« Great hotel within walking distance of Universal »

We were going to get the shuttle bus to Universal Studios but opted to walk instead which only took 20 minutes. There is a Walgreens, iHop and KFC all along the way although the hotel also has a café and restaurant. The rooms were a great size and really clean. The staff were friendly and we didn't have any issues that we needed to report. We didn't hear any noise from the other rooms although I don't know if this was because of good sound insulation or quiet guests.

    « Excellent staff »

The staff went all out for us, checking us in early, helping us on numerous occasions, Particularly one at the desk. Anapavia, the front desk clerk, made our whole trip, the hotel is average, a good deal, that's why we stayed there , but the staff make this a great choice!

    « Excellent »

From the start we experienced superb customer service - the staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and we spent a little time at the pool which was lovely. Great value for money and in a super convenient location.

« The best value for money in Orlando. »

My compliments to the honest friendly staff. You can see , they realy enjoy their job and do everything to make make their guests feel at home. In this hotel , you are not a number who brings in dollars, you are a guest. All the members speak good englisch, and are willing to help you. There is free parking, swimming pool, fitness, a little shop, office with free printer en free transport to some parks. Although the hotel is not new, it is clean. You cannot open the windows, but the airco works good. The rooms with two big beds and office are well equiped with fridge, coffee machine, microwave, ironing board and safe. And not to forget: FREE strong wifi. Best Western is over-delivering, what gives a good feeling. Much better value then 3x more expensive Renaissance hotel at Seaworld. In the same week, I had to stay there for a conference, but did not like the unpersonal "sleep fabrik". Their cleaners were cheep labor who did not understand a word englisch. They charge for parking an add of $25,- and full wifi $19.- a day. Everything was set up to get as much money as possible out of their customers. Streight after the conference, i went back to the Best Western. Not the modernst place, but i loved it, and felt home!

« Good value for the money »

Good price, clean rooms. Buy the $8 breakfast buffet when you check in.It' s standard basic food (hot and cold), but good if your heading to the theme parks and using the shuttle. They don't charge for parking.

    « Exceptional Staff & Service! »

This hotel goes out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect! They definitely went above and beyond! This will be my first choice of hotels to stay in on any of my return trips to Orlando Florida.

    « Interesting »

The Best Western Gateway was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating but the hotel needs an upgrade. Something bathroom fixtures needed fixing, they were not in perfect working order and needed fixing.

    5
    « Comfortable Stay »

Great accommodations. Comfortable bed, quiet room close to restaurants. Had to pay for buffet breakfast but was worth the price. Pool and spa accommodations were clean and up to date. Had a choice of 100 degree or 104 degree outdoor hot tub by the pool Universal Studios just 1.5 miles down the road from hotel.

« Good value good location hotel »

Despite being a very busy family hotel in the heart of Orlando tourist area all the staff were friendly and helpful. The Director of Front Office, Jherusa Puerta was extremely helpful. When we had a small leak in the bathroom the maintenance man was there in minutes, fixed the leak and noticed 3 other items which were not quite right and sorted them without us asking.

« Perfect Hotel in Orlando »

I keep staying in this hotel, because the hotel is situated in a very good position to go around Orlando. Easy access to Florida Mall, Millenia Mall, International Drive e Outlet. Very Friendly staff, Pool , Tenis court, free parking. Clean Rooms. Delicious Breakfast.

    « Pleasant place »

I am a member of Best Western and I stayed here because I have trusted the brand globally. It didn't disappoint. A little old, you get a little smell here and there of something dump or old. But I have to say they have kept it very well and it's affordable. I was a little surprised I had to pay for breakfast, but it's not a biggie. The staff are the most amazing! Special mention to one lady who is expecting who has the sweetest spirit. The gym is average but sufficient. I highly recommend.

« great value for the money »

Clean hotel, great staff, lovely pool, They have a nice little restaurant with a breakfast buffet that was good, within walking distance of several other restaurants The only downside was they didn't have any shuttles but we used Uber. Close to universal but not walking distance unless you are a hiker. Across the street from the waterpark but it was closing down.

    3
« You get what you pay for »

I will start with the Pros: - Great staff. They are friendly, knowledgeable, quick, and kind. - Clean. Although totally dated I felt the hotel was fairly clean. - Bed. The mattress and linens were very comfortable. I was out like a light. Not sure if this is because of the miles walked at the theme park or the actual bedding. Now for the Negatives: - NO FREE BREAKFAST - I must have misread this somewhere, but when I booked I was under the impression that there was complimentary breakfast. This is NOT TRUE. Breakfast is like $10.00 a person. - Welcome to the 70s - This hotel is super dated. Like horribly. - Smells. I know this is not a huge negative, but for some reason all the common areas and hallways smelled. - NO HOT WATER - this was the biggest problem for me. The only day we had hot water was Friday at about 9:00 PM ish. I had to take to cold showers and wash my face with cold water every morning. - Water pressure - .. you know how when you were little and you would kink your water hose and only like a few drops would come out at one time. That is your shower here. I mean I had to cup my hands to collect water to rinse myself. - Ceiling is like 6 ft tall in the hall ways. If you are over 6 foot tall I guess you can imagine that you are in LOTR in hobbit land. Overall.. for what you pay for this hotel it is what you should expect. You aren't paying for a nice hotel. You are paying for somewhere to sleep while you visit the parks without breaking the bank. Also we found the shuttle was a headache so we would take it when convenient and Uber when not.

    4
    « Average »

This was a good cheap average hotel that is nice and close to universal studios. They are pretty heavy on the timeshare pitches but easily avoidable if your not interested. There is no breakfast but there's an inside restaurant with a breakfast for 10$ but there's also a Dennys a couple of blocks away that gives you a better meal for the same price

    4
    « Enjoyable, attentive staff »

Arrived mid afternoon. My husband forgot to tell them that we needed a handicapped room. No problem they provided us with a handicapped room. Unfortunately what they considered handicapped is not really handicapped. The bath tub/shower just had hand held rails -- I needed a roll-in shower. For one night I survived. The price was excellent, the free breakfast was plentiful and the shuttle bus to the park was great.

    3
    « Old »

a bit shabby hotel. all very old, but very well can stay here. breakfast was good, and the staff is friendly. reasonable walking distance of Universal Studios. near the supermarket, water park and other activities

    2
« Great price & location, lots of mold »

Price and location were great, staff were friendly enough. Unfortunately they have a serious mold problem. I switched my first room because of the mildew smell and the second was not much better. Upon removing the cover from the PTAC (HVAC unit in the window) I discovered that the blower motor was caked in mold, as was the inside of the front cover. Pictures of both are attached. I get that it's Florida and the air everywhere is wet all the time, but the staff seemed to be unaware that this was even a problem, as they accepted the smell of the mold as normal. They need to significantly improve their standards and do a serious cleaning of their PTACs, or better yet, replace them all. Other than that, no complaints.

    « Great Service!!! »

After driving 9 hours to Orlando, I was absolutely exhausted. I wanted nothing more than to get some sleep. Anpavia was so wonderful!! She took care of us! The hotel was full so she called us as soon as our room was clean! The staff at the entertainment desk was also great. The rooms are very clean, beds comfortable, clean linens. Ignore the bad reviews because I've not experienced one negative thing during my stay. Also great - if you miss the shuttle times you can walk to Universal, it's not far at all.

« Best stay in a hotel we have ever had! »

The people at this best western hotel are outstanding. They have provided us with some of the best customer service I have ever seen. Also a special thank you to Edshalyce, Eric and Orlando these people went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect and pleasant as possible! As a thank you we will be recommending Best Western to everyone!

    « Pleasant stay »

My boyfriend and I stayed here last weekend for Halloween horror nights, which was a big plus since universal is right up the street! The rooms were spotless, checking in/out was a breeze. Will definitely book again!

    « Outstanding Service »

Hotel was clean, hot breakfast was above par. Hot water and coffee available all day is a absolute plus. Plus there is a Trolley stop right outside the hotel. The reason I rated it excellent is the customer service. Derek Babcock the assistant GM there provided us with a ton of information such as places to see, eat and how to get around (I-Ride Trolley). Additionally there was a mix up with our reservation due to a 3rd party website and called all parties to make sure everything was resolved. Thanks again Derek.

    « Convenient & Friendly Hotel »

Stayed here for one night after arriving from UK flight, we wanted to stay close to the International airport, the guy on the front desk was very helpful and chatty. while the corridors look a bit tired our room was very well maintained, clean and great for a single night. The location is close to the I 4 and also the Orlando Eye, Madam Tussauds & Sea Life Aquarium. Would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Location, location, location... »

Everything in Orlando is spread out, it takes a while to get from A to B. Staying at a place like this that was so centrally located was a great deal. Everything is near by, even at a walking distance, restaurants, shops, attractions, etc. Service is good, restaurant not so good, but the convenience store is well provisioned.

« Last time we stay here . »

We have been coming to this hotel since 2005 so probably about 6 or 7 times at 2 weeks at a time so a lot of money we have spent this time will be the last tho which is such a shame , when you have been on a 9 hour flight a smile wouldn't go a miss when checking in , the guy that checked us in like it was to much trouble had a face as long as a fiddle , hotel itself great & clean well when the cleaners do clean the room about 4 days we went without our room being cleaned because funnily enough we are on holiday & don't want to be woken at 8am every morning for our room to be cleaned & even when we had been out all day & back at 5pm the room still hadn't been cleaned , just felt like the staff in general really didn't want to be there, was nice for the bell man to remember us & be helpful & polite just a shame a lot of your other staff let the place down so won't be wasting our money & coming ever again , maybe some training with the staff wouldn't go a miss because at the end of the day customers like me are the reason they are in a job & a smile doesn't cost anything :)

    « Stayed for a week »

I stayed here for a week and the hotel was absolutely amazing, I am not sure why so many others had bad experiences. The only reason I marked 4/5 instead of 5/5 was the restaurant. Their food was really good BUT the hotel charges you an extra 14$ for using the restaurant. In other words, You eat there, you pay there, give tip and then on top of that when you check out the hotel charges you 14$ for every time you ate there but they do not inform you this upon checking into the hotel. I stayed in a king suite and it was just absolutely amazing. So much room, great HBO channels, can even rent adult movies if you wanna spice things up with your partner. Great view of a small part of the city (7th floor) I highly recommend people to stay here! The hot tubs were so yummy as well. Be careful tho they have some wasps nest there. Something they should do something about!

    5
    « Outstanding Value »

Excellent value for the price. The hotel was very close to all the attractions. The hotel had a shuttle to the Universal Theme Park free of charge. The staff was wonderful upon arrival and friendly. The rooms were clean and nice. The beds were very soft and plush. The air conditioning worked wonderfully and kept the room very cold, which is very good for the hot climate in Florida. Excellent staff and accommodations. I would highly recommend this hotel.

« Great Deal, Great Location, Excellent Sleep »

If you are looking a clean, inexpensive hotel close to Universal Orlando Resort, the Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel is for you. We booked through Trip Advisor and got an amazing deal, well cheaper that any resort on Universal property. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was only thing that looked like it needed renovating-new floor tiles especially. The bathtub and shower curtain was super clean. (that is always items I look for in bathroom for cleanliness). Check-in was a breeze and the ladies at the check-in counter were so nice and helpful. The hotel is less than a quarter mile away from the Universal Orlando Resort parking garage. This was perfect for us since we were going to be spending most of the day and all of the night at Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights. It was really easy to leave the parking garage and head back to the hotel. We will definitely be staying at the Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel again.

    « Good location »

This hotell is nice and clean with friendly staff. Pricing is good, you get value for your money. Easy access to all attractions, shopping malls and the Airport. Free parking and an good priced all you can eat breakfast buffet.

    5
    « Nice and clean »

Out of our 4 visits to Orlando, this was the best hotel. Moderate prices, clean, friendly employees (Octavio at the restaurant is a star ??), great breakfast, convenient location, great amenities (we really enjoyed the pool area), complimentary toiletries (make sure to ask front desk if you happened to forget something, like I did) even the room service was reasonably priced. Only the bathroom set up was a problem in our room, door was kind of weird and if you open it, you may hit someone sitting on the toilet ??. And the color of the walls is yellow, what looks a bit outdated. I think if it would be white, it would give a room more modern and light appeal, to my personal taste. But overall very nice hotel, will definitely stay here again!

    « Wonderful stay! »

My coworker and I booked a stay at this hotel as we had received a certificate for a free night stay, we work at a hotel ourselves so we were a little skeptical but decided we wanted to take a trip to Disney so the hotel wouldn't really matter in the end if it was bad. When we checked in, which was very late due to being at the park, we were so very pleasantly surprised! The hotel was lovely, everything was clean and the night auditor Anna was an absolute delight every time we saw her! She was so professional and inviting that we agreed that this was going to be our hotel for future stays. On our second day there we went to the in house bar and the bartender was phenomenal, Cali, was so cheerful and sweet we absolutely loved her. The elevators were very fast, the rooms were very clean and the house keeper was incredibly sweet We definitely will be staying again!!

    « Exceeded My Expectations »

I don't have a single complaint about this hotel. Check in was very easy and pleasant; The night shift employee Anna was extremely helpful and super nice! Room was clean and great, was exactly what we needed after a long day at the parks. They have a deli and small market near the lobby area which was great for a quick late night snack. The bar there was open until midnight and the bartender Cali (who coincidently shares the same name as me) was fantastic! This Best Western definitely exceeded my expectations. I visit Orlando frequently for the parks and I look forward to returning to this hotel soon!

    5
    « Great Stay!! »

My daughter and I stayed there for three nights and everything and everyone was wonderful. The price was also right. We went specifically so that my daughter could enjoy a jacuzzi, which she did. The room was exceptionally clean and all the staff were very helpful with information about the area.

    3
    « Location »

My hubby and I have stayed here many times, must say there is a renew atmosphere overall. This hotel has a shuttle to and from Universal Studios. They sell tickets for Universal and have a help desk for you too! Laundry coin machines are of great help. The convenience store sells sandwiches, pizzas and many other snacks. You can enjoy a buffet breakfast at a good price at it's premises. Close to hop on the I Ride trolly to get around International Drive and the Premuim Outlets a must. Must say that the bathtub has a water issue ..water takes some time to drain. Otherwise I do recommend this hotel.

    « No. stay away !!!!! »

We stayed here before. No issues. So we stayed here again. Not so good. Bed was hard. Didn't sleep well. Ac stank like something rotting. They I guess tried to cover the smell with air freshener. Sorry it didn't work. The closet door fell off track. Elevator. Kept getting stuck. And was rattling. Soda machine on floor was unplugged so no drinks. Never again will we stay here.

    « Awesome stay »

Me and a friend were trying to find a hotel room last minute, and I'm glad we stumbled across this place. Jorge, Don and the young lady were so accommodating. The cookies were a nice touch! They were so hospitable, unlike the other property we were at. The beds were so comfortable and the room was very clean. The professionalism was excellent keep up the good work.

    - decent hotel for the price - cleaniness of hotel needs to be improved - great location to Parks - friendly staff - resourceful staff - secure parking area - comfortable bed - lighting of the room could improve

« Best of the Best Westerns »

As Florida Residents we visit Universal regularly throughout the year and this particular BW seems to consistently step things up a notch compared to similarly priced hotels in the area. Clean, comfortably sized rooms, convenient to Universal Studios, adequate gym, large pool and common area, quiet rooms with some that have doors leading straight onto the pool deck. Quietest rooms are on floors 7-8 near the north side. The pool is LARGE with two Jacuzzis and a sundeck set off to one side behind privacy fences. Pool towels and a shower are conveniently located near the shallow end pool; and, there are plenty of lounge chairs and tables to accommodate guests. Located walking distance to Universal Studios (although we seldom do) about a mile or so.

    3
    « Not impressed »

This is one of those hotels that nickels and dimes you to death. Want the bottled water they left in the room? Extra. Want the breakfast buffet? Extra. And on top of that, the room (301) had a very musty and damp smell coming from the air conditioner. The room was clean, it was just the smell that was offensive. The tub leaked around the bathroom door and apparently had been doing so for a while, so the bottom of the door and frame were rotted out and had just been painted over. One of the lamps in the room did not work. I'll skip this hotel on the next trip to Orlando.

« a place to worth visit to »

kindly people, I made checking 4 hours earlier and they gave me the room at that time without any problem, always ready to gave solution with a smile, very good location, very clean... excellent people...large lobby, laundry available, very good Wi-Fi. good swimming pool, very comfortable parking without extra charges.

« NOT Best Western Quality »

We stayed one night and then checked out and paid the penalty for early check-out. Arriving there early the reception was not very professional. We did arrive early in the morning as we checked out of our Disney resort and was off to Universal for the day. We asked if our luggage could be stored until our room was available. The Bellman already seemed like he had the weight of the world resting on his shoulders and asking him to store the luggage was just too much. With a huff and a puff he 'managed' to find space for our luggage in the luggage room. We really did not feel welcome at all. When we arrived back early evening there was someone else at the concierge desk. Extremely friendly and helpful. We had an option online to upgrade but were told our room was already upgraded. It was not, it was exactly the room we booked. The beds were extremely small Must be the smallest double beds you could possibly find. The mattresses and bedding was really lumpy and uncomfortable. As we were 4 booked into a room with two double beds it was really uncomfortable on those small beds. We asked for an extra single mattress. Had to rearrange the whole room to fit this mattress in. This mattress was also unfortunately very old or bad quality because it was almost like sleeping on the floor. When bringing up the issue of the beds they seemed to have a standard well rehearsed response. It's managements policy on beds and bedding. We decided to have our breakfast before checking out. The Dining room was dingy, the buffet area was dark and the kitchen really didn't look clean. Cutlery was also not clean. I will most certainly not recommend anyone book into this hotel if you are used to at least a 3 star hotel or have stayed in Best Western hotels in Europe. It is certainly not close to the same quality.

    3
    « Ok hotel. Friendly staff.Good breakfast. »

Quiet time of year so we had the pool to ourselves for a short while on some afternoons. Hotel was clean (if a little outdated in places). Breakfast was nice (not included in price). Evening meals were ok, you can get better on International Drive so only ate in once. I'd recommend walking to Universal; it's 20 minutes away so quicker than the coach. Isabelle in the booking office was lovely, she helped us book the Busch gardens coach and always friendly. $50-60 taxi to the airport (including tip). Able to print boarding passes in the hotel and they called the taxi back for us. Had the fire alarm go off on one of the days we were there. False alarm but the staff were nice about it.

    « Solid hotel »

Great room and bed. Great location for universal Lobby dated and check in slow but friendly. Was a hotwire blind pick so lucked out. Good food on restaurant and good waiter. Can't go wrong with this place of you get a good rate

    « BW Gateway »

Check in was nice and easy. They even let you specify a window of time you plan on arriving, which I thought was really nice. The room however, not so nice. The beds and the bathroom were both not clean. The staff was very friendly and we were greeted with "have a good evening" and "good morning" from every staff member we encountered. We mostly just had the issue with the cleanliness of the room. Disappointed with lack of complimentary services, i.e.- water or breakfast. Would not stay again.

