« Clean Room Reasonably Priced »

One of the few hotels in the area which is affordable for a family of four. Valet parking is also reasonably priced at $22. Our room was very spacious including a huge bathroom with double sinks. Beds were comfortable and breakfast is available in the diner downstairs. The hotel is within walking distance to the walk of fame as well as a few restaurants. The Hollywood sign is visible from a few of the rooms. Front desk staff was efficient and friendly. Overall, the hotel is clean and affordable. We would not hesitate to return on our next visit to Hollywood.

    « We acted in a film ?? »

This hotels great place to be. Not so far from the famous Hollywood sign (which we saw from the room). We spent two nights there and, on the first morning, we couldn't take the breakfast at the hotel because a film was shot in the restaurant. I particularly appreciated the decorations the room and the reception.

    « Delightfully Surprised »

Not only were we surprised at the decor, but we were surprised and delighted with the rooms. They have high ceilings and large restrooms, including a small seat in the shower. The hotel has a nice smoking area that is easy to access. We did not get to enjoy the bar, but if we stay again, we definitely will. The coffee shop restaurant was excellent, even at 2:30 am. The menu was varied with many vegetarian options, and the staff was very attentive, as well. The only awkward part was the extremely small elevator, but one becomes accustomed quickly.

    « Incredible Stay! »

I had a wonderful stay at this particular location. Have visited LA before on previous occasions and stayed in other hotels, but they just did not compare to the quality and comfort received at this one. (And surprisingly the price was cheaper too, which was a huge bonus to us!) The rooms were furnished gorgeously, the pillows the softest I've ever felt, and the whole place just felt nice and quiet.

« God hotel 5 minutes from walk of fame »

Good hotel with a outdoor pool located a 5 minute walk from walk of fame. Easy access from and to freeway. Valet parking for a descent price. A bit far from Venice/Santa Monica and rodeo drive, but it depends what you wanna see and do.

    « Great family hotel »

Chose this hotel from online reviews and so glad I did. Great little, eclectic hotel. In room microwave and fridge was great for the kids....as was the on site washer/dryer which I didn't seek out but ended up needing. The 101 Coffee Shop was great (food was slightly cold but they reheated/made fresh with no problem). Was disappointed it didn't open until 7am and wasn't able to eat there before our flight home. Great location too!

    « Great location! »

Safe. Check-in was easy and the valet guys were great! We had a large room with a small kitchen area. We booked directly through the BW site which is the ONLY way we will book from now on. Easy in and out of the parking lot. Walking distance to Hollywood Blvd and walk of fame. Great location!

    « Great Location!!! »

We stayed last weekend for one night to go to a Halloween party. The hotel is small but nice. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room had what we wanted and it was very clean. The bed was very comfortable. Free Wi-Fi is always a plus. I liked the fact that the hotel is very close to Hollywood Blvd, to Universal Studios and to many restaurants. The valet parking is $20 which is good for a hotel in Hollywood. I recommend this hotel and I would stay again.

    « Below average »

Pros: - Hotel is close to Hollywood Blvd (although we found Hollywood Blvd to be very disappointing), and the Hollywood sign - Parking staff is great and very friendly Cons: - If you are walking towards Hollywood Blvd at night, you will encounter many homeless people sleeping under the highway underpass (we counted 6-7), and foul smells... - Our room had a stain on one of the bed sheets (see picture), and an iron burn mark on the carpet (literally the shape of an iron!) - Wife's car got damaged when we used street parking the first night, and so we used the hotel parking on the second night at the $20 rate. - Swimming pool is at the center of the units, and can be loud when children are there - Water pressure in our shower was a little low - Our room was dark, with not much natural light

« Historic stay walking distance to WEHO sites »

We had this hotel booked by our travel agent & it does not disappointed fir West Hollywood in size, funk or price - Our room was a classic '50's room with mini kitchen (great for chilling your Cali wines), a large main/bedroom & bathroom. We were offered a room with a view (aka, Franklin Ave) and while a little noisy with the traffic, nothing the A/C or those used to regular city noise can't handle. The hotel has a funky feel to it with all its retro hollywood photos & is well working distance to the walk of fame, theatres, tours, etc. There's a funky cafe/dinner & bar on site too + pay parking. The lot is tight so I recommend small cars if parking or carefully maneuvering it -

« Rooms a surprise at Best Western Plus Hollywood Hills »

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel before going on a cruise to Mexico. When you see the entrance, the lobby and the pool area, you might think you are in a 'not so great' hotel, but you get a real surprise when you go in the rooms. I believe what they have done is keep the original charm of the hotel, but spent a lot on upgrading the rooms. They are very clean and very modern, including the bathrooms. The double shower is an excellent feature. The photos of celebrities who stayed at the hotel provide a unique touch. Service was also very good. I will comment on the attached restaurant in another review.

« Quirky yet Quaint Time Machine »

Though the exterior of the hotel is unimpressive, it's a different story indoors. The lobby is compact and the staff is courteous and will give you a map of the nearby location. It has a restaurant called Cafe 101 adjacent to the lobby area. The place is decorated with Hollywood memorabilia from a bygone era. To their credit, it has been done tastefully as it could have gone wrong to look super tacky. We were given a room on the 2nd floor in the corner. The room size was large and the bathroom was a decent size. There was quite a lot of noise from the cafe at night but by closing the bathroom door, the sound thankfully disappeared. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. There are no safes in the room but the front desk offers safety boxes. The room had occasionally noisy sounds from suitcases or people thumping while moving about upstairs. Check in and check out was seamless. There is a small fridge, microwave, iron and the WiFi is free. It has a fairly good location. About a 10 minute walk to the Hollywood / Vine metro and the Walk of Fame. About a half an hour walk to the Chinese theatre. It is a 5 mins walk to the Capitol records building. There is a mini mart and a Thai restaurant adjacent to the hotel on one side. On the other side after a 10 minute walk, is a huge supermarket called Gelson that has pretty much everything. Griffith Observatory is a 20 mins cab ride costing about 21 bucks and Griffith Park is about a 15 mins cab ride. The hotel can call a taxi on request. You can prearrange with the cable driver to pick you up at a designated time from the Griffith observatory. Else you are stuck there without access to any public transport on a week day. The Hollywood sign is visible from certain rooms on the higher floors. It is easily visible from the roads adjacent to the hotel. If you are walking, part of the road is swamped by construction and there are some homeless folks lying about in that area. Though we came back late at night, it seemed to be quite safe. But the road is quite desolate, so it's better to be on your guard. You need to be cautious when crossing the road adjacent to the gas station as the level crossing is non existent. Better check ahead if you want to extend your stay. You may be allowed a late checkout till about 1 pm. If you have a late night flight, you can request the hotel to keep your bags in the cloak room. You can prebook an exclusive airport shuttle which costs 65 bucks and will drop you to LAX in 1 hour time subject to traffic. Getting to the hotel is easy, just opt for Supershuttle which is a share shuttle and will charge about 17 bucks per person including kids. This is a fairly good hotel offering value for money and great connectivity to the nearby attractions. The cafe offers decent food options and are very well prepared and served cheerfully by the waiters. There is no room service and it also has a swimming pool. Car parking is about 20 bucks a night.

« Quaint hotel close to walk of fame »

Great hotel! staff are super nice and friendly. Free Wifi - though I couldn't always get this to work on my phone. Room size very good as was the bathroom. room was a little noisey and this is only from the outside traffic. our room had a view of the Hollywood sign so for us that was a massive bonus. There is an onsite restaurant the food was below average as was the service. There is a pool at the hotel. The hotel location is pretty good too, about 45minutes from the airport via taxi. There is a public bus stop out the front. The Hollywood Hills are just behind the hotel and the Hollywood sign can also been seen from the corners near the hotel. There is large supermarket and restaurants about a 10min walk away. There are some restaurants and a mini market nearer to the hotel. The Walk of Fame is about 10min walk and the Dolby Theatre and Chinese theatre is about a 25min walk. Capital Records 5min walk. Would highly recommend the hotel. The halls in both the reception, lift and the 4th floor hall and our room was decorated with Hollywood stars of the past (& present) so it given a very Hollywood feel to our stay here

    « Another great stay »

This hotel is in a great location for Hollywood and LA sight seeing. It has a lovely bar and the 101 dinner which has been used in many films and TV shows. It can also be a place where local people go. It's great for a short or even longer stay. We will return.

« Good location, good value »

Not fancy, but a clean, comfortable hotel. Decorated with old film star pictures. Good breakfast place attached- very popular with locals, and great waitstaff. Nice location-near the Hollywood sign and access to highways. Swimming pool in atrium.

    5
    « WOW »

The hotel shouts out loud and clear 'Welcome to Hollywood'. It's hollywood actors all over the property. Courteous staff, clean rooms. Small kitchenette with microwave and coffee machine. Huge bathrooms, haven't seen bigger in US. Short walk to railway station and walk of fame. Not very far from Universal Studios. Super market next door. Great place to soak in HOLLYWOOD!!

« Good hotel and location »

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights last month. It's in a great location for Hollywood Boulevard (few minutes walk) Warner Brothers Studios and Universal Studios (both a 10-15 minute drive away). Our room was really nice with a great bathroom. We were in the main block with all the memorabilia along the walls and in my view the best part of the hotel. The pool is on the other side. There's a great diner attached to the hotel where we had breakfast on a couple of days and also dinner once. There are a few restaurants a few minutes walk down the road. My only criticism of this hotel is the $20 + tax per night charge for parking plus having to have a concierge to park our car which we were quite capable of doing ourselves. Guess we're just not used to this in the UK.

    « Excellent budget hotel!! »

Excellent hotel in a reasonable area of Los Angeles, with good access to downtown LA and other areas. Great staff, who were very helpful throughout our stay. Nicely appointed rooms with good facilities and impeccably clean!! Car parking on site, but an extra charge of $20/night is applicable, although there is on street parking adjoining the hotel.

« Excellent Location, Exceptional Service »

I stayed at this hotel on a business/leisure trip. Was in town for meetings for two days, then added four more days as leisure time. Hotel itself almost seems like it belongs in a 1950s movie. Not in a bad way at all though ! The front desk staff were very happy and helpful at all times. When I was checking in, I met a young couple from Australia who were arriving at the same time. With the time differences, they had arrived one day earlier than they had expected to. (They had actually arrived the day before they had left. Weird, but very true, due to the international date lines and time zones.) The hotel was fully booked that night, and the young couple wasn't in the system until the following day. The front desk people immediately told the couple (who were almost in tears learning that they didn't have a room), not to worry, got on the phone to other nearby hotels, and within a few minutes had them in a cab on their way to another property for one night. I saw that that couple later that week in the restaurant, and asked them how that first night had worked out for them. They told me that when they checked out of the other hotel after that first night, the Best Western had made arrangements for their luggage to be picked up and relocated directly to their room at the Best Western, to save them the inconvenience of doing it themselves. And the BW had arranged for the other hotel to only charge the rate they were paying at the BW, even though the other hotel's same-day rate was "much higher". My room had posters of old movies and TV shows, but with modern amenities. I had a kitchenette with mini fridge and microwave, dishes, cutlery, dishtowels, etc. The room had a comfortable sofa, very comfortable bed, and a modern, wall-mount HDTV with all the cable channels. The bathroom was enormous, and had recently been totally renovated top to bottom. The hotel has an attached parking garage, with plenty of space. I admit that once I parked my rental car, I only took it out twice during my stay, because it was so close to all amenities. Maybe next time, I won't even bother to rent a car. The hotel had an outdoor pool, which I didn't make use of as it was fall. The adjacent diner had absolutely delicious meals, at very affordable prices. I had breakfast there every day, and a couple of late dinners. And the servers were super-friendly and kind. The hotel is situated close enough to the Hollywood Strip that I was able to walk to and from almost everything. I walked to/from Hollywood & Highland, where my meetings were, then walked back again during my days off to be a tourist. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel !

