"Very nice, reasonably priced, good location at the Old Port"
Lawrence C, 08 Avril 2024

Very nice hotel with comfortable but small rooms. The staff is friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast is excellent. I was traveling on my own and had trouble finding the hotel tucked away in a narrow street but you won't find a better location near the old port for the price. With elevator access, my small room was dominated by a too-large bed but was comfortable and had all the amenities I wanted. I would stay here again and I recommend it without reservation.

"Wouldn't come again"
אורלי ט, 03 Octobre 2023

We'll start with the good: 1. Location was central & really great 2. Breakfast was very good, and for only 4 euros The less good: 1. Internet was terrible. Hardly worked in the hotel. 2. The noise was bad. We heard everything going on in the nearby rooms. People flushing the toilet. Baby crying. Or a group of teenagers on a school trip made it feel like a hostel. We tried to rest before dinner and there was a hammer banging. 3. When we arrived and had questions about the area, the receptionist wasn't so nice and didn't have much patience. 4. The pillow case was not clean. We don't know if it was an iron stain..but shouldn't have been there

"Nice stay at a well located hotel. "
Getaway33235880579, 08 Août 2023

We went to Genoa because we were taking a Cruise that departed from there, we arrived a day early and had to spend a night over there, the hotel was comfortable, and very well located. The room was small but modern. Breakfast was ok. Staff was very friendly. The location of the hotel is great, within walkable distance form many points of interest. Many restaurants also in the area.

"Just ok, nothing special to expect"
Reto1961, 31 Mai 2023

Location is excellent, just behind old port of Genoa. Reception staff not very welcoming, not unfriendly, but a little arrogant. Room was ok, nothing special, mid-size room. Breakfast was ok, just standard. If it wasnt for the location, the experience would have been worse.

"Excellent location!"
Pat K, 05 Mai 2023

One cannot ask for a better location in Old Town than where this Best Western is! It's very close to the Port, shops, and restaurants - all within the winding old streets of the old town. The room itself was fine - a basic hotel room with all the normal touches. One thing to note - we left our room right at check out (11am) and as we were standing by the elevator, two housekeeping women walked right into our room - as if to make sure we were gone. We've stayed in hundreds of hotels throughout the years and never saw this before. It obviously wasn't personal but I do suggest one leaves promptly or you'll get walked in on...

"Great location, great WIFI, great breakfast, front desk needs a bit polishing"
WorldTraveler919, 29 Juillet 2022

Central location, good breakfast, great WIFI. Park across the main road in the parking garage. Great restaurant across from the hotel. This is a fairly large hotel with breakfast in 3 shifts. My biggest beef with the hotel is that the front staff could be a bit more friendly and helpful. I felt like I had to drag niceness out of them rather than them volunteering it on their own. When you arrive through the front door they should look up from their computer and actually greet you, or at least smile.

"Great location, friendly staff, very comfortable and good beakfast"
BrettD161, 05 Juin 2022

The room was small (but fair for the price in an historic city centre). Excellent location for exploring on foot (don't bring a car though). We were there two nights on route to a vacation in Portofino and would stay there again.

"Nice hotel in lovely spot. "
david1892, 25 Mai 2022

Hotel is situated right next to the harbour and is surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants. The main square is only 10 minutes away from the hotel. Rooms are fine. Shower and bed perfect.Breakfast is fine and cheap. Tea/Coffee and juice. There is also cereal, fruit, yogurt, crossiants, eggs, bread and some cakes. Double check the parking payment when you arrive.

"Excellent value for money, great location"
swisstraveller002, 15 Mai 2022

We stayed here at the end of April for 4 nights and absolutely loved it. Should I return to Genoa, I will return to the BW Porto Antico. The location is great - its in a quiet side street in the old town of Genoa, with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops in walking distance. The porto antico, the sea and the aquarium are just 80 meters away - just absolutely as perfect as it can get in terms of location in my opinion. The hotel is located in an beautiful old building and has modern and clean rooms. They are not huge, but with everything you need and comfortable beds. The small breakfast buffet is good and for Italy (who is not great on breakfast) absolutely fine. The hotel is great value for money.

"Good hotel, terrible service"
Max B, 03 Mai 2022

Major issue with breakfast promised and paid for, but not provided. Staff refused to deal with issue and outright lied to us. Otherwise the Best Western Porto Antico is well located and good value. Expect better from Best Western.

"Very Comfortable 4 night stay"
Jon064, 10 Mars 2022

The Best Western Porto Antico is a good mid range hotel in a great ocation near the port. Rooms are well appointed considering with pretty decent WIFI access. Without doubt Grace the front of house receptionist made my stay as good as it was thanks to her kind & helpful manner. Thanks also to the manager Carlo who certainly has a passion for his property. If I am ever in Genoa again & needed to be close to he port I would for sure stay again.

"Ideal stay 2 nights"
Dave F, 05 Mars 2020

Explored this little known city after a cruise in 2017 or so. Nice place and an a cosmopolitan city to enjoy. Quite big and spread out. Hotel staff were really good. Stayed at the other BW in Genoa on another holiday. Italy is great!

"Very comfortable stay"
Gary_Talman, 02 Mars 2020

I have spent two nights at this hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with a variety of choices. Only a couple of gripes prevent the five star rating. Firstly there was no milk provided in the room so I had to ask at reception, who them poured me some into a plastic cup, fortunately there is a mini bar fridge in the room to keep it fresh. Secondly the coffee was not very hot even though kept on a hot plate. Other than the minor gripes the room itself was well presented with a nice king sized bed and a nice shower room with bidet, sink, toilet and shower. There was soap, shampoo/body wash and shower cap provided. Over all not a bad stay at all. Location was a little strange with no parking near to it. There is a McDonald's round the corner and some bars and restaurants near by. Transport links are not bad with bus and metro just down the road. My colleague cut his finger during the day, as part of the work we were carrying out, and the lady at the reception desk went and got a first aid kit and put a couple of plasters on for him. Out of the hotel and turn right, up the top of the road and turn left and just along about and there is an Irish bar, great beer, not so good food, we found the meat very tuff. But it was worth the walk for a Guinness :) The room I stayed in was on the forth floor, at the front of the building and came with the added bonus of a balcony,.don't expect a sea view or anything though as the hotel is away from the sea up a one way street with buildings surrounding it. When it was time to leave the reception desk ordered me a taxi for the airport, it arrived in a matter of seconds, it cost €21 to get to the airport which was only five minutes away. It was a Sunday morning whether that effects prices.

