    « Lovely Hotel »

We recently stayed at the beginning of November. The hotel is in a fab position 7 mins walk to Penn Station 10 mins to Times Square, great location for shopping and getting about. Hotel rooms were immaculate clean great shower and great wifi. Nice bar to the back of hotel with outside area great to relax with a few drinks after walking all day. Breakfast was good plenty to choose from. Would recommend and definitely stay again if back in New York.

    « 4 out of 5 »

The staff was excellent and helpful. The location was great. The coffee/tea bar in the lobby as well as the complimentary (although somewhat sparse/basic) breakfast buffet was nice. The big problem is that there is apparently no service elevator so give yourself extra time in the morning or take the stairs. 4 out of 5.

    « Perfect location »

Just returned from our 6 nights at this hotel.Everything was perfect from start to finish.Had a lovely room overlooking the Empire State Building.Room was modern and the bed was spacious and comfortable. All the hotel staff could not do enough, nothing was too much trouble and specially thank you to Bebe and Sade on reception for all their help and professionalism. Also breakfast was very good plenty to choose from.We would definitely recommend this hotel and we will be back one day.

« Great Location and Even Greater Staff »

My wife and I spent 4 days in NYC. We stayed at the Best Western Premier at Herald Square. Centrally located to all the NYC sites. The hotel room was EXTREMELY clean on our arrival. The staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, especially Bebe, the front desk supervisor. Always answered my questions with a quick answer and a smile. I HIGHLY recommend Best Western Premier in Herald Square for your NYC stay.

Fantastic location. Staff was courteous , noise factor was s problem. Water pressure was weak and washroom was a little tight. Need to address noise factor and water pressure. Also need to provide better options for breakfast. Lounge was great.

    « Fantastic central hotel »

Recently stayed here for a week, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Had a very clean, quiet and comfortable room on the 14th floor. Beds were very comfortable and room had great TV channels. The breakfast was fabulous - variety of hot dishes, cereals and pastries which varied every day. The coffee and water in the reception were very useful and available all day. The receptionists were so kind and always willing to help giving directions and advice. Happy hour in the evening was lovely in the outdoor patio. The bartender was great and always gave us bowls of nibbles when we were in the bar. Finally, the hotel was so centrally located within walking distance of most NYC attractions.

« Good value at a very convenient location »

I found the Best Western Premier Herald Square very conveniently located and quiet. I particularly liked the fact that it is not one of these huge hotel complexes with hundreds of rooms. That is also reflected in the good service the attentive staff provides around the clock. Rooms are tiny but cater for all the needs of the average city traveller (including free Wifi). Compared with the other hotels on the same block I found the BW a bit lower scale than average. Still: It offers good value for the buck at this location.

« Great location and a welcoming team! »

I have stayed at this location several times and it always feels like a "home away from home" oasis in the city. Stephen in the lounge is a true gentleman and equally friendly to locals/regulars and guests from out of town alike!

« My recent stay at the Best Western Premier in NYC »

This is a great hotel. It is conveniently located, well maintained, offers a complimentary breakfast, and overall a fantastic value. Jay and Bebe at the front desk are always welcoming and helpful. Erica in the breakfast area is also welcoming and very nice. I stay here whenever I travel to NYC for these reasons. Keep up the good work!

« No complaints! Great location and service. »

The hotel is in a great location in midtown. We had a room at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet for NYC. The lounge is nice and quiet and has great prices from 3-8. The free breakfast was better than most free breakfasts at other BW hotels. We had to check out at 4 am for our flight and they actually had a sack ready for us with water and snacks. Very thoughtful! The room was cleaned early as soon as we were out and about for the day.

    « Great location »

Hotel is very well located, near Herald square station, penn station. It is walking distance from time square, Empire state ande Grand Central. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. Staff is helpful. The only negative point is the breakfast room, which is too small.

    « A Great place to stay »

This hotel is great place to stay in New York city. It is a small but very warm and comfortable hotel with really helpful front of desk staff as well as all the other staff. The breakfast was good as was the free tea and coffee served all day in the reception. The room was very clean and tidy. It is a 5 minute walk from the Empire State building and a 10 minute walk to Time Square and 42nd street.

« Better than we ever imagined! »

We have recently returned from a 6 night holiday at the Best Western Premier Herald Square and the hotel was everything we hoped for and so much more. Arriving at 9.15pm after a long day of travelling from the UK we were quickly and easily checked in and made our way straight to our room on the 14th floor. After reading many reviews I had emailed the hotel ahead of arrival requesting a room on a high floor (the hotel has 17 floors) with a view of the Empire State building. We were not disappointed! The view was fantastic and didn't get old all week - seeing it first thing against a bright blue sky, at sunset, in pitch black and even in low cloud. A big thank you to the hotel for accommodating this request. The room matched up to the view and we were delighted. Expecting a small room from reading previous reviews our room was a great surprise. With two of us travelling (Mum and daughter) we booked a double room with two double beds. The beds were extremely comfortable, we found space for our cases, between the wardrobe and the large chest of drawers there was more than ample space for our clothes, the beds were extremely comfortable and the room definitely boasts the most sockets of any hotel I've ever stayed in. The bathroom was also a great size with a double width, powerful shower, many toiletries and vanity mirror. Our room had always been cleaned when we returned mid-late afternoon. The hotel has two lifts which we found to be quiet and speedy. Like with anything, at busier times could be a bit of a wait with the lift stopping at many floors but we're talking a couple of minutes if that! Breakfast was the biggest surprise. Having breakfast included in the room rate was one of the reasons that we chose this hotel. We had planned on grabbing something quick each morning before heading out for a more substantial breakfast/brunch but the high quality and huge variety of the breakfast on offer in the hotel meant we instead filled up every day on fresh bagels, breads, pastries, cooked options (which changed daily) including porridge, hash browns, bacon, sausage patties, pancakes and waffles. Cereals and fruit were also available. The juice was gorgeous - freshly squeezed and the coffee was amazing. Others have mentioned the small size of the breakfast room. We never had any problem getting a table straight away and visited breakfast at varying peak times from 7.30 - 8.30am. Sometimes there were queues but there's plenty of space in reception and in the lounge or you could even take your food to your room! Worth the wait if you have one anyway. Sticking with refreshments, we loved the iced water and coffee facilities in the reception area. We made great use of this during our stay, always filling up our bottles before heading out on a morning or grabbing a coffee for a mid-afternoon re-charge. The coffee was the same great quality as in the breakfast room and this was a lovely touch! The location of the hotel is absolutely perfect. Sandwiched between 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas) and 5th Avenue you're never more than a few minutes' walk from bars, cafes or restaurants (there's a Starbucks and a McDonalds just around the corner). On West 36th Street itself, across the road, there's a great Irish Bar if you get torrential rain like we did and just want to make a run for it - tasty food and drinks, huge portions, reasonable prices and a great atmosphere. Just a 5 minute walk from 34th Street Herald Square Subway station serving most of the major lines and Penn Station not much further along the street, this hotel is amazingly located for exploring the whole of Manhattan and beyond! We did a lot of walking to explore the city on foot: Times Square is approximately 20 minutes away and just a little further is the Rockefeller Centre. You're just 5 minutes away from the entrance to the Empire State Building, Macy's and Monarch Rooftop Bar on top of the Marriott (recommended for cocktails and amazing views of the Empire State!) . And if you head up 5th Avenue towards Central Park in no time you'll take in the library as well as Grand Central Station. It was our first time in New York and the location of this hotel just made everything so easy. Being on a slightly quieter street was great too - not being immediately thrust into the bustle but still with everything on your doorstep! This hotel is fantastic and made our holiday in New York a dream. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone - especially first time visitors like us. It's so much more than just the comfortable base in a great location we were looking for and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

« home away from home »

Starting from the warm and friendly reception of the front desk, the wait staff at breakfast & housekeeping one gets the feeling of being at a family gathering. Its so thoughtful to have not only coffee and tea in the lobby but also icecold water and free use of a laptop! I've stayed at bigger and more expensive hotels and there are less expensive hotels within the area but none that matches the cozy feeling at this one! Thank you

« Awesome place to stay »

One of the best value for the money which you spend ... it is totally overwhelming and the crew which this particular place hires are a truly professionals from a concrete hotel management background ... front office executives are true assets to the hotel as they have provided great experience with their customer management skills.

    « Great room,location and staff »

« Location, location, location and a great hotel for as 5 day exploration of NYC »

A perfect location for exploring Manhattan by foot, our preferred mode of transport, and close to subway when necessary. Walking distance to all that mattered. Great sitting area out front for watching the world go by, excellent breakfast, nice really well laid out and comfortable room, great staff. The perfect hotel for our 5 day exploration of the city. Will stay again when next we return.

« Nice location but not friendly »

The hotel is modern and in a good location of Manhattan with easy access to subway and shopping. The room was clean and okay in space with free breakfast of great standard for USA but the staff is not friendly at all, working mostly with out name tags we feel not welcome for any question.

Hotel near delis, bars, Empire State Building, subway, Broadway, walking distance to Time Square and Central Park. Hotel was clean, rooms were comfortable, staff very helpful with directions and maps.

« Clean, efficient, and great location. »

Stayed here for a couple of nights as we had tickets to Billy Joel at MSG. Great location for anything in the Garden. Room was small, as usual in NYC. Updated bathroom with great pressure in the shower. Breakfast is the usual BW fare and in the cellar. They do keep the hot dishes well stocked. Did try the bar out back. Staff were all very friendly and efficient.

    « great stay »

The hotel was great! Perfectly clean. Rooms are super nice, bathroom clean updated and toiletry's were of good quality. Quite nights sleep, comfortable bed. Breakfast is far superior than any other hotel that I have stayed at, great selection of food that changed each day. Nice bar to get a great priced drink and relax at. Any questions we had about where to eat and how to get to places were answered right away. Bebe was an excellent front desk host who helped us greatly. Ryan got our bags to our rooms and gave us an overview of the room which was helpful. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel again.

« Good location in Manhattan »

The location of this hotel is perfect for your stay in Manhattan. It is very near the Empire State Building and the busstop for the Big Bus Tour. And it is on walking distance from the metro station for the metro to the airport. The staff is helpfull and the rooms are small, but clean. We liked coming back to a clean room every evening. We always had a good night sleep in the wonderful bed. We were always happy with the variations of the breakfast. Personally I really loved the omelette with cheese and waffles. The next time when we are in New York again we surely going to consider this hotel again. ?

    « Excellent location »

You couldn't pick a better location - less than 10 min walk to Penn station for the E train to Jamaica to catch the Air train to JFK, round the corner from Herald square subway and Macy's. Short walk to the Empire State Building and Times Square. Hotel itself small and comfortable, staff unobtrusive and and yet attentive. Rooms clean, beds comfortable and a great shower with a decent hairdryer and toiletries. In addition, the breakfast was varied every day with plenty of choice, there were pastries, muffins, porridge, three cereals and two hot choices. Also bread and brioche and a toaster if you like your bread toasted. There was always good, hot coffee or tea available in the lobby and a fitness room and PC with printer available, oh, and not forgetting a coffee and tea maker in the room, and air conditioning. Recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

« All employees are kind »

Great location. 20 min. Subway ride to museum of nat. Hist. And 20 min. Ride to little Italy. Staff is wonderful, breakfast, bar tenders, and front desk. Room could get tight feeling if staying for more than 2 nights. Clean and hospitable hotel.

« Comfy and clean stay »

Great location for major sights and attractions. We walked everywhere. The hotel is very small, about 6 rooms on each floor so when we requested a quiet room, we ended up getting one right across from the elevator (even after going back down to reception to change). Guests need to realize that people may be sleeping and shouldn't be talking at the top of their lungs while waiting for the elevator or letting their toddler run back and forth through the hallways. Our 2 double bed room was just the right size for the 2 of us. Note there is not much room around the beds but we managed. The beds were comfortable and we slept soundly when the hallways were quiet. There is not enough hooks in the bathroom to place stuff and the counter is very small. The lobby always provided free coffee, tea and iced water which was a much appreciated necessity during our crazy hot visit in August. The little patio out front and in the bar area in the back was cute. Breakfast in the basement was complimentary and we enjoyed the offerings. You need to go early if you want a seat. We had no problems finding a seat every day...There was a good selection of hot food that changed every day and the usual cereal, pastries, and yogurt were available. We were surprised that they offered fresh fruit as well! The staff were wonderful in making sure the food was replenished. The free wifi was spotty so I relied on my own data plan. The front desk staff for the most part seemed to want to help you.

    « Good budget hotel »

My family and I stayed here for the day and found the hotel to be in an excellent location with easy access to the shopping on Times Square and some excellent restaurants. The hotel is unpretentious with a small reception area and outside seating area. The rooms are small (we had a double, double room on the 7th floor) spotlessly clean and adequately furnished, there was only one chair at the desk but this was not a problem, there was a small wardrobe. The bathroom was small but perfectly function able with a double shower and small sink and all the amenities you would find in larger hotel bathrooms. The reception staff were extremely courteous and helpful. Whilst at the hotel we went to the Keg Room situated across the road, this is a great Irish sports bar, which has a super atmosphere and serves great food at reasonable prices ( for New York).

    « HOMEY, WARM RECEPTION »

Great location, great reception by the employees, wonderful amenities, clean rooms, robust buffet breakfast...i could go on and on. The only New York City hotel I've felt safe and comfortable in. Feels like home including the free laptop in the lobby - they've thought of everything

« Not luxurious, but not bad. »

We stayed for two nights in early October. Location was excellent for all the sights of Midtown and the subway. The hotel itself was clean, the staff friendly and for the price paid I guess you could call this a budget Manhattan hotel. We generally book 4 star and above hotels but we went with the good reviews on trip advisor and decided to give this hotel a go. Note at this stage, our room was booked and paid for well in advance in February and our stay wasn't taken until October. The room we were given was of adequate size for Manhattan. We were only on the 3rd floor so the traffic/general noise from the road outside could still be heard but not too badly. We were a bit disappointed that as we'd booked so far in advance that the 3rd floor room at the front of the hotel was all we were offered but aside from this the room was OK. We had a problem with a group who were staying in the adjacent room who didn't think anything of having a full blown argument and swearing in the lobby outside our room at 2am. We called reception and the member of staff on duty came up and sorted them out without drawing attention that it was us that had complained. We were impressed with this service given - too bad that the idiots in the room next door had woken us up in the middle of the night! This was not the fault of the hotel but I wouldn't expect this kind of behaviour in a 4 or 5 star hotel so maybe it is to be expected in a 3 star, who knows. The inclusive breakfast was just OK. The first day there were no seats at all so we had to take the food back to our room, the second day the place was empty so I guess you just have to be lucky. There is a small gym at the hotel but no one seemed to use it so we thought that the hotel could make better use of the space by extending the dining room into that space maybe? Our main concern with the breakfast was the disposable plates and cutlery. We are surprised in this day and age that a chain like Best Western can be so un-environmentally friendly. They had staff bringing out the food and beverages so why not invest in a dishwasher and get proper crockery/cutlery!! All in all this was an OK hotel but probably not one that we'd rush back to.

« Best value for your budget trip! »

All hotels in the midtown area are expensive, but this one is the least expensive but still has quality service. The location is a block from the subway. The included breakfast buffet is one of the best I have experienced in all my BW stays. The room although small was very clean with new furnishings. The front desk staff was very helpful with directions. A special shout out to Bebe she is the best! This hotel is centrally located and the place to stay if you can't afford upscale, but want a decent place to stay!

From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly staff, clean and inviting room and restaurant area.Staff were very helpful with directions to get around, the hotel was centrally located to get to all the sights and subway, the hot breakfast every morning was well prepared and the staff were very attentive we will definitely stay here again and recommend to our family and friends.

    « Great Hotel »

Just came back from a 3 day 2 night stay in NYC. I have to say from Check in to Check out the staff and service was fantastic, especially the front desk they were excellent. The rooms were clean and modern, sure they are small but its New York you should expect that plus your only in the room to sleep. I loved how they had water, coffee, and hot tea in the lobby everyday that was a nice touch. The breakfast was different everyday and was actually really good (im a picky eatter too) I highly recommend this hotel and will definitely will be back next yr. Thank you too the front desk am and pm staff you are all wonferful keep up the great work!

    « Bed Not Made »

Maid service cleaned bathroom but didn't make bed or clean bedroom area. Reported to front desk and response was maids left at 4 o'clock so no one available to make bed or clean bedroom area. Sent bellman to room with pillows and sheets so we could make the bed. Unbelievable.

Wonderful location and supremely comfortable bed with excellent bathroom facilities. There is so much more room than you initially think. A special mention to Stephen the barman whose friendly banter was the perfect tonic after a long day's activities. He is an asset.

« Best Western Does It Again »

Best Western Premier Herald Square was a great place for our wonderful New York City experience! You may have to look for this hidden gem -- it's got a very small space in front -- but once you've found it you will agree that the location is absolutely the best -- close to everything you could possibly want. Walking distance to most sights (Times Square, Macys, Empire State Building, New York Public Library), and for those you don't want to walk to, the subway station is super close. They offer a great breakfast -- you may have to wait, but staff are friendly and keep everything clean and organized and moving along. There are plenty of options for food close by as well. Included wifi makes keeping connected and updated very easy.

    « Lovely hotel. »

Located within easy walk of Penn Station, Macy's and Times Square, the hotel has an outdoor seating area to the street front, offering a smoking area should any of your party need it. The space was kept immaculately clean at all times. Free coffee, tea and water were available in the lobby at all times of the day and the desk staff were all friendly and helpful. The rooms are small (certainly our double on the 7th floor was), but that's expected in New York. Just be aware that a double room has two double beds, and is more suited to two people than four, especially when you factor in luggage for each person. But we had booked the room free through Best Western loyalty points, so essentially free accommodation in New York (at a very expensive time of the year!), so we were't complaining. The biggest plus for us was the bar at the back of the lobby, which had a daily happy hour, and outdoor seating in a little patio area, which gave us a bit of respite from the small room when we came back to shower before heading out again at night. The barman was friendly and very helpful. A free breakfast is served in the basement area, with a good selection of hot items, cereals and breads/pastries, perfect for filling up before a long day walking the length of Manhattan. Yes the room is quite small, and you may have to wait for a table, but it really was the perfect way to set yourself up for the day. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel. The location, the staff and all the amenities are ideal for a stay in such an amazing city!

