« Great place to stay before heading out on your cruise »

Easy to reach, friendly staff, clean, modern rooms, nice lounge with good food and drink, shuttle service to and from cruise terminal, long term parking , all for a very good price. This is our third stay here and recommend this Best Western.

« Great Place to Stay Before a Flight »

Booked this sight unseen for an overnight stay prior to a morning flight out of Newark. Was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and size of the rooms. We utilized the stay and park option, which was well worth the additional $70 for the week. It was only a 5 minute ride to the airport with the hotel shuttle. The only glitch that keeps this from an excellent rating is I was told my receipts would be emailed to me. That was 2.5 weeks ago. I'm still waiting. Also, my rewards points were not applied to my account. I brought this to the attention of Mr. Joshi, the General Manager, a week ago, with no response.

« The promo photo is MISLEADING! »

WOW!! A BEST WESTERN PLUS on a dead-end street with a most unwelcoming entrance that would really scare even the elite of NASCAR...a 90 degree narrow entrance to the front....NO THE REAR....no the side of a "PLUS" property that looks as though Best Western bought this property as the very last small-very small piece of real estate left near the airport. The building itself newer and pleasingly decorated with soothing colors-clean and comforting...but just too damned cramped to really allow one to relax. The room clean, modern tastefully decorated, and relaxing but the view out-the window an adjacent vacant taller building not 30 feet across from your window to look at....NOT REAL PLEASING--LIKE YOU ARE IN A JAIL CELL!! Breakfast mediocre-fair...BUT parking is/was FREE....A REAL PLUS. The price a tad bit more than the overall experience.

    « Nice rooms »

Staff and parking were terrible. Staff not friendly at all. When asked a question they dismiss you. The parking is a joke. I've never seen anything like it. The rooms are very nice. Odd shower/bath combo. Refrigerator froze everything!

« Convenient stay for early flight »

We stayed here the night before our 8am flight to Hawaii. Very clean hotel. Nicely kept and updated! Our room was very large, I think we may have had the ADA room. But we booked a room with the King bed. We had a couch, large TV, microwave, and mini fridge. The only drawback was printing your boarding passes, the business center did not have a working printer. We had to email the information to the front desk and they couldn't get it. We went back to our room twice to try and resend. Very nice front desk though, they didn't seem upset that we had to keep sending it. They ended up finding our flight by the confirmation number on the airlines site and printing right from there. I recommend staying here for sure!

    « Great Hotels »

Love this hotel. The room had comfortable bed, clean and plenty of space. Also has a restaurant that's stay open until mid night. Airport and cruise ship port near by. Couldn't ask for more. Will go stay there again..........

« Received call from front desk at 2 a.m. »

I asked for a 4 a.m. wake up call. I received a 2 a.m. wake up call. When I complained to the front desk the clerk was rude. We had reserved a 5 a.m. shuttle and it came. Another customer was in the lobby and had reserved a 4:30 a.m. shuttle and it did not come. He was calling a cab as we were in the lobby waiting for our 5 a.m. shuttle.

« Works everytime for vacation travel »

We have stayed here several times now as a place to stay over night to catch a flight in and out of EWR for vacation. Never a problem leaving a car for 5+ days. Shuttle service is great for to and from airport. Friendly staff always and fair pricing

« Below Average for a BW Plus »

We chose this hotel both for proximity to the Airport and because it was a BW. Our initial experience was Ok, they got us our rooms early and the rooms seemed fine. The plumbing was so loud when we flushed the toilet that we thought the pipes were going to explode. The breakfast was average to good, but dont show up at 9:50 to eat, they clear the whole buffet at 10:00 sharp. Housekeeping likes to talk VERY loudly down the hallways at 9AM while cleaning other rooms like everyone is gone, so dont try and sleep in cuz you wont for long. This hotel is literally 9 mins from the shuttle pick up, but when you call the front desk to ask for a pick up after dark it takes 25 mins or longer to get there, not once but twice in three nights. Though the drivers were nice, not the sharpest when discussing when you will be picked up or dropped off. Now to top it all off when we got woken up in the middle of the night by partiers at midnight, the front desk was in no hurry to get them to settle down as we had to call twice before it was remedied. When I used sarcasm on the second call to tell the clerk I was going to tell them myself to settle down he thought that was going to be OK. The good things, bed was Ok, Lots of channels on TV, quiet from planes fro the most part, shower pressure was average to good. I would try another place next time I show up, perhaps even the BW 10 mins from the airport.

    « Shopping trip »

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights room was huge and spotless clean, staff were very polite and helpful, food in the restaurant was great and the shuttle service was great, would definitely recommend it especially if looking for a hotel close to Jersey Garden

« Transit stop at newark airport »

The hotel was fairly priced, is updated with modern amneties, and the staff we experienced on the night of 11/02 was very nice, we also got a round of wine on the house, which was very kind of the restaurant staff

    5
« perfect for ewr airport »

We stayed here for one night before flying out on our disney vacation, the staff was very polite and helpful, the place is a little hard to find, GPS got confused. They have a cafe and Bar on premises good sevice and resonably priced.

« 5 Minutes from Newark Liberty Airport »

Ideal hotel if flying in or out of Newark NJ Airport. Very clean and comfortable. Very quiet rooms, considering that it is within airport area. Several restaurants within 1-2 miles. Good internet connection.

    3
« Average hotel, bad shuttle experience »

24/7 shuttle but you have to call to get picked up. Long wait and crowded ride, especially after being on hold for 10 min. Offers shuttle to Newark train station but only 5 times a day, otherwise a $12.50 charge. You can always take the train to the airport station, airtran to airport and then pick up the shuttle. Shuttle is supposed to depart every 30 min from hotel to airport. I was waiting for 5am shuttle. "He's on the way." "He's refueling." Finally I had enough of the lies (as I had a 630am flight) and told them to get me a cab. Cab left at 530 and I made my 630 flight but only because it was a Sunday morning. No place to walk to from this hotel.

    3
« Good Value Choice, But Caution »

It's been our experience that airport area Best Westerns are usually not their best properties. This property had an excellent price point for the New York City area, and for us was convenient to do a little leaf peeping car trip to Western New Jersey. Our room was large and clean. The noise levels in the hotel are high and sometimes embarrassing to hear through the walls of the room. Front desk was both good and not so good--key problems. Breakfast was OK and shuttle was slow at times, but good and free! Neighborhood is industrial.

    5
    « Park and Fly »

This is the 3rd time we used the Best Western on International Rd, in Newark, NJ. It is clean, comfortable and very courteous staff. The shuttle going and coming home was prompt. Very important when you have to catch a flight and important when you are returning. We highly recommend for the park and fly.

    1
    « Hotel Not great »

Shuttle service and wait times are long. Breakfast is not good. Hotel is far from everything, you a not in walking distance of anything so you have no choice but to use the shuttle service which has inconvenient hours. I do not recommend this hotel for anyone visiting New York, you waste a lot of time commuting. We have stayed in New Jersey several time- ended up at this hotel not by choice but only because our regular hotel was completely booked( BW Robert Treat, Newark, New Jersey)

    2
« Did not get what we stayed there for. »

We stayed at this airport for three reasons: 1. To get a good night sleep before our flight out the next day. The heater in the room would wake us up every time it went on and it was very noisy. 2. Free breakfast. We didn't realize breakfast didn't start until 7AM which is when we would need to leave for the airport for our international flight. We ended up needing to leave the hotel at 6:30 so we could eat at the airport. 3. Easy shuttle since it is so close. The shuttle to the airport wasn't bad, but the directions for getting the shuttle pick up from the airport (basically just the phone number) were not very helpful. To be picked up after you have all of your bags from the international terminal you need to go back into the regular baggage pick up terminal, go upstairs to the train, take the train to the shuttle pick up, and then call for pick up. Just getting to the pickup can take 10 to 15 minutes. Once we called it took another 20 minutes to be picked up. Then back at the hotel we had to wait for the shuttle driver to go and get our vehicle which was surprisingly one of the fastest parts of the return trip especially since there were multiple groups waiting for their cars. Pros: -I filled out the hotel's survey online and they quickly sent an e-mail saying that they would be using my feedback to make improvements. I was impressed with the speed of the response - so maybe some of this will actually be improved. - The bathrooms looked newly remodeled. The hotel was clean. The bed was comfortable.

    « Friendly staff »

Stayed here before catching flight. Very clean room and friendly reception Free shutlle to airport .tv and free computer to use near reception, which passed time after I checked out. Very near airport

    4
    « Good airport stopover »

The hotel is close to the airport and whilst its outside appearance is unattractive, inside it is smart, comfortable, and has good amenities. Ideal for an overnight stay near the airport and I would stay again.

« Stayed night before cruise »

We stayed here because of its proximity to the port. The hotel is literally in the middle of a huge industrial area so we had no choice but to eat there but not to worry their food is excellent and plentiful! They provide a shuttle to Penn station from where we caught the Path train into NY city for a day of sightseeing. The shuttle is reliable and we had no worries getting back after an amazing if tiring day of trying to fit in as much as possible in one day. Our hotel was praticaly full of fellow cruisers and we paid to join the shuttle which left us to the cruise ship next day. Staff in the hotel were friendly and helpful. Our room was basic and the only area to eat or drink was in the bar which too was very basic but served it's purpose. All in all this hotel worked well for us . If and I hope I do return to New York I would choose somewhere more central with more in the surrounding area to explore.

    « Great choice! »

I needed to be at Newark Airport by 6 a.m. for an international flight, so I stayed the night at this outstanding Best Western. Don't let the google map discourage you with the hotel's neighborhood. I was picked up from the Amtrak to the hotel by the hotel's free shuttle, had dinner at the hotel and stayed the night in an A+++ room (2 queen beds, all the amenities), and had a wake up call so I could have a breakfast snack and then the free shuttle to my terminal. It was the very best way to go. The room was excellent as was the staff. And the BLT sandwich I had for dinner was actually the best BLT I've ever had in my life. I sent my compliments to the chef. It was so thick with real, thick slices of bacon, the tomatoes slices were big and thick, and the lettuce was fresh & crisp. Thank you, Best Western Plus Newark Airport Plus. I'll be using you again.

« Clean room with Fridge and Microwave »

    « Great value »

Good hotel, great, helpful staff. Very efficient. Left our car there for 2 weeks our flight home was delayed, arrived back in the early morning hours - our shuttle driver was waiting for us as well as our car back at the hotel. He made sure we got back to the hotel without a hitch. Great place to stay.

    4
« Great Hotel for the Price »

Clean, large rooms. Bed was comfortable and the bathroom was good too. Hotel restaurant was good for a late dinner after a long flight. Only dissapointing aspect of the hotel was the breakfast - extremely limited options and the food looked like it was just taken out of the microwave bag that it was heated in. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for the price, especially when compared to other NYC area hotels.

    1
    « Very bad experience »

This was a terrible hotel experience. There were bedbugs, bad smells, ridiculous noise in plumbing. Never had something like this happen at Best Western before. Too bad. I definitely do not recommend this hotel.

