    « Overnight stay »

This is another regular stop on our annual fishing trip to Louisiana. Recent remodeling is done and the rooms are nice and clean, comfortable beds and good HVAC. Free breakfast in the morning is a little sparse but it gets you going.

    « Needs update »

Room needed to be painted. Breakfast area was very small and needs more seating. Pool was great and clean and private. Beds and floor was clean, bathroom tub needed a little tlc. Breakfast was average: tasted ok, but was a bit cool.

    « easy access »

Average room that would be good for a night or so. Free breakfast that we did not try. We were passing through and got a room. Front desk people were nice enough, not overly friendly, did what they had to do and no more.

« charged twice for the same stay »

Called while on way to Mcgehee to stay for the night July 8. Made a reservation with a lady on the phone. When arrived at the hotel the gentlemen that checked us into the hotel informed me there was no reservation for our stay that evening. So he booked us into a room for the evening anyway. Which was very helpful. When I got home and started looking at my credit card statements I noticed that I was billed for the original reservation that I had made and then was also charged for the room that the gentleman at the front desk gave us for the evening. When I called to speak to the manager regarding this discrepancy I was told that they didn't charge my card twice for the same nights stay. Still to this day in Aug I continue to show 2 charges for the same nights stay.

    « Horrible Service »

Would never stay here again. Room was not clean and after requesting the garbage at least be picked up it was not. Had to request toilet paper clean towels. It was just overall a terrible experience. The breakfast was not very good and very few things were offered, the cereal may have been very old I stopped eating a few bites in.

    « SoSo! »

To begin with the checkin process was weird. Then the room had a very funny smell. No soap in bathroom or sink area. It is in need of a update. It was fine for a stopping point to New Orleans but next time I will drive a little longer and find a better one. I'm not too picky but I do like clean and up to date. It isn't up to the other Best Westerns I've stayed at.

    « Gross »

I have no idea how this hotel has earned high scores. I struggled assigning either a 1 or 2 score and decided I should give credit for the sleep we got. My family stopped here because we were driving through and this was the better of our two options. We should've kept driving. The bathroom was dirty, the carpets were iffy, and we had to fight off spiders and mosquitos. Apparently, previous guests did the same...judging by the shoe print and bug body near the ceiling. There were stains in both the toilet and bathtub. The beds were uncomfortable but far as we could tell. If I had seen the blood in the corner of the bathroom earlier, we would've packed up on the spot. Unfortunately, I didn't discover that little gem until the next morning. Keep driving, people. Keep. Driving.

« Recommend if you are staying with Dog(s) »

Very clean, quiet and secure location. Had a place to walk my dogs and I didn't feel insecure when I walked them in the middle of the night. The bedding was very nice. I hadn't stayed in a Best Western for several years and I was pleasantly surprised that they were this high ended for the price of money paid. I would return to this and other Best Westerns in the future.

« Stopping point on way to destin »

In my opinion I would just drive straight through this town and not stop. We are not too picky when it comes to a one night stay, but this hotel was pretty bad. Cleanliness is at the top of my list and this hotel did not have it. The room had a bad odor when you entered. The bathroom floor had stains/something all over it and a smell. To the point I closed the door to the bathroom and when I did go in I put my shirt over my nose. The breakfast was pretty basic. After hearing 2 other patrons tell the staff the milk was sour, I passed on that. Finally after the 2nd person said something they changed it out. Also the area to eat breakfast is a small cramped space, about the size of an office cubie. Will not be stopping here ever again.

« a gem in the middle of nowhere »

had to believe this great little place exists but glad that it does . it is about 350 miles from mobile and perfect range for our motorcycle trips . there is even two places to eat within walking distance , Mexican and BBQ

    « A nice hotel/motel »

When traveling in the lower/ south Arkansas there isn't much to chose from. Mcgehee Arkansas only have three motels. Two are not worst stopping for. Therefore The Best Western motel is the only place to stay for that area of the country.

    « A little disappointing »

Overall the floor of the room felt dirty, the breakfast area is too small, and the issues with the wifi took away from what would have been a great experience. There are not many choices in this town and I still feel like this is probably the best. Just some work to do.

    « Poor house keeping »

The carpets were not clean and room service was not up to any good standards. The location has only 2 motels to offer and the one next to this one may have better facilities. I will have to do my home work before thinking about staying in McGehee AR ever again.

    « It's OK »

We tried a new place. And it is close to a BBQ place called HOOTS. Where we generally stay, the small town has fast food restaurants, but nothing worth dining at. So we decided to stay at the Best Western in a nearby town. Lobby was clean, well lit, and odor free. It was an older motel and the interior of the lobby could use some updating. The room was clean, odor free, and we had a non-smoking room with no odor of cigarette smoke. Large screen tv, free wifi, lots of hot water, plenty of towels. Heating and air unit was thermostat controlled on the wall. But the heat/AC unit was in the wall where they normally are and it was noisy and blew cold air directly onto the bed. No way to deflect it. Door to outside had a large gap toward the bottom between it and the outside. Exhaust from a vehicle could be a problem in that room. No road noise, but AC unit noise would drown it out. Bed was not comfortable; too hard. Pillows were soft, numerous, and comfortable. Breakfast was good, normal fare, but also included scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, french toast (put in toaster). Cereal, coffee, milk, yogurt included. Plenty to eat. Dining area was very small; two tables. This needs to be upgraded. Only two motels in this small town, but larger towns are located in both directions less than 20 minutes away that offer a larger dining area. Cost at the Best Western was the same as that offered at motels in both of the larger towns discussed above. It's an ok place for a night. No reason to avoid it. And the nearby BBQ eatery, HOOTS, is a hoot.

