« Average hotel, nice location, expensive rates for "sea view" »

We booked two "sea view" rooms via booking.com. We paid a little more for the sea view as we wanted a treat. We arrived at the hotel around 9pm and it almost felt like we had woken up the receptionist. She was not very friendly or welcoming at all. She quickly checked us in and sent us on our way. The room was on the ground floor, it was very large. We had a very large bed, sofa area, TV, tea/coffee making facilities, microwave, fridge, a/c unit etc. The sink area was part of the bedroom and a separate shower/toilet area. Our room had a terrible musty damp smell and our friends room next door absolutely stunk of cigarettes. The bed was comfortable enough but we didn't get much sleep due to the fact the fridge was the nosiest one i have ever heard and it was too hot to sleep without the air conditioning but the unit was so noisy it sounded like a plane was taking off in the room. Thank goodness we were only there for one night or i think i would have been rather grumpy due to lack of sleep! The sea view we paid for was a total waste of money because we could just about see the sea if we kind of squinted and tilted our heads! If we had known we would not have bothered. The next morning we managed to find the continental breakfast which was packed and we couldn't find a table at first. It was very much "diy" and had paper plates, plastic knives and forks etc. But it was enough to fill us up for the rest of the day. We didn't use the pool area but it looked nice with plenty of sunbeds etc. The location was nice but it is not close to the town centre, not really walking distance. But i do believe there is a shuttle that runs into town. We probably would not stay here again...

    « Nice stay »

Hotel had the beauty of being across from the water, but, the airport was also next door. Plane noise and traffic were not disturbing however, as the water location more then made up for what ever noise (there was not too much) the airport made. Pool had a nice shape and water was warm. Great walking/running strip across from hotel along the water. Friendly staff, good folks staying there as well.

« Very nice hotel with lovely pool »

Very nice hotel just off the main road, fantastic large rooms and nice pool area. Bit noisy when planes take off and land but very few and far between. Parking right outside rooms. Easy to find and easy to get into Key West itself

« check in time too long »

every time we've come here the check in time gets longer. they never have your room available. This yr we had to wait 5 hours! where were we to go? it was ridiculous. If they cant clean the rooms faster for a faster turn over, then they need to hire more help.

    « Always the BEST!! »

For 4 years we have stayed here and it is such a great place. My wife and I enjoy the Ambassador so much. We brought another couple this year and they also are ready to come back. The success in this place, are the employees that go out of their way to make this a fantastic stay. Thanks again, see you in 2017

    « A good hotel... to a point »

We stayed here for our first visit to Key West arriving by car. The hotel is nicely decorated and easily accessible from either the highway or the airport. Somehow we missed the fact that this hotel is right on the edge of an international airport and consequently right in line to the runway and the attendant noise. When a jet takes off from the airport, it is REALLY loud, albeit not that frequent. Our room was in reasonably good repair and the pool area is nice. Key West is tourist destination and we really looked forward to drinks by the pool during the afternoon or after an evening out. You can get them, but ONLY from the overpriced "Cheekie Hut". Happy hour prices were $7 for a rum punch or similar, but a plastic glass of wine is $9.00 (!) And you are NOT allowed to bring any of your own wine, beer etc or even a bag of potato chips. Nope, you gotta buy them there. As a result, the pool area was pretty much deserted during our stay. We rented bikes during our stay and found them a convenient way to get around this relatively small island. Taxis run $5pp to pretty much anywhere and are a good alternative to trying to find and pay for parking should you arrive by car. There are no elevators to the second floor rooms, probably due to the close proximity of the property to the airport. So, would I recommend this place to my friends? Yes but with the aforementioned caveats.

« clean and was great place to stay »

was very nice and very clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful the pool was great and clean close to the ocean and sunset and very easy to get in and out of key west and was on the bus route and taxi and the trolley. could see and hear the air planes. outside from your room was great.

« Older Hotel but Spotless »

The Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Our room was large, clean, well appointed and had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool area. The pool area was beautiful with an outside bar...nicely done. My only complaint was the distance from Duval Street (where most of the action is located). All in all, a lovely place to stay for not too much money...came with breakfast too!

    « Couple Vacation »

We spent 2 nights at the Best Western, the hotel & pool area was clean, although commented on the time that they finished the snacks out there 5.15pm far too early. We were not aware of being under the flight path for the planes that start at 6am until late. I found the laundry very handy as were on a 8 week vacation. Its a must to have a car as not close to restaurants, and down town

    « Excellent Stay »

We spent 4 nights here. The pool view rooms facing the water are BEAUTIFUL! The pool is beautiful. They are always cleaning and picking up. The pool bartender was friendly and had a good selection. As everyone else comments, it is farther from Duval BUT we know that and wanted to be there. We have been in Key West a few times. For our money, we couldn't have picked a nicer spot. I really want to compliment the people that keep this place clean. We took the time to check a couple other places we considered staying. We made the right decision. At the end of the day, we like down time and to do a little reading. This is the place and once again the views are beautiful Sunrise every morning was awesome.

« Nice place to stay. Clean, good breakfast, convenient location »

Even though they have two nice breakfast areas to eat in, both large screen TVs were tuned to the same extremest news station. When I asked for one TV to be turned to any other channel I was told they would but each morning the TVs were on the same channel. We ended up having to eat breakfast outside by the pool.

« Fun in Key West Florida »

Easy to get to from airport as shuttle is available. Great Ocean view room with balcony. Has Concierge in the lobby which is new and a great addition. Bus stops at the hotel to downtown. Bus takes time to get to town in 30-45 min during fantasy fest. Bus does not run late so Taxi's are easy to get but it does add up. Has breakfast in am. Nice pool and has Tiki bar. Have stayed here many times and will continue to do ti.

    « Clean friendly stay »

Stayed here 2 nights 30th oct, checked in no problem, anniversary stop over ,nice touch bottle champagne in room ,thank you, rooms clean a little dated but ok,breakfast enough to get you going until lunch, bikes for hire $15 a day,can walk into old town 4mile but a lovely walk and stopping on beaches and benches on the way ,would hire bikes though if we did it again , path all the way, Hotel is good but as previous guests have said noisy and the room we were in the door wouldn't open needed a new handle, would we stop again yes .

    3
    « Good and bad »

Hotel is very clean. The pool and grounds are really well kept. The hotel is located right next to the airport and the jets taking off literally scream right over the hotel as they take off. We knew this before we booked however it was worse than we expected. It is approximately a $20 cab ride over to Duval st

    « paradise »

Only stayed for one night. Wish it had been longer. Lovely hotel with a great pool. Lovely snack bar by the pool selling lovely food and cocktails. Breakfast was a bit hit and miss not much choice and the staff in breakfast room weren't over friendly:(

    « Soul Searching »

Booked early and received excellent price during major Zombie Festival event. Close proximity to Duval St, but without tourist noise. Minor maintenance issues with room but tolerable. Front desk suggested dining option "Oscar's" a complete dive. Beautiful views from certain rooms.

    « Fair and beautiful »

Although the hotel is not located in the center of Key West, its rooms, the pool and the staff at reception, including concierge, turn the place lovable and perfect not only for couples but with children too.

    5
    « VACATION »

The Pool is large & beautiful. The area is most relaxing & convenient to the beach. Services such as the Trolley tour stop at this hotel for travel to downtown is great. We loved having the Cheeke Bar at pool side for drinks and eats. Having both parking & breakfast included with hotel is a great plus while in the Keys.

« Nice hotel with friendly atmosphere and iguanas! »

I've been staying in the hotel just for one day before going back home, but I will definitely recommend it to visit. The hotel looks really lovely, the pool area is nice either. I was pleasantly surprised to see iguanas on the hotel's property! It was very unconventionally and made me to remember this place forever, I'm about to stay here again during my next visit.

    4
    « Great stay »

Hotel was great over and I got an upgrade to an ocean view room which was fantastic. I enjoyed watching the iguanas that roam all over the property. I would feed them my left overs from the balcony. The room was good except for the bed which gave me a back ache. Room had nice size flat screen, microwave and cold fridge. I liked TV had HBO and Showtime. Toilet didn't flush properly and had to flush it 5-7 times before crap went down. Breakfast was very good with excellent service by the staff. I had a great stay.

    « Old and outdated »

I was hoping for a nicer hotel experience based on other reviews. I found this to be very outdated and worn. The room was so dingy and the door (which opened directly to the outdoors) had a gap around it so large that bugs or lizards could easily come in. I checked out much faster than I checked in. I will say the front desk was very accommodating and did not seem surprised at all at our quick check out.

    4
    « air conditioner »

We stayed three nights at BW. Me and my husband and my son in another room. Both me and my husband did not get a good night's sleep on any of the three nights due to the noisy air conditioner. The cleanliness and the appearance of BW was excellent!! The bedding excellent. We stay every year in October and this was the first time we were unhappy with the noise of the air conditioner.

    3
« Too far from town »

This is a nice hotel with a beautiful pool. Sadly it is a long way from town and not near a beach. We hired bikes one day to cycle into Key West old town which was fine. And taxis were a flat rate of $5 per person. Also, the hotel is literally at the end of the airport runway so it did sometimes feel like the planes were in your room! Nice enough but not for more than a night or two.

    3
    « Moldy Bath Room »

Obvious mild was painted over in bathroom, it grew back over our 5 day stay. Location is very far from Duval street a taxi from her is over 30 dollars one way. Hotel did have nice grounds and view, just isolated form action of Duval street

    3
    « Just Average »

The outside of the hotel is quite frankly, ugly: two stories and exterior corridors. It is very motel-six. It is my opinion that the reason why the hotel advertises the pool so much is for two reasons, (1) the pool is in fact beautiful and (2) the rest of the hotel's exterior is nowhere near as attractive. In viewing just the hotel's exterior, It kind of felt like an older motel centered around a gorgeous pool. Where it counts, however, the hotel is a fairly good accommodation. Our room was much more modern than the outside would have suggested and it was clean. The bed was soft and the balcony was much more spacious than many other hotel balconies. The hotel staff were all forgettable - they didn't smile but then again, they didn't do anything wrong. The hotel is, however, right next to the airport (like, really, right next to it) and you can hear the planes all day and all night. If you are a light sleeper, this room isn't for you. But, lastly, that breakfast isn't worth waking up for. Sleep in instead. We were actually hungry in the morning buuuuuut we looked around and after seeing no real hot food (i.e. eggs, bacon), we got coffee and left.

« Best Of Key West »

A great place to relax and beautiful pool area to cool of in the middle of the day. Everyone was very helpful and friendly going above and beyond for me. It had a great tropical feel and the view from my balcony was invigorating. I would stay there again for sure.

    4
« Nice, reasonably priced hotel. »

The location is very close to the airport (few minutes' walk) and beach (10 minute walk), it is not very close to Duval St. (10 minute drive) so if you are looking for quiet it is a good location. There is a trolley bus that has a picks up at the hotel that is an easy way to get around as well as informative. The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated with a balcony overlooking the pool area. The bathroom was a little small but not a real problem. The hotel grounds are really well maintained, the landscaping is wonderful, I saw several iguanas. The pool area is nice with great landscaping and a tiki bar. The staff was all friendly and helpful, the concierge was especially helpful in assisting us select and book activities during our stay. Breakfast buffet was good although on one day that we were there wasn't enough tables & chairs available.

    « Very nice stay »

Stayed here for 5 nights while doing business in Key West. About a 5 minute walk or a 1 minute drive from EYW Airport. Located on the south side of the Island, right across the street from the water. The Beach is about a 10 minute walk down a nice wide sidewalk along the Boulevard. The resort is at the opposite end of the island from the party / drunk scene - was super quiet and peaceful the whole time I was here. Large, sprawling property, very nicely landscaped, several buildings, only one of which faces the water directly. Very nice pool with bar / restaurant (only open for lunch, not dinner). My room was large, spotlessly clean (NO BUGS - NONE :)), very nicely decorated in a tropical / Caribbean theme. Furniture was good quality and in good condition. The AC worked great, my room was nice and cool when I arrived and each day when I returned. The only negatives I would note - the TV is a little small for the size of the room and the distance from the sofa / chaise, and the water pressure in the shower was nonexistent. Otherwise ... price was in line or slightly lower than similar places on the Island, I really enjoyed my stay here, and highly recommend the place for business travelers and families.

« Nice stay for a few days! »

This hotel is nice for a few days at Key West,it is 10 minutes walk from the public beach, and 10 minutes by car from the city center. Has a spacious pool and breakfast is good! The rooms are big and they have a balcony at the back, where you can sit or dry your bathing suits. The only downside is the noise of the airplanes and airforce aircrafts wich fly over during the day, starting early in the morning. We thought is was annoying.

    4
    « Spacious »

It's hard to find a room for a family of 5, this was spacious enough for the roll away and still had floor space to spare. A nice bonus was the screened in back porch (though it did have a smokey smell)! It's only 3 miles from Duval Street, but I'd say walking with a family is probably out of the question. Breakfast was good, loved the outdoor eating area. If you want to be super close to the airport, this is your place.

    « Best Western »

not bad for a hotel that allows pets, and there are no rules about leaving pets in the rooms, like other hotels... We were able to have fun with family by leaving our dog in the room and also have fun with my dog, without any hassles. Beautiful view of the ocean and beach down the street. Nice place to walk along the ocean for you and your dog...

Great price, great facility, spacious room, loved the screened balcony, very clean, helpful pleasant staff, good location if you are in Key west for peace and quiet and sun, sea and sand. Not within walking distance of Duval St. so minimum crazyness.

« good location for family »

good location, close to the sea, large room, quiet, good for family. hotel staff keep the room clean. although near airport, but not much plane passing by. so okay. some distant to downtown, so need a car.

« Not the best western »

I am sorry to say this hotel was overpriced, outdated and a big disappointment. The pool was closed for repairs and they didn't disclose that when we checked in. It was noisy from the construction as well as it is located next to a small airport with planes flying over on a regular basis. The closest pool was down the street and the closest restaurant for breakfast, which they included in the price of the room was next door. We left early, staying only one night which they charged 258.00 for. Will never be back.