"Wonderful "new" property with a perfect location and great staff"
kenm323, 16 Février 2020

We cannot recommend this property enough for a visit to Genoa. Remodelled in a way that seems completely new, this place is great. Super easy walk to most all of Genoa's attractions and just minutes from the railway or airport. Staff is super too

"American Chain Hotel in the Heart of Old Genoa"
backpacker31, 13 Février 2020

About the only thing affiliated with Best Western is the name. Otherwise, it is nothing like I would have expected from its American locations. This hotel is located in a historic building right in the heart of Old Genoa/Porto Antico (walk to everything in the city from here). I must admit that when I first arrived I was somewhat concerned about the element in the area - it seemed a bit rundown with sketchy characters, but this is all part of the charm of Porto Antico - and as I spent more time here I realized that my initial observations were unfounded. That said, the interior of the hotel is lovely - modern and bright. My 6th floor room was of ample size with a comfortable bed, nice bathroom, good storage space and plenty of light. Of the four nights I spent here, I only experienced street noise on one night - and by midnight it was quiet. For 4 euros I enjoyed their buffet breakfast which included many fresh fruits, breads, cheeses, breakfast meats, scrambled eggs, yogurts, juices and made-to-order coffee. The staff members from the front desk to housekeeping to the breakfast room were all exceedingly professional, friendly and attentive.

"Nice hotel to stay in Genoa near the old port"
Ran K, 03 Septembre 2019

We stayed there for one night with children. They have rooms for five which is not so common. The room was good, no so crowded for 2 adults and 3 children. The beds are comfortable and they have enough towels and soaps. The air-conditioning is old and does not provide enough cold air for hot days. Breakfast was great, with bit and cold plates, pastries and juices. Location is good, the hotel is near the harbor and aquarium. The old city is nice even though a bit scary by night.

"Very clean and nice rooms"
Raffi S, 21 Août 2019

We stayed in this hotel with my family of 5 and we were extremely happy. The hotel looks brand new and the rooms are very clean and nicely decorated. Breakfast is excellent and very affordable (4 euros/person). I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are in Genova.

"No air conditioning in April"
jasongW9779EI, 02 Mai 2019

We arrived at 3PM on Easter Sunday and were immediately checked in. Room was warm but we just dropped our bags and I informed the receptionist that the air was not working. He stated it was locked and he would turn it on for our return. We returned after dinner around 9PM and the room was 80F and humid. The air did not work. I called down to reception and a new receptionist said she would unlock it. Five minutes later, since it still wasn't working we opened a window for relief. That relief unfortunately resulted in a handful of mosquitoes entering the room. I went downstairs to confirm face-to-face and was told that since the window was open (which they could see) the air would not kick on. Which was great, but it hadn't kicked on prior. I told the receptionist we had already closed the window and she said the air should work any moment. We never got air and after killing the mosquitoes we got some fitful sleep over the covers. So while the amenity is listed and I was promised it would be turned on, it was not. I would not stay at this property between April and October in the future.

"Biggest con is the noise"
drMendie, 02 Avril 2019

Pro: 1. location close to city center and old port, although street to old port is full of shabby people who look unfriendly. Did not feel entirely safe there 2. Bed. Matrass really good, I like firm. 3. Cleaning. Thumbs up for the cleaners! 4. Breakfast. Only 4 euros and for Italian measures it is extensive with bread, eggs, cake, fruit and more. Do recommend 5. Friendly staff 6. Minibar (although expensive) 7. Kettle in the room Con: 1. Noisy. I could hear the alarms from several other rooms and could literally understand a phonecall in another room. Room was on street, opposite is a restaurant and you van hear everything 2. No carpet in hall, can not walk there with heels without disturbing the entire hotel.

"Great location and excelent service"
LuCaioValente, 01 Avril 2019

The hotel is well located, né ar the Aquarium, port and also the mainframe attractions. Our room was spacious, really confortable bed. The shower was a bit small, but it was ok for us. The Service was very kind and presta good. Mrs Eleonora From front desk was very kind, provided us very useful tips onde what to do interior the City and surrounded area. That was perfect for us. Good breakfast with fresh fruit, lovely Coffee and other itens. Reccomend the hotel for couples and families.

"Plain, simple, clean honest value"
Origami_kid, 31 Janvier 2019

Nothing fancy or over the top here. Basic rooms (perfectly cleaned) basic breakfast (with a smile), well located. No restaurant for dinner -but many excellent places nearby. Ask for a high floor (there are 8) to minimise street noise.

"Great Hotel - Fantastic location"
Janetmaryb, 11 Décembre 2018

Stayed at this hotel for two nights in November - its location is fantastic only a few seconds stroll to the waterfront and just a few minutes to all the traditional sights of Genoa. Although not very large the bedroom was very clean, offered adequate storage, provided a kettle and a fridge. There were a couple of English channels on the TV and it was very warm as it was particularly cold when we were in Genoa. The bed was comfortable too. We chose to eat breakfast in the local cafes but the breakfast offered by the hotel seemed very good value for money at three euros.

"Best bed ever"
Traveler627291, 26 Octobre 2018

My room seemed recently renovated, but was pretty small. Furthermore the tiny desk didn't allow to seat and work effectively. On the other hand, the bed (mattress+pillows) was probably the most comfortable I ever found in an hotel and the breakfast was very good in terms of choice and quality.

"Overnight Stay"
Peter G, 25 Octobre 2018

A modern hotel situated just off the main road by the port. Very helpful and friendly staff. Easy check in if you have pre-booked online. Lots of alleys to explore and many eateries in the area. A good breakfast too

"Nice and friendly"
DPinSvezia, 13 Octobre 2018

In other cities you can probably get better (bigger rooms, more light inside, a better view) for the same amount of money, but this is the center of Genoa, and I guess this is the standard there. In any case the hotel was nice, clean, with good facilities, a nice breakfast and super friendly staff.

