    « Great little place. »

Lovely place to stay, very close to the station and also the Kings Theatre. You get the best of both worlds because the hotel is a located a little bit away from the main part of the area where it doesn't get loud. But if you take a 3 minute walk then you are surrounded by a tonne of restaurants. You can also take a 5 minute train ride that takes you straight to Queen Street station. The room itself was very spacious and clean. Old building but had been maintained well and kept to modern standards. The bed was really comfy and the fresh sheets were a dream. The staff were really friendly and helpful. I was always greeted by housekeeping as I walked down the corridors and the people on reception were always friendly. There were however a few set backs, not so much to make my stay unpleasant but it may make someone else's stay unpleasant. The first is that the hotel is quite creaky as it is an old building and you do hear people walking down the corridors or in the room above you. This however didn't bother me because I am not a light sleeper. Another is that the room did get a little bit hot at night. I did wake up sweating a couple of times but I just pushed some of the blanket off me and I was fine after that. Lastly the window in the room faced only a wall outside, this again didn't bother me but might bother someone who likes to have a window that sees out into the street. Overall a magnificent stay. Will defiantly be coming back when I'm in Glasgow again.

    « Good Location »

There was no lift for the higher floors, however if you're perfectly able to go up the stairs there aren't that many to go up. Our room was very spacious and clean, you are provided with tea, coffee, hot chocolate, milk and biscuits, there was also a fridge that we could store our drinks in during our stay. As well as this if the radiators were too hot you can just turn the knob to your preferred heat. The staff were friendly and helpful, providing us with a little diagram on our map to get to certain places.

    4
« Affordable and good facilities »

No lift to above levels which can be difficult lugging your suitcase up a flight of stairs. Room is a little on the small side and views from my room weren't great. However overall I enjoyed my stay. The staff were friendly especially housekeeping. Would recommend if you are looking for something affordable and with good facilities.

    « Good hotel »

Stayed here for two nights room only.prompt check in with friendly staff we got room 301 which was large wth big bathroom great shower and large comfy bed great reception with the wi fi. room facing onto the road at front not bothered with traffic noise but were bothered with shouting outside about 3.30 am not hotels fault . Good location with plenty bars and food outlets near by good walk down sauchiehill street into town centre have stayed in more expensive hotels that were not so good would stay here again.

    « Excellent help »

they were excellent without having to ask they changed our room to a downstairs one.and also stored our luggage for 3days until we returned from a tour we were greeted with a smile and shown around great place

    « So Central »

First time I've stayed at a Best Western. The room was cosy but still quite large and a big bathroom (just a shower) not sure if the "bathroom" was a little mouldy but never mind. It was so central to where I needed to be and I really liked its old school features. I will aim to stay here again if I visit Glasgow again.

    « Clean quite & cozy »

Great location in central Glasgow in the theatre district lots of great places to eat and shop! No elevator price is right nothing fancy but very descent. Definitely stay there again staff are friendly. The Variety bar a few minutes walk is a wonderful place to meet up and have a wee pint

« Best Hotel in Galsgow »

Great hotel, great location. In my opinion and I gave stayed at a few in Glasgow, this hotel is the best you will get in the price bracket it markets itself in. All staff are very polite and so helpful. The rooms are large, probably the largest I have been in. Move to the bathroom, which has a wonderful shower with a rainfall head, and proper tiles on the wall!! Yes sad, but this should help show the quality of this place. More over, the hotel is well presented with modern and immaculate decoration. I will stay in this hotel for all of my future trips to Glasgow.

    « Theatre Break »

Stayed at this hotel a couple of weeks ago when i went to the Kings theatre, this hotel is great location for the theatre, cant get much better than this to be honest. Check in was smooth and effortless, we were in a room right down the bottom in an executive double. Brillaint size for me and my mum, tv on the wall which worked great, the bathroom was lovely, you had a normal shower and then a big powerfull rain shower, the room was really clean also, great big mirrors and a desk with a seat. The room was also lovely and warm which i love as it was kinda down in the basement. I will 100% stay in this hotel again as it was also handy for shopping and the train.

    « Lovely hotel »

Can't complain at all this is a lovely place to stay in Glasgow. Great location for shows and shopping fab value for money and the best nights sleep away from home I have had. Would highly recommend this hotel.

« Hotel close to Kings Theatre »

Theatre break in Glasgow. if you are going to the Kings Theatre, this is the place to stay. Excellently located for theatre and restaurants, plenty of choice of restaurants within walking distance. The hotel is great value for money, very nice room, comfortable bed and good breakfast.

    5
« Very nice and cozy hotel »

Good relation between price and quality. Hospitable and kind stuff. Small but very comfortable rooms. Fresh and tasty breakfast. Very nice and cozy hotel. Very good location - it's near to the city center, railway station and SSEC

    3
    « Great location »

The hotel is a great location for the centre of Glasgow, are double room was on the ground floor and was a very large room and first impression was very good. The room wasn't exactly warm ,when I plugged the hairdryer in to a wall socket it fell of the wall .the bathroom left a lot to be desired the toilet was badly stained not very pretty. Staff are friendly ,bed was comfortable ,plenty of choice for breakfast. Would I stay again no I don't think I would i, its not worth the money .

« Updated Best Western proves to be a quiet bargain »

This is my second time here and since my last stay a couple of years ago based on the double room we stayed in have had a reasonable make over. Thus is a pretty good budget choice - the rooms aren't huge but have all you need and based on the 2 we saw well decorated ( when we arrived we were out in 002 right next to breakfast room but helpful staff moved us). Compact but big enough, clean bathroom with shower over bath. Bed was comfy and this hotel is on a quiet street so little noise at night bar the inevitable slight hum you always get in hotels. Good location with on street meter parking outside and 24Hr car park just round corner (ask staff in advance the on street parking is free at times and you can get a discount for the 24hr one via them). Buffet breakfast was fine and probably better than the cost would suggest. Not bad at all for the money for central Glasgow

    3
« Solid, basic and good for business. »

I stayed here for a few nights whilst on business. It is perfectly reasonable and fairly affordable. However, it has a serious lack of amenities (plenty close by) and the TV barely worked due to poor signal. I would stay here again on business but would look for a better quality if using my own money.

    3
    « Best Western - I expected better ! »

This is a cheap and cheerful "very basic" hotel. I stayed for a night at Best Western Glasgow city for business trip and whilst the location is fantastic, the hotel itself is more like a small B&B minus the personal touch. On the up side, the rooms are clean and the in room internet works well

    4
    « look carefully »

the staff and the accommodations are nice. order delicious dinner in room that is made on site. beauttiful rrestoration of original decor including tall doors and high ceilings. parking is on the street or in a car park one to three blocks away along sidewalks. careful when trying to find the location, use the address because best western put a small flag above the door that says "bw" on it.

    3
    « Minimum standard »

Overpriced for what it offers. In fairness - reasonably comfortable and ticks basic boxes, but shabby and run-down in parts. If you need WiFi forget it as the signal is useless, but there is a good free pc in the lounge. Double beds are made up from two singles joined together, so be warned if you're a couple. Breakfast buffet offers a limited range of items.

    3
« Find somewhere else to stay »

Situated just off the less salubrious end of Sauchiehall Street, this place needs a re-vamp. The décor is pretty tired and, while the room had all the usual amenities, we did not really need the gouges in the wall or the large damp patch and stain on the ceiling. As we were only there for the one night, we decided we could put up with it, but I was tempted to go look for somewhere else. A view reinforced in the morning when the smell coming up from the basement kitchen did not encourage us to have breakfast there. There are plenty of other places to go in the city, fortunately. On the plus side, the hotel is relatively easy to access by car, being only a couple of minutes off the M8, and there is a multi-story car-park just round the corner which is open 24 hours. Not the best experience I have ever had in a hotel. I doubt that I would stay there again.

