    « Over night stay »

A very good hotel in a beautiful and peaceful setting. We stayed for just one night on our route further south. Therefore we did not have the chance to use the pool or have a discounted round of golf, but both looked very inviting. We took our evening meal and breakfast in the restaurant. Both meals were of a high standard. We managed to get a table for two, but it is worth booking in advance, especially at a weekend. It got very busy.

    « Stopover »

Was ideal for a few days relaxing on our way to the south of France. Fairly close to Niort and the 'Venice Verte' where there was lovely scenery and some good cycle routes. Well worth a visit - surprisingly different.

« Best Western Manoir de Beauvoir »

A lovely start and end to our holiday in France this year. Our room was basic but clean. The staff were excellent and the food fantastic, though it would be nice to haver a cheaper bar menu to choose from with children, as the cost of the food ended up being more than the room. The hotel is in a lovely quiet setting too, being on a golf course in the countryside, but this also prevents you from walking somewhere else to eat. On the whole I would definitely recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation booking it again in the future.

« A good stop over hotel, but no brilliant »

We stayed here on route to Bordeaux. Despite the nice looking hotel in the picture we stayed in the more modern block away from the main house. Comfortable room, but not something i would want to stay in for more than 1 night. Building looked a little tired.

« Good stop on the road to Spain (also to play golf) »

We stayed here for two nights, and played golf on the adjacent golf course. Our room was simple but sufficient (old part of the hotel), dinner could definitely be better, breakfast was very good. The staff friendly and forthcoming. Altogether good value for money. And that golfcourse comes in very handy.

« lots of character in quiet location »

Hotel was full of character and the location was quiet. The staff were helpful and friendly. The evening meal was very good, however the breakfast would benefit from with some improvement. All in all we enjoyed and would recommend.

    « A relaxing stop over »

A short distance away from Poitiers, the hotel was easy to find just off the main road (N147). Set in it's own grounds including a golf course, the hotel has a relaxed atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our room was a good size and comfortable on the first floor with a balcony overlooking the golf course, so it was easy to relax after a long drive. The evening menu offered a limited variety of dishes which were well presented and I consider were good value for money. The buffet breakfast offered a wide variety of foods and sufficient quantities for everyone's needs in a relaxed environment. A much better and more relaxed stay than staying in a city centre location.

    « very dissapointing »

Very disappointed in this hotel ,it was shabby not of the standard i expected from Great western .avoid if you have a member disabled not disabled friendly at all the lift was ridiculously small ,it was unable to hold a person in a wheelchair no milk in the rooms to make a drink and the staff were not interested if you didn't want to eat there ,our room was above the kitchen and all you could hear was the bell another meal was ready very poor and expensive .

« Glossy but delve a little deeper! »

The main building was gorgeous and the staff couldn't have been more friendly but there are some things to be aware of: 1) The rooms in the separate block are utilitarian, quite bland and unattractive, certainly not what I expected when I booked the hotel. 2) The meal, well as much as we could afford, was delicious....really lovely. The problem was the price. It was, for us, particularly expensive. If you're on a budget, eat elsewhere but the hotel is a little way out of town.

    « Budget »

I stayed here in August for two nights. The hotel is very pretty from the outside and in quite a nice setting. The room sadly didn't match the grandness of the outside of the hotel. It was very very basic and a bit shabby. It was clean though. The biggest disappointment was the restaurant, the service was very poor. Once we were seated we waited over an hour to have our order taken, we kept asking staff if someone could take our order and they kept saying another waiter takes the orders and he would come over. After an hour, we finally got someone to take our order. He wasn't very impressed about taking it. The food was average but quite pricey for what it was. The pool was clean and it is a nice facility to have. Overall the hotel is fine for a stopover but perhaps avoid the restaurant.

    « Fantastic breakfast »

The breakfast is very high quality especially the artisan bread, worth coming just for that. Highly recommended and our second visit in 1 week. The manager is charming and the staff wonderful. Come stay here you won't regret it if you appreciate the best of France.

    « Lovely setting »

Spent one night at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. We had a room with a large balcony which overlooked a golf course but wonderful views. The balcony was equipped with two chairs, table and two sun loungers which was lead for relaxing and having a drink. The room was quite large and spacious with a seating area. Bed was comfortable and bathroom slightly on small size. Room could do with updating a little but other than that it was fine. Dined in the restaurant and had a seat outside on the terrace which was wonderful. Meal was excellent and good service. Breakfast was also taken on the terrace and again was very good with a large choice. Would not hesitate to stay again.