    5
    « Great choice »

I traveled with my wife to know the area during 3 days and we looked for an affordable hotel with all amenities to make our trip confortable taking in account we would nee long resting time beside visiting the main points in the city. We met all we were looking for. Great choice, pleasant stay!!!

    2
« Great location, Updates needed, overcharged »

We recently spent 4 nights here. While the ocean is directly across the street and the pool is lovely, the room need updating, and the entrance to it was seedy. We had requested and received a pool front room, but we had to walk all the way around the building to access it. It was nice that breakfasts were complimentary. The morning we left I called the desk to double check charges and see if we needed to stop by the office before leaving (video check-out was not available). We were quoted and noted the extra poolside lunch/bar bill. A few days later after returning home, an additional bill of way over $100 was on my credit card. I immediately called to have this rectified, but it was never removed. The date on my charge card for the additional charge was the day we checked out. We left @ 7a.m., so there was no way it was a valid charge. Be warned, people!

« Nice hotel, could be closer to Duval Street »

I rented here for Labor Day weekend and was satisfied. I had read in previous reviews that the hotel is set up like a motel so wasn't surprised about that. I was surprised at how big the room and balcony were, very spacious, with a mini fridge and microwave we had everything we needed. Slept like a baby in the bed. It's a solid 10-15 minutes from Duval Street so I would probably stay closer if you're going out in the area. The pool area is nice, have to drive to get beach access. Given the price gouging that took place during the holiday this hotel was pretty reasonably priced. I would stay here again.

By paying extra for pool view room, had great view of pool and bar, and easier access to everything(pool, bar etc. Also have screened in balcony to keep bugs out! Room was clean but was not on ground floor (didn't mind the walk)The office was hospitable and courteous. Will return if price is right.

« Avoid Like a Pit Full of Hungry Alligators »

Two words, dishonest and snotty. The girl at the counter acted like she was doing us a favor by assisting us. When we got to our room, I noticed that it was not the size that we needed. We go back to the lobby only to be told that they were booked and that nothing could be done about it. My wife checked the BW website only to find that there were rooms available that would meet our needs. We went back in and were rudely told that there was still nothing that they could do to help us. When we called the "Customer Support" number, we were given the runaround and were told that someone would start a file on the situation. Later my wife called back to clarify the name of the "nice" lady at the front only to be told that there was no file started. We finally got into a different room (with whispers from the staff when we went in), don't think I didn't hear that when I walked in guys... I would rather sleep on the beach under a trash bag than to go back to that location again! This location is not indicative of our experiences with BW in the past, so don't judge them all by this one location.

    3
« Decent hotel but a few issues to raise »

This hotel is well located, despite being slightly outside the main centre of Key West; though the hotel is served by a tour trolley. The hotel itself is pretty standard for these sort of hotels and includes everything you'd expect. Despite this, the hotel could do with a facelift as it is looking tired and outdated. The pool area is very nice and by far one of the major attractions for me staying here. Rooms are spacious and include a safe and mini fridge, all free of charge. My one big concern with this hotel was the breakfast. This was by far from exciting to wake up to, but the worst aspect of it was the extremely rude staff members, notably one, whose level of customer service was diabolical. I would not have been impressed had I been a representative of the company to see her miserable attitude towards her job. Furthermore, a member of staff who's job I am still trying to work out its value, whereby she appeared to be the towel lady, but didn't actually provide you with any towels; you still had to climb round her to get them! Overall though, a decent hotel with reasonable amenities, but someone please review some members of staff!

    « Great place! »

Enjoyed this hotel it was very peaceful and relaxing which is exactly what I wanted for a birthday weekend. I had a nice ocean view and the breakfast in the mornings was perfect. It has a nice pool area and bar to relax. Also not far off from the remaining fun in Key West duval area.Recommend to anyone.

« Great pool but in need of modernisation »

The Keys seem to favour motel style accommodation and the Key Ambassador also has this kind of feel. First impressions were not great as the multiple blocks of rooms look very tired from the exterior. The room interior was more positive though, lots of space and very clean, but still very dated decor and a lack of natural light. Even using the electric lights, the room was still very dark. Functional if uninspiring balcony to the rear of the room. The real low point though is the bathroom - a tiny dark space with a small bath with shower above and a toilet which looked like it hadn't been decorated since about 1980. There is a separate more spacious area with sink, toiletries space etc though. The pool is great. The hotel is located away from the main Duval St area which can be a positive or negative depending on your needs. The airport is literally right next door though so be aware that there will be some aircraft noise (fairly low frequency but timing can be annoying - regular large plane departure at 7:20am which is pretty loud!). The staff were very friendly and helpful and also let us keep, our room for an extra hour at no charge.

« Finding the best in a difficult situation »

When our plane was grounded one evening in Key West, Delta airlines offered nothing but rebooking, free pizza and a night in the airport. We managed to find an extremely helpful front desk clerk, Samantha, at this hotel. She suggested that we find a Delta employee to issue us a voucher for a night. The hotel had a free airport shuttle and was close to the airport. The property is impeccably maintained with beautiful gardens and pool, spacious, comfortable rooms, screened in patios, and free breakfast. Restaurants are within walking distance. Kudos to Samantha the night manager!!!

    3
« Fairly good and well located »

I'm not going to rave about this hotel....it's ok and will serve its purpose for us. But, it's nothing special and the photos used on its listing on trip advisor have been enhanced somewhat. It has a motel feel to it. Our room was spacious with two double beds and plenty of space to move. The hotel only has two floors and is spread across two or three buildings. Our room was a fair way from reception. The reception area is 'motel' like and the greeting on arrival was not exactly earth moving!! Our room in terms of decor is a little tired and I suspect that someone has smoked in here before us, as it has that smell. The room is quite dark and there is little natural light. In terms of its location in regards to Key West, it feels quite well placed, and the sea is just across the road. There is a small beach just down the road. Car parking is free.

    « One Night »

I stayed at this hotel for one night on the 19th. October.2016. The hotel was lovely, spotless with friendly staff. The hotel is just a few minutes drive as you enter Key West. Which in my opinion, makes it well sited. Our room was well kitted out, two big comfy beds, TV, shower over bath, in room safe and free WiFi. We only spoke with two people at the Front Desk and they were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was included and enjoyable with a decent selection. Check in and out was simple. If I were to go back to Key West again, I wouldn't look any further than the Best Western Key Ambassador. It ticked all the boxes.

« Comfortable hotel good location »

Family of couple and two adult children we. We made the booking through Booking The hotel located at the end of Highway 1 is less than 5 minutes from the sea , but there is no possibility to swim there. The rooms are ok but If you are a family of 4 you should be alert to book a room with two king. Room for 4 with a sofa bed is a mistake. It is not suitable for 4 it's a small room. Reservation was made in mists, I asked the exchange, they did not agree to exchange because the hotel was fully booked The breakfast is fine, and the pool also. It is advisable to arrive early for breakfast because the hotel is pretty big and there not enough room for everyone if they all come together ... it is recommended to arrive before 8:30. Overall, fine hotel convenient and recommended for those looking for a hotel in Key West. It should be remembered that he was also not cheap at all, it is clear that compared to others is cheaper but still expensive. Amir

    « Good Quality/Price »

Good Quality for the price level. This is inot a luxury hotel but this is OK. Very confortable (old) rooms, nice small pool. Very very convinient is the parking ! Small kitchen in the room, not bad. Old Old bathroom, but still ok. Breakfast not too bad...

    « Worse BW Hotel »

heavily over priced hotel, rooms weren't cleaned, trash baskets not emptied, room not vacuumed, no chance of having b/fast due to small b/fast room, we needed to purchase b/fast externally, parties at night after 10:00PM, gays and lesbians were allowed to smoke in the swimming pool although security was on duty etc. NOT recommendable at all

« Not what it seems.... »

Name with title doesn't go together...reservations not correct...have an elderly mother that couldn't walk up and down the stairs...(no elevator) ask for first floor got second floor! Next day had to repack to move to first floor and then they put us in a handicap room! Very disappointed...then they said the only rooms available where rooms with breakfast included so that was an additional $20.00/per day and everyone was allowed to have breakfast! Very unfair...so if you stay there don't pay extra for breakfast just go eat cause it's a scram!!!!!!!

    « Not the best. »

Very disappointed in this hotel. Room balcony looked out over a wall. They were unwilling to move us. Breakfast room was much too small. Bathroom was in need of some renovation though water pressure was good. Staff unhelpful. Room cleaning didn't bother to replenish shampoo or cups and actually asked if we wanted the rooms serviced. For the money I paid, yes I wanted them serviced! Not quite sure how they can call it a resort hotel. Tiki bar closed way too early at 7pm. Pool was ok but service at bar was really slow. Wouldn't recommend.

    « MEH »

Thought we would have inside doors since this is marketed as a HOTEL not a motel. Beds were comfortable and staff was nice. Would not let us have a late check out. The seawall is across the street and was fun to look into the water. By looking at google maps and never been there before we thought it was on the beach. Apparently there are very few beaches in Key West. That was my mistake.

« Ok hotel, easy to get to and out of the hustle and bustle of the city centre »

Big room with 2 enormous beds and good bathroom. Old fashioned noisy aircon unit in the room. The breakfast room was way too small for the amount of people in the resort and also I absolutely hate eating out of disposable plates, cups and cutlery. Food choice ok, but quite sour faced personnel in there. The female concierge (don't know here name) was very helpful and knowledgeable. Great pool area though, with lots of beds and possibility of shade etc. The Trolley bus comes to the hotel which you can take a hop on hop off tour on around the island.

This hotel is so nice for a budget friendly pocket, that is why I gave it high marks. The room was spacious..we had a king bed and sofa..clean..friendly..pool was nice...and it's just enough away from the hustle and bustle. ...The sunrise is beautiful. ..then breakfast will get you going something for everyone..till Dinner..many choices..!! TIP: Book a cruise with Danger Charters .. you can look at the reviews on trip advisor. .they hold 25 people it's much more personal than the others, Fury&Sunset hold many many people and it's a drink fest only.

    « Very nice place. »

I recommend. Clean rooms, good service and good price. A good breakfast, good localization. A very good pool and the pool bar offers a good service. We were in three, a couple friend of mine. We booked two rooms, and they were all really pleased. Still has a transport that picks up guests at the hotel and then back behind. This transport takes guests to tour the city.

    « Gorgeous Grounds »

It is the best place in Key West for the value, amenities and comfort. and very clean. A great pool area and tiki bar as well with a beautiful tropical breeze at all time. The breakfast was good with plenty of choices.

« Quaint spot on the outskirts of KW »

Stayed at the Best Western for a night before a fishing trip. Its very close to the Key West airport and the road onto the island. Its about a $15 cab ride to Duval street, so you are away from all the crazy crowds which is nice. Nice pool with a view of the ocean in the distance.

    « Lovely Hotel »

This hotel is on the south side of the island and has lovely views. But the best thing is that it is quiet and one can relax and sleep after a whole day of fun. Yes, you need to drive to the main island attractions but to not have all the noise at nice is priceless. Has a beautiful pool to cool off in. Also has a self service laundry area, which is great on long vacations. Free breakfast in the morning is really nice too.

« Nice place to stay »

The hotel is away from the crowds of Duval street. The pool closes early was the only down fall. It was clean, we had large spacious king rm with an ocean view. It is not fancy but is clean and the grounds are well maintained. Service was good and the staff was friendly. It is far enough away from Smathers beach that you don't have to smell it. You can also buy trolley tickets at the hotel to avoid paying for parking. It does have some wildlife around. Overall it's a nice place to stay.

    3
    « Good hotel »

A nice hotel located near the airport. Not much air traffic so that wasn't an issue. Pool bar closed at 7pm and the pool closed at 8pm, A little early if you ask me. Rooms were average and the buildings are scattered. You need to walk to get to everything on-site.

    « Hemingway 5k »

Came down for the Hemingway 5k and I have to say the hotel was great, the rooms are spacious and clean. The view is amazing and the breakfast and service was excellent. Overall a great experience, will definitely come back soon!

« BYOT - Bring Your Own Towels »

The hotel itself is pretty good. Breakfast is nice. However don't count on housekeeping to bring you new towels, shampoo or soap each day. Also, they seem to not have any towels at the pool area at times. When you go to the front deck to ask for a towel, you'll eventually get one delivered by someone who is very annoyed you asked for one.

    « Enjoyed our stay! »

We were in a king room, ocean-side. It was a clean and updated room. Safe in room. Balcony was spacious. Decent continental breakfast. Pool was clean but water was very warm. Ate lunch at the pool several days. Fair priced food. Large portions. Take advantage of Happy Hour drink prices. It did take a day or so to get used to the jets from the nearby airport. About the only hotel on the island that doesn't charge a daily parking fee. This was great for us since we took our bikes and never used the car. We would stay again.

    5
« Great Stay at Best Western Ambassador Inn »

This is a beautiful well maintained Best Western property with a nice lounge pool and Tiki bar facing the ocean. Our stay was exceptional from check-in to check out- very friendly, helpful staff and concierge was awesome booking us our snorkeling adventure tour. Bicycle rental on site was very convenient.

    3
    « Lovely Pool Area »

Stayed here for 3 days during our vacation--best pool we had during our entire trip. Excellent value for Key West--though you will need a car if you're interested in getting to Old Town/Duval Street. We we're earlier than normal check-in, but they were able to accommodate us right away. Very appreciative of the entire staff, who couldn't have been more helpful. Only complaint would be that the A/C is noisy.

    4
« Comfortable sea view room »

The hotel is comfortable located close to all the major attractions. They have a pool too. The morning breakfast includes a nice variety. The rooms with sea view will be a great option to look at when booking or checking in. The other thing I loved about our first floor room was that it was very spacious and the bed directly overlooked the waters, right across the road. This part of Florida has it's own kind of 'fauna' overload. There are big Iguana-like reptiles moving all around, here. We came across a few in the hotel's parking area. Even though it was scary, it still felt good that we came so close to such creatures, bred by mother nature herself. Made a good watch for my toddler :)

    3
    « Better AC »

AC unit not working properly, and needed weatherstripping or something around door into room. Hot air blowing in from outside, and could see daylight from inside room. The pool was very large and clean and tiki bar and food was very good. The exterior of hotel was nicely maintained.

