    « Pacifica, ca. »

This is my favorite hotel here in Rockaway Beach, Pacifica, ca. The quaint shops are so beautiful and my favorite one the Christmas shop, you will find things you can't find any where else. I love this relaxed, dog friendly little town.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Best place for a weekend getaway. We got a room with an ocean view. The view was breathe taking. There are really nice shops and restaurants near by. The fitness center is very nice and also has an ocean view. What better way to start your day then to work out facing the ocean! There are also beautiful trails around the hotel.

« Hotel room blunder ends happily »

I booked this room about 3 months prior to our visit (2 queen beds for a family of four). When I got to the front desk they told us they overbooked and only 1 king bed room was left. I told them this was unacceptable and would not work. After about 15 minutes of the hotel lobby clerk on the walkie talkie I was told they had just finished cleaning a queen room. It turns out the room was actually an upgrade because it had a full ocean view. We left the sliding door open during the night falling asleep to the pleasant sound of the waves. The room was a good size with nice layout and double sinks located outside the bathroom/shower which was great. This BW however did not have a free breakfast like most we've stayed at so we had to settle for fast food breakfast. Overall though, I would stay here again.

« Great location, nive view »

We booked via a third party agent and found out that they booked us a day later on than we actually arrived. The receptionist was really nice and understanding. We had an equally good room, only was more expensive that we originally booked for. The view was great, almost breath taking at times. It was great to chill out and walk around with our little dog. It took us only around 30 min to get to San Francisco.

« Great view easy for out of town visitors »

We had many people staying here for a family function. The rooms were clean and well appointed. The ocean views including the sounds of waves crashing was the key experience. Within walking distance to shops services and other restaurants not to mention the fun bowling alley. Just wish the staff had someplace else other than the parking lot to take their cigarette breaks. Noisy and smelly meant closing the door and not being able to fully take in the ocean experience

    « Beautiful Pacifica »

This was the perfect location for a relaxing 3-day Craft Retreat. Right on the water. Plenty of time to relax and unwind. The setting and view unbelievable. Had a few hiccups, but all in all, I'm ready to go back.

« The Pacific near SF »

Quite hotel on the sea side, to rest after a long trip (coming from Paris). Restaurant very chic with a great view on the beach, Room ok, standard and basic. Price a bit high for the overall. But helpful people.

    « Fabulous Location »

Lovely view from our hotel balcony. Isolated on a Pacific Ocean cove just minutes away from SFO. A really good restaurant on the property with other restaurants close by. Drift off to sleep to the sound of ocean waves rolling (sometimes crashing) on to shore.

    « Great location! »

Nice older hotel with a very good restaurant in the same building. Perfect location right on the beach. We had a partial view of the ocean, but still had the wonderful sound of the surf. Ocean-view rooms available. The room is very large and bed is comfortable. The only negative was the carpet is stained and in need of replacement. I would stay here again. Nice break on the price with AARP, Costco or AAA discount.

    « Lovely! »

We stayed one night and it was lovely! We had a king size bed with a partial view of the ocean. Although there was a restaurant in the middle of our viewing area, we still had a wonderful view of the ocean. Watching the sunset was amazing and peaceful. We enjoyed watching the waves and hearing the sounds of the ocean. The hotel is in a wonderful cove with several hiking trails on both sides. It was very enjoyable watching the waves splash up over the rocks and into the parking lot! We had a comfortable king size bed which was very comfortable. Our room was spacious and clean. Hope to visit again in the future.

    « My Hotel Stay »

I don't like this hotel but was part of a group...so I had to stay there. I have before and did not like it then. They should throw in a Full breakfast for what you pay for a room. It is somewhat user unfriendly, but luckily I only had to spend one night there.

    4
    « Worth the View »

This was a decent hotel which is showing a little wear. Room was large and clean. Fireplace did not work. However, the view was fabulous. The onsite restaurant was very nice, although a little pricy for the amount of food served. The Diner right next door was perfect for a hearty breakfast to get you on your way.

    5
« beautiful view of ocean »

Very clean and well maintained hotel. Be sure to try to get a room on ocean side. A little pricey but well worth it. Staff was very helpful. Easy access to highway and getting through frisco. View and ocean were amazing. Will definitely come back. .

« Lulled to sleep by the surf in Rockaway »

Our single night stay in Rockaway Beach was everything we hoped for. The Pacifica Ocean, framed by the beautiful cove was visible right outside our sliding door with small standing balcony. Walking paths provided access to beautiful ocean and hillside views. A variety of restaurants, including the Moonraker with spectacular view in the hotel, offered just enough options to provide a choice without being too difficult to decide where to go. Clean comfortable rooms.

    2
« good location, poor thought into the layout »

You get what you pay for. going to bash this place, as you really do get what you pay for. $230 for a partial ocean view room in the bay area? when I think of partial ocean view, I think of seeing the ocean, blocked by the room balcony or maybe another building. my partial ocean view was a full left to right view to the horizon...the problem was 2 story lobby and restaurant was in front of my 4 story room, full of sea gulls and painted in sea gull white. without the sea gulls and poop I would have been much more satisfied, but even then, the halls are very musty and the dated. Staff was ok...gave us a credit for the unruly family of a mother cursing at her screaming kids at 8 in the morning, right next door. I will say the room was nice and clean...and that's great if you show up and leave in the dark. I don't want to sound high maintenance because I'm really not, but I likely will not be staying here unless I could get one of the rooms away from the lobby/Moonraker.

« my wifes bucket list »

me and my wife ,we have been coming here for years, my wife has cancer now and told she didn't have long to live we are fighting it everyday ,she love this place, the views from the room, the sound of the ocean , the peace and serenity of just looking out of our room and the good food just makes for the perfect time together THANK YOU SO MUCH !!( I'm crying like a baby right now)

« Couple days at the beach before a wedding inland »

Stayed two nights here before a wedding inland. Hotel room was clean and updated and fairly quiet. You can hear neighbor's doors close if they don't close them without letting them slam which they do if you just let go. Staff were friendly and helpful. Hallways and the exterior could use some updating. For the price you're pretty much right on the beach and if on the 4th floor have a view, but until you see the room, location and view you may be asking yourself why you're paying so much when the exterior, parking garage and hallways need some cleaning and paint or just a general refresh. Maybe it is the ware and tare from the ocean proximity and salt air - not sure, but some aspects could use a little TLC. Great proximity to the city and airport. We were able to get in to SF for a Giants game Saturday with no issue and the drive was relatively traffic free.

    3
    « No breakfast!! »

The location was great but I have never stayed in a Best Western that did not offer complementary breakfast! There was a very good restaurant onsite and they gave 10% discount to hotel guests but still...

    4
    « Clean comfortable rooms »

We had a great time here. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a partial ocean view, and I could see whales spouting in the distance. The deal we had included breakfast and what they called a limited menu was amazing. The moonraker restraint sits literally right on the water and the food was priced very reasonable for the area. My wife is a germaphobe and planned to sleep on a sleeping bag on the bed, but she approved of the bedding and bed provided. This is a fun spot and better than the other places right next door. Watch out for festivals and nice weather, because folks can make driving slow.

    5
« Nice place to stay at next to the beach »

This is the second time we've stayed at this hotel and we love it. The staff is very professional and courteous and the rooms are very clean! We are hoping to go back to this hotel sometime in December, or January!

« Watch the whales play! »

This hotel was a great place to stay south of San Francisco. I had appointments in San Francisco and about an hour south of San Francisco, so this location was right in the middle. Located RIGHT on the ocean I saw whales playing from my seat in the restaurant. The hotel is not modern, but the wi-fi was good and the access to the highway was quick. However there is no cellular service (AT&T) until about 1/4 mile up the road. Staff was very kind and efficient. Rates very good compared to hotels in San Francisco, especially for being right on the water.

    3
    « Beach front »

This is a typical beach hotel, staff are efficient and get you into your room. The high lite of this hotel is the beachfront rooms, no air but with an open window waves crashing on the beach is great. Little quaint shops around the hotel, not a lot to do but relax.

    4
    « Great location »

I chose this hotel because of its proximity to the San Francisco airport. I liked that it was an easy drive to it and the city, but wasn't in the city. It's very peaceful and relaxing in Pacifica and the ocean waves could be heard from my room. The hotel layout is a little confusing, but they give you a map when you check in and that's very helpful. I had a comfortable king bed in a large, clean room. My one wish for the room was to have outlets or usb outlets available near the bed. The only place to charge my phone was at the desk across the room. I was able to enjoy the hot tub during my stay. It was clean, but again, the building layout had me confused about how to get into the pool area.

