« Great location with luxurious bed! »

I have nothing but good things to say about the staff at this hotel. Everyone that we encountered was helpful and very nice. We arrived quite early (11am), after a full overnight flight and were exhausted. Originally, we were going to just leave our bags with the front desk staff, go for breakfast and get in some sightseeing, while we waiting for the 3pm afternoon check in time. However, when I asked if there were any rooms avaiable early, to my amazement, front desk said there was, and early check in only cost $10! We were sold!! The bed. Oh my god! The best bed we've ever slept on!! Ever. Breakfast was included in your stay and was better than we expected, my personal favourites offered were the yogurt with your choice of topping, (I choose white chocolate chips and granola!! Yum!) the bagels were good, and the donuts were a treat. The only reason I didn't rate this hotel 5/5 was that our room was on the top floor, in the corner, (I know, usually awesome, and the room was except...) because of this wifi didn't seem to connect. It wasn't even in and out, we literally could not connect to wifi on our phones or laptop while in the room. Granted, we never gave the hotel the chance to fix this, as wifi is readily available in the breakfast area, lobby etc. and also throughout the city. By the time our days were finished, it was shower, and that glorious bed. Location was excellent. Found our way using the subway system from JFK, and once at the hotel the subway is a short 3min walk away, then 2 stops into manhatten. When we left, the hotel front desk offered to call transportation for us back to JFK, and was at a flat rate of $45, and it was a VERY comfortable town car! Snazzy!! We will definitely be back!! Can't wait for our next adventure in NYC, and will stay here again.

    « Comfortable stay »

Stayed in this hotel with family. Front desk staff was very nice, courteous and well behaved. The location is great, near the Manhattan attractions and two blocks away from the F line of subway station . Room size was big. Breakfast served was nice. Had comfortable stay.

« Affordable Hotel Close to Manhattan »

Stayed here for two nights as it did not have the Manhattan hotel prices but close enough to Manhattan. The hotel is near the F train so we took the train to get there. Disembarked on 21st St ? Queensbridge station, walked for a block. Arrived late at night around 11pm and was really tired. Thankfully, check in was a breeze. Free water, tea and coffee at the lobby. Rooms were clean. Bed was comfortable which was a bonus as we were tired. Wifi was good. Our room was facing the Queens area so there was not much view. Breakfast was good. The neighbourhood did not look the cleanest and safest place. We walked to a Chinese take away nearby at night and felt a little bit unsafe. Government housing buildings near the train station and car repair and other industries nearby. Not the ideal place for a hotel but with the price, reasonable accommodation, proximity to Manhattan and close to public transportation, I might consider booking here again when I go back to New York.

« Great location, very good place to stay »

Very good place. Great location, close to the subway which takes you to JFK and La Guardia and all the attractions of Manhattan. Hotel well maintained, clean rooms, serviced daily, very good breakfast but could be cheese or ham.

    « Very Good - Recommended »

We selected this hotel based on the positive Tripadvisor reviews. The hotel is relatively easily reached on the Airport Train and then the MTA but is a little distanced from downtown NY. However for us, we are walkers, it was fine as within an hours walk was Central Park, Times Square etc. The hotel is clean and well appointed with large comfy rooms. We found the rooms on the road front noisy. Buffet breakfast was fantastic with fantastic wait staff willing to help out. In summary - I would return

« Great Choice For Visiting Manhattan »

We stayed for two nights over Veteran's Day Weekend and our family loved the Best Western Plaza. Our room had two queen beds to hold me, my sister and her kids. There was a sleeper sofa in our room that was more comfortable than you would expect. The room was large enough for us to move around and certainly bigger than what we would find in Manhattan......and at about $100 less per night. We flew into LaGuardia Airport and caught a cab to the hotel. The ride was metered at $21.00 and we added a $5.00 tip. Check in was at 3 p.m., but Kim at the front desk let us check in early at 1:45 p.m. One gripe that we had was the 2nd floor room assignment. It was the only room with 2 queen beds that was going to be available because the others were occupied for multiple nights, We had reserved a room with a Manhattan view, but the Floor 2 view was completely obstructed. Kim apologized for the inconvenience and credited me $15.00 for our stay. It was not a great outcome, but I appreciated Kim recognizing the problem and making some effort to resolve it. Just know that the "Manhattan View" is not guaranteed if that is a deal breaker for you. The room was very clean. The bathroom does not have a bathtub, only a stand up shower. The water pressure was good with plenty of hot water after long showers. The refrigerator came in very handy. There is no microwave in the room, but there is one in the breakfast area that can be used any time of day or night. Breakfast is a real highlight. It runs from 6:30 a.m. through 10:00 a.m. Keep in mind that most people in the hotel are tourists looking to get an early start into Manhattan. The breakfast area is roomy, but at 6:30 a.m. it gets instantly busy and seems to stay busy. The good news is that Yasmin and company are constantly replenishing items, cleaning counters and bussing tables. The free breakfast is far above average...eggs, sausage links, oatmeal, French toast, pastries, bagels, cereals, yogurt....great choices. There was 24 hour a day hot coffee and ice water in the lobby. Also in the lobby were two computers for guest use. You can print out your boarding passes or just surf the web. I don't sleep well and it was nice to have the news on in the lobby and a computer to use without waking up the rest of my family. There is a nasty little grocery store next door that is open from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. On the other side of the hotel are a couple of little restaurants, including a Subway for a low dollar lunch. The neighborhood was older, but not threatening in any way. The reason we booked this hotel is so that our night time walk from the subway station to the hotel would be short. It really was about a long block and 1/2......about a three or four minute walk. At this time of year, it gets dark around 4:30 p.m. Unless you cut your day very short, you will be walking back to the hotel in the dark. We felt very safe both times. Housekeeping did a great job and every staff member was friendly and helpful. The Queensbridge and 21st Street Subway Station featured the "F" train that would come though every few minutes. The 57th Street Station is just south of Central Park and is less than 15 minutes away from the hotel. The train continues to the Rockefeller Center and then to Times Square at 42nd Street and Bryant Park. The next stop after that is 34th Street-Herald Square,,,,,about 1/4 mile from the Empire State Building. You can get a free transfer to the 4 or 5 train from the Lexington and 59th Street stop by exiting to the street and walking 4 blocks to the Lexington and 63rd Street Station to get to Battery Park and the Statue of Liberty. Ground Zero and the Business District are within easy walking distance from Battery Park. Each subway ride is $2.75. You need a Metro Card to get free transfers. The Metro Cards cost a dollar and can easily be reloaded at the automated pay stations by the subway gates. Kim also set us up with a free 12:00 p.m. checkout time, which made life much easier. The regular check out time is 11:00 a.m. Kim told us that the hotel had an arrangement with a car service for a flat fare of $25.00 to LaGuardia Airport. She said she would call at our request and the car would be available in 5 to 7 minutes. For $25.00 plus tip, we rode in style in a black Town Car to the airport. We loved the convenience and the warmth of this hotel. The price was reasonable for the location and quality. The only thing we missed was a view of Manhattan. This will be our hotel next time we come back to New York. We would recommend the hotel to anyone wanting a convenient way to tour NYC without paying Manhattan prices.

« Good location, nice people »

My friends and I stayed recently during the NYC Marathon. It was an excellent location just steps away from the F line to go to the city. The breakfast was great, Yasmin and the others did a great job keeping everything tidy...and the food was really good. Our room was better than I was expecting. He front desk was awesome when I asked questions, and gave me all the subway and NYC maps for my stay. Our room was street side, but honestly it wasn't that noisy. I would recommend his hotel for someone that's looking for a cheaper alternative.

    « Great location »

Hotel is at a great location, only a block you can take the subway to Manhattan. Breakfast was good. I stay 3 night in this hotel last week, I was placed at 8 floor but still heard the noise from those transportation pass by. Room a bit small with stain on carpet. Washroom faucet was dripping, you have to press hard to shut the dripping. Request to cancel last day booking with 24 hours notice. As a result, yes but no refund. Hotel policy said: it has to notice 48 hours before. I would not stay in this hotel again. One and done!

    « Great hotel »

I want to thank the entire staff, Yasmin at breakfast, Sharmin, Salmon, Rob, Mina from housekeeping. They all keep the values of a great hotel. Keep up the great work. I'll see you soon. Great hotel without a doubt. Thank you for your service

    « Find another hotel »

    1) requested a room in a quiet location three times, was assigned perhaps the worst room in the hotel (2nd floor, street side). 2) 'Non-smoking' room stank to high hell of smoke. 3) It's a 'good news - bad news scenario ... yes, there was a coffee maker in the room; no, there was not a coffee pot. In summary, severely inadequate attention to detail and customer service. Theoretically, could be an adequate hotel. As it is ... 'one and done' meaning that people will stay here once, then never again. Avoid, unless no other options are available.

    « Great fun »

Ended up staying here since it was less expensive than any Manhattan option. Wound up being a better choice, since the room was huge and the hotel convenient to everything we were doing. About 2 blocks from the F train, and the staff was beyond friendly.

« In Queens, but close to central Manhattan..just off the Queensborough Bridge. »

We stayed 3 days in late Sept. 2016. This Hotel is clean, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Not unusual for large cities, the rooms are tight on space...but you don't go to NYC to stay in your room. 2 short blocks to the subway station, did the trip at night and there didn't seem to be any problems with the area. This is on a well traveled street, but traffic drops off as the businesses in the area closes. The breakfast is included and was very good, 2 selections of eggs and meats, the usual cereals, toaster, fruit etc. They called Uber for us as required, and provided us with information to the subway transfer spots for NYC tourism sights. 15 minute drive to Times Square (off peak rush hours). We will be staying there again.

« Do not let the location scare you. »

Nov. 3 - 7, 2016 four nights. Hotel was what I expected in a Best Western. This was Marathon weekend. the cost of the room was $100 - $200 less than Manhattan hotels. Our room had a king bed. Our room had been refurbished fairly recently. All new furniture, walls recovered, frig, free wyfi and all new bathroom. The morning buffet breakfast was very good, kept hot and fresh. The subway was just a block away (F) train. With transfers this took us everywhere we wanted to go. The location is in Queens area which is a Very Diversified area. We did not feel unsafe during our stay.

« Comfortable with wonderful view »

Big clean room with big bed and wonderful view of Manhattan. Free breakfast provided had unusual variety of food which was a nice surprise. Staff were professional but could be more helpful and courteous.

    « Great location/Great breakfast »

Found the accommodations xomfortable. Facility was clean. Great breakfast. Luckily asking wasn't an issue, we asked on the property. I would stay at this hotel again without question. Give it a try you will not be disappointed.

    « Unsafe neighborhood »

We booked this hotel for a weekend in NYC. The location is accessible - just 20 mins by train to Times Square. However, the walk from the train station to the hotel made us feel unsafe. The neighborhood is clearly run down. As part of our impetus for this trip was to go to a concert at night in Times Square, we decided we would not feel comfortable taking the train and then walking through that area to get back to the hotel late at night. Hotel was cheap and clean, no issue with the property itself. Just not the best if you plan to be coming & going late from the hotel.

« The hotel to stay in NYC »

The Best Western Plaza hotel is located in Long Island City; for those who don't know, LIC is on the Queens side of the 59th. Street bridge. ("Slow down, you're moving too fast" LOL). A short walk from two subway stops, and multiple bus stops, parking available, and reasonable rates. It gets better. The hotel rooms are comfortably large and spotless. Some of the best housekeeping I've experienced happens here. The free breakfast is one of the best and most complete I've seen, offering cereals, eggs, sides, yogurts, fresh fruits, beverages, and outstanding help (Yasmin, the hardest working person I've seen in a while). There are grocery stores and convenience stores within walking distance of the hotel. One of the features that struck me was the silence. Although the hotel was almost full, I could not hear anything in my room. The free Internet is one of the fastest in the market. The bathroom, and room, also the cleanest. All the members of the staff I ran across were professional and helpful, however, I have to bring attention to a young lady that I consider the greatest asset of this hotel, and the Best Western chain in general. Her name is Sharmin Shaili. She is the most helpful, professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating BW employee I've had the privilege to cross paths with. She best be kept happy in her position, although I feel she can handle higher positions, because she is priceless, and I would return to this location just because Sharmin is there. So, if you're looking for great value in a very expensive town, and enjoy all the perks mentioned above, make sure you book this hotel on your next visit to New York City.

