    « Pleasant stay »

We stayed here whilst on business. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Breakfast choice was wide ranging and well presented. Good location for the airport although wandering alone in the area is not well advised at night time.

    « Enjoyable Stay »

We recently stayed at this hotel for a business trip. We stayed in a king room facing the Bay. The room was nicely appointed, and surprisingly quiet given that it was off a busy freeway. There's also a very nice walking paths along the water and harbor.

« Business Trip With a Perfect Place to Stay »

This is a GEM, along the water, close to 880 and with great staff. Breakfast, coffee and fruit during the day exceeded my expectations. Shuttle services to Jack London Sq , a real plus with many roads under construction detours, so I didnt have to worry about driving around. The balcony room was spacious, very comfortable and without a doubt I would stay again! Thanks to the GM and the staff for an excellent stay. Certainly met the #1 hotel in Oakland expectation.

    « EXCELLENT STAY »

Everything from the check in to the express check out was absolutely wonderful. They assisted us in taking us in the shuttle to the best places to eat , fairy, mall. It was a great experience overall. We will definitely come back and stay longer next time.

« Leading the industry in the delivery of superior customer care! »

This property is in great condition. Very well maintained. Christopher did an outstanding job checking us in and was knowledgable about the property and area. Great asset to the team ! Will definitely return and would recommend this property to all my friends and family. Well worth the money.

« Good hotel with a Bayside view »

Any hotel 'in the city' will charge you an arm and a leg for parking, and since we were driving from SoCal we were looking for a place with easy access to San Francisco. This Best western looked as it was recently renovated, with a big parking lot and close to the I-880. With light traffic you'll get into SF in about 20-23 mins by car. Breakfast is basic, keep in mind that this is a limited-service hotel, therefore there are no restaurant or banquet service (or bar). If you want to eat something they will suggest you to walk to an hotel nearby and order either a salmon or a steak with mashed potatoes for 16 bucks. Although you can have free internet, it's painfully slow. This needs to be improved. Signal is OK, so they need to get a bigger circuit.

« Great Family Hotel for an Early Morning Flight »

We ended a long California vacation spending the night here before our flight. We had a great view of the bay and the kiddos enjoyed the nice Bayside Park and the pool. Great breakfast in the morning and very strong wifi. A little pricey!

    « Great waterfront spot »

We picked this hotel almost randomly and were very happy with it. Got a huge room with king bed, sofa, and easy chair, microwave, fridge, large shower and tub. All very clean nice breakfast with an egg choice, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, breads, donuts, bagels, multiple coffee forms, juices, etc. Very accommodating staff. Ft tee shuttle to Jack London Sq, Bart, and airport. Many rooms overlook inlet with some boats berthed.

« Excellent Service from all Staff »

We were staying at this hotel for the Dreamforce Conference. The staff were so helpful and ensured we had all we needed like taxis, transfers, directions on how to get to the boat transfer. The hotel was clean, and spacious. Being outside of San Francisco was not a problem as the transport links were excellent, I would recommend this hotel if you want to leave the city noise behind you and get a good night sleep then join the fun the next day!

« Staff at the Best Western Plus Bayside Motel --My "Home" away from home »

The staff are super starting with Jay Consuelo the manger; Vanessa a Supervisor, Basir, Chris, Ann Marie to mention the front desk staff; then we have the super positive Gabby, single handley managing the breakfast crowd, Angel and his buddy in Maintenance, Lourdus managing housekeeping. I have been staying here three days a week for three years. The staff are efficient, smart and very pleasant. The property overlooks the bay and is clean and comfortable. There is also a shout out to Mike the General Manger (? the title) aka big shot who is positive, with a smile and weel liked by staff.

« The Reason This is the Number 1 Hotel in Oakland is Very Apparent! »

Excellent location 10 seconds off a busy highway, yet peacefully situated on a beautiful waterway. Excellent value, could easily charge 50% more and it would still be a great value. Large, well appointed rooms that are immaculate, and did I mention the view across the water? Really enjoyed a beautiful sunset seated on the water just outside my room! Staff? First class, truly the best. Anne Marie at the front desk was awesome! Love this place, it will be home for me whenever I stay in Oakland in the future!

    « Oakland, California's Absolute Best!! »

Everyone was outstanding and being raised in Oakland, we were shocked that such a wonderful hotel was in Oakland. It was outstanding and I would return and highly recommend it to anyone. The rooms were spacious, the staff outstanding and kind, the views of the water to die for (looks like it is just outside one's door but there is either a balcony or a small patio with grass between your spot and the public walkway beside the water. The breakfasts were nice with choices of 2 types of eggs, cereals, meats, waffles, yogurt, juices, fresh fruit, toast, baggles to name just some of what they offered in a dinning room with walls of glass overlooking the water of the estuary while the ducks, pelicans or scull boat rowers went by. Two restaurants are within walking distance for lunch and dinners.... and Scotts Seafood is a short drive away at Jack London's Square. We would, definitely go back if ever in Oakland, again!!!!!

« A quiet oasis close to the freeway »

We were looking for a hotel that was close to the Cal Berkeley Campus. All of the downtown ones were full, so we started looking farther away. We made the reservation based on a relative's recommendation, and were delightfully pleased. The hotel is less than 100 yards from the 880 freeway, but you do not know that it even exists once you are in the building. The lounge are is nicely decorated, with a beautiful view of the water. The hotel staff is quick, efficient and wonderfully attentive. The room had a patio that overlooked the water and had a paved walking path next to it. It was very pleasant and peaceful. We asked for wine glasses from the desk, and they were delivered in less than 5 minutes. We had planned to drive to the BART station, but were informed that a free shuttle would take us there when we wanted to go. A phone call would get us back to the hotel. The bath facilities were fine with a shower and a separate jetted tub. Two different newspapers were available in the lobby in the morning. The coffee was great, and the free breakfast was more than passable.

« We had a great stay at this hotel »

My husband and I travelled to San Fran for our wedding anniversary and found the price of a hotel in downtown San Fran was so expensive. I found this hotel in Oakland at a much better price and with great access to the BART or the Ferry. We stayed for four nights and used the FREE shuttle service every day to get from the BART station or the Ferry (tip - book the day before or the shuttle might be full at the time you need it). The front desk staff is VERY helpful so even if the shuttle is full talk to them they will help you find an alternate solution. We initially planned on taking the BART to San Fran until one of them suggested the Ferry, which was AWESOME! It was way more enjoyable to enjoy the sun and scenery instead of squishing into the BART and travelling underground. Of course the BART is cheaper, but we thought the extra cost for the Ferry was worth it and you could get off right at Pier 39 right in the middle of all the action! This hotel is modern, with nice views of the bay. It is clean and very comfortable. The breakfast area is nice, with a view of the water. I honestly can't say enough nice things about the front desk staff they were very helpful and very friendly. They shuttle drivers were also very helpful and friendly! We will stay at this hotel again if we ever get the chance, I highly recommend it.

Perfect stay .Well managed, large clean rooms, wonderful breakfast, complimentary coffee, fruit, newspapers. All around an excellent experience. Great value. Will definitely be staying here again next time we're in Oakland !

    « Great Stay »

Loved the room (288) they gave us- large room with 2 beds, a couch, a chair and a balcony. Really great bathroom with a stand up shower and a tub. The toilet was in a separate "closet". My son (14 years old), who was with me for this trip, was overwhelmed at how cool the room was. 2 miles from Oracle arena so it was a piece of cake to drive to the Kanye concert.

    « Beautiful views »

We stayed here just to be close to Jack London Square and near the water. Price was reasonable and room was very nicely set up. Make sure to pay the extra for a room with a water view, the other side of the hotel view is a busy highway. My only complaint was that there was no restaurant in the hotel and nothing within walking distance. Overall I enjoyed my stay and would stay here again while visiting Oakland.

« Best Hotel Near Oak Airport »

Rooms are well appointed and clean, the shuttle is dependable, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The major selling point, however, is the walking path behind the hotel, on the water, as well as the balconies outside of the rooms. Definitely worth it to pay a little more for a water view room.

    4
    « Helpful Staff »

Room was clean and a good size with lovely view over the lake. Breakfast was very basic and for the price paid for the room I expected real crockery- not paper. The Shuttle was excellent and front desk staff was extremely helpful.

« Best room of our 2 week trip... »

Fire place in living area with special log ready to light and we did! Large Jacuzzi tub in living area, rooms very spacious. View from our balcony of ocean and great setting for romantic get away. Excellent restaurant just up the road, moderately priced with great service and a view of 'Face Rock'. Although the weather was wet & windy, we enjoyed our stay! Only negative is that no ramp but stairs outdoor to navigate w/ luggage to your room. Very quiet too:) I would love to visit again sometime when weather is better.

« Rainy day by the bay »

Excellent hotel in a beautiful location overlooking the estuary. Friendly and efficient hotel staff and the room was very private, quiet and comfortable. No restaurant in hotel but the sister hotel next door offered a choice of salmon or steak dinner grilled on the spot even in the rain and it was excellent. Mashed potatoes and salad included.

    5
    « Fine Hotel! »

We chose this hotel because of its #1 rating with TripAdvisor, and were not disappointed. Good breakfasts are included and the staff is most helpful. Convenient to Quinn's Lighthouse restaurant and Enterprise car rental.

« Bayside Excellence In Oakland »

I first stayed in this wonderful hotel over three years ago. We had a large wedding party that were all given great rooms including great service and great pricing. The manager, Jay, is exceptional but the staff are also very polite and helpful, too. The views, location and overall ambience are excellent. I refer everyone I know to this lovely property.

    « Awesome Hotel! »

We had a Bayside room and the view was gorgeous. The bed was very comfy and you had plenty of options when it came to a pillow. The bathroom was my favorite. The toilet is actually a separate room from where the sink, shower and bathtub are. Also the shower and bathtub were separate and that was awesome. The tub was huge! The breakfast was amazing and plenty of food and options to fill up on. They were really good on making sure nothing ran out and everything was full. The housekeeping did a good job of usually getting into our room while we were at breakfast and by the time we were back they were done. They were very quick and did a great job. The only down fall was having to get our key card rescanned every day. It was an inconvenience but not that big of deal. We didn't have it by our cell phones or credit cards or anything. We would definitely come back in a heartbeat!

    4
« Excellent room and great staff »

This hotel offered a very commodious room with separate tub and shower. We chose a balcony room on the estuary side. It was very pleasant. The other side of the hotel could only offer freeway views. Breakfast, parking, and all day coffee/tea service is included, as well as microwave and refrigerator in the room. The staff were all friendly and very willing to fulfill any requests. It is a bit out of the way since the close by bridge to downtown Oakland is closed for repairs. However, Uber fares from the center of the business district are only about $7.

« Elegant hotel and great value »

My adult daughter and I stayed for the weekend to see old friends and the Giants game. This is the first time I have stayed at this hotel though I have stayed at other nearby hotels. This Best Western is top notch! From a warm welcome greeting at check-in with a great suggestion for a late dinner, the staff are friendly and accommodating. The hotel is elegant and beautiful, with a very nice breakfast and our room was spotless and beautiful. We had a lovely view of the waterfront estuary with walking paths just steps from our room. The location is convenient to downtown Oakland, San Francisco, Alameda and the Oakland airport. We did not use the shuttle, but it appeared to be a great option for not renting a car next time. I would give this hotel top stars and this is where we will stay next time while in the Bay Area.

    « Affordable and Nice! »

I was a little reluctant to stay here when I saw where it was on the map - being so close to the Hwy 880. However, I found the hotel really nice, roomy and well kept. Also, the water views are really nice and you don't hear the highway noise! It's convenient to restaurants, a Starbucks a block away and decent amenities. I definitely stay here again and I liked the location better than Emeryville where a lot of chain hotels are.

« Clean, fresh and excellent location... »

1st trip to San Francisco Bay Area to visit our son and the Best Western Plus Bayside hotel is an excellent choice! The property is located on the water (on the Port of Oakland Estuary) with marinas on both sides, immaculately maintained and staffed by a gracious, helpful and welcoming team. A well-stocked and varied breakfast included with the room makes for a perfect start to the day. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, cappuccino and assorted other coffee blends are available 24 hours a day. Our room is immaculately clean, well appointed/decorated with FREE WiFi and coffee station in the room (in case it is not obvious thus far, this reviewer is big on good coffee ??). From our 3rd floor balcony there is an expansive view of marinas on both sides, city skylines in the distance and the hills beyond San Francisco Bay. Jay, at the front desk, is everything a property could hope for...friendly, helpful, informed and genuinely welcoming. The staff we have met thus far, from the breakfast staff to housekeeping and maintenance personnel are both a credit to "hospitality" as well as to the senior leadership of the property. Good attitudes and performance cannot be "mandated", only cultivated...kudos to all at the Best Western Plus Bayside.

    « Great stay »

We were doing a quick trip to Oakland for a baseball game. This hotel was close to the stadium. It's a beautiful, modern hotel with a fantastic view. You do need a car to get around although the hotel does provide a shuttle to public transportation and Jack London Square. Our room was extremely spacious with a spa like bathroom. Although it's next to a highway, we were in the back and it was very tranquil and quiet with a place to sit and look at the water view. The continental breakfast was outstanding! This is not a typical continental breakfast. They had fresh fruit, almond milk, huge varieties of teas, coffee, juices, pastries and hot items. plus coffee and tea 24 hours. They don't have a restaurant for dinner but recommended the next hotel where we had a fantastic steak/salmon dinner. There are no restaurants in walking distance but the meal was great and reasonable. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful during our stay. Definitely would stay here again!

« Welcoming smile at breakfast from Gabriela »

Great hotel, large rooms . We had a room on the Bay side and enjoyed sitting outside and enjoying the great view. this is the second time we have stayed, and will love to go again. Shuttle made getting to the Bart and the Ferry Terminal so easy. A highlight each morning was Gabriela in the breakfast room, she was so welcoming and obliging and nothing was a problem to her. Thank you Gabriela

    « Reunion with a View »

We attended my Mills College Reunion from 9/22/16 through 9/25/2016 & chose the Best Western Plus Bayside, one of the hotels that was recommended by the college. We had stayed at a Best Western Plus in Kingman, AZ and were very satisfied with the property. We chose a bayview room on the third floor that afforded a lovely view, free breakfast & access to the adjoining property's (Executive Inn) pool, bar & restaurant. Because the college provided shuttle service back & forth, we didn't have to drive to the Reunion activities. The hotel provides shuttle service to the Oakland Airport and Jack London Square. I highly recommend.