« Our experience at Best Western Pacifica »

Accomodations were as advertised unlike other hotels we stayed at. Never a surprise at a Best Western. The view from the oceanfront rooms was amazing, almost right in the surf. Breakfast at the hotel in the morning would have been nice but not available although the dinners were very good.

    5
    « Best Customer Service »

The staff from the moment we booked this hotel was extremely accommodating. Upon arrival we were treated with exceptional warmth and professionalism. The establishment is clean and the view is absolutely phenomenal from both the room and the restaurant above the lobby which has a panoramic view over the ocean. Truly a very enjoyable stay and we look forward to coming back!

« Great place to stay! »

If your looking for a great place to stay with Ocean view stay here. Get a cove room, you'll be sure to get plenty of Whale sightings. We stayed a week and it was really nice. Housekeeping is superb. We asked only for what we needed and got extra ... making our bed was nice though not a must on a longer stay. Don't expect sheets changed everyday, not necessary. Anyway, call direct for reservations. You'll save $ rather than going through say Expedia for example! Cha ching! Talk to Matt if you can, he's awesome! And the waffle robes are a nice touch to have for use!

« Back at the Light House Inn »

We often stay at the Light House Inn Best Western in Pacifica. We love the hotel near the Ocean. We love rock-away beach. We do feel a little pampered at the Light House Inn Best Western. Plenty of towels. Service in a moments notice from courteous staff. Fresh baked cookies!

    4
    « Ahhhh !! the ocean »

I love the sound of the surf when I sleep. I love walking along the beach early mourning and praying. Slider open, surf crashing, good cup of coffee, no one up yet, reading the word and having coffee. Soooooooo Gooooooood

    « Nice! »

20 min south from Frisco with free parking and ocean view. The hotel itself is not the newest one but clean and perfect for day trips to Bay Area. Staff and front desk are perfect. The interior is simple but accurate, the bathroom is clean and functional. All in all perfect for a 4 day trip to San Francisco!

    5
« Great View of the ocean »

We loved this hotel! We booked a room facing the ocean and the view was amazing (The rooms was pricey). The balcony is not a walk-out but you can open the sliding doors and look out at the ocean, The room was spacious and updated. The hotel has an outdoor heated pool and fitness center. They have a restaurant on site and they offered us a 10% off for breakfast, for the price we paid it would have been better if they offered complimentary breakfast. At our arrival they provided warm cookies for the kids; which they loved. The staff was also very nice. I think this is much better option than staying in Sanfrancisco.

    « Disappointed »

the room smelled like body oder, little hairs everywhere, couldn't open slider due to smokers next to me, was placed on hold a few times and had to be called back a few times, did not get room reservations correct, almost had to split rooms due to the length of stay, people up stairs running in room and for what you pay to stay there doesn't seem far.

    « A Wonderful View »

This is the property you look forward to waking up in the morning walking on the beach with a hot cup of coffee in your hand and enjoying the view of the pacific ocean. Our room was clean. No noise pollution. The shops were around the corner. The main city is only 40 min. away. Dancing and live music is across the street.

    3
« Nice but not great. »

Stayed for two nights midweek on an ocean view room. Room was clean and updated. The rest of the facility not so much. For the price one can probably do better. Walls are a bit thin and rooms noisy. Service was good. Location is great, with an excellent restaurant and a great breakfast place next door.

« Best Western Plus Lighthouse Hotel »

We stayed as part of a family gathering for a funeral. The front desk staff were very thoughtful and helpful--after we located the Registration Lobby which we found after driving around and through the building for several minutes..and then only because we met one of our family members who had just checked in and gave us directions. We had a room with a fantastic view of the ocean, and the restaurant is really excellent--service, cuisine and wine list. The rooms and the hotel are badly in need of updating and renovation, however. In our opinion, the hotel itself is a good destination point because of the outstanding views and the excellent quality restaurant.

« Not great, not even good. Property and staff need help. »

Website pictures are not accurate. I booked a king bed with Ocean view. When I checked in I got a room with a view of the parking lot and the ocean. When I called and asked if there was a different room without a view of the parking lot they told me I booked the BEST room you can possibly get online but if I wanted to upgrade it would be an extra $100. I said ok and they told me to come to the front desk to change rooms. I walked back to the front desks and when I got there it was a different person than I spoke to minutes ago on the phone and she said they don't have any better rooms for me to upgrade to. When I told her I was literally just told 3 minutes ago they had it she said "sorry he told you that, we don't". She said I could go look at another room like my current room to see if it was better. So I went to that room and nope, it was they same, a parking lot with the ocean farther back. She told me that she would discount my stay for my disappointment and troubles. Ok, I said and went back to my gross room looking at a parking lot. The inside of the rooms are dingy and dark and the pictures on the site look much better than what it is. When I checked out this morning and looked at my bill.....no discount. So I was lied to twice. They have a room, then they don't. They will give me a discount, and then they didn't. Not ever going back. Not only because of the condition of the property but their staff is clearly untrained on their lodging system and they don;t follow through on compensation offered.

« Wonderful stay directly at the Pacific Ocean »

Very nice hotel with a stunning view at the Pacific Ocean, complete with passing whales and sea lions! The interior of the hotel and restaurant is a little bit out dated, but the rooms are clean (great beds) and the service of the personnel is great. The view from the restaurant (and the sea view rooms) is amazing. The a la carte menu for breakfast, lunch and diner is very good.

    « Called a Liar »

We checked into our "Deluxe King Room" and immediately smelled cigarette smoke. I called down to tell the front desk and they said they would send some one. The guy came and smelled it and sprayed a bunch of stuff on the carpet and told us to keep the sliding door open. We did but it still smelled. I called down to tell them we'd like another room and they told me they didn't have any. I said, well then I want a discount on my room because I booked a non-smoking room. They said I was lying and that housekeeping didn't smell any....I told them that they guy they sent up smelled it bad and they could ask him....then they gave me the discount. The bed was also lumpy and very old.

« Nice place on the sea »

This was my first time on the Pacific coast highway and what a neat place to have a hotel and reasturaunt and lounge. This was a really neat place to stay. For those that want a adventure don't expec to swim in warm sea water because it is cold!

    « Hotel needs overhaul-checking out early! »

I brought my kids here for a vacation after reading that this was the #1 hotel in Pacifica. We wanted a nice place to stay outside of the San Francisco area. The website pictures do not show the real state of this hotel. I am currently writing this review in the middle of the night on day 1, and we were supposed to stay for 4 nights. We will be checking out as soon as it is daylight. I am probably out what I spent on this hotel, which is crazy, but we cannot spend one more night here. For starters, when we pulled in, the outside of the hotel is in need of some paint and renovation. Screens were falling off of patio doors, trash in the parking garage, and balconies with wood missing or hanging off. The area itself is old, so I figured maybe it would be better inside. The elevators smell terrible, the carpet is dirty and looks to be from the 1980s and wallpaper is falling off in spots. The rooms itself look to have been fairly updated, but the carpets are still pretty dirty. We knew this place didn't have air conditioning, but figured we'd be able to open a window. Instead, we are roasting in here because our patio door has no screen, and the room overlooks a parking lot where people are sleeping in their cars overnight. I can hear one car honk its horn every few minutes! There's no way I'd leave the door wide open on this room, and there are no other Windows. They only had a king size bed available, so I paid $15/night extra to get a cot for one of my kids. The mattress is so thin that the springs are poking through, making it useless. So me and my 2 kids are all in one bed, sweating from not being able to get any air. There was leftover food in the mini fridge from a past guest, and the toilet keeps running/refilling every few minutes. The door has such a large crack at the bottom that the hall light is pouring in, making the room too bright to sleep. The staff seemed pleasant, and the beach itself is pretty, but do yourself a favor and spend the $230+ or more on a different place, probably not in Pacifica at all. Ran into a homeless person asking for food or money at the grocery store down the road (which with just me and 2 kids is rather unnerving) and the area just isn't what it looked to be online. I don't have a lot of extra $$ to throw away but we just cannot stay here another night. Am hoping someone at Best Western will have mercy and refund my $, but I booked through Priceline so I'm not hopeful.

    « website a fantasy »

This hotel is in a great location but the website's gallery showed pictures that were not true to our experience. The rooms were dreary; the carpets were stained; the curtains and other decor very old and worn. The bathrooms had been remodeled and were nice and clean. The bed was comfortable, and the staff were very nice.

    « Seaside Pacific »

An extremely relaxing stay with the ocean waves breaking feet away. Love to sleep to the sound! The staff are very courteous and willing to help at any time. The swimming pool and hot tub are very relaxing & a small gym is available.

