Description

Facing the fishing port of Honfleur, a quaint seaside town nestled on the Normandy coast, and historic rendezvous for artists from all around the world, the Best Western Le Cheval Blanc is located at the entrance of the old harbor of Honfleur. The harbor welcomes year round the old rigging ships and many great sailing boats. The distinctiveness of the area lays in the Upper-Normandy style houses dating from the 17th, and 18th century, that make up the banks (classified site) of the harbor. We are located between the Lower and Upper Normandy regions, and close to the D-Day landings. Deauville is just 15 minutes away, 20 minutes from Le Havre (via the Normandy bridge), and two hours from Paris via A13 Motorway. The Best Western Le Cheval Blanc invites you to stay in one of our 38 rooms, suites or studios. An efficient team will welcome you and recommend the main attractions and visits for your spare time. A breakfast buffet is served each morning in a room filled with traditions and overlooking the harbor. Enjoy your stay.

"Lovely location"
KathrynJLamp, 04 Juillet 2020

Pleasant small hotel. Great location on the harbor. Easy walking to all parts of town. Very nice breakfast and breakfast room. Helpful staff. Room was very nice and comfortable for a couple. Quiet. We loved Honfleur.

"Great location"
Brian W, 15 Mars 2020

Nice rooms, lovely breakfast, very 'french' in decor and all right in the harbour area with bars and restaurants nearby. Parking was a bit of a hike from the hotel and the road is very narrow leading to the car park. Cheaper and closer to use the public carpark next to the hotel.

"Lovely little hotel, very good service, excellent breakfast and location hard to beat"
Sara R, 23 Février 2020

We had a double room with a view over the port (just about) and a nice bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, which was a pleasant surprise as I had only asked for a bath. The room wasn't massive but it was big enough for us, a very reasonable size, with a proper wardrobe and TV. In addition, the hotel has a small hammam (sauna room) which is free for guests to use - again a very nice surprise to discover upon our arrival. The people we dealt with on reception were very professional and helpful, and let us leave our bags for free in their safe room the day we were leaving. They also told us where we could park the car for free. The breakfast was really excellent and the location of the hotel is pretty much unbeatable. All round, it was a shame that we couldn't spend another night there: Honfleur is gorgeous, a real little gem - historical and charming - and well worth a two-night stay. Don't believe anyone who tells you that you can see it all in a morning!

"Loved this one!"
Mary Catherine S, 21 Novembre 2019

This boutique hotel is quaint and cozy in a great location with lovely view of the harbor. The staff was courteous and friendly. Walked in without a reservation and were greeted with warmth and accommodated. Enjoyed very much.

"Burlington-Honfleur Sister City Charter signing"
Lise V, 08 Novembre 2019

The hotel Le Chavel Blanc staff was very helpful, and the room views amazing being on the harbor. So close to all the wonderful restaurants and great VEWS every step outside the hotel. Room was spacious and minibar well stocked. Even had champagne and nice flutes in the fridge.

"Short Stay"
Rosemary M, 02 Novembre 2019

We stayed 1 night after a cruise from Paris. Big room with great views of the harbor and nice dinner in the neighborhood. Crowds weren't bad at all. Staff very helpful. Lift. Would certainly go back again.

"Ideal Harbour location "
JJMZ, 12 Octobre 2019

We stayed in a 1st floor walk up apartment offered by the hotel with a small kitchen and sitting room with a hide-a-bed couch and a separate bedroom. It was comfortable with a terrace overlooking the harbour and park. Although it was not spotless the rooms were in good condition. The included breakfast was excellent, along with the service. What was incredible was the desk clerk service when we needed to repair and store luggage repeatedly. Very accommodating. And a brilliant location to visit Honfleur.

"Wonderful location with a beautiful view of the Marina"
707gabig, 27 Septembre 2019

We spent one night. The hotel is small, friendly reception, good breakfast. The room was a little cramped, the floor was slanted, not much room to move about but the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was newly equipped but a little shabby already.

"Great Location, Average everything else"
Yonatan_Huber, 09 Septembre 2019

The location is spot on. Great view from room, everything else is not so great. The rooms were TINY, the window isn't noise proof, so the great location becomes a liability. The hotrl reception is very nice, knowledgeable and helpful, but id limited by the poor quality of the local (it took quite a while to get an extra blanket in a double room! ) Parking is NOT INCLUDED and quite far (500m), and inconvience for larger cars.

"Great choice for short stay"
LondonTravelAgent, 04 Septembre 2019

We were pleasantly surprised at this hotel considering some of the reviews. There are no real luxury hotels in Honfleur so this seemed like a good choice and price. Location was brilliant, car park only a few minutes walk away, right by the river, lovely staff, good breakfast, very charming old hotel with crooked stairs and small rooms but the view over the river was fantastic! Bed was so big it took up most of the room and it wasn't too hot considering it was August - just open the windows! Shower fine, no bath but had everything you needed. Would definitely go back or recommend.

"Two days in Honfleur"
Iris C, 30 Août 2019

Hotel was in prime location. The room was small, clean and fine for two nights. We were overlooking the front which was very pleasant. Breakfast was good. The car park was about a 10 minute walk up a cobble stone hill, not convenient, and there was a cost. There is a 'pay and display' public car park nearby which is much more convenient which we chose to use. Front desk were friendly and helpful.

"Umm....."
martinnewman58, 29 Août 2019

A bit of a mixed review. On the positive side, the hotel's in a great location and it's not expensive. But our room faced onto the main road and was extremely noisy. There's no air con in the rooms so you need the windows open. And the place is shabby. Very shabby! But cheap....

"Wonderful location"
Elizabeth s, 21 Août 2019

Perhaps a bit rough around the edges, but if you get a room with a view of the Bassin, it is the best place to stay in all of Honfleur. The reception people are great. Everything is possible. Mateo, somehow, was able to find us a room with twin beds (rare in France) for three nights, during the middle of August! Thank you Mateo!

"Amazing view and services, Fantastic breakfast buffet"
STERNGAE, 20 Août 2019

Just loved the hotel historical building, the view from the room, the front desk services and the FANTASTIC breakfast morning buffet !!! chose a Delux room with jacuzzi with a double view of the arbor.

"Good location."
clive h, 31 Juillet 2019

Central hotel for exploring Honfleur, being only a short walk from the main harbour with all its restaurants. The hotel was clean and comfortable but was lacking air conditioning and leaving the window open didn't help to cool it down, with addition of traffic noise especially in the early morning. The staff were very helpful and the breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of hot and cold food. Beware, as the hotel doesn't have parking you have to park in one of the towns public car parks, I read the machine as 30 euros for 24 hours but when I spoke to the hotels receptionist he said that I only needed to pay for 12 hours, 10 euros, as from 8 pm to 8am is free.

"Slightly odd experience"
Dogberry1258, 17 Juillet 2019

We booked with the cheval blanc. We paid the cheval blanc on arrival. However we were told we weren't staying at the cheval blanc. Quite firmly by the first receptionist. So no help with bags - or anything. When we went back to reception, a man there was helpful. The room was actually a self catering mini apartment, which was okay. It said in the booking that there was no lift. Fine. It didn't say it was located around the corner up steep spiral stairs. The rooms were okay but dated and needed to be cleaner.

"Great location and great value"
678gw, 14 Juillet 2019

Great location in the middle of tourist center with all the bars and restaurants within a few paces of walk. We stayed int the apartment. The rooms are small but very functional and appear to be recently renovated. Great place especially for a short stay. The public parking is right across the street and you pay on the meter and place the ticket in the car. The system works perfectly. The only catch is you need to read and understand the French parking ticket.

"Best location in town"
javiaranda76, 08 Juillet 2019

I stayed in this nice hotel one night together with my wife. We were in room 217, a nice room with a view to the main street and the marina. The room itself was enough for the two of us. There is a window with a view to the marina on the main street. The restroom is on the average and the cleaning was flawless. The breakfast is pretty good and with a significant variety of food. There is also a public parking 50 meters away from the hotel. It works with a pay-by-time system. I would repeat staying in this hotel if I come back to Honfleur.

