    « Old but good »

Almost all of the properties in this area are somewhat old. A lot of them are not in good shape. I was pleased to see that my king ocean view room looked to be very recently remodeled. It was large in size. There was a bar area with a sink and dish washing items...not sure why since there were no dishes provided. A small fridge worked well and situated well away from the bed so as to not disturb sleep. No microwave in room, which places like this usually have. The room was on the 6th floor near the top, but I could still hear cars going back and forth due to little sound insulation in the room. TV signal was good. A/C and heat worked well. King bed was clean and comfortable. Bathroom was clean and in good working order. The breakfast was really good. It was more than the usual continental type and had hot items such as scrambled eggs and some sort of meat each time. Cook your own waffles. Some cereal present as well as yogurt, and juices. Overall, a nice place.

    « Inconspicuous Jewel »

Do not judge this location by it's exterior. The rooms appear to have been remodeled very recently and are in excellent shape. We noticed a few issues that appear to be the result of Hurricane Matthew, but it did not affect our stay.

« Great hotel right on the beach! »

We booked the hotel through Hotels.com. and describtion of the room didn't quite match ( no safe in the room, no jetted bathtub). But nevertheless we loved the hotel! The location and the views are breathtaking! We choosed the oceanfront room, lived on the fifth floor. The hotel personnel are the best- especially on the reception desk and in the breakfast room. We just wanted to have quite and romantic getaway on the beach- and we got it! Definitely we'll be back!

« Okay but could be better »

"Heated pool" is not heated. Our room door was in the middle of getting painted when it was assigned to us. Found quite a few hairs in room. Room was spacious and we loved the balcony and being right on the beach.

« DO NOT STAY HERE! ZERO STARS »

This hotel is a disaster after a Hurricane Matthew! "Newly renovated rooms" = sliding door yo balcony that does remains open 6 inches, bathroom window hung backwards so it does not close! This is unsafe & allows mold to infest these two rooms? STAY FAR AWAY.

    « Vacation »

This is an older hotel but the ocean views are spectacular. I would definitely stay here again!! The service desks and hotel personnel were great. Our visit was just after hurricane Matthew came through and they were working to get the place back in shape but did not interfere with our stay at all. Great place

    « Great renovations! »

I've rated this hotel countless times because we stay here so often. I don't want to repeat myself so I'll only say this......it's great to see that all the furniture & carpets are being replaced. Who ever is managing this hotel is doing a great job. We were there during the renovation and thought it was going to be a nightmare but it turns out we hardly noticed work being done. The 1st 4 floors were closed so we were on the 6th floor which was fine. We also noticed that when checking in, you're asked to initial a form stating that you won't smoke on the balconies which we were very pleased about since this is a non smoking hotel. However, we did have several people around us smoking on their balconies. It will probably take a while to implement this change but hopefully guests will be more respectful and follow the rules.

    « Florida Trip »

Staff was friendly and helpful, rooms clean great location on beach front and free parking. Spend 4 days before moving to our Resort. Plenty of restaurants in area to chose from. Pool was being attended to due to storm damage. Would stay there again.

« Just renovated again. Above average and great rate »

I'm a retired senior life insurance company trade association officer serving CEO's and senior officers with meeting/convention responsibilities booking 5-star resorts and hotels for 17 years. I just stayed again here at the BW Del Sol for the 5th or 6th time. Half of the rooms are just renovated and rest to be finished within next 2 weeks - 2 queen mattresses, carpet, furniture, paint, 40 in. TV. Bath looks great - fresh and clean, and the kitchenette, a really nice feature. All of it as compared to most Ormond and Daytona Beach motels with just double beds and no kitchen. Pool is nice and separate sitting areas with umbrella tables, or under a covered shady patio area, and fire pit. Also has a nice hot and cold breakfast in an attractive large private room, not stuffed into a cramped area next to the front desk like some. Staff is friendly and helpful as usual - Patty at the front desk, breakfast lady who will even get you something at the last minute if you come in at the 10 am closing, the maid, and even the maintenance man I met in the hallway. Really can't ask for more, especially at a budget friendly 7 story hotel. Lobby is adequate with sofas and chairs, and a computer desk w/printer. Who really needs a large ornate lobby with pretty much the same type sleeping room, no kitchen, at $200 or more. I personally don't unless when on the expense account. I've stayed at many 5-star resorts and hotels; not on my nickle. This BW Del Sol meets my needs. I've seen a roach on the wall or floor at 2 5-star resorts in my 17 years of meeting planning, so they can be anywhere, especially in FL, but in 5 or more stays, and used by a number of friends for vacations and family reunions I've recommended to, I and they have not seen any or bed bugs either. I've always had a very good experience. Rooms are ocean front or ocean view. For ocean view I recommend close to the ocean and a room on the 6 or 7th floor as there's a 3 story motel next door. Tell them L. Barnes sent you. I don't think you'll be disappointed if looking for a really nice, non-exorbitant room rate. Well, Bike Week is different, but then all the other rinkie dinks are way high and not as nice, and not $400 like for the Hyatt, Hilton, or Ocean Walk. But I don't sleep in the large, nice lobbies. I now live in FL. Seven friends from Louisville just stayed there with me, and thanked me for recommending it. Two are going back for four nights before returning home. That's good for me as after staying with me for six nights and being with them for a week on a cruise - my Mother used to say, "Company after three days starts to smell like dead fish." LOL. Enjoy.if you go. I'll go back.

« Nice inexpensive place to stay »

Booked because of a discounted room and wasn't disappointed. It was clean and the beds were comfortable. It was a couple of weeks after the hurricane and the pool was still full of sand and there was debris still not picked up. My only real complaint is the lack of privacy on the balconies. It would be awkward at best, but we had a smoker on both sides of us that didn't seem to care that this is a 100% smoke free hotel including the balcony. Definitely the least expensive ocean front room I've ever had. Overall a nice place to stay for the price.

« Three days at Ormand beach »

We have stayed here before and were not disappointed. It is right on the beach, with a beach side pool. A hot tub would be a nice addition. We had an ocean front room and that was important to us as my wife is handicapped.

    4
    « Florida Experience »

The hotel was in good shape after hurricane Matthew...everything was great. Location was perfect in Ormand Beach Florida with a great beach access. Loved the outdoor fireplace near the pool. Staff was great and we enjoyed our stay.

    4
    « Birthday get away »

Staff was friendly, room was clean, price was very reasonable. My only complaint was that the pool was closed. A hurricane had come through the week before and needed only to be cleaned. It didn't appear to have any damage, only sand and debris in the water. After a week, I thought they should have had this cleaned and reopened.

    4
    « Biketoberfest stay »

This was our 2nd time staying at this BW and we will be returning. We had reservations at another hotel however that hotel was closed due to the hurricane. We did not experience the things others did ? roaches, furniture being nasty, carpet wet, etc. We had a pleasant stay, the staff was excellent, the atmosphere was very motorcycle friendly and super accommodating. Unfortunate others did not have the experience we had, no issues at all, thanks for a great stay during Biketoberfest and we look forward to returning!

    1
    « Pleasure »

This hotel should have never been open after hurricane Mathew it was totally not ready electric problems the furniture was nasty the carpet still wet no pool just to name a few oh no discount though makes me wander if I will ever stay at a best western again!

    1
    « Roach Motel »

First room had roaches so I was moved to another room. Guess what? More roaches. I was there for a wedding and we received a group rate. Therefore, the manager refunded $35 (you read right, for a two night stay) since we didn't pay much for the room, he felt I wasn't entitled to more of a refund.

    3
« Okay for the price. »

If you want to be right on the beach for a good price this place is okay. The hotel is old. I was in a remodeled room. New mattress and carpet. But the overall condition is old and rundown. The staff was nice and the breakfast was typical hotel food.

    4
    « Good for free! »

We stayed here for free on a time share presentation. It was clean & comfortable, just a little out dated. The staff was very nice. They are in the middle of doing a much needed renovation, I'm sure it will make this a 5 after completion! The pool was very nice & clean. We were unaware that you cannot have alcohol on the beach here which is a big bummer!

    4
« Right on the Beach »

This is a nice place right on the beach. Our room's balcony faces the motel next store but is on an angle so we have a partial ocean view. The pool and patio area are very nice and are right on the sand with direct beach access. There is an underground parking garage with an elevator. There are plenty of restaurants and stores within walking distance. Hot continental breakfast is included. We have a refrigerator but no microwave in our room. One odd thing we noticed is that the door to our room opens out into the hallway, not in to the room. When we leave the room we find ourselves opening the door very slowly so as to not hit anyone who may be walking past our room at that moment! Plus the window over the tub in the bathroom opens up right onto the hallway, too. This place is old and they have remodeling going on but I think it is still a good value for your money.

    4
    « Good quality/price! »

Exactly what I expect from a BW. Comfortable, clean, well located with all necessary amenities but no big luxury. What made the stay a little bit more unpleasant was those travellers that think when, they are in the pool area, that everybody will enjoy the music that they are listening to or that because they are a group of people it is OK to be Noisy. Yes vacation time is to have fun, but what about respecting people who take a vacation because they want peace and quiet? If the hotel could monitor this situation a bit more, it would be perfect but knowing human beings, you have to get used to all kinds of people, especially when you travel, right?

    « WoW what a place »

When making the reservation we wanted a place directly on the beach near a friends Time share. We found that this hotel was right next store and so we booked. The place is amazing. The staff is top notch, the rooms are large and well appointed. The view from the oceanfront balconies is breath taking. The amenities are many and in working order. The pool is large and right on the ocean. The breakfast is plentiful and with high end food. There is underground parking if you desire, and the available computer station is located in the lobby so as to be available all the time. I would and shall return to this hotel.

    « Great value! »

This was my first stay at this hotel and everyone in my family enjoyed the experience. We were in the oceanfront room - the room was spacious and clean with kitchenette for extra convenience. Pool was clean and never crowded. Full hot breakfast every day was great even though by the end of 5th day got a bit repetitive. Overall it was a great experience and fantastic value for the money.