    2
    « bad service »

we had a large group at this hotel and received very poor service with check in, group breakfast event, and very poor customer service. when expressing our concerns and requests to meet the needs of our group the staff was not responsive and never resolved the issues. We would not stay there again for our events. They are better with individual guests and tourists.

    5
« Beautiful setting and great service »

This property is right on the beach with a beautiful view. We saw the whales from our room window and listened to the surf from or room. Service was also great providing us with a quick response to our needs. Also enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Convenient to San Francisco sights .

« Nice Location, But Rooms Very Worn »

We loved hearing the crashing of the waves outside our room. This made for nice naps and cool evenings, so we slept well while staying at the Best Western. However, the rooms were a bit tired and there were stains on the carpet. We were placed in an ocean side room (which we paid for), but it overlooked a parking lot (not very picturesque). So, we asked to be moved and we were able to be accommodated. This was good on their part. However, the 2nd room had stained carpets as well. So, it's a bit overpriced in my books, for the quality of the rooms. You are definitely paying for the location, which is right along the ocean. There are plenty of opportunities to hike and run right from the hotel, which was nice. My husband and I ran each morning to a breakfast place with good coffee (red caboose, can't remember the name of it) about a 1/2 mile away. You really could get away with parking your car and not using it until it's time to go, as there are plenty of places to eat, including a nice restaurant in the hotel. Hope this review helps!

« Best Hotel near San Francisco »

The room was beautiful and clean. We had an ocean view and had quite a show of whale activity straight off of our balcony. We enjoyed the property so much, we stayed and had dinner there rather than travel into San Francisco. The pool and hot tub are spotless and the staff is very friendly. Every staff member we encountered said hello and welcome. Maybe most importantly, the bed was extremely comfortable. I was thoroughly impressed in every way.

    « California Experience »

The Best Western chain of hotels always makes our stay a happy one! This hotel was right on the water and was a bit windy but the view was gorgeous. The building itself is older but looks like it has been refurbished recently and was very comfortable. My family enjoyed the pool and we really loved watching the whales from the windows at breakfast in The Moonraker!! Recommend this hotel highly.

    « A diamond in the rough »

Surprising great stay! I don't usually stay at BW hotels - but this BW Plus was truly a diamond in the rough. Nice, clean, and the location was second to none! OUTSTANDING sunsets, whale watching and the sounds and that was from our room!

    « Very enjoyable experience. »

To paraphrase Mark Twain: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in Foggy Pacifica." The hotel was really great. Fresh coffee either in your room or in the Lobby. The beds were quite comfortable, the maid service was extremely efficient & you could fall asleep or wake up to the sound of the surf. We had a room with a view of the beach & we could watch the surf fisherman & the surfers waiting to "Catch a wave." We walked & hiked along the beach trails & from the top of the big switchback hill you could see Pacifica Pier. Bring jackets & sweaters, although when the sun comes out, shorts are o.k. It's easy access, by car, to Bart, if you want to go into San Francisco. Drive carefully in the fog. We had a great stay :)

« Whale watching at a great hotel. »

Excellent service and location in San Francisco. Watched whales from excellent view from room and restaurant. Had a wonderful time. Great location. Area is safe and friendly. Local shops are wonderful and helpful. Felt like at home with old friends.

« Not really a dog friendly hotel. To be avoided. »

We booked this hotel with trip advisor. We wanted to stay here because we were told that this was a pet friendly hotel. We called to inquire exactly what the pet fees were. At that time we were told the dogs over 40 pounds were not allowed. We were also told that certain breeds are not allowed. This is not stated on their website so we did not know this up front. Our dog is a member of our family so he is coming on vacation with us. We just won't be staying at this hotel. The lady we spoke to at the hotel on the phone about this was very rude. I recommend pet owner avoid this hotel.

    « Wedding »

Everyone was helping and pleasant. The rooms were little expensive but it was the weekend and the 4th of July. I would most likely stay there again. We were so close to the beach and the whales were swimming so close to the shore. The town was small but had a lot to offer for entertainment. The fireworks were awesome. Very cold though. You will need warm clothes and a jacket for sure.

« Great Hotel, Amazing location »

My Husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Lighthouse hotel in Pacifica for his birthday. We thoroughly enjoyed our two nights there. The staff was friendly, Rooms were big, we stayed in a king room, bed was super comfy, nothing crazy fancy, but it was great. A nice standard room in a hotel.... But with amazing views. I have heard some reviews of smells..... We did have a slight odor of what smelt like BO near the sliding glass door. I really didn't notice it much, but my husband did. I think it might have been the curtains. But no big deal. Wasn't too strong and certainly didn't take over the smell of the room. We were considered a non ocean view room, but we could still see the ocean when we went to our Sliding glass door. So beautiful!!!!! I would most definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends. And we look forward to going back for another weekend sometime, hopefully sooner then later. A great place to relax. Trails near by to hike.... Mori point is beautiful on a sunny day. Pacifica is a charming town. This is the place to stay! Thank you.

    « Below Expectation »

Being a Oceanside resort with prices in the mid 200's per night certain expectations are created. This was not what was expected. I booked an ocean view room and ended up with a quasi-ocean view. Looking straight out the window resulted in looking at a hill on the other side of a public parking lot. To the left of the view could be seen the ocean. The hotel is in fair to poor condition. Windows in the hallways are water damaged, wall coverings are dirty in many places both inside and outside of the room, and the hotel presents as tired and in need of updating. Could not recommend this hotel.

    3
« Overpriced and over-rated for what you get! »

We had originally planned to stay a few nights but one was enough. The hotel is in desparate need of an upgrade, and it has a strange layout. Close to the Ocean Pacifica does not have the most scenic of waterfronts or beach-sometime the hotel is happy to charge you extra for! Given the rates charged for the rooms they were nothing special and there is no free breakfast included in one's price. Typically good Best Western staff values and they try to do what they can to make a stay better, which was an uphill struggle for them sadly. Not a place we would ever consider returning to.

We stayed one night in room 123,it was dark when we arrived, but we could hear the waves rolling in and out it was a nice sound to go to sleep to.The next morning we woke up to the sounds of crashing waves, and with a beautiful view of the ocean and to our surprise Whales. Now for the room, there was no microwave in the room,we called the front desk and the young lady said she would send one up,and within 3 mins there was a young man knocking on our door with a microwave (I called that great services). My only complaint is the carpet was dirty and the furniture was old & dingy. The walls could use some paint. Bed was very comfortable. You have the view so why not make the rooms stand out example each room number could be done in sea shells, the room walls could be sea green with white beadboard and dark wood floors,Nautical bedding & wall decorations. also turn the bed to face the ocean view.

    « Great location »

Right on the beach, beautiful view and large clean rooms and comfortable beds. Very nice employees who were very helpful. Loved watching the whales just down the beach, it was exciting. Hotel could use some update. Room rates were high, but it is summer time and right on the beach.

« Nice View, Nice Location - Hotel is okay. »

This is my first time staying at a Best Western. We stayed here for a wedding. This hotel has FANTASTIC views. It is a very short walk from the hotel to the ocean viewing area. While we were there, we saw a whale and awesome sunsets. The hotel itself is kinda outdated, but compared to the adjacent hotels/motels, this is probably one of the best ones. The hotel is in need of an upgrade, and has a weird layout. I am assuming the layout is so that each room has a view of the ocean. The staff is awesome and very accommodating. We got there early like noon and they were able to get us a room even though check-in wasn't til 3pm. There is an outdoor pool and hot tub but please be advised it can get cold in Pacifica so we didn't use the pool. The pool is heated and lots of ppl were using it. There is also a gym but we did not use it either. The rooms are your typical hotel rooms, nothing fancy. If you ever stayed in the Sahara Hotel or Tropicanna in Las Vegas, the room is old-fashioned like that. There is free Wifi, a coffee maker and a fridge. There is no safe in the room, but you can ask for one in the lobby (which is on a first come first serve basis). There are also microwaves available also on a first-come first serve basis. There is plenty of free parking in the garage. Just need to leave your license plate with the front desk if you are a guest. The rooms do not have air conditioning as it gets cold in Pacifica, so we slept with the balcony door open and it was relaxing to hear the crashing of the waves; just be prepared to smell food coming from the restaurant if your room is anywhere near the restaurant. (It was nice to wake up to the smell of bacon). Since there's no "free breakfast buffet" for this hotel, you need to go to Moonraker (which is attached to the hotel). I found the prices reasonable (as compared to New York, where i'm from) however I did find the service a bit slow in the morning. The restaurant has fantastic views of the ocean. I did not eat here for dinner or lunch. There are other options nearby as far as food is concerned: If you drive towards Cabrillo Highway - if you make a left, there's Gorrilla BBQ, a Taqueria, a steak and seafood place. If you make a right instead, there's a Taco Bell and some mexican spots in a strip mall, and there's another strip mall with Starbucks, McDonalds, Donut Time, etc. Across the street from the hotel is Nicks, which has some good seafood, and there's an old fashioned burger/milkshake diner behind the garage. The hotel is also walking distance to some awesome hiking trails with great views of the ocean, so if hiking and beach/surfing is your thing, this hotel is a good spot. I did think it was pricey for what it was, but then again everything is expensive in the Bay Area. You need a car to get around here so hopefully you have a rental car. The airport and San Francisco is about 20 minutes away. It does get cold in Pacifica, but if you go inland it is HOT, so make sure you pack both a jacket/hoodie and summer clothes, if you decide to go inland. (San Fran is kinda cold as well, but if you decide to go to San Jose, Oakland, etc, it is hot there). I would definitely come back here.

