    « Business »

Stayed here on business, the rooms were comfortable, clean and well designed. We ate downstairs in the in-house restaurant, a Marco's Italian. Staff looked after us impeccably during the meal and it was a pleasant evening. The rooms were at a perfect temperature and the TV's provided a good amount of content to keep you amused. The brownies which were on the reception desk were amazing and I would have eaten the whole tray if I could have done!!

« Enjoyed stay, could do with an update »

We stayed here over night. When we arrived at the hotel the reception staff were extremely friendly! Once we got to the room it was very clean! The room could do with an update though, especially the bathroom! We had a meal in the restaurant 'Marcos' which we really enjoyed! Overall it was a nice stay and the price wasn't bad at all! Very clean but rooms could do with an update.

Stay here frequently on business. The gym is small and has a good range of equipment. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast has a good selection. The room upgrades you can get from collecting best western points are excellent.

« Great hotel and location for east midlands airport »

My wife and myself stayed here for 1 night only on Thursday 10th November We took advantage of the offer afforded to us by staying 1night plus 8 days car parking and 3 course dinner for 2 people in their Marcos restaurant which was delicious The food service and accommodation are excellent They have a gym for the more athletic person and pool and other amenities The hotel is 3 miles from east midlands airport so no stress when taking a vacation The car is secure in their car park and is looked after

    « I went to meet family. »

The location was really nice in a small country town, with lots of pubs and restaurants nearby. The hotel was really warm and comfortable with all the required amenities in the room. All staff, from front of house, to restaurant staff, to chambermaids were so pleasant and accommodating. There was a huge variety on offer at breakfast and the Marco Pierre restaurant served delicious food at a reasonable price. Loughborough itself was a bit grim but the hotel and surrounding countryside made it a worthwhile visit.

    « 2 day spa break »

Booked a 2 day spa deal the deal included the following. 2 evening meals at Marco Pierre White restaurant you get to choose anything from the whole menu so if you had steak and the dearest starter it comes to about £38 each. Full English breakfast both days normally £12 per day. Two 30 minute spa treatments worth £49 per person of your choice you have to choose these when making the booking. You get to use the health club facilities anytime during tour stay. I paid £169 per person which included a £20 upgrade for the superior room, I was more that happy with the deal and would recommend the Hotel which was 1st class. All the staff were very friendly and I could not fault the place. Not really much to do in kegworth very quite a few pubs and restaurants but was happy just to chill in the hotel.

« Stay, park and fly. »

Stayed here for 1 night with my husband and daughter prior to our 2 week holiday to Turkey. Our room was lovely and clean with plenty of toiletries and towels. Tea coffee hot chocolate biscuits were a welcome touch also as we didn't have time for breakfast before our transfer to airport. My daughter did struggle to get to sleep as her bed was next to the window and right outside was either an extractor or air con unit that cracked up every so often. We used the swmming pool and spa which was very nice,a great way to start our holiday. Towels were provided. We have already booked another park stay fly break at yew lodge prior to our holiday in December. You can't get a better recommendation than that.

« Nice hotel, shame about the food. »

I stayed with a group of friends for two nights over a weekend. My room was far from the madding crowd, furthest from reception, quiet while bijou, yet well appointed and I was very happy with it. I had two breakfasts and two evening meals, which were not as happy an experience. One would reasonably expect that a restaurant associated with a high profile chef would provide food which is a cut above the norm, at the very least, but unfortunately that didn't happen. Breakfasts were unexciting and uninspiring, the food more in line with a cheap chain, rather than that of a chef inspired centre of excellence. Far from enjoying culinary delights which brought joy and a tasty experience to the table, my evening meals were both very mediocre and most disappointing! Not an experience to be repeated.

    « Enjoyable stay »

Stayed here on business, the room I was very good looking as though it had recently been refurbished but the wardrobe was vibrating due to the kitchen extractors. I was given a second room, similar style but not as new however a quiet night sleep was preferable to the modern decor. Dinner was in Marco's restaurant and unfortunately having been out with customers at lunchtime I wasn't able to take full advantage of the extensive menu, the ribs on the next table looked excellent but I settled for a pizza which was very good and too large for me to finish. Breakfast was very good and although buffet style there was a chef on hand to freshly cook eggs. All the staff were well presented and very friendly and I have already booked another stay at the beginning of next month.

    « Spa, Food& Hotel »

We got here around 1pm, the receptionist checked if the room was ready and checked us in early (we didn't even have to ask). When entering the room it was super clean, spacious, we had tea facilities& more like from home to home. Had a spectacular night sleep on the very comfortable bed. We had spa treatment of back, neck& should massage. It was fab! No complaints, we booked it in advance and was seen right on time. After we used the leisure facilities which were outstanding very clean! Great for families and couples, was a great experience with my other half and I would highly recommend. The evening we ate food, had a 3 course meal which was amazing no faults, tasty, well presented, the staff were very polite & made us feel welcome & valued. The cocktails were fab! Thank you to the staff here for a fab birthday weekend!

    « Girly weekend »

We booked this as a murder mystery weekend package . There was 10 of us and we arrived Saturday lunchtime and was quickly checked in by the lovely reception staff . We had an executive room . It was lovely big double bed and a double sofa bed . Elmis toiletries robes and slippers ! Perfect . We had lunch in the restaurant . It is Marco Pierre white . We just had sandwiches very nice !!! The bar staff in the restaurant were great . All men very charming and professional. We then spent the afternoon in the spa again all good . We didn't have any treatments but used the other facilities . Now to the murder mystery !!!!!! Disaster ! It was truly awful ! Worst thing I have ever been too . The 3 course meal was just ok ! Bit bland but the show was awful ! It was just 4 people doing rocky Horror show and one got murdered . I've seen better shows in a primary school !!!! . The. Bar staff upstairs were rude one in particular the older lady was grumpy and rude didn't look like she wanted to be there at all .one of our party complained about her attitude and was given a free bottle of wine . Can't fault the hotel it's beautiful . Will definitely. Return . Just not on a murder mystery weekend .

« Great hotel let down by food »

First the positives: The hotel is easy to find and has a large car park. Check in was pleasant and my room was great. There were plenty of sockets, lots of space to work, good wifi speed, a lovely bathroom with jacuzzi bath and well appointed with a nice selection of teas and better than usual soaps etc The gym was very good with a good range of machines, both strength and cardio. There was also no canned music, a definite plus! The negatives: The hotel is difficult to navigate, it is wuite a warren and the third flior is missing from several lifts! Breakfast was ok although the lady there seemed disgruntled I didn't want to sit next to 2 other guests and wanted a table on my own. The main let down was the room service. The menu was very limited, no sides offered and even when I requested them (from choices on the restaurant menu) this was ignored. My steak was overpriced for what it was, I had to cut a lot of fat off and there was no option to have veg with it. I'd happily stay here again but I'd eat elsewhere.

    « Efficient and comfortable »

Booking system flawless , rooms well prepared and well equipped. Slightly labyrinthine layout , but overall better than expected. Bar and restaurant well above average. Slightly dated room decor and finish , rooms overly lit at night by ill fitting curtains and plethora of LEDs within room.

    « Fantastic spa break! »

Had the most amazing 2 night stay over the weekend! Our room was fantastic, really spacious, with a living and dining space & very clean! We went on the £150 per person deal which included 2 nights stay, with breakfast both mornings and a three course meal in Marco's restaurant both nights and 2 25 minute spa treatments or 1 50 minute spa treatment. Amazing value for money! The restaurant is fantastic, plenty of choice, steaks incur a surcharge of £8 but are well worth it. Drinks are quite expensive but they have lots of lovely cocktails on offer. The spa treatment, we both opted for a 50 minute full body massage & it was really professional & relaxing, we thoroughly enjoyed it! We also had time to use pool, sauna and steam room which were kept very clean. All staff were friendly & helpful too. We have had a fantastic little break & cant wait to visit again in the future! Highly recommend!

« Very comfortable and relaxing - with just a hint of glamour!!! »

Took advantage of the mid-week Spa Break this hotel offers and we were not disappointed. All the way through to the welcome at reception to leaving the next day. The staff could not do enough for us. Our waitress for dinner was lovely and gave us some great advice regarding menu choices. We had a room for 3 of us and we had plenty of room, the beds were ultra comfortable and lovely complimentary products in the bathroom. Breakfast the day was fantastic. My only criticism was that the whole hotel was just a little warm for us. Also, I wouldn't eat or have a coffee in the spa - rather basic but expensive - the hotel provides good coffee in china cups, delicious food in comfortable, smart and elegant surroundings. . Dx

« Great local escape .(Or ideal Airport Stopover). »

Returned to The Best Western Premier Yew Tree Lodge Hotel for another two night escape.Allocated room 435, ideal for access to the Swimming Pool. Due to health issues I find it very difficult to relax whilst away, but on this visit I actually had managed to achieve some reduction in my stress levels and whilst not managing to decrease my pain a lot,I seemed to coped better with it. Booking B&B with the 3 Course Dinner option, my companion and myself found this a bit of a challenge ,forgetting (To us) how generous the portions were. Regarding the service, this was yet again 100% +and the food was outstanding. We could not have been made more welcome by Gillies who seemed to be able to treat everyone as his personal guest, very professional and a great asset to both the Restaurant and the Hotel,he was equally supported by Chef and the staff in the kitchen, all the courses we had matched our personal tastes and would rate at least 12/10.Once again thanks to you all at Best Western Premmier Yew Tree Hotel and although I don't know when,I am already looking forward to a future visit.

    « Girly Spa Break »

Four of us enjoyed a wonderful, overnight spa break here to celebrate a special birthday and it didn't disappoint. We were welcomed by very friendly front-of-house staff and our rooms were ready for us to settle in early. Our rooms were very comfortable and a decent size with cosy beds, a good size tv, tea and coffee facilities, a safe, trouser press and iron and ironing board. The bathroom was a good size offering complimentary toiletries and we also had use of dressing gown and slippers, which you are able to wear in the spa area. We enjoyed the use of the pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and comfy loungers around the pool. There's the option of booking extra treatments if desired, such as facials and massages etc. There's a bar/cafe area where you can order drinks, smoothies and bar food. The outside area has plenty tables and chairs and there's the added bonus of having a Marco Pierre White restaurant next door (highly recommended). The hotel is situated in Kegworth which is half and hour away from the centre of Nottingham which was ideal for a bit of retail therapy. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed our girly break and would definitely go back.

    « Stunning »

You would not expect anything less that food to die for, being Marco Pierre White's. The ambience in the dinning room was stunning, being served by very mild manured staff. The hotel was very very busy, but flowed brilliantly, the staff all new what was needed to be done, and did it.

    « Great as Always »

For the 5th year in a row some 70 of us have just stayed here for our annual car club conference, and we have booked 2017 and 2018 too! The rooms, facilities and food are always excellent, and the staff are absolutely brilliant, nothing is too much trouble.

    « Does the job. »

I arrived at East Midlands Airport on a pitch black evening just after 7.30pm. I exited outside the main doors, really trying to spot the Best Western East Midlands Airport Hotel Yew Lodge? It turned out, I was going to have to look around the complex quite a lot? The reason being, it's no where near the airport grounds? It's a 10/15 minute taxi ride away at £10? This got me off to a bad start. The guys who were lovely in the Information Office directly outside suggested, I ring the Best Western Hotel, and ask for them to pick me up in their Airport Shuttle Bus! So I rang the Reception. I got the very sad and poor excuse that they had no driver? Charming... And said I should order a Taxi? Brilliant.....not.... When I arrived I was attended to quite quickly. I was on the third floor. The Hotel decor is a bit old fashioned and somewhat dated in my opinion, having stayed in dozens of Hotels around the UK & World. Though it all was very clean inside and outside the room. The Bathroom was immaculate too, just a bit tired. The bed was very comfortable, as was the pillows and duvet. TV was fine and it had no Bottled Water but Tea & Coffee making facilities. I was awakened in the middle of the night with loud conversation going on next door. It was 4.30am...., I don't blame the Hotel for this as it can happen in any Hotel. I rang up Reception who thanks to them knocked that on the head very quickly. So thanks to the Staff concerned for sorting that out. The greatest asset to the Hotel id the Restaurant Marco's. This meant I had a gorgeous dinner on the night and brilliant breakfast the next morning, in a very new and trendy place and in a comfortable part of the building.

Oh dear....... Arranged party for 60 people and the food was disgraceful Ok the total cost was cheap @ £124 per couple including breakfast BUT the evening dinner was very poor Ping meals....really !!!!! The room was fab, service was fab just the food has stopped us from ever visiting again

    « Airport stay »

Stayed here for one night before our flight out of East Midlands the morning after. Booked a family room for the four of us. Plenty of room for one night stay. We hadn't booked a table in the restaurant Before we arrived but got us a table with a bit of a wait. Reasonable priced drinks in the bar. The food was good and the live entertainment was an added bonus. Didn't have time for breakfast in the morning but I would definitely stay here again if I was in the area!

    « Amazing hen/spa weekend »

Fantastic stay, very welcoming of 14 crazy women on a hen / spa weekend. Minor room issue on arrival that was quickly resolved. All the staff were great but have to give an extra special mention to the restaurant manager "Muzzy" for going above and beyond, to make everything great. Had a day in the spa that was great thanks to George & Niall & all the rest of the staff. Saturday nights meal in the private dining room was great, fantastic food & great service! They also gave us the same room for Sunday morning breakfast. Excellent breakfast buffet all you can eat, with a huge choice of food. Overall can't fault anything

    « Little gem »

Stayed here for my birthday after seeing it on Spabreaks we booked direct. Had room, spa, three course meal and breakfast for £130. Arrived in room and had a birthday card from the staff which was lovely. Swimming pool and spa area really nice. Marcos food was lovely My only complaint was the price of the drinks £7:50 for a glass of wine! We will definitely be back Thanks for making my birthday special

« Pleasant stay good spa »

Easy access to motorway Clean and comfortable.Spa is above average although not sure what the foot bowls are all about. Would recommend as value for money. Restaurant in hotel very good although service for coffee in the lounge was a bit slow.

    « Surprisingly good »

As it was the only room available for miles I was a bit apprehensive but actually the room was very comfortable, the staff were very polite and attentive and the restaurant was excellent (grilled and butterflied shrimp and perfectly crisp pizza washed down with Pilsner Urquell, followed by a plate of well chosen Italian cheese accompanied by a small glass of Vin Santo).

    3
    « Pleasant environment »

Decent room size and facilities. Disappointing attitude from bar staff. As this was a special family event expected a bit more friendliness from staff. Bed squeaked every time you move and the door hinge dropped into the door meaning you couldn't get in or out of the room. Could do with a bit of an update. However breakfast staff helpful and good selection. Lots of parking available. Good location.

« Birthday Surprise Ruined Avoid at all Costs »

On the first evening 4 doors were left open in the bar, it was windy, so all we could smell was cigarettes. We decided to finish our drinks in our room. Only to be stopped and have our drinks taken from us, with no other explanation other than we couldn't take them upstairs. No refund wad offered. The following night the same waiter argued with us that we had to pay for our meal, it had been paid for in advance. The spa was a joke, their idea of a pedicure was nail file and nail polish, she didn't even glance at my consultation form. They were shocked when I told them I am a beautician with 20 years experience. I walked out in disgust. Ruined what should have been a lovely weekend

    « lovely restaurant »

we visited here as a couple in September. The restaurant was fantastic, lovely welcoming staff and great food. I had the Calamari to start which was very good (and a large portion which I couldn't quite finish) followed by the Salmon which was cooked perfectly. My husband had the mushrooms which again were delicious followed by steak which was lovely. we don't usually have dessert but opted for the ice cream with an expresso shot which was the perfect finish to a perfect meal. would definitely return.

« Great Value and service. »

stayed here for 3 nights. very nice hotel, friendly staff, no porter to help with the luggage, room was small but clean. the beds were not very comfortable and was warm. Short walk to town with ample parking.

    « Poor transfer »

Had a good stay at this hotel on the night before traveling on holiday, but on our return we wait over half an hour to be picked up from the airport. We was told by the hotel on our return that the mini bus would be with us in less than 5mins,on the second call we was told that they where wait for another couple to arrive. When the bus did arrive the driver told us he did not have our names on his list. When we did get back to the hotel we went to complain,we gave our names and our compliant and all we was offered was a drink?when iam drinking,i did think that we would have had some type of explanation from the hotel, but none.Very disappointed

    « Nice Friendly Hotel »

Booked a comedy night here with friends. We had a great time, hotel was really nice, staff very helpful and friendly. We had executive rooms which were lovely. Didn't have time to use the spa but will definitely go back to try it out as it looked really nice. Food was good in the restaurant and 2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour in the bar went down well. Couldn't fault anything.

« Wedding anniversary long weekend »

Spent Sunday, Monday and Tuesday at this hotel. Great service all round. Staff very friendly. Room a good size with shower and jacuzzi bath. Nice touch leaving a card in our room for our anniversary. Ate in the on site Marco Pierre White's Italian restaurant where food was tasty and a great atmosphere. Unfortunately the pool was closed but used the gym to burn off a few calories. Perfect for visiting Nottingham. For us the hotel, people, facilities and Marco's was a perfect match for our 29th anniversary.

    « Airport overnight stay »

We booked via Holiday extras as a 14 day park and stay package. Hotel is easy enough to find, plenty choice of parking spaces. We upgraded to a room with spa bath 336 but 4 of the 6 jets were blocked so did not have to pay the £20 upgrade charge. The bed was very comfortable. We ordered breakfast into our room which was great with everything we wanted on the tray. We did not eat in the restaurant but did have a few drinks at the bar. Staff were friendly and efficient. We travelled to the airport the following morning by the hotel mini bus which was quick. On our arrival home we called the hotel who informed us that there was no driver and to go to the taxi desk at the door of arrivals, this was great and we were in the taxi within minutes. Would stay at this hotel again if travelling from east midlands Airport

    « Hotels with personality »

Lovely clean hotel with a great restaurant. Check-in fine and given all the relevant information. Our room was very nice and quiet. Not a modern room but still everything you need and very well kept. Breakfast was excellent and service very good. Went to the spa for our treatment that was booked for 1 hour but unfortunately due to being 10 minutes late they was unable to accommodate us. I understand but we could have been allowed to have what was left of our 1 hour, spa reception didn't in anyway try and see if there was anything he could do for us. However we did enjoy the spa facility's.

    4
    « Very pleasant. »

Came for a friends wedding. Lovely venue, food was very tasty and staff friendly and helpful. Bar prices rather steep considering the draught lager was pretty poor quality and often in hot glasses. Don't mind paying more for drinks at weddings but I do expect them to be served correctly when paying over £10 for 2 drinks

    5
    « great wowcher deal »

We stayed here for 1 night as part of a wowcher deal. We paid £99 for 1 night stay which included breakfast and a 2 course meal in Marco's. You can also use the spa facilities next door which was included in the deal. The room was clean and modern but was very warm as there is no air conditioning. There is a fan in the room but were were still a bit warm. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the service was good too. Breakfast the next day was buffet style with good choice and all cooked well. Overall a great deal.