    « A Very Cool Place, and I'm a Local »

Well, actually I live about 1hr south and needed a hotel in Hollywood for a late meeting. My expectations weren't too high, and man was I surprised. First, the staff is super friendly. The doesn't always happen in Hollywood. Second, the decor in the hotel really made my day. They somehow managed to create a fun and tasteful way to display autographs, movie posters, and Hollywood memorabilia. The room was big, clean, and had very cool movie memorabilia as well. The Minibar bar was funky and fun, and the diner in the hotel was a great new take on the old diner, complete with counter. If you want a nice, safe, clean place that has some fun Hollywood charm, this is your move. Easy to walk to most Hollywood attractions, but far enough way to avoid the screaming crazy people.

    « Very Helpfull »

After a bad start the Group came to our rescue. :-) They made our first night in the USA a pleasure, nothing to much and helped us by supplying maps free of charge, amazing people and always a smile on everyone's face.

« nice place to stay for a few days. »

This hotel is a hotel where you get what you pay for. It is not the most fanciest hotel in Hollywood but for the price it's pretty good. The Staff are friendly and willing to help you plan your Hollywood vacation, however it's a little bit out of the way from the major Hollywood attractions such as the BLV, Beverly Hills and the nice resturarts however there are a few good places to eat down a few blocks. The rooms are tidy and have a small kitchen which most hotels dont offer, there is also a laundry which is a plus. The only negative we had during our stay was the food. The resturant bellow has very friendly staff but the food isnt all that great, i would reccomend venturing out to eat. All in all this hotel is a good hotel if you are looking at saving a bit of money on accomodation, with very friendly staff im sure your stay will be enjoyable.

« Great hotel in the best location! »

We checked into this hotel on 5/09/16 and stayed for 10 days. The hotel is situated on Franklin Avenue which is 5 minutes from the Walk of Fame and 20 minutes from Chinese Theatre, both in walking distance. There is a Supermarket 2 buildings down which is great to pop to if needed, also an excellent Chinese called Maxim about 5-10 minutes away. The hotel itself was spotless 24/7 no word of a lie, the cleaners do an excellent job. The room itself was spacious with two large double beds, a TV with a massive selection of programmes and movies. There is a small kitchen but has everything you needed we only really used the fridge. The pool wasn't great but didn't really expect too much from it. It was nice to relax in as it was quite all day. The pool wasn't warm but it was good to cool off into whilst scorching in the Los Angeles heat. The staff couldn't do enough for you, from allowing us to print boarding cards off in the lobby to helping us located the Chinese theatre. I would recommend visiting the cafe which links onto the hotel, the staff were amazing fast service and huge portion sizes. They were also filming a TV show in there on the day we left, and Ryan Gosling loves that restaurant and visits frequently.

« Top hotel with best prices. »

I stayed in Hollywood for a week and this hotel was my first choice. I compared prices to many of the other hotels and this one was well below the going rate for others. The location is just a few blocks from Hollywood Blvd. The 101 freeway entrance is close. The cafe in the hotel serves great food at a reasonable price. ( LA is a very expensive town) The hotel rooms are spacious and very clean. The room I stayed in was excellent, spacious well lit bathrooms, comfortable beds, tv"s were large with many options if you wanted down time in your room. The hotel staff was really working hard to pay attention to your needs, from the valet, room attendants, front desk staff answering questions and providing directions to " Walk of Fame" Hollywood sign or places to see on your tour of LA. The hotel has a small cocktail lounge and I enjoyed a few libations to kick off the night. This is a hotel I enjoyed and will return.

    4
    « Funky »

Funky, with good rooms and decent bathrooms. We were in the back part which is a quad around a pool and liked the Hollywood vibe created by photos and decor. It is an easy walk to walk of fame. Cafe(which is not part of hotel) is great. Only downside is pool, a bit small with insufficient sun beds. If you are in a room around the pool on ground floor it could be noisy.

    3
« Trendy but falls short of expectations »

For $230 per night ($250 if you include the mandatory valet parking fee) you'd think you'd have a near-perfect hotel experience. Apparently, that isn't quite the case. At least, not for this hotel. First the good: Location is great. It's only a short walk to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, a brief drive to Universal Studios, and has some cool juice bars, coffee shops, and nightlife spots nearby. Staff is friendly. Check-in was a breeze and the desk folks were only too happy to provide walking directions. Bathroom is large and semi-luxurious. Twin sinks, granite countertop, walk-in shower, etc. The (notable) bad: The bed. The mattress wasn't the most comfortable and the pillows were much too thick and dense. The noise. We easily heard plenty of sound coming from other guests whether that be from outside or from nearby rooms. The shower. While the bathroom overall was great, the water pressure wasn't. The price. $230 per night? Seriously? You're a Best Western. Get over yourself! Won't stay there again despite it having a great location. It simply isn't worth the money.

    3
    « Nice and comfortable »

A big nice room with very comfortable bed.Hotel staff are friendly enough to provide us the info required and introduce the nearly area. Walking distance about 10 mins to Hollywood Blvd but you will need to cross a quiet street before reaching Star of Frame. Feel bit unsafe during night time.

« Wonderful hotel, amazing location »

We booked two double rooms & were very pleasantly surprised with everything about this hotel, from the helpful, friendly staff at check in to the lovely clean rooms with amazing bathroom with a view of the Hollywood sign & really comfy beds to the perfect pool area. They also have a very, very cool bar & a funky diner that serves amazing food at very good prices. Needless to say we loved this place & would love to stay there again

« Perfect location and greet hotel »

We had to rooms between six of us which had a dorm between the two which was great! The bathroom had a double shower and was very spacious. Breakfast was not included in the price however the breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel was amazing with a great selection. The location is perfect for exploring the attractions of LA. would certainly recommend!

« THE Best Western Hollywood Stay »

My husband and I were recently on our honeymoon and we stayed in total of three different hotels in three different cities. By far this one was the best! Swift check in and handy map to help us find our way in downtown LA. Rooms was massive in comparison to our hotels in the UK - two double beds, one for sleeping and one for the suitcases! The bathroom was spot on too with lovely hot stone showers which put ours to absolute shame. The colourful painting of the building adds to warm and positive atmosphere that the hotel exudes! Finally the cafe/diner that is attached the building was the icing on the cake. Affordable prices and a breakfast to beat no other - we ate there everyday (sometimes twice)! We would definitely stay there again if we were back in the LA area!

« Thumbs up for room size! »

My girlfriend and I arrived here by car after a smooth drive down the west coast. Tad bit confusing where to park firstly, they do have valet parking so if you are coming straight of the highway with the hotel on your left hand side, I would recommend taking the first left before the hotel and a quick right into the drive through just before the multi-story car park. Check in was smooth and helpful, pointing out the nearby eats and touristy bits. The view from our room wasn't the best but the room is large and clean, pleasant kitchen area, large living area and a huge bathroom. We stayed here for 2 nights, I thought the location was good, but as we had the car we weren't restricted to public transport but Hollywood boulevard was only a 10 minute walk away. The bar in the hotel is small but very 50's, great feel to it and specialised in whiskeys. There is a cafe attached, we ate there both mornings and received both good and bad service but this is no reflection on the hotel its self as i think they are completely separate. We didn't use the pool as i think that was located in the newer of the two buildings, but we did use their self service laundry facility. Anyways, reasonably priced, comfy and clean with huge rooms you could swing a moose in and good service. I would recommend this hotel.

« End of a three week tour of the west of America???? »

Pros- Free wifi, clean, air conditioned, sizeable fridge , microwave, pool, restaurant/ dinner attached, bar attached, shops/petrol stations near-by and staff were friendly. Cons- sliding Room Windows aren't secure coupled with no room safe, parking $20 plus tax a day in a car park were you could clearly park yourself, the immediate area is rough as you head towards the main areas which are a 10 minute walk away. (this isn't the hotels issue just an observation). In conclusion this place was ok but didn't have the holiday/ vacation feel, more of a functional room for the stay.

    4
    « 2 night stop »

Generously sized room with huge bathroom and even a small kitchen. You can see the Hollywood sign from the road and probably some of the other rooms so superbly located for universal Studios and the walk of fame. The diner underneath is fantastic. Reasonable, big portions, and feels so authentic. Hidden gem? Chocolate waffle Sundae is really for 3 people or more. It beat me and my son sharing! Would be a 5 but for road noise from freeway outside our room

    4
    « Great room! »

Nice hotel. We booked because it had a pool, but we did not use it. Coming from the heatwave in NYC the weather felt balmy! Close to walk of fame. Dont go early like we did at 8.30am. It was still full of homeless and stank. Visited the mini bar for a drink and the diner for dinner. Food average but the surroundings are cool!

    « Great location »

BEST WESTERN PLUS Hollywood Hills Hotel is jus a 10 minute walk from Hollywood Boulevard A great location from which to explore Hollywood and all that goes with it Would definitely book it again when back in L.A

    « A fantastic week »

A wonderful hotel lovely room and a small but adequate pool. A nice 20ish minute walk to the walk of fame all in what felt like a safe area even coming back late. A good base for exploring the area with the 101 just down the road. There is a nice supermarket just a few blocks up where you can get your daily essentials. The diner served nice food and we enjoyed all the star photos on the walls. There is a $22 charge to park your car but this did not bother us to much as you could pull up outside and the valet would park your car for you.

    3
    « Clean and comfortable »

The location is excellent if you plan on sightseeing in Hollywood. Very clean rooms. Nice bathroom and shower. Excellent staff. The cafe serves a nice breakfast to start your day of adventure in the Holyywood area.

    3
« Good location, good hotel »

It was a good hotel. The front desk staff were not super kind, but they were ok. It was too cold to use the pool, but it looked alright. The breakfast wasn't part of the room fee which was disappointing. On the positive side it was well situated, close to the hollywood hills for good hiking. Also close to the nightlife area and restaurants which was great.

    3
« Large rooms, cool decor, unimpressive location »

My family of four stayed at the Best Western PLUS Hollywood Hills in July of 2016 and were very impressed by the size of the room, especially the bathroom and the shower! This is a cool hotel that feels almost like a boutique rather than a huge chain. The decor is fun and we spent a while looking around at all of the Hollywood memorabilia that covered the walls including signed photos of celebrities who apparently stayed at this location. The location of this hotel left a lot to be desired. It's not terrible but the area does not seem very safe. One good thing is that the Walk of Fame and the Dolby Theater are not a terrible walk from the hotel. It took us about 20 minutes to walk there, however the walk is not one I would feel comfortable making at night.

    4
    « Clean and tidy »

We booked this hotel after a bad experience at our hotel in LA and we are glad we did. This hotel has a really funky interior with a true hollywood vibe. It is a basic and simple room but very comfortable. The diner downstairs was great and had a real american vibe. I would stay here again!

