    « Shabby »

The hotel is very shabby, the rooms are dated and the corridors are grubby. The amenities in the room are basic and the overall feel of the place is not great. it does not represent any value for money. It is very overpriced.

    « Mixed feelings. »

This was a return visit for me, a base to stay whilst attending an event in Manchester. I have to say it was a bit like the proverbial "curate's egg". My room was in need of a refurb. Previously I've always booked a superior room, which have always been quite nice, but this time I opted for a cheaper alternative - lesson learned. To add to my disappointment, I was woken at 5am by someone knocking loudly on the door of the next room. Then followed over an hour of shouting, laughing and general banging about from what sounded like several men who had seemingly returned to the room at this late (or early?!) hour with no regard for other guests. Food in the bar was pretty good. Breakfast too was excellent - with a good range of good quality items, and pleasant staff too. Will I return? Possibly....

« Comfortable stay, not so convenient »

We chose to Park & Stay. We checked our bags in at the airport and then went to the hotel. Reception was efficient and pleasant and our room overlooked the car park. We decided to eat in. The meals were typical pub food, nothing to shout about but no complaints either. The bed was comfortable and the room was very clean. The next morning the taxi was prompt. However, it took about 30minutes to get to the airport. This was allowed for but it was tedious. On our return, once we collected our luggage, we phoned the hotel for a taxi to meet. By the time we got outside, the taxi was waiting. Again a tedious early morning ride in Manchester. Our car was under shelter and no problems. In summary, the hotel was very good but we may not choose to stay again because of the trip to the Airport. Maybe that is a little unfair on the hotel.

    « Never again! »

Myself, my husband and 8 week old baby were due to stay at this hotel Friday the 18th to Sunday the 20th November. Prior to us going I called the hotel to see if they provided a travel cot to which I was told they had put us in a double room despite me booking for 2 adults and 1 child and so no cot would be provided; I was subsequently told that she would make a note of this on the system but could not guarantee us a family room (not a great start so far). For one reason and another we didn't end up going until the Saturday; when we arrived the reception is up a flight of stairs with no ramp or lift access to carry a pram up to. At reception the kind lady we spoke to said she would put us in a family room which we were pleased about - however, this was on the first floor with a large flight of stairs and again no lift access! Not ideal for carrying bags, a baby and a pram! We put our stuff in anyway and went out for the afternoon, on our return the room had a foul, strong smelling stench of drains and sewerage. We called the reception and they had maintenance up right away which was good and the maintenance man was very kind and very apologetic. He said it was a hole in the u bend which he could put some silicone over but we were not prepared to have our 8 old baby stay in that rancid smell. We were then informed by the reception team that there were no other rooms to put us in as they were fully booked for the night! One refund later we were on our way back home with a 2 hour drive in front of us and a very tired, cranky baby. Not an ideal end to what was meant to be a nice family weekend away. For anyone who needs a child friendly or disabled access hotel this isn't the one for you!

    « Clean comfortable hotel »

Hotel clean and comfortable but rooms quite small and cramped. Poor check in experience as I was given a room that was already allocated to another guest. We had not booked breakfast but not given any information about cost, how to book or servimg times so we went out to eat instead. Felt reception staff couldnt be bothered to put themsleves out. Hotel bar very comfortable but stocked linited basic range of drinks.

« So many things wrong with this hotel »

We did not have a pleasant experience at this hotel. Firstly, the receptionist had strange customer service and wasn't that friendly. When you arrive, you have to go up a big flight of stairs to get to the reception. We were given a room on the far side of the hotel. So we had to go up another set of stairs and walk ages and ages, growing through probably 6 fire doors. This becomes such a hassle when we have so much luggage to carry and have to open a heap of doors. It's so easy to put an elevator in! These corridors also have such a strange bad smell. Once we walked into our room, it smelt so strongly of cigarettes. And we realized our toilet wasn't flushing. We went downstairs to tell the receptionist and her response was "this is a non smoking hotel". We obviously knew that but someone has broken that law because it stunk so bad. The toilet ended up flushing but it was evident something was wrong with the plumbing because the bathroom stunk of urine. The room was very basic and I think it's clear the whole place needs a serious refurbishment. The reception and breakfast area was so lovely looking though strangely. The receptionist did finally apologize in the morning about our experience but it came across like she didn't believe us when we said the room stunk of cigarettes. The only good thing about the hotel was the breakfast, the parking and the wifi. Besides that, we would never stay here again.

    « Not A Comfortable Stay! »

We stayed at this hotel because family were holding an event there so figured we might as well book a room and stay the night. Think we would should have driven 3hours home or book elsewhere. The public areas were decent but the rooms..... Rooms are in desperate need of renovating and needs gutting. There were stains on the ceiling, pulsating shower couldn't keep pressure and you couldn't even stand under as it was too low. The door latch was broken and the room was the size of a shoebox. No literally. We had to move the desk chair each time we wanted to walk round the bed. Which is not fun when you are getting up and night to use the loo. We asked for an iron and board and when we went to use it we noticed it was broken and cracked in the corner which let the majority of water leak out all over your shirt. Great. Loooooong walks to your room and poor soundproofing so could hear everyone walking buy and the people drinking until the early house of the morning. We stayed in rooms 123 & 126. The rooms are described as the more modern rooms....? NOTHING modern about them. Would not recommend this hotel.

« Good for pure business trip alone »

I came for a training course in Manchester. I picked this one for this location and the attractive price. It does not disappoint me. It might not the choice for honey money of your first marriage. Anyway it is ok for someone who comes alone for business. Comfortable and clean bed. Clean toilet. No worry about food as there is a Macdonald next to it. It opens from 6am to midnight. This hotel encourages people to eat at middle of night. Pizza and nacho available from 10pm to 10am. Anyway I don't want to trouble the night-shift chef. There is a Sainsbury supermarket nearby. So everything is very convenient.

    « Underwhelmed in Manchester »

***NO LIFTS**** I repeat ****NO LIFTS**** this hotel was booked on our behalf by a promoter and I wasn't aware that there weren't any lifts. There are 3 flights of fairly steep stairs to reach Reception on the 1st floor and when I mentioned the lack of lifts, the reply was 'It's all on our website' - helpful.....there was a concierge who could help us lug our bags up the stairs - but you only find that out once you've lugged your bags up the stairs!! The receptionist couldn't find our booking despite telling her it was made on our behalf and we provided a booking reference. This went on for about 10 minutes until in the end, the booking was confirmed and we were told it was a twin room despite it stating that we'd got a double room on the paperwork.....all this after travelling for 4 hours. We tried the food - don't opt for the carrot soup..... On the plus side, the shower worked, the bed was comfortable and the night porter and the day shift receptionist on the 12/11 were very helpful. I wouldn't stay there through choice.

    « Awful !!! »

I can honestly say that this will be the last time I stay here, I have stayed here a few times in the past and the standard just seems to be getting worse. The room i stayed in was No.76 and my colleagues who stayed there said I had the best room !!! The bed was a double and it was crammed into an alcove with only approx' 8" space either side of the bed meaning sliding in sideways. The bathroom couldn't have been smaller with one false move on my part and id have fallen through the glass shower screen. Some of the staff have no idea about customer service, when my two colleagues and I checked in the receptionist did everything in her power to try to get us to share a room despite the fact that 3 rooms were booked for us and she was most put out when we said NO!!. The breakfast was buffet style and looked like it had been sitting there for a day or two. The floorboards in the corridor were creaky and you could hear people walking past every time.

    « Disappointed »

The condition of toilet in the room was not aligned with my standards of hygiene. The front desk manager recognized my concern and acknowledged the problem. He was kind of enough not to charge for the night and for the remaining nights I moved to another hotel.

« Nice location on the suburbs of the city »

Nice hotel, comfortable and with a lot of space. There is coffee and tea in the roo and internet works just fine. We didn't opt for breakfast. There is parking available for 5 ponds/night. There are a lot of restaurants nearby, including a Mc Donalds just next door. The hotel is 20 min of the city center by bus. The bus stop is just few meters of the hotel.

    « Afternoon Tea »

Having been given a "Red Letter Day" present of an afternoon tea for 2, we looked up our nearest venues to claim it. The Willowbank Hotel, which will apparently just be the Hallmark Willowbank Hotel after this month, no longer Best Western, was our nearest. We were served a really lovely tea in the Lounge of the hotel, big pots of tea, a round of very tasty cheese and tomato sandwiches, a round of another lovely variety of cheese and onion sandwiches and a round of hummus, avocado and lettuce sandwiches between us, a pastry cake, an eclair and a scone with clotted cream and jam each ! It was very prettily presented and the lady who looked after us there was very helpful and friendly. It was such a tasty treat and didn't half brighten up a damp and dreary day. The portions were very generous and we left the hotel very full and happy !!

    « Over for match »

Came over for match and we booked in here. Rooms were good. Taxi to city is only £12 r u an get bus outside for £1. Staff were very helpful and nice too. Only downside to the hotel is the set of stairs u have to climb to get to reception! But over all a great stay ????

« Night away with friends »

Went here with my boyfriend and 8 of our friends for one night for a birthday. Don't know why everyone's reviews are so bad, we thought it was a lovely hotel! Ideal for a one night stay in Manchester. We paid £364 for 5 rooms which is an amazing price compared to some hotels we had looked at. We all sat in one room and had a few drinks before we went out and I admit we were a bit loud but the hotel didn't complain about us which is a first for hotel staff. The receptionist couldn't do more for us, when we went to pay parking on our exit the woman stated it didn't matter and we didn't have to pay which was a bonus! Will definitely go back to this hotel if we find ourselves in Manchester again.

    4
« not bad for the price »

The staff at this hotel coped well with difficulties and were very friendly. My room originally smelt overpoweringly of bleach and when I mentioned this the over-worked receptionist transferred me. However, the other room was dirty so I transferred back to me room where the smell had receded somewhat. Breakfast was fine and the staff pleasant but the whole ambience was a little rundown.

    « Won't be back! »

Booked this hotel as was close to Manchester apollo. No lifts. All carpets leading up to rooms could do with changing! Overpriced hotel. Overnight stay at £114 including parking. Only good thing about this hotel was the bar area. Despite a birthday party going on and kids running riot! We stayed in room 30. Room itself was ok. Shower was useless .Too cold then too hot!! Complained on check out and was promised some money back!

    « airport transfer »

Stayed here for one night in July and parked car for 15 nights,we found the hotel clean and the staff helpful, the car park is very secure and the taxi firm they use for airport transfers was late going and i had to remind the reception that we had booked one hour before, but they were on time for the return. We did not eat here but there are plenty of places nearby.

    « Never again »

I booked this hotel as part of my husband's birthday and our wedding anniversary we have never been in Manchester. After picking up our keys to our room (41) we went down a dingy corridor opened the door to a dimly lit room that because one of the lamps had no bulb the chain on the door was broken and there was graffiti on the wall and chipped cup we asked the reception for another one not done eventually left a note for housekeeping We are going to have our anniversary dinner to be told it was only bar food I will Definitely go back to Manchester but not to this place .

« Ok hotel disrespectful guests »

Hotel staff need to be able to handle disrespectful guests. A completely ruined weekend due to lack of sleep and dealing with idiots smoking and drinking in rooms, playing loud music and screaming and shouting. This is not the fault of the hotel but staff could have handled it better.

    « Hotel good »

« 0 Feedback from the Hallmark Hotel »

This Hotel took a 60 Euro deposit for my stay for the night in cash. I checked out very early the following day figuring that they would simply deposit the excess, or charge me the difference if there were any on the hotel stay. Instead they charged me 60+ Pounds sterling on top of the cash deposit. Now this can be a minor administrative error So i sent the 3 emails over a 2 weeks time period asking them to correct their error as well as called the hotel dirrectly where promise was made that the issue would be addressed. But it hasn't my emails are left unanswered and they aren't read either. I have stayed in many BW hotels but this is by far the worst On top of the hotel charging me double the room was dusty and cold as the heating did not work.

« Good Value for Money »

This hotel is very good value for money. We left our car here and the hotel provided taxis which arrived promptly for our journey to and from the airport. However, traffic can be a problem, particularly at busy times. We were greeted well at check in by a very nice young man. Our room was clean and quite adequate for our needs (1 night). The bed was comfortable.

    « Very good stay »

I stayed in this hotel near manchester city center (very well linked with bus and other line) and the room was bigger than other normal room and well done. We enjoyed so much our stay here and certainly we would love and hope to return.

