« They have the park and fly thing down pat »

Love this place! We fly out of SFO and leave our car with the folks at El Rancho. On our return, when we are totally jetlagged and loopy (11 flight from Johannesburg to London, 8 hour layover, 10 hour flight to SFO) it is HEAVEN to be picked up by the shuttle and delivered STRAIGHT to our room. Our car is waiting in the spot right outside our door. The shuttle driver hands you the keys to your car and the key to your room. No dealing with front desk, no having to think or talk. HEAVEN. Love this place. The breakfast is the best anywhere for a fast serve-yourself buffet. AND the breakfast starts at 4:30 so when the jetlag has you up early, the coffee and muffins and quiche thing are ready to go. They have everything so well organized and the whole operation is a well oiled machine. HIGHLY recommend.

« Thanksgiviing On The Peninsula »

When we arrived we were booked into an upstairs room, my husband said that we had trouble with stairs and any chance of something down. The lady at the front desk immediately checked and upgraded us to a large room downstairs with no problem. El Rancho Inn employees have always been extremely helpful and courteous. We don't expect to stay anywhere else when we come to the area.

    « Park & Fly »

This was my first trip using your park & fly option. It was very helpful and the staff & drivers were quite friendly and efficient.. I would recommend it with the utmost vigor. I am planning another trip in February and will most deffinately be using your facility again.

« Hey you San Franisco jetsetters. »

nwind Planning a trip out of San Francisco? If you know the area and its inherent traffic problems, you know that you must plan ahead to be at the airport on time. Why not take the tension out of your trip. Check in at El Rancho the afternoon before you fly away. Park your car in front of your room and head to the Terrace Cafe located on the hotel grounds. Go to the lounge to relax. Great place to unwind over a glass of fine wine and a burger or a plate of Calamari. If you are lucky, the multi-tasking, multi-talented Nani will will cater to your relaxing needs. Nani commands and controls the lounge. She makes you feel that you must come back even if you are not going on a fantastic trip to some exotic place. Oh, by the way, did I mention that El Rancho has a long term parking service including service from the hotel to the airport and from the airport to your car when you return.

« OK hotel ruined by negligent housekeeping »

Stayed the night before taking the flight out of SFO. I checked in very late, and found that the room was full of trash that were not removed. Trash cans were full, and there was a bag of takeout trash on the floor. The beds were made and the towels and the toiletry were all there so the room was prepared. But someone literally forgot to take out the trash. Good thing I only needed to sleep there. Needless to say I decided not to leave a tip.

« Good stay, noisy Caltrain »

Stayed here for 10 days on a work trip recently... Overall, a great hotel, what you expect when booking a Best Western... My room was large and clean, with a comfy bed & both firm & soft pillows. Flat screen tv with decent variety of channels & good wifi. The staff was amazing, very friendly & professional. The onsite restaurant and bar is decent. Breakfast, lunch & dinner plus the bar has Mon-Fri happy hour. They have a small free breakfast, mostly danish, and a few fruit. They also have a shuttle that seems to run all day long to the airport. However, it is also very close to the Caltrain tracks! And, it does run at night.. To be specific, about 1:15am, 3:15am, 5:15am... You get my point. And, the Caltrain seems to live blasting its horns as loud as they can at these hours. Just a FYI

« Excellent Stay with Free Airport Shuttle »

Very nice hotel within close proximity to San Francisco airport. Room was big and clean with all necessary amenities for us. Some restaurants and bars walkable distance away for the one night we stayed before our flight. Free airport shuttle is very convenient and even picked us up from outside of our room. Would recommend.

« Best Park N' Fly for SFO »

We have used the Best Western El Rancho Inn for our vacation Park N' Fly needs for over 25+ years ... and it is one of the best programs in the area for SFO. This is an older hotel, however, it has been very well maintained and managed so it is a pleasant stay. The airport shuttle runs 24 hours a day and 14 days parking is included in the price.

    4
    « Very convenient »

Being able to leave my car at the hotel and be shuttled to and from the airport is a real plus. The staff that handles the automobile storage and airport shuttle do a great job. I would also like to commend our waiter, Edwin, at the restaurant. Very friendly and excellent service.

« Great hotel when flying out of SFO »

This is a great hotel when you are flying out of San Francisco. It is close to the airport, clean, quiet, and has a nice restaurant/lounge on site. They have early morning continental breakfast for those with early flights. They pick you up at your room and drop you at your car when they pick you up on your return. I have been staying here for over 30 years and have never had a bad experience.

« Clean, pretty, comfortable, too much air freshener »

Overall, I'm glad I chose the El Rancho Inn. It's clean and pretty (pink stucco buildings, palm trees, a fountain- so nice to wake up to in the morning!). It is a motel, which I didn't really know before I made the reservation, but I was on the second floor and I felt safe- there's a deadbolt that they suggest using, and even though I was traveling alone, I didn't have any issues. The 24-hour shuttle service was really convenient. I used it coming from the airport, and again the next morning so that I could catch the BART at the airport. The shuttle was punctual and took less than 20 minutes. The staff were friendly, especially the Thursday morning staff. I didn't expect that much warm friendliness at 7am, and it was a welcome surprise, especially to a stressed-out college student trying to figure out travel plans. It wasn't that quiet- you can hear the airplanes taking off, which was kind of cool, but the train was the noisiest. I thought it would be hard to fall asleep with all that noise, but I slept pretty well. Maybe I'm just a sound sleeper. My only major complaint is the air freshener. The room positively reeked of the smell, and unfortunately now my backpack and my clothes all have the same cloyingly sweet smell stuck to them. I'm glad the room was clean, but I'd prefer not to have to worry about my clothes smelling like motel for the next few weeks (hopefully the smell will come out in the wash!).

    3
    « Very average »

An ok location for a stop near the SFO airport. Although room is out dated and there are spots on the wall facilities are clean. Airco is noisy and creates chilly wind even if the bed is on the other side of the room. Quick breakfast is indeed quick and ok. Still there must be better alternatives.

    « Great upgrade »

I stayed for a park and fly. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. I am a member of the Best Western Rewards program. I was upgraded from a standard queen room to a 1 bedroom suite for free. The room was very clean, comfortable. I uses to stay here a long time ago until I found a park and fly hotel. It use to be less expensive about 6 years ago. That hotel has raised it's price over the years to be the same price as the El Rancho. I came back because the El Rancho is a much nice hotel.

« Overnight to fly out »

El Rancho Best Western is a great place to stay when you have to fly out early the next morning. They have a restaurant for dinner which is very convenient. They used to have free corkage in the Restaurant, but no longer.

    3
    « Had a good deal on Booking.com »

Good deal made my stay OK. It is your average BW, but very large though. Situated right next to SF airport and a railway it is quite noisy - still I slept well. For some reason the trains have to sound their horns obsessively when passing (because of overpass) Get a room near the reception if you can.

    4
« Good stay close to airport. »

Friendly staff at the reception. We were quite early there, before noon and they gave us our room that early. Really great. The room and the bath were super clean. The water pressure in the shower was only sufficient. The complimentary breakfast is the kind you often have in the states and was good. I would just preference to generate less garbage because everything was packed. Just one note: There is a lot of noise from the airport and the railways but it seems to cease in the night ... i had a good sleep during the night. And well, when you book close to the airport you have to expect to hear the airport.

« Great sleep but health code violation in cafe »

This is our go-to place whenever we have an early morning flight out of SFO. We will continue to stay at the El Rancho for our future flights; however, we implore the management to train their early morning restaurant staff about health codes. We hope that yesterday's experience at the Terrace Cafe was an anomaly. The hotel offers a "Departure Snack" from 4:30 to 7:30 AM for guests who depart before the full breakfast service begins at 7:30 am. All the "snacks" (egg puffs, pastries, fruit), coffee/hot water, juices, and cereals, are arrayed on a single counter along with paper plates, plastic utensils, paper cups and napkins. Stacks of paper coffee cups were placed between the trays of snacks and the coffee urn. While reaching for a couple of paper coffee cups, my husband accidentally toppled a stack of paper cups on to the floor where people stand to fill their plates and beverages. I bent over to pick up the cups while my husband got two new cups to fill with coffee. After picking up the cups off the floor, I handed the stack over to the two young women behind the counter and was told to place them back on the counter! They refused to take them and they did not direct me to discard them in the garbage can. They repeated that I should leave them stacked on the counter. They made no attempt to remove and discard the cups while people continued to come into the cafe. I later found a garbage can, went to the counter to retrieve the cups that had fallen on the ground and placed them in the waste can. We reported this incident to the manager on duty when we checked out with the assurance she would report the incident to the General Manager. We know from previous stays that the El Rancho is a good place to stay; we hope the next time we stay there, the early morning cafe staff will be better informed about health and sanitation codes.

    « Would stay again »

We picked this Best Western for its proximity to SFO. Used the free shuttle from International departures after dropping the rental car off in the evening and again in the morning to catch our International flight. Room was comfortable with 2 chairs and a table. Queen bed was comfortable. No USB charge ports in room but the TV had a USB port which worked. May seem pricey but no accommodation in SF is cheap.

« Terrific for park and fly »

We have stayed here 3 times where we spent the night with transportation to the airport and several nights of parking and the rooms are nice, transportation to and from the airport nice and efficient, a good restaurant, and amazingly have your car ready for you when transported back from the airport

« Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn should be called "Worst" Western. »

Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn, 1100 El Camino Real, Millbrae, CA 94030, is one of the worst places to stay in the world. I stayed at this Best Western from May 30, 2015 to June 01, 2015 preparing for a few very important appointments in the Bay Area. I called more than a few times from my room to the front desk to get some servicing, but no one followed up. So, I walked all the way to the front desk to seek some help. But, none of the staff was willing to help. When I asked for the real manager on duty, they continued to ignore me and just walked away. Today is October 29, 2016, and I still have not heard back from their management about my complaints of their worst motel staff. I have traveled to many coldest, darkest corners on earth to do some missionary ? the parts of the world where they kill you only because you are a Christian, but I never received such cold, dark ?motel? services there as I have at this Best Western. Their new name should be Worst Western. I could go on for a long time to specifically explain why I think this Best Western is one of the worst places to stay. But, I will just say . . . Worst Western. -- by Changyon Pak (?Steven? « Great stay great staff »

Service at check in tonight was 5 star, very welcoming and professional in every way. Cannot say enough about the service at check in and wish I could remember the gentleman's name as he was phenomenal. Second check in person (woman) was so welcoming also. Room is immaculate, clean and feels fresh. Love the old tile in the bathroom and how the property made best use of the smallish space. Will definitely stay again and highly recommend for service and rooms.

« Good choice near SFO »

Delightful to stay in a 60-year old hotel that has had this much TLC. Currently in its 4th generation of family ownership. Rooms are SPOTLESS and attractively furnished. Airport shuttle service works well. On-site restaurant is good. Yes, the bathrooms are small - but this is a great choice for something near SFO.

    5
    « Best Park&Fly at SFO »

We live 3 hours away from SFO. This is the 3rd time we have done the Park&Fly for pleasure trips. The hotel is clean, very nicely furnished, helpful staff. I am especially impressed by the COLOR towels... This is the only place I have ever seen other than white towels and it says quality for me! Shuttle service to and from SFO is wonderful. Hotel access is easy.

« Favorite for SFO trips »

We have stayed at El Rancho many times over the last 25 years especially when we are traveling from San Francisco Airport. The facilities are very nice and all updated and the grounds are beautiful. The park/fly system is very efficient and the best of many we have used at various airports.

« Amazing , first class hotel in the San Francisco Bay Area »

We had a family reunion Sunday October 9th. Some family members wanted to stay over to extend our visit. We chose the Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn, a Bay Area landmark. We were greeted by a very happy and welcoming front desk associate. Our room was amazing .. 2 full bedrooms! One with two queen size beds and huge plasma tv, second room down the hall, totally private with its own queen bed and tv. Full size kitchen complete with dishes, cutlery, coffee maker and out of this world coffee!! Our kids enjoyed the 9 feet cool, clean and fresh pool. After a great night's sleep the amazing beds, we thoroughly enjoyed our continental of fresh warm muffins, that awesome coffee, bagels, toast and juice for the kids. Kudos to Vicki Mitchell and the associates at the front desk and the kind welcoming staff at the continental breakfast who cleared tables and made every guest feel like family visiting. We will definitely plan a visit to this Bay Area landmark!

« Great stay and service »

We use the Park and Fly and they really have their act together. Very professional. We love the food and staff in the restaurant and it is convenient to/from the airport. We come early and go to the movies 10 minutes down the road to make it a perfect fun day prior to our leaving the next morning.

    « Great airport hotel »

I like the Spanish influence on the building design. The inn is a few miles from SFO, and the airport shuttle is reliable. At the airport we didn't have to wait long before the shuttle showed up. The inn is set up as several different buildings with the entrance to each room in an outdoor corridor. Parking is plentiful and free! I really liked the location of this airport hotel. It was about a mile walk to Millbrae BART station. Millbrae is a cheaper arrival/departure station than the SFO BART station, so you can save extra money with the public transportation. I also like that there are several stores and restaurants within easy walking distance. The room was clean and cozy. The bathroom could use some updating, but for a one night stay, it wasn't a big deal. There was a bit of a step into the bathroom and also one going into the shower. Someone with physical limitations would need to be cautious. Wifi was hit or miss (?more miss than hit). There is a gym too, but I didn't partake this time. The inn does offer a "departure snack" of breakfast items in the AM.I would stay here again as long as the price stayed reasonable.

    « Back to the 50's »

Stayed at this motel after landing at SFO. The place was very clean and had the original 50's pink tile bathrooms almost exactly like the house I grew up in only they were still shiny and spotless after all these years. The basic point of the place is they are near the airport and they have service down to a science to get you back and forth. Staff was very helpful. The free breakfast is actually called a departure snack and adequate and the snack lady was very attentive. Millbrae is a typical suburban area. Food, shops, and the train station are walkable from the motel. We actually changed our plans and stayed there again after a short trip to Northern Cal and went in to San francisco on the BART train.

« Safe, convenient and clean »

This is our place to stay when in the San Francisco bay area. We come here two to four times a year for pleasure and always find this Inn very comfortable, clean and safe. Nice location, close to shops and restaurants.

« Stay, park n fly in SF »

Great place to stay before flying out of SFO. They are very organized about the whole process of leaving your car there while on your trip. Rooms are clean and spacious. The bar/lounge appeared to be very short staffed and my food order wasn't right. The bartender tried her best to make up for the kitchens errors. I will stay here again for sure when flying out of SFO

    5
    « Great pre/post travel stop »

Well maintained property with 24 hr. shuttle to/from SFO. Good staff and nice rooms. Restaurant on property serves tasty food and the bar provides selections when the restaurant is closed. We've been staying here for several years without a problem. They also have 14 days free car storage.

    3
« Convenient hotel near SFO »

We stayed at this Best Western the night we arrived at SFO. It was convenient, though it was on a fairly busy strip. There were several hotels that were a little closer to the airport. The staff we met were very friendly. The breakfast was fine and free!

    5
« Vacation feel when business trip »

The environment makes me feel like stay at a resort in Mexico. Staff are friendly . Very convenient location. 8 mins drive to Airport. The best thing is the breakfast start at 4:30 am. Will go back again for sure

    « Terraces »

Excellent food, excellent service, classy ambience, great place to eat. Parking is easy. Enjoyed the Pork loins and steak. Located in Millbrae, Ca. I took my family here and everyone raved about this place

« Park and Fly from San Francisco »

We use El Rancho when we travel. They have a great park and fly program and the shuttle takes only five minutes to get to SFO. You can stay on your return for a reduced rate. Great staff and they really know what they are doing...we've never missed a flight!

    5
« Great Place to Stay and Leave Your Car »

We were traveling for 3 weeks and left our car there. We did have to pay additional since we was for a longer stay. That was okay. When we arrived back to the USA they picked us up, arrived at hotel and driver ran in and got our keys to our room and car. Then drove us to our room where our car was also waiting. Unloaded our bags to our room. Now that it is great customer service. We then went to the restaurant for dinner and they were on overload. A flight had been cancelled and alot of the passengers were staying there for the night. It was unexpected so they handled the crowd the best they could. I think they did a very good job and the manager was right in there helping out. Once we were seated in the restaurant great service and food. I would definitely go back. Didn't try their continental breakfast in the morning. Rooms were roomy and beds comfortable. Recommend staying there especially if you are leaving your car.

    5
« Our go-to hotel when flying out of SFO »

We live approximately 85 miles from SF. Any time we fly out of SFO , we always spend the night prior to our flight at the El Rancho Inn. Early morning traffic into SF is a nightmare. We come the evening before to check in, have dinner and drinks on the grounds and wake up well rested prior to our flight. We are shuttled from our hotel room door to the airport. Our car is parked there until our return. When we return we call the hotel and we are shuttled back to to the hotel to pick up our car. It couldn't get any easier!

    2
    « Nice hotel - Angry & Unfriendly Staff »

The hotel itself is nice, rooms, lounge landscaping etc.. The staff is another thing. There is a single lady at the front desk who is nice. The rest of the staff, including the bar/restaurant was unfriendly, intimidating and possibly racist against non-Hispanic people. The "free" breakfast, imagine this, an apple or a banana and choice of a couple different muffins and to make it worse they keep a person behind the breakfast area closely watching / staring at you while you make your choice. Very uncomfortable feeling.

We have stayed here twie. a short trip to the airport. Clean and frinedly place to stay. Great shuttle service. Cafe was just ok. Will stay again. Easy check in and out. Very safe and well lit at night. Used the park and fly service

« The absolute best place to stay near SF Airport! »

The Best Western El Rancho in Milbrae is the best place to stay in the general area of the S.F. Airport. I have stayed with them for many years and am never disappointed. I always feel save and welcomed. Rooms are clean and well appointed, conveniently located near a great restaurant and bar, pool, and garden area. They are geared to serve customers with 24 hour service, such as shuttles to and from the SF Airport.

    « Convenient, motel-style property »

Stayed here October 5, 2016. Rooms were clean and convenient to SFO airport. Room #126 was on ground floor, with king bed. Could not find elevator to 2nd floor room (#234), so had to carry suitcases up the stairs. Had a very good dinner (with excellent Russian River Valley pinot noir) at the hotel's Terrace Café/Restaurant. Early-morning shuttle to airport worked well. Only negative was trying to catch the shuttle at the airport, for transfer to the hotel. Told to use ?'courtesy phone? at airport. This proved impossible. First problem was that the courtesy phones for hotel shuttles are located outside the terminal, where vehicles are zipping along the road, making it difficult to hear on the telephone. Second problem was what little I could hear on the telephone, i.e., a repeated recording ?Thank you for calling Best Western El Rancho. Please stay on the line for the next reservationist?, over and over and over again. Eventually got lucky and saw the hotel shuttle drive by. I frantically waved, and driver Jose was kind enough to circle around and pick us up. If not for his help, who knows how long we would have stood there on the useless courtesy phone. Trying to phone the hotel directly also proved useless.

    « llee228 »

A very convenient park and fly hotel. Their shuttle runs every 15 minutes to the airport, which is approximately 10 minutes or less away depending on traffic. It's easy to reserve a room online/over the phone. Registration upon arrival is easy and quick too. Your hotel stay includes leaving your car for a maximum of 14 days and approximately $7 per day thereafter. Upon your return just call the hotel and a shuttle will be there in approximately 15 minutes. There is a no obligation departure breakfast as well. They have been doing this a very long time and you can enjoy your trip knowing your car is safe.