    4
    « Perfect location near Universal Studio's »

This is our 4th visit in this hotel in this area. The location is great, Wet 'n Wild is a 5 minute walk and universal is a 20 minute walk. Shuttle is also available to go to the parks. Hotel is clean, but rooms could use some renovations. They were clean, but outdated. Housekeeping could be better. We h' stayed there for 14 nights, but shampoo, soap, etc... We're not replaced. We had to ask them at the desk, and did get them without any problem. We will go back

    4
« great place nice room was a surprise »

the hotel was a lot nicer then expected ...for the price it was exceptional...would highly recommend for cost effective stays aright across from wet and wild great for universal and not to far from the convention center

    3
    « Great staff »

I gave this hotel 3 stars purely based on the staff. Everyone was courteous and efficient. House keeping and the front desk went above and beyond to help and rectify. The hotel itself is located in a great spot for universal studios and wet n wild. But it is an old hotel. The elevators were scary. And our last day at the hotel the elevators were not in service. The a/c leaked water into the carpet and gave the room a smell of mildew. The bathroom was very small and the shower, just functional. They did have a second sink and mirror located outside the bathroom. That was useful. They have a microwave and fridge in the room. Everything was clean. Very clean. And the beds in great condition. Non of the vending machines in the floors worked.

    4
« Good hotel but could be better »

I stayed here for my trip to Universal Studios. The rooms were fine, however, the drain stoppers for the sink & tub in the bathroom did not work. The fan in bathroom also did not work well. The sink continued to fog up with use of fan. The pool was great, as was the hotel staff. We were there for Hurricane Matthew and the staff was great. All staff was in hotel during the hurricane was over Orlando. They kept watch over us until the hurricane left out area. Area to improve: have the small food court area open at 6 am. Could not buy any coffee in hotel until 7 am. No free coffee in the reception area.

    4
« Friendly and helpful staffs »

The bell boy and the check in staff who both on duty at the time of my arrival (on the 26th September 2016 approximately 12 noon), both individuals are extremely friendly and made my arrival feel very welcoming. And the other staffs are helpful too especially when I encountered problem with my key card.

    « Hurricane Matthew Hotel »

The hotel staff was wonderful. They allowed us to check in early due to the weather. The deli/market was open so that we could get some lunch since most area places were closed. The room was clean and comfortable.

« In walking distance to City Walk & Restaurants »

We stayed 4 days at this hotel for a conference and were impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. They even cheerfully made us a 3rd key when we locked ourselves out of our room with our keys inside. The conference room and meal service in the adjoining room were well equipped and well set up. The food served was healthy and delicious. It is located close to International Drive and all the restaurants there and to City Walk where we had a team building scavenger hunt. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!

    5
« Great stay, great location, great price »

We arrived at 12pm on Sun and room was ready. Check in/check out was a breeze. Hotel is nice with heated pool, 2 hot tubs and tennis courts etc. Great location, Easy walking distance to international Blvd. All of the staff very friendly and helpful. Onsite Restuarant with 4-7 happy hour. Lisa (one of the Bartends) is super nice, really enjoyed meeting her. Breakfast buffet had everything you needed. Didn't eat dinner but menu items did look good and a variety of items

« Near everything with friendly staff... »

Hotel room and beds were comfortable and clean... Staff was very helpful, When I called a few days before arrival to query about getting a room on the first floor near the entrance due to my wife's walking capacity... Was told that room was ALREADY taken care of and assigned... Check In and check Out with no problems... During my stay I had problem with my PC... Availability of Business center was saving grace... Also, fair number of handicap parking spaces near entrance was a plus... All in all, a better than OK stay at hotel which is near everything...

« Great Place for Price »

Older hotel but it was clean, staff was friendly and nice pool. Great price and only a short drive to Universal/Isle of Adventure. Handle on shower was not working right and neither was frig., but not bad enough to report either. Highly recommend this hotel for those on a budget.

« Really nice for the money! »

We were pleasantly surprised how nice the room was. It was also priced very well for what you get and how nice it is. Would definitely stay again! We had friends stay near by that paid twice as much for their room and ours was just as nice or nicer

« Great location and nice hotel »

Loved my overnight stay here and will definitely return. Located centrally in the Universal, International Drive and outlet mall areas, just off I-4 and Turnpike. Nice lobby area, free parking and gracious staff. My room was very clean, nice condition and quiet. Comfortable bed and good space. Looked out at night over Orlando Eye. So many restaurants, shopping and entertainment nearby. Got a great rate besides. Only issue was a/c a little hard to control and made louder noices partway through the night.

    « Comfort »

Visited this hotel back in 2013 and again this year have to say this hotel is well equipped for our needs. Rooms are modern and contemporary. Beds most definitely comfortable. Hotel reception and Bell boy ever so welcoming and considerate to our needs. Pool and facilities are adequate for a relaxing time. Would highly recommend this hotel to potential visitors and right on the doorstep to universal

We spend a lot of time at HHN at Universal, Orlando. This is our happy time! Our first choice for a place to stay is always the Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel, Orlando. We always have a good experience and the staff are exceptional. Junior, at the front, is always a pleasure to see and visit with.

    « left early »

checked in, was supposed to stay 4 nights, but left after 1 due to noise and very scantilly clad women in the lobby also there was no breakfast included. disappointing! Took awhile to check in and out as I kept being asked to wait while they called cabs for other guests.

« Excellent service and locale »

The staff at BW Orlando Gateway Hotel were exceptional employees. Everyone went out of their way to accommodate us. Our comfort and needs were met beyond our expectations, particularly because we got a room upgrade because of our BW platinum status! The on-site bar and restaurant had a great selection and was so easy after a busy day at Universal. The cafe has a nice selection of ready-made sandwiches, hot sandwiches, snacks and breakfast pick-ups.The area around the hotel is loaded with great restaurants and things to do. The bus service to Universal is a little tricky as you have to get boarding passes ahead of time. They are only available in the morning, so do look into this when you check-in. I got my passes at 7am to make sure I got on the 8:15 bus. The rooms and beds were very comfortable with the usual BW amenities: microwave, coffee pot, large flatscreen and refrigerator. Oh, there is a $4.50 a day charge for parking, USA Today and use of facilities which is a little unusual.

« The Best In Orlando area »

We have stayed many times at this hotel and have not had one bad experience from check-in to check-out ! The staff are all great. Rita is a stand out employee. We love walking in and seeing her at the front desk, with her wonderful smile. She genuinely loves her job and that shows in her appearance, attitude and knowledge of what she does. All of your front desk people are great. Rooms are clean and comfortable and they smell wonderful too !! Location to anything you need is fantastic, hotel restaurant has a great breakfast and dinner. You can print your boarding passes in the lobby on a large computer screen free of charge, which we found very helpful too. All in all, a great place to stay and the price is very good !!

« Surprising friendly and professional service »

People held the door open for us to enter and leave. Everyone treated us like we belonged and they wanted us to be happy. The lobby was clean and well-furnished. I did a photo shoot in it for my leather jacket business and no one bothered me or asked me why I was doing that. Awesome!

    « Just "okay" »

My rating for this property would be to say that it is simply "average", with the main emphasis being that the buildings and room simply looked a little tired, and worn out like a pair of shoes that have been used for a little longer than needed. I believe that a nice coat of paint throughout and minor repairs such as cracks in tile, drywall, etc. would go a long way to keeping the property at "average" to maybe above average. The positives to the property is that the location is very convenient and the staff were nice and accommodating.

    « Vacation Stay »

The hotel was nice and clean. The only issue I had was that the shower didn't drain. Free parking with your stay. It is a pretty close distance from Universal. There is a shuttle to and from Universal at certain times. They do have a restaurant in the hotel. Pool area was very nice.

    « Love This Hotel »

My daughter and I have stayed here 3 times now. The lady at the front desk on check in, she was so nice, gave us a room on the 8th floor, looking towards Universal and Wet n' Wild. We were there for 7 days. It's very clean, and the housekeeping staff give you lots of towels. I found everyone in the hotel very friendly, except on check out. There was a girl at the desk chatting with another staff member, just ignoring me. The guy at the desk was helping someone else and he kept looking over at her. She still didn't care. He did my check out, but wasn't too pleasant, as he was probably mad with her. But overall, I love this hotel! Will definitely go back. Oh yes, and the pool area is very nice too!

    « Quick weekend away. »

After looking for an average place to stay for 2 nights we decided to go here. I liked the security of the building having room key entrance on all doors and entry to rooms are inside not outside. It is an older building so it had a small musty smell. Room was clean & average, but the beds were small. Comfortable sheets and mattress helped have a decent sleep. TV was large but remote didn't work all the time on first try. All in all for average place to stay it was good.

« Okay for a one night stay »

We stayed at this property for one night and it was fine for just that one night for the price. Its surely not a Hilton property but its also not priced that way either. It was comfortable and I'm pretty tick.

« Pleasant, convenient, clean and friendly staff »

A very nice hotel, very clean and comfortable, the staff were friendly and the amenities were clean and of a good condition. The only fault I had was some water leakage into the room from the floor above / the roof drain. And the other guests slamming their doors at all hours, but that wasn't the hotels fault. The highlight of the stay however was the 'couple' in the a joining room going at it for all of 3 minutes (he's a stallion clearly), before he showered and went home to his wife. Maybe the adjoining room doors could be a bit more soundproofed, but it did provide some entertainment.

« Great Pool Area, ok hotel! »

Pros: Housekeeping staff were super friendly and helpful. The pool area was great- a huge pool, two different hot tubs at different temps, and a lounge area with a shelter. Great pool for sitting on the edge with legs in. Complimentary shuttle to universal was easy- but be aware that the last shuttle leaves at 11:10 in the morning and it's best if you reserve your spot the night before. We almost missed it! Con: We checked in at 3:30am due to a delayed flight and walked into someone elses room! Front desk apologized and gave us free breakfast passes for the next morning ($9.95) but it was super awkward with the man in the room who we disturbed. Fan in the bathroom was incredibly disturbing- so much so that we used the bathrooom without turning the light on as much as possible to keep it silent as the two were connected. The elevators were sketch, but I guess they did the job. There was an alarm sounding noise that went off all night the 3rd night of our stay out by the pond out back. My partner said it was just bugs but I didn't believe her. If you are a light sleeper, you might need a room that doesn't face the pond. Breakfast was only ok- I'd go to IHOP down the street before I went back to the hotel breakfast.

    « Nice Hotel »

This hotel is brilliant, the rooms are spacious, clean and modern. The room was cleaned every single day to a high standard. There is a small security deposit of $50 which is low in companion to other hotels. Free wifi which is also a benefit. Check in was smooth and simple.

« Truly an amazing trip! »

First off I have to say my trip was amazing for me and my partner! We got to the hotel early and was greeted by the very polite front desk associates named Eric and Antavia since we were early our room wasn't ready but Antavia let me know when it would be and Eric happily stored our luggage until the room was ready. While on vacation we dined at the restaurant located within the building and the food cooked by Barry was simply amazing he definitely knows what he is doing! (We recommend Mahi Mahi Tacos and the Salmon) Lisa our server for the evening was awesome she was very friendly and made sure to make our experience as perfect as possible! While at the hotel me and my partner were treated so well! The friendly staff and management team led by Jorge is truly outstanding! But let's not forget the pool with the amazing deck to tan on and the TWO hot tubs!?? I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a convenient location and a wonderful experience!

« Good location for Universal. »

Hotel was o great location for Universal and Wet 'n' Wild. TV didn't work despite maintenance coming up... then the phone didn't dial out so we gave up on the TVfor the 2 days. Rooms are very dated in appearance not modernised at all. smelled old too. they were clean. pool was ok size. Good location for premium outlets and malls.

« One of the best I've seen »

I was very pleasantly surprised how nice this hotel... especially for the price! The room (single King) was very spacious, well appointed, pleasantly decorated. Staff were very courteous and attentive. Location is convenient to the freeway and attractions, without being stuffed downtown somewhere. Only had one problem with a room service charge appearing on my bill at checkout. Staff fixed it and no further problems. This location should be a Best Western Plus.

    « Orlando trip »

Overall not a bad experience. Breakfast was quite alright also. Only one problem, they didn't tell us and we didn't ask but they charged us separately at the end for house keeping, which came as a surprise. Don't know who is to blame for that. Other wise the staff was very very friendly.

« Great location for Universal studios »

We have been staying in this hotel for the last 6 years whilst visiting Florida. This is in a excellent location for Universal Studio. They offer a free shuttle there and back but we often walk as it is only about 20 minute walk from Universal studios. There are lots of places to eat and drink near by. You can walk to International drive from here in 5 mins. We love Ponderosa for breakfast which is a short walk away to. Murphy's pub offers very cheap pitchers of lager to which is only 10 mins walk away to. The hotel staff are very friendly. Junior the bell man is always there with a smile. He always says welcome back as he knows we come back every year. This makes us laugh as he must see hundreds of people over a year yet remembers up. See you next year. Also the cleaners always clean our room every day and always say hello to.

    « Universal Trip »

Average hotel with excellent customer service. Arrived 4 hours earlier than check in time and was able to check in early. Room was adequate for price but a little cramped. Pillows are smaller than standard size so bring your own if possible. Room was damp/musty but Damp-Rid took care of it. Parking is extremely limited. Breakfast was nice but juice was watered down and tasted awful. Also host chased us out of breakfast area telling us we had to pay for it and we told him we turned in our tickets as we paid for the week. It was embarrassing and he never apologized. Only incident which never should have occurred.

    « Be Free »

If you want a comfortable room that is clean to just sleep and visit the parks then this is the hotel for you. Renovations are currently taking place in some areas of the hotel. The first impression of the hotel lets it down, together with the dreary colour scheme and carpet (which needs a steam clean and good hovering). It also needs a complete rewiring down on it. You are possibly wondering how is this very good. Well, the staff were extremely nice and will, and did go out of your their way to look after you and ensure you have a good stay. The atmosphere around the Hotel was very family orientated, where groups of families met and made the hotel their home. Close to amenities of International Drive and 2 minutes walk to Wet'n'Wild, 5 minutes to Universal Studios. I would not stay in this Hotel again for the only reason that it cannot facilitate for medical equipment, which is a shame. The A/C unit is no noiser than other 3star hotels.

    « Impressed »

Very nice hotel, especially for the price. Comfortable, interior corridor room, which is important in humid Florida. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. This was my first time and I just stayed one night for my birthday with my daughter. I hope to stay again next year and enjoy more of the amenities.

« Brilliant stay, such a great location »

Very friendly staff and a really helpful concierge. Check in was quick and easy. Just a 5 minute walk to International Drive and a 8-10 minute walk to Universal and Islands of Adventure. This was approximately $8 in a taxi. Rooms were large and clean. The adjoining restaurant served great breakfast for $10; an eat all you like style serving cooked breakfast, bagels, yoghurt and fruit. Staff were fabulous! Would highly recommend. We stayed two nights but this could easily be a base for a longer trip.

« Terrific Hotel, Priced Right, Wonderful Staff! »

I travel to Orlando often to visit with my daughter and grand children. I have stayed at many of the area mid priced hotels and find this property to be a great value. The hotel is clean, quiet and the staff is exceptionally attentive to the guests. I like this hotel so much I reserved a room there for my next visit in about two weeks.

« Great deal! Nice, clean, and close to Universal and Seaworld. »

You get more than what you pay for here. Our room was very nice and spacious and the facilities were clean and updated. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. You can't beat the location either. Universal Studios and Seaworld is just a few miles down the road and International Drive is only a mile away. Booking.com stated it had free breakfast, but it's actually $9.95, but you get a discount if you show your room key card. It's no biggie and the price was reasonable for all the food. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone.

« Good place to stay while visiting Universal studios. »

We stayed here 10 days in July to visit Disneyworld and Universal Studios. Overall, we were very pleased with the hotel: clean rooms, an in-room safe, big swimming pool with towels provided (and even a pool bar), okay breakfast with hot (and some healthy) options, friendly staff and a superb connection to Universal Studios with a free shuttle bus. For me it was definitely one of the finer Best Westerns I have ever stayed in. Some con's however: - It can be quite the hassle to get to Disneyworld as there is no easy public transportation option. If you don't have a car you'll probably need to rely on a taxi and it can add up quickly. - Very little shade by the poolside.

« Very nice hotel, but the front staff... »

I stayed at this hotel for one night and really enjoyed my stay. My room was clean and comfortable, the location is very convenient and the free wifi and parking were a plus. As for the reason I didn't give this hotel a perfect score - the woman at the front desk who was rude to me upon check in. I was not able to get her name, but after waiting in line for a few minutes, as I walked up to the counter she informed me that "Oh I'm not working anymore, my shift ends at 3, you're gonna have to go to one of the 2 other people here". Mind you, it was 3:15 PM and she was still helping people when I arrived and just seconds before I walked up to the counter, she assisted a woman who needed change for a $10. I told the receptionist that I wasn't a mind reader and asked how I was supposed to know her shift ended at 3, to which she said nothing while I walked over to the first line I was originally in and waited an extra amount of time to check-in. Not a good first impression to have when arriving to the hotel, extremely disappointed by the experience. I wasn't going to mention this since aside from this I enjoyed my stay, but I feel the actions of the employees reflect the establishment.

    « Ok stay »

Best Western is one of our go to hotel chains when we travel and are usually very satisfied. Our three night stay here was ok and in our opinion the location is a strong selling point. You are very close to the Universal theme parks and across the street from Wet n Wild. The front desk staff are also very friendly. The room was comfortable though we did have a few issues during our stay. The bathtub didn't drain properly and you would quickly get a pool building up when showering. Our closet door also had a tendency to pop off the tracks. And on one day, our room wasn't cleaned, though that was rectified pretty quickly after placing a call to the front desk. On the other hand, there is an in-room safe, which is something that we really like having for our valuables. Breakfast is available but not included in your stay. You can get a discount if your purchase them on the day of arrival but it can add up pretty quickly the more you are and the longer you stay. We are accustomed to having breakfast included when staying at a BW so we just assumed it would be. We ended up just buying some food from a grocery store for our stay and used the mini-fridge in the room to keep things cold. The pool area is quite nice, with plenty of chairs, tables and umbrellas as well as a couple of hot tubs. There is also a bar. Unfortunately (or fortunately for some), our room opened up to the pool area, so it was a bit louder and we always kept the curtains closed because we didn't want people looking in. We would have preferred a different floor but the hotel was full when we checked in. If you book your stay on points, keep in mind that the hotel charges a daily resort fee of $4.50 that you will pay when you check out. In principal I'm not a fun of resort fees. When they are mandatory, they should be included in the room rate in my opinion. As I mentioned, we had some issues with our room and missed the included breakfast that we are used to at BWs. But on the other hand, we didn't actually spend too much time in the hotel as we were out quite a bit. So overall, we had an ok stay.

