"hotel and food"
anthony d, 08 Février 2024

this resort for me and my wife got the best food aroud breakfast is great the food in general and the margaritas are superb is a little hotel but big in all phases food and attention i greatly recomend this place location is great i front beach hotel you can have your margaritas or snacks by the pool the service is awesome its quiet not to many people the pool is small but very nice we really enjoy our stay at this place

"Very Nice!"
Cmeinak, 14 Septembre 2022

The hotel is in a great location across the street from the ocean/beach. It's within walking distance to many shops, restaurants, attractions and park squares. Check-in staff is fluent in English. If the other staff don't speak English, then they are “fluent” in Google Translate. All staff are friendly and eager to please. Breakfast is very good. Daily there is a nice variety of food and beverages. You can also get dinners and drinks and then eat/drink them on the roof. The roof pool is very nice and there is a 360-degree view of the area. The hotel is kept clean and welcoming. Guest rooms are very nice and a bottle of water is provided daily. The reasons for not giving them 5 stars are that their website states they provide airport transportation. They do not. While there the pool needed maintenance and had to be closed the last couple of days of my trip. We could have used the pool at their other location but it was not within walking distance and they would not provide transportation. Also, It was odd that there were only Spanish speaking television stations. In other countries I have stayed the hotel usually provides at least one English speaking station. I would gladly stay here again!

"restaurant and staff"

"Excelent"
herrerarodolfo23, 16 Mai 2021

It was a great experience and location also a magnificent customer service all employees were very helpful. Rooms and facilities were very nice and clean. It will be a good upgrade if they have pack and play for babies and at least one wheelchair for emergencies. But in general FANTASTIC experience, thank you Best Western Mazatlán!

"WINTER REVIEW/STAY--54 degrees Fahrenheit tonight and NO HEAT"
Southerner456, 13 Janvier 2021

It's January 13, cold in the room, and there is NO HEAT. It's going down to 54 degrees F tonight. No heat and no space heaters available. Rooms are nice enough--small, no microwaves or refrigerators--but appear clean, and the staff is very nice, but we're freezing! Kind of cancels out the good. Except for the no microwave and refrigerator, it would probably be fine in the summer if you're not staying long. Rooms are too small for a long stay. Someone described this as a businessman's hotel. I would agree. Internet is good.

"Massage"
Caitmillar, 20 Janvier 2020

Please do not get a massage here. My mom and I had a double massage here together a few weeks ago. Our masseuse's were unprofessional and inexperienced. It was basically a lotion application and it was very intrusive and completely inappropriate. We have both sent letters to corporate headquarters explaining in detail our terrible experience; we still waiting to hear back.

"Business man's hotel"
Gracie5212, 05 Décembre 2019

Rooms were clean, it is on the beach. The bar and Carlos are good, the restaurant is iffy- breakfast was totally carbohydrates, nothing for just protein, supper was not great either. Only 50 rooms, narrow lot, not good for a long stay but ok for a couple of days.

"2 Star hotel, but clean and convenient"
Marj M, 18 Mai 2019

We had to stay here for 3 nights after our flight home was cancelled and the airline booked us into the BW. The WIFI was limited and we really had wished there had been a mini frig in the room, but the staff were polite and the hotel although dated was very clean. What we did like was how close the hotel was to some great restaurants (El Capitano and Ristorante Villa Italia) and a fun bar (Gus&Gus)

"Quick visit to Mazatlan"
Michael O, 25 Février 2019

The section of the city is excellent with the hotel right on the beach. The staff are wonderful and the amenities top notch. nightlife and culture are right outside the door and there are good restaurants in the area too. I would return.

"Great view but check your bill"
cjolibois, 10 Février 2019

Great view. But last couple of times they have been adding drinks to your bill..so double check.. we called them out on it they returned money .very quickly... figure a few dishonest employees ... double check you bill

"Comfortable Room, Pleasant Pool Area, Good Breakfast Buffet"
Richard289, 09 Octobre 2018

The Best Western in the Gold Zone has mixed reviews so we initially only booked for one night. But after having quiet restful comfortable sleep and enjoying the breakfast buffet we decided to stay for our second night. The hotel is small by some standards, but as such it is quiet and the common areas are not overrun. There are banks with ATMs, money change locations, several restaurants and beach bars withing walking distance. There are cabs, pulmonias and buses passing right by the hotel. There is parking onsite. We would certainly stay in this Best Western on another trip to lovely Mazatlan.

