Yosemite hotels are nestled in the most stunning region of California where bass fishing and hiking are beloved daily activities. Madera County is known for hosting Yosemite National Park. Hotels near Bass Lake and hotels near Yosemite are a little different, but none offer the kind of home-style pampering that this Oakhurst hotel dishes up. A park-like setting is our backyard, but that's not what sets us apart. Our friendly service, spacious rooms and stunning views do. We have a restaurant on-site, where delicious waffles, sweet fruits and pastries, and 100% Arabica coffee is served every morning. Two swimming pools, indoor and outdoor, provide a relaxing retreat year-round. We're only 15 miles from the South Gate of Yosemite National Park, so outdoor lovers are in paradise at this BEST WESTERN PLUS Yosemite Gateway Inn hotel. Hiking, fishing, and fly fishing tours are all favorite activities. Zip Yosemite is an exciting, adrenaline-packed adventure for the entire family. Visit Nelder Grove in the Sierra National Forest, where the Giant Sequoias call home. Centrally located to many attractions, free Wi-Fi, free parking and a pet-friendly environment is the recipe for a perfect getaway. Our Oakhurst hotel is proud to regularly host business travelers, too. We welcome employees of the National Forestry Department, Kaiser Permanente® Medical Center and community medical providers. Whether your travels are for business or leisure, you'll be treated like honored guests. Indulge yourself with well-appointed rooms and the wonder of the area. California is all about relaxing and enjoying the good life. You'll never want to leave, and it will quickly become one of your favorite destinations. « What's not to love »

The grounds are very nice. the rooms and buildings are older but in good shape. The whole property has a "charm" about it. We've been to Oakhurst to visit family many times. The hotel is perfume for meeting and dining without breaking the wallet.

    « So Relaxing »

This was our first time to Yosemite. What a great choice of Hotels, the rooms were spacious, clean and very quiet. They had coffee in the room and the bed was very comfy after a long day trekking in the park at Yosemite. We were on the ground floor which was good especially with all our luggage as coming from Australia. Would have liked a fly screen on the door so that I could keep it open for a while, was hoping to hear some of the wild life but it wasn't to be. The restaurant served a very good breakfast, will certainly come back to this hotel if in the area again.

« Clean and friendly - Would stay again »

I would recommend this hotel, we stayed here for a few nights while visiting Yosemite park, I stayed with my husband but was travelling in a group of friends. The room was large and clean. We had parking outside of our lodge. The staff were very friendly, and the food in the restaurant was very good.

    « Lovely »

We spent 3 nights here when we visited Sequoia and Yosemite. It's a beautiful place, and the rooms are top notch. The pool and jacuzzi are indoors and there were times we had them to ourselves. Plenty of places to eat nearby, and the local shops have an oldy worldy feel. Wifi wasn't great but the rest made up for it.

« Lots of good points »

Reasonable price and lovely Alpine style reception area. Room was good and bathroom large enough. Front door directly next to car parking area and back patio door opened to pleasant garden area. We tried the indoor pool and hot tub. The dining option on Sunday night was limited by only having one chef and one server, we went out for dinner. Breakfast was average.

    « Beautiful setting! »

Lovely and cozy hotel set in the hillside and surrounded by trees. Close proximity to Yosemite entrance. Felt like I was Snow White in a story book cottage. It is undergoing remodeling, but our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Microwave and mini fridge were included. Price was amazing. Quaint little town with friendly people and business owners that go out of their way to make you feel welcome.

    « Great Experience »

The Yosemite Gateway Inn was perfect for my most recent business trip. Very good value hotel! Clean rooms, nearby eateries and VERY high-quality complimentary wifi make this a hotel that I absolutely recommend to anyone staying in the Oakhurst area.

    « Beautiful hillside setting »

This was our first time to stay in Oakhurst on our way to Yosemite. The Best Western's hillside woodsy setting was beautiful. We enjoyed walking around checking it out. Our favorite thing was enjoying the indoor pool. It was warm, and again there was that warm, woodsy atmosphere. The rooms are fine, not overly special, but for the price, good. There is a restaurant close by that you are given a discount towards dining. We did not use it, so can't review. There is no continental breakfast in the hotel. We did walk down to Katie's Country Kitchen. We were served by the owner who was very friendly. Also bought a quilt there. See reviews for it. We would stay stay here again and have suggested it to our family.

    « What A Gem! »

Of all the Best Western properties I have visited, this one exceeded my expectations! The grounds are rambling and beautiful. Wonderful customer service at check-in and beyond. Our room had a balcony where we could relax and watch the squirrels and deer. Added bonus was a very nice restaurant right next door! Would positively stay here again!

    « Romantic and comfortable »

Tucked away but still in the middle of Oakhurst. A rustic balcony over looking the garden and part of the mountain. The rooms are clean , well serviced and comfortable. It has a a dated kitchen and bathroom but is excellently working order. The bathroom has a heater which makes the room incredibly warm and is a real treat on those cold days. It also has a microwave and fridge. This was put to great use after visiting Raleys supermarket. Foods esp the mac and cheese with lobster was yummy. The hotel is situated close to Yosemite and is well priced. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « Good Hotel »

It is spread out hotel near south gate of yosemite national park. Car drive to Yosemite valley is appx 1hr 20 min. Room are neat & clean & have shared balcony. Please note that there is no safety box in room, you have to deposit valuables at front desk safety box. Laundry facility available & is useful. Room service is limited.Breakfast was very good.

    « Good value »

Stayed for one night with a family of four. This is one of the best Best Western I've ever stayed close to National Park. Yosemite is about14 miles away. Room is very spacious, clean, semi renovated with new carpet. We stayed in 302 which is on top of the hill. The buildings are surrounded with trees, and have very relaxing environment. Food and service at the restaurant is excellent(with waiter Kalen). We will definitely stay at this hotel again. It is good value for the money.

    5
    « Pleasant stay »

Excellent place to stay for a visit to Yosemite and the surrounding areas. As you would expect from a Best Western the rooms are clean and tidy, the staff were friendly and the indoor pool and spa bath were great. Very reasonable pricing too. Highly recommend this hotel. Oakhurst is a fabulous spot. Also no need to eat at the attached restaurant as there are loads to choose from in town.

« Good place to sleep after a long day at the park »

This hotel is conveniently located on the highway leaving Yosemite park from the South Gate. It's a big hotel with lots of buildings and our room was in the very edge of the property. We booked a family room with three double beds, the room was very clean, had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker, 2 flat screen TV's that had a bit of a problem with reception. We didn't try any of the hotel facilities as we were there for one night only. Park access is easy as the South Gate of Yosemite is only 30 minutes away. All in all I'm glad I chose this place.

    3
« simple, clean, old and cheap »

Its a little tired, but simple and cheap. its very near the gate to Yosemite park and this is a bonus. Beware if you get a room such as 220 or 120 as these are next to the laundry and they start at 4 am !! I thought it would be a one off but it was not so I did not say anything until day three. the staff said that no one started at that time... I hate people that blatantly lie.. I saw them with my own eyes when I got up to take a look as the noise of emptying laundry carts was to much ..... If I had to give money dependent on the stay because of the nightly disruption I woudl have refused to pay the full amount. Dean in the bar was a wealth of information. No doubt would have been different if I was in a different room, so its really easy don't rent out rooms which have laundry next to the room...

    3
    « Simple and cheap »

Clean but quite old, dated and noisy due to the paper thin walls. If the neighbors flush the toilet, you'll have to turn up the volume of the TV... Mattresses were way too soft, woke up with a back ache every morning. The best feature of this hotel is that it's located in a lovely well kept park with even a waterfall. Maid service is awesome, staff at the reception could be a bit more friendly.

    4
« Close and comfortable to Yosemite »

Convenient and close to Yosemite, about a 1/2 hour drive to southern entrance.NIce western themed decor in the lobby and a friendly, helpful staff. Restaurant, good food and lounge with TV's across the driveway.Watched a playoff game with a good selection of craft beers.Pleny of options within walking distance. Only downside was no free breakfast, ala BW, but plenty of options within town.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

The Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway was super close to the Yosemite NP. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. After a long drive it was very nice to see a friendly face. Enjoyed our stay at this hotel.

    « Great Value »

A great venue at a really good location. Friendly staff and good food. Our second stay was every bit as good as our first and we fully expect to visit this hotel again. It's proximity to Yosemite makes it the ideal location.

« Great Family Hotel near Yosemite »

My family and I love this hotel. We stay here every time we head up to Yosemite. For families, I recommend booking one of the family rooms that have three queen beds. Rooms are always clean and cozy. Prices are very reasonable. There are also a number of great restaurants nearby. I think this is one of the best places in Oakhurst so bring your kids and extended family. They will love it!

    « Good Night's Sleep »

My husband and I stayed at this location while visiting Yosemite. Got a great rate of $89/night. Lobby resembles a chalet as do the accommodations. The rooms are grouped in small L-shaped buildings creating a campus/resort feel. The indoor pool and jacuzzi are at the top of the hill (we were in Bldg. 3 (#315) and I believe there were 4 buildings total. There was also a laundry area that I didn't use. Along the way to our unit there was a small waterfall, picnic area with grills, open spaces for the kids to romp or spread out a blanket and loads of trees. There may be a special event building because, I believe, a wedding took place while we were there. The location was about 3 hours from the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles) and it was about 20-30 minutes to the South entrance of Yosemite. Due to the winding road and the refusal of slower traffic to use turnouts, an hour to Yosemite Valley can be expected. Rooms were cozy but dated but that added to the chalet/cabin feel of the whole area. Nice size room and bath with a small kitchenette complete with microwave, sink and hidden, under counter, fridge. An added bonus is a small balcony. Only two floors makes having an elevator unnecessary. Both my husband and I slept like a rock and woke up much later than usual. Lots of small restaurants in the area. We preferred to bring ours to the room, put up our feet and enjoy in private. Great staff. Friendly and upbeat. I found the attached restaurant to be unremarkable and on the one day I ate breakfast at the location, the kielbasa had a cold spot in it, my "scrambled soft" eggs were delivered "hard", my hash browns were lukewarm (as was the plate in general) and my toast was missing. The restaurant (a huge place) was not full so am unsure why the tepid food or missed item. No other meals were eaten there so I cannot attest to any improvement in lunch or dinner. There is a discount for hotel guests. I would definitely stay here again unless I could get a better price closer to the entrance. Being closer to the entrance would mean less restaurants/gas stations. You don't want to get gas inside the park. We paid almost $4/gal. I topped of my tank at every opportunity prior to entering or getting near the park.

« Great place and price is Amazing! »

We stayed one night on our way to Yosemite. This is a quaint, cabin like feel hotel. The grounds are lovely and the rooms were spacious and clean. We had more than enough room with 2 adults, a baby and our dog. Each room has a small kitchenette with a microwave and a mini fridge. You are only about 20 minutes to the entrance of Yosemite and there are plenty of places nearby to grab food, gas, supplies etc nearby. This is a must stop on your way to Yosemite

    5
« Nice hotel close to entrance Yosemite, value for money »

We stayed one night on way to Yosemite. Spacious room, good bed. Refreshing swimming pool (especially after 3 hours drive this really did well). Friendly staff. Good food. Ideal stop on way to Yosemite, but also suitable for longer stay, in this case request a room close to swimming pool.

« Plus was only on the size »

We spent a night there before visiting Yosemite. It is located very convienently for southern entrance to the park. It is like a motel with indoor and outsoor pools but we had no chance for them. We arrived later in the night, the check in was quick and efficient. We were given a room with 2 queen beds out on the street so it was quite noisy starting early morning. The room itself was very huge, even with 2 queen sized beds it seemed like barn, empty and a bit outdated, not cosy at all. Bath drainage was very poor. Internet worked ok. Breakfast was not included in the rate, there is a restaurant on site. We went there in the morning, were asked to wait for 5 minutes to be seated. After 15 minutes we saw many tables undone as there was a big group having breakfast. Clearly not enough staff to manage restaurant in the breakfast hours. As nothing happened even after waiting more we left for another place in the town which was even cheapier. We were not the only ones turning around after quite a wait.

« Hotel was ok, food was great »

We stayed the night on the way out of Yosemite. The decor in the room was very old looking (70's) but the indoor pool was excellent. Overall the hotel was worth the very fair price they charged. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We ate in the restaurant that night and the food and service was amazing. I had the best burger i have ever eaten! Blue cheese and bacon burger. My fiance had the salmon and garlic potatoes and she loved it to! On our trip to California this has been the best food we've had so far.

    « Bonnie Lingle Review »

The stay at Best Western Plus in Oakhurst was a wonderful experience. It was close to the south entrance to Yosemite Park, and we went to the park two days in a row. I loved the setting of the hotel, the street was not visible, only lots of trees, it was like being in a forest. We were so glad that we chose this hotel, and would recommend it to friends and family.

« Good Choice for Yosemite Visitors »

We were traveling from WI to Yosemite & this was a good choice to stay, as it is only about 12 or 14 miles outside Yosemite. We arrived early & there was no problem with early check-in. The gal was very friendly & I had said we have been traveling at Best Westerns & could she check & see if I received the AARP discount. We hadn't, so she gave me the discount, which was nice since we were staying 2 nights. We had a Queen Suite since that was the only room available when we made the reservations. It was huge. It had 3 queen size beds & very spacious. The rooms are older, but they were very clean. They were up a hill & away from all the traffic, so it was quiet. They have a bar & restaurant onsite & offer discounted prices for breakfast, we had a drink at the bar & the bartender was very friendly & informative about the town & history. We also had dinner there & the dinner was very good~ and served with a nice presentation. The visitor information is right down the road & was very helpful.

    « Lovely setting! »

We loved staying here. The indoor pool and spa was a definite bonus and convenient for our room. The guy in the bar was friendly and informative about the area. Our room (318) was nice and quiet at the back of the grounds with a pretty leafy outlook. Two comfy queen beds in the generous-sized bedroom. Would definitely recommend.

« Great location after leaving Yosemite »

Have stayed here before, always clean and organized. Managed to reserve a 2 room unit which works well when travelling with friends. Good pool which is welcome after busy day in the National Park. Handy restaurants apart from one on site

« Huge Rooms, Great Value »

Stayed in room 337 up at the top of this large complex. Rooms are huge with nice bar area with microwave, frig, and sink. Bathrooms are large, and the room is huge, with a small veranda also. Only thing I wished for was a way to leave the door open during the day or night to let in air. No screen door, so it would only invite bugs. Also, no free breakfast. You get a 25% discount in the restaurant on premises.

    5
« Not what we expected! »

We made reservations just the day before and were delighted that they had a room available. We were even more delighted at the size and comfort (it was a handicapped accessible room, and one of the newer additions so it was particularly spacious) The lobby, pool and room decor was woodsy and charming and it was a great deal for the price! We will definitely be back!

    5
« Hotel great, restaurant not so much »

This is a great hotel. The rooms are a generous size and well equipped we had a balcony overlooking the valley with comfy seats for sundowners (although we did get a bit of road noise). There is also a decent indoor pool which was nice and warm. Experience of the restaurant wasn't great (have posted a separate review about that).

    5
    « Great place - great location - a good choice »

We spent three nights here and it was an ideal choice for staying outside of Yosemite NP. It was about a 90 minute drive to the park, and an exciting one at that, knowing that you're on the way to Yosemite, and that first magnificent view of the valley from just outside of the tunnel. The hotel is clean, offering a comfortable bed and room - interestingly decorated - with nice grounds. We saw some good wildlife right outside our window - deer and squirrels. Plentiful parking. Serves a real good breakfast. The staff are lovely, too.

    4
« Clean hotel before entering Yosemite »

We drove up from Sequoia National Park and stayed one night here before entering Yosemite Park. It was clean and a lot cheaper than another night's stay in the park. Near many restaurants, grocery store and gas available here too.

    5
    « Awesome and Clean »

I would stay here again if ever in the area. The staff was outstanding, the rooms were clean and comfortable and the location was great. The room was not outdated much and the beds were very comfy. It was also nice and quiet come night time so that was good to be able to fall right to sleep without any nonsense.

    4
« Cosy, clean, well equipped close to Yosemite »

My family enjoyed a couple of nights in a spacious room with a good sized, renovated bathroom and enjoyed an easy to use fireplace, soaked in a spa and enjoyed a scrumptious a la carte breakfast. This cosy Inn is in an excellent location just outside the south entrance to Yosemite National Park and one of the best view points, Glacier Point. There's a restaurant and bar onsite with no shortage of choices of drinks and food. Enjoy!

« what a pleasure to stay at Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn »

Very impressive before we even arrived, received via e-mail, directions, map (right from our home) to hotel. Upon arrival, were greeted kindly, informed of everything, shown our room, which was beautiful, staff was wonderful and friendly. Thanks for a great time.

    « A good place for a short stay »

Everything at this hotel was booked online, so my wife called and got us a room, as we came up here to have dinner at the Elderberry House. We told them that this was one of the first hotels we had ever stayed at as a couple and they managed to find us a spot. There is nothing fancy about this hotel. Hotel is a little dated, but for the most part, it is very clean. The grounds are pretty with lots of greenery and a pretty pool. The beds were comfortable and the shower worked great. We had an electric fireplace that put out a lot of heat. And the AC worked great. There was a pretty painting of Yosemite behind our beds. That was interesting. The only thing was the water had a strong sulfur smell. Not sure what that was all about. Overall, a short but nice stay.

    5
« We got lucky with this one!! »

We'd never been to Yosemite, so knew very little about it, which was the best approach, and what to do once there. Situated on seven acres, it's more like a resort than a hotel. The staff is knowledgeable, efficient, accommodating. They had everything we needed, including maps and advice on making the most of our stay. As for the hotel, it had great wi-fi, beautiful indoor and outdoor pools, spa, workout room. The rooms themselves were a bit dated, but super clean and spacious. There are many good restaurants, grocery stores and coffee shops nearby, so Oakhurst is a very good choice. The price was most reasonable for all one gets.

    « Visiting Yosimite »

We arrived at this hotel driving from San Francisco and were checked in quickly and efficiently. As we only had one whole day we were recommended to take a conducted tour, which was excellent. We pre paid this later on before going into dinner. Our room was on the ground floor as requested and was clean cool and comfortable, near to a car park so was handy for our cases. There was also an on site laundry which was great. We walked down to the adjacent restaurant after settling in and we were served by Trevor who was lovely and efficient. The food was brilliant, the menu had a good choice. We also had breakfast the next day before our early start on the pre booked tour and was served efficiently by Sheryl. She was so nice and took great care of us both mornings we were there, such a lovely lady. Brendon was our last waiter before we left and he was also very efficient and looked after us well. A lovely hotel with really good and caring staff who it seemed worked hard at looking after the guests. There was also a lovely indoor warm pool which was welcoming after a long drive and it also had a hot tub and easy steps getting into. Also the hotel rooms were very well equipped and clean, warm and comfortable. A good hotel on the outskirts of the park but if you was going on a pre booked tour, which I would thoroughly recommend, it wasn't a problem. Definitely would stay here again.

