« Wonderful hotel with good transport connection »

The room was a little bit small, but for one or two person it is perfect, especially if you go there for sleeping only. There are air-condition and laptop desk in the room. The bathroom is very clean and well-equipment. I really enjoyed the breakfast: scrambled egg, pancake, croissant and Nespresso? coffee. Good location with underground and tram station and a shopping center also is in the neighborhood.

    « A real robbery »

If you have any doubt about the fact that the hotel rating system is a joke, this one will take care of it. This hotel is supposed to have 4 stars (confirmed by the reception) ... a real scandal: rooms are ridiculously small, the breakfast is basic with no staff available (the receptionist did her best), the place is noisy, ... On top of it, the control system of my AC was not working. Oh, I forgot, the bill was definitely 5 stars: 270 euros! 3 stars hotel with 5 stars bill: the average is right!!! Now I get it.

« Good little hotel well placed for exploring Lyon »

This hotel is a stones throw, quite literally, from the railway and a few minutes walk from the Lyon Part-Dieu station, it is well placed for exploring Lyon being on bus, tram and metro routes into all the main visitor areas. Also well placed for the trams to the Airport and new OL stadium. Room a bit small but perfectly adequate and comfortable with a wonderful shower. Breakfast - French in style - had a good selection and set you up for the day ahead. Staff friendly and helpful (most speak English). We weren't kept awake by the trains, even with the window facing the track open all night, but others might be. If you are a train spotter, or were as a child, you will enjoy watching the trains go by! Will be happy to stay here again!

« It does as it says on the tin »

Small rooms but clean and functional. The smallest lift in the world for sure as its the size of a small wardrobe, not for the claustrophobic. Friendly professional staff and a small garage for your car at €15 per night. I'd advise you to book this as the streets are nose to tail parking so parking nearby is almost impossible. Excellent choices for breakfast and good value for money but no restaurant within the hotel for dinner. There's a great French restaurant within a 5min walk of the hotel.

« Functional hotel at the train station, small room »

The hotel is a good choice if you arrive very late or have an early departure from the train station (but would not choose it for another kind of stay). The rooms are modern, functional and have everything you need, but the room I had was really tiny ? you open the door and kind of fall on your bed, impossible to get in there with a huge suitcase. Although there must be some insulation you can still hear the trains, but the noise is not too bad. Service was very friendly.

« Noise from trains kept me awake all night »

I would not stay at the Best Western Richlieu again due to the problems with noise from the trains. They regularly pass by, noisily, all night and I got hardly any sleep due to the poor sound insulation. The room was modern, comfortable and clean but I couldn't enjoy it. The lift is very small. Not worth the €160 that I paid.

« Appalling - but staff try to save this sinking ship »

This really was a dreadful couple of days in this hotel. The lift was creaky and très petite. The room was tiny too. I arrived late so ordered some room service. Worst croque monsieur ever. I was surprised how noisy the rooms were. It sounded as if there was a train running right next door. Actually there was! This is right next to a major rail line. Check out my picture of the view from the bathroom - over looking the delightful scenery of France's transport engineers. Breakfast was a miserable affair. Foolishly, arriving late after another day working, I ordered room service which officially ranks as my 'WORST EVER ROOM SERVICE MEAL'. I complained to the front desk and asked what they thought of that dish and they laughed and said they have never eaten it. Kindly they refunded my money on that. The staff were great. Especially the team on the front desk. They are saints. I observed a stream of unhappy guests turn up and shout at them, and they were polite, understanding and helpful. Not even these poor souls can save this place. And it is not even cheap. They charged me a fortune.

    « Worst experience ever! »

Tiny room, very dirty - definitely not worth the price we paid. Bathroom was tiny, no shower and holes in the wall. Definitely not 3 stars either! Only good things is that it was close to the train station.

    « In the average »

Not a real three star hotel but very clean and reasonably calm taking into account the proximity (only a few meters) of the railways of Part Dieu train station (consider choosing your room carefully). Bit defective bathroom; not shower curtain, windows directly on the shower... Kind staff, quite near from city's business center with a perfect access to Lyon's transportation network.