    « Perfect location »

My daughter and I were staying in New York for a few days at the end of our cruise. This hotel is small compared to some hotels in New York with only 15 floors! Our room was on the 7th floor at the front and was a bit noisy but did t disturb us too much. We arrived early and although we could not access our room the hotel stored our luggage and there was free coffee and water. The room was very modern with a wonderful bathroom and a big flat screen TV. It is located only minutes from Macy's and only a ten minute walk from Times Square. At the end of our stay our flight was not til evening but the hotel stored our luggage. We are staying in New York next year and will definitely be using this hotel again.

« In the middle of everything »

Very convenient for shows and touring, but quiet and extraordinarily pleasant and professional staff. Very nice lounge/bar for relaxation at the end of the day. Good vicinity for good, but not great, restaurants. Rooms are small, but bigger than some I have been in in the city.

    5
    « Great Hotel Location »

It's a great hotel with the most convenient location. You can walk to Times Square in about 10 minutes and 3 minutes to a few subway stations. There are restaurants and eateries just outside the hotel and we feel very safe while staying there. The buffet spread is excellent though the breakfast area is a little bit small. Staff are friendly. Room is small but it's expected for NYC standard. I will definitely stay here again.

Rooms are small but very nice, they give you more than the basics here. Staff ar very helpful. Breakfast is a full hot buffet. Close to time square, about 5min walk away so it is quiet at night. Try also have a small bar/lounge in the back which is nice after a long day of walking.

« Great hotel, helpful staff »

Had a 3 night stay at this hotel. Arrived before check-in time in New York but hotel staff were very accommodating and let us check-in. Even let us get breakfast as we had travelled a long distance, although the buffet had closed they reopened it for us. At check out, they were again very helpful and let us check out a little later as we had a late flight and also helped organise transport to the airport. Breakfasts were good, plenty of choices and replenished regularly. Complementary tea and coffee in the lobby were great. Room was quiet, clean and bigger than I'd expected. All in all a great place to stay, central location, helpful staff and would definitely recommend it.

    « Great place »

Small quiet place to rest after long days. Spent 4 nights with 4 women in one small room. Double beds, queens would be much better but space is a premium. We removed a chair from the room and stored our suitcases to maximize space. Very little bathroom counter as well. Shower is awesome(no tub). We were on 11th floor. I originally wanted a higher floor with empire view, even tho this had no view (adjacent buildings) it was super quiet. The only noise would be from other guest doors opening and closing and since there are only 6 rooms per floor it was minimal. We were barely in our room so not a big deal. We filled up our water bottles daily in the lobby with fresh ice water and enjoyed tea and coffee every evening. Breakfast was great, many options, always a different egg/meat choice as well as traditional breads, cerals, oatmeal yogurt. Location is premium. Within 5 min walk to empire state, macys, Penn Station, msg! About 12 minutes from times square! Even tho there are thousands of hotels in this city, I woukd return here just out of comfort. ..and I hope to return some day. Thnaks NEW YORK!!

This hotel was close to the subway, Empire State Building, Time Square, 5th Ave. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good and there is a small outdoor patio where they had happy hour.

« The location is the best thing here! »

The room is a little small but cozy and also very clean. Excelent hotel service. Breakfast is well served, but the location is what suited us the most. Just a corner away from the subway station, we could go anywhere in NYC. it's near the empire state and madison sq garden and one can also walk to times square, broadway etc.

    « Great breakfast »

Was not expecting the great breakfast since I spend so many nights at best westerns. New things every morning. Never had the same thing all week. Great location close to time square. Great room too. Friendly staff

    « Great hotel »

We had a great stay at this hotel. Excellent place to get around the city. The elevator was really slow and our key cards stopped working after a couple of uses. Breakfast was really good and there was a great selection and I needed to print something off and the there was a computer and printer there.

« Nice Hotel in a Great Location! »

We were a little taken aback at the beginning when we saw the size of our room as it is compact, and we are not used to such small rooms. However, the room was very clean, quiet, and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast that was included was very good with a great selection that should suit anyones appetite. However, this breakfast room can be extremely busy at times, so be prepared to either wait for a table, or take your food to another part of the hotel. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating!! The hotel itself is in a great location for getting to Times Square, Macy's, Empire State Bldg. and the Hop On/ Hop Off bus. Also had good access to many restaurants in the area. As the bathroom is also very compact, if mgmt. could remove the picture above the toilet & put up a couple of shelves, it would give a little more room for personal bathroom articles.

« Good Location, Decent Hotel, Don't stay on Higher Floor »

The location and property are good but the elevators make a horrible noise. Upon complaining I was told that this is normal!!! I am on the 15 floor. I overhead other people complaining as well. The hotel needs to do something, this not the first time I am staying on a high floor, never had a problem.

« Very nice hotel good service and excellent location »

A very easy going hotel, good service and friendly staff. Check in and out was smooth and easy. The room was clean at arrival and kept tidy by the staff through out our entire stay (Monday to Friday). The room was modern and up to date with a well working, low noise aircondition, nice TV and complementary coffee in the room. Wifi worked excellent and served our needs fine. The hotel's location is very good as we prefer subway for quick transport around the city. Short walking distances to sites as Times Square and Empire State building. We could easily walk to and from Penn station with our luggage as we used train from/to Newark international airport. Breakfast was quite good, not very thrilling, but absolutely fit for purpose (ie filling up energy reserves before a long day in the coolest citiy in the world!). On my wish list for next visit: a small cooler in room for water and soft drinks, or perhaps even a beer or two.

    « Suited us fine »

Ideally situated, clean and comfortable. This hotel suited us fine as it was so well located for so many of the main attractions that we wanted to visit. The fact that the room was small was not a problem as we were only in there to sleep and bed was comfortable. Breakfast, although nothing to get excited about was a bonus as most hotels in New York do not include breakfast.

    « Unexpected surprise »

My mom and I went to NYC for the Rutgers game and to visit my children. I picked the Best Western Premier Herald Square because of price and location. I was pleasantly surprised at the free breakfast. It is close to the subway, and a fantastic deal. It will now be my go to NYC hotel.

« Good location, nice staff »

This hotel offered just what I expected of it. I arrived in the morning after taking a red eye flight and while there were no rooms ready yet the staff invited us to go down and enjoy breakfast and held our bags until later in the day. When I did get to the room it was small but comfortable. It is definitely in the same size range as other rooms I have stayed in in New York. The room I was in didn't face out to the street and it was very quiet. The bed was comfortable. The location was great. I would stay here again.

« calm in a sea of stress »

We needed rooms in midtown at a very high demand time we feel fortunate that we found this property. The staff is friendly and accommodating. They delivered the competence and professionalism one would expect from a large metropolitan hotel but with the approachability and friendliness one would expect from a family motel in the midwest. We appreciate the patience of the front desk at a time that was not easy for them. The rooms are tidy and clean with tasteful modern bathrooms and good linens. The included breakfast is good quality and tasty with variation day to day. A great value in a great town.

    « Nice Hotel »

Very friendly staff, clean room, very good location. Nice to have parking in the same block. Rooms are small, but we did not spend much time there. The beds were comfy and the breakfast was good. Would stay there again.

« Good location, nice hotel »

The twin room was very small, we expected so but were still surprised how small is was. It was very uncomfortable for 4 people... The bed was quite comfy and room was clean and tidy. Bathroom ok. AC was quite noisy and so was the AC:s installed outside of neighbour buildings...Our window was towards Empire State Building, which was great. Floor was 16th so no noise at all from the streets.. There is only 6 rooms/floor so no noise from the corridoor at all too! Lobby was tiny. The breakfast was ok, warm dishes varies every Morning. I hated disposables cups/plates though, not so environmental! TV was set quite loud, not so nice if you want to eat your breakfast in a silence.... The bar at the backyard was ok, but noisy thanks to AC:s besides the terrace.... Macy´s and Times square was near, but we didn´t find any good dining restaurants nearby, only fast food restaurants... Average Best western not so fancy, but good.

« Great Hotel, helpful staff in a perfect location »

This is a wonderful hotel in a great mid town location. The staff are very helpful and the breakfasts are just right to set you up for the day. The room we had gave us a brilliant view of The Empire State Building. I would 100% recommend this hotel.

I liked the hotel, it had a lot of people but never felt crowded. Always coffee at premises. Smiling receptionist . Don't care for breakfasts that are not fresh made - place is underground and a bit clammy.

« Very clean and affordable. Close to attractions »

Small but to be expected in city. Was clean that's what I cared about. The hot Breakfast is so/so but they provided other healthy options. Was surprised at what we got for the price. Would def stay again.

« Great place to stay »

Stayed here for 3 nights, very comfortable hotel and room. Matched the published hotel photos so that was a good sign. Bed very comfortable and although on the street side had no problems sleeping. Staff extremely helpful and it also has a little bar with daily happy hour. Breakfast was included and was good although a very small room which was very busy. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a wee gem of a hotel near Penn St station. Breakfast is provided and there is plenty of choice. I'd highly recommend it. OK the rooms are small but we weren't there to spend time in the room apart from sleeping!!!!

« Great stay, great location »

We stayed here 3 nights and enjoyed it very much. All staff were pleasant. Room was very nice, especially the beautiful shower! We had asked for early check-in, a room on an upper level, and a quiet location....all delivered! Ice water and coffee in the lobby is a nice touch. At check-in we were given a gift bag with 2 waters and 2 snacks; another nice touch. Location is superb! 2 blocks from the subway which we used every day. Nice seating area out front to watch the world walk by. Breakfast was excellent! Several hot foods to choose from; lots of variety. We would definitely return to this Best Western.

    « Great place in Mid-town »

This is a great place, close to the metro and Time Square. Our room was quiet and the beds comfy. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. My family will stay here again. The two issues we had were the bad internet connection and the poor breakfast selection.

« We'd Stay Again but higher up »

Ok, this has the usual small size rooms for NY, but the 3 adults in our group managed to navigate our 3 suitcases on the floor and not fall over. Staff are very good here, the free breakfast is quite good too with a bit of variation each day, although the breakfast area is tight for so many people. The ONLY downside was our room on the 3rd floor was just above some air-conditioning plant so we had the drone of the fans all night, it was bearable but annoying and I wonder why such rooms aren't offered at a cheaper rate. That's the only downside. Location is terrific with some reasonable eateries within a block. We'll stay again BUT be requesting a room higher up.

The staff, accommodations, price and location are perfect. I stay here whenever I'm in the city for business. Very attentive staff, great breakfast included and I love the patio bar that serves lighter fare food.

« GREAT HOTEL FOR PRICE AND LOCATION »

I just stayed at the BW Herald Square in New York. From the moment I arrived, all was pleasant. There were quite a few people at the front desk, naturally, since NY has tourists from all the country and the world. The front desk staff were helping every single one of them patiently and civilly. My room was spotless. The bed was great - with excellent pillows, which I appreciate. No noise! There's a safe in the room. If you don't know NY, you may not realize how excellent the price is for the quality and location. They have a nice little bar downstairs, in the back, taking you away from all that noise and chaos on 36th. Breakfast nice. Fresh fruit available. I highly recommend this hotel.

    « Great location »

We have nearly completed our 4 night stay on this hotel. Its location is excellent the rooms are clean and smart and good size by New York standards and there is the bonus of a complimentary breakfast, it's not a extravagant choice for breakfast but is great start to the day. The staff are all friendly and attentive, well worth a stay you are very close to all the shopping. Thank you Best Western we shall return

    « Excellent stay :) »

We arrived at the hotel, mum, dad & 2 teenagers. We were initially allocated a room on floor 2 but the receptionist advised us to return the next day to change to a higher floor which is advisable for longer stays. We did just as she suggested , finding floor 2 very noisy & enjoyed 7 nights at this hotel on floor 17 with views of the Empire State Building The rooms are lovely, modern with everything you need. The bathroom has a great big shower. The housekeeping staff are excellent and once we hung out the do not disturb sign, we're not disturbed for an 8.30 am clean ! Staff make this hotel, reception staff helpful printing out tickets we had bought on online, breakfast room staff efficient and the young man who stored our bags too. Breakfast can be a bit of a bun fight, the room is too small really, but you can take it back to your room or to the lounge . It might be a good idea to hang a notice asking guests to retire to the lounge with their coffee once they have finished their actual breakfast as many seemed to hang around chatting :( Food choices were variable and replenished often All in all I would have no hesitation in returning to this centrally placed hotel

    « Basic »

Reception staff were great and very helpful, rooms were small but clean, afraid that's where it ends! Constant notice from lift outside our room kept us awake and breakfast was self service on throw away plates and disposable cutlery. I expect that in a canteen not a hotel

    « Lovely stay »

We are arrived 3 hours before check-in but we were given a room without a hassle and extra charge. That was a nice touch. Our room was always cleaned even when we slept in and left the hotel late.We just notified the front desk and the room was attended to. The staff was always helpful and pleasant. The complimentery breakfast was simple and good enough. We particularly enjoyed the flapjacks. Overall,we had a good stay and will definately come back.

    « Great stay »

Great location to many of NYC highlights, excellent attention by breakfast staff, front desk staff able to assist with all requests. Housekeeping staff co-operative and attentive. Great bed and shower, fairly quiet considering the location in busy NYC. Also convenient to the hotel is a 24 hr carpark - excellent for when we picked up our hire car and needed a spot to park it. In room safe a good feature. Room is small so no fridge, only a minor inconvenience.

    « Wonderful Experience »

I have been to New York several times and have stayed in different parts of the city. I stayed at the Best Western Premier Herald Square this past weekend for 4nights/5 days. I was impressed by the location, incredible staff, trendy décor, comfortable accommodations, filling breakfasts, and continual replenishment of fresh water, coffee, and teas at the entrance of the hotel. This was especially helpful after a long day of nonstop activity. If this were my first visit to Manhattan, I would have commented on the small rooms. However, now I know better, as most hotels and venues tend to be smaller in scale. New Yorkers make good use of their space. The hotel is conveniently located between 5th and 6th avenues (you can do shopping for days), near subway stops, in walking distance of landmarks, and restaurants on all sides. To my dismay, on the last night of my stay, I noticed two Poke stops that I could have accessed from my room. I highly recommend this hotel! I'm already thinking about my next trip to New York!

« Great location and service »

We enjoyed this location and the staff was great. Special thanks to Erica, breakfast Manager for helping with food allergies and Ryan, bellman, for help with being locked out our room. Only negatives, small rooms and smelly garbage on the street front.

« Nice hotel for central location »

This was our second stay at this hotel. We've found it to be a nice hotel experience in a great central location in the city. The early room availability and room upgrade was a pleasant surprise this stay. Very nice breakfast is included in the room rate. We would both stay here again and recommend it to friends.

    « Wonderful stay »

We stayed at this hotel Friday to Sunday for a family vacation! This hotel exceeded our expectations. It was close to Times Square as well. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and had ample space. Plenty of towels and when an extra blanket was requested it was sent right up. It also had a nice sitting area out front, a inside bar/lounge in the back and outside Seating as well. They offered happy hour, free coffee and ice water as well. I would definetly recommend and use this hotel again in the future!

« I loved coming back to this clean well air conditoned room after being out and about in New York »

This Best Western was clean, quiet and located perfectly in the center of manhattan. Everything is at the tip of your finger. Food of all kinds and stores of all kinds close. The air conditoning worked great. The bed was extremely comfortable. The toiletries and room was always cleaned and well stocked. The staff was always helpful and polite. The city is crowded and overwhelming but this hotel is on a quieter street and is relaxing inside which was perfect. The shower is big and good water pressure. I can mostly only say good things. The room is small but worked well for two people. I will let you know the wifi did not work well at all for my son and I on the 9th floor. There are 12 floors.

« Perfect location, Perfect vacation! »

Stayed at the hotel for 3 nights on the 17th floor. Very clean hotel with friendly staff. Our room was small for a family of three but perfectly comfortable which is expected when staying in the city. Room was spotless with a view of the Empire State Building. Air Condition was working great without any sound. When I inquired about a fridge (needed to store milk for my toddler) they were able to accommodate me and installed a small fridge in the room. Hotel is in the perfect location. Times Square is a 10 min walk, Macy's is 5min, Empire State Building is 5min, Station is nearby as well as variety of restaurants and lots of shopping on 5th Avenue, Herald Square, and Broadway, all within walking distance. Neighborhood felt safe walking around in the evening. Continental Breakfast was included. Erika and rest of the staff during breakfast did an immaculate job servicing guests. Thank you for washing my sons sippy cup on two occasions it was much appreciated. Take advantage of happy hour at the bar and make the most of your stay at this hotel. My family and I enjoyed our stay and will be back.

    « Can't beat the value »

Excellent hotel situated in Midtown. So close to Broadway, Times Square, and the subway. Sade (I hope I'm spelling it right) made check in easy, quick and simple. We had a room on the eighth floor, with floor to ceiling windows, facing W 36th, and it was great! Modern room and washroom, free WiFi, comfortable bed, and high functioning AC. The gym downstairs has new equipment too. Loved the little outside patio behind the bar, as well as the water, coffee and tea that were complimentary in the lobby 24/7. The only downside was the included breakfast. Overall, would recommend!

« Great base to explore New York City! »

Best Western Premier Herald Square was a great place to stay. We had six days of sightseeing in New York City. The hotel is in a great location with access to all the areas we wanted to go. Subway lines are close. The property is very well kept and clean. The mirrored elevators are so shiny it's hard to tell that they are solid. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Shower was great. The elevators were very fast and always there when you needed it. The breakfast was amazing. Since it starts early we could always get a wonderful breakfast before heading out for the day. Each day was different, there was always some kind of meat, eggs, oatmeal-anything that one might want to eat. It was excellent quality and delicious, very clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly, very responsive. Shameza was especially delightful. We would definitely stay here again!