« Great ocean views - with whales - but room was a bit tired »

Stayed here in an ocean view room for the last two nights of a three week trip around several National Parks. We were flying out of San Fran and wanted a sea view after all our time inland. Eventually settled on the Lighthouse Hotel in Pacifica - close enough to the airport, right on the coast and yet a little bit away from it all. Our room had a nice view out over the bay but the room itself was tired with well worn and marked furnishings - that said everything worked. Our room rate had breakfast included and I was glad I had a print out of my confirmation as this threw the check in clerk who seemed to doubt the option even existed. Breakfast was in the attached Moonraker restaurant with marvellous views out over the ocean and although the included choice was limited to only three options it was pretty good. Would have been a bit so so about the place but we got lucky and there were Whales in the bay - close enough to see easily from the shore - lots of whales breaking water quite frequently - more than one a minute at peak whale. They were there while we had dinner the first night (at Moonraker - good but brilliant with added whales) and again at breakfast the next day. Then the apperances tailed off and although we could see the occasional spout in the distance they didn't come in so close again. Don't know how lucky we were as the hotel said the whales were there 'all the time' - maybe but you can't seem them clearly all the time as we could the first evening/second morning. Without whales the area and hotel are a little bit scruffy but with whales who cares!

    « Immaculate views »

We booked our stay late the night before, and were pleasantly surprised to get a room there. When we checked in, we were almost two hours early, but the front desk staff were able to accommodate us and even upgraded us to a room with an awesome ocean view. We slept like babies, listening to the ocean waves pound the rocks all night.

    « Great Stay »

The hotel though it seems a bit pricey was pretty comparable to others in the area and they allowed us to bring our dogs for just a $40 charge. The staff was friendly, accomodating and the room was comfortable. I will be staying again in the future.

« Decent chain hotel experience »

The view was the best part of the hotel. The beds were average and the room was clean but your typical hotel room. I felt like for the price breakfast should be included. No complaints or problems to report.

    « AMAZING LOCATION-OVER PRICED! »

This was not my first time staying here. So i knew what to expect. 21st wedding anniversary. We checked into our room & it stunk of smoke. We got a different room and it was OK. Heres the deal. This hotel has the best ocean front location. Whales visible from the hotel (june). It's an amazing property. The hotel itself is a bit run down and the layout is terrible. Example: the beds face the parking lot view and not the ocean view. There is a terrible thick railing/fence contraption that blocks the ocean view if u're sitting down. (thanks eric clapton)! they could deal with the bed thing easy enough.?? Not the cleanest hotel on earth with aged carpets etc. The staff was helpful and did knock $30 off for the room stink thing. Love the resteraunt and its perfect view!! In my opinion the Hotel is overpriced due to its bad layout and out dated-ness.

« stay here for the views, not the hotel »

Unbelievable to see whales and surfers from our room, with those fantastic ocean views. However, the hotel is tired and needs new paint and some freshening up. Pool and hot tub nice (although pretty cold and windy when we were there). Felt like price was too high for the building--so it must be the coastal location. Breakfast isn't included and few options nearby.

    « No A/c »

The rooms don't have A/C and if you open the windows to cool the room you get the smell from the kitchens This is a tired hotel. We were a group of 24 and were forced to have breakfast between 7 am and 8 am on a Saturday and Sunday .No Toast was available No Laundry

« Close to SFO airport »

We stayed here one night after arriving at SFO. It is about a 20 minute drive from the airport and has a very beautiful view. This little part of Pacifica was a cute little tourist area. We happened upon a great farmers market on Wednesday afternoon. The hotel itself does not look very appealing from the outside and it can be a very long and confusing walk from reception to the room. Many wings and long hallways. The room and bathroom was clean. We would see the ocean and hear the waves at night. We ate at the hotel restaurant, Moonraker, for breakfast for a 10% discount. Disappointed with NO continental breakfast but there was free parking. There is no air conditioning but with the ocean breezes we did not miss it. I would stay again.

« Lovely location, pricey for the quality »

My family rented a partial ocean view room for 225$ (after AAA discount) a night. For this neighborhood, I guess that is a good price. We had room 356 at the end of a hall, which was a nice BIG room. Unfortunately, that end of the hall is directly across from a big restaurant, so there was alot more street noise than I wanted. Also, I sympathizer about how the ocean sprays mess with the windows, but we could hardly see out the windows they were so dirty. The location is lovely, right on the water. I saw whales every morning (not through my dirty windows, had to walk down to the water) Front desk was pretty clueless on every occasion, so it's a good thing we didn't need much! Great espresso the next street over at Pacifica Cafe Espresso.

« Close to the ocean and worth it! »

I usually stay in Half Moon Bay when I visit this part of the coast, but I am thrilled I chose Pacifica and this hotel. I really wanted to be in an ocean front room, have a sliding glass door open, and listen to the waves while sleeping. I also wanted waves rather than a Bay. While the hotel is older and not so pretty on the outside, the room cleanliness, comfort, location, service and affordability for ocean front stays is TERRIFIC! I will return for sure.

    « wonderful! »

The ocean view was absolutely wonderful and worth the money. Would advise upstairs. We had room 19 which was a beautiful view of the ocean. But didn't feel comfortable at night leaving the sliding door open.

    5
    « Location is awesome! »

This is a great place to stay if you will be visiting the San Francisco area. Plenty of restaurants nearby and easy access to San Francisco. Would definitely stay here again. Right on the ocean and the staff could not have been friendlier.

« Pleasant surprise, comfortable and clean! »

I am a sucker for bathrobes in a room, bathrobes and real (not plastic) glasses! Well we did have the robes and a spacious, although dated, room. The beds were comfortable and fresh. This location is great, could hear the ocean at night. Plenty of inside parking. While there is heat, but no air conditioning, as it is generally cool by the water. We had lunch in their restraint, The Moonraker, also very good. The staff is warm and friendly, all in all a nice visit!

    « A spectacular location and a lovely hotel »

We decided to stay here for one night prior to going to SFO, so that we wouldn't have to negotiate the dreadful traffic jams elsewhere around the Bay area and risk missing our flight. Pacifica is on the west coast of the peninsula and only 15 minutes to the airport on the east coast. This area is part of an extensive national park of which Rockaway beach is only a tiny part. But it is certainly a very dramatic part with cliffs on either side of the bay and surf crashing onto the beach, spraying everything and even spilling onto the ocean-side pavements and roads. The hotel is part of a building which included the well known Moonraker restaurant. There was ample covered parking, but it could be a long walk to the reception. There were luggage trolleys available to borrow but no porter service. Check in was fast and friendly. We were told that the only breakfast they had was coffee, tea and fruit. But we could have breakfast at the Moonraker with a 10% discount for in-house guests. The room was large and very comfortable. We had a view across the pool towards the sea, which was perhaps better than right up to the surf because we would be well salted all over by the spray if we stood on the balcony. There was free wifi, a fridge and a safe. The area around the hotel housed a number of shops and restaurants, worthy of a little walk through. I made a reservation for dinner at the Moonraker restaurant at sunset. However they had happy hour drinks, oysters and fish and chips, so we decided to start early. The oysters were lovely and we ate two dozen. The fish and chips were also the best we have ever had, with crisp light batter and truffle fries. We ended up too full for a proper dinner. The restaurant had full length glass panes that allowed an awesome view of the ocean from almost every seat in the place. From thinking of this merely as a convenient staging post for the airport, we quickly decided that this was a good destination of choice for a holiday as well.

