« home away from home »

What I like best about the Normandy Inn in Minneapolis is its downtown location, its ambient atmosphere, the spacious rooms, the excellent food in the restaurant, the welcoming and helpful attitude of the receptionists, calm and quiet nights and restful sleep.

    « Charming Hospitality »

How refreshing to stay somewhere where warm welcome and service is the norm. Highlights of this hotel: water pitcher and real glasses, with filtered water and a great ice machine available on the floor; within easy walking distance of the convention center and several good restaurants; great lounging areas and a wide hall on the main floor. Well-appointed rooms. Yes, as another traveler noted, the walls are a bit thin. Very good restaurant with a superb staff on site.

« Dumpy appearance; surprisingly pleasant »

The place is a few blocks away from the core of downtown hotels and convention center. It is is easily walkable on the street or skyway (once you figure the skyway out...) but to a woman on her own, the surrounding area looks a little dicey after dark. No problems though. The hotel also has a shuttle which will carry you around the downtown. Friendly and prompt drivers. The whole place needs updating, too much brown and beige and shadowed lighting. My room was immaculate but shared that worn out look. Lots of outlets--thank you-- and great shower. The room coffee is dreadful. Go for a better brand and a few half and halfs in the mini frig please. They had just renovated the restaurant, and our dinner was very good. Coffee in front lobby would be an excellent idea. Staff consistently cheerful and helpful.

« Perfect except for noise »

I recently stayed here for four nights and enjoyed most aspects of the hotel: the service was friendly and efficient, especially at check-in; the hotel and room were both clean and updated; my room was very comfortable, and the shower was great. The value was also quite good. My issue was with noise. My hotel room was connected to the adjoining room by a locked door. I was almost constantly bothered by the sounds of people in the next room talking, watching TV, etc. You could hear everything they were saying. It was awful. Even earplugs and the in latest noise-canceling headphone technology didn't help much. I called the front desk and asked to be moved to a room without a connecting door, but they were not able to accommodate my request as the hotel was full. They did offer to send security to my room, but I didn't think that was appropriate because my neighbors weren't being unduly loud or inconsiderate; they were talking and playing TV at a normal volume, the door between our rooms just was not insulating the sound in any meaningful way. I would only recommend this hotel if you can reserve a room without a connecting door. Other than this major issue, my stay was excellent.

    « Here for business »

We traveled here for business and the hotel was great. They have a shuttle that will take you from the hotel to most places downtown including regular trips to the convention center. Friendly staff. Restaurant food not so great but the staff was.

« Minnesota Vikings Weekend Getaway »

We were pleasantly surprised to find our room ready for us at our 9am check in. Our 2nd stay at this hotel and will definitely stay here again. Friendly staff, clean room and common areas. Walking distance to great restaurants.

« "OK", if you must stay here.....and not much else is available..... »

Stayed here for a conference. The convention center is 5 blocks away walking with no above ground walk ways. Walk took about 15 minutes. I took an UBER to the convention center, and it cost $12.50. There is a free shuttle service to the convention center and the lady driver is very nice. Ride was bout 6 or 7 minutes. The hotel room smelled, and when i asked to please be moved, the front staff was shocked as "the room you have is one of our best rooms....and recently updated!". Turning on the AC for for an hour or two got rid of 'most' of the smell. Speaking of the AC, it was pretty loud. The room is 2 or 3 out of 5 at best. nothing special. the shower is very nice though. My rate was about 160$ in early Nov. and i only got this because everything else was $350+. would stay here only if nothing else is available.

    « A hidden treasure »

We stayed her Oct. 25th. It was very quaint. Very quiet. The rooms were very comfortable. The parking was secure we liked that. The pillows were so comfortable and beds too. The restaurant and bar staff was very professional. Not the kind of, "yes sir, no sir" fake stuff, but sincere greetings, thank you, and pride in service. The restaurant food was outstanding at dinner and breakfast. Try the deep fried Cauliflower ! The only complaint, they need complimentary coffee in the lobby in the mornings! There is coffee makers in the rooms but its basically hot water coffee.

    4
    « Economical and Nice! »

I liked the complimentary filtered water, in room coffee service, renovated rooms and nice pool area with hot tub. Hotel restaurant served Norwegian Salmon, Kubocha Squash and Risotto. It was pretty good considering it was Minnesota and fish comes from a long way away. Staff had good service. Clean rooms. Quiet. The pool and hot tub was uniquely located in the middle of the hotel with surrounding rooms where you can look down on the pool area. In the solarium area it was warm enough so you avoid chill while there. Overall this was real nice stay and very economical. I picked up low cost shuttle service to airport coming and going.

    3
    « Enjoyable Stay »

Staff is very friendly and attentive. My room was very clean but the furniture was a bit dated and worn. The hotel is conveniently located, with lots of great restaurants in the area. Chocolate Chip cookies did not disappoint!!

« will find someplace else to stay next time »

Rooms were overly prices for the hotels amenities, service and comfort level. Parking should come included (In my opinion) when you pay so much for a room. We were attending a conference and thankfully didn't have to spend a great deal of time in our room. We did eat in the hotel restaurant and it was fine, nothing exceptional however.

    5
    « A great alternative »

I loved my room. It was a nice walk to the conference center. The hotel had a cool historic feel to it. The staff were excellent. So all in all I am glad I booked here and saved from getting something closer to the conference center. The walks in the morning were fun, and I loved trying to get my conference using the walking bridges (adult habitrails) through out Minneapolis. A front desk attendant told me about the hotel was a historic hide out for some mob bosses way back when. The hotel did have kind of an early century extravagance. When I got to my room there was small couch and a refrigerator, coffee table and I thought, this is way too small for me, then I shut the door and realized the room was a suite with a king sized bed, a GREAT shower, etc. Very happy with my choice.

    3
    « Good hotel »

It's a quite good down town hotel. With friendly service at reception. Good bar and quick attendant. Clean rooms and a good average price per night. Easy downtown parking. Fast WIFI . Quite silent rooms as well.

    4
    « Great Hotel »

I love staying at this hotel right in the Middle of downtown Minneapolis. Feels like a rustic European cottage. There are nicer, fancier hotels but you can't beat this hotel for the price. And don't forget the cookies and milk each night in the lobby. Overall, I would definitely recommend this hotel.

    4
    « Great location/pool/parking/ clean »

Came to MSP for an event at the US bank Stadium. Only 8 blocks. Parking on site. Restaurant on site. Nice pool that gets to 8 ft plus sauna and hot tubs. We had a suite- it was clean, nice size, everything worked. Only reason I didn't do 5 stars is that the King bed was good but not awesome. Linens were soft. Down comforters. Shower was nice and big.

    5
    « Nice stay »

We always stay here when in Minneapolis. This hotel is clean and the staff is very accommodating. I also enjoy the cookies and milk served in the evenings. They are warm, fresh, and homemade. The hotel is always nice and quiet.

    5
« They go the extra mile »

I visited The Normandy Inn for two nights with my family (wife + 10yo and 8yo girls) and we enjoyed the hotel. Nice and clean room, free purified water and overall a great atmosphere. The pool area is also clean and my girls enjoyed it fully. We were extremely stupid to forget our passports in the room safe, but the hotel staff was really helpful and made arrangements to send our passports to the next hotel on our trip via FedEx. Thank you!!!

« Homey Tudor Style Hotel »

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. I expected a typical downtown hotel, but it has a warm welcoming home style. The Tudor architecture, fireplace and home baked cookies are very comforting. My one complaint, and this is a problem with so many hotels, is that I could hear our noisey neighbours through the connecting door. However, the hotel dealt with it immediately. Still, it makes me wonder who thought it was a good idea to have a connecting door between rooms. Those doors should be boarded up across North America. Otherwise this is an excellent and friendly centrally located hotel.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

Friendly staff. Excellent amenities. Clean, nice room. Great pool and hot tub. They offered a shuttle to the State Theatre where we were going to see a concert. It was a great added service. Very convenient off of Interstate -35.

    3
    « Ok in a pinch »

City was sold out for Ryder Cup so chose this for a business trip. Staff was very friendly, found me a place to work while waiting on room. Room ok. Common areas not great, in need of rehab, but serviceable. But 10 pm cookies is nice.

    « Great location! »

I recently attended a conference and actually booked my room in conjunction with my flight from Spirit Airlines. The package was a very affordable deal. The hotel is a few blocks from the Metro Station which was a very cheap, clean and easy way to get to the airport. The hotel was kind of "interesting" from the outside, but inside it has some very nice updates. The pool/hot tub area is very nice and clean with seating areas. My room on the second floor was very large and looked brand new! It was an easy walk to my conference, to many good restaurants, to the river front etc. I did order room service several times (which was costly but quite delicious). I would stay here again!

    4
« Best location and service, but some drawbacks »

We chose this hotel based on location and price. For both of those, I would give it a 5 star rating. They also had excellent service staff and some nice amenities. There was peeling wallpaper and other signs of wear in the room and hallways. The elevator was small and difficult to navigate with luggage. The views from the rooms, though not essential were of dumpsters, and the outside looks quite dated. My best recommendation is that the staff went above and beyond to serve us. I checked in with them for walking directions to one of my destinations and they even printed a map to help me find my way. The cookies and milk at 10pm made our evening as well. We also chose this room because there were three of us staying for a business trip and the room had two beds and a pullout couch. The pullout was less than we hoped.

    5
    « Excellent downtown location »

I highly recommend this hotel - it is perfectly located within walking distance to downtown locations, easy and affordable parking, clean room, comfortable bed. Had a slight problem with receiving poor instructions at check-in, otherwise friendly staff.

    « Medtronic Run Hotel »

Great location to the starting line of the run. Very warm atmosphere, next time will spend more time enjoying it. Very convenient parking. Located close to the Hen House which is a great place to eat breakfast.

    4
« Great hotel, nightly rate was very high »

I stayed at the hotel one week for a concert and then again for an NFL game a couple of weeks later and the hotel was great and close to both venues. The rate however rose to over 100.00 USD more than the previous rate on the second stay but it was so busy in the city at that time, that there wasn't much available, so I guess the hotel left us forced to pay the rate and suck it up. :(

    4
    « Terrific »

I stayed at this location based on the numerous positive reviews. They are well deserved. The staff is extremely well trained and definitely aim to please. Milk and cookies at bedtime is a nice touch. Could they move bedtime up an hour?

« Great little hotel in an very good location »

We arrived at the Best Western Normandy Inn & Suites without a reservation after a problem at a nearby hotel and the reception staff could not have been more helpful in accommodating us. The room was pleasant and a decent size and the hotel is completely different from the usual chain hotels with lots of character. There is a very good car park at the rear of the hotel and it is convenient for shops and restaurants. All in all very good.

    5
« Nice stay, great staff, great location »

This stay was great as I was moving from Texas to Minneapolis. The staff was great, the indoor pool and hot tub were good gathering places for guests. The cookies at 10:00 Pm was just the right desert for the stay!

    5
    « Infection Preventionist »

The beds were very very comfortable. The pillows were amazing. My neck did not hurt in the morning after sleeping on their pillows. Embassy Suites had over booked and had to relocate me to another hotel. It was a win win for me as my stay was excellent!!!! Kimberly Walsh (kahale810)

    « Unknown treasure. »

The Normandy is located in was has finally become a new and up and coming part of the city. It is clean and comfortable with an above average motel/hotel restaurant. Great location for the new U. S. Bank Stadium. Good parking and friendly staff.

    « Almost great »

Very well situated in bustling Minneapolis the Normandy Inn is a big box ticker in terms of quality. Our room was generous sized and immaculately presented. Fridge microwave and LCD TV as well as free WiFi. This is quiet, welcoming hotel that affords the weary traveller rest & relaxation. A few things to note though are that a significant automatic gratuity charge is made when dining which I find distasteful Also the hotel staff weren't helpful at all regarding cashing travellers cheques. Not points to deter from staying but certainly worth noting all the same.

    5
« Another great stay at Normandy »

You can't get a better value in downtown Mpls. Restaurant is awesome (even while being redone) and having surface parking with unlimited access and no valet is a big value. The location is convenient and the area is normally quiet when there is no construction going on. The Normandy has a quaint, old English feeling to it and its lobby and the warm cookies at night are very welcoming.

    5
« Nice hotel, good location »

This hotel was perfect for our trip. Getting here in rush hour traffic was a mess but after we were in the parking lot, everything was a short walk away. And the things that we couldn't walk to, we would walk a few short blocks to the light rail and hop on and ride there. The only thing we had an issue with was the toilet sometimes flushing on its own. Which wasn't even really an issue.

    5
    « Great Unique Motel »

This has always been a unique and very appealing motel right from the first day we stayed here. That was over five years ago and we have made this motel a first & only choice when traveling to Minneapolis, MN. They do room renovations and restaurant make overs from time to time. Nothing every looks shabby or worn out. They very attentive to appearance and quality of service. We appreciate all the thoughtful efforts.

