« Returning and will return! »

We used to come to Hagerstown about 2 years ago and we stayed here. At the time there's no Diner attached to the hotel yet. At the time we stayed in an "ok" room, not that great. However, this trip was so much because they gave us a better room than the last trip and the Diner helps bringing their reputation up a notch, even though it's different management than the hotel. The hotel's breakfast isn't so good but they serve free breakfast in a private dining room with a TV on. We didn't use the breakfast room because we enjoyed it at the Diner next door. Our room is bigger, facing the front so we could see out car. It's nice and clean and didn't trigger my allergies because they keep it clean. The conference room that we were in is huge and pretty in the pictures. The conference room is located in the next building so people can go in thru 2 different ways: the Diner or outside by walking down towards the parking lot (back building) and the entrance to the conference faces the parking lot. In case you wonder whether you would get a good room, perhaps ask for the room facing the front, maybe it's a better deal? Anna at the Front Desk is very helpful and super polite. We're so glad to be helped by her. Thanks!

    « Worth the detour »

First time in this town. 8 minutes off I-81. Under renovation but still functional. Excellent 24-hr restaurant connected (see Hagerstown Family Diner). Receptionist Ana made our day. Ample free parking. Good location and adjacent to medical centre. Spacious lobby

    « Good Stay »

This Best western hotel was very nice and a great nights stay. Will stay here again next week for a couple nights. The Breakfast was the standard selection of eggs and sausage which was cold and watery, next time will try the waffle.

    « Nice Stay »

I booked this hotel via Groupon and I am very pleased with our stay. We had an easy check in and it was close to many every day items (we needed to make a stop at an auto store and one was directly across the street from the hotel). The breakfast in the morning was great! They didn't just have cold cereal and a waffle maker, they also had eggs, potatoes, sausage, yogurt and several different juices. I was very happy with my stay and would return should I come back to the area.

« Best Western Venitian in Hagerstown a great choice »

I've been staying at this Best Western in Hagerstown for over 7 years and I find there are always more good reasons for my continual patronage: their upgrades make check-in and check-out easy and smooth: a spacious lobby allows you to relax a little and watch some TV or go to the business center to check on emails...their LOCATION is the number 1 reason for booking Travel anywhere to points South /Eastern US make this hotel the logical choice.Easy access to Rts. 81/ 68 and 70 /270S are all minutes away from this Hotel. In addition there are restaurants on site ( 24/7) and an excellent Chinese buffet steps away ( my wife loves this place). Also LOTS of parking !..Stay here and you wont be disappointed!

« BW Grand Venice in Hagerstown, MD »

This hotel in Hagerstown, MD was a pleasant surprise. The property is a hotel (5 stories) not the usual motel. The furnishings were in excellent shape -- both a beautiful lobby and a very lovely room. The room was very large approaching a suite in size. The bed was very very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Suggest folks use the I70 exit to this hotel vs I81 which takes you through the center of the city.

    « vacation trip »

This was a nice hotel. Rates were very reasonable and friendly staff. Close to many places to eat. Room was comfy and nicely laid out. I would recommend staying here if you are in the area. I will be back next year if the time allows.

« Rooms need updating and cleaning but food is good »

This hotel is not in an ideal area -- it is not directly off of I-95, you have to drive through some bad sections of town to get to it and then once you find it you are relieved, until you enter your room to see that the bathroom is not in very good shape - the rooms haven't been updated and appear to be uncared for in the housekeeping department. However, the attached restaurant does have good food,

« Trip to see grandchildren »

Hotel was a nice stop over on our 2 day long trip to MA. The hotel restaurant was great. Homemade soup and deserts were wonderful. They accepted small dogs which was helpful for us traveling with our dog. Yes, I would stay there again on our next trip up north. Hagerstown, MD was about half way between NC and MA. If you stop there, be sure to try restaurant next door.

    « Old and faded. »

Arrived late at night to a warm welcome from the lovely polish girl on reception. However this is an old tired hotel, rooms were big with comfy beds and TV was good, bathroom was poor with nowhere to put anything. Good breakfast however.

« Weird but I would stay here again »

I was checked in by wonderful Ukrainian gentleman who was very considerate of my travelling companion's and got them a room right next to the elevator without asking. Rooms are really big and really clean but dated perfect if you're just passing through. The attached restaurant is open 24 hours a day which is great the prices are amazing very cheap for what you get highly recommend the soup the french fries and the burgers the steaks not so much. Again the staff was first class we had a lovely lady Chiffon? (Sp) Who was working hard to support her two children and could serve anywhere she was that good. Also give the desserts a pass. One thing strange no alcohol served in the restaurant but their is a very nice wine store right next-door.