    3
    « General »

After fourteen days on the road traveling by motorcycle we were ready for a couple days of relaxing. We decided to stay at this facility to do just that. In general the room was comfortable and clean. The staff is excellent and very helpful. The beds are very comfortable and our room had a small kitchenette supplied with stove, refrigerator and cooking and eating utensils. This facility is not the most modern on the coast, offers a lot at a very reasonable price. Also there is an authentic German restaurant directly across the street that has fantastic food. I will stay there again.

    4
    « Nice Place »

We like this hotel and this was our second stay. It was definitely cleaner this year. The pool is large and was kept clean. The breakfast each morning is very good with lots of choices. They need to make improvements as their are constant smokers that sit on the balconies and chain smoke. The balconies are very close to one another and their is no privacy. We had many smokers all around us even though rooms and balconies where supposed to be no smoking. The Front Desk staff is not doing there job as they do not tell customers at check in that their is no Smoking on the balconies. Also their is nothing on the balcony or room telling people their is no smoking on balconies.

    « Nice getaway »

As always great The staff as always is excellent We can not complain at all. This hotel is located with in walking distance to where we like to eat Breakfast at, and some light shopping. We come here 3-4 times a year for a get away

« Great Room for the price! »

We decided to come back to Ormond Beach. We stayed at the Best Western Castillo Del Sol. Best decision ever... Only $70 per night. Ocean front Room with private balcony , Kitchenette (was not expecting that) full size refrigerator, sink, range, microwave, dinette table. Wonderful if you want to stay in the room and enjoy snacks overlooking the beautiful beach. The bedroom is really big with extra desk and luggage table. The hotel offers free breakfast.... Nice large, new and clean restaurant area for the hot buffet(please see pictures). Nice lobby and underground free parking. We will definitely come back to this hotel. Excellent service for. A low , low room price .

    « Nice hotel »

Desk people couldnt be friendlier, no issues even told us to go to the pool and use the facilties because we were there before check in, clean room recently updated,, breakfast was good, coffee all day, kitchen has everything you would need to cook, we didnt, lol maid service great, ice cream truck pulls right up on the beach in the afternoon

    5
« Clean and spacious room for great price »

We stayed for our anniversary. The room was clean, spacious and the king bed was super comfortable. The balcony was great for watching sunrise and people watching. We enjoyed an early morning swim and the waves rolling in. The breakfast was very good also. We will be back again

    5
    « Nice and comfortable »

I when to the beach to relax. This hotel was what the doctor ordered. I had a beautiful Oceanview room , I could sit on my bed and see the beach ocean and the most beautiful sunrise, sunsets and full moon. The staff was incredible, very hospitable , knowledgeable about area and just all-round great staff. I would definitely go back.

    5
    « Summer Break »

Excellent location in Ormond Beach. Love the ocean view from my room. Convenience to other restaurants of various venues. Staff very courteous & friendly. Clean comfortable room. Easy to drive to other shopping. Several stores open to Midnight or 24 hour access.

    « Beautiful OceanFront View »

We were on level 5 in an oceanfront room. The view was spectacular. The room was clean. Staff members were joking around with each other at checkin which could be hit-or-miss with some people. It didn't bother me too badly, but did entail a longer check-in process. Checkout was quick and easy.

    5
    « awesome all around »

When I arrived at 10am, they arranged to let me check in early. My room was a side view of the ocean and I wanted oceanfront, they made it happen. It was a quiet, very clean and modern room with very comfortable beds and awesome views.

    5
« Great front counter service! »

The Best Wesern gives more for the money than any other oceanside hotel/resort I have found. Full free breakfast in the morning with alot of seating. Balconies and patios off each room.A good sized pool and easy access to the ocean. Also, don't forget to join their free rewards program! They are located about 15 min. from the Boardwalk.

    5
    « Feeling at home »

Awesome service , separates BW from others in the industry .Misty was friendly and engaging . She treated us like family , even cheering on my son ( new haircut ). Room was excellent and the view was spectacular .

    5
    « Family Vacation »

Great place for a family vacation lots of enjoyment by all. The rooms are very confortable, the beds are very clean and confortable so are the pillows. Clean towels with no stains and a wonderful complementry breakfast wish is very good.

    5
    « Family Friendly »

While it's an older property, everyone here goes out of their way to make it a pleasant stay. The breakfast room is roomy and offers a good variety of food items, especially at the price. Beds were comfortable, bathroom facilities worked, close proximity to groceries and eateries. A quieter stretch of beach than closer to the Boardwalk.

    1
    « Look someplace else »

We came to Ormond Beach to visit family and our new grandchild. We got a suite so we would have space to entertain but the room was so awful I was embarrassed when family came to visit. There were roaches, the couch was broken, the room was dark and had very little lighting that worked. The bed was lumpy and the pillows on a king size bed were barely large enough to fit your head. I really wish we had just turned around and left. My advise is that you look elsewhere for a room!!!

    2
    « Disappointed Mom!! »

This was the first time in a long time that my husband and I both had a few days off together and we had hoped to spend those resting and enjoying some time in this wonderful city, Ormand Beach. The area was wonderful and the hotel was in a very nice location with a beautiful beach access and pool. Unfortunately, the room was quite dirty with sand and candy wrappers left in the room from the previous guests, our refrigerator broke the first night, and the beds were less then comfortable. The hot part of the breakfast was not very tasty but they did have muffins and cereal available. Luckily it was right across the street from an IHOP and was located close to some nice businesses. Location is great but rooms were dirty and breakfast was not good at all.

    4
« Basic, clean, affordable stay at great location »

This hotel has a few years on it but you can tell it's been refurbished and updated to some extent trying to stay competitive on this strip of Ormond Beach. The location is excellent, less than a mile from Granada Blvd (main entry to Ormond Beach over the Halifax river). My family stayed there for 5 nights and received clean towels etc every day without having to call. We never saw one bug all week in our room (3rd floor) which is always a concern for many people. Swimming pool very good and clean. Decent breakfast every morning. Parking is tight but they have an underground deck also. Not perfect by any means but adequate, clean, and affordable.

    3
    « Hotel revier »

Well I had a good time with my family on the beach, but this hotel is not well maintenance. Also the elevators are too small and don't have a/c. The jacuzzi on the suite I booked, was with yellow spots so I didn't want to use it. And many other things.... I paid 240 for the one bedroom suite and it didn't worth.

  • 3
« Nice Location, Poor Upkeep »

The hotel is on the beach, beautiful beach there. The building is okay on the outside and near restaurants, etc. The interior of our room was disappointing. The carpet and furnishings were worn and dirty, and the "blackout drapes" were cut off at knee level on one side!! With a two foot gap, the sun blazed through. Why not replace the drapes, seriously?

    4
« BW Castillo de Sol »

Right on the beach and close to everything. Friendly staff and morning breakfast made the stay much easier. Parking is tight but seemed adequate. The room was clean and everything worked well. The beach is clean and so is the pool

    4
« Made me feel at home.... »

Patty and the night auditor Torell where both very pleasant and professional. They both truly are what 'Best Western' represents ! As an employee of this company myself, I look for these quality's while in my travels.. 'Thank you' to both of you for making my trip all the more memorable ! Until we meet again !

    1
« Everything was either broken or dirty »

Excited to stay 3 nights with my family at this beach front hotel. Good things it is beach front and the underground parking was nice. bad things, room was only cleaned once, called several times, had to wash our towels and linens and dump our trash. All ice machines and every floor were broke, pool smelled like it had not been cleaned all year, freed breakfast was absolutely disgusting, etc, etc, etc,

    4
    « Peaceful and Restful »

We enjoyed our stay in Ormond Beach. We had a very pleasant time at our hotel. The beaches are just 5 miles north of Daytona, but much less crowded, This was our first stay in Ormond, we will do it again. We were there for July 4 and the city did an amazing job in their fireworks display.

    5
« Nice location , helpful and friendly staff »

We stayed here for four nights. The price was great the hotel is clean, great location, free wifi, and breakfast. The hotel is well kept and maintained . We had an ocean view room with a balcony . Need vending machines must purchase from from lobby. Will come again!

    4
    « Family vacation »

Stayed for 3 nights. Had a great stay here! Room was nice and clean! The ocean view is beautiful! Only complaint is the elevators are hot and muggy inside and the pool needs to be cleaned! Great place for the price!! I would definitely stay here again!

    4
    « Great for a Family Visit »

I treated my mom and grandmom and nephews to a July 4th Day at the beach w/ my rewards points and the fireworks were amazing the water in the pool was great!! I would have prefered to pay with a different method however no one accommodated me is my only negative review.

    5
    « 2nd time visitor »

Another great stay over July 4th holiday. Staff was very helpful and accommodating. We enjoyed the ocean front view from our 6th story balcony. Large frig and freezer made keeping drInks and snacks cool easy, plus ice maker on every floor.

« Traditional Beach concrete hotel with 2016 commodities »

Looking for a nice, quality beach side hotel, this is a good one! The Best Western brand will ensure your stay is up to your satisfaction. The parking lot is in the center lot of the hotel which was helpful as we loaded / unloaded our belongings, making access to the hotel lobby easy. The pool is stupendous and huge and accommodates all levels of swimming experiences. The beach is a short 20 yards from poolside which is nice so you can leave your beach bags only within site distance of the pool as you visit the ocean without having to relocate everything over and over. Staff was great and gave us a few directions. Excellent antique / retro shops around Holly Hill (Our Old Stuff Antiques is a must visit for collectors of vintage mid-century furniture and housewares). Only disappointment was the Wi-Fi connection as none of our devices ever made a connection with the hotel's internet network.

