« Would stay here again »

It seems like this is a love/hate property. People either love the quiet, quaint and not the norm for a hotel or hate the fact that it's quiet, quaint and not the norm with no middle ground. We loved it. It's a secure property with a security guard as you walk in, the check in desk is outside of the main office and up a flight of stairs. The property is a mix of residential units (condos and apartments) and a hotel and you feel more like you are at home than at a hotel. We had a ground floor room (very clean, very spacious) and that came with a nice patio and a small backyard which would have been awesome if we had stayed for more than 1 night. If we had stayed for several nights that privacy of a private yard would have been lovely and it would be great for families with young children. The staff was very friendly, the manager on duty when we checked in helped us with our bags and later came to the room to help with another question we had about the TV remote and air conditioner. Breakfast the next day was simple, tasted great and was "home cooked" (seriously, the orders were done 1 at a time and it was as if we had cooked it at home which isn't a bad thing). Downfalls....any cab ride you take is going to be $15 plus tip, even if you go 3 miles down the road. So, bring your walking shoes. We transferred from the Atlantis to here and it was $15 plus tip, if we had realized it was a 10 minute walk we would have walked and saved money. The beach is also a short walk away and not right there. They have an on site restaurant but it closes early and the food is basic and anything you are going to go to eat at is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel. Anthony's is a great place to eat and the prices are reasonable. Also, because the property used to be 100% residential there are a lot of pathways from one building to the next and steps going from one level of the property to another and down to the doors o many of the ground floor rooms. IT IS NOT WHEELCHAIR OR SCOOTER FRIENDLY! All in all, it's a great place to stay and the staff is friendly and helpful.

« THE PLACE to stay on Paradise Island!!!!!!! »

as a travel agent, I have to say this is the place to stay....very reasonable......probably the best priced on paradise island for what you get......we had a one bedroom apartment in a beautiful tropical setting....upon arrival upgraded to a corner end unit......like the 1st floor since you get your own private patio in back....since we had arrived early....room was not ready so we had lunch at poolside.....very good and then we went to room....again its an apartment so if you want to cook everything is there.....we opted for breakfast at their restaurant poolside again very good and very reasonable compared to other places........entire staff very friendly and professional and helpful.....office made dinner recommendations and made the reservations for us!!!! excellent choices and food!.....hotel is walking distance to everything Atlantis, beach and stores...... and there are several pools on property and saw a tennis court!......why stay anywhere else....very peaceful and quiet here......you will not be disappointed.....if and when I return, will only stay here.....save $$$$$ by staying here and use the difference to treat yourself to nice restaurants and shops......Staying here made Paradise Island a wonderful experience. A few suggestions (and these are NOT criticisms) put a clock in bedroom keep BAR and restaurant open AFTER 4 pm...especially weekends provide a shuttle even if there is a fee to places like downtown, Atlantis and beach most of it is walkable except for downtown the place has great security that greet you on arrival and when you go out...a very safe place....they also get you taxis and have plent of good advice on what to see and do. Again it's the best place to stay Thanks for making my runaway long veterans' weekend......4 nites.....to Paradise island an enjoyable time and stay. I surely will recommend Best Western as THE PLACE to stay on paradise Island......as you can see I think the place is GREAT! Lenny

I really enjoyed my stay. Every time I travel to the Bahamas I choose this hotel. The hotel is kept up and the staff is very helpful and friendly...Very clean rooms....very quiet atmosphere! A must stay for the price

« OK, but not great »

We were looking for a hotel that offered the facilities of the hotel; the location is good - although not on the beach its not a long walk. An easy walk to the facilities of Atlantis. There's plenty free parking. The pool is regularly cleaned and looked good. Our problems stem from having day old soap removed from the bathroom and not replaced on several occasions; seemingly a shortage of towels as replacements were only made once laundered. The internet connection kept freezing. And the beds and pillows were not terribly comfortable. But it is what it is and since it largely suited our needs and the price was acceptable, the experience was Ok but not great.