    « Amazing Staff »

I selected this hotel because of the location and the size of the hotel. I do not like a large resort that is crowded. I was traveling with a child and this was just perfect for us. We stayed for 4 nights and had no problems. The staff member, Libby, was amazing. I contacted the hotel before arriving and wanted to come in a day earlier. It was booked full. I explained to Libby my situation and she took care of me. She was so sensitive to my needs and just made me feel special as a guest even before we arrived. This doesn't happen everywhere, as I do travel quite a bit. I never got to meet Libby, I missed her at the front desk. I do want this hotel to know what a great employee she is. Because of her kindness, if ever back in that area, I would definitely stay there and would not even consider staying anywhere else. The room was very fresh and clean. The size of the room was smaller than expected but it did have a small refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker. The standard size beds were very comfortable. (Queen beds would have been nicer) The only compliant I have is, the air conditioner was very loud. It kept the room cool but loud when it turned on and off. The sound did bother my grandson a lot. The room had a table and chairs, which was very nice but was next to the air conditioner and because it was blowing so cold, we had to turn the unit off when sitting there. The bathroom was on the small size but nice. We had plenty of towels, etc. The room had a safe, which was nice but was hard to get things in and out due to it being basically on the floor in the closet. Having the safe higher up would have been nice. When you enter the hotel, they had nice cold water with orange slices with ice, which was so nice to have, coming and going. The grounds were very clean. I felt very safe being there, especially traveling with a child. There were no loud noisy on our floor, so that was great. We didn't get a chance to try the pool, but it looked really nice. They also had tennis courts and a basketball court. Two hot tubs, and a sunning deck. Everything looked really nice......maybe next time. There was free parking for guests which is a plus if you are driving. We spent most of our time at Wet n Wild, which was about a 10 minute walk. So, it was nice to come back in the evening to our room.

We have stayed recently at the Bestern Orlando gateway , we were a party of 10 and we stayed in 3 double rooms. We requested to have adjacent rooms and we got them at check-in without any issues. We were very happy with the price , the amenities ( pool, basketball court, parking...) the breakfast was extra but delicious and the employees were very lovely . We stayed there while visiting Universal studios and were very happy with our choice. The management was great and fixed the little issues we had in no time. thanks for everything Isabelle

The hotel was in a great location being a 15min walk from Universal and Island of Adventure also International Drive. It was in a nice area with plenty of free parking. You can buy an all you can eat buffet breakfast for $11 onsite and the staff are lovely. There's also a snack shop open til late at night. The rooms are clean and up to date I'd definitely recommend a stay here.

« convenience of getting to Universal Studios »

It is very easy to get to Universal Studios and Wet & Wild Water Park. It.s also close to a lot of restaurants. The traffic around this hotel seems to be a lot less congested and not clumped together like other hotels in the area.

« What a great place to stay! »

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was great. We drove from Michigan, got in a couple of hours early and they checked us in right away(hours early) and had even complimentary upgraded our room because it was our anniversary. We even got a little welcome pack- chips, water, and a candy bar!! The room was a king suite- large, clean, and excellent view! (We had reserved just a standard room). We used the shuttle only once to Universal and it was okay- you have to secure a time slot the day before and there aren't many times back and forth- but that's really about Universal not the hotel. The room was made up daily, the lobby was clean- fresh water to drink while you're waiting, the pool area is large and always a spot for us to sit, two hot tubs- not real hot, but the weather was in the high 90s every day, a bar opens in the later afternoon by the pool, a small store that also has food to grab, there's even a tennis court and basketball court Towels are provided by the pool for your use. We loved our stay there. The staff were nice, it was clean, and only a mile from Universal- we walked there once. It's also right across from Wet n Wild water park. We came back one day from the park for a mid afternoon break and swim and the staff were able to suggest a good pizza place- Giordanos-delicious!! I would definitely stay again! We had room 849- the elevator rides were pretty quick too! And lots of carts to bring your stuff in and out of the hotel. This was great for two of us, but we could have easily had kids, as there was a pull out couch, and still had room without feeling we were on top of one another.

« Great stay, even added a night! »

My son and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was convenient to everywhere we wanted to go, the room was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of onsite options for my 12 year old son to stay occupied during our down time at the hotel. We enjoyed breakfast in the dining room and late night sandwiches at the snack bar. The pool area was very nice and had a poolside bar with a very nice attendant. We initially booked our stay for one night, but enjoyed it so much we elected to stay for another night as well. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and we enjoyed our stay very much. We will definitely return to this hotel!

    « excellent hotel »

we only stayed for 3 nights as we were travelling around Florida. We had thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this hotel. it is within walking distance to restaurants and shops. Rooms were basic motels rooms but were very clean, comfy beds. plenty of fresh towels and bedding changed each day. we were lucky to get a room that over looked the pool area via patio doors. pool was lovely and very clean. plenty of sun loungers & pool towels. Staff were really helpful and polite. we have been to Florida 13 times now and have stayed in lots of different types of accommodation over the years ranging from villas to Disney hotels but we would highly recommend this hotel for great value for money, location, cleanliness. On check in the lady on reception who sorted our room out was so nice and really helpful, cant remember her name but she was from Hollywood Florida, what a lovely person she was. And George the night manager was extremely helpful and arranged for us to have a late check out. We had breakfast once at the hotel which was fine but we prefer to eat out. Nice bar, overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Very clean hotel, convenient location on Universal Blvd, friendly and professional staff, great pool. Definitely well maintained property. Wish they included a free breakfast, but you can purchase for $7.50 per person the day before, I believe if you don't prepay, you'll be spending $15 per person. We highly recommend this hotel. We would visit again if opportunity arises.

Great stay at this hotel! I have been to this hotel twice now and it offers unreal value for money and the staff are very friendly. The door man is also really helpful and always sorted out taxis or gave us directions to our destinations. Would recommend to anyone going to Orlando.

    « Lovely stay »

Great location it is close to Universal, wet n wild, outlet malls and close to interstate 4. The rooms are newly renovated but the structure is a old hotel. The price was a great value and i would recommend this hotel to anyone on a budget.

    « Great Location »

We were visiting our daughter in Orlando for 10 days and stayed here. Right across the road you have wet n wild. About 2km is universal studios and the premium outlets. Plenty of places to eat in the area and there's a restaurant at the hotel. We didn't have time to eat here. The pool area was really nice and the staff were very friendly. The rooms were clean and the wifi was a little dodgy at times. If you're wanting to go to Walt Disney World it's about 20kms from this hotel but if you have a car it's easy to drive or the hotel offers a shuttle service. Very reasonable price for a hotel in Orlando where they can be quite expensive.

good place, the shower didnt work in #603. Didnt report the problem due to the fact my partner and I were only staying a night we unexpectedly extended our stay and they told us the room needed new furniture and they updated us to a king suite. which was all swell. and we appreciate the kindness.

« Nice hotel and close to parks »

We usually take advantage of staying on site at Universal Studios Orlando in order to get the Fast Passes... However, this visit our flight was coming in a little too late and we couldn't stomach paying top prices for only a little while in the resort so we opted to stay here for the first night. We were pleasantly surprised. Each room had a mini fridge, coffee machine, and microwave. The bathroom was spacious and there was plenty of room on the counter for makeup, toiletries, etc. We also liked having an additional sink on the outside of the bathroom so others can get ready, brush their teeth etc. while someone else is using the shower. The room was clean and tidy. The only negative was that the room had a bit of a smell. Not a foul smell... just not a clean smell. The hotel does offer courtesy shuttle to the parks; however, since we were transferring to an onsite hotel and we had plenty of luggage we used Uber. The price was $6 to the onsite hotel since it is so close to the parks. Overall, nice hotel, beds were comfortable, it's close to parks, and offers free shuttles... we would stay here again.

« Not really what i was expecting »

Knowing very well this chain, we decided to go there while in Orlando. Staff and overall check in experience were simply fabulous... the rest really poor in terms of user experience: pool was crowded and we no control so a lot of people jumping into the pool, other smoking (in a non smoking area) and rest of food here and there hotel needs a real refresh rooms, despite spacious, are really noisy I'm really sorry giving this feed-back, especially being a lover of this family chain

The hotel was very nice and bigger than we expected. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We had a nice view from the 6th floor room windows. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The hotel is in a great location-super close to Universal, Wet N Wild and International Drive but quiet enough to relax and enjoy.

    « Excellent Stay/Value »

This was our first trip to Orlando Florida. We wanted to stay as close to the main attractions as much as possible. Best Western was definitely the prime location to everything we needed. The hotel amenities were decent, but didn't really make full use of it as we were mainly there for Universal and Walt Disney attraction. The rooms and service was excellent, no complaints. The staff was very friendly and accommodating to our request. I do want to point out that even though we arrived extremely early before check in time 3:00pm, the lady at the front desk was kind enough to sign us up for their free Loyalty Program and it allowed us to check in early. I thought that was very nice of her to go out of her way to accommodate us. Definitely a great value and excellent location for tourist to get to and from all the main destinations. We did rent a car while we were there, but we always managed to get parking. Parking is free! I would not recommend the breakfast even though it is all you can eat. You could spend the same price and have a tastier meal at an IHOPS which is just less than 10 minute walk from the hotel. There is a 24/7 Walgreens close by which you can stock up on snacks, water. Overall, it was a very pleasant stay at the Best Western and I would highly recommend this place.

Very clean hotel. Attentive personnel. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. The breakfast buffet was excellent, great variety of food and juices!! Near major attractions. Stay only one night, but will stay there again!!

    « Excellent hotel. »

Everything was perfect. I arrive the last july 17. I was there with my family for one day. The lady of front dest was very kind and help me a lot. I can only say the hotel was perfect. I recommend this hotel in trip advisor.

my stay was perfect. the staff were most accommodating to my every concern and needs. Eric, Dianna, the other nice daytime lady and even Jherusa all went out of their way to find me a Corkscrew. too bad the night staff could not offer to help me pop the cork, she was apologetic but could not help me. I would give a 10, but I could not get access to a corkscrew during the night hours. I was not aware there is a charge for breakfast, hence, I did not pay for the first two mornings. I did offer to pay the third morning.

    « Loved it! »

My boyfriend and I recently stayed and all I Can say is EXCELLENT customer service. From the moment we got there we felt taken care of! We were there about 4 days and the front desk was extra helpful especially a young man called Angel. We will defiantly come back on our next trip ! Ps the rooms are awesome and close to the Parks...can't get better than that.

    « Worst service »

The hotel in it self is okay. Good location and good rooms. Our room smelled a bit of smoke, but the staff working in the reception were so unfriendly we did not bother to tell them. The staff working around the hotel, cleaning and stuff is superb. So friendly and nice. They should be the ones working at the front desk instead. Upon check-in and check-out we were welcomed by sour faces and we just felt like we bothered them by showing up. They charge a $50 deposit but no one informed us of that. We saw that later on a note hanging on the other side of the reception from where we checked in. When asking questions you just feel stupid because of the way they look at you. Just a terrible experience when it comes to the service!

« Very friendly international staff »

I was traveling on business and felt lucky to get a room at a reasonable rate. I used the super shuttle to get there. Short wait to check in. My room was clean, had iron, ironing table, in closet safe, charging outlets on bed side lamp, clock radio, free wifi, extra sink outside the bathroom. The ac was good. I think the bathroom fan was out of order, which I mentioned at checkout. There was a limited room service menu, but the food was good. Room had a microwave and fridge, where I eventually stored water from Walgreens, which is out of sight, but 1/3 of a mile down the street. I didn't check out the pool. The place had a lot of guests on vacations. My room was quiet. I know I have paid a lot more for the amenities this room had. Loved the free wifi because I killed a lot of time on the Internet. Also the hotel has a green laundry policy, where they don't change sheets unless you ask. Room was not huge, had 2 double beds. Big windows with a view. I bought a trolley pass and used it several times and the When is the next trolley coming app.

    « Great location »

Great location. Easy access to Universal. Pool was nice. Every staff member encountered was pleasant and helpful. Room was clean. Outdated but everything worked. Our ac was lacking but we didn't say anything since we were out most of the time. Breakfast was decent for $8 per person. Easy late check in and easy checkout. Nice view. Elevator sounded like it needed some maintenance but that's all. Would stay again.

Location was great, everyone was friendly, the pool was wonderful. There was plenty of parking .Being a smoker our room was on the third floor and the young girl at the front desk moved us to a smaller room on the first floor and also got us a discount for the smaller room. We were totally satisfied!

    « Ok »

We had planed on getting to the hotel around 6 but with flight delays we got there at 3am, when we got there the hotel the gentleman kept telling us he was booked and we had the wrong hotel. Thank goodness my mom found our reservation number someone earlier had checked us in and didn't inform him. He then told us about the shuttle, what he forgot to tell us to get there early so we can get tix, we needed up getting on the bus someone gave up the tix. He was a turd and his customer service skills suck. We had a double bed one bed was broken and ice machines on our level were broken to. Room needed some tlc. I did think the other workers were nice and we're kind and kind and helpful. They are the reason for the 3 star!

« Love the Best Western »

Excellent rooms, wonderful staff the only thing I would say is that there should be free continental breakfast. Other than that I would absolutely come back to this hotel and recommend it to others (HOWEVER DO NOT STAY AT THE BEST WESTERN IN COCOA BEACH--THIS SHOULD NOT BE A BW HOTEL--UNLESS OF COURSE YOU DON'T MIND EXTRA CREAPY CRAWLING GUESTS!!!) BUT ORLANDO IS FABULOUS!!!!

it was in a really good location. staff was helpful. It is clean and restaurant is decent. close to I-Drive and right near universal and wet-n-wild. its not a big hotel, but had a decent size pool. bar outside is small; wish it was bigger. rooms are a decent size and have a mini fridge inside and a microwave, but no plates or forks. you will have to buy your own.

« Great place to stay for a girls weekend to Universal Studios »

The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Plus - it was so close to Universal Studios which was the best thing about it. It was only a $5 uber ride (Or a free hotel shuttle) to the parks! The pool was nice too, and they had a pool bar with yummy pina coladas.

    « Dated but Adequate »

Dated interior but comfortable nonetheless. Disinterestd breakfast staff. Strangers could walk in and put flyers under your door. Security needs to be beefed up. Good wifi and TV. Good AC. Breakfast wasnt too bad. Centrally located between Orlando outlets, bass pro shop and disney springs. On the trolley route. Nice clean pool.

« Great place with a GREAT location. »

The BEST thing about this hotel is the location. Second best thing: everything works. The only thing that we didn't enjoy was the couch under the roof at the pool. The light in that area didn't work. The carpet was kind of smelly. Seems like it was an abandoned part of the hotel... Maybe just one person to handle this are?

    5
    « Perfect location »

My man and I stayed 3 nights here and loved it. The price is very affordable. The location is ideal for Disney goers. The free shutter service has at least a 45 minute wait therefore you should request in advance. The pool and exercise area was clean, wide open and easily accessible. The staff offered superb service and our room was very cozy. My family and I plan on visiting again very soon.

« Once again, a flawless stay, in great thanks to Corey! »

Seems I'm writing often about this place, but it's become my go-to stay for Orlando. Everything is on par as it has been for the past few stays--wonderful staff, clean rooms, quiet stays, amazing views, great food--but there was one more aspect this time that I have to give big thanks to. We checked in around 3pm and had a west-facing room (great view of the lake and I-Drive). The room was very warm and the AC was working overtime. We left for a while, thinking it was just the heat of the day and it would eventually cool down after sunset. We came back and it was just as warm still, so I tried turning the unit off to thaw any ice inside, no go. Finally around 9pm I gave in an called the front desk about it and they said a service man would be on the way. Approximately 3 minutes after the call he shows up, gets the unit running, but says if there are any more problems to call the desk again and he'll bring up a new unit. About a half an hour later it conks out again, so I call, and he arrives with a brand new unit (like just unwrapped, never used from the looks of it), removes the old, installs the new, all within about 5 minutes, and for the rest of the stay the room was a perfect icebox. The guy was really nice and very accommodating. Thank you so much, COREY--give that man a raise! Just another reason I love this place. I've been staying here since on and off since 1984, and currently it's my top choice. If you want to read more about it, check out my previous reviews.

    « Universal »

Great location. Good value. Safe area. No complimentary breakfast provided. Close to freeway, shopping, dining, and amusement parks. Not enough parking. Don't come back late on the weekend or you may not have a place to park.

« Good value for being so close to i-drive »

I stayed here because the price was reasonable, and the hotel was very close to the attraction I wanted to visit. The hotel is in walking distance to Wet n Wild, and 5 minute drive from Universal. A shuttle is available to Universal also. My room was on the top floor with a view of the water park (if I craned my neck). room was quiet, and the AC worked well, once I moved one of the chairs away from the table to let the air flow. Breakfast is NOT included in the room rate, but you can purchase vouchers when you check in which cost two dollars less than the normal price of the breakfast buffet at the in hotel restaurant. ($8 instead of $10). I do not know the value of this compared to area breakfast buffets. All in all a good experience.

    « Better than expected. »

Pleasantly surprised. The staff was very nice and courteous. The hotel did have a perfumed smell when you first walked in but then it is a little older but well kept. We enjoyed the breakfast and it was a good deal for the price. We were close to Universal City Walk just a $6 uber ride! The pool was great and the area was kept super clean. The rooms were nice, just wish they had queen size beds and not full.

    4
    « Attention to detail! »

We loved the staff at this hotel, the night manager and the check-in staff were friendly, joyous and super helpful! Room was very clean and we loved the swan and basket made out of towels in our room! The only reason I am giving this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because the beds were Full instead of Queen and it is slightly dated.

    4
« Nice and close to attractions »

Clean room and friendly staff.Close to Sea World,Universal parks and various places to eat.Close to Interstate.Breakfast buffet was good. The shuttle cost as much or more to get to the park as it did to park your car so you were better off driving your car.

    « Friendlies Hotal I've Stayed In »

Asked for an early check-in of 10:30 which they graciously gave me. The front desk staff was so friendly, helpful & very accommodating. She didn't charge me extra for the request & the hotel gave it a priority cleaning so it was ready for us. Maids were still in the room very apologetic for still being there & again very friendly. The room had a great view, was very comfortable & the price was so reasonable for the two of us. Had some trouble getting cold water out of the bathroom fixtures but only reported it when we left. I would recommend this hotel to anyone & would stay again next time I"m in Orlando. Breakfast was reasonable & delicious with a variety of foods.

« Old hotel, but Ok »

Pretty old hotel but it was ok, can't complain considering the price Paid. I stayed in a double bed room and the only strange thing were the pillows because the hotel uses 3 very unconfortable half size pillows in each bed. The common areas were pretty old and Next time I may pay a little more for a courtyard or something like it.

« Nice Universal Partner Hotel with excellent service »

We stayed two nights at the Gateway location and will definitely be back. This hotel had everything we could have wanted - clean updated rooms, laundry facility, a snack bar/coffee shop, basketball court for our kids, large pool with pool attendants, free shuttle to the park, good security and wonderful customer service. We had a special request to freeze something and the manager was very helpful to let us use the hotel freezer. As a Universal Partner hotel, we were also able to get into the park one hour early, which gave us a great start to the day! We can't wait to come back!