    « Clean, Comfortable, Classy »

When I made the reservation, I asked for early check-in and was able to check in a couple hours early. This is not guaranteed, but a request can be made. I was driving seven hours to get to an interview the same evening, and check-in was easy, everyone was friendly and helpful from the desk clerks to the maids. The rooms are elegant and comfortable. Everything in the room worked well. I had some trouble finding the iron, but did. It was in the closet, up above the shelf and sort-of above the door. I had my dog with me and everyone welcomed him, too. There is a $10 charge for pets, but they do not limit the size or breed. Nice. The room was amazingly clean. It was nice to not be charged a pet fee and then have to stay in a stained room. Got to my interview freshly showered (love the products at the hotel), shirt ironed, and refreshed. Ordered room service for dinner and everything was great. I had the Caesar salad, pork tenderloin, and a piece of apple pie. I recommend all. The man who took my order claimed to want the last slice of apple pie, but I got it. Although I thought it was a ploy to get me to order it, the pie was out of this world, and I wish I'd gotten an entire pie and brought it back with me. It was that good--homemade crust was as flaky as it should be. Breakfast is not included in the price of the room and coffee-to-go costs as well. That is disappointing, and although I understand the restaurant issue, I do wish they had offered coffee and bagels/pastry/doughnuts/something in the price of the room. I did order eggs Benedict. It was OK. Could have been better. Others were ordering basic breakfasts and seemed to enjoy them.

    4
« Very nice, we will be back. »

The staff here are so friendly! From the very start the front desk gal was so sweet. Very helpful in arranging a shuttle in the morning and offering a wake up call. We didn't eat in the restaurant but had a couple of cocktails. Bartender was very nice. We were there at the end of the night but he still made us feel welcome, not like he was ready to kick us out. Very spacious breakfast area with great coffee! Clean and friendly! What more could you ask for!

    3
« Stains on night stand »

For the money it's not too bad for downtown Mpls. Beds are a little old, shower drain backs up from all the ripe away shampoo and conditioner containers plugging it up. I am use to all white linens but they don't have. Huge white stain on nightstand I apparently slept next to for three nights.

    5
    « vikings trip »

this was a great place to stay food was awesome waiters were great it was close to metro train and bus routes great location to downtown and other restaurants will be better when renovations are done great area

    4
    « Happy in NJ »

The location of this hotel is 2- 3 blocks from the Metro which everyone should use to get around the city. The exterior of the hotel is not really very attractive and had me concerned when we pulled up especially since there is very litmited space to check in and can be next to impossible if a tour bus is unloading guest. The interior of the hotel is beautiful.

    « Pleasant stay »

My brother and I traveled to the Twin Cities to visit our sister and her family. The Normandy Inn was very conveniently located to both my sister's home in Saint Paul and to the sights in Minneapolis. Even though there was construction on the surrounding streets and in part of the lobby area, it created no problems. Parking was on-site and convenient. Our room was clean and was nice. We enjoyed the black-out curtains and the filtered hot and cold water available near the ice machine. We had one glitch that could have been embarrassing -- upon checking in, the room we were given was occupied by another guest. However, the occupant of the other room and I went to the front desk and the problem was quickly and courteously fixed, although no real explanation was given for the mix up, Other than that, our stay was very pleasant.

    « Would stay again »

Nice midrange option for the city. Warmly decorated, very clean. Parking was 9$ a day. Rooms were quiet- didn't hear too much outside noise even with construction going on. Good location to walk around the city.

    4
    « Friendly, helpful staff »

We arrived early for the Vikings and Packers football game on September 18th at the US Bank Stadium and was able to check into our room right away. We had breakfast at the restaurant at the hotel and had the Eggs Benedict. Which was recommended from other reviewers. Was very tasty and I would have it again if staying there. We Also ate there for supper and had the burger and fries. Great as well. We also sat in the bar right off the restaurant and had a great experience with the bartender Zach. Food a bit pricey and drinks and beer pricey as well but not much within a 7-8 block radius of the hotel for food. You could probably take a taxi and explore the riverfront which is noted to have excellent restaurants. We were there on a Sunday so no bars open and no alcohol sold other than at the hotel and football game. Our room was totally awesome! Bed was very comfortable and tons of pillows. We ate the next morning at the restaurant and had the classic which consists of choice of breakfast meat, hash browns, eggs and one piece of toast. Again, we would order this if staying there. Bacon was thick and awesome. perfectly cooked and not too salty and seemed to be a bit sweet. Yum! We flew so we went with the hotel's recommendation of hiring Salah to pick us up at the airport and take us to and from the hotel. We highly recommend him! Limo service for 40 one way. He kept in contact with us and was there within minutes of when we needed him. Very knowledgeable of the city .

    « Great price, but... »

We stayed here because it was cheaper than any other place around and we will be visiting a lot due to having season tickets for the Vikings and we live in TN. Hotel staff is awesome! Very nice and helpful even if they couldn't do much about what everyone was complaining about. The temperature in the room and bar area. We had our air set on 66 but we couldn't sleep because it felt like it was 77 in the room. The hotel is older so it has a weird musty smell. The bathroom had a toilet like you would see at a bar and use your foot to flush (we didn't do that, it just reminded me of it). Hotel is close enough to walk to great eats though and take the tram car from airport to hotel to everywhere. We did have breakfast for room service and it was great and affordable.

    5
« We will be coming back! »

Our family loves the Normandy. Super comfortable beds, large room and nicely decorated. I love that the hotel strives for the French look and has a classic decor in the lobby, entry and bar. I am so tired of hotels that think they are stylish if they are sterile and decorated with circles on the wall. Bravo Normandy for having true style.

    4
    « Stay here! »

We came to Minneapolis for the Vikings/Packers game and chose this hotel for its easy access to US Bank Stadium (10-15 minute walk) . Downtown can be a little crazy for parking, but the hotel offered a special rate so we didn't have to pay an outrageous charge (ask about it when you call). Overall, the hotel was clean, quiet, and comfortable. The only thing I felt was a little misleading was the website said "free breakfast". I was thinking continental, but that was not the case. They do have a restaurant attached the hotel, but with all the other options around town, we did not eat there. There was a lot of construction going on near the Nicolet Mall so check into that before you make your plans.

    5
« We Never Go Anywhere Else in Mpls »

This place has everything going for it. It's not high end, just clean and comfortable. The location is good, the rooms are nice and staff are friendly and helpful. We don't stay anywhere else when we travel to the Twin Cities. We think it's a hidden gem.

    5
« An affordable yet comforatble place to stay in Minneapolis »

I was pleasantly surprised with the comforts at the Normandy Hotel, as I usually stay in Hilton family hotels. The KB was wonderfully comforatable, the guest room was large, clean, and well-appointed, the hotel staff were pleasant, accomodating, and helpful, the lobby was inviting, and the restaurant and bar were delightful. I would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Clean, good value »

Added a couple days in Minneapolis just for fun. Looked for a B&B but settled for a hotel downtown. This is a good option, close to both stadiums, dining and bars. The Skyway system is close in poor weather, too. Room was very clean, and a light-blocking shade a welcome feature. Staff very helpful. Parking at $9/day a decent value.

    5
« Classic hotel, great location »

We stayed at this hotel for just one night in June ... in town for a concert. Easy walking distance to the Orpheum and lots of restaurants. Friendly staff. The place feels a little dated (mostly the exterior and lobby, not the rooms) but we loved it. My only issue was that they closed the bar at 11! Good parking on site, easy in and out, nice sized rooms. Would definitely stay there again.

    5
    « Great Staff »

Staff was very kind and courteous. They treated my family like guests and were very helpful despite being busy. I also like the location in downtown Minneapolis. It was about a 10 block walk to Target Field. They have a shuttle available, but we walked.

« Great hotel!! Loved the milk and cookies at 10pm!! »

I booked this hotel online because they accepted pets and offered sofa sleeper suites!! We were in town to visit the Mall of America and this hotel wasn't too far from it! Just a short drive!! Our room was very spacious for a family of 5 with a dog!! We also had a microwave and a mini fridge!! Separate bedroom Room, living room and bathroom was clean, front desk was nice checking in and the hotel itself was clean! Our kids loved going down to the lobby at 10pm for the milk and chocolate chip cookies!! They went back twice!! The cookies were warm, gooey, and delicious!!!! It was a huge hit with other guest too because we had to wait in line so get there early!! Great stay, comfortable beds, great inside pool, jacuzzi, and sauna!!! « Excellent--Great Location, Staff and Lovely Hotel »

Just a great hotel---lovingly cared for and staff is top notch. Perfect location for all that downtown Minneapolis has to offer (just a few blocks from best restaurant in Minneapolis---Hell's Kitchen). Highly recommend.

« Best stay of our vacation »

We have stayed at this hotel before and will come back again! We love this place. It is convenient to downtown Minneapolis and the train and bus system. You don't have to use your car if you don't want. If you do however the parking lot is right outside the back door and the $9/day fee is the most reasonable that I have seen. Staff are so helpful, pleasant and accommodating. We couldn't have asked for more. We actually checked out and were on our way out of town when we decided to stay in town when we were able to get tickets to the last preseason Vikings game. We weren't gone more than 45 minutes when we returned and were able to stay another night! This is definitely a hotel I will stay in again and again.

Perfectly situated few blocks from Conv Ctr and downtown sites, shops and restaurants. Staff was extremely helpful, attentive and courteous. Setting was older, classic but very clean and welcoming. Room was ample and well maintained.

    « Beautiful property »

I had a great nice stay! I Stayed here because of the location, it felt so comfortable! I am glad we decided to stay here! It was a quick check in time and I was able to get to my room right away. I only stayed one night, but was very pleased!

« Great place to stay when visiting Minneapolis »

The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly. My wife and I were very happy with our decision to stay here. It's located within walking distance of US Bank Stadium, Target Field, Target Center and several good restaurants, like Manny's or Hell's Kitchen. The Hotel also has a good restaurant on site and provides free milk and cookies at night. We will be trying to stay here on my next visit to MN.

« Dated outside, nice inside »

Our experience with best western hotels has been uneven, but this one was a winner. The location is central to downtown and close to the new stadium. Lots of construction all over downtown including in front of the hotel, so the initial approach is difficult, but once you figure out to approach the hotel from the parking lot side, it becomes very convenient. On the exterior, the hotel is old school Tudor style. The common areas are are dark, but spacious. Our room was one of their last king suites, so the access was from a separate hallway only accessible by a small flight of stairs. This made bringing in luggage inconvenient since you could not roll up the loaded cart to the room. The room itself was very nice: large sitting area, big bedroom and lovely bathroom. Overall, it worked very well for us.

« Nice hotel and "comfortable." »

We stayed here initially because it was close to the hospital. However, the rooms are so nice, feel 'homey' and rich we have come back several times. Also the restaurant and bar are both great. We didn't have to leave to have great cocktails and a fantastic meal. It's clean, plush and very nice. Don't let the exterior fool you, it's great and the price is reasonable for downtown.

« Nice reasonable place in downtown Minneapolis, good food too. »

Older Norman style decor in the hotel, which I thought had just the right amount of 70's built into it. Rooms, however have all been updated and are fine. Nice holidome type pool area, with clean pool and hot tub, and some nice lounge chairs for relaxing. We had a pet with us and they had a reasonable pet fee, and the room rate was cheaper than other properties in the area. There are some shelters in the vicinity so be prepared for that.

« Don't be fooled by the dated exterior. »

Location and affordability were the keys to my decision to stay at the Best Western plus Normandy Inn and suites. You can't beat the location in terms of the proximity to US Bank Stadium, the new home of the Minnesota Vikings. We attended a concert at the Stadium and it was just a 3 block walk. The exterior is extremely dated but I thought the interior had been upgraded recently and was fine. And the price was outstanding for downtown Minneapolis. I suggest a 3 block stroll to the "crooked pint" for an outstanding burger and affordable drinks.

    « It is a winner. »

Today, it is so nice to find a hotel that is quiet, clean, spacious, and friendly. The Normandy Inn meets all of these needs. Location is a priority and this hotel is perfect when you want to be downtown Minneapolis. The beds were so comfortable. We had a great nights sleep plus we were able to walk to an excellent meal at Murray's.

« Great hotel close to U.S. Bank Stadium! »

Within walking distance to U S Bank Stadium, has a pool (8 feet deep at one end.) Room was clean, parking was only 9 dollars. We will be back when we go to an event at the stadium! We stayed in room 342. Only complaint we had was although they do have a shuttle service, they would not let us take it to Brit's Pub. We have stayed at other hotels where the shuttle would even pick us UP from a restaurant/bar. Shuttle only goes to certain locations.

« Spend your money elsewhere »

I reserved this hotel 5 months ago when we got tickets to a concert at the new stadium. I picked this one because it was a close walk to the concert venue but should have done more homework. The check in process was great, they let us in early and the staff was very helpful. When we travel I look for a place with a bar and food options and looked like this fit the bill. We had been traveling and just wanted to sit at a bar and have lunch and a beer. We were told we couldn't sit in the bar so we took an uber downtown where there are many options. Friday night the bar stayed open until 1 and there was a lively crowd. Saturday we got back from the concert and were turned away due to "lack of business" as the manager told us. They basically didn't want to stay open. There were at least 30 people wanting to get in. We again took an Uber downtown with some other hotel guests. Bottom line stay downtown around target field because there is nothing around this hotel and they obviously don't care to provide food and drink. We really tried to like this place. The bar staff makes me give this whole place a bad review even though the front desk tried to make us happy.