    « Fabulous Hotel »

We stayed two nights in the Best Western Plus in Pacifica. The lady at the front desk, I think her name was Irene, was fabulous! The room overlooked the ocean and we could hear the waves breaking. It was so wonderful as well as the view. The rooms are clean, beautiful and the staff is top notch. We highly recommend this hotel if you're in the area.

    « Great Stay overall »

Great staff, great rooms , great pool/spa, great views. Myself, my daughter and granddaughter (4) went for a weekend of fun. Great place to stay, nothing negative to say at all about this place. We didn't use the restaurant but it looked good as well.

    « More door issues!!!! »

First we stayed here because of the good reviews, but we were disappointed again. They really need to get a handle on their maintenance personnel in California. We were leaving for the day and our door wouldn't lock. I tried to explain to the maintenance man that the mechanism in the door was bad but he insisted that it was the jam plate. After he worked on the plate and that didn't fix it, he had to get more parts. So we relocated to the room directly below our current room, so we were able to head out for our day in San Francisco. We had door issues in Anaheim 2 days prior so, we were a little frustrated. We really did miss the typical Best Western breakfasts as there is no breakfast here and we were not even told about any vouchers for the restaurant up stairs. For this hotel, all you are paying for is a view. We were lightly compensated for the relocation of rooms, but given the price and lack of amenities, the price value for this Best Western is terrible. We have stayed at 11+ Best Westerns from the east coast to the west coast and this one is at the bottom of the list.

    « great customer service »

I am a resident of Pacifica and my niece came down from Rocklin to surprise me for the weekend so I decided to get a room in the hotel. I was very pleased and proud of my little town of Pacifica to have such a nice hotel right in our back yard. The front desk clerk was very nice and polite he provided extra towels and had someone come up with new key cards since ours were not working he just went the extra mile. I will be recommending this hotel to family and friends. Thanks so much for a great weekend.

« HIDDEN GEM ON THE BEACH »

If you are looking for a great room on the beach with pounding surf sounds, whales and dolphins milling about, and the best crab sandwhich on the Planet, you found it, Rockaway Beach. Moonraker or Nicks, you have wonderful options for fine wining and dining, great music, beautiful hiking trails to take in the breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, and friendly staff will complete your stay. We will keep coming back whether it's friends, family, or just a get away with my husband.

    « Loved Pacifica »

A beachfront room without a noisy crowd in close proximity to San Francisco/Daly City/Half Moon Bay on Memorial Weekend! I absolutely loved our stay in Pacifica! The hotel was beautiful and the staff was professional and helpful in every aspect. We had the Cove Room and it was a lovely view and the crashing waves were like a lullaby! I was skeptical about the hotel based on reviews that the rooms were dated but the ambiance and scenery definitely made every other detail minute. We will return next Memorial Weekend!

    « Great Hotel »

We enjoyed our stay here. Great location, walking distance to trails, restaurants, bowling, shopping, spas and more. The view was only really able to be seen if you stood at the sliding glass door which was disappointing but it was nice to hear the ocean. We would stay here again!

    5
    « Gorgeous Crashing Waves »

This is a lovely hotel that sits between two big beautiful hills that you can hike with AMAZING VIEWS of the Pacific Ocean. I will stay here again just for the hiking! Matt and Angelique at the front desk are so kind and Matt knows all kinds of stuff about the hiking and the area so do ask. I was very grateful for the ocean view that I was given, and I can't wait to go back!

    4
    « Pleasant Stay »

This was a pleasant stay overall. Clean, great staff, nice room and the hotel was right next to the ocean and we had a slight view of the waves from our room. Pet friendly for sure, although not much pet area. We really missed the free breakfast that most Best Westerns usually offer.

« A bit off the super highway »

The room was great if the idea of ocean view was not my own (I could look far south and see a slice of ocean (20 degrees of my view while the rest of remaining 160 degrees was a disgusting roof fans and back of the floors that actually had real ocean view.

« One of if not the best hotels in the Rockaway Beach area. »

Hotel is reasonably priced and much more accommodating than the other hotels in the Rockaway Beach area. Great views and close to all the things travelers are looking for when visiting the Pacific coast. Have stayed or carefully researched all the other hotels nearby and this is my favorite.

    « Great Get away »

Whether you are coming from near or far, the Best Western Lighthouse Hotel is a great place to spend sometime looking at the water, eating great food, and dancing (on weekends ) at Nick's. Whether you want to do some hiking, or drive and see the beautiful scenery you can't go wrong.

    « Nice surprise »

Thought this place would be shabby, but don't judge the book by its cover. This location is fantastic! Right on the ocean. The waves crashing just below our room was like a sleeping pill:) It wasn't new or fancy, but our room was spacious, the beds, comfortable, and the view was fantastic. Nice staff. Clean. I feel it important to mention that those hills you see from the hotel can be hiked for some breathtaking views, in case you are bored and looking for something else to do. Get in your car for a good cup of coffee as there is none to be had for a mile or two.

    4
    « Very nice stay »

Spent three nights here doing a visit to San Francisco. This is an older facility but is well kept and in excellent condition. The room was a mini suite and very spacious. The view of the ocean was very. The hotel is about 10 feet from the beach. The restaurant was great for breakfast. Did not have dinner in the hotel. You get a 10% discount on your restaurant food bill. My only significant negative was the spotty wifi. Very big dissatisfier!

    2
« Check rates quoted versus what is charged to you »

If it wasn't for the almost $30/per night discrepancy I would give this a higher rating since we stayed for 3 nights. The service at the front desk would be great but do not deal with Matt as he has a tendency to embellish a lot. Make sure when you make your reservations it is not with Matt.

    4
    « Amazing hotel »

We stayed for 1 night only on our last night in California and we thought this hotel was lovely, comfortable rooms lovely pool and spa and view of bay was lovely, we even saw breaching humpback whales in bay!

    « Potentially a hidden gem. »

I had one of the best rooms in the hotel and that is what was awesome. I watched the sun set over the pacific ocean from my bed. This was so awesome. I hesitated to give this hotel a 5 star rating because it is pricey for kind of being a typical best western. I loved my room. You can hike right from the hotel though because of the rainy weather there weren't enough people around for me to go hiking alone. Once the weather improved though people came out and I went and it was just great! So, it all depends I guess on whether or not things would work out for you if you stayed here. I ended up here to recover after being in San Francisco for a few days to help my daughter get a place to move there so I was looking for rest and I got that here.

    4
    « Close To SFO »

Wanted a hotel close to the SFO and this was perfect. An Easy 15 minutes to get there.Located on Rockaway Beach in Pacifica this was an excellent choice.Easy to get to and plenty of parking.Getting around inside was a bit more challenging but once you get acclimated it was easy.Asked for joining rooms since there were 6 of traveling together back in December but could not do but we were close. We still had a good view of the ocean even though not an ocean front.Glad we saved the money there. No breakfast included but an excellent diner right nex tdoor.Rooms were comfy and clean.Staff was efficient.Would be nice if they had shuttles to the Pier and other spots of interest .Even with a small fee this would be easier than trying to drive or find rides which we did manage to do.Did not try the resturaunt.Would have loved to stroll the beach but time did not permit.

after a long week on the road this was a much needed day of relaxation and this hotel will not let you down. I had a room with a full ocean view and the sound of the breaking waves is the most relaxing sound in the world. the rooms are very clean and well decorated. The staff is very friendly and can help you with any needs. I will be back again and again.

    « Suberb Location »

Right on the surf, an amazing location, the restaurant is really excellent. The rooms are good but the décor is dated. We went there as we were flying out of SFO early morning which was 10 minutes drive, so was a great alternative to airport hotels.

The hotel rooms were very clean, the beds are super comfortable, the view is spectacular. I was very happy I chose this hotel. Also the restaurant had fantastic food and great prices. We had breakfast every morning in the restaurant over looking the ocean, watching the surfers.

    « Beautiful Location »

We arrived a little late but just in time for a beautiful sunset. We reserved 2 rooms, 1 was a king size bed which they nicely upgraded to a ocean view. The bed was comfortable and the room was nicely updated. The 2nd room was a room with 2 queen beds but if was over sized so we were able to put a roll away bed in there also. I would like to return for a longer stay in the future. I don't really recommend the restaurant I felt it was overpriced.

    « Such a disappointment »

We arrived at the hotel for our honeymoon yesterday and have been disappointed. The pictures are very deceiving as it shows a balcony and there is not one. You can't even step out on their "step-out" as its about 6" wide. We where looking forward to sitting out and watching the sunset which we have to now do from the office chair inside the room. In addition, there is not even a microwave inside our room or a blow dryer in sight. I don't know the last time I stayed in a hotel that didn't have these items. I expected much more for the price we are paying to stay here in our ocean view room for the entire week. I guess next time I'll have to pick a hotel that has basic amenities, we won't be staying here again. I'm even more frustrated right now as I just called to schedule an in-room massage as listed on their website and was told to google massage and find a place to make an appointment as they don't offer that service. This is false advertising as its listed on their website.