Nice room, but AC leaked a lot and got my father's whole duffel bag wet (all his clothes were soaked)...hairdryer was fritzy, too. Nice fitness center and good room set up (2 sinks)! Decent price for one night for 4 adults! Clean and a great pool! :)

« they gave my room to someone else because they felt like it !! horrible staff !! »

I will try to make the story short. I made my reservation back on February, for Memorial Day weekend, I'm from Costa Rica and I knew it was going to be packed that's why I booked so many days in advance. Turns out I was victim of fraud and had to change the credit card number I made the reservation with so if I did a late arrival to the hotel (which I was going to do because of the long drive from Miami to Orlando) they were not going to be able to bill my credit card and I might lose my reservation. Foreseeing this might happen I called the hotel, provided my new credit card number and they said that my reservation was fine and dandy. That wasn't the case when I arrived at 10:00 pm that night. They were two people at the front desk, a girl and a guy, as soon as I gave my name to the lady in the counter she looked at the guy like saying: "he did show up", the guy said at 6:00 pm he tried to bill my new credit for $1 and it didn't go through (I'm still wondering why he tried to bill me for $1 if hotels charge you for the 1st night immediately if you do a late arrival), the funny thing is that I used that same credit card at 5:30 pm in a restaurant in Miami for $50 and in was accepted. If they had this inconvenience with the credit card why didn't they call me to verify the credit card number or to ask me for another credit card ??, easy, it was Memorial Day Weekend and they gave my room to someone else..., the guy noticed I was latin and tried foolishly to talk to me in spanish (a touch of cheap psychology which made me even more angry) at the end all they did was to recommend another hotel and that was it... horrible customer service !!

« An ageing yet nice hotel »

Our stay at the hotel was good. But it's an ageing hotel. Needs some revamping. The ACs are a bit too loud and believe me can wake you a couple of times even when you are sleeping dead tired after a fabulous day at one of the resorts. The staff is helpful but I felt were lacking the enthusiasm which I saw at many other places. Overall still a nice stay.

    4
« VERY CLOSE TO UNIVERSAL STUDIOS »

We did not have to use the shuttle service to go to Universal Studios since it came every hour starting at 0710 am. There is an I-ride service near the hotel, which is basically a bus that stops at all major attractions. We just went out of the hotel at our leisure time, took the bus to stop G4, and walked to Universal Studios. The hotel is accessible to all major attractions, and is close to restaurants and grocery stores. Overall we loved our stay.

    « Reasonable Hotel »

I stayed in this hotel for a month, service was very good, room is clean. Just make sure you don't eat breakfast there (it's not included) and it is not a good experience. Every one is friendly there, the location is good, fairly close from all attractions, and across the street from wet n wild water park. It 's in Central Florida, every place is about 20 minutes away. Will definitely stay there again.

Reception staff friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious with what appeared to be new furnishings I'd bedding, towels and curtains. A fridge and microwave present also. Breakfast was included in the price and this was fine. It is in easy walking distance of Universal Studios and Wet and wild . There are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity. We did not use the pool area but it looked nice with plenty of sun beds Do not forget when booking that there are taxes to be added on to the room rate

« Excellent front desk staff and comfortable room »

We arrived early in the day before heading to Universal Studios. The front desk clerk said she could get us into our rooms hours before normal check in if we signed up for their rewards program. We really appreciated being able to leave our luggage there before spending all day and part of the night at the theme park. My husband and I had adjoining rooms with his father and the rooms were very spacious. Having booked it on Hotels.com or some such site we actually ended up with 2 double beds in our room, which we thought was funny. We knew we'd be so exhausted from the park that we didn't even try to switch to a king bed room. The bathroom was very nicely arranged with lots of sparkling appliances and very clean. The room had a large fridge we could use as well as a microwave. We paid for breakfast but got a refund. The reason we got a refund is that in the middle of the night the smoke detector low-battery alarm started beeping. I called the front desk three different ways and nobody answered. I made my husband go down with me since I was mad that it was 3am and we were wide awake! The woman at the desk had no explanation for why no one answered the phone, and sent the night security guard to look for batteries. When they couldn't find any he just took the old one out of the smoke detector and that stopped the noise. In the morning the same front desk clerk from the day before was there and when she heard what had happened she apologized about thirty five times and gave us free breakfast vouchers. She tried to give us one for my father in law too, even though he was in the other room and didn't wake up! He'd already eaten and paid though. The shuttles to the park are a bit confusing, they don't leave all day, and you have to get a ticket from the park representatives unless you are taking it back to the hotel at a certain time at night. We ended up using Uber to get to the park both days and took the shuttle back the first night. It's nice and free, a comfortable ride, but it's restricted in when it leaves and they only give out a certain number of tickets for the shuttle each day. The un-ticketed times you don't need one and that's when we ended up using it to come back. Confused? So were we!

« Great hotel for visit Universal »

We found this great hotel for our visit to Universal. The hotel offers a free shuttle to Universal (15 minutes ride), although you can also easiliy walk to Universal (1 mile). Very friendly staff, big rooms with good queen beds and there is an excellent breakfast; if you pay in advance it will only cost $7 ! There is also a large poolside with poolbar and lots of free parking space. Overall this Best Western is very good value for money. We would definitely recommend.

    « Great »

Hotel was pretty great. I thought I got more for the price I paid. Only down side, you have to pay for breakfast. Other was we had a slight ant problem, but that got fixed within 10 minutes. Great staff and fast help. I would stay at this hotel again.

« Old and beat down »

The hotel is priced cheaply so I didn't expect the taj mahal. But it was pretty bad. Room didn't appear clean and there was a science project in the mini fridge. I went to put some water in it and the food that ws in there had to have been in there for weeks. Which means they didn't even attempt to clean it in weeks. Just need a place to sleep for the night before we started our vacation at Universal so the location was great. The girl working at the bar was fantastic. She was the bartender, server, bar back, cook and still made great conversation. She should work in a much better place. I wish I could remember her name. Anyway it was inexpensive, but probably could do better for same price. I did tell them about the wonders of the fridge upon checkout so the next guest would not have the same surprise. They did offer us comped breakfast, but we just wanted to get to universal.

    « Great budget hotel »

We enjoyed our stay at best western orlando gateway. I would like to talk about cons first then I will go with the pros (because there are a lot of good things). The room smelled a bit funny when we walked in and sadly there were no king bed at this hotel (as we were told) so my husband and I slept on the same small bed for 3 nights. I think the hotel should allow guests to request to put 2 beds together. The wifi internet was not stable, sometimes it was very fast, sometimes very slow. Good things we love about this hotel is location, it is so close to Universal Studios where we planned to go. We walked back to the hotel one night and it was great. There are also free shuttles going there and back. The breakfast is superb, variety of choices. The receptionist/front desk were so kind and has service-minded. The pool was good. We were happy there.

    4
« great price, great hotel »

Could not believe how inexpensive this hotel was! We used the refrigerator and made breakfast in our room. Very economical way to see Universal...just remember you need a ticket to ride the shuttle or you will be making the 1.3 mile hike to the park:)

« Allowed our larger dogs »

I struggled finding a hotel to accept our large, well behaved dogs. This hotel accepted them no problem and did not hassle us at all. Again, I have well behaved dogs. The hotel is old but is very well kept up. The pool was clean and the outside grounds were too. We stayed in a suite to have plenty of room for the dogs and our family of 3....it worked well. We will come back for sure.

« Affordable with shuttle to Universal Studios »

My girlfriend and I made our first trip to Universal Studios this past March and the trip was affordable thanks to Best Western. The pool and hot tubs were great after a long day in sun and walking around. We appreciated the staff answering all of our questions on getting to and from the park. During this nonpeak season it was quite but would recommend it for families or couples looking for an affordable hotel that is clean and reliable in their service.

    « More like a motel »

Good points: King Bed was excellent, with good linens. Room maids, did their best, friendly. Bad points: needs management to rethink the hotel. 1. Far far too much air freshener. Stings the eyes and skin. What smell are they trying to hide in both bedrooms and reception space? Don't these guys know it degrades to form formaldehyde, giving respiratory problems and worse? 2. No table at all for a laptop. 3. None of the power sockets worked without wedging something in the socket. My adapters worked in all the other US hotels, but not at this Best Western. 3. VERY noisy air-con, of a type common to motels. 4. Colours of fawn/brownish walls, oppressive. Why not try light colours or the magnolia most better hotels use? 5. Breakfast very basic. Other than scrambled egg, no tomatoes, no veg, rest very high sugar content carbs, even oatmeal had a cup of sugar. After paying for breakfast, found what was there, so went down the road to a cafe.

    « quick overnight »

We were in Orlando for a quick overnight while looking at homes to buy in the area. Location was good for freeway access, restaurants and facilities. We weren't vacationing so we didn't go anywhere else. We frequently come to the Disney properties. This hotel, while adequate was a bit dated and not a Great value but fairly priced. Great staff and reaction to fixing a maintenance issue was swift and pleasant. Overall, a pleasant stay.

    « Overall an A- »

Very nice hotel just 5 minutes (direct--on the same road) to Universal Studio/IOA. It was about 25 minutes to WDW. Reasonably comfortable and large room. The internet was slow to non-existent but nothing I thought to report as it often happens. The restaurant (dinner) was excellent (food prepared when ordered and done with care and expertise--salmon salad) and not just because we ate theme park food for lunch. The desk even called to check on the room later the first night. Unfortunately, we had not discovered that our safe was locked until we attempted to use it in the morning. Engineering was called but didn't show before we left. We took our valuables with us. The safe was still locked when we returned. That was the only issue. We were on the 6th floor and heard quite a bit of jumping/thumping (sounded like little kids) from the 7th floor until nearly midnight. Why bother reporting it? Other than that, the room was fairly quiet. We got a great rate and would stay there again. The room was very clean and housekeepers benefited from that!

    3
« Clean, reasonably priced hotel »

Very convenient to all the attractions and restaurants. The rooms and bathrooms are very standard, but the beds and pillows allow for a good night's sleep. The beds appear to be double beds, so don't know how comfortable a family would be in one room. I was here for a conference and it was fine for me. Restaurant and snack store in lobby. One of the people traveling with me said he heard a dog barking in the room next to his -- don't know if the hotel allows pets or if the dog was snuck in with the luggage. May want to confirm a "non pet" room/floor if you have allergies.

« great staff, good deal »

we were met by friendly efficient staff who were great throughout the trip. Anapais(?) I think her name was, was phenomenal! The hotel was clean and well located. The only thing I dint like was the lack of any help getting to Disneyland as rhey were so interested in selling time shares, they refused to help my daughter and i get alternative transportation

« Value stay with good quality »

Very comfortable stay, easy check in, helpful tourist tips from the lobby desk and with standard rooms coming at a very conformable layout. The property looks old and there is a faint ageing smell in the room however it does not linger. The toilets were clean, beds very comfortable and impeccable room service. Close to all attractions and centrally located. 15 to 20 min drive from the airport. Definitely recommend.

    « Very nice hotel! »

This is a very nice hotel. Very reasonably priced. Very close to Universal Studios. Room was lovely and clean. We ate at the hotel restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Good food and the wait staff was very friendly.

    « Enjoyed. My stay »

When I first arrived their was a mix up with my room, took 15 for it to be fixed and complimentary breakfast voucher was. given.. Staff are extremely helpful and friendly, location is great. Enjoyed the convenience of restaurant and store ...

    « Great experience »

One of the best hotel experience I have had. Since I traveled for a living for 33 years, I know hotels and expect the best, and this was the best. Parking was free for guests, lobby was spacious and inviting, room had two double beds, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, iron and board, free internet, large screen flat television, nice view of the pool, Jacuzzi, tennis court and basketball court, and very close to all parks. Would definitely go back.

« Not the Very Best, but Great Hotel »

Great Hotel for a few days in Orlando, near everything, you need Always a car in the US to go from A to Z, great breakfast, clean rooms and spacieous, very friendly staff. It was more than the Best Western Plus Quality

    « Decent Hotel »

Decent hotel for the price in Orlando during spring season. Rooms were clean and staff was friendly. Our water was not working properly in the bathroom (temperature control) and we reported it in the morning but nobody came to fix until we reported again when we returned at 9:30pm. But then they came immediately and it was repaired in minutes. Minor misunderstanding. Breakfast was decent and kids 9 and under ate free, which was nice.

    4
    « Great Service »

The people are very friendly and professional. Who we dealt with was prepared to offer information on any questions we may have during our stay and anticipated what those questions may be, and was genuine in his customer service.

« Good value with basic facilities »

Rooms are ok, most of the staff are un-professional. Location is 10mins driving to the CBD, so you should rent a car/use uber if you wanna enjoy your stay and go around Orlando. They did maintenance in my room, so I came back to find a smelly room and the carpet on the floor is wet. I called the reception and they provided big ventilator but very noisy to dry the floor. I think there are more hotels better to stay than this one. Cheers - A

    « A classic ordinary hotel »

It was a pleasant hotel, nothing to complain about, but nothing exceptional to remember. The receptionist was very attentive and helpful. The room was quite spacious, clean and comfortable. The brakfast area is big enough and selection ok. We also ate dinner at the restaurant and the food was good. There is quite a big pool, two hot tubs and sunbathing chairs. Hotel has free shuttle bus to Universal Studios. I would stay there again if I was in Orlando.

« Ok hotel, though not secure »

Rooms were okay, nothing to write home about. Back door off hotel was not secure about half of the time. Pizza leaflets (3-4) under the guest room doors once, sometimes twice, a day. Breakfast staff rude.

    2
    « Old hotel »

We booked a room last minute and we didn't need much. Check in was smooth. Although the hotel was old it appeared clean. The downside: A VERY SLOW shower drain. Water leaking from a ceiling vent and only hot water coming from the sink faucets. We had had a long day at Aquatica and not having drinking water was an issue. We had to purchase water.

« second time here. good star »

we were here April 6 to the 10. this was my second time staying here. traveling with kids age 23, 25, 28 and grad kids age 8, 5 and 2. we had 2 rooms. the rooms were clean and enough space for us. pool area was nice. beds were ok, not the greatest but not the worst. the hotel has a restaurant in it but the menu is very small. we did not eat breakfast here. we were here for universal. you can walk...takes about 20 minutes. however at the end of the day that can be a lot for the little ones but a cab is only $10 including tip. i did not have an issue with parking but i did see it get quite full. i did talk to a security guard one night and he said parking can turn into a nightmare after 10 or so. great value for the money. overall we had a good stay and would stay here again.

« All Was Great Until.... »

Everything about the hotel was very good or better....until I saw and killed a 2" cockroach near my bed the first morning. That alone really dropped my overall rating. The night manager when I checked in was very outgoing and friendly making me feel very welcome. Gave a fantastic recommendation for a steak dinner.

« Second and last time here. »

We came to BW Orlando Gateway in October 2014 and we liked it so much we decided to stay again this month (April 2016) during our honeymoon. Like I said in my first review, this hotel's location can't be beat. However, I will not stay again. We payed for a suite, this because our original reservation for a King bed was ignored and we were given a standard double, after talking and explaining to front desk we were told that the only other room available was a suite for $15 more a night and we'd have to check out Friday instead of Saturday because they were "booked solid". Long story short, during the time my hisband and I were discussing options in the lobby a suite "freed up" allowing us to stay at the hotel for the duration of our stay in Orlando. We booked the suite for $15 more, it comes with a small kitchenette, sofa and table. The sofa was so dirty and gray (original color maroon I believe) that we never sat on it and used it for our luggage. The bathtub never drained well so you had to take a quick shower before the water was halfway through your legs. The towels were very dry and "tough", it felt like drying yourself with sandpaper. The door to the toilet/bathtub didn't close well and even if you "locked" it, you could easily open it. Our sheets were never changed, I bled from a razor cut and stained the sheets (sorry, it happens), this stain remained with us for 4 days. This leaves a lot to be desired from a hotel, cleanliness is the most important factor for us. I mean, to think of what else wasn't changed? Or if the sheets were even changed before we got there? Sure we don't want to think that but we wonder given the circumstances. The amount of pizza menus shoved through your door is beyond annoying. The hotel gives you a paper informing that they do not sponsor nor recommend ordering from these places. Wonderful, how about doing something to STOP this? Better surveillance or requiring your room key to use the elevators? My husband and I were so annoyed we would place them in the hall. Again, the location can't be beat. But they really need to rennovate and clean better. I stayed in hotels in the early 00's that looked more modern than this. Oh, I asked for extra towels one night (had to go to the lobby in pijamas because the phone didn't work).... Got extra pillows instead of towels. Not staying again and do not recommend.

    « Value for money »

Value for money. Breakfast was good Not to expect more since hotel is old and does not have renovated rooms. Sleep quality was good and privacy was taken care off. Expect to have laundry room for guest.

    « Delightful Stay »

he Best Western Orlando Gateway hotel was our choice for a quick Universal vacation for a few reasons: free parking, free WiFi, free shuttle to Universal Studios, and, of course, a great price point. However, we were very pleased with the condition and cleanliness of the room and the view of, and proximity to, many parks, particularly Universal Studios. The service and staff were excellent! The room was always fresh and seemed newly updated, the staff was beyond friendly, and I even got a birthday card and treat signed by the staff. We will absolutely return to this hotel on our next trip to Orlando.

    « A great find near Universal »

My boyfriend and I usually get an annual pass to Universal Studios. When we went up to renew a couple weekends ago he had arranged for us to stay at a beautiful resort! When we arrived at the resort it was not so beautiful and came with a requirement for both people staying there to attend a mandatory two hour timeshare presentation!! I was furious! He got us out of the commitment since it looked nothing like the photos and he was unaware of he 2 hour requirement smack in the middle of the day, but now we were left in the predicament of no place to stay! I went on a last-minute Travel website and most of the hotels listed were booked! I finally decided since I had stayed at Best Westerns around the country and always found them to be affordable, clean and comfortable I was going to take charge and book a room. Well the BW Gateway will now be our new favorite hotel when going to the parks. We really only spend a small amount of time in our room and only care that there is a fridge in the room and a hot tub. Not only do they have one hot tub but two! They have a hot tub at 100° and one at 104 for people who like the water hotter! You have a beautiful pool they have very clean rooms with a refrigerator and a microwave oven and a coffee maker for making coffee or tea in the room. There is a safe in the room which we always like to protect our valuables when we're not there. An Uber ride to Universal Studios was only $5 - $6 dollars. They do have a free shuttle to the park but it leaves only on a regular basis in the morning and then scattered in the afternoon so we did not take advantage of it. All of the staff there was helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make our stay the best possible. We were given a room right off of the pool area so we could enjoy the pool and hot tub every morning! I have an electric car and when the two free electric car chargers were not working, the hotels engineers did all they could to make sure they would be in working order for our next visit! Since they were not working, engineers Victor & Juan made sure my car was in a safe place where I could plug into a regular outlet so my car would still have a full charge by the time we left. Everyone was so nice and accommodating we already booked our next stay and the front desk made sure we would get the same room since we loved the location. There is a cafe too that made a great breakfast sandwich and even an enterprise car rental on site! They have basketball and tennis courts too!!

« Not as bad as I thought »

I went to this hotel with the mindset of thinking it would be horrible. But honestly my experience was better than I thought. My room was clean and the staffing was very nice. They accommodated me very well. I feel like the price was reasonable and the location was good because it was close to a lot of places and across the street from Wet n Wild. The only thing I don't like is you have to pay for your breakfast there is no complimentary breakfast but hey there's an IHOP and DENNY's up the street. The wifi and parking were both free. The water gets very hot in the shower and the bed was comfortable. If you're on a "Budget" vacation this place isn't bad to try out.