« Annual Vacation here in Daytona »

we have stayed here 7 years & plan on coming back each year. Outside of the need for a little remodeling we always enjoy our stay here with the staff. Right on ocean, close to restaurants & SHOPPING & AIRPORT

    4
    « Nice location »

Good breakfast. Nice view. Comfortable beds. TOO expensive. Normally this hotel is priced very well, but over the 4th of July weekend the rates were 4 time the normal rate. That seems a little excessive to me.

    5
    « Quickie visit »

Great, clean hotel, located in beach. Priced high but it's because of the Daytona race this weekend. Was able to check in at 930 am and spend two full days at pool and beach. Free breakfast in morning. Excellent room overlooking partial beach front.

    5
    « Awesome views »

This hotel was by far the best price and room for the money. We stayed in a 2 queen bed room, ocean front. I know the ocean fronts are a little extra, but completely worth it. We sat on the balcony and watched the ocean and storms. It was amazing. The staff is completely helpful and we will definitely return to this hotel. The 1 downside is that the breakfast was less than mediocre, but there's an IHOP right across the street. Here's a view from our room on the 4th floor.

    5
« Great place to stay »

As always it is a wonderful place to stay. Its not noisy, or too crowded. Nice view of the beach. We don't use the swimming pool. Its in a nice area by where we like to shop at. We love eating at the IHOP and it is just a hop, skip and a jump from the motel

« Long time, much needed vacation to the beach. »

Recently visited and found it to be a very pleasant place to stay. Rooms, dining room, pool and decks all very clean. Staff very pleasant and convenient to both the ocean and dining and entertainment. Looking forward to going back soon....... Loved it!

    5
« Stunning views and comfortable room »

Staff were very responsive and friendly and the ocean-view decks were fabulous! Stayed 2 nights and we were so comfortable. The pools was nice and empty in the morning and long enough for my lap swim workout. We would definatly stay there again if we were in the area.

    5
« Great Beach, Very Clean, Comfortable »

We had a double queen with the mini frig room. It was well cleaned and smelled fresh unlike other beach hotels. No stains or bugs. Our room had a side balcony and I loved it! You could see the beach and the ocean. Bathroom and shower are small, but the room overall was a great size. The parking is limited, we had to park in the parking garage in a space that wasn't a space. And later noticed another car parked behind us because there weren't any spots available. Wonderful breakfast! Great experience!

    4
« Nice quiet hotel on the beach »

Very nice visit at the Best Western Castillo Del Sol. Stayed 3 nights. Check-in was efficient and our room was ready 3 1/2 hours before check-in, so we could hit the beach right away. Hotel is clean, nice clean pool near beach. Beach was easy to access and not too crowded. A nice distance from the bustle of Daytona. Definitely recommend the oceanfront rooms. Breakfast was good, but crowded after 9 am.

    5
« Great place to stay and a KILLER BREAKFAST!!!! »

Had an oceanfront room. Quite pleasant. Kitchen with full size frige and 2-burner stove. More than sufficient. Small dining table w/chairs and a reading table. Fulll balcony overlooking pool and ocean. great view. Room was cleaned and new towels every day. But the best thing was the breakfast: delicious waffles, cereal, scrambled eggs, bacon, ha or sausage, sweet rolls, bagels, toast build you own oatmeal station, juices, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and water...as much as you wanted from 6 am to 10 am and the best part - FREE!!! My compliments to Best Western!!!The front desk staff could not have been nicer....free use of computer and printer in lobby. If I ever go back to Ormond beach, that is where I will stay!

« Right on the beach! »

Like pretty much every other Best Western we've ever stayed at, the Castillo Del Sol had a very good hot breakfast buffet each morning and comfortable beds. The biggest perk was the location - beachfront! Very nice. The hotel itself could probably use a bit of updating here and there, but everything seemed to be in working order and relatively clean considering all the people coming in and out from the beach all day long. DEFINITELY a place I would love to stay at again

    2
    « bugs in bed »

bugs in bed, had to move rooms at 11:30pm with 2 children, clerks were very nice and attentive. Room service, not so good! Had to go to lobby every day for items they did not leave, on last day, pool was shut and gate to beach was being repaired for at least 4 hours, had to go out to sidewalk and find access to beach to cool off!!!

    5
« Best Ormond Beach location »

Best Western Castillo Del Sol is in a great location, just yards from the beach and restaurants. If you decide to eat in the snack food at the bar is great, the restaurant was closed on the night that we were there and Nico the barman was great to deal with. Best of all was the breakfast, great set up with quality presentation and food.

    « SAFE...COMFORTABLE...AFFORDABLE !!! »

In this day and age of "random acts of violence" and having recently returned from a European trip...my first priority is safety for my family. This environment is fantastic for all three, and right on the BEAUTIFUL BEACH. Reception team warm and wecoming at front desk and breakfast super! Couldn't ask for more...except maybe more vacation time here.

« Awesome Hotel, Awesome Staff »

The staff at this hotel are everything you'd hope for when being away from home. They go above and beyond and are genuine caring people to make your stay very pleasant. The hotel was clean, accommodating, and offered everything you would need. It's location was close to restaurants and stores and easily accessible with ample parking above and below street level.

    « A little Pricey, but Nice »

Just a one night visit, I'm a frugal kinda shopper and for me $150 is quite pricey, BUT... The room was Very Clean & Large, Staff Friendly and Nice View of the Ocean. Hot Breakfast was GREAT... Got the family some hot scrambled eggs, Canadian bacon and Made some Fresh HOT Cinnamon and Blueberry Waffles (They were GREAT)!! The only issue, one of the two elevators was out of service and when you're on the 6th floor, takes a while to get anywhere...

    « I stayed here »

If you expect to eat breakfast in the hotel watch out for the attendant, she will run you over tell you to get out of the way. Also, make sure when you get the room that you get the room you want-oceanview is leaning over a deck and squinting to see the ocean, oceanfront actually sits on the beachfront. Beware...

    « 2016 National Drill Competition »

We traveled from Shreveport, Louisiana to compete in the 2016 National Drill Competition in Daytona, Florida. We stayed 4 days and 4 nights. Great service from the staff and in an awesome location. We had a room on the 7th floor and the view of the ocean was simply amazing.

    « Nice oceanfront! »

Stayed here as part of a timeshare promotion (different place). Had an ocean-facing room with an amazing view on 7th floor. Kitchenette, clean, friendly staff. The bath/toilet room a little small and if traveling with friends, no real privacy (open vanity area and that bathroom is small). The lounge chairs by pool aren't padded, but not a big deal since it's easy to see that they're clean. Nice fire pit. Easy access to beach. Pool towels had to be obtained at desk instead of by pool. (Not a major inconvenience). Overall...we liked our stay. Would stay here again for sure.

« Quick trip to Ormond beach »

We stayed at that hotel for a few days we had a great service from everyone. The front counter staff polite and professional. The cleaning team were amazing, professional and polite kudos to your team. We had a kitchenette we love that we had a great view of the water. It was clean, quiet and peaceful. The hotel is old but well maintained and good price.

    « bad experience »

I have stayed at this motel several times but over the past couple of years it has declined. Ocean front is more like Ocean view and Ocean view is more like Ocean peak. Rooms smelled some staff members where not friendly, no microwave in ocean view rooms or lobby. Just really fell down hill the last couple of years.

« Nice Hotel just old »

The room was nice just the furniture was old and needed updated. The view of the beach and ocean from our room was great. The pool is wonderful and I enjoyed it very much. We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We will be back to stay at this hotel again - would like to stay on the ocean side next time to watch the sun come up. Thanks for the upgrade when we arrived it was worth the wait.

« Great Value Right on the Beach »

For a quick gateway, the Best Western in Ormond Beach is quite a nice break. It isn't fancy, but it is right on the beach, and the location is convenient to both the A1A and the causeway to the mainland. It is close enough to Daytona and yet far away--family quiet beach is at the door. We have only been here a couple of days at a time--if you are staying longer, you might want more room than a hotel room. But for a long weekend at the beach, we have always been quite pleased.

« Probably should've gone with the other hotel..... »

This isn't a 3-star hotel. The room décor is extremely dark and dated and it was somewhat dirty. 1. Kenny at check-in didn't smile at all and couldn't get rid of me soon enough even though no one else was in line. Although most the other staff members were nice and accommodating. 2. We were given a parking pass yet there wasn't any parking and I had to park across the street. Why give parking passes and make me write down my license number if you're not going to monitor the parking and start towing cars? This was extremely annoying and inconvenient. 3. Our first morning, around 9:00a, a maid started arguing with a guest very close to our room (we were near the elevator) and even after the guest left and the argument was over, the one maid keep talking, very loudly, to the other maid about it for about 15 more minutes. Highly unprofessional and disturbing.

    « Great Stay! »

My family and I had a wonderful stay at the Castillo del Sol. It was clean, and the location was superb! Friendly staff, too! It looks like all rooms have a view of the ocean, and the pool is right next to the beach, so you can swim and enjoy the ocean at the same time. We enjoyed our stay very much.

    3
« Good for night over if you ok with "JUST OK" »

Just another median hotel that will offer to you the following: dirty surroundings such as hallways, elevator, breakfast room and lobby - no free coffee in the evening - no parking in late night and no solution - old hotel that was remodeled, pure craftsmanship - rooms' door are not really safe with a bad lock, - and many other issues. The room was acceptable and clean in limits. If you are looking for just OK and don't want to pay more than $90, this is your place.

« Not super family friendly »

The hotel was a great price and the rooms were clean. I was on the 6th floor at the side and the view wasn't much but I did get a sliver of ocean. The gentleman I checked in with wasn't helpful. I was balancing two toddlers and a lot of items and there was no offer to help. Had to give them the plates on my car and run outside with two small kids while holding up a line. The balcony is scary and I would not recommend it for small children, my daughter could easily slip through the balcony rails if I didn't constantly watch her. I played it safe and didn't go outside but same goes for the rails in front of the room. They had no extra pillows or no pack and plays available- not super family friendly if you have small kids. The facility was old but clean. One elevator was broken so it took a long time to call. All in all its a great price but I wouldn't go back with small kids

« Nice Place For a Good Value »

The hotel is comfortable and a good value. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The ocean view is great and the location puts you very close to all the Daytona attractions with out the crowds, We did see a cockroach and some bugs in our room that I reported to the management. It was not big deal and we only saw them once. Breakfast was a standard offering for a free buffet.