    2
    « Subpar hotel »

Falsely informed that there were restaurants within walking distance. This is incorrect. Staff has an "I don't care" type of attitude. Room was just as disappointing. Phone didn't work. Alarm clock didn't work. Beds were old. Breakfast was decent. This place is fine for an overnight stay, but any longer, look elsewhere

    2
« Large room, noisy corridor and thin walls »

We were staging for our next morning's flight. This hotel is reasonable and has a free airport shuttle service. The room was big, but the walls and door were very thin - heard everything from the hall and from the people showering in the next room, along with the train running by. Bathroom had a tub/shower combination, which was OK. Price was right, but next time we'll pick a more "substantial" hotel.

    2
    « Thumbs down! »

We reserve a king size bed, but were given two double beds; told the bar/restaurant was open until 1:30am, but was only open until 11:30pm; the breakfast was unattended and unappealing; shuttle service took forever with unfriendly, perhaps unhappy, drivers. Pay a little extra and stay somewhere else!

    4
« Great for easy access to NYC & Airport »

This was an excellent hotel if you want the basics, free breakfast and free shuttles for access to other places. There was a free airport shuttle all day, and free shuttles to Newark Penn Station during selected hours. The room we stayed in was HUGE with a nice bed, DirecTV, fridge and microwave. Breakfast was great and served long hours. As long as you don't expect to walk anywhere from the hotel, it's great. I was glad we didn't drive there, as I feel I would have been completely lost!! Thanks for a great stay!

    « Amazing Front Desk! »

What a nice way to start a vacation. We have a very early flight in the am, so wanting to be close to the airport... And found the Best Western Plus, online. When we arrived, Pedro met us at the front desk and he was very helpful. He helped sign us up for a shuttle to the airport and directed us to long term parking. The hotel is updated and comfortable.

    2
    « Not what I expected »

Pros: Bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good. Cons: Elevators were not in working order, so a member of our party who'd had recent knee surgery had to hike 4 floors. The shower door handle fell off when we opened the door and the dispensers which held soap, shampoo, etc. were empty. There were stains on the comforter. There were not enough parking stalls in the lot, so the side street was the only option to park and the neighborhood didn't exude confidence that the vehicle would be safe. I tried to contact the manager about our concerns and to ask for a price adjustment, but since it was the weekend, he wasn't in and the CSR at the front desk said she couldn't help since I had booked the room through a third party. I called the manager twice and left messages and he never returned my calls.

    4
    « Cruise Package »

We stayed the night prior to our cruise. The room was clean and comfortable. We had the morning breakfast which was very good. Our transportation to and from the cruise port was flawless and our vehicle was secure while we were cruising. Even though we were near the airport, the room was very quiet.

    4
    « quiet and helpful »

The hotel may not look attractive because of its location at the Airport, BUT it is quiet, and inside it is very clean and attractive and rooms are well appointed. It is one of few at the airport that provides a no hassle hot breakfast with the stay and a good price. The airport shuttle is helpful, too. I stay here for business most of my stays in Newark city or on my way through the airport.

    5
    « Excellent Stay »

Very pleased and impressed with the service, breakfast and overall experience at this best western plus. Staff is very professional and rooms are very neat, clean and modern. Issues were taken care of immediately.

    4
    « Not a bad place »

Great hotel for the money. Room was nice and clean, friendly staff, and breakfast was superb!! Nice an close to the airport, an parking was $8 day... not the greatest view out the window, right across an alley from what looked like an abandoned apartment building... not at exactly the nicest part of town...

    4
« Great Stop Over Hotel »

Arrived at the hotel late evening and there were plenty of friendly staff to help me with my stuff. Booked a single room and got a room with two double beds, a bathroom, and an extra large tub! It was definitely what I needed after travelling all day. Breakfast was nice. Was nice to get the free shuttle but took me to the wrong terminal, luckily right one was only a few minutes away and I wasn't in a rush.

    4
    « Pre Cruise »

Just spend 1 night at the hotel before boarding our cruise ship. The staff was very helpful and arranged for our transfer to the port the next day.The restaurant was good and the room were spacious and very clean.

    5
« Stay at Best Western, New Jersey »

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in Usa! It was above mt expectations. The room was big neatly laid out beds, sofas etc. I had stayed at hotels in many cities but this was the BEST! There was complete privacy (no sounds coming through the walls). The Bathroom was clean. When we were leaving the room I saw leakage in the wash basin and the towels got wet. I hope the hotel staff gets it fixed asap! Apart from this we loved the place especially my kids!

    4
    « Good Hotel »

The Hotel was clean, and the front desk staff was pretty helpful. The beds were comfortable. We had two queen beds and a sofa sleeper and the position of the sofa sleeper made it awkward to exit when the sofa bed was pulled out.

  • 5
    « Excellent Stay »

Everyone (Receptionists and Shuttle Bus Drivers) were all polite and very helpful. Rooms were comfortable and spacious and were good for our stay which was 14 days. Shuttle bus to Penn Station Newark was very good and always on time, as you were in New York within 1 hour via Path.

    4
« Convienence but in an ugly area »

Everything you can expect out of a BW Plus. Airport shuttle was great. Draw backs is that there are no restaurants in the area besides the lounge in the lobby. Parking is limited and small. Do not venture out as the area is as ugly as could be.

    5
« Great for Airport Lay Over »

Hotel is close to EWR and reasonably priced for its location. Shuttle runs 24 hours a day so is convenient. Staff is friendly and professional. Breakfast is usual BW fare and beds are very comfortable. It's our go-to hotel when transiting through Newark Airport.

    4
    « Nice, Clean Hotel »

Hotel was just what I needed to refresh. Rooms were clean, staff friendly. Straight forward hotel close to New York CIty without NY Prices. The wi fi was good. Out of the many hotels I have stayed at, this hotel had excellent water pressure. I am particularly picky about this, and this hotel delivered. I also enjoyed the waffles during breakfast. Thank you

    5
« Next by the airport good value »

Good value Clean Good A/C Parking Good Internet Remote area (as the airport) Accessible form high way very very near the airport !!! Flat TV .. many channels.. Friendly staff Bath with high water pressure I did not eat there so i can not comment on that Will come again if i i will have an early flight..

    « Enjoyed our stay »

We enjoyed our experience here! The front desk was very helpful , the rooms were very clean and the buffet style breakfast was very good , there was something there for all plus the coffee was good too. The shuttle service ran every hour to Newark Penn Station until 10pm. Would return again! Thanks Chris

« Average for overnight airport stay »

Stayed for one night. Pros: clean, spacious, free wifi, free breakfast, free shuttle to your desired terminal. Cons: overall low quality hotel; you need to preorder the shuttle when you arrive at the airport, otherwise it will not come! Breakfast is poor, only decent thing was the oranges. They had scrambled eggs, waffles and dry croissants. Air con is really loud.

    3
« OK Hotel, great staff »

I stayed at the Best Western Plus when I had an overnight layover and an early flight out. I picked it because it was close to the airport, and it looked like a quick trip back and forth to the airport. It wasn't. It took well over an hour in the late evening to get picked up by the hotel shuttle. By the time the shuttle arrived, there were so many people waiting that some were sitting on each other's laps to fit in the bus. Long line at the desk, but the one desk clerk was great. He had a lot of rushed people, some angry, and he just stayed calm and cheerful and efficient, and got everybody through quickly. Even though he had no help, and other employees seemed to be leaving for the day. I was very impressed with him, though I think the management should do a little better on the staffing and organization. The room was large, with microwave, tv, refrigerator, coffeemaker, iron and safe. Bed pretty comfortable. However, everything was old, and the room was dark and gloomy. Carpets old and stained. No hot water in the shower, and the bathroom smelled. It looked clean, but something is wrong with the plumbing, because the smell was pretty strong. Noisy air conditioner fan. I had a 6 am flight, and had to be in the lobby at 3 AM, because that was the only opening on the shuttle back to the airport. So, with the late pickup and early departure, I didn't actually spend much time at the hotel. If I stay over in Newark again, I will probably try a different place.

    3
« Convenient to airport and Penn Station »

Best location for commuting between New York and New Jersey. They provide shuttle service to airport and train station for metro connections. Breakfast is nice. Room service are also impressive. Just half mile from the airport. We stayed for 5 days.

    2
« OK Hotel. Small Breakfast Area. Rooms could be cleaner »

Rooms were not the cleanest. Parking was tight; stayed their the night before a cruise. Breakfast area was packed in the mornings; not the best selection of food. The staff was nice and helpful. The area the hotel is in isn't the best; but hotel grounds feel safe.

    « Would recommend. »

We requested a nonsmoking room and when we got there, there was a heavy smoke smell as soon as we opened the door of our room. The lady on from was really sweet and gave us another room that didn't smell and was larger for our family with kids. Room was very clean. Nice staff. Free Breakfast and parking were both great! Only drawback was sometimes the elevator doesn't work.

    4
    « Celebration Weekend »

Great hotel, very good, helpful people. Rooms comfortable. Easy access from airport. I usually stay here each time I'm in New Jersey. Nice bar, good food. Transportation to airport and bus station. Close to New York City.

    2
    « Disappointed »

We booked this hotel as it was close to New York City and it was our first time visiting the area. The hotel website advertises shuttles to and from the train station as well as the airport which we thought would be convenient. Two separate afternoons the hotel shuttle did not arrive to pick us up at the Penn station as requested and when we phoned the hotel (every half hour), we were told it was on it's way. Another hotel shuttle drove us one evening because he felt bad seeing us sit outside the train station for 1.5 hours. The front desk staff were unfriendly, unknowledgeable and unhelpful. When we asked what restaurants were in the area that were unique, we were given iHop and Red Lobster as options. When we went to let them know our shuttle did not show up at all even after phoning multiple times, they told us we would not be charged for it (which was not the concern). The room was extremely hot and the register said it was 60 degrees. When we asked about the air conditioner working, they said it was working fine. My husband and I both agreed that overall we liked our first trip to NYC but the hotel and lack of service put a damper on the trip.

    5
    « Outstanding customer service »

Wonderful hotel and an amazing staff. The rooms were clean, quiet and updated. The shuttle to the airport was easy and quick. Best of all was the fantastic customer service. The manager, MJ, and his team were so incredibly helpful. I had left my camera battery in my room. We were out west and could not find a replacement. MJ and his team found it and shipped it overnight to me so we could take pictures on our vacation. I cannot thank him and his team enough - they truly went beyond the call of duty on this one.

    3
    « It's a hotel...don't expect much more »

The shuttle service is unreliable, the hallways are like saunas (although the room a/c is great), breakfast was pretty awful. Our first night we received a queen room that clearly hadn't been remodeled - even the TV channels were less. Nights 2-4 we had a very nice, remodeled, King room with 100+ TV channels. Back and forth to the train station were reliable and great, but airport return shuttles were unreliable. Nothing around hotel so you are stuck eating in their bar.