    « Nice hotel »

This was a nice place to stay. Ask for a room facing the bay. You can see the San Francisco skyline from the balcony of the room. We had a very nice room large enough for a table and chairs plus a sofa. There is a small walking path along the bay. There is a shopping mall within 10 min. of the hotel. This mall has a Safeway and restaurants plus many shops.

    5
« Charming hotel on the Water »

This is a charming hotel with beautiful views. The rooms are large and very nice. The breakfast was put out before 6am which was nice because we were leaving for a Dr.'s appointment and was able to take advantage of this. I was very satisfied with the food quality and presentation. I would return to this hotel if ever in need of a hotel in this area. There was no restaurants or stores close and it did take 1 1/2 to get over the bridge but upon return it was only 20 minutes. I loved this hotel.

    5
    « Great Staff »

Overall, fantastic experience at both Hotels, Bayside and Healdsburg! Very satisfied, especially with "The Bayside", can't wait to book my next trip to the Bay Area. The Staff and cleanliness make the difference! Regards, Matthew Tolos

    « Good Choice »

Stayed at this hotel two years ago and came back to it because of the great experience we had the first time. This property is very convenient to get to, right off the I-880 in Oakland. Much easier then staying in San Francisco and having to drive through the city to get to your hotel. The free shuttle to the Lake Merritt Bart station is a definite plus. The continental breakfast isn't the greatest but the hotel itself is an upper end BW Plus so I guess they have to skimp on something

    5
« Excellent Service and Room! »

My family and I went up to the bay area for an A's game, and chose to stay at Best Western Plus. We were given the option when we arrived, as to what room we wanted, which was great! They had excellent customer service and were very accommodating. Our room had a beautiful view, which made our stay even better. We joined the Rewards Club through them, because we will definitely be back to this hotel for any future trips!

    « Friends Night Out »

The Bayside was definitely a 10/10 experience. It was one of my most pleasant stay at any hotel ever! The scenery is nice, and the staff is nice, especially Chris. The beds were nicely made, the bathroom was However, parking can be hard sometimes. Overall, my stay was very wonderful, and I would stay here again.

    « A Great Experience1 »

This hotel when I first came in was extremely beautiful and looked so fancy I could not wait to get in. Even though me and my friends came in around 1 in the morning, one of the employees, Christopher, helped us with a smile on his face and made us feel welcome even so late at night. I enjoyed my stay there and would like to room there again.

    « Wedding Stay »

The Bayside offered the best accommodations looked at for my wedding party. We had asked for adjoining suites, but the separate suites for the bridal party worked out well. Besides proximity of accommodations to the venues, parking at the Bayside was another convenience for the wedding party.

    5
« Exceeded my expectations in every way! »

I was very pleasantly surprised when I arrived. Great shuttle service, huge lobby, very friendly staff, great breakfast, and easy access to virtually anywhere you want to go in Oakland. As a normal Marriott guy, I was very pleased.

    5
    « Labor Day Weekend »

We love Bayside! Amazing views and scenery. The front desk staff, especially Basir, was very accommodating as I had to make changes to my reservations twice! I will definitely stay here again when I'm in the Bay Area.

    « A Gem on the Bay »

Just a one night stay....the entire hotel was sparkling, refreshing and well serviced. The front desk staff was polished and just the right kind of friendly. The free breakfast was excellent with many tasty choices with an attentive staff. We needed a little later checkout with no problem. Indubitably a choice that will be re visited!

    5
« Beautiful and Spacious Rooms - Lots of Extras »

Stayed here two nights for my Husband's Birthday weekend. We had a spacious room overlooking the water. The front desk staff were very nice and helpful. The hotel offers a shuttle service that will take you to different locations including Jack London Square in Oakland so you can take the ferry to San Francisco/Pier 39. We didn't have to use our car the whole weekend! The Breakfast was also delicious and different both days so there was a variety to choose from. We will definitely be back!

    5
    « A secret gem »

Situated overlooking Oakland Bay with views of the San Francisco sky line (on a clear day) this is a little gem of a hotel. Well finished simple decor, comfy large family rooms, fair breakfast selection and for us 10 minutes drive (on free hotel shuttle bus) to the Oakland bay ferry for a 30 minute boat trip to San Francisco. There is a gym and shared pool (with the hotel next door). Alameda is 10 minutes drive south west of the hotel with shopping and restuarants and bars available. Only downside it is next to an interstate on one side, but with bay facing rooms on the other the road noise is not heard.

    5
« Wonderful place with a wonderful staff! »

This hotel is absolutely wonderful! The staff makes you feel at home and attend to every need! They go above and beyond to make sure you hate to leave... and look forward to coming back! It is clean, beautifully decorated and friendly. I would highly recommend this property and fully plan to stay again when visiting Oakland!

« BEST Night's Stay in the East Bay »

From making the in-house reservation with Vanessa to check-in with Luis to check-out with Basir, this place was great! Super clean & very comfortable spacious room, we had water view, stayed on bottom floor so we had access via a sliding glass door to the waterfront walking trail.....literally just outside our door! We had some special requests & they were all met before our arrival. Helpful staff that's very knowledgeable of the Bay Area. FREE PARKING HERE, close convenient! I paid $63.00 to park for one night last month at the Sheraton in SF. The complimentary breakfast is average but they serve until 10 AM & there is hot food too. This is a SUPER NICE place to stay in Oakland. We highly recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Highly Recommend! »

We stayed here this spring while visiting our daughter who lives nearby. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and quiet this hotel is even though it is on a major expressway. The waterfront balconies are quiet too. It is very comfortable and super-convenient to everything. The lobby area doubles as a meeting/ work area and is also where breakfast is served. It is bright and looks out over the water. The staff clearly take pride in their work. They ably manage the mix of business and tourist travelers. Based on our great experience this spring, we encouraged our friends and family stay here recently for our daughter's August 20th wedding in Oakland. Everything was perfect thanks to the excellent staff who went above and beyond on both visits. I highly recommend this hotel!

« Nice place to stay in Oakland »

This is a really nice hotel, large comfy room, great location. We were visiting family and although there were detours on Embarcadero, it was still easy to get around. Seems close to everything! We had a waterfront room on the 3rd floor, and even though it's right off the freeway it was very quiet, even with the deck slider open. Nice walking path along the estuary. Friendly staff, too. Recommended!

    « Great Location....Big Rooms »

Great location for taking the ferry over to San Fran for the day, then returning and going to an A's game! Rooms and bathroom were huge and clean. Front desk staff were spectacularly helpful. Breakfast was great. Always nice to see gluten free options...makes our life easier. A really pretty hotel to walk into.

    4
« Great place in Oakland »

Nice, clean and spacious room on ground floor. Room was cleaned while we had breakfast, tea and coffee bar available all day. Several geese visited during the day as the hotel is located next to the water. Free shuttle is a bonus but you have to book and limited seats. The shuttle can take you to the ferry to San Francisco which seemed to be a popular happening with the guests. If you get the shuttle into town, there is a free bus which goes up Broadway in a circuit.

    4
« Decent hotel in an expensive area »

Berkeley area on moving weekend - good luck finding decent lodging for a reasonable price. Yest, this hotel did it. Great service, a well-stocked breakfast, a gym with a ballet bar, bosu and exercise balls, and access to pool and jacuzzi - yeh, it's pretty good for the price.

    4
« Could have been a five but....... »

Absolutely a great stay. The shuttle service was very handy, starting with pickup at the airport. Based upon other reviews we had requested a bay side view room. We were there for a week and they gave us room 392 which I highly recommend. A corner room spacious and had a balcony, it is a top floor. Front staff were pleasant and were willing to share their knowledge of the area. Now for the missing star. The lobby breakfast (free) was a mess over the weekend we stayed there. dirty tables, messy food areas and overflowing waste containers. room temperature juices (no ice). Out of stock basics/staples. The "help" was totally lacking in her duties. I spoke to the front desk because I wanted to speak to someone in management but they were not available. The desk representative did his best and sent someone from house keeping to help. He said that I was not the only guest to complain. This is management problem that needs immediate attention. one other tip, keep the bathroom door closed at night, first night, someone filled there tub about 5:30 AM. When we closed the door at night we never heard another sound.

« Rooms were nice, but smelly »

Rooms are cleaned and deodorized with a heavily-scented product. If you have chemical sensitivities of any kind, you will not be able to handle it. I checked out three separate rooms hoping to find one that was not smelly. All were. Apparently, it is part of the cleaning process. Rooms on the side (partial bay view) are very close to the freeway and VERY noisy. Ask for a full bay view (back of hotel) room. Rooms are nicely appointment. Check in was quick and easy.

    « Really a very nice hotel/ great rooms/ great staff »

Great check-in experience. Basir was helpful and professional each time I interacted with him on phone and in person, at check-in, checkout Etc. Housekeeping staff was also very helpful, pleasant and thorough. Breakfast area was one of the nicest ones I've experienced at a best western as sometimes I've noticed they can be a little small and tight for seating. Not this one! The hotel is very nice, rooms are wonderful, spacious, with nice sized seating area with couch and chair near tv (HBO) , as well as a table with chairs for a meeting or dining area. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker, safe, vanity dressing area all outside of a large bathroom with hair dryer, separate tub, stall shower, separate toilet with door, - amazing room really! I had a non adjoining queen room with balcony with a lovely view overlooking the water / Oakland Marina area. Screen door/ glass door on balcony all had locks, worked well and were secure. There was a nice little walkway by the water. Freeway is close but on my side I heard no noise at all. One issue I will try to remember to ask about in the future really has nothing to do with the hotel: there is a LOT of construction on nearby streets and freeway on ramps exits Etc there along the Embarcadero area, 880 freeway Etc. This made for a lot of backtracking to try to get where I wanted to go each and every trip out. Again, this is not the hotel's issue, but might be a factor in hotel choice. Overall I enjoyed the hotel very, very much and would stay again.

« Pleasant and enjoyable place to stay! »

Staff was friendly! Especially the front desk were always eager to help out (especially Basir!) The breakfast in the mornings were substantial with a variety of options and the shuttle going to the BART station or ferry made going into San Fran very straightforward. Would highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting the Oakland/San Francisco area.

    « Very nice hotel »

This was my second time to the Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel and it was another great experience. I like the convenience of finding the hotel right off the freeway and not to far from Jack London Square. They have very nicely appointed rooms and some with patios that you will get a view of the embarcadero. The rooms are a great size and very nice bathroom with a soaking bathtub and walk-in shower. It also has a refrigerator, microwave and coffee machine. The beds were firm, but comfortable. Other accommodations are breakfast, healthy snacks and an expresso machine that is available all day. I would definitely make this one of my favorite places to stay in the Bay Area.

« pleasant Oakland waterfront hotel »

We were sightseeing in Oakland and San Francisco and found this to be a cheaper option to staying in San Francisco. Location on water side was nice and quiet and room was very large. Staff was helpful and breakfast was the typical BW breakfast, but slightly nicer. My only issues were that the bed was very hard and the room had very few lights, which is an issue if you plan to do any reading. There was a balcony overlooking the water, which was another plus.

« Great family room! Friendly staff! »

We stayed for 2 nights in a family room for 5 people. The room was really large and the bathroom had a separate shower and bath, The beds were comfortable and everything seemed clean. The view from our bay view room wasn't great, as there was rubbish dumped on the side of the lake, however, we were not in the hotel during the day, only to sleep, so this was not an issue. Staff arranged a courtesy taxi for us to catch a ferry over to San Fran. This worked really well and the trip over, was lovely! Staff advised us to ring the hotel on our return that evening, so that we could be collected at Oakland Pier and driven to the hotel. It couldn't have been easier and the driver was chatty and friendly. Breakfast at the Oakland Bayside is included in the price you pay. It is buffet style and we enjoyed the pastries and coffee. There is plenty of tea and coffee available all day. There are also yogurts, fruit, bacon etc, available for breakfast. Small issue with seating, as it's fairly limited, however, we did manage to get seated on both mornings. A good stay, particularly if you don't need to be in the centre of San Fran. The location was great for us, as we were road tripping along the coast.

    « above and beyond »

Our room was quiet and clean. Breakfast was great . The service was amazing. Basir, the desk manager, would always remember our names. How often does that happen????Then I called a few hours after we checked out. Basir himself went to our room to look and see if the item we had misplaced was maybe in our room. It turned out it got packed but just the fact he took the time, at that very moment, to run up there and look. Then he made sure that I called him back after we landed to let him know the item was found ...Needless to say were will return to the Best Western Bayside. In fact we have decided if all best westerns are that wonderful, we will never stay any where else....Thanks again , Basir!!!!!!!!!!!!

« Fantastic staff and beautiful hotel »

Stayed here in July as part of a large group of young people. The hotel is clean and beautiful inside, the rooms are huge and the facilities great. But what sets the hotel apart is the staff. Jay, Ann Marie, Chris and the rest went out of their way to help us with anything we needed. Honestly some of the best customer service I've ever received. The hotel is just off a massive freeway but the back of the hotel is right on the water and is beautiful. Would def return!

« Great Hotel, Very Clean »

This is a nice, clean, comfortable Hotel. We arrived late and were given a room on the ground floor. The door opened up to a Greenbelt on the bay. They had chairs and a small patio. Very relaxing after a long day. After a good night sleep we went to a nice breakfast served just off the lobby also with a nice view of the Greenbelt and Bay.

    « Highly recommend »

This was my first time at this hotel and was very impressed. "Vanessa" one of the staff was very helpful, warm, friendly, and professional. I really like the fact that the hotel was at the water and could walk out the room to the water. I would definitely return.

    « Another wonderful stay! »

We returned to this Best Western after staying there 3 years ago. We had another great stay. We initially were given a room with an adjoining door through which we heard our neighbor all night. We were moved the next day and had the quiet we desired. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The view of the estuary was wonderful. We used the ferry to visit SF during the day. The hotel provides van service to the ferry. We love this hotel.

« Working for the Customer »

The hotel is very clean and the rooms are very well presented. There is a bar and restaurant which serves either steak or salmon at $15 a plate you can't go wrong The pool area is small but clean and adiquate for most needs. The staff were excellent especially Vanessa who despite Best Western customer service leaving us with no hotel room, she worked tirelessly to sort us out. She seemed to feel the same disappointment we felt after being let down by Best Western and kept us informed and eventually came through to make our stay in the Bay area priceless. One downside was the taxi the hotel recommended to take us to the airport, he took the longer route (10 miles difference ) and cost us $130.