« Clean and quiet with good wifi, but go out for breakfast. »

This is a decent place to stay. It was clean, hot water, wifi and quiet. The free breakfast was okay and will do in a pinch, but just down the street is a fantastic daylight donuts with breakfast sandwiches and coffee for cheap. In the evening I went to a BBQ place called Hoots in an old gas station that was unique and good food.

« Horrible customer servicer, potential racists »

My husband and 8 year old son came here the evening of Friday, March 18th to check in for two days while in town to visit family. When they arrived, the hotel (and parts of the city) were experiencing a power outage. My husband walked into the area to check in for the evening, but there was nobody there to check him in. My husband waiting 10 minutes, then left and waited in his car a while longer before leaving. The hotel still charged our credit cards for two nights even though they weren't able to accommodate us checking in. I called the hotel the following Monday morning to speak to manager and manager said he saw my husband walk in the hotel but did not approach him nor did he let him know that he was present. After the manager changed his story a few times, I am pretty certain that the manager didn't approach my husband in the pitch black because my husband is a 6'4" African American male. I can't think of any other reason why a hotel manager won't greet anyone that walks into their establishment. To top things off, the hotel manager is still refusing to issue a refund for the two nights we DID NOT stay there!! How is this legal? I am in the middle of contesting the charge with my credit card company.

« Clean, decent place to stop in a small town »

We needed a place to stay between Little Rock and New Orleans and there are not many options in the small towns on highway 65. This motel is right on the highway. the rooms are spacious and clean. The bed was comfortable. The rooms are far enough back from the highway that road noise is not a problem. Breakfast was provided the next day and we had a choice of three kinds of cereal. Hot waffles, toast, bagels, muffins, yogurt, scrambled eggs, or sausage as well as coffee, tea, juice or hot chocolate.

    « Not the Best. »

I have stayed in Best Westerns in the past, but they have noticeably changed. They should drop the word "Best." When we first checked in we found that the flusher on the toilet did not work. I reported it right away but it took almost 45 minutes before someone showed up to fix it. The floors could have used a little more cleaning and the room was very warm. We couldn't regulate the air conditioner very well. The "breakfast lobby" was a little bigger than a bathroom with 2 small tables. Thankfully we were the only ones there in the morning. After we left, a family of 6 came in. That would have filled it up. The food was okay: bagels, pastries pre-made cheese omelettes, sausages, biscuits, gravy and waffles. Needless to say, we probably wouldn't stay there again.

« nice and very firm beds »

The room was nice, the bed was really firm, I woke up with a back ache, and I did not sleep well that night. Majority of the Best Westerns have such soft beds. Anyway, My back hurt for 2 days. I wanted to stay for the remainder of the weekend. I moved to Dumas Arkansas it was further drive back to business destination.

    « Clean and friendly »

The rooms were clean and the staff friendly and priced right for a family. We were traveling to New Orleans with a group of 12 and we all. Stayed at this hotel on our way. We had reserved the rooms many months in advance and had no problems when we got there.

    « Good nights sleep! »

Seems this is the best option for area. In this part of state you don't want to be driving at night......beyond dark roads. Easy reservation and check in was fast. This BW is older and not updated but I felt safe and it was clean. Shower was older and a little creepy but the bed was great! What a good nights sleep! If you are in this area I think it is the best option available.

« Well, this is pretty much all there is... »

We were exhausted and glad to have a bed, and the beds and toilets were clean, but the rest of the room...not so much. We were a little nervous about walking barefoot on the carpets, and the shower was questionable. Felt like we were staying in a motel 6 masquerading as a best western. I wouldn't recommend this place unless you had no other option.

« Typical small town hotel »

Stopped here on a cross country road trip. There are only two places in town to stay, and they are next door to each other. This is the nicer of the two. The other looks sketchy! Pros: Very nice manager, clean accommodations, huge flat screen, nice appointments, comfy beds. Cons: a little pricey, no fitness room, no breakfast.

    « A reliable hotel. »

The WIFI has been made very reliable and the desk chair in 102 looked new. This was much appreciated. Do go as early as possible for breakfast if you want hot food. We stop here whenever we travel from New Orleans to Little Rock.

    « Clean, basic »

This was just a place to sleep for us on the way to somewhere else. No frills but the motel was clean and fit our needs. It had a fridge and microwave, flat screen tv, and comfortable beds. We didn't try the breakfast. The only disappointments were no free coffee after 9 am and being woken by the cleaning person so be sure to put the Do Not Disturb sign on the door and ask for extra coffee packets when you check in.