« If this property meets Best Westerns standards, they don't have any standards. »

If price and proximity to Paradise Island is your only concern, this may be for you. We spent 4 nights on Paradise Island and booked with Best Western Bay View Suites because we were initially quoted an outrageous rate to extend our stay for one additional night. We subsequently negotiated something workable and called Bay View to cancel. We were advised the reservation was non-refundable therefore we spent the day at Paradise Island and arrived at the property at approximately 9:00PM for a nights sleep in anticipation of an early departure to the airport. In spite of our call earlier that day to confirm our arrival time, we were not advised that the property had been experiencing periodic power outages that day. We arrived by cab, unloaded our luggage and we're than advised power was out with only emergency power. We were escorted to the rental office as I stood outside at the bottom of the stairs. After about a half hour the staff were leaving and we departed by cab back to Paradise Island. Though we did not get assigned to a room, my observations, based on discussions with another guest and the cab driver, this property caters to construction crews working on Paradise Island and other price only clients. It is not a typical hotel in any shape or manner. It's a cluster of single and two story buildings that appear to have been built in the sixties. On a positive note, a security guard found our daughter's phone that had been inadvertently left. He kindly dropped it off on his way home a short time later. We tipped him accordingly. If a property is flagged as a chain hotel, you have certain reasonable expectations. As a Best Western I expected a clean, well maintained business class hotel. It didn't even approach those standards. Had they simply admitted they were having power problems and released our reservation we could have made other arrangements. They chose to gamble that they would have power when we arrived. They don't control the local power authority but they do have the obligation to advise guests of a known ongoing problem. They didn't. In any case, it was a lesson to us that the best value isn't the lowest price. It's a $40 a night hotel located a mile or so from Paradise Island priced at almost $175 a night. It that works for you great. It doesn't for us.

    « Extremely happy stay »

Check-in staff Sandra is extremely helpful, approachable, friendly, professional and flexible which has made my stay here extra enjoyable without any worries. This has definitely exceeded my original expectations. I have never had this kind of experience with other hotel chains in the past which is why I am so impressed with Best Western Quality now! From now on I will certainly try my best to book Best Western hotels first for my business and leisure purposes. Thank you very much for your great efforts Best Western!

« Trip with my Bf »

Very nice hotel 3 large pools. Friendly staff very helpful. Food was just ok. Wanted something more native to bahamas should have more options. Rooms are outdated but comfy still. Would hope the rooms would be updated soon. Would visit again.

« Pleasant stay in comfortable accommodation »

This property is a collection of small condos, or apartments linked together by pathways and greenery/flowers and unusual statuary - very cute, Bahamian and different from other hotels we have stayed at - not particularly modern but nice and clean and comfortable. We had a king bedroom, small, basic bathroom, kitchen with full amenities (fridge, cooker etc), living room with dining table and a small deck/outside sitting area. It felt like the only other people we saw there might even be longer term residents - very empty while we were there, but that may be due to June being the rainiest month there. The hotel staff were extremely pleasant, very helpful (although we could have done with some help with the luggage instead of having to wheel the luggage cart ourselves) and polite. There was a pool right across from our room as well, which was clean and well maintained . The only down side for me was that it was more out of the way to get anywhere - two blocks from the public beach, but beware of being asked constantly if you want cold drinks, umbrellas, banana boats etc. - that is one downside of not staying in a property with designated beach area. To get into the main shopping area from there requires a taxi (about $20 for about a 3 mile journey) or stout walking shoes. It is however, right next to the Atlantic complex and you can wander around part of that without having wrist bands - take a credit card if you want drinks at any of their bars since most are cash-free.

« ONLY PLACE ON PARADISE ISLAND UNDER $200 USD a Night! »

You cannot go wrong with this place for people on business or even families. The property is older but full of tropical plants and palms all through out. The place has multiple pools and a tennis court. It is the most affordable place on Paradise island. It is walking distance from many restaurants and bars on PI. You can take a quick $10 Taxi to Atlantis. The room we got had a kitchen and a living room with a couch as well as a nice double bed. It also had an outdoor patio and free wifi. great value for money if you are looking for something reasonable and simple.

« Well maintained older compound »

I really liked this place. It was an older bunch of structures nestled in a lovely tropical garden. Everything was super clean. We stayed in an apartment with a kitchen. The staff was very helpful and curteous, except for the grumpy snack bar lady. The pools were nice and the location was perfect. I would return for sure.

    « Excellent Atmosphere »

The atmosphere and feel of the place was very nice. I would recommend staying here if you are looking for something outside of the resorts. My room had a living/dining, kitchen, and bedroom with a little backyard.

    5
    « A quirky little gem »

If you want a one-of-a-kind hotel experience, this is the place. There is no cookie-cutter quality about the property. Everyplace has its own personality. Sure it's a little farther from Atlantis village and marina, but it's worth the walk.