    2
    « Disappointing »

Not as represented on website. Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we requested a newly renovated, quiet upstairs room in the back, with a view. The room was dark, dingy, and VERY outdated. The "view" was a driveway! Called Front Desk; after much arguing, the woman said, "it sounds like you want one of our NEW rooms." You bet we did! They moved us to their one new building (out on the street) to a ground-level, handicapped accessible room. It was decent, but nothing at all special. The door latch was broken. People upstairs seemed to be dropping bowling balls throughout the night. There are newer motels in Oakhurst. Stay in one of them. You'll be happier.

    « Yosemite lodge »

Absolutley amazing hotel full of charm and character and really clean . We stayed for three nights and all were good . Ther was a coffee machine in the room , which always goes down well with me. There ia a nice restruant right next door which again was perfectly fine . Would certainly stay again.

    3
« Big old rooms really far from Yosemite Valley »

Nice grounds, all on an incline--so if you have disabilities make sure you ask for a room to meet your needs. Rooms are big but old and a little funky. They are clean, just funky. (Stained toilet/curtains, a few bugs, satin bedding??) Not too many other options in the area. Just turn/cross your eyes and you will be ok. Hotel is a minimum of 1.5hrs from Yosemite, which for me is way too far and not really a good option for visiting the park. I would rather stay in a tent cabin then make the drive everyday to the hotel.

    3
« Definitely an older Best Western »

This Best Western does not appear to have been updated in a long time. The location is a good base for visiting Yosemite if you want nearby supply shopping and a choice of places to eat. The hotel restaurant served a fine breakfast, but the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed. Bottom line: okay if looking to visit Yosemite and need to remain on a tight budget. Otherwise, there may be other better choices closer to the park.

    4
« Our second visit to this hotel and we thought it nicer than 3 years ago »

We enjoyed our couple of days here very much. The room was large, comfortable, a large bathroom with a very nice vanity unit where it was possible to have room for all toiletries. The towels are most definitely better than last time. The bed was comfy but the pillows were on the firm side, although they were kind enough to provide softer ones for us. The rooms are spread out over a larger site, giving an impression of space. There is a reasonably priced laundry room, with clean efficient machines. The restaurant gives 25% discount for breakfast. Would recommend the hotel as a good place to stay.

    2
    « Close not enough »

We enjoy staying at Best Western Hotels during our travels. They are usually in good shape and very accommodating with breakfast included. The room we had here was very dated and breakfast was not included. It's close to the entrance to the park but we would chose something different the next time around.

    3
« Good location but very very dated »

Great location on the way to Yosemite. And the facilities and grounds are great-outdoor pool was nice. Rooms large and clean but very very old fashioned and dark. They need some level of updating for sure. Staff very friendly.

    4
    « Quiet and (kind-of) Convenient »

Whilst the room wasn't the most contemporary accommodation I have stayed in, the Best Western at Oakhurst served it's purpose pretty well. Just 20(ish) miles from the Yosemite Gate, it's quite convenient as a base to explore Yosemite or if you are simply passing through Yosemite for the day. I would add one word of caution though - it IS only 20 miles from the gate BUT this is a small road that winds up/down through hills, mountains and forest and you do end up driving in a bit of a slow moving convoy which can make the journey quite long - it took me about an hour, so add this to the time it will then take to get to the Valley (for me, in August) it can take what seems like an age. Just leave your hotel early! Back to the hotel. The Hotel grounds are lovely, quiet and actually quite tranquil with an outdoor and indoor pool, vending machines, laundry and Ice all readily available. Reception is very nicely decorated and I kept thinking how fab it would look in the winter! Check in was swift and we were in our room quickly. Parking is available outside your rooms. The room is traditional with a basic bathroom and furniture but the bed was comfortable and the TV was modern and large. The room also had a fridge. Lighting in this room was very dim which gave the whole room a rather gloomy feel. Beware of the safety catches on the doors though - when we left the room in the evening for dinner, we closed the door and the security latch had somehow managed to swing across and lock the door from the inside! When we returned we couldn't get in! Thankfully I actually managed to slide the window open from the outside and get in that way!! I did worry about security after that! We didn't have breakfast or dinner at the hotel. There is a restaurant next to the hotel that offers breakfast and dinner at discounted rates to guests. So in a nutshell, a decent nights stay with no real issues other than the door locking us out, total fluke though (although they could look at replacing these latches or securing the sliding windows).

    « Try elsewhere »

Closest city south of Yosemite off of highway 41. Thought Best Western would be a good choice but room had not been dusted, toiletries were half used. Beds were older for sure. Very dated....very disappointed!

« A nice room in a nice little place »

A good sized room with Fridge and Microwave. Be warned though there is no lift but only one flight of stairs. There is a pool and breakfast is included not a bad spread and the staff were really bubbly. The best thing about this hotel is its location just at tbe end of the Old Town Mariposa....Would recommend Bettes Golden Cojn for good value food and drinks about 209 metres from tbe hotel.

    « Nice room »

We stayed here for one night after a long day in yosemite, the hotel consists of a very Large number of rooms widely spread! The room is big ,clean and the bed was Also ok if you need a place to sleep near yosemite i would advise the best Western !!

    « Loved this place! »

Love love love this place! From the moment we drove into this small Town and saw our hotel, I was excited! The staff were sooo friendly and we got a convenient room right at the front with a car space outside our door. The room was spacious with king bed, fridge & couch. We stayed 3 nights and I would have been happy to stay longer. The hotel has a laundry which was convenient and the breakfast each morning was great. The chef was so lovely. She came out and spoke to everyone and cracked a few jokes. It took 45 minutes to get to the Yosemite National Park. A nice easy drive, which we did for 3 days. The town itself is interesting & charming with a great variety of shops, cafes and restaurants all within walking distances. The town has a very large grocery store also. There is a convenience grocery store right across the road also. I highly recommend staying here for your Yosemite National Park visit. Anywhere closer, is isolated with only the hotels restaurants & facilities. Mariposa has a lot more to offer.

« Have never stayed at a Best Western - but will do so again. »

Am a loyal priority club member for another chain, but they weren't located near the Yosemite entrance. Booked this Best Western and was pleasantly surprised at how clean, and nicely situated on a hill it was. Loved that the indoor pool was right downstairs from our room. Will definitely stay at a Best Western again. I loved that the indoor pool had two lifts for those disabled guests to swim.

« Great for Yosemite visitors »

We stayed here while visiting Yosemite. This is a great place to stay for that. Ver clean, comfortable and friendly. Its about an hour and half to Yosemite Visitors Center and its a nice drive up. After a long day at Yosemite its very relaxing to return to this hotel, relax at the pool or in the jacuzzi. The internet is good and provided over the whole resort property. We stayed 2 nights and also ate both nights at the restaurant, however we find it quite overpriced for what they offer. Breakfast on the other hand was great and they offered discount even. We were alsl very happy with the laundry service. Overall a gold stay and we would recommend it to friends.

« Great place to stay while visiting Yosemite »

I was surprised by this hotel, the rooms are huge! It's about 30 minutes from Yosemite Valley, but be prepared for super curves/windy roads! We never got to check out the pool or restaurant. The rooms do have shared balconies which was nice.

    « Car travels »

As a car club we travel for a yearly three night trip. We chose Oakhurst and Mammoth for our stops. Loved both areas...plenty of places to do and restaurants to eat at at all for all budgets. We walked to two restaurants from the hotel...half the group went to the bbq and another group went to the local fish place....both were given good reviews.

« Relaxing, clean and friendly »

We ate several times at the Yosemite Gateway Restaurant for Breakfast several days, we went to happy hour and dinner one night. The food was fantastic, out of this world! Very fresh, with a wonderful menu. We would highly recommend it. We spent most of our time in Yosemite Park and had limited time to spend looking for restaurants, it was great to have such a wide selection of menu items so close.

« Great hotel for Yosemite visitors »

Situated on a hillside in Oakhurst, one of the 'gateways' to Yosemite, this hotel is in a delightful setting on a hillside with many separate buildings. Clean, quiet, a wonderful indoor pool, much vegetation around, the lobby is fantastic and the desk clerks were most helpful. The shuttle bus for Yosemite stops here, a nominal fee is charged, but if one is staying two nights, well worth it! We enjoyed it!

The 1st room we checked into the carpet was filthy. The front desk upgraded us to a room on the back part of the property that allowed more quiet and privacy with a personal deck overlooking pine trees.

« Pricey for older basic motel on the way to Yosemite »

We paid more than 170 for a basic, 1990s room that was between OK and nice.Only 1 window and tucked away in a dark corner. Comfortable chairs, desk, table, all the basic amenities. Not many places to stay in Oakhurst and the others are also overpriced because of its proximity to Yosemite.. It is clean, the staff were mostly strictly business, but at least one of them was welcoming and interested in making sure we were taken care of. If you are a fan of Ronald Reagan you will love the lobby with all the pictures, statues and flags. If you aren't inclined in that direction you might want to just focus on the front desk. We spent the next night an hour or so down the road at Visalia for almost half the price the next night at a better motel, the Lamp Liter (sic).

« Our visit to Yosemite »

A beautiful property, helpful friendly staff. I searched for the perfect place to stay outside of Yosemite and I found Best Western Plus Gateway Inn, in Oakhurst, California. Everything you need for comfort is right there. Restaurant on site, swimming pool, inside and out, and beautiful grounds that make the property seem hidden and private. Rooms clean and comfortable at an affordable price. Would definitely stay again if in the area.

    « Good Location »

Best Western Oakhurst is at the good location near Yosemite South Entrance. Room is spacious, quiet and equipped with refrig. It is near Vons supermarket that you can prepare for the picnic box easily. If the rest room ventilations improves a little bit, this will be great.

    « great hotel-very scenic »

Great room in a scenic setting ? quite and good sized rooms- we were there with about 100 Mini Cooper club members and had great service at a good price. Hotel is excellent location to Yosemite and other popular area.

    « Good hotel »

Like all other Best western hotels this is also a very nice hotel. Big complex. Rooms are very nice and friendly staff. Pity that the breakfast is not included, but you get 25% discount in the restaurant showing your hotelkey.

    « Gateway to Yosemite »

Comfortable room, discount given for breakfast, good position to gain access to the National Park. The service in the dining room was not quick but adequate. There is an outside pool which we didn't use but heard the families using it.

    « A very nice surprise »

On our way to Yosemite we stayed here for one night. The room was average and clean, it had a nice balcony, so that was a plus. We ate dinner in the restaurant. The food was average but the service was excellent. We went into the connecting bar after dinner and and a fun time with Dene the bartender. He was very busy but took the time to talk to us. He knew a lot about the area. He was an all around great guy. Would recommend the bar to anyone who likes a fun time.

« Could have been a 5 star review but... »

The hotel's room and amenities was great but my check-in experience was hell. The heavy set older lady that checked me in was very unfriendly. We reserved a room a week prior because we knew it could get busy during Labor Day. We arrived early so we asked the lady what other things to do in town while there was no available rooms. She just nonchalantly said, "Umm Yosemite". In a tone that signify, "Duh!". We went on our way to research for ourselves and found a nice train ride close by. And while she was checking us in, she seemed confused that I gave her my ID and reservation papers as if to imply, "What are these for?". Really strange!!! And still no room at about 2:45pm. I took the papers from her and went to the other available front desk person but voila, there indeed a room available. That lady treated me differently than other guests even if I was very polite. Maybe because I was asian? I don't want to think that but I can't help getting the impression.

    « Average hotel »

Unfotunately a bit dissapointed with this hotel, as was not cheap, but is a bit dated and we didnt get a great room - right behind the reception building with a noisy outside condenser; their local restaurant wasnt great either, food was not hot and seemed more as left overs rather than individually cooked meal...i would recommend staying a bit closer to the park or within it.

    « Surprisingly nice »

I tend to not stay at roadside motels because to the street noise and the often sub-par accommodations. This is a rather large place with most of the rooms off the highway in a quiet wooded space. There are five buildings. We heard no road noise. The room was older but clean and our view above the pool and garden was very pleasant. There is a nice restaurant the an adjacent bar. The live music in the bar on the weekend was not very good but good for a laugh. I would stay again to access Yosemite.

    « Stay was fine »

Room was fine, but a little dated. Staff was great. Would give it a 5 if rooms were a little more modern. Restaurant next door has great breakfasts, but eat elsewhere for evening dinner. In a hilly wooded setting complete with deer passing through in the morning.

« Family of 4 for a 2 night stay while visiting Yosemite in late August 2016 »

What a great place and location if visiting Yosemite, if on a budget or unable to get a room in the park. We had 1 room with 2 double beds for 4 adults, it was clean and well appointed with all you need from a budget/mid range hotel. The rooms are set out in blocks of 8 or 10 (I think) set back on the hillside surrounded by trees all rooms have a balcony. Reception staff were excellent nothing to much trouble. Ok, so it takes approx 90 mins to Glacier Point or Yosemite Village but the drive is out of this world, its all part of the experience, it was the last week of August and the roads were empty the views are amazing. If you want to eat in Oakhurst make sure you are there well before 9PM as they stop serving, fortunatly we were able to get back to the hotel as they were open till 10PM. Good selection on the menu, service was great. Would definatly use this as a base if ever this way again

    4
« Very comfortable place outside the park »

This is a good spot to stay in Oakhurst which has some great eating places and is a good alternative if you cannot stay within the National Park. Great one day tour by Discover Yosemite will pick you up right at the lobby. (Needs to be pre booked - see things to do on Trip Advisor). Be advised that although the park entrance is only 14 miles away, it is at least an hour and a half drive to reach the Yosemite Vally. We were very happy with this motel, which has been recently renovated, and would stay again.

« This is 'Where the Magic Happens'? »

The review title is based on our greeting at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and although I'm not sure about the 'magic' to which she was referring, the overnight stay was very nice. This reminded me of an American 'Motel' with direct parking outside the rooms and your own front door! Although we were only there overnight we used the pool and the laundry facilities and had a very good night's sleep.

« Charming hotel to visit Yosemite »

For our roadtrip through California and Nevada we booked this hotel in advance. It was not possible to get all the dates wanted but finally we managed to get at least one night. I stayed here before about 4 years ago and I remembered it as a nice hotel and it still is. Pro's: - Fitting styling to the area of reception hall and hotel terrain. - Clean rooms. - Grand Piano for guests to play in the reception hall! I really loved this being a piano player myself. Cons: - Our room, room 120 was next to the noisy laundry from the hotel. In the morning they start working throughout the day. If you like to get out of bed a little later in the morning, don't get this room. - Fridge was probably broken, it made soo much noise! While writing this I am in a different Best Western where the same make/model fridge works just fine. Pull the plug if you can't sleep because of it. We did. - Restaurant isn't what it just to be. In my previous visit to this hotel, the restaurant offered a buffet for breakfast. That is no more: it is now of menu. However we didn't feel that the restaurant was that great or improved since.

    « Nice! »

Stayed here for 2 nights visiting yosemitie national park. The man at the front desk was very helpful. He Mapped out everything from the nearest starbucks to yosemitie national park when i checked in at midnight. The room was nice and clean. It has a cool painting of yosemitie on the wall. Oakhurst is a cute little town with all kinds of stores close by. Its about an hour and a half away from the main part of yosemitie where you can catch the free shuttle busses to yosemitie points of interest.

« Nice spot for an Overnight Stay »

The pros of this motel - big area with several buildings set back off the road on a hiilside with lots of trees. The room was large with a microwave and refrigerator and a nice balcony to sit out. The restaurant/lounge is open late which is very convenient. The cons of this motel - the rooms are non-smoking but everyone sits on their balcony and smokes like crazy so it may not be possible to enjoy your balcony without smoke fumes. Walking up to our room we were greeted by stinky cigar smoke coming from downstairs. Lots of heavy smoking tourists! Better have designated non-smoking buildings rather than just non-smoking inside your room. On the restaurant, we had a nice experience in the evening in the lounge with a drink and a light dinner, food okay and bartender was super! The next morning at breakfast, completely different experience. Terrible service and pretty bad food - the service was the worst we have experienced.

« Not as close as it seems »

This hotel is only 14-16 miles from the entrance of Yosemite. That sounded close but after the Yosemite gate you have 35 twisting miles to either the Valley Village or or Glacier Point. If you stay here at least coming or going take 49 to Mariposa and then 140 into Yosemite. The drive is scenic and fewer twists and turns. There is bus service from the hotel to the valley and free bus service in the park. This might be a good option. If you are coming from San Francisco you will pass through Mariposa on your way to Oakhurst. Allow a few hours to see their courthouse, old jail and especially their museum. We spent several hours here and could easily have spent many more hours in their museum. At $5 it is a great value and veterans are free. One caution, we had noisy neighbors who talked loudly til 1:30 AM one night. I flet the soundproofing might have been better.

« great spot for a well priced Yosemite visit »

stayed here 2 nights as a base to visit yosemite with the kids. hotel was more than adequate, rooms were large and did exactly they were supposed to. coffee in the extremely large and opulent lobby was strong. theres a great brewery around the corner with awesome food and even better beer. the drive to yosemite was scenic and not particularly long. i would recommend oakhurst as a good economical base for yosemite. this hotel was very good value and ticked all the boxes

« Hiking in Yosemite Park »

We had a total of 5 people so we needed a two room suite. The look and feel of the hotel was great. They also have a gift shop in the lobby area. I feel the price was too high, but everything else was great. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

    4
    « Nice but dated »

You really need to understand location for this one. Yosemite park is about 20 minutes away, but Yosemite Valley is about 80 minutes away. Accommodations in the park book very far in advance. That means that this place (which is somewhat dated but nice) rents for about $100 more than the room would be worth elsewhere. The staff is very friendly, the rooms are clean, and Yosemite Valley is 80 minutes away by car. Far better to book in the park if you can, but this is a good choice if you cannot. Laundry on property, but it is far too small for the size of the property.

« comfortable hotel and 30 min from Yosemite »

During our roadtrip we did plan to stay in Yosemite for two days during the peak in august. The hotel is good and is split into various lodges which are surrounded by vegetation and gardens. Outdoor and Indoor swimming pools are perfect after a long day of hiking. If you do not want to go to restaurants, there is a Von's (Safeways) just minutes down the road where they also prepare great fresh sandwiches! If you are about to use the self-service laundry make sure that you start early as they were very popular with all the guests. Rooms were clean, fridge and microwave were available and Wifi worked perfect. Nice to wake up and already see deer from your balcony.