    « Good stay »

In town for a concert. It is within walking distance of the Maryland Theater. Anna checked us in and was friendly and knowledgeable. When I asked about walking to the theater, she printed a map for me. Every hotel should have someone like her. Our rooms were very large. It had everything we would need for 1 night or a few days. Close to many places to eat. My shower head had no adjustment, the knob just spun, so I couldn't adjust it the way I wanted. I would have no problem staying here again.

« Not really pet friendly! »

While the property is pet friendly, I wouldn't stay there again with my dog. There was no designated walking space, no bags and no garbage can. We had to go down the elevator and walk too far to a scary/dirty area to walk her. You can tell the hotel was once grand. As for the rooms they were fine, typical Best Western. The staff was friendly. If you want a mid quality hotel and you don't have a dog, it works.

    « Great »

We had a great time and we would go back. It put us close to the area that we wanted to be near. We were able to see the things we wanted to there. It also was right on the route home. The breakfast that we had made it so that we were able to make the trip home before we had to eat again.

    « Rooms from the 80's »

The room was awful. Some tile was missing in the bathroom. The room smelled like smoke. The soaking tub seemed dirty. The decor was dated and the only new thing in the room seemed to be the TV. The room was old and it was a king suite which I thought would be nicer but it was a time warp. The hotel just seemed lost in time and upkeep was not a concern.

    « Nice overnight stay »

Ran upon this hotel after getting off the interstate. A little out of the way but it was the first place we came to. Everything was to our liking, nice and clean. The desk person was friendly and helpful. We got a good nights sleep before hitting the road early. Was very surprised at some of the negative comments. Would stay here again if in the area.

« not enough TV stations »

my husband likes to watch TV after a day of traveling to help him relax and this hotel had a very short list of available stations and not even one premium movie choice. the curtains only had white sheers in the center and the lights came through all night while I was trying to sleep.

    « Hotel with a wide view »

The hotel was very close to the main road, just a short turn off it. It was located on a clear, open landscape. The reception staff were friendly enough. Breakfast in the restaurant was nice. The rooms were comfortable. From the rooms on any side of the hotel you could get a good view of the city landscape. Just across the road and opposite the hotel are shopping malls and shops with big parking spaces.

    « Very Nice »

This Motel was very nice everything worked the room was very nice and cool when I arrived the staff is very friendly and helpful with finding places to eat in the area I would definitely recommend this place in the future

    « Grand Venice Hotel »

Nice clean hotel, but needs updating and attention to small items that were damaged or broken. The exhaust fan was noisy, and the knob was missing from the heat lamp in bathroom ceiling. It was nice to have a diner attached, but the hallway from the hotel to the diner was disgusting.

    « Not recommended »

Had a multitude of issues ... broken phone, broken A/C unit which thankfully got fixed. Windows do not open and "air freshener" that had been used in room was so strong it made me nauseous. Carpet was badly torn in my room. Bathroom fan comes on with the light and was way too noisy. Breakfast area was attended to, yet 2 of the 3 hot items remained empty for the 10 minutes I waited for them to be refilled. Coffee was watered down and tasted awful. No shampoo in room. No notepad and pen. This property cuts corners and it shows. On the upside, I did sleep through the night.

    « Convenient Location »

The hotel was convenient to the hospital where our daughter had our first grandchild. It was nice to be able to eat breakfast before we went to visit. The Hagerstown Family Diner is attached to the hotel and had many dinner options that we enjoyed and had a senior menu that was very reasonable.

« Hotel is in Terrible shape »

The Hotel was terrible from the lobby on. The roof was falling apart and there were buckets to catch the water as it fell. All the ceiling tiles were either falling down or water stained. There was a huge water stain right outside our door. the hotel room was not cleaned very well, there was dust and dirt behind every piece of furniture. The shower was full of black mold as well. If it wasn't for the fact that i had booked the room ahead of time and used points we would have walked out the door. I have stayed at many BW and have not had any issues, but this one seemed to have them all.

    « Fantastic Value »

I have stayed here often, and I don't look at other hotels. It is a very nice room for the rate, and always comfortable. The staff always is pleasant and helps with anything I ask. My only complaint could be that the location is a little bit off the beaten path. I stay her twice a week minimum for work, and do not look at other hotels. There are very many places to eat in walking distance, or a short drive if you wish.

