On our Thanksgiving week trip to Death Valley we stayed one night at BW Plus Frontier Motel, and everything was OK! They have the friendliest employees, great breakfast, and most of all - SUPERB Customer Service! They resolved our reservation issue with professionalism!

    « Getting Better »

The Frontier has been good for years...the new remodel simply makes it even better. Reservation process was easy, got the room we like (south side) with a view...room and beds comfortable, convenient breakfast! We'll be coming back.

« Fantastic gem in Lone Pine »

This motel is the best in Lone Pine. Clean updated rooms, best breakfast offerings, comfortable surroundings, and reasonable price. Help is friendly and everything works like it should. I've stayed three other times and each time the service and accommodations have been five star.

« Quiet, Comfortable and Great Location »

If you're in the mood to see Mount Whitney and explore the Alabama Hills, this location is just blocks away from the road leading to them. Single-story motel, with parking in front of the room, they serve a very decent hot breakfast and some very good coffee. All of the employees were polite, helpful and smiling. The shower was small, but I'm not complaining!

    « Excellent stop »

This was a very nice property that was well-maintained and managed. The place was not new but was cared for with love. The room and bathroom were large. The bed and pillows were good aand room very quiet. There was an excellent view of Mt. Whitney from the parking lot. The breakfast was good.

    « Manager Missing »

We booked a room for late arrival, called to inform the hotel that we would be later than expected and the front desk responded with, " you do not have a reservation here", I gave them the confirmation number from the Best Western website and still they could not locate the reservation! I asked now what can I do, she responds with I will reserve you a room for you, no problem, GREAT!!! Not so fast, we arrived and started the registration and were informed that we had to pay for two rooms, what, why? Desk clerk responded with you had a reservation and then made a second one, I told her that she stated that there was no reservation in her system and then created one for us, what a complete cluster "UCK", after several attempts on the phone talking with the web site reps, multiple transfers etc., no help!! The manager that was supposed to be on location could not be reached until the next day. I paid for both to get some sleep and tried again in the morning same results, not so inexpensive after all!!!! And the manager was finally reached by phone but I felt she could not be bothered and refused to come in. I did finally get the money credited back but it took multiple calls, several explanations and several weeks, NOT A GOOD EXPERIANCE. The room was adequate, bathroom had mold and multiple layers of caulking to attempt to stop a leak, heating system was very noisy and worked poorly. I would not recommend this place for the above reasons and several others, what a shame to spoil such a great location.

« Great and quiet place to stay before visiting Death Valley »

We were two couples of friends staying in a family room, very good price, very large room, spacious, very clean, A/C, nice large window, coffee maker, internet, parking place, quiet place and very kind welcome people. We lost a mobile wire in the room and they sent it to us to another place. Swimming pool not too large but lovely. Very nice place to start visiting Death Valley. Breakfast should be a little more elaborated for this kind of hotel. Great restaurants in Lone Pine especially "Season's", a little pricey but quality was present.

    « Romantic getaway »

This is the second time staying at this hotel and it won't be our last ....... The only complaint I would have about this place is hearing the traffic pass through the town other than that this is a very nice place to stay......staff is very humble and helpful room is very clean, the bed and pillows are super comfortable and the view is breathtaking..... cannot wait for our next mini vacation.....

    5
« Nice Place on the edge of town »

Came in late on a Monday eve...almost sold out. "Patricia" was on duty, was welcoming and professional. Nice after being on the road. Good price for the room, and directions TO the room! Layout is that you can drive up and park right outside your room (well, I LIKE that). VERY clean room and quiet, even tho next to 395. Breakfast was included which was appreciated. Would make it a stop again...and probably will.

« Best value in our trip »

$89.95 room rate was the best value we had during our road trip. Very comfy king bed in well appointed room, laundry to do a weeks worth of washing cost $3.50, reception friendly and helpful, breakfast included was a bonus. Pool was closed due to the time of year but looked good Would definitely recommend it to travellers

    « Wow what a great surprise! »

Staff was super friendly and made us feel welcome and important. Room was very spacious and immaculate. Coffee maker had a side by side cup set up so you could make 2 separate cups at once which was nice. There was also a microwave and refrigerator in the room. Shower had a rotating shower head and a spa tub. Bathroom are had two sinks, one outside of the bathroom and one inside which made it nice for two people getting ready in the morning. The bed was comfortable. It was a quiet motel even though there were many cars in the parking lot. Breakfast was top notch, pancake maker, homefries, bacon, sausage, eggs, along with all the more common fare for free breakfast. We were really happily surprised with our choice and will certainly stay again.

    « A Pleasant Stay »

On the edge of the desert, just outside the tiny burg of Lone Pine, this motel offers clean and comfortable rooms with friendly service. We've stayed here before. Both times, we were unable to use the wi-fi, which didn't seem to work in the room (though it did in the breakfast area). If this matters to you, you might inquire at the front desk when checking in.

    5
    « Lone PIne Getaway »

This property is pet friendly with a one time pet charge not daily, large pet area behind facility. Rooms are large and clean and breakfast is very good. Near some great scenery. The Alabama Hills are nearby. Many other day trip destinations to choose from this location.

« Budget accommodation without the budget price »

First thing I notices was the really strange smell. Still not sure what it was but perhaps their bulk cleaning products. Room was clean although extremely small. Bathroom a good size. The breakfast was great. Buffet with the usual fare. Would not stay more than 1 night, but fine for a quick over nighter .

    4
    « Clean, spacious, sometimes-surly staff »

In town for the western film festival, we chose to stay about a half-mile out of town in this Best Western motel. The room was surprisingly spacious and mostly updated; enough parking, and within view and hearing range of a happy and vocal herd of cows, which made for quite a western experience. The complimentary breakfast had plenty to choose from, and the staff in the breakfast area was cheerful and eager to help. The staff in the evening seemed less friendly and helpful--perhaps it was just the stress of the festival, but they were markedly different than the morning group. On Saturday night the power went out completely, and the young woman staffing at the desk couldn't have been more brusque and unhelpful. Perhaps she was distracted by the toddler she had with her, and it wasn't like we were expecting her to magically put the power back on, but her attitude seemed to be that it was our fault it was out in the first place. Overall good value for the money, and conveniently located for downtown, the visitor's center, and just a short trip to Manzanar.

« what a great place to stay! »

the management and all the staff are wonderful. our room was neat clean and very comfortable, you cannot do any better then staying at the best western lone pine ca. close to good places to eat the film museum and the views are something to see.

« 2 nights stay, comfortable and clean »

Stayed here for two nights in September. Friendly welcome at reception and a numbered parking space outside the room. It does look like a motel, but the rooms are better than first impressions suggest. Good breakfast with pancake machine. Only one we encountered on the whole holiday. 15 minutes brisk walk into town, poorly lit of a night so take care when coming back when dark. Would stay here again if in Lone Pine.

    4
    « Pretty good. »

Stayed here on a business trip. Very comfortable place. Beds good. Breakfast good. Staff very friendly. Would recommend this place if passing through the town. They do have a fitness center also. The pool is outdoors though.

« Best in Lone Pine »

Clean, quiet rooms; good breakfast; friendly staff. Typical old Best Western motel from the 70's. The back section has only one way in/out so you have to make a tight three-point turn to leave. There is also no place to park while checking in except on the street.

« Should not be a Best Western Plus »

Very disappointing for a Best Western Plus. One night stay. When we called reservations and asked the difference between a King and King Deluxe room, we were told only the Deluxe King at that location had refrigerators (not true) so we upgraded. Large, clean room, but the refrigerator and bathroom fan were too loud to leave on and one of two electrical outlets in the vanity area was non-functional. We did fill out a card about the room and mentioned to the desk person on checkout about the problems, but she didn't seem to care much.

    5
    « Very Nice »

Very nice hotel. Quiet even close to busy Hwy. Very Friendly Staff. Full Breakfast and Ample Parking. Easy drive, 1/2 mile to great restaurants in Lone Pine. Will stay there again. Normally stay in Bishop, however glad all hotels were sold out in Bishop. Introduced to a better BW in Lone Pine.

    4
    « Great value for your $ »

Visited the hotel with 2 children. Lrg rooms. Clean. Well mainteined. Excellent full breakfast. Coffee kit. Ref and microwave in rooms. Nrxt to room free parking. Right at the enterance to death valley on the way to Vegas.

« Room ok, breakfast unreachable. »

A fairly large room, confortable, and a tiny bathroom rather well maintained with one exception : the air conditioning unit.So noisy that it would be impossible to sleep with that unit on. For us, we managed as we were there in September and the temperature was already easing off but I cannot imagine how it is during summer months. Breakfast is included in the room price but the breakfast room is far too small and we never could get a table. We gave up and went "downtown" for a good and confortable breakfast (at our expense, of course).

    4
« Still very good, but.... »

I've stayed at this motel 3 times in the past 3 years, each time for between one and two weeks, so as I keep coming back, I obviously think it's OK - but the only other similar motel is marginally more expensive, so competition at a similar quality end is limited. There are quite a few other motels in Lone Pine, but they are lower budget and less attractive ( in my opinion). This year my stay was OK, same good free breakfast, (perhaps slightly better than last time with the introduction of rather tasty sausages in the hot food section!), same friendly and efficient staff, but there were a few niggles which took the edge of my stay. Firstly the quality of the TV reception was poor, a friend who stayed at the Comfort Inn down the road said the reception there was much better. Looking behind the TV -while not being an expert - I think they were using the wrong type of connections between the cable box and the TV to get the best quality picture. Secondly, although advertising improved wi-fi, while it may have been faster, it was only faster when it worked. On several occasions it didn't - which was extremely frustrating, other guests reported similar problems. Thirdly, I stayed for 9 nights, my sheets were not changed during the stay. While I could (and should) perhaps have asked for them to be changed, the fact that they weren't changed suggests a lack of quality control on the housekeeping side. Finally, as I said I've been staying there for the last 3 years, although still very clean and well cared for, the rooms are not quite as pristine as they were 3 years ago. Having said the above, the criticism are minor and the motel is still a good one, however for the price (over $130 a nigh including tax), I feel they could improve. As for the price, I think it is high - I paid between $80 and $90 for similar quality motels at other places during my holiday, but the high price no doubt reflects the remote location and they have a captive market.

    « The Frontier Hotel »

I stay here often and I am always very satisfied with my room and quality of service I receive. This is really a nice place to stay. I enjoy the naming of the various suites after movie stars. The rooms are large and usually have a comfortable chair of sofa where you can relax, read or get some work done. This is a nice place.

    4
    « Lovely property »

I would have given this a 5 but our room didn't have a hair dryer. I expected extras since this is a plus motel. The room was nice and clean. We enjoyed walking around their large property. There is a nice grassy area with tables and chairs. People were sitting outside enjoying the pleasant evening and mountain view. Breakfast was very good with a wide selection of food. Breakfast attendant quickly replaced items if they ran out. It's at edge of town along highway. Our room was quiet.

    2
    « Basic 2 queen bed room »

It was a basic room, with clean linens. I was unhappy with the stained carpets and drapes. The light in the bathroom strobed all night. The custodian did come in the next day and change the bulb. The toilet was loose and rocked when you sat down. I did not mention this when the custodian changed the light because I did not want to have plumbing work done while we occupied the room. I did notify the desk of the problem upon checking out. So, while the room was quiet, the breakfast was great and the staff were helpful, I expected a higher level of repair and cleanliness in a room at this price point. The hotel responded to me that those issues would be addressed. I hope so.

    « Good choice »

We had the John Wayne room and it was huge!! Great view of Mt Whitney right from our room. Our room was on the end near the highway but we were not bothered by noise from the highway. We stayed here 3 nights because we were hiking Mt Whitney. We had lots of space in our room for our luggage, cooler and packs. This room had a living room, 2 queen beds, microwave, 2 refrigerators, 4 large windows and 3 AC units. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. The free breakfast was good and filling. The pool was chilly and no hot tub. A hot tub after Whitney sure would have felt nice. Town and most of the restaurants were about 6 blocks away. I would recommend this place and would stay here again.

    « Great Night's Sleep »

We stayed one night at the Best Western Frontier on our way to Death Valley NP. It's located on Hwy. 395 a few blocks south of Lone Pine's small main drag. We asked for a room near the rear to minimize road noise and found the room reasonably quiet. We had the AC on for awhile and it worked great. The room was clean, roomy enough and comfortable. The staff was friendly and the breakfast was more than adequate for our needs, with cereals, bread, fruit, pancakes, bacon, eggs & potatoes. The views of the Mt. Whitney crest are outstanding. Our stay was brief, but we enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return.

« Typical motel with good services »

During our round trip along the west coast we crossed the Rocky Mountains on the way to Death Valley and stopped in Lone Pine for one night. The Best Western Motel is a typical motel directly next to the main street through Lone Pine at the south exit of the city. The motel itself has about 30-40 rooms - all with access from the parking area. So each room has its own parking lot in front of the room. The room itself is small but big enough for a couple and two suitcases. It is equipped with a double bed, a microwave and a TV. The bathroom has a shower and a toilet and is big enough. During our stay it was really quiet and we had a good stay. North of the hotel you can find a gas station and a few supermarkets as well as some fast food restaurants.

« This by far the BEST - Best Western Plus »

We stayed here two years ago and this time the Motel has been upgrades to a PLUS which is by far the nicest BW+ we have stayed in.. Don't forget to head to the hills to the west and see where all the movies have been filmed. Its spectacular. Coming and going from Canada when on the 395 this is the place to stay..

« Very Nice Place Clean and Friendly »

Stopped for one night on our way North, Dog Friendly Best Western in a small town Enjoyed our stay and would stay again if passing thru. Good Breakfast very comfortable eating area good selection, great tasting coffee, clean comfy room, nice area for people and dogs, did not use the swimming pool but looked very inviting, overall very pleased

« Friendly, comfy, clean and reasonably priced... »

After an amazing but very long drive from Yosemite Valley we were so pleased to check in here. The Receptionist was very welcoming and helpful and our room was lovely and modern. We were up at 5am to have an early breakfast before our drive across Death Valley to Las Vegas and despite the early hour it was delicious with a great selection on offer and one of very few hotels that offered a breakfast inclusive room rate during our tour of the California, Nevada and Arizona. Our children loved their late evening dip in the pool which they had to themselves on the night we stayed in mid-August and we enjoyed the amazing views of Mt Witney and the lovely atmosphere of Lone Pine. All in all a good motel for any type of traveller and a great little town, top marks! :-)

we stay there every year. we are tour guides for the Lone Pine Film Festival. Best Western is our second home. we look forward every year, at least two or three times a year staying at the Best Western.

« Good Motel in a Good Location »

The motel is located on the edge of Lone Pine and is in excellent location for either traveling through Death Valley to Las Vegas or coming from Las Vegas through Death Valley. The motel is a classic roadside motel with good sized rooms with good TV and Wi-Fi facilities. The bathroom was ample sized although the toilet seemed to be in an illogical position but I guess that is how they built the room. The breakfast was a standard motel breakfast and the staff were pleasant and helpful and the motel has great views of the mountains. The one negative was that there is literally nothing but 10 feet of concrete between the motel and the highway, I had an end room and you could clearly hear cars and trucks passing at speed ten feet from your room. This didn´t both me as I am a good sleeper but if you are easily disturbed by noise, request a room deep into the motel complex to minimize the noise

    2
    « Poor Value »

This is a Best Western Plus and I am a Platinum Member. Nevertheless I paid $162 on a Thursday for what is more like a plain Best Western and was not allowed a Senior discount. The motel looked half full that night and there were vacancies. Furthermore, the advertised heated pool was very cold and certainly not heated. Other guests also found it uncomfortable. I also was invited to contribute 'gratuities' to cleaning and breakfast serving staff. I would have thought paying that amount of money management could afford to pay their staff properly.

    5
« Excellent stay in beautiful surroundings »

We stayed at this hotel on our trip to Yosemite National Park from LasVegas. The hotel was comfortable, quiet and clean and the staff polite and cheerful after our long journey. We eat at the lone pine smokehouse which was a simple eatery with good simple food and excellent service. But it was late when we arrived so be prepared for most places to be closed earlier than normal.

    5
    « Always Good »

I live in Reno and my boyfriend lives in San Diego so we meet in at the Best Western in Lone Pine, CA at least once a month.I bring my dog. They have a dog area. The rooms with little patios let you sit out in the back at night and look at the bazillion stars and in the morning you can sit out there and enjoy the view of the mountains and drink your coffee. There is great hiking in the area The rooms are clean and the beds comfy! The breakfast is good. We always enjoy our stay!!!!!

