"Disappointed"
sue78, 20 Septembre 2018

The room was quite basic and in need of refurbishment, in comparison to other city hotels we have stayed in expensive for poorer quality. It was clean and beds comfortable. Very little storeage space. The view from the room at the back of the hotel unappealing, back of other buildings that looked rundown. We had breakfast once at the hotel which was very nice, quite a bit of choice and at €13 euros each comparable with cafes in area. Nice itself is fairly expensive, particularly for drinks. Hotel staff were helpful. Distance to beach and old town 15 minutes walk.

"Useless receptionists"
paris24, 13 Septembre 2018

I stayed at this hotel last week and I was very disappointed by the service of the hotel. Two receptionists were not helpful at all and didn't seem to be bothered by the clients, especially Laura who was quite rude to us. The fire alarm went off in the morning at around 8am on the Sunday 9th September and Laura was just standing there at the reception not even talking to the customers or directing them anywhere. We also had a problem with the minibar which was not on/not working, but Laura and her colleagues kept telling us this was not meant be cold (the receptionists and a cleaner repeated the same thing!). And, we explained each time to these employees that the fridge was NOT on. The first receptionist who greeted us (and who appeared to be inexperienced and new), after we asked her about the fridge the first time , she sent a cleaner (after I requested a technician) who said that the fridge was on. Shortly afterwards, when at the reception the cleaner and receptionist said to us to 'give the fridge an hour' to cool (just as the cleaner finished her shift, of course). We asked if again if a technician could look at it, to which she replied she will try to get someone later that day (Saturday). Then, later she advised that it was not possible for the technician as it was Saturday, to check back again tomorrow (Sunday) and she would leave a note with her colleagues for this to be done... On Sunday Laura the receptionist said it's not possible as it's the weekend... HOW does a hotel not have any maintenance person/technician in-house or on-call at weekends?? We needed to use it to store some small things and in fact had to bin some things as we had no fridge on the Saturday night, on Sunday the receptionist took some things for the general fridge. When we told Laura that we won't pay the supplement for moving us from a smaller room (we asked for a bigger room with a Fridge), she simply said “I understand” - but, in a way that she didn't care, and this is not professional at all. On checking out, the supplement for the room was on our bill, we explained the situation with the fridge and that we explained to Laura that we will not be paying the supplement. The receptionist, who we found to be polite and professional, phoned Laura who advised that this was not the case and we should pay the supplement. The receptionist subsequently called the manager Lionel who agreed to waive the supplement. Room 210 that we were given had an awkward stairs that was not easy to access with luggage and the roof in the bathroom is very low and when in the shower you bump your head off the ceiling. This was our second time staying at the is hotel, in 2016 we had no issues but this time it did not go well. We regret not asking to speak with the manager from the beginning, and, will not be returning.

"So nice in Nice"
Debs H, 07 Septembre 2018

This hotel was a pleasant surprise, the staff were very welcoming and friendly on arrival, the room was very clean, spacious and functional, the showers are fitted a bit oddly so a bit awkward to manoeuvre. The breakfast was very acceptable with a lovely lady giving you a warm welcome in the morning. A very good value for money hotel, good location too. For the price we paid we were expecting not as good as it was. Well done Alba

"6 days at Nice"
Hara H, 02 Août 2018

Very good location, about five minutes walking from train station and bus no 99 which goes from airport to Nice Ville. The staff on recepti6were very helpful , the room was clean and the breakfast quite good.

"A hidden gem"
christine100366, 28 Juillet 2018

We stayed here for 5 nights and it was perfect for our needs. Initially we when we arrived in Nice we couldn't find it, it's a doorway next to Burgerking but inside it's a tardis. The staff on reception were amazingly helpful and gave the best directions to wherever we went. The lady in the breakfast room was delightfully french and had a welcoming smile very morning. Rooms very clean and had everything we needed. Opposite a supermarket in a very busy street but no street noise despite the trams running past every few minutes. Good location close to the old town and all the sights and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

"2 Nights in Nice"
Joe M, 23 Juin 2018

Stayed 2 nights. Very convenient to Nice Ville train station. (3 Blocks). Nice boutique hotel with clean rooms well maintained. 1 Block to light rail stop. Breakfast was good quality and choice. Staff was helpful. We would stay again.

"Great Location and Base"
Michelle D, 21 Juin 2018

We stayed here as a base for Monaco, flew into Nice and got airport bus to train station followed by no more of a 5 minute walk to the hotel. Room was clean and we were given a top floor room which also had a tassimo type coffee machine and fridge in the room. Also a safe which is always useful. The street is pedestrianised apart from the trams. Breakfast adequate and enough to keep us going for the day. Rooms cleaned daily and fresh towels given. The staff were very friendly and helpful and a luggage room was available on departure day.

"Monaco base"
avc18, 28 Mai 2018

We stayed here as a base for going up to Monaco , flew into Nice and got the Garre 99# Aero bus which goes straight from terminals 1 & 2 to Nice Ville station direct fare 6Euros , it`s just a 5 minute walk to the hotel , the room was very clean and we had more than enough room despite 3 of us sharing , the street has endless places to eat including the likes of Mcdonalds,KFC & Subway etc , also Monoprix the supermarket is a few minutes walk away and has just about everything you could wish for .The street is traffic free except for the trams . The staff were very friendly and helpful they also offer a luggage service so you can leave all your suitcases locked away once you have vacated your room on the last day which was great for us

"Excellent central hotel"
Igbotraveller, 20 Mai 2018

This hotel is well-located, clean and budget friendly. The hotel staff are helpful. They recommended and set up an excellent trip to Monaco and Eze Village for us. At no additional charge, the staff will also hold luggage on the day of your departure. In case you need internet access, there is a computer that guests can use for free. The breakfast may be a little pricey, but the croissants are the freshest we had in Nice. The reason I did not give this a five star rating is because the showers are a tad tight. We really enjoyed this hotel.

"Nice hotel in Nice"
JuhaOK, 06 Mai 2018

Best Western Alba is a small, but nice hotel with good connections to everywhere in the city: walking distance to the city center, the tram line goes in the same street, the railway station on "backyard" etc. The staff speaks English and is very friendly and helpful. The room was big enough for two budget travelers with a safety box, electric kettle and minibar/fridge. The breakfast is available in a small breakfast room for 13 €, and contains everything that a tourist needs for starting a good day. Extra bonus for storing the luggage on departure day, professional and safe.

"Excellent value for money"
GenMor2016, 10 Avril 2018

The hotel provides excellent value for money, both in terms of location and comfort. We had the family room, which comprised a mezzanine room with a very large bed and two single beds for the kids downstairs- a nice change from traditional family rooms. The bathroom was well appointed with the usual towels and soaps, but the hairdryer was rubbish. The air conditioning was not working and we had to open the large window as it was boiling in the room. The best feature of this hotel, however, is the location. It is walking distance from the Promenade and it is perfect to go shopping on a rainy day.

"Great small central hotel"
Jennifer J, 30 Mars 2018

Walking distance from Nice Ville station with the frequent trams just outside and the Old Town 10 minutes walk away, this hotel is ideally situated. It is clean and comfortable with very helpful reception staff. We had breakfast included in the very reasonable price, booked with Booking.com and the breakfast room on the first floor (although small) was bright and airy with a good selection for breakfast. We found that we were able to visit many places with such a close proximity to the train station. The bus station has now moved (from our last visit) to a new site. (Take the tram to Vauban and walk behind the carpark) From there all the bus services are available to go virtually anywhere you choose. From reading other reviews we requested a room at the rear of the hotel as it was quieter. The room was fine with twin beds but the toilet and bath/shower were in separate rooms. The art was to open one door without hitting the other door. A bonus in the room was tea/coffee making facilities and a free safe. The front of the hotel is facing the main road with the passing trams and could possibly be noisy during the summer if you wanted to open the window. Excellent wi-fi connection. Would stay there again

"Ideal base"
32ChrisA, 30 Mars 2018

Just back from four nights at Best Western Alba and it proved to be an ideal base from which to explore Nice and the coast. Very convenient location on Rue Jean Medecin where the new tram line runs and only a short walk to the railway station. In the other direction the Promenade des Anglais is only about a 15 minute walk and so a very central base for most requirements and explorations. The hotel room (301) was big enough and quiet as it was at the rear of the building and cleanliness was good. The breakfast was ample with good choices including all the usual yoghurts, cereals, breads and pastries plus fresh fruit salad or fruit compote and was served in a very pleasant breakfast room. The staff were all helpful and friendly so I had no complaints whatsoever and would recommend to anyone wanting a good value and convenient base in Nice.