    « Value for money »

We stayed in the Best Western Plaza Hotel in September for 4 nights . The location is perfect. 5 min walk to the tube (underground) station from where you can take the train to Manhattan/Rockfeller etc The staff was friendly, clean and comfortable rooms. good breakfast . Good price for accommodation compared to other New York hotels.

« Value for money close to Manhattan »

Stayed at this hotel for four nights with the family in a room with 2 double beds. We originally booked at the Sleep Inn, which is behind the Best Western, but upon check in were moved. No explanation was given but considering the staff at Best Western were very friendly and welcoming I didn't really care. The room was small but comfortable. Breakfast is included in the cost of the room and was more than sufficient. The hotel is a very short walk (no more 3 minutes) to the Queensbridge subway station where it is a short ride to Manhattan on the F line which you can take to Times Square, Rockafeller Centre etc without changing lines. I few other reviews made mention of the neighbourhood looking unfriendly but not once, day or night, did I feel unsafe or nervous walking through the area with my wife and children. The hotel is on a well lit main street and the area looks no different to parts of the East side of Manhattan. I also used the coin laundry around the corner and did not feel uncomfortable. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting New York that doesn't want to pay Manhattan prices. It is actually quicker to Central Park, Times Square and some of the other tourist attractions by train than if you were staying in a hotel in South Manhattan.

« Wonderful staff and good quality accommodation »

Very close to the subway which, coming from England, we wanted to try out with a trip from the airport. Also very close to Manhattan. An 'up and coming' area, so a little basic still around the hotel but felt safe enough and a short walk to some good restaurants and more upmarket streets (moving down the hill, so will reach the hotel soon!), and in the other direction to a little park with a lovely view of the bridge and Manhattan island. Good price for accommodation compared to other New York hotels. Clean and attractive rooms, very comfortable bed indeed. Good range of food for breakfast. EXTREMELY helpful lady at reception who even seemed amused at my husband's bad jokes (she will know us from that!). She gave us useful information about the area, happy to chat, and booked us a cab to the airport with advice about what to pay and to avoid rogue cabs. It made the trip very enjoyable.

« The Positive Reviews Are Right »

We picked this hotel for the price and location. Worked out great. Arriving at JFK we took the AirTran to Jamaica station then the E line subway making one switch at Forest Hills for the F train to Queensbridge 21st Street travel time 40 mins. The BW Plaza is one block and a bit from the subway.. Friendly place staff all nice from check in to breakfast which was excellent and included. Egg white patties recommended. Our room 807 had a lovely view of Midtown inc the Empire State. Beds comfortable, the shower takes some working out to operate. A tip - any room ending 05 or 07 above the 4th floor will have a great city view. The area is a little sketchy but not threatening.

« Good value close to Manhattan »

Good price, super close to the subway & walking distance to good restaurants & bars. There is also a nice grocery store right next door. The staff was very friendly & went out of their way to accomodate special requests.

    « I'll stay again and recommend »

The staff, the great breakfasts, clean rooms were all wonderful. I stayed a week. This is not 5 stars because there is a problem getting hot water in the shower in the mornings. Also, this is literally the first hotel ever, especially Great Western, that did not have a guest laundry or laundry service. There was a recommended laundry 2 plus blocks away down an iffy street. The price for laundry service was reasonable there. I enjoyed this hotel and the people!

« New York is always a good idea - a good hotel is the perfect start! »

I just came back from my 7 days New York trip. We stayed in the Best Western Plaza Hotel. A Hotel that definitely is worth it! The location is perfect. 5 min walk to the tube (underground) station and only 4 stations to the Rockefeller center, from where you can easily go to the Times Square and 5th Avenue. The staff was really friendly, our rooms were very clean and we got new towels every day. The beds are super comfortable. They serve a typical, but good american breakfast. They change it a little bit every morning, but basically they have toast, bagels, muffins, croissants, scrambled eggs, some sort of potatoes, something sweet like pancakes or french toast, sausages, porridge and toppings, and yoghurt. So you see, there is something for everyone. If you're looking for a good and affordable hotel choose the Best Western Plaza!

    « GOOD DEAL »

Room matchs with the price. paid $168 for a king size bed. not bad compare to other hotels in new york city. there was a fridge and coffee pot in the room. one of the best breakfasts I ever had in a hotel on a Saturday morning. 5 Mins to F train station. about 10 Mins of train ride to time square.

    « Visiting our Son »

Had previously had a bad experience at another hotel in area! This place was a real pleasant find for us! Stephanie at front desk was extra helpful and made sure we had a parking place after we got checked in!! She was very pleasant and though having to multi task very efficient!! Room was a little small but it is NYC!! Cost for room and parking reasonable! Breakfast is OK! Great location for subway F train! Very pleased overall!

« Good Hotel for Short Stay »

This hotel is clean and comfortable and very close to the subway! (Less than a 2 min walk). Free breakfast was delicious, and the service to replace empty trays was quick :) Friendly attendants. Willing to assist. Fast free wi-fi.

« Absolutely worth the money! »

After much research, my husband and I decided to book the Best Western Plaza at Long Island City for 3 nights. As anyone would know, NYC hotels are just simply overpriced. This hotel, however, ticked the boxes because it was reasonable and the reviews seemed good as well. Thankfully, we were proven right! From the get go, we had a great experience. Miss Stephanie at front desk was most helpful. Limited parking is available for a whopping US$25 a night, and we had driven down from Maine so we had a rented car with us. However, we only needed to keep the car for a couple of hours before returning it, so we asked Miss Stephanie about parking on the street. She offered us something better - complimentary parking on the premises since it was just for a couple of hours. What a relief! Thank you so much! We were given a room on the 2nd floor, but there were no issues with noise. The room was very, very clean. Super clean and it smelled fresh. The air conditioning worked really well (too well, sometimes we had to increase the temperature as it was getting so cold!). The bathroom was pristine too, no complaints there either. The shower is wonderful - excellent water pressure and plenty of hot water with no issues at all. The TV didn't have a huge range of channels but we were hardly in the room except at night, so it's not a big deal. The bed was really comfortable as well, and we were provided with 5 pillows, all not too soft (I hate soft pillows and it seems like hotels only provide that, but this was an exception!). We slept very comfortably all 3 nights. In-room wifi is fast and we didn't have a problem with it. Just that sometimes you may need to relogin. Now on to breakfast. The breakfast area is really small but we didn't have a problem getting a table on any of the mornings. The spread was especially impressive since this hotel is of 'lower' budget - delicious scrambled eggs, one of the best hash browns I've had (it's more like a rosti!), pancakes, waffles, cereal, good coffee, yogurt, omelettes,... the list goes on. The breakfast area is manned by Miss Yasmin, who was very friendly and made sure everyone was taken care of. Thanks, Miss Yasmin! On our last day, our flight was at night so we requested for a late check out. The listed check out time is 11am. They allowed us to extend it to 12pm for no fee, and we asked if we could extend it beyond that, to which they said we could till 3pm, at $10/hour. So we kept the room till 3pm for an additional US$30. Mr Robert and Mr Isa were really helpful there. Thanks! Lastly, the location of the hotel is good. It's a 2 minute walk from the 21st Street Queensbridge station, which has the F Train - 15 minutes to Manhattan! Only thing is that over the weekend, the F Train didn't have a return so we had to alight at a train station further away. Other than that - no complaints. Very convenient. :) Overall, we are really, really pleased with this hotel. It was well worth the money, so no regrets. Thanks again to Miss Stephanie, Mr Isa, Miss Yasmin and Mr Robert! :)

    « What a great stay! »

My parents and I stayed at this hotel for five nights. The staff (especially a funny man at the reception) is really kind and helpful. Rooms are cleaned everyday and comfortable with everything you need. But this hotel is excellent for its variety of breakfast every morning. Plus, the hotel is really close to the subway station which takes you to the heart of Manhattan. I will totally recommend best western:)

« Terrific hotel, Terrific location! »

My adult grand daughter & I drove into NYC for a little get away trip and I picked this hotel due to it's location to the subway and parking accommodations. It was perfect! The desk attendants were very nice and answered just about any questions we had at anytime we were there. A special mention goes to Stephanie - she was so gracious and pleasant and seemed to almost be there 16hrs a day! Parking was first come first serve, but there were plenty of spaces - just a warning don't drive your biggest van or suv! The garage and parking areas are very very tight! We parked under the building in a closed garage area out of the weather and easy access to the hotel. The 2 double beds room was very neat, clean and comfortable. We were on the 9th floor front room and there was some street noise, but that's NYC anywhere! The bathrooms were clean with plenty of towels and hot water. The free breakfast was even better than the usual Best Western breakfasts. There was a baked vegetable egg casserole, scrambled eggs, cheesy hash browns, waffles, pancakes and plenty of pastries, cereal etc. They have a chef that watches over everything so there was never an empty chafing dish or coffee canister. The subway is a very easy and safe 1 1/2 block walk. There are a few little restaurants nearby and pizza delivery. You won't be disappointed staying at this Best Western in Long Island City, NY!

    « Great deal »

Best free hotel breakfast I've had- each day scrambled eggs, omelet/breakfast casserole, sausage, pancakes or french toast, yogurt, croissants, bagels, cereal, fruit, all the usual beverages. Comfortable bed and pillows, small fridge in the room (no microwave, but there is one downstairs in the breakfast room). Very friendly helpful staff. The neighborhood is a bit run down looking, but the hotel is a block and a half from the subway so not too bad. Grocery store next door. The subway is the F line- 2 stops to the island of Manhattan, 5 stops to Times Square. This hotel is a good deal if you want to avoid the high prices of Manhattan.

« Well located home-base for visiting Manhattan »

Best Western Plaza is closer to major NYC attractions than other hotels with a lesser service and higher price which are located in Manhattan by using the F train 21st- Queensbridge station. It has a helpful staff, starting from the reception (e.g. Stephenie) and ending with the dining room service which keeps an open eve to make sure that everybody is happy with the breakfast (e.g. Yasmin who helps the new gusts with a smile and keeps everything clean and tidy). We stayed on a room with a city view on the 8th floor which added motivation to our trip. The room has a king-size bed a coffee maker, refrigerator and safe. In this era of many electronic devices, the room offers a lot of free 110V power points for the convenience of the guests. The shower in the bathroom has a fixed sprayer which may be not convenient for certain guests, but for us it was just fine. The breakfast is a typical American breakfast which can make you "full" easily for many hours of walking through the city (since it is "American" there are no vegetables but some fruits are available). In order to complete the guest nutrition one can use the Green Apple supermarket near the hotel (less than a minute walk), which offers all types of food including a "green market" with vegetables and fruits. The neighborhood of the hotel is semi-industrial, and it is recommended to sleep with the windows closed, since the noise might wake up a sensitive guest. When returning to one's homeland the hotel can reserve for you a transfer to JFK for $45 and the service is polite and efficient. All in all: a good value for money.

This place changed my whole view on the Best Western brand. I was happy with the service, accommodations and what a breakfast. It looks like they get in local pastries for breakfast. The room was cozy and no additional fees for parking.

We got counterpart for our money. It was good quality-price ratio comparing to other hotels in New York and price level in New York. Service was great. It was very clean, no bugs and housecleaning did good job. Room was spacious. We also had nice view to Manhattan from our room window. Sound-proofing could have been better in rooms.