"Hotel"
Tracy H, 06 Mai 2018

This is a real gem. It is a small hotel in the historic area. It is well Located in a quieter area of Mazatlan. It is across the street from the beach so make sure to request a sea view room. We had a small balcony with two chairs which was nice in he evening. The best part is the rooftop bar and pool. The rooftop gives you a great view of the Old Historical area and is the tallest building in the area. They do offer breakfast. Their English is very limited but that didn't matter. I would highly recommend this funky Mexican hotel. P.S. Wouldn't remember eating here as their food is just ok. Get out and go to one of the other restaurants near the main church.

"Good location, GREAT service!"
DaveWells, 19 Avril 2018

Hotel Posada Freeman Zona Dorada is a good hotel in a great location. Every single one of the hotel staff was friendly, interested in their work and helpful. Breakfast buffet is quite good, service was excellent, and it's served until noon -- ours was included in our room price. Internet signal was poor on the 4th floor, excellent by the pool and in the lobby. The maintenance man and a bell boy fixed my suitcase, which was damaged on a train. I must say, though, that a player piano in the lobby plays ALL DAY in a loud, treble register, quite irritating even when I'm only spending a few minutes in the lobby -- please turn it way down and turn it off most of the time. Otherwise, it's a good hotel.

"Stay Away!!!"
BCdissapointed, 08 Mars 2018

Do not, I repeat, DO NOT stay here. There are two Best Western Posada Freemans in Mazatlan. The building downtown is ok, but the one in the Golden Zone is a mess. It's very noisy with clubs right outside the hotel. It smells. The breakfast is crap. And the staff are clearly on the defense. Either on purpose or by accident there are positive reviews for this property which should be for the other one. It was my mistake, and I should have known better, but I trusted the online reviews which are a mess. I paid for two weeks and wanted to leave early, but they wouldn't return my unused week or even put me up in the downtown hotel. Just to add to the annoyance, they charged $5 for a replacement room card.

"Location, Location, Location"
John M B, 22 Février 2018

Located in the Golden Zone, this facility is right on the beach will lots of beach walking and a shallow beach making swimming easy for all family members. The front desk staff are delightful and helpful, while the wait staff in the restaurant are attentive but not intrusive. The breakfast buffet is a delightful way to start your day.

"A Gem from 1944 Still Shines Today"
Stevan D, 28 Janvier 2018

Take the elevator to the 10th floor, then walk up two more flights to the rooftop pool surrounded by lounge chairs, plentiful towels provided by smiling attendants, enjoy the 360 degree panoramic view of the City, the Bay, the Cruise Port where giant ships from Princess and Carnival Cruise Lines frequent, and you'll experience a charming throw-back to Old Modern Mexico blended with the conveniences of modern hotel services. Pictures of the original property and it's furnishings adorn the lobby, allowing the visitor to imagine being at this lovely place when it was the talk of the town -- the first high rise hotel in Mazatlan. Charming. Good food and bar service. Friendly staff, and reasonable rates as part of the Best Western management chain. We'll be back.

"Love it!"
arelig75, 04 Juillet 2017

Everything was great! The food, the ocean view and the locality was very good. We stay there every time we go to Mazatlan. Love the sunset there and the commodity of the sun chairs. The rooms are very clean!

"I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!"
KellenKellen, 20 Juin 2017

This was my second time staying here and I'm really attached to this gem! The peaceful sound of the ocean waves late at night and the early mornings! I love the location. I love the breakfast buffet. I love the different sitting areas indoors and outdoors. I love how people come together at sunset and have the view. I love the easy beach access. I'm hoping I get to return next year!