Booked for 2 persons and specifically asked for tro beds sine my brother and I, whom both are over 6'6', were tarvelig together. The front desk refused and could not even help with a madress or a couch. Stay away unless you wanna throw 250 dollars in the sink!!!

« Somewhere between Average and Very Good for us... »

THe very good is the front desk staff, the breakfast room staff and the service folks, and the gorgeous, very European room. Clean, well appointed, and really nice shower (yeah for glass doors and not yucky curtains). And, the ac/heat unit control was in the room and very responsive. The average is for the breakfast. While there was much offered and many folks would find it plenty. The orange juice did taste fresh, as did the milk. The bagels were good. The hot food was so incredible SALTY! After one bite, we threw it all out. We were there three mornings, and just ate a bagel with cream cheese. But given the pricing of food, it was a good spread and it was clear that the families didn't mind it. We booked on the phone after looking at prices as discount hotel prices, and they did almost meet what we found on those sites. The room was in great shape, but faced directly over the air conditioning units in the alleyway. It was the fourth floor so I'm guessing that higher floors - the hotel seems to have 4 rooms on a narrow 17 floor building - would be better. But given the location, it was a very good place at a good price for NYC.

    « Best Best Western »

I stay at BWs frequently when traveling for work, and I can say without a doubt that this is the best one I have stayed at. It's a great hotel. Breakfast is good, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the staff is very accommodating. Sade was particularly sweet for giving us the room we requested, which was an upgrade. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Worth a stop at. »

The hotel is ideally situated. It has easy access to Macy's and is in waking distance to Times Square, Broadway and the highline . It is a longer walk to central Park but if you fancy a stroll it will take you about 30-40 minutes. The hotel itself is tucked away just off 5th Ace. The staff are attentive and helpful. The breakfasts are great they have a good choice and it changes everyday. The lady (sorry I have forgotten her name) does a fantastic job. The food is hot and regularly changed there is a variety of hot food, pastries, cereals, fruit and yoghurts plus the coffee and juices. This does set you up for a good day out. The bar is a bit disappointing I was hoping for draft beer but there is a good choices of bottled beers and spirits. I wish they would have let children in the bar past six pm. Overall a good hotel well situated.

    « Incredibly disappointed »

Very hot in May when we visited NYC. We chose this hotel for its location. The location worked out well for my daughter and I, however, the ac in our room (our entire floor actually), was broken and never repaired for our entire stay. We were given a fan which provided some relief, but after traversing the city all day, no one wants to come back to a hot hotel room. The manager stated he would pro rate the room due to the inconvenience, however, we never received the pro ration. Based on this, very disappointed with our stay and would not return. This is not normal customer service handling for a Best Western, in my experience. There are many lodging competitors to choose from so service needs to be top notch.

Good atmosphere with friendly staff. Breakfast included reasonable / good. Bedroom and bathroom very clean and comfortable. Good shower. Available coffee and tea in the room. Fresh water and ice in the lobby. Good location. Access by subway on the corner of 34st to 6th Avenue (Avenue of The Americas) 5 minutes walk. Times Square a 15-minute walk. It has a gym. Air conditioning effective and good soundproofing. very good WiFi A little cramped room for 4 people but comfortable

    « Great Stay! »

Located perfectly. Rooms were a little smaller than expected but had a great view of the Empire State Building. As soon as we got the bags up in the room we headed straight to the bar that not only had the best happy hour in Manhattan, but THE BEST bartender hands down. Stephen really set the tone for this whole trip for us. We looked forward to seeing him everyday we were here, he even made sure that he saved a few of the beers that I took a huge liking to during my stay. He happens to be off on our last 2 days here and it won't be the same, but he truly makes this hotel a 5 star spot and worth leaving a review before we even leave!!

    « Perfectly placed Hotel. »

Do as a family of 4, kids aged 18 & 12, we were a little cramped but as we were only sleeping here and not spending any amount of time in the room, we made it work. Its super clean, comfortable and in a fantastic location. The higher up the hotel you go, the less noise. Staff were good and the provision of water, tea and coffee in the lobby was great. Breakfast was just ok, a little disappointed as it had been mentioned on here how great it was. Dining room was cramped with the amount of guests so if you can get there early, I recommend it. No complaints overall, we would stay again.

    4
« Great Service, Small Rooms »

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Location was excellent - close to Herald Square and subway. Lounge was great - be sure to check out the happy hour for drink specials (1/2 the price of drinks out at dinner). The only downside is the room size. Probably fine if it's just 2 people, but very crowded with 3-4. I've stayed at similar hotels in NYC where it was more spacious for similar price.

    5
« Great staff great spot! »

Right in the heart of NYC. Clean rooms nice layout and friendly staff. They went out of their way to make the stay easy. We had two separate bookings and had to change rooms, however they moved our luggage for us so we could enjoy the sites and sounds. Close to Macy's and a a short walk to Times Square.

« The most courteous and helpful front desk team that I have ever seen in my years of travel, excellent team »

The hotel is so well located in the midst of the city, you can walk either on 5th or 6th avenue and you will find everything around the corner, so centrally located that shopping, eateries, excitement is just walking distance away.

« Excellent service and great hospitality »

We stayed for 2 nights, time was limited so we chose this hotel being at the heart of Manhattan. The welcome was warm, the rooms were clean and location was perfect. Staff and management were very helpful and managed out local tours. The breakfast was good too, I was happy with this choice .

« Oasis from the Hustle and Bustle »

Our experience here as a family of four was mostly positive. Our room on the 17th floor was quiet, attractive, and the beds were comfortable. The air conditioning worked well. We had a view of the Empire State Building, which was particularly striking at night. Bebe at the front desk is very congenial and helpful. We booked at this hotel based on the positive ratings, location, free Wifi, and breakfast (which represents a daily savings of $30 to $60 for us). As a family with older children, there were definitely two downsides to this hotel. First, our double room was so cramped that only one person at a time could walk around the beds. Sitting in the desk chair with someone (relatively tall) in the bed behind you meant being kicked in the back. The space issue was compounded by a relatively small wardrobe closet and the luggage rack in the opposite corner of the room. Second, as many have noted, the breakfast area is congested and poorly arranged. There were daily problems with finding a table for four of us. In my humble opinion, the area for toasting bread/bagels should be moved to a separate table to prevent bottlenecks and the chairs in the room should be changed out for smaller ones. It's awesome to have breakfast on site and included in the cost of your room, but there was a moderate amount of unpleasantness with the breakfast experience. On a positive note, the orange juice was very good and I appreciated that there was hot oatmeal most mornings. We visited the lounge one evening, which was a good experience. The bartender was friendly and we enjoyed a hummus plate that was reasonably priced. Our hotel departure was smooth, with the front desk staff arranging car service to take us to the airport, though it was about double the cost of a yellow taxi. In summary, I would consider staying here again based on the location and cleanliness of the hotel, as well as proximity to dozens of reasonably priced ethnic dining options, but I would look at other hotel options that may allow more space within the room for our family.

« Great location and a great bar but that's about it! »

I write this review taking into consideration my experiences at other Best Western Hotels in Europe. This was my first visit to the US so not sure if there is a different rating system for Best Westerns in the US. The hotel is located in a great location on 36W, which is a five minute walk to the Empire State Building and about 10 minutes walk to Times Square. The location makes it a great choice base to explore the city from. The hotel bar is also great with a happy hour that finishes at 8pm when all beers are $4. Some good bottled craft beers to be had. These are the positives about the hotel. The check-in process was good enough but there was no recognition of customer loyalty from the staff. I am a diamond select member but was not offered any welcome gift or a room upgrade, not so much as a thanks for being a loyal BW customer. I expected a little more from a 'Premier' BW. Our King size bedroom on the 16th floor was clean and comfortable. A bit on the small side but I guess this is to be expected in NYC. Again for a 'Premier' BW, I expected a mini-fridge and a small welcome gesture but this was not available. Sound-proofing could be better. Noise from the corridor and the room next door could be heard. The breakfast starts at 6.30 and finishes by 9.30. The variety is okay but could do with more options. The biggest disappoint was that the plates and cutlery were disposable plastic and paper cups for drinks and you are expected to clear up after you finish eating??!! Not a 'Premier' experience by any means. All in all, a disappointing experience for me as I was expecting something a bit more from a 'Premier' BW but maybe as I said the grading for Europe and US might be different!

    « Great location »

Good hotel, great location. Stayed for 2 nights. Our room was spacious on NY scale, very clean and bed was comfortable. Breakfast though is a down side, served in a basement with no windows and air, crowded, very few tables.

« Great Place to stay near Penn Station and Times Square »

Central to everything and a brisk walk to either Times Square or Penn Station. Subway a block away. Great front desk staff, great complimentary breakfast courtesy of Erica who works very hard. Rooms are contemporary, clean and comfortable. The hotel size itself is smaller, but in no ways uncomfortable. My second trip here and it won't be my last.

    « Great Location »

We stayed here because it was convenient with a cab to the docks for a cruise we were taking, but it was just a great location in general for mid-Manhattan. The service was excellent. When we had a problem with a squeaking bathroom door, they sent someone up to fix it. The staff at the front desk was very helpful. The rooms (we stayed twice, two nights before and one night after the cruise) were very small, common in NY. But they were clean and attractive. The beds are only full-size and my husband, who is not very tall, had to sleep diagonally. There is very little shelf space in the bathroom, but a good amount in the room itself. The shower was very nice. The included breakfast was good, even offering French pastries.

    « Nice hotel in mid-town Manhattan »

Traveled from upstate NY to JFK to pick up my daughter. Easy access from JFK to this location in mid-town. Hotel was nicely located. Times Square, Radio City, Empire State Building all very close. Walked to the World Trade Center from the hotel. It was a good distance but doable. Took the subway back to within 3 blocks of hotel. Hotel was clean. Staff was polite and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Free breakfast had everything you'd want to fuel up and hit the streets. Plenty of dining options nearby. Parking garage in the same block as hotel. Easy access to the Lincoln Tunnel when leaving town. I'd go back!

We are a family of 3 and stayed at the hotel for 8 nights, it was so comfortable, the rooms were cleaned daily and kept very neat, one of the best location to stay in as everything is around the corner, I will rate the location as 10/10, the hot buffet breakfast was very good the menu changed every day, the chefs, housekeeping besides the front desk were very friendly and warm, every staff pampered us and we felt like home, the only thing missing was a mini bar in order to store some food items, although I have traveled to entire Europe and this being my first trip to the US, I'm already looking to my next holiday in NY and already planned to book the same hotel

« Concise, clean lodging in the garment district »

This is a newish, small hotel well located for business and leisure travel to Manhattan. The property is tucked into a row of other small hotels on W. 36th, within easy walking to Herald Square, the Empire State Building, the Morgan Library, and, a little farther, Times Square. The rooms are quite compact, as many NYC hotel rooms are. These are budget accommodations, but everything was clean, functional and pleasant. I was traveling solo, and I could see the room being quite tight for two or more, but I saw plenty of couples and families there. The room rate includes a light breakfast in the basement. There is a small exercise room. The staff is informed and helpful. Wi-Fi was good, street noise was minimal.

« A gem in the middle of Manhattan! »

The hotel is really very well located in Manhattan within walking distance of NYC attractions. Plenty to see and do nearby with a lot of great eating options. Subway station around the corner from de hotel, though it is easy to walk anywhere. Very clean and cozy property with a nice contemporary décor. Amazing customer service offered by the all staff of the hotel, especially the staff on the front desk, they are very welcoming, friendly and helpful, always ready to answer any question or give directions. A nice breakfast is included in the room price. A variety of cold and hot food is served every morning, always restocked. Nice to have cold water, hot coffee and tea 24 hours on the way in/out of the hotel. A bar and a lounge with a cozy and quiet green courtyard are on site. It is true that the rooms are small compared with the standards (It is Manhattan after all), but they are very clean, with nice décor and comfortable beds. Free WiFi included, another plus. Definitely, I will choose Best Western Premier Herald Square in my next trip to NYC.

    « A great stay »

I had a short stay in here -- checked in late in the night and checked out early in the morning. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The room is clean and decent. It gave me a great experience... love it!

« Great hotel, even better location. »

We stayed here for 4 nights. The staff were always friendly and professional. Our room was spotless and very chic. We requested a room with a view and were placed on the 13th floor. The breakfast served each day was very tasty and lots of choices. The earlier you get down there the better chance you have of getting a table. The location of this hotel is amazing. Right off of 5th Avenue and about 15 mins walk to Times Square. There is no doubt we would stay here again and have already recommended this hotel to others.

    « Not that Impressed »

The property was listed as a Best Western Premier property which gave me the impression that the property would have larger rooms, a pool, and other special features. The property at best was a Plus property. The rooms are very small the breakfast was ok nothing special and the internet did not work the entire stay.

    « NYC Birthday trip »

This is a great hotel. Room was clean, Beds comfy, good breakfast although the breakfast room is small. This hotel is tall and skinny and I believe there are only about 6 rooms per floor. Fresh coffee and ice water in the lobby all day. Room is not huge but it was plenty of space for 2 of us AND I had gift cards from the summer promotion. This hotel is close to The Keg Room and McGettigans...both Irish Pubs. Good food and drink. Also close to Keen's Steakhouse. Easy walking distance to subway, Radio City Music Hall, Empire State Building, Macy's and Bryant Park. They can also store your luggage until it is time to go to the airport. I would stay here again.

    « Perfectly Located »

I stayed here in June, it was my third visit to NYC and this is the best hotel I have stayed in so far. Perfectly located. Near a subway, close enough to walk to Times Square, Grand Central, Central Park, Empire State to pick just a few. Felt very safe here. Complimentary tea, coffee and chilled water available in the lobby 24 hours with a small but pleasant hotel bar with outside patio at the rear. Breakfast was included with our booking and it was very basic but it was just right to start off your day and it was varied each day. The dining area is very small so occasionally there wasn't a free table but we didn't have to wait long for one to open up. However, it was fine to take your breakfast up to your room if you wanted to. The dining room staff were lovely and very attentive and helpful, everything was quickly replenished as it ran out. Rooms were great. I had a standard King room which was a decent size and clean. The bed was comfortable and there was a coffee maker in the room and a nice flat screen TV. There was enough desk / surface space to store items and a chest of drawers and small wardrobe with a safe. Nice bathroom with a big shower cubicle with a great shower. Our housekeeping lady was lovely, really friendly and helpful. All staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay here again.

« Stay in Times Square. »

We stayed on the top floor. I was nice, very clean with very helpful staff. Room was very small not really enough room to put your suitcases. I don't know maybe that is a typical size for a room in downtown NY by time square. The main compliant was that the A/C vent was right over the bed and blew down directly on you. I got very cold at night unless you sleep with the covers over you head.

Very clean, looks new, great helpful staff, convenient walking distance to times square, Bryant park, Broadway and subways. Eighth floor very quiet. Clean, small room but had every convenience. Air condition worked great! Free breakfast nice and lots to choose from. Beautiful little back patio bar w/happy hours. Really enjoyed our stay! Would definitely go back and recommend to others.

« Wonderful Boutique Hotel with Fabulous Staff and Location!!! »

Hat's off the the staff of BWP, , especially Bebe, who was so helpful, funny, knowledgeable and friendly that she deserves a raise!!! We stayed there from 7/07/16 thru 7/11/16 in room 1205, but I kept telling Bebe our room was 1206 (guess my gal and I stayed out too late each night!). Our room was perfectly quiet, clean, neat and nicely decorated, especially for a budget price of $159 per night!! They have a free, worthy breakfast that had a ample selection of eggs, sausage, various breads, cereal, juices, coffee, milk and tea. Important extras in the lobby were cold water, and very good hot coffee. The New York Times and one other major paper were available for free at the front desk, and if you like the Times like I do, get there early as copies run out quickly. The bathroom had an excellent newer shower with tall, heavy-quality glass enclosures, the toiletries were of excellent quality, and the cleaning crew were top notch, as was the bellman. The location was a 10 minute walk to Times Square and Broadway shows, ~5 minutes to Union Station, and a few minutes from the nearest subway. When we return to Manhattan, we will stay here again, and request room 1206....I mean 1205;)

    « Great times »

We stayed for four nights at the best Western-room 1606. We had the best view of the Empire State Building! The only problem staying on the sixth floor was the water pressure during showers. FYI-the blow dryer is located behind the bathroom door? I had to ask the front desk where it was. There are no refrigerators or microwaves, but they will store items for you if needed. They did provide the little extras that many hotels do not - mouthwash, q-tips, shoe cleaner. They do have the customer in mind! Very friendly staff and provide a hardy breakfast to guests. Erka, kitchen coordinator, is very friendly. Hotel is located not far from the subway station. For travelers who do not walk a lot, bring good walking shoes and remember your feet will swell - so your normal shoes will not fit...be ready to walk at least 5 miles per day- but with the sights, it really doesn't seem that far. We averaged 9 miles per day and I had to buy shoes because my comfortable sketchers wouldn't fit my swollen feet! Buy the comfortable sandals that you can expand. Pack an apple from the cafeteria to eat later :)

« Great location, friendly staff »

It's been a while since I last stayed at a hotel in New York City. I chose the BW Premier Herald Square because of the excellent location, right near Macy's, Penn station, Madison Square Garden and many subway lines. As I extended my stay, I had an insight into two King-size room: executive (very spicy for NY standards, on the upper floors) and standard (rather on the small side, which is normal for NYC). When sharing the standard room and you've done quite a bit of shopping it might be a little tight. There is a complimentary breakfast buffet, however I went once as it was so crazy crowded. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, which is not always the case in NYC hotels. There is free WiFi in the room.