    4
    « Convenient »

Close to airport. Frequent free shuttle. Basic but comfortable. Room was very spacious. The big TV was nice and programming choices was plentiful. Internet was slow at times and intermittent in availability.

    3
« Okay but needs more attention to detail »

Hotel is Okay for stay over for next morning flight. Staff is courteous and attentive. They have upgraded facilities. They use airport lot including their own. Wake up call did not happen. Soap one bar in room machines for soap in room empty. Just a bit more attention to detail will make this place better.

    4
« Clean and comfortable night stay »

The hotel was clean, and comfortable. Met all our needs. Only note I will add is that from being from out of town, we didn't realize there was very little parking available. We had to park down the street and walk back to the Hotel.

    5
    « EXCELLENT SERVICE- GREAT G.M. »

I stayed at the BW Newark while visiting family. My trip was last minute, but the General Manager (MJ) personally accommodated my needs. The staff I encountered were knowledgeable and friendly. The shuttle service was quick and efficient (Mercedes Sprinter is a GREAT touch). The rooms are spacious and clean. I would definitely stay again and recommend BW Newark.

    3
    « Don't expect service »

Decent hotel close to the airport but there were quite a few others that were better situated. Don't try to get your car into the parking lot if you value the finish on it. Room was good and quiet but don't expect help quickly as they are very understaffed. Restaurant was not allergy friendly and there are no other restaurants nearby. There is a shuttle that will take you to a mall (15 minutes, $25 round trip). Shuttle was quick and mostly friendly but could be difficult to get through to page them. If you are put on hold, hang up and call back later as only one guy to man the phone and the front desk.

    « Very good hotel »

Very pleasantly surprised! Stayed at a lot of Best Westerns and this one was one of the best. Very clean room, free parking and free breakfast and free WiFi, that's nice! Didn't find any other hotel in the vicinity that provided all three freebies in the base rate. The shuttle did arrive after 40 minutes of requesting it from the airport parking lot but that seems to be a problem with all hotels around EWR. Will stay again.

    « Huge mistake! »

Staying at this hotel was such a mistake. We arrived Saturday evening after a long day of traveling. We went down to the restaurant and a waitress took our order around 8pm. An hour and a half later, our food was delivered. Three of the dishes were wrong - they were chicken quesadillas and we had ordered cheese (we're vegetarian). At this point it was 9:30pm. Our kids were exhausted and hungry. The waitress took the incorrect meals back to the kitchen and we waited some more. After another half hour, we still did not have replacement meals and other customers had gotten their meals. We were told there was only one cook in the back - not our problem. Waiting OVER TWO HOURS for a meal is unacceptable. And how does it take over a half hour to make three simple replacement cheese quesadillas?! At 10pm we gave up and left the restaurant. It was an infuriating disaster and ruined our night. The next morning we spoke with the hotel manager, who informed us that the restaurant is outsourced (and implied it is therefore not his responsibility. He apologized for them and said it was unacceptable and he would speak with the restaurant manager. He asked us for our room number and said "something would be done" for us. Well, nope - nothing was "done" for us. Additionally, half the lights in our room didn't work. The room was dirty (food behind the couch and hair from previous guests in the bathroom) and the room reeked of cigarette smoke. Disgusting.

« GREAT HOTEL, ACTUAL HIDDEN JEWEL »

HAD a great stay. The hotel is located in a hidden area however it is easy to get to. The hotel property is absolutely beautiful and clean. The breakfast was very good. They offer a hot breakfast complete with sausage, eggs, Danish, bread ,cereal and a few other great items, so a really large selection of great fresh items. The only thing that is keeping me from giving this review 5 stars is the parking situation. The parking for this hotel is utterly ridiculous very cramped very difficult to get in and to get out. Other than that, the hotel room was very spacious very clean, complete with lots of clean towels and pillows. I would definitely stay at this property again the next time I'm in town. The rate is very reasonable. They do have a shuttle that runs every half an hour on the hour However, I didn't have an opportunity to use it. They also offer ong term parking for those that are taking flights at $8 a day. I would definitely recommend this hotel to someone who loves classy hotel stays with awesome service and enjoy staying beautiful properties. I am a very harsh critic, and it takes alot to impress me, I must admit, best western plus has definitely impressed my husband and i.

    « Clean and friendly »

Stayed one night prior to flying out of Newark airport. Hotel is clean, modern and front desk staff friendly. Left too early for the breakfast but muffins and coffee left out for the early departures. Free wifi. Airport shuttle takes 10 min or so. Had dinner at the Restaurant and it was average.

    4
« Quick Stay Before Airport »

I have to say when I first pulled into the hotel area I was not thrilled with location. The proximity to Newark Airport was perfect. Free shuttle service to airport. Staff was very friendly. Restaurant was good enough for a quick bite. Carlos was our waiter and very attentive. The room was a very well appointed and spacious suite. The bed was incredibly comfortable. I actually wanted to strip it down to see what kind of mattress it was but I didn't have time. I would definitely stay her the next time I am flying out of Newark Airport.

Not what I expected from Best Western Freddy was Awesome at check in but when the next day came we were promised a room change that never happened Sorry, and I really really like this hotel, its been five years i have been coming to this hotel, there is always a first time

    4
    « excellent staff »

The staff at this hotel tries very hard to help travelers manage their stay at a very busy location. They have helped us numerous times to make our flight and manage our car and made certain we made our flight in plenty of time. We have stayed here numerous times and always the staff is cordial, informative, and professional.

« Good location outside the city. »

Shuttle service to Penn station was good. The room was a good size. Water took a few minutes to warm up in the shower. Food in the hotel restaurant was tasty and reasonably priced. Breakfast had good variety.

    4
    « Pleasant Stay »

My stay at Best Western was nice, the staff were pleasant the lobby and room was very clean. The bed was a bit soft, but I did sleep well. The only bad thing was parking the parking was very limited, but overall my stay was great

    3
    « average hotel »

I was arriving at Best Western in the middle of the night and was just looking for a good night's sleep. Unfortunately the hotel is badly soundproofed so that I could hear almost everything from the neighboring rooms (it was also bad luck that there was a party going on in one of the rooms on my floor which made it particularly hard to fall asleep). The rooms are averagely equipped but very clean, the service is fine but the breakfast buffet is a joke especially if you're trying to eat healthily.

    « Decent Place for a Stop-Over »

Stayed here because it is convenient to the airport and price is decent. Very nice room. Shuttle worked well getting from/to the airport. Breakfast doesn't start until 7, which doesn't work well if you have an early flight. They do provide coffee and muffins earlier, but could do a little more for early travelers.

    1
    « What a dump... »

Lousy location, squeezed into a chain-link lined car park - with a touch of Bonfire of the Vanities. The hotel itself is looking tired, the food on offer is lack-lustre, and certainly no-where you'd want to stay -other than for a late arrival and early departure. And the transit vans only go every 30 minutes.

    5
« excellent except for overnight staff »

beautiful hotel for stay before flight. just give yourself a little extra time for shuttle. Driver showed up 20 minutes late. This was our second time staying here before a flight. The first time was seamless this time we had a hiccup with the shuttle and desk clerk on duty at 3:20am He was NOT pleasant but I won't let one person dampen my experience with this hotel.. Overall it was great

    5
« Good Food Good Times »

We got stranded at Newark and decided to stay at this hotel it is in a very industrial place but we were happy when we arrived at 8 pm the front desk staff was friendly, went to the restaurant had a great conversation with Bartenders met a Couple from new zealand ended up staying there till close. The Restaurant staff is surely the Gem of this Property.

    « Night before NYC »

This seemed like a logical stop before going into NYC the next day. Beds were only good, pet peeve is no ice machine on each floor. Parking is terrible, small lot, I was blocked in by another car until they checked out, no concern from hotel

    5
    « Good Stay-over Hotel Choice »

BW tends to be my go-to for quick overnight stops while travelling. I'm not sure why this property is considered a "Plus" but it certainly hit the marks for clean, quiet and convenient to the airport. Be sure to ask exactly when the shuttle heads to the airport....at 430am it was necessarily on-time.

    1
    « Dark and dingy »

Although we chose this hotel because it was close to the airport and provided shuttle service, the experience was not pleasant. For the cost of the room--it was not worth it. I wish I would have selected another property instead of going with my BW rewards selection.

« Short stay at Newark Airport »

We had reserved room because of early flight the next morning. I was able to return rental car the night before, and made plans to have shuttle pick us up at airport and take us to hotel, and back the next morning for our flight, altho we had to leave too early to enjoy their full breakfast. Room immense, with Jacuzzi! 2 king beds, fell asleep immediately! Lounge/restaurant convenient, as was shuttle to airport. Would stay here again. Happy with their service and cleanliness.

    4
    « Very clean »

Pros: Very clean rooms. Free shuttle to airport & New York City trains. Good array of breakfast items, both hot and cold. Helpful front desk staff. Bar & restaurant on premises. Con: No outside space to walk.

    4
    « Park N Fly »

This hotel was a very convenient location for the Newark airport. We ended up going around the block to enter the hotel as we missed the exit. Sketchy area at night. Parking is very limited. when you park N fly, your car is moved to another location. Where? I don't know, but it was back in the lot when we returned. Our room was very spacious with two queen beds and a sleep sofa. Needed to get new sheets for the sofa bed as I was not convinced they were clean sheets. Check the alarm clock as ours went off at 12am and startled the crap out of me. I could not get back to sleep again. Shuttle left for the airport for us at 5am and is a 5 minute drive to the airport. Pick up wait time was about 15-20 minutes. All in all this was a decent place with a friendly staff and would stay here again if flying out of Newark airport.

« Convenient to EWR, shuttle and breakfast included in price »

Stayed here for 1 night between international flight from Rome and connecting flight to FL the following day. One phone call at airport and shuttle pick-up was prompt at P-4. Morning shuttle was delayed leaving hotel so I suggest allowing extra time. Shuttle takes passengers directly to various departing areas as well. Reception desk provided efficient check-in and check-out. Buffet breakfast included a variety of both hot and cold choices.

    4
    « Very good option »

I booked for us because the EWR proximity and the price.I was surprise to feel very comfortable, fast check in, good restaurant (many options), some complimentary like tooth padte snd teeth brush ( our luggage stayed at the airport when the next international flight is within 12 hours). Comfortable room ( bed, pillows, ac, etc). Breakfast starts at 4 am with many stuffs but if your flight is later get full breakfast after 7am. The prices change a lot so when I tried to book for the night June 17 the price went to $150 instead of $110.49.