« Nice hotel if wanting to be near to walk of fame »

first trip to hollywood so looking for somewhere to stay near wlak of fame. Nice hotel situated approximately 15-20 mins walk from central walk of fame area. Nice rooms and parking available on site (although chargeable which is a downside). Small pool area which was closed during one of the days of our stay. Happy overall with hotel but would dtay in another part of LA if we revisit in future

    4
    « Cute decor/good hotel »

Clean hotel with fun interior décor. Staff was nice but not over the top. Small parking area. Restaurant was ok. My father and brother that I was traveling with loved it. I have food allergies and could not eat here. Not many healthy alternatives but kind staff all the way through! Would over all stay here again. Beds were super comfy. It was quiet.

    5
    « Hollywood Gem »

Immaculately presented hotel. Full cable-wow. Beautiful pool. Comfy beds and large rooms. I have to call out the 101 diner and the mini bar, both of which are attached to the hotel. Loved them both and the memory of having meat loaf for dinner while playing songs on the jukebox diner will live with me for a while. This hotel was a little oasis in a city that's big, busy and fun and we felt right at home.

    « Excellent! »

The best western plus hollywood hills is an excellent hotel! I travelled with my 2 friends in June 2016. The room itself is big enough for 3 people however I think that it was would be a bit cramped for 4 people! The bathroom is a good size and the towels were changed every day. The reception staff were all really friendly and always willing to help and answer any questions. There is a cafe attached to the hotel that does really good breakfast and good food in the evening. The location of the hotel is perfect, just up the road from the Hollywood Boulevard and close to the LAX flyaway bus stop. I would definitely stay here again next time I am in Hollywood!

We booked two rooms with two queens for $200 each. Staff were not friendly. The carpets were dirty, the showers are not for families. There were non hotel guests hanging out near the rooms and elevators. There weren't any security guards. They have one guy watch the parking lot and he is not always there. We felt very uncomfortable and unsafe staying here so we left by 10pm. What a waste of $400. Will not be back!

    « Good value.. »

We had a pretty good experience with this hotel. We arrived late at night for check in and there had been a mixup with our room so they provided parking at no cost and offered a cot at no extra cost. This is acknowledged as good service! The room itself was well appointed with a kitchen equipped with sink, microwave and mini fridge. The washroom was very big! The bed was comfortable and we loved that we could open the windows for fresh air and listen to the sounds of the neighbourhood. The hotel has a restaurant and bar that is open late. The location isn't the prettiest however it is only a 2 block walk to the start of the walk of fame.

    « Just right! »

Didn't know quite what to expect. Here in the UK, the 'Best Western' brand has a dodgy reputation - so much that they had a 'fly-on-the-wall' TV documentary couple of years back about the backroom horrors of the system. But can't really fault this place, for price, location, cleanliness, decor. I would guess literally thousands of framed photo-memorabilia from Hollywood through the years, Didn't use the small pool, or the restaurant. There's a cool bar in the hotel (the 'Mini Bar) open late with live music the night we stayed.

    « Cute Hotel »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Hollywood Hills. Our room was spacious. The beds were comfortable. The decor was cute and memorable. We all enjoyed seeing all of the movie star pictures. The pool was heated and the kids liked the fact that it was treated with salt rather than chlorine. The restaurant was not great. It was overpriced and the service was slow.

« Nice and comfortable stay, location perfect! »

I stayed here with my wife in late February 2016. The location is just perfect. 10 mins walk to hollywood boulevard, 10 mins cab ride to Griffith observatory, 15 mins cab ride to universal. The Hollywood sign was visible from our bathroom window. The room was pretty comfortable. There is microwave in the rooms, which is very convenient. Didn't like the attitude of the staff at the reception, was given a room that wasn't even clean. But apart from that, everything was good. Also, cab sharing rides like uber and lyft are easily available. Grocery markets and restaurants within 5 mins walk. Hotel's own Cafe 101 is also great!

    « Location, location, location »

Hotel satisfied our needs. 15-min walk to Hollywood Blvd, 15 min drive to Warner Bros, Universal, Hollywood Bowl. We got the top floor - had no problems sleeping. The bathroom was HUGE and the queen beds are very comfortable. WiFi signal was very strong. Parking is steep at $22/day albeit valet. Downtown LA is 30 min away via the metro (subway). There is a grocery store (Gelson's - 5 min walk) and you can see the Hollywood sign from there too. Staff is very accommodating - there was a confusion on parking payment - I paid the attendants cash and also got charged on my hotel bill which they reversed within 24 hrs after telling them what happened. Will definitely stay here again If I am in the area.

« An old standby in Hollywood »

We always stay in this hotel when visiting LA because our daughter lives close by in an apartment in Los Filez. The décor is all about the glory of "Old Hollywood" with tons of old photos and other memorabilia. The on site coffee shop has good food and the hotel is walking distance to the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Pantages theater, and other famous sites. We usually stay in January or February when room availability is better. This time we stayed in June on our way back from an Alaska tour, and we were lucky to get the very last room in the hotel in the pool tower. We have much better rooms on previous stays when we stayed in the main tower. The rooms there tend to be larger and better decorated, but "beggars can't be choosers".

« Great location and super burger bar next door! »

From the parking lot, which was easy to find, to the great burger you can get right next door, this was a really good hotel for a quick stay in LA. We could walk to the Walk of Fame and the rooms where just as they should be.

    « Great Location - Decent Hotel »

We stayed 4 nights in May in a nice big room with space to make tea / coffee. Coffee machine broke while we were there but was quickly replaced. Good size and comfortable bed and TV. Reception staff always helpful, 101 restaurant on site and therefore really handy especially for a good american breakfast. Only down side is the noise. The hotel is in two parts and there is an air conditioning flu on the outside of the part where reception is which means that those room around the pool which ours was are subjected to the constant loud hum.

    « Nice atmosphere »

Among the thousands of hotells in LA BW Hollywood Hills is a good choice if you are travelling with family and you have a car. It is quite a easy to drive every where in LA from this hotell. The highway 101 is just in the corner. The famous Hollywood Boulevard is just 5 minutes walk away. The atmosphere in the hotel is good: you are surrounded with all movie stars (plenty of photos ect) in the hotel. Room was big enough for family use (4 peson), it was clean and the room service did excellent work every day. The small pool area is most of the day mostly in schadow but anyhow the pool is ok. Parking is easy: the parking assistant take care of your car. Good choise for families and couples for few days visit.

« My new place to stay in the Hollywood area. »

This place is the best place I have stayed at in the area. The room we got was room 304 and was a corner room. Check in was easy and they were so friendly. We arrived early and was surprised our room was ready so we could check in early. The room was really big compared to other places I have stayed at. It was great for the girls weekend. The bathroom was huge as well. There also was a little area with a microwave, fridge, sink ad coffee maker and a closet. I love the movie memorabilia in the rooms and through out the hotel. There is a small bar downstairs that was a great spot for us to grab a drink and then call the Uber to pick us up. Also on the property is a small diner called Cafe 10 and the food is pretty good and is open late. We had breakfast there and was surprised they offered veggie sausage. One of my LA friends told me Scarlett Johansson has been known to eat there, but I did not see her on this trip :) The room was clean and it was quiet. The bed was so comfy I wanted to sleep in on Saturday but had to get up and go meet a friend for the beach. The staff was friendly and helpful. I will be back soon.

« Great location, especially if not driving in LA »

I am a 29 year old British woman and I stayed here by myself last September for 6 nights so that I could sight-see around LA. I also did not want to hire a car, but I didn't find this to be too much of a problem because this hotel is a good location. The hotel is not too far from the airport and I used an airport shuttle service to get here. It was cheap and convenient. My flight was delayed, but it wasn't a problem, they just put me on the next van which was going in the right direction. They also text me to confirm my transfer home the day before which I thought was an excellent and reassuring part of the service. The room was lovely with two massive beds, a huge bathroom and a little kitchen area. I had breakfast every day in the 101 coffee shop which is part of the hotel. The portions were really big and the food was delicious so most days I didn't even have lunch and just had an early dinner. The staff on reception were really helpful and knowledgeable and they provided a safety deposit box which I left my money and passport in. The hotel has good wifi and they also have a PC which I used for printing tickets. The hotel is within walking distance to the walk of fame. In the nighttime I would not advise walking back though. There are lots of homeless people and I did not always feel safe. From the walk of fame I got tickets for 48 hours of the tourist bus. This took me all round LA. I saw rodeo drive, the hotel from Pretty woman, the farmers market etc., I also went to a filming of the late late show with James Corden. (Tickets had been ordered in advance). The next day I went to Santa Monica, Venice Beach, the hotel from Jane the Virgin etc The tourist bus does take a long time due to the horrendous traffic and the fact that the route is a big loop, but if you can't or don't want to drive it's really not too bad as you get to see lots. The next day I went on a tour of the stars homes. Again you can pick this up from the walk of fame. Was cheesy but fun and the man asked me which celebs I liked and then took me to see the Beckhams house when I asked where that was. Then I chilled out at the hotel pool. It's not very big but there was hardly anyone using it and it was well maintained. From this hotel you can see the Hollywood sign. I got a ten dollar cab to the end of Beachwood Drive which is a few "blocks" down and then I hiked up to behind the top of the Hollywood sign. I had spoken to one person on reception. He explained to me that you are not meant to do it, but people print off instructions from the Internet and do it all the time. This was without doubt the best thing I did on my trip. It was hot and hard but the views were amazing. When I reached the top a group of Americans high fived me and were like "you did it girl!" Also a guy had just proposed to his girlfriend at the top. You can't touch the sign because it's fenced off and there are loads of security cameras but seeing the big letters close up was really cool. I then got a cab to the Hollywood walk of fame in the evening to eat dinner. There's lots of restaurants to choose from. The theme park is also here but I didn't visit. On the last day I got a cab to Warner Brothers studio. This was a little bit expensive to get there and I should have maybe used uber instead. WB tour has lots of cool things for Harry Potter fans but I was mainly excited to see the friends set. Big Bang Theory is also filmed here but we couldn't see the set because it was actually in use. I didn't see any of the stars, unfortunately! In summary this is a lovely, well looked after hotel with great staff and it is a fab location for exploring LA. The price I paid for this hotel was not bad. If I had gone with others and split the cost of the room it would have been very reasonable indeed. I felt very safe here by myself which was very important to me.

« Nice hotel , shame about the location »

We really liked this hotel . The rooms are large and comfortable and very clean . There is a cafe/restaurant (101 cafe) on site and a nice little bar . The hotel is decorated throughout with movie and music memorabilia which is great and you can spend ages just looking at this in the room, corridor and lifts. The staff are helpful and friendly . The parking is valet service and costs $20 a night so not cheap . The pool is very small and not really worth bothering with . The big downside is the area . It is only 10 mins walk to the Walk of Fame but on the way there are lots of tramps and strange people - I would recommend you use Uber!!! One morning we opened our curtains and there was a women directly across the road with her pants down doing a toilet- not what you want outside your hotel .

« Love the Old Hollywood vibe »

The hotel is cozy and casual. Both the bedroom and bathroom are decent. I absolutely loved the photos of Old Hollywood stars and could look at them all day. It is a great location as the place is situated quite near Hollywood attractions like the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

    2
« This is not a "Plus" hotel »

This is an old motel which needs major remodeling, including elevators. reception, and hallways. We had the joy of hearing and seeing water cascade from our shower head every time the room next door flushed their toilet (don't know where the water came from). Beds were comfortable, but the room was overpriced for the condition and the location.

« A 1970's Style Motel offering Very Good Service »

This hotel was built about 40+ years ago but is maintained very well, clean, comfortable, rooms spacious and well appointed. It is 40 mins walk from the popular parts of Hollywood Blvd. Staff were welcoming, helpful and pleasant. There is a very good café attached. A pleasant place to stay.

