Best Western Hotel Alcyon

My ferry from Sardinia to Corsica got cancelled twice due to extreme weather conditions. This hotel refused to refund me money, stating “it's not our fault”. In reality it isn't mine either. They mentioned they have a 7 day cancellation policy, as if I would be able to know accurately the weather 7 days prior. Also, my ferry got fully refunded, my two other hotels refunded me too. These were the only greedy ones!

Choose a room facing the front of building. The rooms facing front have a balcony and a very nice view of the area. Rooms facing rear have a small window and look out at a stone wall. The hotel appears to have 3 sizes of rooms, ours was in the middle size. Our room was very small and had an awkward shower tub. As mentioned in a previous review, glass partition does not keep shower water in tub and a large puddle accumulates on floor. Rooms were very clean. Rooms suitable for short stays especially if facing rear. Bar on roof top opened at 5pm. with small choice of tapas.

Chose this hotel because of the Best Western hotel chain. Hotel is well located but the room is very small given that we are in a sea view room. Anyhow porto vecchio is sort of ghost town as it's end of the season and almost everything is closed. We checked in around 4pm. Cons: 1. Bathroom. Very silly design of the shower. The rubber under the shower doors are not working. Basically after u just wash your feet or shower, there will be pool in the whole bathroom. The lady at the reception only gave me extra towel rug and bath towel saying that I can just use the towel after shower to wipe the bathroom floor. Where is the hygienic part of the hotel??? She told me she has a room with a bathtub but nobody to clean up the room. 2. The room is extremely warm. AC isnt working but cant open the window due to mosquitoes. No AC no fan.. 3. The staff at the reception in the evening doesn't speak any other language than french (when we ask about the AC). Very disappointed and very unlikely to recommend this hotel to anybody..

This hotel is a 5-10 minute walk to the old city core. They have a parking for 10 euros on a side street about 10 minute walk . Rooms are good size . They have a rooftop bar which is nice . Easy to get in and out of town . Breakfast is 15 euros but there is a café not very far where you can get a continental breakfast.

The hospitality of the Reception Staff makes theirs a stand out hotel! The roof top terrance is breathtaking- a great place to start and end the day. Of particular note is the quality of the breakfast items was outstanding.The proximity to the center city was one of the reasons I chose this hotel over others. It's in an ideal location and the kind and caring staff make you feel you never want to leave Porto-Vecchio and this hotel.

We spent a night there, 2 adults. Easy to park in front of the hotel for few minutes, time to leave the luggage and get info about the carpark. Very small bedroom, with quite a nice view. Design bathroom but it's so easy to water the entire floor if you don't pay attention. Breakfast too expensive, we had a very nice one on the Harbour. The big problem is the noise, with constant slamming doors and the other's guests noises during the night. Please do some soundproof work!

A little tricky to find but rang the hotel and the receptionist talked us there with her directions. Reception staff great and helpful. The worst thing about our stay was our room - at the back of the hotel overlooking a breeze block wall and was absolutely tiny. The shower cubicle was minute but saying that, a great powerful shower. The best thing about the hotel is its location (a couple of minutes walk up into the old town), the rooftop wine bar with views to die for and the best breakfast we had all week in Corsica!

When we arrived to the hotel they told us all the info, except for breakfast price is not included in the price. It was not written in the booking nor in confirmation breakfast has a seperate price. On top, they told us we may have our breakfast in upstairs which we thought it is included. When we checked out they charged us for 15 euro pp, w that we could have eaten better breakfast for a cheaper price. When we tried to explain this receptionist guy told us that we should have known:D how could we know this if it is not explained or not stated in the document. He couldnt showed in the doc that it is not included and even though we havent signed the confirmation he charged us and misbehaved! When we tried to explain over phone they shut down the phone.. Please dont go there!!! For sure there are many hotels w better price and better quality! There is no need to have a discussion w front desk.

The hotel is central on a hill. Close enough to be in the old & newer part of town. Easy to find. Hotel is near restaurants, bars & nightclubs. Opposite the hotel they have a outside open theatre where one can perform hits to guests entertained. The hotel has a bar area on the 6th floor overlooking the the harbour. Wifi seemed a bit a slow at times. Will definitely be visiting again soon.

The room - a"double room" - for 300 euros per night excluding breakfast - was absurdly small - 13/14 sq metres- the bathroom miniscule - also they did not even make up the bed or clean the room - For 300 euros per night this is simply UNACCEPTABLE - Best Western should be ashamed - Hwever, staff very pleasant - I am writing this review to warn fellow travellers -

I spent five nights at the Best Western Hotel Alcyon. Overall, it was a pretty good experience. The location is excellent - about a two minute walk from the center of Porto Vecchio. The closest bus stop to go to the beautiful beaches of Santa Giulia and Palombaggia is about a 7-8 minute walk. Staff were friendly - no complaints here. The room was pretty decent (I had a "superior" room). But the biggest drawback is the fact that the walls are so thin that you hear all the nearby doors being opened/slammed and some noise from neighbour rooms. Breakfast was 15 euros, which I thought was rather expensive for what was on offer (not a bad selection, but not quite to my taste). overall i'd recommend this hotel.

