« Try to find a different hotel »

We booked a two night stay here as part of a baseball team. When we got to the hotel there were tons of people hanging around in the parking lot. They were smoking, drinking and cussing loudly. We also witnessed what appeared to be questionable transactions with exchanges of money for small plastic containers/bags. Apparently there are people living at this hotel. It honestly feels like project housing. After the domestic dispute in the morning we checked out and will never return. May never go to any Nest Western again. I will say the employees at the front desk were very helpful and nice. Also Sharon who was working breakfasts was awesome. She went well above and beyond to help us. She even carried breakfasts drinks to our room for us when I couldn't carry everything.

    « Worst Ever!! »

After driving 11 hrs we looked up motels on line. Best Western Hammond, La. listed at $81. We called & were quoted &135!! When we asked for AARP rate we were told $101. When asked why not the $81 on the web they said it was the last room. So why does that make it 20 or $51 more!! Arrived in room to find apparently new laminate floor with some sticky substance so bad that our shoes stuck to it all over the floor. Had to leave our shoes next to the bed in case we got up at night. Well, not a total loss as I could use the WiFi to send the emails I had written in the car all day. You guessed it: no internet connection though advertised & we had been given password. Called office and told they were "an off site hotel for internet and it comes and goes and can't be fixed until tomorrow. Enjoyed getting back in car and finding a Starbursts so I could use the internet advertised by this hotel. Gave it one star because zero was not an option. I am not a complainer as this is the first neg review I have ever written. Will keep eye out to avoid BW in the future!'

« front desk employee lack luster personality »

The front desk employee was couching in her hand and handling my credit card and Id with our using the antibacterial gel right in front of her. The room was tacky and the towel rack was not even screwed in the wall. Breakfast was piss poor

« Arrived in pouring tain »

And had to climb the stairs (with joint replacements) as nothing was available on first floor and no elevator. The room was fine although the slide bar security feature was broken on door. The worst part was NO working internet. This is inexcusable. Seems management does does care or won't train anyone on night crew to fix it as travelers arrive. Has breakfast and I'm hoping for the best

    « Best Western Hammond »

This was a random overnight unplanned stop on my way to Florida. The motel is somewhat dated but was clean and the desk staff was wonderful both at check in and check out. As a single woman travelling alone I particularly appreciated a phone call from the young woman at the front desk to make sure I was able to get in my room and everything was satisfactory.

    « Pool problems »

The front desk clerk was very kind and helpful. The hotel, however, needs work. The pool was filthy and my husband had to clean it before we allowed our child to swim. The next day, a different staff member said it was supposed to be closed...kind of scary! Our room was clean but needs some attention such as the bathroom door was coming apart at the seam. Lots of great places to shop and eat at this location.

    « Another great night »

Had a great night of sleep in a clean room and a great breakfast the next morning. Stayed here with my son for a baseball tourney and it was perfect. On a budget and the price was well worth our stay. Drive down to NO for the day and came back. Good place to stay in a prime location. Lots of shops and eateries on the same exit.

    « Good value »

Prices have been reduced since we last stayed so we were very happy! It's always clean and comfortable. It's already been mentioned about the ceiling fans. Also my husband is very happy that the shower head is mounted very high - maybe 7 ft. Lots of pillows!!!

« Friendly staff but our room smelled like a wet diaper »

First of all when you get off the interstate be very careful because you merge into traffic that is coming off of a round about. There are two round abouts and it is very confusing. The hotel room was okay but after being there about 2 hours we both noticed a smell like a wet diaper. The room was nice but there are no restaurants within walking distance but Olive Garden. However it is across a very busy highway and there are No sidewalks or Crosswalks. Be very careful lots of traffic. The hotel was ok but we would not return. Just to difficult to get around.

    « Misinformation on website »

I booked this room using TripAdvisor and the website said under room details that rollaway beds were available. When we got there, no rollaway. So one person had to sleep on the wood floor using some blankets the staff provided. Despite this, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They were the best part of the experience. Also, there were people talking at the stairwell just outside our room. They were very loud past midnight. Apparently this is a chronic problem based on other people's reviews. It seems like security needs to be increased.

    « Cat Hotel »

Horrible smelling rooms(cat urine)! Would not refund our money when we left after AC quit and phone didn't work! Floors were lamenat and pealing. Metal parts of bathroom were rusting and peeling back.

    1
    « Section 8 Housing »

Hotel was dirty, the couch in the sitting area was dirty, the pool was dirty and had algae blooms, the breakfast gave us a GI infection, and we were afraid to leave the hotel room because about a dozen people hanging out on the stairs and upper floor tried to break into our hotel room. I say section 8 housing because that's CLEARLY what was going on. Oh, and the internet didn't work.