    5
« Awesome environment and location »

It's located right along US1. You can go everywhere in the island easily. Rooms are comfortable, prices are good, snacks at the tiki bar as well. My son loved the pool. It's climatized and not deep. Very good environment for the family. And last, if you want to take the Trolley tour, you are picked up at the hotel

    5
« Spacious room, nice pool »

Located just across the ocean, next to airport. Driving about 15 mins to downtown area is not a problem to me. Really spacious room with private balcony. My kids love to spend time in the big nice pool.

« To far away from Duval Street »

If you want to be where the action is this place is to far from anything. In order to get to Duval Street you had to park about a mile away in a parking lot and walk about a mile into the town. Being that it was 98 degrees and felt like 108 this wasn't the most pleasant thing to do. There is a trolley from the hotel that will take u into town for a fee. I was surprised that the hotel didn't offer a free shuttle like some do in other city's when they are located far from the action. The pool at this hotel was packed with people who played very loud music that they brought with them. No one from the hotel told them to keep it down. It made many uncomfortable. Didn't end up staying at the pool just jumped in and left. Breakfast was included and was pretty good as far as continental breakfast goes. Good selection. The view from the hotel was none. The ocean is across the street without a beach. The rooms also didn't have balconies. I think the next time I come to key west I will stay closer to town.

« Great Place To Stay »

We had a wonderful stay at this clean, friendly and easy to get to hotel. We began our stay by walking from the airport to the hotel. It was such a beautiful we day, we thought, why not? after settling in, we met the Old Town Trolly out front (there is a fee for tickets) and went to check out the town. After coming back, we had a great dinner at Benihana's. next door (reservations preferred) The next day we met Jamie who has a desk in the lobby and will help you with any suggestions for restaurants and entertainment you might have. Through her, we rented bikes for a minimal fee, 24 hours rental. We used them to bike to the beach and see some of the local history. She also suggested an inexpensive local seafood restaurant, only a bikes ride away. She set us up on a sunset, glass bottom boat tour as well, through Fury. I don't think our vacation would have been the same without her. The included, breakfast was amazing. It included waffles ( you make yourself) cereal, yogurt, fruit, boiled eggs and danish. The staff in the breakfast room, were friendly and helpful. The pool was beautiful and food from the bar grill was top notch and inexpensive as well. If you don't want to stay near the hoopla of Duval street, but don't want to be to far from the action, this hotel is for you.

« Wrong side of town »

We stayed here because the other folks we were traveling with had already booked here. This is the only hotel that I know of who does NOT offer a shuttle service into town & that is an issue!! We had a rental car & parking is an issue in Key West. If you find parking, you pay dearly by the hour for it. The hotel says oh you can catch the Trolley, who wants to pay $20+ per day per person to do that?? The hotel is landscaped beautifully and has a lovely pool area & bar with great fruity drinks ($10 each). Mike at the bar is super nice & will take great care of you! Our room was clean but nothing over the top. We had ants in the bathtub one day, but hey this is Florida. Hotel is located next to the airport so you do see and hear planes landing & taking off-honestly this was not an issue for us. My issue was being stuck in the middle of nothing. If you are looking for nightlife, don't look here. Pool and tiki bar closes early--there is a Benihana restaurant down the busy highway --other than that you are pretty much at a loss for dining options other than driving or getting a taxi into town.

« Nice Hotel, Great Complimentary Breakfast, Helpful Concierge »

We stayed in a ocean view room and thoroughly enjoyed the sun over the water every morning and the sounds of the sea while sitting out on our balcony in the evenings when we were around. This hotel is in the quiet part of the island which makes it truly feel like a get-away. The only thing that ruins that tranquility is the planes departing right overhead from the next-door airport. The beds were very comfortable and the maid service did a great job of keeping the room neat and tidy. We utilized the concierge immensely and each concierge member we met was very nice. I had a little trouble with the front desk staff not being a quick to help as I would like. Unfortunately this left me feeling a little sour towards the hotel but I chalked most of the front desk hesitance to help up to staff members having a bad day. If you are at all active, I would highly recommend renting the bicycles for at least one day as exploring the island by bicycle is lots of fun and truly made our experience much more relaxing. Lastly, the continental breakfast was mostly the reason we chose this place and it did not disappoint! There is not hot eggs or bacon each day but between the waffles, toast, yogurt, fruit, cereal, and juices, it was great!

    « Disappointed 50 birthday »

My husband made reservations to surprise me for my 50th birthday. He specifically chose this hotel because it accepted dogs and he made reservations a month before through the Internet and spoke to a representative to clarify. We were staying for 5 days, and it was an 8 Hr car drive. We got a phone call 1 hour before we arrived stating because we had dogs, we had to move from our original waterside view to overlooking the pool. We thought it would be OK, but the room was very, very small and compact, not at all like the website and what we thought we were getting. I was so disappointed on how they switched us and there was nothing we could do to change it. I did speak to a manager that offered us a discount rate, but otherwise they didn't care and blamed it on the representative that my husband spoke to. They were also very unfriendly. We left a day early, and I won't be going back, and I suggest others do not also. P.s. They didn't give us the discount.

    « Nice place! »

Did not have a reservation, but the staff was very helpful in getting is a room with a roll away bed for the kid! Reasonably priced. Very nice pool and bar area! The staff was also helpful in directing us towards Duvall St and local attractions.

« Good, Affordable Place to Stay on Key West »

Overall this was a great hotel for the price. We were lucky our room dropped it's rate just before we traveled. The hotel has great ocean views along Route 1A. Although not every room has an ocean view, it's close enough to see when you walk outside. There is a sidewalk on the ocean side of the road which makes it convenient to walk and take in stunning views. Although the hotel is not in the heart of the downtown area it's a quick 5-6 minute drive to Duval Street. Our concern about any noise being so close to the airport was really unfounded. You may hear a plane taking off twice a day, but it only lasts maybe 10-15 seconds and then it's over. The room has had some upgrades. It's a standard hotel room. I was impressed on clean it was. The pull out coach in our room was too saggy for our son to sleep on the first night but dding some sofa cushions helped. The pool area was nice and kept up. The breakfast each morning was plentiful. Staff were very friendly and kept the area very clean and well stocked. Would definitely stay here again if we traveled back to Key West.

    4
    « Nice Hotel »

The rooms are a nice size. The bathroom was large. The pool is a big when compared to other hotel pools in the area. It was really nice to have to tiki bar right next to the pool, and you were able to get water when ever. The beds are firm, but overall we enjoyed the hotel. My family really enjoyed staying at this hotel.

    3
« Calm & quiet near the water »

Pros: 1) Very close to the waters, if you would like to take a morning or a late evening stroll. 2) Complimentary breakfast 3) Good customer service Cons: 1) It is a bit pricey for a chain hotel, but I guess it is for the location

    5
    « A key experience »

This was by far one of the nicest places we have experienced. The room, pool, Tiki lounge, staff were all excellent. The food was great as well. Only two minutes to Smather's beach, and 5 minutes to Duval street, and the southern most point makes this location very desireable. Will definitely stay here next time in Key West.

    2
« Guest room needs updating »

Too expensive for the quality. My quest room had wide gaps on the sides and bottom that could let bugs enter. The exterior door opened to the outside instead of an interior hallway. This hotel needs to be modernized. We could not get the sliding glass door to open to the screened patio. The pool area was very beautiful and was used by many. The hotel is not located near the "Old Town Key West" Duval Street so a car was needed and parking is expensive in town. The breakfast was very good.

    « Recommended! »

We stayed here for two nights as part of our holiday in Florida Keys. Although the hotel itself is on the eastern part of the island and is quite a bit away from the hustle and bustle of Duval Street and Mallory Square, it is still in a beautiful location, with a wonderful view of the Atlantic Ocean. We stayed in a King Room with a Harbour View. The room was huge with all the amenities you would expect, with a lovely, comfy king-sized bed. There are lots of iguanas roaming freely around the grounds. We found them fascinating and quite comical to watch.... The pool is exceptionally busy at all times. However, it was a weekend when we stayed so it is only to be expected at this time of year. There were only two downsides to our stay........the first being the fact that the pool bar closes at 7.00 pm. We found this unusual as there are not many other places in the immediate area where you could call for a quiet drink. The hotel may have their reasons for this, but we thought it was a missed opportunity for them as the grounds are beautiful and would be an ideal location to sit and enjoy the view with a nice cocktail or glass of wine. The other downside was breakfast. Although complimentary, the room where this is served is far too small for the amount of guests they have staying at the hotel. Chaos is the only word to describe it! It was just a free-for-all scramble for seats and tables and was not an enjoyable experience. If we had stayed any longer, we would have eaten breakfast elsewhere. Saying that, if you're looking for a reasonably-priced hotel in this area and you're happy to take a taxi or bus to downtown Key West, then I would certainly recommend staying here.

    « Hidden Jewel »

A 100 percent honest review. We were looking to visit Key West as inexpensive as we could. We came across the the Key Ambassador and saw a great deal which we booked. We were not expecting much. Much to our surprise when we arrived the room was spotless the staff was friendly and professional and the location was perfect. Is it a new hotel? No. But it IS very well maintained. No bugs no trash no shady people all in all a very nice property. Now let's talk about the pool. AMAZING. large, clean, just perfect. My favorite person there is Mike the Tiki Bartender. Gives excellent advise on local attractions pours a real drink (no half pours) he is friendly, knowledgeable about the area and an overall great guy. Bottom line...I highly recommend staying here for both value and location.

    « Stunning sea Views »

The hotel was ideally situated on the quiet end of Key West but well within travelling distance of the main town, also the hop on/off trolley stopped at the hotel. The rooms were really large with two huge double beds and all the coffee and tea making facilities. The staff at the front desk were really pleasant and helpful, and we were fascinated by the iguanas walking across the pool area. Would stay here again.

    « Too Short »

We stayed 2 nights at the Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn in Key West and had a great time. Some complain about the airport noise, but it did not bother us. A few planes went by but not too early in the morning or too late at night. The concierge in the lobby was extremely helpful in booking various activities - scooter rentals, jet ski tours, and other snorkeling/kayaking adventures. The pool area is great. Water is perfect temperature and you get sun all day and all night. The pool bar is also wonderful, food is very good. The only complaints are - I would prefer queen beds (as opposed to double beds) and there is no shuttle to transport people staying at the hotel to the main part of town or to the area where the boats take off (if you sign up for a cruise or to go snorkeling, etc.). Overall, great time and would definitely stay here again.

    5
« Best Western Key West »

Best Western Ambassador is our favorite choice hotel in Key West the last three times there. Close to airport, quiet in evening, great pool/tiki setup, away from congestion but easy to navigate all over Key West itself or day tripping to another key. Can park at "in town" Best Western free ( 1 block from Duval & close to Southern most point and restaurants, beaches ). Shuttle to airport. Evenings you can sit on sea wall and enjoy the ocean looking up Key or south, shrimp boats, & vast sky ... almost uninterrupted by traffic or noise.. Pretty romantic actually.

« You want sleep avoid this place. »

The walls are paper thin. The plans start going over at 6am. The car horns outside the rooms start around 5:30 as people load there cares and lock them. We had to get reception to ask next door to go to bed at 12:50am because even talking normally sounds as if they are in the room with you. I would not rate this as a place to stay if you need to sleep. We left after 2nd night as it was just as bad even though we had paid for 3 nights, as we were feeling ill from hardly any sleep. Didn't bother to ask for refund as they state "no refunds". Told them on reception that we were going due to noise but their attitude was "ok". Breakfast is good but if your in the 100/200 rooms it is a trek to get to where you eat. Overall I would look somewhere else to stay. It may cost a little more but at least you will get some sleep.

« Key West at its best »

If you are driving to Key West you will need to either pay top dollar to be right in the town centre or take an option like Best Western Key Ambassador which is on the water and a short trip from the action centre. The biggest issue in Key West is the lack of parking and the ridiculous charges for car parks. The hop on hop off trolly bus stops at Key Ambassador so it takes the hassle of parking out of the picture. The pool area is great, large pool and a great pool bar. Very professional staff.

    5
« Well worth the money »

This hotel is on the east side of the island and has a lot of privacy. It is within walking distance to the Beautiful Smather's Beach. There is no charge for parking as with many other hotels in Key West. The pool is a very nice size and is well maintained. The hotel is split into several different buildings but the grounds are nicely maintained. The breakfast was a nice continental breakfast with waffles, fruit and cereal. They took into account that some people may want to take and so so there were individual serving sizes of such things as cereal, apple slices, breakfast sandwiches and oatmeal cups. The hotel has a trolley stop right out front so there is easy access to the more populated areas of the island. We would definitely chose to stay here again if we are ever in Key West.

    « Great Accommodations »

We checked in at the last minute and got a room for 2 nights. Was amazing!!! Clean, friendly employees, washers/dryers onsite, quiet. It is next to the airport but not a big deal. I would highly recommend and will come back again.

    « Satisfied »

I enjoyed staying at this property. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The property was really nice and we enjoyed the outdoor grill. The pool was very nice and the bartender was outstanding! I would definitely stay again. The only downside is that the hotel is located on the opposite side of the island from where the action is.

    4
    « Relaxing and pleasant »

Bright and well maintained hotel on the less touristy side of the island. Staff was welcoming and helpful. Room was clean and adequate. Bedding was comfortable. Very nice and spacious pool environment. Chickee hut was a nice touch with good food. Airport is nearby but never a problem. Would definitely have a vehicle to get around.

    « Clean and easy »

The ambassador is a great hotel for the family wanting a place to sleep, eat breakfast and check out key west. Rooms and clean and the screened in porch is nice to keep the mosqitos at bay. Beautiful views as well. Your only downfall is that you have to drive to the downtown area.

Great Tiki Hut- with awesome food and drinks at pool- Balconies off rooms all screened in! Very simple Breakfast! Trolley or Bus stop right there! Beach about 15 minute walk - can see Ocean but is across rod with sea wall!