« Quaint Native Lodge Hotel- handy for Yosemite »

I picked this hotel because it was one of the stop off points for Yosemite tour we were taking the following day. The hotel is located on the main highway and accessible right from the roadside. There is a good selection of shops, restaurants and gas station all within walking distance of the hotel. The hotel itself is quite quirky with lots of parking. There is a native American feel to the place and the whole place is full of paintings done by the owner I believe. You can relate to these better when you have been to Yosemite to see all the points of interest. There are some fantastic views from the restaurants and cabins/rooms. Our suite was near to the front of the hotel and was more like a self-contained flat with sink + microwave, I separate bedroom with 2 queen beds +TV, living room area with TV, sofas and another queen bed. The bathroom was a large size with ample towels and toiletries replenished every day. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the food was very good and a decent selection available on the menu for vegetarians as well as meat eaters. Breakfast was also taken in the restaurant on both mornings we were there and offered with 25% off if you were staying at the hotel. There was also a good selection at breakfast as well of cooked & continental breakfast off the menu as well as juices and tea/coffee.

« Friendly staff, nice facility and value priced. »

The staff and front desk crew were very friendly and helpful in suggesting activities and restaurants. The lobby was rustic and always had fresh coffee. The grounds were nicely landscaped and wooded. Our room double room was a nice size, updated, huge bathroom, cold a/c and a balcony with a mountain view. We didn't eat at the on site restaurant but it looked nice and staff we friendly. The out door pool was a bit small but adequate and there was a nice outdoor jacuzzi. My only complaint was that there were only 6 lounge chairs and 8 regular chairs on the pool deck, so many guests walked in with no place to sit once all the chairs were taken. So my suggestion is to add more chairs to sit as there is adequate room on the deck to do so. The town of oakhurst has many restaurant choices as well as supermarkets nearby. All in all a nice stay and value priced.

    « Nice, but a bit dated »

Nice hotel/motel with fairly big rooms and a nice balcony in the back. Comfortabele beds, cussions not so. No breakfast included but the little kitchenette allows you make your own. No cuttlery though. Room was clean for the most part, but not everywhere. We saw spiderwebs hanging from the ceiling. Also a bit dated. Nevertheless o.k. place to stay if you want to visit Yosemity.

« Great hotel for a road trip »

Stayed two nights as part of a road trip. A hotel with charm and character. Decor a little dated, but very clean and spacious. Nice pool Staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Restaurant is great, home cooking and real character from the waiters. Great location. Nice bars and restaurants in walking distance. A nice base for Yosemite Would stay again for sure.

« Nice city to stay in near Yosemite »

This property is large and appears to have it all. We only utilized the room. At check in the clerk gave her son cash in the middle of our transaction. She was polite about it. Our room lacked natural light. It appeared clean under lamp lights. We had to move a table to use the weak air conditioner. Good nights sleep. No continental breakfast. I discovered my AAA discount was not honored. Thee front desk and later the manager did not correct this. At $169 that's disappointing

    « 2 night stay »

Nice woodland view and in a good position for visiting Yosemite park. Laundrette useful, near pool area too. 2nd floor room, without lifts, may be tricky for older people with suitcases. Meal in hotel disappointing - my husbands wasnt hot enough so he sent it back.Called at Tenaya Lodge for brunch on way to park. Good value 20 dollars, nice food and a drink included. Allow plenty of time for travelling when you get inside the park. we ended up with only 20 mins to spare. Not well signposted as you got nearer and it was very busy.

    5
« Perfect for our needs »

Location - about a 20 minute drive to Yosemite park entrance. Loads of eateries and bars in the vicinity of hotel Room - spacious with a balcony. Had a fridge, coffee maker and microwave. Decent shower. Comfy bed. Amenities - the launderette was a god send as this was a stop half way through trip. Cheap to use and you can buy detergent if required, although we took our own capsules. Pool is quite small and could do with a few more chairs as at the end of hiking days it got pretty crowded. However it was lovely to cool off in and the spa pool was great. We didn't have any meals on site as there are cheaper restaurants in vicinity but they do have a restaurant. Would I stay again? Absolutely!

    4
« Clean rooms near southern entrance to Yosemite »

Nice hotel with rustic feel to rooms. Clean and super friendly staff. The only complaint is that both pools were so full of chlorine it was unbearable to go in the water. The indoor pool was especially pungent, practically smacking you in the face when you open the door.

    4
    « Great amenities »

On the east coast, we only stay in Marriott and Hilton hotels. However, those are limited on the west coast in select areas. We were pleasantly surprised. There were indoor and outdoor pools. The room was recently decorated and very large. There was a small fridge with a sink. There wasn't any breakfast though. There was even a private balcony. It was close to Yosemite and several restaurants closeby.

« A place you will soon forget »

We stayed here on our way to Yosemite Because we couldn't find another option. And that's exactly the recommendation: don't go if you find something better. Just an average, with poor, unfriendly service, rather old rooms and few additional ammenities. And rather expensive for what you get.

    4
« Friendly staff, comfortable lodging »

We stayed her for a night en route to Yosemite and were not disappointed. The lobby was friendly and inviting, had quite a lodge feel. Our room was a good size and had a nice view. Staff were friendly upon check and check out. We went to breakfast at the restaurant where our experience was not as wonderful, the staff did not seem like they wanted to be there. Overall a great little stay.

    2
« Last minute Yosemite trip »

Room wasn't ready until 1.5 hours after check in. Carpets were really dirty and worn. Booked through BW, 2 queen beds turned out to be 2 doubles. Beds, pillows were uncomfortable. Towels were rough and clearly very old. Aside from carpets, room was clean, but very dated.

    4
« Decent rooms and restaurant »

The Gateway Inn is more of a motel than hotel. Rooms are in three or four blocks behind the lobby/reception, up quite a slope - ours was the furthest away! Basic rooms come complete with microwave and fridge, but no cutlery or crockery! Air con works well, which is good as it was boiling outside. It's not the most expensive accommodation but it does just fine and it's really close to be a base for Yosemite. The adjacent restaurant may put off some, as it is a little drab and dated, but see past that and you'll find that the food is excellent and service pretty good too. If you want the luxuries of a hotel and posh restaurant, don't come to the Yosemite Gateway Inn. If you want inexpensive, good value rooms and food then I'd recommend the place.

    « Average/Fair Hotel, Excellent Staff »

Make no mistake you are staying in this hotel/motel for location(Yosemite). The hotel is actually several buildings set into a fairly scenic hillside. We stayed one night in the 3 queen bed, family "suite". 2 queen beds are on one side, divided by a single bathroom, and the third queen bed on the other side. Mini fridge, coffee maker, cable TV. Comfortable beds/pillows. Safe environment. Very worn fixtures and carpeting that definitely need to be replaced. No problems with noise or temperature control. Actually have two pools--one indoor and the other outdoor. We used the outdoor pool....initially no towels were available....after requesting, towels were brought in a matter of minutes. Nice, small pool. All staff members we encountered were very friendly and helpful. It is very apparent that that they have good training. The lobby was very nice. Check-in/out no troubles. Simple truth is this is a dated hotel in need of a facelift; helpful and friendly staff help make up for the hotel's age. Slightly over-priced compared to value.....you would not pay the premium to stay here, except for the close proximity to Yosemite. I would stay here again.

    « FANTASTIC EXPERIENCE »

This is such a great hotel. The appearance alone is enough to make you want to go back again and again. The grounds are immaculate and richly landscaped. Indoor and Outdoor pool, both immaculate! Rooms are amazing. They are big, there are hand painted murals on the walls and the beds are so comfortable. Convenient to drive into Yosemite for the day. The staff is professional and kind. We all loved it!

« Fantastic stay on the doorstep of Yosemite »

We booked a 2 bedroom family suite (room 338) for our family of 4, it was HUGE!!! We had 2 separate bedrooms each with 2 double beds, plus a huge bathroom, vanity area and lobby with kitchenette, plus a balcony. The style of the hotel is rustic which adds to its charm. The town of Oakhurst has plenty of restaurants, including individual family run BBQ places, along with Dennys, Mcdonalds and Burger King. There is a discount grocery store (called 'Grocery Outlet') in the town which was a great find, it had a huge range of provisions at reasonable prices, for example 24 bottles of water for $2.29. We stocked up on rolls, ham, crisps and water and it meant we didn't need to buy anything but an ice cream in Yosemite! Also great for wine ($2.99 for a delicious Chardonnay!) and beer which we enjoyed on our balcony in the evening. The drive to Glacier Point was 1.5 hrs from the hotel, and Bass Lake with its sailing and water sports was about 15 mins from the hotel. We loved this hotel with its friendly staff and would love to stay again if we find ourselves back in the area.

« easy clean friendly staff »

This was a great stay - try to book as far in advance as you can -- usually less expensive then other places around for the quality of the place. eat at the restaurant because they give a 25% discount if you stay there. like it because I called an hour in advance for a group of 10 people -- they were able to accommodate the big group offering great cheerful service. let's face it this area had a lot of tourists and some places service is just plain slow...not here. The hotel is about 20 min from the south gate to Yosemite....still another 1:30 min drive to the valley floor. if you are ok with driving to the park - this is probably better than most places...otherwise you need to book a more expensive place in the park...

« friendly staff, good hotel »

Let's start with "Friendly staff". We received a real welcome, not the standard "can we get your data and credit card" but the staff welcomed us, had a talk about our home and reason for visit and gave us some advice on a nice place to eat based on our wishes. The room itself (we had one with a king bed) was spacious and typical BW style. Most important: it was clean and the bathroom had a good shower. The wifi was fast and reliable. Breakfast is served in a little building next to the small pool. Choice of food was typical BW. A staff member was present to help guests (if desired) with the waffle machine and kept the room clean. Rooms at the back side of the hotel are more quiet. We had one in the front and don't mind to "hear" some traffic but if you awake easy on traffic noise you might wish to get a room at the back side. Overall this BW gave a good impression and is an excellent idea for a night's sleep before moving on to yosemite national park. Mariposa itself is a little town with some restaurants (all kinds), a few gift shops, two small supermarkets and gas stations. I would recommend to fill up at these stations. After mariposa there is only one gas station left in El Portal (right before the entrance gate of yosemite) but that one is 20% more expensive. The gas stations in Mariposa have normal prices. For groceries, the walmart in located Merced (one hour drive before you get to Mariposa) is a good alternative to the local supermarkets.

    « Lovely and relaxing »

Having come over from San Francisco we loved this place in comparison! Lovely spacious rooms, nicely decorated in a Yosemite theme, friendly staff and a pool to cool off in. It's about a 2 hour drive to Yosemite valley village but the drive itself is beautiful with plenty of places to stop and take in the scenery on the way so you don't feel like you have been in the car that long. Wish we had booked for longer

    « Perfect Yosmite stay »

This was a comfortable and cozy property. We loved the decor very country & reflective of the surroundings. The onsite restaurant was also welcomed homestyle cooking & friendly service unlike Vegas! An onsite laundry facility. It's a 30 min drive back into Yosmite Park but a shuttle can be booked and then free shuttles can take you to the main stops the within the park.My favorite outlook was Glacier Point. Overall this stay was refreshing & in a convenient location to town.If staying in warmer weather take a trip to Bass Lake for a swim, paddle board & lunch!

    « OMG »

Loved this hotel. It was laid out like a resort. My room had a little patio with table & chairs. Enjoyed sitting out there with my glass of wine. Room was spacious & very well laid out. Had a frig & microwave. Everything was clean & the bed was great. The only downside was no breakfast like all BW I have stayed in have. I will be back. Thanks for a great stay.

    « A relaxing one night »

We stayed here for one night as a pass-trough from San Francisco to Yosemite Park. This Inn is exactly as depicted on the website. A very stylisch lobby, completely in the spirit of Yosemite park. The room was very nice (although not really our style) with nice classic wooden furniture and beds. It had microwave, coffee, fridge and good free WiFi in-room. Our room was just at the upper edge of the park. The window lookout was a couple of trees. We even had a visit from a squirell on our balcony. The outdoor swimming pool is a good place to 'cool-off' after a multi-hour drive on a road-trip. Attached to the Inn is a good restaurant where we had a good dinner.

« Nice Facility, Nice View »

We enjoyed the nice resort-like layout of the facility and our room had a ground level entry but on the hiss had an upstairs balcony overlooking well kept grounds. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed. Instead of an included breakfast, we received a 25% discount at the adjacent on-grounds restaurant.

« One night stay was pleasant »

We stayed at this facility for one night, and found the accommodation comfortable, and pleasant. The front desk service was excellent and helped us out with a few of our questions regarding nearby restaurants. You can tell they took pride in their establishment. Enjoyable visit.

    « Very nice employees! »

The hotel is in need of renovations. The rooms are a bit dark and could use new soft goods. The area is just beautiful. The woman that checked us in was so very kind and friendly. When we went to the indoor pool in the evening, there weren't any towels, we called the front desk and they brought towels within minutes.

« Pet Friendly Near Yosemite »

We needed a pet friendly hotel near the south entrance to Yosemite and the Best Western Gateway Inn popped up during our on line search. While a bit dated, after a full day of exploring Yosemite this hotel was just the thing. The hotel has a great location with relation to the south entrance to Yosemite and is clean and comfortable. While it was a pain carrying our luggage to the second floor, we were very satisfied with this hotel and would recommend it to others traveling with a dog.

    « Tired.... »

Recently stayed here as it was freezing in San Francisco so left the city a little ahead of our schedule to find some sun and spend more time in Yosemite. So key things are the hotel is 14 miles from the south entrance to the park, and around 1 and a half hours from Yosemite Valley. We knew this so this did not impact our view of the hotel. Hotel itself is built on a slop and a number of the buildings go back from the main road, we happened to be in the last one at the top of the property 1406 I think. We paid for a 3 bed queen suite, not sure why they call it a suite as it just has 3 beds, one is in like a separate room that you can close the door on for some privacy. But no separate seating area inside. There is a balcony over looking the gardens and a dirty children play area and bbq area. Our room was very dark, even during the day you needed the lights on. The rooms are so out of date, the cupboards on the wall were broken and damaged. All dark colours just adding to the general dark feel. I paid around 250 pounds per night to stay here which is frankly ludicrous, this is at best a 2 star motel. We had booked and stayed at a nearby house after we left this hotel, this was cheaper and massively nicer so my advice would be to do the same. The restaurant on site is just horrible, we are a family of 5 with 3 young kids and ordered chicken based meals for our dinners, all turned up cold which I sent back to the kitchen to try again. This restaurant is straight out of Ramsey's hotel nightmares, the put a flower on each dish, you can see the food is no where close to fresh just straight out of the freezer and reheated. Just horrible. We were on a breakfast included rate, which from the reaction of the staff is not normal as I had to explain a few times to the staff about the coupons and they did cover both the adults and the children. After a few discussions they relented and allowed us to eat, you basically get one meal each and a drink which is fair enough ordered from the normal menu. In all fairness the breakfast is a lot better than dinner, its not hard to beat it but it was ok. Omelette is ok, and the coffee is drinkable. Few other things to mention, the outdoor pool is tiny, you do get wifi and you can park close to your room, thats a positive. Oakhurst itself is ok, it has a few Starbucks, a decent supermarket called Raley's I think but struggles for decent restaurants. We certainly didn't find one, we were so happy to get to a place with a kitchen where we could make our own food. This place needs a total refit, and a new approach to there evening meal service. My advice would be to look at booking a local house, you pay less and get a lot more for your money.

Great stay. Hotel located within a town that had conveniently close access to a grocery store, gas stations, Starbucks, etc. but still pretty views. The hotel's restaurant had good food, somewhat pricey though.

« Pleasant Mountain Hotel, Nice Pools, Quiet »

We stayed here for 2 nights to visit Yosemite with our kids, and to say this is close to Yosemite Valley is a stretch - it's easily an hour to the Valley, and 2 or 3 anywhere else in the park. But the hotel grounds are beautiful, set on the mountainside and kept up nicely. We tried to go in the indoor pool the first night we were there, but there was a large family set up with drinks and a stereo in the hot tub, taking over the pool with a football game, and generally making most of the other guests in there uncomfortable. We tried the outdoor pool instead, and it was empty, warm enough, and right outside our room. The only things this hotel could really use considering the price and expansive property are a breakfast room (didn't' want to sit down for a full meal at the restaurant), and an outdoor hot tub with the pool there. There were signs to the outdoor "pool and spa", but there was no spa to be seen. All in all, a nice stay and we would consider staying there again for a Yosemite stop.

« Awesome Room, Amenities and Staff »

Stayed here on our way back from our girls backpacking trip in Yosemite. We were tired, sore and hungry and "Jessica" at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay affordable, comfortable and even more than we could've expected. They have indoor and outdoor pools and spas, in room coffee maker and you get a discount at the restaurant next door. We were so grateful for the cool, spacious room and comfy beds! Thank you again, Jessica! Really a great end to our 4 day backpacking trip!

    « Yosemite motel (nearby) »

It was about 1.3 hours from the main sites in Yosemite. Rooms were reasonably priced but old. Close gas and food. I would try to stay in Yosemite if I was there again, just so I would not have to make the crazy drive into the park each day. The drive in is less than 30 miles but takes over an hour due to mph and turns.

    3
    « Now getting a little tired »

This was either our third or four stay at this hotel, and sadly it is now beginning to show its age. The rooms are very clean, but the air conditioning whilst effective is very loud. The biggest failure is in the toilets - they barely flushed, and didn't get any better even after I reported it to management. The other let down was the towels - whilst clean, they were harsh. The outside pool is a perfect way to relax after a days hiking and hot tub, whilst small, always hits the spot. Good location, just needs a bit of love and care. Top marks for the bar - outstanding whisky selection and incredibly knowledgable bar manager (Dean). Will definitely revisit the bar!

    « Fabulous »

Excellent hotel. Reception staff were very welcoming and helpful.. Rooms were great size and bed was comfy as well. Loved both the pools and the restaurant was lovely as well.. A great place to unwind after a busy day in the fabulous Yosemite Valley.

    « Lovely Best Western »

The hotel had beautiful landscaped grounds, an excellent location near the south gate of Yosemite national park, and a very cosy, homey, comfortable room, with a small fridge and a microwave. The staff was very friendly and helpful

    « Just average »

Average stay, nothing special about this place. If you are staying at the top of the hill you will need your car for moving around the hotel. Breakfast at the bottom of the hill at the restaurant was awful go somewhere else. The outdoor pool is so small and the indoor pool is nice, it has a jacuzzi too, and towels. They gave us a room at the top of the hill and down the stairs even though we travelled with 3 kids and lots of luggage, and no help getting to the room. Shower outdated room avarege size with a coffee maker and microwave. Next time for sure we will stay in Yosemite valley the difference in price worth it.

« Nice Place to Stay »

Very nice place and very interesting. It is a motel, but the various buildings are arranged on a hillside with trees and beautiful landscaping. It doesn't feel or look like a motel so much as a resort. The rooms are very large with two separate bedrooms, each with its own thermostat. The bathroom is a nice size, and there is an extra vanity (with sink) in the room, making getting everyone ready in the morning much easier. The rooms are very homey, with REAL furniture (not standard, laminate-topped hotel particle board stuff, but actual beds with headboards and night stands). Rooms also come with balconies. The only drawback is that breakfast is not included, which is somewhat surprising considering the prices this place charges. Other than that, we were completely happy with our stay.