Stayed with a colleague on the basis of cost and proximity to the city. I am disabled and we needed an accessible twin room which isn't frequently available. Initial thoughts, this was closer to JFK than the city and cheaper by taxi. The location of the hotel is interesting. It has the feeling of an industrial estate. If you drive down 21st Street there are many auto repair shops and large units some seemingly empty. There are housing projects close by so it isn't completely industrial. Inside , once a booking.com issue was overcome we were able to get into the right room. For the first time and not the last the staff dealt with the issue in a fuss free and expedient way. The room was navigable to me in my chair. There were two large beds and an accessible bathroom. Wifi is included. For me a shower seat would be best but here there was a step in shower (not roll in) and I head to shuffle from wheelchair via the shower base step to sit in the shower. Although others with rear facing rooms have a view of the metropolis, this was forward facing and offerered a mixture of industrial units demolition and the ongoing redevelopment of the area with new office blocks being developed. In the room the air conditioning was very effective and welcome. there was TV , there were coffee making facilities and an iron/board and safe. it was comfortable at night in the hotel. Breakfast, as we were advised was very busy. There are two rooms and as advised after 8am these get very busy. There is a choice of hot food, bakery and cereals. Hot and cold drinks. There was plenty to fill up on prior to a visit to the city. Access to all areas in the breakfast room isn't great in a wheelchair and you either need the patience of those around you or someone to gather it for you. The staff here were also great, very friendly and offering to gather for you. The hotel has a slightly used and dated feel but its not unpleasant. Its perfectly functional. Throughout I felt the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The hotel was a block up from 21st St Queensbridge subway. This is advertised as accessible. However at the of visit (and until October) there is no lift from street to ticket level. Thus my colleague had to lift my wheelchair whilst I stood on the escalator. Those with lower mobility would have to seek an alternative station or take a cab. If you stay here not so far away is the wonderful Court Square Diner. We didn't find too much else but then it's not too far from the city delights. As always bearing mind when booking your hotel, or doing anything out, that there can be tax to add which will increase the cost of your stay, meal, etc. Thanks to the staff at Best Western Plaza for your help making this a comfortable stay

« Perfect for our stay »

This hotel is located one block from the metro, into the city in 15 minutes. Half the price of staying in Manhattan. Full continental breakfast. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Will definitely stay here when we come again

    « Noisy! »

The neighbourhood is bad but the subway is just 2 stops from Manhattan and prices are considerably lower but still over $225. For that price you get a noisy room: outside generators create so much noise you will not sleep. Windows are thin, noise is practically the same with them open or closed.

« A good alternative for Manhattan hotels »

This hotel is a great alternative for the expensive Manhattan hotels. It's very close to the subway station (3-minute walk to F line), so it's easy to get to the downtown. The room is very neat and comfortable with a king-sized bed. The breakfast is free and just fine. The only downside is the internet quality is very bad.

« Best West was Best Choice »

This was a great hotel at a great location. Only a block from the F subway and easy to get to from LaGuardia. The front desk staff was very nice and even held my luggage because I arrived early in the morning and check in is not until 3 pm. I was able to drop off my bags and go sightseeing and not have to worry about them until later that night. The room was very clean and the free breakfast was not just muffins and juice. Lots of hot breakfast items to choose from. I would definitely stay here again if I have the opportunity to go back to New York City.Great location at a great price and a friendly staff made for a wonderful vacation.

« Convenient and practical for a short stay »

This is a perfectly fine hotel for a short stay, whether you are going in to Manhattan or visiting people in Queens (as I was). Not hard to park somewhere in the neighborhood - although you do need to look carefully for driveways, hydrants, and restricted parking, as you don't always notice the signs or the parking hours. As others have pointed out, the surrounding neighborhood seems a bit grungy, with weedy lots and some old warehouses....but lots of new pricey residential units are being built. It's an up-and-coming area and it never felt unsafe, even at night. The hotel itself is well run, the rooms are quiet and clean. I have just 2 small comlaints. 1. The hotel TV cable system could be better. Not many channels available, and hard to get from one channel to another. I did not see a "channel up/channel down" on the remote control! (Maybe I missed it??) 2. There was a card with instructions to operate the shower but all it said was "pull down on gold ring." Well, there was a gold ring around the shower temperature handle, but it did not pull down. After a lot of attempts and looking around for another gold ring, I realized that there was a much smaller gold ring on the UNDERSIDE of the end of the tub spout. You have to pull down on it to start the shower. The card had an unreadable graphic that did NOT look at all like the actual tub spout. These instructions definitely need to be made a lot clearer! I would definitely stay here again, especially if the price was good.

« A good alternative for the expensive downtown Manhattan hotels »

This hotel is a good alternative for the expensive Manhattan hotels, the hotel is close to a subway station which gets you to the heart of the city in less than 15 min. Rooms are ok, (tough the carpets are a bit old, they are due for replacement). Staff is super. The rate includes breakfast.. this is super.. wide variety of choises, great staff at the breakfast, friendly an helpfull. The breakfast restaurant is a bit to small, get early to the breakfast is a good tip we received at check in. Neigborhood is not the most appealing, But one should consider this hotel for a stay on a visit to New York

« Great place to stay in LIC »

Extremely helpful front desk staff who went out of their way to accomodate our needs, both in checking in and checking out. Plenty of food choices at breakfast and the breakfast staff were all outgoing and cheerful and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. A few blocks from the subway. A great place to stay and we will definitely return.

    « Good visit »

Neighborhood is not that fantastic (Queens), but the close proximity to the subway is perfect. Rooms are really tidy and nice. The service and cleaning were really great. The breakfast offer is fine althought it can (and usually does) get really crowded in the lobby area. Go to the breakfast early!

« Great stay, good price »

Despite a bumpy check-in after the fire alarms and sprinklers had gone off at 11.00 PM, I have to say the hotel is excellent, I had a lovely room overlooking Manhattan, nice sleep, clean room, decent breakfast and very nice hotel staff. The location is not very nice but it is very convenient for metro/subway or walking across Greensboro bridge which is an amazing experience. A good supermarket is next door and the ride to Manhattan is only 2 stops. I would recommend walking to Roosevelt Island and then taking the tramway! I will certainly return there, did I mention the price was very good for NYC in August? :)

    « Horrible customer service »

We were staying Here because we painted our apartment. We live in the neighborhood. They promised us an extra night. We needed to paint more rooms in our apartment. To make a long story short they gave our reservation to someone else and did not inform us till the next day. To make a long story short we had to find another hotel for the following day because of this. This was a huge inconvenience because the hotel was in walking distance from our home and that was why picked it in the first place. The morning crew was clueless that the night clerk promised us a reservation for the next day. They did not try to resolve it or transfer is to another best western. We will not be staying there again.

    2
    « Basic service »

The hotel is located in the Queens, not in a nice neighborhood. The price is appropriate. It is close to a subway station and this is the best thing there, because there is nothing nice to do in the area even not a place to go for eating. The room is nice enough. Breakfast is served in a tiny place and always you need to wait for a place to sit.

« Wonderful hotel, horrible neighborhood »

The hotel itself was great. Clean, comfortable, friendly staff, good wifi, breakfast, quiet. Unfortunately the hotel is two blocks down the street from New York's oldest Projects/Housing Development. We were not comfortable in the neighborhood and it's not a neighborhood one could explore for dinner either. There's a grocery store right next to the hotel and the workers there were friendly. We got food there the night we checked in. It's also located on the F train, which only runs every ten minutes. The train station was clean and modern. For our purposes, the F train wasn't very convenient, as it doesn't transfer at either Grand Central or Times Square. We figured it out though. Great hotel. Excellent value.

« Best Western Plaza Hotel »

This was my first stay in New York City and the Best Western Plaza Hotel was an convenient and affordable location. The hotel was very clean and the front desk clerks were extremely helpful. Also this hotel is located one block from the subway.

    « I hated the parking lot. »

The parking lot is incredibly tight and if you are not extremely and I do mean extremely careful you will have an car accident. I attempted to let the front desk know the one way ramp with no mirror to determine who is coming up or down as your drive up or down is dangerous. I was told my Tahoe is too big to drive down the ramp. (???????) So I guess I should have researched the hotel I planned to stay at based on where I can park my vehicle.

    « Reasonable for NY »

Chose this hotel because the room was a good size and it is not too far from Manhattan. The subway is about 300m away (F line) which takes you straight into Manhattan. Also included breakfast & wifi. This is a good hotel if you are on a budget & you don't mind the short travel into the city.

« A WEEKEND NIGHT IN THE CITY OF GOTHAM »

I stayed here on a Friday night recently subsequent to attending a family wedding in Long Island City the following day. The room was surprisingly quiet considering we had a low level (3rd floor) room that overlooks 21st Street. The breakfast the next day was good, with an assortment of cereals, along with juice, eggs, sausage, and coffee - decent standard fare. For those driving to the property, you should note that there is *very* limited parking in the rear of the Hotel, and it is first come, first served - you CANNOT reserve a parking spot with your reservation. I was fortunate to get the last spot of the night with a 10pm check-in time. I would spend the $25 for parking if the means permit you to - it is worth the investment. There was only one front desk check in agent upon my arrival but there were no real issues. I would choose this property again if staying in New York City. It is close to the 59th Street Bridge & Midtown Manhattan.

    « Great value »

Clean modern and convenient for exploring NY. Metro station close by and just few stops away from tourist spots. Couple of little shops close by if you need to get some snacks. During our US trip we stayed in 3 different hotels, and this one was the best, and we will book again.

« a few nights stay in New York »

This was a lovely hotel and very reasonable. There was one very annoying problem....their breakfast facilities. The 2 small rooms they use were totally inadequate for the volume of guests in the hotel and if there are more than 4 of you in a party you have no chance of sitting together, 4 was a struggle ! De-caff coffee was an issue too. Not out as a regular option as quote "American's love caffeine"!!! the lady called 'Yasmin' was very helpful and made me one each day but the day she didn't work my request was declined. How come you have de-caff in the rooms ??? Our room was comfortable, clean but a little small for us. Nights were a bit noisy too with the traffic outside. Close to subway so access to central New York and attractions was easyish ( to a foreigner like myself!)

« Queensbridge Old Timers Reunion »

This hotel is very convenient with the subway one block away. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was a little tight but clean and comfortable. You get a free breakfast with a wide choice, scramble eggs, pancakes and turkey sausage(I prefer pork) the hot food was always hot and plenty. One thing I enjoyed that hot coffee was always available. Parking was very limited and overpriced at $25.00 a day but still cheap if you had to park in the city. This will be my hotel of choice.

« Awesome front desk employees »

Best part of the hotel is possibly the worst part as well, that being the location. The hotel is only one block away from a subway station so it is INCREDIBLY easy to get to downtown conveniently and quickly. The problem with the location is that that part of town isn't very nice. You'll see great people around during the day, but when my wife and I came home late at night off the subway we got yelled at by some locals (possibly drunk or high?) and it was obviously very uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend straying too far from the hotel at night or coming back to any other subway station other than 21st St-Queensbridge. That being said, the front desk employees were incredibly helpful and friendly and made the whole stay worthwhile. They allowed us to park a little longer in our spot to help accommodate us and they were very welcoming to my wife and I who were new to the city. I wish I remembered their names so I could praise them properly! The rooms are very comfortable, and even though the breakfast is only so-so I would highly recommend this hotel because of the proximity to the subway and the amazing front desk service.

« Great place, Great location »

This hotel was the BEST Best Western hotel I have stayed at. Really nice room, bathroom, frig in room, great FREE breakfast. The whole hotel looks like it has been renovated and appears new. But the BEST thing about this hotel was the Front Desk person, ROBERT. He was really FANTASTIC and is a REAL CREDIT to the Best Western hotels. He was dressed and groomed smartly, VERY ENGAGING, ACCOMMODATING and couldn't have been MORE HELPFUL and COURTEOUS. If fact, since this visit I was back in NYC and my flight out of Laguardia was cancelled so of course I booked a room again at this WONDERFUL HOTEL. Unfortunately, ROBERT was off for the week, but the front desk people were very nice and ALMOST as good as ROBERT. But ROBERT is definitely SPECIAL. You should give him a raise. I came back and will come back again just because of ROBERT. Kudos to him!

« Most likely overbooked our room. Handling was not very proffessional. »

When we arrived at around 9pm we were told that there was "a problem with the water in our room", well, as I know from the booking platform that we booked the last room they sold and due to our arrival time I most likely think they simply overbooked and unlucky for them everyone showed up that day. So far no problem. Obviously not the most convinient situation when you arrive at your booked hotel after a long drive but for sure everyone is doing it that way. We were then offered a room in a Quality in 5 mins away. Kind of strange to be told "we have to go there" and not being asked whether we would be ok with it. Anyway, after some searching the lady at the dront desk "luckily" had the idea to contact the SleepInn right next to our booked BestWestern. Surprise, surprise, so seems like that is how they fill up that hotel when everybody books BestWestern . So she went over there with us and offered us two rooms as a compensation. Not sure if the lady over there at the front desk just did not understand it or tried to fool us but she did not seem like she wanted to give out those rooms so after some back and forth all in all it took more then an hour to finally get the rooms and a parking spot which is absolutly inacceptable in my mind. BestWestern could have at least prepared everything with the SleepInn and just give us the keys. No metter if there really was a problem with our room or, as I still think more likely, they lost the "Overbooking-Game". I still gave it two points because the room in the SleepInn was absolutly ok.