« Great staff but allow time to wait for the elevator »

We were in the city to go to the fireworks and do a little sight seeing. The location is excellent. Close to Empire State Building, Macy's, Bryant Park, Penn Station. We arrived early and they kept our luggage for us while we went exploring. The two young ladies (Shameza and Bebe) who checked us in were very friendly and helpful. We also got our parking validated which took off $14 of the parking fee. They told us about some of the best places to watch the fireworks. We had a room on the 14th floor facing the back. Not much of a view but very quiet, which was needed after returning from the fireworks. We arrived back too late to eat but the front desk person, a young man, gave us the number to a 24hr pizza place and we were able to get it delivered to our room. Our room was small but it had two double beds, which slept comfortably. The room was clean and furnished with practical furniture--nothing exceptional. The bathroom likewise was small but towels were plentiful. Breakfast the next morning was sufficient as well. We arrived toward the end and the room was crowded so we took our food back to the room. The elevator wait times going down were longer than usual. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. The outstanding customer service we received from the staff at the front desk was amazing ! We stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights. The hotel was small but very clean and comfortable. The best selling point though was the outstanding customer service we received from the staff at the front desk. From check in, to asking about places to run, booking us a ride to the airport, and finally helping us get sunglasses back that were left behind. Specifically Bebe, Shameza and Jay should get credit for the top notch customer service. Thanks for a great stay!

« Nice stay, great value »

We booked this hotel as an addition to our lodging due to an extended stay in Manhattan. Our other hotel had no rooms available for the add on night that we needed. It was quite surprising and good. Thank you Bibi and Andre. You are indeed exemplary, staff. The location is prime, a few minutes to the Empire State Building, Fifth Avenue, and Herald Square. The breakfast was ok only, typical of muffins, bagels, juices coffee and tea. Nontheless, it was free. Staff in the breakfast area were attentive and pleasant. Our room was in the 13th floor, clean, neat, good size no issues. I'd consider staying again.

    « Good Hotel. »

Good Location makes it easier to reach. All we have do is just reach Penn Station and take a walk to W 36th St. as simple as that. Room was not big according to our expectations. But clean and comfy as hell. View was awesome. Breakfast too good. Times Square, Empire State Building, Madison Square, Shake Shack, and many more just a 5 min walk away. Would definitely visit again if there is a discount.??

« Great location, nice and new »

This hotel is a perfect location for lots of activity. I walked everywhere! It is new and still has the clean feel. Staff was very helpful and accommodating! Room is small but so what! I had a 13th floor rear room which was very quiet! Would stay again in a heartbeat!

« Awesome location and great staff! »

The room is very small. However, the staff is fantastic; especially Erica who cooks breakfast and makes sure your stay is special. She took a personal interest in our family and our experience in New York. The location is perfectly centered in the middle of everything Manhattan has to offer. We walked everywhere. We travel a lot and this is one of the best vacations we have ever had.

« Great Service and Great Location »

Don't under estimate this place, Small and Cozy is just perfect !! Front counter staff always pleasant and accommodating. My most recent visit , Shameza and Ryan were gracious as always, nice to see the same staff each time. Great little bar in the back, it's nice to RELAX and not be in the hustle bustle all the time, nice little patio in the back also. This place is 3 blocks to Empire State Building, about 8 blocks to Penn Station, 7 Blocks to the heart of Times SQ, 7 Blocks to Grand Central Terminal and so on.. THIS hotel is beyond convenient, stay here and enjoy what its location has to offer !

« A week at this hotel was wonderful, especially the staff »

Spent a week in NYC at this hotel. Staff - Shameza, Bebe and Sade were friendly, helpful and accommodating with our sight seeing and travel within the city. They all went out of their way to be courteous and helpful. The hotel is clean, great complimentary breakfast that changed every day. Hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to Subway and bus stops and many historic buildings. Would stay there again without hesitation.

« Great place to stay. Would recommend it to anyone. »

Recently spent two nights at this hotel. It was conveniently located to major tourist attractions in New York City and just a cab or subway ride away from others. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The hotel itself was modern, clean, and quiet. The full breakfast buffet was superb. Great job to Erica and the rest of the staff.

    « Very good position »

A good hotel for all areas of NYC. Staff helpful and knowledgeable. View of ESB from our room, the higher the better. Very good bar opposite and good deli at the end of block. Our room was not large, but perfectly proportioned and very comfy beds.

We stayed at the this hotel last week and found it to be a very good hotel. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was also very good with plenty of choice. It is better to be high up if possible as street can be noisy with dustcarts early in the morning. The hotel was well situated for all amenities.

    « Family of 4 stay »

We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights with 2 teenage sons. The rooms are tight with 4 suitcases, but they are very clean and very comfortable. We stayed on the 4th floor facing the back of the hotel, could not hear any street noise at all, we slept well !!! Beds were comfortable, and rooms serviced daily. The included hot and cold breakfast was great, fresh, tasty, enough variety to get you going each day. Dry cleaner/washing across road was also very handy. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The location is perfect, walking distance to most tourist landmarks surrounding. Plenty of clothing shops including Macy's all within several blocks. Best restaurant was "Eataly" which is Italian and was about 10 blocks away where the food was amazing.

    « Adequate »

Visited for 5 nights in June; it was just 'fine'. Clean and well placed for first time visitors; in hindsight and for future trips I'll probably stay in Greenwich rather than Midtown. We were on the 11th floor, at the front of the hotel - fairly quiet for NYC and we certainly didn't hear noise from other rooms. Breakfast was ok, several options. We tended to have breakfast at 7.30 and the breakfast room was probably half full at this time. On one day we were a bit late and by 8.30am people were queuing for tables. Free tea, coffee and ice water in lobby was a nice touch. I'm a bit confused by the several reviews (by people who have submitted no other reviews to trip advisor) about the friendliness and helpfulness of staff. I'm afraid I found the complete opposite of this, the only exception being the housekeepers and cleaner at breakfast. The bar tender was extremely surly and the front of house staff were generally disinterested. In summary, it was 'just ok'.

    « Delightful stay »

Great staff, attentive, friendly, knowledgeable Good, satisfying breakfast offerings. Comfortable, clean room. Wish there was a small refrigerator in room. Lobby availability of coffee, tea, water, etc. was good summer-time amenity. Wish smoking was prohibited from front patio area. Smokers spoil the space for all others.

    « Fantastic »

A lovely hotel, very central location. Our room was on the 13th floor which offered amazing views of the streets below which the kids loved. The room was clean and comfortable, with much needed air con! We loved the ice machine in the hallway and the constant supply of tea and coffee. The room was tidied every day and the breakfasts provided a variety of food. We found the staff to be very helpful. Could not fault our stay!

    « location is perfect »

Arriving after travelling a long way we weren't greeted with the most warm of welcomes. However this may have only been how we felt because of our own tiredness as we got checked in without any problems. We were given a room on the 16th floor (of 17) and when we looked out of the window we discovered we were in the shadow of the inimitable empire state building. What a view that is! The room was clean and comfortable with easy to use air conditioning. The TV had so many channels all in HD near enough which provided plenty of entertainment after a long day of travelling around the city. The bathroom was nice and I personally enjoyed the different settings on the shower including rain, massage and jet. The room was cleaned thoroughly every day. The breakfast had a mixture of hot foods, cereals and pastries, I enjoyed the range of pastries as a novelty for breakfast! The food was always nice although we occasionally had to wait for a table to sit at. However, the staff working the breakfast were good at clearing the tables and guiding people to an available table quickly. We also enjoyed the bar/lounge at the back of the hotel, very relaxing to sit and have a few drinks. The location of this hotel is perfect for travelling around. It is in midtown and right next to the empire state building, and a 5 minute walk to times square. Also there are subway stations to all areas of manhattan nearby. We walked most of the days around but also used the subway comfortably enough. The hotel allowed us to store our luggage on the final day and reserved a taxi for us which was for more luxurious than the yellow taxi we came over in. (There is a flat fee for JFK to manhattan midtown which we paid 70 dollars including tolls and tip). The hotel served its purpose perfectly and we would definitely go back if we want to explore new york again.

I stay at this hotel when traveling to NYC as it is an excellent value (newer, well maintained, reasonably priced, and fantastic service) and in a convenient location in mid town NYC. In addition, the holel offers a full breakfast offering every morning, which is fantastic, especially in NYC. I highly recommend this hotel.

« A little gem of a hotel, great location, well equipped clean rooms, friendly helpful staff »

The Best Western Premier Herald Square, 50W 36 Street New York, is conveniently located in the Garment district of Manhattan. This hotel is the ideal base for exploring New York. The hotel is close to the major shop such as Macy's and easy access to all key attractions via the MTA Metro. Whilst the hotel does not have the best views from rooms, you have to remember this is a city hotel. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful. The rooms are a little on the small size however they are very clean with modern décor and comfortable beds and a large LCD TV. The bedroom is equipped with enough storage for your needs, full length mirror and plenty of charging points, nice pull out desk, as well as in room coffee and tea making machine and also an in room safe. The bathrooms continue the theme with modern clean décor. There is a large walk in shower, vanity unit with hand basin, mirror, hair dryer and WC. The hotel offers free breakfast and the standard an offering is amazing as it is free, there was always a good selection of fresh fruits, variety of breads and pastries, yoghurt, cereals and a section of hot food which changed daily. We were a party of six with two rooms, I would strongly recommend this hotel, the only down side we found during our three night stay was that the free WiFi internet access was down several times and the bar was closed on two evenings, Sunday and Monday over Memorial weekend and that may have been the reason. We will definitely be recommending this hotel to our friends.

This is a very nice hotel. Pricey, but not overly expensive by New York standards. The all-you-want complementary breakfast saves at least $30 per person per day. Convenient to all Midtown attractions.

« Great location, very small room »

We stayed 4 nights, our room had 2 Queen beds, the room was very small which made it difficult to move about with 3 of us in. The room was very dark, facing a building next door with no natural light coming in, and very noisy!! The breakfast room in the basement was very small and inconvenient, not enough tables for all guests, often had to queue and wait for a free table, completely chaotic! On the plus side, staff were really friendly, the location is ideal. A short walk from Macy's, Times Square, Broadway, 5th Avenue, the Empire State Building, several subway also not too far, superb location for sightseeing, if you want to take the cruise ship to Statue of Liberty, go to 42nd street and walk about 15mns to the pier. Penn Street station a few minutes walk from hotel, take the E blue line to World Trade Centre to see the memorial.

Hotel was very clean when you walked in, Staff very smart and welcoming, dealt with you very quickly, we arrived at 11am in the morning and was going to ask to leave our suitcase with them to go off site seeing, we were informed our room was ready a bonus. The room was very clean the only thing was I had not taken shower gel as most hotels i have stayed in have shower gel but BW don't supply shower gel only soap so if you don't do soap take shower gel, just a little niggle...

We visited New York from May 15th thru May 21st, we stayed on the 16th floor, we loved the room except for the bathroom. The sink was so small nowhere to set up your stuff, for a night it wouldn't have been bad but for 5 nights it's kind of a pain to have to pack and unpack because you don't have space on the sink for anything. The breakfast was ok but we didn't aways eat there, I'm very sensitive to flour and didn't want to get sick for a day of sightseeing and there wasn't very many options for carb free diet. Loved the location no matter which way we headed when we left the hotel we always found something to do. The subway was almost around the corner, we got a week pass and saved tons on transportation. I would definitely stay here again because of the location but we might go with a less expensive room, we weren't in the room much except to sleep, the view was nice thou but there's tons of place to see nice views in New York.

« WELCOMING HELPFUL STAFF LOVELY ROOM »

Stayed at the Best Western Premier in Herald Square between the 16th and 20th May, 2016 for my daughters 21st Birthday. Staff at reception were very welcoming and looked after us promtly and efficiently. Our room on the 9th floor was lovely, modern and had everything we needed. Iron/board, hairdryer coffee making facilities and a large flat screen TV. Also a free, easy to use safety deposit box. Breakfast is served between 6.30am and 9.30am which we used every day, and they also have two large TV's on one showing breakfast TV and the other on a childrens channel. The was a good selection of food, pastries/cereal/toast/yoghurt and three hot dishes which varied each day. Also juice/tea/and coffee. The reception helped my daughter connect her phone to the wifi which is also available in the rooms. They can also arrange a taxi for you and have a room to store your luggage if you are leaving later than the check out time. Out side of the hotel are rattan chairs and tables so you can have a coffee outside. The position of the hotel is in an excellent position, turn left out of the hotel and at the end of the road if you turn left is Macy's and a few other shops. If you turn right your only a ten minute walk away from Times Square. If you come out of the hotel and turn right you get to 5th Avenue and turning right and your 5 mins from the Empire State Building. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

    « Everything Brilliant »

My wife & I stayed here for 10 nights. Check-in was quick and we always found the front desk staff friendly & helpful if we had any questions. Our room (1005) was a decent size and the bathroom had a super shower. The room is situated at the back of the hotel, is lovely & quiet and has a great view of the top of the empire state building. Part of the reason we chose this hotel was that it is one of the few that offers breakfast. There are hot dishes available and these change every day. Everything was good quality, I absolutely loved the orange juice. The breakfast room staff work really hard to keep things topped up but always had time for a smile & a good morning. One area of the hotel we only tried late in our stay was the bar. Happy hour(s) meant that a glass of wine was cheaper than in nearby bars and restaurants. Other lovely touches were tea, coffee & water in the lobby, free wi-fi throughout the hotel and a computer/printer situated near the breakfast room for printing tickets, boarding passes etc. Location is excellent with one of the many entrances to 34th Street Herald Square subway station on the corner of 35th Street & 6th Avenue. Penn Station is only about a 10 minute walk away. If we ever return to New York we would definately stay at The Best Western Premier Herald Square again.

Really nice clean modern hotel with great breakfast and close to everything. We picked it because it was a few blocks from Penn Station and we were arriving by Amtrak. We were four per quite small room and managed well. Room was clean and we got extra blankets by asking. The best thing was the location, it's quite quiet side street. Macys, VS Empire State building, nice restaurants etc very near and Times square by walking distance. We didn't need to use subway at all. Breakfast was nice.

« Fantastic Place to Stay! »

We were very impressed by all aspects of this hotel in Mid-Town Manhattan. The facility was clean and well appointed, and the staff was outstanding, helpful and kind. Having the front and rear patio was great. The Bar and the Breakfast were managed well and very accommodating. This was a very pleasant experience for folks from a small town in Texas!

« nice hotel and good location »

Good Manhattan-hotel. Perfect location in mid-Manhattan and close to everything. And acceptable price in a very expensive stia like New York. The rooms are not large, but everything is in there. And everything is working...

    « Great hotel »

I stayed here with my teenaged daughter while visiting NYC. It is just a couple of blocks from the 34th St Herald Square subway and bus stops. They include free breakfast and wifi, which is always nice. The room was nice with everything we needed. No refrigerator or microwave. There is a nice little fresh market/cafe a few steps away. Within walking distance of the Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building, Broadway Theaters and Times Square. They have a very small street front so it is easy to miss if you aren't looking for it, but not at all hard to find. Loved that we were central to everything in Manhatten.

« Hotel in Midtown New York »

As usual the hotels in New York are overpriced but I did get good service, good food for breakfast and the hotel staff were very nice. This hotel is about six blocks from Time Square and three blocks from the Largest Macys Department Store. The rooms are small but who stays in the room?

« Brilliant, Friendly and Convenient! »

Good location to Empire State, Macy's and Times Square! ! ! Staff are so friendly and happy to help with any request :-) And is always kept clean with fresh towels daily ! And the beds are so comfy! Would definitely come and stay again 110% if coming to NYC again and would recommend !

« Excellent location, clean room, great staff--highly recommend. »

The location was central to all the places we wanted to see and it didn't take long to find our way around. We walked to most of our destinations. The room had plenty of space for two people, was clean, and the housekeeping service was great. The front desk staff members were exceptional, providing helpful tips and recommendations. The hot breakfast was a little different each morning--a welcomed variety over the 6 days of our stay. We recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

    « Would recommend »

Nothing bad about this place. Friendly staff, held our bags before check in, big free breakfast. Clean rooms and maids did a good job each day. Small rooms but that's just New York. Room with a view has a big window facing the street. Nothing crazy amazing but it's cool.

« A bit pricy, small rooms, GREAT LOCATION »

I stayed here May 2016, great location. The staff has great customer service, but rooms are very small. It is very close to all amenities and shopping. You can walk anywhere, not far at all and I hate walking. Restaurants and deli next door to get anything you need. Train station is close, The breakfast is not that good....below average but I guess it will do until you get on the road. Did not try any other food there. Although rooms small very clean only good for 2 people and is still a tight squeeze with luggage.

« Best Western Premier Herald Square is best !!!! »

Spent 3 nights at BW Premier Herald Square. Location was excellent. We were able to walk everywhere and also use the train. Hotel located near all methods of transportation. Room was fantastic and morning breakfast was great to get your day rolling. Staff and amenities were exceptional with no complaints. Will definitely stay here again on our next trip

    « GREAT LOCATION »

This is a great location to get anywhere in the city. Lots of food options close by. Easy access to subways. The staff were very helpful with directions and information. The lounge was intimate and friendly. Great for a starter cocktail before an evening out. Lots of shopping close by if anything was forgotten or needed.

