« Very good hotel with a couple of minor tweaks »

Arrived at the Best Western after traveling from the UK. The hotel is situated in a fantastic location in the city centre and fortunately for us very close to the bus stop so ideal to take our bags and be off / running with Australia. Sleep quality was fantastic - something imperative in a hotel. Subsequent two hotels have been poor so this was much appreciated. Bathroom spacious, good shower etc. Lifts good size. Rooms very spacious, well laid out. Tea/ coffee etc. Swimming pool and gym to use :) Negatives - * Breakfast far too $$$$ so we avoided. * Some of the staff do not possess the friendliest manner - not a major issue as only dealing with them for a little time however could do with brushing up on this. They are representing the brand after all and make the first impression. * Potentially could do with a little touch up but it's not really an issue how it is. As for the lady below giving you 2/5 due to them criticisims = There is a Coles across the road for heavens sake. Overall a very good stay and would definitely return.

« Unfortunately The Quality of the Atlantas hotel has downslided big time »

Very Out dated. Rooms need a total makeover. Although it's outdated it is clean. If your a coffee drinker there is no morning cuppacino or latte's or hot chocolate. There's 2 out dated water urns one with instant coffee and other with hot water. Breakfast is just cereals & a machine with cold milks. Toast you can make and powder scramble eggs, fully Apple to eat to take from a bowl. I was shocked & APPAULED. I asked where expresso machine was? If I wanted a latte I needed to buy one: across the road somewhere. Therefore Myself rate hotel >very poor to terrible There's no excuse for the bad food and no real coffee. I have travelled around Australia and they have self serve expresso machines in the outback. Therefore this hotel fails food and beverages.

« Ok stay for one night »

Nice decent sized mostly modern room. However, shower base and walls completely caked in mould & other grime. Not really what you expect when you pay money to stay somewhere. Staff not very friendly & seemed very uninterested in speaking to us or helping us find which tram we needed to get on, sending us the wrong way.

    « Good overnight stay »

Booked a double room with a view overnight with my family of 3 payed $10 extra for a cot for my son arrived before the 2 pm check in that was okay staff are friendly room is pretty good some stains on the carpet and scuff marks on the walls nice view of the Melbourne city hubby said he enjoyed the pool rooms are quiet would recommend.

« Great location near southern cross »

We stayed here as we had a late check in after arriving from the train & an early start for the airport using sky bus. Location is excellent as it's literally 1/2 a block 5mins walk to southern cross & sky bus. Rooms were clean & spacious no fuss checkin & checkout. We didn't do anything other than sleep! We will defiantly stay again ??

    « 1 Night at the Atlantis »

We arrived early, 10 am on a Monday morning. The hotel staff was very kind to find a room for us. There is a tram stop nearby, about 100m that goes to the city on the free city circle. That was really helpful and accessible. The tram stop need better signage though. We came back in the evening after a shopping day out. I needed some help to post something, the front desk staff was very helpful as he volunteered to help me to post it. Physically post some stuff at the post office. The room was comfortable and had all that we needed. With parking and a breakfast it cost Aud 140. It even had a sofa for 2 and the bed was nice. We couldn't enjoy the breakfast as we had to leave early. For future improvement, I would suggest to Atlantis to have an option for those who have to leave early. Maybe a breakfast pack that you can send to the room on the night before, for example with some breads, some cereals and some juices or yogurt. Would definitely recommend this hotel to others. We enjoyed our stay.

    2
« Close to Southern Cross Station »

Yes, close to station...but nothing else to recommend it. Room with no windows nor art on walls. Breakfast minimal. No shower caps. Air conditioning on heating on day when temps were 25+. No instructions on how to change settings. Phoned front desk and received instructions. Check in efficient and staff friendly.

    3
« Clean but beds uncomfortable »

This hotel was a 5/5 for being clean and the staff were friendly. I have given a bad review as the beds need an urgent update they were extremely uncomfortable no variance in pillows I woke up several times durning the night in pain and had a sore back and shoulders both mornings

    3
« Not the best but it's all ya need »

I'll be honest - it's not the worst place I've stayed But it's def not fancy And the room we had had absolutely no natural light coming in what so ever which we found pretty weird and hard to deal with. The bed is comfy Shower is nice and big But it's very basic Staff at reception are helpful Mainly the only thing we hated was no natural light Our window looked out to another window and a wall. Didn't eat here - not sure if there is a restaurant or not It's a good location to the tram Close to everything

« Fantastic hotel for a great price »

Very modern rooms, friendly front desk staff, 24-7 checkin which was great for our late night flight into Melbourne and very handy to the southern cross station with a five minute walk. Can't ask for much more for somewhere to stay over night after a flight. Only criticism was the aircon switched on and off through the night was an inconvenient wake up noise through the night.

« Not what we expected »

The hotel location is handy to the Skybus from the airport, and to get the free circle tram to many locations. It looks very modern on the website, but is very basic in what it offers, with some surprising omissions (there is nowhere to hang wet towels in the bathroom, there are no toiletries other than shampoo and conditioner, and not even a shower cap, there are only tea and coffee sachets and nothing else). The breakfast buffet was so basic we didn't use it after the first day even though it was included, and the breakfast room is windowless and dreary. We looked at the pool but it smelled bad and was not very warm. The 'free' wifi offering is very slow (and is described as slow when connecting - to encourage you to spend more). The heating control didn't seem to have any effect at all. There was a good view of the docklands as promised, but the window was very dirty and often fogged up. The desk staff seemed disengaged, and the cleaning was not very thorough.

« Good location and nice clean room »

We booked this hotel for 2 nights as it is near south cross station where we return our rental car and also near to crown casino. The front desk guys are very humorous and helpful in giving travel tips. Room is quite decnt in size and clean. I will stay in this area again if i come to Melbourne

    2
    « Mediocre accommodations »

Stayed overnight. Bed sunk on left hand side. Ended up sleeping in the middle. Tv didn't work. On the upside the toiletries were great. Price range average for CBD but cheaper and better was available. The reason I booked was out of loyalty. Great location for connections to interstate travel by train or bus as well to the airport via skybus. Other near local attractions is QueenVic & Melbourne Zoo

    4
« Good visit but ....the hotel heating a problem! »

Booked this hotel for its close proximity to southern cross station and the courts. We were not disappointed as the room was clean, the beds comfortable and facilities good. However, the heating in the room could not be turned down so spent a very uncomfortable night in a hot room. If a thermostat is provided, it is assumed that heating can be turned down. This was not the case which was disappointing. Perhaps management could see to this.

    4
« JUST THE FACTS - Across from the Police Station/Jail »

Melbourne Best Western is tops! *Downtown just blocks from the bus station that goes to and from the airport *There is a full size grocery store just a half a block away *A half a dozen small restaurants are within blocks of the hotel *Tourist destinations are accessible by taxi, trolley, buses, or within walking distance *Tour excursions are picked up at this hotel * A full size hotel - with a breakfast room, with adequate food, "pork-in-beans" and Vegemite, for your toast! * Rooms are comfortable, *Hotel rates are affordable, but a "Ritz" was under construction next door

    1
    « Untidy and unfriendly »

Staff members did not great my partner and I at the desk as they continued to chat to each other. Room was tiny, bathroom nearly too small to fit in. Toys from previous stay were found under the bed along with a heap of hair. Floor dirty and hotel unpleasant

    4
« Good place to stay »

This hotel is excellent for a crntral location on spencer st. Easy access for Docklands and the CBD. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The pool is ok but not very warm and the sauna isnt really that warm either.

    3
« Two Nights in Budget City Centre Hotel »

Room looked a bit tired & the bathroom wasn't the cleanest. The bath towels had seen better days. However, the location is excellent (close to Southern Cross Station & the Skybus terminal and opposite a shopping mall with a food court & a supermarket. The staff were very friendly & helpful. Decent value for a city centre business hotel.

    2
« You get what you pay for! »

We booked this as it was the cheapest we could find with a pool in the cbd. Room was more than adequate and met or slightly exceeded expectations. A stocked mini bar and more towels would have gained an extra star. Pool/sauna area could be very nice if it was clean. The whole area was disgusting and stunk. Would return if we wanted cheap accommodation but if your after a nice place this is not it!

    2
« Would not recommend and is not a 4 star hotel »

Stayed at this '4star' hotel recently for +5 nights and I remember staying here before nearly 7 years ago. However I will never stay here again. Room bed linen was not changed once even though it was requested twice. Breakfast is poor. Coffee is like tar. And when and if (a big of) room gets serviced the towels from the previous day were left behind. Not impressed. Having worked in the hospitality sector for many years I asked to speak with the manager or duty manager to explain my dissatisfaction. The reasoning that my room had not been serviced was due to the fact the cleaning staff are third party contractors. I proceeded to explain that my contract was with the hotel not a Thur party contractor but his was the explanation and that I could have their contact details if I wished to complain. The hotel has the potential to be better with better customer service and a more engaged workforce. I wouldn't recommend and doubt I will return.

« Very convenient and comfortable »

Overnight stay. Big room, comfortable bed, clean, good bathroom, good TV, friendly staff, fast check in and out, baggage storage. Would have liked body wash rather than cakes of soap but that is a small quibble

    3
« Perfect for a base in Melbourne »

Hubby and I stayed recently for three nights. It is a great central spot. Quite and clean. Basic hotel ammenities but an overall good stay. Great location for trams and shopping. Not central to main city, but easy to get there via one tram. Staff friendly on arrival and when storing/collecting bags. Cleaning of the room did get missed on one day due our room not being checked again after having the do not disturb sign on. We were gone by 8:30 in the morning (and didn't leave the sign on the door).

    5
    « Large Rooms »

The city view rooms are large and modern with a small sofa, desk, luggage storage and cupboard. While the bathroom is narrow, the excellent water pressure and wide shower head makes having a shower very pleasant. Two towels were provided, but you can request additional ones from the front desk. It's very hard to beat the location as it is close to a number of trams, Skybus (to / from the airport), Southern Cross Station, Woolworths, Coles, 7-11, Pie Face, Spencer Outlet Centre, and a short tram ride to either Docklands, Melbourne South Markets, Bourke St Mall, Chinatown and Flinders Station. Victoria Markets is an easy walk from here as well. The indoor pool was heated to a nice temperature and was the dry sauna. The hotel gym as 3 work stations, a range of dumbbells up to 20kg and a number of treadmills and elliptical trainers. Unfortunately these facilities close around 930pm. A downside is that there are not too many restaurant in the immediate vicinity as most are in Chinatown. If you are prepared to travel 20 mins to Preston from Southern Cross Stration, there you will find an excellent range of Asian restaurants including a place which makes hand made noodles or ???

    4
    « Good! »

Equipped with all the basics and is very clean. Good, efficient service. We arrived earlier than expected; with rooms available, check-in only took a jiffy. There's baggage deposit service at the concierge if required. Very central, within walking distance to Southern Cross station, cafes, bars, supermarkets, and what not. Value for money. Good for short stay/stopovers.

    4
    « Good Hotel »

Good hotel located within the free tram zone. Rooms are minimalist but functional. If you are looking for a good night sleep i recommend the hotel. It has one of the quietest air-conditioning systems i have ever experienced...easy to get to via the Star Bus $18 from the airport.

    5
    « Good Location »

After a long haul flight from London this hotel is opposite the airport bus terminal. A short walk and you are there. The front desk service was quick and professional. I have stayed a few time here but after the long flight it was just what I needed.

    5
    « Excellent all round »

We booked 2 rooms as we're travelling with elderly parents. On check in we requested rooms at least on the same floor & as high up as possible; the check in was prompt & we had fantastic rooms next to each other on the 15th floor. Excellent value for central Melbourne & if required parking is reasonable at $15 per day. Rooms were clean, spacious & the hotel walking distance to Southern Cross station, Coles & tram stops.

    4
« Good and affordable hotel »

Stayed here for 4 nights and I love it! They cleaned the room every day and provide new towel too! We loved it since we're out the whole day and came back at night and to found your room in a good and cleaned room is a worth view. Such a good experience and would recommend others to try!

« Comfortable & Clean a good 25min walk to the city centre. »

After reading reviews and saying this is close to the city, well it is, but you'll need to take a tram or bus or a good 25 minute walk. I would have preferred to stay right in the city centre as I went there for shopping. Staff we ok but would have been nice if they looked up to say hello or bye when coming and going. Need another towel hook in the bathrooms one isn't enough for two people although the shower was fantastic. Free city circle Tram is right across the road and is close to Southern Cross station. In walking distance to Coles, DFO Spencer Street and Etihad Stadium. wouldn't stay here again but that is only because I prefer to be right in the city. Great place to stay if your going there for footy at Etihad. DFO is also right across the road great shopping there also. I would ask for room with a view next time as only had a tiny window that looked at the back of a building. still a good place to stay.

    4
    « Comfortable and clean »

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night. It was the first time I had stayed in this end of the city. It was close to Southern Cross Station and shopping. The tram to Bourke st Mall is on the next corner and the free city circle tram is around the corner 1 minute walk. The rooms were clean, bed comfortable, friendly staff, and check in & out was easy. The hotel is also within walking distance to the DFO Southbank and Ethinad Stadium.

    « Great motel »

We found this motel great ,, staff on the front desk were pleasant and very accommodating , staff who clean the rooms were just as pleasant very friendly ,, like the 24hr checkin , about a 10min easy walk to Etihad Stadium , closer still to the train station ,, Coles straight across the road , room was very spacious and clean , bed comfortable , shower awesome ,, wish they had more hooks to hang ur towels there was only room for 1 towel , we had a city view room didn't get much of a view though , having said all that , we will not hesitate to stay here again ,, will be another booking shortly ,,

« Enjoyed our second stay »

This was our second stay at this hotel, I asked for a quiet room and we were on the 10th floor over looking Spencer st, the room was clean and tidy, sheets were clean, shower and toilet clean, the TV worked well, its a short walk to the train station , and plenty of places around to eat.

    5
    « Enjoyed the stay »

We enjoyed our stay here, we asked for a quiet room and it was, room was clean, shower and toilet very clean, tram stop outside front door and close to train station, this is our second stay at this hotel.

    « Perfect position »

Nice clean and comfortable hotel room. Close to Southern Cross Station and within walking distance to most if central Melbourne. Courteous staff and easy check in. Have booked to stay at this hotel again.

    4
« Economical and good location »

Conveniently located just metres from southern cross station and 24 hour checkin made for an easy arrival. Staff were friendly and helpful. Trams outside the properyy although walking distance to cbd and shopping. Had a clean, sizable and quiet room at the back of the property which suited me but my view was of the wall next door. The bar fridge had no shelving which meant i had to balance my very few items on top of each other. A nice property but elbow grease (or exitmould) needed in the shower wall tiles. Would stay again and will definitely recommend.

    5
    « Great stay »

The place was very clean. It was disability friendly. In fact someone with a disability just checked in. It has movies at a cost. Plenty of room. There was just me but beds for four. Staff friendly and suitcases were held after I checked out so I could go shopping.

    4
    « comfortable good stay »

Clean room, parking in the building with extra $15, no window room view, with limited dinning, yet very central to all cafe and shops. Just across the road from southern cross train station with plenty of shopping options. Staff was very helpful.

    4
    « Good value »

Stayed here for an overnight getaway recently. Pretty much right across the road from Southern Cross Railway Station, and in the Melbourne CBD, making it within striking distance of anything you desire to do in Melbourne during your stay. Check in was quick. Room was simple, but clean, modern and comfortable with an affordable price tag - definitely had less for more on previous visits to other establishments in Melbourne. Includes use of spa, pool and sauna - which regrettably we didn't get time to check out - and a complimentary continental breakfast, which was a nice way to start the morning. Recommend for those who want to have a comfortable stay in the Melbourne CBD - without the exorbitant cost.

    4
    « Very Quite Hotel »

For the price, this hotel is well located and the rooms are very good and quite. Car parking fees are very reasonable and not a rip off like its competitors. Breakfast is reasonable, although there is no bacon and scrambled eggs are the only type of eggs on offer. Very handy to Southern Cross station and Etihad Stadium.

    5
    « Overnight Stay »

We have stayed at this property several times due the central location near the city, Rooms are clean, staff were friendly. The only negative was the breakfast that didn't have fruit and not much variety.