"Not worth the money"
Charlievg, 07 Juillet 2019

good situated but room had no airco, smells strange , not possible to leave window open because of streetnoise. Hygiëne was not top condition of building was average.bed was too hard The extra beds are even worse

"Best Western Le cheval blanc"
FarAway18461601142, 14 Juin 2019

Very well situated hotel with good views across harbour. Convenient for shops and restaurants. Staff very helpful. There is public, paying, 10 euros a day, car parking within a short distance. No restaurant, other than for breakfast but it doesn't really need one.

"excellent position to visit Old Honfleur / No parking at hotel or air conditioning"
Passport32546266308, 29 Mai 2019

hotel situated on edge of the harbour / great views over the old Harbour from the bedroom windows . Hotel has NO on site parking or loading / unloading area for cars . The carpark for hotel 12 euros per day is about 1/2 mile away up a very steep cobbled street . The local public carpark is 30 euros per day !! The hotel rooms are basic / no air conditioning and even in may the heat in the rooms was unbearable and impossible to have windows open at night due to the noise from the road / harbour etc Breakfast good and varied food options available Smart entrance to hotel

"walk in booking"
Beacat21, 22 Mars 2019

We were in Honfleur and decided to walk into the hotel and book a room. we paid in advance in full for the room however the following day we found they had taken almost £100.00 from our account to hold over for about 10 days!! they had not advised us they was doing this. And they refused to refund any time before the 10 days were up The rooms are comfortable but quite small

"Booze cruise"
Traveller4worldwide, 05 Décembre 2018

Friendly, clean room, very helpful pleasant staff, had the room ready well before the earliest book on time, overlooking the harbour, close parking, with wide ranging cooked breakfast at a very reasonable price. A good place to stay when in Honfleur ,we would stay again when visiting

"Honfleur"
penelope1845, 08 Octobre 2018

The hotel is very well located and the staff very helpful. Paid parking 500 meters up a steep hill was the one downside. The room was comfortable with a nice water view. US TV was almost non-existent, but wifi was good.

"Somehow quite disappointed"
Cookingforpleasure, 02 Octobre 2018

Room was rather small, not really tidy (dust on lights, stained bath...), Furnitures and equipement are low quality and.... the 324 is really noisy I had to call the lobby then Police to have this b... bar turn off his horrible and very loud music at 1 am !! Breakfast was so industrial that we avoid it It does not wotrh the money they ask

"Didn't expect much and was pleasantly suprised"
kcoelh209138, 01 Octobre 2018

I had always wanted to see Honfleurs and was able to route my trip to take it in. This hotel did not look very attractive on line but we couldn't find anything else within the town. It was fine -rooms small but the building was from the 1600 so that should be expected. They had parking (book ahead) which was great . The location was fantastic as right in the center of all the sights to see. The staff was very helpful and they did have an elevator which was a plus for the suitcases.

"Fantastic location and staff!"
janec2269PA, 27 Septembre 2018

I have to laugh at the reviews written! This is France, the rooms are always small....end of story!! I know this is a 3 Star hotel but the location and the staff make it a 5 Star! You can't beat where it is!!! Also, my view out the window was great, my room was adequate size and cleaned daily. Parking is tricky but you can walk to everything! You are in the heart of Honfleur!

"Wonderful View"
Candy2214, 19 Septembre 2018

A very nice hotel with views over the water. The room was pleasant if a little small, however it was extremely hot and they provided a fan for the night as it is a historic building and no aircon has been installed. The staff were very nice and pointed out several very good restaurants to us for a meal. We had a lovely stay, They also had private parking a little way from the hotel but very secure.

"Small apartment in the centre of town"
Liliana M, 05 Septembre 2018

We were a family of 5 adults so we booked two apartments instead of two hotel rooms as it worked out cheaper. The apartments are around the corner from the hotel. They have a double bedroom, a bathroom, separate toilet and a living room/kitchenette with a small balcony facing the street. This area also has a foldout sofa bed, but we had to push the table and chairs against the kitchenette in order to open it. The apartments are ok but we found them far too small for three adults. We hardly had room to put three suitcases (one medium and two cabin size). Parking is across the street in the public car park and cost is cheap. Hotel will give you a key to open the gate to the car park.

"Charming hotel in Honfleur"
Dave P, 02 Septembre 2018

Hotel room was pleasant, with water view. Has elevator. Reserved parking is not close so park in the public pay lot around the corner from the hotel to drop your bags. Reception will issue you a remote for the hotel lot, then hike back. Not advised for drivers with mobility issues. Hotel is very close to the vieux basin and all its restaurants. Staff is friendly.

"Truly horrendous place to stay"
BeckyUK, 28 Août 2018

Avoid this place like the plague- we would genuinely have been happier sleeping in our car. Our room was filthy, noisy and hot, with no air con. The hotel claims to offer secure parking, but it's nothing of the sort- just an outdoor, un-gated, public car park. We booked a room with a kitchen which was completely un-useable as everything was either broken and/or covered in grime. The manager was exceptionally rude and aggressive, and literally laughed when we showed him photos of the filth in our room and said that he was going to take our money whether we stayed or not. Best Western have since apologised and offered us compensation in the form of vouchers. Honfleur is beautiful. This hotel is definitely not- I can't imagine there is anywhere worse to stay in the whole town.

"Oh my gosh"
David L, 31 Juillet 2018

Do your self a favour don't bother the room was like going back to the sixties and had no air con and the shower was about as powerful as a squirt gun This place needs a complete refurb and until then please avoid

"Good value, great location"
Chuck A, 21 Juillet 2018

We had two rooms - one a very small but comfortable room overlooking the harbor in the restored old building. The second was a modern apartment about 50 yards away. Good quality and clean. The staff were moderately welcoming and told us where to park (public car park) and were efficient, but not effusive or warm. The rooms could not have been more different but both worked - one adult and three children in the apartment, one lucky adult alone in the small room. Honfleur is a delight and we didn't really care too much about the room - we only stayed 12 hours - but this seemed like a great pick in town.

"Perfect Choice"
menicci, 30 Juin 2018

When we made the booking, we were offered a double room with an extra bed for our 13-year-old daughter or a one-bedroom apartment just around the corner. Surprisingly the apartment was cheaper so we chose that and couldn't have been happier! Having the separate bedroom meant our daughter had a couple of nights away from our snoring and the kitchenette meant we could prepare food if we wanted. There was also a little balcony where we sat with a nice glass of wine in the evening. There was private, secure parking available (€12 a night if I recall correctly) but it was quite a long walk away, however with parking very difficult to get in Honfleur it was worth the walk. I would very highly recommend this apartment.

"Great Location, Spectacular Views, and Warm Staff"
CanadianCycleTravel, 26 Juin 2018

This is a superlative location for a stay in Honfleur. It is overlooking the harbour, a minute walk from the town centre but far enough away to have some privacy. The rooms are well appointment and comfortable. The staff are friendly, helpful, and always there with a warm greeting. A great place to stay in Honfleur.

"Old World Charm, Modern Conveniences"
cracklinob, 22 Juin 2018

Excellent experience for the level and price paid. Historic building on the waterfront with welcoming staff. Room was updated and spacious considering the building's age. Windows provided a great view.

"Good Location"
Gail B, 16 Juin 2018

A party of 5 people went for 4 days. We paid for Superior rooms but were disappointed with the size of these rooms and both the en-suite and separate WC had no window or extractor fan. The view was lovely but it was quite hot whilst we were there and we could not open the windows due to a lot of noise outside i.e. road sweeper in the early hours of the morning. The breakfast was not very good and after the first day we went out for breakfast.

"Very good location on the sea front, comfortable but could do with some investment in the rooms"
Scuderiaedo, 04 Juin 2018

We stayed for one night in the Erik Satie. The split level suite is great for families with the master bedroom with bathroom on the upper floor, and the sofa bed with a toilet on the lower floor in a large sitting room. Rooms are comfortable but need modernising as the old red carpets have seen better days... Breakfast was disappointing, albeit we went 30mins before closing, not a huge selection and no service as we were the only ones having breakfast! There is no A/C in the room we were in... so beware in the height of summer!

"Great location"
Saar_Va, 04 Juin 2018

We had a room on the front with superb views of the water front. Due to not been a busy time, all went well. I would take a back side room in high season time due to expected noise. Room was small but with the fair warning we got upon reservation, we didn't expect nothing else. I would recommend the highest floor, as we could hear the guest above us walking in the room since it is an old building. Breakfast was good but for the price you can enjoy many locations inside the old town less than 100m away. Parking is 200m away for 10Euro for a day. Since we arrived late at night parking was available. this is not the case during the day so plan ahead with the hotel options. You can not park in front at all, so one was left with the luggage while parking the car. The location is great, minutes away from everything in this little town. The hotel was clean and staff was nice and helpful.