"BEST ! for visiting Nice"
Nitin D, 22 Mars 2018

Superb location, right on the main street which is a Pedestrian plaza, so there is not much noise of traffic, except the Bells of the Tramway that goes to and fro past the front entrance of the hotel. Rooms of a decent size, big enough to open two large suitcases and have room to spare :-) Room 408 was quaint with a large window that opened out onto the main street but the downside was that it was too high to be able to see anything besides the rooftops of the building across the street. But it did open out fully, so we had a lot of fresh cool and cold air during our recent stay from March 5 - 8. About a 12-15 min walk to Nice Gare de Ville ( train station) and another 20 minute walk to Place Massena on the other side. Location ideal for sightseeing or shopping. Promenade d'Anglais is about 30 mins walking from the hotel. several stores all around and Galleries Lafayette about a 10-12 min walk from the hotel. the lovely Notre Dame church of Nice is located a minute away from the hotel , to the right as you exit the hotel. Excellent restaurants around the hotel, and if one misses their Big Mac, there is a McDonalds about a 2 min walk to the left as you exit the hotel :-) I MUST COMPLIMENT THE ENTIRE FRONT OFFICE/RECEPTION STAFF and also thank all of them - Amadeo, Christoff, Habi and Laura. Most of all our interaction with AMADEO who checked us in was FANTASTIC !! He is the hidden gem that every hotel must have or has. His assistance for places to visit, restaurants to go to, transport suggestions and general deference and friendliness is of such a high quality that it would be difficult to replicate elsewhere. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel,, so not sure if they offer breakfat as an option. I would recommend this hotel to any tourist traveling to Nice.

"Good cheap business hotel "
Michael G, 15 Mars 2018

I was here for MIPIM in Cannes, and we booked a hotel near the railway station. So very good relationship of price and benefit, clean and nice service and good beds and strong hot water shower, loved it.

"Location, Location, Location"
Alan L, 14 Mars 2018

You will see from a number of other contributors that the location of this hotel is good for just about everything in Nice. Situated on a main pedestrianised thoroughfare with many shops, close to trams, buses and the main railway station, it provides a central point from which to explore not only Nice, but also the surrounding area. Our room was a double, quite small but comfortable, with a bathroom and separate toilet. Our room faced the back of the hotel looking out over neighbouring rooftops, and there was a balcony. Tea and coffee making facilities also in the room, and a free to use room safe. Free wi-fi available throughout the hotel, with a computer and printer for guest use in the reception area. Breakfast was included for my wife and I, and it is taken in a breakfast room on the first floor. Quite a varied selection on offer, including a small domed hot dish containing scambled egg and small sausages, the usual cereals, yoghurts, bread, etc. We did find at least three other Best Western Hotels in the near vicinity but did not visit any of them. Staff very friendly and helpful.

"Good location"
Cruiser138, 05 Mars 2018

The hotel was less than 10 min. walk from the train station. It is on a busy shopping street with tram running. We could hear the tram from the 3rd floor even with the window closed. The toilet was high. They changed towels every day. Three light bulbs didn't work. The receptionists were helpful and they spoke fluent English.

"Great location, huge duplex room, small/cute/lovely"
JerryHung, 12 Janvier 2018

Family of 4 stayed over X'mas 4 nights, booked via Expedia Room 201 is a Duplex with King bed upstairs + 1 pull-out single bed below Good - Location, 10 minute walk from train station/bus 98 - many shops/restaurants nearby (McD, Quick, Chinese food, Kebab, etc..) - Quick walk to TRAM stop either side if you don't want to walk - We loved the short walk to supermarket Monoprix and dept store also (for cosmetics shopping) - Free wi-fi, elevator, small fridge, Safe. Even has massage tub (1st I've seen one in a hotel) - Very reasonable/cheap rate (~$100/night, I paid via points so basically FREE) Bad - Nothing really Thank you BW and I'd recommend this to everyone going to Nice

"Great location, Reasonable for the price"
biffo1963, 11 Novembre 2017

Small hotel, well-located on the Avenue Jean Medecin within easy walking distance of the railway station and close to the station tram stop. Tram runs past the door of the hotel. If you're coming by taxi please note that, because of the tramway, Avenue Jean Medecin is not open to traffic - however if the taxi driver drops you in one of the mainy cross-streets ( e.g. the Rue D'Alsace-Lorraine ) you'll only have to wak a few yards to the hotel door. We got a pleasant second-floor room at the back of the hotel (so no noise) with a huge and comfortable bed and a modern bathroom which boasted a bath as well as a shower. The toilet was separate from the bathroom, so no need to coordinate visits ! There was adequate space to hang clothes for our three-night stay, with shelves above for underwear etc. Standard hotel LCD freeview-type TV. The only minor quibble was that, like many hotels of less than five-star status, there are no comfortable chairs in the room - just a single transparent plastic chair like I see in my dentist's waiting room - so we had to use the bed instead. I woudn't normally comment on this as it is so common, however this particular hotel has no lounge or bar so if you needed to sit properly (for example because of a back condition) I'm not sure what you'd do ! The room was spotlessly clean and the housekeeping was very efficient - they even changed the towels every day despite there being no need to do so. We ate the hotel breakfast on the first morning, however this was frankly poor value for 13 euros so I wouldn't bother unless you prefer the convenience of eating in. There are plenty of cafes in the surrounding streets which will serve you a perfectly acceptable breakfast much more cheaply. There are also many restaurants serving all kinds of cuisine, so getting an evening meal was never an issue and didn't break the bank - the more expensive and upmarket places are nearer the sea front. A few words of basic French are useful - and polite when you are in France - but the places we ate in always seemed to have someone who spoke English as well so there were no misunderstandings. If you wish to visit the Vielle Ville, as most visitors to Nice are going to do, then it's three or four stops away on the tram - flat fare of 1.5 euros when we were there. If you're staying for a few days then Cannes, Antibes and Monaco are only a few stops away on the train - we took a day trip to Monaco, the return fare came to about 16 euros in total for the two of us. The SNCF ticket machines (which you have to use if you don't want to to faff about in the SNCF office) offer a choice of several languages, so no problem there. A word of warning - if you do decide to visit Monaco by train, don't go at 10:30 on a Friday morning like we did unless you particularly want to join in an exercise of how to cram 500 people into an already well-populated double-decker train. We didn't see it, but I gather there is a Friday market in Monaco which is particularly popular. To be fair though there had been a railway strike the previous day, so maybe a lot of people had held their travel plans over from the Thursday !

"Perfect base to explore French Riviera"
Maciej M, 03 Novembre 2017

Perfect localization: in the city center, near Notre-Dame de Nice basilica, 10 min walk from Promenade des Anglais and 5 min walk from the train station (trains to: Monaco, Meton, Cannes etc.). Friendly and helpful service. Perfectly clean, quiet and comfortable room with free and fast Wifi.

"Good price and quality "
Marita A, 31 Octobre 2017

Perfect location along the main street. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious and clean room. Terrace good extra. Value of money. Walking distance from the beach. If you want to visit Monaco, go by public bus. It costs only 1.50. Recommend.

"Fantastic Breakfast and Convenient Location"
Evelyn C, 24 Octobre 2017

Our three day stay at this hotel was very enjoyable. It is located in a vibrant area with shops, restaurants, and public transportation nearby. Old Town and Blvd des Anglais are a 10-15 minute walk away. The breakfast included croissants, eggs, fruit, assorted coffee drinks, and cheeses. The breakfast room was very inviting. Our room was small but adequate and had a balcony to let in fresh air. The room did not have a way to control air temperature, but we were comfortable. The hotel has a tiny lobby, a small elevator, and CNN in English. The staff were friendly and helpful and spoke adequate English Amadera was especially nice. We would stay here again for the price, location, and amenities.