« Ants in Bed. Cleanliness Issues »

We stayed at this hotel due to it being a pet friendly hotel. The first room had ants in the bed and a strong odor of cigarette smoke. They moved to a different room. In our second room there was a ring around the toilet that looked as if it had not been cleaned in a month. In addition, there was hand smudges on the trim and doors.

    3
    « Not good »

The place was clean and employees were very nice. However, I usually stay at some type of Best Western and this was the worst. The room was large. The sink handle came off when I turned it on, the frame around the bathroom sink mirror was falling off, and be very careful getting into the tub. They had a huge patch on the tub floor covering a hole the length of the tub. I felt like if I made a wrong move I would have fallen through. Last but not least the room wasn't all that clean. Desk and chair were all sticky. Oh yes big king size bed that was as hard as a rock.

« ALL about Customer Service! »

To be perfectly honest, this hotel is like most others in its class, a good clean place to sleep when that is what is needed. The turn in is a bit tricky but if you miss it you were not paying attention. Even though our room was near the I-12 freeway we heard nothing from inside our room. The Breakfast was pretty standard, waffles, scrambled eggs and sausage, nothing special or unusual there either. What REALLY set this hotel apart from the vast majority of properties we have stayed in was the attitude of the ENTIRE staff, from Check in, Breakfast and Check Out. They were all, each and every one wearing a smile, met us with a nice greeting and were genuinely happy to see us. If we asked for anything, it was promptly provided with that same smile. The bottom line, if we are back in town for another ULL baseball game, THIS is where we will be staying!

    « Strawberry Festival »

Everything was great except I had requested the first floor and they gave them all away to people that registered with them directly. I am handicapped and had to take the stairs to get to my room. The staff was very nice.

    « Spacious but ... »

We had an overnight stay in Hammond recently and thought we would give this hotel a try. The room rates were good so why not? Our first hurdle was getting luggage up to our room without an elevator. Our room was spacious - but the cloth couch was visible stained and the room smelled old. The room had 2 beds which was great - but the mattresses were very uncomfortable. The bathtub was stained and looked like it could use a good scrubbing. There were cut toenails on the carpet runner between the beds, UGH! So of course we had to keep our shoes on at all times when not in bed. But - none of this tops housekeeping opening our door at 10:00 p.m. for no apparent reason. Thankfully we had the door safety latch on so they couldn't actually enter the room. Totally unacceptable. Never again!

« Pet friendly?? Not really »

Picked this hotel because it shows on every site to be pet friendly. I have a certified small service dog so could really go to any hotel but try to find pet friendly hotels just because we like to patronize them. Checked in and noticed a sign which stated a $20 pet fee. I told the clerk that we had a service dog. She told me that didn't make a difference. Still had to pay the $20 due to extra cleaning cost. Interesting that it's not an issue at La Quinta. So - we could have stayed at La Quinta which is higher rated for the same price - no charge for pets. I am becoming less and less enchanted with BW. We just don't know what we're going to find. Really should put a notice on the website that quotes the pet charge.

« In town to visit family »

We stayed in two bed suite for our five day stay. So glad we spent the extra money as we had a sitting area with an additional television which came in handing when family stopped by the room to visit. Some recommendations which could have made the stay "a five" would be: 1. a more comfortable sofa as you could feel each spring. My mother had difficulty getting up out of it. The sofa in the main hotel commons was much more comfortable. 2. A small table with chairs vs the desk would have been nice for eating in the room and a place to play cards, etc. The desk was only used as a clutter collector. The best part of the stay was definitely the staff and especially Sharon who oversees to breakfast each day. She is very warm and welcoming. Sharon even assisted my mother with preparing her oatmeal for her. Sharon also gave us suggestions of places to visit while in town. The driveway in was a bit tricky as it wove in from the interstate with those roundabouts which were an accident waiting to happen. New pavement on the driveway would really be a plus. The pool was closed during our visit so can not comment on it.

Super nice stay, will definitely recommend to others,, everyone at the hotel were just like old time friends,a great area to just relax at, plenty of nice restaurants to eat at, and plenty of shopping also,,

    « Just a room »

Not at all impressed with this place. Rooms were mediocre, the breakfast was just okay, and the turn in to the place creeps up so fast you pass it and have to do a u-turn. But its not that easy, the great city of Hammond in their infinite wisdom decided to make roundabouts off the interstate. A death trap. We almost got rear ended both times we turned in to the hotel. The room was clean, but that's about it. We would've stayed elsewhere but we're too tired to look around.

« I do NOT like this hotel. »

This hotel does not feel clean. The first room they assigned me had fungus or something growing in a cup. The second room they gave me was down stairs ( When I checked in they said they didn't have down stairs available. ) This room just didn't feel clean. I travel a lot for work but I will not stay here again.