« Good and bad location! »

This hotel is convenient for the motorway, East Mids Parkway train terminal and the airport. Pretty decent facilities. Good value for money. But then when you want to sleep you realise it's a poor choice because you're right on the flight path and planes are still landing after 2 am!!! Did not sleep well!

    « Exceptional »

Exceptional - surprise birthday stay. I booked two nights in the hotel with a Groupon deal which also included an evening meal on the first night, and breakfast both mornings. When I called to book on the days I wanted only an executive room was available so it was £20 additional cost (£10/night) for the upgrade. Although I hoped the hotel would be nice, I did not expect it to be as great as it was and was surprised at the fantastic value I got with the deal I bought. The hotel itself is stunning, clean, modern and homely in lovely surroundings with a large car park and impressive looking entrance. All members of staff we dealt with were polite and welcoming as well as helpful ? there was not one minor hiccup with our stay and all the arrangements. There is plenty of space to sit and relax with a restaurant, bar, lounge area and outdoor seating areas too. There is nice music playing throughout the hotel. Our room was large with a spacious bathroom and good shower. We were provided with robes and slippers, hot drink making facilities and a few biscuits which was a nice touch. There was a large flatscreen TV and a wireless Bluetooth speaker which was great to be able to use We used the gym and spa on the afternoon we arrived. The gym wasn't huge but it was quiet when we were visiting so we could access all the machines and weights we wanted to. The spa was also nice afterwards with sauna, steam room, pool, Jacuzzi and rain showers. It was very quiet when we visited but I can imagine it being crowded in busier times as it is quite small. The changing room facilities were very good with showers, changing cubicles, lockers, swimsuit dryers and hairdryers/straighteners available. One of the highlights of our stay was dinner in the Marco Pierre White restaurant the first night. We had a two course meal included in our stay, and looking at the menu if we had paid for it separately it would have been £60+. Fantastic value. For starter my boyfriend had chicken which he said was the best chicken he has ever tasted. I had jumbo shrimps which were huge and delicious. For mains my boyfriend had a burger which was great and I had the ribs ? these were incredible and I would definitely recommend getting them. Very tasty and an enormous portion with chips and coleslaw. We didn't have dessert as we were too full from the meal. The restaurant itself was beautiful and had a lovely atmosphere. All the members of staff in the restaurant were lovely and friendly. The next day we had breakfast, again in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. The choice at the buffet was great, something for everyone. Typical cooked breakfast foods, cereals, fruit, yoghurts, pancakes, pastries, toast etc. as well as the option to request other items to be cooked from the menu. We spent the day out at Alton Towers (hotel is in a good location for this ? not too far to drive). In the day our hotel room was cleaned and was spotless when we arrived back. They'd made the bed and even taken the car to arrange my things neatly wrapped up in a towel for me which was a lovely touch. That evening we ate away from the hotel and just came back for drinks sitting on the nice patio area at the front of the hotel. On our last morning we again had breakfast in the restaurant and visited the spa before check out. This is the best hotel I have ever stayed in, and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to stay in the area for a particular reason, or just wants to go away for a spa break. I would definitely return for another stay. This was a present for my boyfriend's birthday and he loved it. Thank you so much!

« Great hotel, awful dinner. »

Great hotel, the staff are helpful and efficient, rooms pleasant, & the breakfast is as good as it gets, with an enormous variety of quality food, and show cooking from a real expert. Dinner at Marco's was a real disappointment. The restaurant is very stylish and comfortable, but the food last Sunday was poor. Our starters of calamari and shrimps were rather tasteless. But the major problem was the main course of sea bream, which arrived on a bed of what I can only describe as aubergine jam - sweet & sickly, it quite spoiled the taste of the delicate fish. I had a handful of rocket straight out of the packet for my meal, and not even a dressing to liven it up. Our waiter, Giles, didn't seem to notice that my plate was going back full, & when I explained why, was dismissive. On the rare occasions this has happened before, I have been offered an alternative dish. Not at Marco's. I left the restaurant hungry and disappointed. The menu price for our two courses, with a couple of side dishes, but without drinks, was £72. My complaint having fallen on deaf ears, I filled in the ubiquitous questionnaire for once. I also complained at checkout, and left my contact details. No one has bothered to follow this up.

Booked a room and parking prior to flying out from East Midlands. This hotel represents excellent value for money and I my wife and I enjoyed a great nights sleep, along with a very nice meal in Marco's restaurant situated in the hotel. Breakfast was good quality with a good selection. What really makes this hotel stand out from the many that I have stayed in before is the staff. Every member of staff were pleasant, professional and genuinely keen to ensure your stay is a pleasant experience. The excellent Jenna in reception went the extra mile helping overcome a last minute glitch (totally my fault) whilst I was away on holiday, arranging a transfer back to the hotel from Birmingham airport (yes, I booked the wrong return destination!!). This was done without hesitation and Jenna even obtained a good rate from a local taxi company. Thanks again Jenna. Don't hesitate to book into this hotel, everything is spot on, and with staff like Jenna, you are guaranteed a great stay. Congratulations to the management, you are running a top hotel.

« Super staff, fab facilities, delicious dining... »

I rarely leave reviews as I have nothing to add but I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. Every member of staff met us (14 couples celebrating a big birthday) worth a smile and all went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable, relaxed and welcoming. Food was excellent. We had an overnight Spa break - 3 course dinner, b&b and lunch included. A few hiccups along the way which were quickly and smoothly resolved. Rooms comfortable although the use of the fans were essential as the rooms can be tad warm to say the least. Highly recommend and would definitely return.

    « Great location »

Stayed for one night for a business meeting. Friendly and helpful staff, very comfortable room and excellent restaurant. Great location just off M1 near East Midlands airport. Also has a pool and spa but didn't get chance to sample it due to early start the next day.

    « A lovely stay »

This is a lovely hotel which is clean with a large bathroom, big TV and comfy bed. The room appeared to have been recently refurbished or perhaps it was new. The room was very hot and despite a fan in the room, we had to have the window open in order to get any sleep. The downside of this is the fact that the hotel is under the flight path for East Midlands Airport and at the time of our visit, flights were taking off over our hotel. loads of aircraft overnight which meant a very uncomfortable night with not much sleep. Our deal included dinner at Marco's which, as always in one of his outlets, was great. Wine was a bit pricey at £9.95 for a large glass of Sauvignon Blanc or £29.95 for the bottle. All staff were great and very attentive. Great breakfast, as well, made the stay very reasonable. As we checked out we were told that we had been in a premier room and had been charged an extra @10.00 which was promptly refunded when we questioned it. This hotel is pretty much perfect except for the aircraft noise but, if you can stand the heat and can resist opening the windows (double glazed) then you will love it.

« Wedding visit only no stay over »

Visited for a friends wedding, very clean and modern hotel with a great restaurant which I must try(Marco Pierre Whites) 1/2 mile from the m1 and very close to East Midlands airport,Loughborough is the near by market town with also Nottingham and Derby on the doorstep.. My only downfall.. Was the drinks, well known brands of lager seemed to be poured flat every time which was very disappointing with the price of a pint 3/10 . The food at the wedding was very nice lamb with veg 8/10.

« Average stay but food saved the day! »

Stayed here for 1 night for our wedding anniversary. Room was small and dated, unfortunately we were also directly above the kitchen/bar skip...... Lots of bottles being thrown in were regularly heard. There also happened to be 2 wedding parties onsite meaning breakfast was slow and music from the receptions was heard during the night. On a plus note Marcos restaurant was lovely, special mention to Gilles our French waiter- funny, attentive and good fun. The steak was perfect as was the variety of wine. Good end to an average stay!

    « Quiet Stay »

Enjoyed a quiet night at the hotel on our way to Italy. The staff were very pleasant and efficient and the room was clean with good facilities including TV and complimentary wifi access. Our room had a bath and shower. Went to the Marco Pierre White bar and restaurant set within the hotel which was over priced for the quality of food served. Again the staff were very pleasant and efficient. Would use the hotel again and would find somewhere else to eat!

« Very enjoyable few days »

We booked into the hotel not expecting too much, however these reservations were soon overcome. The staff on reception were terrific, especially Jenna, helpful and accommodating. We got an upgrade because it was available and were very happy with the result. The room was spacious and well equipped. I used the pool area which was well organised and never crowded. The Marco Pierre White restaurant was expensive for what it was and only ok. The beer and wine was also expensive. It is a very busy hotel being near to the airport and having good business facilities, however the staff were always helpful and available. There was a conference on the time we were there and the attendees were well lubricated in the evening. This did give rise to some late night noise in the corridors. I think the management need to pay some attention to this as it could put off some guests who are not similarly inclined.

« Yew Lodge Hotel Kegworth »

Hotel is ideally located for motorway and airport location is not ideal for other facilities Room was were very warm and due to location near airport noisy early in the morning due to plane flight path Evening meal is very good in new restaurant, but service for breakfast could be better with improved engagement and information from the staff

    « Spa Break »

Lovely hotel and very clean, with plenty of parking. Stayed here with a friend for a spa break. Although the rooms could have been bigger, we had twin beds and didn't feel like there wasn't enough room. Every member of staff were so helpful, chatty with excellent customer service. Marco's restaurant was excellent, food was beautiful each night. The area of Kegworth was abit quiet with not much to do, but I cannot say anything less than satisfactory about the hotel.

« Needs an overhaul and average MPW restaurant »

Stayed over two nights for an exhibition and although I have stayed here the last two years the fabric of the rooms is looking tired.Television is not HD and there is no ice in the Hotel unless you want to go all the way back to the bar. The room (311) was a decent size but I was in a room with two single beds. When it is obvious that there is only one person using the room I wish reception staff would ask whether you preferred a double or two singles. To be honest after a long drive I couldn't be bothered trailing all the way back to reception with my luggage to ask for a different room. The rooms are very warm in the Summer and with no A/C the most efficient way of cooling down is opening a window however because the hotel is on the East Midlands flight path you hear every plane landing into the early hours. Although the hotel blurb in my room said there was a fan to use I couldn't find it. In any event in 2016 a Best Western Hotel should have A/C. Bathroom fine but the shower over two tap arrangement is a nightmare to get the right temperature and when you do the temperature is constantly changing so I think a plumbing overhaul is necessary. I had the same problem last year. I joined a few colleagues for dinner at the Marco Pierre White Italian at the hotel. I had the Nachos to begin with and they were totally vin ordinaire. A reasonable size bowl with too many chips and not enough guacamole or sour cream. The chilli sauce in the bowl however was fine. I had the New York Burger for main course. The burger was very dense and tasted of nothing. The bacon tasted like cardboard and I left half of it. No one asked whether my food was ok when the table was cleared but it definitely felt like it was overdone I skipped dessert but ordered a Latte which never came. When that became obvious I asked the waiter if I could have my Latte and he looked at his watch and said 'yes we still have time to get you a Coffee??? The hot breakfast was a shocker. Why do some hotel hot Breakfasts consist of things that have been cooked hours earlier and kept warm. The only saving grace was that my fried egg was cooked fresh . I took one bite of my bacon, sausage and hash brown. That was enough. Bacon like rubber, sausage basically had a crust on it it was so overcooked. The hash brown didn't taste of anything. I ended up only eating the fried egg and a piece of toast. The staff were ok but not as friendly as described in other reviews I have read. For those of you who have read my other reviews you will see that it is rare for me to be as critical as this review but I cam away from the hotel this morning thinking I hadn't actually enjoyed any aspect of the hotel's service. I really think Best Wester you need to seriously up your game and I am afraid I cannot recommend this hotel until you attend to some of the things I have mentioned, Cost for two people in two room for 2 nights B&B was £416.00

    « Airport Stayover »

What a great hotel, great staff, great bar, great room. We've never travelled from East Midlands Airport before, decided to book rooms at the Yew Lodge and stopover for our early morning flight. Must say I would highly recommend the hotel, for this, the transfers were superb, made the start and finish to our holiday absolutely fantastic, with no stress

    « Friendly staff! »

I recently stayed here with my partner, lovely clean hotel and staff were very friendly and helpful. However house keeping knocked the doors and woke everyone up 2 hours prior to departure. There isn't much located around this hotel in terms of places to eat or things to do,but it has a cosy atmosphere inside and is located a short drive to the zoo!

    « FANTASTIC WEEKEND AWAY »

What can I say? Picked up an August bank holiday stay for two nights, with first night meal in Marco Pierre White's restaurant, two morning breakfasts and spa hotel on Groupon - when I rang the hotel they matched the offer. The hotel was beautiful, the staff were very friendly, efficient, helpful and knowledgeable. That includes every staff member, which makes a change. Not to have that blank expression when you ask a question of a staff member makes all the difference. The room was an Executive room and was lush. Bit small but enough for what we wanted and décor was to a high standard. Couple of problems we had were that the room was very hot but the room was provided with a fan, which we used constantly when we were in there, or else we wouldn't have coped with the heat. The bed was on wheels and moved every time we leant against the headboard but wasn't too bad. We had a massive flatscreen tv on the wall, lovely selection of teas and coffees, speaker to hook up to your phone for music, robes and slippers and lovely Elemis toiletries in the bathroom. The shower was lovely but not as high pressure as I would have liked. Cleanliness was second to none. We used the spa in the afternoon which was very crowded so we didn't stop long - bank holiday weekend for you. The free room Wifi was excellent. The restaurant in the evening was gorgeous, the staff very attentive, the food was lovely. The only thing was the price of the drinks was extortionate - £15 for a glass of wine and a beer - needless to say we didn't drink much. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept very well. Breakfast was buffet style and was lovely with a massive array of food, including pastries, hot English breakfast and a pancake machine, which everyone loved especially the children staying there. I really liked the fact that nothing was too much trouble, even bringing me a cappuccino to the room one evening and bringing fresh milk up whenever I needed it to make a cup of tea in the room. Would highly recommend this hotel. Fantastic service, beautiful surroundings, very near to Nottingham or Derby. We loved shopping in Nottingham and was a half hour drive to Chesterfield the next day for more shopping. Thank you to the staff for making our weekend away so enjoyable.

    « Birthday treat »

My daughter treated me to a night at this Spa hotel with a Wowcher when I rang to book a room I was told despite their own site showing plenty of availability there was no standard rooms available. I could upgrade to a better room for a surcharge of £10. I did this and asked for a quiet room that was easily accessable. There was a wedding on but the hotel did not appear to be too busy. The room I was allocated was fairly quiet I could hear the extractor fans and the air conditioners because I had to have the windows open to try to cool the room down a little. I soon became used to it and did not lose any sleep. There was a fan provided! The Wowcher also included a 2 course meal at Marcos I was told the only availability was either 17.00 or 21.15 although thier booking system showed other times available. The portions are very generouse! I recommend checking their own offers before booking through Wowcher or Groupon as they have better packages if you book direct. The room was spacous and clean. The only problem was the room was too warm! Drinks were on the exspensive side and the beer not the best. (Boddintons) The staff were very freindly and helpful. This hotel is not very disabled friendly in the resturaunt area as there are several narrow walk ways and some steps. I am sure that could be overcome by waiter service.

    « Enjoyable stay »

The staff very helpful, although we had booked a twin room, we found ourselves in a double which was changed quickly even though the hotel was very busy. Room good had all that we needed. The only criticism would be the shower... We ate in the restaurant several times service good, food good. In fact we thought the hotel and restaurant was of a higher standard than expected.

    « Very pleasant stay. »

This our second time at this hotel and I can honestly say I have really enjoyed it. There was quite a large wedding taking place this time, however we were still able to be served at the spa bar, MPW restaurant and no trouble with the delicious full choice breakfast.

    « Lovely weekend break »

Fabulous stay here... Highly recommend paying the upgrade and upgrading your room plenty of space and the bathroom a decent size too. On checking in we were informed that during our stay there were a couple of weddings on within the hotel and that the hotel was full of wedding guests, it was suggested that we use the option of room service for breakfast - as we had pre booked breakfast there was no extra cost for this. I can't tell you how much we appreciated this - having room service not only meant our break was less stressful but kept us chilled - it was brilliant - room service was spot on too and arrived at the times requested. Everyone who worked within the hotel, were polite, helpful, and very approachable... Whatever the problem they ensured it was sorted to a high standard - for example we had to ring down tom reception to report children playing knock a door run along our corridor at 11pm - this problem was resolved quickly. We will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future.

« Good but could be better »

Stayed on aFriday and Saturday night as We were attending a family wedding at a nearby venue. The help from the hotel staff to store our flowers and generally assist with other things was exceptional. Breakfast in both days was very good. No complaints about quality or availability of breakfast items. However, the rooms were very hot and opening windows does increase the noise disturbance from the overhead planes. Some noise in the corridor but no more than I have experienced in other hotels. Overall the hotel offers a reasonable accommodation at a reasonable price.

    « A noisy experience »

Hotel is in a good location, and I cannot fault the quality of the staff or the room we stayed in, however, this is clearly first and foremost a wedding venue at weekends. We stayed Friday and Saturday night, and suffered really bad noise levels from the disco and the wedding guests inside and outside the building until the early hours of the morning.

    « Lovely visit »

Stayed with friends at Yew Lodge Hotel a couple of weekends ago using a voucher. Experienced a highly enjoyable visit with hotel being first class and all hotel employees being smart, polite and very helpful. Only regret, didn't have time to enjoy the pool and spa. Look forward very much to returning for a longer stay and enjoying the wonderful food in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. Restaurant staff were very attentive and exhibited great sense of humour. Very enjoyable. Breakfast also excellent.

« Not the Place to Stay »

This was the first time we had actually stayed at the Yew Tree Lodge hotel. We have eaten previously at Marcos Italian here which is very good. The weekend we spent here was not good. A wedding on the Friday spilled out into the car park and the Patio area outside Reeds Spa and the noise was awful until midnight. Then doors slamming along the corridors until 4am. We had a superior room on the 4th floor and specifically requested a quiet room when we booked. Never complained before but did mention this to reception and although they did apologise it was hollow as we had no sleep and had an exhausting start to our own days plans. Before booking check re wedding etc as we also then encountered the packed dining room with guests and a full squad cricket team at breakfast on the sat and sunday mornings. Again the staff were attentive doing their level best for everyone but waiting in a queue for 20 mins for hot food and then to queue for toast was not good. Maybe table service on a busy day....They do have a very large car park but again no spaces leading people to park on the surrounding roads. Windows have to be opened as there is no air conditioning which you would expect. Small fan provide but with temperatures of 72 degrees damn useless.Would we stay here again. No..

    « Brilliant stay »

Stayed for 1 night as going to local function. Reception staff were really polite and helpful. All staff couldn't do enough to to help. Room was extremely comfortable and clean. I took a fan as it was really hot but there was already one in the room. The room had everything you could need. Really close to M1 junction and easy to find.

    « Spa Break »

My friend & I go to a spa break once a year we like to stay within 40 miles of where we live so we thought we would give give it a go. When we go on a break we like to swim & relax on beds, read, chat etc however there was only 3 beds & a sofa, these where all taken . These are in a room off the pool that was dark & hot. Due to this we did not use the spa at all as it was very busy with limited space in the pool. We decided to chill in our room as the weather was not nice enough to sit outside. Included in our spa break was a 25 mins treatment, we decided on a massage. This was booked for 3pm, we both got called at 305pm we where taken to the room & prepared for the massage which stated at 310pm, after the massage I relaxed for approx 3mins then got dressed . I was out of the spa area for 329pm. So the treatment was approx 15 mins . So just be aware of timings . The hotel reception & restaurant is vey nice however the bedrooms are dated especially the bathroom, which was very small with a very slow shower. The bed was very comfortable, the walls are thin & we could hear next to talking, also we where kept awake with constant door banging from other rooms. This hotel is close to the airport so I imagine people come & go at various times through the night. The food was excellent we had dinner & breakfast & could not fault this at all. Would I stay again for a spa break then the answer would be no due to the facilities being small.