« Nice hotel but three rooms in four nights! »

Arrived late Thursday, received prompt friendly check-in. However, when we arrived at our room there was an alarm going off in the room next door. Called front desk and was told it would be taken care of. Fifteen minutes later alarm was still beeping. Went downstairs and was there was a check-in crush but he would get to it as soon as he could. Think it took another 10 minutes. About an hour later our refrigerator began to make a clunking sound about every 15 minutes. Having travelled all day we put up with it. Reported noise to front office first thing in a.m. And was told they would fix it while we were out. Returned to room around 8 and nothing was done. Night desk guy apologized said there were no rooms to move us to and asked could I just unplug it. We had snacks and water for the next day but just took our losses. Saturday morning manager was told about the situation and said we would have a new room when we came back. True to hrs word he upgraded us to Jr. Suite. An hour after settling water started pouring out of the ceiling into the tub near a light fixture. Once again front desk guy claimed they were full. My husband told him what a safety hazard it was -water and electricity - and he found us another room. So 3 rooms in 4 nights is not a good thing.

    3
    « Room Smells »

Stayed here for a couple nights and took the shuttle to Newark Station for NJ Transit to New York Penn Station. The whole shuttle-train thing is convenient and doesn't take more than 40 minutes. The shuttle to and from the airport is great too. I didn't have to wait for a long time for pick up. The bad part about this hotel is the room itself. The room smells even though it claims to be a non-smoking room. There is only 1 small window in the room and look out to a sketchy building 10 feet away. In the middle of the night, there's a fire alarm. Seems to be a common thing as other reviewers also mentioned it. The room is charged at a relatively low price but I would definitely pay more to stay at a different hotel next time.

    3
« Nice hotel sketchy location and service »

We arrived on a Thursday evening around 6 after a full day of travel from west. Quick, pleasant check in. We arrive at our room to hear a constant beeping alarm from room next door. Thinking it may be a smoke alarm alert desk. Fifteen minutes later alarm is still beeping. Go down to desk associate accompanies husband back upstairs ... Problem solved. After finally settling into our room around 10 pm discover fridge is making throttling sound every 30 minutes or so. Long day so we fall asleep but noise continues throughout night. Report it first thing in the morning but upon return to room after 9 pm noise is still there. "Note was not made in red book" to report or fix. Asked for another room or fridge - we have purchased perishables -"we are all booked and I can not move a fridge" according to who I believe is night manager Pedro. "Come down in the morning and talk to our manager MJ because This a big thing and we need to get this fixed." Tonight the throttling noise is occurring every 15 minutes. Anxiously awaiting to speak with MJ in the morning after we have plugged fridge and lost our perishables.

« Great location at a great price with free breakfast! »

Overall, the location of this hotel is perfect if you are interested in touring NYC. You won't pay NYC prices, but you will still be able to have access to the city and a safe environment. This place offers free breakfast, which most hotels in the area do not. They have a transportation service that allows you access to the Penn Station, which takes you right into NYC.

    4
    « Short pre-flight stay »

Good option for a quick pre or post flight stay. Free shuttles every half hour to the airport was very helpful. Will also pick you up from the nearby train station if you call when you arrive at the station. Room was spacious and incredibly clean and seemed to be recently renovated. Restaurant/bar on site is the only option for food nearby but was open late.

    4
« Awful area, good for one night airport stopover only »

The hotel fire alarm went off at 5:30 am and caught me in a fright. Called reception and they said it was the steam in a shower that caused the fire alarm. Could not go back to sleep after that so was very unhappy and tired when I checked out.

    « BUS SHORTLE »

we had a nice time in the hotel, the staff a great and ready to help with a welcoming face but please ensure not to overload your driver because the gentleman that dropped us in the airport was sleeping while driving.

    2
    « Park - Sleep - Fly »

Hotel was nice with dark updates. Hotel staff need better customer service skills. Desk attendant in AM asked if it was my first time using ParkSleepFly & when I said yes, he just put a sticker on my claim card & appeared annoyed when I started to ask questions. I could understand if it were busy, but it was only he & I in the lobby. When I returned I called the desk for the shuttle & was told the driver would be there shortly. I called again after >10 minutes and the same person who answered told me the driver was on his way. (You can see the airport from the hotel - it takes less than 4mins). When the driver arrived, he told me he was just at the airport dropping people off & when he went back to the hotel, the person who answered the shuttle phone told him she forgot to tell him to pick me up. Expect a 15-20min wait after you call for a shuttle.

    « Nice Hotel »

Stayed in May 2016 for 1 night before setting off on a cruise from NJ. Close to airport and sea-port. A free airport shuttle, and shuttles to near by train stations and sea-port. Clean, tidy and very spacious rooms with big comfy beds. Very powerful shower and again very clean - it was excellent for our purpose.

    2
    « Unclean, horrible location »

The hotel is not close to the airport, it's also not close to anything else. This means you need to take rides everywhere - and apart from the airport - the options are very limited. The room was very big, yet I found very bad mold in the bathroom (and I actually had one of the best rooms in the hotel). I only discouvered this on my last day there which was bad since I am allergic to the stuff. I will not be back.

« Barely value for money... »

Had a one night stay here before leaving from Newark airport. The hotel is situated in a shady area of Newark which looks depressing. Rooms are spacious and clean, but are a bit dated . Breakfast is barely on par.. The receptionist was not very friendly when we arrived. The assistant was on the other hand friendly and helped us with food and beverages. The hotel has a horrendous fee for late check out: 25 usd pr hour! There is also a fee for safe in room. Never heard of that before...

    « Excellent stay »

I was traveling on business and needed a convenient place to stay close to Newark Airport. This Best Western offered a great price on a park and fly option. The General Manager was very helpful and assisted us with our reservation. The room was very clean and quiet, perfect for a good nights rest before our flight. I did not have time to use any of the other hotel facilities however they looked great. I would not hesitate to stay here again especially if I was flying out of Newark Airport. Thanks for the wonderful experience.

« Our Home Away From Home to fly and do N.Y.C. »

We have stayed here for nearly 15 years and know many of the staff. They treat us like family and the shuttle services are excellent. The full breakfast buffet is an added value to your stay!! The hotel restaurant has excellent food at very reasonable prices so no need to order in or leave the facility for dining.

    « Wonderful stay »

I was traveling out of the country and this was my last stop in the USA. Very good way to end my time in the US for awhile. I will stay here again. I was picked up at the airport and shuttled back to the hotel. The driver named Robert was very helpful and kind. He drove me back to the airport at 4 am the next morning and made my stay very special. I think that is is important when you meet good people who are willing to take care of you to let people know

« Exactly what you need, not much more. »

Very nice, clean, newly renovated hotel, right near the Newark airport. Park and stay is a great option for a long trip. Airport pickup and drop off was very easy, and timely. The hotel does have a restaurant inside, as there is nothing nearby. All outside restaurants are a bit of a drive on the other side of the airport. Hotel staff were all extremely nice. The parking lot is EXTREMELY tight; tough to get out let alone with luggage. A Good one night stay, would use again if I flew out of Newark.

    1
« Only in an extreme emergency! »

Tried overcharging us for the room, glad I checked before we departed. Shuttle pickup at the airport took 45 minutes, verbally told 20, ticket states 15...FYI. Nice rooms otherwise, with bar and restaurant.

« Stay and cruise package »

We recently stayed at this hotel as part of the cruise and stay package. We flew in the day before our cruise. The hotel is in the airport district and has no nearby conveniences (restaurants or convenience stores). The hotel allowed us to check in early around noon. The room was nice and large with a loveseat. After check-in, we then caught the free shuttle to Penn Station Newark to ride the PATH to World Trade. We saw a Broadway show and got back to Newark late in the evening. The free shuttle from Penn Station to the hotel had stopped. We had to ride the Amtrak from Penn to the airport. We then used the hotel shuttle from the airport. The breakfast was nice. We signed up for the 2nd shuttle to the cruise port. It left on time and got us to the cruise port safely. We were given a voucher for our ride back after the cruise to the airport. The service for this return shuttle was slow and less convenient.

    « Great 10 night stay...... »

We have just got back from a 10 night stay, got picked up from the airport by the hotel shuttle, check in was quick and painless and our room was clean and tidy. Even though you are very close to the airport you can't hear any aircraft noise, but unfortunately you can hear other peoples noise!...Not really the hotels fault but some people are just way too LOUD!!.... The beds are lovely large and comfy, loved having a big fridge and a microwave, coffee maker was provided never used it as I had my travel kettle... The breakfast was really very good. Having a shuttle to and from Penn Street Station was fantastic, all shuttle drivers were good but one stood out (Jose) very nice courteous and friendly. Getting into New York is no problem thanks to the Path trains... Would stay here again, but bring ear plugs just in case. (out of our 10 night stay, only 2 nights were affected by loud people)

« Very Good But Could Do Better »

This hotel is very close to the airport 5 min shuttle ride, Check in was quick and professional from check in to your room took 5 min after a long flight we were glad to get to the room. Our room (412) was clean and had a very comfy big bed they have a refrigerator and microwave for guest to use nice size bathroom with 2 sinks. Only thing we had to grumble about was that the rooms don't have very good soundproofing we could hear everything people slamming doors next doors tv on very load on one of our 10days at the hotel someone checked in late and they woke us up banging doors and talking very loudly but getting past that it was a great room and was all we needed after a long day in New York. The hotel have a free shuttle to penn station that goes every day from 7 till 11am the picks up from 7 till 11pm the driver Jose is fantastic really makes the drive easy is pleasure to talk too brilliant he goes out of his way for you make sure you get to the stations quick as possible he finishes every day at 5 so only does the morning drop offs one night the driver left the station early before our pick up so we had to catch a taxi when we returned to the hotel and told the lady at the front desk she refunded us our taxi fare this to us is brilliant service and will make us return to this hotel next time we come back to newark other then the rooms have poor soundproofing this is a fantastic little hotel!!

    « Close & convenient to NYC »

We stayed here for access to NYC and Newark Airport. The shuttle was reliable and convenient for both the airport and Newark Penn Station. We arrived early from a cruise and were invited to have breakfast while waiting for the next shuttle. Staff secured our luggage so we could begin our visit of NYC.

    « Great place »

The staff was very friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. Free shuttle to airport and Penn Station. I would definitely return. We called last minute (stranded at airport. No rental cars available) We just returned from Europe and were tired , we just wanted a room to sleep. The beds were comfortable. The restaurant down on lobby was nice. Great Continental breakfast.

5 minute shuttle ride from airport. Free shuttle. I could even reserve the shuttle to give me a ride at 3:30 AM to catch an early morning flight! Check-in was easy. Hotel was clean. Unfortunately I left too early in the morning to enjoy the free breakfast from 7 to 10:30.

« Fast Shuttle service to liberty »

Restaurant service and food was surprisingly good. Nice to have at hotel. Shuttle arrived promptly at 6:00 am and was very quick. Rooms were basic and not cleanest but passable. Website says they provide hair dryers, but I couldn't ever get one even when I went down to front desk after 45 min of waiting. Complimentary breakfast doesn't start until 7:00am but you can get coffee and a muffin.

« Perfect when you have an early flight »

Stayed at the Best Western overnight for an early flight, left my car there for 5 days. Was picked up early in the morning 4am for a 6am flight. The shuttle driver was prompt and very nice. When it was time to return home from my trip my car was in the same place I had left it. The same shuttle driver picked us up right on time. The price was good and it was a pleasure, the room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Although I will say the food in the resturant was dissapointing.