"Amazing Hotel in Central Nice"
MarkCarrick, 16 Octobre 2017

This hotel ensured that this has been one of my favourite ever holidays. It is located centrally on Avenue Jean Medecin and is near Gare Thiers which is the main Nice train Station. The only traffic on Jean Medecin is trams and therefore there was very little traffic noise even though our room overlooked the street. We arrived around 10am and were greeted by a very helpful gentleman on reception who told us our room was ready. Our room was on the second floor and there is a lift and lovely marble staircase. The bedroom was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated, the décor was reasonably new. There was a working safe in the room and a fridge which was stocked with soft drinks and chocolate (there was a charge per item). The bathroom was immaculate and there was a separate toilet. One of the reasons we chose this hotel was the quality of the breakfast and this did not disappoint, sausages, scrambled egg, cereals, pain au chocolat, croissants, yoghurts, breads, madeleines, fruit, fruit juices and hot drinks were all available. We were able to sit on the terrace whilst having breakfast. The lady in the breakfast room was lovely. There was no noise coming from neighbouring rooms which made the stay all the more comfortable. What made the hotel special was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff especially those on reception who helped with enthusiasm especially with all of our enquiries regarding buses and trains. We look forward to coming back again and staying in this wonderful hotel.

"Very close to the station."
Gary F, 22 Septembre 2017

Second "Best Western hotel" we stayed at in our travels. I must say how friendly the staff are, they make you so comfortable, well done Best Western. A very clean and spacious room. Breakfast was a real treat, a beautiful little French breakfast room, with a lovely lady looking after you. Close to the station, a nice 10 min walk to the beach and restaurant areas. Plenty of shopping malls close by if thats your go. Also a nice day trip to Monte Carlo on the train is worth thinking about.

"Great location and great staff"
ana_leon1986, 22 Septembre 2017

Stopped by for one night at this wonderful hotel, arrived early and was unable to check in but they did store my luggage and gave me an approximate time for when my room was ready which it was, they had pastries, complementary at the front desk for the guests, the minibar was very well replenished and it was so nice to have a safe in the room as well, breakfast was absolutely amazing and though they had ran out of croissants when I have asked for one they went all out and went and bought some special croissants so I can enjoy one as well, the cleaning staff, The managers and the receptionist all have been very professional and very helpful, I absolutely recommend this hotel, the cleanliness was also impeccable and I absolutely love that the toilet was separate from the bathroom! The elevator was a tad bit small, yeah big enough for myself, my luggage, and my shopping bags ! The mattress was very nice and soft and I absolutely love the quality of the quality of the bedding and towels! Location is right a few minutes walk from the nice etoile mall and about 15 minute walk from the beach! I would gladly come back and I absolutely recommend!

"Excellent location"
Bob186487, 19 Septembre 2017

We stayed for a week, excellent location for bus, train and tram to get around. The room was good, but you could hear the people next door talking and them you, so not private at all. The bed was small and you had a long reach to your side table, which was fixed and could not be moved closer. The staff where friendly and helpful. As for me he overall Hotel I thought it would be bigger. The pictures on Booking.com are deceiving and it is rather small overall, but the rooms are a good size. It met our next show and the price was good, so good value to us.

"Good value and location"
C R, 17 Septembre 2017

This was our third visit to the hotel. Good value for Nice, hotel in good location near train station got the airport bus 99 to the station hotel just a few minutes walk away. Can walk to all areas of Nice from hotel, takes about 15minutes to promenade. Also can catch tram. Staff always friendly despite our limited French! We didn't have breakfast in hotel felt 13 euros quite expensive some cafes nearby better value would use again if visiting Nice.

"Great Staff Unique Hotel HouseKeeper"
ElHabanero, 20 Juillet 2017

Not only Hotel Alba is situated in the heart of Nice; at walking distance from the train station and Place Massena, but the quality standards are pretty high. A special mention and again many thanks to the Conciergerie Staff, but in particular to the Hotel Housekeeper , M.me Ichrak, for the unique attention to customer care and the special help in solving practical but essential everyday's inconveniences.

"Great location"
Kurt M, 18 Juillet 2017

Best Western is Best Western, not so fancy, but you know what you get, so no bad supprises. We had a great duplex room, with a small balcony to the backyard. Everything worked fine, and a good is that it was very quiet. Location cant be better for the price, everything within walk distance. Breakfast was a bit pricy, but we found out that it was fair, compared to the cafe's around the hotel. Will for sure stay same place next time.

"Clean good location reasonable price"
lizezo, 09 Juillet 2017

Close to train station, hotel faces main street and tram line, food outlets are close, beach a 10 to 15 minute easy walk or tram 1 or 2 stops cost 1.50 euro single trip. Hop on/off bus available good idea to explore further especially if hot, but walking is easy. We stayed in room 210 which is roomy, quiet back outlook but has spiral stairs to reach room, can store bags behind front door (on level 2) to save lugging them up. All the hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. Actually it is still a lovely old building, well maintained and with a lift.

"Pleasant stay"
ZNJ_05, 05 Juin 2017

Nice is an expensive city, and this seemed to be the best option we could find. Rooms are a reasonable size and clean. We came for a wedding so didn't have much time to explore the area but there was a nearby fresh fruit market on Friday and some nice places for lunch. Taxis can't come on this street but we called them to the nearest corner less than a minute walk away. Staff are great- we came home late one evening with one member of the group quite intoxicated and the duty receptionist made a coffee and came to check all was ok.

"Wonderful stay in Nice"
_brendamerlo, 15 Mai 2017

We stayed 5 days May 5th through May 10th 2017 at room 209. The room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean and spacious. The staffwas outstanding specially Laura and Amedeo very helpful with directions and always eager to please. The location is great close to the train station 10 minutes walk, the tram stops only few feet from the hotel maybe 3 blocks and Jean Medecin avenue is full of stores and restaurants. Its about 15 minutes walk to the Old Town but if you take the tram is only few minutes away. We had breakfast every morning at the hotel. The breakfast was great sausages, scrambled eggs, fruits, cereals and milk, orange juice and croissants and jellies and many more. The sweet lady that works at the breakfast room was very nice !! Overall if we go to Nice again we will stay in this hotel for sure !!

"Good Hotel, friendly staff."
Nicholas P, 15 Mai 2017

Stayed here for 3 nights and it was perfect. Great location right in the centre of Nice. 5 minutes walk to the main train station for easy access to Cannes or Monte Carlo. The room was clean and tidy. We had free wifi. The staff were lovely and were really helpful with information about getting around Nice, bus stops, train journeys etc.

"Great location and good value"
floozy, 10 Mai 2017

The hotel is located in the middle of the shopping area on the tram route and very close to the train station. It is about a 5 minute walk to the old town and beach, so a fantastic location. The hotel is nice and the rooms are tastefully decorated However for me, the central location was a slight issue as our room faced the road and while there are no cars, the trams and people are very noisy. So I had very little sleep during our 3 nights. Furhtermore, our room was on the first floor opposite the breakfast room which became quite noisy early in the morning. If the outside noise doesn't worry you, I would definitely recomend this hotel, but I suggest you ask for room other than the first to avoid the breakfast area.

"Great place to stay."
Kamal M, 09 Mai 2017

We stayed here for 7 days beginning of May and i would like to thank all staff for their warm service. ( special thanks to Malika) Hotel is located in city centre and close to almost everywhere you want to see in walking distance. I would highly recommend this place to stay those who is planning to visit to Nice.

"Week break"
Psmithy1990, 16 Avril 2017

The hotel is well located only a short walk from the train station and only a slightly longer walk from the old town where many restaurants and bars are located. The rooms were clean, wifi is free and the breakfast selection good. My only gripe with the hotel is the lack of air conditioning in the rooms. Air conditioning units are present in the rooms but upon questioning the reception staff we we were told that it was too early for it to be switched on. This left the rooms unbearably hot, as outside temperatures during the duration of the stay were around if not in excess of 20degC. I would recommend that air conditioning is available at least from the month of April as non locals from cooler climates may struggle.

