« Great Location, Great Staff »

Hotel is located on main road lined with shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Also immediately off Route 91, extremely convenient for travel purposes. The interior Sports bar is great as well! Food is REALLY good. Some of the best Burgers I've had.

    « Not a happy customer »

If I had known that the hotel blocked a major news channel I would not have stayed. They informed me it was something else but I strongly believe they new the situation. 2 weeks after my stay I noticed that I was charged twice for my room waiting for that to get resolved. Overall, I will not stay here ever again.

« The Only Game in Town »

Our daughter attends Quinnipiac University. We have stayed here several times while visiting her on campus. The cleanliness of the hotel seems to decline every time we stay here. The last time we were here, there was have eaten fruit left under the bed. This time, there was a bug between the mattress and box spring. Maybe that is what they mean by Best Western Plus...this is our last stay here. Sticking with Marriott even if we have to drive a further distance. It's rated #1 in Hamden because there are only two hotels in Hamden total.

    « Incredibly Accommodating! »

I am giving this 5 stars for the value of this hotel - not because it is a luxury hotel. This 5 stars is largely attributed to the incredible service of the staff. I arrived to this hotel from Bradley via CT Limo (drops directly to this hotel) at 10:30 AM after a red-eye from the West Coast. Being tired and cranky, I was hoping they may check me in early - and they did! They even offered the breakfast for that morning. The lobby has coffee/tea/water at all hours which is really convenient. The check-in was smooth. Aesthetically, this is a small-town hotel chain and the lobby is average, but comfortable. It has an indoor pool (10 ft max), a small gym with weights and treadmills, and also a small business center. Everything was clean and easy. The room itself was comfortable, though nothing special. The breakfast was decent with home fries, waffles/french toast, eggs etc. It was warm and there were a variety of options. I was here for business at Quinnipiac's North Haven campus. This hotel offers a shuttle from 7 am - 5 pm for free to the campus, which was very convenient. The shuttle driver even offered to take me around New Haven, if I was interested. They were always a phone call away and were prompt, courteous and kind. I had a rough travel schedule, but my short trip back East was made simple and less of a headache 100% because I had a good experience at this Best Western. Thanks again!

This hotel was clean. Service was good. Room had tub that didn't drain well. room was cleaned well everyday. pulling into the hotel was the entrence into Arby's, which was confusing at first. but did find the driveway. it was close to the highway so it was easy to get to where I was going from the hotel.

    « No complaints »

This hotel was right off of the highway which is good. However, the entrance was hard to find as it was not well light and shared a driveway with Arby's. The side of the building was a bit sketchy with a line of parked 18 wheelers. The staff were professional, check in was fast and easy. The room was basic but very clean, comforter was thin but the pillows made up for it. I was one the first floor, no noise at all. I did hear the occasional footsteps above me so next time I would ask for the highest floor. Breakfast was good, served in the adjoining restuarant, plenty of seats. I asked for a to go plate, which was granted and ate in my room. I just want to add, every staff member said "my pleasure" after I thanked them for each request. It's the little things!

    « Girls weekend stay »

It was ok. Not great. Needs updating especially the bathroom. It was clean and the beds and linens very nice and comfortable. Price was a little steep for a hotel in the middle of no where and with other competitors nearby. I thought the restaurant/breakfast room was really outdated and in much need of modernizing. The breakfast buffet was just ok. Coffee was empty at 9:30 on Sunday morning despite there were 7 people waiting on tables serving OJ and cleaning up plates. Very friendly staff and very eager to help replace the coffee. Would have been nice to have a bigger covered front portico and benches for waiting on your party. There was no where to sit outside and it was rather cramped for arrival/departure. Inside lobby there was a nice welcoming group of couches but really do not hold a lot of people. They should consider buying more contemporary pieces which sit multiples. Overall i picked the hotel because it had the highest ranking in the area and would maybe try another property.

« To Sleep I needed to be DEAF »

Don't stay in the back of the hotel. This is where the train tracks are and you can't sleep more than an hour at a time as the trains pass by all night long. I asked for a room at the front to get away from the noise and was told the charge would be $45 more per night and the room is exactly the same as the one I had. Also these rooms were not occupied during my stay.

    « Check-In disappointment »

On October 21st we tried to check in early, having driven in from the Shawangunk mountains in New York. Understandably, the room was not ready. Emily was busy on what was obviously a personal call about getting a ride home, ignoring the fact that guests were in front of her. When she got off she began to complain about the fact that she was supposed to be off shift, that someone didn't show up for work, and she was now working for nothing. She said the room wasn't ready yet, so we sat in our car in the rain for an hour. I called again to see if it was possible to get in a room and she said I will get you in around 1:30 or so. She took my number and said she would call when it was ready. She never called and when we went to check in at 3:00 p.m. she was gone and never called or updated us about a room.

« Not recommended at all »

Room smelling like vomit, Poor quality sheets - sandpaper like, hotel staff did not try to be accommadating when checking in.. Mandatory two night stay is very unreasonable and they did not accept any discounts because it was a block reservation. Many many of the quest experienced bad key cards and were constantly needing replacements.

« Was great to have a place so close while going to the Ren Faire »

We have been going to Renaissance faires every year , We always try to find the closest place to stay. That is what this place was. Had a great buffet breakfast. Nice Staff. Clean rooms, close to stores for food to bring in your room.

Hotel was extremely lovely, staff professional and courteous. I would definitely stay there again. Amenities were very nice and the breakfast selection outstanding. Great location near many restaurants/ pharmacy and other attractions.

    « Great hotel »

Was here for a parent weekend and it was the perfect hotel for us. The staff was very nice and it has a indoor pool, gym and a restaurant/bar. The location is perfect. Lots of nearby places to eat. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Parent's weekend »

Hotel was clean, neat. Pillows comfortable but mattress could be a little more comfortable. People friendly and helpful. Gym is small, but clean. Pool is also clean. Centrally located to everything. I definitely will stay here again.

    3
    « Banquet Facility »

I was here for a seminar only so my review is not based on a stay. The Ruby room was spacious but drab, tones of brown and gold. There are no windows. The bathroom is rather small given the amount of people who "need to go" during breaks. The breakfast food was not good. The mini bagels were hard. Lunch was not served properly as they piled all of the sandwiches (tuna, meat, veggie) on top of each other so it was difficult to tell which was which. They also forgot to put napkins out. If you have an event here be sure to assign someone to liaison with the staff so things are done properly.

« Bring you own breakfast »

I stayed in this hotel 4 nights. I was by the manager who is Brazilian, she was very polite, she gave us a lot of tips about the city. There is an Outback in the same square, very close to the hotel. The apartment is pretty good mainly the bed, is pretty soft I'd like to stay more days 9nly to sleep more in this amazing bed! The breakfast is too bad. They offered the same menu all days long. I bought other things in the supermarket. I kept it in the frigobar. If needed to stay in this hotel, it will be a pleasure, considering that I will buy my own breakfast.

    4
    « Safe »

This hotel was safe and clean and priced fairly reasonably. It was located near major interstate which I thought I could avoid by asking for room in the back. Which worked. Except in the back was a railroad where the train went by every few hours....so....yeah that sucked. Other than that everything ok.