"Vacation Feb 4 - 18."
RickJackie, 14 Février 2017

Can not say enough about how clean this hotel is. You smell disinfectant everywhere. A very good thing. Danial bell hop very friendly and helpful. Front desk very good. Maid staff very pleasant and welcoming every day, clean towels and facecloths everyday. Very good sit down breakfast included with room. Luis is a very good server. Staff ready to set up our table outside by the pool. Upgraded to a suite over looking the ocean. Coffee in the morning on the balcony. Sunset at night. Close to restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend. Only downside bar staff unattentive and hard to find and need to smile

"Beautiful,old school hotel"
classic_creators, 10 Février 2017

After a very interesting walk from Central Market, thru some beautiful old streets with gorgeous architecture,we finally found the Posada. As a first timer to Mazatlan I wasn't too sure where to find it,but locals and tourists help with directions . We came in the back entrance and were immediately encompassed by smiling staff and a beautifully maintained Queen of hotels. Look at the old photos and memorabilia in the main lobby's,take the elevator to the 9th floor(the elevator ride alone is worth it),check out the old stained glass and architectural notes, walk up two flights of stairs to the top floor bar, surrounded by windows to view Mazatlan. Then walk up two more flights to the roof top bar and pool. Check out that view, order what I say is the finest Piña Colada in Mazatlan and pretend your with the movie stars and rich that frequented this fine establishment over the years. Did I stay here?...no,but I shall in a future trip absolutely!! The front lobby is perfect to watch the ocean, with comfortable seating and big windows . I didn't see the menu or try the food but that will happen as well! What a great place!????????????

"Amazing views from the Skybar"
Ingrid J, 30 Janvier 2017

We visited the Sky bar for drinks and light snacks. Service was a little slow, but we were there to watch the sunset and it did not disappoint. You don't have to be a hotel guest to dine here. Its a great option if you've spent the day in Olas Altas, walking the malecón or visiting Centro Historico. Go up for a few drinks, relax and watch the sunset????

"Don't Miss the 360 Degree View of the City from the Roof Top Bar"
Norma J, 22 Octobre 2016

Take the elevator to the last stop and then walk up two flights of stairs. There is a sweet pool and a few tables and chairs. but it is the view that you must no miss. The entire city and surrounding laid out for your view. We had drinks, other reviews indicate lunch is possible. We were there in October, something of the off season so not crowded, but in my past visits it has never been crowded. I have not stayed at the Hotel but would definitely consider it. I love the location on the ocean front.

"One Of The Best Views From The Roof-Top Bar"
Paul D, 19 Octobre 2016

My wife and I did not stay there, but our taxi driver suggested the roof-top bar for a great view and place to have a light lunch and drinks. He took us to the old city and we went to the roof-top bar for a breautiful view. The Freeman hotel was built in the 1940s and purchased/renovated by Best Western. The lobby is attaractive and the hotel is clean and modern with a older and elegant feel. It is located on the Malacon in the older part of the city so it feels less touristy. Take the elevator an a flight of stairs to the roof to enjoy one of the best views of the city and the ocean. The drinks are excellent as well as the lunch. Enjoy!!! I will definitely stay here my next trip to Mazatlan.

"Rude front desk personnel "
Martina238612, 01 Octobre 2016

I arrived and spoke to Humberto (front desk) upon arrival. There was a confusion on the number of guests since I used Expedia. I understood it was my fault since I didn't double check the details. Anyhow the goal now was to figure out a solution. I asked Humberto my options and he was very curt and rude, he said "I already explained it to you". If a guest is asking it's obviously because one needs options. I've stayed at other best western hotels and this hotel is obviously subpar in comparison. Now, the breakfast is great, the personnel attending it, is attentive and polite. The complete opposite to the front desk personnel.

"Great little getaway!"
snicodemus60, 14 Août 2016

First time to Mazatlan, I was very impressed with the facility and staff. Gabriel was the concierge, he took very good care of us for the four days we were there. He speaks very good English and will help translate. Overall the staff, was very good and rooms meet my expectations. We picked a suite 501, which is their beachfront rooms. It was perfect, for the mornings and evenings sitting on the deck. Breakfast buffet was also good. No complaints at all on our vacation. Highly recommend this facility! We even had the pleasure to meet the general manager "Salvedor", he introduced himself and checked to see if everything meet our expectations. Pedro is one of the bartenders outside and also took very good care of us. Only issue that I would arise is the WIFI reception, but I liked it so we could enjoy the vacation!