    « good job »

Nice place to stay in downtown Minneapolis. Close to Target Field and US Bank Stadium. We walked to both. I was also able to park my car there for 5 days on a 2 day stay and trip out of town and back.

    « Forever Royal!!!! »

Second trip to Minneapolis to watch the Royals vs. Twins. Loved this hotel. Very clean and close to all the great places to eat and nice walk to Target Field. Stayed here in 2014 and will definitely come back next year!

    « Milk and cookies at 10pm! »

Considering the surrounding hotels were upwards of $200, this place was at least in the $150 range, so we decided to try it. It looks like they're going through some renovations because some of the windows were boarded up on the one corner, so I was a bit nervous, but it was actually quite beautiful and almost historic looking inside. Plus, at 10pm, the serve warm cookies and milk in the lobby. We were bar hopping and made sure to make it back for the sweet evening treat. They had a shuttle to the Twins game, which was another big draw, but it wasn't as far as I had thought and we walked instead. The area around this place looked pretty safe, but there were some other areas in Minneapolis that were a bit sketchy, so we took an Uber back to the hotel at night. I'd probably go back to this hotel if I go to see another baseball game. It was clean and well maintained inside, no complaints about anything in the hotel room, or anything like that. Everyone was super nice when asking for directions on how to get to different places. A storm knocked us out of the Internet a few times, but there's really nothing the hotel could do about that.

« Always a very nice place to stay. »

The Normandy is our favorite place to stay in downtown Minneapolis. It's even better now with the Government Plaza railway station two blocks up the street. The poolside rooms are really a good way to stay and relax while exploring the big city.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise and very close to the convention center. The amenaties within the hotel that were included which was one reason why we selected the hotel. Large rooms, comfortable beds, very clean

    « great location »

The Normandy is located right in the middle of downtown- an easy walk to the stadium, restaurants, bars and scenic destinations. The on site parking is a plus and at a pretty decent rate. The shuttle service is a great option for getting to the stadium.

    « a real "sleeper" »

Due to some work at our home we needed a place to stay for a number of nights. The Normandy Inn and Suites is right down the block from our offices, so that seemed logical. WE LOVED IT!! While it might have a sort of "tired" exterior in places, the interior and the guest rooms were FANTASTIC! The food and service in the restaurant was out of this world! (Best chef in Minneapolis, hands down!) The staff couldn't have been more professional or friendly, and we felt that they really put a great face on Minneapolis to out of town visitors! THANK YOU NORMANDY!!!

    « Great experience »

Have stayed at this hotel multiple times over the last few years due to health concerns. Location to the hospital we were located at was great (2 blocks). The staff is always pleasant and helpful. They try to accomadate as best as possible. Love the cookies and milk at 10pm. Close to many different attractions. Rooms have always been very clean and nice. The food might be a tad spendy then what we are used to but well worth it.

« Best Western Normandy Inn & Suites »

Enjoyed our stay at Best Western Normandy Inn & Suites. The hotel is quaint and comfortable. Hotel staff was professional and courteous. The quality of the hotel is well worth the value not to mention conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis.

    5
« Good rooms for a reasonable price in downtown Minneapolis »

This is clearly one of the older properties in downtown Minneapolis, but the rooms have been updated and well maintained. The staff were friendly and helpful. The free WIFI was great and worked well. The room prices were comparable to or slightly cheaper than other properties in the area, but like all downtown hotels they are more expensive than hotels outside of the downtown region.

    3
    « Best Western Normandy »

The hotel was in a good location, but it was older but they were in the process of remodeling. Our room smelled musty. The room itself was nice and the cleaning staff were good. They didn't offer breakfast which was a disappointment. The check-in staff were very friendly and helpful.

    4
« Great for in City Walking »

Had to train for work in down town Minneapolis and did not have to take the car out of the hotel lot the whole stay. Was nice to walk and safe neighborhood. Close to Walker Art Museum and great eats on Niccolette Street. Vikings Stadium in only a few blocks as well.

    4
    « Convenient Location »

This hotel gave a weird first impression. It's an older hotel and the area on two sides is currently under construction. We checked in at night, and the clientele in the parking lot looked a little iffy. But once inside the hotel is really interesting. Our room was very nice, clean, and quiet. We heard absolutely no downtown street noise. Everything was quite comfy, and the chocolate chip cookies at 10 p.m. were a nice touch. It took a couple days of exploring downtown Minneapolis to begin to appreciate the location of this hotel. It's within easy walking distance to shopping, great restaurants, and the Stone Arch Bridge park and trail. Parking is plentiful and, at $9 a night, is the cheapest among the downtown hotels. I don't think the hotel offers breakfast, and we weren't informed there was a pool at check-in, so we never saw it. I don't think we got the full advantage of the hotel, but overall it was decent with a good location at a reasonable price.

« Milk, cookies and parking issues. »

I stayed at the Normandy while on a baseball holiday. The hotel is about a 20 minute walk from Target Field and they offer a courtesy shuttle for those for whom the walk would be a bit of a challenge. The room was clean, beds were comfortable and all the little amenities one expects were there. Alongside the ice machine there was a cold water dispenser so we could have ice water in the room. There is a small firness centre & a nice pool. We didn't try the restaurant or bar. The staff at the front desk were all courteous & efficient. Ditto the cleaning staff. The only minor quibble I might have is they charged us for parking then on weekdays they also rented out parking spots to people working downtown so, on a couple of occasions we couldn't find an actual parking spot & had to park alongside the building in a breezeway. I would suggest if you're going to charge guests for parking you should ensure they actually get a parking spot. All in all, it was a pleasant and affordable stay and they serve milk & cookies in the lobby every night at 10. How could you not like that?:

    4
    « Quick night stay »

We were walking distance from the Target Center. it was a good mile, but very doable. We were placed in a room overlooking the pool, and all we could hear were children screaming. we called the front dest and within minutes a staff member brought us new keys to a room across the hall. I was very impressed at how quickly they responded. Kudos to them! The linens and bed were great! thats all we had time for.

    « Downtown »

Always stay here for football season. Wonderful help and a great pool and hot tub. Our room which I request all the time just had a smell to it. Couldn't pin point it and didn't complain. Sitting area around pool is great also. There is some construction or remodeling going on.

    4
    « Good location »

Great hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Easy to walk around places and easy access to Metro. Breakfast was good. Nice staff and great room. Easy parking outside. We did not use pool, so no experience with that.

« Can't beat the price for downtown »

Great affordable downtown spot. Close to the blue line to take to Mall of America, and close to US Bank Stadium. Construction was going on but what can you do, it definitely wasn't disruptive. Cookies were awesome! The only thing we complained about was that there was no fan in the bathroom, but we liked that the sink area was separate from the toilet/shower.

« Business Trip to Minneapolis »

Attended two days of legal proceedings held in the hotel Boardroom. Stayed at the hotel and ate several meals in the dining room. Short meeting in the lounge. Although the exterior of the property with construction scaffolds and board-ups were a bit disconcerting, once inside, all was well. The property is well maintained, comfortable and clean. All staff were professional and attentive. Highly recommended for budget business travel.

    « I don't know what this means »

The hotel is a quality stay near the convention center. There are not too many restaurants in the area. It is close to the I-94 interstate, so access is good. The hotel is a bit outdated in the lobby area, but the pool and rooms are nice.

« Will Remember This Place! »

We were in town for a vacation at the MOA, and we had tickets to the Twins game. Despite the construction downtown on nearly every street, we found the Inn without too much trouble. The staff was very helpful is getting us acclimated! The pool and hot tub were the best we had the entire week. The room was large and clean! They even had adjoining rooms. We will remember this place the next time we are in Minneapolis. Worth the stop. Oh.....they even shuttled us to the night game and picked us back up! Not fighting traffic and construction? PRICELESS!!!

    « Great Location! »

I've stayed at several hotels in the downtown area and this was by far the easiest to get to! Right off of 35W, easy parking! Several great restaurants and shopping within walking distance. Rooms were great, clean. Our AC went out at 2 am, we were moved to the room next door. We were given $100 off our rate at check out which was a nice surprise. The cookies were yummy, but to try and get one from the lady handing them out was difficult! She was not going to let us take one to our friend in the bar and when she came in to give her one, wouldn't let anyone else have one in the bar. It's not even about the cookie, it was how she spoke to the couple next to me. He asked for another cookie, she wouldn't let him have one, he asked why she was being so stingy, being funny... her response- Don't be so rude, we provide these free of charge to you and she went on and on about these goofy cookies! OMG, we paid $200 a night for these rooms and you won't let the poor guy with his wife on their anniversary have an extra cookie?? It became quite comical. Everyone else, from the front desk clerk, to maintenance, to the bartender were great, excellent customer service! Cookie lady, not so much... you never berate a guest, especially over a cookie! Overall, great place to stay!

    « Normandy Inn & Suites - Surprising Quality »

I booked a room for two nights in Minneapolis to attend a conference. It was the least expensive of choices provided by the conference booking agency and within a short walk to the convention center. While the exterior may not have the same appeal as the Hyatt of Hilton, this hotel was outstanding and a great value. It turned out to be a short walk to Target Field also. The hotel was extremely clean, nice room, quiet, and the restaurant food was equal to anywhere else in town. I was extremely impressed with the food quality. The staff were friendly and helpful.

« Good rates, great parking, good location »

The staff here is always very friendly and pleasant. Very close to Hennepin ave, we walked there. Lots to do nearby. Rooms very clean and quiet. Their Parking is the best around that area making it real easy to run out for anything you might have forgotten.

« Interesting interior, ok stay. »

Stayed two nights as part of a road trip from Chicago to Los Angeles. Plenty of car parking at $9 + tax per day. Staff very friendly and welcoming Good size room, clean and tidy. Small fridge. Medium size flat screen TV with plenty of channels. Comfortable beds. Wi-Fi ok at around 4mbps. Bathroom clean and tidy but small with separate basin which is not practical or hygienic! Also a very small amount of counter top and shelving so difficult for three peoples bits and pieces. Fairly clean and tidy but tile grout needs some deep cleaning! Didn't use pool or breakfast area (no free breakfast). Hotel is central to city, walking distance to many visitor areas. The Mall of America is a fairly quick drive via the freeway? worth a visit! Interesting interior to the hotel, well presented, reasonable stay.

« good location, good hotel, quiet perfect »

Hotel is downtown, not for far from the Stone Arch Bridge. Hotel architecture is surprising, amazing. Inside it is nice. It includes a pool and a fitness center but I didn't use it. - no time. The breakfast is not a buffet but it is fast, great and cheap.

« Nice Hotel but not so pet friendly »

Really is a nice hotel but our experience was marred by a ridiculous pet agreement. I've attached a picture of it. We reserved our room several weeks ahead and we're not told that someone would have to be in the room with our Bichon 24/7 when we called to make the reservations. We have traveled extensively with our well behaved dog and have never seen such an outrageous pet agreement. Of course, there were no last minute pet friendly vacancies in other hotels when we were presented with this after traveling well over 1000 miles!

The price was right. We had two rooms and they were both clean. The staff was courteous and helpful. Very hot day - used the shuttle service. Walked back from the venue - it was easy and safe. Would go there again

    « Nice hotel »

This is a nice hotel and reasonable price for the accommodations. The staff was very helpful and courteous. The location is good too, not too close to the freeway and still within walking distance of pretty much everything downtown. If I find myself back in Minneapolis again, I would definitely stay here again.

    « Hotel Stay »

I thought everything was great but the food was uneventful. There was not much of a variety in selection of food to choose from, and when you are on a limited business budget, there was even less of a choice of food to pick from.

« Overcharged over $200.00 on credit card. »

Whole area under construction so driving around tenuous. Restaurant closed so we could not get lunch. 2girls and one guy screaming at each other at 1 AM out in back parking lot....no security. When we returned home and checked our credit card, Best Western + Normandy in Minneapolis had two additional charges totalling over $200.00....above and beyond our room charge. What?!?! I called and was told it was a damage deposit and would be "dropping off" my credit card in several days. We have never had this happen and don't plan on staying at another BW if this is their policy. What is the scam....

    3
« don't let the exterior fool you »

ok, this is undoubtedly the ugliest exterior i have ever seen. what were they thinking? the inside is not nearly so bad - the inside common areas are better and the rooms are pretty comfortable. the restaurant and bar are serviceable. pool pretty good. no vending machines on any floor( you have to by things from the desk ). good location but if you have a car they charge you to park . the biggest complaint is we stayed five nights instead of the reserved four and they charged us a whole lot more for the extra day ( a tuesday! ),

    « Normandy Inn Minneapolis »

I've stayed at this hotel twice. Once in July 2015 and again in July 2016. If I go back to Minneapolis in 2017 I'm sure I'll use it again for the following reasons: (1) Conveniently located. I was able to walk to most of the things I wanted to do. It's in the downtown area. (2) On both visits the hotel was clean in all public areas I could see such as the lobby and bathrooms. And they put out a water tank filled with fruit in the lobby for anyone to drink from. It's great to use this on hot days. (3) People working at front desk were pleasant and helpful with questions I had about the area and other things. (4) Cost. I paid what I would consider reasonable prices both visits. several other hotels I looked into in the same vicinity were more expensive. I like this hotel and will reuse it until they give me a reason not to. but I really doubt that will happen.

