    « Tiny rooms »

Had been to the Bestwestern Harbour view on 16-11-16. 1) To start off, with the girls at the reception - they are super rude and have no sense on how to talk. 2) No help with the luggage to our tiny rooms. 3) The beds are really bad. I had a bad backache and that was not good. On complaining all the hotel could do was add a layer of blanket on top of the beds to make it soft, but they failed. 4) Breakfast available but you need to pay a big price for it. 5) The good part about this hotel was the Location. Located at a walkable distance from Sai ying pun metro station. 6) The sky pool was another highlight from this hotel 7) the room service and the pool staff were so good. Always ready to help. If given a chance to return, I would not go. But if out of option, then only can consider it.

    « Room with a view! »

Well decent enough hotel for HK but the room was only just a bit bigger than my bed! Compact is an understatement! You have to hang your clothes on hooks on the wall! There is no bath just a small shower the other side of the toilet so when you shower the water dribbles into the toilet area which means yes you get your feet wet going to the loo during the night! Sliding door which had seen better days separates the loo from the room- washbasin is located behind the main room door! Otherwise clean and comfortable! Carpet in the passageway had seen better days. Lobby on the third floor!! Receptionist behaved like she was working in a shop! Charm costs nothing! The room was called a harbor view room well you could just about see it through the gaps in the huge buildings between the hotel and the harbor!

« Stay @ Best Western Harbour View Hotel »

One night stay before heading home. Spectacular sea view was the only plus point. Hotel location was good - near Sai Ying Pun MTR. Room does have the amenities but it is really very small and the toilet has no door!

« One of the less comfortable hotels I ever stayed in »

I did the booking from Hotwire site that says that you normally get a higher grade of hotel than what you pay for.... I started checking the hotels in harbour area in Hong Kong and found out that Best Western Harbour View is a hotel to exclude (from reading comments). When booking the "unknown" hotel and found out that the hotel I got was just that one I tried to cancel it - they never replied on my emails so I did at that time delete my recently created account on Hotwire. When coming to the hotel we got two single beds instead of the one our booking said double bed. The room is small as many other hotel in Hong Kong. No warderobe or place to hang clotes and not place for big bags. I checked the beds and they were so hard that I directly asked for another room or bedding. Direct under the sheets the spring from the metal is located and every spring is visible under the sheet. Laying on metal ! I travelled many month and have performed nearly 100 travels to Asian, Australia and New Zealand where they nearly always have this hard unconfortable beds (quality of beds in europe except a few countries have excellent beds in Europe - Nordic countries normally excellent beds in hotels). This hotel has the absolutly worst bed I ever had to lay on. If a hotel don't provide at least a decent bed they should not have more than 1 star !! We stayed the booked nights but were really suffering at night - hotels are expensive in Hong Kong and low quality - very same as in the UK. The second afternoon we wanted to use gym so we went to find a room about 12 square meter with 3 machine the were places there. Nothing else - just a water bootle and a trash bin. This should not be called gym because the running belt was not adjustable more than to increase the speed to 10. Bike no battery so it was just no use.... So called hotel with more than 35 floors and many many rooms - not possible. I made a report to Hotwire and telling their way selling a hotel room with higer grade than normal for a big joke. The price on Hotwire is about the same and even higher then on other hotel sites. My conclusion form Best Western Hotel Harbour View is = Stay away and not more than one star.

« Tiny hotel rooms, reasonable price, good location »

I stayed at this hotel for five days in September 2016 while doing some tourism in Hong Kong. I chose this hotel because the rate was pretty good for what it looked like I was getting, and because it is located close to the Sai Ying Pun MTR station. First of all, you are staying in Hong Kong. Look around. Personal space comes at a premium. That holds true for the rooms in this hotel, which are tiny. I've stayed in some comparable small hotel rooms in Tokyo, but my room here was cramped by comparison. The furnishings and drapery in the room were nothing fancy. And the bathroom stall fixtures were functional, but also nothing fancy. The TV was small, but worked fine. I really could have used a desk because I needed to get some work done. I ended up trying to work, rather uncomfortably, sitting on the bed. At least the view was nice. With respect to the service, it was average. I found that the WiFi was not very reliable. The restaurant was a bit expensive, and when I tried to work there one evening, I felt like I needed to order some tea to justify why I was sitting there. I can say that the roof top pool was clean and well maintained. It is definitely one of the better features of this hotel. The downside though is that the pool closes at 8 PM.

    « Great for a Short Break »

We stayed in a Deluxe Harbour view room for 3 nights in November. It is worth paying the little bit extra for a spectacular view and a some more room. Also, if you request a corner room there is a decent sized window ledge which gives extra storage space. The journey to the hotel from the airport was very easy - Airport Express then 2 stops on the Island Line to Sai Ying Pun. If you leave the MTR station at exit A1 you will only have a walk of 50 yards or so to the hotel. We arrived early in the morning and were advised that the room will be ready at 2pm. The young lady on reception did go through the check-in then for us so we only had to collect the room keys when we returned later. The rooms are quite small compared to western hotels but are functional. There wasn't a wardrobe but a few hooks and a couple of hangers on the wall instead. The bathroom was small too but was clean and the shower was excellent. Complimentary bottled water is provided every day. The lifts can be busy but we didn't have to wait for more than a couple of minutes or so on any day. Breakfast is a mixture of eastern and western. There is a buffet with scrambled egg, frankfurters and ham but also spring rolls and kimchi. Additionally there is a selection of cereals, fruit and hot and cold drinks. The location is excellent, close to the MTR, trams and buses. If you fancy a walk, Soho, Lang Kwai Fong, Central and the Star Ferry piers are all within 15-30 minutes. Great value hotel for a short break in Hong Kong.

« Not What We Expected »

Reasonable price and location. Getting there via MTR with cases is not easy, you need to be fit. Rooms are v, small, not what is expected from Best Western, with only four hooks for clothing [no wardrobe, shelves or drawers]. Still the room was clean and comfortable as were the beds. We ate out, as there are no shortage of decent local eateries. As for the pool, it is closed just about any time that you might want to use it, But then it is primarily a fire services tank.

    3
    « Okay... the pool »

The focus point to choose this hotel is the nice pool on the roof. The rooms are old stile an the moquette is dirty and smelling, but matching with the price point, high but on the average for Hong Kong.

    « Accomodation at Hongkong »

Nice hotel to stay with sea view. The hotel does have all amenities although rooms are bit small. Nearby bay is good for morning walk and sea foods are available in all the street. Transpiration with local taxies is conformable and also bus services.

    « Disappointed »

Staff not helpful. Arrived with 2 elderly and 2 babies, no staff helped us with our luggages to the lobby, which is on the 5th floor. When we got our rooms, first we were shocked by the size. I know this is Hong Kong but even independent hotels have larger, more modern rooms. The room is so tiny and the decor is from the 80s. We got 2 rooms, one of the rooms smelled very strongly of cigarettes. We complaint to the front desk, they sent 2 staff to help open the window and that's it. We said we weren't satisfied and they just told us to call front desk and left. Very poor service. We finally changed one of the rooms but it's just another room of the same size and decor but on another floor. Overall very disappointed. Would not recommend anyone to come here. Lots of other cheaper, more modern and better service hotels around.

    « disapointing »

much older hotel, old in the room, standard Hong Kong small room, there is little space to move around., we have a view on the street. the bed is ok, , can't be sure if it is clean or not because it is old. We did not sleep the whole night because they assigned us a room on the top floor where the main air condition motor system is located. The huge vibration sound rock us the whole night. Bathroom is small , again the shower is a wide open type with curtain drop to the floor.(same level of the bathroom floor ). However there is an advantage for this hotel, the location is at a market place, fruit and restaurant is not a problem, 2 minutes walk to the subway, and there is an airport subway station shuttle minibus stop just cross the street in front of the hotel , but you have to buy the airport subway ticket first from this hotel which is at the regular price per person then you can hop up the minibus with your luggage and go to the airport directly via the airport express subway system.

« Good location, small room »

The hotel is located near by Sai Ying Pun metro station, it is easy to connect with the central station and it close by the harbor. The room was small but clean. I think the size of room is quite normal for an hotel in Hong Kong; . Staff was professionnal. We didn't use the swimming pool but it seems clean and safe.

    « Never Again »

Unlike other i found a mixture of experiences from staff concierge excellent check in and out unfriendly. Couldn't sit on toilet properly as our legs wouldn't fit, difficult to get in and out of shower, hard uncomfortable bed and tiny cochroaches in sink hence made area feel extra dirty. On the plus side great locate but pay a few dollars more and go up the road. Worse Best Western we have ever stayed at!

« Classic small room with great location »

Overall the hotel was great. Check in experience was great and fast. Although you may expect a small room but it is okay for me. Just keep your luggage under your bed to save some space to walk around. Internet was in high speed. The staff were giving me great service during stay. Especially the housekeeping, they put my son's pikachu in order. Haha. So cute. During 1st day check in, the room was quite dusty which caused me to get running nose. But after I informed them to clean the dust for me, the remaining days were just fantastic. 7-eleven just opposite you. MTR station SAI YING PUN A1 existing, turn right and walk around 100m to get this hotel. With the price, you can expect a small room and good location. Try the coffee at the MTR exist...very nice

    « Two weekend stopovers »

This hotel is ideally situated to access this very popular area of Hong Kong - MTR close by - easy to get a taxi etc The staff were very helpful with any queries we had - also good value for the cost. The rooms we had were small and tight - no space for a wardrobe/just hooks on the wall. Weekend no1 was a learning curve - the bed was rock hard and we found it nigh impossible to sit on the toilet with the door shut as we had to hang our legs into the room at 90 degrees as the toilet pan was hard up against the bath ! After that weekend we went off to Vietnam until the following Friday - the hotel stored our extra luggage FOC. On our return I requested some changes - mainly a softer bed and a bathroom where we could access the toilet more easily - no problem they changed our room and added a softer thin mattress on top of the bed and the bathroom had a shower instead of the bath as before - wish I had requested this before !! Both rooms had a fantastic view over the harbour & Kowloom - floor no 26 & 35 - recommended The rooftop pool is very relaxing and clean with a life guard

« Perfect if you have a low budget. »

This is a very standard hotel with standard rooms. It is very cheap (If you are from Sweden) so don't expect too much. The location is very good and not far away from the subway. The pool area at the rooftop is very nice, especially if you have been on e very long hike! We can really recommend this hotel if you're travelling on a budget.

« A good stay near MRT station »

The hotel is a bit off the busy area of hong kong, but near the Sai Ying Pun MTR. I had a superior Queen bed with mountain view. Well, the view is ok, been at 23rd floor. But they got a pool at roof top and a gym, in case u feel guilty after too much dimsum. I got a quite low price. Its not a fancy hotel (for my taste the rooms are a bit too dark) and the superior room isnt that big, but u got the basics. Wifi is free, not fast, enough to keep ur social media updated. For a low price (paid 1200hkd for 3nights) its a good choice.

    « Amazing, highly recommend! »

What a brilliant hotel! My friend and I travelled to Hong Kong for approximately a week and a half in August of 2016. Best Western Harbour View was nothing short of spectacular and completely surprised and outdid our expectations! ? Cannot believe the incredible view, we were able to stay on the top floor & the view was simply incredible! ? The rooftop pool and its views are nothing short of spectacular! ? Multiple lifts for easy access ? Room service (cash only) ? Great location ? Extremely affordable for such a high class place! ? Brilliant air conditioning ? Consistent room-cleaning ? Funny golden lifts (pictured - my friend taking a selfie of us in the reflection on them!) Thank you so much Best Western for the wonderful stay!

« Disappointing - Worst Hotel Ever Stayed In »

Group booking of 13 recently stayed 1 week. Staff extremely rude and unhelpful Worst rooms ever- Mattress very hard, Fridge can hold 2 water bottles only- is at camping fridge Would rate this hotel as a 1 star Very overpriced

    « Not bad hotel »

We stayed here for 3 nights..the room is tiny and also the bathroom..it's so hard to walk around the room but it's oke if you just stay for sleep.WiFi signal is good, channel television mostly is Chinese language so we are not watch the tv when we are in our room.staff mostly can't speak english it's so hard to communicate when we need something.the sky pool is excellent but we don't have time to swim.the breakfast is not bad..they separate pork food so we know what kind food we can eat.Hotel is surrounding by the food places and 711 and 5 minutes walk to nearest stATION 10 minutes walk to tram station

« Acceptable but could do better »

The bathroom - without doubt - needs better drainage to keep the floors dry and - when a company trumpets "We care about the planet" they ought to offer a small/large flush option so that water can be saved. It's only our opinion but the gold mirrored style of reception decoration is rather outdated and more charm could be added to dealings with clients with a less osentatious look? We did not have a harbour view room but our son did and it is surprising how much difference the panorama can enhance a stay in a hotel room.

« Rooms are too small »

The 38 storeyed hotel has 4 lifts but usually the lift operator presses the non stop switch and we had to wait for more than 20 minutes to reach the restaurant at 3 rd floor! Rooms are very small and only hooks provided to hang your clothes. Bathroom is just having enough space for a person to stand. Bed is hard and you can feel the springs thru the mattress.