"Great location...BUT"
CardiffSteveH, 03 Juin 2018

If you want to have a good night's sleep look elsewhere. We had a good room on the front with superb views of the water front and right near the shops and restaurants. However could not get to sleep until the last drunk and moped had passed around 2.0am. The room above had what sounded like a carthorse doing a clog dance because of the laminate flooring to add to the noise. I would recommend a room at the back on the highest floor (3rd). Parking was 100m away in a public car park and cost 10 euro for 24hr, the car park was lit and felt safe to leave the car overnight. Breakfast was average and the staff friendly but none of that counts if you can't get a good night's sleep.

"Best location and very comfortable"
EarthmanByron, 29 Mai 2018

Every room has a view directly out to the harbor and the hotel is just around the corner from the old harbor and many restaurants. Our room and bed were very comfortable with a modern bath. Do not be put off by the fact this is a Best Western - it's nothing like Best Westerns in the US. There are some small lodgings in Honfleur with more quaint character but none in such a great location. We were also pleased that it has an elevator.

"Lovely hotel at a very good location "
Nesligul D, 17 Mai 2018

Honfleur is a beautiful town in northwest France and was once a town frequented by painters for its fantastic lighting. This hotel overlooks the sea and is very centrally located as well. Extremely convenient with comfortable rooms, good breakfast and efficient service. We seemed to have a special room as we even had a jacuzzi. Choose a room with a sea view if possible. All restaurants, the harbor and the town itself are very close to the hotel. Very good choice if you are in Honfleur.

"Great Location...."
D H, 11 Avril 2018

We stayed in the "apartments" run by BW that are located on the street behind the hotel. These are very new, clean, and basic. It seemed they are still working the kinks out - there is no way to call the front desk of the hotel - so you need to walk over if you need something. There is paid parking under the building - but is very tight. Great location - in the middle of everything. We had a two bedroom - which was great for a fmaily of 4. Not a lot of charm - but you an get that by walking around the town.

"Not worth 3 star "
Maureen D, 24 Mars 2018

Disappointed with hotel. Lovely reception and hotel receptionist very nice her English not great , we got there in the end. Our bed stained and poor finish in room . Upgraded to a suite for 2 nights that room ok but just needed a bit of TLC . Breakfast not the best but ok . Not cheap to park . Hotel not for us .

"Pants"
paullynas62, 13 Mars 2018

Top money, nice reception, but small rooms, laminate flooring, no space, bad internet, breakfast not included and just as well as the room smells Don't bother, you are being ripped off This area is in general over priced as it is meant t be a nice area, however you are being over charged for a run down place

"Beautiful views of the harbour"
SteveM2015, 24 Février 2018

Loved our comfortable and well equipped apartment (separate from the main building) overlooking Honfleur harbour. Well located with really friendly, helpful staff. Only complaint was the lack of coffee/tea and milk in the room.

"small but nice"
TheSkeptik, 01 Janvier 2018

The hotel is well located in the old town, facing the harbor. It is built into a half-timbered structure (not seen from the outside, but in the hallways), but it does host an elevator! Rooms are small, but functional, bathroom is equipped with tub with shower. Bed is large and very comfortable. A bathrobe and slippers was provided (nice!); a well lit room (lamp fixed in the ceiling) which is really appreciated when you want to read in bed! So many hotels have bad/insufficient lighting in the rooms! Wifi (free) works well. Tea-kettle, small safe, large TV. Friendly staff all around. One thing though: what is the idea of having a door to the bathroom/toilet that has windows!? Slightly opacified, but nevertheless quite "see-through". Idiotic and somewhat embarrassing. A simple wooden door with no windows (and a better sound isolation between toilet and bedroom) would be preferable. Sorry to bring this up. No parking; loading and unloading in front of the hotel is not convenient, the street is a bit busy (but not noisy) and narrow, but a large parking lot is not far away. Altogether a nice place to stay, but a bit expensive for what you get. Even counting for the fact that Honfleur is a very attractive place to visit.

"Amazing Location"
Vivirex, 04 Octobre 2017

My husband and I stayed here for one night and chose the hotel mainly for the location. We had looked at a couple of others on the waterfront but they were booked out for the night we needed. In the end we were really happy with our choice. Finding it was a bit of an adventure due to our GPS taking us down non-existent roads and arriving mid afternoon during the weekend markets with pedestrians swarming the streets but we got there in the end. The hotel is located right on the waterfront with amazing views of the harbour. It is right in the middle of all the shops and restaurants as well as weekend markets. It doesn't have anywhere for you to pull up to drop off luggage but there is a public car park practically next door which currently costs 12 euros for 24 hours. The hotel also has a private car park but you need to book a space with them in advance. As we were only staying one night the public car park worked out well for us. The hotel was really charming, particularly in the public areas. Our room (106) was reasonably small but had a safe and mini bar and, most importantly, a really gorgeous view from our bedroom window. The bed was pretty firm (which seems common in France) and the bathroom was small but sufficient for us. The shower was really great with plenty of hot water. The few issues we would mention is that the floor squeaked, we could hear our neighbours coming and going from their room quite clearly and there is no air-conditioning so you need to have the window open if it gets a bit hot and stuffy which can be noisy. We were lucky with the weather so we were able to keep the windows shut all night and they must be double glazed because we had no issues with street noise overnight. Our mini bar fridge wasn't working very well which was an issue as we had some cheese and other items to keep cold but the hotel staff were quite happy to put a bag of our items in their fridge and it was easily retrieved on checkout the next morning. We had the buffet breakfast at the hotel which was okay but expensive compared to other places we had stayed. I have to say that all the staff we had contact with were fantastic and really helpful. Check in and check out were both really quick and easy and they held on to our luggage for us after we checked out so we could give the shops one more run before we left for our next stop. At the end of the day this is a Best Western and you are paying more for the location. We were more than happy with our experience and would stay there again.

"Great Stay"
Michelle G, 04 Octobre 2017

We stayed in an apartment with the Best Western Le Cheval Blanc, and wish we had booked our whole week there. Very clean, modern, and the staff was friendly. The next time that we are in the area, we will definitely try to get this room again. The view was overlooking the water and the park.

"Nice position"
joebloggsSouthStaffs, 11 Septembre 2017

Very good position but little hotel parking although car park opposite which was reasonable. I think all rooms have nice views. Did not have breakfast so cannot comment. Clean and staff friendly, would stay again.

"Worst European hotel I have ever stayed in"
Victoria N, 06 Septembre 2017

Horrible! They booked two rooms for us in error- one under Joe and one under Joseph. They only emailed us once with one confirmation number. We have spent the entire afternoon trying to get it cleared up. The hotel blames best western booking system and best western customer service is blaming the hotel! We have no one to go to and they refuse to show or tell us how the other room was booked! The room is not the best for the price compared to other locations we have stayed. I cannot get out of here soon enough. Very disappointed. I usually never go wrong with a Rick Steves recommendation - wished I would have trusted my instinct when I found out this was run best western.

"Position position position"
LynneMaree, 02 Septembre 2017

A perfect place to stay as it is sited on the quiet end of the harbour, walking distance to town sights, the beach, restaurants and just about everywhere you want to go in Honfleur. The room was perfectly suited to our needs and the views were wonderful. The staff were helpful and provided excellent advice. The only improvement would be air con on the hot nights.

"Wonderful hotel incredible location and full of character "
Graham L, 01 Septembre 2017

Absolutely adored this place. In the last few years they have spent a lot doing it up but have retained all the ancient character of the building and the place looks gorgeous. It also had by far the best location in Honfleur being right by the old harbour. It has a secure car park but it's a bit of a walk. They also have family rooms. We stayed in the Erik Satie Suite which is on two floors. Very spacious. Very high spec.

"Very Disappointed!"
Carol A, 28 Août 2017

I wouldn't stay here again. We have stayed in some lovely hotels in France and this was the most expensive. With that in mind we were expecting a nice room. Instead our room was dated, drab, small and damp. We had also requested a cot for our baby and it was in such a bad state we couldn't use it. Honestly the paint was flaking off. When I asked at reception for a replacement the receptionist said she would go up and clean it !!! The view was amazing and the best part of the hotel.