"Great Location"
garryblower, 23 Mars 2017

The location is excellent. 5 minutes walk from the train station. Staff are friendly and speak good english. Our friends booked with a different website and had free breakfasts. We had to pay 13 euros each..

"Nice, quiet hotel on Nice's major shopping street"
cool_jonez, 27 Décembre 2016

We stayed here for 5 nights over Christmas. Pluses: 1) Excellent location right on Nice's major shopping street 2) Free strong wifi 3) Quiet, clean, secure 4) Excellent staff- they were quick to help us with bus stop closures, empty coffee kits, etc 5) In-room coffee and tea kit 6) Fairly recently remodeled, but in a lovely old building with nooks & crannies, and a grand staircase 7) Very near a large Monoprix grocery 8) Fridge in room 9) Tram is right out front Minuses: 1) Breakfast not free; do not spend 13 euros, there are lots of cafes nearby 2) Not a ton of outlets 3) A bit far from Old Town and the Promenade Anglais (about 3/4 of a mile). I would have preferred to be closer 4) Long walk to Port bus stop, where the #100 runs the Inferior Corniche to Monaco overall, recommend.

"Almost a hidden gem in the city centre"
Jussina, 19 Décembre 2016

The reason I chose Best Western Alba was the ideal location near the railway station. The hotel is situated on busy shopping street Avenue Jean Medecin but can offer quiet and peaceful place during your stay in Nice. Reception personnel were very helpful during my stay. Almost all important sights are within walking distance from the hotel.

"Good Four Days"
Jim_atl, 29 Novembre 2016

I stayed in this hotel for four nights. The hotel is close to the train station. It is also fairly close to the Chagall museum. My room was on the 4th floor and was a normal small sized for Europe, but clean and new looking. There was free wifi and the TV had BBC and CNN channels. The staff at the front lobby were very friendly and helpful. There is a Monoprix store not far away to get and food or other items needed. My rate was very good, but it did not include breakfast, which costs Euro 13. The old town and beach were a good walk away, but not too difficult or too far. There were a few good restaurants in the area and many more in the old town. I would use this hotel again on my next visit to Nice.

"Good Hotel"
ImperialTaxisGrays, 29 Octobre 2016

Stayed here for 4 nights, very clean, good location for the tram, main train station, and airport bus. The hotel room we had was at the rear of hotel 2nd floor had a balcony which was a bonus for a city hotel, all the staff very friendly, maid service was also good clean towels everyday, and another bonus was that the toilet and bathroom was seperate, the breakfast was also very good, maybe a little overpriced for some at 13.00 euros per person, but if you want you can walk out the front door turn left and left again there are cafes that do continental breakfasst for 5.30 or English breakfast for 7.40, will return to this hotel again if in the area

"Great value for money"
Gordonlovesfood, 28 Octobre 2016

Stayed for a week mid October for £80 a night and feared the worst. What we got was a lovely room, smallish, very clean with tea/coffee-making facilities a fridge and safe. Modern tv as well. The staff were all lovely. Spoke English well and were very informative when asked for advice. The location is near to the station and the shops. Also the 99 Airport bus is just round the corner. Well recommended.

"Just okay"

This hotel is conveniently located around the corner from the train station on Avenue Jean Medecin, the main shopping street on which the tram runs. With your back to the train station, turn left, walk half a block to Avenue Jean Medecin, turn right, and the hotel is less than two blocks down on the right hand side, across from H&M department store. (Look up to see the hotel sign or you might walk right past it). Upon entering the hotel in the morning, the female receptionist was very pleasant. She gave me a map of the area, made some sightseeing suggestions, and gladly stored my luggage until check-in time. When I returned in the afternoon, she was gone, and the older male receptionist on duty was a bit grumpy. Never cracked a smile, and seemed irritated at having to retrieve my luggage and check me in. The room I had was small but clean. However, it had a wooden beam that ran diagonally from the top of the wall near the ceiling to the opposite wall near the bed. It bisected the room in a very odd way. I assume it was supposed to be decorative, but it was hazardous. I'm only 5'2" (1.57m), but I had to keep ducking to avoid hitting my head. Behind the beam was a small round pedestal table with two clear plastic chairs, creating a seating area of sorts. However, it looked like cheap outdoor patio furniture, something you might find on a balcony, not inside a hotel room. Most unattractive of all was the shag carpeting (!), something that went out of style in the 1970s. The bathroom was small, with the toilet in a separate room from the bathtub and sink. The bathtub had tall sides and is a bit difficult to step into if you're short. It also had peeling enamel, and some of the grout around the tub was dirty and black. However, the water from the hand-held shower was hot and the pressure was good. The room was quiet with very little street noise. There was also a stocked mini-fridge that I used to store my own personal drinks. The WiFi in the room worked well. Breakfast was 13 euro, which IMO was overpriced considering the number of cafes in the area, and the fact that my previous hotel had breakfast included. I did not eat breakfast in this hotel. This is an OK hotel for a night or two, particularly if you are arriving or departing on the train or airport bus. It is also walking distance to most of the sights in the city. However, I did not like the ambiance of the hotel. It felt small, cramped, and dark with no lobby to speak of, and no place to sit and relax. There are other hotels in the area in the same price range that have bigger and more attractive rooms and more amenities. I much preferred Villa Otero, which is also a couple blocks from the train station, but in the opposite direction from Avenue Jean Medecin, i.e., turn right instead of left as you exit the train station. So all in all, not a bad hotel, but nothing special.

"Excellent location and lovely hotel"
Sapta1234, 12 Octobre 2016

Stayed at the best Western alba in Nice in August'16 for 4 nights. Lovely hotel walking distance from the railway station and bang in front on the tram station. 10 mins walk to the Promenade. Amadeo in the front desk was really helpful and went out of his way to help us. Can't say the same about the other lady though :( The rooms are basic but trendy with comfortable beds. Basically has all you need. You won't regret staying here if you are on a mid budget holiday :)

"Very good hotel"
Famousdetective, 08 Octobre 2016

The hotel is very central for getting around conveniently in Nice being close to train station and tram. The front desk staff are all very friendly and helpful, the room had air conditioning and the sound proofing was excellent ensuring a good night's sleep. This hotel is on the main street and our room was on the front but we heard no noise at night from the tram etc. Breakfast was also very good and always attended by helpful staff. All in all a very pleasant stay and we would certainly stay again.

"Couples France trip"
Bryan and Kathr... C, 07 Octobre 2016

Location downtown Nice, close to train station, easy walk to promenade at waterfront, lots of shopping and restaurants, hotels nearby. Very busy area. We found to get good value for your money for restaurants you need to go to old town, otherwise restaurants were very pricey.

"Excellent location"
Tony504146, 13 Septembre 2016

The Alba Hotel is in a great location, a few minutes walk away from the Gare SNCF where there is an express bus from the airport for 6 euros each and it operates every 30 minutes during daytime. Hotel is also on the main tram line which goes mainly north/south with good connections to the port, beach and city shops. The Alba is as it said on hotel information - has "sound proof rooms" and our room which was at the back of the hotel was total quiet and that is considering the busy area, we heard nothing. The rooms were very comfortable and clean with fantastic beds. The bathroom with shower was a nice size and it had a separate WC. We were in a "standard room" which was adequate but had no drawer units but shelves for clothes in the cupboard, which was OK but we found it a little inconvenient. Having said that we were totally satisfied and had a great stay. The room had air conditioning which is needed in Nice in summer also tea/coffee facilities and an in room safe which we used. We would stay there again.

"All you need."
Wendy S, 08 Septembre 2016

5 mins walk from the train station/bus stop for the airport. 10 mins in the other direction to the sea. Surrounded by lovely bars and coffee shops. Clean rooms, comfy beds, mini safe and tea tray, roomy en suite, very quiet - all you need in a city hotel!! Oh, and a great breakfast too!