    5
    « Perfect little property..... »

After 2 nights in Las Vegas being robbed blind at The Bellagio this place was the perfect antidote. Our king room was spacious, well equipped, very clean and far less expensive!! There is a very adequate breakfast included, with bacon strips, sausages, egg, pancakes, oatmeal, fruit juices, toast and fresh fruit, plus 24 hour coffee. There's a lovely pool, with patio and loungers, a well tended lawn out front with tables and chairs, and fabulous views over Mount Whitney and the rest of the Sierra Nevada range. The staff are courteous, friendly and helpful, which counts for a lot. This is a lovely little town, and we are pleased we stopped here for two nights on our road trip.

    « Very Nice Hotel »

This is the type of hotel you would like to stay in after a long drive thru' Death Valley. Very well maintained and kept clean. The rooms are cozy and clean and have all basic amenities like Fridge, Microwave etc. The bathroom in our room was a bit small for our liking. they provide you parking just outside your room, so that helped us as we didn't have to move any luggage inside the room and kept it inside the car itself. Breakfast options were standard as well. One more great thing about this hotel is the view from the outside sitting area, we got some really good picture from that setting.

    5
« Great room in small town »

We usually stay at another hotel in Lone Pine, but due to availability, we had to stay in the Best Western. A pleasant surprise, for a small town like this we thought it to be a very clean, quiet, large room. Everything we normally find in Best Western's in larger cities was here, including an over-size bathroom that was a great change from the normal tiny spaces. Comfortable bed, table and two chairs for seating, all in all, a good place to consider in Lone Pine.

    4
« Loved the experience. Old classic movie days with views of Mt Whitney. »

Old classic movie films were shot here. Everywhere you look from Mt Whitney to fields and streams. Right out of a John Wayne movie. Our room was very nice and comfortable. Large bath and tub, soft towels. Except for breakfast bring your own food, very little in tiny town to eat.

    4
    « Lone Pine »

Old motel nicely redecorated and located. Good staff and rooms quite comfortable at reasonable price. Have stayed here dozens of times. Very nice outdoor sitting area with fine view of Sierra's including Mt. Whitney. Only issue was that staff allowed a tour bus to park immediately in front of sitting area and entirely blocked the lovely view. Bad idea.

    5
    « Great stop »

After visiting Death Valley the one thing that was wanted was a good air conditioned room, & it had one. The room had 2 beds, was large & clean. There was also a swimming pool which was certainly a plus. The breakfast was also very good with a great variety of choices.

    5
« Backpackers treat at the end of the JMT »

Coming off 14 days backpacking the John Muir Trail (jmt) I was looking for a simple room to shower and get a good nights rest. Turns out this Saturday night every hotel was booked and I got the last room at this terrific hotel. This oversized room rivaled those at any fancy hotel. The detail the staff went to to ensure nothing was overlooked was overwhelming. The room had two desks, a full couch, chairs, microwave, refrigerator, huge Jacuzzi/shower, king bed with 5 pillows ,and plenty of towels. It was quiet, comfortable and there was plenty of hot water. The breakfast options were many and were quite good. The hotel staff, particularly Patricia, were friendly, helpful, and professional. This was indeed a treat at the end of a tough 2 weeks.

    5
    « A Beautiful View »

This property is very well kept and clean. The location of the Hotel gives every guest a spectacular view of Mt. Whitney and the Southern Sierra Nevada Range which is amazing and beautiful any time of the year. The rooms are very clean. The breakfast provided was fresh and lots of choices to choose from. The staff is also very friendly and accommodating should you have a problem or are just looking for a good restaurant to eat at, or need to find something.

    4
    « Saisfactory Stop Off »

We stopped here overnight on a drive from Yosemite to Las Vegas. While a little older in decor everything was clean and well kept - except the air conditioner which sounded like a plane taking off .. all night long. Happy with everything and else and the included breakfast was OK.

    4
    « What a setting »

This is an old hotel, for a two-night stay. The rooms have been partially redone with, surprisingly, a jacuzzi in the bathroom. There is a revolving shower head with a somewhat puny spray, and as a result, the water pressure is uneven. The towels were excellent. The breakfast was fair, helped only by the pancake maker. The staff is very pleasant and helpful and the location is excellent.

    5
« nice place to stay »

our room was clean and comfortable ,very very quiet at night ,very good service , receptionist very helpful . parking is just in front of your room , will come again to this place again on our next trip . will recommend to anyone .

« Best Western Plus Lone Pine, CA. »

Lone Pine is a small town, so choice of hotels is limited. This hotel has been remodeled, the rooms are very nice, the service and staff are great, and the included breakfast is a definite plus. I have stayed here once before, and will definitely stay here again when I am in the area.

    5
    « a wonderful place! »

We called these folks just hours before arriving in Lone Pine to see if they had a room. We took their last room which happened to be a room designed for those with disabilities. When we arrived at 11 pm, the front desk was manned, and they were expecting us. I was told the front desk has someone there 24/7, which is cool. The room was fantastic. Super clean and about the biggest motel room I was ever in. The King size bed was one of the most comfortable beds my wife and I had ever slept in. This particular room had a huge "whirlpool" tub (which we did not use). There is a room fridge. I would expect the standard room to be smaller. The property itself is older, but very well kept and maintained. Others have commented on the breakfast buffet, which I thought was good, but not excellent. The sausages were great, the bacon, not so much. Pancake machine was really cool and quick to use. Lots of choices on bread and cereal and juices. I highly recommend this place if you need lodging in Lone Pine.

    3
« Not what I would call "Best" Western »

As I said, the rooms could be larger. I also thought that a Best Western Plus have a cook who makes eggs to your liking. I like that fact that the parking places are numbered (to your room). And the refrigerator and microwave is nice. The wi-fi is fast.

    4
    « Really Comfortable Motel »

Broke our journey between Vegas and Yosemite here and we were very pleasantly surprised at the all-round quality of the place. Rooms were clean, comfortable and spaceous with good facilities. Staff were friendly and helpful and even the breakfast was good - the kids loved the automatic pancake machine! All-in-all a pretty good place .

« Yippee Ky Yay, weary travelers! »

The BW Plus Frontier motel in Lone Pine, CA was a complete and utter delight! I was there in Lone Pine to experience the Western Movie history and culture. The motel is decorated perfectly. It is totally updated and modern in every way and yet still possesses the old motor court design and feel of the old days of Route 66. Nostalgia with all the modern perks! Cant wait to go back. We loved Lone Pine and the Frontier! Alabama Hills, Mt. Whitney, Manzanar NHS and Death Valley!

« hotel in Lone Pine, CA »

Very clean and easy access to Lone Pine downtown. Great location if you are planning on hiking Mt Whitney. I would definitely recommend this hotel again. The breakfast options were good but needed to have better selection of hot items available. It was a very quiet hotel and this was welcomed after hiking for 18 hours up on the mountain the previous day.

The rooms were pretty clean rooms, Very comfortable beds. Pool and outdoor tables were nice. Excellent view of Mount Whitney. Friendly staff. Breakfast was just average. Waited for food to be refilled and finally just left with a coffee...

    « One night stopover »

We had the corner room - so no window - but beds huge, comfy and room was super big. Pool was lovely and refreshing and the scenery was staggering. The breakfast was buffet style - and was of a high standard. Cook your own waffles !!

« Good and not good »

We stayed in Rm 125. Nice and cool in the summer because of it's particular location. Minimal amenities but o.k. clean. Buffet breakfast starts early, which is helpful. Terrible sind and faucet arrangement. Frog doesn't have a freezer section.

    « BW in Lone Pine = A+++ »

My expectations were pretty low when I booked one of the few motels in Lone Pine, CA. I've never stayed at a Motel and honestly, I didn't hold the highest opinion of them. SO NOT the case with this Motel. The property was lovely and very homey. The staff were incredibly accommodating, sweet and helpful. My room was spacious, clean and that goes double for the bathroom. Every amenity I could need in my room I had and it didn't cost me extra. If you're gonna rough it in the outdoors in Lone Pine or nearby, this is the place to stay.

« Ideal place to stay in Lone Pine »

We were in Lone Pine for two nights of our 10-day photo tour. This Best Western was a perfect place to operate out of. The room was large and comfortable. All the necessary amenities were available: refrigerator, microwave, flat screen TV, pool, ice machine, Internet in the rooms, hot breakfast (beginning at 5:00am), computers available and great air conditioning. The beds were comfortable and bathroom vanity ample. We would highly recommend the BW Frontier Motel to anyone passing through.

« Perfect stop off from Yosemite to Death Valley/Las Vegas -- But don't miss the Alabama Hills »

We stayed here one night after coming from Yosemite. The hotel is the perfect location if you want to drive through Death Valley and head to Las Vegas. The rooms are spotless, spacious and reasonably priced. It was actually the only place on our 10 day trip that we were able afford two adjoining rooms one for the kids and one for my husband and I. Rooms are huge! But don't just pass through Lone Pine. You must drive through the Alabama Hills. Incredible landscape. Not to be missed!

    « Hiking Mt Whitney »

I really loved the spacious rooms at this BW and that you drive up to your room. We had four women in one room with two queens and even with all our hiking gear there was plenty of room. The people that run this are first class and the breakfast plentiful. Also they will keep your excess luggage for $5 while you go up the mountain. Will definitely stay here again.

« Nice Place to Stay in Lone Pine »

The rooms are relatively large and clean. It's convenient to have two sinks, one in the bathroom and one in the vanity area. Staff is friendly, breakfast was good for a motel breakfast, and there are nice places to sit outside and enjoy the evening. This is right on Hwy 395, so we spent a few hours in the evening looking at the Eastern Sierras, watching bats fly overhead and trucks head up and down the highway. On the negative side, the style is 50's motor car hotel, where the cars park right up to the door, and the windows face the walkway next to the parking lot, so you will get some noise from cars and guests at night. Fortunately the air conditioner has an option to keep the fan on continuously so we were able to block out the noise at night and slept well. I also think it's a little pricey for a motel style room. But one of the nicer places to stay in Lone Pine.

    « Lush Views »

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The views from the pool toward Mount Witney are amazing. Fresh towels were available at the pool and the pool area was quiet and relaxing. The hotel has free wifi and the breakfast is tasty with a wide selection. The bathroom was fab, with a jacuzzi bath and turning shower head. Perfectly situated to visit Lone Pine and movie flat road and mount Witney trail. I would also recommend this hotel and a visit to the film museum.

    « Excellent »

I was very pleased, it was an awesome reprieve after a few days of hiking and tent camping. I would recommend it to anyone sho plans to stay in the area. It i svery close to Mount Whitney and Death Valley, and not far from Yosemite either.

« Nice Clean, quiet hotel with great breakfast »

We used this hotel for the night before and after our hike up Mt Whitney. We got a big room so we could easily sort out our gear, slept 6pm-midnight, hiked, and then came back and slept the next night after our hike. It is clean, AC works well, Great Lobby, and very helpful staff. the only issue was that the fan in the bathroom didnt work, there was a window. There were 4 switches in the bathroom but only one of them worked to turn the lights on and off. the shower was new and they had dispensers for conditioner, soap, and shampoo so you didnt have to mess around with tiny bubbles. They use modern key cards as room keys, and even to access the ice machine. the rooms are nicely decorated with images from western movies filmed in Lone Pine. Lone Pine is really proud of its film history. The staff in the lobby and cleaning staff is really helpful and friendly.

    « Enjoy your stay »

Made last minute reservations; Called Best Western direct and received AAA discount. Everything was great: evening and morning service desk staff, super clean room with everything, comfortable bed, microwave, frig, tv, internet access. Traveling alone felt very secure and safe. Pool and grounds was clean and very nice.

    « Comfortable Accommodation »

I do feel that the Best Western in Lone Pine is your 'best bet' for a short stopover or possibly a longer stay in Lone Pine - whether you are passing through from Death Valley/Vegas like we were or maybe staying longer to explore the local hills and mountains. The place is set out as a series of single floor apartments each with a front door and a parking space which was ideal for us. The hotel has a small outdoor pool surrounded by a green lawn with seating and lounging. The grounds were clean, well kept and tidy and it all looked lovely in the sunshine! We really liked the peace and tranquility of the place, especially with the fantastic mountains in the background! Check in was swift and friendly. The room is kind of standard USA 'motel' fare but much better than a comfort inn! The room had a nice big 32" TV with plenty of channels, a fridge, hair dryer, iron etc. The AC unit was rather dated and a bit noisy though. The bed was large and comfortable, the pillows were nice. The bathroom was small but clean if rather a bit old and dated which did make it look tired. Most importantly, we had a long, uninterrupted comfortable sleep which is all you want really! Free breakfast the next morning was adequate with a continental style of cereals, fruit, pancakes, a bit of bacon and coffee/juices. It was enough to keep us going as we began our drive onto Yosemite. Finally, location wise this hotel is excellent. It's a great place to stop if you are taking the drive to/from Vegas/San Francisco or are driving through Death Valley or on to Yosemite. Staying here allowed us more time to explore Death Valley as we drove through from Las Vegas and we were able to get up bright and early and take the shorter drive to Yosemite.

    « Great road trip »

Great hotel....good shower with twirling shower head. Quiet,clean...when you first drive up it is not impressive. But we had a great stay. Staff was very nice and attentive. Sent us to a wonderful local restaurant. Breakfast was very good. View of Mt. Whitney is breathtaking.

« Good for the night »

Clean nice two queen beds. Two sinks one outside the bathroom. Very basic amenities hanging in the shower. Nice size TV. Refrigerator is quiet and microwave. Air a bit noisy. Good lamps with plugs. Several pillows. Room for 2 large bags. Green area with tables in front by the pool to have a picnic or a drink. Breakfast had walnuts and pecans. Wished for waffles but they had this plastic like pancakes. The geological rock formations in the area are spectacular. I wish there were better signs. They are fixing the road so hopefully they will sign post for tourist in detail. Pizza Factory not that great. Stop in Fossil Falls on your way here. The loop to take is after Diaz Lake turn onto Lubken Canyon to Tuttle Creek to Whitney Portal, Amazing!!!! PS you can buy a HWY map in the lobby 5.95 worth it!

« Best Bet in Lone Pine »

After having stayed at other hotels in Lone Pine, the Best Western is my favorite by far. It's nothing fancy, but they do a great job with what they have. First, the rooms are clean and have everything you need (good TV, coffee, lots of room, etc.). The people are friendly and they keep hikers and outdoors folks in mind by starting their free breakfast at 5am. I stayed for 4 days to do multiple hikes and some bike rides, and the room was big enough to keep all my gear, and pack / repack for each day's adventure. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. Everything was done well. Clean, safe, and friendly.

« Lone Pin CA Best Western »

Excellent hotel for price and area. Very friendly and helpful staff, good breakfast, super clean and super comfy beds. I would highly recommend this to anyone. We were there to climb Mount Whitney and used this as our before and after stay. Even the pool was perfect and clean.

« Just what you would expect »

This was our first visit to an American Motel . A pleasant surprise really the room was clean and the bed was ok . I left a can of coke open overnight which attracted a load of ants from somewhere. I didn't see any signs of them anywhere in the room .Other than that the room was ok . There is a small pool outside for the guests to use this was clean with towels nearby to use as well . The pool was a welcome respite from the intense heat of July in Lone Pine . Breakfast is self service and was ok as well. Overall we would use this place again if travelling in the area .

« Excellent value for money »

Stayed for one night en route to Vegas. Two rooms. Very clean, spacious and delivered what we needed. Shower good m, air con efficient. Pool was lovely with a fab view of Mount Whitney. Breakfast was complimentary and was fine. Bit basic but everything there that you would expect.

    « Surprise out West »

This delightful hotel is western in appearance and Southern in hospitality. I found every worker to be pleasant and ready to help with any question about the area and any services. The room was extremely well kept and up to date. Would highly recommend this as your first choice in Lone Pine.

    « Nice »

Very clean.... Doesn't charge " extra" for pets.... Free breakfast, Wi-Fi and HBO.... Very much enjoyed this hotel. Everything is updated as well. Nice spacious bathrooms. Shower even has hand pump shampoo, conditioner and body wash, and they all smell great! Highly recommend??