« Really recommend this hotel »

On a road trip with family of 2+2 teenagers, used this as base for Yosemite national park. This hotel is great spacious rooms with good parking. Each room clean, free WiFi, fridge and all in all great facilities. We ate at restaurant really good value with very friendly staff. Bar closes at 10, does takes 2 hours to drive to Yosemite village so be prepared. Really recommend this hotel

    « overnight stay »

Just stayed 1 night and found this BW to be average . While the grounds are woodsy and the hotel lobby very inviting with the big stone fireplace the room was dark and outdated. Time to repace the old popcorn ceiling with the gold flakes and spruce up the room. Bathroom large with a nice long vanity. Did not eat at the restaurant as there are lots of restaurants in the immediate area to choose from.

« Excellent Room, Very Comfortable Bed, Excelelnt Resturaunt »

Bed was very comfortable, very nice room. We ate breakfast at Restaurant and service and meal were excellent. Location to Yosemite was about 1 hour 20 minutes to Yosemite Valley. Hand painted painting in restaurant and each room that owners wife painted, very nice touch.

« Good location with basic amenities... »

We called ahead when exiting the park....we requested a ground floor room...the only one they had was handicapped...hubby has sticker so we took it. It was around the corner from the frontage road, quiet and spacious! They had both indoor and outdoor pools which hubby and granddaughter enjoyed while I used the laundry facilities. Was happy to have them available but they DO need some basic attention given and maybe some signage about the timing of the washers. The restraunt on site was a bit disappointing...we were seated promptly and after a bit of a wait (serious under staffing) we were offered drinks and given menus. I chose the chicken tenders with fries & house bbq sauce and the salad bar as my "side"...hubby chose the chicken thighs in Orange sauce and the salad bar as well. It was a VERY nice salad bar..lots of choices. When dinner came only ONE of the three was right! I was presented with 2 panko breaded chicken strips...NO fries OR bbq & hubs was two anemic chicken breast strips with sauce (not near enough). When we DID get our waiters attention about the fries & bbq sauce he argued that I had substuted my fries for salad bar and disappeared into the kitchen looking for the bbq sauce. By the time he returned with it the chicken was cold. We asked to speak to the manager who agreed they had a few difficulties in the kichen and WE should not have to pay for their mistakes!

    « Woodsy Personality Plus! »

Warm, inviting lodge has huge lobby with lots of seating around massive rock fireplace. Amenities of pool, fitness, bar/lounge/dining, laundry room & more. Very beautiful landscaped grounds with mature Sequoia and pines for woodsy setting complete with waterfall. Walkways, sitting and dining tables with BBQs invite guests to enjoy the outdoors.

« Hotel served its purpose »

That purpose being as a meeting place for several family members, including on In Oakhurst, to meet prior to excursions through the nearby countryside. We were also able to do our laundry here which is always helpful. Major dissatisfaction is that we had to pay for breakfast -- 25% discount because of a restaurant on the property.

    « Basic »

This hotel offers rooms all set out up a hillside. They have very dark decor and are in need of updating but serviceable if you don't expect too much. The gateway into Yosemite is about 10 miles away so this place is quite handy for visitors. We were put off the restaurant by the fact that the person who's was going to see us to our table was dressed in filthy clothing covered with food!! Also not very friendly

    5
    « Great hotel »

If you have a big family ask for the cabin. The hotel purchased the cabin next door a while back & you can rent it out. We have 6 people in our family & it works out perfect. Its 3 bedrooms & 2 baths. Has a full kitchen, dining room & living room. Small front & back yard too that'd secluded so you don't feel like you're staying at a hotel. We have stayed here twice. Its been a few years though.

    « Great stay »

We stayed here after leaving Sequoia/ Kings Canyon NP. We had to get a two room/ three bed suite since that's all that was available. The lady at the desk was super friendly and the rooms were clean. The only draw-back was there wasn't any parking by our room and we had to walk our luggage from another section of rooms. No big deal though since we were able to move our car closer first thing the next morning:) we would stay here again for sure!

« Best WesternPlus Yousemjite Gasteway Inn, Oakhurst ,Ca »

The room was very clean. Had the option of using both the indoor and outdoor pool. This Besrt Western does no provide breakfast, all thought there is a restaurant locaied next door. Their are plenty of other restaurants, with some within walking distance to the hotel.

« out of Yosemite hotel - campy but not cheap »

location was good if you wanted to be outside of Yosemite. It's pretty far though when you add the driving around the park. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive to May Lake to hike. Out dated hotel with outdated bathrooms, scratchy towels, no more than adequate beds and campy decor. Friendly and knowledgable staff and the bus to Yosemite picks you right up at the front door. Free breakfast would've been nice for a day of hiking. We did get a 25% discount on breakfast if you ate at the hotel.

    4
« A Comfortable Hotel not far from Yosemite »

The hotel is a collection of units spread up a hill. I was in the unit at the top which meant a pleasant woodland setting well away from the road. The downside was it was bit of a hike to get out to the main street for dinner. Not a bother on a pleasant mild evening. The room was comfortable and quiet meaning a good night sleep. Unusually for a Best Western there is no included breakfast.

    4
« Large rooms for long stays!!! »

Room and bathroom were large with a balcony. We only spent one day in Yosemite NP. Saw everything we wanted to see. Had two enjoyable days at BW Yosemite Gateway. BFF and I did not feel cramped. Very relaxing time in a nice clean room.

    « It's more about the location »

We used this motel as our base of operations for visiting Yosemite. Check-in was easy. The room was clean if a bit dated. We didn't use the pool or the adjoining restaurant. Just slept there. We would do it again. It's best feature is proximity to the park.

« Gorgeous property & thanks to Kyle, an amazing room location perfect for what we were looking for! Thank you, Kyle! :) »

We were coming to visit Yosemite and this property is perfect for staying just outside of Yosemite and driving in. The property is well taken care of and beautiful. For breakfast each day we ate at their restaurant on site which was great! We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub after a day of hiking in Yosemite. The best thing about our stay was the location of our room and the superb service we received from their front desk attendant, Kyle! This was our first time calling the hotel and he greeted us with a smile you could hear through the phone. His customer service skills were excellent and he really made us excited to stay there. He listened to and answered all of our many questions while at the same time noting our request for some type of "view" if possible. We were also interested in a room away from lots of noise. After being greeted when we arrived by a not so friendly attendant we were nervous that we might not have as great of an experience as we anticipated. However, when we got to our room we were so excited to see that thanks to Kyle we had exactly what we wanted! Our room was all the way in the back. The view, gorgeous! We just loved it! The deck large and view is looking out into the woods. We thought we were staying right in Yosemite. The rest of our stay was wonderful and we just cannot thank Kyle enough. We can't wait to go back and enjoy another stay on this property and hope to thank him in person.

« Good location little dated »

After a day in Yosemite this was an ideal location, quick check in, complimentary coffee at reception. Bit of a trek to the room but parking directly ourside so really not a problem. Room very dated in need of modernisation, although clean enough. Indoor and outdoor pool available. Comfortable beds although lumpy pillows. Very noisy air conditioning. All in all pleasant albeit in need of modernisation, brighter colours would be more inviting!

  • 3
    « Rustic »

When we first walked into our rustic room we found WAY too many flies. We took action and managed to get all 15 of them. Housekeeping or the last occupant must have left the unscreened patio door open. We went down and told the front desk and they made a note of it. No other flies entered for our next two nights. The room itself is dated and needs a facelift and some intense dusting behind the headboards. The beds were really comfortable though and the bathroom had plenty of towels. Parking is tough. Not enough spots per room and some take some intense maneuvering to get into. All in all we'd probably stay here again.

    5
« Excellent rooms, staff and grounds »

This is just simply a great hotel. The grounds are beautiful. Not a disappointment after spending the day in the splendor of Yosemite. I took a picture of the grounds from our balcony. So green! The staff is wonderful from the front desk to the friendly housekeeping gals. The rooms have hand painted murals of Yosemite and the beds were heavenly! The rooms have everything you will need. And the indoor and outdoor pools are both really nice. We are returning for another stay next month. I hate to say anything negative about this excellent hotel but looks can be deceiving and we were extremely disappointed with the dinner we had here. Two of our three dinners including the Prime Rib were just not good. Next time we will eat elsewhere. However, the bar looked inviting so we will try that next time. Enjoy!!

    2
    « Old and Tired »

We chose this hotel to get a suite (we had three people) and because it was close to one of the entrances of Yosemite National Park. Walking into the room was a step back into the 70's. It seriously needed updating--carpet seams loose, outdated wallpaper, old furniture, beige bathroom fixtures. The furniture also needed to be moved for a good vacuuming underneath! There was only one TV even though it was really a two-room suite, with two beds in one room and one bed in a separate room. The TV was also old and the picture was slightly fuzzy. We killed a few bugs when we first checked in, but given that the door opens directly to the outside, I understand that is a possibility. However, we found a few ants on the counter of the in-room sink the first day. The second morning, there were lots more ants on a toothbrush and in a cup on the same counter. The only food we had in the room were a few pieces of fruit that we kept in the mimi-frig. No food was left on the counter. On check-out I told the desk clerk about the ants and her response was that housekeeping would be informed. Also, keep in mind that there are no elevators as far as I could tell. The outside entrances have stairs leading to the second floor. So if you can't or don't want to haul suitcases make sure you ask for ground floor. The lobby of this hotel is very nice and the grounds were lovely. There is a outdoor pool, a laundry facility, and a small workout room. Our guest room, however left a lot to be desired. I stayed at the Best Western in Novato, CA, on the same vacation and the difference was night and day. This is also a BW with no complimentary breakfast. Some new hotels were under construction when we were in Oakhurst, so maybe more competition in the Yosemite area will inspire this hotel to upgrade and update.

    « It's OK..... »

Did a little time traveling here. The hotel is well located for a reasonable priced stay around Yosemite. We were here for two nights. It's about a 30 minute drive to the south entrance of the park ( and another hour or so to the valley). The hotel is clean and well maintained, but the decor reminded me of motels in the 70's. The bathroom had pinkish fixtures, but was clean and well equipped with linens and toiletries. The beds were comfortable, but for some reason they used half size pillows which were a little hard to get used to. The carpets could use a change, the color difference from the trafficed to untrafficed areas being very noticeable. Apparently the "plus" refers to the restaurant, bar and wi-fi. We didn't use the bar and only had breakfast in the restaurant. The service was very good, the waitress very friendly and the quality of the food was very good. The wi-if in our room was so slow as to be too frustrating to use. Overall. If you're going to stay in Oakhurst this place is fine for a day or two.

« Great place to stay, great value »

Stayed here with our 2 children. Conveniently located near Yosemite National Park. The restaurant here is a plus and the food was very good. Plenty of parking and the free WiFi worked very well as I had no cell phone service anywhere in Oakhurst.

« Perfect base for Yosemite National Park »

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn for one night as a base for our trip to the Yosemite National Park. The location was perfect and the hotel suited our needs for this trip. Our checkin was great, where we received an overview of the surrounding area, tips for what to see and when and a map/tourist guide of the Yosemite National Park. The rooms are slightly outdated, the bed and pillows slightly uncomfortable and a very noisy air conditioner however this was not a surprise due to the rating of the hotel; I believe this hotel is a top hotel for this rating. The hotel was fully occupied when we stayed and you would not have known. We headed into the Park at 15:30 for a "quick" sightsee, this turned into watching the sunset over Glacier Point. The result of this was us not being prepared for dinner (there was a microwave and fridge in our room). With the usual tourist traffic heading back down to Oakhurst we were very concerned we had missed all of the dining options in town however were relieved to find that the hotels restaurant was serving food until 22:00 (we arrived back in town at 21:50)! The meal and beverages were good and our server was wonderful. All in all, I would highly recommend staying here as a base for your adventures in the Yosemite National Park.

« close to Yosemite with great amenities »

Although the rooms were a bit dated, this place had everything we needed for a relaxing couple of days while we explored Yosemite National Park. As previously stated, the room was a bit dated, but otherwise comfortable and clean, with free internet access, a microwave, and a refrigerator. This is a big property, and our room was in the back. It was quiet, and there is plenty of parking. There is both an indoor and outdoor pool and spa, and as the weather was sunny and warm during our visit, we used the outdoor spaces. The pool area is clean, well-maintained, well landscaped, and private. There is a full service restaurant on site, which is convenient, and there are a number of good restaurants we discovered in close proximity as well. The drive to Yosemite is easy from Oakhurst, and this was a convenient and reasonably priced option for our trip. The staff was pleasant and helpful also.

    5
    « Nice stay »

This was a very nice place to stay. Our room was the perfect size for our family. The rooms were very clean and the outside appearance was lovely. This location offers an outdoor pool (we did not use) and an indoor pool that our children used. Both areas were kept clean. The staff was friendly too. I would come back to stay here again!

    « Visiting Yosemite »

Amazing hotel, everything fabulous, room overlooked pool and the views were stunning from balcony. Was able to sit on the balcony late afternoon with a glass of wine and just breathe in the view. Reception staff very accommodating. Can only rate this first class and would recommend. There is also a laundry on site, huge bonus when traveling, plus indoor pool and spa pool. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and sad to leave.

« Nice Decor and Location »

My family and I stayed at the Best Western Plus in Oakhurst, California in June 2016. This hotel is on the main road through Oakhurst to Yosemite National Park. The park is about 30 minutes from the hotel, and Yosemite Valley is another hour from the park entrance. The hotel is beautifully decorated in a log cabin/lodge style, with a waterfall on the grounds. There are several buildings containing the rooms, that are not connected to the main lobby. The buildings are 2 floors with no elevators. There is an indoor and outdoor pool, that we did not have time to use, since we were at Yosemite during most of our stay. The included WiFi was good. Our room had 2 queen size beds, which were very comfortable. When we checked in, the very nice lady at the front desk helped us move our room to the building with the guest laundry, as we had a lot of laundry to do that evening. She also recommended bus tours to Yosemite so we would not have to drive and find a parking spot in that heavily visited, but beautiful park. Our only complaints are that there is no free breakfast. There is a restaurant on the premises, but it is very expensive. If you eat there, be sure to ask for the 10% discount for hotel guests and check the receipt that was taken off. We also had mosquitoes in our room, which I had to remove on several occasions. Other than that, we really enjoyed this establishment, and would recommend it when staying in the Yosemite/Oakhurst area.

« Too expensive for what it is »

They clearly take advantage of the location and relative lack of competition. The rooms are not up to Best Western PLUS quality standards, especially the bathrooms. The breakfast was good. You will have to lug your luggage to your room...there are no luggage carts.

    5
    « Will be back »

Had a fantastic time. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful location and layout. Stayed in a family room, everyone, including the dogs were very happy. Next time we come to Yosemite National Park we will stay here again and include a day or two to just enjoy the hotel.

    4
    « Enjoyed our stay »

Great place to stay just outside of Yosemite. We stayed two nights. Fridge and microwave large clean rooms. The pool both indoor and outdoor were great after a long day of hiking. The spa secluded and relaxing. A relaxing place to stay surrounded by the gardens on a hill. Also has a neat and tidy laundry to do your washing. Would stay there again.

    2
« Not worth the price »

Stayed one night, and room was ok, but not worth the price. No extra blanket, only two towels, bed wasn't comfortable...just not worth the cost. Definitely more expensive because of proximity to Yosemite. We didn't use the pool or eat in their restaurant (no free breakfast, but guests did get a discount). Not bad, just disappointing.

    4
    « Overnight stop »

Basic but great. Check in staff were very helpful. Rooms were slightly dated furniture wise but it wasn't an issue at all. Plenty of local places to eat. Didn't have a chance to view the pools but there is an indoor and outdoor pool.

    3
    « Basic but Comfortable »

We had a very short overnight stay here. It was basic, but the room was certainly big enough. Certainly could do with a renovation. We had a breakfast included at a surcharge in a restaurant onsite. Restaurant was quite old, yet plenty of food options. The property has apparently a spa but we did not see or try. Free parking on site for self parking.

    4
« Good location for Yosemite and other attractions »

This was our first hotel on a very long holiday visiting all the National Parks, so we were happy with the standard. The hotel grounds were pretty though there was no where to sit outside as the pool was closed. However it was very convenient to visit Yosemite and the old railway.

« Comfort after Yosemite tent cities »

Stayed after Yosemite stay, good sized rooms, clean, fridge, microwave, coffee maker, wifi TV. Good location, lots of parking. So nice to have a few comforts and Best Western delivered. No free breakfast but a discount at restaurant. Would stay again.

    5
« Charming at the Yosemite gateway »

This rather large hotel is spread into several building up a rather steep hill. It is a friendly and well equipped facility. The grounds are wooded and very natural. Room was large and adequately furnished albeit a bit dated. Oakhurse is a great place to stay before your Yosemite vacation.

    4
    « Nice but Expensive »

Five guys on a motorcycle adventure. Our needs are basic: clean, dark, quiet, and with safe parking for the bikes. At this place we opted for one room with 2 beds and one with three. That put us in the "family section," but it wasn't bad. They do not provide a breakfast but instead a 25% off coupon for the attached restaurant.

    « Yosemite Park Trip »

The Best Western PLUS in Oakhurst CA, a hotel located out side the park is beautiful and rustic with a unique setting in the side of a mountain. The rooms are situated on many levels with barbecues located for everybodies use for their private parties. All the rooms are pet friendly so having our doxie was no problem. The rooms are large and beds comfortable. We enjoyed our stay as well as the restaurant and lounge and would recommend it to everyone.

    5
« Great gateway to Yosemite »

The grounds of this property are magnificant! Plan enough time into your schedule to tour the grounds and to take advantage of the hotel amenities. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Unfortunately breakfast is not included in the nightly rate.

« Great place to stay outside of Yosemite »

Great location; good bus service to and from the hotel. rooms were reasonably comfortable and all amenities were fully functional. Lobby was decorated beautifully. This is a fantastic and economical place to stay if you're visiting Yosemite. The bus service (or if you have a car) makes it super easy to see all that Yosemite offers at a great price

    4
    « Hotel meets expectations »

While the hotel decor is dated, the staff are pleasant and professional and all expectations of a good stay were met. The hotel is about 14 miles from the south entrance to Yosemite which makes it fairly convenient.

The room was nice and had every thing we needed. It takes about 1 hour to drive to Yosemite national park from the hotel, which was fine. We drove by glacier point on your way to the valley. There are no breakfast included, but you get 25% on the restaurant. Do to the opening hours, we didn't try it. One thing I didn't like has the balcony, which was one large sharing balcony and not so private.

    « Dated & borderline dirty »

My husband and I stayed here twenty years ago while visiting Yosemite and thought it would be fun to return with our two teenage boys. They have not changed or updated a thing in twenty years. The property and rooms look very tired and unkempt. Our room was musty, smelly and somewhat dirty. My son's allergies were really bad in the room. The staff were indifferent, definitely not overly friendly. We honestly could not wait to check out. It is such a shame that they have let the place go because it has the potential to be a really nice place.