"A place to stay with friends and lovely view"
bugling_8, 27 Août 2017

Since my last visit three years ago, it looks as if the whole hotel has been redecorates and I found it a much nicer stay. I had booked a room with a view over the mouth of the Seine and plenty of activity around the town. You have a minibar and breakfast but no other drinks or food. But you are in Honfleur and there is so much around to enjoy, this was not a problem. Found the staff to be very good and helpful.

"Mixed review but still a wonderful Hotel"
M0ZGirl, 17 Août 2017

We loved this Hotel for 2 nights but did have a couple of issues. The internet is awful and unusable at peak times. Our shower was of the floppy variety which seems all to common in European hotels and makes having a decent shower very difficult. Otherwise we really enjoyed our stay and thought the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Best in France so far! The rooms are delightful and really comfortable and reasonably spacious. The location is exceptional with lovely views of the water and the town not even a minutes walk. The car parking nearby was really close and easy to use and costs 10EU per day. Wonderful Hotel so hopefully they will make the internet more of a priority and they will score top marks every time.

"CHOSEN FOR LOCATION & ONE NIGHT LONG ENOUGH"
dixie192, 12 Août 2017

Stayed last year using hotel parking which is difficult to find due to one way system. This year used public parking but initially didn't realise that the 10 euro cost would cover 24 hours from arrival. Staff very particular that no-one can check in until after 15:00, but will store luggage. Breakfast is now available on site which is new from last year plus tea and coffee making facilities and a mini bar. Room comfortable but airless and noisy with the window open. However, a good base to walk to the numerous bars and restaurants this quaint french harbour town can offer

"Helpfully unhelpful!"
Nicksreview, 19 Juillet 2017

Central, noisy location. The hotel sits on the corner of one of the main vehicle arteries to the town centre. The harbour view is over the commercial part of the docks. The constant traffic noise combined with the lack of air conditioning makes this a 'b' list choice. The staff are superb at placating customer issues but I'm not sure of their willingness to resolve them. There is an atmosphere of "we can fill the rooms ten times over" which in my opinion has much more to do with the limited accommodation available rather than reputation based demand. For all that the rooms are clean and fitted out to an acceptable level, even if mine had the most ridiculous designer bed, judging by the damage to it I judge that many have collided with its pretentious protrusions! I advise you look for an alternative before settling for this one.

"Great location"
Zonesystem, 09 Juillet 2017

Located bang in the harbour, very centrally located. Parking about 100 m away - public,at € 10 / 24 h. No unloading bay infront of hotel so had to schlep our baggage all the way from our car . Our room/ apartment was in an adjacent building. No lift, narrow stairs. But clean airy room apart from no cleaning during our two night stay. Breakfast € 13. Basic, but very friendly staff.

"Great location, average hotel"
Doug K, 28 Juin 2017

Chose this hotel for the location which is right off the water. Rented two rooms both which had excellent views. Honfleur is a really nice small French town on the water, but it is busy. The hotel is within walking distance from the old harbor, and parking was right around the corner. It was hot and the room did not have A/C so windows open. Ate breakfast at the harbor which has better options.

"Could do better"
Liz N, 25 Juin 2017

Booked a parking space but on the day not available as apparently could not be accessed! Room not made up on arrival so was given an alternative, good size room. Guest info said reception could be contacted 24/7, by hotel phone but no phone in the room. Choice of breakfast but some fruit in bowl for cheaper choice was mouldy.

"nice suite"
openhorizon, 21 Juin 2017

Great for families, clean and well positioned! Nice view to the harbor for and close to all attractions in Honfleur. Tip: if you get a suite, it sleeps four. con: no elevator to rooms. overall: great place to stay

"Great position but a few negatives"
mhcs, 21 Juin 2017

I was with a group and we stayed at the Cheval Blanc on sunday 18th June. The Hotel is in a great place on the port but has very limited parking although there is public parking nearby. We had some quite expensive cars with us and we would have preferred private parking and wouldn't have minded paying for it. It was very hot and there was no air conditioning in the Hotel which l found surprising so we had to have all of the windows open and with the proximity to the port and the bars it was very noisy. Plus points were the room was very nice and very clean and the staff were nice too. There was no bar either for an end of the day drink. As l stated it's in a great position but l think there are better options in the town.

"Great Location, hotel average."
James K, 20 Juin 2017

We were given an apartment, don't remember booking that. It was a very rainy day and the apartment was not adjacent to the hotel reception. We parked in the city lot, fee based, then dragged our luggage in the rain to the apartment entrance and up the creaky stairs. The apartment was good size with a small balcony looking over the harbor. The view was the best part of this stay. The apartment was spartan in furnishings, the bedroom was a bit small, but because of the sitting/kitchen area, we had enough room. There were just the two of us. A family with little children and a dog were in the apartment above us. The noise was unbelievable. They moved furniture scraping it across the floor, the kids ran around the rooms screaming, and the dog barked a couple of times. They did quiet down about midnight:thirty. If you stay here and need a hair dryer, get it the night before. I had to run in the rain to the reception desk to retrieve one. I also recommend that you check your bill carefully as they attempted to charge me again for the room that I had pre-paid and for breakfasts we did not eat.

"Convenient Hotel"
Eric L, 18 Juin 2017

This is a very nice place to stay if you are in Honfleur. It is centrally located near the old port and has all the right amenities. Easy walking distance to any sight you want to see in the old town and easy to get to and out of. You can either pay to park in a lot just up the road, or you can go another couple hundred yards down the road to park for free in the lot of the nature park. All in all, would recommend a stay here.

"Perfect location"
Stewart R, 14 Juin 2017

Booked a quayside view, stayed in June so it was hot on a few nights. No air conditioning so had the window open - big mistake, quite noisy from traffic and people singing/shouting in the early hours from outside, not to mention the local council starting to empty bottle bins at 5am. AirCon would be a great boon! Hotel is clean and comfortable, breakfast buffet is excellent, plenty of choice. Location on the quayside is second to none. It is 590m to the hotel car park, but feels further! It's also quite a tricky drive up narrow streets through throngs of people. As it's only 10 euros to park around the corner, I'd suggest this as an alternative. Receptionist very helpful. Wifi problematic, connection to wifi straightforward, some apps work, but couldn't connect through others or the browser. Error suggests a DNS issue, used a VPN to the UK and it worked, reception didn't offer much help on this technical issue. Would we stay again - definitely, recommended, but keep your window closed to avoid the late night traffic and reveller noise.

"An Old Creepy Hotel Not Up to Best Western Standards"
michaelwV6179BQ, 12 Juin 2017

Location is the only plus. Otherwise: Rude, dumb inefficient staff. Old stink throughout. Floors on an angle. Bed slants back. No AC. Elevator a safety hazard. No parking. Noise all night from motorcycles on the street and you better keep windows open or die from the heat. Takes 26 minutes and multiple phone calls for staff to to check you in and check out. Shamin on you Best Western for lending your brand to this dump.

"Waterfront Hotel"
BettyAnne_12, 10 Juin 2017

Our view was lovely over the port but of course an open window ( no air conditioning!!) brought lots of noise. Voices, mopeds, noisy buses below...but still worth the view. Who knew it was going to be 90 degrees the beginning of June! We were on the first floor...maybe a higher floor would have been better. Travel with ear plugs!!

"quality to price ratio not satisfactory "
iaf_22, 06 Juin 2017

150 euros per night for week-end of ascension. it's barely 2 times too expensive for what we got. Small room without any ventilation, nor air conditioning nor heating. you'll have to try and regulate tempurature through the only window of the room. If it's too hot, hotel can provide a fan upon request, however with 28 degrees Celsius outside (and inside the room ) , it's hard to achieve a temperature good enough for a comfortable sleep. Bathroom pretty small with smell of humidity, shower cabin pretty small too. overall furniture cheap and only 1 plug on 1 side of the bed. If location isn't your priority, then you'd better chose a cheaper 2 star hotel which will provide same quality of comfort. The hotel offer a few parking spot some hundreds meters from the hotel (I think for around 12 euros per day). Hovewer, know that at the same distance, you can find an outside FREE parking (next to Naturospace)

"Tired looking room"
Jules B, 27 Mai 2017

Spent one night here at the end of a road trip through France. Turned out to be the worst hotel of our stay but the most expensive. The room was small and looked tired and in need of modernisation. The bed was very low and not very comfortable. The only thing going for this hotel is it's central location in Honfleur. Parking is 5 mins walk away and costs 10 Euro a night.