« Nice, new, clean and convenient »

I stayed at the Lone Pine Best Western with friends, the nights before and after our day hike up Mt Whitney. The place was very clean and new, a large room with two beds, great air conditioning, nice spacious and clean bathroom. There's also a pool (closes at 9pm; we returned just in time for a short swim to calm our legs). Nice breakfast is included. The staff was very friendly and helpful; I could not ask for more.

    5
« The Best of Lone Pine »

This Best Western is far and away the best place to stop in Lone Pine, CA. Great view of Mt. Whitney, full breakfast, well equipped room, and reasonable rates kept the vacancy sign off. Make reservations! One of the best stays on our 10 day driving tour of California National Parks and northern CA coastline.

    4
    « A nice little stop over »

We stayed for only 1 night at this hotel. It was in great condition with the room being nice a big with 2 huge double Beds. There was a small pool and a small fitness room. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was also included which was ideal and the kids loved it. All in all we enjoyed our brief stay at Line Pine. There are some nice restaurants a walk away from the hotel in town. A nice small American town.

« Old west meets modern convenience »

This hotel is surprisingly nice for a sort of out there, old west town. We stayed here to hike Mt. Whitney and had a great time! Rooms are clean and very well appointed. Plenty of coffee in the room. A fridge, a microwave and an exceptionally nice bed! Our room had a Jacuzzi tub though we didn't use it. This hotel has a pool that is just about big enough to swim laps in. We didn't use that either because we were a bit too busy, but maybe next time. I would stay here again if I'm ever back in the lovely town of Lone Pine.

    5
« Simple, Clean with Mt. Whitney staring at you »

Great service, clean and comfortable rooms, adequate breakfast, pool. Staff are all helpful and pleasant. The views of Mt. Whitney at dawn or nightfall are great. It is of course on the highway, which makes for road noise outside. But the rooms are set back a bit and quiet

    5
« Best Place to stay in Lone Pine,CA »

Outstanding Motel, friendly staff, great location to tour the Alabama Hills where lots of movies were made. Good fishing in the area, and close to the Mt. Whitney trail. Good movie museum in town. Fun small town to walk around, careful in the fall as they have the Movie Museum Week and reservations are hard to get.

    4
« Perfect Place from which to Stage Whitney Ascent »

No frills but overall pretty quiet and clean. Pleasant staff. Good breakfast with a nice variety of patries, muffins, yogurt, juices, cereals, mini omelettes and make your own pancakes. We were here to acclimatize for Whitney and spend a day afterward recovering. Nice little pool to relieve the heat. Perfect place for our purposes.

    4
    « Whitney or Bust! »

After camping 3 nights at Big Pine Creek Campground, the Best Western was a nice and relaxing change. It was as I expected, the room was clean, bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well! And as a plus, there's a laundromat!!! Refrigerator and microwave in the room. Lone Pine is a sleepy little town, many restaurants close by 10. Included breakfast was ok, nothing to write home about except it was the right price.

    3
« Access to Death Valley »

This is a great location if you want to drive across Death Valley before the heat of the day sets in. Fun memorabilia - I had the Roy Rogers room. Good, clean basic accommodations. They start serving breakfast really early which is a great plus if you want to hit the road.

    5
    « Perfect Choice for Pre-Whitney Hikers »

We stayed at this hotel prior to our hike to Mount Whitney and it was great. Front desk staff helpful and kind - helped us sort out our group reservations with good humor. Rooms are clean and upgraded and comfortable. Wifi works great. Breakfast is substantial and perfect to start an epic hike and it is available at 5AM. Best spot in town.

    3
    « "Mt. View....is a stretch... »

This is a nice enough motel, kind of a throw back to motel travel in the 60's/70's. Parking is extremely close, tough to open your doors. I think we paid a little extra for a "Mt." view, but the view is across the highway, through some telephone wires... Breakfast included, again, nothing special. Best thing though: Front Desk gave us excellent advice - wait until Bishop to buy your camp food at Vons..thank you!

    « Vacation »

Nice hotel, clean rooms and friendly staff. Kids had fun at the pool. We stayed here one night and it fit our needs perfectly. It was close access to Whitney Portal Road and the Alabama Hills Area. It's on the main road but we didn't hear any traffic. It also had an area out front to sit and enjoy the beautiful mountain views!!

« Convenient traveling location ... comfortable rooms ... nice breakfast »

Lone Pine is a convenient mid-point stay location when traveling along Hwy. 395 between Lake Tahoe/Carson City area and San Diego area. The motel is older but the room, grounds, and swimming pool area are well maintained. The staff are friendly, efficient, and helpful. Each room has an assigned parking space, which is helpful. The room is large and appropriately furnished (comfortable bed). The free breakfast was good.

« Good overnight stop on the way to Death Valley »

On a road trip between the national parks, this is a great stop on the way to Death Valley. Your basic motel but everything is there: good, comfortable beds and good shower. Nice rooms. Great a/c and small quiet pool on the premises. Quiet area but a close drive to reataurants etc. Breakfast was ok, although mostly sugary, processed and high carb. There was fruit and yoghurt but I would have appreciated more healthy /fresh items but that's really personal. I think most people would find the breakfast selection more than ok. The price was reasonable. Would stay again.

    5
« All comfort to recover »

We stayed here the night before heading to Death Valley. Fortunately the hotel proposes breakfast (included according to formula) as soon as 5:00 am, which is very appreciable. Breakfast is good, although it is not the best I've seen in a Best Western. Otherwise all comfort is provided : swimmimg pool, fitness room, ice, laundry. And the room was nice, clean, comfortable and convenient. Inside, we always appreciate when functions of bathroom are separated, and here is the case with the bathroom sink located ouside the bathroom, which accommodates shower and toilet. Beds, carpets, air conditioning, fridge : all ok. Conclusion : A good place to stay for a price that I judged acceptable when I booked, 141,11 usd all taxes included for 3 people including breakfast, in July.

    4
« one of the best places to stay near mount whitney »

I had my big day with mount whitney and found this to crash in before and after. One of the best places I can say. * Rooms are clean and comfy, though look very tight on space. * The breakfast includes hot omlettes, spiced potatoes, yogurt, breads, fresh fruit and juices.. It was really helpful when my family including two kids were staying back. And then we went ahead to death valley but really enjoyed the stay here for two nights.

    4
« Nice breakfast, clean rooms »

We were only here for 12 hours following our Mt Whitney hike. It was perfect after a couple nights camping - we got hot showers, had nice comfortable beds, and a cool room which was nice since it was over 100 degrees out. The room was quiet and dark and I slept well. In the morning we had a great breakfast - pancake machine, eggs, toast, cereal, lots of options. We didn't get to try out the pool. I'd stay here again if I were in Lone Pine and not camping.

    2
« Nicest hotel in Lone Pine, but wouldn't cancel our reservation »

We stayed one night here - nice hotel, excellent air conditioner in the room (critical in 100+ degree Lone Pine), very nice breakfast in the morning. I had a reservation for a second night 2 days later, but plans changed with some problems with our group hiking up to Mt. Whitney; due to being up in the mountains I didn't have cell reception and missed the hotel's cancellation deadline by 1 hour. The hotel refused to cancel the room and we were fully charged. The day of the reservation I called the hotel to ask if there were any available rooms and they said they were fully booked, so clearly they were able to book our room and made double money on the room that night. I acknowledge they didn't break any rules but I thought it was poor customer service that they would not agree to cancel our reservations, especially at such a busy time of year when it was likely they would be able to book the room.

    « Great Hotel. »

We visit lone pine quite often. We come here to hike the Eastern Sierra mountain range. This is a great place to stay. Very friendly and nice and clean. They do have dog friendly rooms. Just on the edge of town. We will stay here every time.

    5
    « Great Stay... »

This is a GREAT place to stay with children and pets...nice pool for the kids....great outdoor area for the dogs....I would definitely stay here again when I'm driving north and south on the 395! Good breakfast too! AND, the air conditioning works!! That's a huge plus when it's over 95 outside!!

    5
« Great Stay in Lone Pine »

Seems like rooms have been recently remodeled. Beds were very comfortable. Ice machine worked great which was needed as it was 107 degrees outside. TV volume could not be raised to loud which was an interesting feature (good for guests next door!) breakfast was open at 5 am - perfect for Mt. Whitney hikers!

    5
    « Wonderful and Relaxing! »

We stopped here for one night on our way to Gardnerville. We enjoyed our stay. The room was large and the king bed was very comfortable. Nice towels and everything was super clean. The pool was so much fun. The hot breakfast was very tasty and included eggs, potato, and sausage. The view of the mountains was amazing. Highly recommend!

    4
« Nice staff and easy stay »

We stayed here with our uhaul. Many people where there for Mt. Whitney and they have a great pool outside with a good view of the mountains. It's dog friendly as well which was what we needed since we where moving. The room was clean and nice. Free breakfast in the morning. No problem with parking our uhaul overnight.

    « Surprisingly great! »

Booked for one night as a stopover between Mammoth Lakes and Las Vegas and to be honest didn't expect it to be such a great experience. Allocated parking space outside room, outside areas very clean & well appointed, room & bathroom were spotlessly clean and the bed was incredibly comfortable - had a fantastic night's sleep! Wifi connection was excellent & the air con very effective. Breakfast was ok, included all the basics. Excellent value for money & very much exceeded our expectations

    4
« Great for Mt Whitney Hikers!! »

We stayed here before and after we hiked Mt Whitney and were very happy with the staff, the hotel room itself and the fact that we could leave our second car on the lot when we parked at the trailhead. (When you have an overnight pass for Whitney, they only give you one parking pass. Some people are forced to pay $20 to pay for their second car to be parked on various lots in town, but BW let us park there for FREE even though we were not staying there the night we summited!!) The breakfast started early (great for hikers) and the rooms were cozy. My only negative feedback would be that the walls between the bathroom and bedroom areas are too thin, so anytime someone flushed at night, everyone would wake up.

    5
    « Exactly our style »

Traditional single-storey motel, our own porch & front door, decent size room, large bathroom, well-equipped, up-together & clean. Specific allocated parking bay close to the room. Good pool, better breakfast than most. Only minor downside is that it's not walkable to town, just a two-minute drive.

    5
    « Clean comfortable room »

Spent one night here. Room was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We appreciated that there were 2 sinks in the room to facilitate the family getting ready in the morning. Breakfast was standard hotel fare, breakfast area was really hot the morning we were here. Staff was very friendly.

    5
« Great place to stay »

This is our second time staying in Lone Pine, and both times we stayed at this motel. When arriving for the first time, I thought that this would be like any other inexpensive motel. However, the rooms appear to have been recently renovated. They are very clean and spacious. Both times we stayed, our rooms we had two queen beds and a sitting area. One of the best features was that there were two sinks, which is a great benefit when traveling with a family. The hotel is conveniently located right off of the 395 and is a short distance from the Eastern Sierra's Visitors Center and from good places to eat. Breakfast was complementary and was not bad. We will definitely stay at this hotel again if we are in the area.

    5
    « Very comfortable »

We stayed here on our way to Death Valley from Eastern Sierra. The hotel was very comfortable & clean. It had all the facilities it needed to make our stay comfortable, tea & coffee making facilities & also a pool. Breakfast was very good too - would stay here again

    4
« Hot breakfast and friendly staf »

The only complaint we had was that the breakfast room was too warm. This set up an amusing situation. Since we elected to take our food outside where it was more comfortable we had the occasion to pass the staff at the desk several times each morning. Every time we entered one staff member would say good morning. When we left the other staff member would say "Have a nice day." At any rate we enjoyed the hotel and Lone Pine.

    5
    « Charming place »

What a great hotel just outside Death Valley NP in the Mount Whitney Portal. so clean, comfy beds, fantastic breakfast all with an amazing view of the sierra mountains. this place will put a smile on your face.

« High Quality Sleep, Great Price »

My sister and I pulled in late, and we were pre-checked in (convenient) since we called ahead. The room was very comfy and had a fridge. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was nice and dark so we slept in a bit. The price was great too! We parked in front of our room, so it was very easy to load / unload our stuff. Great, simple sleep!

    5
    « Ohh my goodness... »

What a surprise when we checked in last night... Drove arround to our room and all loked like they used some new paint... Then we turned the key... And here we stood: A completely new and beautiful room... If you follow my critics, you see that me saying this normally only happens with a few 5* hotels... Great job!!!!

    « Pleasant Surprise »

Arrived to Lone Pine on a Sunday evening expecting a subpar motel room. We opened the door to our room and we were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was. The room must have been newly remodeled because we could smell the fresh paint. Everything was clean and bathroom was fairly large. Here is the breakdown. Pro Dog friendly (no extra charge) Clean Updated Free Wi-Fi (no Sprint service) Assigned parking Continental breakfast Con Bed - hard and squeaky Pet relief area was behind the Best Western in a dirt field and no bags. I would totally recommend this Best Western to others.

    4
    « Clean and simple »

This motel is clean and has a comfortable bed. The bathroom is small and shower has weak water pressure, but it is good enough for a night or two. Breakfast is a typical continental with standard options. Staff is friendly.

    4
« Very Good to Excellent for Best Western »

Comfortable hotel about 1 mile south of downtown Lone Pine. This hotel is a good base for exploring the area, nice breakfast included. The oversized rooms are very nice, in fact one of the nicest BW rooms I ever had, highly recommended. Also the in room, free wifi was very fast via fiber optic.

    5
    « Best in Town ! »

Well situated south side of town, great views of Mt. Whitney. Front desk staff go out of their way to be helpful. Rooms are nicely-sized, quiet, clean and neat. Breakfast is good as they come, with helpful attendents and often includes cheese omelets. We always make a point of staying at Frontier Best Western !

    5
    « Hiking Trip »

Specifically aimed for families and hikers. Very nice amenities and a great breakfast. We had a king mattress and it could have been more comfortable; however, this is my only complaint. The showers also had their own soap, shampoo, and conditioner dispenser. The breakfast had an awesome cheese omelet, which I believe was made on site, and the typical free breakfast items that consist of muffins, coffee, cereal, etc.

    3
« Nice room, clean and convenient »

One of the better best westerns. Room very clean and tidy, easy to find on the interstate. Quiet, nice showers and a better breakfast than many (still paper plates etc). Only negatives were the pillows are like rocks and too high and the air con is noisy (but constant) and boy you need the air con

    5
« Best place to stay in the Bishop/Lone Pine area »

BW Lone Pine gives you everything you could possible want in a motel. Prices are very reasonable. The fact they are pet friendly is very important to me. I stay here quite often on my way to and from Reno and San Diego.

    5
    « Friendly and clean »

Lovely hotel located in Lone Pine, room spotless, everything we needed, coffee machine, iron and board, hair dryer, comfortable bed washed down with a lovely breakfast plenty of choice orange juice, coffee, cereals, breads, muffins, bagels, bacon, potatoes eggs - what more could we ask and good value for money.

    5
« Nicely Updated Older Property »

This is an older property that has been refurbished, but they did a great job. Room was spacious and gleaming clean. We arrived late and appreciated quick check in. Breakfast was decent for a motel breakfast, and eating area was large enough to accommodate all. We were so tired that we could have slept through anything, but if you're bothered by noise, ask for a room in the back of the property away from the highway. The trucks going by on 395 are pretty loud.

    2
    « No internet »

This was a nice place except they could not keep their internet working. It was off 90% of our stay on the 21st of June. I will file a formal complaint. I called their high speed internet specialist four times. He got it going once, it lasted 15 minutes before it failed again.

« Excellent place to stay in Lone Pine »

We were on our way from Reno to San Diego and this place was half way. The property is impeccably maintained. Front desk person Patricia was excellent and helped me move to a room that fit my needs. This place is a gem, just a half mile south of town. The room is spotless, and there is no hint of chemical cleaner smells. Would recommend to anyone who wants a good end for their trip to Mt Whitney. Ask for rooms number 170-178. We stayed in 174, and it had a nice whirlpool bath.

    4
    « Popular Place »

We only stayed one night, a Sunday, and boy was this place ever popular. I liked that it was one story and each room had a correspondingly numbered parking spot near the room. No worries that you would come home late and not have a space to park in. Guests were outside enjoying the pool and tables and chairs set out on the lawn. Grounds, lobby and dining room were clean. Rooms were clean and quiet, and the beds were quite comfortable. We would stop by again.

    4
    « Clean and convenient »

The staff was friendly and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable with good internet access. Breakfast was included with room. The selection of items was comparable to other hotels (less the ubiquitous waffle making station) but could use addition fruit options besides apples and oranges. I would stay here again.