    « National Drill Competition »

Beach front location with an awesome view. We could tell it was an older hotel but it was well kept. 7th floor room made for a beautiful view of the beach and morning sunrise. There are plenty of quality restaurants in walking distance and gift shops to purchase souvenirs.

    « Great Girls Weekend »

My best friend and I were there recently for a long weekend. This was our second time at this hotel. We really noticed a difference in the staff. Every single staff member: front desk, housekeepers, maintenance, etc.; were all so pleasant and friendly- every single one spoke to each guest with a "good morning" or "good afternoon" - it was so welcoming! The room was clean, the bed was comfortable and the free breakfast and wifi was great! For a modestly priced hotel it can not be beat! Will definitely be back!

    « Spring get a way »

We always stay at this Best Western Hotel in the spring and in the fall. We noticed since last November when we stayed here that there have been a lot of improvements made. The staff is trying very hard to keep the beach front hotel in good shape which must be a daunting task. It looked spruced up from our last visit and it appeared that there was more maintenance people around the property. It's not a fancy hotel but it's clean and you can't beat the location. Love it here! The only recommendation I would like to make is that they install lighting on the deck near the pool. After the sun goes down it's dark out there and quite dangerous in my opinion. It takes a flashlight to find your way around.

    4
« Old but well kept »

This was an old but well kept hotel right on the beach. We had a full suite room and were comfortable. It was clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very accommodating. The best part was the balcony overlooking the beach and the ocean. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Good »

Hotel room was clean and beds were comfortable. The hotel was beach front and had a hose to wash sand off you as well. However, they were completely full and had not enough parking and their overflow parking was 2 blocks away from the hotel without a shuttle or bus to take you back to the hotel. Some of the staff was not very friendly. It was not the worse hotel i have ever stayed at but it was not the best either. If you want a decent hotel for cheap this is a good one.

« The absolute best motel and staff »

Prior to checking-in to this motel, I had a notion that it was going to be another typical run down motel. Wow!!! Was I ever wrong!!!! I was greeted initially by Misty. I showed her my confirmation and told her I hoped I was getting the full ocean view from my room when she informed me that I had chosen the wrong room. She quickly allowed me to change my room to the Ocean Front. The views were wonderful. We stayed on the 6th floor and had a kitchenette in our room. Everything was clean and the room had that clean smell too. Nothing was out of order. The next morning, I had some issues and notified the front desk. A few minutes later, Vinny showed up at our door and quickly resolved our problems. I tried to tip him but he wouldn't accept it. He said it was his job. Way to go Vinny! That shows character and is rare to find these days. I just wish all motels had a Vinny on their staff. Misty was the delight of our trip. She had these gleaming eyes and brilliant smile. She was always helpful and made our stay there all the more wonderful. The breakfast was great too. Eggs, Sausage, Waffles, Cereal, Fruit, Coffee, etc. The staff member that served breakfast was another great person to get to know. I didn't find out her name but should have. She was friendly and kept the breakfast hot and plentiful. Thanks to everyone at this motel. The staff here is one-of-a-kind and other motels need to model their staff after the staff here. I'll definitely return. And I hope others will come here too. Thanks everyone!

    « Value Family Location »

Visited with daughter and two grandchildren, ages 6 and 4. The location of the Best Western is an easy drive from Orlando International Airport. We stayed on the 7th floor with an ocean view room and had a wonderful view of the ocean. We actually kept the balcony door open in the evening and enjoyed the sounds and scents of the ocean. Hotel is older and nothing fancy, but clean and the staff knowledgeable and helpful.

« MISTY AND JORDAN - BEST HOSTS EVER...!!! »

This is your usual BW ? on steroids ? with 135 rooms, right on the sand and only a few miles drive down the boulevard to the chaos of Daytona Beach. Go to Daytona, take it all in until you're exhausted and then return to the tranquility of this well-run BW. The pool is enormous, with plenty of chaise lounges so close to the ocean you can hear the waves crash. The King Suite is awesome, featuring 2 balconies and a kitchen, along with whirlpool tub in a separate room. Bedroom has a door, too, so someone can sleep in while the others prowl the massive living room. Hosts Misty and Jordan keep the place humming with precision, as this BW is often sold out. Book early and get ready to enjoy!

Just needed a little get away by the beach to relax and regroup. This was the place to do it. We enjoyed the beach view from our room and balcony and walks on the beach. Several restaurants close by and even a Moose Lodge not far away (which is always a plus). I would most certainly recommend this hotel and will be back.

    « Beware Beware Beware »

We are staying here for a baseball tournament, as this was supposed to be one of the tournament hotels. This can be best described as a rundown motel which is understaffed, worn & dirty! Our room has torn carpet, a moldy shower & see the photo for the hole in the ceiling covered up with a styrofoam plate and towel as a patch??? We will be contacting corporate, this is a Huge disappointment! The lobby was full of angry customers who were not able to check in their rooms by the guaranteed 3pm check in time. The pictures online are very deceiving and this is not up to the levels of other best westerns that we have stayed at in the past. More photos coming.

« Beware of Spinnaker Offers »

My sister purchased a Spannaker vacation package for the Royal Floridan, but to our surprise upon arrival, we were sent to the Best Western. SNAP, they got us! Although we had an oceanfront room, the hotel visit was not up to standard in that (1) the room was never cleaned the 4 nights we were there; (2) the fridge stopped working on the second night of our stay and we had to throw away our food, with no apologies from the front desk; (3) there was a board under the mattress on one of the beds -- I guess to keep the bed from sagging; (4) the towels and wash clothes were thin, worn, and of a poor quality as were the pool towels; and (5) the bathroom was so small that you could not turn around in it and was very dated. With the room never being cleaned and the spoiled contents from the fridge along with our other trash left a stinch in the room. When we called the front desk about replenishing the towels and cleaning the room, they were very unconcerned. My sister would have to go to the front desk for towels each day (maybe the hotel staff were the ones on spring break). The breakfast that was included was doable, with the waffle maker and the "pieces" of bacon being the highlight (although I do not eat pork). The eggs served were not real eggs, but you could make yourself happy with coffee, yogurt or cereal. Thanks a lot, Spinnaker, for the bait and switch.

Enjoyed our visit at this Motel. There were 3 of us and we have no complaints. We tried to extend our stay one more night but the Motel was fully booked. « Spring Break week »

Overall, the hotel was everything that I expected. The breakfast was great with a wide selection and warm food. The room was perfect, with the kitchenette and the balcony. The housekeeping did a great job with cleaning the room every day during our 3 night stay. The issue that I had was with the check-in - had to wait over 30 minutes due to the computer system being down. Staff at front desk weren't very pleasant.

    « Spring Break 2016 »

Great place to stay for the price and location. Our room had a partial ocean view, we were on the north side of the building. It's an older hotel but we found it to be clean and comfortable. Hotels in this area for spring break are very expensive so unless you are going to spend upwards of $200 per night this type of hotel is very common. It is right along the highway and you do hear road noise but we expected that and it didn't keep us awake. Safe location, great breakfast with hot and cold items. Walk right onto the beach. Pool was not heated and was a little too cold for our liking, but we came for the beach so it wasn't important to us. Lots of places to eat within a 5 min drive. We would stay here again.

« good old fashioned hotel, great location »

use this hotel when visiting Ormond Beach, FL--good old fashioned hotel, great view, located on the Atlantic Ocean on AIA. perfect if also visiting Daytona Beach, lots of restaurants nearby, a Starbucks that opens before 6 am, IHOP across the street and other good restaurants nearby.

    « Spring break accommodations »

We stayed here for part of our Florida vacation. Having no idea what the property was like, we booked a king room "with a balcony". At check in, we discovered that it was in fact a king room, but with an adjoining room and an exceptionally loud couple in the next room. In addition, yes it had a balcony but our view was of the garbage bins below. This could have been a big problem for us however, the front desk staff were very accommodating, upgrading us to an ocean view with a balcony after our first night (spring break and the hotel was totally booked). The breakfast included with the price of the room left much to be desired, and the breakfast room was crowded and noisy so we didn't avail ourselves. The property is pretty run down, but our room was clean. While standing on our balcony, we were able to watch a rocket launch from Cape Canaveral on our last night there! Beware of Room 221!! :-(

    « Better than expected! »

From check-in to check-out, this hotel far exceeded my expectations. I booked through the Best Western website (lowest prices/larger selection). They were ready for us when we arrived just before 4pm (check-in starts at 3:30). After reading other reviews, I was a little worried about the quality of our room, but the room was perfect. Ocean front was definitely worth the extra $10/night. The view was fantastic. Lots of space to spread out. It was just my daughter and I but a family of 4 would be very comfortable. We did not use the kitchenette but there was a sink, refrigerator with freezer, 2 burner stove, microwave, and pots/pans and dishes. If you are traveling on a budget, there is plenty of room to cook a meal and sit down as a family at the table (4 chairs) to eat. There were a variety of restaurants within walking distance including an IHOP directly across the street. We chose to walk North along the beach to Granada where there were a variety of restaurants and shops. We stayed for 4 days and I never had to get in the car. All of our meals were just a 10 minute stroll along the water away. So relaxing. Helpful staff. We will definitely return.

    « Spring Break Visit »

We have stayed he before and it was great. First they say that they have kitchens but they are going to be removing what they have so there is nothing in them. The coffee maker is a one cup serving and they took all the pots, pans and utensils out and the full size refrigerator in our room was replace with a very small one. There was only three towels in the room so we got one from the front desk. Everyday we would hang them up and they take them and only leave three for a room with four. They never made the bed or vacuum the room the four days we were there. She just came in and replace the towels. Also the key card would lose the code and they would complain about having to recode it.