« Much better than expected »

This hotel and restaurant has undergone a bit of a transformation over the last few years. A few days ago, we had a chance to visit the hotel again, see some of the revamped bedrooms, which are really lovely, the Laurent-Perrier suite (excellent for business meetings and more) the health club, spa & treatment rooms and we also had lunch at the hotel's restaurant, Marcos New York Italian. Lunch was excellent. There is a good chef working hard here to ensure that the food is very tasty, fresh and well presented. The menu offers a good choice with a varied selection, but is not so huge that deciding becomes a chore. The service was attentive yet discreet. The restaurant offers intimate booth seating - very comfortable and surprisingly spacious, as well as more formal dining tables on the other side of the room. The management team here are proactive, knowledgeable and approachable. They know their stuff but don't sit on their laurels waiting for business to come to them. They do a lot to promote the hotel and it's facilities locally and welcome support and custom from the local villages. We learnt of a number of initiatives that the hotel offer during lunch; they seem to be full of good and new ideas to keep resident guests happy and actively encourage communication so that they can continue to better their product. This was a very useful and enjoyable visit and I would definitely recommend and return.

    « Spa break »

Arrived at the hotel today was greeted wonderfully and directed to our room. The room was not the upgrade we paid for so spoke to reception who changed it straight away. The room is nice, not the kind of superior I would expect, in fact the room before was just as nice (executive) and didn't cost the extra that the superior did (save on some pennys there). Saying that the only down side is no air -con :-( and our room is so hot! Have opened the window however there is quite a bit of noise outside plus as we are on the first floor it's quite accessible for anyone that would want to climb through the window during the night so won't be able to sleep with it open. Being heavily pregnant and this hot is not great :-( I defo won't get much sleep here for the 2 nights which I'm booked for. However the staff are lovely and so kind and chatty and the spa lady is great.

« Easy access location for a relaxing break »

We spent our 44th anniversary at the Yew Lodge Hotel at Kegworth and enjoyed our short stay at this Best Western hotel. The hotel is located a few minutes drive from junction 24 of the M1 making it easily accessible to most of us. The facilities include a Reeds Health Club and Spa, Marco's New York Italian by Marco Pierre White, a Conference Centre, free parking and Wi-Fi. The multi-national staff were very efficient and helpful, a Rumanian receptionist going out of her way to ensure we enjoyed our stay and answered all our queries no matter how great her workload, thank you!! I only found two small niggles prevented this from being a five star experience; the automatic door closers on the fourth floor caused the doors to slam shut noisily throughout our stay. As these can be adjusted to shut the door by gently (quietly) closing the last inch or so the hotel could/should make these adjustments to give their guests a quiet overnight experience rather than the constant slamming we experienced. The second niggle concerned the restaurants menu, I get irritated if I order a main course item only to find that it only comes with a garnish and I have to make side orders to get a meal. I feel something listed as a main course should be capable of being just that rather than one item of your main course. As a lot of restaurants use this practice to increase our spend per sitting this may just be me letting my prejudices get in the way of enjoying an evening out. All in all, definitely a venue to recommend. Given how close Kegworth is to East Midlands Airport, we'll probably be returning in the near future.

« Hotel good restaurant not »

Stayed overnight with my husband and son loved the pool area and had a pre dinner drinks in the sports bar which had a lovely atmosphere. We booked meal deal but didn't realise this doesn't include the child's meal. It is a Pierrepont Marco white restaurant but to be honest I wasn't impressed with the food and it doesn't include sides when I say sides I had salmon which came with nothing else ! Ordered a salad which was basically lettuce with a dip and cost 3.50!when we had finished the meal we went in the bar for a drink but there was no atmosphere at all and when people went outside for a cigarette it was freezing. We took our drink to the room to be greeted by a dog barking! !! I rung reception and this was sorted straight away. The breakfast was ok nothing special self service. If I stayed again I would go into the village to eat at the Indian but as I have a 7 year old and like to stay somewhere with facilities I can't see this happening. Shame as the rooms and pool etc are really good

    « Pleasant stay »

A stop off on our way home and a nice place to spend the night. Room was comfortable and clean with enough towels and toiletries for the three of us staying. The lounge bar area was filled with cost sofas and there was a very nice patio area to enjoy the sun. We ate in the restaurant which was quite expensive however we used the chef's menu which was limited in choice but better in price. We all chose pizza and the calzone was wonderful with a simply amazing side salad. Staff throughout were helpful and friendly. Only negative is that children are not allowed in the pool area after 6pm and we arrived too late to have a swim. This was very disappointing and had we known we would have made efforts to get their sooner. Other hotels we have used allow children in until 8pm. Didn't totally spoil the stay for us.

    « Mixed feelings »

Booked via a groupon offer for a night's dinner, B&B. On arrival the smallish car park was packed and we noticed a wedding party in the 'garden' area at the rear of the hotel having a photo shoot. There are lots of small seating areas surrounding the hotel looking out, unfortunately, onto the car park, however, as the sun was shining it was quite pleasant to sit out with a drink. Some of the white plastic table cloths in one area were slightly grubby. We were advised on booking, despite this not being the case on booking.com, that there were no standard rooms left and that we could only book a superior room for an extra £10. So we were given the key cards to room 116. This was on the first floor and on entering it seemed very dark with little natural light due to a small net covered window. The view was of a refuse area. There was a loud humming sound which I was slightly concerned about but hoped it would have ceased by bedtime. The room itself was fine with king sized comfy bed, large TV, tea and coffee facilities, robes and slippers etc. The bathroom was nicely decorated with a bath and good shower. The ceiling seemed very low though. We went down early to take advantage of the 2 for 1 cocktails until 7pm, there was a limited offer on these though, despite being earlier told it encompassed any cocktail. The restaurant was very busy and very nicely decorated with a good ambiance. We were warned there was a delay in the kitchen. Indeed there was! I had jumbo prawns which, while were nice, contained very little actual meat - some of them were just shells which was a shame. I then had the seabass which was delicious. My husband had steak for an extra £8, which again whilst being tasty, wasn't the best fillet steak he had ever tasted. Due to the delay we decided not to have a sweet. My night's sleep, or should I say lack of, was terrible due to the aforementioned loud humming noise. It seemed to get worse; reaching a crescendo, subsiding, then starting all over again. The room was also stifling hot. This was very disappointing, especially after paying a £10 surcharge. Breakfast next morning was taken in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. It was ok - eggs seemed to be a rarity though? We could only find the scrambled variety. There was a little pancake machine which was a novelty. Quite a variety of pastries, fruit and greek yoghurt were available but I couldn't find any water. We left breakfast quickly to take advantage of the spa. The pool whilst small, was nice and the steam room was large and clean, however, the sparkly lights in the ceiling weren't working. The sauna was also good. It was nice and quiet at 8:30 on the Saturday morning. Drinks at this hotel are expensive with a G&T and lager costing over £11. We also paid for 2 coffees which cost us just under £6. We experienced no noise from the overhead flight path. We were advised there would be 2 weddings taking place at the hotel that night and the dining room would be extremely busy for breakfasts that weekend. They have a traffic light system in place advising people to go down between 7 and 8 to avoid the rush! Overall our night away was good but there were quite a few issues we weren't happy with. I mentioned my sleepless night and the £10 surcharge was deducted. If needing an overnight stay for an early flight at East Midlands Airport this would be a good bet, but for a peaceful retreat I would not recommend.

    « Groupon voucher »

I recently booked the Yew tree hotel for a birthday present for my fiance with a Marco pierre whites meal included. I was quite surprised that the hotel is in the centre of a really quiet village with pretty much nothing around it. You have to travel to the nearest cities to enjoy restaurants and pubs etc. It was in a very quiet area yet loud with the airport so nearby! I'm not sure this was the best thing to put on groupon for a few nights away? It's more so used for airport stays and business stop overs. However can't complain about the hotel, it was spotless and staff were very friendly. Marco pierres meal was absolutely amazing and breakfast was lovely too!

Lovely gym, spa & pool but needs a bit of TLC - lots of lights out in the sauna, steam room etc. Just needs the basics maintaining but generally a nice gym & pool. The cafe area is welcoming & a lovely place to have a drink & eat after a workout.

« Great stay - starting to look tired in some areas »

WE have stayed at the Yew Lodge a number of times over the last few years and the service level is impeccable. The ground floor lobby/bar/restaurant area looks great now that it has been refurbished. We had a room on the 1st floor and once you are up the stair case the decor starts to look slightly in need of the same love that the ground floor has received. Reeds health club and spa is lovely, but again, starting to look tired - new tiling throughout would really invigorate the pool/wet areas.

    « Really Disapointed! »

When I go on holiday every year I always book a hotel to stay in the night before I travel. This was one of the worst ones I have stayed in . When I got the room I was really Disapointed. I couldn't get my suitcase past the bed because there was no room so had to physically lift it and the furniture was really badly marked it looked awful. Went down for a drink and asked if they where showing the football anywhere and staff behind the bar very rude. Would not stay here again.

« Great Hotel Before Early Morning Flight »

Great stay 5 mins away from East Midlands airport. Dined at Marco's and sat on the outside patio area, the pizzas were fantastic, thin, crispy and stonebaked. Just what we wanted before our early morning flight. Quiet rooms on fourth floor, although we had our window wide open and could hear the planes taking off.

    « Lovely »

Stayed here for one night on the dinner, bed and breakfast package, staff were very helpful and friendly, had an executive double room which was lovely (apart from being like an oven),used the pool and sauna which was very nice and ate in the restaurant dinner was lovely and so was the breakfast, overall a very lovely stay and a good base for donington race circuit as its only an eight minute drive.

« Good hotel, great staf, shame about the foodf »

The restaurant at this hotel has recently become a Marco Pierre White's New York Italian and as we've eaten at this "brand" before we were able to make a direct comparison. We were on a full board package so diner was included (Steaks are £8 extra). Though the food was adequate it was far below the standard of the Sheffield Marco's where we've eaten many times before, shame it tarnished a great break!

« Clean smart and excellent facilities »

We had a studio, it was a bit of a treck however nicely furnished and had all necessary items in the room. The food was to a high standard Marco Pierre White, the spar and pool was well worth a visit quite relaxing

    « Nice and quiet »

I have stayed here for business reasons. The staff was very friendly. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant. My hotel room looked tidy and clean. At night it was quiet outside and in the hotel, so I've slept well. Outside the hotel there was nice terrace which was really a pleasure because of the hot temperature that week in GB.

« 3* - 4* Hotel, rooms are dated, food is excellent! good location »

Stayed here last week for two nights. Location is excellent. I traveled down from the North in Newcastle for work and wasnt hard to find at all. Grounds seem good and when you walk in seems modern! Got to my room and it was rather dated. Just lacked a modern feel. Green baths. I was paying £102 for bed breakfast. All the food is served in a "marco" restaurant which is excellent. I got steak both nights and that is nice!! everything from the starters to the desserts is beautiful!! Would have paid for that food if i went out somewhere. The hotel has a gym and swimming pool which were free to use. Gym not the best. Just enough to keep you ticking over. Few treadmills and some weights! you need to be imaginative! Swimming pool isnt massive but again its a hotel. Car park looked full at first when i arrived but was some more spaces round the corner. think the airport is near so would be a good location for that too! overall it was okay i would say... Hotel also had wifi.

« Spent the day here in a meeting »

Really nice fresh clean hotel. Staff are very friendly and facilities for business use are good. Had a nice buffet style lunch here. There was plenty of variety. Internet access is good as the hotel tends to have alot of mobile phone blackspots.

Great rooms, great location and it was a quality hotel. Loved the spa and throughly enjoyed the whole trip. Lovely location and great to use as a base to explore further. Weather was great. Food was brilliant at Marco's. Room was tidy and fine. Had a spa bath so even better.

« Could have been good »

We booked a DBB deal via Great Little Breaks and on the surface it appeared good value. Arrived Friday evening and we were checked in efficiently. Room had just been refurbished by the looks of it and was very clean and pleasant. We ate in the MPW restaurant. my husband enjoyed his meal of ribs and buffalo wings but said it was no better quality than any other American Diner. I opted for Jumbo prawns which I found very bland and Tuna Steak for main. Tuna was delicious but ruined by big chunks of lemon on top which totally ruined the delicate flavour of the fish. Waitress was really friendly and accommodating. Things starting going wrong after that! Woke the following morning and had no hot water. These things happen. But when I reported it to reception the receptionist looked like she had swallowed a wasp. She told me she already knew that and the boiler was being rebooted - sorry for saying anything! That evening we were only able to book a table at 9.30 and down to them not freeing a table we only got seated around 10! By that time the singer had packed up and gone and the waiting staff looked like they were going to collapse. We had minor problems with drinks not turning up etc but I cant blame them for that given how hard they are worked. The next morning we went down for breakfast and the seating area outside the restaurant was packed. When we went through to be seated we were told there was a que and there were about 8/9 groups in front of us!!! When I asked how long we would have to wait they told us 'no idea'. The restaurant manager blamed the hotel for being busy - surely then you have a restaurant big enough to cope or dont over book? As we had somewhere to be I had no choice but to ask if we could get the breakfast refunded (this option was never offered) and the restaurant manager said go speak to reception. Same receptionist, same unwelcoming face. When I explained the situation she seemed genuinely cross that I had a problem with queuing for breakfast and that I needed to speak to the restaurant. Lucky at that point the restaurant manager came over and confirmed that I (and a number of other groups) should be refunded our breakfast charges. At no point was there any apology from the receptionist although the restaurant manager apologised separately. It is a real shame as we would have really enjoyed the break if it wasn't for these issues. Clearly the hotels demand is too much for the new restaurant and I feel if they don't tackle that they are going to continue to have disgruntled customers on their hands.

    « Afternoon Tea »

Went for afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon and it was very good. The restaurant was smart and the staff very professional and attentive. There was a wedding on but kept quite separate from the rest of the hotel. We got a proper cake stand with finger sandwiches, tuna, ham and egg, a plain and a fruit scone each, a profiterole, chocolate cake, fruit cake and lemon drizzle cake with unlimited tea. It was silver service and proper linen etc. We got a deal on the price so it was very good value. Can't complain about anything, really enjoyed it.

« A lovely hotel in an excellent location »

The hotel boasts a prime position with excellent road and airport links close by. It benefits from the recent addition of a Marco's restaurant which serves a good range of dishes for all tastes, delivered by knowledgeable staff with excellent customer service skills. From the minute you walk through the door you are greeted by welcoming staff with a friendly smile. Nothing is too much trouble and I would highly recommend a visit.

    « Business Trip »

Tend to stay here when I'm in this area on business. it's a little further out but it's a lovely location and service is excellent. Good breakfast selection, restaurant food is decent but the bruschetta, while tasty, needs to be bigger!

    3
    « Not impressed! »

Parts of the hotel appear to have been refurbished since my last stay and the restaurant is now a Marco PW, and there in lies my main issue! The hotel and rooms are ok, but 4 star I am not sure. The spa is good and the staff are very good. The restaurant is awful, I had a pasta dish, after all it is an Italian, overpriced, bland and tasteless. A fillet steak is almost £30 a bowl of olives £7 that is central London prices. The quality of the food I had was poor. The breakfast in the morning very average. All in all will not be staying again... Lucky to get 3 stars!

« Review for Reeds Health Club & Spa attached to the hotel. »

My friend and I booked a spa day at this establishment which included access to the spa and gym , along with two 25 minute treatments and lunch. Due to getting a wonderfully cheap deal and neither of us having heard of this place before, we went with tempered expectations. How wrong we were to do that! From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by staff who provided a friendly yet professional image for this small spa. We spent the morning lounging around the pool area and then went into the bar area for a light lunch which consisted of a selection of sandwiches, a scone with jam and cream , a small fruit salad and a choice of beverage. It was great, but would have perhaps been made even better by the addition of a few crisps. After lunch we were booked in for treatments which were fabulous and executed by three skilled beauticians. Dee, Steph and Jessica ensured that our spa day came to a relaxing , totally pampered conclusion. We must highly commend all the staff we came into contact with throughout the day, but feel these three girls are truly an asset to the spa and as such, if you have a staff reward system in place for staff members that go the extra mile in providing excellent customer care, should be considered for a reward. Both my friend and I will be returning to repeat our fabulous spa experience, hopefully in the not too distant future. Many thanks.

    « A romantic break »

lovely hotel, friendly staff, we arrived on the friday for 3 nights on dinner bed and breakfast package, we booked a suit as wanted to make the most of our break, we had room 234 for first 2 nights however this room was clean but very dated, not much room, the shower leaked all over the floor and its directly above the patio so lots of smooke comes up to room, however bed is lush! there was a party on until 1.30am on the saturday and guest were very noisy, we spoke to deputy manager Steve on the sunday morning who apologised and moved us to room 336, this room is stunning!!! very quiet very calming and with a spa bath too. breakfast was lovely and great selection, the dinner in Marco Pierre White restuarant was okay but not mind blowing, we found most items a little bland and lacked flavour apart from the ribs which were by far the best meal of the 3 nights. we had breakfast in our room and that was really nice too and made use of the swimming pool, sauna etc and all was very nice. the friday and saturday were very busy with hen nights and parties but the sunday was better as very quiet, everywhere was very clean and looked lovely and any issues we had were quickly sorted for us.

« Great hotel, let down by a rushed reception »

I genuinely thought my stay was lovely at this hotel. The room was clean, modern and conformable. Staff passing by were pleasant and engaging. Overall, I was very satisfied. There are a few pointers I'd like to highlight firstly with The general layout of the hotel which is a little complex and didn't help by a very simple and swift explanation to where my room was or how to get there. When I eventually did get to my room, I'd gone up the lift 3 floors, up a few steps and down another set of steps which rather defeats the object of a lift when you have a suitcase and have to lug it up and down stairs just to get to your room. I was checked in by trainee Jimmy, who was very polite and seemed to know what he was doing. Only problem was, for my first stay at the hotel I had absolutely no idea of where to go or what I could do. I was told to turn right at the steps; to which I clarified if that's where the lift was. At no point was I advised there was a spa, pool or gym on site and only found this out whilst chatting to people over dinner, which let the experience down as a whole as I definitely would have enjoyed using these facilities. Finally, the only thing that I felt was really disruptive is the bathroom fans. Whilst I understand fans are required to vent the room, they are so unbelievably loud that you can hear every rooms fan around you when the light is turned on at whatever time of the night or morning. At one point I felt like I was below the wash room with the loud whirring noise coming from next door and below me. Silenced fans are available and could definitely improve a more conformable stay. I am however looking forward to coming back and using the facilities in a few weeks and hoping for a less broken nights sleep.

