    « very pleasantly surprised »

Small hotel but very nice. Rooms are great especially the family room ..we had 2 boys with us and they got a bed each plus we had a kingsize bed and still loads of room. The shower was brilliant great pressure and the bath filled in minutes with lovely hot water. The boys always like a bubble bath after swimming and they were not disappointed. The pool was great.... also kiddies pool and toys provided to play with ..very nice touch. Staff were polite and very helpful. We had a wowcher voucher and got a great deal with a meal included...2 courses plus a free bottle of wine....all excellent.

    « Amazing Deal »

I just back from a girls weekend in the White Horse Hotel and it was fabulous. We got a deal for 2 nights b&b, one dinner, pre-dinner cocktail, bottle of prosecco, 30min massage and a £25 foyleside voucher. We also were able to upgrade the massage with a dermalogica facial for only £20. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating especially Simon who checked us in. The room was lovely and spacious. The hotel appears to be being refurbished in parts, the reception had been done and the section of the hotel we were in had also been but the section between reception and out end was a it dates but very clean. The food was lovely, great breakfast and dinner. The spa was fabulous and I had one of the best massages I have ever had. Everyone was so friendly and they were very accommodating as I was breastfeeding and needed to store my pumped milk which was absolutely no bother. The deal was fabulous, the staff were all lovely and we will most definitely be back.

« Good hotel, good location, good facilities »

I booked 2 double non smoking rooms. However one smelt very badly of smoke. I asked reception if they would spay some air freshener, which they did, but even the next morning the smell was very strong. We ate in the restaurant and had a fantastic meal.

Good choice and good quality . Ate again in bar 2nd night different meal and still good quality value and flavour. Breakfast 2nd morning same as day before. « Brillant stay »

We are just back from staying two nights at the Best Western White Horse Hotel and it was Brillant!!! We could have stayed on!! Hotel is lovely, well lit, pool is great and gym is great also. And the food .... We had the best meal we have EVER had on Friday night in the restaurant - it was superb!! Would be worth going back for the meal alone. Handy to Londonderry, lovely shop opposite, just lovely and relaxing, will definitely be back!! Staff very friendly as well

    « Hotel overnight stay »

Really friendly staff, great facilities and swimming pool and welcoming accommodation. In the morning when we came down to the restaurant, the staff were really friendly and catered to all of our needs. They were always trying to help improve our experience at the White Horse hotel. Well worth a visit~even just for an overnight stay it is well worth your time and money.

    « Brilliant »

Another wonderful stay here again, the food was amazing in the restaurant, & the bar staff attentive ( especially James, ) nothing too much trouble, great service. It was great to sit in the lounge after dinner with a beautiful fire, just watching the world go by.

« Nice hotel, dissapointing stay »

I recently attended this hotel for an evening function and decided to include an overnight stay. Hotel was nice room was clean. greeted by friendly reception staff. However very rude female member of staff from the restaurant made it very clear that we would not be able to have hot food from the restaurant at 21.30, not a very nice experience. after which we decided to go to the bar and was greeted with a rude member of bar staff . As a result of this we did not include breakfast in our stay. Will not be returning

    « Great value »

Nice clean and tidy hotel , very friendly staff and good value for money The restaurant was brilliant only let down by the speed off service once they got busy , but the quality of food was not effected Nice sized family room Good nights sleep

« Good welcome, average breakfast »

Popped in for breakfast after dropping off family at City of Derry airport before the shops opened. It is what you would expect of a hotel breakfast with the following notable points: 1. It was more expensive than some. 2. The choice was quite limited. 3. The hot food was good even though from a buffet and there was even black and white pudding. 4. It is only a couple of miles from the airport.

    4
« Good Location to Belfast »

We arrived at this hotel in a tiredness afternnon, so we really needed a restful bedroom. We stayed there September 2016, it was very good, clean bedrooms and bathroom as well. The location is excellent if you wanna go to Belfast. I recommend.

« Customer Service is alive and well! »

Visited this hotel on their 'Here come the girls' package and had a wonderful time. Room was spacious, well laid out and thoughtful as 3 glasses, etc had been supplied (we were 3 in one room) as well as 3 robes and slippers! Pool was busy with children's lessons but we still enjoyed it and the Sauna, Steam Room. Our Therapist for our 30 min treatment was just lovely and what a great back, shoulders and neck massage! Food in the restaurant was delicious - our 4 course included meal had a good range of dishes to choose from. But the cream of it all was the staff - they were ALL lovely, polite and very genuinely caring. Particularly the young girl on duty at the pool - she was wonderful. Thank you for a wonderful break.

« Where not to stay in derry »

I will start by saying if you wish to visit the beautiful city of derry then do not stay here it's not near the town centre it's not even close ! The only thing it's remotely near is a field of cows and a continual faint waft of cow manure that greets you every morning.the hotel room although clean has a bath the size fit for only a small infant! And if you wish for a shower then good luck I presume they intend for you to clean the entire room whilst your in there. All of us enjoy room service on holiday.personally would prefer if the staff didn't persist to keep entering my room first thing in the morning eager to turn my bed down before I've left it!! Word of advice to anyone who's modest they enter the room first then knock.so if u don't wish ur naked self to be seen then get dressed in the bathroom with the damp floor from ur shower, or be like me and bare all to the room staff. This hotel is more suited to funerals and conferences and you are felt to feel so on your stay.just to add free WiFi is free because it doesn't work so don't try. Lastly I will warn you of the food here and am gratefull I only dined on the day before I left ireland.i had the worst food poisoning from my meal of fishcakes and spent the last day of my holiday attached to the toilet of the hotel.whilst in there thinking why oh why I heard my neighbour proudly removing his dinner down the toilet via vomiting like nobody I had ever heard before. My advice is do not stay here do not eat here and do not be fooled by the location.my trip to derry was the most amazing experience and I can't wait to return.my trip to this hotel was the worst experience of staying anywhere steer clear all

