« Sad, sorry overpriced maze »

We come to cannery row every thanksgiving to visit the aquarium. We have stayed for years at the Victorian inn and I finally have had enough. It's very expensive, it's parking is very expensive and very awkward, the services are indifferent. The breakfast is mediocre and the dining area is very ill-suited to dining, few tables, lots of places you have to sit with your food on your lap, it's always cold in there because they leave the back door open. Getting into your rooms can be a big challenge finding the right stairs and bridges and tunnels. The rooms are so so.with nothing views. The elevator is excruciatingly slow. You have to play with an old slow computer to buy your aquarium tickets. So this time we decided to try a new place we are at the Monterey Bay Inn, easier access, lovely rooms, they use their computer to buy your aquarium tickets, and it cost less money for more room and they bring your breakfast to you so you don't have to run around and try to look decent to go get a hard-boiled egg.while struggling to ignore the family trauma all around you. please understand this is not a one-shot deal, out of habit we probably stayed there 6 or 7 times. Even getting from the underground parking lot to the lobby can be a challenge. So look into the Monterey Bay Inn instead

    « LOVE This Hotel! »

Outstanding value. Fabulous location in Cannery Row walking distance to Aquarium and many shops and restaurants. We traveled with our two therapy pet dogs and were greeted in the room with dog bowls of treats, bottled water and handwritten note. Never in all my travels with dogs has a hotel done this. Room very comfortable. Excellent value. I highly recommend this hotel!

    « Gem! »

Lovely little inn, great value for money. The rooms are very spacious with fireplace, large TVs and bathroom. The bathroom perhaps needed a little updating, but everywhere was immaculately clean. Bed was very comfortable. Nice little balcony too. Excellent location very easy walking distance from restaurants and attractions. Breakfast good too-hot and cold selection. Would highly recommend and would stay again.

    « Great stsy »

The manager, Charlene, was very helpful! She made our trip even nicer. We had an eleven week old with us and she helped us select a room that made our stay even more comfortable with her. She helped by answering all questions we had about the area. The service staff was very efficient and courteous.

    « Highly convenient »

Our spacious and cosy room was on the 2nd floor facing the garden courtyard, therefore more quiet than rooms on the street side. The location is ideal on walking distance to the Cannery Row and the bus stops to downtown, Carmel and Pacific Grove. Breakfast was simply good, we loved the French toast. A recommendation for dinner: Bistro Moulin close to the Aquarium, with chef/owner Didier serving French dishes, tasteful and with flavor.

    « Convenient Location »

Rooms are large, staff is very helpful and friendly, and the breakfast is great. This facility is best if you get on garden side 3 rd floor. Many rooms have Foam stree views and noise. You can walk to Aquarium, Cannery Row shops and outlets in less than 5 minutes. In 155 minutes you can walk the very beautiful oceanfront to Wharf # 2 with all it's rest and shops and Hotels

    « Sweet Property~ »

Wife and I was here for a nightduring our PCH road trip. We drove straight here from LA on a Thursday night and arrived late into the night. The property was easy to find with it's own parking lot (parking was quite expensive but industry standard, and we were too lazy to find street parking.) The gentlemen at the front desk was very courteous and helpful. The check-in process was efficient and easy. Our room was old and tiring but it was clean and comfortable. The WiFi was extremely slow but We had LTE on our phones so it was fine for us. The bathroom amenities were surprisingly wonderful from bath and body works. Although it has an HD flat screen TV, but none of the channels were in HD. We had a great night sleep, which was the most important. The breakfast which was included was decent. From the hotel we were able to walk to everywhere we needed in Monterey. We left the next day to down the coast through the 17 Mile Dr. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we will be back.

« Very quaint romantic hotel near it all.. »

This property is older but very well maintained and is in the Victorian style. Gas fireplace, jacuzzi tub, etc. and clean. It could use an update but still very nice and good value. Service was great and they even had a bottle of wine on ice when I arrived! Very nice touch! I'll be back for sure..Thank you!

« Nice room in a nice setting »

The room is clean is reasonable size for a family of 4. There is a electric fireplace in the room. The location is just 2 blocks from Cannery Row. Do take note of the parking charges. there is elevator from the car park to the rooms so heavy laguagge is not a problem.

« Tidy and good location for Monterey. »

Friendly staff, room was clean and importantly close to Cannery Row / The Aquarium. chap at the front desk gave me some advice on options for running in the morning. Grabbed breakfast after which was normal buffet style offering. After checking out, they allowed us to leave the car in their underground carpark while we checked out the aquarium; which was great.

    « 25th Wedding Anniversary Trip »

My husband and I spent 5 nights at the Victorian Inn to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The location was the best - just 2 short blocks from Cannery Row and The Monterey Bay Aquarium. Take advantage of the hotel's relationship with the aquarium - you can get tickets for $10 off the adult price and $5 off the senior price. The room was big and clean. Our room faced the street on the 2nd floor. Yes the traffic is noisy, but later in the evening it calms down and we had no problems sleeping with the sliding glass door cracked open. Be aware that there is no air conditioning in the rooms as with most coastal locations, but they do have ceiling fans. There is a $15 per day parking fee, but it beats parking on the street where you have to deal with metered parking. There is a wonderful breakfast included (between 7 - 10), which we took advantage of every day. I would recommend this establishment for a great stay in Monterey Bay.

« Good location for Cannery Row »

Nice room and bathroom. Little balcony in the sun. Average breakfast but car parking expensive at nearly $20 a night. Just a block or two away from all the restaurants in Cannery Row and the aquarium. Not too far from Fishermans Wharf. There seems to be quite a few other hotel options nearby.

    4
« Easy stay in Monterey! »

The Best Western Plus Victorian Inn was a nice get away spot that is only blocks away from Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We loved the wine and cheese hour before dinner, the fireplace in our room and breakfast the next day. You do pay for parking but we kept our car there for a few hours after check out, walked to the Monterey Bay Aquarium, strolled along Cannery Row and had lunch before returning to the Inn to get our car to head back to reality!

« Perfect for our needs... »

After staying in Big Sur I wanted a place with a comfortable bed and a known entity lol. The best rest I got my entire Califirnia trip was here. The new addition of an oatmeal bar at breakfast was a very welcome surprise. This BWP location seemed to think of everything the weary traveller wants from 2 suitcase valet stands to extra electronics plugs in the room to wonderful coffee and smiling faces. The Inn is beautiful and the staff warm and friendly. I'm so glad we found it!

« Time for some staff training, or perhaps time off? »

It is rare to remember a hotel mostly for a staff member. But the young lady receptionist was exceptional: avoiding all eye contact, she droned on in a barely audible voice with an intonation worthy of a computer, and an expression that projected boredom so forcefully that my wife and I looked at each other in astonishment. Perhaps she has faced a recent tragedy in her life, but then please get some time off. Or is it just a lack of training? The room was average for this price range. Breakfast was on the sparse side, and with too little seating and room to move.

« Love this hotel for its affordability and charm! »

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel. The 1st time was in Oct 2015 based on other Trip Advisor reviews! This time was even better in that we received a great rate and they surprised us with a courtesy bottle of wine and chocolate on arrival! The stay also includes breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese. The latter we never had a chance to take advantage of because we are out and about! The hotel provides a significant savings on Aquarium tickets also, unfortunately I forgot about it and pre purchased them on Trip Advisor for only a 10% discount. This will continue to be our "go to" place in Monterey as long as they continue to provide this level of service quality!

« Quaint Victorian Shingle Style House that is a lovely inn. »

Enjoyed my stay in Monterey, and made more so by my accomodations at the Victorian Inn. It is a lovely shingle style Victorian and the theme continues inside. Close to Cannery Row and the aquarium and within walking distance to the Fisherman's Wharf. Breakfast is quite good. Long matches to light the fireplace were a treat.

    « Very nice »

So at the last minute my wife and I decided to spend the weekend at Monterey. The property is perfectly located in Monterey, walking distance to the aquarium, cannery row and old fishermen's wharf. It's easy to find, clean and well maintained. The room has a mini frig, fireplace, safe and is nicely decorated and furnished. The reason I didn't give them a higher rating is the lack of ice machines and the shower. It just might be the California water restrictions, but the low flow shower head was ridiculous low flow. I will stay here again. Enjoy.

    « Warm welcome & immaculately clean! »

A warm & friendly greeting from a charming man was our first introduction to this lovely establishment & as soon as we opened the door to our room we knew we were going to REALLY enjoy our stay. Two large & comfortable chairs in an immaculately clean room greeted us. This combined with a fireplace to sit by in the evening meant we could relax later on after dinner. A truly lovely stay.

    « good business hotel »

arrived at night but checkin went fast. breakfast is simple, omelettes, sausages and a good waffle maker. parking is extra. locations is just two blocks from the Cannery, price is half or more of the Monterey Plaza but rooms are similar. no fitness room.

« Less impressed than prior visits but adequate »

Probably my fourth time here. Reserved family suite but family was not well and couldn't come. Check in process mid to late afternoon w no one around seemed to take forever. I stood at the check in desk for about a minute before the employee acknowledged my presence and came over (was typing away at a nearby computer). The employee may have been sick or something because the energy level and eye contact was noticeably lacking. However everything was done right afterwards. The suite room looks like the others thus the styling is more classic and older but spacious. The rooms, bathrooms, tables were all clean. The kitchen area was sizeable enough w a big sink, microwave, larger than normal mini fridge (I think) w a small freezer section, some utensils and plates below. Small coffee pot. TVs worked fine- LG flat screens but due to the replacement remotes I couldn't plug in my Flash drive to play movies. Wifi worked fine as did all the plugs and alarm clock (nice little unit w plugs and USB port at bedside). Since it was the end of October and a bit rainy, the temperature was set perfectly. Note that these rooms do not have A/C so must keep in mind during summer time. Plenty of tables and chairs as well as an outdoor patio in one room and a long ledge sitting area in the other. Both rooms have gas fireplaces. It worked and was a nice touch. Bed and pillows were decent and comfortable. Again the furniture is on the older side but adequate. I never make the wine and cheese thing in the evening but went to breakfast on a Sunday morning. The layout is different and seems to be well used as they moved a big couch out of the way. I think there is more seating than before. However the food area either seems smaller or had somewhat less variety than I remember. I must have missed if they even had fruit there. I think they used to have other things like Danishes or pancakes but it's been awhile. Basic but less than before is a bit annoying. Checking out by calling downstairs if you used a credit card is fastest way to check out as they'll just email a receipt. Room tax is expensive. Parking lot underground has always been a nice perk as long as it isn't too crowded (not in late fall). Have never had a situation where it was completely full but close to it during the summertime or fall. Parking is expensive. Location is very convenient as it is a few blocks easily from cannery row and various places to eat. Despite the less than rosy check in and meager breakfast offering this is still a decent staple in this area. Have certainly given them higher marks previous but the check in (my only human contact during the stay) made such a impression i have to downgrade to three stars (I would give 3.5 for this stay actually). I think on a diff day I would have been left w a better impression as customer service is usually a positive point the times I've been here.

« Great value. Good location. »

We stayed here last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Short walk to Cannery Row and the beach. Perfect location. The room was clean, bed was comfy. There is a fridge in the room plus a coffee maker. There is also a balcony and a fireplace. They even provide cotton wool balls and ear buds. The breakfast was delicious. Sausages, omelettes, cinnamon toast and hot waffles. Cereals, oatmeal, yoghurt, fruit, tea and coffee plus muffins and bagels etc. Lovely decor and friendly staff. Parking is $15 a night. Free wifi.

« Recommended family hotel in Monterey »

The Best Western Plus Victorian Inn is an excellent place to stay in Monterey. It was recommended to us by some friends back home in Australia and we, in turn, would also recommend it. Our family of 4 stayed here overnight on our driving trip through California. Our room was large and excellent value for money, particularly as the room rate included breakfast. Our 8 year old loved the "make your own waffle" station and the large variety of available toppings. The adults loved the cooked breakfast! The Best Western is perfectly located - about 3 blocks from Cannery Row (which has lots of shops and restaurants) in one direction and about 2 blocks in the other direction to the start of the lovely bicycle and walking path that leads to Fisherman's Wharf.

« Top of the BW line »

At first blush this place is pricey for a BW hotel - until you stay there - everything about this place was great - start with the location - walking distance to the Cannery area - the people on staff, especially the gracious lady in the AM - she was very helpful in getting us located in the area and with getting Aquarium tickets at a discount on their PC - rooms are great - spacious - well furnished - breakfast was one of the best in the BW chain - we stayed 2 nites here and we felt so much at home - highly recommend this BW hotel - in fact, we fully plan to stay here again on our next trip to the area -

    « Wonderful 2 night stay »

This is one of the nicest Best Westerns that I have stayed at. It probably helped that we were upgraded to the 2 room Victorian suite above the lobby. It was decorated in Victorian style with modern amenities of course. The bedroom had a king bed, settee in front of the bay window, fridge, TV and the bathroom. The bathroom was nicely upgraded with 2 sinks, double mirrors, and a large tiled shower. The separate living area had a sofa, upholstered chair, tables, desk and chair, and a fireplace. The lobby is not large, but the adjacent breakfast area is spacious with a fireplace. The hotel includes a full breakfast buffet, and also a complimentary wine and cheese hour every afternoon. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The hotel is a fairly easy walk to Cannery Row and the Aquarium, and there is a $15 per night parking fee. The parking lot is under the hotel with a fairly steep entrance, so we were glad to park the car and walk everywhere, including an afternoon walk along the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail into Pacific Grove.

    « Served It's Purpose »

Booked a room on the top floor, street front. Yes, there was traffic noise, but not too much. They could use some dual payne Windows though. In fact, this could be a pretty nice hotel with some up dating. The room was pretty clean. Do not hope for early check-in. Especially if asking a particular hostess if early check-in was available. She was not friendly, or sympathetic to the needs of her guests. She did not even offer to notify us via phone once our room was available. Also, making all of the guest wait until 4pm to check-in proved to be inconvenient as it created a backup of guest checking in at the same time. We were not able to take advantage of the free breakfast. There was not enough seating, so we were forced to leave the property in search of food. All in all not a bad hotel, but because of the bad experience with the hostess and the failed seating arrangements for breakfast, we will not be returning.

« Terrific location and nice place »

Perfect location, we walked to Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium and to our restaurants. Yes you have to pay $15 a night parking but well worth it. The staff were friendly and helpful and we bought our aquarium tickets at the desk for a discount. Love the fireplaces and the cleanliness of the room. No AC but didn't matter because we had cool weather and we found that lots of hotels there do not have AC. We were there the second week of October. It was quiet but we had a room in the back section I suppose if you are on the streetside it might be noisy but there isn't a lot of traffic.

    « Excellent Stay! »

We stayed here four nights during our 2 week vacation to see California. First off, the location is perfect. It's an easy walk to Cannery Row less than five minutes. The website picture made it appear as if you were staying at an Inn. The only part that was the inn was the lobby/breakfast area. We aren't ones much for Inn's but took a chance and were happy to find out it was a 3 story hotel attached to the main inn. The room was the very nice with an inn feel to it. We had a balcony courtyard view as others recommended and you won't hear the street noise. The room was spotless, with a fireplace, big flatscreen TV, and was very spacious. There is a basic continental breakfast each morning. In the afternoon they have complimentary wine and cheese. I wasn't sure what to expect as this hotel was lower priced than the others in the area but I cannot say enough good about it. Only criticism I have is the lack of ventilation in the rooms. The only way to get fresh air is to open the sliders and there is no air conditioning. I understand the area is cool and not needed but fresh air is needed in the rooms. It is a safety issue to leave the sliders open while sleeping. We would leave them open until we went to sleep and then use the fan to circulate the air. This wasn't ideal but kept us comfortable. There was no lock on the sliding screen door and the bar didn't allow for the door to be partially open. I feel there must be someway to get outside ventilation. The staff was nice and worked hard to keep the rooms clean and the buffet stocked during breakfast. This was an excellent stay and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if I come back to California. This is an excellent value, especially if you price shop the other hotels in the area.

