Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn & Suites

Everything was great. Only bad thing is the inconsistent/nonexistent WiFi. The cellular reception in that particular area is awful as well. Even when the WiFi signal was full, there were times the router wasn't connected to the internet, so you were forced to use the also inconsistent/nonexistent cellular service. Everyone there was extremely helpful and nice though, top notch customer service.

The location is great-walk right out to the beach. Room was spacious and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. There were several small maintenance issues which were addressed right away. The kitchenette had a full-size refrigerator with separate freezer compartment. The stove was “tired” looking. We didn't use it. There were no kitchen utensils, pans, plates. Breakfast had good variety and was average quality. Felt it was a good value for the price.

We did have a problem with the Ptac keeping us up all night. It was so loud. We spoke with front desk about it. Maintenance came to our room & Stanley (maintenance man) was right on it. He had to replace the unit, which he did immediately. We were also offered to change rooms if we wanted to. So far our stay has been very pleasant. I wish they had pet friendly rooms with king beds. Clean rooms, friendly and helpful staff.

The room was very clean and roomy. The hotel had a nice looking pool and patio, with direct access onto the beach. Very well decorated with a pretty water fountain of rocks in corner of parking lot. Amenities were great, however I did not see a hair dryer but I always travel with mine so I wasn't looking that hard for one. I had forgotten my make up remover but thankfully the hotel room bathroom had a packet with a make up remover towelette which was a life saver. We would definitely stay there again.

Staff was excellent and helpful. Our stay was very pleasant. The breakfast was good. There is a nice small dog park for walking your dog. All I can say is that we had no problems. Anything we needed was supplied.

My husband and I stayed here a week in total. Our first few nights we had a single king the room was spacious and bed was comfortable, but house keeping doesn't match the quality of service you receive from other employees. There was hair on the back of the door and the shower wasn't cleaned well. We had issues with the outlets on the lights but the ones in the nightstand worked fine. Our second room was a two queen suite with and kitchen. The room itself was great, but the kitchen had zero storage aside from the refrigerator, the stove was extremely dated and only certain burners worked. We received a utensil bin from the desk but ultimately ended up having to buy almost everything to cook because the bin only contained a pot, a pan, a baking sheet, and a serving spoon. Asked house keeping to come in one time during our entire stay and they didn't make either bed, they took all our towels and replaced half, left empty water bottles lined on our tv stand (maybe because I didn't bag them?). The room was clean overall and extremely spacious, if there was added storage it would be great for longer term stays! We had nothing but great experiences with the front desk they were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was actually quite good compared to most best westerns I have stayed at as well. Would stay here again it is the best value for the area.

The staff here are exceptional! They were always very friendly and polite. Check in was simple. Our room was clean and spacious. Nice view of tunnel/bridge. Easy access to the beach. Breakfast was wonderful. There was something different for each of us.

Quiet and comfortable stay -- the staff is friendly, helpful, and courteous. The room was large and had all the necessities. The bed and bedding was clean and comfortable. A short walk down the sidewalk to arrive at the beach. There are chairs on the patio to enjoy the ocean air.

I loved this room and wasn't expecting a view of the ocean from the kitchen! Made for a perfect overnight vacation. Everything was clean and staff/customer service was excellent. Only suggestions I have are 1) warmer blankets for winter stays 2) softer lighting (I find LED lamps very harsh)

Stayed for three nights. staff was friendly , helpful and professional. room was clean. We loved the view of the bay from our balcony room. Although it was too cold to sit on the balcony. breakfast was good, and gave us family time.

Great location, slept well. Room was updated but needs carpeting replaced. Didn't eat breakfast Or use gym. Directly on the the beach. Staff at checkin and out very friendly and easy to do. Would stay again.

City view rooms surround a parking lot that is well lit and seems secure. Ocean side rooms have a nice view of the bay but consider how easy it is to walk out to the beach. There's a nice dog park but again the beach access is good. The room was comfortable and acceptable for a beach hotel. Bathroom, for us the critical factor when assessing lodging, was acceptable clean. Breakfast is typical American fare, i.e. filling though it could be healthier.

Room smelled like an attempt had been made to cover up urine/musty smell, unsuccessfully. Bathroom didn't seem clean, we killed a roach, the cleaning crew changed towels and emptied garbage but didn't really clean the bathroom at all, barely made the bed. The floor in the room felt dirty and if we walked on our bare feet, it was dirty.

We arrived on Thursday, September 21st, 2023. My daughter checked in and requested an additional night stay until Monday, September 25th. They were gracious and able to do so. Upon my arrival at the room, I noticed how very outdated the rooms were. We had a room with an ocean view, those particular rooms in that section of the hotel, they call it the tower, do have an ocean view but are not what you really expect. There is a heavy solid door that goes to the balcony. The window is over the air conditioner, so you are not able to sit by the window and enjoy the view either. The carpet in the room was dirty, not that it wasn't vacuumed but it needs a really good shampoo and steam cleaning. You could feel the “grime” on the bottom of your feet. The TV remote didn't even work right. The pull-out couch was horrid. It looks like it is from the 80's with grime mostly along the back and the arm rests. Upon pulling out the pull-out bed there was mold as soon as you took off the cushions and black mold on the bottom of the mattress. After flipping over the mattress there was a “fitted” like sheet on it that had stains all over it, had hair and debris all over it, and smelled. I went to the front desk and told the front desk clerk about it. She did not seem concerned at all and looked like it was normal. She said she would have it removed by maintenance in the morning but there was nothing that she could do about it because it was nighttime. I asked if they had extra sheets, or a comforter and she said no. So, we ended up staying in a room with mold. The next day I ended up purchasing an air bed and bedding set. That evening when we arrived in our room the carpet was saturated from the air conditioner leaking into the room. I went down to the front desk and once again the desk clerk's reaction was of one that is used to getting this complaint. She tried to explain to me that it was from the storm and the direction of the wind blowing is right into the balcony and air conditioner. After explaining to her about the night before and the bed with the mold and now I can't even use the blow-up airbed because the floor is saturated, she finally caved and decided to put us in another room. However, she only moved us to a room on the same floor just two doors down. Being exhausted and having to move our things from one room to another in the rain, I just agreed. This room was in the same condition as the one we were in with the addition of the inside of the bathtub pealing and not draining, and water spurting through the bottom of the balcony door. By this point we are exhausted. It is after midnight. I gave up. When I went to check out, I expressed my concerns to the desk clerk and maintenance was there also. I told her how the night clerk tried to blame the water issues on the storm and that I know better. That they do not have the air conditioning unit drained right. I also told them how to fix that issue. I also explained my experience with the other night clerks and how unimpressed I am. She apologized for it all and said that she would have moved us into another room the first night and not charged us. With that I wonder why did she not at least give us a discount? When I was on my way over to check out, I noticed all the shop vacs and the dehumidifies that they had out in view. That tells me that they are used to this issue and the complaints. That also tells me that the owner of this hotel does not care. Instead of putting a “band aid” on these issues they need to be fixed. In the end if you fix the problems, they will cost you less in materials and labor. None of what we experienced at this hotel is Best Western Plus standard. They should be ashamed. I would expect these conditions at a low grade $45 a night motel. Upon further reading and research… When someone writes a review that is below average, they mostly respond with on how they are sorry and that they would like to know more and they will use the review for training purposes or they respond with defensive position. Please. Just tell the owner to fix the building and upgrade the rooms.

That hotel isn't ANYWHERE CLOSE to Best Western standards!! 1st off as soon as we walked into the room we looked down at the floor, which was some kind of tile, was FILTHY!! NOT just dirty, it was NASTY FILTHY!! Looked like it hadn't been clean in weeks!! We got there late and my wife and I were tired as heck so we just went straight to bed. Which was like laying on cement, it was so frickn hard it was unreal!! On the bed all they had were a sheet a very thin, couldn't even call it a bedspread, cover. Along with 4 kid sized pillows!! When we got up the next morning I went to take a shower and noticed FRICKN band-aid stuck on the seat of the shower!!! It was a handicapped room thus the seat. I couldn't believe it! The cleaning standards at this place needs some SERIOUS UPGRADING!! So after that we went to breakfast which was half ass to speak. There wasn't any decaf coffee made so I asked the lady working there if she would mind making some. It was if I asked her for her 1st born child!! The look on her face and attitude were something else! Btw... the coffee tasted terrible also. We stayed there from September 15th to the 18th. A couple more things about the room. There were several streaks of unknown substances that definitely wasn't paint, I'm guessing some type of body fluid which was pretty gross to look at. There were big roaches that we found dead the 1st morning there also. So on the 1st morning there we walked through the lobby and asked the lady at the front desk where was the breakfast room. 1st off when we were approaching the front desk she had her head resting in her hand which was propped up on the desk and remained there the whole time. As if to project the " I don't have time for you" look. I asked her where the breakfast room was and she said, without moving a muscle, oh it's across the way. Too lazy to even sit up and greet customers gezzz. So moving on to the 18th. We packed up our truck and went across to the next building ..to be cont Ok I guess part 2 here. So we took the ice bucket from the room the get ice for our cooler. After ifilled it up I went back to the room to return bucket and it wouldn't let me in. So I went to the front desk to return to them. I told a lady who wore glasses that I couldn't get back in to our room so instead of saying, that's ok we'll take care of it, she re programmed my key and gave me the buck back!! UNREAL!! So instead of making a big stink about it in the lobby where other customers were IGood morning Crystal. Thank you for getting back to me. Yes we were very disappointed in our stay there. We just stayed at a Best Western in St. Mary's, GA last weekend. It was like night and day, the difference between yours and there's. Which I gave them a Great review. I'd like the owner to read my review and would welcome their reply also.

A nice alternative to the crowded conditions elsewhere. Great views, nice beach, friendly staff, and good breakfast. Pet friendly. Good eateries and grocery stores nearby. Close to many attractions such as VA Beach and Azelia Gardens.

We found this motel to our liking, even with the loud Labor Day crowd. Room was very big, comfortable, and quiet. Really good wifi. Close to parks and little free libraries. Access right to the Atlantic Ocean. Nice to watch a sunrise.

I took my 2 sons to this place cause it was right in front of the beach. Our experience here was awful! The 1st night our sheets had human poop on them, the carpet was not vacuumed and the floors was dirty! I went to front desk and spoke to 1 staff and she said said the cleaners was gone for the evening and they would would change the sheets out next morning. I showed her pictures of the damages done so I wouldn't get charged for them when he left from our stay. She was not interested in the pictures said she had them documented. The AC vent was broken and the tub got clogged and won't drain. The 2 nd day I went back to the front desk and spoke to another staff and told her about the sheets and everything and she said she would send the cleaning crew right up! Me & Boys went about our day shopping and went out to eat and came back and the sheets was changed but there was human blood on them this time! I went straight down and asked to speak to a manager! The manager said she was sorry but she couldn't believe it! So of course I showed her pictures and asked for her to come to the room and see for herself that me and the kids just got back! They have cameras and I'm sure they see the time we left and returned. She said she would discount my stay which wasn't much! In my opinion she should off gave my full refund back! The elevator broke down on a daily basis! Our tub got clogged 2 times. The cleaning crew was outside and I ended up vacuuming the room swept and scubbed the floors. Went to Walmart and got disinfectant and disinfectant everything. The room was way cleaner and sanitized when I left then when we got there. The Breakfast was good other then there's not much room to seat and the crew over the breakfast said several times to everyone that if you are done they need to exit so others can eat. I'm very disappointed in this hotel considering what you pay for 1 night stay! The cost for 1 night is not worth it at all! The only thing good about it is there beach is right in front of the hotel walking right onto the beach.! The out side of the Beds was stained and nasty as well! See pictures below! Wish I had the owners name and phone number because I'm sure they won't let this fly and they would of fixed our stay!! We ended up leaving early & the manager said she wouldn't hold it against me and she would refund my money but that didn't happen either!! I've stayed in many places and this was by far the worst of them all!

The beach access was so comfortable. It was like beach @ backyard. Rooms were spacious and neat . Staffs were friendly. Good restaurants near by . Pool was good and was warm even at 9 pm at night . Highly recommended.

Great staff, free breakfast, convenience of pool and beach within feet of building. Handicap rooms are nice, upgrading facilities regularly to make it worth the money. I've stayed here several times over the past 5 years and enjoy it every time.

The room was very clean. And the Front Office Attendants and Housekeeping Staff were very accommodating. But the elevator was sometimes broken and we had to walk up to the forth floor a couple of times. The pool was kept very clean. And the Breakfast food and Staff were great.

An older hotel, well kept, and in a quiet neighborhood location. Our room was clean and comfortable (new mattress) and the housekeeping will or will not make up your room, it's up to you. This hotel has its own direct access to the beach, which is great. They also have a pool, but I prefer the salt water and waves. Breakfast is included but I wasn't excited about the quality of the selections, but it is included. Enjoy, Gene H.

For our annual family vacation we regret about choosing this hotel. When we arrived the staff was friendly however as soon as we checked in to our rooms we found them to be disgusting and dingy. The rooms were so bad that my wife did not want our baby to crawl on the carpets. Everything about this hotel was horrible. We immediately tried to check out and change hotels however we were told that there was a 72 hour cancellation policy and would be charged the whole amount. The only positive was the hotel pool was decent and the kids enjoyed swimming. I recommend spending a little more money for a different hotel.

The room was very nice and clean. The pillows were extremely fluffy. The receptionist (all of them) were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was always delicious. I didn't like the fact the elevator broke down 2 days in a row. But things happen. I just didn't like climbing 5 flights of stairs, LOL. I really enjoyed being there anyway.

Dirty all around, elevator out of service for a day, some of the staff were super friendly and wonderful but there was a select few that were very rude and not helpful at all. The breakfast is really good though.

Great place to stay while at the beach very clean spacious rooms.private beach access.and very very dog friendly i highly recommend this hotel. Has a fenced off area for dogs. Breakfast is included staff so professional and helpful.

orderd a room back in feb get to our spot in august didn't give us what we had ordered my daughters room was never cleaned sand in the bed had to change the sheets our self and her stove was dirty as well and had to cleaned that as well

Had a great stay! Nice kitchenette as well a BBQ grills and large outdoor patio for sitting and eating with family/friends. Nice pool, larger than expected and clean, open late and there were lots of kids playing and swimming, without feeling cramped. Right on the beach so easy walk with kids. Friendly staff with a nice simple breakfast included. People left out towels/chairs to dry and no one messed with them. Definitely a casual beachy environment. Looks a bit rundown by area, but the room was nice, with a great layout and everything seemed very clean and in working order. A friend and I met there with our kids and they all had a blast playing, without people judging if they were loud or just being kids. The area has amenities close by, including casual dining, gas, shops, but it is not the main Oceanfront Beach area with a board walk...walking/bike path. That area is not far (20min) but in Oceanview bike riding/walking will be on the street, or in sand along water. Personally I like the less crowded area with big beautiful view. Will definitely stay again if the opportunity arises.

Hotel is right on the beach along with the pool. Several restaurants nearby. Beach area was awesome and the pool was clean. The mattress was horrible like sleeping on metal wire. Blankets are super thin.

The front desk agent they were profound and the manager their professionalism there's no word to every describe them I was more than please and comfortable I would definitely recommend others to stay at best western hotel not because I'm an employee of best western but due to our outstanding work ethic and professionalism in providing the best customer service in the hotel industry

Great breakfast layout includes waffles,pancakes, sausage,eggs, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt and various juices/coffee. Kristina works tirelessly to make sure everyone is taken care of when they come for breakfast in the mornings. We've been coming here for years and my kids look forward to seeing her each year! Front office staff was polite. Housekeeping staff is very helpful and accomodating. Grounds are clean, well-kept and fairly quiet.

This is a great property. You are right on the beach. Just walk out and you are there no driving. Great views from the room. Breakfast is great with lots of choices. Staff is very friendly and helpful.

I got a Two Queen sweet and it was the best room for the beach. The beds were separated by rooms so myself and my friend had personal space. The hotel text me letting me know my room was ready, followed up with me to make sure everything was good and so I had open communication with the hotel. The view was amazing. The employees were so friendly and went above and beyond. I had no issues with my service animal, especially because the hotel is pet friendly anyway. This was a great price for being right on the beach. It is close to VA Beach, but is more local so not over crowded and more tranquil. I would highly recommend.

The Best Western Plus is our new favorite hotel. The pool & the beach are just a few hundred feet away my husband & I are in our 70's so it's so nice not to have to walk a 1/4 of a mile to the beach. No need for a car. The room has a great kitchen full size refrigerator, oven,& stove microwave also. The shower has great water pressure & hot water The room was clean & good size. I thought the bed was hard but my husband thought it was good. Many channels on the tv. The room is sound proof, staff helpful & friendly. The pool is a good size & clean. They also have grills outside to cook on. Everyone seemed like they were having a great time. The only negative is the internet which is very spotty. The hotel is close to everything that Norfolk has to offer which is a lot.

Well run facility with very dedicated staff. Polite/professional and courteous are the words I would use to describe this team. We were greeted by Van when we arrived and our room was ready 2 hours early.The free breakfast provided is as good or better than anything I have had in a restaurant in my 71 years on this earth.If you are a beach person you could not ask for easier/close access.....a very clean pool is also onsite.I have already made reservations for next July and looking forward to it....Thanx again to the staff/team for making our stay so enjoyable.

When I check in my bathroom had hair and sand in tub toilet and on floor the carpet had food on it housemen help me clean.i was told 15% off stay then when I check out recieved a receipt that make no sense I never received my copy of the receipt to my email like I ask for the front desk lady savanna argue with about my discount this place was so unorganized and it was the worst stay ever in a hotel

Overall we were satisfied with our stay. The location is convenient and safe with access to a nice little beach with great sunrise and sunset views. The staff was very friendly, the beds were comfortable and the AC was cold. The pool looked clean and refreshing although we didn't have the opportunity to use it. The room wasn't necessarily dirty but it did have a dark and dingy vibe...I would say this is just due to the humidity and the fact that it's right on the bay. The breakfast left a lot to be desired and our only real disappointment. It was well below average compared to many other hotel breakfasts we've had. We chose to eat out instead. BUT, I would still stay here again because I think you still get a good value for your money. Just manage your expectations....this is probably a very typical budget beach hotel and not a 5 star directly on VA Beach. We enjoyed the clean beach area and the views were beautiful. Also as mentioned we didn't use the pool but the whole patio behind the hotel and before the beach access was clean and looked like an area I would have liked to hang out in.

My room was perfectly located it was so nice waking up to a view of the ocean I think that was the best part for me and being able to just walk to the ocean thank you so much for entertaining us can hardly wait to get back again

The room was just fine, and I was there for 2 nights. I had a double Queen, with a small kitchen in the back, and there was a window (which couldn't be opened) on the back side that looked out at the Bay. The breakfast was OK, and they ran out of coffee before 10am the first morning.

They are doing the very best they can with the building they have and with the natural location I. e. salt air and sand The staff is polite and receptive and competent. I will write more when I have a better keyboard

This hotel may be an older property, but the staff make sure you have everything you may need. It's clean, breakfast is hot, and everyone is very accommodating. This was the 2nd time we stayed here and we would definitely do it again!

The Staff always ensured room services and amenities were available and provided upon request, no questions asked. Staff always asked if I needed anything and always so attentive with my requests. My long tay here was unbelievable and I have met other guest that came back because it was just so welcoming.

Your staff was awesome and done everything we needed couldn't ask nicer people than what they gave us room was very clean and we had all the admintative we needed I have stayed here for months since working in the Norfolk area and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Get what you pay for. You know you're in a rough end of town when the last checking you in has a black eye. Otherwise, check in was fast. The room while large was spartan and antiquated. Mattress quality below average and pillows were horrible. Very cold over night no blanket just a sheet. Clean. Price is right.