    « A budget hotel at a great location »

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights. The rooms were okay with all basic amenities. Bathrooms were fair enough with all toileteries. Howeverthe bathing area had some leakage issues with water dripping all the time from the shower. the room had a microwave and small kitchenette. The interiors are done with photographs of hollywood. All major attractions are close to the hotel which is an added advantage. The hotel offers a cafeteria which is open till early morning. Overall a decent hotle and a comfortable stay

« Great location, comfortable stay »

This hotel is in a great location for the main Hollywood tourist attractions. The Walk of Fame and Chinese Theatre are within walking distance with Universal Studios a 10 minute drive away. Eateries and convenience stores are close by in addition to the on site bar and restaurant. The rooms are large and comfortable; the staff are friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this hotel to families or small groups of friends (such as ourselves).

    « Hollywood photos »

Super large rooms but the ones on the lower floors near the conditioning are noisy. Could spend hours looking at all the photographs in the lobby and corridors plus the ones in your room. Pool area is very small with only 6 loungers. Coffee bar/restaurant is convenient and reasonably priced. The area is not the best. There are a few restaurants and a supermarket within a 5 minute walk . The Walk of Fame is not far although the first part in in quite a run down area and a bit seedy. It takes about 20 mins to walk to the Chinese and Dolby theatres. Good hotel, wrong location.

« Great location Great rooms »

we visited a party of 3 friends. good location, near Hollywood BLVD, the parking is a bit pricy, 25$ a night + the tip for the valet. good rooms & bathrooms however the room is small, for a party of 3 with 3 suitcases we didn't had much space... its a good place to stay in LA & Holywood

    « Time Travel to Hollywood's Heyday »

While unprepossessing from the outside, once you get inside the property it's like stepping back in time to the Golden Age of Hollywood - pictures of stars, cozy rooms, super friendly staff. Check in was smooth and efficient and the room was a delight with a very comfortable bed, nice bathroom amenities, and (wonder of wonders!) good lighting so reading was comfortable. While we don't go to Hollywood often, this will be our go-to place. A real delight!

    « Good location »

The hotel is ok. The room is big. The pool-area is not all that, but it's just fine for cooling down during a warm day. The hotel is just about 10 minutes walk from Hollywood blv. The staff was friendly.

    « Great hotel »

We shared 3 nights with another couple in one room. Very large bathroom, but no exhaust fan. We felt safe in the area. Clean rooms and comfortable. Rooms, hallways and reception all have pictures of the stars framed up on the walls Even the lift looks cool. Theres a small bar and restaurant style diner on site. We ate breakfast and dinner each day. Really enjoyed the bowl of chilli for dinner. Attentive bar and restaurant staff .Good size servings. Short 10 min walk to Vine Street train Station(where you can catch the train to Universal Studios stop, think it was 3 stops away) and Star Walk of Fame . Would stay here again.

« Two Types of Hotel in One »

I've stayed at the Best Western on Franklin Ave in Hollywood many times, but the last couple of times were the best. The reason being that I was given rooms on both occasions in a part of the hotel that has been updated. There are two very different types of rooms here. One section of the hotel has rooms that surround a pool, the other uses the elevator just right of the check in desk. If you want a good nights sleep in a clean room be sure to ask for a room away from the pool and traffic. The restaurant 101 is great and also check out the new bar.

« Clean and convenient to Hollywood Boulevard attractions »

Arrived with a tour group from Australia..first impression was a standard older hotel then saw the many many pieces of Hollywood Memorabilia on the walls. Check in with any tour group is a slow process..given room card then only one small lift.. Oh well it's only a couple of floors thankfully. Room was good..two big comfortable double beds..big shower/ toilet area...good size TV.. Partial view of the iconic HOLLYWOOD sign out the rooms window. Stayed a total of four nights..found the hotel to be an iconic Hollywood hotel..amazing history with it being family owned for decades..an informing illuminated display onto a glass panel identified the Hollywood identities that have stayed or visited the hotel over the years.. The hotels diner..was a full on American diner that you have seen on TV.. Booth seating..table seating and stool seating at the bar..pretty cool. The food was good..the service was good and fast and the waitresses busy and friendly. Good clean hotel in a very dirty city..

Great value and location. Walking distance to Sunset blvd, great restaurants. 30 min walk to Runyon Canyon. Small hotel, but pretty comfortable. Big, comfortable room and even bigger bathroom. Great little diner downstairs with big breakfast and lunch menu.

    « Great lil place »

Excellent staff especially jo. He was really helpful with everything during our stay. Located near Hollywood boulevard so ideal for what we wanted. Cab or private shuttle to lax can cost a lot depending on traffic. Took flyaway shuttle on way back only $8 or $17 each can't remember. But a lot cheaper. Hotels own dinner is nice. Everything is traditional with a lot of history so nice. Decent room size. Hot shower but not powerful. No safe in room. View of Hollywood sign from our room which was cool.

« Nice hotel and staff »

« First stop for 3 week USA Tour »

I stayed here for two nights with my partner and this hotel was perfect. Arrived extremely early as our flight from Australia landed at LAX at 6:30am. Hotel staff were able to check us in as our room was ready... Thank god cos we needed a couple of hours sleep before we could do anything! Room was large, bathroom huge, comfy bed and view of the Hollywood sign from our window. Small kitchenette was handy also. Diner downstairs was convenient. Hotel staff were very helpful when we asked about different tourist things. Only negative: Our cab from LAX to hotel was $55 but our hotel transfer to LAX was $65, so might be best to cab it. We also used hotel transfer to Santa Monica for $65 but cab back cost $55. Other than that, great location and experience!

« Very nice hotel in hollywood »

We stayes here in may for 3 nights. The hotel is so cute, unique and clean. The staff is so nice and helpful special Joey and Zbeyda, thank you. Our room was in the second house where the pool is. The room had two big bed,a little kitchen and a small bathroom. The room was very clean and housekeeping came every day. The only thing, our window was to the street and there is always trafic. If the windows are closed it's ok but you can not sleep with open windows. We went just for breakfast to the restaurant and it was great. You can get like "all in" for 8 dollars or you can get breakfast a la cart. Even in the afternoon and evening the food looks great. The hotel is very central. You just walk 5 minutes to the walk of fame and about 10 minutes to chinese theater. There you can find some restaurants and some little shops. The staff at the reception explained everything very good where we could go and what we can do. If we get back to hollywood we would stay there again.

« Not Really Sure What to Say....... »

Let me start with saying that it wasn't bad. Location was great, room was clean. No complaints there. It was all just a bit weird. I understand that it's an older hotel, but the elevator was super tiny, the bathroom in the lobby with all of its mirrored walls was definitely bizarre. I expected to have to pay for parking, so no issue there. The blackout curtains were almost a little too good, as we didn't realize what time it was in the morning, but again, no complaints. The bathroom was odd with a Christmas dish filled with cotton balls and q-tips. Yeah.....I would never use that. Then there was the shower itself....no tub, just a long, time slab with 3 shower heads. I don't know, its probably just me, but it gave me a strange feeling. The window in the bathroom needs some sort of extra tinting or something, as the light shining through early in the morning is quite blinding. Didn't get to use the pool, but the area looked cool, kind of a 60's, space age type of vibe. Like I said, no real issues that I can pinpoint, just some oddities that I personally couldn't get past that would certainly stop me from going back.

« Nice hotel & location, poor meal »

Last stop on our Route 66 journey. The hotel is nicely located and we walked back from Hollywood Blvd. after a bus tour of the town. This took about 20 minutes from the Chinese theatre. The hotel Rio. Was well appointed with a king bed, two rocking chairs, kitchenette, flat screen TV, bathroom with twin sinks and a larger shower. The bar had a singer from the rat pack era who was a highlight of the holiday, from his stories between songs it sounded as if he mixed with the Sinatra crowd during the day, and he could sing which was a bonus. We would not recommend the hotel restaurant, they keep it so dark you struggle to read the menu, I think it's also so you can't see the food. My wife and I both opted for the southern fried steak chicken, well the batter was certainly well fried (burnt) and where the chicken was I'm not sure, it must gave run away at the site of all the batter. It put us off having breakfast on the two mornings we stayed. We ate a late lunch at Mel's diner just off the Hollywood Blvd which the driver/guide recommended during the bus tour, he was right, great food at good prices. Would have given the hotel 5 stars if it wasn't for the meal, we felt it was the worst we had during our whole trip from Chicago to LA.

    5
« We really enjoyed our stay - it was an excellent value! »

This location was a bit off the beaten path and I chose it for the distance from the hullabaloo, and we had no problems accessing mass transit. All the staff was very nice and easy going and the room was spacious and clean. The 101 Coffee Shop was really enjoyable - and completely worth it. We had a great vacation!

    « Hollywood Get Away »

Had a great time. The hotel was very clean and the front desk attendants (especially Joey) were very helpful! I loved the Hollywood decor they use too. Will use this hotel next time I'm in Hollywood for sure! Also.... Be on the lookout for stars in the lobby ;)

    « It was decent »

We only stayed here for one night, which im kinda glad about. We had no problems with the location or the hotel but, the curtains only just covered the bottom of the window as the air conditioning unit was right under the window, so by 6am, the room was super light, which meant I was awake way before I wanted to be. We were travelling to Anaheim early in the morning, so for me it wasnt too bad. If I wanted to sleep until around 9am, I would have had no chance as it was far too light to sleep. The room was spacious and very clean, the beds were lovely and soft too. The bathroom was a nice size and the shower was lush. The hotel also had a pool which we didnt have time to use, but it looked lovely and was nice and quiet. You could walk to Hollywood Blvd in around 5 minutes and location wise we had no issues.

    « Unique hotel »

Stayed out here for the weekend. I was surprised and didn't expect the hotel to be trendy and hip. It was actually a nice place with the different pics of Hollywood stars. It was also convenient to have a "mini bar" and cafe in the hotel. Overall this was a nice place to stay at and location was not far from Hollywood Blvd.

    « Honeymoon »

Hotel wasn't too close to Hollywood Blvd and the nicer sections and tourist part of Hollywood. Cafe 101 was good and the service there was great. Staff were friendly enough and helpful when ringing to confirm our tours etc and calling for cabs. Room was clean but smelt as if they had sprayed a whole bottle of cleaning fragrance to cover up the musty smell. Our window looked out to the highway and it was rather noisy throughout the night. Windows aren't well sealed. Cleaning trolleys were noisy as well as they went around the balconies from 7:30am. Was the last leg of our honeymoon and wasn't what I expected from LA and Hollywood. Nice enough hotel but wouldn't want to stay for much longer as there wasn't a lot to do that was close.

    « Vacationing »

The room was clean. The downsides are: They try to force valet parking on you at an additional charge; You are not close enough to walk anywhere; The counter girl seems to try to sell you on their restaurant and bar, great if you're 22 years old, not so much if you have your family; Pool is located in the center of all rooms, and seems to be where the drunk stupid people get loud so you cant sleep; the color of the building is gross ("yellow, pea green and blue"). People say that it is "dated", it is only the colors-Best Western and AAA have a history of being a bit conservative on colors, this is not!! The colors are what makes the place look "dated" from the 70's. No wonder the "Best Western" sign is barely visible...the hotel hard to find.. and the layout of the floors are awful...good luck if you're handicapped like me...The owners should visit other hotels in the area, and surrounding, they will find that the value is not here. Over-priced!!

