« Great experience in a great city »

Great motel in a good location on the edge of Prairie Du Chein . Well maintained and quiet with a friendly staff. The water temperature in the hot tub and swimming pool are at a comfortable temperature-not too hot, not too cool. A very enjoyable experience.

    « Needs Some TLC »

I have stayed in better Best Western brand hotels. Of course, I know they are all independently owned and they vary a lot but there should be certain standards. My biggest issue was that the security chain was missing from both doors to our room (you could enter the room from the hall or an exterior door) and each of these doors only had a deadbolt. We got a room on the ground floor per our request (the hotel does not have elevators) and we appreciated that but I'd have felt safer on the upper floor. Things were a little warn down here and there and I probably wouldn't stay here again unless the price was really good. It did seem clean enough but it the room felt tired and old. There were two easy chairs in the room but they were impossible to sit on as the cushions were broken down and you could feel the springs regardless of how you sat. The cushions just need to be filled with new, firm foam. Otherwise the chairs are in good shape. We were in a jacuzzi room (which would have been an upgrade) but the jacuzzi was non-functioning. The internet very snappy and the bed slept OK. We also did like that we were able to use the exterior room door but really would have felt better with the security chain being in place. Breakfast was surprisingly good here. They had pumpkin spice creamers and raisin bread. Hot items were little sausages, scrambled eggs and hash browns. They kept everything nicely stocked and tended to. It is the breakfast that resulted in my average rating; otherwise I'd have rated my stay as poor (in comparison to other similar hotels). We had a pleasant interchange with all members of the staff, to include Mr. Patel. I do encourage him to begin making renovations; particularly those that impact guest safety and comfort.

« Sub standard for a Best Western »

We were in town visiting friends. Our check-in was not very efficient even though I had booked our room in June and I would think they would know what room we were going to be in. The room was spacious and also had frig and microwave. Our room window did not open even though we were on the first floor. The beds were fairly comfortable though I was having back spasms so any bed would've been painful. We did try to have one of sleep on the sleeper sofa but the head of the sleeper was broken and dipped down about two inches. I tried to prop it up with the sofa cushions but not adequate as the rod just jammed me in the middle of my back or hip when lying on my side. There was also a pair of shorts in the sofa sleeper from a previous guest...I don't really know how to describe the bathroom, if it was in the midst of being remodeled or they ran out of money. It did have new tile floor but a chair molding had been removed from the wall and that's it, it was not painted or the holes filled in, just left the way it was. The breakfast buffet had a nice assortment with scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy plus the usual waffle maker, store bought rolls, packaged oatmeal, nothing extraordinary but it was hot. The breakfast room was very small. Tried to go to the pool and spa but it was overtaken with kids. If I have a choice, I will stay somewhere else next time as for $199 for the night for three people, it was a pricey for what it was. I was asked how our stay was upon leaving and when I hesitated, she prompted me a little more so I just tole her about the sleeper sofa.

    « Infested! »

Terrible ant infestation, lost all of our food to ants. Owner denied that there was a problem. No pool towels and had to ask several times before any were provided. At breakfast, eggs were cold and there was no milk for the cereal.

« Beware of the manager, Hitesh Patel. Literally the worst experience I have ever had. »