    « Terrific stay »

The hotel was immaculate and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. I asked a housekeeper, Ofelia, for an extra laundry bag and she went out of her way to ensure I had everything else I needed. Very convenient location (about 5-10 minute drive to Jack London Sq). Check-in and checkout were effortless. The room was very spacious, the bed comfortable, the bathroom large (with both a soaking tub and a large shower) and there was a microwave and fridge in the room. A great view from the balcony of the bay. There was a hot breakfast (Erika was especially pleasant) with a variety of brewed coffees as well a machine to make custom drinks. Great stay, great price, great people.

    « Excellent stay »

This was our second stay at BW Bayside to visit family on the East Bay and do a little sightseeing in SF. We had a bay view room on the third floor which gave us a great view of the water. The room was spacious and clean with very comfortable beds and a sofa. The breakfast buffet was ample and overlooked the bay. This property does not have its own pool but we had access to the pool at the sister property next door, which also overlooked the bay. It was a perfect and peaceful rest place after busy days visiting family and tourist sites. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « extraordinary service »

We stayed at the Best Western Embarcadero because our own house was rented out on AirBnB, and we couldn't leave town until the next day. From the moment we walked through the door, the service was friendly and professional. For instance, I asked for a local paper they did not carry, and the associate got me one from the hotel next door and had it brought to me room. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the estuary. I highly recommend this hotel.

« MUST Stay When in OAK/East Bay or the SF Area »

The Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel is THE place to stay when in the SF/East Bay Areas. DO NOT spend the BIG money and stay in SF, stay in this Best Western and enjoy a huge room, amply outfitted, fantastic free breakfast and then take the inexpensive Water Taxi to SF's Ferry Building. The GM, Mr. Mark Hochstatter, runs a tight ship, and his hotel is First Class. Everyone is SO friendly, the facility is absolutely clean and the Front Desk Staff provide professional customer service. Btw, parking is FREE! Ask for Mr. Tony Smith @ the Front Desk - he represents Mr. Hochstatter and Best Western in a most professional manner for all of the staff to emulate. This is where I stay when business or personal travel brings me to the SF/East Bay Area. You will enjoy your stay. I always do.

    « Thank you! »

Our stay was great, rooms were clean, and staff was friendly. The hotel is in a great location. Not far from San Francisco, extremely close to Oakland Coliseum, and only about a mile walk to the nearest BART station. 10/10 would stay here again.

« this hotel has a great view good service »

I had to change my reservations at the last moment and wanted to stay two nights. The second half of the week all the rooms were full. Yet the front office staff and manager took time to find if there was a cancel and they did find me the same room with very reasonable prices. The breakfast was nice especially the dining room looking out on the water. I especially liked the way staff were helpful finding places that served food after hours. Anna Marie helped me get all my luggage out and in my car making sure I had everything and didn't leave any behind. The rooms are very large with lots of space to put suite cases out of the way. I have stayed here before and plan to do so again soon.

    « A room with a view »

Easily one of the best hotels in the area with a great staff and a spotless property! This hotel is on the water with views of the marina and the San Francisco sky line in the sunset! Minutes from downtown San Francisco by car or by ferry with Jack London Square and the Oakland Coliseum (Oracle Arena) near by, it just doesn't get much better than this. Last but not least, it's quiet.

« Really enjoyed our stay here »

The people at the front desk are very customer service oriented. They were friendly and helpful from the start. The hotel is clean, neat and quiet. Our room was spacious and had a nice view of the bay. The outdoor hot tub and pool were great. I did a lot of research on different places both in Oakland and in San Francisco and am really glad that we stayed here. We had a great time and really enjoyed our stay. I would stay here again!

    « Excellent Customer Service »

Not only was the view of the bay breath-taking, but the patio and walking path was a bonus. The front desk staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Thumbs up to Vanessa, Bashir, AnnaMarie and Jay. They always greeted me with a smile and were wonderful at giving suggestions for restaurants and places to visit. I had an awesome time in Oakland, partly due to the my well appointed room, hotel staff and good breakfast offerings. I would highly recommend this property. Thank you for making me feel so welcomed!

« Great place to stay »

This place was great! We got a room with a water view and there was a walking path right outside our room. Also the fact that they have free parking is a HUGE bonus. Because it's not in the downtown area, there isn't any concern for car theft. But it's close enough that a cab/uber ride is less than $6 to get to most places in the downtown area. The free breakfast was pretty delicious as well. Great options for those with dietary restrictions too.

« Okay, but wouldn't be my first choice. »

The hospitality of the staff is average, with us asking for slippers yet without anyone delivering to us. How can they provide only one pair for 4 guests? The room is not thoroughly cleaned, especially the toilet, where one can see yellow stains. Manager was not so flexible in managing two separate orders for three consecutive nights. We had to check out on 11 o'clock and recheck in after at least 1:30 pm on the second day to a different room, which is quite unnecessary. Anyway, it definitely won't my first recommendation to my friends.

« Another Great Stay Here! »

Room # 284 (center of hotel) is a spacious King-bed room, balcony, and water view. This was our second time in the past 2-years of staying at this hotel. Will book here again most likely if I'm ever back in the Oakland/San Francisco area. No complaints!

    5
« Great Hotel, amazing views »

This hotel was beautiful, the views of the water and you can see San Francisco on a clear day! The breakfast was decent and there was a nice coffee bar, plus ice machines on each level. The only bummer is that there is nothing in walking distance, so you have to cab/drive anywhere to go out at night....I just got food and stayed in!

    « Excellent Hotel »

I had a bayside view, with a balcony. It slept 6, which was perfect for my family. The room had a nice fridge, a microwave, and even some cabinets for storing snacks. It was very affordable, had a great breakfast, and the staff was outstanding. I also appreciated having free bottles of water, fruit, and a coffee bar available at al times. It also has a shuttle van that will drop you off at various locations. The hotel is close enough to the ferry and BART, wich will take you into San Francisco. Overall, our experience was outstanding and we would definetely stay here again!

« Great amenities and fabulous grounds! »

The hotel staff was excellent both during check in and check out and at breakfast (standard hotel breakfast with hot and cold food - eggs, bacon, waffles, oatmeal, bagels, pastries, toast, individual cereal boxes, yogurt, bottled juices, individual milks including almond, the works!). The grounds are beautiful! The pool looks out onto the bay. The water is warm in the pool. The hot tub is big. There is a nice walking path along the bay with piers on either end of the trail. Great experience. Would stay here again!

« Just for the night! Too bad it wasn't for longer. »

I will just start with the fact that I have stayed at many hotels and motels in my life. But this place has to be the best I've ever stayed at. We booked a night through Hotels.com using some credits from my earned free night and paid any difference. We don't live far from Oakland, only a couple of hours, but it's nice to treat yourself from time to time. We checked in around 2pm after we drove and spent a few hours in Berkeley. I don't sleep well normally so I was really tired and this night we were going to a concert at The Fox Theater in Oakland. Our check in went so smooth. Apparently when I booked the room I booked the handicap accessible room. I do not need any special accommodations and the front desk clerk asked me if I meant to do this, I explained that I didn't. There was no fuss about it, he just booked us in the correct room after asking what floor we'd like to be on! What!?! No one ever cares to ask this. I always prefer the top room so I don't have to hear people stomping above me. Our check in took us less than 5 minutes and we were given all of the information that we needed in regards to the hotel amenities. I found out that they have an airport shuttle, as most hotels do, but this shuttle also has a few drop off points in downtown every half hour. What!?! I don't have to drive downtown, find and pay for parking??? Yes!!! They just said to give them a heads up as to when we needed to be downtown and they would take care of it. We quickly got our belongings from the car in the very well maintained parking lot and headed to our room. The room was enormous! This was not a suite, but it had a king bed, a couch, chair, coffee table, desk and a ton of room to walk around in. It was the size of our living room. The view was amazing with a patio that overlooked the water. It was so quiet and the weather was perfect. But then, it got even better. The bathroom is also gigantic with a huge soaking tub, separate shower and separate water closet. There was a small wet bar in the hallway between the bathroom and main room that had a microwave, fridge and coffee maker. Across from that was two closets one that had a terry cloth bathrobe with slippers. The room smelled so good and was so relaxing. I then proceeded to pass out for about 2 hours on the most firm and comfortable mattress. Once we were ready to go, we went downstairs and told the front desk employee that we had reserved a trip downtown, she said that she would call the shuttle. We sat down outside and within 5-10 minutes (we got downstairs early) the shuttle arrived with the most polite and happy employee yet. We were also dropping off another hotel guest along the way. The driver was so friendly was great with engaging in tasteful conversation and explained all of the surroundings and amenities that Oakland has to offer on our way to and from the venue. He really could be a school teacher full time. :) Normally they drop you off in front of the federal building which is just a few blocks from the venue, but this driver said he is going to drop us off at the venue! After the show, we decided to walk in the direction of the federal building to see if there was anywhere we could eat before the shuttle picked us up, no dice. But we called the shuttle and told them where we'd be (which there seemed to be some confusion with) and they said the driver would be there in 15 minutes and to wait in front of the federal building. While waiting in front of this building we were told by a police officer that we were not aloud to do this because it's the federal building. So we waited across the street. Unfortunately we waited 30 minutes for the shuttle to pick us up, but they said that there was a large number of calls to picked up all at once. If they had told us this to begin with, we did finally see a burrito place was open. But because we weren't told this we were afraid to leave our pick up spot. When we got back to the hotel, we asked the front desk clerk what restaurants were open right now and we were fine with delivery. She had a stack of coupons from a few different pizza places which we were more than fine with. We went up stairs, ordered pizza, relaxed ate and passed out. Here was my one and only disappointment with this hotel and really all Best Westerns. The free breakfast is pretty sad. It's the typical, danishes, toast, waffles and cereal. Nothing to write home about. Check out was a breeze and we were on our way. I know that this is a lengthy review, but this hotel deserves a great review. If we need to stay in Oakland again, we will definitely stay here. :) Thank you to all of the staff that made our stay wonderful!

« Brilliant hotel, beautiful rooms could not be any better »

Again TripAdvisor and the feedback left by other travellers did not let us down. This hotel falls into the first class in every way. The location, the building, the rooms, the spotless public areas and of course the helpful staff all made this a wonderful place to stay, the only thing was that we only had the one night as we needed to catch a train in the morning. The quality of out room was amazing and the private balcony overlooking the water and beyond to the SF skyline made this outstanding. Everything was spotlessly clean and the huge bed set at an angle to look out at the bay provided a great nights sleep. A complimentary bus provided us with transport to the Amtrak station just 5 minutes away thus taking away the mither of arranging transport ourselves. We visited the Quinn's Lighthouse Restaurant on the night of our stay. It is just a 10 minute walk along the water front and that and the hotel combined to make this a stay to remember. Free Wi-Fi and breakfast were included. The breakfast in the downstairs room over looking the bay made an excellent setting for a good start to our day. Whilst there are coffee machines in the room there is an ample supply of hot coffee in the lobby by the lifts. I would give this hotel 100% or 10 out of 10 and a Gold Star for being perfect in every way. Thanks to the staff and management for making this such a wonderful place to stay.

I was thoroughly impressed with every facet of my hotel experience at the Best Western Bayside. Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with all of the amenities I'm looking for as a traveler. Service was top-notch, particularly Basir at the front desk who was extremely helpful and professional. The breakfast bar is above average with plenty of fresh fruit. Nothing but praise for the Best Western Bayside!

« Awesome Reservationa Rep (Front Desk) »

I needed to book a room for one of my colleagues and I had never booked a room with Best Western, in Oakland, CA (Embarcadero) before. I had soooooo many questions and Jay (the rep) was so patient with me. I called back several times with follow-up questions, but he never seemed frustrated with me. I so appreciate good customer service and Jay was OUTSTANDING!!! Jay, you are a value-add to your company and I hope they recognize it!

« Vacation Thank you Jay »

If you choose to stay in Oakland California I would highly recommend this place. The room are nice as well as the people. We were in a awful situation we were there on vacation and booked a room at the Piedmont hotel we booked at this place online thinking it's reasonable and looked nice from the internet pictures. Upon arriving at the Piedmont the outside looked pretty rough graffiti all around it we seen a grocery cart and toys on the outside and a drunk. Please know we have no idea what the inside looked like and wasn't interested in even looking. We have kids and refused to put them in an area that wasn't safe. That's how we ended up at this wonderful place the manager Jay was so awesome he worked hard to get us and room and put us in a very nice room. Somehow how there was a misunderstanding and he thought it was just for a night but we needed 2 nights anyway we were stressed because we thought we would have to leave again Jay came thru again. I can't say enough about how nice and great he was. This place was filling up quick and he still came thru. Thanks Jay for making our trip great. You deserve the best. Kim Weakley

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay--the view from the balcony of the room was lovely. Ducks and other birds came by. Room very spacious and comfortable. « Huge Rooms, Urban Vistas »

I booked a bayside room, which also included a view of the freeway as I was at the end. On the other hand, I heard no noises from neighbors and enjoyed my own patio on the walkway along the Brooklyn Basin. The room was massive with a bathroom with separate shower and tub. The breakfast buffet is very nice and in a comfortable setting with a USCG property across the channel. There is a pleasant walkway along the channel and the property is connected to another similar hotel. I used the spartan exercise room, which was fine. Service was great, sent my laundry out and it came back quickly with no pieces missing. The property is generally well kept and my room was spotless.

« AVOID - EXPENSIVE BUT WATER VIEW MAY PUT YOU BY THE FREEWAY »

Booked a water view room, expecting to be bayside. There are at least 10 rooms that are sold as "water view" but as they are at one end of the building, the predominant view is freeway/railway. The noise was dreadful, 24/7, and there was no point sitting on the balcony because of it. I made three requests over two days to be moved to a bayside room, both met with "we may offer you a discount, the manager is in a meeting, someone will call you back". Even when lots of rooms were checking out on day 2, "nothing better was available." On no occasion was I afforded the courtesy of a call back. When we finally checked out, the manager was present and responded to each of my comments with "Thank you for your feedback". Nothing better. Discount for iinconvenience, mis-selling of rooms, or the lack of staff interest? No. I have stayed in very cheap motels who make a better job of customer service. In fact it's the most disappointing hotel experience I have ever suffered. Dreadful. AVOID this freeway motel selling itself as an upmarket property!