    1
    « Nightmare »

The hotel looks like it's gone back in time with the 70s disco kind of decor at the ground floor and 5 floor reception. The ground floor staff are quick to tell you not stand here or not to stand there while waiting for our friends or taxi. The rooms are very small. Safe doesn't work. Room just feels dirty aircon is very noisy. Hotel room is very drab and the toilet is so small you can even sit on the toilet bowl properly. The tub also has black marks on it and the non stick mat looks dirty. Bed is hard and you can feel the springs. The lift there are four but somehow it takes very long for the lift to arrive. The room is so depressing and dark that you just want to get out.

« You get what you pay for »

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. We booked a double room with a mountain view. On arrival late at night we found the reception desk to be on the fifth floor. The clerk abruptly informed us that we had a twin room. I protested and said we had booked a double room. He still insisted it was a twin so I showed him my confirmation and he said "internet wrong". He then reluctantly offered to get housekeeping to push the beds together which I assumed would mean they would be zip and linked with a double duvet cover. Not so, housekeeping simply pushed the two beds together which we could have done ourselves. I considered the man on reception to be very rude. The room itself is tiny, There is no wardrobe, you get two sets of hooks on the wall with two coat hangers. No drawer space. The only place to put your suitcase is on the bedroom wide windowsill. Décor was dark and lighting was so bad I had to use my torch on my phone to see the numbers on the phone to call reception. On arrival there was no creamer for tea and coffee and only one coffee sachet. This was rectified on later days. The bathroom is so small you have to sit on the toilet sideways to avoid hitting the bath with your knees and there is no room for the basin, which is in the bedroom. There is a bath but it is not big enough for an adult to bath in. Unless maybe if you're a short size 6. I'm not. Getting out of the shower was tricky due to the lack of space. No spare loo roll provided and no toilet brush. Bed was uncomfortable - felt like you could feel every spring. The pillows smelt of greasy hair. If you're arriving late please note room service is until 9.00 pm only. Breakfast the first day was dire but improved a little the other mornings. I was concerned that the samosas and spring rolls were barely warm. We wanted to bill breakfast to our room but because we had booked and paid in advance for the room, we had to pay daily. We sometimes had to wait a long time for the lift. There are three but they are very small and don't seem to stop when requested. The only good thing I have to say about this hotel is that the housekeeping staff were pleasant and it's very near an MTR station. Although be advised it's about 600 Fitbit steps from the entrance to the tracks. I would say this is a 2 star hotel. We made the best of it but under no circumstances would I recommend it. We got it on a deal and paid under £80 a night but I see they were advertising the walk in rate at 2200 HKD per night (approx. £220 per night). If I had paid that I would have been even more upset. I've added some photos. Hope this is helpful.

    « Average.... »

My actual rating is 2.5/5. I stayed at the hotel for 6 nights. Experience at this hotel would be average at best. I was given a room on the 30th floor after I complained that the initial room was small and dirty. The second room was better, but still had stained walls, carpets and partially exposed pipes with mold situated around it. It was dusty when I first went in and had a strong bleach smell. Elevators do take around 5-15 mins depending on which floor you are on. I advise for visitors to request a room on the higher floors as the elevator will be more spacious when it arrives. The food at the buffet was so-so as well The hotel (more of a motel), meets ones needs in terms of providing one with providing a roof over your head, convenient location to the tmr and a decent view if you are lucky. Check in and check out was fast and the cleaning staff are friendly, but can be heard complaining at times which is unprofessional in my opinion. I would not recommend this hotel as there are better choices at this price point for a one week stay in HK.

« Average Room badly let down by inadequate lift facilities »

I stayed here while passing through HK at beginning and end of a trip and chose the hotel based on location and the cheap deal. Like many budget hotels in HK the room is cramped and lacks a wardrobe and a spacious bathroom. The first room (Floor 12) was very tired looking and extremely small, the second room (26th) was a bit better decorwise, but no room to turn around in the bathroom let alone swing a cat. For a transit stay can put up with these small inconveniences for the price, but the lifts in this hotel are simply not adequate to service the 30+ floors effectively. At best i had a 10 minute wait before a lift door would even open on the floor and closer to 20minutes before could get into the lift as capacity is so small. While staying on the 12th floor i gave up and walked down the fire escape. Service for check in/out was very efficient and concierge staff were also very helpful but i will avoid this hotel in future simply because of the lifts.

    « Great location »

Spent 4nights there mid of october . Rooms are tiny but confortable and convenient. If you are looking for a great location thats the place that you have to book for , the hotel is located at 2min by walk from the MTR station. The staff was really helpful.

« Ok for Hong Kong »

Just came back froma stay in the Best Western. Easy to get there from the airport in you use the free bus link (after the train ride) which will drop you off at the front of the hotel. Lobby is on the 5th floor so just take the lift. Staff were friendly and the hotel very clean.View from the roof is amazing and even though we had mountain view room, it was still great to look at. Buuuttt, lifts are a nightmare. Programming on them is all over the place. Often left waiting 5/6 mins for the lift to come and there are 3 of them.Rooms are tiny, and the smallets ive ever been in. Just walking space around the bed. Booked a double room and got two single beds. Called and they sent a guy up why literally pushed them side by side and left. Breakfast had plenty to offer but completely tasteless. normally not fussy but it was genuinely tasteless. Over all a good hotel and prices were reasonable.

    « Comfortable stay. »

My partner and I stayed 3 nights at the Harbour View on queens in Sai Ying Pun. We got a deal on booking.com and we were very happy with our stay. The rooms are air conditioned, clean and spacious, with a full glass window looking out over Sai Ying Pun. Daily room cleaning also replace towels, coffee, teas etc and there is a laundry service available. (Cheaper hotels in hong kong not far off the same price, have given us shoe boxes with none of these services). The hotel feels quite modern, has its own pool, gym and restaurant. Wifi was very poor in our room. We were only able to get minimal reception if we were standing right next to our door. Lastly the hotel itself is in a neat location. Its just outside of hong kong central right near the station with great variety of restaurants and a great coffee shop. If we came back to hong kong we would be staying there again.

« Comfortable Hotel in heart of city »

We only stayed at this hotel during a 17 hour layover, checked in at noon and out at 9 pm, but it was a god send and worth every cent. To be able to relax in air conditioned comfort when it felt like 41 degrees C outside with the humidity was a blessing. Hotel had a nice restaurant, and a roof top swimming pool. Room medium size but comfortable. Traveled into city from airport by express train, and the fare included free hotel shuttle which stopped across road from hotel, so very convenient in both directions. Note, reception is on Level 5.

    « Wish I hadn't stayed here »

I'm reviewing This place and I haven't even spent 1 night here yet. Going by the last reviewer I would echo his thoughts exactly. I wish I had spent extra £50 & gone for hotel that looked better & in a better part of Hong Kong. Some pointers: 1) Area hotel is in doesn't look very nice. 2) The reception is on the fifth floor but no signs to say this 3) not any real security for side entrance at lift area. This side door is on a Main Street but not near security booth. 4) This hotel is not even what I would call a 3 star by UK standards but as I keep on getting told HK standards for hotels is a lot different than UK 5) wi-Fi is free but I had to ask for password as reception as they were not forthcoming with it 6) upon entering the room 2 moths were keeping me company 7) wi-Fi doesn't work particularly well & when phone reception about this they say turn devices on & off as this may help. They then advise that they will get someone to deal with this but then no one appears 8) rooms are small with sink outside in corridor & a new bar of soap that crumbles when taken out of pocket - who puts a sink In a corridor with no where to hang the towels 9) decor is shocking & room needs a good paint, new wallpaper & curtains as parts of painted wall chipped with scrapes of where paint came off. Some part of wallpaper coming away 10) my sheets had marks & what looks white marks. 11) ceiling tiles in bathroom were slightly ajar but I managed to push back in 12) beds are rock solid & if you're over 6 foot then you're too big for bed 13) I got 2 room with 2 single beds as no other Rooms available 14) they asked me for deposit of $500 HK. When I asked what it was for they said in case I use minibar etc. reception then said it can take up to 2 weeks to come off their system. I said that's nonsense & wanted my details sced once I checked out but again said they wouldn't. Eventually agreed to take minbar out as I didn't want my card details on their system for 2 weeks 15) room walls thin as can hear other people on other rooms especially when they go to toilet Overall so far not a good place

« Old facilities, tiny room, its only worth with 50% discount »

Pros: 1. The buffer is quite good with a variety of choice. 2. The checkin and checkout process is fast. 3. The hotel staff is fast enough to deliver our difficulties to the right parties. Cons: 1.The facilities is quite old. The shower head is broken when the water flushes in. 2. Rude cleaning maid. shouting at the customers and ringing your door bell randomly. 3. Tiny room and toilet. The toilet is not even big enough to put the toilet paper beside you but only right behind you. You cant even move in the bathroom. 4. The reception area is so small. 5. The lift is so small.

« Great rate for a nice place »

I got in to this hotel very late after traveling all day. I loved how close it was to the metro. I checked in and promptly fell asleep. The breakfast bufet was included in my room rate and it was tasty. I checked out at 10 and was able to leave my bag he concierge until after 6PM The bed could have been a little more plush but iother then that it was a nice place to sleep. I did not get a chance to check out the pool. It was not open when I was in the hotel.

    « MY MISTAKE »

Actually, my mistakes, for I made two of them !! no. 1) to be stingy, and opt for an economic hotel; no. 2) to rely on the booking done by the travel agent, without prior checking the hotel's rating. Granted: the price was low, but so was the quality of my stay (5 nights). My list of deficiencies is a long one: a) bring your own hangers, for there is none in the room. Actually there is not a closet, or a drawer, just a couple of hooks in the wall. Looking at the bright side of it, ...no need to unpack. But I was not in the mood of looking at the bright side. b) since you are at it, also bring your toiletries: those provided are of very low quality. c) WI-FI: free but erratic. I lost count of how many times I logged in. Twice I had to call housekeeping, for the signal had long gone and would not come back. d) at the window there is just one heavy curtain: when you close it (otherwise he people living on the facing building see you) it it gets dark and you have to turn the light on (even at midday). e) lighting: very dim !! It took me back 40 years, to the eastern european hotels of the soviet bloc. f) 3 elevators (not air conditioned) to serve 38 floors (over 400 rooms) are a recipe for long frustrating waits (even 15 minutes at 08:30, peak breakfast time). g) six TV channels, mostly in cantonese/mandarin. h) frugal breakfast buffet, not enticing from an hygiene point of view. i) the telephone had an echo so loud that I could not complete the call. l) the MTR station is 5 minutes walk away, but once underground you have some 700/800 meters walk before you actually reach the tracks. m) on the final morning, I woke up scratching: I had a bug in my bed. I probably will see the dermatologist because, after almost 3 weeks, the itching is still there. So, all in all, an EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING stay. I noticed a sign at the reception stating that the hotel is independently owned and operated, an elegant way on the part of Best Western to distances themselves from any customers' complains. Upon check out, I refused to pay 5HK$ for the phone call, as I had been unable to complete it. The guy at the reception agreed to waive the charge. I also told him to have the room/bed fumigated, for I had been bitten by some insect: he took note. Last week I got my credit card statement and ...there it is....a charge of 5 HK$ !!. With an e-mail to the customer service I requested the charge to be reversed (a matter of principle). They have not yet answered me, nor see I a reversal by the card company. So, to top it all, ....lousy customer service. At least I hope they fumigated the room (it was no.1908).

Looks very good in reception area but that where it stops the rooms are very small and beds very hard to sleep on the gentlemen on the reception desk at night needs to go on a politeness course. Best person we met was the nice lady who maid up the rooms she help us and did a very good job cleaning are room. Swimming pool on the roof was good plus the he location of hotel is very good

The hotel, room and pool were very clean, we found our room back in perfect state when we came back in the evening. Service was good. Overall a very pleasant experience for a very good price. The skypool was a pleasant plus. It is situated perfectly. I would def book it again.

« Harbour Glimpses and Shoebox sized Room »

We stayed for a week and had nowhere to open our suitcases except our bed - which was two singles pushed together with separate bedding, so we stored our suitcases under the bed. Two hooks were supplied to hang our clothing but not even a drawer to put other clothes. Location is good if you want the cheaper end of town. We chose the hotel because it was near our son's apartment in the 'dried fish shop' district. Close to MTR rail station and one block from trams on Des Voeux Rd. West which are cheap and cheerful. Also a free bus runs past the hotel which drops off at Hong Kong Station where you can checkin your luggage for your flight. We had a buffet breakfast included which got pretty boring by the end of the week as there was no variety in what was offered. Housekeeping changed the towels daily and gave us two small bottles of water a day. Beds were made only every 2nd or 3rd day. We had one small bar of soap to last the week, although I suppose we could have asked for more if we had wanted it and a small shampoo and bodywash were also on offer. There was a dry drain smell in the bathroom which was almost overpowering and when I asked housekeeping to poor some bleach down it, the problem was solved by stuffing wet toilet paper into the drain in the bathroom floor. This worked to a degree but needed to be re-wet from time to time. Rooftop swimming pool was open from 11.00am to 8.00pm so you could get a good view from the roof. If the room facilities and size are not important then it is worth staying there for the reasonable cost. We paid AUD100 a night including breakfast.