« Very friendly, great location, great facilities »

Booked in easily and staff very friendly. Nice welcome in room (bottle of wine and nice card). Breakfast was excellent and staff very attentive in reception. A great hotel in a brilliant location. Only slight negative - the additional $15 per day parking charge.

    « Enjoyable Family Stay - With a dog. »

Stayed for 2 nights during the second week of October 2016, in the pet friendly rooms. We selected this hotel, because they allow pets of any size, and we needed to take our German Shepherd with us. Most hotels in the area, that allow pets, have a weight restriction of 50 pounds or less. We were happy with the location and accommodations. There is a parking garage charges $15 per day. There is a pet fee of $30 per day. The hotel offers complimentary breakfast in the morning, ending at 10am. It is only a 2 block walk to Cannery Row. It took us about 10 minutes to casually walk to the aquarium. It is a 25-30 minute walk to Fisherman's Warf. It is only a block down from the main thoroughfare, Lighthouse Ave. Nob Hill grocery, and CVS are all within walking distance, if you need any supplies. ROOM: The room was spacious enough for 2 adults, and 2 pre-teen children, and a 70 pound dog. Our room came with a doggy dish, with some treats, and some chocolates for the humans. Floors were hardwood, so the room did not have any heavy pet odors. The living space consisted of a balcony with a small table and 2 chairs, 2 double beds, a single sofa, small coffee table, refrigerator, gas fire place, 42 in wall mounted TV, and large desk area with a rolling chair. Bathroom had 2 sinks, and a shower/tub combo. WiFi signal was strong, and consistent throughout our stay, throughout the property.

    « Highly recommended!!! »

We had a fantastic 4 night stay. The staff are upbeat and helpful, the room was spacious, with twin tables for light meals or conversation/cards, etc., and a very nice gas fireplace that could pump out the warmth. Breakfast is well-stocked and freshly prepared, the coffee was excellent, and the area is spacious with lots of seating. There is a really nice late afternoon wine and cheese offered (no charge!) in the same room - great for socializing with other travelers.

    « Very Pleasant Stay »

Victorian Inn is a very good establishment well located to all attractions around Monterey; it is quiet and provides a reasonable breakfast. Parking is available onsite BUT costs $15/day so bear that in mind. Parking on the street is costly during the day. It offers a daily Happy Hour of wine and cheese 4.30-5.30pm but be there by 5.15 or you may find they are packing up! There are several restaurants and eating places up the hill, down the hill and along the street towards the wharf. Apart from the Happy ?? Hour crew, staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms are quiet and well-appointed.

« Family Visit to Monterey »

We had two rooms for our two night stay. We were in town visiting family, and our group included ourselves and daughter and family. We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a good location making it easy to access the Cannery Area as well only being a 20 minute walk to the Fisherman's Warf Area. The breakfast was very good and the staff was helpful. The interior garden area was very well maintained and provided a relaxing outdoor area.

    « Basic but functional »

Loved Monterey and the best western was a good base- we could walk around the town easily- to the aquarium and to the harbour for whale watching. It was reasonably priced for what we got. Nice room- spacious with balcony and very clean. There was a small price for parking and basic breakfast was included. Staff were helpful at check-in. No air-conditioning in the room but I imagine this is not usually necessary as it was cool enough when we were there.

    « CEO »

The lady at the front desk Jackie is her name was hitting on me in front of my wife. The 3 days I stayed here I personally witnessed her have her kids sleep in her car while at night she would enter guest rooms and I wouldn't see her exit until morning. When she noticed my wife and I watching her she came over with a very strong smell of alcohol on her breath and asked if she could borrow some cash for gas. Very strange things going on here. I think I will skip this hotel in the future.

« Beautiful room w/fireplace, within walk to Aquarium »

Stayed here October 4, 2016. Chose the deluxe king-bed room with sitting area and fireplace. Check-in staff particularly friendly and helpful, kindly assigning two adjacent rooms (#303, #304) for our group of four. Nice selection for breakfast. Convenient on-site parking for only $15. Within walking distance of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, passing Cannery Row tourist shops along the way.

Location, location. Easy walking to everywhere. Very comfortable & above average staff. The breakfast variety of food was perfect. Was a little crowded in the dining room for bkfst but not for the wine tasting every afternoon.

« Everything great except for the view »

Nice furnishings, very close to Cannery Row, covered underground parking (an extra $15), well maintained facility, better than average breakfast food, and friendly staff. This is another very nice Best Western location. The only thing lacking was a view of the water.

    « Family friendly motel »

Spent 1 night here. Had a family room with 2 rooms, 1 with kitchen, dining and lounge the other with 2 beds and bathroom. Very comfortable and clean. Complimentary breakfast was great with plenty of variety. Staff friendly and helpful. 5 minute walk to Cannery Row. Would stay here again

    « Pleasantly surprised! »

I was a bit skeptical when booking this hotel due to an old Victorian house being converted to a hotel but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The room had a warm feel to it with a nice bay window, fireplace, and good location. Also the breakfast was very good by BW standards (good hot food like sausage, eggs, french toast, etc) and they had the wine/cheese hour as well. Overall would stay here again and recommend.

« Cosy, comfortable, quirky, well-run hotel near the centre of Monterey »

I spent a few days here at the end of September 2016, and stayed in the second floor of one of the annexes backing onto Mclennan St. On arrival, the underground parking is well signed, easy to access, and the elevator to all the annexes lands there. The reception staff are very professional, friendly, polite, and have customer service in mind at all times. I think the "honor bar" in the reception is a lovely idea, and reinforces the cosy customer centered approach. My room was spacious, if a little dark, with a small balcony which I didn't use much. Even on the second floor (the annexes have 3 floors) I felt a bit "on show" on the balcony, although I have to say the street being overlooked is not busy. My room had coffee machine, but no tea making facilities, and although the Hotel doesn't serve meals apart from breakfast, no facilities to cook or even eat food in the room. No crockery or cutlery, no microwave, or anywhere for you to fix yourself a snack or a sandwich. Room service is from an expensive restaurant nearby. A fridge in the room but no milk! One very nice feature is the open fire in the room, which you're allowed to light if you wish. That's very quirky but a lovely homely touch. The lighting in the room was a bit dim for doing any of my office work, even with the curtains drawn back. Breakfast was a decent repast, and there is free cheese and wine for residents at 4.30 pm every day. My bed was very comfortable and room very quiet. A clean, well-run hotel.

    « Best Stay Ever »

Started my stay with Breakfast, So much better this was than in the past! They have added Oatmeal. ( not instant ) it was great and the extras to add were a good assortment. Brown sugar, granola, chocolate chips, jam, nuts, cinnamon and more. The halls and rooms have had a refurbishment as well. Looking all shines and new. My room had a new mattress, nice and firm the way I love it. The staff always friendly and attentive ready to make your experience an exceptional one!

« Spotless, Charming, and Great Location »

I didn't know that Best Western had a varied portfolio of hotels, but this one is a Best Western Plus which is a stylish boutique hotel. I had room 230 which was on the 2nd floor of the main building (over the dining room and not the noisy kitchen), and had side views of the sea. The room is a suite, with a comfortable living room and an immaculate shower/bathroom. They host a wine and cheese event every day (I loved the apples which were in an almost unnoticeable brine which enhanced the flavor)...The bed was very comfortable and there were loads of openable windows (a necessity as there was a real heat wave - in the 90s with no air conditioning)...Note: in the closet there is a tower fan... This suite has no patio/deck, but it was just fine. At night, with the windows open, there was some traffic noise, so I used earplugs. In the morning, breakfast started a bit late (7) but there was an assortment - fruit, yogurt, cereal, and a fluffy (empty) omelet with sausages. I liked being about 2 blocks from the sea - able to walk to Cannery Row, the aquarium or Fisherman's Wharf easily. I had trouble opening the windows at first, but Victor kindly helped get them open (it was easy, actually).

Lovely hotel. Very comfortable. Excellent room and very friendly staff. There is a book at reception with the menus of all the local restaurants. Every evening from 5.30 until 6.30 there is a complimentary cheese and wine where you can meet other residents and get information about the area and where to go.

    « Everything we'd hoped for »

Our stay was 6 nights. We had a king bed on the 3rd floor. We enjoyed the balcony with seating for 2 on the hot days ( 88 degrees here several days) and the gas fireplace on cool evenings. Loved the very large soaker tub/shower and the fact that toilet and shower were in their own space separate from sink. Great big screen TV, good pillows and sheets, reasonable towels. The breakfast was wonderful each morning. Yes, always the exact same, but included French toast, eggs, sausage, oatmeal, waffle maker, boiled eggs, yogurt, toast, muffins, coffee and juice, apples, oranges and bananas. The ladies in charge kept it clean, stocked, and even if you ate late (nearly 10 am) it wasn't the dregs. In the afternoon this same parlor space has wine, cheese, crackers, and sliced apples. An easy walk to the attractions of Cannery Row, but too long a walk for my husband with a bad foot to Fisherman's Wharf but parking was not expensive.

« Avoid Room 231 if you want to sleep. Otherwise, a nice hotel »

Based on our initial impression, the Victorian Inn was a very nice hotel. The lobby and common areas were clean and welcoming. Our room was large and beautiful. It was one of two rooms in the main building, where the lobby and common area are located. We thought we were fortunate to have such a nice room, very spacious and private, with an extra large outside patio area where we enjoyed a glass of the complimentary wine from downstairs (the patio area was accessible to all in the hotel, but during our one night stay, no one visited, so it was private and enjoyable). The trouble began at 4:00am, when the kitchen staff began preparing for the complimentary breakfast. Unfortunately, they were located right below our room. The noise was unbearable, with constant banging. And the most unpleasant smell from whatever they were preparing filled our room. It was a nightmare. What was once a beautiful room, which we thought we were fortunate to get, turned into one of the worst hotel experiences -- and the worst night's sleep -- ever. Fortunately, we were only there one night. We might stay at the hotel again, since it was very nice, and in an ideal location, but we would avoid Room 231 at all costs. Had we not gotten that room, we might have been able to rate it higher overall.

    « Nice place »

I stayed for 3 nights with my son, daughter in law and grandson in adjoining rooms. The place was very clean and well run with a good quality 'continental' breakfast, although to us Brits this was more than we normally expect for a 'continental' including sausages, French toast, make your own waffles etc. The rooms were large but a little noisy as they overlooked the road, but it didn't disturb our sleep. It was nice to have parking beneath the hotel. We didn't have a view of the sea but Cannery Row (including the Aquarium) was only a few minutes walk, and Fishermans wharf only 5 minutes walk.

    « Cozy and comfortable »

This was my first stay here and all I can say is that I will be staying here again! Awesome little fireplace, nice size room, a ceiling fan, plus a portable fan (no A/C in the room). Bed was comfortable, place was quite, staff was friendly. Everything looked nice. Within close walking distance to Canary Row. Covered parking - you are charged $15 for parking though, which sucks, that is the only downside to this hotel. The free internet was very reliable and fast. Will be staying here again!

« Sadly only one night »

Very clean and spacious. Easy walk to the aquarium. The room had an extra sink area outside of the actual bathroom, which is always nice for two people. The fireplace was used since the night we were there it was a bit cool. The breakfast was better than average. And even though our room faced the street (ocean view), I didn't notice any street noise.

« perfect location and good place to stay whilst on a roadtrip »

Stayed here for one night and was positively surprised by the nice welcome (bottle of wine, some chocolates in our room). Our room was on the ground floor facing the patio so not much privacy, but we were on our way to Cannery Row anyway (it's just a 5 minutes walk). The parking lot is not secured however a lot of space and it felt safe. Breakfast was okay and like most BW hotels provides the waffle machine, yoghurts, eggs and cereals. People at the reception were very friendly and when you are on a roadtrip along the coastal highway I only can recommend this hotel.

    « Atmosphere »

Very nice and clean inside and outside.. Couple blocks away from Cannery Row, easy walk. Love having 2 bathroom sinks, a fireplace and outdoor patio seating from your room and even 2 big high back chairs in the room for you and your partner to relax in while looking at the fireplace or watching TV on their big 42? inch screen over the fireplace .

    « Lovely & Cozy »

What a wonderful place and professional and friendly staff. Just one or two heads up for other Travelers. First of all please let me compliment Rufus, who was very helpful. The good: this hotel offers everything you would expect for a stay at Best Western, and also at a Seaside visitor attraction. The rooms are very clean very comfortable and very spacious. Refrigerator and coffee maker inside. The grounds are beautifully cared for with lovely flowers and Landscaping. The rooms along the front of the property provide air a window and views of the neighborhood. Most rooms have a fireplace, which would be cozy in the winter in a cold Seaside area. Almost everything is walking distance calling tons of restaurants and tourist attractions. Okay now the things to be aware of which just has to do with the way the hotel was originally built which I don't agree with just because it's an issue for me. I like to have privacy and a breeze and air in my room. I don't like to feel closed in and claustrophobic. Erroneously, another review in this list stated that they have air conditioning. Please note, that although it's mostly cool coastal location, there is not air conditioning in the rooms. The first lady who helped me at the front desk whose name I do not know was a little bit Curt and snide when I asked about air, telling me to open the window. (They do provide a fan in each room.) If this is an issue for your traveling comfort it's helpful to know that the rooms on the backside of the hotel open their doors into a narrow walkway that face where people in the front section walk to their rooms . a wall. No Breeze no view no air no privacy. As a woman traveling alone, but it's actually for anybody, I found it unacceptable to have to stay in a room with the windows open into full view of anybody walking by and with the absence of any air blowing through the walkway. I will stay here again, as long as I am assured a room in the front part of the property.

« Great hotel in a good location »

Stayed here for 2 nights. Good sized, comfortable and well appointed room. Our stay included the buffet style breakfast which was simple but good quality. A nice touch is that they do a complementary wine and cheese at 4.30 in the afternoon this gave us a great opportunity to chat with other guests and find out what was good, bad and worth doing. It's in good location for the Cannery.

    4
« Walking distance to Cannery Row! Beware $15 parking charge. »

Nice place, really enjoyed the fireplace. We walked to Cannery Row for dinner. Only con is they charge $15 to park in their parking garage. If you're staying for just the night it's free to park on the street between 8:pm and 9:am. For as much as you pay for a room, you'd think they'd offer free parking. Especially on non-event nights in the middle of the week. We parking on the street for $1.50 and left early the next morning.

« Possibly the best in town »

Room was clean and efficient. Overpriced for a motel. On the beach. Reasonably priced coffee shop on the grounds. Main drawback was that the deadbolt lock did work as the door was out of alignment. CReception was courteous.

« This is the place to stay in Monterey »

If its not 5 star expensive luxury then the Victorian Inn is a great hotel and frankly a really marvellous place to stay. We were here a few nights between SFO and Yosemite as we wanted someone central to Big Sur Carmel and the Monterey peninsula. If travelling about by car it is a great central location. For walking around the Monterey tourist spots really good. Certainly is close to cannery row and all that is there. Excellent restaurants on the Row by the way. The rooms at the Inn are very substantial, the decks outside each room are nice, there is air con and a fire place. We were fortunate to have a room on the second floor in the centre facing the sea. It was a very pleasing outlook indeed. Beds were good and bathrooms very nice. Plenty of room to put things away if you don't like fossicking around in the suitcase for that elusive pair of socks. The 5 pm social hour in the dining area was excellent. Sharing a good wine and meeting others tripping about who were staying there was a bonus. Breakfast was quite good with waffles, bacon and scrambled eggs and the usual cereals and fruit. It filled the gap before starting the long drive. For location, quality and serviceability you couldn't go wrong staying here. Having now seen the Fisherman wharf side of town and the Cannery Row side, there is no argument that the Cannery Row side of town wins hands down. Yes we will be tying at the Victoria Inn again.