    « Great Hotel!! »

Hotel was a great experience. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful, rooms were clean. Hotel view of the pool and ocean was really great with screened in porches. The airport is next door so, the plane traffic can get a little noisy during the day but is mostly quiet at night! The POOL is amazing and Tiki Bar has great drinks! Would definitely stay here again!

    « Roaches »

Although they did give us a partial refund one would not expect this at 330$ per night. Roaches were crawling the walls. We complained and a guy with a can of Raid showed up at the door...really??!!! Would not recommend this hotel. Spend a bit more and get a clean room.

    « "Typical avg motel"... »

Believe me, there are numerous better places to stay in key west, but this one was free for my wife and me as a result of a gov contract, so it'd be hard to complain too much.. The Ambassador sits on the east side the island, as you first cross the bridge. The building is old and dated, but was the room was clean and comfortable. The pool is cool and refreshing, and provides an outdoor bar with well made drinks.. Nice!! The A/C in the room kept up with the 90+ and humid weather, somehow. Only complaint was that the water pressure was lacking in the shower. I'm not sure I'd pay to stay here on vacation, but if you're on a budget, I'd say it'd be suffice. Note: keep an eye on specials and coupons, as we saw some in a travel pamphlet..

    « good value »

nice & clean property. pool towels available. pool bar closes before mentioned closing hours. unfortunately we did not get the room we were promised. front desk staff needs improvement of customer services, though our complain with the manager on duty was managed very professional.

« Lovely hotel on quiet side of island »

Excellent accommodations overall: staff is always pleasant and helpful and rooms are always clean. The rooms are comfortable and water view rooms do provide a wonderful water view. The hotel management has apparently cut corners on very cheap toilet paper, which is like sandpaper. Take your own unless they upgrade.

« Close to airport across Street from Ocean »

Trolly (for pay) and bus transit pickup right at hotel. Superloud airplanes since you are 4 min from airport and in the flight path. Across the street unimpeded views from outside, of the ocean, with an ocean walkway. Pool is nice and big, with towels available. Lots of loungers but no little tables for beverages & belongings. Limited hours at pool, you couldn't get in before 10, or after 8pm, there was no where else to be except go to your room or go into town. Pool bar served typical light bar fare food and drinks, it was OK. Free Breakfast with individual cereals, juices, boiled eggs, waffles (you cook), oatmeal, Bob Evans breakfast sandwiches and burritos (not very good), bananas, and apples. Coffee and tea. This is not in town, which is generally quieter.

« Stayed for the 2016 Key West Paddle Classic »

The room was ordinary and pricey but hey its Key West so I was close to everything but far enough away that you could relax. The Italian restaurant a walk away was incredible, and loved my room at the top over the pool with a balcony was perfect.. the pool and pool bar shut down in the evening so you can relax in your room, or visit the islands famous social scene. Best Cuban coffee at Sandy's café.

Great Hotel, I will definitely stay again. The Location was great for me, considering I was only 10-15 minutes away from Duval Street. This location has a lot of places nearby if you need to get to the around the way store, you would normally have as if you were home.

    « Beautiful location »

We enjoy our stay here. It was among the top Best Western hotels we've stayed in. Grounds were so pretty and even had coconuts on the palm trees. Our last morning there, we saw an iguana stroll across the parking lot. Very clean and well kept property.

« Honeymoon in Key West »

This was our first trip to Key West and what a great experience! It was our honeymoon and when we arrived the hotel had upgraded our room and had chilled champagne waiting in the room. The pool area and Tiki bar were awesome. We really enjoyed the guided bus tour around Key West that takes off right from the hotel. Everyone we met was positive and helpful. Beautiful spot and a wonderful stay. Everything was very clean and well kept.

« Great place - mellow, water view, good breakfast »

We had the king size ocean view room and it was GREAT for a family trip to Key West. Pool is great, room was big, staff was great - decent value and if you like to walk /bike along the ocean, this is the place to be! 10 minute ride to Duval Street and a little out of the rat race which we like

« Ok hotel in the keys »

I would say this place has a motel feel about it... It's clean and tidy with friendly staff. The rooms are a little dated in look and feel but were clean and tidy. The air con units in the rooms are extremely noisy to the point I wanted to switch it off and just put up with being hot! Breakfast was a simple affair but adequate. Lots of free parking was good, would say the place is ideal to stop off, would struggle to stay more than a few days...

« Very Nice Motel - Clean, Nice Size Rooms »

Our group stays at the Best Western Key Ambassador every year. They have a very nice staff, large, clean rooms, and a nice pool area with a waterfall feature. The grounds are nice and tropical and the hotel has a Benihana Japanese Restaurant in walking distance. Plenty of parking.

Great location! Very clean and friendly place. Pretty. Good breakfast, with many different choices. Ocean view room was good. And king size bed just awesome! Would come back anytime and would recommend to all. Thank you

This is a very nice comfortable motel away from the chaos of Duval St. Only a few mile to all the action but quiet at night so you can sleep. More affordable than Duval but just as nice. Highly Recommend!

Our room was clean, the view was beautiful and we were close to the ocean and the pool. We had easy access to walking along the ocean. The price for the room was fair. Continental breakfast was great. We enjoyed every minute of our time staying here.

« Hotel for leisure trip »

My husband and I stayed in Key West for 4 nights because of a family wedding that weekend. Most of the staff was friendly, especially the bartenders at the tiki hut by the pool. The outdoor pool area is really nice! It's a large pool with lots of lounge chairs around it. There are a ton of pretty palm trees in the pool area so it felt like we were at a fancy resort. We thought the tiki hut by the pool was very convenient because they served food and drinks. The rooms are clean, the beds were very comfortable and they have free Wi-Fi and a flat screen TV. The bathroom could use some updating but at least it was clean. There was a small outdoor balcony with two chairs & a small table. It was screened in which was nice so no bugs bothered you. We hung out there quite a bit. The complimentary continental breakfast is okay. The best part was the waffle maker and the coffee. They had flavored creamers which we love. It also offered whole bananas & oranges, a variety of individual cereal boxes, bread or English muffins to toast. We liked the outdoor seating area at breakfast since the weather was beautiful. This hotel is not within walking distance to Duval St. but we drove there every night and found free street parking. If you don't mind walking a bit then it's no big deal. We liked the view of the ocean that's across the street from hotel. We also walked to Smathers Beach (about 40 min walk). They had different activities there such as parasailing, jet skiing, paddle boarding and you could rent lounge chairs too. We would definitely return in the future! It was half the price of a lot of hotels in Key West that are close to Duval St. You just do not have that convenience factor.

« Off the beaten path »

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The property was beautifully landscaped and the pool area was inviting...I wish I had brought my bathing suit! Our room was on the first floor as requested and only two doors down from the breakfast room. The room was very clean, spacious, tastefully decorated and comfortable. Being close to the airport was not the draw back that I thought it would be as the airport is not all that busy and the planes neither fly late nor very early. Breakfast was from 7am to 10am. The continental breakfast consisted of fresh oranges and bananas, bread for toast, English muffins, several types of muffins, freshly made waffles with fruit, oatmeal, cold cereal and hard boiled eggs as well as juices, coffee and tea. Although it is not in Old Town, there is a stop for the Key West city bus right in front of the hotel and the ride is about 10-15 minutes to South Street and Simonton where we planned to get off. I would not recommend using the city bus except in the morning as it does not run frequently and shuts down early. A cab ride from Whitehead and Eaton ran about $23 without tip. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and will probably stay there when next in Key West.

If you are wanting to be close to DeVal Street find another hotel - The hotel is dated-The Tiki hut is nice and has been remodeled but the people who work there are not that nice- We had an ocean view room for $300 per night - next time I would forgo ocean front & stay closer to town Breakfast is not great & does not have enough seating for all the guests The rooms are clean & the bed was comfortable

« Welcome to the relaxing side of Key West! »

Spent 2 nights at the Best Western Ambassador and was very happy with our choice. The hotel has lovely contemporary rooms, we had one with a sofa. Rooms were very clean, well furnished. Best of all, there is a large and beautiful pool. The staff was very friendly and helpful - especially Joey, thank you! Duval Street is about 10 minutes by car or trolley and we were happy to stay on a relaxed part of the Key rather then in the old town section.

    « Key Ambassador / Best Western »

As a Conch - growing up in Key West was not a tourist trap - it was a way of life. The Key Ambassador was always the place we would recommend to friends and family who visited our island. It still is! We came "home" for my 45th High School Reunion and I still absolutely LOVE the place! I should NOT recommend it because I don't want everyone else to find it when I need a room ... however ... as only a Conch can do ... I recommend it because you can wake up in the morning and smell the ocean ... carefully walk across the street and get a closer view ... but not only that ... EVERYONE WE HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED have been more than gracious in making sure our visit was memorable! I hope you enjoy your visit to our island --- and yes, we remember it before the "weird went pro(fessional)" ... back when the island was NOT known just because of the drinking ... but because it was a great place to grow up, live and share! (not sure how to answer a few questions - there are laundry machines available but I am not sure if it has a "laundry service" ... however - I am sure they can recommend one!

We get down to Key West five or six times a year and stay at a lot of places. This hotel has a great ocean view in some rooms, definitely ours on this trip, is well kept, clean, organized and setup to serve. The room was large, bed comfy and it had a large balcony overlooking the ocean.

« Clean, Nice, and Comfortable »

Best Western Key Ambassador has excellent parking. The rooms are modern, spacious and very clean. The cost per room is high considering it is not on the water or close to the main attractions. It does have easy access to US1.

    « a girls' fun trip! »

We picked our hotel through AAA for this brief college friends' trip, and couldn't have been more pleased with BW Key Ambassador Resort Inn. It was conveniently located across from the ocean, where you can walk on the path for quite a ways! We had a car, but it is a stop for the little bus that'll take you to downtown. The staff was so friendly and considerate. The pool is BEAUTIFUL, with a tiki bar where you can order food, too. This is a well-kept-up, very nicely decorated older hotel and we'd stay again here, for sure!

« Nice hotel, but bit far from downtown »

The hotel was nice, but it takes a busdrive to get to downtown Key West or a taxi. The room & pool were very nice and the beds were exceptionally nice, but the breakfast is poor (just processed stuff served with plastic cutlery). In addition, some of the hotel staff seemed somewhat fed-up with their work.

« Everything is nice, except........ »

Roomy, has a balcony to enjoy the ocean and pool view. Good breakfast selection with enough seating. Except, the air conditioning is located beside one of the bed. If you don't need to turn it on is okay, otherwise it's noisy and bothering the person sleep besides it. Overall is okay, at least we've experienced sleep over at key West.

Stayed 5 nights here for Spring Break with the family. Large, spacious rooms with a screened balcony in back. Beautiful birds and iguanas on the grounds. Pool was beautifully landscaped and although next to the road, it was hidden well. Room decor was average, but worked for our stay. Breakfast had numerous choices, more than in other Best Westerns. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Location is at the opposite end of Key West, but it worked for us. Trolly picks up right in front of property and the public transit bus does, too. Airport is right next door, so if flight noise could be a problem for you, don't bother staying here. We were only in our rooms in the evening, so it didn't really bother us. I'd stay here again.

    « Comfortable Stay »

The hotel is located not far from the airport & is very near from Key West, either by car or by bus. The room was alwas very clean. The pool area is lovely. The only downside was that they stop serving meals at 17.30, so you HAVE to go out to get something and then, during our stay the hotel was fully booked for Springbreak and we honesly only went once for breakfast & it was basically impossible to get something to eat....

    4
    « Heads up »

The hotel location is nice, however, be aware that it is located at the departure end of the Key West International Airport. Departing jets can be very loud and, for some, off-putting. The good news is that they do not depart very early in the day and not at all at night.

« MORE THAN WE COULD HAVE ASKED FOR!!!!! »

We stayed at this hotel on April 7-8, 2016. We had no reservations upon arrival and they were very accommodating. The staff was very friendly and the room was spacious and clean. We had an ocean view room which was amazing. This side of town is quiet and not very congested. The breakfast was spectacular. The pool is huge!!!!! No problem parking, plenty of spaces. Would DEFINITELY stay here again and again and again.

« Good stay - Right at the airport »

We choose this property for a one night stay in Key West due to needing to be at the airport the following morning. The room was clean, renovated and very comfortable. The bed was also quite comfortable. We stayed in a king room overlooking the water. Periodically, planes would fly over. When I was in the room, I felt like the planes were directly overhead, but after flying in and out of Key West, I could see the hotel from the air and the planes were not as close as they seemed looking up from the ground. The breakfast area seemed very small for the size of this property, but there were only a few folks up and having breakfast when we were, so it was OK. I think there was more seating outside, but I am not sure how much. The breakfast offering were varied and there were "breakfast on the go" bags in the lobby when we checked out for people leaving early. The staff was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Amazing pool »

This hotel was very large. We especially enjoyed the very large pool with poolside bar that served very generous portions of food. The trolley tour stops right at the hotel which was a real bonus. Plentiful parking. We liked that we could go make tea and coffee in reception whenever we liked. We had a quiet verandah too, though not with a view. The sea is right across the street - not a beach, but lovely views. It's about 2 miles from downtown Key West but easy to access via taxi or the trolley bus. Good buffet breakfast. Excellent service on front desk. Room was two beds in one room. Not as good as a suite for a family, but perfectly adequate.

« One of Key West's Finest Gems »

Right near the airport with shuttle service to Downtown is one of the most beautiful things in Key West... You have got to check out the pool area and this Sumptuous food that is served during the day while sunny.. Or enjoying your favorite libation by the pool... I wish to commend the general manager Armida Averette on such an excellent job she has done not only to maintain the property but revamp almost every single room... You will not find anything cleaner or more beautiful in Key West for the best price.. I have used this place consistently over the last three decades for my better weddings and brides and grooms... Once again thank you for keeping keywest lovely Charming and one of the best hotels I've ever encountered in my travels!