We stayed here on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The hotel is wonderfully situated right on the beach. The people who work here are very kind and professional and helpful and a pleasure to deal with. Our room was spotless and smelled like fresh air. The breakfast is great. I love the waffle machine and the link sausages. The price is unbeatable. And having a full kitchenette makes this place paradise. We're even able to prepare food an entertain a few friends without having to go to restaurants. The price is unbeatable. Thank you!

Unfortunately, on the 24th, the connection to Wi-Fi was lost, and not only with us. Wi-Fi works in a smaller area of the building. Staff didn't know how to fix this problem. I requested to connect with a specialist and receptionist gave me phone number of “Internet help line”. But the agent was unprofessional and couldn't help. So, we couldn't use the Internet for more than 24 hours.

Excellent value! The room is very clean, with kitchen and breakfast included. The water view rooms were taken but we still had a small window to see the beach and water. It was just steps away from the sand with lounge chairs and pool (closed for the winter). I will stay again!

I wish I could give a zero star. I got there was told I could not have the room I reserved due to damage. I paid over $150 for a room that was a $80 room. I ask for a difference in price refund they gave me $13 dollars. The ice machine was rusty, the bath tub would not drain well. The water was ankle deep by the time I was done with my shower The only veiq I had was of the parking lot but paid for a Oceanview. They said they called and when I told them I didn't get a call I was basically told I was a lier. Does this look like a room you would pay $152 for?

I had amazing weather for November (in the 70s). I imagined how great this location would be in the summer. On the beach, with a pool, a kitchenette. Would highly recommend for a friends trip or family vacation

I've been visiting this hotel on and off for a year and a half now. I only had one issue that was resolved (elevator malfunction with a disabled 5 year old). Tabatha in the office is amazing! She can handle 20 things at once and not show the stress! This girl needs and DESERVES a raise! She goes above and beyond to make sure ALL guests are happy! We love the 2 queen bed suites so the kids have a room and grown ups have a private room. Wish the bathroom wasn't in the “private room” for this reason but that's minor! The hotel is a little older but they are starting renovations now and I can't wait to see what that looks like when they are done. Everyone is friendly. The head housekeeper (I'm sorry I forgot name) was wonderful this trip and even though we didn't need anything in our room she came herself to take care of a minor issue in my FIL's room. They are dog friendly which is great bc FIL comes from upper NY just to see us and be able to bring his dog on the beach for walks! She loves it and she's 12 years old! If there is an issue with the room they have someone there within minutes to look at and fix the issue. Being right on the beach is amazing and my 8 year old runs and flips around on the beach and before bedtime she is already knocked out. They serve a hot breakfast every morning included in your stay! I'm not a breakfast person but everyone in our party of 7 enjoyed breakfast every morning and Charly (the dog) enjoyed my breakfast! There is a dog run that's always kept clean, lots of outdoor room with tables to enjoy outside and an outdoor pool in the summertime. They are also renovating and fixing the pool at this time! I don't like the $100 deposit in case something is broken but do understand. It just takes 2-3 weeks for my bank to reissue that to me. Other than some very MINOR things listed I highly recommend this hotel for a getaway or to be closer to CHKD so you don't have to fight tunnel traffic or get up so early for us to drive there. The beach is the MAJOR plus, always clean, along with the sweet people that run the hotel and always ask if we need anything when they see us! And ALWAYS with smiles! Especially Tabitha and the head housekeeper! Tabatha has ALWAYS been ready to jump in and help! Even offering to help me get my stuff up the steps while I carried my 5 year old when there was a minor issue with the elevator a different stay! You have a STRONG and hard worker in Tabatha and I keep coming back because of her. She goes above and beyond to make things right! And never complains. I have tried a couple different hotels in the same area and they were dirty, filthy even. I can honestly say I am comfortable laying my disabled 5 yr old boy in the bed there knowing they are clean. Thank you Tabatha for always making sure me and my family are taken care of. Wether just me and him or all of us, you make it feel like our home away from home!

The food was cold, the rooms (i.e., lobby, guest room, & dining room) were filthy and smelly. The staff was kind, but that's all it had going for it. Do not be fooled by its location and be weary of its hefty price. You are better off sleeping on the streets than paying for one of the rooms. It'll be cleaner, that's for sure. This was my first experience with a Best Western & my last.

We enjoy this beachfront hotel. I feel safe staying here as a single mom. My children love how close it is to the beach. Nice to have breakfast included. Most of the staff are friendly and very helpful.

The building is obviously older but the current owners are doing the right things to make the best of a wonderful location. I would rate the staff as 5 - couldn't have been nicer or more welcoming. I would rate the room a 3.5 because it was a little dated, and the door was difficult to open/close. I never could get the TV to work but that is not important to us. The location is also a 5. I wish it had been warmer (we visited in October) so we could have spent more time on the beach.

Hotel is terrible and staff are struggling. There are two hidden gems that I want to highlight. Que and Emily were so nice and willing to make it right for customers. The rest of my interactions were disappointing.

Quite and peaceful. Beach was clean and calm. Hotel was clean/clean sheets, ocean view with balcony definitely worth it. There was swimming pool construction that interfere our stay. Definitely risky to travel in September. First two days was cold and cold to swim but once temperature went up we had a great time. Beach was perfect and not too hot for walking.

Our stay at the Best Western in Ocean View was great. Tabitha went above and beyond to make sure our check in was easy and that our stay was comfortable. We could not have asked for better service, she was awesome!! Thank you Tabitha!

Staff were so courteous and helpful. Location is perfect to enjoy beach weather. Dog friendly hotel that maintains grounds. Great variety of breakfast. Beds are a bit uncomfortable if you prefer a softer mattress.

I will never return to this hotel. I was quoted one low price per night when I booked this hotel directly through Best Western but at checkout was charged hundreds more at a higher daily rate. The General Manager Kaitlyn then failed to resolve my billing when she refused to follow up on my initial call and then hung up on me when I called her back. She left me no option but to dispute the bill through my credit card company. The floor was filthy and turned my white socks black - I couldn't go barefoot. The internet repeatedly did not work. I would have overlooked these inconveniences had the staff resolved my billing without the added difficulties.

This was a quality place to stay, with a very nice breakfast selection, including eggs & sausage, and was kept well stocked. Pool was good temperature and beach was kept combed of seaweed - very nice for kids to play.

At checking we had been assigned a pet friendly room by mistake. Clerk was very nice and willing to give us another room. Everything was good, except the floors were dirty. But with a hotel being right on the beach it would probably be hard to keep clean. Pool was very nice and clean. Good views. Nice location, private beach.

After a hard day of leaning it was great to relax on my private balcony with a cool drink. My room was fresh, clean and well appointed. The breakfast from 6am-10 am had great selections both hot and cold. Lula C was the person who checked me in and she was absolutely fantastic. I will happily stay here again when I'm in The Norfolk area!

Very clean nice room. Beautiful view of the bay. The check in staff put us in a beautiful when we did not bring our pet( we had booked a pet friendly room) to save our original room for a traveler that might show up with a pet.

We really enjoyed our stay at Best Western, Norfolk VA, great room 227 with ocean view and enough space for family of 6. We liked new updates chairs and bedside tables.. What we suggest is to add some shelves to the kitchen to keep kichen Utensils and food. And carpet, needs to be changed or washed really really good because some rooms has that " very unpleasant smell". Overall breakfast, pool, hotel and beach is great!

Nice location on the beach. Very old building, shabby, needs lot of maintenance om the main building. lots of following issues with service. No towels provided after two requests and promises. Finally, Got our towels Next day afternoon after we returned our old towels to the reception. Night shift lady didn't ask to bring the old towels, day shift lady did (Rude). Room cleaning doesn't happen everyday, we requested room cleaning after staying for two days and was told, no cleaning today, have to wait until tomorrow. Internet password changed without notification. Building is falling down and supported by eyebeams. Facility can be kept cleaner. Couldn't combine two reservations into one, after saying I am all good. I had to check in again for the next reservation. Night staff and day stuff don't communicate.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The room was not worth $300/night. They did not clean the room. The hot breakfast was simply awful: the scrambled eggs tasted like paper and the butter was not real butter. The breakfast room had flys landing on the food.

We greatly enjoyed our stay and really loved how close it was to the beach! Will definitely stay again in the future! This place is great if you want a quiet relaxing trip, and is just a short drive to the main strip in Va Beach!

Dirty room, no cots, sand in shower and on floor mildew stains coming through on ceiling, bed sheets smelled, elevators dirty, nobody at front desk and doors locked upon check in took 45 min. Very terrible for a family

Nice quiet beach stay! Love that it's dog friendly! Floors could be cleaner. But no complaints otherwise. Nice private beach. Enjoyed being able to take our pups on the beach. Really nice pool on oceanfront and run for dogs all fenced in!

We enjoyed everything about our trip. The room was clean. The beds were a little stiff. But the view from our balcony was amazing! Most the staff was great except the girl working the front desk. * Emily..you were a little rude! But this was our 3rd visit to Best Westren Ocean view and we love it every year! Until next year! :)

It was an awesome experience. The lady behind the counter was very helpful. She worked really hard to find me room. She was very friendly and professional. The room was very clean and neat. And I was right at the beach. My overall experience was relaxing and stress free. I will definitively be returning.

The hotel was unexpectedly nice. I lived in Hampton Roads years ago and avoided Oceanview as it wasn't super safe. The facility is close to the Navy base, clean & well equipped. Only down side is the lack of restaurants in the immediate area. The kitchenette in the room was a pleasant surprise, but not very useful since no pots or pans were available.

Fine place to stay for a few nights on the beach, with a beach view. Nothing fancy. If you have a pet, it's perfect. Fenced in area for dogs. Lots of places close by to eat with lots of seafood choices. Quite little beach town.

Can not say enough good things about this hotel. Lula the manager is both courteous and professional. As the manager, she was extremely helpful with our check in process though Expedia had made a huge error with our booking. The hotel staff is friendly and welcoming. Crystal, a staff member in the breakfast room was both delightful and diligent in making sure breakfast was well stocked, organized and clean. Pool was clean, room was clean and well stocked with towels/amenities. Wonderful access to beach. Btw, the sweet tea in the lobby is a blessing on a hot day.

The worst experience ever. Booked online 3 months prior to trip, pat friendly. Messaged them as well, to make sure they got it right that we will come with a dog. Got there and they told me that they don't have a room with a pets. I told them that I have a two kids and dog sitting in the car waiting... They said, well will call you when room is ready. In stead waiting in the car I took family to grocery shopping. During that time I got message from booking service that hotel contact them and canceled my reservation. I called hotel and they said - sorry we don't have a room for pets. Asked them what I suppose to do now, two kids in the car and dog and I don't have a place to stay. Response sorry and they just hand up on me. Definitely going to this post to every social media! They didn't care about kids or animal. I'm thinking to hire lawyers, because they put in danger two kids and animal. Sounds like it's discrimination because I'm Ukrainian. And yes, I'm American sitizen. I'm going to let law to make a right decision.

Great Ocean view room with a low traffic clean beach and great pool. Extra benefit is seeing dolphins. All the calm of a beach house you could want. Rooms need updating and breakfast has waffles and eggs but is average

We stayed here from July 5th to the 9th. What a great stay. Conveniently located by the Chesapeake Bay with beach access from hotel. Comfortable rooms with air conditioning. We had a small kitchenette. But didn't used except coffee machine and fridge. Which worked well. Nice pool on site. Which was really nice to cool off. Breakfast available and was delicious. Decent selections of breakfast items and free with stay. Patio area with lounge chairs to relax and enjoy. Grills on site to use.Only problem we had with TV, but staff was quick to respond and helpful. Also very convenient to downtown, Virginia Beach and Hampton. Definitely would recommend.

Nice property in a secluded location. Nothing to do in the area but the privacy is nice. There is no bathroom on main level. Breakfast room is too small but well attended. It is difficult to get ice..the machine was always empty.

Worth the stay, great value for your money we will stay here again. Staff was excellent, breakfast was good and loved the beach.My family really enjoyed the visit here and we will be back next year. Had a great time

This hotel was a mixed bag really. Upon arrival the parking lot, lobby and run down apartments across the street were a turn off. Parking and lobby were atrociously dirty. I mean spills dried up and mud everywhere. I was trying to save a few bucks and not stay in Virginia Beach on the strip. This was far enough away from the chaos there but felt run down. The one staff at the reception desk was excellent. She was a natural for the hospitality industry and needs a raise. She was obviously overwhelmed, overworked and alone but, never let out a sigh. The elevator was literally falling apart with trim hanging and mud and spills on the floor. Then we got to the room. It was clean. It had beat up, run down doors and the sink was cracking and the shower had lots of discoloration on the floor and some mold in the seams but the room was clean. It had an amazing view. My husband had to clean the window so we could see our but it was a great view. Breakfast was not as seen in the hotel pictures. Bottom line, I would not stay again, would not recommend

From my interaction with Van via phone and the front desk attendants in person, they were all very knowledgeable and helpful. Van in particular was able fulfill all requests made regarding me and my family's stay. The hotel rooms were ok, but the best part of the hotel is the excellent location. The beach is just steps away from the hotel and is great for everyone as the waves are small and water is calm. My only suggestion would be to have an early check in option as my family had to wait for their rooms to be cleaned. Thank you Best Western team for making our stay enjoyable and hassle free.

Good hotel to be by the Chesapeake Bay. Ensure you get the room you reserved. Disappointed in room. Had reserved a room with a separate bedroom. The carpet in the room needed commercial cleaning and the kitchen counter replaced.

What a wonderful crew. They were ALWAYS cleaning. I especially loved the one lady dancing and singing while cleaning a room. i didn't catch her name and I think I know who it is. But you just don't see that much and I travel a lot. Also good breakfast.

We had a great experience with this hotel. The staff at the front desk were friendly. Our room was clean. The ladies cleaning and stocking for the continental breakfast, made us feel at home. They were so nice and worked non-stop keeping the place clean and the food stocked.

Two nights here. Great location, friendly responsive service. Room clean, spacious but very dated. Self service breakfast offering was really poor quality. Dishwater coffee, Rubber eggs and watery sausage party are not good. We went to the Ocean View Diner, a five minute drive away. Much better!

Room with NO view despite facing the beach; terrible musty odor in the room; bathroom floor tile cracked; mat in tub visibly stained; a 'clean' towel visibly stained; bed VERY firm. While this was convenient, at $200 per night off season, I would've expected to see the beach. Also, the floor between rooms had spots where it felt sunk in, which was wierd.

Good location and right on the beach, but room was not up to standards. Room was large, but beds were average at best. Maintenence was lacking on AC and doors and other items in general. Cleanliness was decent but not exceptional.

The room was bigger than expected which was good. There were no sheets for the couch bed, the water pressure was low for the shower and the covering for the couch bed was dirty. The front staff was friendly and the whole process was simple. I would give it another try.

Best of both worlds... This hotel was only 15-20 minutes from Old Dominion campus. Had a balcony facing the water. Able to walk on the beach and then go visit my daughter on campus. Perfect spot for a short visit. This is not a high end hotel so expectations must be set ahead of time but room was clean, bed was comfortable and hotel staff were extremely friendly.

Good location, good price, good breakfast, good staff, good stay overall. We stayed for 2 nights, the room was fine. The kitchen window was on the beach, we could see beautiful view from the room. It would be better if the kitchen window curtain could be thicker, then the sunlight would not wake us up at 7am.

The room we had actually was fantastic, I have never stayed at any hotel in which I didn't hear noises and doors slamming and people and tvs through the walls, I must say i heard nothing, this truly was the most peaceful stay I have ever had, Thank you so much, not to mention the ladies at the desk were the absolute sweetest❤Most definitely will stay again❤

Our room smelled very bad and looked nothing like the online photos. The "kitchen" was a joke. During the night, we had people walking outside our back window, which we heard because the windows are very thin and old. Also, we learned at check-in that they don't allow cats even though the website says they are pet friendly.

Everything was great. The girls at the front desk were extremely nice and very helpful. Always checking on us. The breakfast was great and the girls there were very friendly and helpful. Housekeeping were great also. The weather could have been better but that's how it goes sometimes

We have spent 16 days in the hotel. The hotel was loud and noise during the weekends. Location is good if you appreciate the beach but don't expect any comfort or service. Unfortunately the breakfast room was closed the whole time and breakfast "to go" was offered which was fine once or twice but not for 16 days. No room service was available the first 12 days due to the lack on staff. Towels and toilet paper had to be picked up at the reception by ourselves. Room cleaning was provided after we complained several times at the reception at the end of our stay. We received an phone call in the hotel room and have been offered an discount do to the circumstances. I also received an invoice at the check-out which was 30% lower than the price I had originally paid. Back home I contacted the hotel and booking agency but they rejected any refund. NEVER AGAIN

The purpose of this trip was to visit a friend dying of ALS. I have been making these trips and staying at Best Western Holiday Sands Inn and Suites usually 2 nights nearly every month since April 2021. While I have enjoyed many stays there this time was an exception. I have seen upgrades to the furnishings but not the structure of the hotel which is beginning to concern me.

The hotel was nice it could have been better. But the price was great. The beds were very comfortable the space was a little smaller than other place I stayed but we were comfortable. It served the purpose.

The check-in staff was very friendly and the texts that were sent regarding your stay were a first-time experience for me and a very nice touch! The rooms could probably use a good deep clean, but the sheets and surfaces were clean and a great value for the price point. I had a wonderful time walking on the beach and soaking in the sounds of the waves.

This is a great spot to vacation in the summer. The $30 dog charge is excessive, I could see $10. Lula Code at the front desk was so helpful with information about the hotel and where to go eat. Yes I would return for a summer vacation.

Nice accommodating room right on the beach. The only issue we had was the laminate floor was not mopped. The free breakfast was great! Enjoyed the waterfall fountain as well. Watching swimming dolphins from the beach was a plus.

I came to honor my father's last request for a navy burial at sea. Since I live in NY I choose Virginia as the final destination. I'm glad I did. It was nice remembering the walks on the beach with my dad when I was younger. The room we received was large and perfect for what we needed. Your morning breakfast nook was warm and cozy. Christina and Paulette made us feel welcome and at home. If I am ever in the Norfork area again, this is the 1st place I would call. Staff are so helpful and nice! Julia, Lula, and Kailyn from the office. We had a bit if a mix up but they were quick to help and got us setteled in. Christina and Paulette were so delightful in the morning. The kitchen/breakfast area was so clean!!!! They even suggested things to see in the area. Our rooms were clean and well kept. (The beds could have been a but more comfortable, but for the price and access to the beach, well worth over looking) Our housekeeper stopped each day to see if we needed anything. I didn't get her name but she was so kind and helpful. I think our dog enjoyed the stay just as much as we did. We will be back!

Very accommodating staff and ensured a great stay for us while we were passing through. Great location too if it was summer time as it was directly beach front. Also location provides easy access to tunnel if you wanted to get to Hampton area and really close to downtown Norfolk - central to both.

Bed hard as a rock, only sheets no blankets, dysfunctional televisions, thin walls. Worst place to stay after driving for hours. Neither my husband nor I slept a wink. The staff was lovely, however, and our dog happily scampered on the beach. But we could not leave fast enough.

My husband and I travel a lot. We booked this hotel based on location to activities we planned to do in the area. We were very pleased with our accommodations. Even before arrival we received text messages, which is rare but great. We arrived after 6pm and was greeted immediately by Kathy. She was so helpful The property was very clean. Our room comfortable. We did have an issue with the hvac and reported it the following morning. Within an hour of reporting it, maintenance. Sherry and Dante had the problem resolved. The breakfast attendant kept everything well stocked and sanitized. The food was good. Every staff member we interacted with was. pleasant and helpful. We will be recommending this location to those who ask where to stay in Norfolk.