    « Nice place »

Glad we stayed here. Rooms were clean, nice staff and a great location. The included breakfast was the typical hotel breakfast andit wasn't bad. Everything was in walking distance. The only negative is their parking garage is a little tight. Overall it was the right place for us to stay.

    2
« Disturbed for neighboring noises »

Overall, the stay went from fine to incommode. I just didn't like the fact that we kept getting called from reception regarding the noises from our neighbors. As a matter of fact, even the neighbors weren't making any excessive noises. Someone with a migraine must have not had a good day, and been wanting an unrealistic silence from a hotel.

« Good Value in Monterey »

We were shopping around looking for something reasonable and clean for a quick overnighter stay. We were wanting something under $200 which at times can be difficult in Monterey even in the shoulder season. Fireplace in room. The Best Western Victorian came in a a reasonable price, nice clean room, good sized and quiet. The rate was $160 plus taxes and I would stay again. Walking distance to Cannery Row and many attractions. Good stay.

    5
    « Great location »

The hotel is centrally located between Cannery Row and Fishermans Wharf. The rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. The beds are also comfortable. They serve a nice breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese reception.

« Comfortable hotel, great location »

We spent two nights in Monterey and the Victorian was an excellent choice for a mid range hotel. Hotel is clean and well appointed with nice outdoor gardened space. The free breakfast included hot eggs, sausage and French toast, but the space was cramped. There is a parking garage that costs $18/night, should have been free. We walked everywhere, convenient to Cannery Row and Warf areas. Would stay here again.

    « Love this place »

Beautiful place to stay - great location. Refrigerator in the room was very inconveniently located and smashed finger were a frequent problem. The room was comfy and spacious, bed very good. No view but pleasant place overall. Great Staff!!

    « Lovely Place »

From making reservations to our stay all staff were so helpful and friendly. We were supporting a man in a wheelchair and this presents extra challenges; they were able to assist us and make the stay great. Staff were also knowledgeable about activities and restaurants within walking distance. Thank you all.

« Great Monterey Location To Park and Walk »

We have stayed at the Best Western Plus Victorian Inn several times now. You can't beat the location to do things in Monterey. We like to walk and by staying here we can park our car underground and walk almost everywhere in Monetery, especially near cannery Row. It costs $14 a night to park, but then most of the hotels charge for parking now too. It's only a couple of blocks from the Monterey Aquarium and lots of great eating places nearby. They have a nice breakfast that comes with the room and free Internet.

    4
    « Location and comfort »

Stayed just one night at the hotel. The room is comfortable and spacious. There ain`t many luxuries but it server its purpose. Staff wasn`t much friendly and seemed not keen to give information about stuff to do nearby. Location is perfect, close to cannery row and easy to get back to the road. Also very quiet and offers a fair enough breakfast. Parking is free and located underground.

    « Lovely »

Clean, quiet, comfy room. Attentive and helpful desk staff. Breakfast (free) was yummy scrambled eggs, waffles, toast, meat, fruit, yogurt, OJ, coffee. The location is perfect for a walk to the Aquarium or to the handy shuttle bus that goes to Fishermans Wharf. At 4:30, it's wine and cheese in the lobby. Our room had wine and chocolate ready for our arrival. We would definitely stay here again, despite it being rather pricey. The convenience is quality are worth it. It could only be better if there was a view of the Bay, but that would mean another $100 per night.

« Good location for visiting Monterrey »

This is a good place to stay when visiting Monterrey. Staff were helpful, the room was clean, quiet and a reasonable size and the breakfast was good with plenty of room to sit. The hotel was in a good location, being a short walk to the main shops and restaurants. Parking on-site was very useful, but this is at an additional cost to the room rate ($15 per night). Happy to recommend this place.

    « What's not to love »

Stayed in Aug 2016 for 1 night. Location, location, location sums it up nicely as you can walk to almost anything in the city!! From the moment we walked in we were greeted with wine, friendly service, loads of information about surrounding hotels, they even had all the local restaurants menus to look over and the morning breaky was also tasty . The rooms were also cozy and cute and very clean... We absolutely would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling Monterey! Great choice! Also a plus was the cheap underground parking only 15.00$

« Better Second Time Around »

My room was thankfully set back from noisy Foam street in front of the property. I love the TV ,fireplace and balcony provided. One of the phones in my room did not work and TV service was limited for a day or so for repairs. The breakfast was good, but not great compared to other places nearby. No free parking is a downer, but the location is very good to Cannery Row. Overall the property is showing it's age.

    5
« Would stay here again »

excellent front desk personal. Very helpful with places to eat. Enjoyed the complimentary afternoon wine and cheese. Clean room with fireplace. walking distance to Cannery Row. We would stay here again!

    « Lovely room »

Our room was extremely attractive and large with a fireplace in one corner and also had a balcony. The bed was very comfortable. Hotel was set in a residential area and looked more like a residence than a hotel -- very charming. The breakfast was quite good with hot dishes as well as pastries and yogurts and the breakfast area was also very attractive.

« Location is the best thing about this hotel »

This hotel is located within walking distance from the aquarium, fisherman's wharf and the main street in Monterey, where all the action is. This is the main reason why we booked it, we wanted easy access to everything, as parking in the main tourist area of Monterey is difficult. Our room was large, well appointed, but the photos make it seem more luxurious than what it actually is. Staff was very nice and polite and the breakfast they provide is not lavish but good. If you are looking for a nice, clean place within easy walking distance of everything, this is it. If you want something elegant, look somewhere else.

    3
    « Great location »

It's a Best Western in a tourist town, so it is not cheap (for a Best Western). However, the rooms were big, clean, and they have a decent free breakfast (good if you have kids). Parking is also free. The best part is it's only 0.5 miles from the aquarium. This is an easy 15 min walk (with a 4 year old). You can walk through the tourist trap or around the tourist trap to get to the aquarium. There is also a CVS 2 blocks away so you can stock up on water, snacks, or things you forgot to pack.

« good hotel, nice place »

Fine location close to the harbour. Friendly welcome. Large and comfortable rooms with good level of equipments Breakfast room somewhat small during rush hours. Underground parking just under the hotel and lift.

« Good location with character »

Had a one night stay after a day of driving up the coast. Good location, short walking distance from restaurants/bike path/Cannery Row. Parking is convenient. Room was very clean and had plenty of character with a nice sitting room with period furniture and a fireplace. The sleeping area was roomy and bed was comfortable with a large bathroom area and a large walk in shower. Complimentary breakfast was ample. Hotel right on street and our room did not have AC so we needed to keep windows open with fan, which allowed for street noise. Check in was efficient, however the front desk employee was indifferent at best. Overall a very good, not great experience.

    2
    « Try Somewhere else »

This hotel weren't interested in us. Our early, long standing request for a quiet location was ignored. We got the noisiest position they had. The breakfast facility is way too small. Other little things don't work properly. The potential is there and the housekeeping staff are great. But management and reception need to lift their game urgently.

« Charming and great location - but a bit noisy »

Stayed 2 nights in a 2 queensize room on second floor. The room faced the street, and was very light due to a lot if windows. However these windows were old, and any sound coming from the street when straight in. Especially at night this was a bit annoying since there is a bit of traffic. Assumption would be that this will not be a problem if asking for a room not facing the street, Otherwise very charming hotel with positive and helpful staff. Wine and cheese in the afternoon as well as good breakfast buffet with cereals, coffee, waffle maker etc. Definitely more than the usual best western breakfast. Located within a short distance to the aquarium - which was our main goal here. We simply walked there before opening time and back after spending 7 hours there. Also cannery row and fishermans wharf within walking distance!- both very charming and full of atmosphere, Good things: location, staff, room quality, breakfast Things to improve: better soundproof windows would make a difference. Stop charging for parking as an add-on. 99% probably comes by car, so include it in the room rate. Would stay here again if going back to the aquarium.

    « Wonderful stay »

This hotel is a great choice when visiting Monterey. The front desk attendant was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and very spacious and the courtyard was attractive. The evening reception (wine and cheese) was very enjoyable. It is a short walk to Cannery Row and the next evening we were able to walk to Fisherman's Wharf. I wasn't thrilled to have to pay for parking but the great location of the hotel was worth it. The only downside is no air conditioning, but evidently it isn't normally a problem because of the climate here. We like to sleep in a cool room so we opened the patio door and used the fan.

    4
    « One night stay »

The room was large, clean and comfortable. Close , 4 blocks, to the aquarium. Breakfast was ample and varied. The room was a little pricey but in the long run it was worth it. Very satisfied . We recommend this hotel and would stay her again. There is a 15.00 parking fee but at this stage it's necessary . Also there's a wine and cheese offering at 5:00 daily.

« Good value and a good hotel »

The hotel is centrally located in Monterrey within easy walking distance of nearly everything you want to see. The hotel is clean and tidy and the rooms are of a decent size. Staff are courteous and helpful. Breakfasts include a selection of cereals, granola, yoghurt, fruit and a hot tray-pretty much everything you would expect and want for breakfast. There is plenty of parking under the hotel. The long and rather drab corridors reminded me of the Overlook Hotel In The Shining but, fortunately, Jack Nicholson did not come knocking. We could not discover how to work the air conditioning so opted to open the sliding doors to the balcony.

    5
« Great stay on our way up the coast »

    « Very Nice »

We stayed here just one night on our visit to Montery. The room was very large and had a fireplace. Bed was quite comfortable. Included breakfast was tasty. Only down side was that balcony was shared, had some noise from folks in for a wedding. Floors are all hardwood and heard kids above (request upper floor). The hotel was very close to the main areas. A little walk but nice. In am was surprised when they compensated us some for the noise situation. You also pay 15/day for parking. They have wine and cheese in evening. I would stay here again, lovely hotel.

    « Exceeded our expectations »

Our family of four stayed here for one night and it was great in all ways. Big, clean room, comfortable beds, good shower, 2 sinks (for a family, this is a big help!), a fireplace in the room which was a nice surprise, and friendly staff. The inclusion of breakfast in the rate is super, and we were happily surprised by the variety of food available. Parking costs extra, but once you leave your car in the garage, the hotel location is so convenient that once you leave the car, you don't need it again as you can easily walk all around Cannery Row. We would choose this hotel again!

    « This "was" a favorite . . . »

Amazing how a simple thing, like a snarky receptionist can change how you feel about a hotel. We've stayed here on a number of occasions. And we were headed up the California coast last month, so we spent 2 days here, relaxing in the cooler climes (it was 112 degrees at home!). Had a great stay, the receptionist was helpful and professional. We scooted up the coast, stayed for a couple of days at a resort in Mendocino, then headed back south, deciding to stay at this Best Western again on our way through. We got in around 9 p.m. There were some people at the desk who were hungry and insisting that the receptionist arrange for their dinner reservation (it was a Monday night, all of the restaurants in Cannery Row were basically empty, but the hotel must have deals with some of these restaurants apparently, so a lot of effort was going into making sure the guests went to those restaurants. Meanwhile, I'm waiting and waiting, having driven 9 hours, it's tricky to figure out where to put your car when checking in, and overnight parking is expensive. Getting a bit impatient. My husband is waiting with all the suitcases, having got locked out in the courtyard because we didn't have a key yet. When Wendy finally turned her attention to me, I was tired and cranky and just wanted a room. She asked me why I was so cranky and I told her I was tired. A note about customer service, rather than asking someone why they are so cranky, try, "Hi, sorry to keep you waiting, can I help you?". Things went downhill with Wendy. She was having a bad night, so it made two of us. She was downright rude. I started to walk away, turned back and asked her for her name, she refused to give it to me. We got to our room, on the first floor and heard a herd of elephants overhead, obviously a family with several small children. My husband jumped in the shower, I headed out to get some food, stopping by the reception desk to tell "Wendy" that her passive aggressive move to put us in a room under a large family was duly noted. Her face turned bright red and she denied having done so deliberately. In the middle of the night she slipped a note under the door apologizing for any misunderstandings, signing her name, "Wendy." That's how I knew her name. Wendy went to great lengths to tell me how overqualified she was for the job of hotel receptionist, with a Master's Degree. I'm sympathetic, I want to be a writer, but I teach to pay the bills. But being mean isn't going to bring people back to your hotel. It's nice to have a place to stay that you like and that is familiar (close to the attractions), with good beds. But next time we go to Monterey, I'm going to look for a new place. I don't want to have to do battle with a mean-spirited receptionist.

« Great location and value. »

I've stayed here before and been meaning to get back. Although my stay was several years ago, it was a great experience. The location is great. You can hear the ocean habitat from this location. Not to mention it was a great value for the area when I stayed here last. The gas fireplace is a very nice touch as well. Nice managers reception. I can only imagine this place got only better by time. Also, they let pets stay!

I really enjoyed this place. Thank god for Trip Advisor that I can go on here and research hotels and activities. If not for Trip Advisor, I never would have found this hidden gem. This was part of my wife and I doing an anniversary trip up the California coast. When we walked into our room, we were greeted with a bottle of champagne and some chocolates with a nice note welcoming us and wishing us a Happy Anniversary. This was such a nice touch and was totally unexpected. The room was very nice. It was super clean with a very comfortable bed. It had a huge flat screen TV and was decorated very nicely. The grounds were super clean and we enjoyed the wine and cheese hour. The rates were great! Can't find a better place for a better price this close to Cannery Row. We walked to the best places in Cannery Row in only 3-5 minutes. This place was so nice and treated us so well. This Best Western will now be our hotel of choice on future visits to Monterey. It was wonderful and I am so thankful to the management and staff for making this special occasion even more special. THANK YOU!!

« Good price, and beautiful »

It's hard to say too much about this place. I've stayed at hotels, motels, and Best Westerns across the country and this one is the best. Aside from a price so low I thought the (kind, helpful, polite) attendant was pulling my leg, I was greeted with a spotless room, comfy bed, and a fireplace. Everything about the building and the room was welcoming and comforting. It seemed like the staff was attentive to each detail and knew what mattered to travelers. The next morning's complimentary breakfast was delicious. The hotel also offered free wine and cheese in the afternoon, which I wished I had time for. There's a parking structure in the hotel for the guests to use for a small fee. I highly recommend this place if you're staying in Monterey. I know next time I visit the city I'll be returning to the Best Western Victorian. P.S. The picture of the room on the Trip Advisor page is exactly what ours looked like. We didn't have a view of nice trees but can't have everything!

The front desk staff was wonderful. It was a woman with short hair and she wore a tag that said "supervisor of the year." Very accommodating and gave us a better room than what we had booked since we asked for a higher floor. We had booked through booking.com and I've noticed that when doing that you don't get your room choice. The hotel made up for that. The lobby is very attractive. Loved the fireplace but was surprised they trusted guests to use it properly. It was a great ambiance addition to the room to take the chill off. The breakfast was good. Waffle maker for kids. Pleasant atmosphere in the dining area. Our room was nice. The only complaint I have is that the pillows were too firm/thick. I can't sleep with my head so ejected. Get flatter pillows like down. Also, get warmer, heavier covers for beds. Maybe I'm spoiled by places that have a thin duvet. I'd stay here again. Much more reasonable prices than others in the area.

    « 1 night stop »

Only stopped over night whilst travelling pch. The room was very clean with a super comfy bed. We checked in early and our room wasn't ready but that wasn't a problem as we left the car and walked to the aquarium (which was a fun couple of hours). Breakfast in the morning was great had some toast and cereal before heading off back on our travels, would highly recommend.

    « Aquarium Visit »

This is a nice hotel for visiting Monterey area. It is walking distance to Aquarium and Cannery Row. Very close to lots of restaurants and the free trolley system. Hotel offers discount tickets to the Aquarium. Room was very large for family of 4. We have fireplace which would have been great for a fall visit. Outside courtyard was very nice for views as was the balcony. Free breakfast with stay. Low cost parking also. Staff very helpful. Hotel very clean.