« Cozy Place To Overnigt Post NFL Game »

Stayed here in December 2009. Firstly the hotel staff were very understanding at my late arrival. I missed my flight the night before and telephoned the hotel as soon as I landed. As I was staying in Best Western O'Hare and had to pay extra for this room, I wasn't charged for the night I missed. The next day when I checked in, was told that I couldn't check in until the afternoon. The staff at reception were able to keep my luggage until check-in which was really appreciated as I had to attend a Bengals v Vikings game at the then Mall of America Field. There was free cookies in the evening and hot chocolate/coffee! Slept really well!

    3
    « Pretty good »

First of all, beware of the construction going on. The whole block where the main entrance is located is closed to traffic and parking, even for check in. That alone was a major hassle. The rooms are updated and comfy. Best pillows I've had. The restaurant has very good breakfast food, if not a bit pricy. The AC window unit is loud when it kicks in. Probably would have been 4 stars without the construction.

    5
« Great hotel for a downtown stay!! »

We needed easy access to the stadium downtown and the price was right. The room was neat and clean, parking was included in the rate, the swimming was spacious and inviting. The restaurant staff was a bit odd but I wouldn't hold that against the hotel in terms of a rating. We would stay again!

    5
    « Pretty, clean, sophisticated »

Very nice hotel. If you are traveling with kids, book a room that opens onto the pool area, which is spotless. The whole property is very clean and lovingly maintained. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean. Beds are comfortable. There WAS some construction noise on the dates we stayed but it was city street construction and couldn't be helped. Warm chocolate chip cookies and milk nightly. No continental breakfast at this location.

    5
« Perfect location for a business trip »

The third annual visit to the Normandy Best Western Plus for me. Normally a two night stay before flying back home. I like the location, it's a 'strange' little hotel, based amongst the skyscrapers of Minneapolis. This makes it a perfect place to stay in the downtown region with 30 minute links to the airport via the tram. The rooms are very comfy, the bar is extremely friendly and the food is great. Not the cheapest hotel but it is for the location.

    4
« Great hotel in downtown Minneapolis »

I'm usually reluctant to stay in Best Western hotels without a direct referral from someone I know and trust. However, for a work trip, this hotel was the closest to our meeting facility, and the reviews were good. The room was clean, large, and well maintained. You are downtown, within walking distance of Target Field and US Bank stadium. The attached restaurant was good for breakfast, if a little pricey, but not outrageous. I have no reservations recommending this hotel to others, and will stay here again if in downtown Minneapolis!

« Excellent Value Hotel in the Heart of Minneapolis »

Spent a week at this hotel with a large group of colleagues. Large groups are traditionally difficult to handle, from check-in to check-out, with the different small and big issues arising from sheer number of people all with different preferences, requests, prob;ems etc. However this hotel and its wonderful staff took it all in stride and handled it wonderfully. Positives: - Staff, staff, staff! Can't speak highly enough about he polite, helpful and knowledgeable people who work here. Great job! - Rooms: clean, spacious, comfortable, with all the necessary things that a hotel room should have. - Pool. Free pool! - Hotel has free WiFi. Negatives: - Breakfast was not included in our Government rate, so we had to pay separately and it was a bit on the expensive side with an omelette, toast and OJ amounting to $20 at the hotel restaurant. It's tasty but it's pricey. - Hotel has a gym - a huge positive, hotel gym is on a small side and around 7AM it was almost always really busy - not a huge positive. However, I was jet-lagged and worked out around 5-6AM, so not that many people were around. Overall, a wonderful place, enhanced greatly by their staff. We will surely return.

    « Great bargain downtown »

My companion and I had tickets for an event at the State Theater. There must have been a convention in town because prices for rooms were much higher than previous stays in downtown Minneapolis. Thankfully, the Best Western still had some rooms left under $200/night. I also liked that parking was reasonably priced and not valet parking. We have a motorcycle so we prefer self park situations. I panicked when I saw the construction on the side of the hotel. I am a light sleeper. Thankfully, I could not hear it in my room. The hotel has a retro charm that not all may appreciate. I thought it was fun. The staff was very friendly. When we checked in, the man offered us a shuttle ride to the theater. We decided to walk because the weather was beautiful. Our room had the most comfortable beds. There was a water dispenser with a reverse osmosis system on our floor. What a great idea! I did notice a bit of dust on our lamp, but everything else was clean. The refrigerator kept our beer cold. The room was quiet despite hotel construction, street construction and some building going up across the street. We had a little trouble getting out of the parking lot. However, the staff was able to help us. (No one else had trouble - user error?) We didn't have a chance to user the pool or hot tub.

« Friendly stay in the heart of Minneapolis »

We came for Twin Cities College Tours. The suite was comfortable for us with a teenager. The pool is pleasant and refreshing. Cookies and milk in the lobby was a great touch. The location is great for exploring downtown Minneapolis. The staff was polite and knowledgable. Overall a very pleasant and relaxing stay.

« A good spot in the middle of downtown »

I spent the night while at a conference. They had a good rate and are convenient to much of downtown including a mile+ from Augsburg College. It's a big place and it's laid out a little funny, but once you figure it out it's a hotel, you find your way. I did have a hard time getting to the parking lot due to massive road and building construction. WAZE wants to take you to a different door, not the one you need, FYI. Clean room, quiet and good room service from the Normandy Kitchen. I'd stay here again for sure.

« Don't let the location fool you; not worth the money!! »

The Best Western Normandy Inn is an old hotel in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. While the location is great; the hotel is not. Rooms are old and outdated and there were places in the room that were not very clean and you could tell that they hadn't been given much attention in a while (corners, bed headboard, behind nightstand, shower grout, etc.). Due to the construction on the street, getting into the hotel is problematic if you arrive by taxi (the front entrance is basically blocked off). The saving grace for this hotel is the restaurant; the food is very good, and the staff is nice.

« An unexpected overnight stay in Minneapolis »

Had a great visit at this hotel. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. So glad they had availability for all 5 couples. Had to stay unexpectedly but it turned out fabulous. The bar had incredible food did not expect that. Visited the Mall of America.

« Stay here when you're in downtown Minneapolis! »

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel! The construction outside was a wee bit of a hassle to navigate, but the experience inside the hotel far exceeded my expectations. Comfortable and spacious suite nicely decorated, super-personable staff, good coffee (important!), and easy walking distance to my conference, the Nicollet Mall, and more. The 10pm cookies and milk are worth the trip downstairs! Appreciated the sustainable focus of the hotel, e.g. toiletries, policy for changing linens and towels. Thank you for a wonderful home away from home!

« Good hotel with some difficulties »

The Best Western in Minnesota is a nice place to stay but has some drawbacks. First, I will say that the hotel staff is generally first-rate but the layout of the hotel is problematic. Try to get rooms in the front of the hotel as the rooms on the parking side seem to be filled with kids and other loud people. Noise is a problem. Also, the fitness center is located in an isolated part of the hotel (basement next to the guest laundry). if is adequately equipped. Note that breakfast is not included but if you do indulge, it is not cheap nor are the portions large. Also, not included is a $9/day parking fee. That being said, the rooms are nice, the pool and the hot tub divine and the bar cozy enough to relax in.

    3
« Great location, not a great experience. »

I got to the hotel and the customer service at the desk was very good. However, after checking in and parking and heading up to my room, I realized that there was not a secure entrance from the parking lot. It was basically open to the public with no desk or greeter and no need to use your key card. Feeling a bit paranoid, I then realized that the extra lock on my room was not very secure (loose and wobbly). The view was a nice downtown view and the black out curtains were WONDERFUL. I did not visit the pool nor restaurant. Other complaints: 1. There was food in the fridge, which was NOT mine...YUCK! 2. The water that was offered (via purifier) was not available (machine broken). 3. There were places in the room that were not very clean and hadn't been given much attention for some time (corners, bed headboard, etc.) 4. I tried to watch television and the connection was so bad (digital) that I couldn't even get through 5 minutes at a time without missing either the dialogue or picture (I actually timed this out of curiosity). VERY FRUSTRATING! This happened all evening and while trying to watch the news in the morning. It was a good location for my early morning meeting. With all of the construction downtown, it still took me some time to get there, but it would have taken much longer if I had stayed anywhere else. Overall, I might stay again, if I had an early morning meeting. But it would only be if I couldn't find something else that would work.

    « Best Hotel »

Enjoyed every day stayed! It was a pet friendly hotel which was very important to our family pet. Love the location and the each and every staff was helpful and very polite. Parking was not a problem along with checking in and out. My family loved the 12pm check out time, giving us plenty of time in the morning!

    « Best bed ever! »

It was the best hotel bed and pillow I've ever slept on! Great after a night at a Twins game and a few stops at the local pubs. Excellent service. Would stay here again and again! Great breakfast in the morning!

    « Wonderful hotel »

We have stayed here twice and had great experiences both times. Staff is friendly and willing to help or recommend places. The bar has great wait staff and my cocktail was never empty. Ate at the restaurant one night and it is good plus service was excellent. Train is easy walk for transit if needed. It is my go to place to stay in Minneapolis. Parking is easy and the fee isn't bad for onsite downtown parking.

« Three blocks off the beaten path. »

The room itself was a bit off. I had to haul my suitcase up a flight of stairs and there was no elevator service for the floor. There was also no internet availability in my room -it worked fine in the lobby but not in my room. The staff was more than helpful though and adjusted the cost of my room accordingly. The hotel is three blocks from the light rail and three blocks from a good selection of restaurants and I don't mind a little walking. Room service was a bit inconsistent in terms of quality and availability. One morning they informed me that I could come down to the restaurant and pick up my breakfast as they had no one available to deliver. What sort of service is that? Overall I was happy with my stay especially once they reduced the cost of my room to a more reasonable rate. The front desk staff rocks!

« Nice place in the centre of Minneapolis »

Easy to make a reservation at the site of best western. Good price. Nice room with good beds. Breakfast not included but enough places around! There is a big parking place at the back. By metro also good to reach, 3 blocks away from government plaza station. There is a inside pool, nice but no garden or anything outside.

« Good location, characteristic hotel »

The hotel building is from the 1800's, it still looks beautiful and is well kept. The location is ideal with downtown just being a short walk away. The corridors are wide and have fantastic flooring, which is clearly polished daily. The rooms them self are spacious and airy, and are equipped with a fridge, safe, hairdryer and iron. As well as 2 double beds. The rooms also have plenty of surface space and an armchair and footrest. Free Wi-Fi is also available! Purified water and ice is available from the corridor. There are plenty of towels supplied as well as shampoo, conditioner and body lotion. The bar area is pleasant, though beware, any food has an automatic 20% tip added. The food though, is fantastic and worth the money, I would recommend the steak salad. All in all a great stay, would stay again if I visited Minneapolis again.

    « Great hotel »

The benefits of this hotel far outweigh the minor negatives. It's location is well within walking distance of nightlife. Its $9/day parking with in/out privileges add to its draw. The rooms are nice and clean, the bed is a bit soft, and the staff is friendly. The hotel is dated in some of its decor, reminiscent of a supper club, but the price is right. On site restaurant is good but expensive, same with the bar ($6 for domestic bottle) but you're paying for convenience. The cookies at 10pm are a fantastic addition!

« Decent hotel but very good staff »

Hotel was undergoing renovations and there was construction next door. We woke up to the construction in the morning but the renovations never effected our stay. Hotel is a little outdated but very clean and well maintained. They have small indoor pool and the hotel is withing walking distance of all of downtown Minneapolis. We stayed here and went to a game at Target field, they hotel had a shuttle but my husband and I just walked the 9 blocks, not far at all. The staff at the front desk and at the bar were all very pleasant and helpful.

    5
« All around great stay »

We came in @9pm at the same time as a large group. We were all seen to promptly. Only the bar was serving food - everyone was seen to and the food was very good! Friendly staff, very clean, good downtown location, great food.

« Great Hotel in Downtown Minneapolis »

The hotel has great history and modern amenities. The staff are always courteous and helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of Target Field and Target Center. The is a variety of restaurants and stores within walking distance, including a cleverly hidden 2 story Target a few blocks away. Most streets and avenues in the area are numbers, making navigation simple. The on-site restaurant is very good and the hotel has a tradition of serving cookies before bed. The staff ensure the pool area is quiet and closed at the appropriate time.

« Great sleep in downtown Minneapolis »

I have stayed at the Best Western Normandy Inn at least 3 times before. Although there was construction on the block and renos taking place in one part of the hotel, I was unaffected by noise. The room I had on the first floor was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. I had one of the best sleeps ever at a hotel. The swimming pool was unoccupied in the afternoon and I had a pleasant late afternoon swim. The front desk staff are attentive and the manager is very personable.