"Perfect location - can hear every footstep above and beside you from other rooms"
GlobalExrcz, 26 Mai 2017

Not sure you can get a better location where you wake up every morning to a postcard view of the charming port and city. I was fortunate the person above me was a work colleague so we happened to go to sleep and wake up at similar times. Bring earplugs? I will just "tell it like it is" in this review. I was on the second floor. My room was in the main hotel facing the harbor and it was like a college dorm room - but the queen size bed was comfortable and clean. There seems to be less hot water in the evening than the morning for the shower. Towels are about half the size of a normal bath towel and if you are there alone as I was - they provide just one towel and a hand cloth . Mid week my "do not disturb" sign disappeared and the house keeper entered my room despite me hanging the sign outside the door in the morning. Breakfast is 14.5 euros a day and adequate - with relatively high quality standards including dried and fresh fruits, cheeses, smoked salmon, eggs - it doesn't seem they cook breakfast to order as the kitchen is minimal and the front desk person does double duty setting up the breakfast in the morning. The front desk employees were always helpful and although I speak French - each could speak English quite well. One of my coworkers was placed in an "apartment" around the corner from the main hotel entrance where there was no elevator but she had a small kitchenette - she was on the third floor. Halls, elevators, and rooms are relatively small so best to pack lightly for this hotel. A colleague did receive a board/iron upon request. There is no gym in this hotel. There was a hotpot and a refrigerator in the room with a "mini bar" the refrigerator was barely cool with no ability to adjust the temperature. There are lots of shops and restaurants and so much to see within a walk from the hotel. There is a good pharmacy around the corner. The streets are cobblestone for the most part - avoid heals. The hotel itself is not quaint but the town is adorable and the food is outstanding (avoid restaurants that are open around the clock in spite of having to wait until 8 pm to eat dinner everywhere else). The wait is worth it. Wifi works well in this hotel and is included in the the room.

"Average"
Drford, 23 Mai 2017

Good location near the centre of town, staff very helpful. Rooms very small. Breakfast, efficient service though not a wide selection. Not a place to stay in the summer, no air conditioning so you have to open your windows and the noise from the bars, traffic and passersby is excessive.

"Great location; easily accessible"
Winequine, 17 Mai 2017

We were able to reserve a Queen Apartment and were very happy with the accommodation. There is 12 Euro parking offered by the hotel; while the 500 meters distance away was not an issue - not being able to find the garage/lot, was a problem. There was street parking and plenty of spots in the parking lot, also for 12 Euros for 24 hours, so it was not a problem. We did not eat the breakfast. The Internet worked well. It's a GREAT location! The bed was too hard for us-

"Close to Everything"
JacquesLD, 14 Mai 2017

The location could not have been better. Just out the door and we were a few steps from the Vieux Bassin. Honfleur is a beautiful town with meandering old streets and shops to browse in. The hotel was charming. . Paying breakfast was nicely served in a elegant second floor room. Staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel's own gated paying parking is barely a 10 minute walk.

"4 Star Location Near Public Parking"
susiesusie, 08 Mai 2017

We stayed here in April 2017 for 2 nights. The hotel itself and rooms (small but efficient) are 3 star; the location makes it 4 star, and in Honfleur you can't enjoy the experience of being "in Honfleur" more than in this location on the inner harbor. Book a room with a harbor view---whatever the cost! My caveat is do not consider parking in the hotel's lot, which is an uphill hike, not at all convenient, and very difficult to locate. Park in the public parking which is very close to the hotel, and very reasonable. The hotel staff is very helpful and attentive. We would never stay anywhere else!

"Nice room..."
Screenofrobert, 24 Avril 2017

Well, it didn't have a bar or restaurant, but it had a nice breakfast room, and the bedrooms were very nice. The hotel does not have a bar or lounge, but there are plenty locally... and very nice too.

"Great hotel in a superb location. "
Henry C, 15 Avril 2017

My partner and I stayed here on two separate occasions on our trip to France. A great clean and friendly hotel right in the middle of the town and only 100yds from a car park (10 euro for 24 hours) both times the service was excellent. On the second occasion we decided to upgrade our room for an extra £30 and we got a lot more for our money! I would 100% recommend to stay at this hotel, and we will stay again!

"First visit to Honfleur "
WiganLancashire, 04 Avril 2017

My partner and myself stayed in Honfleur as part of the Brittany Ferries holiday deal. This hotel is perfectly situated overlooking the harbour in the delightful town of Honfleur. The room overlooked the marina and was clean, comfortable and tastefully furnished. Breakfast is served until 11am which is great when on holiday, this was continental or English and was of a good standard. Staff pleasant and attentive. This hotel is excellent for anyone wishing to spend time in Honfleur.

"great hotel in honfleur"
alwynt, 29 Mars 2017

Hotel staff very attentive , excellent location , short walk to the restaurants and the harbour. Great wee pub round the corner . Hotel parking is a bit of a dander , but there is a public park across the road . Parking is free after 6pm . Hotel breakfast was excellent . Honfleur is a beautiful town . Not too far from the normandy beaches .

"A "Mini" Adventure to Honfleur"
GJWBrown, 26 Février 2017

We decided that a few days away in France was needed. We caught the night ferry from Portsmouth and got to Honfleur in time for breakfast. We were booked into Chevalier Blanc, Best Western. We had a fantastic room with a view over the harbour. To wake up a look across the harbour was great. This was not our first time in Honfleur and our third stay at the Chevalier Blanc. It will certainly will not be the last. As we arrived before check in they still took our bags and directed us for parking. As always the service is excellent. They also guided us on where to eat and booked the table. We had a most enjoyable time and will return soon.

"Lovely room overlooking the port"
europhile46, 21 Décembre 2016

Such a convenient location, just off the main drag and without the noise of being beside the large port basin. This hotel offers comfort and friendly service. It also has a car park, although this is up a steep hill, about 15 minutes walk from the hotel, at 12 euros a day. If you haven't done your research of Honfleur, you would be unaware that there are closer car parks for much less money. However, once you have expressed within your booking an interest in parking, details are emailed to you and you will be charged, whether or not you use the facility! Breakfast is good, although it would be preferable for items such as cheese to be under a cover, thus unavailable for the flies to nibble.

"Good value"
cherylaLosAngeles, 18 Novembre 2016

This hotel was in a great location, everything within walking distance. Buffet breakfast was good and plentiful. The room was spacious and clean with two Wifi plug-ins. We had a room facing the harbor but it was quiet. There's no parking at the hotel. We had to park a few blocks away which was no problem for us…we're walkers..but others might have a problem. A good value.

"D day"
Marco L, 06 Novembre 2016

Great hotel, witha wonderful service, the city is really beautiful and where Eugene, the painter, who started the Impressionism was from Honfleur, very interesting city history and not so faraway from the D-day landing places in 1945. The city is Close to greats oysters farmers, very instructive. The hotel is in front of the Harboe, nice view, and few steps to the center of the city. Great rooms, fantastic breakfasts, with a great service mindset employees.

"Location!"
KarenNO, 14 Septembre 2016

What a lovey hotel. We arrived there straight off a cruise, just after 9 to drop off our luggage as check isn't til 3pm. The lovely receptionist immediately promised that our room would be cleaned as a priority so we would be able to check in earlier, she then offered us a different room (same price) as that was already vacated and could be ready by 11. It was so nice to be able to check in that early, we really appreciated it. The room we were given was very spacious and comfortable with a great view!. Would definitely recommend this hotel if you are staying in Honfleur.

"Amazing stay in Honfleur"
Joelle G, 06 Septembre 2016

This hotel on the waterfront is excellent. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the rooms were spacious, very clean and the bed was comfortable. The view of the port from the windows was picture perfect. My room, 323, was one of the best in which I have stayed during my frequent trips to France. An excellent experience.

