Best Western Premier Hotel Beaulac

Nice modern hotel on the lake. The rooftop bar seems like a bit of a local hang out because it was well occupied on our Sunday night. Wonderful view of the lake on the rooftop, lounge couches, soft light. Really nice. Rooms are large with an office space and a desk as well as the regular room. Nice big balcony. In hotel car parking by reservation. Good Wi-Fi. Massive, great breakfast overlooking the lake.

They must have one of these days when simply all goes wrong that can possible go wrong and which you'd never expect to go wrong in such a hotel. Short version: - ununderstandable situation with room booking - parking - situation in room - very friendly service, but, for some, not really professional. Looked a bit lost. - Location! Location Location! - Good room but with some inacceptable aspects for a 250 EUR night The full story - it still makes me wonder what actually happened on that day... I had booked with the real pleasure of ending the day with a 'soothing' experience after a very, very tough business day. the proximity of the lake and two beaches just a few minutes walk away... The VIEWS !! incredible, at least on the hotel website. And this roof top lounge! Made my day already the day before, in pre-expectation of a laptop evening session, as usual for business trips, but this time with an almost maritime feeling, direct view on the lake + the Mont Blanc + Neuchatel old town... the warm wind. In order to make it perfact, I called the hotel the day before, as I always do, to discuss the room etc. I asked for a room as high as possible and - as far as possible from the lifts or other sources or noise. The gentleman on the phone assured me he would call me in case the room request couldnt be fulfilled. I never received a call, hence assumed all would be good. I also asked about parking and was told that the spaces in front of the hotel and the underground garage might very well be full, but that a public parking would be available close by. And, that unfortunately it is not possible to reserve parking (like in some other hotels, hence no surprise) Arriving at the hotel, anice surprise: a free spot just in front of the hotel! When asking the receptionist if she can open it for me, the answer was my first 'whaaat' experience of the day: sorry, all the spaces are.... reserved and not available... I must say that Ms Carolina went out of her way to accomodate me. She finally gave me the parking spot. When informing about the room, it appeared it was in the.. 2nd floor. There was nothing to be doone because "the rooms had been assigned in the morning and it was decided I would receive this one" Well. When asking if they were far from the lifts... Ms Carolina said... not really. Room 230 was a bit further than the lifts. She was able to propose me room 229 'which is isolated from the lifts by a sliding door' I wondered why a door is needed if not... removing noise from the lifts?... Will the smart reader already guess what was the first thing I saw when exiting the lift? I saw: room 230 was indeed ca 15 meters from the lifts, but..... room 229 is literally... 3 or 4 meters away. The mentionned door was very heavy (fire?) door, kept open but I made the test: when it slamms shut, the wall is shaking.. I also noticed that the service lift, for staff, was located.... directly at the back side of my room. I was really wondering whaaaat hhad happened here, how could the hotel assign me a room where everything was the absolute contrary of what was discussed beforehand. When asking reception about maybe taing room 230, I was told they just assigned it and , almost with a reproach, that "they wanted to be nice by giving me room 229". Unfortunately, without great knwoledge of the plans of the hotel... The room was the next surprise.. The first impression was one of a very elegant, high standard room. One of the first thing I saw were the windows, much smaller than on pics in the internet. And... there is this 'modern' construction covering the full back side of the hotel, making in sort that between you and the great, great lake and mountain view, there is a metallic construction. Mhh. The windows are not very clean, what is also annoying at sunrise in the morning. The view down the window is one of a a very run down and dirty metallic structure. A pity... The room also had a few places where the.... wall paper was disconnecting from the wall. To 99,9%, the room was in a pristine cleanliness. That is... unless you spot the long hair in teh shhower. Yes, it was almost invisible hence difficult to spot for a cleaning staff. But still not nice when you find it next to your naked feet while showering... The second surprise in the shower was to find an ... empty soap dispenser. Not a big problem to wash yourself with shampoo, but....250 EUR ?... The air ventilation in the bathroom was so loud that I heard it in the room with cosed door. IT caused a sort of rummaging that didnt disappear for the langht of my stay. The short swim at the beach was indeed so nice. It is really, really nice to be so close, able to get there by foot in just a few moments. Before going for dinner on the roof top bar, I told the gentleman at reception about the emtpy soap dispenser and the hair. He assured me he'd solve it immediatly. The evening on the roof top lounge was also as expected. Apart maybe for the food. While the fries and salad where perfect, the burger was quite tasteless. Not bad, but really not a revelation.. But I had a really relaxing working session. also, the staff was amazing, really accommodating every wish Note that even there, there were some slight cleaniless issues, like old, washed out cigarette buts in the railing of the glass on the side of the terrasse, etc.. But the staff and the really good wine served made up for it! Back in the room.... the averted reader will guess it already... Wanting to enjoy my evening shower, First thing I notice: the hair is still there and the soap still empty... Going down to reception, I met the same gentleman again... he was really surprised and guaranteed me to fix the issue himself. He came back with several soap, shampoo and body lotion dispensers. He didnt succeed to remove the empty one, and pulled so strong on it that I suggested that before breaking something, he might just leave it ther efor me. When he first checked the soap, he did an amazing thing: entering the shower cabin with his shoes on.... just for two steps. I tried to diplomatically tell him"look, I remove my shoes in order to show you the hair and the empty soap". But when he then wanted to fiy it, he.... well, the smart reader will gess it... entered again, with his shoes, completely into the shower cabin. I was so speechless... Also because the gentleman left the room, forgetting the other unused bottles of shampoo and body lotion + the empty one, leaving me with three bottles stapled on my sink. Well. I had a quite good night, even tough I had to put on the TV to cover the noises from the ventilation whiel finishing my work, but slept qite well - with my ear plugs on. I left with very mixed feelings. I believe this hotel tries to play the luxury card without being able to do the full thing. I cant really imagine myself being back, but we'll see.

Best Western in Europe is leagues above their US counterparts. My weeklong stay at the Beaulac could not have been better: helpful multilingual staff; convenient location to the university and the old city; stunning views of the lake from the hotel restaurant and rooftop bar. The beds were wonderfully comfortable. Bathroom was quite compact but well equipped, and my room even had a small balcony with table and chairs, perfect for enjoying views of the busy port. Rooms were well soundproofed and the AC was very efficient during the recent heat wave. Excellent spread of eggs, breads and pastries, cheeses, meats/smoked salmon, and fruits at breakfast, which can be enjoyed in the dining room or on the outdoor terrace. Switzerland is expensive but the Beaulac offers excellent value for the price. Highly recommended.

The front desk staff could not have been more helpful. The Neufchâtel Pass gave us bikes, boat ride on the lake, free admission to the museum across the street. The town was wonderful but we had our bag w our phone stolen from the back it the bike. Hotel was terrific though. We will be back!

Very easy to get from the station to the hotel. We had a room with a balcony on the 6th floor overlooking the lake. The view was unbelievable. Lovely room with very comfortable bed. Very clean bathroom. Huge balcony with a chair that you could lie on. Would recommend the rooms on this floor.

Excellent business hotel and certainly nice for couples or family. Located right on the lake, city center is a 3 min walk. Rooms are aery with a beautiful view on the lake. Bed quality os excellent. Free wifi. Large breakfast buffet. And best of all: from the roof top bar/terrasse you have to most amazing view of the entire Swiss Alps.

I spent two nights in a third floor lake view room. You can open the windows and get the breeze although it might not be a good idea in terms of noise at night. I kept the windows closed and found the room was silent both in terms of external and hotel noise. Everything was well designed except the inconvenient placement of power outlets near the bed. The gym is small but well equipped with a buoyant Lakeview. There is a Lakeside Park where you can run or swim just outside the hotel.Breakfast was OK but not exceptional Quality for this level of hotel. The staff at breakfast were not very nice.

Great place, great staff, great view! Would stay at this location again in the future. Musee d'Historee located across from hotel and was a wonderful place to visit, as well. Breakfast was delicious and service was friendly.