« Dull room but good location for CBD, Parking, pool and Sauna offered but staff lack enthusiasm and details. »

Location Located in one of the business districts of Melbourne close to city centre , located not far about 5 minutes walk to Sky bus which goes to Melbourne airport (RTN 32AUS). There is also Southern Cross train station, Cole supermarkets, Hungry jacks and Subway outlets all very close to hotel. To drive from MEL airport it takes around 35 minutes. Room The room was simple ,white wall decor, slightly grubby on edges but still fairly spacious. Just had no character to the ambience. But offered functionality. The bed was comfortable of medium firmness offering adequate pillows. Either side are two glass top bed side tables, one with a phone and the other an alarm clock. Light switches that are spot lights above are offered each side. This is a small sofa seat on one side and a wardrobe on the other- this includes a Ironing board plus plenty of coat hangers. A large luggage rack exists as well. Facing bed is a large TV that offered 28 DTV channels some local some American TV series. There is also a DVD player offered underneath. Next to this is a working desk also with a phone and a few AUS plug sockets. No desk light but overhead lights. In the corridor is a small mirror area with plugs - below is a empty mini bar- just sachets of milk to accompany the tea and coffee with kettle on one of the side shelves. There is also an iron there. The bathroom was of adequate size but offering very basic amenities - only x2 soaps, shampoo and conditioner. Would be nice if they offered shower gel instead. Good selection of towels though. Overall for the price the room was functional and good it just felt a bit clinical and dull. Such as no lamps etc. They could also offer better functional amenities. Facilities WIFI is free but only for 3 items up to 1000mb only - otherwise there are chargeable options. Not sure if hotel offers any business facilities. However leisure included a decent size indoor pool, dry sauna and decent sized gym - did not use any but appeared clean. Catering did not try but menu is presented in room. The last order is at 915ppm and breakfast at 1030am. They charge 3 AUS for any room service. food is all Italian pasta and appetisers, but breakfast does offer a good selection of dishes such as Egg Benedict- prices range from 8-30AUS. Parking is available at the hotel inside same building with in/out privileges at 15 AUS a day. Staff Staff explained very little detail at check-in, simply asked for passport but could of explained WIFI or offer some degree of enthusiasm with service. No facilities were mentioned and service couldn't have been more robotic and lacking in detail. Overall this was reasonably priced hotel with a pool and parking. However it has got a poor vibe and room is simply so dull than even Ibis appears more exciting. I would likely try somewhere else in Melbourne.

    « Good city hotel »

Check in was quick. Pleasant Reception staff, not too friendly. Room was clean, modern. TV on the wall, fridge, kettle, cups, wardrobe. Iron and ironing board, safe, extra pillows in wardrobe Bathroom with towels and several hair toiletries provided but no shower/bath gel, (got some from Reception when I requested some) hair dryer Chair and desk Two chairs and small table for eating. Shower with decent space. A/C Free wifi Underground Parking $15 a night reasonable price for the city Pool available but never used it though Phone in room Bed comfy No room service or dinner served in restaurant Fri-sat External food ordering from some restaurant which charges $6 for delivery and a surcharge for using credit, debit cards TV had two movie channels that roll from one movie to the next, Fox Sports channels Doors are noisy when they close Lygon St just 2 minutes walk where there are plenty of restaurants and cafes

    5
« Business Trip to Docklands »

Stayed in a docklands view queen room. large room, with sofa and TV. Breakfast was included in the price which was very reasonable. Breakfast was continental with toast, cereal, beverages and 3 hot dishes. For the price could not believe the value for money with room and included breakfast. Location opposite the Southern Cross Station, factory outlet, fast food outlets and airport bus shuttle. Pubs and food very close. Opposite Spencer Street Police Station and building if you need to feel safe :)

    « Great lication »

Stayed here while working. Location is very good, Coles across the road and the DFO shops are there also. Rooms are standard but clean and comfortable. Pool area and gym are also good features of the place. Southern cross station is across the road also.

« Short stay - great room and quiet »

Had a weekend trip to Melbourne and looking for affordable place to stay close to the convention centre. this hotel had the essentials for short stay - was only 5 minute walk from Southern Cross Train Station - as used the Skybus from the airport. Service was good and able to leave luggage on last day until ready to go to airport. Coles supermarket is 5 minute walk away so easy to grab snacks etc to keep in the small fridge. did have possibility of breakfast for $12 , but didn't choose this on this trip. Found traffic noise was barely noticeable - was on 11th floor - so this was excellent. as dont cope well with City traffic noise when sleeping time.

    « Brilliant as always »

The staff were absolutely brilliant and always polite and helpful Our rooms were spotless (more pillows would have been nice) We travelled to Melbourne for the Show and to go to The Hopetoun Tea Rooms The train for the show was across the rod We were in walking distance to the Hopetoun Tea Rooms as well as shopping and other attractions

    « Great Location »

I had emailed for an Early check in as Hubby and I were arriving on an early flight I received no response to my email but on arrival were immediately offered check in (at 9am) which was great. This hotel is in a great location close to Spencer Street Station and across the road (walking distance) from the Skybus terminal to get to the airport. Breakfast is not included but offered for $12pp. Easy access to trams so great options to get around and explore or connect with other services to travel further afield. We stayed a few nights and did not expect housekeeping but our room had been tidied and bed remade on return from our second day out so that was nice. We were able to store our luggage after check out as we had a few hours until our flight so were able to stroll around for a few more hours. Overall the hotel was convenient, clean and reception is open 24hrs so good location for travellers.

    « Great location & comfortable bed »

This hotel located just in front of police office and only few metres from southern cross station. So if you arrive in Melbourne, you can take a skybus from airport to city (southern cross station) only cost 19$, then walk few metres to the hotel or take a free shuttle bus from skybus. And from this hotel you can visit the famous queens victoria market of Melbourne, only 15minutes walking via flagstaff garden or take a tram if too lazy for a walk. This hotel is on FREE TRAM ZONE. Take a tram no.86 (just 5minutes walk) to go to city central like swanston st, collins st, flinders, parliament house, and many more. And there's so many rental car company in southern cross station if you want to go to small cities outside Melbourne. Coles supermarket just between police office and station. Subways, thaifood, pho24, cups coffee shop, and many more. The staff also very helpful, has everything in the room, nice bed, nice shower, clean bathroom, very well mantained hotel with great location. Will stay here again.

    « Revisit »

Have done this hotel before. Prices are reasonable and the place mostly clean. Rooms are very adequate and its proximity to southern cross railway station excellent. Desk service warm and helpful. Showers could do with some grout cleaning Would do it again

« Close to Southern Cross Train Station »

Hotel is in an excellent location to both train and tram transport. It's an easy few minutes walk from the Skybus drop off point if you're coming from the airport. I had a room on a high floor facing the city which was very quiet. Room was booked directly through their website and received complimentary continental breakfast each morning of a 6 night stay. Only a few things that could be improved on. There's no hotel guest information book however reception said they could answer any questions. The fan in the bathroom was thick with dust but on a positive note the bathroom had a very roomy walk in shower. There's no in house room service however you can order from the Italian restaurant next door (the food was very good) and they will deliver to your room. Overall I was happy with my stay.

    « Great location!! »

Room was spartan but clean and serviced every day with linen changed every other day. Only 2 observations. 1. my room did not have a small coffee table. 2. if you stay longer than 3 days as I did the breakfast gets old. Same thing every day, and no ham, bacon, or sausage.

    4
« Great value and comfort »

Comfortable beds clean rooms even a sofa. But wait there's more. Breakfast! Continental breakfast with baked beans and the yummiest scrambled eggs. Close to public transport and great staff. Check in is hassle free. We love this hotel and it's good value for money.

    « Great Location »

I've stayed twice over the last 2 months. The Atlantis Hotel is only a few minutes walk from Southern Cross station, making it a perfect location when flying into Melbourne - catch the Skybus in from the airport & simply walk a couple of blocks up the same street. Restaurants, cafes and shopping are nearby. Business centres and corporate training centres are equally, 2 - 5 minutes walk away. The rooms themselves are generally clean. The tiles in the bathrooms (in both room I stayed in) could do with a far more intensive clean & throw cushions have a few marks on them suggesting they haven't been washed for quite some time. Plenty of room for a couple of nights and views over Etihad Stadium and surrounds. Rooms are reasonably quiet. Business traveller? Make sure you pay on account for business rather than book online. Colleagues were given a very unnecessary runaround because they'd booked online, despite a business account picking up the tab and one us of being on the same account (separate booking and successfully checked in). They weren't permitted to check-in until the account paid and they wouldn't accept a business credit card over the phone. A challenge after 5pm on a Friday! Breakfast is available in the lobby - buffet style continental and cooked options. Convenient & a reasonable range to choose from. The location is the definite attraction & being close to public transport - presents lots of options for travellers from out-of-town, interstate or overseas.

« Reasonable Accommodation in West Melbourne »

This modern hotel is located in Spencer Street across from the Southern Cross Ragland bus station so that if you arrive on the Sky Bus from the airport it is only a few minutes walk and very conveniently located in central Melbourne and a short walk from Etihad Stadium and the Docklands area. It is well priced but bear in mind it is not a 5 star hotel but offers more than adequate accommodation. We had a large queen room, very clean and comfortable. Sleep quality was good although the bed and pillows a little soft for our liking. The bathroom is of reasonable size with an excellent shower. There is an in-room safe and tea and coffee facilities. There is a small fridge but no in room drinks although in the main foyer there are snack and soft drink machines. There is no on-site restaurant but a simple and adequate breakfast is served on the ground floor for a modest additional cost. Internet access by Wi-Fi is available but if you want the 'free' package it is unworkable and slow, even for simple emails, so you have to choose a paid package - we used our data on our iPad it worked out far better. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. All in all a nice stay for a few days on Melbourne at a reasonable cost, we'd certainly return.

    « Convenient and comfortable. »

The room was comfortable and clean, however I feel they missed the details to make it cozy, no decoration at all, no frames or even lampshades beside the bed. The parking is in the same building which was really convenient for us. The breakfast is cheap and poor, $12 pp for bread, instant coffee, milk, bad juice and eggs. The hotel is not so far from the CBD, we walked about 30 min to get there, but that is a good way to better know the city.

« Good clean hotel at reasonable rate »

I was in Melbourne for a few days for business. The Atlantis was in a good spot and for $90 was very reasonable. The room was clean and quiet. Breakfast was ok for $12 although the range on offer might have been better. I used the pool and gym a few times and the facilities were adequate for sure. The staff were friendly on arrival and departure and pretty well covered all the bases. I was really impressed with the cleaning of the room. The room was kept so clean and the towels and linen were changed every day. Good effort Best Western and I am sure that others would enjoy the Atlantis as a base for business or a quick city break. Book with confidence and feel confident that you can walk into the heart of everything without too much effort.

« Budget accommodation in convenient location for footy fans »

A very simple budget no-frills accommodation that is within walking distance to Etihad Stadium. Room was spacious and relatively clean with a comfy bed. Bring your own shower cap as they don't provide any. if you like to sleep in total darkness, note that the aircon reader light is very bright and I had to be ingenious in covering it up at night. It is not close to the hip and happening end of town where the shops and restaurants are. Close to the Museum. Opposite a big Coles Supermarket and less than 10 min walking distance to Spencer Street Outlets. It is within the free tram zone which can be handy.

    « Nothing Special »

My partner and i were on a business trip last week and if you read my previous reviews you would know we are usually very complimentary about where we stay but this hotel is awful. The rooms dull, without any home comforts, the room not cleaned for the entire 9 days apart from the bathroom, dusty, dirty and basic. One of the lifts was broken down most of our stay and if room service are about you can wait ages for the one remaining lift as they are using it. Run out of toilet roll one night etc, etc. Nice view of the Etihad Stadium if you are into the Etihad but as a Brit i wasn't. Breakfast an extra at $12 but only if you like cerial. Hot breakfast is Beans or Egg, thats it!!! Room service make the bed and throw new towels in the bathroom.O'h i forgot to mention i put the DO NOT DISTURB sign outside the door and they rang me on the room telephone to ask if i wanted the room cleaned??? Good for a lads stopover for a match or a complimentary newspaper in the morning but with no bar, no restaurant and no home comforts i would never stay there again.

    « Footy weekend »

Came to Melbouren to watch the legends game at Etihad stadium, just across the road, very convenient location, walked across to factory outlets and eateries before heading to footy. Then called into Mail exchange hotel on way back for a late night snack and a few drinks. The next night we caught a train dpfrom Southern Cross station to Footscray station to see the female footy game at the Whitten oval, what a great night. The hotel is well set up, easy to park the car, service is great, continental breakfast suits us, it is fairly simple, but if you book directly with hotel over the Internet the breakfast is included, which is a great deal. We will be back. Location, location, location!

Chose Atlantis sight unseen but with a recommendation. Rooms spacious and spotless. Well located near train station and other public transport. Cost a night great compared to others. On arrival staff engaging and helpful. Well presented staff and building. Look forward to another visit.

    « A lovely stay »

My husband and I stayed at the Altantis with our 9 month old and 7 year old son in a family suite. With breakfast included it was priced very reasonably for a hotel so close to southern cross station. We arrived early and the hotel checked us in early because no one had used our room the night before. The family suite was very well sized with a tv in both rooms. One thing in our suite that would of made it better was a small sink to get drinking water. They have a kettle and milk in the room for tea and coffee but no drinking water other than water from the bathroom sink. At breakfast and dealing with the front of house staff we found them to be very helpful and extremely friendly. We will return to the Atlantis in future.

    « Clean, Comfortable stay. »

The Customer Service on our welcome was fantastic, they were extremely helpful with accommodating me as a late arrival, while the rest of my family had arrived earlier in the day. We had a family apartment, which is 2 bedroom, a small kitchenette in the hall way and a small bathroom. We were very separated most of the time as the room didn't have a living area for us all to sit together unless we sat in one of the room (on beds, there is 1 chair in each room) The first thing I noticed was that there was no lamps in either of the rooms either, so the only lighting was the main light which made it tricky if one of us wanted to read while the other tried sleeping. There was a TV in each room, which was good as it allowed the boys to watch the footy in one room and movies in another. The Pool/Sauna/Gym was a great set up and very spacious, there was a bit of a smell coming from one end of the pool but we put it down to just being stale air as we were in a basement. The Sauna was very hot you wouldn't want to be in it any longer than 10 minutes.. I didn't use the gym but the variety was great! The Breakfast offered a great selection of cereals, breads, spreads, juice, tea/coffee and scrambled eggs/baked beans! it was great value for what it was! Upon checking out, I overheard another receptionist doing follow up calls to see how far guests were from checking out (this was at about 10:10am) She was rather rude, bossy and abrupt and I watched her slam the phone down on someone telling them they must depart immediately. As someone who has previously worked in 4.5/5 star hotels and resorts, I would never have imaged speaking to someone like this, Being a Sunday.. I know housekeeping have alot of rooms to clean.. I would have been accommodating and explained that Checkout is at 10:00am but would allow them to have a late checkout of 11:00am. I can now imagine those on the other end of the phone would now be saying bad things about the customer service they received. I onlooking this was appalled in the way this receptionist spoke to guests in the hotel. If you do plan on trying to check out late, Maybe ask for a late check out on your arrival. Overall. The location is great, straight across from Spencer Street Station and close to shops. The breakfast was great, Facilities in the Hotel was great, beds were comfortable. I would stay here again if travelling solo or with a partner, but as a family I enjoy a space where you can sit together.

« Best value for money for a footy weekend. »

This is my go-to hotel when I come to Melbourne for the footy. It's the best value for money hotel in the CBD. It's nothing flash, but you're not paying for flash. You get the basics and unless you plan on staying in your hotel room for large amounts of your stay, you won't need much more. The beds are comfortable enough to get a good nights sleep and the hotel is in a location where city noise on the weekend isn't an issue. The bathrooms are very good and the shower is always large with a good showerhead for a good quality shower. Where the Atlantis gets full marks is through a couple of things. First one is their staff. Their staff are always so friendly, helpful and welcoming. They're always well staffed with 3 people on the desk during peak times and 2 during off peak times. The second is the pool. It's a hidden gem. It's a 1.5m deep pool, which is deeper than most hotel pools and it's a good temperature for all weather swimming. Most of the time they'll offer a free buffet breakfast. The breakfast features cereals, wholemeal, white and fruit breads plus your standard condiments, apple and orange juice, muesli, milk and skim milk, and scrambled eggs and baked beans. It's simple stuff, but it's adequate for what you're paying for the room. So if you're a no frills kind of traveler and just want a good value for money hotel with the basics plus a pool and free breakfast, I highly recommend the Atlantis.

    « Happy again »

This is the second time staying here, the rooms are clean and have everything you need, they are not really fancy but clean, comfortable and good value. The service is good and friendly the breakfast is very basic but include in our room rate so it was enough, We use this hotel when we need to stay in the city at an affordable price

    « Review »

Service staff were nice, the wifi didn't work nor the movie channels- not sure if it was because we were on the 17th floor that the wifi didn't work and for my liking at that time of year, the pool was too cold.

    « Ho hum »

Smallish and unimaginative rooms with little ambience, decor or style. Location is convenient to SC station and great if you want a cheap place to crash and not spend any time at. At $99 it was good value. probably not worth much more than that....