« Will not be coming back »

I ended up staying here for a timeshare presentation pkg I had bought. We arrived early and asked the front desk where do I go to register they sent me to one place then that place sent me to somewhere else.Did I mention I do not drive. All was within walking distance thank god. After all the headache i checked in with our front desk service was horrible they did not know anything about what was around there for food or how to get there, nor did they tell me anything about the hotel it self. I had to ask housekeeping about the laundry and other things about the hotel, call about ice, figure out how to get to the pool. All in all horrible customer service.our housekeeper was great she knew more than front desk coutos to her.The only good thing is our balcony overlooked the beach. The free breakfast was okay they had decent variety of things to choose from. Will not be staying here again.

Came for bike week. No trailer parking had to pay $20 a day off site. Rooms were a little run down. Good thing as in between Main st and bars on Us 1 . Pool had a handicap lift. Also had covered parking. My room was smaller then others and had no kitchen

    « Nice Stay! »

I think we booked one of the last rooms available, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It was bike week, which we didn't expect but was ok. Hotel was in good location. We had a partial view of the ocean -- but also overlooked parking. From the exterior, it looked a bit rough. But the room was nicely appointed. We had a fridge. Nice amenities - nice bathroom and vanity area. Beds were comfortable. We had chairs on patio, so we could sit out and see the shores; it wasn't the cleanest - but hey, you're on the beach -- there ARE seagulls and pigeons !! One odd thing: a tiny frosted window in the shower? Whaaaat? Why? Not sure - but assuming from early days, prior to upgrades and remodels. Service was great. Breakfast was very nice. Parking was a tiny bit challenging, but it that was largely due to bike week. My only complaint was the pool was NOT heated. It was so cold, and the seagulls were happier swimming than any human being. But the ocean is right there and made for lovely sunrises.

    « Bike week fib »

Have to say was very disappointed with this place. Booked it because was going for bike week and they have trailer parking a heated pool a kitchen in the room plus a bar and restaurant. ALL LIES. First no trailer parking for bike week. Have to go and find a place to park it and pay for it additionally. Heated pool they stopped fixing, kitchen in room but no pots or pans, house keeping told me they have been slowly removing it all over last six months. No bar or restaurant but they do feed you a so called breakfast every morning. That's why they want you to pay first, because if you knew it beforehand you probablyfind a place that tells the truth.

« Not What She Used To Be ! »

We have stayed here in the past and found it to be a nice little get-away on the beach. Things have changed since our last stop. I don't know if it has new ownership or is just aging but it has gone down a few pegs. The bright smiles and "good mornings" were missing. The staff weren't rude or anything like that but something had changed. The carpet in the room was not very clean, we had no silverware and only two dishes, four mugs and a few pans in our ocean front room with kitchen. In-room safe is a nice touch and newer TV but not much HD content. We did kill a few big bugs in the room. On the other hand, the breakfast was enjoyable each morning, sun rises and the beach were great ! I'm not sure if we will come back here again but maybe we just hit a bad week.

« This hotel has management issues. »

When I booked our room a couple of weeks in advance for Feb 11th-13th I requested early check-in. We arrived at about 2:30 PM and normal check-in time is at 3:00. We were told that the room wouldn't be ready until 3:00 which was no problem. We would wait in the lobby with a couple of other parties. As time went on there were at least 7 parties waiting for rooms. The first desk clerk we spoke with told us it would be, ?? just a few more minutes.? as she left for the day at 3:00. Angel, her replacement, was very friendly and did her best to soothe the upset customers who were unable to get their room keys. She explained to each that the rooms needed to be checked and that the person doing that would bring down a list of rooms available. Well, the first waiting party to get keys got them at 4:02. We got ours at 4:20, 10 minutes shy of a 2-hour wait. One couple left after sharing some choice words with the clerk. This was on a Thursday of a cold week with nothing going on so they weren't right out straight, far from it. The parking lot was only about half full. I place the blame for this check-in nightmare on management. It is not the fault of housekeeping if they are under staffed or do not have the time to clean the rooms by check in time; this is on management. Why doesn't the person checking the rooms call or radio them in individually; why does she, ??bring down a list?? Seemingly, all rooms became available at 4:00 when what appeared to be some of the house keeping staff left for the day. What kind of system is that? It is not the desk clerk's fault if she has to answer the phone and service callers while at the same time trying to calm irate customers and answer their questions. This is management's fault for not having 2 people on the desk at especially busy times like 3:00 PM. Instead, management allows one desk clerk to leave at 3:00, one of the busiest times of the day. Where's the logic in that? So for a hotel of this size, there is only one person on the desk at check-in time (or much later). I read in the reviews that the hotel is under new management. If that is true, it might have gone from bad to worse. While this was the worst check-in experience my wife and I have ever had (45-60 stays/yr), the second worse was at this same hotel last year when the same thing happened but our lobby wait was only about 45 minutes. At that time the hotel was very busy with every parking space taken so I wrote it off. For pros and cons of other hotel aspects, read the reviews. It's all there. And nearly all are directly traced to management. We stay regularly in a very similar Best Western in North Myrtle Beach. It's right on the beach, and dated also, but we never have any problems there; management is on top of everything. The problems at the Castillo Del Sol could be fixed, but I will never know if that happens. If you plan to stay here I recommend you arrive well after 3:00 and forget about an early check-in.

    « Not the best »

When we arrived here we had issues parking due to a family playing football in the carpark, not a good start. Check in was fine but not overly friendly. The lifts to the rooms are up a couple of stairs when going to them from the reception area which is not very convenient. The corridor leading to the lift smelt of terrible. The room was clean but had a very strange musty odour. The location on the beach is nice and there is an excellent restaurant called Stonewood right across the street. The area is very nice but if I wanted to stay in the area again I would probably try to find a better hotel.

This hotel was OK for the price and had a nice beach. How ever I will spend a few dollars more next time and up grade to a nice hotel. The beds were not very comfy and the pillows need to up dated. « Always happy to go back »

We are returning customers, so we have a favorable opinion. I have to admit that the Hotel is not new and a little outdated in some areas. But if you consider the location (right on the beach) and the price they charge for their rooms (we had an Ocean Front Room with a kitchen and a balcony) you can't find any better place. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The complimentary breakfast was well appreciated and also the great service from the employee in charge. Unfortunately the pool was not heated, but the pool area was kept super clean and the pool itself was vacuumed every morning. I read comments that the chairs on the balcony were dirty. They are stained with the time. That's what happens with white plastic chairs after a few years. Eventually they should change the color when they change them. There is some constant maintenance going on and it is not disturbing. It's even a good sign. Painting, carpet cleaning, improvement in the inside parking etc. The only thing that was disappointing was that the kitchen was not supplied as it used to be (ie. pots & pans, utensils and other basic kitchen commodities). We had to ask a couple of times to get what we needed, but the problems was solved in the first days of our stay. I also have to mention that we had a rental car, but we also took a Votran Transit one week pass. It only costs $6.50 for a weekly senior pass. We used it and the bus stop was right in front of the Hotel. You only have to get comfortable with the bus schedules and there you go. The service is good and the drivers are accomodating in telling you where to get off or make a connection. It was a pleasant experience and useful in certain occasions. To summarize, I will admit that we had a great time and we are looking forward to go back, perhaps even longer next time.

    « Always a good stay »

We stay at this resort multiple times a year. This is our getaway from the day to day the staff are friendly and can't be beat. Its located right by Hwy 40 so plenty of shopping and Restaurants. The pool is great and the beach is more pleasurable here. Less Crowded.

« Staying at the Hotel Castillo Del Sol »

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. When we wanted to stay an extra night the desk clerks worked it out even though they were quite full on that day. The beds were excellent, my wife has a bad back and she was very happy with the beds. Also the breakfast was very good.

    « Most disappointed »

Previously this hotel had been great, however, due to some management changes we were very disappointed with our last trip. The staff could have cared less if we were happy or not and made no attempt to correct any of the complaints we had.

    « Great location »

We stayed one night. This is an older Best Western motel- but is well kept, clean and comfortable. Reception staff were helpful and friendly and efficient. Breakfast was perfectly adequate but did not have as wide a range as other BWs. Located right on the beach and near to facilities. All rooms seemed to have a sea view. There was a slight odour throughout, nothing to worry about, possibly due to the age of the building or its location- we didn't notice it after a while. Access is not the best for anyone with mobility problems.

    2
« Seems like it used to be a nice hotel »

This Best Western did not live up to my expectation for Best Westerns. The hotel staff was not rude, but nor were they particularly friendly. The building seemed like it used to be quite nice, but that it has not been kept up very well.

« The beach is why you would stay here. »

We came here as guests to do a day visit. While this is an older place they keep things as fresh as possible. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful; but spme of the cleaning staff need to be reminded about common courtesies or manners. The customer is why you have a job; not someone in your way. Our friends said the breakfast was ok; but their eggs were not good? Anyway if you have a room over looking the ocean and beach, all the other issues are not important!

« Unbelievable view. Couple negatives »

Let me start by saying the view from my room (409) oceanfront balcony was absolutely stunning. The room was clean and the everything in the room worked fine. There was a blue ray player I did not use but could be a good added feature if you have little ones. Beds were comfy and plenty of room to move around. Now to the few negatives. When I booked the room I called the hotel directly and said I wanted to make sure I got an ocean front room. The person told me that it wouldn't be a problem cause those rooms are first come first served but the hotel was very under booked so the chances of one not being available are very slim. So I booked the room through her. When I arrived the gentleman checking me in stated I was being given a ocean view room. I asked why I wasn't getting a oceanfront room and he said when booking through Priceline.com there were no guarantees. I told him I had booked through the hotel and he "double checked" and said "oh I see that now" and gave me room 409 which is oceanfront. I mention this as a warning if you book through other than the hotel you may be out of luck because the hotel seemed to me to be maybe 50% full. I say that cause in the 3 nights I stayed only one other time did I see another person on balcony. Also as nice as the view of the ocean is from the balcony there is no privacy (see picture of other balconies from my balcony). Now to the breakfast. The Belgium waffle maker was great. There was some fruit and breads and cereals, all this was fine. The eggs were un edible and the ham and sausage was not very good either. The OJ tasted like chemicals coffee was ok and hot and everything was laid out in a manner that even when the the place was full of people there wasn't much wait to get your items. So if you are looking for a room with a view for a good price this is your place. Just make sure they don't try and do a double switch on you like they tried to do to me.