Well we were rather worried having booked for 3 nights in the Hotel Beaulac given the reviews but it was fantastic. We had a lakeside executive room with a balcony. The room was quiet - no noise from any bars either upstairs or outside. It was spotless, had a very comfortable bed, fab view, effective yet quiet aircon and great bathroom. Can honestly find nothing to complain about. In fact the opposite. One of the best rooms we have ever stayed in. We also went to the waves bar which was great. Very friendly and attentive staff and wonderful view. Again can not find fault although again given the reviews we were expecting to. We didn't have breakfast or use the parking (we went on the road as free) so can't comment. Will definitely come back. Thank you for a great stay

We stayed here for three nights, we choose an executive room with lake view and it was great. The views amazing and we really enjoyed the balcony over the lake. Breakfast was really nice, with hot meals and a selection of fresh fruit/pastries/cheese They have space to park the bikes on the garage for free. For the car, it's better to book although we were super lucky and could leave the car on the street for free since it was holidays (we didn't move it during the stay). The only negative point is about sustainability, they still use plenty of single use plastic for amenities, don't have a policy to reuse towels, etc I believe nowadays, they could do a lot with small changes.

Nice view but poor quality of hot drinks..I order a hot chocolate and based on their menu I was supposed to get a Swiss hot chocolate. At the end I got milk mixed with cacao..I expected more from this magnificent location

Pros: Great location, efficient and friendly front desk staff, clean and compact room designed to offer plenty of storage space. Great view from the room. Nice toiletries. Delightful breakfast spread. Hands don one of the best I have had in all of Europe. Cons: Very unprofessional housekeeping staff! The woman walked away with my keycard hanging in the slot next to the door, leaving me in a dark room! I rushed after her, thinking it was an absent minded mistake, but no, she argued with me that it was HER keycard! Very fishy.

Quite modern hotel located close to the lake. Room appeared new and fresh. Unfortunately the lake view was blocked a some sort of a prison like metal grid as a facade. AC in the room was very weak, rooms get very hot. Opening the window at night is impossible as there's people having party all night right in front. Service was average, never had I the impression that this was a 4 star hotel. The bar on the roof has a beautiful view, but there's no priority for hotel guests and you just have to press the top floor in the elevator and hope that you can go up. If you can't, it's full and you have to keep trying. Service up there was not present or plain rude, no covid certificate check and absolutely not allowed to move any chairs or sit at a table for more than 3 people even if it was there. Bar on the ground floor doesn't open the outside terrace even when the sun is shining. Service (getting tables ready) in the breakfast area is very slow. And we constantly got asked if we didn't get a covid bracelet form reception to avoid the certificate check for breakfast - even though there apparently were not bracelets.

The Bestwestern Neuchâtel is perfectly located along the shore, in the very center of the city. Recently renovated the public spaces and the rooms are fresh and clean. A plus is a bar-rooftop with a wonderful view on the lake. Choose rather a room with a view on the lake. The best rooms, a bit more expensive, are at the upper floor. The staff at the reception was very friendly.

We asked the girl at the front desk for availability for a room and she was very professional and friendly. Then we decided to get a couple of drinks first at the rooftop terrace. Up there we were told by a very unfriendly waiter, that we couldn't be served outside. He looked like a blond fashion model, but behaved like a brat. He wasn't interested in the least and kept on moving things around. If you are not client oriented, get another job! When asking for the reason, why we couldn't sit outside, it was because it was cloudy and it might rain...what? It was more likly, because my husband was black! Even worse, while we were talking a waiter took the orders of two girls sitting outside. I have never been turned away any place in the world, because of clouds in the sky! Shame on you! Needless to say, we got a room at another place.

Sat in the hotel bar for 40 minutes without being even acknowledged. When I pointed out we hadn't been served to the person working at the entrance they did not apologize. General Manager couldn't even be bothered to reply to my email. No idea why anyone would return to this establishment.

Staying at the Hotel Beaulac is definitely a wonderful experience but it can be pricey, if someone is flexible with their dates, maybe a weekday night is a better, cheaper option. However the rooms are fantastically comfortable with coffee machines and capsules in every room along with a tea selection. Worth choosing a lakeview room to enjoy the glorious sunrise. And another highlight that definitely cannot be missed is the stunning rooftop bar with its infinite views of the lake and beyond.

The hotel is in a perfect location, right on the lake, and in short walking distance from the center of town. Due to covid restrictions we were "forced" to eat dinner in the hotel, and as the restaurant was full, they placed us in the bar on the top floor, Huge windows all around, amazing view (sunset!) and very professional and friendly young waiting staff. The dishes were delicious, the cocktails and drinks very nice. Excellent prices, with a bit steep prices though. Breakfast buffet did not have too many choices, although the place was packed full. The coffee machine, or the beans, or both, need a serious upgrade. The rooms are not very large, and obviously the ones facing the lake are much better than the ones facing the parking lot. We were a bit surprised by how long the empty trays of the room service stayed on the floors in the corridors. Seems also this hotel cut back on personnel or attention during covid times a bit too much.

Friendly staff, excellent location, comfortable room overlooking the lake. Nice fitness room. Dinner was delicious and a treat in these COVID times. Oriental feel. Our waiter was fun and friendly. Very good breakfast too. Will gladly go back

Worst hotel experience ever! We needed to change the hotel room due to a penetrating smell from the bathroom. Next day we had an emergency situation with my 1,5 year old son. Instead of an immediate help, we were told to wait till other guests had made their check-ins. Later I asked to speak with the hotel manager, but never got an apology from him, Maxime Rod up today. Very disappointing experience!

Lacks the health measures needed during Covid times. Personnel not wearing mask at all. A little attention to the current health (Covid) situation could reassure the customers of some degree of safety. Other than that ordered tea which came 35 minutes later after several follow-ups. The waiter serving us during dinner time was friendly.

Its a nice hotel at a nice location but clearly overpriced for what you get. Alao its loud as many bars with music are close by. Cateful. The bar on the top is nice but the service is really bad. It was ok but we def dont come back

Staying at the hotel one night, two adults and two kids (5 + 11), Swiss family. Booked two weeks ago via telephone, asked for email confirmation twice which never arrived. Confirmed via phone the day prior to arrival whether all was fine and i was told it was. After arrival at the premises in the afternoon we were told that there is no possibility for our family (2 adults with kids) to eat at the hotel's restaurant. It is fully booked and that's it! The alternative would be to go to their beautiful bar Waves on the seventh floor but alas - no kids are permitted up there! This is ridiculous: I have been travelling Switzerland the whole week and in non of our Hotels (from 3 to 5 stars) we were turned away for dinner! The minimum I expect is that the hotel alerts me in their confirmation (phone or email) about this situation, so I can decide whether to come there or not. I obviously would have chosen another hotel had I known this. To add insult to injury - as an alternative to their beautiful Lakeside Sushi restaurant - we got recommended a Sushi Bar that is a hole in the wall and could be found in any suburb (maybe brilliant food but terrible setting). Receptionist very friendly and helpful but but she was alone at the desk most of the time with lots of people to check in. No concierge available, so she also had to handle the various guests looking for a place to eat (we were not the only ones). So this will be first and last time for me in this place. I strongly do not recommend it due to their lack of professionalism and organization. Pity because the setting of the hotel is nice.

I stayed at the Hotel Beaulac purely for business for 6 nights. I was the first to check in from my group and my room was on the first floor with nice views to the lake but obscured by poles and roofing below. View was nice from inside the room but felt a little claustrophobic. Rooms are fine for single traveller but small for a couple. Bed was heaven but I was given 2 singles when I requested a double as I was solo traveller. But it was fine. In fact I looked forward to climbing into bed each night as the linen was so nice. Bathroom was super tiny, shower was not great and caravan tiny. The rooftop was THE place to be after work. Great way to find down and the Japanese food was absolutely delicious. The lunch's downstairs however not so great but then Swiss food has an identity crisis, it's not really any particular cuisine but a medley. They are a very friendly and accommodating hotel. It's not that I wouldn't return to Beaulac as much as I wouldn't return to Neuchatel. Incredibly beautiful and quiet, just not much to do. There is a great Mexican restaurant just opposite though, so if you're there with colleagues head on over, it's a fun night!