    5
    « Great location »

The room had two queen sized beds and was poolside. This was awesome because my kids were just one step away from the pool. The sliding glass door was tinted so no worries of people seeing into your room during the day as they walked by to go to the pool. There was also a small patio area outside of the room. The hot tub was also nice. The tennis court was easily accessible and they fence around it was tall so you didn't have to worry about balls going over the fence. The room had a microwave and minifridge which was great for leftover pizza. The beds were comfortable. Maintenance had to come and fix the tub/shower combination handle because it was stripped. The maintenance guys were prompt and friendly and it worked well after they fixed it. The location is great as you can walk to Wet n Wild, Universal Studios and iHOP. They were also other attractions and restaurants that you can walk to. There are washers and dryers on site that are coin operated. We ate onsite at the restaurant one night and loved the red velvet cake at the little deli next to the restaurant. Being poolside was the absolute best and the free internet was very fast. I would definitely stay there again.

This place was great. The price was excellent and the service was on point. We were close to Universal Studios. They do offer you a shuttle at specific times. If you don't feel like waiting you can get a taxi at which they will call for you. They had a large pool with two hot tubs. If you forgot something they had a on site store for the little things

Convenient location to amusement parks and restaurants. Hotel was clean and had a nice pool area. Hotel staff were helpfull with any questions. Restaurant in the hotel was a nice place to eat and have cocktails.

    « Great Price! »

Can't believe I got this hotel at a great deal under $70 a night. Building is a little outdated but rooms are quite big and nice. Staff was friendly too. This hotel is only a quick walk to Wet N' Wild. I could see the park from our hotel room. There's only a few downsides. Breakfast was not included. There's a breakfast buffet at the restaurant attached to the building for $10.95 or $7.95 if prepaid at check-in. Beware of an "early check-in fee" if you arrive before 4pm. The receptionist did waive this fee for us since we arrived only a little before the actual time. Overall, we will be back for the rooms on our next visit to Universal!

    4
« Best for the economic traveller »

The hotel is just 2min by car from the Universal Studios, and they offer free shuttles. Very friendly staff! If you don't give them a 9/10 or 10/10, they ask you what they can do better. The hotel itself is rather old, but still they keep it very comfortable, very clean and you get a beautiful view (depending on the room you could even see the Universal studios or the sunset). Lots of families with kids any age. Would definitely go back, for that location, price and what how they make you feel! Thank you!

« Perfect Place To Stay »

Anpavia... the receptionist was amazing, we arrived a little early for check in and wanted to go to the parks before it got to late, and nothing was too much of a problem for her, she checked us in and got us set up in no time at all, the room we had was a lake view, and really really pretty, not one issue at all with this hotel, it was really clean and the beds were super comfy. our check out was again handled by Anpavia...and again it was smooth sailing..its really close to universal studios too, less than 2 miles. we will definitely return on our next trip....and the prices are really good too, booking through expedia gave us a free room upgrade so well worth it..im already planning my next trip and i know exactly where im staying..x

« Clean Hotel with extra fees »

The hotel's upkeep and cleanliness was great & The staff were friendly. My issues was the added fees and the fact that they charge an extra $35 if you want to check in before 3pm. We arrived at 9am and was told the rooms will be ready in 1 hour for $35 fee each room. Over an hour later I was told another 20 minutes then 10 minutes later I was told our rooms wouldn't be ready but they found another one for me. By that time they forgot we needed 2 rooms so we still had to wait another 1 hour for the second room. She said she would waive the early check in fee but, upon check out they charged $30 room upgrade for both rooms. We didn't ask for a room upgrade, we were placed in those rooms because of a mix-up on their end. On the second night one of our rooms had a missing piece from bathroom sink and the water went every where including the sleeping area.

    « Great location, excellent check-in/out clerk »

We stayed here for one night during a two-day stay in Orlando to visit Universal Studios. The front desk clerk during check-in and check-out was a friendly, bubbly, smiling and helpful woman who was just fantastic. The night clerk wasn't so good-smoke detector went off & woke us up, then phone wouldn't work. She didn't seem to care.

« Very nice property with great service »

Stayed here as it was an affiliated Universal Studios property so we could get into the park an hour early when booked through Universal. This is a very nice property that is very well maintained. The rooms were clean and updated. The pool area is fantastic with plenty of seating and very clean. We ate breakfast in the restaurant one morning and it was also very good. I would highly recommend this hotel for this area.

Lovely hotel.. great location for wet and wild and universal. We where able to talk to universal everyday. It allowed us to walk off the lovely breakfast.. The waffle machine ..I want to take home to England...rooms very clean and very helpful staff. Would recommend the hotel anytime.

    « Nice Rooms »

Nice rooms, and nice hotel but there was this awful smell throughout the whole hotel. Smelled like some kind of chemical smell. Also, the breakfast is not included so make sure you check the fine print. It's only $7.95 with your room key, but I didn't think it was as great as they make it sound. But overall, nice hotel, nice pool and two hot tubs.

    « A nice hotel »

This was a nice hotel to come back to after being on our feet all day at universal. It has a free shuttle to and from the park within a time a frame. The breakfast while not free, was also quite a good buffet of items. Our room was clean and very quiet.

« Nice Hotel Good Price Great Location Universal and Wet n Wild »

We just stayed here a couple nights ago for one night only. I wish we could have stayed longer. We were pleasantly surprised with this Property/ Resort Disney Universal Hotel area. It had wonderful amenities. Everything we could possibly want including a business center and has a shuttle to the the closest airport MCO as well as Universal and other attractions. Universal is only 5 minutes away. We were here because we were going to Universal to see the Blue Man Group (by the way don't miss that show and see my review on them as well)! This was an older hotel that has Nice Updated rooms with modern decor fluffy and firm pillows High-quality sheets and comforters. The beds are nice a little Too firm for my taste but my husband loved it. The rooms have every amenity you would need for staying more than one night; Table and chairs Mini fridge microwave blow dryer assorted sundries. Our room was overlooking the beautiful pool and hot tubs. There's also tennis and basketball courts. Hotel has a bar Sharky's Grill that is in the hotel property and offered a low price budget friendly Breakfast buffet that is discounted for the hotel Customer. I believe it was 799 for the buffet including coffee and juice of course. When we checked into the hotel I immediately asked the attendant to print an item from my email. He directed me down the hall to the business center where they have computers and printers for the patrons to utilize. I was online and had my tickets printed within 5 minutes or less. We had the breakfast buffet in the morning which was great it included made-to-order omelettes fresh seasonal fruits and juice coffee assorted pastries multiple protein items to choose from and make it yourself waffles. We called down to Reception in the morning and requested late check-out which was graciously given complimentary until noon. We will definitely be back the next trip to Orlando!

    « Bring Your Pillow »

Good location, around the corner from the International Drive, and very close to Universal Orlando, places to eat, and shop. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable but it needs some better maintenance. Equipped with a mini-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and flat screen TV with HD channels. NOTE: Pillows are HORRIBLE! Free parking, Free WiFi. The staff is very friendly and they do try to be helpful. Very good breakfast buffet (included). The pool is a good size, and clean, with a hot tub near by, which has a fenced in basketball court next to it.

    « Good Hotel »

This hotel is conveniently located close to Universal. Its about a mile and you can walk if you wanted to. It's clean, smells good and has great amenities which includes a restaurant, gym, game room, pool tennis basketball court and more. It even has a car rental services available right inside the hotel. Two disappointing things. First was the pool isn't heated, pool is a bit chilly in the evening if you want to go for a swim after the parks .(but they do have a heated Jacuzzi. ) Second the shuttle bus could be more frequent and you need a pass to get on. There is a huge time frame between the last morning bus and the first evening bus. The bus is also very crowded, as it picks up from other local hotels. Going to the park it takes about 7 minutes returning to the hotel takes 25 minutes via shuttle bus. They probably should incorporate more buses on that particular route. Other than that its a good hotel. I would stay again. Would I rent a car, not sure, we will see, totally up to you? Wet and wild water park is right across the street we walked there.

    « Hotel near Universal »

If you are looking for a Hotel near Universal, this is very close- within 2 miles. Every staff member I came in contact with went out of there way to help. The room/furniture needs updating. The price was high but assuming it was because of spring break.

« Best of the Best Western »

Polite & helpful staff. Very courteous. Room was clean. Most comfortable king bed I've ever slept in. I would highly recommend this hotel. Close to the attractions. Easily navigated in and out of area to find places if you aren't familiar with neighborhood.

    « great value »

my girlfriend and I have stayed here on several occasions when traveling up to Orlando. the location is great, its only a few minutes away from Universal and for the price and service we have decided that anytime we come up to Orlando we will be staying at this Best Western

    2
    « Ok Not Great »

The hotel is old but clean. Not exactly an idyllic place for a family vacation but if you need to lay your head for a night after a day of premium outlet shopping then it will suffice. Parking is horrible but the friendly staff & convenience shop make up for the lack of amenities. Would not stay for more than 2 nights & I only stayed for one!! Did I mention very close to great shopping!!

    « Reviews are correct »

I read the reviews before I stayed here and most of the other reviews are spot on. The Good: It's cheap to stay here Location is in the middle of everything except Disney and the Airports The lobby always smells amazing The rooms have mini fridges and microwaves Staff I interacted with were nice Check in/out was a breeze The Not So Good: The parking is terrible most of the time There's no continental breakfast but there is a restaurant The air in the my room was moldy or musty- I bought a fan to keep the air moving around. It was bearable WiFi was ok but slow I didn't use the pool, tech center, the little grocery store or restaurant. If you want to stay for cheap in the midst of everything and you don't need a 4 or 5 star this place will do.

    5
    « Repeatedly awesome »

Have stayed here four times over the past two years and the staff and services are amazing. The location is great and the cleanliness is remarkable. Great value for the price. The pool area is generally very quiet during the day since many of the guests are on Disney, Universal or other expeditions. Perfect location for us to visit family in the surrounding little towns.

« Helpful and beautiful place to stay »

The hotel was absolutely beautiful. We asked for an extended check out and they accommodated us with no problem. Even after our check out, they allowed us to stay and use the pool area for the afternoon, since it was a late flight out for us. The room was beautiful, clean and staff was great too

We were in Orlando for a convention. Very comfortable beds and a very accommodating friendly staff, excellent breakfast buffet. Convenient to everything without the hassle of International Drive. Will definitely stay there again when in Orlando

    « Pleasant surprise »

We were very pleasantly surprised by the facility and management of this hotel. We booked a one night stay in advance of checking into our Disney resort, and had a suite on the 8th floor. The room and hotel in general are very clean, and we thoroughly enjoyed the restaurant. We truly thought this would just be a stop over before our vacation, and instead enjoyed our afternoon at the pool, a great dinner and a restful sleep. If I could make one recommendation: please have coffee service in your lobby. Some of us are very early riders who don't want to disturb our families. The lobby was pretty busy at 4 am....I think that others would appreciate the opportunity to have coffee as well. My family and I would recommend this hotel to friends and family, and would definitely book again.

« Could Have Been Better »

Best Western is very hit or miss and this one was a miss. We only stayed here for the cost efficiency of this business trip but will be spending the money on a nicer hotel next time. The service was wonderful, but the hotel needs some work.

« Good location but old hotel »

The lobby area is nice but the rooms are very old - this hotel is in a great location it just needs a face lift on the rooms for sure. They are not fresh feeling at all. My TV didn't work and it is my bad that I didn't call down to have it looked at. I'm sure they would have responded I was just too tired to fool with it. The staff is great. They are professional and very friendly. Good service. The pool is just a pool. Nothing fancy but we did spend a little time there and it was a clean nice environment.

« Great for the price »

« We would highly recommend this hotel »

We had booked this hotel with a kingsize bed through Hotels.com. There was a mixup the first night and they put us into a handicap room which had a very large shower but a double bed. After talking to the evening manager, Jorge, about the mistake, he apologized for the inconvenience and comped us breakfast the next morning, the resort fees, and gave us a suite on the top floor for the remaining 4 nights of our stay. Needless to say, we were thrilled with the upgrade and the customer service. The only other issue that we encountered was that we were told that there was a shuttle to Universal studios from the hotel. When it came down to it, even though we arrived 20 minutes early, we were told that the shuttle was full and we couldn't go until later in the morning. The shuttle is run by a third party which sells tickets to Disney, Universal and other attractions in the area, and are not part of the Best Western Gateway.

    4
    « Enjoyable stay. »

We stayed here as part of our package with Universal Studios. We were a family of 5 and when we booked, that's the way we booked it so I was surprised when we arrived and there was only 2 double beds and I had to pay to rent the rollaway bed. That being said, that is really my only complaint about this place. The shuttle to the parks was on time. The room was nice and clean. It is walking distance to Wet 'N Wild. The pool and hot tubs were clean and refreshing.

    « A Good Place to Stay »

We wanted to avoid resort prices and stay close to Universal Studios, and this hotel worked for us. The room smelled a little musty when we first arrived, but that cleared out quickly. They don't have free breakfast; it is an additional $8 per person. All the staff were friendly, polite and maybe even deferential. The maid service was great, and the room was clean but showing some age.

« Reasonably priced and convenient »

I was really nervous about staying here after reading some of the reviews. This hotel was not bad at all. I am very particular about where I sleep. I typically stay in 3.5 star or higher hotels and would have to say this hotel was cleaner and the staff was more professional than the hotel I stayed in prior to my arrival in Orlando. I am not implying you should come here looking for luxury. The hotel is clean and centrally located near most Orlando attractions. Though the hotel is nice those of you booking a hotel here should not arrive at a Best Western with Hilton standards. That immediately warrants negative reviews, because of the high expectations.

    « Universal Adventure/Orlando »

Loved the drinks at the bar & really appreciated the 'ride' to and from Universal Studios. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to the Orlando area. We didn't have time to use the pool or the hot tubs (there have TWO!) but we did relax out in that area with our morning coffee and/or evening cocktails. The bar at the pool was a plus! There are lots of lounge chairs & towels are provided for swimmers/hot tubbers.

« Good price, okay hotel »

Stayed here for 2 nights while i was visiting florida. Staff were okay at the front desk, I had a bit of trouble with my reservation the guy working was helpful while trying to work it out although seemed a bit annoyed by the whole situation. Anyways got away from the desk and to my room. For the price i really shouldnt complain about anything, 170$ for 2 nights, but the hotel is a bit dated. I had a hard time getting the Wi-fi to stay connected but its free so a little hassle is okay. As far as location goes it is A+ close to food, shopping, parks, highway. Pool area was nice, big pool, 2 big hot tubs. Overall we had a decent stay and I would probably go back if i was in orlando again.

One of the nicest places I have stayed at that allowed dogs. They were very kind. I would definitely stay there again. It was clean and quiet at night. My boys loved the pool and hot tub. The only thing I would say is get new pillows or bring your own.

I would like to commend the staff especially Mr. Junior Gonzales, who was so helpful in giving directions and guides for us. Job well done. I highly recommend this hotel for you to stay while in Orlando.

    « Clean Hotel »

The room was clean and most of all quiet. Since the hotel is just off International Blvd. there is easy access to all of the various attractions without all the traffic. There is a small charge for breakfast, but it is good and had a variety of breakfast items. Would stay here again.

« Lovely staff, horrible interiors »

Great, helpful staff and employees. Internet was shocking, for the price I paid I'd hope to get a nicer interior, it was clearly ancient or just really badly designed in materials that would age badly. Good location, near local transportation. Stay fine for 1 night.

« A great value, friendly and clean hotel »

This hotel, although not on the infamous I-Drive, is centrally located on Orlando's I-Drive. It is literally a five minute walk to the I-Drive area, a five minute walk to Wet n Wild, and is a five minute drive to Universal Studios. Ideal if you're getting the free shuttle bus to Universal, as this hotel is the last stop before Universal, meaning you don't have a long trip there. It is clean, quiet and friendly and the facilities are ideal for a family. I would definately recommend this hotel. The hotel does provide a good variety buffet breakfast, for an extra $10, which isn't great if you just fancy a coffee and a croissant! Otherwise, there is a Walgreen's within five minutes where you can buy breakfast items.

« If you are looking for good location:) »

Do not expect any miracle, the rooms are fine, clean, bathroom needs renovation. Breakfast in the hotel - a small selection, not good. The hotel stuff was friendly and helpful. But hotel location is excellent, close to the theme parks.

« Rough experience on our 50th Anniversary. »

We stayed at the Best Western for our 50th Wedding Anniversary and have to say that the pictures that you see on the internet are very deceiving because the room we stayed in didn't come to our standards. I would like to make note that I don't have anything to complain about the housekeeping staff, their service was great. However, it's not their fault that the building is crappy and everything seemed to be broken ! But imagine our surprise when we got back to the UK when the fraud squad rang us telling us that our Credit Card had been cloned and someone was on a £1200 spending spree in Beverley Hills, The only time we used the card was to pay a $50 refundable deposit for the safe in our room. The experience hasn't put us of Orlando but we would stay somewhere else.

    « One Night Stay »

I stayed here with my daughter, a few of her dance team mates, and their coach; to watch the NDA Dance Competition at Hard Rock Live. This hotel was fairly close to the venue and they provided complimentary shuttle service. The shuttle is scheduled, but they had plenty of times to choose from. The room was very clean and we were on the top floor overlooking the front side of the building. They must have pretty thick windows, because we didn't hear anything from the outside. The only issue I had was that I wished we could have stayed another night or two. So the next time we visit, we'll make sure that we stay here and plan to stay more than just one night.

    « Not a great experience »

Stayed for three days as part of our Orlando vacation. Stayed in a king suite. Room appeared clean but when you actually started looking around it was pretty gross. Couch in room was stained black with dirt and filth. Some sort of crust was on the headboard (see pics). Entire room had a musty smell. Bedding had hairs in it. Shower did not drain at all and you had water half way up to your knee when you were done your shower. Really gross. Escalated cleanliness and shower issues to front desk. Unsure if anything was done as shower still didn't drain and the gross crust was still on the headboard. To add insult to injury we called front desk to order a cab to go to Universal City Walk. A black unmarked car pulled up and said they had been called by the hotel for us. This car had no meters so I asked if this was an Uber or a cab and he said no. And I said OK well how much will this cost us? He said minimum $10.00. He then went into front desk and handed agent something and came back. Once we got to the city walk we realised this was a complete rip off. This would not have been a $10 cab ride. On the way home we used a marked cab and it cost us $4.00. Complete scam through the hotel agent who probably got a kick back. Would never stay here again. If it wasn't for enterprise being right on sight we wouldn't have stayed in the first place. Avoid.

    « Room review »

We found that the rooms were nice & clean. the beds are only a double not a queen. The noise from adjacent room was loud could hear the toilet when people were going, the door slammed & you can feel it through the bed head.

    « Great Hotel »

This is my second time staying here and each time it gets better. The people who work there are the BEST, Friendly and can't do enough for their customers. I had NO problems at all and Mr. Gonzalez who is the DoorMan, was there when I need a Bus map & transportation anywhere....He is the BEST at his job, he is a great asset to the hotel. I'm already planning my next trip and I'll be staying there for sure. The hotel is very Military friendly!

    « Universal trip »

The only complaint I had was that the bathroom was tiny and it could use a little updating however the staff was very nice and it was conveniently located to universal. A complimentary breakfast would have also been nice but you have to pay 10$ per person to eat.