    4
    « Good Value! »

We were happy with our stay here. There was a quick shuttle that picked us up from the airport. It was clean. The rooms were slightly dated and our screened in porch area needed repairs on the screens, but the beds were comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast that is included in the price is good. In addition to waffle makers, cereal, oatmeal and fruit, there were Bob Evans breakfast sandwiches and burritos. We loved the pool area and the Cheeky Hut (by the pool) was convenient for drinks/snacks. There is also an attendant in the pool area offering towels if you don't bring your own (we didn't.) There were many lounge chairs and tables for everyone. We didn't use it, but there is a laundry area that costs, but I'm not sure of the amount. There is also a business area if needed. If you take an "Old Town Trolley" tour, the trolley makes a stop at this hotel. You can also rent bikes here by talking to the front desk staff (they call the bike company and set it up for you?$15 for 24 hours.) This hotel is across the street from the ocean. We didn't have an ocean view, but some of the rooms do. There is a very nice wide sidewalk across the street that many people bike/walk/jog on. There is no swimming across the street, but Smathers Beach is just up the street. Higgs Beach (nicer than Smathers) is just a little further down with a nice looking playground.) Compared to other places, (it's all expensive?LOL!) this Best Western seemed to be a good value. The ONLY reasons we might try another spot are the location. It's less than 5 minutes from the airport, so you hear planes coming and going from time to time. Some planes were heard as early as 7am. The other issue for us was the distance from the "touristy" things at the other end of the island. We flew in and purposely didn't rent a car. We figured we'd be okay without one. There is a bus you can ride and a pass for this for the week is very inexpensive ($5 for kids/$8 for adults). It's a long wait for the bus though. Sometimes it made it difficult and inconvenient to plan activities around this schedule. We ended up taking a taxi a few times. The cost for a taxi from downtown to our hotel was $5 per person ($20 for our family of 4). These were the only reasons we would try someplace closer. If you had a car or even a bike this might not be an issue for you. In spite of the occasional noise and our minor transportation issues, this is a nice place.

    5
    « Nice Stay - Good Value »

We chose the Key Ambassador after looking online quite a bit and being scared by the prices in Key West during spring break. We settled on this hotel mostly due to cost and proximity to the ocean/views. We were nicely surprised by the quality of the furnishings/updates and the view of the ocean from our room, and we appreciated the free breakfast. Overall, great family hotel with nice pool, clean & comfy rooms, and friendly staff.

« Oceanfront Room Is Spectacular »

Key West has a very strange price structure. Even the moderately priced brands like BW come with a high price. We were going to go with the pool view room at $270 and decided to spend an extra $50 on the oceanfront. It was a great view. With a slider door going out to the patio, plus another set of floor to ceiling windows, it was a giant framed view of the ocean. The king sized bed was comfortable and the room was unusually large, with a full sized pullout couch with a chaise lounger on the end of it. The bathroom was nice and everything was clean. Breakfast was included. Nothing special, but it was nice not to have to go out for breakfast at the high priced local shops. The pool area was very nice and clean, with a larger than average size. If this hotel was anywhere else, I'd never pay more than $225, but for Key West, it is what it is. I'd stay here again.

    « Great Place »

My husband and I are celebrating 45 years of marriage. We didn't want to be in the main section of Key West, so we booked this hotel. We got on the first floor with a pool view. Breakfast is included. Our room is clean and very nice. We have two full size beds, but that's ok. Our room has a fridge and a microwave. They provide free wifi. We are very happy with our choice.

    5
    « BW Key West »

The location is great, the pool was perfect and the staff outstanding. Great access to the public transportation. Along the ocean with great views. Bike path across the road. Easy in and easy out. The airplanes overhead did take some getting used to. They appeared to fly mostly in the daytime. It was a little pricey, but it was springbreak in Key West and was in line with other places.

« Spring Break Prices at Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn »

We stayed here because most of the places were looked were booked for spring break. This hotel is located near the Key West International Airport. We heard the planes taking off and landing in the morning (7 ish) and evening (9 ish). We didn't hear them passed 10:30pm. The rooms were spacious and clean. We had a microwave, small fridge and plenty of closet and drawer space. The bed was soft and comfy but I thought the pillows were too firm. There was a nice L shaped sofa too. We had a great view of the ocean from our room. No elevators in our section of the building. I thought the parking area at night could use more lighting. We did not use the pool. We ate breakfast one morning only. We thought it was in the same area as check in but it was 2 buildings over. The breakfast was great! They had coffee, juice, fresh fruit, milk, cereal, waffles, egg, sandwiches, burritos, yogurt and muffins. There wasn't a big seating area so arrive early or wait for the rush crowd to leave. They served breakfast from 7am to 10am. In the check in area, they had to go items such as waters and bananas. I thought the price was a bit high given the location of the hotel to downtown Duval street area. This place is about 20 minutes away by car, maybe without traffic, to the tourist area. If we had our choice, we would not stay so far away from the main tourist area. Especially, paying the prices we did. When we drove around, we noticed lots of vacancy signs around town and near the tourist areas.

« Great Location in the Keys »

This hotel is right next to the airport, but flights stop around 10 pm and start at 7 am. We had so many activities scheduled it did not bother us because we were up early all six mornings. The breakfast is more than ample, pool and bar is very clean and the food was excellent and a great value. We took our Shih Tzu and the housekeeping staff accommodate our scheduling needs in cleaning the room. Bike rentals are delivered to the hotel and the trolley picks up right at the front desk area! Bed mattress was very comfortable. The internet worked great with my Samsung ATT phone.

    4
    « Easter weekend »

We very much enjoyed our stay. Free breakfast was very good. Lots of room in the pool. The front desk call us in some rental bikes that got delivered to us. Also, we were right across the street from the Atlantic Ocean. The only bad comment we weren't allowed to being our own food or drinks in the pool area. Oh yea it's next to the airport.

    3
    « Nice pool »

Stayed one night. The pool is nice and spacious. But beware the employee handling the towels is a bit mean and you feel guilty asking for a pool towel. We liked the Continental breakfast. The noon checkout is nice. The AC in the room could be better configured as the person sleeping by it is freezing and others are too warm. But was OK as a nights stay.

We had a wonderful time staying here. The room was lovely and our view of the ocean was great ! Loved the Cheekie Hut and pool as well as most of the people who served us. I would definitely come back here again. Kudos to everyone who works so hard to make our stay enjoyable !

    « Beach?! »

Hotel pool and grounds are beautiful! We were very disappointed that the beach is not directly across the street, they say it is within walking distance, but on a hot day...no way! Enjoy the pool instead!

« Affordable (for Key West) but be Prepared for Pests »

This hotel is one of the more "reasonable" choices for Key West, rooms are fairly spacious and the pool area does have a nice view. The staff was friendly. When the airline left all my luggage back in Fort Lauderdale, they helped me get set up with basic toiletries and a bottle opener for wine on the first night. However, the hotel is not the cleanest and we unfortunately saw many bugs. :>(

« Key West too high a price for what you get »

Key West sucks, too much price gouging, bad food, bad service,,no parking, too expensive to park, too many people, traffic sucks, the only good things were the beach, the sunset,\\and the motel. The downtown was a zoo, too many people, too much traffic, too many ripoffs.

    « A Week in Paradise »

Our 4-day stay at this hotel was wonderful! The view of the ocean from our room and balcony was stunning. Our room was spacious and impeccably clean with beautiful tropical decorations and plenty of amenities. We loved the gorgeous pool area and Cheekie Hut and ended up spending a lot more time there than at the beach. The hotel is close to the airport, but the noise never bothered us while we were in our room. The location is in a peaceful area a few miles out of town, which made for quite a long walk (on the one night we tried that) but a very short drive to Duval Street. The staff was very professional and helpful. Overall, this was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at anywhere, and we will absolutely be back!

    « Amazing Honeymoon Destination »

Great location and amenities. Staff was helpful and friendly. The Cheekie Hut was reasonably priced and fun. I cried when I had to leave. Anyone looking for a spot on Key West on the quieter side (but still close to the action) should check this place out!

« Get away with friends »

This motel is very nice, clean and right on the ocean (viewing only, no swimming area). Our room looked over the pool and the ocean, we shared with another couple and still found it to be quite pricey for how we usually travel. But, Key West is not a cheap place to visit, so we figured it was a one time trip, so we splurged. The included continental breakfast was very good, lots of choices of hot or cold foods and fresh fruit. The trolley ran from the motel to downtown every hour from 9Am to 5Pm, with 13 stops along the way so you could get on and off all day long. The not so good things was the short hours for the trolley and also the pool, only open from 11AM to 7PM. Also the bar(which by the way made awesome drinks) and snack shack both closed at 5PM. Also "very" close by was the airport, thought they were going to land on the roof.

    3
    « Nice hotel - nothing special »

Not close to Old Town Key West - so you have to drive in and look for parking - which can be a challenge Room was clean, but dated, a little expensive for what you got Breakfast buffet was the usual - fruit, waffles, dry cereal

« Booking in.... what a difference a good receptionist makes.... »

After staying in a hotel where booking in was poor? we were greeted on arrival by Joey? Booking in was slick, and he made us feel welcome, and that he really wanted us to enjoy our stay? he explained everything, was clear, and genuinely helpful. I felt NOTHING was too much trouble! A good start. We liked this hotel; its location outside Key West main areas was not a problem with the bus stop right outside the hotel, and just 2 dollars to ride into town.

« Nice hotel that is well away from the hussle and bustle of the downtown area »

We had a fine room. It met all of our expectations. It was quiet and clean. The breakfast was fine. The hotel is quite a ways from the downtown area which means that it is not completely nuts here. There is easy access to the walkway along the ocean, but we didn't take time to use it.

« Oldie by the Airport »

I don't know when this property opened but it is showing its age. The rooms are very spacious but the bedding hasn't been updated in years. The pool area is kept in pristine shape and provides for sunny as well as shady areas. If it weren't for the location at the end of the airport runway a day by the pool would be very enjoyable.

    « Georgeous!! »

This place is located by the water. We got a beautiful view of the sun rise. The grounds are beautiful. The pool is awesome, very large, clean and the water was warm. We were there early March, 2016. Nice place.

    « Good choice »

We stayed here for 1 night, the room with very nice and large with sofa and king size bed. You have a coffee machine and fridge in your room as well. Yes there is planes very loud in the day because this hotel is at the end of the runway but didn't bother us no noise at night. The breakfast which is included was good although a little crowded they good use more room for that. The pool area and bar lovely. You definitely have to drive or bus it to the old town. The beach is across the street very nice.

    « Nice location »

Very nice room. Nice location. Nice pool area. Not really worth almost $400 a night, though. The location next to the ocean was a big plus to why we chose the hotel. The bed pillows were terrible, which was a shame for what was otherwise a nice room.

« Nice place to stay... »

We stayed for 5 day in the beginning of March for our Dive trip. Nice cozy place. Breakfast was good, nice variety and great for a grab and go for our early morning dives. It is across the street from the ocean and a nice view..the beach is about two miles down the street on the sidewalk, nice walk w nice ocean breeze. It is not hard to get downtown from here either--car, bus, taxi, Uber The airport isn't that bad as people make it out to be, and yes there is a Naval air station that is heard as well. People are lazy and should research more as to where to stay, inducing maps and locations, hence the lack of surprise that the airport was right there... But as most review are saying including this one: The planes are during the day and usually done by 7:30-8:30 pm, planes are not as frequent like Boston, Newark, DC. It is an older hotel, but still clean and spacious and the employees are friendly. Highly recommend

    « Diving trip »

Spent last few days down in key west for diving. The hotel was clean and close to airport. Didn't really notice the airport noise. I suppose if you were staying there the whole time you would notice it slot more but we were gone most the day The staff the friendly The breakfast was better than I expected and despite being busy the breakfast area was clean and well stocked We did go toward the pool one night around 7 and the tiki hut was already closed which we thought was a bit early (it would be nice to sit at hotel and relax by pool and have a drink Til 9 or so). If you are looking for right in duval street it's a little out of way but I liked that it was quieter with a nice view and not that far from main attractions

« Step into the Past »

This reminds me of '50s motel that has been painted many times but the true comfort items have not been upgraded in many years; namely the bedding. The "motel" like facility is at the end of the airport runway, while not terribly noisy at night does not add to a relaxing time around the pool,

    « Highly recommended »

We have been to Key West 3 times and stayed here every time. Well run, clean and quite. Really good breakfast with plenty of variety but a very small dining area. Would stay there again. In a good location but close to the airport so plane noise can get annoying sometimes but no issues at night.

« Great hotel, friendly staff, awesome views! »

My recent stay at the Key Ambassador was wonderful. I had great views of the pool and the Atlantic Ocean from my room. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming. I loved the pool and the Mahi Mahi bites at the Cheekie Hut. I highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in Key West.

We stayed here as easy access for driving and quick access to Key West downtown. Quiet for sleeping and very comfortable. Good value. Staff helpful and the added Laundromat area was a bonus for our 3 week road trip.

« Got a nice upgrade to oceanfront »

We only stayed here for a night but we were very comfortable and the bed was great. We got upgraded to an oceanfront room when we checked in and it was super beautiful. There is a laundry room on site and the breakfast buffet was really nice and they had plenty of seating. There is lots of parking.

    « Go for it! »

Just got back from five days at the Key West Ambassador. i was very pleased with this hotel and would definitely stay there again. I am going to start with what i feel has to be cleared up. This hotel is NOT by a beach as some have posted. The pictures on the hotel website seem to show a beach. The hotel is OCEAN front but there is a bulkhead there, not a beach. There is a small beach about a mile away but the "real" beach (Fort Zachary Taylor) is the other side of the island. The hotel is in a quiet section of the island with very little surrounding it. The airport is nearby but the planes didn't bother me at all. Never heard one before 7AM. During the day, quick flyovers. The location is miles from Duval Street but transportation is readily available. The Old Town Trolley stops right in front of the hotel as does the city bus ($2.00/$.50) Taxis are $20.00. The rooms at Ambassador are large and very clean. Bed was super comfy and room was quiet. Had a small issue the first night and maintenance was there within 5 minutes. Staff was delightful! The front desk women were very helpful with questions regarding transportation etc. The continental breakfast offered a lot of choices and was an excellent way to start the day. The pool is heated and delightful! Lots of lounge chairs around it and towels were provided. I really like the bar/grill at the pool. Cold drinks and quesadillas around the pool are pretty hard to beat. This is the only "restaurant" on the premises and it closes at 7PM so be sure to have dinner plans somewhere else. This hotel was an excellent value in terms of Key West prices. I would highly recommend it to anyone going to Key West. I would have given it five stars if only that beach had been there.