    « Wonderful »

We got an awesome rate using the coupon book even let us have 2 nights at that price we were ocean view beds were great, place was clean fan in the bathroom was noisy and the water was not very hot, but it had a kitchen area and every room had a balcony. Breakfast was good all in all a great deal for the price.

    « bad customer service »

I start with pros. Neighborhood and beach was really nice and the quality of room was ok. However, it was not as clean as I expected specially bathroom and towels. In the kitchenette the only thing you have is a sink! My main issue was with their customer service. I booked this hotel online and paid the full charge. But they charged me again after I checked out. I called them twice to be able to follow up this problem with them. First they denied the charge!! then they accepted and promised to pull it out! But they did not! long story short, I had to contact my bank to solve this issue. CARELESS customer service!

« Visiting my sons and metal detecting on the beaches.... »

Luckily, I was able to get a very good rate online; beachfront and very close to where my sons live. I arrived before 10 AM, and my room was ready for me, so I was able to check in early! On its face, the hotel looks dated from the outside, and the room, while very comfortable, could use a freshening. There was no microwave but it did have a mini-fridge. The staff was very friendly, even calling my room 15 minutes after I'd unpacked to ensure I was satisfied. The only alarming issue was at check-in, when I was told I'd be pre-billed $5/day for 'incidentals', whatever those may be. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean and, overall, I had a good experience....apart from not finding any jewelry on the beach with my metal detector.

« BAD EXPERIENCE TOO EXPENSIVE FOR POOR QUALITY »

Not clean, very unorganized, staff not very helpful, very very expensive for a very very poor quality..... I do not recommend this hotel for staying at all..... Elevators very dirty, the exterior of the hotel not good.... The hotel do not have enough parking for all the guests... it was a nightmare to stay in that hotel. My kids did not enjoy at all....

    « Affordable Beachfront Hotel »

Loved the location of this hotel. It has a pool and access to the beach. Hotel provides beach chairs in good weather. We were there when it was too windy and cool to swim in the ocean or use the beach chairs but we had great walks on the beach both evening and morning. Excellent value for location. Clean.

    3
« SOME PROS, SOME CONS »

The locatioin was excellent as it is right on the beach. Good parking. Hotel looks like it has seen better days and could use a renovation. Our room overlooked the beach and was very relaxing. However, the clock radio, one wall lamp and the microwave clock did not work. Room was comfortable but appeared dated.

    « Hotel nightmare »

This hotel could be on hotel nightmares. The rooms are disgusting. They are not clean. There are cockroaches. We moved to 3 rooms and had to stick with the last one because there were no more hotels for 45 miles. Oh and the doors are all outside. Yuck.

« Great view and value »

Stayed on 7th floor over looking the beach and could hear the surf. Large room with full kitchen. Could have stayed a week. January prices were fantastic around $80 a night. Good value when you have a frig and stove to use. Beautiful pool and fire pit. Easy access to the beach walk. Would come back again.

« Great place for a weekend escapade! »

If you enjoy the beach and love nice invigorating morning walks by yourself or your better half, beautiful sunrises from your bed with the sound of the sea as background music, or if you don't want to leave your room and feel like cooking for your significant other or feel like for a romantic candlelight dinner with an awesome spectacle as a backdrop... do I need so say more or do you get the picture? Choose the right season of the year and you will find out what I am trying to say.

    « Ormond Beach, FL »

This hotel is clean. The view from the oceanfront room was spectacular. The room has it's own balcony with 2 chairs. The room was equipped with a 2 burner stove, fridge, microwave, toaster, coffee maker. Bathroom was clean. The bed was comfortable and the heater was quiet. Not too many restaurants nearby. I saw a Burger King and a Pizza place. I probably missed some others on the drive in.

    5
    « Great place »

Easy to find. Lots of parking. Variety of places to eat across the street. Friendly staff, helpful. Cleaning personnel are very hardworking, conscientious. Our room is clean quiet on the ocean. The heating, cooling unit works great. Small kitchen area, no utensils. No oven, but stovetop, microwave, coffeemaker, large fridge. Good tv. Breakfast included eggs, ham, waffles, fresh fruit, oatmeal packages, breakfast included with rental. Pool by ocean. No fitness area. Balcony. Beautiful beach.

« Beautiful room with a great view »

The room was a beautiful, large, accessible room with furniture that really works for the traveler! Balcony with ocean/beach and street views. Bath all one room, but sink area separated by a wall. Nice shower but water was too hot - we had trouble cooling it down enough to use it. Plastic patio chairs were filthy - we used wet toilet paper and a bath towel to clean them enough to be usable. Breakfast room was very large but laid out VERY poorly - no flow, and everyone was bunched up. Coffee and juice were at the END of the counter, against a wall. Food OK, but nothing different or stood out. Any kind of food you want within two miles, some within walking distance. Entry side extremely noisy from the street.

    « Less than expected »

The name Best Western is nationally known, not to be a high-end hotel but assumed it would be adequate to spend a few nights. My husband booked it without me reviewing. And I didn't bother to check any reviews as this was going to be our second trip in two weeks and I planned the other. On our arrival I waited in the rental car while my husband checked in. The building was older, but the exterior appeared to be maintained. It was a different story after walking into the lobby. The carpet was worn well past its usefulness as well as dirty! The dirt continued into the elevator. I was still hoping the room would be better. Once we arrived to our room the door showed signs of a break-in. This really concerned me. Once in the room, it showed signs of wear and tear. Carpet dirty and worn. There was a balcony and the view was very nice. However it was marred by the rust of the railings and the two filthy plastic chairs. I could barely tell they were white. I don't think they were weathered just neglected. The room was equipped with a refrigerator and microwave. The setup was apparently for traveling families. The bathroom contained a tub and toilet. The sink was on the outside of the bathroom. I brought bleach wipes and cleaned the tub and toilet. They looked dirty and from the looks of everything else I did not trust the house keepings idea of clean. The stay came with free breakfast. The first morning I went down to get a piece of fruit, there was none. There was a waffle maker, cereal, yogurt, coffee, juice, bagel, bread for toast? the usual. So since there was no fruit I decided to get some yogurt. However the spoon dispenser was empty. It was super crowded and only one person frantically trying to keep up with servicing everything. So, I decided to give up and wait until I got dressed and went to breakfast. The next day I went down and got coffee it was pretty good and they did have fruit. I didn't have much interaction with the staff, but my husband did. He is the most easy-going person I know and rarely complains, so when he says the person working the front desk Thursday morning was extremely rude I believe him. The place was booked judging from the crowd at the breakfast and the difficulty in finding a parking spot in the evening. So I imagine that it is difficult to close down to make the needed upgrades, but I would never go back to this hotel in the state that it is in. I decided it was only three nights we spent most of the time away from the hotel anyway, so we stayed (in addition we may not have been able to find another hotel). And it was nice to take walks along the beach in the mornings.

    « Great Hotel & Location »

Had my doubts at first but once i got checked in those doubts went away. Excellent staff, breakfast, hugh clean rooms with excellent views. Only dislike about the room was not having a microwave and the window in the shshower. But still Defiantly one to add to my "keepers" book..

« Good breakfast, extremely slow reception, front office error cost us $100 extra!! »

Prime example of false adversiting! All rooms are not ocean facing!! Ours faced a rooftop! We went around Christmas, there was only 1 person behind the desk..took us half hour to check in!! Equally long to check out and they charged us $113 extra by mistake, which we figured only after receiving our statement. It took 2 weeks of following up to cancel the charges. The first time around, someone told us the charges would go away but they didn't so we had to keep following through till they did!! Breakfast is good though. And the strip of private beach is good too.

« Ok I have updated this review a bit, and changed my rating to 3 star, Good breakfast! »

Took forever to check in, once in, the room was filthy, pillows are a joke (have to go buy a new one at Bealls) microwave hasn't been cleaned, carpet gross, so much dust everywhere...stay somewhere else. UPDATE: Staff did come in and clean the microwave for us, and they were very pleasant. They do have a very good complimentary breakfast!

    « Traveling thru »

My wife and i stay here at the castillo del sol on our way to and from kissimmee we are snow birds. Usually our stay is ok but this time i am really upset with the condition of our house keeping and the cleanliness of our room. I am not jokeing the carpet is so dirty that it made our bare feet black . I felt like my feet felt stickey so i looked at the bottom of my feet and they were filthy not just brown but black. I talked to the house keeping supervisor and i was told they were going to replace the carpet, well i want to tell you it hasn't been that long that this carped has been replaced, it just hasn't been cleaned, plus on our second day no face towels no hand towels and a dirity comode. It would be hard for me to recomend this hotel to fellow travelers.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The price was reasonable. The room was clean and odor free. The bed was comfortable. We had a great view of the ocean. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this hotel to others.

« winter fun and soccer showcase in florida 2015 »

Great value. This property is slightly dated but clean and well cared for. The location is fabulous - direct access to the beach and close to many restaurants. We traveled for family fun followed by a soccer showcase. Wished our team had stayed at this property.

    2
    « Brown feet »

Carpets dirty; our feet were brown within moments of getting out of the shower. Lights burnt out. No plates, bowls, forks, pots/pans, or water glasses in our room; we were told the hotel "normally" charges a $20 fee for this -- I've been going there for years and they most certainly do not "normally" do that, and it was neither disclosed nor offered on the web site.