"Friendly small hotel"
jennie k, 17 Septembre 2018

It's very orange inside and the rooms are on the smaller side but perfectly adequate and comfortable. The bathroom is small but with a good shower and very clean. Air conditioning worked well and room overlooked a courtyard with good blackout shutter. Breakfast was fairly basic but again very acceptable. All in all a pleasant stay as the hotels location is perfect for the old port of Genoa and close to the conference centre/ yacht basin

"Really nice hotel "
680amitm, 18 Août 2018

I had a very enjoyable four night stay here. The hotel is modern, with reliable air conditioning and WiFi. The situation in the historic Old Port area of Genoa is ideal for exploring the narrow streets. It is an easy walk to the wonderful Piazza de Ferrari. Good bars and restaurants abound. The staff are helpful and friendly. Why just three stars, I ask myself.

"Great for a visit to Genoa, very close to the aquarium."
EgidioLuongo, 18 Août 2018

Great place to visit Genoa. We have been there with the family. The hotel is a classic of the Best Western, for those who know the hotel chain. Very convenient for a visit either in the historic center or a trip to the aquarium of Genoa, or even the marina. The hotel is comfortable, not great but the rooms are comfortable, even for a family with children. Unfortunately, it does not have internal or external parking. If you arrive by car, you need to go to a paid parking area, not far from the hotel, which has an agreement with the hotel and costs 18 euros per day. I advise you to call the hotel, before arriving in Genoa, as, having arrived in Genoa, you need to know what direction to take or find yourself in the middle of one-way streets and you risk getting around the car several times; how did it happen to me :)

"Great location, friendly staff but a family hotel not for couples"
RJ776, 21 Mai 2018

This hotel is in a great central location near the port. It is clean, modern and the staff are friendly and helpful. Unfortunately as a young couple we found the hotel very noisy (especially during the night and early morning pre 7 AM) This was due to a lot of young kids staying. Before any jumps down my throat I appreciate children get upset/tired/grumpy my observation is that this is a great hotel but probably not one to stay at unless you are with a family/kids. PS - great restaurants straight outside the from door

"Clean and Centrally Located"
Lauren R, 21 Mars 2018

A clean and small budget hotel in a great location for exploring the ports of Genoa. The room was nice and even had a small balcony looking out into the narrow, winding street, and it was easy to feel wrapped in the locality. We loved waking up in the morning and throwing open the balcony doors to hear the bustle of the port. The room was equipped with very generic amenities (shampoo and bodywash all-in-one from a dispenser on the wall of the shower, for instance) and the elevator was very small. We opted to have one of us take the bags up in the elevator and have the other person take the stairs. You should definitely not try to put more than 3 people in that elevator and that's really pushing it. We ran out of tissues on the first night and conveying this fact to the woman running the front desk, and then actually getting a replacement box took about 20 minutes. Apparently tissues are somewhat hard to come by. This hotel is in easy walking distance of the Aquarium, which was our primary destination. Also, literally across the street, we had the best pizza of our trip at Savo (seriously, get yourself some reservations). I would not recommend wandering far from the hotel at night.

"Wonderful location, hassle free parking in the middle of Genova Old Port"
Ginger1Winterthur, 19 Janvier 2018

Always worried to access incidentally one of Italy's “Zone a traffico limitato – ZTL” and paying at the end very expensive fines, we find this hotel in Genoa's Old Port as great compromise to be in the old city and at the old port. Very clean, helpful staff and a nice selection for breakfast. Even more important was that if you ask for a quiet room you will face an inner court and enjoy a relaxing and restoring night. The parking is just opposite of the main costal road and can be easily accessed with an elevator bringing you just directly to your car.

"The heart of old Genoa"
Joseph J, 14 Janvier 2018

Hotel was very well situated near the port in the heart of Genoa. Amenities were good considering the room price. Room was clean, adequate and comfortable but unfortunately the only view was of the airshaft. It was ideally located for walking and also near the Principe train station. Trains were very easy to use and we managed a side trip to Cinque Terra to round out our Genoa part of our trip.

"The smallets, the best"
gianmatteo_zappia, 09 Novembre 2017

Small structure, very clean, confortable, very convenient position, ok price, excellent personnel at Reception always available, suitable Hotel parking for the car near by, good breakfast, close to many restaurants at walkind distance, in front of the Acquarium, old Port, bars

"Basic Hotel Close to Aquarium"
Dana A, 31 Octobre 2017

We stayed in the family room that accommodated two adults and three kids. One bathroom though was not enough! Shower is small. Room was just OK. Location of the hotel in the old part of town has its positives and negatives. It's close to the Aquarium and other attractions. However, the old part of town and the narrowing alleys felt sketchy at best especially in the evening when we decided to walk and find a place to eat. Prostitutes and drug dealing (in front of our eyes) and given that we had children, we turned around and ate at the restaurant across from the hotel. Friendly staff but not as many as it should, so the wait could be long before someone attends to guests.

"Good and reasonable priced hotel"
Thomas M, 30 Octobre 2017

Good hotel with decent prices all over. Rooms are small but 3 persons are able to stay there. Breakfast is acceptable taken the price into consideration. Area is filled with good restaurants and close to the marina. A good choice.

"Ideal hotel"
MarHod, 29 Octobre 2017

The hotel is in an ideal location in the atmospheric old town and two minutes from the harbour promenade. All the tourist sights (including the palaces in Via Garibaldi and the Duomo) as well as many delicious local restaurants are within a ten minutes' walk.. Rooms (although not very large) are very comfortable with everything you need. We stayed for four nights in a nice sunny room with a balcony overlooking Via Ponte Calvi and it was a pleasure to watch the comings and goings. Hotel staff are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was plentiful and varied and of good quality including strong espressos. We greatly enjoyed our stay at the hotel and would stay there again.

"Downtown town location; old hotel"
Jerry6305, 23 Octobre 2017

Our room was very small and dark. There is no view. It was clean. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the aquarium and a number of restaurants. At check in the clerk was not very helpful. A later clerk was helpful and made a number of recommendations for dinner. There seem to be a lot of people loitering in the immediate area of the hotel. If visiting Genoa again, would not stay here.