« Base Camp for Yosemite »

This was our base camp for our 5 day hiking vacation in Yosemite. It is still a bit of a drive to the park but it's priced much better then anything in the park! The room was clean, quiet, and the bed was comfortable. We had a nice deck outside our room and a deer would wander around in the evening which was a bonus! The outdoor pool and hot tub are great after a day on the trails. The staff was very friendly and we enjoyed our stay very much!

« Hidden gem, great service »

Unique, terraced property with both indoor and outdoor pool, restaurant, playground, and exercise room. Way more that we expected for a Best Western. The best was the excellent service -- they accommodated an early check in with crib in the room ready to go so that our tired toddler could take a nap! Very responsive service. Would definitely go back.

« Best Wester Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn Oakhurst, CA »

This Best Western is a great place to stay on the way to Yosemite. The restaurant on the property was excellent as well. Great night sleep, clean comfortable rooms. I recommend and give this hotel a thumbs up.

« Closer to Yosemite than Most! »

No Free Breakfast is always a disappointment, but you do get a 25% off coupon to the restaurant on-site if that suffices. The " Coffee Service" was just plain coffee and the same is available in your room. Not impressive. The gym doesn't open until 8am. The suite rooms are large with two bedrooms and come with a balcony. You get a fridge, microwave, and coffee pot but no stove or toaster. Once we realized we'd be having to pay for breakfast we went to the nearby Vons Grocery to grab food. With Yosemite Tunnel View a little more than an hour away on 41 we were surprised to see that this hotel was probably the closest we could get to the park without camping or lodging inside Yosemite itself. We checked in around midnight and our night-shift desk clerk was wonderful. He shared a map of the Hotel Site ( which encompasses many different buildings and cottages all up a hill) and pointed out amenities. He also shared a local map of all the restaurants, stores, etc. in Oakhurst which was very helpful and told us which way to go to get to Yosemite. The ladies at the front desk were also helpful and re-magnetized my hotel key i don't know how many times ( since I kept keeping it too close to my phone and wouldn't be able to get into my room). All in all it was adequate for what we needed. Which was a hotel with suite rooms close to Yosemite that didn't cost too much. Our Best Western member number got us Free Wi-Fi, but this isn't free for non-members. Knowing now that the " Plus" in Best Western Plus means "no breakfast" we'll do better making sure to choose the regular Best Western in the future.

    « What a Disappointment! »

This hotel is old, dirty, uncaring, smelly, and nothing like it appears from the pictures online. Staff are not responsive unless asked more than once in a forceful tone--shouldn't have to speak that way to hotel staff. We will not stay here again and had the same type of experience at a Best Western in Buellton, CA. No more stays at a Best Western for sure!

    « Best western plus »

Excellent rooms a shame about the horrible breakfast. Room clean and bathroom clean. Breakfast was a continental one hot food was awful and cold! Would stay there but avoid the breakfast. It was a bit noisy as it was on a junction tried to stay in a hotel nearby but it was full. Lovely little town but not many amenities

« Perfect Gateway to Yosemite »

This hotel did not disappoint. It had a great family room that had two separate bedrooms, perfect for four guests. It had a lot of foliage on the property which made it lush and relaxing. I loved the indoor pool with a waterfall in the room. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I loved this place and look forward to coming back the next time I we visit Yosemite.

    « Beautiful surroundings »

I love staying here. It is beautiful, quiet and serene. Rooms are always clean and well decorated. Landscape is fantastic. Staff is always polite, helpful and well groomed/ Attire is clean and neat. The rooms are fantastic and clean. I have never had a problem or complaint at Gate Way Best Western.

« Great place to stay »

This is a very clean and comfortable hotel to stay at. The pool and hot tub are nice too. Very close to many Food stores, gas stations and restaurants. Front desk staff are very helpful and are very nice! Housekeepers do a great job with keeping the rooms clean. Grounds of the hotel are kept up very well. If you are going to Yosemite from here it will take you about an hour to reach Yosemite village on a very curvy road.

    2
« Good location, dingy and overpriced hotel »

Don't be fooled by the lobby pictures of this property. The rooms (not pictured) are old, dark and depressing. Room rates are overpriced at $160 per night. The hotel staff are very nice. Very nice and popular cocktail lounge and dining room.

    « Decent Place »

Organising a hotel to visit Yosemite from the UK was a challenge. The price of hotels in the park was extraordinary but after a lot of research we came up with this one and overall were not disappointed. A word of caution 'gateway' to the park it may be but that still entails about a 30 minute drive to the entrance and then over one hour to Yosemite village. When you enter the park and see a sign saying no overtaking for 26 miles you know you are in for a slow journey. On the plus side it is extraordinary scenic, your passengers will appreciate it, but the driver will be so busy concentrating on the numerous bends in the road that they will see nothing much. The hotel is spread out over a large area in blocks. Although the views potentially could be spectacular, in truth most are marred by large trees growing in front of the balcony. There is a small indoor pool with hot tub available and an even smaller gym. The outdoor pool was not open when we were there (May). The restaurant serves wonderful food. Unfortunately the service is very poor and yiu will have to wait an inordinate length of time for the food to arrive. We tried this bot at breakfast and dinner times and found it to be the same no matter when we went. We heard many other diners voicing the same opinion. You have to wait until someone comes to seat you, and despite the restaurant being far from full, you are simply ignored until someone can be bothered to come and speak to you. By contrast the reception staff without exception were first class. Very helpful and knowledgeable. The price was good for what we got so overall we were happy with the experience. Another three hotels are being built very close to this one, so competition as far as the consumer is concerned can only be good. Don't just go here to visit Yosemite this is great hiking area, and a visit to Bass lake is also worthwhile.

    « Damp Yosemite experience »

This Hotel is a dark and brooding place. The low temperatures, rain and chill didn't help. We took a punt on a "run of the house" room and were pleasantly surprised with a twin queen room.( the cost was taken from our account 6 weeks before we arrived) But oh so dark inside, a huge picture of Yosemite valley had been painted on the wall behind the beds which were comfortable enough. The air extractor in the bathroom was very noisy as were guests in adjoining rooms. The reception area ,dining and bar were festooned with awful pictures , those of flowers looked just as dead as everything else. Food was average but steaks for dinner on our last night were even worse.just not good enough. Good service in Restaurant. The restaurant and bar were closing down at 9 pm , the barman seemed in a big hurry to get home. On arrival the receptionist was very matter of fact, no warm greetings, nice to see you etc. Just the key and directions to our room. On leaving ,just as bad, not interested in our stay at all. I would suggest BW management needs to get a grip on staff/guest relationships. This place could do so much better but overall disappointing and our next visit to Yosemite won't include this Hotel. A blip in our 25th Anniversary Californie road trip .

    « Two night stay »

Based on Tripadvisor reviews, I booked a room with two KING size beds at this hotel. Large clean room, very comfortable beds and pillows, large bathroom with nice hot showers, free wifi, coffee, mini fridge; things I look for while traveling. We decided to skip the restaurant for dinner (because of Tripadvisor reviews) and have breakfast there instead. Breakfast was Great!! Service was good and all around good experience at the restaurant. Check in and out was fast and efficient. Turned out to be one of our favorite hotels on our 900 mile trip in California.

« One of the better places to stay in Oakhurst »

My partner and I spent two nights at this accommodation as a base point to explore Yosemite. It is located about 30 mins from the main entrance into Yosemite. Our check in process was efficient and smooth with a map of the property provided. There was ample parking provided right outside our room with a gym, laundry and pool/spa all provided. Our room had two queen beds and the room was clean. There was a musky smell in the room but I think it was just more that the property is quite old. The decor was dated and old but everything still worked fine. The wifi connection was good, beds comfortable and the shower pressure good. Given the price we paid for the accommodation and the limited time we spent in the room, we were satisfied with the accommodation and would stay there again if in the area.

    « Pet friendly »

We travel with our German Shepherd and Yosemite Gateway is the place to stay. The grounds are beautiful and the staff are wonderful. Plenty of places to walk the dog on the grounds as long as you are a responsible dog owner and pick up.

    « Very happy customer »

I find this hotel provides an excellent product for the price. Staff is quite accommodating, rooms comfortable and clean, with plenty of available amenities. Also, the staff was quite knowledgeable about the local area. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone needing an affordable yet quite satisfactory hotel in a central point in the Yosemite Valley area.

    « Barman Kalon :) »

A bit dated, and the food not the best as others have pointed out but the location and setting were spot on and for those reasons alone I'd happily stay again. What really made me write this review was Kalon who was working the bar the night we stayed. No matter who he served, be it local or guest, he made us all feel very welcome and no request too was small, and all done with enthusiasm and genuine friendliness. Kalon is a real asset to the Gateway as well as Best Western. TIP HIM WELL PLEASE!

« Good departure point for Yosemite »

We stayed at the Best Western both before and after our trip to Yosemite National Park. The park entrance is less than 20 miles away. The hotel is well maintained, the staff was friendly and helpful and the room comfortable. They also offered a military discount. I would stay at this hotel again.

« Great hotel, great stay »

Beautiful hotel, friendly staf, great service, fantastic lobby, beautiful surroundings. 20 minutes from Yosemity entrabce south. 90 minutes from Yosemite village. Our children loved the indoorpool. Take a hike through the fields to the north-west of Oakhurst in the spring. You'll love it!

« Rustic hotel near South Entrance »

The hotel was a bit rustic and coming from Napa it was more noticeable. At first We could not decide if our room was smokey or musty. We decided on musty. The heating system helped. Amenities include a a laundry that we did use and a pool that we did not. There was free wifi. Our room was spacious and included a refrigerator. It could probably use updating and there was an accumulation of dirt and hair underneath the part of the door that was not exposed when opened, otherwise we felt the room was clean. We caught the Yarts bus to Yosemite Valley right in front of the hotel which worked out great for us. The staff was friendly and helpful. The grounds are spread out, so if you plan on parking and not moving your car ask for a room up front. We were less than impressed with the affiliated restaurant so I would recommend avoiding it and eating somewhere else in Oakhurst. We liked the Italian Restaurant, Diciccos, especially appreciated after a long day of hiking.

« Good hotel, poor food »

Excellent choice of hotel for visiting Yosemite National Park. Good rooms, with adjacent parking and great laundrette (1.25$ wash, 1.25$ for 60 minutes tumble dry). The restaurant is NOT good for a non-Americans and since most visitors are not local, the menus for breakfast and dinner are not attractive. The only buffet option is the salad "all you can eat", of assorted tinned fruit and veg under a lighted cabinet. Not recommended! The "continental breakfast" has a bowl of porridge, a bowl of sugar with some raisins on top, a small bowl of diced melon, unpleasant strawberry yoghurt, and 2 slices of soggily buttered toast. Not what Europeans would think of as a continental breakfast. The menu is unnecessarily complicated, service slow and over-familiar. Steaks have a high proportion of fat. Disappointing. Eat elsewhere if you can!

« Good Choice Close to Yosemite »

My boyfriend and I stayed at this Best Western many years ago and were pleasantly surprised to see the numerous improvements that have made to this property since that time. The hotel consists of about 6 two-storey buildings along the side of a hill. During our latest visit, we got a double queen on the upper floor of the building at the top of the hill. The room was spacious, quiet, and clean with a small kitchenette and balcony overlooking a dense growth of trees. The beds were comfortable although there were too many pillows which seems to be ubiquitous with all hotels now. The only negatives were the tap water had a funky taste and it took a little while for the water to heat up in the shower. The hotel has a restaurant on the premises. Our package included a 10% discount on the breakfast so we took advantage of that. The menu offered a good variety of food from oatmeal and yogurt to omelettes, waffles, pancakes, and Eggs Benedict. The food was hearty and our server was friendly with a good sense of humor. Oakhurst is very convenient to the south entrance of Yosemite and the Mariposa Grove of sequoias. However, be forewarned that the grove is undergoing restoration through Spring 2017 so that area has limited access for visitors. Otherwise, it is about 40-50 minutes to drive to the western entrance near the town of Mariposa.

« Good Choice for Visiting Yosemite »

This hotel is a good choice for your visit to Yosemite National Park. While it is about 14 miles from the South Gate entrance, it is in a developed town of Oakhurst which offers options for dinner and shopping. The quality of the hotel is very good and the cost is reasonable. The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable. The service was good as well. This is the 4th Best Western I stayed in on my trip to Oregon and California. My comments apply to the other BW hotels I stayed. BW has improved the quality of their properties and should be considered if your travel plans necessitate a hotel.

    « Oakhurst Best Western »

Based on my family size of 6, this hotel offered the best room setup. Rented a room that had 2 queen beds in main bedroom and another queen bed in the front room. Room size was good. Overall clean. But other areas do need upkeep such as grimy door edges. Hotel has a laundromat which was helpful after coming back from Yosemite National Park. Internet speed was good - no connection issues.

« "Best in Town" but... »

This hotel is rated by most people as best in town, but that's not saying a lot. There's nothing wrong with it -- typical Best Western Plus -- but there's nothing special about it. Room was a good size, with 2 queens; table and chairs; desk and chair; kitchenette with microwave, sink and fridge; bathroom with good space for toiletries. Bathroom lacked a fan, so it was always getting steamed up and contributing to heat/humidity in room. Decor was that dreary gold-brown-beige that so many hotels seem to be favoring. Nice balcony outside room with table and chairs. Indoor pool clean but too small to really swim.

    3
« we can be better »

Look like an old decoration that the time jump on them. The staff can be more collaborate and helpful when we ask about places to eat. The hotel restaurant didn't make you fill hungry. The location was great and the room is big enough for 2 adults an 2 young children.( 10 of 10) Laundry room in the hotel sometime make the different and it give the hotel more points.

« Comfortable accommodations for day trips to Yosemite »

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel which served us well as a place to rest and recover from our day trips into Yosemite and Fresno. The grounds are beautifully maintained. Our room was at the far end of the winding drive up the hill, and looked out into a wooded area, where we relaxed after our long days of driving, hiking, and sightseeing.

    « Disappointing »

The Best Western was a big disappointment. We are frequent travelers and are partial to Marriott and Hilton hotels. We gave the Best Western a chance and were very disappointed from the time we arrived. The gentleman checking us in was not very welcoming or friendly and not what I have come to appreciate from my travels. The rooms are quiet large and spacious but not well taken care of. There were spiderwebs hanging from the ceiling and the soap dish in the tub was torn from the wall. The hotel was half empty so I don't know why they could not have placed us in a room that had a soap dish attached. I understand that a soap dish is not a necessity but why place a guest in a room with a missing one if there are other options. Perhaps the worst surprise was the roach feces that was in the toilet paper holder. I will not consider staying in a Best Western again as I also had reservations for the Lake Tahoe Best Western a few nights later and had to cancel those after arriving because of an even worse facility. They refused to refund the first night of my reservation so I ended up paying for a night there as well as the Marriott which is where we ended up staying. Apparently neither cleanliness or good customer service is a priority of either of these Best Western hotels.

« Great location in Oakhurst »

We drove in late for an overnight stay to catch an early tour time. The lobby of the hotel is cozy and the front desk staff was friendly and efficient. I didn't love the fact that our room was on the second floor and there was no elevator, but thankfully we only had 2 bags for the 5 of us so it wasn't too much of a problem. If you don't like stairs, request the first floor. We stayed in a family room which was 2 bedrooms connected by a small kitchen-like area and bathroom. Yes, the decor is dated. The waterfall wall mural in one of the bedrooms definitely dates the room as did the tile in the bathroom, but considering the age the room did not show any wear and tear. It was extremely clean and comfortable. I liked the benches at the end of each bed that we used for luggage. Check out was a breeze and the hotel let us leave our car in the lot while we were on our tour. Overall a great experience.

Good hotel with indoor swimming pool laundry facilities and next door was a bar too. The room was quite dark with the colours. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and tidy. The reception were very helpful. The only downside is all the rooms are pet friendly rooms. Also had wifi in the rooms. Our room was down some stairs so was tricky with two large wheeled bags

    « good value »

Room was clean and quiet. It was last room available for handicapped. But they gave it to my daughter and I. We were suprised how reasonable it was since the info. we had gotten from a website stated a higher price. We had originally gone to Mariposa but the Best Western there didn't look too inviting. Either did anything else there so we traveled to Oakhurst. Glad we did.

« Base for exploring Yosemite »

We spent two nights in the Best Western Yosemite Gateway and it was quite good. We recently stayed in Best Besterns and were looking forward for this stay as always had good experience. The location is really good. Just off the main road in the middle of the town. There is free parking available. Check in was quick and easy, the lady was nice. Rooms are great in size, comfy bed, flat TV with cable and HBO, tea/coffee and a fridge. We were staying on the top of the hill, in the same building where the indoor pool and the jacuzzi are, came handy. Those are also nice to use. Wifi is free and reliable. There is a restaurant offering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast is not included in the price which was a bit of a disappointment especially this is a Best Western Plus. All the other BW s had breakfast included and were good. This place you have a 25% off voucher for the restaurant for breakfast and 10% off dinner. All in all a good stay, would recommend.

    « Yosemite Paradise »

A beautiful hotel with a great restaurant, especially for breakfast, that is made even better by the incredible staff working there. The rooms are large with a fitting decor and the views are awesome. The rooms buildings are built up on a hill behind the main building and allow for some pretty cool atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Yosemite Hotel »

Most amenities were ok, but the rooms a little dated. The internet wasn't great. The kids were in love with the pool, but the cleanliness of the bathrooms (for the indoor pool) and size of the pool towels left much to be desired.

« Great value, but the rooms don't smell great... »

Great value hotel near Yosemite - and Oakhurst was a surprisingly nice little town as well. Rooms are basic but do the job. Only issue is the pretty weird smell in our room, but I think that's due to the age of the place. You get used to it anyway.

    « Yosemite dat trip »

We really wanted to visit Yosemite and this hotel offered a reasonable room for a family. Decor needs an update but all is clean. Good check in and room servicing. Lovely grounds and amenities. Close to town but breakfast should be included for the price... Ends up expensive for a family. Reasonable hotel but loud people upstairs made for a late night.

    « Best value »

Whenever we visit Yosemite we stay the first night at the Yosemite Gateway Inn. After a long drive from San Diego it is refreshing to stay at this property. It is not the usual large boxy building but is built as several individual terraced structures on a hillside. The landscaping is made for the area with mature trees and plants.

« Cheap hotel in a quiet location far from Yosemite Park »

This is a budget property for a Best Western. The mattresses were very firm and our bathroom had a sewage smell. I did inform checkout and she seemed a bit unconcerned as if she had heard this before. It is a nice layout for a Best Western in a quiet location. If you are staying here to go to Yosemite Park, be warned, this is about an hour from Yosemite Valley!