    4
    « Conveniently located »

The motel is located 300m from southern cross station, so a $19 skybus family ticket got my son and I from the airport to the motel and another $19 ticket got us back. The area is quiet, being across from a major police station. It is a 10 - 15 minute walk from Ethiad stadium, probably 30 minute walk to Southbank and 20 to Victoria markets. The staff were friendly and helpful. The motel appears clean and modern. The room was a reasonable size, minimal stocks in the fridge. The bathroom was large enough although at best average size. Breakfast is continental with limited options, baked beans and scrambled eggs, toast, cereal, tea and coffee, but the prices were reasonable and with cafes within 15 minutes of the motel, you could always go for a walk if you wanted more choice. The room service menu is for a home delivery service. My only complaint was the menu was out of date and they no longer made what we wanted so we ended up going out to find dinner. All in all, I am happy to book myself in there next time I go to Melbourne, if I am going to ethiad stadium, I wont even bother shopping around.

« Cold pool, poor breakfast »

Stayed one night and was attracted by parking facility at a good rate. Accommodation was neat and tidy but heating was way too hot. Room was very stuffy. They also need to use a bigger doona as it barely covers the edges of the bed. BYO tea or coffee as the standard stock is woeful. We used the 'heated' pool and was disappointed it was chilly. Sauna was lovely though. Breakfast was a joke. Went down for breakfast and was told by first waitress that yes, they had gluten free bread, and only to be told by second waitress that no, they did not. When I spoke to reception about it the girl shrugged her shoulders and said oh well. Won't be rushing back.

« Good value for CBD location »

This is close to Southern Cross Station so very easy access to transport. Takes about 15-20 min walk to Burke Street Mall or catch the free city circle team for a few stops. About 15-20 min walk to casino / south wharf DFO. Room was good for price, with the basics, kettle and fridge.

    3
« Tidy Hotel Close to Ethihad Stadium »

Rooms are typical of 3 - 4 star hotel and were clean and tidy. Bathroom was large with all modern conveniences. Hot water was set to one temperature and good but not quite hot enough. The bed itself was comfortable. However, no top sheets are supplied. Reception staff were indifferent and not friendly. Issue at checkout regarding in-house movies and parking. I was made to feel quite uncomfortable when querying the account. However the house keeping staff were friendly and happy. Great location to Etihad Stadium, Southern Cross Station and Sky Bus to the airport. Hotel is only 50 metres from the tram line that rings the city. I give this hotel 3 out of 5

« Very impersonal and cold hotel »

Stayed five nights in this hotel to finish off my Australian trip to visit my daughter. The hotels best point was its location, very close to the harbour and to the main railway station & Etihad stadium(should you need it). For a supposedly four star hotel the reception was very unwelcoming (reminded me of a car hire reception) We had a few problems with the room, leaky kettle, safe that would not work, among other things. We had to keep on and on to get things sorted. In the end they gave us free breakfast for the last couple of days. To be honest i would not have paid for this breakfast. It was labelled as Continental but was neither continental or Australian. I expected a cold buffet with meats etc but was pleasantly surprised to see hot containers. These however only contained very soggy scrambled egg and tepid beans, not a meat (hot or cold) in sight. Other than that we had to fill ourselves up on toast and cereal....not what you would expect from four stars...oh and the coffee was dire..had to drink tea. The room was comfortable but a lack of drawers meant we had to keep the majority of our stuff in cases. Oh and they only supply shampoo and conditioner so be sure to take shower gel with you. Just to reiterate, location is fantastic but not a very welcoming hotel.

« Impersonal Service does not make 4 Stars »

This place is reasonably priced for location but staff definitely need to work on customer service. Breakfast was bland and not worth the $11 so make q trip to McDonald's for a better feed. Room was fine but could not connect to WiFi and front desk does not trouble shoot. This needs to change and WiFi should be included! Parking was good at only $15 per night. Iron and ironing board were terrible, cheap is not better! All in all if you are just looking for a place to sleep and you can get a good deal then this is for you. If I had of paid full price I would have been very unhappy.

    « fixtures in room »

The room was ok but the kettle was leaking, bathroom door was just hanging in the venetian blind would not work but over all ok for short stay but very good location. The staff were good and took all faults in their stride and repaired or replaced items could do better next time I will return for updates

    « No sleep »

Pros: Close to Spenser street station. We did not hear much noise from other guests. Breakfast was okay. Cons: The bed was very uncomfortable. I did not sleep much at all. You can't adjust the heating. It was a really cold August weekend. The doonas were very thin, more like a bed sheet. Even with the only spare blanket on my bed it was still too cold. No mini bar. Although it was cheap I wouldn't stay again.

    4
« Comfortable stay, helpful staff. »

Very clean room with all the needed features. No thrills, no mini bar but tea and coffee provided. Comfortable stay. The lift was a tad noisy, on the 16th floor we could hear it going up down through the night. Great city views. Recommend for a convenient to stay place close to Southern Cross and the CBD.

    5
« Clean, convenient and comfortable. »

We only stayed one night but it was perfect for our needs. The check in staff were very friendly and allowed us to check in early as the room was ready. We were very greatful for that. The bed was very comfortable and the room was spacious and clean. The location is amazing, so close to southern cross station. Couldn't fault it at all. Will be back if we get the chance.

    « Great location »

We had a 3 day stay at the Best Western. The best thing about this hotel is the location. Close to the Southern Cross station, the free tram line stops just in front of the hotel and it's in walking distance to the CBD. The room was basic and very clean with all the amenities you would require for a short stay. The beds are super comfy!!! The guy (with the big beard) checking us in was very helpful, welcoming and friendly. I would definitely stay here again, should i come back to Melbourne!

    4
    « Great position & well priced. »

Great for a short stay and well located close to the city. Just across the road from train station. Friendly and helpful staff. The bed was very comfortable and the room quiet. I enjoyed my short stay very much and will return when next visiting Melbourne.

    4
    « Location location location »

We stayed here for the weekend so that we could explore the city - this was perfect! The hotel is located in the heart of Melbourne on Spencer Street, which is less than a 5 minute walk from Southern Cross Station. Perfect for those coming in from out of town as the SkyBus runs straight from the airport to this station; otherwise there is on-site undercover parking for $15/day. The breakfast could have been better as the only hot food offered was scrambled eggs and baked beans. Other than that it was great value for money!

    3
    « Great location »

You have to pay extra for the Docklands view normally that would be fine but due to very very dirty Windows that was a complete waste. The staff are very polite and the rooms are clean. The hotel is in a fantastic location only minutes walk from the southern cross station.

    « Perfect for a weekend getaway »

We had a Two night stay here and it was great - clean room, with a bit of a view of the city. Friendly, helpful staff & 24 hour check in. Close to spencer st station and shops. Perfect for a weekend get away! Only down side was the pool was a bit cold!!

« A good well priced city hotel »

We have stayed at the Atlantis on many occasions over a number of years. All have been good. This time we had a problem with the room. I went to the reception desk and spoke with Alex. She was fantastic. All sorted out no fuss. Thanks Alex looking forward to the next stay.

    « Excellent Choice! »

Very easy to find this motel, and there is parking directly out the front so you can check in. Carparking is very easy to access and at a very reasonable price, there are also lifts to the Lobby. Staff were very friendly. Motel was a block away from Spencer Street Station. Very clean and rooms were quite, bed very comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is close to Southetn Cross Station and there's Coles across from the street. Great location and spacious room for the price. The room was clean and staff were friendly. I would defenitly go back when I visit Melbourne next time.

    « Covenant and friendly! »

I have stayed here twice recently and found the staff to be very obliging and ready to help. The location is great, close to several tram routes and Southern Cross Station. The breakfast was very good for a continental breakfast. The rooms were vwry quiet which was great for sleep and you could get them at a great price online.

Simple but nice room. Breakfast could have more variety. Very convenient in terms of transport. Located in the heart of the city. 5mins walk away from Southern Cross station. Overall quite a nice experience.

« 2nd time here and still good »

This is the second time I have stayed here and again it was good. Check in staff friendly enough. Room was clean and tidy and bed was very comfortable. Unfortunately view of of the window was looking into the apartments beside the hotel. 5 minutes away from Southern Cross station which is handy if you are catching the sky bus to the airport or a train. Trams straight out the door and only a 15 minute walk into the Centre of the city. Would recommend and if I'm back in Melbourne I'd stay again.

« Low cost family accommodation »

We stayed for a night after 1 month in Thailand and loved it. The rooms were still basic but very comfortable, clean, quite and the staff were faultless. For any future Melbourne shopping trips we will be staying again. Great location for trams or train etc

    « Excellent Value. »

Excellent value for money, have stayed many times before and always find staff very helpful a lovely clean and comfortable room. Handy to have breakfast included.and a free newspaper as well.. Trams stop near the hotel so no need for a car..Just a short walk to Southern Cross station even pulling a bag.

    « Great Location »

The best western Atlantis was in a great location and close to everything and tram stops a few meters away. The staff were friendly and helpful and lobby looked great yet when we got to our floor it had an overwhelming smell of damp musty carpet. The rooms are nice and clean except the mattresses are old and to soft (you nearly roll off the bed when lying down) and the noise from outside was hard to block out. All in all a good hotel just a little over priced.

    4
    « Melbourne CBD - Location! Location! »

First of all, this is a business hotel. So if you are looking out for big reception lounges and premium outlets, you would be disappointed. Yet if you are looking for ease of travel and close proximity to everything, this is the place you need to be. It is bang in the CBD therefore within the 'Free Tram Zone' - massive advantage! The Spencer Street Staion is literally a 3 minute walk which makes it perfect if you are coming from the airport or going to it. Take the Skybus from Toullamarine or the other bus from Avalon airports and you are literally dropped at your doorstep. Most trips would pick you up from here or close by. All trips from ATT Kings pick you from here. We went to Philip Island with 'philipislandtours' and they picked us up from another hotel which was a 5 minute walk and dropped us back to the hotel. It's on Spencer Street and therefore Queen Vic market or King street eateries are literally 5 to 10 minutes away. All car rentals are opposite. Now about the hotel - staff are friendly. Housekeeping is brilliant! They change your rooms without you having to remind them, something I have had issues with other hotels. Breakfast is adequate. There is a TV, safe, small fridge, coffee and tea making facilities. SOME STUFF I WOULD LIKE THEM TO PROVIDE BUT THEY DON'T - Cleaner windows, body wash (they provide small round soaps, shampoo and conditioner) is essential - most hotels do! MORE STORAGE SPACE - the cupboard in our room did not have shelves. WOULD WE GO BACK IF WE ARE GOING TO MELBOURNE? Definitely!

    3
« Great location but not sure we'd go back »

We had 3 nights here for a romantic getaway and I chose it based on its proximity to everything including spencer st station for the skybus. Obviously being Melbourne the weather wasn't fantastic but that wasn't going to dampen our spirits. Unfortunately for us though, we were given a room on the edge of the building so as soon as we walked into our room all we could hear was water running through the pipes. Loudly. We assumed it was the rain water draining. But it kept going. and going and going. We contacted reception about it and asked about changing rooms, and they didn't seemed too concerned. they said it would stop when the rain stopped. Well the rain did stop, and it didn't. We had to put up with it whenever we were back in the room, sometimes it would stop for an hour or three but it started to feel like chinese water torture. Also there was a mould issue in the bathroom which wasn't great to see. Other than that, the location was great and the bed was comfy. If youre staying here, try the Italian place on the corner - it doesn't look appealing but was surprisingly delicious.

    4
    « Location, location »

Great location for sporting buffs heading to Docklands Stadium. Close to Southern Cross railway station plus trams right out the front. Undercover parking at a reasonable rate for a city hotel. Excellent value breakfast offered, could be improved by more hot food offerings, even if it added a dollar or 2 to the cost. Only downside was some loose material outside the room window rattling in the wind on a cold winters night, made for a broken nights sleep.

    4
    « Birthday weeked »

The hotel was really clean and the staff were friendly. The pool was freezing for the dead of winter, would have been nice if it was heated. Rooms were a nice space for 2 and also very clean. Great location as is close to public transport an everything in the CBD.

    3
    « Business Hotel »

I would classify this hotel as a business hotel. It is a small hotel located in a busy street in Melbourne. Walking distance to the DFO, Southern Cross Train Station, Police Station, Coles and many restaurants. The tram station is located just outside the hotel. The rooms are ok- clean and tidy. Friendly staff with great service. Tea and coffee facility available in the room. Rooms are reasonably priced. There is nothing much to do within the hotel so I would not recommend this hotel to a family with kids.

    4
« Great hotel at a good price »

Friendly staff, modern clean rooms and a great location at a great price. Trams right outside and train station across the road make it easy to get around Melbourne. Car parking onsite at a cheap daily rate makes this place a winner. Highly recommend.

    4
« Great Value and Location »

Great location if heading to Etihad, the Queen Victoria Markets, or the Spencer St Shopping Centre. Cheap, secure parking. Good value breakfast. Nice enough rooms and amenities. Very slow free wifi in rooms, but you can pay for high speed. I purchased three nights at a non-refundable price and simply unbeatable value for Melbourne.

« Comfortable Stay! Excellent Location! »

We booked BEST WESTERN Atlantis Hotel for a week in May 2016. The location is very good, as it is on the lines on the Free Tram Zone and is central to all tourist attractions in CBD. We reached the hotel at 10:30am and were allowed to check-in instantly without having to pay an additional cost or to have to wait until 2pm. The buffet breakfast was complimentary for us and we thoroughly enjoyed it everyday! We would definitely stay here again, if we're in Melbourne!

    « Return visit. »

This is the second time my daughter and I have had an overnight stay here. Last time we were in a Docklands view room and this time we were in a City view room. The City view room was quieter with very little street noise, but was slightly smaller in size. All the staff were friendly, the room was clean and breakfast (included in our price) was basic but with enough options. The only negative was the temperature of the pool. I was expecting it to be chilly, but this time I couldn't even get in it. Even my 10 year old daughter (who will swim in almost anything!) found it too cold and only had a quick dip.

    4
« Clean and central hotel »

The Best Western was central and convenient to access the heart of Melbourne. The staff were lovely and meet our every request. The continental breakfast was very average, however you can't complain when it is free. The rooms weren't spacious but still comfortable. Everything was very clean and couldn't really complain for the price on a Saturday night over the long weekend in the city.

    4
« Great place to stay »

we stayed here for 2 days and one night. We were there for our business meeting with a client. Its a nice place to stay. But we get less time to stay here as we had to go to the business meeting. But next time I will try to spend some time here and enjoy the relaxing environment inside the room.

« All good after room change »

Our first room had some maintenance issues such as no blinds (room was looking out onto Spencer St so bright as day). Safe didnt have handle, doona didnt fit bed. But after calling reception at 9pm they changed us to a room on same level. Bit of a hassle moving everything but worth it. New room had blinds and bigger dooner. Still only the one towel hook. Room large enough for our 4 suitcases, backpacks and other items. We were on the eleventh floor. Very convenient for the station and city. Great italian restaurant next door with excellent food. Probably would stay here again if we come back to Melbourne after our overseas 12 month adventure.

    5
    « Central and Fabulous »

The Atlantis Hotel was central convenient and fabulous from start to the end. The front counter staff at the front desk through to the service staff at breakfast and room cleaners were always happy smiling faces and so helpful. We stayed here for an Etihad footy game so the location right across the road was fantastic. Parking underneath at a reasonable rate, happy checkin staff and no problems with the process. The room was clean and modern, the view was of a brick wall but thats what we were expecting. You could upgrade to a better view but for one night we weren't fussed. Although the hotel should hire some local artists to decorate the wall which would actually make it nice! The bathroom was very clean, the only downside was the shower pressure was pretty bad. Breakfast was nice, kept stocked up although the eggs were very watery - I was only expecting cold items so eggs and beans were a nice addition. Overall no complaints and would stay again.

« Okay for overnight trip »

Overall this hotel was okay for the price provided you're not planning to stay for more than a night or two. Excellent location, simple room with everything you need for an overnight trip, staff were very friendly. The issues I had were the temperature, the noise and the cleanliness in the room. Temperature: Despite being one of the coldest June days on record in Melbourne, my room was uncomfortably hot. I tried to cool it down by putting the A/C on with no luck, and sweated throughout the night, sleeping under an empty doona cover (no top sheet on the bed, so had to pull the doona out of the cover to sleep under the cover). I was on the 12th floor, so I'm not sure if the lower floors would have been cooler. Noise: Firstly, the A/C was annoyingly loud. The fan kept clunking on and off all night for no apparent reason. It would clunk off, then a few seconds later clunk back on again. Secondly, there is construction going on next to the hotel. It looks like they're building a large multi-storey building so I imagine this will be ongoing for a while. This meant a lot of noise early in the morning. Cleanliness: Overall the room was pretty clean but the couch has a large stain on it that looked like blood (sincerely hoping it wasn't), and there was a very long strand of hair in the bathroom sink that did not belong to me.

« Good for short stay »

Stayed here for one night with my partner. Its location is great, walking distance from trainstation and other areas of interest. Service was good on arrival, breakfast was very average. Limited buffet. Good for a short stay, would want nicer to stay longer.