We booked in at very short notice- called on the day on a Saturday. Very comfortable, welcoming and good value for money. No noticeable noise and extremely conveniently located. Great- we'd definitely stay again!

« BEST BEST WESTERN IN GLASGOW CITY »

Stay at this centrally located Hotel was Excellent but had a little drawback on booking. Appears to have been mix up regarding Breakfast booking but The Staff and Duty Manager resolved this as quickly as possible and were apologetic for the mix up. Still place this as an all round Excellent Hotel with Friendly and attentive staff.

« Go elsewhere unless there is nothing else available »

I have used this hotel before on business with no problems. This visit was not good at all. With the need to stay in Glasgow often I have used many of the central hotels and would say look around as there are plenty of better places at a more reasonable cost. Where do I start? A room with a view (214) no definitely not see pic.... At 5pm couldn't get hot water in shower to work at all. Spoke to a nice lady in reception. She explained to me that some customers do not understand how to use shower. She came to room to do demonstration- she couldn't get the hot water to work either. Said it was boiler..would investigate and should be on later. 7pm tried shower which worked. Great all sorted I thought. 11.30pm came back to hotel after meeting clients. Just wanted a quick shower as early meeting the next day. Ran water for 10 mins. Again no hot water..rang reception, explained that same problem as earlier. He insisted problem in room and not his fault. I explained earlier situation. He said only way to sort it was to come and check the room. By then I explained it was late, nothing could be done in room and i needed an early start and just wanted to access basic facilities like hot water. He insisted that only way to sort (as he was not an engineer and so not his fault) was to visit my room. It was late. I was undressed and did not want the hassle. Ended up taking cold shower. Then kept awake by noisy neighbours banging on doors and talking loudly in corridor until 2am. Would definitely not use this hotel again. It's a shame because my last experience was good. Not sure if it's changed management as breakfast was awful too!

« Comfortable hotel, good location »

As its name suggests, this hotel is very well located for Glasgow city centre. It is in a converted town house with some great original features like the stained glass windows on the staircase. Reception staff were all friendly, efficient and helpful with information and booking taxis etc. The carpet on the staircase is a bit worn but my room, and the public lounge area, were well decorated and furnished and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet offered a good selection without being spectacular and the tables in the breakfast room are a bit institutional but serve their function. Staff in the dining area were all very pleasant and helpful. Would stay again if I needed a room in the centre of Glasgow.

    3
    « short break »

We booked a small double room which was too small, my husband has mobility problems and getting around the bad proved difficult. We were allocated a better room by a very nice receptionist. Enjoyable stay, the rooms are clean and comfortable, very close to restaurants and shopping areas.

    « FANTASTIC. »

My 2nd visit to this hotel. On arrival.... 1pm.... my room was ready for me,( happy man so far......). I go up to my room, and my card won't work... after 4 attempts, ( happy man in waining...) im just about to walk away.. when someone answers the door. So I return to reception, and explain my situation, a very polite Man on reception, gave me an upgrade for my inconvenience..... (Happy man restored) Beautiful Room Beautiful Hotel Beautiful City.

    3
    « Excellent room size »

Stayed overnight, the room was a good size and in fact I was quite pleased with it. We were on the basement floor past the kitchen. As it was quite chilly we had asked for the heating be to turned on, it took too long to heat up which was a downfall. Due to the location of the room I feel it would have been better if the hotel had these rooms at a suitable temperature. Member of staff who checked us in made an error with our booking, this put a dampener on the stay as it was unnecessary hassle which could have been avoided, It resulted in us being double charged for the stay. I had called the hotel the next day and the female member of staff who I dealt with was extremely apologetic and had the problem solved within minutes. I would stay again however in a different (and warmer) room

    3
    « Pleasant stay »

Pleasant hotel in an older building, just on the edge of town but walkable, or near bus routes. Good spread for breakfast, although not extensive. Could do with a bit more finesse in rooms esp for Delux standard. Nice walk in shower in bathroom.

    4
    « Very clean »

Had a lovely stay here, great location, lovely staff and very clean rooms. I stayed in room 002 which was a great size and was lovely although it was next to the breakfast bar and it was noisy from early on with people coming and going. Apart from that it was a great stay!

    3
    « Average Hotel »

We stayed at Best Western for one night to break up the drive. Hotel was conveniently located. There is no parking on site, however there is street parking available just outside the hotel. Because we arrived late we were able to park for free.

    5
    « Great stay »

Stayed overnight. Check in at 4 PM, but they were able to hold our luggage so we could wander around town a bit before check in time. Room was clean. We had a handicap accessible room, it was located down a flight of steps without elevator access. If you have special mobility needs, best to call ahead and ask about rooms that don't require stairs. They had 2 breakfast options, continental and hot. Both were a good value, I had the hot for 9 pounds and it was tasty and plentiful. The hotel was in an excellent location, walking distance from Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen street stations which will connect you with the whole of Scotland. Also multiple bus stops and local train stations nearby. It was a 20 pound taxi ride from the airport (with tip). This was a great stepping off point to see Glasgow. Lots of restaurants, pubs and stores nearby.

    « Hotel Value »

Location right in centre of Glasgow ideal for Business trip Room was clean and Bed extremely comfortable Staff pleasant and efficient and Value for money excellent Would definietley use this hotel again on return to this city

    4
    « Peaceful overnight stay »

A clean and comfortable stay with few frills but quality accommodation backed by a known brand. Excellently placed for access to the railway network (little-known Glasgow Charing Cross station is but a few minutes walk away) and also just a couple of minutes walk to events at the King's Theatre. Deserves to have a higher profile.

    2
« Smelly room in the basement »

I had a room in the basement with a certain undefined smell. To get there I had to pass the hotel kitchen were just the breakfast is prepared. All sorts of food fragrances were combined with cleaning liquids such as chlorine.. Perhaps they have better rooms, I certainly did not like mine.

« Nightmare!! Keep your money go else were »

***ALL GUESTS Must Read*** Due to the poor management of this establishment l have reported the Operations Manger of this branch to there head office. Rude is an understatement l was scaled by the hot water form the tap, lm was not making any kind of claim or anything like nor at any point did l say l was. I was told l was a lier , it didn't happen and laughed out the place. She was ridiculous in the manor in which l was treated and my partner. Perhaps it was because l am gay and shared a room with a woman. Perhaps she didn't like that ? Well the look on her face said it all,but she took my money tho! I only wanted to point out the water is very very hot and perhaps a caution sigh should be used in the room. But to be met with the rude and quite frankly vile woman l am looking forward to what your head office has to say! PS the girl on reception was lovely and as l left l pointed this out to the OPs manager how lovely the girl had been to us and offer us a complimentary late check out. To which the OPs manager laughed it off ... Rude yet again this is not the last of this l will ensure this is shared world wide! Ridiculous lm still in disbelief this has happened !!!

« Best hotel in Glasgow »

You can't beat the quality of this hotel for the price. They accommodated us on short notice. Great customer service. Everyone is helpful and friendly. Room is large, modern, very clean high ceilings with crown molding, and artwork. Good prices on food and drinks too. Excellent!

    3
« Located only blocks from lots of restaurants. »

Service was good. Room was clean. We stayed in room 106. It was Close to front door but left hand wall backed up to hallway and we heard people coming and going suitcases banging wall all morning and evening and floor boards creaking. Bed was comfortable, room was big, bathroom was small.

    4
« Nice city centre hotel close to West end »

I have stayed here 4 times. The location is very handy for theaters and restaurants and the shops of Sauchiehall street are within 10-15 minute walk. The rooms have always been a large size with nice comfortable bed and large TV. Breakfast is a nice simple affair with a good choice of cooked and continental. I think the only slight negative is given the large rooms the bathrooms always feel a bit small.