« Fly and Drive Fabulous! »

I was taking my daughter and son-in-law to Hawaii. I live in Northern California and they live in Wisconsin and we were flying out of SFO so we needed a night before and after our Hawaii vacation and I needed a place for my car. The Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn was the perfect choice! The rooms were clean and comfortable - the pre-flight breakfast bar was just right but the real treat was when we returned - on their great shuttle - to find my car parked outside our rooms!!! I will definitely stay there again!

    4
    « great value »

We use this hotel for park and fly purposes, they offer excellent value and service. The airport shuttle service is excellent as is the process used for parking of my vehicle. The provided breakfast was very good. The location in relation to SFO is perfect, only a few minute shuttle ride to the airport. The return process is excellent. Return booking at the hotel is perfect and a great value.

    1
« Very bad, never again »

    1) The less efficient airport shuttle ever seen (by me): after arrival at the airport, you are supposed to call the shuttle from the phone in front of the terminal, where all hotel shuttles stop. Each hotel has its number. If you dial any number, someone answers. If you dial 02 (the number for El Rancho), no answer, always busy. So you start waiting ... and you can wait a looong tima as their shuttle never pass by.During about 30 minutes, I saw 2 or 3 times the other hotel shuttles but never El Rancho's. I eventually decided to take a taxi, and I reached the hotel in 5 minutes. 2) The hotel itself: it's a motel with very basic rooms, very noisy as the doors are old and let each and every noise reach you. 3) Decent breakfast but only starting at 7:30! For a airport hotel it's a nonsense! Before that time you have poor industrial stuff at your disosal free of charge but really not what you can call a breakfast. 4) Very poor service. The staff must be underpaid and they don't care about you. 5) All this for an indecent price of 395 usd/night. Avoid this one, for the same price you definitely can have much better, and same distance to the airport!

    « 20 mins from SF airport »

We stayed two nights here one when we arrived and the other flying back to the UK.When you arrive at San Fran airport follow the signs to hotel shuttle bus. There is a free phone with the hotel listed the shuttle arrives within 10 mins no charge but you need to give the driver €1 per bag. The first night was very noisy in front of the rubbish compound. The second night we asked for a room at the back, much better room. You will also have to request if you want smoke and dog free room. The restaurant was very good eat both nights and also paid for breakfast, there is a free breakfast but we preferred something better. Bar very nice, we would recommend this for a one night airport stay. Within walking distance to a shopping mall.

    « Awesome Park & Fly! »

We stayed here because we had an early flight out of SFO and we could leave our car with them while we were gone. Our room was HUGE! It was really two rooms, plus a bathroom. We were picked up very early, right outside our room and shuttled to the airport. When we returned we called the hotel and the shuttle was there within 10 minutes and took us directly to our car! Great service, and so easy! We will definitely stay here again when we need a Park & Fly hotel!!!!

« Vacation get-away hotel before fly away »

Whenever we fly overseas, we always stay at this Best Western, partly because of its location ([proximity to SFO), its price/value but also because of their long term parking policy. If you stay one night, yoou get 2 weeks free parking.

    « A Family Tradition »

My late parents introduced me to El Rancho decades ago when they used it as a transit point in their world travels. I've never been given any reason to change where I stay during my own travels. It's a delightful experience in terms of the charm, attractiveness, and superior maintenance of the facility as well as the graciousness of staff.

« Good location, thin walls... sup with the water yo? »

I just stayed here over the last few nights on a quick trip down for a friend's wedding. Overall, I was impressed. I think the location is actually pretty great, only 45 min from downtown SF (traffic depending), super close to the airport, easy walking distance to a Safeway and trader Joe's, and a quick drive down to the burlingame shopping area. The proximity to things is great if you're renting a car, not the best for uber (estimated 50 bucks to downtown). The downside... I heard literally every bodily function of the people in the room next to me... I could tell you when they ate last depending on the rate of digestive enzymes being released. I have the timing of the cal train ingrained in me. And the water... seriously what's up with the water... bathroom faucet had no pressure... toilet was still slowly spurting itself full 5 minutes after flushing, and trying to shower was akin to playing to trying to find the balance point between fire and ice... The hot water on hot was crazily scalding, and when trying to add some cold in, it would fluctuate between hot and cold... making the act of washing shampoo off a little more like playing the hokey pokey than showering. Overall, I still recommend it, but the water issues were a bit troubling.

« Great location and very safe »

Great staff coming and going. Very helpful in getting around to and from the airport. Clean and very safe. There bus to the airport are offered often. They offer breakfast early for those flights leaving before sunrise.

« Great Park and Fly »

Great deal for travelers to/from Europe or the Far East. Stay one night at the hotel on either end of the trip and you park your car for 14 days free of charge. They are located about 5 minutes from SFO. They take you to the airport and pick you up. We've used this service several times with total satisfaction. The hotel is not the most modern, but the place is spotless and everything works. The staff is very friendly and efficient.

« Perfect spot when flying »

We usually stay here when flying from SFO. The rates are very good and convenience make it the best choice for us. They give you a phone number to call when you arrive back at the airport and they send a shuttle to pick you up. Usually a short wait. Our only complaint is that the included breakfast is just juice and prepackaged muffins. They also have a nice restaurant but it of course is extra.

« Great place to stay when the airport screws you »

We were on the first day of our honeymoon and after 19 hours in airports and multiple reroutes and 2 time zone jumps we had a 12 hour layover - we picked this hotel since it had a free shuttle and it was a good price They don't lie they really are 5 min from the airport - we were able to call them and they sent a shuttle that arrived 3 minutes later (even though it was 9pm) Orlando and Merlo at the front desk were amazing - we arrived at 9 at night and they directed us to where we could get a bite to eat and when they found out it was our honeymoon upgraded us to a King Bed - their service made a day that was super long and frustrating much better The room was clean, bright and the bed was super comfortable - the continental breakfast that was included started at 4:30 am and they even had muffins and pastries wrapped so that if you were rushing back to the airport you could bring them with you

« Your airport sleep over »

This hotel is very well done. Rooms are good. Breakfast bar is lacking. Shuttle to/from the hotel is good. You can walk in 5-10 minutes to Trader Joes across the street. In general the location is good and you don't get much airport noise. But, as many hotels in the SF area, you will be paying a premium to stay near the airport. For us, the price was better than dealing with a red-eye back to the east coast.

« Great stop for airport »

We stayed here because we had an early am flight. Based on the size of SFO, my son suggested that we return the rental car the night before. This hotel does airport pick up and drop offs. It was the perfect solution for our situation. Kudos to the drivers who do an excellent job. Our room was on the 2nd floor at the back of this huge hotel. There was an elevator so we didn't have to deal with suitcases and stairs. The room was small and average-nothing outstanding but since it was just for a night, it served the purpose. The bed was comfortable and it was quiet. Although I did hear a train in the early evening, it didn't impede our sleep. They have a "breakfast snack" starting at 4:30AM which was a huge help. And it was more than a snack...more of a continental breakfast. It was plenty to keep us from being hungry and making our 6am airport pickup. I would definitely stay here again for the airport convenience. We didn't use the pool or restaurant but they are on the grounds.

    « Pre SFO flight »

Reception did not specify about breakfast, had to ask about shuttle. Booked and paid for double queen, but given single queen and was farthest possible from check in. So didn't go back to complain. Very tight room next to BART and rail line, sounding their horns as they came through. I was afraid to use ear plugs thinking I would not hear alarm. Bed comfortable but unable to sleep. Very clean.

« Great place for park/fly at SFO airport »

This hotel has been doing the Park/Fly service for many years and does it very well. Since we live 70 hours from the airport, we always stay the night before if we have a morning flight to ensure we don't miss the flight due to traffic issues. Staying here is a great value because it included the room and the parking. In addition, the 24-hour shuttle to/from the airport makes our trip just so much more enjoyable and stress-free.

« You will want to stay for an early flight »

I love the fact that they come to my room to pick me up when it is time to go to the airport. We can leave our car at the hotel until we get back. It is very convenient. We stay here every time we need to fly out of the San Francisco airport before 11:00 a.m. It is a nice start to a trip, and we have stayed here once when we returned from an international trip. The van goes to the airport regularly.

    « Park and Fly »

Always use this hotel for their Park and Fly services; excellent, very organized. Rooms are clean and well appointed. I never consider any other hotel. The rate is reasonable particularly with the AAA discount. Make your reservation early as they are often full.

    « Great Stay »

This Best Western property is very clean and comfortable. The room was quiet and comfortable. The property has a nice lounge and restaurant. The complimentary ride to the airport and the ease of car storage made my trip out of the country very easy with peace of mind. The return home was made hassle free with the complimentary shuttle service to pick up my car.

    « Great »

Risk: Good review = Price Increase!!! Hahahaha. When traveling out of SFO, we wouldn't stay anywhere else. Eat at the restaurant. Use the well oiled system of parking for 14 days while you are on your flight, and come home at any hour of the day or night to a clean, yet modest room. Excellent bed with pristine attention to details (well, the coffee and coffee pots in-room suck...but what you you want? Go out for a cup. Or drink tea). We always stay here when we travel...My wife has been going to the place since she was six,for sixty-three years ...Ooops! She might read this.

    « Pre/Post Flight Hotel »

I have stayed here pre and post air flight trips and find it to be comfortable and efficient. It has also been a god send when flights have been delayed or late, etc. I have used this hotel with family and friends and it has worked out beautifully especially when you come in late and need to rest before driving home!

« LOVE the El Rancho »

I have stayed at El Rancho many, many times. Roy, at check in, was great. He was fast, friendly and helpful. He upgraded my sister and I to a larger room with 2 beds (I'm a Best Western VIP and really felt like one this time!!). The beds were incredibly comfortable as were the pillows. A glass of wine and an appetizer or two in the bar was enjoyable. This is so convenient for the park ?n fly, shuttle picks you up at your door, stops at one or 2 other hotels to pick up guests (on this day for us it was only El Rancho guests) and it's a quick ride across the freeway to the airport. Plan to arrive at SFO 60 ? 90 minutes prior to departure and you should be fine unless it's a holiday or 8 am Monday morning. Ravi, the shuttle driver, picked us up from the airport on our return. He is a good man, friendly and fun. He was very helpful to a couple who did not speak much English. He is very kind. It is the employees that make the El Rancho special and he is one of them. We always have a wonderful experience at El Rancho and my husband and I consider it our favorite place to stay when we fly in & out of SFO. We live in Eureka and drive almost 5 hrs to stay there. My husband's parents stayed there back in the 50's so it's a family tradition. Thanks to all who make it a place to feel safe and comfy.

« El Rancho Inn rating. »

My general experience (over the years) has been excellent. On the date in question, the water temperature of the shower was extremely difficult to adjust - either ice cold or scalding. Local management did say that the problem was being addressed.

Great hotel for the family. We reserved the suite and it was perfect for our family of 4. Very clean room. Excellent "departure snack". Staff was very helpful and polite. Terrace cafe had yummy food. Highly recommend and if we return to Millbrae - we will definitely stay here again! Thanks for a great visit!

    « Great for park-sleep-fly »

Wow were we happy when we arrived after a 10+ hour stay to see our great room--upgraded by Vickie because we are Best Western club members and coming from a long flight. Really nice room with excellent ammenities. Fornutately we were inn the 200 building and the train noise was not horrible. Airport shuttle was great both to ands from SFO. Thanks, Junior!!

    5
    « Great Place »

When we fly out of SFO we use this place as a stay/park/fly. That way we don't have to fight traffic early in the AM. The rooms are a tad small but clean. Ate at the Terrace Cafe last night and had some of the best clan chowder I have had in ages!

    2
    « ANNOYING TRAIN »

I can't believe more people don't mention the train noise!!! Room 553 and if they did soundproofing like they said, they need to do a lot more. The train sounds its horn in the middle of the night. We were unsuspecting and now are trapped tonight in this room. Plus, we are on the second floor with no elevator and we are senior citizens. They knew that since we had a AARP rate and lugging those bags up the steps. We mentioned how heavy that would be to lug bags up the steps, but no one offered to help. Won't stay here again.

« Perfect for park and fly »

This hotel has had the park and fly business for years and years and we keep coming back 20+ years now. The staff is always helpful, friendly and caring. The rooms are updated and very comfortable. The restaurant is great and they have a full bar. The breakfast room opens at 4:30 am and has an ample selection.

« Great place to stay »

El Rancho Inn is wonderful for 1 night or 1 week. We stayed and fly special. They took care of our car, pick us up.at our hotel room door and shuttled us to SFO drop us at our terminal. It was the best. The Inn was fantastic, great old charming Inn since the 50's well kept. The restaurant Terrace Cafe was fabulous see review. After our return flight we caught the Inn shuttle, (every 1/2hr, 24/7) back to the Inn and the driver dropped us at our new room with our car parked in front of the room with keys to both room and car. The room was beautiful clean comfortable. WFI good TV was OK. We will stay in Milbre at the BestWestern El Rancho Inn again and again especially when we fly out of SFO.

    5
« Nice location & Stress free airport shuttle »

We chose this place for an alternative to driving in for an early flight because they also have 2 weeks of parking included with your stay. Some great things about El Rancho is that they are within walking distance to Safeway, Walgreens, Trader Joe's and lots of good, reasonable restaurants in case you forgot something. Also the free breakfast has some nice choices ( oatmeal, boiled eggs, fruit, bagels, muffins) and not just packaged stuff AND it starts at 4:30am for those early flights. The shuttle will also pick you up near the ELEVATORS in each section instead of making you haul all your gear to the lobby. We've got this place marked for any future travels from SFO.

« A Great Place to Hang your hat! »

Service was great and the stay was enjoyable. Restaurant foos and service was also good and the bar makes a killer martini. Access to SFO is wonderful and easy with a shuttle that runs every half hour. A great place to stay for business or pleasure. I highly recommend this property.

« 1 hour by train from San Francisco. »

If you are not allergic to public transport, this is a good base for visiting San Francisco. The train station is 20 minutes walk and you can leave your car safely at the hotel. The hotel grounds are spacious and flowered with a small swimming pool and a terrace. The bedroom was small and ageing but clean and comfortable. Breakfast was included. The staff was friendly and helpful. (Price paid: 2 nights $325)

    « Very good park & shuttle experience w/SFO »

The stay/park/&shuttle experience went very smoothly. I would highly recommend this hotel for that. They provided us with paperwork describing full details of the process & this was very helpful. A # was assigned to our car. When we returned from our trip, our car was waiting for us &, because we decided to stay the night on return before going home, the room was ready for us as well. We stayed overnight on return because our flight from Paris was over 11 hrs. & we didn't want to drive 3 hrs. home afterwards.

« removes the stress of airport parking! »

the only way to go when flying out of SF International. whether you need room at the beginning or end of your trip... You may leave your vehicle in the El Rancho Inn's spacious lot. Staff loads your bags and shuttles you to the terminal. Upon your return to SFO you call & they pick you up and deposit you at the door of your room (where your vehicle has been moved) Outstanding service - The staff are friendly, professional and relaxed.

    3
« Great hotel, not so great staff/service »

Complimentary breakfast is called "good bye snack" (or similar) and consists only of fruits, bagels, coffee, undefinable orange-juice and packed muffins and brioches. If you want to get a "real breakfast", or at least one that you would expect in any other hotel as complimentary-level, you have to sit in another area of the "café" and pay for it. Staff was not unfriendly, but definitely not friendly and heartly as one would minimally expect.

« Perfect location for airport stay »

We flew in from the UK and were returning to the airport the following morning to pick up a car. In our bleary, jet lagged state El Rancho offered everything we wanted. We rang for the shuttle to pick us up from the airport and in a short time we were in our room. We had a drink in the sunshine on the terrace followed by a light dinner in The Terrace Restaurant - the staff there were very nice. In the morning we had the free breakfast which served our needs well and got a shuttle back to the airport. It also seemed like a good park and fly option although we did not need that service. We didn't use the pool as it wasn't in the sunshine when we arrived but if you were having a longer stay it was a nice facility. Would recommend this hotel.

We needed a hotel close to the San Francisco airport and my brother-in-law highly recommended El Rancho, We liked how close it was to the airport. We ate our supper at the restaurant and everything was delicious. Our room was clean and the bathroom was immaculate and had plenty of toiletries. We had the express breakfast in the morning which offered plenty of choices. We had the muffins which tasted homemade and the coffee was perfect. Thanks El Rancho! We will stay at your Inn the next time we visit the San Francisco area.

« Read this if you want the truth »

After reading a number of reviews and emailing both best Western and the El Rancho we decided this would be a good base for exploring San Francisco. It seemed to me that several reviews and even the hotel website had conflicting i nformation. Here are 3 things you should know. 1. There is a breakfast rate, You will pay about $11 daily per person for a sit-down, cooked to order breakfast. It was probably a luxury, but it was worth it to us. 2. The free Airport shuttle ONLY goes to the airport, supposedly, On our way to the airport to leave we stopped at the transit center to drop off people. I emailed BW and the hotel and was told that is not allowed. Hmmm. You can take the free shuttle to the airport and catch BART there, or you can spend $10-12 one way for a cab to the transit center. Be aware that the front desk does not have BART schedules. 3. Don't be fooled by the lovely panoramic shot of the pool. Look at my photo below.

We have stayed at the Rancho Best Western in Millbrae, CA for more than ten years. They are very professional and helpful there. The breakfast is fine. The restaurant is fine. It is close to other restaurants and stores. The rooms are great and the shuttle service is the best.

    « SFO overnight stay/parking option »

This hotel was very convenient and clean. We had not been there in many years and were impressed by how well maintained it was, inside and out. Friends reminded us to give it a try and we were very satisfied. It was great to have overnight parking, airport shuttle and early morning breakfast provided. It made our trip to the airport stress free.

    « El Rancho Inn »

Nicely kept/renovated old property. Good restaurant/lounge on site and good service from staff. A little disappointed that there was no HD TV service available in room (which I expected at this price point). All in all, the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. A good experience, would stay again.

« The most comfortable bed I have slept on »

I attended a Spiritual Retreat with several alumnae from my school. We were a group of at least 45 attendees and must have reserved more than a dozen room. The rooms had 2 queen beds each and could accommodate 4 persons. The beds and pillows were so comfortable that I was so rested the following day. Unfortunately the tub and toilet were crammed inside a small bathroom. The sink was situated outside the bathroom. There was free coffee and tea and coffee maker on the sink. There was a vending machine, ice maker and washer and dryer at the end of the hall. This is such a great convenience! We had a set dinner at Terrace Restaurant and the salmon I ordered was superb. The clam chowder I had was very good, too. The is free daily breakfast and departure snack. It was a generous array of assorted pastries, cereals, bread, fruits and coffee. I could not help notice the young lady behind the counter at the coffee shop who did not smile and had a perpetual frown on her face. On the 3 days I had breakfast, I never saw her smile. I was so hesitant to have her heat my pastry or milk. For someone who faces the guests, she should appear more cordial and helpful. Imagine seeing a frown first thing in the morning and before you depart. Last but not least, the free shuttle service to and from the SFO Airport was awesome.