    5
« Home away from home »

I have stayed at many hotels over the years, and this hotel was the best ever. Thank you for making my stay away from home a great one. I wish you could train every hotel chain on how great your customer service was. Again thank you and I will stay there every time I am in the Minneapolis area.

« Great choice in Minneapolis »

I visited two nights with my two dogs. Great room, friendly helpful staff. Room service was very good. Nice pool and spa area. Old building is charming, but lots of stairs and doors to hold open, odd floorplan. Overall, I would definitely consider returning to Normandy and fondly remember my stay.

« Group of buddies meeting »

We had a group of buddies come from all over Minnesota and met here for the weekend. Hotel was in a great location as we were going to baseball games all weekend. 8 block walk from target field. Service was great at the desk and in the bar. Gave great suggestions of places to go to eat and have a few drinks. Rooms were ok. Needed to be cleaned better. We stayed in suites and clearly only the surface of things were cleaned. If you moved anything a little you would notice trash and toys left from previous guests. Overall I would go back for another weekend and even bring my family along.

« The Best for Downtown Minneapolis »

The Best Western Normandy Inn is conveniently located in downtown Minneapolis. It is only three blocks from the Metro Transit Government Center light rail stop. The exterior is undergoing some major renovations but these activities do not affect the interior experience. This was my fourth stay and as usual everything worked and was spotlessly clean. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful too.

« Fit The Need Perfectly »

We did a one night stay here for a Twins night game. This is an interesting establishment that controls an entire city block. (not all city blocks are equal but that's OK) You can check in via the front entrance and unload your car at the back of the hotel where the self-parking is. We did not know this was an option and unloaded on the street, then parked the car only to see our best option??no harm, no foul. Great staff at the front desk. Easy walk to Target Field. Easy escape if you are heading south by car after your stay. We would use this hotel again if we were back in town for a Twins game. Thanks for the hospitality Best Western Plus!

    « Great Hotel - Great Staff »

Really great hotel. Stayed in a suite, which featured a fridge, microwave, toaster, and lots of counter and storage space in a room with a sofa bed and some chairs. Main bedroom was spacious with a huge king bed and nice bathroom with shower stall. View was a bit weird - right into another hotel room about ten feet away. Hotel rooms also include pitchers as there are water dispensers adjacent to ice machines. Hotel facilities were great. Lobby area, public spaces and the pool were warm and inviting. Pool and hot tub area was awesome. Lots of sitting space. I wish the pool could be open later, though - especially on weekends. It became a communal social space and the party had to end early. The restaurant attached to the hotel was so-so. Had an issue with breakfast. Ordered a side sausage and received a side bacon. Sausage came later and I was charged for both. I guess I could have made a bigger issue out of it, but the charge should have been removed. Found their menu a bit expensive for what it is when The Hen House is right across the street. Staff at the hotel are awesome. Extremely friendly and professional. Would give the hotel 4.5/5 stars if I could. Still, recommended.

    « Family going to a concert »

Hotel was a good value! We enjoyed the comfortable lobby- piano player and welcoming atmosphere. We also enjoyed the comfortable beds and the fresh water! It was about 6 blocks to walk to Target Field. All the stay at this hotel was very pleasant!

    « wonderful historic hotel »

Loved this place- beautiful exterior- like old world architecture, interior gorgeous rooms very nice and beds extremely comfortable. The only complaint was getting to the hotel was somewhat difficult due to the road construction and building construction taking place. Access to the river and the old flour mill was within easy walking distance, as well as various eating places. Highly recommend this place.

    5
    « Great downtown location »

We had tickets at The Orpheum to see The Book of Mormon in the evening. We were looking for a hotel at a reasonable price within walking distance of good food options and The Orpheum. This Best Western is a historic site at a reasonable price. They have maintained the charm and quality of property.

« Just a delightful hotel to stay in Minneapolis Downtown »

The staff is genuine, the location is outstanding, the pub/cafe is just right and the rooms are just right too. You can walk to some cafes and to Nicollett Mall where all the action in Downtown is. I was there in the summer and so I cannot comment on how it is in the harsh of winter

  • 4
    « Nice looking hotel »

Staff were very responsive and helpful with everything we asked. The hotel looks quite new and is much more charming than most in the downtown area. Construction in the area and in the parking lot made things somewhat more difficult, but the parking lot should be done this week and the rest soon. The street repairs shouldn't be held against the hotel anyway.

    4
    « Good choice »

The hotel is located within walking distance of everything downtown. Plus, the light rail is only three blocks away if you want to venture farther. Easy to get to from the highway and a very helpful staff.

    5
« Excellent place to stay! »

We really enjoyed our visit. Fantastic location for sports fans. We walked easily to Target Field. A shuttle was also offered. We saw it running consistently throughout the day and evening. Very nice looking and well kept building. Helpful and professional staff were always available. Our suite was very comfortable and we would definitely choose to come back.

« Great location, clean and comfortable rooms. »

This is an old hotel in the heart of Minneapolis but it has been well maintained. Price is affordable and parking is reasonable. The rooms are very clean and everything has been updated. It is a 20 minute walk to Target Field and less than that to many great restaurants on Nicolette Street. Staff are great. We only ate breakfasts in the restaurant in the hotel and they were very good. This is the second time we have stayed here and find it so close to two of the best places that are a must see in this city - the Guthrie Theater (take the back stage tour) and the Mill Museum.

    5
« an excellent downtown unique hotel »

Normandy was an excellent downtown unique hotel. Close in, good parking, well-mannered staff, at the desk and maid attendants all. I COULDN'T find better, I am sure. There is a large clean pool area with some rooms opening directly. The food was good, and access to business district and other dining facilities easy.

    4
« Great hotel but beware the sirens »

This is a gem of a hotel with very reasonable prices close to the center of Minneapolis downtown. I have not stayed in many Best Westerns as they have seemed in need of upkeep but not this hotel. Excellent new decor with the rooms modern and comfortable. The resturant is great, way better that one should expect at this price range, the breakfast was truly more than I would expect. They even provide milk and cookies at 10:00pm!! So what is the catch you say?? This hotel is right on the route to Hennepin County Medical Center from I35 so on Saturday night there was a steady stream of ambulances going by complete with howling sirens. Now Sunday night was much quieter so it may be the luck of the draw. So my advice - great reasonable hotel but if you are a light sleeper ask for an inside room over the pool. Otherwise this hotel would be 5 stars for me!

    « Graduation weekend »

Great value and a convenient downtown location. My room was very nice. The front desk personnel were all very helpful and friendly. I enjoyed some time in the hot tub the pool and the workout area. The restaurant and Lounge had excellent service and fare.

« Excellent on all levels »

Had to go to Minneapolis (first time) for a very quick business meeting, but also had the unbelievable privilege to see a musician/concert on my "bucket list". Plus, as an added feature, I got to experience/see the 1st Ave night club made famous by Prince. That aside, the trek from the airport to this hotel was too easy and very cheap! Take the light rail and 20 minutes later you are 3 blocks from the hotel. The entire hotel's décor reminded me of a flashback to 60s/70s, but most definitely in a positive way (i.e. lots of dark wood finishes etc). The staff was very friendly, helpful with directions/ questions, and check in was prompt. The room was well-appointed and clean through out. That is my main concern anywhere and BW Normandy did not disappoint. Beds were very comfortable and there was minimal hallway noise (and no "thin walls" between rooms either). Pricing, I'm sure, changes based on local events i.e. concerts, Viking football, Twin baseball etc) but it was in my price range and a short 15 min walk to the clubs and concert venue (Target Center). I did not get a chance to eat at the adjoining diner nor partake in the evening milk/cookies, but other (return) guests raved about both. I will definitely consider Minneapolis for a re-visit(s) and can assure you I will stay here again.

« Clean, quiet, very nice place! »

Very nice hotel, parking right behind for only $8/day. Clean, beautiful pool with hot tub. The room was clean and bright. You will hear traffic, but....you are in a big city! Resturant in hotel....service is slow, and food is just o.k. Walk 2 blocks down and go to Hell's Kitchen for food....very cool!! Staff is very friendly. They advertise hot chocolate chip cookies at 10pm. We had them before, and they are delicious. This last visit, they ran out, so get there right at 10!!

« Friendly Faces and Beautiful Views »

The employees were some of the nicest I've ever come across! On top of that the rooms were gorgeous and very clean. The pool area and free cookies were a highlight! Great vacation spot! Highly recommended! We had a blast and will definitely come back for the next concert we go to! :)

    « Graduation Hotel stay »

This place is top notch. Staff friendly, helpful, and available. This place is staffed appropriately to meet the needs of guest. Check in was fast and easy. The rooms are gorgeous. We had a graduation reception in one of the banquet rooms. The hotel shuttle our group of 13 to the graduation doors, then picked us up afterwards keeping our group together and not having to fight traffic and parking. We had a pool room with patio furniture right outside the door plus the suite had seating so after dinner we could mingle in that area with our party of 20. It was just unbeatable.

« Cookies and milk at bedtime »

I enjoyed everything about my stay at The Normandy, from the charming surroundings to the complimentary fresh-baked cookies every night at ten. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was quiet and comfortable, the location convenient. I especially enjoyed the artworks along the entrance hallway and in the cozy lobby area. The restaurant was also quiet, the food good, the host and servers friendly and competent. There was live music on Saturday night, a small jazz group and singer. The pool area is a beautiful space, with comfortable chairs where one can keep an eye on their kids while relaxing with the paper or with friends. I would certainly stay there again!

    « great hotel.....lousy on-location restaurant »

Great hotel stay , BUT will never eat at the restaurant on-site again...Prices too high for the small menu and amount of food received....and short of wait-staff....had to flag someone down for everything........BUT.....the hotel part was WONDERFUL !!

    « Look no further »

The cost, location, staff, environmet, amenities, cleanliness and overall atmosphere at The Normandy are absolutely unbeatable. Book in advance; they fill up quickly & for good reason! Reverse osmosis water in lots of convienent locations throughout, w/p spa, sauna, & pool are immaculate, milk & warm cookies served at 10pm, very comfortable beds, spacious rooms and I cannot say enough how welcoming, well versed and attentive every single staff member is! I was a little surprised and slightly dissapointed in the lack of alternative & dairy free milk products.

    « Normandy Inn »

We truly loved staying at Normandy Inn. I personally love the old world decor and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was...as my husband stated...like being back int he womb!

    « Great quality! »

The room was clean and beautiful, the bed was exceptionally comfortable, and the staff were very friendly throughout. It seemed like a great value for a hotel within walking distance of the downtown attractions.

« Ok, but not without disappontments »

I have stayed at the Normandy Inn often over the last 50 years. I will say the rooms are lovely and I was kindly greeted. BUT - never have I stayed in a hotel that will not take room service breakfast orders the evening before. I would have to call when the restaurant opened in the morning, which would have been the time I should be eating. What is the point, then? The front desk didn't even know how to call the kitchen. I was disappointed.

    « Awesome »

This is an adorable hotel. The staff are all accomodating and friendly like family. Lobby is super clean, cozy fireplace for cookies and milk! They offer exceptional free filtered water. Beds very comfortable. Rooms are spacious. Great location downtown. Offer a shuttle to get you around downtown. You can hear church bells chime starting at 7 am.

« The Normandy has it all »

One of our favourite hotels, so well thought out with every amenity on top of a great location, parking, pool, restaurant, bar, room service and a very friendly and helpful staff who are obviously proud of their hotel. Lots of special little touches too, like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies and milk every night at 10pm. We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Minneapolis!

    5
« Good Value and Location »

We stayed at this hotel for one night. The price was fair. Room was clean. Staff were great. Did not get to the pool but would like to come back and have a dip. We ate at the restaurant for dinner and breakfast. Both meals were very good.

« very clean and comfortable »

went for an audition for my daughter in March and spent a night at this place. a very friendly and nice staff. the rooms were clean and quiet despite having a lot of kids. the exercise room was clean but the pool and the pool area was really busy with the tournament parents and children taking over the whole area with their party. the beds were clean and the area was safe with a parking for your car inside their fence. small parking fee but you can't omit that anywhere in a big city

    5
« Nice Stay at this Hotel »

This is a lovely hotel to stay at downtown. Very quiet and comfortable. Not to far from all the activity in downtown. Has a nice home feel to it. I didn't have chance to eat in the downstairs restaurant, but I did have coffee and was nice. I like how they have the commissary and complimentary cookies at night. I do plan to return as soon as possible

    4
    « Congress Stay »

A tired looking exterior, that does not reflect the excellent hotel once inside. Great staff, large rooms and a great restaurant. Visiting a major national conference, the hotel was only a 10 minute walk from the congress centre. The rooms were clean and quiet and the milk and cookies at bed time was a really nice touch

    5
    « A Flawless Stay »

Perfect friendly staff, flawless rooms, all the amenities one could ask for, delicious food, perfect location to downtown Minneapolis, I could not ask for a better all in one location and hotel. I would go back there in a heartbeat and without giving it a second thought!