"Great little annexe studio "
Heidi C, 04 Septembre 2016

Lovely separate studio apartment for a family of 4 with a great view of harbour with balcony. Stayed as a stopover for one night on route to Brittany .Very central and crisp modern decor. Main Hotel is also beautifully decorated and staff are very polite. No air con so maybe ask for fan in hot weather. Would reccomend and definitely Honfleur as a stopover .

"Short stay in Honfleur"
Roger E, 27 Août 2016

Reception makes the hotel look much nicer than it is. First room we were offered had a giant crack in the wardrobe door. We asked for another room and this was offered eventually and begrudgingly. But the receptionist made it obvious the he thought we were being fussy. Rooms comfortable but dated. Wifi signal comes and goes. For the price I would have expected air conditioning but instead we had to have the windows open on a very hot August evening. As the hotel is on a very busy road this made for a very poor night's sleep. Honfleur is delightful and worth a visit. This hotel is not.

"Lovely staff - all else disappointing"
phylisbide, 25 Août 2016

Very smart reception area with charming, helpful staff. Breakfast excellent. Stairs and corridors up together. Downhill thereafter. We were on third floor (all rooms seem to face front) and views of Honfleur lovely. Our room was noisy (pigeons on roof, much nighttime activity collecting bins, emptying of bottles from bars into skips) bedroom window only open a bit because of pigeons flying towards the roof - bedding and towels appalling - should have been washed at higher temp to get rid of evidence of previous residents - and the towels were so thin they should only have been for floor cloths - all quite shocking for the room rate - best western need to get a grip here - someone is cutting corners. Clean and tidy but....

"Overnight stay in Honfleur"
stephen b, 23 Août 2016

What a great place full of old world charm, everything at your finger tips, once you have parked your car. Very busy but full of restaurants and different cuisines. Harbour boat trips every 40 mins. Pony and trap rides around the town.

"Very central"
travelleryorks, 16 Août 2016

A good find this right in the middle of Honfleur - everywhere is walkable, vast range of restaurants surround hotel. Very clean and tidy well-run place, very old building but tastefully contemporary. Public or hotel parking nearby. Highly recommend.

"Think twice about booking in the summer "
617redsox, 12 Août 2016

I booked this hotel because I read the reviews about the great location and the view of the harbor. The views are lovely but think twice if booking in the summer because the rooms are Very hot and you will definitely need to sleep with the windows open. Even with the windows open, it was still uncomfortable and this was on a day that wasn't particularly warm. The noise prevented everyone in my family from sleeping. We live in a city and are used to noise but it was incredibly loud listening to trucks rumble past throughout the night and pedestrians on the waterfront. I might consider the hotel in the fall / winter but in the summer, without air conditioning, I would look for other options.

"Great central location, dogs accepted, but hot and noisy"
Magali J, 28 Juillet 2016

We arrived without a booking in high season and there was still different room types available. We are traveling with dog and were turned away at other places in town, the best western accepted us with our pooch. Our superior room overlooking the harbour was nice and clean and the bed was comfy. The view is great I have to admit but we were less impressed at 23:00 at night when we wanted to sleep and there was a live rock concert in a café beneath our window. Since the room gets to hot with closed windows we had to leave them open and could hear the concert, the people having a great time in the street, the cars rolling at all hours over the pavement, the garbage truck collecting glass at 5 in the morning... I didn't have any earplugs and didn't get much sleep. The town is lovely and we enjoyed it very much. It is a good idea however to park at a free parking (there is one at 500m from the BW) and have a central hotel so that you don't worry about parking fees if you stay more days. (10€ for 12 hours at the most paying parking lots)

"Good location with great views"
Paul D, 28 Juillet 2016

Located in the old centre of town overlooking the quays you would be hard stretched to find a better hotel. The private parking is quite a way out and I'd question the value of paying the charge for this. We were there for the Bastille day celebrations and had a superb view from our room window. If you can ask for a room with a view it's well worth it.

"Pleasant enough but needs air conditioning"
SEPLondon, 27 Juillet 2016

This hotel is in a central location overlooking part of the harbour. Parking can be booked through the hotel for 12E a day but it's a few minutes drive away up a very narrow road. It's quite a noisy area but the windows must be double glazed as it was fine when they were closed. Unfortunately in the summer the room gets quite warm and with no air conditioning you really need the windows open! We knew the hotel didn't have a/c but thought that perhaps it wouldn't need it - it's probably fine most of the year but the weather was warm during our stay. The hotel is ok, nothing special really. For example, the towels were small and thin, the sofabed in our room was beige and grubby, the shower cubicle was very small, breakfast was fairly basic (unpleasant sausages and egg, basic orange juice not freshly squeezed, weak coffee etc). Nevertheless it was a good base for a couple of days and not particularly expensive. Honfleur is a delightful place with lots of restaurants around the harbour. It's worth trying the restaurants away from the harbour too. We found everyone very friendly and had good service wherever we went. Honfleur also has a large attractive park, public pool and tennis courts which we used (book through the tennis club next to the courts). You can walk to a small beach - about 15-20 minutes pleasant walk by the sea or through the park. There are some nice looking places nearby which we drove through en route and it's not far from Deaville - a large, bustling seaside town which isn't as pretty as Honfleur but has a good beach and plenty to do.

"Great location and great staff!"
Sharon O, 20 Juillet 2016

We stayed one night in the Apartment just round the corner from the hotel, there were three of us and it is small nut lovely, with a balcony and a great view. We had also prebooked parking which is a distance away but you can unload luggage easily so not a problem. The man at reception was extremely friendly and helpful. We loved Honfeur and wished we were staying longer! Two small items with the apartment, there was no air con and it was very hot, but in fairness night we stayed it was much hotter than normal temperatures. Also it would have been useful to have a few teabags and coffee as you would have in a hotel room. Just small things, overall our experience was fantastic!

"Great location with spectacular view, but no AC."
Sharon D, 16 Juillet 2016

While our room was fairly basic, it was spacious and clean -- and the location was terrific. Our room overlooked the beautiful basin, with the carosel in the distance. It did cool off at night. The best thing about this hotel is the hotel staff at the front desk. They couldn't have been more helpful in recommending restaurants -- all of which were excellent. Parking was a problem because it was a holiday weekend. One of the staff even offered to give us her parking space when she left for the day. The location was terrific for walking this charming town.

"North West France road trip 2016"
Colin T, 15 Juillet 2016

Good location right at the edge of the main town. Great views over the water from our rooms. It wasn't part of our plan but it was bastille day whilst we were there and we saw the festivities and fireworks from our room.

"Nice view & central location."
John H, 24 Mai 2016

We stayed 2 x nights, our room was cosy & had a good view across the port, it was a relaxing place, the front desk staff especially Pauline were very helpfull, going above & beyond to assist us with concerns caused by rail/ferry & petrol strikes.

"Clean, quiet and convenient"
Emma R, 20 Mai 2016

We stayed at the guest apartments. The room was spacious, clean and located just on the shoreline with a lovely view. There was no elevator, but this had been clearly stated on their webpage so that was alright. The wifi worked wonderfully.

"We love Honfleur."
RICKOklahoma-usa, 16 Mai 2016

Great stay with our group of 11. Great location right on the water and the staff was excellent with all of our needs. Parking right across the street. Would definitely stay there again. Rick/ Oklahoma USA

"Great choice in Honfleur"
Cindy H, 25 Avril 2016

Had a lovely room overlooking the harbour. Perfectly located for visiting Honfleur. Could easily walk to the shops and restaurants. Room was a good size, quiet and well appointed. Bed and bedding was comfortable. Breakfast was available but we declined. They had parking for a fee in their own private garage about six blocks away. You were able to pull up in front of the hotel to load and unload luggage so it wasn't an issue.

"Very uncaring staff!"
joseyclare, 16 Avril 2016

Was meant to be a thank you to my parents for supporting with childcare and a relaxing family break. We arrived on the Saturday after Good Friday, the next day, dad slipped in the shower and fell and broke his rib in two places. The support from the receptionist, at the time of the accident, was diabolical - shrugging her shoulders and stating that it was Easter Sunday and there was no service available to help my dad who was crying out in pain. My mum was passed the phone directory by the receptionist and told to call someone - my mum doesn't speak French. After persisting, the receptionist called the fire brigade who then took him to hospital - where he spent the remainder of his holiday. The worst thing about this was that no one asked us how he was! Very disappointed and a shame as have had some lovely holidays in Honfleur. Will definitely not be returning to this hotel!