    « Brilliant, relaxing break »

Booked into a superior room with dinner, breakfast and spa treatment through a third party website. The hotel was very easy to find and on arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff. The room was perfect for what we needed, had everything you would expect and need from the type of room and class of hotel. The restaurant is one of the hotels main assets - the food and service were top class. Our waiters for both nights couldn't have been more friendly or helpful and even remembered our room number when we returned the next day for breakfast! It is very well run and the staff in there are absolutely immaculate. The spa facilities are also great (although as I'm not a regular at spas maybe I'm not qualified to comment), the pool area is very clean, staff are friendly and helpful - what more could you ask for. Be aware of swimming lesson times if you're staying during the week, there is a notice near the changing rooms, although the kids were all well behaved when we were there. Also one other thing to note was there is a DJ in the restaurant on a Friday night from 8. My wife and I like that sort of thing and the music isn't overly loud like in a bar/club, but I know some others maybe not be so welcoming to slightly louder than normal music when they're eating their dinner. There are also some local pubs, shops (co-op) etc 5-10 minutes walk down the road if you find yourself heading out for a walk but not a great deal unless you head towards one of the main cities. Wifi is free and the signal was good. Rooms are cleaned to a good standard and at a good time (ours was in the morning about 11ish).

« Good location but reception service poor. »

I picked this hotel for its location and it is certainly handy for M1, Loughborough and East Midlands Airport - however if you are not flying the noise can be annoying. Although we were allocated the requested twin room the rather dour receptionist failed to inform us we were in a room with a disabled bathroom and adjoining door which allowed to hear the VERY plain language of our neighbours. As the hotel was full we stuck with the room but when pointing out to another uninterested receptionist on checking out that it would have been considerate to have warned us about the room, there was no understanding of my point. The car park is large but not big enough so be wary if you arrive late on a busy weekend. Breakfast was very average - nothing to match the Marco Pierre White surroundings from my wide experience of hotel breakfasts. Would I stay again? Just about, however I would insist on a better room.

    « Relaxing break away »

I booked a executive room for my boyfriends birthday with breakfast. Really friendly welcome when we arrived. We got there about half 12 not expecting to get in to the room till 2 as advised. However the receptionist said our room was ready and we could go up. The room was really nice. Tea/coffee, proper hair dryer, iron & ironing board should you want to use it. The room also had bath robes and slippers to use in the spa. We did use the spa, which was nice and quite when we went in. Food and drink we reasonably priced. We did book in to Marcos restaurant in the evening, although we couldn't get in until 9:30. Again the staff were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. They were also very knowledgeable regarding the different wines on offer. The food was excellent, we both had steak which you didn't need to use a knife to cut. Overall we had a fantastic stay and will be going back.

    « Relaxing Weekend away »

Our first impression everything seemed in order, our up grade to a superior double was to me a standard surely an superior would have a fridge & AC in my experience. That a side the restaurant service very good & food excellent although we did pay the extra for a fillet steak. Pool small but perfect for us, gym we had it all to ourselves for a while. The only down side being the party disco music still blaring out at 1am my parents would of hated it. Surely these places should have the correct sound proofing to keep the noise in away from the other guests.

« Nice hotel away from city »

Stayed here for couple of nights with my family. Was a very nice, cosy hotel, hot too difficult to find. Customer service was very good, staff were accommodating, and the rooms were clean! Only slight problem getting there may be transportation, as limited public busses. Getting there by car is easier

    « Local hideaway »

Desperately in need of a short break but not wanting to travel too far from home found a great deal with secret escapes. At only 20 min drive away from home found the Best Western Yew Tree Lodge for a Two night B&B with two course dinner each evening. On arrival at the hotel, although somewhat early, was allocated the room very promptly. The hotel was decorated in a light but very clean manner and the whole ambience of the public areas and bedroom was fantastic after unpacking we paid a visit to the pool which is one of the best we have used and again the staff in the "Leasure Club " were very polite and offered every assistance really making you feel welcomed. On going to the restaurant we were nothing thinking surely it cannot get any better. How wrong we were, when shown to our table we were greeted by a very, very pleasant young lady by the name of Helen. When informed that the choice on the "Two Course Dinner is a starter and mains, we stated that our preference has always been mains and dessert, very kindly arranged for this,a.fter taking our order Helen was very attentive without being obtrusive. The food was to die for my companion ordered one of the Pasta dishes and I ordered the "Baby Ribs" baby ribs not, they were massive lol.Again breakfast on our first morning was more than adequate with a large range of both hot and cold items, one point I liked but did not take advantage of is that your eggs are fried fresh as requested. Our second night dinner was as good as the 1st night the only difference being I orderd the Sea Bass again food to die for.We will deffinatly be returning to the Best Western Yew Tree Lodge as soon as we can as I honestly think this has been one of the best value short breaks I have ever had.

    « Couldn't fault it! »

We booked our visit through Secret Escapes. Upon our arrival, at check in our names were not found on the system because secret escapes had not informed the hotel that we had booked. The lady on reception (grace I think) explained this to us and told us this happens "more than it should". Fortunately there was another room available and you were able to accommodate us. Even though this little blip had not inconvenienced us in the slightest, we were given a free upgrade on our room, a few complimentary drink vouchers for our stay and some free wifi tickets by way of an apology. This wouldn't have been necessary, but it was extremely kind and the fact that we were given this made the trip a bit more special. We also had a meal in the marco's restaurant on site. This was fantastic! The food, speed it arrived, the ambience and especially the service were all superb! We had an excellent meal and a very enjoyable evening! All in all the stay was excellent! I would definitely come back if I were to stop in the area again, even without a deal. Would definitely recommend!

    « Pleasant »

The room and hotel's public areas are clean, well maintained and nicely decorated (however the halls are beginning to look dated). Air conditioning would be a welcome addition as room had a stuffy feel. Room was well equipped with everything needed. Upon check in I had to prompt the attendant to direct me to my room and he failed to point out the nature of my booking (realising upon checkout that dinner was included but having paid for food at the bar). Breakfast was very good quality and had an amazing selection of hot and cold foods. Although the location is not the most iddilic the grounds are prepared and maintained exceptionally well and the best has been made of limited space around the car park. There appears to be a lot of facilities on the site but unfortunately I came ill prepared and was unable to use. I am due to stay again in August and will use more of the facilities then.

Picked this hotel for our afternoon tea through red letter days. Was really looking forward to it but when we got there they didn't seem to have our booking even though we rang up to confirm it. « High standards at Yew lodge »

Excellent facilities at this premier Best Western. Food was fabulous, decor and bedding immaculate. Stayed in quite a small Studio room, but it was very pleasant and perfectly adequate for my needs. O;nly experienced the restraunt for breakfast, but have to say it looked gorgeous - Marcos italian is both glamourous and stylish. There is an attention to detail with the furnishings, waiter apperance and layout of the tables. Breakfast was a buffet but overseen by a very enthusiastic and helpful chef to cook fresh fried eggs. What more could you want!

    « Good for business »

Stayed for 3 nights on business, Room was sufficient with 2 single beds. Plenty of sockets for charging laptop, phone etc. TV had multiple channels which is more than you normally get. Free WIFI worked well enough. Room was relatively clean and bathroom was ok. Showerscreen did not prevent water from leaking onto the floor, this meant after showering there was a pool of water on the floor. Slight noise from the local airport but nothing that disturbed me. Breakfast was a good buffet with fresh cooked eggs to order. Choice was a little limited and was the same on each of the 3 mornings. Staff were pleasant. Evening restaurant menu was limited and a bit expensive for what you got, having said that the food was very good. Check in and check out were straightforward.

    « Quality Refurbishment »

I've stayed at Yew Lodge for short stay business trips for the past five years. Always good for service, comfort and well serviced rooms. The bar is good bar and the restaurant has always served good food at a reasonable price. There's a seperate sports bar with Sky (very handy for Football lovers), with spar and pool if the mood takes you. It gets better........ Yew Lodge has just had a new, fresh, quality make over and the restaurant is now sponsered by Marco Pierre White. It looks, feels and smells like an up market steakhouse. The food is better than before and although more expensive than the old menu is well worth the cost. I've stayed in various Hotels in the area when Yew Lodge has not had a vacancy but this is streets ahead of anything else for many miles around.

All in all, we all had a thoroughly enjoyable day and will hopefully return again..as soon as poss!!

    « Lovely place »

Myself & my partner chose this hotel as a stop off point in between driving from the north heading south to visit friends. We booked dinner bed & breakfast after seeing an offer on groupon for £99- However this wasn't valid for another month but the hotel did us the same deal for £120- which I found was great value for money. We visited nearby village Loughborough for lunch. And made use of hotels leisure club before our visit to the fabulous Marcos restaurant . Staff were very helpful, menu had fantastic choice. 3 course were inclusive of our deal., £8 surcharge for steak. After reading previous reviews on the ribs,, my partner chose them,, and boy he wasn't disappointed, they were huge and lived upto more than had expected ! Not only were they delicious he struggled to finish them! Highly recommend the calamari to start and I tried the tuna steak for main course which was absolutely delicious . Breakfast is buffet style and a definite 10/10. Honestly couldn't fault this hotel at all,, oh except the heating being on !! The weather outside was boiling,, our room was very warm but we had a fan. Other than that we throughly enjoyed our stay !!

« A great base for local attractions »

I have stayed at this hotel three times - my kids love the pool and spa area - especially the Polar-bear head ice dispenser! The staff are super friendly, the rooms are good (although I can only comment on the superior rooms so I am not sure what the base level rooms area like), and the breakfast/restaurant area has been greatly upgraded since our last visit. Breakfast was a lot better and the bar area was in need of the work so the improvements really show, but the restaurant is a little pricey for a family to eat in so we went out into Loughborough to eat. I would happily stay here again.

    « Nice stay »

I stayed here with friends for a spa break. The room was nicely decorated and had very comfy beds. We loved the fact they provided Elemis toiletries in the room. Breakfast was very busy and the queue for the hot food was long meaning you had to wait by people's tables, but this is due to a large quantity of people all coming down to breakfast around the same time. The pool area is lovely and the addition of a seating area was very welcomed. Sadly the sauna was out of order but we enjoyed using the other facilities. We booked for a event night and attended the Ultimate Boy band night. I have to say the entertainment had everyone signing and dancing but i know a lot of people found the food disappointing. I would recommend this hotel and would attend again.

« Tribute Band Spa Break including food, treatment & facilities »

Five of us travelled to Yew Lodge for a 40th Birthday and booked for the overnight spa break which included full use of facilites, a 3 course meal, entertainment (Tribute boy band) and breakfast followed by a 25 minute treatment. The hotel itself was wonderful - the rooms were well equipped and spacious - however it seemed the heating was on all throughout the hotel and the rooms were very muggy which was horrible as it was very warm outside anyway. The 3 course meal was absolutely gorgeous and the waiters/waitresses were all very pleasant, as were all hotel staff. The entertainment however, was a bit boring for us. The other groups seemed to enjoy it but it was a bit boring really so we ended up getting a taxi into Derby Centre and enjoying the nightlife (only 20 mins away from the centre & taxi was available immediately). The next day we had a buffet style breakfast which was fab but then we had the task of waiting until late afternoon for our treatments - it was a long winded and boring wait as there is only so much swimming and sitting around you want to do. Unless you don't mind waiting around i would fulling advise booking early so you get first treatments as there was 5 of us the treatments were spread between 3.30 - 5pm by which point we were just wanting to go home. Overall a great weekend away - would fully recommend (the bar is a bit pricey but that's to be expected i suppose!)

« Luxurious hotel, great location for East Midlands Airport »

My fiancé and I stayed here for a night before our flight from East Midlands airport. As it was my fiancé's birthday, we wanted a special hotel & we were most impressed with all aspects of our stay. I booked via the Best Western website & got a great deal for dinner, bed & breakfast, along with airport parking & transfers. We had an executive room, which was very well equipped indeed, with dressing gowns & slippers, Elemis toiletries, iron & ironing board, trouser press, safe, sound from the tv piped through to the bathroom & a tea tray which included hot chocolate, water & biscuits. We enjoyed use of the swimming pool, jacuzzi & steam room & sauna. We had a fantastic three course dinner in Marco's New York Italian restaurant & were really impressed with the food quality, portion size & great service. Breakfast was buffet style & included a wide range of hot & cold options. The chef makes the fried eggs for you while you wait, which is a nice touch. We left our car at the hotel during our holiday. We used the hotel shuttle bus to get to the airport, and the hotel arranged a taxi for our return. Our only slight niggle was that it took some time for the receptionist to locate our car keys on our return, but nevertheless, he did find them in the end. Overall, this is a fantastic hotel & we definitely will return.

    « Very loud »

We booked a last minute spa night away through spa breaks and could not fault the spa or the food. The meal we had in Marco's was absolutely amazing and the sarcastic waiter had us in stitches all night. However, in one of the function rooms they had an event which was extremely loud- especially as we were on the third floor. We were kept awake by the music which was so loud I could actually sing along with Five, Take That and co and could also hear the constant 'come on... Let's get on the dance floor' etc from the DJ. The hotel really shouldn't advertise relaxing spa weekends when they know there is going to be a function.

    « Nice night away »

We stayed here on a Secret escapes offer that included dinner and breakfast. The hotel itself is nice but right next to am airport so there was some noise from the planes which was unexpected. Our first room was quite nice but we had to be moved as the noise from the flags on the roof was so loud we couldn't sleep. The staff were excellent at resolving this however and moved us in an instant. They let us keep the keys to both rooms so we didn't have to move everything late at night and were very apologetic. Our 2nd room was lovely and had Elemis products in which was a treat! The restaurant was a Marco Peire white and was lovely. Really well decorated and the food was yummy. Again the staff were great and the service was excellent. We had a particularly amusing French waiter who was a delight. In addition to this, the spa facilities were nice and we enjoyed a swim and steam. The spa is well equipped and even has an ice bear so you can col down post sauna! The only two downsides for us were that a swimming instructor was giving lessons in the pool for over an hour to two small children. She had half the pool fenced off and was extremely loud which didn't make the experience very relaxing. We went in at 5.30 too and was surprised as children are not meant to be there after 6. The other disappointment was breakfast which was sadly a buffet. The food wasn't very hot and we had expected freshly cooked. Despite this there was a lot of choice and again I cannot fault the staff. Overall, we had a lovely stay and the staff at the hotel were a particular high point. Well done guys.

    « Good stay »

We stayed at this hotel prior to flying off on holiday the following day leaning our car here. We had a very comfortable stay. An excellent evening meal and good breakfast. The transfer to the airport both going and when we returned went very smoothly. We stayed a further night on our return. This was after 1 am and the staff on duty went out of their way to be helpful. This is probably the best airport hotel we have stayed in.

« Lovely, friendly hotel close to East Midlands airport »

We had a very friendly greeting at reception and the staff were efficient and helpful, asking our plans, flight times, what time would we like our transfer, did we require a wake up call, etc etc. They explained about the dining options and booked a table for us in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. Our family room was very spacious with three very comfortable single beds and generous size bathroom. There were plenty of towels and toiletries available. The coffee making facilities included biscuits (great for our early morning start). The dining experience was wonderful, the service superb and food out of this world. Who knew bolognese could taste so good. Our dietary restrictions were sensitively accommodated with no fuss. We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough.

    « Stop and go »

This hotel is very accessible from the motorway. We decided to use hotel's facilities of staying the night and leaving our car while jet setting off. The hotel room we stayed in was a double and was ample room. The bed had a firm mattress but pillows a little too soft for me (but that is my preference). There were two chairs and a table which was nice so you could relax around. Bathroom room consisted of a bath plus shower over it and there were plenty of complimentary toiletries. The room overall was airy, clean and well worth the money. We had breakfast included which was self service with an excellent choice of cooked, continental and vegetarian breakfasts. There was plenty to chose from and staff were happy, very pleasant and ready to help. The reception staff were very welcoming and very knowledgeable. We left our car in the car park and the hotel's mimic bus took us to the airport. The hotel is situated just outside the airport less than 10 minutes to get there. On our return (as it was midnight) the hotel arranged for a taxi to pick us up from the airport and paid for it. The whole experience was definately worth the money.

« Comfortable hotel minutes from the motorway.. »

It is a comfortable hotel, good for stop-overs when travelling on the motorway. The staff were polite (and very helpful!), breakfast generous and the room clean, beds comfortable. Honestly, nothing to complain about!

« ?lassic hospitality: stylish and friendly. »

They didn't surprise me: I couldn't expect in the Midlands something wrong. However I would like to find more English food in the Italian (?) Marco's restourant. Where is lamb, fish & chips? Also transfer bus from East Midlands airport costs 10 pounds for 5 minutes. Taxi price is the same. So I believe they should forget about bus transfer or make it free.

    « comfortable stay »

stayed here for one night stay on park & fly . reception staff extremely welcoming & friendly, as were the restaurant staff & the man who drove us to the airport. quick transfer but coming home had to wait 20 mins because it was bank holiday friday & rush hour, so not complaining about that. The restaurant food however was disappointing. We have eaten at a Marco place before so was expecting better. Probably not to our taste. Found it difficult to choose from the menu. Aware it is an American/italian menu. The pizza was good but the sharing platter very oily & stodgy. Felt really uncomfortable afterwards & therefore did not sleep well. Can also understand how people found it expensive. Overall would stay again but probably walk out to eat.

« Excellent venue especially if flying from East Midlands airport »

My husband and I have recently stayed at Yew Tree Lodge hotel and Spa. Our experience as always was one of delight. The staff are all extremely friendly and helpful and the Spa / Gym is well worth a visit. The swimming pool has the added benefit of having a separate Jacuzzi. This hotel is an excellent place to stay overnight either before flying off to the sun or upon returning. Residents have the option of leaving their car at the hotel car park and travelling to the airport via the hotel shuttle service.

« Adequate for short stays »

This hotel is used extensively for the stay and fly packages due to its proximity to the East Midlands airport. The large car park is usually packed and you are most likely going to enter this hotel from the far side entry from where it's quite a trek plus stairs to the reception. The place was expansively refurbished quite recently so it has more modern interior to what one might have expected. Standard bedrooms are of adequate size with smallish bathrooms. During our stay only one lift was operational. Weak WiFi to non-existent signal in most parts of the hotel. The Marco's restaurant was notable mainly for its high prices. It is trading on the famous chef's name to serve mediocre quality food. Waiting staff were very helpful and accommodating. Breakfast quite routine with the usual servings. Good three star rating for overall comfort.

« Brilliant spa day experience »

I have just arrived home after a fantastic day at the health spa. I booked this day just for a girl day with one of my daughters. We loved it. We were made to feel relaxed and comfortable from the moment we arrived. We got shown where everything was and asked what order we would like our food and treatments. We chose to not use the gym and headed for the sauna and steam room. The health club is kept very clean and everything is in good working order. The staff are lovely. I had a 30 min massage, it was the best massage I've had! I would highly recommend this hotel and spa After our spa we went to the main hotel and has a meal at Marcos Pierre restaurant there, again I can't fault anything. ???????????? six stars from me if I could.