"Ok for one night pillow!"
JoJoMorris, 08 Septembre 2016

I was literally in the room for all of about 7hrs - but sometimes that is when you need or expectation is higher of a place Very good central location Very friendly staff Lent me an adaptor plus that I had forggoten Smiley and welcoming Clean Comfy bed But the TV was awful had to take ariel out and fiddle with it to make it work and just wanted white noise to send me to sleep Very basic tea and coffee making facilities But for one night stop over from airport with town centre access great

"Good hotel in a good location"
Ruben46_58, 04 Septembre 2016

The hotel is quite good (even if not really above average) and the location is even better. You can walk to the center of Nice and the train station is also at only 5 minutes walk. The rooms are clean and simple and offer enough space. The bed was also quite comfortable and we never heard noises from outside or from the corridor. The price was lower than most of the other hotels but still not very cheap.

"Great stay"
gailmckenzie1, 31 Août 2016

We spent a night in this hotel in August. The position was brilliant. Walking distance to everything. Really easy to get to the train station. On arrival one of the reception staff went out of her way to point out things of interest that we may like to see and marked routes out on the map for us. On the following day, a different receptionist was on and we tried out our pitiful French on her. She was so warm and friendly and even though we were making a complete hash of her language, she even helped us with our pronunciation. The beds were some of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. The little dining room where we had the buffet breakfast in the morning was quaint and with everything you would want to eat for breakfast. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and will definitely use this hotel again when we next come to Nice.

"A brilliant time in Nice"
Nikos T, 30 Août 2016

I just came back from Nice. It was a fantastic experience and this is my second visit in côte d'azur. The hotel is in Avenue J.Medecin 41. I went in 405 and everything it's a big pleasure, from the room to the professional stuff of the hotel especially the Blond lady of the morning shift and the lovely Lady of the Breakfast room. I recommend this hotel for good money value and i will surely stay there again

"Great location"
harry c, 27 Août 2016

Just a couple easy blocks to the train station which makes getting around a snap. The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. August prices were 1/3 Key West hotel prices! Go figure. The beach is in easy walking distance and cafes and restaurants and shopping are plentiful with pedestrian streets everywhere.

Spent 4days here on 6th August to 10th was travelling with my 2sisters.Hotel location was excellant 5mins from train station where we got train to Monaco .Beach was a 10 min walk in opposite direction at bottom of our road.Rooms were basic but spotless and beds were really comfortable. The bedroom we were in was soundproof so very quiet and walls in hotel, were proofed too.We paid 13 euro for breakfast which was good .lovely room with outside terrace.Cant think,of anything negative .Staff were all lovely and extremely helpful with special mention to Ann Marie who advised us on many things from beach to train travel etc.We will definately stay here again.Ps.Air con is fab and very quiet

"Satisfied all my requirements"
Lionel D, 24 Août 2016

I have stayed at Best Western Alba on four occasions since 2013 and have been completely satisfied every time. The central location is very convenient, the rooms are comfortable, clean and well appointed, quite spacious for the class of hotel, good value, and the reception staff are very friendly and helpful. Tip - cooking smells from a nearby restaurant are sometimes noticeable in lower rooms at the back if the window is open, so if this bothers you, ask for a front room and/or upper floor. Also note the beautiful marble staircase.

"Unexpected and Inadequate!!!!"
ros063, 29 Juillet 2016

What, after 2 times we went in this hotel we thought it was the best quality / price ratio in Nice .... and yet it all went wrong, really bad last year and a bad our anniversary and they do not I expected; in short here is what happened, and given that we had paid in advance two months before the amount, more than 400 euro for 4 nights: 1-December 31 arrived at 12 noon and presented the voucher of reservation, the lady at reception says that the rooms are ready after 14 pm; 2-After a ride into town we arrived at the hotel and took possession of the room that was to our great diapiacere with twin bed and not double as requested and written on the voucher and on their email, to our disappointment and change request offer us in return , as at 15 hours !!!! not to believe in a Best Western !!! there was no one who could make an exchange for SHEETS: really incredible and unjustifiable; to our requests then we offer us in exchange for a room with double bed but no heating since broken, however, with an electric heater that just turned on gave off a nauseating smell, which is unacceptable, of course we refused and kept the twin bed for the last year ; 3-the day after they refer the room with the double bed but amazing place us on the one hand a small pillow and the other a large cushion, to our disappointment the next day they put two pillows on each side and the same size but do not refer completemente the bed but partly leaving the duvet back and arraffati pillows in some way, of course we inform you of all the ladies of the front desk and ask to speak to the manager but it is not available; 4- in the lobby and front desk there was a sewer smell sickening; 5-day we arrived at 14.30 and the room was not yet made, the next day we had to put the sign on the door to get it done before, it is also unacceptable for all four days were stationed in front of our carts of cleaning and change of rooms, also for security reasons, UNACCEPTABLE; This is what happened to us and apart from Mr Amedeo who was kind and considerate in doing something and also give us tips on how to move in Nice, but could not do much, no Director has given us an apology and asking us feedback recognizing some bonuses for what happened; I believe that the faults are not present at the time of the individual but rather the Director and those who manage not giving instructions and worse still do not control the quality of the place and given to the customer service; and I'm sorry for the Best Western, I belong and to whom I will a complaint about what happened, he does not deserve this level of service; Sorry but we were really disappointed with great regret and if we add that it was our anniversary and the last year do you ....... Thanks

"Small / Tiny"
Ross P, 21 Juillet 2016

My wife and I stayed here on the 11/7/2016 for 5 nights, we found the hotel staff friendly, the rooms were small but very clean, location was good 10 minutes walk from the train station and down to the town, unfortunately there is no bar and now where to sit after a long day out, breakfast was limited for the cost of 13 euros, our room was 404 which had no view unless you stood on chair, not good for couples or families but ok for an overnight stay....Unfortunately we were there on the night of the Bastille day problems , may we say how sorry we are for all involved in a night of horror.

"Very noisy "
martyrhuang, 07 Juillet 2016

We stay at the room near their Main Street which metro train goes by. It is not loud but still constant noise every few minutes till late night. We stay for 3 nights and ask for a change to other rooms facing the quiet side in the next morning but the bald male front desk receptionist was inpatient and very rude, and we kindly ask for any possibility to change rooms while people checking out in the next afternoon. They said they had their own schedule and couldn't move their schedule and even shouted at us. Very stubborn if you met the rude receptionist. Some hotel staffs are very nice, especially the lady one, I forgot to ask her name, she is very kind and help us move the room. So don't take chances if you are light sleeper. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

"Really central"
GR_Wales_12, 25 Juin 2016

Photos advertising the hotel were misleading, showing photos of more famous buildings on the same street. However, no complaints about the hotel itself. Very central, clean and functional with helpful staff.

"Check which room"
Helen D, 24 Juin 2016

This was a good hotel. We were given a quirky room that was above another one, with an internal staircase. It was big enough but the ceiling was very low in the bathroom and with a shower over the bath my partner could not stand under the shower head. So if you're over 170cm (5'8") check that you are not in 210. The hotel was clean and tidy, the staff very helpful and it was in a great location in the the middle of the Main Street. Close to the station and not too far from the beach and old town. Breakfast was available and convenient but not opulent.

"Hope it will become better."
Viktor G, 01 Juin 2016

Hotel located on central avenue with multiple cafe and shops including chain supermarket Monoprix where you can buy local food for breakfast. Even at night it looks as quiet and safe place. It is best location available if you want to travel to other places like Monaco, Cannes, Villefranche by train. Air conditioner works fine and windows are really soundproof. Room is large, equipped by TV, kettle, hairdryer, safe and include closet. Wifi is strong and stable. There are two electrical outlets for charging your tablets and phones and for kettle. It is hard to charge kettle b/c they installed too low. One outlet was broken and never fixed though promised everyday. Single English-speaking channel disappeared in 2 days and never was restored. We asked to remove all stuff from bar/refrigerator and it was done immediately but in two days was full again. When we took sweater from closet's shelf it was in dust. When we requested iron and iron board, they were delivered immediately and left forever. We don't know it was a favor or simply forgotten. Requested wake-up call never occurred. So we had a chance to miss train to Paris. Staff in general was friendly and even made copy of timetable for some buses.