« A bit tired in a lovely location, pity about the restaurant »

On a positive note the hotel is located in pleasant grounds with nice views - especially from the terrace. The room was a good size and nice and airy - and because it overlooked the side of the hotel where the entrance is, it was always nice and cool. The interior is however becoming a bit shabby and the hotel in general needs some TLC. The breakfast was good and we were on B&B basis. I don't think however we would have been happy to pay E 12.50 each for breakfast which they charge. I'm afraid to say that the restaurant was at best very disappointing. I was ill for 2 days after eating there on the 1st night and although nothing can be proven I have my theory about the cause. To be fair I was not charged for that meal. We had noticed that the menu did not change all week and there was a limited choice. We subsequently learned (after speaking to the manager) that there is a different daily menu du jour - this is not publicised anywhere and we were told that the waiting staff offered the menu du jour when taking your order. THEY DO NOT. I would ask the management to change this practice and at least make customers aware of the daily menu. The prices (on la carte at least) were expensive and the wine list also - with no reasonably priced wine and as far as we could see no "house wine".

    « OK for a one-night stopover »

This is an impressive location, especially for golfers (which we are not). The reception was 'tepid' but amenable to questions - not much was volunteered. Our room was large and comfortable with good views, but the aircon had not been switched on prior to our arrival and it was difficult to get the temperature down. (During the night we had raid, so it did not matter). The bathroom decor was very 'tired' with a broken seal around the shower screen causing a lot of water on the floor. Towels were rather thin and the only soap was in a mysterious plastic bottle that took a lot of squeezing with wet hands. The buffet breakfast was excellent with elements to suit most European cultures. My evening meal was disappointing - the 'lamb' cutlets were unappetising, large , fatty mutton chops - My wife chose the Sea Bass, which she enjoyed. Wathing swallows swooping over the golf greens was captivating.

« Lovely manor by a golf course »

Great room in a lovely manor. It was like being in an Agatha Christie novel, at some point we were even expecting somebody to drop dead and Miss Marple to appear casually. Talking seriously now, clean room, average breakfast. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool very much.

    « Faded elegance. »

Nice location with pleasant outlook and lovely terrace. However the interior needs updating. Our room was difficult to manoeuvre in due to very low sloping beams which were dangerous at night if getting up to visit bathroom. Food in restaurant very mediocre and disappointing. Would not stay again.

« Stop over on travels through France »

Good value for money hotel (discounted price). Stayed one night - room was comfortable, clean and airy. The hotel is an old property - very charming with lots of character - a little tired in places though this perhaps added to the character of the place! Had meal in restaurant in the evening which was good value and breakfast was excellent value for money. Hotel setting was next to a golf course so great views over this from the veranda next to the bar. Staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke good English.

    « Nice place »

We spent three nights at the Manoir de Beauvoir for our honeymoon. The place was great, with a wonderful golf around the hotel. Nice if you are looking for a quiet place to stay. Rooms were fine but a better view was missing. Regarding the restaurant, the "menu of the day" which may be included in a package is not really good and they proposed chicken three evenings in a row. However, the "a la carte menu" which is more expensive, is really good. So you can mix both of them if you stay more than 1 night. Finally, we were disappointed against the staff. Indeed, we mentioned at least 3 weeks in advance that we were coming for our honeymoon but nothing was waiting for is in the room (even a small congratulation card). And there only proposal was to provide us with the address of the closest flower shop or invite us to buy a champaign or wine bottle. However, I would recommend this place for a quiet weekend.

    « Comfortable overnight stay »

Driving back to England from Southern France we stayed one night at Manoir de Beauvoir. Despite the torrential rain when we arrived our stay was extremely comfortable and the room was quiet and excellent value for the relatively low cost. The restaurant was also good value.

« Appearances can be deceptive »

Hotel looked lovely as we drew up but unfortunately the inside did not match the exterior grandeur. Good size room with large comfortable bed. Bathroom small and shower over bath leaked all over the floor. Décor very tired and a not very sympathetic restoration of an old bedroom. Convenient position if travelling the length of France and good not to be near bustle of Futurescope. Not near any other restaurants etc so forced to eat here which was a big mistake. Over ambitious menu with little cohesion. Willing waiting staff but very disorganised. This place ok for a peaceful nights sleep but eat before you arrive.

    « A gem of a find »

We stayed here for one night on our way from Limousin to Brittany and what a wonderful find. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the four we spoke with all spoke good English. Our room was on the second floor with lovely views of the grounds and part of the golf course. The room was well appointed, clean and with extra pillows. We went for the two course dining option, the menu offered a good choice of dishes, we both had the lamb which regrettably was rather fatty for our tastes, it this may be how the French prefer it. The accompanying veg was delicious as was the sauce. Whilst we only went for the two courses we were treated (at no charge) to a little starter of crab in mayonnaise with small pieces of crunchy toast, a lovely and tasty surprise. We had an early start the next morning and wee greater with an extensive choice for breakfast, cereals, breads and pastries of all kinds, cold meats, cheeses and yogurts. This is a great hotel, in a lovely location, well worth a visit. I'll definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

« Manoir de Beavoir - A Gem Worth Finding »