« One Night Stay on Vacation »

Hotel was easy to find and made a good first impression. It was clean, rooms were very neat. The only complaint was that we couldn't get the room cool enough for our tastes. It was Fall and temps outside were in the low 60's but we like it cool to sleep and the ac just couldn't get it there. We opened the window but it would only open slightly. We would stay here again when in the area.

    3
    « Ok »

The hotel for the most part was good. Nats and flies were in all area's of the hotel. My room, my quests rooms and the restuarant. Guests left with bites. The front desk help were pleasant but not above average. The breakfast was good and the staff was very attentive and patient.

    4
« Would stay here again »

The breakfast options were good, and the wait staff included with the breakfast were wonderful! Very nice and helpful! Bar attached to hotel which was nice. I have no complaints about this hotel. It appears somewhat older and dated, but the room was clean. Very large hotel and my room was somewhat far from the front desk area, but it was fine and I felt safe. A few chain restaurants nearby, easy off and on to hwy, but not much shopping area. I was directed to great shopping nearby though!

« Good mid level hotel »

The workout room was nice, equipment and TV worked well. Room was clean and comfortable. Quiet A/C. Breakfast was good. Did not go into the pool area. Internet worked and was reasonable speed. No issues for this one night stay.

« Great stay for a great price »

The rooms are typical traveling motel style. This place was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The prices are great considering the prices closer to Yale are very high. The location is good as it was really easy to get on and off the interstate. The breakfast was just ok, typical for a free breakfast where the hotel has to serve many people in a short period of time.

    3
    « Just ok »

Upon arrival the hotel looks nice, the lobby is decorated nice but is smaller then it looks on the website, the girls at the desk were very nice and accommodating. However I did not receive a small gift for being a rewards member. We were directed to the side of the building to go to our room. The side entrance wasn't the cleanest. The room we bought was the bridal suite, strange layout. Hot tub was tucked separate from the bathroom behind a wall, the bathroom is small. When I plugged in my charger behind the nightstand there was a ton of dusk on the outlet which told me they didn't clean behind the furniture. I noticed the wallpaper above the bed was peeling off the wall. At night you have to have the outer curtain closed because of the light out in the courtyard. The bed was nice and comfortable. Air conditioner worked well, the breakfast was very good with potatoes, eggs, sausage. Waffles were cold though. All of the staff was very friendly and nice. The pool was cold so we didn't go in, not very clean. This hotel would be a lot nicer if they paid more attention to detail with cleaning.

    « Excellent For a Quick Overnight »

We were traveling up to to Bristol, RI and needed a quick stop over. this is a great place. It is easy to find and the fact that it is a little north off of I-95 is not a problem. Everything was clean, comfortable and the price was excellent so that makes this a great place. there is lots to do around the hotel. The breakfast food was OK and is as good as I expected. this was actually the second time we stayed here, the first on another trip about five years ago.

    « Great stay »

I had to stay here for visiting New Haven. Hotels in New Haven near Yale were just too expensive to afford. I found this hotel and it was only about 15-20 minutes away from Yale. Hotel was clean. Clean sheets, bath, fridge, everything was clear. It's located right next to a high way so very convenient to move around. Best part was complementary breakfast. It was a simple continental breakfast but was included. Plus parking was free. Overall it was great stay and I recommend to stay here.

« Disappointing and sadly filthy »

We travel relatively often and are not the type to complain at all or leave negative reviews, but I must admit this was one of the filthiest rooms/hotels we have ever been given. This review is absolutely not related to the staff (they were all very nice and we appreciated that) . In a nutshell...From a gigantic spider on the smelly carpet, to fruit flies, to mold everywhere in the bathroom, to boggers on the walls, a blood stain on one of blankets, a mountain dew can under the bed (and a MYRIAD of other indescribable 'things'), and even an absolutely filthy entrance door literally so dirty you could distinguish the hand (and foot) grease from the at least the past 5years. I am so sorry to be writing this, I don't mean any harm by writing this review, but I must be honest for the benefit of other potential visitors. I call this lazy maintenance to stay polite and/or simply not caring about cleanliness. We will never stay here again unfortunately. Just hoping this review helps this hotel's management to realize how filthy and unacceptable some rooms are in order to help them improve the experience of future travelers :( PS: the mini-fridge looked clean.

    « It was ok »

I needed a place to sleep while on the way to Boston. It did the trick. It wasn't anything amazing. We walked down the hall and multiple rooms were open with fans on. We walked it out room and it smelled. It had a very old musty smell. I felt that it was a little overpriced. It needs to be updated, that's for sure. It was fine to stay for one night but I wouldn't want to spend any more time then that there. It was just old and it showed. The breakfast was really good!! Lots of variety. Much better then I expected.

« need to improve their booking system and wifi »

I reserved a King bed room for 2 nights for myself at first, then decided to add a night with double beds since my daughter needs to stay one night there. I called BW asking them if they can swap me to a double bed room for the other 2 nights as well so I don't need to check-out and check-in again since I will stay for 3 consecutive nights. The lady assured me that it had been taken care of, but at the time of check in, I was told that I can't stay in the same room for 3 nights. They gave me a King room when my daughter was with me for the first night, then switched me to a double bed room when I was by myself - just the opposite of what I wanted. The first night we arrived there past mid-night, waited for over 20 minutes before we could check in since the reservation of the person in front of us was messed up somehow. The wifi was not very stable either, on and off for me. Other than these issues, it was not bad. Breakfast was decent.

    « Comfortable stay »

We spent the night after attending a concert in Wallingford. The location was perfect and the service personnel were very attentive. The only problem we had was getting the outside door to open on our return after the concert. The door sticks badly. We did report it to the front desk. I would use this hotel again.

« The Best Lodging in the Area »

First of all, I booked a room with a King bed and a pull-out sofa bed. Receptionist said there was no mention of a sofa bed in the reservation and all they had was a King bedroom but could give us a roll-away bed which, in her words, "...is very comfortable". OK, then. My daughter had a horrible night sleep because a third of the springs, under the mattress, were broken! Morning comes, I go to the front desk and tell the receptionist of the dilemma with the springs. She couldn't understand why we weren't given a king bedroom with the pull-out sofa bed when we arrived since IT WAS AVAILABLE! Anyway, she said she would have our room changed by the time we came back in the afternoon. They did change our room in the afternoon. As for the rooms themselves, the amenities are a bare minimum (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, bath gel), no shower cap, tub is slippery (they need mats) and the tile grout could use a good scrubbing! There was no ice machine near our room and the included breakfast was mediocre at best. The coffee was delicious and always available in the hallway. The food in the hotel restaurant (Harry's) was pub type food but delicious and the waitresses couldn't have been nicer!

    5
    « Great Value & Customer Service »

Staff was great adjusting our stay arrangements several times. Room was clean & nice with a comfy queen size bed (two queen bed room). Buffet breakfast was included in the rate and was good and the staff did a great job making sure you had everything you needed.

    3
« Does not deserve the plus »

If it had not been for Emily (at the front desk) this would have been two, not even a three. But emily retrieved some notes I had left in the room, and that deserves recognition. This is an old hotel that has been inadequately (or too long ago) renovated. It is bit down at the heel, many things do not work, and in general, I cannot give management high marks for attention to detail. Breakfast is OK. People are nice.