    5
    « Lovely hotel »

We stayed here for one night, we had requested an easy access room as I`m registered blind and the hotel accommodated us our room was lovely very spacious, on the ground floor and right opposite the leisure facilities. We ate here and the food was first class as was the service. The only fault is we couldn't enjoy the pool as there was swimming lessons on all Sunday afternoon. It was very noisey + children were jumping + diving into the pool right above your head

« Excellent hotel for business trip »

Great location for me when I work in the industrial estate beside it. Stayed for 2 nights, breakfast was good, dinner on the 1 night was also enjoyable. The menu was limited so we headed to Derry for dinner on the 2nd night. The room was clean and the wifi was good. I would stay here again. The price paid was excellent value.

    5
« Nice clean well presented hotel with great staff and superb menu »

even though my wife and I live only a few miles from the hotel, this was a special occasion, our 33 wedding anniversary so we decided to stay where it all started. Our room was a suite and while we've stayed in larger suites, this was completely adequate. The receptionist, Gill, could not have been more helpful, pleasant and profession. we booked into the dining room for 6pm for our pre booked 3 course meal. The restaurant staff were fantastic but the meal was superb. we started with chicken liver pate, the wife had salmon and I had the most amazing chicken tikka masala, overall, I cannot fault anything!

    4
    « Dining »

I have been to this hotel now for lunch 3 times and dinner once. I was really pleasantly surprised. The lunch menu is very comprehensive and gives you what you ask for without unnecessary extras that then get wasted. The food has always been very fresh and hot and thoroughly enjoyable. The restaurant is open all day until (I think( 9.30 pm), which is great if you decided to dine last minute. Staff are very helpful and accommodating and overall a really nice experience. Good job.Next I have to try the breakfast.

    3
« Friendly staff and clean rooms. »

We stayed for two nights. The staff were all very pleasant and check in etc was quick and easy. Only problem was the noise during the night. If we're to rate the hotel based on how we slept, it'd be a 1! There was a wedding and hen night and being in rooms 102 & 103 EVERYONE had to pass our doors and people were chatting and standing outside and shouting and running up and down all night! Finished at 6.15am. We know the staff can't police the type of clientele they have, but the logical thing would be to book non wedding/hen people into the rooms at the back and away from the lobby area!

    5
    « Spa weekend »

All the staff were very friendly and helpful. Really enjoyed the spa, we had booked a couple of treatments. The therapists were excellent. David at the spa really made our stay he couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed our stay. The food was lovely all staff were very attentive even though they were very busy. Rooms were very comfy and clean

« Great Venus for conference »

We had a great day out with 75 other women. Enjoyed flower arranging, Cookery demo from the hotel chef, hilarious Scarf tying and a delicious lunch. Staff were so helpful. Venue was terrific. Facilities such as acoustics and projection were also proviided.

    « a friendly staffed hotel »

my wife and i needed a shortbreak and we booked this hotel for two nights.from the minute we checked in the staff made you feel totally at home.room was so clean and the bed gave me 2 off the best sleeps i have had in years.food at breakfast and in the evening was excellent.best thing about our stay was it was just like being at home.well done to all the staff,we will return.

« Good Place out of Derry »

This hotel is out of Derry but the price is reasonable, easier to find, quiet place, good service in the hotel. The room and bed were confortable and clean. Breakfast in the mornig was good and various. The hotel has parking. This my review is about the hotel the restaurant is different. If you choose this hotel you'll know the hotel is located near motorway and there isn't anything around, you have to use the car. The Wi.fi is free and quite fast

    3
    « A good standard. »

This was a very comfortable hotel for a night. I was surprised to find it quite so far outside the city, but the reasonable price for the room and the set course dinner more than made up for it! And, unbeknownst to me, there is a leisure centre, too!

    2
« Poor service, no guidance for staff. »

Very poor service, food average, beef very good, carrots good, starter good. Eldest daughter asked for aioli on the side....impossible because it's included . The ham was very salty, suggesting that it hadn't been brined. My biggest complaint was walnuts in the chocolate brownie.....not mentioned on the menu and the staff hadn't a clue. I'm allergic to walnuts and thankfully only ingested a very small amount. Waiting staff seemed to have no concept of the dangers. When I complained while paying the young man discounted one sweet....not impressed. My youngest daughter complained at the check in desk where they were in the process of printing new menus but one would have thought that in this day and age of information, this should have been done when the sweet was put on the menu. Forget about the fact that I've never experienced walnuts in a brownie. I don't think I or my family will be back. Very poor for a 4 star hotel.

    « Nice place »

Good hotel very clean can't fault the rooms they are very well done comfortable an clean . Had food in bar both nights I stayed here very good both times .Lovely gym here with very friendly staff more than helpful to help you with your workout . Not to far from the city an plenty of room to park so all in all a very nice place to stay .