« All you need in a room »

The staff was very accommodating and friendly. Rooms are very clean and the motel is centrally located making it easy to get to different places. The departure snack is enough to be a breakfast which saves you from having to dine out,

    « Great Service »

Stayed at this hotel before flying to TX. Great food and easy shuttle to SFO and pick up on return. The cost to leave our car was the best price. We don't fly very often so staying at the hotel made it a lot simpler.

« Still good as ever »

I have never been disappointed by my stays at the El Rancho Inn & Suites in Millbrae every time I visit San Francisco. Highly recommended due to the close proximity of many amenities (i.e. BART/public transportation, St. Dunstan Catholic Church, various eateries/restaurants, the shopping center which also includes a Safeway). I definitely plan to come back here in the near future.

« Beauty and Comfort Combined »

We needed a place close to the airport and value for the money. We enjoyed our one night stay, the room was very comfortable, wi-fi easy to use and breakfast was great for a type-2 diabetic. Will definitely stay here again and recommend it to all our friends.

    « Immaculate furnishings »

The room was spacious, nicely decorated, and comfortable. The bed and other amenities were excellent. The shower was warm and refreshing. The free shuttle was on time. The free breakfast was good except that it has no non-fat milk. The fact that breakfast was available early was good because we had an early flight from San Francisco. This hotel is ideal for people who want to spend a night near the airport and catch an early flight.

« Very convenient and friendly »

We were stopping over after flying from the UK with a flight to Maui the next day. It's just a short journey from the airport. The rooms are clean and with good facilities. Beds are large and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant on site and whilst nothing special it was perfectly adequate after a long flight. We had to be up early in the morning for our flight. They serve a breakfast snack from 0430 which was very convenient. Far from a breakfast snack this was perfectly acceptable as a normal breakfast by my standards! Check out was an easy process and the staff were all friendly / helpful. Free shuttle back to the airport that you have to book a time for when checking in. All in all ideal for short stop overs.

    5
« Ideal location close to airport »

We stayed here for one night prior to flying from San Francisco Airport. Everything was perfect for our stay. The staff were very helpful regarding directions to the SFO Car rental drop off and how to access the airport from there. They offer a shuttle bus to the airport bus as we had a car to drop off and an early flight it was better for us to drop car off and take the shuttle from the car rental centre. A pre breakfast snack is available if leaving early and other breakfast served later. As we were leaving at 4.30am we didn't bother and grabbed food at the airport. We ate an evening meal in the bar area (the restaurant was full) and the service and meal were great - average price. Hotel was clean and tidy so no complaints.

Staff friendly, nice clean rooms, would highly recommend. They are adding a badly needed elevator. My son had to walk with crutches to the second floor. Very difficult for him. Departing snack was mostly prepackaged muffins, etc not that good. I had bagel, banana and apple. Restaurant on premise.

    « Above & Beyond »

We have stayed here in the past when we flew out of SFO to Singapore, leaving our car for a week each time. Car was never damaged, even when moved to the back-lot. This time, returning from Singapore, tired & jet-lagged, we were picked up promptly at SFO within minutes of calling them outside the terminal. At check-in, I requested a room in the 200 or 300 block (facing the inner courtyard). We had stayed in the 700 block last week & were startled by the frequent trains' whistles "next door" Vicki upgraded us to a Junior Suite (Room 257) on the second floor. She also signed us up for the $50 (rebate?) gift card that was a current Special Offer I didn't know about! The furnishings were newer; huge comfy bed (though the 4 pillows were too big & firm for me), refrigerator, coffeemaker. On entry, there was a living room and bathroom, with the bedroom further in. We could still hear the occasional train whistle but not as bad. Being a corner room, we didn't hear any neighbors or downstairs traffic although the carpeted floor was a bit squeaky so we may have irritated the room downstairs Free wifi had a fairly strong & consistent signal in the room & restaurant The pool was adequate - not for swimming laps but nicely "heated" in the sunshine. The hot tub was too hot & strongly chlorinated for me. I was also a little irritated at the one smoking guest wafting smoke around the pool area ... We ate dinner at the Terrace Restaurant - prices were okay and the salads were very generous. I watched Lupe the server, do a masterful job with 10 tables of diners at various stages of ordering, eating, checking out, etc. - always with a warm smile & a little humor, very professional! The free "departure breakfast" was more than adequate but seating was limited. Some guests preferred to order at the restaurant but we were quite happy with muffins, toast, bananas, coffee, juice, etc. We checked out mid-morning after the usual rush-hour traffic was past & got onto the freeways easily. A good location for an older, but well-maintained hotel

    « Sleepless in Millbrae »

The hotel is an average Best Western, motel style, good enough to spend a night before catching a flight the next day. It was very clean and the staff was friendly. There is a free airport shuttle which we also used to get on the BART train into San Francisco. The shuttle driver was very accomodating and dropped us off at the train station which usually is not a stop. If you expect to get any sleep before a long day of traveling, don't stay there. It's right by the train tracks, and a train goes by every 10 minutes and honks its horn every single time. This goes on until 12 or 1 in the morning!

« Just an average motel »

Expected more from the reviews. Looks an average old style American motel. We were on second floor with no elevator so had to lug 3 heavy cases upstairs although a guy did help me. Rooms are clean but small. Bathroom very small and tired. Bed was very comfy. They say breakfast included but you only get the fast departure one which is so so.

On the positive side : - The hotel is close to the airport - about 5 minutes - It had reasonably large beds - decent sized rooms However, a number of negatives we experienced : - Very indifferent staff. There were a number of incidents when Front office and restaurant staff spoke rudely and without concern even when they could see we had younger kids - Not friendly for guests without a car. We had to lug 4 pieces of luggage to a room that was a long way off from the reception. they don't even have a luggage trolley - which is very strange for a hotel that is spread over a very large area - the quality of the free breakfast is basic and inconsistent. When we ate there, there wasn't even bread - shuttle took 35 minutes to arrive at the airport after we were asked to be standing at the precise place BEFORE we even called the hotel. Given our limited time in SF - was a big waste. Pls don't bother with the shuttle - just UBER it. - Very basic food choices at the hotel. We couldn't find interesting food options in the immediate vicinity either. Believe it is a hotel which provides decent value and convenience if you are driving and are going to spend very little time at the hotel. For others, suggest you look elsewhere.

    « Wonderful experience! »

We had a short one-night stay before flying out the next morning but in that time were impressed by the staff, experience and comfort of the room. I also left an item in my room which I didn't realize until much later. The housekeeping staff and manager were very efficient and immediately went to our room, located the item, and offered me the best way to hold it until my return. The manager Jenny was kind and very professional. We will be back!

« Park and Fly on most occassions. »

We love the El Rancho Inn. It has a wonderful park and fly program. Takes us to the airport and picks us up on our return flight. We love spending time in their restaurant and bar. The service is excellent and the staff very friendly. We could not ask for more.

« Convenient! Stay here and save on rental car costs... »

Location to SFO (helpful hotel shuttle service) and off-site rental car offices! Shuttle to the hotel from the airport for a quick overnight stay; Enterprise (there's a plug for them too) driver picked us up the next morning and WE SAVED A LOT by not renting the car at the airport. For our return flight we showed up at the Enterprise office and they then dropped us off a the airport. It does not get better than that. Hotel is somewhat mundane and dated but there is clear evidence of constant upgrades and renovations so no complaints. Facility is clean. Two breakfast options available....ample continental buffet or full service. For a quick overnight after a late arriving flight this was perfect.

« convenient, clean and comfortable »

This Best Western was really a nice spot. My family was comfortable and happy at this great hotel. I loved the decor and the location. The staff was amazing . So nice and very professional. The free breakfast was set up very nicely and the restaurant was super clean. The price for the room was reasonable . We recommend this hotel for families or anyone traveling to the San Francisco area.

    « Just Perfect »

We stayed here upon our return from Yosemite and flew out the next morning and everything was just perfect from check-in to front desk advice, airport shuttle and dinner at the on site restaurant. The bedding was amazing as well! This is a well run property and they are ON THEIR GAME. The next time we are in the area we won't hesitate to stay again. Top notch AND affordable.

« Vintage motel, nicely updated »

The positives: a pleasant room, good bed, nice towels, complimentary breakfast or "departure snack". There was even a gluten-free, freshly baked muffin on offer! Negatives: the dreadful room freshener/ deodorizer essence that permeated our room: chemical sensitives, beware! And no recycling options in the breakfast area, which generates a ton of disposables and compostables. A shame.

« A great start to our family vacation »

This is the first time we have stayed at The Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn on their Park,Sleep, and Fly. We have stayed at other Park,Sleep, and Fly and this one (hands down) has been the best experience. The entire staff we came in contact with was very friendly and helpful. Not the newest hotel but definitely a really good value for the money. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. We will come back and recommend it to family and friends.

« Very convenient for an early morning flight »

This is a good, well-priced option if you have an early flight out of SFO. It's more along the lines of a motel than a hotel, so don't expect luxury, but it's clean and the staff is friendly. It's very easy to get to/from SFO.

    « "Best auto sitter" »

WE have stayed at this hotel maybe 20 times in the last few years. While the lighting could be brighter and the breakfasts could be served and more extensive, the pricing could be a great deal higher. We have found that we get good value here. And always get to the airport and back with no problems. And the car is always ready for us.

    « Peace of Mind: 4 PILLOWS »

My son and I stayed at Best Western and everything went well. I was able to leave my car for a 14 day stay as we flew off to visit Grandma. My son forgot a precious toy, a gift from my uncle before he was born. At the airport, I called and alerted the staff. Two weeks later my son's toy was safe and sound inside my car. The hotel staff, from phone reservation, front desk, car storage, shuttle driver, breakfast comp crew, to the people who keep the rooms clean, all did a wonderful job. The price for two nights, and parking my car for 15 days was affordable. I give THIS hotel FOUR PILLOWS, which is my highest rating.

    « A bit dissapointing »

I stayed here before a flight and was disappointed. The rooms need some TLC. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and the food was just ok- I had the mushroom risotto and although the mushrooms were delicious the rice wasn't really a risotto it was almost a wild rice.

    2
« Well below expectations for BW »

Rude staff on reception who take their time serving you, and act as though their doing you a favour by allowing you to stay at the hotel. Dim/dark hotel rooms because of poor/insufficient lighting. Limited on-site parking. Incompetent waiters in on-site cafe, and poor choice of breakfast items on cafe's menu.

« the only way to fly »

We stay at this hotel twice a year on average. We don't consider any other hotel. It is so convenient for travel from SFO. The front desk staff is excellent. The hotel is almost charming. The restaurant is acceptable. The shuttle operators and car parking staff are very reliable. They really know what they are doing. No unpleasant surprises. They will help you get your trip started and ended on the right foot.

    4
« Best way to fly out of SFO »

I stayed here because they have a park and fly program with SFO. Since I'd have to pay for long term parking anyway, and since I'm generally beat after a long flight home, this is the perfect solution. They offer a really low-hassle shuttle pick up from the airport that drops you straight at your room at the hotel, with your car already parked outside. Also, the place is very clean and many of the staff there are really friendly.

    « Everything you'd expect »

Great one-night stay here. The room are updated and comfortable (really comfortable beds) and the service is excellent. Convenient shuttle to and from the airport too. As a bonus there's a great pool for the kids to let off some steam.

    5
« Park, stay and fly »

Need to stay overnight, leave your car somewhere and get shuttled to the airport both ways? This is it. Plus a great breakfast before you leave! Costs the same as a parking lot but so much more. Pool and jacuzzis too! Can't beat it!

« Best Value for Room and Car storage at SFO »

Excellent Value We used the car storage for 10 days and a room for one night upon arrival from Europe. Drive the next day was made much easier. 1950's California charm with updated rooms and excellent service. Quick van service both ways. Good restaurant as well as a breakfast with the room charge. Will definitely use again when traveling out of SFO!

« Very good if you know what to expect »

We stayed with 4pers (2 adults + 2 "kids" (18 & 19y) for two nights in a standard room. Room consists of 2 comfortable queen beds. Choice between Soft or Firm pillow. Furthermore a small bathroom, only 1 sink :( , a fridge and a coffee maker. Staff was very friendly and check in was quick. Pool is small. Free wifi and parking. The hotel is 35-60min drive from San Francisco city center!! Breakfast "a la carte" is about 13$/pers. It is good. There is also a FOC breakfast option. Dinner at the restaurant was ok. Overall very good, but would look for a place downtown next time.

Booked purely for ease and convenience for our early morning departure to SFO Arrived slightly early and were able to check in Gave us detailed map of where to drop our hire car off, and once that was done also collected us and dropped us back at the hotel Wifi really good Room spacious clean, bed v comfy Restaurant evening meal was delicious Staff helpful and friendly Gym basic but did the job Shuttle to SFO runs every 30 mins so ideal Very pleasant stay

    « Surprisingly Disappointing »

I have stayed at this hotel many, many times over the years (since the 1980's). I was so disapointed this last time, I had to post my experience. First of all, I booked a park and fly room and requested a specific room to accommodate my family and friend - me, my friend of over 40 years, and my two teen-aged grand-daughters. I requested a first floor room as one of my grand-daughters was recovering from a soccer injury. I requested a two room suite to ensure privacy because my grand-daughters had not traveled with my friend before. The room reservations were for our departure date (6/23) as well as our return date (7/11). I got a call a couple of days before our first stay and was informed that a family was staying in the suite we had booked and had extenuating circumstances that required them to stay an additional day. Rather than moving them to another unit, they asked if I would be willing to take adjacent queen bed rooms on the ground floor. While I was not particularly happy about the situation, I felt compassion for the family and agreed to it. But I asked them to make sure that would not happen on the return. I was assured it would not. They guaranteed me our suite on the ground floor. Well, guess what? After 26 hours of travel, we were picked up at the airport and dropped off at the bottom of a three-story structure at the back of the property, right next to the BART tracks. Our room was on the 3rd floor, it was not the suite we had requested, and it was on the other side of the elevator, so my grand-daughter had to haul her two suitcases to the other side. When we looked over the facility, we found the bathroom carpet to be stained with black dots and white streaks, and the gap between the rooms to be incredibly dirty with clumps of something that could have easily been picked up with a vacuum cleaner. We were way too exhausted to make our way to the front desk. When we checked out the next day, I voiced my disappointment with the whole situation (oh, and I had emailed the desk two days before our return flight to remind them of what we had reserved and that we didn't want there to be any surprises, they never responded). I was not blaming the lady at the front desk, it was not her responsibility, but I let her know we were not happy. In addition, my travel buddy has another upcoming international trip and has a park and fly reservation with a request for the same suite - she asked them to check at the desk and make sure she would not have any problems and she was told they didn't show a reservation for her. YIKES!! What is going on??? Oh, and when we grabbed a bite at the continental breakfast, we observed an employee making trips through the breakfast line, leaving with food and coffee, then coming back for more. Not sure how many people he was feeding, but when I went to get coffee, they were out. Another guest was already waiting. I gave up. I will seriously have to reconsider where I will be staying before my next trip. And one more thing, as exhausted as we were, the constant noise of the BART trains awakened us all night long.

« Hotel, park and fly! »

I am disabled and needed a ground floor room. Because their was an issue with the room they were to place us in, they upgraded us to a huge suite!! We were tired and leaving on their free shuttle at 4am so we didn't get to hangout and enjoy it. It just shows the quality of service that they offer! We will return in a week to retrieve our car and hopefully find all well!

    « Wow, what a great deal! »

Where has this place been all my life? We regularly fly out of SFO but most of our usual places won't take the car for 16 days at any reasonable rate. This place was organized, like, they've got it DOWN! Envelope for the car key, shuttle pick up at the room, reminder call, knew what I was up to right when I arrived. Perfectly fine room, nothing fancy like the Hampton Inn or anything??. Don't skip the restaurant. They were out of the steaks we ordered which forced us to try the seafood options, which were delicious. A nightcap by the fire in the bar was lovely. And top it off with a friendly shuttle driver who was right on time. Stay here folks!

    « No elevators! »

Stayed in this hotel for one night, arrived in SFO after 24 hours trip, waiting time for the shuttle wasn't bad, around 15 minutes. The shuttle driver was friendly and helpful as well. Arrived in this hotel, I got the room around building 600 (they divided the area by building 600, 700, etc). The shuttle driver took us to the building area, he told us that the room had no elevators, it was around 9 PM, very dark and we had to brought the heavy luggages into the room upstairs (the front desk didn't told us about it, I thought every hotel should have elevators). Therefore I had to walked again in the cold and dark parking area to the front desk. Luckily the front desk still have rooms in building 700, the only building with elevators. So I could move into that room. But I think the hotel area is confusing, especially during the night, lack of lights in the parking area, I couldn't find my building area. Room were comfortable, beds were large, everything is okay. Departure snack were adequate for breakfast for me, warm drink were provided, fruits, breads. Around 30 mins to Union Square area, Uber were found easily in that area. SFO Barts sound were loud from the room but didn't distract our sleep.

« Nice property, loud neighbors, unfriendly shuttle driver »

Small but nice rooms were comfortable and very clean. The bathroom had a skylight which was wonderful, and the bed comfortable. Unfortunately other guests were up late in adjoining rooms and on the exterior walkway and were quite noisy. When I was leaving to check out (Sunday morning, July 10, I passed the shuttle in the parking lot and asked when he was leaving. His reply was "right now," and did not follow up with another explanation or comment.. I then checked out and walked to the Millbrae train station. About five to ten minutes into my walk, I saw the shuttle pass me. It is obvious the driver did not leave immediately and I could have easily checked out and been onboard before his departure. I was in business attire, it was a hot day, and I didn't appreciate working up a sweat on the mile walk to the station. This left a bad taste in my mouth and goes to show how one employee with poor customer service attitude can ruin the whole experience.

    « Park and Fly »

We often book the El Rancho's Park and Fly out of San Francisco. Their deal of two weeks parking with a night's stay at either end of a trip takes a lot of stress out of travel, if you live out of town like we do. They are always attentive to our needs, and add a reasonable additional charge per day for parking beyond two weeks. What I don't understand is since TripAdvisor is all about travel, why can we not book the Park and Fly option through them???

    5
    « Convenient & Clean »

Close to SFO airport. Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and in good neighborhood. Easy access to all destinations in the San Francisco Area. I will stay here again on future business trip to Bay area.

    « Nice hotel »

Very nice hotel, had nice rooms. The breakfast area was large enough and the breakfast was good. I don't know if a local baker makes the muffins but they are awesome. I'm glad we traveled back up the PCH to stay there.

« Great option for an airport stay »

The rooms were clean. The free breakfast was filling. The free shuttle to the airport was easy and convient. This hotel is a great option if you need to stay overnight before a trip. They also support park & fly with much cheaper rates than parking at the airport.

    « Off to Europe »

This is a very convenient location when driving to SFO for flights and being able to park and use their very well organized shuttle service to the airport. The continental breakfast room work great to get the day started of right. We also enjoy their restaurant for an evening meal, usually the night prior to flying out of SFO. A very nice menu and well prepared dishes.

« Good airport place to stay »

My review could be a 3.5 - overall our stays here were fine. We stayed a night before heading to Maui and then a night coming back. The hotel shuttle aspect is EXCELLENT! Very easy and right on time. Perfect in that regard and is a reason I'd stay again. There is some construction going on and we did get one room down from that. Could hear water running all the time, we were very near the train and was a bit of a funny smell but was fine for what we were there for - to sleep and catch the shuttle back to airport. Staff was very helpful and friendly in ordering some pizza.