« Cute Hotel, But Beware »

This hotel has a lot of charm. An older but well-maintained place to stay. Guest rooms are fairly spacious and comfortable. It's a bit of a maze to get around but that's part of the uniqueness and charm. It's what sets this hotel apart from chains like Hilton and Hyatt. But, having said all that, there is massive construction in the area. You don't have to worry much about noise.....at least not at night. That's not the issue. The problem is the traffic. There are detours nearby and traffic is horrendous.....and that is saying a lot from someone who lives in NJ. I was returning one day and was just a few blocks away, but it took me 25 minutes to gets there.....from just a few blocks! It looks like they are building a new stadium in the area. I would be willing to stay here again but not until the construction of that stadium is complete.

    4
    « Conference trip »

Found the location for the Minneapolis conference center very good as it was only a 15 minute walk which I used. The shuttle service was available for any excursions we wanted in the downtown area. Staff was exceptional and the food was above expectations.

« Old is gold. And Value. »

This was a surprising find for me on a business trip. This was one of the cheapest during my travel, so after reading many reviews decided to go with it. It has old charm to it. Pretty clean. I think the most outstanding part of this hotel is their services. Both the front desk and the servers at the restaurant were stellar. The room and bathroom were very clean, except the bed skirt, it made the bed look old and worn out. The flatscreen 40ish inch TV was fed by HD channels, so lots of choices if that's what's important. The indoor pool was small, but decent. If you decide to eat at the restaurant at the hotel, try the risotto. It was phenomenal. Also, there are other restaurants a few blocks away to curb your food needs. Taxi from the Airport with tip runs about $50, but to make things easier, the hotel will arrange a ride for you through partnership with another car company. If you can carry your luggage for a few blocks, the tram is not too far and will cost you under $2.25! And the last thing is that this hotel is pretty close to a skyway. Probably google more about this.

« Very clean, quiet and cozy. Classy place. »

The Normandy Inn is an older hotel that has been very well maintained. It's a few blocks away from the rest of the hotels near the Conference Center, but, well worth the 20 minute walk. Rooms are quite large with very comfortable beds. The front desk staff were very helpful. The restaurant is smaller, but has a great breakfast. Very classy bar area. I especially liked the piano players that seem to show up out of nowhere. It costs a little less and you get a whole lot more calmness than the big chain hotels. I will go back.

    « Better than expected »

Stayed a few nights here on a business trip. Once I opened the door to the room, I was surprised in a good way. It was better than I was expecting. The room was very clean. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. The food was...well, hotel food. I would certainly not eat it again. Close proximity to all that I needed.

    « A Weekend with Co-Workers »

Eleven of us were set to stay in this hotel while vising Minneapolis for business. The hotel is very well kept, the hotel staff were very friendly. The rooms clean & very nice. The shuttle service has VERY limited & I mean VERY limited range. They will not carry you to a restaurant at all . . . they won't carry you to the bus terminal, they won't carry you to the airport. They did carry us to the convention center. It was a nice stay, but I wouldn't have chosen this, if it was personal travel.

    2
    « Wouldn't stay again »

Room smelled had dated décor and was not cleaned exceptionally well, elevator broke and trapped people inside. Restaurant service in the morning was terrible. The water in the shower was either freezing or scalding hot. The air conditioner was very loud. When any door near us closed (slammed if allowed to auto close) our door would shake and sound like someone was knocking .

« Best Value in Downtown Minneapolis »

This place has everything you need and a few things you don't - such as a impromptu piano performance in the lobby which was greatly enjoyed while having a cocktail. This is an older property which has kept the cozy interior and warm public spaces. Rooms are updated. The pool area is lovely with comfortable chairs and couches. The pool area is absolutely immaculate. Great restaurant and bar. Kind and wonderful employees. Cookies and milk at 10 PM. If you are staying anywhere else in downtown Minneapolis, you're nuts! Most beautiful Best Western I have every stayed in!!

    4
« Good for the money »

I looked around for a place that wasn't going to break the bank but had a place to eat and this place fits the bill. Clean and a 10 minute walk to the Convention Center. Also a close entry to the Skywalk.

    « Feels like HOME! »

This hotel is outrageously wonderful! From the minute we checked in at night we were treated like family. EVERYONE we had contact with at this hotel and its restaurant were very friendly and extremely helpful. ALL of the staff go out of their way to get you where you need to go and satisfy every request! I don't care how many beautiful high-rise hotels go up around them....you should NOT miss an experience at this unique family-owned establishment !

« A bit of France in Minnesota »

Really liked this hotel! Nice French décor outside and in, making it different from your typical downtown hotel. Very good value for the money, comfortable accommodations. We used the fireplace lounge area too, and enjoyed drinks from the very good hotel restaurant. The friendly staff rounded out the visit.

    4
    « It was nice »

It was very well suited to our needs - mother was on a business trip, father and baby were along for the ride. The parlor in the king suite worked well to host friends (up to four or five) and isolate the baby for sleeping at night. Hotel staff were all very friendly and helpful.

    « A Gem in Downtown Minneapolis »

I find the Normandy Inn & Suites in MInneapolis very warm and welcoming. It has character, ambience, and exceptional service, as well as a fine restaurant. The staff at every level is helpful and courteous, accommodating individual needs and requests. One of the benefits of staying there is the shuttle to the hospitals nearby with drivers who are polite, kind, and caring.

« Great Hotel nice Value »

Great place, right in downtown Minneapolis. Affordable, clean and great appearance. My only issue was the Suite did not fit my expectation, had called ahead and told it would be two rooms, ended up being one oversized room.

    « So cute! »

A great getaway in the heart of downtown Minneapolis! It's a short hotel so there isn't a view, but the inside is quaint and you won't miss the hustle and bustle of the city. Request a room facing the parking lot to avoid street noise! Super quiet, comfy room, friendly staff, fresh cookies at 10pm- what more could you want in a hotel?!

« Great stay, great location. »

This hotel was very convenient to the Phillips Eye Institute, where I needed to go on short notice. The price was the main reason my brother and I picked this hotel. The sauna was great. It took a little while to navigate the hotel. There were no maps of the floors and halls. The room was very nice, clean, and comfortable. We appreciated the retro look and feel.

    « Unexpectedly pleased »

Went to MN last minute with some friends and their hotel was booked for the discount rate they received. Found the Best Western right next door at an amazing rate and booked there. Walking in I was not quite sure what to expect and thought previous reviews were false, but after the check in experience (wonderful, helpful staff), checking out the room (very clean) and the kids hanging out at the pool; found the hotel to be above my expectations.

    « A gem in downtown Minneapolis »

This was my second time at the Best Western Normandy Plus and it was worth the return. The hotel is beautiful, reminds me of a ski lodge somewhere in Whistler and not a hotel in downtown Minneapolis! The staff were fantastic and friendly, room comfortable, and service top notch! The only thing I'd change is the fitness centre, it is tiny and could use updated equipment. They have milk and cookies at 10pm everyday - lovely touch. I've stayed in 5* hotels around the world that wouldn't compare with the quality, professionalism, value, and simple elegance of this hotel

    « Good and bad »

My wife and I stayed at this location while on a trip to MSP to try and find a place to live after a work-related relocation. We chose a downtown hotel as opposed to one away from the city hoping it would provide an overall nicer experience. This downtown hotel was reasonably priced compared to the others in the area. The overall feel of the hotel was decent, however it seems to be an older hotel and the bathroom is older. The major problem that I had was the noise associated with downtown... Ambulances screaming by at all hours of the night and loud voices from next door were easily heard through the thin walls. I'm not sure I would choose this location again due to the cost in comparison with hotels away from the city.

« Great stay in downtown Minneapolis »

We stayed here for a trip for the Minnesota High School tournaments. The location was fantastic for ease in traveling by freeway and light rail. The staff were very accommodating as we were traveling with a pet and chose a room on the first level. The parking rate was very reasonable and convenient, very clean room and common areas, great room service and family friendly. Our room was quiet, had a fridge, bar area, fast internet, purified drinking water,...I really cold not have asked for more. It felt like a European hotel experience.

    « Love this hotel! »

We've stayed here twice and both times were very pleasant. The atmosphere is quaint. You don't feel like you're in the middle of the city. The restaurant has some great selections. Our rooms were clean and quiet. They are a pet-friendly hotel, so occasionally you can hear dogs barking when you are walking down the hall, but once in your room, you don't hear a thing. Parking is easy. They have a cute cookies ad milk time in the evening. I only wish it was earlier than 10pm for my kids. Small snack options in the lobby for a quick breakfast or snack. And I cannot say enough good things about the staff. They shuttled us back and forth to the hospital and were so polite to me and great with my kids. Pool area was clean, and my kids didn't mind that it was a touch cold in the pool area.

« Wonderful, fancy but not too $$ »

Great hotel. Was clean, staff very pleasant, great pool and hot tub area. Not too expensive either for such a nice pool, hot tub and sauna. Room was clean and staff was not intrusive. Allowed friends up in the room.

« FOR WHAT IT INTEND TO BE ... DOES VERY WELL »

This hotel met all expectations. I was visiting a student in St. Paul and wanted a comfortable, quiet and clean place to stay that was not expensive. This hotel did all of this. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable and quiet. The staff is very helpful. Breakfast at the restaurant was good ... surprisingly delicious Eggs Benedict.

    « Great Hotel »

The Normandy Inn & Suites is an excellent hotel. Very professional and friendly staff. Even though the elevator to our wing was out of order, we were offered assistance with our luggage up the stairs, and staff were very understanding and apologetic about the inconvenience.

« Great stay downtown Minneapolis »

Don't let the exterior fool you - inside the older looking facade is a hotel with every modern amenity and lovey rooms. The desk staff is very well versed in what downtown Minneapolis has to offer, and is more than happy to give directions, recommendations, or call you a cab. The clean rooms have been modernized and tastefully decorated. I am here on business and really appreciate the free Internet access and large work desk in the room. When I get done, i'm going back to the refreshing pool & spa area. The only downsides I have encountered is the typical "downtown noises" at night (sirens,, vehicles,, etc.) and the also typical "downtown neighborhood" issues, but nothing that would keep me from coming back. Great place to stay for a downtown getaway weekend, business, a ballgame, a concert, etc. Even freshly baked chocolate chip cookies in the lobby at 10 pm every night!

    4
« Good stay, good hotel »

Wonderful atmosphere, clean rooms, comfy lobby and even better professional restaurant. I would recommend if you are traveling to the Minneapolis area that you choose this particular Best Western Plus hotel. Very nice & cozy place to meet people as well!

« Great Service is still alive! »

From the moment we entered the door, the décor and atmosphere was amazing at this Hotel. Cleanliness abounded in every square inch of the place, from the lobby and hallways to the glass entry doors and elevator. Our room was immaculate and very welcoming. One of the best showers I've ever had in any hotel! The staff throughout our three day stay were helpful and pleasant, offering maps, directions and information to help us find our way around the city. I will be coming back to Minneapolis for future visits and I will only be staying the Best Western Plus Normandy Inn.

If you want a hotel in this area do NOT stay here They have no idea on customer service I think some training would enhance there people interaction skills especially Management As for the Manager I'm sure will comment on this however you did not help when we where there so please do not ask me to call you as it will fall on deaf ears once again

    1
« Do not stay here awful rude staff »

Sadly my brother is passing away at the hospital down the street from this awful hotel. I have never meet such unhelpful staff especially the Manager. The reception knew my situation and did nothing to help me and my friend make our stay bearable.all they did where native things far to many things to put on this site. We checked out today and have decided to yes stay at the hospital whom are amazing kind thoughtful humans. You can be sure I will take this to the top person at Best Western Hotels

« Good hotel, great staff, decent location, good value »

A bit dark and dowdy but the staff was super - everyone from cleaning staff to desk personnel was helpful and had a smile. Maybe this is a Minneapolis characteristic. The hotel is a five minute walk from the light rail stop at Government Plaza and another 10 minutes walk to downtown shops and restaurants. It is a couple of minutes from the skyway which can be difficult for newbies to navigate (so we usually stayed on the street). However, the few blocks around the hotel are barren. There is complimentary van service to a few places like the Guthrie Theatre but reserve in advance. There is a swimming pool, sauna, and fitness room. The pool was crowded with families that had rooms adjacent to it. The fitness room was almost inaccessible as the elevator was under repair. The restaurant and bar looked ok although we did not eat there and there was a jazz combo playing on the weekend. Milk and cookies at night in the lobby was a nice touch. Overall, a nice place and good value.

    5
« Great Hotel, Great service »

This hotel has the most friendly, courteous staff, always feel welcome when we stay. Rooms are updated and clean. Beds are comfortable. I love the value of this upscale hotel. The only downside is there are no microwaves in the rooms and you have to go to the basement to seek out the microwave. I still seek out this hotel every time we stay in the area

« Food and Not a Safe Area »

Was solicited for prostitution. Waiter lied about menu. Lamb dinner was raw and 75% fat. The refire was same lamb well done and charred. Sandwich was cold missing béchamel sauce after 3 phone calls the owners wife Bonnie called me to chastise me. I let her know kitchen staff watching superbowl not cooking she said none of my business & did not know her own menu. She is a disgrace to this business. I feel bad for anyone who has to talk to her. Was promised refund for food and it never happened. Soft towels were ok..