    3
    « Average hotel »

The hotel met the need for an overnight stay, it was good for the price. It was right off the interstate and had parking for a rental truck with car trailer. The room was clean and comfortable and there were sufficient eateries around. There is a mall/shopping center across the street.

    « Poor customer service »

Stayed weekend; room was not cleaned due to items left on bed, so with that, trash was not emptied, towels were not replaced, toilet nor shower were cleaned, there wasn't any toilet tissue replaced. Only one person at desk so had to retrieve my own towels and tissue. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!! For the lack of service I was refunded the huge sum of $22.00! Any other hotel would have comped me a night for the inconvenience. Will not use them again ...

    « My January Stay »

My review of my stay at this particular hotel was really good considering it was a last minute booking. Very clean and respectful environment. Clerk was great and answered any and all questions that I was concerned about. Excellent price and very convenient for what I needed to stay for.

« Good value and a comfortable stay »

Not expecting the Taj Mahal (we were using an Interstate coupon, after all), this Best Western delivers with a clean room, all that you need for the night and a decent breakfast the next morning. They've replaced what is often not the cleanest of wall-to-wall carpeting in many motels with laminate flooring along with a little strip of carpet by the side of the bed. Could have used more by the bed. The flooring can be cool to the touch, can be less than cozy, but yes indeed it is cleaner than old carpet. Good check-in and friendly service and staff. And good value.

« Wonderful Stay at Best Western »

The staff is super friendly! They deliver the definition of "Hospitality" all the Staff members were happy to go above and beyond to please us. The hot Southern Breakfast was delicious the "buffet style" was the best and the hostess was very helpful and friendly!! I even had the opportunity to meet the Manager she was Extremely Helpful and Accommodating! I would recommend to anyone who stays in the Hammond Area!

    « Disappointed Stay »

Disappointed with this stay, room was okay but many of the TV stations were out so could not watch to college game we wanted. The ice machine was broken and could not get ice. Staff was very nice and friendly. Lots of construction in area. Had been staying at others but will make sure it is a 'plus' next time I try.

    « It's a ok place.... »

Check in was ok.. Bed was comfortable and room was ok clean. Liked the hardwood floors in room. You don't get the stinking carpet that way. Breakfast was the average ok with a nice attendant working there. Truck parking beside hotel is a plus. Railway behind hotel a negative and next to interstate also. Would stay here again when working in the area even tho it's a busy area.

    « Ms. Charrieng Hunt »

Not Good! This was the worst BW hotel we have stayed in. The smell from animal urine was awful, we observed bugs on the floor(roaches?), the lavatory handle fell off, the toilet valve leaked and ran water all night, and the wifi service was marginal at best. At 3am, we gave it up and left. I must say, the staff tried to improve the situation, but to no avail

    « Clean Rooms/Friendly Staff »

I stayed here on a recent trip and everyone I interacted with was pleasant and willing to assist to ensure my stay was comfortable. I would certainly stay here again. The day manager was sure to ask about my stay and was eager to know if I was satisfied with my stay.

« Good for overnight while on the road. »

Hotel has helpful, friendly staff. Room was comfortable, although there was a minor issue with the sink faucet. All rooms open to the exterior, so not the best for a single woman traveling alone. Bed was comfortable and I got a good night's rest before traveling on. Breakfast was good.

    « Nice stay! »

Very nice place, room was very clean. NO dirty carpet on the floors - this was a nice surprise. Normal breakfast as most Best Westerns. Front desk personal was very friendly. Parking lot well lite at night. Places to eat within walking distance.

Excellent stay at hotel and with breakfast. This hotel has improved tremendously over the last 3 years. We were impressed with our initial entry and the breakfast before leaving. The exterior of the hotel is improved. The rooms are taken care of well and the personalities of the helps were excellent.

    « CLEAN. »

A room is clean and big, a bed is nice, we miss the breakfast because we didn't sleep good...the problem its so much noise, busy area, if you don't care the noise it's nice place to stay. A phone in the room is not working, friendly employees.Worth for price.

    « Very nice place!! »

our stay ended up being a very extended stay and we were treated everyday, as if that was our only day, by the staff....except for one. even after that horrible day the regular staff went back to being their suburb selves. the room we had the whole stay was very comfortable and convenient to the self serve laundry facility, to the workout room, and walking distance to the outdoor mall across the VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. The room was quiet, would've never known the hotel was full had i not looked outside the window. I felt very safe. Out of all the places to stay in the Hammond area, the BEST WESTERN is by far the best place to stay, while still being affordable too!! OH AND THE BREAKFAST IS ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!

If you are starting from any point in West, Central, or South Texas, to somewhere in the South or East, Hammond is a good place to break up the trip and the BW is a great place to stay for a night or two. The Hammond Inn & Suites is quiet and comfortable, with very courteous and helpful staff. Try it, you'll like it.