    « Very disappointing »

Very slow service even for the basics like drinks. We were there for Sunday lunch and although the starter was good the rest of the food was average. There was a lack of information on the menu, my Dad ordered the chocolate brownie for dessert and discovered that there were walnuts in it and that was not mentioned on the menu. The staff were unapologetic about the fact that he could have had a severe reaction to this and seemed extremely unorganised and unmanaged in the restaurant. Our party originally had six guests but dropped to 5 however when we checked the bill when we arrived home, we had been charged for 6 people. Will never be back and cannot understand how the place was ever given 4 stars!

    « Pleasantly surprised...fab hotel »

My fiancée and I stayed in the White Horse for 2 reasons...one to check it out as a wedding venue and two to get a night away from the kids on a spa night. The entrance isn't very much to look in truth but when you go in to the reception you're very pleasantly surprised...it's very light and spacious and the staff are very very pleasant, professional, friendly, welcoming and very accommodating. The room itself was very spacious, very well done up and cleaned to the highest standard I'm sure. The bed was very comfy and it had the usual bells and whistles. The spa and leisure facilities are fabulous...we were attended to by Sandra and she was brilliant at making you feel welcome and relaxed...brilliant and the pool was lovely and clean. The restaurant I've already made my review on...it was out of this world....the food and service was excellent and surpassed what we expected. Based on all the observations we had on the night stay and the wedding fayre we are delighted to say we are going to hold our wedding there. Many thanks for the wonderful stay!

    « Won't rush back »

Service very slow and it was not busy so there really was no excuse for the length of time we had to wait. Food much too expensive. Presentation poor. Having said that the chicken Gordon's I ordered were really good. Garlic fries and chips were also good. I won't rush back but I will try it again sometime in the future.

    « function »

Over this past two months we have attended the White Horse for three of our work functions. Two were retirement doos and the other was a leaving do. From our initial contact with the hotel we could only say everything was exceptional. The staff were friendly, professional, supportive and offered advice in regard to the arrangements. We had separate area in the dinning room which provided us with some privacy but also allowed us to enjoy the atmosphere of the restaurant. We were able to pre-book our meal and our meal was served at the time specified. The food was delicious. We could not fault any aspect of our evenings in the White Horse and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to plan an event in lovely hotel with convenient parking and professional and friendly staff. We would like to thank Emma Functions manager for all her help and advice and of course to Monica Restaurant Manger and her staff who ensured we had a wonderful evening.

    « Bank Holiday Weekend »

I booked this stay through booking.com for a night away with my family. On booking this, it had stated that breakfast was included, only to arrive and at Reception I was told I had no meal plan with my booking. I was confused as it clearly said upon selecting my dates 'breakfast included' 'book now pay later'. Reservations explained to me that these were in fact filters that's you had to select. Perhaps they should reword this on the site as 'Please click here if you wish to add breakfast' and not 'breakfast included' as to me 'breakfast included' means 'breakfast included'. This matter was resolved but I just wanted to highlight to others this issue. It's funny as I didn't need to click the other filter of 'book now pay later' and this still stood? Also the images advertised are very misleading as the rooms looked to be new and refurbished when in fact they are old and dated with wifi not strong enough at the very back of the hotel, which is where we were placed. The bathroom was ok but the radiator was rusting away. The saying is true, you get what you pay for, so if your looking for a bed for the night whilst on the road then it's ideal :)

discovered by accident as we couldnt get where we originally intended to go , food and staff were brill , pool , sauna gym all great . easy to find , great location for discovering north coast . cant wait to return and try more of the food menu! oh and the irish ale is a must try !

    « Highly Recommend »

My wife and I stayed at the hotel earlier this month. We are traveling around Ireland and was planning our trip when a lovely lady, Jessica, recommended places to go and things to see. The service was fantastic. Jessica ensured that we always had drinks and we were happy with our food shortly after it arrived. The food was fabulous, I could not fault it. Even with a large group in the other side of the restaurant our food as quick and the staff were attentive. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone. The restaurant, the staff and the rooms are difficult to fault. I will definitely be returning if we were to find ourselves in the area again.

    « 2 Day Spa Break »

Had a fabulous 2 day spa break at the White Horse Hotel in Londonderry. This break included a four course evening meal which was superb. It also included a head, back and shoulder massage in their fabulous spa area. The hotel also includes a pool and well equipped gym, only used the gym on this visit but will be back.

    « Spa day & afternoon tea »

We had a lovely day at White Horse Hotel for spa & afternoon tea. We both had a back massage & reflexology plus use of pool facilities. The pool area is a bit dated & could use a touch up. The afternoon tea was lovely with a great selection. And the prosecco was the best I have tasted. The staff were all great, friendly & helpful. Looking forward to returning.

    « Perfect residence »

Staying at your hotel was excellent and shall be doing so in the future. we have stayed with you some period past. Car parking was convient and safe and booking an early call was no problem. the location is perfect being outside the city is most preferable. Doctor McColgan and Dianna McColgan

    « Wedding »

Had my wedding here at end of may. Top class service amazing food great price. The staff were amazing from our booking date right up until we checked out. Would highly recommend. Thank you to issam romona and the team for making our day so special.

    2
    « Not too great »

Stayed one night, a very dated hotel, with dated bathrooms. Unless one wants to travel you have to eat in the hotel. Dinner was ok, but not great value, and bar food stops at 7.00 pm. Broadband was most unreliable and often none existent. Will do my best not to stay again.

    4
    « Nice »

We were staying at the Best Western White Horse Hotel, and our room was fairly spacious and overall nice. The bathroom seemed nicely updated. We didn't have any complaints about our stay, and we would be likely to choose them again.