« Even taxi drivers get parking fines! »

As a minibus driver who waited twenty minutes for customers (they asked for 12.15 pickup, finally surfaced at 12.35), imagine my surprise at receiving through the post a fine from Parking Eye. Apparently "waiting" is the same as parking. The signs are unlit, the small print is extremely small, certainly not obvious after midnight. After the fact I was told that everyone gets 15 minutes free, this isn't clear from the outside signage and as reception is upstairs I wouldn't have left the vehicle unattended to check. As a previous poster states, third party car park management or not, it's a shoddy way to treat people using your hotel. John E, Manchester

« Very enjoyable stay. Staff are warm and welcoming! »

Stayed for 2 nights in September 2016. No complaints at all with the stay. Ideal location between Manchester city centre and the Airport. The receptionist (Parice I think) was very attentive and helpful. Would happily stay here again when visiting Manchester.

    4
    « A Good Base »

The hotel is perfectly adequate, the ladies on reception are very helpful, we didn't eat here as we were visiting friends in Manchester, there was a wedding reception going on, but we did not hear any of it. The rooms, particularly the bathrooms are looking a bit tired, but having said that, they are clean and perfectly acceptable. Tip: if you stay for a couple of nights and put the sign out for no room clean you get a free drinks voucher from reception! Didn't spot the sign until we were leaving though! Easy to get into the centre, we would stay again.

« Great Venue -but with a sting in the tail ! »

We attended for a family birthday celebration. The Hot and cold buffet provided, was first class and included a great selection of for both meat eaters and vegetarians. The salads were excellent. The function room we used was well laid out and decorated and furnished to a high standard. The staff were friendly, particularly the chef , I did get the impression however that some of the waiting on staff were keen to get off home. We enjoyed our food and the pleasant surroundings. However and here is the sting in the tail, the Hotel has a small pay and display car park, we dutifully paid for two ours parking and departed following the function only to receive a £100 parking fine through the post a few days later. Not impressed Willow Bank and Great Western, all of your efforts and hard work undone. Several of our group were staying at least two nights and had hired the function room and catering, this is not the way to reward or encourage good custom. Before you try to do so , please don't deflect the blame on to the third party company who you have engaged to manage your car park.

    1
    « Don't do it »

Well what can I say. In my opinion you would have to pay me to stay here. Noisy, no electricity, zero sleep due to what I presume is extractor fans, recycling glass bottles at midnight, other guests, functiona going on till 4 am which would of been known at our time of booking as we booked 2 weeks before, not listening to allergen advice. Blunt rude replies from emails after we complained and all of this for 130 pound. Oh and the smallest kingsize bed ever. The 1 out of 5 is for the breakfast staff and the poor woman on reception who felt our pain. Having stayed at other best westerns before and being a gold customer I feel I have a valid opinion to voice about what's acceptable and this service and customer care is not.

« Beware £100 car park fine, In addition to an angry and rude staff member. »

Even though we put our Reg number as guest on their monitor, still received a fine of£100. I took both a picture of my father in law reg number and sister iin law car, and gave it to the receptionist who confirmed that she had done so for me. Rung on 26th September in the afternoon to explained that the reception staff put it on for me. The receptionist was so rude on the phone! Unbelievable rude! So beware of their £100 car park fine! Plus mannerless staff. Daylight robbery and nasty!

« It was okay only because we used tastecard! »

From the outside its not clear which door to do into for the Willowbank restaurant. We had soup to start (described as too cheesy by people that ate it) but don't think that is a bad thing and pate with too much pate for bread to be provided. Main course we ordered sea bass with cous cous. Fish was great but cous cous bland. Spare ribs looked straight out of Aldi packet and Green thai curry was okay. No puddings as the sundaes were not available. Total for two courses for three people was £34 but thats cause we used a taste card with 50% off. Had I had paid full price would have been really disappointed. But with taste card it was pretty good with all the floors

    « Hit and miss »

Short and sweet this one as not much to say to be fair. Rooms nice and clean, bar and reception really good and good friendly staff. This would have got a five star review however we were double booked and had to wait almost an hour for a room. The main attraction though without doubt (which is main reason for our stay to be frank) is the massive novelty chair in the bar area. #winner........love jim&jess xxxx

« Needs a lot of TLC but fine for one night »

Stayed here for one night last weekend. I had accidentally booked the wrong night - but the receptionist managed to find me a room available - a twin bedded budget room, I had booked a standard room - but none was available - however, I was charged the same for a budget room - so it should have been cheaper - but as she was doing me a favour and it was late I had no choice - but as I had not actually paid for the room it seemed odd she still charged me the higher rate. Anyway, I was tired. The budget room -Number 25 - was basic but ok for a night. I would not want to stay there any longer. The carpet up the stairs and in the room needs renewing urgently - it was old and fusty. The room had a good tv and the beds were comfy. The bathroom was dingy and the lino on the floor was curled up at the edges where the damp had attacked it. It was very old lino and grim. The shower did not work well - the plunger kept popping back up so the water reverted to coming out of the tap and not the shower head. There was a low beam just before the window - about head height and I managed to bang my head on it in the morning in the half light as I went to the window - it needs padding on it as it is too easy to hit your head on it. I did not eat there - the breakfast was over priced so we went elsewhere the next day. It is very handy for the Curry Mile which I love - about a 20 minute walk away.

« Sent me a parking fine of £60, when I stayed in the hotel on those dates. »

Hotel was below average. No proper lighting and beds were not really comfy. On top of that they have sent me a parking fine for the dates I stayed in the hotel and parked in their front parking area. I wasn't really bothered about writing a bad comment for the hotel at the first place but after receiving this fine, its going online. Although I have appealed through their agency called Parkingeye, they don't have any customer care number so contact is only through the wesbite enquiry form.

« Not That Good At All »

I stayed here for two nights while on a Blakes Coaches holiday in August, my room was rather small not very well ventilated unless you opened the window, there was no air conditioning or,lift d as my room was on the second floor it was a bit of a bind.Service in the dining room was not that good at all with insufficient staff on duty, not an experience I'd like to repeat.

    4
    « Comfortable »

Comfortable hotel to stay at for the night. The room we stayed in was tiny, but the bed was comfy and quiet. I had a great night's sleep. Has several restaurants nearby. We didn't include breakfast in the rate, but rather went across to Sainsbury's cafe across the road. There's plenty of parking, which is £5 for the night.

« Useful for one night »

Stayed at this hotel for just the one night after going to see cricket at Old Trafford. Situated on a very busy route in Manchester city centre . The hotel was fine for one night however this must have been the smallest bedroom I have ever been in not space to walk down the side of the bed Very polite helpful reception staff with good local knowledge when asked about getting in to Manchester. The hotel is right next door to a Macdonalds handy for late snacks and only minutes from the curry mile famous in Manchester Won't be staying again but served a purpose for one night

    « Holiday 2016 »

We used this hotel for an overnight stay prior to flying from Manchester and will not bother again. Whilst the initial appearance when entering the hotel looks acceptable the room allocated was so small it was difficult for two people to move around with any comfort. Also to get to the room with two cases was difficult and we were lucky not to have climbed stairs to get to the room but there are step stairs to access the reception.

    « Third time unlucky »

I stayed here at the weekend, and the title refers to the fact that we had 3 different rooms for a one night stay! Having booked a twin, we were given keys to a double room this was quickly rectified before we had settled in Room number 2 was a decent sized twin, bathroom slightly grubby , but was Ok. So we unpacked and started getting ready to go out. At around 8 pm the most awful noise seemed to be coming from under us, a disco or party or similar I went to reception to ask about how long the party was on for, as although we were planning to be out for a meal, we weren't going to be late. The receptionist advised that we were nowhere near the function suite, our room was actually above the car park, this dreadful Racket was coming from another guest room on the floor above. She assured me she would go and have a word and ask them to turn the music down, so we went out for our meal. When we returned at 1015 ish the noise was just as bad, as well as music there was plenty of shouting too. It was another receptionist on duty by then who was having difficulty locating which room the noise was coming from. We asked to be moved, now to our room number3which was a small twin with the beds pished together further along the corridor and seemed to be ok, overlooking the internal carpark . However the room was quite warm and when we opened the window there was noise all night from the air con units in the yard outside We did manage to go to sleep, but between 2 and 3 am were woken by many drunken people passing in the corridor outside, shouting and saying their good nights, and slamming doors. This may well go down as one of the worst experiences I've had in a hotel It's a shame as the public bar and reception areas are smart and the staff actually dealt efficiently and effectively with my complaints. I feel it may be a regular occurrence though Absolutely not recommended.

« Hidden Car Park Charges on Check-out »

We've stayed here a few times as my husband has to attend the Christie for cancer treatment. It's expensive enough to stay as we have to make several trips a month, but then to be surprised by a £5 car park charge on checkout was not good, especially when I asked about this on check-in and told don't worry about that!!

    « Worst Hotel I've ever stayed in ! »

This hotel is the pits of the earth. Arrive at check in after a long journey to be told that the rooms we have booked (2 family rooms) don't exist...great start. Eventually after the miserable receptionist taking forever to look through the rooms whilst waiting with 2 tired children she finds us 1 family room.....and it has air conditioning....result I thought. Gets to the room...no way of turning air conditioning on....had to call reception and wait for someone to come up. Air conditioning on.....unit too small for the room so had to open the windows anyway. Now upon first entering the room there was a bad smell which I want sure where it was coming from....later found out it was the bed sheets....the beds stank so badly of greasy bodies I had to lay my own t shirt over the pillow in an attempt to mask the smell. This was all pointless as there was no way I was getting any sleep. The mattress of the bed was non existent and actually hurt to lie on it. Laid duvet over mattress....still like trying to sleep in a ball pond. The most uncomfortable bed (if you can call it that) I've ever had to try to sleep on. Had to get up early for a plane the next day....the bathroom was disgusting.....I felt like I needed a shower after I'd been in it. The shower was too hot and unable to control the temperature. Glad to see the back of this hotel....ruined the start of our holiday all of us were really tired thanks to getting no sleep. I've stayed in better Travelodge hotels which are much cheaper. To be honest you'd have to pay me to stay at the hotel the money I paid for the 2 rooms was not worth it at all.

Having stayed at this hotel several times we were very disappointed to see the standards had slipped since our last visit and under its new owners - breakfast items were cool/cold and - eggs ran in oil and choice and qualify was not as before - staff on the whole were nice but some lacked good friendly helpful relationship skills - if your lactose intolerant don't ask for soya milk in the restaurant - they don't have it. Next time when in Manchester it will be a fresh choice of hotel sadly.

« May be OK if you're a foreign school trip. »

I've watched this hotel gradually go downhill over the last year. The new owners have clearly adopted a policy of pitching at the cheap foreign tours market, cramming lots of kids into small rooms. This is sad, because the staff are still the same, and lovely. The breakfast is really good - unless the kids have got there first. But the whole place is looking very tired and overstretched. And the rooms are always hot! Even with the radiators off and the windows open (which lets in the noise from the main road in front, the MacDonalds on one side and the Royal Mail delivery office on the other). Which makes the winter-weight duvets rather unhelpful. My most recent room had three single beds crammed in. And the side panel of the damaged bath fell off - whilst I was in it. And no TV remote control. Now the manager will know who I am, because I complained as I left - hopefully for the last time.

    « Sub standard »

We stayed here on our wedding night in the "bridal suite". The room was very dated but was very big. However it was stifling hot. No one knew how to work the air con unit in the room, no one could find us any fans so we had to open all windows which then meant we had the sound from the main road. TV was too small for room. Hotel needs easier to understand signage to each room as it is like a rat warren. Could not stay here if you need a lift as there isn't one it is stairs everywhere. Staff weren't very accommodating. However breakfast was very nice.

« Good location for airport but that's about all it has going for it. »

We had a family room which was a double bed and a double sofa bad. The room was overlooking the car park and was so hot it was ridiculous! It was a hot day admittedly but the room had no air conditioning so we left the windows open but then there was constant noise of shouting and car horns from outside until the early hours-and it was only a Wednesday night! Plenty of food places close by but not the most desirable of areas. Only a ten minute drive from the airport which was handy but that's about the only positive thing I can say about it.

    « Cold shower »

Have stayed here a couple of times recently and the hotel is still reasonable value, staff excellent breakfast good next day, rooms comfortable etc, but a few little issues are becoming evident, namely with the water system as indicated in other reviews, last time I stayed the hot water tap wouldn't turn off it was almost welded on, this time the shower was freezing, both different rooms at different sides of the hotel, think plumbing needs sorting BW!

