-this hotel was very good value for money -decent breakfast -clean rooms and everything works well -we had a room that overlooks the river and the view was stunning (good location in general, convenient) -wonderful effort on the part of the hotel to make eco-choices (real cutlery and plates for breakfast, some items in larger less-packaging formats, bathroom products in wall-mounted squeeze bottles) - this makes me very happy -kind and helpful staff

We stayed for two nights in a suite so that our teen could have their own bedroom and us parents had privacy. The hotel is clean and updated. The staff are very friendly and bi-lingual. A full hot breakfast is included in the room rate, and if you are a Best Western Plus member (which costs nothing to join and helps you earn free stays), then there is no additional charge for parking. There are four parking lots, once being underground. The parking does fill up but we were always accommodated. We stayed at this hotel to take in Winterlude in Ottawa. It is a 10 minute drive from the hotel, and Jacques Cartier Park, where many of the events take place, is located directly across the street from the hotel. I would stay at this hotel again.

Our family stayed at the Best Western Gatineau over the Family Day weekend in February 2024. The hotel is located in Gatineau - just across the river from Ottawa. It is about 10 stories tall, and our room had a wonderful view over the river. Ottawa is easily accessible by either a fifteen minute walk across a nearby bridge or by car. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable, and it was nice not to have to worry about breakfast - since a buffet breakfast was included each morning with our stay. I had the most amazing hotel experience after staying at the Best Western Hotel Plus in Gatineau Quebec for 1 1/2 months, after I had to leave my home duebto water damage. I felt like I was in paradise there! The hotel and amenities are amazing and so are the staff, they were so friendly and helpfull! The continental breakfast was delicious! The room and hotel was impeccable! I loved the pool and the gym too! I had a room with the kitchenette, with an amazing view as well! I give it a 5 star review. I could not have asked for more it was such an amazing experience!!!

We've stayed here twice now as it is walking distance to the Snowflake Kingdom of Winterlude. The rooms are a little dated but clean and the continental breakfast is handy when you have young kids. We liked having a balcony to see the parliament buildings as well.

Hockey teams were staying here filling up the hallways, lounge, and elevator. Extremely loud and the hotel did nothing to control this. Being on one of the top floors with kids, we were not able to just walk up to our room. So we had to wait sometimes 10 minutes for the elevator. At one point, my 3 year old was centimetres away from getting hit with hockey equipment because the other guests were filling the elevators over the maximum. We also had to wait for breakfast because it was so packed with the hockey families, and had no access to the pool as it was packed. There was hot chocolate spilled in the elevator, the coffee machine was broken, and it was extremely loud at all hours. We feel we had no access to any of the amenities. We were there to experience the city and Winterlude, but feel like we were not a priority.. I feel bad for the staff who had to clean up after the chaos. The cleaning staff work hard, as well as the breakfast area staff. The staff at the front desk were polite, but not knowledgeable about Winterlude. If you are a sponsored Winterlude hotel, you should have some information. The hotel is also in a sketchy area, with beer bottles outside and parking is limited. Also, watch out for tickets if you have Ontario plates!

Hotel is in a very convenient location across the river from Parliament Hill. Staffs are friendly and helpful. short walk to museums and other attractions. Riverside room has a great view of Parliament Hill. Breakfast is also included. My family enjoyed the stay here.

Hotel is in a good location, clean and friendly staff. Breakfast very good for price I was travelling for work from BC family tagged along stayed 5 nights Tuesday- Sunday everything good until Thursday night! The hockey team checked in! What a disaster teenagers and parents running wild ridiculous no respect for anyone. Brampton Hockey is an absolute disgrace you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

The Best Western in Gatineau offers you the best of both worlds in that you have at your very close proximity, all that Ottawa and Gatineau have to offer. You are litterly just across the bridge from downtown Ottawa, and have a wide range of res tuarants and bars on either side. The hotel itself is clean, the staff are very helpful in either English or French, and the rooms have a newly renovated geel to them. It is my go to place whenever I come to visit my son in Ottawa.

Excellent location, the hotel is in a walking distance close to many amenities and far enough to be away to experience beautiful views and the landscape or to practice different activities !! Parking and breakfast was included in my stay.

Upon check-in the do-not-disturb sign was left on door, upon entering the room it was obvious that it had not been cleaned as there was garbage in all pails, bed was unmade, towels in bathroom on floor.

Second time staying at this hotel after a first disastrous stay. They gave me a discount on this room as a result, I upgraded to water view to see the beautiful view. Window was too dirty to have any sort of view. Lobby was so loud we were unable to hear and understand the receptionist. Our room was directly across from the elevator so we barely slept as a result of the constant noise of suitcases and voices all night. Inside the room was incredibly basic, no tissue, tv instructions/guide, shower products had not been refilled so only one of us was able to shower. Only small bar of square hand soap. Bed was comfy enough. In the morning breakfast was only available until 9, and no options for take out such as spoons or forks. We used a drink cup to get eggs and potatoes real quick before they closed up. I thought the location was great and free parking (albeit in a sketchy parking lot down the street). Unfortunately this is the second time I've tried to like it and my expectations are super low. If price is the most important over comfort and noise - it's fine.

While the room was clean and there were some staff who understood what it takes to work in the hospitality field, the overall impression with which we were left is that we were undesirables, and they were doing us a favour by allowing us to stay in their building. Good proximity to Ottawa, if you can deal with the roads and traffic, horrible parking, uninspired breakfasts, pathetic elevators. Do not recommend

Nice place, however parking is limited and since we spent only one night it is difficult to assess the surroundings. At the time of our stay there was a lot of construction which caused delays for us.

Just spent two nights at this hotel. The hotel is in a great location with easy access to Ottawa and all attractions. Rooms are dated, not very clean. Very few amenities in room. We had a terrible experience. On our first day after coming back after a long day of site seeing we wanted to shower and rest up before going to dinner. Our room had not been cleaned and towels were not changed. I called down to reception and was rudely advised that the hotel only cleaned rooms every three days and that was hotel policy. WHAT? No where does it say this and what kind of a policy is that. Of course no support from management and we were dismissed. DO NOT STAY HERE!! BREAKFAST was dirty, poorly maintained and over crowded. Would never stat there again.

On the upside, this hotel offers an ideal location for anyone interested in visiting the Greater-Ottawa and Gatineau area. All hotel staff were welcoming and helpful. We were able to leave the bikes in a secure inside location between rides. We were able to charge our electric car using one of the 110V outlets in the indoor parking - looking forward to more efficient level 2 stations. Breakfast is included and quite acceptable. The overall price/quality ratio was excellent. On the improvement side: the hot water took about 3 minutes to reach our shower on the top floor. The elevators are not exactly catapults - patience is of the essence! the bathroom was extremely small, 35 sq.ft. and with the open open door takes half the free space - there was ample free space in our room to accommodate an expansion during the next renovation round.

Good hotel with half price for Ottawa hotel in 3 min car access to Ottawa down town 4 parking (if you car less than 1.8m you can use underground parking with access to elevator) so-so breakfast avalible

It was a great stay. The hotel went above and beyond for my daughters 18th bday. It was close to everything that we wanted to do. Beds were comfy, the room was great with a great view from our balcony. Highly recommend this hotel.

This was a 1 star cheap motel at best. Filthy place super dated and run down Elevator dirty Stairwell even worse Carper stained Room corners and behind desk dirty Had 9 rooms booked for 25 days for me and my employees after the first hour we checked out and moved hotels.

Hotel is easy to reach from Ontario or Quebec. Rooms are clean and well supplied with pleasantly scented toiletries. Pool is clean and, while indoor, is enclosed in a glass walled room for lots of natural light. The breakfast is delicious with hot and cold items, cereals, muffins,fruits, tea and coffee-it will set you up for a day of sightseeing or travel.

Directly across Alexandra Bridge. Easy to reach by Rideau Centre O-Train station. Walk across bridge for scenic views, may be hard in winter months. I had balcony room with river view overlooking Parliament Hill. Amazing views of Alexandra Bridge and Parliament hill day or night. Mine was a corner room so bathroom had own window overlooking residential streets. No free water bottles but fridge. Good breakfast, convenience store is across street and restaurants nearby. Would be nice to have seating on balcony and past guests had been smoking. Double sided walls on balcony for privacy. I had planned to use a pool but it was a pain. Even though it is on ground floor just off lobby you have to take the elevator to the floor above and take the stairs up and down. I would easily stay here again or recommend.

Poor customer service, broken ac needed maintenance. No pre room inspections, blow dryer don't work and parking is a pain. Breakfast was adequate but couldve had a better variety. Coffee machine in lobby needed milk so most of the good drinks can't be made. Felt like we overpaid for what we got. Two nights and no room service and hotel need to make sure everyone is bilingual because not everyone visiting can speak French.

Although we ere at the lobby before check-out time and I was adamant not to charge me extra, I was charged a late check-out fee of $20.00 plus fees while trying to resolve a dispute right in the lobby. The supervisor (Yvette) is a scam artist.

We came to town for a festival on the Ottawa side and chose this hotel because was a lot cheaper than the ottawa side, rooms were clean beds comfortable common areas dirty , most of parking was off site lots the breakfast was great lots of choices

Helpful staff and could walk to many Ottawa museums canal tours and parliament hill . Perfect location to find restaurants that again we could walk to. Rooms clean large and the breakfast was hot and good variety.

I found the Hotel to be a 3 Star hotel. The Staff made it a Five Star Hotel. The location was perfect to conveniently access downtown Ottawa. I upgraded my room to get the best view . Downtown Ottawa and museums are a 15 minute walk from the Hotel. We walked minutes to the bridge and had a great view of the Canada Day fireworks. I recommend the hotel.

this well located hotel offer comfort and convenience to explore all the major sites of Ottawa, a simple walk over the bridge where you get awesome waterfront views is well worth it. We walked to Sparks st, National gallery, Rideau center, parliament buildings, and the Byward market all a few minutes away. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, a typical hot breakfast with plenty of seating. we had a room with a view and very worth the extra cost, we were there in February and was 15 minute drive to Gatineau park for the skiing and snowshoeing.