    5
    « Wonderful Stay »

The room was pretty, clean and quiet. The breakfast was the best with a hot/cold buffet, table service and good coffee. I didn't use the pool but it looked nice. Hotel staff was so nice. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler. They have a in-house bar/grill and there are a nice selection of offsite eateries. Easy on and off the highway.

    3
    « Motel »

Motel, close to highway. Easy. Not too much to say about it because it is a prominent example of American motel by the highway. Generally clean. Breakfast complimentary and was simple but ok. Free parking. Staff helpful. When commuting, to sleep over, I can recommend.

    3
    « Last resort »

This hotel was expensive for what it is. The beds were comfortable but the rooms were small, some musty smelly and quite dusty. The shower was good and free breakfast was very nice. Staff was good. I was only here because the wedding party said to go there.

    2
« Lots of room for improvement »

Hotel staff was fine, but they couldn't resolve problems with our bill, despite three attempts. The rooms are very dated, especially the bathrooms. The carpets were absolutely filthy in our room (136).

    3
    « Mix Bag.... »

Stayed here with another couple attending a graduation at Quinnipiac. The hotel really was a mixed bag, frankly. I travel alot for my job and I found this to be a decent and not great hotel which came off as having decent sized rooms which were generally clean. They have a really nice garden area plus a Sports pub/restaurant with decent buffet Breakfast in the morning. Some down sides were that the carpeting in the hallways was dated, they had fly traps hanging from the windows in the hallway leading from the lobby to the first floor rooms (really?), and while they have a nice sized indoor (only) pool- which quite frankly was absolutely refreshing water temperature wise (outside temps were 97F)- the water was absolutely disgusting and looked like it had not been cleaned in days. The pool water got churned up by multiple folks swimming in it and was so bad that our party of 8 left the pool area to take showers. The pool water experience and fly traps in the hall area really drove this review to a 2-3 circle review. North Haven does not have alot of choices. Proximity to Quinnipiac is great. Breakfast was fine and rooms are a decent size and fine in the end (recommend to spend the extra $ and get the Suite, though). Front desk did their job- nothing more/nothing less. Pool and some general issues need to be looked into. I would recommend short stay here but not much more beyond that.

« Great hotel to stay in the New haven area »

A very nice clean hotel, rooms are clean & spacious, Breakfast and staff were great, they kept a very clean area and were always there to assist if we needed anything. Food was hot and tasty. The bar/lounge was great as well. The burgers/fries/onion rings were great. Our waitress was fantastic, she gave great info concerning "Things to do" within an hour of the New Haven area. The staff at the breakfast and lounge were 5 star.

    « Not impressed »

Spent a couple days here in early August after the renovations from Holiday Inn to Best Western plus. Unfortunately the front desk receptionist gave me the worst room in the place for noise and there were a couple weddings going in that weekend. As I say I was asking Nebbie to change room type from a handicap room to a twin bed and she not only kept me in handicap but also must have thought it funny to place me at the intersection of 2 hallways right up front. I heard loud noise until after 2:30 AM. Any time I go east I've always stayed at this hotel going back to when it was a Ramada Inn in the 80's. Will not do it again.

« Be Sure To Get Cost In Writing »

Be truthful with me about the cost of the stay. I was provided a written amount for the stay and I was overcharged at checkout. I had to dispute the charge with my credit card company to resolve. The dispute was in my favor.

    « Softball Tournament »

Our softball team stayed here for 2 nights during July, everything was fine, rooms were clean, cute little sports bar on premises and close to lots of restaurants and stores. My only complaint was housekeeping and timeliness of it - our room was cleaned on day one but no new towels were left - after two softball games in the hot weather all my daughter wanted to do was take a shower - I kid you not getting a towel was like trying to win the lottery - the maid was so apologetic and very nice and pleasant but it took her 20mins to find me one clean towel so she could shower - granted she told me she would have all new towels by 4pm today and bring them to our room and when we got back from our afternoon out they were there as promised :). Only other small issue was when we arrived at check in at 3pm again after a day of softball and traveling from MA we had to wait until almost 4 to check in, with check in time stated as 3pm, again staff was super nice and apologetic but waiting is a pain no matter how nice they are :). These issues are small and would not deter me from staying here again and only reason I mention is so management will get a handle on it :). The kids had a great time in the pool and there was areas for them to just sit and relax and meet other girls from other teams!!!

« Great place to stay »

This hotel's staff and management were very accommodating & friendly. Everyone was out to make our stay pleasant!! I HIGHLY recommend staying here, if you are ever in the area! The Facility was very clean, the food was good! The housekeeping crew was awesome, cleaning the room when we out for a short time. Breakfast was good and the wait staff was awesome! Our hotel made the trip very enjoyable and I'm very happy the team chose to stay here. The area offers every kind of shopping and it was close. They even had a DQ down the street which the girls couldn't get enough of. Don't waste your time looking for the best hotel to stay at if you are in the area. The hotel can't be beat, you get your money's worth when you stay here. Keep up the good work BWP of North Haven! Don't have anything else to add to this but I have to do a minimum of 200 characters to get this posted. What else can I say, it was awesome, thank you for making our visit such a pleasant one.

    « Here for a softball tournament »

We've been to some pretty bad hotels during our softball travels but this is not one of them. This Best Western is pretty nice. Very clean and spacious. They have a nice indoor pool, a really nice garden area plus a pub/restaurant! The hotel is packed with softball players but you'd never know it as there is plenty of room to move around. I recommend this hotel!

I'd stayed here previously seems it's lost a bit....Room was adequate nothing at all special...a combination of issues though, ...elevator not operable...tv wasn't working because Elevator company working on elevator had to remove DISH? ..refrig didn't work called desk they promised they'd send someone....no one ever showed up...Maid entered my room three hours after checking in.,5pm for what who knows left but left the door ajar,,again ??? .... No refrig...no elevator....no tv....no service..probably never again. ..previous stays rating would have been 4 star!

« On top of train tracks »

This room was booked for me for the purpose of a job interview. Staff was very nice when I checked in, but when I drove around to get to the door nearest my room I realized that the train track is about 10ft from the parking lot. The "security" door which requires a room key to get into - doesn't close properly so anyone can walk in. The building/room seems a bit run down (closet doors aren't aligned properly, wooden plank in window sill, wear on walls type of stuff), but very clean. I can hear the train pass by (3 times so far - I've been here 2 hrs). There is one tiny tiny elevator and I felt like I was walking around a labyrinth trying to find it, then around three corners to get to my room. I'll take the stairs back down. I did try to go to the onsight bar/grill to get something to eat, but after sitting for about 15min with zero attention/response from wait staff I just left (it was already 7pm and I was starving) - grabbed a bottle of wine from liquor store 2seconds down the road and some Arby's. =)

    « Dirty hotel »

I should have known we were in trouble when we checked in and the front desk said I couldn't have a king size bed (even though I had specified this when I booked in early April. We helped my mother-in-law to her room and as we were getting her settled in my husbands foot caught a pair of mens underwear from under the edge of the bed. In our room the housekeeping had missed a large sport bottle top next to the nightstand. In the morning I went to take my shower and had no shampoo, as I was checking out the bottle of body wash it was empty. When they brought up the shampoo, body wash etc 2 of the bottles were used. I would not go back to this hotel ever.