I have stayed twice now. 2 different rooms. Both stays were great! The staff is very friendly and happy to help in any way. The rooms have both been clean and ready on time each visit. I adopted my disabled nephew and his sister and we have to spend a lot of time at CHKD. The first time we stayed it was a little weekend get away for me and the kids and we went to the aquarium and walked the beach. The suite was well priced and decently big. We had room to move around and could even cook in the suite. The 2nd time we stayed is bc the Ronald McDonald house was full and I needed to be on that side of the water super early for a very early test and all day visit at CHKD. The girls in the office have all been very kind and go out of their way to make sure we are comfortable and have everything we need. Offering to help with whatever they can! They are always smiling and very attentive. It's very important with my little mans needs that we stay in a clean room and both times I have not been disappointed. We live in Lightfoot/Croaker (James city county) on the other side of Williamsburg and ALWAYS get stuck in tunnel traffic so it's nice to have a place close to CHKD but also with the beautiful view of the water and a private beach area. They do also accept dogs in certain rooms if you let them know in advance and have a beautiful fenced in dog run. I made the mistake the first time of staying at the super 8 and I will just say, disgusting! They are supposed to be a whyndam resort and there was NOTHING good about that place. Bugs crawling all over the room, I turned a white rag black by just cleaning the counter tops and cigarette burns on the tub. They wouldn't let me have my money back to go someplace else but I did get 25% back eventually. Best Western has been a life saver for me and my disabled boy. It's nice to drive 20 minutes to CHKD rather than an hour drive taking 2.5 hrs and having to get my boy up at 2am for testing. We will be back in December for a surgery for my boy, if not before then! We have found our “home away from home” as my little man calls it! Very very happy there! Recommend it to everyone! Thank you all the ladies in the office that have helped me keep my boy comfortable during all of this! He is almost caught up medically now!!! Even when he is caught up, this will be our vacation spot! The kids LOVE it there and love the beach!

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. We had a King room with a picture window and a balcony with two chairs and a small table with the most beautiful view of the bay. We watched the sunrise and the dolphins leap. It was wonderful. The room was large, clean and comfortable.A full breakfast was included which was good but it was a typical hotel breakfast ...nothing special. The waffles were good but how many days can you eat waffles. I wish these hotels would offer a little variety each day. Our bed was very comfortable but the pillows could be a little firmer. There were 6 of them on our bed but they felt like cotton balls. The room, view and breakfast were well worth the money but I do hope they change the sofa bed in room 705. It was a nice option to have if we had a grandchild with us but the material on the sofa bed was so dirty we stirred clear of it. That was the only downside to our room. Perhaps it will changed soon. The front desk was extremely attentive to our needs and we even received an anniversary card upon checkout which the staff had signed individually...very thoughtful!

My room was filthy, carpet stains throughout the suite, dusty dirty air conditioning unit that had a terrible smell, stain on one of my pillow cases, requested cookware was filthy containing old caked on food, and/or burned on food, dirty serving spoon, greasy spatula, container cookware was in was dirty and greasy....

Company is NOT medical marijuana friendly AT ALL. They are non smoking rooms, which is fine, so as not to be rude I packed my vaporizer (since it's illegal in my state to smoke, only vaping allowed)and took my vape outside to use it for the two nights I stayed. After check out they went thru my trash and got out the marijuana stems, took a picture of it and charged my account $100 extra for smoking in the room!! They can see me leaving the room all throughout my stay and using my vape outside but because I had the remanence in the trash in the room they said that was “evidence” I SMOKED inside the room. As far as I'm aware you wouldn't get charged that fee if they had found cigarette butts in the trash. That is DISCRIMINATION against everyone with a Medical Marijuana Card. I will not and no one that I know that supports the medical marijuana movement will approve of Best Westerns policy of, we found a stem as proof you smoked in our room to rip people off! They should straight advertise or put it in their policy for you to read before you get the room that you are not allowed to smoke ON THE PREMISE not just in the rooms.

First time with a dog along. Front desk staff very kind. Being next to the beach was wonderful and breakfast was very good. Room could use some work, but as said first time in a dog friendly room. One tv did not work, but one did.

We found ourselves. My almost 70yr old mom, And our two little ones at 3am without a place to go after spending nearly $1,400 on a two night stay at a misleading VRBO nearby that was absolutely awful (smelled so bad and mattresses so uncomfortable that we couldn't even sleep). We desperately called Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn hoping to salvage our vacation and thankfully an angel named KELLY at front desk picked up. She was empathetic and very helpful-she was able to book us a hotel and thankfully housekeeping was able to turn the room over so we could have an early check in. When we arrived LULA was so sweet very welcoming-ALL front desk was incredibly kind, the room was CLEAN and I LOVED the citrus soap in the room. We loved the beautiful beach access and how quiet the room was. Staff were very accommodating, friendly, masked and wonderful with our kids as well. THANK YOU SO MUCH for saving our day!!!!!!!!! Loved the sunsets and memories made

We're surprised at the good reviews for this hotel. We were dismayed by the appearance of the outside of the motel - it looked a bit run-down when we pulled up, although the outside public areas were in good condition. The room smelled like dogs, which didn't bother us too much since we'd brought our dog. We've traveled a few times recently and we understand that hotels are understaffed, so our expectations for cleanliness are low. We don't expect cleaning during our stay, but we want the room to be clean when we arrive. The faux wood floor was filthy and our socks were black after being in the room for an hour. The staff immediately came to clean it but it didn't make much difference needs a much more thorough cleaning. The shower drain was broken and the water backed up in the shower. The staff came and fixed the blockage and said they'd repair the drain after our visit. The batteries were missing from the room safe but the front desk gave us more and we fixed it. The small armchair in the room looked so grubby that I didn't want my son to sit in it, so we put a sheet over it first. The doorframe to the small balcony was rusty. A staff member told us other rooms were nicer but said they're aware pet-friendly rooms need updating. The room was worth less than half the rate we paid. A review mentioned listening to the waves at night, but the window didn't open and the door was a heavy security door that was difficult to prop open and it wasn't safe to leave it open. A friend who lives a few towns away told us the beach isn't safe to walk on at night - which is true for many areas. The good - the outside areas of the hotel were well-kept. The pool looked clean but was very crowded so we didn't use it. The landscaping and pet walking area were very nice. The beach was clean and nice and right outside the door. There are no restaurants or stores within walking distance but the front desk was helpful in suggesting places we could drive to. Overall, I expected better from a Best Western and we'll be avoiding them in the future.

I booked an oceanfront room online but showed up and was given a room that was on the street. When I brought this to their attention I was told I'm not guaranteed oceanfront when booking online.... I had to pay more to get oceanfront. I didn't have time to argue since I was there on business and had a meeting to get to. Our room was dirty...dirt and hair on one of the beds that didn't belong to us. No soap, shampoo, lotion, or conditioner in the room. I usually bring my own soap but forget and when I called I was told to come get it. Very noisy atmosphere. We stay in hotels a lot between ball tournaments and work related business....won't stay here again. I paid a lot of money for this stay...not worth it here at all.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn & Suites on 27 Aug 2021 for about an hour. Not shortly after checkin someone opened our door, but we had the top latch on. My husband hollered out, but no one answered. I called the front desk, was out on hold by Kelly. I was so rattled we packed and left. I hung up and called BW 1-800 to get some assistance. Bianca @ Customer care called the hotel and they said it was their fault, they gave maintenance our room key to do work at 930 at night. Bianca a called our stay for the rest of the week. The BW Plus Holiday Sands would not offer a refund. They charged us for that awful hour and the week $2113.96. Debbie @ BW customer care had them reverse the charges for the week (I guess minus the one hour/night). But we only got back $1551.49. The room was $255.49, verified by BW customer care. Do not stay here. They do not know how to take care of customers. The pictures are not what the rooms are. I complained on their website and finally got an email from the manager , that said, sorry for the bad stay. I will be posting and complaining on different outlets until they refund me the full amount including that awful night.

Hotel was clean and right on the beach. Pool was great, balcony and Oceanview were perfection, and the room was bright and spacious. Staff was super friendly and helpful. Not too busy either! Close to a lot of scenic places in Norfolk too.

My sisters and I were on our first ever sisters vacation. After a long day of traveling we settled into our room, which looked decent at first sight. At around 2am i was woken up by a roach crawling on my arm. I got up & went into the bathroom & there was another roach on the floor which i took a picture of before i killed it. I woke my sisters up & looked for a new hotel right away. We gathered our belongings & had to shake everything out before we repacked it to go to a new hotel. While gathering our things i went into the kitchen to throw something in the trash can & there was a big roach crawling around in the trash...which I recorded. I took pics & recorded so they couldnt tell me that there were no bugs in my room. Luckily they did not put up a fight or dispute when I checked out 2 days early & demanded a FULL refund.

The motel is a great value if you're looking to be close to the beach, available breakfast and a clean room. We had an ocean view balcony which was great for viewing dolphins, sunrises and freighters on the water. The bathrooms are small and hard to use for changing your clothes but the hot water was plentiful and the shower heads high enough to get a good shower. Only real complaint was an uncomfortable mattress but I did not mention it to the staff until the end of my stay. Rooms could use some updates but the area is not greatly congested and the beach is nice. Pool was nice too. Housekeeping didn't clean our room which was ok but we had to go to the office for towels but I suppose we could have called to have them brought up. Overall was great value and yes I would stay here again.

Our floor/carpet was filthy with visible dirt and debris at check-in. I asked for it to be vacuumed and was told it would be. It wasn't. I have a one year old who I was worried about. I couldn't even take my shoes off in the room or the bottom of my feet would be black. I was so tempted to buy a vacuum from Walmart. I had a can of Lysol with me and that helped a tiny bit. Not much. The ac leaked into the room and onto the carpet and I'm sure there was mold under the carpet. The shower head was on wrong and when I pulled the lever for the shower to come on it fell off of the pipe and busted my five year old in the top of the head. He had a huge bump. Lots of fun. The funny thing is that the lobby was immaculate and smelled great. I wish I could've slept in the lobby. I couldn't wait to get out of there. For anyone writing a review and saying the place was clean.....I'd hate to see your living conditions at home. And one last thing. This was not a cheap place. After all was said and done it was $620.00 for three nights.

I use to stay at this hotel in the past, I love the beach, this last time I have issue with roaches which was not handle well by hotel staff, short of staff, not the best service, I do not think to comeback again

This hotel is very convenient a few feet away from the beach closer to everything restaurants all over the area, The best place to stay if you have family or just visiting I can't say negative about the place.

I booked this hotel based online, not knowing where exactly it was other than it was on the bay and had an ocean view. The front desk staff was personable and sweet. The room accommodations were clean, access to the pool and beach were perfect. It was a great place to stay and I would definitely come back.

This hotel was really great. Looking at exterior entry hotels in the general Norfolk area left me really nervous to find somewhere decent. This was way beyond decent. The view was incredible from our balcony and there was easy access to the beach. The pool was really great and my kids loved it. I stayed out on the balcony for a long time in the evening just enjoying the sound of the ocean. Room totally met our needs and was clean. No complaints. There was some smoking around in the breezeways that I wish they would have shifted to the side but it wasn't too big of a deal. Easy parking. Elevator even to exterior entry room.

We reported the problem at 2 am when we were awoken by loud noises next door. People were cussing, crying, and yelling. We reported this immediately but got no refund whatsoever for that terrible night. Would not recommend for family.

Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn and Suites was an average hotel for the few days that we stayed. A/C was nice after after a hot day on the non crowded private beach. Pool was nice. Beds were comfortable. Coffee was not the greatest and breakfast was ok. We enjoyed seeing all the dogs that were staying there, since we left ours at home. I would stay again for a few days.

I love coming to Norfolk to get away from home for a bit. I will say, overall, I feel comfortable at this particular hotel.. I pre booked this vacation last fall hoping it would be a little less costly booking that far in advance.. I loved the room and the balcony overlooking the Chesapeake Bay.. I was somewhat disappointed in not being able to get a cot for one of my kids, finding the microwave with baked on food still in it that had been there for quite some time, the sink was very slow to drain & a previous visitor had left cookies under the chair in the room that were left undiscovered. Housekeeping was kind enough to check in once during our stay to see if we needed any fresh towels or wash cloths.. Our last trip was a few years ago as cost can be rather discouraging limiting our ability to get out to do other things.. I would book another stay at this hotel as it's within driving distance of VA Beach & close to my route needed to return home..

We couldn't ask for a more enjoyable place to stay. Granddaughter loved the pool area and closeness to the beach. We stayed 10 days and not once was our room cleaned which was alright except having to ask for towels everyday and other items we ran out of.

This particular hotel fell well below expectations. Mold in the shower, leaking air conditioner with an odor, stained chairs, non functional remote or safe, and dirty room. Reported the issues with no resolution!

The hotel is right on the beach and feels like you are on your own private beach with very few other people around. The hotel needs repairs and needs to be cleaner. Covid is no excuse not to clean the rooms.

This hotel is dated and short staffed, but still an enjoyable stay. The breakfasts were filling and tasty. The location is directly on the beach, which you cannot beat. The beds are comfy and having a kitchenette was helpful with our extremely picky eater, plus on days we were too tired to go out, cooking a small meal was a nice option. Close to everything, yet not too loud.

my vacation was in may 2021, after we arrived and finalized our reservation and get to our rooms there is no house keeping? i had to call the desk every morning and request towels, rags, toilet paper and even had to take out all of our trash for my family and 3 other families we came with! almost had to beg for towels and wait outside the laundry room to get some, the used towels were put in a trash bag and sat outside? i went to the front desk and asked to speak the manager and was told the manager wasnt available and would wait until someone could be reached? i guess when you go somewhere for over 15 years with 5 other families and feel taken advantage of you are called irrate? we will never go back again! i would never recommend anyone to stay there again.

This hotel was more than we could have hoped for! We could see the pool and beach from our window and it was within walking distance! The water was calm because it is the bay. My 80 year old Mother was able to get there easily and really enjoy it! We enjoyed the pool (very clean) and the patio (very nice chairs and chase lounges! Our room had a kitchenette (bonus). So we felt we were at a resort! We will return!!!

Multiple roaches in our room, main door to our hotel wouldn't shut all the way, ice machine and the public restroom that was located in the laundry room was absolutely disgusting. We couldn't use the public restroom period. Had to check out first thing in the am and find somewhere else to go when most things were booked unless you choose a $800+ hotel or one of the super cheap places that you would expect to be dirty. (Hence the reason we were going to pay a huge amount to stay somewhere nice and clean)

Zero housekeeping, had to request towels 3x in one day before received any. Can tell the building is old, patched up. Free breakfast was unexceptional, we have stayed plenty during covid regs, they could have put much more effort into the offerings. Front desk staff very kind. Quiet beach. Not in a tourist area. Room had a cabin-type smell & feel, but was clean.

First of all, I want to make it clear that the people working are doing their best. It is clear that they are understaffed. Nice location with a quiet beach. The rooms have mold in the showers and every single corner of the room needs to be scrubbed. Our room smelled like pot when we got there, again, not the fault of the workers but tells you something about the clientele. The breakfast was totally adequate given COVID. A lot of places are doing grab and go only, but you can tell that they have made an effort here.

Probably the best place nearby for the price but the room smelled like weed when we came in. There is a giant window with no curtains so be prepared to wake up at 6 am. The bed makes a giant cracking noise when you sit on it. The TV did not work and the remote was filthy. There is bad service and the WiFi is awful.

The room and even the room key was unclean. The a/c smelled very bad. The. Ocean view and beach access was the best part about the motel. The staff was friendly, but often didn't follow through with requests. The front desk didn't have change for the laundry facilities and there were no change machines. The beds were not comfortable and the pillows needed replaced.

This hotel has seen better days but being waterfront, I am willing to make some concessions. The view is superb. The beach is very nice. The room was adequate with a sub-par bathroom. The free breakfast was below the bar. So my assessment is it was good for the price but if I had kids, I would go elsewhere.

On Friday end of day, I was looking for a room for my brother and his family as their room reservations at another hotel in Norfolk were cancelled. Nothing was available locally and I dropped by the lobby of this Best Western to find a room. Please note that this is an older property with bumps and scrapes. The true value of this unpretentious hotel is in its location. A large pool, deck and steps to the beach and Bay. Julie at the front desk was very helpful and did her best to find a room. Thank you! A king mini suite was spacious and clean. Was the chair in the room worn? Yes. Did I think the room was unclean? No.

This hotel is awesome, right on the beach, breakfast just opened back up after covid, best biscuitsn gravyI've ever had. The staff was great. The view was breathtaking, looked out over the beach and lil dog park area. I had my 2 service dogs with so this was great.

No maid service due to Covid-19 but we weren't informed of this before check in, our ice bucket was dirty with a black stain substance that would not wash off and we were told they had none to replace it. The nice breakfast that was advertised was a sandwich on the weekend and cereal on weekdays (to go) . The view from our room was wonderful and so relaxing. Everything (except the ice bucket) was clean, no bugs.

Overall, I was extremely happy with this property. Located on the beach, great staff, dog friendly, good breakfast, clean room, great location. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will use again.

The room was clean. We had a ktchenette. I am 5'2" and the shelf that the microwave was on was taller than me, which made it difficult to use. The tv did not work. The breakfast was ok, except the sausage and eggs were cold. The patio behind the hotel was very nice! There were lounge chairs, patio tables, picnic tables, and grills. A family was grilling and brought their food for dinner. Such a great idea! We are not familiar with the area, and didn't see restaurants nearby. We didn't use the pool, but there were people having a fun time there. The beach was wonderful!

The staff was absolutely amazing. The beach close, quiet and clean! My kids really enjoyed the pool and the location of the beach made it easy to switch back and forth.Wish there was better coffee in the room and on breakfast bar. Would stay again!

We chose this location because it was rated well and in close proximity to the person we were visiting. One the plus side the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I also liked the fact it was close to the beach and there was a place ro rinse the sand off our feet. Downsides to this hotel were: 1. There were no extra linens for the pull out bed. We had to return to the front desk to retrieve them. 2. It was super noisy at night. The second night as we were returning at about 11, there was a family just checking in and they had kids that were yelling until midnight or later. 3. There was no door between the bedroom and the main room of the suite meaning that the person sleeping on the pull out could not fall asleep until lights in the bedroom were shut off. 4. The tub did not drain well while taking a shower. There was at least three inches of standing water while showering. 5. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did nothing for the steam. Also, the fan should have been on a swtich separate from the light. 6. The room smelled weird as soon as we walked in. I eventually came to realize it was likely the deodorizer/sanitizer being used. It was not a pleasant smell. It really smelled like they were trying to cover up smoke in the non-smoking room. 7. There were not enough parking spaces on the same side of the hotel as our room if you returned to the hotel later at night. 8. If you wanted fresh towels, you had to ask the front desk. The hotel did not provide daily room cleaning service.

This hotel is great for so many reasons. The beach is low key the rooms are very affordable and clean and they staff is wonderful. The level of customer service is amazing!!! I will be staying here again

I was a little worried when I saw the mixed reviews, especially when they put us in the older motel side. But it was fine. The room was clean and comfortable for our family of four. It was nice to have a larger refrigerator with a real freezer. I could easily see us staying longer than a weekend here. I think this place is ideal in the shoulder seasons when it is less crowded. The walls are thin and you can hear the foot traffic outside and the surrounding rooms. Bring earplugs and a sleep mask if you are sensitive to light & noise. No issues with the staff and the free take-out breakfasts were adequate. The location was convenient, lots of stores of restaurants within a 10 minutes drive. We liked room 121 because it was right next to the entrance to the sundeck & beach.

Great location, right on the beach, sunrises were great. Off I-64. Very quiet and plenty of parking. Was greeted and rewarded for. Wing a Best Western member! Being able to step outside and take a walk on the beach was awesome! Great little restaurants in the area. Ocean View area was great.

We were in town for a short weekend and came across this Best Western Plus to book. Kalyn was excellent at check in, all the staff we came across were so friendly and helpful. They text messages to check on us were so thoughtful and gave easy access to answer a quick question. Our experience was very quiet, clean room, with a great beach view.