    5
    « Awesome! »

Awesome! Quiet and up to date. Breakfast has good selection and comfortable surroundings. Pool area is clean and neat just like the rooms. Best value in Lone Pine. Stayed there many times and will return again!

« Loved this cozy place and the warmth of the people »

This was the first time we stayed in Lone Pine. So glad we chose Best Western to stay for a night between Death Valley and Yosemite. Best Western offered everything we needed after the long drive and a very hot day in Death Valley. It is in a very convenient location, with many nice restaurants nearby. We were able to park the car right in front of our room. The room was big and clean. The staff was very patient when we asked about the directions and local attractions. We would highly recommend this place to our friends!

« Best value in Lone Pine! »

Stayed in December 2015. Very clean, comfortable, and reasonably priced. Room was very spacious, with plenty of room to spread out. The continental breakfast was probably the best I've ever had. Fun ambiance and great location. We'd definitely stay again!

    « LONE PINE EXCELLENCE »

we have stayed at many Best Western Hotels over the years and this was one of the best. Quiet, private rooms, excellent hotel staff. When we had breakfast, someone was right there to clean the table when they left. Rooms are a nice size.

« Pleasant hotel in quirky town »

We stayed one night in this clean, helpful motel. We were able to sit out by the pool after our long drive. The town was well worth visiting for its bars, restaurants and old pioneer railway station. We were told it was a favourite place to visit by John Wayne

« Surprisingly nice rooms inside rustic exterior »

The exterior is a bit rustic, but pretty much what one would expect in a remote area devoted to outdoor activities. The rooms were surprisingly well appointed; great bed, attractive furnishings, large tv, mini-fridge. The staff was terrific. The pool was clean and attractive, the breakfast included hot fresh items, and starts at 05:00!

« Great for overnight stay. »

Stayed one night in this motel. Helpful and quick check in staff. Room was very clean but somewhat basic for the price. However it very quiet and did the job. The pool was good and the breakfast was really good, one of the best of the whole trip.

« John Muir Trail - Yosemite to Mt. Whitney »

Excellent experience. Added bonus to have stayed in the "Cary Grant" room. I got to sleep next to a picture of Cary from the Gunga Din film. Most of the rooms had a motion picture theme from the films that were filmed in the region.

« nice place to stay »

Rooms are clean. Our room had a very small shower though and the water temp. in the shower fluctuated occasionally. Bed was clean and comfortable. Free breakfast in morning has a nice variety of food and is well displayed. Was not happy with parking though. Spaces are very small. We were driving a 2016 SUV ford explorer and barely had room to get out. Looked out the window the following morning to a woman with her door wide open and banging into the side of my new car. I had to open the window and ask her to not bang into my car. The staff were wonderful though and overall we enjoyed our stay.

« Always an Excellent Stay »

What I call the "name" rooms (on the south side of the hotel), are huge and comfortable. Large microwave and refrigerator under the TV are big plusses. Lots of space in the bathroom area makes it great for people traveling together. Internet was extremely fast and always available. The breakfast area is large and well-stocked. i always get there early, so maybe that's the key. If the hotel is full, then yes, they use up what they have. It happens. Lots of restaurants in town, that you have to drive to, but that's minor. And the location, with the view of Mt. Whitney, can't be beat. Would never stay anywhere else in Lone Pine.

« The view is worth the stay »

Lone Pine is a lovely little town with a fabulous view and this Best Western is set up to take advantage of it. The hotel came recommended and I was delighted when we arrived. If this location is on your agenda, make reservations early, as everyone else seems to have the same idea. Pets are welcome as well. We found our room to be very clean and quite comfortable, with easy access and plainly marked parking outside the door. The room had two doors, one to the back to sit on the patio and enjoy the mountain view to the west. It securely locks after one comes back in. Great breakfasts. BW is known for this and we were not disappointed. Friendly front desk people who were willing to go the extra mile. Close in town location to find the evening meal with many good choices. I would have liked to stay again on my way through going the other direction, but they were full.

« Margarita at front desk awesome, room beautiful »

Way beyond our expectation. Our day with our kids at Yosemite was awesome and punctuated so well with our experience at Best Western plus Frontier Motel. Margarita was working at the front desk alone during a convention of sorts with some inebriated but pleasant guests and still went out of her way to find us a last minute room and to ensure all of our needs were met. She was grace under pressure. Our room was beautiful. She even helped me register for a Best Western rewards account, since we stayed at Best Western Saunora last night, and had another awesome experience there. This place is a diamond in the rough, and I mean that, given the places we stopped before that were gnarly and overpriced. Anyway, we have been highly impressed so far with Best Western. This property was great, and in a beautiful location!

    4
« Clean and nice but breakfast needs work »

Rooms have been updated since my last stay - very attractive and nicely done. The room and bathroom were very clean and well stocked. Pool area was clean...pool was cold but refreshing. Wish there was a hot tub for soaking muscles tired from hiking! We tried to get the "included" breakfast at 9am on Saturday morning, but there was literally nothing to eat - the pastries were empty, hot food empty, no yogurt or cereal to be had. We asked the gal at the front desk and were told they were working on restocking it. We waited for 10 minutes. All they brought out was a small amount of mini muffins. We couldn't wait any longer so we left with no breakfast, and that makes the value of this motel go way down.

    4
    « Vintage quality »

Our queen room was small, but otherwise top-notch. We noted that the two-queen rooms were much more spacious. Our room had a small frig, the larger rooms have a microwave as well. Everything is neat, clean, freshly-painted and works as intended. Everything is on one floor. Parking is in a designated space just outside your room. Breakfast offers eggs, bacon, potatoes, cereal, bread, limited fruit and the usual drinks. The location is not within easy walking distance of the downtown area, but that is about the only negative. It is not even a negative when the view across the street is a pasture and Mt. Whitney!

    5
    « Mid-century gem of a motel! »

This hotel is very spacious and comfortable. It seemed like a mid century classic, almost like a place where Desi and Lucy sould have visited. I would like to return and stay a week.. Good breakfast too. Nice field for walking pets. Very quiet but was located on highway.

    5
    « Outstanding Facility »

Super Clean facility and easy access at the south end of town. Easy parking. Pool onsite. Fitness room. Shower has a rotating, high pressure hot water nozzle, excellent after a long day of hiking at Mount Whitney. Overall was very happy with facility. Owner is a supporter of Warrior Hike Charity which is also a charity I support,

« Great room, service and scenery »

This was one of the nicest Best Westerns we stayed at on this trip. The ease of accessing the room with single level parking right outside. The staff was extremely friendly and the girl working in the breakfast room did a great job keeping all the food supplied and always had a smile on her face. We would definitely stay here again.

    5
    « This hotel is a jewel!!! »

Our family had a really great time on this hotel. It was supposed to be an improvised option just to put a break on a long shot drive between LA and Lake Tahoe, but it turned out to be an amazing experience. The room is huge, everything very well mantained and comfortable. The breakfast exceeds by far the ordinary for this kind of hotels. The staff is lovely. The lady responsible for the breakfast buffet gave us some really awesome advise about the local touristic spots, which made out trip much more pleasant. I can't find words to say how far that hotel overcame our expectations.

    3
« Great Motel, friendly staff; but a long walk to the nearest bars, restaurants. »

We received a lovely welcome, but if you want to dine or socialise you have a long walk on the side of unlit roads on a main thoroughfare for large trucks. Lone Pine is a fantastic place to stay, steeped with western film history

    5
    « Good stop on Rt. 395 »

This little motel in Lone Pine has never disappointed us on our way along Rt. 395. We stayed two nights on this trip to see some of the sights in the area. Very comfortable place and the breakfast was a nice start for the day.

    5
« Stayed Three Out of Six Nights »

We stayed at this hotel three nights out of a six-night jaunt through the Eastern Sierras. Lone Pine is a great location as it is midway along the range. There are plenty of good restaurants (especially Seasons) and lots to do right around Lone Pine, including the film museum, Manzanar, and the Alabama Hills. Plus, Lone Pine is the only town from which to view Mt. Whitney (the highest peak in the contiguous States). And you can gaze upon it as you float/lounge around the hotel pool. The rooms are clean and comfy. The breakfast includes the fastest little pancake makin' machine in the West. But the staff is what brought us back the third night. They do this hotel a great service and more, providing guests with information, extra conveniences, and even daring do when necessary. For many reasons, Lone Pine was my favorite town on the trip. And this hotel was part of what made the Lone Pine experience so great.

    5
« Great stopover to Death Valley »

Three of my friends and I took a motorcycle trip from Carson City to Las Vegas by way of Death Valley, and stopped for the night in Lone Pine. This Best Western motel is located right on highway 395 just one mile from the highway that lead to Death Valley. The view of Mt. Whitney and the Alabama hills was amazing! Our rooms were clean, comfortable, and included a refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave oven, and large flat screen TV. The free breakfast included eggs, waffles, assorted pastries, fruit, yogurt, juice, and coffee..a perfect start for continuing our ride! We would stay again when traveling through the area.

    5
« Clean quiet and friendly »

Needed a pet-friendly motel for one night. Best Western Frontier offered exactly what we needed, at a great price, and with only one day advanced booking. Desk staff were helpful and friendly, our room was spotless and comfortable, and I can see no reason to stay anywhere else. Lone Pine is a great place, and whatever brings you to the region, the Best Western Frontier will be a great place to rest your weary head.

    « A Reminder of Happy Trails »

The BW Frontier Motel in Lone Pine reminded me of family trips with stops at motels along the highway. The motel has that one-story look and cozy feel to it. Of course it is clean and well-managed for a comfortable one-night stay, but it is fun, too. Some of the rooms are decorated with western movie character photos and names on the doors. I also like the pancake maker at breakfast--fast and tasty.

    « Recommend »

Nice hotel with good rooms. Clean and with good space. Good breakfast and had a nice pool. Located next to a road which had little traffic. Walking distance to lone pine center. I would go back to this hotel again.

« Nice place, GREAT breakfast. »

A nice, clean, well presented place not quite in the center of Lone Pine but close enough. Between the visitor center and the main drag. Room was clean. Very comfortable bed with in room coffee maker, though as with other hotels in the bathroom!. The view towards Mt Whitney was awesome from my room and the nice swimming pool. Breakfast was served from 5 am which is great for hikers wanting to hit the trail early. And what a breakfast!!...cheese omelets, bacon, sausage. delicious potatoes and everything else you need. The parking spaces were cramped and coming back from town it was awkward turning right into the hotel if there were cars flying along behind you. I , a few times drove half mile past then done a u turn. Apart from that a very nice place.

« Clean and decent Best Western with great look to Mt Witney »

We stayed here just for a day to get to Lake Tahoe, actually the 2nd time already. The rooms are ok and clean. We have never been disappointed so next time we would stay here again. Good breakfast that you can enjoy outside with a phenomenal view to the Sierra Nevada.

    4
« Good place to stay »

Great little place in Lone Pine with fantastic views of the mountains. Bathrooms aren't the biggest but ok for the one night we stayed. Breakfast is good for a motel and swimming pool is good too. Great location for the Western Film Museum, Alabama Hills and the Manazar Relocation Camp which is a must visit.

« A welcome comfort west of Death Valley National Park »

Lovely spacious room with the most comfortable bed and pillows I've ever slept on in a hotel/motel. The staff were quick and efficient and the breakfast very satisfying. Would definatently stay here again if I'm in the area.

« View of Mt Whitney for breakfast »

Everyone friendly location. Rooms large and clean. Facility very quiet at night even though it is on the main road in the area. Loved how you walk outside or the main lobby, or the breakfast room you have the Alabama Hills and Mt Witney to look at. Beautiful.

    4
« Perfect Location, Very Clean »

If you're looking for a place to access the Alabama Hills, this is the place. First off, the lobby, the grounds and my room were spotless. Good size room would be perfectly comfortable for two people and their stuff. The bathroom was very clean and surprisingly large. Breakfast is a pretty good spread. Fresh eggs, sausage and bacon. Cereal, fresh fruit and juice. Best of all, they start serving at 5A. The pool and the pool area were also clean and the pool furniture in great shape. I'd definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Great Place! »

I love this hotel and have stayed here before. The room was very clean and spacious. Good complete breakfast included. It's located in a lovely little frontier style town and the highlight for us is the nearby Alabama Hills where a lot of the old western movies were shot. That is a good reason to stay at least 1 night in Lone Pine.

    4
« Best Western Lone Pine »

This hotel is in an excellent location. It's a bit out of town but has an amazing view of the Sierra Nevadas on one side and the Inyo Mountains on the other. Highway 395 out front is busy but it didn't disturb us. Good breakfast, good WiFi all included. We stopped there again on the way back when it was warmer and the pool was very tempting.

    4
« Big suprise in a small town »

We spent 3 nights at the BW Plus Frontier Motel in Lone Pine. It has been newly renovated and is really quite nice. The bathroom was very large. The sleeping area is cozy, but met our needs just fine. The breakfast area is also newly renovated and had nice selections. We enjoyed our breakfast all three mornings. The pool was open and we spent an afternoon lounging beside and getting a bit of sun. We would definitely stay here again if in the area.

    3
« A Little Dated But Still Serviceable »

This hotel has been here for a long time but all the usual Best Western amenities are available. Great location with views of Mount Whitney. Try to get a room farther back from the highway to avoid the traffic noise. Nice outdoor pool area and very good breakfast. A short walk into town for available restaurants although I suspect most people will drive.

    4
    « Very clean rooms »

Not the newest or most luxurious motel ever, but perfect for the location and what I needed. The room was exceptionally clean, fresh (meaning, it didn't smell like anything but clean), and the bed, while soft, was very comfortable. The property was well cared for, and I would recommend this motel to others.

« Updated and quaint Best Western »

Although it appears when driving up to hotel may seem outdated, we stayed in one of the buildings towards the back and all rooms have been updated and beds comfortable. Pool was clean with plenty of towels supplied and the surrounding area clean. Nice little refrid; clean bath and loved that we could open the windows. Great views of the Eastern Sierra. Food okay but not great. Worth the stay. We would stay here again.

    5
    « Outstanding customer service »

Check in & check out was easy, great Breakfast & service. Close to Mt Whitney & town . The rooms were kept clean & modern with Jacuzzi bath available, didn't use it cause just traveling thru. It was sold out so make sure u make reservations at least a day before. They give Government rate & AAA.

    « Great »

Considering that I am a picky person especially when it comes to hotels, I was very stratified with Best Western Plus. The rooms were clean, and the breakfast was fantastic.. they had a variety of food to choose from. :)

    5
    « ADA Compliant Room »

I generally stay at less expensive, less quality motels. However, I brought my moderately handicapped wife along to look at some property in Lone Pine. I called the night before to make reservations and asked specifically for an ADA compliant room. One was available so I reserved it. Exterior accessibility was excellent and easily allowing us to use both her wheelchair and quad cane at different times when going in and out of the room. Interior of the room was very spacious, bathroom was HUGE. Because of this experience, I will be taking my wife with me on more trips and will specifically seek out and stay at Best Western Motels/Hotels.

    5
    « A great place to stay »

Stayed one night here as a first time in a Best Western. Clean comfortable and peaceful. The rooms are spacious with all you could need. Breakfast adequate. Delightful view of Sierra Nevada mountains from the parking area. All in all we were very happy here and would recommend

« Great Little Motel with Views of Mt. Whitney »

I've stayed at this hotel multiple times and have found the staff to be very accommodating as well as helpful. Both times we checked into our room many hours before check-in time. The breakfast is quite large as far at "FREE" breakfasts are concerned and there is something for all diets and tastes. You can sit outside the hotel and the pool area to get fabulous views of Mt. Whitney when the weather is good. The best deal in town!

    4
« A lovely stop on the road to Mammoth Lakes »

A simple but lovely hotel that offers everything you would like in a one night stop. Lone pine itself is beautiful and a surprising green and luscious area after travelling through death valley. The hotel offers simple but well maintained and furnished room. The welcome was warm and friendly. There is a swimming pool in the middle of the car park and some chairs and tables so you can sit outside on a warm evening. The breakfast was delicious with a waffle maker, fruit, cereal, yoghurt, hot food and variety of drinks.