« Excellent stay after an 8 hour drive »

The location is kind of sketchy but still it was ok. For the price the hotel is excellent. Rooms are spacious, clean, modern. The hotel offers free parking. The breakfast was excellent - toast, waffles, oatmeal, cereal, omelette. There are a lot of fast food restaurants and shops around and a huge outlet mall not that far from the hotel.

    « Big rooms! »

Stayed one night on a bus trip. Quite a pleasant surprise. The room was large and the bed comfortable. Fully equipped with microwave, coffee machine, fridge etc. Overall hotel was dated but has everything you need for a good nights sleep and heaps of room - even a dinning table!

« The price is reasonable »

This property is somewhat careworn, but the linen and towels are clean. The water is hot, the shower quite adequate. The bed was comfortable and the staff friendly. The neighborhood is about 8 blocks from the historic downtown, but itself is a bit run down. The price with AAA discount was appropriate.

    « Pleasantly surprised »

This hotel was at our 1/2 way point on a long road trip. we needed someplace to stay that was clean, safe and affordable. we were pleasantly surprised at this Best Western - it also had a great pool and hot tub and well as a large patio with lounge chairs - we had a great time!

    « Poor quality!! »

My family and I spent one night in this hotel while on a tour bus trip. Looking from the outside I expected the hotel to be very nice. Boy was I wrong!! Carpet was dirty, towels dingy, walls dirty, poor lighting. One of my rooms smelled of cigarette smoke. I could not wait to leave a review of this filthy place. Very misleading looking from outside in. I would not recommend this hotel. I stayed in rooms 385 and 386.

« A Quiet Stay . Perfect in Every Way »

Anna was absolutely delightful upon check in!! I could not have asked for better customer service late at night she was pleasant smiling and just a delight to have at the front desk upon check-in. She was also there in the morning and I was shocked to see you're still there and she said she did get some sleep but just a lovely lovely individual to just make an entire experience an hour what a pleasant ending at checkout and the beginning. that's great customer service. Rooms are clean and spacious and a comfy room! I was grateful to have a little fridge in the room too. I was here for a quick overnight with friends in town and they also offer a complimentary breakfast on the second floor that had eggs sausage waffles yogurt fresh coffee fresh fruit really just an enjoyable stay.

« Hotel is great, neighborhood is horrible!! »

This hotel is beautiful on the inside. The staff is excellent. Everyone we encountered was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was good. And the breakfast attendants were friendly. Pool was nice however a little cold even on a 90 degree day. The only issues we had were with the neighborhood. Stepping outside to smoke, we were quickly approached by homeless and bums asking for cigarettes and money. When declining their request, they quickly became verbally abusive. When reporting it to the front desk, they suggested smoking at the pool area. All well and good unless you wanted a cigarette before 10am or after 10pm. Such a shame, we would have loved to return to this hotel, but because of the neighborhood and not feeling save outside of the hotel, we probably will not.

    « Sketchy Location »

This large hotel is located in a sketchy area of town. There were men hanging out near the restaurant and another building. Rooms were large and clean with a comfortable bed. Needs to be updated. Lukewarm shower and toilets need multiple flushes. Dog friendly but limited green areas to walk dog. Staff very friendly

« Bad neighborhood, mediocre hotel »

Pros Staff were extremely nice Free breakfast was good Easy drive to main highway (81) Attached dinner is DELICIOUS Cons Kids ties kept getting cut by sandpaper like bottom of the pool Pool was always out of towels Elevator was scary Bad neighborhood- heard frequent sirens

    « Overall Very Satisfied »

A bit more plush that many Best Westerns I have visited. As expected rooms were clean, quiet, no odder. Breakfast was good. Only problem was as noted here. I rented 2 rooms 494 & 473. Both had problems with the bath tub facet control operation. The control was marked cold as clockwise and hot as counter-clockwise, while the true operation was just opposite to that marked. This wasted a lot of water while we waited for the water to heat which it never did until we turned to cold.

    « Nice place »

Overall it was a good stay in Hagerstown. The town was close to where I was and some people I needed to see. We stayed one night and for the most part it was a nice place. The fan did sound like a 747 readying for takeoff but that is an easy fix.