    « Value for money »

Being 200ft from a metro station in a city like New York was the best part. It was really just 10mins from downtown. Rooms were clean and breakfast was decent as well. They stored our luggage for $1 a bag too which was very helpful.

    « Great value »

Really happy with our stay. Hotels in NYC aren't cheap and I was pleased to find a reasonable rate at a hotel that met our needs: continental breakfast (important for our family of 5), free wifi (good to keep up with work), close to the subway (within walking distance of several stops) and beds for everyone (small room, but it had two queen beds and a pull out couch, which was perfect for the 5 of us). The staff was friendly and it was an all around good experience.

    « Review »

Only complaint was I did not like paying $19 to pay to park . Friendly staff and the room was great. The bed was nice and the shower although I had some issues turning it on was nice. I would stay at a Best Western again but not in the city because I did not like to pay to park my rental car.

    « Quite and Tidy »

A nice clean hotel... An affordable price too. Parking is not available for all cars, but street parking was fine. Breakfast buffet was a bit basic but efficient. The room was fairly furnished with a small empty fridge and a flat screen TV. the free wifi in room was a bit strange, as you got to login each and every time you want to browse.

« Comfortable for overnight before flight »

I stayed for one night before my early morning flight from LGA. Room was very comfortable & spacious. Clean but not spotless. Staff was friendly. I didn't use any other amenities nor the free breakfast. Uber was a quick 15 minute ride to the airport ($16). My room had a lousy view but that is not what I was looking for.

The advantage of this hotel is its location so close to a subway station very close to Manhattan. The service is good, the rooms are clean, the breakfast excellent. The surroundings are not appealing but price and location make it a good bargain.

« Easy access to subway, free breakfast & comfortable beds. Great for groups! »

Our group of 19 Girl Scouts stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is clean, the beds are comfortable and hot breakfast is included! Breakfast included pancakes, eggs, turkey sausage, bagels, danish, fruit, cereal, juice, coffee and milk. We filled our water bottles every morning from the ice machine and water in breakfast area. The subway to Manhattan is only 3 minutes (1.5 blocks) away. Very convenient. Staff was friendly. Very economical stay while in NYC! Half the cost of Times Square hotels! There is a Subway restaurant right next door. We highly recommend this hotel!

Nice place once you get there. A little sketchy riding the subway from JFK with family at 10:00 p.m. and walking the .25 miles from station. Rooms were clean, no bugs and breakfast was better than usual.

    « Great price and »

My husband and I stayed here just a few days ago with our 1 year old son and I could not be any happier that we chose BW. Location is only a couple blocks from subway, which makes it easy to reach downtown Manhattan. Price for the room was great, very affordable compared to Manhattan hotels that are just too overpriced in my opinion. The staff are phenomenal, very responsive to our needs and friendly. We also enjoyed their free breakfast buffet, although I wishes their dining area was a lot wider and had more space tables and chairs for guest to eat in. It was almost always full when we go grab our breakfast in the dining room (their food choices are that good and reasonable, no wonder every guest head over their every morning). I also appreciated the staff being accomodating in helping us locate other subways and places we could visit in NYC. The room was always clean and for a 2-3star hotel, it was very comfortable. Would not hesitate to book in BW again for our next trip in NYC. Cant thank the staff enough for their awesome job.

    « New York Experience »

My husband, daughter, grandson and I traveled to New York for the first time in June, 2016. We picked BW because of the price and the reviews. Happily, we were very happy with the experience. We knew that we were not going to be centrally located to some of the most popular locations, but could only afford what we could afford. Although this hotel was mid-priced, it turned out to be a very good choice for us. Staff was very friendly and helpful, free full breakfast was provided, and the room was clean and everything worked without any problems. I am quite sure that if we had any problems, they would have been addressed directly and quickly. Thank you Best Western!!

« Best value. Best choice. »

Stayed with family for four nights in April. Hotel was clean and comfortable with a nice breakfast to start the day. The hotel is convenient for Times Square a twenty minute subway ride and the subway is only a couple of minutes walk. It was good to retreat back here from the hectic mayhem of Manhattan would definitely use this hotel again, especially compared to the prices charged elsewhere. A special mention for Stephanie the receptionist/manager on the front desk, nothing was too much trouble for her she was so helpful and courteous, thanks so much.

    « Clean, Comfortable, A Good Buy »

A good value since it is handy to Manhattan but not in Manhattan price range. The subway is very close and takes you right to Manhattan. Room was ample space. The bathroom was very nice. The staff was very responsive.

« Good choice for NYC visit »

Good choice when visiting Manhattan, conveniently located in Queens. Within 20 min walk plenty of eating places near and around Broadway. We felt safe walking around at any time (although the area immediately around the hotel is a work area with several auto body shops. 10 minute ride to 5th Ave / 54th street works great, for a 2.75$ fare you can go from the hotel to the theater district. Roomy and much quieter and pleasant to sleep than hotels in the theater district Good price and good value Very clean rooms and helpful staff

« It works, but nothing to shout about »

This hotel ticks the boxes for all the basics you'd want. That is - decent rooms, near the metro, simple breakfast provided ... car parking available... free wifi. When I stayed they offered free luggage storage but not sure about now. But that's it. Neighbourhood wise, it's a bit of a crowded, noisy place that is typical Queens. The hotel itself has no proper frontage, so you have to stop your car on the pavement to unload your luggage. Assuming no one is blocking your passage. Service was better at breakfast then by the reception staff. I think I even flagged my own taxi to go to the airport. It was ok overall, but I think there is no compelling reason to stay here and next time I'll stick to staying in Manhattan... maybe just in the cheaper areas of that.

« Clean rooms but will stay elsewhere next time I'm in New York City »

The room was nice and clean, looked like a newer remodel on our bathroom. As mentioned in other comments, it's a very noisy street and this hotel is located in an industrial neighborhood with a NYC housing complex in the next block. There's not much to do in the immediate area. One plus is that there is a grocery store next door to the motel. The Astoria restaurants and shops are only a short UBER ride away. And the F subway line is a 2 block walk that will take you in to Manhattan. With that said, this hotel has a very small breakfast area. The food is ok and average for what you'll get at any chain hotel. The area is packed with people every morning and there is a line out the door. The tables are so close to each other that you can hardly move and each time we ate there, someone was always bumping into someone's table and spilling their drinks. They have a second small eating area but there's nothing in it. So, if you get your food, you better pile your plate full as there is a long line. This hotel needs to triple the size of their dining room. Just one of the reasons I won't come back. A second reason, is there is no laundry area here. When I completed my review with the Best Western chain, I mentioned this. Basically, that hey, it would help to win my business over if there was a laundry room here. My response from them was.. well, there's a laundromat 2 blocks away. I know there is one 2 blocks away, my point is that people come to New York and stay for a while and it would help to have a washer and dryer on the premises. You asked what it would take to have me come back and that was one of the reasons. One other reason I was dissatisfied with my stay here was the attitude of this hotel when the printer was jammed up during a weekend when guests want to print out their ticket to Broadway shows, the Statue of Liberty, boarding passes for their flight home, etc. They advertise a business center and it should be a priority to make sure the printer works. I called down before I purchased tickets to the Statue of Liberty and asked... "do you have a printer down there I can print out my tickets?" and the clerk responded yes. I ordered my tickets for 2 days later and went about my business. When I wanted to print them out the night before, I went to the business area and tried for about 10 minutes to get them to print... and kept getting a printer error. The whole time, the desk clerk was within 10 feet of me and never said a word. I'm removing the tray from the printer to see if there's paper in it... etc. Finally I ask her... is there something wrong with the printer ? And she says,,, yeah.. it's been jammed up since yesterday. Are you kidding me ? You couldn't put a sign on the printer that it's out of order... or call up a tech to come and fix it. And the hotel knew it's been jammed up for over a day.... Totally crappy customer service. She offered to print them for me and that's what it took.. but in order to do that, I had to download my tickets to their computer, then open up my Email.. attach my tickets to an Email... send it to the Best Western... and then she could print them... what a pain in the butt over something so important as a working printer. If you read other comments, it's mostly the same... it's a clean place.. close to the F line but it's noisy and some of the staff have a could care less attitude. I'm a Best Western Diamond member and won't ever stay here again .

« Charged for storing luggage »

I arrived around 11 am and it's not the checkin time yet. I understand I couldn't checked in at that time, so I just asked if I can leave my luggage with them while i go out to find something to eat. I was told that it's one dollar per luggage. Since I don't have any options, I paid $5 for the five bags for the three of us. The room is not so clean, I found dirt stains on the carpet. I have dust mite allergy and usually will have stuffy nose if the carpet is not clean (has many dust mites), about 5 min after I entered my room, my nose was stuffy. WIFI was terrible. I can hardly get google.com to load, forget about searching anything on google. We were put on the 9th floor, but still can hear the traffic from the street. Terrible. The windows are not double pane so any noise from outside we can hear it clear and loud. The insulation between rooms are also terrible. Breakfast was free but was so so. The only good thing about the hotel is the proximity to the subway station. But again, since I never been to New York before, I didn't know the neighborhood is not a safe neighborhood. If I know I would have stayed in New Jersey instead of this hotel.

    « Not great service »

So, this was the second time for me at this hotel. The first time was for business and I was alone, and I have to say it was not that bad. But now, with the family, I understood how bad their service was. So, don't get me wrong, location is 10 mins far (with metro) from the center of Manhattan and the price is great. The point and the biggest problem is the service. We were four and every day I had to go down to the reception because they didn't leave any shampoo in the room. Again, EVERY day, not just once. The second day I complained and told them to take note, we needed the shampoo. That was useless, the subsequent day same thing, no shampoo for us. Also, the room was never really cleaned. Another problem was that I was told I couldn't fill my bottles (two, for my kids) at the dispencer during breakfast. Are you kidding? Never happened something like that and, if I were them, I would have been more tolerant since everyone used to do that and it was just for my kids. So, if I had used cups and then filled the bottles with the cups... That It would have been ok. Crazy, right? Last but not least. At the reception desk, two guys were great and nice, great job. The two woman instead... Omg, stay away from them, absolutely not well prepared and not nice with the guests.

« Great Home away from home in the middle of a great neighborhood. »

My daughter and my grandchildren were coming here for their first visit to NYC. They were able to take the subway into the city both days that we stayed here!! Checking in was such an easy and comfortable experience due to the desk/ reception staff, specifically Robert and Kim. They both saw to it that my daughter, who arrived before me, was settled in her room and had reserved the room right next door to hers for me. Now that I have found this "GEM" I am looking forward to my next trip to visit family who live on L.I. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were so clean and the breakfast was just what we needed to start our day!!

« One Block from F Train Subway. F Train Takes you close to Time Square & Central Park with 2 block walk. »

Hotel was very clean and staff was polite. If you need extra soaps or shampoos or towels don't bother calling the from desk you will be waiting hours. Breakfast was hot and included but its nothing more nothing less than any other typical hotel breakfast. Free food in NYC area is a bonus. There is a Subway Sandwich chain right next to the hotel if you want something like that, there's also a 24/7 convince store, they sell candy liquor cigarettes and food. This location is about a block or 2 from low income housing projects. I walked past them at all hours feeling perfectly safe. If it was all females traveling I would recommend just paying the extra money and staying somewhere like Time Square or within blocks of central park. You won't have to deal trying the get on the right bus or train and it was confusing for me at 1st and I'm 33 male. Cellphone service is very limited taking subway. If you're worried about having cellphone service take the bus.