"France 2016!"
Laura S, 10 Avril 2016

GREAT location! Great value! plenty of room - we booked a triple room and it was just fine. Traveling with our teen was a little tricky but this was a great spot with a lovely view. The teen was able to unwind at the hotel and meet us later. Good breakfast. Very helpful staff!

"Good value, nothing special"
tomofboston, 03 Avril 2016

Family of four took two rooms, side by side. Views were over the harbor, "but not the prettier side" as one of our party said. Still, good sized rooms, friendly staff, great location, didn't break the bank.

"LOVELY STAY"
destinyschild, 23 Février 2016

Stayed in one of the apartments just around the corner from the foyer entrance. It was clean well appointed and comfortable for the 3 of us. $ adults would have been cramped but for 2/3 its fine. The sofa in the living room is the second bed and once up leaves little space to get to the kitchen area. Ask at reception for clean towels as the apartment isn't cleaned every day.

"Lovely hotel in the heart of Honfleur"
Flo345, 02 Janvier 2016

The hotel is right on the harbor in tge centre of town. We had a lovely sea view triple room. The hotel has recently been refurbished and even boasts a steam room on the second floor. Staff was friendly and breakfast in our room was amazing. Rates were reasonable. Would definitely return.

"Small rooms but the service outweighs the downsize."
Doc1213, 25 Novembre 2015

The staff is extremely accommodating and we chose a room overlooking the Honfleur harbor. Beautiful view and quite close to restaurants, shops and galleries. The breakfast is as close to American as you will find. Buffet of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, breads, coffee, etc. Wonderful little hotel and part of the Best Western Hotels.

"The town is literally on your front step..."
Janet E, 13 Novembre 2015

Best Western Hotel Le Cheval Blanc is in a very good, central, location from which to explore Honfleur on foot (the only way you can really). The town is literally on your front step. The staff were friendly and considerate. The room was surprisingly spacious, had a first-rate view of the harbor, very nice decor and was clean and comfortably appointed. The only negative about it was the parking. It's quite a hike to their private parking (you should reserve a parking space with them in advance) but you can drop off your luggage in front of the hotel first. Read the parking info carefully and you won't have a problem. The parking is a small nuisance when you consider everything else and it is not their fault. In a small, medieval town with narrow twisty streets like Honfleur space is at a real premium and I applaud the hotel for having any parking arrangements at all for their guests. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

"Best View in Honfleur"
hendenne, 07 Novembre 2015

If you are not bothered by some traffic noise at night, and don't mind parking in a public pay car park just 40 meters across the road then Le Cheval Blanc could be the Honfleur hotel for you. We stayed in the Alphonse suite which was large and comfortable. The reception team were excellent especially Mylene who is one of the most helpful front desk persons I have met. As you will see on the map, the hotel is directly adjacent to the water centre of Honfleur which is a real delight, unless it's high season when it is very very busy. Thank you Mylene for your excellent help.

"It could have been nice.."
Gunnel M, 04 Novembre 2015

Reception very unfriendly and uninterested in helping. Hotel information misleading in saying ‘safe car park nearby'. The car park was not safe, with the gate unlocked, and certainly not nearby being 500 meters from the hotel through extremely narrow streets totally unsuitable for cars. Despite Honfleur being a complete tourist trap with the harbour area absolutely packed with restaurants, there was nowhere to eat between 3-6 PM, including room service in the hotel that also was shut when all restaurants were closed. What could have been a fantastic experience of an old French fishing town turned instead into a long wait for dinner that in the end was spoiled by too many peanuts and crisps to keep the hunger away until we finally could eat after a whole days unwanted fast. Will not have happy memories of Honfleur.

"Great location and enjoyable stay"
Steve C, 01 Novembre 2015

Stayed one night attracted by location and a reasonable price for a sea/harbour view. Reception staff good and efficient. Room is quite small so not really 'superior' but does have a nice view. Looking at the fire plan then most of the rooms are a similar size so photos on Expedia a little flattering. Room and bathroom well fitted out - plenty of clothes space and even lots of coat hangers. Main problem with room was it was hot - no air conditioning so we left the windows open. Breakfast was pretty good for 13eur - better selection than usual French continental breakfast. They do have parking but we had already parked in public car park which is slightly cheaper. If you do want to park then you have to reserve which is a good idea because parking is tricky everywhere. Honfleur great and location is a good way to enjoy it

"wonderful location in beautiful town"
SuzyDimm, 31 Octobre 2015

As a last minute booking and based on good reviews on TA we stayed here for our one night in Honfleur. Location is amazing. You basically pay for the location although even this is good value. Our room overlooked the port and we could easily walk to a huge array of restaurants. Couple of no nos for a hotel. There were no towels in the room and we had to go and ask for them and no toiletries in bathroom. However staff friendly and the location was worth the other little problems so we would stay here again.

"Great Views"
Dorothea R, 27 Octobre 2015

A lovely hotel with fabulous views of the harbour. Our room was beautifully decorated. Clean and comfortable. Mini bar. Tea and coffee making facilities. View of hotel from across the harbour and a picture from our hotel window. Really friendly staff. Would happily stay here again. It's a little more expensive than some but really lovely.

"Pleasant hotel in stunning location"
Staffsmartin, 26 Octobre 2015

Very pleasant hotel in a stunning location close to Honfleur centre and harbour. The rooms were small but very clean and well appointed with nice en-suits. The staff were friendly and the buffet breakfast was good. A good place to explore the delights of this fabulous place

"Perfect location in wonderful harborside old town"
Kathy - Todd R, 23 Octobre 2015

Everything about Cheval Blanc was excellent. The staff was all friendly, the rooms all face the front harborside view, and the location is central for wandering the harbor and old town. It is an older hotel, but all modern conveniences so the perfect combination of old and new.

"Perfect location in Honfleur"
Macman1940, 22 Octobre 2015

This hotel is in a perfect location right on the water in Honfleur. You can walk out the door and see an amazing view that inspired painters through the centuries. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Parking is available in the public lot across the street up to 24-hours at a time.

"Great view - wonderful town"
Michael R, 19 Octobre 2015

The town is a classic seaside village - with plenty of shopping and a million restaurants. The hotel is right in the middle of it all - on the water, with a great view of the harbor and town square. And just a 10 min walk to the beach. There's a nice steam room with plenty of towels and bathrobes. The staff was friendly and helpful, and spoke perfect English.

"Amazing hotel"
TriciaandBill, 19 Octobre 2015

Le Cheval Blanc is in a lovely position right by the harbour. The rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast is amazing. Some of the best scrambled eggs we have eaten. The only slight annoyance is the distance to the car park, an interesting walk though.

"Perfect Location for one night"
nytours, 12 Octobre 2015

We toured Normandy and spent one night at the Best Western. Location was perfect. Town is charming and we walked and walked. We parked car in lot 2 minutes away. Close to everything. Room was very clean and bright. Front desk was professional and courteous. Terrific hotel for the price.

"Fantastic Location"
Marie C, 04 Octobre 2015

The hotel is in a fantastic location, you couldn't ask for better. Stunning views of the harbour from our room and right in the centre of things. Very friendly reception staff. But the rooms could do with some updating - our en-suite smelt of mould and a lick of paint wouldn't hurt. We breakfasted by the port so have no comment regarding breakfast. Honfleur is a delight and I'm sure we'll visit there again.

"Great location, but..."
Peter B, 02 Octobre 2015

The location is really good but our superior room wasn't very big and there were a fair few petty irritations, e.g. Hot water took ages, the floor was uneven and the wardrobe sloped into the room. The staff were generally friendly but the guy on duty when we arrived some hours before three (when rooms are available) just said you've got to wait. The hotel car park is 500m away so budget 10 EU a day for the public car park.

"One night stay"
Bonaire2015, 24 Septembre 2015

We love this hotel! Location, staff, rooms, service ! They have recently renovated the lobby. rooms are next. Get a room with the harbor view, well worth the small extra fee. Our 5+ time and will return for sure.

"Excellent Position"
charlie8863, 20 Septembre 2015

We stayed in an apartment owned by Cheval Blanc which was right next door to the hotel. It was quite new and had every thing you needed such as microwave fridge and oven. The view from the balcony was terrific. There is parking just opposite but you have to pay but if you go about five hundred yards towards Deauville there is plenty of free parking. We booked with Booking.com and they give the address of the apartment but you have to book in at Le Cheval Blanc.I have informed Booking.com of this mistake and hope they change the booking in address .