The people at the front desk were nice and thorough. The room I was in had was in the less desirable section of this motel. The room was ok, nothing special and the front door to the room is in desperate need of replacing. There was no trash can in the bathroom and the bathroom was weirdly remodeled. There was a weird built in seat in the shower, as if anticipating people getting tired in the shower. Although it seemed to have dirty corners and base-boarding throughout the room, I think it was more just old and needed replaced. I think the cleaning people definitely do the best job they can considering. Just didn't have a warm fuzzy going into the room, but also didn't feel like I was in any danger or unsafe.

Never try to do a nighttime check in. The front desk is supposed to be 24/7 service but at arrival I was told I'd have to come back at 4PM the next day because they had already shut their system down for the night even after telling the staff I had reserved that night as well. It wasn't until I called the reservations customer service line before the staff member would even acknowledge that I had reservations!

The location was a little sketchy. But the view from our balcony was beautiful. We enjoyed seeing dolphins in the bay in the morning, and the breakfast to go was a treat. Overall we were happy with our stay.

Warning don't stay here, I was in Norfolk to visit family for Easter, so I scheduled a weekend stay at Best Western Sands inn & Suites. I had the worst stay, my room was freezing it did not have heat and the night temperature was around 30 degree and when I asked to be moved to a room with working heat I was told that there were no rooms available to move me to and they would not refund my money so I could find a better hotel. The staff lied to me, I spoke to the hotel Manager Michelle More after I got home to receive a some sort of compensation for my terrible stay and she lied and said that there were rooms that I could have been moved to and she refused to help me, said that she would call me back but I have not heard back from her. Also, there was no maid service when I went out for the day and returned to my room I found it in the same condition that it was in when I left it and was told that they did not provide maid service on weekends and I had no clear towels. I am a rewards member but I have been treated terribly I would never imagined that I would be treated so bad and unvalued as a reward member. I am still waiting to hear back from Best Western and I will never stay at another Best Western and I warn anybody thinking of staying at Best Western Sands Inn & suites DON'T stay there spend your hard earned money at a hotel that is worth it.

Everything was perfect except one thing: there was no receptionist upon arrival. That may seem petty, but I had driven a 26' truck from Boston to Norfolk over 12 hours with 2 boxed up pets that were dying to get out. I wasn't sure what I was going to do when the doors to the place were locked, and I had already bought a night. Luckily, the lady who was coming on in a few minutes opened the door for me after I tapped on it a bit. 4 stars cause this was the only fault

I want from being a empty nester, to a full house due to covid. Best Western is near me and has afforded for me to take a break. I've ventured off to fine my peace and a bright place of freedom, without the extra expense. It was just right.

I surprised my girlfriend with a trip to the beach was looking at a couple of hotels but yall had the best price..wasn't expecting much but was nicely surprised with yalls service,room quality and hospitality I will definitely be recommending you to others!! Btw the ham sandwiches for breakfast were 10/10

Very clean and extremely friendly and helpful employees. Breakfast was served with a smile and had a grab bag for each visitor. Very close to the beach and local restaurants. Will definitely be back this summer.

Online info mentioned a hot breakfast and I chose this property partially because of that. Compared to other Best Westerns, this breakfast was the most disappointing. No fresh fruit, a substandard sandwich on weekends only, OJ at 1 breakfast but not the other, no granola bar as mentioned on the placard, no herbal tea, no milk for the cereal. Other properties have figured out how to manage covid. I was able to get a blanket when I asked foe the 2nd night of my stay, but I didn't realize that there was only a sheet with the single layer bedspread until I got into bed the first night. Staff were helpful, so it's just a matter of setting realistic expectations and then meeting them!

I didn't know this Best Western Plus existed and I'm a native of Norfolk. It was a great value for a very nice room right in the beach. The weather was not the best but we enjoyed the hotel very much. My husband and I will be revisiting Best Western Plus again especially during the summer months. Thank you for a great staycation!

This is a clean, comfortable place to stay. The staff is pleasant and go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. During covid they have grab and go breakfast which is quite tasty. Coffee, hot water for tea or hot chocolate is always available during lobby hours, with a sanitizer to clean your hands before you pour your beverage.

My wife, teen daughter and I stayed here on Saturday, 9/26. There are two parts to this hotel: a 2-story u-shaped part that looks like an old motel from the 60's, and the "tower" which is a short in length 5-story addition attached off to the side. We stayed in this "tower" on the fourth floor. It was 2 Q beds and had a medium sized flat screen TV, small fridge and microwave, and coffee maker. The sink area was part of the main room with the toilet and shower separate. The beds seemed comfortable enough for one night, but that was about as good as it got. As has been stated in recent reviews, there was no spare toilet paper and the toilet is a vacuum flush, so it's REALLY LOUD. There was also no kleenex, the clock didn't work and no way to set it manually. The beds only had a sheet and thin cover and there was no extra blankets in the room. Tried to call down to the desk to get blankets, but the phone didn't even work. The lady at the front desk was nice and got us blankets when we went down to ask. As was also stated in another review, you have to go to the other side of the hotel (the old, 2-story part) and knock on a door to get the breakfast, which was, like stated in someone's August review, a large croissant w/ a small fried egg & very small piece of sausage on it, an orange, and something else that I forget. This place needs a lot of updating, especially to justify a $171 per night cost for the offseason. And it doesn't seem that the management cares as I don't see any response to reviews, good or bad. Wouldn't ever stay here again and would be very wary of staying at another Best Western in the future.

Really enjoyed my stay! I didn't expect the room to be like an suite! Had a living room with tv and hide-a-bed, and a bedroom with king bed and tv. Really nice! and extremely affordable. Right on the beach with a beautiful view. Will definitely be staying here again!

We made reservations here at the last minute, because of the ratings, and pictures it looked fine. Plus we have two big dogs with us. Unfortunately we checked in late due to traffic and rain slowing us down. A 3 hour drive turned into 5. By the time we got there it was late and dark. The floor of the room was horrible and so dirty, the room had mold and looked like it had not been cleaned, the bed looked ok, but I still slept with full clothing on. Plus they didn't even leave an extra roll of toilet paper in the room. We will not be back to this hotel, I'm very surprised its not living up to the Best Western title!

As a resident and Fan of OV, it pains me to have to write this. There will never be a day that I would suggest the oceanfront over my own Ocean View area! I LOVE OV! That all changed today. DURING A PANDEMIC! I am a Travel Agent, recommend and book reservations for Best Western over EVERY other hotel in the vicinity. The sights, ease of getting around, affordability, beach locale, and HELPING THE BUSINESSES IN THE OV COMMUNITY ARE IMPORTANT TO ME. I only wish that was the case for Best Western's staff today. My clients called me, early morning, to inform me of the issues they were having. Having drove down the night before,they overlooked and understood there was an issue with the doors and could not receive keys. They also accepted the many flies in the kitchen. In addition, they brought their elderly mother with them, and she was stuck in the bathroom!! The door was recently painted or repaired and did not fit the door jam! How awful... To top that off, they were unable to utilize the suite the booked properly! Relying on websites and such, as a Travel Agent, is CRITICAL! Your site mentioned on numerous Booking agents, cooking utensils were included? THIS WAS NOT THE CASE! Imagine making a reservation, in hopes of coming to see how great Norfolk is, and not having a kitchenette to use? My clients reached out to the front desk and were told "THERE'S A DOLLAR TREE UP THE STREET!" (This staff member said it with an attitude as if she was was being inconvenienced) WHY WOULD ANYONE... WHO ISN'T FROM THE AREA, TRAVELLED BY CAR, AND UNABLE TO LEAVE TOGETHER GO SEARCH AND PAY FOR POTS AND PANS?! This hurt me as a human and the professional recommending Best Western, to My CORE! So much so that I drove over to the hotel in hopes of rectifying the situation. To my dismay, I walked in to the front office and was unable to. I asked the young lady at the front desk if there was a manager on duty. Her reply, with aggression, "Why?! How may I help you?" I began to tell her about my hopes of helping my client and ensuring that my clients became repeat bookings for the hotel. She proceeded to tell me she didn't know what to tell me. After being cut off, I paused and redirected the conversation with "Hello. Good Morning. Let's start over" I went on to tell her about the pots and pans and keys and she ignored me by talking to a reservationist who walked in! Then when she finally wanted to speak she said " I gave them a pan and a pot!" To avoid it getting worse and clearly her not understanding customer service or the impact she was having in the hotel's future reservations, I left. The only bright light was a staffer coming to the door and apologizing. Kaylyn, I believe, ensured the keys she brought worked for my clients. After the ordeal today and last night, my clients do not want to book here again, book with me without checking the property themselves, and are unsure of if they'll ever come to Ocean View again?! How terrible!?? In a matter of minutes, a front desk person has harmed Best Western's reputation and a small business owner's travel business! As a single mom and travel agent, THIS IS NOT OKAY!!

We were right on the beach. It had a nice pool area that wasn't open due to covid but the staff were friendly and very accommodating. Rooms were clean with more then enough towels. There was a nice patio are in the back for bbq's, definitely recommend.

Our goal was to be as close to the beach as possible without spending a ton of money, and also was hoping to prepare meals and not have to eat out as much. We got a king suite with kitchenette room. The suite was spacious and clean. We did bring our own disinfectant wipes and sprays so we could clean it ourselves. We were RIGHT on the beach. Even during the busy Saturday rush people were able to keep their distance and never was too crowded.Couldn't get any closer which was great when you have little ones and have to carry a bunch of stuff. The room was missing a shower curtain and happen to ask, I'm assuming, the head of house keeping for one and she immediately grabbed one and hung it up for us. She seemed very on top of things. Unfortunately our friends room was missing a curtain and they had run out but did get one the next day. Due to the virus I think there were some things just not communicated to us maybe bc the hotel guide books that are normally found in the rooms were gone. We didn't know there was an elevator at first, didn't know there was a laundry room to use. I guess they were offering breakfast but you had to ask for it? None of this information was relayed to us. It was nice that the cleaning people weren't coming in and out of the room to clean it. They did leave a stack of towels and other necessities after the first night but not anymore after that and as trash was piling up in our room we weren't sure what to do with it so we left it outside our door one day to take. Our "kitchenette" consisted of a microwave and mini fridge. Was hoping for a counter top or a full fridge/freezer to try and eat at the room more but we ended up door dashing most of the time. It was quiet the first two nights but as the hotel got busier for the weekend the more we heard doors were slamming shut all night, my friends could hear their neighbors fighting and yelling all night. It got so bad their bed vibrate bc of someone getting pushed into the wall. Obviously this could happen at any hotel but if you have little ones might be best to go during the week when it's a bit quieter. The area itself is ok. No boardwalk and not alot of restaurants. Alot of places on door dash that will deliver though which was good. There is a Harris Teeter with a Starbucks inside right down the road. There is a Rite Aid, CVS, Wawa, Mcds and other fast food places near by. Really not alot to do in the area but it's a quiet beach town.

Stayed here with the family on business. The suite was perfect for the three of us. The views on the bay at night are awesome with the bay bridge tunnel in the distance. Service was nice and even let us check in a little early.

Run, don't walk from this hotel! Very disappointed with it. I've stayed at a lot of BW properties and this by far was the worst one, ever!! We walked in to our room and it had a terrible smell. Then we noticed the 3 dozen or so DEAD flies all over the floor, window sills and carpet. A good dozen were alive and landing on everything. Eww. Housekeeping came to sweep and vacuum but still, that's disgusting. There was a dirty towel laying over a chair with nasty, dead, smeared flies or bugs on it. Stains on the carpet. Juice or jelly splashes on the refrigerator door, freezer door and wall in the kitchen area. Along with dead flies all over the bathroom the light cover was absolutely gross. Thee was still garbage in a trash can in the living area. Definitely never staying here again. On top of this, they hold an extra $250 when you check in when it CLEARLY states on their website they hold $100. Disgusting hotel and overpriced.

This place has completely gone down hill. Amenities and service poor. Room smelled like it had been smoked in,, sand on floor. Towels never delivered when requested on 3 different occasions. Had to go to desk and ask each time we needed more towels. Bagged breakfast disgusting. Outside perimeter of facilty with overflowing trash cans attracting flies. Had to report to front desk 3 times before they were emptied. Obviously not being emptied each day. Something spilled on floor of elevator. Again, had to report 3ctimes before finally being mopped. Housekeeping member arguing with a guest about roaches in the room. No wonder they have roaches with trash piling up outside rooms and overflowing trash cans. Cost for what you get is highway robbery. 2 of the 5 nights we stayed room was $298. No pool, no exercise room, breakfast offered was not edible. Decreased services with increased charges. Will not stay here again or recommend.

The hotel was nice and the location was good. No housekeeping for the length of our stay (3 nights). We received no fresh towels in the room without going to the desk to get them. Called and requested towels but had to go to the desk to retrieve.

Well when I drove up I realized that I should have gone elsewhere but I was stuck. Right from the beginning it all went wrong. First we go into the office and she gives us a room on the first floor which I was happy about until we went inside. The room smelled aweful, the tv was on and the couch was half opened. We had to go get another room which of course was on the 2nd floor. At least this one was clean. The room I picked hada kitchenette which was a waste of money. It had a refrigeator and microwave and a sink and a mini coffee maker. Nothing else! It ould have been nice if they had some silverware even if plastic. The room was laid out really weird. Only good thing was that we had two private rooms but you had to go into the one bedroom to get to the bathroom which leads me to the toilet that had like a sonic boom (really loud)when you flush. Tv's were situated in a strange fashion. Room layout needs updating. Now I will come to breakfast which due to Covid-19 is limited. I was not prepared for what I was going to get. The worker barely opened the door and I had to repeat myself that I wanted two bags which consisted of egg sandwiches on croissants which were ice cold. I asked if I could have a bagel and was told the chef was not in and I wouldn't be able to get it. At this point I figured who knew where she kept these sandwiches and decided I didn't want to get sick so I threw them out. I had to go out to a restaurant to get breakfast because their breakfast was inadequate. I understand they have a grab and go breakfast but give choices and also condiments to go with the sandwiches and silverware. Then I wanted to go to the pool and they said it was closed due to needing an inspection and that the inspector is very busy.and may not come for weeks. At some point I saw people in the pool, don't know if they snuck in o not but shortly after they locked it up. The beach access was nice but small. No chair rental or restrooms anywhere near the beach or pool. The beach was the best part of this hotel. Overall I would probably not return. I found it overpriced and as far as food there wasn't much around. Oh and they charge you 100.00 refundable deposit for insidentals. I wouldn't recommend this place at all.

this was spur the moment trip! We want something nice but didn't wanna spend a lot. Perfect for my family and right on the beach. It was safe too we are staying during the COVID-19. We definitely use again!

Staff was very friendly at check-in. Mask required to walk in lobby, so assumed, they would be holding Covid cleaning standards in the rooms. No mind you I personally work for a hotel here in OH and have the deepest respect for hospitality staff and what they do. So I also know somethings very small get missed. With that said, we went to our room and with Covid-19 in effect we already planned to use Lysol wipes to whip down the room ourselves for extra protection. We checked the beds first for bugs as we always do anywhere we stay. Perfect no bugs! As we were wiping down the room, I found food on the outside of fridge and on top of microwave, okay, wiped it off. On top of fridge is left over straw from last guest and the inside was not wiped out as there was food crumbs and water bottle lid inside. We found a few light stains on the sheets, knowing it was the busy season, thought maybe it was just missed by laundry personal. I am still okay at this point. Now is when I start to get upset. The floor close to the beds were not swept, we found a broken pieces of silverware and other unidentified things. Bathroom had a bug in the tub. I have taken pics, so since this all is found right after we have checked - in, I go back to front desk, to let them know things are being missed, They apologize and ask me to forward the pic's for training. That's fine. After going back to the room, we realize we have no towels, okay fine, try to call front desk, phone does not work. So at this point I am embarrassed I have brought my family here, even after doing research. My husband heads back to lobby to ask for towels, They are more than happy to bring them to us, as they had other rooms who checked-in with no towels. We take off to go check out their beach access, which is amazing! When the kids go to get in bed, they scream, as something is in the sheets, it was only a Gatorade bottle cap, but we did not have or bring Gatorade with us. So they just proved to me our room was not cleaned. I walked back over to the lobby to let them know and offered to let them come see we had no Gatorade with us. I was asked if I'd like new sheets, Um, yes, my room was not cleaned. I am then informed that the housekeeping staff has not been properly trained. Ya, I can tell! At this point I asked for a discount and was told I would have to speak to the manager in the morning. On my return to the room, my family had found more issues, one being the used coffee filter still in the coffee pot. I also sent these pic's to the number I was given earlier. The bed room window was plexus glass and had no lock, so assuming it was broke into at one point. That makes ya feel safe. The next morning I go to speak with the manager about the issues and a discount, first she offers, me new sheet. Ya, we took care of that last night. ( I guess they don't keep any written logs to share info with the incoming shift.) She then looks at my account and says they have already given you a discount, so I inquire about that. The discount was my rewards member price, I had to pull up my reservation on my phone to prove to her that's the price I booked at. after that confusion, all she could offer was a small discount, I took it as that's all they would offer. I am even embarrassed I took it but they had not intention of making right in any other way. I was not asking for a free room just a reasonable discount for a room that they just remade the beds and took out the trashed and called it ready for the next guest, whom happened to be my family. The breakfast bag was a pre made sausage egg and cheese sandwich and a apple or orange on one day and same sandwich with a pastry or muffin the other. It's a surprise when you open the bag. Wifi was very spotty.

1st Room was dirty, Instead of just giving us another room, she wanted to track down housekeeping. Eventually........they gave us another room. when we came back from dinner the 2nd room had somebody else in it!! The 3rd room had no towels, toilet paper or soap!!

This stay was a quick decision. Rooms were available and the booking process was quick and easy. Was really happy with the room and the hotel accommodating pets. The front desk gave goody bags for each dog and there was a fencedin run.

There was a huge spider in the bathtub when we arrived and broken glass remained on the floor overnight into the next day after 12noon due to lack of house keeping. Management did not step in and try to get the glass up, move my family to another room or anything.

I paid $183 for one night at this hotel. Due to Covid state restrictions, there was NO pool, NO breakfast, NO transportation to airport. No food. NOTHING. OK--not the fault of the hotel. But for THIS I paid full price?

Great spot near the beach! Just a short walk down and not too far from the base and airport for business matters. Clean rooms, hot water consistently even late at night, good prices, and absolutely nice staff!

This small, older motel is in a superb location with the beach as a wonderful backdrop. There is nothing real special about the aging building, nothing wrong, nothing great. But the price, location and friendly staff make this a place we will get back to whenever we are in the area.

Great place to Stay !! We always use this as our go to place when in Ocean View. Get a room in the tower with balcony facing the Chesapeake Bay. Friendly staff and good breakfast make for a comfortable stay.

We stayed here while visiting family a few days for Christmas. All the staff are friendly and made us feel like we were staying with friends. Everything is neat, well taken care of and the older property has been very effectively updated to make a stay very comfortable. We,ll stay here again when we visit our family in the future.

I checked in for one night with my two small children. I had to move rooms at 1 a.m. due to bugs. I was bit on my hand while laying in bed. He picked a room on the other side of the hotel and i had to carry multiple children independently asleep to move. Bed was uncomfortable, bathroom was small and not clean looking. I did not use the kitchen. The breakfast was nasty, especially the coffee.. that i needed after no sleep... i told them at check out it was a miserable stay. I was only told "well, have a nice holiday." Never again.

Comfy, clean, neat and quiet. Wasn't terribly fond of the vinyl flooring, but guess since you can walk outside to the beach, sand must be a problem. Since we were there only to sleep, can't review any amenities except breakfast (not a huge selection, but what they had was hot and toasted good.