This is my favorite bar in Neuchatel!! Amazing views with comfy chairs and nice ambiance! They have really good cocktails - especially love the gin based drinks. I've been here about 10 times and the service has been consistently good. The food is ok (above average) and on the expensive side - I highly recommend coming here for the drinks and views!!

Very comfortable rooms, and a restaurant with interesting plates, some of them quite good The cleaning personnel not too kind, they tried to hurry you to leave earlier the day of departure without any consideration.

We had a room overlooking the lake and everything was first class . Quality of towels , dressing gowns etc. perfect . Underground parking worth paying for . Good quality breakfast . The upstairs bar is an a delight , don't miss it.

nice and up to date hotel. a bit pricey but worth it for the comfort and air conditioning in the summer. all staff very efficient and personable however they cleaning crew just knocks and enters the room so watch out if you like to watch TV in the buff.

This was a second choice as the hotel we were supposed to stay at in Bern was undergoing renovations. This one had a great location on the lake and we had perfect weather. The rooms were comfortable (with AC...most don't have it), great coffee pot in room, comfy robes and a delicious breakfast buffet included. The rooftop bar is great (try an aperol spritz) but the service could be improved. We had a server tell us how tired she was and it was obvious in the service. I may attribute some other oversights with service due to language differences but we overcame that. A street food fair was taking place during the time we stayed, so we were able to try some good treats. A lot in walking distance from hotel; little side streets with shops, restaurants, cafes. A bit pricey, but we found that throughout our time in Switzerland.

Fantastic location with great views over the lake, rooms modern and clean, reception staff helpful and friendly but...the staff in the rooftop bar were really not interested. Asked for a table for 4 and taken to one with seating for 3, asked if anywhere with shade from the sun and told "yes but we haven't opened that part yet", found our own 4 seat space but as not service after 25min left for a bar by the harbour where service was instant and we saved ££s

Have been in this hotel 3 hours. Excuse me if I'm grumpy after a long drive here but the first problem was the parking we'd asked for on booking wasn't available. 2nd Despite a long queue at reception only one receptionist appeared to be on duty. We waited in the roof top bar some 20 minutes or so to order drinks - no one came. Indeed no table in the shade was available as "we aren't opening the ‘other' section yet" There appears to be only 2 small lifts for quite a large hotel - and one of those takes you in semi-darkness. On the bright side The room despite smelling of cleaning materials is clean and comfortably furnished. I'm hoping my initial impressions will improve despite the children's shouting from a nearby room........

The view is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. I don't feel it's worth its price. Service is just appalling and very unprofessional. We stayed here as a couple for 3 nights. Just a few examples: - Rooms are not cleaned until the evening (despite „please clean“ sign on the door since noon and 2 calls to reception) - Breakfast is super busy, tables are not cleaned quickly, the buffet is half empty as staff can't manage to refill fast enough - Wave bar reception was bad as well. Just seated in a corner and asked to wait. Not even given a drinks menu or asked to order for more than 20min. - Parking (even if asked upfront) seems fully booked every day. No surprise with only 10 parking spots.

I made reservation to this hotel because it advertise free parking. Actually it's not. It costs $20 per night. Front desk services are unprofessional and provided different information and responses to customer in a bad way and emotionally . Room are tiny, bed super tiny, and for the bathroom, you can't even turn around in the bathroom. Only one time here. Highly un-recommend.

This could have been wonderful. The roof top view is sensational, but although there were numerous staff there was a lack of management. It was windy and very hot. People were uncomfortable outside and inside it was stuffy. Tea took forever to be served but the location was stunning. Lifts were so hot everyone felt faint. We were guests of our hostess who uses this venue often, however it is very expensive so should be managed professionally. One of our party is a retired hotelier.

positive - the best location and adorable view - amazing rooftop bar- not only interior and terrace, but their bartenders and waitresses are competent and polite - reception staff are very kind negative - extremely small room and the smallest bathroom I've ever seen - the roommate didn't clean well - poor breakfast, but expensive

The newly built rooftop bar Waves is really offering beautiful views on the lake and the Alps. But if you want to be a fancy place serving really expensive drinks - 18 francs for a cocktail and 10 francs for a beer - you have to propose an appropriate service. Calling ahead to book a table to be told that no bookings are taken, crossing the city to be eventually told that several customers were already waiting and that the bar on the ground floor was available is simply not acceptable. Waves might enjoy some popularity because it is a novelty, but it is not going to last and this will be difficult for the place...

The pluses are the position at the lake's edge, the resulting views and the close proximity to the centre. Likewise the front desk, particularly the young man on duty at our arrival on 6 March, was helpful and courteous . The negatives, which while individually minor, combined to make the stay somewhat irritating. A request to turn down the apparently centrally controlled heating was never addressed. Power to the charging unit on the desk was not working properly but was eventually fixed and the extractor fans in the bathroom and toilet first of all did not switch off and then failed to work altogether for 2 days. The greatest disappointment was the E 25 per person breakfast, which we only took once. Staff were friendly and courteous and choices were decent.However, nothing looked particularly appetising and the coffee was about the worst I have had anywhere in Switzerland. What was particularly annoying was the way staff regularly passed our table but made no effort to remove used plates and cutlery. The latter is a fairly basic training issue for the younger staff in particular. The service at breakfast, coupled with some quite negative reviews of the hotel restaurant, suggest that there are issues that are not being addressed which undermine the many positives offered by the hotel and many, if not most staff.

While visiting family I was taken to this newly renovated hotel. We went to the top floor terrace which was stunning. We discovered that we could only have drinks in this part of the part of the hotel as you could NOT eat there until after 2pm. Therefore after lunch!! So at 12:20 we went to the ground floor where there was a restaurant with a sushi bar. We waited to seated and while the bar area was full, there was LOTS of empty tables around so we asked if we could just sit at an empty table and have some some tempura prawns etc. BELIEVE IT OR NOT the manager on duty said NO and suggested we went across the road if we really wanted sushi- UNBELIEVABLE!! My relative myself and a third member of our party went to the main desk (the third guest and my relative live and work in Neuchatel and have frequented this establishment many times in the past) and asked to speak to the Maitre de and was told he was on holiday. Do you want to make a profit Best Western? We wanted to have Lunch and could only be served coffee.

Been here before and this time it was a much better experience. Great and spacy room with an amazing view. All the comfort you need during a stay. Nicely decorated room and bathroom.The bar at the top level has a nice view over land and the lake. The only negative point would be the peeps working here as some could do with a more positive approach. Just wear a smile. Apart from that it was a pleasure to stay.

I went there to spend a night with my boyfriend. We had the "comfort" double room, which first of all, was not comfortable at all! We put together two single beds, which would move apart everytime we would try to move together closer. It was sad not being able to really sleep together (as clearly one of us would fall into the hole in between the beds). Also the room and the washroom were quite small (I've been to 3 star hotels before and there it was even bigger). I heard a lot of people boast about this hotel but really save your money, go somewhere else, it's not worth it... The design was not up to a 4 star hotel either. The staff was friendly, breakfast was good and the rooftop was nice (but very expensive). But I am definitely never going there ever again!

Stayed in this hotel many times over the last 3 years & on my last 2 visits, including this one, there was what I can only describe as a odour of sewage in the room. It's a shame really as the location of the hotel is perfect, food is good and staff are really nice, but the room standard with the odour is less than welcoming.