« Vest Value on the Island »

I use this hotel for business. It is clean, well maintained. If your new to Florida or the tropics it's a great little place to start out with without going broke. The Trolley tops here as do the local cab services. Cab prices are low usually because people share rides On the key. Any room issues are handled quickly with professionalism found in high end establishments. Highly recommend this Inn. Remember though if your're venturing here during Fantasy Fest or one of the Off Shore Boat races the whole Key is a supply and demand environment. Make those reservations early or you may be staying in Marathon, Largo or Miami. Downside. During the day it can have a noise issue because of location close to the most used runway at the airport and proximity to the Naval Air Statin on Boca Chica. This is not a normal visitor problem. I am a night time freight pilot and sleep during the day. So I am not a typical tourist. But have been in the keys dozens of times. This is still a super hotel.

    « Key West hotel »

We booked this hotel based off the website stating it was oceanfront as well as me calling to book directly with the hotel to ensure it was an oceanfront room. When we arrived we were extremely disappointed to find out there is a very busy 4 lane road I between the room and the ocean. Personally I would not call that ocean front. Then we were also disappointed by the proximity to the airport which is literally in the hotels back yard! I was looking for a peaceful beach vacation where I could relax any hour of the day I wanted! Having jets fly over all day long is the opposite of relaxing! The room itself was nice but definitely not what I expected! Very misleading!

« Beware of barking dog »

We had a dog in the room next to us that either whined or barked the entire time the owners were out of the room. The hotel was very nice and easy to find. I just wish the animal friendly rooms were separated from the others. We have dogs, but nobody wants to listen to someone else's dogs bark and whine.

Really well located. Trolley tour stops right outside. Nice large rooms. Ours had a view out on to the Atlantic. Pleasant breakfast room with outside terrace. Friendly, helpful staff at reception desk. Cheekie bar right beside great pool.Good food and cold beer. Keep a look out for wild iguanas!!!

« Not the greatest location, not the worst hotel »

The staff and the property were great. The breakfast and the people working the kitchen area were amazing, could not say enough great things about them. But, the location of the hotel is it's downfall. The hotel property is really close to the airport, I mean really close. Other reviewers stated the airplanes did not bother them, where were they staying? The plane's flight path is directly over the hotel property. If you are sitting by the pool during daylight hours, a plane would grab your attention as it passed over. Everything from little puddle jumpers to large passenger planes went right over us. This is not a major problem if you are using the hotel as just a sleeping area. Flights a few at night and do not start much earlier than 7:30am. The main attractions on Key West are over 3 miles from the hotel. Too far to walk everyday (we did walk to Duval street, walked around there and walked back to the hotel, our FITBIT said we walked 12 miles). A Taxi to town is about $20, The bus is $2. The taxi was more convenient for us. A bus stop and trolley stop is right out in front of the hotel. The airport, being so close makes taxi arrival swift.

« Best Western, Key West »

Friendly and helpful staff, nice location right across the street from the water. Beautiful pool with a pool bar. The room was clean, large and comfortable as was the bed. The room came with a refrigerator, microwave, TV and a coffee maker. Wi-Fi worked fine and was free. The one disadvantage is the airliner that comes screaming over the top of the hotel about 7:30 am. I was already awake but you might find this disconcerting if you are a late sleeper.

    « great stay »

Reasonably priced with a good breakfast and a beautiful view of the sunrise. We had a nice clean room with comfortable beds. Easy and fast check in and located right by the airport. If you want to photograph the sunrise you can sit on the sidewalk across the street at the seawall and spend a half hour watching. Watch for skimmers (birds) flying across just above the surface of the water.

    5
    « What view! »

Our room (156) was very large, clean and our view of the ocean was spectacular. Sunrise and sunsets were amazing. Our room was ten steps from the breakfast area which was generously stocked with fresh fruit, oatmeal, breakfast sandwiches, waffles and drinks to choose from. All of the staff were courteous and helpful. The heated pool was wonderful since the temps were a bit cool for the week. The pool bar is great! You are close to the airport but it didn't bother us as the takeoffs and landings are limited. Easy transportation to Duvall and walking distance to some great restaurants. Great wifi! Would definitely stay here again.

    3
    « Very average »

I know Key West is an expensive town to stay in but it is hard to pay so much for a very average hotel. The room was clean. The staff was friendly. The breakfast was average but there wasn't enough seating. The pool was heated nicely! My biggest complaint is the extremely loud airplane noise. It is literally deafening.

    « Enjoyable Stay! »

Hubby and I stayed here for 2 nights in a room overlooking the pool.It had a screened in patio. We were on the ground floor. We thought it was very nice. The room was kind of dark but not an issue for us as we didn't spend much time there. It was very clean and modern. The location was awesome although it was a drive to Duval St. We did not have trouble parking around Duval St. The tiki bar was great ! My lunch,a fish sandwich was delicious!!! The trolley tour stops at the front door. We took the tour 1 day and then drove back to Duval at night. The airplanes went overhead ( near the airport) but did not bother us. The location on the water is beautiful!!! I had to walk a short distance to the other building for breakfast..I just used the tray in the room to bring it back to the room .Again ,not much of an inconvenience unless it was raining. In that case eat in the breakfast room.We will stay again in BW in San Diego soon and will write again. Best Westerns are pretty good. I have stayed in many. We would stay in this one again in a minute!

« Great place to stay »

This hotel is located right across from the beach. It has a great free breakfast. It is conveniently located near restaurants and a shopping center. The room was very clean and comfortable, and the "trolley" stops here. One should be aware that there is no elevator, and it is located near the airport. However, we did not hear that many airplanes. Some might think the A/C is a bit noisy, but we found it to be satisfactory. The grounds are well maintained, and the staff were very helpful.

    3
    « Eh- »

There isn't anything "wrong" with this hotel, but there isn't anything "great" about this hotel either. For the price that you pay, I would expect this hotel to be in better shape. I understand this being a tourist town hotel prices are ridiculous. Upon check in our room wasn't ready & we were told that they would call us when it was ready. We never received a phone call, which irritated me. There was an awful sewer smell right outside of our room, which was awful. The pool was nice, as well as the continental breakfast which had a really nice selection and the lady working it was very very nice. If you are looking for a hotel that is close to things to do, this is not the place. If you wanted to do the touristy things you are a few miles away from.

« just checked in but love this place »

room is wonderful, clean, large, and view of the harbor, what more could you ask for, we just checked in today, but couldn't have been a better welcome and location, yes,, close to airport but that just adds to ambiance of location...very interesting watching planes so close...

    « Beautiful Hotel »

Gorgeous setting with the ocean just across the street. Pool was perfect! A Tikki Bar that also served food that was delicious! The breakfast room was neat and clean, had the option of eating outside. Each room has a screened in porch.

    « Good value »

We stayed in an ocean view room with our own private balcony. So glad we did. Spacious room, clean, comes with small fridge and microwave. There is a nice sidewalk across the street to walk along the water. The pool area was clean and beautiful. We swam there once because the weather turned cold..Nice friendly staff. Free parking. We were not bothered by the airplanes taking off and landing but yes that is loud. We did not like the breakfast there very much so only ate there once. We appreciated the coffee.

This hotel was a great balance of decent cost, comfort, location, and quality. The staff was friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was convenient and tasty. The pool is heated. Easy drive to downtown.

    « As expected »

The room was spacious and clean. The bed wasn't very comfortable, a little stiff for our liking. The downtown area was about a 10 minute drive away, we wished we had been closer to Duval Street. The front desk staff was friendly and willing to help with any questions or concerns. The grounds were well kept. The pool was warm and big.

    « 50th Wedding Anniversary »

This was our first trip to Key West and our 50th wedding anniversary. The manager and staff were all aware of our wedding anniversary and greated us with congratulations upon arrival. We were upgraded to an oceanview room and had champagne waiting in the room. The special attention offered by the manager and staff is something you do not find that often in today's world. Thank you.

    3
    « Disappointment »

The hotel failed to mention they were next door neighbors to the Key West airport. From 7 am to 11 pm jets were taking off and landing. The "on-site" restaurant was a pool bar that stopped serving food at 5:15. The provided hot breakfast was a refrigerated Bob Evans sandwich or breakfast wrap that needed microwaving. There were only two microwaves in the breakfast room. The lines were long and very congested. Guest seating was very limited. The room was very noisy due to poor sound proofing and entry door. On the plus side, the hotel does have a great location and ocean front. The pool area is very nice with adequate seating. And the WIFI was better than many hotel properties.

    4
« Nice, but a bit worn down »

It was a nice experience, but the hotel is bit worn down. The location is a bit away from the old city, but nice location by the water. Except for the occasional flight coming through - VERY loud. Nice pool and breakfast.

    4
« Clean rooms, warm pool »

Price was a bit high but it included fast wifi about 15-20Mb/s and a pretty good continental breakfast. The service was good in reception and especially at the pool bar. The pool was heated and water was easy to get in although weather was 68-72F. Two cons were that airport is just next to the hotel and AC has only constant fan mode so it's pretty loud. The first jet departed at 7.15 am on Saturday and the noise would have woke us up if our daughter wouldn't have :)

    5
    « Wonderful »

We paid a bit extra to have an ocean view--and I would highly recommend it. It was lovely to have such a wonderful view of the ocean. The grounds were beautiful. The room we had (155) was very large with a king size bed. It had a large couch with end tables, desk nice tv, microwave and fridge. The room was appointed well and well thought out little "niceties". There were paper plates and disposable silverware in the microwave for us to use, bottled water, lots of clean cups and glasses, all disposable and sanitary. The housekeeping staff was very friendly and nice to be around also. We spent 4 days there, and loved it!

    5
    « Awesome location »

I have to say, I booked this hotel as we were traveling around Orlando a fair amount and thought Best Westerns would be a safe bet. The hotel was great, it was set in a good location and although it's next to the airport you rarely hear them. I would highly recommend.

« Could have been better »

My friends and I stayed at your facility for a few days. When we arrived we were met by a very rude older blonde woman at the front desk. She rushed us through our check-in process and barely answered any of our questions. We finally got to our room and it was great; very clean with an ocean view which we enjoyed very much. During our stay we met the African-American girls at the front desk which we were very fond of. They were eager to answer all our questions and made us feel at home. They even recommended activities that we highly enjoyed. During our nightly visits to the front desk to say hello to the girls we noticed that they were standing all the time. When asked if they ever got a break ,we noticed they didn't really want to answer..I'm guessing for fear of their jobs. They told us everything was ok but we knew differently. It's terrible to ask employees to stand for eight hours without a break. We also visited the bar at the hotel and didn't have the greatest experience with Judy our bartender. She was very standoffish and borderline rude. She rudely answered our questions about the menu and never paid any attention to us. We noticed that she paid more attention to others at the bar that we assume were her regular guests. We ordered two Pina Coladas at the bar and upon check-out we noticed that we had a $50 bar charge which was incorrect. My advise to other visitors is check your charges when posting them to your room or settle it at the bar. Our overall experience was mediocre. The girls at the front desk made our stay a bit more pleasant.

    « Terrible experience »

We were travelling from Miami to this hotel. As were from the uk we had no wifi whilst driving. Hubby got an email when we stopped and hotel had cancelled both rooms ! Seems they do not phone uk phone numbers but as were from the uk this meant they did not phone us to advise an issue with our credit card. The hotel was charging the one nights accommodation to a card we had not intending using. When we arrived at hotel the receptionist charged us an extra $200 for the one nights stay for 2 rooms. We had no choice but to pay. They would not honour our original booking costs very very disappointing!!! Hotel itself is more motel. Good bit away from main bit of key west. We ended up with 2 rooms opposite ends of hotel. After the room debacle the hotel left a sour taste and we would not return. The free breakfast was OK breakfast room very small so hard to find seats. Would not recommend.

    5
« AVOID TRAFFIC AND PARKING HEADACHES »

You arrive at the hotel as soon as you enter Key West which allows you to avoid issues with traffic and parking. We took a trolley to get to places throughout the city and then took a cab back at night if we wanted to stay late. Then when it was time to leave, we were on our way. Room was large and comfortable. All staff was great!! Price was reasonable for Key West.

    4
    « Nice Comfortable Accomodations »

Very comfortable accommodations. Very clean with a nice staff. Near the airport and has frequent stops by local tour/bus companies....you can fly in, courtesy van to hotel and then use available public transportation to tourist sights. An adequate continental breakfast comes with the room. Do not worry about proximity of Key West Intl. - the location is good and in a quieter part of town.

    5
    « Vacation »

We choose this hotel for Key West as we have stayed there before, great location its not too far away from old town and tourist spots and shopping, fantastic location across the road from the ocean so beautiful views if you have an ocean view room, I will mention though the breakfast room is very small for the size of the hotel we had to take breakfast back to our room on more than one occasion due to there not being enough tables for people to sit and eat breakfast, but then most American hotels are the same in that respect

    5
« Highly recommended ! Nice view ! Great breakfast »

Great Service at the deal price that was offered. Booked around $232/night. The room was updated by front desk representative to sea side view with queen beds! Highly recommended stay! Nice seaside and pool view Great Breakfast including hot and continental!