    4
    « Short stay »

Our room was very spacious as we were on the basement floor. Very clean and had all the amenities you required. Plenty of drawers and a wardrobe with and iron and ironing board in it!. A bit noisy at times as we were below the breakfast room as a result heard all the comings and goings!. My daughter found the pillows to hard for her and the duvets a little on the heavy side. Perfect location for the theatre and not to far from the city centre. Will definately stay again.

    5
« Will definitely go back! »

A pleasant hotel, spacious rooms with heated towels??. Neat and clean. Breakfast was limited but more than sufficient. The highlight however was the exceptionally friendly and helpful receptionist. She organized us a tour and found alternatives when the one we wanted was not available, was very helpful in helping us find the restaurants we wanted, and gave simple directions to get around. Will definitely visit again.

    2
« Inexpensive ...for good reason »

Limited review ...we arrived late and left early (flight). Not too handicapped friendly even though we had the basement wheelchair suite with special features. Noisy wooden floors covered with ripply carpet. Mattresses were rather disappointing. Window view of neighbour's loading dock. Centre of town £20 taxi to airport. No parking. Not able to experience Breky. Significant upgrades are needed before I return. Poor internet access ..because of basement? Sorry.

    « 2 night stay »

Very nice. Only there two night but managed to get an executive double for the same price as a standard double room which was great. 15 - 20 min walk to center but with shops bars etc to look at it didn't seem that long at all. We didn't bother with breakfast as out early so cannot comment on it. But would stay again. Sheffield couple

    3
« Great location but the room could be better »

Stayed here for a Saturday night in Glasgow. The room was very reasonable for the cost of £94 on a weekend. We arrived and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was spacious, had what we needed including TV, iron etc. My only faults with it was the shower was cold, ran it for a long time and the best it got was luke warm which wasn't ideal. The bed was a little uncomfy, it appeared to be 2 single beds pushed together which is fine, but there were different heights which meant it wasn't ideal when in the middle. It could be a little better, aside from that, it ticked the boxes

    3
« Stay at Best Western Glasgow »

We picked this hotel as it was reasonably close to our son's flat. It was OK but I don't think we would stay there again. Although the hotel offers a cooked breakfast, mediocre, no other meals are offered, so you have to eat out. There are plenty of wonderful restaurants in the area. The bedroom was alright, reasonably clean, and the bed comfortable. Bathroom and toilet was very cramped, you had to be careful not to burn your knees on the radiator when using the toilet. So I guess overall 5 out of 10.

    4
    « Value for money »

My friend and I stayed at this hotel as we were going to a concert, we chose it because of its central location and it was easy to find. The prices are very reasonable and the room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The only criticism I would have is that we were the first room nearest the front door and it was rather noisy. You can hear pretty much everything from outside as its a rather busy street but apart from this, it was a great stay. The staff were nice and helpful and the reception was manned 24/7 unlike the last hotel we visited in Glasgow. Great value for money, would book a room here again.

    4
    « Fantastic location »

Surprisingly nice for such a reasonable rate(70L for a double, does not include breakfast) and around the block from the Queens Rail station. Location is difficult if you have a car but its fantastic if you want to walk to shopping(Sauchiehall Road) and the sights in down-town Glasgow. Its within four blocks of the MacKensie Art Studio and School. Front desk staff were helpful with advice and making phone calls.

    3
    « clean but dull »

Rooms were very clean, the breakfast was fine, and the staff all very pleasant, but the whole hotel needs updating - the decor is SO bleak and quite depressing. Such a shame as it's position is ideal for the city centre, theatre etc.

    4
« Small Room but Great Stay »

I stayed here for one night as an extension to a business trip i was taking. It was very easy to get to from the airport. Simply take the 500 bus one stop (for £7) and then its a short walk (up a steep hill) to the hotel. I arrived and had a very happy receptionist greet me. My room was straight up the stairs and right next to a door so i feared that it constantly opening would keep me up in the night, but all was fine. In fact this is the first hotel I've stayed in where i haven't needed to put ear plugs in. The room was a little on the small side, but i'm only small myself so it was no issue. Bigger people would have had an issue with the lack of space. Tea and coffee making facilities were good and even included hot chocolate (a rarity these days)!! Breakfast was delicious. You serve yourself in one room and then go to eat in another room. The eating room was beautiful and a pleasure to sit in as i woke myself up. All in all a very pleasant stay, loses one mark due to the room size.

    5
« Best is really best hotel for family's »

Stay two day with my family really comfortable stay .friendly ,efficient and professional staff. Best part is peaceful environment. Breakfast was superb .I will recommend my friends and colleagues to try .

    « Little Gem »

This hotel is charming, quiet, clean and very friendly staff, only downside no restaurant but there are plenty of eat place well within walking distance of the hotel. I would go back to this hotel again.

    4
    « Old Building - Well Modernised »

Although this is a very old building and it still retains some of the original features it has been brought up to today's expected standards very well. I arrived early so the room wasn't yet ready. However the receptionist immediately offered me coffee so I was able to relax and use the computer in the residents' lounge.Indeed the atmosphere in the hotel is very relaxed and friendly. The room was small but was clean and well appointed - everything today's guest needs had been shoehorned in including an ironing table and iron. The radiator was one of the very big old ones which I had forgotten existed! I am glad I was allocated a ground floor room as there is no lift. There is a building site at the back of the hotel which my room overlooked but as I stayed over a weekend it didn't bother me as there was no work going on at the time. The hospitality tray included hot chocolate and shortbread - a lovely way to end the day! Windows opened just enough to let fresh air in safely. Breakfast was a help yourself buffet and it was excellent and even included that lovely Scottish dish - potato scones which I hadn't had in years. There is no main bar or restaurant. However a bar and food menu was on display in the residents' lounge. The location of this hotel is good - a few minutes walk from Sauchiehall St and very near Charing Cross Railway Station. This is an excellent hotel and a good example of the Best Western brand. I am coming up to Glasgow again in the autumn and this will be the hotel I will return to.

    « 3 days in Glasgow. »

We visited Glasgow for 3 nights and we try to chose Best Western when possible. We had read mixed reviews about this hotel, but was pleasantly surprised by the size of the room. The interior of the room (209) was perfect with both "office space" and a chair to relax in. We slept very well in the bed and the wifi worked perfectly. If we have to mention something negative, it must be the view directly into another building and the placement of the toilet paper holder, but neither of this really bothered us. Breakfast was good (for UK standards), and they even cooked soft boiled eggs for us upon request. If we ever go to Glasgow again, we would definitely stay here.

    5
« city hotel in glasgow is brilliant »

located in an old school of dance, this hotel still has many of the original features and feels like part of a cultural experience of Glasgow. Great staff, great rooms - each different. Lots of character, and near to the centre.

« Location and no Lift is a downer., »

A decent budget hotel., Located off the main streets of glasgow., If you got a lot of luggage you would have to climb!! as there is no lift in the hotel., Thats a bit of a downer!! the room I was given was small but comfortable.,

    « Great hotel »

I visited on business. Great room, friendly staff. The only thing missing was a lift. Clean room with room service. Breakfast was excellent. The hairdryer broke and was replaced immediately. No delay at check in or checkout. I would book again

    4
    « Not bad hotel »

The room was lovely and big, with nice high ceiling. It was clean and had tea coffee making facilities - and HOT CHOCOLATE too!! So that was a bonus for my hubby. The tv was a bit of hit and miss, the picture was floating in and out in some channels - but it might have been interference with the kettle as it was fine a while too. The room was abit too warm though - windows opened a little which helped abit... glad we were pretty much on the ground floor as well. there's no bar at the hotel though. Bed was big - it was made up by 2 singles but didnt realise til the morning so it didnt stop effect our sleep

    3
    « It's a nice hotel with a good location »

I recently stated for one night on a business trip. I chose the hotel due it's location to work. The room was small although decorated nicely. The only downside was the view of a pile of rubble and building site. Even though there is no restaurant here the room service options were more than enough. The customer service received was second to none and I would definitely stay again

    4
    « It was alright »

Stayed here for one night in June. Decent location, not far walk from the main shops but didn't seem to have many nice looking restaurants/ bars nearby. Check in was good, receptionist friendly and gave me directions for parking, they also give you a discount if you park in the nearby multi story. Room was nice, spacious and lots of plug sockets. Bathroom nicely decorated and awesome shower. Bed wasn't the greatest, bit too firm for our liking but each to their own. Breakfast wasn't cracking. All in all a good stay especially for how much we paid (£58 on booking.com) would stay again.