« Great Girlie Spa Break »

My friend and I booked "Here come the girls" spa break and from the moment we arrived until we left we could not find fault with this hotel. The staff were extremely helpful especially Simon in reception and Hassan in the restaurant. We had use of the pool, sauna and steamroom before our fantastic massage in the spa. Later we enjoyed our complimentary cocktails before going to the restaurant where we also had a complimentary glass of wine with our 4 course meal. The choice of food and the service was excellent. I would recommend this deal for any girls looking for a relaxing night away.

    « Expected more from a Best Western + »

We had overnight stay here as part of our organized coach bus tour. The room was sufficiently comfortable, although internet connectivity was very slow, even in the lobby area. Our tour group was almost 50 people and we had an included dinner at the restaurant here. It took over two hours for everyone to be served. Breakfast was not any better. Many of us came to the dining area right at 7 a.m. (when breakfast was served) and the restaurant quickly ran out of items, such as the eggs and bacon. The potato pancakes were delicious, though. here are no pubs or restaurants nearby within walking distance, so the only alternative is to dine at the in-house restaurant. It just seemed that the White Horse Hotel was not prepared to accommodate this many people at one time, which is disappointing. T

« Clean hotel but isolated »

Hotel is nice, located just off the. Motorway. Only hotel restaurant so have to drive 2 miles to get a selection of eating places. Room clean, staff friendly. Fitness centre with gym, pool and hot tub attached. Wifi not very strong.

    « Enjoyable Stay. »

Myself and the wife stayed here last Thursday and enjoyed it very much. The Hotel is about a 7 - 10 min drive from Derry City and located on the duel carriageway beside the Campsey roundabout. We had a Family room which was spacious with a king sized bed and two single beds, en-suite was very clean and well kept, it had both a shower and bath. I would say the rooms were bigger than both Jury's and Premier inn. The food was very good indeed. There is a very good gym, as well as a pool, steam room(which was not working on our visit) and a sauna. There is ample car-parking. The staff were very nice and friendly. I will definitely go back again.

    5
    « Great Lunch »

Had a lunch here with work friends and what a meal. Great buffet staff were friendly and a friend beside me who is ceolic was very well accomated and vegetarians had a choice. Will be back. The Roast was cooked to perfection and good choice of deserts.

    « Nice Location »

We stayed at the Best Western White Horse as part of a group and we had a nice stay. The hotel is located just outside of Derry and a good location for touring. Plenty of coach parking and easy access to the hotel for a large or small coach. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. We asked for a fan to help cool our room and one was available. The room we had was small but comfortable. Freshly made shortbread biscuits were with the tea service - and they were lovely. Our room was made smaller as we had an extra small bed to accommodate our boys - but we had plenty of room and we were only there to sleep. Rooms were clean and comfy. We felt safe and secure there and if I was traveling alone, I would stay there. Pool and fitness areas were nice - our boys used the pool area one evening. The restaurant was nice, The food was very nice. The roast beef was some of the most tender and delicious beef I have had in a long time. Bar food was nice too from what my boys had and they had plenty to eat. There is nothing really in walking distance as far as shops or anything, but some areas where you can go for a walk after dinner. It would be a great stop for a business traveler or for folks who have transportation. Good central location! We would most definitely return.

    5
    « Enjoyed our stay. »

We enjoyed our stay at this Best Western. The hotel is located just outside of the town of Derry. There was plenty of free parking. The young girl at check in was very friendly. The room was great. It was clean and big. The bed was comfortable and the in room Internet worked great. There is a nice restaurant in the hotel. The food was very good. Checkout was easy. We would stay here again.

    « Disappointing carvery »

I had stopped at this hotel with a tour group last year for coffee and scones and was impressed with the service etc, so decided to stop with my family for lunch last monday. We decided to take the carvery , which unfortunately was the worse carvery I have ever had, the choice was ham, dried up regenerated stuffed turkey covered in dried up gravy, dried up pork with onions on top, one choice of veg, creamed potatoes or white cubed potatoes which werent cooked properly. We were the first to be served and all of the food was luke warm. the waitress heard us commenting that it wasnt warm and offered to heat it up, I dread to think what the customers after us were given.Unfortunately my aunt who was paying for it would not let me complain at the time but I felt that you should be aware that your carvery is definitely not 4 star standard.

« Exceeded expectations on service and food »

I am lucky enough to work in the food industry and travel a lot in the UK and Ireland for work, so have a great experience of hotels, service and out-of-home food. I stayed overnight in the Best Western hotel and had minimal expectations on my trip, as Best Westerns can sometimes be hit and miss. Note, I stayed in the hotel in January this year and have only just got chance to review the excellent service and food here. I was really overjoyed by the service, I love that feeling you get when someone goes over and above their call of duty and the man on reception certainly did. He helped source me toothbrush, and hair product that I had left behind. It sounds like a small thing but the manner in which he did so was genuine! The food was exceptional. It was Indian themed, and the cod dish I had was amazing! The sauce had delicate spices and fresh flaky cod with added little Indian deconstructed bhaji was like something I'd never had before. I bumped into the chef at reception and congratulated him on his good work. I have rebooked to stay here again on 29th June it was such a good place. ? Hopefully the service and food was as good as last time.