« Good location and value for money. »

First stay at Best Western Atlantis Melbourne. We are regular visitors for AFL games and this property is located a few minutes walk from Etihad Stadium and Southern Cross Station for trains around to MCG. Rooms are clean with quality fixture and fittings. Good value for money at present with Continental Buffet Breakfast (including baked beans and scrambled eggs) included in tariff. Beds was comfortable with 2 extra pillows provided and decent lounge to sit and watch TV. Tariiff as not loaded for the weekend which seems to becoming a trend with many Melbourne hotels. Did not use wifi on this occasion but it is advertised as free. Overall a good customer experience and we will stay again

« Convenient accommodation for Etihad Stadium. »

Room for Grandpa and Mr 10 during first trip to a home ground match. Comfortable and warm room with great beds. Probably the most uncomfortable lounge chair ever. Even rated by Mr 10 as useless. View from room disappointing but at least there was natural light coming into the room. Buffet breakfast (extra) was great value and appreciated. Still cannot understand the lack of bacon as a side for the two hot options - baked beans and scrambled eggs. Great staff all around who were efficient and friendly. Definitely a stay again place. Understand that there is parking $15 a night right next door. Simple and sufficient accommodation.

    « Quiet Clean n Central »

Stayed here for first time and was easy to find good parking and room was clean quiet n roomy. Shower was nice n hot with good water pressure. Tram across st for easy access to city and restaurants. Southern cross station not far down street either. Will stay here again. Staff were friendly too.

« Value in Melbourne CBD »

We have stayed in this hotel several times, because it can be very good value for money, especially if you need to park a car on-site in or near the CBD. Excellent access to public transport, and on the edge of the "free zone". The breakfasts are also good value for money, a buffet style continental breakfast with a little extra.

« Great for city trip »

We came for a girls weekend and had a 3 night stay in a twin room. Beds very comfortable and the room was much bigger than other twin rooms I have stayed in in Melbourne. Location is great. 2 minutes walk to Spencer St station and shops and easy access to all trams. Short walk to Etihad Stadium. Would definitely stay again

    4
« Good central city hotel »

The Atlantis is very close to Southern Cross station so it's very easy to get to from the airport or when arriving in Melbourne by bus or train. There's a Coles supermarket almost directly across the road, and Queen Vic market is just a short stroll away. Easy access to Melbourne's free trams and local shopping and restaurants. The rooms are quite big, the walk-in shower was great, and the bed was very comfortable. Decent gym and pool. The staff are super-helpful. A few very minor points: double glazing would make the rooms more comfortable (and cheaper to air condition I imagine!); a small set of drawers for clothes would have been useful, and the internet was a bit dodgy during our trip.

« Nice and big rooms »

Good hotel although it was a tad pricey. Room size was big, but bathroom was small Would be better if it was a little bigger. Shower area had no full enclosure to prevent the rest of the area from getting wet. Water pressure was good but hot water was a little difficult to control. Very quiet location and my room was facing Etihad Stadium. Unfortunately, the room didn't come with breakfast, which would have been nice if it had. The hotel also has an indoor pool, but it wasn't heated as claimed. It's just normal room temperature, which during winter, still was a little chilly to take a dip. Hotel also had a small gym and sauna too. Location wise is very accessible, since it was opposite Coles Supermaket, and also near to the Airbus terminal to airport. Free tram and bus rides within the CBD made travelling very easy. Only bad thing that happened during my 3 night stay was the Cable TV ran into major problem and I was left with no cable service for 2 nights. But since I was out most of the time, it didn't really matter. Overall, quite a good hotel.

    « Weekend away »

The hotel is very central close to most things in the city. Shopping centre across the road and eateries within walking distance . The hotel itself was very clean , the staff friendly couldn't fault it . Went for a swim in the morning which was a great start to the day . I will definitely be going back when in Melbourne . The room was great .

    « Relaxing getaway »

Great place to stay, close to everything in the city. Nice comfortable room and bed. Good pool, sauna and gym. I liked the on site car parking, safe and secure. All for a very good price. Walking distance to southern cross station and etihad stadium.

« Good Service but NO FOXTEL »

This is a nice hotel at the western end of the City. Transport is excellent with Trams and Trains at your door, including the Skybus from the Airport. Cost wise it was very reasonable. I had a view from my room which was nice. A good sized, heated Pool was also good. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Car parking was good, plenty of spots that were good sized. BUT NO FOXTEL was a great dissappointment. Might not stay again because of this.

    4
    « Great option »

Easy access from southern cross station and trams go right past so was easy to get everywhere. Very clean and well set out room. Bed was one of the most comfortable I had stayed in in a hotel for a while. Pillows and blankets just right. Only downsides were that it was a bit light in the room (needed curtains not blinds) and there was no mini bar. It would be perfect if you need access to Etihad stadium though.

    « No Fuss Accommodation »

Stayed for one night at the Best Western, Spencer St. This is a very practical, no fuss hotel that does the job and isn't over priced. We had a 2 bed room, both rooms had a wardrobe and tv. Communal tea/coffee station and bathroom. Only hiccup was that the bathroom door had trouble closing properly. Rooms aren't too compact, but as expected, there are no fancy features or 5 star luxuries. Location is also very practical being right across the road from Spencer St Station. All in all nothing to complain about and would definitely recommend as budget accommodation.

    5
« Great location, great bed »

Stayed for five nights at a pretty good price. Our room was clean and neat. Close to southern cross station, takeaways, coles supermarket, trams, pharmacy and dfo's in Spencer st and easy stroll into main part of cbd. Our bed ,pillows and bedding was super comfortable, great comfy sleep. The breakfast room was great too and free in our package deal! , free wifi was faultless . Pool looked good too but we didn't have time to use it. Staff were always friendly and helpful. Nothing negative to say ,we would definitely stay here again when visiting Melbourne!

    « Great location »

1 stayed 2 nights had the ARBS trade show on for work in the convention centre , only a 15min walk away in same street . Modern clean basic room comfy bed and great shower . Good Cafe's , restaurants and bars minutes walk around the block and train station and shops, supermarket ,bottle shop across the road. I would stay again for the price .

« An excellent hotel, but......... »

This is quite a nice and comfortable hotel. It looks recently renovated as all furnishings and fittings look new. It is very centrally located in the city, with most city features within walking distance. In this case, the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre was 20 mins walk away. Not worth driving when it is so close. Parking, directly under the hotel at a good price is a real bonus. The reception staff were excellent and the process was smooth. Air conditioning was quiet and worked well. Breakfast was a limited menu but very good and excellent value. But there were problems: 1. T.V. didn't work. Rang reception who said they would send someone up to rescan it to the hotels network, but that didn't happen. 2. The cold water in the bathroom gets scalding hot for about 2 minutes after you turn it on. Looks like the new plumbing has been connected incorrectly. 3. There is no restaurant, but they have an arrangement with a nearby restaurant, "il Sole" ..... well they did. The guide says you can order and charge it to your room and they will deliver it. Rang the restaurant, they don't do the item from the menu that I wanted, but they have a replacement. OK I go for that. Didn't mention that all the other things with it were different as well. Instead of Rib eye with mashed sweet potato, peas & corn, ended up with a nice Porterhouse steak with chips in a foil container and a plastic container of salad on the side. And it still cost $35.00 and you can't bill it your room anymore. The catering arrangements need a serious revamp. Would I stay again, for sure, but I would like to see a few issues resolved.

    « Overnight stay »

The hotel is easily accessible by car. The location was perfect for a dinner we attended around the corner and for access to the Car Park. The room was spacious and very clean. Check In and Check Out were very quick and efficient. The only issue we see is that there are only two choices of hot food at breakfast - scrambled eggs and baked beans. A little more variety would be good, perhaps add bacon!

    4
    « VERY COMFORTABLE »

The hotel was welcoming, the staff were really helpful and the room was clean and airy. Car parking was $15 a night which was OK considering the location. The breakfast was a bit disappointing - a good variety of cereals, juices and fruit, but the hot component was beans and scrambled egg.......not what we were expecting - where's the bacon????

    4
    « Great location! »

our stay here was pretty good. We stayed for 3 nights. The staff were quite helpful. The location was great as it was very close to the tram station. so we had no trouble getting around. Didn't use the pool facility wish it was heated though. The room was pretty good. Would stay there again.

    3
« Good value for the price »

We chose a basic room for an overnight stay between flights. It was clean and comfortable, staff were friendly and I had no issues with dust mite allergies which is my measure of cleanliness. would stay again

    4
    « consistantly good »

This was my third stay here for a night in Melbourne and I was just as happy this time as the others. I arrived thinking I'd booked online only to find that I had somehow missed a step in the process and they weren't expecting me. Staff were helpful and sorted me with another room and remained cheerful throughout. The room was clean, bed comfortable and the bathroom fresh (great shower), pretty much everything I look for in a room. I struggle to manage the aircon settings and the exhaust fan in bathroom does sound like a plane taking off, but these are minor details.

    3
    « Average for 4 star. »

Having paid $120 for a room which included breakfast, I probably wont be staying here again. The receptionist seemed to be quite bothered about the fact that I had made the booking through agoda which was then sent to bookings.com. Asking if I had already paid and for me to check my bank statement is a little bit unprofessional in my view. Regardless, the room itself was good and the beds were comfy. Location isnt bad being a 5 minute walk from southern cross station. The breakfast however was a let down. Cold beans and powdered eggs? Its 2016 not 1991.

« Comfortable room at a good price with breakfast »

Very comfortable and clean - probably one of the quietest hotels I have stayed at in Melbourne! Facilities included a mini fridge which was most welcome. My accommodation package included breakfast in their dining room, which consisted of a selection of breads, cereals and 2 hot options (it was scrambled eggs and baked beans for all 5 days I was there). Close to the trams going to Melboune Central, but note that the trams on LaTrobe st seem to stop around 6.30pm so after that you have to wait for the night trams on Bourke St.

    5
    « Can't fault a thing »

To find fault you must be picky but I can't find any... I was welcomed by the girls at the desk and service was great..The room 1123 was huge and great shower ,had everything you need for a motel room. Bed was very comfortable, pillows were great, provided a hairdryer and the usual tea and coffee. Can't believe the all you can eat continental breakfast it was very good and included in price. Enjoy your stay I did ????????

    5
    « Central and quiet »

Will be back, clean, great staff easy to get too from spencer st station access to Melbourne central shopping etc best of all great night sleep ideal for family, business, overnight or even a weekly stay. 16 minute walk to the Melbourne convention centre and crown if that is what u desire. Come and stay .

    « Comfortable »

Needed one night in Melbourne between flights and got this hotel at a good price. room had everything needed and was comfortable with a reasonable amount of room, has the breakfast which has a limited range of food but is only $12 so not expensive and food provided was fine. location across from the main station is excellent as bus to airport leaves from here. to sum up nothing wrong with the hotel and I enjoyed my night here.

    5
    « Excellent »

I spent only one night in this hotel, but it was really comfortable and quiet during the night. excellent the location in front of the station! Great the staff, and clean room. excellent value for money.

    « Great Value »

This hotel is situated in the CBD and close to the Southern Cross railway station which connects the CBD with all suburban and country stations. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms for a lower priced hotel are well appointed and of a comfortable size. Our room rate included breakfast and although it was only basic it was more than enough to get through to lunch time. There is a tram stop just outside the hotel so we were able to make good use of the free tram in the CBD area. They don't have a restaurant for dinner,r but there are plenty of eating options within walking distance and if you are looking for entertainment Crown Casino is only a 15 to 20 min walk

    3
    « Value for money »

I'll start by saying that I'm usually a budget to mid range traveller, I'd rather spend my money when I'm out of the hotel. That said, Best Western Atlantis has everything you need and for what you're charged, I haven't found many others in Melbourne that can compare if you're wanting to stay in the CBD. What didn't work for me on this trip was that the TV signal wasn't working and when I checked in, I was sent to three rooms in a row that already had people in them. Whilst I was offered complimentary breakfast, they still tried to charge it to my room upon checkout (clearly communication isn't their strength at the Best Western). I'd stay there again and if anything I'd probably utilise the breakfast buffet given its so cheap (only $12). Hopefully they sort their issues out with their booking system. Don't expect over the top amenities but if you're spending time in the CBD and flying into Melbourne, it really is in a great spot directly across from Spencer St Station.

« Great Location, very clean but rooms could be better »

Stayed here for two days while visiting my sister, and stayed here as it is perfectly centered in the city, right across the street from the free tram. The location is amazing but the room had its Windows blocked and could have used some sunlight. They are very spacious and clean however could use an update. I would stay here again tho for the connivence of the location.

    5
« Great spot to stay »

We stayed at the Atlantic again last night. This motel is cheap ($116 on WOTIF) for a city view queen bed room. The rooms are a good size with a sofa and desk. Bar fridge doesn't have anything except milk and white wine glasses which suit us fine. Tea and coffee is supplied. This is a no frills hotel but so comfy. Pillows are great, Beds are great, room dark and quiet. Getting here is simple if you're coming from south west Victoria. There's a 5 minute parking bay out the front of the hotel. You simply reverse about 2 meters to drive into the car park and it's a good size parking area for you to choose from. Parking is $15 per night and you can come and go as you please and if you're staying here to shop or have meetings you can leave your car for the whole day even if you've checked out without it costing any more! The staff are very friendly and efficient and happy to assist you with anything you need. The gym is clean and has all of the things you would want. It even has a heated pool. I've rated it 5 out of 5 for the value for money, the cleanliness and the amenities. Well done to all of the staff including the housekeeping staff!

« Good value hotel for a couple of nights. »

This hotel is well located for spencer street station and docklands. Especially useful for a stop over between long distance trains. The hotel is only good value if you get the rooms on a non refundable saver rate. At full price there are better options in Melbourne. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable. I had a queen room with docklands view.

« Good hotel in good location »

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. Check in was easy and very fast, staff were helpful. The room is nice, clean and spacious. The location is also very good, very close to Southern Cross train station, outlet mall, coles and sky bus stop for Melbourne airport.

« Room So So, just good location and price. Easy to get Spring Water 1.5L only 0.7AUD »

The best of this hotel is good location and price. The City Tram No.35 stop at Spencer St. Station that beside and near the hotel. The great way to get Coles Spring Water 1.5L only 0.7AUD at Coles supermarket that opposite the hotel near Southern Cross Station. Easy to go DFO South Wharf with city tram No.35, Docklands park-stop D4, and walks across the Webb bridge. The room and service so so, the dust and dirtiness under sofa. Door deadlock and tissue hanger was broken.

« My 3 days stay in Melbourne »

Room was clean, but no microwave , used their cups but the cleaner forgot to clean it and it was dirty, The breakfast is so boring, you have the same food everyday . eggs, beans, cereals, coffee or tea , apple or orange juice and then you get an apple for fruit. I won't stay there for a week . There are a few of the staff there aren't very friendly , didn't even say thank you for staying with us. But there is one girl who is very helpful, her name is Kate, she is very polite. Thanks for being nice and making me comfy.

« Fine when things work, no service recovery when things go bad »

This is my usual go-to hotel in Melbourne. Cheap, in a handy location, and normally clean and no fuss. Unfortunately this time there were problems. Upon checking into my room, I was told that I didn't have a reservation. After showing them my fully paid for confirmation with Agoda, they told me they only had a few rooms left - and put me in a Cityview Room. The room had a loud buzzing noise. After going back down to Reception, they told me that other guests had complained about it and were reassigned. Not sure why they then allocated it to me. The next room wasn't much better - a twin room with a tiny window. The carpet was damp, and fans were set up on the ground to dry it out. Being so tired, I took this room for the night. The next morning, I was thankfully able to get into the Docklands Queen which I had booked and paid for for the next two nights. There was no apology or service recovery offered by the staff at all. Their attitude made me feel like I was an inconvenience. When things go to plan at this hotel, it's absolutely fine for the money. As soon as anything goes wrong - you're on your own.

    « Clean & Comfortable »

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and wasn't disappointed, the room was spacious, beds comfortable, modern clean bathroom and staff friendly. Close to restaurants shops, Southern Cross train station, Etihad Stadium & public transport. 15 min walk to the casino. Did not have breakfast there so cannot comment on it overall very happy would stay again.

« with my family, not so happy »

we stayed for 2 days with my mom and sister from Tazmania, we check in late that day and i thing the front office attendant is not so happy to see us. we have a Queen size bed and 2 single beds the room size was good but there was an unpleasant door on the room that made us uncomfortable. we ask the reception for help but took them like 30 mins to attend on us.

    « Vacation stay »

We stayed 3 nights at the Best Western Atlantis, known as the Atlantis hotel. It is in a nice location very near to the bus station. Thus it was easy to walk to the bus station to take a bus to the Airport. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and the rooms were nice. The service was very good.

    « great location..clean and tidy. »

Will definately stay again! Clean, great location, handy to everything especially if you don't have a car..Casino walking distance, Southern Cross Station, shopping, Etihad stadium all in vicinity of hotel.

« No fuss. Just what I needed »

The room was clean and comfortable. Nice bathroom. It is not fancy. But great. Close to everything. Breakfast not over the top bit again I found it great. Quiet. Public transport right there. Close to the big bus hub to get the shuttle to the airport. Thumbs up from me.