« BEAUTIFUL and wonderful location »

A great place without the mega hotel. Our room had a front patio, large living area, nice bathroom, full kitchen and large bedroom. The grounds are well maintained, three small pools, tennis courts and security at the front. We walked to the ferry, local bar/restaurant and any shopping on Paradise Island. The staff was friendly enough. If there is a downside, housekeeping not very generous with toiletries or kitchen items. The sofa bed is very outdated and not usable. BUT we loved our stay at this hotel!!

« Great place for a great price »

This is my 3rd stay here and I love it. The rooms are spacious, clean, quite, and cool. The location is not on the beach. But, it is a two block walk to the Atlantis with all the shops and restaurants it offers and the public access to the beach. They have two pools a poolside restaurant and tennis courts with several quite places to just relax. They also offer laundry facilities.

    « Tired & Outdated, But Peaceful & Clean »

Paradise Island is divided in half with one side being the commercial side, and the other side being the condo/residential side. Best Western Bay View lands at the center of this division. This property is a collection of condo units with small swimming pools, a tennis court, laundry facilities, small fitness gym, and a cantina-style food option that's open for breakfast through 4pm#. The property is full of local foliage, flowers, and garden decor. Your entry point is NOT where you check in. A security person will either direct you to the office for checkin, or someone will lead you to it. You must be able to climb steps to get to the office to check in. (Leave your luggage below) It appeared to me that all units were accessed by steps, either up or down. I can't say this with 100% certainty because I did not walk the entire property, but the units I either walked by daily or that were in my area were all accessed by at least one or two steps. My unit was accessed by about 8 steps. My unit was old, dated, worn out, and felt damp. Friends of mine would call this a "floor through" unit, where you can see from the front door through to the back wall of the furthest room. You entered into a living room space with a cabinet & small flat screen tv, sofabed, chair, small round dining table & 4 chairs, desk & chair. The sofabed also had sidetables and a coffee table. The overhead ceiling fan worked well. The room was always clean. The next room was the kitchen and bathroom. Immediately upon entering the kitchen space was the bathroom, one step UP. The bathroom was clean with all of the usual ammenities. The kitchen included a 4-top stove and oven, a sink, a full-sized refrigerator and freezer, and a microwave that was on a rolling stand. Electric appliances included a coffee-maker, toaster, and electric kettle. Cupboards housed dishes - what once appeared to be a setting for 4 but various pieces are now missing and have never been replaced. (3 cups, 2 mugs, 4 plates, 1 saucer, etc) Silverware and other utensils as well as various pots and pans were available for use. Glassware of varying styles were also available. One dish rag, one dish towel and one dish drying rack. There were no condiments of any kind including no salt or pepper. There's also no dish soap, etc. There was a small window over the sink that looked into the kitchen of the unit across the way. The last room was the bedroom. My room had a king bed with a mattress that required replacement. Two closets with about 6 hangers in each. One closet included a safe which I highly recommend using - it's the type that requires a credit card. Please don't use your credit card. This type of safe will also accept a 4 digit pin and then the # key. A small flat screen TV was atop a dresser. There was one chair in the room and lots of natural light. There was a ceiling fan overhead that worked well. Wi-fi was free and worked very well in the unit, as did everything else. The air conditioning in the unit also worked well throughout my stay. There was a patio/deck at the front of the unit with a round table and 3 plastic chairs. It's shaded and was a great place to sit and read and watch life go by or listen to the native birds. The small restaurant on-site was a bit expensive, but worth it if you don't bring in a lot of groceries or aren't staying for a long period of time. Your meal is made to order and the food is simple. I was always able to bring my food back to my room. It closed at 4pm# daily. There's a pantry/cantina on site with beverages, snacks, and candy available for purchase. This was open until 4pm. There was also a small gym/fitness room. During my stay there were not a lot of families there. It was primarily couples of every age, and many who were there a week or more and clearly purchasing groceries. Groceries are about a 6 block walk, as are 3 restaurants. The Atlantis complex is about 10-15 minutes walk depending on your stride. Please note the Best Western website states that 3 restaurants are "across the street." This is absolutely false. These 3 restaurants are about 6 blocks away. (one of them maybe 7-8 blocks in total) Every staff member I encountered was professional, friendly, and helpful or ready to assist. I hesitate to say whether or not I would stay here again. I truly enjoyed the peaceful nature of this property, the friendly staff, and the proximity to groceries and restaurants. But I'd like to see some investment in updates of the units - in decor, paint, furniture, everything.