    « Fabulous »

This is the secoond time we have stayed at this hotel and will definatley be returning. There is a Marco Piere White restaurant at this hotel and the food is absolutely amazing, the service from the hotel staff and restaurant staff is second to none, nothing is too much trouble for any of them, the hotel also has a health club which my 14 and 12 year old took advantage of. After having a meal in the restaurant you can relax in the bar area Cipi the barman makes a mean cocktail, alchoholic or non alchoholic for the kids, Nottingham is about half an hours drive from the hotel with some fantastic shops. Would definatley recommend staying at this hotel, the only complaint I have which is minor really is that we booked a family room which had two single beds and a sofa bed as we have a 14 year old boy and a 12 year girl we had to sleep on sofa bed, room was a bit small but as we only slept in it this wasn't a big issue. Interested in staying contact Nicola (reservations) reservations@yewlodgehitel, she is brilliant again nothing too much trouble

    « Fantastic Stay »

We stayed here for a Hen night and had a spa and meal package with overnight stay/breakfast. When we arrived we were greeted nicely and given all the information that we needed. The hotel was clean and attractive and I found a parking slot near to the front door. The decor was nice. I was on the fourth floor and the only negative was that the carpet on the landing of this floor could do with replacing. The bedroom was nice and clean. Bathroom was clean, showers could be updated but adequate. I was happy to find some nice toiletries, shower cap and some cotton buds, even a flannel which was great. One things I've never found in a hotel is a toothbrush or toothpaste, I think that would be good. Anyway, that night we ate in Marco Pierre restaurant- to be honest it was a mixed bag. NOBODY in the group liked the shrimp starter, would not recommend. The Salmon was nice and the sweet potato fries, the lemon sorbet was delicious, I could eat lots of that. We all had treatments the next day. All the staff in the hotel were amazing really, I especially liked Dana the lovely, lovely lady who gave me a wonderful massage. She was very warm, welcoming, approachable and puts you at ease. Her blond fello worker was also delightful. There was a good choice from breakfast too, and they do vegetarian sausages without having to request them. I will definitely come back here again. I would recommend the spa and the hotel itself, restaurant not so sure. I must stress that the staff in the restaurant were excellent too and the hotel employs a diverse crowd which is amazing.

« Lovely hotel, Value for mone! »

My husband and i stayed here for our wedding anniversary on 16th March 2016. We were greeted kindly by the reception and was given clear direction where our room was. The room was spacious, clean and tidy. Bedding and pillows were comfortable and some nice touches in the bathroom (body lotion's/body wash/shampoo and conditioner all from the Elemis range). The staff in Marco's resturant were really sweet and wrote 'Happy Anniversary' in chocolate on the wooden board that our cheesecake came on. Had a good/comfortable sleep. Would recommend a stay here.

    « Lovely hotel »

We were at a wedding and reception. Very smart hotel; welcoming staff. The executive bedroom we booked has been newly refurbished to a very high standard, well equipped and very clean. Breakfast was excellent - an amazing choice of fresh foods. One negative - the padded mattress cover was lumpy. The filling had settled into pockets after washing. Overall a very enjoyable stay.

« Pretty good but some very annoying problems »

Overall the hotel had quite a lot going for it - the room was a bit dated, but was clean, spacious, had good quality bed linen and fluffy towels. Unfortunately we had a few staff related problems: when we checked in we were told we would have to pre-order for our dinner which we had booked for the second night. On the second day, we pored over the menu, made our choices and went to reception to provide them. The receptionsit looked like he had no clue what we were talking about. He checked his computer, then said there had been a misunderstanding and this was meant to apply to a large party on the same package as us, but not to us. Just as well, as we discovered we had not been given the full menu and ended up ordering 4 of our 6 dishes from the other menu! The real killer was the room key. We ordered drinks and a sandwich in the spa bar after visiting the pool, but were told we couldn't charge them to our room as we hadn't left a credit card at reception. I had no cash as we had been in the pool, so went up to our room, but the key no longer worked. I went down to reception and was given new keys and told to get rid of the old ones. These worked so I retrieved my wallet and went back to the spa bar. When we went back up to our room, the keys no longer worked and another guest on our floor who had just checked in had the same problem so we both headed back to reception. We both headed back up with new keys and found these didn't work either! This time, the receptionist who encoded my 4th set of keys came up with me and this time they worked, but we had the room which was furthest from reception and needed to use the only, slow and tiny lift in the hotel for each round trip.

    « Not satisfied »

We have stayed at this hotel previously on a stay and fly package which is a very good way to start your holiday. Whilst I have no complaints with the hotel the restaurant Marco's leaves a lot to be desired and I believe it will be the downfall of this establishment. At short notice we extended our stay a further 2 nights on a D, B & B package. The hotel has only one restaurant so whether you choose to eat in Marco's, have a bar meal meal or room service it is all from the same menu which isn't cheap. The first night was not tasty at all but when it came to breakfast time mine was disgusting! I asked for a mushroom omelette, this was the worst example I have tasted or seen. It was over cooked and full of water when cut into. Whoever cooked it had just taken a field mushroom and not even bothered to chop it up but cut it into large potions and thrown into the pan. I complained to the waitress but she just laughed. No apology or anything was given. On our second night we had a garlick bread to share followed by lasagne and taglietelle. There was only a couple of people in the restaurant, it was very quiet so you would expect the garlic bread to be perfect. No, it was well over done and more flaky than any garlic bread should be. The sauce in the lasagne was not the same sauce as on my taglitelle said my husband although both should have been Bolognese sauce. Mine had a peculiar taste and was so salty I couldn't eat it. When the waitress came to take our plates away she asked why I hadn't eaten it, she apologised and offered us a coffee each on the house wow! I forgot to mention that at breakfast the 2nd morning my husband asked for eggs Benedict in place of a cooked breakfast and we ended up having to pay a supplement on top of what we had already paid. I couldn't believe it. If this hotel is depending upon the Marco Pierre White restaurant I wouldn't sit on my laurels. Apart from which there are many types of guests of all ages and a choice somewhere in the hotel ought to be available. Not everyone wants burgers and pasta. It was a total waste of a few hundred pounds and I bad start to our holiday.

« Relaxing overnight stay before flight »

Stayed here before flying out on holiday. The staff were friendly and the food was great (though a little pricey in my opinion). It was really nice to use the pool and spa and it made us feel that the holiday had already started. The room we had was clean with a comfortable bed and great showering facilities. We had booked this through BCC so had arrangedfor our car to be left there and transfers which was organised quickly and efficiently both to and from the airport. On arriving back at the hotel our car keys were ready with the receptionist and we we were able to make a quick exit, We will defiately be using this service again

    « Look around first »

Broken facilities in the room. Over 1hour and 15 minutes wait for food. Over priced drinks. I understand overheads, but this was ridiculous for a standard hotel. It is anybody's guess which of the many switches controlled which light. Looked like a disco before bed.

    « Overnight for airport »

There if us stayed overnight before we flew to Spain. The hotel had lovely friendly staff. The hotel was clean cost. There was a spa which can be used. We sampled the pool, sauna, jaccussi and steam room.

    « Reall good »

The room was very clean and the bed was comfy and lots of toiletries in the bathroom. not a lot to say really except the meal at Marco Pierre White restaurant wasn't very good. crab cakes were tasteless but sea bass was good but a glass of wine cost £7 50 and was just white wine.

« Spa and Relaxation Break »

We went to the Yew Lodge on a Spa Break which included use of the pool and spa facilities, a three course meal in Marco Pierre's Italian Restaurant, an overnight stay and breakfast the next morning. The whole experience was good, staff efficient and friendly, food was delicious with attentive staff. Our only complaint was one day/night wasn't long enough.... Will definitely go there again!

    « Superb Hotel »

We stayed here as part of a Murder Mystery Weekend package. The Hotel staff are all so friendly and helpful from start to finish. The room was spotless with lovely fresh soft towels. Being able to use the Spa facilities was an added bonus and perfect for relaxing after a day sightseeing. Our evening meal in Marco's restaurant was outstanding! The food was amazing and the staff, from the Restaurant Manager down to the waiters need to be congratulated on their impeccable service! Breakfast was top notch too, with choices that cover everyone's needs. Would not hesitate to stay here again.

    « just the ticket »

We stayed here over night, left the car and were transported to East Midlands Airport. Many people use this service particularly if they need to catch an early flight. The whole experience was enjoyable especially since you could walk into the town and use the local facilities. Room very comfortable and staff friendly and helpful. We would certainly use this hotel again.

« BMW Motorcycle Club - National AGM »

My first time organising a national event for the Club went very smoothly. The staff are very polite, welcoming and efficient and this is why I would recommend this hotel for a conference event. They have everything that is needed, plus the additional benefits of free Wifi, comfortable bedrooms and a spa too. A couple of minor changes were needed on the day of the event, but the hotel staff dealt with them admirably - nothing was too much trouble. A refreshing change from some hotels that I've visited over the past few years. Highly recommended.

« Conference and Weekend stay »

We held the National BMW Club AGM here. The hotel catered for lunches and an evening Gala Dinner. The lunch was superb and provided us with hot and cold food buffet. Food was constantly being topped up, the staff were all polite and efficient. The food delivered was possibly the best we've experienced at venues all over the Country during my term in office sine 1985.

    « Wow! »

Firstly I would like to thank all the amazing staff we encountered in our stay. The staff were so friendly and helpful and extremely professional. When we booked our room which we did over the phone directly the that hotel, we were amazed at what they were offering to us. Many of our family have stayed there and because it was my birthday my dad booked us to go away. They upgraded us the a superior room for no extra cost and a full 3 course meal and their Marco's restaurant! On arrival we went into our room and we're blown away by standard of accommodation with a king size bed and enormous bathroom! The spa was gorgeous and so unbelievably clean everywhere in the changing room and the rest of it. Only thing I can fault is the seating in the spa it was limited but not badly affected by it Marco's food was out of this world!! I'd read other reviews saying they were tiny portions and took ages to come. NON OF THAT IS TRUE!!! They were amazing portions and we barely had any wait at all between courses! Breakfast was amazing yet again with loads of options Amazing stay, hotel, staff, atmosphere, food basically everything can not fault Thankyou so much we will be returning very soon! Chelsey-Louise

    « A tale of two halves... »

Stayed here for a wedding. The room was ok but it appeared we were in the part of the hotel that has yet to be upgraded. The bathroom extractor fan was incredibly noisy, and the walls are very thin as we could hear next door. Overall the room was clean, just a little tired. Our first evening we had pre-booked a group in Marco's restaurant. They had our menu choices in advance so all should have been easy. The food was mediocre at best and certainly not worth the high price. My tuna was badly cooked and the thicker end of the steak was almost raw. My wife had the Spaghetti al Pomodoro - a tin of alphabetti spaghetti would have had more texture and flavour. Others in the group also had issues with their food, not least the stingy portions for the high price. Oh - and go easy on the salt, everyone complained at how salty their meals were. As for the wedding itself which was held in the hotel, we couldn't fault the staff or the venue. The food this time was great, all served piping hot, with plenty to eat, and was very tasty. The waiting staff were very polite and attentive. Your events team were great. The bar is reasonably priced (for a hotel bar) but there is a limited choice of beers/lagers, A 10 minute walk up the road takes you to the Coach House pub which has a great range of beers, and more or less half price compared to the hotel. Overall then - the hotel is ok, nothing special, although the staff are great. Avoid the restaurant at all costs - too expensive for poor food. Conversely the breakfast buffet is great. The events team were great, and the food laid on for the event was very good. Why couldn't the restaurant match the food that was served for the event?

    « A break with the girls »

myself and 2 other ladies went here for a 2 night spa break. I have to say the hotel impressed me, pleasantly greeted by the receptionist. Decent room for the 3 of us, I got the short straw and slept on the sofa bed, not too comfy but it did the job. We went to the spa on our full day Thursday, and enjoyed it, we swam had sauna, steam room jaccuzi as you do. We went into the beauticians as we had free treatment in our package,I had a manicure, it was ok...perhaps I am too used to my own manicurist. Anyway that evening we had dinner booked in the hotel, also included in our package. Wow total disappointment, firstly by the waiter who asked us our room number and said we were not on the list, he was a bit up himself for my liking, and no matter how we tried I could not get his name from his badge, I noticed him also not being too polite to other guests. Then I ordered the garlic prawns for starters, yuk, they looked disgusting but no one was prepared to do anything about it, so I ate the ones which were edible. My main course was better, and my sweet out of this world. Actually we had booked through Spa Breaks and as I said the dinner that evening was included in the package and I was totally shocked to find that it was from the main menu and not from a 'specials' menu, so well done Spa Breaks. I must compliment Jack a young waiter, if it had not been for his pleasant outlook Thursday evening dinner would have been a total disaster, he was lovely. Also I have to compliment the breakfasts, lovely. Nice clean hotel.

My partner and i vistited recently as part of a deal wich included an overnight stay with use of the health club facilities as well as an evening meal at marcos. We payed 10 pound for a room upgrade and we were pleasantly suprised, really nice room. We used the gym and the pool area, all very nice with no complaints. Breakfast was a very nice bufet style with plenty of choice, more than happy. A nice place with pleasant staff, would definetley return.

    « 3 Night Visit »

I stayed at the Yew Lodge Hotel for a few nights whilst in the area for a course. Whilst the staff were nice there were a few issues that i found very irritating. The keys for the rooms which were electronic card readers were awful. It took me three different keys and a few trips backwards and forwards between reception to find one that would actually work, and even then I found myself calling for the handy-man to let me in. Once in the room I then discovered there was no hot water of any sort in my bathroom. Once again I had to ask someone to come and try and fix it. After a few tries he just shrugged and said... 'dunno why that's like that'. I was assured that in the morning it would be all fixed, ready for a morning shower, but needless to say this wasn't the case. After a very quick cold shower I had to go downstairs and request to move rooms. This was done with very little fuss and the staff were very nice in transferring my luggage to a different room in time for my return at the end of the afternoon. Unfortunately this was to another room with absolute no hot water from the shower head! With the exception of these issues, and the fact that my entire group had to wait for over an hour for a waiter to come and take the order for our Starters in the '2 Rosette' Marco Pierre White restaurant, it was an acceptable stay.

We stayed for 1 night in a superior room on a loyalty scheme reduced rate. Extremely good value, nice Elemis toiletries and plush towels. Room was well equipped and reasonably spacious. Hotel was quiet. Bathroom fan was noisy and bed not very comfy. Marcos Restaurant gave us good food (tuna and sea bass, but there were also pizza, pasta, steak etc). Vey helpful Parisian waiter helped on wine and hotel obliged with an early full English breakfast in our room. Would stay here again.

« One of the best spas I have ever visited! »

I have visited many spas in Europe and across the UK. This has to be one of the best Spa's i have visited with the ice features, ice shower, red hot jacuzzi and steam rooms. The faculties are always really clean and the swimming pool clean too. The staff really care and they are always really lovely. I often use payasugym to access the gym as I get a discount being in a management position and the staff are always knowledageable and know the corporate codes so access is easy for me. Will continue to come as this truly is one of the best spas!

Thank you, we will be back again. Also got married here 15yrs & had the same level of service!

    « Large rambling hotel near M1 »

I have stayed here a few times in recent years and found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The executive rooms are worth paying a little extra for as some of the standard rooms are looking tired now. The spa has excellent facilities although the pool is far too small. It is barely big enough for 2 or 3 people to swim 10m laps. The restaurant is now been branded as a Marco Pierre White place, and whilst the food is perfectly acceptable for a hotel restaurant it is way over-priced. I'd recommend walking into the village to eat a curry at Je Ja Jee's!

When using East Midlands airport for an early morning flight; my wife and I and Friends will always use the Yew Lodge Hotel. It always has a welcoming staff and the rooms are always immaculate. The restaurant has an excellent a la carte which is well presented. The convenience of being able to park your car and have their minibus take and fetch you from the airport is a great saving of worry.

« Not as relaxing as I'd hoped. »

My Spa Day was a TravelZoo gift from my husband & I arrived at 10a.m as arranged. I wasn't asked if I had been there before & wasn't shown around to familiarise myself with the various facilities so I had to keep asking. I had pre booked a pedicure and had this straight away and my toenails looked lovely with their new colour on but the treatment room was very cold so I had to ask for the air con to be turned off. I had a lovely latte coffee in the noisy (loud music) bar area & then after trying to listen to my audio book through headphones had to ask if there was a quiet area where I could sit & chill. I was directed to a seating area beyond the swimming pool & found a comfortable lounger chair to relax on. However, this area also was very noisy but I stayed put until lunch time listening to my book. I am surprised that this Spa does not have a "chill" zone where one at relax in peace and quiet. We are not all gym bunnies & swim fanatics. I was served a pleasant lunch with a drink as part of my experience and enjoyed it in the bar area. Afterwards I had a wonderful neck and back massage followed by an Elemis facial. Blissful treatment. I will not be returning to Reeds however as I got the feeling that they are more interested in paying customers.

    « Chill out weekend »

From the time we arrived to saying Good-bye we thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. Lovely greeting, lovely room, ate in the restaurant on 1st evening, our steaks just melted in your mouth. The presentation was on top form & so were all the staff. Breakfast was very good, nice to have your eggs cooked just the way you liked them. Spent most of the day in the leisure, what a chill out!! We had a lovely afternoon tea, then we enjoyed the evening in the bar listening & singing along to the great entertainment. We found all the staff attentive, efficient & friendly. Well done to all!

« Lovely day at Reeds Spa »

We have had a lovely day today at the Reeds Spa within the hotel. The treatments were amazing, the hotel atmosphere is relaxing and the therapists and staff are so friendly and welcoming. Grace and Steph were our therapists and were both fantastic. They looked after us all day and nothing was too much trouble. We have had the most lovely relaxing day and felt thoroughly pampered - we really didn't want to leave. Thank you so much for a wonderful day.

    « Hidden gem »

I stayed for 2 nights with my partner for his birthday. I told them this and when we arrived they had left a card in the room which was a lovely touch. The room was clean and fresh. The hotel was lovely and all staff helpful and friendly. My partner became ill in the second night and the bar staff were so very very helpful and I can not thank one particular man enough. I fun all the panic I didn't get his name. I do remember he has type 1 diabetes the same as my partner. If he reads this he will know who he is. Thank you. I would recommend this hotel. Very pleasant stay.

« Staff make this place special! »

Literally one of the best weekend get a ways I have had in a very long time. The food was great and the team fantastic, always happy to help even if they were busy, attentive and friendly. Muzzy, Lee, George and Maurizio are some of the best in the field.

« Fab stay yet again at this hotel. »

This is our third trip to this hotel as a group of friends and it has delievered yet again. We got the overnight stay deal which included dinner and use of the spa. The lunch we had was nice - simple, just sandwiches, scones and fruit but really reasonably priced. Think it was £8 a head. The spa was very busy so if you want treatments book in advance. We all had massages (£25 for 25mins or £45 for 50mins) and were all delighted apart from one in the party who was a little disappointed with hers as the girl forgot to put the music on and was chatty. But saying that we mentioned it to the Spa Manager and she was discounted. The restaurant has changed to a Marcos Italian but the staff all seemed the same as the last time we came. And as for the breakfast - well the choice is great! There is something for every taste! Will be visiting here again later in the year when the deal comes on again! Loved it!