This hotel is way overpriced considering it doesn't have a leisure centre. There are better value hotels close by. You will also struggle to have your Best Western awards allocated as I've tried several times in vain to have this issue sorted out. Look elsewhere before booking here

Stayed here for a weekend visiting family in Neuchatel. Hotel located at harbour on lake edge with beautiful views of the lake and Alps from the rooftop bar area. Very close to town centre, restaurants, bars, shops etc. Friendly staff, good breakfast and nice restaurant where we ate on Sunday night. Rooms were a good size and comfortable. Small gym available. No hesitation in recommending this hotel which I will be visiting again before Christmas.

Stayed here as part of a business trip and was surprised by how beautiful the hotel was. Lovely, big rooms and the view!!! WOW! I would definitely stay here again if I ever found myself back in this area of Switzerland!

The rooftop bar is beautiful, especially on a clear day. Staff were pleasant and the rooms clean and modern. We overlooked the harbour which was nice. The only thing we didn't like was the weird elevator that projects images on the walls and ceiling and the music that went along with it!

I stayed here for two nights as I had a business trip. The hotel is very beautiful and super clean!! The room I had, had an amazing view and it was really spacious and comfortable. The food I ate at the hotel's roof garden was exceptional!!! If I visit Neuchatel again in the future I will most likely stay there again

This is a beautiful hotel located at a beautiful location. I recommend to book a room with the lake view and a terras. These rooms are on the sixth level of the hotel just one level beneath the rooftop bar. So you have the same view from your terras as from the rooftop bar. Breakfast: I didn't liked the breakfast in the hotel, the choice is limited and the price is too high for what you get. There are other places to get your breakfast, like Coop City (5 minutes walking from the hotel). The dinner in restaurant Lake Side is a disaster, see my other review about the restaurant.

I liked the location of this hotel. About a 10 minute walk from the train station and 10 minute walk in to the town. I had a room on the 1st floor the view was of the harbour. I think if I had a room view up the view would be better. i am not complaining. I found the room to be very bright. You have to use your key in the slot to operate the electrical. One note is to be careful when you come out of the shower with the glass door. I am saying this because my glass door when opened went close to the toilet. So f you slam the door against the toilet the door could break. There is a towel warmer in the room. I want to thank Claudia at the front desk she helped me alot with the directions. I found the service to be good. You should visit the 7th floor there is a bar there but the view is good and night or during the day.

I recently spent a few days here with work colleagues as we had chosen Neuchatel for our global team meeting. I won't lie, when I read "Best Western" I wasn't expecting much but I was positively surprised. The hotel is located right on the lake with an absolutely stunning view wherever you turn. The rooftop bar is stunning with fantastic decor. You have to try the Absinthe given that Neuchatel is the birthplace of it! The hotel's restaurant serves top notch food (and I'm picky when it comes to my food). The rooms aren't super luxurious but they give you what you need. While the beds could have been more comfortable, I've slept on much worse. Also, you have ample space to move around and the rooms are clean. The staff at reception were very delightful as were the restaurant staff. At the rooftop bar we had one waiter that was quite Swiss in his mannerisms (cold and direct :)) but we also had a waitress who emitted bundles of warmth and was super helpful with all our Absinthe related questions. The hotel is also walking distance from the Neuchatel's downtown and its a beautiful walk. If you are ever in Neuchatel, or plan to visit, I highly recommend this hotel.

Hotel is renovated, rooms are spacious, rooftop of the hotel is amazing overviewing the lake and ask for lake view cause it has breathtaking view plus private terrace. However service was below average. Cleaning service was poor, reception people were rude, and the breakfast was below basic, even poor, with a poor service as well,

This was our second visit to this beautiful scenic terrasse. The first time we waited over 30 minutes to be served (there were only three other tables occupied). Today we passed a very unpleasant guy at the reception area before taking the lift upstairs. We seated ourselves at an outdoor table and after a 20 minute wait we decided that it was time to leave to go somewhere else where the “acceuil” was much more friendly. Come on Beaulac, you need to do much better!! Please do not snob your precious customers,

Waves is the clearly the new ‘in' place in historic Neuchatel. At last someone has had the vision to exploit the rooftop of this lakeside hotel, which has been renovated over many years, and have created a fabulous rooftop terrace venue to enjoy the panoramic and commanding views over Neuchatel town and port but also over the lake towards the Alps. We were visiting Neuchatel for a week and met friends here for evening drinks on two separate occasions. When we were just 3 the service was fine but on the second occasion we were a larger party and getting waiter attention was challenging and ordering a second round of drinks for 10 people took over 30 minutes to deliver. I understand Waves is new and there are a number of ‘teething' issues which need to be addressed; poor service was a very common theme when we discussed this with local friends and colleagues. We did not eat here but the drinks are expensive; but then this is Switzerland and you do get an incredible panoramic view! I look forward to seeing improvements on the service front on a subsequent visit.

This is a well-appointed Hotel by the lakeside, with outside bar and restaurant area, and a fantastic luxury roof terrace, Staff are very helpful and pleasant, always trying to do their best. The food can be limited especially f you have dietary requirements e.g gluten-free, there were only3 items on the menu. I would recommend if you are in this area - 5 minute walk from town centre and next to a small harbour where there are also boat trips on the lake

This is a highly rated hotel with beautiful views and a hefty price. It was summer and very hot indeed. There was no airconditioning and with wide open windows NO air at all. Completely airless and very hot in a nicely appointed room. THe restaurant is expensive and Sushi is on offer. Relatively poor sushi in fact at a high price. The sashimi was good. The skylounge is new and very expensive, Maid service was spotty-- no replacement toiletries left on subseuent days rather nice place with all the atmosphere -- but honestly there has to be something better in Neuchatel

I have been to Switzerland many times but never stayed at this hotel. This hotel was beautiful and the view from our hotel window was breath taking. We had a lake facing room that allow us to look at the alps in the distance. What a view!

The Best Western Hotel du Beaulac is perfectly located on the port.. It is close enough to walk easily the noisier center but also close to the best beaches in town. We had a splendid view of the lake (ask for lake view) and the service and comfort were excellent. We visited the Waves Lounge and Bar on the rooftop more than once and sipped great wines and ate lovely appetizers with a breathtaking view of Lac de Neuchâtel. At night the moon over the lake is a sight to remember. Highly recommended.

Don t miss out the new rooftop with it's unique design. A jewel in Neuchâtel. All the hotel has been renovated with great style and taste. If you wish a parking slot do not forget to book a place in the underground parking.

I organized for my sister and fiancée who were coming to Neuchâtel for a visit, the hotel, last week, including her birthday. Full satisfaction! From the wonderful superior room with terrace and lake view, where even the fiancée, a busy lawyer had complimentary wifi and business space to work, to the amenities. She is a very picky doctor who travels a lot and onls gies for excellence, and she was really happy! They tried the Lakeside restaurant, she went fo sushi, he for beef of the region. So cool as I am holding a prestidge card from the hotel she was offered a bottle of champagne and cake for the birthday. They also got a transport in the canton voucher, that included lake cruise and visit to wonderful museums, like the International Watch Museum in la Chaux de Fonds, what also allowed her to enjoy Le Corbusier arquitecture. A big thank to the hotel to make really perfect that visit of my sister. María-Elena

I have stayed in Beaulac several times and keep coming back. It is a lovely hotel with good rooms. The lake facing rooms offer beautiful views of lake Neuchatel. Breakfast spread is decent and they have a good sushi bar as well.