    « 1 night stay with friends »

This hotel was great! Easy to find, onsite parking (only $8), friendly staff, clean room, comfortable bed, and the shower had good pressure! Ice machine and filtered water down the hall; there was a pitcher & glasses in the room to use. We also enjoyed a meal at the restaurant. Loved it!

    « Winter stay »

I have stayed here many times before, this is the first time for a downstairs room and my last time. I will always check my room from now on. I have coils in my back from this old bed, it was shot! The comforter was just as old a nylon comforter that had no shape or form. Nice clean place, great resturant, nice pool are, milk and cookies at night but what a terrible bed, not to mention the noisy room next to us. Shold have called the desk requested a different room, All I want is a comfortable bed for a tired body!

Very nice hotel. As we pulled into the parking lot the hotel looked kind of run down, but even though it is an older hotel the inside looks well kept up. We arrived late in the evening and were treated to warm cookies and cold milk in the lobby!!! The beds were comfortable, price awesome for location, We would stay again

    « Very nice »

I liked the hotel because it was very clean. Nightly at 10pm, they make fresh cookies for the guest and provide ice cold milk. Nice way to fall asleep at night. The rooms have digital thermostats so you can set your own comfort. The TVs have HD capacity so that is very nice to watch.

    4
    « Will stay again »

Very nice hotel. Kind of bleh on the outside but nice over all; rooms were a bit bland but very high quality, they give you free cookies at night!!! Bed comfortable, price awesome for location, shower heads are terrible so dont plan on taking a relaxing shower but that's probably the point.... Again, for the location and price, probably unbeatable.

« Great option for downtown »

Staff was accommodating and professional. Rooms were clean and had everything you might need. The indoor pool, spa and sauna all have a nice atmosphere. We had poolside rooms next to friends with kids. It was the perfect staycation with plenty of room for the kids to play in our rooms and around the pool area where there were many seating options. I will stay here again.

    « Awkward Check In »

Check in was weird. Requested a room with a tub. They could have told us weeks ago that there are no tubs in King Suites. Manager was dismissive when I questioned why they didn't tell us there were no bathtubs when booking. Manager and three police were interrogating five feet from us a patron whose credit card limit was being loudly questioned. Sounded like he had reached his max and they were going to throw him and his girlfriend out. Awkward and embarrassing to be standing there and checking in while this was going on right beside us. King Suites are a bit on the small side. The lounge has incredibly good food and fantastic drinks. Went each night. Super friendly bar staff. They really stood out!

    « Awesome poolside room »

This was one of the best experiences I've had in a hotel. We had a poolside room which was awesome at night when we wanted to stay up later than our 3 year old son. He was in the room and we sat on the lounge chairs by the pool playing cards. We could see him watching TV the whole time and it was perfect. Couldn't have done that without the poolside area. The pool itself was great, got very deep. Nice hot tub and sauna. The atmosphere was excellent. Our room was very nice and modern and updated and clean and comfortable. We got 6 pillows on each bed! Great selection for TV channels. The front desk worker was AMAZING and made my stay so happy! My sister was having her wedding reception so we needed a taxi ride downtown. Instead of making us get a taxi, they gave us a free shuttle in their bus. They have cookies and milk at 10pm every night, it was so sweet and fun! I loved every second of staying here and will definitely stay again!

    « Christmas Stay »

I stayed at the Normandy Inn & Suites for 5 nights over Christmas. We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room was very clean, the bed was very comfortable. there was a sitting area with lounge chair, sofa, and wet bar! I had breakfast and lunch in the Normandy Kitchen times. The food and service was superb. Very creative menu in my opinion. They also serve a whole bean freshly ground coffee which was excellent! They have a great indoor pool and hot tub with very comfortable lounge chairs to relax. We will return!

« Nice hotel with reasonable rate. »

The price is right for downtown Minneapolis. The room sizes are nice. Friendly and helpful front desk. What a surprise of cookies and milk at midnight. Secure parking lot. Comfortable beds. No fan in the bathroom was the only bummer. They have their own restaurant but we did not go there.

    « Interesting Experience »

Initially I had my concerns from seeing the outside of the hotel, but the lobby seemed nice and the staff were helpful enough. However, they seemed to have a hard time keeping the people from the street who were not guests under control and out of the hotel. My group had been rudely been interrupted by people who weren't guests who had obviously had way too much to drink. The hotel rooms were dreary and fairly unpleasant.

    4
« Great service for a very reasonable price »

This hotel is staffed by really nice people who make every effort. It has a very nice pool and working sauna. The rooms are clean and large, and very reasonable. I love the cookies at 10pm. They even had a free buffet for Christmas morning.

« Great hotel downtown St. Paul »

Absolutely loved this hotel. Great location downtown easy walking to other downtown attractions. Parking was only $8 and could come and go which is hard to find downtown for that price. Rooms were great, staff was very friendly. Got a suite that had a separate living area. This was perfect since we had other family staying here over the weekend and could entertain everyone in our room. Will definitely stay again!!

    « A good place to stay »

A centrally located Inn which gives easy access to Minneapolis-St Paul. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. views of parking lots, which is to be expected in an inner city Inn. Plenty of parking, for which you pay. Breakfast was not included in the price of accommodation, but was excellent.

This hotel had exceptional staff, cleans rooms, good food, easy & reasonable parking. I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed!

« Hotel with lots of character »

Stayed at the Normandy Inn for two nights, it has plenty of character and is in a great location with easy self parking for a small daily fee. The desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful, providing us with a map and printed instructions on how to use local transport to get to the Xcel Energy Center for a hockey game. Our room was spacious, bed and pillows were comfortable but it was noisy at times due to the room being adjacent to the pool atrium area so if we were to stay there again I would request a room away from the pool if possible. We ate delicious breakfast for a reasonable cost at the Normandy Kitchen and the late evening complimentary milk & delicious cookies were certainly something to look forward to.

    « Living History -- »

Memories of King Flour in his Day, pour through the beamed hallways, of this historic hotel. When Minneapolis was really the Mill City -- the Normandy provided a home, away from home, for sojourners from the Golden West. Grain barons of vast domains, in Western Minnesota, and Dakotas might rest -- before sifting through their futures -- at the Minneapolis Flour Exchange. And here also, representatives of General Mills, Cargill, and Pillsbury, might withdraw, in the quiet dignity of the Normandy Room, to consummate business, over cocktails and a hearty dinner. Minneapolis has changed over the decades, and glass towers, have arisen -- perhaps looking down, coldly -- at this remnant of comfort, and welcoming warmth. But the Normandy might well respond, good taste has taken a holiday. But the Normandy has endured -- perhaps because it is the perfect return for the holidays. The subtle upgrades of this hotel, have only enhanced its vintage appeal, to the discerning traveler. The rooms are very cozy, and very clean -- and cheerfulness of the staff, and bright display of holiday decorations, and the general feeling of "Minnesota Nice" hold fast in this refuge of civility. Perhaps, because the ownership of the hotel, has continued in a family for generations, and retains an active interest, The Normandy has maintained its proud tradition...A secure and friendly inn -- in the shadow of the stark inner city.

    « Wonderful »

I love the Normandy Inn and Suites. It is a clean, comfortable hotel with an extremely friendly staff. It's become the only place I'll stay when I come to Minneapolis. It's within walking distance from Target Field. The cost is reasonable for a downtown place. I'm very picky. My husband calls me a hotel "princess" since I can't handle dirty hotels. If you're a person that generally is uncomfortable in hotels, you will be very happy here. So clean!

nice clean motel. close to down town activities. have stayed in Minneapolis for years and tried this motel for the first time. Booked another leisure trip at the Normandy in January already. The only semi negative is that it would be nice if they had a hot complementary breakfast availible

    « Fine old hotel »

We've been coming here since the 1960's, during which time it has been progressively updated. It has always been a pleasant stay. Among the nice amenities are free shuttle service to downtown theaters and great chocolate chip cookies served with milk in the lounge, also free, each evening at 10 p.m. The restaurant does a good job. It has its own parking lot (for a parking fee). The only drawback is that breakfast is not free, but that seems to be standard in higher-echelon hotels around here..

    5
« Great hotel with a lot of history »

We enjoyed our stay at the Normandy Inn. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We especially liked the filtered hot and cold water which eliminates the need for bottled water. There was also a recycling bin in the room which is a nice addition that many hotels do not have. The room had a mini fridge and a safe. The restaurant food was a bit pricey, and small portions, but it was freshly made and really good. The lobby had a nice fireplace and sofas to relax in at the end of the day. They also serve milk and chocolate chip cookies in the lobby every night. We will definitely stay in this hotel again when we are in Minneapolis.

« Check in policy needs changing »

Because of plane flight delays I was not able to meet my wife on time at this location. She tried to check in on our reservation but because her overseas credit card did not work, they would not accept cash for a deposit until I got there. Luckly, our stateside credit card worked. But staff just said no to cash and if there was not other payment then she would have to wait over 10 hours for me to get there. This is foolish because overseas hotels accept cash.

« A Most Excellent Stay, But No Continental Breakfast »

Since we are on a fixed income, a continental breakfast is essential to any motel stay -- saves a lot of money (and my wife was told that there *is* a continental breakfast here)! Other than that, our stay could not have been more pleasant! Great bed, cleanliness, staff, central location -- it's all here! The ONLY reason I downgraded my review at all was because of the lack of continental breakfast. If this is not a problem for you, then ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY STAY HERE! :-)

    « Amazing upgrade »

We found this motel easily, off 694. Well laid out and we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves upgraded to the President's Suite! Huge rooms, jacuzzi in the bedroom! A very nice place which feels slightly outdated. It used to be an AmericInn, so the rooms are well insulated and quiet. A great spot north of Minneapolis.

We have stayed at this motel before and enjoyed it immensely. It is quite old, but that is its charm. It is right in the center of the city, so getting anywhere is very easy. The rooms have been fully updated and are extremely comfortable. The bed was the most comfortable one I have ever experienced.

« Helpful Staff, Noisy Guest Rooms »

Overall, we had a satisfactory stay at this hotel. We were there for a week and the staff were very helpful and accommodating to our needs. The room was comfortable and the shared spaces in the lobby and pool area were well kept and comfortable. Like many other hotels though we could hear everything going on in the adjacent rooms, often waking us up or keeping us up until the middle of the night. I would highly recommend the hotel kitchen which was reasonably priced for the high quality of the food and had a variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I ate at there almost every day of our stay and I enjoyed everything I ordered. The skyways close early near the hotel so having a kitchen in the hotel is very convenient. The hotel advertises being close to the skyway, but if it is raining or windy, you still need to have all your bad weather gear on to get to it.

    « Best Western Normandy »

The hotel was beautiful. The rooms were very nice and the pool area was clean and didn't smell of chlorine like some hotel pools. The first night we were in a room near the elevators and the noise from the elevator equipment is very loud and kept us up. We complained the next morning and they graciously moved us to a different room which solved that problem. The other problem was the quality of the breakfast in their restaurant. The food was cold when it came to the table and it was quite pricey. We went elsewhere for food after that. The hotel is located downtown and in easy walking of the convention center and other downtown amenities which is the main reason we chose that hotel.

    5
    « Well-priced for a downtown hotel »

We've stayed downtown in Minneapolis many times over the years, but the prices have risen above our comfort level recently. this time we booked at the Best Western Normandy and were very pleased with the experience. We had a nice room with a fireplace in the older part of the hotel. We ate at the restaurant on the ground floor. The staff was friendly and helpful. One evening we took a boat ride on the Mississippi, and when the taxi company couldn't seem to find us afterwards the hotel sent their shuttle tp pick us up. That was above and beyond expectations. We'll stay at the Best Western Normandy as long as it's around!

Having been on the rd for a few nights, checking in at the Normandy was a welcome site! The hotel is very well kept! The room - is spacious, clean, super comfy! With a WONDERFUL king bed. The bar and restaurant - makes delicious home cooked food, paired with the best house red, I have had! The indoor pool looks great, however I didn't use it as time didn't allow. The staff are very professional, smart and welcoming! If you have the pleasure of meeting Bonnie in the restaurant, you will be in the very best of hands! I would not hesitate to highly recommend the Normandy, for business or pleasure. I will be staying again.

Big rooms, nice beds, very friendly staff. All in all highly recommended.

Driving up, I didn't believe my eyes! It was amazing! So beautiful inside and out, and with a wonderful service team. The architecture is worth the stay even if you don't have anything going on! 5 stars

    « Another nice visit »

Normandy Inn is my go to hotel when visiting the cities. Close and convenient to downtown area, clean, comfortable rooms, with high quality pillows (very important), on site bar and restaurant. I just love this place and always enjoy my stays here. Will be back next time I'm in the cities!