    « extremely disappointed »

Hotel room and bathroom are way smaller then advertised, stafff is very rude and elevator takes 20 minutes before it stops at the floor, no air conditioning in the elevatiors. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone

    « Reasonable Price »

Hotel with swimming pool & gym facilities. Value of money, it worth.... Free internet access & speed very fast. Location very good, 1-2 mins walking distance to MTR station. Staff are friendly & helpful. Light in room, slightly dark, not good for reading. Quality of toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste & shower cap), to be improve, or it will be perfect. Having a wonderful stay, will choose this hotel again for the next visit.

    « Location, location, location.. »

The three stars that we have given this hotel is purely because of the ideal location this hotel is in. It is a nice 15 minute stroll to Soho, the hotel itself is located in one of the most central locations possible in HK. Apart from that we were not impressed. We were staying here in the first few days of our honeymoon. The hotelcrew (especially the reception) is not friendly, the rooms are tiny (not build on Dutch people), and the beds are hard as rocks. Not a bad hotel if you can get in here cheap, but we found it (very) overpriced.

    « Good Value & Locations »

I stayed here for 4 nights. The price was good for the location and quality of the hotel. The room was clean and tidy and staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing is the rooms are very small, But I hear that is normal in Hong Kong!

« How can you mess up cornflakes? »

Pros: Good location; Cheap cab fare to central (about 30-45 HKD) although most cabs will not take you there in peak hour traffic. It is even cheaper from Central to hotel since you can take Queens Road all the way. The subway stop is a long walk underground but you can generally get to Central within 20 minutes. I walked to Central a few times and that took around 35-45 minutes depending on pace and destination within Central. Plenty of services available close by; If you dont mind walking a few minutes you can save some dollars by taking your laundry to a shop closeby. I was charged 35 HKD for a few kilos washed and dried. There is a 7 eleven and other mini marts across the road. McDonalds is within 50 meters if thats your thing. Harbour View; I was on the 30th floor, it is a good view. Cons: Small rooms; You adapt.. but yes it was worse than any hotel I stayed in Japan. Ask for a room without a bathtub, they are pointless because they are too small to bathe in and you end up hitting your legs against the bathtub when you sit on the toilet. I had friends staying in another room without a bathtub and there was alot more room to manoeuvre. Because of the room size, You can hear the people next door to you, cleaners in the hallway and sometimes people in the rooms across the hall. Crowded elevator; During peak times the elevators are packed, my girlfriend and I once waited 10 minutes (no joke) on our floor whilst trying to get to breakfast on the 3rd floor. These are the worst elevators I have ever experienced in a hotel. It doesn't help when people are trying to pack into the elevator before you have exited, or press both the up and down buttons no matter which way they are going, but pushing in and not giving thought to others is Hong Kong culture and not a problem with the elevators themselves. Having said this, my GF thinks the elevators are not that bad, we agree to disagree on this matter. Breakfast is terrible; If you get a room, don't bother with breakfast.. just don't. The scrambled eggs are cooked with alot of oil leaving a more oily taste than egg taste in your mouth. The processed meat section will be left out until the Frankfurts pop open or until the spam is curled up like a dried leaf. The Coffee is cheap and nasty. The fruit was OK but limited. And then we get to the cornflakes... Stale.. It was like they were poured into the serving bowl the day before and left there. I was paying close to 1000 HKD per night and I expected more from this hotel but this may be the normal experience from a hotel that costs the same.

« The worst 4 star hotel I've ever stayed »

Spent 4 nights at this hotel and I still couldn't believe this is a 4 star hotel. I am not complaining their service or what, just that I can't believe there's a hotel bathroom smaller than Japan's!! But this hotel really do...... From the moment I entered the room, I was like, "OMG, the sink even not inside the bathroom, how small can it be!!". Aside from its disappointing bathroom, their front desk service barely met my expectation, but I do appreciate the attitude of their housekeeper. Also, try to ask for a high floor room since their elevator is very demanding. I was staying at 35/F and almost every time the elevator is full before it reaches 20/F...... Anyway, their location really good, you can easily access public transport like MTR, bus and tram.

    « Great Stay »

Overall this hotel is good for the price and location. You have to face it, the rooms in any HK hotel are relatively small in comparison to western hotel rooms. Immediately as we arrived the staff helped us with our luggage and guided us to check in, they were very pleasant. The room had an awesome view of the harbour and was in good order. It was very clean and not dated. The A/C was very effective. This hotel is a two minute walk from the MTR station Sai Ying Pun A1 which makes it very easy to get to the different districts in HK. The hotel also provides a $10 CAD breakfast buffet with a decent selection and good coffee. Unlike other hotels in HK, this one does not offer the free handy smartphone to use throughout the city for wifi and google maps. Also it seemed there was quite a wait for the elevators in the AM. These were its only downfall in my eyes. But otherwise great hotel and stay!!

« not clean or healthy »

the room and hotel very old run down.toilet and shower area filthy. the room itself no better drinks splashed over the wall and sink in the room had brown filth marks around it. The air con units around the hotel where dripping water above our heads not very healthy. when we reported these maters to reception they didn't care they had no other rooms to offers us and they'd got our money no refund available. after sales at the best western head office where no help at all there response was really they dont care they have or money

« TINY rooms, staff not friendly, location decent »

The photos do NOT show how ridiculously tiny the rooms are. I got a double bed, harbour view room, and it was smaller than interior cabins I have had on every cruise ship I have ever been on. The rooms were ridiculously tiny. No closet, just two hooks on the wall. No table, just a fold-down wall shelf. I had to move all the stuff out of the corner shelves and bedside tables, to put out things from my suitcase. I stored the suitcase under the bed. It was awful. The harbour view was only visible between the buildings. The rooftop pool was so uncomfortable. There are no umbrellas or shade, in Hong Kong, in the summer. We could only stay for 30 minutes before leaving because it was so uncomfortable and hot and we didn't want to get sun burned. The staff was never nice or friendly upon check-in, or when asking any questions. We witnessed another customer receiving rude service from the security staff in the elevators. The staff wasn't rude to us, but nobody was friendly or nice. Nobody smiled or said hello in passing. The elevators are also ridiculous. They are so small, we had to wait for three elevators to pass, to get one that wasn't full already with a couple people and some luggage. One time we took the service elevator since we were waiting for so long. The location is decent - very close to the MTR and we were able to get around to everywhere we wanted to go on HK island, Lantau island, and Kowloon. Other than the location though, I wouldn't recommend this place.

    « Not exciting! »

I booked the Best Western taking into account their brand name..and I was extremely disappointed at how tiny their rooms were! No wardrobe...no space to put in the luggage...felt extremely congested. Breakfast is another let down...same dishes everyday..the only and I mean only plus point is the quick access to the San Ying Pun MTR station. that was the only consolation. But otherwise I will not recommend this hotel to anyone at all!

    « Health hazard »

We stayed here as part of our honey moon trip to Hong Kong and China the first four nights we could only have a mountain view twin room on our final night we changed to a harbour view room. Our first room was the main problem it was not clean the toilet was dirty and the shower had grout missing and the plug hole was unclean and unhygienic. The room had stains on the walls and the bed was very uncomfortable . Our major concern was the air conditioning units they were dripping water everywhere the lift air conditioning was spraying water out and mouldy pours had appeared the corridor outside our room had the same problem as did the one on the 38th floor at the pool. This is very dangerous and a serious concern to health and safety the hotel could not move our room as they were full at this time in the type of room we had booked unless we were willing to pay more money to upgrade which we did not see why we should when it was no fault of our own that the room was dirty and the bed uncomfortable . We complained on returning to the United Kingdom to the best western and they offered us a free upgrade and breakfast next time we go to Hong Kong ( since this was our wedding and honeymoon and a once in a life time trip we are not likely to return to Hong Kong to take up this offer ) we asked if they could offer is an alternative good will gesture but they said the could not . There are better options available for the same money . The roof top pool was a nice bonus and the location was good and convenient the concierge staff were very helpful and courteous but that is the only positive I could find.

when i went to HK, this hotel is one of my few choices but i choose this hotel because of the view.. the room is not really large and its twisted that only 2 min from MTR.. and i have to say the breakfast isnt good at all

    « Disappointing »

I was very positive when I saw the entrance and the lobby- looked very nice. I decided to upgrade my room and breakfast was included in the upgrade. Stay away from the breakfast (!!), worst hotel breakfast I have ever had. The room was tiny (even after the upgrade) and it was not clean. Dark hairs everywhere and it was absolutely filthy at some places. Other than that the hotel is pretty close to the MTR, which is a plus, and as I mentioned the lobby is nice. I am definitely not coming back.

« Nice Place for Stay »

It's just 2 min. far from MTR and there is very good swimming pool but worst situation is evening time upto 8 PM. Yes Household service is really nice, convenient and fast. About Room is smaller compare to our Indian Hotel but it's enough for stay. Yes Atmosphere and surrounding view from my room is really nice. overall, I love this place.

    « Nice & Cozy Hotel to stay......Great Value for Money ! »

It is just 5 minutes away from MTR - Sai Ying Pun from where one can zoom across the length and breadth of Hong Kong. Rooms are small but then it is Hong Kong......one of the most expensive real estate place. The bed is soft & cozy, but the bathroom is too small - the wash basin is outside ! The check-in formalities are minimum and we had a fantastic room on the 35th floor overlooking the Victoria Harbour. The swimming Pool is on the 38th floor and it gives a 360 degrees view of Hong Kong and is particularly fascinating in the evening. However, the breakfast is not up to the standard, and the same dishes are repeated. ( we stayed for five ( 5 ) days ). The hotel is otherwise neat and clean and the service is prompt. Surely, Great Value for Money !

    « Great location »

The space is less but it's normal in HK. Lots of restaurants close by. Metro is walking distance. Clean. Every day a lady came to clean. Breakfast is expensive. But try local restaurants. Reception is not very friendly. Value for money. Bathroom is very small.

    « Price friendly & convenient? »

Near Sai Ying Pun MTR station, up to 5 minutes walk from it. Check-in service was fast. A bit pity for the double bed room as requested. The room service only pull two beds together instead of one double bed. The room lighting was a bit dim. A great pool at the top level of hotel was awesome with great view.

« good value for money, nice view at the harbour »

Subway is nearby which is convenient, they offer nice view at the harbour, bed is good size, however room is small but it's standard in hong kong so no surprises. Its's quite away from main attractions though. Great pool at the top with awesome view!

« Good hotel for short stay »

I and my husband stayed here for a night in June 2016. The hotel at walking distance from the Sai Ying Pun MTR station and is easily reachable from the airport by bus as well. The rooms and bathroom are clean but tiny. There was barely any place for even two people to freely walk around in the room. But the hotel is easily accessible and reasonably priced, hence good for short stays if you are traveling alone or with a partner. The rooms will be a little too cramped for a family with kids or a larger group. We didn't eat in the hotel as there are lot of eateries, bakeries and supermarkets just outside the hotel. The eateries around are cheap and gave us a taste of the local cuisine. There is swimming pool on the 35th floor but unfortunately we did not get a chance to visit it.

    2
« Not my kind of hotel »

Location is very handy, near Sai Ying Pun MTR, but the condition of the hotel is poor eventhough it is quite new. The service is average, poor management of elevators, small elevator and we had to wait long just to go down.

    2
    « Totally negative »

Pros The hotel is very close to metro station Cons The non smoking room strong smell of smoke. Room changed. The size of the room was exactly as large as the small queen bed and little longer, could not fit the extra bed. We got something better after complaints when we were given a disabled room that could fit the additional third bed (paid as extra). The harbour view is only partial and obstructed from other high buildings around. The views might be acceptable only on higher floors (38 in total). 38th floor is hosting the roof swimming pool (small). The third person breakfast (6yo kid) was not included in the rate, and this was not clearly mentioned in the reservation from booking.com and they immediately put the blame on Booking. Dirty room. The presence of long dark hair of others previous guests of the room continuously appearing from the carpets. No wardrobe, no drawers. No space for the luggage. The mattress of the queen bed was spring and some of them were hurting during the night. The third portable bed was 60 cm wide and the spring mattress was so warn that could not fit an adult. The missing towels and shower soap for the third bed (paid as extra) 3 of 4 nighs. Extremely slow and crowded elevators. The breakfast is really basic.

Location : very near to MTR Sai Yin Pun.. only 2 min walking. From the airport by bus youbjusy have to walk about 10min to reach the hotel frm the bus stop. In front of hotel you may find 7eleven , McD, 2 chinese restaurants, vegetarian resto also avail. Price comparison : worthed. Because the room is a bit spavey compare to other hotels. Weakness : weak wifi connection, less option for hawker food

The concierge was exceptionally helpful in advising on airport transportation, taxis, where to go, and looking after luggage. The harbor view was there, but a bit limited. As with Hong Kong hotels, the room was small. There was no light above the sink, but the rest of the room had ample lighting. Our room was very quiet.