« Terrible noise in adjoining rooms »

Do not let them put you in an adjoining room. We listened to HOURS of the neighbors' sex, music, conversations, unhappy baby, etc., etc., etc. They were at it until well after 10 p.m., then again at 2 a.m., then it was noise all morning with their baby. We spoke to the hotel staff, who seemed understanding, but they did a "hall check" and decided the noise wasn't as bad as we said it was. Problem is: the sound comes through the adjoining door BETWEEN the rooms--you can't hear it as loudly from the hall. (I checked.) My wife has some health problems and absolutely needs rest, so even though the neighbors checked out and the staff moved us to a different (non-adjoining) room, her health never recovered. We had to cut our trip short and head back home--very disappointing 20th Anniversary celebration! They did partially discount our stay upon checkout, so that was at least helpful. Other than the noise, the place was fine. Breakfast was fine. Facilities were inviting and clean. The hotel is in an ugly part of the city--if you're holed up in your room enjoying the view of the bay, it's fine, but if you are coming and going, you have to drive through such unpleasant scenery. Won't stay there again. I'm surprised Fodor's recommended this place.

« Great, though expensive on a holiday weekend »

Our room was huge and the view was nice (the hotel has a zooming highway on one side but pleasant water on the other and we had a mix of both from our side room). I feel like we paid too much, about $260, for a family of four for one night in a Best Western, but it was Memorial Day weekend and that drove up the prices. We didn't have bedding for our pullout couch (could have waited for housekeeping, but our kid fell asleep on the bare bed!) and they ran out of laundry soap so by the time some came we couldn't start a load before checkout, but they did give us a late checkout and otherwise did their best to provide great service. It's obviously a popular place.

« Great place to stay in Oakland »

This is a great place to stay in Oakland on a short break or on business. I was there only for 1 night in Oakland ( with family) for a concert at the Oracle arena( Colosseum). The hotel is well located, with parking, has good views of the water front. The rooms were of good size and provided value. We decided not to take our car to the Oracle arena and go by BART : the hotel has free shuttle to the nearest station.

    « Overnight in Oakland »

Ideal hotel for overnight stay if using Oakland Airport. Free hotel airport transfer that departs regularly to airport also. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was large and clean. Bathroom similar. As hotel is on banks of a river there's a great view from the room. Great selection of coffee all day from the help yourself bar on the ground floor. Hotel is on outskirts of town and walkable to Downtown - not that there is much to do in Downtown.

« Very nice for Oakland »

We have been searching for a comfortable, nearby place to stay while visiting family in Alameda. Of the hotels/motels we have looked at or stayed in, this Best Western Plus is by far the best. It is clean and the staff is friendly. The breakfast is a nice plus. The waterside rooms are offer a view and a buffer from the highway noise. My primary objection is that the walls are thin and the plumbing is noisy.

    « Extremely Happy »

The Best Western Plus is a beautifully appointed hotel staffed by caring and courteous professionals. Our stay was peaceful, relaxing and comfortable. It's the best in the area without a doubt. On more than one occasion staff members took the time to address our specific needs. Each member of the family was EXTREMELY HAPPY enjoying the hospitality at The Best Western Plus on the Embarcadero.

    « Nice plce »

I stayed here in May for a business trip. The conference I was attending was actually at the waterfront hotel in jack London square which many coworkers told me was dingy. So I stayed at the best western which is a quick 2 mile drive from jack London square. The hotel is right off the highway which is convenient and doesn't really affect the quietness of the hotel. The backside of the hotel faces the estuary with nice views from most rooms I believe. There is a walking path from the hotel along the water toward the one marina. Also the pool and hot tub at the neighboring embassy suites is open to guests at the best western! The room I stayed in had a king bed and jacuzzi tub. It is a huge room with a porch/balcony which I believe most rooms have. The jacuzzi tub is large as well as the rest of the bathroom. They do a nice breakfast between 6-10. Waffle station bagels juice eggs meat in a nice lounge. Would definitely stay here again.

« An Oakland hotel that is like a mullet haircut: Freeway in the front, relaxing in the back »

We booked this hotel for a graduation ceremony at UC Berkeley after finding that all closer hotels in town were sold out. I was a little worried since Best Western hotels are not, in my mind, mentioned in a sentence with "nice hotel". The front of this hotel is bland-looking and looks like a basic motel with a really nice lobby. The 880 freeway runs right in front of the hotel so we also worried about noise. Once we checked in, we made our way to room 166 which is in the back of the hotel, facing a body of water known as the Brooklyn Basin. To the right is a partial view of the San Francisco skyline. With a cool breeze blowing in our faces on a sunny day, we suddenly felt transported to a very happy place, not a hotel in front of a freeway. We settled into our deck chairs as people ran, bicycled and paddleboarded by us. Such a peaceful setting! This, plus the comfort of the room, made us happy with our selection of hotel. The only downside of this hotel was the location and lack of bars or restaurants. After a long day of family activities on a Saturday night, we wanted to get a glass of wine or maybe a bite to eat. Unfortunately, the Best Western has neither so we were sent next door to the Executive Inn & Suites. The tiny bar closed at 10pm and had very little food to offer, so we had a quick drink and purchased two Trader Joe's frozen entrees to take back to our room for dinner. Google Maps showed a list of restaurants and bars in the area but most were closed at 10pm. We'd stay at this place again, maybe just for a run away vacation! We'd also plan our meals a bit better to eat dinner in the city before returning to the hotel.

    « Very Enjoyable Visit »

This is a very nice hotel. If you like BW's, you will like this property. The staff are very friendly and one of them remembered my name and addressed me as "Mr. ****" each time she saw me in the lobby. The breakfast is very good with lots of excellent options. Our room was kept clean and the bathroom with its separated tub/shower/toilet was wonderful too. The pillows were very supportive and I didn't miss not having brought my own from home, which I usually do when I travel. There is coffee and other drinks always available to guests and there is a lobby where you can sit and relax in. It's very easy to find and even though it's right along the 880 freeway, you never hear the traffic. We had a bayside room and the view was serene, but our family members did not and they never complained about the traffic noise. If I ever need to be in the Bay-area again, I'm going to stay in this hotel.

« Very good front desk, Unpleasant room odor »

Basir, front desk was excellent and accommodating. Ann Marie was nice and helpful..The 5 rooms had unpleasant odor, reported the problem the 1st night but there was no follow up only to be told it was the carpet cleaning solution. Size of room is good for families. Shuttle service is good but not convenient, they need more than 2 as there are 2 hotels that share service. Location not too good nothing walking distance. Overall it was a good stay because of helpful personnel

    « Thoroughly Enjoyable. »

I had an extremely enjoyable and relaxing stay while on business here. I stayed in a third floor bayside room. The room had a balcony with a sliding glass door. I spent most of my time with the sliding glass door open enjoying the cool breeze overlooking a nice spot of the bay. Pros: a very large room with a reasonably comfortable bed. Huge bathroom. Beautiful view. Clean. Good breakfast with a nice outdoor patio. Cons: couch in the room was not very comfortable, pillows could be better. Bathroom was very large, what I did not like as the toilet was in a room of its own inside the bathroom so it felt like using the toilet in a closet. The door to that area would not stay open so I felt s bit closed in. Overall a wonderful stay. I would absolutely go back.

    « Visit for work »

I had a great experience at the Bayside. The staff, particularly the manager, Basir, and the desk manager, Jay, were friendly, accommodating, and wonderful to work with. The room was spacious, had a beautiful view of the water, was clean and well appointed, and was everything I wanted for a long stay for work. The breakfast was very nice, and the coffee was very high quality. In all, I could not have had a better time, even though I was only there for work. I would highly recommend it to any visitor.

« Spacious View Room Near Ferry »

There is a lot to like about this hotel, including a friendly & professional staff and an inviting lobby. My wife and I enjoyed the unusually large room we were given on the bayside. It had a small balcony, but it was otherwise well-appointed. We enjoyed the waterfront view, which is a bit industrial along the edges but nice nonetheless. We were very pleasantly surprised at how quiet our room was even though the hotel is just across the street from the highway. There is not much to do that is within walking distance here, unless you want to go to one of the other hotels that shares the long long long parking lot, but we did enjoy the fact that it is a short drive to the ferry terminal in Jack London Square, where we got a boat to watch The Giants play the Cubbies. Wonderful. the ferry dropped us off right at the ballpark and took us back after the game. There was a hotel shuttle available to the terminal, by the way, but we weren't sure how promptly we would be picked up late at night. Nice parking garage near the terminal, so no problem, and plenty of places to eat and drink. (By the way, if you do take this ferry, there is no ticket office on site. You will need to get online and check out your options.) Speaking of parking, when we got back to the hotel, the lot was full. We ended up parking on the street but you have to check out the signs for possible restrictions. Many of these signs are way up high so the folks who drive semis can read them, so good luck. Might be wise to check with the desk for advice.

« Good hotel for getting into San Francisco »

The hotel is very good and although doesn't have it's own pool you can use the pool in the hotel next door. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming. A reasonable breakfast is served and they also had gluten free cereal options. Although not a lot of choice around for eating there is a nice restaurant about a 7 minute walk away. The hotel offers a free shuttle to various local destinations, one being the ferry terminal so you can get across the bay to the heart of San Francisco. A good choice if you want to be able to get into the heart of San Francisco easily but don't want to stay in it.

« Excellent place to stay for conference »

The hotel, including breakfast and free shuttle service, was perfect. It was clean, quiet and well maintained. this is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in this area for work purposes. I would even consider staying here for a personal visit. The shuttle service makes it very easy to stay here. The downside is that there are few restaurants or other services nearby so you would have to have a vehicle to get around after hours.

« Hotel was excellent and book with Basir! »

Overall, great hotel experience. Basir booked my reservation and checked me in. He was excellent. I had a number of challenges (booking in early, charging to the state, transportation) and he was so patient and helpful. The hotel is a real bargain, the rooms are excellent and the view was really great. Really though, it's about customer service and Basir has raised that bar for me permanently.

« Nice hotel, great staff »

Travel regularly to this area. Although late night parking can be a challenge, this is the best place to stay in Oakland. Easy access, very clean, great staff and if you get the bay view side of the hotel, great view. I have stayed in others around Alameda and Oakland, but this is my "go to hotel"

« Surprisingly relaxing with good amenities! »

The room was much larger than expected and the balcony overlooking the water was great! The bathroom was fantastic and I definitely enjoyed the seperate oversized tub and standing shower- much more than I expected. The breakfast was nice with lots of options and having hot coffee and tea always available was a nice touch. I am Hilton loyal- but this hotel was very nice and definitely on par to exceed my expectations. The staff was pleasant, helpful and professional- definitely would come back again any time!

« Best is their first name for a reason. »

Best in the Bay Area. Easy on/off to I-880, even with truck/trailer. They recognize our military with awesome discounts. Friendly, helpful and ready for your visit. Hats off to Chris, Basir, and Jay. A bow of gratitude to Ann Marie. Thanks.

« BASIR GAVE EXEMPLARY SERVICE »

Bayside Hotel employee BASIR was extremely helpful in making my life easy with my multiple reservations and finding a way to keep me in the same room over several days so that I did not have to move. He also discovered an extra roll out bed that we could use for our 3rd adult person (3 adults, and 1 2 year old), and proceeded to get me extra sheets and bed cover for the roll out. Basir also mentioned the Park and Fly service for my son, as he was returning from Hawaii and driving, whilst the rest of us were staying permanently on the Big Island. So...Basir made my son's life a lot easier and less stressful with the Park and Fly option!!!!! The other two men at the front desk helped me a lot to, but I do not have their names. Service was exceptional. Basir also got me into a really nice room after hearing what I and my family were doing. It made our life easier with the 3 adults and child, and the room was awesom---about 500 sf too!!!! The bed---I want one! I have a not so good back---the resting upon and sleeping upon this bed was great for my back. I have to write a note to myself to write down who makes this mattress. Thank you Best Western for having a superior mattress!! Thank you to all of you guys at this Oakland Bayside Hotel. Oh, Basir told me an excellent place for dinner, also saying mention where you are staying and they will give you a discount!!! (and I had the best salmon filet dinner I have ever had). So...........if you are near Oakland airport/harbour looking for a really nice place to stay with really nice staff........pick the Bayside Hotel!! Sincerely, Donald Ott

Loved the hotel and the room on the water. Oakland as a city is a dump. We spent most of our time as tourists in San Francisco Rode the Bart, The Tour buses and drove all over the cities. Weather was just like Seattle.

« Very comfortable and Howie the best! »

We tried this hotel on a whim when visiting relatives in Alameda. What a gem! Rooms very clean, comfortable, and very roomy; lovely view of the water (and quiet even though right next to the freeway); and decent buffet breakfast with many choices. Fun surprise-the sister hotel next door has a bar in which the friendly bartender--Howie--makes a simple but delicious dinner for a very reasonable price! We enjoyed his perfectly grilled Filet Mignon, salmon, and Grandma's mashed potatoes. Can't be beat! We'll come back!

    « Comfortable waterfront hotel »

This is a very nice hotel right on the water in Oakland. It is convenient to downtown Oakland. The room was very spacious and nice with a view of the water. The breakfast was fine, especially the coffee! The staff were very pleasant. For some reason I kept having senior moments and leaving my key in the room. I had to get new keys 4 times. The staff was always kind and cooperative.

    « Nice Bayside Hotel »

I was on a business trip and stayed at the Best Western for one night. The staff was very helpful and the rooms were a good size, clean and comfortable. In addition, it was overlooking the bay; I believe most of the rooms faced the bay. I found out that it is conveniently located to the ferry, the train, the Bart and many great restaurants, and there is a shuttle that would take you to these places. I liked it so much that I made another reservation for a weekend trip in a couple of weeks.

    « Excellent! »

This hotel was a lovely place to stay for the four nights we were in the Oakland area. Staff was very helpful and customer oriented. The room was well appointed, spacious and everything worked! Being on the water side of the hotel was wonderful, with a relaxing view of the bay. Once in the room, it is hard to believe that the other side of the building is the never ending, chaotic traffic! Breakfast buffet was decent and a cut above the usual pastries and coffee. The only thing we missed was having a restaurant on the property, but guests also have access to the Executive Inn next door which has a bar with limited food and also an outdoor pool.

    « Nice room...not so great location! »

The staff was super helpful and courteous! The rooms were decent with a great view of the water. (I loved watching the rowing teams practice.) The tv channels were limited but I found something suitable to watch. There is not much within walking distance (Starbucks and Subway) so you have to take an Uber or taxi or wait "forever" for the shuttle. I think they have 2 shuttle vans that only hold 5-6 people. Their sister hotel next door (Executive Inn) has a small bar with a GREAT bartender (Gonzo)! They also serve 2 entrees in evening. I didn't eat but the food seemed to be extremely popular and looked very delicious! Overall, I wasn't disappointed with this hotel. I enjoyed my stay in Oakland!