    4
« Far from perfect but I'm happy »

Location is perfect although it's not located in the CBD. It's next to Southern Cross Train Station, within the free tram zone, with supermarket and shopping center just across the road. Rooms are quiet, no construction or traffic noise could be heard. However, I suspect the walls are quite thin as I could hear people coughing next door. Be warned about their breakfast, it's a bit of a rip off. One major thing that pissed my partner was they don't change the bed sheets! I was told the bed sheets would be changed every 3 days. On our 4th days of stay, they just simple turned around the sheets to make it like new. I guess it's a common practice that hotels do not change the sheets too often, are they? The hotel also allow you to leave your bags with them on your check-out day. It really helps me as my flight home was at night. I do recommend this hotel and I will certainly come back.

    4
    « A weekend for two »

This is the second time my husband and I stayed at this hotel. Both times we have been really happy with our stay. We travelled from Bendigo and it is an easy drive to get there and great to be able to park the car. My husband likes the gym and I like being able to walk across the road to DFO. It's a nice walk or tram to get to Crown Casino and South Bank. A really convenient location. The accommodation is perfect for the price. The room has everything you need and is clean and tidy. I like getting a room with a window overlooking Spencer St.

    5
    « Fantastic amenities »

A lovely, handy, comfortable place to stay, will definitely be back if I have the need. Close to Spencer St Station [Southern Cross] with tram access not far from the front door. A ramp in addition to steps to access the hotel which I've not seen at other places, a definate bonus.Quick and easy check in and check out, lovely facilities and surroundings.

    3
« Reasonable, but improvements needed »

This room was fine for our 1 night stay close to everything and room was clean. But temperature control was non existant and the fan was very loud. The television was ancient no dvd player or hdmi. No wifi and very poor phone reception. Why the shower does not have a door is beyond me. Parking was as expected for cbd at 15 pn but very tight. Little improvements here and there are needed but fine if you're only in the city for a night or two.

    4
    « Convenient location »

Convenient location to Etihad Stadium, trams , trains and the express skybus. To get to the MCG go over to Southern Cross station and platform 9 for a train straight to Jolimont station. Staff extremely helpful and obliging.Hotel is priced well and the rooms while basic for furnishings are comfortable and spacious. I stayed for 3 nights and apart from the bins being emptied , the bed cover being pulled up and the towels replaced I don't believe any other cleaning was undertaken.

    « Stonewalled by reception »

Booked a room online. There were three options all at the same price. Picked the one that had the larger size. On checkin front staff informed me this was a handicapped room. Ok. When we entered the room there was no window and therefore no cell coverage. I called front staff and asked if we could change to another room. The answer was no we are completely booked. Check tomorrow before 10am to see if one is available. Went to an area with cell coverage and found the same room available online and two cheaper for that night. I then went down to reception to see what could be done and the story changed a little. Since booked online they couldn't put me in a room that wasn't allocated to the booking company as they would lose money??? Then I was offered an upgrade at $14 extra which was one of the selections online that was cheaper!! Finally they gave me the toll free number to the online company which could not help me because the site I used was their Canadian branch. Finally I made an overseas call to get the room changed The whole process took an hour. I found the front staff unhelpful untruthful and argumentative Not pleased with this whole affair

    « Very Clean & Comfortable »

Stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and for a 3 star rating it is a very good hotel. The beds were very comfortable, modern & clean bathroom the room was serviced every day with clean bed sheets & bath towels. Air conditioner worked well, the room was quiet from the outside noise. Close to shops, cafes & restaurants & also the Southern Cross train station. The only down side was the WI FI you can only get it for two hours and then you have to log in again, but that wasn't an issue. The room was very spacious good value for money definitely stay again.

    4
    « Convenient and affordable »

Right next to the city circle free tram route and close to southern cross station you can't get much more convenient then this... And at about 110 aud a night and a sizable room.. this is really the smart choice. Skip the breakfast though. You're in Melbourne cbd . You can do better then cereal baked beans and scrambled eggs

    4
« Clean and easy proximity to train and sky bus »

I stayed with my 1yr old. It was clean and tidy and fresh. It took over 2 hours for a porta cot to be bought up to the room, even though it was requested upon making the booking. Breakfast was simple but no variety of milks for the someone like myself who can not have milk and only has soy milk. Went to go for a swim in there pool, it certainly wasnt warm it was quiet cool. Otherwise it was only a 2 minute walk to the train station, skybus as well as coles and spencer street shops. 5min walk to the queen victoria market.

« All good except for smell in a bathroom »

Pros: Central location: 200 meters from Southern Cross train terminal and SkyBus Good value for money (that's 3.5 stars hotel, definitely slightly better than just 3*) Contras: Terrible smell of sewage in a bathroom. Check-out time is 10am - too early.

    4
« Great value budget hotel »

Clean, good facilities and close to the red (airport) bus, trains, trams and supermarket make this a great value choice for a short stay in Melbourne. It's not the Ritz but it's a good choice if you're just looking for budget accomodation in a safe location.

    5
« Cheap and nice hotel »

The staff is really nice and helpful. The breakfast is just ok. There are better places in the city. The room was only $77 USD. Its a nice room that was really clean. You don't expect that for $77 USD. It's located in the heart of the city. All the main bars and restaurants are a 10 minute uber or taxi ride away.

    « Conference Trip »

The room was a good size the bed was lumpy and spring was sticking out the side of mattress the blind would not open and the water in shower was cold and not clean, it was not worth eating the breakfast. It was close to spencer street station.

Straight forward hotel. Inexpensive but offers quality rooms. Location is great with a 10 min walk into the city. Offers parking for $15 per night. Italian Restaurant next door offers delivered meals. Breakfast buffet for $12 is simple.

« Unremarkable hotel. Ridiculous bedding meant we couldn't sleep. »

Our room was clean. Moderately comfortable queen-size bed, a desk and a small sofa. A couple of prints hung on the wall; one with cracked glass. Bathroom was fairly small, although the shower felt spacious. Toilet cistern had a cracked lid. The really stupid thing about our room was that the only covering was a fairly warm and heavy doona/duvet, with no top sheet. This meant that we could only sleep either under the doona (far too hot on a warm autumn night) or with no covering at all. We tried playing with the air-con to establish a happy medium but without any success - we were always either too hot (under the doona) or too cold (no covering). The result was that we both slept really poorly and I awoke several times bathed in perspiration. Not a great night. Breakfast was pretty unexciting - a few cereals, toast and some scrambled eggs and baked beans in a bain marie. No stewed fruits, bircher meusli or pastries, as you often find. Overall, we were very underwhelmed (and very tired) after our stay.

« Great Location Price and Very Clean »

Located on Spencer Street, Melbourne, just up from Southern Cross station and easy access via free trams all over the city. Friendly and helpful staff greet you as you arrive. Very clean room, though surprised that only a shampoo and conditioner offered in bathroom with soap. No shower hat, which I missed. Noisy fridge in room and previous person had been a smoker, though room well cleaned, I still reacted as allergic to smoke residue. Swimming pool cool, not as hot as expected, but still bearable though one lady did take quite a time to get in! Brilliant car parking for out of towners like ourselves. Breakfast bare essentials though 2 hot dishes. Only one staff member seemed to be working at breakfast room others stood around chatting.

    « Clean,central and modern! »

Stayed at the Best Western for 3 nights. In arrival, which was late, nught reception check us in quickly, but had no real customer service, no explination on facilities, where and when breakfast was and in general, none of the usual niceties expected. Room its self was a good size, very clean and new. It was however very bland and boring with no personality. Breakfast was normal buffet style, continental, but there was scrambled eggs and baked beans, overall a good selection. Hotel is just across the road from Etihad stadium and the train and bus station are just 5 min walk, city centre itself is a good 10-15 min walk depending on how fast you walk. Overall this hotel was fine for a short stay, just need to give that extra in customer service!

« Tidy and ideally situated »

Nice place to stay if you want to rely on public transport, its handy to bus, train and trams. The hotel has all the features you require, rooms are comfortable and basic. There is nothing very flash about this place but it is good value when you consider how close you are to the centre of Melbourne.

« Close to Ethiad Stadium »

This hotel is centrally located to Spencer Street Station, trams and Ethiad Stadium. The room was modern, clean, tidy and comfortable. The room was quiet. We stayed two nights. The staff were friendly and helpful. We walked everywhere or caught the tram. The local Pho restaurant was great. The free city tram was a very short walk at the end of the street. The Skyway bus to and from the Airport leaves from Spencer Street Station. And don't forget the discount shopping at Spencer Street. Only problem was the depth of the pool or the length of my legs! We took a dip but because I couldn't touch the bottom, it wasn't very relaxing. Our Grandview Room looked over the rail yards and Ethiad Stadium but we could see hills in the gaps between the high rise buildings.

« Stayed here during a work trip »

Spent the week here during a recent work trip. Whilst I basically only used the room to sleep in it was well cleaned every day and proved to be a great place to stay as there were no noises from the street below. A 10 minute walk in almost any direction meant plenty of places to eat were nearby and 2 supermarkets close by were useful also.

    « First time visit »

We were in Melbourne for a short 2 day stop before heading to the Bendigo area. The hotel reception was neat and clean. The counter attendant when we arrived was very helpful and energetic, unlike many we have met. Easy check in and quick as one wants. The room is totally adequate and clean. Bed was confutable, the A/C set at a lovely 23.5, as opposed to most that like to try and freeze you. House keeping were nice and helpful. There was a little noise from outside, but not that bad. Checkout was ok, but tried to charge us for a breakfast we didn't have. Will be returning in September with friends and will stay here. Only down's The tap in bathroom sink leaked the whole time - reported it. The safe didn't work, we reported it and were advised it would be fixed, some change had been made, however, it still didn't work.

    « Enjoyed the place »

We were there from the 6 - 9 March. We took 2 rooms and both rooms were as advertised and promised. It was clean and was serviced each day. For the money we paid I expected nothing more. The rooms were cheaper and better than those we had in the US.The staff were very customer oriented and amazing. They took the trouble to check events worth attending and even recommended a great jazz club and fine dining. Thanks guys. Will be back.

    « Great value »

This hotel is very reasonable for city prices but does not stint on quality of room and service. The bed is extremely comfortable. The air conditioning is adjustable so you can choose a level that suits you. The bathroom was small but clean. The shower was excellent - good pressure and great temperature control. I will definitely be back.

« Located near Southern Cross Station »

Second stay here.... Positives: quiet, clean, modern, fantastic breakfast with plenty of delicious foods to choose from, good value for money room all in all. Negatives: bed rather sinky and uncomfortable, feather pillows are the worst...terrible. Smoke coming through air conditioning into room from smokers puffing away from air intake maybe?? Gross

    4
    « Simple and nice »

Nice rooms, nice staff, great air-conditioner, cheap parking and good bed. Overall a very good experience. The only fault I could find with the whole stay was low water pressure in the shower, however the shower itself was great and water nice and hot.

    « great stay »

location was great, near southern cross station and It was near skybus counter. the staff was friendly and really helpful, clean, and comfort room. I would stay here again if I come back to melbourne.

« not up to standard »

seeing I have stayed many times with you. This time was not as good.I i had booked a a month before for a room and view to westgate bridge etc how ever the big police sign was all one could see and it lit up the room, on arrival with my confirmed paper they tried to say no breakfast but it was on the booking then asked for deposit which i had given a secured no when booked direct over the phone it turned out ok with breakfast but not happy with the room on the 17th floor

« Awesome location, everything you need. »

Everything was great, a comfy room and comfy bed, air con, all the basic things you expect for your comforts, and the cleaners did a nice job as well. The location is perfect if you want to stay right near town close to Southern Cross Station where the skybus takes you from the airport, there's also a supermarket and liquor store over the road. From here you can have a nice walk in any direction and find so many awesome things to eat and do.

« Decent hotel good location »

Staff really friendly & it's a great location close to transport connections & great dining on the riverside restaurants nearby The hotel has pool & leisure facilities which are ok & I made use of - the reception staff were great really helpful & friendly I didn't realise when I book a room without a view ( I thought that meant it didn't have river view etc it had no external window at all - no natural daylight & I hated that especially when trying to adjust body lock & jet lag to Oz time but my fault for booking that room category & not checking !! I wouldn't stay in that category room again ! But I would stay at the hotel again

    « Good Value »

Convenient position near train station and terminal for airport buses. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Limited selection of TV stations - no cable and several of the newer free-to-air stations not available.

    « Good overnighter »

It was a Short walk from the skybus we arrived very early in the morning. Very lovely and pleasant staff, clean, neat and comfortable bed. Very happy with the room and a good price. Would love to see 11am checkout as a suggestion for improvement.

    « Great Location »

The rooms were nice and clean and cleaned daily. % mins in the room we noticed the safe was not working, reported this and they said it would be fixed in the afternoon. Next day still not fixed and given assurance it would be fixed. 5 days on still not fixed. The staff were really not interested and a slightly on the rude side.

    4
    « Great Location »

I booked an Executive Queen room via the internet, on arrival I was informed of an upgrade, I believe this was an upgrade to a window facing Spencer Street. The room was very spacious and the bed was super comfortable. The shower grout could do with a good bleach but otherwise was clean. Breakfast was included, Baked bean scrambled eggs and lots of cereals and a variety of toasts. Basic but plenty. The staff were very helpful. Self parking is available but cannot be booked $15 which is very reasonable.

    2
    « No view »

As you can see sold a room with grand views well you judge for yourself. Arrived Friday night we were staying two night left hotel Saturday morning got back late Saturday afternoon to find our room was not cleaned and was not going to be cleaned until we left on Sunday so we are charged extra for a Saturday night stay and the room was not cleaned not happy.

    « I Love Lucy »

No not the TV show though I do luv that, but Lucy the receptionist at the Atlantis Hotel. A very engaging and courteous young lady with a genuine and sincere welcoming disposition whilst maintaining the integrity of her position. This greeting added to the enjoyment of our stay here while attending the Military Tattoo. The convenience of the Hotel to the surrounding event fixtures is most welcome and it is serviced by the Free City Circle Trams and other tram services that'll take you just about anywhere in Melbourne. The room was spacious though the small window only revealed the cavity between our wing and the one next to it but hey we were there too sleep and enjoyed a couple of comfortable nights. We booked about 8 months in advance and scored a terrific rate with complimentary brekkie and were most surprised at the value considering it was Valentines weekend, the Tattoo was on as well as it happened to be Chinese New year so believe me when I say Melbourne was just about at full capacity. I would definitely return to the Atlantis and highly recommend it for it's access to all of the best things you may wish to take in in Melbourne if you can't make it to Sydney.

    « Overnighter »

An easy access central place to rest the head while passing through. Although the price a little steep for what you recieve, we only needed to stay in the room to sleep!! Because there is too much else to do in this fantastic city!! Used the sauna and pool which were clean and in working order.

    « Holiday base »

Used this hotel on 3 separate occasions during our stay in Australia. All the rooms were booked in the uk prior to travel. It was very easy and quick. Very reasonably priced. Hotel had a buffet style breakfast which was adequate if not spectacular. Your hot choice was either scrambled eggs or baked beans. There was cereal, fruit yoghurt etc. Did not do evening meals, which was not an issue. Rooms we had were spacious and comfortable for what we needed. Cleaned and fresh towels everyday. Staff very helpful. No real complaints. Situated close to city centre with tram stop outside.

I'm from Adelaide and decided to visit Melbourne for my boyfriends birthday. - Greeted by lovely and welcoming staff - Decent room on level 11 - Big room, comfortable bed - No room service but restaurant next door offers delivery - Nice bathroom, big shower but fan above it was freezing

    « Conveniently located »

Stayed on a Saturday night so we could go to see Georgy Girl. Room was quite spacious and well presented. Our Grand View room faced the Spencer Street rail yards but there was no noise from there or the street below (we were on the 16th floor) other than the odd emergency vehicle siren. Only gripes I have is the window blind was faulty and could not be opened. We could raise/lower it but not open it. When the bar fridge started running during the night it made quite a noise (sounded like someone opening our door). The other thing is the grout in the shower could do with being hit with some bleach. Breakfast was quite good, but only Continental, not Full Continental, so no bacon, mushrooms etc. The breakfast area was clean and tidy. Had a nice indoor pool and gym area. Very well priced and would stay again. Very convenient to Spencer Street railway station, trams and Coles as well as restaurants and take-away food stores.

    « Overpriced Budget Hotel »

They have increased Prices by 20% plus but, the Consumer Price Index has only gone up 2.1%. Not enough lighting, Breakfast Menu has not changed in about eight years. Rooms that have a concrete block view are still charged the normal rate as a room with a view.

« Best Western Atlantis Melbourne Australia »

Great location, service, room. I had one major complaint the wifi was abysmal. I could not get any connection in the room despite the claim of free wifi. I could only get wifi in the lobby of the hotel. They wanted $15 a day for wifi that works in your room. Every other hotel that I have stayed at no longer charges for wifi. You can get free wifi in your room. Since I am from the USA I need to get connected with wifi to stay in touch at home. For this reason I would not stay at this hotel again.