"DIFFICULT TO ARRIVE BY CAR"
Adrian H, 13 Octobre 2017

Really good location, friendly staff, clean room. Arriving by car is very difficult if you do not know the exact location. GPS registers as restricted road and will not take you directly to the hotel. We found it better to park and then walk to hotel in order to get detailed instructions how to come by car. Breakfast very poor and not to normal standards. Good value but parking costs euro 18.00 per day with the hotel discount.

"Positive experience"
revitalise, 09 Octobre 2017

I stayed here for 2 nights. Accessibility was good (I arrived by train and elected to walk to the hotel but the metro is another option - 1 stop from the main railway station). The hotel is located in a small street moments from the harbour front. I was very satisfied with the room I was given. Admittedly there was no view to speak of but the room was comfortable and had everything I required. The shower room was fine too. WiFi connectivity was very good. The breakfast room is on the small side and the breakfast was adequate but unremarkable. Staff were very friendly. A good choice for historic Genoa.

"A shoe box to be avoided at all cost."
RICHARD B, 08 Octobre 2017

We ranked this hotel at the very bottom of the 18 hotels we stayed in during this 10 week trip to Europe. We thought this would be acceptable because of its location, but the Best Western Metropoli would have been a better choice. The NH Hotel though more expensive would have been worth the price after we saw the actual hotel but we were not permitted to cancel. without a 100e penalty. Located on a small side street across the expressway to the harbor, a small temp parking space is available for loading and unloading your luggage. Commercial parking is a 5 minute walk away @ 18e per day. Our double room was so small that it would only accommodate one suit case and as we had booked for 4 nights we were obligated to request a larger room for an additional 20e per night. The upgraded room contained a small bunk bed that could be converted into a couch with a cheep leather cover. We then had a place to put our suit cases while we set on the bed. Furniture consisted of a tiny table and wooden chair and the room was decorated in cheep red wall paper. The window looked out into a dark alley which was necessary to keep closed because of the noise and the smell. The tiny shower continually switched from hot to cold as the plumbing was not pressured balanced. The hotel room did have excellent WIFI with a speed of 19.79 MBS. The small breakfast room was like a zoo, The staff worked hard but were unable to cope with the number of hotel guest and the food with space provided and the complimentary breakfast met minimum Best Western standards. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful and told me confidentially the owners believe they can demand high prices not withstanding the hotel condition and service because of the hotel location.

"Excellent base for a visit to amazing Genua"
Detritus68, 26 Septembre 2017

After you have reached the Hotel (which is not easy despite the description they sent me, as it is situated in a very small alley in the Centro Storico), everything is organised very professional. The parking is near by and with EUR 18.- for the whole day not expensive (try to find something cheaper!), the reception well-informed and the room (especially for the location) big enough and quiet. They also helped me out with a mistake when filliing out the parking permission (to enter the centre you need one, which you must fill out after arrival). Breakfast we did not try as there are so many lovely small cafes in this town :-)

"Great"
ruxip2017, 06 Septembre 2017

Bit expensive, but worth every penny.Friendly personnel, very clean, good conditions and very well positioned, close to the famous Acquario di Genova and the port.If you are looking for a quiet, clean place with 24 h personnel at your disposal, this is the right place to be

"Nice, very centric and clean"
leleloco, 12 Août 2017

Very nice hotel in the deep city center. Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice view, huge flat tv, free coffee/tea with kettle in room. Dog friendly: we were traveling with our 32kg Akbash dog. we really enjoyed the stay in this hotel

"Excellent location to explore Genoa on foot"
tiziano2, 24 Juillet 2017

We arrived at the Hotel at 10pm after a journey that should have taken less than six hours took 13 hrs due an autostrada closure due to an accident and consequential heavy traffic on the other roads. Although we had printed the directions to the hotel, and also had the GPS data, we did find it very difficult to find in the dark as the route takes you through some very dark and narrow streets in the old town, some of which we couldn't believe were able to accommodate a car. Nevertheless, we finally made it and were able to park in the single parking space opposite to check in. The hotel receptionist (Michael?) could see we were stressed and tired and said that we could take our time getting our luggage to our room, have a shower and unwind before moving the car. His understanding really helped to ease our stress and took the pressure off us. The car park the hotel uses is a minute's drive away and was a secure underground area accessed by a keypad. Having parked the car we didn't feel inclined to drive again until our departure, but there is plenty to explore in Genoa on foot. Our room overlooked a narrow pedestrian side street with another building directly opposite so there was no road noise whatsoever. It was very spacious, modern, spotlessly clean with a comfortable king-size bed and plenty of storage space. Wi-fi worked well. Breakfast was served in a small-ish room that was a bit cramped when busy but did offer enough seating. It was typically continental – bread, croissants, cereals, fruit/fruit juice, cold meats and cheese – all very fresh, and the staff were very quick to clear tables and replenish the food and drink. The hotel is exceptionally well-located for exploring the bustling Porto Antico area, the waterfront, the narrow old town streets and there are countless bars and restaurants right on the doorstep. Having seen Genoa by day and getting our bearings and we would certainly stay in the hotel again. Don't worry about taking your car into the ZTL (the low emission zone) to get to the hotel as the hotel sorts out the relevant permission for you when you arrive.

"Great location"
Donna G, 18 Juillet 2017

Hotel is convenient to the port and many nearby attractions and tours, within walking distance to Christopher Columbus's house. Good restaurants in the area. Staff was very helpful. While our double room was small, it was well equipped. Noise from the street was a problem easily solved using white noise on the I-pad.

"Good Quality Hotel in Central Location"
CelestiaWales, 12 Juillet 2017

The hotel has the quality and facilities that one expects from Best Western. The staff are helpful and friendly and speak impeccable English. The hotel has a great location down a medieval lane with lots of cafes and restaurants. It is about 10 minutes walk to all the central tourist sights and about 5 minutes from the harbour front. Due to its location, the hotel is quiet. The downside of this seclusion is that none of the rooms have views and it would improve the hotel if they created some outdoor space for quests, particularly for the hot summer. There seems to be a roof terrace, but this is off limits to guests. My double room was comfortable and well-appointed. However, the air-conditioning unit is too old: it was inefficient, not really getting cold enough, and very noisy at night. I did try to sleep with the window open instead, but there was a horrible stench from the drains (and I was on the 8th floor!). I suspect this issue has more to do with the state of Italian infrastructure rather than something the hotel could remedy other than fit some new air-conditioning units. This is small issue and I would happily recommend the hotel.