    « Always stay here. »

The staff at this hotel are always friendly to us, no matter what time we need them. The breakfast area is small and can be hard to negotiate in a crowd, but the food is very good and there is a good variety. Our rooms have always been comfortable and clean. This trip our family stayed on two different floors, in two different sides of the hotel and this proved to us that there is a big difference in stay experience depending on where you sleep. As fate would have it, I have always stayed in rooms on the 9th floor, turning right as you get off the elevator, (rooms 916 and 915)) and these rooms here are always quiet. However, this trip the rest of my family stayed in room 501 (I believe that was the number) which is to the left of the elevator and their room had a lot of noise coming from somewhere outside at night. It is New York and you have to expect such things, but if you require a quiet evening, ask for rooms on the top floors, closer to the grocery store next door. An odd thing about the 5th floor room was that it had a shower and no tub, which you would assume was for handicap accessibility, though the lack of tub was the only evidence of this. The shower had no shelves to put shampoo, soap, etc. on, so items brought into the shower had to be left on the floor, which was both very unusual and incredibly awkward. All of the other rooms we have stayed in have had a shower and tub with plenty of places to leave soap and shampoo for easy use. Can't beat this hotel for convenience either, it is almost RIGHT on the F, which makes it very easy to get around, but if you need a taxi the hotel will call one for you and the service they use is wonderful. The drivers who picked up my mother (who uses a cane and couldn't do the subway every day) were always friendly and the cars were always clean. We used to search for the cheapest hotels in the city, but once we found this place, we stopped looking. We can drive up and park our car at the hotel, then take the subway around without any trouble. There are LIMITED parking spaces (I think 8 or 9), but we have never had a problem.

« close to the Noguchi Museum »

Clean, quiet, well maintained rooms with all the usual amenities plus more space than you usually get in NYC for the same price. Breakfast is also better than your average free breakfast. Conveniently located near the F line 2 stops from midtown Manhattan. Best of all, it's within walking distance to the superb Noguchi Museum.

Close to everything that I needed. Rooms very clean and quiet from any noise. Staff members were very friendly especially front desk member Hafsah she when far and beyond loved the attitude she brings to the hotel.

« Quiet, comfortable and close to subway »

Myself and a friend stayed here for three nights while visiting NY. Good choice! We had a room on the top floor (10) with a view of the city. The king bed was very comfortable, the shower was great with good pressure, wifi not so good but did work, air conditioning worked well. Breakfast was included and was good. Only problem was, the breakfast room was too small. One small block from 21st and Queensbridge St Station. Come out of the station then turn around and walk up 21st St passed some high rise flats and when you get near the next cross street you can see the sign on the hotel. If I come back to NY, I would stay here again.

« Great value for money »

I have given this hotel a five star rating because when you book a Best Western hotel you know exactly what to expect (clean, well run, helpful staff and well above normal Motel standards) and this hotel delivers on all points. So apart from that why book this particular hotel? That's easy - you get a great hotel in New York for half the cost of a hotel in Manhattan. Yes - it's in Long Island City but it's less than five minutes walk from the Subway station that's directly on Subway route from JFK. Forget the so called restaurants in the area they don't exist you have to travel into NY proper to eat but the Subway is efficient, you buy a Subway pass anyway so it costs you nothing, and how do you normally eat it NY - you take the Subway to an ethnic area for the best food. With this hotel, in my opinion, you gain everything and loose nothing.

« Very accommodating, nice clean room »

We got there hours before check-in; we couldn't get a room yet but they let us change in the restroom and let us get one of the parking spaces. We checked out on time but needed to keep our car in the parking lot for an extra couple of hours, and they let us do that. Stephanie was terrific!

« Great hotel, super close to Manhattan! »

My wife and I were very happy we chose the Best Western Plaza Hotel. It is super close to Manhattan (2 stops away on the F train), clean, quiet, and safe. Several times we were arriving back at the hotel late at night and we never felt unsafe walking the short distance from the subway station to the hotel. If we were going to list some cons, two would be that the elevators are very slow, and that the breakfast area is cramped. Having said that - a free breakfast is better than a purchased breakfast so we can't complain. Staff (specifically at the front desk and breakfast area) were very friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again on our next trip to the area!

    « Great stay »

It was nice stay. There was reconstruction of the reception area so it will be even nicer later. We had very nice free breakfast and it is close to subway and short ride form most monuments on Manhatten :-)

    « good »

The main hall for breakfast was little busy so, I think it might be better if you prepare same foods for quests in diffrent room which you just have set tables and chairs next to main hall. anyway, everything were almost very good.

« Value for money, nice and clean room! »

Location of the hotel is decent-close to the subway and quick ride to Manhattan. Breakfast was nothing special. Room and bathroom clean, spacious. Great value for money Check in/out quick. However hotel is a bit dated, specially the lobby. In order to save money but still stay close to Manhattan this is a great option.

    « Great hotel!! »

Stayed here in march for 14nights. After reading some of the reviews we weren't expecting much but were pleased with our choice. The hotel was easy to find and check in was fast. The 2 hotel staff were really friendly and gave us an option of floors. We choose floor 10. When we got to the room we noticed it had limited views of manhattan due to being far along the corridor. We rang down to reception who were more than happy to help us change rooms. We changed to floor 9 (room 907) and the view of manhattan was amazing. The room was clean and big enough with a large kingsize bed, bedside tables, desk and tv unit with a coffee machine and mini fridge. There was a free safe inside the wardrobe along with an iron and ironing board. The bathroom was large and had a bath and shower. Towels were changed everyday and soaps etc were changed more than once while we were there. There was also a heater/air con in the room to use free of charge. One of the best things about the hotel was the free wifi. You could get it anywhere in the hotel which was good. The hotel also offered a free breakfast. There was plenty to choose from including cereal, toast, scrambled egg, sausage, bagels, doughnuts, pancakes and pastries. There was also yoghurts and fresh fruit available. There was also a selection of hot drinks and juices. The staff at breakfast were friendly and helped you find a seat as the area is small and gets crowded. The hotel also had a small gym and a business room. The hotel was in a great location, approximately 15mins into manhattan on the F line. 21 Queensbridge station was a 2 min walk from the hotel. The neighbourhood wasn't the best but we never had any trouble. There was a few small shops nearby with a overpriced supermarket next door and a reasonably priced corner shop. There was also a subway and small takeaway next door. We would definitely stay at the hotel again and will recommend in the future.

    « Amazing Time! »

Although the front lobby was in shambles due to reconstruction, service was fanstastic and the room was very comfy. The breakfast was actually edible which was very nice. I really enjoyed my stay and will book again at best western!

    « Great Stay »

This was a great hotel to stay at for my family and I. The receptionist, Stephanie, was absolutely amazing. She had a warm greeting and allowed us to check in early. The breakfast was pretty good. The room was nice and clean. I would definitely recommend staying here to anyone. We toured the city for the day and used the metro, which was very close to the hotel. Overall a great trip and great stay!

    « Loved this hotel »

Ok, yes... not the greatest surroundings. Yet we never had an issue with the locals. We walked down the street and were met wth friendly nods. The hotel room was clean and comfy. We were on the 9th floor with a spectacular view of the bridge and Manhatten. I didn't hear any noises in the hall or from the rooms next door. Th bathrooms were fresh with clean towels everyday. The breakfast was fine, a nice perk. I have no complaints. We absolutely adored the night crew at the front desk. They were the best I've ever had the privilege to meet in my many travels. Very helpful, friendly, and we had incessant questions they were more than happy to answer. Miss u guys!!! Thanks for the bottle opener. Would I come here again? Absolutely! We stayed 4/19/16 - 4/23/16. My sisters Best Western points paid for our sleeps. Looking forward to more visits!

« Great for a budget trip to NY »

We chose the Best Western Plaza for our trip to NY as we were on a budget and didn't want to pay Manhattan prices. It has great placement for the subway station, only a couple of minutes walk. You are only 10 minutes from Central Park and Rockefeller Center, so don't let people tell you Long Island is miles from Manhattan! The front desk staff were really helpful when we arrived and sorted out a problem with our room, even though the hotel was full. Much appreciated! The room was clean, if a little tired. There was a lovely big shower which was great after a long day walking around. The breakfast room is small and gets very busy. There is a limited range but it was enough for us (cereal, eggs, doughnuts, bread, pastries, yoghurt). We stocked up in the morning and then had a main meal about 3-4pm while we were out. The restaurants are much quieter then and we never had to wait for a table. The area is industrial and looks a bit run down but we had/saw no problems. The free Wi-Fi is great and meant we could stay in touch with family at home. Take some ear plugs! We were on the 8th floor but there was still a lot of traffic noise and American emergency vehicles are very loud! There was also a fair amount of general hotel noise, people coming and going.

« Great place to stay »

On our big holiday we decided to use this Hotel as it was within our budget and was near enough to the Met to make the whole of New York accessible. On arrival we were drenched from walking to the hotel, there was concern immediately and when we requested a room on a lower floor there was no querying why, it was just authorised immediately. The bed was easily the most comfortable bed I've slept in, in my life and the view from the window showed the Manhattan skyline and Brooklyn Bridge beautifully. The facilities in the room all worked perfectly, and the staff were happy to help with any request. The only qualms I would have are both out of the hotels hands, firstly the surrounding area didn't feel safe, if you walked more than 2 blocks away from the hotel it definitely felt a little dangerous. Finally the walls/doors were thin enough that you could hear anything happening in the lobby, and if fellow guests were loud enough, in nearby rooms also. Overall I'd say this hotel is brilliant for its price and helps to have a great holiday, we'll definitely be back again.

« Good location and breakfast »

This hotel is in quite good location when you don't want to stay in the city. There is no free coffee in the lobby and only give you once coffee in the room per stay..no matter how many night! One thing is this hotel is so popular and all full booked..I have order package to be delivered to the hotel and didn't get it...I don't think anything went wrong with the top-seller of Ebay but the hotel staff may be too busy and mix thing up.

    « Lovely holidays »

We enjoyed our stay to Best Western Plaza in Long Island city a lot , the staff was very kind and helpful and the rooms are perfect especially the ones with view on the bridge (wonderful view !). We will definitely recommand this hotel.

« Long Island City - easy access to Manhattan »

We stayed for 8 days. The front desk staff were helpful and friendly every time we approached them whether to ask for assistance or just to say, have a good day. The computer station in the lobby worked well. Breakfast area was clean and well maintained, fresh fruit and yogurt along with scrambled eggs, turkey sausage and pancakes daily. It is only a few minutes walk to the subway station that will take you into Manhattan where the options are limitless. The bus across the street will take you to Astoria, which has a plethora of great restaurants. You will hear sirens and cars and people from the windows in your room - it is part of the character of staying in a city like New York. We would recommend and we would stay again.

« A Great Option for New York »

This is a modest but excellent hotel that offers a fitness center, a high quality full breakfast, and clean, comfortable rooms, in a location that is convenient to LaGuardia and JFK, and to Manhattan and in fact all five boroughs. There are both cheaper options and more luxurious and convenient options, but for a combination of value, comfort, and convenience, this place is hard to beat. Minor inconveniences that some might object to are very visible service/cleaning personnel at some times of day, and frequent family groups including boisterous children. Neither of those bothers me much.

    « Good hotel »

Just got back from a 5 night stay at this hotel.situated in long island city, 3 minutes walk from the 21st queensbridge metro station which is on the F train line and will have you into central manhatten within 15 minutes, and hotels outside of manhatten are a lot cheaper, so more money to spend whilst on your visit, if going to use metro well worth buying a 7 day unlimited travel metro and buses for 32.00 dollars, great value considering a single trip will cost you 2.75 each time. Checking in was very easy, staff very polite and efficient, my room was on the 9th floor, also our room had a good manhatten view, lifts to all floors so no problem there, room was spacious and clean, free wifi in room and all areas, it was not to fancy but was clean, there is complimentry breakfast available for all guests, coffee, tea, croissants, bagels, doughnuts, cereals, scrambled eggs, pancakes, yoghurts, friut. the dining room is a bit manic at times but i found going for breakfast around 09.30 was not to bad as most guests was finishing around that time. the area around the hotel is not the best location, but if visiting nyc sights you will be spending most time in Manhatten. If in new york again will consider this hotel again if the price is right

« Good value for money »

Good value for money. 2-3 minutes walk to the Subway station and 10 minute subway ride to Times Square. The area is industrial and a bit dodgy maybe but we never felt unsafe. Good supermarket next door, subway, deli e.t.c. Highly recommended.

    3
« So Close and Yet »

The neighborhood is not exciting but for a place to sleep this hotel is really great. The Queensboro Bridge is only a few blocks away and has no toll. The subway is about two blocks away. There were places to park the car. Clean and sane double bed room. If I could get the same price every time I would look no further.

    4
« Easy to get in to the city »

Stayed here for a few days, quick walk to the subway which was only 2 stops to be right down in the city. The area itself was mostly car repair places and didn't feel super comfortable walking at nighttime but the price was good and there was free parking outside the hotel. Room was pretty big and was clean, also continental breakfast was great.