It started off with a phone call to the Best Western on the day we were scheduled to check in. I spoke with the Manager, Hitesh Patel, and asked him what the cancellation policy was on our room. We were in town for a wedding and had booked the hotel for 2 nights. We were unaware of the distance between Prairie du Chein and Mcgregor, IA, where the wedding reception was being held, so we were inquiring about changing our reservation from one night to two. Hitesh informed me that the reservation was unable to be modified so we were just going to keep our reservation there rather than switch hotels for the second night. This isn't Best Western's problem, but beware of the cell phone reception if you don't have US Cellular or Verizon. Unless you can connect through wi-fi calling, you will not be able to get a signal ANYWHERE in Prairie du Chein, McGregor, or Marquette. Since I wasn't able to accept phone calls, I missed the call from Hitesh and had an extremely rude voicemail from him. He said that since I called inquiring about the cancellation policy, he thought I was going to cancel my reservation so he went ahead and ran the card I used to book the room even before we checked in. He said don't even bother checking in because he had tried to run my card and it was declining so he was cancelling my reservation. When we got to the hotel for check in, I have never experience such a rude, confrontation and condescending manager in my life. As soon as I gave him my name, it was all downhill from there. He said that he cancelled my reservation because he thought I was going to cancel it and basically said he didn't think we had a way to pay for the room. I had booked this room on June 13, 2016 and our reservations were for September 23-24, 2016. During this time, my credit card had been compromised and had fraud on it, so I needed to get a new credit card with a different number. The card that I used to book the room 3 months in advance was the old number, and obviously, when dealing with fraud on your credit card, calling the Best Western to update your card information on a hotel you booked three months in advance isn't #1 on your priority list. Instead of being compassionate and understanding, Hitesh made me feel like a crook trying to scam them out of a free room or something! He said, "If you get a new card, you need to notify us immediately." He was demanding a different credit card even though at this point I refused to stay at this place. Since we arrived at the hotel extremely late due to flooding and detours in the area, we didn't have much of a choice but to stay at this hotel. Since Hitesh had already cancelled our reservation for no reason, unbeknownst to us, he had to create another one and wanted to charge us $80 more for two nights than what I had paid when I booked online through AAA. He tried to tell me that I booked through Priceline, which I didn't, so I pulled up the confirmation on my phone and showed him the rate. He said, "I don't make the rates. This is what is coming up on my computer, and this is my commission. If you want to stay, this is the rate you pay." At this point I was losing my patience. It is absurd to me that he felt he could cancel our reservation that I had made three months in advance because he "didn't think we were going to show up", so when we did, he re-books our room at a different rate, even though we have documentation and confirmation of our booking. It gets even better. After he started raising his voice, I told him that I didn't like the way he was treating us and was being extremely condescending. Once we discussed his lack of compassion and customer service skills, he literally told us that in management training, all the managers at the Best Western are taught that the "customer is always wrong." At this point, I would have rather slept under a bridge than to give this place any money. We had a friend with us who booked a room also, and since his card went through fine, he was stuck with the room for both nights. Hitesh told him upon check in that if he caught us sharing the room, there would be a $20 extra charge per person. We walked to his room so he could drop off his stuff, and headed out for a much needed drink after this experience. If you are on the first floor, the rooms here each have a door that lead directly to the parking lot. We left through that door, and sure enough Hitesh is loitering right by our friends room, probably trying to see if we were actually going to leave or if he could get by with charging our friend and extra $20 for each of us. Unbelievable. Needless to say, we found a hotel in McGregor and will never be back to this place. Unfortunately our friend, who carpooled with us from the Twin Cities, was stuck staying at this place for the weekend so we made many trips back to PDC so he could spend the least amount of time at this place as possible.

Working on getting the free room stay at Best Western, with reward point to cut down on travel expense. Hotel has a lot to offer for comfort, and enjoyment. Very clean with lots of options at the Best Western, from fitness, pool, hot tubs, full breakfast.

« Best Western Bluffview Inn & Suites, Prairie Du Chien, WISCONSINW »

Always clean and neat. Service is excellent! We have been there many times and every time is a great experience which is awesome as we always leave there knowing we will be back! Kudos to Hitesh and his staff!

« Great place to stay »

Gorgeous clean rooms, comfy bed, good breakfast, easy to get to location. Staff was friendly. We stayed in a theme room. Loved the furniture. Very nice touch. Nice to stay at a place that isn't the same as everywhere else.

« Great value and excellent hospitality »

We arrived at the end of a long drive north from Quincy and without having made a reservation but we were warmly greeted by a very friendly lady on the desk. She was informative, helpful and a real asset to Best Western. The hotel is very clean, tidy and comfortable with spacious, well equipped rooms and very good en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast was taken in a quiet area and consisted of the usual assortment of hot and cold fare. Recommendations for local restaurants were forthcoming and turned out very reliable. This is s very good hotel and well staffed. We'd certainly commend it to others heading along the east bank of the Mississippi (Great River Road).

    « Nice »

Stayed because we like BW. Picked wrong weekend. Concert so HIGH price. But a very nice place to stay and close to a very good eating place. No discounts available on this weekend. Good breakfast but limited seating.

    « Overnight stay »

The staff and owner were very friendly and helpful. Right on Wisconsin highway 35, but very quiet. We were here during a local Blues Festival and the motel offered a shuttle service to the event for just $5. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Ours had a microwave and small refrigerator as well as a couch and high back chairs and table. Motorcycle friendly, like all Best Westerns!

« Good place to stay »

We stay at this hotel at least once a year. This year twice. A little disappointed in that the room had a slight offensive odor. My husband thought it was cigarette smoke, I thought it was more like a musty smell. Also There is a lack of towels and wash cloths. In the very hot weather if people have been out and being active they might want to take two showers and there was just 2 towels and 2 washcloths. Pillows were lumpy.

    « Disappointing and expensive »

When we arrived, we were surprised with being charged an additional $20.00 for any child 14 years old or older. Rooms were nice sized but smelled, were outdated, and not clean. There was no water pressure. We literally had a small flow of water going straight down from the shower head. Although attempts have been made to update the rooms, it felt gross. I did not enjoy it and would not go back.