    « Tired and shabby »

Stayed here for 2 nights recently; my company normally books us into the Premier Inn Stockport south but it was full. The Willowbank wasn't a pleasant experience - firstly no-one would answer the intercom to let me into the car park, then there's a hike up a steep staircase to reception with no lift. My room was tired and shabby - net curtains hanging off the rail, blown double glazing and the pedal missing from the pedal bin in the bathroom. The kettle had some residue of what might have been burnt milk in it; when I attempted to call reception to ask them to change it, the phone didn't work. On investigation, the phone had been unplugged and the lead hidden under the carpet behind the bed. The carpet under the bed was filthy. Dinner the first night was undercooked pasta; pork schnitzel the second night was good. The breakfast had limited choice and the food on the hot buffet had clearly sat for some time. All in all a very disappointing stay and I've asked not to be booked here again.

    « Wedding Bliss »

We had our wedding at the willowbank in July of this year, the venue is homely, welcoming and offers the facilities in good size for which you except of a wedding. The room for which the wedding breakfast/evening reception is held is beautifully decorated and designed to entertain, on the evening the room feels much bigger than it seems in the day. The winning part of this hotel is the people, they are forever helpful, smiley and chatty and this is no understatement they have the best staff there for this industry. Emily Nunn, who operated as our wedding co-ordinator was fantastic, she spent a year with us preparing and there wasn't a week where we didn't speak about something to do with the wedding, all the ideas we had no matter what were discussed. On arrival the day before, the manager Damian came out to our cars and carried our luggage in from the rear car park. We required a complete gluten free menu as my wife is coeliac, this was no problem the chefs Alan, John and Clement were fantastic. The other staff which assisted in keeping us fed and well watered throughout the day were Josh, Aneta, Anna, Ola, Ryan, Jake and Mike. I can recommend this hotel to anyone as the people and quality of the rooms and facilities are great!

« Ideal when visiting the University »

Five of us, in 2 rooms, stayed here the night before my daughter's graduation. Good location, cheap taxi to the uni. Brilliant helpful staff both when we checked in and out - nothing was too much trouble. We booked a family room and an executive double. The family room was much better value than the executive double. In fact, there were a few things we didn't like about the 'so-called' executive room. Firstly, it was tiny to what we were expecting. They had run out of some toiletries, specifically body wash, according to reception. Housekeeping had put extra shampoo in each bathroom but no body wash at all, so we had to go and buy some. Not a big problem as there is a Tesco in walking distance but good thing we arrived a sensible time plus had the time to go shopping! There were not enough towels in the double room - double room, booked for 2 person occupancy and only 1 set of towels. The room was incredibly hot and stuffy, no air-con. Reception did provide a fan when we asked though it was very noisy. The bathroom of the executive room definitely needed some TLC. The secure parking is good. The bar was good and the breakfast was excellent.

I have stayed ay The Willowbank many times and always receive the same high service. The food in the restaurant is excellent, the staff are all friendly and helpful. The rooms are comfortable, free WiFi

« Two nights stay with great friends »

I felt a bit worried when i had read some of the reviews of previous people after the hotel had been booked. We have stayed there this weekend. Even though we couldnt have a meal in the resturant, we had food in the bar which i must say was excellant. The room was good and the staff were very helpful. We would stay again.

    « Felt a bit deceived »

The name Best Western - like the brand - affords a benchmark of expectation... The Hallmark in Manchester fell way below my expectation - but then - perhaps its me who didnt read the label.. No lift. Reception on first floor. No air conditioning. Restaurant closed for the weekend, Was not too happy. A Bit Bazil Fawlty - as only 2 staffmembers to support hundreds of guests.

    « 1 nights stay! »

We stayed here for 1 night before we headed off to crete? a bit dated, rooms pretty small, decorated dark which makes it look smaller but ok for 1 night but wouldn't stay any longer, very near to pubs, fast food takeaways & shops.

    « Not so great »

Went here with a Wowcher, should not have bothered. Got there, told we could get bar snacks, went to bar, nobody serving had to tell reception, then told no we're not doing bar snacks as we have a wedding on and chef too busy, try later. Room bit pokey and very dated decor. Bathroom seemed new and nice but toilet cistern ran all the time and wouldn't flush more than once. Told staff about this later on and they just said 'oh sorry'. They rang us a cab to go to curry mile some 1.5 miles up same road, were ripped off, cabbie didn't put meter on and charged us £5 for journey should've cost £2.50 - £3. We were verbally abused on street by curry mile and also restaurant charged us double for bar bill so we had to argue our point to say we only had one drink each at a cost of £7 for the two. Not a great visit to Manchester, won't go back there. Have to say breakfast was very nice.

« Decent at the price »

The Best Western Willowbank feels a bit neglected when you arrive at reception and move towards your room. The decor is all a bit dated and worn down, which is not uncommon in these kinds of hotels. The rooms are tiny, though functional and I managed to have a nice nights sleep, which at least is a thumbs up for the bed an pillows. Even though the hotel seems to be on a main strip, my room was not too noisy. The restaurant and bar have had a spruce up recently and do not feel as dated as the rest of the hotel, and the food was quite nice. This goes for both the evening meal, which was decently priced and for the breakfast buffet which had everything I wanted and a bit more. Overall don't expect luxury, but for the price a perfectly decent place to put your head down for a night.

    « Perfect wedding venue »

We chose this place last year after being overwhelmed by the friendliness of Emily the deputy manager who took over the whole running of our big day with an attention to detail which was second to none. Josh ran the reception bar effortlessly and many guests commented on his charming demeanour and nice smile, he couldn't do enough for anyone. Mahi oversaw the bar and service in the Gallery restaurant and again was extremely helpful and friendly. The service the staff provided was exactly as you would wish for your big day; they were always behind the scenes pulling everything together with epic timing and yet they were right where you wanted them when you had a question or needed a drink! A credit to the chef and his kitchen for bringing to life our supplementary menu, as well as catering for our guests many intolerances. Everyone spoke highly of the food and we have to thank him for not only a delicious wedding breakfast, but an equally tasty evening buffet that was enjoyed by all. The room we were provided with was beautiful and spacious with gorgeous decorations and lots of room for ladies to get ready in! It was also a lovely retreat for me and my new husband and would make any guest feel like royalty. All in all, when people ask us about our wedding day and whether we got to enjoy it as so many brides and grooms do not, I think of Emily, Josh, Mahi and their talented kitchen and wait staff and can say with a smile I had the best team for the job. What a memorable service.

    « Rip off parking »

Having stayed at the hotel previously, I knew that if you wanted to park in the secure parking, the cost was £5 a night. But previously the parking spaces in front of the hotel were free. Now the charge is the same as the secure area. To me the charge is very expensive - £35 a week in a hotel which isn't cheap to start with. The hotel is ok, although the layout is very confusing as there are several areas of up and down short flights of steps on each level. Reception annoyingly is upstairs meaning that you are hauling your luggage upstairs as there's no lift to reception. I only had breakfast in the hotel, which is buffet style and perfectly fine. The dinner is expensive and there are several restaurants near by which are better value. The location is good for getting into the city centre as there is a bus stop with frequent buses costing only £1 straight outside. There is little comparable competition in the area which is why I returned.

« Not an airport hotel! »

One word for this place..... VILE! We were sold this 1 night stay as an airport hotel with parking. Nothing of the sort!! We arrived with a baby with buggy another child and 4 suitcases all looked OK until I went to the reception desk (up some stairs) to be told there were absolutely no lifts in the hotel!!! Shocking. No buggy access, no wheelchair access and clearly miss sold as an airport hotel! We were put in one of the top floors and had to be helped with our luggage. Arrived in the room and no cot for the baby so had to call down to reception. The place was filthy!!!! Cigarette burns in the curtains, what looked like blood all over the window sill. The window didn't look safe so we had to ask our 5 year old to sleep in our bed, my husband was up all night itchy!! We booked this hotel to ensure our family got a decent sleep for our early flight as we live 2 hours away and we had no sleep all night!!! Absolutely awful, there was a wedding in the hotel (so clearly not an airport hotel) I'm all for a joyous occasion but the guests were shocking!! Loud all night, drunk guests right outside our bedroom door shouting and leaning on it!! This went on until we got up at 4am! We had to cart 4 suitcases down the narrow and what felt like a thousand steps then carry our children down them but there were still people from the wedding making noise and woke my baby up!! Not what I expected from an 'airport hotel' there was no one on the desk when I wanted to check out and had to use a phone to phone someone!! Not what u need when you have a flight to get to! I will never ever stay here absolute joke of a place and I'm surprised hallmark have put their name to it recently! Total false advertising and disgusting!! No sleep either! Just an awful experience be aware and do not book!!!!!!

    « Reasonable hotel »

Recently returned from a two night stay in this south Manchester hotel, which was booked by my employer. My allocated room was a touch on the 'snug' side, and only just about accommodated the bed (which was firm, but comfy). Whilst clean, I considered the room would benefit from an update: There was no in room safe (although valuables could be left in reception), and the air conditioning was of the more traditional "open the window" method. I see from responses to other reviews that the hotel is going through a phased refurbishment, I presume the updated rooms resolve such issues? On the plus side, coffee and tea making facilities were available in the guestroom. Because it's located up on the first floor, and with a not-insignificant climb up some quite narrow stairs, I didn't consider the reception area to be the most accessible. That said, all staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and professional. The adjoining restaurant offered a good quality breakfast buffet, and tasty evening meals. All in all, a reasonable hotel. Clean, with friendly staff, but needs a bit of updating.

    « Celebration weekend »

We found the hotel very pleasant nice and clean and the staff very helpful we were very disappointed that the restaurant was closed on a Saturday evening after a long drive from Kent we were meeting up with family for a celebration and would have liked to have been able to use the restaurant .

    « Not good »

Stayed at the willow bank a few times now and it just gets worse every time I stay. The rooms are looking shabby and poor, the new menu in the restaraunt is trying to be something spectacular and it doesn't need to be . Trying to make itself something it isn't. It took them 2 times to find a room that was right for two men sharing and on the third attempt even that room was not good. But due to work commitments I would have to stay there again .

stayed here a couple of weeks ago for a concert, as we got back to the hotel i realised i had left my phone in the taxi, i spoke to the night manager michael who was really helpful ringing my phone and even speaking to the taxi switchboard and arranged for the driver to drop it of at the hotel and for me to reburst the taxi driver which i was happy to do and the concert was great as was breakfast the following morning

    « Weekend away »

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights and whilst the drinks were on the expensive side that was the only thing we could fault it for. The room was clean and comfortable. Staff were all friendly and helpful and the breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty. The hotel was only 20 minutes from the Trafford centre were we spent the day shopping. There were plenty of buses passing all of which j believe went into central Manchester. There were bars, restaurants and a few shops in the area around the hotel, all in all a good base.

    2
« One night was plenty »

We stayed here as it was close to my son's house and served it's purpose for one night only. The whole place needs updating and refurbishing, decorating and deep cleaning as it was quite shabby inside. The outside does not reflect the inside and I would choose to stay elsewhere in future. The staff were pleasant and there's plenty of car parking and the windows in the room opened but not much else to recommend it.

« BEST WESTERN HALLMARK HOTEL MANCHESTER, WILLOWBANK »

The Best Western Hallmark Willowbank Hotel has completed its refurbishment of the Bedrooms, Dining Room and Bar since our last visit. This Hotel has a lot of character and the refurbishment that has been carried out is to a high standard. The staff are polite and courteous, well presented and highly professional. My Husband & I were delighted to see the work that has been carried out since our last visit. We would highly recommend this Hotel to anyone visiting the area. We will quite happily return to this venue.

« One of the best 3 star rated hotels I've stayed in! »

I feel this hotel is ridiculously underrated star-wise (3*) when compared to some of the dumps I've stayed in recently. We booked 2 rooms for a family group of six and all our rooms can only be rated as clean and above average. These rooms are plush and ornate (large gilt mirrors and velvet drapes) and the beds are very comfortable, clean and the linen crisp. The bathrooms were clean with excellent shower pressure and tons of clean fluffy towels. Our room never had air conditioning which is a major fault with many UK establishments and the room did get a bit clammy and warm during the night. (Thus I drop it a star). The bar area, reception and restaurant were all well presented and the staff were very pleasant and obliging. Our reason for booking was our need to be close to the International airport and early hire car drop off. Location etc. all worked very well. I would not hesitate in recommending this hotel for a stay either business or tourist as it ticks all the boxes for the reasonable prices that they're charging. The menu in the restaurant is great and suited the family group from teens to seniors that were our lot and reasonably priced also.

    « Badly needing renovation »

The hotel has a new reception and the bar area is nice, the rooms are dates, mine had dampness, an uncomfy bed and a tattered old couch. The doors bang, which limits sleep. The towels were rather worn as well. The front of hotel is on busy main road which is noisy. Try elsewhere.