« Near the airport and convenient »

I stayed here on a recent trip to NYC where I flew into Newark late. Was easy to get the hotel shuttle arranged for pickup and check in was really quick. The room itself was clean and well decorated. Since I had a late flight, I tried to sleep in but realized that the walls were pretty thin. I'd recommend ear plugs! Otherwise, the shuttle was easy to organize to the train station. I stayed there again on my way out before an early flight and had no issues. Would definitely recommend for those flying into Newark. The parking lot did look small, so I'd be careful when parking!

    « Ripped Off!! »

Chose this as a familiar name stayed in many Best Western Hotels before, as the hotel was close to Newark Airport & we had a 7 hour wait for our connecting flight, we decided to book in so we could have a shower, freshen up & grab a few hours sleep, our travelling companions did the same. Prepaid online but was asked to give a card swipe on arrival for any room service etc, unlikely, we explained as we are showering & sleeping but handed over two cards. Twenty four hours later having left the hotel & arrived at our final destination we received call from our bank asking about numerous payments made at one location, numerous payments came to £850 of unauthorised payments all at this hotel. We blocked the card, told the bank they were not made by us & they assured us they would get to the bottom of it. The following day our companions discovered they have had exactly the same thing on the card they used all at this hotel, theirs was over £1000!!!! When our friends called the hotel manager he asked for the all the card details, including security number, so he could check the system!! Did he think we would be stupid enough to repeat the process?? I would not recommend anyone stay here. The staff were unhelpful even while we were there let alone once we discovered the theft.

    « Airport Hotels »

I would highly recommend this property for it's proximity to the Newark Airport as well as NYC. I was travelling with a group of teenagers, the breakfast buffet was perfect. The shuttle service was seamless and when the larger group arrived for check-in, all rooms and key cards were ready, this also made check-in seamless.

« Blood and Urine on my Bed and forced to stay in the room »

My experience was the worst ever. We were foreced to sleep in a room where the bed had blood and urine on it from a previous guest. The night attendant was rude and told us there were no rooms available. Come to find out we there were rooms available but it was a suite so that's why he didn't offer it to me. we were transferred to the suite the next morning after i spoke to the general manager. We were exposed to blood and urine and are worried about our health in the future.

    « WORST PLACE EVER »

I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, many were low prices. This place was the absolute worst experience. The parking is terrible. Just expect your vehicle is going to get dinged because of the tiny parking spaces. Don't expect the staff to assist you with anything. When I tried to check in they were too busy on their cell phones to inform me where the luggage carts were, or how to get to my room. The shuttle driver told me where I could temporarily park. There is only two elevators. I found out the one I too didn't go all the way to the floor I needed. After transferring the luggage to the other elevator with my young daughter I noticed the distinct strong smell of marihuana. The last people on the elevator was actually hotel employees. We initially couldn't find our room because the numbers were incorrect and scipped our room number, which was actually further down the hall between two other numbers. The room was dingy and the bed didn't look made up properly, and the sheets didn't seem replace. The TV wasn't plugged in and there was an extension cord with wires crossed. Upon trying to plug in the TV I found a used plate with leftover food inside the TV cabinet. I tried calling the desk and was immediately treated very rudely. I personally went downstairs and requested to speak with the manager. I was told he was busy, but they would have him call me. I called several times to speak with the manager, but to no avail. I had planned to stay five day while my wife was having our baby. If I actually had to stay the overnight I would have changed hotels. We only had time to come back to the hotel once and tried to eat in the bar. It was a old nasty run down bar with drunk rude loud mouth cussing fools at the bar. One person was so drunk he kept falling off the bar stool. Unfortunately we were very tired, so I had no other place to take my young impressionable daughter to eat. I attempted to order a Top Shelf rum and coke and the bartender/waitresses gave me diet coke and some cheap rum. It was the worst drink I've ever had. The food, if you could call it that, was the most disgusting garbage I've ever had. Even my daughter didn't eat it. The bartender/waitresses even charged us full price even though I complained. She even had the nerve to charge me for the fake (Top Shelf) drink that I only sipped once. The hospital food was a whole lot better! When I first made reservations I was told that I had to change rooms after a few days, and even though the room was no different I had to pay a much higher price for the last couple days. While still at the hospital I called and asked if I could still keep the same room, due to the fact that my wife was in labor and I couldn't get back to change rooms. This time I was told that I could stay in the same room and I wouldn't be charged any extra fee. I even reiterated the conversation and the man at the hotel repeated that I wouldn't be charged any extra fee for the room. When we came back to check out I found out I was still charged the extra exorbitant fee for the last two days. I later sent a complaint to the hotel and received a ridiculous email from some manager stating he was sorry and he hoped I'd stay there again. No mention or credit for the worthless food and drink, or the extra charge for staying in the same room. No one should have to experience this type of hotel service. You'll obviously be happy anywhere else!!!

    « No respect »

I stayed one night at this hotel and I left the next day feeling as if many of the staff could use a refresher course in how to deal with the customer. As a woman traveling solo noticed that the latch lock was broken on my door I went and voiced my concern to the young lady at the front desk but Her attitude was dismissive and she told me it was " supposed to be that way" and when I called a second time to tell her I was sure it was broken she told me she would call me back I'm still waiting for her call...To make matters worse when I complained to the manager the next day he told me he would get back to me at my email as you can guess that never happened. The nicest and most courteous staff members I met were the shuttle drivers. In conclusion, there are plenty of options when traveling out of Newark you can definitely do better than this cheap-o place. Oh, and I almost forgot the maid just busted in my room without knocking and it as hardly near checkout time! Ridiculous!!

    « Just ok »

Check in was easy but as a diamond member it is nice to be acknowledged as one. That didn't happen. A recognition gift is also suppose to be given at check in. That didn't happen. A free upgrade was given but I had to ask for it, it wasn't offered. Bartender was nice and attentive. Food was ok. Calamari was fried right out of a box no doubt. Burger was good. Our room was an upgraded deluxe King that had a funky smell and was dark. Room was a nice size with a smallish bathroom. Parked our car for 4 days for $8 a day while we were on vacation. Shuttle drivers were fast, efficient, and timely.

« Bath tub with bubbles in the room »

Spent some nice days in this hotel located at the airport. Had made an incorrect order advance of our stay, but the hotel staff fixed this upon arrival. The staff was very helpful at all time. Thanks to the hotel shuttle service, it was no problem getting to the train station or get picked-up. Good beds, fitness center, and shuttle service.

« Clean room, excellent staff! »

We stayed over as the park/sleep/fly promotion. We had a 6 am flight and this was a much more convenient and affordable way to travel. The room was updated and clean. The staff was helpful and attentive to details. My car was protected and the fee was super affordable.

« Great place to stay for NYC or cruise launch. »

I echo what others have said. Great how to get to places advice, great staff for the most part, clean, good breakfast buffet, good park and cruise package. Decor is a bit dated, but rooms are clean, bathrooms were very clean. The ac is loud. Don't get a room if you can help it near the elevator.

    « Before Cruise Stay »

This is a GREAT place to stay if you are flying into and out of Newark airport. They picked us on arrival and arranged transportation to and from the cruise port. The front desk staff and the manager could not have been more helpful. We came in a day early for our cruise and went to 911 memorial and museum. They gave us instructions on how to get their and then took us and others to the Newark Penn Station to catch the PATH into NY. ALL the shuttles were no charge to the Airport and Penn Station, but there is a very reasonable fee to go to and from the Cruise port. The shuttles run on a very frequent schedule. I noticed most people did not TIP the shuttle drivers, REALLY !!! Come on people give them a buck or two for each person in your party or maybe you would rather pay for a Taxi !! Thank you very much to ALL staff at the BEST WESTERN Plus Newark Airport West, you made the start and ending of our trip seamless.

« very nice place to stay near airport »

was flying out of Newark and stayed at the best western the night before. this is a nice hotel near the airport and offers a very nice continental breakfast. had dinner at the restaurant that night and service and food was good. the hotel offers courtesy vans for guest convenience and they were very nice and cooperative. I would recommend this hotel if staying near airport.

    3
    « Quick Stay »

If you are looking for no thrills, just a comfy bed and then is it. You do hear the train, the walls are paper thin and you smell cigarette smoke from the vent in the bathroom. Just keep the vent on all night and you won't smell it. It is very close and convenient to the airport. That is it's plus.

« Better than we thought! »

We booked this hotel for the night before our cruise and also as a place to leave our vehicle for the 12 nights we would be gone. Stephanie, who made the reservation, took extra care in answering all the questions we had about hotel, their shuttle service, where our vehicle would be stored, etc. Upon arriving, yes, it is in an out of the way area and did look a little intimidating, but when entering the lobby and greeted by their friendly staff, we knew we chose the right place. They gave us a beautiful room for the night and in the morning had a delicious buffet breakfast that was included. We then left our vehicle key with the front desk and we're shuttled to the cruise pier. After the cruise, they were there to bring us back to hotel and pick up our vehicle. I was a little leary of leaving my keys at the beginning of our trip, but in the end there was nothing to worry about, everything was fine.

« Impromptu Flight Cancellation Stay »

TL;DR Good price, nice rooms, okay bar/restaurant. Would stay again. Booked a room due to a flight cancellation. Do not let the neighborhood fool you, it doesn't look impressive driving up, but the interior delivers. Room was very nice and the on site bar/restaurant had decent food at reasonable prices. The rooms are similar to an Aloft in style. Bathroom had actually stone counter tops and floor. Looks amazing and is definitely a noticeable nicety. Everything was very clean and maintained. The bar/restaurant was decent. It could have been better in a few areas, but first and foremost you won't regret going. Wait staff was very attentive so the experience was excellent. The food was okay. Ordered chicken marsala that was served in a brown gravy versus a white wine sauce. Actually a bit of a shame as the chicken tasted good and the sauce detracted overall from the dish. It also came with french fries as a side. An odd choice, but the french fries are very good and I'm sure easier to prep. Drink prices were reasonable ($6 for a glass of wine with a pour I'd do at home). Ultimately location would be your deciding factor. May not be the best for going into the city, but there is a shuttle to Newark Airport and then a train in so plan accordingly. If you're stranded overnight from a canceled flight, save a few dollars and stay in for a drink and a meal. You'll spend total what a room costs at the Marriott.

Free airport shuttle and very close for quick transfer. Nice breakfast and reasonable room in industrial neighborhood Shuttle can be arranged to local outlet mall. Choose this one for the for the convenience

« Good value airport hotel »

Very helpful staff in a conveniently located airport hotel with good amenities for a stay when travelling. Very good value for money. Reception staff can check you in, and can make associated baggage bookings, for onward flights - very welcome service. Free shuttle from and to the airport was friendly and efficient.