We stayed for the one night night, but it was a good one, the staff was super friendly when we arrived, and made checking in easy. We had a river view room and had such a good sleep ! Breakfast was good, everything we needed. we will stay again next time we visit Ottawa. Thank you!

Staff were friendly and the room was well appointed and very clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable. Breakfast options will not disappoint and the food quality was very good. Overall I was very happy with my stay.

Overall a great stay, not the fanciest hotel you'll be at, but they covered everything that was needed and provided a nice breakfast and solid internet. The location is good if you live anywhere in Hull or downtown Ottawa, however it might be a bit more difficult if you need to go elsewhere in the city.

We were in the area with our hockey team for a weekend tournament. The staf was extremely accomodating. The kids and the parents were well welcomed and we all had an unforgettable experience. Looking forward for the next.

2 months ago The hotel is clean, reasonably priced and location is fantastic, I booked a Riverview with balcony overlooking Parliament . Not fancy but is clean and comfortable. Breakfast is NOT included which is rare for Best Western Plus. Big bonus is they have parking out back for RVs . We just came from 3 weeks camping in Quebec and had a trailer. Staff all friendly . Will definitely stay again as we go thru Ottawa once or twice a year

This hotel needs a lot of care. Garbage in lot in front of hotel not picked up just flying around. Hotel lobby carpet is very stained. This should have told us not to have high expectations on our room. We were on the Executive Level with a river view. Only problem window was to dirty to see much of river. Box frame on bed was at least 4 inches bigger than mattress. Dresser had missing handles. Roomed cleaned in middle I guess no expectations to do corners. Just a place to land for 2 nights. Not again!

Great experience, check-in was quick so was check-out. Every time i go to ottawa for business i stay at this hotel. Friendly staff member, Marc was very polite and helpful. Would recommend, location is perfect for anyone wanting to access the city center.

We were happy to book this hotel because of the great location. We booked specifically a room with a balcony but were surprised to find cigarette butts there. Moreover, the carpet and the room had a distinctive smell, as if someone had smoked in the room for a long time. Our pyjamas still had an unpleasant scent when we came back home. Another unpleasant surprise was when reception told us that breakfast was from 7 am to 10 am, but when we arrived around 9:20ish, we were told by the staff that it was until 9 am. Luckily we found an excellent breakfast place not far from the hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in early October. First impression wasn't good as there was no porterage for a mid-size tour party. However, first impression of the room was favourable, decent size, comfortable beds, quiet location. That was until the bugs started crawling around; on and in my wife's bed, and a third appearance on mine, just after I'd offered to swap beds for hers. A quick trip to reception with the aforementioned third bug, and a quick room change was made by reception, who were apologetic. However, the fun really began next morning in the "dining room", which looked to me very much like a function room set with black table cloths on large circular tables. Even better was the disposable black plastic cutlery and plates available on both mornings of our stay. No bar, and precious little in the way of local dining options. By far the worst hotel I have ever experienced; so unfortunate for Best Western who have a better name than this hotel deserves.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The hotel was kind of dated, The size of the room was good but the bathroom was small. During our stay, there was no house keeping service. No one came to clean up the room, made the beds and changed the towels. The swimming pool is located at an awkward area, not very convenient for the guests. Front desk staffs service was just average. River view and close to downtown Ottawa are the only good things about this hotel.

I booked 3 rooms as I took my associates to Spa Nordik. We checked in late at night and it was seamless, staff was friendly, lobby looks wonderful. The rest of the hotel though, at least the seventh floor needs updating and repairs. More effort needed to be put on cleaning, very disappointed of the cleanliness of two of my three rooms. Every other BW I stayed at had breakfast included, here there is a $15 charge for a continental breakfast. You can spend about $15 elsewhere and get a full breakfast with bottomless coffee. All I wanted in the morning was a fresh coffee, I did not want to spend an additional $90 for myself and associates just for coffee. I was willing to pay for the coffee but was told “it was not an option.” Really folks? I think the owner, manager, and BW chain should be embarrassed about this. $220 for each room, and I was not able to buy a coffee, in fact a multi million dollar business like BW should've just given me one. embarrassing

Worst Hotel I have seen in my life. I feel bad this Hotel is belongs to Best Western Company because I am a Best Western member and I had tried a few Best Western plus Hotel and they were very good but this one was a big shock for me and my Family.

An excellent hotel in the heart of the city! It's located downtown very close to Ottawa! It's not too big of a hotel, but they have all of the amenities of any other hotel including food, great service and friendly staff. The rooms are well equipped and spacious. The view from my room was great also. I will definitely stay here again.

My stay was good. Nothing fancy about this hotel. I was surprised parking was an additional cost, and not included. I also was surprised breakfast was another additional cost. And it was fairly expensive. However there isn't much in the immediate area for breakfast...

A very expensive hotel which is not as clean as other. Front desk personnel's are rude. Need to pay for breakfast and parking. Lots of power extension cord run inside the rooms as outlet doesn't work.

I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights. The rate was 169$ a night, meaning it should have been $338 plus tax. However, my total came to 450$. We called the hotel and they said that you get charged double tax for staying in a hotel in Quebec. This is absolutely ridiculous and we would not have stayed there if we had known. You would be better off staying in a nicer hotel across the border in Ottawa where you don't get charged up the a** for tax. This is something that was not disclosed to us upon booking and we discovered after arriving home. I am not happy with the customer service provided by the employee at this location or the lack of transparency from this establishment. The hotel itself was okay, but not worth the money they charge.

Terrible service. Front desk people and manager don't care about the guests. If you are looking to relax don't stay at the hotel. They offer me free late check out and on my bill they charged me and manager didn't care about my complain.

Staff were very kind. We only spoke English and they spoke English no problem. Helped with what we needed and gave directions. Also, very cheap, great value. Room entrance was down a cramped hallway. Bathroom window was open and had lots of bugs. Bedroom area was clean and bedding was clean. Air conditioning worked great. Only one elevator was working when we arrived so the delay was quite long. Overall not bad. Would stay again.

Old furnitures, not very clean rooms, poor gym equipment, poor air quality in pool area, very noisy air conditioning in room, very noisy air ventilation in bathroom, blocked drain in bathtub. The employees were very polite though. In a very poor area; abandoned houses, etc.

We stayed one night at this hotel. The receptionist was really friendly, the room was clean and the location was good but the rooms were rather small, the AC was noisy and for some reason there was no shampoo in the bathroom. Other than that, everything was okay.

Best part of this Hotel its a 25 min walk to Parliament and By Town ,the beds were nice and it was quiet ,it was not up to Best Western standards some of the things in the room did not work ,the elevator was slow ,you have to pay for parking at the hotel its not included in the price of the hotel . It has no EV charging stations .

Hotel needs updating. Breakfast hours too limited 7 - 9 am. Access to the pool is ridiculous requiring the use of 5 flights of stairs (1.5 floors). Only 1 of 2 lifts operating however maybe outside the control of the hotel.

Very old hotel. Very small room. Room carpet is dirty. Room climate control (air conditioning) is not working. TV set is not working. Breakfast not included, parking fees. Parking lots very small, elevators, very old and very slow, wait lines many often. Difficult to reach room with you're luggage.

Horror night! At 17 o'clock we entered the room.TV broke and airco was hot! Impossible to cool down…thee times I called the reception. At midnight a manager Came and said that they couldn't do anything for now!? Wait till Tomorrow…. We could'nt sleep. The pool opens @9!? Too late! I hate this place.

Unbelievable for a 4 star hotel. Ugly smell in the bedroom, airco which doesn't work, a lot of noice from the airco unit outside, overall not clean and dirty carpet. Bar was not open and not available. Location is ok but prefer to be more in the center of the city. No recommendation. In Europe it will be more a 2 star hotel.

Charged twice for a 6 day stay. Hotel was made aware of me charged twice for my stay at checkout, they did a credit for the first overcharge that also charged me a higher rate than the reservation. When I got home the credit had been removed. So the Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Downtown has knowingly and intentionally overcharged me over a thousand dollars. The view is nice, location is fine. You chance of being let down by the billing experience is very high and will negate any positive experience you may have if you are lucky. Cannot catch UBER from the hotel as well as Uber does not operate from that location. Will have Taxi's refuse to go across either from Quebec to Ontario or Ontario to Quebec-across the river. If your primary destination is Ottawa, you are better off staying in Ottawa. I do not recommend this hotel and until my money is returned Best Western Plus.

Check in was 4pm. We had to wait in the lobby until 6pm for our room to be ready. We then didn't get the room view we paid for. When we brought this up, we were told there were no other rooms available. Swimming pool is in need of repairs as well.

The hotel was ok, A little pricey ...however once we got there, we were advised that there was a $15 parking fee... and parking wasn't even on site as their tiny lot was full.... the parking garage under the hotel did have spots, but the door allowing you to enter was broken,,, so that was a whole other experience getting in. The hotel is old, but mostly clean.... our room stunk of stale urine, but because we needed an early check in (for a wedding) we had to take what was available(even though we had been told we were ok'd for early checkin, no room was flagged for us)... the rusty pipes above our bed head in our room, covering the electrical to the smoke alarm was a little disgusting too... other than that and the ancient elevators... the hotel was ok... no breakfast included unless you wanted to pay $15/person.... but the staff was extremely lovely and as helpful as they could be.