« If get this hotel for US$40/night, superb value »

Having lived in Hong Kong (Sai Ying Pun area) for a year, I jumped on this deal for US$40/night (including taxes) when I saw it on Priceline because of the area, which is still quite central and close to the new MTR station. For this range of price, the small roomsize, 3-4 minute wait for the elevator, very very faint smell of smoke and mildew (I have a strong nose), overcrowded pool with drunk Western tourists, tacky gold and so forth are all bearable and fine. Everything was clean and tidy enough. The harbour view room on the 20th was quite nice as you could actually see the water, and the hotel staff were pleasant. If you're also able to secure this price-range, you'd be hard pressed to find something better without paying much more, since this hotel is a great value.

    « 1 to 2 stars NOT A 3 STAR HOTEL ----- STAY ELSEWHERE in Sheung Wan !!! »

Hotel is your typical run down 1 to 2 star of this low level chain from America. Think Motel 6 or Super 8 and add 1/2 of a star. This hotel does not even compare to the 3 star hotels in Sheung Wan. Slow elevator service and they smell as the air conditioning/ventilation in 2 of 3 of the elevators were not working properly. Small rooms cramped for even one lithe 5'7" 160 pound male. Nowhere to even do basic exercises except on your bed......no desk in room; your bed is your chair! Rooms are fine for young people under 22 or individuals under 5'4" Rooms look decorated and furnished back to the 1970's. View gaudy chandelier in room right above your bed and cheap decorations right out of a 1 to 2 star budget hotel Nice view on upper harborview room. 2 star subpar breakfast buffett you are better off eating outside at McDonald's or Cafe de Coral close by. Any couple or 2 or more persons should seriously consider Ibis Sheung Wan, Butterfly on Waterfront or Island Pacific Hotel all nearby....these 3 hotels are much nicer at the same cost or $20 usd extra a night. Don't let this cheap subpar hotel hotel ruin your vacation...just look at this hotels so called fitness center. Stay somewhere else in Sheung Wan and truly enjoy your vacation!

Good location , near MTR Sai Yin Pun station 5 min walk Quite small like other hotel room in HK. Hot-cold shower, hair dryer. Swimming pool at the roof The hotel provided things like soap, comb, toothbrush, shave, slipper, tea, 2 bottom of water, tissue Overall, it's ok.

« Small but Near to Subway station »

The room is super duper small with 2 single beds. Even the sink is put outside of the toilet. We got the rooms that facing mountains and those old buildings. The so call Harbour View is charged at an Extra costs. We have stayed in Best Western in Europe and here is nothing like that. So its a bit dissapointed. So please dont compare it to the one in Europe. Anyways, the locations of the hotel is near to the subway stations. Just a few minutes walk. Other than that, nothing much around the hotel areas. The concierge staff is very friendly and can speak english very well. We asked for directions and they explained it in details.

big size of people hardly to fit in this hotel standard room. the toilet is small and still built in a bathtub. they should change to shower instead of bathtub. the lights are not so bright and quite dim in the room even we switch on all the lights. theu should change the bulb instead.

« Great Location - management of the lifts (elevators) need review! »

Great Location - is one of the hotels that you can get a free shuttle from the airport express railway station - a real bonus after a long flight. Short walk to the MTR and trams - mind you what isn't? Plenty of restaurants close by to choose from including a McD's. Pandas Laundry service is across the road - fast and cheap. Room was a bit small but very well priced. You will need to put your suitcases under the bed (bed has been designed for this very purpose) Very clean with excellent room cleaning service you could set your watch by. Our room had a nice harbour view. Breakfast buffet at $60HKG was okay. Concierges on the ground floor were extremely knowledgeable and were quick with maps and clear instructions. The only let down was the lifts (elevators). A building of this size with 4 lifts should not have their guests waiting for so long. This aspect is a major flaw in an otherwise great establishment. This problem will make me think about staying here again. If it was fixed I would reconsider.

« New and update but room is tiny »

Convenient located near MTR station. Modern and we'll maintained. I haven't used their restaurant so no comment there. The swimming pool is at the top of building where you can have a great view of the Victoria Harbour. The interior of the hotel, hallway and the room is clean. The room, however, is tiny. No table, no closet. Limited room to put luggage. The lighting is insufficient. Internet was slow and unstable. The price is very competitive but that isn't enough to go back there again.

« Average hotel in HK »

BestWesternHarbourView We were looking for a hotel in HongKong for a stop-over. The first thing we noticed was the price(expensive) and the size(small). We found a hotel for a reasonable price, around €75, with a harbour view and a swimmingpool on the top-floor. The check-in went fast, though a bit hurried. I guess the desk-lady wasnt patient and wanted to rush things up. The rooms were, as expected, small but had everything you needed. The view was good at the top-floor, in our room it was ok if you tilted your head to look passing other buildings. Breakfast was sufficient, it was the minimum but you could eat enough. It is not something I would recommand to the beloved readers of this review. There are enough things to do in the surroundings but its not a very inviting city. Chinese people lack in English or they werent willing to spreak it to me. The city is also quite expensive, almost the same prices as in Europe except perhaps Chinese food and electronics. The hotel is good if you have minimum requierments, for a longer stay its not recommendable.

close to Tram, Airport Express, MRT. The room is big and value for money $50 per night. The wifi is bad, bed is not long but free 2 bottles of water. The room is equipped with every things: hair drayer, small fridge, razor, shower cap,...etc.

« New, decent location, but SO small and uncomfortable...but a sale trick... it was ut a foot in buti cn bet »

This is one of the most densely populated cities in the world. But i did not expect SUCH a small room... the bed so small that my feet were sticking out and also the bed didnt have a top ttress which made it super uncomfortable with the springsbitinginto ones backor face. There was also no room for clothes or luggage. So our bags became HUGE in that little room onthe little space between the end of the bed and the wall with the tv. But the biggest negatie was the smell coming from the drainagein the bathroom / toilet... it stank totally... i thought the roommay not have beenusedfor a while but no... it didnt go away.. we got the room service to spray some ndustrial strength stink remover but still after a short while itwas back... add to that, there were not many pkaces to hang wet towels but in the most stinky area of the little room... you can imagine my disgust... swimming pool on top was also nothing but a sales trick, a photo opportunity... no shade to hide under at all... the water wasnt circulating either; which means it was not getting filtered so we didnt put a foot in,but i can bet it ws warm as hell... The rooms are the same size but the price changes with the view you get... i chose the best; the harbor view... but i also chose the non smoking room so we were on the 23rd floor and guess what... we had the view of th buildings between us and the harbour... they said the upper, smoking floors had the view in the photos... only reason for the 3 stars insteadof 5 was the price.. which was the best i found at the time of booking in respect to location and clean looking rooms... will i gothere again... nope... there are others n the same price range... just booklonger in advance and read the reviews well. Peace from Hanoi and a perfect hotel room :)

« Great place to stay! »

The hotel is in a good location and very close to the Sai Ying Pun MTR station, just look for the correct exit in the station. We booked the room through Agoda at a very good rate....needless to say we didn't get a Harbour view room. Ours was listed as a mountain view but we didn't get much of that either with all the high rises, but that's not really an issue as we didn't spend much time in the room. The room is quite small but clean and comfy. No clothes hanging space or facilities. The bathroom is also small but clean and hot water and good shower. They have a lovely roof top pool, we didn't get to use it but others were enjoying it. Even if you don't intend to swim go up there for the view! The check in staff do their job and that's it so don't go expecting any assistance from them. We would recommend the hotel and also stay again.

« Handy to train station »

Stay here not so much for comfort but convenience. Low-end hotel rates mean the usual HK small rooms and hard mattresses. Sai Ying Pun train station is less than 5 mins walk away. Cafe restaurant is well-priced and food quality is good value. Housekeeping very quick to respond to requests. Mould problem in first bathroom. Long wait for lifts. Pool on 38th floor is a plus. Good Aussie coffee shop, Winstons, very near by.

« Small rooms and beds but a very nice view from the pool on the rooftop »

The beds are not that great if you're taller than 180 cm; Rooms for 2 persons are just big enough for 1, so things will get cozy; There are a few elevators but getting one is like a lottery draw Located centrally in the old part of town, subway on walking distance. Great view from the pool on the roof.

    4
« Very nice hotel with great hotel staff ! »

This hotel was in the perfect location ! Near to the train station as well ! The only thing I can complain about was the beds, a little bit uncomfortable but overall it's a good place to stay in! I recommend it ! What else can I say, the cleaning lady was an angel that always came with fresh towels and always cleaned the room very thorough and she always came back to clean our room later if we decided to sleep more !

    « XXXS »

I have been travelling for over 10 months and this hotel has the smallest room I have been in by a long shot- we were expecting this due to it being in Hong Kong and the price that we paid. We had a harbour view room which made the size more bare able. We were lucky as we only had small luggage- I don't know what people do if they have large bags. The bathroom had a toilet and bath in although you couldn't actually use the bath as it was so small and you had to sit sideways on the toilet as there was not enough space in front for your legs. The room was nicely decorated but the bed was so so uncomfortable you could feel all of the springs- the first night it took me forever to get to sleep because I was so uncomfortable. I informed reception and they got housekeeping to bring some sheets to top the mattress with- this helped slightly but after 5 nights I was so glad to be leaving. The lifts were also a complete joke- we were on the 29th floor and it took forever to get up and down. I also booked because they say there is a gym- there is a room with 3 machines in it but it is not a gym- and the running machine doesn't work. Overall we did actually enjoy our stay the location is great and the pool is an amazing bonus after a day out sightseeing. If they were able to upgrade the mattresses so we could have a comfortable nights sleep then I would consider staying here again for the price we paid.

    « A horrible experience »

There were cockroaches crawling everywhere inside the room. The bathroom was so small that the vanity top was missing. I had to go outside the bathroom for cleaning. The bathtub had never been cleaned properly and there were mould stains around the tub. The room was very small that desk and chairs could not be found. The staff was not friendly at all especially the one greeting us after normal business hours. Elevators were always full with passengers during the daytime because of their small size. I am absolutely disappointed with this hotel and yet I had to pay an average rate of more than US$130 daily.

Very crowded, of course, but reflects in being "processed" and assigned a room. Room not very nice; old and bathroom door would not close. Also noticed, upon check out, another process, that I my reservation was for a "Mountain View" room, and I was put in a "City VIew" room as the receptionist called it. Guess is why I could not even open the dark out curtains due to staring into someones condo in all surrounding directions. Best avoid.

    « Not the 4-star you'd expect »

More likely 2-stars. Room ridiculously tiny. Better off at an Ibis Hotel if hotel rates are comparable. Shower needs refurbishing. Checked in after 10 pm. Front desk not friendly and not very knowledgeable about AAA memberships either. Kept us waiting for a long time despite us being really tired.

    « A Hotel best avoided. »

I booked this hotel on the basis of a previous stay at another Best Western property in Hong Kong. What a mistake. This Hotel charged slightly more yet the standard was terrible. Booked a non-smoking room which was allocated to me but it stank of cigarette smoke. While the actual smoking in a room maybe out of the Hotels control a reasonable person would expect the cleaning staff to alert management to the fact before the room was reallocated. Some Hotels (quite rightly) charge guests for cleaning a non-smoking room when they have smoked in it. Had I accepted the room would they then have attempted to charge me also? This is certainly suspicious and open to abuse by the Hotel. Entering the room, hand basin is in the entranceway. The bathroom is so small you must sit sideways on the toilet with your feet in the entranceway to the room. There is a bath mat supplied but had no idea why, you could only use it as a 'Welcome' mat at the entrance door. There is NO floor space to put in the bathroom. The shower is above the bath. The shower head had fallen off the wall so need to be able to hold it with one hand during your shower. The bath is excellent provided you are only about 70cm tall otherwise just forget it. No space anywhere for even the smallest of bags. No chair to sit on, no desk/table suitable for even the smallest of laptops. The internet worked but that is it! It was very very slow. A thoroughly unpleasant experience.

« Very Convenient One Minute From Subway Station »

Booked under flexible rate but failed to notice last day for cancellation even later on non refundable rate is cheaper. Arrived around 10 am and reception allow me to check in which I can leave my baggage and freshen up before heading out. Evening the fire alarm was triggered and staff came up to inspect it, internet stopped working and I called front desk they said is working after called them in half an hour they said some technical problem will try to fix it. Waited for another half an hour called them and told them even internet is back up no need to call me since I went to bed. Room is small but my room has queen size bed which is rare in Hong Kong, lots of eatery near by. Will come back again.