« Dont stop if you are alight sleeper »

I stopped at this hotel to attend a training course and was met by an empty reception so had to wonder off to find where I was to be. I checked in and decided I would use the leisure facilities which were very good. I went to the bar and had a drink which was fine and looked at the menu for the resteraunt I decided to has a starter portion of spagetti and add some sides to bulk it up which worked out fine. The wine I had was very acceptable. After the meal I decided to retire early but I was kept awake by Planes flying over this was never mentioned when I booked that it was on a flight path and I would have planes flying over me. Dont think I would stop or recomend this hotel

    « Birthday Party »

I really enjoyed my stay , accomodation was amazing really loved the cosy rooms. The Spa was fantastic and leisure facilities with lovely, friendly staff however the food was not very apetising and too greasy especially lasagna and buffalo wings. Ingredients used in my ceasar salad did not match the menu so was a bit dissapointed. Overall it has been a pleasure spending my weekend at your hotel.

    « Lovely Week-end »

My Husband and I have just returned from a lovely week-end where we stayed at the Yew Lodge Hotel. The staff were very welcoming and even managed to upgrade us (thank you!) and the hotel and room was spotlessly clean. We spent some time in the spa and although it was rather noisy and full of other people, it was a relaxing time. We had dinner in Marco's and again the staff were fantastic and although they were very busy they always took time to make sure that everyone was having a great time. The food was wonderful and as our hotel rate included dinner all we had to pay for was a bottle of wine. We did have difficulties using the TV and ended up calling down to reception for help twice and both times someone came up straight away and helped us out. Breakfast was again taken in Marco's and was lovely again and just like dinner there was so many members of staff - which is a real treat as often there are not enough staff to cater for all the guests. Overall I would highly recommend a stay in this hotel.

« Wowcher Offer Overnight Stay and More... »

We came across this lovely place through a Wowcher deal. On arrival, we were early but we were allowed to check in early, the reception staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was spacious, clean and tidy, with lots of little extras for us to indulge in. With our Wowcher deal it included an evening meal, which we did presume would be a set meal but to our surprise it wasn't, the meal in Marco's was delicious. After our meal we stayed in the bar, where there was live music, which definitely created a lovely atmosphere. I must add the staff in the restaurant and bar were lovely, very attentive and efficient. At breakfast, we were happy to serve ourselves to the hot and cold food on offer, however our only negative point was that items had run out and we had to wait some time for it to be replenished, making the rest of our breakfast cold. Overall a lovely stay and we would definitely return in the future.

    « Restaurant was a joke »

The hotel and spa is excellent , however to evening meal was expensive. 2 friends order steak which was tiny another person ordered Tuna Fillet and that was it no veg or anything else. The restaurant manager (who's been there a long time) was very rude. Paul Williams at the bar was very helpful, he went above and beyond, very nice and polite member of staff.

« Nice hotel - MPW experience - so so »

Stayed here for a night to celebrate a birthday with a meal at the Marco Pierre White restaurant. The hotel itself is of good quality and our upgraded room was very comfortable and spacious. The staff we encountered were all very professional and friendly. Wifi excellent. This is a really good Best Western establishment. The breakfast was buffet style and there was plenty of variety and the ingredients of good quality. At a guess the majority of the clientele were holidaymakers making use of the hotel prior to flying from the East Midland Airport. If I were to use EMA then this hotel would be my first port of call before flying too. I have to say I was disappointed with the Marco Pierre White experience. The meal was OK, just not particularly memorable. Oh, and it was very, very busy.

    « Lovely birthday getaway »

I booked this as part of a wowcher deal and couldn't believe how high the standard was for the price. The hotel itself is modern and well presented with lovely decor and very accommodating and friendly staff. We upgraded our room to an executive room for just £10 and it was worth it. Lovely bathroom, huge TV and sitting area. There were lots of extra treats like bottled water, gingerbread and shortbread and a nice range of tea and coffee. Everything you might need was included and they even offer toothpaste and razors if needed at no extra cost. The toiletries were nice quality and plentiful and they provide very large high quality towels, robes and slippers which adds a nice touch. The room was warm and the bed was very comfortable. The spa is modern and very clean and tidy with a good range of facilities the staff here were also lovely and welcoming. We had a relaxing few hours here before dinner. Dinner was included in the Marco Pierre White restaurant. We had two courses both of which were delicious, well cooked and filling. I would always recommend the fillet steak. The waiters were charming and friendly and made delicious cocktails. There was also excellent standard live music which added so much ambience. The waiters gave us breakfast tips and we made sure to get there before 9 and had no wait time at all. The buffet was delicious and you could tell the food was high quality. There was really nothing more I could ask from a hotel stay. This hotel does everything to a very high standard and the little touches that so many hotels overlook make all the difference. The staff are all friendly, well presented and efficient. Can't wait to return! Thanks to everyone at the Yew Tree for a great weekend.

    « Relaxing experience »

We stayed at Yew Lodge as it was near to Donington Park where we had run in the National cross country race so we just wanted somewhere to stay overnight and relax with a nice meal. Yew Lodge had everything we wanted pool, steam room, Jacuzzi, lovely comfortable room, a place to relax and have a drink and a Marco Pierre White restaurant where we enjoyed a very good meal. A good choice of food for breakfast before our departure. We would definitely stay at a Best Western again.

    « Very noisy room »

A decent seeming hotel. My bedroom had dated decor but was clean and pleasant enough; the bathroom was smarter. The bed fairly comfortable, though the pillows lumpy. Breakfast was good. However, I was repeatedly woken in the night by a very loud banging sound from above - apparently heating plant or similar just above my ceiling. (I was in room 320.) It may have been set off somehow by the strong wind that night as the sound seemed to coincide with gusts of wind. Anyway, impossible to sleep through. Fortunately I had brought some earplugs, which I put in, but they should not be necessary (and I find earplugs uncomfortable so they also disturb my sleep). The hotel should fix this.

« over night stay and car parking for 15 nights »

my wife and i have just been on holiday to pourto rico in spain we had a early flight so we stayed over night in this hotel and parked our car there for 15 nights i could recommend this hotel to anyone the staff are really friendly and the rooms are first class the shuttle service to and from the airport was spot on if you need a over night stay for anything give this hotel a try

« No disabled access to march Pierre White restaurant »

One of our party was in a wheelchair. The restaurant was down 3 steps! The solution was for the staff to put down a very steep ramp which would be extremely unsafe for any one push a wheelchair up or down. The hotel has been having major refurbishments so not to be DDA compliance in 2016 is shocking and shameful. The food was also terrible . My advice avoid it

« excellent Hotel, efficient, friendly staff great spa facilities »

My daughter and I stayed here for just one night. We were standing at the one day antique fair at Donnington Park. It was a great choice. For the price of a simple B&B ( Sunday night price £65 for the room) we got a lovely Twin room with ensuite inc a bath. The room itself was spacious with every facility inc kettle, wifi, large screen Tv. They even provided sparkling water. We had a swim in the beautiful pool and relaxed in the Jacuzzi afterwards. Later we booked a table at the restaurant, which proved to be a great success. The food was beautifully cooked and presented. When the waiter heard it was my daughters birthday he presented us with a wooden plaque/plate which someone had outlined the words Happy Birthday in chocolate and decorated with miniature chocolate fudge cakes and raspberries. We ordered a bottle of wine which was a reasonable £19 though you have to be mindful of the 10% service charge. The service was excellent however and we did not begrudge them a penny of that. We were only in the Hotel for twenty four hours but left feeling as though it was worth every penny. We did not take breakfast as we had to leave early to be at the Fair but I am sure it would have been of the same quality as everything else. It just goes to prove that you don't have to pay through the nose for high level hospitality!

The hotel is beautifully decorated the staff were welcoming and kind. The Marco Pierre white Restaraunt was fantastic the food was top notch. Our room was very clean the bathroom was clean, lovely spa, well worth a visit.

    « Great spa facilities »

Booked here through a wowcher deal. Hotel has free parking, gym and spa. The gym is small but well kitted out. The pool and spa facilities are great. It has a jacuzzi, steam room, sauna which has an ice bath outside and two seats with foot baths. The rooms are clean with new bathrooms. The decor of the bedroom was slightly dated compared to the reception area and Marco Pierre White restaurant. The restaurant was beautiful with a excellent pianist. The food was good but it was the service that made it. We had a delightful young Italian waiter who was very attentive. A great night away to relax with a loved one, we would definitely visit again.

    « Wowcher stay »

We stayed here on a wowcher overnight deal which included an afternoon tea which was awful & the staff made us feel extremely unwelcome as did the manager. However the rooms were fantastic and the marco Pierre White restaurant was fabulous as were the evening staff! The leisure facilities were lovely & the changing rooms were clean. Overall a lovely stay-just felt the manager & day time staff could have been friendly.

Excellent Management - staff very friendly and efficient. Fabric of the Hotel was in good condition - some the best towels ever. Food was very good - [the breakfast granola was wonderful]. We used it as a base for Derbyshire Peaks/ Dales

« Great for Hotel and Parking for East Midlands Airport. »

Used Holidat Extras to find accommodation for East Midlands airport. Glad we paid the extra. Lovely big room. Breakfast was full English and more. Staff were very friendly and attentive. We parked at the hotel and the transfer was included in the price. The bed was a bit hard but that was our opinion not a fault. Would recommend this hotel for East Midlands airport and would definitely use them again.

Very attentive and friendly staff, tasty evening mean and breakfast in well appointed relaxed restaurant. Very nice swim in pool rounded off the stay. Comfortable rooms. The family also visited Twyford Cross Zoo nearby. Would return.

    « Lovely hotel »

Booked this as many have mentioned through a deal on wowcher. We had and early check in and late check out which were handy as well as use of the pool and meal in the restaurant. The room was clean, comfy and a decent size. The meal in the restaurant was really nice and the rack of ribs were huge. Only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is there was much to do around the hotel.

« Reeds and non members! »

Absolutely love Reeds and as a member for many years wish they would stop allowing in large groups for Spa days who only want to get drunk, be abusive and think they own the place by coming in for one day.... when in fact they would be much better suited to a weekend in Kavos. Shame one such person from a group was recently abusive and sarcastic to a valued member of staff who was pushed into resigning due to their rudeness and lack basic manners. (The rest of the group were embarrassed by the lead person and separately apologised for her) Look forward to visiting again tonight and enjoying a quiet night without the Benidorm mob!!!

« Average hotel and restaurant - avoid the 'Spa' at all costs »

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Myself and 21 other ladies booked a package for an overnight spa break. This included use of the 'spa', a 25 minute treatment, lunch, dinner and breakfast the following morning. In short, the only reason I have given the review a 3* was for the attentive and friendly staff of the hotel and restaurant. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for Reeds Health Club and Spa. I could write pages on our bad experience in the Spa but here's the lowdown: ? The Spa is not big enough or has the facilities to cater for a large party plus other regular people coming in (seating, beds, treatment rooms) ? Facilites included: pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna room and two foot baths ? The booking system for treatments appears haphazard and our schedule was given to us on a scrap of paper written in pencil ? 3 of our party booked extra treatments before arrival and were told on the day the slots were no longer available because the therapists ?needed a break' ? Lunch was sandwiches, a bowl of fruit and a scone. One of our party is a coeliac and received two slices of ham and a side salad. Due to the spa staff getting confused over treatments (which ended up with one of our party missing her treatment - we had not received our times by this point), we were given a complimentary drink to compensate - thank you! However, there was little communication/planning by the team as we asked for more cream and jam for the scones as there wasn't enough. We also had to ask for the drinks that came with our lunch. We explained to the lady serving us that we had booked the package that advertised wine with your lunch (as per their website). She said we had already had our drinks (the round of complimentary drinks) and continued to say the gentleman who had given us those ?would be in lots of trouble'. We asked her to double check with the gentleman/the manager, as we had understood the previous drinks to be separate of the lunch drinks. She couldn't cope with this simple request and had a meltdown, throwing the paper and pen at our group yelling ?take the order yourself!'. This is obviously completely unacceptable in any circumstance especially when there was zero negativity from our party over the matter of drinks. She continued to the staff room collecting her belongings still yelling about our group saying that she ?had been running after us all day' (we'd been there an hour and a half) and ?all she'd done was fetch jam for us'. The manager of the Spa came and apologised profusely for her behaviour quoting she had ?chest problems' and had worked there for 12 years. Her outburst was both unprofessional and unprovoked. The manager and gentleman who had originally seen to us, were able to get our drinks quickly and efficiently. Our treatments and afternoon continued with no further outbursts or resignations of staff members. I had the neck, back and shoulder massage, which was good. The therapist was skilled however I noticed that the towels on the bed were not changed as I left and was simply re-made. Dinner was a different experience all together. The manager of Marcos greeted us warmly and sorted us a seating area in the bar for all of us. Drinks were more on the expensive side with a cocktail averaging around £7-£8 and a bottle of prosecco at £28. We had a private function room for dinner and our three-course meal was presented well. The food was cooked nicely, however I saw the menu later on and saw the food was quite expensive in the restaurant. Luckily for us this was included in our package. Our waiters were friendly and funny. They regularly came to take our drinks orders and were efficient with our food order. All in all, not a bad hotel. The first floor where you enter has been spruced up, other floors and rooms are dated. The toilets on the second floor were dirty and not cleaned regularly. More on the expensive side in terms of drinks and food. Avoid the spa at all costs if you have more than around 4 people in your group. UPDATED: Since posting my original review, Yvonne (the Hotel Manager) has been in contact with me regarding the issues we experienced during our stay. Throughout her contact, she has been both professional and friendly. We were offered a reasonable part refund for our stay. Thank you Yvonne for taking the time look into our complaint and resolve it suitably.

    « Wowcher weekend »

We booked this stay using a voucher we had bought on wowcher and we were very impressed from start to finish. Booking with the hotel was easy, and they advised me of any possible extra charges with using the deal. When we arrived the check in staff were friendly and very helpful. We had upgraded to an executive room and this was clean and had everything we needed. On our first night we had a meal in Marcos. This was included in the deal, while the food was very nice there was nothing wow about it. As I mentioned our 2 course meal was included, but had we paid full price for the meal I think we would have been disappointed, however all the restaurant staff were very helpful and the restaurant was clean. Our trip to the spa on Saturday was very relaxing and again the facilities were kept clean and the staff were friendly. Breakfast both mornings was good with lots of choice. Overall we were very happy with our stay and the hotel was clean with friendly helpful staff. We would definitely stay here again.

« Good place to stay near East Midlands Airport »

Stayed here for the first time on 4 February 2016, the night before our holiday, because of an early flight from East Midlands airport. Also left my car in their care whilst away. Included in the price was a 10-15 minute transfer to airport. What we liked about this hotel was that the car remained at the hotel (no need to move the car somewhere else in the morning). Hotel room was very comfy and we found the staff friendly and helpful. The Restaurant is Pierre Marco White so expect top end food. Less fancy food can be ordered through room service. On return to this country just rang the hotel and they picked us up from the airport.

Excellent reception staff check in quick and easy. Arrived yo stay overnight and park while away abroad. Not a problem transfer quick and easy. While we were there we arrived early enough to use the pool and spa which was included a real bonus. Left too early for breakfast but had a meal at the attached restaurant which I will NOT be using again, overpriced, unfriendly and average food. Shame because it could be so much better..

« Don't waste your time or money »

The staff are rude, unhelpful and unprofessional. The food in the restaurant is dire (when it finally arrives)! The cleanliness left a lot to be desired, particularly the toilets. This is without a doubt the worst hotel I've ever stayed in.

Stayed Sunday night at short notice got a good deal. Rooms where great, close to airport but you Can not hear aircraft. Great breakfast plenty of choice great service. Special mention must be said for the night porters who went the extra step for us with food after service two great guys. One downside thought alcoholic drinks where a tad expensive. Overall a great stay.

We stayed here for two nights (30/31st Jan) and it was the best hotel we have ever stayed in in this country. The staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Everything was clean and smart and the food was out of this world. Like Arnie - we will be back!!

What a beautiful hotel! Everything about this hotel was just fantastic! From reception to housekeeping, the spa, the restaurant this place is brilliant. We had a beautiful room that was spotless, very comfortable and with everything and more that we needed. Nothing was too much trouble. We had a 2 night stay and used the restaurant which was very classy, most importantly the food was superb, and the staff were fab. The spa was great and the treatments well worth having. My shoulder which was stiff and sore is now free and easy to move thanks to the massage I had!! Thank you for a relaxing, most enjoyable break. We will be back soon!

Spa facilities are small but adequate. Good value for money. Rooms were warm and comfortable. Marco restaurant was good but noisy. Staff very friendly. We had been looking forward to a relaxing Spa weekend and although we enjoyed our time as a group, we were one of a number of people who had complained about a large group of young children running around the hotel. Very family friendly - lots of parents with young children who were extremely well behaved.

This is a lovely hotel , nice decor and furnishings. Very good reception area and excellent staff. The rooms were spacious and with very comfortable beds and nice bathrooms.......spotlessly clean !! All staff were very pleasant and helpful at all times. Overall a very enjoyable stay and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

From the planning with the lovely Clare through to our wedding day, this was a perfect experience. My bridesmaids, pageboy and I stayed the afternoon before and had afternoon tea, delicious !! The actual day went like clockwork, many thanks to our awesome MC and his team, truly fantastic. The food for both the daytime and evening buffets was delicious and we had a lot of choice, all of our guests commented on the quality. All in all, you all made our special day so memorable for us, thank you so much to everyone involved, we have recommended you to other couples we know are planning to get married !!! All good wishes to all from Richard and Pam Hammond.

Arrived at hotel for an overnight stay before next day flight .Staff on reception were efficient and friendly .The room was very good well worth the money, how ever alas that can not be said for the food ,how on earth Marco would want to put his name on serving up such disgusting food it was appalling he is not doing himself any favours ,no wonder he's down to advertising stock cubes .saying that the staff were apologetic and asked what they could do to rectify the matter it's easy get a better chef and serve fresh food .

« Lovely Surprisingly charming hotel. »

We had booked in on a Wowcher deal, which included room, breakfast & 2 course Marco Pierre White meal at the hotel. When we arrived we were apprehensive as some of the reviews were very harsh & to be far the outside of the Hotel is very concrete and angled. Once you hit reception what a charmer. Lovely decor & furnishings & the warm cosy atmosphere & staff were a joy! Super quick & very easy check in. Room was lovely and spotless. We then hit the Spa. Great, again very clean but they had everything you needed. After chilling we went to dinner a little still worried about the food & the new menu. What a laugh. The service was impeccable!!! Helen, Paul & Muzzy were all fantastic & knew everything about all of the food & what wine they recommended with which meal. It was amazing!!! Have already rebooked up as fantastic!!

We went for a meal here, is it really a MPW restaurant? If so, he should have second thoughts. Staff were very poor and the food was not up to standards of his other restaurants. Seemed a strange place for a MPW restaurant too, a 3 star hotel? Poor.

    « Great stay »

I visited the hotel on 23/1/16 for an overnight stay with my husband and 3 other couples . We started the day by having a lovely massage followed by a delicious meal at the marco Pierre White restaurant. All the staff were very pleasant and accommodating but special thanks to front of house Muzzy and his team in the restaurant - they couldn't do enough for our party and work so hard. The room was spotlessly clean and it was a really relaxing break. Thanks to all the staff.