Outside of breakfast and the breakfast staff, this hotel is poor stay for the price. You can find better hotels for less money that had cleaner rooms that do not smell. I wouldn't recommend or stay here in my upcoming visits.

My brother's and I planned the trip months ago. I scheduled to stay at the Best Western in Virginia Beach. However, upon my arrival, my car rental wasn't ready and I had to cancel the rental reservation and hotel reservation. My brother told me about this Best Western. I contacted them. Explained my situation and they accommodated me in a matter of minutes. Rooms comfortable, breakfast was average. Customer Service was great. I would recommend this hotel.

I was in town visiting my son who is in the Navy so I needed something close to the base. The Best Western was just the ticket. Close to the base, clean, beach access, fast internet, a large room with an ocean view. there was also food and convience stores near by.

nice location, quiet, no interruptions or noises, also had a kitchenette, good selection of tv channels, wifi was great, bonus was we were right on beach, no hassle of looking for parking, kids loved the whole experience

Went to celebrate a 33nd birthday .picked this hotel because it was close to a family member. Would probably book again if need be. Close to the beach as well. Walking distance which was nice. View was nice.

Great location, friendly staff, but rooms leave a lot to be desired. Was only in town for one night, but baseboard was falling off the wall, phone didn't work and toilet wouldn't flush properly and ended up flooding the bathroom. Not exactly how we expected to spend our night in Norfolk. The staff did show up quickly to mop up the toilet issue, but it was not a great evening.

The only nice thing about this hotel is the location. This hotels seems like it was a motel not kept well and best Western bought it and didn't do anything to fix all the nasty looking rooms. I had to go out to buy Clorox wipes and a mop to clean the room.

Visiting our son at ODU from Philadelphia, we decided to have a little beach vacation too. This hotel was clean and right on the beach. Everyone was so nice! We will definitely be back over the next 4 years!

Just came back from staying here. I can not say enough good things about this motel. Clean, quiet, the view was awesome. Private beach. We caught flounder, pufferfish, croaker, and spot here. The pool was closed and covered which was a bummer but that didn't take away from how great this place is. Breakfast was fresh and hot. AND THE STAFF!!OH MY GOSH. THEY WERE FANTASTIC!!! Can't wait for our next trip.

There aren't very many places to stay with beach access along the Chesapeake Bay in Norfolk, but this place seems to be one of the better ones. The floor in our room could have used a thorough cleaning. The rooms are dated and the mattresses could use an upgrade. The continental breakfast was standard. We were disappointed that the outdoor pool had already been closed down for the season (it was only mid September ).

This hotel is dirty and in a bad state. There are a lot of cockroaches in the rooms, even in the suites. The sealing in room 227 is nearly falling down, the rooms are smelling bad. The battery of the smoke detector was broken, and did loud noises. The lady at the reception was unable to solve this problem. We had to change the battery by ourselves. Yes, we expected a “Thank you”, but nothing happens. We will never stay there again and can't recommend this place. The point is for location.

Rooms were very nice and clean. Beautiful view of the Chesapeake Bay. Very friendly staff,they were very helpful in the breakfast room. Nice pool with an area to walk your dog. Only down fall was the door to the balcony. It is not a sliding door but a very heavy door that is hard to prop open. I like to hear the waves in my room.

The Hotel is eight miles north of the Bay Bridge in a mixed residential and business use area. There are shopping malls and fast food joints all around, but not really high end resturants. We had a balcony room on the forth floor and it was very nice and quiet. We swam in the pool and sat on the balcony most days, as there was an endless show of navy planes, hovercraft, container ships, and navy ships all day to watch. One day there were dolphins in the water while the guests were swimming. I would say it's a fifty year old building, and I would pick this hands down over a Motel 6 or a Super 8 motel anytime. If you like spending $300 per night on a room you will find them 15 miles south of here.

Disappointing. Property does not match photos online or info when calling to make reservations. Only stayed long enough to find a better place. Wouldn't go back. Didn't meet expectations-- below expectations. Have stayed with Best Western before but not this location.

Stayed over Labor Day weekend 2019. Air conditioner was broken in room when we arrived. It wasn't fixed until the next day. Phone was not working in the room, we saw a cockroach in the bathroom, and our room was not cleaned, one of the four days we stayed, the manager said they would move our room but to a non ocean view at the same price. I asked for a discount or a free night later, which I don't think I will hear from them. Pluses, on the ocean, nice pool and maintenance man was the shining star for fixing everything. He apologized more than the manager. Overall not a bad hotel, not sure I would stay again because of the roach.

The front lobby is pleasant & updated, but does not reflect the actual condition or style of the property. The property is grey, dated, and old. The windows don't open, the doors & windows are probably 40+ years old. It is not welcoming. No toilet paper upon check in, oops, how inconvenient. Toilet leaked every time it was flushed all over the floor. Was never repaired, but caulking appeared gloppy so was obvious ongoing issue. I was told to not flush each time. UGH. Worst part, I was on 4th floor and elevator broken both days! It was repaired the 1st day, and broke again. A staff person told me that this had happened before, enough times that staff quit! Some of the staff were very very helpful and I applaud them for working at a property with obvious issues that make their work day very hard. The pool area and beach were nice. The owner of this property needs to make some very needed updates and repairs. The staff was painting gray over gray... for a refresh... Update the mini fridges (from the 70s?), the doors, the windows, the toilets, windows, repair the broken tile floors, and make sure the sand is cleaned out of the tubs and all debris swept from the floors, and add toilet paper to the rooms. AND above all, replace that scary, loud, door banging elevator so that your employees and guests don't have to walk up 4 flights in 100 degree hot weather with luggage or cleaning carts/supplies.

The staff here are exceptional. Warm, friendly and very accommodating but that's where the positives end. I reserved a dog friendly room and I understand that these rooms need to be cleanable but the furnishings are incredibly old and worn. The bathroom toilet was not cleaned and the couch had stains all over it that I was able to clean off with a towel making me wonder how the clean the room actually was. I also wiped up some water that had gotten on the floor due to the fact that it was raining and the paper towel was literally black. The grounds are not well kept. And while the hotel is directly on the beach-its location in Norfolk is somewhat suspect.. I could not recommend this hotel.

Walked into the room and i was warmly greeted by an infestation of flies. Flies on the beds. Flies in the windows. Flies flying around the room. Immediately cancelled my stay. Really disgusting. Would never stay here again.

This is our first time going to Best Western Plus at Norfolk, VA and I honestly do not want it to be the last. I have already refered a coworker and a friend to go there. It is an exellent location, everything is around, and is 30 mns from VA Beach. The staff are amazing from the moment we put our foot at the front desk throughout our one week stay. We have never felt so welcome before, their breakfast staff, their cleaners, their front desk employees and even the maintenance technician, everyone gave an extra hand to help. The breakfast people we saw everyday, they were very courteous and always smiling. We loved it there and would like to come back again. Thank you

Checked in for a three day end-of-summer getaway...it was high-season, and the rates were fairly expensive (bay facing king efficiency with balcony). This hotel could be amazing in that they have the perfect location for a quiet beach getaway...and have the amenities (nice pool, large sundeck) to meet the needs of most vacationers. What is lacking is the attention to detail, and the lack of responsiveness of staff when concerns are brought to their attention. Room service is poor at best (dust covers most of the non-wood areas of the room, the carpet had toenail clippings from a prior guest, and simple expectations like trash, towels, soap are overlooked when room was cleaned), the kitchenette was manufactured in the 1970's...and leaves much to be desired. The microwave buttons fail to work, it is tiny, and once was mounted to something as evidenced by the brackets attached to it doing nothing. The TV remote had non-working buttons...and the hotel could not offer a replacement when asked (?). Bedding was good, breakfast was good, pool is clean, bay is beautiful...but the stay was less than hoped for due to the LACK OF ATTENTION TO DETAIL that is reflected in this property.

This Hotel is overpriced for what you get. Smelled of urine, old disgusting carpets, locks broken, overall it was a complete shambles. Will never go back. The front desk gave me air freshener and a bag of water for my inconvenience. Manager never even acknowledged my complaints.

Nice place, Everything worked fine. Everything was fair. Professional staff. Nice meal. Lots of flies in the inside and outside eating area. Clean beach. Nice patio. They said they were sold out but it did not feel like there were lots of people there. Meaning there was space. It felt good. Not crowded at all, Clean pool. Could be a bit bigger or extend the 3 ft for the kiddies. Could use more parking. ZERO BUGS!!!!!!! Room service for more towels was super fast. Even the local pizza deliverer was professional. I would stay here again. 7-11 very close. Mall 15 minutes away.

These pictures tells a thousand words. See these pictures closely and rate it for yourself. And not to mention about the tap lever shower is mulfunctioning. Carpets not being vacuumed properly. I would recommend a deep clean shampoo on the carpet. This is just our first night out of 6 nights booked in. Regrettably and disappointed..

We were very pleased with all the staff at the Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn & Suites. The ladies at check in were very quick, friendly and helpful. The breakfast ladies were very proficient and friendly. The housekeeping staff also went out of their way to accommodate us. We would definitely stay there again.

We always stay here on Vacation. The rooms are so clean and the beds are soft. The staff is so very nice and polite. We bring the dogs and they live going out on the beach. The kids have the best time.

The location and the room were okay. The room was clean. . One of the front desk personnel was the rudest person I have ever encountered. We asked for extra towels and were given the third degree about why we needed extra towels. We asked for 3 extra towels and she would only give us 2. For this reason , i dont know if I will ever stay there again.

Extremely pleased with our room. Unfortunately we wasted over $70 in food that we were unable to cook because the hotel ran out of pots and pans and kitchen utensils. I travel with a service animal and had issues several times with staff regarding having him in the pool area with me. I provided all documentation at check in and should not have had to constantly fight with staff - they should all be educated on the laws when working in the industry. Breakfast was great and staff was very diligent about keeping everything stocked. Check in and out staff was also extremely friendly.

The staff and location of this hotel can't be beat. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The only hotel related issue we had was a non functional room safe. We reported it to maintenance but it never did get fixed during our stay. The beachfront is spectacular! Compared to the crowds at Virginia beach this place is practically deserted. Just what my fiance and I wanted. We were able to pull a couple of chairs right up to the waterfront and by sunset there may have been only 10 of us on the entire beach! And this was in mid July. Couldn't ask for a better location We were in the tower section of the hotel on the 5th floor facing the ocean. The balcony view as spectacular. As far at the room itself...meh... Everything worked but it was dated and old. A new carpet and a fresh coat of paint would have helped a LOT. The room just looked dingy due to age. Not dirty per say, more faded. The bathroom needed a major re-work. Again, just old. Scratches and scrapes in the tub, water stains on the surround..stuff like that. All worked fine, water was nice and hot ect. But the hotel could use some of the money for upgrades, Don't go hear for the breakfast, definitely not a selling point. The only reason I'm giving this an average rating is because of the dated conditions of the hotel. If they'd spend a bit of money and upgrade the rooms this would be an excellent place to stay. Still, it's a good deal for the money and you can't beat the location.

We chose to stay here instead of Virginia Beach, because of the more private beach area and less cost. I wasn't thrilled about spending $130 a night on this hotel, but I did because of the beach/bayfront access. We ended up getting a room on the motel side of the hotel. Noisy. Noisy all day and all night, from the people outside of the room to the ones up above. The room had a microwave, full sized fridge and stove top. We only used the fridge. The stove top looked gross and I didn't even check out the microwave. The room had a pull out couch that was already made up and in horrible condition. Felt like springs were poking through it. There were two other double beds that were just as uncomfortable. The carpet throughout had sticky patches and sand through it. The room was humid. All the vents and fans on air conditioners were filthy making it difficult to breathe in the room. The breakfast room was disgusting. There were flies in it every morning. Not just a few flies, a ton of flies! The layout of the room is horrible and crowded. By the second day, they had put up a tent outside of the room and tables and chairs, so we chose to eat out there, instead of in the crowded breakfast room. Same choices the three mornings were were there and I heard the workers say they were out of things to stock and they were waiting on a truck. One of the only things we enjoyed was the ability to walk right out our room and down the sidewalk to the beach. It's nice because it is secluded. They should hire someone to clean up the area though. There were cigarette butts and litter on the beach each time we visited. The staff we encountered was always friendly and helpful. The housekeepers asked every morning if we needed anything. We asked for fresh towels, in exchange for dirty ones and bypassed them having to straighten up the room. The breakfast staff was always smiling and doing there best to keep the area stocked. The staff should be given credit for doing all the can to help out guests. Rooms on the motel side need to be updated and the breakfast area needs to be expanded.

We had 2 rooms for our family. Each was about $300+/night with taxes, etc. I would expect more for the cost but we were extremely underwhelmed. One room didn't have a shower curtain and they never replaced it, even after multiple requests. My father-in-law's bed had sand in it so clearly the room wasn't serviced properly before check-in. There breakfast was not impressive with very limited options. It's on the beach/Bayside, so the views are nice but there isn't anything else pleasant about this motel. I would not recommend this motel.

Location is amazing--you're right on what ends up being basically a private beach. You're close enough to Virginia Beach to participate in the chaos if you want, but far enough away to enjoy the peace of Norfolk. Norfolk is an awesome city--great food, neat art, nice people. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They called to check on us everyday. They were very nice if you passed them when they were out and about cleaning, working, etc. Only negative--the breakfast leaves a lot to be desired. I would definitely book again!

This hotel is our favorite place to stay! We return every year for the beautiful panoramic views of the secluded bay beach! We appreciate the caring hotel staff and the improvements they make each year to keep the hotel updated!

Our stay at this location was amazing. Our first morning we got to see Dolphins swimming in the Bay right from our hotel room window. The pool was clean. The staff was very polite and helpful. Anything we needed during our 8 day stay was quickly taken care of. We would gladly stay here again.

I must say the hotel personnel were so nice from the time I booked the reservations 3 months ago till the time we left they were so helpful kind and very informative this hotel has everything from a warm hot breakfast fantastic coffee even in the evening a quick walk to the pool a great patio where you can dine or eat at a table outside bring your own food and enjoy the beach is right there no high waves perfect to fly a kite or watch your grandchildren enjoy in peace everyone was so nice from the staff to the visitors it was amazing very relaxing we spent five nights there I can't wait to go back next year oh and no mosquitoes what a blessing

Room was dirty, elevator had duct tape on it saying it was out of use for the 4th floor. Completely run down. Tub and bathroom had physical dirt on them. Rooms were very old with no updates. They smeilled like mildew. THE ONLY HIGHLIGHT WAS THE FRONT DESK STAFF WAS AMAZING. When we said that we could not stay they were very understanding and respectful. We had to pay for one night even though we could not stay due to the conditions that were completely out of our control. Don't go here.

great place to stay friendly staff all the way around the breakfast was great loved being on the beach and never felt unsafe, being close to the pier was a plus for my husband and daughter they went fishing 3x's and were very happy with results

This hotel was an excellent choice for my friends and I because we had a great room, which was clean and neat, free breakfast, and access to both a swimming pool and the lovely private beach. Our room had a view of the bay, and we could sit on our balcony and watch both sunrise and sunset. The pool was lovely, but there is no lifeguard on duty (so please be careful). The sand was very hot, but that could be remedied by wearing flip flops, taking a swim in the bay, or bringing umbrellas and tents to provide shade. The hospitality of the staff was really quite nice. It's not the most modern hotel I've stayed in, but it was one of the most comfortable. I'd certainly stay there again.

Last minute reservations to visit my daughter getting ready to deploy. I had promised I'd bring her puppy to say goodbye. I couldn't have had a more friendly caring group of people help me! The location right on the beach - was perfect! The room was spacious and clean, breakfast was great! Thanks to everyone there!! We'll be back!!

I stayed here while my floors were being refinished, 6/5-8/19. It is very nice, and a great value. I chose a bay front room with a balcony. The room was very clean, not luxurious, but nice, with a microwave and small refrigerator. The bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet, despite the fact that a lot of kids were there with their parents and there were twenty somethings staying there also. The free breakfast was about what you'd expect, waffles, bagels, muffins and bread, with a toaster available, as well as cream cheese, butter and jelly. They had little cheese omelets that were surprisingly good, sausage, and a variety of cereal. Coffee, milk, juice and apples and oranges were also available. The extremely friendly and helpful attendants kept the dining room spic and span, and regularly replenished the food. Everyone there was exceptionally friendly and helpful, from the front desk to the housekeeping staff. The manager did his best to allow me to extend my stay, but by the time he tracked me down I had made other plans. My fault, not his. I am considering returning this fall, just to watch the waves roll in.

I don't usually write reviews but I felt I had to write one for this hotel. The price is very fair, in fact it can't be beat for an oceanfront stay. The rooms are clean, the breakfast is great, and staff is friendly. The private beach is perfect, you dont have to fight the crowds. I booked another stay this summer because I was so impressed. The best part is you are so close to VB and all the fun activities in the area but feel almost secluded when at the hotel. AWSOME!

I took my girls on our first vacation together. This isnt my first but definitely one of my best. The hotel was great friendly service, right on the beach, hot amazing breakfast, and a pool. The beach was not crowded at all and the waves where light making it perfect. It doesnt have many tourists shops near if thats what your looking for but all attractions are no more then thirty minutes away and easy to get to. We will be back with our soon to be larger family and Im excited to visit again!!!

From the moment we checked in until our check out everyone was friendly. The beds were comfortable, the ocean view beautiful, the exercise room adequate, the breakfast nice. We got exactly what we wanted. Happy with our stay.

This Best Western is a great deal, affordable, right on the beach, free breakfast, friendly staff and just minutes from Hampton conferences and Virginia Beach fun.. You can get a quiet night's rest and enjoy it all. The rooms are nice but the suites are the best deals for families.

Short drive to Virginia Beach. Beach Access for the Bay was nice. Our room didn't have a balcony, which we were hoping for, but still had a view and spacious rooms.. Breakfast area was too small for size of hotel.

It was one of the worst rooms every stayed in. The room lock was busted and we thought we got locked in the room once. We found a bug in the room. Dirty bathroom floor you could see were gum was on the floor they did not get up. There was a trap door in the wall that was held in by a screw the power outlet face was broke the walls had places that had no paint it was flat out gross. But could not move to another hotel we only stayed for two nights. WOULD NEVER GO BACK AGAIN.

Stayed here three nights. Beds were comfy. A/C was cold. Shower was hot. My only complaint was that my window faced the ocean, and when the sun came up it got pretty bright in there, but for some, that's a major plus. Had a little kitchenette with stove top and fridge. Breakfast was good. There was a little gym there, but never used it. Easy access to the beach. Saw a sting-ray, horseshoe crabs, ghost crabs, and some other sort of pinchy crab. Not too touristy of an area. Easy access to Norfolk and Virginia Beach areas.

This hotel spoiled me. From the 1st step inside the lobby, I was greeted by a rather large man, that had a personality and kindness as radiant as he was. He was kind as was the general manager, that happened to be in the lobby as well. They were accommodating in every way. As a Traveling professional, I look for quality , pricing, safety, a view of something local to get my mind off of work, a healthy breakfast and a great nights sleep. All of these things were found here. From the Desk attendant, the General Manager, the house keeper, breakfast attendant, just all around, this place astounded me. The price was so affordable for being on the Jewel of the Chesapeake, the view of the water, the 10's of Dolphins that were jumping, playing and feeding feet from the shore were so entertaining. I walked past the beautiful pool and also overheard vacationers talking of how awesome they were blessed to find a hotel with so many amenities for the price. thank you, I will return. ps; right on the beach, close to shopping, airport and the tourists attractions.

This was a very interesting location, motel style hotel that had its avarage services and amenities very limited. Beds were not comfortable if you were a side sleeper, amenities like the ice machine were broken that required extra walking. Room was clean but decor was a bit dark due to limited lighting. Pool was out of season even though it was humid 85 degrees. Staff were nice and fast with check in and outs. Breakfast had variety but limited healthy items. Overall clean and functional, just a bit overpriced because they were on the beach even though of its limited amenities. Please shop around for better deals if Virginia is your destination.