« Good value, and above all, clean. »

Having recently been to Hong Kong, and foolishly letting a friend book the hotel, I was a little perturbed when I read some of the reviews ! However, I needn't have worried. Yes, the rooms are small, but in a city where space is a premium,Mehta do you want for £40 a night ? (We took the deluxe harbour view) First morning, we had the buffet breakfast and although OK, we didn't do it again. The rooms are spotless, checkin efficient, taxis plenty (to the airport it's about $320 HKD, or £30 and takes 40-50 minutes, the location is great too. I'd recommend pre booking the Big Bus Tour online, we paid about £40 for 2 days and that includes unlimited bus stops (hop on and off all over the main hot spots), unlimited Star Ferry crossing to Kowloon etc, a harbour boat trip, free entry to the maritime museum, free Victoria Peak tram ride and a few other bits, to book on the day is about £35 for 1 day. All in all, I'd stay here again, although my wife prefers more comfort, I was fine with it. Slept well, shower was good, and minimal noise so you can do worse. Any questions, just ask.

« Small but clean & good location »

Room and the bathroom were small but clean. We had 2 huge luggages so I was not very comfortable. Breakfast was mix of europian & asian foods. The best of is the view and the swimming pool! Quality of the hotel is proportionable the price.

    « mixed experience »

Overall, my experience was mixed with this hotel. Full disclosure I have diamond status with best western and might have been treated differently from a standard guest. For its location the price for this hotel is phenomenal. I think I paid around $40 a night, for a queen, high level room, with a harbor view. Yes, the room was not large but it was more than adequate for a single, six foot male. In addition I found the bed to be firm and somewhat comfortable (I could definitely feel some springs after walking around hong kong all day). The room was clean, well furnished, and well kept. The pool on the roof was wonderful when it was open, (the hours were rather restrictive) and I had a great time relaxing on the pool chairs. I thought the location was amazing. There was plenty to do within walking distance, (if you are a foodie walk up to high street and enjoy all the amazing (western) restaurants there. Now for the negatives. The website says that there is a free airport shuttle, THERE IS NOT. There is a shuttle to the subway which has a direct line to the airport but its not what is advertised. This isn't that big a deal, however I walked around the hong kong airport for about 30 minutes trying to find the hotel shuttle before I found this out (after my 13 hour flight). Also, I highly advise that anyone staying here to skip the breakfast buffet. It consisted of very low quality ingredients and was not worth the price. Finally, do not expect an early check in, I asked (somewhat douchely mentioning my diamond status) and was told no. Not a big deal be advised if you plan on arriving early. Overall , I would probably rate this a 7/10.

« One of the best budget hotel in Hong Kong »

Near hawker food, MTR Station and ding ding Tram make this hotel good for long stay. Little bit far from causeway bay and mongkok but we can reach swiftly with MTR as the station is near hotel. I'm very recomended this hotel for long stay budget tourists..

    « Good View »

We've stayed here for 2 nights. The room's small but the view is fantastic. We had our arvo tea while enjoying the view. It was amazing. The location is very convenient, there's 7/11 in-front of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is also a hit. They also offer free shuttle service.

    4
    « Location! »

This hotel is all about location. On the MTR, and a free airport express bus across the road. Staff friendly and helpful and eager to assist. Plenty to eat around the hotel, especially in the Hong Kong canteens. Typical Hong Kong sized rooms though.

« Do not try to have breakfast in this hotel if you do not include it on your reservation »

I'm staying in this hotel now. I was rejected to have breakfast in 3rd floor by the hotel guy because I was not informed before. I visited this hotel several time for business trip. Normally I have meeting in the morning. So I do not include the breakfast, but if the meeting is canceled, then I have breakfast in Hotel and pay when I check out. But, this time, it is rejected by that Guy because I did not deposit the money. well... if somebody told me before this... I will make deposit. But nobody informed me before and I was yelled to go out from the CAFE. all people around me listen his voice and he was so rude and I feel that I become a thief... Well.. He is young, and I believe he cannot speak english very well. But, the attitude should be more polite. I'm not just person who are passing the hotel. I'm a guest of hotel. I told him my room number, my name and I signed at the bill, but it doesn't work. If you are the first visitor of this hotel, you better ask to hotel what you are available to do and what you are not available. If you do not it, you will be treated as thief. however, the other staffs are very kind and friendly and excellent. I do not want that he recieve bad influence from my word, but hotel should knows why the guest are upset. If he say more polite, if he say in low voice, if he respect me as the guest, I will not write this review. Please refer my review, do not handle the other guest like me, so they can leave with good impression and they can stay again. I'm now sitting the Cafe after paying, but I cannot have food but just drink a cup of coffee.. who can compensate me that I lost my lovely breakfast time in the morning. ... :(

« Awesome location, near mtr and convenience store »

I dunno why people are complaining. This hotel is amazing ?? Location: Near MTR, 7eleven, mcdonalds, local restaurants and convenience store. Elevator: There's only 2 lift, but the waiting isn't really that long. Room: Got deluxe room at 32nd floor, amazing harbour view. Smells good and got fast wifi. Standard room size, we can still move around even with 2 hand-carry luggages. Bathroom is a bit small though and no closet but that's ok.

    « Best western »

I stayed 2 nights at this hotel. The view is quite good hotel, tall buildings and victoria harbour. The rooms are quite cramped, difficult to walk in the room for two people with a lot of luggage. The breakfast is quite good. Near the hotel there are 7-eleven and McD. Good hotel over all.

« Honestly, for the price we paid it was a wonderful hotel. »

Obviously arrived Jetlagged, thankfully the check in staff were welcoming and quickly got us settled into our room which we had asked for a harbour view. WIFI was excellent, shower and bathroom fully functional and clean, tea and coffee facilities as you might expect, no problem at all. If you get the chance, try the roof top pool, the views are stunning! We didn't go for the breakfast facilities, not because there was anything bad about them, simply that we were in HK and were keen to try local food. Tube station is very close by, taxi rank just outside the hotel. Yep, we'd go back. No problem at all.

    3
« Good views but tiny room and dirty beds! »

Location was perfect. Easily accessible from the MTR. Lots of transport and food readily available within a minute from stepping out of the hotel. I paid a very reasonable price for this room so not really complaining but the sheets had stains on it- which I decided to wear long pants to sleep and the air conditioning was too warm! Staff were not very friendly in general and seemed overworked. Wifi kept breaking down in my room.

« if 3C is what you looking for »

Cheap, Clean and Convenient. Plus, a great great sea view! if you need any help for directions or attraction recommendation, dont bother to go lv5 reception, instead go straight to level one concierge. they can even help to keep your luggage if you are there too early or you need few hours after you check out the room. negative points as below The wifi is super super super slow believe me. you better get your 4G network of your cell phone up and running. the swimming pool is still close. there is a notice on the wall saying due to winter season they close the pool but in my opinion it just a lame excuse cos it is summer now. in fact the entire view deck was not accessible i was told by a mandarin speaking young man. still, i will stay again if i have a chance to come here again, for the 3C.

    « Value, Convenience, Location »

The hotel is well located with an MRT station, Trolleys and busies within 1 block of the hotel. After-all you aren't in Hong Kong to spend your time in a hotel room are you. The staff are very helpful and will recommend restaurants for you as well things to see and do. Although the rooms are small and the beds very hard i highly recommend this hotel

    3
    « Within Expectation »

+ The location is convenient with easy accessibility via subway (with elevator to the ground level leading to the hotel - 1 min walk). + Reception service is polite and efficient on balance (to note that HKD500 deposit for incidental charges was collected upon check in, with no mention at booking). + Housekeeping team is responsive to requests and does an excellent job (change of bed linen on alternate days). - The room is a shoebox as mentioned by other reviewers (there is barely space leaving two luggages opened in a double room). - The wait for hotel elevator is a pain (surprisingly there's no improvement notwithstanding the complaints). - Occasional bad smell in the bathroom. - Wifi is weak in the night. Overall the stay was acceptable considering the price paid (by HK standard) and much within expectation (having guided by the earlier reviews), albeit would better recommend for solo traveller given the small room.

    4
    « Location is good »

Location is good. Room is clean with a great view. Small but nice. Near MTR station. Safe neighborhood. Hotel is near 7/11, Mcdonalds, and local restaurants. Everyday hotel staff clean the room and replenished bathroom supplies. Another thing is... hotel is near Macau Ferry terminal and 2 MTR Station to central. Near bus stops and tram. My husband and I had a wonderful stay, we had a good sleep.

« Shower curtain, slow wifi, no desk, HK$5 local calls »

I am currently staying at the hotel, staying May 27 to June 3 in a "Deluxe Harbour View Room". I've been in a single room, and since changed to a room with two beds. After trying to make a local HK call only to be informed that each local call costs HK$5, I was inspired to write this review. The hotel is 1 minute away from Sai Ying Pun (new station just west of Sheung Wan) on the Island Line; unfortunately, it's another 10 minute walk from the entrance to the actual trains. The rooms are rather clean, if not well appointed. They've got a sort of "Trump Collection Exclusively Available at Wal-Mart" aesthetic, with cheap laminated shelves or wall-hooks instead of a proper wardrobe. There is a lot of gold tiles fancy wallpaper which isn't too bad, but a bit 1980's French disco. The beds range from "cardboard plank with springs" to acceptable (tested three beds). One issue is the gold tinted mirror in the bathroom of my first room, combined with the dim lighting it was very difficult to see yourself. Lucky in the second room the mirror was not tinted. There is a shower curtain and the bathroom is very tiny. Therefore the curtain will probably attack you and stick to you. The view from the first room (1709) was of the back of several buildings, some A/C units, and through the cracks of two buildings I could just make out Victoria Harbor. The view from the second room (2519) is better, it's a corner room higher up and so has a proper view of the western end of the harbor. The odd numbered rooms face the harbor, even numbered don't. The wifi is free and was ok in my first room, but is about 1995 AOL dialup speed in my second room, probably due to being in the corner of the building. If you are at about the 20th floor or below, in the morning get on an elevator that is going up. If you wait on one going down, the tiny elevator will be full of people and you'll have to stand around waiting for another five minutes. The staff are rather pleasant and helpful. I needed an iron, asked a cleaner in the hallway, and she literally ran off to get it (she ran down the hall, didn't walk, to fetch the iron, you could tell she was a very energetic woman). I changed rooms and had my luggage stored without a problem, although they forgot to bring up one bag until I called to remind them the next day. The rooms are kept clean, bedding and towels appeared well washed and clean. There is a 24 hour 7-11 directly across the street, a laundry service across from the subway entrance (about 10x less expensive than the hotel's service), and a nice hipster ran coffee shop just outside the subway entrance. Overall it's a nice hotel which is well staffed. It's tiny, but that is what you get in HK. After living in HK for 4 years and visiting often since then, staying in many hotels, I'd put this one in the 50-75% range. Best Western doesn't quite beat iClub, which is probably the #1 affordable yet clean, modern, bright hotel chain for business people who pay their own invoices.

« Will never stay here again.. »

After travelling for 4,5 month we were looking forward to have 2 relaxing days with a pool, nice beds etc. after we have been staying at hostels for the last 4,5 month. In the description on Booking.com they are saying that they have free shuttle bus to Hong Kong - Macao Terminal, they don't. On their website they says that they have free shuttle bus to the airport, they don't. The pool is closed 3 hours in the middle of the day, the beds are bad and the rooms are so small. Then they call them self 'Harbour View'... You have to be very lucky to have the Harbour view. The only good thing about this place is the cleaning staff, which is doing a very good job. Will never recommend anybody to stay here.. Find another place to stay!

« A urine smelling shoe box but cheap, cheap, cheap. »

Ok so whilst not the most fancy of places, we got what we paid for, the location was fantastic and it had all we needed. For a week us two girls had two tiny single beds and a bathroom with just enough room for a suitcase each. But again, that's all we needed for the short time we spent in the room. The drains did start smelling of strong urine after 3 nights so we had to change room. But then we were fine. Again, we got what we paid for. Would I stay there again? Probably not but it was perfect for our girls week. Minus the urine smell. And had the added advantage of being a few doors down from an Aussie coffee shop Winston's with the best coffee in HK! Big tick in my book.

    « Tiny bathroom »

My room was "Superior Queen or Twin with Mountain view". The room is really small and no writing desk so it can be very inconvenient if you are on business travel. But what really upset me is how bathroom is tiny and the room is very dark. I'm just 160cm but my legs barely fit between bathtub and toilet and to take shower I had to literally step on the toilet to get into the bathtub. If you are in a budget travel it can be a choice otherwise not recommended. I'm glad that I stayed only one night. The staffs was overall attentive.

    3
« Comfortable to be in »

This is your typical hotel. The receptionists were cordial. I was somewhere in the 21st floor. My room had two beds. 1 TV (it has English channels), WiFi, a bathroom (with hot water), fold-able table and they give complimentary fruits when you arrive. I am not exactly sure if there is breakfast for this hotel. My overall stay in this hotel is in between good and not so good. I had a good sleep though because the beds are soft. I am not exactly sure what is near this hotel but there are a lot of local restaurants nearby. If people will ask me what negative thing can I find from this hotel, it will be the elevator. People with experiences with tall buildings knows the pain of waiting for the elevator. hehe

    3
    « Ok stay. »

Arrived at the hotel to be given a warm welcome and check in was quite quick. When I arrived at my room it was very small but was clean. The air con worked very well and the wifi worked well. The bed was very hard. It did not have any give in it at all and felt like I was sleeping on bricks. All in all for the price it was ok as was in a good location but the room is very small and bed uncomfortable.