    « Hollywood/ The Fonda Theater »

I booked this hotel because I was going to an event at the nearby Fonda Theater . This hotel was great . The staff were friendly and knowledgable about the surrounding area. There is a cafe/diner attached to the hotel. The cafe had a good selection of vegetarian dishes which is always a plus . We stayed in a room with two double beds on the third floor . The room itself was nice and updated , the bathroom was large with two sinks . We will be booking this hotel from now on for events near the walk of fame .

Quaint and cozy old style hotel! Very clean and very service oriented. Large rooms with huge bathrooms (walk in showers with bench), seating area, fridge and microwave. Hotel let us check in 5 hours early! Close to Hollywood sights but in a residential area which gives some peace and quiet. Great value! Best Western has upped it's game!

« Good location, good stay »

This hotel is very central as it is within walking distance of the hollywood boulevard and shopping complex. The rooms were large, clean and neat and decorated with Hollywood memorabilia. Good and affordable hotel for a short stay in Hollywood.

    « Outstanding »

I totally expected a mediocre motel and what we got was a very very nice place. The staff were outstanding. Everything was nearby. Parking on site for a reasonable rate. Fantastic pool. The rooms were clean and impressive. The only issue was the noise during the night (2:00 am) from drunk inconsiderate females which I quickly resolved by confronting them and addressing their rudeness. Signs posted reminding thoughtlessly people to SHHHH! is a good idea. The environment is art-deco Miami style. Loved it, recommend it, and would stay there again! Well done Best Western Plus!

    « Great Location »

I mostly chose this hotel because of where it is located. Great for hiking in the hollywood hills just north of the hotel. Interesting vibe. Hollywood is a little sketchy but its central for a lot of sights and restaurants in the city. I visited in December so I didn't use the pool but definitely would have if it was warmer in LA at the time.

    « Great location »

Great location. Outside appears a little dated but rooms are nice and staff provided excellent service. Good value for the money. There is valet parking and a daily parking fee of $22. Breakfast at the 101 Café is great. Good way to start your day.

    « Very comfortable stay! »

A clean and comfortable hotel 10 mins walk from Hollywood Boulevard. Large room with Kitchenette containing fridge and microwave in the room. Loved all the Hollywood pictures covering the walls. Adjoining restaurant serving good food. A supermarket and restaurants nearby. We would definitely stay here again.

    « Highly Recommended »

Hotel that plays its Hollywood location well. Fun decor, great rooms, convenient location. The restaurant was convenient (if a little bland) and the neighboring Thai restaurant, BBQ shop and donut shot offered quick alternatives. Lyft drivers had no problem with the location, which was a perfect walking/riding springboard to our Hollywood adventures. We recently also stayed at the Farmers Daughter (in the same price range) and found the rooms at this Best Western to have better beds, more space. Would stay again.

    « Boutique hotel experience »

We loved this Hollywood-themed hotel. We were very happy with our beautiful room, which was luxuriously large. We only stayed overnight, so we didn't get a good feel for the neighborhood, but we appreciated the easy access from the 101. On the down side we could hear the highway from our room; I'd recommend earplugs. The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, and the decor represents the LA scene in a fun way. I'd definitely stay here again.

« Very good value! Perfect location... »

This is a very nice hotel overall. Service at the front desk was 100, also the man in charge of the valet parking was very polite. This is a very clean hotel, with a hollywood theme that you will enjoy for sure. The price was too cheap if you think of the location, service and quality of the rooms. Pool is awesome, with a section 9ft deep. You can go walking from here to the walk of fame, which is a plus. I absolutely recommend it.

A nice hollywood hotel with a nice restaurant for both breakfast as well as lunch/dinner. Short walk down to walk of fame and the hop-on-hop-off busses. Nice staff at the hotel and nice hollywood decor. Extra plus for the view of the hollywood sign from our bathroom.

The hotel is very quirky with all the fantastic photos and autographs on every wall. The front desk staff are extremely friendly and helpful.Loved the 101 café-great food at affordable prices (very hard working staff).Loved my room (411)-especially that there was a fridge, microwave and coffee maker.Room was spacious and also quiet. Was centrally located to all the things I wanted to see and do in Hollywood. Will definitely stay here again if I get back to Hollywood.

« Very good for the price »

Very obliging staff willing to assist in any way, this also includes Cafe 101. The room was perfectly suitable and clean with great bedding. The bar area was also most pleasant. Walking distance to Hollywood Boulevard for most people. I will happily stay again.

    « Little Gem »

This hotel is situated in a great location about 20 min walk from the walk of fame, a supermarket just two blocks up, and a superb diner joining the lobby which is conveniently open until 3am. The staff were so helpful and friendly with everything! There is a lot of history in this property which can be identified throughout the hotel from the lobby, to the diner and into the rooms. While some people have mentioned the rooms are dated, I found the room to be very clean. The bathroom was immaculately dressed in marble with a double shower! The cleanliness of the hotel was overall superb. The only thing I would update are the pillows in the rooms and the carpet to floorboards/tiles. I would definitely recommend and stay here again!

Loved this place! Staff was great, rooms were very comfortable, close to freeway access, 10 minutes from universal studios. Coffee from restaurant was perfect and breakfast was pretty good too. Would definitely stay again.

« Cool hotel but quite old »

The location of the hotel is just fine, only 10 minutes walk from Hollywood Blvd. This is a relatively small hotel, but you can tell that it is old and needs to be updated - the elevator (yes there's only one) is so slowwwww, it takes good 15 seconds only for the door to close, and then substantial amount of time for each floor. Good thing there are only 4 floors. We had the best room in the house, unit 401, which is very spacious with super spacious bathroom, and a view to the famous Hollywood sign on the hills. The towels were brand new! The only thing we didn't like in our room was the AC, it was an old window unit, which was noisy and not too efficient. There's a great dinner at the hotel ground floor which offers great breakfast.

« great stay with comfy beds »

Nice hotel with very comfortable beds. Quite away from walk of fame and attractions approx. 5 minute taxi ride. Parking is expensive for what appears to be the hotels own outside carpark. Lots of signed memorabilia on the walls.

« Convenient Location and Clean Rooms »

Great hotel for a Hollywood location. 8 minute walk (2 blocks) to the start of the Stars on Hollywood Blvd. Parking was expensive at $60 a night, so try and park off-street. Rooms very clean and modern, as the whole hotel has had a makeover. One of the oldest diners in the city is still serving food 20 hours a day, great ambience. Would stay again.

    « Hotel »

This hotel is very easy to get to, coming from the North or the south of the 101. Once there, its a quick walk to Hollywood Blvd.(about 2 blocks) I was concerned about parking and safety of walking, but I left my car at the hotel and I felt safe during my walk to and from the attractions. The staff at the hotel were all very friendly and helpful. The room was ok, nothing fancy, but very clean.

    « Hidden little gem »

I love this hotel. We stayed here for only one night but everything was excellent. Hotel is perfect location to Hollywood attractions. It is located on a busy road but does not feel that way inside the property. Parking was always available and safe. Hotel and rooms are nicely decorated old hollywood theme and clean. Our room 405 was very large and we never heard other guest or staff . The pool is very vintage Hollywood and my kids had fun. The restaurant located in the lobby area was very tasty and very friendly staff also its open till 3am. Overall the hotel is great with a very nice and helpful staff. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

« Cooler than cool in a great location »

What a hoot! Kitsch abounds in this Hollywood Hills hotel. Everything was fun and worked. The decor is 50's hollywood, the diner is excellent, the staff is helpful and the location is perect, close to Hollywood. There is a pool but I didn't use it. The rooms are basic but we lived the double sink and windows in the bathroom. Can't wait to be back!

« Decent hotel in Hollywood »

It's a good, basic hotel for the price you pay. Rooms have dated deco and furniture, but are of a good size and are clean. Location is fine, 3 blocks up a small hill from one of the ends of Hollywood walk of fame, which isn't a nice part of it, not many places to eat around, you really will need to walk a bit further to find something other than a Starbucks. Staff is friendly and helpful. Haven't tried the restaurant or breakfast at the hotel.

« Great Location in Hollywood! »

We were really happy with the location of this hotel as we were able to walk to the heart of Hollywood. Our room was spacious with a view of the hills and sign. Coffee was good in the coffee shop and although we didn't go in, the bar looked nice and was busy. Parking was quite expensive although we only stayed one night.

« Great place to stay and see Hollywood! »

Walked to every thing I wanted to see in Hollywood! Very Cool setting and a lot of Charm. Great rate for a nice place with a helpful staff that wasn't faking it.. They are really nice people! The restaurant has great dinner food and a hard working staff. I will definitely stay here again! Thank You! : )

« Great location to Hollywood »

Location was fantastic. Can walk to many attractions and not far from transport. Our room was facing the motorway so was a bit noisy. Room has a microwave which helped. Flight landed early morning and was given our room at around 10.00 am. Much appreciated.

« Hipster hangout in hollywood »

Stayed here for a few days on business. Enjoyed every minute of it. All of the communal areas are great, the 50s style pool area, the minibar bar and the 101 dinner all pull off what they are attempting. I especially like the cosy ambience in the minibar. The rooms could be better, they are clean and functional but the bathroom was small and the decor of the rooms do not really match the rest of the hotel. Over all very enjoyable and I'm sure I'll be back as it strikes a great balance between the expense of some other local hotels and cheaper options near by.

« Fun place to Stay! »

Stayed here with my three sisters for a night. During our stay we dined in the Cafe and had drinks in the Bar, loved the atmosphere. We all agreed our stay was FANTASTIC! We will definitely return again.

    « Good hotel »

Our first impression of the outside was a little unimpressed...BUT...when we got inside, the lobby was amazing!!! Pictures and autographs of celebs everywhere, small but classy! Pool was really nice and warm in the middle of winter, rooms were good, most of the staff were good. Upon check in, we were asked for a credit card for hotel payment even though we had already paid. After that was cleared up, she then asked for credit card for deposit, but said we'd put down a cash deposit as we don't have one. She was a little unsure on what to do, so called on someone else. Apart from that, good hotel and good location

    4
« Great location. A little noise. Great Value »

Location and pricing. Can't beat it here. Café 101 downstairs. Ask for a room on the backside, it's quitter then! Can be noisy as all the rooms face in and it's just an echo chamber. You pay $20-25 for parking. So keep that in mind. But it's SUPER convenient with the Café below and the location.

    2
« Good Location and Staff... but hotel cuts corners and it shows. »

Pros: Great diner attached, the second room we were placed into was clean, super close to Hollywood Palladium- a short 8-10 minute walk. Upon check in, we asked if they had a room with larger beds available (we were in 2 doubles). They said they didn't have ANYTHING to move us to since they were sold out. Fair enough but they were nice about it. I do have to thank the front desk staff who moved us from the first room, otherwise we would have found accommodations elsewhere. Cons: -The first room we were placed into was on the first floor and the people above us were noisy. The refrigerator did not work, there was duct tape holding the bed skirt together on BOTH beds, the room smelled like a public bathroom (really bad), there were black marks all over the walls (it NEEDS a paint job), and the "clean" remote that Best Westerns have was NOT a clean remote. It was a standard Direct TV remote. -Upon referring all of the above problems to the front desk within 10 minutes of arriving, they offered to move us to a different room. They moved us to the top floor with 2 queens (which made me feel as though they lied to us at check in about being sold out.....) Anyway, the room smelled great, refrigerator worked, nice clean bathroom etc. BUT our room faced the on/off ramp. This would not have been a problem had the window actually had weather stripping for insulation from noise AND from the cold. Instead, the window did not close all the way which made typical LA traffic INCREDIBLY loud. Finally, at 3 AM, I actually had to put a thin shirt of mine between the window and the window frame to create a sound barrier to block out the crazy noise. This worked well, but then again, it is a shame I had to do it at all. Overall, this hotel is convenient if attending a concert in the area. Front desk kind of depends on who you get but generally they are nice, the rooms are either hit or miss it looks like. This hotel definitely takes short cuts to cut costs and it shows (it needs paint, bed skirts held with duct tape, no weather stripping in the windows). A little insane since rooms run $150-$200.