After a 3 year hiatus of no planes, no hotels, no trips, no travel thanks to surgeries and COVID..... I, Southcoaster, am finally back on the road exploring, enjoying life and passing along my experiences on TripAdvisor again! Although my past travels have mostly consisted of the United States, my husband and I signed up for a long weekend trip to the Canadian Tulip Festival in Ottawa. The tour company we traveled with chose the Best Western Plus in Gatineau for our accommodations throughout , and they certainly made a solid choice. The room, 133, had two double beds and was clean and well decorated. In fact, when we went to the National Gallery of Canada (a can't miss Ottawa attraction), my husband pointed out that the museum ceiling was our wall print. The water temperature was perfect, and I appreciated that the hotel still provided small shampoos and conditioner, especially since the travel industry took an economic beating thanks to the pandemic. I also want to point out that a cheerleading squad was staying on the property at the same time-some on my floor-and I did not hear any noise that was exceptionally loud or disruptive. The lobby also had plenty of places for guests to sit, which worked out well for our group when meeting for various events. A daily hot breakfast was included with our stay and it did not disappoint. Menu items included sausage, scrambled eggs, hash brown potatoes, bacon, yogurt, fruit, cereal, individually wrapped pastries and croissants, toast, juice, milk, water and coffee/tea. I also appreciated the ticket system the hotel used to keep track of breakfast patrons and to ensure said patrons were actually hotel guests. I had never seen it used before in any breakfast-included property I stayed at-great idea! The front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. I was starting to get a headache due to the unseasonly 90 degree temperatures and a very kind male employee behind the desk was able to give me two cold and sinus pills (which include acetaminophen) upon request, which helped ward off any symptoms and allowed me to enjoy my day in Ottawa. All in all, the tour company made an excellent choice when picking this hotel. If I were heading back to Ottawa any time soon, I would certainly place this property at the top of my list for places to stay!

This is not a great hotel. There is minimal on-site parking and I had to travel 2 blocks behind the hotel to park. There is no complimentary breakfast. Pool is open to passers by. Find a different hotel.

Hotel was very clean. Friendly bilingual staff. Parking was rough. Was costly at 180/night for 2 double beds tho. We were there for hockey and appreciated having a block of rooms. Overall great hotel and service

I had a good stay in the hotel with my family. The staff was warm and pleasant and the breakfast was good with enough items on the lineup. The location is downtown and excellent. It's also close to the airport.

The hotel was clean and locates close to the Byward Market and the Parliament Building. I would have completely enjoyed my stay had it not been for the fact the power was out immediately upon checking into my room. I was not told at the time of check-in. We could not use the Wifi, TV, telephone or even the elevator.

The booking process is simple. The staff team is courteaous and friendly. The On-Site Services are perfect: I liked the breakfast that has a variety of excellent food and drinks. The lobby is very social, even though I didn't bring friends in.

The entire staff was friendly. And the view of the river and parliament buildings were awesome.Due to our schedule we were unable to dine in for breakfast. The pool was clean and warm.I would and will go there again.

For a one night stay, it's all good. But i have to say that the room needed a bit of TLC. The lady at the reception was not courteous and i was charged 15$ for using the outside parking place. A first time ever i was charged for that and i wasn't mentionned that when i reserved. It kind of increases the bill.

I was traveling across Canada from Vancouver to Ottawa by the time i got to Ottawa i was desperately in need a good quiet place to use the computer not to mention some well needed rest. This location came to my rescue this place was well equipped with all the things i need, including internet access computer room with a printer. Just a home away from home with the perfect office. Great location close to the Hwy

Clean room, good locatio, near Civilzation Museum. However, the mask mandate was not enforced. Very disappointing. I think that the staff was overwhelmed by guests defying the mandate. Friendly staff.

All the staff were so sweet and accommodating and beautiful people. The room was so clean and I had the best view of the Ottawa river and capitsl and Parliament buildings. Was quiet. Breakfast was healthy and beautifuly displayed. Best of all was the young and friendly staff.

I really enjoyed this hotel - the check in service was quick and very friendly. I was upgraded to a beautiful room on the 9th floor (Executive Floor) overlooking the Ottawa River and the Parliament Buildings - WOW! Stunning views. It was quiet location. Parking was limited but the hotel was not too busy when I was there so I had no issues finding a spot. The rooms were clean, modern and beds were super comfy. I am definitely going to book this location again soon. Wifi was very reliable. Great location!

Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Is such a nice place with nice staff, I really enjoyed my stay there, the breakfast is amazing the view is very nice , the hotel is very clean , I recommend this hotel for anyone wants to have a relaxing stay in a hotel, location is excellent also

I travel a lot and this is now my new favourite BW. The view of the water and Parliament is breathtaking. The staff is wonderful, from the front staff to the kind man who helped me with my tv remote. There was some noise on a Saturday night but the front desk handled it, Thank you. The breakfast was nutritious and yummy :) I love the exercise room and pool too. the best part is the great sleep I am getting on the comfy beds and during a full moon when I normally don't get much sleep haha Thank you Natali for being so kind and helpful during my stay...your eyes smile behind your mask and I love that!! :) See you again Soon!!!

Enjoyed my stay at the best western. It was clean and quiet and the service was quick. The breakfast was great and had lots of variety, breakfast sandwich, croissants, juices, coffee and tea. The check out was quick and easy too.

This hotel in particular is very strategically placed just a bridge away from the main downtown of Ottawa . Very spacious rooms and adequate breakfast . The front desk staff Natali is very very helpful , kind and pleasing with her personality . She has been the highlight of our stay .

What a disappointing and terrible experience. My husband and I had our first night away from our kids in over a year. The floor we were put on had a large group of local college students that partied (loudly) in the hallway outside the room from 11pm till about 2:45am. At any given time there were between 6-12 people in the hallway, drinking and shouting. Security did not come once, despite the fact I am sure there are cameras throughout the hotel and security should be doing rounds as well. This was a complete waste of money as we had an absolutely terrible night.

Amazing customer service, great room with beautiful view of Parliament and free breakfast and parking. $10 taxi ride to downtown Ottawa. Didn't use the pool because it seemed busy. Front desk was good about providing a discount for a frontline worker.

had a bit of smell in the room, pool really cold and not the best set up to get to it with young children. Had to go up and down flights of stairs, dangerous when wet leaving pool. Covid protocols in place as well and sign up for a time.

Clean hotel. Quiet. Secure parking. Right across the road from a large park and overlooking the river and the capital. The suite was spacious with a comfortable king size bed. All amenities. We stayed 2 nights. Truly an excellent value.

Hotel is close from DT Ottawa and near many commodity's. very clean, decent breakfast include, gym, pool, convenience store 1 min walk, restaurant 5 min walk. Nice view of Ottawa and the river. Close to bridge to reach Ottawa

Driving across the country in 3 1/2 days my hotel reservations were not-with Best Western. That establishment (same family) struck out 3 times. My return trip accommodations will be with Best Western.

- ***large bathroom window*** - ~6 medium spiders next to balcony privacy door hanger pulled askew (at least 1 attempted or actual B&E then) - items in bag in zippered compartment in bag in luggage obvs shuffled after we had gotten ID pics @ the front desk —> at least 1 actual B&E then - toilet broke once - bathroom lights flickered one morning - screendoor lock was locked from the inside one morning (!) - TV service broke, but hotel tried to send maintenance terrorists to our room (b/c it's NOT the individual TV)! - one day, perpendicular doors on both sides were open w/ windows displaying us in the hall by our door - the towels we put in the hallway were NOT replaced w/ clean ones - the business centre is still Covid-closed - so-called continental brekky is packaged muffins - reservation debacle when we booked 1 additional night: altho we had 2 convos w/ front desk staff confirming a late chk-out after staying in the same room that night too, Manager Jerry knocked on our door a day early still obvs adorned w/ a DND door hanger inquiring about our chk-out date & time —> that's harassment, BWP - BUT @ least muffins were incl., & we were offered a microwave & plastic dishes, there was a mini-fridge w/ icebox, the doors were easy enough to wedge shut, the wifi worked, the elevator usually worked, there weren't noisemakers, the garbage we put in the hallway was usually emptied, & we got toiletries when we asked @ the front desk AND when we rocked to Subway Sandwicherie on night #1, G-town, QC (which doesn't have the ON Cons vaccine regime) closed the dining room for Covid. So we had to munch it @ the parking lot—as we have to sit outside @ ON!!

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was nice and clean. Excellent value for your money. River view was a nice bonus. Only negative was you had to pay for parking. Breakfast wasn't as good as usual,but sufficient considering Covid.

Hotel room was very clean and comfortably with a beautiful view of the Ottawa River and downtown Ottawa. The staff were all very helpful and friendly from providing bike storage for the night, restuarnt information in the area and getting cable TV repair. Our visit was for an urban biking vacation experience and the location of this hotel was ideal. Never moved the car for our 4 day visit,the bike trails are everywhere from the hotel's front door and lead to both sides of the river. Would absolutely recommend this hotel and look forward to returning!

The hotel was okay. Good location across river from parliament. The room they gave us was almost stuck in a corner. Don't quite know why. AND you pay extra for parking. $15 a night. Don't quite understand why. I guess I didn't see it in the fine print.

Hotel was clean. Staff were very friendly. Had an awesome view of the river and Parliament buildings. Bed was so comfortable. We had two double beds, wish they had two queens instead. But, the comfortable beds made up for it. Would definitely visit again.

Had a great stay at BW Gatineau/Ottawa hotel. The people at the reception desk were very helpful and awesome. We were very tired when we called to book a room and the man who answered helped us with directions over the phone. He was so helpful and nice. They were quick and courteous and answered all our questions. The room overlooked the city so we could see all the lights at night. It was very beautiful. The people at the front desk even helped us find a restaurant that would deliver us food to our door. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Didn't like having to pay for parking though. Thought this should be included in the price and way too many taxes added on at the end but there always is. Great hotel overall with a great breakfast in the morning.

We had a great stay. Had a room with the view of the Parliament buildings. Walking distance from the Canadian Museum of History and bridge to Ottawa. Hardly had to use our car. I would definitely stay here again.