« Nice little hotel in the Garment District »

I recently stayed at this hotel in Manhattan. The rooms were a bit on the small side, which was expected, but very well appointed at a reasonable rate for New York. A great shower and a very comfortable bed were greatly appreciated. There is a small patio out front where you can just sit and people watch as New Yorkers go about their daily business that catches the early morning sun. A breakfast buffet is provided daily that had a good selection of breads, buns, oatmeal, yogurt as well as bacon or sausage and eggs or pancakes. I can't fail to mention the little bar that is hidden in the back of the hotel. It is open from 3:00 to about 11:30 p.m. every day with happy hour specials from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. And what can I say about the bartender, Steve! What an excellent bartender! Personable, great knowledge of mixed drinks, and also a wonderful advisor about things to do and places to go in New York. The other bartender who worked there was a very nice person, who served my girlfriend and I quite well but I felt she was not quite as tuned in to customer service as Steve. My girlfriend and I returned from a long day of exploring New York about 3:10 one day. We looked forward to going to the bar and relaxing with a glass of wine and much to our surprise, the bar wasn't yet open. We returned about 3:45 and went in for a drink , the bar was open by then but you could tell she hadn't quite finished her set up---luggage rack still in the middle of the bar, no flowers on the table yet. Apart from this little hiccup, it's a really good hotel to stay in. It's well located between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas on West 36th making it easy to shop on Fifth Avenue or to go see a play on Broadway or walk down to Greenwich Village. I would definitely stay there again!

« Good value at a great location »

Finding a nice hotel under $300 in center city New York is a challenge. This hotel is nicely appointed with comfortable beds, clean and quiet. It's one block from the Herald Square subway complex and an easy walk to the theatre district. The rooms are small but so is the furniture. The shower is a walk-in, glass enclosed stall and top notch. If you travel light, you will have no problem storing and maneuvering your stuff. Good luck if you have two large suitcases. Our only complaint - the WiFi did not work well in our room with our iPhones. It was fine in the lobby and breakfast room. The breakfast is better than most among the large chain hotels, and the breakfast room is large and comfortable.

    3
    « Midtown hotel near Macy's »

Located a short walk from Macy's this is an affordable midtown choice that's not in the middle of everything. There are tables outside the hotel that are often occupied by smokers which means you're often assaulted by the smell of cigarette smoke on the way in. The lobby is small but clean with dispensers of fruit infused water offering a nice touch. Now please note that hotel rooms everywhere in NYC are small. If you've not stayed in a big city before, this is something you're going to have to accept. Space is at a premium everywhere and that includes hotel rooms, so don't expect tons of space to sprawl out or much closet space. We had a room with one king bed and while the room wasn't tiny, it wasn't well designed. The space between the edge of the bed and the entertainment center was barely enough to roll your luggage past. Two people can't walk through it, you need to make room for each other. Another issue was in the bathroom where the door opens right at the sink, so if you want to stand at the sink, you need to have the bathroom door shut otherwise you're in for a tight squeeze. Finally, while it said we had a king size bed, it didn't seem like it. We have a king bed at home and my feet don't go to the edge whereas they did here. It was strange. The room itself was clean and the decor modern. The bed was comfortable. There was a good sized walk in shower with a good shower head. There's little closet space. Our room overlooked the street, not an exciting view although better than I've had in other hotels where you're basically looking right into another part of the building. Soundproofing left something to be desired, both with other rooms and with the street. Thankfully, I brought earplugs so waking up in the middle of the first night there to the sound of what was probably trash collectors, I popped them in and slept well the rest of the stay. Breakfast was included with a breakfast room in the basement. There were a good number of choices including eggs, rotating meat selection, pancakes, breads, sweets, yogurt, and fruit. The breakfast room could get crowded at times and we ended up bringing it up to the room one day as we couldn't find a spot. The basement also had a small excercise room that was ok.

Great location for this hotel right in the middle of it all. Close to Times Square (about 6 blocks) Very close to Herald Square (about 1/2 block) Close to Empire State Bldg. Also parking garages on same block as hotel. Small building tucked into the middle of the block with onsite lounge, clean upgraded rooms and good price for the area. Very happy with my stay here.

« Great location, decent value (not very good elevator!) »

We stayed here for three nights and it was an ideal base for sightseeing around Manhattan. We felt as though we were close to everything we wanted to see and it was handy to be able to pop back to the hotel during the day if needed. The staff were efficient and helpful and there were no problems during our stay. The room was a bit on the small side but absolutely fine for what we needed: a comfortable and convenient base for exploring the city. Breakfast was included and was quite good (hot and cold buffet) but we'd recommend getting down there early as on our last morning we went down towards the end of the serving and had to queue at the buffet and for a table. Speaking of waiting, the hotel is underserved by elevators and almost every time we needed to use one, there was a wait, sometimes for a decent length. But that wouldn't stop us going back.

    4
    « Comfortable hotel »

Good location and comfortable rooms which are small but adequate. Breakfast ok but can get busy. Free tea and coffee in reception is a great touch. There are sixteen floors with 6 Rooms on each floor. I would ask for a room furthest from the elevator as the noise can be intrusive. The king room has a great comfortable bed and plenty of storage space and also has a free safe for your valuables. No bath but a great large and powerful shower. Would definitely consider staying here again.

« Great location and price for New York »

The hotel staff and location were good for price. There was easy access to the subway and walking distance to other points of interest. Shameza, Bebe and Salman at front desk made us feel welcomed and had good recommendations for restaurants, transportation and sightseeing. Only negative would be small rooms for two beds.

    « Centrally Located + Great Service »

    « New York City »

We stayed at this Hotel for 4 nights, it is right in the heart of the city. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, the breakfast was very good and it was nice to have free wifi when you are travelling from out of country. The only problem I had was when I booked the hotel, I wanted to have a roll away bed and from what I saw online they had them and I was allowed to request one but when I got there they said that they didn't have roll away beds. This could have been a big problem but it end up working out. The rooms in New York, at least downtown, are very small and there were 4 of us so we had to be strategic where we put things.

« Excellent place to stay »

I stayed here with my daughter for 2 nights on a mother- daughter trip to shop for her upcoming wedding. Before arriving, I encountered a situation with the central BW phone staff. A lower price was posted the night before than what I had booked the room for. When I arrived, the front office manager , Jay, was well informed of my request to honor the lower price and he did. I did not even have to ask, but Jay courteously informed me he would honor the new lower price. I was delighted. From the moment we arrived, the entire hotel staff was extremely friendly and always greeted us with a smile. The bellhop was polite, well mannered and the staff members behind the desk were very nice. The lobby was clean, neat and offered complimentary coffee and water 24/7. Our room was very clean, bedding was comfortable and the hall was quiet. A great complimentary breakfast with hot and cold items was available. Items changed each day . There was always plenty of seating , kitchen staff refilled items continually and the area was always clean. I would highly recommend this hotel. The location is fantastic, close to shopping and the train. I definitely will return.

Great job Bebe, Erika and Debbie ! If you are visiting with family this is great value for your $$. Free breakfast, Wifi and Coffee. Front desk staff are friendly. « Great staff, pleasant stay »

The Best Western Premier is for the most part a comfortable place to stay. The area outside is noisy; lots of construction nearby at the time I'm writing this, and lots of trucks on the street at night (and I was on the 7th floor). The room, however, was a decent size for Manhattan, and kept clean and comfortable. Every staff person I interacted with was really nice, and helpful when I needed anything. The folks at the front desk helped with a few requests, and the breakfast and housekeeping staff were really nice too. The breakfast leaves something to be desired (e.g. dried-out, lukewarm eggs) but that's unfortunately just par for the course for American chain hotels.

« Second time staying here: still great. »

This hotel is modern, clean, and well appointed. It is in a great location, the rooms and especially the beds are very comfortable, the staff is friendly...it is an amazing find in the price range. The first time I stayed here was not long after it first opened, it was great then, and the standards have not dropped. I am particularly impressed with the housekeeping and cleanliness of the place. If you go at the wrong time the breakfast room can get a bit crowded and you may have to take your plate to the bar upstairs. Not a big deal. This hotel is wonderful find and I definitely recommend it.

    « Dangerous and loud »

For a hotel recently renovated the walls are paper thin. You could not only hear the next room over you could follow their conversation. Another issue was the lamp in the room had a damaged electrical cord that was repaired with scotch tape...a huge fire and life safety hazard. The facilities are clean enough and the staff cordial. I often stay at best western this was my first time at this location and now my last.

« Outstanding Service and Very Clean »

Hotels in New York are not spacious and roomy as you'd find somewhere else outside of the city or in a Caribbean resort. Nevertheless, I did not mind the size of my room because I lived and worked in NYC for over 8 years. The room had everything I needed; and, most importantly, I didn't pay attention to the size of my room! The service was what made the difference. From a warm welcome from Bebe at the Reception Desk, to a very clean room (sorry didn't catch the housekeeper's name); and, a fantastic job by Ryan in Bell Services, I absolutely loved the experience I had in this cozy and classy hotel. Congratulations to the management of the property. This really is a PREMIER hotel.

    « Fantastic stay »

Awesome stay- great location to Empire State Building, Macy,s and Broadway. Although the rooms were small ( which is expected in New York ) they had all the amenities one would want. Beds were great and spare pillows available. Breakfast was a basic selection on hot and cold items, which was well stocked and topped up constantly. All staff were so friendly and helpful from the breakfast staff to the front desk- they couldn't have assisted us anymore.A coffee, tea and hot chocolate station is available 24 hours in the lobby which was a bonus ! Spotless rooms! Loved my stay!

This hotel and the staff exceeded my expectation. We were surprised how quiet it was at night. The place was very clean with a nice sized bathroom and the bed was very comfortable. I will not need to even check around on a return trip, this is where I'll stay. I'll also be recommending it to all my friends.

« Brilliant Hotel with very helpful staff in a great location »

This hotel is in a great location within easy walking of The Empire State Building, Rockafella Centre,Times Square& Broadway shows to name just a few. Probably best to get the bus to visit 9/11 memorial, Wall Street & to get the boat to Statue of Liberty. The room was clean and large enough for us with a great view of The Empire State building. Ryan was so helpful with advise of how to get around as were Bebe & Shameza on the front desk. The breakfast was lovely with lots of variety including Fruit Juices, Porridge, Toast, Cooked, pastries to name a few of which Erica ran with a friendly and efficient manner. We would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely go back to on another visit to New York.

Awesome location, close to everything ! The location can't be beat. Hotel was clean, service staff very courteous and helpful. We got to stay on the 17th floor with a great view of the Empire state building. The hotel manager was extremely helpful, he even offered his parking spot for free, saving us a bunch of money. The breakfast bar was great too, the staff often checked on us and made us feel welcome. I would highly recommend this hotel. It will deliver beyond your expectations. We definitely plan to be back next time we are visit NY.

« Great Location and clean hotel »

This is NY so the rooms are very clean and are small, but when you are touring NY, you do not sit in your room, do you? The hotel is very close to Macy's and the Train Station. It is really not a long walk to Times Square and there are great restaurants along the way. Downstairs the hotel has a nice lounge with outdoor seating in the back "courtyard" of the hotel. It is a nice little hideaway from the city for a nice time with friends or for a drink. The service is great, they have a nice included breakfast with a nice area to sit and eat. Parking garages, there are two very close. The one on the same side of the street does validate and it does save a couple of bucks if you came in by car.

« Excellent hotel in Manhattan »

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at the Best Western Herald Square. It was located close to many attractions, but not on a main street, so there was no noise pollution at night. Rooms are small, but I was expecting much smaller for New York hotels! We were only needing a place to rest at night, so we did not mind the small rooms at all! It was nice to come back after a long day to a comfortable room & bed. The breakfast was a nice treat as well. We did not have high expectations for the breakfast, perhaps just some bread & coffee, but were surprised by the diverse spread served each day. However, seating is limited in the dining area, so either go early or later in the morning!

« So want to go back!!! »

When other reviewers spoke of how great this place was I was impressed, but now that I have stayed here - IT IS ALL TRUE. From checking in to checking out every service and person was more then promised. The rooms are small but so are all rooms in NYC but this property is so so so clean and everyone so helpful. Breakfast is great and clean room, the bar / lounge is great though small its cozy and great. So look to coming back.

« Excellence at its finest! »

Beautiful, clean, close to time square, nyc library, and many other attractions. Best part of the hotel besides the continental breakfast is the bar! Excellent drink prices, and the bar tender is the best in the city. Thanks Steven for helping us integrate to the big city! A++++ service. The hotel is situated right outside the most busy areas, so it's nice to walk out and slowly be on your way, with options of avoiding the big crowds. The maid service was good, organizing things for me in a cleanly manner (never had that done before and really appreciated it). Would love to stay at this location again.

« Mixed Bag: Good Location, Nice Room, Sub-Par Breakfast and Public Spaces »

We recently stayed here and thought it was only okay, not great. The mid-block location (away from heavy traffic competing with pedestrians crossing at the corner) was relatively quiet for New York. From the street, the hotel wasn't very welcoming, with a cramped patio, tables, and chairs out front, a narrow entry into the hotel, a small lobby given the number of guests coming and going, and (on the up side) efficient but (on the down side) somewhat brusque front desk help. The room we had (1601) was very good and quiet, with a comfortable bed, stylish furnishings, a small but okay bathroom, and a view of sorts (see photos). Also, the room was clean and in very good shape. In contrast, breakfast in a drab basement room had limited options (no yogurt, for example) and definitely wasn't as gourmet as at other Best Western properties where we've stayed in the past. All in all, this was a mixed bag -- okay for maybe a night in a central location, but not worth the fairly high price charged, given the uneven quality.

    « Great breakfast! »

Small room, we had a double bed room and it worked but there was not that much extra space. The room had a good size bathroom, it did take a while for the water to heat up. The hot breakfasts were great! There was eggs, meat, oatmeal and more.

« Great staff. Good location walkable from Times Square »

Our family of 4 spent 4 nights at the hotel. The hotel is very clean and comfortable and an easy walk of about 10 short, not long, blocks to TImes Square. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The hotel provides a free breakfast with a few hot times each day, which is a deal for NYC. We felt totally safe at night, but we were always in by 11 p.m. or so. There are a few stores a few doors down from the hotel to get water, food, etc. There is a large Macy's and other businesses close by. The rooms in NYC hotels are small and this one was no exception. There were four of us and we were "on top of each other," but made it work. We were only there to sleep and shower and were out the rest of the time, so if your plan is to do the same thing, I think the room would work fine. The only negative is that the wifi did not work in the room, which didn't bother me, but was a bummer for my kids.

« Great value for money, perfect location »

I lived in NYC for several years and have also stayed at a few fancier hotels in the city. I know how difficult it is to find a hotel that is conveniently located, has all the basic amenities, is clean and modern, is affordable. I needed a room to share with 2 of my sisters. We booked a standard room with 2 double beds for 3 nights, and our stay exceeded our expectations. We have stayed at some more expensive hotels in the city that were truly disappointing, and at similarly priced ones that were not as good a value. The rooms are small, as most NY hotel rooms are, but they are clean, the beds and pillows are comfortable, linens are clean. The bathroom is small but clean and the shower is great. Breakfast was hot, and the variety exceeded expectations as well (I thought this was going to be a bread/bagels and some spreads + coffee kind of deal, but they served hot eggs and breakfast meats, an assortment of breads, oatmeal, fruit along with coffee/tea/milk/juice). The hotel is just around the block from Herald Square so convenient for walking around and taking the subway or bus. It is in close proximity to some wonderful restaurants (Keen's Steakhouse is a must) and great shopping, and just a few blocks from Bryant Park (where there is a Breads Bakery kiosk that serves the best babka in the city). If you have a lot of luggage, it may be a tight fit. We had 3 carry-on sized bags and 1 standard check-in sized bag among the 3 of us and it took some maneuvering to find a place for everything, but we managed. The room is probably more suited to 2 people than 3 or 4 (unless they are small children) but they did maximize the use of space. The location is noisy, but all of New York City is, and it didn't really bother me. In fact, I slept extremely well. The staff was wonderful - friendly and helpful. My one complaint is the "free internet" to which I never could connect. I didn't report the problem, opting to use my phone instead, but none of my sisters could connect either, and I felt somewhat cheated by the promise of free internet that didn't work. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay and would book a room here again. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a clean and affordable place to stay in the city. However, if an internet connection is a must, speak to the front desk beforehand just to make sure it really is working.

We had a great stay! Rooms are small but very clean and you can't get a better location to do all of Manhattan! Free breakfast was good and a great way to start your day of sight seeing! Big thanks to Erica in the breakfast room for good food and her great efficiency getting people in and out!

« Good hotel, great location »

Usual size room for New York. Clean etc. Very happy. Might have preferred a room on a higher floor for views, but not available. Room facing main street - enjoyed watching what was going on. Tea and coffee available at reception plus coffee in room, and ice on a couple of floors. No shower gel - surprising!

    « Very nice service »

Was a guest from March 9th to 12th. Enjoyed my visit. Stayed on the 17 th floor. The rooms were very clean although rather small. The best part of it was the food- very tasty. Special thanks to Erika for keeping the dining room orderly and neat. Hope to be back.

« Great deal in the heart of Manhattan »

Small new hotel close to Herald Square and subway station in 34th street, between Penn Station and Grand Central, close to Broadway and Times Square but far enough to avoid the crowd and noise. Good restaurants in the neighborhood (like Le petit poulet) and many shops and services. Nice staff, clean and quiet rooms, the breakfast room is not large and the choice of meals is just fine. I will come back in my forthcoming visits to New York.

« Perfect location for Broadway & Madison Square Garden »

This hotel is in a perfect location for shows on Broadway or Events at Madison Square Garden. We did both on our visit. The hotel in Herald Square is easy walking to Times Square, Macy's etc. We had a beautiful room on the 17th floor facing the street. I noticed on the fire safety map that there were 5 rooms on the floor. Two face the street and the other 3 long narrow smaller rooms are in the back of the hotel. It is in the garment district. The buildings are not wide. As I mentioned 2 rooms across. There windows went from floor to ceiling on an angle. Reminded me of the Luxor in Vegas. We had a king size bed which took up half of the room. It face the window, which was really awesome. The bathroom was comfortable in size given the size of the room. Everything in the room and bath area was new and updated. If you are looking for a spacious room, you may want to look elsewhere, but you may not find spacious in the city in this price range. It was the perfect size for our 3 day stay as we had lots to do and see and only slept in the room after our long, exciting, fun days. The bed was exceedingly comfortable. The breakfast area is in the level below the lobby. It was spacious with about 20 tables that could sit about 4 each. The selection was better than most places and the staff was very attentive, replenishing items all the way till the end of breakfast hours. There is a bar on the lobby level. We really enjoyed our stay and would most definitely return. I would request a front/street facing room because we enjoyed our view of the city.