    « A great "stay-cation" getaway! »

We always feel like we're at home! The staff are very helpful and courteous. We have been coming to this hotel for a few years and it's become our go-to place away from home! The landscape is lush and beautiful, and the sparkling pool is just so inviting.

« THE best place to stay near SF Airport or Daly City-SSF area!!! »

I recently stayed at this wonderful hotel. Conveniently located, spacious, clean rooms, wonderful restaurant and bar, always feels safe 24/7 when coming and going. Staff is always most helpful and accommodating. Elaine, who worked the Front Desk late night shift really helped me out at 2:30 am by making some copies of paperwork I needed for early the next morning for an event I was putting on. She truly saved the day! They have convenient 24 hour shuttle service to and from the airport, pick people up right outside their rooms. Lovely garden and other places to sit and read or relax. I always feel safe and welcomed at the BW El Rancho, Milbrae!!!

    « Nice place »

This is a nice place, but beware, there is a train that goes buy a lot in the back of the hotel, very loud. Air port is close. Other than that, is a nice clean place to park your body. Just try to get a room more on the front side of the hotel.

Something nice in such a small city, will come back... love the hospitality.staff was very nice, nice gym, pool and the way they treat you. You feel just like home, all rooms are clean and nice. If I find my self in the Area I will look forward to spend it in this hotel... keep up the goodness...

« Mostly wonderful, only one major problem. »

Wonderful: the quality of the food from the cafe for room service was unbeatable. The staff was friendly and went out of the their way to make our stay pleasant. This hotel also has the sleep and fly service, a fantastic deal! Meh: Zero vegetarian entrees on room service menu. However, they allowed us to have an amazing portobello mushroom risotto dish from their main menu! Problematic: People downstairs were smoking out on their porches and the foul air and smoke was wafting up into our room, with plumes of stinky toxic air entering our lungs whenever we stepped foot outside our door.

I booked this site online with no idea of area. I was very satisfied with this site and the area. Good value for price, comfortable and clean. Would recommend for anyone needing a place in that area. Near the airport but not so close you are disturbed. Felt safe moving about the site.

« Much good, some details not »

Very well managed older property well kept in convenient location for airport. ENTERPRISE CAR rental 1 1/2 miles away on San Bruno Ave. Returning car there was $100 less than returning to airport . Gas stations nearby. On site restaurant good and reasonable. Very good shuttle service. Staff excellent. HOWEVER, sadistic shower ran than walked all the while while alternating between scalding and frigid . Bed overly soft. Room nice but small...but then @ $160 it was a good value. Except for the abominable shower water fluctuations I would rate this 4+.

« Early flight - needed hotel near airport »

I was expecting a standard, run of the mill hotel since we were so close to the airport but was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the facility. The grounds were very pleasant, the suite was terrific, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The 4:30 am shuttle was on time and picked us up right outside our room so we didn't have to lug our bags all the way to the front, which was definitely a bonus. We will definitely us Best Western Plus for future needs.

    « el Rancho Park n Fly »

The package for park n fly at El Rancho is excellent, Having a 4 AM flight from SFO a stay at the El Rancho was ideal and then to be able to leave my car for 14 days made the package even better. We were able to arrive, relax, have an evening cocktail in their bar, and then get some sleep before the AM departure. The rooms are small, but ideal for the quick turn. I would highly recommend this package.

    « Expected more.... »

With the great reviews I had read I was expecting more from this motel. We had a room way out in the back of the property, next to the railroad tracks. The noise wasn't really noticable, but the condition of the building was old and run down and the room and bathroom were tiny. I would find another option in the area, especially when paying over $150/night.

    « Outstanding! »

My family has been staying at the El Rancho for at least three generations now. My grandparents, parents, aunts/uncles/cousins and myself have always used this excellent property when flying in and out of SFO. It is comfortable, clean, convenient, friendly, and provides quality service delivered with a smile. Even when we have had rooms in older areas of the property, due to renovations or space, it is always a pleasant experience. If there is a problem, the staff does their very best to provide a better solution. The Park and Fly program is an option we have taken advantage of for many family vacations. Recently, I, my daughter and three granddaughters flew to CA for a funeral. It was a long drive north from SFO and a long week's stay. The last day we were in the Bay area, we decided to lighten the mood for the little girls and go to Great America. We had pre-booked our room in advance at the El Rancho for that night, so we could fly out easily the following day. We got in later in the evening, tired and hungry, ready to relax. The gentleman behind the desk explained to me that the type of room we had reserved had all been filled and stated that they were upgrading us to a better available room. I have had this happen previously, and always with good results. When we found our room and walked in, we were delighted and astonished to find ourselves in a lovely suite with all the best amenities. Later that evening, I walked down to the office and thanked the desk clerk for the kind and generous gift of this suite. It made our trip ending outstanding. This is why we will always stay at the El Rancho when we are in town. I would give this place six plus stars, if possible.

    « Great Park-Sleep-and-Fly Hotel »

The room is basic, no frills, has a small refrigerator. It is a good place to leave your car for up to 2 weeks when you fly somewhere from SFO. You call them from the airport when you return, they pick you up in about 10-15 minutes, and bring you up to your car. Early breakfast is a plus. There is also a good restaurant on-site.

« My Home away from home »

I have been staying at the El Rancho for years whenever I fly out of SFO. The front office staff is awesome, always. The restaurant is just stellar. Such wonderful food! The beds are soooo comfortable as are the pillows. I am just so grateful this place exists. The Stay and Fly option is so perfect for me. Thank You El Rancho.

« Convenient hotel near SFO »

This is our go-to hotel to stay and fly. The low parking charge makes the stay virtually free when comparing to parking at the airport. The hotel is clean and functional, but not deluxe. A free early morning breakfast is a life-saver when needing to catch an early flight. Round the clock shuttles to and from the airport work well. The area has lots of good Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai and other restaurants, grocery stores (good for picking up lunch for your flight), etc., and the hotel restaurant is simple but good, and is open late (very nice when coming in to stay after a long flight). I have compared other hotels in the area, and have found none that meets my needs as well as this one.

« Great stay and fly option »

Love this hotel. I've used it for the stay one night and have your car there while I fly from SFO on trips. I usually stay the night I return as well and find the staff helpful. Easy pick up from the airport. Good food at restaurant.

    « Convenient »

We were looking for a place near SFO to stay and this fit the bill. The shuttle service was excellent - got us to the airport on time and picked us up outside our room. It was a bit noisy - our room was across from the pool, and we could hear outside noise at night (it may have been because we had noisy neighbours). The morning departure snack was great - coffee, muffins, bread, fruit are available if you are flying out in the morning. Overall a good choice if you are looking to be close to the airport.

« Convenient, compfortable, and fit for purpose »

When a friend and I had an early morning flight out of SFO, we stayed at El Rancho Inn the evening before, primarily because of the top rating given it by other Tripadvisor reviewers. It is exactly as advertised: convenient to SFO (the shuttle takes 20 minutes) and comfortable, albeit not luxurious. It's really a large, gussied up motel located on a non-descript commercial strip just outside the airport, but the rooms are located off the main road, creating an illusion of resort-like solitude. Our room was fairly generic: twin beds with bathroom sink located just outside the bathroom proper. However, the decor was warm, with nice wood furniture that didn't appear cheap. The beds were comfortable, and the internet was good. The public area is a small island in the parking lot, with a very clean pool and comfortable outdoor furniture. The bar is inviting and convivial, and the Terrace Restaurant is mediocre but just fine for a quiet meal. A big plus is the complimentary breakfast that starts at 4:30am, with coffee, juice, cold cereal, and pastries (and even hard-boiled eggs!). If I could, I would rate it between "Good" and "Very good." It's not as cheap as one of the old Holiday Inns or Ramada Inns from the 1970's and 80's, but it's not 4-star either. But for a clean and comfortable place to rest and renew before braving the crowds and security queues at SFO, it's perfect. I would definitely return.

    3
    « noisy »

Sits adjacent to high speed rail/railroad tracks. Trains blow horns as they pass hotel. Front desk staff average at best. Complimentary breakfast was adequate. No fan/vent for bathroom. Room windows didn't open for ventilation.

    « A Smart Choice Near SFO »

There was so much that impressed us about the treatment we received at El Rancho that I'm afraid I may be sounding like a hired praiser; but so many of the little acts of special attention really impressed us. At check-in, I mentioned that we had a rental car we needed to turn in, and the lady at the reception desk quickly outlined their very efficient program for us to do so. The efficient service and simple but high quality and good value menu at the inn's restaurant were perfect for the night before an early morning flight. The "SOFT" and "FIRM" pillows were godsends after weeks of uncomfortable pillows on the road. The pick-up shottle service coming to our rooms on our early morning departure. The 4:00 AM travelers' snack breakfast with those delicious eggy muffins. I'm also going to report this on trip advisor. Thanks for a wonderful and refreshing visit.

Excellent operation. Service was excellent. Getting to and from the airport was very simple and quick. Breakfast was outstanding. Front desk personnel did an excellent job of checking us in and out. Location of this facility is excellent for those flying out of SFO.

« El Rancho Inn is for frequent flyers »

The rooms were great, but we were told our rooms had a connecting door and had been recently blocked off to make a closet. I thought it strange that the check-in person did not know that. This hotel seems to cater to people who fly out of SF airport and store their cars while gone. We were not able to park in front of our room due to people with parking permits that were not at the hotel, but storing their cars while gone. I felt they should have a different place to park their cars. The breakfast was not the large hot breakfast I usually get at other Best Western Plus locations. Lots of muffins, bagels and toast. The Cafe on property had a nice breakfast, but we would have to pay extra on top of room price. The Fitness Center was open 24 hrs and my Nephew enjoyed that. Rooms were comfy and we did not hear airport. Liked the Noon check-out so we could take our time.

« All one could want in a budget hotel! »

Convenient location right on El Camino Real. Clean, cozy room with fridge, micro, hair dryer, iron & ironing board. Comfortable beds. Pool & Jacuzzi, both set at perfect temperature. Friendly, helpful desk staff. Business center to print boarding passes. Curved shower rod, sink separate from tub (always appreciated). My mom, who was a travel agent for 20+ years, put her corporate clients here many times and nobody was ever disappointed. Decent free breakfast until 9:30 a.m., free parking, free wifi which connected easily with no issues across multiple devices. Has a very resort-like feel for a budget hotel. Really couldn't ask for more at this price point! Thank you for a wonderful stay. We will definitely consider staying here again when in the area.

« Nice and Clean rooms »

Room was of good size and Clean. Breakfast (departure snack) is not too bad, and I think available from 4am. Shuttle to airport every half hour round the clock is really convennient; even if it means taking shuttle to airport and taking the BART (train) to visit downtown San Francisco. Friendly staff and shuttle driver.

    « Good Visit »

The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful especially when they had trouble finding our reservation. The room was nice but small. The room was at the far end of the hotel property but was easy to get to. There was some construction that made accessing the room and ice machines more difficult. Perhaps the most frustrating part was the wifi kept dropping and reconnecting. We had a family emergency and had to leave a day early. They told us that we would have to contact getaroom.com which is who TripAdvisor went through to get our particular room. When I contacted gets room.com they indicated that they were going to have to contact the hotel to see if they would allow the late cancellation of the room. We are still waiting on the outcome. All in all it was a good stay.

    « Average hotel »

I stayed in this hotel for one night to catch early morning flight from SFO. We arrived late evening and had to lug our luggage all the way to room 132 located on first floor. The hotel has no lifts/ elevators and it was a real pain to pull all that heavy luggage in the room. No bell men to help. Bathrooms are very small. Breakfast till 730 am is very average with some breads and biscuits. Very little choice and so if you have to leave hotel before that time be content with this average stuff. They do serve a full breakfast after 730 am. Positive aspects include helpful reception staff and free drop at the airport which can save a few bucks. However all in all I don't think this hotel is value for money and one can definitely find better options around SFO airport area. Not recommended.

« great place for the buck »

Nice place to stay for the value -- Will be back, great location. Very safe feeling for the area. Nice restaurants close by and on site, some withing walking distant. The staff will lead you in the direction of the better places to eat, or the variety of food you looking for

    « Convenient and Comfortable »

I have stayed here several times. The airport shuttle is very convenient, as well a long term parking. The hotel is clean and comfortable and the overall experience is nice. I will return next time I have an early or late flight and I recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in or out of SFO.

    4
    « very reliable »

have stayed here many times because of the park and fly option. Rooms are always clean and staff always helpful. The breakfast was good. The shuttle to airport has always been reliable. Will stay in the future.

« Best Western near the SFO Airport »

A good, convenient stay. Handy shuttle, nice send-off breakfast, comfortable rooms. The staff are very, very accommodating, the cleanliness is exceptional, the location couldn't be better what with restaurants, stores, etc. right nearby.

« Good motel near the airport, but be aware of the train! »

We stayed at the El Rancho on El Camino Real in Millbrae because it offered a 24-hour shuttle service to the airport. We had an early morning international flight and needed to be at the airport at 4a.m. We were pleasantly surprised with this motel, and would definitely use it again in such a circumstance with one major caveat ? the train! This is a spread-out motel with lots of rooms on a major thoroughfare. It also has a lot of parking because they also offer a park-and-ride option. Reception was very friendly and helpful. When we asked about the shuttle, they told us to reserve it for pick-up at 3:30 a.m. and that the driver would pick us up at our room. While this seemed odd at the time, we quickly understood why since our room was located way in the back of the property near construction for the hotel (and also, we were to learn, near the train tracks!). It would have indeed been a long walk to the lobby at 3:30 in the morning. We were too early for even their 4:30 a.m. breakfast offerings, but we would not have hiked up there for breakfast at 3:30 in any event. We booked on Hotel.com and got a reduced rate over the rate that we found from the hotel on-line. Our room was roomy and clean. There were two queen beds, which may have been the reason for the cheaper rate (versus a king room). There was a closet, a cabinet with a TV, a refrigerator, a few drawers, a desk/chair, one nightstand, and louvered windows. The vanity was separate from the toilet/bath, and all were older. The AC worked but was either cold or no fan. Wifi was free and easy. Ice and drink vending down the hall. There were two stories with a single long row of rooms and no elevator in our section (the construction is putting another in). We went up a half flight of stairs to get to the room hallway. We were interested in a quick, early dinner since we had a ball game to catch on TV (yes, thank goodness they had TNT!). Luckily, there is a restaurant in the hotel because we did not have a car and restaurants did not appear to be in abundance near-by. The Terrace Café (see separate review) opened at 5, and we were there just about as soon as it opened. Since it was not a big place and probably several other people had in mind the same idea, we were glad we got there early before a crowd could build ? remember this hotel has a LOT of rooms. We got out quickly with a shared appetizer, two burgers, and a bottle of wine for $75, including tip, so we were happy. Food was fine, nothing to write home about, but exactly what we wanted. We found sleeping difficult in the room. There was only the heavy duvet, which we were unable to sync with the AC either making it too cold in the room or too hot with the duvet. The room was nicely dark, but the train that was near-by seemed to come roaring past every hour to hour and a half. Next time, we would definitely ask for a room at the front of the building, far from the train tracks! The shuttle arrived at the stairs outside our room right at 3:30 a.m., and we were at the airport by 3:45, but the airport personnel did not arrive until around 4:30. TSA-Pre was also not open that early so early flights at SFO are no bargain!

    « Great Airport hotel »

Stopped here overnight before going into San Fran , nice hotel, comfortable beds, great staff recommended for short stay. Complimentary breakfast was great value and for USA not a bad cup of tea!!! Car park is huge so no problem there and staff were great.

    2
    « Frequent noisy trains »

Our late flight meant we arrived at 11pm and were put in a room round the back. The room faces a railway crossing that is in frequent use and sounds a warning siren for every train, with each train also blowing it's horn. They clearly do not care about customers getting a good night sleep as there is no attempt to sound proof the room. The room itself was otherwise OK but with no safe.

« For me, El Rancho Still Remains The Best Park N' Fly Option for SFO »

My wife and I have used the Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn for our Park N' Fly needs going on 30 years now. The El Rancho offers one of the best packages for parking your vehicle (14 days included). Many of the other options available offer only 7 day parking options, and many limit the hours their shuttle operates. El Rancho Inn operates a shuttle 24-hours per day, 7 days per week, with a shuttle running every 30 minutes. You can park your vehicle up to 14 days included in the initial price, and then it is their is a fee per day (either $5 or $7 per day) after that. We recently returned from Europe and parked our vehicle 34 days at El Rancho. The staff at El Rancho are friendly, and helpful.

    5
« Consistently good lodging and service »

El Rancho has consistently good lodging and service. We have stayed there for business or pleasure trips for over 35 years. The Park and Fly aspect is run very efficiently, and shuttle drivers very courteous. The location of the hotel is perfect for our travel needs out of San Francisco Int. airport. We will always stay there coming or going from SFO

    4
« Nice hotel close to airport »

The hotel was a very good value. The room was comfortable and clean. The property is very large with 7 buildings of rooms and a very large parking lot. They offer a park and fly option because they are within 2 miles of SFO but we didn't use this feature. They are also within a mile of the Millbrae Bart station, so be prepared for train whistles all night long. I also bring ear plugs any time I stay in a hotel. They have a restaurant on the property which we did not try because there were so many on El Camino that we wanted to sample. I would stay there again.

« Great experience right outside SF! »

The room, staff, price and amenities were excellent for what we were looking for. Right outside SF, nearby airport so convenient. Prices excellent considering SF. Nice 15 minute walk to BART or CalTrain or you can use their shuttle to SFO and take BART from there. Vicky and Lariana, especially Vicky, were excellent in providing information, directions and help in booking/getting Enterprise Rent-A-car, tours and many other services too numerous too mention. On getting driven back to the airport, Martin the on-staff airport Limo driver stated that this is a truly family-owned operation (over 60 years, employed their 19 years) and it truly shows in everything they do. Nice breakfast buffet and hotel restaurant. Free shuttle to/from airport. Highly recommended !

« Best Place Near SFO for Sleep & Fly »

El Rancho Inn has the best sleep & fly program in the SFO area; as well as large, comfortable rooms, a nice bar and well stocked complimentary serve-yourself breakfast. Quick check-in and out, prompt airport pick-up and car return.

    4
« Comfortable and friendly hotel »

We were transiting San Francisco and were looking for a comfortable and conveniently located hotel around the SFO airport. Best Western El Rancho met all our expectations and the front office staff were friendly and very helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to our friends.

    3
« Convenient near airport but not good breakfast »

We stayed at the hotel just for one night (late flight arrival before to go to Napa Valley). It is a huge complex with convenient parking. The room was clean but nothing special. We were very disappointed by the breakfast. It was not very good...

    4
« Good hotel out of central San Francisco »

I have stayed here several times and the service and quality, although not consistent, has been worth the stay. The rooms are very different even when booking the same class. This past stay had the smallest bathroom I think I've ever had at a Best Western. The room was clean and staff is friendly. Breakfast is either a Continental snack or a full hot breakfast which is an added cost. They provide a shuttle to the airport and offer park/stay/fly. The hotel is close to public transportation to central San Francisco and there are several good restaurants close by. Worth a stay for a less expensive alternative to staying in the city proper.

    4
    « SFO »

Very close to airport and car rental return, place needs some TLC, would have liked to stay another day, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Free breakfast was OK should have been better. Parking was a little tight but construction / renovation was going on.