    « Best Best Western »

Beautifully decorated with autographed pics, vinyl records and other hollywood memorabilia all over the walls and the rooms, this very tastefully done up hotel is the nicest looking best western I've seen. After being greeted very cheerfully by a gentleman at the reception, we were quickly checked in, even though we arrived pretty early in the morning. We were even given a map and were told about all the interesting things to do and see around the area. The location is really nice with the Hollywood Walk of Fame just a few mins walk away. Like I mentioned earlier, our room was done up in keeping with the Hollywood theme with framed pictures and vinyl records (seen better in the pics attached). The room had a nice bed, coffee machine, microwave, desk, TV and an alarm clock. Unfortunately I can't remember what the view from the room was. There is very nice diner located adjacent to this hotel and we came back for breakfast even after we had checked out a week ago. I can't remember the timings, but I think it was open till pretty late at night. Would definitely recommend this place, especially at the price it usually goes for.

« Hollywood Hills Neighborhood stay »

Easy location, but the hotel parking is expensive. Lovely staff. The new bar/lounge is retro- charming. The rooms have flair, but could use some refreshing. The commons places are fun but also need some maintenance -stairwells feel dirty.

« Great hotel but beware of valet parking »

We had a lovely time here. The rooms and corridors were decorated with movie memorabilia which made it very interesting moving around the hotel. We had hoped for a room overlooking the Hollywood sign as we booked well in advance but were disappointed to face a wall. When mentioning this on check out the reception said they would have been happy to have moved us if we had said, and I must say they did seem pretty genuine. Sunset Boulevard and the Chinese theatre are in walking distance but those with restricted mobility may wish to consider a hotel nearer to the town as it is quite a steep walk back up to the hotel, I for one wouldn't want to push a wheelchair back up the hill. As smokers we asked if they had a smoking area and the lady in the diner said 'no' we would have to go to a bar or hotel further up the road which we did. We also found out when we checked out that they do in fact have a covered smoking area, which we could have used along with the hotel bar rather than spend our money else where. The dining and bar staff were also friendly, but bar prices were as steep as the hill we had to walk up so any went into the bar once. We would definitely recommend the hotel and will visit again HOWEVER BEWARE THE VALET PARKING: When we arrived the car park was empty and parked our YUCON xl rental in one of the larger parking bays on the same side as the valet desk, the valet who assisted us with our cases seemed keen to help loading our many cases and assisting us to the lobby. However when we went out that evening it had been moved right onto the corner of the road that takes you down to the underground car par. To say we were not happy is an understatement. The valet who had replaced him I can't recall his name was a delightful gentleman from the Philippines who did everything in his power to rectify the problem and was able to move a few cars around to get us to a parking spot of safety. He was also confused as to why our rental had been moved when the car park was empty when we arrived. I must add that there were porches a Lamborghini and other high end vehicles perfectly parked in the car park. In the morning the original valet was in the car park and when I asked him why he had parked our care where he did when the car park was empty his reply was "I can park it where I like, I am not breaking the law" He then went on to screech at me to "come look come look" it was ok where it was. He was rude and obnoxious and not a good advert for the service on offer. In my opinion he moves cars out of the way as soon as he can to get more tips. When we stay next time I will seek alternative parking before parking my car here. The hotel informed me that the car park itself is leased out to a different party and not in their control

« Nice, particularly for the price »

A nice spot to stay at in the west Hollywood area. It has a lot going for it, including: 1. Location. I literally looked out at the Hollywood sign out my window. Walking distance to lots, One block up from Hollywood Blvd. two blocks from Sunset Blvd. Down Franklin within walking distance you have restaurants, a great place for a morning coffee and a grocery store. Close to Griffith Park as well. 2. Price is good, particularly for the area. 3. Great staff, I accidentally left a valuable item in the desk when we checked out, they called me immediately. Also super friendly throughout the stay. 4. Comfy beds and pillows. Room can be as nice as you want, but if the bed sucks, it's no fun. 5. A coffee shop in the building. Good food. 6. A cool little bar in the building. 7. A zillion channels of DirecTV. It's a Best Western, so it's not the fanciest, but I was very happy with my stay and would recommend and stay there again.

« Best Western Hollywood Hills Lives Up To Reputation »

My wife and I have been using this hotel for over 25 years. Our trips to LA have been always enhanced by the funky, delightful nature of the Hollywood Hills Hotel, whose owners and decor still reflect a love affair with the golden days of Hollywood. Corny as it may appear, the hotel captures a combination of 1950s aesthetic and Hollywood memorabilia fascination. Photos of stars abound in the halls, in the rooms, in the lobby, echoing the ever-present popular power of our American icons. The Brits have their royalty; we have our movie stars. So staying at a clean, comfortable, roomy, convenient, friendly, reasonably priced hotel that exudes joy about its location is always a plus. And the 101 Coffee Shop off the lobby is tops for breakfast, lunch or dinner or snacks any time of day or night. The hotel's new watering hole/lounge/bar is an added attraction. And half a block from the freeway is about as convenient as it will ever get in a city totally dependent on auto transportation. Family friendly, children and pet-friendly, the Hollywood Hills Best Western can't be beat. (The valet parking can rack up the bill if you're staying a loner while, so you might want to park yourself.)

    « Interesting night! »

First the hotel is really cool. The pictures on the walls of all the celebrities are very cool. It's an older hotel they've done an incredible rennovation on. The room we had was really nice. Nice big beds, the bathroom was huge, with a fridge and microwave. Also a very nice flatscreen TV. We were there on New Year's eve so it was very busy. And the noise from other guests during out stay will be attributed to the timing and not the hotels fault. I would highly recommend this hotel if you're planning a stay in Hollywood. It was so close to the Hollywood walk of fame, Chinese Theatre, and many other tourist spots. The Hollywood sign is right out the back door and it's only 5 minutes from Universal Studios. Uber was great from here.

This is a great hotel in the heart of the crazy hollywood area. the room was great roomy clean very big bathroom and a mini fridge setup that was better than my college house. this is a new spot to be a regular stay when in the hollywood area. parking self vs valet is the same price and if you call down your car is ready at the front door when you step off the elevator. the on site cafe is great. the people all over the hotel make you feel welcome at 3am 9am and 3pm .

    « Excellent stay again »

We arrived from Australia early and prior to us checking in, I emailed asking about the possibility of an early check in. Correspondence directly with the hotel was excellent. Upon arrival at the hotel, our requested room was available and the front desk assistance was excellent. We even got the room where you could see the Hollywood sign which was a bonus and appreciated. I have stayed at this hotel 3 times now when visiting the USA and staying in LA and like its location and service. I have always found the people at the hotel very helpful.

« Classic Hollywood, great locale, nice rooms, good cafe »

Great throwback to classic Hollywood. I loved the old photos, etc. on the walls. We had to wander each floor (and the stairwells!) to see it all. Good location, just a few blocks from Grauman's Theater. We could see the Hollywood sign from our room. The parking was tight but we always had a spot. Both self parking and valet were $20. The café had a pretty decent selection at reasonable (less than average hotel) prices. The chicken salad, chowder, burgers and desserts were all great. Our room was spacious (we had a corner room). The beds were nice with ample pillows for everyone. There was a lot of space for our suitcases (2 luggage racks!). Heat/ac was responsive and reasonably quiet. The shower head was high enough to get under and had great pressure. And the shower and bathroom in general had a lot of space for our things. But we only got three towels. Each day we had to go down and ask for a fourth towel. The luggage carts were readily available, but they were a challenge to get into the small elevator. The staff was competent and friendly. I would certainly stay here again.

    « A solid option »

A comfortable hotel with friendly staff and a good diner next door and nice bar downstairs. The gym and pool are good facilities. It's fairly convenient, within easy walking distance to Hollywood walk of fame, Madame Tussaud's etc. although the walk felt a little unsafe at night. The cab fare from the airport at 4pm cost $100 so I would recommend finding another way there if you are coming in the afternoon!

    « A disappointing stay »

Sorry to say, we had a disappointing stay. The hotel is newly renovated, quaint & close to Hollywood Blvd. Our visit was plagued with a number of minor issues, such as TV not working, noise from the bar downstairs, very noisy aircon, traffic etc. We did get a free breakfast for our troubles, but still did not enjoy our stay. The trendy bar downstairs has great promise, but the barman insisted on having the music on max. We asked him to turn it down slightly & he did. Then he proceeded to ask customers to say things twice because he could not hear them (& vice versa). Regardless, a good hotel, but not as close to Hollywood amenities as you would think.

    4
« Great location for the Hollywood sites »

The location of the hotel was great. It is within walking distance to Hollywood stars and the Chinese Theatre you also get a nice view of the Hollywood sign from the area. I had car and I thought that the location was a good central area for the sites I went to see. My only complaint was that I thought the windows are not very well insulated because my room was on third floor and I could hear people and noises outside my window.

« A perfect vacation ending at the Best Western! »

We were on an extended vacation in LA after a cruise and stayed at this Best Western Plus. From the spacious rooms to the awesome service, the hotel was beyond expectations. The decor in the room and the lobby just screams Hollywood and I loved it! The employees were helpful and professional. The only issue I had was the required valet parking fee of $20 a day when my car was parked 3 spaces from the door. Overall though it is a wonderful hotel.

    « hollywood stay »

I am very happy with my stay...the staff were great and friendly. The room was comfort and the kitchenette came in handy since we ate our breakfast in our room ...the restaurant located on the hotel property was very expensive. I loved bring close to the hollywood SIgn it was great knowing that it was less than a 2 mins walk.

    4
« Great location, reasonable price »

The location is really good, pretty much short driving/ walking distance to most of the attractions and the price per night is reasonable. The room size is sufficient as well. Those are the positive things of this hotel. On the not-so-positive side for me is probbaly the bathroom, it is kind of old and it is needed an upgrade plus the parking fee is 22 US/ day inside the hotel while there are plenty parking spots for over night outside the hotel. Most of tourists probably don't need day parking, so, it is really up to you. Carport sometimes takes a bit more time but people who work there are nice.Overall, it is a nice hotel.

Yes , what a excellent location ! Very convenient to get anywhere in LA , with valet parking ( I think $20 a day ). Big , clean ,quiet room with huge comfortable bathroom . Wonderful , friendly and very helpful staff .And also walking distance to local restaurants ( quite good and not to expensive) and also nice supermarket, where you can buy all groceries and you can dine too . Yes they selling nice and not very expensive hot food , and is few tables outside where you can enjoy your meal.I like the most pizza by Wolfgang Pluck and salad from deli department. Anyway next time when I'm in LA that the hotel I'm staying. Thank you all staff from Best western for enjoyable stay , and I hope to see you soon !