« Fantastic Location and beautiful Inn »

We were a bit skeptic about a Best Western for our stay, but this Inn is wonderful. The on-site parking was great (although not included in the room fee), the breakfast was more than we expected, and the location is incredible. A great choice for our family!

« Nice hotel in a great location »

Stayed here for two nights as part of our honeymoon road trip. The hotel is in a great location close to cannery row and only a short walk to the wharf and downtown. The hotel was clean, staff were friendly. as it was our honeymoon they left a bottle of red wine, chocolates and a card in our room which was a nice touch. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is that there was no swimming pool.

« Close to Cannery Row »

Very clean, older property. A very convenient way to visit Cannery Row; park, then walk a couple of blocks. Our room was on the 1st floor. It was decorated nicely but the beds were tiny. Hotel was pretty quiet for the area. We'll return again. :)

« Fun Stay in Monterey »

My husband, dog, and I took a quick trip to cool off. The staff at the Victorian was very accommodating from the booking process through checkout. The hotel was pretty and clean, with modern amenities. The doggy bowl full of food was appreciated, along with the bottle of wine as a thank you for returning to the hotel. The free breakfast was good, but not the best. There was warm food, as well as the usual carb bar. The comfortable bed, fireplace was good. My husband really appreciated the flat screen T.V. so he could watch his baseball game. The inn is one block from cannery row. Will definitely go again.

« Great stay, great location »

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, which was in a great location for Cannery Row, and was clean and comfortable. The hotel was good little extras such as a wine and cheese reception, which we unfortunately didn't get to, breakfast buffet and fruit at reception. Would definitely recommend.

« Best Western Victorian Inn of Monterey CA »

The Best Western Plus Victorian Inn of Monterey CA has everything you need for either a romantic get-a-way or a family vacation. They serve a great breakfast every morning and have easy access to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the entire wharf area with many many fine restaurants and shopping areas. It is an easy walk to the areas and an exceptional bike area which runs from the wharf all the way to the beach in Pacific Grove.

« Great Location, walk to the water! »

This place is very clean and quaint with a wonderful hot breakfast included. The room was large with a partial water view. Friendly and helpful staff. Parking is an extra charge but since you can walk everywhere we didn't mind.

    « Our Anniversary »

One of our favorite places is Monterey Ca. We love Best Western plus Victorian Inn! Rooms are neat and well maintained. When my husband mdae the reservation he mentioned it was our 32 wedding anniversary. Well to our delightful surprise the BW staff went above and beyond!!! They gave us a personal written note card, bottle of red wine and a box of fine chocolates. This helped make our stay all the more special. We sincerely appreciate the extra efforts and believe me we will be back! If you want to be in walking distance of Canery Row stay at the BW Victouian Inn you wont be sorry.

    « Nice Hotel/Inn at Monterey Bay »

This hotel is really a nice, clean Inn. It's quite close to either the aquarium or the fisherman's wharf. Our stay was accompanied with breakfast and internet which is included in our stay, free of charge. Overall, the place is nice quiet, no problems or whatsoever and affordable. Would recommend this place for anyone who is planning a budget friendly stay at Monterey bay.

    « Great Value »

Stayed here for 5 nights, all the staff were lovely, room was the best we stayed in during our US holiday and the cheapest, close to everything touristy and not too far from the quieter areas, would wholeheartedly recommend this hotel

« Clearly the Best Hotel in Monterey »

I seldom give solid tens when I rate a hotel but the Victorian Inn is an exception. Though the hotel is a bit older, it is sterling. It is two blocks off Cannery Row and from our 2nd floor room we had an ocean view. The entire staff is phenomenal and courteous beyond words. The wine and cheese hour is nice and the breakfast is more than adequate. Our room was quiet with a great bed and a nice cozy fireplace. Well done B W Victorian Inn, Well done!!

« Best Western Victorian Inn »

We have stayed here on several occasions, very neat and clean, beautiful landscape, gracious staff, walking distance to Cannery Row, Aquarium and restaurants. We recommend this Inn to all our friends. You will get a good nights rest, the beds are very comfortable, rooms have fireplaces and you can request a Courtyard to relax and visit.

    « Always a pleasure... »

Every time we stay over night in Monterey, it s at the Best Western Plus Victorian Inn. The employees are friendly and helpful. They even make our dinner reservation at our favorite restaurant for us. The 4:30pm wine and cheese reception is a chance to meet the other guests and chat about your day, the area and make a new friend. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, lovely and the balconies with the view of the ocean are magnificent. The continental breakfast is filling, with something for every taste. Thank you and see you again soon!

« Carpet was soaking wet!! »

I stayed here with my toddler and found his socks constantly soaking wet the first night but I didn't pay much mind to it and thought it could've been from the bathroom. During our second night stay, his socks were again soaking wet and I knew this time it can't be from the bathroom because we had just came back. I started investigating and found 1/3 of the carpet in our room was soaking wet. It was so wet that we formed mini puddles from every step we take. Management tried justifying it with rain but shouldn't the rain stay outside, not inside? Grossed out thinking about all the times that carpet got wet and how moldy the carpet must've been. My baby and I breathed all that mold in for 2 nights!

« Great and pet friendly! »

This place could not have worked out better! The room was nice a large with two twin beds. With dogs, they put us on the first floor for easy access to outside. They have a wine and cheese reception. Breakfast is served in the am- nothing amazing, but adequate. They had a waffle maker, HB eggs, yogurt, cereals, bread, muffins and most importantly coffee. Our view had a sliver of the sea. Warning: EASY to bottom out in lower sitting cars when going into the below ground parking garage- they should have a sign! Great place! Would definitely come back :) The hotel also has discounted tickets for the MBA!!!

    « Summer2016 »

Had two nights here, the hotel was nicely placed to walk down into Monterey, the staff were very efficient and friendly, good breakfast supplied and in the afternoon between 16.30 and 17.30 they served wine and cheese which was complimentary and the wine was from local vineyards at Paso Robles. We went on a boat trip out in Monterey bay and saw, harbour seals,Dolphins and a Humpback whale close up,we really enjoyed our stay here

« Well located and adequate place to stay »

This is Best Western's attempt to upgrade itself from the run of the mill motel chain that it is and is definitely perceived as one. It is successful to some extent - first, the location which is walking distance from Cannery Row is very good. Of course, you still need to drive to Fisherman's Wharf or other things you may want to do or places you may want to see on the Monterey Peninsula, so it is worth analyzing whether paying the extra $100 a night is worth it or not. The facilities at the hotel are good - an underground parking lot (for which there is an extra charge) and a hot breakfast with a good variety but not 4 star class. The room is nice and large and nicely furnished - a fireplace for example provides some charm - but does not have great views or anything else. Overall, quite happy with the hotel but may stay in the city next time to save money as the benefit of the location is not worth the extra you pay to be in Cannery Wharf. One of the other Best Western's in Monterey may be a better choice as an example.

« Great central location for Carmel/Monterey/Pacific Grove /Big Sur area »

This BW is close to the Cannery District-easy quick walk .Very safe area. Check in was a breeze and the gentleman at the front desk was very attentive. The room, 305 was huge and loved the decor. All the conveniences of home: refrig, safe, iron, hairdryer, fireplace etc. Being a BW member we got a complimentary bottle of wine which was actually fabulous. Room with Lg shower was very clean! Very quiet. The WIFI and TV service were fine. The provided breakfast was adequate, nothing special but well done and the area was maintained quickly/neatly by support staff-Reyna was one of the attendants one morning and was always busy :-) Parking is safe and under the facility but there is a daily charge. This is very close to Carmel(10min) and Big Sur(20-30 min) Lots of areas to hike and explore though not a lot of nightlife immediately here but enough for relaxing atmosphere. We would definitely stay here next visit to this area. Since Big Sur is so close we would stay here and undergo the short drive to get further down the coast.

    « Beautiful! »

This hotel is absolutely gorgeous. I've been wanting to stay here for a while (I'm a big fan of the Victorian style.) Our stay was relaxing. Hotel front desk lady was very nice. Room was clean. We had a nice balcony and could see a bit of the ocean. The bed sagged a bit on one side and was a bit soft for us firm bed sleepers but I still slept soundly. This hotel is also within walking distance of cannery row so lots of dining and shopping options. They also allow you to park there until 4pm after your check-out so the fact that the hotel charges for parking is acceptable.

    5
    « Restful as needed »

Very restful and due to that we even took in a visit to the aquarium. The hotel help on that too save money as well sold as the tickets right in the lobby after a great breakfast. The hotel is close so we walked close to the water front very nice.

« Perfect choice for us! »

We loved this hotel! Location is perfect--easy walking distance to Cannery Row and Fisherman's Wharf and, if you don't mind just a bit of a longer walk, old town Monterey. Our room was beautiful, appointed with dark wood furniture, a fireplace, and a private balcony. Breakfast is advertised as "coffee and pastries," but that's not true: it's actually coffee, tea, pastries, eggs, sausage, french toast, waffles, yogurt, the works! There's also a small cheese, fruit, and wine reception every evening. Both breakfast and reception are included in the price. Everyone was very pleasant and helpful, our room was spotless, wi-fi was solid. They even had some goodies waiting in our room because I had let them know it was our anniversary. I can't imagine staying right down on Cannery Row for twice the price--this Inn has everything we could have wanted, at very reasonable rates. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.

« Excellent location for a very comfortable hotel »

We spent the last 3 nights of our holiday here, having driven up the PCH from San Diego. The hotel is a couple of blocks from Cannery row and a pleasant walk to Fisherman's Wharf. So, a good position for us tourists. Also the car park was easily accessible from the street and from one's room. It was a relief to pull in after a longish drive. Our room was spacious and comfortable with a couple of chairs and a table. Which is definitely a 'nice to have' . Free breakfast was adequate and the staff were very helpful. It has a 'business centre' whioch enabled me to check in to my International flights quite easily on our last day. We were pleased to have chosen the Victoria Inn for our stay in Monterey.

« Desk staff not helpful or knowable. »

Asked young woman at the desk the following: Where is the ice machine? Answer, as she points to the wall behind her "Just behind this wall". I found out that this meant out the Inn to the end of the courtyard . Upon checking out I asked the same person for directions to route 68. Answer, "I'm not from around here, and I am directionally challenged " No air conditioning, small old elevators plus $15.00 a day for parking. Good location, above from Cannery Row, which means you have to walk uphill to return to the hotel. Nice choices for breakfast, and don't miss the Happy Hour in the afternoon. Wine and cheese served. Housekeeping staff very helpful and polite.

    5
    « Commendable »

We spent 3 nights here and felt very comfortable. Breakfast was basic but good, rooms very good and beds likewise, staff very courteous, location very good. One little issue (and NOT exclusive to this establishment)the decoding of room swipe cards because you store them "near" your cell phone or other cards....a bit of a pain. All in all, good value for money.

    5
« Friendly staff, comfortable clean room and close to great restaurants and attractions »

We spent two nights. We found the room to be clean and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. So nice having the breakfast buffet and evening wine and cheese. The hotel is conviently located. It's a Short walking distance to great restaurants and attractions at Cannery Row. We will stay there again and recommend to friends.

« Do you want the good news first? »

We just stayed at this hotel over Memorial Day weekend. Normally I wouldn't choose a BW, but because of the reviews and the "plus" I decided to give it a try. The location was great. Very close to The Presidio where our son is stationed and close to Cannery Row, etc, without being too close. The grounds are lovely and the room was fairly nice for a BW, although the bathrooms could use a major update. My biggest problem was the cheap construction which meant it was very loud. We could hear every step our upstairs neighbors made along with people talking, dogs barking, kids screaming, etc. For $278 a night I expected more. The breakfast buffet was OK, but I'm not a huge fan of breakfast buffets so I'm probably not the best judge. I will find a different hotel in our next visit.

« A very comfortable and friendly hotel »

The hotel staff is very friendly and the rooms are spacious. Many of the rooms have a fireplace and an outdoor patio. Each day wine and cheese is served from 4:30 to 5:30 PM. The breakfast in the morning is very nice with good variety in which to choose. The hotel smell very clean both in the public areas as well in the rooms. The rooms have two sinks for plenty of room to spread your toiletry items. The only concerns are that the rooms have no air conditioning for ventilation and the beds are a bit hard. The hotel provides a room fan for ventilation that works well most of the time. If the summer becomes hot (over 80 degrees) the room can get a bit stuffy.

    « Victorian Inn »

What a great place to stay; an absolute gem! The parking situation was great and safe and this hotel is a terrific location to access the local shops and restaurants as well as the aquarium. The staff are great and they include a breakfast.

    « wonderful experience »

This hotel is very welcoming. Our room was very nice and clean, bed was comfortable. The breakfast was a great way for us to start our day and we also enjoyed the cheese and wine reception in the afternoon. We had a wonderful experience and would recommend this hotel to anyone in the area. My husband and I walked to Cannery Row and Fisherman's wharf during our stay. I highly recommend this hotel.

    « Very Satisfied visit »

Everything about this establishment is first class. Each and every employee from the manager to the grounds keepers have always been courteous and well dressed. We have stayed here several times and would not think of staying else where while in Monterey. I have and will continue to. reccomend this establishment to others

« Good location, interesting hotel »

Interesting hotel design, walking distance to Cannery Row, and room was clean and nice. When we arrived, the hotel was having a wine and cheese hour, and the breakfast was good. Our room had a private balcony and the breakfast had trays available so we could take breakfast up to our balcony, which was lovely. Paid parking available.

« Perfect for foggy evenings »

Lovely fireplace in the rooms. Nice breakfast and evening receptions. Beds were comfortable and rooms clean. It is within walking distance of the aquarium and some very nice restaurants. They charge $10 for parking, but that is standard for the area.

« Wonderful stay at the Best Western »

My partner and I spent one night at the Victoria Inn after driving up the coast from Santa Barbara. The Inn is situated in a great location just a few hundred meters from Cannery Row, the Monterey Aquarium, the Monterey Coastal Trail and a great breakfast spot (Waves Cafe). We found the check-in process to be smooth, efficient and convenient. We were situated on the second floor and had a lovely little balcony overlooking a small garden. The room was clean and super spacious! We had 4 large suitcases and had enough space to put them all in the room. The bed was king sized and super comfortable. There was also a gas fireplace in the room that was a lovely addition to enjoy of an evening. The bathroom was clean, the shower pressure was good and there were two seperate sinks which we found very useful for us both to get ready for the day at the same time. The hotel is pet friendly and we saw many families enjoying trips with their pets. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Best Western and will definitely return when in Monterey again.

    « Noisy....... »

Booked here as it seemed to be the best deal available in expensive Monterrey (though not as expensive as Camel....) and because it was a Best Western 'Plus' hotel, whatever that means. Though the staff were very pleasant, I'm afraid the rest was a let down. The whole place is in need of a total revamp, tired carpets, marks everywhere on the walls and areas not cleaned while we were there. Our room, which not only had chipped tiles in the bathroom but also a cracked sink, had front windows that were only single pane (apparently they can't be changed due to the building age, really...) so the road noise was awful as the road was surprisingly extremely busy most of the time. NO air conditioning, just a fan which just moved the hot air around... Breakfast was good considering the size of the prep kitchen they have but the far to small seating area is not condusive for lingering too long, which we also found with their (too early) cheese & wine soiree. Positive was a complementary bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival in our room but what we would really have appreciated after a long drive, would have been a bottle of water, which was only available from reception at an extra cost, even though we are BW members...... Parking was an extra $15 charge per night, though this was waived from the bill because I complained about the road noise but what really wound me up is that I was charged an extra $60 for the second night as it was a Friday night, when I felt the weekly rate far too high for what I received anyway. WiFi was free but not the greatest as it dropped out all the time. So I feel really this hotel had a motel feeling and should be called a 'minus' rather then a 'plus'

« Great property for a stay in Monterey, CA and Cannery Row!! »

Victorian Inn is a wonderful property to choose for your stay while visiting the Monterey, Ca. area and especially the Cannery Row. It is close in proximity to the Aquarium, the wharf, many fine restaurants and shops and sites to see. Once there, you can walk around to almost anywhere to enjoy your trip and activities. The Victorian Inn has been there for a very long time, is well maintained and the services and staff are wonderful. Strongly recommend choosing this property for your stay while in the area. Nice wine reception each day in the afternoon is a nice touch as well.