    « Workable with a few tips »

If you are "ungreeted" by the same individual we were, so desperately unclear on the concept of the hospitality business, you may have trepidations. Don't be scared. The basic minimal amenities of Best Western are there: good bed, tub, fridge, microwave, wifi. Kids can go crazy in the pool and you can sit outside. With simple flick of the wrist you can transform the hard spherical rock into an actual pillow (untuck the pillowcase). If you examine the labels on the shampoo dispensers on the wall in the bathroom BEFORE you get in there without your glasses you can save yourself a dripping trip. We rebooked for the return trip not because it was nice, but because it could be a lot worse. Fourth day of road trip, anyone cranky? We stick with Best Western because for the price even when it's uninspired it's still workable.

    4
    « Desert Oasis »

We stayed here overnight during a western road trip, breaking up the drive between Orange County, California and Boise, Idaho. The hotel was clean, quiet, and welcoming. The breakfast included with our stay was top notch as far as continental breakfasts go. The view of Mount Whitney right from the hotel was spectacular.

    4
« Great place to stay in Lone Pine! »

We stayed one night and had a room with two queen beds. The room was surprisingly spacious and clean. We had 3 adults in the room so it was nice that there was some extra space. Breakfast in the morning was good and hot with a lot of different choices. The staff at the front desk was friendly and service prompt. Pool and outside tables were nice but it was too cold out to swim. We will definitely be back!!

« Best Western Plus Frontier Motel Lone Pine »

« my favorite Best Western Hotel »

I have stayed at this hotel for many years on many trips to Mammoth Lakes. it is always clean comfortable and quiet. The theme rooms are very large and away from the street. The staff has always been very helpful and cheerful . They go out of their way to be kind. And of course the view from the breakfast room is just fantastic. I would give this place 5 stars every time.

    5
« Great Place for Alabama Hills »

Great stay in a great location close to the Alabama Hills and Mt Whitney. Room was clean and had plenty of space for everything. Quiet in the evenings, no noise from neighbors or the highway. I liked this motel.

    4
« Comfortable Stop After Death Valley »

The Best Western brought a return to normality after leaving unreal DV ( not just the landscapes). The room was spacious and comfortable with good facilities. And the pool was a great bonus. On closer inspection the windows were old and far from robust, the aircon unit was in a recess and didn't cool the room effectively, and the taps on the bath and shower were screwed on so tight they needed brute force to open them. And then they dripped all night. The breakfast room was better than some other BWs and the food on offer was above average. A healthy start to the day was quite possible. And a friendly lady kept everything shipshape. All in all a pretty good place to rest for a couple of days.

    5
« Best Western Lone Pine »

Whenever we are in this area we stay here. The staff is always super friendly. The rooms are always neat and clean. The breakfast is always hot and/or fresh. Best Western hotels/motels always provide a great value for a reasonable price.

« Nice place to stay in Lone Pine »

The choice to stay at this location was made by our group leader based on his prior experience in Lone Pine. I am happy to say that I agree with the selection. I found Frontier Motel to be clean and convenient. The staff was very friendly. The wireless internet connection was very good.

    « A Great Pl;ace in Lone Pine, CA »

The Best Western is my choice in Lone Pine. Comfortable room, easy parking, and a great (and early) breakfast. A glitch with computers at check in was easily handled by staff. Simply a fine base for enjoying the Eastern Sierra.

« Not a resort, but it was fine for one night. »

Television reception not good...Refrigerator was loud. We had to turn it off. Room was clean. Our room was next to main highway. This is why I gave it an average rating. Parking was nearby room. Several good restaurants were also nearby.

    5
« Nice room with view »

We like it because the room was clean and roomy we stay in the Gregory Peck room. the breakfast was good and we had internet with no problems. It was easy to find as the next day we were headed to Death Valley. The cost was very good also and if you wanted there was a lot to do there if staying longer.

« Lone Pine Exploration Trip »

We arrived at the Best Western Plus Frontier Motel after a 3 day stay at the Stovepipe Wells Inn in Death Valley. After a fast check-in we entered our room and felt in luxury in comparison the the Death Valley experience. Wifi, bright clean bathroom, a desk, etc. plus breakfast. All this came at half the price of Death Valley. We found wonderful adventures in the Alabama Hills, Whitney Portal, Fish Hatchery and educational experience at Manzanar. Friendly staff and nice accommodations made our stay very enjoyable.

    5
« Convenient to Manzanar National Historic Site (War Relocation Center; Excellent Lodging »

Manzanar, the location of the internment of Japanese living on the West Coast at the start of WWII, many of whom were U.S. citizens, is about 10 miles North of the Motel. Our room at the motel was relatively large, clean and well-appointed (TV and small refrigerator in the room), all for a very reasonable price. The staff was cheerful, friendly and helpful.

    4
« Best Western Frontier in Lone Pine »

Very good motel if you are traveling CA Hwy 395. Rooms and beds were very comfortable, and breakfast was quite good. Was worried about the truck traffic noise on 395 but that was no problem once in our room. Had stayed in Dow Villa previously, but will definitely consider BW Frontier next trip.

    4
    « Quiet, comfortable, clean. »

We stayed here for two nights while visiting Death Valley. I had requested a quiet room, so the desk clerk gave us a room tucked into the back of the hotel; it was just what we wanted. The unit was roomy and comfortable. Decent breakfast buffet in a smallish breakfast room. Most of the rooms are named after Hollywood stars, especially ones from Western movies, in tribute to the many movies filmed in the nearby Alabama Hills. Glorious views of the Sierras right across the street.

    4
    « Mt. Whitney gem »

Best Western Plus Lone Pine is a place to always count on consistency. Their rooms have been upgraded very nicely and the beds are comfortable. Rooms are clean and decorated nicely. The hotel is across the street from a great view of Mt. Whitney

    « Suprisingly great! »

My experience of best western at home in the UK has been poor. This was really tidy, clean, well appointed and very comfy indeed. I was very impressed. Only drawback is location. 15 minutes walk on a busy road with few sidewalks into town and no taxis. Otherwise a very good hotel

Stayed just 1 night on a road trip and can only say it was lovely , nice rooms , good service , beautiful location and a good breakfast thrown in ... Shame it was only 1 night would have loved to stay a bit longer . Town only 3/4 mile away so really handy ...

« Good for one night. »

Very clean. Crowded. Great rooms. Try to not get higher numbered rooms (150 on up) since they are out of sight of the rest of the property and just felt disconnected?? Maybe that's just me?? The rooms are great. Very modern, clean, and big. The location is not a quick walk to restaurants etc..

    4
    « Very good »

Quite happy with BW. Clean rooms, prompt check in and good service. TV reception a little on the poor side, but that was unusual for BW. I always look for BW hotels in my trips. Would highly recommend them over other chains.

    « Death Valley trip »

We couldn't find a place to stay in the park in Death Valley. April is peak season we discovered, but Lone Pine's Best Western was the next best thing!! Very quiet and CLEAN. In this day and age, that is important to us!

    5
    « A good place to stay »

Not a luxury hotel, but a standard hotel with good staff and everything in perfect order. You could tell it was an upgraded older facility only by looking very carefully. Above average for this type hotel were the internet speed, the lighting in the room, and the breakfast buffet.

    5
    « Great little motel »

The 5 star rating is based on what this Best Western is, not what it's not. This is not a big beach resort in Hawaii, like the Montage Kapalua Bay. Instead, this is a small motel in a relatively slow part of the state, the Eastern side of the Sierras. Though the actual motel may be old, nothing I saw wasn't new. Interior and exterior, everything looked new and taken care of. I've stayed at a lot of Hampton Inns (which I like) which are not as nice as this Best Western. They also have some green-cred. A couple of examples: solar panels and recycling bin in the room (haven't rarely seen those). Breakfast was fine. One surprise, instead of the ubiquitous waffle makers, they had an automated pancake maker. I guess too many people had trouble making waffles. I look forward to return to check out more of the Eastern Sierra.

    5
« Great Oasis in the desert »

Easily the best motel in Lone Pine. Price was great and furnishing were attractive. Great for dogs. Breakfast was good. Friendly people. Try to get the larger rooms on the south side for a special stay.

    « Good value »

Good value in Lone Pine, CA. One of few options near Death Valley National Park and it worked out well! There is a buffet breakfast and Wifi that's included that makes it a good value. Lone Pine itself was surprisingly beautiful in April! We saw snow capped mountains and the desert all in one day!

« Three Star for a Two Star Price! »

We stayed here for one night on our way from San Diego to Lake Tahoe. I was very impressed with the spaciousness of our room. Five people fit in it perfectly, with room to spare! The breakfast was perfect for our kids. It had all their favorites plus a variety of muffins for a treat afterward. Plenty of towels were provided and love the free parking and free Wi-Fi!

Always stay at this place when traveling to Lake Tahoe. Very friendly and accommodating front desk employees and room is always clean. If you are traveling with a dog this is the best place to stay. There is a an open area next to motel to walk your dog.

« Friendly, clean and quite »

This is a great little motel considering the location and other choices nearby. All ground level, very quite. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We opted for the larger room with sitting area and it was a reasonable size. The staff was very friendly and helpful! The free breakfast wasn't awesome, but okay and had some variety. Will definitely stay there again when in the area.

    5
    « Surprisingly Great Motel »

The motel was great! When I booked, I expected the motel to be of lesser quality than other Best Western Motels since we were going to be staying off the beaten path. But the room was spacious, very nice, and very comfortable. In fact, it had more space than some other Best Western Motels. The buffet breakfast was very tasty too.

Came to town for a weekend getaway. Very clean rooms with comfortable beds great pillows, clean bathroom nice shower. A very good value especially when you take advantage of the continental breakfast. Perfect place to stay to explore the area.

« Scenic Base Death Valley and Eastern Sierra »

Lodging in Death Valley National Park is limited and expensive. This Best Western in Lone Pine is a fraction of the price of a room in the Park and has scenic views of Mt. Whitney and the Alabama Hills where many Westerns were filmed. It has been recently renovated and is well run by a friendly staff. The drive in to Furnace Creek Visitor Center is 2 hours and beautiful on a recently repaved road. Restaurants, groceries and gas in Lone Pine are all more available and affordable than inside the Park. The National Historical Site at the Manzanar Japanese American internment camp from WW-II is just 10 minutes north and worth a visit. There is also a museum of Western film in town.

« Good stay, good price, did the job »

Looks like what was once a cheap little motel, has now been bought up by a bigger brand and given the once over. Everything was as hoped, and my only issue was the pillows being so thick I had to use a rolled up towel. I would also add if this was in a block we probably wouldn't have been woken up by the Harley Davidson bikes being started up at 7am. It was like someone starting a lawnmower outside our room. They need to consider having motorcycles parked off site. There's plenty of unused land around. It's just 5-10 minute walk from the main area of shops and restaurants, but so is pretty much everything in Lone Pine.

« Another guest leaving the covers open for extended periodsexcellent stay »

We have stayed in this hotel each year for the last ten years when passing through on a visit to Mammoth Lakes for a skiing trip. It has always been very good, but each year seems to just get a little better. The rooms are always clean and comfortable, with very comfortable beds. Internet access is good and excellent breakfast is included, including hot items form the buffet. Make sure you try the pancake machine, which makes individual freshly made pancakes to order. If I had one tiny criticism it would be that the hot items at breakfast could be hotter, but this is probably due to guests leaving the covers open for extended periods. If there is anything that can be done to raise the temperature of these to keep the food hotter, it would really be appreciated. I would definitely recommend staying here if you are in the area.

    « Pleasantly Surprised »

Great area for pets. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. We will definitely be back! We had a wonderful dinner at the Seasons. Came back it was nice and quiet the beds were super comfortable!!! The staff was super nice! Great hiking close by!

« Best of What is Available »

Renovated rooms and property. Can't get any better! The staff are super great!! Good location to use for visit to Death Valley. The views of snow covered mountains are a nice bonus. The motel is easy to find as it is right on Hwy 395, but not noisy.

« Nice place to stay in a small town »

This is the second time in the past year we've stayed here. It's a nice stop between home and SoCal. Not much out in Lone Pine as to major chains, so went back to this BW+. Was pleasantly surprised that the rooms had been remodeled. A great improvement. Breakfast is hot and good.

    « Can't go wrong »

Very nice place to stay at. Service excellent, they take good care of you. Will be back. Have been going to Lone Pine for pheasant hunts at the Lone Pine Pheasant Club for many years and always stay at the Best Western Frontier. The breakfast they serve is very good.

« Lone Pine Best Western »

Great place to stay. Helpful staff, clean rooms, nice breakfast. Located on the southern edge of Lone Pine. Will stay there next time I am in Lone Pine (probably in 3 months). Good steak house right up the road (bit pricey, but worth it.)

    4
« Very clean, good value, safe choice »

One of the cleanest motels I have ever stayed in. Price was average, but condition of the room was better than any I've stayed in at the same price. Check online for discounts. I will put this one high on my list.

« Hotel is updated and moderately priced »

Like it a lot. Updated, great location, views. Every room is a ground floor. Rooms are large and almost new. Flat screen tv. Good service. View of Mt. Whitney and close to restaurants and stores. Assigned parking.

    4
    « pleasant stay »

Stayed here several years ago and think that it is showing a little wear. Room comfortable and clean as was bathroom and shower- both of which were small. Quiet with a good bed. Breakfast OK. Assigned parking by room numbers, which is fine- but some spaces a bit tight.

    5
    « Looks like 60's »

Looks like a 60's motel. But that only defines the outer structure. Modern, up-to-date, large rooms and bathrooms. Great breakfast. Deserves the designation of a PLUS motel! Was surprised at $10 per night lower fee than lower class motel down the street.

    4
    « Clean and friendly »

First a great deal compared to Death Valley and worth the 2 hour drive. Basic hotel but best in the area. Good breakfast included and the rooms seem to be remodeled and clean. Also tables out front were you can watch the sunset behind the mountains

    4
« Good for the location »

Easy access to Death Valley. Hotel is clean and comfortable. Staff is very helpful. The included breakfast is good and has many items to choose from. Great to have free Wi-Fi. The Hotel has a pool and patio.

« Love this Best Western »

We stayed at this Best Western with a group of friends and our dogs. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean and the location is gorgeous. The cost of the rooms per night was extremely reasonable and I would definitely stay there again.

« We had been traveling all day. »

We had been traveling all day. We had come over the mountain from Death Valley. It was dark. We check in to t his motel. It looked nice on the outside. The rooms were neat and clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable. When we got up in the morning and saw the view, we were awe struck. A great place to stay! The town was friendly also.

    « highly Recommend »

Excellent hotel with very friendly staff, comfy large rooms and a great breakfast. Easily accesable to death valley. Great views of sierra nevada mountains. Very near to lone pine airport so you can also fly down here and walk to the hotel.

    « Excellent Value »

For a one night stay, this place fits the bill. The people were extremely nice. The hotel is clean (the decor a little worn) and the free breakfast was great. Eggs, yogurt, bread and muffins, hash browns, bacon, coffee, tea, etc. were offered. Overall, if we are going through town again, we'd stay here.

    4
« Good stopping place on way to Death Valley. »

Nice, clean rooms. Decent breakfast choices. The shower was horrible. Close to Manzanar National Historic sight. Lone Pine has an interesting museum of Western B movies which were filmed in the Alabama Hills west of town.

    5
    « Well managed property »

We recently stayed at this motel on our way to Death Valley. It's an older style, one story property which has been tastefully remodeled. Rooms are spacious, well furnished and the beds very comfortable. Bathrooms are small but very functional. Everything was very clean. Breakfast had a lot of variety and was very good. So was the WiFi. Parking is directly outside of the room and is marked with the room #.

    5
« Great place to stay on way to or from Death Valley »

We stayed here on our way home after a three day trip to Death Valley. The room was very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was great. There were a variety of things to choose from and there was a staff member constantly checking and refilling food.

    5
« Great place at reasonable cost »

This hotel is about a mile south of the center of town...we found the accomodations to be great...the rooms were nice and clean...the people at the check-in counter were very pleasant. The fact that the motel is away from the activity and shops of downtown gives the place a feeling of being away in the countryside. The breakfast that they serve is displayed nicely...besides the regular motel breakfast choices, they have a pancake machine (!), mini omelets (which, to me, looked plastic and disgusting), and hot sausage patties (yum!). They have wi-fi and pet friendly rooms.