« Country location, handy for the city. »

Decided to stay here on my visit to Londonderry as I wanted to be near the city but in the country. The hotel is quite nice and the reception area modern and airy. Check in was efficient and friendly. We had rooms 211 and 212 - both were identical. The rooms are spacious and there is plenty of laying out space. There is a flat screen TV, drawers, queen sized bed, table chairs, safety deposit box, wardrobe. The bathroom is quite modern but I didn't like the bath/shower as the water flow - on the hot tap - was quite slow( the water was boiling though). All in all a decent nights sleep. BIG beef was thta the continental breakfast which was not included in the room price - was really poor. Most of the food was gone and to be honest there was not much quality there. The music was just awful!

    « Beautiful for Weddings »

My friend recently had her wedding in The White Horse, and what a day it was! Everything was perfect, and the staff really went the extra mile to provide an excellent service. We stayed overnight, and found our room comfortable, spacious and clean. Breakfast in the morning was delicious - and restaurant staff very helpful. Special mention to Jill on Reception, and also Ramona who were fantastic!

    5
    « Excellent »

This a quality hotel, the restaurant service and food was excellent. The room was clean and comfortable. Only one minor thing, the bathroom was a little small. I did not expect this standard from a Best Western, as I have stayed in others which were not so good. Well done White Horse

Stayed here over valentine's Weekend. Lovely hotel...rooms are clean and spacious with modern decor. Bathrooms have everything you need and are spotless. Only down side we had was the service in the restaurant....1st night they got my partners order wrong and 2nd night they forgot about our deserts. Anyway overall we had a great time...we didn't use the leisure facilities so can't comment on them.

« Very good hotel and friendly staff »

Stayed for two night, and used the gym and pool on the second evening. Wish I had used them on the first evening as well. Very well fitting out gym and nice sized pool with sauna. Hotel Reception and staff helpful and pleasant. Room was very nice and clean. Bed and pillows both firm and clean, the pillows are a nice change from a lot of Hotels who think marshmallow like pillows are acceptable. Dinner and breakfast were both very good, the restaurant and bar staff were all very helpful and attentive. The only reason I have not given the Hotel 5 stars is the Internet access. The only place that there was a strong, consistent service was in the Reception area. In the bar, restaurant and especially the room the WiFi signal was next to useless. I was informed that this is being looked at, so maybe it will be get better soon.

    « Not 4 star for me »

First point for anybody using a GPS is not to put in Clooney Road to find this place but Donnybrewer Road! Located off a motorway the location is not very picturesque. Rooms are small and cramped. Breakfast was poor for the price in the morning. Overall very underwhelmed.

« Really good hotel, food is gorgeous! »

Stayed here with my family and we had a lovely stay. Food was absolutely gorgeous and staff were lovely! Our room was a little dark but it had everything we needed so we were happy. It's the perfect hotel if you want somewhere outside the city and I would definitely stay here again.

Went for girlie stay with my daughters. We had a dinner, bed and breakfast break with a beauty treatment. Spa staff and facilities excellent. Hotel staff so friendly and helpful. The food good and value for money. Definitely will return!

    « fantastic stay »

Stayed here 3 weeks ago, myself and my partner for 2 night break. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Are 1st room was not what we had expected and I think the staff member had seen the disappointment in are faces and came back to the room with a offer of an other room has soon as we seen the new room we were over the moon with it. The bar was llovely and staff was very friendly enjoyed a lovely strawberry daiquiri and a few glasses of wine. The restaurant food was amazing. All in all I didn't want to go home. Will definitely go back.

Nice clean hotel. Very friendly staff in all departments of the hotel. Good food especially breakfast. Quiet room and very comfortable beds. I'm a clean freak so checked the bedlinen. Absolutely spotless.

Good hotel with lovely staff. Had a restaurant meal which was both lovely and good value Breakfast not to good. Great if you like deep fried potato bread, mushrooms and white/black pudding. I prefer shallow frying pan and some fried soda wud have been great! Hotel only 10 mins in car to city centre. Will b back in May without the breakfast!

    « Excellent »

Stay here for one night as a group of 3, arrival very straight forward and welcoming. Rooms were clean and tidy. Went to the bar after food service had finished but we were still served. Food was outstanding. Stayed in the bar and enjoyed the entertainment. We had a 5.30am start, the night porter had made the three of us a full breakfast and nothing was a problem. Outstanding service from all the staff we met. If only all hotels where like this !

We stayed here in 1980 and rooms have changed very little OK as a budget hotel but not priced accordingly, bed comfortable and warm. Meal ok but expensive wifi only work some times I will stay elsewhere next time in area,

    « Left feeling misled »

Booked a package to get away for one day of walking and visiting family after comparing with other establishments. According to website a four course meal with bottle of wine was included in the package and this looked pretty competitive. At the end of the meal were presented with a bill for the difference with a voucher none of the staff cared to mention. We tried to clarify at check out but the Manager did not even attempt to apologise for what at best was a misunderstanding and at worst misrepresentation . The food was actually very good though the service unimpressive but what spoiled it for us was the feeling to have been taken advantage of. The room was spacious but cold. Could not use the safe as locked. The gym looked impressive. The pool facilities looked bland and in need of TLC and the female changing was out of order. All in all I seriously doubt we will be back.

stopped here short notice on a very wet and windy (sleet and hail to boot) work trip. Very friendly staff, cracking chat off the barman, food was very good and very reasonable. Rooms were clean, modern and comfortable.

« Excellent two night stay »

Great two night stay at this hotel. Swimming pool and spa facilities good. Rooms clean. Food good and staff friendly. Great value hotel break. A nice distance from the city centre - excellent packages available. Would recommend.