« Good Hotel, Good Location »

I have stayed in this hotel a few times and always book through Best Western. Good location for south Manchester - Didsbury, Wilmslow and Alderley Edge. Also only 4 miles from Manchester City Centre. Hotel good but now charge £5 for parking. Breakfast is very good and the rooms are clean and tidey. Would recommend.

« Best value hotel in Manchester for a very busy night »

We booked this hotel well in advance for the Wednesday night for the Stone Roses gig. All other hotels in Manchester tripled their prices but we stayed here and had a fantastic relaxing night. We were in the room 76 that was by chance the biggest room in the hotel and one of the luxury rooms. Can't fault the place and would definitely recommend. Stone Roses were fantastic too

    « Very Pleasant Stay »

My wife and I stayed at the BW Hallmark Willow Bank Hotel over 9th and 10th June 2016. The hotel was very clean and Parice on Reception was extremely polite and helpful providing points on routes into town and info on local hostelries! The room was clean and comfortable even if it was a bit on the 'snug' side! I would recommend the hotel and would stay there again as it was only 20 minutes on the bus into town

    « Business 1 night »

Spent one night here, good locality with several bars 2 mins nearby and a nice little cosy place in the hotel itself. Rooms are basic but certainly comfortable, no iron in the room and waited 20 mins on one being brought to the room was a bit of a pain but that aside all round good little place

« Overnite stay with airport parking »

Pleasantly surprised by hotel. Excellent parking facilities and taxi service to and from airport was faultless and easy to arrange. Had early flight so didn't sample breakfast but ate in restaurant evening of arrival and food was excellent with very friendly helpful staff all across the board. Price for evening stay and parking extremely reasonable and room clean just what required. No complaints

« One night stop over »

Our second night in Manchester was situated well and truly in the student quarter, not that we realised this until we got there. An old and new building that looks very attractive from the outside. Inside the main part was lovely, however the rooms were a little jaded, cracked tiles on bathroom floor, a patchy ceiling and worn units. Everything was clean and tidy and every member of staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

Not sure of what we were actually getting when booked but was pleasantly surprised, helpful and friendly staff nice bar, lovely restaurant and car parking available. Was close to the city with bus services or a cheap taxi ride away. A couple of bars in the area and shops to supply immediate needs. Breakfast was yummy with a good variety. Rooms were nice with clean bathroom big towels a complimentary coffee and tea. Would definitely stay there again

    « Value for money »

We booked this hotel as we were attending the Coldplay concert at the Etihad stadium. the were quite small but clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only real down side is that they closed the bar mid afternoon (Sunday). The hotel is in a good location being 10 mins from Piccadilly station and a short taxi ride to the Etihad. (£16). There are plenty of places to eat nearby and there is off road secure parking.

    « Value for money »

Booked this hotel last minute to attend soccer aid at old Trafford. Good location, just 10 mins from Picadilly station, £8 in an uber! Me and my girlfriend travelled up by train from Essex and arrived around 15:45 and checked in. Made our own way to our room, on arrival the door was wide open with towels and cleaning products in the door way. A maid advised us the room was not ready yet. We went back to reception and I explained that I was advised check in was from 2pm and my room was not ready. It was a very hot day and after a long train journey a shower was much needed, I needed a room! I advised the lady at reception who appeared to be a manager. She looked on her computer for another room, explained to me that they are very busy and they are short staffed. No apology! Eventually got another room, was clean but small and very very hot!! In the rooms information back it advised to call reception if you required a fan. I called reception and was advised that they would see what they can do. I never got a call back. Disappointed.

    « Very Disappointing! »

Booked an overnight stay at the hotel as my partner and I were in Manchester for a concert at the Ethiad Stadium that night. We booked this particular hotel as many were already booked out (Coldplay/ Soccer Aid both taking place that weekend). We paid £134 for room only through booking.com website. I agree with a previous review that the hotel is much further from Manchester City Centre than stated. We discovered that it is quite far out, although it is situated on a busy street with access to regular bus services. Our room was not ready when we arrived, but we were told that we could pay £5 for 24 hour parking which we thought was reasonable. Having stayed at many Best Western hotels, we were expecting a comfortable stay. We overheard another couple checking in for £100 on a bed and breakfast basis. When we questioned the lady on reception as to whether or not we had breakfast included, we were told that their room was 'not of the same standard' as ours (classic double) and was 'quite honestly not very nice' which we couldnt believe!! We left and returned some time later and checked into our room, which we found to be very disappointing. Very small and stuffy room with worn and dated furniture and decor. This indeed was the case with the part of the hotel building that we were staying in. The bathroom and bed itself were clean but the room certainly needed updating- very worn and tired looking! The reception and bar area of the hotel have been modernised but the remainder of the hotel needs a refurb in my opinion. We were out a lot so did not let it bother us, but had a poor sleep as there was a lot of noise early morning and we could hear the other room occupants. All in all,

    4
« not as near to Manchester city as stated on the website »

Room small but ok for 2 nights and clean, no lifts which makes getting your luggage from the car park to the room hard work. We had a meal included in our break which was very good and even thought we didn't eat until 8.30 and the only people in the dining room we were not rushed. The town center was further away than stated but we either got the bus from outside the hotel which took 20 minutes or a taxi...

    3
    « Ok - could be better »

Stayed at the hotel for one night on a Saturday evening in May. We only payed £63 for the room but most reviews we had read were positive so we thought why not. First of all - location. I would say the hotel is more like 20 minutes drive from the city centre than 10, but granted that it could of been Saturday morning traffic. The hotel is located off a busy road with shops, pubs and a McDonalds right next door (ideal for breakfast - or the Spoons up the road where we went was fabulous and much cheaper than the hotel!). When we first arrived at the hotel we could hear a lot of noise from outside and so were dreading the noise overnight, but actually it was quiet enough to sleep with the window open and we didn't hear any noise from inside the hotel either! The room is pretty average but small - not much room on either side of the bed or in the bathroom. The bathroom looked like it had been updated recently but the shower head was only suitable if you were under a certain height - it only came up to my shoulders! Cue crouching down in the shower! However the room came with a hairdryer, towels and shower gel and soap etc, and was very clean. Overall I would say the hotel just needs a bit of a facelift. It smelt faintly of stale beer and cigarettes in the hallways and it was quite dark too. The hotel does not have lifts so I would say be careful if you are planning to book with a disabled guest. However, if you just need a place to rest your head for a night or two then I would recommend this hotel.

« Very Nice Overnight Stay »

We enjoyed our stay at Best Western Hallmark Manchester Willowbank. The only problems we had were that the toilet handle broke the morning of our departure, the water pressure was quite low for the shower and the internet signal in our room was non existant. However, we would stay here again and may be booking again for November.

« Lovely One Night Stay »

Booked the hotel pretty last minute. We were going to a concert and although the check in said 2.30pm we rang to check if we could get in earlier. We we're told they would try and do their best. We arrived at 11.45 and were delighted the room was ready. When I checked the booking my partner made he'd booked a family room (though we're a couple) by mistake, that looked like we'd get 3 single beds. Getting to the room was a bit like going through a maze and ours was the last room. We entered the room to find a very fresh looking bathroom to the right with fluffy white towels. We walked in to what looked like a small living room with a black leather sofa that had been made into a double bed, there was a TV, desk, chest and tea/coffee making facilities. From this room was a rather spacious bedroom with double bed, dressing table, TV and wardrobe. The decoration to the room was rather quirky and lots of attention had been paid to the details. We had a very comfortable nights sleep and the curtains were very thick so we weren't woken by the sunlight in the morning. The hotel itself is a few miles from the town centre, we were able to park our car at the hotel for a cost of £5 and catch a bus from outside the hotel which cost £1. Overall we had a lovely stay, the room was very clean, the staff with very helpful and it was great value for money.

    « No lifts!!!! »

Having four suitcases for our holiday and our over night stuff to get there and find no lifts but 5 flights of stairs a bit of s nightmare! Car was kept secure, was given a suite which was brilliant but then the taxi transfers arranged were with cars that couldn't fit all the cases and passengers in properly forcing luggage on to the passengers (children too)

We have stayed here on quite a few occasions when flying from.manchester or visiting friends and shopping to be honest we carnt comment on the food at this hotel has we always eat at the pub on the corner but the staff on reception are very helpfull quick check in rooms nice and clean basic needs updating other than that its a great hotel and it is nice and cosy in the cold dark winter months especially sitting next to the open fire in the bar area

« Stayed here for one night on business - very small double bedroom and no choice of wine just 'white' - really!?! »

Some obvious refurbishment apparent but a really strangely laid out hotel. The double room I stayed in was one of the smallest I have been in for a long time and the decor was tired. On a positive the meal in the restaurant was really nice but when I asked for a wine list I was told there was no red as they'd had a hen party in at the weekend ( I stayed on the Wednesday! ) and they only did one white wine - just the house white!! You also have to pay £5 for parking!

    4
    « Nice place »

Came for a hen party weekend. Staff were friendly and rooms were clean and comfortable. Couple issues was that the toilet in our room wouldn't flush properly so we had to struggle for a while to get it to finally flush, then the handles on the Windows seemed loose so made it difficult to shut them

Booked this hotel for a reunion of people who met in Germany in the 70s. Staff were extrememely helpful in setting this up and once there the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and had a comfortable bed. The room provided for the reunion was a great size for the group, arranged nicely and a very good buffett provided. It would be useful if there was a lift to get to reception and floors on higher levels.

« Let down by outside noise »

Good- Very strong and speedy (>55MB) WiFi. Breakfast Coffee pot had a very precise, non drip spout. Very clean room. Bad- Bathroom plumbing; toilet took may attempts to fully flush. I had a room on the side that overlooks the Royal Mail delivery office. I was disturbed throughout the night by loud music and partying from what I guess was nearby bar/club, this didn't cease until 4.00am. Maybe a one off, maybe just a Saturday night thing, but be warned.

« Fab hotel but no lift »

Stayed here on business, the hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff are friendly and accommodating. The food is delicious. The rooms are cosy with very comfortable beds and black out curtains. Only problem is there are no lifts and a lot of stairs for two people, one of which was pregnant and one who has a chronic illness. Other than there being no lift this was a beautiful place to stay for one night.

    « Best Western Willowbank »

I stayed at Best Western Willowbank for 3 weeks on a business trip, therefore I had enough time to see and feel all the bad and the worse things that this hotel has to offer. Most of the people commenting below and above probably stayed for just a few days, but when you're there for 3 weeks, it actually becomes painful. Except for the location, which is relatively close to the city center by bus and the fact that there are many places where you can eat in the area and, only to a certain degree, the way the staff acted, I don't think there is much good I can think about. The first two weeks or so, the staff was ok, especially the waiters in the restaurant and the bartenders, but the experience gradually changed for the worse the next days, as I interacted with other members of the staff, some of which were quite rude and you could plainly see that they were not trained properly for their jobs. I am mostly disappointed in the receptionists, as they are clearly not trained for this job. I had to interact with them on several occasions, as you can read in the following lines. The reception and restaurant/bar areas look quite good, there is a feeling of warmth and coziness in those areas, you can enjoy a drink and watch a match on the TV at the bar. But when you get on the hallways, everything changes. You can clearly see that the hallways haven't been refurbished in much more than a couple of decades, the wall tapestry and the ceiling is of a yellowish old colour and the carpet is dusty and with stains. You can probably ignore all that, but you just can't possibly ignore the extremely awful smell in some of the areas. Luckily the smell was bearable outside my room. The room was extremely small, there was no place to put my troller luggage, somehow I managed to stick it into the closet after emptying it. Except for the bathroom which is fine, the furniture in the room is very dated, the closet doors are difficult to handle. There is a water heater on the table, but it's full of rust on the inside. The throw on the bed was full of yellow stains and dusty, as were the decorative pillows. I think these haven't been cleaned in years. I had to take them off the bed every day, because although I mentioned several times that I don't want them put on the bed, they kept putting them back. The floor carpet was dusty and filled with crumbles of food, paper etc. I had to ask the receptionists three days in a row to arrange for it to be vacuumed. The pillow sheets, bedcover and blanket sheet had not been changed two weeks in my stay, I had to ask twice for them to be replaced, before that happened. The receptionist kept saying that this is done every 2-3 days, this was definitely not the case. They did not turn on the heating unless I called two or three times. This happened every day. The temperatures outside dropped to 2 degrees during the night, so heating was a necessity, especially since the window did not close properly. Wi-Fi was inexistent the first couple of days, then it was made available, but the signal was just too weak for my mobile phone to connect and on the laptop it was failing frequently. Wi-Fi worked fine at the reception area, but my room was just opposite to that, on the other side of the building. The cold breakfast was acceptable the first days, but there isn't enough variety. You can't eat the same things for 3 weeks. The cooked breakfast is very oily and they put in it too much salt. It is also clear to me that they reuse some of the food the next day. If you are staying there for a couple of days, it would possibly seem almost acceptable, but it's difficult to bear a longer stay. I would never recommend this hotel.