    « My new hotel »

Went to the Bahamas for business, my unit was clean, I was able to check in early. Great service. Internet worked fine, I stayed for 2 days. Close to Atlantis and the beach..great pool...quiet location.

« Gracious hospitality in Paradise Island »

The staff is professional, courteous and attentive to requests for assistance. Overall Location is very good ~ 10 minute walk to ferry and Atlantis complex. Amenities such as pools/tennis courts, etc are very good; however; the hotel complex/rooms are in need of cosmetic improvements to bring it to the 21st century.

« depressing and incredibly tired »

Where does one begin.. I'll try and be positive. The staff were pleasant and friendly and there is free wireless. There is a room safe. (USE IT). The overhead fans work. Ok, thats about all I can think of. The good news is that we are only here for a 1 night stop on our way to Cat Island. The facts: this is perhaps the seediest place I have ever stayed at. And at $310 US for a night it's outrageous. The bed is soft, the lights are dim and most don';t work, the outside chairs on our private "patio" are dusty, the garden is unkempt everywhere. We had to lug our suitcase down 4 steps, the bathroom hasnt been updated since 1960, the sink had filth behind it, the bathtub has mould around it, the kitchen has 2 pots a coffee maker and a kettle. There is nowhere to open a suitcase properly. There are 2 tvs but only 1 converter. It is noisy. There is no paper towel, dish soap, the bath towels are old and thin but I have saved the worst for last. There is an unbelievably poisonous smell of air freshener or disinfectant, formaldehyde, or something that is guaranteed to give you a headache. It smells like they are trying to mask a dead body or worse,it is truly toxic. In fact the "suite" reminds me of something from a horror movie where they re-locate recently released serial killers. There is NOTHING remotely BestWestern about it. How they get away with using the logo and name is beyond me. If I were the CEO of BestWestern I would be horrified. We will consider this an "adventure", and try and get through the night. Worse than any dive I stayed at while backpacking as a kid, worse smelling than any airplane washroom. Stay away, trust the reviews.

« Affordable, family friendly hotel. »

The Best Western Bay View Suites is a good hotel in a great location and an affordable option for families, particularly in the high season. Our suite was clean and had all the amenities we required, it was very handy having kitchen facilities in our suite, and a separate lounge area. Yes, it is an older property, but the hotel's location is in easy walking distance to all Paradise Island attractions and the furnishings and amenities in our room were all in good working order. We found the staff to all be very friendly and helpful and the gardens well maintained. In regards to the additional utilities charge, this is a common charge all throughout hotels in the Bahamas, so I certainly wouldn't use it as a negative point against this property. Some research into other hotels in the Bahamas will show the same charge passed on to guests.

    2
    « Tired property »

This property is a disappointment. Our unit was dirty (especially the kitchen with food stains on the wall by the stove), the couch was broken in the center and it appeared the staff had used strong disinfectant to cover some unpleasant smells that surfaced later each day. We slept with the window open because the air-conditioning make the disinfectant smell worse. We had to call for service twice as the TV was not working nor was the toilet. The patio table had a big ketchup stain that stayed the entire time even though housekeeping came everyday.

    « Stay away! »

We booked a vacation thru Southwestern Vacations. We always stay at Best Westerns so we thought everything was fine. We were sadly disappointed. In all my travels, I have never stayed at a hotel where we were charged anything for utility charges...much less $17.00 a night! The bathroom was not cleaned daily, there were 3 days out of 8 that we did not have coffee and/or condiments in the morning. We decided to have breakfast at their "restaurant" one morning...big mistake! My husbands omelet was totally burned and the sausage was way overcooked. When we checked out, the manager asked "Was everything ok". I replied "We are just checking out". She didn't ask anything after that...really didn't care whether we were happy or not. The only recommendation I would give for this place is "Stay Away"!!

    « Great Experience »

The Best Western Bay View is located on Paradise Island just a distance from the Atlantis. It's like a townhouse. I loved the private patio and courtyard filled with tropical plants. The bed was very comfortable and full kitchen with all you need to make the cooking was clean. The Wi-fi was adequate as well. The neighborhood is very quiet and allowed for a very pleasant nights rest. I really enjoyed to be there.

room was not clean we book on line for a double bed we got two twin beds in the room when we first arrived the hotel did not see no record where we booked at on line they were going to make me pay additional 250.00 until I had to get my daughter to pull up email and confirm to me over the phone to manager that we paid and book room on line hotel is in a great spot outside is beautiful

« Family of 27 treated like kings! »

My wife and I decided to take all of our 6 adult kids with 6 spouses/significant others, 12 grand kids and a granddaughter's boyfriend ( yep, 27 of us) on a family vacation instead of buying Christmas Gifts. The best gifts we could ever have bought are the wonderful memories we now have. The walk to the water park at the Atlantis was manageable even with so many kids- and we had a blast!