Spent one night here on a spa package bought direct from the hotel. Went with my daughter and can only say great things about the whole experience. Perfect welcome by reception, lovely room, fantastic 3 course meal at Marco Pierre White restaurant, enjoyed spa facilities and lovely scalp massage. Finished the experience with a lovely breakfast. Cannot find anything negative to say and will be definitely re visit. Thank you all.

Wasn't expecting a lot from this overnight stay, but got a pleasant surprise. We upgraded the rooms and found them to be very clean and spacious. Beds v comfortable and the rooms had smart TV.s as a bonus. The evening meal came as a bigger surprise, with excellent service and plenty of choice. Breakfast the following morning however did disappoint, with long cues and ran out of blackpudding and mushrooms and understaffed on the counters. Certainly worth the money and pleasantly surprised.

Amazing service from booking to leaving. An 80 th birthday party in a private room catering for folks from 8 months to 84 years ,pushchairs and wheelchairs with some amongst them with allergies to gluten dairy eggs and nuts all catered for with no fuss or bother...Muzzy looked after us rowdy lot in a very friendly but professional manner and was even on hand the following morning to ensure we all sat together for breakfast to round off our stay brilliantly...Many thanks to Penny too for all her help and patience when booking the party. The meal was excellent and the rooms were lovely and comfortable with all you need for a night away

« OK for a night or two »

Had a midweek business stopover. Rooms clean and wifi fee and fast. The gym small and typically packed in early Jan, but good equipment in working order.....only opens at 7am. Room service - tasty curry but pricey at £14+. Breakfast OK but avoid the omelette as it was like rubber. So, in summary, don't avoid as not much else in Kegworth, but don't go out your way to stay there!

    « Bittersweet Review »

I'll try keep this short: I really liked the hotel room and venue. It was lovely, well decorated, furnished and clean. Very nice, thank you. We chose Best Western Yew Lodge for a desperately needed sleep and spa break through a Wowcher deal = The Wowcher voucher cost £140.00 for the two-night hotel and restaurant deal with breakfast + 1 supper = awesome. Be Warned, Wowcher and Groupon deal-hunters: READ THE SMALL PRINT BEHIND THE SMALL PRINT - no worries. The Yew Lodge is complimented with a sparklingly fresh restaurant endorsed by Marco Pierre White, which to public understanding, Marco Pierre White restaurants are renowned for their Steakhouse specialities. After enjoying our first supper, we are asked for payment. The bill arrived and we discovered the voucher states: "no steak meals" - as a blokey bloke I'm thinking: "It is a steak restaurant, my God, what nonsense is this! Why would a diner visit a steak restaurant and order sea-bass or lasagne which can be enjoyed at home?!?" - no worries. We paid for our stay of course, but we were asked to provide card details to pay for our first supper, with card details which the day receptionist with short, bobbed, blonde hair should've taken when we checked-in. It turned out that though she had our card, she didn't save the card details for whatever reason - must've found the job disruptive, but No worries. We eloped to bed after supper - as guests usually do when staying in a hotel. We were chased like hunted foxes and phoned down from our room by the receptionist on night duty, a girl with long black hair, to settle payment for supper, ever so friendly and courteous with a complete lack of customer service skills and glued on smile - no worries. Eventually I got out of bed and sarcastically waltz'd through the crowded hotel lobby and restaurant entrance, semi-naked in bed slippers, to pay for our supper bill in reception at 23:00 - you'd usually take care of this when checking-out, but No Worries.... I got a few gasps and cackles from the guests though = score! I'd hoped the message sunk in, because I believe humourous sarcasm is the best way to show up an idiot..... but it didn't work. After a short disrupted night's sleep - caused by drunk idiots gobbing off loudly in the hallway waaaay past midnight and even knocking on our doors - we had a lovely breakfast in bed and spent the day in the spa chilling out = Awesome. The second, and last supper: The restaurant staff are very courteous, witty and friendly, we had a great time. It was expensive mind: £94.00 for a two-course meal with a glass of wine each; Wowzers does not equal Wowchers. We were again chased for payment, right there on the spot after supper, by hotel staff management. My first card declined the night before, even though I paid upfront and fully with the second card we had. It was suggested to us that was a problem for them, which I can understand, they were perhaps jumpy with us, but we were fully paid up, so it wasn't really warranted. But this is when we finally decided we'd enough of this place. It was 21:30. We packed our bags and walked downstairs. My girlfriend, who was treating us, gave the reception and restaurant / hotel manager what-for! It wasn't even the same receptionist from the night before and I felt really sorry for her. She told them, very clearly, she wasn't happy with the way we were treated like farm animals, considering we had already paid for our stay, and wanted to leave and refuse any further payments on account of the lousy service we'd endured from just those three individuals. She was completely in her right to complain and decline to pay any further for our stay there, considering we'd done nothing and it was quickly becoming a rather expensive weekend. No one even tried to reconcile or reason, but stare and argue with us instead = disappointing, because I did not want to drive home at 21:30 on a cold drizzly Saturday night after paying for a weekend away!!! Four days later, we discover the hotel took payment from her card for the supper - this is not cool, considering they must've arranged to do so straight after we left. As a result, we've now opened an enquiry with HSBC and VISA. She's since been paid back and we are submitting complaints and findings here on Tripadvisor, Whistleblower, Citizens Advice, MoneySupermarket etc. Conclusion: My job takes me worldwide. We've both stay in Radisson's, Marriott's, Hilton's, inns, motels, bungalows, game reserves, campsites around the world: Between Paris, London, Cape Town, New York, Hong Kong, Udon Thani, Pettavaithalai, Kruger Park...... We never experienced ignorance and careless customer service anywhere like we endured from those few individuals = a big statement. End

    « Last minute break »

Decided last minute to have a short break with the kids, we mainly wanted somewhere with a pool and between Nottingham and Leicester, this fitted the bill perfectly and we had a great time. From the welcoming receptionists, great breakfast and nice pool we had a lovely time. All personnel were very friendly and helpful.

« OK for an overnight stay - just! »

Stayed before and after flying from East Midlands Airport, for which it it is perfectly situated. Tired rooms with noisy floorboards and noisy beds. Clean but clearly in need of an update. Definitely not four star. Marco Pierre White restaurant a real rip-off. Hugely over priced with small portions,"tired" bread and very indifferent service. Check out tried to charge me twice for a meal, claiming that I had not paid at the table but charged to the room. Waited over half an hour in freezing temperatures for a return cab organised by the hotel who in their advertising claim a 10 min turn around. Avoid, and choose alternative hotels for the airport.

« Hotel of choice in Nottingham »

I have stayed here before but when booking this time also searched for a similar type of hotel with a spa etc and couldn't find anything that made the grade. We had three rooms for one night and were very pleased: all beds gave a moat comfortable night's sleep. Robes, slippers and biscuits all provided in the room with the offer of fresh milk - excellent touches! Also, they will provide any toiletries you may have forgotten. There isn't really a view to be had but the hotel is well placed near the motorway and it's about a 10-15 minute drive in to West Bridgford and another 10 into the city. There's very little noise, especially considering its proximity to West Mids airport. There was a wedding party in full throes but it was quiet by midnight. Wifi is free for as many devices as you like via a registration process and there are complementary newspapers. We dined in Marco's restaurant and were all impressed with the food and service. There's a fair range of price choices on the menu: we went for the more expensive. Both the gym and pool are small but adequate and the whole spa area - including steam room and sauna - is kept clean: I'd join here if I were local. I can definitely recommend this hotel.

    « Leisure Facilities Are Great! : ) »

My partner & I have been here twice now to use the pool & facilities, we love it! As we are not local to the hotel we still feel a small drive out to gain uncomplicated access for non residents is a bonus for us. The pool area is clean & tidy. However, there were confusing signs for the Ladies/Gents changing rooms - for some reason they had been swapped(?) with only an A4 piece of paper, badly taped, over the sign to indicate...after being in the pool, returning to get changed...the Ladies sign was wet on the floor outside the Gents door - lucky I had glanced the gents urinal on my way out to the pool (!?) which totally made sense on my way back from the pool! Also - from this conclusion, my shower & changing was not a very relaxed affair due to wondering how many men would perhaps walk in! The floor of the changing area remained wet & dirty which isn't nice anywhere, if very regular spot checks are made then this could of been better & the sign replaced. Also - a mention @ reception sign in may of helped clarify the changing arrangements. The hotel looks very attractive itself, with the Leisure access being independent from the car park, also has it's own dedicated bar/cafe/seating on the ground floor entrance/reception area - a plus if you have gone for a 'spa day'. The gym is located on this level with the pool & changing rooms being on the lower floor.

    « wowcher stay »

We stay here on a one night BB&EM for £99 for two. offered room 328 on the 3rd floor but it was noisy from some fans outside so we changed to 303 which was quieter but no view only opposing rooms. the room was comfortable and had everything required The spa area with sauna and steam rooms were nice, swimming pool was cold so we didn't go in. The area in Kegworth there wasn't much to see or do if youre walking its fine if you're just stopping the night or a business stay. The marco pierre white restaurant wasnt that impressive, but the breakfast was very good, The beer was dear a £4 a pint. basically it was clean and alright for one night.

« Restarurant review only - fronted by a celebrity chef? An affront. »

I thought I'd finished this review but it was half-finished. We were there for a friend's wedding reception, so I would have expected better. The second disappointing experience I've had at a Marco Pierre Whiite-badged place. The main meal was a less than average roast that I could have cooked better myself. The broccoli was burnt - 1. I didn't know it was even possible to burn broccoli 2. Burnt food should never be sent out. The dessert was just bizarre - something with chocolate that didn't actually taste of chocolate, inedible coconut ice cream. Ghastly. I would have expected something much better from a place fronted by a celebrity chef.

    « Great getaway »

Spent two nights in the hotel, all the staff we came into contact with were warm and friendly and willing to go the extra mile for us. Fantastic clean room with comfy bed and pillows and all the amenities you would expect from a Premier hotel. Public areas were all very well presented. Will definitely be back.

    « Top Notch Food »

We booked a wowcher experience - Hotel/breakfast/Twycross Zoo. Have to say that what made it a magical weekend for us was the food! The room was decent - comfortable and clean. But the food was exceptional - from the understanding of our tardiness (delayed returning from a walk in the Peaks) to the unexpected live jazz singer on arrival, to the incredible Fillet Steak, the top class French waiter and even agreeing to us taking the dessert back in a doggie bag (though we didn't need to in the end) and to take the rest of our bottle of wine to our room. I didn't fancy a cooked breakfast in the morning after such a feast the night before, however the gf said it was that good I HAD to have one so I did - and it was the best one I've EVER tasted in my life! Twycross Zoo was a bit of a let down but for the price of the deal it was very good value indeed - would definitely recommend staying here. Incidentally there were wedding functions on during our stay, but we were not disturbed at all.

    « Another great stay »

We stayed here last year on a park and fly deal, so we did again and received the same great service as before. The staff are friendly and polite. A very professional experience. The rooms are very nice with loads of amenities.

    « Not a good experience »

The rooms lacked comfort and were not clean, namely the toilets. Staff were unprofessional, unhelpful and impolite. Restaurant service was slow and the food/hot drinks were cold when they were finally brought to the table.

Not a nice place at all! The facilities leave a lot to be desired. The unprofessional staff were not interested in resolving any issues and the food/drinks left a lot to be. desired. A real disappointment and a complete waste of time and money.

    « Premier?!? »

Due to my line of work, I stay in many Best Western Premier hotels across the world & I have to say this is by far the worst so far! A good nights sleep is important for me especially when I am back on the road & 5 am to head to a meeting in which I am to present technical research data to a board of executives, however, I would have slept better in my car. Matress was sunken - sheets had what looked like blood spots dotted in several places - pillows were wafer thin - Bathroom extractor fan sounded like my washing machine. To top it off, the desk had sticky patches of god knows what all over it & the so called 'Premium towels' were stiff & scratchy. Premier... Really? Best Western really needs to review its allocation of the title Premier to the Yew Tree

Have stayed here about 15 times now. Reception team best they've ever been. Warm friendly. Personable and provide a great welcome. Food on the whole very good. Occasionally good. Long to have a decent shower fitting in my room. Showers sometimes a bit qwerky but rooms otherwise always great with excellent smart TVs. Good wifi. Easy parking. Really like this place.

    « NYE Gala Dinner »

After struggling to find something to do for NYE I came across Yew Lodge following meeting a member of Yew Lodges Sales team at a networking event. After checking all of the details and seeing if my sister and her boyfriend wanted to join us we booked. Although the start of the night didn't go quite to plan (a faulty zip and a trip back home to get another outfit) what followed was a fantastic evening. The banqueting staff couldn't do enough for us. We'd expected to join the disco late on and miss the meal but the staff went above and beyond, kept our arrival drinks and meals back until we returned. The photo booth was so much fun and we joined other parties within the hotel for a change of scenery and to experience the different DJ's. New Year's Day started with a tasty breakfast. Again the staff were fantastic, polite, cheerful and friendly. The team are a credit to this venue, we can't thank them enough for the experience we had whilst staying, and what better way to start 2016 than relaxing in a spa.

My partner bought this for us as a Christmas present.... Top present, one very happy lady!!!!!!!! This hotel was just fantastic. The staff were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. the spa and their staff were lovely, i had a lady called Stacey (i think sorry) who was a star. and then to top it off, we had some superb food in the restaurant which was Marco Pierre White Italian New York restaurant, again the staff were fantastic. Would recommend to anyone and will be returning.

« Lovely pet friendly hotel »

We have stayed here a few times now but this was the first time at xmas. We upgraded to a superior room which was much bigger than the deluxe room we usually have and it had a jaccquzi bath. Xmas eve we ate in the marco pierre restaurant and although the decor and staff are lovely the meal didnt match previous meals in the restaurant before the refurb, nothing fundamentally wrong but i guess i expected more given the name behind it. Breakfast was delicous buffet style, hot and plenty of choice. Unfortunately our break got cut short due to one of our dogs being unwell, the staff were very helpful and sympathetic and although we didnt check out till 3.45 they didnt charge us for the last night. Cant ever fault the staff here all working hard to ensure people feel welcome and enjoyed there xmas. Used the spa facilities on the 1st day, very clean and relaxing as usual. Thank you will be back again soon when visiting family.

« New Years party night »

Upon checking into the Yew Lodge Hotel we were greeted with a smile. Check in was quick and efficient. We had a family room on the 4th floor. The room was in the quite part of the hotel. The room was lovely and plenty of room to move around. The en-suite was of a good size and in excellent condition. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. The overal New Years experience was fantastic, but I have to say the food service was a little slow but that didn't have any effect on the night. The entertainment was brilliant and seemed to play to everyone's tastes as the dance floor was full all night. The atmospher of the night was happy and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The photo booth was a fantastic add on to the disco, lots of props and fun had in the booth. We counted one group of 16 people with props having their photos taken together. Overall a brilliant experience and will look to repeat it again next year.

« Relaxing spa break, great value. »

We booked a spa break plus one extra night. I had asked for a quiet room and as there was a wedding taking place on the day that we arrived we were upgraded for free to a room in a quieter part of the hotel. We heard no sound at all from the wedding party or the Christmas party which took place the following evening. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were all very welcoming, helpful and polite. The meal in the restaurant (a Marco Pierre White Italian New York restaurant) was absolutely delicious. We did have to pay for some extras towards the meal - a supplement for a steak dish and extra for olives, sides and sauce for the steak - but could have stuck to dishes that were fully included in the cost of the break if we had wanted to. The treatments in the spa were so relaxing and the pool area was clean and well maintained. Overall we received excellent value for money and had a fantastic relaxing time.

« Venue for private Xmas Party event »

This was the venue for the East Midlands Xmas Ball; 150 diners were all served pretty efficiently; good music and Spicers like to dance, so the modest dancefloor was soon pretty crowded. We bought wine at £19.50 a bottle - which we felt was OK given we were a captive market! We stayed across the road at the Kegworth Hotel (walking distance) because Yew Lodge was full when we booked.

    « Lovely Hotel »

Stayed in a superior room for one night, very comfortable bed and a pillow menu. Lighting was good for a hotel room - a lot better than some! Great selection of tea/coffee/hot chocolate - with biscuits and brownies. Also a selection of fresh fruit if you want it, all included in the price. Bedroom was a nice size, with a deep bath and decent shower. We had an evening meal in Marco's - the fillet steak was sublime, although expensive. Staff were very helpful and pleasant, and the breakfast was tasty and hot (buffet style) with every item you could wish for. Fried eggs are made whilst you wait. £90 for a one night stay, breakfast included. Great price, great hotel, great food - we will definitely be returning in the future.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Me my boyfriend and our 9 year old daughter stayed her for 1 night with another family as the kids had a toutnement the next day. As we were approaching the hotel it looked stunning sat on top of the hill all lit up looked like a castle. We checked in very easy with no problems and was given a code for the free wifi. We dropped our bags off in the rooms and headed down to the pool very relaxed atmosphere the kids loved it we sat in the sauna and jacuzzi while the kids were swimming. There was also a gym which unfortunately we didn't have time to use. Our room was very spacious comfy and clean. We had a king size bed while our daughter had a double sofa bed. Our room had tv, hot chocolate sachets with a kettle, hair dryer, iron and complimentary bottled water. We didn't eat at the hotel because we didn't get there till 4 and we had to take the kids to register for their tournament so we ate out, but the restaurant was lovely think they had a singer on but had finished by the time we returned. Breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice for our daughter which sometime can be a problem as she's got celiac disease but in this case there was plenty for her to choose from. We really enjoyed our stay here just wish we had more time here.

« No room at the Inn!! »

After being badly let down with the Holiday Inn Riverside Derby, we turned up in Kegworth very tired and upset. We have stayed at the Yew Lodge many times but thought this time we would have a change. Wrong. Our family from Zurich were to join us the following day for a family Christmas get together. 3 rooms is a lot to ask for at short notice, but the best Western came to our rescue. We were all on the same floor and had 2 wonderful nights. I had booked the Holiday Inn through Booking.com. Never again. Excuse the saying, it better the devil you know than the devil you don't. Well done Best Western, and thank you from me and my family.

« lovely chilled place to stay and relax »

loved it all except for over-charge £24.00 regarding breakfasts - the staff were all helpful and pleasant - they went the extra mile - we always enjoy our short stays - we find tem relaxing and very chilled - we visit on a regular basis and has told all our friends to give it a try as we know that they will all love it - shall be taking my daughter and partner and grandaughter next year - they can have a family room to share as thats what they usually do and I know they will love the Gym/pool and leisure facilities and also the Pierre Marco restuarant will be right up their street - we have eaten there and been very impressed. All round this hotel is superb - they cater for business and personal alike and we will continue to go on a regualr basis. My only critisism would be the menue for the room service could be a little more varied - could have some more basic choices - like home made shepherds pie or home made pies - and more varid salads - but hey ho Rome was not built in a day. Thank you for lovely stay Yew Lodge as ever.