Very clean and nice place to stay. Rooms clean and good size. Big clean pool area. Free breakfast very good with helpful staff and many choices. Would avoid Harry's on site Bar/Pub. Horrible service, ok food for dinner.

« Seminar Room Attendant Markee - FABULOUS »

Although I did not stay at the hotel, I conducted a seminar there. Markee was our banquet captain. He was attentive, professional and proactive. He paid particular attention to detail and even Fabreezed the room. Thanks so much for all that you did!

« Good for what it is »

I stayed at this hotel on business. What can I say? It was conveniently off the highway, clean and a nice room. I was a little disappointed that two lamps didn't work. Had a sports bar that was decent. The night I was there it was totally dead. The front desk was helpful. I was quite surprised at how big this hotel was. It had a ton of rooms. Other than that I have no complaints.

    « Good, clean hotel »

Stayed at the North Haven Best Western for one night. Had some family business to attend to. The hotel is close to center of North Haven. They have a good, but typical, breakfast buffet, which is included in the room price. Hotel is clean and quiet.

    « Adequate »

Booked for 2 nights for a wedding nearby. Staff was friendly and helpful. Hotel needs an update but it was adequate for what we needed. Room was nice, bathroom was small. Price was reasonable. Had a courtyard room, courtyard needs some sprucing up. Would be nice to have some tables with the chairs outside. Pool was large but no supervision on who comes into the area. Even though you need a card to get in the door, guests were allowing bigger groups of people in to swim.

Just satisfactory. Reasonably clean, reasonably priced. Good location. Staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ok. Overall, hotel still needs some work... Decent pool, workout facility. Nice courtyard but needs more grooming. Stayed a week and was definitely too long for this type of hotel.

« Great Stay During Weekend Concert/Hiking Trip »

I booked this hotel over Hotwire the day before a weekend trip down to CT for a Jackson Browne concert at the Oakdale. I was pleased with the price and location close to the theater, but everything else was exceptional as well. My room was very well cleaned and presentable upon my arrival. I was surprised to find my room also had a microwave and mini fridge. I'll know to bring extra snacks next time I stay, haha! The bed was very comfortable and I got a great night's sleep. The breakfast in the hotel was very good with a great selection cereals, grains, and meatier fare. The homestyle potatoes were a little "bleh" but other than that it was good. Overall my stay was fabulous and I would definitely stay here again.

« Great hotel for the price »

Staff is very friendly, room was clean and adequate. Location is central. Complimentary breakfast was adequate and tasty and the pool is a good size for a hotel pool. Friendly staff at the bar. Has everything you need.

« Great hotel for the money »

I was in town to attend a high school reunion. This hotel was conveniently locate, next to two major highways, yet it was very quiet. My room was on the second floor, with a courtyard view. There were three wedding parties also staying at the hotel but I did not hear a peep. We had drinks in the restaurant lounge - very pleasant and not too expensive. The pool area looked great although I did not use it. I wish the hotel website included the in-room mini-fridge and microwave in the list of amenities. Also had free wifi. Staff was very helpful and professional. A great experience all around.

Mot the best not the worst. TV sucks though. Hotel is kind of gloomy. It was pretty clean. Fitness center was not that good. The staff was friendly enough. the breakfast wasn't anything great. It is in a great location though.

    « Adequate »

Room was clean, but had faint version of that deodorizer odor you find in economy motels. Looks like it was built maybe 1960s, and not recently renovated. Hallways had old look and carpeting looked far from new. Staff did not function as a well oiled machine -- sent to occupied room (where my key worked); next day key did not work (until two trips back to front desk) on my own room. Desk had no working outlet for laptop (unplugged lamp to get one, then it was dark). TV had many cable channels incl HBO & Cinemax, but CBS and ABC had no signal. Room was clean, however, and while I heard some loud residents and a little street noise, not bad for hotel that is right next to I-91. They have a restaurant that I did not sample (no free breakfast, but coffee available in lobby). A/c worked well.

    2
    « My experience »

The hotel was average. The cleaning staff was very poor. They left me no clean towels and did not replace the empty tissue box. There was no one to assist with my luggage. The front desk seemed fairly indifferent to my needs. Additionally, when I went for tea in the morning there were tea bags but no hot water, only coffee.

my wife booked another hotel and after reading reviews i suggested this property.I was very happy ..we told them we were going to see quinnipiac and they had a special rate ..the hotel is right off exit 12 on I91..the gps sent us past hotel right right right and finally back to hotel ..i dont know why ...breakfast was good as well as the rooms ..overall good stay for the price

    « Terrible Experience »

There isn't enough space to go into detail, so: toilet back up when got into room after wife used bathroom, auditor would not plunge it, I plunged it, splashed on me, auditor said "It's your wife's pee, what's the big deal?" Moved us to another room more toilet problem and room had ants. Didn't sleep at all. No manager to speak to. Nobody was concerned with out disappointment....it looked so nice. Woke up to an inch of water on first floor from toilet back ups! Staff was unapologetic and curt, except for front desk in the morning who said there was nothing she could do.

« Best Best Western Breakfast! »

We stay at BW a lot and we have never been happy with the breakfast rooms or food. But North HAVEN has a very nice actual restaraunt setting and actually serves real food instead of the fake eggs normally offered elsewhere.

« Beautiful Hotel-- Rates Very Greatly for same room »

Attending family funeral, staying 5 nights. This hotel is right off 91. The on /off is easy. Rooms are spacious, and very clean. Harry's bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The complimentary breakfast has has real eggs and many choices.. Everything about the hotel is excellent. BUT, THIS IS NOT A VALUE IN THERE IS PRICE GOUGING. Hotel rates went from $105.26 to $299.00 for the same room ( 2 adults) Hotel attitude was, this is corporate decision because it was graduation weekend. I would not recommend this hotel.

    1
« My rate was $50 dollars more!! »

I made reservations for three rooms 6 months ago for my son's graduation. The rate was $100 more than we've paid in the past. When we checked in, I needed to change one room from a king to 2 doubles. That was done and they changed the rate to $50 dollars lower! I asked about changing the rate for the other two rooms. I was told they can't do it. Interesting. We stayed at a motel last weekend and they lowered my rate at checkout. We travel 2-3 weekends a month plus vacations. I'm happy to take my business elsewhere.

« Decent stay for hotel quality »

Good stay for the type of hotel. Great breakfast, clean linens, nice reception area and very nice staff. It makes up for the quality of the hotel. Carpets need a cleaning or look like they need a cleaning, sofa looked used. It was a great distance to Quinnipiac campus.

    3
    « Noisy HVAC Units »

We have stayed here a number of times because of its location only. Almost every room we stayed in had noisy HVAC units. They are so loud you have to shut them off to sleep. Then you have to contend with noisy neighbors.