    4
    « Very Nice Place! »

Had a great one night stay before heading to Atlantis for the week. Would recommend, close to everything within walking distance to Atlantis. Had a very nice clean 2 bedroom villa. breakfast was good just a bit slow though as the waitress was also the cook! She did a great job taking care of everyone.

    3
« Probably very good at one time »

One nite stay. Well located for our purposes. Two pools, small gym & breakfast area. Needs some TLC. Some areas in room not clean, especially the bedside tables. Soft mattress & pillows. Good in-room i'net. Friendly, helpful staff. Bahamas is an expensive destination.

« Enjoyable Stay - Great room and attentive staff »

My wife and I stayed for four days/three nights and the room, furnishings and the fully equipped kitchen were more than adequate. We loved the private patio and courtyard filled with tropical plants. The bed was very comfortable and the Wi-fi was adequate as well. We enjoyed breakfast and lunch by the pool. Meals were well prepared, presented and reasonably priced. Three pools to choose from and the grounds were clean and tidy. Every staff member that we interacted with was helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again - very enjoyable hotel and reasonably priced!

« Fine - Decent place for Paradise Island on a Budget »

First thing to say is that this hotel is generally far cheaper than the other hotels on Paradise Island and so we expected a relatively budget hotel. When considering this fact, the hotel was fine. It's a good base to go out and explore, but it is not somewhere that I would necessarily choose to go to spend any more than a long weekend. The hotel itself is fairly dated and very basic. However, the rooms themselves are more than ample in size, with a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. There was also a small garden for our room, which was a nice touch. The hotel itself isn't particularly close to the beach or restaurants. albeit there are some within a 10 - 15 minute walk and the Atlantis Marine Village and complex is a 10 minute walk away. There is a restaurant at the hotel, but it looked pretty basic and we didn't use it other than for breakfast. Staff were, generally, friendly and helpful.

    « Peacefull »

This hotel is a very convenient option to stay in, whenerver your are visiting Paradise Island..the rooms althought not new, are hommie and offered a lot of amenities that make you feel home, full kitchenaid, nice refrigerators and super clean...the beds are nice in size and the mattreses soft..!! to be honest for the price is an excelent option to stay in one of the most pricy island in the Bahamas...even it doesnt count with big restaurants or fancy layouts, it is located at a walking distance to the Atlantis Casino, restaurants and aquarium where you can spend time amousing yourself while drinking Bahamas Mamas or Goombay Smash !!! not pricy, quiet, hommie, and relaxing...will recommended...Thanks...

    « Overall, a good experience »

We stayed at this property with out two small kids. The restaurant doesn't have much variety but what they do have is good. The hamburgers are delicious. The pools were clean and the staff was nice. The housekeeping service was really great as we had a messy room with wet swim suits and two kids who constantly drop stuff. I appreciated having a kitchen so we bought from the grocery store (expensive!) that was about 10 minutes away. We could warm bottles and cook for the kids. The bed was comfortable but the pull out sofa, not so much. still, it was a good experience. the hotel is a ten minute walk from the beach.

« Nice Family Vacation in Nassau, Bahamas »

I Like this hotel, the room is very spacious and clean I also like the fact it has a nice size kitchen we were able to make good use it during our stay. The Atlantis is very close walking distance however it is hard to get around other places without one's own transportation we had to rely on taxi.

    5
« Tropical Hideaway on Paradise Island »

We had to stay in Nassau one night before heading out on a boat trip. The Best Western had a great rate and was close to the Marina we were leaving out of so I booked it. I was very surprised by how beautiful and tropical the grounds were. They had several pools, which were very nice and never had anyone using them. Our suite was very spacious and had everything we could want in a room. The hotel was within walking distance of Paradise Village Shopping Center. They had breakfast poolside in the morning, which was convenient, and a little store for items like snack or bottled water. We enjoyed our stay here and I would definitely stay there again when in Nassau.