« Great place to stay in Monterey! »

We stayed here during our road trip up the coast of California. I wasn't completely sold on it but because of the good reviews decided to try it. We were not disappointed! The location is fantastic and the staff friendly. They also have a wine and cheese hour in the afternoon which was night. I would recommend a stay here if in the area!

    « Best Kept Secrett »

This is one of the nicest hotels around it is in the best location in Monterey it is close to the Cannery and Wharf and Aquaruim. It has a wine and cheese time and great breakfast. The rooms are very nice, we had a fireplace in it and a great balcony. They are a good size.

    5
« Clean rooms and friendly staff »

Everything was very clean, beds were comfortable and the staff were polite and courteous. It was also within walking distance from Canary Row and other locations. I stayed on a Friday night and it was quiet and very relaxing. Will definitely stay here again.

    « Quaint Victorian Inn »

The Victorian Inn is an gem of a hotel in central Monterey, CA - close to the Aquarium & Cannery Row. The real bonus is the staff - they are wonderful. They offer a wine & cheese at night & a great breakfast each day. We are repeat customers & would not stay anywhere else.

    5
« Large yet still personal »

Much larger than you think from their website yet this place still felt small and friendly. There is a large car park under the hotel just under the hotel before you get to the main entrance and a smaller car park around the side with disabled bays. Small reception area but staff were friendly and professional. Processed and in room very quickly. You obtain your parking permit for the paid parking when you check in. The room which we had was large, very well equipped and with a comfortable bed. It is with a short walk of all the attractions and local restaurants. Early evening late afternoon they provide wine and snacks in their breakfast area and of course the following morning a decent breakfast is on offer. An ideal base for the local area

    « Nice hotel, Convenient »

Easy to get to, walking distance to Cannery Row, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and other attractions. Very nice hotel in good location. Very clean, extremely helpful and friendly staff, nicely maintained. Fireplace in room even though we were first floor street side, it was quiet. Fireplace made great ambience for us. Very good morning buffet breakfast. Hotel will let you keep your car in the garage until late on check out day so we could walk to Cannery Row without trying to find parking and pay additional parking fees at Cannery Row lots. This is a great place for a couple to spend a romantic evening together. Mind you this isn't the St. Regis or Four Seasons, but for the price, value, convenience, location and level of service this is an outstanding value. We will definitely stay there again when we go back to Monterey.

    « Location! Location! »

The hotel was easy to find - right near Cannery Row. You can buy your Monterey Bay Aquarium tickets at the front desk - great convenience! The breakfast was very well organized - eggs, waffles, French toast, cereal, juice, toast, yogurt - apples, oranges, and bananas. They are pet friendly.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

I've stayed in other Best Westerns and found them pretty much the same. However, this one was comfortable, charming and with fireplaces in the rooms. Good value and two blocks from the Cannery and the Monterey Bay Aquarium

    « Great for a night out »

Nice perfect spot. Walking distance from restaurants. Very nice and clean.. Staff was helpful and courteous. Would stay here again. Room with the king size bed was great. Comfy. Clean. Breakfast was good. It wasn't loud on the morning as I expected. Calm.

    3
    « Weekend Getaway »

The elements were all there - a fireplace, small balcony, reasonably comfortable bed, large television, large desk area, wine & cheese in the afternoon. However, they just didn't provide anything more than an average stay at a chain hotel. For the price of the rooms, I expected more in the quality of each element. Blanket and bedspread were quite thin, wine & cheese was skimpy and quality of TV reception was poor.

    4
    « Victorian Inn »

Spent a Saturdsy night here after attending a wedding. Great location near Cannery Row and Aquarium. Convenient underground parking. Clean quiet courtyard room. Gas fireplace was a nice touch but we didn't use it. Bathroom was old but functional with an extra sink outside the bathroom. Breakfast included hot eggs, sausage, and French toast as well as a waffle maker.

    5
« Great for walking trip »

Located close enough to the attractions but not in the midst of the crowds. Rooms are nicely decorated, grounds are well maintained and planted, and staff is helpful. Good hot breakfast buffet. Eating area has been redesigned to accommodate additional people. Front desk staff are knowledgable about the area and offerings. Guests are from around the world.

    « good value / great location »

This is a bit older hotel in nice condition with a very comfortable feel. It is reasonably priced and a good value in comparison to the the fancy Cannery Row hotels. Modest sized and very friendly, within walking distance of every thing on Cannery Row. It's our first choice in Monterey.

« Pleasant stay in Monterey »

My wife and I only stayed one night during our drive down the coast. The room was of decent size and well appointed for a moderately priced room. Although we did not use it, the in-room fireplace was a nice touch. We did upgrade to a room with a balcony and found it enjoyable for both a late night cocktail as well as a relaxing place to enjoy coffee in the morning. Some of our experiences: Wifi was free and reasonably fast Parking ($15/day) - garage has elevator and is well lit Small, but nice, courtyard with tables and chairs for outdoor leisure No water views Short walk to cannery row and waterfront shops/restaurant Comfortable bed and linens/towels were of good quality Afternoon reception offered red and white wine, no beer. Lemonade and ice tea. Cheese and crackers Breakfast buffet offerings (included): Hot: 1 chafing dish of French toast, eggs and sausage (heat and serve food service type of preparation) Cold: Hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereals Basic Pasties, English muffins, regular and raisin breads, jellies Small selection of fresh fruit Coffee, tea, juices, milk

    « Very nice »

Stayed with family for birthday weekend. Nice rooms with fireplace and good amount of space. Dinning/Lobby area is comfortable even tho it's small. Cozy is a good word. Managers wine n cheese reception is nice. Breakfast is standard fair minus waffle maker. Coffee is good! Off the beaten path but close enough to walk to cannery row and local attractions. Def recommend!

    « Loved it! »

My partner and I stayed here for a romantic weekend getaway. The room was spacious. The reservations desk clerks were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was centrally located, not very far from the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We loved our experience there and would not hesitate to go back.

« Nice Place in Monterey »

I stayed here as a solo traveler (adding pleasure travel onto a business trip). The check-in experience was perfect. I arrived just in time for the 4:30 to 5:30 wine and cheese offering, which was great after a day of travel. My room was lovely on the first floor. It was very clean and quiet and had all the amenities I needed, including free Wi-Fi that worked well. The front desk staff was helpful with directions and restaurant suggestions. Breakfast the next day was quite a nice surprise -- hot buffet of eggs, French toast and sausages -- as well as muffins, etc. I was checking out that day, but was able to leave my car parked in their garage until 4:00 p.m. which allowed ample time for another day on the town. The front desk also held my luggage until 4:00 p.m., so I didn't have to leave it in the car. The location is excellent - only a block or so away from Cannery Row and less than a mile to Fisherman's Wharf. The location is safe as well. A very nice place to stay in Monterey.

« awesome location and service! »

Booked last minute and ended up in a spacious room that was perfect. After a long day of hikes along Hwy 1 this offered a clean room with breakfast the next day and parking on site. 5 min walk to Cannery Row. Nice of them to let you leave your car in the garage until 4 with a noon checkout. The location is great so while we didn't need to do that it's good to know and will take advantage next trip! Super friendly service at the desk and highly recommend.

    « Very nice! »

I am a Best Western Plus convert. The Best Western Plus Victorian Inn does not disappoint. Stayed here for spouse's milestone birthday. Enjoyed staying in a beautiful King room with fireplace, balcony, seating area, peak of ocean. Front desk staff were very nice and accommodating. They suggested a Local fresh Seafood restaurant down the street. Delicious food! Walking distance to downtown shops and aquarium. Easy/inexpensive parking. Away from noisy, crowded, tourist downtown. Perfect.

« Great place to stay »

We have stayed here in the past. Each and every staff member is friendly and eager to be helpful. This includes the housekeepers as well. The layout of this motel is so unlike being in a motel . It is very comforting. It is like coming home each time we visit Monterey.

    5
    « Very Nice Stay »

We had a very nice stay here! The friendly receptionist upgraded our family to family suite which provided us with two rooms, vaulted ceiling, and ample space. Walking distance to lovely pier and restaurants. Continental breakfast was very good, exceeding that of most hotels and they offer a nice, complimentary wine and cheese hour.

    4
« Nice place to stay near the acquarium »

Very convenient place to stay near the aquarium. You can walk there on Cannery Row in 10 mins. They had some cheese, apples, wine and lemonade every night as well as a full breakfast. Eggs, sausage, french toast, muffins, etc. Rooms were very nice with fireplace. Free internet. You can park underneath the hotel for $15 a night/car. We got there early to go to the aquarium and our room was ready so we could also check in. Very clean and nice. Gas fireplace was a nice added touch. Liked the sink outside the bathroom as well as sink in the bathroom area. Great place to stay. Only suggestion would be to have more table and chairs for breakfast while there were none free when we came down. Loved having the 2 day tickets to the aquarium through them for the same price of the one day cost. Would def stay here again. Everyone was very helpful.

    5
    « Wonderful Monterey »

Victorian Inn employees were very kind and our room was very clean. Short walks to shopping at Cannery Row and to Peet's Coffee at the waterfront. The Fisherman's Wharf was easy to go to by automobile and sandy beach access was just north of the wharf.

« Great customer service and fabulous room »

Just came back from visiting Monterey where my son was in the Jazz festival this weekend. We checked in and received an upgrade to a 3rd floor room with a vaulted ceiling, fireplace and ocean view. Lovely breakfast which was perfect to start the day and get to Downtown for jazz concerts. Easy walk to Cannery Row even with my busted knee. The only downside was the parking garage which seemed to scratch the undercarriage of our car getting in and out. All in all a lovely experience.

« Great Location; Huge Room »

We arrived around 5pm and parked in the garage, which we also got a spot but seemed like it could get full pretty easily. Check-in was quick. We had reserved a king family suite and our room was on the third floor. The hallways had a musty smell, and the room seemed a little dark. The living room and bedroom were huge, with high vaulted ceilings. There was a min fridge in the wet bar in the living room, as well as one in the bedroom. There was also a wood fireplace in both the living room and bedroom. There was a microwave and safe. The televisions had terrible reception, the lower channels were fuzzy and the upper channels were not very clear. I mentioned to the front desk, they said they don't get good reception on the local channels, which is strange with cable or satellite. They had someone "adjust" the tv, but it wasn't much better. The bathroom had an additional sink outside the main bathroom part which was good. Even with 2 sinks, there wasn't much counter space. The room had a thermostat, but seemed to only be able to control the heat, I wasn't sure if there was air conditioning or not. There was a small balcony with 2 chairs. The lock on the bedroom door seemed weird, as you could lock It from the living room, locking someone in the bedroom rather than out of the bedroom. They offer a wine and cheese reception in the early evening, but we weren't around to attend. The free breakfast was ok and saves you money from eating breakfast out, the sausage was very good. The location of the hotel is good as you can easily walk to the attractions and stores on Cannery Row.

« I reviewed this several years ago and it is still a great place to stay »

It's really convenient and only a few blocks to the aquarium and the water, and you can easily walk to lots of great restaurants. It's also quiet with a pretty courtyard. The rooms have been redecorated lately and are top notch. The afternoon wine and cheese is a great plus, and the complimentary breakfast has everything you could want. The staff is friendly and helpful and, if you're a repeat customer, they provide a bottle of wine in your room. What else could you want?

    « Perfect location »

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed every minute. The hotel is located close to the aquarium and other attractions and walking distance to some really great restaurants . The afternoon cheese and wine social in the lobby was a great way to start the evening. (even ran into old friends from 25 years ago) They love to travel as much as we do and seeing them choose this hotel convinced us that we found a good place.

« Close to Cannery Row »

Nice, clean hotel that is close walking distance to Cannery Row. Nice views! Fireplace was a plus! Good breakfast. Safe parking. Parking was $15 which I was not informed of. Would definitely stay here again!

    « Exceeded Expectations »

My wife and i recently returned from a short trip to the Monterey area. We looked at several options in different areas in Monterey and chose the Best Western Plus Victorian Inn. We chose this hotel because we had stayed here before a number of years ago and recalled we enjoyed our stay and it was close to Cannery Row but a lot less expensive than those on Cannery Row itself. Its a easy walk to the restaurants and Aquarium. The hotel is a little older but we found the room comfortable and clean. We arrived early and our room was not yet ready so we went down to Cannery Row to look around. When we returned to the room, we were pleasantly surprised with a bottle of wine and chocolates. A note thanked us for returning. This was a big surprised because its been at least 7 years since we were last here. They either had a record of our last stay or they heard a comment my wife made at check in that we had stayed here before. In either case, it was very much appreciated. As advertised, the hotel has a wine and cheese reception in the late afternoon. It was a nice touch. The hotel also advertises a continental breakfast in the morning. Again we were pleasantly surprised when we found the hotel served a breakfast that included not only coffee, tea, juices and pastries, but also eggs, sausage and a version of french toast. The food was hot and tasty. We also noticed the woman from the hotel that arranged the breakfast. She was constantly keeping the coffee containers filled and the food items stocked. We have been to other hotels that served a similar breakfast but it seemed things were always running out quickly. Not the case here and the room kept filling up. She did a great job. I highly recommend this hotel for those that want a comfortable place to stay, close to Cannery Row with nice touches at a good price but are okay with accommodations that are not quite as new and polished as the more expensive hotels on the water.

Great location! Very close to the aquarium and an easy walk to Fisherman's Warf. Wonderful room with vaulted ceilings and fireplace. Clean, cozy and very friendly staff. Loved our stay. No complaints.

« Average all around. Front desk staff not great. »

Had 2 nights here with our kids on way to San Fran. Booked on their site a few months prior to stay; rate lowered by more than 10% before we left so cancelled and re booked. I thought it was over priced for what it was and for time of year. Our experience was that desk staff was not friendly nor helpful for anything. Easy walk to cannery row and drive to Carmel by the Sea. Room was very dated (esp the bathroom) and hallway smelled musty. I would love to see what a reviewer called a "beautiful" room?! Tiny balcony to "courtyard" which was cement covered area in middle of property. Nothing very nice to look at. Wi fi was dodgy and you had to keep logging in. Breakfast was your basic hot and cold. Wish there was more fresh fruit. Inter Continental is much nicer but not ideal if you don't want to be in hub bub of cannery row. Won't likely stay in Monterey again as now have been twice and have seen all we want to see (17 mile drive around Pebble Beach is spectacular). We did have one of the best meals on our trip at Il Vecchio - a ten minute walk away on Lighthouse. Staff kept directing us to restaurants around cannery row. Ugh.

    « Good stay »

Wasn't sure how good a best western would be after the night before at a bed and breakfast but Was pleasantly surprised. The staff were very nice, the breakfast was very good ( real eggs not powdered) and the room clean and comfortable. We needed a place we could walk to a venue on cannery row and it was perfect, would stay there again.

    « Hotel Survey »

Everything involved with the hotel including staff, services and cleanliness was excellent. The only thing that I would encourage in the future is for a 100% disabled/retired veteran to offer more of a discount that what is currently offered.

    « Great breakfast »

Lovely hotel within easy walking distance of Cannery Row. Pleasant room. Unexpectedly good breakfast, always suspicious of breakfasts included in the price as they are often sub standard but had a good hot breakfast. Easy to find and park.

« You simply can't stay at a better hotel in Monterey »

Great hotel in Monterey. Excellent location.A couple of blocks from Cannery Row and an easy 20 min walk to Fisherman's Wharf and downtown Monterey. Beautiful rooms. Standard Best Western breakfast. Complimentary wine & cheese reception each afternoon. Excellent staff. Highly recommened!