Seeing prices on line for $125 My fault. I should have looked it up first. Some people don't have that convenience. However at that price I expect to see the typical microwave and ice bucket and of course a place to park. We arrived and the lot was full, hubby was still in the lot while I was checking in. I was given a map for parking off property but fortunately hubby found a spot. I'm a senior and on this day off property parking was not the best for us. So we took in the view for a few minutes but found it much more entertaining to watch the gong show of parking escapades and not in a good way. 7 motor cycles pulled in 4 parked in the one spot beside us. I still needed to get into the vehicle to pick up a couple of items. We'll I could barely get between. I'm small framed and still had to raise my arms and dust our vehicle with my o'l lady bust, I could barely get the door open wide enough to reach into the console. I went to the desk and was told to wait for another space and move the vehicle but the young lady did call her coworker on her mic. Moving the vehicle without hitting one of those bikes will be a two man show. The gong show continues. The biker dudes did do some manouvering. Still no access so we called a cab to go for dinner $40. At this point we are waiting to see if the vehicle gets keyed as they know I complained. Moral of the story, just because you paid your $15 bucks doesn't mean they supply you with a can opener or a neighbor that has a sense of common courtesy or a referee for that matter. Your on your own. I decided to suck up the $180 for the view before all of this and it is beautiful but when your so busy checking the safety of your car, the view becomes redundent. I can't wait to see the bill. I just want out safely with no keying or damages. I never write reviews and somehow I doubt very much I'll get a response but if it helps you people great. Advise to management 2 motorcycles max in one space, 4 is unacceptable

This hotel is well located to zip into Ottawa or into Parc de la Gatineau. If you take a balcony room make sure to be above the 3rd floor or you will not have a river view as stated in room description. Be prepared for noise on balcony from your airconditioner AND the room next door that has no balcony - very annoying! TV channel selection is basic; you must ask the front desk to print out any tickets you buy online if you do not have a smartphone (they very gladly do it). Breakfast offered is good. staff very friendly and helpful. Paying for parking is annoying ($18-indoor, $15-outside).

Disappointing dirty and stained carpets off, a half an inch gap between floor and door, imdescription for both customers and employees did not indicate that there is carpet (at reservation we were told there were none and that she could not join anyone at the front desk), sound proofing needing some love

This is our 4th stay at this hotel and once gain we were so impressed with their customer service! We brought our bikes with us and since we arrived early for our checkin, we decided to ask if we could check in at the time we arrived. Because we were Best Western members, she was very happy to accommodate us. She also made a point of bringing out a few different walking and bike maps of Gatineau and Ottawa and went over all the ‘hot spots' to enjoy! Location of this hotel is perfect for exploring the best of Gatineau and Ottawa!

the room was excellent in size with the separate living room to allow us to have our grandkids with us for an afternoon of relaxation and play. Disappointed the rate was not reduced as the pool and restaurant were not accessible. Room very clean and more than enough towels. Great staff during check in and checkout. Not enough elevators during checkout with lots of people trying to get access. People not respecting COVID restrictions and distances because elevators took a long time. People who were not Canadian insisted on getting on even though we told him no room with distance, totally disregarded of our wishes. The location is incredible, around the corner and walking distance of our son and grandkids, from an amazing park and museum, took a water taxi into and back from Ottawa. So close to everything you could need, restaurants in abundance and just outside the doors was a corner store for snacks, treats and alcohol. Will be back regularly to see family.

Very happy with our experience we went for a road trip and stay in Ottawa for two nights also my wife leave a hat in the room they save it for us in our way back we pick it up we will be coming back for sure.

This Best Western is located almost on the Ottawa River. It over looks a beautiful park and Marina with a great view of Parliament. If you need to be in Ottawa there are 3 bridges to quickly access the capital. You can easily take a walk over. OK enough about the location it's great. Staff is great they are fluent in both official languages and probably speak a few more. They are friendly and helpful with great local knowledge. We where there during COVID the cleaning staff is doing a great job. The room and common areas where super clean. The room was upto date we where lucky to have a river view ask for one. You can't beat a Best Western bed.

Staff was very kind Check out and check in were both really fast Indoor pool, there's a gym but couldn't go check it out. There's parking fees but there's alot of spots Only downside would be the breakfast option,maybe it's just because there's covid right now

Great hotel for a reasonable rate just across from Ottawa . Try and get a river view great view of Canada's Capital. Rooms are nice and the staff is outstanding speaking English only was not a problem clean and modern. Stay here .

We had a great stay at the hotel. My kids were so sad to leave. We were disappointed the pool was closed due to covid, but understand. The location of the hotel was in a nice area and great for walking or biking. We are just a quick 20 minute walk to the Byward Market in Ottawa. The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and informative. We would go back again when we go to Ottawa.

The room was very clean and spacious. I had a lovely view overlooking the Ottawa River and Parliament Hill. The room contain nice amenities including toiletries, fridge, TV, microwave etc. The staff were super friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was delicious.

We were greeted with warm and friendly smiles. The staff went over and above to accommodate our request. We arrived early and they were able to do early check in no problem even with COVID. They were able to gives us a great view with balcony which was a lovely surprise as we didnt expect a balcony. The room was clean and inviting. The view of parliament was amazing and to top it off the river! King size bed and a view of the city, you couldnt ask for more. It was a 10 min walk to the byward market, which was fantastic because we got to pass parliament on our way to downtown. Great visit regardless summer or winter. Cant wait to return, and see all the wonderful things the hotel has to offer as they are renovating.

Stayed at this hotel many years ago, but it has changed and not for the better. There is now a $15 charge to park in the outside lot, whereas every outside lot of BWs are free. There was very LOW occupancy, from the half-dozen cars I n noticed in the parking lot late that nite. I had requested if I could be upgraded, but was flatly denied. With such low occupancy, I was assigned one of the worst rooms, right in front of the elevator. The TV channels were mostlyl local and many in French. Do not expect ABC, CBS, NBC or CNN here. Breakfast was good with hot breakfast sandwiches.

I was pleasantly surprised at how conveniently located this hotel is! Only a few minutes from downtown Ottawa despite being on the Quebec side. The rooms were spotless and the staff very pleasant. I would certainly go back in better times.

Had some business that required an overnight stay in Ottawa. Was a little hesitant staying at a hotel during Covid-19 but I was pleasantly surprise how clean this hotel was. The staff and management went above and beyond to accommodate me without advance booking. The location is wonderful and so close to everything. Can't wait for the pandemic to be over to go back and enjoy some tourist venues close to this hotel. Thank you all the staff for the extra cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces!

Absolutely loved my stay at Best Western Plus Gatineau! It was my first stay in Ottawa! The location was great, the staff were accommodating, nice and helpful. Cleanness was very important to me in the current situation. It is a small and old hotel but it is very clean. Every corner you can find a hand sanitizer and you feel safe. Their policies for sanitizing complies with all COVID-19 regulations. The price is also affordable.

I was working in the area. This was the closest hotel to my work. But, I was glad I chose it. Anyone staying in the area should stay here. From check in to check out, nothing from professional courteous service.

Easy check in with mask requirement enforced. Rooms clean and well decorated. Our use of a BW gift card a little bit of a challenge but worked out. Location right across river from Parliament buildings and just a park block away from History & Science building, made our stay awesome, it was our 58 anniversary making it very special hotel as views were awesome.

I make frequent trips through Ottawa. The Best Western has become my hotel of choice. The hotel is very well maintained and the rooms are very comfortable. I am always impressed with the to knotch service I receive from the staff.

Arrived in the afternoon for a two night stay. Location couldn't be better. There's a park across the street, and beside it the bridge to Ottawa. Excellent free parking. Reception was exceptional! Could not ask for better. Room was OK, fairly standard, but very clean. It's worth paying extra for the balcony view of Parliament. Included breakfast was much appreciated, considering current standards at some hotels. All in, a good stay, and it will be my choice when I return to the area.

All bad reviews are true. Worst client service ever. The room we booked was not available and they want us to pay more for a similar room. Customer service didn't resolve the issue and I had to cancel the reservation and find a new hotel at night with two small children. We did our reservation through Best Western website thinking we would have better service. Don't waste your time at this place.

The hotel's location is amazing and close to major attractions. It is in Gatineau and Ottawa is across the bridge. Friendly staff and a lovely atmosphere. Parking is first cum first basis, but the public paid parking is next to the hotel with cheap overnight rates

Excellent staff very polite, very helpful. Rooms are okay, our room had a problem with the tv they offered to change room right away but we declined. Beds are confortable, could use some renovating (especially the balcony) but you get what you paid for. Amazing view if you take a room with a view of the river. Would recomand and would stay again

Don't let the modern looking photo of the hotel fool you. It's not a new building. She's seen her day. That being said, our stay was ok. This hotel definitely needs an update. The rooms feel worn down. The main entrance had garbage in laying there for most our stay. The front desk was excellent and courteous. The internet was the best I've ever seen. Very fast. The room fridge was the biggest I've seen in a hotel. The beds were comfortable. The a/c worked great. We had a great view with grimy dirty windows. I recommend the operator of this building clean the windows. These criticisms can easy be fixed with some cleaning. The parking was very tight. If you leave the property, you can lose your spot and have to park on the side of the building with no view of your car. Would I come back? No. Would I recommend? No. I've been spoiled with HIE hotels. They are hard to beat. (Holiday Inn Express)

I usually stay in downtown Ottawa, but going forward I will not. I will be staying here. Incredibly Close and 25% of the price of a downtown Ottawa hotel. Great staff very friendly with a good restaurant and pool. With a wonderful view of the river and all of Ottawa. It would be crazy to spend four or $500 a night when you can stay here

We returned to this hotel for a weekend outing to Ottawa. The hotel is stone's throw away from the Canadian Museum of History and only a short walk across Alexandra Bridge from the National Gallery. Our room was on the 9th floor and offered a spectacular view of the Ottawa River and the Parliament buildings. Apart from being spacious and clean the room was equipped with a flat-screen TV and all other amenities you would expect to find in a hotel room in this category. Staff at front desk was very helpful and friendly. We pre-reserved breakfast when electronically pre-checking in and received a $10 discount. The breakfast was very good.