« Perfect for our short stay »

If you're looking for your basics- clean room, comfy bed, quick breakfast. We needed a room for the night and the price was right. Also- I very rarely am let down by the Best Western brand. Front desk clerk was friendly and efficient, breakfast was decent. Plenty of choices for food in the area.

    « Great Hotel »

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool was refreshing and clean. The hotel and lobby are very inviting; clean and decorative. The rooms were very clean and the bed was very comfortable. The hotel is in a great location. We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel.

    « Quick stopnin »

For a quick night stay to get in the road it wasn't bad. The rooms need to be updated along with a few other things. Like I said not bad if you need s place to stay but no more then that. The breakfast was to be normal hotel breakfast nothing to special

    « Not for families »

We stopped here overnight on our way to Virginia beach. It was halfway and had decent ratings so it seemed like a great idea. This hotel is right near downtown which is great if you're into that. We checked in and immediately went to our room. The whole hotel reeked of smoke and though we were in a "non smoking room" on the "non smoking floor" the scent carried everywhere. The hotel is also attached to a diner and a liquor store which it was apparent did not attract the best crowd. We immediately made our complaint and checked out of the hotel not even an hour later. The front desk gentleman was more than accommodating and provided great service. I should have done more research to determine if where we were staying was a smoke free hotel, not just a smoke free room to stay in. Nonetheless, it is not great for families wishing to be in a smoke free environment.

« Large rooms, outdated style, pleasant service »

We stayed one night at this hotel as a stop on our trip home from Baltimore. The room was large and beds comfortable. The free breakfast was more than just cereal and pastries but the hot foods were not great. The staff was courteous. The entire hotel definitely needs redecorating as it has decor style over 30+ years old. The bathrooms appear to have gotten some attention to update with newer counter tops, but the tile caulking, lighting and painted over wallpaper are a downer (messy job, yellowed lighting). My perception of the cleanliness of the room was affected by the empty disposable food container found behind the bedside table. I guess the more hidden spaces get missed in typical cleaning but it was unsettling. I marked it up to "still better than camping!" There are very few outlets for utilizing charging devices. Overall, I would look for a different location if needed to stay in this area again but if there wasn't a better one and I had to stay in the area, I could again.

    « Never again »

We stayed in this hotel 4 nights. Although this was the closest hotel to downtown, I wish we had never set foot in this place. Clogged toilet, unsafe exercise machines, nasty breakfast and bed bugs. My wife is still recovering from the insect bites weeks later. The one out of 5 is because the front desk staff and maintenance man were friendly.

    « Great Value »

WE go to the Antietam Cup Soccer tournament every year. This is the closest hotel. THe service is very good. The rates are usually excellent. Tremendous value for the location. Can be a little noisy at night outside with traffic but turning on hte A/C takes care of that. Hotel staff are quite friendly and helpful. Full breakfast isn't too bad - eggs could be better but overall a great value.

    « Compensated by discount »

We checked in the hotel on 5th June and had booked a room with a kitchen for 6 days. On the first day we were told the kitchen room had no electricity and we would be given one the next day. We should have been informed in advance so that we could have prepared something for the night. The next day our shift to the room with a kitchen was postponed twice and we were finally given a room by 6 PM. The kitchen looked recently refurbished. Pretty much everything was new. There were no glasses and bowls and plates though. Thankfully we had kept a few in stock. The refrigerator was very small and the gas did not work for the first day. It was repaired the next day. The rest of our stay was pretty pleasant. The room was big and nice. TV worked good. WiFi speed was slow but workable. The swimming pool and jacuzzi were a nice add on. The breakfast is the same bland and uninteresting spread and best avoidable. Except the harassment of the first 2 days, our stay was pretty decent i would say. We were given discount by the manager as a compensation for our troubles. I though understand it's not easy to run a hotel - especially a "grand" one like this. Staff is well-mannered and cooperative.

« This Best Western is close to everything ! »

Staying at this Hotel, I'm amazed at all the new advantages the location has : close to I-81 and 70 and 270S. It has dozens of great food venues in town as well as a 24hr. diner at the same place! It also has a great ballroom for special events such as wedding receptions and Holiday celebrations.5 minutes away from the annual 'Blues Festival' held in Hagerstown each June!

« Dirty and in disrepair »

We are gold members and were put in a suite that was dirty and in disrepair. This was the worst best western we have every stayed in. Totally outdated. The bathroom was disgusting. The tiles were not clean, the bathtub dirty, toilet bowl cracked, the plaster on the wall cracked.