    5
« one night and park and fly »

My accommodations, services and the staff at the hotel could not have been better or easier. It was great to have a restaurant on-site. The room was quiet, clean, roomy and comfortable. I did not expect an early breakfast to have so much variety available. I felt confident with the conveniences of the transport to the airport and the organized paperwork for leaving my car.

    « A+ Stay, Would Definitely Recommend »

Stayed one night to take advantage of park and fly, rooms were great and so was the value for being able to park for 2 weeks. Staff was friendly and experience was super easy! Hotel is in great proximity to airport with several options for dining as well as a nice hotel restaurant/bar. The park and fly option was the main reason we stayed at this hotel, and they staff made it very easy to park our vehicle for an extended period of time and showed up right on time to get us to the airport and to pick us up upon our return. I would definitely stay here again!

    5
« Staying before a flight out of SFO »

Best place to stay if you have a morning flight out of SFO. Rooms, service and proximity to SFO make it a no brainier. The morning breakfast take away is a winner. It is the only place we stay before going home when visiting San Francisco.

    3
« Do not use Trickadvisor (Tripadvisor) if you wish to use the hotels advertisement of 14 days of free parking. »

Terrible experience if you think that by booking your room through Trickadvisor (Tripadvisor) you will get the 14 days of free parking you will not. We had to pay $50.00 extra. Very disappointed with this web site.

    « Beat Expecations »

Read several bad reviews, but our experience was great.. We were greeted on arrival by friendly staff, they had great advice on things to do in the area or just make use of the gym, great pool & hot tub... location to airport was a plus as we had an early flight out the next day .. they offered the airport shuttle if we wanted to return our rental early... The only small downfall was the construction, they are putting in an elevator.. which in the end will be a big plus for them, but right now a little inconvenient... I would for sure use this hotel again when in San Fran

    3
    « Not bad »

This hotel was pretty good. Clean and comfortable, though it is a bit noisy. They fail to mention that there is an active train track behind the hotel. It took leaving the air conditioning on all night to drown out the noise. It looks a bit dingy on the outside but I thought it was good for a Best Western. Very close to the airport. Only a 10 minute drive

    5
« Clean Place, Friendly Staff »

Landed at SFO and wanted a place to spend the night. This place is clean and well-kept. It has a restaurant and bar. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful about travel and sightseeing suggestions. Would stay there again.

    4
    « Easy and convient »

This hotel is perfect to park and fly. The shuttle picks up at each room. upon returning the shuttle has our car keys waiting. If we stay the night our car is parked in front of our room and we are given room keys. No need check in. Also nice restaurants and Easy departure snack for those on the go.

    4
« Went the extra step »

Clean, newish and an elevator under construction. Train noise, but not that bad or into the whole night. Choice of pillows, Quiet HVAC. Took a glass of wine to my room, limited single glass selections. They had a complimentary take away breakfast option for those leaving bbefore4:30 am. I told the gentleman I was catching the 4 am shuttle and wouldn't have a chance to hike over to the restaurant to get it. .He fixed me up then and there with a brioche, apple and a banana--perfect and much appreciated. The coffee pot had no carafe. Hiked back to the front desk (line was always busy) and the gentleman said that there WAS no carafe and that the coffee package had a little drawer included that was to slide in under the water container. The coffee was stowed so that the directions were on the back of the package and no clue on the front as to the directions. It is a big complex and a good walk from the back to the front. It added to my 10,000 steps for the day.

    « A good value for parking/flight, quick & comfortable »

I've been stay/parking at the El Rancho for almost 25 years now. I can say with certainty that things have continued to improve over the years. Our room was comfortable, clean and the staff smiling and helpful on arrival and departure. An unexpected plus, was that our car was waiting for us in the hotel parking area, and we didn't have to be driven to another parking lot, which saved us time on our journey back home.

    5
    « What a great place! »

Stayed here for working at SFO recently and was very impressed with the room, the property and staff. Felt more like a resort than a hotel, great job in landscaping and decor of property. Although they only advertise the morning complementary departure snack it is plenty enough to be a breakfast, variety of muffins hard boiled eggs, bagels, variety of flavored egg biscuits, juice coffee...great! Room was great too, clean well decorated, and loved the southwest feel. Close to SFO with free shuttle. We had no problem getting our mail from our home office, and they called us every time a package came in to alert us. Even when we checked in and did not realize our company sent supplies ahead they knew it came in for us and pulled it upon check in for us. I think for the price in the area this is not only the best, but the best value.

« An affordable, clean motel close to San Francisco Airport(SFO)!! »

When there is a conference to attend in San Francisco, usually the hotels in downtown are fully booked, because of the small downtown and limited rooms. But then, it's good to rent a car at the San Francisco Airport and stay at South San Francisco or Millbrae close to the Airport. I love The Best Western El Rancho in Millbrae the most for this purpose, which is an affordable, clean, welcoming, relaxing motel. It's good to stay here to get over the jet lag. It's easy to drive in the Bay Area.

« Beware of sending packages »

I got a package delivered from Amazon the same day I was leaving the hotel. I specifically told 3 different employees in the reception that I was going to receive a package and that I was going to come back for it in 2 days (as I was leaving for yosemite and coming back to SF). My trip was delayed so I came back the same day when I got notification of delivery, to pick up the package. Surprise... no one knew about the package, no one received the package and so it was lost. After 30 minutes a guy went to check somewhere else and came back with my opened package... He said that since they couldn't read the name they opened it, even when my name was very clear in the Amazon box. This seems fishy to me. The lady in the reception was very kind and helpful, but I left with a bad feeling about the whole ordeal...

    « Quick Stop »

Great place, the El Rancho, and a great idea: You can leave your car there while you fly away elsewhere. The room rate is higher for this service and if you leave your car for more than 14 days, the daily parking fee is $7.00. Both are worth it. We stayed in 133. It was quiet enough. One or two little things weren't just right and I'm sure that if I'd reported them when I left, they'd have been fixed right away. I reported them later on a survey. El Rancho takes people to SFO every half hour with two more stops on the way. Very convenient. Also, El Rancho offers a discount if you want to stay the night on your return.

    5
    « Highly Recommended »

Our friend recommended this hotel as she always uses your park and fly service. She was right, you are spot on! The entire property was clean, safe and had everything we needed. We had dinner and drinks at the restaurant/bar facility, went to bed, parked our car for 3 weeks and traveled throughout the UK to come home to a shuttle at the airport which took us directly to the hotel, to our car and home again. Very enjoyable experience. Will do this again!

    4
« Good place to leave your car and travel »

We often stay here when traveling out of SFO. You can leave your car for up to 14 days. It is clean and convenient and the staff has the sleep and fly down pat. I've been staying here for over 30 years when we travel.

    4
« Brief stay in Millbrae »

The Best Western El Rancho in Millbrae, California is an accessible, affordable, clean and welcoming motel. I was there because it was a convenient place to arrive, near SFO, before several days in meetings nearby. I was very pleased with the motel and its staff certainly was welcoming and helpful.

    5
« Very efficient park and fly »

El Rancho has figured out all of the intricacies of making park and fly work without a single hitch. Rooms comfortable and clean; excellent staff; OK breakfast. Good value for SFO location. We stay here all of the time we fly out of SFO, usually 3-4 times a year. Have tried other hotels, but this one continues to out do all of the others.

    4
    « Gem near SFO »

Selected this hotel because near to airport. We were very happy. We had been traveling in California for 2 weeks and we stayed here the last night. We dropped off our rental car at the airport and they picked us up. The next day their shuttle picked us up at our room to take us back to the airport. Very nice as we were getting tired of slepping our bags around. It was a relaxing place to stay. Nice pool and area to sit. Gardens added to the ambience. Nice restaurant on site. We had a crappy waiter but the other waiters looked like they were doing a good job. They also offered a departure snack starting 4:30AM. This was nice because so early and it was great. More than a snack. Better than the breakfast buffets that other restaurants offer you.

    4
    « Predictable - in a very good way »

Travel can be unpredictable and stressful - bad lodging, bad food, rude cabbies, flight delays/cancellations and so on. That's why it's so good to get your trip started off right, and this hotel does just that. We stay at El Rancho at least twice a year. We have never had a bad experience there. The rooms are not going to wow you and the restaurant is not going to thrill your taste buds, but both are just fine. This continues to be a very well run operation with very reliable transportation to/from the airport and car storage. You know your car is in good hands. You know you are in good hands. A great value for the money.

    3
    « Clean but........ »

Stayed here a few times, beds are uncomfortable, finding ice is an adventure. It's older but it's clean. Why stay here then? (Park and fly) it's cheap and has shuttle to and from the airport. Has great restaurant and bar. They have computer in lobby to check in for flights.

« A nice hotel for family vacation »

In general, this is a very nice hotel for leisure travel or family vacation. The room we booked was very clean and bedding was clean and comfortable. For 2 days we had breakfast at the restaurant, and the food was nicely prepared. Staff were friendly and service was good. The hotel is located at the heart of the city where shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Bart station is close by to get you to SF.

    4
« We will be back! »

This was the third time we used this hotel for Sleep N Fly. We cannot afford not to stay here since they keep our car for up to 14 days through the cost of a night stay with shuttle service to and from SFO. We will definitely be back with this excellent service! Clean, efficient, friendly and affordable.

    4
« Great hotel and super service close to airport »

Great hotel, very close to airport. I was highly impressed that they had breakfast extra early (starting at 4:30am) for the early am flights. Our check in clerk was great and offered shuttle service. We opted to just turn in rental the am of our flight and that was fine. Hotel is an older one, but well maintained. Comfy beds and bedding /towels of good quality. Small refrigerator and nice coffee/tea maker. One caveat...we had a shower only and the bathroom had no fan. There was a nice sized window that opened complete with a louvered shade and screen, but this is only bath ventilation. The shower had a corner seat..and my bf discovered black mold growing under this....so if you are sensitive to mold/mildew or have other respiratory issues, I would recommend that you check on a room with a tub or without this seat in shower.

    4
    « Handy park-and-fly experience for SFO »

I stay here the night before leaving on an early flight from SFO. The rooms are comfortable, there are decent restaurants nearby, and the airport shuttle service is good (every 30 minutes, and on -time). They also serve a good breakfast (starting at 5 or 5:30 AM). Shuttle time to SFO is less than 15 minutes, and the drivers are very helpful. The hotel is well-run and the charge for extra days of parking ($7.00 if you don't book a park-fly package) are reasonable.

    5
    « Clean and Convenient »

We stayed at this hotel since it was close to the San Francisco airport. The rooms were very clean, the bed and linens were comfortable and the service was outstanding. The bathrooms are a little dated, but the management has done a good job keeping them fresh.

    4
« A very good hotel that is close to the airport. »

My wife and I have been staying at this hotel for over 20 years. Love it's location since it is so close to the airport. You are just minutes from downtown San Francisco. The prices are much more reasonable than the hotels in San Francisco. We have usually stayed in the handicap accessible rooms and they are quite comfortable. The hotel also has shuttles to the airport. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

    4
« Good choice for SFO stay. »

Surprisingly nice motel ? I usually don't expect as much from the Best Western name. Looks newly renovated. Clean and well appointed. Super comfy bed with a nice collection of pillows. There was an apartment-sized fridge in the room which made it easy to stock some breakfast items to inhale before a 4am trip to the airport. The TV wasn't the best ? kind of wavy reception for HBO. Generous lighting which is much appreciated. It happened to be incredibly cold and windy and we had to stuff a towel under the door to keep the room warm. Bring ear plugs. Planes, trains and auto mobiles will keep you awake all night not to mention the rattling door due to the wind. I had earplugs so slept like a stone! We loved being able to pull our car up just outside the room - especially with the brisk weather.

    4
« Better than Expected One Night Stay »

Needed a place close to the airport but this was nicer than we expected for the price. Parking lot was well lit and busy with people coming and going. This is an old style motor inn. No elevator but it is under construction. We stayed on the backside main floor so quite a hike but quiet. Grounds were well cared for, big redwoods, and pretty pool. Rooms were updated decor, crown molding, but closet was missing a door. Free quicky breakfast was juice, fruit, and egg bake muffins. Staff advised us where to gas up rental car before returning. Excellent directions to the airport.

    4
« Park and fly stay »

This is an older hotel that has been updated and is close to the SFO airport. We chose the hotel based on positive reviews and the park and fly feature. We left the car for three weeks and then stayed one night on our return. Parking was included in the room for the first two weeks and then there was a nominal charge for the third week, overall very reasonable. Our room was small but well appointed, and the bed was very, very comfortable. The bathroom was also small, with a shower that looked dated but that was very efficient. We had a late arrival flight but got to have dinner in the restaurant that was very good. We slept in the next day and missed the complementary breakfast but enjoyed our regular breakfast later that morning. There is an airport shuttle that runs regularly, and the drivers were friendly and helpful. We would stay here again, particularly given the location near the airport.

    3
« Did their best to update an old hotel. »

I was disappointed to find out that this was an outside entry hotel. Well updated, but still showed its age. What really burned me is that the airport shuttle runs only every 30 minutes. I must have just missed one, and I watched 5 Marriott and many multiple of other hotel busses come and go waiting for the El Rancho bus. Staff was efficient and friendly.

« Clean, close to airport, restaurant was very good »

The room was a bit small but had everything we needed. Decorated very nicely, and the bed was great. The shuttle was on time both ways to the airport, and the restaurant on the premises was very, very good. Also, the breakfast included in the price was fantastic, not your typical continental breakfast. I would highly recommend trying them out. Shop on line for the best price deals. Also, our car was safe and sound upon our return. They dropped us off right next to it!

    4
« Clean and Well Maintained »

This establishment has been around for a while -- I mean that in a good way. The facilities have been maintained properly and it shows. My room was appropriately furnished; there was sufficient space to work and the wifi was free. The place was spotless. (Housekeeping deserves a pat on the back.) The climate controls worked well and the system ran quietly . The bathroom plumbing was in good order. The appearance of the tub and tile work suggests that the work was done by a craftsman instead of by a drifter. The on-site restaurant is decent and the prices reasonable. I'll be staying here again.

    4
« Quiet hotel near airport »

Hotel in quiet neighborhood just minutes from SF airport. Offered commuter parking if needed. Breakfast consisted of fresh bakery goods and fresh fruit which I enjoyed. Close to shopping, restaurants, and plenty of gas stations to fill up before returning your rental car.

    4
    « Pleasant and Restful »

Other than a bit of fray on the carpet and the door sticking, the room was super clean; just like I like it. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. I took advantage of the "sleep-park-and fly" option. Even as a walk in, I only had the two minor aforementioned problems with the room, but with the park and fly option, make sure you don't keep any valuables in your car. I didn't, but upon my return there was evidence that someone had rifled through the compartments in my vehicle. BTW: the property is a tad pricey, but because it is in proximity with SFO, it is to be expected.

« Excellent SFO Base Camp »

We stayed here on April 15, 2016 during a short airport layover. We stayed in a second floor suite toward the rear of the facility that was much larger and nicer than the standard room we expected, with separate kitchenette facilities and a living room. The grounds were lovely, the entire facility was very clean and well maintained, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The free breakfast buffet was basic, but fresh and adequate, with more complete dining available in the restaurant on site. Some reviews had complained about the train noise, but we only noticed the train before 10:00pm and after 9:00am, and we found it to be a very quiet and comfortable stay, even void of the sounds one would expect from nearby SFO. The motel's airport shuttle service was convenient, efficient and punctual, providing door-to-door service every 30 minutes. Highly recommended as a more affordable alternative to many of the other motels around the airport.

    « Reliable »

We have stayed here a few times when we fly out of SFO. They are only 5 minutes from airport. Easy check-in. The rooms are clean and comfortable. What we really like is when we return from a long trip, the shuttle picks us up within 20 minutes. Drops us right to our room with our hotel key and car key. They are professional and reliable.

« Close to SFA, good location »

We did stay at the El Rancho Inn for several times and again during our recent stay. Price-performance ratio is quite good. Staff is friendly and attentive. We changed our room this time, due to some reasons and got fully supported by front desk. Hotel offers free continental breakfast and free wifi in the rooms. So far rooms have been clean, no complaints about that. They provide a free pick-up service from/ to SFA. Therefore it is a good starting point for your travel/ leaving point to go home. There is a BART station close to the El Rancho, which we use normally to head into the city. El Rancho Inn can be recommended definetely. We would come back!

    « Nice Place »

This is a very well-organized motel that offers park-and-fly options for travelers flying out of SFO. I appreciated their "departure snack" which starts at 4:30 am, and accommodates those catching early flights.

    5
« Great place to stay the night before a flight out of SFO »

This was our second stay at the Best Western Plus El Rancho Inn. Both times, the staff has been courteous and helpful, the room clean, the bed comfortable, the breakfast good, and the shuttle on time. We stayed two nights this time. Even though we arrived before our scheduled check-in time, our room was ready. The hotel is within walking distance from the BART station. It's about a mile from the station. The street is well lit and we didn't have any issues with anyone bothering us. We'll stay here again when we're leaving San Francisco. It's convenient, clean, a good value, and the shuttle service is wonderful

« Best Place to Stay for Sleep & Fly. »

When checked in in the evening Pleasent Warm Welcoming greetings from the front desk members. Checkin was straight smooth and in less than the anticipated time. I was given upgrade with out my knowledge as One of the Front desk member remembered my address and pointed he stayed at this hotel. Very Clean room, wi fi service brilliant, wakeup call up to the time, car key dropping off information well explained, Was taken away by the breakfast in the morning, the hot egg and mushroom pastry and the complimentry Breakfast well up tu BW plus calibre. Airport shuttle staff and service prompt as well as on time for departure and arrival service. Also I noted your car in not parked in some remote place but in the hotel compound special allocated place. I would definitely be staying and recomend to stay here for sleep & fly option that is available at this place.

    « Well-run motel with reliable service »

This property is a good value, with competent, friendly staff and good service. I stay here when I have an early morning flight out of SFO and I leave my car with them, rather than at the airport. Rates are reasonable and it is a clean and comfortable place to stay.

    5
« Best place to stay when flying from SF »

They do everything right! Well organized and very friendly with good food and bar. Fast and frequent shuttle service. I've stayed at many others in the area and although it.s not the fanciest it is the best, especially for Park and Fly.

« Close to SFO Airport »

I chose the hotel because I needed to be close to the airport for an early departure, and because have had great experiences at Best Western hotels, and was not disappointed on this occasion either. The room was clean and very tidy, and the bed is simply outstanding. I have stayed in a number of Best Westerns in California, and each time I have a great night's sleep. I would stay here again, and the airport is close by, but you don't get the noise from the aircraft, well, let me say I slept well.

    5
    « Pleasantly surprised »

This hotel received good reviews from fellow travelers, and that's why I chose it. There are an excess of hotels in the area we traveled to, but I specifically chose this one due to the reviews. My review will join the ranks of the others! The hotel was clean, the beds were comfortable, it was quiet, although situated on a heavily traveled street. The hotel is relatively close to San Francisco International Airport, but even so, there was no airplane noise from landing and takeoffs. The room we had was equipped with 2 queen beds, and one of the beds was in a little side room with an adjoining door, for privacy. I was very impressed with this place and would definitely use it again if I needed to travel to this area.