    « Cockroaches and mold »

We left the room at 09 in the morning and returned at 09 at night. The bed had been made but the room had not been cleaned and there was rubbish lying around. When gathering the rubbish up a couple of cockroaches crawled out that I had to kill. I delivered the rubbish to the reception and informed them about the cockroaches. I was told the manager was going to call, but he never did. Also the room was quite stuffy and smelled of mold. I would not recommend this hotel.

    « Enjoyed our stay »

The hotel is beautiful, the only issue we had was the odors in all of the rooms. Once reported, the hotel staff immediately took care of the problem. The food was delicious, the exercise room was great, the bar was good as well. The hotel is immaculate and the staff is outstanding.

    2
    « Poor Upkeep »

Rooms are in need of maintenance. Especially the bathrooms. The decor is in need of some freshening up. The wifi is off and on, depending on what floor you are on. We changed rooms a few times due to maintenance issues.

« Good value - watch out for resort fee. »

We were put in this hotel at the last minute by our tour operator due to a disaster with our first hotel so didn't really get any choice. Over all we were happy with the hotel, yes, it's basic, but our room on the 3rd floor was very clean and we were provided with fresh bedding / towels daily. We thought the breakfast offer (eat all you can buffet type affair) was great value for money and used this facility several times. $9.95 per person. The hotel is rather dated and probably won't be for you if you are looking for luxury. Our room had twin beds and as a married couple that was a bit weird to get used to - apparently there was no other option available, to get us out of the hell hole we had initially been provided with though we were at the stage where we would settle for anything. If like us you were looking for a good base for Universal with clean comfortable beds, a free shuttle, pool and jacuzzi it's decent value for money. Only thing we were disappointed with was the $4.50 per day "resort fee". As we had paid in advance through our travel agent we were told by Thomas Cook we did not have to pay this as it was settled, however, the hotel insisted we should pay it and it would be taken off our credit card regardless, we are now going to have to try and claim it at this end after the end of our holiday. It's left a bitter taste in our mouths over which was until then a great little space to rest your head after a busy day in Orlando. Another thing to note is there are 2 providers of tickets for parks in the lobby, a Universal provider with tickets for Universal - not really cheaper than buying directly from the park but saves the hassle, very lovely people and sorted us out a day at Kennedy Space Centre. The other provider is cheap tickets for the other parks - including Disney but is a timeshare company. I think it's really odd a hotel would choose to have a timeshare company selling in their lobby. Just be aware that if you are offered Disney tickets for $50 each there IS a catch.

    2
    « Disappointing »

When booking this hotel, it was listed on the website that there was an airport shuttle. Upon arrival at the airport we found this wasn't true and it took a $45 cab ride to get there. At the front desk, when we told them about this, there was no concern about the problem whatsoever until we started talking about customer service. I think it is wrong that it is listed on their booking.com listing and it is false.

« Great serve, with comfortable beds! »

Great, affordable, place to stay when visiting Universal. Staff was extremely welcoming and helpful! On-sit restaurant was beneficial. Beds were small, but comfortable (not too hard or too soft). Highly recommend!

    2
    « No thank you. »

I am shocked of the many good reviews for this hotel. I was not impressed at all! There was a patched hole in our wall, people would talk in the hallways and sounds like they were literally in your room with you. I would pay more and stay somewhere a little nicer. The only reason we stayed here was for the bus to take us to Universal. Not somewhere I would recommend or stay in the future.

    5
    « Great Experience »

Very nice and clean Hotel. Very professional, helpful staff. Felt like a safe environment. It was obvious that customer service was a top priority. Very nice pool, clean. Only problem was limited Internet access. I would definitely stay there again.

    3
    « Spacious Room »

We found the room to be spacious and clean. The pool was nicely heated, as well as the hot tub. It was convenient having a microwave and refrigerator along with a sitting area. The front desk staff was attentive, but I would have liked acknowledgement of being a Choice Privilege Member.

    5
    « Pottermore Fans »

Great hotel, location is close to the park and has a free shuttle that allows you to get into the park 1hr before the muggles are let in! Would stay here again in the future if we come back. Can't put higher praise on it than that?

    « 5 Nights in Orlando »

The front desk staff was very friendly and upbeat. Made us feel they were genuinely happy we had chosen to be their guests. The room had two sinks that made getting ready in the morning much easier. Location to Universal Theme Park was perfect - walking distance ! Beds are comfortable and pillows not flattened.

    « Stinky old carpet »

Lobby doesn't have carpet, so you can't tell the bad smell just yet. Now, after taking the elevators up to your room, as soon as the door opens, the smell hits you. It's a very strong old, moldy carpet odor. Really bad. The carpet in the hallways and rooms have probably never been changed. If you are allergic, run! Although I don't have any allergies I had to fight the urge to leave this hotel. I booked it at hot wire, so no refunds. I had to endure it. Got a can of Lysol, sprayed the whole room down but it didn't do much for the smell. I would never stay at this place again. Consider yourself warned!

« 5 minutes by car to universal orlando, free wifi, clean, tidy hotel »

We have stayed best western hotel for 5 nights. They have offered us room with pool view. The weather was excellent for February. if we spent time in hotel during day we may used pool. It is only 5 minutes away from Universal Orlando. You may walk in 10-15 minutes. Room has air condition, fridge, coffee machine, microwave, free wifi. It is value for money.

« Walking distance to Universal »

Eight of us stayed here for five nights in two rooms. The rooms are a nice size and included a two double beds, sofa bed, small fridge and microwave. The room rate included a daily hot breakfast which was a great start to the day. There is a free shuttle to Universal but you must sign up for it the night before. We only used it on a rainy day. It's about a 15 minute walk to the parks. Front desk staff was always helpful. There was also a guy who worked the Universal desk and he was good for information as well as ticket purchases, if needed. We would definitely stay here again. One thing we'd love to see is a bigger pool area but it was fine for a quick dip and cool off, just not hanging around all day. Hotel also had free wifi which was key with a bunch of teenagers!

    3
« Room smelled like moldy »

Hotel looks a bit dated, and there was strong smell of mildew or mold in the room. Hotel could use a renovation, especially since it is not particularly cheap. The room had a window-type air-condition that was quite noisy, and probably the source of the moldy smell. Plus for offering free parking, being close to Universal studios and International drive. The free shuttle to the park (route B) was also convenient. Taxi from The park was around 10$ including tip.

    4
    « Clean and Comfortable »

Enjoyed my stay. A well maintained hotel with friendly and helpful staff. Close to Universal Studios and lots of great restaurants. We arrived well before check-in time but the staff held our luggage and prepared a room for us while we had breakfast. Mr. M Gonzalez Jr. was particularly helpful arranging rides for us during our stay. Our room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The only thing I would suggest in regards to improvements would be the hotel restaurant. The food was good but the menu was limited and the beverages were watered down.

    5
    « Very Nice Place »

This hotel is very easy to find. Wonderful staff and housekeeping! Room was very clean and roomy. They allow pets without over-charing outrageous prices. I had a problem with a light and the electrician came within a few minutes and was very professional and nice to speak with. Breakfast is a nice option with good tasting omelets and treats. Clean, comfortable, and central location to lots of Orlando eateries and activities.

« Would stay here again »

I love this place, everything always looks its best. The service is always great. The rooms are comfortable. The only thing that bothered me on this stay was that they took the free breakfast away. When they did have for it free it was really great and delicious.

    « Great stay !! »

The hotel is simply wonderful , spacious rooms, comfortable beds and most importantly free wifi ! Location was great close to universal studios and very near international drive . Rooms were quite clean but they do need to be more clean But all in all it was an amazing stay couldn't be happier ! Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hotel in Orlando and I would stay there again.

    « good hotel »

in the midle of good and excellent because some things was very good and some ones are not so good enough but the most of people there was kindly and gentle. The parking was not very good because there is not so many places to use.

« Quality has dropped significantly. »

I'll start by saying I chose to stay at this hotel because I've stayed here a few times before on business trips and had an overall good experience. However my last stay was by no means up to the standard I've come to appreciate. The A/C in the room did not work very well, which was OK for the night because it was going to be in the 40's at night. Despite having it set at the lowest setting for the entire stay, I would say the room stayed between 78-80 degrees consistently. I could see this being a big issue in any other month besides February. Next, I got up to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night and saw a roach when I turned the light on. It quickly scurried away under the sink when it was surprised by the light, and was small. However, it was a roach none the less and I can see this being a big concern for many, although I was not about to have this battle with the front desk at 3am. Florida hotels will try to tell you these are palmetto bugs. Please do not buy into this lie. Further, there shouldn't be any bug, roach or palmetto bug, inside the 4th floor of a hotel room. Finally, I had the pleasure of being awoken by SCREAMING kids at 6am every 2-3 minutes. How parents could just allow their children to scream like this in a hotel is beyond me. I am a heavy sleeper and normally stuff like this does not even phase me, but this was just something you could not sleep through. I politely decided to call the front desk and inform them of the issue, rather than taking matters into my own hand and causing world war 3 on their property. I was assured they would send somebody up, however after 45 minutes of continued screaming I questioned if this was even done. Upon calling a second time, I was told there was "nothing they could do about it". I can assure you there are much nicer hotels in the Orlando area, where you won't be told there is "nothing they can do" about your problems. Lastly, I would like to say that generally I give the benefit of the doubt to hotels and provide them the chance to remedy the situation before posting negative reviews to websites like this. However, the only concern of the Best Western was where they could charge the $4.50 resort fee. Exactly what you want to hear when you're trying to tell them about a roach and air conditioning concern for the next unsuspecting victim.

« My experience at Best Western was... »

I definitivetly recommend this hotel because is located near attractions and restaurants in Orlando and had a very good experience. We were four people in my family and everything was great at the hotel: Service, room, breakfast, internet, parking and so.

    « Value for money »

Great location opposite 'wet and wild ' and close to shops and food outlets . The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, with fruit, a variety of cooked food and a selection of pastries and waffles. The breakfast room was a tad shabby but that was more than compensated by the lovely staff working there. Our room was spacious and clean and had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. We would recommend this hotel as it represented good for value for money with super staff.

« Good value, good price »

A part of a package deal for someone who couldn't afford to stay "in" the nearby theme parks, this was very acceptable. The room was spacious; the bathroom clean with a nice shower. There is free scheduled shuttle service between the hotel and the theme parks if you have bought "the package" (recommended). Breakfast is not included, but for about $10, it's worth it. The buffet is like that in other hotels, with a few nice extras. There is a service desk in the hotel lobby to help with arrangements for and questions about the theme park options; it's open from 7:15 am to midnight. Parking can be a little tight, but usually there is no serious difficulty. Lots of restaurants, both chain and independent, nearby. So finding something to eat is easy. WiFi is pretty reliable; it's open (unsecured) and free. The front desk staff was welcoming and helpful, almost pre-emptive. They anticipated my questions even before I asked them. Knowing that my flight wasn't until late in the afternoon and that checkout was at 11 am, they said it would be all right to lock my suitcases in the trunk of my car and, if I wished to do so, I could leave the car in the parking lot until I needed it to go to the airport. They also said they could store the bags for me in the hotel after checkout if I preferred that. (Very accommodating).

    « Excellent staff »

We chose this hotel for its location and price but it turned to be a wonderful experience, the staff were very professional and polite, they responded to our requests in time. The hotel itself has good services including a free parking and Internet in rooms. Air conditioning, plenty of towels and good house keeping. All main dining areas are a walking distance. Universal studios is short distance and wet and wild is at the door

« Off to Discovery Cove »

One night stay was great. Staff were very helpful and the room was very clean. Will use this location again when we return to visit family and explore other areas in FL. Also, free bus service to Sea World etc.

« Best Western Gateway Universal Area »

Excellent hotel just minutes from Universal Studios Orlando Florida. Comfortable clean hotel perfect for families and those looking to be close to but out of the busy section of Orlando. The pool area and Hot Tubs are a big plus and the area is well maintained. The only improvement could be to the deli area which has a very small selection and the quality was not that good for the money.

    « Late Notice »

This was a great find at the end of a long week at the PGA show. great job on the rooms and the lobby very clean in all areas.Job well done to the staff and Management. would stay here again next year if we go.

« Not bad for the price »

So initially I didn't know what to expect with this hotel. The first night I was a little on edge because I was unsure about the place. It is pretty outdated. However the beds were comfy enough. I would say they need to upgrade to full size pillows. The pillows that come on the bed are the size of square couch pillows. The breakfast buffet was $9.99 and it just didn't seem all that appetizing, I probably wouldn't call it a buffet. A waffle maker, a few fake eggs, a bowl of fruit. We just ended up going down the street to a Denny's (don't go there!!! There was mold on my ham! I'm still praying I don't get sick) All in all the room was pretty clean, bed linens were changed everyday and new towels were brought each day. Would I stay here again? Maybe, because it was so affordable ($68 a night) but if I wasn't on such a tight budget, I would go elsewhere.

« Lizzie Junior: the most helpful staff in the hotel »

Our booking.com reservation was cancelled due to an issue with our credit card. Lizzie was the best you can expect as a customer arriving to Orlando in a nearly fully booked weekend. She was helpful and courteous. Thanks a lot

    « nice facilities »

Exceeded our expectations - heated pool, nice fitness room, 2 sinks - one in bathroom and separate one, and the hotel is next to a lake! We don't have young children, but there is a water park on one side of the lake, and lots of nearby activities for children.

« Much better than expected...... »

I recently had the opportunity to stay for 6 nights at this hotel. The overall experience was better than average. We had a group of 7 people staying for a trade show in the area and our stay was very good. The entire staff did everything they could to make our stay good and they were very friendly and helpful. The hotel has a little age on it but everything was in good condition and the rooms were clean and serviced daily. Good breakfast buffet and only at dinner 1 night, but it was good as well. We reserved a room for a sales meeting and it worked great for our group. From what I understand the rates are very good for the area and well worth the money spent.

    3
    « Average »

This hotel is ok, not great, not terrible, just ok. For the price, it's decent value. The rooms are pretty dated, but they could be worse. So it's ok, if your on a budget. You'll probably need to rent a car in most cases, because you can't walk to most of the attractions.

« Best West is a Beautiful Bargain »

First: I'm aware that there are bigger and certainly more amenity loaded locations to stay in at Orlando; but, then again, you're going to pay big bucks to vacation with them. That said, if you're looking for a clean, well-managed, fully functional, and reasonably priced room for a few nights right up the street from Universal Orlando, DO NOT MISS THIS B.W. PROS: ? Friendly helpful staff, clean & quiet room, comfortable beds, plenty of power outlets, close (1.6 miles) to Universal Orlando, well-kept grounds, reasonably priced restaurant. ? Amenities: free WiFi, free parking, and free shuttle to parks (see note below) ? Met a couple with two large guide dogs who mentioned how accommodating and helpful the staff were toward them and their dogs. Apparently the front desk assistant gave a bag of doggie treats to each dog upon arrival. Now, that's service! CONS: ? The shower control handle in our particular room was difficult to operate. Would've been easier with a lever type handle as opposed to a push-pull knob. ? The return ?B? shuttle from Universal to the hotel missed the 4:10pm & 4:50pm pickup causing us to wait for the 5:35pm bus. And, I think they would've missed our stop again had I not flagged down the ?A? shuttle. The ?A? driver contacted his dispatcher and insured the ?B? bus stopped (albeit late) to pick us and several other riders up accordingly. ? The morning we left I noticed several autos parked along the sides of the parking lot. So, I supposed there were not enough parking spaces to accommodate late arrivals.

The staff at the hotel went out of their way to make the stay a positive experience. The manager of the breakfast buffet was friendly and accommodating. The hotel itself was pleasant in every way. The friendly staff went out of their way to provide anything we requested. The room was comfortable and clean, though the air conditioner was a bit noisy.

Great hotel with the exception that I did not have hot water in the shower the morning I woke up. I had a flight to catch so I had to shower in luke warm water. The hot water in the sink in the bathroom and the sink in the dressing area had hot water. The bed was very comfortable and had nice linens. The pillows were comfortable too. The front desk staff was friendly and so was the bartender. I would stay there again but would check out the hot water in the shower before I unpacked.

« CONVENIENT AND EXCELLENT VALUE FOR THE DOLLAR »

On my arrival, I was pleased to be recognized as A Gold Rewards Member with a little gift bag. It made me feel at home from the start. The convenient free shuttle to the Universal Studio's Theme Park was an added bonus, despite the fact that it was usually full by the time it reached our hotel. Although not free, the Restaurant on the property dis provide a very good start to the day..

I found Best Western Orlando to be very clean and well equipped. The room came with a small coffee maker, a safe, a microwave and a mini frig. All the staff was helpful and extremely friendly. And in a good location on Universal Ave. I would highly recommend Best Western to anyone.

    2
    « Poor quality room »

Good location really close to universal. They offer a free shuttle, but fail to tell you you have to get a ticket to ride it for the morning and they go fast for the early rides so we had to walk or else wait 2 hours for the next one. Also our room was a disaster. Hole in wall, fridge didn't work, sliding closet doors off tracks, bathroom door wouldn't shut unless you slammed your body into it, and the phone in the room wouldn't call to even ask the front desk about what the heck kind of room we got put in. Looked like someone had just partied in it and no one cleaned up the after math. The general condition of our room was just pretty gross. Asked the front desk in person to look into our room and never heard anything about it. Staff was friendly at least. The Shuttle situation is confusing so that could be better explained to guests.

    « Fully Recommended! »

The amenities were very clean and comfortable. It has the advantage that is close to shops, restaurants and theme parks. Even they have free shuttle to Universal Studios and service is very efficient. Our room was clean and they cleaned it daily. During the stay we had problems with the bathroom lights and blower, but the staff resolved the problem immediately.

I attended a series of meetings in the Hilton Orlando and was looking for a hotel within walking distance to force me to walk. The Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel was my choice and I am glad to report that it worked great. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is not new, but it is kept in decent shape. I used Uber everywhere and there are good restaurants nearby. I would stay here again.

This hotel was a fantastic value for our trip to Universal Orlando. It's so close to the park you can walk, and if you don't want to walk it's a really inexpensive cab ride. You might not need to do either, because their shuttles actually run all day (a lot of hotels just run one in the morning and one at night). You can get tickets the same day, although they do sell out in the moring, so try to get those early. We got the breakfast buffet included in our room package, so it was a great deal and the kids loved it. We also had a junior suite, so a really nice big room with fridge, micro, wet bar and fold-out couch -- plenty of space for the four of us. There are all kinds of shops and restaurants nearby, including International Drive, so it's convenient to pretty much everything. The pool and hot tubs are really nice - lots of tables to sit, privacy fences around the hot tubs, and having two is nice. The staff are friendly and helpful - other than the not-so-great guy handling the shuttle tickets, everyone we talked to was really nice. And the price was great -- I would definitely stay here agin.

    « Great Staff »

The staff was awesome. The property lobby and exterior is going through some renovations but it didn't get in the way of us enjoying our stay. The renovations look great by the way. They have a restaurant and a shop (deli) that came in handy for snacks and ice cream. The pool was heated and my kids enjoyed that while we were here. Overall a very good stay and we would come back again.