« BEST choice in Oakland! »

This hotel has it all - beautiful lobby with patio by the bay, spacious rooms, great free breakfast buffet, and free parking. Fruit and fresh-ground coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cappuccino are available all day in the lobby. We had a double queen with sofa and balcony overlooking the bay - very roomy! Room includes all of the amenities: refrigerator with bottled water, microwave, coffeemaker, large bathtub and nice shower. There is a nice walking path along the bay behind the hotel as well as a heated pool and hot tub. Hotel is located on a somewhat industrial street, but they offer a shuttle to nearby Jack London Square where you can take a ferry to San Francisco. Service was very good. Highly recommended.

« Very nice accompdations- super nice staff. »

This hotel was a great choice. They thought of everything in their remodel- plenty of room for luggage in the room, electrical outlets well placed & roomy bathroom with private toilet room (&phone!) The staff was friendly & knowledgable about Oakland & SanFran. Room was clean. Best service was the shuttle. Driver was very nice. Food was decent- not sure what the scrambled eggs were but the coffee & freshfruit &other items were more than ample. Highly recommend this hotel.

    « Exceptional customer service »

Large lobby area to relax and work if needed. Bar area and nice breakfast offered. Access to major freeways is easy. Trader Joes just 10 mins away. I'd stay again. Rooms are large with more than ample space for family sharing rooms. Bathroom is also large in size. Room has a small fridge as well. Some rooms have views of the channel leading to the Oakland Port. Area for sitting outside to observe the channel.

    « Great Hotel! »

I was trying this hotel as a new place to stay when visiting my family in Berkeley several times a year. It was a good choice! Beautiful lobby, free parking, great staff (especially Xochtiti) clean and modern hotel. We had a 3rd floor room overlooking the water. The room was huge, clean, furnished lovely and a beautiful bathroom with a large oval tub, granite counter, great separate shower and toilet. My grandson loved taking a bath in the big tub. Best Western Bayside is on Oakland's Embacaderro. Free shuttle to the airport and pick up, Jack London square etc. I rented a car from Enterprise which is just around the corner. Cheaper than at the airport. Great service! This is a Great hotel...highly recommend! Oh yes, the windows in the hotel are extra double thick window panes. Making it very quite everywhere.

« No Reservations? No Problem! »

I flew into Oakland one day early and since the change was last minute, I did not have a reservation. Google Maps led me to a string of hotels/motels on Embarcadero Dr. and Best Western was one of them. I did not have a reservation and was not looking to over-spend for a one night stay. When I arrived at Best Western, the front check in was extremely helpful; his name was Basir, and he was able to get a room at a decent price. He checked me in; quickly, we shot the s**t for a bit; nice guy. Overall, if I'm ever in Oakland without a reservation again, I'll hit up a Best Western again; probably the exact same one.

« Best Stay in Oakland! »

We get to Oakland a number of times a year, and have stayed at other hotels numerous times. We found this hotel and couldn't be happier. This will be our hotel of choice from now on! Everything about our check in, the room, it's amenities and the staff were awesome! We had a king size bed with over looking the lake with one of the nices bathrooms I've ever seen! If I had to give it one "con" it would be the breakfast selection. Although happy that breakfast was provided, I would have like to have seen more of selection of the breakfast meats and maybe some potatoes. But even with that said, they made up with the 24 hour AWESOME coffee/tea/hot chocolate bar. Can't wait to get back to Oakland and back to the Best Wester PLUS Bayside Hotel!!

« Very comfortable overnight hotel stay. »

Very convenient for a high school sports meet just minutes away. Staff were very helpful, especially ?Vanessa at the front desk. Enjoyed the spa like shower/bath. Beds are very comfortable. Really liked the courtesy Numi tea and coffee table available 24/7 in lobby. Would stay again. Noise on the highway side room was noisier than we would have liked.

    « Film Crew Trip »

Our crew stayed at this hotel for a week of filming we were doing in San Francisco and Oakland. Everyone was very impressed by how nice the hotel was and the beautiful location right on the water! The breakfast each morning was great, and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Only issues we had were the shuttle taking a while picking people up from the airport, and the internet not working 1 night in one of the rooms (which they fixed). Overall a great stay!

    « San Fran Visit »

Nice hotel, still a little spendy but includes breakfast and parking at no additional charge. Bed was comfortable and shower was Awesome. Shuttle to and from BART station was nice, however would have been nice to be able to call ahead with estimated time of arrival versus calling when physically at the station... area was a little sketch for waiting for shuttle later in the evening.

    « Excellent customer service »

Annemarie at the front desk was wonderful. My rental car was rear-ended on the freeway and the rental company left me high and dry. I was in town for college tennis matches and had to be on my way. She helped me set up Uber for the first time, was so kind and helpful, really went out of her way. She is a gem, hope the hotel knows that!

    « Everything went right! »

Magic in Oakland -- go figure. Location was great.. Freeway exits both direction but faces Alameda Island on the water with ducks and cranes and walking path. Lounge with deck and view for breakfast and when coming and going. Room with great view, pillow top bed, bath room with shower stall and tub and separate toilet room. Everything clean and tasteful. Pool and hot tub available adjoiningr Executive Inn. Free shuttle to Jack London Square or downtown/Uptown areas, BART, and Ferry -- minutes away. Ferry ride to San Francisco was cheap and beautiful. Two different Oakland nrestaurants were great. Staff, thank you Vanessa and others, were professional and patient and friendly. Other quests were from everywhere. Just a great Easter Holiday.

« Beautiful hotel with a convenient location »

I stayed here for my last night after visiting the area for a wedding to stay closer to the airport. I wished I could have stayed longer! The location was right off the freeway with free parking. I had a King room with a bay view. The room was huge, including a soaking tub. If in Oakland again, I definitely know where I'll stay.

    4
« Very nice spot on the Oakland bayfront »

We had an third-story end room on the bay side in this well-appointed, well-locationed hotel. The front staff was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was utilitarian, but staff was great and so was the view! The hotel staff needs to clean up the beach just north of the property as it was loaded with garbage--an unfortunate detraction. Our room did not have working wi-fi, though our notebooks worked fine in the common area--too far away for the wi-fi to reach?? Very clean and restful with nicely accommodated rooms. I would return to the hotel--it was a very nice experience.

    5
« Stayed at the Best Western for 6 nights for a conference »

I would rate this hotel experience as one of the best I have had. I have stayed at many more upscale and prestigious hotels, but none have surpassed the service and amenities I experienced during my 6 night stay at the Best Western Bayside in Oakland. The professionalism and courtesy of the staff was impeccable. Every day my room was prepared for another nights stay just as if I had just checked in. So may hotel's housekeeping forget to replace something used from the nights stay, such as shampoo, soap, coffee for in room cups, but the Best Western housekeeping didn't forget a thing! Kudo's to the management at this hotel for creating such a well trained and professional team!

    3
    « Bayside »

Late arrival due to late flight, and as usual got last room which is not always the best room. Room 197 is what we were assigned for three nights. Even though we booked thru our airlines for the package deal (flight & room) I still believe we should have been reconized as Diamond members with the Best Western chain. I mention we were at least 6 times. The room was noisy as it was on the freeway side. When I said something about it they said they never had complaints. They offered to move me, I did go and look at other room it was half the size of the other one and no Jacuzzi. I declined and kept the air fan on to block the noise from the sound proof room! The Jacuzzi didn't blow only trickled bubbles. The bed is very uncomfortible and needs replaced. Our view was of half the bay and city but lets not forget all the homeless campers outside our windows. Don't let the place fool you, and for some it maybe was ok but for us it was not. And they made me feel if I asked to make it better that I was a bother. Never again will I stay there. We travel to hotels over 60 times a year. I leave good and bad reviews for the places we stay. This one feel way below our expectations. You also share the pool which is located at the Hotel next to this one so no they don't have there own pool.

    4
« convenient parking, close to freeway »

There is nothing nearby and all delivery places close super early or don't seem to know where this place is. Just know that you should plan for dinner before checking in for the night. The breakfast is standard chain hotel breakfast fare. Coffee and tea and hot cocoa available 24 hours in the lobby was a nice feature. The rooms were quite large. The staff were very helpful and friendly. There's a laundry room also, so good if you are a business traveler or a family on a long road-trip. You must pay for the machines though. Overall comfortable stay.

    5
« Bay view, large rooms »

Upon first glance getting off the freeway, this hotel may be a bit worrisome. BUT, it is very different once you are inside. The lobby is nice and clean, with a large sitting area outside, overlooking the bay. The rooms are pretty large too - mine had a large sitting area with a couch, plush chair, large coffee table and a spacious desk area with office chair. The bed was very comfortable and there was a large fly screen HD TV. The bathroom was the biggest surprise - a large oval shaped soaking tub with a separate glass/tile shower and an enclosed toilet (for added privacy). Big sink area to accommodate several people's toiletries on the counter. There is a mini refrigerator and a coffee maker, as well. If you get a bayside room (highly recommended) it is very quiet and you will have ducks come up to your patio/balcony. Lastly, the free breakfast is impressive. Waffles, eggs, yogurts, fruit, toast, juice, coffee, hard boiled eggs, ...anything you want to grab & go or sit and eat a hearty meal. Several families were sitting at tables, having a huge breakfast together. This is not a meager free "included" meal. My room was very quiet, but I had a noisy refrigerator (which was resolved after unplugging it). You can hear the freeway in the hallways, so I would not recommend any rooms other than the ones overlooking the water (furthest from the road).

« Clean and Luxurious - a rare find among Oakland area hotels »

Having traveled through Oakland on numerous occasions I have up to this point failed to locate any hotel worth returning to, until now. The BW+ Bayside Hotel offers everything you are looking for in a business-caliber hotel close to the Oakland International Airport. Clean rooms with modern décor, balconies and patios fronting on the estuary dividing Oakland from the island of Alameda, peek-a-boo views of the SF skyline, modern, well-equipped bathrooms with quality bath products and a quiet environment for a good night's sleep. You will enjoy a decent complimentary breakfast the next day as well. Highly recommended.

    « Surpassed my expectations »

I was going to San Francisco for a conference. Hotel prices were $350+ per night. I found this BW Plus in Oakland with free parking and breakfast. And it was only an 8 minute drive to the BART Fruitvale station. This Best Western PLUS hotel was under $200/night including taxes. I highly recommend this hotel when visiting San Francisco for business or pleasure.

Basir at the front desk, was welcoming and went above and beyond to help me get some decaf tea for my stuffy nose! My stay was very short, but I'll be back. Thanks for a very nice experience.

I can't say enough about this hotel. It is very clean and safe. I had a great room with an awesome view of the water and boats. The amenities were convenient. The service was awesome from everyone I met. When I checked in, all the important details were covered to make me more comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was awesome and was glad the hotel was so close to the worksite to be able to get it.

    « Love this place »

We came to visit some local friends and stayed a few nights at this hotel. Not only were the prices really good for the area we are in but the hotel was also very nice. One thing that really stood out to me was the helpfulness and polite nature of the woman who helped us, AnneMarie , she answered all of our questions and told us about local opportunities for fun and to make it easier to get around. I wish all people who worked at hotels were so kind and helpful.

    « Great Service »

This was my first visit to Oakland and Best Western Plus Bayside Hotel. I arrived in the evening and was greeted at the front desk by Basir. He was friendly, energetic, enthusiastic, and obvioiusly enjoyed his job. He gave me tips about credit card security, getting around the area, and suggested dinner at the neighboring Executive Suite (their sister establishment). the free wifi was smooth with a strong signal keeping me connected for business and family links. All the relevant wifi info was given upfront at checkin (unlike other places I stayed where I had to ask and make trips to the front desk for the access info). The next morning he help arrange courtesy transportation to a conference at the Marriot City Center. The driver (Doris) was courteous and efficient. Later that evening, after the conference, I took the ferry to San Francisco and returned to the Oakland ferry terminal at Jack London Square. A simple call to Best Western and the free courtesy shuttle driven by Becky appeared for a no hassles smooth ride back to a hot shower and breakfast. The complimentary breakfast was well stocked (sorry, I missed the woman's name) and kept neat and clean. The range of choices included numerous beverages (e.g. several coffees, juices), foods (e.g. fresh fruit, yogurts, danish, eggs, meat, waffles, toast, etc.) I will definitely stay here again if traveling to the Oakland area.

« Good Hotel, Good Effort, Comedy of Errors Leads to Marginal Experience »

Pros: Nice enough property. Great use of glass lets in light in what could be otherwise dim hallways. Nice open public areas. Free good breakfast and free WIFI. Comfortable beds. Nice bath amenities. Location is OK. There is a Subway and a Starbucks close-by but not within walking distance. Jack London Square, near the Amtrak station, is just a short drive on the other side of Oak Street with plenty of dining options. Nice balcony looking overt the bay. Large room. Love the electric vehicle plug-in in the parking lot. Cons:I would definitely unequivocally endorse the property if not for a personal experience which (I presume) is a rare enough occurrence. We were upgraded at check-in and I am guessing the new room number was not entered into the computer system. They re-let the same room at around 1:00 am. to other guests This resulted in said disappointed guests (them) not being able to get into their (our) room followed by maintenance knocking on the door at 1:15 am trying to figure out who could not get into the room and why. Though sleep-blurred, I recall the maintenance man and I concluded that he must have mistaken the room number. Having just stumbled back into bed, repose was once again interrupted by another round of knocking on the door, this time by security informing me that this room was "supposed to be vacant." At this point, even the soundest of sleepers would be left scratching their heads as to which end was up. Not sure why the front desk didn't just call up to our room to talk to us rather than sending up security but...We called down to the front desk and straightened that out. Unfortunately, our keys got re-coded in the mix-up and the next morning we were locked out of our room... (I should have asked for tips on how to get in from the poor guests left on the doorstep the night before....) Separately, steam from a bath or shower set off the hardwired red box fire alarm in the room. That happened each day. The first time, it was a bit unsettling as I presume they do not perform fire-drills in hotels. And yes, we did inform the front desk about that, too. The first time they sent up another maintenance man. After the second and third times, we just ignored it. When we checked out, I suggested to the front desk that they warn the next occupants to keep the bathroom door closed after they shower. Or just not be unsettled when the fire alarm goes off. The woman at check-out said she would make a note of it. You have been warned. I think most people could have a nice, peaceful stay there. It just wasn't in the cards for us, this trip.