    4
    « Very Good »

The room appeared to be newly renovated. The sink counter is granite, I believe, and all the accessories needed were there. I can't give it 5 stars due to the mixup in our reservations as was annotated in problem comments. Always enjoy the ride to and from the airport as a plus. Restaurant food and service was top notch. Thank you.

« Great room for the value. Can be noisy. »

This is our second time here. The good: Great beds and pillows Breakfast included starting at 4:30am (very convenient for early flights!) Easy parking Helpful staff Very close to the airport The not so great: Close to a train line, and some times trains blow the horn. But I guess some people may be bother a little.

    4
« Good stay near SFO »

The room was clean and comfortable. The staff helpful. The on-site restaurant was good for both dinner and the included breakfast (simple but more than adequate to meet your needs). It's called a breakfast snack as it is self-serve and limited, but plenty of choices really. I paid around $150 (prepaid including tax) - not bad for SFO area on a weeknight.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

Superb Room, excellent restaurant much better than 2 expensive French restaurants we dined at while in San Francisco. Shuttle service precluded the need for a rental car. Great amenities, great room. If you are ever in the San Francisco area this is the hotel to stay at.

    5
« Wonderful place to stay »

There are so many good things to say about this location. The staff is very helpful and go out of their way to please. Liked the location because it was close to the light rail hub and we planned to use it to go into San Francisco but turned out they can arrange city and wine tours, and others and the bus picks you up at the hotel! Nice clean rooms and everything is well maintained.

    5
    « the BEST.... »

Only Hotel we ever stay when we need a park & fly. Always the best staff. Great rooms, great breakfast before we fly and it's great to come back to if we get in late after we have had a late flight. We would not stay any where but here.

« Our El Rancho stay »

We've stayed at the El Rancho for many years. It's an older motel but has been kept up to date. We had my parents 50th anniversary party here in 1980. We've never had a bad stay and will always make El Rancho our first choice, if we have to choose, when coming to the Bay Area.

    5
    « Just right »

Fast, clean, efficient. The parking feature for the one night stay was paramount, and it was perfect. The only thing is, I never eat the "continental" breakfast due to the fairly unhealthy options-I prefer organic and some gluten-free options.

    4
    « Surprisingly Great »

This motel was much better than I thought. The beds are comfortable, there are quite a few toiletries available, and the employees are friendly. Breakfast is also included, which was decent. However, there were no bottled water or any microwaves in the room. This turned out to be a little annoying since we had a ton of food we had to microwave. There was not an elevator (it's set to operate soon.) Finally, some of the rooms are very close to the train tracks and it gets really loud once in a while. Overall, this was a great hotel and I would stay here again.

    4
« Really convenient to the airport. »

Fine hotel, and great for getting the an early morning flight at the airport. We returned our rental car, then took uber to the hotel, and got ourselves scheduled for early shuttle to the airport. Very convenient, and beds very comfortable. Quite pleased by it.

    4
    « Very comfortable stay »

We needed a motel which was not too far from the international airport, and El Rancho not only fitted the bill, but was a nice suprise. Close by food outlets, cafes etc, a quiet, very clean room with a comfortable bed, and efficient pleasant staff, with an excellent airport shuttle service at 4.00am in the morning. The motel has a restaurant and a swimming pool, which we did not use, but looked inviting.

    4
« Good location, good deal »

And breakfast opens early, 430. I had a room back by the railroad tracks and it was soundproofed very well. I never noticed the trains once I close the door. I will definitely stay again as this place is seriously convenient.

    3
    « Not good »

It was convenient but I would not stay again. It was noisey and worn looking. Staff was good and they tried to be nice. Resturant offered good food and staff was good. We have stayed at many BW+ hotels and this one is bottom of list

    2
« Terror Room on El Camino Real Street »

This is the worst Best Western Plus room we have ever unfortunately spent the night in. I should first say that we have stayed here before. The location to the airport, the free shuttle, and the relatively safe looking area around it are all pluses. I do however plan to put this one on the bottom of the list on our next trip out. There are other hotels located nearby that I will try first. We checked in late in the evening rather than how we usually do, on the Internet a day or two before to get a better price. I was hoping that things were upgraded when I was informed of the higher price of the room but reality would soon put an end to that thought. I was shown on the map where the room was and anticipated no problems finding it. We got to the back of the large complex and were stopped by a high plastic barrier. Our room number was not to be found and neither was parking. They are installing an elevator on the building and the access and the view to the far end of the building is blocked on the first and second floor as well as the parking lot. We found the secret way around the sight obstructing barriers and eventually found our room, second floor, lots of bags, more tired than before. Ah, the room, it looks okay. Close the drapes, hop in bed and relax? No. The drapes won't close. Picture an old guy balancing on the air conditioner on one foot trying to reattach the drapes to missing pins. I ended up rigging it shut without breaking my neck but good luck to the next time someone wants it opened. Enough of this, it is getting late. What time is it? The clock had missing LEDs, I could barely make out the time. OK calm down, relax a little, turn on the TV and fall asleep. The remote looks OK, why won't the TV go on. Did it have anything to do with nothing lighting up when we first got into the room? That lamp nearby still does not turn on. No lamp, no TV, no frig, better call the front desk. Minutes seem to go by very slowly when you are tired and waiting for someone to come and fix something that should have been working to begin with. We were just about to call again and cancel the service call when a knock was heard on the door. A very nice man had come to rescue us. Very nice, but knew nothing about electricity. It was obvious there was a short in the outlet from the sparks coming out every time he plugged in and unplugged the power strip. Enough, thanks for trying, I just want to get some sleep, early flight, thanks so much for trying. Ah, peace and quiet. What's that? It sounds like a train whistle. It is and it sounds like it is passing right on the other side of the tall fence I saw just past the end of this building. It was only the first of many that went by. We were lulled to sleep and had a bunch free wake up calls early in the morning. They must have been carrying passengers so they went by quick enough but still let you knew they were passing from the sound of the train whistle blowing. Is it morning already? I'll take this list of stuff down to the office so that the next guests to the room do not have the same problems. At least if the TV works, they can block out the noise from the construction and trains. Maybe I will stop in at the free continental breakfast while I am down there. What's that ahead of me? One of the towels just fell off that cart. Oh good, the worker sees it and picks it up. Is he/she folding it back up and putting it on the pile of clean towels? Yes he/she is. Hmm? There must be a 5 second rule on bath towels too. I think I will forget the breakfast here and go across the street to McDonalds instead. I did give the list to one of the gals behind the counter. I was very nice about it, did not even mention compensation for the lack of all services, I was just glad she did not suggest a free meal on them. But wouldn't you know it, the one I dealt with looked like she already had a bad day going. I got no sorry about that, but did receive a stoned faced thank you. This place reminds me of a transient motel. It's OK for one night going to and from the airport but I would not recommend it for any longer stay. There are better hotels nearby for the same price or less.

« Very helpful and courteous staff »

Enjoyed my one night stay and would return on future trips. Best Western provided free airport shuttle, free Wifi, and a free continental breakfast. The staff was super helpful and courteous. The only drawback could be the sound of the Bart could be heard from my room, but did not bother me.

    5
« Excellent park and fly property »

I am almost afraid to say how much we love this property! If the word gets out it will be hard to make reservations. They do an awesome job of hotel, airport shuttle, breakfast, park and fly options. We use them every time we fly from SFO!

  • 4
« Most convenient motel to SFO »

If you are traveling to/from SFO, and need a one night stop over, this is a very good choice. They will keep you car while away (for a week or more), and provide you with shuttle service to the airport. We have used this service several times with great results. This motel is family owned (60+ years), and they have continually maintained and upgraded the rooms. The is a decent restaurant on site, which is handy.

    5
    « Convenient for travel »

The El Rancho is excellent for those who need to leave a car while traveling. We also stay at this property if we are just visiting in the Bay Area. The van picks up passengers frequently at the SFO. A breakfast is served for those leaving too learly for the dining room service. It is excellent.

    5
    « Great Park-n-fly hotel »

We stay at the El Rancho every time we fly out of SFO. The shuttle is very convenient and the parking is great. We have always been happy with the light breakfast snack and the shuttle timing. We have stayed before our early morning flight or on the return flight if we get in late.

    3
« close to the airport and people are nice but photo is misleading »

People at the front desk are very nice and our room was clean enough, but this is a traditional/old two-story motel. Reading others' reviews and glancing at the photo gave me the idea it was a different property. It is very close to SFO, though.

    4
    « Reliable and Convenient »

Still is a great bargain for Sleep and Fly! Pleasant staff in Reception and Breakfast! Rooms in back are quiet and we requested first floor since our luggage was heavy and they still do not have elevators.

    5
    « Bill O'Reilly/Dennis Miller Tour »

Really enjoyed staying at the El Rancho. It was raining way harder than it does in Oregon and we didn't have to go far for dinner; Terrace Cafe was great! Also fun being at a hotel in a city of my younger years. The schools in which I worked often held their luncheons there. Park 'n Fly was the best ever--only wish they'd take us to San Jose rather than SFO because we were delayed on both ends of the trip by SFO fog!

    5
    « Great »

This hotel is great, has a good restaurant and bar on the property, people are friendly, rooms clean, shuttle service to airport all that you need in one place. It is also within walking distance to other businesses and restaurants which is an added value

    4
« great value for stay, park, fly »

The cost was $100 less than nearest competitor for 14 days of parking plus overnight stay. 45 minute wait for shuttle when we returned was a little long, but driver was courteous and helpful. Definitely will consider staying here again.

    3
« Not an elevating experience »

Attractive grounds. Terrace cafe nice setting BUT.... 500 building had no elevator. ... only good for a workout when shleping luggage and Is close to trains.... only good if u enjoy train whistle at 11:30pm.

« Good base for travelling. »

We stayed here for four nights as accom in SF when researched was very expensive. Reasonably priced and brekkie everyday. Rooms clean and well kept we were very happy with our room, ground floor and no noise only the odd person leaving in the morning. No train noise or planes. Coffee machine, mini fridge all good. After spending a week in a budget noisy motel in LA this was luxury for us. Takes about 20 mins to walk to BART station and then train to Powell Street is 30 mins. All very easy to catch. Breezier was good and enough for us each day, if Yu absolutely neeedddddd or must have a huge hot meal then you can pay for it in the restaurant area, but truthfully I don't understand why peeps would with the amount of food supplied at brekkie.

« Convenient location near SFO »

This Best Western has an excellent location just South of SFO airport, and you will pay for it - about $200. a night during the weekdays. The decor is a bit dated, but rooms are extremely clean. The breakfast is from 0430 AM to 0930 AM, and this being SF, has excellent bread and good coffee. Its restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.

    5
    « Safe travels »

This hotel is excellent and offers a a safe place to leave your car while you are gone. In addition the rooms and service are excellent. On arrival our car was taken care of , the room was very nice with all one would need. the restaurant menu was excellent with great choices. The bar was good as well and so was the morning breakfast. We were celebrating our anniversary with a trip to Hawaii. It was great to have our car right by our room as we returned.

« Best Western PLUS El Rancho Inn, Millbrae, CALIFORNIAWhat's this? »

Excellent service and rooms were very clean with very comfortable beds. The breakfast was very good with lots of choices. Would highly recommend this hotel to my family and friends. Would consider staying here again if our travels take us to this location.

« Best Park and Ride around »

This place is awesome......looking for a great/clean place to stay at. This is it! When traveling abroad look no further than this place to park your car when traveling and spend the night there before or after you trip. Great location close to SFO airport. Highly recommend this place. We stay here everytime we go on a vacation departing SFO!

    4
    « Cool Place »

My stay at the El Rancho Inn went well. The place was built in 1949, and has been modernized, but has kept the charm of the original design. The room was fairly spacious, and the bathroom had a skylight, which helped to light up the whole room area when the bathroom door was open. It was a comfortable room.

    2
« Convenient for the airport and cheap »

Room was smelling of heavy duty airfreshner? good job I was too tired to bother. The restaurant was decent and burger tasty. Helpful man at the desk. Under no illusions - despite what the promo says this is an airport travel lodge and well used.

    5
« Best of the Best »

Best of the Best Westerns has aged well. Good bedding. AC. Comfortable surroundings. Restaurant is good but too many other good places in the area to compete with. Flat screen. WiFi free. Complementary breakfast is better than most

    4
    « Convenient location with a twist »

Great property conveniently located by the airport. My room was located close to the train yard ; with trains running at night it took some adjustment. But not an overall inconvenience when considering the price value model.

    4
« Excellent park and fly option »

They have the Park and Fly logistics down to a science. I've used them many times and shuttle service is reliable. Decent room service and on-site restaurant; good Chinese restaurant next door; other nearby amenities (Trader Joe's, etc) a few blocks away. My one complaint is that rooms reek of artificial scent, presumably from cleaning products.

    3
    « Nice Rooms »

Pros: Decent rooms. Parking near your room. Great park and fly package allows parking for up to 14 days included. Free breakfast. Easy airport shuttle. Cons: 1) Rude shuttle driver that didn't explain the process of picking up the car, checking in, etc and treated us poorly. Also blamed that the hotel should've already had our car by our room. Condescending and unhelpful. 2) Male front desk associate with long hair upon check in didn't tell us anything about Wi-Fi password, breakfast details, restaurant hours, etc. Called from room to ask these questions, placed on hold and no one returned to phone, so we had to walk back to the front desk after having traveled for over 20 hours. 3) Channel button on remote doesn't work from being worn out. Cooling/heating unit has "repair" symbol on it so that was inoperable. 4) Problem with pressure from bathroom vent and front door so loud whistling noise by door is CONSTANT and loud. 5) Can hear next door neighbor pee in the middle of the night...thin walls. 6) No power outlets near beds. First time trying a Best Western and will be sticking with the consistency of Marriotts from now on (Fairfield Inn, Courtyard, Residence Inn, etc).

« Great value and service »

We stay here the night before our trip their service was outstanding from check in to the ride to the airport. When we came back into town the shuttle picked us right up and delivered to our car. The evening shuttle employee was very helpful and professional

The menu was appealing and food was fresh and quit good. The wait staff friendly and food was delivered fast and hot and the waiter was attentive .

    4
« Handy to SFO airport »

This is an older facility, but has been kept up pretty well. It is handy to SFO airport. It has free parking, but I came in about 10:30 PM and space was very limited. There were trains that could be heard on my return stay; they were early in the evening so they did not bother me.

    5
« Park and Fly option can't be beat »

Whenever we fly out of SFO we stage at the El Rancho - have for 30 years. The room cost for this program is more than a regular stay, but if your trip is more than a few days, it becomes quite the money saver to leave your car with them. PLUS you don't have to negotiate driving at the SFO site! The rooms are great. This is a wonderful old place that has been around since at least the late 40s, when it was an elegant hacienda style restaurant and motel. They have kept it in great condition. The continental breakfast starts at like 4:30am; not the best part of the whole experience, but quite satisfactory. Getting picked up at the airport and reconnecting with your car is easy. The shuttle driver picks up your keys and delivers you right to your car; you don't even have to go into the office. All of the staff are friendly and helpful.

    4
« Park and Fly Gem »

We love this hotel for Park and Fly- we use Reverse park and fly mostly. The service and pricing are good and easy access off the freeway and to the airport is a huge plus. The Continental breakfast is a great addition for travelers leaving early for a flight.

    4
    « Good Night's rest »

El Rancho Inn was a very nice motel. We were a little concerned at first because the building we were in was near the railroad tracks, but the train stopped running around 10 pm so we got a great night of rest. Compared to other BWs we stayed in the breakfast was a little lack luster. But we didn't leave hungry any way.

    4
« Good location for early morning flight »

Nice property. Staff tremendous! Furnishings a little dated, but room clean. Food at the restaurant pretty mediocre - but certainly workable. I could have left the property - lots and lots of retail and restaurants in the surrounding area. Second floor - would have been nice to have an elevator, but short flights so lugged the suitcase up! All in all, no complaints. And a short, easy trip to the airport in the morning.

    5
« El Rancho is Fantastic »

Whenever flying out of SFO, I love staying at El Rancho. Staff are wonderful, the restaurant is five star, and the rooms are small but delightful in quality and decoration. The shuttle to the airport picks you up in front of your room (no hauling luggage to the lobby) and on return you are dropped off at the exact place you left your car and there it is. How wonderful is that!

    5
« Best Park Stay & Fly deal around »

Excellent hotel at a very reasonable price. 4 1/2 Star restaurant on premises, so no need to go out to dinner. Shuttle service to and from airport the best we've ever used. Clean vans, friendly drivers and lots of them. Rooms are very clean and bed comfortable. And they drop off right at your car upon your return. Non better in the City for Park, Stay and fly.

    4
« Clean, Friendly, Close to Airport »

Everything here was very clean...lobby, room, breakfast area. Front desk and breakfast staffers were friendly and helpful. The price was reasonable and they did have a regular shuttle to the airport. Would stay again the next time we fly out of San Francisco.

« Excellent airport park and stay »

This place was great! We parked our car for 9 days while traveling and stayed overnight on our return. You can choose to stay at the beginning or end of your trip. Free shuttle service to and from the San Francisco Airport every half hour, 24 hours a day. Nice rooms, good (better than most ) free breakfast and great service. Highly recommend.

    4
« Check in for the room STAY FOR THE FOOD! »

Stayed on night. Check in staff was laughing and cheery! Room was fine, not wow, but comfortable. Hotel's South of the border ambience is fantastic. Especially around the pool. After checking in I headed out for an early dinner at 5:30. Peeked into the restaurant (Patio?) the front had told me about. Got full dinner menu at the bar. Ended up staying there for five hours enjoying meeting nice local people and visitors. So I never left parking lot of the hotel. Bar and restaurant staff also four stars. Noon check out is great. Shirt walk to Trader Joes and many restaurants. Recommend this.

    « Beware of Rooms 326 and 327 »

I love this hotel - the location, the prices, the staff, free parking...everything...well, almost everything. We stayed in rooms 326 and 327. They were very clean and comfortable. However the water temperature in the showers could not be regulated. The water continuously oscillated from scalding hot to ice cold - back and forth. We had to dance in and out of the water to safely bathe. Yes, I notified management, and engineering offered to move us to different rooms. They said the problem could not be fixed because the rooms were so close to their restaurant that the dishwasher caused the changes in the water temps. So, beware of these two rooms when you check in. My advice is to avoid any of the rooms in that number series that are upstairs and directly behind the restaurant. One final thing. The "included full breakfast" that the hotel advertises on websites is not included. A delicious continental breakfast is included but the "full breakfast" is not. The hotel offers a full breakfast but there is an additional charge for that. P.S. The Safeway grocery store, a bit south of the hotel has delicious sushi to go, hand-made on site. It's worth a visit just to experience this fabulous "grocery store." You have to wander around inside of it to appreciate the bounty that is on display.

    4
    « Convenience, service, value »

Stayed overnight in double queen-bed room. Early check-in after unexpectedly early arrival, courteous and efficient front-desk service, easy ground-floor access to clean room equipped with free Wifi, fast airport shuttle on time and at our door (even at 4:30 am). Great location and value!

    3
« Large place, small rooms, good airport shuttle »

This BW in Millbrae is one of the closest lodgings to SFO, and that's mostly why we chose it. It's very large, with possibly 700+ rooms spread over acres. Our room was small but mostly comfortable, except for a noisy heating/ventilating unit that kept waking us up as it cycled on and off. The onsite restaurant is nice, and other eating places in the neighborhood offer diverse options. There's an onsite gym and pool.