This is a nice property with lots of rooms and a huge courtyard (parking lot). Behind the hotel, i.e., between the back of the hotel and the beach (a really nice beach) is a large "patio," with picnic tables and a number of lounge chairs. There is also a swimming pool there, but it was closed for the season. We were in a nice sized 2-queen room, with a kitchen (full sized refrig, stove, microwave). The room had a real closet, with a door. When I entered the breakfast room, my first reaction/thought was that this was too small. By the time we got our food, a couple of tables had opened up and the crowds around the food had eased up a bit. Breakfast? You name it, they had it. Bacon and eggs for hot food, two kinds of yogurt.....really everything. I must tell you about what I'll call a "hazard" in the room. The box springs are supported by two iron bars, which extend out, 2 on each side of the bed. If the box spring if perfectly centered, no problem. If not centered, e.g., off an inch, then a piece or two of iron sticks out. I scraped my leg on these several times, the last time it broke my skin. I've been to two BWs since my stay here over a month ago. In these hotels, the iron bar was bent upwards to support the box spring and wasn't a "hazard."

I've stayed at this Best Western a few times and every time was awesome. The staff are very accommodating with any questions or problems you might have. The rooms and grounds are very very clean. The beach is RIGHT there. Just a very awesome place.

The staff at this resort is among the best i have encountered. From the time we arrived to the time we left they were great. Hotel was very nice . very nice breakfast in the morning. Rooms were very nice.

We traveled to funeral and they provided us with a separate location to meet and greet out of town guests. They did not charge for the room and even provided cleaning service at the completion. Room are clean but the hotel could use some updating and new windows.

We have stayed at this Best Western several times over the past year and a half. The last 2 stays we have experienced housekeeping issues. We expect housekeeping everyday when we stay at a hotel. We would like our beds made and clean towels left. When we stayed here back in December for 4 nights, 2 of those days we came back to the hotel late in the evening and our room had not been touched. On this stay, we left the room at 10:30 am and returned at 5:30 and the room was not cleaned. Someone entered the room during the day and left a stack of clean towels on our unmade beds but no one returned to finish the room. On the first day of our stay, the breakfast area was really a mess. I felt sorry for the gentlemen who was in charge. Apparently a staff member did not show up and he jumped in to help. Although the food was fine, the entire area was just not clean, he didn't have the time to clean up the area and restock all the food. I don't know if staffing is an issue but with the season starting these issues need to be addressed. I was told the hotel was sold out on Saturday and that is why they hadn't gotten to my room. Well, I am really sorry but that is not a good excuse for me. All staff we encountered were more than helpful and very friendly and the hotel is located in a great location right on the beach. The rooms in the tower, have 2 queen size beds and a nice balcony looking out over the bay. When I complained at check-out there was a lady behind me checking out and she hadn't received clean towels at all! So I guess I should have been thankful I got towels. I would like to recommend this hotel but with these housekeeping issues I just don't know if I feel comfortable with a recommendation. We come to Norfolk quite frequently to visit family, I just don't know if I will return.

We were very pleased with everything about this hotel and loved it's location on the Bay. The staff was good and the value too. We love the rewards that BW offers. The hotels which offer breakfast are always very good.

Issue one: Problem with room type. Was forced to spend an additional $60 per night to get the room that was originally reserved. Although disappointing, mistakes happen Issue two: first room we were shown was not adequately cleaned, besides finding personal belongings of the previous occupant, there was dirt, crumbs on the couch and what looked to be throw up on the carpet. The second room we were shown had a sticky kitchen floor. Due to the lateness of the hour and my family's restlessness, we decided to stay with it. Not acceptable. Issue three: hotel elevators are hard to get to & are not hard for families carrying luggage. Minor issue Issue four: only one person available at the front desk at any given time, in a property with 85 rooms. Check in is hectic. Issue five: sofa bed did not have the required blankets, pillows. Was forced to wait for the front desk to deliver. Minor issue. Issue six: main living area light fixture did not work. Minor problem Issue seven: quiet!!!! We arrived at the hotel at about 6:30 on a spring day. Nightfall wasn't until 8:30. While my wife and I brought in our luggage and took a few minutes to set up the room, my four year old ran around outside our room. (supervised by his 14 year old sister). Front desk was sent by "management" to inform us that due to "unacceptable noise" we will be asked to leave, lose our money, and be fined should the behavior continue. There's nothing like tip-toeing around a hotel room to ruin a family vacation. If you stay with young family beware. This establishment isn't for you. On the plus side, beds were comfortable, we had access to a Keurig machine with premium coffee, the WIFI worked as Advertised ( our room was close to the lobby, if that makes a difference). Private access to the beach is probably the main reason to come to this hotel. Absolutely gorgeous.

Nice clean room, with a balcony overlooking the bay. Able to watch ships and boats passing, as well as airplanes landing. Sanitized TV remote a plus. Breakfast could have been better and warmer. Front end staff, especially Jason, were exceptional. Good location. Near Interstate, shopping and restaurants. Easy access to downtown.

Very worn hotel. Staff is friendly and try to be helpful. The view is fantastic, the bed was comfortable. The price is high for the quality of the room and breakfast, but I will stay there again in the future as it is close to family.

I haven't stayed in a BW for probably 20 years. This one is better than what I remember. It's a motel, with your door opening up to the parking lot. My room looked dated, but it was clean. The bed looked newer and was comfortable. The breakfast is typical of what you'd find these days at a Fairfield or Hampton Inn. There is not much seating in the breakfast room. The doors to the rooms are hard to shut and make a lot of noise. I heard my neighbors, both upstairs and next door, every time they opened them. I'm sure they heard me, as well. Also, it was difficult to engage the deadbolt. They allow pets, and there was a dog next door that barked sometimes. The floor above my bed was really creaky, but thankfully, the person eventually stopped walking around and went to sleep. In spite of all these noises, I slept a lot better than I thought I would, probably because the bed was quite comfortable. Don't forget a hair dryer. I haven't traveled with one in years, as the places I stay usually have them in the room. I probably could have asked to borrow one at the desk. In spite of the noise, this was a fairly nice place to stay for one night. I'm not sure I'd want to stay for longer. If I did, I think I'd bring earplugs. I feel like it's a decent value for the money and the staff are friendly and kind. It's on the beach, but as that was not the purpose of my trip, I didn't go there and can't comment on it.

Nice hotel in a nice location. Right on the beach. A little dated decor but clean. Very good hot breakfast. One bedroom suite was roomy with King Bed in one room and pullout queen in other living room but a little odd that no door in between. Enjoy!!

We stayed one night on the beach. We had a wonderful view and watched the sunrise the next day... beautiful. We were visitedva grandson in the Navy. The location was excellent and we enjoyed many sights.

The hotel is in a great location right on the beach. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good, and the best part is they allow dogs. Room was clean and basic, only draw back is they need a better fan in the shower as it gets steamed up too fast.

Beautiful view. Private balcony was amazing. Easy to find hotel. Joe was very courteous and knowledgeable about the surrounding area. The rooms were clean, and breakfast was included. We will be visiting again next week!

This was a difficult trip for me. On top of all I was personally experiencing I did not want a pet friendly room. Tammy was amazing and quickly and kindly found me the the best room for my time there.

I stayed here at Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn and Suites on the Chesapeake Bay side of Norfolk. It is my 2nd time here, first being a few years ago. I enjoyed my stay again. Nice room, with beautiful view. Staff was courteous and efficient. The morning breakfast was adequate and delicious. Place was quiet and comfortable.

I came to Norfolk VA, because my son is in NROTC and they visited the base here. I came but wanted a separate vacation since there are a number of interesting sites in the area. I wanted to stay on the beach and looked around. I also didn't want to pay a fortune. I chose this hotel because the reviews weren't bad and the pictures seemed nice. The room I had was on the third floor overlooking the beach. It has a little balcony. I came in March during the off season, so the weather was cool. Since the room faced north, I didn't get any sun on the balcony. I would have preferred that in March, but during the season, it would be an advantage in keeping the room cool. I rated this average because the room was OK, but small. The door to the balcony and the main door leaked air, and since it was windy, this was a problem. The main door had to be slammed to lock correctly. There was a smell of paint, but again, they were probably getting ready for the season. The beds weren't very comfortable so I didn't sleep well. The staff was professional, courteous and very helpful and get a 5 star from me. This is a good place if you are looking for something moderately expensive on the beach.

We stay here every year, sometimes twice a year. Close to Naval Bases, Norfolk Virginia, Close To Virginia Beach Virginia. Very Nice Rooms, Morning Breakfasts are delightful. Service is Quite Good. The Only Bad Mark, the Internet reception in rooms is Sporadic at Best.

Came in after dark so it wasn't until the next morning that we could see the view which included a pod of dolphins swimming by. Staff recommended a wonderful Italian restaurant after we arrived. The breakfast in the morning was as good a free breakfast as you can get. It does look like they are working to improve and update the rooms.

So my husband and I spent our Valentine's weekend in Norfolk at the Best Western Plus. I really enjoyed the experience. It was completely different from any other Best Western that we have stayed at. It's shaped more like a motel. so all the amenities of the establishment are spread out. For instance we were on the second floor to the right of the office. To the left of the office are where the breakfast and fitness rooms are. Somewhere behind the office just before the Beach area, is the laundry room. Which was kind of dark in that area. The staff was quite helpful. The maintenance man, housekeeping, the two different shifts at the front desk, and the breakfast attendees, were wonderful. Because this is a motel style building, you come in from outside directly into your room. That goes for the beachside as well. You can tell that they have been and still are renovating. It had all the expected room stuffs. I especially appreciated that the sink was not in the bathroom with the toilet. It had a nice "kitchen" area. The chair in the living room has a pull-out foot ottoman which was kind of cute. The mattresses are quite firm. I have not found an ice maker yet. And the drinks and snacks that they sell at the front desk area are ridiculously expensive! So boycott that and go to 7-Eleven. The door handles are a little wobbly, but it doesn't seem as though someone's tried to break in, it just seems as though the maintenance person who put the door knobs on could use some extra training. The fitness room is quite small it has, a Bowflex Style thing, a treadmill, a sit-down bicycle, a regular stationary bicycle, and one of those elliptical type machines, a TV and towels. If you're only there for a few days, it's good enough to get the job done. The breakfast room is open from 06 to 10, but coffee and tea are served 24hr at the front desk. You need your key to get into any external amenity. The breakfast was pretty good, it was replenished often, they just didn't have a lot of options to choose from. It was a couple steps up from a continental breakfast. The room was quite small, but they are actively extending the breakfast and seating area. One reason I give this 4 stars is because every time we came to our room our key didn't work and we had to get it reactivated. I personally think it has something to do with it's being an outside lock. Weather just does bad things to electronics. The other reason is because it's a Best Western Plus Hotel, but it looks like a Motel because of the way it's set up. 3rd, even though the rooms are pretty well insulated from the outside, there was still a bit of a draft coming in from somewhere. Maybe around the window, or through the heater. I don't know, but the heater cycled on and off a lot and it was loud. 4th, We could hear what was going on in the Next room, we could hear the dog bark in the room below us. I imagine in the summer time this place would be quite loud and difficult to find rest. All in all I think that was a nice Hotel; not to expensive and they work hard to meet up with the brand, I believe. I could go back again....in the off season.

My wife,dog and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn and Suites it was very unpleasant to say the least. I would give negative stars if possible. Upon our arrival the floor was filthy so on the second day we brought a broom from our house because the military was packing us out due to me transferring across the country and my wife swept the floor there was a pile of dirt and sand(pic attached).Even after she swept the floor it was still filthy we had to wear flip flops around the hotel room so our feet would not get dirty. The shower drain would not drain my wife and I had to take showers in ankle deep water, the sink would not drain either. To top off our experience at the Best Western last night we stayed there I used the ice machine on the 3rd deck and I saw a black spec in an ice cube and through it away. We had 4 drinks from the same ice and when we awoke the next morning to a melted ice bucket with black specs in it(pic attached)I spoke to a lady at the desk upon check out and told her all of this she told me she had to speak to the GM and would call me to let me know what kind of a discount they could give us but I don't see that happening. Needless to say my wife and I will never stay at a Best Western again!!!

Wonderful hotel, terrific staff. If you enjoy a cozy place to stay with an incredible view of the Bay this is your place! Nicely located by the interstate and nearby places to eat, very quiet and clean.

This hotel has the friendliest staff ever. I don't think I met anybody that did not say a warm hello and ask how I was doing. The rooms are clean and the breakfast is always good. A nice variety of food.

This place is old. But it looks to have been painted recently. rooms are moderate for the price. beach view out ours. Employees were friendly and easy to talk to. rooms do have older style heater/ Ac units but it worked as should. Door to patio did have a large gap so little drafty but still do able for the price. I will stay here again since location for us was very close to our destination.

This was the second time we stayed at this property, first time off season. It is a great location to visit during the off season. We actually stayed for a Navy deployment out of Naval station Norfolk. We did like this location and will probably return. My one and only complaint is with housekeeping. I don't feel that if we stay in our hotel room until 12 noon then leave for the day that we shouldn't get housekeeping services or have to request them. Our first day there, we kept our do not disturb sign out until approximately 12 noon. When we left I happened to see the housekeeping staff. I walked over and introduced myself, told them what room I was in and that we were leaving for the day. I also let them know that I am not fussy at all, we would just like our beds made and some fresh towels. When we returned after 11pm, our room was taken care of. The next day we left around the same time, I didn't see any housekeeping staff but didn't feel like I needed to let them know again that we were leaving, we had taken the do not disturb off both times when we left this time when we returned around midnight, our room hadn't been taken care, beds were not made, trash was not pulled, toilet paper was not restocked. Then the following day, we left around 11:20, I had made a complaint the night before, so when housekeeping saw me that next morning they walked over. I told them my room wasn't taken care of. When we returned it was taken care of that time. Housekeeping should make rounds to rooms of guests who might decide to sleep in past 10am.

Great place to stay summer and winter (too cold for the ocean and pool). Housekeeping is a little slow. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was good and quick. I would recommend this hotel and stay here again.

I needed a place to stay while work was being done inside of my apartment. I had asked for a possibility of a very early check-in since I didn't have anywhere to go stay during the day and it's pretty chilly outside now. The woman at the front desk was wonderful. She helped me out with my situation without hesitation and was very nice. I've stayed here before and it's a go to for my family to stay at when they are in town visiting. The customer service is always excellent, the rooms are always clean, and the beach is great. I highly recommend.

Beautifully located property. Nice rooms and very clean. Super employees! Dog walk is fenced next to the beach equipped with dog bags and trash. Beach lovers with dogs will love this property. Would definitely stsy here again.

I visit Norfolk 6-8 times per year to spend time with my son's and stayed at most the hotels in Oceanview. Sands and Suites is by far the friendliest and cleanest. The employees have went above and beyond every time I stay. They've went as far as helping my son with his basketball practice by loaning me cones for dribbling drills and much much more. Thank you Sands and Suites. See you guys next month

We got a great rate, esentially because we called the hotel directly after 5:00 p.m. The room wasn't huge, but certainly big enough for two of us. It's called a suite, but I'd advised against having more than 3 adults in the room. There's a "sitting area" with a separate TV, a writing desk, and pull-out sofa. The staff was courteous and helpful. The place shows its age in small ways, but the benefits outweigh the minor issues by far. Furthermore, it's right on the ocean!

We stayed 1 night to see our son that is stationed in Norfolk. The hotel sits right on the beach with excellent views from the rooms. The room was clean and beds were comfortable. The afternoon and morning desk staff were great! We definitely recommend this hotel and will definitely stay here again.

We enjoy staying here. Love the view and sound of the waves. Love that they are dog friendly. But, the price charged upon check out was not the price quoted. The clerk that gave us the quote denied the quite despite having documentation. And, 4 days later, the manager still has not returned our calls. We would like to stay there more frequently, but unfortunately the administration ruins the experience.

The breakfast was a slightly better version to the standard BW breakfast. The front desk staff were friendly. The room had a microwave, safe, and a balcony looking over the ocean. A little pricey for one night but you get what you pay for. I'd stay there again.

The hotel over looks the Chesapeake Bay and always has the best view in town. Once checked in, off to the beach for a stroll then its out to dinner or just making something in the room. This hotel is central to pretty much anyplace around in under 30 min. Lots of channels on the TV and really fast WiFi makes this a 5 star for all travelers.

third time is the last try. the room smelled terrible and was not clean. i was surpised because i always expected best western and windom to be great hotels. i would not recomend this place to anyone. i travel for work, now i know which place to avoid unfortuantely

The room was ok. The staff was great and friendly. Complimentary breakfast wa provides and there was direct access to the beach. The location was great, close enough to the downtown area and other landmarks.

We originally asked if we could change our room to the first floor. I just couldn't handle the stairs! The manager had already agreed but said we have an elevator. We couldn't find the elevator! I said we are fine then, he said well do you want to go higher for the view? So he moved us up to the fourth floor. He also personally showed me where the elevator was located. The only thing that could be considered a con was there was an odor in the frig but it still worked and the freezer kept ice cream frozen!

Can't review the property as when we TRIED to check-in on a confirmed reservation we made by calling the Hotel Front Desk directly at (757) 583-2621, at least one week prior to arrival, the type of room we paid for and reserved - Pet Friendly, King Suite with Ocean View and Balcony, wasn't available! Front Desk, including the Manager (Joe) started giving us all sorts of excuses why the above Suite they confirmed we had reserved, wasn't available, trying blame "Goggle" (once again, I called the Hotel directly for our reservation) and that they never confirm any customer will get a Ocean View Suite with Balcony, when calling the front desk, and especially when making a reservation through Joe, who BTW, I never spoke with him) Meanwhile, there were two other couples that had already tried to check-in before me, that had Reservation Problems as well, with their Room type they also Booked, not being available HORRIBLE HOTEL RESERVATION MANAGEMENT and Front Desk Support! We will be contacting Best Western's Corporate office regarding above

Room was clean, fairly quiet with A/C running, nice comfortable bed, clean bathroom. Not a bad deal, Great beachfront location, plus pool. EXCELLENT breakfast...plenty of fresh fruits, waffles, eggs...

I stay for one night with my family and we have a amazing time at the hotel, great breakfast, beutiful beach location, good parking spot, friendly staff, nice pool size, is a friendly pet hotel, the front desk staff are very nice and have a cool water and ice tea and fresh made coffe

I chose this hotel based on reviews that stated that it was a nice hotel. First of all, it is in a very run down area. The police were across the street on a couple different occasions. The hotel itself has been redone in different areas. Our room had a new paint job and new carpet but the beds were horribly hard. One of the scariest things was the door to the balcony. The door did not latch properly. It looked like someone had a homemade plate for the latch to go into. The balcony door, even when locked, could be pushed partially open. I felt that someone could potentially break in the room through that door. During our stay there was a group of people there who decided to have a huge party. Not sure if all were guests or if one had a room and the rest were just party guests. LOUD AND ANNOYING. Also, all of the party guests decided to use the pool that we paid for. The private beach could have been nice but wasn't due to the fact that no one takes a rake and cleans up the beach to keep it nice for the guests. All kinds of debris. Ocean debris and guest debris. The beach was private and most guests didn't use it. Pool was warm but the railing going down into the pool was very loose. I can't forget to mention breakfast!!!!! The breakfast room is two guest rooms made into a breakfast room. There may be 6 tables. The place is always packed and flies everywhere. Very sparse pickings also. The setup makes it that if someone in line wants waffles everyone else is waiting for the line to move. It takes 2 minutes to make a waffle so the line just gets backed up. The waffle makers should be along another wall so that the line moves quickly. Not thought out very well. The hallways are dark and you just worry about who is around the corner. Also, flooring on hallways, steps, etc needs to be repainted. Looks dirty. Trash cans all look dirty and always overflowing. We asked the girl at the desk for extra towels and she acted like she didn't want to get them for us. She said how many. There were three of us standing there so obviously at least three. She gave us two. My advice is not to stay here. Spend a little extra money and stay right in Virginia Beach. If I had it to do over, I would have spent the extra money for a better hotel and I am sure that the hotel experience would have been a lot better making the whole trip better. My rant is almost over but I can't forget the burrito that was in the parking lot for 2+ days and still there when we left. Please choose a Virginia Beach hotel!