This is an hotel we will be going back to - good comfortable room, just what we needed for an overnight stay en route to the Biarritz area. Easy access (10 mins approx) from the autoroute ; just follow the satnav instructions. Friendly helpful staff, albeit it helps to have at least a passing understanding of French, as their English is somewhat limited. Restaurant was excellent - limited menu, but extremely well presented and high quality food, and the wine list really complemented it - we had a local red which was recommended by the waiter, a good choice. Obviously has a good local reputation as we arrived on a Wednesday evening, and the restaurant was pretty much full, mainly with locals. Service was helpful, and slick. Overall very impressed. Breakfast was the usual buffet, but with lots of choices, and really set us up well for the journey to come. Before setting off, we had a short walk in the grounds, really well maintained as part of the associated golf club - given more time we would have explored a bit more; the building and grounds are both impressive and relaxing at the same time. Checkout was hassle free. This is a hotel that we will undoubtedly be going back to - next time, for more than an overnight stop. Highly recommended.

    « Long weekend »

A long weekend in this delightful hotel. Room and bathroom fine. Meals in dining room very good. Staff tried to speak some English. Somewhat confused by my allergy to metal!!! Setting is glorious and near to Poitiers. Surrounded by 18 hole golf course.

    « Wonderful stopover »

Stopped off overnight on way through France. Excellent room. Didn't eat here, but the menu looked excellent. Very friendly staff, gave us fresh milk instead of the plastic milk available in the room. Would visit again

    « Manoir de Beauvoir »

Friendly staff, good food, spacious rooms, hotel tired in some places but overall a good place to stay on way down to Spain or on way back. Only drawback restaurant shut on Sundays between November and March.

    « Environnement »

This was just perfect for visiting Futuroscope. After a day of excitement just the place to chill out. Well placed for fun. Quiet and yet not boring. Beautiful 18 hole golf course next door. We had the impression to be looked after very well. We would recommend this hotel to any of our friends. The restaurant offers very good food but not necessarily suitable for young kids. .

    « 2 great nights in December. »

We are 2 adults with 2 dogs. The hotel has a great location on a golf course with good views and nicely quiet. Staff were excellent, the room was well furnished, clean and big enough for our foursome.Dinner was very good though a little pricey and breakfast was excellent with a good selection of hot and cold food. Overall recommended.

« Good golf but food not so good »

We spent one day and one night, on our way to the south west of France. We have been there 10 years ago and we kept a very good memory of that place. We found the golf course interesting but we have been very disappointed by the food, the restaurant was better before. The room was nice and clean...

    « Good for a short stay. »

I'd probably give this 3 1/2 stars if that was possible! We stayed for 2 nights for a wedding nearby. It's perfectly adequate for a short stay. The family bedroom in the annexe was huge and clean - two double beds and an upstairs floor with twin beds - tiny bathroom though! The restaurant was good, we ate both dinner and breakfast on the terrace which was charming despite all the wasps. The set dinner menu was good value. Staff were friendly & helpful. The kids enjoyed the pool - it didn't look inviting enough for me! The annexe would be no good for those with prams/mobility problems as there was no lift.

    « Nice, quiet stopover »

If you play golf this would have been ideal. It is a country house type hotel, with an extension that looks like a Campanile, but the surrounding parklands have been converted to a 18 hole course. The food was good regional fare, and it has a delightful terrace overlooking a large fishpond. Children loved feeding the Koi Carp with bread from the restaurant, but we felt a little uneasy although parents were supervising.

« Lovely setting but awful service and terrible menu »

Lovely setting but service was awful, currently sitting in the nearby pizza place getting dinner after not being even offered a drink 40 mins after our table was booked. Very rude staff who tried to argue that we were not waiting that long. Be aware and don't bother!

    4
    « Overnight stay »

We stayed here on our way down to Bordeaux for one night. Room was good with an adequate en-suite. We ate at the restaurant and used the standard plat de jour menu which was very good. Breakfast was very good and set us up for the day. Our meals were taken on the terrace overlooking the golf course which was very pleasant. We used the swimming pool before we left which was good.

    « A real find and a prefect stay. »

From the location to the welcome at reception I was impressed by this hotel. The room we had was huge, I had booked a family room but this was fantastic. A huge double and a bigger queen size, aircon, huge bathroom and a kitchenette. The clean, well maintained pool was a God send. The bar staff friendly and prices not off putting ( 3 Euro 50 cent for a 350ML coke). The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

    5
    « Lovely hotel »

This is a lovely chateau with a michelin-mentioned restaurant, and the staff were lovely, welcoming and helpful. The hotel is on a golf course and in parkland and it's ideal for a quiet getaway. We stopped whilst travelling and it was wonderful and relaxing to be able to sit outside on the terrace with a glass of wine after driving all day. Will definitely stay here again when in the region. Best Western welcome dogs and they were quite happy for us to take her into the restaurant.