« very good accommodations. already have reservations to return... »

this was an unplanned visit/stay. we were supposed to travel further, but i got sick and couldn't drive any further. and this was our first stay at the el rancho - a very pleasant experience. the room in one of the newly renovated sections (700 bldg) was lovely - small but very nice. the bed, coverings, pillows were heavenly - which i appreciated since we both slept for over 13 hours. we had already made reservations to stay at this hotel in may and now that we have stayed here, we are very happy and looking forward to that stay.

Great to leave our car and have an overnight accommodation before an early flight. Would like the continental breakfast to be a bit better and rates were pretty high compared to past experiences there.

    « Best Park N' Fly around »

We have stayed at the El Rancho Inn numerous times over the last 25+ years. The hotel is dated (3 star), but it is well maintained, clean, safe, and offers 24 hour airport transportation. Their Park N' Fly program is probably one of the best in the San Francisco airport area as you can park your vehicle for up to 14 days included in the price, and then only $7 per day if you go over that. We have never experienced an issue at this hotel, and we highly recommend it. If you are looking for 4 or 5 star accommodations, then I would not stay here; however, if you are looking for a great place to crash before or after a flight out of SFO, then I highly recommend the Best Western El Rancho Inn in Millbrae.

« Clean with Friendly Staff »

The decor in the lobby and our room was dated, but this was a very clean place. Thank you for that. We stayed here so we could make a quick trip to the airport in the morning, and we were able to get to the car rental return within 15 minutes with a minimum of fuss. There is a shuttle to the airport if you return your car the night before and that is helpful.

I love this hotel because it is clean the staff is friendlyand I can leave my car while on vacation. they offer a nice breakfast and a shuttle. They offered my family a suite that slept all of us with a kitchen so I did not need two rooms. I stay here whenever I travel from san Francisco and need to leave my car. I never have to worry. the shuttle is great.

« Good stay for airport »

This is a perfectly fine restaurant for an overnight stay before or after a trip. They make arrangements to park your car for the trip. The motel is a typical Best Western, fully adequate, clean and quiet. The room includes a coffee machine and free wifi. This is a very busy place because of the convenience for travelers. The TV in my room was broken, and they sent a repairman within minutes. Only after he was gone did I realize the sink was also broken - the stopper stuck in the "down" position - so I decided to just live with it. The restaurant is fine, very convenient.

    « Very good Sleep/Park/Fly program »

The rooms are spotless. We stayed there the night before our flight and the night when we returned. One room was in the newer section and quite small. The other was considerably larger. The service was excellent and the lobby includes a computer with dedicated printer for printing boarding passes. The Park and Fly process was also excellent. When we arrived back at the hotel after our trip, our car was parked right outside our room. The shuttle was prompt and the driver courteous. There is a good selection of items for the complimentary breakfast and we also ate one dinner in the nice restaurant.

« Good Hotel for Expensive SFO »

This is my second visit to this hotel. My flight was cancelled and I needed an overnight stay near SFO. The neighbourhood is not exactly upscale but the property itself is nicely kept, has a restaurant and pool on the grounds and is about 2 miles from SFO with easy access if you are driving. The hotel has an airport shutttle service but I had a rental car so did not use. The front desk staff was very professional and attentive and Vickie gave me a junior suite at a rate about half that of hotels a bit closer. It was a lovely room, very spacious and quiet in spite of the fact there are trains passing every 5 minutes that insist on blowing the horn. I will definitely consider this hotel and this suite for a future visit to SF area even if not flying.

« The perfect place to stay near the S.F. Airport! »

The Best Western El Rancho Inn, Milbrae, CA is the perfect place to stay. Whether you're planning on flying in/out of S.F. Int'l Airport, on a local vacation or business trip, this is the perfect place to stay. Staff is friendly, accommodating and accessible 24/7. Rooms are conveniently located near a great restaurant and bar. There is also a nice pool and lovely garden with a fountain. Because of frequency of use by travelers, it always feels safe coming and going, even at night. The staff always goes above and beyond in providing outstanding service. I have stayed at this hotel for decades on both personal travel and frequent business trips. I highly recommend them for their outstanding service and facilities.

    « Great hotel to do sleep/park/flu »

I have stayed at this hotel many times when I am flying out of the San Francisco airport and need a hotel room for one or two nights and want to leave my car at the hotel while I am traveling. the rooms are nice and clean, the parking option is very easy to use, and the shuttle service to airport is very good. Oh, and their hamburgers with French fries at the restaurant are real good too.

    « fantastic service »

Will have to say that this stay is in my top 3 best hotel experiences. The service from the shuttle driver to the end was fantastic. You felt welcomed and they actually cared. We stayed so we could take an early flight the next day at 5:30 and they had no problem driving us over at 3:30.. We appreciated it

    « Great Stay »

Enjoyed the times I stayed here both as one night stay for airport convenience and when I stay over and leave my car while I am on a trip. Staff is very helpful and pleasant. Great breakfast before early morning flights. Never stay any where else.

« Good Location for a couple of days near SFO »

Free shuttle from the airport was good, but waited awhile. It is supposed to be every 30 mins. The pickup is on the departures level -follow signs to Hotel Shuttle stop. Reception staff very helpful. Room good, with very comfortable bed after long flight.I slept very well.. The "Terrace Cafe" has a variety of meals at a reasonable price. There are a lot of restaurants and supermarkets within 10 minutes walk-so you are not isolated. Public transport using BART into downtown is about 15 minutes walk from the hotel. Overall-a place I would stay again

« Some good, some less good »

We booked this hotel on the strength of other reviews and recommendations we read online, and were disappointed. It's expensive for a Best Western, in my opinion. However, the staff are very friendly and helpful and the breakfast and airport shuttle were nice. And the WiFi was very good. And the toiletries were fine. Our room was beside the construction area, with no stairs close and right beside the train tracks, which made for noisy, dirty, and inconvenient room location very far from the front of the hotel, from breakfast, and from pretty much everything. The hotel itself felt old, and a little run down, but still okay. If it had been half the price, I would have felt it was good value. But it was not.

« Excellent For SFO Travelers! »

My flight had got cancelled because of the East Coast storm and I needed a place to crash. I tossed around the idea of just camping out in the airport. But I was really uncomfortable and knew I wasn't going to get a good rest. So i headed over to the Best Western El Rancho through a free shuttle bus that the Airport / Hotel provides. I arrived 10 minutes later, exhausted but enthused over spending my first night in a hotel room alone...ever. I had informed them what time I had to be back to the airport in the morning and they had a shuttle waiting for me at 8am. The folks at the desk were very pleasant and professional. After getting my key, i headed over to the bar and had a salad and drink. The waitress there was also very kind and courteous. The property is a tad big, so I had to walk for a couple minutes to get to my room. Upon entering I noticed how small it was, but it wasn't that big a deal since I was alone. The heater took awhile to heat the room up, but i was so out of it that it wasn't a major concern. The room was VERY clean. Nothing out of the ordinary upon a quick inspection. I ate my dinner, watched the rest of Book of Eli before taking a bath. Got a call to my room a bit later, almost didn't answer it... glad I did. Someone had found my credit card at the bar. I quickly headed over there and thank the person who had given me the call. Next morning, took advantage of their free continental breakfast, which was pretty tasty with its assorted variety's. Few minutes later my bus was there at 8am on the dot. I got over to SFO in plenty of time for my flight. Greatly appreciate ht

« Park and stay heaven »

Best value and service for a park and stay or reverse stay at the end of your trip. I always stay here when flying out of SFO, it could not be easier! We have another trip planned in May and my wife stated that we are doing that again!! She loved the pick up service and not having to drive home after a late night return flight.

    « Convenient,safe and clean »

Great place to stay when visiting the Bay Area. Clean and well managed. We had our wedding reception here 48 years ago and stay here almost every year when we come back to the San Francisco area.Great location for your visit.

« Good place depending on your plans »

The property is undergoing renovations (1/16), so ask for a room in the already renovated area, like the 500s. Those rooms are kind of rustic, like what you'd expect further north in CA, and they're nice. There's a fridge but no safe. The towels are thirsty, not thin. I was impressed. It's a short walk to the supermarket, Trader Joe's, and a LOT of really neat restaurants. They are great about airport shuttle trips and making sure you get there on time. BUT if you want to be using Bart the metro rail to get places, find a different place. It's a mile walk to the Millbrae station, which may not sound far, but at night, it's not a good idea to do alone as a woman. So, you have to take the Airport station, which is over $4 MORE per trip, and then get the shuttle back to the hotel. I'd probably stay in a different place next time if I weren't going to use Uber or rent a car.

« Security guard resting in my room »

I stayed at this hotel 11-20-15, arriving at midnight, after 20 some hours in four different airplanes. San Francisco was cold and misting. I had made my reservation months in advance requesting a room close to the office for safety. When I arrived, I was given what was supposed to be the only room available on the main flor, a room far away, behind the pool and trash cans at the dead end of a well lighted hallway. There was no one around and no one to walk me to my room. My door key would not work. I was about to trek back to the office when the door opened. It was the Security guard with coffee in his hand. I could see the TV was on and the bed was disheleved. He said he was in there checking the noise level inside the rooms. I returned to the office, asking "What kind of an operation were they running"? They gave me $20.00 off my prepaid room, a room right upstairs, and the Security guard helped me carry my luggage. I felt vulnerable and uncomfortable and did not sleep that night. I left at 6:00 AM the next morning back to the airport. I wrote letters and was given my night free. I am still not happy. I am appalled at the lack of common sense by the employees. We have used that hotel for a Park & Fly but no more. Thousands of dollars of cars sit out there without security and women travelers do not get extra support. Stay elsewhere.

« Great step off point for early am flight »

A great value and very pleasant place to stay before and after a flight. The restaurant is also very good. i have used this property 3 other times and will continue for future trips. It is warm and inviting after a long trip.

    « Best Western Millbrae »

The hotel location and room were okay and only about a 5 minute drive to the San Francisco airport, but I was very disappointed in the shuttle service to the airport. It was very slow both for our departing and returning flights. It look well over 30 minutes to get to the airport and we had to wait for the shuttle more than 30 minutes on our return.

    5
    « Excellent Facilities »

Need a place with facilities to and from the San Francisco International AIrport (less than 5 minutes away), BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit), AMTRAK and the 101/280 Freeways? This is it! Also has park and ride services at reasonable rates. NO need to stay in the city. Restaurant and bar on site are great with terrific free breakfast services. Our favorites, Millbrae House of Pancakes and In and Out Burgers close by! Don't miss this place--it's reasonably priced, clean and a relaxing environment.

    5
    « Great value »

Ideal if you do not want to spend crazy money to stay downtown SF. The shuttle takes you to the BART and in 30 min you are downtown. The only little problem I encountered was in regulating the water in the shower: Too hot or too cold. Internet was very fast, and breakfast was available starting at 4:30am.

    5
« Good and convinient Hotel »

The hotel is very near to the airport. It gave me a very shock that there is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, very convenient to get there, it is free of charge. The room of the hotel is very clean and cosy, it made me a feeling of home. The terrace bar is very nice and cheap, you can have a nice meal there. In a word, it is a good hotel for a car traveller.

« Excellent overnight for SFO departure »

Based on a previous experience, I again spent the night at the El Rancho Inn and was very pleased. Our first floor room was spotless and comfortable with a great hot shower. Two club chairs and a lovely view of the garden added to the ambiance. The complimentary shuttle service was prompt and the driver was courteous and helpful. We avoided expensive parking lot fees and waiting in the cold for a shuttle as we were able to plan in advance the exact time of El Rancho's shuttle departure. This is my favorite way to start a trip. Not only did we save on parking but we were able to enjoy complimentary breakfast and a good night's sleep before our flight the next morning. « Our favorite park and fly. »

We have stayed at this hotel many times and always come back. The park and fly feature is worth the extra cost. The staff is very professional and friendly. The shuttle drivers are helpful and have a good sense of humor. We will continue to use this hotel when we travel.

    « Great Stay »

WE love this Best Western, we only stay here when we need a park & fly, . It has a great staff, always clean, quick pick up to and from the airport. Nice quick breakfast that you can eat there or take with to the airport.

    3
« No frills airport hotel »

The rooms are spread out over the estate, so its actually a hassle if you don't have a car and have to drag your luggage to the room. Pickup took an unusually long time, waited for 30 mins at the airport and seemed to be less regular than other hotels. Breakfast was standard, bonus that they provide it from 430am in case you have an early flight.

    5
    « Stay overnight & park upto 14 days »

I have used this option to be close to SFO and leave my car up to 14 days as a package-great rates, good facility. This was the first time I used the reverse option (park first, stay upon return). Very satisfied with both methods.

    4
« AVERAGE motel, VERY GOOD park & fly program »

El Rancho is a well-maintained group of older motel buildings, nothing too special in its accommodations. The staff I encountered were friendly and helpful. Just don't count on sleeping late in the morning; there's a good deal of noise from other guests making early departures. Their well-run park & fly program is a very good deal if you need to stay for a night before/after flying in/out of SFO; the combined cost of a one night stay and 14 days of parking compares favorably to just parking at SFO's long-term parking garage.

« Great place to stay near SFO. »

What a wonderful place to stay to drop family off at SFO for an early morning flight. That's what we did to end the holidays bay-area visit sending them home. What we needed was a safe, comfortable location were we could share some laughs, get some sleep and escape the traffic in time to get back home in northern California. Oh yeah they made their flight too!

    5
    « Stay & Park »

Always great and convenience for our trips to visit family back east. Best place to stay overnight and to be able to leave the car to get back and forth to the airport. We have been doing this for many years as we need to use the SF airport. Unfortunately, we did have a minor problem with the car parking for the very first time after many years. Was reported, but after we got home.

« Clean, convenient and a good value for an airport motel! »

I am a picky person when it comes to hotels. My one BIG must have is no "bedspreads", just a bed cover that is washed every time the room is used. The top cover on these beds was very fluffy and comfy, down-like, but not so sure it is cleaned with each guest. If so, then the place is A+++++ for the price. The room was clean, quiet, outside entry, and very adequate in every way. The airport shuttle was on time and included in the price of the stay. We ate at the hotel restaurant, and it was surprisingly tasty and reasonably priced. The morning complementary "snack" was pretty mediocre, all packaged stuff, but I really don't eat most of that stuff anyway so it did not matter to me. They had coffee, juice, and fresh fruit so I was good! If the bedspreads are washed with each guest, I will DEFINITELY return when flying out of SF.

    5
    « Smooth »

Great park/stay/fly program. Works smoothly. We didn't have to worry about anything. So close to SFO. Staff was friendly and helpful. It is amazing that this motel is 65 years old and looks this great. It is so clean!

« Romantic. Surprise. Mini Getaway. »

Our experience at the El Rancho was really wonderful. From the last minute reservations, early check-in, professional, warm and cheerful staff (who wants to work on Christmas Day, much less, early morning?), to the room, which was great. Decor was nice, very clean (only one issue, but that was addressed with housekeeping and really not a big deal). We were on a mini getaway, and had our privacy respected,(as we've been to different hotels where housekeeping would knock on the door and ask if we were staying over, which can be annoying when you are trying to sleep as late as you can). When I called the front desk to ask a question, the agent answering was always polite and gave good suggestions. The only "eh" thing was, the first morning, when I went into the cafe' to get breakfast, the server was a bit brusque. The selection was okay, however, being a Best Western Plus, the few I've stayed at before had really nice hot breakfasts, and not just Continental. Don't know if it was because of it being Christmas (understandable), but the next morning, there was less of a selection for breakfast. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay. I would definitely recommend, and already have, friends to stay there.

    « Irresponsible management »

I did not have a swell experience. I went there last week with my family for vacation, one of the housekeepers threw out my retainers, please be careful with placing your items or they might get thrown out. My parents and i called the front desk, they were of no help, they kept shirking the situation away, and were ill-mannered. if you value certain belongings, take it with you during the day if you plan to leave the premises.

« A clean California Spanish style motel convenient to restaurants and SFO »

I have stayed here on several occasions when I arrive late into SFO from the east coast, or when I arrive late into SFO and don't want to make the long drive to visit family in central California. The staff are helpful, the rooms are clean and recently renovated. The motel provides a nice departure snack of pastries before I leave in the morning, and the motel is within walking distance of several excellent Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants. It is also convenient to a shopping area with supermarkets and banks.

    4
« Convenient and close to airport »

Arrived on late flight. Easiest check-in ever. Very friendly staff. Free breakfast was less copious then other hotels but enough with choices of pastries, toast, bagel, boiled eggs, oatmeal, fruit and beverages. I would recommend.

    4
« Early SFO flight plus parking »

We had a very early flight from SFO and we would have had to drive from two counties north of San Francisco, CA. Instead, we chose the El Rancho Inn located in Millbrae, CA which is very close to the airport. The hotel was very nice but the selling point was the 14 days free parking plus only $7 per day for the two additional days we needed. There was free transportation to and from the airport. They take your keys to your car and park them in a location so that everyone arriving from the airport has their car located in the same area of the huge parking lot.

    5
« Most convenient Inn for long stay travel. »

We enjoy staying at El Rancho for the convenience of their parking while taking long term travels. The room was clean, the lounge offers great appetizers to have with cocktail. The Bartenderette was very friendly as were all employees.

    2
« Overpriced, and just plain awful »

We needed a place to stay near the San Francisco Airport before an early morning flight home from a business trip. There are only two nice things I can say about this hotel. It is very close to the airport, and the daytime staff was helpful. Everything else was just plain awful, especially for the price we paid to stay at this motel. I was assigned a first floor room, that was tucked in behind the restaurant area. I felt this was very unsafe for a female staying on her own. My room smelled like someone had died in it, and was so bad I called the front desk and they sent someone over to spray it, which helped just a tad bit. And then it rained in the middle of the night, and the gutters were so small they couldn't handle the flow and so it sounded like the area was flooding, which woke me up several times overnight. I don't know that I was ever so happy to check out of a motel in my life. If I had paid under $60 for the night, I don't know that I would have been so upset. But the night cost ~$182, which was ridiculous for what was received.

    2
    « Not worth it »

Noisy (the rail tracks are very close, the heater is very loud when heating the room), old and need remodeling, tiny bathroom, under re-construction, internet booking misleading - ended up paying almost twice the rate booked

    4
« Zero personality but fine for what it is »

Not much to say really - it's a simple place with a decent bed and TV and shuttle to the airport. If you need a room for a few hours it's fine but that's all. Service was so so. Ate at the restaurant - not great, not horrendous. Struggling to say more.

    3
« Nice accommodations but very noisy »

The rooms were well-appointed for a Best Western; upgraded bedding and pillows. All the room amenities were modern and new. A well-maintained property. But the property sits next to an active railroad track with trains going by on a fairly regular basis; at night 2-3 trains went by, and as they go, they are sounding their horn. The room is sound-proofed, but it still kept me up. You may want to bring ear plugs. Also, the free breakfast is a "departure snack", and they do mean snack as there is no hot food other than the reheated, omelette-in-a-bag.

    5
    « Top Flight Service & Staff »

The El Rancho Inn & Suites gives guests outstanding value, service, and convenience for visits to the San Francisco Peninsula, and SFO Airport flights. The staff is most helpful, and friendly, every time we've stayed there. They even remember that you are a returning guest, and greet you warmly. It's a place that has friendly feel to it, where the staff really gives off the attitude that they are there to help you.