    « Monterey Revisited »

The hotel was located in a perfect place to visit the aquarium. Walking distance to the water and various sites was a real plus. While the parking fee was a initial turnoff, the premium location alleviated that concern on the first day. The staff was very friendly and truly tried to may our stay marvelous.

« Good for families visiting the aquarium »

Best of the motels we've stayed at in Monterey. Highlights: - Walking distance to cannery row and Monterey Aquarium - Super friendly staff: they were sweet to my son - Breakfast included: some hot items in addition to yogurt, fruit, and simple pastry items - Rooms: pretty nice for a motel Lowlights: - During high season, this hotel either goes for a lot more expensive than it's worth or is sold out - Was under construction so we went to a makeshift lobby If the price is right, we'd come back here for a family night in Monterey.

    « My Favorite Hotel »

This is the first hotel i always check when going to the Monterey area. We prefer to stay here if at all possible. We have always enjoyed our time here. The staff, rooms, food, and location are excellent. They are even pet friendly. It is extremely convenient being within walking distance of the aquarium and wharf areas.

« Convenient location to the Bay Aquarium & Cannery Row! »

Great place to stay with friendly staff and free breakfast buffet. Parking was $15 but we just left our car in the garage until we were ready to leave town. It was an easy walk to Monterey Bay Aquarium and Cannery Row. There's a Starbucks close by too! The front desk also had a computer so that I could buy my tickets to the aquarium and print them right there. There was no price difference but it saved us from standing in line at the aquarium to buy the tickets and we could go directly to the entrance. Nice, clean rooms and we slept well!

    « Quite a pleasant experience »

My daughter and I visited during her spring break from teaching and really enjoyed out stay at Victorian Inn. The room was large and comfortable. (It would have been nice to have a fan in the bathroom.) There were plenty of big, fluffy towels and our second-floor windows overlooking the courtyard were openable to catch the breezes. All of the staff was friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was fresh and hot and kept well-stoked by the busy ladies filling it up. Our only complaint (minor!) was that you can't reach the office building under cover during rain. But we did note what we thought was a big security flaw: The elevators from the parking area in the basement don't require a room key and so anyone has access to interior hallways. Overall, a very pleasant stay.

« Great Hotel in Monterey! »

This hotel has a lot of visitors from Europe. They know a good deal when they see one. Included are a hot breakfast and a hosted happy hour with wine and cheese. It is 2 short blocks from Cannery Row and great restaurants. Staff are helpful and rooms are quite big and very nice.

    5
« Travel back in time in style! :) »

I am impressed! They have free basement parking, the staff are courteous and efficient, free newspapers and map by the lobby and an ipad guide that shows the best dining, activities and other to do list in Monterey. Not to mention the front desk staff who are more than willing to tell you where to go in Monterey. For someone who has mild OCD let me tell you I was happy it looks not just classy but clean too! They even have a clean controller! Lol I was surprised to find wine, chocolate and hand written card, greeting us a happy anniversary. It doesn't end, there, later that day we found that we are just a block away from cannery row, CVS and mini mart. How convenient! And even more awesome is how organized their complimentary breakfast, an array of bagels, muffins, sausages, eggs, french toast and more! Plus their free wine and cheese in the afternoon is a plus! You really get what you pay for. I would definitely recommend it and would stay here again.

« Very comfortable large room with free hot breakfast »

We stayed one night here, the parking is free underneath the hotel but you need a pass from reception. The decor is dated but luxury in its day! Very good location for the aquarium and cannery row which is where we wanted to visit. Free wifi, fridge etc. We had a decent nights sleep here and enjoyed the hot cooked breakfast.

    5
    « Nice place! »

The service was great, we had a lovely fireplace in our room, and it was close to just about everything. The breakfast and evening wine and cheese reception were very good. We will definitely come back.

    « Perfect boutique hotel »

More than just a Best Western Plus. This is a gem of a boutique hotel offering rooms with fireplaces which are delightful. We were on the ground floor and there was a very nice garden entry into our room. The staff was very professional and friendly. The office of the hotel and the reception area were under renovations when we visited. Therefore, we had to have breakfast in one of the make-shift rooms. Our room was extremely nice, clean and updated. Plus, the fireplace was aareal bonus during the cold weather.

    « Wonderful Hotel »

This is a lovely hotel, the rooms are spacious, and clean, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. The guest room had a fireplace. You had a small balcony where you could sit and and relax and enjoy the sounds of the seagulls. The hotel is within walking distance to the ocean and Cannery Row. Will definitely stay here again.

« Great service, great room »

My husband and I wanted a quick getaway to Monterey and this hotel was just the ticket. Our experience started with great customer service at the front desk, and then a clean cozy room. The hotel is in a great location, we walked everywhere from there. The price for parking was a great deal. We enjoyed the fireplace after returning from dinner, the beds was comfy, as were the pillows. We woke up to a great breakfast, and we were allowed to keep our car parked until 4 pm, even though check out was 12. Thanks for a great stay!

    « Quaint hotel »

This was such a nice place to stay when me and my family visited Monterey! It was well kept and the rooms were spacious and very modern. My favorite part about staying here was the wine and cheese "hour" that they would have daily. It was a great perk! Breakfast was a little crowded at times because the area is smaller due to the Victorian feel. But that was not a big deal at all.

    4
    « Perfect location »

We spent two nights at this hotel. The room was spacious, clean and updated. The breakfasts were very good and the staff very friendly and helpful. The location couldn't be better to just park the car and walk to the aquarium, Cannery Row, the Warf, or ride bikes along the coast trail. Our only issue was the wifi problems we had the last evening. We were continually losing our connection which was kind of frustrating. We do recommend this hotel and we would stay there again.

    « Warm and Inviting »

Our room was beautiful, very clean and roomy. This room was all you could ask for in traveling or long stays. This will be my go to accommodation in Monterey, CA. From the street this Inn doesn"t really stand out, but when you get to the area to register you will be treated like the very special person you are. They were doing some renovations when I was there and that did not pose problem in this elegant Inn. Another plus is the fact that it is very near the aquarium and many other sites. I hope you enjoy Monterey.

« Friendly hotel downtown Monterey, CA »

The Victorian is a charming heritage hotel with sufficient modern comforts for both family or business stay. A welcome bottle of wine in the room as well as a fire place give this hotel extra charm. Various good restaurants around the corner and most tourist attractions of Monterey really close-by. Own parking garage underneath and a simple, but decent breakfast make this place even more comfortable. If you are in time for the happy hour you are treated wine and cheese for free. Super deal.

    4
« Short stay in Monterey »

My husband and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. Be prepared to park under the hotel and pay $15 a day for parking. You can then take either a short flight or stairs or grab an elevator to the lobby. Check in was really easy and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was comfortable but a bit old and tired looking. When we lit the gas fireplace we could tell that it hadn't been used in a while. Breakfast in the morning and a wine and cheese reception in the evening is included. Both were nice touches. The hotel is close to the major attractions.

    « a night in Monterey »

The Best Western Victorian Inn is definitely to be considered if you stay in Monterey. The hotel is located walking distance from restaurants on Canary Row as well as the Aquarium. Rooms have fire places and breakfast is included.

Very centrally located, dog friendly, gorgeous rooms, delicious breakfasts, helpful friendly staff--it's a complete package for a perfect getaway. Especially for those wanting to go to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

« Excellent value close to Cannery Row »

The room is very comfortable. We had the best night's sleep here on our 5 day journey to Southern CA. The fire place is a nice amenity. The parking garage on-premises is very convenient for a reasonable charge. We walked to most of the cannery row waterfront attractions, however, the wharf is not close. The breakfast is very good. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

    « PLEASANT HOTEL »

The hotel is conveniently situated near Cannery Row and within easy walking distance of the Aquarium. The rooms are well-appointed and the staff are very helpful and courteous. There is also an underground garage for parking. The buffet breakfast was ok but perhaps was not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.

    5
    « Walk everywhere »

Perfect location for walking to dinner, shops, attractions; everything. The staff is helpful and friendly. The rooms are well appointed. Lovely views from some rooms. We will stay here again when we are in Monterey.

« Nice, close to everything, good breakfast! »

Very clean and nice hotel close to all the fun things in Monterey. A nice walk by the water will get you to the warf, cannery row, and the aquarium. Excellent breakfast and nice staff. Comfortable rooms although the bending is a little lacking. Overall we really enjoyed our stay!

    « King Suite »

My husband, toddler, and I chose this Best Western because it had a suite available, which was great. Our toddler goes to bed early, so it was helpful to have a separate room to put him to bed. I was unexpectedly impressed with how large and comfortable the rooms were. It was helpful to have an eating area, living room, and separate bedroom when traveling with a small child. The hotel breakfast was a pretty standard breakfast--not great, but several options and filling. We walked to Cannery Row and the Aquarium from the hotel, thinking to make the most of the $15 daily parking fee, which seemed a little steep. Overall, it was a great experience.

« The staff makes the difference »

The location of this hotel is great if you want to walk to Cannery Row. The place shows its age a bit but is nice overall (fireplace!). The difference here is that the staff was more friendly and professional than most of the 4+ star hotels that we have traveled to. From our initial greeting to check out, they were absolute pros. Upon arrival, there was a hand written note and gift in the room. The evening reception was very nice and breakfast offerings were also very good. you can find nicer buildings but it would be hard to beat the staff.

    5
    « Great Place »

Great location, great service and staff, room was very clean and well decorated, bed was very comfortable. Nice touch with evening wine/cheese time. I am a single lady and felt very safe staying there alone. Can't go wrong with staying there!

« anniversary in Monterey and Pacific Grove »

Best Western Victorian Inn did not disappoint. The staff went out of their way to decorate our room with rose petals and a complimentary bottle of wine for out wedding anniversary. Very thoughtful. Will come back again. Location is perfect for walking to the ocean path and the Aquarium. Good restaurants also with in walking distance.

    « Victorian lovely »

I knew the Best Western wasn't a real Victorian Bed and Breakfast but I was blown away at how wonderful my room was. Super high ceilings, lovely gas fireplace, balcony and the largest room with two overstuffed comfortable chairs and King size bed. It was beyond my expectations. Then they told us to be sure to come for wine and cheese at 4:30pm...it was delicious....and breakfast was a full course of eggs, sausage, toast with the absolute best coffee ... It was wonderful... the staff were all helpful and nice, I needed lots of help and there was someone at the door moments after I hung up the phone. It's definitely the BEST Best Western I've ever stayed at and I'll be going again. Plus it's just steps away from Cannery Row and the Aquarium.. And, they have a secure parking area. It really is a great place to stay in Monterey .

    « Great, convenient stay »

This hotel was a great place to stay. I called before we arrived to see if we could park before check-in and were told that was fine, we would just need to let a staff member know and get a card to put in the car. When we arrived, they were able to get us a room almost immediately, so we could put our things away and freshen up. It's a pretty short, nice walk to cannery row and the aquarium. When we finished up with the touristy stuff, we walked back to the hotel for the wine and cheese hour. It was pretty simple, but the wine was great and there was plenty of cheese, crackers, and apples for everyone. It was nice to sit and relax. And the man pouring the wine was very generous. Our room was huge, with a fireplace and a giant bathroom. The bed was very comfortable, we had no trouble sleeping. They were doing construction on some of the building, but they were able to make things very accommodating despite that. Breakfast included a small but decent selection, ensuring we would have enough energy for the drive home. If you feel so inclined, check out the tiki bar a few blocks away, we had a blast there after dinner.

    « Plus Plus Plus! »

We were very happy with our stay at Best Western Plus Victorian Inn. The only downside was that we were there during the remodel of the actual Victorian building. We were not disturbed by the construction at all. Just would have loved to see the inside of the actual Victorian building. Going back as soon as possible!

« My first choice in Monterey »

This hotel is my favorite place in Monterey for its location, nightly wine & cheese, and friendly staff. While it lacks a hot tub, the fireplaces in the rooms add a very nice touch. It is a few blocks from Cannery Row and the Monterey Bay Aquarium, as well as a great run/walk/bike path along the ocean. Whether for a romantic get away or a business trip, this is a great choice.

« Good location, does what it says on the tin »

Great central location, with convenient parking. All you'd expect from a big chain, clean, comfortable and functional breakfast. They are going through a small refurbishment, but handled it well and we didn't experience any issues. Definitely recommended.

« Wonderful hotel in Monterey »

I am writing this from my room at the Inn righ now. The fireplace is going and I am in a big comfy chair looking out at the bay. Been coming to this hotel for 29 years. It is lovely with incredible service. The rooms are large for 2 people. Very clean. Often with a view of the bay and a fireplace. Can be very romantic. They have a very good breakfast and an afternoon wine and cheese offering to complete the day. We are caught between being treated like family and royalty. If you want a place you'll want to come back to this is it.

    5
    « Great Location »

The room was clean and very comfortable, loved the fireplace. Breakfast the next morning was very good with plenty of choices. The hotel offered wine and cheese in the afternoon, but I only stayed one night and didn't take advantage. We walked to the main pier in Monterey just a few blocks away.

« Decent hotel at a reasonable price »

I stayed here for one night in late December with my husband and two daughters (18 & 22). We had adjoining rooms. Upon arrival, you self-park (only $15) under the hotel building, find the luggage cart, unload your bags and find the elevator to your room. The lobby and breakfast areas are totally under construction, so the ambiance, aside from the our rooms, was quite dreary. The hallways look old. The rooms were a nice size; simple and clean. They had a fireplace, but we didn't use it. They have taken over two hotel rooms to use as a breakfast area and another two hotel rooms to use for check-in. The breakfast was quite bland. We ate it at the large table in one of our rooms. If you are looking for service, then this isn't the right hotel for you. If you only need a nice room in a decent location, then this is a bargain. It's just a few blocks from the aquarium area and restaurants.

    « Comfortable as a second home »

We have been staying at the Victorian Inn in Monterey, CA, for over 35 years. Our stays always enjoyable and comfortable; it is truly like having a second home at the beach. It is centrally located to many of the attractions of Monterey and Pacific Grove, which are out favorite get-aways.

« Good clean hotel, excellent location »

Recently travelled down PCH this was the only hotel we stayed at, (all the rest were B&B) The hotel was smart, clean and the staff very accommodating. A very good team. Distance to the aquarium, harbour etc measured in yards and a very easy walk. Lovely touch with a pleasant chilled bottle of wine in the room on arrival. There is wine and hors d'oeurves late in the afternoon which is excellent for meeting people from all over the world. A good family and friendly hotel.

    « Excellent customer service »

I want to thank everyone who helped with returning a flashlight to me -- a Christmas gift given to my husband that I left it in our room when we checked out. It started with housekeeping finding it in the room and turning it in. I want to thank the person who found it for their honestly. It's a pretty cool flashlight and it would have been so easy to just keep it but they didn't. Thank you soooo much! Once turned in, I spoke with Brandon. Between the two of us -- and Charlene and another employee -- the flashlight was eventually returned to me (Keep in mind, I never told my husband I left it. It just arrived in the mail one day! Ha!). We love your hotel -- clean, great location, super nice AND honest employees!!!!!!! We've been visiting Monterey/Carmel during MLK weekend for the last twenty-plus years. For the last however many, we've been staying with you. We love the Victorian Inn!!!!! Thank you again for everything. We'll be back next year!!!! Look forward to seeing ... Kelly

« Great hotel, BUT lobby and breakfeast area are under construction will be 4 once complete »

The good- Very friendly staff, fireplaces in room, great location (easy walk to Cannery row), balcony seating area outside rooms, rate (excellent value for area), décor and comfortable accommodations. The bad- 1) Construction has forced eating area into two small rooms with seating for 8-12 at the most. The hotel allows you to take food back to your room, but it is very crowded getting your food leading to uncomfortable interactions with other travelers. Tip- the hotel is reasonably priced just skip the breakfast (average at best with usual powdered eggs, sausage, cereal, coffee, juice, etc.) and go out to breakfast. 2) The shower faucet is difficult to operate and you have to push it to point of breaking to switch from hand held. 3) I made the reservation on line and asked for a receipt to be mailed to me. When I checked out I again provided my email address and did not receive a receipt. 4) Parking is $15 a night 5) only offers double beds for multiple bed request instead of two queens. Tip: Request 2nd or 3rd floor and you may have a view of the Bay.