Stayed in this hotel this week first night the bulb blew in the room spent 3 days there and even though they were informed it still wasn't fixed. The room was facing onto a building site also the room was very cold the heating never worked complained twice and was given a blow heater .This hotel is very dated and needs a whole new makeover

    « Lovely »

Stayed for one night whilst going to a concert in Glasgow. Friendly and efficient check-in and check-out, lovely big room, immaculately clean. 5 minutes walk from The Garage (venue) and 10 minutes walk from The O2 ABC. Cash point 2 minutes away at petrol station down the road. Ideal location. Discount on local car-parking available, really handy. Will definitely visit again.

« Nice Hotel Good Location »

Stayed here one night for Coldplay concert at Hampden Park. Friendly welcome when we arrived receptionist was very knowledgeable on buses and trains to the venue. Room was well decorated but a bit on the small side and view of a pile of rubble wasn't the best, but to be fair we were in and out within an hour of arriving. There is no parking with the hotel but Charing Cross multi storey is just round the corner and the hotel give you 49 percent off if you present your card to the front desk. All in all a nice hotel

    « Overall Reasonable & Pleasant - needs a tweak here & there... »

Originally allocated a room next to the main road and when travelling for business i prefer the peace and quiet to work, although this requirement was requested at the time of booking and not acknowledged, Mary however is a credit to this hotel, lovely lady, nothing was too much hassle, she moved me to a room in the back, no qualms what so ever, room was clean, quiet and warm - ticked all my boxes, shower was amazing too, and lovely big bath, rooms are all of high standard, simple and spacious - would be nice if housekeeping would hoover when they service the room, as its the only thing i requested as everything else was fine. Ordered room service and again staff very helpful, quite disappointed with the food as i had the chicken korma and honestly would safely say it was a microwavable meal for a £1 i was served, lacked in flavor, chicken rubbery and definitely frozen but otherwise a lovely hotel tucked away - would happily stay again...

« Quite reasonable $$ and well situated to walk the city »

We spend three nights in Glasgow and found this hotel to be located centrally enough that we could walk to almost anywhere in the downtown in a short while, eliminating the need to take the hop on hop off bus. The room was cozy and clean and had we wanted to nosh in the am, there was breakfast in morning at an additional cost for travelers so inclined. The front desk staff were helpful, volunteering information about when there was free parking on the front street and suggesting we could move the car. This hotel is also close to the main highway leading to the airport and out the city to Edinburgh etc.. which is handy. This is classic hotel, that means many steps to the upper floors if you have a lot of baggage or mobility issues, which is something some people might consider an issue and might ask for a lower floor for accessibility reasons.

    « Overall a very nice hotel »

Stayed for Springsteen at Hampden. Lovely clean, smart hotel. Reception very helpful and ordered ourselves and other residents taxis. Unfortunately they didn't turn up and some of us missed first 30mins of the concert. Not the hotels fault but maybe worth them considering another taxi firm. Didn't have breakfast as we had a train to catch. Only thing that was a little off putting was that although the corridor outside our room wasn't the main thoroughfare when someone did walk down it the footsteps/squeaky floor boards were very loud. Probably loud enough to wake someone sleeping. Would stay here again though!

« lovely breakfast and good location. »

Good choice for a couple of nights, good position comfy rooms and a really delicious breakfast, . Thank you we did enjoy our stay and should we visit Glasgow again for a night or two would stay with you again

« Great stay at all »

Our room was located in the cellar of the hotel. Some conctruction workings there. A bit odd, but not loud or bad at all. Clean room and very nice and helpful staff. The breakfast was really excelltn. In my eyes the breakfast was the best at all!

    « Quaint beautiful hotel »

We stayed one night as we were visiting the hydro for a boxing match. The hotel is situated on a quiet little street and the hotel from outside was very picturesque. We were greeted by a lovely man on reception-didn't get his name but was so pleasant and made you feel very welcome. The hotel lobby is stunning and we had to go up a flight of stairs to our room which were also stunning. We got to our room and it had a lovely cosy feel to it. There was a comfortable bed which was dressed lovely, a clean bathroom, free WiFi, a TV, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, tea & coffee and a fridge with a small freezer. We had a lovely comfortable night and heard no noise from other guests or outside of the hotel. We booked breakfast and was met by Karolina who was bubbly and very helpful. There was so much to choose from at breakfast, cooked, cereal, fruit, yoghurt, Croissants and toast. There were hot drink options and also orange and fruit juice. Everything was cooked to perfection. I would definable stay here again and have mentioned it also to colleagues at work

« Boutique hotel in a great location »

I stay with Bestwestern all over the USA and decided to try it out in the the UK - it was a great experience. The hotel staff were very welcoming, the lobby area is well used but clean and tidy - its clearly a busy hotel. The building is a classic Victorian stone structure and it has retained a certain degree of charm. All in all it was great to stay here, right in the heart of the wonderful city of Glasgow.

    « Efficient hotel »

Fine - perfectly efficient secure pleasant hotel - I had a room at the front on the ground floor so could hear some traffic noise and people coming in and out - didn't really disturb me but you might want to check where your room is when you book.

« Great hotel and room 205 was brilliant! »

Me and my girlfriend came here on a holiday to scotland and we were both very happy with the hotel and the service we recieved. the price was fair for what we recieved and its not too far away from the city centre. The parking over night cost £12 after the discount was applied from the hotel. We stayed in room 205 which is apprantly the best room in the hotel and we could definitely see why, it was great!

    « 3 day break »

Clean, very nice hotel, standard double room quite small but contained all the facilities you would expect......plus a bath !.....let down by not having a bar or onsite car parking. Although a multi storey is quite close, make sure you have your car park ticket stamped at reception to obtain a discount. Also, breakfast is extra !!

« Good hotel, in an excellent central location for train, and foot. »

Booked the hotel "small double" on a good deal for 12 nights as our home "base" when we traveled the UK. The hotel is in an excellent central area, near Charing Cross station which is a huge plus for train travel. The hotel itself is a touch dated, rooms are small but very clean and a helpful front desk staff with a highlight in customer service that goes out to the lady with the long hair and glasses who works the long day shifts. Do not let the gas station near the hotel with the graffiti make up your first opinion of the area, as it is just an eye sore, nothing more. Of note; do not use the laundry mat there, as it ate all our pounds. In conclusion, if you are looking for a safe, secure, and clean hotel, that allows you privacy and the flexibility to come and go for nights without worry of your room and possessions, and can get past the small rooms, and some constuction noise towards the back it is well worth it. I would recommend, and stay again. "Very Good" for any people looking to see the sites. Overall a good experience.