« Nicest Best Western I've ever been too »

I've stayed her twice, in April 2015 and April 2016. This is by far the nicest Best Western I've ever been too. You get great value for the price. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. Our rooms had beautiful murals of Yosemite painted on the walls. There are wooden sculptures of bears and statue of Liberty in various places around the hotel. The hotel itself is large spanning many buildings. There are two pools, and indoor and outdoor, so the kids can swim any time of year. There's a pretty good restaurant on site that gives 25% discount for breakfast and 10% the rest of the day. Free wifi and parking too. Couldn't find anything to not like about this place.

    4
    « Great Family choice »

The beds were super comfy, the rooms were large and what a great indoor pool for the family. The location was easy to get to, and offered breakfast to start our day. We loved our stay, and being picked up right in front of the hotel for our guided Yosemite Tour was very convenient. What a great trip! We will be back!

« Great Place To Stay When Visiting The Park »

My family and I stayed at the property for three nights. When we first arrived the beautiful lobby and grounds made a great impressions. The grounds are beautifully landscaped with lots of trees, a waterfall, and even a playground for the kids. Our room was at the very top of the hill right above the indoor pool. The small suite had three rooms. Two bedrooms with 2 beds and one kitchen that led to a bath. Off the back room was a very nice balcony. The kitchen has a small sink, microwave, and minifridge which we used a lot during our stay. Here are the reasons why the I did not give it *****. ;) + The TV reception was not great. Lots of static on several channels. + Our largest complaint was the wifi reception. In our room we got 1 to 2 bars only and then we often got disconnects. :( + The electrical outlets where strange. They did not hold the plugs. ALL of the plugs in the place acted this way with all of our devices. You got 10% off dinner and 25% off breakfast if you ate at their adjoining restaurant. I will be reviewing that as well. ;) One weird thing happened. On our last day the house cleaning people said that they would not be cleaning our room because of staffing issues. They would provide sheets and towels but not cleaning. It was not a huge deal but it was strange. The staff was very friendly. We would stay here again. :)

« A couple of days near Yosemite »

Found this location on the internet and was as expected. We were in California and wanted a day near Yosemite so booked 2 nights there. The room was very nice and the staff were pleasant. The price for the location was very good and after our arrival (we had driven all day from San Diego) and check in drove to the park for a late evening view. I admit the distance to the park was short but had no idea the road was as winding and took a bit longer than expected (although on vacation and had time).

Nice staff, nice property, be sure to ask for the "New building" as the old has 1960's rooms that smell like old cigarette smoke, old décor with pink tub etc.... Beds are hard. It's in the small town area and close to everything.

    « Awful »

This place flattered to deceive it was a joke... The room was next to the hotelS rubbish bins the view off the balcony was looking at barbed wire and private property signs. « Good price, moderate quality »

I slept over this hotel before the day to travel Yosemite. And overall, the quality of services was good given the moderate priceline. The bed was comfy overall the room was clean. However, I would suggest the hotel to put more investment on pest-control(mosquitoes, flies).

    « Loved it! »

This hotel has everything you need in a place to stay: warm showers after a long hike, a place to eat on the property and large, clean, spacious rooms. It's about one hour from the national park, which is about the minimum distance you can be while not camping in Yosemite. Highly recommended!

You feel like you are on a vacation as soon as you walk the grounds. The staff are friendly and willing to assist in anyway possible. We enjoy staying at Best Western, particularly at Yosemite Gateway Inn, Oakhurst, CA. With the trees and waterfalls, birds and squirrels you don't need to venture far to feel like you are in the mountains.

« Wonderful place to stay and close to Yosemite »

Stayed at this hotel for 4 days while on a hunting trip with a bunch of fellow Vets. Top notch rooms and service. The breakfasts were fabulous. For those getting ready to visit Yosemite NP this is the ideal place. It is just a few miles from the Park entrance.

« one of the best in oakhurst »

Stayed here with some friends earlier. Enjoyed the experience so much that when we made the second trip last week, first hotel came to my mind is this. quite, clean and spacious rooms, indoor swimming pool....nice bar..overall great place to stay in oakhurst

    « Spring Break 2016 »

The motel experience was excellent. We used the indoor pool every night of our stay. Part of the fun was the large number of other children in the pool. Our room was bigger than expected and included a kitchenette. There were handy benches at the end of each of the King size beds. My only complaint is the side chairs (yay, 2) were next to a too tall dining table, and there was no table in the Kitchenette. We booked this motel because it was close to Yosemite, but that turned out to be misleading, since it was only measured to the gate. There was a harrowing drive on a winding, hairpin curve road for an hour and a half to Yosemite Valley.

    « Would stay again! »

Lovely grounds, nicely appointed rooms, inviting balconies. Indoor pool and spa felt great on a dreary day. Restaurant could use some updating to their limited menu. Overall, a great place to stay close to Yosemite.

    « Beautiful grounds! »

Would definitely stay here again. Perfect location to Yosemite and Bass Lake. Close to restaurants and grocery. Staff was very friendly and the grounds are nestled on the side of a hill beautifully landscaped. five star!

    « Meh »

Totally 70s retro, from the wall mural, the fake fireplace to the hanging bubble lamp. The place was clean, and the beds comfortable. Not planning on going back, but it was the nicest hotel/motel in the immediate area.

« A good example of a Best Western hotel »

We stayed here for one night whilst visiting Yosemite National Park. We were very tired after a long drive and so took advantage of the pool to relax. Pool is quite small but OK. Hotel has a pub/restaurant alongside where you get a 20% discount but can't comment on didn't use it. Rooms a bit tired but perfectly adequate. Quite a drive from Yosemite National Park though which surprised me, at least an hour's drive. Would recommend if you are looking to break your journey on the way there or back.

« Best place in Oakhurst »

My stay has been great. They have all the ammenities I want and need for my travels. By far the best place to stay in Oakhurst. The staff is friendly and it books up fast but they always have accommodated me and my needs.

« Great value, near Yosemite Nat'l park »

20 miles from Yosemite's south gate. A bit of a drive but for the price, great value. Hotel grounds are well taken care of. Hotel lobby and rooms very nice. Not many choices for eating but hotel staff helpful in pointing out what is available. We didn't try out the pool or exercise area so can't offer any comments about that.

    5
    « Great stay »

Wonderful place to stay with family. Great indoor pool and many places to visit in the area. Many historical sites and beautiful scenery to hike in. Also many places nearby to eat. Would recommend this hotel to those interested in visiting Yosemite.

    « Another great stay »

Stayed here 7 years ago when heading north and decided to stay again after we couldn't get a spot in Yosemite. Folks very nice, food good at onsite spot. Nice room. We will definitely stay here again if we ever head up that way.

    « Average »

Hotel is average...if it is just a quick overnight trip it's okay. Bathroom toilet was a little gross and carpet is not clean. There is a microwave and refrigerator available in the room. Views are great (mountain).

    « Disappointing stay! »

Front desk service leaves a lot to be desired. When we first arrived the crotchety front desk woman wearing a "Take my hand, not my life" pro-life button scowled at us as we came over to her for check in. As we walked out of the lobby my kids said they didn't want to come back because of the mean lady. The lobby is quaint. The bedrooms are outdated and the carpets dirty. The walls are somewhat thin and the fan in our bathroom was rattling. Needless to say, we won't be coming back. I think there are better options available.

« Good option when lodges in Yosemite are full »

it's a good 1 hour and 30 mins south of the Yosemite Valley. About 45 min to 1 hour from Tunnel view and it's 30 mins from entrace ( southern) of the Yosemite National Park. It's a bit misleading to say it's only an half and hour from the park because the park is just so large. The road to and from is a steep incline going into the park with LOTS of twists and turns of a windy mountain road. Location is near several restaurants and breakfast places ( as breakfast is not provided on the standard AAA or costco rate that i booked). Good Pizza place directly across the street. Close to good mexican restaurant ( El Cid)

    « Best Western Oakhurs »

Highly recommend place to stay for visiting Yosemite NP, Bass Lake or other places in the area. Oakhurst offers other activities plus many great places to eat. The motel is located on Hwy 41 in Oakhurst is easily accessible. The motel is pet friendly.

« Pleasant stay with a few caveats »

Before beginning my review, I will note that we booked as 2 adults and 2 children (7 and 5 years old), as well as a yellow labrador retriever. We stayed just upstairs from the indoor heated pool and hot tub. Our main priorities upon booking were that the hotel was of good value (with military discount), was decently close to Yosemite, allowed dogs and had an indoor heated pool; all of which this location boasted. They also had an on-site restaurant, which was a bonus. LOCATION: You're just over an hour from Yosemite's Visitor center. This had us far enough out that we didn't get hit by the snow and close enough to make it a fun day trip in and out, packed up with light snacks and lots of water for the drive/walking around. THEME/AMBIENCE: I thought the decor, theme of the resort was quaint, cute and comfortable. It was older in style but that didn't bother me. I felt comfortable and at home. ARRIVAL: We checked in within 5 minutes and drove over to our room, no issues. ROOM It was a great size, very spacious and pretty clean. There was a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker etc. The bathroom was also spacious and clean. There was a work desk - which was kind of in an awkward place, where people walk back and forth from the door/bathroom to the beds. When someone was sitting at the desk, it was difficult to get around them. The main reason that I gave this location a 3 out of 5 was due to the beds being smaller than the proposed "queen" that was listed on our reservation. I believe that they were actually full doubles. Also - the sheets were extremely itchy. All of us were uncomfortable and wound up sleeping on top of the top sheets, due to this. I also always check for bed bugs (from previous experiences at other resorts) so when I lifted the bottom sheet, I noticed a lot of hair from previous guests stuck to the mattress cover/liner. I'm not sure if they ever clean that but it was slightly disturbing. I didn't get any rest at this hotel, as I tossed and turned most of the night due to the uncomfortable sheets. Also - the television had terrible reception. It was difficult to watch anything because it kept cutting in and out and was pixelated the entire time - no matter the channel. RESTAURANT: We only ordered breakfast from the restaurant and they didn't have room service, we had to go and pickup. This was slightly inconvenient but not a huge deal. It was delicious but a tad expensive for the quantity. POOL/HOT TUB Heated indoor pool was clean and decently sized. Hot tub was dominated for the majority of the time by the same 8 (capacity) teenagers/college kids so we couldn't really use it until just before the pool closed, as they left, but it was enjoyable. STAFF Very hospitable and welcoming. No complaints there. CHECK-OUT We called the front desk, said we were checking out and left the keys in the room. Check-out was 11am which was very convenient. NOTES: If you're looking for something cheap, allows dogs and is near enough to Yosemite for a day's drive - this is a decent spot. As I said - my main caveats were the scratchy sheets, bad TV reception and lack of room service. Otherwise - it's an average to good hotel to stay!

« Yosemite Gateway Inn Offers Great Value, Kitsch »

Best Western PLUS Yosemite Gateway Inn is ideally located 14 miles from the gate of Yosemite, 8 miles from Bass Lake and situated in the center of the action in Oakhurst, CA. The efficient front desk staff, beautifully manicured grounds, and the kitschy (murals of scenes from Yosemite are all over the property and in the room), amply sized room were above average for most hotel chains, particularly at the price we paid. The beds were very comfortable and the lounge staff was very competent, professional and informative. Stay away from the restaurant, where the food is so-so and the service leaves something to be desired.

    4
« Experience for my stay »

I recently stayed at the hotel for my trip at Yosemite. Good place for value. Clean rooms, nice surroundings over the hill, nice staff.30 minutes for drive from Yosemite South entrance, making it a convenient location to plan out.

« Nice hotel for Yosemite travelers »

If you are on your way to Yosemite National Park, this is a good place to stop for the night. Clean and comfortable rooms and not expensive at all. Close to a couple of dining places that you can reach walking Indoor pool and gym included Be careful of the squirrels x-ing the road inside the hotel :-)

    5
    « Magnifico »

I would definitely come back here for another trip to Yosemite. The room, decor, tv, kitchen, and jacuzzi made it all worth the while. You can't beat the fresh air and beautiful environment. Not to mention how cost-efficient it was for a couple of students.

    5
« Best hotel for the price »

Simply put, best hotel for the price. Rooms were great; we had a nice balcony (note: the balcony is shared with adjacent rooms. I found this a bit odd) and more importantly, the interior looks great. Comfortable stay and they have an indoor pool and exercise area as well. Also, the lobby is gorgeous and staff were terrific.

    4
« Great place to stay »

Clean rooms, reasonably priced. The place is huge and well kept. The indoor pool was a hit with the kids. The onsite restaurant is nice but pretty expensive for a BW. Food was good though. Will definitely stay there again if in the area.

    3
    « Nice facilities! »

The lady that checked us in was not friendly at all!! She didn't welcomed us at all, when I requested info about the place (It was our first time there) she barely handed me just one tiny book (I booked 2 king bed rooms for the weekend) she made me feel uncomfortable like if we staying there for free. Also at the check out, was a different lady that she didn't bother to ask how was everything during our stay, she acted like just wanted to get rid of us. The doors inside the room need oil!! hair conditioner, soap & body lotion were poor (qty) just 1 tiny bottle for 4 people as well as the towels, also the towels in the inside pool were a joke, too tiny!! other than that we like the hotel. Our neighbors upstairs brought hyperactive kids that were running back and forth and made our stay uncomfortable. The cleanliness of the hotel is beyond our expectations (5+ stars) If we pick again this hotel, I'd like to see a big improvement on these details.

    5
    « Great Value »

Trying to keep everything under a budget on this particular trip and we had low expectations at the price range we were going for on hotels. We were extremely surprised and happy to see the quality of the hotel at this price point! The Lobby was beautiful, the grounds were gorgeous and the pool was excellent! We will be using this hotel in the Oakhurst area again very soon!

    5
    « Great Place »

very nice place, extra large rooms. nice artwork on walls. Greatly Decorated. This is a older motel, but nicer than most new ones. Best Western is mostly better, but this is one of the best Best Westerns.

« Nice hotel, but noisy from my room »

VERY comfortable bed and room was very nice and clean, but my room had lots of noise (can hear people in upstairs room walking, sliding doors on either side was also very loud inside the room, but it may not be that way for another room). Staff was very helpful and very quick to fulfill requests. Hotel itself is beautiful and lobby is very classy. I was up early on all days I stayed there, however, if I had wanted to sleep in, it probably wouldn't have been possible due to the noise.

    5
« Beautiful setting in the mountains »

Very nice property. The owner, Deloris, does beautiful oil painting and guests are blessed to see them throughout the property. Mountain setting which gives the guests a very mountain fresh experience. T.he food at the restaurant was excellent.

    5
    « Charming Hotel »

A charming hotel set on a hillside. Several two story buildings, we were at the top which had a nice view from the balcony (even though obscured by trees). The path down to the lobby and restaurant from the top is very steep, so if you have mobility issues this is not the hotel for you. There are two conventional hotels next door with all rooms in one building. However if you have no trouble on the steep path this hotel has a lot more character than those others. The lobby is fun looking too. The restaurant does not have free breakfast or a breakfast buffet, but they do offer a discount for hotel guests on the breakfast menu.

    3
    « Restaurant is so-so »

I am local and always looking for a different restaurant in this small town with few good restaurants. The entree of St.Louis style was o.k., but a very sizeable portion. However, they should be embarrassed regarding the dessert we ordered. It was supposed to be a brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream. The brownie was still raw batter; it wasn't even baked. It was $7; outrageous for the quality of it.

    3
« Be prepared to walk »

Rooms are sprawled over a large area on a hill. We were in a group, but rooms were nowhere near each other. Directions were very unclear. We had trouble finding our way back to the rooms after dark. The room heater was pretty noisy. There were no blankets on the bed in the middle of winter -- we found them in the closet.

    5
« Great respite on way to Yosemite »

Beautifully landscaped grounds with private balcony in the woods. Heated indoor pool with charming Yosemite decor and bright windows. We drive a long way getting to Yosemite and appreciated this hotel's convenience for getting weather report, resting, and stocking up on groceries. Definitely will stay again. Price for accomodations (winter rate) makes this one of the best Best Westerns we've visitied.

    4
    « Yosemite Stopover »

I really like this hotel..almost like a lodge. Indoor swimming pool and spa are a great thing. Great for a couples stay or for family with kids....the pool is a nice amenity when it comes to entertaining kids

    4
« Felt Like I Was On An Episode Of The Brady Bunch - In A Good Way! »

This is a totally adequate, affordable place to stay about an hour from Yosemite Valley; much less expensive than staying inside the park itself. My Brady Bunch reference is because the moment I walked into the lobby, that's the first thing that popped into my head: Mike Brady could've designed this lobby. Like, it would've been really swanky in the early 1970s. The pseudo-lodge styling, uber-high ceiling, and not-quite-Michelangelo-quality mural paintings of Yosemite landmarks borders on cheesy. Yet I liked it, and it felt welcoming and cozy. In fact, I enjoyed the feeling of nostalgia, and kept expecting to see Bobby Brady running around with a tiki idol. While the stay here was clean, friendly, affordable and convenient, the restaurant adjacent to the hotel at which you receive a 15% or 25% (I forget) discount for breakfast was pretty bad. The staff was disorganized and kept telling everyone "They're just slammed in the kitchen! They can't even keep up with making the toast!" and other details guests shouldn't hear. They were nice to us, but I heard them say pretty inappropriate things to another family that had been waiting a long time; "You're just going to have to wait! They're slammed in the kitchen!" And the food was totally sub-par, even for a greasy spoon-style breakfast restaurant. So, I'd recommend not taking them up on the discount and stop somewhere else in Oakhurst for breakfast. Not sure what Mr. Brady would do.

    5
    « Wow, what a find »

The hotel is so pretty and comfortable. The grounds are wonderful and the indoor pool a plus. The back part of the hotel is where we stayed and it was quiet and peaceful. I recommend it to anyone wanting to get away from it all. It is truly a find.

    5
    « Beautiful surroundings »

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Lobby and outdoors is beautiful. You would feel as though you were in the beautiful mountains even if you were not. Cedar and pine trees surround the grounds, benches for sitting and just taking in the scenery placed throughout the property. Rooms are very nice and price is just right. I will be returning soon.

« best hotel in oakhurst »

it is always clean, the price is good and the pool and picnic areas are always a highlight of our stay, especially for the kids. The rooms are nice and big and especially love the new suites. We come here every year to then visit Yosemite Valley which is another hour+ into the park

    3
« Okay for the price »

I have stayed at this hotel before and for the price it is good. They discontinued the free breakfast, and now give you 25% off breakfast and 10% off dinner. The rooms are okay, and for the most part, fairly clean. They could use some deep cleaning along the refrigerators and furniture along the walls once in a while. The carpet was filthy when you first enter the room, and that is probably attributable to snow and boots tracking it in. Even so, there should be a mat to put shoes that have snow or dirt on them, so it isn't tracked in the room. I didn't feel good about walking barefoot at all. Staff was very nice, and we did have a room with a balcony, but again, the chairs could have been cleaned once in a while. If you don't want to spend big bucks and you aren't looking for something special, this hotel will work.