    « Not Bad »

clean and comfortable and has all basic amenities. Nice people, I mean really nice folks. The hotel construction needs some upgrades but has all basic necessities and the pool is nice too. Toward the end of the day getting coffee or tea in the lobby was not available and breakfast set up was not that bad but looked like people there were really working hard to clean up and also take care of breakfast bar but there were too many people.

very beautiful property clean very well maintained. had an indoor pool staff very friendly. great breakfast offerings. if my travels brought me back to the area I would stay again. « Highly Recommended!!! »

After having a HORRIBLE experience at another hotel in this area, we checked out quickly and took another chance and made a reservation at this Best Western Property. Best choice we made, The hotel staff was very pleasant and helpful in helping us to recommend a place to eat (it was 10:00pm and had been driving for over 4.5 hours!); we ate at the restaurant at the hotel and it was delicious and the staff was great. Stay here!!!

« Some glitches, but great service recovery »

We had a first communion to attend in North Haven so when we arrived we unloaded our bags and hung our dress clothes. I tossed my new, first edition book on the bed to read later! we left for our sons and came back to a room that felt like a steam sauna. There was 2 inches of water on the floor and the carpets and bed were soaked like sponges. My book was ruined and thank goodness we had hung out suits. The front desk moved us to an upstairs room. When we got to the new room we checked the bed like we always do. (Retired Airline) and found that the sheets were dirty. Not stained, but dirty. They sent up new sheets, but when we pulled them off, even the mattress pad was dirty. The problem with the room above us and that guest leaving their tub running, was something the hotel couldn't avoid. They reassured us that the maid issue would be dealt with. I'm sure it will. The manager and front desk could not have been more eager to please. They had great employees throughout the hotel. Even the Bar had great food and the Bartender was amazing. We ordered a burger, which was cooked perfectly. There was a free breakfast buffet and having traveled with flight crew for years and years, we've seen our share of rubber eggs. This buffet was wonderful. The eggs were real and cooked perfectly. The staff watched them carefully and only put out a few at a time so that they didn't overcook. The coffee was really good and the service was wonderful! I can't say enough about the staff. They were great. The location is a great one, right off the expressway. The interior layout of the hotel is strange. We only found one elevator and couldn't always find a way to the next hallway. We spent a lot of time wandering around, trying to get to our room. Our New England saying, "You can't get there from here." kept coming to mind. It's only 2 stories so climbing the stairs was no big deal, but if you need an elevator or stairs give you fits, ask for a room by the elevator. Ask for one on the TOP floor too.

    « Ali's Bridal Shower Stay »

We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. We were at Harry's bar and grill restaurant in the hotel, and the service was great. A big shout out to Heather, Jen, Brian who were very helpful, and wonderful to be around. We told them that we were here for a bridal shower but was looking for something to do afterwards. Jen told us that there will be a band that night, (called Prime Time - they were really great to listen to!!) and they usually get a big crowd, she was kind enough to reserve a table for us. When we got there, (around 5:30) the table was there and they made sure that we got our food and drinks with no waiting!!!! I would definitely recommend this hotel. Only downside, the pool was closed for maintenance, but we were only there for one night! Thanks again to Jen, Heather and Brian!!!

« Great Free Breakfast - Fresh Eggs, Fruit, and Service »

I have stayed at this unit several times ... the pool is recently renovated and is wonderful ... the breakfast buffet is always hot with fresh eggs, sausage, and potatoes, as well as, fresh fruit ... the restaurant staff will cook to order, if you have a special need ... this sets them apart from the frozen eggs and stiff waffles their competitors serve ... I know because I have stayed at them all in the area ...

    « Nice Place »

Great place to stay if you are in the area. Close to the highway, restaurants, some shopping. They also have an indoor pool which is great. Breakfast is included which is a full spread. Eggs, sausage, french toast, cereal, juices, etc.

    « Great Place »

My family and I stayed here for 4 nights on a vacation to visit family. We needed a place that had a big enough room for all of us as well as wheelchair access, as I have a disabled son. This hotel definitely delivered. The room was very spacious, and the pullout couch bed was plenty big enough for my son to sleep in. We did take advantage of the free breakfast, and it was just ok, could have been better but I'm nitpicking here. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking to stay in the area, oh yea, and I have to say, if you do stay here, go down to the restaurant that's in the hotel and try the chicken wings! They were SO good.....but you don't have to go to the restaurant, you can just call down from the room and they will send up whatever you want. The girl who brought us the wings was awesome, she even filled up our ice bucket for us.

    « Very nice »

So most everyone realizes when staying at a hotel you get what you pay for. Well I would say the cleanliness, the ammenities, and the helpfull staff kick this hotel up above others at the same price point. The only negative thing about this property was the trains that run behind the building. The complimentary breakfeast was much better than typical hotels offer. Including eggs, homefries and sausages. As well as juices , milk. Also various breads and muffins. I did not use the pool, however it did look nice. Also the general conditions of the property were immaculate. The room was spotless upon arrival, as well. So kuddos to the hotel staff, and management. I would definetely recomend this hotel.

    « Very acceptable »

This is a nice hotel with everything you expect from a hotel of this level. The major upside was that it was very quiet. Everything was clean and the staff were friendly. The big downside for me was the mattress which wasn't comfortable at all. The breakfast was acceptable and the restaurant staff were nice. Overall, I would recommend it for a business stay of no longer than 1-2 days. Anything longer, and you should bring your own mattress!!!

    « Mixed Review! »

This was the first time we stayed at a Best Western Plus. The hotel was clean and up to date. We had a quick check-in, but but during our check in, a woman next to us reported that the room assigned to her already had other guests in the room. The reservations staff was not very apologetic, which surprised me. Our room was clean, bed comfortable, but I don't find the square bed pillows to be comfortable, instead of the regular standard size pillows. I'm sure that we could have called housekeeping for these, but didn't . There were no tea bags in the kitchenette, so we went down to the complementary coffee and tea station near the reception area and there were no tea bags there either. The coffee and hot water for tea was also lukewarm. The reservation desk told us to go to the restaurant in the hotel to get the tea bags. So, didn't bother with this either. My husband used the gym, which he said was ok. The biggest issue with this stay was the heating unit in the room. It was very noisy. If you are a light sleeper, like me, it ruined my stay. I was exhausted the next day. There was complementary breakfast, but we didn't eat at the hotel, so cannot comment on that. Overall, the staff that we interacted with were very nice.

    4
    « Good stay »

Overall very pleased with the hotel and location. We were there visiting family so we did not have breakfast there or eat on the property. The room was clean and maintained well. Our only negative is the bed was a bit soft for us. Would like to see a firm mattress request added to choices.

    « good hotel »

This is a good hotel and I would stay here again. The hotel is very clean. The pool is very well kept and the service is very good as well. The beds are ok they are average to good. The rooms are very clean and kept well. You get a full breakfast with the price of your room.It is not bad you get scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, orange juice, coffee, oatmeal, cereal, toast, bagels,The price of the rooms are average for the area. So over all it is a good place to stay.Hope this helps you.

Location was convenient, outside appearance and reception area was presentable, rooms were clean, bed was comfortable, no noise, great breakfast ! Onle many entrances in this large hotel made it confusing for the first time. I will consider to stay here again.