« The Inn Is Always Full ??????? »

If you are traveling on a motorcycle this is not the place for you! I stayed at this property twice. The 1st time by choice, the 2nd out of necessity. Both times were on a week day. Both times all they had available were hot tub rooms at big buck rates. Gave me a small break on the rate the 1st stay but stuck me good the 2nd time. And no clue as to what the Harley-Davidson rides reward card or program was all about. The owner of this property made it very clear to me that he does not want motorcyclists staying at his property.

    « Great place »

Everything about this hotel was very nice. Staff was friendly and accommodating and the facility was very clean! Would stay here again. All amenities were well maintained and comfortable. The manager was friendly and always available. Pool area was clean and well maintained.

« Needs LOTS of improvement... »

I choose a Best Western because I think they are solid and consistently good hotels. I was wrong with this one. If the rooms are being renovated, my room was quite obviously not among the completed rooms. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable and had a "valley" in the middle of it. The staff at check in were very friendly and helpful. The rooms conveniently had doors on the parking lot and in the hallway, with helped a lot with loading and unloading. But...the housekeeper ignored the "do not disturb" sign on the hallway door (which was locked with the chain) and walked around to enter on the parking lot side--literally walking in as she knocked on the door, giving me no time to stop her. It was an unfortunate end to an already not-so-great room.

« Nice expensive Vanity and new bathroom tile »

Newly renovated bathroom with premium quality quartzite, nice job struggling with the contractor and finally job done. Best front desk and nice mosaics work. Front desk looks larger, new tiles all the places i.e main entrance, bathroom, fitness center beautiful large aria quartzite top and new matching higher grade cabinets

    « Enjoyed my stay »

Had a few options but decided on Best Western. There was a decent restaurant within walking distance. They were remodeling and it was looking good without effecting our current stay. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The price was very reasonable. The staff was very friendly. I would recommend this place.

    « Spring visit »

We did a spring visit to Wyalusing State Park in April. With the weather cool and rainy so camping was out of the question. We chose this hotel based on reviews. The bathroom was newer, bed comfortable, room clean, decent breakfast, and nice staff. The pool and whirlpool looked cloudy so we didn't use, but that may have been because of the remodeling going on.

« Not what you are paying for »

Got there expecting $134 suite. Wound up with room stuck in the corner of the back of the building. Owner was grinding away with a concrete saw at 8PM showering my new Lexus with concrete dust... I said I wanted a discount for the misrepresentation and he turned and stomped away in a huff. When encountered later, he wouldn't even look at us. He knew he sold us a "bill of goods"...

« Best affordable hotel in Prairie du Chien »

My husband and I have stayed at this hotel several times. It is a very nice place to stay and the owner is very helpful and nice. It is an affordable better quality place to stay than several of the lower priced hotels or motels in the area. You are provided with as much quality service and comfortable rooms at this hotel as you would at the far more expensive ones.

« Northwest Region Sign Coordinator »

We out on our trip site seeing the country sides and enjoy the week of vacation. We stay at three motels along our trip the ;ast place was the Best Western and where we book a roon with whirlpool in it so we could relax alone. But we had a dirting whirlpool jets that were never cleaned after they remoded the room.

    « Great place »

The Bluffview Inn and Suites in Prairie du Chien is always clean, always pleasant and a good deal for the money . Close to Marquette and MacGregor Iowa for small town shopping. The winery in Marquette has fantastic wines!!

    « Very quiet »

Super little hotel, very clean and comfortable. Management was friendly and helpful. They directed me to where I could park a large truck at no charge. The young lady in the morning was very kind and helpful, answered all my questions about the area and gave me directions to where I needed to go. I will stay here again when in the area.

« Friendly and Accommodating Staff »

The management of the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. We needed to make a change in our reservation upon arrival with no problems. Their computer system was down upon arrival, but they were able to help us with a speedy check-in process. We had stayed in the Oriental Suite 22 years prior and we again stayed there this trip. The room was still very clean and updated.

    « Clean but uncomfortable »

The sheets and towels were low quality and uncomfortable to use. The water pressure was terrible. The man at the front desk tried to change the rate, and then tried to charge our card twice. There are a lot of other options locally, and I wouldn't recommend this one.

It was nice having a couch and recliners in addition to the 2 queen beds. Breakfast was a very nice amenity. My kids enjoyed the pool. The hotel was located close to many attractions including, but not limited to, Wyalusing State Park east of Prairie du Chien in Bagley. We had a delightful stay and recommend this property.