"Where's breakfast?"
Davidether, 14 Septembre 2015

They put us in a very small room. Forget the cat. After we complained , they put is in a lovely corner room with views of the harbour. If you arrive by car, be prepared for a long walk from the local car park, for which you have to pay.. Be down early for breakfast, otherwise nothing gets replaced. Tables are never cleared, No extra cutlery or plates. This hotel doesn't have a bar or restaurant. Staff are lovely, but we would never stay here again. A real let down for a Best Western Hotel.

"Honfleur from the 3rd floor"
Nicholas D, 12 Septembre 2015

And what a great view across the harbour - not quite across the old Bassin - but enough to capture the spirit of Honfleur, the carousel and the illuminated big wheel. So, a lovely location a stone's throw away from the heart of the town and its myriad eateries. A pleasant and quirky bedroom - glass panels in the door to the en-suite facilities don't leave much to the imagination! - but very comfortable and clean. Just a one-night stay for us (without breakfast - our choice) but Le Cheval Blanc lives up to Best Western's high standards as regards amenities and staff, and retains its individual character without feeling at all corporate and "chainy". The secure car park is situated a good 10-minute walk from the hotel and won't be to everyone's taste, especially in inclement weather - it's quite a challenging drive to reach it via the old town too! - but there's a perfectly adequate public car park (metered) behind the hotel.

"visit 8th September 3 nights"
Ray P, 11 Septembre 2015

If you just want a few days away in a pleasant area and first class hotel then stay here. Get a harbor view its worth it right in the town so little walking to shop or eat. Clean and attractive rooms, nice style and very well presented reception where you will be met with a smile and efficient simple check in. Its a very busy access area as the day livens up and parking is arranged through the Hotel or only two minutes away. Restaurants in abundance around a very pretty marina so the Hotel is well positioned. We will stay again.

"Lovely hotel."
PhiljLichfield, 09 Septembre 2015

We have just spent 2 nights at the Cheval Blanc in Honfleur. Firstly the hotel is spotlessly clean and the rooms really well appointed with tea/coffee making in all rooms. The staff were friendly and professional. We didn't eat there so cannot comment on the food. The position of the hotel was a mixed blessing. It was right on the outer harbour and absolutely perfect for exploring Honfleur, being only minutes away from everything. Later at night it did get a little noisy outside which may upset some. Overall Honfleur is a wonderful place to visit and we would definitely stay at the Cheval Blanc again.

"2nd stay. Love it"
timnicebutdim, 09 Septembre 2015

Having stayed here before (about 10 years ago) we decided to return. Location great, the hotel has had a face lift to a good standard and is clean and tidy. We didn't use any of the facilities but noticed they now have a massage / treatment room onsite. If you're looking to avoid the Novotel / Ibis type hotel, definitely recommended if you need somewhere to stay in Honfleur.

"Perfect position"
Loraine S, 01 Septembre 2015

The room we had was 'Superior' which you pay extra for .. But it was worth it. We were right by the port within easy access to the town and the view must be the best in town. Honfleur iis full of interesting things to see.. We really enjoyed the art galleries. There are countless very attractive restaurants, many serving fresh fish including moules and frit, which were delicious. The bus station is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel but get a timetable from the tourist info as they are not very frequent. We had a very nice stay in Honfleur.

"Great location but could do with updating "
Lucy J, 28 Août 2015

Firstly I want to say that the hotel is in fantastic location, you couldn't ask for better. Stunning views of the harbour and right in the centre of things. But, too hot, too noisy and terrifying trip up to the secure parking lets it down. The breakfast was also a bit expensive. They need to invest in improving the decor, curtains were ripped and cushions were patched up. Lovely old building and good size rooms are also a bonus though.

"Good location"
meridian27, 15 Août 2015

Great location convenient for most of the old part of Honfleur and port.Room very clean and staff very helpful and pleasant. The down side is that during renovation Air Conditioning should have been fitted in the rooms because when it is hot,as was during our stay, the window needed to be open but this proved a mistake because of the traffic noise and late night revellers plus the rubbish collection in the early hours of the morning. If you intend to use the hotel car park then be aware that it is a good 5 minutes walk up hill from the hotel.

"Conveniently Located"
Ken S, 13 Août 2015

This hotel is right on the port. It is a convenient stroll to everywhere in Honfleur. The hotel staff was very nice and the room was clean and updated. Not the Best Western you're used to staying in The States!

"Beautiful "
jennybucks1, 10 Août 2015

Beautiful room and view of harbor. Staff very pleasant and spoke some English. Helped us find nice dinner. We had quad room with bunks for the girls and a wonderful king bed for us. No A/C but not needed as breeze from the harbor had us comfortable all night.

"Great place to stay "
PWG63, 09 Août 2015

Nicely renovated hotel on the edge of the harbor in Honfleur. We stayed in a junior suite overlooking the old port area, decoration was clean and modern with everything you need. The term junior suite might be a bit of a stretch though, it's a bigger room with a sofa bed but none the less it had charm and we loved it Staff had all been professional and welcoming throughout the stay. Go early for breakfast as things run out when it's busy but they do their best to restock as soon as they can. Only downside is the internet which is worse than useless and parking is in the pay and display close by for €10 per day If they could make a bike store for my beloved racing cycle then I would rate then 5 star but seriously it's a great place in a lovely town go stay there!

"Awful room"
Paul L, 28 Juillet 2015

Lovely reception, great staff, but the room was awful - ghastly odour, mean size, dreadful decor, not clean, plastic floor, stuffy (but could not open window as this opened curtains allowing 'Stalag' type spotlight into room, duvet was max TOG so either too hot or chilled, sink didn't drain, clear signs of leakage from radiators, shower screen had lost its bottom seal and corridor outside poorly cleaned (still signs of staining) - Don't go here!!!

"Good location but tired rooms"
canonburygirl, 28 Mai 2015

We stayed here for one night breaking our journey back to the UK. The location is good - albeit a bit noisy at times - and the views from the room were lovely. The rooms are small and a bit tired looking but clean and there is free wifi. They are dog-friendly but charge extra per dog (I note that children under 12 are free if they share a room - go figure!!)

"tOO BUSY AND NOISY"
CanuckKips, 22 Mai 2015

Stay elsewhere outside of town. This place is crawling with tourists, making access to the hotel difficult and luggage unloading and parking a problem. Also, no assistance with luggage for seniors. For cooling the room, you have to open the windows, making it very noisy. Staff behind reception desk preoccupied with other things as constantly has head bowed.

"Lovely short break"
Peter W, 21 Mai 2015

The hotel is well located by the marina and has good views. The staff were all extremely helpful and Honfleur is a lovely place for a short break with lots to see and some very good restaurants recommended by the hotel staff.

"cheval blac"
Bill C, 22 Mars 2015

for the price room was okay . only hassle construction was on the front of the hotel so we had to unload from the back steep stairs at the back with 1 big luggage and 2 small one . value for money pay for what you get

"Best Western Honfleur France"
Fred R, 27 Septembre 2014

Great views of the Honfleur harbor at this hotel. But don't be fooled. The lift is too small, the rooms are too small, the shower is too small, the floor in the room slants in at least three different directions. Best Western should divest itself from this building.

"Small Room, Ok Stay"
amybN3983YL, 04 Septembre 2014

Room was very small, bed was small and hard. Room and bathroom were clean. There is no parking on site. The open air lot is a 10 minute walk up a small and narrow street. The hotel is also not very clearly marked if you are driving by- we missed it twice when we drove by.

"Not quite the Best Western"
sibajak, 08 Juillet 2014

We stayed here for three nights from 30th June and chose this hotel primarily because of the secure car park (travelled in a vintage soft top so essential) and it's central location. The location was great and, apart from the tiny room and petite shower room (no room for bath) it was what we wanted as we intended to spend our stay touring and not in the hotel. However, although we knew the 'secure' car park was 500 metres (at least!) away we didn't realise it was not covered and up a very steep road. I hate to think what we would have done if the weather was not good! Other minor items were the steam room not working the only time we tried it and the receptionist not knowing anything about the Deauville horse racing on that week. All in all a very average experience that won't put us off using the franchise again.