We typically would stay by the Virginia Beach board walk but decided to try out this hotel this time. The property is a little bit more into the bay, has direct beach access, so we were hoping for some good fishing on site. GOOD: - It's right on the beach that you can access any time. It's not too crowded on the beach either - The suite we got has a kitchen, which is nice. However, it's not automatically equipped with kitchen-wares; you'd have to ask the front desk to give them to you. Also you'd have to bring your own plates and cups if you unit has a kitchen (not a big deal but good to know in advance) - The free breakfast is a nice feature. The dining space is a little bit small and it could get a little bit crazy on weekends - The staff seemed nice and helpful. We had an issue with the wifi for the whole entire stay, which the contract IT company was not able to fix, but the front desk fairly gave us a price adjustment at check out CONS: - The room we got was a little bit dated. Carpet is older and had some odor. The AC unit is old and loud. It looks like they are doing some renovation to the whole property so maybe things could be better in the future. - If you're into fishing, this location doesn't seem to be a good spot for on-site fishing, since the water is pretty shallow. Luckily we found a near-by pier, located in a community park, where you can do fishing & crabbing without paying any fee. - Swimming on the beach during this time of the year is hit or miss, depending on the tide. Since this hotel is further into the bay, coupled with the shallow water, the water tend to get really warm around this time of the year. It looks like there could be some red algae that clouds the water a little bit. Overall, the hotel is decent and reasonably priced. The location with beach access is nice for the price.

Not a 5-star hotel, but serves its purpose. The rooms need a bit updating, as well as the exterior, but for the price during peak season, it's a nice place on a private beach. Pool is nice, and overall the rooms are clean. Beds were a little hard for my liking. Jason, the manager, is excellent. Very friendly and helpful, and really makes an effort to go above and beyond. Breakfast was sufficient. Nothing too fancy, but enough.

This is a great place to escape as a relaxing getaway or vacation with your family. The complainers on the reviews are the same people you meet along life's path that are never happy. Free breakfast, how do you complain about great eggs, delicious bacon, sausage gravy,waffles as many as you want, hot delicious coffee, fruit choices and lots more. Whiners complain about a crowed breakfast room. Its because the food is good and the friendly personnel .The pool is beautiful and well kept.Sandy beach is always nice and space for comfort. Variety of room choices and very reasonable rates. Linens have always been fresh and bed very comfortable during our many stays. If you request any needs the staff is at your door right away.We are very frequent guests for many years and will leave you with this thought. Book it & Enjoy!!

I visited here for 4 nights with my family from New York. Last vacation before school starts. Very comfortable. Nice pool and easy beach access to miles of beautiful beach. To my surprise, I booked a suite. We had a separate bedroom with a bathroom and tv, as well as 1 queen bed and a pull out couch and another tv. No arguing over who gets to watch what. Perfect for a family of 4. Our room had a small kitchenette which made it nice not having to spend a lot of money out for food. Close to a lot of shops and restaurants. Friendly front desk employees. Good breakfast, not much but just enough to start your day off right before hitting the pool, beach or just hanging out.

The room I was in which was 219 was HORRIFYING ! The linen is not the cleanest , I broke out in a rash which has never ever happens to me at any best western . House keepers need more work if they don't like they job don't work there.

I recently stayed at the Best Western Plus Holiday Sands Inn & Suites with my preschooler. Our room was great, with a separated living room area and bedroom with a king size bed. The beachfront was very quiet and the pool was clean. I would stay here again.

The two desk agents who worked the night I checked in were awesome!! I really wanted to get their names but never had the opportunity too. I know we bombarded them with a lot of question as we've never been to the area and they were both very patient and understanding. We had a suite and the room was very hot, but the desk cleaned a fan and brought it to us and let us use it our whole stay!! The breakfast was decent, but I definitely recommend going earlier because after about 8:30, it was always packed. I loved the private beach! The pool seemed chilly, but it did rain a lot so I didn't mind much. Before leaving, we approached the GM about a couple of issues we had during our stay. He was very polite, an active listener, and offered wonderful customer service. I couldn't of asked for better hospitality. He did inform us they are currently going under renovations and we definitely plan on coming back after they are done! The only reason I didn't give a 5 is because housekeeping needs some work, but we expressed our concerns and feel confident the new GM will make some good changes!

My daughter and I stayed here last week (Mon-Thur) and just LOVE this place! The location is far away from the frenetic tourist area in Virginia Beach, the dunes are lovely, yet small enough for a short walk to the beach. The waves (wavelets?) are tiny, and perfect for babies and toddlers. I'm 57 as of 2018, but the beach is just no fun if there aren't toddlers and young children to play with! The pool has a beautiful view of the dunes, and we were here right after the dragonflies had matured, and they were swarming above the pool area - AMAZING!!!! SO beautiful!

The staff is extremely friendly & accommodating. I loved the variety of cold, flavored water served in the lobby. It is very pet friendly! Private beach was perfect for us! King bed was so comfortable!

The hotel was easy to find, parking was good. The view from our room was GREAT. We were on the 5th floor in a suite with 1 king bed and a pull out sofa. The room was super comfortable - even the sofa bed was comfy.

We come here every year for vacation. John and the front desk staff is so kind and helpful. The room has been redone and are clean and fresh. We get to bring our dogs with us. The breakfast is the best. And I love the beach.

So many things to do while visiting!! Swimming and fishing are perfect here. The water is much easier here than Virginia Beach for children. Watching dolphins from the balcony and exploring the many points of interest. The motel is not fancy but affordable and the breakfast is great!!

My family of 5 (children aged 8 and under) stayed here for an entire week. The staff was absolutely amazing and very accommodating. The facility itself is very clean and attractive. The rooms are spacious. The pool area was an 8/10 as it could've been kept a little cleaner though this was mostly due to guests being inconsiderate and leaving their trash behind. The hotel offers private beach access and even offers free beach chairs for its guests. The breakfast was a full one complete with waffles, bacon/ sausage, eggs, hot and cold cereal, pastries, juices, coffee, fruit, etc. We are very much looking forward to returning!

We picked this hotel because they accepted pets. We tried to check in at 3:15pm was told to come back at 4:00pm which I knew they have a guarantee check in at 4:00pm. We understood so we left and came back at 4:00pm, and was told again our room wasn't ready due to the rain. We had to wait almost 2 hours with our dog with no where to go, it was to hot to stay in the car so we had to wait outside the hotel with the wind blowing the rain on us. The front desk worker was so rude to us, I think her name was Kleo. We asked for a oceanview room, but when we got to our room, we could barely see the ocean due to the sand dune in front of us. We was told that we had to stay on the first floor because of our dog; which was never mentioned when we made our reservation in MAY. Speaking of dogs, they are NOT allowed on the beach between 10:00am until 6:00pm, which is hotel policy. The free breakfast was good. We always say if you can walk around barefoot in your hotel room without getting your feet dirty it's a clean hotel , but our feet got dirty we had to wear socks. The beach was not busy though. The housekeepers was nicer than the front desk workers.

No issues for us at all. We stayed in 752 on the tower side and had a King with a kitchenette and balcony. Great view, loved the balcony! Kitchen and cooking supplies had what we needed, we brought some basics (s&p, oil, knives, paper towels, etc), no issues there. Shower had THE BEST water pressure and bathroom and room in general was nice and clean, nice fluffy towels too. The bed was super comfy, I normally have trouble sleeping in hotels but no issues here either. Room seemed a little dated but because of all of the above, who cares! We didn't use the pool but it seemed to stay busy. The beach was awesome, not crowded at all and nice sandy bottom which I loved. Staff very helpful and we Ubered to nearby restaurants for dinner, didn't eat the breakfast provided since we love going to different breakfast places. Nearby places we ate at that were great, Razzo and Captain Groovy's for dinner, Smokey Bones BBq for lunch and Sandfiddler for breakfast. Happy folks over here for time we spent at this BW. PS I looked at places on the Oceanfront and couldn't justify the prices. After seeing pics of the crowds there I wouldn't dream of booking on the Oceanfront as this beach experience is exactly what I'd rather have any day over that madness and at a much lower rate!

We had some issues with rooms but the staff was excellent to remedy issues. The rooms are large and mostly clean. Carpet very wet from storm day before. Also leak in ceiling fan creating a horrible odor. The staff was quick to find us a different room. The staff was great. They rooms were a little rough due to a storm the day before, but ultimately clean and tidy. The price is a little high for the room quality. It was a beachfront hotel, but sheesh the price was high the night we stayed. The breakfast was alright- the attendants tried very hard to keep up with demand. Seemed like everyone was coming in at the same time- very small room for the breakfast option.

The property itself was just "OK". The ocean view we expected ended up being quite ridiculous thanks to the poor room layout. The window overlooking the beach was located in the kitchenette area..so we had to go stand in there to look outside. Also the sun shining in at 6am through crappy white blinds was not amusing. The breakfast room was so crowded and noisy we ended up avoiding it. One if the worst hotel breakfast situations I've encountered. This could all be overlooked... but the noise issue was unbearable. We had a teenage neighbor who made SO much noise... sounded like he was punching walls ir throwing things - we complained at least 2x a day for 3 days and nothing improved. 2 nights in a row, this kid fought with someone - screaming and HITTING - we called the front desk multiple times, threatened to call police, and NO ONE DID ANYTHING. we couldn't sleep for two night bc this psychotic family was yelling and physically assaulting each other and the hotel staff did NOTHING. These people should have been asked to leave... but instead, we were told they were "handling" it. Clearly, they did not. Our daughter ended up in bed witg us every night bc the noises scared her so much. Upon checkout, when I mentioned the noise issue, I was told: "Next time, just tell us!"... We did. We did tell you. Multiple times. Unacceptable. We would have slept better in the car.

Let's start out by saying the good stuff-close to the beach and the beach was never crowded. Breakfast was fine, but often very crowded, they could use more room. The breakfast variety was good and changed daily. Our room was clean, but worn out and old. The bedroom did not have a door on it-strange. The bed was extra hard but the shower was really good. The outside of the motel was dirty and not well kept. The pool area was kind of trashy and sloppy. There was a light inside the pool that was hanging by a dangling wire. The lights never came on in the pool at night, but ugh!! Not safe at all. I realize that hotels can get a lot of money because they are so close to the beach, but come on Best Western, take a little pride in yourself and put some of the money back into the hotel. Your guest will thank you!

Great weekend getaway for my family.We have been staying here for about 15 yrs.normally twice a summer.Hotel is in the middle of renovations.Love the location on the Chesapeake Bay with close access to everything.Very friendly staff.

We had stayed at the BW in Norfolk last June and thought it was a great place. This year lived up to our memories. On the Chesapeake; very nice pool; breakfast is wonderful; staff is great and Joe DeBeasso (Guest Service Manager) does a superb job with staff and guests. It's beachfront so there's a lot of sand. LOL.

We stayed three nights in this hotel at the end of May. We could tell the hotel was undergoing a renovation, and it seemed the interior of our room had already been renovated. There was renovation work ongoing during our stay, but I don't feel it detracted from our stay at all. The staff was friendly and the location was great for our taste. It is not in a super touristy area so it was quiet and calm. If you like to be in the middle of everything, this may not be the hotel for you. Our room was clean, the breakfast was truly a full breakfast we could start our day with, and we felt we had a great experience for the price we payed.

We have been staying at this facility for the past four years now and the overall experience has definitely improved. The staff is very accommodating and they seem to be making improvements to their facility and service from year to year. We look forward to our stay there next year.

I have to say I am more than satisfied. Staff is always friendly and willing to . Management is responsive and professional. Rooms are always clean and well kept. Security has not been a problem. Rooms are not paper thin and amazingly quiet. Views of the bay are beautiful. Easy access to clean beach. I highly recommend this location for business or family fun.

Staff was great at check in and check out and also recommended a place to order food from took the time to bring coupons to the room. Room was nice, beds were comfortable,shower had good water pressure, great view of the water also this hotel was very quiet. Only thing negative was the breakfast. The eggs were good and the coffee and juice but the sausage was terrible.

There is nothing "Plus" about this hotel. In fact, I would give it a negative rating if possible! It does NOT compare to any of the BW "Plus" properties I have stayed in recently. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the front-row seat to the Chesapeake Bay. The hotel's curb appeal needs serious tending - a new paint job, a deep clean of the parking lots and breezeways, a mow around the "dog walk" and new pool / outdoor patio area. The maintenance staff seems to pile all sorts of odds and ends around the property - Clean that up! The hotel's layout is split between a two-story "inn" and a four-story "tower of suites". My room was on the first floor of the tower. The hotel room's interiors are OK with clean sheets and towels. The bathroom is also clean (Thank God). Unfortunately, the furniture and amenities leave little to be desired. Old, chipped, torn and rusting. The laminate floor collects EVERYTHING. Lastly, I am NOT impressed by the customer service shown by staff at this hotel. The receptionists showed little professionalism upon check-in (too busy chatting with each other) and the breakfast attendant looked unkempt. The staff put no pride in working at this property and it shows. I will never stay here again.

Good sized bedroom with King Sized bed and separate living room with sofa and lamps with a desk area also. Each room had its own large Flat screen LG TV. Room also included a Microwave and refrigerator. Water pressure was great and water was hot. Morning breakfast was very good with plenty to eat. Hotel had a large pool with a very large sunbathing area that included BBQ for cooking and a large private beach for all to use. Didn't get a chance to use the pool or beach, but will the next time I am there again.

We only stayed one night, however, we found the accommodations nice and the people friendly. We had a beautiful view of the water from our room, which was a plus. The breakfast that came with the room was great.

The Best Western Plus served the purposed needed of resting at night. The staff is wonderful, friendly and courteous. The rooms though need updating though functional. If you like us just used the room at night then no worries. While I took pictures, I did not stroll the beach area. Pool is open Memorial to Labor Day so we could not use it.

We spent only 2 nights and one day. Place was clean (sanitized remote!!) and good sized (double) we asked for a ground floor b/c of all our luggage. Still had a bit of ocean view over the dunes. We from higher floors must be breathtaking! reception was clean, service fast and good. WIFI worked great, outlets on the little desk and bedstand useful. On check out, they provide a “to go” bag wit water, apple, granola bar. Nice gesture!

It was a great weekend at the beach and we didn't have to drive to it. It was in our back yard. the staff and everyone there were so nice and accomadating. Breakfast was wonderful however the room is too small. And the to go bag on check out was wonderful. Good job.

We used to live in Ocean View - so staying there while visiting was important. The Best Western Holiday Sands was terrific. We had an ocean front room with a balcony. The room had a large plate glass window that gave us a fantastic view of the beach and ocean. At night we could see the lights from the bridge tunnel. The room was spacious, and very clean. The housekeeping staff were very helpful and so kind. Breakfast was really great, and the room was very large. This is an old motel. But it has been updated and is very clean. Planning more trips to the area now that we know a good place to stay. Ask for an oceanfront room with a balcony - you will not be sorry. The wifi worked great. The bath products were superior - I love the lemony smell. Towels were very nice.

The location sold this hotel choice to me. It is right on Chesapeake Bay. My room and balcony had a full, unobstructed view. The pool and patio below me had direct access to the beach. Only residential buildings (single family, apartments, condos) to the left and right. No commercial, including restaurants, in the immediate vicinity. A busy road, but I heard the waves, not the traffic. This is an older hotel, but I had a clean room with a very comfortable bed, microwave, refrigerator, dated but clean bathroom with plenty of hot water and good water pressure. The usual food in a breakfast room. A busy crew was here early in the season repairing damage from winter on a seafront and apparently about to repaint the whole building. General renovation and upgrading are also said to be underway. I did not want to be in a downtown hotel when I had the opportunity to be near the beach. This hotel was so well-located that I could get to downtown Norfolk and VA Beach very easily. I think this modest hotel in a very good beach location was a real find, and I will be back.

My wife and I had previously booked this hotel for a 5-day stay back in December 2014. At that time we got a great rate by booking through a discount website, but the trade-off was a tiny room at a time of year when the weather tends to be nasty. This more recent 11-day stay in April 2018 was also booked through a discount website, and although the rate was twice as much, the room was much better -- in fact, a 2-room suite with king-size bed, 2 TVs, 2 heating/cooling units, a substantial desk, and a hide-a-bed. Evidently, the hotel is in process of renovating many of the rooms and converting them to similar suites. (We learned that our 2014 room has now been converted to storage space!) The personnel (front desk, cleaning crew, and breakfast area) are all very friendly and accommodating. The complimentary hot breakfast has variety and abundance. Although the dining space is a bit cramped, especially on weekends in warmer weather, the hotel apparently has plans to expand it. (It will be interesting to see how they can pull that off while continuing to make the space available to guests.) The hotel has a fitness center with appropriate equipment, but for people like us who prefer fresh air and sunshine, both the beach and sidewalks are good for long walks or jogs. (The Pinewell neighborhood next to the Ocean View Golf Course is a great place to walk/jog, especially in spring.) Our only real complaint is noise: noisy weekend guests and an unexpected amount of road noise. (Even though the road has a closely observed speed limit of 35mph, something about the shape of the hotel seems to amplify the noise of passing vehicles.) We dealt with the noise by keeping the fan on. Also, the exhaust fan in the bathroom was ineffective and left the mirrors too fogged for shaving even after short showers. On the whole, though, we had a very pleasant stay and will certainly stay there again if we can get comparable rates.

Our check-in went very smoothly and we checked-in early so We could get to the Virginia Arts Festival. The manager was Pleasantville And gave us some names of local restaurants. Our suite was clean and Laid out nicely for 2 couples to share. There were separate rooms with 1 bathroom and a kitchenette. There was a nice patio and just a few steps to the beach. Breakfast was included and there was a nice selection of food.

The Best Western Hotel in Norfolk is a wonderful place to stay. The location is amazing and the service is excellent. I would highly recommend this hotel. This hotel has a private beach and a patio adjacent to the beach. We had a school trip to the beach and we all stayed in this hotel. Definitely will repeat.

My husband and I have always enjoyed staying at this location. A true gem of a location as well as staff we recognize time and time again, and who recognize us each time we come. This makes us feel like

we stayed here on the road trip from Columbia to New York, the view from the room was gorgeous, the room was basic , the staff were pleasant, it was nothing special but you could clearly see they are starting renovations

good, but old hotel, breakfast was great! construction going on and rooms were not reduced in price, this is my main complaint, the price, people were great. I don't have any more to say to meet the 200 min letters.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Location is great but does not look like a typical BW. It looked like a motel that BW bought and slapped their sign on. Beds were like sleeping on bricks. Tub did not drain-water was over your ankles in minutes and this is with the drain plug completely removed. When someone closes the door to their room, everyone nearby hears it. Room had an odd smell to it. Toilet sounded like a jet engine when flushed. Location and desk staff were the best things about it.

The guy working at the front desk implied that I was a prostitute simply because I was alone and had a local address. He even called my room a few minutes after I checked in. I left and asked for a refund but couldn't get one since I booked through Priceline. Shady business, I do not recommend!

Had a great stay here. Clean rooms, located well and the staff was exceptional. Beautiful view! Very accommodating with our preferences for view and an unexpected early departure. Highly recommend this motel for anyone looking for a nice place on the bay and close to all Norfolk and Hampton Roads offers.