"Great if visiting the Acquarium, child friendly "
Angus M, 07 Juillet 2017

Simple, clean and efficient hotel that is a good choice if planning an early morning visit to Genoa's excellent acquarium. Our family room for five was a tight squeeze but good value. Friendly staff and we appreciated the push-chair on hand to borrow and the toy cars gifted to our toddlers on arrival

"The smallest the best"
gianmatteo_zappia, 28 Juin 2017

The smallest, the Best, excellent position, clean, quite, reasonable price, excellent recepttuion, sevice, availability, breakfast, good size rooms, late check out available, waiting list for successful, early morning breskfast available, esilio call effective, laggage drop available etc...

"Great hotel close to Train Station and Center"
Wise14u, 27 Juin 2017

Awesome pillows and pretty comfortable bed. Nice bathrooms with shower. Updated. Air conditioning. Reception was nice and accommodating. Breakfast was okay but not great. Limited selection, all cold items other than toast, not many pastries. Close to aquarium etc. Close to Piazza Príncipe Train station about a 13 minute walk.

"Family Friendly Rooms & Convenient Location"
Rebecca L, 25 Juin 2017

This is a multi-story hotel in the vibrant and walkable Old Port area of Genoa, not the typical two-story motel most people think of with the Best Western name. The room was perfect for a family of four with a king-size bed and two bunk beds for the kids. One thing to note, you must put your room key in the slot inside your room to turn on the A/C and lights (typical in many European hotels). Also, the elevator (just one) is tiny so be prepared to make multiple trips if you have lots of luggage. There's a beautiful staircase nearby. The hotel is located on a (mostly) pedestrian only street so parking is about 1 1/2 short blocks away. Call ahead to get directions to the correct parking lot as they offer a slight discount. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We didn't spend much time in the lobby but it looked to have a large business area with computers. The nice thing with the hotel being associated with Best Western is that we could make changes to reservations through the main Best Western website, not dealing with a language barriers and time zone differences by phone or email at the individual hotel.

"Fantastic Hotel in a great location"
dawn2281, 22 Juin 2017

This hotel was the perfect choice for our family. We were able to easily walk to everything we wanted to do aquarium, kids park, museums, cathedrals, getting lost in the city maze, shopping, restaurants. The rooms was comfortable and it fit our family of five (we booked the family suite). The internet was fast...we could watch our netflix movies which kept the teens happy. The breakfast is pretty good and only 3 euros...honestly you can walk up the street and get an amazing espresso and focaccia for 2 euros. This hotel also sells discounted aquarium tickets...so no waiting in line, what a win ! Yes it does have one small elevator...we took the stairs :)

"Nice little hotel"
nak_lang, 18 Juin 2017

When I think of best western I think of like a drive inn hotel motel brick veneer place like Australia. How things change. This place is actually stylish. I walked in off the street wanting a room for 1 person for 1 night on a saturday. Was immediately told it was full but then she remembered she had a single room. It was single bed tiny room for 100 euro. Good enough for me. Breakfast included. Room was ok and modern no issues at all. Tea and coffee facilities much appreciated as a lot of hotels in italy don't offer that. Wifi fast and free. Location is great and central but very very easy to walk past and miss. Don't be looking for any big blue best western sign as I was. I walked past it twice until I realised it was the hotel I was looking for. There is a lift albeit very small lift. I got the stairs most of the time as it was usually in use and on the higher floors. It is very small. Maximum 5 people 440kg lift. One person wearing a big backpack almost fills the thing up. For me the accomodation and service side of things was 4 star. Buffet breakfast is where it loses a star for me. I turned up at maybe 9.45am there were 4 other people sitting down but staff were in chaos running around like crazy. The area was very messy and the buffet itself was unhygienic. Just 1 pair of tongs to use for everything as well as egg covered spoons and forks that people had seemingly used to get food with and left behind (as there were no tongs). Sliced breads were covered by a grimey teatowel. No salt and pepper to season the unseasoned eggs. Other than that it was ok. Really chaotic however and You should arrive early as they started packing it away at 10am 30 minutes before it closes. Staff - I can't comment on them too much as both check in and out were very quick and I had little interaction with them. They seemed fine. There wasn't a lot of warmth but they were not rude also. Perhaps soundproofing in the rooms could be better. Any people outside in the hall and it will sound much the same as if they were in your room with you. Sound passes through the door very easily.

"Good value"
Pekka T, 29 Mai 2017

Location is perfect for exploring Genova. Very friendly staff, clean rooms with very well working air conditioning and wifi, excellent breakfast. Parking and nice restaurants very near. All in all, very good hotel with great value for the money. Would recommend and would go back.

"Great location"
Karen48207, 23 Mai 2017

The room is small but has enough space to put bags etc. We didn't have a view but that didn't worry us. You are only going to sleep there anyway as there is so much to see. The bathroom is nice and big. They have an environmental policy in regard to saving water and there are little messages in the bathroom etc. I always love to see that. Just a small thing. Location is great as you can walk anywhere. There are some lovely little restaurants just outside so you can't get lost after having a meal and a few drinks. Lots of sights to see and shopping down some lovely streets all in walking distance feim this hotel. It took about 20 mins from Genova Piazza Principe train station and cost 25 Euro.

"Nice hotel, fair price."
wandering_dynamo, 30 Avril 2017

The hotel is in Porto Antico (Old Port), the old part of the city, a very lively area made of narrow streets right across the marina, very close to the Aquarium. Parking is available at Marina Antico Porto Parking with a discounted tariff for the hotel customers. The hotel is new and very clean; rooms are comfortable, they have air conditioning, minibar, safe and kettle with complimentary coffee and tea. Continental breakfast is also available for 3 euros only!!! The location is very good as many attractions are just a short walk away; staff is kind and professional, price is very good indeed. We enjoyed our stay very much!