    « Nice view »

It's a nice place to get away from all the stress and just relax. The view is beautiful and breakfast is good. You can sit outside and enjoy the view while having breakfast. Coffee is good and available for free 24 hrs (plus for me or coffee lovers).

« AMAZING BAY VIEWS, Superlative service and accommodations. Best value for a nice bay front hotel. »

I travel to the area regularly on business and have tried several other hotels in the same area, finding NONE which compare to the Bayside Hotel. The rooms are large with plenty of dark wood, updated, comfortable furniture & bed and granite counters. The bath is huge with a separate shower and tub as well as having the toilet in its own room. The service is exemplary. I returned after dinner in Alameda and found the parking lot full. When I inquired of the front desk staff where else I could park, they instead moved their vehicle so I could park. Simply amazing response unlike what I normally find at other hotels. There really is no better place to stay, especially when considering the quality of the hotel, location and rates.

« Very Clean Room with Friendly Staff »

We traveled to Oakland for work the same week of the Super Bowl which was being held only a few miles away. It was extremely difficult to find rooms so when we booked this room I was a little worried. However when we arrived I was pleasantly surprised. The rooms were very clean and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The room even came with a free breakfast which was the perfect start to our day.

I like staying in this hotel. The water view from the lobby is great. Breakfast is complimentary and is excellent. The staff are very helpful and will accommodate you if you have to check out late at 1pm. The price is also right.

Everyone was awesome and helpful. Really enjoyed my stay and the beautiful view. Food was great and worth the price. Staff was very helpful, rooms were clean, the size of the room was excellent, and enjoyed all of the services they provide including the free wifi.

Check in was a breeze. Very nice and helpful staff. Beautiful room with a patio to the water. Good breakfast with many great options. Shuttle service was nice too. Really, for the price we thought it was fantastic! We will always stay at this hotel whenever we are in the Oakland area.

« Great place to stay in the bay area near Oakland and Alameda »

This hotel has a very nice location with most rooms facing the bay towards Alameda island. The service is excellent here, has been for a long time. Assistance happens quickly and the staff have been exceptionally kind and considerate since I started coming here many years ago. The suites are large and well appointed and the linens are upscale. The hotel is a companion to the Executive Inn next door and they share a free airport shuttle to nearby OAK. Executive also has a full service bar that is open to this hotel. There are 1 or 2 places to eat within walking distance and Uber operates an official ride site in the parking area. Its relatively quiet, the bay waters are attractive, the pool is heated. I've stayed here over 50 times and never a problem. I recommend the Best Western slightly over the Executive Inn simply because the lobby area of the Best Western is much more quiet that Executive Inn, which cuts down noises to the nearby rooms. The largest rooms if you're a family staying all together are the rooms located at the west end. They are huge. All have nicely appointed washrooms with separate showers and jacuzzi tubs, largewashroom areas appointed with good towels and other accouterments.

« Perfect View, Service, and Location »

Going to Oakland twice a year for business has always been a Hotel challenge. We have stayed at many and been terribly disappointed in anything priced reasonably.......UNTIL NOW......this hotel is so clean, spacious and comfortable rooms with terrific views of the bay and San Francisco. Great location and an affordable retreat from the downtown grime of Oakland. They provide shuttle service to downtown and Jack London Square and the airport....fast breakfast and very friendly, helpful staff.......first time I will be happy to return to Oakland.....

    « Almost perfect »

Everything at the hotel was exceptional, with the only problem being the odor is the room. Staff offered us a different room, but we had been travelling for days and were just too tired to move. We should have moved as the smell (apparently oils in the carpet) became very overwhelming.

« Outstanding customer service and Great Value for Money »

This hotel offers great value for money and is located in an accessible part of Oakland just off the freeway. The stand out is the customer service which we received from staff during our stay. From check in to check out we experienced friendly, helpful assistance that was genuine and professional. In particular, Vanessa on the front desk went out of her way to look after us, by helping us book another Best Westin hotel. She took the trouble to call the property and arrange a room, a discounted/regular customer rate and to check the room had a nice outlook. All with a smile and a genuine desire to ensure our needs were met. She is a standout as is Jay on the front desk who was also very helpful and knowledgable. The hotel offers free breakfast, free wifi, free shuttle to Oakland and complimentary coffee and fresh fruit all day.

    « It's a gem »

I stayed here for only one night traveling from Oregon. Checking in was super quick. We arrived to our room on third floor late at night. Our room was spacious. The bathroom layout was huge with a tub and shower combo. After a long drive, soaking in the tub was great. The bed was super comfy and had a great nights rest. We missed the breakfast, but the location was in middle of Oakland to all good dining. We checked out and continued on our trip well rested. I would return to this hotel.

    « I didn't know we were movie stars! »

The staff at the Best Western Plus Bayside treated us like celebrities! My lovely wife and I were really looking forward to our 3-day excursion we had planned to Oakland, CA from Reno. We have only been to SF a couple of times and nowhere else in the Bay Area, so Oakland was somewhat of a mystery for us. Our ultimate goal was to have fun and finding the right amenities was important to us. We were there for New Years and our 25th Anniversary as well. The only thing we were doing in Oakland itself was the big Primus show at the Fox Theatre and we planned on staying at the room for the remainder of our time. We made a great choice staying at the Best Western Bayside. We had questions in advance and the staff could not have been nicer on the phone helping me with things such as a room request and the shuttle service. It really made looking forward to the trip way more fun and that's important. Our drive was a bit hectic and I was frazzled from driving. I was glad to see the hotel when it was in view. The moment we walked in my wife and I were both impressed with the overall look and feel of the premises. More importantly, Emmett at the reception desk could not have been more welcoming and he got our stay off to a great start. Friendly, patient, unassuming, kind, helpful are only a few of the words to describe him. After a quick and easy check-in, Emmett did not forget to direct us to the complimentary coffee and fruit. They had the same kind of automated coffee machine like on the cruise ship. We love those things. The most relaxed I felt in all of 2015 was enjoying that cup of coffee while watching TV in the lobby before even going up to the room. I just knew it was going to be an awesome trip. Let me say right now that this may have been the cleanest hotel we ever stayed at overall. Not only throughout the hotel, but also our room, the pool and the hot tub. I never use a public hot tub or bathtub but had no qualms whatsoever doing so here. I told my wife that the room tub was cleaner than ours at home and we really, really needed it and enjoyed it. The room had one of those oversize tubs with tons of hot water and it was awesome. It was not just clean but spotless. Perfect. Our awesome room was truly clean throughout. Not kind of clean. Spotless. Our room was over the water, as requested, with a great view of SF in the distance. We really enjoyed watching the boats, birds and fisherman. Everything in the room was nice. Nothing was too tired and the bed, get ready, was very, very comfortable. I never sleep well at hotels. They are rarely clean or comfortable but I was immediately at home here. As we were on our honeymoon we declined all room service and the staff graciously kept us stocked in whatever we needed. We had a fridge and microwave and both came in very handy. There was a safe and a nice TV. There were snack machines everywhere and the adjacent hotel had some sort of nice mini convenience store. We loved how the entire facility was smoke free. Unlike the cruise ships, they even had signs on the balconies reminding guests of the no-smoking policy. I have not enjoyed a pool or hot tub in decades because they are rarely clean. The pool and hot tub here are just fabulous. The outside temp was in the fifties and the pool was hot enough to swim in and we did just that. The hot tub was hot, clean and bubbly. How nice it was to sit on the bay boiling like a lobster with views of SF in the distance. Anne Marie, at the desk during the daytime, made sure we had anything we needed for the pool, such as towels, robes, slippers. The pool is a short pleasant walk to the adjacent property and you can even walk through halls if you prefer so there is no need to go through the parking area. We needed the shuttle service on New Year's Eve. The gentleman at the desk was nice enough to snap some memories for my wife and I. Everyone we met at this property and the adjacent property could not be more eager to please and it meant a lot to us. All we knew is that we had to get to the Fox Theatre and the shuttle driver made special effort to drop us right at the theatre entrance. It was fun arriving in style for the show. Tip that girl! She was awesome. On the next day, after the big party, it was back to the hot tub to recuperate. It was quiet and bubbly. But first we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast. It was the usual continental fair but they did a nice job and kept it stocked. I enjoyed the complimentary newspaper very much in the morning. It was nice to read about the local news. I spoke with Vanessa at the front desk. What a sweetie. As professional as can be. I had all but given up on good service anywhere in the world. In Reno all you can hope for in most cases is ?not rude.? Vanessa and everyone at the Bayside were so awesome and together that frankly it made me want to move there. I look forward to the big party again next year. It was a great show but the Bayside really made the trip over-the-top fun for us. I would not consider staying anywhere else. Thank you very much. Some constructive criticism might include the following only: 1) We had mentioned it was an anniversary but I should have probably also mentioned we were there to celebrate. It was not like we were making any noise at all but the people next to us with the adjacent door between the rooms seemed disturbed that we were quietly talking and watching t.v. at a really low volume. I called the desk to be sure there were no complaints regarding our raucous behavior and there were not. The guy on the phone was a bit weird when I told him our neighbors were knocking on the door between our rooms. He kept repeating what I said and then said he was sending security. I assured him it was not necessary and we retired to the bathtub to finish our cocktails in the tub. No problem. What was weird was the party next to us had more family in the separate room down the hall. It seems like these people should have had our room and vice versa. It's a hotel. We should not have to have lights out at 11pm. 2) Maybe consider a second waffle iron. The waffle shuffle is murder. 3) There were lots of cold and flu sufferers at the morning buffet. The hotel cannot help that or keep them from coming (we take our food back to the room when in that condition) but it would have been nice to see some more evidence of table sanitation between guests at the breakfast besides the usual ?schnoodle.? Sure as heck we both had colds come on afterwards and we really tried to be careful, but who knows. For the record, we offer this advice to just about everyone as it is often overlooked. 4) Cook the bacon way more. It was too rare. But, it was nice how the staff changed the selection everyday. Good stuff! 5) Don't let anyone smoke right at the front door. It defeats the purpose. That's all. You guys rock!

Very nice motel adjacent to the waterfront. Breakfast was waffles, fruit, pastries, juice, cereal, tea and coffee. Room was very spacious and clean. Bathroom was spacious and fancy. There is an adjacent Best Western on this property which leads to confusion when checking in. This motel didn't have a pool/hot tub. You had to walk across the way to the other Best Western to utilize the pool/hot tub.

This is our 2nd stay in 2015. Our room looked over a backwater of the San Francisco Bay. Basir, who was at the front desk when we checked in, was extremely friendly when we checked in. We were waiting for the luggage trolley to be brought back and he kept offering to retrieve it for us. Everything is squeaky clean, great mattress and pillows, large room, big variety of breakfast offerings that varied daily.

I've reviewed this hotel before and don't usually repeat reviews but staying here regularly for work I just have to say that the overall level of service, from the corporate rates they worked out for us (thank you Diana!), to the clean comfortable rooms, the desk folks (thank you Emmitt, Ann Marie, Diego and Basir!) and shuttle service (thank you Doris and Enrique!), continues to exceed my high expectations. Thank you entire BWPB team!!

Really beautiful sunsets and morning sunrises glimmering on the waters right outside your windows. Birds playing in the water outside, sail boats sailing by while having breakfast. A great place to stay, very pleasant hideaway in Oakland's Embarcadero that provides the best breakfast package and quality you'll ever see. This place just proved to me that you can pay more, but it doesn't mean you will get more. You'll get more than what you pay for here. Thanks for the great service and experience...

    « The best hotel I've experienced »

When I first arrived, I wanted a suite. I had never been in a suite before and that is what I wanted at a reasonable price. Anne-Marie was the first receptionist I dealt with there. She is extremely accomadating. She placed me in a sweet suite. The suite had a whirlpool bath and was very quiet and a balcony looking right over the etchuary. This was absolutely comforting. The second pleasing receptionist I dealt with was Emmet. Both Anne-Marie and Emmet should definitely be looking at Management positions. They both know their jobs very well along with the hotel and the accomadations. They know how to make u feel comfortable at first sight, and they make you want to rent their even if it were a Motel 6. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone in any class of life, this hotel is accomadating to all. Very classy, and cheerful and accomadating. Hopefully, during your stay here you get to meet and work with Anne-Marie and Emmet. They will make stay a 100 times better. The breakfast they offer is wonderful as well. Thank you, Jennifer Mills

We needed a hotel close to the Oakland Coliseum. We tried out this hotel and were not disappointed. The hotel had a beautiful view of the water, with a view of San Francisco off in the distance from our balcony. The room was clean and the staff were very accommodating. The breakfast in the morning was plenty. Waffle maker, omelets, cereal, yogurt, toast, fruit, hard boiled eggs to name just some items. A great coffee maker that ground beans for the fresh coffee drinkers and hot chocolate made with milk for hot chocolate enthusiasts. I loved it. We would definitely stay at this hotel again and recommend it to friends.

We had no expectations when we booked the hotel. It appears to be an oasis by the water, in industrial Oakland. You can take a ferry to SFO - but we didn't try it, choosing to drive to SFO instead. Very good hotel for the price we paid. Big, comfortable room.

« A hidden gem in the Bay Area »

We found this hotel for our Christmas visit with relatives in the Bay Area. It is in an odd area--several hotels surrounded by what will be re-developed properties in a few yrs. What a surprise. Comfortable room, free wifi, excellent breakfast selections over 4 hrs each days. Coffee/espresso machine beverages 24/7. Much nicer product than the Holiday Inn Express for the same price point or less. The view was phenomenal--an unexpected treat to have such a nice watefront vista, to watch ducks and pelicans floating on the quiet waterway. Each room has outdoor seating, but because this is Dec. we didn't use it. In warmer weather, it would be a (+) feature. All this and less than 5 min. to the freeway.

« Great place to stay »

This is our second time at this hotel and both times everyone was very helpful and kind. The place is pretty clean and the bed was very comfortable. The room was roomy and everything worked. This is a great place to stay in Oakland or if you are going to a Raider game. My only complaint is the breakfast. It states to be a "Hot Breakfast" but its just continental breakfast, with not much choice and the waffle maker very old that sometimes does not beep when done. But overall I would stay there again.

« Good choice for Oakland »

Hotel is next to the 880 which is very busy but the sound proofing is very good, our room was on the side so could see the water and the highway but once the double glazed door was closed you could hardly hear the road noise. Check in was quick and easy, the room was large with comfy bed and HD TV with lots of channels. Breakfast was good with lots of fresh fruit and a different hot selection each day. Coffee / Tea and fresh fruit is available all day.