"Nice and the Cote D'Azur"
sharonlaw2016, 31 Mai 2016

We truly enjoyed our one week stay in Nice and staying at the Alba made for a memorable holiday. Yvane and Amedeo were wonderful ambassadors for this hotel, and helped with transportation recommendations during the strikes and delays. Restaurant suggestions were given my Amedeo that proved to be some of the highlights of our dining experiences. Thank you.

"Friendly staff, fabulous location"
Zacandjul, 20 Mai 2016

We chose this hotel for it's proximity to the railway station and found it very easily on arrival from the airport by train. On arrival, too early for check in, we were greeted by a lovely receptionist who stored our cases and recommended places to visit, marking these on a city map - what a great first impression. We were equally happy when we saw our room, at the back of the hotel, which was clean, quiet and cool. We slept very well in a comfortable bed. There was adequate storage for our belongings, air conditioning (very quiet),a safe, tea making facilities and a mini bar, there was nothing else we needed. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and served in a clean, bright breakfast room, we thought it was good value for money when compared to other local restaurants we looked at. This hotel exceeded our expectations and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to our friends, and hope to return ourselves.

"Good Location for Train Station"
Andrew K, 03 Mai 2016

five minute walk to train station with a ten minute walk to sea. Room was fresh and clean and overlooked main shopping street in Nice. Breakfast is the usual continental with scrambled eggs and sausage also available, enough to set you up for a days sightseeing.

"good location , no air-conditioning in late April"
intrepidtraveller124, 02 Mai 2016

Other than a good location along the Ave Jean Medecin shopping street and short walk to train station and walking distance to Place Massena and Old town, there is nothing compelling about this hotel. It was average value. We are a group of 6 and we had 3 twin rooms for 3 nights. One of the rooms had lots of trouble with wifi throughout and our friend had to camp in the lobby to access wifi whenever he wants to hook on internet. As with a lot of hotels in France, no air-conditioning and NICE is very hot in late April. People are in bikinis at the beach. The receptionist could only suggest opening windows which in my room was terrible as its really noisy as we are on main street and Best Western is above some fast food joint and we can hear all sort of street noise and food smells and also the trams with their bells ringing whenever it rumbles past which is about every 15 mins when windows are open. Thankfully trams seem to stop around 11 pm. The receptionist could only shrug and say this is any city centre in France , to have noise late into night. So gave up leaving windows open and just throw of quilt when too hot. otherwise, hotel rooms are fine and there is a Monoprix nearby across the street which has a supermarket section on the ground floor. Plenty of restaurants all around and can always walk to old town to try their food specialities like Sokka and a stuffed vegetable dish called Farsi... ? Won't choose this hotel as its too noisy on the main street. Will look for something quieter perhaps off the main street in future.

"cheerful room, not much good experience with stuff"
mazenahmed5, 19 Avril 2016

only the rooms are the best thing in this hotel as the furniture is very moderate & having cheerful colours, breakfast is under average, location is good near train station & in a very active street in nice but very far from the sea. the concierge service is nearly impossible, no way to forget the thin 40s lady in reception that refused to give us any recommendation or advise to places in nice even when we opened the map & choose some places we asked her to help in telling how to reach those places she refused that we started to be afraid of her, on the second day we saw a young girl in reception sitting beside the weird lady we approached the young girl asking for some direction & transportation advises when she started to talk the 40 lady told her to stop & please leave us as we have work. one last thing when we arrived first day 1 hour before the check in time, we decided to wait in the reception chairs as we were very tired the reception lady refused and asked us to get out of the hotel & return in the check in time because they will clean the reception now !!!!!!!!!

"In a word... very nice!"
Mulhouseboyz247, 13 Avril 2016

Yo-yo-yo, MoHoBo in the hizzz-ouse! The MulhouseBoyz had this hotel booked for months. Anticipation was high, both for us and for the hotel staff, I'm sure. When you've got the MulhouseBoyz dropping by, you don't want to leave anything to chance. You need to be on the top of your game or all hell will break loose, for that is the Mulhouse way Arriving a bit too early and in a state of slight inebriation (#BANTA... you know it!) the hotel staff allowed me to store my executive luggage in the luggage store room until check-in was possible. To kill a few hours, the MulhouseBoyz BanterBus headed to the beach for a stroll by the sea, then to Wayne's in the Old Town for a pint of their finest stout! It was crazy! Woooo! "Bartender!" I yelled on my way in, "take a guess who is just about to enter your ale-house?!" The barman's face dropped, as it should when the MHB enter a premises. The patrons in the bar were, of course, overjoyed because they know to expect top quality high-jinx and general shenanigans. Anyway, back to the hotel. I checked in very easily and was given a key card. The lift was very small, and being used by a dear old couple, so I took the stairs to the top floor. Upon arrival, I was sweating like a majestic bison on the Serengeti plains. I hopped in the shower, washed off the salty, water-like substance that had gathered in my armpits and unmentionable areas. The hotel is very quiet, ya get me? Which is fine. It's what you want. You need some peace and quiet, a place of relaxation when you lead the kind of life the MHB do. I never had breakfast in this establishment so cannot comment on the food, but I imagine it was fine. If there's one thing the MHB are known for, it's passing comment on the quality of food without actually having tasted it. The only drawback I can mention is that the room was very, very hot at night (due to the ambient air temperature and general weather patterns in the area at this time of year, not because of what was going on in the room ROFL!). The air conditioning in my room didn't work properly - no matter what setting it was on, it just pumped out hot air of varying temperatures, making the situation worse. I could have spoken to reception and got it fixed, but... well, I couldn't be bothered. Things to do, people to see, you know how it is. Bathroom was very clean, with an over-bath shower. Plenty of hot water, which could be accessed by turning the tap on in the opposite direction one would when requesting cold water. There was also a mini-bar in the room, but only had soft-drinks and water, and both were rather expensive. Internet was fine, although one can only log on with one device at a time, which made it difficult to run the enormous business empire the MHB are known for. But I managed. Resilience is the key.

"Good hotel"
sicamous, 10 Avril 2016

We chose the hotel for its proximity to the train station as we were travelling by train. It is on the tram line which proved very handy for accessing places not within walking distance - eg. the bus loop to catch a bus to Eze or Monaco. The old city is easily reached on foot in about 20 minutes. There are numerous options for restaurants, groceries (Monoprix), etc in the area. We cannot comment on the breakfast as we did not partake. There's a McDonald's just a few doors away and a great bakery open "nonstop" just around the corner. The room has a kettle with coffee and tea supplies as well as a fridge stocked with a mini bar. Would definitely stay here again.

"Well located, clean and confortable"
FidiasPericles, 21 Mars 2016

Great place for a stay in Nice. Near tram line, in central Nice, room extremely clean and cosy. Bathroom ceilings a litle bit low, so beware if you are a basketballer :) High quality Wifi. Confortable bed. Stayed as a family of three with a 5 year old child.

"Great location"
Tomas D, 06 Mars 2016

It have a great location over the main street. Three blocks away from Nicetoile shopping where you can park your car. The hotel don't have a private parking. It a very small hotel, small corrridors and a tiny reception. Common areas have old structure but rooms have new things. Petite bedroom without table for eating inside. Staff is very nice Without videt

"Convenient hotel on the main street of new part of Nice"
Johnathan T, 22 Février 2016

Rooms were cosy and service was fuss free. Excellent location near to Gare de Nice-Ville, and walkable to Place Messena and the Promenade. Didn't like that the toilet was detached from the bathroom, not sure if that only applies to soom rooms.

"Clean room, good location, near parking favility, but internet not so good"
PrincessJaime, 17 Février 2016

We stayed for 2 nights in duplex room for 4 adults. Room is spacious and clean Location is good, shops along the street, with self parking facility near the church within walking distance (we rented a car) Elevator is super small so we had to make several trips from lobby to our room upon check in/out but that's not really a problem Wifi is not good though, connection keeps on dropping every few mins, hope this can be improved

"January Treat"
drea01_13, 09 Février 2016

This is a great little hotel in a perfect location .. Simple to get there even for us who are capable of getting lost in a brown paper bag ... We were thrilled with our room, all the staff we met spoke great English and were very helpful .. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and we are really looking forward to our return visit.