    « No rooms available »

We showed up late on a Saturday for our prepaid room. We were told by the desk clerk that no rooms were available. He then started calling area hotels but did not find one that we thought was suitable. He kept telling us that,"stuff happens." We found rooms at another hotel on our own that was nice but more expensive. The general manager sent a note to us apologizing for not exceeding our expectations and telling us that he authorized refunding the money that we paid to his hotel.

    « A real 'Hidden Gem'! »

Bit of a challenge to find this place and navigate to it, but once you're there, it's fantastic. Great staff. Clean, new, open rooms. Rather quiet, despite being very close to the airport. Very reasonably priced rooms. Flexible friendly shuttles. My go-to hotel whenever flying into the NYC area.

    « Great Stay Experience »

Found real value at this hotel. Helpful, friendly staff, excellent accommodations, clean and comfortable place! Really appreciated their shuttle that took us everywhere we needed to go ~ no need for a rental car even! Excellent experience and will definitely go there again.

« Nice photos in the adverts, not so great on the inside »

I used this as s stop for a layover between flights. Best bits about the hotel: 1. Near the airport 2. Value for money 3. Bed was great, and TV 4. Inclusive breakfast was good Not so good: 1. Carpets in hallways very dirty, like someone only hoovered the centre of the walkways 2. Oppressively dark, not sexy dark, but horror movie dark 3. Bathroom tired and worn and re-grouted within an inch of it's life

    5
    « GREAT STAFF »

We were in town to catch a Devils game, and was pleased to find out we were given a free upgrade for being Platinum Members. The staff here are absolutely wonderful - from Front Desk, to Housekeeping, to the gentlemen outside who gladly moved cars so we would have a spot to park - this place is about SERVICE. Nice large rooms, and a great breakfast to get you off & running in the morning. Even have a restaurant on site. Right next to the airport and highways, but not noisy. Great place to stay !

    « Park and Stay »

When we fly out of Newark,we always use this motel for a 1 night sleep over and to be able to park the car there on there lot for up to 10 days(i think it's 10,it could be 7,check the website)...our only problem we have is finding it when in that congested area....we always seem to miss the turnoff...they finally started having a continental breakfast a little bit earlier then 5,since a lot of people do leave before 5..

    « Stopover »

I spent one night at hotel en route from London to Binghamton NY. After I landed at Newark airport, the free shuttle bus was at the exit. It whipped me over to the hotel in no time. The hotel is large, clean with courteous staff. It looks a bit dated on the outside and could benefit from a little facelift. The bar/ restaurant is on the ground floor and serves basic food e.g. hamburgers & chips, sandwiches & chips, wraps & chips. To be fair, there are a small section of other foods e.g. grilled pork chop etc. Breakfast in the morning was adequate with cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, waffles, pancakes, scones, toast and omelettes. The restaurant area needs urgent upgrading with its bare tables and plastic garden chairs to be a bit more welcoming. It just felt like your average high street greasy spoon. My room was a surprise. I asked for a single but had a huge room with a massive double bed, a lounge area with sofa, flat screen HD TV, fridge, microwave and safe. There was a unusually large bathroom with shower, bath, toiletries etc. Everything was very clean. As a bit of a claustrophobic I did not like the fact that no window could be opened at all!! Air-conditioning does not replace outside air for me. I recommend this hotel for the casual traveller as the price is very reasonable for the outskirts of New York.

Young adults who were attending a nearby concert and then spent one night. Staff was friendly and they felt safe the entire time. Restaurant inside of hotel allowed them to eat without leaving premises. also great breakfast FREE in the mornings.

« Fly in, Fly out »

I stayed here recently twice because of overnight connections at EWR airport. The hotel has a 24-hour shuttle. It picks up at P4 in the airport and you call 21 on the courtesy phone. To get picked up, you wait about 15 min. To get dropped off at the airport you sign up for a shuttle time. Do this when you check in. Shuttles leave the hotel every 30 min. The breakfast is the same every morning, but it is free and hot. Waffles, egg, and sausage plus bagels, cereals, etc. juice and coffee. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Ask for a top floor room. They are newer than the bottom floor ones in terms of decor.

« First & last time we stay here............. »

We did a park n fly stay at this hotel prior to our Royal Caribbean Cruise out of San Juan. The location to the airport was within a half mile, but that was the only thing great about it. The room in general was just ok, not great. We were not happy with the hotel policy for the park n fly customers, that you need to leave your car keys with the front desk and then they jam your car in the rear lot because parking is limited and then it seems like it takes forever for them to get your car when you want to return home. We will not stay here again.

    3
    « Terrible Parking »

Absolutely no room for parking at this location. The hotel Parking area very small and not enough spaces for all of the guests. I had to park down the street and was afraid of being towed during the night.

« A good value near the Newark airport »

The staff was polite, the room better than I expected, and a free airport shuttle runs 24/7. We took the 4 AM shuttle and were pleased to have free coffee and muffins available at that hour. I would stay at this hotel again for its value price.

« 1 night travelers, left car for 10+ days »

All in all we were very satisfied with our booking and stay. We booked through the Tripadvisor website and booked for the rate of $109 a night, knowing the details stated we could leave our car securely for up to 10 days there which was what we were looking for specifically. Upon check in we got the tell tale excuse "that's not the park and fly rate, the park and fly rate is $159 a night" yadda yadda, so what else could we do? We paid it. Ate in the restaurant that night it was great food and service, only issue was they failed to tell us they weren't going to process the credit card we gave them and signed for for our meal, but rather charged the card that was on file for our room which caused some banking issues. Other than that, we were pleased, it was clean, quiet, comfortable. The shuttle took us to the airport and picked us up! We were away during the Blizzard of 2016 so when we returned we thought for sure our car would be covered in snow and it looked to have been in a covered garage the whole time we were away! Bonus! A little more info explaining things such as the park and fly would be helpful on the tripadvisor web listing and the Best Western web listing.

    « Park and Fly »

This is the second time we have used the Best Western Newark Airport Hotel for purposes of one night stay, shuttle to and from airport and park the car for the entire trip. We traveled during the snow storm of 2016 where we got 20 plus inches. When we returned the shuttle was readily available and the car was cleaned off and off went to go home via the Turnpike which was totally cleared for our drive. We all know when we are ready to come home from a trip we do not want any barriers and just want a smooth trip home and get home as quickly as possible. The hotel made that good for me.

    « Great job! »

Flew in a day before the NY blizzard of 2016 to catch a cruise. Once we arrived discovered the cruise would be delayed by a day. Safe was able to accommodate us for the extra day. Despite the blizzard they all did a great job! Would stay with them again.

    « Blizzard 2016 »

We booked this hotel for our trip to the city for a couple days. They were great upon check in and our room was perfect. We had dinner at the hotel and our waiter Carlos was fantastic and the food was pretty good for a hotel restaurant. We unfortunately were there during the blizzard, so Saturday we were stuck at the hotel all day...but the staff worked non-stop to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I'm almost positive the front desk staff worked around the clock to keep clients happy. We ate in the restaurant that night too, and waitress that was able to make it in was brand new and did fantastic. She kept up with a packed restaurant and never lost her smile. We will definitely stay here again...just maybe not during a blizzard.

    « Not a great choice »

As a rule i have found Best Western Hotels to be fine but I was unimpressed with this property. First, i waited for almost an hour at the airport pick up point because i was not informed by the hotel that it was necessary to call them for a pick up. That would be an easy fix, just to mention it on the website! The front check in desk is so high that it was difficult to see the clerks behind the desk. I found that rather bizarre and not helpful for customers or staff! Perhaps the architect was a giant? My room was large but everything, including the bathroom, looked a little past its prime. The sheets looked a little rumpled and I preferred to think they simply had not been ironed. One of the bathroom towels had a black smudge and a small hole. There is no room service and the restaurant is small and dark with a very limited menu. Service was alright but there were four middle-aged drunks sitting at the bar who seemed to consider themselves hilarious and talked and laughed very loudly, making dinner unpleasant for the few solitary diners. It would have been appropriate for the manager to ask them to be a little quieter and when i mentioned it to the waiter he simply shrugged. Although I asked for an early wake up call, it did not come. All in all, I would not recommend this hotel. They seem to have stopped trying.

    « FILTHY DUMP - STAY AWAY !! »

We had a king suite booked at a discounted price and guess what - when we arrived it was not available !! Of course not, they got a group of 4 people that wanted it and wiling to pay full price so of course they would not turn them away !! The 2 queen bed room we did get was absolutely filthy !! There was pop or coffee down the wall behind the trash can, filth around all the walls at the the floor no matter if it was carpet or tile and the chrome fistures such as the toilet paper rolls and the bottle opener in the bathroom had never been wiped. I thought it was a petina on them from cleaners or age or air that had dulled all the chrome but I wiped a quarter size area on the toilet paper holder and they did shine ! OMG ?!?!? How disgusting !! One one of the beds had the mattress hanginig 8 - 10 inches off of the box spring on one side so obviously the box spring showing on the other - so obviously the sheets had not been changed on that bed or they would have seen it - another OMG !! The other bed had a metal bed frame turned sideways and the ends were sticking out the side of the bed 5 inches where I sat at the edge of the bed so when I say there I gouged my leg on it - great way to start a sunshine vacation - huge cut and bigger bruise on my shin and the other end of this sideways bed frame was sticking out a good 8 inches - now how or why is there a metal bed frame sideways and crooked ?!? Of course we got to be by the elevator to top all this off and absolutely no noise barrier stripping (like weather stripping but on interior doors of hotels) around the doors and a good 3/4 inch gap at the bottom of the door so we got to hear everyone and there conversations nevermind the house phone by the elevator that started ringing first thing in the morning. I could go on and on but I don't have time to write a novel at this time. Yes they were the best price around for our 2 night stay before our cruise, and no I do not just look for the cheapest joint around, we frequently stay in hotels and if there is a Best Western we stay at it, we have probably stayed in close to a couple of dozen Best Westerns, and have never had such a horrific stay with this well know brand, I cannot believe that Best Western would have their name on this filthy hazardous place !! Trust me, as much as you trust Best Western and want your points, forgo this dump and stay somewhere else. Another tidbit, his is by the airport at the port so there is nowhere to walk to to eat, shop or sight see. Beware - don't say you were not warned if you do still stay there, it is really that bad !!

    3
    « Close to Airport »

This was our second stay here. It is convenient to the airport and offers "park and stay". The room, of course, costs more when you leave your car while you are away. And your car is at their mercy... ours came home with a ding from them parking too close and a careless attendant. Our first stay was in June and the rate was not too bad ($159.99, I think, plus a lot of taxes.) However, for this second stay, which started the Saturday after Thanksgiving, the price was raised to $209.99 (total with tax = $242.54)! Quite a jump in price for a holiday weekend... unless the regular price increased that much. We also had extremely loud neighbors... hard to put up with when you have an early flight. Lastly... the return shuttle took a really long time to pick us up, especially considering the hotel is only a few minutes away. For our next flight out of EWR, we just might try a different hotel. We will have to wait and see...