    « Criminal Owners »

To be perfectly honest, the hotel wasn't terrible. Dealing with the owners and the unreasonable prices is what gives this hotel a 1 star rating. I booked the hotel through a hotel booking website for a pretty hefty price. Much more than I have ever paid for a 2 and 1/2 star. This hotel is really a 2 star hotel which makes the price even worse. Upon my arrival, they claimed I hadn't prepaid. I insisted that priceline always prepays, and pulled up the reservation on my phone. A few days before I had called about getting an early check in because I was getting married that day. They were weird about it. I was only asking for an hour or two early. Thankfully it was a very small ceremony so there was a little flexibility. They were still arguing about payment and I figured they were just an amateur operation that had never dealt with priceline so I finally just asked them to run my credit card and we would settle it in the morning. The next morning, my wife and I wanted to go hiking at Effigy Mounds. The hotel still insisted priceline hadn't paid. It was confusing but finally they admitted priceline had paid, except they now claimed it wasn't priceline but some other company I had never used before. They then said they only needed 20 more dollars to get the rest of the payment. This was absurd. This entire ordeal was about 20 bucks. I'm no hospitality expert, but if this was just a matter of 20 bucks and the person in question was celebrating their wedding, a good business would let it go. The problem is, it shouldn't have been over 20 bucks because priceline already charged me the FULL amount! I eventually told them to just run my card and I would file a dispute later. They did and I did and my credit card returned the full amount to me. I get the feeling they have found hidden reasons to charge people before. These guys are liars. The rooms are 2 star quality. They are actually surprisingly clean so I would credit the good housekeeping staff but everything is a bit outdated and obviously the customer service is atrocious. T

    « Decidedly Tired »

This place really needs a renovation. The rooms are dark and not exactly clean, furniture is uncomfortable and beat up. Bathroom was small and again tired and dingy, but it has a heat lamp, something you don't see in modern energy efficient hotels. The price was much higher than nearby hotels, but at least they had availability. Breakfast was better than expected though, so not a total miss.

« Ragged towels and coarse sheets »

We have stayed at Best Western in other places and always thought they were a good value and nice place to stay. This one wasn't. The room was clean, but the tiny bathroom had a corner sink like in a powder room with no place to even put your cosmetic bag and had only 2 small threadbare towels for 2 people. And I mean threads were hanging off the sides of the towels. The bed had very coarse sheets and was too soft. Noisy semi traffic all night long. In the morning we went down for breakfast and since there were only a few tables, All full and standing room only, we got coffee and went back to our room for a while. When we returned there was an open table and we took it. The waffles are good at Best Westerns so we thought we would have those. Guess not since the machine was empty. And they knew it was since they had removed the supply box insert without putting in a new one. We are staying today at a Grandstay and can't believe the difference for about the same price. We may not stay at Best Western again.

« This is one to avoid »

The walls between the rooms were so thin that we could hear the couple next door to us talking even though they were speaking in low tones. We could hear them when they were in the bathroom and, the bath tub was not as clean as it should have been. The breakfast area was too small to accommodate the guests. It was October which is a busy time for hotels in this area as many are out "looking at the fall colors". The usual price of $89 for a room was terribly inflated at $179 per room + tax which brought the price to $199. Finally, none of the exercise equipment in the work out room worked!

« Vharming innkeeper and good place to sleep and relax; No real bluffview. »

We stayed 2 nights - 10/7 and 10/8/15 in the whirlpool king suite Room 118. Mattress was VERY comfortable. Pillows were perfect - I slept very well with no stiff neck. Towels a little thin, but large. TV worked very well. Breakfast was provided but I didn't like it - greasy sausage, hash browns, and hard scrambled eggs. Coffee good. Water in shower whistled and I couldn't adjust the head to get a good spray. Soap was typical - small and useful, that's all. Our coffee maker didn't work, but they got us another one immediately. It is called "Bluffview" but really there was no decent view. In-room microwave and mini-fridge.

« Best Western business stay »

The room was extremely comfortable and most of all very clean. The entire place was welcoming and the staff excellent. The gentleman that checked us in was very helpful with directions and places to eat. When we indicated the night before check out that we would be checking out very early in the day, they offered to complete our paper work ahead of time which was helpful because we had a 40 minute ride to the show we were working.

    « Supper Club Tour »

We like to travel around and check out Wisconsin Supper Clubs. Best Western Hotels are usually found in the locations we want to stay. This hotel was a great place to stay. We would highly recommend this hotel for it beautiful location and good service.

    « Not average »

I always stay in Best Western motels if possible but would never stay at this one again. I stayed all over this country and never had one like this. They call a upgrade to go from a queen bed to a king bed and the other motels upgrades are whirlpool rooms

« needs to step up there game »

If you are a business person and don't need a desk to work at, this is your hotel. If you don't want or need healthy breakfast foods for your breakfast, this is your place. If you don't need a printer, this is your place. Staff is friendly and helpful.

    « Bluffview Inn Prairie »

Very nice hotel, the breakfast was very good and very nice staff! Definately recommend this hotel!! Centrally located in Prairie Du Chein for sightseeing. A group of us went on our motorcycles, the staff was very accommodating!