"Very clean/great staff."
Kathleen1819, 30 Décembre 2015

First time in the south of France so I did a lot of research before I settled upon the Alba Hotel. The hotel is extremely easy to get to if arriving by air - just take the airport express bus (6 Euro) and get off at the final stop which is the main train station. It is then just a short walk to the hotel. No problems with my wheeled suitcase. The hotel is in a great location especially if you want to take a train to surrounding cities. I also took the bus to some of the towns along the coast. Between the trams, the buses and the train, I was surprised how easy it was to get around. I had a room at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet. The A/C was shut off for the season so I was able to sleep with the windows open without any street noise. The room was a good size (I am used to small hotel rooms in Paris) so it was a nice surprise to have plenty of room. Good sized bathroom with a sink and tub/shower. The toilet is in a separate small room across from the bathroom - so if you are traveling with someone else, they can have privacy. Free wi-fi which was great. I was able to stream programs from my US Netflix account in Nice (hoorah!). Some of the programs/movies were different from what I can watch in the US and there is no reason to complain about a lack of English channels on the television. The room and the hotel were extremely clean. Housekeeping staff did an excellent job. There is a small fridge and an electric kettle in the room. Breakfast is 13 Euro and is very nice. There are plenty of cafes nearby to have breakfast. In addition, there is a Monoprix department store nearby which has a nice food/grocery department on the ground floor. The reception staff is excellent. Yvane (the pretty blonde woman) patiently answered all my numerous questions and gave me tips/suggestions on what to see. I was traveling solo so all the information was very much appreciated. My original hotel reservation was with Expedia. However, I got "stuck" on the French Riviera when the cabin crew of Lufthansa went on strike for 1 week and my flight was cancelled. I could not get a flight out until 3 days later. The front desk staff was great about extending my stay at a very reasonable rate. For this kindness, I am very appreciative.

"Convenient and Quiet!"
Plymouth1949, 13 Décembre 2015

Our recent visit was our third; what we like is that it's very close to the railway station - less than five minutes' walk and, despite being on a busy shopping street, the rooms are very quiet. We appreciated having good (free) wifi. There's a charming breakfast room with a terrace and an elegant marble staircase leading up from the reception desk where the staff are always friendly and helpful. Overall, it was very good value.

"Family Vacation"
Eugene514, 09 Décembre 2015

This hotel has good location. We can walk to train station in 5-6 minutes and where is the start place to Eze, Monaco and other places you want to explore. The hotel is in shopping aera and if you want to go beach, walk 15 minutes.

"Great location"
TonyOtite, 27 Octobre 2015

I visited Nice a few months back, and I stayed on the hotel, it was close to the main train station to get to Monaco, and other places. It is not too far from the beach, lots of stores and restaurants around. On that trip I went to Monaco, Biot and Cannes. Friendly hotel, clean and free wifi. I also signed the guestbook back then. It was warmer when I went.

"nice hotel central location"
shorelark2015, 26 Octobre 2015

This was the quietest hotel I have ever been in! -We had a room at back and were not aware of outside or inside noise. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Short walk from station and close to everything.

"Clean, central, but..."
Stormpetrel2011, 25 Octobre 2015

Organised the booking through Expedia and in general it was great. The hotel room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the hotel staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated on the Avenue Jean Medicin which is tram-only, so you'll have a short walk from wherever a taxi drops you. One thing, though. We didn't notice that breakfast was extra (it was excellent, mind you) but at €13.00 pppd it added quite a bit to the cost at the end of the stay – and of course there's a tourist tax, too. €26.00 will buy a couple quite a good breakfast for two in an independent cafe. It's worth considering.

"Night before cruise"
Michelle A, 21 Octobre 2015

Loved the hotels location. Lovely and friendly people who check you in and out. The room had three beds. There was a mini fridge and the bathroom was very adequate. Location was great. Right on a Main Street where there us shopping and food and drink. Close to the beach. Just perfect hotel for our needs. I would go back if ever in he area again. I will recommend the Alba

"Clean, close to the train but no aircon"
Phil W, 20 Octobre 2015

Everything was acceptable about the Best Western Alba in Nice until we tried to put on the airconditioning. It has pleasant small rooms and is no more than 5 minutes to the train and a short walk to the famous promenade of Nice. On a warmer than average autumn day the room was stuffy and we naturally attempted to put on the aircon - only to find out that it is turned off for the season. I fully respect the right of a hotel to not provide aircon - just don't represent that you do - allow guests to made a fully informed decision when making their booking! We had no choice other than to leave the window open and accept the attending noise and loss of security given our room had access from the roof.

"Close to train station"
Sofia v, 15 Octobre 2015

Besides being convenient to train station it is a very average hotel. No parking if you have a car. Room is nice and clean and has a view to the street if you are on the right side. You can walk to all the sights of Nice. We thought it was over priced for what you get but perhaps that is what you pay in Nice for an ok place. Staff is nice but if you want a map of the city they refer you to the train station which seems silly. There is another Best Western a block away and we thought that was our place when we first got there. The staff there really needs some customer service training, not friendly at all.

"Wonderful hotel"
Anivasy, 15 Octobre 2015

We stayed at this hotel in July for 5 days. we enjoyed everything about our stay. The staff was very friendly, helpful and attentive, especially Irina. ( ask her about the old train and 'le champes de la lavande') The room was clean and cosy. The location was perfect, very close to the train station (5 min) and the center (15 min to the beach). The advantage of being next to the train station was immense because in 20 minutes we could reach Cannes Antibes and Monaco. I highly recommend this hotel for people who would like to visit more than Nice.

"Great location "
jenny r, 30 Septembre 2015

This hotel is on the Main Street which is a 10-15 min walk to the beach and restaurants. I would advise getting the duplex room so spacious and nice. Very basic but it's all you need really. Hotel staff were good but don't ask ithem if they speak English they don't seem to like that question... But yes they do and well.

"Good location for trains, great value."
JonTraveller1979, 15 Septembre 2015

The hotel is very convenient for Nice Ville station, less than a five minute walk away in fact. The room was a good size and seemed to have been newly decorated. The immediate vicinity is mostly shops with a few cafes but a 10/15 minute walk down the avenue will take you straight to an area full of bars and restaurants. For the price we paid this hotel was unexpectedly good quality.

"Convenient Location,"
RoseyDerry, 14 Septembre 2015

Stayed in this hotel for 3 days with my hubby. The hotel is very convenient to all amenities and the main train station. We walked everywhere to most places around the new and old town of nice. Our room was small and on the top floor, more of a dormer room. The natural light into the room was dim, the window was about 4ft plus off the floor, so it was hard to view, what was happening down on the street. Initially there was a bad smell when we arrived and I asked them, to change room, but I was told, there was no available rooms!! The room was actually clean and the smell did subside. There was a small fridge in the room, so this was useful, as we could cool our waters overnight. We didn't use the breakfast room. The housekeeping staff, were very obliging and pleasant and it was no problem requesting more tea and milks from them. The reception staff was okay and not particular helpful. I did get a good deal on Holidayguru, so the flights and the hotel was reasonable. Despite the initial drawbacks we did have a very pleasant time in Nice.