    « Small room. »

Traveled with family and stayed in four different hotels and by all means the room here was the smallest. FD agent was good and the ladies at the breakfast area are the best. They were attentive and courteous hi-5 to them. Will consider other properties in the future due to parking ( which was expensive) and the size of room.

    « Best hotel @36 street »

Stay for more than a month, out class hotel, best breakfast service, friendly staff. Jay, Salman, Bebe and all other staff are very cooperative. Rate 9/10. Best location near to subway and Pen station.

« Best value NYC accommodaton »

Myself & my husband stayed at the BW Premier Herald Square for 4 nights & couldn't be happier with our experience. The front desk staff were always friendly & cheerful & would always happily answer questions/queries or directions. The location is brilliant, 2 mins to Empire State & Macey's and 10 mins (if that) to Times Square. With regards to rooms unless you have a palatial bedroom at home the rooms were reasonably sized & free Wifi was a bonus. We found breakfast nice & plentiful. My husband enjoyed the pastries! For the price we paid we were over the moon. I am a travel agent at home & know how expensive NYC hotels can be. This was brilliant value! If we return to NYC we will definitely be back!!

« Great Place To Stay »

Stayed here this past weekend and the place was great. Got there at 11am and was able to get into my room even though check in time was 3pm. Room was nice and clean. Met a friend there who frequents NYC and he said the room was pretty big compared to places he has stayed. The free breakfast was a great added bonus.

    « SPOT ON »

Very practical with excellent staff. Clean and tidy and in an ideal location for sight seeing. Breakfast is simple but enough choice. No need to push in British plenty for everyone Highly recommended.

    « Good location »

Small room, but hey it's NYC. Good location close to 34th street and 42nd street. Staff was friendly. The breakfast was above average. Halls are a little dark but it's all about location. Ice machine was not on every floor. No built in closet, more of a wardrobe in the corner. Double bed room very little extra spacing.

« Nice hotel, great location »

Clean and nice hotel. Room was quite small but beds were very nice. View from the window was nice (to the street and NY city). Free coffee and tea available. Breakfast wasn't so versatile but quite ok. The location was very good, metro stop near to the hotel, also some sightseeing places. Service in the lobby was good.

« Great location and value of money. »

The hotel is in a great location near Times Square, Macys and other shopping streets but yet it's quiet at night. Hotelstaff were superfriendly and helpful. The room itself were up to date, modern with all facilities. Bathroom with a good sized shower. All clean and no remarks. Breakfast was suprisingly ok for being in a smaller hotell in the US. Bagels, toast, croissants, yoghurt, cereals, pancakes etc. Coffee tasted good aswell! Only remark here is that there wasn't a single vegetable, could be great with just some tomatoes and cucumber. What you get is what you see with this hotel and I would recommend it to couples and friends traveling.

« really can't complain at the price »

Everything you could want for a short stay in New York. Great location, really friendly staff and modern rooms with funky NY pictures, comfy bed with good linens and a decent shower. Breakfast included and was really good, nice gym and a bar. Yes the room is small (King) and would be a bit squashed for 2, but I was here alone. My safe didn't work but it was replaced within 10 mins. Downsides: the lift is noisy making clunking noises and beeping at each floor. As this is a tiny hotel the rooms are all around it. Vending machines not working. When I returned to my room at 4.30 the maid still had not been.

« Always an excellent hotel to stay at in Midtown NYC »

The Best Western Premier is the only hotel that I stay at while traveling to NYC on business or for pleasure. The hotel is newer, well maintained, offers a decent breakfast in the morning, and has an excellent staff that provides great service. Jay, the Front Desk Manager, is fantastic and pays attention to detail! Erica provides excellent service during morning breakfasts.

    « Great Location & Excellent Service! »

A very kind staff, which will make an effort to provide an excellent service. Great location, near a central subway station. Not a fancy breakfast but surprising. Free coffee & Tea in Lobby. The room (we took the double bed) is too small, but this is the only minus that I've found. It was my second time in this hotel and probably I'll be back for third time.

    5
    « Excellent hotel! »

The hotel has convenient location. Staff is very professional and helpful. Quality of good breakfast was good. Lobby and rooms and clean and convenient. Overall, very good value for the money. Highly recommended.

    « "Cute & Convenient" »

Great location. Walk within minutes to everything, Time Square, MSG, Penn Station, Bus Depot. Nice Burger joint at the corner 6th and W 36th. Rooms are small, cozy and clean. Great for just a couple of days. small entryway but its a hidden jewel!!! Great staff, very helpful. Only negative comment is I'm not a morning person but the guest door next to mine kept slamming shut all morning.

    5
« Brilliant stay in New York »

I completely agree with the many previous complimentary reviews about this hotel. Fantastic location - walkable to many key NY sights, plenty of places to eat within a couple of blocks. The Keg just across the road offers great food a lively atmosphere especially for sports lovers - plenty of screens with up to date basketball, football, soccer etc. Whilst a small hotel, the staff made our stay very comfortable - public areas and rooms kept very clean, good selection at breakfast with the lovely Erica and her team as well as very helpful and pleasant staff on front desk. I would definitely stay here again. The only downside is the plastic plates and cutlery at breakfast - not very environmentally friendly.

    5
    « 10 days in New York »

What else to expect if you get a room in boutique hotel in the heart of Manhattan? Except of very small room and poor selection of products during breakfast (if you live there for 10 nights) the location is perfect! That's the best added value. Big plus for an ice machine located on the 13th floor, friendly staff, bar with a small terrace and Empire State view.

    5
« Small, clean, modern with helpful staff »

Hotel was a great value. The price was affordable and good compared to similar grade hotels in the area. It offered additional value by including breakfast and wifi internet in the room price. The room was small but clean and modern. The floor-to-ceiling window was a nice feature for me since I liked to look out and absorb the city ambiance. The staff were all helpful. The front check-in staff found us a room that fulfilled our preferences and also provided suggestions for local businesses. The staff in the breakfast cafeteria went out of their way to satisfy us including juggling some items in the breakfast line-up to be available during our stay. Would definitely recommend for travelers looking for a clean, modest room that are there to see the sights.

« Our Westminster Stay in New York »

We enjoyed our stay very clean and great staff the rate was very good for the location close to good restaurants and lots of sights to see within walking distance. The breakfast was a okay and every morning the staff were helpful and fun to converse with. When we asked for help with directions or whatever we always received as much help as possible

    « New York Travels »

We have stayed at many hotels in New York and this one, while still small, was larger than most. One room and one bed is all you are going to get in New York and you dont spend much time in the room to begin with so its not as big of a deal as you may think - the bathroom was really nice and they cleaned everyday. If you get a handicap bathroom make sure you request extra towls as the curved shower curtain bar allows for a lot of the water that splashes on the curtain to fall outside the shower draining area. And the second dowfall would be that if you are not comfortable to go #2 infront of whoever you are staying with, there are no exhaust fans in the bathrooms.

    « Leisure »

I was very pleased to find a Best Western hotel near where my son and daughter-in-law ahve an apartment on Manhattan in New York Xity. I stayed in a well located smallish, but very nicely furnished room like many in European cities, in one of the most expensive of US cities for lodging. It was a "highjudge for the money" experience.

« Great plcae to stay!! »

This hotel was really very good. The staff were are very helpful and informative. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. We were here for a hockey game and touring New York. If you are coming as a group and you go to the Keg Room across the street, they will not do separate cheques. Too bad because the food and service was really good otherwise. We all had a lot of fun and everyone enjoyed to hotel. The breakfast was better than usual. It was included with our stay. The location of the hotel was great. 10 mins from Time Square etc, etc, etc. Lots to do and see. Cabs were plentiful and speedy.

« Great girls only weekend!!! »

My friend and myself spent 3-nights at the Best Western Premier Herald Square this month. From start to finish, the hotel was great. We requested a room in a quiet floor which was honored. Room was tastefully done and bathroom updated. Provided breakfast was delicious and hotel staff eager to please. Hotel staff members BeBe and Ryan helped us with taxis, area highlights, directions, etc. We will certainly return to the Big Apple and stay there.

    « Excellent Base »

Really enjoyed our week at this hotel. Check in was efficient and the lady on reception was extremely helpful when we need to change one of the rooms booked to a room with two beds as opposed to one bed.! Rooms are quite small, but I've stayed in smaller in Amsterdam and really it is just a place to sleep so no complaints there. Everything was very clean and we had a great view of the Empire State Building. The bathroom was also small but adequate for our needs and the toiletries were replaced every day. The shower was nice and large and falrly powerful - I have no complaints there. The tea/coffee items in rooms were also stocked up every day. The general appearance of hotel was clean and the restaurant for breakfast was kept very clean - I'm not sure of the environmental damage this hotel does with its plastic plates/utensils but that's their issue. The orange juice was probably one of the nicest I've had in hotels where OJ is included as it is usually just hideously sweet concentrated rubbish, but this was great. My only issues with this hotel were : Maintenance man - we had a problem with the safe and were told when we reported it at 7.50pm that someone would be up in "5 minutes" luckily we did not hold our breath as he turned up at 11.10pm when we were in bed - when we didn't answer he phoned the room and we told him to come back the following day. We rang at 7.30am the next morning and someone was there within 5 minutes so why this was not done the night before I cannot understand and I did not appreciate being called at 11.10pm - not exceptionally late but when you are on a time difference of 5 hours behind Ireland - it made a difference!! My other issue was the lifts! On the second morning one was not working and it was a long wait to get a lift that was not full. On my last day - we had to wait 20 minutes because again only one was working and the other was full of the maid's trolleys so we could not get in - if it wasn't for the fact I was on 16th floor with suitcases I would have walked down. I can appreciate the maid need their trolleys on each floor, but they should really put one trolley in at a time so guests can still get in - two trolleys when 1 lift is already out of service is ridiculous. I would however have no problems recommending this hotel and would definitely stay again. It's well located and has no bed bugs - which can be a worry in NY at even the best hotels!

« Great affordable and central stay in NYC »

Stayed here for a weekend and found it to be a very well located and affordable base for a weekend in NYC. The rooms are newly decorated, clean and well equipped with tea & coffee facilities, iPod charger alarm clock, bathroom toiletries and prettily displayed towels, was very impressed. Excellent and kind reception team. Downside would be the thin walls which made sleeping through jet lag a challenge - easily sorted with some earplugs!

« My Stat at Best Western Premier Herald Square »

As someone who does not sleep well, I was concerned the noise of the city would keep me up all night. The room they provided was one of the quietest I have ever experienced staying in a big city like NYC. I needed a quiet room, a comfortable bed, a clean/working bathroom, no crazies in the next room, a working TV, and a convenient location to attend several meetings. This hotel provided it all at a very affordable price.

« Big City Hotel with Friendly Midwestern Attitude »

Stayed 1/29/2016. My niece and I were in town for a short theater (Hamilton!) stay. I had booked this hotel on the Southwest site when I booked the flights. My requirements are: Safety, Cleanliness, Location, Economy, and 2 bed option. Free breakfast and wifi are nice, but not essential. Best Western Herald Square scored 5 stars on all my criteria, even the "nice but not essential". GM Mustafa and Houseman Ryan were extremely helpful and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. Room was updated, very clean and comfortable with modern roomy bathroom and wonderful shower. A great find......we will be back!

Check in was a breeze, Bebe assisted me with my check in and offered me discounted parking on the same block. My room was very clean, bed was extremely comfortable, and the bathroom was a good size for our stay. Temperature in the room was perfect. Not much of a view but we only used it to sleep. Breakfast was fresh, hot and the dining room was clean and the staff was very friendly. I strongly recoommend this Hotel. Great find.

« Great location, smart rooms »

We were delayed due to the snowstorm but it was no problem for the hotel to change our dates. Location near to subways, Empire State, Times Square, and a short walk to Central Park. Area between 5th and 6th felt safe and nice restaurants and bars are nearby. Breakfast was fine with 3 hot items, cereal, toast, bagels, pastries, yogurts, tea, coffee and juices. Staff were very helpful. Bed was a bit small but I booked a room with 2 doubles so no.problem for us. Good wifi. Good shower in a clean bathroom. Would return.

« My best choice in town »

This hotel is my 1st choice when the price is not too high. Located in midtown, close to the famous 5th Av, you can easily walk to central park, Times Square or to downtown to Chelsea Market. The rooms are big enough, big bathroom. The hotel is not too noisy and the staff very friendly.

    « GREAT VALUE »

This hotel is an astounding value in mid-town Manhattan. The room was very clean, and the bathroom recently redone, very nicely. The location was extremely convenient, many restaurants close by, walkable distance to theaters and several subway lines. Also, the free breakfast was good.

« Best Hotel + Excellent Location = Best Western Premier! »

Well, aside from the snow storm that hit New York City, we had made reservations way in advance (as you should when you want to enjoy a weekend in Manhattan) and we were not disappointed with the service received at Best Western! You get a nice breakfast and the staff is very friendly and helpful. This is our second time staying at this hotel and we're looking forward to staying there again!

    « 5 star location & staff »

Had the pleasure of staying here. Get hot breakfast buffet, free WiFi and location couldn't be better. Room was a little small, but not by Motown Manhattan standards. Price could not be beat for everything included. The staff was top rate. Jay, Front office manager, must have a room in the back. Always there and took care of everything, even when I was sick. I highly recommend. Housekeeping staff very good and friendly. Even brought me water when sick. Close to subway and attractions. Nice happy hour .

« Great clean place close to everything »

This hotel is close to everything, including the subway. It is very quiet. I found it to be very clean and the decor very nice in my room. The employees were extremely friendly and offered assistance with the subway routes, restaurants and weather reports!! Particularly Jay and Bebe. I would have been lost without them! The next time I am in NYC this will be the place that I stay.

Lovely Hotel, Perfect location between 5th 6th Ave on 36th Street. Our room was very Tiny, however still very lovely. My room had a view of the ESB. Breakfast very good, loads to choose from. The hotel does have free Tea & Coffee in the Reception area for you. Even though you do have Tea & Coffee in your room, its nice to walk into Reception and its there for you. Do recommend this Hotel. I found check inn was very quick and efficient. Also check out was the same. Lovely little Paradise.

« In the heart of NYC »

The hotel is within walking distance of Times Square and the Theater district. Also, right around the corner from great shopping, with Macy's and JC Penney. Last, there is a great pub across the street called the Keg Room, that was a great place to watch the various football games, including the patriots. We had a selection of appetizers and shared a dessert, which was good and we were not rushed.

« Great Price, Amazing location, and awesome service! »

« If you are tall or a large person beds too small! »

To be honest we were disappointed with this hotel - mainly due to room size and the bed sizes! Not many people have mentioned the bed size but it was a big no from us. However lets get the positives out of the way first! Location - couldn't fault it - From JFK we got the Air train and then LIRR from Jamaica to Penn St then it was an easy 10 min walk to the hotel. Easy enough to do with luggage on way back too and LIRR takes 20 mins - $25 each return which included the air train ticket. Trains leave every 10 mins from Penn. Checkin - easy enough though they won't recognise your status if you book through an agent ( I got Diamond as I'm a platinum with IHG- they do a like for like). So no room upgrade etc. Check out is 11am but got it extended to 1.30pm. Rooms- we were facing out the back - quiet but no view. The first thing you notice is they are very small - understand this is a Manhattan thing but there was 3 of us and we felt cramped. The room was nice though and clean but hardly any storage space for us all. The main problem for us though was the beds (and this is the most important feature of a hotel room!) we had 2 very small doubles and I mean small- I am 5 ft 5 and my feet dangled over the end - you can imagine poor hubby at 6ft 2 had cold feet during our stay! We are all average or small build - if you are a bigger person this is not the hotel for you! The bedding was annoying - a sheet and very thin duvet - kept having to get up in night and sort it all. Pillows felt cheap and I woke every morning with a pain in my neck. Breakfast- it's ok - cheap and cheerful but set us up for the day. Cereals, pastries, 3 hot items, yogurts and fruit. Also coffee station in lobby and a small coffee maker in the room. Small bar out back with small outdoor space at back and front. 3 min walk to Macy's, the subway at Herald Sq. Very central. A couple of small cafes to the left and right of hotel for food. Can also recommend Diana's Nail and massage bar - just turn left out of hotel and she is up on west 39th st. $25 for a mani and a pedi and $10 for 20min back massage. No need to book. This was our second trip to NYC - was last there in Nov 2014 - that time we stayed at Springhill Suites by Marriot - was just on next street -37th. It was similar but far more spacious rooms and 2 kingsize beds perhaps slightly more expensive but if we were to return or recommend to friends we would recommend the Springhill Suites over this one. Don't normally stay at Best Westerns - not sure I would hurry back. It was ok but just not brilliant I'm afraid. I just can't believe no one really warned us of the very small beds on here!

« Great hotel location for ringing in the new year! »

Thanks to Erica and Debbie at breakfast! Such nice people! Went overboard at breakfast to make sure we were happy. Great location. Rooms were very small but nice, but we didn't care because we were not in the room much. Stayed on the 2nd floor because we wanted to walk the stairs during this busy time in NYC. Great visit!

« nice place, ask if they fixed the elevator noise before staying »

My husband hates cities, but for our 25th wedding anniversary, he let me drag him to see a show and the sights. The location was near the bus, show and Times square (but not TOO close for comfort :) . breakfast was AWESOME!! Room was clean but TINY. I guess that's NYC at BW, though. King sized bed seemed short to me. My biggest gripe was the BANG BANG noise constantly. It had to be elevator related. It was quiet between 1 am and 3 am. but I like more than 2 hours of sleep!! So, if you plan to get any sleep during stay, ask if the elevator has been fixed yet. Front desk seemed to aware of the noise when I asked. "oh that. We called the repairman"... isn't sleep what you're selling here? I used my rewards points so I won't complain too much about the high rates - it was a holiday weekend after all...