    « Excellent Hotel & Staff! »

Strangely, I have never stayed at a Best Western Hotel prior to this. I had wrongly presumed Best Western to not offer the space and accommodations I prefer. When staying at a hotel, even alone, I always book suites - if at all possible, with separate sleeping quarters, living area, work area, and kitchen (with a full size refrigerator, stove, oven, and microwave). This way, I can have the benefits of home, away from home. I also book suites due to noise. I am a very quiet individual who is not only an extremely light sleeper, but VERY sensitive to sound and noise, and suites usually provide enough space to alleviate this issue (though it is becoming rarer to achieve this - no matter the hotel price I am willing to pay). I had been looking for a hotel to stay at near the airport for quite some time. I found none to my satisfaction. In a last-minute attempt (and the day I had to book a room), I luckily, came across this hotel. Why I never encountered it prior, is a complete mystery, as all of my searches of the area were rather thorough (perhaps all rooms were booked, and therefore, did not show). While the hotel does not offer suites or the other aforementioned amenities I usually choose, the reviews across the Internet, as well as traveler photographs, made my choice very easy. I nearly booked another hotel very close by and am very thankful that I found this one (the other was not even close in terms of quality). I admit that I was a bit nervous of my choice when pulling up to the hotel. This was not due to area or safety concerns. I was more concerned with whether or not the staff was professional, courteous, and kind, and if the room was as advertised. Let me say that as soon as the doors opened, I was impressed. Anne Marie greeted me with the warmest smile and demeanor - I do not know why, but I instantly knew that I had made the proper choice. She informed me of all the hotel had to offer - and it was genuine and personable - not once did it feel aloof, rushed, or scripted (as if she were simply going through the motions with another guest). Check-in was fast and the information, useful as well. Upon reaching my room, I was even more pleased. Every time I book a hotel (which is often), I always request a top floor, and a quiet location. The room was perfectly located and I was astonished that the staff had actually taken my request into serious consideration, and, complied (I even left a briefer than normal request, as I have experienced hotels that do not seem to ever attempt to accommodate these requests, no matter how expensive). Although the room was not a suite, I was impressed with its size. It was very comfortable in that regard. The view was lovely, the room was exceptionally clean (I inspect every area before settling in - it was one of the cleanest hotel rooms I have encountered), and the bathroom was spacious. I really liked the separate area of the toilet, with its own door. While not unusual, to have it isolated, completely from the rest of the bathroom, was great. I also am usually cold in hotel rooms - not so with this one. I was warm and comfortable at all times. I had read some reviews where guests complained of freeway noise. I heard none whatsoever, and my door directly faced the freeway (though I am unsure if all rooms do). Trust me, with my sensitivity to noise, I would have heard it if it were detectable or an issue. It was not, at all. Other pleasant findings were the Wi-Fi speed - I surfed the Internet without any lag, of various video, that I had to review for a project. I was shocked at its consistency and speed. The safe is a very nice touch and is usually not included at hotels within this rate range. The channel selection and television were excellent (though I did not see a DVD player - I am unsure if I simply missed it). The bed was so incredibly clean, cozy, and comfortable, that I fell asleep, immediately. I never fall asleep as soon as I climb into bed! It normally takes me 30 minutes to an hour to find sleep - even at home. Oh, and the "Guest Directory" included on the room's desk was so helpful. Anything that I had a question about, was covered within it. From the hotel's commitment to save water during the drought, its earth-friendly practices, breakfast and restaurant info - even shuttle information - all (and more) topics were covered. I never once had to call the front desk because of this well thought out, and concise directory. The hotel breakfast was also delicious with a nice selection. One thing to note: I always find myself awakened VERY early by housekeeping at hotels. We are talking as early as 6AM-7AM. If I am not awakened by the sound of vacuums, it is a knock at the door - regardless of whether or not I have the "Do Not Disturb" sign clearly visible. I heard none of this until a much later time at Bayside. And it was near check-out time and was also, very minimal. Another example of excellent staff? I had to grab something from my car and it was absolutely pouring outside. I was unprepared (I did not even bring along a coat). Xochiti (I truly hope I am not misspelling her name) lent me an umbrella to use so that I could stay dry. She also was kind enough to accommodate me with a later checkout (1 hour), in order for the rain to subside, so that I would not have to drive home in the unsafe downpour. I was truly thankful for this thoughtfulness. This review is rather long, but I had to share what a perfect stay I received. When in the area (perhaps, even when anywhere close to it), as long as the service mentioned above remains, this is the only hotel I will stay at. I have stayed at much more expensive hotels all over the world, and have not been more satisfied, in years, than I was with BEST WESTERN PLUS Bayside Hotel. Book here. You will not regret it! (P.S. I would pay extra if you could reserve a specific room at hotels. I never considered this, prior to my stay, here at Bayside. How great would that be?)

Was in Oakland for a deposition and needed a hotel to meet a client and spend the night. Picked the Best Western Plus due to its reviews and it did not disappoint. Very updated, clean rooms and one of the best features were the sliding glass patio doors that opened so you could have fresh air. Take a room that views the water. Reasonable price as well.

Enjoyed a four night stay here during a thanksgiving visit. Good beds. Nice breakfast. Great coffee. Easy free parking. Friendly staff. Clean facilities. Good restaurants nearby. We walked south around the bay in the mornings and enjoyed ourselves and felt safe. Pool and hot tub were nice. Really, no complaints whatsoever. Not inexpensive, but everything in the area worthwhile is a bit spendy. I'd stay here again.

The staff was wonderful! I would recommend that everyone come and stay at this hotel. The view is beautiful, the service is great and you will have an overall good time. Special thanks to Emmitt and Maryann for making my long stay away from home a beautiful experience.

« Nice one day stay »

My husband and I ended up finding this hotel after a long day of arriving in San Francisco for a Etsy Vendor event, which I was not able to attend due to the two ridiculously long lines and wait time and it was my birthday. This hotel caught our eye because it had a Jacuzzi tub, and that's always a plus for me! Once we arrived, the room was very clean and spacious. I couldn't wait to get in the tub, the jets are adjustable and weren't too loud either. The bed was comfy and the sheets were clean. They also serve complimentary breakfast but hubby and I got up too late so we didn't have many choices left by that time. The only con to this hotel is that it's right off the freeway so it can get pretty noisy. But I still highly recommend this hotel and would definitely not mind staying again.

Felt very clean and safe, since I was traveling alone safety was a big concern. The coffee bar and breakfast was one of the best I have seen. I will search out Best Western Hotels to stay at in the future.

« Perfect Game Day Lodging »

Appreciated the detailed level of customer service at this hotel. The shuttle service was exceptional to and from the BART station, airport and Bevmo. Room was visibly spotless. Unfortunately, it smelled a bit like dirty socks or body odor (possibly the ventilation system?) but not bad enough to complain at check-in. The surrounding area is not great and it was expressed to us numerous times that walking further than a half mile from the hotel was not advised due to safety concerns. Quinn's Lighthouse was recommended by the hotel staff, however it was awful. Otherwise, the front office staff was great.

« Great hotel and location »

This is such a beautiful hotel and the location on the estuary is ideal. The room was one of the best I've been in. There is a deck so you can sit out with a glass of wine and enjoy the view of the water. The room was spacious and well appointed. Breakfast is served in a nice location with a view of the water. Coffee, expresso, etc. are available all the time.

This BW Plus hotel has long been a favorite of ours. The facility is magnificent and the staff is too. We plan trips to include a stay at The BW Bayside and we are always glad to be here. We feel like all the employees, shuttle driver through upper management our satisfaction their priority.

The pool of employees must be limited if these are all you can come up with. Either that, or there should be more time taken to TRAIN not only on their jobs and the wants of the owner, but what the job entails. Customer Service is essential in this type of business and in this case most of it is face to face. A home away from home or a place away from home to catch up and recharge should not be a challenge for the guest needing a temporary place to lay their heads.

    « Great Little Gem »

Pleasantly surprised with this wonderful bayside gem! The common areas of the hotel are lovely. Rooms are very clean, large and have very nice decor. The staff is wonderful and welcoming. The only disappointment was the breakfast. The hot items tasted pre-made. The items were nicely displayed and the eating area has a nice view. Overall an excellent experience while visiting family in Oakland.

    « Airport close »

Just used as a close to the international airport in Oakland, Ca. while going and coming back from Belize. Had first floor rooms both times that were typical BW. I don't really have anything else to say about it but I need to use 200 characters for this to process, lame.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

First noticed this hotel on Trip Advisor.com and decided to stay here because of all the great reviews the hotel received. Once again I was not disappointed. We had a 2 bedroom on the first floor facing the 880. Slept great not being affected by any noise from the freeway. The hotel has a free breakfast that changed items everyday of our 7 day stay in Oct 2015., food was very tasty and always hot. Coffee was very good. My daughter loved the waffles. There was a very nice pool and hot tub facing the water, this was located at the Baysides sister property.(Executive inn) which is a very short walk away and open to all guests of the bayside. Executive Inn also had a steak dinner that was flawlessly prepaired by there bartender and cook Howie.Ihave never had a better steak anywhere for any price and this one was only $15. Al the staff at the Best Western Bayside were very helpful and friendly both on the day shift and the night shift. Employees I had dealings with included Jay,Emmitt and an extremely helpful girl named Xiachi ( I hope I spelled her named right) They had wonderful people operating the shuttle that will take you the ferry at Jack London square, Lake Merritt B.A.R.T or the Oakland airport. We liked to take the very relaxing ferry into San Francisco the most. The whole staff here works together like a family and was very much appreciated. The ultimate credit for all has to go to the manager of these two properties who has put the whole thing together. If I return to the San Francisco area I will consider staying nowhere else. Great Job all

« Good Quality Large Rooms »

I chose this hotel after reviewing other reviews on Trip Advisor. The rooms are very large, there is 24 hour specialty coffee tea and hot chocolate, the breakfast quality is good, and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I enjoyed that there are park benches at the water's edge to go sit and relax, as well as a public waterfront beach trail to walk. The only negative is the sound of the traffic. It never ends. Now if you are one that can take the sound as white noise - then you are all good. I do recommend that you request a waterfront or partial waterfront view room.

« Perfect spot for a weekend in the City! »

We were in town for a Raiders game & found this Hotel much more comfortable & convenient than expected! We stay in Best Western's regularly & this is definitely one of the nicer ones we've ever seen! The view over the Bay is great - the location is great. Can't ask for more! The ladies checking you in were both pleasant & helpful - - will most certainly return! (no restaurant on-site & the one next door isn't really a restaurant - go elsewhere)

    « Great hotel »

The staff is great, the accommodations are great. And the view from the balcony great, fabulous place to watch a sunset. The rooms are large with comfortable beds and big bathtubs. I will note, the hotel is in a bit of a funky area. during the day it's great. A few restaurants within walking distance and nice walking path along the water. But I'm not sure I would go out alone at night in the area. It is very close to Oakland airport . Also, it is on the pricy side for a best western.

« THE BEST PLACE TO STAY BY THE BAY »

I was really impressed with the service I was given. I was greeted by Jay and Emmett when I arrived. I can not believe that everyone was so happy and seemed to enjoy their job. I loved the breakfast; a little for everyone. I was lucky to stay during a Oakland Raider home game. I myself, being from TEXAS, was really impressed to see all the fans. If I do ever return to the Oakland area, this is the place to stay. Oh and one last thing, please broadcast the DALLAS COWBOYS, I'm from Texas, we love our football.

« On the bay, by the highway and not noisy! »

The Best Western is a fantastic location for access and stay. It is near the freeway and just a short drive to downtown, but best is it is on the bay so nice view to sit out and enjoy. Was told a continental breakfast was included, however that was not true... their idea of a continental breakfast is a full breakfast! Scrambled eggs and hash-browns one day, Mexican Omelettes the next! You can even make our own waffles! The bed was very comfortable and the room and bathroom were very clean. If I have to give a negative, it would only be there is no robe hook in the bathroom, that's all I can say bad, and that may have just been my room!

« Take the ferry and save hundreds of dollars. »

My wife and I decided on a 24 hour mini vacation, and thought SF would be a great place to spend it. Mainly because our daughter, son in law and granddaughter live there, and it's only a 75 minute drive from our house. After reading reviews of SF hotels (most of which we've already stayed), I was starting to become discouraged at what seemed to be exorbitant prices. It was then we considered Oakland. I asked tripadvisor for the #1 hotel in Oakland, and the Best Western Plus Bayside came up. In short, this property DESERVES it's number 1 ranking! We were greeted warmly on our arrival, and check in was a breeze. The lobby area is elegant, yet friendly. Upon check in, we were advised that coffee was on the ready 24 hours a day, and that there was fruit and other snacks (complimentary) available in the food area/lobby. Also, breakfast was included in our room. We got to our room, a 3rd floor king overlooking the water. The room is nice sized, and well appointed. The bathroom must have been remodeled recently, as it is much larger than a typical hotel bathroom, with a separate WC, and appointed with upgraded features throughout. The room included a microwave, extensive coffee/tea bar and mini refrigerator. Although we only spent one night, we both commented that we'd be comfortable spending a week in this room. Going through the sliding glass door, we were treated to a decently sized semi-private balcony. Enough room for two chairs and a table, with room to fit a few more people standing. The view overlooked a Coast Guard island, but the water is nice and wide, with views of San Francisco. Definitely a plus! Although we didn't interact much, the staff was extremely friendly and attentive to all our needs. Free parking is another perk you won't find on the other side of the bay. Don't let the neighborhood deter you: we always felt safe. After having spent dozens of nights in The City, I can honestly say this was a $500-700 room in San Francisco, depending on location. We took the ferry (a beautiful 15 minute ride on the water) for about $5 each way, and avoided all the traffic and parking hassles downtown. The Best Western Plus is definitely our first choice now when visiting San Francisco and the outlying area!

« Guest Belongings Not Sent to Lost N Found but Kept By Staff »

This hotel is not in an area were one would feel safe walking along the wonderful path by the bay side at night. It is definitely in area were one must be cognizant of their surroundings. However, on the inside of the hotel, a much safer, clean and inviting atmosphere exists. It is only slightly inconvenient that the facility advertises a pool and sauna on it's premises, but these amenities are actually at the sister hotel next door. The biggest upset to this family was the dishonesty exhibited by the staff after our departure. A very nice coat had inadvertently been left in the closet, yet within less than 48 hours of contacting the hotel I was informed that there was nothing fitting my description of this nice coat in their "lost and found" and that perhaps I had misplaced the item. Had it not been for the wonderful temperatures in the area on the day of check-out, I would have needed my only coat I brought and recognized immediately that I had left it in the closet in our room. It was very much insulting to suggest that I probably had misplaced it. I guess if you stay at this facility and don't particularly care for items that were accidentally left behind, then you will enjoy all that this Best Western Plus has to offer.