    « Everything one needs »

Newish hotel with comfortable rooms. Bath good but shower poor. Staff friendly. Good location for visiting Alabama Hills and Owens Valley. The museum of Eastern California is interesting to visit, nothing more to say just waffling now to fill 200 word minimum

« Good location, nice place in Lone Pine. »

We stayed at the Frontier for 2 nights in February 2016. We stayed here for a day trip into Death Valley, and the location worked well for exploring the western side of D.V. The motel is a vintage design, with only 10 steps from our car to the room (our previous night in Reno, 10 steps would barely get you started toward the elevator). This is a ?pet friendly? place, and we asked for a non-pet room. The room was clean and quiet. We had no issues with road noise. Breakfast was good, with plenty of variety. We would stay here again.

    3
« Your Basic Clean Place to Sleep »

This is an older motel, but it was very clean, and the bed was comfortable, all I needed for a one-night stay. The price was reasonable, the staff was friendly and the price included breakfast, with eggs and bacon.

    5
« Passing Thru Lone Pine, California »

We found that this is a friendly, attractive motel in the most unlikely spot. It has been very well taken care of and updated. New carpeting, bed and freshly remodeled bathrooms, flat screen TV and very friendly and helpful staff. They have a nice pool for the kids however it was closed when we're there so we were unable to some it. We enjoyed sitting in the yard with beverages watching the sun set over the SierraNevada Mtns. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip. The sun rise on the mountains in the morning is really spectacular.

    5
« Best Western is Best »

The room was clean, odorless, comfortable, had an excellent view of Mt. Whitney, and we found it convenient to have breakfast waiting when we woke up. The fact that they welcome pets is a real plus. Other places treat you like substandard visitors because you choose to take the ENTIRE FAMILY with you on vacation. I would highly recommend to anyone.

    « Best in Town »

We travelled further than the turn off for Death Valley on the I-395 to reach Lone Pine in order to stay at the Best Western frontier Motel. It was easy to find right on the highway. Receptionist was friendly and helpful. The room is large, ample pillows and good quality linen. Plenty of towels too. Spotlessly clean. Dated decor but in a frontier town that kinda goes!! TV and Wifi all work as stated. It was worth the few extra miles to sleep in a comfortable clean reasonably priced room.

    5
    « Cowboy Country »

This is a great little motel with modern conveniences. They are located just a short distance from highway into Death Valley or for cowboy movie buffs, the Alabama Hills outside of town. In the morning, the sunrise shines on all of the peaks surrounding the area as well as all the magnificent peak of Mt. Whitney..

    « Great Stay »

We booked an upgraded room that turned out to be large, comfortable and clean. The staff was totally professional, very nice and really helpful. When we were leaving, we asked a room steward if he had something we could clean our windshield with. He sure did . . himself!! He totally cleaned our windshield for us, it just sparkled. The breakfast was very good. We would definitely stay here again.

What a nice motel. Room 133 was great .wifi good ,tv worked well. Had 2 sinks one in the bath room and one out side of the bathroom. Everything very clean . Pricing not bad for what your getting. Beds and pillows very good. We most like ill stay here again.

« Older hotel but really nice »

We were pleasantly surprised at the amount of upgrades the room had. It looked like it was older hotel and might be a bit run down, but they've done a great job keeping the rooms current. The bathroom tub looked new and the whole room was was very clean. Fluffy towels too!

    5
    « Organized and Clean »

Better than average hotel. Not easy to find a respectable hotel for under $100 in California. Appreciate the assigned parking space to keep my car and my room together. Great place to stay if you want to take the 190 to Death Valley.

    4
    « Great Breakfast View »

Went to see wildflower bloom in Death Valley. Limited options there. Lone Pine is a bit far from the park, but there is nothing on the Eastern approaches at all. Room was big; beds were comfy. Bathroom tub is also a spa with jets, but the motor cover is loose and the edges moldy. Wif-is fast. Breakfast is complete. Just at sunrise, the sun hits the snow-covered peaks toward the West and bathes them in bright reddish glow, while everything else is till in shadow. Woth getting up for

« Clean - good place to stay in Lone Pine. »

I stayed here for 3 nights. Over the past 20+ years, I have stayed here many time. They have done some good (and needed) renovation work. The rooms are quiet and clean. The beds are comfortable and the bathroom is well enough equipped. The room in which I stayed had a shower/tub arrangement and what appeared to be a somewhat oversized bathroom for what was needed, but that didn't impair anything else in the room. The fridge was welcome. I never used the TV so can't comment on selection there. The new angled parking spaces are a good size and conveniently dedicated to each room. I didn't partake of the free breakfast though I noticed many others did as I was checking out. The lady at the front desk seemed a little confused about my reservation when I checked in, but they did have it and everything was straitened out after a few minutes of conversation. I would recommend this hotel as a good, comfortable place to get some sleep while in Lone Pine.

    4
« Great small town accommodation »

We were surprised and pleased at the quality and price of this motel as we prepared to drop into Death Valley the next morning. Room was clean and comfy, bed was great, Internet fast, and breakfast surprisingly good, better than the average.

    « Trip to Death Valley/Mammoth area »

Great location overall. Lone Pine is a GREAT town. We had a lovely visit. Good restaurants and very friendly people. During the visit we learned that a lot of movies where filmed in the city of Lone Pine. We did a day trip into Death Valley because of the wild flowers blooming this time of the year. It was a drive but we decided that the drive was better than paying the outrageous prices the hotels charge inside Death Valley. I would recommend the hotel and stay here again.

« Be careful of cancellation policy »

Accommodations were satisfactory. We had a problem with their cancellation policy practice. We had a two night reservation starting Feb 24. Cancellation is allowed up to 24 hours before. We had to cancel the second night and called on Feb 23 to cancel for Feb 25 but we could not get a refund. The motel, and getaroom.com, your booking agent, claimed that the cancellation period starts on the first day of a reservation, even if you want to cancel a day at the back end as we did. The motel and getaroom said that the motel had billed getaroom and received payment before our arrival for both nights and there was no way to return any of that to us. This is clearly unfair.

« Good mid range stay »

It was a good place to stop to break up a road trip from Las Vegas to LA via Death Valley. Convenient and clean with a nice view of Mount Whitney. There was a good continental breakfast included with the price.

    « Scam »

I was billed for a reservation I didn't have when they claimed I was a no show. I have never been to this hotel in my life but they sent me a bill. Someone at Best Western is committing fraud. I have contacted the hotel in writing to try and resolve this but they are ignoring me. Avoid any Best Western at all cost.

    « Comfortable! »

My husband and I were visiting Death Valley National Park and needed a comfortable, and quiet place to spend the night after our long day of park viewing. We were in the national park to see the wild flowers, and stayed too long viewing. Thank goodness Best Western had a hotel nearby. Your hotel was close by, and was the perfect fit. Thank you Best Western, we love your hotels.

    « Affordable and Comfortable »

We have stayed at this motel many times over the last ten years. We find the setting to be spectacular with a view of Mt Whitney across Hwy 395. The rooms are comfortable the staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast is fairly typical and satisfactory. Lone pine is interesting for a small town and a good access point for Death Valley. also don't forget to visit the Alabama Hills while you are there. If you are over fifty you will recognize the settings of many films as you drive through the area.

    « Rude Front Desk Staff / 7:30 a.m. Vacuuming »

Rude front desk staff. Upon check in, 2 rooms I reserved were on opposite ends of the hotel even though I had requested that they be as close as possible. Staff accused me of making a mistake in my reservation as to the type and size of rooms I had reserved, argued with me until she finally re-read the reservation and realized she made the mistake, but she never apologized. Then we were awoken at 7:30 a.m. by loud vacuuming sounds in the next room. Told the front desk about this, but no attempt was made to address our complaints.

« Great Eastern Sierra Motel »

We consistently stay here when traveling to So. California or vacationing along the Eastern Sierra. Rooms are very clean, like the fact that it is one story and can park in front of the room. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Lots of things to see and do in the area.

« Great stay, we will be back! »

First time staying here. I travel for my job and appreciate cleanliness and comfort, especially a good nights sleep on a good mattress. Refrigerator, microwave, coffee in the room, and breakfast. Conveniently located to Mt. Whitney and DeathValley. This hotel exceeded my expectations!

« Great Place to Stay! »

It is a clean, comfortable, pleasant place to stay. Great location with view of Mt. Whitney. We enjoyed walking out the front door of our room and seeing the sunrise reflected on the Sierra Nevada. We like staying there and exploring the area (Alabama Hills) for a couple of days on our trips to Death Valley. The staff is helpful. The value is great.

« Hop-a-Long, Roy, Gene and the Duke »

Great ambiance, breakfast and beds. You could see why this was the favorite place for the Western Movies to be shot. The views of the mountains from the motel were spectacular. The assessable room was truly assessable from parking, to height of the bed, threshold and roll in shower.

    « All new upgrades »

Excellent place to stay with all new upgraded decor. Their rates for their room are worth the price. Plus, a full delicious, hot and complete breakfast. Easy access to all sites. Have stayed here before and will continue to do so when we visit Lone Pine.

We have stayed at the BW Frontier before, and Always get great service ! Nice Spot Great Views of Whitney and the Sierra Nevadas. This location is perfect for Adventuring into all areas of the 395 Hwy Corridor...and don't miss the Alabama Hills !

    « Excellent stay »

This was an unexpectedly good place! Very clean and organized, all amenities you might need during a road trip, good breakfast, wonderful position facing the mountains of the East Sierra. The Best Western Plus Frontier was probably the best motel I have ever stayed. Lone Pine is a good location between the mountains of the East Sierra and the Death Valley National Park.

« First trip through Lone Pine »

Great experience. The room was clean and had a Jacuzzi tub that was nice. The room also had a refrigerator and microwave that was convenient. Took advantage of the exercise room and enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. It was quiet and economical.

« BW Lone Pine, CA »

Good motel. I recommend it! Beautiful view of Mt. Whitney. There was a little bit of noise from the highway but no big deal. Breakfast was good. The staff personnel were very friendly. Outdoor BBQ grill, there are also tables and chairs for outdoor parties.

    5
« ALWAYS our choice when travelling along Hwy 395 »

I have stayed at this hotel several times already, and always had a great experience. The location is ultra convenient, the full complimentary breakfast is much appreciated, and the price is more than fair. Hotel also allows dogs (up to 80 lbs) at no extra charge and even has special area for them to do their business. We selected an upgraded room this time and it was huge with two queen beds and the most comfortable mattresses, plus free WiFi. The town of Lone Pine is small but inviting, and the "Alabama Hills" where many of the old western type movies were made is worth a trip in itself. Hikers know the town as the gateway to Mt. Whitney, which is the highest peak in the continental US. It is also a gateway to Death Valley which is beautiful as well.

    4
    « Clean, basic lodging »

This is a basic, clean, single story motel at the south end of Lone Pine. We stayed for two nights while we toured nearby Manzanar, Alabama Hills and the Movie Museum. I think it was a smart marketing move for Best Western to label some properties Plus or Premier to set them apart from some "regular" Best Western properties that are, frankly, way below par. Although nothing stands out as sub-par here, I wondered what qualifies this property as Plus. Breakfast had plenty of options, daily newspapers were available every morning and there is a swimming pool outside. But our room was nothing special and showed some signs of heavy usage and minor deferred maintenance. The under-window heat and A/C unit was not too noisy, but it was located in line with the head of the nearest bed so that a breeze blew in the face of a sleeper. The best feature of the bathroom was the presence of a ceiling-mounted heater that could take the early-morning chill off the room in just a few minutes.

    5
« Dependable, convient and clean »

Not a luxury resort, but a very professionally run and dependable roadside hotel experience from Best Western. We came to visit Death Valley and Mono Lake and this location provides good access to both. Included breakfast was fast-food self-service style, but hit the spot.

« Best Place to Stay in Lone Pine »

Rooms are nice and big. Updated décor. The shower pressure wasn't all that great, but the towels were nice and thick and softer than most hotels. The mattress was not comfortable by any means, but the hotels did make it up with their soft pillows. White linens, not the dated comforters of most budget inns.

    5
    « Very nice experience. »

I booked this hotel based upon its rating on TripAdvisor and was not disappointed. Looks like a motel that was converted over to a hotel style. Decor was great, rooms were big and comfortable. Liked parking right in front of my room. Parking space marked and huge. And on a cold morning, it was great having a heater fan in the bathroom. Don't get many of those anymore. Enjoyed my stay very much.

    5
« good location, quality breakfast »

we stayed at this hotel on the way to Death Valley and Las vegas. at night, we went to Alabama hills for night photography. Hotel offers continental breakfast just like any other hotel, but I found it more fresh and delicious at this hotel.

    « Left a bit dissapointed! »

Our room was clean! The bathroom was soo small. I had looked at pictures of this place beforehand, and was very dissapointed with the bathroom. The shower was small and slippery, how small?? The shower mat from the end of the wall covered the drain in the center a bit! Very poor water pressure too! The breakfast was good!

    4
    « Good Handicapped facilities »

One of the best handicapped rooms I have ever been in. Because the room was near the highway it was a bit noisy to start but after the skiers stopped flying down the road it was very quiet. Breakfast was very good and lots of choices. Assigned parking so I didn't get stuck half way down the row.

« Best of Lone Pine »

We stayed one night here before setting off for a Mt Williamson/Tyndall climb. It's a Best Western with basic amenities. We paid extra for a One King Bed-Oversized room and got the Gene Autry. It was at the very south/back end of complex with only one shared wall. It was quiet, and we liked the extra room (couch, coffee table, refrigerator) to sort and store our backpacks etc. The counter folks were friendly, and they set out the basic (non hot) breakfast items for people like us getting an early start up the mountain. Though you are a bit on the outskirts of town, we'd stay here again for sure. We didn't have time to use the pool, but it looked inviting. The themed rooms, memorabilia, and property views made this Best Western the "best" of Lone Pine.

    3
« Avoid confusion on check in »

Hotel and services are average, However, I was not given a AAA discount by the rude receptionist on check in. Upon check out, another receptionist said that there was indeed a AAA discount. Hotel staff should be trained better when dealing with customers, especially in matters of courtesy and hotel policy.

« Great place to stay »

If you travel from Reno NV to the Los Angeles or San Diego area you won't find any better stop over than Best Western Frontier in Lone Pine. The staff goes out of their way to see to your needs or desires. The breakfast bar couldn't be better!

    5
« Great value at winter rate »

Far more pleasant stay than we expected at the price we paid. Room was immaculate, well appointed, quiet. First non-smoking room we've ever booked that actually smelled like a non-smoking room. Staff pleasant and helpful. Just far enough out of town and our room in the back facing the Inyo (?) Mountains was peaceful. The complete breakfast included was a real bonus, lots of choices, no "continental breakfast" here. Our first stay in Lone Pine CA, we had our choices in January but I can imagine given the town's location and surrounding resources this place and others will book fast in summer. We'll stay again but only during the off season due to prices and vacant highways, we had a very enjoyable ride up here, next time we'll stay a couple days and explore the area.

    5
    « What a nice surpise »

Having read the reviews I was interested to stay here - and was not disappointed. An older style single level motel building with parking spaces outside the front door, but the rooms have been refurbished and upgraded and are very comfortable. It wasn't too noisy when we stayed. Breakfast must be one of the best for a complimentary motel breakfast and had something for everyone. The view of mount Whitney is stunning. Don't stay anyplace else in Lone Pine

    4
    « Spectacular views »

This was a very nice Best Western with an excellent breakfast. The views of the Sierra Nevada Mountains are unbelievable! They had a neat collection of John Wayne memorabilia. The rooms were comfortable.

« Great place to stay, every detail is considered »

Nice room. Great (maybe best) place to stay in lone pine. Nice hot breakfast. Free wifi. Details in the room are carefully designed. For example, there is a steady late in front of the air condition to hold the curtain. There is a comfortable plate which can make you eat and drink in the bed with a slot to place you smart phone or pad. There are two doors in the room, one of them can view the mountain. Also, the parking place is exactly in front of the other door, which is also pretty convenience.

    5

This is a motel with parking right outside your room. Nice view of Mt Whitney from room or parking lot, excellent breakfast buffet, pancakes, cereal choices, omelettes, sausages fruit, milk, coffee, teas. Enjoyed our one night stop over stay. Had a problem with the electronic lock in our room which locked us out prior to us checking out. The response from hotel staff in dealing with this while adequate was just that. There was no acknowledgement of the inconvenience it caused us while waiting outside in the cold - reminded me more of a mom and pop place rather than a hotel chain. Other than this issue had a good stay Good wi-fi, close to freeway exit.