Slightly better than sleeping rough I would recommend that you never use this hotel I have stayed there twice in the last couple of months and had 2 sleepless nights The first occasion I was given a room with 2 generators outside and the constant drone did not allow a good nights sleep The second time I had a room over the bar and again noise was a non sleep factor Moved rooms at midnight from a double to a twin room so had to try to sleep in a single bed

From the moment we booked in to the moment we left the staff were very good and treated us well as you would except but, you could tell that they were really interested and happy to help, or chat to you. The staff in Marco's were excellent as was all the hotel staff.

Stayed here after the Holiday Inn Derby botched our booking - no room at the inn so we had to look elsewhere. Staff at the Yew Lodge were very friendly and helpful. Rooms spacious and clean. Only down side was the 2 mass parties going on till after 1pm and the guests staggering up and down the corridor trying to find their rooms at 3a.m.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

I booked an overnight stay with my two daughters as a birthday treat. We stayed in a triple room with twin beds and a large sofa bed which was very comfortable. I do not have one negative word to say about the hotel. The spa facilities were very good and we enjoyed one treatment each which was excellent. The restaurant was fantastic, excellent food and the atmosphere during dinner was lovely. The breakfast the following morning was also excellent. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly and they all worked extremely hard during the busy weekend we were there. I have stayed in various spa hotels, but can honestly say this was the best, offering value for money with first class service.

Brilliant one night stay with friends. Great customer service, food and facilities. Excellent spa facilities and use of spa after checkout. Very nice complimentary toiletries in room. « A lovely weekend »

My other half did a groupon thing, with afternoon tea, a late check out, full use of the spa and 10% off the Marco's restaurant - I will review the restaurant separately. We paid for a room upgrade, which was £20 i think. The room itself was absolutely fine, perhaps a tad dated but warm and a good size. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The bathroom was fine, apart from the shower door leaked. And not just a little leak, there was a serious puddle after I had a shower. Once I had clocked the leak for subsequent showers I faced the head away from the door, but it still leaked a little. No major issue, but I would recommend that the hotel get this sorted. The walls of the hotel are a little thin, and there was a party going on downstairs the night we stayed. We could not hear the party in full swing, but our drunk neighbours woke us up at about 1.30am on their way back to their room. To be honest, not a deal breaker for us as we have been in that position many times, but some guests might not be very happy with this. I have never stayed at a hotel where there were so many snacks in the room! 4 packs of biscuits and some delicious brownie bites. Lots of tea and coffee. When I ran out of coffee housekeeping bought some to us straight away. The spa is nice, as long as you do not look up or down. The corridor from the changing room is suffering majorly from damp on the ceiling, it looked pretty gross. The floor was not much better either, it was dirty. However the jacuzzi, pool, sauna and steam room were all lovely. I would give this hotel a 3-4 star rating. We had breakfast the next morning too, which was VERY busy, but delicious. All in all a nice stay, and the staff were attentive and helpful.

« Great hotel and restaurant »

We stayed there this week for afternoon tea with bed and breakfast. It was a Thursday and the hotel was very busy with different conferences going on. However the restaurant was very quiet in the afternoon. The restaurant is a Marco Pierre White one, and very tastefully decorated. The afternoon tea was tasty and filling but I got the impression it had been in the fridge for a while. The staff in the hotel and restaurant were all very helpful and polite. The lounge areas are comfortable and inviting. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and warm. Our room on the 4th floor had good views of the surrounding countryside. There was a hairdryer, ironing board and iron and a large flat screen TV. The corridor walls were thin, so you could easily hear other guests passing by the room. The car park was very large but fairly full. Probably from the stay and park facility, as East Midlands Airport is close by. We have been to this hotel a few years ago and it is much improved, so we would certainly stay again.

I've stayed at this hotel many times over the past few years and it is currently the best it's every been. All staff are very friendly and welcoming, this is always my first choice when visiting the area.

The hotel has a restaurant attached, but we were told we could not eat there as it was fully booked but we could eat in the bar, the food was adequate and was the same menu as the restaurant. We ate our meal in the bar sat and had two drinks which took around an hour and half and all this time the restaurant was three quarters empty, we could have easily have eaten our meal in time for anyone to come in, very disappointed at the service

As a surprise birthday treat for reaching a certain age!, my 4 wonderful nieces took me to this hotel and spa. Luxury from start to finish. Marco Pierre White restaurant with a mouthwatering menu and great wine list. Spa is delightful, relaxing and treatments on offer all good, although I didn't get much down time in the spa as my nieces had other ideas - all of which were wonderful. Excellent venue, close to Derby and well worth a visit. Would be happy to go again, for longer than a one-night break. Staff, service and everything about the hotel and spa well worth its TripAdvisor 2015 Hall of Excellence accreditation.

    « 50th birthday party »

I held my 50th birthday party at the Yew Lodge on Saturday. Everyone had a wonderful time and there were about 80 guests. My events contact was Marcin and he did a fantastic job looking after me. We had a murder mystery event followed by a buffet which was super. We then had a disco. Couldn't fault anything - good staff, good food, lovely room, fantastic breakfast. Our guests used the spa and complimented that too. Well done to the whole team - many thanks.

« Over priced Gentlemans afternoon tea. »

My daughter bought my husband gentlemans afternoon tea for xmas last year, we went on Saturday to spend his voucher and was very disappointed with the food, the service was slow but the waitress was very helpful, in all we had 1 scotch egg to share, 1 sausage roll to share, 3 each finger sandwiches, few olives and some scones and jam, very disappointed as this cost £30, so would say don't bother.

    « Nice »

Nice place, plenty of choice of food and friendly staff, would be happy to stay again on business or pleasure, spa area was good and a decent gym, great curry house down the road too. Room was spacious but slightly run down

    « ODP GRADUATION FUNCTION »

We went here for the Leicestershire ODP graduation for our daughter and I have to say this is probably the best function I have ever been to the hotel is fantastic the staff are fantastic and the food is fantastic, with an excellent breakfast and spa facilities, I would highly recommend this hotel the added bonus is it does a parking and hotel deal for East Midlands Airport and being so close I will never use the airport parking again, a true credit to its owners and a definite must to people staying in the area, keep up the good work hope to see you soon, thank you

    « Good airport package »

We booked overnight stay and holiday parking. The friendly staff were speedy and efficient in registration. Unfortunately our "studio" room was down two flights of stairs and we had heavy bags but a porter was sent on request and one was organised for the next morning. He did not arrive and we had to go to reception to ask but the taxi driver and night porter carried our cases up. The bed was comfortable and the room well furnished. The evening meal in the restaurant was very good ( one of the best Pizza I have eaten!!) The transfers to and from the airport were quick and well organised and the car was in the same place when we returned. All in all a good value for money stay and park.

    « Disappointing afternoon tea »

We had been given afternoon tea as a gift and the gentleman's afternoon tea looked a nice change from the usual. However it did not live up to the £15pp price. The grated cheese in the sandwiches was low quality & tasteless, the ham, more fat than meat. The quiche had been replaced by a rice ball - which to be fair was quite tasty. On the positive side the sausage roll was good and the scones were light and delicious, although the cream seemed to be aerated and not what you expect with a scone. The service was slow, possibly because there was a wedding party in one of the function rooms, but having to ask twice and wait a further 15 mins for a jug of tap water is not good customer care. Our previous experience of the hotel had been good but there are many other places serving a better value afternoon tea experience so unfortunately I couldn't recommend the Yew Lodge experience.

« Great Service Great Food »

We stayed at the hotel for one night to celibrate our Golden Wedding. The service was excellent from the first minute we entered reception .Our cases were taken to our rooms which enabled us to deal with the wheelchair. The food in the evening was superb and the waiters very attentive. This is a transit hotel for East Midlands Airport so there is some noise from planes. However. a very enjoyable evening was had.

    « Delicious afternoon tea. »

We were given a voucher for Afternoon Tea for 2 as a gift. We chose Yew Lodge Hotel to use it. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the restaurant is charming and our Tea was delicious. This was our first visit to this hotel and we hope to return soon.

    « Lots of facilities »

No time to use all of the facilities which look very good. Friendly helpful reception, amusing restaurant staff (food a bit overpriced but pleasant enough). Clean and comfortable room, good bathroom facilities, free wifi and parking.

    « Everything you would want for a stop-over... »

Staying here as part of a conference, the welcome on reception was first class. Helped in booking taxis to airports, stations and the catering for our event....outstanding. The bedroom was spacious, beds comfy, I love a pillow menu! Fabulous toiletries! Wifi fast and reliable, rooms quiet enough to work. You can here your neighbours closing or banging their main doors...a standard hotel moan! That really was the only noise. Being next to the road just minimal traffic noises. Only issue was the temperature in the bedroom, a little nippy and radiator did not seem to want to work...but in the hotels defence I didn't complain to them about it and I like a cool room to sleep in.

    « Excellent value hotel »

Stayed here for two nights on business, large corporate venue though not too big for the personal touch Room was very comfortable facing away from the road, decent bathroom too Good quality breakfast buffet Working in the area again soon will look to stay here again

    « Pleasant hotel »

Stayed here for 2 nights on business. I was staying in one of the Studio rooms, which is a bit of a distance from the main reception, lots of corridors! The room was small but adequate, and the ensuite had a shower only (not a problem for me). The leisure centre has good equipment in it, and also a nice size pool. We ate 1 night in the Marco Pierre White restaurant, which was very good. Service was also excellent. Drinks at the bar are a bit on the dear side. Overall a good hotel, in a good location for Castle Donnington.

« Dinner Bed and Breakfast »

Stayed overnight midweek. Restaurant area was fully booked so had a table in the bar area with a colleague from France. Menu was the same in both places. Wine list was OK but a bit pricey. Food from well organised menu was of good quality and well presented. Staff were obviously very busy but very helpful. Room was at the back of the hotel and very comfortable and the main thing was that it was quiet. Not sure about rooms in other parts of the hotel. Should imagine this place gets noisy in the wedding season. A great place to stay when working in the area and as other restaurants are not very close, or very good, in the village, it provides a good service. Free wifi throughout the hotel and it worked Probably not so attractive for social, family or holiday stays. Would stay here again on business trips, good location for motorways, airport and several large towns.

« Our wedding at yew lodge hotel »

We got married here on 26th September 2015. It really was the best day ever! The food and the mexican evening buffet was brilliant. Everyone said how much they enjoyed having something a little different. The DJ's are epic and really get the party going! i'd also reccomend hiring the LOVE lights from them as they look fantastic in photos. I'd like to say a special thank you to Clare & Magda for helping us organise everything and a huge thank you to Amy and her team for making everything run like clockwork on the day! Nothing was too much trouble and everything was done with a smile. Everyone needs an Amy on their wedding day! It was best day of our lives. Thank you all so much. Mr & Mrs Hargreaves

    « Overall a good stay »

We enjoyed our stay at the Yew Lodge overall. We were pleased with the hotel's location. Having travelled up from Kent on a Friday evening, it was nice to find the hotel close to the motorway. We found some of the hotel features confusing and therefore we are not sure where the hotel is pitching itself. Bathrobes and slippers are the sign of a good hotel. Mixer tap shower over a bath, not so sure. Not quite so good fitting window offset by a great restaurant. Both breakfast and dinner were very good. But, as I say, overall a very pleasant stay and a good location for visiting Denby and Matlock.

« Much improved since last visit a year ago »

This, our second visit, was a far better experience. The staff were delightful, The room was great and the breakfast was superb. It looked as if the hotel had undergone a make over, it was bright and cheery and the ambience was very good. Every where was clean and tidy and all staff were very good, Well done Yew Lodge.

    « Amazing engagement! »

We Visited this hotel for our 7 year anniversary and it will defiantly be one to remember!! My boyfriend managed a very romantic and successful proposal in the marcos restaurant with much help from the team at this hotel. A massive thank you to nicola who has been very helpful in the early stages of planning the evening with my boyfriend, the restaurant manager mustafa and our french waiter Gilles who even managed to secretly record the whole thing and send it to us. And thank you to every single member of the bar and restaurant team that evening, you were all amazing and every single one offered their congratulations to us along with a complimentary glass of champagne. The spa and bedroom facilities were also to a very high standard and the food in the restaurant was amazing! We Can't thank you all enough this will be a day we will never forget. Will defiantly see you soon!! THANK YOU!!

« Great hotel for weekend away »

We stayed Friday to Sunday, very large comfortable room plenty of in room tea & coffee. All windows could be opened to let in air. On The Friday evening we had a murder mystery booked on the steam train from, the hotel arranged a free taxi service for us. The weekend was very busy but there was plenty of polite and professional staff about. Breakfast plenty to chose from, fresh and clean,

    « Excellent friendly staff »

Booked to stay here for one night (plus 8 days car parking) because of an early morning flight out of East Midlands Airport. Had a very nice, if a bit tired, room which was quite large. There is a pool and gym and what looked to be a very popular Marco Pierre White franchised restaurant which we didn't have time to try. Staff were very friendly and efficient with our transfer to the airport (despite having to leave at 4:00 a.m.) and were there to meet us on our return. All in all an excellent service that we would not hesitate to use again.

« Nice hotel. Polite, efficient staff. »

Stayed here for 2 nights in a business trip. Hotel is comfortable and welcoming. Despite being busy there was always enough staff on to cope. Breakfast is pretty good but a little slow at times. Rooms are comfortable and fairly large with good amenities. However, I found the showers to be a little old fashioned and not very powerful. The restaurant was a 'Marco's' franchise and was expensive and not that good to be honest. The staff again were great but the food was very average. There were four of us and each had a different meal. None were that special. The pizza and calzone was particularly disappointing. Overall, I would definitely use the hotel again if in the area but I will be eating elsewhere.

« Good hotel for weekend break »

Good location for Nottingham, especially now the tram system is up and running. We stayed here and got the park and ride at Clifton South - so easy and would recommend getting to Nottingham in this way. Plus just off J24 of the M1. We were greeted by a very nice receptionist and can't fault the hotel staff, nor facilities. We made full use of the spa and thoroughly enjoyed the sauna. We didn't have an evening meal in the restaurant, so can't comment on that part of the hotel. But, we did have breakfast. We came down very late and it was clear that the hotel were trying not to have to put anything more out. I had to ask for some more cheese and my partner had to ask for more marmalade. They were fine about it and willingly got more, but that is our only niggle with the hotel. As with all hotels, the price of drinks at the bar are eye-watering, but we knew that and it was our choice to have a couple of drinks there, rather than go to the local pub. We would definitely stay there again, as well as try out other Best Westerns.

« Good hotel for a stop over »

I stayed here one night in October for a friend's wedding. I couldn't fault my experience but didn't try the attached MPW restaurant so can't comment on that. The check-in was quick and easy, and got a room on the 4th floor. The room was nice with everything you'd expect - TV, coffee/tea maker for the morning, toiletries and free wi-fi. I did try the breakfast in the morning which was adequate.

« This review is just if the restaurant not the hotel »

Oh how the might have fallen! The second disappointing meal I've had at a Marco Pierre White place in 2 weeks, after the one at The Grand Hotel in Leicester. Went there for a friend's wedding. Bar area and reception lovely, modern, rooms not up to the same standard, tired and dated decor. Never had dry chicken salad on a glass before. Definitely won't again either. RANDOM!! It's not prawn cocktail! Bland pork roast, which looked like the meat was processed, Aunt Bessie style roast potatoes, i.e. not even made by their own hands, BURNT broccoli. No excuses for sending out burnt food and you expect a place with MPWs name on it to make more of an effort with food presentation. The dessert was just bizarre. What looked like a creme brûlée but without the crispy top I.e, the texture of scrambled egg but with no taste, an all but inedible coconut ice cream and a chocolate swirl thing that was the equivalent of corked wine I.e. It tasted like chocolate gone bad. I was far from the only one to make those comments either. I expect better from a place with a patron who was once a 3 Michelin-starred chef. Perhaps he should stick to Knorr stock pots. A nice hotel in a lovely village deserves better, as do my friends who were getting married.

    « SPA weekend - wonderful »

This was our fourth visit to this hotel. As always, the service was excellent. Many members of staff have been there during the 5 years we have been visiting. ..indicative of the family friendly welcome we always recive. We have already booked for next year. Thank you to Mustaffa, Paul and Vio for going the extra mile to make our stay so enjoyable. Jean, Sandra, Tracey & Vicki xxxx

« Hotel with spa facilities but Not a spa break, »

We were four ladies seeking a relaxing spa break, which to us includes being able to relax around a pool, jaccussi, steam room for several hours and a couple of treatments. The pool area doesn't have space for recliners, there is an area similar to a cave with three sun loungers and five straight back chairs. During our visit there were a group on a hen weekend and a group on 30th party celebration .due to the lack of seating area it led to arguing over the chairs. When I complained I was told the chairs should not be reserved. This did take away from the fact the actual hotel, staff and restaurant were amazing ! One morning a waiter escorted a frail lady with Parkinson's disease to get her breakfast, then back to her seat and then ensured she was escorted back to her room !so if you want a good hotel you won't be dissapointed. If you want an actual spa break sadly you will. Also I know staff need to check the pool water but do they really need to bring vials of water to test on the bar area where drinks and food are served?

    « Very Impressed! »

I attended a team away day at the Yew Lodge Hotel today and I was very impressed with my visit. The welcome was friendly, the temperature in the conference room was perfect, the catering was great particularly the very tasty buffet lunch, the toilet facilities were spotless (always a priority on my list), and no request was too much for the staff. I've never been to this hotel before but I'd definitely like to try it out as paying, staying guest!

    « Pre flight stop-over »

We stayed for 2 one night stop-overs at each end of a holiday abroad. Got a very good deal for room, car parking and East Midland airport transfers. The hotel is very smart, staff are very efficient and dining facilities are excellent. The only criticism that I have is that, because the dining room is Marco Pierre White Restaurant, it is impossible to cast your eyes in any direction in any of the public areas (including the lift) without having to look at photographs of Marco in various poses, none of which depicts him with a smile on his face. How nausiatingly pompous and self serving is that !! Trevor Fairey

    « The perfect wedding »

We entrusted our daughter's wedding reception to the Yew Lodge, and could not be more pleased with the result. With 70 guests for the reception and 100+ for the evening party, there was a lot to organise, but nothing was too much trouble for Yvonne Hyde and her team. The liaison and advice in the months leading to the big day were efficient and full of useful tips, and our meeting the week before with Yvonne and Heather Thornton the sales manager was businesslike, comprehensive and resolved all our worries. On the day, all was as agreed and several guests said it was the most enjoyable family wedding they had attended. Special mention: to the chef for a cheese wedding cake which was a work of art: to the waitress who found space in a packed restaurant for our guests who had driven down from the Highlands the evening before without a dinner reservation: and to Yvonne and the bar staff for opening up the Health Club bar after the reception for those who wanted to watch England-Australia in the Rugby World Cup. For a function of this kind, the Yew Lodge is a truly first-class venue.

« Really enjoyable spa break!! »

We had a double room (no mini bar/fridge) with good telly, radiator a bit cranky, good tea/coffee, black-out curtains and shower attachment a bit tired/broken. An excellent breakfast, fabulous staff (Maurizio!!) but only OK meal (salmon cooked in too much oil). Alcohol prohibitively expensive. Bring your own!! Good spa but too much chlorine in poor. Fab massage. Hotel seemed very busy with too few staff in day but ok at night. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Gave us fresh milk and an extra radiator. Lovely relaxing break.