« Good base for touring Donegal & Antrim »

Our room was well sized & comfortable although the bathroom was squat especially the shower unit which was barely functional. Staff were very friendly and the leisure facilities were better than expected. As regards the hotel location, it's far from a hop and skip to Derry city itself, but it is perfectly located for visiting Malin Head, Portrush, Giants causeway, etc.

    « Weekend break »

Stayed last weekend and had a great time from the lovely room delicious food and the fabulous friendly staff who couldn't do enough for us we will return. Although it is out of the centre it is a direct road into city centre and only took 10 mins or so. Pack a swimsuit the leisure facilities where excellent ????

    « Great Hotel »

My wife and I took our 4 children to the White Horse for one night and were not disappointed. I have previously stayed there on business and have always found the staff very kind, friendly but not over bearing. The food is first class and well portioned. We used the leisure facilities which were more than adequate. The only criticism I would have is that when you are booking online you confirm a price, only to be contacted the following day to inform you that your reservation would be an extra £30. We paid £119 for two adults and four children plus the extra £30 which totalled £149. So it can be quite expensive also taking into consideration a family meal in the restaurant and a few night caps. But overall very good albeit expensive. Maybe the management would consider family deals.

After a long, long day. we found this amazing hotel and their staff. We arrived late and not only did they find room for the three of us, but they opened the kitchen and prepared us a simple delicious snack. Breakfast was good.

« Here come the girls »

I arranged this package for myself and my friends and for £80 each for cocktail on arrival, 30 min facial, 4 course meal with glass of bubbly, bed and breakfast I was well impressed. The value was amazing. Resturant staff were so friendly. The only thing I would have any issues with is being offered a mijito without mint... as it was being poured from a premixed pouch. Since my cocktail was free I wouldn't worry too much. However when buying my own drink I'd be a bit disappointed with this, thats why we stuck with the fuzzy navel cocktails which were tasty. I'll be back, highly recommend this package.

    « Very comfortable bed »

We enjoyed our stay but there is couple of things I would change. What I missed was Spa menu in the room. I wanted to book a treatment but by the time I decided to go downstairs to the reception to see the menu, the Spa was closed. It would be nice to have at least some idea what treatments are on offer in the room file. Also the wifi was hit and miss. The on site restaurant had very good and efficient staff but unfortunately there was only two vegetarian options (pasta and halloumi). The halloumi was very tasty but as we stayed for two nights, we eat in a restaurant close by the second night as I did not feel like having pasta and did not want to have halloumi two days in the row. Also they had a young boy playing piano on the night we visited, and he was very good. It was lovely to hear live music, just 'loud' enough not to disturb conversation. Our bed was very comfortable and all the staff were great so if we are again in the area, we would not hesitate to stay here again.

    4
    « Great Lunch »

I stopped here for lunch recently while on business. It was very pleasant, well presented, well cooked, well priced and well served. I would not hesitate to stop by again. I didn't stay overnight so can't comment but if I ever have the need to, I will.

    5
    « Spa break »

We had an over night stay for me and my mummy, a spa treatment each, 4 course evening meal and a shopping centre voucher. The staff couldn't have been any more helpful or nicer. Food was second to none. Live music in the bar. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Would defo recommend. Will be back again soon. Thank you.

    « AMAZING AFTERNOON TEA!!! »

One of the best and most filling afternoon tea's I have had! You get loads for what you pay. Staff I have to say were very friendly and attentive. Our afternoon tea was served in the lovely foyer looking out over a little side garden.

« Didn't get the room that I had booked »

I had booked a Deluxe executive room and we got a double standard room which i was very disappointed. I went 2 reception 2 say so and i was told that is was a deluxe room IT WASN'T!!! The room we got was ok so i let it go over my head. Also every morning when we went 4 breakfast we were told we were room only, which we weren't. Food in the restaurant was way over priced. Also on arriving when you enter the main door there was no sign 2 say where reception was as you are greeted with 2 large doors. We also went 2 get ourselves book in for a beauty treatment, but we were told that i had 2 ring David myself 2 book us in as the beauty staff r not on site so we just didn't bother, Goodness they mustn't need the trade.

First time at this hotel, from the moment we arrived everything was positive. Carvery lunch was excellent considering the number catered for. Our room was very good, clean, fresh and nothing extra required. Breakfasts on both days were hot, fresh and ample. Our evening meal again excellent prompt service and attentive staff. The staff throughout the hotel were very helpful and well mannered. We will certainly return to this hotel

« Not the Best anymore! »

Stayed here on the Sparkle offer and having been here on numerous other breaks had no qualms or worries about returning. Oh dear, now while the and good standard of house keeping is maintained the restaurant service was a circus. My seafood chowder arrived just tepid, letting it down. Main course came with cold champ and cold gravy with a skin on it. Time for dessert and time came and went for us and 3 other guests who waited 20minutes on it being plated up. We had all ordered the cheese cake eventually theirs came.. but then we were told after another 10 minutes they had run out! They did provide alternatives from A La Carte and were glad as the other 3 guests said theirs was awful. As a gesture we all treated to a glass of Prosecco. Gave up on the tea and coffee as it had obviously been forgotten about. After asking I was brought a single cup of tea, no sugar or anything else. We had such a laugh with the other 3 guests saying we might as well just sleep at our table as it was nearly time for breakfast. This restaurant used to be run with precision and flare sadly its all gone, and we decided after an uninspiring breakfast our Best Western days are over.