    « It was OK »

Somewhat surprised to be asked to pay up front, and that parking away from the front of the hotel was £5 per night. The double bedrooms are ridiculously small, with about 500cm between the bedside and the wall. Otherwise good with bags of power outlets at a usable height. Breakfast buffet pretty good apart from the fried eggs (overdone). Staff really friendly and helpful even when on Sunday morning the restaurant was manic. Reasonable value. Free WiFi available throughout.

« Friendly staff good service »

I have stayed at the Willowbank many times before and always receive the same high level of service. The restaurant food is excellent. The only downside is traffic noise if staying in the rooms at the front of the hotel

Room was OK even though a little tired in places furniture wise! Intermittent problem with the toilet but you had to hold the button in for longer when flushing!!!! Food was very tasty. I had steak and it was cooked perfectly. Good friendly service in both the restaurant and bar.

Thank you to Damon, Claire and all the staff at the Willowbank. I cannot thank you enough for making our recent stay so enjoyable. As a sports group we stay in many hotels around the country and worldwide and the Staff at the Willowbank always make us feel really welcome. Affordable accommodation with full English breakfast included even serving us earlier so we can attend our competition on time. They yet again organised a evening buffet with a wide variety and plenty of food to accommodate everyone's choice. The Chef even came out a number of times to check everything was alright and the waitresses were pleasant and nothing was too much for them. Thanks again we will definitely be back next time we have a competition. In Manchester.

    « Dissapointed »

I am afraid that this has probably been the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. As soon as we arrived the reception already told us that ever time we needed to go into our room they would have to come with us due to the previous group taking the the only key. The room itself was good value for money and breakfast was lovely. We booked this hotel as it also stated we would be able to have wi-fi in our room, this wasn't the case. The reception said that it wasn't working in any rooms only in the bar, this was an inconvenience as my partner had business calls to make and reply to e-mails in a quite place. When I booked the hotel I also enquired about a late checkout as my partner was running the Marathon the day after. They told me this should be no problem but just to mention to the reception when we arrived. The reception said they could only give us the room till 1:30pm as they had other quests booked. On the morning we were leaving I mentioned to the receptionist that we had taken our bags in the event that we could not make it back for 1:30pm but we hopefully would as my partner wanted to get a quick shower after his race. When we got back to the hotel in the afternoon which was 1:19 exactly I asked if someone would open the room so that my partner could shower (this would have taken him no more than 5 minutes) and the same receptionist said 'No we have cleaned the room'. I then replied you told us we could have the room till 1:30pm therefore why have you cleaned it? She then started being extremely rude and abrupt with me and my partner. I myself work as a receptionist and know full well this is not the way to speak to a customer! I was extremely shocked as she continued to tell us no for 5 mintues. We asked to speak to the manager and she then told us long as we could leave the room for 1:30pm it was fine. At this point the time was 1:28pm, this therefore was impossible due to the fact they argued for nearly 10 minutes! We the went to ask if there were any available rooms to use the shower for 5 minutes and she said no. The young Italian receptionist then started taking to my partner in Italian saying that he was absurd? I am afraid she was so unprofessional that it upset me and so we will never return to a best western hotel or recommend to any family or friend. It was a big shame as the room and food were perfect.

    « Over-priced, poor quality, pleasant staff »

We booked this a number of months in advance to see some some friends who are students. Good location if you want to visit students but not much else to be positive about. Positives - Pleasant staff Negatives - Wi-fI does not work in rooms furthest away from reception. Asst Manager came out and confirmed this. We were offered a room move but we had already unpacked - Mould in shower/bath - Hot water in shower was at best warm, not hot - Breakfasts were tepid warm at best - No problem for us but be prepared for stairs to reception and lounge/restaurant and not sure there are any lifts or if there are they are not signposted or mentioned by staff - We had already paid for £5 day parking but you can park out the front for free if you can get on there c20 car spaces - Rooms are the size of cupboards, very small - Radiator stopped working after 1st day of 2 day stay!!!! The photos on their website and travel sites show the hotel in a better light than it really is. We won't be staying here again on future visits to Manchester

« Tired, dark and dingy »

This hotel has, I suspect, seen better days. Although staff were helpful and friendly when issues were raised the quality of the hotel as a whole is not goof. The décor of rooms is dark and dingy. The water pressure to the shower and bath is very poor. When I arrived (after check-in time) I was sent to my room only to discover it had not be made up after the previous resident. The receptionist moved me but to be honest although the second room was slightly larger it was still poorly lit and uninviting. I tried one meal in the restaurant. Again, helpful pleasant member of staff but the food was not good. Overcooked and poorly presented. There was a long wait at checkout with only one member of staff at reception. Again, a very pleasant and helpful member of staff. Come on management - give your staff a chance and provide better facilities for them to work with.

Reasonably priced but disappointing room. Small double room. Heating not working. No air conditioning available. Basic free view TV. Tea and coffee provided. Corridor outside room has suffered from a room leak so there is damp smell ( thankfully not in my room)

    « Bed-making optional ?? »

Stayed here with nine colleagues this week as part of a business trip. Rooms were small, but were tidy and clean with modern bedding&curtains, so what more do you need as a base. Bathroom was clean and equipped with decent white towels and usual toiletries. Shower was efficient too. Soon saw a sign on the dressing table showing an offer that if you opted out of housekeeping (for a maximum of 3days in a row on minimum 4night stay) then you got two vouchers for a free drink in the hotel bar!! Apparently it's an environmental thing?so I promptly advised the whole group to do our bit for the planet!! Breakfast was good with a selection of 'full English' buffet, continental and cereals. Free wifi with good coverage. Overall a good clean place to stay with lots of local establishments to visit. I'd definitely return but would take a hammer and nails to fix the creaky floorboards.

    « 40th Birthday stay »

40th birthday visit to Manchester for myself and girlfriend. Ideal location short bus ride to the city but close enough to be able to visit south Manchester and surrounding areas like didsbury and chorlton. Hotel staff were pleasant and welcoming from our arrival . Room was clean and very well presented. We have previously visited the willowbank and the improvements made to the public areas are impressive. Would highly recommend anyone wishing to sample Manchester but prefer not to be slap bang in the middle of the city.

« Ignore the bad reviews »

Stayed here with my 8 year old as we went to see dynamo at the Manchester arena. It's a great location just a taxi or bus ride in the the city, takes around 10-15mins. Our room 19 was great very big and such a comfortable bed, staff our fab especially the duty manager Emily who went out of her way to sort our hot water problem out, the receptionists are great and very helpful and the chef was lovely and made the best burgers. If your looking for a hotel where the staff treat u well, do the best breakfast and beds are comfortable then u won't be disappointed.

    « Bit tired »

The hotel is better than most Manchester hotels, and reasonably priced, and the rooms are comfortable enough for a short stay, but the decor and in particular the bathrooms are getting a bit tired. My TV worked, although I had to cancel various menu items about needing retuning. No-one has been to see the TVs since the latest freeview reorganisation. That said, it worked better than many hotels and was clearly visible from the bed. There is a lack of sockets near the bed for things like ipads, but there is a nice little radio system which is a pleasant addition, and a proper kettle which I always like. Breakfast has always been the best feature of the Willowbank, although it was slightly let down this time because there were not enough staff for the number of people in, often a problem when coach parties are there. But the food was first rate, if uncharacteristically cold this time. I like the range of tinned fruits available as well as the cooked food. The hotel is in the process of rebranding from Best Western to Hallmark, I have no idea why. The bar has a very poor range of beers, and no real ales, though spirit drinkers seem well catered for. Alas the bar and restaurant menus are no longer different, limiting choice a fair bit. There is nothing wrong with the menu but it is unremarkable.

    « Terrible »

Hotel very tired in much need of repair, We were with a group of 49 people, soccer team from Galway, asylum seekers were staying at the hotel over 20 loitering in the small reception/bar area whom had our vulnerability cased since arrival. Put it like this, we had to phone the Police as an attempt to pick pocket one of the children had been the last of our unpleasant events with these folks, every evening there was something, between knocking on the kids doors, trying to intimidate you as they smoked on the doorstep on your way into the hotel. Staff were very pleasant I must say and made every effort to assist us when difficulty arose. Being honest I was petrified staying here, the soccer club had been going here for years and I'm sorry to say, that was most certainly their last. I also couldn't understand the meals! I thought it was a three course incl. 1st night -3 courses, 2nd night, 2 courses and the 3rd night 1 course. I was very dissapointed. This hotel would not cut it in Ireland!

    « Handy location »

We stayed overnight here and it was handy for the city centre , only a ten minute taxi ride. There were some unusual features in the hotel but rooms were average and a bit tired in need of decoration. Food however was fantastic both the huge choice at breakfast which is help yourself hot and cold buffet and the dinner menu. Staff were personable and helpful so overall worth a stay

    « I wont go there again »

Tatty Decor. Poor fabric of buildings, panels comming away from skirtings and floors that groan. Many foreign nationals talking loudly on phones with poor personal hygene, the lounge area smelt of BO. slow wifi, almost unusable.

    « Weekend break »

Hotel looks very tired. Upon arrival realised there were no lifts to the upper floors...quite a trek with the luggage! We booked for dinner in the restaurant which was just ok foodwise 6/10, tho the staff were very pleasant 8/10. We sat in the lounge for an after dinner drink which at first was relaxing, then suddenly we were surrounded by foreign speaking guys drinking from cans, speaking loudly over us and on their mobiles. We felt intimidated and their presence ruined our relaxing drink after the meal... we retreated to our room! When we checked in we requested a quiet room but we were disturbed well into the early hours by loud foreign speaking individuals! The Manager was very apologetic but the damage was done weekend ruined, sleep deprived! We have stayed at Best Western Hotels on numerous occasions but will now be seeking an alternative hotel chain.

« Old rooms seem best »

I have stayed here a couple of times and the rooms at the front of the hotel nearest the road are by far the better rooms. Unlucky last time we stayed as two junior football teams spent the evening running around the hotel.

« It was quite good »

Small rooms, but nice and calm, the breakfast is good, the rooms are clean, the staff is cooperative, the only problem that it had stairs, so you need the staff to help you with heavy luggage, it is located at the main street. All buses that goes to the city center passed by, so you can go to the city center easily

« Marvelous hospitality. Book now »

I have just had one of the best evenings of my life here. I've just turned 50 and I celebrated my 50th birthday here. This was one of the most hospitable places I've ever visited. Emily the events manager jotted down my wants and don't wants. I'm fussy, the food had to be just right, down to the mixed vegan, veggie and meat menu. I wanted my special beer, the music had to be perfect. She wrote everything down and it just happened. We descended and took over the hotel. They rocked. They catered for everyone. The food was magnificent. The chef deserves a medal. Emily was still there at 3 when I went to bed Thank-you bar staff Thank-you chef The biggest thanks goes to Emily. Think on Best Western at your next promotions board The pleasure and privilege was all yours

« Good location for visiting university, nice hotel for the price »

I have stayed at this hotel many times but not got around to writing a review. I find the location of this hotel excellent for my business trips, you can leave the car at the hotel and get public transport into Manchester city centre without any problem. There is limited car parking at the front of the hotel but if you are willing to pay, I think its £5.00 a day, you can park in the gated area under the hotel bedrooms. The rooms are fine, some a little dated and some doubles are fairly small, but I didn't mind because just using the hotel as a base. Some of the bathrooms appear to be renovated, i.e. the bedroom looks a little ?tired? but there appears to be new fittings in some of the bathrooms. I have not eaten in the restaurant yet, there are a few places to eat within a ten minute walk, there's a Wetherspoons two minutes' walk away. I don't mean this to sound like a bad review, as I say I have stayed here many times, and I will stay here again, probably the next time I'm in Manchester. Finally if your offspring is going to Manchester University, and they are living in the area, then this is a very good base to stay if visiting them.