    « Good value »

Good price for the quality. Rooms are spacious and the breakfast is very good. 10 minutes driving to Alabama Hills was very convenient for me since I went there at night to take some moon light shots.

« Great Place to Stay »

Very comfortable room. It was nice and clean. The people in the office were very nice. Great breakfast, lots of options and a very nice young lady working in the breakfast room. If you have time the Movie Museum in Lone Pine is a fun and interesting visit.

« Very nice hotel with a great vista »

We stayed at this hotel during our stay in Lone Pine. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The reception staff was very friendly and helpful. The view from the hotel is excellent with the majestic Eastern Sierra Mountains in gracing the western views. Also, the breakfast is just superb. It is really one of the best "free" breakfasts that we had in a while. We highly recommend this hotel.

« Superb views, good location, rooms small »

Good location with great views towards the mountains. We had 1 decent room and bathroom, the other room was cramped with the smallest bathroom possible. Breakfast buffet was awful, coffee like dishwater. Nice pool.

« Great value ...excellent breakfast »

Convenient night stop to break journey from bay area to death valley. King suite was very clean. Breakfast was the high point - sausage, cheese omelettes and pancakes!! However the shower stall in the bathroom is very small.

« Excellent for the price, clean rooms and decent breakfast. »

Lone Pine is a pleasant town to stay at if you are heading to Death Valley or coming back from it, or if you are going to do some climbing or hiking in the Alabama Hills / Mount Whitney area. I felt this chain hotel has done its part in adding to the welcoming nature of the town. Staff was helpful and friendly and the room was clean and the breakfast was decent for the price paid and was available starting at 5 am which was nice for the early birds. Not a luxury hotel nor a b&b, but good enough if you need to get some good rest. Also, all you needed was to step out of your room to get a view of the Sierra and Mount Whitney.

    5
    « Even Quiet on The 395 »

This is a very good choice when you are on the 395 heading north or south. Rooms are consistently clean and well maintained, along with being quite quiet on the busy 395. The FREE breakfast is a fine way to get your coffee a bowl of cereal and get back on the road. I choose a bowl of Raisin Bran as I do not like the taste or texture of institutional style food, but the young adults in our group dig all of it.

    « A Warm Pleasant Surprise »

I am a Best Western Diamond Rewards member and I had always had booked my Best Western stays on the internet at Bestwestern.com. We weren't planning to pass by Lone Pine, California. We found ourselves arriving in Lone Pine at night. We were tired and decided to find a place to stay. We spotted what we thought was an affordable hotel ? Comfort Inn but when I went inside to ask for the rates I was taken aback to find out it was about $120 a room and we needed two rooms since we had our mother. We decided to drive a little farther into town. We spotted the Best Western Frontier Inn. Knowing the quality of what we could expect at a Best Western I pulled in and didn't care if the rooms were $120. While my wife and mother waited in the car, I walked in and was greeted by a very pleasant lady named Margarita. I mentioned to Margarita that I was a Best Western Rewards member and after doing some research she was able to offer me two rooms located side by side at a cost which was almost $50 less per room than what the other hotel had quoted me. Wow! She was very accommodating to my needs as I needed a room near my elderly mother. I wasn't expecting much since the rooms were more affordable than the other hotel. Everyone was pleasantly surprised when we walked into our rooms. They were spacious, modern and very clean. Lone Pine during the winter can be bone chilling cold. Walking into the heated lobby of the Best Western Frontier warmed me up on the outside. Being greeted by a pleasant receptionist like Margarita and going out of her way to find two rooms next to each other warmed me up on the inside. Getting the excellent accommodations for the price I paid warmed up our experience of our trip back from Las Vegas. We're still talking about our stay at the Best Western. It's nice to run into people like Margarita who goes out of their way to look after cold and weary travelers.

« On our way to Death Valley NP »

Exactly what I hoped for. Easy, affordable, clean (immaculate, even), and friendly/helpful employees. On top of the essentials it had easy parking for my car+camper trailer, free breakfast and easy accessible wifi. Perfect stay. Book now.

« Good Hotel for the Price. Fast Internet. Good Location. »

The hotel is at the west entrance of Death Valley National Park. It provides a basic accommodation at a very reasonable price. The room is clean. The bathroom has heater and the shower head can auto-rotate. The internet is super fast both for download and upload speeds for a motel/hotel.

    4
« Room was quite comfortable »

Room was big enough to be comfortable for our 3 night stay visiting the area over xmas holiday. Lobby was very nice. but not big enough to handle the tourist bus load of non BW guests who stopped in for breakfast. Luggage racks were not provided at this BW. I asked for one and was told they are not allowed to provide luggage racks at this BW. Strange. I used the white plastic handicapped seat from the bathroom for my luggage rack. My travel partner used the ottoman for his. Not a big deal. When we travel we adjust to different stuff. The main thing is that we were very comfortable and the location of the BW was convienient to what we had planned. Still all good value.

« Clean, comfortable and great breakfast! »

Very happy with our stay in December 2015 at Lone Pine Best Western. The room is clean and warm, the bed is comfortable, and the staff are friendly, with free wi-fi as well. We stayed there after traveling through Death Valley National Park, and it is a great choice, much nicer and affordable room here compared to the lodge inside the park. And they also provide very good breakfast, with coffee, bread, muffins, eggs, bacon, even DIY pancake machine! Very satisfied. Lone pine is a lovely little quiet town as well, be sure to drive around if you have time. 5 stars experience!

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

We happened upon this motel through the Lone Pine website and originally chose it for the reasonable rates. We found it to exceed our expectations in every way and it has become our place to stay whenever we go to Lone Pine.

Great value. Friendly staff. Comfy bed. Quiet heater. Good breakfast. Hotel is generally in good shape-clean grounds, no chipped paint etc. Well supplied room-hair dryer, microwave, Wi-Fi, fridge (no honor bar-good thing). Plus great view of the Sierra Mountains

    « Review of Staying »

I like it. Clean and proper breakfast. I stopped by for visiting Death Valley and was great to be ready for desert trip. Pretty feel safe and nice & warm room even it was winter time. I recommend of visiting here to all who read this.

    « Comfortable, conveniently located »

This is a decent, low-frills motel right off the highway. We stopped here for a night on the way to Death Valley. Our pet-friendly room was simple, clean and quiet with parking right outside the room. A decent breakfast spread was part of the cost of the room but it got really crowded around 8.30ish with no room to sit so people spilled out into the lobby. It took a while for staff to refill whatever ran out but they did their best. Overall a decent stay for the price and location.

    5
    « Comfortable and relaxing »

I've stayed here several times over the last ten years and have always found it to be a consistently excellent lodging experience. Pleasantly decorated to reflect the area's heritage, absolutely clean, very comfortable, efficient and courteous staff and a really good breakfast offering. Looking forward to the next stay.

    4
    « December Stay »

Everything as expected. Very friendly front desk, both evening and morning. Nice room pleasantries, a little crowded, but normal for an older facility with modern furnishings. Very Quiet. The bathroom was spacious, but could have used better ventilation (shouldn't need to open the window in a winter month). Overall, we would not hesitate to stay there again....

    3
« Stay, sleep, eat and go »

After cruising in Death Valley we arrived at the hotel and checked-in at a smooth pace. The room was clean and contained all that is needed, most important a good bed. Unfortunately it took a while to have a comfy temperature inside due to the outside temperature and it seemed cold air was coming underneath the door and via the (closed offcourse) windows. Breakfast was good yet the eating section only has limited space, so if it's busy I'm assuming it's "pick and eat" while standing. Luckily for us it was quiet so we could enjoy with ease. When on a round-trip this is a fine stay for a night (not assuming anyone will spend a lot of time in Lone Pine as it's only a very small town ;))

    5
« Thank You Best Western »

« Thanks for the wonderful night we spent in Best Western. »

« Great place to stay before our Death Valley Crossing »

We stopped here because of the Tripadvisor rating and we were completely satisfied with our stay. The front desk was super nice, the room was very nice, clean and we did not encounter any problems during our stay.

    « Good stop! »

Very comfortable beds and the place was very clean. Good breakfast. On our way back through Lone Pine, we did not book ahead and could not get a room. It is a very popular motel. Learned my lesson and that is to book ahead of time.

    « pleasure »

We always have enjoyed our stay at the Lone Pine Best Western The staff is very friendly and helpful. A special thanks to the check in clerk, for her assistance. We would recommend the motel to all visitors to the Lone Pine area.

« Well kept and friendly staff »

We stopped here for a night on our way south to Las Vegas. We stayed in a room with two queen beds. The room was nice and comfy. It was clean and had all the amenities you would expect from this hotel chain. It has a free breakfast which was a nice feature. It had both hot and cold items. There is not much in Lone Pine, but this motel was pretty full. I would surely stay here again, a nice place to rest your head on your travels.

    5
« Always stay at this location »

We always stay at this location while traveling between Arizona and Nevada. The staff is always professional and friendly and the rooms are always well kept and maintained. The breakfast is always fresh and gives you many options.

« good if you have a pet »

would stay again if i'm travelling with my pets. no pet charge! room was ok and comfortable. i could park right outside which was important to me...was quiet at night and could sleep except heavy smoke coming in thru heater..seemed like a controlled burn nearby or maybe a house with a fireplace) breakfast was good and plentiful

    4
    « Friendly Staff, Comfortable »

Stayed here twice primarily because they are pet friendly. But even besides that, staff is very polite and the breakfast is above average. It's all single story which is nice. There's a pool and grassy areas with tables. They roll the sidewalks up at night so you are limited when it comes to food. Carl's Jr. is always open if all else fails. If you want some beer or wine, you may have to go to the Mobil station Mart. It's a nice location to stop for the night if you are traveling far like Mammoth or Reno. There's a film museum nearby and a few shops to keep busy. overall, it is descent and the price is fair especially if you have a pet.

« Lone Pine Best Western »

This was a very nice motel to stay at. Very clean, comfortable and modern. Wasn't sure how it would be for being in such a small town, but it was fantastic. Also really liked the assigned parking space. Certainly wish more of them had that. Would definitely stay here again.

« Best Western Plus Fontier Motel, Lone Pine »

Older motel but rooms were very nice: large, well kept, new carpet, very clean and good bed. Pillows were a little hard but not bad. Excellent breakfast!!! View of the mountains was beautiful, especially in the morning.

« Nice pet friendly room »

This is our first time traveling with our new dog. We asked for a pet friendly room, not knowing what we would get. The room was a large corner room, perfectly nice, clean, and comfortable. There was a quiet road leading away from the highway that was great for walking the dog. The staff here is very friendly, and the included breakfast was better than most. We would stay here again.

    5
    « Hotel in a motel setting »

Looks like a well kept road side motel with lawn and sitting area. Once inside the room though, it's like being in a nice, clean and comfortable hotel room. Mountain settings right outside your door is a real treat. Nice staff, great breakfast including hot items and real protein. Great jumping off point fir a Death Valley visit.

« Great place to stay! »

Room was clean and comfortable. I slept well in the beds. Room included a small refrigerator and a microwave (I didn't see this in the listing when I booked the room) Motel is right off of Highway 395, but heard no traffic noise at all. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I especially liked the breakfast selections - no continental breakfast here! There were cheese omlettes, bacon, toast, pancakes, lemon filled muffins, cereal, bagels, coffee and several choices of juice. The breakfast alone made this the best motel in town. I will definitely stay here again. I realize most people are passing through town to other destinations, but there is actually quite a bit to do right in Lone Pine. Many western films were shot here and there is a very good western film museum in town. I took my kids up Whitney Portal road to play in the snow and we visited the ghost town of Cerro Gordo. Manzanar National Historic site is about 10 minutes away. I'll be back to visit again.

« On route to Death Valley »

Used this Best Western as a stopover so that we could spend the next day travelling through Death Valley. The hotel is on the edge of town and set back slightly from the busy main road. Having said that we did not hear any traffic noise and we were in one of the rooms closest to the road. The hotel was pleasant, clean and the reception staff were helpful. Breakfast was available, there was a good selection and the room was not too crowded. A good choice for an overnight stop.

    4
« Comfortable hotel with a fitness room »

I stayed in this motel one night on my way from the Death Valley to Visalia. The room I had was very big, kind of a small flat for me that I am used to the Italian standard (I am from Rome). You can easily park your car just outside the room and there is also a fitness room if you need it. Breakfast is ok. I had a room facing the mountains, which I kindly suggest.

    5
    « numerous stays »

Excellent service, reasonable rates, obviously I'd like to see them cheaper, but they are competitive. the room was comfortable, with all the appropriate amenities....refrig and microwave.. Rooms were quite at night and environmental controls were adequate. Overall, a really good place to stay

« A Great Place to Stay in Lone Pine »

I have always been pleased when I have stayed at this hotel. It is usually an excellent value, and when it's not every other place in Lone Pine is pricey too. It is a great place to base yourself if you want to experience the Southern Sierras or try to summit Whitney or Langley.

    « Very enjoyable. »

We had a great stay at the Best Western Plus Frontier Motel. It is an older motel but was very clean. The room we got was the John Wayne room on the most southwest end of the property. It was a huge room! bigger than many suites we have had at other hotels. My husband opened the curtain in front of the couch and oh my, the beautiful sight of Mt Whitney. A perfect view from all the windows in this room. Breakfast was delicious and included. Staff was friendly. Parking was good. Location of motel was great. We will stay here again.

« Very satisfied with this Best Western »

We stayed at the BW Plus Frontier for 2 nights. We requested a room with two queens (vs. one queen) and a room in the rear of the property. The desk clerk was accommodating and there was no extra charge. The room was quiet, clean and the beds comfortable. However, our car battery was dead the next 1st morning. One of the motel workers kindly jumped our car battery so we could drive into Lone Pine & have it replaced. The buffet breakfast was good featuring different breakfast meats each day (good crispy bacon & then sausage ) cheese omelets, cereals, juices, toast, pancakes (maker), muffins, yogurt, etc. Restaurants in Lone Pine are a bit pricey so a free breakfast is a bonus. We usually don't stay at BWs but the ratings on this motel were good. We agree.

For the price, and the location, this is a perfectly acceptable motel 1 story; easy parking; convenient location. Room was clean; bathroom was OK. Free breakfast was included. We would use this motel again.

« Been here before, will keep returning »

Excellent location for Owens Valley, Mt Wilson, Alabama Hills. Comfortable (but not large) room, fine Internet connection, generous breakfast (starting at 5 AM!), friendly staff. The view of the Sierra Nevada to the West is magnificent.

« Nice hotel on a lonely road »

This was an unexpected pleasure. Very nicely appointed rooms in a motor court layout, with good parking, though somewhat limited if you are hauling a trailer. Rooms appear to have been recently updated, with adequate outlets for all my personal electronics. Spacious, well-lit bath. A channel listing for the TV was provided, and includes HBO. The best thing is the view of sunrise on the mountains, and the breakfast room looks west to give you the view. A hot breakfast is included, and this includes at my stay cheese omelets made with real eggs, not like the pre-prepared things served at some hotel chains. They also have the plastic pancake machine, not a waffle-maker.

    « What a find! »

We were surprised to find such a nice hotel in this tiny burg in the high desert. We travel with our dog and Best Western is always accommodating. The room was large, quiet, clean and comfortable. And inexpensive! The buffet breakfast was above average, in my experience. We look forward to staying here next time we're in the area.

    « Good stopover »

We stayed here in October 2015 in a room with 2 Queen beds on route from San Fransisco to Death Valley. From this perspective the location was excellent. There are several restaurants a couple of minutes drive away in the main town. The room was a decent size and generally clean although the next morning there was an infestation of ants which we reported at checkout. The reception apologised and then got on to serving the next customer without informing the cleaning staff or making a note. The breakfast was really good. This hotel was standard Best Western fayre.

    4
    « Great Location »

This "older motel" has been kept up with renovations. Exceptionally clean room, small but efficient bathroom, new blacktop in parking area, and generous breakfast. A very convenient stop on our way north after visiting Death Valley. Although we had planned to stay for two nights (so many wonderful venues to visit), the weather forecast made it clear that if we wanted to make it over Tioga Pass or Sonora Pass we should leave a day early. As it turned out, we made it over Tioga about three hours before it closed! And, with the help of the friendly desk clerk, our cancellation for the second night was very nicely refunded.