« Perfect for Visit to Universal Studios Orlando »

Decided to make a last minute trip to visit Universal Studios Orlando and looked for hotels near the venue. Many to choose from. This facility was close by and had favorable reviews so booked it. Was very pleasantly surprised. Well landscaped exterior on a quieter road than most. Nicely appointed lobby. Great greeting by staff (made to feel truly special and wanted as a guest). Room was well equipped with flat screen TV, wireless internet, microwave, fridge and coffee maker (and they all worked). Decor was a step up from what I anticipated - nicely furnished, attractive wall decorations. Good linens and a very comfortable bed. Fitness center equipment worked well (so many places its in disrepair). Would have tried pool and whirlpool but it was unseasonably cold outdoors. Provided scheduled convenient transportation to Universal. Overall, an excellent choice.

« Quick visit to Orlando »

I visit Orlando regularly for theme park and cultural and occasional professional times. I find that Best Western properties very often meet my needs at a decent price with quality amenities. It turns out the the Best Western Orlando Gateway Hotel is one of my prime choices for lodging in Orlando. It is strategically located on Universal Blvd across I-Drive making it easy to navigate to most any place I want to visit. The Hotel is welcoming, clean and the staff friendly. The front desk clerk made sure my room was available on check-in. The room was neat and clean and the WIFI worked well for my needs. I have stayed at this property before and will again.

« You get what you pay for »

Overall, I guess this is an OK hotel for the budget minded, just go in knowing you'll get what you paid for. A friend and myself planned a last-minute vacation to Orlando, and booked this room using Hotwire. The price was right for us - and we did not have high expectations for this property. Its a good thing we had this mindset - while we were not planning on spending much time at this "resort" ($5 a night fee for what?!), we did not expect much of it either. Upon checking into our room, we were greeted with a odd odor, annoying but not offensive. The A/C was set to 72F, but the room was at least 80F. Seeing the A/C to its lowest (62F) will yield a room around 74F. The toilet was not very well cleaned, with a splash dried urine on the seat from the previous tenants. But, as I mentioned - the price was right! We planned on spending the minimal amount of time in this room. Staff was friendly, and I'm guessing (hoping) that if I had reported issues, they could have been resolved. But going for the path of least resistance, we were only there to count sheep. The beds were not bad, though!

    « Awful experience »

Our car's window was broken at the Hotel parking lot. No security cameras, nor security guards to protect the guess's vehicles and other properties inside the cars. The parking lot has not locked gate to access it and it was kind of dark. According to the Orlando police officer. This is not the first time that something like this happen in the hotel's parking lots of the area. In total, 11 cars were broken into that night from 01/09 to 01/10/2016

« Pretty decent after changing rooms »

We got put in room 543 initially and it had some issues. The AC was leaking water all over the floor after it was used for an hour. The extra sink in the room area did not have cold water to speak of and then when my husband used it, it did not drain! After it slowly started draining, it leaked all onto the floor underneath. Finally the outlet next to the sink that has the hairdryer plugged in to it, did not work at all. Well after the sink fiasco, we went down and they offered to put us in another room. We went up to the sixth floor and in an updated room and everything was good from there! We got charged for a breakfast that we didn't eat, but when I went to the front desk, she fixed it. The breakfast there was actually very good, it was a large spread with many options and not a bad price either, much cheaper than eating at Universal Studios! We also had a $25 voucher for the hotel restaurant when we booked our package, we ate dinner one night and it was pretty good. The staff was pleasant overall and helpful.

    « WORST hotel experience »

One of the worst hotels I've stayed at. First hotel that ever charged an early check in fee. Front desk was not very friendly. We were charged a $15 fee for an "upgraded" room rather than the $35 early check in. The room was dirty, there was hair on the bedding and towels, and it did not seem any more "upgraded" than the rooms my friends got that they were not charged an extra fee for. Our pillows were terrible and lumpy, the ceiling had dust balls on it, the bathroom was outdated, the toilet didn't flush, and I didn't even want to shower in the grungy tub. The hotel's appearance overall was grungy at best. Will never stay here again. If I could give 0 stars, I would!

    « Great Stay »

Reasonable cost, close to attractions and restaurants, great pool area and the two hot tubs were very clean, lots of sun bathing area. The breakfast buffet was very tasty - good variety and they would make to order eggs and omelets. Cleaning staff helped with any item we asked for and beds were very comfortable. We had a very nice stay here.

    « very nice hotel »

very nice hotel and location to visit Orlando and its attractions! Good both for adults and children. I recommend it to families. Nice people! Good services and beautiful rooms. Very close to Outlets, Parks and a lot of restaurants.

    « Very good »

I was very satisfied with the overall service. The location was near Universal Studios. That was a plus. Staff were helpful. They solved the electrical problem in a fast period. The water outage was resolved in a short period. I have stayed three night and enjoy my trip in Orlando. The temperature was cool but it was warm in the room. My wife had all the facilities in the room for her. I was expecting to watch a hockey game on NBC but we had only basketball. The internet had to be re-establish every time I was using it. Overall, I would do my trip and stay in the same Best Western for the price and location.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

This conveniently located hotel provided a comfortable stay in a clean room with good amenities and decent service that provided good value for this stay. It is convenient to Universal Orlando a short drive to Disney and a walk away from the International Drove shops. The rooms are very functional with refrigerator, microwave and flat panel TV. As most hotels in Orlando the lobby area offers a restaurant, convenience store and concierge services for tickets to attractions. There is a resort fee that is modest compared to others in the area.

    « Some problems... »

If it was not for the front desk AWESOME service I would rate this Terrible. The room is clean but when using AC gets the carpet wet and give a moldy smell in the air. The shower was a mess. When pulling to turn the shower head on the wall followed. Had to push on wall to be able to get the shower running. We were offered a complimentary breakfast voucher that we gave entering and ended up going near the end time 10:30am. by the time we had finish eating the doors were locked. When asked if they could unlock it we got questioned on where was our voucher, who took it and after finding the person the man reluctantly allowed us to leave as if he was not sure the woman in question had taken it. The wi-fi connection was terrible kept disconnecting every 15 mins or so. Over all I would not return to this location. There is plenty of other hotels in that area in the same price range.

    « Had some hiccups »

I would have rated this hotel a lot lower, but the service we got was really excellent even when there were problems. In general the place was clean and decent. I don't think they really have a right to charge a resort fee because there is nothing even remotely resortish about it. Having a mediocre buffet in the mornings and a pool does not equal a resort in my mind. I was really sick when I first arrived so I just wanted to sleep and it wasn't until the next morning that we discovered that half the carpet was soaking wet from the air conditioner. We went to the front desk to get it repaired, and after spending the whole day out it was worse when we got back. They moved us to a new room with apologies, but then the next day my husband woke up with flea bites, NOT bed bug (just keep that in mind). They moved us again to a king suite which was really nice, and they comped us breakfast and the resort fee. Everyone was really helpful and apologetic that things didn't go right. I wouldn't stay there again voluntarily, but if we had to do another last minute trip like this one was and our usual place was booked again, I would if it were super cheap because there are nicer places nearby for not much more. The customer service was top notch and the location is great for easy access to highway and parks if you are driving.

« Great Staff and Great Service - Hotel Itself in TERRIBLE Condition - ..But Good Location »

I stayed at Best Western in Orlando the first week of December 2015. I did not have a good experience with my stay. I have stayed at Best Western before at other locations, and I have normally been happy, which is why I went with this hotel. First of all, I would like to make note that I don't have anything to complain about the hotel staff, their service was great. However, it's not their fault that the building is crappy. Everything seemed to be broken! My first room had a very distinctive musty smell and the Wi-Fi didn't work. Because of the fact that these two big things were broken, it made my quite disappointed. Therefore I started noticing things in the room that I would normally just ignore, or at least no complain about. These are things like, no filter in the sinks so the water spilled everywhere and the toilet didn't flush properly. I arrived on a Sunday and didn't have time to talk to the staff about this because I had a test early on Monday and had to focus on that. I decided to talk to the staff after my first test. I am not known for being difficult when it comes to hotels, especially when I'm there for business and not pleasure. However, I was in Orlando to take very important tests and wifi was essential for me. Also, I did not have time to make a big fuss because I had to use all the time I had to prepare and get ready for my tests. I went to the front desk and explained, they were very helpful and got me a new room. Now I wasn't very excited about having to pack and move, as this would take up precious study time but I just could't stay in the musty room where the A/C was clearly broken. The new room was a lot better and did not have the musty smell. The wifi worked, so I was happy. I was able to get back to my studying for my second test on Tuesday. I'll point out that one time I was washing my hands in the bathroom the towel rack just broke off the wall and fell down out of nowhere. When I get back to my hotel room on Tuesday after my second test, I went to the gym, which seemed fine and had decent equipment available. The A/C in the gym was broken and the water fountain did not work either. Needless to say, I was getting quite frustrated with the condition of this hotel. I inform the staff about this, and they say that they will have someone look at it. Next day, Wednesday, the room is very humid when I wake up and it is quite clear that the A/C wasn't working properly...again. I decided to go to a nearby Starbucks to study and put the A/C on full, hoping to arrive later to a fresh room. This was not the case! When I arrive 6 hrs later the room is very cold but incredibly humid - not a good combination. I couldn't bare it, and contacted the front desk which sent up an engineer. The engineer explained to me that I needed to set the A/C much lower (I had it set to 70 degrees, I am an Icelander and I don't enjoy the cold haha), he suggested 62 degrees. I am not an A/C expert, but if the unit does not do it's job (to condition the air..), unless set to 62 degrees, the unit is not working properly! My problem wasn't the temperature, because it was actually freezing, but the humidity. The engineer was not able to solve the problem. At this point, my patience is up! I call for the hotel manager and go over everything that has been wrong with my stay. He states that he has never heard of any guest having these problems before. Which may very well be true, but I must be a very unlucky person then! I still had two tests to go, and had two nights left of my stay and I didn't know what to do. I could not afford to pack everything and move rooms once again and I was afraid that I would just run into jet another problem with that room as with the other two. So I decided to take a chance and check out early and go to a different hotel. I had prepaid my stay so I talked to the hotel manager about refunding the two nights and one extra night since I had to book a hotel with no time in advance and all my options were very expensive. He agreed to this and was very helpful, nice and understanding about all this. But like I stated in the beginning, the service at the hotel was fantastic, it's not the staff's fault if the building is practically falling apart. I went to another hotel nearby and was incredibly happy with my decision about switching hotels. I am returning to Orlando now in March 2016 and have already booked my stay with the latter hotel. I called Hotels.com Customer Service and they spoke to the hotel manager at Best Western and they said they would refund me the three nights. However, a month later I have not received any refund. I'm not sure if this is an uncommon error with the system, or something of the sort. But I am quite upset having to chase after the refund that I am entitled to. Not to mention that now I am in another country and I can't call Customer Service as easily. I'm sure a lot of people had a great stay at Best Western, but this was my experience. Also, I was there for business therefor I didn't take into account how close the hotel was to theme parks as it was irrelevant to me.

    « Good clean hotel »

A pleasure to stay at this hotel, it is clean, bright, and the hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are well fitted, and the beds firm with duvet and not the usual blanket. I had a fantastic sleep there. Easily to recommend. We would use it again when we return

good hotel, with good location close to universal studio. They have car rental, pool, 3$ laundry, fitness center. only bad thing is that they dont include breakfast. They have reception that sell tickets to universal studios and free shuttle bus.

« Good bang for the buck »

Our visit was a bit marred by some remodeling, but overall very satisfied. Extremely close to Universal Studios theme park with free shuttles to and from...a real plus. Very quiet even though it's right on the main road to Universal.

    « Decent Hotel »

I recently stayed at this hotel for a weekend at Disney. It was good. Construction happening but very clear signs. I was in room 221. This is an older hotel and it shows. TVs need to be updated. If you are just sleeping here, it's great. Pros: Great safe location off International Drive Interior room entry Free theme park shuttle, parking and wifi Cons: Older musty smell AC didn't get as cool as it said on unit Thin walls but I did have an adjoining room Breakfast was $7.95 (only BW property I've been to where breakfast wasn't included) In a pinch I would stay here again for just sleeping. If I was vacationing I would probably check out another property.

    « AMAZING!!! »

Everything about my stay was enjoyable, except for the pillows, they are the smallest and most uncomfortable pillows i have ever used. The windows are much darker on the exterior than they are on the interior. Plenty of privacy while still achieving that great view of the pool. Extremely close to the parks and one of the more affordable hotel options with that feature. Highly recommend this hotel.

    « Universal Trip »

This hotel was good for the price. Clean, close to park and friendly staff. There was maintenance being done at the front entrance, however, the staff was very helpful with providing answers to questions upon request. Room are out dated but the service and number of towels in the room was perfect for a family of four. I will recommend to others.

    « Pros and cons »

Cons: Provides free shuttle passes but got stressed to get the shuttle passes every morning. Shuttle bus runs almost one bus per hour... and difficult to get the pass for the time you want... Very weak wifi.... disconnected consistently... Cons: Good location, clean room and good staff....

« Christmas hoilday in the sun »

wonderful hotel we stayed for 12 days ,,we had 2 pool rooms so we just opened door and jumped into a heated pool , (a little noisy at times with shriks of childrens delight ) but it was our choice of rooms ,,kids played basket ball and tennis, ALL THE STAFF INCLUDING CLEANING PEOPLE was VERY FREINDLY ,and OBLIGING ,, I saw 2 different managers walking around checking on things ,,one asked me (at random) if I had any problems with my stay . (none at that time ),,our room smelt a little when you first go in but I think it was years of people running in from the pool and dragging in the clorine smell..my one big problem was that on Christmas morning I would exspect to be woke up at 5AM with a childs delighted of shouts of "" its Christmas day "" not a lound barking dog (it only barked at morning when it needed to go out BUT at 5AM ),,thankfully it only stayed 2 days ,, (and I love dogs ) but I would defenetly recommend this hotel,,,,one other thing ,,it does have a good shuttle service to universal till 8pm ,,by arrangement but after that 3 late night pick up times are on ''first come first served basies (my teens had no problem with that )wet and wild is across the road BUT their pool is so nice we didn't want to go to W/W( and always plenty of chairs and towels ),,i would have liked a shuttle to Disneyworld (even to pay ) but it doesn't go that far so we had to drive our teens in the morning and pick up LATE at NIGHT it would have really been very convenient to get them on a shuttle,,, and cab there is $ 40 each way and xmas morning (because of an incedent in Disney world ) we was in line for an hour so imagen if we had been in a cab ,,all in all yes I would go back ...happy holiday

« Great location, bad experience. »

We booked it online, it was quick and painless. Location was great, we were arriving late and they offered a 24hr front desk. We got to our room and it was not the king bed standard room we booked. It had 2 twin beds. Went back down with all of our stuff and front desk clerk said they had no king bed rooms available except 1 on the first floor. We went to our new room and it was not ok but it was 2 am and we were too tired to argue. We got a room that was being converted to be accessible for people with a disability. It almost had no furniture except the bed, a nightstand and the TV. The shower had no curtain. To make matters worse at 6am we had people knocking on our door asking at what time we were leaving as they had to finish maintenance work in our room. This happened again at 8am, 9am, 10:30 am until we finally left. Please note water and coffee in room are NOT free and breakfast is not included.

« Christmas Vacay in Orlando »

Our trip started well from the moment we walked into the hotel!! The receptionist, Dianna, was the best! She made sure we were well accommodated and gave us all the info needed to make a trip easier! We stayed on the 8th floor with a great view of Wet n' Wild and the Orlando Eye! Everyone was helpful and the hotel was well maintained! I'll definitely stay there again!

    « CAUTION!! Hidden fees! »

This is just an ok hotel. When we walked into our room there was some bottled water with a note. I thought how nice, complementary water.....NOPE it's avaiable for you to purchase for a small fee of $2.95 plus tax! The beds were hard. They tack on a hidden "service" fee of $4.50 per day for ridiculous things such as self parking, "free" WiFi, and use of hotel amenities.....like the pool...After the second use of the TV it stopped working and I cannot get ahold of the front desk to send someone to fix it. The location was very good though. Close to everything. That was probably the only thing I was happy about at this hotel. If I come to Orlando again however I will not be staying here. I have stayed in lower end hotel chains and had better overall satisfaction. I would rather spend more money up front then be blindsided by hidden added extra charges.

« Value for Money higher than a 5 star »

Its a value for money & comfortable hotel in every sense. Stayed here for 3 nights. Room amenities & maintenance was good with comfortable beds. But i think they need to little bit work on smell of the room to make it more fresher.Room had Coffee machine and good coffee assortment to chose from, Mini fridge, microwave, free wifi, TV (though remote was working properly) & toiletries. Ice & Soda vending machines are on each floor.I found the reception staff to be really helpful and polite. They explained entire layout of place and gave helpful tips to travel. They helped me with print outs many times. They have a small bar & dining place on ground level, but i did not try it. There is a small grocery kind of shop too from where one can pick snacks & fresh sandwiches. i got custom made sandwiches few times & they were good! Hotel is around 15-18mins away Magic kingdom & around 20mins from airport.

    « PEST control issue »

Service are good. Food are good. Location is good as well. However they have pest control issues. I got serious bug bites during my stay. Those rashes on my leg make me cannot even walk with long pants now. I saw a lot of bugs after I move in but I didn't know they bite since I don't recognize them. Indeed I first thought it might be my allergy until I met with my doctor today. She is very sure they are bug bites. Now after some research, I think those bugs might be flea. I have videos and pictures captured.

We had an excellent time at the hotel. Breakfast was nice, good selection. We used the pool and the hot tub which was fun! Staff was helpful and friendly. Great location, super close to the popular attractions. Rooms were clean. I highly recommend this hotel.

« great price; very clean and comfortable »

I was very surprised as to the accomodations considering the price we were paying. This definitely felt up to par with some of my other favorite hotels, like Hampton Inn. I'd definitely recommend it, especially for families looking for "cheaper" accomodations while visiting the orlando sites. Note: Couldn't stand waiting for the "free" shuttles. We decided on a taxi. It's better to call your own than let the hotel call you one. They have a flat rate or $10, where as a normal taxi to Universal was closer to $6.

« Worst Check In Experience »

We called to confirm our reservation with hotel since we would be in late. No problem they said. We arrive and we did not get the room we reserved. Had to argue for an hour at 1AM IN THE MORNING to finally get a room. We did not get in the room until 2AM. Absolutely stressful and ridiculous.

Overall, it is pretty good. The shuttle to the theme parks are one per hour and if you missed one, you have to wait another hour. Also there are limited seats on the shuttle, I have to wait for the next one due to no seats available. It is a bit annoying, especially you are trying to arrive the park early in the morning.

« Very Nice Weekend Get Away »

I got the hotel at a discount so I'm not sure about their regular price. I was disappointed that they did not have very complimentary options. The breakfast was 25 dollars for pancakes and sausage but the hotel itself was very clean and in a popular location.

« Wonderful home away from home »

A lovely home to visit when on holidays. Rooms are very clean, and very well appointed. I had an excellent view on the 8th floor over looking the beautiful pool. Very quiet too! Each and every staff member treated me as if I were a guest in their own home. All were pleasant, polite, friendly, sincere and engaging in conversation. I only wish the internet was a little more stable. But that was just an inconvenience during two Skype calls. Other than that, the free WiFi works throughout the property. Location? Easy in and out access, and close to everything! Excellent value. Enjoy your visit!