    « Try somewhere else »

The room (and "hot water") were cold. It was cramped, of bizarre architecture, badly decorated (a piece of the wall covering was jutting out) and almost inaccessible from the streets with bags--requiring several flights of stairs (up and down) to access. The hairdryer was broken. The television had been affixed to a wall at right angles to the bed. There was no refrigerator and the choice of tea and coffee was limited. There were no cups available in the lobby for the coffee provided there. It was impossible to access the parking lot without walking in the rain and the lot itself had a single gate used by both incoming and outgoing vehicles. Fix these and I might return. I am not a disgruntled customer?I had a delightful stay at both the Best Western properties in Heathrow and at Bowness-on-Windermere.

    3
« Okay for the price »

The hotel was comfortable and okay for one night. However, the decor was very outdated and the room was a little dusty. Our TV did not work either. I would say that it was a good base for one night out in Manchester. I would probably pay a bit more for somewhere a bit more modern.

« Lives up to its promises »

We had a very nice room - rather dated, but clean tidy and good quality - and stayed with our two dogs while visiting family in the city and surrounds. The room was not ready for our 14:00 check in but was quickly sorted by the friendly staff. Breakfast was very good with a great hot buffet and continental breakfast choices. The hotel is good value for money, as long as you are happy not to stay in the city centre. Fallowfield itself is full of cheap takeaways serving the student population but Didsbury is not too far and worth a visit if you like bistros and wine bars! Parking is free on the forecourt but limited spaces, otherwise there is secure parking for £5 a night. We will probably stay here again soon.

« good hotel but limited parking »

I stayed at this hotel in Manchester and the only gripe was that there is limited parking at the front. There appeared to be a bigger car park adjacent but you had to pay £5 per night. I arrived late at night and they kindly had a sandwich made up by the kitchen waiting for me. I then discovered that there is a mcdonalds a stones throw away which was handy for a cheap ice cream and drink. The room was small but clean and the noise levels were fine. i got a late checkout and the process was easy with no fuss. Breakfast was very nice with a wide range of options for those who dont always want to eat a cooked breakfast.

    « City Suburbs Hotel »

I good choice for those who don't necessarily need to be in the very centre of Manchester. The customers range from those stopping over for conferences and businesses to those on holiday. The hotel is good for those that are passing through. It is not clear from the photos what sort of area the hotel is situated in. The area around the hotel has plenty of eating and drinking places. The area is lively in an evening. Quite a lot of university students and other young people frequent the area in an evening.

« Manchester International Gospel Festival »

Stayed here and wasn't expecting anything that special but was pleasantly surprised and the quirkiness of this cute hotel. Parking was great. Staff were great. Some nice features and for the cost and rating of this hotel I feel it was more than worth it. Would definitely stay and recommend this hotel for future visits to Manchester. If I had to critique it slightly I would say that I wasn't a fan of some of the things on the breakfast and a slight delay to the in room food but all in all I can cope with that.

« Basic but good value »

We stayed here recently easy to find small rooms except the larger suite which was good sized to be fair the staff member who booked the room for us did mention that fact, good in room facilities but no fridge friendly staff helpful parking available there may be a charge for overnight plenty of good restaurants close by and Curry Mile short drive away easy approach from motorway and airport close by as well

« Ok hotel for one night »

The hotel is lovely in the restaurant and reception area but as soon as you step through to the bedroom corridor you take a step back in time with the red decor. The room was like an oven waking up throughout the night as it was so warm. Couldn't open the window as we were right next to the McDonald's which was busy till the early hours. We were in room 70 which was a twin room in need of a good clean. The tiles in the bathroom have lifted and pinched your feet and there was damp on the wall. Breakfast was as expected for the price and overall and ok stay for the price and for one night.

    « Perfectly Reasonable »

I can't believe some of these reviews. If you want a luxury hotel then book 5* and pay those prices. I booked 2 rooms here on a £64 (each) Groupon deal. While we experienced some of the same frustrations as others I felt it was very good value for money. However, having said this, £130 per room would have seemed expensive for what we got. All-in-all it served our purpose well and I have no complaints. Location: Good. 15-20 minute stroll to curry mile. Frequent buses into the city centre. Arrival: friendly but (as is common with Groupon) no record of us. Luckily, they made the booking and honoured the groupons. Staff: all we encountered were friendly and helpful. Building: very interesting circular arrangement on 2 floors based around the original building. The dodgy construction of the new section is evident in that the floors are very creaky throughout. Rooms: first room smelt of cigarette smoke but they moved us with no problem. This room was fine but it was cold (radiator was weak at best, in spite of adjustment). We went to the desk and they provided a fan-heater which worked very efficiently. No problem with towels but the towel rail did not work. The room was a reasonable size, clean and reasonably appointed. The bathroom had clearly been recently renovated and was very nice. The bed was not a genuine double but twins joined, for obvious reasons, but this made it less comfortable. TV (channels were set to strange numbers), tea& coffee making facilities, hairdryer, soap, shampoo etc (on a small square of slate), storage space, all fine. WiFi not totally reliable 100% of the time but mostly OK. Decor: a bit groovy in places but perfectly fine in rooms. I quite liked the pseudo-library effect. Facilities: perfectly reasonable. Parking no problem (included in our deal but £5 charge clearly shown on the gate) - access code required but reception didn't give it to us!. Bar was fine, Didn't try the restaurant except for breakfast but this was good.

    « Poor Western »

We booked this hotel last minute for a night out in Manchester, for what we paid we obviously didn't expect a 'Hilton Hotel' ! On arrival we checked in and was told parking would be £5 per night from what my partner said he couldn't recall seeing anything about being charged £5 for parking when he booked online ! We were told by the receptionist that there would be free WIFI through out the hotel (we were buzzing at the thought of not having to rinse our own data as everybody loves free WIFI) so we got up to our room and put our stuff down, my partner went to sign into the WIFI to play some music whilst we took a shower, no WIFI could be found in our room as we were that far away from reception ! He put the shower on and it was like being in Antarctica it was that cold.. 10 minutes passed and it was still the same we went to grab a towel each only to find that we had been provided with one towel between the 2 of us, luckily i brought my dressing gown so I put that on! My partner called down to reception and we were told a towel would be up immediately and that you have to allow 30 minutes for the water to get hot, however 45 minutes later had passed we had showered and were ready to go out when a member of staff appeared at the door with a towel (little too late) ! I would not recommend to stay here, even if you need somewhere last minute like us.

    « Better than expected »

Booked this hotel without reading any reviews first, after reading previous reviews we were apprehensive. However, we were pleasantly surprised as we had a spacious room with a superking size bed (we booked the executive deluxe). The room was clean, warm and comfortable - 3 star quality level - just what the tin says. Our only problem was a window that wouldn't close, our room looked straight onto a flat roof so posed a problem. Upon pointing this out we were quickly offered an alternative room. Ideally positioned hotel for visiting our daughter who lives in nearby students halls so will definately be back.

    « Nice hotel »

Stayed here for one night working in nearby Didsbury which is about 2 miles away. Hotel is very nice although rooms as previously mentioned are a little cramped but comfortable anyway. Check in quick and efficient, plenty of parking to rear of hotel through security gate, be aware there is no lift to first floor reception so heavy bags could be awkward although assistance provided if required.Evening meal and breakfast in restaurant are good. Recommended!

    « Very impressive hotel »

Stayed here during a business trip. Relatively easy accessible hotel, although, surrounding areas are very busy with traffic, at any hour. Hotel staff were very friendly and professional. The hotel is quite deceiving from the outset as it is very nice inside. The rooms are smallish, but ideal. Beds are very comfortable, room facilities are ideal, especially warm and free wifi is decent. Bar and food are good. Breakfast was a pleasure! Walking distance to many very good shops, pubs and restaurants. Will defo stay here again if working or travelling in this area.

« Handy for student land! »

This hotel is really handy if you're visiting student kids in Fallowfield (and don't want to or can't stay with them). It's easy to get to and is only a couple of miles from the M56, which pretty much runs into central Manchester. The hotel was very clean and tidy and the staff were all friendly and helpful. The breakfast options were great and I really enjoyed my cooked breakfast treat for three mornings! The only gripe I have is that the shower in the room I had was too hot and I couldn't adjust it. I'd definitely stay here again.

Had read some negative reviews of the hotel but we couldn't fault it.

    « One night stay »

Stayed with some friends as part of a deal as we were dining nearby. Arrived late afternoon and checkin was efficient, friendly and speedy. The chocolate brownies on the desk were a lovely welcome touch. Finding reception was ok once we realised it was upstairs, and never did get to understand the car-parking. We parked at the front, but it seemed that for £5 per day you could park behind some gates. Easy enough to find the room although the floorboards in the corridor were very creaky! My room itself was cosy. Not much room around the bed or in the bathroom, but as I was only staying for one night this was no issue. Usual tea/coffee facilities and the bathroom had everything required. Initially the room felt a little chilly, but the radiator was efficient and soon took the chill off. Did not dine in the hotel so cannot comment on evening meals. Overnight the room was quiet and comfortable which allowed for a good night's sleep. Breakfast was a buffet affair and the staff were very attentive without being intrusive which is as it should be. No issues at check-out.

« New Year event, nice time had by all. »

Stayed here for the New Years Party night, great food, however a little let down by the quality of the entertainment, had been better in previous years. Rooms were as you would expect, comfy and well equipped.

Stayed here for three nights and enjoyed the hotel. The staff were great and went out of their way to help. The room was great and very comfortable. The only downside of the visit i found were the breakfast which was disappointing.I thought that the sausage and bacon were not so great as well as the eggs i found some to be under cooked while others were over cooked and cold. The staff however made up for all of this.

    « Excellent »

Excellent hotel in a excellent place. The staff are friendly, the double room was lovely, with a lovely London touch. The power shower was ace. The rooms were spotless. The hotel as loads of bus stops outside which take you to the Arndale Centre (142/143). Tons of fast food take aways and pubs a few yards away. The car park is free. We never had breakfast or food so cant review.

    « A Nice Surprise »

Set in the University area of Manchester, I was not sure what to expect at this hotel but was pleasantly surprised. Great service, smashing food in reasonable size portions (not too large!), very friendly staff. The rooms are well appointed with reasonably sized bathrooms. Be warned however that to access the hotel you need to climb up some stairs, although help is available if required.

Excellent service would gladly recommend to friends and business colleagues, for business or pleasure. Staff were helpful and friendly .Especially of note were the reception team and bar staff, who got us into our room when Ithought I had lost the key (was in my back pocket)

    « Good comfy hotel »

Stayed for 1 night on business comfy big room and bathroom was an older style room but clean and very spacious. Beautiful big bed. Good TV. Tea making facilities. Good bar and restaurant that area is the modern part of hotel. Wouldn't recommend for anyone with walking difficulties didn't see any lifts. Good reception very helpful.

« Great base for seeing the sights »

Lovely old hotel with alot of character, airport within easy reach and the city housing a wonderful cathedral, museums, art gallery, restaurants, cafes and bars and great shopping centres.great place to visit for young and old, something for everyone.

« Great over night stay »

The hotel is easy to find and not to far from the city centre or arena! Firstly on arrival we managed to park up quite easily in one of the free available parking spaces, as you enter the hotel the reception is situated upstairs in the newly renovated part of the hotel which is beautifully decorated! Reception staff were polite and very helpful especially sami. Our room was great lovely big comfy bed, good size tv, bath and shower. Just right for a short stay! That evening we were attending Manchester arena reception staff were more than happy to arrange us a taxi while we had a drink in their enigma bar (which is extremely inviting!) The morning we went down to the restaurant for breakfast which is all you can eat with a great selection of hot and cold drinks not to mention breakfast items such as bacon, eggs, sausages, fruit, cereals and much more! Overall a great nights stay would definitely recommend!

    « One to miss »

Stayed here for when up in Manchester on work, thankfully for one night. Website gave better experience to be expected than actually had. The Hotel is aged & needs a total overhaul, but that cost lots of Money & time, so can sympathize to a degree, that they may already know this. But saying that, my Room 108, may as well have had the Rooms occupants in mine from either side, as I could hear all clearly in what was being said & movement. Add that to the noisiest plumbing works i have experienced for a while, when they showered, bathed, suddenly my one night of wanted sleep & relaxing was shattered. Opted for the Room Service as was tired & just wanted a snack meal, not the full on Menu choices available in Restaurant. Asked for a Club Sandwich with Fries, that's what I got & it was fine, but would say over priced for what I got, also the £4.50 tray charge, when in most Hotels stayed at & more premium, its normally £2.00. Do take the secure Parking @ £5.00 per night, as not the safest of areas ever walked around & can imagine from the amount of Police Sirens & Police Helicopter hovering above, the locals were having fun. I did not bother with breakfast & went to Mc Donalds, even though I had prepaid for it, as they wanted £10 for my met colleague to have some. For £7.88 we had to Lattes & Double Sausage & Egg Mc Muffins, that hit the spot & was more peaceful. Can imagine the Hotel gets many poor reviews for its overall standard, but unless they fix this & soon, get used to the poor feedback. Another area that annoyed was the poor attitude & customer service from the Receptionist on arrival & on leaving, who just seemed bothered in wanting to answer questions & in general helping. Not sure of her name, but she should ask herself if such front of House work is for her ?? You get what you pay for & keep that in mind, if thinking of here & do head the comments on Tripadvisor, before booking. I wish I had & not just looked at the Website. Good luck with the talked about planned renovation works, as much needed.