« Stay at Hagerstown Best Western »

One of the best short day trip experiences that I have had in a while Victor was extremely helpful at check-in to the hotel and the overall feel of the night spent in this location was better than any that I have had in a hotel in a long time... Did not use many of the services, but those used are enough to make me want to stay at this location whenever I return to the Hagerstown area.

    « NEVER AGAIN????! »

Not to belabor the concept of clean and healthy, the stay here was not conducive to our ever returning. We were comped for our evening's stay, however. Once I presented pics of mold, strange object(looked like a spit-wad) on the ceiling above the bed, a shower curtain that barely covered the tub, no anti-slip mat in the tub, and major dis-repair of the bathroom, even the complimented room wasn't enough to ever consider returning. Even the hallway carpeting needed vacuuming and cleaning. My wife is asthmatic. Upon awakening, her breathing was labored and she was very congested: all signs of allergens in the air. The staff was pleasant but that's about the only compliment I can provide at this time. STAY AWAY!!!!

    « Nice place »

We called the hotel from on line did not have reservation, but booked with no problem , the breakfast was great, clean and hot coffee that was perfect , i enjoyed the cinnamon waffles, the bagel and egg was my guys choice all good and fresh.,room clean and perfect.

    « A pleasant place to stay. »

Located downtown, adjacent to a small shopping center with a grocery store and restaurants, this is a convenient place for an extended stay. The hotel, intended for conventions and weddings, is quiet and clean. The beds were comfortable and the staff friendly. The hotel connects by walkway to a 24-hour family restaurant which the locals were using. However, the physical plant was aging and dingy with colors from previous redecorations. Currently, the most prevalent color scheme was browns and tans. There were just enough room amenities. Overall, this was a good place to stay. Desk clerk Roman was very personable and was a great first contact here.

« Quality Hotel with a fantastic location »

The Hagerstown Best Western & Conference Center is one great location for anyone traveling north-south along the East Coast. Only a mile off either Rt. 70 E or a mile off I-81 it is a great location . The property has been recently renovateand the rooms are spacious..I found the recent upgrade to Disc TV network very useful. There is a conference banquet room on the property if an event is being planned. More and more for your stay..I just discovered the best Chinese buffet is right across the street . Great Food !

    « Great »

We stayed for the night here at the Best Western Hagerstown, on our way to Washington D.C. The staff was nice, the room was nice and clean. There was a restaurant within the hotel, which had good food and service as well! SO that was a BIG PLUS! They had a great breakfast. We would certainly stay here again./

« This hotel is awful »

The hotel is old and badly needs renovation. The room was about as far away from the lobby as you could get.It was a Sunday night and I'm sure there were closer rooms available for an 83 year old. The room had a weird smell. Loud noises at two in the morning. Went for ice and used the stair, wrong move , you cannot re-enter any floor, you must go outside. Dumb policy. The lobby elevator button was broken, it was fixed temporarily, sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. When you can't use the stairs, that's really dumb!! Light switches in the room didn't operate anything, part of the needs renovation. The lobby looked nice but the carpet was filthy. I'm sure it had not been cleaned since the hotel was opened. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel and I won't ever stay there again.

    « GREAT »

A lot more better than we had expected, and the convenience of the restaurant within the hotel was a Big Plus, not having to go outside , and the Staff and food was excellent . We had dinner and breakfast at the Restaurant

« When you want the very best stay at the Best Western Grand Venice, Hagerstown, MD »

This BW is one of my favorites. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. Upon arrival there is some kind of a snack with coffee or tea. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. There are many choices for breakfast from cold items to hot including the great waffle maker. And the woman who takes care of the room is soooooooo nice and will help you with anything you need. Choose this hotel when you will be in the Hagerstown, MD area.

    « Turner Classics movies!! »

Most hotels have HBO, which means most of the time nothing is on there that I like. With Turner Classics, I was able to see a movie I had not seen for years, "Toostie!" I liked viewing it once again!! The shower was nice with hot, hot water, the breakfast of eggs and sasuages were good. I did like the table in the room, however, the chairs were not all that steady.

« Best Western in Hagerstown a hidden treasure »

This Hotel has an improved facelift and is an even better value than before. The lobby features granite floors and accents. An elegant touch which feels great! Rooms are clean and this location is the most optimum location when one travels north to south on the East Coast ! Convenient to all major cities!