The room had a defective bed with a pipe protruding that gave me a horrible gash which I now have to seek medical help for. The maid covered the defective piece with the dust ruffle so you could not see the piece but it was a long piece that clearly was sticking out an extra foot from the edge if the box spring.

I really enjoyed this hotel. (I booked through a 3rd party and my main concern was to be in the airport area during my stay) Upon my arrival I was a a little grumpy from a 6 hour drive. The Hotel receptionist that signed me in was extremely polite plus she signed me up for their rewards program. I was not expecting a full kitchen, an additional bedroom, sleep sofa nor an Ocean View!!!!! I was soo excited and relaxed at the same time...After Christmas with my family ..I stole the final night for myself to relax at the hotel and enjoy the Ocean view...Best vacation ever... Breakfast was great tooo..Bacon or sausage..eggs..home made waffles..fruit..cereal hot or cold..& soooo much more Thank you for your Hospitality!!!!!!

The staff was very Polite and Professional. The check-in and and check-out was quick and easy. The Maid service was efficient and accommodating. The Ladies in the Breakfast Room kept the dining area clean, organized and well stocked with fresh breakfast items. Overall, a most pleasant 5 day stay.

Private balcony on 5th floor, so I opened the door so I could hear the waves as I drifted off to sleep! I would have gone down to the beach, but it was pretty cold that night. Breakfast was good - waffles, eggs, cereal, bagels, juice...

We visit this Best Western at least once a year, some years twice. Very close to beaches, bases, and all types of food. Access to and from interstate highway is very easy. The breakfast here is also very tasty and filling. Highly Recommend this Best Western.

I have been going hear for 30 years first visit was with my wife and kids when they were infants now there grown and have there own now me and my wife travel now with our dogs lots of memories hear for us but since we only travel with our 2 dogs now they say there pet friendly but they can only go out to the bath room and that's it they are not allowed anywhere else on the property I don't consider this place pet friendly at all so if your traveling with pets don't stay hear .

Excellent facility over all with great customer service. The rooms are freshly done and VERY clean. That said please update the Kitchebettes and light the stairways. Fix elevator and please thank your housekeepers for a job well done!

This is the second time we stayed here. It was clean and easy to get to. Breakfast was good and the staff was always pleasant. We will always use this hotel if we need it. It is very close to our son's home.

Our first day, we enjoyed watching a pod of dolphins swim by. Loved waking up and looking out at the water. The entire hotel hotel staff was very friendly and make us feel very welcome. We have stayed at this location about 7 times - always over the Thanksgiving weekend. The buildings are in the process of being renovated and updated. By summer, theyshoud be awesome!

I've enjoyed three nights to date at this Best Western. Each time has been restful and comfortable. The staff has always been excellent. I particularly liked the view of Chesapeake Bay during one visit. I hope my employment continues to place me in this hotel.

I chose this hotel for my wedding night because of its location on the beach. Driving up on the street side was a little underwhelming for my new bride, but that all changed when we walked into the room. The king sized bed in the suite was very comfortable and the view from the balcony was amazing. We were able to watch the sunrise over the Chesapeake Bay with dolphins swimming by. Our choice of a romantic walk on the beach was a perfect way to wind down from the wedding. Thank you and your staff for making our first night as a married couple so very special.

Checked in to an ocean view room for 2 nights. It may have faced the ocean, but there was no window. When we opened the door, the musty smell hit us in the face. Changed rooms. It did have a beautiful ocean view with a lovely beach but again smelled nasty and was very old and not well kept. We did not stay there.

My stay at the holiday sands has always been like home I woke to see the dolphins playing in the surf and a beautiful sunrise. The staff and the surroundings while staying current takes me to a more simpler time.

Great and beautiful location. The beach behind the hotel is great. But the hotel is old and shabby. The room smelled like someone had been smoking in it. The lobby is nice but the rooms and exterior appear very old. The staff is not friendly.

the heater/ac fan made a lot of noise when running and they did some 1st floor concrete finish work in the late afternoon which limited access to our room. They could have put us in the other building.

Great place the stay. Excellent service and caring, helpful staff. The rooms and facilities are very clean and comfortable. Lovely view of the bay in the tower building. Excellent amenities including full free breakfast. Always delicious.

This hotel was right on the beach front. We were given a downstairs room with a balcony view. The beds were so comfortable and services was more than I expected. I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We had a pet with us and it was very convenient to be on the first floor as well as have an area special for the dogs.

The hotel is in a great location. My family and I loved the beach access. We had a room facing the parking lot so obviously that's a bit lackluster. The room was pretty outdated but huge! Everything was clean in our room. The continental breakfast was great and had a lot of options. We would stay here again!

We have stayed at this location on multiple occasions and have enjoyed this hotel every time. The hotel being right off the water is a wonderful bonus. The staff are always extremely courteous and helpful. I would suggest this particular hotel to all my family and friends.

This is a clean, spacious motel right on the beach! The room was clean, beds were firm & atmosphere was quiet. Entire property was clean & pleasant. We didn't pay extra for a view, but nice clean beach was 5 minutes away! We would stay here again

The rooms are outdated when it comes to their carpet and furniture. The rooms were clean. I had the manager apartment room so it had two bedrooms, with a living room and kitchen. I liked the space but the room decor made it unpleasant. The front desk staff didn't really go out of their way to make our stay special. I requested a noon checkout but the front desk woman gave an attitude with a no and wouldn't give an explanation.

Location was very convienent. Room felt damp and had a pungent musty odor. Decor was old and threadbare. Lighting throughout was harsh. Air contidioner was extremely loud and woke me throughout the night. There were no incidents, but the layout of the buildings make for a desolate entry to your room at night... not sure what the surveillance is assure safety and security.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone. We always stay here if we are traveling to this area. The staff is accommodating, the breakfast is delicious and generous, everything in the room works efficiently. We particularly enjoy the balcony so that we can see the ocean. Even though the weather was not good this time, we still enjoyed viewing the outdoors.

The hotel is the same price as many more upscale hotels in the area but falls well short of the standard. We stayed there because they were pet friendly but we will be going elsewhere next time. The room did not feel clean, there was something slippery on the shower floor that had not been cleaned, I don't believe the bed runner and top linens had been washed. It felt musky and yuck in the room. Most staff were kind but a gentleman in management was not accomodating at all.

The room was clean and neat. We were there for 3 nights and they only came to make up the room once. The towels were replenished but the beds were left unmade. The room faced a parking lot and overlooked the garbage cans, which they picked up on Monday morning at 4:45 am with the beepers on and lights flashing. We stayed in a suite with a small kitchen and 2 bedrooms. There were no utensils/ pans or plates so the kitchen was useless except the refrigerator.

Room was clean and had a small kitchen. Our room was facing the pool and the ocean. A private beach was great. Not crowded and was a few steps away.Good free breakfast. Would highly recommend it. The price was not extremely high. Short drive to Virginia Beach.

The BW Holiday Sands Inn is at an excellent place(shore line) and wonderful check-in staff but the overall sense of the "Tower" and room looked warn out and in need a some new paint on walkways and walls. The room had an excellent overlook of the shore line but several small problems like a desk light acting like it had a short and the tub drain plug needing to be held open by a waded up wash rag. A little paint and updating of rooms could mean an excellent rating.

when you call for reservation they tell you one price and when you check out its another but that time your gone and see it on your credit card. Call speak to manager and his answer is it changes every day. BEWARE ASK DAILY WHAT THERE PRECIES are next day will be $50.00 higher and this was Wednesday and Thursday not even the weekend. Beach was nice, breckfast was good. Old needs lots of repairs, Dirty.

The girl at check in was amazing, the bed and pillows were super comfortable and clean, the room and pool were spotless. The neighborhood was a little scary but they seem to be doing a lot of new construction. Hopefully this will bring in more beach rentals and less "undesirables"

Pluses: this place is right on the beach, although many miles north of the active "Virginia Beach" area. Minuses is that it is on a busy road with nothing nearby. It's a worn hotel but a good place if you intend to spend your entire vacation on the beach BUT make sure that you get a room facing the beach. Other rooms are depressing.

great view of the beach, room comfortatble and clean got the room for the beach which was excellent on the day of our visit we were on the 5th floor and unfortunately the elevator wasn't working at checkout. I reported the problem to the staff and hopefully they fixed it before other guests checked out.

good for the price. rooms are small. beds are small. staff is pleasant and friendly. couple yards to the beach. pool was clean. chairs are available at desk for renting. complimentary coffee and juice i thought was nice. complimentary breakfast is always a nice touch.

I would be very wary of staying at this hotel, they do not change the sheets for every new guest, We traveled with our family and i noticed sand in my bed and asked for it to be changed, they said that they don't have any available sheets and gave me one flat sheet, I didn't notice that the kids bed was dirty, but it apparently was too, our two kids go some sort of boils, the next day, I am very upset and grossed out, will NEVER stay at a Best Western again.

Over priced for location & room availability. Off season prices for many other hotels were much more comparable. But choose to stay due to family location. Was very unhappy with room prices, even for AAA memebers.

!st 2 day elevator was unavailable cause they where painting,had to cary child with stroller in stairs,,no warnings,,no ac in second room,,Never cleaned rooms evan when asked directly,only left towels on bed,,hair everywhere in bathroom.Lock ripped out of door..Awful place to stay,got best suit they had hoping 4 better,,less then 1 star..

Our stay here was absolutely pleasurable. The staff was friendly and our room was awesome. We had an Ocean View/Balcony room and it was divine to open the balcony door in the morning and hear the rushing waves of the ocean. The water pressure in the shower was AMAZING!! The breakfast area was a bit small for the size of the hotel, but overall we loved our stay. I would definitely stay here again.

The staff was great, the hotel is dog friendly, the grass needs to be cut in the dog area. the rooms itself needs up-dating. The breakfast area was good with a good selection of items. The beach access was good. Overall not a bad place to stay

Decently priced bayfront hotel. Clean. Great water pressure. comfy beds. nice location on the bay.I had a King suite. Nice little area. Nice beach on the bay. Pool area clean. Nice housekeeping staff. I would stay again. I was in town for a concert at Hampton center

We stay here for a few days in Aug 2017 (2 adults, 2 kids). We had two queen beds suite - it's a huge nice room with ocean view, very recomended. As per my understanding other rooms are different. I was very impressed from the manger of the hotel - she is great person. Children were exited to recieve small presents upon check out. Location is the best - huge beatiful and clean beach - only few meters from the room. Pool is not heated - this is the only one minus I can notice, but in the sunny day it's not a problem.

Staff goes out of their way to please everyone. Hotel walks out to a very quite part of the beach. We could see dolphins in the water most of the day. Breakfast was very good more than we expected. Would tell others to go here

Our second visit to this property. Right on the bay so you can walk from the pool to the beach, extremely per friendly and as a bonus it has a dog run which is great for early AM and late PM walks. Breakfast provided daily. Very close to some great dining options and near all the major military bases and a 10 minute drive to VA Beach. Would visit again.

When we need a little beach getaway with the kids and dogs, this is our favorite spot! Their outdoor swimming pool and waterfront location is great. We wake up and take our dogs for a walk on the beach to watch a gorgeous sunrise. There are not a lot of waves, so the kids and dogs can enjoy a relaxing dip in the bay. The staff is fantastic and always go out of their way to make us feel at home!

First, let me say the staff, at every interaction were exceptional! Unfortunately, that is where outstanding stopped. We were in the newer hi-rise section. As such, we were expecting refurbished "newer" decor, it was not. The beds were comfortable and the balconies a nice asset to the room. However, it rained on the second night of our stay. In the morning the floor was soaked; literally when you stepped on the floor, water puddled over our feet. After the shock of wet, cold feet, we looked for the cause, as both the door and windows were closed. Water came in arou d the seals of both the window and door. Upon telling the front desk, their response was "that happens when it rains".. No, just No! The beach was nice, but nothing is close to eat at. All in all, I would not stay again.

I had a great time at this hotel however, there were a couple issues that didn't sit well with me. First of all, check in time is supposed to be at 4 but I waited until 4:30. The staff didn't seem to be alarmed by the fact that our room wasn't ready on time which is a red flag to me. Upon entering our room, we discovered that the entire floor in front of our bathroom was soaking wet. I knew it was from the air conditioner above so I adjusted the temperature and didn't worry too much about it at the time hoping it would stop. When we woke up the next morning, it had not stopped. We also discovered the TV wasn't working. I contacted the front desk who said they would send someone but never did. We waited a couple hours with no luck. By this time it was after 3pm & our room still had not been serviced. We called the front desk again to remind them about the leak, the TV and to request towels and they acted as if we were asking them for a huge favor. They actually acted bothered by my request. I will say after the second call, a nice maintenence guy named Youree came almost immediately to take a look at the leak and the TV. Unfortunately the leak wasn't something that could be fixed right away but Youree put down towels and brought a fan in an attempt to dry the carpet. He was able to fix the TV however. We expressed how housekeeping still had not serviced our room so he took it upon himself to fufill our request for more towels. He came back several times during our stay to check on the leak & carpet. Although the leak was never fixed during our stay, I was very satisfied with Youree's concern. I could never say he didn't try to fix the issue because he did try to the best of his ability. I'm pretty sure he said something to housekeeping about not servicing our room that first day as well because they came every day after we brought it to his attention. Aside from our issues, I loved our room. We had a 2 queen bed suite. It was exactly what we needed and surprisingly, very spacious. The pool is nice and the outside deck in the back is great. My friends and I sat out there several times during our stay. I enjoyed the free breakfast as well however, they don't have enough seating in the breakfast area which was annoying. 2/3 days we were there, we had no where to sit. Overall, this is a nice hotel. It would've been nicer if we didn't have so many problems during our stay. If it weren't for Youree and his help, our stay would've been ruined. This guy is great & honestly deserves a raise for all the hard work he puts in at this property.

too high a price for a parking lot view. other than that the room was average nice room/suite. ice machine in completely different building. No security. My wife was approached by a weirdo as she went to the pool. Anybody can approach unaccompanied women. It is not in a safe looking area. They give you a pass for your car, but anyone can walk in. Not a place I felt safe in.

We recently returned from a 3 -night stay at this Best Western. I was very happy with the location and staff. Ebonie (I am sorry, I know I have spelled her name incorrectly) was very efficient at our check-in and we experienced no problems during our stay. We were fortunate enough to have a balcony room in the, what appears to be, newer building. I was apprehensive at first when making a reservation because I had called the hotel directly for some information on the web page saying the first night is due at the time the reservation is made and also the cancellation policy. The female I spoke with had absolutely no clue what I was talking about and did give us the wrong information. We were not charged the first night even though when making the reservation, it said we would be and also, you can cancel prior to the cancellation date and get a refund if, in fact you are charged. I called the 800 number and they were able to help me and give me the correct information. Breakfast was very nice in the am, there was a couple hot items along with the waffle maker. All staff were more than helpful. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping took care of all our needs. We will absolutely stay here again and recommend it to anyone coming to the area.

Very good hotel, location is good, staff is friendly and professional breakfast is always good and clean. Hotel is accessible to the beach and the pool is clean. Great patio area offers place for grilling

What FANTASTIC STAFF!!! Warm, welcoming, helpful.... and I don't just mean at front desk - absolutely EVERY staff member we encountered THROUGHOUT the hotel had a friendly greeting or helpful suggestion for us and it made our stay GREAT!!

My girlfriend and I came for a quiet beach getaway and we had a great time. The pool and private beach were perfect for us because we don't like the craziness of Virginia Beach. The room was nice and clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. Great breakfast every morning. We will definitely be back!

I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend. It was great to be steps away from the beach without the overcrowding. Great for families. The room was not flashy but I think it was a great price for what I got. Check in staff was awesome. I will definitely come back.

Front desk staff was very nice along with the breakfast attendant. Hotel grounds were well maintained, some construction was going on but not intrusive. The hotel had beach chairs available upon request which was very convenient.

The management miss Karen was horrible disrespectful appearance was terrible her language and tone with customers is horrible the other staff Miss ebony at checkout trying to help the manager lied about rooms that were there that she tried to block customers from using just horrible second experience never again

Our stay was great! The check in was quick, the staff was friendly, and the room was clean. The hotel is off the beaten path, which was nice and quiet for a change. The pool was clean and my husband and daughter had a blast.

My friend and I were visiting a niece and we needed a place that was pet friendly and close to her. The motel fit the bill. We had a room with a real kitchen, right on the beach. Our stay included good, free WIFI, a great breakfast with just about anything you might want and a good night sleep. We didn't use the pool but it was clean and lots of places to hang out and enjoy the water. Our room was clean and the kitchen well equipped. All that said, the place could use a bit of sprucing up. The best part was the staff. Everyone was friendly, very helpful and considerate. Karen at the front desk was accommodating and interested in ensuring we had everything we needed. We were five minutes from my niece's so it was an ideal location.

Our hotel room was mediocre at best: it smelled musty, the baseboard was broken and it was very no-frills, but at least it was clean. Breakfast area was extremely crowded. What we enjoyed was the view of the bay, the beach access and the pool overlooking the bay. It's motel-style and a blue-collar kind of place, but it suited our needs.

The hotel had great beach access and not overly saturated so we were able to really enjoy the beach. The staff were very friendly and had good customer service. We stayed in the 2 bd rm suite, however, only the front room had air, the 2nd bd rm had a ceiling fan but it was still pretty hot in that room. The breakfast was just mediocre but they did offered a variety of typical hotel food. The room had a full kitchen which I initially thought was a plus until I started seeing roaches which ultimately made me have no desire to utilize the kitchen, eat or even stay in this room. I travel a lot and have no problem paying for what I want as I like to be comfortable. I expected to pay more for the room because of it's location to the beach. I do however have a problem with not being able to relax and having the thought of taking roaches home that I did not bring with me. I ultimately checked out and reported the roach situation to the front desk clerk who was very apologetic and advised she would take care of it right away. She also offered a discount on the room. Although the location to the beach was great, the roaches were a deal breaker for me.

Very nice and clean hotel. Loved the private beach and nice pool. Would recommend. Good breakfast. Close to Virginia Beach boardwalk also not far from the navel base. Close to the adventure park and aquarium.

I stayed here at for the entire month of July while on military orders, and I'm glad I chose this hotel. From my experience, the staff was friendly. I had one pay issue on my fault and they were able to work with me on that. The room was always clean, and the room had a great view of the ocean. You can literally walk right up to the ocean from the hotel, which is nice too. I would gladly stay there again when visiting Norfolk. I know some prior complaints were about outdated rooms, however I saw them renovating rooms during the entire month of July, so not sure if that would still be an issue.

This was our first time here but will definately not be our last....absolutely loved it!!!!! We had our own private beach....everyone was so friendly & helpful. When we needed something they were there within seconds...I highly recommend this hotel & location.

This is an excellent location with beach access and a pool. The excellent staff is friendly and very helpful. Each room has a fridge and microwave and coffee maker. Hot breakfast included in the price of the stay. I enjoyed my stay there very much.

Check out was very cold and rude from the employee in charge (Mike). He is kind of want to check out ppl without even asking about their experience. When we asked for check out @ 12 he arrogantly rejected and when i asked for details invoice he said i should get it from wherever we booked from. Pool, it has no policy specially when it comes to ppl going in the pool with full cloth on and underwear. when i complained, i was told "what do you want me to do" so i asked them you should escalate to the hotel in charge and go talk to the family and tell them this is not appropriate. However nothing happened.

We were able to check in early It was raining when we checked in.. our vacation plans were a wash out. We went shopping and went out to eat and did get to play on the beach for a short time.It rained for 2 days we enjoyed our stay at Best Western. The Breakfast Buffet was delicious and had a good variety of Breakfast food. Ocean View has a lot to offer on a rainy day. The nearby library has the Ocean View Museum We enjoyed that. We also went to the mall. It was a still a great vacation ...with all my children anyway.....