« Great hotel for long weekend »

There was 12 of us for the marathon this past weekend. We stayed at the BW because the rate was reasonable. Though the hotel was old it is well kept. The rooms are nice and VERY clean. We were lucky and could see the sunrise from our room. Though the airport runway is behind you - honestly you couldn't hear the planes at night or early morning to disturb your sleep. The breakfast was good. Not enough seating but assumed we went when everyone else did. The grounds were really nice. The bartender at the Cheekie Hut was super nice. The pool area is very large. You are on the Old Town Trolley stop which meant you didn't need a car to get into town. The only complaint I have - the front desk (older gentlemen) had NO personality at all and we seemed an inconvenience to him. My reservations had 2 queens but we got a king. Which still worked. But the next am our toilet clogged. When I went to tell him he just kinda shrugged and said "oh". I advised him that we were going in town for 4-5 hours and no rush. He just again said "oh". Honestly owning a company and being a travel agent for 30 years. Not someone I would have at my front desk. The 2 colored ladies were very nice. Overall, great hotel outside of downtown and reasonable price.

« Alright for a night but expensive »

We stayed here for one night to check out Key West. Check in staff were very friendly and helpful. As others have mentioned it is adjacent to the airport but we didn't find the noise too bad. Rooms have been refurbished recently by the look of it and they were comfortable enough. Breakfast was OK pretty standard for free breakfast, cereals, toast, waffles etc. Duval St isn't too far away and we found the best parking was at the Westin hotel which was $4 hour. Overall hotel was OK just expensive for what you get but that seems to be Key West in general.

    5
    « Beautiful views »

Very nice room with balcony overlooking the pool, but I also had a wonderful view of the ocean across the street. The room was comfortable and had very nice pastel paintings on the wall. Brochures with info available in room. Lovely pool with nice landscaping that was very tropical. Bed was a little hard for me, but I am used to a Prana bed that cannot be beat! Nice stay!

    4
    « Confortable and convenient! »

My wife and I stayed for one night before New Year's eve. Good cost-benefit option for staying in Key West, confortably and at a convenient location (short driving distance) from main attractions and the Duval street. Large room with two beds, good shower, and continental breakfast included (a plus). Small coffee room, with relatively few tables that can be difficult finding seats when hotel is full (not a major problem). Two-story building that can be inconvenient for those with heavy pieces of luggages (ask for ground floor rooms).

    3
« Good hotel but a bit far from the action »

Hotel is ok although rooms feel a bit outdated. Pool is very big and fun for the kids. Its located on Key West but still quite a long way from shops, bars and restaurants in the town, e.g. Duval Street. Very pricey but this was also new years eve so i guess everything is.

« Upgrade to ocean view was worth it! »

Our king room was huge, had a balcony and we could see the ocean from the bed. Room 251. This is not a 5 star brand spanking new facility, but clean and away from the craziness of Duvall. Walk across the street to the sea wall and down to the beach. Note: the airport is not a noise issue . The breakfast room is small so we usually took a plate back to the room. Be sure to check the glass fridge in the breakfast room. It has microwave burritos and breakfast sandwiches. There's also cereal, waffles, fruit. You can stay here without a car if you A. Use public transportation B. Pay for the trolley that stops out front. C. Have a bicycle. We just paid for parking in town. (Meters are $2 per hour, lots are $4. For Hemingway, Southernmost, Truman, Mallory Square & Duval, we liked the parking garage at the Westin because you only pay for the time you use and no risk of a ticket)

    « Worst Expirence »

The night me and my husband stayed at this hotel we walked into the room and it was very nice. While we were relaxing we tried to turn on the TV and the cable was out. We went to the front desk and they told us there was a cable outage on the whole island. My husband called comcast to verify that there was an outage, but comcast said that they seen no issue. Not only did they lie about the outage but there breakfast was awful and there was limited selection. For the money we payed to stay in this hotel I would never stay here again.

Hello all your looking 4 out of the way places.. like to have airplanes fly overhead..and had a rude staff this is a hotel for you.. That said the rooms are okay ...the rates are up jacked up for somewhere that's miles from the nearest entertainment... and specifically the morning hostess CONNIE is extremely rude dismissive and unhelpful.. She even specifically told me that the level of service just depends on her mood that day. After making me wait 10 minutes while she brewed coffee for herself.. What she didn't know is that I'm a millionaire!! with multiple travelling friends .. and none of them will be staying there.. .POOR FORM even fora 'bargain hotel' chain.. My advice is to use the local hotels..there much friendlier and much more conveniently located..cheera

« We stayed at this hotel previously and had a very good experience. »

This trip the weather was cool and raining, so we spent more time in the room. We have no TV service for 50% of the time yesterday and 95% of the time today. Due to the temperature, the pool was closed as well as the pool bar, so we could not even buy lunch or an afternoon snack. I was told by the front desk that the TV service was down on the entire island; however, we had dinner next door and they had service. Think you need to change service? Also, better consideration for your guests when weather is not optimum. We will be looking at another hotel for our next trip.

« Very reasonable priced and comfortable hotel in Key West »

Room was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was good and staff helpful. The hotel is situated near Key West Airport so you will hear planes landing as they fly overhead but only during the day. To get to the Duval street you will have to drive or catch the bus which stops outside the hotel since its quite a long walk. The blue route bus takes you to centre of town and the green route bus takes you back. We bought a 7 day pass for $8. The buses are every 1.5 hours.

« Beautiful view and sunrise »

All staff were helpful and courteous. Breakfast was very good and the pool and bar were beautiful. Room was very clean. We liked the location, being away from the hustle and bustle of old town, even though you are near the airport it was quiet at night.

« Excellent staff, pool and view »

The staff at the breakfast were great and allowed us entry prior to the opening time. The gentleman at the Cheeki Hut bar at the pool was awesome interacting with guests and answering questions. Even the cleaning staff were helpful. The pool was wonderful! My husband and I enjoyed playing shuffle board on several occasions. Very clean and quiet hotel. Away from the hustle and bustle of old town, right across the road is the Florida straights and you get an awesome sunrise every morning! Highly recommend staying here.

    « Value Meets Quality! »

This review is long overdue. We were there for Thanksgiving weekend. "We" is 4 of us and our 50 pound pup. First impressions. This a motor inn or a motel and not a hotel. It's very retro. I think it's cool but if you need interior hallways, then don't stay here. The rooms open directly to the parking lot. It's just what it is. We were very happy with our stay. Sure, it's on the other side of the island from Mallory Square and all of that, but that isn't a bad thing. You can take the bus, or buy an all day pass on the trolley tour, or drive a car. It's walking distance to the airport. So yeah, you will hear planes from within your room and they start early. We stayed in the building closest to the shuffleboard courts. The view of water was nice. The room was clean and in good shape. The only issue was the toilet handle broke and they never fixed it. It was still usable, we just had to lift the tank lid and pull the chain. The offerings for the free breakfast were above average. They had two waffle makers and two employees keeping things stocked...it was very, very busy, but the staff did a good job keeping up. The grounds were in really good shape.

« Good Key West Resort »

Plenty of Ocean view rooms, Great pool area which has a tiki bar, recently updated, great staff, breakfast included, 5 minutes to downtown Key West (Duval Street), good for families with children, not for those who are looking for a party type atmosphere,

    « excellent service »

My stay in Best Western Key Ambassador was excellent. I felt that I was not alone having to deal with my husbands illness. He became sick the day after we checked in, The people at the service desk gave me a phone # and address of the closes Urgent Care facility. They were always there when I needed help of any kind for our comfort and well being. They fixed a bag for us with water and bananas and crackers for our journey home. The housekeeping helped with keeping clean towels and trash cans in our room. I will definitely keep these people in mind next time we travel and remember the kind and courteous people in Key West.

« Nice rooms and pool, situation not so good »

Hotel rooms were spacious and clean. Pool area nice. To Key West about 5 km. Breakfast was poor. But if you get this for a reasonable rate, this is a good choise. Good also with a car. Parking was free.

« A good option in Key West »

The Best Western Ambassador in Key West is set away from the all the hustle & bustle of down town Key West. It is a short, easy commute to down town. The ocean view from our room was magnificent. The value was very good and we were pleased with our choice to stay at Best Western and would likely stay there again.

« Nice place for a short stay »

This staff at this hotel are great. The hotel itself is adequate for a quick stay. The room was large and bathroom was updated- very nice. The grounds are well kept. They offer full breakfast. I would recommend this to someone and would stay again.

    « Bellow Average »

I usually stay at this Best Western about 10x a year on business. The staffs are nice, but not friendly. Haitian girl Sarah is very cute :) the rooms are OK, nothing spectacular for 300 bucks a night. Roaches are in all the rooms I have stayed, crawlling in bathroom during the night... Long walk just to get waffles & boilled eggs for breakfast. Rooms smell moldy. Nice ocean view!

    « a Key West secret »

A secret in KW at a good rate; has pool and other activities excellent all around. Brkfst is a bit weak though. Location is a the other end from Key West center, a few minutes by car, could walk it (~3 miles). Competitive rate given that its paradise(?).

    2
    « bad experience »

broken toilet, jammed sliding shower door (need two people to slide it open after the shower), could not open windows to get fresh air, no harbor view as opposed to what was advertised, very small breakfast room for the size of the crowd, smelly room-no ventilation Rude man taking care of the broken toilet with a wet plunger and leaving wet footprints with toilet water on the floor of the room Unaccomodating front desk when asked to change to a different room - no manager on duty on weekends to make decisions about room changes

    4
« Good facilities but a littlle out of town »

Very good quality accomodation with huge bed , very clean and tidy . Pool and bar also top quality . Its just too far from town to walk and so its a taxi or drive !! . But if you drive watch your alcohol intake !! . Really good hotel though and will be back for sure .

    « Old but great. »

Great location for my crew to cheer me on at my annual Key West tri. Great view from our bldg. ( see pic), others have view of beautiful pool area. Spacious rooms, easy access from the road. Few airplanes taking off in am from the airport nearby add flavor. Great lunch at the pool bar. If anything, would improve breakfast to serve better selection. Going again next year.

« Good value and nice location »

We stayed here for one night during a roadtrip to Key West. The hotel is located a little bit outside the Duval Street and the other tourist-areas, and that is not necessary a bad thing. You will need a car to go the the main street and the areas around, or just grab a taxi. We unintentionally visited Key West during Fantasy Fest, so we were happy with the location away from the main street. The hotel itself was clean and quiet. The rooms were pretty good and the beds were comfortable. We had a room at second floor of the boardwalk close to the reception, and this feels a little bit motel-like, without it necessarily being a bad thing. Some people complains about the noise from the runway at the nearby airport, but this didn't bother me at all. I heard it, yes, but I think it's great to wake up in the morning by a plane descending to the runway just over your head. I would stay here if I ever visit Key West again.

    3
    « Don't Bother »

This hotel is not a great value and don't waste time on their survey because it is very long. The pool closes very early so if you are going to arrive later in the day and want to go for a swim forget it. We had to leave early and the breakfast doesn't start until 7 so we couldn't use that either

    5
    « Enjoyable »

My husband and I stayed here for our 35th Wedding Anniversary, great room, beautiful grounds, pool area was fantastic. Out of the heavy traffic of Key West, but easy to get to and from everything. The room was huge! Nice screened-in lanai, lots of parking.

    4
    « 2-night stay »

The hotel is located away from the Duvall Street/Mallory Square area. If you drive and park to that area, you will have pay around $9 for three hours of parking time. More if you stay in the area longer. It is located in a less congested area and the only restaurant within walking distance is the Beni-hana. The hotel is a little dated, but the rooms are big and furnished adequately. They are a little dark. Our room had a blown out light bulb and a very loose bathtub fixture handle. Everything else was nice - grounds, etc. Look out for the iguanas that roam the streets. One draw back is that the hotel backs up against the Key West Airport. You are very close to the runways and they are fairly busy by day, but everything seems to settle down after 7 pm. so it doesn't bother sleeping. The sea wall and the the Atlantic Ocean is right across the street from the hotel, but a paid beach is much farther down the road. Generally a good place to stay if you want to be away from the downtown action and don't want to pay a lot of money.

    4
« Better experience, better view »

We came here from a Nice, so called better resort from Fort Lauderdale. After paying big bucks and no good view, were very happy to have nice room and a good view at a reasonable price. Staff at the desk was very helpful and checked us in earlier. They were polite and helpful. Property is clean and breakfast was good. Only thing the place is old and needs some latest touches. That is the only reason, I couldn't give 5 stars. Overall we had a nice experience.

« Just what we needed »

Was riding motorcycle in from miami .. But took the scenic option so we turned a 3.5 hr ride into a 9 hr ride.. Upon arrival ( around 10pm ) we received a war welcome... Quickly got our room key and off we were.. The room was what we needed clean /updated\\slight smell of mildew but we were in the keys and got a great rate.... The next morning we woke up to great views of the pool area and slight ocean view.... Breakfast was a plus at this rate it just made our morning ...waffles breakfast sandwiches ... Wished we could of stayed long that one night....

    « Great holiday stay »

Spent a three day holiday in Key West with my daughter and granddaughter and it was thoroughly enjoyable. The girls loved the pool and spent lots of time there. I enjoyed the outdoor lounge and took lots of pictures of their pool action. Employees were very courteous and helpful and everything in the room was great. Would consider returning again in the future.

« Nice stay at the Best Western in Key West »

I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western, the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was great, beautiful grounds well maintained. It is about 3 miles to downtown Key West, it was very close to the airport. You couldn't hear the planes from indoors, but you sure could from outside. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. I would stay there again. Nice pool bar, very friendly service.

    5
    « Great »

Nice and clean. Massive room, like the sink outside the bathroom.pool was great and breakfast was good bit small for the number of rooms but good choices. Good area, quiet plenty of parking. Staff friendly.

    « A Hidden Getaway »

We arrived at the Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn much earlier than expected. We went in to inquire what time we could check in knowing it was way too early. To our surprise we were told a room is ready and we were able to check in. The room was clean, larger than expected and the best feature a screened lanai. We felt at home instantly. The pool is large and beautiful and over looks the ocean. Just stunning. There is a nice pool bar that offers snacks and drinks. Coffee and tea is offered in the lobby 24/7. The free breakfast was excellent, Bob Evan's Egg and Sausage Sandwiches, Waffles, Cereals, Assorted Breads, Fruit, Yogurt etc. Even though this hotel is located near the airport, you never hear the airplanes. Occasionally you hear the Jets from the US Naval Base. Maid service is excellent. Would definitely stay here again.