    5
    « Log Cabin Experience »

My kids and I went to Oakhurst to go play in the snow in Yosemite. We always try and stay at a Best Western Plus if possible. We loved the decor of this hotel. The lobby looked like a log cabin and the setting seemed like we were in the woods. It was quiet, clean and the pool was wonderful. Would recommend this to anyone going to Yosemite or Bass Lake

    3
    « Stay was okay. »

We had a late check in and they were easy to work with. The outside and lobby were styled like a lodge/cabin. The rooms were traditional with some interesting artwork of the mountains. The room was clean, but trash bags were not provided. There was not a hairdryer in the room. The hotels restaurant was mediocre. The food was good, but the staff was inattentive and under staffed.

    4
    « Hotel Very Nice-Resturant Not »

The Best Western is a lovely stay close to Yosemite. Nice rooms, pretty setting, pet friendly, great value! The restaurant, however was not. nice setting, clean, good staff, but the meal was below average.

    « Yosemite favorite »

Always a refreshing stay on these beautiful grounds. Our only wildlife sightings on this Yosemite trip were the deer who roam the hotel grounds. Didn't use the indoor pool or spa this time, but it's fun when it's cold out.

    4
    « Great Stay »

This hotel is in a great location for seeing Yosmite, and better still the local bus (YARTS) stops at the foyer of the hotel and takes you on a 2 hour trip into Yosemite National Park, drops you off in the park, then you catch the bus back to the hotel, all for $13 ( senior rate) per person. It was the best way to see Yosemite as the bus had to stop to put the snow chains on once we got into the park!!. The hotel was really good, our room had 2 queen beds, and a small kitchen area with a sink, fridge and microwave. There was an indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi, which were a definite bonus, plus there was washing machines and dryers so we could catch up with our laundry. We had a major issue with our credit card being cloned before we arrived at the hotel. The hotel allowed us to make a reservation without a credit card, and when we explained what had happened they gave the credit card company permission to have an emergency card delivered there. We can't thank Randy and Rhonda enough for their help, it certainly made a huge difference to us, knowing they understood and helped us out when we were in a difficult position. There is an onsite restaurant and bar, Dene is a great guy and serves great cocktails. Really enjoyed out 3 day stay.

    4
« Good place to stay »

Good place to stay, room was large and price was reasonable. rooms are surrounded by wooded areas, even saw a couple of dears roaming around the property. The attached restaurant, service was slow, but food was good and people were considered. At the time I was there the restaurant offered 25% off bill for Inn Guests.

    4
« Consistently the most comfortable place to stay in Oakhurst »

This hotel is by far the best value, and the cleanest and best service in the town of Oakhurst. It is an older hotel, but it has been kept up over the years. There are beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel and a really nice indoor pool. The only con is that everyone seems to know it is the most decent hotel, so it is very often booked. You have to get your reservations in EARLY!

    4
« Great location, lovely accommodations »

Love the area and the nature vibe of this place, saw a deer walking across the parking lot when we first arrived. Just beautiful landscaping....the hot tub and pool were great, both indoors and fun to use in the winter.

    « Fantastic »

When we showed up, we were very excited. Just from seeing the lobby and how friendly the staff at the desk was. When we got to our room, the smell of fresh paint was a bit overwhelming. So, we opened a window and went to dinner. When we got back, the smell didn't change. We went to the lobby and explained our situation. The girl at the desk immediately gave us a different room and we couldn't have been happier.

    5
    « A Very Convenient "Gateway " to Yosemite. »

We spent two separate nights in this hotel: one on our way into Yosemite and another on our way out. The first night we were upgraded to two queens. The room was spacious and had everything one would need in a studio apartment. There is a small refrigerator with freezer, microwave and coffee maker. There is also a nice size table and chairs. Although breakfast is not included, you can easily make it in the room. TThe office also has a large selection of toiletries, should you need anything. We stayed in a queen room on our return. Though smaller, it was also very comfortable. Each room also has beautiful murals of Yosemite painted on the walls.

    3
« Get some ear plugs »

Stayed in Oakhurst as its a lot cheaper than Yosemite itself. Rooms were tired, needed an upgrade from 1970s heating and locking mechanisms and they stunk. Also need better sound proofing given the adult yoga in the adjoining rooms (yes, both sides - and yes, I saw the couples the next day - and they were not super models !). Hot tub / pool is a long way from the rooms (so be prepared for a cold walk, and lots of kids). Expect the hot tub to be very popular, and the water to feel a tad greasy as a result. Restaurant at the hotel base was not bad. But don't let me be too harsh. You're not here for the hotel. You're prob here for the great outdoors - and that was awesome - hotel barely entered into our thoughts.

« Yosemite Gateway Inn Oakhurst »

Pleasantly surprised by the location of our room; up the hill in back and very quiet. Parking right in front of the room was so convenient. Breakfast wasn't included and we didn't eat at the attached restaurant, but the room price reflected this and the savings worked for us. We will definitely stay at this hotel again!

    4
« Great building, gardens, service average »

The building and surrounds are certainly impressive but the rooms are only average. Reception was a bit "dreary, boring: and not very informative. .Not at all welcoming. Rooms clean and well presented but strange small pillows made sleeping a problem. For the price, a bit disappointing. "Gateway" a bit misleading. A long drive to Yosemite village

    5
    « Mini vaction »

Last minute decision for a weekend getaway so the kids can go play in the snow. I've driven passed this hotel a few times but never actually stayed there. We got a 3 twin bed room. I didn't know that there were separate buildings. Must have been about 5-6 or more all hidden in the back going up the side of the hill, pretty secluded. Would stay there again.

    3
« Spacious but has some flaws »

Front desk need to be more friendly. Cleanliness can be reviewed. Very convenient location to yosemite. Did not meet Best western standard. During checkin person was not even smiling. Trash was not cleaned during checkin. heard flies during night. Room could be more fresh.

    4
« Cozy, convenient, affordable, interesting... »

At the beginning it can be a little creepy, however, the personal is very nice and helpful. The decoration is quite quirky, yet interesting. The location could be seen as far from everything; nevertheless, there is an easy access bus that takes you everywhere up in the mountain. I would definitely recommend visiting "Tenaya Lodge", that is a must.

    5
    « Great weekend »

My husband and I booked our room about a week in advance. They recommended the Discover Yosemite tour. (Which we loved, by the way) we checked in on Friday we were greeted by nice front desk staff. They gave us our keys and we were off. The room was spacious with a microwave and mini fridge. The beds were comfortable and the TV worked well. We had some noisy neighbors, but that wasn't the hotels fault. They came in on day 2 and replenished all of our towels, coffee, soaps and etc. They changed the sheets and remade the beds. I am very pleased with our visit.

    4
    « 1st Yosemite visit »

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was clean and was a lovely quiet location, took us about 20mins to get to Yosemite and it was well worth the drive. The scenery in Yosemite is like nothing I've ever seen before in my life! The downside to the hotel was that we went for breakfast on our last morning and even though it was empty we were told it would be about 30mins wait!!!! Better idea would be to save your time and money and go to McDonalds up the street. Would come back again though if we were able to get back to Yosemite for the location value alone.

    « Beautiful Hotel »

This place was a surprise to me the way it was situated in the trees and rooms all up the mountain. Pictures don't do it justice especially since it was recently and currently being upgraded. The rooms are top notch and all newly remodeled including carpets. The bathrooms are huge with lots of counter space. If you are given a room up on the mountain its so peaceful and every room has a balcony and its really nice to get away from the Hwy up here in the trees and still be right in town. The lobby area has a huge loft with a gift shop up there with lots of neat items and there is a restaraunt on site so no free breakfast here but other than that it was a very nice place.

    5
    « Great »

No complaints. Love this place and will always return. Great price, clean, and pet friendly. If you are traveling to Yosemite this is a must place to stay. You dont need to stay in Yosemite valley. This hotel has everything you need.

    « great hotel »

it is really a very good hotel to stay, the only downside is the restaurant which is not that great. there are restaurants and several stores to meet your needs just around the corner. very good gasoline prices in the area

    « Work and exercise »

Used phone for reservation as we wanted a room in a specific building. Lady on phone was very friendly & helpful. At check-in, the staff gave us a room adjacent to the indoor pool/spa which was great as it was raining. I had work to do so we used the spa in the evening and my wife used the pool & fitness rooms while I was working. Very convenient! Very well maintained grounds with a park-like setting. Will definitely stay here again!

    4
« nice rooms close to yosemite park »

the room was a good size, i very much enjoyed the painting on the wall above the bed. i liked how there was a place to walk around the hotels, lots of trees it felt like being in yosemite which was amazing...really clean rooms and the pool was great!! the hot tube wasnt that great, idk was make the bubbles on top of the water surface but it really bugged my skin, and it smelled like chemicals!!

« Good value near Yosemite »

This property is a bit far from the park entrance, but the value made it worth it. Conveniently located in Oakhurst close to amenities. Clean room, easy parking. Internet went out while we were there but it was resolved by the time we woke up the next day. Some kids from another room in the hotel were making prank calls and the front desk told us there was nothing they could do so we should unplug the phone.

    5
    « Beautiful views »

Every room has an outdoor patio with beautiful views. And if you're in the right spot a half dozen deer walk by a couple times a day. A large park area on the upper end of property has picnic tables and a BBQ for guest's use, and we found it the best spot to watch the deer crossing in mid afternoon each day.

    4
« Nice place to stay »

We needed a place to stay before heading into Yosemite and this place was perfect. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and in a convienant location. Checking in was a breeze and the staff was very nice. The hotel is rather large and can be a bit maze like, but it is not overwhelming.

    5
    « Fantastic Hotel »

We stayed at this hotel during new years for about two days. The front desk service is great, rooms are large, they have a great deal around wintertime, and they always have the heaters turned to max before you even walk in! (They also have HBO free of charge)

    3
    « Convenient affordable choice »

For the area it is a good convenient choice considering others. We have stayed at several others in and closer to Yosemite also. The others you are completely captured to their services only if you choose them. This place is an average place but with plenty of choices and conveniences nearby. The distance to the Yosemite gate is not far 12.5 miles or so.

A lovely hotel in Oakhurst which is conveniently located for the Yosemite National Park. Check in was efficient and rooms were spacious. The hotel is slightly dated but this is reflected in the price. Regardless, the rooms were clean and comfortable with a powerful hot shower in the bathroom. We were given half price vouchers for breakfast but ended up going to a local dinner which was brilliant. We had booked to stay for 2 nights but unfortunately the weather on the second day was awful and it was not possible to go into Yosemite. Visibility was also awful. The hotel very kindly allowed us to amend our booking to check out that day so we could head on to our next stop a day early - this gesture was really appreciated as we would have had to waste a day staying here when the weather was so bad. Overall a lovely hotel with helpful and accommodating staff. Great value for money and highly recommended.

« Great accommodations near Yosemite Nationa Park! »

An excellent hotel with large, clean rooms. The hotel also has a lovely excellent lobby along with great staff. Oakhurst is an unique town and is close to YNP. We had a room with two double beds, the room was very clean and had a lot of luggage space. This Best Western is an exceptional hotel near YNP. Would recommend to everyone.

    « A Life Saver »

We hadn't intended on staying in Oakhurst this evening. We had planned on driving home to southern CA later that afternoon but we were involved in a transit bus accident on our return from Yosemite Valley. We were supposed to return to Oakhurst at 5pm, instead we arrived at 10:30pm. The Best Western had a room for us. We were so grateful to have a comfortable place to relax after a very hair raising afternoon that could have been much worse. The room was clean and very comfortable. We were also given a 1/2 price coupon for a real breakfast in the morning. It was tasty!! Great coffee too. If we stay in Oakhurst again someday, it will be here!

« Perfect Accommodation for Yosemite! »

We were meant to stay here one night and ended up staying 3! Clean, large rooms, excellent staff and amazing value! Oakhurst is a great little town and so close to Yosemite. The staff organised a tour for us and the company were superb (tour guide was Joe and I think the company was Discover Yosemite) Highly recommend this place and will definitely be back.

    « GREAT VALUE »

Huge clean room, good beds ,lots of counter and luggage space, friendly staff and indoor & outdoor pools (we tried both). This place is an exceptional value for a reasonably prcied hotel near a national park. Would definitely stay again.

    « A beautiful trip to Yosemite »

Stayed at this hotel for 2 days before Thanksgiving. It is a beautiful hotel. The room was nice, clean and everyone there was very helpful and attentive. There are mural style paintings throughout the hotel that the apparently very talented owner has done. It is certanily conveniently located to the park as well as Bass Lake. We had breakfast there both mornings and it was great also. We particularly enjoyed being served by a young man named Galon. He was very chipper and friendly, a great asset to the restaurant. The bed was comfy and sleep was good.

« Great jumping off point for Yosemite! »

If you're looking for a clean and comfortable stay on your way into or out of Yosemite, or if you prefer to stay outside the park and drive in and out, this one's hard to beat. Great rooms, excellent on site restaurant offer a welcome retreat for the day's adventures.

« Great 1 night stopover on the way to Yosemite »

Can't think of 1 thing to complain about. The room we had was clean and comfortable. Heater worked great. The kids really enjoyed the indoor heated pool. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking was close to our room and plenty of it.

« Great Hotel, Great location »

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of a road trip around California. Although the Hotel is a good drive 30-60 minutes into the park it is Ideal. We arrived at the hotel early and the room was ready. The rooms were spotless, spacious and had everything we needed. Our Balcony was in the trees and some wide life was heard but not seen at night time. The hotel staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The restaurant next to the hotel didnt look like much as we walked in, but we had the best prime rib steak i have ever eaten and the breakfast was also pretty good. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and very knowledgeable about the area and park. Oakhurst has a few fast food outlets and a couple of shops but on the whole is a quiet little place. At night time its the perfect place just to sit outside and look at the stars. We went into Yosemite park for one full day and walked up Vernal Falls, which is a must see. It is one of the easier paths but does get difficult in places. There are no toilets or huts en route so be prepared and take water and snacks with you from the valley floor. Its $20 to get into the park so if you were planning on going for a few days it may be beneficial to see about staying in the park, but i believe it gets booked up quickly. We also used the free shuttle around yosemite valley floor to as a quick way to explore the area. Overall i would definitely visit this area again and stay at this hotel.

Very pleased with over all appearance, location, room layout, comfy beds and best of all our small dog Cassie was able to join us with no extra charge. Plus great breakfasts next door with 25% discount.

« Room was spotless and ready on time with all the amenities in place and working »

The Registration Staff was most welcoming...Housekeeping, too. Yosemite Gateway Inn is one of the best of the Best Western chain. I am a handicapped person and my room was, as requested, on the ground floor and close to special plate parking.

« very good quality nights lodging. »

We have stayed at this hotel several times in the past, the rooms are large and nicely furnish. It has a large indoor pool area we enjoyed when we were a little younger. The painting in the rooms and public area are very interesting and reflect are area. Food service can be excellent. The wooded setting adds a lot to the experience. Our last experience showed it needed a little care, but not a large issue.

« Great Place to Explore Yosemite NP »

This hotel is greatly located at about an hour from the Yosemite Valley itself and 20 minutes from the park south entrance. A nice surprise, the exterior follow a resort concept as you drive or walk your way up the hill to the many buildings of the property, so you don't feel at all in a side road motel. The room was clean and functional but the "kitsch" decoration is in due need of a much more modern interior design. Also, the restaurant on the property could offer a more appealing menu which turn out to be a disappointment for my group of friends. Overall, our experience was positive, we were there to experience Yosemite NP and this hotel gave us that opportunity at a decent quality/price value!

« Good location, moderate price »

I stayed at this hotel in the early 2000's for a Christmas visit to Yosemite, then stayed again this fall. Though it is a bit of a drive to Yosemite Village - hotels in the park are much more expensive - so to me it's worth the extra driving time. The hotel is clean and well-located. Rooms have fridges and microwaves which I appreciate for a longer stay. The room is clean and the WiFi works pretty well. I think in the room we had this time I don't remember a chair - that is nice to have so that would be an improvement.

« Good value for money, clean and good location »

Great hotel in a good location for exploring Yosemite National Park. We found the properties inside the park were very expensive. This was a reasonably priced property that ticked all the boxes. The highlight was our waiter in the restaurant - make sure you ask for Kalon if eating there - you will not be disappointed. Such a gorgeous and entertaining person! Property had a laundry which was handy for us as we had been travelling for 10 days and needed to do washing. Rooms were very comfortable and clean. Woke up to deer outside our room which our son loved. About a 20-30 min drive to the centre of the national park.

« Good base for Yosemite »

We stayed at the Best Western Plus, Yosemite Gateway as part of a road trip around California. We used the hotel as a base to explore the Yosemite National Park. The hotel is in a handy location in Oakhurst. Staff on reception were fine, reception has interesting decor! Outside, the buildings look nice and fitting for the area and inviting. Our room was up a hill tucked up out of the way which was nice and quiet, they are spread out over a large site. We had a nice balcony and a large room with amenities including a small kitchenette. Like the reception the decor is... let's say... unique and quite dated but they were fine and comfortable. It took us about an hour & a half to drive to the National Park and we went there twice. There's a fee to enter the park and you only have to pay this once. I'd strongly recommend avoiding the restaurant onsite, we'll write a separate review on this! There's a great bar called the Dirty Donkey over the road and a fantastic Italian called Di Ciccos a 10min walk away. We ate breakfast at Katie's Kountry Kitchen which is pretty much next door. Keep an eye out as you walk through the hotel grounds we saw 2 beautiful deers grazing on a lawn!

    « Want A Quiet Get-Away? »

I've staying in Oakhurst before and didn't expect much when I made this reservation for 2 nights... WHAT A SURPRISE!! This place is beautiful, quiet and the grounds are very well kept. We stayed in room 331 at the top of the hill (all the units are in clusters, not one big hotel, which is really nice). The room was large, had a small fridge, microwave, and sink. The view out the small balcony of the forest was exceptional. The desk staff and even the housekeepers were nice and friendly. Whenever I stay in Oakhurst again, this will be the place!

    4
« Spectacular view, a great base to enjoy Sequoia and Yosemite »

We didn't expect the property to be so beautiful. The front desk personnel extended genuine welcomes and the rooms were great. The only item keeping this from a five star is I could hear tv from another room all night. I overcame the annoyance and focused on the positive in our comfy bed. Morningtime I peered out the glass doors and found a half dozen deer grazing right outside our private sitting area, their warm breath making clouds in the air. Fat squirrels raced around. The coffee in the room and at the adjacent restaurant was not good, bring your own to brew in the room. But the omelet was fabulous, my traveling partners enjoyed their selections as well. Best Western, you have gold in the mountains.

« Good location and bar »

Stayed for two nights in October. We had a room at the top end of the hotel 224 I think. Room clean and comfortable. Open plan balcony to rear, meant you had had to keep curtains closed for any privacy. The reception staff were very good. Visited the restaurant twice for breakfast, as you get 25% off, if staying there. The food was very good along with the service, with views out to the hills. We visited the bar area in the evening, which had a lovely a welcoming fire. Good beer and wine selection, served by helpful and friendly barman. Would stay again, for the location and maybe try to get a better room.