« Value for money hotel on NYE in good location »

Stayed here for NYE and paid $150 Aud for the night for 2 people which considering it was NYE was very good value for money. Location was excellent - centrally within CBD. Rooms were big and beds comfortable. Check in and check out was fast and staff were helpful. Would recommend for a good hotel that's value for money.

« Not fancy, but totally workable »

We have stayed at this hotel twice while in Melbourne. Both times, we have been perfectly satisfied with the experience. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable, breakfast is good (not extravagant, but good) and the location is fantastic. Just down the street from Hardware Lane, Crown Casino, and many other local attractions. Also Melbourne CBD has a great system of streetcars which within a specific area are free. Easy to use, well marked and there is a stop just outside this hotel.

    « Good location »

We spent one night here as it was handy for Etihad Stadium. The room was large and comfortable and had free wifi. The free tram and others were close by and it was handy to Southern Cross and a large outlet shopping centre. If you arrive on the Skybus it is only a short walk to the hotel. Breakfast was fairly basic but plenty of it and sufficient. All up, worth staying here.

    « Health Hazard »

Paid $300 for one night in what was supposed to be a 4* rated hotel. It was close to Etihad stadium so that was good. The room was small but appeared to be tidy. Carpet worn, sofa a bit grubby but nothing too bad until we went to go to bed. Our quilt was filthy, covered in stains and what appeared to be blood. It was yellow and clearly stained with goodness knows what. Obviously that was taken off the bed and placed on the floor. We took photos the next morning so that we could show the receptionist upon our departure. To my surprise the reply I got was "Sorry, BUT you could have called us and we would have brought you another one". It should never have been put on the bed in the first place. Looks like it had never ever been washed and most probably has been on the bed for years. Anyway we will never stay there again as our health is worth more than that hotel. Quite disgusted in the whole experience, especially the receptionist who, quite frankly, couldn't give a damn. I will upload a couple of photos so you can see for yourself.

    « Quite happy »

We stayed over night on Saturday, we are arrived very early at 12.30pm and our room was ready for us, checkin was easy, quick and friendly, the room was on the top floor and we had a lovely view over the city, the room was fairly big and the bed comfortable, the aircon was self controlled which we like. As we had an end room we didn't experience any noise in the hallway by other quests this was a big bonus. The hotel is in a great location close to Spencer street shops, everything in room we needed milk, tea, coffee, glasses, ironing board and iron, hairdryer. Would stay again.

    « poor timing »

arriving at the motel at 0900am we were told that we could not access our room untill 0200pm, i did request and early bookin as i knew i we would be arriving early. we had to wonder the streets of melbourne untill we were let in to our room. My room number was 25 but the key i was given opened another room as well as mine. I can't see myself staying at this hotel again.

    « Atlantis Hotel Review »

This hotel is reasonable value and very handy to Spencer St Station and Edihad Stadium. The room was a reasonable size but had NO external windows. Felt like an inside cabin on a cruise ship. If offered a room number finishing with ..29, ask for another room. Bathroom is small and only has hanging hook for one towel and nowhere to hand the shower mat, except over the door.

    « Our Stay »

We were extremely pleased with this accommodation. Roomy and comfortable as well as quiet. Adjacent to CBD but nicely out of the hustle and bustle of the inner CBD. We would definitely stay there again as well as recommend it to others.

    4
« Comfortable stay in a good location »

This hotel has spacious rooms that are clean and comfortable. The indoor pool is great along with the sauna. Staff were friendly on arrival and checkout. The location is handy being close to the wharf, DFO, Melbourne Star and Harbour Town among other things. A continental breakfast is available and has standard breakfast foods like cereal, yoghurt and toast but nothing special. I would recommend going out to one of Melbourne's many great cafes instead for breakfast.

    5
« Best Western; Best Experience »

I was booked into this hotel due to its proximity to both Southern Cross Station and Etihad Stadium. What a great surprise it was. This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in in recent times. Not only was the service brilliant, but the staff helped direct us to various places of interest and restaurants as well. Located close to Docklands it made for an easy walk down to the harbour and, interesting scenes as well as good food outlets and restaurants. I fully intend to return to this hotel when next in Melbourne

    3
« Good location, baisc amenities »

We had a twin room - fairly spacious, but only one small window which looked out onto a concrete wall. Beds were comfy, bathroom small but well appointed. No minbar - not even water, which meant going back down to the lobby to a vending machine. Staff were friendly and helpful. No onsite restaurant, although they do have a breakfast room Mon-fri which we didn't try. Room service is available from the restaurant next door.

    2
    « Nothing worked »

I was a bit disappointed by this hotel, aircon was stuck on 26 degrees (I like a cold room), TV remote didn't work, bed was aged and lumpy in some spots, pillows were flat. There wasn't much water pressure so shower was a bit weak. I booked this hotel as it was close to Etihad Stadium for the Tattoo, Tram stops near by and Coles across the road was good as no minibar. Breakfast bar was a bit understocked for choice for $12 as Code 3 café across the road you could get a bacon, eggs, hash browns and a coffee for $14. Staff were very friendly.

    3
« Basic but decent sized and well-located hotel »

I stayed there twice because I'm a BW Platinum member and wanted to get the most out of my membership. Although I was, apparently, granted an upgrade, the room was pretty basic, with little decoration and plain white walls. It was fine though, I did like that it had a fridge, and my room was decently sound-proofed. I got free wifi because of my status, but do note that others have to pay, which I think is unreasonable in the 21st century. The first set of staff I dealt with were super friendly - the guy I met on the second stay wasn't quite as friendly. I didn't have breakfast, but it was reasonably affordable. There is no room service or an on-site restaurant (it's only open for breakfast), which was a bummer. I would choose somewhere else to stay if I were in Melbourne, but if you're on a budget and low-maintenance, it's a fine option.

    3
    « ADEQUATE ATLANTIS »

Hotel very well located within easy walking distance of the city, airport bus, etc. Basic buffet breakfast available $12 but no restaurant ,bar or café in hotel. Pool small and in dismal room. Bedroom excellent but no shower cap provided.

« No complaints all good. »

Booked 2 rooms and were placed along side each other which was great. They were in the new tower. Rooms were modern clean comfortable. Bathroom was small but adequate. Breakfast was included and was basic ( cereal, toast, egg and baked beans, yogurt) but for what we paid quite acceptable. Had a window that looked at car park and football stadium but then we weren't there to look out of the window. Staff were friendly and cooperative. I booked through the desk direct for Sat night and then website to get cheapest rate for other nights, so bookings had to be linked. Had no hassle. Considering it was Australian open time the rates were remarkably cheap at $150. Had no complaints at paying $15 night for car parking. Had paid double at other leading name hotels. So if u want convenience of location, a comfortable stylish hotel room, at a good price, can recommend this place. Our experience definitely was positive and we would return. Hint would be check website prices before phoning and comparing prices. Website does outline description of the rooms, so research first so u avoid booking a twin or windowless room.

    « I stay frequently ( 50 times a year approx. ) at the Atlantis. »

Combined experience over the last 3 years are positive. Interestingly after so many stays, I have never meet the Manager or owner. If it would be my Hotel, I would know my best customers. To make up for this, I can say the Hotel is value for money. To make up for this even more is the friendly staff in particular Ashley stands out and Jerad is also very helpful.

« Over night business stay »

rooms was clean and quiet. Plenty of car parking at an affordable rate. One thing that I did not like being a non-smoker was the smell of smoke that was on level 11. Not sure where the smoking rooms were, but the smell was heavy in the corridors and slight smell in the room

« An excellent place to stay »

An excellent place to stay great location just outside the Southern Cross Station where the airport buss drops you off, the rooms were clean with room to move even had a love lounge for 2,all in all the best value for money in Melbourne, the wife said one of the quietest rooms weve had in Oz

    3
    « Basic modern hotel »

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel. My check-in was mucked up and they only had me staying for 2 nights instead of the 3 I had booked. Anyway, this was sorted very quickly blaming the online booking company for the problem. My room was on the 10 floor and the view I had was of a light well. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was of a good size, but the shower did need a good clean. There was quite a bit of mould over quite an area in the shower which I reported after the first night. It was still there when I left after 3 nights. Unfortunate incident that we had to evacuate the building at about 8am on a Sunday morning due to a fire in an air conditioner in the breakfast room. This was handled well by the staff and the fire brigade. Unfortunately no apology to guests was forthcoming - not that I saw anyway. Also my access are to the room didn't work on the 2nd day when I returned to the hotel. Apparently at check-in they had only set it up for 1 night! Would I stay again - probably not

« Great... Until The Fire, With NO Compensation, NEVER Going Back! »

As soon as we walked in the door, my boyfriend and I were very trilled with the entrance, the staff were lovely, the pictures on the website were exactly what was there and the bed was sooooo comfortable. We had a great night out with friends at Luna Park and I went to sleep straight away. Got woken up at 8am by a "EMERGENCY, EVACUATE THE BUILDING IMMEDIATELY" as there was a fire that spread through the kitchen. We were stranded outside the hotel for over an hour and a half and seeing we ran out in our pyjamas, no shoes, bras anything. The only thing we got in return was a late check out (we were allowed in when were meant to leave), no price compensation or offers for next time. For that reason alone, never going back. Even if it was an accident it was the buildings fault for faulty electrical and should of had compensation! Not to mention the $15 you have to pay for parking when you're staying at their hotel and NO top sheet, only sheet for the doona! Never again

    3
    « Central, budget stay »

Stayed here for 3 nights. The location was great! Few minute walk to Southern Cross Station and trams outside that go almost anywhere you need. It's nothing fancy, the rooms are very basic. No wifi. Buffet breakfast was overpriced for what they had to offer. Overall good budget stay if you want somewhere close to the CBD and efficient to traveling needs.

« Good place for Melbourne ! We recommend this hotel ! »

We stayed there for the Australien Open. We recommend this hotel very much. First of all, the staff is more then friendly, the helped with everything we needed. The room was quite, spacious and comfortable (upper floors, view to the docklands). Direct in front of the hotel is a tram station (for free), you can reach everything in the city. Last but not least, as our flight left at midnight, we could leave our luggage at the hotel, have had an wonderful day in Melbourne and could take a shower in the hotel' spa before we finally went to the airport to travel back to Europe.

    « Ugh what a terrible room »

This was my Christmas present from my husband. An evening in the city....dinner, play at MTC and staying in a hotel. He booked the hotel via ????? and Atlantis obviously put their worst rooms on. None of the pictures looked like the room we got. An internal room, no windows, no mini bar, the TV didn't work...so when I checked in all I could do was stare at 4 walls. They repaired the TV while we were out and left the screwdriver behind. The TV was on when we returned, so we got to see the end of the tennis. When we got up in the morning and turned on the TV, it didn't work again. They also provide parking, which they charge you $15 for....what a joke. Oh and I nearly forgot - no top sheet on the bed...bottom sheet and Doona, so when my hubbie got hot in the night!!!! We'll never stay there again.

    3
    « Good cheaper accommodation!! »

We only had a one night stay, so the room we had was more than adequate. Its was small and very hot. The heating had been left on 24 degrees. Phew!!! The room we had was on the 9th floor and was obviously set up as a disabled suite due to the size of the bathroom (huge!) with all the rails and the shower seat. The room was clean but I think next time I would ask for a room with a window as it was a bit claustrophobic without one. Breakfast for the extra $12 pp was worth it. Plenty of choice for a continental brekky. I would stay here again but I would specify that I want a window room.

    3
    « Good but not 4 star »

Was in a great location, with a 10 minute walk to the Crown or the heart of the city. The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately most of the utilities in our room were not working or broken when we got there. Our rooms were never cleaned properly but apart from that it was a pleasant stay

« Great location great price great facilities »

Had a great two night stay at the Atlantis. The hotel is in a great location (across the road from southern cross and Coles), reasonable priced, has a pool on the second floor and has a great view of the city. However you do need to pay for pay TV and WIFI.

« Great Location But Cleanliness Needs Improvement »

Stains on carpet, sofa, pillow and even blanket have been seen. No free WiFi in the room and public area. It's not worth to pay for buffet breakfast with not many choices but only some scrambled eggs, red beans, breads, and cereal. The location is good - 5 mins walk to Spencer outlet, Coles and Southern Cross station where you can catch the train or Skybus. Tram stop is located right opposite the hotel where you can go around the city area with the FOC Tram service.

    2
    « Not a 4* hotel »

Hotel was at good location as very close to southern cross station, some cafes, restaurants, supermarket and factory outlet. Breakfast was very very very basic and not worth for the price of AU$12 per person. There is NO FREE WIFI. Room and bathroom size were OK but not the water pressure of the shower. Hot water only very warm.

« Third visit, first disappointment. »

This was our third stay at this hotel. The other two stays I rated four out of five, this time however I was a bit disappointed. The room we were given was a disable access room (not necessary) which was okay, except the carpet that meets the bathroom tiles was damp so it wet your socks to walk on & gave the room an awful smell. We checked in at 6pm & was heading out for most of the evening so I didn't bother to ask to change rooms. I did get the staff to change over the kettle in the room as the one that was in there had some strange gel looking substance in the bottom of it. The staff were fast & efficient in bringing another kettle. We reported the issues with the room on check out to which the staff member was apologetic & seemed legitimately concerned with our issue, assuring they would fix it up. The staff at this hotel are always lovely. Would stay again but not in that room.

    « City stop over »

My husband ans i stayed here a few years ago, we found the hotel to be tidy and comfortable. We had inner city parking and a buffet breakfast included in our stay. We loved the pool too. I would definitely consider staying here again as we found the prices very reasonable with parking and breakfast included excellent.

    « Crazy bad-??????????? »

??app??????????????????????????????????????????sales???????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????? I booked a room for my friends for 3 days on the this APP and the price is including breakfast in the period, but when my friends check in, they were be told there is no breakfast at all unless I send email to the sales team, then I did but they did not replay in the following 3 days! The promotion AD of the hotel attracted visitors but it is not exist at all, that's so ridiculous! What makes me so angry is the words on the sales emails, it seems all of this is my problems and I should not expect for a free breakfast at all!

    « Comfortable and relaxing »

I stayed for nearly a week here and feel totally relaxing. The room has a window which has a view to Docklands, couldnt open it but it didnt really bother me. It was really quiet in and out of the room which i enjoyed the most. The bed with 4 pillows and a fluffy blanket provided are so comfy to sleep on. Bathroom is very clean and soap, shampoos and clean towels are all included. Its very useful that there are fridge, kettle, coffee, tea and also toiletries all included and all clean. Great Location which is close to free tram to the city, appox 500m to the southern cross train station that take u to everywhere. Coles and chemist nearby and big shopping outlet there in case if you need something Staff are cheerful and very helpful. I didnt have a scale in my room to check my luggage. So when i checked out there is a lady who tried to find the scale and she did even change the battery of it so i could use it. My suitcase was bigger than that but we could measure it somehow but the lady was great, really helpful and showed great attitude towards guests instead of just telling us to find one in the southern cross station. Cleaners are also very polite and hard working! The only thing is about the elevator on the right hand side which is a little bit shaky when i go up. A bit nervous sometimes.. However it was a great experience staying there and i ll come back!

« New Years Eve in the city »

We just stayed one night on New Years Eve and it was great! Friendly staff good location and clean comfy rooms. Would stay here again. We could almost see the fireworks from our room but sadly there is a building in front blocking the view of Docklands. Close to train station and trams and shops. Great location for tourists!

« Excellent value for money »

We travelled to Melbourne from Brisbane for a concert at Festival Hall on a Wednesday night. We caught the SkyBus straight from the Airport to Southern Cross Station, it was fast and the station is 100 metres from the hotel. It was all a very simple process. We booked online to stay at this hotel and it was exceptionally cheap for what it was. The rooms are spacious and clean and quiet. You can not hear any of the construction going on in the vicinity. The shower was large with great water pressure. Air conditioning was nice and cold, once we worked out how to use it. if you have trouble like we did, just call reception and they will give you a quick rundown on what to do. This hotel is very close to Festival Hall, about 500 metres. A quick walk. We had breakfast included in our booking. It is a continental buffet with one end of the buffet including scrambled eggs and bake beans. Certainly a great inclusion for such a cheap priced room. We would definitely stay here again if in Melbourne.

Stayed 4nights and was very pleasantly surprised at the size and comfort of the room. Clean and spacious. Very good value and within close proximity to shops and trams. Parking was a bonus. Would definitely stay there again.