« Excellent Hotel for an Affordable Price »

I brought students to attend the NCTM Regional Conference on 11/11-11/13/15. I booked at Normandy early in July at an affordable rate. We were all impressed with the quality of the service and amenities that were provided us during our 3-night stay. Milk and cookies at 10:00 p.m.? Shuttle to major event centers? What a great deal!

« Great hotel but avoid lazy service at restaurant »

This hotel is delightfully decorated and very pleasant. I enjoyed the room and the front desk service was great. My only negative was apathetic service at the restaurant in trying to get seated for breakfast. We ended up walking out because they were so bad at making it a pleasant experience.

    « Walking distance »

Hotel was walking distance to my meetings at City Hall. Lobby is older, however, the sleeping rooms are modern. Very clean. And extra attention to detail with the filter water. No cookies at checkin, and waiting until 10pm for milk and cookies was not appealing to me.

    « Great Value »

While sort of funny looking on the outside, this hotel was awesome on the inside, the beds were super comfortable and the shower was better than home, parking was really simple and good value especially compared to other places near by, the location is also great. We went to a concert at First Avenue and could easily walk to all the things nearby

    « Buisness stay »

I loved it! Great place to stay! Restaurant and bar was great. warm cookies and milk before bed was the best. I love coming here and can't wait to come back. Buisness trip or pleasure i always love coming here!

« Great Location, Friendly Staff »

The location is very convenient for downtown Minneapolis. Parking is inexpensive and the hotel is clean and well taken care of. All staff were very friendly and good at their jobs. I have stayed at this hotel several times and will continue to do so.

« A warm, but ageing hotel in a very convenient location »

From the outside, it looks like a fortress, but it is warmed by the excellent staff and the milk and cookies at 10 p.m. each night. A great bar with a generous pour reminded me of another continent and time. My room was large with a mini-kitchen, tired furniture, but a crisp bed and linens. It is a value hotel amoungst so very expensive downtown hotels. The W and Manny's steak house are just down the street.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

I have never stayed at a Best Western property and was pleasantly surprised. The hotel is dated, but well maintained. The restaurant and overall service was great. Location was also very good; a short walk to the office.

    « Quality of accommodation. »

It has ameneties such as kitchenette, microwave, fridge, and seating room. But far from convention center if your business is in the convention center. Too much walking and buses are late. There is no breakfast buffet but there is flavored drinking water in the lobby. They have free internet and WIFI -free computers just in case it is needed. No reasonable restaurants closed by for a quick meal.

« Great Hotel, Fantastic Bar, Friendly Staff »

I have stayed at many of the finest hotels in downtown Minneapolis but I keep coming back to the Normandy Inn and Suites. The rooms are large, clean, comfortable and newly refurbished. The bar is one of the best in Minneapolis. Dennis (the bartender) is a fantastic mixologist and a great guy. Their are always a lot of friendly hotel guests in the bar as well. The hotel staff are equally as nice. This is just a great place that has it's own unique and lively atmosphere.

This hotel was very clean, comfortable and in an excellent location in proximity to our business. We always like to stay in this hotel when we are in town. Quaint hotel with lots of character however, not lacking in amenities.

« Great location, comfortable stay »

I enjoyed my stay at the BW Normandy Inn & Suites. The pluses were the comfortable bed, clean room and hotel. The room had a small fridge, coffeemaker, and safe. I didn't get to use the pool/jacuzzi, but it looked clean and well-kept. I enjoyed the bread pudding at breakfast immensely! Parking was plentiful for a daily charge. While I enjoyed the warm cookie and milk in the lobby at 10PM sharp, the "presentation" was a bit uncomfortable one evening (I didn't go back the second night). The guests were made to line up in the lobby and the woman distributing the cookies had a mildly annoyed demeanor about her. I'm sure there are times when folks ask for seconds, or rush up to get the cookies, but at other hotels that offer cookies, they're either offered singly at check in or some other more pleasant way. Other than that, all the staff were helpful, pleasant and professional. Even the cookie lady was OK, just not "warm" like the cookies.

    « Good experience »

Clean, quiet and friendly. Restaurant service was quick, food excellent and the cost reasonable. Room was spacious, comfortable and high end. Near the Minneapolis Convention Center, which is were I spent the weekend attending the ECKANKAR, World wide Seminar, 2015.

    « Good hotel »

The Best Western Normandy Inn is a good hotel in general, comfortable rooms, well located and it's no noisy. It has an acceptable sauna service and small pool. For a short business visit or to a convention is ok.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

It has been several years since I have stayed in a Best Western hotel, and I was pleasantly surprised with the Best Western Normandy in Minneapolis. This is a Best Western Plus, which I have never used before, and it made a difference. I was in the city for a seminar. The price of the room was affordable. The room was very clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the décor was modern and lovely. While the hotel is not close to the convention center, there is a shuttle available. The restaurant was very good, and items were priced fairly, compared with other city restaurants. I definitely recommend the Best Western Normandy.

    « Our football hotel! »

Simply can't beat this hotel for football games. Great location. Lots of resturants , shops, bars etc within walking distance. Wonderful service. Resturant and bar on site very good. On site parking downtown $8.00 per night. We will be back. Keep up the good work!

We stayed at the Normandy for Medical Appointment in downtown Minneapolis. Very convenient for downtown stays.. Warm cookies and mild 10 PM every evening. Be aware downtown Mpls can be a bit noisy at night, sirens etc. :)

    « Conference Stay »

I was there for a few days while attending a conference. The rooms were very clean and the staff is great. The food at the restaurant as well as the room service were outstanding. If I come back I'll be staying here again.

« Back again because we love it »

This might not be the perfect hotel for everyone but we love it. The location is great for us but we don't mind walking a few blocks to reach the light rail. We have stayed in the older portion but this trip we were in the new building. We liked them both very much. Note, the parking is around the block on the back side and you can park and check in. We found that easier than using the limited, short term loading zone by the front door. My only disappointment was learning the shuttle was only available to very limited uses. That won't keep us from returning though.

    « Best Western »

A lovely hotel - great value given its central location close to the convention center. It's only a 5-block walk from the center, but they also kindly provide a hotel shuttle service there too. I didn't use the restaurant, but they did offer a nice nightly "cookies & milk" session!

« Excellent Accommodations in Minneaplois »

Had a great stay at the Best Western Normandy Inn & Suites, the staff was very courteous, professional, and extremely attentive. Staff gave great advise on sites in area and actually made sure we had transportation available when needed. This is truly a guest oriented Hotel.

    « Very nice rooms »

Room was nice but didn't appreciate a knock from house keeping at 8am. Otherwise it was a easy check in & a very nice & clean room. Would recommend this hotel to others to stay in. It was nice they had a restaurant available if I needed.

Awesome hotel and great experience. The location of the hotel allows you walk around the downtown and business centers. Also you can relax in the whirlpool and sauna. Good service and very cozy lobby.

« Nice big room and hotel close to eateries »

We had a lovely room with a view to some churches. Beds were comfortable and there was a desk and chairs. Free wifi. Close to main street and Target Field for baseball. Provided cookies and milk for free in the evening. Downside was having only two washing machines and dryers as there seemed to be heaps of guests from tour coaches.

    « No complaints »

We thought it was kind of funny to find a Tudor themed hotel in downtown Minneapolis (and we enjoyed the display of memorabilia from the hotel through the years) but we like a hotel with some character. We felt safe in the hotel and had no trouble parking our car in the lot out back. We felt that the cost of parking here was extremely reasonable, and that the cost of the hotel compared favorably with others in the area as well. We enjoyed milk and cookies at 10 PM one night of our stay and thought this was a cute nightly tradition (clearly enjoyed by the guests). Beds were comfortable and the room was very dark when we put the shades down, much appreciated in a downtown hotel. The room was clean. Wifi seemed a little wonky but that could have been my laptop. The pool was refreshing and a welcome break. It was easy to walk around downtown from here, and also to walk to public transit. I did notice that the lobby area did have an aroma which I would not call musty (nor does it resemble the smell of an "old folks home"- and I should know, having worked in one!) but which I did not expect from an updated hotel. We found our room did smell like a new, clean hotel room, and we were not put off by the aroma in the lobby. I think we'll stay here again. It's a great location and great service, and at the right price.

    « Room convenience »

Hotel is clean and comfortable. The only problem is no microwave oven in rooms. You have to leave your room, go to lower level laundry room to heat food, by the time you get back to your room food is cold.

    « good location »

Although the hotel was in a great location for our trip to see a MN Twins baseball game. The hotel was nothing special for the price of the rooms. It was clean, updated, and friendly, just average otherwise. There were several good restaurants nearby, within walking distance.

« Best Western Normandy Inn, Minneapolis »

I lived in Minneapolis for 25 years, so I'm pretty familiar with its offerings. Now, I return a few times a year on business, but must stay within certain budgetary constraints. I LOVE this funky little inn. Although it's a Best Western, it's retained unique character from its years as The Normandy Inn~~ faux Tudor exterior, long dark wood corridors, bits and pieces of decorating referencing Merrie Auld Englande and Gaul~~all of which make it quirky, charming, and far beyond generic. The restaurant is known among d/t workers as a great place for lunch, drinks, and dinners--chef-driven menu at moderate prices, craft beers, boutique wines, classic cocktails, dark clubby interior. The room is generously sized with many of the details that are associated with a more expensive hotel: Large LG television with premium cable, fridge, safe, piles of extra towels, real glasses and corkscrew accompanying the water pitcher and ice bucket, ice and filtered water dispenser in the hall, individually wrapped facial towelettes, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, charger outlets for your smart devices, free wi-fi. Forgo a more expensive hotel and stay here. For the price and location, it is very very good. Finally, the staff is helpful, kind, and warm. (*I witnessed a front desk staff person take a break from assisting me to help a man who came in from the street in need of an ambulance. The staff person was caring and calm throughout.) The free shuttle will take you all over downtown.

    « Great Value »

My husband and our two elementary aged boys stayed here for a mini-vacation for 3 nights in August. We also had our small dog with us. We were looking for a hotel with plenty of room so we weren't always in each others' space for the 3 days. It was also important to us that we were within walking distance to the main downtown shops, Target Center, Nicolette Mall, and restaurants. We also wanted a kitchen or kitchenette and a place that would allow us to bring our small dog as he can't handle being boarded (nerves). This place met all of our requirements and then some. If you are looking for hip and modern, this isn't it. This place has a Tudor, village type of character and we were all about it. The hotel is clean and the pool area was very nice; the boys really enjoyed that. We had a two double bed suite with kitchen and fireplace which provided lots of space and the ability to bring back food to prepare in our room. The double beds are a bit cramped with two people per bed, but there was a sofa sleeper that was adequate. The milk and cookies was a highlight for the kids each night, so we appreciated that. We ate at the adjoining restaurant for lunch and had some really good soup and sandwiches; I wanted to sneak out for a drink at the bar, but the opportunity didn't present itself. It had a warm pub-feeling to it though. The hotel has their own ground level parking lot on the cheap; only $8/day! For those of you not as familiar with the downtown MSP area, this is extremely convenient and CHEAP! I saw other complaints about the parking cost and assume those reviewers just aren't familiar with the area. Most others have approx. $30/day self parking that you have to search for and then you end up having a longer than expected hike to your actual hotel. Probably the best part for all of us was that not only were we staying in a very comfortable hotel, but we were able to bring our dog with us and at an extremely reasonable rate. There weren't any large holds on our CC (there is a waiver to sign) and I think it was only $10/day. We were actually about to book a different hotel when we found out the non-refundable pet deposits - yikes! I'm so glad we went with this hotel instead! We've stayed in about 12 different downtown hotels and this one was a unanimous favorite! I think this is a great option for those that need to travel with their pet(s) that are well trained and quiet. Also, the best downtown MSP hotel we've found overall for value, comfort and convenience for family travel. We will be back!

« Quant, classy hotel & lovely restaurant »

I was very impressed from the moment of check with for my short stay at this hotel, they have people ready to direct you to your room and bags were bought up quickly. There is a indoor heated pool, laundry facilities and a small gym - quite a functional one when you're on holidays. The restaurant was really lovely, service was amazing and the food was really good. The hotel is centrally location and convenient walking distance from mostly everything. I would definitely stay here again if I revisited Minneapolis

« Great value and friendly staff »

This hotel was really nice and had a really friendly staff. They were all extremely nice and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was also very good. I didn't get a chance to use it, but I wanted to use the sauna and the hot tub! I also thought it was cute that they had milk and cookies every night in the lobby at 10pm. The location downtown was good as it was easy to walk to many places. The bed was really comfortable and the room was really nice. I was happy with the hotel!

« Awesome hotel, great price »

This hotel was very accommodating. I decided to extend my stay. It has an indoor pool, friendly staff, and is in a great area downtown. It looks dated on the outside, but inside it is very nice. I had a king size one bedroom which was much larger than I am used to (from san francisco). It had a flat screen TV and with cable. The wireless internet was also around 35 meg a second, which is very fast for hotel internet. I highly recommend this hotel.