    3
« Great Location, Needs better Staffing »

I want so bad to give this property a better rating but I just can't. You could never ask for a better location. The beach was wonderful, the outdoor pool large and it had a nice fire pit for night time enjoyment. I was there with our family and our 7 rooms. I originally picked this property because they also had a meeting room for our catered meal one afternoon. The rooms were a nice size and generally clean but not spotless or without missing items, i.e. toilet paper, correct amount of towels etc. It appeared they were short of housekeepers as I heard many complain among themselves about how many rooms they were given. The front desk was always overwhelmed and only had one guest service agent on duty at any given time. The afternoon agent, Angel was working as hard as she could but the line was out the door every afternoon that I was there. She kept her composure and I'll give her plaudits for being able too. The biggest problem everyday was the hotel was out of room towels and pool towels. Wasn't sure if they were just plain short of towels or once again not enough help. The morning clerk, was brand new to the area and the hotel yet left alone each morning and unable to handle the crowds. She was trying very hard to keep up. The hotel had many maintenance issues and the worst for me was that our room door was hard to close. Twice the housekeeping staff left the door open.

    4
    « Very nice rooms »

Very nice service and very nice rooms. View of ocean from balcony and the door into our room. Nice size pool. Would be better if heated (January ) not much for vending machines. Office does sell Coke products.

« Good hotel on the beach »

Came as part of time share deal. Was pleasantly pleased. Feels like an older hotel, but was clean and the room quite spacious with two good double beds. Kitchen had only one pot, but there were others in the maintenance room which we did not ask for; plates and cups but no cutlery. Room had small balcony that faced the beach. Room was quiet except for once where neighbouring balcony which is only a meter or two away had loud music, they lowered it shortly afterwards. We would go again.

    « Anything worse than a 1? »

This place is DISGUSTING! We were here for New Years Eve. The carpet was sticky, the tub was stained brown, the efficiency lacked cutlery and cups, there was body hair (of the personal nature) on the wall of the bathroom! The Bathroom window had film on it. The whole place GROSS! And of course We were trapped with two children in these conditions since everything sold out for two days! Left early on the 3rd day (even though the night Paid for tonight) and making our way back to virginia. I left feeling itchy. Yucky. Don't go there. If you're stuck- get your hepatitis shots.

    4
    « Great hotel »

Nothing bad to say about the place. Angel was very nice. It was packed since there was a soccer team in town. The breakfast bar was full. The apple Juice wasn't the best but it was ok. There were plenty of tables to sit and eat. The room was pretty big also. Very clean and no smell. The beds were nice and neat. I would definitely come back.

« Convenient and on the beach »

This hotel is about 10 minutes from the busier Daytona beach boardwalk. Convenient, at a great price. Staff is welcoming and the hot/cold breakfast is good. Beds aren't too bad and the rooms aren't real large but had everything we needed. Except day after Christmas there was no coffee in the lobby and our rooms coffee maker was missing an important part, but housekeeper in a couple rooms down helped with the part needed. They could remove one of the table with chairs for more room and clean the 2 mirrors not above sink. Second time I've stayed at this hotel, mirrors were needing to be cleaned then too. Loved having our own oceanfront patio near the pool deck. It is so convenient when traveling with a young baby and all the items you bring. Though patio and table/ chairs needed to be power washed. Only real thing that we had an issue with....The doors! Patio doors are VERY hard to open and close, because of the salt water and main door was just as hard to close. If you are trying to be quiet, to not wake a sleeping baby or disturb others you will fail. Lol Beautiful sunrises made up the difference.

    3
« Nice Location, Not so Nice Facility »

The location of this BW is ideal, right on the beach and the price is great. However, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for. My key did not twice, the light over the sink did not work, the beds were lumpy, the balconies offer no privacy, the continental breakfast was sub-par, and the birds took over the pool-EVERY DAY!!! Again, location-wise, it was perfect for day trips to Orlando and St. Augustine, which was the purpose of our trip. Would not stay here again though.

    4
    « Angel was perfect. »

After someone screwed up our reservation Angel did her best to make a bad situation good. With the lobby full of unhappy people she was upbeat and professional. I will go back because she went above and beyond. This is one great hotel other than that one mishap.

« Not one single thing to complain about »

We booked this room for such an incredibly low rate on a discount site, that I was a little worried about the quality. However, I had noting to be worried about. Like much of Daytona Beach, the property is older, but very well maintained. The rooms have a current feel as they are using the more modern bedding style. Like any beach front property that is not brand new a little rust can be found on metal items like hinges. The towels and sheets, were spotlessly white. The bathroom also was clean, which Is a big deal to me. The mattresses were firm but not hard. I hate the smaller pillows and wish I had brought my own. Those smaller pillows seem to be the industry standard at any price point though. Breakfast was on par with all the other brands that offer a free hot breakfast. The eggs a little bland but nothing the tobacco packets could not fix. The teen and tween liked making the waffles. Unlike most hotels they also had blueberry batter and apple cinnamon batter in addition to fruit toppings. The pool is larger than many and the patio is perfect. A large fire-pit sits where you can see both the pool and the beach. Makes for a relaxing near perfect evening. We would certainly consider staying here next time we are in the area. *****Note**** one precious reviewer stated the pool is heated. It certainly is not, nor do they advertise it to be. Not a complaint, just a heads up. We Floridians found it far too cold to swim, but the Canadians were having a blast.

    3
    « Hotel stay »

quality average, could be cleaner. The location was great for what we were going to do. We only stayed one night. We accumulate points for this program and that is why we stayed there. We prefer another brand that was not located in the area.

    3
« Could have been cleaner »

It's an older hotel but general appearance was good the room looked nice, but carpeting was dirty, I quickly learned that by walking around without shoes on- my feet were filthy! It's right on the beach and the view from out balcony was wonderful and that was much of what I was looking for.

    3
« Honest assessment of Castillo Del Sol* »

The property could use some attention. Paint, deep cleaning, and cleaning of the mold in the bathroom ( grout and window casing). The decor of the room was acceptable. The fridge, micro, cupboards and drawn were wonderful. The cleanliness of the room was not acceptable. Mold in the bathroom shower grout and around the window in the tub area were obvious. The room's molding could use a coat of paint. The housekeepers had not left enough towels, plastic cups, ice bucket liners and TV listings.

    « Nice Beach Hotel »

I know I'm off season, rain and wind like its a hurricane, but what a nice place to stay. Yes, it is an older Best Western but they've kept it up and have some nice extras. A power strip next to the bed; why don't they all do this. DVD player, FULL kitchen, check out my pictures. Two nice tables with chairs, and full bathroom sink counter. Yes, carpet is frayed going into the toilet area, and shower head won't adjust off of pulsating, main door has to be tugged to close fully, but that isn't enough to change my rating. Great location on the beach with IHOP and Dunkin Donut within walking distance across the street, love that. Oh yes, when we signed in we asked the desk clerk for a balcony and she gave it to us! Yes, we're out of season but that was sure nice of her. We will becoming back here.

« Gorgeous ocean front balconies »

Glad the hotel we usually stayed at was out of rooms with two beds. Just a block up the street was the gem we didn't know about! Our point level upgraded us to the ocean front rooms and the view was beautiful. The other rooms have ocean view, also nice. Our room was huge with an efficiency we also didn't expect. Great water pressure for a nice shower. The pool looked nice, but it the breeze was too chilly to test it and we spent most of our time at Daytona Int'l Speedway for Turkey Rod Run. Nice lower level garage to park your vehicles in so the salty breeze is blocked. There is even a hose to rinse your vehicle with! We'll be back in the spring.

    « Weekend Get Away »

A nice little retreat from home which is only about 30 miles away. Never seem to get to the beach these days so the large, clean room with little kitchenette was a pleasant surprise. Great view of the beach for about $13 more than the going deal. Worth it for the direct view even though we picked a stormy weekend. We'll be back.

« Last minute decision to stay... »

While traveling, our family decided to stop and stay the night somewhere close to a beach. I checked on my phone to see local areas and find a decent hotel. After searching several, I found BW CDS, Ormond Beach, FL. I called to see if we could get a room. There were only a few rooms left. We were about 25 minutes away from there, so we checked in when we got there. Wonderful experience! Beautiful, breathtaking view!! The only bad thing, we found a few things in the room that housekeeping had overlooked.

    « Great Stay »

« Tia was a super big help! »

We didn't actually stay here but I just had to give a shout out. Do to a mix up on my part when booking through Priceline, I got the dates wrong and did not realize until we showed up at the front desk after driving from Tampa. Tia, the girl behind the counter regretfully informed us that they were booked and no rooms available. However, she got on the phone an found us a great deal at a partner property about a mile down the road that turn out to be just what we wanted. Thanks Tia!

    « Okay Western...not necessarily "Best" »

I had an ocean view room (which is VERY misleading), but the key card did not work, so the nice lady at the desk gave me an ocean front room. I have a handicapped placquard and I parked in a handicapped space. From the lobby, there is no way to get to the elevator without going up steps. Otherwise, I'd have to go back outside and around to get to the elevators. The elevator was HOT!!! NO AIR at all! There were obvious places of "repair" of the walkway above my head. Scary!!! The Room door opened outward - not very classy considering you could knock someone out exiting your room if they passed by on the walk way at the same time. The room was big, had a kitchenette. Bathroom was tiny and had a window that opened to the walk way...OMG!!! The chairs in the room were small. I'm a large person, and I couldn't sit in the chairs with arm rests. The room temperature was FABULOUS!!! Air conditioner was loud, but it sure worked well! The sliding door to the balcony was stuck! I had to man handle it to get it to open! The lady at the front desk was VERY nice. She called to check on me.