« A very nice hotel with an AMAZING location »

The front desk staff were incredibly friendly as soon as we entered the lobby area. Getting to our room took an unexpected direction, when we had to take the elevator to the second floor to reach our room on the first floor. The hotel seems to have been built on the side of a hill. The result is that there is a gentle slope the length of the hotel as you walk down toward your room. The downside is that children do seem to love running and leaping down the slope as well. It took some getting used to hearing boom boom boom BOOM when they reached bottom. The hotel (or the parents, I don't honestly know which) shut it down early each evening so there wasn't any impact at all to our stay. The room was spacious and the view was absolutely lovely. Everything was immaculate. Each day that we were staying there, we encountered the cleaning staff hard at work whether morning or night. Everyone seemed to really take pride in their work. The hotel is very child and pet friendly. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. But, I would definitely request staying on the third floor.

We had a very nice experience at this hotel. The rooms are very clean and the staff is super friendly. The pool and hot tub are easy to get to and very clean and attractive. You couldn't get any closer to the ocean! Our view from the room was so relaxing and beautiful. Free parking and parking is easy to get to also.

    « Great Location »

View, location and room quality was great. Would recommend this hotel. The cove is an area for surfers (more advanced). You have shops and restaurants within walking distance along with a restaurant in this hotel. There are awesome walking paths.

« The staff was fantastic »

Every person on the staff from the front desk to the people cleaning were really helpful and friendly. Without asking, the front desk upgraded us to a beautiful sea view room (do keep in mind it's the off-season it was sparsely occupied). The restaurant had a nice selection of entrées for dinner but maybe a little overpriced. The included breakfast in the morning was OK. The location and view were really fantastic; easy to get around town.

« Bed covers and sheets had hairs and stains. checked inpersonel were very polite and friendly, »

Dont expect nothing fancy for breakfast other than and coffee and SOME not so appetizing old looking fruit. The Morning clerk was rude condesending and argumentative, I would fire any disrespectfull employee on my business.

    « Ehh, average stay. »

We stayed on the 4th floor, partial view of the ocean. Hotel has no A/C, we had no idea and called the front desk and they brought up a fan. They were very apologetic but they've never had A/C and I guess we didn't do enough research. It was windy and chilly so most people leave their sliding glass door open with the screen closed at night. Bathroom and beds were clean - no complaints on cleanliness. Overall we got a deal and enjoyed our nights of sleep.

    « Beautiful area beach »

The price wasn't to bad for one night. The room was clean and had a partial view of the ocean. Not to far from stores. The weather was a bit overcast and chilly but still beautiful to see. The drive up Highway 1 is truly beautiful.

« Best Western Plus Lighthouse, a home away from home »

I've stayed at this BW for the past year, every month for about a week at a time. It's truly my home away from home. Irie typically greets me when I arrive, Angelique take of anything I need during the week, and Toby and Irene knows the importance of a smile in the mornings. This location is so much better than staying in the city and it's right on the beach. It takes about 30 mins to get into the office in downtown SF and in the evenings, I stroll while watching the sun go down over the water. In the evenings and nights, I keep the door open to hear the crashing waves. It has a few amenities, but truly what makes BW Plus Lighthouse is the staff. It's the most welcomed I feel on my business trips. Truly a home away from home. Thank you!

    « Always a pleasure »

This is one of our most favorite hotels at Pacifica. The staff is very friendly, the hotel sits right at the beach. Listening to the sound of the waves crashing is a great way to decompress. The Moonraker Restaurant has every seat facing the ocean. It is a wonderful way to sip wine and enjoy the view. Every time we come, it is one of our best times.

    4
« wonderful hotel with poor access to view »

we couldn't take advantage of the room given us that had a wonderful view of the ocean, surfers, etc., unless we stood up at all times. we are in our 80's and were looking forward to doing just that, but there were no chairs tall enough to see over the balcony's double railings. I understand security, but there must be some way this problem could be remedied, as you have such a great hotel and most likely your customers were there for the view along with comfort.

    « Not as advertised »

What you see on the web-site, is not what you get on check-in. Very disappointed. I booked an ocean-view room. My view was the roof of a deserted building. The hallways and rooms had an extremely musty smell. I will not stay there again.

    « A rainy day in Pacifica »

Our grandson lives in Pacifica and is having a birthday. we live out of town and rented a suite to host a small celebration. The room was nice and roomy and had a refrigerator which was handy for our purposes. The pool and jacuzzi were heated and from our room we could look down on kids and dads playing in the pool. The hotel is in a great location-right on the beach. Lots of great hiking trails near by. But it really needs an upgrade as far as basic upkeep. And the hallways were in dire need of vacuuming. There was two dirty drinking glasses on the ice machine the whole time we were there as well as two large empty plastic containers in the hallway? The sevices was efficient and no complaints there. It is a bit run down. The restaurant in the hotel was quite satisfying and convenient. Also the wi-if never worked.

« hotel wonderful, resturant room service bad »

view staff great. relaxing and a wow place to watch the surf and the surfers. location fantastic. room service sucked. the service in the restaurant and bar was great. There was not many choices of food. They did have a good happy hour and oyster special.

    « Rockaway Beach »

Great location next to the ocean in a nice relaxing area along the coast. The overall hotel building is only average in construction and upkeep but the room was very nice with a very comfortable bed and clean room. The fitness center is less than what might be considered the minimum set of equipment; the addition of a set dumb bell weights would complete this. Very pleasant and friendly staff.

    « Great location! »

Came here for a family vacation and just love the views, the hotel is right on the coast and Pacifica is just a beautiful place to bring the family. The hotel is just a short drive away from San Francisco would definitely book again on my next trip. Also ocean view rooms definitely worth the cost.

    « Best Staff! »

The staff at the Best Western Lighthouse in Pacifica is the best. Made us feel welcome. The room was nicely located and very comfortable. The parking was convenient and safe. I will return to this hotel. Hopefully Ms. Grunwald will still be there.

    « Loved it! »

We stayed 3 nights in an ocean view room. Had a great view and loved the waves crashing on the beach. Room was clean and bed was very comfy. Didn't try in house restaurant but the Breakers restaurant right next door had amazing breakfasts. Would return if ever in the area. Convenient to San Francisco and Oakland Airport and the lovely HWY 1. I wish I was still there!

    « Can't go wrong with a junior suite. »

The junior suite I had had a partial ocean view. I wasn't sure what that would mean but booked it anyway. The room was behind a lower building but you could still see the waves coming in and better yet, you could sleep with the patio door open (on 3rd floor) and listen to the ocean all night. It is a motel rather than a hotel, but with it's perfect location and cleanliness is still a great place to stay. Definitely recommend.

    2
« Good location, over priced! Rigid management! »

The good: right on the beach, easy access to beach. Nearby hiking trails. The Bad: it's just a motel !!! Don't expect too much. Room interior is a bit nicer than your average Motel6. The ugly: $200 per night without breakfast is way too overpriced. Their cancellation policy is too strict. I had to stay there because they wouldn't accept my request for cancellation 10 minutes after my booking in error. The manager was reading me a rule book on phone. It's a privately owned and managed property, they could have been gracious by allowing my request for cancellation, because I called them 10 minutes after booking. But they said I would lose entire $200. When I got there I found out why....the place is practically empty.

« Nice but not thought out building »

The hotel was nice, bit the big issue I had was with the building design and layout. There was the potential for much better ocena views from most of the except for the way the hotel was layede out. They can't do too much about it now, but who would put the rooms to the back of the property and the shorter lobby and restaurant in the front most rooms had a balcony appearance that was only six inches deep. You could open a sliding door for air but that was it. Also most rooms looked down on the roof of the lobby and restaurant. with a sideways view of the ocean. The view could have been so much better for so many rooms. The staff was nice. The corridors could have had some better ventilation though.

    « Great Location! »

Best Western PLUS in Pacifica is located in the heart of Rockaway Beach and features amazing views of the ocean. In addition, the hotel is home to the beautiful Moonraker restaurant and across the street from Nick's Restaurant.

« My stay at Best Western Plus Lighthouse Hotel »

The rooms were clean, and comfy. We were disappointing that their were no balconies to sit and watch the beautiful ocean. We were delighted with the restaurant, and we were able to sit in a perfect table to watch the waves at dinner..