Unexpected and unrequested upgrade to a very well-appointed room with jacuzzi and 2 comfortable king-sized beds. Four large bath towels (unusual). Clean. Very reasonable price. Courteous front desk. Proximity to Newark airport. Remote didn't work and it was too late in the day to get if fixed before checkout but otherwise no snags.

« Good Value for Outside of NYC »

This hotel is newly renovated and very close to the airport. They offer a free shuttle to the airport and to the train station. You can pay to keep your car there for an extra night or two if you aren't staying in the hotel that night. The staff is very friendly. Breakfast was a standard continental breakfast, not amazing but it was fine. A few complaints: the walls are very thin, they didn't replace the tissues and there was hardly any toilet paper in the room, and at 7:30 AM an alarm (not sure if it was a fire alarm) started going off but it stopped a few minutes later.

« Good location between flights »

The hotel is not in the ideal ovation but for in and out it was OK. The cafe needs help, it is dark with a fairly limited menu and poor service. The front desk staff could be more pleasant but the room was clean, It had WiFi.

« Third visit and still impressed »

This is the third time we have booked this hotel thru park stay and fly. Accommodation was good, some minor room problems attended to within a reasonable time. The restaurant dinner was filling for our party of seven. There was another large party also there and both were served well. The trip to the cruise port was easily arranged and on time. We received taxi vouchers for the return trip after the cruise. We walked off the ship, over to the taxi stand and the dispatcher immediately arranged a van for our group. On return, our cars were promptly retrieved, and we were offered a complementary coffee. The staff were all very helpful and professional. We will use the Best WESTERN AGAIN.

« BEST WESTERN PLUS NEWARK AIRPORT WEST »

I have been staying at this hotel several nights a month for the past five years. The rooms are clean and the staff is professional. It is also nice to have a lounge/restaurant on site so I don't need to order delivered food. When the shuttle picks you up from Newark Airport, you arrive back at the hotel in five minutes. There is also easy access with their shuttle combined with a short train ride to New York City. I recommend this hotel highly.

« Completely insensitive to family crisis »

I have never written a review before in my life. A child/family member ended up in a hospital last minute well before the reservation. the management could not care less about the plea for a refund. Right before Xmas. "Strict policy" -these are the worst kind of companies who really could care less about their customers and building good customer service. Avoid this hotel and this management.

    « Great Hotel! »

Stayed here twice, the place was so awesome! Very clean hotel and friendly staff! We ate at the restaurant and was surprised at how good the food was. Only takeaway would be to vamp up the lackluster breakfast offering.. Other than that, would stay again!

« Fine for one night »

This hotel has a few spacious rooms with whirlpool tubs and the bed was comfortable. We could hear noise from the airport, which I suppose is to be expected but we could also hear noise from other guests at the hotel. Overall it was OK for a one night stay.

    « Decent, Disappointing »

I ended up at this hotel thanks to Priceline and was initially pleased when I walked into my room. It was quite spacious and had 3 windows. While the view wasn't great, I liked being able to get some natural light. Unfortunately that natural light showcase some very dirty carpet, pillowcases that may have been part of a mob hit, and a bed that had more sagging to it than Hillary Clinton without her Spanxx. The fitness room is a joke. Period. 4 devices packed into a room so small that you can't walk between them. A tv w no remote. Come on, BW, at least try a little bit. On the plus side, the parking was free and breakfast was decent. Overall, a B- or C+

« Not The Best, But It's Satisfactory »

I only stayed here for a brief, very brief moment at the hotel. It isn't the best hotel I've stayed in, but it isn't bad either. It's clean for the most part, though the floor space underneath the sink was dirty. It looks like it had not been swept as there was a travel toothbrush and some clothing tags. Also the tissue box didn't look very clean. The rest of the bathroom was clean though as well as the room. The lighting is a little dull in the room, but it's ok. I don't like the carpet, but that's just personal preference, and I'm not into the beige doors, just a little blah to me. But staff was kind, check-in was incredibly easy, there's a free airport shuttle (and the airport is like 10 minutes away), there's satellite TV, which was a major treat to me, and the bed is comfy and clean. The site around the hotel isn't ideal. It's just parking lots, containers, buildings, and the airport. Nothing special about the view. But it's close enough to the airport and does the job for an overnight. One note though, at night at 11 PM, and this might not be the hotel's fault, but there was someone shouting in the halls. I was half asleep and was startled by it. I saw they had employees around cleaning rooms into the night and I like to think that it was guest behaving poorly by yelling in the halls at night and hopefully not staff. Lastly, if you're not having the continental breakfast at 7 then there's none, just coffee, tea, and grease muffins before then.

« A very good hotel at a great Price »

I have stayed here before. The room was very nice and very quiet. My wife booked it and the price was much lower than nearby properties. It is next to Newark Airport and very convenient. They shuttled me back and forth to the airport to get and return rental car. People were very nice. Free Breakfast was very good with a number if different entrees. My only complaint is the quality of the fitness center. Not so bad that it stopped me from rebooking again. Our room was very large with 2 queen beds and a sofa as well as 2 sinks.

    « Flight layover »

We recently stayed at this airport during an overnight flight layover. We picked this airport for its location by the airport and more importantly, the airport shuttle. We arrived at 10:30 pm at the airport. We called for a shuttle and was told we had to be at the P4 location off the air train, then we could call back for a shuttle. So we made our way over to the shuttle stop, 5 minutes later and called again for a shuttle. We ended up having to call 3 more times for a shuttle. While we were waiting in the rain, the other hotel shuttles passed by several times. We finally got to the hotel after midnight. The hotel has only one shuttle and it is in no hurry to pick up. The next morning we had a 7:00 am international flight. We tried to take the 5:00 am shuttle but we were told that it was full (it wasn't at that time but apparently was waiting for late arrivals.) They told us to wait for the 5:30 shuttle, but since it was already running late, we decided it was better to take a taxi. So if you are counting on the use of the shuttle, I do not recommend this hotel.

    « Great! »

Big, spacious rooms, gracious staff, shuttle service and great facilities. Breakfast was of vast options, express breakfast offered for whomever is leaving early, close to the airport. ATM on site, nice gym. The hotel is located in a great place, although near the airport still very quite.

the second saty at this hotel was not quite as enjoyable as the first. I'll use this hotel again. it's okay for the price. Marcy the front desk assistant is great. The staff is friendly. They offer shuttle to some awsome places.

    « Conflicted... - Detailed Park & Cruise experience »

My husband and I were going on a 5-day cruise out of Port Liberty. We kept debating on the best way to get there (coming from Long Island) and eventually decided on driving there early Saturday (day of departure) and parking at the pier ($20 a day). But with Hurricane Joaquin threatening to hit us hard, we didn't want to leave our car right next to the port and be worried about flooding all week. So, last minute, we found Best Western and their park and cruise (or Stay & Cruise?) package. It wasn't listed on their website so I had to call about it. I booked a king room over the phone for that night with the cruise parking package. We arrived to the hotel late that night because we'd gotten an email saying that our cruise itinerary had changed from Bermuda to Canada due to the hurricane, so we had to repack. We were already pretty frustrated because of that and when we checked in and got up to our room we found a two queen bed room instead of the king room we booked. We called down to the front desk and they said they were sold out and couldn't do anything about it. That was very frustrating, especially on top of the other disappointment of our vacation plans changing. In the morning, the manager gave us a 10% discount but I can't say it was enough to make us want to stay here again. Which is too bad because the bed was very comfortable, the room was huge (biggest airport hotel room I've ever been in) and everything was clean and up to date. Free breakfast was good as well. And the Park & Cruise is a GREAT value. We paid $180 for the package, after taxes and before the manager's discount. We would have paid $100 in parking at the pier, so basically for $80 we got a leisurely overnight stay (even if it was in the wrong room), no stress getting to the port the next day and a shuttle that got us to the cruise and picked up. That package includes parking up 10 days. The rate didn't change based on the length of the parking, so we didn't pay less since it was only five days. So it's a great value that way, especially if you're taking a longer cruise. The shuttle was worth it as well. Make sure you book a departure time with the front desk when you arrive! Overnight staff told us that wasn't necessary but I called the front desk again in the morning and they said you needed a reservation. We got there quickly leaving from the hotel but the return trip back took about 45 minutes. They give you a voucher for the return ride with a third-party company, so not everyone was going back to the hotel and, in a packed bus, we were the last stop. Didn't bother us but could be annoying to some. It just pains us that they screwed up our room and makes it unlikely we'd stay here again.

    « A night of surprises »

In previous visits to the Newark Airport the van from this hotel was the one that appeared to come most frequently to the airport, so I decided to take this hotel even though some of the reviews were not very good. This time I had to wait quite a while and then realized that I was not sure about the name of the hotel since the screen of my mobile phone had shattered the night before. First surprise. I called the hotel from one of the old fashioned phones at the airport. I asked if this was the hotel one mile away and they said yes (I knew that's where I reserved). However, they said they did not have my reservation. I had to call back and insisted and then they said my reservation had been cancelled by the reservation agency that I used, because my credit card would not go through. Second surprise. They indicated that they still had rooms and came to pick me up. The hotel is just outside of the parking lots of Newark airport. The van driver took me through somewhat dark alleys and then through a parking lot to get there. However, when I got to the hotel they solved the issue quickly, and provided me with a very clean room. The air conditioning system in my room was one of the most quiet that I have found at a hotel, even at hotels much higher priced. The internet service was the fastest that I found at a hotel, at least three times faster than at home. Third and fourth surprises. The hotel room was very quiet and I slept very well, even though I was next to the elevator. The free breakfast during the next morning was fine, and no problems. This hotel is a very good deal, and I will return in the future.

    « Just 1 night »

The offer a Van to / from airport and Penn Station Newark ( a few minutes from Penn Station Manhattan ) . The van took more than 1/2 hour to come and after went trough some small streets and some bad places ( at least they looked bad at night for me ) , but it is worth it for a late arrival em NYC via Newark . Good price , good bed and reasonable breakfast . There are Vans every 1/2 an hour to Penn Station , So it is safe , clean and easy . I recommend for people that wants to save money without sleeping inside the arport (lol ) .

    « October Pre-cruise New York visit »

We, and a few friends, wanted to visit New York before leaving on a New England, Canada cruise that left from Cape Liberty. We chose this hotel because it offered great value and service. The hotel fees included shuttle service from/to the airport and train station to New York. Also it included breakfast. The room was quiet, clean and had many amenities and the staff was great. We would recommended it to anyone.

« Great find! Free shuttle to Penn Station »

My wife and I enjoyed the large room with jacuzzi and comfortable beds. Free parking of our car and we took the free shuttle to Newark and NYC daily 7-11 in morning and pickups at Penn Station at 7-11 at night. $2.75 and you are downtown NYC! Hotel has adequate breakfast and after hours lounge you can get a sandwich with variety of beverages. We stayed here for a week and very happy with hotel and staff who were accommodating. Not much around but easy to find on Gps.