« Nice but needs a little work »

On first impressions, the hotel was cute, but the gentlemen (Max) that was on the front desk wasn't very helpful, he seemed to be very confused and told us off because we were "supposed" to be there the night before, but in fact I had correspondence with one of his colleagues stating that we will be arriving around 7am and would like to check in when we get there, due to our long flight from Australia, so I booked the room from the night before to guarantee its availability. On the second day of being there we went down stairs and asked Max to call for one of our tours and make sure it was all booked in and confirmed, the next day when we were supposed to go on the tour, the tour guide called and Max told them, that there was no one staying there by that name. So if you are going to ask them to confirm anything, ask one of the other helpful gentlemen that work there. Besides those few incidences, the hotel was lovely, the room was spacious and the bathroom was nice, the only thing I would criticise would be the lift, It was a bit scary at times. The location of the hotel is great, its easy to get to places and I would highly recommend their driver Eunice, she got us out of a messy situation (ask the front desk, where to go and where not to go).

« The best hotel stay I've had in a while. »

I love the vibe of this place. Very chill and kinda old Hollywood. The staff was friendly. Check in was quick. The new bar downstairs is CUTE! And the good ol' 101 Coffee Shop is open until 3am (yay!) which came in handy after a night out. I can usually find SOMETHING to complain about when I stay at a hotel. Especially because the price I paid is usually not representative of the quality of the room I receive. So I was SHOCKED when my $150 room was so fantastic! It had windows on 2 sides (corner room 202), a small kitchenette with coffee maker and microwave, a nice TV, very comfortable bed, a sitting area, a full length mirror on the closet doors, a HUGE bathroom with two sinks and lots of cool old Hollywood posters/photographs. I was really pleased! It was a first. The only slightly negative thing was that the water in the shower took forever to get hot. Not a deal breaker. Love this place. Will stay here again.

    « Nice »

Nice motel style hotel with friendly staff and great location. Only slight issue was people making noise around 3am for most nights we were there even though we were on the top floor at the back. View of the Hollywood sign from the bathroom window.

    « Quality Stay & Great Value »

Everything about this hotel was great. Our room was bigger than we expected. The bathroom was bigger than expected. Only the shower head lacked water pressure and we had a window in the shower that could not close securely so it was a bit drafty. Having a restaurant attached to the hotel was great but do not eat the Spinach salad with warm bacon dressing, the dressing is the oil from frying bacon (completely gross). The elevator is small and awkwardly shaped but we managed. I enjoyed my stay.

« An affordable gem walking distance to shops, restaurants, and Hollywood Blvd! »

This hotel was such a great find and will definitely be my go-to for future Hollywood trips. The staff was great, the rooms clean and inviting, and the area comfortable. Before even getting to the hotel, I was happy with the staff. I made the original reservation using a discount code and it couldn't be canceled or altered - I needed to add a night and the hotel was really nice about making sure that the two reservations would have notes or something letting staff know they were connected. I was worried we may have to change rooms or there would be confusion with staff, but it was all good. The hotel was so nice about us checking in late and dealing with the valet was really easy. Note: People who are upset that parking is valet only and/or costs $20 - it's not a secret! You can find that price anywhere so it's not a "hidden fee" - you just weren't looking and want something to be upset about. Parking in L.A. can be awful so $20 for my car to be safe and for me to not have to hunt for a spot, I'm ok with that. Our friends who came by to have lunch with us and carpool to the event we were in town for seemed to have an easy time finding street parking nearby as well, which was great. We ended up with an accessible room with a huge bathroom. Everything was clean and comfortable. I loved having the little kitchen area and in the bathroom, the lighting was great for doing makeup! And two sinks is amazing. My only complaint is having no toilet seat made me constantly worry I was going to drop something while I was getting ready, like my makeup or worse, my phone. We didn't visit the diner downstairs but it made the lobby smell delicious every time we walked through. Wi-Fi was surprisingly fast for free hotel wi-fi - Netflix was no problem!! Housekeeping was really annoying throughout our stay though, that's my only big complaint. We had the do not disturb sign up yet had to turn away multiple housekeepers again and again. It took me going to the front desk to have a staff member tell them to leave us alone for us to get some quiet in the morning. Overall though, the stay was great. Check-in and check-out were both a breeze. The hotel is cute and has a lot of character with the celebrity photos in the rooms. Everything was close too! We walked to get breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and could walk Hollywood Blvd. as well. For the price, this place is absolutely perfect for Hollywood trips!

« Wrong room provided, unpleasant smell in room »

Booked a king room directly from Best Western, but got a queen room with accessible bathroom. Hotel staff disputed with us until we showed them our email confirmation with the king room, but still they did not give us the correct room because they were overbooked. All they did was give us free parking, which they say "more than compensates" for the mistake, but that was not what we wanted. A later email to Best Western was forwarded to the hotel's management, which again dismissed our complaint and said the free parking more than compensates for the mistake. I'm very disappointed with how Best Western handled this situation. The rooms also had a very unpleasant smell. I would avoid this hotel overall.

    « Honeymoon! »

We stayed here for 4 nights in our America tour for our honeymoon. Great size room and beds were comfy. Few tiny downsides tho, the bar was very expensive, $6 for a watered down beer! We stayed mid November and the sun was low in the sky so the pool never got touched by the sun which was sad as the weather was lovely and we wanted to lay out in it! The photo of Bill Cosby on the wall was slightly inappropriate lol 5 min walk to the Hollywood strip but I wouldn't recommend walking there or back at night time, wasn't pleasant at all!!!!

« Great staff and great hotel! »

I stayed here with my folks for a total of 5 nights. I stayed from 22nd nov - 25th nov in a double room with 2 double beds. And because of the great experience, instead of looking for another hotel after flying back from san francisco, we decided to stay another night on 2nd december before flying back to australia. The room is quite spacious with a huge bathroom. Room has fridge, microwave and coffee. There's also free wi fi. Great location if you plan to see hollywood blvd, walk of fame. The restaurant cafe 101 has great staff and open for breakfast up to around 2am. Special thanks to Jeffrey at front desk for a wonderful service, very helpful and accomodating. He arranged our LA city tour which was great and he also helped me in keeping my luggage. I left one of my luggages for a week without any extra charge. He also organised our transfer to the airport. All the other staff are very helpful with carrying our luggages and also we brought some fresh fish and asked then to put it in their freezer and they helped us with this as well. I highly recommend this hotel and i defnitely will stay here again when i visit LA. Thank you once again and keep up the good work!

« Great Location, Great Hotel »

We stayed here as part of a road trip around California for 3 nights. The hotel itself is situated perfectly to start the Hollywood walk of fame, just 5 minutes walk away, and very good value for money. The rooms were clean and spacious and were decorated in a quirky way. The staff in the hotel were very friendly and were full of knowledge of where to go and what to do with your time there. We caught the hop on hop off bus 15 minutes walk away and found this was the cheapest and most effective way to see all of LA and Beverly hills with the least amount of time. We also received free tickets to Madam Tussauds when you bought a 48hour bus ticket. The hotel restaurant was ok, however we found plenty of other places, some a lot cheaper, to have breakfast so only ate there once. Overall great hotel, which we would definitely stay in again.

    « Lovely hotel »

Stayed here for 4 nights. Hotel is in a great location, only a few minutes walk to Hollywood boulevard. Rooms were comfortable, there was a fridge and microwave. We only used the 101 diner once for dinner and it was nice, the other times, we just bought cereal and milk from the local store. There is free wifi which is good, corridors were bright and clean. Staff were friendly, they booked us a taxi to universal studios and booked the LA city tour, which, by the way was fantastic - a great way to see LA! All in all a lovely hotel within easy reach to the main sights, had a great time in LA and if i came again i would probably choose this hotel:-)

    « Love! »

This hotel is fantastic. Quiet, clean, economical, well appointed, great location. The staff is lovely but not obtrusive, the neighborhood is basically residential but you're still close to many activities. The restaurant has a variety of types of food and the new bar is quite festive.

« Clean and Comfortable, Great Value »

My husband and I stayed here due to the proximity to Kaiser Hospital where our grandson was born. We ended up searching Trip Advisor when we were at the hospital waiting for baby to arrive so it was a last minute reservation. Based on reviews we chose this hotel. It is a remodeled old motel that has tons of charm and big clean comfy rooms. We managed to get a great rate on the Best Western website. Our room was third floor in the back building and was super quiet. Some of our family stayed in the front section and said it was a little noisy. The location is great. You are close enough to walk to Hollywood and Highland and are just across the street from the landmark Hollywood Towers. There are several restaurants in the area and the awesome Cafe 101 is attached to the hotel. The staff is amazing! They helped us secure taxis when the little man decided to arrive at 2 am and gave us all late check outs. Great stay!

    « Excellent location ?? »

This location has an excellent location as per the title. From here you can explore LA really well. The rooms and layout is a bit 'out doors ie' but none the less has a really good feel about it. The rooms were a little of the small size to accommodate are needed for example 2 large open suit cases for people of the move. The staff were 'extremely' helpful. They assisted with everything we asked for within their means. They were friendly and generally nice people to have a chat with. There is car parking available here and a small restaurant. All in all - we like the look and feel of the hotel. I hope this helps! Best, Cos

« I will definitely stay here again »

I was recently in LA for the weekend and needed a hotel in close proximity to my son's soon to be college. We live in California and are very familiar with the area, so I figured it would be easier to get a hotel close to the school so we could walk to the open house without the hassle of looking for parking in downtown Los Angeles. I did a lot of research and found this Best Western location was a perfect fit location wise. I have been to Los Angeles many times and am very picky when it comes to hotels, especially in Hollywood. First off, the hotel itself is in a GREAT location. If you have never been to Hollywood and are looking to see the main sights, many of the are literally within walking distance, as the hotel is located parallel to Hollywood Blvd. If you have been there before, it is very convenient to be able to come at go whichever mode of transportation you choose. The area is pretty safe to walk back and forth if you don't want to deal with looking for parking in downtown Los Angeles. We took a late flight, so we got to the hotel around 11:30 p.m. and we walked into a bright lobby with courteous, pleasant and quite knowledgeable staff. Our check in and check out was extremely quick and easy. When I mean quick, I mean literally under 5 minutes. The hotel was clean and our room was extremely clean, comfortable, very convenient to get to and quite roomy. Our room was located right by the elevator and was extremely quiet at all times. We did not have to deal with noisy guests even once. Our room had 2 queen beds, free WI-FI, cable TV, a walk in shower with Jack and Jill sinks and several other furnishings that made it very quaint. We had a perfect view of the Hollywood sign right outside our window. One thing I really liked was the bedding. They don't have those "not sure if you've been washed" type comforters on their beds. The bedding was very clean, comfortable and simple. You can smell the cleanliness on them which was a giant plus in my book. Our room also has a complimentary magazine that gave a ton of information about the local sights and restaurants. Although we are familiar with the area, it still came in quite helpful when trying to get in as much as we could for the weekend. Rooms have plenty of outlets for charging phones, laptops, etc. and we liked that you could open the windows to get fresh air in if you don't want the AC on. They also have a bar and separate diner right on the property that is open from 6 am to 3 am and serves anything on the menu anytime. A plus for people that are up very early or very late. The food was good and you get a lot for your money. The portions are pretty big. They have mandatory valet parking for $20.00 a day if you park your car on their property, which I would recommend. The only thing that was a little uncomfortable, was not knowing if the gentlemen that provided the car service were solely paid on tips or not. We were on a budget for this trip, so I couldn't offer much in the way of tipping and I would only say that if the valet's are not paid from the $20.00 daily parking fee, maybe the cost could be a little less to allow people on a budget to be able to tip them sufficiently. Otherwise, I honestly don't have one complaint about this hotel. As a frequent traveler, I know how important it is to be able to get great quality at a good price. I will definitely stay here again and will continue to recommend it to people looking for a clean, safe, comfortable place to stay in the Hollywood area.