"Well maintained but grounds are too small."
David L, 28 Juin 2016

We arrived on a Sunday and Mazatlan is bustling with tourists on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays that come from neighboring cities / states on tour buses. There was room for only one vehicle in the parking lot and cars were parked one behind the other. The bellman, Gabriel, took our luggage to our room right away, I gave him the keys to our vehicle and we checked in. After that, we went to eat at the restaurant which was reasonably priced although it took a while before they brought our food. If you want a less expensive meal, they have a restaurant next to the pool which sells, nachos, burgers, hot dogs, etc at a cheap price. After dinner, we went to the pool area where we sat while our kids swam. The pool's size is reasonable when you consider that the hotel has 50 rooms. However, there were a lot of people smoking and we couldn't avoid it because there is not much space if you want to sit close to the beach. There is probably about 8 to 10 yards of width space which is not much if you're trying to avoid a smoker while at the same time trying to enjoy the beach. There is also a condominium complex that is next to this hotel that looks like a 3rd world slum and you have a direct view of it. I think the hotel should raise the wall that divides the hotel and the condos just high enough so guests won't see it because it is quite an eyesore. Also, there were people smoking in the bedroom next to us even though the rooms are labeled as non-smoking. During the night, we could hear the traffic noise from the main street, Camaron Sabalo so I recommend that you ask for a room that's as close to the beach as possible. The next day, we ate a free breakfast buffet which was delicious and that's one of the highlights about this hotel. However, there was a huge group of kids that were competing in track & field who came to eat at the buffet as well. Many of them I felt sorry for, because they must have waited 1 to 2 hours before they ate breakfast because there wasn't enough room to fit them all. After that, we left and as I was driving, I heard a grinding noise. After stopping to check it out, it turns out that my vehicle was hit as it was being moved around in the parking lot which caused a small dent which caused the plastic cover below the front bumper to come off. Well, since hotels are not responsible for incidents like these, I wound up covering the repairs. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. There are others that have more room which is what this hotels needs.

"Quiet Sunset!!"
Avztrakt, 27 Mai 2016

My travel companion and I spent two nights at this hotel last spring, it was a very nice stay. The hotel is very well located, within walking distance from restaurants, small stores, and other hotels, plus best of all it is located right next to the beach. The room was clean and spacious, and had a view of the beach. The wifi signal was pretty strong and worked very well the whole time. The bar had very good drinks, which were not expensive at all. The breakfast was nice and with plenty of options. After having stayed at two other hotels in recent trips before this one, I would rather stay at this one when in Mazatlán again.

"Great roof bar/pool!"
Shana H, 08 Mai 2016

The location of the hotel is great - right across from the boardwalk and beach in the old part of the city. a short 10 minute walk to the central square that is filled with restaurants, artisans, the cultural centre and theatre. Stayed there for 3 days on business, the lobby is lovely and all the windows open up so ocean breezes come right through! The rooms themselves were old fashioned with an odd layout - one bed facing door and then the other hidden behind a half wall facing the opposite way? Some others in our group had rooms at the front so had lovely balconies and views of the ocean/beach but mine looked into an alley. So ask for one of the front rooms! Really nice breakfast buffet - the restaurant staff were lovely and helpful. But the BEST part of this hotel is the roof bar and pool! Fantastic views of the beach and old city!

"1 week stay - "
Isabelle I, 01 Mai 2016

We arrived , about 30 minutes from the airport , great location hotel room has view of the beach , and many restaurants in walking distance . When we booked it said it had an in room safe and that was not the case . We could give the front desk what we wanted and they would put it in their safe , we booked their because they had noted a safe in the room on their website . The staff were nice but I would choose another hotel on the golden zone next time .