DESPICABLE & DISAPPOINTING I specifically booked this hotel Strictly because of their claim of a heated SALT-WATER pool, as well as the menu they displayed online. Due to my very restrictive diet, I obviously chose to plan ahead with what specifically I was going to order. When I arrived at the pool, I stepped in just to quickly have to step out (along with my guest) as a result of frigid temperatures. The Employee sitting at a table got up when i asked her if she could turn the temperature up. She got up and swiped her hand in the water and said “oh, that is cold”. As if she didnt believe us- regardless- fortunately, She said she would try to call the “company”... Which was probably maintenance at the hotel… I thanked her for at least looking into it. I walked away. I was extremely DISAPPOINTED as a result of the false claim and Obviously having expected to step into a heated pool and have a swim... I decided to move forward and try to make the best of the evening And step into the restaurant. I was presented with a menu that was a very small single piece of paper. I presented the screenshot of the “menu” to the waitress and pointed what i wished to order- She explained that item was no longer available. Without wasting anymore time, I left the table and went straight to the front desk and Requested to speak with a manager. An african american gentleman manager (my simcere apologies i do not recall his name) Came to the desk and heard what I had to say. He informed me that The pool temperature had been increased and that it should only take 15 to 30 minutes… Well, unfortunately even if that amount of water can truly heat within that timeframe… That, IS amd WAS the timeframe i had set aside to swim Prior to dinner- i was Understandably not satisfied. He then Explained that the menu had been changed THREE months ago and that whoever takes care of online should have removed it by now… He offered me menus of other restaurants… I thought he was offering a free meal as a result of my massive inconvenience as a result of BEST WESTERN. He did NOT take accountably and did NOT even offer a free meal! I shared that I checked in the hotel in the hopes of relaxing at heated pool amd having a meal prior to my morning court date— He uttered an apology but could not offer a free meal because they are not affiliated WITH the restaurant- I was EXTREMELY patient despite ALL of this- I requested a meal which he “couldn't do”... It was now after 6pm, I said i wanted to cancel the reservation He replied with he couldn't because i “didn't book on the hotel site” Confused, i commented that I DID. I booked Directly through the best western website he rebutted by saying no I didn't and that his actual hotelt site of that location or something… At that point I wasn't gonna go back-and-forth with words with him trying to explain anymore and he clearly was not going to assist me in anyway and so I left it at that and sadly walked away. I went to speak with the chef at the restaurant who fortunately was able to put together something for me with the ingredients/items that he had available ... At least i bought some suitable food. We went up to our room which BTW I had left a comment in the requested section on the BESTWESTERN booking SITE for 3 additional towels- I guess that was TOO CHaLLENGING of a request because they could NOT fulfill THaT EITHER- IS THIS a “Hotel” you want to stay!?

We have stayed here a number of times for Winterlude and have always enjoyed this hotel. Great staff and an excellent location to experience Winterlude. Beautiful view out of our room of the river and parliament buildings.

This hotel is unfriendly, no breakfast, none of the charm that some Best Westerns offer (bowl of apples, fresh coffee, tea or hot chocolate in lobby on arrival) ... this is simply a get in - pay us - get out kind of place ... I was soo dissapointed ...

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the years. It is one of our FAVORITE hotels! We love the views and we love how close it is to everything we love to do in the area. Parking is always easy and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The pool is always a nice perk too!

This hotel was recommended by a family member, and we were not disappointed. Check-in was fine, accommodations overlooking Winterlude festivities was a nice surprise. Restaurant was great for breakfast and dinner, a special shout out to Pierre in the restaurant and front desk staff who provided great directions and maps for Winterlude activities. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel. We look forward to returning in the summer.

This is one of the Best Hotel I stayed at in the Ottawa area, as I work there from time to time. Very helpful staff, superb room and a very decent restaurant. The view on the parliament is simply amazing ! I highly recommend it !

I stayed with a group of colleagues at the BW Plus Gatineau. Vert nice hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed the stay. 4 nights. The restaurant was awesome for breakfast each morning. The staff at the restaurant were very personable with all of us in the group. Seemed genuinely happy to be there and make our breakfast enjoyable. The food was great and made the way everyone liked it. The breakfast server was very pleasant and joked with all of us. Even for a Bruins fan, he was a very nice person. I am glad he was our server. The desk clerks were very knowledgeable about the hotel and surrounding area, they were very helpful to our group. On fella was a nice guy. The maintenance guy named Matt. Very helpful and was very pleasant, and said he I needed anything at all just to ask for him. I ended up with a hurt hip and that was very nice to offer the help. I spoke with the events manager ...i can't remember her name, but she was outstanding and very eager to make sure everything was fine with our group and a very pleasant lady to deal with. She was very accommodating with our group as we needed a conference area to conduct business, they actually let us use the closed restaurant for the meeting. Overall very very pleased with the overall all experience. If I ever travel to Gatineau/Ottawa with my family I will definitely stay at this hotel.

Very nice three star hotel at a very good price. Lots of restaurants within walking distance (the hotel also has a restaurant), and has the best view of the parliement buildings. Our room was nice, clean, and in good order. We enjoyed the walk crossing the bridge, and had a good time. Commun transport is also excellent, and the hotel is near a commun transport hub.

I chose this hotel because of the location. It did not live up to my expectations. A staff member refused to acknowledge my greeting in English. The bathroom had hair on the floor and in the bathtub. People were knocking on doors at 2 A.M.

Less that my expectation Noisy heating system. Cannot sleep well I have to pay for parking and breakfast separately because Best Western Policy has changed without advising customer that are members. Nice hotel employees and workers at lobby and restaurant too.

We had a problem with noise at a very late part of the night. The next day, the staff moved us to another room. We appreciated the help. Thank you to the young ladies at the front desk. We will try to go back when hockey season will be done with.

All Best westerns are great, but the river view of the parliament buildings from this hotel was awesome.From the maids on up the service was second to none. The staff was vey helpful and knowledgeable about the surrounding area.

Nice to go to a Best Western that is on par with the other hotels. Very modern décor and friendly staff. I had a room that overlooked the river which was really nice. The only downside is that there isn't sufficient soundproofing. I kept hearing my neighbour's every time they went in and out. It felt like they were coming into my room.

This is an older hotel that feels a bit unkept. The main reason I am only giving it 2 stars is because of the extremely dirty state of the kitchenette in our room. There was food splatter all over the walls, the fridge inside and out as well as the cupboards. The stove top and oven were absolutely disgusting. There was even a wine glass in the cupboard that had dried wine in the bottom . There was no improvement after asking the cleaning staff and manager of the hotel to clean the kitchenette.

The Best Western Gatineau is our "go to" hotel when staying in Ottawa. Location, riverside rooms, amenities and convenience of access to the "touristy" areas of Ottawa and Gatineau by foot or vehicle always make it our choice!

We were in Quebec for a visit to the Nordik Spa stayed the night at the Best Western the hotel was very good front desk staff were very helpful the restaurant meals were excellent staff very nice and the food very good and good value we had a river view room 9th floor beautiful view of parliament buildings

Stayed here twice now - as I had business in Gatineau. Located downtown and convenient enough to get to where I needed. Restaurant is fine, and there are a few others in walking distance. Staff were very friendly and went out of their way to ensure I had a good stay.

This hotel is a great location easy walk to the Market, there is the Papya Verte, St-Hubert and O'Lauier to eat at. the Depanneur(corner store) has a lot of option for snacks, food and drink. The gym is okay with a universal, treadmill a little old and elliptical. The service a the desk is always professional and the breakfast place O'laurier is very good options.

Nice hotel located on the outskirt of Ottawa next to the big Canadian history museum and a 20 mins walk across the nice Alexandra bridge to get to downtown Ottawa. Convenience store and restaurants near by. I suggest getting a room with the river view, it is worth it. Wonderful and helpful staff. Breakfast was excellent and at a descent price. Room was clean and really comfortable bed. Will be back if Im visiting the area again.

The service at check in was very good and the room we had requested and been assigned (riverview) was very nice. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean and tidy overall. After settling in we went to the in-house restaurant the O Laurier cafe bistro for something to eat. The first thing the waitres told us was that they were changing the menu and that there was no salads or ribs or a number of other items. So we ordered soup, poutine,and wings. They were all terrible. When we went back to our room we found that the tv didn't work unless you played with the cable connection. The last straw fo us was that guests were required to pay fo parking. Overall a 3 out of ten

the personell had been very friendly and helpful, unfortunately is the furniture of the rooms already very old and the fridge had been very noise. The didn't have continental breakfast. The location itself is perfect, its close to the Ottawa-river and to most of the museums.

I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to host an event! I hosted a conference and had a great experience with all personnel from the accommodating sales manager, to the exceptional managers and the great chef. The rooms had a stunning view of Ottawa and very clean with comfortable beds.The location was less than a 20 minute walk to the Byword market with beautiful surroundings. I was extremely satisfied with my experience and highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Ottawa for business or pleasure.

We booked three rooms for our family during Labour Day weekend because we were attending a wedding. We arrived close to 5 pm and after a long wait at reception to check in, found out that two of our rooms were not ready. This was very inconvenient as we had to get ready for a wedding event. One of our rooms had a very bad smell, and the window of the room I was in was filthy. All seemed like they needed updating. I expected better from Best Western. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and staff was courteous. Breakfast in the cafe was pretty average (terrible coffee though) but the waiter who seemed to be alone and was run off his feet was very friendly.

We stayed here for one night (2 adults and 2 children). It was a holiday weekend (Labour Day); however, the hotel was understaffed. There was a very long line up (and wait) at reception to check in. The lady was working very hard to check everyone in but she needed help. One customer was very upset because his room was not ready. Check-In starts at 4 PM and it was after 5 PM. When we got off the elevator, there were cleaning carts in the hall and staff working to get rooms cleaned. Parking is at an additional charge divided into three parking lots. If you have breakfast included you need vouchers. It is not the typical buffet breakfast but chosen from a menu. You pay for anything extra like toast.

-great location (20 minute walk across bridge to Ottawa) -reception was nice -restaurant reasonably priced -nothing too fancy, just meets all your needs -would recommend if trying to save money by not being downtown

This was my first time staying at the Best Western chain. The hotel looked fresh and modern on the outside and the lobby was clean, with complimentary coffee available. They also have a small restaurant which serves breakfast and dinner (did not have time to eat there). The rooms are in definite need of some updating (I was on the 4th floor) as the décor and furniture appears tired and dated. The closet sliding door in my room was also broken. The parking at the front of the hotel is very limited and I had to park in the back about a block away to the rear of the hotel (cost $13). There were two or three lots behind the hotel and it was difficult to find which lot belonged to the Best Western as the signage is unclear. On the upside the hotel is within walking distance to the Canadian Museum of History and a longer walk away across the bridge to Parliament Hill. Ok for a quick stop but would not stay again.