« Second visit not as good »

My partner and i visited in the summer for an overnight stay and were very impressed by the hotel. Very clean, modern rooms. Excellent friendly staff, we used the pool and leisure facilities and ate in the restaurant, the food was amazing and we loved the cocktails. We used the taxi service and the hotel supplied us with vouchers which was a bonus. The breakfast was buffet style and although was only served til 10am we couldn't fault it. We went home and raved about the hotel. So getting the opportunity to book again we jumped at the chance, this time we booked a package through the website directly which included a 4 course evening meal bottle of wine, breakfast and use of leisure facilities for 99pound which is a great offer. Unfortunately the taxi firm no longer does the vouchers to and from the hotel so about seven pound in a taxi from town/station. Check in was friendly whic was good, we were in room 201, standard double which was smallish but well decorated and for the most part clean, we did notice a few cobwebs and a bit of wallpaper peeling off, just general wear and tear. Once checked in we went down to the pool, unfortunately there was kids swimming lessons on which took up the majority of the pool and was very noisy so we thought we'd just come back in an hour as the pool opens till 7pm but we were informed there was lessons on all evening. Very disappointing as the use of the leisure facilities was the main reason we choose to come back to this hotel instead of a city centre one. We decided to sample some cocktails before dinner, the first one pearl harbour was lovely but the second golden cadillac definitely wasn't made correctly and didn't taste great. Dinner was lovely, and the bottle of wine was a bonus. We had a restless nights sleep being at the front of the corridor we heard quite a few doors banging and guest coming back to their room and the room beside us was banging around quite late. There was a strange ticking/cracking noise thoughout the night, at first i thought it was the radiator heating up but i think it was either the window or just the walls, if ur a deep sleeper u probably won't notice it but as a light sleeper it drove me insane. The pillows were a bit hard for my liking too but they do have others available on request. The shower isn't great, small shower head that you can't detach with low pressure but nice bathroom with shampoo shower gel etc supplied. Breakfast this time was good, selve self continental and order of a menu cooked breakfast served with tea or coffee. We requsted a slightly later check out at 1pm rather than noon which was granted 4 no extra charge. All in all a lovely, clean, friendly hotel but a disappointing stay for us in comparison to our last stay. For that reason we probably won't be returning.

    « Brilliant overnight stay »

We stayed here on Saturday 20th February for one night on a Girls Spa Break package for my sisters birthday and it was worth every single penny!! Staff were fantastic - all very welcoming, friendly and very helpful!! We had a cocktail on arrival (lovely), dinner in the restaurant (fantastic) and when the staff found out we were here for a birthday they brought a cake out and sang happy birthday!! We then stayed in the bar for karaoke for the evening! On the Sunday we had breakfast and then spent the remainder of the morning in the swimming pool, steam room and sauna with a massage in the middle of this! there was no rush to leave our rooms! Before we left we had a carvery in the restaurant! the food was great , entertainment great, staff great and spa facilities great I would definitely recommend this hotel to all Thanks for making it a great weekend

We stayed in the Hotel for two nights booking in on a Wednesday and leaving on Friday. From the moment of arrival to checking out we were treated like VIPs! The room was immaculate and had lovely decor. Of course there were the usual free toiletries, tea and coffee making facilities etc. The towels in the beautiful bathroom were massive as well as fluffy! Maid service was daily! In the restaurant for breakfast the service was excellent with great attention to detail. The same applied to the evening meal which was delicious. The staff throughout the hotel were friendly and courteous. We used the pool on several occassions and also the sauna again all in pristine condition. This was our third visit to the White Horse and will certainly not be our last.

    « 60th Birthday Treat »

We booked a relaxing overnight stay as an extra treat for my husband's birthday took a chance on an offer we received by email that looked too good to be true. The hotel was ten minutes by car from Londonderry, very welcoming, clean and tidy, We arrived a little early for booking in and were given tea in reception while we waited, booked into a lovely room very spacious clean and comfortable. The staff were helpful we had use of leisure facilities if we choose to, but after an afternoon shopping in Londonderry we just relaxed in our room then went down to sit by the open fire before going into the restaurant for our meal and bottle of wine, which was all part of the package. The food was very good, I had the lamb and my husband the steak both were well cooked and presented, the staff were attentive and friendly and we were well fed after our three courses and bottle of wine. We sat by the fire until the evening entertainment started in the bar area, the male singer did a great job and sang non-stop for the rest of the night we were all singing along. Would not hesitate to recommend the hotel for a short stay.

    « January stay »

Stayed for one night. Reception and staff helpful and pleasant. Room very modern but only small bath. Good sized tv. Reasonable priced food. Only problem was I had an interconnecting room which means you can hear the tv word for word of next room and also any conversations they have. Spoilt what was an otherwise enjoyable stay.