"Try something else"
DamianPiza, 21 Avril 2016

Old building and with not so good maintenance. Rooms are wide and spacious, bed and pillows are OK, bathroom is clean but I couldn't open the shower's cold water, it was extremely hot and a placer where temperatures are around 35C is very unpleasant. Staff is not so friendly.

"Bygone era details"
Elaine M, 20 Avril 2016

We enjoyed the beauty of the hotel built in 1944. Waking up to the waves crashing on the beach was a dream. So convenient to restaurants and attractions. Look forward to returning for another stay at this great treasure.

"nice location, reasonble price"
418dnl, 12 Mars 2016

spent a couple days here because of a special price offer. was nice. maybe a little older rooms, but comfortable. Was much less humidity here than at other hotels on same trip. free breakfast was nice, but pretty limited menu. people at hotel and restaurant were very nice. service was great.

"Wow! Amazing Stay on the Beach!"
KellenKellen, 21 Février 2016

I was blown away by this smaller hotel's price & location! The facilities are clean and tranquil. The staff are professional. The free breakfast buffet was delicious. Many healthy options. These are my notes that I hope helps some others. The rooms have coffee makers. The 3rd, 4th, and 5th floor have partial views of the ocean (west side of the building). I was on the 4th floor and had my morning coffee on my balcony staring at the peaceful ocean. The rooms have free WiFi, HOWEVER, I did geek out and did my own research. I walked the halls on the 3-5th floors and found that the rooms closer to the ocean have the best WiFi...in fact, rooms 301-305, 401-405, and rooms 501-505 have the best WiFi connection. I was not in any of those rooms and WiFi barely worked in my room. I only mention this for folks who do "need" access to WiFi. Next time I would ask for a room "closer to the ocean" (from the rooms mentioned above) so I can get some of my work done while in MZT. There are so many amenities nearby and again, you can access the beach from the hotel and even view the beautiful sunsets from the lounge chairs. I LOVED THIS HOTEL! I hope I can return again :-)

"A couple of things to look out for..."
Ruby G, 05 Février 2016

First of all there are TWO BW in total opposite sides. There was a truck obstructing the view of this one and we literally took an hour to find it! After being happy to find it the receptionist gave me the most difficult time I've ever had at a BW (my fav chain to book with) she said I had to get two rooms instead of one for my parents to sleep in... It was back and forth with the sales team and they were finally able to scam me into paying for two additional people to stay in one room. Besides that issue we had a great time at the beach which is right behind this hotel not the other one on the other side of the land. And we went to the restaurant next to hotel called Alawa! I'm glad my parents enjoyed their trip to Mazatlan!

"Killer view from rooftop!!"
CDC_ALUMNI, 30 Janvier 2016

We walked from historical area by cathedral to the hotel and was pleasantly surprised with the killer views from the bar and pool area at top of building. All free to visit by public. Take elevator to 10th floor & walk to next two levels. View is spectacular & you can cool your heels in rooftop pool & enjoy a cold beer. Fantastic photo op!!!

"Good, Inexpensive Beachfront Hotel"
dls251, 29 Décembre 2015

I was happy with my stay at this hotel. I had a few snafus checking-in as their rate was incorrect despite me booking on the Best Western website. The room was large and clean and the breakfast was filling. The hotel has direct access to the beach. I thought it was a pretty good deal for what I paid.

"Little diamond"
Alejandro D, 15 Décembre 2015

Best hotel for the price service was excellent, from the moment we arrivec til we left great and clean room,,very clean the shower was wow,the restaurant and service was like a 4 star hotel, pool and bar excellent pool a bit small But who needs a big pool when the ocean edge is just a step away from the pool. Just dont know why is only a 2 star hotel, it shoud be a 3.5 to 4 star. Me the wife and the kids had a great time, just a walk away from other restaurant and shopping,Tell you guys a secrete when we went there a week before christmas i only payed $60.00 per night best deal ever.