    « Clean and Comfortable »

We stayed here last weekend, arriving early New Years Day at about 10am and were surprised that we were able to check in early for which we were very grateful. Check in was quick, and when we arrived at our room it was quite large and spacious with plenty of room for our bags. The room and bathroom were extremely clean, the bathroom has a great size shower and plenty of bench space for a girl to spread out her products and makeup! :) It was a great location for us as we went to nearby Alumbra at Docklands, its only a short walk, although also only two tram stops. It is also super easy to just jump on the tram to go further into the city centre. We had a great nights sleep as the bed was really comfortable, we were surprised! The service from staff was also always friendly and helpful. Particularly form the night reception staff. When I asked the night before we checked out if we could store our luggage all day before our flight, we were offered a late checkout. How often does a hotel actually OFFER that. It was no trouble. The other staff were also very helpful and always happy to help. Breakfast was included in our rate (but for $12 even though breakfast was basic it was good value we thought). Unlike other reviews complaining, I eat eggs every day - and am so fussy. Their scrambled eggs were delicious and I wasn't the only one going back for seconds! My only recommendation would be a coffee machine, the coffee was terrible. But again, for $12, I'm not complaining. I just went and got an espresso while out shopping :) We would definitely stay here again if we needed this area as we got such a good rate, and was great value.

    « Clean but unexceptional. »

The hotel had modern furnishings and was spotlessly clean, although the room was small. The fridge barely worked and you had to pay extra for both wifi access and parking. I tried to add my Best Western rewards number to my booking at the front desk but staff did not know how or were unwilling. Very quiet considering it was in the heart of Melbourne.

    « Clean, Comfy & Convenient »

We flew into Melbourne at 8am and got on the Skybus to southern cross station which is just across the road from the Hotel. I had asked for an early check-in but knew as we where arriving so early we might not get in, i had rung them the day before and inquired about it and was told about the luggage storage service they had if a room wasn't available which put my mind at ease but lucky enough they had a room waiting for us. The room was basic but fitted our needs perfectly. It was clean the shower was great good water pressure nice and hot perfect after walking around all day. Tram picks you up right out the front or you can hope on a train or if you wish walk. There is Coles just across the street which is convenient also. The pool and gym area was also a nice touch. All in all this was a great pick for us and our needs, we didn't need a fancy view as we where hardly in the room but maybe next time as we would book this hotel again.

« Yet again, another great and comfortable stay »

Have stayed here many times, and yet again, stayed here for two nights on 29 and 30th December. Check in was friendly and efficient and we were allowed into our room early which is always a bonus. Room was extremely clean as always but was also extremely hot .... then we realised the heater was on which was easily fixed. No ironing board in room, but yet again, another minor issue and we ironed on the floor. Staff are always friendly, including the housekeeping who always acknowledge you and say good morning! and even when I stay here on my own, I feel extremely safe and secure. Views out of the windows aren't an issue for us as we are in Melbourne to shop and enjoy ourselves in the city ... not stand at the window staring out at the world. PS: it means nothing but I LOVE the music in the lifts! Many times I went a few floors extra and back again as there was a song playing that I loved lol. anyway, overall a fantastic place to stay, close to everything (trams at front door) and a comfy, clean bed which is what means the most to me on my travels! Once again, thanks guys!

« Great place great value great location »

Always a good price. Always get a good sleep. Great location. I always choose to stay here. Easy to get to places with the trams and train station situated very close. Breakfast basic but good enough if included in the price. Staff are great. Easy patking.

« Our second stay here »

Just as good as it was last time I stayed. Very clean and comfortable, quiet at night, so easy to sleep. Staff are very friendly also. Was a tiny bit bummed we were given an internal room this time as it made the room a bit darker. I like to be able to look out the window onto the street, not a brick wall. I didn't realise they had internal rooms, so next time we stay I'll know to ask for an external room. Close to Southern Cross Station, Skybus terminal, trams, city center and Etihad Satdium.

    4
    « Clean and spacious »

Overall a good hotel. Service was friendly and the room was clean and spacious. Unfortunately our room was next to the lifts so the sound of the lifts going up and down could be heard. I recommend requesting a room away from the lifts.

    « Nice and relaxing »

Booked the hotel to stay after my work Christmas Party, nice clean and spacious room, gave my partner and I heaps of room to relax before getting ready, and the room also have all the amenities that one could ask for. Whilst on a main road, unable to hear a sound of traffic which made for a wonderful stay. Would happily stay there within a heartbeat.

    « A pleasant place to stay »

Friendly and helpful staff. Pleasantly set up room. Clean and tidy. Good proximity to railway station, tram and shops. Bed clean and comfortable. Enjoyed the use of the iron and ironing board, blow drier and tea and coffee making facilities. Appreciated daily top up of towels and shampoo etc.

« Cost cutting has destroyed this gem »

The great location and pool have brought me back to Atlantis regularly this year, but the service and value are going down hill fast. You have to choose your room carefully, they have many without windows or decent beds which are vile. They also offer a continental breakfast which used to be good but is now vile - powered eggs and coffee - erk. Never seen that offered on the continent! Staff used to be helpful and friendly but now have major attitude, guess the company is cutting back on costs. Even charge for wi-fi. By the time you add on the costs you could stay some where decent.

    « An ok hotel »

Booked 2 nights in December as part of my holiday. Was good overall. Location is great. Right next to Southern Cross Station where you get off the airport shuttle bus. Also right across Coles. You catch tram 86 to Bourke Street and city circle tram 35 to do the city loop. It's a short stroll to many landmarks. Room is clean. Service is good and pleasant. There are gym and pool in the basement although I didn't use it. I don't like the fact that you have to pay for internet, wifi and breakfast. But the rate is cheap anyway in my case as I get 30% off the standard rate. With this rate I'm not going to complain. But I don't feel it's good value for money if you have to pay the full rate while not getting the abovementioned services. There is no bathtub in my room. It's shower only, which doesn't bother me. Breakfast is really a drag. You pay $12 but the variety is really limited. The only hot food is omelette, which really disappoints me. They say they are a 4 star hotel but honestly I feel it's more like 3 or 3.5 star. Regardless, I'm overall happy with this hotel. Would I recommend it? Maybe, depending on the rate you get.

« Great for the price »

Had a great stay here mid-week. Was a perfect location to explore the city. The room was very clean and the bed very comfortable. Staff were extremely helpful, and informed us breakfast was included in our price(which we were unaware of). The Atlantis also had the added benefit of car parking in the same building.

    « Favorite Melbourne motel »

Have stayed here ten times over the past year and the experience is always a great one. Make sure you search around as the prices can vary greatly. Look for the city view deals as they are level 9 and above. The Italian restaurant next door does reasonable food as does the Japanese place across the road.

« Great overnight stay and value for money »

Just on the perimeter of the city but still within walking distance or a free tram ride to most of what we needed. Excellent value for money, staff obliging and room with all basic needs and clean. Value for money in a no frills hotel.

« Great location and great price if you shop around »

Travelled to Melbourne for Taylor Swift concert with young daughter who requested an indoor pool!!! Needed to be near the train and skybus and this ticked all the boxes. Initially concerned about some of the reviews, went ahead when we eventually found a special on lastminute.com averaging a $129 for a night (including a Saturday night in December!) This included breakfast and a view over the docklands. Couldnt fault the room whatsoever (1019) Breakfast was hearty, Reception was welcoming and helpful. Had to return to store our bags as the train station lockers were mostly not working. No problem for Atlantis staff. Would definitely return, and have recommended to friends visiting soon.

I stayed in this hotel for one night during a work trip. The gym is quite good with everything I wanted and the pool looked great. The front desk service was very friendly and helpful. The room was good and very clean. I would stay here again if I am in central Melbourne. Thanks!

    « Not worth your $$ »

Despite extremely rarely complaining about hotels, I had many issues with the Best Western Atlantis Hotel. Firstly, upon checking in we were told we were residing on the 14th floor for our stay (yay, lucky us! or so we thought....). It turns out one of their two elevators were broken (and had been for two weeks prior we later discovered) and thus we waited for an elevator for up to 15 minutes each time we tried to get to and from our room. Following on from that, we booked a room with a 'grand dockland view' - we paid an extra fee for this view. Our view consisted primarily of a building roof and some offices. Pushing this all aside in the hopes of having a celebratory weekend we did not complain to the staff about these issues. However, upon arrival we found that our television wasn't working - this we did complain about. I suggested being moved rooms however was told they were 'full'. They offered us complimentary unlimited wifi (should be free anyway...) but we were happy with this! Until the wifi broke.... I called reception asking for some help. They said it wasn't working indefinitely and that they'd compensate with providing us with unlimited free wifi. After they realised we already had this they wiped our laundry bill... But! It didn't end here. On one of our final days we were notified at 9.40am that all water systems were being shut off for the day, beginning at 10.00am. We raced to shower etc etc. in the limited time we had and then dealt with no running water for the duration of the day. Overall this was not an enjoyable stay. Whilst some staff members were extremely helpful I found some to be unapproachable and cold. I felt so disappointed for my partner as I had spent months planning this in an attempt to provide him with a relaxing, enjoyable and rewarding holiday. This accommodation did not facilitate this at all...

Stayed here for a week in November. And it was such a pleasant stay. Close to everything and very friendly and helpful stuff. Great location, just 5 mins walk from Southern Cross Station and Hungry Jacks, 2 mins walk to Coles, in City Circle area so its free to travel around with trams for free. Clean room, friendly staff, bed was comfortable, but no wifi in the room. Oh, they have it but you've to pay.

« Clean and Central to Station and City »

We arrived tired from our flight from Edinburgh Scotland and caught the Sky Bus from the Airport to Southern Cross Station. The Hotel is in a great location, five minutes walk from the Railway Station and close to many restaurants in the City. The room was clean and spacious and quiet so we could catch up on much needed sleep without disturbance..

« Good hotel, good base to explore Melbourne, but bit sterile in not so lively surroundings (yet?) »

I chose this hotel because I arrived late and wanted something not too far from the bus station, but on a good location to explore downtown. It is on the edge of downtown and near the Docklands. The surroundings and the street the hotel is on are not very appealing, not many people on the streets. But this may change, a lot of construction is going on (apartment buildings, hotels etc). But during my stay, it did not give me the idea being in the vibrant city that Melbourne turned out to be. The hotel itself is good, good spacious rooms, great facilities. The only thing: it is a bit sterile: not very much decoration, empty walls etc. I am not at all fond of overdecoration, but here, in places it ooks more like an office building than a hotel. A bit improvement on this side would really make it more attractive.

    « Handy to everything »

Nice clean rooms. Comfy beds and room serviced daily. Very friendly staff. On spencer street just down from the corner of la Trobe st. 100 metres from sky bus terminal and central station. A 2 minute walk up to la Trobe st to the free city circle tram which goes within a block of most of the shopping areas, the aquarium and casino. No restaurant on site but lots of options fairly close by. I stayed in a twin room which only had a small window in the corner with no view. Really only in the room to sleep though so was not an issue for me. Only annoying thing was the smoke detector which was just above the foot of my bed and had bright flashing green lights all night. For safety I know but it may have been better placed further towards the door away from the bed. I would stay here again so convenient to everything without being right in the middle of a busy noisy city.

« Great Stay at Convenient Location »

This hotel is situated just 5 minutes walk from Southern Cross Station and in the vicinity of the free city circle trams which makes it a very good location to base your stay. We had requested for early check in through agoda and on arrival around 10 am, was immediately provided our room. The room had a city view and fairly big sized, including toilet area so definitely ample space to move around and dump your big suitcases anywhere in the room. The hotel staff were very helpful with road directions. Btw, there is a COLES super department very near to hotel so you can buy any stuff that you need. Plus, this hotel is recognized by all tour operators so you will be conveniently picked from your hotel though this may be the first pick-up so you will have to rise early. The breakfast is not great and no variety except eggs, beans and breads. However, there are so many nearby eateries that this will not bother your stay in any way. Overall, a big yes to this hotel and will definitely come back again.

    3
« In case of emergency? »

One of the two lifts in each block was out of service. There is only one stair for emergency evacuation but the fire door on our floor was kept opened. Really concerned about its safety in case of fire.

    « Good Value 3.5/5 »

I stayed at this hotel for one night on a business trip. This hotel is located near the main metropolitan and interstate tran stations and near airport bus interchange. It is also very close to a range of DFO shops. Plenty of eateries nearby. The room was comfortable, with double bed, desk and office chair, small two seater lounge, many bar, iron and ironing board, coffee / tea making equipment and coffee, tea satchels and small milk containers. Bathroom a good size with shower only. Towels, floor mats etc was provided. I did not visit gym and pool. One of the two lifts to my room was not working but that just meant leaving a few minutes earlier There was no free wifi. Good value. Basic clean accommodation. Will stay there again

« Very good hotel for the price »

We stayed here for one night. We wanted a reasonably priced hotel near Southern Cross Station seeing as we were arriving on the Sky Bus from the airport. Sky Bus only takes 20 minutes from the airport with Southern Cross Station being the only stop. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the station and also a 1 minute walk from the free city circle tram stop. Victoria Market is an easy walk as well. We had pre-paid direct with the hotel and checkin took a couple of minutes. We were on floor 11 and had a nice view across the city. The room was clean and fresh and for the price we couldn't fault it. Buffet continental breakfast was included and it was sufficient. Overall we would recommend the hotel. It's a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of town but we did it and enjoyed the walk. With the free tram being so close you can jump on and chill out while you get taken round to Southbank, MCG etc.

    4
« Good value for money »

Clean and tidy rooms. Stayed for 3 nights. The only issue was that only one of the lifts were available so was a little time consuming waiting for the lift to go up and down. Easy walking distance to walk into town however buses and trams are readily available.

    5
« Good value, friendly courteous staff and convenient location »

Good value for money. It was clean, conveniently located and provided great service - staff went out of their way to meet our specific needs. The room was a good size and well equipped although the bathroom was a tad tight, particularly if you required special equipment. We would certainly stay there again. Because of its location, it is extremely well situated if you are travelling by train as it is within walking distance of the main Melbourne transport hub.

    « Average hotel »

Hotel is located in an excellent central spot however this is where it ends. Very basic room. Lifts were slow and not working majority of time meaning coming down a dark stairwell from level 16. No free wifi and expensive to use- not ideal for tourists who rely on this. Overall average.

    4
« Basic hotel, need to pay for wifi »

Location: About 5-10 min walk to southern cross station and 20-30 min walk to the city's center (shopping and restaurants). There are a few places to eat nearby but limited options. Room: The room was very basic and clean. If you're not looking for anything special this place will work. Staff: Friendly and helpful. Only downside was no free wifi. You'll have to pay a steep daily fee to use the wifi.

    « False advertising »

We stayed here for 10 days on level 14 we paid for a room with a view we had no view but the police building talk about false advertising, the room was dirty dust everywhere wasn't a good look when we had to keep asking for the room to be. Dusted every day as I'm a asthmatics And have problems with breathing , the shower had mold on the walls.Tower 2 had only one lift that worked that took 5 to 10 mins to come down to the lobby or go up to your floor when you come down to lobby the lift would stop at every level even when there wasn't anyone there, we had the alarm go off in the lift a few times we rang reception who really didn't care and where quite rude about it a lot of the guest said the same thing that the lift would go to floors that it didn't need to go too and it took so long to get back to either your floor or the lobby fire doors that open when they should have been closed the fire marshal would have had feild day fining the Atlantis hotel for breaches the pool was suppose to be heated and it was freezing cold.have stayed here before but after staying here this time we will never stay here again it's very disappointing

    3
« No attention to detail »

1 tiny bit of soap in the room, lamps not plugged in and the plugs behind the heavy bed, dirty marks on the toilet seat and a filthy looking shower did not give a good look. To try and say something positive the bed was reasonably comfortable, the room quite spacious & quiet, would not stay again due to dirty bathroom

« Close to Etihad Stadium & Southern Cross Station »

Booked this hotel for how close it was to Etihad stadium only 10 minute walk. We Could see the stadium from our room. Walking distance to southern cross station where the bus from the airport dropped us. 15 minute walk to the aquarium and tram stop within 100mtrs of the hotel. Room was clean, staff were friendly. Internet and parking is an additional charge. Hotel does not have room service you order this from a local Italian restaurant. We ordered two food was good and delivery was very fast. Had two issues on our three night stay. Safe in the room wouldn't work called reception and they came straight up to fix it. Second morning went to have a shower at 8.30am and no hot water. Called reception who Said they were expecting the water to go off but not until 10.30am and they were going to call rooms at 9.30am to let them know. The girl in reception said she didn't know what to say. I said that we should have been notified last night that the water would be going off. She spoke to some one then offered me a room in another tower to shower in. This meant getting dry from staring a cold Shower getting re-dressed going down to reception and going up another tower to have a shower. We didn't take this offer as we had gotten up with enough time for a quick shower and needed to leave on time. A note under the door the night before would have been better than notifying people 1 hour before the water was due to be turned off. Would stay here again due to the location if I was attending an event at Etihad stadium and could get a cheap deal.

    « Perfect Position »

We stayed recently at Atlantis Hotel. Great position for exploring Melbourne City and surrounds. Easy to hop on and off the city trams. Close to Etihad Stadium walking distance. Close to Docklands. Room was clean and bathroom clean. Coffee facilities a little old out of date (coffee sachets). Breakfast was ok but only had 1 breakfast at hotel as we chose to go visit other cafes for breakfast. We had a view of the Stadium and surrounds. Will stay again if we could get it at a better price.