This is a very good hotel in an excellent location.We had an upper floor room facing the river and the view of the parliament building was spectacular, especially in the evening. We intend to return soon.

I always stay BW but this hotel was not up to their standards. Rooms were not ready upon check in. Sheets were old and had holes in them. Rooms dated and could use extra cleaning. Kids didn't even want to swim pool was not well maintained. The restaurant and bar not open except for breakfast and dinner. You have to go elsewhere for a drink or something to eat if your not there during certain hours. Staff were ok but nothing I've experienced at other BW hotels. The hotel does not deserve to have a plus attached to its name.

First time we stayed at this hotel we were on the sixth floor facing river just enjoyed breath taking views of Ottawa. Easy access to downtown, park and river tours. Downside no breakfast, no microwave and if your English 2/3 tv channels. Staff was the best eager to please you. Salt water pool good.

This hotel is located across the river from Parliament Hill and just down the street from the Museum of Humanity in Hull. We arrived late and left early but it was adequate for our needs. Our king sized bed was very comfortable. The hotel staff were accommodating and helpful. Breakfast was not included in the cost of the room and we didn't use the hotel restaurant. It's good for overnight and slightly cheaper than the hotels in downtown Ottawa.

This is another Tripadvisor review that has me scratching my head, wondering, what were they thinking. Our room was clean, but very shabby. The carpet was lumpy and stained, and the overall look of the room was one that has seen better days. Looked like a throw back to the 1970s, I though I was living in an old James Bond movie. Not retro on purpose, just had not been updated in 40 years. There is a very small parking lot in front that I was lucky enough to find a space. There is nothing withing walking within close walking distance of the hotel. They advertise that they are walking distance to downtown Ottawa, from the hotel to the other side of the bridge is about one mile. I was upset with this location before I even arrived. I received voicemail and email messages saying my credit card was declined. I called Discover, concerned that my card had issues. The problem was that the Best Western website allowed the reservation to be made on my Discover Card, but this particular hotel did not take discover. If I rated all the Best Westerns I've stayed in over the last five years, this one would be the worst.

Very good location, just across the bridge to downtown (1.5km or so). Really excellent full breakfast in restaurant. Indoor pool is good for swimming: not too warm, sufficiently long & deep. Take room to the river in upper floors. We had 7th, and an excellent view over the bridge to parliament (rear side). Really nice. Free parking.

I recently stayed at this hotel. It was nice rooms that were well cleaned. The reception was also very nice and the view was nice and open. However the breakfast was disappointing, with only egg, potato and bacon with toast. However this may be due to the fact I was staying with a large group and therefore eating in a different area to the normal breakfast.

The staff were excellent, and the view of the parliament buildings across the river, was fabulous. The rooms were clean (though I recommend you get a room with a balcony, as we had two separate rooms, and you can't open the window in the non-balcony room, and it was a bit stuffy).

If you don't mind partying people and families with loud and noisy kids and you don't really need a good night sleep in a clean and calm hotel room then this hotel is right up your alley!!! I will personally never go there again, since I don't like wasting my money!

Тhe cleanliness of the rooms was terrible, hair everywhere and dust in the corners of the room. In response to my persistent and consistent requirement to change the room or to properly clean it, I received only an imitation of response and no practical steps.

Easy access to downtown Ottawa and the best location for museums and firework viewing. Front desk personnel was exceptionally helpful. However house keeping needs improvement, replacement of empty tissue box and shower soap is essential and was lacking. Definitely would add a lot of values if breakfast and parking can be included. Overall the hotel is good value. I would recommend it and will be back if we return to Gatineau/Ottawa.

When we arrived our booking agency had let us down and failed to process our booking, the reception staff when above and beyond to assist into a room of our choice at a reasonable rate. Breakfasts are great and the location of the hotel is ideal. Our room was quiet and and the king bed comfortable, we enjoyed our stay completely. Would we recommend this hotel - yes.

Spent 3 nights at this hotel while on business. Reception staff are fantastic and the manager went above and beyond when I had difficulty with my door lock. The restaurant was good too. It is always refreshing to encounter people who appear to enjoy their jobs. If you are looking for clean comfortable and friendly accommodations in the area, this is definitely the place!

Stayed there for 1 night June 14, 2019, I had a very comfortable room with a great view of Ottawa! Very well located, close to museums, Ottawa parliament, casino, a nice park in front of the hotel, a convenient indoor parking, restaurant in the hotel.

Recently returned from ottawa and stayed here.The hotel is clean, comfortable and the location is superb.For me in meetings all day it was heaven to walk out your door to paths and a short walk over the bridge to ottawa which had many pubs, restaurants, shopping,things to see.You must go into notre dame basilica!Definietly would stay here again.Rooms were updated with nice decore and amazing veiws of river and city.There is a restaurant, gym and pool as well!

I would rate this a 3.5 if possible. The hotel itself is fine but not a PLUS in my opinion. The lobby, small restaurant and rooms are fine; something very odd about the claustrophobic hallways with no windows though. It gives a bit of a creepy feel. The location of the hotel is what is the issue. It's set within a neighbourhood that is in need of work. Other than the History Museum there is nothing within easy distance. It is very close to a bridge that caters to vehicles as well as walking and cycling traffic if you don't mind a good walk that brings you to the Ottawa side by the Art Museum, Royal Canadian Mint and the Notre Damn Basilica; more attractions if you are up to a long walk.

When my cab pulled up in front of the Best Western Plus in Gatineau I was silent for a moment. The exterior of the building is not sparkling and seemed out of place situated smack in the middle of a residential neighbourhood. The lobby did not heighten my expectations for while neat and tidy it has a somewhat dated look about it. That thank goodness is where any misgivings ended with my stay. The front desk staff were absolutely delightful and while my room was a little delayed in being ready the tandem of male and female kept me informed and offered coffee and water. The room itself had 2 queen beds, a spacious balcony and clean and inviting washroom with tub and shower. There was an easy-to-use coffee maker with a delicious blend of coffee, full-length wall mirror and a hair dryer. The restaurant is open in the morning at 6 am for full menu breakfasts and again at 5 pm for dinner. Both menus are limited but the food was very good, served hot and timely and very reasonably priced. The location while somewhat unique for a hotel was situated within easy walking distance of the parliament buildings, downtown area, ornamental gardens but only a few other restaurants. There is one convenience store immediately behind the hotel for sundries, snacks, milk, fresh fruit, and wine and beer. All the staff including front desk, restaurant and room care were pleasant and helpful in all way asked. I would not hesitate to stay at the Best Western Plus in Gatineau on another occasion.

I stayed at this hotel from May 20-24 on business with Elections Canada. Upon arriving at 9:00am, (because Elections Canada scheduled that flight for me), I asked for an early check-in. I was told that was not possible, and that I would have to wait until 4:00pm. In the end, my room was not ready until 4:50pm. Very frustrating! Don't they have some flexibility with the staff? The sink in the bathroom was clogged completely... I left a note for the staff but it was never fixed. When I brushed my teeth, my brush would end up touching the rising water. Breakfast was a big disappointment. I had an Elections Canada breakfast pass, but after the first day, they scaled the menu back to a very minimal number of items. To get orange juice I had to pay $4 out of my pocket. The scrambled eggs were so gross I couldn't eat them. As one reviewer said, there was one server running around trying to do his best, but the dining room was full. Lucky to get a coffee refill. Oh, that's enough!

We have enjoyed our stays at the Gatineau BW and scheduled ourselves to celebrate our wedding anniversary there. The hotel is clean, the staff very friendly, and its location near the capital is unparalleled.

It seems I was an inconvenience to them. 40 minutes to check in. Dismissive when asking about reservation. 3rd party booking company botched reservation but they repeatedly tried to place blame on me. I was the one identifying 3rd party was to blame...no problem, how can we resolve it. A/C was ineffectual. Carpet has stretched and is minor trip hazard. Restaurant was busy and had only 1 wait staff...he seemed frantic.

surprise surprise ! extra fee at check-in not figure anywhere in my online registration. Unlike all the other Best Western Hotel, no breakfast include in standard reservation, and the nearby restaurant are charging way too much for it. Verry expensive city, and not worth it

I have stayed at this hotel on two occasions in the past year. Both check-in and the self checkout option just makes these tasks easy. On both stays, I found myself in a clean and comfortable well appointed room with tv and wifi which is all I need. During my last visit, I had dinner in the onsite restaurant. The food was good, the wine selection even better and service was awesome. The location is perfect, close to restaurants and the museum of civilization, Jacques Cartier Park and right across from Ottawa downtown core.

First time staying at this location. It was nice and clean. Had a really comfy bed and a great view. Close enough to walk over to the Ottawa side and to Parliament Hill. Would definitely stay again but this time with my family.

Ever since this Best Western started renovating, the hotel has gone down hill. Unfortunately, now it seems that the high prices don't match the quality as it did just a year ago. Key cards are deactivated constantly, but staff put the blame on the clients. WiFi doesn't reach the executive floor, and forces clients out of their rooms to public areas were you can't do private work. Housekeeping is a hit or miss. Some days they clean, others they don't. Towels are not changed when they were obviously placed in a way that you wanted them changed. And to top it all off, they left our room open. We know this because when we left the room, housekeeping was entering the room. So you might as well be open to the chance of loosing your valuables. This Best Western needs a quick course alignment before it loses direction forever. I believe it a great place and am sad to write such a bad review considering how much I stay at it since 2016.

This hotel felt like it was once another building used for something else. Elevator was small and slow; hallways were narrow; doorways were close to each other at right angles and wall were thin. The purpose for our trip was a dance competition so accommodation served its purpose. It was close to the venue, so location was great. When we checked in, the bathroom was missing a door. Immediately fixed, but strange. The front desk seemed to be unaware that one of the rooms would be missing a door. Pool was good, but not easily accessible. Had to go through a labyrinth of hallways and stairs.