    3
    « Great location »

I didn't have any problems with this hotel. Yes the room was small and there wasn't a chair or table. It is in a terrific location and the service was excellent. I had issues with my safe and someone immediately came to take care of the problem.

    3
« OK and good value for money »

Location The immediate surroundings are not as gentrified as SoHo. There are a lot of small Chinese shops and restaurants. Within walking distance of SoHo and Central. An exit from the subway station Sai Jing Pun was just 50 meters from the hotel. Staff Nice and helpful, but sometimes a bit stressed. Room It was a so called "Superior Room", which was very small with a queen-size hard bed. No place to put the bag and almost no shelves or drawers to put clothes. There are some hooks and hangers, but if you are two in this kind of room you will have trouble moving around. It could have been better cleaned. There was a piece of candy wrapper on the floor and berries hidden under the plug in the sink. There were also some fatty blotches on the window from people pressing their faces against it to admire the view. The view was nice though. The bathroom was also tidy, but looked a bit worn. Elevators With 36 floors and over 400 rooms there was quite a bit of waiting at the elevators in "rush hours".

    3
    « Good location! »

We stayed here for 3 nights during our recent Hong Kong trip. The hotel is located near a metro station and just a block away from the tram line. There were also many dining places int he vicinity as well as shops. The hotel itself was not big. Rooms were a bit small and the bathroom was rather cramped. The refrigerator provided int he room is really tiny! It was my first time to see one that size. The breakfast selection was limited. The outdoor pool was a bit small and open only for a limited time (10AM-12 noon; 2PM-8PM). It would have been lovely to be able to soak in the pool after a day of going around the island. We got the room on a discount and it was great value for our money. If you are looking for an affordable place to be used as base for your Hong Kong stay, this is definitely a good one.

    3
« Nice hotel but expect compact rooms »

Positives of hotel: Approximately 1 minute walk to subway station Check-In was quick Price of hotel is competitive They offer smoking rooms Clean rooms that look stylish Pool in hotel also The shower was powerful Negatives: Room is compact (like most rooms in large cities) There aren't enough lifts for the amount of rooms/guests and the lifts are usually always busy Bathroom is tiny! It felt like an obstacle course to get out of the shower Although I've marked a few negatives I think the accommodation was fairly priced considering the more expensive options available elsewhere. We stayed in a smoking room- mountain view twin room on 35th floor.

    2
« Good location, but poor room facility »

I didn't complain when I was told that if I chose the smoking room, I would have no harbour view. In my room, there is no chair, no table, so hard to relax. I wish I would have regular size fridge (it's very small!), and wash-basin. The room design should be more considered. The ibis northpoint was smaller than here, but better furnished. It was good to experience the old western area of HK island. Better to take a tram or bus than subway to go to Central.

    4
« Good location and value for money »

Good location, less than 5 minutes from the MTR exit. Pool was closed in Feb as it was too cold. Check in was smooth and rooms were clean. Decent size by Hong Kong standards. The harbour view on the 36th floor isnt really a harbour view - it's more partial as there is a building right in front that's under construction (quiet though).

    2
    « Worst Western »

When you book get a bed assignment done, twins, double, etc. What you want may only be available in smoking rooms. Check the room before you commit. Many of the rooms have no closets and it's two hooks on the wall. Check WiFi in the room while you are there coz it was horrible and no functional unless I was in the 3rd floor Café. The washing area, sink is in a corner with no light to see yourself shaving, etc. 3rd Floor buffet wasn't very appetizing so I just had coffee and ate at the Marriott instead. The elevators are very slow and you will wait for a few of them during the day as they may be full. The pool on the top floor was closed. The location doesn't have any nightlife around. Aircon in the room was very noisy. Cramped shower. The good attributes: Coffee was great on the 3rd floor. The staff on the concierge street level were very helpful. Very close to Sai Ying Pun train station. Overall, won't stay there again.

« Great location and value for money »

Seconds from Sai Ying Pun MTR staton and or an easy and enjoyable walk to central. Very friendly and helpful staff and very good housekeeping. Nice restaurant. Room a little tired, wifi slow, air con loud and room compact (typical for HK though) but very clean and on balance not a problem given great location and very good price.

    « *** »

Location: near the central station & they provide free shuttle Staff: friendly & can speak English Room: compares to hotels in Bali, the room that I have is way too small. No cupboard. Put your luggage under the bed. At first I think the bed is too hard but after having a walk all day long, this firm bed is exactly what I need. Breakfast: standart

    « Business hotel »

I would like to start by saying this was my first trip to Hong Kong. That being said, I was not prepared for such a small room (no clothes closet or dresser either). The room was functional but very small (my office at work is actually larger). I understand that this may be the norm for Hong Kong and I will not know this until I try some other properties. The hotel was located close to the train which was nice. In addition taxis, Uber and shuttles were readily available. Breakfast was acceptable and a fair price at HK$60. Overall, I may try another hotel or Best Western next time to compare.

« Most horrible hotel ever visited »

This hotel is nither a 3 star property nor deserve to be associated with name like Best Western. Rooms a beautifully photographed in websites and get high footfall in hotel. Nothing just nothing is good in hotel. Staff is ill mannered. Rooms are so small that it is just impossible to walk even around the bed and bathrooms it is just impossible to enter. Please just dont go in this property Had not paid in advance i would have checked out just after entering the room.

    4
« Small Room, Breakfast not worth it »

We got this hotel because the location is good. It's near Sai Ying Pun station and Tram station however the room is so small that if you open 2 of your 25-kl worth of luggage, you can no longer move. The breakfast buffet has very few choices. Mostly processed foods, sausages and ham. There's even no bacon. I ate rice/bread and scrambled eggs during my whole stay just not to waste our money. So my advice is, don't bother getting the breakfast anymore, 711 is just across you can buy from there or from Cafe de Coral. But the good thing is, aside from the location, the staff are courteous and speaks english. From the airport, you can ride bus A10 and go down on the 3rd stop (Connaught Garden) from there, walk towards Centre Street and left to Queen's Road.

    2
    « Poor franchise. »

Like stepping back in time. Horrible, outdated furniture, not very clean etc etc. There is a Best Western PLUS just round the corner . This must have been the MINUS. Reception on 5th floor, wait ages for lift especially in the mornings, and lifts packed.

    3
« Name Brands Do Not Always Deliver »

Best Western is a Name Synonamous iwth reliable and comfortable I should have looked closer at the reviews before spending 7 nights there I was given one of the rooms on the 36th Floor, I had as per usual , asked for a quitet room. I was here for Busines, not to sightsee. I was so tired the first night that I went to sleep waking up occasionall, fading in and out, next night, Definitely the noises of the external machinery was toooo lound that at 2am , I asked to be shifed. Staff at check in and during as well as going could not do enough, very helpful. Hotels has no wardrobe and the bathroom sink in is in general room. 2 set 0f 3 hooks off the wall is your hang up for clothes. You live out of your suitcase very close to MTR and this was helpful to get all over HK

    3
« Everything Just So So »

The staffs were acknowledged me when appropriate but they were not readily smile and maintained an engaging experience. They didn't exhibit a genuine sense of interest and concern for me. My name was not used naturally as a signal of recognition. Staffs closed interactions casually, not professionally. Overall I felt like I'm the one of many.

    3
« No frills, but no problems »

The hotel is in a great location, 30-60 second walk from Sai Ying Pun station, and the coffee shop nearby (Winstons) is possibly the best thing to have ever happened to Hong Kong. The room rates represent good value as well. Just be aware - the rooms are small. No cupboards and the shower / toilet arrangement could be awkward because of the lack of space. You have to get changed in the bedroom because there's no room in the bathroom area so a bit awks if you're traveling just with friends. The beds are very hard but comfortable. Air con is set on 23 which is pleasant enough. There was a slight smell of mould in my room but I couldn't see where it was coming from (I'm not sure if that's a good or a bad thing). There was nowhere to put my suitcase other than on the window sill. The elevators are bizarre - they'll go up and down past your floor without stopping and the over-the-top gold decor takes tackiness to a new level! Each to their own I guess. The fitness room has only cardio equipment so if you want to do weights you're out of luck. Staff are great - not only concierge but house keeping were lovely. Overall - if you're traveling on a budget you'll do far worse than this.

    4
    « An enjoyable experience »

We stayed here for 4 nights. I loved the location, quite close to Times Square (metro station) and local street food / restaurants. The size of the room was what you can imagine to get for this amount of money in Hong kong. Nothing too shabby but that's not the point, now is it. The breakfast was OK. A mix of chinese and western. Sausages, scrambled eggs, noodly-thingys, yoghurt+cereals, bread+jam, some fresh tomatoes and salad. OJ/coffee/tea to drink. All I expected. There was a jaccuzzi on the roof. The water isn't heated so it's rather weather reliant. A magnificient view none the less. The staff spoke english quite well and were helpful and friendly, kudos to them. Wi-Fi also worked really well. This rating could be a 5/5 but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

    « Small Room »

Prior to going I emailed the hotel asking the best way to get to the hotel and the concierge replied with half a dozen options to choose from and even attached maps. Check in was painless and we was given a free upgrade to room on 31st floor. So onto the room, after researching previously we knew the room was going to be small, which it was. Opened the door and sink was directly on right and sliding door to left. Note door had a open groove handle, no glass, so you could be heard in the room and little privacy. The bathroom itself had toilet and small bath/shower with NO floorspace, so you had to come out of bathroom to dry/dress. Bed was standard double with space underneath for suitcases and just enough space around to walk. NO closet, just decorative hangers on wall! We had harbour view from window which was spectacular! Roof top pool was closed at this time but looked OK. Hotel users get discount in restaurant for breakfast which was well worth the money. Walking distance, half hour, to ferry terminal to go over to Kowloon or MTR only 2 minutes away and we saw loads all over the place. To conclude, even though the room was small we had a great stay at this hotel and used as a base was ideal for us.

The location of the hotel is perfect, next to Sai Yin Pung MTR station which is 2 stops to central. We received a room on the 35th floor, which was awesome! The rooms are a bit on the smaller side as this in Hong Kong - but it has been very nicely set up to maximise the space with all the amenities and no compromise on quality. All in all, very extremely good value for the room rate! If you are looking for a place close to central and a good night's sleep, this is the one for you!

This hotel is terrible, I arrived and was given a room that smells like smoke and poop. Went back to front desk which is on the 5th floor. I was then offered a room that's smoke free, got into our room, small as a match box. Pictures online are very deceiving. I stayed here for 6days with my 2 kids. Every day I had to ask for towels. The bathroom smells like drainage- the room is hot and stuffed. Dinning room smells, we couldn't dare to eat there, location is great! Staff is very rude, the pool and viewing deck was always locked, we couldn't get in, even though the sign reads (open 10am to 8pm) it was always locked. Finally I got hold of staff to open the pool, I was directed to take the stairs on the 36th floor and the deck was on the 38th floor. The elevators are slow and packed. The place stinks. I would not recommend this hotel. I booked a harbour view, was given a alley view. What a nightmare!

« Well located hotel , small rooms but great value ! »

Stayed here for 3 nights , 2 minute to MTR and also shuttle to HK airport express station . Hotel is amongst older residential buildings therefore chance for us to try local eateries in the area . Rooms are small but adequate . All and all , a great value hotel in HK !

« Small rooms but great value »

There's no getting away from the fact that the rooms in this hotel are SMALL (my room had no space for a wardrobe), but get past that and everything else is excellent, especially considering the low prices you can book for. The interior of the hotel is modern and classy, the bed was very comfortable and the WIFI reliable. Breakfast was also very tasty and I found all the staff to be helpful. The location is great and within walking distance of central HK, whilst the free shuttle bus came in very handy for getting to/from the hotel from the train station. I believe there is also now a metro station near to the hotel, which wasn't yet open when I visited. My only complaint about this hotel is the long wait for the lifts/elevators. This is a large hotel with just two lifts available, so sometimes you can be waiting for a while! Overall I would recommend staying here if you're looking for a great value hotel in HK and don't need loads of space.

    « Really small rooms »

Ok, it's Hongkong, there is not a lot of space. But anyway the room is so small, that two persons cannot move. There is no space for luggage, no closet and no space on the floor. The water was smelling a lot because of the chlorine. But the Rofftop terrace is amazing!

    2
« Basic with a touch of bad taste »

Room was small luckily with twin beds as it was so cold I was able to use the bedding from the other bed. Design of bedroom was pretty awful. Bathroom in need of an upgrade. Staff very nice. Actual visual experience is worse than the official photos suggest.

    « Satisfied =) »

March 10-13,2016 Good location, clean and nice staff. My only request is to have bidet in the toilet. If you're going to stay here i think it's better to bring your own toiletries. All in all the hotel is superb.