    « Hotel Sucks »

This hotel is extremely worn down. Water damage everywhere and the staff is not friendly. They way over charge for their simple rooms with partial view ocean and great, the parking lot, really? Food from restaurant Moonraker and room service was lousy.

« Great room, friendly staff, terrific restaurant Super location »

Very friendly reception when we arrived room was nice with a very comfy bed. Lots of toiletries supplied. Perfect location!!! Went to dinner at the hotel restaurant Moonraker the hostess' and waiter were very friendly and the live entertainment was perfect. Went in for breakfast as well. All the food was delicious. Great hiking trail right outside the door. Twenty five minutes to downtown San Francisco 1.5 hours to Pebble Beach. LOVED this location can't wait to return

« Great Hotel with Ocean Views »

You will love this hotel and area! The beach area has great waves breaking and the nearby walking paths was an added bonus! Several small gifts stores are within walking distance and excellent restaurants (family run) abound in nearby town of Pacifica. Easy drive on coastal highway 1 provide excellent day trips to with San Francisco (North) or Monterey-Carmel (south)!

    5
    « Iffy Ocean View »

We paid more for a full ocean view but it wasn't quite full, partly because it was only on the second story and partly because it was at a weird angle to the ocean. That's fine, but it shouldn't be billed as a full ocean view. My gal complained about a musty smell in the room but I didn't notice it. Then again, my sense of smell ain't great. The Sunday Brunch was pricey but VERY good.

    3
    « Great Location »

Great Location, amazing views. I had a cove view room and it was wonderful to be able to hear the waves during my entire stay. The one negative was the sliding door and screen were filthy with bird poop.

    4
    « retirement party »

This was a quite and clean room just a little dark in the colors they picked it was great hearing the ocean. The staff at the front desk was great, very friendly.the location is good right on the beach. Could use a paint job being on the coast kinda makes it a little dark.

    5
« Hidden Gem with a Great Conference Facility »

The staff was great from registration to check-out. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The restaurant has great food and an incredible view. Watching the sun set over the ocean from the room's balcony and then listening to the waves breaking and rolling up onto the beach made for a great night's sleep. I already booked a return visit with my wife. We'd stayed here for a conference and everybody was quite happy with hotel and the conference facilities. We're hoping to have future events here as well. There is more than adequate parking even with the hotel being sold out.

    2
    « Overrated »

I don't recommend this hotel and think it's overrated. The location is great for the beach, but that's about it. I found trash under my bed. There was a bug crawling up the shower curtain. The sink was outside the bathroom and next to the bed. The room was not clean enough where I felt comfortable.

    « Wonderful wave watching »

We booked a cove view room thinking about the sound of the ocean. We were lucky to have a big wave weekend, which we took advantage of by pulling the couch in front of the window, pouring some wine and watching surfers until the sunset. We decided to dine at Moonraker, which was great. Every seat in the main dining room has a view of the waves, which are highlighted by spot lights. The seafood dishes were great and the service was perfect. Everything combined for a wonderful weekend.

    « Nice stop-over hotel »

We spent a night at the BW Lighthouse hotel on our California road trip. The hotel is right on the beach and has amazing ocean views. Our room was nice and clean and had a very comfortable bed and the wifi was fast. The staff were pleasant and helpful. There are some cute shops and restaurants nearby and nice walking trails along the bluffs.

    « Lighthouse Pacifica »

Excellent Hotel with a Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Gorgeous views from our room. Good restaurant. Highly recommended. 25 minutes to downtown San Francisco. Comfortable bed. only down side was no continental breakfast as in most Best Westerns.

    « Affordable in a great location !! »

We stayed here the night before a flight out of SFO (only a 15 minute drive away, with no traffic). The room charge was half of anyplace else comparable in the Bay Area. We had a wonderful ocean view room. The attached restaurant (Moonraker) is a definite plus. Nice location near a quaint shopping area.

    « Thank you! »

The Best Western Lighthouse Hotel in Pacifica is our favorite hotel. The Junior Suites have the most beautiful view, we have yet to find anywhere that compares. The property is awesome, the rooms are great and the beds are comfy. The sound of the ocean is so loud, you are so close to the ocean, you feel like you are on the water. Amazing! Shelley and Mike Wheeler-Folsom

    « Always a pleasure! »

Excellent accommodations, friendly staff, beautiful ocean view, situated on beautiful Rockaway Beach. We stay here every New Year's Eve as it is very convenient for us to attend our friend's annual NY's eve house party. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Moon Raker Restaurant is right next door and Dick's Restaurant is right across the street. Highly recommend this hotel for comfort and convenience.

    5
    « Very nice stay »

The hotel looks a bit worn down, which has also been complained about in some of the reviews. If you, however, see the bay from a distance you see that the waves rolling in create a constant spray of salty water. It would be almost impossible to keep everything in shape without constantly painting it. The bay offers spectacular vies and an ever-present soothing sound of waves. We would highly recommend booking a room that faces the Pacific Ocean. The highway is not far away on the other side of the building, which might cause unpleasant noise. We found the rooms to be ok, even if some renovation here and there could be done. The staff was very attentive. Parking is free and plenty of space is available. There are no safe boxes in the room. You can leave belongings with the front desk. We would recommend this as the room doors do not look too robust. Be sure to check of the small restaurant Breakers, which is just outside of the building.

    4
    « Spacious rooms »

Very large rooms, many with ocean views. Terrific location alongside the beach. Some restaurants nearby. Hotel is starting to show its age but still acceptable. Friendly staff. Check-in and check-out were a breeze. Pet friendly for smaller dogs. Would stay again.

    3
« Beautiful Nature, Ok accommodation. »

I think this hotel was the best option in the area. The staff were nice and attentive, the Moonraker has great views. However the rug in the room was stained and there was a hair from the last guests on the bed, so it could have been cleaner.

    5
    « Great as always »

Wonderful location, service, politeness of staff devotion to customer service, attentiveness, always eager to help and add to the overall hotel experience...I've stayed in hotels worldwide but when here truly feel at home.

    « Thank you! »

I would like to thank the incredible staff at this hotel. My brother visits every Thanksgiving and he has special needs. Everyone went out of there way to make sure he was taken care of. At times he would get frustrated and get impatient or confused and the staff made sure he got what he needed and contacted me if something felt too big for them to handle. I won't go anywhere else when he come to visit. The restaurant staff is included in that. He will spend hours in the restaurant and be really picky about his food and they kindly accommodate him to make his stay enjoyable. Cant beat that anywhere. Thank you!

    « Great Stay »

Once in a while we like to stay in Pacifica when we are in the San Francisco area. This time we didn't want to drive home after a funeral in San Francisco and booked a room pretty much at the last minute at this hotel. We had absolutely no complaints with our one-night stay. As platinum card members, we were upgraded to partial-view rooms, one for my husband and I, and one for his mother. The corner room we were given was massive, especially for this area, and would qualify as a suite in some hotels, with a small wet bar, sofa and chairs, in addition to the obligatory desk and armoire with flat screen and small refrigerator. Everything was clean and worked as it should. The greatest thing about this hotel is the proximity to the ocean. We left our windows open at night and were rewarded with the sound of crashing waves. We all slept very well. We had no problems connecting to wireless. We ate dinner in the restaurant and our meal was very good, the wait staff attentive but not intrusive, and the view is tremendous! All-in-all our stay was everything we wanted, pleasant with no problems.

    « Wonderful service! »

We had a wonderful experience at Best Western Lighthouse. Our first visit was so great that when our flight got cancelled, we choose to drive back to Pacifica just to stay here again. The staff made sure our visit was perfect and they treated us and our pets with so much kindness. Angelique was fantastic and went out of her way to make sure we were comfortable. We really felt at home the entire time we were there. Every single member of the staff was friendly and hospitable. The hotel is in a great location with amazing views- right on the beach. There are lots of nearby places to eat (two restaurants on the property) and plenty of things to see. If you have pets, there is also a dog trail right behind the hotel. Our room was clean and there was free wifi. We will definitely be staying here again!

« Great Location - Hotel Needs Updating »

This place has been around for a while. And while it's location is perfect - right on the beach, and near some really good restaurants - the hotel could use a remodel. On the plus side: Fantastic views of the ocean, hiking trail right out of the parking lot, pool and hot tub on premises, and you can walk to the Moonraker Restaurant (in hotel) or Nick's just across the street. On the minus side: No air conditioning, rooms are painted dull white, carpet is dated, TV's have limited channel selection.

    3
« Eh. Could have been better. »

I'm sure this was a nice hotel at one point. I wouldn't call it dirty at all but it had an old feel to it (the building had water damage on the ceilings, popcorn ceilings). It's pretty pricey for what it is. However, I would definitely give the staff 5 stars.