    « Spacious clean room »

We stayed here with our two little dogs. The room was spacious and clean. The microwave was not working. The hotel sent someone up who repaired the wire. We would definitely stay here again. The breakfast buffet was free, but the quality of the food was poor. Next time we'll skip that part.

« Fine for the price »

It was a fine place to stay for the night. The bed was comfortable, it was quiet and clean. I didn't try the restaurant mostly because it was late and I didn't want a big meal, but it did seem nice enough.

« Depends on what you are used to »

Rather basic hotel in which you feel the death of the salesman coming through the doors. Very good service, very bad breakfast, beds are good, but hey sleeping between a motorway and a railway isnt really posh. Just like its the last hotel where you dont find a shower gel burnget a soap bar and the ultmate treat is a pantene shampoo. Somif its for one night its ok, but dont stay longer

« Good accommodation at a reasonable price »

The drive down from Bradley International airport was a breeze: 40 minutes in mid-afternoon. The hotel is very accessible from I-91, and situated on a commercial strip with lots of stores, service shops, and restaurants. (Bellino's, three blocks south, is kiss-my-hand Italian.) The price paid for the great location is noise; the hotel is tucked into the intersection of the interstate and the Amtrak. Ask for a room on the courtyard. The person who checked us in was just right, and volunteered very helpful information about the hotel's shuttle being available for drop-off and pick-up at the train station. Our room, one king upstairs, was a bit better than expected (at the price) for an older property that has changed hands a few times. It was clean and well-supplied, good bathroom, fridge, coffeemaker, real desk chair, good arrangements of tabletop outlets with associated USB ports for charging. I liked the armchair, too. There should be a dimmable lamp behind it for early risers with snoozy partners. The workout room had two treadmills, a stepper, and some large contraption with straps and bars and a two-inch-thick users' manual in the corner: the hotel should lose that and get a third treadmill. The indoor pool was surprisingly large and deep. The free breakfast was scrambled eggs, sausage, and the usual assortment of sugar-drenched carbohydrates. Was the brown liquid hot? yes. Contained caffeine? yes. Was it coffee? maybe it was. Harry's, the sports grill internal to the hotel, has lots of really loud TVs, so no worries about having to hear your idiot business companions' conference-related drivel. The food and service was business-travel-acceptable. The three-night stay was enjoyable, and repeatable. I can recommend the hotel for its value and presentability; a solid choice.

    3
« Stay if it's in your budget, that's not fair »

It was nice and clean. It had a bit of an odor, and breakfast left something to be desired, but the bed was clean, comfortable and had a dozen or so pillows. It is right off the highway, yet quiet and close to dozens of shop and restaurants. The staff was pleasant and the cost wasn't horrible.

« Pictures is fake than reality! »

This wifi Is terrible! The back of the hotel isn't wifi compatible. The hotel isn't what it's like in the pictures. This is just like a MOTEL 8!!! Shame to the name of Best Western. You can hear people talking in the hallways just like next to you. The wall is thin. The only reason I rated this 2 stars is because the bed sheet is clean and I can used microwave.

    « Friendly Concierge »

The concierge was great. He helped us find a dog-friendly room and was quick to offer a late checkout when I explained to him that I would be in a class all morning while my girlfriend and dog would be waiting for me. He made the trip nice and easy.

« Comfortable Bed Clean Room »

Clean, comfortable quiet room. Great staff. Breakfast was your usual free hotel breakfast. Reason for the 4 rating and not a 5 is there was a little mold around the shower. The coffee pot had to be moved to the bathroom to be used as there was no plug where it was stored and the bed pillows are smaller than usual. Also, Amtrak train runs close behind the hotel and the building shook when it went by but i only heard it once at 7am.

    5
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

My bed was super comfy!! The food at Harry's was delicious! Loved my flame grilled steak and fresh mashed potatoes and veggies! So many places used boxed mashed potatoes and frozen veggies. You could def taste the difference! Hotel staff was super friendly!

« Great for pet traveler »

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the last six months while visiting my daughter in New Haven. We travel with our Irish Wolfhound, who is quite large but quiet. Guests with pets are assigned rooms on the first floor. We use side or back doors rather than the main lobby since some folks are afraid of large dogs. My husband walks the dog in the back grassy area along the side of the hotel. The hotel is clean and beds are comfortable. There is enough floor space for a large dog bed. We will be back for future trips.

« Good Facility but noisy »

The hotel has a nice lobby and great looking restaurant. The staff were nice and friendly as well. We enjoyed the breakfast experience most. The room was clean, the location was great. And we had high expectation to get a good night sleep. Unfortunately, there were two unexpected problems: 1) The heating system was very noisy, it also looked outdated. Every 10-15 minutes it started working to keep the room warm, and it was very noisy throughout the night. We switched that off for some hours to catch some sleep, and then the room was cold. None of us got a good night sleep. 2) It was very noisy outside, the sound proof was poor. People went up and down the hallway and you could hear their conversation. My husband even counted how many people were outside as he was disturbed by the crowd of young adults talking loudly and laughing outside in the middle of the night. They had every right to enjoy their stay but the room was not sound proof. That is quite disappointing. Overall we still gave it a better than average rating giving the overall facilities. But they really need to improve the heating system and give their guests more privacy for better sound proof rooms.

    « Nice enough »

The hotel was nice enough, and the staff were friendly. The room was not well cleaned and the towels were not of good quality. There was no room with 2 Queen beds, which would better meet our needs. The beds were also very uncomfortable and there were not good blankets.

    3
    « convenience over quality »

This hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. It is not a great place to stay, except for convenience. It is time for a make-over so it is over-priced for the quality for sure. Breakfast is included but it is not worth eating, the coffee is awful. Self-serve and the staff is a disappearing act.

« Great location, friendly staff »

We stayed here for one night while visiting Quinnipiac University. The location was great and we were at the Mount Carmel campus in less than 15 minutes and to the North Haven campus in less than 10. Staff was very friendly and efficient at check in and check out and helped us to select a location for parking outside the building that would make the trips to and from our room easier. Breakfast in the restaurant was comfortable and tasty. The bathroom was a little tight. Beds were comfortable. We would not hesitate to stay here again when back in the area.

    « POOR MANAGEMENT »

I was at this location in August 2015 and I was very disappointed and will never stay there again. We checked in at 9 PM , the room was clean but it had a strong odor of cigarettes. I immediately called the front desk and they told me how sorry they were. They changed my room and I ended up with the handicap room which had a full-size bed and not the king size bed that I ordered. They were sorry also for that. The shower and the toilet was not what I was accustomed to as it was geared towards handicap people. I had a tough time sleeping because The full-size bed was not comfortable and small. I wasn't offered anything however being persistent I ended getting half off. They should've comped the room. If they had good communication skills they would have reported the smoking incident to management nine hours before I got there. I will never stay there again!!

    « Not a happy camper! »

I wish I could say that our stay was pleasurable, but I can't. I booked two nights 1/23&1/24. We have a snow storm that dumped close to 10" and when we went to get into our cars the afternoon of the 24th not only were we "plowed" in but someone used a snow blower (I think) and the passenger inside of my car was completely covered. We also ended up leaving at 4:30pm on the 24th because the air quality in the room was so bad my girlfriend's allergies kicked in and she got all snuffed up. It was most likely caused my a mold issue. I stayed in the North Haven Hotel Room #290, paid for 2 nights but only stayed for 1 night, for room that cost over $100 a night I feel I was taken. At this point I will never stay at a Best Western again and will discourage my family and friends to stay also.