"Well located, clean, good value for the money"
Tripljak, 12 Avril 2017

I stayed at this BW for 4 nights in April. I chose it because it was close to the start/finish line for the Half Marathon race of April 9, 2017. It is steps away from the port and all the attractions there, as well as the old town with its small winding streets and tiny shops. My room was a good size by European standards, with a very comfortable kingsize bed and flat screen TV, though I never had time to watch anything so I can't comment on its quality. The bathroom had a shower and a bidet, no bathtub. The shower size was fine for me but might be considered a bit small for a full adult male, still it will get the job done. There was one averaged size window with shutters with a view of a building across the street. I liked the fact that I could open the window and listen to the street noises but could have peace and quiet once it was closed. The building is old but very clean. There is an elevator but, like most elevators in old buildings, it is small with a capacity of 4 people without their luggage. I doubt a wheelchair would fit, you should check with them ahead of time if that is your case. There is a buffet breakfast that is adequate to most needs, the regular coffee is great and they will make you an expresso or cappuccino if you ask for it. They also have free WIFI. The staff is terrific, you can ask them just about anything and they will do their best to accommodate you. They really made my stay very pleasant, I would stay there again.

"Hotel Genova"
Mineclearer, 14 Mars 2017

Whilst not in the best part of Genova it is clean, well run and provides a comfortable quiet nights sleep. The rooms are spacious by European standards comprising a king bed, lounge, writing desk, bar and toilet with full amenities and large enough for two Breakfast is well presented and those going on a cruise are well placed to the port

"dont expect great service or care"
lagrsp, 13 Mars 2017

I booked this hotel and told the staff that i would arrive at 11am and would need to check in as I had appointments in Town; The response? A single sentence that they did not do check-in before 2pm! No alternative offered, suggested or proposed. Take it or leave was their attitude. Of course, I left it and will go elsewhere.

"Nice small hotel"
Alina S, 07 Mars 2017

This hotel is small, nice hotel, located close to the Aquarium. The room is clean and nice. The breakfast was very good. The only problem is the elevator that is very small and it takes too long to go upstairs.

"Good location but noisy neighborhood"
Xplorer42, 11 Février 2017

This hotel just walking distance to aquarium and all main attractions . Streets will lead you to strip of souvenir shops and restaurants. Theres a couple of italian restaurant just in front and a souvenir store. Hotel room have high ceilings, but had a sleepless night during stay coz of people outside were up till 2 am in the morning, not a noise proof window. Staff were okay , seem unwelcoming and snobbish but not intimidating. Basic breakfast were okay.

"OK for a Short Stay"
Smartblonde, 18 Novembre 2016

The Best Western is a good choice if you'd like to stay near the old city and the old port. Wedged into a wall of buildings, it's narrow and modern. The room was small, but adequate. There are no drawers (common in many European hotels), but there are a few small shelves. It was also dark, but that can't be helped due to its location on a narrow street in the old city. The bathroom was sub-par for an accommodation of this level. The shower was smaller than those found on most cruise ships, with poor water pressure, water temperature continually varying, and bad drainage. There was no counterspace and poor lighting. The WiFi is free, but terrible. Breakfast is very reasonable at 3 Euros. It was adequate but nothing fancy. A word about Genoa. We were only there for a day, but I found it grimy and polluted. There's a ton of graffiti, but also many beautiful building left from its glory days.

"Very good location, friendly staff, good breakfast"
Enrico R, 11 Novembre 2016

The hotel is very well located, two minutes walk from the aquarium, in a quiet street. My double room was reasonably spacious, with a very comfortable bed. Breakfast is very good, with a variety of savoury and sweet options, good fruit juices and coffee.

"Stayed here for son's birthday at aquarium"
Emma W, 28 Octobre 2016

Excellent service. Hard to find by car as you have to go through the limited traffic area but definitely worth it. Excellent service. They even had a pushchair for our youngest. And helped me print out my daughter's homework. A short walk to the pirate ship, aquarium and all other kids' destinations. Superb cleanliness, excellent and varied breakfast . Wonderful all round Would certainly recommend

"Close to the Porto Antico"
AnilNLondon, 20 Septembre 2016

We had a room at the back of the hotel, a bit dark with a shuttered window, but importantly it was clean. The hotel's location was good, near the waterfront. and the many restaurants there. It was also close to many of the old city sights, especially the grand palaces. Breakfasts: the hotel's offer of 3 euros a person- really excellent value for money, compared to the exorbitant costs of French hotels' breakfasts. Parking is available in a nearby small underground car park- but do book a space with the hotel when you book the room. The Reception staff were excellent and very helpful day & night.

"High up in Genoa"
Katesgrove, 19 Septembre 2016

Our room was on the seventh floor and did not have a view. It gave us a feel of what it is like to live in the narrow streets around the port. The room was clean and well designed. Breakfast was on the ground floor and was substantial. We came by car and requested a parking place. The garage was several alley ways away but to get their by car was challenging for visitors. The staff were very helpful.

"Great base"
Kevin H, 09 Septembre 2016

We came to the hotel by walking from the Genova Piazza Principe station - about 10-15 minutes, We took a shaded alley, which did not give us a great first impression of the neighbourhood. As we became more accustomed to the alleys and the grittiness of the old part of the city, we appreciated the hotel's location far more. Even at night we felt quite safe in the area. We could easily walk to the waterfront and to many of the old city sights, especially the UNESCO heritage trail through the grand palaces. The hotel was most satisfactory. We found the room large enough for two, the bathroom reasonable (although the shower is a squeeze for larger people). The bed was comfortable and the cleaning and servicing was quick and good. The WiFi was excellent and included in our charges. We did not have breakfast included, but took the hotel's offer of 3 euros a person and think it must be the best value in Italy. The reception staff were efficient, friendly and helpful. The hotel has lots of families stay as it is close to the Aquarium. If lots of kids bother you, consider this, especially during school holidays. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

"Great location to visit the old town"
XavHa, 01 Août 2016

The staff was great, the room quite large, very convenient and absolutely clean; we had a large bed, very comfortable and there were enough pillows. The location of the hotel is perfect to discover the old town and the Porto Antico – everything in walking distance. The breakfast buffet is OK, but not the hotel highlight. And the room was a little noisy (noise from other rooms, not from outdoors). But we would definitively come back to this hotel.

"Great hotel "
edda björk j, 25 Juillet 2016

Went there on our honeymoon in June and really loved it! Great location, staff was very friendly and helpful. Very close to the aquarium, and also short distance from the center of the old town. Only down side is there was no window in our room, because our room was facing an alley, so it was difficult to know how the weather was. But the room was big and very cozy. Would definitely go there again!