    « Love the hotel »

Every year we travel to hagerstown to wrestle in a tournament and we stay at the Grand Venice hotel have down it for years. The rooms are always clean, and the service is always top notch and the rates can't be beat. I have stayed many times at this hotel and would recommend it to any body. We will stay there every year that we wrestle in Hagerstown.

    « Pleasure »

Extremely courteous staff, breakfast was very good and the hotel was clean. It was very convenient for what we were there for to restaurants. We would suggest this hotel to friends and family. Enjoyed the stay, even though it was short

« Good value due to low price »

Room was comfortable and quiet but was showing some signs of wear. Baseboard was peeling and footstool for chair was stained. Reasonable location not far from highway and with some restaurants in area.

    « Always a Great Stay Here »

I take cruises out of Baltimore often and I always stay at this hotel on my travel from Ohio to Baltimore. Its a good miles stop and the hotel is always a nice place to stay. I like the kindness of the employees. Things all work in the hotel and its always quiet. Rooms are well attended and clean. I like the fact the parking lot is well light and safe. They added this year in the lobby a sorta coffee bar all complimentary. Nice touch and great to sit and just enjoy the surroundings.

« Rumpled, old and not so clean »

This hotel was once lovely from the look of it. It still has a friendly staff though the desk clerk was all alone the night we booked in. The TV didn't work and no one could fix it. The room was only clean in the middle and the roof was leaking in the corridor between the hotel and the attached diner.

« Me and my wife came from Clovis New Mexico for the Christmas holidays »

Me and my wife came here to Hagerstown from New Mexico for the holidays at first it seemed like a very nice motel we was in room 379, as me and my wife was intimate I know this little bugs crawling on the bed I alert the front desk, and they had comp my room for one day and moved us to a different room and the room was acceptable they moved us to room 380, and we was comfortable, and now I'm having problems with housekeeping slamming doors banging noises in room beside my room everytime when housekeeping comes to clean I have a Do Not Disturb sign on my door but the rooms next to my room they are very very very noisy and they do not care about the guest that's trying to sleep I am sick I have lung cancer I need my rest if I do not get my rest I could end up in to the hospital due to my lung cancer my sleep is very important I've asked the hotel plenty of time and I uploaded them plenty of time about the noises that the housekeepers are making its ridiculous but nothing seems to be done about it I have spent over $800 to stay here for two weeks the staff here is lousy but the front desk staff is very nice and they try to do what they can I like the staff at the front desk I have not had any problems with the staff at the front desk but the housekeeping staff it sounds like war war 3 is going off I cannot sleep I cannot rest when they're cleaning rooms if you stay here be prepared for the housekeeping staff because when they're cleaning the rooms there is no peace in the house cleaning staff is not professional I had to write this review I was not going to write this review but I had to because I'm sick and tired of it

« Gem of a Hotel in Hagerstown »

Discovered this gem of a hotel while staying overnight in Hagerstown, MD. The King Suite with the whirlpool was spacious and comfortable and the whirlpool was perfect for relaxing after a day and evening of dancing.

« Very Clean, Comfortable, Cheap Hotel »

We stayed here on a Friday Night in early December 2015. Just by chance I found it on as a Special price for $64.00 for 3 Adults in a Non-Smoking room with 2 Queen Beds. Arrived around 7:00 PM to find a Beautiful Entrance that was easy to locate with close parking. Check in was very friendly and fast. I had prepaid with Pay Pal so all they needed was a card for incidentals. The room on the 4th floor was spotless and we are picky people. There was never any smell of Smoke anywhere in the building that we were in. The Bathroom was also excellent with plenty of hot water and no mold anywhere. Tub and toilet were very clean. The room itself was also clean. There were no stains on the carpet anywhere. A lot of young guest arrived around ten o'clock on our floor and were very quiet. Breakfast was on the 2nd floor and that room was clean with a very polite attendant she was quick to help with anything We asked for. The Breakfast bar included Hot sausage, scrambled eggs, potatoes, fresh made waffles. Also the were rolls, cereal, and plenty of juices to choose from. Buy the time we would have paid for breakfast somewhere for at least $15 bucks this was a very good deal. I would recommend this to my friends and family and I will stay here again.