    4
    « Breathtaking Views »

I had a room with an ocean view, breathtaking! The staff were all very nice and the room was clean. I did not try the restaurant as it's menu was not to my liking and a little on the pricey side. The wifi connection was very weak and I kept getting a "connection unstable" on my tablet and laptop. I would stay here again as it is a bargain just for the view alone!

    4
    « Great stay »

I had booked a "ocean view room" and paid $40 extra for it. When I arrived at my room it definitely had a very nice ocean view but at an angle. See picture below. When I questioned I was explained that the "full view ocean" rooms are junior suites and are only booked directly through the hotel and not on the web site. This was a small disappointment. However, the room is adequate furnished, bed was comfortable. The room was spacious enough for 1-2 person, bathroom area was standard. The carpet was showing its age but not a problem. It would be helpful to have plugs by the bedside. I had to unplug the radio to plug my stuff in. The ocean is just in front of you and I enjoyed just walking down and getting to the beach, and all night the great sound of the ocean. I will be back again but with knowing what I know now. Walking distance to three restaurants.

    4
    « On The Beach »

The reason we stayed at this hotel was all for location. It literally sits right on the beach. It was wonderful to hear the waves breaking all night, so lulling for a good nights sleep. We kept our patio door open to capture the wonderful ocean breeze and smell. Nearly everything is in walking distance, restaurants, shops and nature trails to wear off those wonderful seafood plates and breakfasts you will indulge in. It was a great way for us to enjoy our 19th wedding anniversary!

« First Trip to Pacifica »

Love this hotel. Friendly staff, clean rooms, right on the beach. Pool and hot tub were excellent too. I will definitely stay here again. Quite location except for the sound of the waves crashing on the beach, right outside your patio door.

« My new favorite beach town place to stay »

We stayed here when we had to move our daughter into sfsu. University just 10 minutes away. The hotel was unexpected nice. The room had a wonderful view of the ocean. It wasn't that large of a room, but big enough to hold your normal hotel room requirements. It had a nice comfy chair in the room that you could turn to face the ocean. The balcony in the rooms are maybe 6inches so I wouldn't call a balcony. Overall get staff and get place away from the city.

    « Good but pricey »

This hotel ticks most of the points that a good hotel should have. The heating/cooling unit works fine, friendly staff, good beds, clean and hygienic bathrooms, no leakages etc. Only had 2 pain points : 1. The floor carpets were dirty. If you use flip-flops to walk around, shouldn't be an issue. I walk barefoot so it was for me. 2. No breakfast !! at the rental price they charge (most BW hotels have a nice and standard breakfast), i feel a free breakfast should be the norm.

    « Monterey's Best Western »

A delightful place to spend a few days. Don't miss the afternoon wine and cheese with your host Victor. Rooms are spacious and will appointed. Motel is located a short walk to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. A must stay place when you visit Monterey.

« Returning after our previous stay in 2012 »

The location of the hotel is absolutely recommendable, directly on the beach. Room location is somewhat puzzling how to reach your room. The same apply to get to the parking lot. Rooms were clean and well equipped, but expected better seaview as ordered. Happy hour is fully Ok and the dinner was excellent. Breakfast in general ok,but traveling for my vacations many years in the US,you can find much better

« Disappointing to say the least »

Great location, been going there for years on special occasions. The prices have risen to the point that we do not go as often the last couple of years. Going for 2 days 9/25-9/27, Busy the first day, got in late, next day we realized the room was not very clean. Reunion week end things planned, out the door we go, get back to the room to change and go to dinner. Key cards do not work, all the way down stairs and out to the front of the building to hear, did you have the cards by your phones? Oh it's our fault, separate phones and holsters and separate cards, When you screw up a little honesty would be appreciated. Close to $ 300.00 a night with taxes tourist fees etc, very disappointing to say the least. The OCEANO over looking Princeton Harbor, very nice, good restaurant about same money, just 20 min further down the road, sad to loose an old friend, good by Light House hotel.

    4
« Close, but no cigar »

This is the only BW to which I have been that has no air conditioning. Admittedly, Pacifica is generally cooler than most places, but it does get warm and humid. Also, the only one so far without a Continental Breakfast. However, that led me to the Breakers next door that is absolutely the best selection and quality of meals. Other than these items, it was a very good experience...just no cigar.

« A relaxing week away from thexoty »

The hotel is located by the ocean and the room was nice. I slept so comfortably and soundly each day that I was here. The only thing I hated was the parking area. The floor was slick from the oil left behind cars parked. It was damp from the ocean spray and the night it sprinkled. I almost slipped walking to and from my hotel and to my car.

    5
« Fantastic hotel outside San Francisco »

Stayed here for our 20th anniversary. We were given an ocean front room with fabulous view. The sound of the surf was great to hear during the night. The staff had apparently told the restaurant that it was our anniversary because we were given a special desert with our dinner. If you are looking for a great hotel to avoid SF prices, I'd recommend this place.

    5
    « Relaxing Stay »

Wonderful hotel with a fantastic beach location. The Junior Suite gave us plenty of stretch out room. The views from our windows were hard to beat. The Moonraker Restaurant served a refreshing non-alcoholic drink that was very good. Pineapple, lime, and cucumber, what a good combo.

    3
    « Missing the "plus" »

Stayed for two nights. This hotel had the best pillows of all the 15 something hotels I slept at during this "road trip" in the US. The hotel building is not very accessible - depending where you get your room you might have to take two different elevators and a walk between them. Not fun when you're carrying lots of luggage. I wouldn't say that this hotel is more "plus" than other regular Best Westerns, or at least I didn't discover anything extra. Of cause its nicely located just by the ocean but a little bit "off". You couldn't get anything to eat after 9 pm unless you'd drive to other locations.

    5
« Best Western PLUS Lighthouse Hotel, Pacifica »

Very clean and well kept hotel next to the Pacific ocean, most rooms have views of the ocean. Bathrooms have extra counter space and very well decorated. Desk staff are extremely helpful. We would stay at this hotel again.

    « Beachy gem! »

We reserved the least expensive room with King bed, and specified that our only requirements besides the bed size were that the room be quiet. We were given a room that, while it didn't face the ocean, had a wonderful ocean view from the bed (which was extremely comfy, by the way)! And we could hear the waves crashing when the sliding doors were open. The room far exceeded our expectations, and there were wonderful restaurants across from and next door to the hotel (we didn't try the hotel restaurant; it seemed pretty fancy and we were dressed very casually). We'd DEFINITELY choose this hotel again.

    5
« Right on the Beach! »

If you want to go to sleep at night and hear the waves crashing right outside your sliding glass door.....Then this is the hotel for you! Can't wait to go back, and I'm bringing friends next time. Perfect place to stay and explore the coast and San Francisco as well.

    « Worth The View »

The hotel property sits on the beach along a cove. The rocks along the edge of the surf make for an easy climb to a great view. We watched surfers, whale, fish, and birds jumping in/out of the ocean. The sunset was great. The restaurant was clean, updated, provided great service, and the food was decent. Drinks were reasonably priced but the appetizers were just ok. Simple appetizers; coconut shrimp and calamari nothing to rave about. Breakfast was better; duck bacon, organic eggs, hollandaise sauce was nice. The room was clean, bed was comfortable, but don't get a room along the north end of the property because there's a public parking lot there. When we opened the room door to listen to the surf, we got a chance to listen to some guys cellphone conversation too. We should've asked for a room change but since we were only there for one night, we sucked it up and decided that the beach, rocks, and sunset cancelled-out everything else. Overall there were no inconveniences during our stay and I would recommend this hotel for anyone wanting to enjoy a soothing day at the California coast.

    5
« Great place on the Beach »

We had a great stay here, view of the ocean, could see dolphins playing, has hiking trail up for even greater views; bed was great, clean rooms, staff was very friendly and accommodating; the food in the restaurant Moonrakers was absolutely delicious; there for 2 days and never got in the car; everything was right there; next to quaint shopping, Breakers breakfast next door was delicious; best kept secret south of San Francisco!

« Best Western Lighthouse Hotel, Pacifica »

    « Needs work »

Needs an upgrade for the prices Charged over all and great location and a bit difficult to navigate, creaky floors noisy and slow lift. A comfy bed but wafer thin walls. In general this could be nice, most hotels are way over priced veresus quality, you only get what yo pay for but 300 USD not worth it, even for the view

    1
    « Didn't care about overcharges »

They charged me 3 times for our stay and when we brought the issue to their attention, all they could say is must have been a glitch, nothing we can do about it. Horrible customer service. We have been to this hotel several times. We will never be back.