"Nice and clean hotel,perfect location"
rambod-g, 21 Juillet 2016

I was for 4 nights on July 2016.the weather was nice, the hotel so clean and staffs are very welcome ,always smiling and give good suggestion for food and places, the location is perfect ,near to harbor and old shoppings and Restaurants, try locanda spinola Resturant if you like special Italian sea food, little bit expensive but nice

"Horrible Stay! Great location thats it!"
latif10423, 18 Juillet 2016

Lets begin with I was having trouble finding the designated parking garage, so I called the front desk twice asking for help. The first time, Paul was helpful and the second time he hung up while I was trying to explain to him where I was. Then when I got to the hotel, there was no mention of me being a Diamond member, receiving a welcome gift or room upgrade, or anything. He seemed as if he was very annoyed with his job. I did forget to add a crib to one of my reservations (I had a total of 3) and asked if I can get a crib that night, and was told housekeeping is not in so I cannot receive one until the next morning. I was very disappointed in the fact that a front desk associate could not run and get us one, keeping in mind when I asked there were two front desk associates up there. The mattress in the rooms are terrible. Its almost as if they just want you to stay one night and leave. Breakfast was decent the first day, then I'm not sure who made it but we chose not eat because the eggs looked like soup. That says a lot when id rather eat at McDonalds then to eat when I already paid for breakfast at hotel. Room size was small but that is common in Europe. The location to the aquarium and touristic sites, restaurants are outstanding! That's why I believe they don't value customer service, because they know people will stay there regardless because of location. I will never stay at this Best Western EVER again!! At some point the location doesn't mean anything compared to the horrible service we got.

"Great location and quite-peaceful rest"
tp2487, 15 Juillet 2016

Could not ask for better location in the historic area of Genova. Highly recommend this as a place to stay whilst exploring Genova! Quite street with limited auto traffic, wonderful little piazza for relaxing just outside the doors of the hotel.

"Good value"
Susan D, 05 Juillet 2016

The staff was friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Not only did they provide me with a map, but drew out a walking map for an hour long sight-seeing tour around some of the main sites. My rooms was indeed spotless and the interior facing rooms are super-quiet. The hotel is approx.15 mins from the train station on foot, so if you have little luggage, arrive in the day-time and have a good map, I would recommend that over taking a taxi since mine went the long way round and cost a whooping $12 euro.

"Hotel Porto Antico is a gem"
Manon R, 17 Juin 2016

The hotel provides excellent service, superior location, and well-priced excellent breakfast. The staff provided a map and informed advice on exploring the city and restaurant choices. The room was comfortable, with all the necessary amenities. We would return for a longer stay at the first opportunity.

"Perfect except for the noise"
Samantha R, 27 Mai 2016

The staff were fantastic, the room was a decent size, spotlessly clean, with tea and coffee (but no milk), a TV, toiletries, all you'd expect really, the only fault was down to the way the hotel was built. The rooms and corridors are not carpeted, which is obviously great for cleanliness, but footsteps and voices reverberate around the building making is difficult to sleep. Additionally, a water pipe was located in the wall somewhere near the bed, so when the bathroom was used upstairs there was a very loud gushing noise which also made it difficult to sleep. However, this is not the fault of how the place is run and I would stay again - just bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper!

"peccato"
andrewsin55, 13 Mai 2016

I agree with those reported by other users. Staff inattentive and not very clear in the explanations. comfortable room with good service and cleanliness. sin. Try to improve for the future ... may be..

"Clean and affordable"
Bruno D, 03 Mai 2016

Location is ideal: Really close to everything, silent enough (in an alley). Prices in line with Best Western Quality, Room was really clean and nice. The only negative is that breakfast was not included: considering the overall cost of the room, 3 euros for the breakfast is nothing.

"Probably the best reasonably priced hotel I have ever experienced."
Manxieal, 26 Avril 2016

Spotlessly clean everywhere. Fantastic location close to shops, restaurants, harbour and local attractions. Extremely pleasant and helpful staff, reception is a joy. Breakfast buffet has a great selection of breads & rolls, juices, cereals, cold meats and cheese and hot items. If you can request room 805. It is large roomy and beautiful with floor to ceiling double glass doors on 2 sides opening on to a large balcony. Like being in a Roman villa!! There is some street noise but you are in the Porto Antico after all!!

"One of the best hotels ever!"
Lori S, 25 Avril 2016

We recently stayed at the Best Western in Porto Antico, Genoa tor two nights. One upon our arrival to Genoa awaiting our cruise ship and on the last night before heading home from the cruise. Both times our stay was excellent. The staff are wonderful and very pleasant and helpful. Both times we arrived early morning and they accommodated us with an early check in to our room. This was extremely helpful when we had flown overnight from Canada and were very tired. I can honestly say I have never staying in a cleaner hotel, anywhere, even the lobby washroom was spotless. And what was very impressive was that they cater to woman travelling on their own as well. I have never seen that before. Well done. The breakfast buffet was very generous with lots of selection. I would highly, highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Genoa. It is perfectly situated in Porto Antico with lots of shops and restaurant very close by and a short walk to the waterfront. Sorry we had to leave! But if we ever travel back to Genoa, there will be no question as to where we will stay.

"Outstanding Accomodation"
wbj308, 23 Mars 2016

Excellent location, Beautiful room, fantastic staff, perfectly clean. Staff were extremely helpful, Breakfast was excellent. This hotel is in an excellent location ion the historic part of Genoa. Located close to many bars, restaurants and shops. we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

"no good hotel"
rtom88201, 05 Mars 2016

Clean but poor hotel, no view noise and poor breakfast. I've stayed in the past in many other hotel of this chain but they were much more better. NO green procedudure in reality. You have to improve for the future

"Genoa"
Diana E, 04 Janvier 2016

The hotel is nice but the parking is far and expensive. The breakfast was big with bacon and eggs and the rest. Did not have a balcony to smoke. The room and bathroom was very very very small for 4 persons. This is the only city in Italy where I did not felt 100% save walking around at night. The old boat in the harbour was nice to see but after Rome and Siena and all the rest the sightseeing in Genoa is not wow. According to me this is not a must see in Italy

"Quality Stay..."
yahooholidays, 03 Janvier 2016

Nice hotel in a great location. Convenient to the rail station, city and cruise terminal - all within 5-10 minutes walk. Room was clean, modern and spacious. It had comfortable beds and pillows, a big safe, TV and good fast wifi. We stayed in a top floor, family room with bunk beds for the kids. We all got a good night's sleep. Lift is small but fast... wasn't a problem Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was a good quality buffet which was kept replenished. Overall, a great stay and was value for money. Will stay there again.