    « Pleasant stay-Biz traveler. »

I've been several times in HK and tried several hotels and I can conclude that the beds are hard everywhere (for my taste). The location is good, just a block away from the MTR station, there is a Cafe de Coral a block away for breakfast, and 10 min subway ride to Central or 20 min on the tram. The room is smaller that expected, no closet space but nice and clean all over. The rooftop pool view is very nice. The elevators are not that quick, so be patient and try the service one, on your left.

« Well appointed rooms. Not enough lifts. Ordinary food »

The rooms were very small, no wardrobes, but adequate under bed storage for suitcases. We had lovely view of Victoria Harbour. Tiny bathroom, with basin outside. Small fridge and inroom safe provided. In room tea and coffee making services and a hairdryer. Ricky the concierge was just awesome. Hotel is well located near metro on Hong Kong Island. Buffet breakfast was one of the worst I've had, but was included in our room rate. Nice restaurants across the road. We recommend eating at the King Prawn Resturant. Meals cost between 30 and 80$ HKD. Cheap, filling and delicious meals.

« A really badly run hotel with horrid amenities. »

I would recommend you to avoid this hotel. It does not hold good to the best western name. Even basic stuff like Hot water is not adequate at the property. The breakfast was absolutely below par. The management is not really bothered about you, especially if you are not white.

« For budget travelers, good enough »

Stayed here 3 nights out of 6 in Hong Kong. Room is very small, but conveniently located 1 block from MTR station. Walking distance to Man Mo Temple and Sheung Wan restaurants. Not the most comfortable bed - I could feel the springs in the mattress with every move. However, we had a harbor view room that somewhat made up for that. Not much in the way of amenities, though we didn't try the cafe on the 3rd floor. Gym is just three cardio machines - not much, but fine in a pinch. Front desk staff wasn't the friendliest, but housekeeping was pleasant. Would recommend for budget travelers looking to spend their money on other things.

    2
    « tiny cramped room »

Hotel is in a great location, but the room was really small with poor lighting and tiny TV,no space to store luggage..also there are 4 lifts, but every time you need one, they take ages!! I would not stay here again because of the room size.

    4
« Great location, Nice staffs »

The hotel is located in a good location, you can walk just about 5-10 minutes from the hotel to an underground station. The rooms are quite small with a good harbour view. The bathroom was very small, everything in the bathroom is small. Nice and friendly staffs.

    1
« Worst hotel I have visited , not recommended at all »

The rooms are so small that sometimes you feel that you are gasping for breath. There is no space for keeping suitcases, smallest bathroom - toilet I have ever seen. Staff were very rude with one of them saying "I don't care" to me. Breakfast buffet was just pathetic. There were no almirahs to keep clothes.

    1
    « Life in a dirty matchbox »

smallest hotel room even by HK standards. dim lighting only 1 bedside light wash basin in main room cause bathroom too small, curtains didnt open properly.headboard fell off, toilet cistern leaked, exhaust fan rattled all the time.we had hairs in the bed spread, someone elses dirty socks in the bedside cupboard,no wardrobe or hanging rack just 2 small hooks,no bar a reataurant so bad we only saw 2 people dining at during our 10 day stay, observation deck was boarded up half way thru our visit

    4
    « I've stayed a couple times »

I have chosen this hotel over others a couple times. It is close to the metro, nearby restaurants and the staff is friendly. The rooms are tiny as would be expected in HK. But my last one had the smallest bathroom I have yet to see. If the toilet was any closer to the tub they would be one in the same! Despite that I would still come back and stay again.

    4
« Convenient location on HK Island »

The rooms are small, clean and well equipped. The location is very good - walking distance to the MTR and only two stops from Central. The hotel is a five minute walk to buses and the tram system. There are plenty of breakfast places and restaurants around but a visitor will probably go to Central or Kowloon. Not much by way of shopping or sights in the immediate vicinity but easy transport to good places.

    « Nice Hotel Overall »

Walking distance from the station and they had a lot of diners, convenient stores, bakery and maccas near by. I loved the fact they had maccas near by. A real plus for me. Breakfast buffet was nice. Not a lot to choose from, but they had the essentials. Concierge people were extremely friendly and were very willing to help. They spoke fluent english and answered all the queries I had. Room condition was okay, but very very- tiny.I liked the view, I dont quite know what view I got to choose from but I could see hongkong uni out the window. There were a lot of sunlight in the room so that was nice as well. I don't know if all the rooms are the same size but I would love to revist if they have bigger rooms. One thing I did not like was the wifi. The signal was terrible and it did not work 90% of the time in my room. I had to go to the lobby to use the wifi but that did not work very well too. Other than that, I liked the hotel very much.

    5
    « great hotel »

i got the chance to stay at the top level of the hotel (not the roof of course), in a harbor-view room and it was quite a great scene indeed. i'd stay in the hotel if i forget all my itineraries.. wifi was good enough for both of us, location is great as it is easily found from the ding-ding station

« Good location and base »

The hotel is a fair 3 star and excellent location next to the metro to travel around Hong Kong. Rooms are small with little in the way of luxury but clean and well maintained. Pool on room and very small gym. Hotel breakfast offerred for 60 HK dollars which is cheap but did not get the chance to sample it. If you just need a,base and out all day it's ideal....if you are looking for some luxury you may need to look further. Good value for money (even with the very hard beds!)

    3
    « Good location »

I booked this hotel through one of the web sites. We got a good deal for the hotel. We read some of the reviews and expected the hotel room is small. It is indeed very small. But, we got a harbour view room, the view was just grant and great. It compensated for the small room. Location is perfect. An average hotel but worth to stay for a few nights.

    4
« Good location, and value »

Stayed for 2 nights, the room is clean, and hotel location is great, many shop and restaurants surround it. Especially, there are many traditional hk tea places, local markets & "Welcome", supermarket in walking distance. I definitely would like to stay there again.

    2
    « Back breaking bed »

This hotel is conveniently located, and I actually got a harbor view. Other than that I was disappointed. The room was very smal, with no place to put my luggage. The bed was typical "cheap" Chinese style hard bed. The bed linen was so worn it had holes in it. I was offered early check in at 120 Hkg dollar extra which I accepted. Entering the room, house keeping came in and emptied the minibar, I didn't even ask why. I wish I would have spent a few hundred more for a more comfortable hotel, but my booking was non refundable. Not coming back.

    3
    « Good value »

Affordable accommodation, room was very small! But the hotel is very close to MTR station and convenience stores - prime location. WORST bed I have ever slept on however, overall a good experience. Rooms are cleaned daily. Free reliable wifi available.

    4
    « Expectations Exceeded »

I know space is a premium in Hong Kong, so I was already expecting the room to be small. I booked for a Superior Mountain View Room, and requested for 1 queen bed. Upon check in, I was informed that the double beds are only available for more expensive rooms. Seeing the disappointment in my face, the receptionist upgraded my room for free! Yes, the rooms were small as expected. No wardrobe, just a double bed, a TV and all other hotel basics. Plus points: 1. There was a bath tub! 2. I got quickly upgraded to a better room! 3. The view was great! It was overlooking Victoria Harbor 4. The cleaning lady was very courteous, and the rest of housekeeping. Very quick with requests! 5. It's very near an MTR station, so navigating the city is easy. Minus points: 1. View deck was closed almost all the time, we never really had the chance to experience it. 2. Gym was very small (but hell, who goes to gyms on a vacation?) 3. Though I was given a room upgrade, the receptionists were a turn off. I don't know if its a HK thing, they are not good in making people feel like paying customers. I have been to alot of Best Westerns, and this has the gloomiest reception people ever! Overall, I think it deserves a 4/5 rating. It was a good stay!

    4
    « Couples Stay »

Rooms are small but this is normal for hotels at Hong Kong. Comfortable and easy access to MTR Sai Yun Pun (within 5 minutes walk). Lift is insufficient due to the many floors of this hotel. Some occasions waited for more than 10minutes. Nice view of the mountain and harbour at the top highest floor which is also the pool area. Try to get the higher floors to have better view. The room I stayed had a incomplete building construction and blocked most of the view of the harbour. I was only at 20+ level. Staffs are English proficient but may sound rude at times due to many visitors as I visited during the Christmas period.

    3
« Good Value, Good location »

Small room, but hotel very close to Sai Ying Pun MTR Exit A1. Also, if you like walking, it is 15-20mins walking distance from central. Things I liked: Always taxis downstairs, 7-11 across the road, cheap @ HK$680/night Things I didn't like: Queues for the lifts (took forever), mass busloads of Chinese Tourists, tiny rooms. Overall, I would stay again - as the cost-saving outweighs the negatives.

    3
    « OK for a short trip »

The room was clean but very small, so small that is was difficult to open the luggage. The bath is separated from the room by a slide door that doesn't offer intimacy, the sink is not in the bathroom but next to the main room entrance, from our point of view not really hygienically. The personal was friendly and helpful.

    4
« great for its price »

The location is about 5-minute walk from the Sai Ying Pun MTR Station. On the way to hotel from the station, there is a new coffee place called "Coffee is the New Black," which serves a great cup of coffee and a matcha(green tea) eggtart. I usually stay in Sheungwan area when I visit HK, and I'm really glad this place is now here to let me treat myself a good cup of coffee in the morning--there used be no coffee place near this hotel.

« Small room and I mean really small room »

Took a cab to Best Western Harbor View, told the cab driver hotel name in Chinese (Mandarin), cab driver took me to the wrong hotel about 100 m away. Apparently both have same Chinese name. Put our luggages at level 1. Reception at level 5. Reception staff service is good. Given a room with (surprise) a seaview. BUT room is very small and ventilation is very bad. Fridge is not mini but super mini that can contain at most a 1-litre packet milk. Cute isn't it ? Stayed one nite on 30 Dec 2015. Guess what ? The price for similar room for 31 Dec nite was about USD 250. Needless to say, I didn't extend my stay there. Staff service was good, from the porter/luggage side as well as the reception. Location is ok, with a HK cafe nearby that served delicious wonton noodles. There was a Wellcome supermarket nearby too, but you have to walk up the stairs. Only in HK. Though staff service was good, would not stay there again due to poor room conditions.

« Very Small Room Hotel ever stayed »

I stayed for 6 days for business trip, location are close to MTR Sai Ying Pun Station maybe just 50M so we can go to anywhere easily, Breakfast menu are no change for 6 days i'm so bored :( But i only in Room just for sleep only, come at 11-12 PM and go at 8 AM,

« Good Location but room quite small »

We booked deluxe double room seaview quite disappoint with sizing of room coz it quite small,no wardrobe just a hook on the wall. sink is outside bathroom .There are 3 lift for guest but very slow waiting quite long time especially in the morning. Good location just 5 minute walk to MTR , Fair breakfast I stayed there for 3 night they serve same breakfast everyday!! anyway clean room sleep well.

« Good location but legendary hard beds »

Good location and close to the subway. Great view over the harbour. Clean rooms, but extremely hard bed! Also very small bathroom, the knees are hitting the bathtub when you sit on the toilet (and i am a fairly small woman). Did not try the breakfast.

    4
    « Close to Mtr »

very close to MTR, near Mc donold and supermarget, I had a 32th level The room was so small but had a nice view despite the other build is building, the bathroom was small but still has a bath tub, The service is good, The let me had an early check-in and late check-out also

    3
« average at the max »

    - very small rooms (had 2207) - view is 'bad' on that lower levels - no armoire/wardrobe (you'll have to live out of your suitcase) - waterbasin is in the room as it does not fit into the very small bathroom - pool/viewdeck closed for seemingly no reason, refusal to open without explanation - breakfast barely average (i.e no beacon) + staff quick & friendly, (late checkout was granted complimentary without a fuss) + clean I would say the if your itinerary is like being all day out and you just need a place to shower/sleep, then it's just fine.

    5
    « Comfort hotel »

Loved this hotel. Good location and near MTR. I had deluxe room, so free place enough.and nice view to harbour.I like this hotel spirit.Staff was friendly.Room was clean. Elevator was quick, but sometimes i waited in queue. Unfortunately in winter season pool didnt worked.

    5
« Very luxurious even though it's small and compact. »

Although it's small but the hotel is very centralized. It's 2 MTR stops from Central. We even took the MTR home 1 nite after drinking in Lan Kwai Fong. And look at the view. It's awesome. Rarely u get hotel with a harbour view at the price I was paying. Love Best Western Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong. It might help to know there is a 24hour McDonald's nearby.

    4
« small rooms, small prices and a rooftop pool »

The rooms are small. So small that there is not really any room for luggage and so small that any person over 6 feet height has to sit sideways on the toilet because the room that the knees would be located otherwise is occupied by the bathtub. On the other side, this hotel has a rooftop pool on the 38th floor (closed for winter season starting Dec. 1) and if booked a little in advance costs half or less than other hotels in the area. Given Hong Kong's generally HIGH hotel prices, a little less room is easy to deal with.