"A tiny Hotel away from crows and noise"
Riktl, 23 Novembre 2015

We stayed four nights during November 2015 to attend an sports competition in the city. Upon our arrival, there was plenty of space at the parking lot which was very nice after a long drive to get there. The lobby was clean and modern but with some sort of automatic piano with the music way too loud. Anyway, Lupita, our front desk manager helped us through the check in process in a breeze. There is only one small elevator, so we had make a couple of trips to get our bags in our room. The room as clean, neat, with two beds and a terrace with a lateral view of the ocean. The beach was right next the tiny pool and bar, so the kids loved that. What we did not like at all was that the pool was way too cold to stay for more than 8 minutes. Actually, I noticed that it gets hardly any Sunlight during the day due the big constructions around. Probably good if you want to be away from big crowds, outdoors and in a nice shade with a Piña colada, which btw are 2x1 from 3 to 4pm. Breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 was very well served, fruits selection, fresh juices, flavored yogurt, scrambled eggs, chilaquiles, meat, pork, vegetables, beans, sausages, pan cakes, etc. Not the best found around, but very decent to get your morning going. Beds were one of the things they have to improve, I was fine, but my wife complained that they were way too hard. I would definitively consider stay here next year's tournament. If you want to stay away from big crowds steps away from a gorgeous beach with friendly personnel and eager to take care of you, this is the place...

"A nice quiet hotel for a quick trip"
DavidNeg12, 06 Octobre 2015

My brother and I made a quick weekend trip to Mazatlan to visit family and were looking for a nice clean hotel without all the bells and whistles. THIS IS IT. Overall we were impressed with the hotel service. Everyone on staff was very attentive and courteous. The room was very clean. Nothing fancy but nice and spacious with good A/C and cable TV. And the included breakfast buffet was really nice serving scrambled eggs, hot cakes, french toast, chilaquiles, fresh fruit, etc. I think we would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice relaxed place to stay away from the crowd of El Cid and other big hotels.

"Best Western Hotel Posada Freeman Zona Dorada"
merilyn h, 18 Avril 2015

We were on a road trip and stayed one night. The hotel has a very good beach and an excellent breakfast that came with the room. Parking was tight if you have a car. The staff was helpful. My Spanish is no good so am answering these questions to the best that am able. The room was very comfortable a very good value and good location next door to the El Cid.

"Decent Stay In Mazatlan"
Lanikai_808, 30 Mars 2015

I stayed at The Best Western Posada Freeman Zona Dorada in Mar 15' for 2 nights. Upon arriving at Mazatlan airport, I went to the taxi booth inside the airport and paid a flat rate around 330 pesos to the hotel. The drive took about 30 minutes. The hotel is located in the North part of Mazatlan right on the beach. Upon walking into the hotel the lobby was very modern and clean. An automatic piano was blasting music which made it hard to have a conversation. Check in was not a breeze, I booked two king size beds through Tripadvisor and Bestwestern.com. When I arrived the front desk claimed to only have one room reserved for my friend and I. I showed them the print out and after sometime they ended up giving my friend two double beds instead saying they were sold out of king bed rooms. The rooms were clean, but the size difference between my king room and my friends double room was noticeable. My friends room was small and he had toilet issues twice. The first incident the toilet would not flush, then it leaked. The hotel has a restaurant and free breakfast each morning with a good selection of food. They had many different salsa's which were spicy and flavorful. There is a swimming pool and bar in the rear of the hotel with direct beach access. There is a nice view of the deer and stone island. The hotel has three computers in the lobby, however two did not work. There is also free Wi-Fi, however my friend could not get access in his double bed room, I could in my king room. In conclusion my stay at Best Western Posada Freeman Zona Dorada was fine. It is a 15 minute taxi ride to central historic Mazatlan. They never did offer any compensation or discount to my friend even though they dropped the ball by not providing us with what we paid for. If I came back to Mazatlan, I would look into staying somewhere else. There is another Best Western, an express that is near central historic Mazatlan that might be worth looking into.

"Mazatlan Best Western"
R8576MEannm, 22 Février 2015

This hotel was beautiful. The room had a king size bed with was so comfortable. The view was ocean side and we had a balcony. We also enjoyed the wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning. Great selection and wonderful food. We will use this hotel again for sure.