    4
    « Pleasant Experience! »

This was a pleasant experience to find a motel on Hwy. 395 that offered the comfort level to such a good price. Staff was very friendly. Breakfast is very good too. We have no complaints albeit the bathroom door could close better and the heater/ac-unit of our room was fairly loud.

    5
« Excellent stop in Lone Pine »

Stayed two nights in order to investigate Mount Whitney Portal, the Horsheshoe meadow, and the Alabama Hills, and this hotel was great. Excellent room, drive right up, fast free wifi, guest laundry. A very good place to stay if you are doing the Death Valley tour

    5
« Best place in town! »

We stayed here while traveling from Yosemite, to Death Valley and on to Joshua Tree National Park. It is the best place to stay in the town of Lone Pine. The staff is friendly, the rooms are large, clean, well tended and they serve a lot for breakfast. If you don't like the cheese omelet, bacon and pancakes, you can settle on cereal, toast or yogurt and fruit and nuts. It is a bit of a drive to Death Valley, but we enjoyed the beauty and majesty of the whole area. About a mile away is the Visitors Center and a couple of decent restaurants which are close. It is a good value, you get a lot for the price. We often stay in Best Westerns around California and they can vary considerably, but this one is a nice find, there are no surprises. We would definitely return.

    3
« Good but pricey accomodation near Death Valley »

When you visit the Death Valley, you don't have many choices: it's either you stay in the park (and book several weeks or months ahead), or you search for an accomodation in Lone Pine or Pahrump. Coming from Vegas, se visited the park westwards and heading LA. Lone Pine was our best option. The hotel is on the main street, very easy to find. There's plenty of parking space and a small pool. Wi-fi is complimentary, and so is a hearty american breakfast with hot and cold items, both savory and sweet. Our room was clean, summer 2015 was horrible due to a bug infestation, but we couldn't find a single bug on the premises. The room was also fairly big for three adults. Service at the reception was attentive. That said, I think that 150$ for a single night, even for three adults, is too much for a motel, that's the reason for the three stars.

    5
« Wonderful find excellent value »

This has to be the best Best Western that we have stayed in. We chose a deluxe room which was huge. It was very nicely furnished and the bed was super comfortable. All the rooms are named for the movie stars from the old westerns that were filmed in the Alabama hills. The grounds were nicely done with a large pool and lots of patio furniture around the area to sit and enjoy the sun. A hot breakfast was included....definitely would stay next time on our way to Southern California.

« Typical of the inconsistent Best Western brand »

Staying at a Best Western is like a box of chocolates. I have stayed at some spectacular properties but usually shy away because you never know what you're going to get. The pick'ins are slim for brand hotels/motels in Lone Pine. So I picked this location based on the reviews. This is a throwback to the 50's and 60's travel motels with the "U" shaped courtyard with individual cottage-like separate entry rooms around the outside. Don't be driving a big truck or SUV and expect to park by your "cottage". It's a very clean place as are the rooms. But the rooms are basic overnight stays and smaller in size. My bathroom had back lighting as you stood at the wash basin so it was hard to see when grooming. I was given a handicap room for some reason where there was zero counter space in the bathroom and a hand held shower head positioned at about 4 1/2 feet high. The TV cable reception was grainy and yup, you could see the courtyard light all around the door frame from inside your room. The breakfast was the run of the mill type you typicality see with the exception of the coffee. It was terrible. The is another and newer brand motel just down the way that looked more inviting as I drove past on my way out of town. And there are some outwardly appealing locally owned non-brand motels in town. You might want to see what else appeals to you in Lone Pine but this place will do in a pinch.

« FABULOUS VALUE!!!!!!! LARGE ROOMS »

We made our reservation the night before and just wanted to try something a little less expensive than were we usually stayed- Comfort Inn in Lone Pine. This was $74 for a queen double room verses $120 at Comfort Inn. The rooms were super clean, VERY large and roomy, beds were great, bathroom was nice and big. Carpets really clean and furnishings modern and nice. Our room had a fridge(no freezing unit) and a small micro. In the morning the breakfast is GREAT!!! Little cheese omelets, bacon, muffins bagels, pancakes, toast, cereal, juices, coffee, tea, fresh fruit and the BEST breakfast room hostess you can imagine. She also works at the Comfort in and she remembered us from our trips through there. Her name is Luz... she is cheery and polite and has a great sense of humor, and keeps the food coming. They DO NOT skimp on providing the guests enough ... breakfast is from 5am to 10am. We will be making THIS out go to place in Lone Pine from now on.Every thing was great and it was a real pleasure to stay there.

    « Standard motel »

Using a motel scale for reviewing then this is about as good as it gets. Staff were friendly. WiFi was fast. Lots of cable TV. Self service breakfast was hot. Perfect for what we were looking for. Like with any motel though, a lot of the scoring is based on how obnoxious the other guests were. That was not a problem while we were here as they were all cool, laid back and not too noisy. In fact, they were all so well-behaved that we may well have been the obnoxious ones in comparison.

    4
    « Owens Valley Jewel »

This Motel is situated along side Hwy 395, with Mt. Whitney on its door step--beautiful sight. Semi-trucks and traffic go by during the day; but at night all is quiet as the small rural town sleeps early. Ask for a room further off the Hwy. if you're super sensitive to noise. The Motel is older but well maintained; and is CLEAN. A little iffy about its "PLUS" designation but still gives value to your stay. Wi-fi is typically slow but serviceable. Their People are small-town nice.

    4
« Fine hotel, with laundry »

The drive into Death Valley is scarily steep, but relaxing at the Best Western was easy. Comfy beds, pool, fitness room and an excellent breakfast made a 2nights' stay enjoyable. The cheap laundry is an asset.

    « AWESOME motel! »

One of the nicest motels we've ever been in. They allow pets which is a big plus. The people who work here are very, VERY nice. The free breakfast is very yummy. In all I'm glad that the website Bring Fido (on which this place is rated five of five bones) recommended it.

    « Climbers' Review »

After down climbing from Mt Whitney in late October, it was a pure pleasure to find a room available at the Best Western. The beds were comfortable, the water hot, and the breakfast the next morning was exceptiional. The staff helpful and pleasant. I have been climbing on Mt Whitney for over two decades and, in the future, Best Western will get my repeat business. You get what you pay for. WBL

    « A lovely surprise »

After a horrid experience in Bishop at the La Quinta a couple weeks ago I was hesitant about any place on the 395... But I have to say this was great. We needed a layover just so we could grab backcountry permits at the visitor center in the am. The hotel was renovated (our room) and very clean. The bed was comfortable and supportive, not overly soft. I have nothing bad to say! If I need a bed in Lonepine again I'm going back. Oh - the breakfast is the standard stuff but the staff was fantastic. They don't serve hot chocolate but when my daughter asked the young woman working the room went and got one of her own packets for my daughter... THANK YOU.

« Trip to So Cal »

Nice stopover to break up the drive to Orange County from Tahoe with my wife and granddaughter along. I love staying at Lone Pine, and this Hotel had a great view of the Mountains, a nice warm breakfast and clean rooms. If you are having dinner in town be sure to make reservations for the Seasons Restaurant, very good Salmon, Trout, and Steak, outstanding dinner. We awoke had breakfast, and continued on our way well rested. Very nice stay!

« Nice place to stay in Lone Pine »

We have stayed at the best Western several times over the years. In Lone Pine it is your best bet to spend the night. The hotel is basic however it does have a pool and a great hot breakfast served in the morning. We always have a great night sleep here.

« Breakfast in view of the Sierras! »

This motel has gradually and greatly improved over the years and we can say this as we have stopped here a number of times on our journeys to southern California. The breakfast offered here this time was a big surprise and a big improvement over those offered in the past. It certainly offered everything a person would wish for their first meal of the day. We wouldn't consider stopping anywhere else in Lone Pine.

    « Beautiful location »

We stay here on our frequent trips between San Diego and Tahoe. It is a quiet, well-maintained motel with a good breakfast included. Pets are welcome and it is a quick drive to the Mount Whitney trailhead where there are some short, beautiful, dog-friendly trails.

    « Surprisingly Good »

I was impressed by the attention to every detail that makes a stay at a hotel enjoyable. Fine quality beds, super-clean room, good and plentiful amenities. The complimentary breakfast was the best of our trip.

« OK stop over between Las Vegas and Yosemite »

We stayed for 1 night on the way from Las Vegas to Yosemite. We chose the Motel as it had the best rating of those available in the area. + Located conveniently between Las Vegas and Yosemite if you dont want to drive the full distance in one day + Small gym + Quiet room facing the back away from the highway + Friendly staff - Though the room looked okay clean, we woke up with bites from bed mites, i.e. the mattress definitively needs to be changed - Has no safe in the room and we did not feel comfortable leaving any valuables in the room as it is easy to break in Next time we would probably just continue the drive to Yosemite in one day which we felt we could have managed easily.

    « Didn't Sleep Well »

This hotel was absolutely wonderful, except for the actual beds. The western theme was very well done. We stayed in the Susan Hayward room, which was HUGE . . . great for a family. But the beds seem to be as old as those famous westerns. I felt like I was sleeping on a camp cot without a pad. My husband tossed and turned all night which only made my attempts to sleep worse. We love Best Western hotels, but these beds were terrible.

« Clean and comfortable with helpful staff »

The motel is in a lovely location, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and we all slept well. The buffet breakfast was also pretty good, with a fair amount of choice and decent quality on offer. Further to this, the staff were very helpful and given the bad weather that had led to park and road closures the day before, went the extra mile (pun intended) to help us check where we could go and what we could do. Lone Pine itself is a lovely little town, the centre of which is less than a mile up the road, so all in all, this is a recommended place to stay.

    « Clean and comfortable »

No complaints about this Best Western except had an issue with the washing machine. Had been backpacking for over a week and desperately needed to wash clothes and the washer did not perform well. Room was very clean, bed very comfortable. Complementary breakfast was good too. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Excellence »

This was a long trip and I stayed at several hotels. The Best Western chain offered the most consistent service. The rooms were well maintained and quiet. The staff was helpful and professional. The breakfast included a variety of offerings including eggs and bacon. The parking was ample and well designed. I decided that I would look for Best Western on my next trip and enrolled in the Rewards program.

« Beautiful view of Mt. Whitney »

I stayed here on 10/3/15. We were traveling from Las Vegas to Yosemite. On our first day we went through Death Valley and then on to stay the night in Lone Pine. This hotel was perfect! Room was clean and comfortable and perfectly accomodating for my sister, daughter and I. Sometimes when you are traveling with three, the rooms are set up for two travelers, but this room was ready for three, with three of everything! We got up before sunrise to catch Mt. Whitney as the sunshine hit it and it was so worth it. We were then treated to the perfect breakfast... eggs and pancakes (made wtih the most interesting pancake machine; never seen anything like it), plus a wide assortment of other breakfast items. Next, we were on our way to Yosemite where we caught up with some friends for a fabulous stay. Thanks to the Best Western staff for their kind and helpful nature.

    « Clean and comfortable »

Our room was immaculately clean and quite spacious, with two queen beds and still room for a sofa and coffee table. Although on the outskirts of Lone Pine it is still walking distance to eateries and the museum, and it has a beautiful outlook out over countryside and nestled in the foothills of the adjacent mountains. Laundry and the pool were both appreciated. Breakfast was standard Best Western fare and pretty good. Good value for money, situated in a lovely little town. Would definitely stay again.

« Clean, fresh hotel in a stunning location »

This is an extremely well looked after hotel with a surprisingly modern, clean interior. Our room had a king bed, fridge, table and two chairs along with the biggest bathroom we had on our California road trip. Breakfast room was busy but tables became available very quickly and the choice of food was very good. Lone Pine provided the perfect stopover location for us between LA and Mammoth Lakes. The town has a good range of shops and cafes and is right next to beautiful Mount Whitney. We arrived after dark and were blown away by the views the next morning!

« Not worth the money »

A muffin had a hair on it, the pancake machine stopped before my wife could have one, the carpet had stains, their was a noise like a coffee machine that went on the entire time, and employees seemed indifferent to the food breakfast problem.

    « Comfortable Motel »

Motel with comfortable and spacious rooms. Welcoming reception area. The disadvantage is the distance from the facilities in Lone Pine. We had been driving much of the day from the Hoover Dam area and it was a very convenient place for a stop-over. However we would have preferred to have been nearer to the restaurants, shops and other facilities. It was reasonable value for money.

    « Very enjoyable stay »

stayed for one night in mid September. Hotel was fully booked so book ahead if your heading this direction. Room was clean and comfortable. We were allocated a room which seemed to be in the older section of hotels but we were only staying over night on route to Yosemite so it was fine. If your staying longer ask for a renovated room which appear to be much nicer. Very quite hotel on edge of Lone Pine -great for a good night sleep. Excellent receptionists - Margarita Very friendly and helpful. I had left my phone charger in a previous hotel and when I enquired where I could go to buy a new one she offered to charge my mobile for me using her own charger. ? Thanks again Margarita. Nice small pool - , very useful laundry room for people on the move , - and adequate breakfast included in rate. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

« Very nice!!! Enjoyed our stay! »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western in Lone Pine. The room was spacious and very clean. The wifi was FAST! The view from our window was incredible! We were just at the edge of town and an easy drive from everything--restaurants, shopping, Alabama Hills, and the trailhead of Mount Whitney. We will be going back to Lone Pine and the Best Western! Breakfast was wonderful!

    « Best Western excels »

For Lone Pine, CA this was a pleasant surprise. Very well kept up motel, had many amenities, pool, wifi, good breakfast that went late, and very helpful staff, only dissapointment was the shower head, much too weak, even for a water saving type.

« Best Motel in Lone Pine »

Best Motel in Lone Pine. Very clean and the rooms are large and comfortable. The morning breakfast beat my expectations and there was room for many guests to sit. From the front of the motel you can see Mt Whitney off in the distance.

    « Wonderfully built motel »

I believe this motel was built years ago when construction was done in a manner that has been discontinued. The motel was completely booked, yet we heard not one sound from neighbors, I suspect due to the solid old-fashioned construction of walls. Our room was the most spacious I have seen in a "regular" motel room; It was a large as what some places call a suite. The room was clean. Color scheme of room and public rooms of the motel was tasteful. Breakfast had both cold and hot choices, including a unique make-your-own pancake machine. There is a self service laundry. Staff at the desk is very gracious. I highly recommend the motel, especially if you are staying overnight to see the nearby Ancient Bristlecone pines. There is a nice little Movie Museum for those interested in old western/cowboy movies; fee of $5.00.

    « Comfortable overnight stop »

Decent motel with an ok breakfast. Stayed for one night on way to Yosemite. The room was spacious and relatively modern with a large TV and wifi. Was slightly let down by room cleanliness but other than that I had a good night.

« Great clean newly renovated hotel in Lone Pine. »

We stayed here while we were in Lone Pine to hike and climb Mt Whitney. The hotel is conveniently located to Portal Rd. The hotel looks and feels like an old time motel i might have stayed in with my parents in the 70s although i think it may be older than that. The hotel was completely updated soon before we arrived so all new bathrooms, carpets and furnishings. We were very pleasantly surprised thinking it would be a worn out motel but it was very clean and fresh looking and it was wonderful to come back after a long day and be able to clean up, rest and relax on a nice firm bed with new bedding. I highly recommend it!

    « Comfortable and quiet »

To be honest, we haven't stayed at any other hotel in Lone Pine during our many visits here. Why try something new when you're completely satisfied with what you've got?! Okay, they could stand to update the decor a little, but the service and the room comfort are what bring us back.

« One of the most beautiful locations in the world. »

Eat a good breakfast andswim in the seasonally heated pool looking up at the highest mountain in the Sierra Nevada (and the USA excluding Alaska). Rooms are comfortable and well appointed; the site is beautifully kept and everywhere has been spotless every visit in the 18 years we have been coming to the area. Pick up the suggested visit sheets for trips in the immediate vicinity, especially the one taking you to the locations used in cowboy films. For the committed hiker, it is a comfortable start and end for the trek up Mount Whitney

    « Great Location & Comfortable Bed »

Staff is very friendly. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Lone Pine is so beautiful this time of year with all the fall colors. The free breakfast was good and well presented. My only complaint was we wanted to stay one more night and there were no more rooms available.

    « Nice Hotel »

Although an older hotel rooms are renovated and looking good. All rooms groundfloor. Very friendly staff, nice outdoor pool. Some chairs in garden for outdoor sitting at night. Breakfast was included and very good. Free wifi