« Just wished all the Best western hotels had same service »

speedy check in with info on what is nearby (e.g, 2 min walk to the station, 10 min ride on the subway to manhattan). Clean room, with a view over the city, i got a great price from hotwire for a last minute booking. I had actually booked the Best western plus at seaport for 4 nights but the service there and the room was so awful e checked out after the first night and came to this one.... What a diference.

« Spacious rooms and friendly staff »

Staff was very friendly and accommodating, as I forgot to pack deodorant and I was given one by the hotel (they had other items if needed, but thankfully we didn't). The rooms were spacious for NY hotels as there were 4 adults in the same room with plenty of space. Rooms were equipped with a refrigerator and you could use the microwave in the breakfast area if needed. There is a grocery store right next door should you need anything. The hotel is a couple blocks away from the F train. We would definitely stay here again.

« Best New York Value and Location »

If you must have Manhattan... fine. If you want a great location and value, stay at this hotel. One block from the subway, two stops onto Manhattan and a handful of stops to anywhere midtown. The local train also goes to Coney Island! We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed good sleep every night in a clean room with HBO. In the morning we enjoyed the free breakfast (except the turkey sausage...). After breakfast it's one block to the subway and then back each night around midnight. Very good location and value. I would stay at Best Western Plaza Long Island City again for sure.

    5
« All the convenience of Manhattan without being there »

The location of this hotel, just over the Queensboro Bridge (aka 59th Street Bridge to natives) in Long Island City is excellent. A block away from the subway station, which is handicap accessible, makes it easy to get to even if you have luggage. Rooms were small but very functional and comfortable. The breakfasts buffet was among the best I have had. The local "fast food" establishments and restaurants were excellent and inexpensive.

    4
« Good Hotel, good prices, dodgy area »

This hotel is clean, modern and the twin rooms on the top floor are well spaced. The views of Manhattan are good and even better at night. The Empire State Building right in the middle of the view. The breakfast was good with limited hot food. Whilst not in Manhattan, this hotel is only two Subway stops away from the island and it's minutes to the heart of Manhattan. Two minutes walk from the closest Subway. The area around the hotel and Subway is run down and not the most desirable. Whilst you wouldn't walk around on your own at night, in couples or groups you skulls be fine. There's also a couple of other hotels next door, so a footfall of tourists should be close by.

    « Awesome »

I would definitely come here again. Super clean room. Breakfast was actually breakfast and it tasted good not fake. Hotel staff very friendly and kind anything you need they will get or help you get. I did have my worries but boy was I wrong. Frist time booking through internet. Rate 10, the price was great everything was great. Thank you Robert & Christain.

« Fantastic Location, Great Staff, Brilliant View »

We stayed in room 1011 with a fantastic view of the Manhattan skyline, unfortunately there was still an undertone of cigarette smoke. However apart from that we found the staff polite, friendly and informative. The breakfast buffet was as expected and the donuts were a particular treat and much better than expected. The location Manhattan is really good with only 2 stops from 21st street until 57th. I would completely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a budget stay in New York with fantastic travel links and Free-Wifi.

    « short break »

Have just returned from a Monday to Friday break staying at this hotel. Lovely friendly staff, always with a smile and willing to point you in the right direction. Breakfast is fab with plenty to choose from. Rooms could have been a little cleaner with the sprinklers looking dirty and clogged up. Close to a subway station and really easy to get into the city and all the popular points of interest. We just had problems getting back on the subway but that was down to poor subway signs. Very much aimed at the younger tourists. Overall, we do feel we had value for money at this hotel.

« Great hotel, great location, great holiday »

So me and my partner visited the best western plaza on 21st Street on March 1st till the 8th so for a week!. We arrived at newark airport and took the nj transit to manhattan and then the subway to the hotel (all very easy and cheap) We got checked in straight away with no issues (need a credit/debit card incase of incidentals). The check in was great, lovely service and we got given a map and a list of places and how to get there from the hotel (very handy!). We stayed on the 9th floor and had a manhattan view!!! Amazing. The bed was big enough for three or four people, the view was amazing, there was a security box and TV and fridge all in the room. the shower was a little tricky (you have to pull the gold rim down from the tap to make the shower head work). The hotel is a block and a half away from the subway (2 stops and you in manhattan) there is a giant supermarket next door which has everything. Just a great experience! Trust me you won't regret going here.

I had booked this hotel for 5 days. As my final business meeting was cancelled at the last minute, I decided to check out and go home. I checked out at 7:30 a.m. on the final day of my reservation but was fully charged for that final day. As I am a Diamond Elite Member of Best Western, I expected better than that from this hotel chain.

« Very good value for money »

I was glad to have stayed here for 6 nights. We had a nice and quiet Manhattan view twin room. Housekeeping was very good and so was the free breakfast. Very friendly staff there. The rate was good too - and we had easy access to either JFK Airport and all parts of the city by subway. I surely would choose this hotel again on my next visit to NYC.

« GREAT HOTEL! (ESPECIALLY STAFF) »

I booked a flight to NY through Expedia and this hotel popped up. First time staying here and i enjoyed it so much! The staff was great. It was my second time coming to NY but my first staying in a hotel and i didn't know how to take the subway, buses, or where to eat and the staff was so incredibly nice and helpful. They gave us a bunch of menus to look at and suggested which ones were better. Loved that they had directions on how to get to the tourist spots at their front desk as well! I will definitely stay at Best Westerns in the future, especially with their FREE breakfast options, (and no its not just bagels and muffins lol)

« A nice hotel with great staff. »

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and 3 days with our two young kids, while visiting the NY city. Adequately sized rooms with wonderful staff at reception and in the breakfast area. We expected an average facility and services, but surprisingly it turned out to be great. Many breakfast items even for vegetarians. Very close to Manhattan and various attractions. Would love to stay here again.

« Clean Hotel, Great Breakfast »

Stayed at this hotel with a group on 2-20-16. I am not familiar with what other lodging options are nearby, but this was a nice clean hotel in the middle of the city. Our room was small with 2 double beds but it was fine for a short stay. The room was equipped with a mini refrigerator. The hot continental breakfast was good. There were 2 ladies (hotel staff) that were stocking/serving the breakfast. Do not know their names but I want to give them a shout-out for doing a great job! They welcomed each guest into the breakfast area and showed them the breakfast options as well as pointing them to available tables (the breakfast area was full when I was down). I've had many hot continental breakfast's at hotels but I do not recall service like this. I thot it was a very nice gesture. My only complaint would be the pillows on the bed. They were not comfortable and did not seem quality at all. That being said, I don't believe this has anything to do with this specific Best Western hotel. I had stayed in a Best Western in Kentucky the weekend before that had identical pillows. Other than my pillow complaint, the stay was great!

    « Great value! »

Stayed here for two nights 2/13-2/15 for Valentine's Day weekend. Very convenient to the subway and the front desk was very helpful. The room was clean and we lucked out with a view of Manhattan. The neighborhood has nothing to offer in regards to restaurants or shops, but most are here for the traditional Manhattan attractions anyway. Getting an Uber was no problem either and generally ran us about $20, which isn't bad considering it was a holiday weekend. Will definitely stay here again. If driving into NYC, be prepared to pay for parking at $25 a day. We felt it was worth it given the garage appeared pretty secure.

    « Outstanding Value »

This hotel is very clean, comfortable, well maintained & managed so everything is in good working order. It is located just east of Manhattan with easy access to Times Square by subway or car. The price is about a third of (definitely less than half than) what a comparable hotel in the Manhattan would be. It is outstand value.

    5
« Great hotel, great location, great price!! »

You can't fault this hotel for the money. It is very clean and welcoming. I went with my 14 year old daughter last week and felt safe at all times and we rode the subway everywhere. The subway is across the road and it is only 2 stops to Rockefeller Centre/42nd Street and 4 stops to central New York/Times Square. Room was cleaned daily and had fridge/TV/coffee maker/toiletries. The breakfast was repetitive but had everything you could want from cereal/yoghurts/fruit to pancakes and doughnuts. I would definitely recommend this hotel for anyone visiting New York.

    « Great option! »

Long Island city has long become a good place to stay if you want to avoid the high prices of hotels in Manhattan. This is the fourth hotel that I stay in LIC, and it was the best one! Spacious rooms, very close to the subway, good breakfast (although not a lot of options) and a good staff. I have to point out some downsides: 1. If you arrive early in the morning, it is most likely your room will not be ready, since check in starts at 3pm. Ok, no probkem, but the hotel charges you 1USD per bag to leave them in an area in the lobby! This is the first hotel I was ever charged for this small service 2. The hotel also charges 2USD per package if you order something by mail, if the package is bigger, the fee goes up to 4USD! Again, this is the first hotel I've been to that charges to receive a package by mail 3. The heating system works fine, but it is very noisy, especially at night! Overrall it is a good option to stay in.

    « Good affordable Hotel »

I have a good experience with this hotel, staff are nice and helpful. Our room was cleaned, have flat screen tv and mini fridge, bathroom was large enough to move around. Good location hotel if you want to visit NY in a budget, 3 subway stops and you are in downtown NY. The subway station is just 3 minutes walk from hotel (line 7 i think), and 10 minutes (i think) by taxi from La Guardia Airport. There is a supermarket next to the hotel and few food shops around too. We stayed in December 2015, the week of Christmas day and we got a good rate. Overall we will stay again in the future.

    4
« Good Hotel, Good Location, Good Price! »

The hotel itself is nice for its price, there is a flat screen TV and mini fridge, no microwave in the room but there is one in the breakfast dining area that you can use. The room was adequate for 3 persons, we stayed in a two double beds room, the bathroom was large enough to move around, and free continental breakfast included in our price. The hotel staff are nice, helpful and knowledgeable in their job. The hotel location is just 10 minutes maybe by taxi from La Guardia airport, we just paid under $20 from the airport to hotel. The hotel neighborhood is not very fancy looking but we feel safe even at night coming home from our day adventure in NY city. The subway is just literally 3 minutes walk from the hotel (I think it was line 7), 3 stops and you are in downtown NY. There is also a supermarket next to the hotel, there were also few food shops around the hotel like subway, pizza and chicken place, oriental restaurant. Overall the hotel is a good location with affordable price if you want to visit NY without breaking your pocket and save your money instead for food and attractions in NY. We traveled in December, the week of Christmas day and we got a good rate, so I recommend the hotel. I would recommend buying the unlimited subway/bus pass which is good for a week and it's only $30 per person, this will save you also some money.

Me and my girlfriend came here, NONE OF US SMOKE AT ALL. Yet they charged me $200 fee for smoking. They claim to have found ashes on the table and bed. on the table we had our phones and napkins. I don't understand how they found ashes if none of us smoked. When i read reviews i saw people said it smelled when i got there it smelled a bit like smoke i didn't complain cause i was expecting the smell of smoke. The front desk maneger is rude and theres no point in trying to deal with her at all. No one else can fix anything and none of the workers care. I asked her to send me the pictures and she didnt i called back and then she sent me pictures of some ash and burn mark under the bed, it had to have been there from before cause i definitely didnt smoke in the room at all. It was the worst experience. If you want to get charged for stuff you didnt do go stay here.

« Bed bugs and health risks! »

Be very careful with this hotel and first check recent reviews very carefully! Our honeymoon was partly gone due to a bedbug infestation in this hotel. Found very dirty rooms with food behind night tables and dirty walls and bathrooms. Management lies in your face and hides in an attempt to avoid problems. Breakfast is a joke and food handled very bad with risk of food poisoning. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. You can get much better hotels for this money. Best western is considered one or two star low quality motel in the US and has nothing to do with the quality of the brand in for example Europe!