"Location, staff, price"
ihab a, 12 Septembre 2015

We ( my little son wife and me) stayed at this hotel 5 days. We for a very good deal. First of all I want to say that we were so surprised from the hotel, we didn't expect to enjoy as we did. The location the staff the rooms breakfast. 1. Location- I have nothing to say. 10 mins walking from place Messina the beach the old city. 2 mins walking from tram station. In the same street of the hotel there is big supermarket (mono prix) endless Shopes and restaurants. Actually we didn't use the train at all. We enjoyed walking in this street heading to the beach. 2. Staff so nice so polite and so helpful. They answered every question we have. We're available always. Specially the old lady from the breakfast room she was amazing. 3.the room- it wasn't the big room. But was ok. Have double bed, tv, mini bar, toilets and bathtub . It was more than enough. We didn't complain. a/c was ok, there wasn't any problem. The room was very clean. Although it was at Main Street it was quite. The elevator was small but we didn't care. 4. Parking- there wasn't parking for the hotel as lots of hotels in nice and France. But there were few streets around and also parking court ( which was free at night) just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. And if you want there is parking in nice stole shopping center which is so expensive 5. Free and fast wifi 6. Breakfast- fresh juice cookies 2 kinds of cheese, jam on and salami. Chocolate, milk coffie. We didn't expect more. It was enough and nice Overall we had a great time in the hotel. Highly recommended

"Great Location and a good standard for the price"
Agnew29, 04 Septembre 2015

The location on such a main tram thoroughfare was ideal for easy sightseeing and access to the train station. The room was on the small side and would have benefitted from a refresh however it was clean and the A/C worked well. Nice to be able to make a cup of coffee although needed to ask for milk to be left in the fridge. The breakfast lady was lovely and there was sufficient available to start your day. The two female Receptionists were very friendly and helpful - the guy was indifferent. Lots going on in the evenings in terms of street entertainment and open air salsa dancing in the old town which was fabulous to watch! The train station was v busy but worth using to visit other locations on the Riviera. Cannes, Villefranche for it's sandy beach and lovely old town, Juan Les Pins for great lunches at the beachfront and comfy sunbathing loungers, Antibes - beautiful to walk around, have lunch and stroll along the long promenades, Monaco for the Palace and spectacular views from above although it was less so at ground level apart from the Formula 1 car memorial where you can step in and have a photo taken. Monte - Carlo to see the Casino and the array of expensive cars outside although not much else unless you can afford to shop in the Designer Pods !

"return visit"
saza2014, 01 Septembre 2015

this hotel is very convenient for exploring nice and surrounding areas, train station 5-10 min walk, many places to go to and very reasonable prices, loads to see. Hotel itself a bit mixed, very clean comfortable rooms, air conditioning works well and certainly needed, rooms can be a bit noisy at night just because sound carries, a few drunks heard outside, trams, fire, police, ambulance sirens but nevertheless would use it again. Staff again rather mixed, one very nice receptionist who is very helpful another not so much!

"Good location, spacious rooms, but the SMELL!"
PK W, 28 Août 2015

The hotel has a great location. You can walk to many stores and restaurants and the beach and Old Town is only a 10 minute walk away. The wifi was free and easy to connect to and the rooms are quite spacious. The shower setup and the breakfast buffet needs major improvement, BUT the main disappointment was the A/C unit. The A/C unit produced a nauseating raw sewage smell. We complained to the staff who offered "perfume" for the room. The smell lingered throughout our stay.

"Good location, clean, A/C, quiet"
Karen M, 06 Août 2015

We stayed here for 4 nights. We were pleasantly surprised with the roominess of the duplex, the cleanliness, the quietness, the A/C, free internet, and the convenient location. The staff were OK, not very welcoming nor friendly and we would have liked to have had some help with how to use the safe (we were asked not to make any mistakes but the first set of instructions on the back of the door were wrong, well we eventually noticed other instructions printed on the safe itself and those worked). Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

"Shocking Receptionist!"
troopy0, 02 Août 2015

We stayed at this hotel late April 2015 and our travel agent had poorly booked us here knowing that we were travelling with a car - there is no parking at this hotel. After following the GPS and still being unable to find the hotel we asked directions and discovered it was in a street close by where you couldn't take cars. After managing to find somewhere a few streets away to park briefly we walked to the hotel to check in. I was a little flustered by now and when we inquired form the receptionist where we could park our car she just replied that they have no parking. When we again asked where we could park it she replied "At the shopping centre" and turned away. We looked out the door and couldn't tell where she meant. When we asked a couple more times she just turned away and then started to speak to other patrons. We then asked a young girl who worked there to show us where the shopping centre was and she was very nice. So then we had to go down the road a couple of blocks, find the concierge for the centre for directions to the car park to arrange for parking for 3 full days at an extra cost to us also. Our room was slightly shabby and quirky, hot and you could not leave the window open for air as it opened out to the noisy main street. The curtains would not close at the top so a lot of light was coming in early in the morning. Breakfast was a bit poor and cramped but not really an issue. Now I know that this is partly our fault for not checking on the parking situation (we thought the travel agent would have done this as they arranged the car hire) but the extreme rudeness and arrogance of the woman at the reception of the hotel was uncalled for and she turned her back to us every time we entered or left the hotel for the next 3 days. This is not a person that I would want at the front end of my business and due solely to her reception we would never stay at this hotel again and would not recommend to anyone else either. The location of the hotel is excellent if you are travelling by train etc and there is a close proximity to local attractions. Sadly, although we tried to get over it this overshadowed our once in a lifetime trip to Nice.

"Good Location"
trtravels2014, 25 Juillet 2015

Fantastic hotel just 5 minutes from the station and 15 minutes from the beach front. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and clean with good facilities. We had a street facing room but didn't find it the main road too noisy. Air conditioning is a life saver in the summer. This hotel is perfect for a weekend break,

"Very Nice, Good Location"
scottxes, 25 Juillet 2015

This is a very nice hotel with a decent room. For the triple room the third bed was a fold out and the bathroom had a shower/bath. The hotel was in a great loaction on the main road which meant it was close to shops and only a short stroll to the beach and a whole bunch of restaurants.

"Amazing location"
RachelEndall, 23 Juillet 2015

We visited for our honeymoon. The hotel is in a great location in the centre of the shopping district. The room was a little small with a large, low wooden beam going across, no problem for little me, but my it was another matter for my husband. The shower managed to flood the whole bathroom floor too. The breakfasts provided more than enough food, and so much choice. On the whole the hotel was nice and clean, and the staff were very helpful.

"Excellent location"
Mary S, 09 Juillet 2015

Excellent location- near the train station and shopping area. During our stay (July 2015), the A/C unit broke down leaving us profusely sweating. It was almost midnight when the unit started working again.

"Good and Bad"
kpjunque, 21 Avril 2015

Good: The hotel itself is clean and in a great location. Just minutes walking from the train station, and 1 block to a supermarket. The staff was wonderful- especially the friendly and helpful Debra manning the front desk. The water pressure was excellent, and my bed was outstanding. Breakfast was good, however, they could use some fresh fruit added to the buffet. Bad: The internet is horrible. If you are planning on using wifi, stay somewhere else. Noise- the rooms are soundproof between the rooms, but if you are street side the late night party goes can be heard until the wee hours. Also, trash night is Sunday, and they are loud. Ask for room facing toward the courtyard if you are a light sleeper. Although my room faced the street, and was sometimes loud,I enjoyed it. I liked being able to people watch.

"Excellent choice for our stay in Nice"
Michael K, 13 Mars 2015

Staff is really helpful, English spoken, close to the Train for access up and down the coast, tram is easy access to the beach area, rooms clean, beds comfortable, wi fi good. we stayed in late February during Carnivale - very fun!

"perfect location"
Marion S, 09 Novembre 2014

The location is perfect, the size of the hotel perfect and the hotel itself very nice and well isolated from the street outside and with everything functioning to perfection. On the minus side are the beds, which are very hard, and the pillow - well, I´d advice you to bring your own. However, I would easily come again as you really get price - value

"Nice, France"
josephc737, 16 Septembre 2014

If you are looking for wonderful Hotel staff who are helpful and knowledgeable this is the Hotel for you. The maps and tips were extremely helpful and provide with pleasure by staff members. The Hotel is clean and provides breakfast. The location is perfectly set on a walking street with easy access to transit to take you to Old Nice efficiently. The beds need to be greatly improved. Hard, old and singles. The Hotel does not provide parking so if you are driving managing luggage can be an challenge. Having said that, there is a secure and clean parking facility under the major mall only blocks away. The Hotel is close to shopping, restaurants and a grocery store. Note: most are closed in the evenings. Enjoy Nice in a great economical location.