    « Cigarette smell everywhere »

This property is lacking in many areas. Check-in was ok but when I got to the floor it had a very strong cigarette odor and it was to be a non-smoking floor. When I mentioned this to the front desk I was advised this was the only room available (I got there at 3:30 PM so plenty of time to have other rooms ready) and it was a take it or leave it situation. Since the room was paid for in advance I had no choice but to stay. The bathroom had not been cleaned as there was a used soap bar on the bathtub. I was completely disgusted and when I called down to report the condition of the room, once again was advised there were no other rooms available. Not even an offer to come and clean it. The breakfast was awful. My checkout experience was also bad as the maid came to collect towels at 10:00 (I had just come out of the shower) and then when I went to return my keys, I had to wait 10 minutes after ringing the call bell as the attendant was on a personal call. Do yourself a favor, there are many other hotels available, stay in one of them.

« Great Value for the Money »

I was greeted by a very helpful and polite front deskman. The room, was large, clean, and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was better than average for a comparably priced hotel. Excellent value for the money!

    « Terrible hotel »

When we got to our room and opened the door, it smelled like cigarette smoke. My husband thought maybe it was the cleaning products. I am very allergic to cigarettes and woke up halfway through the night completely congested and coughing, nose burning. I guess somebody had smoked in the "non-smoking" room. The room was not clean. Along the baseboards it looked like it had not been swept for a very long time. The appliances were dirty, full of sticky fingerprints. I did not touch anything without using a door knobs, light fixtures, TV remote. The bathroom had this pink scum on the tile and the bathroom fan sounded like a jet engine. The entire hotel is in need of a total remodel. The place is beat and dirty. I have no comment about the breakfast. There was no way I would have eaten breakfast if they clean the kitchen the same as the rooms. Stay away from this hotel.

    « Great stay »

Was in Hagerstown for a funeral. With all hotel chains within a 2 mile radius, chosen a hotel was a challenge. Since it was not a vacation,a budget hotel would be fine. We chose the Best Western. Great choice. Very clean, great attentive staff, free breakfast, everything we wanted. This hotel was beyond our expectations. I honestly can't think of 1 negative. Will we stay there again?? You bet!!

    « Just Okay »

We recently stayed in a king whirlpool room for two nights. The room was clean. It was large but an odd layout, the furniture was just okay. The bathroom was large with black tile, not very attractive to me. The tub was very deep but not comfortable for reclining only sitting. The dual sinks didn't drain well but the shower was okay. The three towels were okay, two bars of soap and two tiny bottles of conditioner, very skimpy.( I don't like the dispensers for soap and shampoo in the shower.) The exhaust in the bathroom was very loud and worked with the light so it had to run. The king bed needs a better mattress. No paper or pen or any hotel literature. We traveled to nearby parks for hiking and were able to find good meals in the area. Overall just okay room, okay for the money, priced fairly.

    « Great value »

I have stayed at Best Western Grand Venice Hotel and Conference Center several times in the last few years and have always had enjoyable experiences. The rooms are large enough, the beds are comfortable and it's a very good value for the money.

    « Ready for an Update/Refresh »

As others have mentioned, this hotel is in need of a significant update/sprucing up. With some minimal updating the hotel could be very nice. We received an upgrade to a whirlpool suite which was much appreciated. The tub filled very slowly and the switch to turn on the jets was in an awkward place (near the vanity). I accidentally hit the switch thinking it was the vent fan switch. The whirlpool switch needs to be labeled as such to prevent damage to the motor. There was a separate walk in shower in addition to the large whirlpool tub. The lamp shades in our room were cracking due to becoming brittle as a result of age and heat damage and need to be replaced. The carpet in our room had damage from a previous guest that needs patched as it was a huge gouge - I hate that people wreck rooms they stay in! The suite had a sofa and easy chair, a good size refrigerator and newer microwave. Our bed was very comfortable and the sheets cozy. Everything was clean - just in need of update. The elevator door shut quickly and violently and I got banged in the shoulder pretty good trying to board the elevator one time. Hotel staff should have someone look into adjusting the speed and force with which the doors close. We liked that there is a diner connected to the restaurant as it made finding a place for dinner easy. The diner had good pricing and everything you would expect to find. This is a 24 hour diner so you can easily deal with middle of the night hunger pangs! Breakfast is served in an area created by opening up two guest rooms on the second floor of the hotel. The space was decent enough with room for all the guests when I was there. The attendant was very helpful and pleasant. The items on offer were basic continental except that they did offer Hot Pockets for microwaving and a waffle maker. They had enough items to certainly get you going. The diner has great breakfast prices so that is an option for guests looking for something more substantial. All in all I felt I received good value for the money: I got a clean room, with a comfortable bed, in need of a cosmetic refresh.