« Nice place to stay if you are visiting the aquarium »

The lobby was undergoing renovations in January of 2016,but the hotel did a nice job of creating temporary reception and breakfast rooms. This is a very convenient place to stay for visiting Cannery Row and the Aquarium. The rooms are a little dated, but they were certainly clean. And our room had a fireplace. What a treat for a chilly night in January. We enjoyed it for a few hours before bed and it was a fabulous addition to the room. Breakfast was enjoyable. No complaints. The room had a sliding door, opening out to an atrium. But the weather was chilly and wet, so we did not use it at all.

« Roomy, Warm, Romantic Room, Jacuzzi Tub for 2 »

I love this hotel...we always request Room #301 for our Anniversary every year...it is in the front corner of the hotel. It is has a beautiful corner window view, has a fireplace, breakfast table, comfy chairs, comfortable bed and a large jacuzzi tub for 2...and is a very large room. Will stay here everytime we come to this area. They always have a bottle of wine and chocolate truffles waiting for us. There are only 4 rooms on the 3rd floor that have the jucuzzi tubs, so make sure you request one.

    « Nice Hotel »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western. The wine and cheese happy hour was a very nice treat the day we checked into the hotel. Our room was very clean and had a balcony and a fire place. We very much enjoyed having a fire as the first evening was cool. The room decor was a little dated, but everything was in good shape and as I mentioned very clean. Breakfast was very busy, but not a problem. There was not a whole lot of seating for eating breakfast, but people came and went allowing new people a spot to site. There was a good selection of foods including hot items. We would definitely stay at the Victorian Inn again when in Monterey.

« Good Stay . Disappointed in the knowledge of the staff »

This was our second stay at the Inn. It is a great location near Cannery Row and walking distance to the Aquarium. They bought a bottle of wine and apple juice to the room at check in. The afternoon wine and morning breakfast are better than most Best Western. Our complaint was I had called ahead to the property to check about a ADA equipped room with a raised toilet. It was a first trip with our 86 mother/grandmother where she needed extra equipment. I was assured on 2 calls that all toilets were raised. Turns out that was not true. It was embarrassing and uncomfortable for all. No solution was offered. So a great stay became a bit of a hassle. Wish we had stayed somewhere else

    « Amazing Stay »

I was planning a weekend in Monterey with my dad who was visiting from NYC. It was his first time there, so it was a special occasion as he is getting up there in age. I also had my new puppy with us. The hotel is perfectly located 2 blocks from Cannery row with a slew of local restaurants located a block away in the opposite direction. First impression was a little off putting, because the lobby was being renovated at the time. However, our room was great with balcony and was fairly modern. Again, I had a puppy and they supplied a doggie bowl with complimentary food. The grounds and courtyard was well maintained and there was a security guard that walked the grounds continuously which is important when you have balconies. They have a great breakfast bar with french toast, eggs, assortment of cereal, muffins, and fruit. The only complaint I would have would be a non read meat option. As a resident of San Francisco, I will be back here frequently.

    « A Lovely Stay @ Victorian Inn »

The Victorian Inn well and truly exceeded our expectations in every way! Hits: - wonderful staff - good location (less than 10min walk to cannery row) - clean, big and lovely rooms (and with a fireplace) - breakfast included Misses: - rather small breakfast area and makeshift lobby (a temporary arrangement while renovations were taking place) In summary, the quality of the rooms and the helpful and friendly staff made us feel at home and very comfortable indeed. Two thumbs up!

« So good for a non car trip with my granddaughter. »

Our room was great on the top floor with a little ocean view. I have one warning for people like me with mobility issues. The room had one of those fancy tubs with jets but it was impossible for me to get in it. I couldn't raise my leg that high and since the shower was also in there I had to do without good thing it was a quick trip. ;-)

« Great place to stay »

This was such a wonderful place to stay. Close to the Aquarium and restaurants. We stayed on the top floor and had a good view of the water with a spacious room. There were many things we loved about this place - the fireplace, handwritten note welcoming us, wine and cheese reception, breakfast. The hotel staff was very accommodating. When we found that we would need a rollaway bed for our teenager, the staff quickly brought up a bed. We will stay here again if in Monterey.

    « Superb Monterey Hotel »

While the hotel is undergoing renovations, we still had a great stay. The rooms we had booked were actually converted into lobby and dining rooms temporarily so we got adjoining interconnected rooms which turned out better. If you go to Monterey in peak time (which we didn't) parking is apparently terrible but in off peak you can easily park for free outside of the hotel (which is $15). They kindly booked the Aquarium tickets for us (set aside a few hours as it is a big aquarium). They recommended Gianni's Pizza for dinner - it is fairly ordinary so check out other options.

« Another great stay at the BW Victorian Inn »

We have stayed at this hotel for our trips to Monterey Bay for many years. The staff are wonderful and the location to the aquarium cannot be beat. There is a complimentary wine and cheese (430-530 PM) and a complimentary breakfast (7-10 AM). We will be back!

    « A Great Place to Stay »

We have been staying here every Christmas for the last 15 years. We've watched it get a bit more expensive, but they haven't reduced the amenities that keep bringing us back every year. Some rooms are pet friendly, some have gas fireplaces, some on the top floor have nice views over the top of Cannery Row to Monterey Bay. All are very comfortable. Private parking is available in their basement garage (for additional charge). They treat their guests very well here, from the daily included breakfast to the afternoon wine and cheese hour (also included). Walking distance to the shops and attractions of Cannery Row and beyond. Easy access to the coastal trail (excellent for a nice shoreline walk to Pacific Grove), Fisherman's Wharf, and old town Monterey (including the Presidio, museums, outdoor ice rink in winter, and more great restaurants). Although there are lots of other choices, we never hesitate to return here year after year.

    « Seaside Break »

Best Western Plus Victorian Inn is a very easy, one/two block walk down to Cannery Road - a mix of shops and eating options. The Inn's lobby and dining room were being renovated at the time - but this cause little to no disruption. The rooms are a generous size with an easy to use fire-place. The rooms were well appointed, clean and quite. We stayed on the road side and did not find this too intrusive. The Inn offered complimentary wine and cheese each afternoon - which was a nice treat. The breakfast was very simply - but adequate. We went for a great walk along the coast line to see the Ottas and harbor seals. This place is great for a peaceful break.

« Very nice, roomy and great location »

Love the long window seat benches. The three of us could spread out our stuff, and not step over piles. The breakfast was nicer than expected. It changed everyday and the ladies working it did a great job. Weird location but the whole place is kinda odd during their major re-do. I'd like to see it 'done'. The location was great for walking. Great shops and restaurants within blocks.

« Love the in room fireplaces! »

My husband and I stayed here one night in December 2015. It is under construction, so the Victorian charm wasn't really part of the visit. However, we found the staff to be very warm and helpful - even helping us figure out where we could find free street parking (rather than pay the $15 of the hotel for parking). The breakfast was really nice. We used our in room fireplace which was a charm we had never experienced in a hotel before.

    « Good Place »

Excellant place to stay. Can walk to the Aquarium and downtown (convention center). Good location and friendly, helpful staff. we have stayed here for the last 15 years on vacation and business trips and it is our place of choice.

    « Location was great »

Great location to stay out of your car. All nearby, dinning, shops, ocean, and the Aquarium. Hotel very nice, great staff. Breakfast o/k, free wine and cheese around 5 pm, fun to meet other guest in a relax situation.

    « A Relaxing Stay in Monterey »

We chose this pet friendly hotel since it was a short 10 minute walk to the Monterey Bay Aquarium. The large room featured a double bed, a fire place and a large TV. We enjoyed the wine and cheese served every afternoon. It was a short walk to many restaurants in the area. The only inconvenience was that the lobby and breakfast room were being renovated so that some rooms had been temporarily converted into the lobby and breakfast room.

« Great place to stay »

Beautiful room, romantic and very clean. They even welcomed us with a bottle of wine in or room on ice welcoming us back from twenty years ago! The main lobby was under construction (during winter season so can't complain too much). But they made up for it by providing excellent service.

« Great Perch Above the Bay »

A great place to relax and enjoy the bay. Conveniently located just a half block to Cannery Row and great restaurants. Also ideally located to the Pacific Grove Trail for biking and walking. The staff here is really accommodating and friendly. Good breakfast offerings that are really tasty, as well as the wine and cheese happy hour. Fun to get to know other hotel guests during this time!

    « Love this hotel »

Not a Victorian home modified as I originally thought but the location is fabulous! Each room has a fireplace for me that outweighs a pool any day! Wine and cheese reception was very nice! Helpful and friendly staff. Very dog friendly ask for pup package and a portion goes to local shelter. Staff will let you know good places to walk dogs and where to dine with dogs! I will stay here again and again just wish I could get a suite with my dogs.

« Little Piece of Heaven »

I stayed here for my last scuba dive for certification. Great hotel, great price, and friendly staff! Plus, breakfast was tasty. Great to have a fireplace in my room too! Everything, was clean and the room was perfect and quiet. I will return at somepoint.

« Great Place To Stay »

The Victorian Inn offered by Best Western is in a great location for a trip to Monterrey. Walking distance to everything Cannery Row has to offer. The breakfast and wine and cheese hour are a wonderful treat. The beds are really comfortable, and the fireplace and balcony are great. I have stayed here about a half a dozen times. It's the only place I would go to for a trip to Monterrey. Great value for the money.

« not for light sleepers and vampires »

We could hear the people walking above us and people passing in the hallway, but not the people next to us or the rain outside. Too many mirrors for my taste. the driveway into the basement garage scrapped the bottom of our car. Breakfast was more than a continental breakfast. There was a fridge in the room, but no microwave.

« Wonderful Place to Stay! »

This is a great place to stay in Monterey. Just a block or two from Fisherman's Wharf, which is handy! The rooms were very spacious and had good views. We faced the street, and you could hear traffic, but it didn't bother us. My brother next door felt that it was loud. We were on the second floor, which I would suggest. Great wifi service, and clean rooms. Very nice! They have a limited breakfast in the morning......nothing fancy, but great coffee and unlimited tasty orange juice! Also, a hot egg dish, fruit, I think there might have been a meat dish (sausage), breads, cereal, etc. We only stayed 2 nights and didn't eat breakfast there, but did grab a few things for the road. I would highly recommend this hotel!

« Great place. well priced. »

Very decent place for a great price, walking distance to aquarium and walking path, lovely staff. Dog friendly. Large underground parking. Only complaints were the "elephants" who stayed above us and the difficulty arranging the reservations. Poor communication between call center and hotel. Some of may have been due to internet problems but not all of it.

« Ticked all our boxes »

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The staff were welcoming and helpful on arrival. The room was attractive, spacious, beautifully furnished. The instant heat gas fireplace enhanced the atmosphere. Perfectly clean. The second handbasin outside the bathroom is very practical. The room was a comfortable temperature but we could easily change it if we wished. The king bed was very comfortable. The complimentary welcome wine and cheese from 4.30-5.30 was an excellent touch and allows a chance to settle in and, if desired, mingle with other guests. The hotel is perfectly situated for many attractions. Canary Row is so close as is the boardwalk for the stroll around the Marina. The aquarium is close. Our room was back from the street and we heard no road noise. It was very quiet all night. The complimentary breakfast offers the usual fare. I liked the availability of fresh fruit as well as the omelettes. My only negative is that the free wifi keeps dropping out and takes a while to reconnect. Overall we felt the hotel was an excellent choice and made for an enjoyable stay.

    4
« Fireplaces in every room! »

Reasonable rates within walking distance to all Cannary Row has to offer. Clean, comfortable rooms, free continental breakfast and wine/cheese reception in the afternoon. Good free wifi. Units in the rear are quiet and some have a peak of the ocean. No minibars or room service, but considering all, a great place to stay.

    « Cold and noisy... »

The most important a hotel provides is sleep quality. For this, I would only give the hotel 1 star. Our room for the 1st night was noisy and cold. The room was directly facing Foam street (in fact all rooms are facing Foam Street, but you have 1st row, and 2nd row), so it was super noisy with street noise. Cars and trucks drove by fast, whole day and whole night. I could tell the windows are not sealed well when I checked. Because of this, the room was cold. We turned thermostat control to 72F, but it never reached 68F. Considering the thermostat is right above the heat vent, the room was a lot cooler than 68F. When I walked to the window, I could literally feel the cold air and cold carpet. Cold air also came from the fireplace and there is no way to shut the fireplace air vent (per the maintenance staff). The bathroom vent was always on, noisy, sucking out hot air and pumping in cold air, and we couldn't turn it off from our room. After we called the front desk, maintenance staff turned off our bathroom vent (along with 5 other), from outside, using the control board breaker. The 2nd night we switched to a room at 2nd row and it turned out to be fine. On the bright side, the good things about this place are: close to Canary row, nice breakfast, nice wine and cheese at afternoon, and friendly staff. So I am giving it a two star...

    « good hotel »

Good hotel. They are in a good location and they allow dogs. They service half way decent breakfast. The also have. Happy hour but I never gone it. It is in a good location in Monterey. It is within walking distant to the Canary and lot of restaurants.

« Dog friendly and green »

My wife and I recently spent the night at this location and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff was top notch and we were greeted with a friendly smile and a welcome. We were traveling with our pet and upon arriving at our room we found that the staff had addressed a hand written welcome letter to us and our pet. They had also left us a dog bowl full of food and water and a bottle of Merlot and a box of chocolates for our pleasure. The pet friendly rooms are located on the ground floor on the street side, so road noise can be heard but was not troublesome. They also had plenty of rooms that were not streetside and I am sure these are even quieter. The hotel provided ample underground parking ( $15.00) but it was nice to not have your car covered in sea spray and mist in the morning. A complimentary wine and buffet was provided in the breakfast room at 4:30 each day and was well appreciated. The location was quite convenient to Cannery Row and the Aquarium and all local restaurants. In fact, we did not even use the car during our stay.Reasonably priced and great service from the staff. The only hotel chain that I have stayed in during our four year drought that actually brought attention to water conservation in the room, Bravo! Complimentary breakfast was quite adequate. Our room was nicely appointed with a gas log fireplace and a small deck with table and chairs. I would definitely stay at this location again.

« Great value and location »

Great location only a few blocks from Cannery Row. Good breakfast and rooms were nice and big and fireplace worked well. Would recommend this hotel. Only stayed one night but would be great for a few days. Parking garage was nice and easy access to elevators. You do have to pay for parking in garage. Balcony is shared but still nice for a breath of fresh air. View isn't great but like mentioned just a few blocks from Cannery Row.

    « Loved it! »

Our room on the 3rd floor looked just like the picture on trip advisor. The hotel is filled with vintage charm. The staff was great, helpful. We had a room with the fireplace and balcony. We slept like babies on the pillowtop mattress. The breakfast was the only average point about the stay. But we figured that was just a courtesy anyway. The room and hospitality make up for it. Definitely will stay again!

« Great hotel, great location »

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 2 nights on a 2 week stay in California and Arizona. Absolutely loved this hotel, the location was superb as it was just a couple of minutes stroll from Cannery Row, and a 20-ish minute walk to Fisherman's Wharf and downtown Monterey. The room was great, nice and modern with wooden floor boards and a great fire place which was a novelty to us! The staff were brilliant, couldn't do enough for us when we checked in.