« Nice Hotel, Very reasonably priced »

This is my 2nd stay at this hotel. Great value for money. Lovely big open fire in hotel lobby as well. Room is more than adequate and very comfortable. Good nights sleep. Breakfast was served hot and had a great choice. Very tasty. Evening meal was fairly priced and great local produce. Overall happy with stay. One downside is after 7 days I have still not got my holding money back

« The most ill mannered staff »

Hi I recently stay at your hotel. First of all I would like to say thank you to the staff who dealt with us on our arrival, they were extremely accommodating. However from this point on everything went down hill. We were offered a place on the party night due to a group dropping out. Oh how unfortunate we all now feel for saying yes. The food was beautiful however one member of our party found a hair in her main dinner. When we made the staff aware of this problem they were anything but accommodating, in fact referred to our particular member as, 'That one.' Not only was this extremely ill mannered, it destroyed the mood of the whole table. It was even more sole destroying having to endure the mannerisms of the staff for the remainder of our meal, in particular two short haired blonde women. We didn't let this dampen our mood however to my absolute disgust the next morning as I was cleaning the room and sorting my stuff out to leave, it came to my attention that there were a dirty pair of boxers under the bed, which certainly did not belong to me and my friend. Surely the beds would be moved to ensure the facilities were to an extremely high cleanliness level. When staff were made aware of this issue, it took over 30minutes to address the issue. As the group and myself checked out we made the manager aware of the problems we experienced and we were informed that somebody would contact us. Still no word two weeks on, therefore one of our members emailed the manager. The reply was little to be desired, and we were accused of breaking a bed, which was most certainly not the case. All in all, I can most definitely say that I will not be back due to the service experienced by some of the staff. They were incoherent and very unhelpful and I have chosen to not state any names. If you are looking for a nice relaxing get away, go somewhere else. It will result in you leaving feeling quite inferior due to some of the mannerisms experienced.

We have stayed here several times over the last few years, the hotel has been upgraded to a four star, which in my opinion is right on the money. The rooms are excellent spotless and really comfortable. The leasure facilities are excellent pool, sauna, and steam room. The food whilst being big portions is of a extremely high standard and definitely value for money . The staff make you feel at home, can't wait until we stay again.

    « Four star what? »

This hotel by far has a brilliant web site which is so deceiving. 80's hotel with good staff. The pool is terrible, cold and not clean by a mile. The tiles were black and the kids pool had debris. I took my kids out after 10 mins. No armbands for sale or to borrow. The bedroom was adequate if you were in a 2 star hotel - not the stated 4*. Grubby through and through. A disgrace for the tourist board to rate this hotel 4 star - what were they thinking? The dinner was good but the breakfast wasn't. There was little choice. We booked for 2 nights but had to leave after one. On arrival in the carpark we should have stuck with our gut feeling of not going in. Went on to Limavady to stay on a real 4 star hotel. Different world altogether. On the plus side the staff were brilliant - shame about the hotel itself.

    « Mixed Feelings »

Booked the couples night for myself and my wife as a wee treat. Price was very good and was easy to make a reservation. Grounds to the hotel could do with a an upgrade. Staff on arrival were very friendly and hotel was nicely decorated. Sparkling wine and treats were in our room which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Made use of the swimming pool and stream room which was very relaxing after a long drive and shopping in the city centre. Staff in the restaurant were also very friendly and the food was beautiful. Rooms were clean and well decorated. The only let down was when I discovered a facecloth in the top of the slide robes covered in blood and other bodily fluids. Took the edge off what was a lovely night. I informed reception so hopefully this was passed on to housekeeping. Breakfast was ordered to the room but had to phone down to reception as it was late and without sauces. I come from a hotel background and a few small changes this could be a fantastic hotel.

    « Fawlty Towers »

Booked a table at 68 Clooney for 6 adults and 2 children 04/10/15 at 2pm. Whilst the food was nice, I can only describe the service as akin to Fawlty Towers! When ordering starters we were told that there was no melon for the children. They made do with bread rolls. We had to ask for butter. We had to ask for drinks. When the server was collecting our starter plates, we ordered pizza and chicken goujons for the 2 children. The adults went up to get our dinner and had our dinner finished by the time the children's meals arrived. We had to ask at least twice what had happened to the relatively uncomplicated order of pizza and chicken goujons. When informed that we were still waiting (20-30 mins later) one of your waiting staff realised how ridiculous this was and ran towards the kitchen. You can imagine how enjoyable our dinner was, trying to entertain an increasingly hungry 7 year old and 3 year old, who had to watch the adults eat and wonder where their food was. When it came to desert it seems your staff couldn't coordinate that either. The children requested one 'poke' and one jelly and ice cream... First two pokes arrived and then two jelly and ice cream. Again we had to keep asking for what we'd ordered. To top it all off, a member of staff very promptly came to our table to ask/check what everyone had had... It seems they can be efficient sometimes! When I went to pay, he then asked me to sign up for a loyalty scheme, which I refused. It was like a bad joke. There seemed to be a large function going on at the same time, however this is no excuse for such a poor standard of service. Very off putting for everyone. We will not return.

    « Weekend break - loved it! »

We stayed at the White Horse for a weekend birthday break and couldn't fault it. The staff were more than helpful and friendly. Would definitely recommend it and we will most certainly be back!

    « Nice Hotel »

We stayed at the White Horse Hotel as we wanted to tour Derry the next day. The hotel room itself was very lovely with lots of storage. The twin beds were the most comfortable of all the beds that we have slept on in Ireland. The only problem that we encountered was the shower didn't work properly as only the hot water made it through the nozzle. We told the receptionist so hopefully this is corrected for the next visitor. The hotel is located outside of Derry and is about a 15 minute drive back to walled city. We did not mind this as the hotel was very quiet and the drive is fairly easy. We did not have time to make use of the pool but they have excellent hours at 6:30 am to 10:00 pm. The wifi was free and worked well.

I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed at this hotel. The room I had was on the groundfloor, it was pretty spacious and clean, the bed was really comfy. The bathroom was nice, just was you need (if you're happy with just a shower and no bathtub) and spotlessly clean. Derry is just a short drive away. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