« Staff great! Property NOT! »

I booked this hotel through priceline for three nights, My boyfriend was playing a golf tournament at Disney. I chose b/c they are pet friendly at $20 a night, The first night I was placed in a 1st floor room next to the door, which was great for the dogs. We tried to go to bed early, but the walls were very thin and you could hear every door slamming even with a fan running and ear plugs. The next night around 9pm the ceiling above the bath tub started to bulge and leak water. We then had to move our things to the 3rd floor. The room on the 3rd floor smelled of listerine and mold. I was never offered any compensation for my inconvenience. I had to ask..which they did give me free breakfast. Oh and there is a great view in 309 out the window...a dead anhinga bird on roof. Oh and they tell you WIFI is free, but you get charged a mysterious "resort fee" that includes wifi. Besides the hotel, the staff is very helpful and friendly. There is also sidewalks everywhere to walk your dog.

« Between Seaworld and Universal »

We stayed here when doing the Christmas shows at Seaworld one day and Universal the next! The location was perfect. I had a promotional gift card from Best Western that said to present upon check in. The young man that checked me in told me I had to present it when I checked out. That then meant I could not do a quick check out. Our room was clean, comfortable, and quiet! We even had towel swans which was a nice touch. When I went to check out Rita was very helpful in applying my gift card. She apologized that it had not been taken the night before. She was very friendly. It is disappointing that they did not have a free breakfast like most Best Westerns but I would stay again.

The customer service at this hotel is wonderful! Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. The breakfast is fantastic and so much more that expected. The rooms are VERY clean and the view from our room was of Universal and Wet N Wild. This hotel is only 1 mile from Universal and offers a free shuttle. The only thing is that the beds are double beds and we are used to a king. However, for the price, we managed with a smaller bed. Don't be shy about booking this hotel! It is a GREAT value!!!

I wanted to take the chance to use my BW EP rate. and stay with my family the night of our trip that way we can relax and enjoy HHN 25 without having to worry about driving back home the same night... This hotel had everything I need and then some honestly. the room was great! The staff was quick and awesome with service. Breakfast was amazing. And the Bonus about the place was the game room down stairs was great to me and my brother it honestly brought us back to our child hood while we waited for the shuttle to the park which leads me to my next great thing about the place was the free shuttle to the park. even though the shuttle doesn't run during the closing hours of the park... still it was awesome. This fellow Best Western pass my scale. I would love to come back next year during HHN again.

This hotel is very good with good facilities. The hotel room is very big and has a lot of comfort. The front desk is also gentle and well informed. The breakfast is typical for the country but not sophisticated. There are many places to eat out nearby.

« You get what you pay for »

We stayed at this hotel for one reason only. The price. We booked via Expedia and got a clean room in a well situated location near to Universal studios and International Drive It's not the best hotel by any means but neither is it the worst Plus points are the free shuttle to the two universal parks which will save you the hassle of driving and the $20 daily parking fee We got reduced price entry for sitting through a 2 hour timeshare presentation organised by a man sat in guest services. Beware if you do the same because despite reassurances that this is not a hard sell. It is!! Be resolute however and you will get discounted tickets The hotel reception is ok the staff seemed quite curt but that's ok they probably have to deal with difficult customers Amenities in the room include microwave TV soaps iron and a fridge It's not luxury but your not paying for that

« Best place to stay regardless of cost »

This Best Western is hands down the best value for your money. Great location, super friendly staff, extra clean rooms, and a nice restaurant in house with great food. Look no where else. Book today and stop trying to find a better place at a better price. You won't be disappointed.

    « First Orlando Trip »

Great location. Great customer service front desk rep was really handsome. Room was great for the weekend, microwave and refrigerator in the room, store and restaurant in the hotel. I will come back here. Close to restaurants, clubs, and shopping. Right off the interstate. One hour complimentary late check out.

    « pretty good »

nice place, nice staff, helpfull, did not run into any kind of problem during a 9 nights stay, would recommand to anyone visiting Olrlando area, not too expensive. Breakfast buffet is average, but that's the only thing I would say about this place.

    4
    « Decent hotel »

Stayed here simply as a stop over. Great staff, clean room, nice place. You do have to drive to the attractions and restaurants at Orlando on international Blvd though, it's probably a bit too far to walk. Other than that I would recommend.

First room had unacceptable odor. Second room a/c did not work. Shortened our stay from 2 nights to one. Flyers lay on floor and in doorway to room for pizza delivery places. making the hallways look trashy. Beer glasses dirty in bar.

    « Nice hotel »

I had never stayed at this location as we were trying to stay closer to University of Central Florida. Since we were using points, I only had enough for this hotel site, but I have to say it was a pleasant, comfortable and nice place to stay. The employees were all very friendly and the area was great!

« Honeymoon disaster (universal vacation) »

We stayed at this hotel because of the rating and booking from the universal agent at universal studios. They said that this was a great location from the universal park which it was but the room was supposed to be a beautiful suite. Much to my fiancé eyes and mine we were very decieved upon the room. We get into our room which we payed an expensive price for and the bed is against the wall and the tv is about 30 feet from our bed. We werent able to turn on the tv , nore change channels beeying at the distance we were at. To our right hand side , we had a huge space which could fit a pool but was just left empty and wires running through the wall.Very unprofessional and not welcoming, we had no windows inside our room and felt as if we were staying in a cage. Our bathroom door opened so wide that it would allow more than one person at a time to either shower or brush their teeth. Overall price and satisfaction i would go some other place else. Here are the pictures to prove it, enjoy.

the room was great very nice the staff was good but I was upset that I had to pay extra for breakfast and parking I don't think I ever had to pay for that ,and they said it was only 7.95 if you pay in advance if not it would be 9.95 ,I kept waking up the a/c was noisy when it kicked on

    « A Good Option »

The Hotel was very nice, I was only there for one night but I had no complaints. The check in process was very easy and fast, the room was comfortable and clean and the location is ok. The staff allowed us to use the facilities on site (pool, gym, basketball court) even though we had checked out. The basketball court was a nice feature, as I have been on the road for some time and no other venue has provided this.

« Decent Hotel, Good Location »

I booked three rooms (suites) in this hotel. At check-in they said they didn't have suites available but shortly found them when they put the correct names in the system. Rooms were spacious but very dated. Pillows were horrible, bed comfort seemed fine at first but I woke up almost unable to walk, possibly due to the pillows but unsure. Bathrooms were laid out nicely and shower had good pressure. Pull out sofa was so bad that the kids had to lay on the couch cushions on the floor to sleep. Has food store downstairs with a decent selection of drinks and makes sandwiches, but I paid $40 for 4 sandwiches and was just small with no sides or chips or drink or anything. There was restaurant/bar there but was closed for some reason. Fine accommodations for one night but I wouldn't stay here long term with the other nicer places in the same area.

    « Great budget hotel »

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at the end of September. The hotel was in a great location, only 5 minutes away from universal studios and within 15 minutes of everything else we did in that 5 days which was really useful. We could get to the outlet mall in about 10 minutes too which was useful as we had a couple of trips there. We had a king room that was really spacious although the bathroom was a bit of a tight squeeze, the shower was nice and powerful though which was nice. The pool area was nice and quiet and I liked the hot tub area which was only for adults. We really loved that they had laundry facilities as we had been travelling for over 2 weeks at this point and they were really useful, the shop stocked everything we needed at short notice too. All in all a really good trip and excellent value.

« Comfortable and Affordable, Great Value »

This hotel had very friendly staff who wanted to make sure that we enjoyed our stay and had everything we need. Our room was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The hotel has clearly been kept up with and we were very happy with our stay.

    « A Comfortable stay »

We enjoyed ur stay here.. Got one of the fancy suites , was huge, comfortable with a good view of the expressway and glimpse of the universal studios park.. Bed was super comfortable too. Good swimming pool and gym access. Best thing is, its closest to the great Universal Studios Adventure Park, that you can reach there by walking !!! We enjoyed walking to the Park on our 4 days there, always breezy and so full of activity !! Good restaurants in the vicinity too .. Definitely would recommend this to all :)

    « Loved it »

Very very close, great staff, great room. Loved the decent priced room service and large buffet. I wish the bar was open earlier. And if they tell you Uber has to pay $20 extra dollars to drive to the park, this is not true. It was a 5-6 dollar ride to and from Universal, and $13 to epcot. So definitely use Uber over the Taxis if you miss the shuttle. Pillows were the worst things ever, bring your own.

    « Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo »

Unbelievable the manager accused us of smoking marijuana when it was really the people next to our hotel room charged us $250 anything I can do to make sure this doesn't happen to somebody else $250 is a lot of money. The manager was uncooperative and rude. Guess they just want to take advantage of their guests. I really wanted to give this place a chance, but honestly don't waste you time. There are better hotels in the area. By the way the managers name is Bill Jones least that's what he told me.

« Very Pleased with our stay »

We stayed for 5 nights and were very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel and rooms, friendliness of the staff and over all experience. The hotel provided transportation to all the sights we were booked to see and offered a very proficient taxi service for the one time we needed it. There were many places to see within walking distance and we were able to play tennis, basketball and swim at the hotel in our free time. I would definitely stay there again with my family.

    3
« Average hotel great location »

Stayed here as it gave me a great base to explore all theme parks and within walking distance to both universal parks. Hotel is a little tired with furniture showing its age. Every night I came back to my room to find a bunch of flyers for local takeaways shoved under the door which means anybody could be walking around the place.

    « Felt Like Celebrities! »

Eric & Jorge did the impossible by getting us in on the busiest time of the year during Halloween Horror Nights weekend at Universal. There was a glitch in the system that made us think we had a room booked however when we checked in it was not the case we had actually booked for a totally different date. The front desk staff helped us for almost an hour to search for an available room, gave us waters while we waited and even offered to bring our bags to our room personally. They found a room not in the system from a late checkout and gave us the lower rate we booked online (almost $50 less!). They also offered us free breakfast buffet and the list goes on. Exceptional staff, clean hotel, very convenient to the parks.

« I would give this a ZERO if possible! »

This was a terrible experience! Took my wife to Orlando and booked this hotel after seeing its location to Universal Studios. Because we were driving in and did not arrive until late, they gave away our King room to someone else, and my wife and I were forced to take a room with two double beds that smelled TERRIBLE! We tried to just get a refund to go somewhere else and they refused. Not only that, as we were checking in, there was a shooting and about 20 police officers right in front of the hotel! Absolutely the WORST 3-Star hotel, EVER!!!! Would absolutely recommend going ANYWHERE else!!!

« Great hotel if going to Universal Orlando! »

This hotel is great if you're going to the Universal area. Cab ride to the parks cost six dollars and sixty cents! Staff is friendly and helpful! Rooms are clean and comfy; however, our room had some black substance on the roof (not sure if it was mold or what). Booked our night on hotwire site for less than fourty bucks a night but when trying to add more nights they were charging upwards of one hundred ninety eight dollars a night.

« Nice hotel, every one made my stay very nice »

Good to go to Halloween horror nights, it right near the park. Nice stay, would have like free coffee in lobby to get a bigger cup. I enjoyed the hot tub and needed it to stay open later, like after the park closes so we could work out the kinks of walking. It seems like its is far enough away from rooms and not cause a noise problem. Clean and pleasant staff. Overall I would stay there again.

« Perfect for Universal studios »

This place was perfect for the price if you're going to Universal (I had no interest in Disney so I can't speak for location with regard to there). Great facilities, lovely staff, reliable shuttle to parks, very clean and big room. Really couldn't ask for more to be honest- I don't have anything negative. Right across road from Wet n Wild too. You can actually walk to Universal if you miss a shuttle, it's about 20 mins, but wouldn't recommend if you have little kids.

    4
« Nice place to stay »

The hotel was very clean and welcoming, only issue was the shower was hard to pull out to get the water running, cold hot operation worked fine just hard to pull out. The room over all was nice and staff was friendly.

    5
« Close to Universal - great stay »

Close to Universal, excellent location and stay. We had sutie and there was a slot of room, more than we needed. The proximity was what drove us here, as well as condition of the property. Great place to relax after a day at Unniversal

« Good place to stay »

Got it on Priceline for $50 for a Sunday night. We went for HHN at Universal Studios. About 25-30 minute walk to Universal Studios from the hotel. Be careful when walking back at night. There is a sidewalk the whole way but you do have to walk past some on-ramps and a major intersection. The hotel is standard, clean, and quiet. Our view was the parking lot. We just slept there and left so we didn't care. Really, the clean part is what most seek when getting a place. This fit the bill. So this hotel met the three things we were looking for: reasonable price, clean, and close enough to walk to Universal. Hope this helps.

    « Wonderful Staff! »

We had a weekend away without our son at Universal. We decided to stay here b/c we're Rewards Members. We were upgraded to the beautiful King Suite on the top floor, and Lizzy gave us two vouchers for the breakfast buffet the morning we left. They honored my request of more pillows and coffee, which were ready in the room before we got there. The only issue was the vending and ice machines on the 7th floor were not working at all. Not the end of the world to go to a different floor, just a massive inconvenience. Will definitely be returning to this BW!

    « Buffet Lunch »

This review is for the buffet lunch - a group of us had the buffet lunch & we all enjoyed it. There was a good selection of food & it all tasted nice & fresh & the service was good. Great value for money. The restrooms were abit grubby though, the place could do with a refurb. Would eat in here again.

« Very helpful and polite! »

Managed to upgrade my room just so I could avoid waiting for check in time! The staff were always friendly and inviting, never a frown in sight! Would definitely go back again for sure! Only problem I had was when the maid service came through, they didnt put back the blankets, but it was quickly resolved with blankets fresh from the dryer and press!

    « Very Poor Quality »

The pictures of this hotel are deceiving. This hotel is drabby and smells like air-freshner disguising smoke. There is absolutely no parking if you get to the hotel after 7:00pm. And don't expect to have a comfortable bed or pillows. If you are looking for proximity to Universal Studios or Disney, you are better off spending a few more dollars to stay on-site.

« Get at good deal on it at least »

Rather old decor. Kinda stingy with the hot water in the shower (I like my showers hot) Internet kinda spotty (wifi) and the Business Center computers were running Linux. With very outdated browser versions. Some sites wouldn't work without updating. No free breakfast. Good value in a pinch I suppose.

« Nice hotel and good location from Universal »

Stayed the night here while going to HHN 25 in Universal Studios. The staff was very friendly. Overall the room was spacious and clean. We were right alongside the pool which was nice and clean. There is a covered patio area with outdoor furntiure that the cushiosn could be cleaner but nice to escape the sun. The pool is a very nice size and the 2 hottubs were set back behind pool area which was different and nice. We did eat at their restaurant where nightly there are drink and food specials. We were surprised by how good the food was. Had the mahi tacos and coconut shrimp both were great. The best feature for us was the shuttle that dropped you off certain times in the Am and PM to and from Universal Park. Would stay there again. Offered late check out at noon which was pretty awesome too although cleaning ladies were loud in the am outside the halls.

    « Great Location »

Our recent 4 night stay here was good. It's fairly cheap and in a great location for Universal and International Drive so I'd recommend it for that alone. It's very close to Wet and Wild - you could walk there if you're going. Staff were efficient and friendly. We did the online express check-in, so it was really quick when we got to the reception. We didn't use the restaurant, but we had a couple of drinks in the bar. We were the only ones in; it was a quiet night. I'd definitely recommend this highly if you're looking for a budget hotel, in an excellent location.

    « Another great stay! »

This was our 3rd stay here and we had another positive experience. Initially we reserved at a neighboring hotel and had a horrible experience (hotel was disgusting). I called Best Western's front desk asking if we would be able to check in and what their rates are (it was 1am). The staff member was extremely friendly and accommodating.

    « What I expected »

I stayed at the Best Western Orlando Gateway for a three day vacation at Universal Studios. It was just what I expected. Staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable. There are probably much fancier places to stay but my main concern was staying somewhere that was reasonably priced as most of my time would be spent at Universal. The shuttle to Universal was very useful and I had no problems with it. I will say that I was a bit surprised that breakfast wasn't complimentary; my mother commented that she was surprised as well as she had thought all Best Westerns had complimentary breakfasts. The staff were very friendly and that is always a plus. Overall I had a great vacation and I was happy with my stay.

« Good hotel, very close to wet n wild and Florida mall. »

We went to Wet n Wild for the morning and the 2 min walk to this hotel made it really easy to use for our plans for that day. We could get a very cheap bus to the mall as well for $2 each, a cheap Uber to the Mall/other shops and also a pretty good sports bar we went to. It's pretty close to Universal Studios as well because I could see the tip of Hogwarts Castle from our room on the 6th floor. The room was good, we didn't spent much time in there and left really early as well so I don't know if any breakfast was provided with the room and if that was any good if there was. The WIFI was phone for using whats app/instagram etc on our phones too. Top place!

    « Another Fab stay »

We stayed here 18th Sept - 2nd Oct 2015 and this was our 6th stay at this hotel. We booked direct with the hotel from the UK and got a great deal (thank you Rita) and had another great stay. We had a poolside room (thank you Tania) which was fab and we made daily use of the pool and Jacuzzi . I recommend this hotel, it is clean and it has the most comfortable beds we have slept in, the rooms are made up daily and have free wi-fi (good speed) and the staff are friendly and helpful, this hotel cares about their guests. Everything you need is here, there is a shop, bar and restaurant that serves a fully cooked breakfast (at an additional cost), a coin operated laundry and there is ample free car parking. The hotel is situated across the road from the Wet and Wild lake just off I-Drive with plenty of eateries within walking distance. We will be booking to stay here on our next visit. Thank you to all the staff. Simon & Claire

Hotel was a bit dated but has a great location near many attractions, restaurants, and easy access to the freeway. The staff were helpful and friendly, and always willing to help. Property has many nice features, including a pool, tennis courts, and exercise room. Over all it is a very good value.

« Are you kidding? Never again! »

Reserved a room with a King bed over 2 months ago. When we arrived after our 5-hour flight I was told there was none available- all they had available was a room with 2 double beds. Gee, thanks- glad I made the reservation way in advance. When we hauled ourselves to where they stuck us we got a musty smelling room, a TV that cut the top and bottom off of the picture with no way to fix it, a noisy basketball court used by locals 12 hours a day right under our window, a bedsheet with a tear in it and a shower that had no adjustments- either scalding or just plain hot with a extremely reduced flow. As a Diamond member of Best Western I was absolutely astonished that they would put guests into a dismal room like that. Absolutely ridiculous. There were some redeeming qualities: it was convenient to restaurants, freeways and shopping, had a very friendly staff in general, a shuttle service to Universal and a small restaurant on the premises with a little convenience store where you could get ice cream and/or snacks. That's why this review gets the upgrade: 2 stars instead of one.

« Not amazing but more than adequate! »

The hotel wasn't impressive but more than adequate. Stayed in a suite that was kindly upgraded for me by the wonderful Lizzie and the suite was actually great! It was old and outdated a bit but clean and sizable. Only stayed for one night and was more than suffice for that. Lizzie and Orlando were at the front desk and helped us out when we originally had a smelly room. They get a thumbs up from me!