« Tiny room with dreadful view »

Booked this hotel as it was close to offices that I was attending for 2 days. Walking in to reception started to tell me that I'd made a mistake. The first impression that it looked like a 1960's guest house in Blackpool. No lift is available to the room i was located in (Rm 306) on floor 3. I was carry my luggage, laptop and technical equipment so I felt like a Sherpa ascending Everest. My room was very small with the worst view i have ever experienced over looking the roof of a derelict building onto another tower block being demolished. I asked to move but told no other rooms were available. Also the room was so hot due to heating being on a timer i couldn't turn it off. There was no way to open any windows to get some air due to them being permanently nailed closed. With the room being stuffy I slept poorly. I wont stay here again and I wouldn't mind but it was quite expensive at £185 for 2 nights for a single person. The breakfast was very good with great choice and excellent staff

« Great location and fantastic staff »

Stayed here on the 17th of April for a night away with friends. The room was lovely and clean and the staff were very helpful. We are going back for a couple of nights on the 6th and 7th of this month and can not wait. THis hotel is also very central and parking was no problem with the added bonus of discount from the hotel. Looking forward to our next visit and seeing the lovely friendly staff again.

    « Background noise galore. »

I got placed in room 307 my first night and had the background noise of the nearby M8. I hate any kind of noise at night and I was still awake at 3:15 am (booked by my manager). There was another noise that permeated the constant road noise and woke me up whenever I almost fell asleep. I also had a lot of trouble getting the shower to work the next day. I only got a maximum of 10 seconds of warm (never hot) water at a time. I asked to be moved the second night and the staff were very accommodating and found me a new room very quickly. This room was 116 and the residual noise from the M8 was still there but the secondary noise was gone. There is a construction/demolition next door, although quiet in the night if you're planning on a lie in think again for now. The room was clean and staff were nice, the accommodation was also in a good location in terms of amenities and that's why it gets at least 2 stars. If you need a quiet room to be able to sleep then stay away from this hotel. And always avoid room 307. Otherwise I guess its okay.

    2
    « Sub Standard »

I checked in and was put in room 202 downstairs right next to the breakfast room and next to the staff door which they would bang every two minutes. No natural light due to this being underground. I went to reception to be asked to be moved so I could work in peace and was told the hotel was full. But was finally given a twin room after a good 15 minutes of arguing with them. Single bed for a 6 foot 4 guy isn't ideal but still at least it was upstairs. Rooms where basic and very unattractive, shower had no hot water which wasn't the best in the morning. Breakfast was fresh out of a school canteen and the sitting room resembled the same. Parking also very expensive. All in all a disappointment. Wouldn't recommended.

    3
« Close to the theatre »

I stayed here for a couple of nights. It's good for the local theatre which is just down the street. Got a couple of local pubs nearby and about a 15 minute walk to Glasgow Central station. If you do plan to walk into Glasgow there are plenty of restaurants pubs and independent coffee shops on the way. Hotel was very cosmopolitan when I stayed there with many European visitors . The room was a good size [especially for Best Western Hotels]

    4
    « Business stay »

Nice staff, comfortable room, good breakfast, good location (if you like city stays). Parking around the corner was convenient and getting your ticket stamped is essential to save money. Had a bit of an issue with my reservation; had to prove I'd paid for B&B as they'd got me down as RO.

« Great for short city stopover »

Excellent location , very close to Charing X station , excellent for sightseeing & main tourist attractions. Stayed here when I visit SEC Hydro for a concert .. easy to walk to . not far from the river Clyde, offering very good riverside walks , The room was very clean, the buffet style breakfast was very good, although I would have preferred a choice of eggs, but no worries, excellent reception from the young lady on reception.

    5
« Great location, helpful staff »

The hotel is located 15-20 min walk to SECC, 20 min walk to Glasgow University and 15 min walk to city center. In a short distance from bus stop to/from the airport. The staff is very helpful and polite, the room was cleaned daily, incl. making the bed and changing the towels. The room was OK, could be more spacious for a long stay with big suitcases. The bed was very comfortable. Heating was scheduled for a couple of hours in the evening and in the morning which is OK if are out for the day but if you arrive in the afternoon it could be unpleasant in cold and rainy days. Great value for the money we have paid. I recommend the hotel and would stay again!

« Will stay here again. »

We stayed here for a long weekend and will definitely stay here again. Great location, walking distance to all amenities, including Charing Cross station around the corner and SECC Hydro about 15mins walk. Downside was you could sometimes "feel" the trains going through as we were in the basement, but no big problem. The room was huge, as was the bathroom which was kitted out for wheelchair users (although l wondered how they would get down 2 flights of stairs but maybe there's a lift somewhere?) There was a fridge which was handy but tended to freeze things. There was a big mat between the foot of the bed and TV/fridge cupboard, which must be there to cover up something as it was poorly fitted and we kept tripping over the curled edges, which was especially dangerous in the semi dark! Remember to keep the blind down as the window is about head-height and we had a motorcyclist and a person with a hard hat pass right next to our window! (There are demolition works ongoing in India square at this time, Easter weekend). Apart from those points, the hotel is fine decoratively and the staff are friendly, welcoming and always asking if they can be of any further help.

    « Good for a short stay »

The rooms in this hotel were fine, clean, and a decent size. We were given a room in the basement as the hotel is a converted townhouse. The only problem with this was that all the dirty laundry from the rooms was thrown in a heap on the floor near to our room where it stayed for most of the day. I didn't find this very professional. There was free Wi-Fi, however I didn't need to use it. The hotel is in a good location - around a 15 minute walk from Central Station and the town centre. There was a kettle with tea and coffee and also a decent sized fridge which we found very useful. The bathroom featured a very powerful power shower which was brilliant. The staff were very friendly during check-in and check-out. The price was good for two nights. The worst thing about the stay was the fact that our bed was too singles pushed together and one of the mattresses had springs sticking out of it which made for a very uncomfortable night's sleep.

    4
    « Great for a 3 star »

Traditional hotel with renovated rooms. Cannot fault the staff - all the girls were lovely and couldn't do enough for me. Arrived late evening and receptionist very kindly got me some snacks from the kitchen. Slightly disappointed with variety at breakfast but great for a 3 star -cooked food was very tasty. Would recommend this but remember it's a wee bit away from main city centre.

« Nice hotel, shame about the noise »

Good location. Next door to the Kings Theatre. We had a ground floor room. Huge room. Huge bed. Small bathroom. Good shower. Nice telly. Pleasant staff. Woken in the small hours by groups of drunk people passing the hotel shouting loudly. Car alarm in the middle of the night. Woken by a street cleaner at 8am. Wouldn't stay again because of noise. Shame as its a nice hotel.

« Centrally located good value city hotel »

Midweek overnight stop with free street parking 6pm-8am. Good staff, good buffet breakfast. Small Double Room was a single room with two different height singles pushed together so not very comfortable. Wifi and TV signal weak. Good location for theatres and everything else in the city, although some road noise at night being so close to the motorway.

    « value for money »

stayed in executive twin room which was very spacious, breakfast was fantastic in a help yourself buffet style. Thoroughly recommend. In centre of Glasgow, within easy walking distance of shops and places to eat.

    « Top service with a smile »

Brilliant service and wonderful rooms. The staff were so friendly and helpful. I'd definitely go back. The rooms were large and really comfortable. Breakfast was excellent. Hotel is well located close to the vibey spots of the city centre.

« Friendly, helpful and polite staff and excellent location make this a great value option. »

Friendly, helpful and polite staff and excellent location make this a great value option. My room was perhaps a little cosier and smaller than I expected, but there are bigger rooms, and it seems standard size for Glasgow. It is essentially midway between the city centre, Cathedral and Kelvin Park grove museum ? all of which are in walking distance. Close to shuttle bus to airport and train links too. The breakfast staff are nice and the food is good. The reception manager was lovely. For me the standout feature was the domestic staff. I think they rotate staff between rooms but each day of mine I found each one of mine had made the room spotless. I rearranged a lot of the furniture and ironing board and kettle etc. They were happy not to change the rearrangements, but actually straightened them out to make the room look like an orderly work of art! They were great at refilling everything and leaving some shortbread biscuits were a nice touch. They also respected requests to leave containers with fragile goods alone. Sometimes it was so neat I didn't want to trouble them to change the room, but they still did it (unless I specifically told them not to, or left the sign to not disturb). I've got to say the domestic staff are like artists here, and are clearly very passionate about their work in creating clean, ordered and beautiful rooms. Also the heating was always turned on generously which was a relief after a day out in the freezing weather! It's always nice when the focus of a hotel is to make guests feel comfortable. This hotel was a good example and I would recommend it to anyone staying in Glasgow.