    « Great Stay »

On this trip I needed a location that was easy to get on and off of major routes - like 91 & 95. This hotel was perfect, I got a clean room and the service from the staff was great. Check In was fast and easy and they roved advice on easiest access to my room. I had choices of the floor and room configuration (went with King on first floor) and had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was included, so I gave it a try (i'm not a breakfast person). The choices were ok - I would like to have had Pancakes or waffles available, but there were healthy choices as well as traditional egg and sausage with potatoes. Pretty good for a free breakfast. Very pleasant and helpful waitstaff. Overall a good experience and I will continue to use this location (had been here 9 months ago and returned because it was also a good experience). Note: 2015-01-22 pool area was under construction - not something I needed on this visit.

« Nice stay! Pleasant staff. »

Rooms were clean and spacious. Cleaning service on room was good. Although I requested a couple of extra towels and didn't receive them. Shampoo and conditioner were not replenished. Upon arrival I found a used wash cloth hanging over the shower rod. Staff was very pleasant. Had dinner one night at Harry's and it was good. Breakfast in the morning was OK. Eggs and home fries were good. Croissants hard as a rock. That side of the restaurant (for breakfast) felt a little dirty. The buffet was a bit messy. Silverware in the bucket was still wet and some had food on them. Again, staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Overall, I would stay here again. Just minor things for improvement.

    « Surprised (in a good way) »

This hotel must have originally been a "motel" circa 1970's originally, but has been updated throughout so anyone of the current generation probably wouldn't even be able to tell. Our room was terrific. We were attending a family gathering and so booked a suite in case we needed to use the pullout sofa bed. Well, our room had a small kitchenette with a 2 burner electric stove, a microwave and a mini fridge, as well as a sink. Our room with king size bed had one door which closed for privacy. The decor was newer contemporary styled. Bathroom was clean. My daughter also took a suite but it was quite different. It had a wall separating the bedroom from the living room area but the wall was open on both sides, so her kids could (and did) run around it in a circle passing from the living to the bedroom and back again, and again, and again. LOL. Their"kitchen" was a small maybe 2' wide base cabinet with the mini fridge inside the cabinet and a microwave on top but no counter space or stovetop or sink like ours did. We both thought we were ordering the same thing except I was a King and they were 2 Queen beds, but obviously there is a difference so, ask, depending on your need before you book. Honestly, I could have stayed in our room for a week, no problem, if I was vacationing in the area. Our rooms came with free breakfast and there was French toast, cereals, sausage, eggs, etc, etc. very nice and the restaurant area was attractive and clean. Did try the pool and it was also aok. Be aware though that it is 4' deep at the low end and 10' deep at the deep end with a rapid descent from one side to the other. All of the staff we encountered were pleasant and attentive. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « Good place »

This hotel lives up to Best Western standards. I tend to stay at Best Westerns often and properties like this are why. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The sports grill on site has a decent menu and drink offerings. If you are traveling to the area I would recommend it for the price.

    « A great business trip.... »

Stayed at the Best Western on business for one night. Walked in to a festive lobby ready for the holidays. I booked a standard king room with a decent view. The rooms are good for the price paid. In the morning had a breakfast that was included in the price ? All staff I came in contact was friendly and professional. Will stay again if I'm ever in the area.

« Best Western Plus North Haven = we will return! »

Staying here for Thanksgiving is now a tradition. We are completely satisfied with all that you would expect from a hotel and are really happy with the large indoor pool, gym and friendly, satisfying free breakfast.

    « Grandchildren had a Ball »

Rooms were comfortable and clean. Bathrooms a little small but shower excellent. Amenities terrific: Breakfast( came with the room) was good with more choices then one could eat but the best was the pool, large, warm and a great place for Kids to expend their energy. Also a good exercise room. We were a family with grandparents, parents and children and all were happy.

    « Thank you »

Keep up the good work. Your service and smile was helpful. You provided what is needed and continue to ensure that we had a good and friendly service. I am sure people will be happy with work you do in ensuring that they are comfortable and informed with their stay. You provide much and expect less in your service, money well spent.

    « Great option!! »

Usually don't stay at anything but a mid-level Marriott or Sheraton, but stayed here with a lacrosse group. I was nervous, but SO pleasantly surprised that I enrolled in the rewards program (and for doing so they upgraded me to a king suite for the night). I would have joined the rewards program anyway! Impeccably clean hotel, pool, restaurant,, everything. A small setback in restaurant, but it didn't alter my overall experience. Loved this hotel .....

« Nice rooms, sports bar could be better »

The staff here is very accomodating. There was a strong smoke odor in our first room, which I really couldn't be around... but they switched our room for us very easily. The sports bar was a bit off ... they didn't have the drink we wanted, forgot my food items, couldn't play the game we wanted on the TV we were watching (just a normal Sunday night football game), and WAY overused a highly scented cleaning product during business hours which was difficult to breathe around (it was like an orange scented febreze). The rooms are VERY nice, pool is BIG, nice courtyard, comfortable beds and pillows, big TVs... mostly just the smell of the cleaning products was way too overwhelming.

    « Great Service »

Once again I stayed at the Best Western and received great from Harry's restaurant each night I had dinner there. Want to thank Jenna D for providing this service even though she was busy with a big party in the bar area she still treated everyone there with the same respect and courtesy while providing great service didn't wait long to order food and they were quick to serve the food and never had to wait for a drink even though it was busy.

« Pleasant stay, even in a rainstorm »

We stayed here while visiting our daughter who is at college locally. The location was ideal, with ease of access to I-91. Our King room was large and comfortable, and when an overnight rain storm caused a minor ceiling leak, we were moved immediately. Helpful staff, would stay again.

« Disappointed Swim & You all put us in a Back Parking Area,no Courtyard!! »

Since we had planned on staying @ this Hotel for 6 days on this Vacation, your Website happen to say,"Indoor Heated Pool". So my Husband looking to relax, decides on a break in your Pool. Well imagine our surprise, we walk into your Pool Room, your Ceiling is falling down in Several Areas of All things! Being a Maintenance man, himself , he even noticed a piece in center of the deep end inside the Pool! Not to mention Pool was Cold!!! Thats Not Good!! Your Maintenance Dept needs to Come in there to DO Dry Wall & Re- Paint the Whole Ceiling! Not just the Areas by any means! Plus check the heater! If my Cousin knew that, he'd be highly upset-since it was his daughter getting married, & he blocked off several rooms for his out of State Family.

    « Bed bugs everywhere! »

Stayed overnight, woke up with itchy bumps all over my body. I'm a frequent traveler and I've never stayed at such an unhygienic hotel! I'm thinking this needs to be reported to the health board. It does not seem like I'm the only one to report this.

« Bed bug infestation, stay away!! »

Stayed one night with friends, and woke up with itchy red welts all over my arms, hands and body. It was bad enough I kept itching even in dreams the whole night. The bathroom light flickers on and off for close to a minute before turning, like old style lamps. Not sure how this hasn't been fixed. I do not recommend anyone stay here.