The night I was there, there was an extremely loud disco music from a nearby bar. It was absolutely impossible to sleep. I called the reception; nothing they could do about it. Despite an early wake up for work the next day I had no other option than wait until after midnight for the music to stop. The first and most important thing you expect from a hotel is a proper sleep. How shall be rated an hotel where you cannot sleep ? ... Zero ! For that reason it is a place I recommend to absolutely avoid. On top of this, after enjoying the noise from outside at night, you can enjoy the noise the maids do in the morning when cleaning the rooms. Icing on the cake, the maid comes into your room without knocking ! When I complained about the noise at night, I asked to talk to the manager the next morning. Of course such person was not available to talk to me... Instead I had all sort of inappropriate comments from the receptionist, basically saying that they were in no way responsible for the noise, that they could do nothing about it. Not a word of excuse ! Terrible. I told you

We stayed in Neuchâtel in early April . The hotel is in a great location and the room was fab with plenty of room for our family 2 adults & 1 child plenty of space with beautiful views too. Unfortunately the bar service was extremely slow in the evening and waited for 20 minutes for a drink at one stage! Breakfast was very nice with plenty of options and very friendly staff I would recommend this hotel and will stay here if I visit again.

Nice Hotell with a great view of the lake. Good service and nice rooms. Great breakfast! And a soft and nice atmosphere. Great opportunity to go for jogging by the lake. The restaurant in the bottom at the hotel has great food!

Stayed in the Beaulac recently for 4 nights. The staff throughout the hotel are very friendly and welcoming and could not be nicer. I had a suite/room at the front of the hotel one floor above reception. Board was room only and breakfast is optional, I distance breakfast every morning and they have everything you could want. The hotel has a small gym which is fine and a nice bar area with stunning views over the lake, very nice hotel.

Very good business meeting location with good meeting facilities, great view on the lake and the alps and cozy rooms. Bed quality is great, in-room breakfast on time. Nespresso machine with free coffee in the room and some of them with a generous balcony and a couch/sunbed. Would definitely come again, also for private stay

We have booked 3 rooms far in advance for 2 of our major customers to visit Neuchâtel. We received a voucher confirming our reservation. When we phoned this hotel to inform that we would arrive late, they informed us that they had no rooms available despite our booking. Moreover they requested me to send a copy of the voucher, because they did not believe me. I have travelled quite a lot, but this has never happened before. Conclusion: don't book this hotel, because even if you have a confirmed voucher for a booking, you are not sure to get a room!!

I stayed only a couple of nights at this hotel, and it's well located and the rooms are cozy. They have an interesting restaurant/bar with a great selection of food, including Sushi. I recommend this hotel.

I am dissapointed after my 3 nights stay. It turned out that my room had broken AC and even after my official complaints temperature was around 18 C degrees (outside was minus), hence this was not a warm stay. Additionally room 141 was above main entrance and you could have heared people coming back at night. So forget about lake view if you do business there. I will think twice before coming back there...

Stayed at the Hotel Beaulac for two nights on business. The staff are always friendly and helpful and the rooms are well equipped and comfortable. The only slight downside is that the restaurant is VERY expensive so I'd maybe advise shopping around for a local restaurant which might be more reasonably priced. Apart from that, it's a great place to stay.

Working late and needed a place to stay in city center. Booked a room online. Not directly thru the hotel. When i got to the property i gave my confirmation and was told the room reservation was for the following day. Actually it was for the day i arrived but i was early.As i booked the resv after midnight, i did not notice the changed date. When i arrived October 27th after midnight the front desk explained that the room was booked for October 27th. He said i should cancel online and i explained it was not cancellable but there are plenty of rooms both nights. Well thanks for charging me twice..Would not go back. So much for Swiss Hospitality!

The rooms are a bit standard. Not luxurious. But they have an amazing view over the lake. The staff are nice but not very helpful. The food is OK some dishes are so good others are just fair. I wouldn't go there again I mean I would prefer to try something new but I would also recommend it especially for those who like a nice view.

We have stayed in hundreds of hotels over the last few years big and small. This ranks with the best of them. The positives: friendly and accommodating staff, clean property and room, perfect location on the lake and walking distance to restaurants, good room lighting, fantastic water pressure in sink and shower, perfect strong wifi, large HDTV with English channels, good breakfast but very expensive at 25 Euros/person, fast elevators, secure bicycle storage if you're traveling by bicycle, comfortable bed, great towels and linens. The negatives: very expensive but, hey, you're in Switzerland where the prices are outrageous for everything. Prices are much more reasonable in Germany and Austria??.

It is a nice Hotel for business or personal travel. Has a very nice view of the lake in Neuchatel. I like the rooms very much. The business facilities are moderate. It has a good restaurant with mostly European flavor. Other restaurants with international flavor are found in a short distance from the hotel. The hotel is at about 5 minutes or more from the train station. Taxis can be ordered and they arrive after a short time. The scenery is very nice and the town has beautiful old good looking buildings and houses build on a sloped hill. Walking along the lake was a pleasure. If you love a quiet beautiful town then this is it. This town is also famous for watch making and they celebrated the 50th anniversary of electronic watches on Sep. 5th (2017)

Rooms okay but food - oh boy I haven't eaten worse food in a long time, if ever. They try to put their own spin on classics, like filets de perche, but the result is a disaster - defrosted tasteless substance with tomatoes from the can. A colleague of mine had sole - inedible as well. I also ordered starter that was supposed to have avocado - well, it didn't. To add insult to injury, the food was clearly spoiled since I had food poisoning on top. Do you think anybody apologized or did anything? Well, you guessed right - of course not. Beau Rivage and Palafitte are way better choices if staying in Neuchatel.

i was on the sixt floor and had an "corner room" the windows were dirty and the balcony had so many spider webs it was not comfortable to lean on it. the room was small but nice and the bed very comfortable. restaurant is ok - plates with a flair of nouvelle cuisine - quite expensive - but good in taste and service. the location is extraordinary with a super view (ask for lake view).

Very nice accommodations and wonderful staff. Amazing views of the lake and Alps- stunning. Centrally located and many dining options. Hotel restaurant and bar are fantastic. Parking on weekend is difficult but they have a garage that is worth the extra to pay.

This hotel is located right on the shore of Lake Neuchatel and the views are incredible. 5 minutes walk to city center, good restaurant and an amazingly friendly staff. The rooms are not very big but are beautifully decorated. Pricewise, it is not too bad. This Switzerland after all. You will enjoy this place, it is very nice.

We were not sure, however when we entered our room and saw the view we were knocked out. Staff were great, car parking underneath that you need to reserve as not many places. Our room was beautiful and as I said the view over the little port and lake were amazing, really could not have been better. The breakfast is also fab, with meats, cheeses and even smoked salmon plus a hot plate. Room had a Nespresso machine so I was very happy. Bedding was great and bathroom spot on. Could not fault to location as you can walk into the town in minutes. Thank you hotel Beaulac for making our trip so special.

This is something to be expected from Best Western, but it keeps up the standards of the hotel-chain. They offered us the room for wheelchairs, but even the normal room was enough for my girl-friend(kept in mind that she can still walk for a couple meters). Also the rooms are verry nice and clean. Like every other hotel they charge for a dog, but they even had a welcomming-gift for the dog(fleece-plaid, Some cookies,...) Their morning-buffet is verry nice. Not plenty, but enough. Diner is little bit expensive(kept in mind the price-range of the rest of town), but it's also good.

This is one of my favorite hotels. The rooms and facilities are super good and the (lake) views are hard to beat. Close to the hotel there are great sites, Chaumont, Creux du Van to name a view. The hotel provides you with a public transport card that enables you to travel the Neuchatêl area free of charge. Highly recommended.

We stayed one night on a stormy evening in July. There are 3 parking options. The local underground is pricey for overnight and you would be advised to reserve one of the few spaces available in front of the hotel. Our room was well furnished, the beds comfortable. The shower room was, however, very thought and the shower itself probably the smallest I have seen. The hotel is above the port so plenty of good views of the lake. Given the reason we opted to eat in the restaurant which we would not usually do. The tables on the veranda are tightly packed but you are better there than in the main room which is dominated by large benches. The food was good but a little complicated...our sole presented in the form of a Picasso!! Slept well. Comfortable beds. Breakfast was included and exactly what was needed. Code B&Q 95:5

We were recently on a two trip in Europe, and this was our favorite hotel! The town of Neuchatel is right on the lake. It's visible from everywhere, but you won't find a nicer hotel to stay in. We were there for four days and everything was perfect. The room is comfortable and spacious. We had a junior suite, so it was a corner room surrounded by breathtaking views of the lake and town. The room was immaculate, the service impeccable. The bar is right on the harbor as is the hotel's restaurant, which features a sushi bar and regular dining. You can have breakfast on the patio and see the swans swim amongst the boats. Everyone was friendly without being officious. The hotel is right across from the town's museum which is also worth a visit. You can walk along the lake side too and see the perfectly clean water! Beautiful!