"Nice rooms and locations"
Manamaeva, 27 Décembre 2015

We liked the location and rooms but didn't give 5 stars because the parking was very far away and very expensive. The showers was leaking and splashing a lot. Breakfast was one of the best one we had in Italy. If you can get good rates from hotels.com, you should definitely book it.

"Stunning stay in Genoa"
Maryna R, 21 Décembre 2015

We stopped off in Genoa for a few days before our cruise. We booked and breakfast was included which was awesome. We also had the delight of a ladies room booked which included a salon dryer as well as flatiron. The room was on the 8th floor which was the top floor. We had a huge balcony with street view. Rooms very clean and very well maintained. The hotel staff were stunning as well and all fluent in English. They also gave good direction. They also assisted with organizing taxi for us to get to the port. They overall service was outstanding and we will be going their very soon again. The price is also very reasonable and with breakfast included it's definitely great value.

"good comunication excellent location"
ampone11, 22 Novembre 2015

location: the best i8n genova, close to everything... Personnel, excellent to help you. Have a close parking what is extremely useful! The amenities are fine, the breakfast was excellent, even for kids.

"Close to the harbor, old city and Aquarium"
Mihai1978, 28 Octobre 2015

Plus: Very well located. We strolled through the old town by foot from the hotel. Very close to the Porto Antico area, the Aquarium and the old ship replica. Large double bed, large room, good breakfast. Minus: No parking at the hotel and on a street with restricted traffic. I sent an email asking for directions but no reply received. Took us about 30 minutes to figure out where to park, about 200m from the hotel (Porto Antico Marina).

"Great location"
sukhisandhu2015, 26 Octobre 2015

The hotel was in a fantastic location. We arrived by car, but this was no problem as they had a private gated garage for guests. This did come at a charge of €18, but this was the same price as the public car park which was of equal distance. And you also get an allocated spot which is yours no matter if you come or go. The service at check in was very friendly and our language barrier was no problem! The room was pleasant. Our room felt a little small, but we were out most of the day so this wasn't a problem. We had a balcony which overlooked the street the hotel was on, and the air con in the room was fantastic, which was great for the hot weather we had. The location was a perfect middle ground for the port, the old town and the palazzos. Once we parked the car, we walked everywhere.

"Great location n value"
Peg30, 23 Octobre 2015

Booked for two nights before we go hop onto our cruise. Hotel location is good, close to nearly everything, lots of restaurants, bars, shopping within walking distance. Continental breakfast as good, even served scramble eggs, plentiful of choices. The rooms are small, but space was sufficient for two, bathroom is well laid out. The rooms are very clean, staff at reception are very helpful and friendly. The restaurants around are well priced. One word of advise, because of the location of the hotel in one of the old town lanes, the taxi had to go right around to get to front of the hotel, and seriously if you are confident enough and want to save about 10 Euro, stop outside the aquarium, the hotel lane is right across the main road(crossing avail as well).

"Comfortable hotel"
Steve and Jenny... H, 18 Octobre 2015

Good location close to the old port and the historical centre. Helpful friendly staff. We had booked a taxi for our return to the airport but the driver phoned the hotel to say he was ill. They called for another taxi that arrived in less than 5 minutes. Wifi is better in reception than in the rooms but that is normal with most hotels. Breakfast was OK but they could replenish the cold cuts more often at busy times.

"Great location, and good value for money"
RolfR846, 12 Octobre 2015

We stayed one night in a family room for 4 people. This was a regular size room with a sofa converted to a bunk bed in addition to a king size bed. This worked surprisingly well and we slept soundly. The main attractions of this hotel are a decent breakfast, a clean room, a low price, and a very central location. We could easily walk to all the main sights in central Genova including the Aquarium, and could choose from any number of bars and restaurants. We also took advantage of the private parking, but I would not recommend this to anyone with anything bigger than a Fiat 500. Great for staying centrally in Genova for a reasonable cost if you don't plan to spend a lot of time in your room.

"Great value. "
Vito L, 07 Octobre 2015

Great value. Clean, reasonably quiet, modern, comfortable, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I would gladly stay here again. Centrally located well priced. Bed was firm and sheets were soft. Bathroom even had a heated rack to dry towels and laundry.

"Good value"
KarenM1_10, 26 Septembre 2015

We stayed here one night since we booked a tour of Cinque Terre. The room was small as well as the elevators. The breakfast was good and there are a number of restaurants around the hotel for dinner. Be on guard for pick pockets. We noticed some suspicious characters in the area, which is why we ate dinner across the street from the hotel.

"Best Western Genoa-Porto Antico"
Mary G, 12 Septembre 2015

This hotel was in a great spot! Very close to the train station (5-10 minute cab ride) and across the street from the water. It was very near the Aquarium. There are many restaurants and shops right out the door. This hotel is in the charming tiny streets of Genoa. The lobby is clean and bright, the staff very helpful. The breakfast was good and there were plenty of choices. The room was great, we had a family room which had a good sized bed for 2 and a set of children's bunk beds. The Elevator was very small, only about 4 adults could squish in the lift at one time.

"Good clean hotel"
rachel f, 03 Septembre 2015

Stayed for 1night , nice big comfortable bed room and hotel spotless .staff very helpful ,provided a map and highlighted a very interesting walk around the lovely old town . Breakfast excellent with plenty of variety

"nice hotel but pick your room"
ParisBebert, 13 Août 2015

very nice hotel, refurbished so all is new Standard italian but Good breakfast. Very friendly staff, very helpful Only drawback : avoid a room giving over the street as it s noisy up till midnight with pedestraian traffic and customers eating in the Soho restaurant (actually good) Even if double window, the narrow alley amplifies the noise I would go back. i paid 83€/night with 2 months advance booking 10 min walk to the station, if you plan to visit the riviera Small drawback: wifi is cut from time to time