Great hotel in an excellent location. Five minute from the Heritage Museum, 30 minute leisurely walk to Parliament Buildings and Byard Market area. Hotel staff and facilities ( pool and fitness area) were well maintained.

My daughter and I just came back from a two night stay at this hotel. The room was very comfortable and the staff was very nice. The hallway leading up to the rooms really need to be updated. Wish the coffee was available all day. The hotel is just a short walk to the museum. Good location & price.

Stayed here for out daughter's dance competition... close to the venue and several restaurants for group dinners. Parking lot is a bit small but there is another lot up the street only a block away. Room was nice with a great view across the river. Front desk staff was friendly and very helpful.

Hotel is old and showing its age. Lobby is nice, but provides no amenities like snacks or beverages. Room was clean, but again is showing it's age (and small!). Doors are definitely not sound proof... and we could hear everything our neighbours said... had to sleep with the tv on to drown their noise out... and then they woke us up at 6AM.. :( Front staff, although apologetic, did nothing to compensate us for our lack of sleep and noisy neighbours. Parking garage is super sketchy as well... the ramp to get in is super steep (I was afraid I'd bottom out when I started going down). Height limit is 6 feet, which I barely fit - as my antenna kept hitting the pipes in the garage.

Stayed in winter at this hotel. Lovely room and magnificent view. Room was spotless and beds very comfortable.Very quiet and nice restaurant in hotel. Would definitely return.Parking only downfall. Underground available. Walking distance to Byward Market.

Room was great! Two Queen beds on upper floor as requested, with a balcony and view of Parliament Buildings and river. Perfect view, clean room, access to pool, and breakfast included!. Service at the front desk was great as the staff there were very helpful!

Our stay at this location was very pleasant. Our room had a spectacular view of the Ottawa skyline and Parliament Hill. The restaurant onsite was very good; was a great breakfast. Front desk staff were very helpful as well. All day coffee station was good too - great after a long day of walking in the capital on a winter's day.

I have been here a couple times . I went there with my family this winter and with my grand kids I had 3 rooms including a spacious suite with the beautiful view . we enjoyed the big pool and the shopping center is realy near the hotel :)

First time at this hotel and we stayed 2 nights at a river view room that had an amazing view. Hotel is close to the jacque cartier park(right across), few min walk to the bus stop to take the FREE shuttle only offered during winterlude festival. Room was clean, and comfortable. No issues with Wifi always connected fast. Does not offer any breakfast with stay - there are breakfast packages but it is a bit more to pay for. There are food places nearby the hotel, Would have loved to have breakfast included in the stay as well especially with having two kids. Overall happy with hotel staff, stay and appearance.

My husband and I choose this hotel for our Valentine's night get away. Beautiful room with an absolutely beautiful view. We have stayed in a lot of hotels due to being military and we both agreed that the bed in the room was absolutely the best that we have slept in. Room was very clean as well. No complaints about the shower. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

Loved our balcony and view of snowflake Kingdom for winterlude. Great water pressure. Enjoyed the pool. Wifi worked well. Restaurant was very nice. Ate breakfast and dinner there. Free constant coffee in lobby was awesome. View in pics. Parliament building zoomed in other pics not.

Stayed 4 nights in this hotel. Staff were nice and the hotel restaurant was great. For whatever reason we had no cold water in our room (728). It came out scalding hot. We could not shower and had to sponge bath as the taps only had hot water. After the first two nights we realized it wasn't a one time thing and approached the front desk about the issue. They were able to give us another room (828) directly above our old room. We changed rooms and unfortunately this room had the same issue. We didn't bother to complain again as the hotel was full and we were already frustrated with having to move rooms. The hotel was very noisy but this was in part due to the winterlude festival across the street and lots of children. The walls are thin and we could hear the neighbors toilet flush. The -28 rooms are adjacent to the cleaning crew storage which makes it very noisy early in the morning as they start cleaning rooms. The parking lot was a death trap and I fell trying to walk down the driveway. There was snow a few days before we arrived but no snow during our whole stay and the ice was never addressed. An investment in salt would be advised. Attached are images of the ice buildup

Hotel was generally okay, nothing special. However parking was SO difficult to get to, there is a huge bump to drive up to the front door, almost bottomed out our car. Was left awake from 1-4am by very loud neighbors, where there was little insulation between rooms, especially since we were in a room with an adjoining door. On the first floor, woken up at 11pm and then again 7-8am by children since our hallway is the only access to the pool. Would not suggest staying on the first floor. Internet was spotty at best. Completely understand the hotel can't always control noise, and when I finally called a noise complaint at 4pm they spoke to the room, however when I checked out they just asked if I wanted a receipt and took my card. No asking how the stay was, if everything was okay, etc. Felt very un-personal. Most likely would not stay again for that price, unfortunately.

We stayed here for meetings in Gatineau - it's close to many government buildings so convenient that way. There are few restaurants, services or amenities near by (not really within walking distance) so not a great place for tourists It was clean with good internet - it's an old building refit as a hotel so don't expect anything too interesting - although the views from the top floors are nice. Some customer service training would be useful for staff.

I was attending a conference at my own expense and returned to the Best Western chain after many pleasant experiences with this chain when my son had so many basketball camps and tournaments. I was able to use some points for my trip and had also booked part of my stay in a regular way - through my credit card. I made my reservation with with the central reservations system so the local hotel was not to blame, but were stuck with dealing with me needing another night's stay that had not been 'booked'. Long story ...however, instead of any interruption in my stay, this hotel front desk staff were able to extend my reservation and have me remain in the same room. The view was great, loved the winter scenes and a recent snow fall made it spectacular. Looking south, you see the river, the Canadian Parliament Buildings and the Museum of History. This hotel is just 'over the bridge' from downtown Ottawa for a fraction of the cost of downtown Ottawa hotel. There is a convenient canopy formed by the front entrance where cars can pull up keeping you dry should it rain/snow. There is coffee available in the morning by the front desk so how can you lose? :)

This hotel is overpriced for not being updated. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean, but the pool was dirty and the interior needs a makeover. If you're facing the Ottawa River there's a beautiful view of parliament.

The hotel is very close to the Parliament Hill. They have a paid parking, The rooms are clean, refreshing, The front view is good and we can see the parliament hill. Breakfast is not included in the room and is alacarte.

Two evenings in row I had to deal with loud rowdy guests around my room, with little or no help from hotel management. Upon my check out I was promised a reimbursement of my parking fees for the two nights stay as compensation and as of today my credit card does not show a credit and I don't think it will, not from them anyway, they seems to be an all talk no actions from management.In conclusion, cleanliness and comfort does not equal peacefulness in my book as a senior person who enjoys tranquility over hostility.

I want to preface this with I am a seasoned traveller, I travel mostly for business and probably have about 8-10 trips a year totalling about 30-45 days. I will add in that I sleep like a rock and once I am asleep it takes a lot to wake/bother me – if this wasn't the case I would have left this hotel after day one no matter how far away I needed to stay. My point to that blurb is never ever have I experienced anything like this before. The good: 1) Room is clean (this is a deal breaker – dirty room I leave) 2) Bed is reasonably comfortable 3) The one manager I spoke to who moved my room for me was genuinely a nice guy, he wanted to help but some things are beyond his control. The Bad: 1) Day one, arrive and am told I am on the 9th floor (top), but it faces the city. I ask for a view of Ottawa and get it (thank you) on the 5th floor. Nice view. So I go out for dinner, I come back to what only can be described as tour bus hell. There are at least 150 people in the lobby checking in. I manage to get up to my floor. What the literal hell – the walls are paper thin and these people are playing musical instruments (they are good at it at least) but the walls are so damn thin. I call down and am told “I will tell my manager….TOMORROW!” (yes not today) I cant be moved as there are no rooms. 2) Day two, I am sure it was a fluke and I trudge up to my room. Nope not a fluke, walls are still paper thin. Its insane how much I can hear. Call #1 reception says the same thing. I tell her to get me moved, she cant. She will have her manager call me on my cell tomorrow (never happens btw), call #2 its 1030PM and a staff member is pushing a laundry cart up and down the hall. Its so loud!! I tell him to stop it and he does. Still no rooms available. 3) Day three, no call to me as requested so I stop at front desk see manager and get moved to “quieter” corner room on the ninth floor facing Ottawa (nice view, thanks). He tells me all those tourists are checking out and 9 is much quieter. (its not) it is under construction to some degree, but only during business hours and not on the weekend – perfect. 4) Day four, a hockey tournament checks in – its so noisy – why didn't I check out you say? Well #1 there is a festival (Winterlude) and hotels are booked, #2 solace in that I sleep like a rock – see above. 5) Day five, Friday - there are no do not disturb signs for the doors (at least my room) so I ask the manager for one. I tell him this is only so I can use it Saturday. He tells me they have none and tells me he will flag my room. I come back after working to a DND on my door and a uncleaned room. They get it done. 6) Day six, since they don't give you any water in this hotel I ask the receptionist for some, she suggests I fill a jug in the washroom. I decline. 7) Day seven, still noisy 8) Day eight, thank god I'm checking out. Woke up at 630 (almost time to get up) by construction workers talking quietly in the hall. Yes that's how thin the walls are. Due to a late business meeting I needed a late check out, check out is 11 – I needed 1230, not unreasonable given what I went through – nope 12PM is the max no exceptions. My conclusions: • If you are a business traveller avoid this hotel at all costs. The walls are paper thin, the elevators are absolutely insanely slow. • Tip envelope - one of the weirdest things I have ever had at any hotel was the cleaning staff leave a nice little envelope with their names on it so you can tip. I have never seen anything like that before. If you ignore it they will move it to more prominent places in the room, like your pillow, your bedside lamp etc. • Staff here are generally unhelpful “ill tell my manager tomorrow”. • Exterior is a crazy death trap, the front has really slippery “marble” which they do salt frequently, but the only way to get into and out of the property by foot is walk out of the parking lot which the hotel is essentially built on a small hill, so its difficult in winter. • I concede it wouldn't have made anything better, but a gesture of here's some bottled water, here's a meal at the restaurant or something would have been nice. I never asked for it as truly it wouldn't have made anything better but still it speaks to the general lack of customer service at this hotel. If I was best Western corporate reading this I would be ashamed. This hotel is a perfect example of we don't care anymore and we will suck every last dollar out of this place before we put one into it. I have stayed in more then one BW and to say I was surprised and disappointed is a understatement. • The view is amazing.