    3
« Fine for what you pay »

The not so good things about the hotel was that the room was a bit drab and the breakfast was fathom everything out for yourself. You help yourself to both cereal and a cooked breakfast. However, the staff were friendly and the hotel is in a good central location near Glasgow City Centre and just a very short near to Glasgow's Charring Cross station so no need for a taxi.

    4
« Ideally placed for the financial district »

Placed between the financial district and the main entertainment strip, this is ideally placed for a business trip. All of the staff were really friendly and helpful; the room was really comfortable, kept spotlessly clean and had everything you could need. The hotel does a limited room service menu for evening meals, but is very close to a large number of bars, restaurants and take aways. The rooms are very reasonably priced and I would definitely stay here again.

« Decent city centre hotel »

Stayed a couple of nights in a small double room special. Good value for what I paid. Hotel in great location - not too far in city centre, walking distance to the West End while still being in the city centre. Subway station, shops, food and cinema all just around corner as well. Staff were friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable. Heater / radiator took forever to get going though. Heated towel rack wasn't working - or maybe it just wasn't switched on and the switch was somewhere magically camouflaged.. Who knows. And towels are cleaned with some kind of chemical that isn't the nicest smelling thing in the world.. Either that or the storage room is to blame. Buuut it's all good. I got what I paid for and more. So really can't complain for a decent couple nights stay. Yes, I would recommend it if you're after something that does the job comfortably. Room service menu looked alright as well. But sadly I did not take the opportunity to indulge. Next time!

« Good location nice oldy worldy hotel and reasonable price »

Stayed for one night between christmas and new year - good option, really big room, good location and helpful pleasant staff. We had a room which faced the front street but I didn't find it too loud although my partner did hear street noise. A good and reasonable option for a quick Glasgow visit

    « Elmbank Glasgow »

Nice and clean, quiet . Friendly staff and responsive room service, very helpful folks. I had an issue with a lost mobile and Mary at the front desk took concern with it as if it were her own. She was very professional and really helped to relieve my anxiety at a particularly stressful time. I recommend this hotel and will return. S.I.

    « In a word disappointing »

My wife and I stayed here for one night in January, frankly it was 1 night too many. We needed a dog friendly hotel in Glasgow and found this hotel via Hotels.com. On check in it was clear that the hotel isnt truly dog friendly, it is barely dog tolerant. We were lead down to the basement rooms, ours was drafty and smelt of sewage, it was a known about problem because the room included a plug in air-fresher in an attempt to mask the smell. We reported the problem to reception and when we returned from dinner we were moved to another basement room. The new room was better and didnt smell, but the heating didnt work and we had to use a portable electric heater for warmth. The furnishings were heavy dark wood that added to the oppressive feeling in the basement. Sadly in the morning there was no hot water and it was cold showers all round. At the time of our stay (Jan 19 2016) the hotel was getting ready for an inspection, the maintenance guy was painting paintwork. From the parts of the hotel we saw, it is clear that this is an old building and it has been neglected evidenced by the need for painting and thread bare carpeting on the stairs. The breakfast was mediocre self serve, I would compare it to breakfast at a Super 8. Having stayed in Best Western hotels in USA and Canada, I find it hard to believe that this hotel is part of the group. I therefore cannot recommend nor will we return. The only positive I can add is that the staff we dealt with were very good and helpful in a situation largely out of their control.

    4
    « City Hotel, Glasgow »

Clean and friendly. We were only there for one night and it was just right for the purpose we needed it for. You should be aware that this hotel is very close to the railway and the trains can 'rattle' the hotel are they are going past. bit disconcerting if you don't know what it is.

    4
« Nice city centre hotel »

Have stayed at this hotel on business around 8 times. Each time it had always been very clean with good service from all of the staff. Breakfast is standard self service so nothing amazing but always a good selection of continental and traditional will cooked. Location is good for car access with bars and restaurants only a couple of minutes walk away. The very centre is only 5 mins walk. Anyone staying in the city would enjoy a stay here.

    4
    « Business Stay »

Stayed here for business, having previously used the premier inn. Parking on the street outside was fine, and free before 8am. Breakfast was included and good, rooms are small and a little cold. Staff were helpful and interent connection was good.

« Really great little hotel »

I had a great stay and would really recommend the hotel. The room was perfect, I booked a single room and it was perfect for a single traveller. Room was modern, well equipped and really cosy and clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly and really went out of their way to help me and even printing off route planners for my onward journey without being asked. The hotel is a great location, walking distance to everything in the city. I got the shuttle from the airport which was really simple as the hotel is just a few minutes walk from the bus stop. I would recommend this hotel.

« Really good city hotel with friendly staff »

We enjoyed a night at the Best Western City hotel Glasgow. We were down for a concert, and the venue, The Mitchell, was just around the corner. We were pleasantly surprised to be given an executive room, spacious and comfortable. There are good restaurants and shopping close by, and the hotel is located in a quiet street, away from main city traffic. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly, helpful and professional. There is no bar(although beer, wine, spirits and a small menu are available), but as there are plenty bars, good restaurants and clubs just along the road, no problems. We would recommend this hotel.

    3
« Okay hotel, central location, potentials for improvement, not too bad place though! »

Room was OK, so was location of the hotel. Close to transport links, bars, restaurants, shopping. Niceish lobby. Would I want to return to this place? Yes, when the construction work is done as hotel's location is totally OK. The room view and location was horrible: the construction area on the entire back-wind of the hotel, not charming. If this info was highlighted and the price reduced, it could have been somewhat tolerated if compensated for it. Room windows put up highly in the room, so the room is a bit darkish and you need to jump to see outside of the window. Some staff could smile a bit? Some staff could stop using tons of excuses for not the best rooms given, perhaps?

« Door did not lock »

Stayed here three nights in a row. Everything about the ROOM was tidy and clean, and an okay size for two people. The BATHROOM were just as neat as the room, but the fans were horrible. After we shut them off (which couldn't be done without turning off the lights, sadly), they still made awful lots of noise for nearly 45 minutes afterwards. The RECEPTIONIST were a lovely young woman who really knows how to accommodate her guests. We only got one duvet, and so asked for another one. No more than 30 minutes later, staff came with a double-sized one. We even got to borrow her private umbrella when we went out for dinner. But be aware! The hotel is old and the noise-isolation is horrible. Also: the DOOR DID NOT LOCK ON THE FIRST TRY. It kept opening after we locked it, and only after five tries or so did it really lock properly. The breakfast was, according to my companion, very boring and with no warm foods (not even boiled eggs), but okay for a quick meal. This hotel's biggest selling point is it's location, which is in the middle of the city centre, but still close to the airport.

    3
    « Just OK »

I stayed at this hotel for two nights in November, 2015. The hotel has no elevator and the room I stayed in was very small. It was clean and the bed was comfortable, but the room was very cold. A heater functioned during limited hours and I woke up freezing at night. I finally asked for a portable one which was provided. It was small but very effective in heating the room at the expense of a bit stifling the air. The breakfast was fine, though I had to pay extra for it. One of the Hilton hotels in Edinburgh was just as freezing. I think the cost of heating must be high in Scotland. I loved Scotland, though, and walking around Glasgow. The hotel is at a good location for the Western side the city.

    3
« City Centre Budget Hotel »

Location of the hotel is great if you want access to city centre - everywhere in walking distance, handy for motorway and west end too. Perfect if you are going to the Kings Theatre. There isn't any parking but street parking is plentiful but is pay and display. The hotel is a bit tired and dated. Rooms were stifling hot and didn't seem the cleanest! But did us for a quick overnight visit to the city. Breakfast was surprisingly very good and self service. Staff were friendly and helpful.