« Nice Place to Stay, Just 2 Blocks off Cannery Row »

Nice hotel with large comfortable rooms (mine had a fireplace and small balcony), but a bit dated. The room was bright and airy with a vaulted ceiling. The bathroom was large with a tub/shower combination, clean, but again dated. The shower head is mounted very low (about to my chin), but luckily it did have a hand held shower wand. The bedding was very comfortable. The hotel services a continental breakfast plus eggs, a breakfast meat and usually a warm bread item (pancakes, waffles, french toast, etc.) every morning and also have a 'happy hour' with wine and cheese every evening. All of the staff was very accommodating and nice.

« Great location; nice people »

Upside: The rooms are a nice size, with a sitting area and a fireplace (in each room, I think). A nice large-sized flatscreen TV. A little balcony, enough room to sit for two actually; however, some rooms have balconies facing an interior courtyard and others have balconies overlooking Foam Street -which can be surprisingly noisy with traffic but on the second floor have a peep of a bay view through the buildings on the west side of Foam St. There are two sinks but they are separated, leaving very little counter space. The bathroom is somewhat dated but very clean and in good working order including a pull-out make-up/shaving mirror (so I'm reasonably happy with it). The TV has a pretty good selection of channels (sometimes these places are very small in TV size or selection, trying to encourage you to get out of the room). The breakfast is pretty good - egg omelets pre-cooked, sausage, french toast, cereal, muffins, juices, coffee of course (standard Best Western coffee). Get a top floor room (3rd floor at the back/east of the property, 2nd floor at the front/west side) so you definitely won't hear people above you. On the other hand, the tradeoff is that it is hard to avoid at least a few stairs (the property is on several split levels) but there is one elevator bank. Location is GREAT: it is one block off of Lighthouse Street with all of its restaurants, and two+ blocks off of the beach road that runs right along Cannery Row. The aquarium is about a 6 block walk; great in nice weather, seems longer if walking in the rain! Downside: the walls are kind of thin; although there is a frig in the room there is no microwave; the bedding is polyester in case you are more comfortable with cotton; and the cleaning products used are pretty industrial chemicals if you are sensitive. However, you can call ahead and ask that these not be used and they complied with us. The breakfast area is indeed small for the size of the property as others have noted - although there is charm in it being a Victorian parlor, and trays are indeed available to take food to the room.

    « Very nice stay »

Very good value. Had a king sized bed upstairs which had a vaulted ceiling and was very spacious. Loved the fireplace and the bathroom was very nice. Breakfast was more than adequate. There is a $15 per day parking fee but no attendant. We would definitely stay here again.

« Great location in Monterey »

We stayed as a family group and the staff couldn't have been more helpful at check-in and throughout our stay. It's in a good location for walking to Cannery Row and there are several restaurants within easy walking distance. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked to stay on our return drive up the coast and once again the reception staff helped us out and even gave us the same rooms for our return trip. Breakfast was tasty with a good selection to appeal to everyone in our party. The evening wine tasting was fun with good California wines and a selection of munchies.

« Stay at The Victorian »

It was a very nice weekend getaway. The room was cozy and the breakfast was good. The room was a little pricey but we splurged for our birthdays. My boyfriend and I celebrate birthdays one day apart and like to do trips for our birthdays and we really enjoyed Monterrey and the Victorian Hotel was very nice.

    « Love this hotel »

WE love the location of this wonderful hotel. It is just a short walk to cannery row. The beds are very comfortable. The staff is wonderful. They have a light breakfast that is good. We would highly recommend this hotel.

« Large Room, But No View. »

This hotel is located 3 blocks up from Cannery Row which makes it a great location in Monterey. It did advertise view rooms which if you stood on tiptoe you could get a peek of the bay in the far distance. No matter, it was a nice large room with a fireplace and window bench seat. It was a bit noisy on the street side. Very clean with a friendly staff. Breakfast was typical Best Western, but good. Walk down the hill is nice and close to the Walking Path along the bay in Pacific Grove. Average price as well.

    « Great get away. »

We always choose Victorian Inn when we stay in Monterey. Only a couple of blocks to get to Cannery Row. The hotel rooms are just beautiful. Love the fireplace in the room. Over all, we do love this place.

« Great Time At The Best Western Plus Victorian Inn! »

A very beautiful place to stay!!! Great staff and perfect location!!! It was our first stay there, but definitely will not be our last!!! Make sure you rent a bike and ride throughout the area.....The views are breathtaking!!!

    3
    « Not bad. »

If you are tall or like to start your day early this may not be the place for you. The showers are small and the breakfast doesn't start until 7 am. On a more positive note it is very central to everything. The aquarium and all shopping, restaurants and sights were all close by and in walking distance.

    « 7;39am 1112-2015 »

We love this hotel. We take the dog. We've been 4 or 5 times in the past few years. The location is two blocks from Cannery Row, so lots of choices for eating, walking, taking in the ocean views and also the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

« Third Stay Just as Wonderful as the First Two »

This was our third stay at the wonderful Best Western Victorian Inn and we enjoyed it just as much if not more than our previous stays. When we booked the hotel, we requested the same room we stayed in on our previous visits. When we arrived, we were informed that would not be possible but they offered us two different selections and had someone show us both rooms before deciding. We selected a room on the second floor facing the street as we like the balcony and on previous visits we could hear the sea lions down on the bay. The sea lions did not cooperate this time around but we still enjoyed the room. As returning guests we were treated to some chocolates and a bottle of wine in our room. The room itself is a good size with vaulted ceiling and a ceiling fan. The room also includes a gas fire place, a large flat screen television over the fire place, a safe in the room, a coffee pot, a small refrigerator, an iron and ironing board and an alarm clock to which one can hook an ipod. The king size bed was very comfortable as were the pillows. There are also two very comfortable arm chairs with a table between them. The finest part of the hotel is it's wonderful staff. Not only did they allow us to select the room but when we purchased Monterey Bay Aquarium tickets through them that were good for two days (at the same price of a single day at the aquarium) and we misplaced one of the tickets on the second day, the desk clerk wrote the ticket numbers on her card and told us to have the aquarium call if there was any problem getting in on the 2nd day. There was no problem and the aquarium personnel told us the clerk was very smart to write the numbers down so she could easily look them up. The staff of the BW Victorian Inn goes above and beyond for their visitors. Parking is extra in there parking garage located beneath the hotel but breakfast is included. My only, tiny, disappointment is that although they serve plain omelets, French toast and sausages (along with cold cereal, toast, English muffins, yogurt, coffee, milk and juice), the hot entrees do not change. I seem to remember that in the past they varied the entrees daily, sometimes serving cheese omelets or pancakes but then again perhaps my memory is wrong. The breakfast room is still rather small but on this trip that was not a problem as we always found a table. The hotel location is perfect, just a couple blocks from Cannery Row but that is advantageous as it is in a quite neighborhood, away from the sounds of Cannery Row. It is also just a short walk to one of our favorite restaurants, Sea Harvest (located on the same street, Foam). It is also just a short walk to a CVS in case one forgets something or would like to buy some bottled water. Whatever one's reason for visiting Monterey and there are many, you can't go wrong booking this fine hotel. Like I said, it was our third stay and we wouldn't stay anywhere else.

    5
    « Monterey Half Marathon »

Have stay at this hotel the last four years during the Big Sur Half Marathon. Excellent location, close to start and finish of race as well as 1 block from Cannery Row and Aquarium. There is a wine and cheese reception every afternoon and a nice breakfast in the morning. All of the staff is very professional and helpful.

    4
    « Check it Out »

We have stayed at many different hotels, motels, lodges and Inns in Monterey over the past 30+ years, including bay front hotels on Cannery Row. The Best Western Plus Victorian Inn is one of our favorites, and our new go-to place in Monterey. Good value with lots of amenities, and complimentary wine and cheese reception and breakfast (with many options). A short walk to Cannery Row and the aquarium, a longer (easy) walk to Fishermans Wharf, you can leave your car parked in the on-site garage for much of your visit. A nice street-front appearance and nicely landscapes interior courtyards make the grounds stand out from other lodgings, as do little things like decent bars of soap in the bathrooms that don't sliver away after a couple of uses, and in-room coffee (with ceramic mugs) that is full strength and doesn't send you searching for a Starbucks. There are other nice touches as well, like the well-lighted parking garage with easy elevator access to all floors, and in-room refrigerators and safes. On our most recent stay, as return guests, we were welcomed by a nice note, truffles, and complimentary bottle of wine in our room when we arrived. You can't beat that for customer service. We'll be back!

    « Great stay »

We enjoyed our stay from Dillon greeting us to him telling us good by the next morning. The area was great and the seafood across the street was fabulous. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We met other couples at the free breakfast and talked for about an hour. The area and people are as friendly as I have seen in california. Great job Monterey you have some other sister hotels that could use you as a coach or example.

    5
    « Very dog friendly »

It was a pleasure to check in at this hotel and get a warm reception with my pooch. There was another couple in line with theirs as well. It was an even nicer surprise to get a welcome package for our dog a few minutes later. They gave him a bowl of kibble, water bowl, and a bottle of water. I would certainly return for the nice service.

    4
    « Monterey Expierence »

Our room was one king bed (which was wrong), so we were moved to 2 queen beds. There were barking dogs in rooms nearby which was bothersome. The $15 parking fee was never mentioned when we booked. Afternoon wine was nice and free breakfast was great.

    4
    « Perfect location »

On a busy holiday weekend we didn't have much choice of vacancies. We liked many things about this Best Western. The location is perfect and walkable to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. Our room was large and very comfortable. Beds were very comfy. Wine is offered in the afternoon and breakfast is very good of its kind: cereal, toasts, whole fresh fruit, and three hot offerings. Parking is underneath and very easy in and out for daytrips. Front desk service was friendly, attentive, and helpful. Only negatives were the large number of groups staying, some of whom returned noisily drunk after we were attempting to sleep. We didn't hear them after they entered their rooms, but we had windows open to a courtyard, so didn't get to sleep as early as desired. There was also a herd of elephants staying upstairs. I don't consider either of these the hotel's fault.

    5
« Great Inn and Great Location »

Perfect stay. Walking distance to Cannery Row shops and restaurants. Clean, comfortable room. Delicious breakfast in a great environment. Covered garage parking. Didn't mind paying for parking as it is secure and well lit.

« Great value for money »

We didn't expect it to be that good ! the room are very big the location is amazing. Very clean rooms and good breakfast which include in the price ! Staff was very friendly. Nothing bad to say really.

« So close to the Monterey Aquarium. »

We chose this hotel because it was so close to the Monterey Aquarium. The staff was very friendly and made our check in very smooth. The room was very nice but the bedding could be improved, the mattress on the king bed was very soft and the pillows, so thick ,that it felt like you were sitting in bed.

    5
« Comfortable, Clean and Low-Key with Lovely Staff »

I arrived during a Monterey Peninsula-wide blackout and while restaurants and other places had closed down, the Staff was prepared with all of the check-in information and had a lovely wine and cheese reception even without power. I've stayed here a couple of times and the room is very clean and comfortable (love the fireplace and the window seats!) - I'm looking forward to staying here again.

    5
    « Lovely, romantic atmosphere »

I stayed here one night as part of my trip along the Coast. This is one of the best hotel I stayed during my 3 weeks trip across the State. The tour company booked the hotel so I will not discuss about the price/value. The hotel has an interesting layout, like a compound spreading a whole block. Location is very good, just a short walk from Cannery Row and the Aquarium. So it's a good choice if you want to be close to action but don't like the noisy, busy atmosphere of Cannery Row. Room is spacious with fireplace (which I didn't use) and a balcony. Both room and bathroom are squeaky clean, which is very much appreciated. I enjoyed the wine and cheese reception in the afternoon (cheese and wine are both good quality). Again, they have another surprise for you in the room for the evening. The dining area is quite small but for breakfast, they have trays for you to take back to room and enjoy breakfast in bed. I can't explain if it's the design, the nice garden or what but the hotel has this romantic atmosphere. Wished I could have stayed longer. Definetly stay again if I'm in the area.

« Quaint but aging rapidly... »

We selected this motel because we are BW rewards members and it had a good walking proximity to the Cannery Row area. While the property is quaint and charming, it is beginning to show it's age. The rooms above the lobby are larger and likely older than the rest of the property so you might find better amenities staying in their standard rooms, but we found the decor rather befitting of an old Victorian home in Monterrey but regrettably many of the items were showing their age. Use caution with their hot water, improperly adjusted it will scald the average adult in little to no time. Use caution with the fireplaces as they have no safety valve or pilot light o ensure they stay lit, and worse when they are lit they continue to set off the carbon monoxide alarms. Oh and the flues are bolted open just in case someone thinks they may have been closed.

    « What a great location! »

As this was only an overnight stay, I wished we could have stayed there longer. We were in a regular room with a king bed and a small verandah shielded by shrubs for privacy. Lovely and clean, the breakfast delicious and check out was 1200. Your car could remain there for the full day, even after checkout, this gave us more time to walk and see the sights. The Victorian Inn is located within walking distance from all the attractions in Monterey, a bonus for travellers wanting to stretch their legs. Would recommend.

Very good location about 5 blocks from Cannery Row and the Monterey Aquarium. VERY nicely appointed rooms. Laminate wood floors so no icky carpeting was a big plus+! Everything appeared new and very clean. OK free morning breakfast and a very nice FREE wine and cheese hour at 4:30 PM. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone I know. *Only gotcha was the fee for parking (of which they had plenty). Ask about this, but overall 5 Stars from my wife & I.

    « Lovely stay »

Stayed here in the last few days. It was lovely. We ended up with a suite. Had a lounge area as well as a large bedroom with a king size bed. The bathroom was big with the best shower I've come across in a hotel and I've stayed in a lot. It was spotless. The staff were lovely and very helpful. We really felt at home. It is very well located for walking down to Cannery Row and the Aquarium, which is well worth a look. Loved our stay here.

    « Nice Victorian Decor »

Much better than expected! Beautiful place. Enjoyed having breakfast on my private balcony with a view of the water in the distant. Close enough to Cannery Row and attractions without the noise and traffic. Will definitely come back the next time I am here.

« We love this hotel »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel 5 years ago and again last week. The property is nice, the rooms are beautiful, the breakfast is generous and the location is the best. After years of staying in Carmel, we decided 5 years ago to switch to Monterey and I am glad we did! It is so much more fun!

« Superb location, clean, quiet, great staff--perfect »

Although dated, this hotel boasts total cleanliness & quiet, a perfect locaition (walkable to Cannery Row), amazingly helpful and courteous staff, extra god breakfast (for continental), excellent free wifi, and the bed was particularly comfortable and firm. The room was extra large, with a fireplace and a little seating area (in the one king bed version). I will stay here again for business and for pleasure.

« Spacious rooms - free car parking -good value »

We stayed just one night in September Just a short walk from Cannery Row the hotel is on a main road and our large spacious room had a balcony that overlooked this. Not a pretty view but a high ceiling room with wooden beams. All very clean and with good facilities tea, coffee etc. The rooms were placed around the main building which was a converted Victorian house. The staff were welcoming and polite Breakfast was complimentary and buffet style and included sausage and eggs, cereals and fruit. All fine Free WIFI and car parking Though clean , comfortable and well situated we would not stay again. There was no wow or great views

« Great find. Great location »

We stayed here two years ago with a group. Our satisfaction then lead us to reserving a room here again for three nights visiting the Aquarium, Carmel, etc. with college friends. The Inn's staff and service was superb. The late afternoon "wine and cheese" hour was a nice "extra". The free breakfast buffet was more than adequate for our needs. We didn't have a car, but the Inn has parking for guests. The location was a major reason for choosing the Inn since Cannery Row, the Aquarium, Monterey Bay and many eating choices are within walking distance..

The Victorian Inn in Monterey CA is a wonderful property in the heart of Cannery Row. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean, spacious, and well appointed. The hotel is within walking distance to the Aquarium as well as the Monterey Bay pier. Excellent value. Will always stay at the Victorian Inn whenever in the Monterey area.