    « Dissappointed »

Stayed as a couple. Chose this hotel due to close distance it was to Etihad stadium. Located in a prime location, 10 minutes walk to stadium, harbour town and restaurants. However, that was about all. Hotel room was clean and tidy, however for approx $150 a night, it was very bland. Thought that the city view may improve our moods however we looked over the back of building rubbish areas. Were only given one pillow each. Hot water was intermittent. Needs a revamp for the price customers pay.

    « Great Value »

We stayed for one night when attending the Fleetwood Mac concert. Saved heaps through my Hotelclub membership. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times and it has always been very good value for Melbourne. This time we got a room on 18th floor at back of hotel. Nice and quiet, a large room, with comfortable bed and good pillows. We really enjoyed our stay. We I'd not have breakfast but everything was excellent. Smooth check in also. The hotel is conveniently located near Southern Cross Train Station. Well recommended

    « Value for money »

We had a city view apartment on the top floor. We were happy with the view although it would have been nice for the window to be larger. The room was large enough for our needs, clean and comfortable. Staff were helpful. We were able to check in early and when we checked out they stored our bags for us and kept some food in the fridge. It is a short walk for Southern Cross Station if you catch the Skybus from the airport. The only blemish was you had to pay for wifi connection.

    2
    « Disappointing »

Upon arrival in a twin room I was disappointed for the price I paid. My curtain blinds were tangled and unusable until spending 20mins de tangling while standing on a chair, the beds were falling apart, no where to hang two towels despite being a twin room, the pool being under maintenance and there is not an airport shuttle as advertised. Great location near the train station, and walking distance to shops, bars, etc.

    « Ok hotel »

Because manly no free wifi and no TV channels except the movies which they offer . It was a bit of a let down. Nuce clean rooms and comfortable beds. Staff were friendly. But our gloor (6) had a funky smell just in the corridors (don't know if it's a regular thing or on any other floors)

    « Convenient City Stay »

A clean and comfortable hotel near the Southern Cross station and Skybus terminal, with free trams at the door for easy city access. The $12 all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast is a good deal but wifi is expensive compared with other similar hotels which now offer free wifi. Have stayed before and will do so again. A couple of very minor problems were quickly attended to by the friendly staff who also did my online flight checkin while things were quiet at reception - greatly appreciated.

« It is worth while »

We liked the hotel, the room, the space. People were kind. We didn´t like the room cleaning and some petitions that were not heard, though they promised they would satisfy them, such as the safety box which would not work, and the fridge that needed attention. Anyway, I think I would come back.

« Poor standard, hygiene and cleanliness »

We stayed at this hotel for 5 nights in room 1012, very disappointed with the overall conditions. The following are issues we found with this hotel: there was a large area of mould in the shower, the sink taps were faulty, the safe had to be fixed on 3 occasions in just 2 days, the ironing board was broken, iron had burnt stains on it, the runners on the wardrobe weren't working correctly and there was dust & dirt in most areas of the carpet. To top it all off on the morning of our 4th night when preparing to go out on a trip the hot water was off, and when I contacted the reception they said " did you want a shower" I explained yes and the trip planned and was told to come down to reception and we would be given a key to use another shower. The hotel did not see it fit to advise us of said works and we did not receive any explanation. The room we used to shower was clean with the same furniture etc and when my husband expressed our displeasure the response was "that room is an upgrade" well we would disagree, it was just clean. The guests who stayed one night only were treated better as far as we are concerned. We booked this hotel in April and feel let down by being given such a filthy room. I have placed a review on the hotels website and notice they only seem to accept the positive feedback and I have not received any response. It is worrying that the hotel only accepts positive feedback from travellers which is something we rely on & appreciate before booking accommodation.

    « terrible!!!!! »

It was dirty. they "cleaned" it each day but i do not think it had been cleaned under the bed since it was new even if it had weels on. The window bench and bath rooms was dirty. Got stuck in the elevator for 2 and a half hour, and the only thing they said was" Good for you that you are out" They did not even offer me a glass of water after that!! Internet was expencive and a joke. We paid for a month and after 3 days it did not work anymore, they told us we had used it all! Breakfast was not worth 12 dollars. So we where a group of 8 people and not one of us will ever go back to this hotel, even if we have to go back to Melbourne on a regular basis.

    « Will be back »

My partner and I stayed recently and must say we Really enjoyed our stay here. Conveniently located (so we spent the day at the queen vic market) and well priced. With modern spacious rooms and underground parking, will definitely be back

    « Fantastically convenient!! »

Stayed here for three nights in September before flying overseas. Staff were great, room was clean and comfortable and a decent size. Breakfast was included - not a huge choice but perfectly adequate. Best of all though is the great location. Walking distance to free trams, shopping and restaurants and across the road from the airport shuffle and Southern Cross Station. Definitely staying here again

« Central location is a good base to explore the city »

Myself and a friend spent one night at this hotel. The staff at check in were polite and efficient. Our room was clean and pleasant. There was an odour that was clear that someone had previously been smoking in the room but it was only obvious as you came in. The beds were comfortable and the hotel was quiet. Elevator music was jazzy and fun. Overall a good value hotel for the centre of Melbourne.

« Good, Well priced Accommodation »

I chose to stay at the Atlantis due to it's proximity with public transport hubs, being within 100m of a tram stop and less than 300m from the railway station and airport bus depot. It was perhaps a little further away from where I wanted to be, but with a large convention in town, hotels closer to the Yarra River were a lot more expensive. Staff were friendly and quickly got me into my room, which looked out over Etihad stadium and docklands. Room itself was neat, with modern bathroom and an airconditioning system that actually cooled the room when set to, which I've found something a little hit and miss with hotel stays. I think I would be hard pressed to say a bad thing about this place and given the right situation would be happy to stay here again.

« Great hotel in excellent location for Etihad Stadium »

We were just staying overnight, and our room was fine, comfortable bed, hot shower and a great view of the Stadium from our window. The window shades were great for blocking out the light. We did have trouble with working the air-conditioner and there were no instructions. We worked it out in the end, but we should've just asked for help.

    « Close to Everything »

The Best Western Atlantis is located close to the Docklands and Southern Cross train/bus station. The shuttle from the airport arrives at this station and the hotel is a five minute walk across the street. The CBD is only a 15 minute walk away and the South Bank is minutes away as well. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The staff at reception are friendly and helpful. The City Circle Tram (free) is 100 metres from the hotel. With the commentary, the tram provides a great orientation to the CBD and sights. The only criticism I have is that there was a charge for WiFi, even for Best Western Rewards members. Value for the rate paid was not great but my stay was the weekend of the AFL Grand Final and all hotel rates were exorbitant. However, the rates at the Atlantis were best of the worst. All in all, would recommend this hotel.

    « Near southern cross »

Had the executive room with a view. Large room but tired. Good car parking but not a lot of interest or assistance from day staff. Near the station which was good . Little noise. Not terribly tram convenient for us but maybe better routes for others. Clean. Shopping nearby at dfo

« When is a View not a View and a blind not a blind? »

Have stayed here before and found it great - but this was a visit of two halves. Front desk staff great, friendly and attentive. However ... the room I booked had a 'Docklands View', with website picture to match. The actual 'view' was of the police HQ opposite, which has been built since the website picture. The window had a venetian blind and dark roller blind for blackout. I wanted to dim the room, so tried moving the venetian slats - but they would not move as the cord was broken. I called the front desk: housekeeping came and told me that I should pull down the blackout if I didn't want a light room. I complained that the venetian should work - and was impolitely invited to leave if I didn't like the room as it was, and that the damage was probably done by a previous guest. I changed room - same issue with blind and same confrontational response from housekeeping. There were other issues too (cups and glasses not removed or cleaned, aircon not staying to temperature) but there seemed no point in being abused again. Not impressed with the management response to this whole affair and will certainly not be recommending people to stay again.

    « Great location »

Spent 2 nights at the Atlantis, great location close to Etihad stadium, Queen Victoria Markets. Free trams very close. Room was clean and quiet. Reception staff was welcoming, especially as we arrived very late around midnight. Breakfast was basic, but there is a lovely restauraunt on the corner, Il Sole, which had a great breakfast menu at reasonable price. Also found a great Vietnamese restaurant, Pho 24, just a very short walk down the road on the same side as the Atlantis. Would stay here again, very convenient, clean and competitively priced.

« Clean and well located »

The Atlantis is located in a convenient position in Spencer St., easily accessed from Southern Cross train station and also provides car parking for $15 per night. We booked on-line and check-in was straight forward, including organising parking. The room was very clean and tidy. The QS bed was comfortable, and the split-system heating/cooling worked well. The bathroom was well designed and had all the required inclusions. Reception were also kind enough to allow us to leave our car in the carpark until 12 noon to allow us to have an extended breakfast/shopping morning. The reasons for not awarding full points was that the smoke detector flashed every four seconds in a position on the ceiling that was quite distracting while trying to go to sleep, and the room smelled strongly of room deodoriser. It was the exact smell I remember from baby nappy bags!! No doubt this was a better option than whatever the smell it was masking, but it took a while to adapt! The WiFi was also quite expensive and so not worth signing up for.

« Clean and Comfortable Beds »

Stayed overnight and the bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The staff on reception desk were not overly helpful and the breakfast was very basic so I'd suggest you try one of the little cafes that Melbourne is famous for if you wish to have something more yummy. Convenient location to the Skybus and Stadium and would stay again as represents good value for money for overnight accommodation.

« Quality at the right price »

This is the first time I've written a review on the Atlantis after having stayed here several times over the last few years, guess I just never got around to it. Having said that, it's time to get the word out. The Atlantis is possibly one of the best value for money hotels in the Melbourne CBD, albeit on the edge of the CBD. It is close to Southern Cross and the Docklands precinct including Etihad Stadium. The City, Casino and Southbank can be accessed easily by tram. The hotel is always presented well and the staff can never do enough to help. Bag storage is offered should check in/out not coincide with your arrival or depature but I have been lucky enough to be checked in around 1100 am when arriving early on occasion. Rooms are spotlessly presented, modern and comfortable and the views from various levels can be spectacular. Book far enough ahead and you'll be surpirised at just how little you can pay for a quality room in this fabulous Hotel. Higly recommended.

    « Atlantis Hotel Melbourne »

The room was really good, clean and fresh, its a little way out of central Melbourne but not too far. My only disappointment was with their iron and Hairdryer, considering it's suppose to be a 4 1/2 start hotel these items were very cheap and nasty. Other than that I would recommend it.

    « Great location! »

We stayed at the atlantis for a family wedding. It was clean, modern and beds comfortable. The rooms are on the smaller side. It's close to the city circle tram and southern cross station. The only complaint I have is the pool was freezing. Would defiantly stay again.

A very comfortable stay in the hotel, bed was comfortable and room was spotless. Continental breakfast was more than sufficient. Parking was a little bit tight when driving a large four wheel drive vehicle.

« Acceptable quality hotel well located for Etihad Stadium and Docklands »

room had plenty of space, reasonable bathroom but lacked natural light. It had a window onto a light well that was many floors down inside the building. If all you plan to do is bathe and sleep its no major problem. On the bathing side the shower water pressure was minimal at best and I could stand under the hottest water setting without discomfort. I did not eat breakfast in the hotel so no views on the food. There are many cafes on Bourke St and Collins St within easy walking distance

Good location reasonable price. Breakfast , better to go around. I took breakfast only 1 morning. Nice comfort for the bed and pillows. Convenient location , access to city centre , with parking. Good choice for business.

« Friendly staff with a WiFi problem »

You have to pay for WiFi, and it is laughable how expensive it is. My roaming data for my New Zealand phone was cheaper. There were faint stains on the sheets and the couch, though I know it's just from hard use, as a clean freak it was hard to ignore. The management might want to look into new sheets and a cover for the couch. The breakfast was eggs, toast, baked beans and cereal. Nothing fancy, and very limited. On the plus side the beds were really comfortable and the room was temperature controlled. The staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable about restaurants and trams and other tourist questions. They were also so used to the internet problem they were a great help in getting us a refund for the nights we decided we would spend elsewhere. The hotel is really close to the train station and in the town centre, so everything is walking distance. I can't stress enough how friendly the staff were. They were amazing.

« Gave me no choice »

I booked Atlantis as it seemed like a great location, but upon arrival, I was told I booked a disabled room and nowhere in my booking details had mentioned this to me. I had made my booking via Amoma.com, and their supplier is Hotelbeds.com, who are actually responsible for sourcing me the room. While these sites failed to tell me about the additional details of my room, the staff at Atlantis were no help either to me. All they simply did was show me on paper that I had booked a disabled room and if I wanted a normal room (what I had booked for), I would have to pay an extra $40 a night. I ended up calling Amoma, who explained to me that there wasn't much they could do except give me a 20% discount to deal with it. While the room has a larger bathroom, I did not want those facilities and I felt the entire experience was very misleading. In the end, the B2C site (Amoma), the supplier (Hotelbeds) and the hotel (Atlantis) all need to reevaluate the way they run things.

    « Quiet and comfortable »

Stayed for 3 nights, found the room to be clean and in good standards. Found the room service to be slightly disappointing and it would have been nice if plates and knivesforks were provided by the hotel. We had to eat out of the plastic containers they came in. The shower was also a let down, despite it's large size and modern appearance, the water pressure was terrible and the temperature kept changing from cold to scalding hot each time we used it. Those are the only two faults we have with the room everything else was excellent and the tram stop near the hotel was very convenient for traveling inside the city. There is also a Coles store and skybus close by too which helped. Overall, a thumbs up for a great hotel.

    « Good location »

Regular visitor to Melbourne and first time here. Pleasantly surprised. Good reception, Room was a good size, bed comfortable. Breakfast was good, just right for the start of a day, cereal, toast, scrambled eggs, baked beans. certainly a variety and was included in the price of the room. Located close to Southern Cross Railway Station , Trams for getting around Melbourne. Even the noise of the trams turning at the intersection, metal on metal, was low.

    « All Good »

Thumbs up here, close to transport and airport sky bus. Good rooms, very clean. Would have gave it 5 but the pool is on the cold side. We wouldn't hesitate in staying here again. Room was even available a long time before the two pm check in which was appreciated.

    « Best trip ever »

We have had a really great experience at this hotel. The receptionist Alice was very helpful and so friendly, going out of her way to make us feel at home. When we came back to our room, the cleaning staff had been and done a great job. It's the small touches, like placing my sons teddy on his bed that really make this place shine. We will absolutely come back and want to thank everyone we have met for the great experience.

    « Comfortable but small »

The hotel is located nearby the train station even it is not really in the middle of the city but easy to find. I went to most parts of the city by trams nearby the hotel. The room was a bit small but very comfortable. The staff were also friendly and helpful. The area is quiet at night as compared to any hotels nearby the Flinders Station.

« Great place to stay as a base in Melbourne »

The hotel is on the outskirts of the Melbourne CBD. Very close to the Skybus and well serviced by the Trams (free in the CBD). The room was small, but very clean and comfortable with a view towards the Docklands. Don't bother with the breakfast as there are many cafes and restaurants nearby.

Great location especially if you traveled by Sky bus from the international airport tothe bus terminal as the hotel was a very short distance away on the same street. Its a good clean basic hotel in Melbournes CBD area with helpful staff. Would stay again. Elspeth

    « Enjoying Melbourne CBD & surrounds »

The hotel is a basic hotel but it is neat, clean & tidy. An ideal spot to go to & fro around Melbourne. It is located at the hub of Melbourne's great transport system be it train, tram or bus. It is at the drop off point for the Airport Bus. Opposite Etihad Stadium, close to Docklands, Casino, Markets & central CBD. The hotel only has a breakfast restaurant, no lunch or dinner & no bar. However all of that is close by. Wi Fi is not free.

    « Never stay again! »

Have stayed here over 10 times previously. Have always been happy; not this time. Arrived for GF weekend on friday. Meet other guests in the lift that were complaining that AC was not working. Soon learnt that they were correct. Staff denied a problem. We were moved to another room by Fabian the night manager. Fabian vehemently denied the problem was building wide. Next morning day staff stated the problem was in a number of rooms and technicians would be coming out and the problem solved by the end of the day. The end of the day came and went. It is now 3:50am and I am laying on the tiled bathroom floor to find some relief from the oppressive heat. This could be detailed further but it would sound unbelievable. I am absolutely flabbergasted by the customer service here

« Good Budget Hotel, accomodation great but facilities limited and breakfast is not good »

This hotel is in a great position for the railway station and Victoria Market. It is also a pleasent walk to the casino and river so position wise it is great. The rooms are clean and of a reasonable size with OK facilities. The down side is there is no bar or restaurant but then there are loads of these nearby and the breakfast is very limited, basically cereal and beans on toast. But it was a very good price for Melbourne and I would stay there again.

« Solid, run of the mill hotel »

Stayed here for one night. Very convenient location. The room is reasonable, clean and spacious for the price. The bed was okay, pillows were a bit lackluster but no real complaints here. It did have a fairly nice over spencer st which was good.