« Best Western ...deserves the word BEST! »

Everything was great about this stay, with the exception of the room size, which is small but really standard for NYC. The staff was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The hotel is centrally located, a short walk to all the places we wanted to be/see. The breakfast was fresh and plentiful and left out long after the posted times, much to our delight! A terrific stay at a terrific price! Will be staying here again!

Cosy hotel close to Empire State Building and Times Square, everything else is in walking distance (if you're not lazy). Extremely friendly staff, good breakfast and nice room. I wouldn't hesitate a second to go back here for my next trip to NY.

« Our New York trip »

First time we stayed inside New York city, this was the perfect location, center of all the things that interest us. Staff always maintained professional and polite demeanor. Already started planning our next visit, looking forward to staying at the Best Western in Herald Square again?

« Family of four, enjoyed our stay »

Our family of four spent our one night in the city at this hotel. We were a little cramped, but well worth it for the price! Located close to Penn station with a friendly staff. Would definitely stay here again, free breakfast too. The room and bathroom were updated, but small, would be difficult if we all had more than an overnight bag each. Perfect location, we walked to Times Square and Rockefeller Center. We were able to check in an hour early and they offered to stow our bags at check out. Hot free breakfast we did take advantage of, work out room that we did not take advantage of.

Rooms nicely updated. Breakfast was great. Walked everywhere. 10 min walk to Penn Station. Few blocks from Time Square, Rockefeller Center, Empire State Building. Lots of restaurants close by. Nice staff

« Great value in NYC midtown »

The staff and location of this hotel are excellent. Great breakfast that will keep you going well beyond lunch. The wifi was probably the best I have experience at a hotel. Nice small amenities such as continuous coffee, tea and water in the lobby and computer set up to help you print your boarding passes. Only one negative -- rooms are small, but hey, this is NYC and you don't stay in your room very much in the city that doesn't sleep.

« Great hotel in a great location »

My wife and I and two teenagers spent four nights here from Boxing Day to the 30th Dec. The location is brilliant within walking distance of everything. The staff are superb, helpful and friendly. The rooms are not massive, but are adequate and cleaned everyday. Free coffee in lobby 24/7. Lovely breakfast, with different hot options every morning, does get busy after 8am. Would definitely stay here again, the perfect hotel for a short stay in Manhattan.

« Good location - Nice Place to stay »

We stayed here for the Thanksgiving Parade. The Hotel is only a few buildings down from 6th Ave where the Parade passes. The Hotel is walking distance to the Empire State Building and Macy's and has easy access to public transport. There are a number of dining options around the Hotel. The rooms were modern and clean - but as expected in New York - a little small. But that was only a problem as we were travelling in a group of 4, otherwise the rooms are fine. Breakfast was standard. The hotel has a cute bar on the ground floor. Staff were welcoming and helpful.

« Great location! Great staff! »

This hotel is in a great location, we walked everywhere...easy and close access to subway. The hotel is nice and comfortable. The room was small but nicely renovated. We had a comfortable stay and the hotel staff was top notch! Reasonably priced.

« Great Location, clean, friendly, just what you need »

I recently stayed here for a Sunday night. I seek out Best Westerns for their independent owned stamp and quality and consistency. The Front Desk staff was excellent we were greeted way early,10am. Our bags were checked for storage. Everyone was very helpful and made the check in process smooth. Our room 1 queen beds, and we wanted a higher floor and they did accommodate us and everything was cleaned well. Even the remote!! was cleaned and bagged. The very small greeting/lobby area of the hotel served it's purpose and had the BW Fresh coffee. The location is also excellent with easy access to a variety of places and transportation. Two elevators but they lve fast and there were minimal wait times. The baggage fellow was GREAT as was the young lad at the front desk. There is little privacy if you want to speak to the concierge. The ease of getting around and walking distance to most areas 30ROCK, theatres, restaurants, MSG, Penn Station, Bryant Park, A short R Train ride to 9/11. Luggage storage before check and in after check out is all NO problem for the staff extending your hours of NYC visitation without worries, Free breakfast was crowded (no seating) and the choices were limited during the busy time we were there. We should have gotten up earlier perhaps! But we managed a meal.

    « Christmas Dream vacation »

Wonderful place to stay to get all over Manhattan. Close to Macy's and easy walk to all other sites to see. We enjoyed the hotel tremendously. The staff was pleasant, approachable, and able to help us get around to the places we wanted to go. This hotel is close to the subway to make it easy to travel to anywhere you want to go in the city. The location makes it a great place to base you stay to go through out the city of New York. Use this as a place to come back to to relax after a day of shopping or sight seeing. You are greeted by smiling faces and asked if you need anything. The breakfast to start each day is excellent. You get plenty to eat to then go off and start your day in the city. In your room, the internet access was superb. I could check in with my email from home and keep up with what is going on. Also, the TV in the room having DirecTV was awesome. Made me feel like I was at home, since I have that at my house. All in all this was a great weekend for my mother and I to celebrate the holiday season in NYC and spend time together just the two of us.

    « Excellent Service »

I recently stayed here for a Sunday night. I work at another Best Western Premier and had high expectations for the hotel. The Front Desk staff was excellent, and Sahmon greeted us immediately. He was very helpful and made the check in process smooth. Our room had 2 double beds, and everything was cleaned perfectly. Even the large window was spotless. The ambiance of the hotel, along with the design make the most of the space. The location is also excellent with easy access to a variety of places and transportation. One suggestion would be to make sure housekeeping resets the clocks after check outs. We didn't realize our iHome had an early alarm set by the last guest, which wasn't the nicest surprise to wake up to. Especially notable was our experience with Bebe at the Front Desk on our last day. She was kind enough to give us a late check out, store all of our luggage while we had lunch, and really helped to make our stay excellent. Her customer service was top notch.

« Good Service! Short space »

Overall good hotel! Great location for shopping in 5th avenue and Times Square. 2 min walk from the Empire State Building! Also good breakfast the two ladies were very kind. The down part is that the rooms are too small for a big party (4 people). If you are in a smaller party I will definitely recommend this hotel for you as your best option. Thanks to the staff!!

« Week before Christmas in NYC »

Perfect location. 17 story Hotel with hardly any wait for the elevators. Very Clean. We stayed in room 1704 which faced the back toward the Empire State Building. The windows in the back are small, the windows toward the front are much larger and would make the room feel larger. We would stay here again. The staff was super friendly and helpful. They will watch your luggage on your last day so you can check out and see the city. Hot Coffee and Tea was available 24/7 for free. Free WiFi with strong reception.

    « Wonderful location. »

This is a great hotel in a wonderful location--between Times Square and Herald Square, close to all major shopping. The only problem is that the rooms are very small. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast is okay (powdered eggs), but enough variety for everyone to get something they like. We walked or took the subway almost everywhere from here. Very easy to get around.

« Great base to use in exploring the city. OK views »

I spent 4 nights here while visiting the city with my wife. We had a fantastic time exploring New York. This hotel is located right off of Hearld Square, right by a subway stop, and near the Empire State Building. We were in one of the rooms on the top floors. Loved the view. The windows slant up in our room and offered a great skyline view for us. The street is a little interesting and not the best, and breakfast is ok. Overall a great hotel. Loved it and will be back for another trip sometime!!!

    « Amazing hotel »

This hotel is really well located, close to 6th avenue, a lot of subway stations nearby, breakfast is good, rooms are small but clean and comfortable, staff is friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

    « Great Staff »

While we were in NY, the staff was more than accommodating while we were there. Our first day in the city it rained all day - That did not keep us from going out, but we were soaked when we returned to the hotel. The staff at the front desk offered to take our clothes for us and dry them, which was completely unexpected. Every question we asked, they pleasantly answered. We will definitely be staying here again when we return.

« Another great stay at BW Premier »

Second stay, had an excellent experience in July. Without another thought just made reservations. Some bumps on first day but after speaking to Jay everything was resolved and enjoyed our stay as the first. Breakfast is a bit crowded in the lounge, offerings are better than the usual. I am a light sleeper and find ear plugs help the city noise. Staff is friendly and professional, housekeeping to management. Clean and updated decor. Best location for everything.

« Almost perfect...if it weren't for the dreaded ice machine! »

The location is definitely the best part of this hotel. Only a block from the big Macy's, and fairly close to Times Square, Broadway theaters, Penn Station - and all the shopping in mid-town Manhattan. The hotel itself is fairly new - and it shows. Everything is clean and well-appointed. Beware that it's SMALL - very small. One room for a family is really stretching things. The free breakfast was busy. The room is in the basement below the lobby and it is SMALL. But, that's like everything in Manhattan. The staff were wonderful. I was able to check in really early (7am) because I had a red-eye flight. I'd say that was luck more than anything, but they were going to try hard to get me a room as early as possible, regardless. I got a room on the quiet side facing a brick wall. I wasn't so fussed about the view. I was more fussed with the fact that my door was right beside an ice machine. (3rd floor in case your curious). I was going to change rooms, but figured I might get a room by the elevator or on the street side. Each floor only has a few rooms with 2 double beds, so the choice isn't plentiful. And herein lies the problem with this place. Even with advance knowledge of a room preference, I'd say your chances are still probably 65% that you'll get noise - and lots of it. The noise is usually a deterrent for me since I am a light sleeper, but in this place it didn't matter. I was so exhausted every night I slept through the freight train known as the ice machine for 3 nights in a row... WiFi was good, but I am guessing that's because I was on a low floor next to the lobby. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat for the location alone. I'm not sure what I'd do if I came with my kids because of the tiny, tiny size. Probably have to get 2 rooms!

« Anniversary trip to NYC »

Hotel clean and reception staff very nice. Room tiny for price. Had e mailed ahead to say was our 25th anniversary and thought they might have maybe noted this somewhere. Hotel very clean and breakfast ok. Room very small where breakfast was served but staff very efficient. I probably wouldn't stay here again due to the size of bedrooms. I'm glad I didn't spend much time in it. 6th visit to New York 7th already booked for next year.

« Good little hotel in good location »

This hotel was perfect for a short shopping trip to New York. Great location, clean rooms and ample breakfast to set you up in the morning. Helpful staff and the free coffee and water in the foyer went down a treat. Nice little bar out the back as well for a night cap after a hard day's sightseeing and shopping. Would definitely recommend and would visit again.

    « Strongly recommended »

If you need not expensive hotel in a perfect location, you have to choose this one. On the top rooms have a perfect view. The only disadvantage is a small restaurant. If you want to eat breakfast thre, sometimes you have to wait 10-15 minutes

« Nice and centrally located »

This hotel worked for your short stay in NYC. The hotel is clean and the staff is very friendly. The room are nice, beds could have been a little more comfortable for our tastes....they seemed a bit on the firm side. Our 2 adult children joined us for the last 3 nights and we were cramped to say the least, but that is not the Hotels' fault. Most rooms in NYC are very small.

    3
    « very average »

good breakfast, room not clean enough. only 2 elevators which makes a diificult start of the day. staff is very good and helpful. my room was black and white with no decor. expensive comared to the value.

« Great hotel - would highly recommend! »

Quite small hotel in a great location. Subway is just around the corner. Shopping, theathers and restaurants all nearby. When in New York, I prefer to stay a little out of all the hassle of times square. Our room faced the backyard so no traffic noise at all. However, some noise from the hallway and elevators can be heard, so I recommend to bring your earpluggs. The hotel is recently renovated and the rooms and other facilities were extremely clean and well-kept. All the employees were really nice and helpful. We really enjoyed the breakfast every morning, lot of variety and not just donuts (like in many other hotels). Also complimentary coffee in the lobby all day long. I used the gym few times during our stay. It is quite small but have all the necessary equipments for a good workout. One improvement I would like to suggest; there were only one little closet (and a drawer) in our room. Some other rack for hanging e.g. coats would be nice. Now we just kept our coats on the chair.

    « Perfect Choice »

There are so many hotels to choose from in NY and we were so glad we found this one! Arrived early but front desk found us a room on 14th floor and allowed us to Check straight in. We even received a phone call 5 mins after getting to our room, just to check everything was OK! The hotel is really slim and tall. there only looked to be about 6 bedrooms on each floor so this is not the usual type of place to stay. We had a King room and it was snug but excletionally clean and very comfortable. The only thing I thought it lacked was coat hooks on the back of the door. It was raining all the time we were in NY so we didn't know where to put our wet coats when we got back to our room! Had a problem connecting to the free wifi but when we called the front desk they advised us what to do and the problem was fixed. Breakfast room is small but we never had a problem getting a seat. Plenty of food although you have to queue sometimes to use the toaster - not really any different to other hotels we've stayed in, but a small price to pay for a free breakfast. Had a drink at the hotel bar. Happy hour 3-8 so really competitive pricing. The bar was really cosy and on a better day we would have sat outside and stayed longer. Left our luggage after checking out. All very efficient. Picked up bags later and no problems at all, This hotel is in such a perfect location. Empire State Building, macys, Herald square all minutes away. Bryant park and Rockafeller 10 mins away. We also walked from Grand Central station when we arrived and it only took 20 mins. When we left to go back to JFK we walked to Penn station and caught the A express (took 10 mins at a brisk pace with cases).the subway took about an hour and we got off at Howard Beach/JFK To then take the LLR. Had thought bout taking a taxi but at rush hour thought traffic might be a problem. If you don't mind the subway this worked really well. Only $2.75 on the subway and then $8 for the LLR. Would definitely choose this route in future. And we would recommend this hotel to all our friends.

« BEST Christmas Location HOTEL »

Let me just start off with BOOK NOW! No need to keep looking for another hotel. This has the best location for the price. Close to Macy's (for the Christmas window display) and Macy's Santaland! Walking distance to Time Square area, Rockefeller center. Right next to the Empire State building (which is decorated at Christmas time) We could really walk to just about anything we wanted to see. Also if you have younger children look up the self guided "Elf" walking tour online. We did it and shows you the places Will Ferrell went to when shooting the movie "Elf" The hotel is in the Manhattan area which is a little pricier area. Our room was well worth the cost. Our daughters were very impressed. They thought they were hot stuff when they saw our luxury room. Our one daughter said it was one of the highlights of the trip! I even made a weird special request and the manager Mustafah came through for us! I asked if our room could have a 8x10 picture of the actor River Phoenix on the bed stand for my one daughter. And when we walked in the room there it was!!!! My daughter was laughing so hard when she saw it!!!! They went above and beyond! Now this is NYC so rooms are not HUGE. I know some people complain about small rooms but unless you wanna pay close to a grand a night the rooms are going to be a little small. Pros: Clean, very comfortable beds, plush towels, complementary coffee, tea and beverages, FREE morning breakfast (very good BTW), close to everything and EXCELLENT management!!! Cons: NONE

    « Great spot »

Booked this hotel for a Christmas weekend in the Big Apple with our twin daughters. Great location, which is why we booked it, for a good price. It's right around the corner from the Empire State Bldg and almost across the street from Macy's. The perfect location for a Christmas trip. Times Square and the Rockafeller center tree are a short walk away. Rooms are small, but any rooms in Manhattan are. Nice bathrooms with upgraded accessories, and comfortable beds. Made a special request for a framed photo of River Phoenix in our room for our Daughter, and it was sitting on the dresser when we got there. Staff was friendly and check in was super easy.

« so convenient...a gem tucked in on a side street. »

I usually try to stay at Best Western. I was so pleased with this hotel. The staff, the rooms, the location...few steps from macy's and Empire State bldg. All exceeded my expectations. I would definitely stay here again. But would try to get a room on a higher floor so as to see the Empire State Bldg...

    « A Great place for a Thanksgiving stay »

Went to New York for Thanksgiving. This is a perfect location. The standard of service is outstanding. The rooms are medium sized, a bit tight for the four of us but we were still quite comfortable. Breakfasts were good quality and there is not too much of a wait most mornings. Just round the corner from Macy's and the Empire State, you can easily walk to most places although we took a cab down to WTC for about $20. Perched between fifth and sixth Avenues this is an ideal location for shoppers. Walked down 36th Street at 9 o'clock and still found a good spot to watch the Macy's parade. Cab from and to JFK was about $65 (without tip). Rooms at the back of the hotel did not have much of a view but out walking around the area you get plenty to see. Really happy with choice that we made and will happily give the hotel a Highly Recommended status

« This was a trip to visit colleges with my daughter who is a junior in high school. We also took in a few musicals. »

The room was tiny but the service was wonderful. The front desk was very accommodating. The safe in our room malfunctioned and the service man came promptly, fixed it quickly and was very friendly. The free breakfast is the best deal. There's a full spread of hot and cold items, so if you are on a tight budget this will help keep your food costs down. Being that I am a coffee addict, I loved that they have fresh coffee in the lobby 24/7. The location was excellent. We walked to the theatre each night which took about 10 to 15 minutes depending on the theatre. Time Square is a 10 minute walk away as is Grand Central though there is a closer metro station. So to sum it all up, this is not the Ritz but it is clean, the bed was comfortable, the service was above average, the breakfast a good deal and the location was central.

Beds were super comfy, shower was amazing and breakfast was full and plenty with choices for all eaters!! Hotel was spotless clean, every member of staff we came across was friendly, but special mention to Andre on the front desk who was always so helpful to us. Great fast Wifi also. Guy who helped us with our luggage was so nice and friendly, great location central to everything. Couldn't fault this hotel, we will def stay again :)

Stayed for the Thanksgiving Day parade. Perfect location and great price. I slept so good in the bed. Staff was great and very helpful. Great location. « Excellent location, good price and friendly staff »

Excellent location just off 6th avenue around the block from the Empire State Bldg and Macy's. Convenient to all transportation, subway just a block away. Times Sq/Broadway within walking distance. Very modern hotel with ample space. Stayed in the rear of the building; quiet and dark at night. There was no sense of being in the busiest city in the world! Very good hot breakfast with variety of pastries, breads, cereals, and fresh fruit as well. Staff are friendly and most helpful with any tourist issue or question. Highly recommend this hotel for family or business. Breakfast and wi-fi included in the price of the room. Only $50 (including tip) taxi from Laguardia Airport.