« Over priced, poor service, »

Over priced, poor service, good location but staff didn't really care, had a issue with heating, room was very cold maintenance didn't help at all. No ability for a wake up call, then charge for a late check out. I thought this was disgraceful

    « Fabulous »

I booked this as a birthday weekend for my boyfriend as I thought he needed a nice relaxing break from his busy job. It was relaxing from start to finish. What a great hotel. Lovely clean room. Great staff, service and the breakfast was delicious. Close to the centre and other local bars are within walking distance. Would definately recommend.

    « Tired decor »

The hotel could do with complete refurb, worsted Best Western we have ever stayed in. The carpets all grubby ,especially in our room, which was the smallest we have ever stayed in,and that includes ships cabins The breakfast was good and restaurants staff nice. The TV remote didn't work and reception never answered phone.

« Good hotel, excellent breakfast »

Have stayed here 3 times and always found it very satisfactory. The rooms are reasonable, last one was a little smaller than the others but OK all the same. Very clean and tidy. Comfortable beds. Corridors are a little tired and of their day but the communal areas are more stylish and comfortable. The breakfast is very good, hot and plentiful. My compliments to the chef and to the waiting staff for keeping the breakfast room so clean and tidy. Would certainly return again. Frequent Bus route into Manchester, some from only a pound each way.

« Wonderful and very welcoming hotel and staff »

Me and my other half just wanted a night away in the city, we had been recommended this by a friend who uses this hotel on business trips, top recommendation. Very tasty food in a lovely bar area, breakfast was just out of this world and well presented, and being gluten free the staff were very helpful with my diet requests. The member of staff that made our stay was Emily Nunn (Deputy General Manager) always smiling, very helpful Emily is a great asset to the hotel.

    « Comfortable stay »

The hotel is in good decor for what I was expecting and although the corridors. stairs and carpets could be better, the room was really well decorated and comfortable to stay- which is the most important bit for me. The breakfast was much nicer than expected and satisfying. The staff are really helpful. Will definitely stay there again.

« Overpriced and nothing special »

Having paid extra for an executive room we were expecting something a bit nicer than a bog standard double room; the room we received was quite small and didn't reflect the price we paid. As a result we went back to the reception to check we had actually been given the correct room, as it didn't look like the photos of the executive rooms we had seen on the hotel website. The lady at reception informed us that our room was in fact an executive and that there was nothing she could do. We were pretty disappointed with our experience at the hotel - we felt that the room was average at best and felt pretty ripped off by the price we paid.

    « willow bank review »

All we needed was a bed for the night, so in that respect it did just the job. The bed was very comfortable. Sadly the rest of the hotel was not great. On arrival I was charged for the room, although I had already paid and had payment confirmed both in writing and over the phone. Ironically the price I was being charged was a lot less than the price I had already paid, which is a huge cheek! So the room, after walking quite some way along very uneven and noisy floors we got to our room. Noise from parking area disturbed our room, especially the lady who crashed her car and was trying to rip the bumper off, delightful. the shower, I cannot fully review, the water was so scalding hot and dangerous that I spent the time in the shower at the end of the bath terrified of being burnt. After a lick and a prayer for safety's sake I was getting ready to go out, turned the radio on and experienced the loudest, most horrendous noise ever. No definitive sound, just loud, distorted noise and a cd player that was constantly trying to open but did not know it was broken. Sadness personified! Woken up at 5am by the car bumper show and in the end decided to just leave. Premier inn and travel lodge do a bed for the night exceptionally well, they don't over sell it in any way. This bed for the night, was not sold as it should have been and was certainly not reflecting is reality in its price.

    « The worst experience »

If you enjoy cold and dry breakfast this is the place for you! The fried eggs are nice and rubbery almost like plastic and nicely chilled to a suitably cold level at 9AM in the morning, black pudding is both cold and dry a bit like cardboard with no flavour to match. The delights of the beans suitably drained of any type of beanness whilst baking under the heater and adding to the glory are the sausages which are not only saturated in oil but with the odd bit of crunchy bone inside for extra goodness. The coffee tasted like the best budget value instant money can buy and the mushrooms must have been a new form of fungi, nothing quite like it. There must have been a shortage of plates as the over diligent staff constantly approached the table the moment a plate had emptied. The hotel has the word ?best' in the title, ?best' in what sense? The rooms were clearly designed for Guantanamo bay prisioners due to their box like size. Ask to be put overlooking the Mc Donalds for the extra noise traffic and car door opening sounds for extra ambience.

« Overprice for what it is »

The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff are attentive, but the hotel is very dated and overpriced for what it is. I booked the deluxe room and it was very small. The lobby, bar and restaurant are very nice, but behind the corridors and rooms all need a good face lift.

« Good hotel top breakfast »

Stayed here for 1 night with friends. Room was clean and tidy with bath/shower and all mod cons hair dryer tea coffee making facilities etc. Large bar and lounge downstairs with on site restaurant. Ate breakfast in here which was very well cooked with plenty of choice to fit all tastes. Plenty of secure parking on site which does cost £5. Hotel is very clean and tidy and staff very friendly and accomadating. Location is perfect for visiting Manchester and plenty to do within 30 mins of the local area. I will definitely revisit in the future.

« Nothing outstanding, but good budget stay »

Close to the famous 'curry mile' and city centre, dated building. Rooms overall facilities at 3 star grade. However courteous front desk and restaurant staff. They allowed me to park my car in the premises till evening after checking out at 0800

    « Decent Business Hotel »

The decor was a standard one and also it took a long walk to get to the room. The breakfast spread was also average. What impressed me though was the service. It was prompt and the waitresses were really helpful. If you are looking for a budget hotel with no frills, then would be a good choice.

    « Not bad hotel!! »

I stayed here, as have exams at the university, so we'll located for that, not so good if you wanted Manchester centre. Food, both breakfast and dinner good, although the dinner menu quite basic. Not sure whether it's due to company paying but my room is over £40 more than a colleague, although I do have a large room. The hotel is very warm, would return if needed to stay in this area.

    4
« Great service and nice clean room »

A noisy toilet was the only thing I can say was bad about the experience. Nice clean room and the wifi was very good. The breakfast was nice, but the eggs seemed to be sitting for ages under the hot plate. The staff are great always very friendly.

    « Christmas works party »

I booked the willow bank for our Christmas party,Emily couldn't do enough for us she was very nice. We were staying over and arrived at the hotel around 5pm to get ready,it was warm and very welcoming. We got shown to our room,it was huge. we had dressing gowns and the room was very clean. Downstairs guests were arriving and we were greeted by staff with unlimited Buck fizz and canapés. VERY NICE We went through to our Christmas room,it was beautiful and set out with Christmas decorations, music playing we loved it. Food was excellent, warm and lots of choice. Flowing wine on table. Music was good and props(glasses and blow up guitars) were a good one, everyone enjoyed it. What a fantastic night, everybody can't wait for next year Bonus had breakfast in the morning, just what I needed after all the alcohol. LOL Lots of choice plenty of hot coffee. I would recommend this hotel.

    « Didn't quite get there »

I was meant to stay here with my partner to do a bit of Xmas shopping and Xmas markets. However the evening before my mum got rushed into hospital - I rang hours after this at 7am in the morning to let them know my circumstances. For a very rude lady to then tell me that there would be a cancellation charge. A cancellation charge that I was not made aware of as all I got in my email from the hotel was my confirmation number. She reluctantly let me off the charge - however sometimes it doesn't hurt to have a bit of consideration. First impressions of costumer service were not good for me.

    « Paper walls »

On entering the Willowbank hotel you have to go up a flight of stairs to get to reception and they are the first of many stairs.the hotel is very old and has been only fixed in places with what appears to be fancy wall paper around the bar and reception.we had a triple room which was tiny it had 3 single beds and all 3 beds nearly touched.with all 3 of us in the room at the same time it was ridiculous.we had no hot water for showers.there was also a party with really loud music that was deafeningly loud and we were on the top floor. The photos are very misleading because they only show reception and bar.

    1
    « Going downhill. Fast! »

It has become totally potluck as to the standard of room you get here, but what is consistent is the lack of effort that used to be there but has now gone. This time we were presented with a room that clearly needed a proper clean (numerous hairs in the bathroom as a for instance) a shower that wouldn't work other than on boiling point, a TV on the wall at a 90 degree angle, heavily worn carpets and a radiator that was hard to control. This hotel lets down the Best Western and (until they start to make an effort once more) one that I would suggest you give a miss.

    « Smallest bedroom EVER... »

Stayed here as I had been working in Manchester. He carpark is a funny thing in that they have so many free spaces (?) and then you have to pay (??)? The reception is upstairs leaving you thinking you've walked in to the wrong block. Checkin was fast and efficency. It was a hike (literally) to my room and I can honestly say it was one, if not The, smallest room I've ever stayed in....which was good, as the tv remote didn't work so I had less distance to move to change sound or station. Having said that, the room was quiet and the bed comfy. Evening bar meal was ok. The burger wasn't particularly nice and was red inside. Breakfast was ok. Not the best but certainly not the worst either. ?Propping open the fire doors was my main concern. Wifi reception in the room was very poor, but ok in the dining areas.

    « Avoid »

We stayed here for 2 nights in November. As many others have said, this placed is tired. Very, very tired. It also has more stairs than Machu Picchu, but without the grand vistas, and you have to carry your own suitcases.. Just vistas of badly painted public spaces and worn out stair carpets. The room we were given for 2 nights did not have a working shower. Its only temperature was Very hot. We complained in the morning, and they said they would fix it. In the evening we were told that maintenance had known for some time that the shower could not work. We were offered a different room for the second night. The second room had been available for our first night, so why were we given a room with no shower? It is not worth going on about the bad points - there were too many of them. On the good points, the reception staff were nice. The cooked breakfast was good, but they had very little fresh fruit when we were there. On the noise that others have complained about - we were lucky as both our rooms were quiet.

« Pleasant, could be better »

Stayed here this weekend for a re union me and a friend were attending in manchester. this hotel was located close to people we were seeing and had free car parking please i could claim a good deal on hotel.com. Firstly the staff were very pleasant and offered a complimentary late checkout from the room as we were a little short for time on the morning we were leaving. The reception area was very nice and quite modern, the bathroom was great and the shower was very good however the actual room was quite a disappointment. The beds were fairly comfortable although nothing special, the decor was quite dated and the room just felt like it needed a bit of a refresh to bring it up to speed with other hotels. The staff were great and the other facilities were good, if the rooms were improved it would make a huge difference.

    « Lovely staff »

I came to my friends 30th birthday party last week and was blown away by how well the two girls on the bar looked after us and wouldn't hesitate to go out of their way to make our evening as enjoyable as possible, very smiley and sociable. The food was good but could have been a better variety. Overall a really enjoyable evening, the decor was lovely too.

Very disappointing stay .only had one overnight stay and that was enough . There was a function on in hotel very noisy kid's running around. With no supervision could not sit and relax in bar area . Was kept awake till 1am with music from function . When contacted reception at 11 30 was informed they could do not hi g till 1am as they had hired room .so a total disrespect to other paying guests .reception on first floor not suitable if you can not climb stairs

    « Avoid »

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It was like staying in a very run down nursing home. Very out of date and tired decor. The room was small and dirty with visible dust. Not been hoovered with hair cups from the previous occupant on the floor. The bed was extremely uncomfortable. The meal was inedible. All our party left their food it was so bad. It took a long time to check in with no sense of urgency. The first attempt to check in i left the receptionist to it after 10 minutes and advised I would return later in the day for the key to my room. When I returned to reception later in the day I had to start the whole check in procedure again when I had already signed the paperwork and filed it all in earlier. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.

    3
« Great location got what you paid for »

We stayed at this hotel the nigh before we flew from Manchester we booked it because we met up with a friend for the evening who lives in Manchester. the hotels main reception and bar dinning areas are very modern looking my wife loved it, the room itself was basic but we did only pay 50 pounds for the night so we didn't expect much but it was more than adequate for what we wanted. the location was great wetherspoons was just down the road along with a lot of bars and restaurants.