    « Good value »

It's an older hotel with reasonable prices. Room was clean. Could use some updates in the room, but it's as expected considering the age and I have no complaints. Front desk worker, Michele, was fantastic. She was enthusiastic and really helps the hotel make a great first impression to customers. Overall, good location and good value. I will stay here again.

    « Not What I Expected »

I stayed here for two nights and was slightly disappointed. There was not a working ice machine in the entire hotel for the duration of our stay. When we told a member of the staff they said that they knew and had been working on it for several days. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. It was within walking distance to several fast food restaurants and there was a diner connected to the hotel but we didn't try it. It just didn't seem like the Best Westerns I am use to staying in.

    « As Expected »

I stayed with friends at this hotel one night after driving about 10 hours heading to Philadelphia. Everything was as expected. Room was clean, bed sheets were clean but pillows were over used and low quality. But no complaint after all. BF standard American but was too simple for the hotel rate.

« Hagerstown Best Western provides excellent service »

The Hagerstown Best Western is being noticed as the prime location for a Washington/ Baltimore visit and is gaining popularity by leaps and bounds ! As a regular patron I've always known this to be true but during this last year I've noticed a large increase in the amount of foreign travelers as well as out of state high school sports teams who choose to stay here.Since it has a prime location along the major roads and highways ( Rt.s 83,70 and 68 ) it's VERY convenient and everyone seems to notice that ! A 24 hr. restaurant on site is an added plus !...This is the absolute best Hotel in the area.

    « Trying »

This is an older property that is trying to be Grand. It has had some updates but needs many more. Room was clean and everything worked as it should. Beds so so. Is it worth the price? Yes. Just don't expect too much.

    « Lobby was nice.. »

Room was OK.. Bathroom was a little gross saw pink mold on the floor and the walls around the shower were falling apart. Not sure why any hotel would assume that 3 towels would be sufficient for anyone. Purposely reserved a room with two beds and marked 4 adults staying, can't you provide 4 towels? Don't think we'll stop there on the way back!

« Good price but not up to date »

The room was huge but was not well maintained. Lampshades were falling apart, the bathroom light flickered and the fan sounded like it was on its last legs. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was about the worst though, the only coffee available either day was decaf, there was no selection to speak of other than cereal and the tables were all messy. I was very happy the place was pet friendly, but not the quality I'm used to from Best Western properties.

« Below Average (Not Best) Western »

It is sadly rundown. Only a 100% renovation of the entire property would improve this disaster. Windows don't close. Traps on sinks won't open or close. Exercise equipment is so broken that it is dangerous to use. Breakfast was bare minimum...only hot item was waffles. Disappointing misrepresentation as a Best Western..should be Below Average Western.

    « Don't hesitate! »

We stayed at this hotel on a recent trip to visit Antietam, Harper's Ferry, and Gettysburg before continuing on to Baltimore and Delaware... We arrived exhausted and starving late friday night after being stuck in an accident on I-81, and were immediately impressed by the clean and somewhat fancy lobby. The receptionist was super friendly and energetic... inquiring about our drive, where we came from, what brought us to Hagerstown, etc... also cutting up and joking with us. I immediately got the sense of being welcomed and that we had made a great choice. Our room was clean and fresh smelling and had a few hints of "luxury"... newer flat screen tv, mini fridge, microwave, etc... Most "value" hotels skimp on those things... The hotel was situated right next to an all-night diner (built in a disused portion of the hotel complex), so you have a 24 hour restaurant within a few dozen steps of the lobby with your choice of breakfast foods, steak, seafood, pasta, and American (burgers, hot dogs, etc). Bed was comfortable and there were plenty of channels to choose from. My only "complaint" (if you could call it that) was that the breakfast area is actually a large room on the second floor (right outside our room)... There was no real disturbance noise-wise, just constant elevator and foot traffic. The next morning after breakfast we spent the day driving to Antietam battlefield and Harper's Ferry (a very short drive away) and we arrived back at the hotel to a cleaned room and fresh linens... The hostess at the desk always welcomed us and bid us a good day coming or going and asked us if we needed anything... Gettysburg was roughly an hour to and from our hotel and was the next days destination. If you plan on visiting a few great historical battlefields, or want a more "out in the country" place to stay when visiting baltimore, I would definitely recommend staying here. We will definitely return on our next Gettysburg trip next year