    « Beautiful, Convenient Hotel »

This hotel is clean and has the perfect location. Close to the subway, a parking garage right down the street... Times Square and 5th Avenue are just a short walk away. The staff is very accommodating and helpful. The rooms are a bit small, but that is what you will run into with any stay in NYC.

« Wonderful Find in Midtown »

This is a great hotel and I highly recommend staying here. It is right around the corner from Macy's and two blocks up from the Empire State Building. We ended up walking everywhere from this location, up to Central Park and The Met and down to the 9/11 Memorial and Battery Park. The hotel is small, yet very charming. The decor makes it feel like you are staying at a boutique hotel. The breakfast is typical for a Best Western (cereal, bagels, pastries, yogurt, eggs, etc.), however it's nice to have to not go out and find a breakfast spot that everyone will enjoy. The rooms are small, however they have everything you need and are very clean. I will definitely be staying here again on my next visit to the city.

« Clean, comfortable and good location »

We stayed Thanksgiving week to see our son perform in the parade. Hotel is just off the beaten path. Well situated within walking distance to Times Square area. Hotel and rooms are small, but that seems to be the norm. Friendly and attentive staff. Decent breakfast provided each morning, both hot and cold items. Nice little bar area in the rear to grab a drink and wind down. The property filled our needs well, price point was fair.

« Great stay in Manhattan and well located. »

Stayed there for 3 nights with my wife and kids. We had a room with two double beds , the room is comfortable but a bit tidy. It was clean , the bathroom had a real shower ! We were on the street side on the 5th floor a bit noisy in the morning as there was some road work being done just a 100 meters away. The breakfast was great , the only surprise was that we had plastic plates and cutlery. If you want a good view of the Empire State building ask the reception and some one will take you to the top floor and onto the roof, excellent view of the ESB. The Hotel is well located not far from Times Square, Empire State Building, NY Public Library Grand Central ! Also the 34th Herald Square subway station is just a few 100 meters from the Hotel. To top it off the Wireless is free.

« Wonderful location for Broadway theater and - Most. Outlets. Ever! »

I'd never really felt a strong desire to go to NYC, but I had to do a business trip to New Jersey and figured I'd bring my teen out to see some plays. Best Western has become my go-to brand - while/ some have been better than others, I've never stayed in a bad one yet. This was one of the best! I knew nothing about NYC or Manhattan geography, but it looked like the hotel was close to the theater district, and it was. An easy 15 minute walk to TImes Square. It was also around the corner from the Empire State Building and Macy's (which was all dressed up for Christmas.) Even better, it was an easy walk from Penn Station, so when I picked my kid up at JFK, we took the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) from Jamaica to Penn Station and were at the hotel in minutes. It was close to the Herald Square subway station, so we were able to take the subway all over. The room was small, but I expected that in NYC. I felt it was a good value for the price, especially when you factor in the hot breakfast. We were in room 204. We had two double beds and we had to dance around each other sometimes in the narrow space between the beds and the desk/TV. It would be pretty tight with three and unwieldy with four unless maybe two are kids. There was a window overlooking the lounge on the ground floor, but we didn't care about a view. We never had problems with noise. There was a staircase we could use instead of the elevator if we wanted. The most amazing thing for me was all the electrical outlets! I have never had such easy access to so many plugs! There was one in the wall by one bed, so a CPAP user like my husband would have had no problem. There were two outlets by each bed on the center console, along with a light switch. There were also outlets on the lamp on the desk. Plenty of space to charge everything without running cables everywhere. There was no bath, but the shower was nice. They included makeup removing towelettes, which was nice and probably saves their linens. The breakfast was on the lower level, along with the fitness room. It was a full, hot breakfast with lots of choices - eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, oatmeal - and different items each day. The staff was all very nice and helpful. We arrived early Saturday, so they let us check our luggage until 3pm check in time, and again on Monday after checkout until we had to leave for the airport. My daughter became interested in NYU, so who knows, we may be back for a college visit. I don't think I'd stay anywhere else!

« OK Place To Stay, But Small Rooms »

Clean, well situated hotel, but rooms are way too small (but workable, just too small for our taste). Bathroom had no space for toiletries even though there was room for a shelf (but had none). No towel rack outside the shower. Had plenty of towels and shower worked good and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast hours too short (close at 9:30 am). Internet included and worked great. Just by looking at the outside of the hotel you wouldn't know that they had a cute, cozy LITTLE bar inside - we went there twice during our stay. Overall impression is that the room was just too small for our liking. For one or two people would be o.k. (if you like 'small') but three or more people - would be a very tight squeeze and very uncomfortable.

« Very good all round »

I stayed here for 3 nights while in NYC on business. Check-in was very quick and friendly, making sure I knew what I needed for my stay. I had a king size room on the 8th floor, a decent sized room and bathroom for New York! Very clean and the room was serviced daily as to be expected. Free wifi with no issues and a good speed. Breakfast was plentiful - served in their basement room - plenty of choice, fresh fruit, pastries, hot dishes (sausages/bacon, egg, pancakes etc) ... All round a great hotel, decent location and friendly staff. (When you are handed a trip adviser card on check-out, asking if you'd kindly do a review, you know they must be confident that they're doing stuff right!!) - well done to all at the Best Western Premier Herald Square :)

« Clean but not quiet enough for me... No sleep »

On one of the highest floors facing street. Noise on street too much for me! Could hear loud elevator noise every time it ran too plus like most hotels, room doors slamming shut is so loud (why can't hotels figure out a better door system!). Asked front desk if they had ear plugs but nope. Ran out late night to get some but still, no sleep. Too bad because I liked the hotel's convenient location and found it clean.

« Great value for money »

We were three friends on a budget. We took a two double bed room and had just barely enough space. The beds were very comfortable, though. The was very clean and properly maintained. The hotel is on 35th st, a short walking distance from Times square and all of middown main attractions. The staff was very friendly and out going. The price included a complimentary breakfast that was very good: bagels, cheese, cereals, pastries, orange and blueberry juices and coffee. Highly recommended!

    « We're back again! »

We returned to our favorite hotel in NYC because of the great service at the front desk, as well as the value. This place is a 10 minute walk from Penn Station, close to 5th Ave shopping and Times Square as well .

The entire staff went above and beyond from the moment I checked in to the moment I checked out. They answered any questions I had right away. Their bright smiles and friendly attitudes made my stay that much more enjoyable!

« An ok visit and won't go back »

I don't normally write review on hotels unless they're extremely good or bad. This one was ended up with a bad taste that I've to share. Pro: convenient location just a couple blocks away from Macy's and Metro. Almost next to Keen chophouse. Surrounding my a few good food places. Free water and coffee all day, but sometimes you have to wait for them to replenish the hot water. Decent free cold/hot continental breakfast. Con: Lucky that I got a room facing Empire State Building, otherwise it's quite noisy if your room is street facing. The housekeeper was thinking to get into our room around 9am on the 2nd day while I still have the do not disturb sign out. Since we didn't really leave our room till 11ish, so we asked for clean up on the way out. When we were back around 2pm, room wasn't cleaned, so we asked the 2nd time as we planned to stop the room again after shopping for a bit. Room was still not cleaned around 5pm. We almost have to ask twice before room was cleaned for the next couple nights until the last night. Also, the cleaners start making up the room as early as 8am which you would definitely be awaken if you're light sleeper as the sound proof wasn't great, you can hear them banging on the doors and vaccuming. Worst experience was the ride that was arranged by the hotel to Newark airport. I specifically asked how much the ride to the airport is for 3 times and I was told it is $83 cash all inclusive, tips and everything. No need to pay extra. It's already a bit higher than my last year visit for at least $10, but I still thought it's ok as it should be cheaper than cab during rush hour. In the end, the driver asked for $104 and tips before giving us luggages back! He said $83 is just for the ride excluding toll and tips. I refused to give him tips while I told my friend to start grabbing our luggages. The driver gave in taking my $104 and left. I never had any problem with any hotel ride arrangement prior. This left me a really sour taste at the end of the visit. I'll definitely not going back as the price wasn't much cheaper than other hotels. This trial visit totally disappointed me. Fairfield inn and garden inn were a lot better.

This hotel is great. The rooms are small but VERY clean and modern. The Breakfast has been the best from any other Best western hotel in USA and the staff at the front desk is REMARKABLE... big thanks to Andre and Bebe for being such a caring, helpful and professional with my husband and I giving us all the info we needed so we could enjoy NY in only 24 hours. WOW! we did everything thanks to Andre's knowledge about the city! This Texas folks felt at home and cared for! We will comeback again!

I really enjoyed my time here, thanks to a great staff, sharp looking spaces and design to the building, and convenience to not only all of midtown, but it was right around the corner where I was doing business.

« ideal hotel for visiting new york »

I chose the hotel primarily for its location price and tripadvisor reviews. We were greeted with a warm welcome from André on reception. Our room was very clean if a bit small and the bathroom was very clean but had a hole in the ceiling! Breakfast is included in the price which was also a deciding factor in choosing this hotel. The breakfast was self service. A good selection, tasty and plentiful to set you up for the day. The hotel has a small friendly bar but no real lounge to sit in. For New York I think the price was very good the location is excellent and the staff very friendly. We felt relaxed and at home here. A special mention again for André who stayed after his shift had finished to talk to my son about a project he is researching for school. A really great guy Thanks!. We would be happy to stay here again

    « Loved the Location »

Having arrived at Penn Station via Amtrak, the location of the hotel is a very walkable distance from the station. It's between 5th & 6th Avenues, so if your up for a short walk, it's not that far from Radio City Music Hall. It's just a block or two from Macys and the Empire State Building. For dinning, Keens Steakhouse is just a few doors away, and it was a 3-4 blocks to some some great restaurants in Korea Town. The only negative to the hotel is the rooms are small, but it wasn't terrible in that I didn't spend a lot of time in the room anyway. The staff was very accomodating with sight seeing information and restaurant suggestions.

    « A NYC find »

This is a narrow yet tall building wedged on the North side of the iconic Empire State building. The Best Western side is misleading as it says in room descriptions that there is an Empire State building view. This is not the case as some of the rooms face outward North and you have a city view vs an Empire State one. So make sure you get a high-floor (above 10) looking South if you want an Empire State view. BUT the rooms are super clean. Very nicely appointed. As others have said - they are small rooms - but it's NYC so expect that. The bar is nice. The breakfast room is large and very clean. It's a great spot in terms of location - FOR SURE. I'd go here again. The staff is very accommodating. They should make this a model spot for other Best Western managers/owners to go to - to see how a Best Western location should look and operate.

Great value and service! Good location and very clean. Back patio is a nice advantage for a relaxing time after work :) Staff is always friendly and I feel safe in this hotel. Would recommend to others for business stay but the rooms are small so if sharing a room, would be tight

« Week of blitz in the City that never sleeps »

First time for me and wife in New York and based our choice of hotel on location. Read some comments from various sources and checked the pictures of course, but location is everything here. There are number of hotels in the area of course, but this seemed to be best choice on price-quality ratio. Room was ok, rather small as they are in NY, but clean and tidy - everyday have to add. Breakfast was nothing to brag about, but gave enough juice to start the day. Recommend this hotel, if you are in town for about a week and traveling as a couple or with friend.

    « Great stay »

Location, service, cleanliness, all excellent! After a delayed flight, a walk from the train on the rain, I was greeted by Sade. She was very kind and friendly. For personal reasons I asked to get my room changed and the next morning Andre seemed to understand. Within several hours I was moved to a room meeting my needs. In fact, I could not have picked a more perfect room myself. Both Andre and Sade were very helpful, friendly, and genuinely seemed to love their job. The breakfast had good variety, was never empty, and friendly workers. Let say, everything was extremely clean! I will stay here on my next visit.

    « Well located, small-roomed hotel »

Great location near Herald Square, easy walk to Times Square, Empire State, Macey's, etc. Rooms are on the small side and breakfast in the tiny dining room is a bit of a scrum, but if you find a good deal online, this sliver of a building is a great base for an NYC break.

    « A little midtown gem »

I have stayed in manhattan for many times and this is possibly the smallest hotel room I've stayed in BUT don't let that stop you from staying here! The huge bed was very comfortable (probably the most comfortable I've experienced in the city), the room extremely clean and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The free breakfast was always fresh and plentiful. The location itself is great for getting pretty much anywhere as it's close to all the main subway lines and only a short walk to times square and grand central. I would happily stay here again.

    « Excellent stay - we'll be back!! »

I'm about as fussy a traveler as they come. So, finding this hotel was a real find for me. My husband and I with our two adult children stayed for a week and found the location, amenities, WiFi, breakfast, and staff top notch. One of our rooms was located facing the street, the other away. If I could make a recommendation regarding a room choice, I would for certain say to choose a room NOT facing the street. I am a light sleeper and would not be able to cope with the street side noise. We found the location to be about a central as it comes - close to everything - subways, Bryant Park, Empire State Building ... all the stuff you want to see and do while visiting NYC. I really appreciated the beverage bar on the main level to grab a coffee, tea, or cold cup of water. My only "complaint" -- and it is no reflection on the staff or hotel itself -- would be certain guests. We were awoken on one evening of our stay at 3:10 a.m. by a group of female guests on our floor that were no less than shrieking. They proceeded to carry on with their noise only a couple of doors away for over an hour. I'm sure our whole floor was aware of this. As with all hotels, I find these types of guests not uncommon -- no matter what class of hotel you are staying in. Additionally, not to address this hotel in particular but why do all hotel doors have the slam shut feature? This is highly annoying for those that like to sleep past the early early hours - or when you're trying to drop off to sleep. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a centrally located, exceptionally clean, and well priced hotel in NYC. Thank you to all BWPHS staff, everyone was friendly and fantastic. Hope to see you all again soon!

« Perfect for tourists to New York »

This hotel doesn't look much from the outside. Its thin and narrow and tightly squeezed in a side street (36th) between 5th and 6th Ave. My family of three had a twin double room. The room was small and the luggage of three suitcases and a couple of bags only just really fitted in. So whats good, why would I recommend? 1) Location, its right next to several metro stations, within walking distance to everywhere, between two of the biggest avenues in NY 2) The room - even though its a squeeze in the room it was cosy, very clean and the beds were some of the most comfortable hotel beds I slept in. They are made up daily, I guess the sheets were changed too, but I didn't make any stains! The room also has a cool quiet air con, even in October. I find many hotels stuffy, this wasn't. The bathroom has a double shower, plenty of hot water and full of bathroom amenities. The only issue is the extraction was poor and the main room windows would steam up. I had to stop my teenage son drawing a .... well you know what they are like at that age! There was also large flat screen telly on the wall which had about 200 channels many in HD 3) The included breakfast - each day there is a hot breakfast, which varied daily from a sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, potatoes, omelette, bacon etc... The juice was freshly squeezed and the pastries were shipped in boxed fresh each day. 4) The service - the staff at the hotel couldn't do enough for you and they were so friendly professional and helpful If you are looking a for a centrally located hotel to tour the city and use as a base for sleeping at night and somewhere to provide a good start to the day then I would definitely recommend this hotel. The wifi was fast and free and there was free coffee in the entrance which you can help yourselves to throughout the day and night. I would definitely recommend

« Excellent R&R in the heart of it all. »

No hotel room is worth what NYC hotels cost, but this was good value by those expensive standards. I always look for value, clean, safe, healthy and strong wifi. This hotel meets all of those requirements easily, and an easy 15 minute walk from Penn Station. The room was small, but room enough for two, modern and comfortable. View out of our window in mid-block was of apartments and offices, but looking directly upwards was a very close and dramatic view of the top of the Empire State Building. Lobby and bar area are small, but the bar is a nice place to relax with an enclosed though open roofed patio. I enjoyed and used the outdoor seating with tables between the sidewalk on 36th St. and the front door, although this is where the smokers hang out, and at one point I needed to go inside to get some fresh air. All of it together makes it a good hotel for necessary R&R when visiting the great, exhausting city. Free breakfast was used by sig. other, but nothing special about it. Recommended without reservation.

    « Glad I Chose This Hotel »

Location was one of the driving choices for booking this hotel. I had to be at an event at The Times Center on 41st Street in New York, but did not want to be too close to the Times Square, though I wanted to be close enough. I arrived around 10:30 in the morning, and within 20 minutes they were able to get me into a room. For New York, the room was more spacious than I expected, it also had a view of the Empire State Building. The bathroom was spacious too. Both the room and the bathroom were immaculately clean. The Wi-Fi worked exceptionally well. I cannot praise enough the responsiveness of the people working at this hotel, particularly Ryan, Bebe, Andre, and Jay. I had to deal with a variety of situations, some somewhat unusual, and all of them were tremendously helpful, and were total stars at that. The lobby is not big, but it has a nice sense of design. Most importantly, it has a station where water, coffee (freshly made all day long), and tea are available throughout the day. There is a lovely bar area in the back with a charming back patio, which is a mini hideaway oasis from New York's hustle and bustle. As a bonus, there is also a lovely patio out front with comfortable seating, it was handy on so many occasions, and it made me reflect on how few hotels actually have this great feature. The breakfast area was spacious, but I would recommend going a bit early, as it can get very crowded during peak times. Their breakfast was of great quality with a tremendous variety of offerings, which were constantly replenished. The location of this hotel speaks for itself - it is close to so many famous sights in New York from Herald Square to Times Square, to Madison Square Garden, to Empire State Building, to Penn Station, and the list goes on. There are also many great restaurants in the vicinity. The Keg Room across from the hotel is nice for casual dining and they had great service, while Brendan's on 35th Street was a lovely more upscale dining discovery. I was glad I stayed at Best Western Premier Herald Square, and would not hesitate staying there again, so it's highly recommended.