« Great SFO Airport Motel »

We've stayed here several times, and you can't beat the value - especially if you're doing a park n fly. Nice accommodations, and a free breakfast included, plus a shuttle to/from the airport. Staff is very friendly and accommodating.

    4
« Stay on the Run »

For those who want comfort and fair quality for a fair price, you can't beat the Best Western. The staff is friendly and helpful, the breakfast is handy for those on the go with the need for a quick roll, coffee or toast.

    5
« Super nice, super convenient, super clean »

Modest room, tastefully and comfortably laid out. Excellent choice of pillows clearly marked firm and soft. Firm bed (the way I like it). Very nice towels?looked brand new. CalTrain runs close to the hotel and our room was the closest room to the tracks, but railroad noise was minimally disturbing and should not be an issue for guests. Otherwise very quiet. The breakfast buffet was outstanding and far above the quality typically found at motets/hotels. The buffet offered brioche which was good (I know my breakfast breads and this was not Paris good, but it was very good by US standards), choices of breads and scones; locally sourced apples which were delicious; good coffee; good OJ. Staff everywhere were pleasant, cheerful, and helpful. Certainly would stay here again the next time I fly through SFO.

    4
« The place to stay at the airport »

Great location and the best park and fly program in the area. the facility is a basic 3 star but as a 3 star is excellent. It is clean and very efficiently run. The staff is efficient and the beds are comfortable. The rooms are basic but for an airport facility it has everything you need

    5
« Great Park and Fly program »

Very efficient park and fly program. You check in, pay for the room, they pick you up in the morning for the airport at your room. When you return, you take the shuttle back to the hotel and they bring you right to your car and you are on your way home! Slick!

    3
« More Motel than Hotel. Ok, but basic »

I would describe this as a motel, with the external door to the rooms opening out to the motorway rather than into a hotel/reception area. If this was not located in Palo Alto you'd expect the room charge to be <$100 per night. Rooms were of a decent size and clean enough but this is a no-frills 'motel' and good enough for somewhere to stay for a business trip or short trip to Palo Alto / Stanford but if budget and availability allow I'd shop around. The accommodation is 10-12 mins to University Ave. (central Palo Alto) and 5 mins to Stanford Shopping Center. The bed and bedding is comfortable and wi-fi is included as is a selection of hot and cold breakfasts. Overall, this is an adequate place to stay while in Palo Alto if you just need somewhere to hold up.

« Vicki and the morning crew saved our vacation! »

Vicki and the entire morning staff on our Nov 17 arrival went over the top to help us! They saved our vacation!!! We booked a Park, Fly & Stay as we have done in the past. They always provide a good value. A normal 1:45 to 2:30 hour drive turned into a 4 1/2 hour crawl because of numerous accidents. We called them and let them know of our predicament at each delay point. They were standing by to rush us to the airport. An additional 5 minute delay would have cost us our trip. We arrived at SFO 45 minutes before our international flight took off! We made the flight. Thank you Vicki and the whole morning staff who rooted for our making the flight! You are the greatest!

    4
    « Park n Fly »

We use El Ranch for all our extended trips. The rooms are clean, roomy, and reasonably priced for SFO area. First 14 day parking is free and $7 per day thereafter. They have a simple free breakfast, and there are lots of restaurants in the area.

    4
    « Great for Staty & Fly »

Hotel rate for stay and leaving car and proximity to San Francisco Airport-SFO very convenient. After doing the math for getting up long before dawn to drive approximately 50 miles to SFO and pay for parking and shuttling. No contest! Came out to only approx. $100/night for hotel. Will definitely repeat.

« One night respite enroute from SEAsia to Austin. »

From start to finish, this Best Western Plus exceeded my expectations. i was exhausted as I had been traveling for 2 days. The hotel shuttle arrived within 15 minutes . The 2 gentlemen at the front desk were exceptionally helpful. Yes, the shuttle will pick you up at ,at your room if you have large luggage! Imagine that. Yes,the early breakfast opens at 0430. Yes, that too. Yes , you can use the office printer to print out your boarding passes. The room was cozy, clean ,nicely furnished. Very pleased with my brief stay.

    « Excellent airport connection »

We stayed before and after our trip. shuttle to airport was quick and easy. They understand the stay and fly business and do it very well. Rooms are clean and breakfast opens early (4:30). Shuttle picks up at the room, which makes things easy with luggage. Return pickup works flawlessly. Car was parked in front of the room, and all paperwork was done ahead of time.

    3
« Usually good stay but not this time »

We always stay here when we fly out of SFO for vacations because they have the extended parking at an affordable price. This time though the price was significantly higher and we happened to be in a room under the stairs which was very loud with foot traffic. All our other stays here have been great, this time was our first time we were unsatisfied.

« Great Pick up bus from the Airport good to rest after flight »

The bus to El Rancho was quick,( you dial 2 to call them at the bus stop at the airport inter.l) Reception staff try very hard to make things run smooth, Room clean and on ground floor quiet a long walk for me from reception I got Taxi in to town and could use BART and bus back If you find you have no hotel breakfast voucher , that is not a problem Best Western run a Fast breakfst from about 5.30 just drop in and out very good and the franchise rest which is in the same building does not open till 7.30 Outside phone line is a bit confusing as you have dial 1's and 9's i ended up with a sheriff on the door asking me if I was a hostage as I had got the sequence wrong

    4
« Great car parking service! »

The hotel offers free 14-day parking for SFO travelers. You give them your car key and they take care of your car. Upon returning, they pick you up at SFO, the driver goes to "Parking Service Department" office to get your car key back and then drives you to where you car is parked. You get off the shuttle and get in your car, and go! If you park more than 14 days, the hotel charges $7 for every additional day and bills to your credit card. You don't have to go into office, to discuss the bill, to sign off. Nothing! You just go. Great service and well managed. Great value for long time parking.

This hotel has such easy access to the peninsula and San Francisco. The restaurant meals are terrific and the outside lounge area is convenient and comfortable. We always look forward to staying here when we are leave from SFO.

« Would love to stay here again »

I stayed at this Best Western Plus, El Rancho Inn in Millbrae for 4 nights for a business trip in the Bay Area. The location and quality were competitive compared to other hotels in the Bay Area and this location is about a 15-minute walk from the Cal Train and Bart station. This was a very refreshing hotel experience---I recently stayed at a Sheraton that had smalls stains on the walls and ceiling, a stuffy musty smell, and dinged up furniture. I was very happy with my stay at this Best Western. The room was clean from bottom to top and was comfortably furnished like a studio apartment. The maid staff did an exceptional job cleaning my room each day. All of the appliances worked and the room smelled neutral (did not have any particular oder like many other hotels do). The room was quiet and the bed was very comfortable. Grab-and-go breakfast was another nice touch.

    « Great experience »

We did a reverse Stay. Left our car and flew out and stayed on the returning end or our trip. This hotel was so accommodating! We were supposed to return on a Thursday but were delayed one day and had to return on Friday. When I called the response I received was "no problem, we will roll your reservation over to Friday night". What a relief, no extra charge, no hassle. When we arrived at the airport they picked us up within 30minutes of our phone call. Great service.

    « 30+ years, and still fantastic. »

We live about 250 miles from SFO, and whenever we travel by air out of SFO we stay at the El Rancho. My parents utilized the hotel since before 1983, and my wife and I since about 1988. And its always the same...which is to say, neat/clean and with just the best staff around. They are courteous, helpful, friendly, and very professional. There are many fine restaurants nearby, but a visit to the hotel restaurant will not disappoint. Try the French Onion soup...its delicious. Best thing about this property, is that it is so consistent from year to year. It's obvious that the owners pride themselves on clean, well appointed rooms, and a restaurant and staff that have never failed us. It's our "go to" place to stay when traveling out of SFO.

« Nice premises, close to SFO »

A friend of mine stayed here before, so my decision was easy. We had a two room suite. A continental breakfast buffet (the front desk will point that out as departure snack) was included, which offered a good choice of breakfast items,. The room was on the smaller side, but as an Airport Hotel space is nothing what is important for a one night's stay. The Hotel style to the contrary is more one of a resort. Driving time from SFO was roughly 8 minutes (late night) and easy to get to. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Great Place! »

The staff at check in and check out were friendly and helpful; the maids were as well. The overall cleanliness of our room, the good beds, and the various amenities could not be any better. This is a family-owned property and the care in which guests are treated and the upkeep of the property reflects just that.

    « Couldn't Sleep »

I was attending a work conference near the airport and I was looking for a reasonably priced place to stay. I chose this hotel based on the reviews and the lower cost. Between the heater making a loud noise every time it turned on and the toilet making loud noises every 20 minutes, I could not sleep. At first, I thought the walls were just thin and the person in the next room was taking a shower but the noises continued through the night so I know it was the toilet. Next time I will pay a little more and stay elsewhere.

    « Recommendation »

High recommend this hotel if you are flying overseas, free parking for up to two weeks, delivery and pickup from the airport by shuttle and the rooms are extremely clean. We have stayed there previously and would refer it to our friends.

« Value, convienent and a pleasent experience »

I was on a whirl wind 48 hour business trip to San Francisco and was seeking a hotel close to the airport and a reasonable value. I have never stayed on a Best Western Plus property but was extremely pleased with the El Rancho Inn. The property, rooms, and staff exceeded my expectations. I just hope to return and stay longer.

We spent the the night, ate at the very nice restaurant(great food) and our room was nice, clean and confortable. We left our car for a week all inclusive.....The shuttle to the airport was quick, confortable and dropped us at our terminal. What more could you ask for? I suggest that you give it a try. .

    « Excellent Service »

came in a day early....fortunately hotel had an opening....hotel is convenient to SFO and has a plan (believe it is $7.00 a day) for after 14 days...really nice, good breakfast, excellent service. Spanish style décor..close to freeway, but quiet.

« Great place to stay near San Francisco Airport! »

If you're looking for a convenient place near SFO to stay overnight and leave your car, this hotel is great! The service is wonderful and the price affordable. The hotel is clean and the shuttle service operates on time and frequently. No reason to stay anywhere else.

    5
« They know how to do it! »

This place has great lodging and food and they even take care of your car for up to two weeks. We stay here the night before we travel out of SFO. Have a nice dinner and the shuttle picks us up at our door in the AM and off to the airport we go! The return is just as easy, the shuttle picks you up and takes you to your car and away you go!

« great shuttle to air port! »

The staff is very helpful and the breakfast was very good, had a great shuttle to the air port - we where traveling to Mexico for a senior golf trip and we need ground floor rooms because of the large golf bags - great service!

« Stayed & Parked or Fly and Park - OUTSTANDING »

From the check in to the drop off at the SFO Airport this was the absolutely best option to rest before the first leg of a long International flight. Juan the shuttle driver was excellent. The room (126) perfectly appointed, clean and speacious. It is a delight to start your trip from this Hotel and I recommend it highly to all travellers living further than 50-60 miles from the Airport. (In my case South Lake Tahoe) Five stars all the way.

    « Great place »

We stay here and love it. They have a shuttle that takes you back and forth to the airport, nice clean rooms, and usually the staff is great as well. It's pretty nice that you can leave your car at the hotel until you get back from your vacation as well .We like to eat at their restaurant, the food is pretty good. Last time I was there thou, the new bartender was completely out of it. I hope they find someone better to replace her.

« Our stay at Best Western in Milbrae »

Clean facility with helpful friendly staff. The almost $300 price tag surprised us. The rooms were clean but the train going by taking people to work was our alarm clock. The in room A/C was so loud we couldnt sleep with it on and the morning breakfast was muffins and juice. Not really what we are use to for a hotel breakfast. Street traffic noise was not noticeable. A number of good restaurants close by.

    2
    « Mixed »

Attractively done property and nice people, but you are right next to active train tracks, and at least in the room in which I stayed the bathroom was tiny (made worse by the door opening inward), the wifi was anemic and useless (and only needed for email, not streaming), the thermostat seemed to have little effect, and the windows didn't open.

    5
« Excellent service and convenience! »

El Dorado Best Western provides excellent service overall. I especially appreciate the opportunity to park my car while I travel and return to the facility via shuttle. Every staff member provides excellent, friendly and personal service.

    « Stay »

Our stay was as planned, Staff was Friendly, Professional, Helpful, Had answers to all of our questions. Drivers on the Buses were helpful & professional. Over the last 40 years we've used the El Rancho Inn as our Park & Fly Inn.

    « Exquisite! »

This hotel has different buildings for their rooms. The entire complex is laid out very attractively with a southwestern feel. There is a very nice pool by the restaurant...The Terrace Cafe. Our room was a bit smaller and a little tight for the two of us but decorated lovely and clean. It has all the amenities you could want or need. We had dinner at The Terrace Cafe which delicious and elegantly served although you could dress casually for dinner. Prices were reasonable too. At breakfast complimentarypastries, fruit and beverages were available at the cafe. Would we return? Yes!

« Just a quick rest before flying »

Well, the room was dated and not that spacious compared to other American hotel rooms. The swimming pool was there but I didn't use. The guest laundry, I did use, and had some technical problems (which at the end wasn't very technical -- the washing machine was simply unplugged). Anyway, it costed me time trying to get it to work and it was just stupid. There's only 1 washer and 1 dryer. So, be aware of that. The complimentary departure snacks were offered, but hadn't I searched for it on TA, I wouldn't know. There's no clear signage nor was I informed by the reception at the time I checked in.

    « Train is noisy »

Tray not to get the room in the back because of the noise of the train. That is the only negative this about this property. Everything else is perfect. Continental breakfast was good the wifi no problems just the train that passes by honks its horn. rally annoying

« Fine for an airport stay »

Nothing fancy, but a free shuttle to the airport, and close proximity to SFO makes this a fine airport hotel. There was a bar which was fine, and a pool if you have time to use it. this isn't a destination hotel; for god's sake don't use it as a base to explore San Francisco. But it's fine for an overnight stay for an early flight. Rooms are fine, but small, fairly basic.

« Great when you want to be close to the airport. »

Nice, clean, and quiet hotel. Very close to the airport yet you didn't hear a lot of noise from the planes. We booked it the night before our return flight and it was easy to get right to the car rental drop off!

« Good deal for SFO Airport travelers »

I had a one-night stop-over in SFO awaiting an early flight home. This hotel provided the ideal solution: minutes form the airport with a prompt reliable shuttle service to/from, clean & comfortable rooms and a reasonably-priced on-site restaurant with good food. Also, easy walking distance to local restaurants, drug store & grocery store. NOTE: This hotel is set-up like a giant motel -- it's 2 stories of outside-facing rooms. There is a newer section and an older section. I stayed in the older section near the main office & it was just fine.

    « The extra mile »

We have stayed at this Best Western several times due to convenience to the airport. This time our flight came in after midnight and the van was there to pick us up-no problem. The van driver even carried our heavy luggage to our upstairs room. How wonderful after a long flight. Thank you-

    « Love the Park/Fluy »

I always choose this property when I need to Park/Fly out of SFO. On the most recent occasion I left my car at the hotel for 3 weeks and upon my return my car was parked directly in front of my room and the shuttle driver provided me with room and car keys and my receipt. I was able to go directly from the shuttle to my room without having to stand in the line in the lobby to check in. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. I love these beds, especially after a long and awful flight! The staff is always friendly, helpful, and well-trained!!

    « Satisfied Customer »

Always a hassle free experience with friendly and courteous staff. I never have any issues and always try to book my stay at this hotel when in the area. The rates are competitive and the location is easy access to freeways, dining, shopping, etc .

« Excellent Sleep and Fly »

We love staying here when traveling from San Francisco airport. The hotel is comfortable and clean. All on staff were kind and helpful. Their courtesy breakfast bar opens at 4:30 a.m., which makes it so convenient for early morning departures. Shuttle service is flawless both going and coming back. 5 stars in every category.

« El Rancho Inn Millbrae »

Wonderful quality of hotel rooms, restaurant and service. Clearly best value for anyone using the hotel for stay/park/fly. We have used this Inn for the past 30 years and have always been pleased and impressed with the efficiency of getting us to and from the airport as well as the comfort and enjoyment of our stay at the Inn.

« Good hotel close to the airport »

Good hotel close to the airport with free shuttle. Check in was very easy and friendly. We typically do not stay at hotels/motels which have room doors directly opening to the outside but no complaints here. Would stay here again if in SF.

    « easy home base »

this was a great location to use as a base for San Francisco. we didn't want to deal with driving and parking in San Fran, so we chose El Rancho. Being so close to a Bart and Caltrans station made it easy to get into the city with no hassle. And getting to a Giants game couldn't be easier. The hotel itself is sprawling which also made for a quiet sleeping environment since you don't have levels upon levels on top of you. Would definitely stay here again.

« Perfect for business travel »

I'll be honest, I was a little bummed when I found out that my colleagues were staying at fancy hotels and I, joining the group late, would be staying at the El Rancho. That is why I am impressed that my experience overcame that expectation. I had a great trip based on the following: *Clean and comfortable - plenty of pillows and a great mattress *Convenient and quiet - I found it easily and parking was a breeze *Friendly, helpful staff - Check in and check out was quick and painless *Great work area - I always end up working from my hotel room. I've stayed at some very nice hotels where the work station looks great but is not at all functional. This room had a simple desk and chair but they went well together, and I didn't find myself struggling to find a way to work comfortably. Wifi worked really well and I appreciated an outlet on the desk so I didn't have to crawl around on the floor. I would definitely choose this hotel again in the future.

« Love the El Rancho »

We always stay at the El Rancho Inn when needing a Park & Fly from SFO. The prices are reasonable, the service is great, and the rooms are adequate. There is also a fine restaurant on site. When returning from your trip, they have a highly efficient system of picking you up at the airport, getting you quickly back to the motel and then delivering you to your room and/or car without having to check into the office. The El Rancho was recommendedto us by friends and we have been staying there for years. We have always been pleased and satisfied with everything.

« It is a great set up »

We use SF International often and have found out about this hidden secret of "Park and Fly". What an incredible experience to know our car is safe, and we have a prompt ride back and forth from the airport and a great place to sleep. We are going to continue to keep this in our travel plans

    « A little tired - not the best. »

We chose this airport hotel as Best Western is a name we know and have used, but we were not keen on the hotel. Our room was way out the back up a very utilitarian metal staircase, overlooking a yard and we did not feel that safe there. Notices on the doors saying to double lock the door did not help. The room was just OK, but overall the hotel needs refurbishment. Past its best. We ate at the restaurant which was fine, good service and we enjoyed the food, but the breakfast was pretty awful. I'm sure there are better choices.

    « Noisy and nice! »

It was too noisy! All rooms faced the parking lot and the lot was full. It was a good thing we didn't need to park a car. Cars came and went for hours into late evening. Lots of beeping from locking and unlocking car doors. When Entering and exiting rooms, the walls rattled as the doors opened and closed. Plus the local Train ran all night. I never fell to sleep. However, the appearance of the hotel is a charming spanish style design. the Rooms are very nice and clean. Looks fresh... newly updated interiors. Good location, near SF airport. Offers a shuttle plus a comp. breakfast at their on site restaurant which was simple, but nice and avail. as early as 4:30am. Overall, We felt we were in a safe clean area. BART was within walking distance too. less than a 1 mi. with side walks all the way.