The hotel is literally at the lake shore. Seaside rooms have a breathtaking view over the Lac de Neuchatel, at least when the weather is nice and sunny and in particular the upper floors. The hotel is clean, modern an nice. Breakfast was excellent. The air condition cooled the room from approx. 25 degrees celcius to nice 21-22 degrees in no time. This being the case, there is no reason to leave the air condition on the entire day. The hotel can be reached easily from the train station of Neuchatel. Just take the Funiculaire to the university and then take a 5 mins walk through a nice area close to the lake.

The best Best Western I ever stayed at! The room layout was unusual and the shower design you had to be careful not to flood out the bathroom taking a shower! Nice and helpful staff! Lovely view of the lake

great place to stay and enjoy Neuchatel. Very nice- great location. Wonderful terrace to sit and relax. Very close to city center. Rooms have a good size, very clean and well organized. The breakfast was excellent, wide choice of fresh fruit, granolas, hot and warm food. The concierge was very helpful

A nice a confortable hotel. Parking place also underground which is very good in Switzerland (Neuchatel). Food is good, quality in services. The room clean, the bed super confortable, the bath was ok, actually no complains. We stayed like 10days and we really enjoyed!

Stayed in a large suite (424). We showed up way early and we were still able to check in an use the room, lady at the reception very helpful. Suite was absolutely phenomenal, loved the modern style, everything worked well, three monitors, two bathrooms, very quiet. We had dinner at the restaurant downstairs, you need reservations as it gets very busy, I was hesitant about the sushi but it turned out to be high level, evidently someone Japanese working the kitchen there. Breakfast was wonderful, location is fantastic, just a great experience all around, very friendly staff. Just a not to be careful to reserve your car space in the garage, I think they only have about 8 spaces there. Highly recommended, will return.

Not much to complain about. I stayed for 3 weeks. Small parking but there is one. Sometimes its full so you have to use other parking space very close. I did not have to do it so I do not know if you get a discount. The restaurant "unfortunately" is well placed next to the lake, so its difficult to get a table and it is very expensive. Room service however has more affordable solutions and is fast. Good sushi at the sushi bar. Also usually you will come across the impolite employee, but not in this hotel, Quite remarkable. Suggested place to stay.

The hotel is modern and very clean. We had a corner room overlooking the lake. The staff speak many languages and they were really friendly and helpful. The town is just a minutes walk away, as well as the beautiful lake walk that spans for miles.

Excellent hotel near the lake and central Neuchatel. If arriving by train at Neuchatel train station one can take the funicular down to the lakeside (university station) and walk west 400mts. The hotel has been refurbished and has great finishings. Nespresso machine in the room/kettle and water. The restaurant on site is another plus

The view was awesome, and the hotel was beautifully decorated, and the staff at the hotel were so sweet. It almost deserve all "stars", were it not for 2 things: 1) The lobby smelled awful. Like someone dropped an entire perfume bottle. But it smelled like that all the time. It was a really "fake" smell, like chemical. You didn't want to linger. I pity those working in the lobby. 2) It's so FRENCH. The restaurant at the hotel didn't even have english menus. After this trip, I kinda started hating French people. It's a hotel, be international. But wherever you have French people you have people who wants you to speak THEIR language, and not English. English isn't my native language, but it's the common language of trade, and it's normal to use it for international purposes. But no no, the French don't want to speak the language, even at the hotels... They're so arrogant. See how annoyed I am? Anyway, everything else were great, except for the restaurant, which was SO French that even the servers ignored you.

The hotel is situated by the lake so it's really an enjoyable moment to have a lakeside breakfast. The interior design is modern and well furnished. I go to Neuchâtel for work so it's really a nice place for accommodation and recharge before work. Highly recommended.

A rare 5-star rating from me for this modernised hotel just by the lake. The interiors may seem a little overdesigned but our stay was comfortable and, by Swiss standards, very good value. Breakfast was fine, with good range of choices.

Renovated in 2015-2016, the hotel offers very good modern well-designed rooms. Excellent comfort. Very good breakfast with a wide range of options to choose from. Situated right by the lake in the centre of the city, offers a nice view either on the city or on the lake.

Stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. Rooms are clean and big enough. Free parking outside the hotel and during your stay you make use of the public transport for free (you'll receive a ticket in the hotel) and you can even rent a couple of bikes for free to explore the city. Breakfast is good but not that luxurious the Susibar however was delicious. Other hotels in the area have higher prices and are by far not as good as this one!!!

This is a lovely hotel! Location is in the heart of Neuchâtel right on the lake! The hotel is friendly, bright and clean and the rooms reflect this. They were comfy and the shower was phenomenal rain shower. Had I ask for an iron and ironing board but that was a small thing! Get a room overlooking the lake. One other small issue was you are unable to control the temp of the room in the winter and it was a little too warm for my liking. That being said it was an excellent hotel and I would definitely come back here again. The restaurant linked to the hotel was top class too with excellent breakfast options

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful setting, on the shore of Lac Neuchatel, Switzerland. Staff were efficient, friendly and helpful - our room wasn't ready and they kept our luggage whilst we went for a wet and windy walk to while away the time until it was ready! Unfortunately, we couldn't dine in the restaurant as it was fully booked - general public not all hotel guests, which is a little naughty, particularly if the weather had been chilly, wet and windy! Room service could have been used, but we didn't have dining facilities in our room and would have to have sat on the bed which would have meant we couldn't see out of the window to view the gorgeous lake and the mountains beyond, which, on that evening, were bathed in the light of the setting sun and the remains of the grey clouds. That apart, the hotel is well worth a stay.

I always stay in this hotel whenever I visit Neuchatel. Location is by the lake, few steps away to inclined railway that take me to main station and situated close to city center Place Pury and big dept store at Maladiere. For last stay (20-24 Sep) I was offered a free coupon to use all transportation in the canton on Neuchatel. We could travel to all regions for free. This is value offer than buying one day pass ticket which is limited to several region only. I used it to go to scenic places, walking trails and visiting friends. The breakfast menu is rather standard, but the laundry service is now speedy than ever. I recommend this hotel to be your top of mind when visiting Neuchatel.

We were very positively surprised by this hotel. We got a triple room with view on the lake, the beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was pretty good and freshly made. Service was very friendly. Location couldn't have been better right next to the marina, very close to the city center where you can find plenty of good restaurants and also not far from the funicular that would take you to the train station to go on excursions in the region. We saw people complaining at reception on the following day but we were pretty happy with our stay. I guess we were very lucky.

Spent a Saturday night in Neuchatel in September and the hotel had private party going in their discotheque with the windows open and the occasional drunk yelling out the windows. This was going unti 4am. Impossible to sleep!

Checking-in was below average. We requested a non allergy room but it was not given. Had to wait for over an hour to get our room ready. After entering the "Non Allergy" room we found out that the bedding had duck feathers filling. Called housekeeping and had these replaced. Room 136 was very clean and we had a lake view. Breakfast was average and what one would expect from this category of hotel. Restaurant is good and the Sushi bar is also very good. A good hotel for a day or two. Free parking avaliable very near to the hotel and also a big underground car park 50M away.

Room are not exceptionally nice or probably depending on room type. Stayed at the basic room and find it acceptable. Surrounding lakes offers soothing mood. Walking distant bus station. Getting around is easy to navigate in this small town i guess.