« BEWARE OF THIS BW LONG ISLAND CITY »

The front desk people at this hotel does not care too much about the costumers. Very bad service at the front desk. Breakfast is ok and the cleanning in the room is very poor. After two days I move to the Best Western Seaport in Manhattan, I paid for a night at the BW LIC, that I did not used, but the BW seaport was worth it in every way. Great hotel in Seaport, Manhattan, highly recommended

    « More than exceeded expectations :D »

My wife and I stayed here for 6 nights last week. To be honest, we loved it. Spacious room, very comfortable large bed and 5 nice pillows. Fridge, coffee maker, TV, Wifi in room. From the lobby, the hotel is very well presented and clean throughout. Breakfast was decent, lots to choose from. Anyone who says its inedible needs their head testing, maybe it could be a bit better but it could be a lot worse! And it's free! Enough to keep you going for a day exploring the city. Plus, tea and coffee is free all day, bonus! The breakfast room is a little small, but there is a overflow room, even though we never needed to use that, or you can take it to your room :) All the staff we encountered were very friendly, we always got a "morning" or a "hello". The neighbourhood isn't the most pleasing on the eye, but we always felt safe and were out and about quite late some nights, plus it's located next to a big supermarket and a short walk to the metro from where you can easily get anywhere :) 10/15 mins to Manhattan. This was our first stop of an 8 week tour of the states, and we couldn't of really asked for anywhere better to start our adventure, we were really happy here, had no problems and would happily recommend this hotel to anyone and would definitely book this again if we were to return to NYC. :D Big thank you to all staff :D

    « Wonderful Stay »

I had a very good experience with this hotel and I have stayed here before and the service was excellent as well. I found the location to be an excellent place for me because my mother lived nearby. The hotel itself was very clean, the attendants were friendly and very welcoming (something you don't get in many places) and the halls, breakfast area were spotless. I am very happy I stayed here once again. In the future, when I come to NY, I will reconsider this place once again because of the location and the way the place is kept.

    « BEDBUGS »

I arrived for business on a Monday afternoon, everything was fine. then i woke up with bites all over my body. I thought it was a rash, but on the last day of my stay as I was photographing my arm bites to show my husband, there it was a huge bedbug on the bed. I grabbed a cup and boxed him into the bed. The housekeeper came up to see the bug and told me to leave the room immediately and throw out all my luggage. When all was said and done, they reimbursed me the cost for the 3 nights, they said they would clean my clothes and send them back to me. I had to throw out my luggage. They were so rude and mean and were not apologetic at all. when they did finally ship me back my clothes cleaned, half of them were stolen!

« Not Customer friendly or customer concentric »

The staff is not honest about the parking situation and I was given a occupied room . My daughter took some luggage up to the room and found it occupied . After that i did not feel safe and secure at this hotel at ALLIt was new years eve and there were no other hotels with availability we asked for a refund or something since I have stayed with Best Westerns before we were turned down..I would not stay here until management handles there issues here . Not safe

« Great value, near subway »

The room is a bit small and outdated. They offer free breakfast with eggs, muffins, bagels, oats, sausages, bacon, fruits, yogurt. They have a lot of choices for breakfast. Staffs were nice and attentive. The location is near the subway, a few blocks walk which is very convenient.

« Good Value in NYC »

This is a clean and comfortable hotel, located only one block from the NYC subway ("F" Line) station. From there, you are two stops away from Manhattan, so the location is quite good if you cannot find or afford a place in Manhattan.

    « STAY »

The stuff was very kind and help us for all ours request, the rooms are good, breakfast was excellent, the location is quite quiet, no noise also if the hotel is on a main street. Very near to a Subway station and you can reach down town in 10 minutes. The rate was interesting also looking of the period, just after the 1th day of the year. You can find also a free parking especially during the week end

    « Completely Wonderful »

The Best Western Plaza in Long Island City worked wonderfully for us. For 30 + years visiting New York City, we've always stayed in Manhattan. For our most recent trip, however, Manhattan hotel rates were higher than average. Thanks to Trip Advisor, we found this hotel. The staff was professional, friendly, and helpful. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and it had an excellent showerhead. The free breakfast was better than average with a great selection of yogurts, small pastries and other items. Best of all in terms of Long Island City, it is the closest hotel to the 21st/Queensbridge subway station on the F line. You are minutes from midtown via the MTA. The hotel is one block north of the subway stop on 21st Street, a major street. Also, immediately north of the hotel is a Green Apple Market, a brand new grocery supermarket, not simply a bodega. We would highly recommend it, and we will likely return to the hotel on a future visit. I almost hate to post this review, fearing that this convenient, comfortable, affordable hotel will be overrun. I'd just as soon keep it a secret!

    « Happy Camper »

Location is nearby to subway and Queensboro Bridge. Several places within walking distance to grab something quick to eat. Very happy with overall experience. Only downside is that there is very limited on-site parking.

    « Reliable and Clean »

I have stayed at this hotel several times, and it's a great value for the price, especially considering the convenience to NYC/midtown. The hotel is your standard Best Western, but it's clean and well-maintained (not a given in NYC). It's two blocks to the F-train, and there's new grocery store next door. It's located next to housing projects, but nobody bothers you, and in general I felt safe even after dark. Stephanie at the front desk accommodated all my requests and provided great customer service. Make sure to ask for a room in the back of the hotel on a higher floor where it is quieter. The Manhattan skyline view is worth more than you pay! There is a basic and busy breakfast bar, and budget a few extra minutes for the elevators if you're on a high floor. When I checked into my room the heater was broken, but maintenance came within minutes and provided a new space heater which solved the problem. The mini-fridges are also not the coldest, so take that into account when buying snacks or drinks. Overall, if your expectations are in line with NYC prices, you'll be pleased with the consistency and value of this hotel.

« Powdered Eggs for Breakfast »

My kids and I had to carry our breakfast up four flights of stairs because there wasn't enough seating at breakfast and the elevator wasn't working. The breakfast was bad. Powdered eggs, awful "sausages", and soggy pancakes. We left a day early and didn't get our money refunded because of a cancellation policy. It's one thing if you leave early because you have to. It's another thing to leave early if the hotel experience was not what you expected.

« A great choice at Queens with Manhatam view. »

This hotel is probably the best choice at Queens if you are visiting New York. The staff were very kindly, the breakfast was very good and the location was quite close to the F subway. This is a great place to stay.

    4
« Good value, good service »

My sister and I spent five nights here recently. We were pleased with our room (and it's view), the staff and the location. We definitely received good value for our money. I hope to stay here again. Stephanie at the front desk was especially helpful.

    5
    « Excellent hotel »

Room was in excellent condition. Hotel was very convenient to subway F train and only 10 minutes to Manhattan. New York is a big city; if you are here on a leisure trip, you will be riding the subway anyway. Why pay the extra cost of Manhattan. Brand new grocery store just opened next to hotel.

« I keep coming back to this place - it is just wonderful and feels like home!!! »

This is the first time I am reviewing this hotel, although I have been coming to this place since Dec 2009. My word! They have not changed a bit and that is really very good!! The check-in was very efficient, friendly and quick. For all travellers out there, the best way to reach this hotel is through the F Train Subway. Of course, you could drive there, but it is anybody's guess on the quality of ride anywhere in New York. The breakfast area is small, but good enough. In fact they had a smaller space in 2009, but have now allotted extra space for breakfast. They had not had sausage and scrambled eggs before, which they have now added to the breakfast. The selection of breakfast is good for a hungry morning. Europeans (mostly Germans) may not like the plastic cutlery, but I think it is good enough. The rooms are very clean (the ones on the 10th floor are the best!!) and I have stayed on mostly all the floors above 4th in my visits. They have an efficient house-keeping service. To downtown Manhattan - to the Liberty Island Ferry, Wall St, Ground Zero etc. - it is just 45 minutes by the F Train to 34th St and then transfer from there. The F Train subway station is a few minutes walk from the hotel and is very convenient. A very good place to stay and excellent value for money.

    « Felt unsafe »

Felt unsafe at this hotel people were wandering in and out at all times. If you want soft drink or snack it has to be obtained from vending machine Outside didn't feel safe with people hanging about and big piles of garbage The breakfast was ok and the rooms basically clean but only stayed 2 if the four nights booked The hotel would benefit from security on the door

« Reasonably priced nice hotel »

Stayed for five nights, hotel is one subway stop away from manhattan and is very easy to access the subway. All accommodation in new york is very expensive, this is a reasonably priced option when compared to everything else. Decent sized room with a large bed and shower, all the amenities you could need. We had a Manhattan view room which was lovely, had a good view of the skyline. Breakfast is good given it's free, a selection of cereal, bread, fruit, yoghurt, juice and pastries. The breakfast area is very busy, on 4/5 days we found a table relatively quickly but on the other day we just decided to grab what we wanted and go back up to the room. Staff friendly and helpful. Overall, would definitely stay again.

    5
« Good location and great staff »

A few station from Manhattan and only minutes walk to the subway is the main reason of choosing this hotel. We encountered some issue when checking in (not the hotel's problem) and the staff, Robert kept ensuring us that he will try his best to settle for us. And he really did! We were really appreciate. Will definitely recommend to my friends!

    4
« Nice room. Great staff »

I was very satisfied with this hotel. The room was a decent size, beds were super comfortable, shower had great pressure, and room was nice and clean. All hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Neighborhood was a little sketchy. Short walk to F train. Breakfast was good.

    5
    « Outstanding Experience »

We were visiting New York for a few days and were very pleased to have found a great place to stay through TripAdvisor! The hotel was very convenient to the city and was very comfortable. We highly recommend it and plan to stay here again.

« Great Stay - What you would expect from a hotel »

Clean air-conditioned room, bathroom necessities, comfortable bed. RIght outside Manhattan and fully accessible by subway (station 0.1 miles away). Overall, great experience here. Neighborhood not so great, but not so bad either. But the hotel is not to blame for that.

    4
    « Clean and Accommodating »

This hotel is among the cleanest I have ever stayed in and the staff was very accommodating. At first glance, the hotel location seems to be in a sketchy location, however we stayed 2 nights, took advantage of the convenience of the subway into New York City (1.5 Blocks from the Hotel) and we were never uncomfortable navigating the streets.

    4
    « Good Experience »

Stayed one night, price was reasonable and all was fine. Reception was helpful, room decent sized. Location was good with a short walk to F train (don't mistakenly take E train back from Manhattan) and the city is a few stops away. Area is industrial but you're really there to be close to the city and not pay an outrageous hotel bill. Breakfast was okay, nothing special but had the basics. Wifi worked well, so all and all satisfied.

« Convenient Neighborhood Hotel location. »

Conveniently located neighborhood hotel, decent availability, good food. The service by staff was better than average. the Flat screen T.V. served my needs. The beds were very comfortable. The only thins that I may have had a problem with was the lock on the door was not in the best working condition.I mighthave been given a full bath instead of just a shower. But the room was comfortable and the food was excellent.

« Great location for NYC trip »

This was the second time I stayed at this hotel in Queens New York and find it very reasonably priced and only 1 block away from the subway. With only 4 stops to midtown Manhattan it is very convenient. Breakfast was good and plentiful. Rooms are clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a great view of midtown Manhattan also.

    4
    « Good Value Hotel »

This hotel is good value for money. Everything worked well and the rooms were clean. It's in a good location in terms of accessing trains to Manhattan and JFK/Laguardia airports. There didn't appear to be many good restaurants in the area, so plan to eat elsewhere. If you need a reasonably priced hotel near Manhattan, this is a good option.

    3
    « acceptable »

medium best western standard...front rooms are on the street, back on the river. $ per night are ok for nyc, nearly clean and we had helpful hands from the stuff for a broken shower. breakfast ok to start in the day. manhattan is just over the bridge. subway is just a short walk from there.

    4
« Good hotel for the price »

The hotel check in and check out was hassle free. The temperature in the room was good. Though there should be sufficient lights when needed, room lights were dim, could not read anything in the room. The coffe machine was not working.

    3
    « Convenient and confortable »

This hotel is very convenient to/from LGA and Manhattan. For the price and the location I was able to overlook some of the other things that bothered me. The wifi would always disconnect from my phone, maybe it was my phone but I dont think so. I had to enter the password in every time. The password was written on the keycard envelope, I didn't have to ask for it. The king room we had was TINY but very clean and comfortable. The breakfast food was not great. The hot food is not prepared well, so I stuck to the pastries. The elevators were very slow. I called the day before to request early check in and he said no problem but upon check in we were not able to check in early and had to leave our bags in the lobby til we came back that night. The check in clerk was not very accommodating. This hotel was 1 block from the subway station and we felt safe walking from there at night since it was a very short walk. Over all, It was good and would stay again.

« Nice and quiet hotel »

I slept 3 nights for the first time in this hotel. I find the all experience amazing. The rooms and batherooms are very clean and renovated. Room service comes everyday, unless you request them not to. Accomodation includes complimentary breakfast. They have 2 rooms where you can sit and have breakfast. The registrar office staff are very nice people and very polite. The wi-fi internet works very good and smooth in all hotel. Hotel is positioned very close to the NYC . You can go by car in 10 min or subway F is only 2 minutes walking from hotel.