    3
« slightly outside city centre »

specifically chosen for location and value. good public transport connections. disadvantage to reception on first floor with no lift. difficult if heavy cases as it is 2 flights of stairs. reasonable restaurant for level of hotel.

    « Another business trip »

Arrived late evening, friendly welcome, small but clean cosy room. wIfi and the temperature dial wouldn't work so hotel staff moved my room straight away which was good. The second room was very nice but late in the evening someone opened the door to the room as they had been given the key and allocated my room on check in, received an embarrassed apology the following morning. Breakfast was good but evening meal was A bit disappointing. The hotel is close to the university but a bit far from the centre to be convenient. Probably would not chose here again.

    3
« Rooms in needs of some attention »

Parts of the hotel have been updated - mainly the reception and common areas, however the rooms are in a real need for an update. The rooms are very tired and the bed I had could definitely do with replacing. The bathroom has been updated a little which was a pleasant surprise. We decided against eating in the hotel as they only had 1 chef and so the wait for food was well over an hour. The waiters and bat staff were recommending other diners to walk up the road to Wetherspoons. I was somewhat concerned about this as surely as a hotel you would want to recommend an eating establishment of a comparable standard - so to recommend Wetherspoons gave the impression the hotel food was of similar standard.

    « Good location »

Good location at around 4 miles from the center Pleasant staff on arrival and during the stay Room was very large, clean and very warm Room was located on the front and therefore expect some road noise during the night and early mornings Small car park to the front of the hotel which is free. There is a car park behind the hotel and electric gates which is £5 per night Food was good, well cooked on the evening and reasonable small selection to choose from but nothing special Self service breakfast with hot and cold food available and okay Bus stop right outside hotel and if you get the magic bus it is only £1 single fare into town and takes around 25 minutes

    5
    « Corrie Tour Stay »

Excellent! Room was spotless and the staff really helpful. After just one night the room was cleaned, bed's made and fresh towels even though we were checking out the next day. Breakfast?......Utterly yummy and beautifully cooked with plenty of choice - traditional full English, Continental or Healthy. I recommend the full English, with as much hot toast as you want! The hotel is on main bus routes with 5 or 6 buses running into the city every few minutes and it was so easy to get to the Corrie Tour or to tram stops to Media City. Really good value for money....Oh! and make sure you take a picture of someone on the giant chair!

« Never had an experience like this before! »

The good points: generally clean and staff as helpful as they can be. Poor state of repair with damaged panelling on walls and windows not locking. We'd booked two rooms with a request for the rooms to be beside each other but on check-in we were informed the rooms were separated by another room plus a fire door. Apparently we had originally been allocated rooms on separate floors. The bookings officer denied all knowledge of a request for adjacent rooms even though the request was written on my booking confirmation. It was the bizarre restaurant experience that had our party wondering what sort of place we'd selected. Warned at the outset that half the starters were not available (bear in mind that the restaurant was nearly empty). Requested wine list: ordered Sauvignon Blanc: "sorry we don't have any left", OK ordered Chardonnay: "sorry, we don't have any of that either.... we only have Pinot Grigio". Not my taste, so I went for champagne: "we have none", Cava: you've guessed. Only Prosecco was available. In the end I settled on rum and coke to have with my meal. The meal sounded good: squash and courgettes with a paella containing cashew nuts. It sounded good. What turned up was a bowl of paella with cashew nuts, topped with two slices of anaemic-looking and wet squash and two thick pieces of equally anaemic and wet-looking courgette. There was no baking-colour to the veg, it looked and felt as though it had been steamed or microwaved. To cap it all, the paella was very spicy (no mention of that on the menu). It was so spicy I could not finish it. I complained about the whole dining experience to the waitress and to the receptionist the next day. Nothing was done and I received no feedback. We were so disappointed, the next night we ate at Nando's just down the road. We had a pleasant time with at least some selection of white wine. The food tasted better and it was cheaper by some £20 - even with a bottle of wine. Oh, and the first morning we were woken at 5.30 by a delivery just below our window (which we could not shut because it was broken).

Stayed one night B/B on a Friday and could not fault a thing.Hotel easy to find and secure parking inside the compound for £5 a night. Easy check in by friendly staff. Room was on the small side but ok for 1 night stay with all you would require.Bathroom was very good with a bath and excellent shower. Bed was good quality and comfy.Room was very clean. Breakfast was also first class with plenty to eat to suit all needs.Staff again were very pleasant. Will recommend the Willowbank to all who need a hotel just a couple miles from city centre with plenty of buses.

    « Disappointing »

Nice looking reception area however pretty damn awful beyond that. Extremely dated decor, squeaky flooring and pretty dirty. The room was 'ready' at 2pm for check in however when I went to the room I found the bed made however previously enjoyed towels all over the bathroom, and the toilet still had someone elses turd in it. Which probably wasn't really the previous occupiers fault, the flush was appalling. I came back later and had a look, the towel was replaced, however there was only 1 towel between the 2 of us. The room itself was very cramped and actually quite dirty with fluff, hair and other deposits on the floor by the bed. The bathroom wasn't clean, deposits around the fittings, and generally tired. It was not sufficiently cleaned generally. It also suffered from quite a bit of noise. You can hear clearly the conversations next door, people outside in the corridor etc. Parking at the front is included, however the gates to the ample parking at the rear suggest £5 per night extra to park your car. We paid nearly £70 for the night. It was probably worth about half that, however we would never stay here again due to the fact it's so dated and dirty.

« Great value and convenient location! »

I stayed here while in Manchester to catch a match at Old Trafford. It's not the closest hotel to the ground, but at this price, and as a former student I know Manchester pretty well - in particular the bus routes. You need to get one of the busses from Piccadilly Gardens towards Rusholme or Didsbury and get off past Rusholme. Although there isn't much to do in the area of the hotel itself, a few busses either side and you are in Rusholme with all it's takeaways and restaurants, or the Fallowfield student village with all it's student life. The hotel is pretty basic, but nonetheless very clean and more than adequate despite the low price. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom had everything you would need. Not too much else to say really. There was no breakfast with my stay

    « Disgraceful! Not even worth a 1 Rating »

Where do I start? This is going to be lengthy. Stayed here Friday 23rd with my wife and paid £109 for what was called an executive room. Never has been. Checked in at 2pm. Was told we couldn't get a drink until 5pm. Walked up to room through the wedged open fire door! Arrived at room door entrance blocked by dirty laundry and so had to handle that to move it. ( all doors on landing had piles of laundry outside) We went out for the evening and on return told no drinks after 11. Asked for some tea and milk for room and was told no tea available and given two cartons of milk at the same time as being told they had no more. No tables available for breakfast. After been told they would set one. Tea and coffee didn't arrive. Reminded them TWICE excuse was member of staff phoned in sick To top it all and this may seem unbelievable. On arrival we noticed a large number of non English males in groups throughout the lounge and then later tucking into what can only be described as a banquet. I enquires what the occasion was because the atmosphere was quite intimidating. I was told by a member of staff that they were " refugees" staying there until FEBRUARY with 3 meals a day!! Google Best Western immigrants/refugees and all will become clear. All in all this is no better than a sub standard bed and breakfast.

    « Overnight stay »

Stayed for the night as I was picking up my new motorcycle from Hunts Motorcycle, which was a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Very welcoming receptionist who provided me with alk the information I needed for my stay. Single room is clean tidy and comfortable bed. The shower / toilet room slightly on the small side for persons who maybe of the larger size. Normal tea and coffee tray with a biscuit. Restaurant attached to the hotel was reasonably priced. Full English breakfast was great. You can not beat starting the day with a good breakfast to start your day. For those with an eye on using Manchester airport you can leave your car at the hotel ether for 8 or 15 days Would recommend this as a good place to stay.

What a hidden gem we found for our wedding venue. Absolutely outstanding so glad we choose the willow bank to host our special day. Emily was fantastic, helping us every step of the way, she is a credit to the hotel & worth her weight in gold!! Well done to the chefs, food was superb, everyone commented how delicious it was & how the wedding was the best they had attended..Resident DJ was fab had everyone up dancing & the staff were great. « Weekend stay over »

Stayed over to watch the Man City v Bournemouth game. The room itself was clean, tidy and had a very clean if not new ensuite. The lighting could be improved it seemed a little dark yet there were extra lamps provided. Even though it's situated three and a half miles from the town centre it's on the direct bus route with fares of £1 a bargain. A nice friendly bar and breakfast wast immense. Pre booking we got a good price and overall a good place to stay.

« Cramped room smelled of smoke »

Only saving grace is I did not pay for the room as it was via work. Room was cramped with less than a foot either side of the bed. The room smelled of smoke and one of the towels was grey and looked like it hadn't been washed. Breakfast was not great. Sorry but wouldn't recommend

    « £209.00 a Night!! »

Unfortunately we ended up booking last minute on Saturday 10th October and were charged £209.00 for a double room and no breakfast!! As every other hotel I called was booked because of a rugby match between Leeds & Wigan being played in Manchester. So I was informed that I had to pay a premium for this. We arrived late in the afternoon and after paying for our room and an additional £5.00 for disabled parking finally found our room after a maze of corridors and stairs. When we arrived at our room it was still being cleaned and so we had to uncomfortable hang around for our room to become ready. Much to my surprise it was warm and the bathroom clean and tidy, but the bedding was tired and the television never worked. Yes, we should have complained at the time, but as we arrived late in the afternoon and had to attend a meeting soon after than, followed by a late dinner meeting, then bed and left the hotel at 7am, so our actual time in the hotel was less than 8 hours. £209.00 for 8 hours now sounds very expensive!!!

    « Wedding Guest »

Myself and my partner stayed for 2 nights at the Wilowbank hotel for a wedding which was at the hotel. We had a tidy, clean double room with tea and coffee facilities, a shower/bath, a spacious wardrobe, a large desk/dressing table, a full length mirror, a modern working TV, free (easy to access) wifi and many plug points accessible. We both slept really well in the bed which was comfortable and had good quality linen. Our only problems with the room were that the flush on the toilet was very temperamental and difficult to use, the lighting wasn't bright enough in the room and the room was quite small- not much room to move around. However, we agreed that the room offered good value for money considering what we'd paid. The breakfast times were very reasonable (8-11am on the Sunday) and we both thoroughly enjoyed the wide selection of good quality fresh breakfast options - cooked breakfast, fruit and yoghurt, continental, pastries, toast, cereals, juices, tea and coffee. I was a little disappointed however that some of the foods weren't replenished and so you were only able to have certain items (e.g.pastries) if you came down for breakfast early. The wedding reception was brilliant and the hotel provided a fantastic lunch of hot pot with bread and an extensive hot buffet in the evening including chicken skewers, ribs, sandwiches, chips, pork pies, sausage rolls, salad, pasta salad etc. Our only complaints was that the prices of the drinks at the bar seemed quite pricey. The communal areas of the hotel bar and lobby were tidy and wonderfully decorated and a very comfortable place to spend time. From the outside the hotel looks very inviting and we were pleased to have the option of secure car parking. Overall- a great stay at the Willowbank

    « Cramped rooms »

Stairs to reception is never a good sign. Staff very pleasant and ample and clean facilities but my room for my one night business stay was cramped. It had everything and more but not enough space in the room. If there had been 2 of us there'd have been a fight! Menu somewhat predictable but pricey extras. Property appears to be used as a staging post by the FCO for others more unfortunate than me.

« Graduation function room ideal, great stay too »

I recently attended a grad ball here in the main function room and many of us stayed over for the night. Food at the event was lovely, standard 3 course but really tasty and presented well. Staff were very helpful and seen to all of our needs. The stay overnight was clean, comfortable and quiet. Would recommend and stay again!

« Great Location Comfortable Hotel »

We recently stayed in the Willowbank Hotel whilst visiting family and were not disappointed by the standards and general decor/cleanliness of the hotel. Situated on one of the main thoroughfares in to the city, and with bus stops directly outside the hotel (20 mins to Oxford Street depending on traffic), this makes the location ideal for the city, and the hotel sufficiently far out to be in the quieter suburbs. We were given a room on the first floor of the older part of the hotel which was adequately equipped, and comfortable. Although the room faced the main road, the sound of the traffic did not disturb us through the heavy velour curtains. The bar is a comfortable place to relax even if the drinks and bar snacks are on pricey side.

    « Best Western Willowbank »

this is a budget hotel and in some respects it offers satisfactory value for money. Good location (we were dropping off our son to Uni nearby). outside the hotel looks inviting and its easy to park. However, our room was very noisy lots of outside noise (we were at the back of the hotel) and shower was not satisfactory. Extra pillows needed for the bed.