It has everything a Best Westen should have. Great location, nice beds and friendly staff even in the evening where I approached the hotel. Also amazing breakfast and beautiful view from 5th floor where the breakfast is served.

Located near the town center of Porto-Vecchio, this little hotel has small rooms, with an average comfort and services. No refrigerator in room and improvable cleanliness. We had only one baggage each, but was difficult to find space for our luggage. But breakfast was amazing!! Served on the 6th floor terrace, with a quiet view on the port, for the high price of 15 euros it offers an excellent choice of food and beverages, with friendly and active staff; it was the best moment of our stay in Porto-Vecchio.

We stayed in the hotel for a couple of nights during a tour of Corsica. It was without doubt the worst hotel we stayed in and at twice the price of any other hotel was very poor value for money. The breakfast content was very good, however they only had one member of staff to do everything . I was a bit poorly on the first morning and my husband asked to take a coffee from breakfast, but was very firmly not allowed to do so. Of course I would not have needed this if there was a hospitality tray in the room as described in the brochure and in the in room information guide. Don't be taken in by the great views - our room like many others looked onto a wall and was dingy and small. Maintenance was poor - the heater was off the wall and the bath had the wrong size of plug - the receptionist tried advised that the last guest must have stolen it - really then why change it for one that does not fit. at 240 euros per night - they could have tried harder , Left with the feeling that the owners had little consideration for it customers.

I would actually give his hotel more of a 2.5 rating then a 3. If you are planning on staying in porto vecchio, this hotel is in a great location, not even a 5 minute walk into the city center. It was clean but small, although the size is not uncommon in Europe (similar to a hotel ibis). The bed was comfortable, however a little small for being the largest bed they have (at 5 foot 10 my feet were almost hanging off the bed!) some things that could not be over looked: Internet was regularly not working. We had to call the front desk every night to see what the problem was. Most nights they would say "ok, we'll reset it",however one evening one of the women at the front desk replied, " no, it's not working and I have no idea when it will be working again". In my opinion this is unacceptable for a hotel that advertises itself towards a business clientele. Only one person who worked the front desk spoke French AND a little Italian, no one spoke English. The parking, which is 10 euro a day, is not onsite, it is located at their residence. For us it was a non issue, but for someone with mobility issues or a family with a stroller it would be as the walk back is very steep! The shower in our room also did not seal properly, and after every shower our bathroom floor would be covered in water, which we found annoying. At 160 Euro a night these are flaws that can't be overlooked.

Bed was small, bathroom small and shower so small was a bit difficult to wash. Had a room at the back with view of a wall. Couldnt find any way of changing the airconditioning speed or temperature; In the middle of the night it turned off. Breakfast couldn't get a second cup of white coffe, and no croissants left, did ask, and was told would arrive, didn't see them, or the coffee But is walking distance to town and clean

The hotel was average, not charming, what was terrible was the front desk staff. Based on my info I believed that this has been already paid, and when I showed her my paperwork that stated paid - the woman at checkout was nasty and told me she would charge me whatever she wanted and I could just deal with it, it was my problem not hers. She wouldn't reference my booking ID or any of the info I shared. I try to be pleasant with everyone when traveling, even if there is a problem, but I have never had anyone so disrespectful and rude. Actually she was the only person on the entire island that treated us so terribly, even yelling at us in the lobby. I would not stay here again or ever recommend this hotel based on Vanessa N. at the front desk. Unnecessary hostility and downright awful.

A small and fairly limited hotel but only five min walk to the town square. My room was rather compact but had what was needed. Clean bathroom the size of an ensuite in your own house, aircon, no fridge, bed. The only space to sit around out of your room is the terrace bar/ restaurant and that gives nice views of the bay. I used this as a short stopover and would not like to stay here on a holiday. I think most would find it limiting. Staff were friendly and check in fast but I'm not sue in summer that this would be the case. Short stays only.

Staying off season in PV is not easy as most hotels are closed. This is a part of a residence which was built for the Tour de France and is therefore still new. It has the benefit of being part of the Alcyon Hotel and has excellent facilities, washing machine, kitchen etc.. Comfortable bed, 2 balconies, clean bathroom and loo, and the building is well maintained with underground parking. Breakfast available in the hotel bar with a panoramic view of the bay. Staff very helpful, particularly the chamber maid and front desk managers. Five minute stroll to town square. PS Nights are very cold in January but the apartment was beautifully warm and the bed had a duvet!