« mediocre with poor front desk service »

we stayed one night prior to a cruise vacation because the hotel was one of the cheaper in the area and it was close to the port. the front desk staff were rude. the lounge is very small and gets packed with people in the morning for breakfast. breakfast quality is not great.

« Good value for money »

Stayed at this property on a night's stopover en route to St Louis. There is nothing fancy about the property but there are quite a few plus-es which make this hotel stand out among the ones in a budget scope in and around the airport area. Ample breakfast, free airport shuttle, free wifi, quiet sleep, a good restaurant -- Don't think you need much more for a night's stay on your transit. Overall I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone having a short duration stay in and around the Newark airport area.

Hey everyone, Stayed at thus hotel for arround 2 nights along wid my family..was amazed and touched with the Hospitality I and my family was offered. .specially the General Manager MJ And Mr Moirs the receptionist. « Better of the Bunch »

I've stayed at several hotels in the Newark Airport area and this property is the better of the bunch (vs. Wyndham Garden and Country Inn). Room was clean and not dated, front desk staff helpful and friendly, breakfast area set up well (basic items hot & cold), restaurant on site with a bar. Parking and access are the negative points. Limited parking with a single in/out drive and the place is a bit hard to get too without knowing the area (or have a GPS unit).

« Free shuttle from/to Newark Airport, Free wifi, good tv, restaurant. »

We had to overnight at Newark Airport and this was very convenient with their free shuttle. Staff was helpful, because my reservation had somehow been cancelled and I think we got the last room. Free USA Today paper in the morning and free continental breakfast even at 4:30 am. We slept well and were on our way in time for our 7am flight.

If your stay at this hotel is for business or pleasure and you need a shuttle driver make sure you ask for Jose He is the BEST and made our trip pleasurable He will stay late to get you where you need to go and always with a smile Hotel was ok but bar/restaurant ran out of food way before closing time

« Only good for overnight stay between flights »

Why do I say this? We waited 1 hours to the airport, after four phone calls being told the driver was on his way. It's ten minutes away max from hotel. Another day We'd had to take a city bus to the airport because the hotel shuttle wouldn't pick up at Penn Station mid day. So we had a horrible bus ride thru the slums of Newark to get picked up by the shuttle at the airport. The am kitchen person didn't speak English so there was never creamers and sugar or a way to communicate with her. One day the entire 6th floor and part of the 5th floor was burglarized by armed thugs who allegedly broke into the maids storage to steal a pass key during the day. Yes they caught them but how did a pass key come to be left in a vulnerable spot!? Newark is as horrible now as it was when I lived in New Jersey decades ago. The hotel is located in a very unpleasant area with a long vacant bldg next door.

    « Convenient stopover »

This was an easy stopover from a long few flights. The courtesy coach from the airport was good, and they took us back in the morning which was a bonus. Rooms were average but reflected the price, free upgrade gave a bit more space. Free breakfast and wifi good, and a gym.

« Decent place to stay »

My mom and I stayed here before a recent trip. The hotel was off the beaten path (without a GPS, I wouldn't have found it.) The parking lot was very tight, but we found a space near the front. We were meeting my mom there after her flight in to Newark, so we brought pizza. Unfortunately, there was no where to eat it except for our room. We had been hoping that their breakfast room could be used for that, but during the rest of the day, it's a real restaurant, so obviously it was unavailable. They did have one little nook with a table, but it was being used by other people watching a football game. My family and I took our pizza and my bags upstairs and down a long, not very well lit hallway, and found mom already checked into the room. The room was very clean, and nice and large. But it was one of the weirdest rooms I had ever seen. It was a long, narrow rectangular room, with the beds and desk on the left, the sofa and coffee table directly across from the door, the bathroom to the right, and a bathtub set into the corner. Yes, the bathtub was in the room, rather than in the bathroom. Even weirder than that, it was tucked into a corner, with the narrow side accessible via a step up. The room had two queen beds. My teenager commented on how weird it would be to bathe in a room with two beds. If you weren't intimate enough with your roommate to be sharing a bed, why on Earth would you be bathing in front of him? Anyway, we used the ironing board to set up our buffet, and sat on the assorted furniture to share our meal. I get that it's a room for 2 to 4 people, so it wasn't really comfortable for 6 of us to share a meal and be near each other. I would still give the hotel 4 stars because the customer service was excellent, the room was clean and quiet, and the beds were comfortable. I'm taking a star away because the lighting in the room was really poor, and the tub was just bizarre. Another note to the adventurous plumbing, In the bathroom, there was another tub with a shower, and the drain was on the opposite side of the shower head. (Not taking a star away for that, I've just never seen that before, and I found it hysterical!) The morning breakfast was the standard hotel breakfast, great for free breakfast, but not something I'd pay for. The service at check out was top notch. We waited a few minutes for the shuttle van to the airport. Two vans came to get us and several others that were waiting. The drivers were friendly and competent, but basically wanted to get us all on-board with a minimum of conversation. We were quickly taken to the airport and dropped off with our luggage. The driver seemed surprised that we tipped him. I wonder if a lot of passengers skip that part. This is a wonderful hotel to stay at if you just need a base to tour from, or if you are heading to the airport in the morning. I would stay here again.

    « Great find »

I don't understand why this hotel has any bad ratings. I have stayed in worse many times! The quality of rooms in this hotel is good, the rooms are large and comfortable. The service has been great in both reception and the bar. Nice breakfast. Free coffee from the bar 24 x 7, free shuttle buses on request to the airport and at set hourly times to Newark Penn station. We booked a 48h hop on hop off for NYC which included free pick up and return from Times Square where the Gray line office is based. Great value and great service.

    « Just A Stone's Throw Away From NYC. »

Newark Airport Bestwestern Hotel is a great alternative if you can't stay in the city and you have to do business there. Hotel staff is great, rooms are very clean and affordable. The only complaint was the hotel breakfast was not up to par. The breakfast at most Bestwestern Hotels is usually great, this property was a little off with the choices of what they had to offer. I would still there again but I would expect better breakfast options. That being said the service during the breakfast was great.

« Well located, good staff and reasonable cost »

This hotel is well-located to Newark Airport with a complimentary shuttle to and from there. The check-in was speedy and the reception staff were all helpful, friendly and professional. The room was large and clean with good amenities and a comfortable bed. The breakfast was pretty basic with a limited selection available. Free wifi but a little unnecessarily frustrating to have to re-login every three hours. Despite it's location close to the airport noise was not a problem. However, it's location had one major drawback. Being right there in an industrial/roadways situation there was absolutely no close options for meals other than the on-site restaurant. Whilst the food and range were good, the experience we had was seriously poor. It was simply a bad comedy of errors with our fish and chips taking three hours to surface. Hopefully others will have a better time, and I would not hold our negative time against an otherwise good hotel.

Not what I expected did not like the area The Staff at reception very pleasant I must admit We arrived at tea time so being Hungry went to the restaurant we sat at a table but had to move as it was nearly facing toilet and stank we asked the girl behind the bar if it was ok and she just grunted at us then walked up to check table cracking her knuckles The young waiter was lovely and very friendly but his clothes were not clean The room was very spacious but could of been cleaner. We were suppose to stay for a few nights but one was enough

beautiful room, shuttle to and from port liberty, hot breakfast. we drove from down south, so it was convenient to stay here the night before the cruise. went into NYC for the evening. Marci at the front desk was awesome. checked with other hotels, shuttle was 35 per person to the port, and pay for long term parking. we paid 250 for the night (4 of us in one room), shuttle for 4 to and from and parking for 5 nights for two cars.

« Great stay for business trip »

I really enjoyed my stay here. Not exactly a great location in terms of walking to places (right off the highway), but I just had to stay overnight for work. The hotel restaurant is pretty typical - limited options - but the staff (especially Carlos! What a great employee you have there) were friendly, and there was really no where within walking distance, so the restaurant served its purpose. Though not within walking distance of anything, it's a nice option for those who don't want to stay right in NYC but can easily get to the city with shuttle services. Also nice and close to the airport (where I had to fly out the next day). The hotel served its purpose and I was happy with the service. Got a great rate off Priceline.

    « Handy and Efficient »

We had an early morning flight to catch from Newark International Airport. The hotel was a little out of the way and a tad difficult to find. Thank goodness for a GPS and a son-in-law and daughter who know how to use them. The hotel, while tucked away, was a touch like an oasis in the desert. It was perfect for our needs. The bar and restaurant were just the right size and ambience. Our barman should be on radio, his voice was as smooth as silk and his wine and beverages knowledge was up there with the best. The waitstaff friendly and good with suggestions as to choosing suitable menu items. We finally got to bed about 10pm very pleased we were staying there. Front desk organied an early morning call. Our shuttle to the airport was also hassle-free. I'd sure stay there again.

    « Comfortable beds »

We stayed at this Best Western the night before and the night after our cruise out of Port Liberty. The rate was very reasonable, and the rooms were clean and nice. The beds were very comfortable. The facility includes a small restaurant with a limited menu, and there are no other restaurants nearby. The did provide a nice complimentary breakfast in the morning. Not just a continental breakfast. Much more. They provided a free shuttle to and from the airport, but a reasonable fee was charged to get us to and from the Port. The drivers were friendly and very helpful. Our friends had a situation where the hotel and drivers were very helpful. Some insulin was left in the room fridge and it wasn't discovered until we were on the ship. When contacted, the hotel located the insulin, and transported it quickly to the port before we sailed. We were all greatly relieved. This is a nice hotel if you need or want to be near the port or the airport.

« Overnight at the airport »

We arrived at EWR late at night so stayed overnight at the Best Western Plus Newark Airport before heading out to our destination. The room was comfortable and reasonably clean. It was difficult to get to and the area around the hotel was in major disrepair. I would not use this hotel again.

« Satisfactory, but could do better. »

I suppose the $145 per night fee may be considered reasonable for this area, but it did not equate to what you get for your money. The hotel is local to Newark Airport which does have it's benefits if you are travelling, but little things such as the TV being static on the wall and would not rotate toward the bed were annoying. In addition, the scrambled egg at breakfast was of the synthetic variety and reminiscent of a small soggy make-up sponge with about as much flavor (anything to save a penny or two I suppose) and there was no alternative egg dish. The penny pinching also extended to the coffee on the room which tasted more like dish water than coffee and instant would have been a better alternative, although this is common with most corporate hotel chains these days. In general, it was Okay for the purpose I needed, but they could do so much better especially if they were not filling their rooms based on location alone.

    5
« Best Deal in the area, esp. for Park and Fly »

I've actually stayed here about 7 times, using their Park and Fly for usually around a month while traveling in Asia. The staff is always pleasant, especially the General Manager, MJ. The rooms are clean, updated, and comfortable, not 5 star, but you didn't come here for that. The prices these folks charge are amazing. For less than what most of the lots this close to the airport charge for parking alone, you can come here the night before, relax, have breakfast, and ride the shuttle 5 minutes to your plane. This IS the way to fly!