On the third floor with a great view of the marina and the Lake beyond. Fast free WiFi and a well equipped room are a good combination. The outside terrace where I had breakfast is spectacular . Breakfast is very good and the staff very helpful

This hotel has changed completely now that the renovations have finished and it is no longer a building site. We had a very pleasant stay - the rooms are clean and comfortable with tea and coffee facilities, and the air conditioning provides a perfect sleeping temperature. The rooms are now soundproof (or ours was) and we slept well despite loud music outside during a local festival. It is situated on Lake Neuchatel, which is beautiful and has several small (busy!) beaches, and next to a bike hire facility which is useful as there is a cycle track all along the lake avoiding the roads. The hotel provides you with a transport card which enables you to free transport within the Neuchatel canton, so you can visit the watch towns or countryside without the substantial costs of train fares. It means that you can catch a train from Geneva airport and don't need to go to the expense of hiring a car. The main train station in Neuchatel is accessed by a small funicular train within a few minutes walk of the hotel. The hotel is right next to the town with its restaurants and cafes

We stayed at this hotel for one night only and they generously upgraded us into a suite. There was plenty of space, modern amenities, and extra toilet, a table with four chairs and beautiful views of the lake. The interior of the hotel is quite dark and modern. The beds were very comfortable and be appreciated the dark curtains because the sunlight of the rising sun would have woken us early otherwise. Parking underneath the hotel is CHF 20.- which I find not cheap, given the availability of outdoor parking space for those who are lucky enough to get one. I'd return to this hotel.

Despite having an upgraded room, which was nice and very spacious, albeit rather dark, this hotel was nothing special. The air conditioning barely worked, access to get luggage in was frustrating and no help was offered, plus one of the two lifts was out of order. The one person on the desk seemed busy on the phone. The best thing is the location on the lake which is magnificent. We didn't try the restaurant as we were put off by other reviews on TA.

This hotel has nice lake Neuchatel view and is located a walking distance to downtown and 5 minutes ride to the train station. It is a best western plus, so it has a contemporary basic style but with comfortable feel to it.

Booked the hotel to stay overnight on a trip to Lyon. I proved to a super choice, location is a gift, hotel super, room wonderful and a well designed bathroom with a fantastic shower. The old harbor just beside the hotel are housing many small bars, cafés and eating possibilities. On a Friday night it was crowded with happy people, music and friendliness everywhere.

Our family spent 5 nights here while attending an exhibition nearby. We had actually booked into another nearby hotel but when we arrived we were disappointing and cancelled the booking. We then went hunting for another hotel and found the amazing Beaulac right on the harbour. We were assisted by a lovely front office manager named Joana who could not have done more to help us in our predicament. She helpfully showed us some room options and and they were all lovely. We decided on the junior suite which comfortably fit our family of 4 (with the use of the sofa in the lounge area). All the staff were very helpful considering our very limited french language. A front office staff member named Laura was also lovely and even noticed when I got a haircut! great attention to guest services. Once again Laura could not do enough to help us. I would certainly reccomend this hotel when staying in the amazing town of Neuchatel. We found it hard to leave!

I stayed two nights and two days at Hotel Beaulac, located border of Lake at Neuchâtel. I was granted a room at level 6, right in front of the lake - astonishing viewwith decent bacony. The room was very well decorated, with quality materials. The bathroom was perfect, with bath and Italian shower. The bed was king size - very clean, very comfortable. Size was very correct, not too big, not too small, for such a stay. Dinner was very correct, with some very good service. Breakfast was excellent experience, with lots of choices, quality bread and pastries. For the workshop, we used one of their conference room, Nothing negative to say here. Room was large and well equipped. Top service around too. Overall, good to very-good money/quality rate for the town.

I was in Neuchatel for the second time and my second stay at the Beaulac. The hotel is wonderfully situated on the shore of Lake Neuchatel and if you're looking to explore the Lake or the beautiful town this place is amazingly well located. Everything is a walking distance and if you need to get back to the Train Station the Funicular is an easy stroll as well. Rooms - Always fantastic, clean and so comfortable. The Duvets and mattresses make sleeping far too easy. Ask for a room with a Lake view. While a balcony would be great....and the Architectural design hinders the view a touch.....it's so fantastic to look out over the Lake and see the Alps in the distance. We had a slight issue with our room the first night and the staff moved us to an upgraded room for night 2 and 3 without hesitation - and no increase in charge for our original booking. Very much appreciated. Food and Beverage - I love sitting on the back patio (overlooking the water) and sipping on a cocktail of choice. The food is excellent and while expensive (hey, it's Switzerland!) it is very tasty and well done. Bar prices are completely reasonable and the service is very good. Other: We didn't use the fitness space......but the staff was very helpful. It was pretty rainy last week but the hotel had umbrellas for everyone. When Taxi's or other assistance was required the main desk got right on it. They could use additional staff at the front desk...but it's a small concern. Price point - while it's one of the more expensive hotels for my family.....it's well worth it for the location, view, and experience. If we make it back to Neuch we'd consider the Beaulac every time.

This is my third time at this hotel and each time I've had the same problem with registration. Despite them knowing I arrive from an overseas flight, they are unable to make any room available prior to 2pm. They point to the rule about check in time. Don't know if the rules are "best western" or "Swiss". Have had other issues in which they've been uncompromising. Really happy I will never have to deal with this hotel again. Otherwise the room is fine

My first time at this hotel. Beautifully situated on the lake, I was fortunate enough to have a room with a lake view. Rooms are nicely set out, clean and comfortable. Beds are good and there is a plentiful supply of in-room tea and coffee. The TV has a very limited selection of English language channels, but hey ho.. Staff were pleasant and courteous. My stay here was brief so I didn't have a chance to try out the other facilities, but I would have no hesitation in staying again.

I have been here a few times before. The refurbishment has now been completed. It is very pleasant sitting outside on the veranda overlooking the marina with a drink in hand. We didn't eat here this time but the food has always been good. the hotel participates in the free public transport scheme as well which is very handy

Each person has different priorities, actually, this is a nice hotel! Good rooms, good bed, good pillows.... Say that because I saw two rooms! The first 144 with an uncontrolled heating, minimum 30 degrees!! Without any possibility to lowering it! The second 121, controlled heating but an exhaust fan in my head with an horrible noise! The solution given by the receptionist: ears plug !!!! So that you could sleep!!!! Told me! My question: with this price per night is it normal ???? I am for business and just want sleep!!! ??????

I went with my husband one week for vacations. The hotel is situated in the centre of Neuchatel close to the main points of interest and has beautiful sights of the lake and the Alps. We liked very much the rooms décor, we felt as if we were at home! The hotel staff are extremely kind and they help us to organize a holiday planning so as not to miss any interesting place to visit. The restaurant has also a broad variety of delicious and healthy food. We are planning to repeat very soon!

During the past 4 years I have been using this hotel each time I visited for business Neuchatel, I felt so much and in love with this place, that even I was on business I felt in a continuous holidays all the time, therefore I decided to bring my family from spain once on holidays to experience and they were delighted. I was relocated permanent in the city after a while and I choosed it to be my hosting house for 2 months what gave me a real overview of what hospitality means for them, specially for me, who have been a hotel site inspector for many years, they got the points. As I live now in the city I followed up in details their restoration project and I must say a "bravo", as the quality, design and functionality have been planned in detail to make the most excellent lodgemente in the city, superriour to the 5 stars ones in town, by keeping that very well know service and quality that they have from the old times. Rooms are well isolated, modern and with very neutral and charming colours what make them polivalent for business or holidays, the suites are a treasure when you come with your family and friends! Regarding to food, oh la la !, the restaurant quality is top, fresh fresh fresh!, with big quantities, tailored food that combines the very tradition and seasonal dishes with the new tendencies, food for all!, I come often to eat there, this time will be next Saturday to show my German and Spanish friend who are visiting me how great is to eat in this lively elegant place by the lake with really reasonable prices for the quality. Sushi bar is also gorgeous, watching the fooltball much with lovely swiss wine recommened by Florian the metre and some Sushi is a must in town. Regarding to MICE, I have done plenty of events during the last year, and I was impressed by the dedication and level of perfection that everybody had each time I requested, they make my life easy!, Thanks Mr Maxim the GM, Mdme, Laurance from Sales thanks to whom I knew the hotel for the first time, Florian to always make the restaurant a gift for me and my family and friends, Boel for keeping my scandinavian background alive and the most and best organized events, thanks Anita from reception to be my Spanish angel in the middle of my international meetings when I alsmost forget my mother tonge, thanks to all to make me feel home! Last tip: rooms with a view to the lake are atonishing, but if I choosed many times the ones with a view to the city..., it might means this city has something to feel and see! This is the best place I have stayed in a long time the room I had was on the 6th floor and had a terrace looking over the lake. The lake had fog on it for days but when it cleared I was able to see the mountains. The bed is up on a higher level which made the bed seem royal. The room was cleaned everyday and very clean, everything is new, Chocolates on my bed stand each night. I can't wait to return and I would definitely stay here.