    « Back again! »

We've stayed at this hotel twice a year, November & April for the past 5 years. We don't think you can beat the location. It's close to the natural beach where no cars or motored vehicles are allowed. We walk to all our favorite restaurants all within 2 miles of the hotel. The thing we did notice during this visit was they appeared to be under staffed. Housekeeping wasn't consistent and the property wasn't as kept up as in previous years. There are only 2 maintenance men from what I could see to take care of the exterior grounds etc. It just wasn't as clean as it used to be. There are so many things that need to be updated and cleaned but overall it's a nice beach front hotel. The concerns and problems I did have I spoke with the manager and he took care of everything that I brought to his attention. Can't complain there! Hopefully when we return in the April there will be some improvements, if not, we'll have to find a different place to stay on Ormond Beach.

Stayed here and was okay with the hotel even if it is an older hotel. I highly recommend this hotel. The building is old but it has been fully remodeled. The service was great. We had booked an ocean view room but they had already upgraded us for free before we arrived to an oceanfront. They allowed us to check in about noon because they were relatively slow. Our room was very big with a kitchenette and full sized refrigerator. The pool is huge and nice. The beach is very narrow, but pretty with good waves. They do not provide chairs for the beach, so bring your own if you want them. The breakfast was large and OK. The waffles and canadian bacon were good, but the eggs were powered and tasted like the box they came in (despite adding salt, pepper, and ketchup to disguise the taste). They also had cereal, bagels, pastries, fruit cups, and yogurt. I would definitely stay there again.

« Night on the beach »

This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. We have not visited the Daytona area for a long time so we were not sure what to expect. So on Halloween when we checked in to a bargain priced ocean front room with a balcony no less we found it to be....clean and in good condition with a kitchenette no less. The front desk at both check in and check out were first rate, friendly and quick with a smile. Ormond Beach is peaceful compared to Daytona so if you are a party animal it's maybe too quiet for you. But if you want a nice location on the beach side of A1A then try it. We will go back again when we can. Also, the breakfast was darn good. Eggs, ham, waffles, cereal, breads, yogurt, unsweetened applesauce, Dole tropical fruit and more. Like I said...a pleasant surprise at USD 62.00 a night plus tax on a Saturday night.

« Great price. Great location. Average room. »

When we arrived bed sheets were wrinkled, hair found in bed, looked like they had not been changed in awhile. Requested new set of sheets. They were brought up and we changed them ourselves. Also on two occasions there were large bugs in the room. We understand this is a beach location and there will be bugs on occasion. Otherwise rooms were okay, it was a great location and a good value for the money.

We have stayed at this Best Western for the past 6 years. The staff is so very helpful and concerned that your stay is the best. We meet friends from all over the country for this special week and would not stay anywhere else. Thanks to Arlene, Louis, Kenny, Pamela, Patty, Jackie and Crystal for making our stay a great one.

« Clean and inexpensive hotel »

We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. We had a view of the ocean from our balcony. The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was very nice. If we are in the area again we will definitely stay here.

« Very Happy to have found you »

We have been staying at Daytona Beach at least 4 times a year for over 20 years, almost always at the same hotel - Plaza Ocean Club. Last 2 visits there were horrible, dirty, rude uncaring staff, many problems with room and stay. We found your hotel on an exploratory trip to check out our options and were impressed by the staff, the overall comfort and cleanliness of our room, and the beautiful location. Also, that breakfast was offered as part of our stay. We are looking for a place to go as a couple, a place where I can bring my grown grandchildren and affordably stay on the beach as well as to visit as a couple as a romantic getaway. And we come each year to Bike Week and Biketoberfest (the reason for this last stay). I think we have found our next "home." The only improvement was that my partner has a bad back and was not too comfortable with the bed - but I had no problem and was very happy - especially with the cleanliness, and with your wonderful staff. Thanks to all.

« Great hotel, location and staff »

What can we say, everything about the place is lovely. Beautiful/comfortable rooms and a great home base to do all different types of activities, and the beach across the street is gorgeous. The staff is excellent and deliver very personalized service; we enjoyed chatting with Melissa and Travis everyday, and look forward to coming back.

« good hotel for good price »

We had an ocean view room on the 4th floor, with a balcony. It was a large room with kitchen cabinets, a sink and small refrigerator. The room was large and clean, the bathroom was standard. For the price, it was a good room. The pool was basic, there was a nice fire pit for the evening, and plenty of tables and chairs to relax near the pool at night, or have a picnic. Easy parking and beach access, free wi-fi and free breakfast, which was quite crowded but ok.

this place was on the beach.. literally.. quiet.. everyone was friendly, and helpful. the room was clean, lobby was clean. staff could tell you how to get to anywhere and knew all the good local restaurants. we didn't have the complimentary breakfast. (late sleepers) but there is an ihop across the street. (total hit with a 6 yr old) overall we would come here again.

« This hotel was one problem after another and dirty! »

I wrote a review on this hotel last summer, but feel I need to write a completely different review of out latest stay. I had booked 2 rooms. One for my 86 year old parents. We arrived at approximately 2:00, but front desk said our rooms weren't ready yet. I had asked for room 410 a few days before and was told I could have it. When I went to inquire when the maids would be finished, I was told it was ready. Went back down to front desk and they informed me that was not my room and somebody else would be arriving later who had already booked that room. So my 86 year old father with bad knees continued to wait. His room was finally ready at approximately 4:00. Or so we thought. The water was running continuously in the bath tub and it was moldy. Both patio doors to the rooms were off track and extremely hard to open. The maintenance mad said we were lucky because they weren't as bad as most. Lucky us! He did nothing. Had a huge day at Disney World planned with grandbabies. The night prior to this our toilet flooded all the way out onto about 6 ft of the carpet to say nothing about the entire bathroom. I called maintenance again. He said no one was there to fix at that time of night. I asked him to please bring up some towels. He sent up 5 towels and allowed me to try to clean up the mess, but it didn't help. Every towel we had was completely drenched and the carpet was still soaked! I found it very difficult to sleep after that with germs all around me. SO our next day at Disney was completely exhausting! To say nothing of not being able to shower before we left. The management gave me a whopping $15 off our $500 bill for our trouble. The plumbing was messed up from day one. The bathrooms were filthy. Next door neighbors chain smoked on the balcony and smoke continuously came to our balcony. I asked management if this was allowed and she said "yes it was" even though we were in a nonsmoking room. To top it all off, my brothers who was staying with my parents had a wedding band come up missing after the maid had been in his room. Don't leave your valuables laying around! Also the coffee was the absolute worst I have ever tasted, and the fake breakfast eggs were gross. DONT STAY HERE!

« Good for the weekend! »

We decided last minute to take a trip to Florida from North Carolina. We booked the Best Western the day of travel. It turned out to be okay. The beds are nice. It was very comfortable. The room was decent, nothing broken or gross, but we did notice some cobb webs on the lamps. We had an oceanfront room with a balcony 6 floors up. The view was amazing and it was very therapeutic to sit on the balcony and watch the ocean. I found the room to be the perfect size for me and my husband. We did kill a large bug in our room on the wall, but its a hotel at the beach, what do you really expect? Only problem we had was they overcharged our credit card $192 which was refunded on our card 2 days later. Overall great long weekend getaway in Ormond Beach & Daytona! We will return to flordia!

    « Nice Motel »

My husband and I stayed here for 10 days. Housekeeping was great, breakfast was exceptional. The lady who maintained the area was fantastic...you could tell she was really dedicated to her job. Tia at the front desk was sweet. The only thing I would rate badly in this hotel was the hot water when you would take a shower. Only two times was the water at an acceptable temperature; otherwise, you had to let the water run for at least 10 minutes to reach a warmer temperature. It was kind of odd that you were furnished two small bottles of shampoo but no conditioner or lotion, but that was ok. We paid extra to have an oceanfront room which was really nice, small balcony, but that was ok too. We didn't spend much time out there. Had a great time.

« Best place to stay »

The employees are great, friendly and provide excellent service, you cannot beat the ocean view at moon rise or sunrise, and the breakfast is to die for. If you are not completely happy with your stay at Best Western Castillo Del Sol on Ormond Beach, then you will never be happy with anything in which case you may want to stay home.

    « Ordinary hotel »

Cheap hotel right beside Ormond beach, also near drive to the famous Daytona beach. The hotel needs some refreshing, it have old rooms and overall it seem to be overaged hotel. But it is cheap and have free parking, wifi and brekafast so you get what you pay for. Just 1 night stay it was ok for us. We tried Daytona beach which was wonderful. Do not expect newly renovated rooms. But it was clean and it worked for one night. Breakfast was not the best you tried, but as I understand it is common on hotels with free breakfast. Aircon was noisy. We had view over the sea which was nice.

    « Misleading Room Accomodations »

Starting with our arrival. Front desk was unmanned for 10 minutes while we were standing there...We could hear people chatting in the back office we called out numerous times but they were chatting so loudly they failed to hear us...No apologies on her part for not being at the desk .We asked the clerk if our room was ocean view and she said it was but "not ocean front" saying there were no open ocean front rooms available, her attitude was rude, and she had no customer service skills....We went to our room and as in a previous guest review, our door would not open and close without slamming it....We went to front desk clerk and she had a maintenance employee come and spray WD40 on the door lock while insisting she had no ocean front rooms and could not change our room, which we never asked her to do.....When it was dusk we went to the "Ocean front" view of the hotel and could see many available rooms where she had insisted that none of these rooms were available... The tub faucet was not working....We went sightseeing the next day, and were gone until 4pm when we returned our room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk and she said the cleaning staff was gone again maintenance delivered fresh towels and took our garbage and dirty towels...I had to go to the front desk and request additional shampoo, soap, coffee and small towels...It was not the responsibility of maintenance to clean our room...In the morning the breakfast was manned by the afternoons front desk clerk no wonder she was weary at 2:30 in the afternoon....No HBO or prime channels available....Not impressed with the hotel and especially with the day staff....