« Great Location and Cute Hotel »

The hotel is located about an 8 minute walk from Hollywood & Vine and easily accessible to the 101. The hotel is very cute and clean with fun decorations of old Hollywood stars. The staff is incredibly friendly and accommodating. It's a wonderful getaway hotel!!

    « Good location »

This property is in a good location if you are interested in walk of fame and universal studios. Walk of fame is just few minutes walking distance and universal studios is only around 10 m. Away by car. If you dont have a car u can order an Uber it will cost you to iniversal studios about $10. Staff are helpful amd even the hotel owner who refunded me when I had to change my stay from 4 nights to only one night for some circumstances. He was polite and proffessional and I like to see more of these people while travelling. Room and bathroom are clean, however the corridor and the room it self was a bit dark. I was allocated a room in the 4rth floor.

« Good hotel. Valet not so great »

Great service & room until my rental car came out of the garage with a large scratch. Would visit again maybe with only parking myself. Cafe 101 was a great spot to visit. Location was perfect short walk to Hollywood Blvd.

    « Great Location!! »

We liked this hotel for a lot of reasons!! 1. We arrived early and they let us check in early!! Was nice to get changed and head out to see Hollywood Blvd 2. The staff on the desk were very helpful and giving us directions and also tips to great restaurants and entertainment that we would have never found on our own! 3. The rooms were clean and the bed was comfy after a long day sight seeing!! 4. Check out was easy breezy!! 5. Cafe 101 has great coffee although the male server that was there that day was a little grumpy! Didn't bother us as we had a whole day of fun a head! 6. The price was great for the area and like I said located so close to main attractions! I would for sure stay here again if I am ever in Hollywood!!

    « Nice and friendly »

We stayed 4 nights and the four of us shared one room with 2 queensized beds. The room was spacious and clean. The staff was helpful and nice. We had breakfast at the diner in the same house and it was good food and nice staff. We got the only room with a view of the Hollywoodsign. The only things that wasn't great is that the aircondition was to loud to have going during the night so it got a bit hot and the insolation between the rooms were a bit thin. That wasn't a problem until the neighbors desided to watch tv on pretty high volym. Then we had a little bit trouble to fall asleep. Also there were some homeless in the area but they didn't bother us at all even when passed so over all a good visit and I would come back.

    « Great hotel »

Great hotel! I was there to visit family in the area for five nights. The staff was great, and the cafe was convenient and had good food. The valet service was quick. Interesting decor, and comfortable bed. Quiet hotel, even though it is on a fairly busy street and near the 101.

« Great location, great service, amenities galore! »

My boyfriend and I stayed here a week ago Saturday and we loved it. We were on our way down to Disneyland and planned an overnight in LA but waited til the last minute to find accommodations. Nearly every place I looked at was either sold out or really expensive, for whatever reason. I had been to the diner here before so knew this was a cute hotel in a great location, near everything we wanted to do. Unfortunately, the rate was nearly double what it was the night prior to our stay but still more reasonable than anything else. We had a room on the first floor right near the pool and it was very spacious and nice, and had we been there more than one night the little kitchen area would have been a great bonus! We took full advantage of the Minibar (the bar in the hotel), the pool, and the diner. all great. Easy access to everything we wanted to do, the staff were all nice and the retro decor was MUCH appreciated. I could find only two negatives with this hotel: 1.) some of the other hotel guests were REALLY loud in the morning, right outside our door. I'm basing this on the close proximity of the rooms, and our room being right near the stairs. 2.) We had to valet our car, at a rate of $20 a day, but we were a little perplexed at how often to tip the valet. We only took the car out once during our stay, but felt we had to tip each time we had interaction with the valet (when we initially parked, when we took it out, when we brought it back, when we left, etc). Need to learn the protocol on that. Otherwise, I would definitely stay here again!

    « Good Location »

Stayed here to end our American trip. Location was good as you could walk to the Hollywood walk of fame and restaurants. Very close to Universal Studios. Room was okay, Kitchen area was a bonus, nice and clean. Air conditioning was very very noisy but needed to use as room was very hot, room had no view and was quite claustrophobic. Internet access was very poor, reception staff stated we should use at less busy times which was a poor excuse!!! Probably would not stay here again, had to pay extra 20 dollars per night for parking, very average.

« Nice again, best deal in Hollywood »

4th time staying here, and every time it is great. Best deal going in Hollywood, pretty near everything. Would probably want to drive to the major attractions, but very close to Hollywood/Vine, Capital Record building. Great staff, great decor. Parking is valet on the premisis, (20.00 extra per day I believe). Very cool coffee shop attached to Hotel, and a small bar on the main floor. Love staying here!

    « Birthday Celebration »

My husband and I stayed at this Best Western, for a night of celebrating one of my co-workers Birthday in the Hollywood area. This is a very nice hotel, about two miles from the main Hollywood scene. I would stay here again, however they need to make sure they, whatever availability is begging advertise on their website is correct with what the front desk is saying. I could have saved at least $45.00 on my stay, if both the online reservation and front desk personal were both in sink.

    « Location..... »

The location of the hotel was great. We could see the Hollywood sign from the car park area of the hotel. The room that we had was right next to pool so it was quite noisy early in the morning with kids playing in the pool. The hotel has got a very retro 50s deco.

« Could be great if they made simple changes. »

Brassy, Hollywood-style hotel. Could be great but isn't. Room was too warm until I figured out that the heavy curtains were blocking the air conditioning air from adequately cooling the room. Bed wasn't firm enough and mattress was oddly thick. TV remote required me to get too close to the TV --- it was disposable type but batteries were weak and I didn't want to hassle desk about it even by phone because in middle of night the room was dark and I didn't want to wake my wife. Housekeepers should check the remotes every day.

The hotel is very retro like stepping back into the 50's. Very good location close to very thing that was Hollywood. Good value for what you paid in the area. It is clean & comfortable. The only thing is about the limited parking space & cost

« Proper Motel type hotel, quirky and highly recommended »

First impressions when we arrived quite late weren't good. There was a bad smell in the lobby and our air con was off so it was very hot. Next day I was very excited to see the Hollywood sign behind me in the bathroom mirror! From there on we grew fond of the place. The staff were all helpful. The hotel design was built around an open air pool and there was a 'proper' Hollywood diner on the ground floor. The gym was small and air con didn't work first 2 days, they did get this fixed. Will stay again.

« Good place, Great location, with friendly staff and tasty food, and amazing value for money »

At the end of our trip round California, we were delighted to have our best stay yet. Friendly helpful staff and 101 is a cool place to eat and drink without having to walk anywhere. Bit of a walk to `The Chinese Theatre`, but it was a hot day with two tired children. The pool, although small, was still fun as it went from 3foot to 9foot deep, so we had fun with the kids in that. Rooms were big and tidy too (at least 415 was), not necessarily a great view but we did have a view of the Hollywood sign from ours. One letter partly obscured by a tree though. Would definitely stay again. And if you need a shuttle/driver, ask for `Fred the Driver` knowledgeable and friendly and good value.

« Everything you need for a Hollywood stay on a budget »

We chose the BW Plus in Hollywood because in researching options for our trip to Hollywood, it seemed to offer all the basics that we were looking for and at a feasible cost. When we arrived, we learned that it was even closer to the AMDA school than we thought, as well as being within walking distance of most everything else you would want to do during a visit there. Hotel has a pool, an exercise room (which apparently is new), and is adjacent to the 101 Coffee Shop, which is a very good restaurant at which we ate several times. We were able to walk to every place that we wanted to or needed to visit. Staff were helpful. We will definitely stay there again.

    « Great location »

The hotel looks better than the photos which was a bonus. We stayed in a lovely, luxury style room. Corridors and rooms are filled with pictures/ autographs from different films which was interesting. Location is great, just up the road from the walk of fame - although we weren't really fans of LA!

hotel was clean beds were good staff were good fast and we got our rooms really quick nice bar net door open until three which is great only thing i did not like twenty dollars to park in there car park rip off considering the room was $180 a night but it is only a short walk to everything

« Fun night in Hollywood »

We selected the hotel because of the convenient location to the Hollywood Bowl. The nice staff checked us in and though we are quite familiar with the area they did offer suggestions about activities around the location. Our room 202 was great . Large room with sitting area and a big bath with double sinks always a plus . The Godfather was our main movie theme in the room we occupied and though fake, the machine gun was slightly creepy, not a big deal but a little worried I might get a horror movie theme in the future . Breakfast downstairs is an option . Nothing fancy , but nice to support something that's been able to survive decades in Hollywood

    « A great hidden Gem! »

This hotel is quite deceiving; hidden within other buildings in the area, the hotel appears to be "just another" old building. However, from the moment you step in, you are taken by the great Hollywood decor, cleanliness and dedicated staff. The service was great from the parking lot, reception desk to our room. The room was quite spacious and clean; to my surprise, it had a mini kitchen and very large bathroom. The diner, opened till 3am, served some great :diner: food; especially the breakfast. Just 2 miles from Universal, highly recommend staying here

« Best kept secret in Hollywood. »

Ive stayed here many times in the past, the most recent being for 2 nights back in Jan of 2015. Staff was kind and very efficient. My room was big, clean and decorated in movie memorabilia. Restaurant downstairs has good food and I enjoyed their breakfast. Valet Parking is available and Wifi is free. Not too far from the Hollywood walk of fame. Ill definetly stay here again when im in L.A.

« Looking for a hotel which is accessible to the stars?? »

We have had a room here for 4 days as part of a mini tour of California. All in all the hotel is a safe option, great location to the Hollywood walk of fame and main tourist areas (10 minute walk) easy access to the freeway should you need it and a decent standard room. We had a mini ( it was small) kitchen area with fridge coffee maker and cupboards. Room we had was a good size with two double beds large bathroom, massive TV! Downside of the room was noisy air con unit ( seemed too small for the room as was never really cool) and intermittent Wi-Fi. Pool area was small but ok if you needed to swim and the hotel had a restaurant and bar area ( didn't eat or drink there as always out and about. If you need a hotel close to the sites then this isn't bad. Worth shopping around as you may get better prices but locations may not be accessible. Off to Palm Springs Hard Rock Hotel so will review that shortly.

We arrived on Friday, August 28th, and checked out, Monday August 31st. I used to live in LA, and preferably wanted to stay in Hollywood, and nearby the subway station. The hollywood and vine station is only a couple blocks away from the hotel. We were able to travel to universal city walk from hollywood and vine, which was very convenient. As far as the staff goes, there was a man by the name of Derek at the front desk who was very helpful. He allowed us to check out late (12:30pm) and he held our bags for us on the check out day till about 4pm. Also, Isela allowed us to check in early the day we arrived. Check in isn't till 3 pm, but they allowed us to check in by 12 pm. We stayed in a king room, very big, fridge, and bar top, tv, and decent size bathroom. Bed was very comfortable, and it was decorated with hollywood memorabilia. Overall, the staff was very friendly, and were very welcoming. We will be staying here, on our next visit.

    « An interesting hotel »

Within walking distance of the famous Hollywood boulevard, this is what I would class as a budget hotel. However, it is very clean and tidy with a restaurant that looks like the 1950's are back. The hotel is covered in framed photos of famous actors and actresses and when I say covered, that's exactly what I mean. Comfortable beds and the room we were in was very comfortable. A reasonably priced hotel, close to the action that is Hollywood glitz.