My stay was out of this world good which was the norm for the B/W hotel family. From the moment I stepped into the front lobby I knew this was going to be a wonderful nights stay. Amenities where very nice compared to most hotels I stay in from day to day. Thanks again for a very outstanding stay an experience looking forward to my next visit.

    « Terrible Customer Service »

Desk clerk was asleep upon arrival and no one answered the phone. My reserved room was given to another guest. Was then assigned to a room which already had another guest in it. The guest was angry and this was a potentially dangerous situation. Then was transferred to a room in which the shower had backed up. And then was moved to a room with two double beds (instead of the king bed I reserved). Plus the room smelled strongly of mildew. Spoke to the manager in the morning who shared the name of the guest who was in the room we were sent to the evening prior. Very unprofessional. Then offered the choice of two rooms with king beds to choose from: the same room where the shower was broken the evening before (now fixed) or a room that smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke (in a non-smoking hotel). One morning, my boyfriend went to breakfast and I slept in. The waitress asked where I was. When my boyfriend told her I was still asleep, she hit on him and asked to join him for breakfast. My boyfriend felt this was disrespectful to both me and himself. A bill was put under my door the morning of check out. The amount was approximately $279. When I went to the front desk, they asked for $417. When I expressed my frustration, they attempted to contact the manager who was not on site and did not answer the phone. The manager called me shortly thereafter and was incredibly rude stating that the bill I was given for $279 was a clerical error; Best Western is not required to compensate me for the incorrect reservation or any of the issues we encountered; that I could have chosen to leave; that he was not required to give me an option for rooms; that just because the hotel has a no-smoking policy does not mean it is illegal for people to smoke in the rooms; and if I didn't like it then he had nothing left to say. A truly horrible experience. This used to be a nice hotel--one which I have stayed at a number of times. Though this is the only hotel in North Haven, I will never stay there again. Save yourself the headache and get a room in Wallingford or New Haven.

« Nice rooms, friendly staff, cold pool and lackluster breakfast »

My family stayed at this hotel in September after a day of fall activities in nearby Middlefield. The hotel was quiet, comfortable and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We were looking for activities to do with our four year old after apple picking and picked this hotel specifically for the indoor pool. Unfortunately the indoor pool was to cool to enjoy. Our son was really cold, and I was able to swim one lap before I got out. The pool also needs a paint job, as the blue paint was peeling in the deep end. We also picked this location for the free breakfast. This also left something to be desired. While there was a good quantity of food, I wouldn't call it quality. The oatmeal was cooking in a crockpot and look like mush, and had a butter wrapper in it the whole time. While I'm sure another guest did this, I would expect it to be removed in the 40+ minutes I was at the hotel. There was also some bugs flying around the seating area. If we were to stay here again, we would probably go out for breakfast.

« Long Term Stay for Work »

I have stayed at this unit for 4 weeks, and find the management and staff very accommodating. Jenn and Heather in the Breakfast area are always pleasant and interested in my needs. Jen in Sales department provided a corporate rate, and the General Manager, Rohit, has addressed my suggestions and requests promptly. Excellent service and a great location for the New Haven / North Haven / Wallingford area.

« What You Need, & At A Decent Price »

I am staying 4 weekends in a row while working at the Connecticut Renaissance Faire, and so far the hotel has met my expectations. It is conveniently located, both to the North Haven Fair Grounds (across the street) and to area restaurants and stores. The rooms have been clean and comfortable and, although the breakfast has something to be desired, it is decent enough. I can easily recommend this hotel!

« We LOVE Best Western Plus, North Haven »

Very clean rooms, VERY comfortable beds. Great staff and service. We were upgraded to a King suite which was beautiful. The property is very close to Quinnipiac University. We will certainly stay there again in the future.

    « Very nice hotel »

When I called for a reservation, front desk worker, Jason, was extremely helpful and a very nice gentleman. He went out of his way to find me a room when the hotel was full. We were there for a baseball tournament and I wanted to stay with my team. I told him my situation and he spoke to a manager and got me a room. Once I got there, I was very happy about the hotel. The room was very clean and modern. It had a huge flat screen TV, ironing board, hair dryer, mini fridge, microwave, and coffee maker. One thing I really liked is the extra outlets and ports for phones on the nightstand beside the beds. I usually carry an extra extension cord for this but I didn't need it this time. The only thing negative thing, and it's only my personal preference and doesn't really interfere with this review, is that our room only had double beds. They were comfortable, but very small. Queen beds are so much more comfortable, to me. We didn't use the pool or gym, so I can't comment on that but we went to the lounge and had a nice time there. The bartender was extremely friendly and helpful. I didn't catch his name but he was great. Included was a free breakfast which was just your basic buffet but it served it's purpose and fed us. I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel.

« Very good for those traveling with dogs »

Very nice room, extremely clean. Even has a little courtyard where I took my dogs. Friendly, courteous staff, quite decent breakfast (and free - can't beat that! Very good value for the price, especially considering other hotels I looked at were asking "non-refundable deposits" for dogs of up to $100 (nonrefundable deposit - yeah, makes no sense).

« Very nice, clean hotel »

Overall, it was a very nice, comfortable stay! I, was there for the Platt High School "50th" class reunion! A good time was had by all!! The room I was in was very clean, and inviting! Good size room, very nice furnishings! The bed was more than comfortable, so I had a very good nights sleep! The shower was really great, nice water pressure! That's kind of important! Jason, the young man at the desk, had the best, greatest customer service! A nice time was had! I would definitely recommend Best Western in North Haven, Connecticut!

    « Overnight Stay for Cousin's Wedding »

Had a one night stay as a part of my cousin's wedding block. Hotel was conveniently located down the street from the wedding venue and provided a shuttle to and from the ceremony/party. The price was set through the hotel for the wedding block and we really enjoyed not having to worry about driving after a fun night with family and friends. The hotel bar staff was great dealing with all of us for our 'after party' once we all got back to the hotel and the complimentary breakfast the next day was great! Exactly what we needed!

« Great place to stay »

We looked at a couple of places to stay when we visited our Grandson @ Yale, and this was our pick. We did not go wrong. Our stay was enjoyable, and the front desk staff went out of their way to assist us in any way that we needed. The second morning, our commode broke and they were up and had it fixed within half an hour. The only draw back was Saturdays breakfast buffet. It was cold, and I mentioned it to the waitress, but nothing was done while we were there. Thankfully, they had a microwave on the serving line.

    « Average Hotel »

Pros: 1. Shuttle service within 10 mile radius 2. supporting staff Cons: 1. Average room quality : Example - Room i stayed had torn linen, toiletries were not kept, the bath towels had some foreign objects, 2. while checking into hotel no one was available at Front desk immediately, 3. Breakfast variety was not adequate, struggled as I'm a vegetarian, 4. room had torn/damaged bath room curtains, 5. loose cables were running below the Table, which was messy, 6. the shower is corroded with rust. 7. Checkout experience was not good either. Only experience that was good was the courteous driver who dropped me to office. By far, this is the first hotel for which I would rate 2-3 in a scale of 1 to 10. (1 is low-bad, 10 is high-good)