« Good value and good location »

This hotel was well situated for our visit to the SSE Hydro - walking distance so no need to worry about parking. Also walking distance to the city centre and both train stations. Helpful staff prepared with info on local eating places - lots to choose from

    3
« Good basic central hotel »

Hotel is in a great location. We were a group of girls occupying 3 rooms each on was different size but rooms are clean. Parts of hotel are a little tired but overall it a good hotel for the money you pay. Only downside is rooms have NO sound proofing, you can hear almost everything!!

    3
    « Good Location - Tired Room »

Ideal for visiting the city to shop or take in museums such as Kelvingrove, all within walking distance. Easy to find from the motorway and not too far from the airport. No car park, although there is a multi-storey, next door, which the hotel gets a special rate on. On street parking outside is free from 6pm - 8am then £3 an hour, max 2 hours. Efficient friendly staff. But our room was tired and cramped, shower leaked, no lift, stair carpets threadbare, just not what I expect at these prices or from Best Western.

    5
« Great Location, quiet yet in the centre of bustling Glasgow »

A rare find for a quiet located hotel yet only a few minutes walk from Sauchiehall Street and Glasgow centre. The room was absolutely huge and very nicely decorated. Great bathroom and shower too. Parking is offered at the multi storey next door for a discounted price for 24 hours, making it very easy to reach the hotel and abandon the car . Staff were very helpful indeed.

    « Great Hotel - 100% Would Recommend »

Me and my friend stayed here for one night as we were going to an event in Glasgow city. My expectations were low of this hotel, more due to how cheap it was. I was only looking for somewhere decent and cheap to put our heads down. I was so impressed with the room, staff and cleanliness. Our room ( number- 007) was huge and spotless, on the ground floor perfect for two girls dancing around getting ready to go out. The beds were extremely comfy, the room had everything we needed and the bathroom also was huge. I cannot fault this hotel. Some people may want a room with a view, however being on the ground floor opposite a construction site is where our room looked out to. This, however didn't affect our stay and there was absolutely no noise from the construction site in the morning! The receptionist who checked us in was very friendly and helpful, answered every question we had and gave great advice about taxis etc. The location was very central, we got everywhere and back within 5-10 minutes with cheap taxis. The one and only downfall of the hotel is the internal noise, we requested late check out and were still sleeping at around 11 am (it was a very good night!) however housekeeping were extremely noisy in terms of doors being slammed and shouting from very early on in the morning. We will definitely be returning to this hotel for our next weekend in Glasgow!!

We had a lovely nights stay in this hotel. The staff were warm and welcoming, booked us a taxi and ensured we were happy with everything. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is a little walk away from City Centre but not unreasonable. It was very quiet.

This is a lovely hotel, the only down side is no on site bar or restaurant. There is supposedly room service as I was told by the staff however no menu was in the room and none was forthcoming when I asked for one. This aside there are ample places to eat close by, however it the weather is bad prepare to get wet getting to them.

    « Overnight Stay »

Stayed here overnight with my wife and our experience was excellent. The room was spacious and clean, my only moan would be slightly tired bathroom but this is just being VERY picky! the breakfast was very, very good and beyond quality expectations. The staff were all very friendly and realised some of the breakfast items were running low when you arrived and came directly to our table with freshly cooked items which we hadn't asked far, excellent touch. Given the price we paid for our overnight stay, I can't recommend this hotel enough.

« Avoid if you can! »

We arrived at the hotel to leave our bag while we done shopping and returned at 5 pm. We were checked in which was fine. Went to our room 201 at the top of the stairs. The room was freezing cold and draughty. We had fiddled with the radiator but couldn't get it to work. The receptionist came up and mangaged. I was woken in the early hours to find that the heating had gone off it was freezing cold again. Their was banging and clattering coming from the alley way down below. Even the towel rail in the bathroom was stone cold. Returned home very tierd after been awake most of the night. Fair to say we won't be returning to this place. The room felt grubby as well as cold. Nothing executive (which was what if booked) about this booking. Will be emailing management which was what the receptionist advised me to do

Lovely hotel. Warm & dry on a wet few days in Glasgow! Lovely helpful staff especially in the breakfast room, good breakfast. Lovely clean rooms. Ours was small but met our needs. Good value and service.

« Great place to stay »

Last time I stayed here was a couple of years back on business, so whilst I was in Glasgow to see Skindred at the O2 ABC I thought I'd book with them again. When we arrived the room wasn't ready so the manager offered us a complimentary cuppa whilst we waited the ten minutes until we could get into our room. The room was large but still had the issue of condensation, due to single glazing, & the huge radiator pipes that heat the room even if you don't want them to. Large bathroom & free wi-fi were welcomed, as was the breakfast - even though there didn't seem to be as many staff as there were last time I was there. Overall a great hotel in a peaceful location - what more could you ask for?

    « Great location »

Really enjoyed my stay from the great welcome by the Receptionist to the breakfast before I checked out. Brilliant location and really comfortable room - only thing that was a negative was roller blinds. As I was on a ground floor room I would have preferred curtains.

    « Would stay again »

Hotel is in a good location, about mid way between the SSE arena and the city centre - well within walking distance of both. Staff very pleasant and welcoming at check in. Had booked a small double room, and that is exactly what it was. Not much room to move around, but perfect if you're not planning on spending too much time in the room. Towels in the bathroom were good. No noise.

Good situation for theatres, shopping etc. We were returning from a holiday abroad and found it difficult to find in the dark. We're in original part so large room with very comfortable beds. No lifts so 3 flights of stairs to climb. The clock not working and bathroom fittings in need of replacement. Room was far too warm as heating was on full blast but were able to turn it off. Was quiet, no internal noise. Staff friendly and helpful.

« Depends entirely on what you pay. »

Pros. Location, in City Centre about 15 mins walk from Central Station. Value....I paid £80 for two nights. Service.....drinks and snacks I ordered were brought to my room Comfortable bed, good shower (and a bath). Cons. About 200 yards from M74. An low drone at night could be heard at night. Room on the small side - but has everything you need. A little 'tired'. Not very 'visible'....I walked right past it ! At the price I paid, great value....but at the price of a single listed at reception (£89), I'd look elsewhere.

    « Avoid »

Arrived layer than expected due to not being able to find the place which was dark outside as lights were not on...blessing in disguise really as less time spent there. We were told we had been upgraded to a better larger room..downgraded more like !..surely they don't have worse rooms than this ! We were put in a dark and dingy miserable room with a frosted window you couldn't open and room was stifling hot with no air con and a fridge and kettle that didn't work. It was clean and that's all it had going for it. My wife complained to receptionist but she wasn't interested. Avoid at all costs.