Perfect location, at the port, view on the lake, easy to reach, friendly staff, nice rooms, fitness room with professional equipment, outside terrace, breakfast buffet is average, good when offering off-season rates.

A nice hotel, right in the centre. Good staff, nice restaurant too. Some rooms might be smaller than others, so worth to ask first. Some has also a beautiful lake view... Parking is a bit limited, you might need to use the paid parking spots in the vicinity. Prices are aligned to Switzerland...

Newly refurbished rooms with free wi-if, new high resolution TV/monitor. Very smart decoration. Large bathroom, big bedroom (for a hotel). Reception ok. Waitresses at breakfast could do with lesson in taking care of guests (their attitude sucked). Dinner in the hotel poor because at 70% capacity. Hotel very helpful providing support for extras like flip chart to the room and monitor cable to plug TV into laptop. Shame about one duvet per size of the double bed.

I haven't been here for 8 years and it was nice to be back. Best Western now own it and are extending it by adding more floors and refurbishing it internally. The rooms are comfortable and clean and there was no noise while I was there although i arrived late and left early. The location is great and you can pay a small premium for a lakeside view. Used the restaurant for an evening meal and breakfast. The evening menu was varied and the food well presented and tasty. Plenty of choice at breakfast. The staff were friendly and welcoming

Good hotel recently renovated, we booked a superior room with view on the lake. We woke up withe the sun in our faces. Beautiful mountains in front of us. From the hotel into the city of Neuchâtel is just a few minutes walk.

I have stayed here for 2 nights in January, the overall environment is nice. The room is very clean and staff are polite. I also used the gym during my visit, it is clean and well maintained with basic equipment. The only shortage during my stay is the light in the room. It is not as bright as my expectation, for business purpose, I do need a bright room with sufficient light to do my works. In general, I really enjoyed my stay at Beaulac, and I will stay here again if I got another chance.

I stayed during the renovation works in this hotel for business travels. The rooms are big and had a nice view on the lake. Hotel staff is nice and helpfull with recommendations for diner and some shopping. Breakfast is extensive.

Stayed here 14-16 November 2015. My son purchased it as a birthday present and we had a lovely weekend. On arrival, we were upgraded to a deluxe room with a spacious terrace with a beautiful view of the harbour, boats and lake, The weather was great. The room had been renovated and could not be faulted. We had tea and coffee making facilities. As we were there Saturday and Sunday, there was no noise from the ongoing renovations. The breakfast was good and we could eat outside - plenty of choice. It's a 5 minute walk into town and we ate out there. Friendly hotel bar, helpful reception. Really enjoyed our stay and especially the lovely room & view.

The hotel is improving with the renovations taking place, but there is still scaffolding outside and work going on within the hotel. The builders arrive and commence working early, so it is not the hotel for a lie in! At least the lifts are now running though not finished. Our room was comfortable, but we struggled a bit with the new shower - turning it off mainly - and there was a permanent buzzing noise. Breakfast was good with lovely views of the lake, and the staff friendly.

We stayed here for a family week-end. The room we booked was a waterfront suite. Lovely room but we were surrounded by scaffolding and workers beginning at 7 in the morning. Air conditioning/heating units and cable television did not work. Booked a 4 star room, paid 4 star rate but not 4 star quality while undergoing construction.

Well at the moment I am lying in bed sick as a dog (which is probably making matters worse) listening to the most irritating tapping coming from the room above me & the whole hotel seems to be shaking from the use of the sanders, power drills & impact drivers!!! The whole hotel is under renovations!! The back & sides of the exterior are surrounded by scaffolding, every floor has carpet missing, unfinished rooms, loud sanding & just general building noise and with workmen randomly here & there! Some of my friends rooms are unfinished with skirting missing, wiring & paint work to be completed. The website states the restaurant is closed with no reason, well this is it! So is the bar & the kitchen (which was deceptively/weirdly left out when we were told of the bar & kitchen opening times upon checkin!!) It is completely obvious the owners, rather than shut down a floor at a time (and actually finish a floor at a time limiting the noise/discomfort to patrons to a floor at a time!!) have tried to keep this hotel at full occupancy as much as possible without informing its customers at all of such a huge renovation! We are in a group with 7 rooms which were only booked 2 months ago & confirmed a month ago. There is no way the construction on this building had not already started & it is so disappointing that in such a beautiful city & definitely part of the world we feel greed has ruined our stay! There was no mention at all of such a huge overhaul to the hotel when booking, and it's obvious why. I doubt highly if we were informed about the level of work going on if we ever would have stayed! The rooms & hotel will honestly be amazing when finished which is one positive note! A lot of money is obviously being spent on this hotel & it will be a pinnacle on the wharf when completed! The rooms on the front have opening windows but the view is somewhat obstructed with concrete pillars from ground to rooftop that we were wondering what they are actually for & if are going to support balconies for their worth?! The finished rooms are beautiful with comfortable beds, mini bar, kettle and are spotlessly clean. (They are just finished so probably has something to do with it!) definitely ask for a room on the higher floors (there are only 4 anyway) facing the lake. The sunrise & sunsets are spectacular! We were really looking forward to a drink in the bar over looking the marina which was glistening when we arrived yesterday & would recommend if you should choose to stay here in in least 6 months to a year!!

Arrived as part of a group on 20 on Friday 18 September 2015. Much of hotel encased in scaffolding. Temporary entrance with loose handrail displaying 5 star credentials. No bar or lounge . Temporary Dining room accessed past scaffolding appeared to be a balcony encased in plastic. Dinner a very limited buffet, quite understaffed which was almost inaccessible because the chars were so closely crammed together. The room was OK, but corridors leading to them unpainted, very dusty and half carpeted. Workers still drilling loudly, and to cap it all a wedding party that celebrated loudly until 040o0. I felt sorry for the staff working in these condition and having to front angry customers . I am sure it will one day be wonderful, but Hotel Beaulac should not have been trading in its current state. Avoid like the plague for now

I've just passed one night @Best western in Neuchâtel. It was not that impressive and hotel "under maintenance" ( upgrade rooms and structure). Considering all factors (price, location,rooms,breakfast)…its a good place where to sleep and stay for a business trip.

The room is nice and clean with a comfy bed and great internet access but they've been doing constructions in the hallway from 7am to 8pm! The shower is so tiny and small with no light on top! The breakfast is free and ok. Don't eat in the restaurant, the food is not good and it's too expensive! In general it's in a great location and close to the old town!

This is a modern, traditional 4 star hotel. The hall and the rooms are what you find in most hotels in this category. The position is, however, very good, so spend a few francs more and take a lake view room. The area is also very quiet, but still in short walking distance from the old city. What is not acceptable is that the hotel is under major reconstruction and they rent out the rooms as if everything is normal. The re/construction is possibly going to take many months, so you are well advised to check if the construction is still going on before you book your stay.