    5
    « Great affordable hotel »

The services are very good. Hotel is very close to NYC, and the subway F is just 2 minutes walking. The breakfast is good and they have 2 rooms where you can eat. The registrar office staff were very nice and polite. Rooms and bathrooms are very clean and room service is there all the time.

    « Comfortable hotel »

The BW Plaza hotel is a nice and comfortable hotel. It is situated outside of Manhattan, but that's no issue. Subway is not even 5 minutes walking and takes you in 15min to all highlights on Manhattan. The staff is very friendly and helpfull, breakfast was busy but you can take it up to the room aswell so you don't have to wait that long in line for an available table. Overall a good experience for our citytrip. We will recommend this hotel for sure.

    5
« Good location, perfect conditions »

Perfect location as subway station are in close walking distant, very helpful staff, very good breakfast. The bill for staying a bit confusing, so many components of final price. First night expensive, all others in good price, so the longer, the cheaper.

    4
« Nice hotel in so so area »

This is a very nice and affordable hotel. The room was a good size, clean, a very comfy bed.and the breakfast was decent- exactly what you expect at this level of best western. The breakfast room was small but there was another room available just a few steps away. The neighborhood was not that nice - warehouses and kind of run down but work is being done all around. It is very close to the subway, there were people around even kind of late and just three stops from the city. Also easy to get to LGA by subway and bus.

  • 4
« Good for the money »

This hotel is located near both bus and metro stops. It is a quick ride into Manhattan. The neighborhood is nice and quiet. We did not encounter any problems. The rooms are a bit small, but they are clean and comfortable. They serve breakfast in the mornings, which consists of eggs, sausage, east/bagels/doughnuts, and juice. The staff was nice and we did not have any problems. The cost was nice. It is far cheeper than staying in Manhattan.

    5
    « excellent quality/price »

Even though this hotel is not in Manhattan, it is of very easy access from there - only three subway stations away from manhattan center. Not too much outside noise. Excellent conditions, very clean. Complete breakfast and very nice and helpful staff.

    5
    « great hotel »

This hotel is nothing fancy but its a good place to sleep. It is clean and has good beds. The rooms are small rooms but not unusual for NYC. Its close to the subway. The staff is wonderful. They are friendly and helpful.

    4
« Decent hotel at a good price in a conveniient location »

This hotel is a short walk to the subway and only 3 stops to the Rockefeller Center. Price is excellent by New York standards with helpful staff and a good breakfast. We stayed there 4 nights in October and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. There are no decent restaurants in the immediate area. One restaurant will send a shuttle around to pick you up.

    4
« More than acceptable for the price »

Good location 10 minutes from NYC by subway (station 1 block away). Room was nice and personnel friendly. My only complaint is that the airconditioning/heating equipment is window type and next to the bed so when it starts up is noisy. If you have light sleep this could be a problem.

    4
« Good value and close to subway »

If you don't mind being out of the "hub" of NYC I recommend this hotel. It was less than half the price of hotels in the middle of things, the short commute on the subway was worth the savings. The staff was very helpful and very friendly.

    4
« Great Location and Great Prices »

To be honest I initially booked an apartment through AirBnb but I had to cancel it and find a hotel right away after a terrible night with no sleep. This hotel came to the rescue and I got more value for my money compared to AirBnb, prices in NY as so high and it is not worth it to stay in Manhattan because all the noise and the poor quality of life in there, at least this is what I think.

    4
« Good to visit Manhattan »

Choiced to pass an evening in NYC before leaving. Ideal place to visit Manhattan and to leave from La Guardia Airport (the morning only 15 minutes by car ). Underground (line F for Manhattan) is at 5 minutes walking. The sink was blocked.

« Great place to stay! »

We stayed at the best western for four nights for my dads 50th and birthday, and we were all very impressed! Staff were very helpful upon check in. Was not expecting free breakfast but when we arrived we were told we had this included. Breakfast was good and there was a fair amount of variety to pick from. Our room was cleaned every day, sheets were changed and fresh towels were provided everyday. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was great! The hotel is about a 3 minute walk from the subway where you can purchase a weekly subway pass for 30 dollars. It's only two stops into Manhattan which took about 8 minutes. Can also use the subway to the airport which we also did. Overall a great hotel and would recommend!

    5
« Excellent place to stay in New York »

Decided on this hotel for our 3 night stay in NY after a lot of research on the net, and we were really happy with our decision. Location is key, not too far from JFK, about 50 dollars by taxi and even more convenient if you don't have luggage and can take a train. Its about a 3 to 5 min walk to the F train metro stop and about 5 stops to times square. There are grocery stores and eateries around the hotel. Rooms are well furnished, and well maintained. Very comfortable beds and nice showers. We were on the 9th and 10th floors and the rooms had views of the city skyline. Breakfast is included and is a good spread. Quality of food is good. Best of all, the service is very good. All staff are helpful. Special mention to Mani and Yamira at the front desk who agreed to let us keep our luggage at the lobby, when it was a problem for us to take it with us. This is the kind of service that really makes your trip memorable.

    « great location »

hotel is a 3 minutes walk from subway ,easy fast and cheap to get here from to la guardia airport by public transport. a nice thing to do is to get off at Roosevelt Island subway station (one stop over on f line) and take the Roosevelt island aerial tram to manhattan.

    4
« Very nice hotel, close to metro »

Nice hotel, clean room, very helpful stuff, close to metro station (4 min). Few tables for breakfast, not dangerous but downgraded surrounding area, a bit expensive. Overall, nice experience, would choose it again..

    5
« great location for NYC trip »

subway very close to hotel, super comfortable bed, very helpful staff, great value for money, breakfast is a little on the sad side (some chocolate spread or rashers would have been nice) and the breakfast rooms are always crowded, but it's a small price to pay.

    3
    « Comfort in LIC »

A nice little place, convenient to subways that are a few short stops from major attractions in Manhattan. The breakfast works out well, and the room, though a bit tight, is comfortable and the place is clean. Off-street parking offered as an option, though street parking, with some effort, can be found.

    4
« Very close to Manhattan »

Just two subway stops from Manhattan this hotel is a convenient place to stay and cheaper than Manhattan hotels. Our room was large with view to the skyline. The bed was very good. The bathroom was clean, nice and worked well. The internet was quite fast and easy to use. The main problem was a far too small breakfast room. Staff was very helpfull.

    3
« Good location and cheap for NY »

We stayed here for the second time, and it is still ok. There is room for improvement, but all in all it is a decent hotel for the price. We are BW platinum members and had booked the hotel 6 months in advance. On the reservation we had written that we wanted a room on one of the top floors with a Manhattan view. When we arrived we got a room on the 4th floor and we could just see the top of the Empire State Building. That's really lousy service to guests who have stayed here before and who are platinum members. We're not sure we'll be coming back on our next NY-visit. The rooms are quite small and there is only one chair, so one of us had to sit on the bed. Breakfast is really not good. Scrambled eggs cooked in a plastic bag in the microwave, juice that isn't really juice, donuts, bagels, flat turkey sausages. Luckily there was fresh fruit. In general the staff was helpful - just not in helping us getting the room we wanted.

    5
    « Location location location! »

Great stay! Location location location. Was a great hotel near Mahattan, just a sort 5 min walk then 10 minute subway into Manhattan- just one train all the way to times square. Same as you would expect from a Best Western- great customer service and clean, comfortable rooms. Great stay!

« Nice stay for a fare price »

Nice hotel with friendly and very helpful staff. Special thanks to Stephanie ! Clean rooms and good beds. Breakfast included. Metro station at walking distance . Only 10 minutes to Manhattan. Looking forward to come again. We will advise this hotel to our friends.

« Nice Place - Close to the Subway! »

We stayed here for two nights while in town to see a play. The staff was very helpful and attentive and the room was very nice. Each morning, their is a complimentary breakfast in the loft overlooking the lobby. Pretty good selection but never enough tables for everyone who wishes one. You may need to take your food to your room instead. It's located in the shadow of the Queensboro Bridge and is about a block from the subway. We were easily able to get into the city with no trouble at all. The neighborhood in which it sits doesn't really have any restaurants or nightspots - you'll have to go into the city for that.

« Good value place to stay »

Came to NYC for a four day vacation, sight seeing, dining, etc. found this Hotel to be a good value, and easy to access subway for transit to any destinations we chose to venture out to. The hotel was clean, friendly staff, complimentary breakfast, wifi worked well, room was nice, bathroom modern with great shower! The neighborhood is mostly automotive repair shops, and a bit industrial looking, but we did find a nice Ramon noodle place several blocks away, tasty breakfast bagel place two doors down, and a good Spanish style lunch and dinner spot just around the corner serving traditional rice and beans, roasted chicken, lobster and clams, and flan, cheese cake, and other goodies for dessert. Dinner for three plus dessert came to only $31.00! This was a pleasurable stay for us, and the hotel cost was much more reasonable than any of the down town Manhattan hotels. We could be down town in 15 min from this location. From here, we traveled to the Brooklyn Zoo, NY Aquarium, Coney Island, 9-11 Memorial, China Town, Central Park, Comicon at Javits convention center. Our room had a nice view of the Manhattan bridge and city all lit up at night. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to save some money on accommodations.

« Good Selection For Pricey New York »

Best Western Plaza is good selection for New York.Everyone knows that Hotel prices in New York is very high especially for Manhattan Island.Hotel is very good ,receptions staff is super and very helpful. If you have a car There is a parking lot behind the hotel but you need to pay this service. It looks a little bit tiny but I dont know is there more space .or us we only parked our car only for 3 hours and receptions gave us this without charge.Checkin is fast ,but reception requested from me a credit card to provision card for deposit purposes. My rooms was quite good ,very clean and spacious. The bed was very comfortable.Bathrooms was also very good ,there are soap ,shampou and towels.Shower was good condition and there was no problem with hot water.Wifi was working and there was no weak signal problem.Elvetor was working and there was no problem. For hotel location I can't say same thing. For eating and shopping there are no alot of option. You can find subway very near the hotel and a grocery. But this is not a problem for me.For transportation subway station queensbridge is very near for QueensBro you need to walk far ,But dont think not possible.I think it takes 20 minute from Queensbro. For Manhattan and JFK Airport it's in good location. From negative point there was a some little problems related with hotel. But these was not problem for me.Especially for breakfast you need to go very early to find a seat. The another problem there was no luggage storage and reception takes 1 $ for every piece of luggage.Overall is very good for me.

« Lovely hotel and great staff »

This was a great hotel only 3 stops to time square...The subway was about 2 mins walk away from hotel! Wifi was really good, breakfast was an added bonus, there are 2 breakfast rooms which r small but we always managed to get a seat! Reception staff very helpful especially Stephanie! The neighbourhood is a bit run down but we always felt safe....The rooms have ironing facilities and a safety deposit box which was really good....rooms bigger than we imagine and we had a view of the empire state building!

« An excellent alternative to staying in Manhattan! »

This hotel is located in Queens in a neighborhood that, at first glance, may not be very inviting but is only a few blocks from the Queens Plaza area where new apartments are under construction, and it appears that improvements are on the way. The F-train subway station, two short blocks away, provides easy transportation to Manhattan, so all the charms of New York are readily accessible. Despite appearances, we never felt nervous walking around, regardless of the time. The hotel itself is attractive and well furnished, and we had a wonderful view of the Manhattan skyline. We were very comfortable, the service was attentive and the staff very responsive to guest needs. When we reported a minor plumbing problem in the bathroom, it was fixed immediately. Internet service is excellent and the selection of TV channels is acceptable. The breakfast rooms (main room and auxiliary) are too small to service the guests who seem to somehow all want to eat at the same time, but the staff manages quite well and clean-up and turn-over for tables is excellent. We very much enjoyed the hot breakfast options provided. The hotel seemed to be filled with Europeans of many nationalities, and it is obvious that somehow ?the word? has gotten out that staying in Long Island City and commuting across the river is an excellent way to experience Manhattan without breaking the budget!

« Friendly New York Hotel »

If your are looking for a great value with good service and helpful, friendly staff, the Plaza Hotel, Long Island City is the place for you in New York. The location is in the middle of it all but you are not paying the really high price you would expect for a very nice comfortable room. All this with staff who are attentive and helpful in a city know for just the opposite.