« Okay for the price and good location »

The hotel was okay for a 3 star. We arrived about 1.30 and our room wasn't ready, which was okay as check in starts at 2. So we wandered back into town which is about 15 mins walk back to Bucchan street. When we went back at 2.45 there was a bit of a queue and a group in front with some of their rooms still appearing not to be ready initially, however after they made a point they all got room keys. We then got our room and a room with a view it certainly wasn't! The room was large but situated in a basement type area with lots of things like headboards and other bits and bobs lying around in the corridor nearby. The bathroom was basic (it was a disabled room which we didn't request or need) and as such there was no lid on the toilet and it certainly didn't have the fantastic shower other people rave about in reviews. The actual bedroom was large and had all the things you would expect such as tea, coffee, fridge, iron etc. We were going to the Secc for the evening and again the hotel is in walking distance so makes it an ideal location for concert, but plan your walking route as in place it can be dark. On arriving back at the hotel around 12.30 ish I was a little surprised that there appeared to be no one on reception and therefore no security to the place. We stay for breakfast so walked into town. All in all an okay option to stay for shirt break, but would have preferred a room with a better view /location and the shower that everyone raves about

« Great location, clean, cheap »

I wasn't expecting much from this hotel due to the low price paid (£55 on a Friday with U2 playing in town). However the location just off sauciehall street is good. The welcome was warm and the staff were friendly and genuinely interested in your stay. My room (7) was on the lowest floor, and had been refurbished recently. Modern, large and well equipped although the view was a building site! You get a kettle iron tv and a comfy bed. Wifi is good and free. Breakfast (9.99 extra) was ok and done buffet style. Overall a solid sensible choice for a no frills stay in Glasgow

« Nice hotel in great location »

I stayed in this hotel for 10 nights for business and had a wonderful stay. I booked an executive room and got the best room in the hotel (room 205 if anyone is interested). It was extremely spacious, had a nice rain shower and large windows facing the street. the only downside to this wonderful room is the closet next door where housekeeping keeps their towels etc. So at some point in the morning you will hear them in front of your door. Breakfast is okay, nothing special but enough choice for everyone The location is great: just two blocks to the left is Sauchiehall Street with bars and clubs. You can also walk to the shopping streets from there. Staff was extremely friendly. Very nice girl who checked me in and they were always eager to help. I would recommend this hotel but I know I had one of the nicest rooms in the house. I was here with colleagues and some of them had very very small rooms. So there is a big difference in this hotel.

Kindly upgraded after my delay following a foggy flight from Stansted. Fantastic high ceilings in the main bedroom. Lovely comfortable bed and good temperature, not too hot or too cold. Favourite part of the room was the rainfall shower!

    « Good location - competitive rates »

The hotel is located on Elmbank Street, the western edge of Bath Street and Souchiehall Street, a stone's throw from Charing X railway station. The airport bus (15 minutes) drops you two streets east of Elmbank Street. A walk along St. Vincent Street to the commercial centre ("Style Mile") takes about 10-15 minutes. I had a room on the groundfloor with a view of a small yard - but then you don't visit Glasgow for a room with a view, do you? The room was spacious, well-appointed (double bed, wardrobe, desk, table, two chairs, flatscreen TV, fridge, coffee and tea making facilities, iron, ironing-board, luggage rack). The bathroom had a bathtub with a shower, super soft towels. Full Scottish breakfast consists of bacon, eggs, fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes, sausages, toast, croissants, fruit yoghurt, plain yoghurt, cereal, fresh and tinned fruit. Beverages on offer are tea, coffee, water, milk, orange-juice, apple-juice. The dining-room is tastefully furnished, staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. E.g. if scrambled eggs is not your favourite egg dish, they'll prepare fried eggs for you. I spent six nights at the hotel and paid £317.25. Of course, I had booked well in advance.

« Nice hotel, good location »

We only stayed here for 1 night but hotel was perfect for our needs. Good value for money, good location and lovely staff. Hotel was about 1 mile from the SECC arena so was within walking distance. Outside the hotel were a few bars and restaurants but if you went to the top of the road there was a lot more choice. There was also a small theatre about 2 minutes walk away. The room we had was a triple so was quite roomy with 2 single beds side by side and a pull out sofa bed which could sleep a further 2 people and this was in its own little alcove. Main room had flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was modern and spacious with plenty of towels and the usual shower gels, soaps etc. the decor was a bit dated but the beds were comfy enough to get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was offered but not evening meals but there were enough restaurants close by. Staff were very friendly and ordered a taxi for us which came in 2 minutes. We were on 3rd floor and there are no lifts, and unfortunately my daughter was recovering from a broken ankle so it was a struggle for her but that's not the hotels fault, but bear this in mind if you are travelling with someone with disabilities. Would come back here again.

« Central, clean and helpful! »

Just arrived back from a two day break in Glasgow. Went for the first day of World Gymnastics Comp. at the Hydro Arena. Best western Glasgow City Hotel was perfect. Central to the Hydro and shopping. Staff friendly and Helpful. Lovely comfy bed. Clean sheets and towels each day. Buffet help yourself breakfast was as good as anywhere I have ever stayed. Yes, the decor looked a little tired but we only wanted a room to sleep in not to live in.

    « Traditional Looking Hotel »

The positives about this hotel were that the room was very clean, big and had all the little extras like an iron, ironing board, modern TV, coffee and tea. The only negative was the heating coming on around the hotel at 5am as it was very loud. The location of the hotel can be seen as good or bad. It is a good 15 minute walk from Buchanan Street which might not sound much but when you are sightseeing all day it can seem a trek. The hotel was very quiet which is a bonus of not being right in the centre.

    « Conveniently located hotel »

I was a bit hesitant to book this hotel due to the low ranking and average reviews. However this hotel turned out better than expected. First of all, the hotel is easily reachable via the airport shuttle bus or bus 77. The hotel is located next to the charring cross station and near the busy sauchiehall street. The center and main attractions are all walkable from here. I booked the single room and although the room is relatively small and felt a bit dated it was adequate. I was more worried about the construction noise, however this didn't seem a problem in my room. As long as a kept my windows shut, I didn't hear much from the outside. All I all, this was an ideal hotel for my city trip, location wise and price wise.

Older Traditional Hotel. Nice room, and large bathroom. Helpfull staff. Only a few hundred yards from The Kings Theatre, which suited us. Within walking distance from the train and bus station, but up a few steep hills.

« Average, fine for one night »

Stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a business trip to Glasgow. Friendly and helpful reception desk, was in fact upgraded to a 'small double' room (I had just booked a single room). The room was fine for my purposes, although I would have found it very small if I had booked a double room and was there with someone else. The view from the window was also particularly unappealing - see photo (large scale building work taking place behind the hotel, get a front-facing room if you can). I was unfortunate enough for there to be an evacuation due to a fire alarm at around 6:45am, obviously the hotel or staff cannot be blamed for this. This aside it was a decent night's sleep, would probably stay again if on business if other hotels too expensive but would probably not stay there in my own time!

« Tiny room and DIY breakfast »

Smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in (208). It felt like a prison cell. Carpet was worn, the remote control and sideboards were sticky and there was dust all over. The small window looked on to a wall. The staff were very pleasant. Breakfast was DIY.... was ok. Sorry would not stay again.

    « Relaxing stay »

We spent a couple of nights here and were really impressed. There is major construction work going on next door but we weren't affected by this. We had an executive double on the Sunday stayaway deal which at £150 inc breakfast for two of us was great value. The room was huge with a comfy superking size bed and a big bathroom, complete with toiletries. Breakfast was lovely with a great selection and plenty of choice for us veggies. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is well situated, close to Sauchiehall Street. We used the parking at Charing Cross, getting a reduced rate for Best Western Customers - about £11 per 24 hours. I'm glad that we did this as we witnessed a group of drunk lads walking near the hotel and one of them kicked a wing mirror off a car. I think this was a result of the bank holiday drinking so shouldn't be a problem most of the time. All in all an excellent stay and we would certainly recommend.

« Comfy bed, great bar, friendly staff »

I decided to stay at the Best Western when I visited Glasgow to see Celtic play against Dundee in November 2014, and was not disappointed with the room or the surrounding area. I spent a lot of time in the bar the first night, the hotel is central to wherever you want to go within the centre of Glasgow.

« A pleasant, clean place to spend the night »

We were looking for a decent hotel, not too far from the train station and not too expensive. This one fit the bill. The building is old and the rooms are small, but they are clean and comfortable. The lounge is 19th-century charming. There is no elevator but the desk clerk offered to help us with our bags. She was friendly and helpful, as were the other staff we encountered. There is plenty of nightlife on nearby Sauchiehall St. There was a major construction site right outside our window when we were there, but the workers knocked off about 10 or 11 pm.