    2
« Very Small Room and Not a Bathroom for Human »

We arrived at 2PM where the room shall be ready. The receptionist gave me a room as per our requested, high floor, non-smoking, harbour view. After we signed the form, the receptionist change the room without our concent. I was mad that he didn't tell us about it. She didn't say sorry at all, just said that the non-smoking room was not ready (that's silly because the system said differently). Afterward, they gave me non smoking room but I have to wait for an hour. Good thing that we went to Fast Food resto nearby. When we checked in, surprisingly the only good thing is the view of harbour. The room was very small, the bathroom with bathtub is riddiculously not for human. When taking a bath, I was bang my head to the ceiling. Overall, not going to back to this hotel. If you're taller than 170cm, please consider to take other hotel instead.

« It was fine for one night. »

Stayed here on a stopover from Chicago to Beijing. Price is right, room was on the 23rd floor with a beautiful view of the habor. Location was not bad, room was typical Asian, very small but overall was clean. Decided to get the breakfast downstairs which was fine, Asian and american things to eat. Rooftop pool provides fabulous view.

    « tiny rooms »

My husband booked this hotel for me and my kids for a vacations... i really do find that this hotel does not belong to the area where they constructed it , sai yin pun is dirty and too smelly , but well i will only share my opinion about western hotel harbour view , the rooms are so tiny , and the bathroom and toilet is so tiny , i dont even have any idea how they put the bed inside, there is no place for the luggage. everything is tiny here ... this hotel really suits for small size person , elevators are so tiny and... towels are too thin and small , housekeeper are too slow when you ask a favor ... breakfast is served so poorly ... i cant imagine i stayed here for 9 days and i have two kids ... i highly recommend this hotel for single person or student ... or maybe couples who are stingy to pay for a hotel .....

    2
« Low cost and you get what you pay for »

My room did not look like the pix above. I found the room small, tiny. It appeared clean. The AC was struggling, I can't imagine this place in the dead of summer. The worst part is even tho wifi was included, it was so slow I couldn't connect to work. Bottom line, this is not a business hotel. "Harbor view", well it faces the harbor, but my view was blocked by other bldgs. I could see some water in between bldgs. To be fair, the staff was helpful, even allowed me to change rooms to have a desk (ie folding table) but then no "wardrobe". This only consisted of cheap shelving anyway. The location is great, half block walk to the blueline. But, this wasn't what I was looking for

    1
    « BED BUGS! »

We had a bed bug crawling around in our room. So not an insane infestation but one is enough to keep me away. When we checked out early they would not refund any of our money for upcoming nights. Scariest of all is probably that when we told them we had seen bed bugs they were entirely unphased or concerned.

« All that glitters is NOT gold! »

Awful excuse for a hotel and unfortunately in line with the Best Western franchise. I stayed on HK island as I had a few commitments in town (normally live on Lantau) So Staff were unfriendly and miserable, they told me I had a twin, I asked if there were any double beds, they said "no" I can upgrade to a harbour view.... I don't care about the view. other things, room wasn't well laid out shower had a curtain that failed (repeatedly) to keep water in the shower. décor was nice though. Mattress on both beds was terrible, springs sticking through so hard to get comfy, which I think is pretty basic for a hotel! also I spilt chocolate on the bed (admittedly it may have looked like a dirty protest) anyway the maid didn't change the sheet for the 2nd night! she tidies but why would you not change a dirty sheet, again a basic for a hotel! additionally, the maid were really loud and the 3 lifts were so slow I took the stairs

    3
« Great roof top view »

The rooms in this hotel are typical of Hong Kong, small and compact. No real room to hang clothes but the beds were comfy and as you learn to live in the tight space, they are adequate. The roof top pool was a real gem with fabulous views over the harbour. It was rarely used so we found ourselves using this space instead of our room. Spreading out on loungers with our own drinks and enjoying the ambience. Lots of choice at breakfast and good service here. Ok value for monies paid.

    3
« No Mattress on bed - but great view »

The rate might have been so good because the bed had no mattress, only a box spring. And when we called for a mattress, we were given a comforter. However, the view did help lull my parents to sleep. PROS - smoke free room smelled smoke free, clean, bathroom quite functional and large, good water pressure, tiny fridge was functional, location was nice and close to MTR. CONS - the box spring, for a deluxe room the room was very small

    4
    « well located »

the hotel is well located on the Hong Kong Island, close to many shops and restaurants, offering great view from the top floors, unfortunately the rooms are really tiny, not really big enough for two people

    3
    « slightly disappointing »

It looks OK, but there are many flaws, the washbasin is in a small niche next to the door, with no light, so you have to groom yourself in the dark, the elevator capacity is insufficient at peak hours which results in long waiting times, the internet is so slow and sending e-mails is virtually impossible. I had to go outside tot the 7/11 grocery store where the had free internet and I could send out my e-mails

    3
« Convenient, but nothing special »

We had a pleasant stay at the hotel, if you are looking for a mid-priced hotel, this is a good one. Rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable (assuming you are ready for small Hong Kong rooms. Good - Staff was excellent - luggage storage under bed - fridge to store beer and reasonable price for pop/beer in minibar - Very close to MTR station and short cab to Airport express - Breakfast was decent and convenient, but could find better value at restaurant - Curtains were very dark, great for overcoming jet lag Bad - Pool is only open 11am to 8pm, terrible timing for what could be a great view of the harbor. If you are visiting HK, you are likely not at the hotel when this is open, at least we never were - No light above sink made shaving/grooming/makeup etc... difficult Overall, would probably not be my first choice to stay there again, but it would suffice for another stay if better options were not available.

« Good for the Price »

The best thing about this hotel is the price I paid for a 5-nights stay (HKD2975). As expected the room was small, two single beds with space underneath to stow luggage. No closet but there were a couple of hooks to hang clothes. Shower was tiny. Overall, this is typical of Hong Kong where space is always scarce. The room is not a place to relax in, just enough to get some sleep! Breakfast at the Terrace coffee shop is HKD60.00 but the food is not appetising at all. You are better off spending half for a McDonald's (a few meters away) big breakfast! The hotel is busy and waiting for the lift could be long as it is always full.

    3
« Location is the only standout »

I stayed in a Deluxe Harbour View Room. I got a much better rate for the room since I booked the same day I was to check-in. I paid around 990HK for a 2200HK room ($128 VS $284). Breakfast was also included in this reduced price. Room: The room did not have a view of the harbor. A building covered in green tarp currently being constructed right in front of the room blocked my harbor view. The room was very small. This was the smallest room I have stayed in while in Hong Kong (I've stayed at Butterfly on Hollywood, Park Lane and Luxe Manor). There was barely any room to move around. It was so small that there was no desk. Instead, there was a fold out desk attached to the wall that you could pull out. This was located on the right side of the bed. You will not be able to do work in here if that is your intention. Also, there was no place to put your bags. There was no closet. There were only two hangers hanging on a coat hanger attached to the wall. The bed was the worst I have slept on while in Hong Kong. You can feel the springs underneath you very well. It was so uncomfortable that I lined up all my pillows and slept on top of those. Service: There were no problems with the service. Check-in and check-out went smoothly. Food: Room service prices were acceptable and the food was pretty good. Breakfast wasn't great but for the relative selection and convenience I thought 80HK ($10) was an ok price. I gave it three stars because for $128 this wasn't bad by Hong Kong standards. If I had paid $284 for the same room I think I would have given this hotel a 2 or a 1.

    « Tiny dark rooms »

LOCATION: - The best thing about this hotel is the location. 1 minute to the MTR, Good cheap restaurants nearby, grocery, convenience store, Cafe de Coral all within a 5 minute walk HOTEL: - free airport transfer to this hotel from HK station - modern but gaudy looking hotel with tiny rooms and elevators - rooms were very small, hard bed, dark wallpaper and insufficient lighting made me feel claustrophobic - small bathroom with modern fixtures( request for the bathroom without the tub so you have more space) the lavatory is in the room. Separate from the bathroom - wifi was pretty good, had no problems with it RESTAURANT: I didn't get to try the breakfast but there are many good restaurants right across the hotel FACILITIES: - Gym had 3 cheap, flimsy machines- a treadmill, elliptical and bike, towels and water dispenser - view of the street and old buildings - didn't get to see the Pool SERVICE: Staff were courteous and efficient !

« Deluxe Seaview room, very small, old and smelly »

Photos not showing reality....Deluxe Seaview room is extremely small located at corner. Low floor do not have seaview. Sea was blocked by buildings. Room is very small, rotten wall paper and smelly room. Tiny toilet with a standing shower just less than 4 sqft. Drainage block and water all overflow. The hotel is considered a 1 star motel furbishment. Breakfast food is considered poor at quality. Staff of breakfast service are robotic and unfriendly. Roof pool was closed just for roof view.....??!!!

« Great for budget travelers and short stays »

Best Western Harbor view Hotel in Hong Kong is the best budget hotel in Hong Kong Island. The hotel provides just the right amenities and is situated very close to most tourist attractions in the city. The first thing you will notice that just outside the hotel there are a lot of restaurants, ATMs, convenience stores to make you feel comfortable that all essentials are within reach and you don't have to go out hunting for the same. The next is the proximity to the subway or the MTR, which itself is very well connected throughout the city. Talking about the hotel, I took the queen bed harbor view room. It was a very basic room just enough to have a double bed, and some walking space around it. The room had a private washroom with attached shower. For a single traveler this was great. For two adults the room could prove small especially with little space to open the bags. I was mentally prepared for a small room, so no issues there. Secondly what impressed me was the buffet breakfast which is priced at HKD 60 per pax and includes a lot of veg/non veg options. Thirdly, the rooftop swimming pool with stunning views of the harbor and the mountains made chilling out at the terrace an awesome experience in the night. Finally there is a free shuttle from the airport to the Airport express station and vica versa so that tourists do not end up paying exorbitant amounts while coming by taxi. I made that mistake of taking one from the airport to the hotel and ended up paying HKD 340, but made sure on the way back I took the Airport express train which charges HKD 100 only Overall, very impressed with the hotel and would recommend to anyone looking for convenience and not luxury to pick on this option.

« Location is the only really great thing about this hotel »

+ Superb location in the heart of Sai Ying Pun next door to the MTR. + Lovely rooftop pool with view + Reasonable rates given that it's Hong Kong - Tiny room with very awkward furniture layout (requires some contortion skills, unless you are a minion) - Room smelled like the inside of a veteran smoker's right lung - Hard uncomfortable mattress AND pillow - Awkward shower and toilet area also requires taking some very strange poses (wash basin is not even inside the bathroom) -Reception is not on ground floor, elevator takes ages to come. Would not stay here again, unless it was for a very short layover. Location and comparatively reasonable rate are the only positive factors. However, those with a sense of humour will certainlynappreciate the blindingly bejewelled exterior of the hotel (brace yourselves...) :)

« small rooms but good location »

this is one of the iconic hotel at causewaybay hongkong, so location is just great. the hotel has over 40 storeys, so it is obvious that it gives good views of city from hotel, best part was its rooftop small jacuzzi, which give panormic view of hongkong harbour. it was great sitting on the roof top (find photos with the reivew). But the rooms are very small and can not accomodate more than 2 person. considering the location one can not expect

« Not quite as description and pictures. »

I'm trying to be kind about this property mainly because of the staff. The staff were efficient and helpful, particularly Joby, the duty manager who did the best she ciuld to improve the situation. Having worked in Asia I am familier with HK, and booked the hotel to get a view of Victoria Harbour. The room booked was a Delux Harbour View with queen bed. Unfortunately, a new building has is being built directly in front of the hotel, znd unless you are around floor 30 ~ 38, all you can see is a green construction 36 floor building instead of thr harbour. You can get a great view from the pool area on 39, but its just a swimming pool with no shade. There were two other issues. The initial room had no view and was the size of the queen bed plus room to shuffle sidways round the bed. The toilet and shower would barely fit a large european, and the vanity/handbasin was in the room next to the door. There was no hanging soace apart from two hooks on the wall, no drawers, and a folding tabletop whicg overhung the bed when raised. I had a discussion with the duty manager, who confirmed all rooms were the same size and she showed me some. The one on the 36th floor had a view, but was the same claustrophobic size as ours. There was an alternative of a disabled room, which was the same size, but much better laid out with the handbasin actually in the toilet area, and some shelves. The fridge in this room was so small, it was about the size of three books and held 4 cans of coke only. The Subway entrance was 100 mtrs away, but the actual train station required an underground walk of about half a kilometer. Apart from that, moving to any part of Hong Kong was cheap and easy. The breakfasts were ok, but the staff not really friendly, and things like the left hand side of the toaster not working at all, and the right hand side was a 5 minute event. In reality, the staff were limited by the property, and the buildings were well decorated, but withstained grubby carpets. The beds were hard and uncomfortable with my wife needing a back/shoulder massage after 3 days (we stayed 8 days on prepayment otherwise we would have moved. So in summary, we probably got what we paid for. The rate was low by HK standards, the staff helpful, and there was transport nearby, but the property was not as described , and pictures misleading, with tiny rooms and a contructed building blocking the view of the Harbour. Would I go back or recommend this property. Absolutely not. There are others, whilst not having much bigger rooms, in a much more central location.