    5
    « Beautiful property »

We were stunned at how beautiful this hotel property is. We stayed in a room way up at the top of the hill and the grounds are kept wonderfully throughout. The lobby looks like a mountain lodge. The decor in the rooms was nice, although it didn't have the same mountain lodge feel. The bed could have been a little more comfortable, but the pillows were nice and fluffy. After we checked into our room, we went out for food and when we came back, our room key suddenly didn't work. We had to get back in the car and drive down the hill to the front desk to have them reprogram it. Not a huge deal but we were so tired and just wanted to crash. We accidentally left some dirty hiking clothes and shoes in a laundry bag after we checked out. The next day when we realized our mistake, we called the front desk and they immediately shipped our stuff to us priority mail, which we really appreciated. We didn't use the 25% discount for breakfast based on lackluster reviews of the restaurant.

    « Good Best Western »

We are in room 309. We asked for a quiet room and this is back from the highway and fairly quiet. If you want view, they have a few of those too. Check in and out is average. Parking is good. Ice machine is accessible from outside. No hallways, doors are from landing. We have 2 queens. Bath have plenty of counter space and towels. Micro, TV, frig, wifi, and a modest "shared balcony"...each open to the next. Area large enough to eat a meal for the two of us.

    5
    « Good for a family »

There are not many hotels that have one room that will sleep my family. For eight people we would normally have to get two rooms, but we were able to sleep all eight of us in just one room (with 2 roll-away beds). We also liked the fact that it had an indoor pool and and outdoor pool. My family always enjoys swimming after a long day in the car.

    5
    « Exceeded Expectations »

The two bedroom family suites were great. Very clean and nicely decorated. The winding hillside and lush plantings were very nice. The indoor pool was easily accessible and very clean. The onsite restaurant was very good and reasonably priced. It was a great place to bring family

    3
    « Great Location »

This Best Western is in a great location for visiting Yosemite.. and great if you have children and need to stay somewhere close to a large grocery store and easy meals. (And Starbucks!) The property itself is dated and somewhat odd. The room was basically clean and very spacious. Strangely none of the garbage cans had liner in them so we felt uncomfortable throwing trash away. The wifi was fast. The amenities were mismatched. The towels were like shop towels that you would find in your dad's garage. The value- we think it was pretty good! AAA rate was awesome.

    « Great little place »

Stayed in the are for a family wedding, and this was a very nice & comfortable. Stayed in a suite-type room with 3 beds in two rooms, and it was very spacious. Balcony had a great view of grassy park-like area between buildings, I even got to see a deer while sitting out there drinking my morning coffee. Staff was very nice and friendly, and especially helpful when our keycards were troublesome (not sure if I had a magnetized purse or something), but they were SO nice about repeatedly recoding it on the same night. I would definitely stay here again if I'm in the area.

    5
« Best place to stay outside of Yosemite »

This was our second stay at this location. Even better this time. The beds are very comfortable. The grounds are beautiful. Now the YARTS bus conveniently stops at the lobby. (definitely recommend YARTS - leave the driving to them!). We also spent a night in Mariposa, another town outside of Yosemite. Best Western n Oakhurst is a better choice. The 2 room suites are great with a door that shuts between bedrooms. Each room has a balcony that actually has room to walk around, not just 2 chairs that you have to squeeze by. After 2 good stays at this hotel, it is now our "go to" spot when visiting Yosemite. As an added note, there are 2 big grocery stores in Oakhurst - Vons and Raleys. Both are convenient to the hotel.

    3
    « Near Yosemite »

We were passing thru and looked on TripAdvisor for near by places. We usually stay at Best Westerns and noticed this got good reviews and looked nice. Our room was nothing like the photos. It was dark, dingy and outdated. The beds were comfortable for how old everything looked. Next time I'd pass on staying here. The benefit is that it's pretty close to Glacier point for sunset pics of half dome.

    4
    « Great stay »

This motel was a great find. The staff, from the front desk to the housekeepers were great. The room was comfortable and quiet. This small town was the perfect spot to stay. Loved it. I would absolutely stay here again if we return to the area.

    « Quiet Comfortable Reasonable »

Had a very pleasant 3 day stay here. The grounds are spread on a hillside so either plan on climbing stairways or use your vehicle for the short drives up and down hill. Enjoyed the breakfast variety... flavorful and plenty. Service very good and quick. Don't overlook the full bar adjacent to the restaurant. It's a great happy hour or evening place to relax!

    « Sweet Suite »

This hotel is located right outside Yosemite National Park to the south. Unfortunately, it is a long drive into the park...16 miles to the gate and another 16-18 miles to Yosemkte Valley. It is a beautiful drive but very stressful as the whole trio is switchbacks. Regarding the hotel, there were only two of us but our room slept 6! Upon entering we encountered a typical hotel room with 2 queen beds and a beautiful mural of Yosemite Park painted on the wall. Connected to that room was another room with a queen bed, a table, 2 chairs, TV and a couch. That wrapped around to the kitchen which was connected to the bathroom. Every room was spacious, clean and had all the amenities you could want. There is a restaurant on the property which was very nice and very convenient. You get 10% off your bill if you are a hotel guest. There is not a complimentary breakfast but breakfast is also served at the same restaurant and hotel guests get 25% off breakfast. We ate two dinners there and found them delicious as well as good service and a pleasant atmosphere.

    5
« Good place and good value »

The Gateway Inn, is a nice place for the value. Close proximity to many eateries, grocery stores and fueling stations. A restaurant is also on the grounds. You will have easy access to the highway and a quick 20 minute ride to Yosemite... Stay & Enjoy

    « Beautiful Place »

A very nice hotel with great amenities. Very nice front office staff and the restaurant personnel were the best. The inside pool and hot tub were fantastic, especially after a full day of hiking. The grounds were beautiful.

    « Great Hotel »

We really enjoyed this hotel. It's build like a ski resort and the room we had had a great view from our balcony - yes we had one to sit out on. The rooms were clean and spacious and the wifi worked well. The only thing is we had to sign in each morning. The grounds are nice and made you feel as if you were further out of town than you are in reality. We were able to walk to restaurants.

    1
« Not worth the price »

From the front desk to the restaurant we were extremely disappointed. Definitely not a resort or at least not what I would consider a resort. Checking in at the front desk was sad. Very unfriendly desk clerk. The room was ok but not resort style. The carpet made the bottom of my feet black. The room is cleaned daily but it is sprayed with some kind of air freshener that was overwhelming. Made us feel like they were trying to cover something up. Also do not think you can sleep in. Every morning the blue tubs for the cleaning crew to put the dirty towels and sheets in are placed outside each building. The noise is awful. We ate at the restaurant the first morning we were there. The staff was so unfriendly. It took forever to get waited on. Our food was cold once we received it. The only thing good I can say about this Best Western is the grounds around the motel are beautiful.

    4
    « Beautiful Setting »

This hotel was beautiful. Set close to Yosemite each room has a view of the nice grounds and each room has a small balcony with two chairs. We felt like we were in the country, but we were close to everything we needed in town. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. The rooms are large and well equipped with microwave and small frig. They have a inside pool and exercise room but we didn't even take a look at them, but from the looks of the rest of the hotel I'm sure there were nice.

    « Gorgeous Property »

Stayed here a few years ago for 3 nights while attending a conference. I shop price, and BW was competitive, so I chose BW again this time. Rooms are quite nice...was very pleased with all staff I encountered while there.

« Well kept, comfortable, beautiful landscaping »

This is NOT your typical Oakhurst motel with rooms overlooking Highway 41 and lots of traffic noise. Instead, this Best Western has buildings winding up a landscaped hillside, with beautiful walkways, trees and landscaping throughout the property. Our room was quiet and well off the street, and I appreciated the landscaped areas to walk my dog. (Yes, the property is dog-friendly.) We also enjoyed breakfast at the adjoining restaurant and the 25 percent discount given to motel guests. We did not use the pools or spa, but they appeared to be nice and well maintained. The motel rooms, themselves, are a little dated, but they are clean, well maintained and very functional. I appreciated the in-room microwave and refrigerator.

    4
    « Great value »

Rooms are large and have all the amenities to make it comfortable. It's not fancy, but the bed is comfy, and the room is clean. Very convenient location to get to the park. Staff was friendly and helpful. Great value for the price.

« It was ok for the price »

The hotel starts with the front desk. The front of house staff really need to work on their customer service skills. The spa facilities were good. Restaurant next door which has dreadful service, not recommended. Our room was big and spacious but the walls are wafer thin. Listening to the film next door are watching at midnight was not on our agenda. Its a good hour an half drive to the Falls. Id probably choose to stay somewhere else next time. It wasnt an entirely bad experience but it wasnt great either

« Ok for the price... »

We were in Yosemite for a wedding at the Tenaya Lodge and didn't want to pay $300/ night to stay there. My wife had stayed at this hotel before and said that it was fine. That is how I would describe it too. There is nothing spectacular about this hotel. I found the front desk staff to moderately rude and there was a very large stain of some sort above the headboard of our bed, but the rooms were large and the price was right. Given the option I probably wouldn't return unless there was no vacancy at local boutique hotels.

    5
    « Gateway to Yosemite »

very beautiful and close to Yosemite. Staff is pleasant and professional, rooms are clean and beds very very comfortable. Check in/out is fast and professional. Yosemite entrance is only approx. 15 miles away.

    « Older Best Western »

When we got there and checked in the front desk staff was not friendly at all. Just acted like they were going through the motions with no interest. There are several buildings here and our room was in a building all the way in the back. The room was very old and very very dated. The bathroom was like out of another decade and had pheasants (field birds) on the tiles on the walls in the shower. The room had a balcony that looked out at trees and mountains in the distance. It was comfortable enough, just really old and had not been thoroughly cleaned. There were cheerios on the floor from some past guest and other things that had not been vacuumed up at the last cleaning. The second night we stayed we ordered pizza from a local pizza shop and my Husband picked it up. Early in the morning he got violently ill. He was in the bathroom about every 45 minutes. We were supposed to check out that day but my Husband was too sick to leave. I called the Front Desk and asked if we could stay another night and thank goodness we could. But they told us we had to be gone the next day because they were sold out for the weekend. Luckily the next day, my Husband was well enough to travel. If you don't mind staying in a very old and dated hotel, then this hotel is fine.

« Good hotel with lots of amenities »

Stayed here this past weekend to attend a wedding in the area. The hotel was large and had a nice lobby area with a fireplace. Our room was up at the top of the hill on the second floor. It had a balcony that was really nice, but it looked onto a storage facilities which was meh. The room was on the older side, but clean. The hotel has two pools and two saunas, one of each is indoor and one of each is outdoor. They looked smallish but nice. There is a restaurant on-site and if you are still checked in to the hotel, you get a 25% discount on breakfast. So make sure you have breakfast before you check out. Overall it was a good experience and if I'm in the area would stay here again.

« Doesn't appear to honor rewards program »

Have Best Western Platinum Membership level which should have given me best room available. It was quite obvious I did not get best room or even close to it. The overall location of room was poor and it appeared to be a lower end room. Felt like I was going into a bunker with extremely noisy people above us. Middle of the week and we could see property was not full so I'm sure much better rooms were available. What is the point of a customer loyalty program if the properties don't honor them? Will not be returning to this property.

    3
« Great Property, Terrible Staff »

This is a great property nicely laid out and beautiful landscaping. 2 pool options both indoor and outdoor. A nice fitness center. Big negative, no breakfast. You have to pay on average $10.00 a plate at their restaurant next door. No thanks! We stayed at other BW with a restaurant on the property and they gave a free breakfast voucher, not a 10% off coupon. Biggest negative is the attitude of the staff. When we tried to check in, we were completely ignored even thought there were 2 desk clerks and no one else checking in. They were engaged in a personal not business conversation (we could hear the subject matter) and made us wait several minutes until they were finished. Their attitude was as if we were bothering them. The same thing happened at check out. None of the staff seems happy. No one smiles or will even greet you. Better staff at the BW in Mariposa. If you prefer BW then stay in Mariposa. You will get breakfast, a better staff, and 30 minutes closer to Yosemite Valley.

« Excellent choice and great value »

We had 2 different rooms because we decided to stay an extra day and needed to change on day 2. The 2 queen room is very large with a balcony outside your back door (2 chairs and table on balcony). The room had 2 tables, fridge, microwave, good AC, large bathroom with plenty of counter space and above all, was very quiet. I would definitely choose the 2 queen room since it's only $10 more than a 1 queen and the room is bigger. The price charged provided excellent value. The outside surroundings are very nice; hills, plants, pool area and a waterfall. On a warm day, it feels like a resort. There are 2 pools, one inside and one outside (both very nice). The lobby is very nice with its cathedral ceiling and décor. There are 2 stories but no elevator. It's an expansive property. There are lots of restaurants and gas stations nearby. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Loved this place! »

We stayed at Best Western Plus Yosemite Gateway Inn the night before we ran the Inaugural Yosemite half marathon. We were so pleasantly surprised when we arrived! Beautiful setting with beautiful grounds. The property is nicely spread out on very hilly grounds. The lobby was beautiful and our check in was flawless. Our room was in the building overlooking the pool area, on the first floor. Which we were very thankful for after our race the next day! Sliding glass doors opened to a nice sitting area with the pool area right behind it. Even though there were people in the pool at various times, it was always very quiet. We were in bed to go to sleep by 7:30 that evening since we had to be up at 3:00 a.m. No problem. The room was very dark, and very quiet. Never heard a peep from the outside. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Not a new property, but kept up well. I felt the cost for the room was extremely reasonable, especially for the area. There is a restaurant on the grounds for convenience but we didn't try it. Would most definitely recommend this to others visiting the area!

« Interesting and worth the price. »

This is a large complex and we had a room that was very quiet, a bit dated, but clean. The bed was quite comfortable. Restaurant in hotel was not super busy, excellent service, prices were average with a 10% discount. Breakfast was 25% off, but we opted out. Funky gift shop with many pieces of art (assume by owner or relative).

    « Needs a caution »

My family and I attended a wedding in Yosemite over the weekend. Decided to sleep over at a nearby hotel. Honestly, this was the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Missing light bulbs, carpet so filthy it made your feet black to walk on it. The shower floor creaked so loudly I was afraid I'd fall through. ( I'm a 125lb.woman) the pool was green, the fan in the bathroom buzzed rather than spun...should I go on? Very overpriced at $150 per night. One good thing, the manager on duty was courteous and helpful.

When you see the lobby you think that the room is nice and clean like the lobby but NOT . the room is dirty. We stay for 3 night and they did not clean the carpet and the bath. i put a little piece of wood on the floor and I think it steel stay there . The room look old and could use an upgrade. The staff are helpfull and friendly. Oakhurst is OK you can find many restaurant and stores.

Pretty property although unkempt on this trip, Asked for a room with a view but it included chain-link fence with razor wire, but I had booked rather late for this area. Other rooms have nice views. Hot tub was out of service due to recent liner replacement but stuff happens. Room including bathroom lighting was really bad (dark). Beds were comfortable and included four awesome pillows per each queen size bed.

« Good stay for Yosemite »

Large comfortable room, clean and well equipped. Very helpful staff. All in all a very good stay. All our needs were met quickly and with charm. Would stay here again. Breakfast at Local Coffee down the road was a nice change and dinner at the South Gate Brewery was also good.

« Large and sprawling hotel on a steep hill, no elevators »

A large premise and many, many room spread over a steep hill location. The rooms are dated and a bit 'tired' but were clean and comfortable. They would benefit from elevators for the upper rooms, as the stairs are a lot to tackle with heavy / large cases. Breakfast not provided, unlike most other Best Western Plus hotels

« OK Yosemite Gateway Lodging »

Two-day stay at this lodge offered a nice, close place to stay while visiting Yosemite National Park. Just a short drive to the park entrance. Situated in town with easy access to groceries, restaurants and fuel. Room access walkway needs a good power washing to remove black dirt and mold. Room and bath clean but carpet in entry way filthy. Recommend wearing house shoes when walking oh the carpet. TV available but screwy channel search made it difficult to select desired station.

Just about to leave the hotel so thought I would say something. Many of the reviews give the impression that the hotel is drab and a little worn, and I guess the overall decor supports this. However, the rooms are a good size, with a fridge and separate freezer for ice etc. bed was comfortable and the shower certainly wakes you up in the morning. The staff are helpfull and friendly and the hotel is well positioned allowing you to walk to shops and restaurants. They even have wildlife as we saw a family of deer only yards from our patio area. This hotel has all the facilities you may require, and if there is one area for improvement it is the restaurant who,s dinner menu was uninspiring so we went elsewhere. So don't be put off by the age of the hotel, give it a go.

« Old fashioned but accomodating. »

A friend and I stayed here for 2 nights while on vacation. The hotel room itself was very outdated but it was very comfortable. There was a kitchenette which consisted of a sink, microwave, and fridge. The television was positioned in such a way that I could see it because my bed was directly in front of it, but my friend could not see the entire screen. She doesn't watch much tv anyway so it was no big deal. There was a balcony which had a wonderful view of someone's back yard but we did get to see some deer wondering around. There's a restaurant, not attached to the hotel, but on the grounds. We had breakfast here both days. It was ok. I would stay here again.

« Family suite is the way to go!! »

If you want to stay close to Yosemite and you have kids I recommend the family suite! We stayed here for 3 nights of a 12 night vacation in Aug 2015 and I wish the rest of our hotel rooms had this much space!!! A back room with 2 queen beds - one for each of my kids - and a separate TV. Just shut the door and you don't have to listen to SpongeBob! A front room with a queen bed and TV. Large bathroom with lots of space, extra sink/counter/mirror in "hallway" between both rooms, plus fridge, microwave, and counter space if you want to prepare food or eat in. Several grocery stores nearby if you want to stock up on snacks, drinks etc. TIP: I highly recommend packing lunches if going to Yosemite!!!! There are little to no options for eating once inside the park and this hotel is 90 min drive to Yosemite Valley. We stopped at Subway both mornings, but the grocery stores will prepared deli sandwiches for you as well and I was told you can call them in. Room was clean, quiet. Grounds were nice. I would stay here again.

« OK for a place to sleep but out dated »

We were in a room at the back of the hotel property as part of our honeymoon in September 2015. We mentioned we was on our honeymoon at check in and wasn't expecting anything except maybe a congratulations from the check in lady - we didn't even get that which I think is rude. The room we had was clean but very old fashioned and out dated. The location is OK for Yosemite - we went into Yosemite as part of a day trip as we didn't want to drive in ourselves as we were on a road trip and doing lots of driving already - it took about 40 minutes to get to Yosemite. A bit of paint in the rooms, new bedding would make this hotel a lot better. They seemed to be doing something in the indoor pool so maybe they are working on updating the hotel. However the most important thing to me is that it is clean and it was so for that I can't fault it. I'd stay again if in Yosemite area as the cost was reasonable compared to other hotels in the area.