We stayed for one night in order to attend my old friend's wedding ceremony. The room was so clean and organized nicely so we could get a good rest before the party. Also, everyone was so nice, and especially the guy at the front desk, whose name was Emmett, was very friendly, polite, and so helpful for our multiple needs, such as extra blankets, free shuttle to the station, and so on. I strongly recommend this hotel to stay.

    « Don't Pass This One Up!!!!!!!!!!!!!! »

I was in love from the moment we walked into the beautiful modern lobby and were greeted by friendly desk staff. We arrived to our bayside room with large slider doors and patio overlooking the bay. Our room was large and roomy. We had a fridge and microwave that were both used for our three day stay. The large pretty bathroom was to die for with walk in shower and jetted tub. Everything was clean and wonderful. Beds and pillows were wonderful so we slept like babies. Breakfast was a feast! By far the best hotel breakfast I have ever had. Did I mention the coffee bar that is available 24 hrs with any flavor you desired?? We enjoyed the free shuttle over to Jack London so we could hop the ferry and head for San Fran for the day. Free parking! WE WILL STAY HERE AGAIN!

« GREAT PLACE TO STAY IN THE S.F. BAY AREA! »

Employees are fantastic! Emit on the front desk is extremely helpful, going out of his way to ensure the guests are well taken care of. Gabriella, the woman who handles the complimentary breakfast, is always pleasant, greeting everyone with a smile, and making sure whatever the breakfast is that morning is well stocked, hot food is hot, and cold is cold. The complimentary shuttle service to Jack London square, Oakland airport, BART, etc. is a great time and money saver. While the view at the front of the hotel is of I-880 and railroad tracks, the rear is beautiful, looking across at Coast Guard Island, marinas, and the San Fran skyline. S.F. is a short ferry ride from Jack London, and BART is an even shorter trip. I had a 2 week stay on business, and when I have to come back to the Bay area, I intend to stay here!

We decided to visit and made no previous reservations. All places were booked except this one. SCORE!! King bed on lake side with free breakfast. This place is beautiful with a bathroom straight out of HGTV. Staff was friendly and amazing. Wish the dog didn't have to spend the night in the car. They don't allow pets. That was only down side. Will come back though.

    « Great stay »

This hotel is everything reviewers said it would be. The room was spacious and the waterfront view was lovely from our balcony. Staff was very helpful...gave maps and directions, printed our boarding passes and arranged for shuttle rides. Parking was free as was the breakfast. The hotel is about 10 minutes from downtown Oakland and about 10 minutes from the airport. A free shuttle takes you to the airport or to Jack London Square where you can catch the ferry to SF. FYI... the hotel is in an "industrial area" and not really within walking distance for restaurants or shopping but it was quiet in the hotel. If you have a car, it is convenient enough. We stayed 3 nights. Each was a different price. I would defiintely stay there again.

« Straight out of Oakland!! »

Went to Oakland for the Raiders/Broncos game. Stayed at the Best Western Bayside. Really an excellent choice. Shuttle from the airport to the hotel, easy check in very nice and helpful front desk and an absolutely terrific (huge) room with a beautiful view of the water, a really good breakfast downstairs with a well thought out coffee bar. Everyone that worked there went out of their way to be helpful and were very nice. A shuttle will take you to close by locations or to the BART station and pick you up when you call. The only thing that may be missing is a full service restaurant close by. However go next door to the sister hotel and steak or salmon dinner cooked by the bartender and really really good is only $15.00 All in All a great choice and we will be back soon. Go Raiders!!!

    « Una estancia exellente! »

Staff here are just great. To a person, tried to make the stay a little better. And the folks here really went out of their way to accommodate special requests. Specifically, Jay & Emit. Lots of places in The Bay Area are not that ready and willing to help their travelers out. The rooms are spacious enough, and if you get one with a bayview, you are in for a treat. The Breakfast buffet is good. Cocktails and munchies adequate at the bar next door. Did not eat dinner here, so I won't comment on that. The location is outstanding, and if you get lost in Oakland, it is usually pretty easy to spot the hotel in the city landscape. It is a prominent landmark on the water!

« Very attractive hotel near the freeway »

This is a nice hotel. The lobby is gorgeous and the staff are friendly and helpful. My room was huge and attractively decorated, with a beautiful view of the water. The neighborhood seems a bit sketchy, but it's quiet, close to the freeway, and convenient to downtown Oakland. Breakfast was adequate, if nothing special, and served in a nice lobby room with a great view. Downsides: Very limited parking -- I had no problem finding a spot when I checked in, but when I went out and returned later, I had to park way the heck down by the Motel 6. WiFi kept cutting out and was basically unusable (I didn't bother reporting the problem, as I was only there for the one night). Price was a little on the high side. Still, if I needed a room in this part of Oakland, I'd happily stay here again.

    « Comfortable and Convenient »

This Best Western Plus was one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long time. It was well situated on the Embarcadero of Oakland, close to downtown and close to many attractions: Jack London Square and Merritt Lake. The facility was beautiful and the accommodations were very comfortable. I will return again.

My boyfriend and I went to a music festival on Treasure Island. We purposely choose not to stay in the city and choose to stay in Oakland. We didn't want to deal with the bustle in SF after the festival. Boy did we make the right choice! The Best Western was the perfect alternative. We would set this up again.

    « EV Drivers Beware! »

I have written many reviews for Tripadvisor, and up to now, have only written to give positive feedback, but I need to send a warning to any other guests who mistakenly assume that the charging station at this hotel is for the use and convenience of their guests. We have stayed at this hotel at least 4 or 5 times for business meetings in the Bay Area and have just left the hotel after a 3-night stay. Unfortunately, it will be our last visit. One of the major reasons we stay here is because we have a Tesla and require the use of a charger during our stay. Every day, beginning with check-in, we were told that the charger was in use by the front desk clerk clerk and that he would "let us know when he was finished charging". There was a second employee using the charger during the evening hours. We were able to connect the first day in the late afternoon and, as we always do, kept track of our charging app so that we could immediately go down and disconnect when we where through; when our app signalled us that charging was complete we immediately went down and disconnected. We came back from a business meeting on day 2 and were, again, told we could have the charger when the employee's "car was done charging". We waited until called at which time we went down and plugged in our car; fifteen minutes later my husband checked the charging app and discovered our car was no longer charging. He went down and found that the other employee had unplugged our car and plugged in his own. They claimed that our car was done charging because the charging port was flashing and we explained to them that the Tesla "flashes" while charging and is fullly charged when the light goes solid. My husband wrote a reasonably polite letter, considering the inappropriateness of the employee's action, pointing out that removing someone else's charging cable violated all the rules of EV etiquette. May I also point out that both of the employees' vehicles were hybrids which means that charging their vehicles is a luxury; our car is fully electric which dictates that a charge is a necessity. We will not be back!

« Oakland flight to Belize »

This hotel was awesome. I messed up the date on my reservation, by a whole month! When we showed up at the reservation desk, I did not have a room for the night. As we had a 6AM flight the next morning, I did not really want to drive back home and get up at 3AM. The hotel desk was so very helpful, she arranged for us to have the last room. At 9pm it was cleaned and we were able to stay for the night! We will be back for the "mistaken night", just to enjoy! I really appreciate what the desk clerk did for us that evening!!!!

« Trouble with service dog »

We were traveling from Columbus Ohio to attend a National Board meeting for a major nonprofit organization that provides service dogs to the disabled. We decided to spend three days in Oakland to visit our son and chose this hotel because of the favorable reviews. The reviews indicated that a third floor room is a preference to enjoy views of the waterfront. Consequently, my wife requested a third floor room and we were excited to check in at 3 PM and get some rest after our long trip. However, the service desk manager (Jay) took exception to our service dog and indicated that we were not allowed to have our third floor room because of their pet policy. Jay explained that we should have previously indicated that we were arriving with a service dog and would've not been allowed to reserve a third floor room. I tried to explain to Jay that the ADA law does not require us to indicate a service dog will be traveling with us and furthermore a service dog is not a pet. Jay very rudely told us that if we were going to stay in his establishment it was going to be on the first floor or he would find us another hotel. Being the President of the Regional Board for Canine Companions for Independence, I am very familiar with the Department of Justice laws as it relates to service dogs under the ADA legislation. I printed the relevant section of the ADA laws and try to explain to Jay that he cannot discriminate access to the third floor because of my service dog. Jay blasted me again saying that I was being demeaning to him and that he knew the law and was going to ask me to leave his hotel. Additionally, I talked to the corporate Best Western customer service agent who also stated that they could not overrule the local Best Western franchisee's pet policy. I must say, this is beyond belief that a major hotel chain is unfamiliar with the ADA laws. A service dog is not a pet and cannot be used as the source of denying equal access. We had to wait 2-1/2 hours until a room was cleaned on the first floor. It was extremely stressful for my family and we were required to check in to the first floor room adjacent from the service desk. Later that evening I was able to reach Jay's supervisor by phone who completely understood and corrected the situation by moving us to our assigned room on the third floor. Now the good, this hotel has a great staff (other than Jay) is well located, clean and great views of the water (if you are above the first floor). If I did not have the terrible experience with Jay I would give them a 4-5 star review. Sadly, Jay made our stay a bad experience. An experience that I have not encountered since being a quadriplegic with a service dog. In my opinion, Jay should not be behind the service desk (maybe behind a broom but not behind the service desk). He was extremely rude and was extremely uninformed with the federal ADA laws.

« Not interested in customer service. »

It's too bad this hotel management is not interested in customer service because the rooms are beautiful. First of all, when you book a water view room and are paying $250 a night, you shouldn't have the loud freeway in your view. The website should say "partial view" or "side view" so you can choose what you are paying for. Second, if you are offering a shuttle service every 30 minutes to Jack London Square you should make sure your customers can take that shuttle. After a seven hour drive we wanted to relax and take the shuttle to eat. We were told by the girl at the desk that she was told not to let any more people take the shuttle because they had too many stops already. It was 7:30pm. You should accommodate your customers. SO we had to get back in the car and pay for parking at the square. The room smelled like dog, we opened the slider to get fresh air in, which helped the smell. When we were checking out, we let the girl at the desk know we were disappointed and she said the manager was busy at the moment, but she would make sure to have the manager call me to discuss the situation. I never got a call from the manager. No surprise. I would have considered coming back if the manager cared enough to follow up and do something so we would be satisfied, but we will not be back.

    « Oakland Game »

When we exit the area was not that beautiful, it took us to some ugly streets. We were kind of scared because we were not from Oakland. As soon as we arrived at the Hotel it was very nice. Its by some train tracks, and the port. The staff was so helpful and gave us maps and places to visit. its near the ports, the view was beautiful. The hotel is near Jack London a tourist place, about 4 minutes drive. Jack London had stores, Restaurants, music to dance. You also can take the ferry to San Francisco. We would stay again for more time. It was our first time in Oakland, we were there to see the Raiders play. We like the service and the rooms were clean. Room temperature was perfect. Even thou it was by the train tracks and port it was very quiet an peaceful. Breakfast was good especially when we were able to enjoy it by the bay. Definitely book this hotel again.

    « A great Bay Area stay »

This is a great hotel and a good price for the bay area. Only a 10min, drive to SF yet Oakland has a charm of it's on. The room was much larger then expected and the photo's do not capture how spacious they are. They have a lot of room for travel bags. The bathroom was as the best I have experienced in most all the hotels I have stayed in over the yrs. bath and shower separate, toilet with door, soft towels and nice soaps. Breakfast laid out nicely with fresh items and a view of the water. Room service tops and I did not hesitate to leave a good tip. My husband also agrees with this review. One downside. I used a rewards gift card with a number that was emailed to me from BW since I am a rewards member. The front desk accepted this not with the best effort. I gave him the whole page however when I checked and about an hr. on the road I noticed they did not give me the discount. I called and was given directions to email the rewards # since they "Lost" the page. It did not go through however I am sure BW will take care of everything as I made contact again. I have been a BW rewards member almost exclusively for over 15 years and they always correct any complaints. After all staff were good and things just happen. Only mention this if others are planning to use their rewards at BW's anywhere. Will recommend anyone to stay at Best Western PLUS Bayside Hotel, Oakland. Janis

We had a room with a water view. The room was large, had a very comfortable bed, good bathroom with separate shower, coffee, good towels and good amenities. Room safe, fridge with free water. « Great rooms, comfortable beds, nice breakfast »

We stayed here to make the most of a weekend in SF. We were easily able to get the BART or the Ferry into the central tourist area. The BaRT is ten minutes away in a taxi. We had our little girl with us (2) and the receptionist Martha was really helpful and suggested that we visit Fairytale Land - a lovely half day spot for children under ten. Breakfast at the hotel was fine. No dinner but you can go to Quinns Lighthouse - just up the road which has live music and great burgers and a good selection of Ales.

« Better than expected- Great! »

I booked this hotel not knowing the area - I really didn't want to stay in a concrete jungle near the airport. I was worried because it is right on the freeway. I loved the location because it is so easy to get anywhere. Our room faced the water and it was great. We watched the sunset against the skyline of San Francisco and the crews when they were practicing in the morning. The hotel itself was very comfortable and welcoming. I love that they always have fruit and coffee and tea available. All and all a great experience.

« nice room and views but over priced »

Pros: the room was good size with nice furniture and a very comfortable bed. The sunset was beautiful off the patio, and the room was quiet when the patio door was closed, The air conditioning worked well and was quiet. The Jacuzzi tub was nice. The hotel is easily accessed off the freeway. A USA Today newspaper was freely available. The staff were helpful. The WIFI was fast. Parking was free. Cons: the room was expensive ($257 with tax) and the breakfast was rather meager (hot food consisted of sandwiches with biscuit, fried egg, and sausage and make-your-own waffle) compared to other higher end hotels I have stayed at. There was only one sink in the bathroom and the toilet was located in a separate small room accessed through a heavy door. Light switch for toilet was adjacent to the sink. As the hotel is 100 yards from the freeway, when the patio door was open there was considerable noise where we were (on the end units). The television was rather diminutive given the room size.. The fitness room was small with a single treadmill, stationary bike, and elliptical. There was a set of cables and a few kettle weights. We came back to the hotel around 930 on a Monday evening and the lot was full. We had to park in the lot in front of the Executive Inn, at the opposite end of the hotel from where our room was.