    5
« Very clean and good location »

We enjoyed the room and location. The amenities were very nice. The trip to town was not too long and the helpful staff informed us of other transportation choices. They were always friendly and the room was very clean, which I always appreciate! The grounds are well kept and tropical, very nice!

    « Key West »

In a word the Best Western Ambassador in Key West, is an awesome place to stay in Key West. It's probably "the BEST". The service, the staff, the offerings of this location , their ability to satisfy your needs is second to none.

    4
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

When we opened the door to the room I couldn't believe how big it was! They had an above average sized refrigerator for a hotel. There was a microwave and good sized TV. The shower had awesome water pressure. I adore a good shower. A decent breakfast was included and the staff was lovely.

    2
    « Need a new GM »

Front desk personnel need training in hospitality. Rooms smell very bad of chlorine. Breakfast is a disaster. Need a new GM with brain.I suggest to find other place and let the management learn haw to make this hotel wort the price they asked for.

« Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn, Key West »

Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn, Key West, Great Value and location for price in KW, Great walk along ocean side and smathers beach an hour walk to Duval st, occasional aircraft approach traffic in early morning

    3
    « AIRPORT ALERT!!!! »

Please be aware that the jet planes from the Key West Airport take off DIRECTLY over your rooms and they begin flights at 6AM. If there were anyone working on the roof of the hotel they would have to duck down so as not to get hit by the low flying jets. Also the air conditioning is a window air conditioner (through the wall) and is so noisy that you have to have the TV volume about 3/4 of the way up in order to hear it. Couple that with the frequent jets, and then seriously consider whether you should pay a little bit more and stay elsewhere where you might have a little more peace and quiet.

    2
« Dark dirty broken room »

Beautiful pool and bar. Nice breakfast area . Nice employees. The room was dark as hell. The dark carpet was filthy. I dropped a wet towel and my towel had dirt on it from carpet. The toilet did not work and had to be "fixed" twice by "maintenance people". The shower control knob was falling out of the wall. Not worth the money charged.

    4
« Easy access to golf course and many restaurants. »

We have stayed here several times because of the convenience to the golf course and if you don't want to be downtown and away from the business and action of Key West it's a great place to stay. Nice restaurants close by,

    5
    « Great!! As usual »

We love this place and look forward to coming here ever year. The staff is great and look out for you 24/7. This is not a motel, this place is paradise, over looking the ocean. Great pool and bar. You can meet many new friends to be and enjoy the beauty of this place in paradise

    « Spacious room »

The location of the hotel is great if you prefer to be away from Old Town and the traffic. The room I had was spacious and very clean. Housekeeping arrived everyday, unlike so many other hotels. As I was there on business, I did not appreciate having a group of twenty somethings in the next room. They arrived on my last night and were very loud inside and outside their room. The staff member upon check out was friendly but the one that I had at check in apparently had a bad day. That is why I did not give 5 stars for service. Overall a nice place to stay for couples and families but wouldn't recommend it for business. They do not have a business center and only offer fax and copy services, for a fee of course.

    5
    « best place »

this place was fantastic, so convenient and close to the water front and shops. Staff were fantastic, breakfast was included and this was really nice, didn't have any pancakes or waffles. Pool bar was fantastic for service and food...yum the chicken wings

    « Cleanest Hotel I've Ever Seen! »

We had an ocean front room for the past few days before we checked out and headed to other beach destinations in Florida. This hotel and their housekeeping staff take service and cleanliness to superior levels. Believe me, I've traveled for years and have stayed at many hotels. Their complimentary breakfast was very nice and the dining area service was very prompt and courteous. The pool was very well kept and the service, food, and beverages at the tiki hut out there was very nice. I have food allergies and they were attentive to this. I was surprised to notice that in a tour book from AAA they only gave this hotel two diamonds for a rating. I believe this is completely unfair; this hotel was fantastic!!!!

« Okay, but too Pricey »

We were taking the 8:00 am flight to Dry Tortugas National Park the next morning, so we wanted to stay at Key West. It was a Saturday night in November - and boy, is Key West expensive. That being said, we paid $300 (with tax) for a kind bed room. It was 90 degrees and humid the day we were there - and we were disappointed that the pool closed at dusk. We would have loved to be out swimming at 8/9:00 at night to cool off. The room was nice - linens were clean. We appreciated the free wifi, free parking (right outside the room), and free breakfast. However, that being said - I would have been happier with a $120 price tag for the room - but it is what it is - a hotel room on Key West. Across the street is the ocean, but not a beach. There is a bike path that follows the ocean that will lead you up the street to a beach. The airport is very close (not a lot of plane traffic, but it is loud when it happens). All in all, I would stay here again when visiting Key West, but I just don't think it will ever be in the budget again.

    5
« Great hotel, nice area »

Really enjoyed our stay here, everyone working there was very pleasant, it was in a pretty spot on the island, across the street from the ocean, nice pool and tiki hut bar, would return again in the future.

    3
« The place is just a hotel nothing spectacular »

I would suggest if you are going to spend 300 a night go further in to the keys. The room was clean and place was ok but not worth the money. The front desk i found lack of knowledge and is not wanting to go out of their way for the guest. This hotel should charge 59.95 a night would be more fair. Also found i called to find out where the beach was and other things only to be told one thing and foud it wasnt true so read the reviews before picking.

« Our stay at Key Ambassador during Fantasy Fest »

This motel is not a luxury motel but it is clean and attractive and serves the purpose that we need. The pool is large and we enjoy spending alot of time there relaxing. The food & drinks at the bar hut are very good so no need to go out. The employees are very friendly and helpful and I think you would enjoy your stay there. There is plenty of parking which is not available at several of the inns.

« Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Key West »

This was our 3rd time to Key West. We came with our kids the last 2 times and this time just me and my husband. It is a wonderful, clean, relaxing and especially beautiful place to stay. It is just a short drive to the busy shopping areas and Duval street but a great place to just relax also. The Tiki bar and breakfast were really good and open for generous amounts of time. We enjoyed our stay there very much and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Key West.

    5
    « Family fun »

We really enjoyed our stay. I've stayed at the same hotel on two other occasions and have been highly satisfied all three times and made sure to book rooms at this location to bring my sister and her husband so they also could enjoy their stay as I have. If I decide to visit Key West again I will book with the same location

    2
    « Not a dream vacation hotel. »

I thought that this hotel will be a dream vacation in Florida like my friends posted on Instagram. Super8 can do better than this old property. The room is gross. Sheraton next door is cheaper and better, low class breakfast, faked hotel pics. I gonna recommend to the hotel that they should do better laundry sheets, higher quality breakfast, and that's would make this hotel a better place.

    « NICE RESORT »

Good location, short walk to the beach. Rooms recently renovated. Very nice pool and bar. Great motorcycle destination hotel. Parking right outside the hotel room makes it convenient. Very good WiFi, free breakfast with plenty of options.

    3
« Trip to the Keys »

Over all was not too bad, a bit pricey but its Florida. The free breakfast was good to start the day and was easy to catch public transportation. Free shuttle to and from airport unless you get in before 7AM or leave before 7AM, then will cost you $15.00 to air port. The Resort is 6-8 minute walk but with luggage and if it is raining not good, Needs to do better to accommodate early departures.

    « Lost in the 50 with you ! »

I always wonder what happened to the old couch my day through out in 1955. It live in this motel. It is just easiest to list what is wrong with this place. The decor it out of the fifties. I request an Ocean View room and they failed to tell me that between the room and the ocean in the business road way in Key West, plus a walk path so every one walking by stares in your room. The section of the motel they located me in hand no luggage carts which is handy for the extended stay guests. The motel sits at the end of the runway for the airport so if you have issues with planes flying 30 feet over your head you might be a bit uncomfortable. The front desk is clueless about island and how to get around. We bought shuttle tickets from them and they didn't bother telling us we had to go out on the north side of the lobby to be seen by the drivers so we waited and watched for them to come through the front. Needless to say we missed the bus and had to wait 30 minutes for the next one. We had a great time in Key West but every minute in the motel was torture.

« very clean, comfortable hotel, but next door to airport »

I find Best Westerns can be hit or miss. Though not the lap of luxury, this hotel was quite nice. It's been around for many decades, but they have done a good job of keeping everything updated. The room, bathroom, and common areas were all clean. Our room was very spacious. Even with a king bed, there was plenty of room for a sitting area with a couch and coffee table, and it still didn't feel cramped. The free wifi seemed to work ok for us. There is a large outdoor pool on site. They also offer a free breakfast. They call it continental, but it did include frozen breakfast biscuit sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Again, not luxurious, but quite good. It also included DIY fresh waffles, which are great. The hotel is a little distant from the tourist areas, which is a plus and minus. Parking is free, but you have to drive the couple miles over to the west end of the island, but you can probably get away with parking for free or paying very little if you don't mind walking a bit. There are some supermarkets and restaurants within a short drive, but not really walkable. The only real issue for some people would be the airport next door. Plane noise can be a problem, and the airport is open until 10 pm. But if you plan on being out and about during most of the day, it probably won't bug you too much.

    3
    « Poor location »

The hotel was just average and a bit overpriced for the location. Had to rent a car to get to amin attractions. It was very close to the airport and planes continually flew overhead at all hrs. Hotel was clean and staff very friendly.

« Best Western at Key West »

Nice, clean, ample rooms, good service and cordial, fast check in/ check out, fair rates, car parking close to rooms, indoors swimming pool, acceptable breakfast and service. Wi Fi available. Located in front of the shore. Recommended to visit even again!

    « Exceptional Property »

Our stay at the Best Western Key Ambassador Resort Inn at Key West Florida was great. The rooms are exceptionally large, appointed, very clean and comfortable. We had a beautiful view of the ocean. Staff were all very professional and friendly. Highly recommend.

« Birthday weekend at the keys »

Amazing hotel with great service, affordable and the pool is the best! Relaxing and quiet away from the noise and a taxi was always ready. There was a bar at the pool and free parking for the car. I would definitely come back when I go to key west.

« A lovely hotel away from the town »

Stayed here for two nights. Hotel was clean and comfortable with great and friendly staff. The pool area was lovely with its own Tiki Hut bar and after the initial shock, it was quite nice to share the poolside (and on one occasion, the pool) with the local wild life. We used it as a base for a quick visit to Key West. The hotel is right next to the Ocean and you can take a walk on the wide pavement to get a good view of the sun set. I was a bit worried when I discovered that the hotel was close to the airport, but I can honestly say that there was no impact on our enjoyment of our stay. Would certainly stay again.

    4
« Basic, convenient, with large room »

Overall this is a basic and functional hotel, nothing boutique or luxury, but it's good for what it is. Our room was very large, plenty of room for stuff, easy to control the thermostat. Sufficient power outlets. We had a fridge and hot water / coffee machine. I don't remember if there was a microwave but I think so. One very nice touch: the wifi doesn't expire and cut off all your connections and ask you to log in anew each day, it just plain works. I wish more hotels did that! Breakfast included, but leaves a lot to be desired. Not as limited as some of those continental breakfasts you get at some hotels, but not that many options for real food. Still, there were bananas and yoghurt and a couple of sandwiches in addition to the usual buns and cereal and juice. Extremely convenient to the airport. Since we were in Key West for a seaplane trip to Dry Tortugas National Park, which departs from the airport, that was the main reason we picked it.

    3
    « A little disappointed. »

This is just an average hotel. The front desk staff was nice enough. The pool area is beautiful. Wish I wouldve known there was no elevator. Not fun carrying luggage to the second floor. The room was very clean and the grounds neat.

    « very good accomodations »

I was pleased with the staff, very friendly and helpful, room was clean and the view of the pool and gulf was amazing. jogging, biking along the water was perfect. hotel does not rent bikes. bring your own bike or rent from down town rentals

    5
« Clean and large rooms »

A very nice pool and very well run tiki hut for food and drinks whilst sunning yourself. Massive iguanas add to the interest in the hotel. Very friendly and sunny disposed staff who greet with s smile. The planes do take off from the airport next door but not that frequently and didn't harm the experience. A great place to base and party in duval street in the evening, and relax by the pool during the day drinking lots of naughty cocktails. Failing that the beach is across the road and a sandy one further up the coast.

    4
    « Nice Stay »

    « good enough »

we wanted to stay in B&B in keys but all sold out. Best Western was the only thing that wasn't full. It's not a bad place for it's cheap price if youre looking to save money. Just very bland, plain and good enough. Just a place to sleep and swim in pool. We explored all the islands and Key west, so we didn't care about luxury to save a few bucks.

« Noise and water leak »

this hotel sits right at the end of Key West Airport and the noise is terrible if you are looking for peace and quiet. Jets wind up and start you can wave to the passengers on the jet! « If we ever get to go back!!!! »

We enjoyed our stay here very much! It had beautiful landscaping and very clean! The room was extremely comfortable. We especially liked that special consideration was taken into things that are nice to have in a hotel room. Bottled water, paper plates and utensils, coffee and tea. Well thought out and very roomy!!

    « Perfect for a returning visitor! »

I won a trip to KW and this was the hotel they paid for me to stay in. I have been to KW before so I realized a few things about this hotel before going based on the location: I would have to take a cab or bus to get downtown ($2 for the bus, ask front desk for schedule, cabs run $15-20), I would hear planes from the airport - this didn't bother me much, and I would get ocean views! The room itself was nicely updated and clean. The shower drain was broken and handicap handle was placed awkwardly. Nice balcony though the screen needed repairing. Quiet as far as other guests went though the garden crew in the morning was loud. Surprised by how comfortable the bed was - just great! The safe was not working which was a little inconvenient. The Cheekie Hut had decent food and friendly staff but expensive drinks. The pool was clean and perfectly refreshing after a day in the heat. Breakfast is served until 10 which was great, variety of options. Close to Smathers beach but far from the rest of the the action. I would rather stay in a guest house for a more authentic experience but this was a fine place to stay for my time there :)

Great location in Key West, good value and staff. Would recommend for anyone I would stay again. The bed was comfortable, good desk for doing paperwork. Would be nice if pool was open longer but it was still a relaxing spot in my trip