Convenient location for Winterlude Activities especially Park across the road. Rooms are average but clean and well maintained. Only wish was that we new about pool closure when we booked. Gave us free parking to make up for inconvenience.

The staff at this location have customer service down to a science. From the staff at the main desk to the cleaning lady they go out of their way to make sure you are completely satisfied and have no concerns. They make you feel like your part of the family when you stay here. I also had the pleasure of experiencing the staff at the attached restaurant called O'Laurier. I had supper there and after such an awesome experience I also wanted to see what the breakfast was like. The food was flavourable beyond comprehension and the price was more than reasonable. I told a friend about my meals when I got back to Vancouver and he was sure it must have cost me well over a hundred dollars. When I say their prices were more than reasonable it did not cost me more than forty dollars and trust me just the presentation would have cost me more than double anywhere else. The staff in the restaurant including even the bus boy made my experience unforgettable as their service surpassed any where else. If you live in the area and want to take you wife, husband, girlfriend or boyfriend to an unforgettable culinary experience then this is the place to go and your partner will love you for the experience.

We got a room facing the Parliament Hill for the NYE celebrations. We had a few friends with us in the room, got the best view of the fireworks. Service was superb at check in, rooms are nice... I hear that the 9th floor is under renovation and supposed to be beautiful. The lobby is all renovated also, they seem to be upgrading the hotel to a brand new look. The room was contained everything we needed, a great size room adding a comfy bed. It could use some minor TLC but overall, the location in the midst of Hull with a short walk to Ottawa's Byward Market, its clean, it was quiet. From what we could see every unite facing the Parliament Hill had a balcony, again a plus for us.

We had a beautiful view from our balcony, we could see parliament building and museum steps away from the hotel. Also across from hotel snow machines were on full swing preparing for Winterlude kids park, looked awesome. Again great location winter and summer.

Best Western in Gatineau is perfect location- outside but close to downtown Ottawa, and directly in Hull. Great location to stay, quality service with great pricing. When I visit the ottawa/gatineau region, I always stay here.

I chose to book the Best Western in Gatineau during a recent visit to Ottawa and I'm happy I did. We had a King Room with a River View and it was very nice. The hotel room was a bit dated, but it was clean and the bed was super comfortable. The view of the Parliament Buildings and river are terrific and room amenities include a 42-inch flat screen, WIFI, coffee maker and refrigerator. Parking is an additional $13 per night but is in a secure underground garage which is a bonus since we had freezing rain while we were there. The staff are very friendly and I would recommend this hotel for visitors to the Ottawa/Gatineau area.

Very disappointed in my stay, hôtel shower did not work and there was dirty diapers in my garbage when I checked in. Hotel old and not very clean. I asked to change rooms and they only changed us room the next morning! Young and Inexperienced staff members at the front desk. I contacted the hotel manager and he did give me a rebate on my stay due to my experience and apologized. Hôtel breakfast was good.

The Best Western Hotel in Gatineau PQ was a great location for our three night stay for a get away to take in a hockey game and relaxing weekend. The hotel lobby was under renovations upon our arrival but it was not an inconvience. There was a glitch with our reservation but the manager and clerk were very apologetic and accommodating in their efforts to rectify the problem. Both are a credit to the Best Western Hotel organization. They not only resolved it but upgraded our room with one on the executive floor and with a view overlooking the Ottawa River and the capital city. The hotel is in a great central location within minutes to all the sites, shopping areas and business locations. I will certainly return and stay here again in the future and look forward to seeing the changes the renovations have made which will only enhance the hotel and stay. Stayed for the weekend while in town for a tournament. Not sure what makes this property a Best western "Plus", as there were few, if any plusses during our stay. First off, the parking lot holds about 25 cars and the spots are tiny. There is under ground parking, but not large enough for a pick up truck; I didn't want to chance getting my SUV in, so we had to park in an outside gravel lot behind the hotel and across the street in what seemed to be a seedy area. The lobby is torn apart for a renovation, but that happens. Two elevators are woefully slow and inadequate; waits were always long. Interior corridors very narrow, low ceilings and dark. The room itself was fairly spacious and seemed clean; bathroom was tiny however. Beds were comfortable, but extremely small; they felt smaller than even a double. Wifi was virtually unusable, and the tv would black out with a note saying "no service", so even when working, channels were quite grainy. The hotel was quiet, shower pressure and temperature were good as well, and the river side does offer a nice view. One in our group went to the front desk to ask for another blanket or two, and was told they didn't have any. Definitely won't be back here.

Stayed here because of the great location. Check-in took some time with only one receptionist. Polite and apologetic though. Rooms are gross but large. Red (hopefully not bodily fluid) drops on throw pillow. Stained end of bed covers. Carpet. Wall papered bathroom. Desk space has had better days. INTERNET DOES NOT WORK. After advising the receptionist she finally just told me “I don't know what to tell you honestly, another line called as well”. And to try 123.com. Not great if you are on business and need the internet. Just don't stay here.

I stayed at the Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa for two nights on business recently. I stay in hotels between 80-100 nights a year while on business. I was more than pleasantly surprised and delighted with the service and attention to my specific needs that I received from Pierre (the Front Office Manager) and his team. When I arrived to check-in I was hesitant as the hotel was obviously accommodating a number of young energetic hockey players and their families participating in a local tournament. Not exactly what I was hoping for, as I was looking forward to a stress free stay so I could focus on work. Pierre and his team made sure a stress free stay is what I got. They took extra care to ensure I was placed on a quiet floor and away from any potential disturbances. As direct result of their attention to detail and focus on the customers needs they made me a loyal fan of this hotel.

The best western Gatineau Quebec has the best service. Staff are friendly , accommodating and very smiley . It is a perfect hotel if you are looking for something affordable and with excellent service . The food in the restaurant is very good and again excellent service. It is a great option if you are staying in Ottawa but don't want the expense of the fancier hotels. Rooms were slightly outdated but extremely clean and tidy. The hotel is located just across the bridge from Ottawa, we walked to byward market and parliament . We also walked to the natural history museum which is three minute walk. I am very picky about where I stay but this did the trick for what we needed .

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff. The room was very clean, spacious and comfortable. I will definitely be coming back to this location. There's a lot of stores and the view was amazing. Friendly neighbors.

We booked a riverview room but were given a room on the 2nd floor overlooking the parking. The mattresses were super outdated and had a big slope towards the middle. The pillows were the worst pillows I've ever tried, seemed like they were filled with small sacks of beans. I was dead tired but I could barely fall asleep and even when I did, I was so uncomfortable I woke up several times. Way overpriced for the horrible quality.

We were six people who stayed at Best Western Plus Gatineau and we enjoyed our stay. We appreciated the kindness of the staff at he reception desk and we also liked the breakfast at the O'Laurier café in the hotel.We recommend this hotel and we have the intention to return at this hotel in late spring 2019. This hotel is very well located (near of the Alexandria bridge and easy to go in Ottawa ).

Everything about our stay was great. The staff was wonderful, from the front desk personnel, to the restaurant staff, to the chamber maids. The beds are the most comfortable I've ever slept on. I would definitely stay here again. Get a river view room for a beautiful view of the parliament buildings and downtown Ottawa.

I came to this hotel as a nice weekend birthday getaway. The check in process was quick. There is complimentary coffee beside the check in desk. The room I was in had a super comfortable king bed and a wonderful view of the river. It was very clean and everything was in working order. There is parking out front and in an underground parking lot. Parking is an extra charge (13$/day), however I was aware of this upon booking. The location is perfect, all the attractions I wanted to visit were in a 5 min drive radius. There is a restaurant inside but I didn't visit it. All of the staff that I encountered were very friendly. I absolutely would recommend staying here to anyone wanting to visit this area.

Was staying at this place as I had a work conference across the river in downtown Ottawa. The location is good, and it is easy to get to. I had the city view room (instead of looking across the river), but the view was nice. The lobby is nice enough, but when you take the elevator up to your floor, you can tell how dated everything is. My room had a bit of a smoky odor to it - and the people beside me must have been smoking, as I could smell strong cigarette smoke in the alcove. The room is decently appointed, but everything is very very old. The bathroom was clean, but also very old. Paint was coming off in places, and the room seemed like it was in need of some upkeep. Strange thing that I have seen for the first time ever - the sheet on top of the mattress was not a fitted sheet, and not tucked in, just placed on top of the mattress. I asked about this downstairs, and they said that this was normal. I have never seen this anywhere else (photo attached). If you move around a lot in bed at night, the sheet will be totally displaced. I found this to be irritating, and despite numerous requests to have it fixed, it was not done (over a several day stay). The parking situation is odd, and you have to go a couple of blocks away to access the garage, which was poorly designed, and difficult to get in and out of. I will say that the bed was quite comfortable, except for the weird sheet under me. I think this will be a lot better once it is updated! As it stands, I would have reservations about staying here again!

Stayed 2 Nights our room had a king bed it was a good size . Great views of parliament the river the park and the bridge. The hotel is a little older but well maintained spacious lobby. Parking 13 a night. The area is great walking distance to restaurants museums and Jacque Cartier parque across the street. Also easy walk across the bridge to Ottawa market and parliament. The pool was ok not great did not use the restaurant on site but walked to st Hubert 2 minute walk. Would definitely return if in the area . Only complaint elevators very slow

We had a fantastic view of the river, bridge to Ottawa, the Ottawa skyline and Parliament buildings. It is directly across from the Mosaic garden and a few minutes from the Museum of History. Access to lots of activities. We spent the day at Nordik Spa and then out to a Sens game and then back for a good night's sleep!

Anytime I'm in the Ottawa area, I always look forward to staying at the Best Western Plus in Gatineau - QC...it's right on the border of Ontario and Quebec - a bridge separates the two. The service from all the staff is always excellent. Parking is great (underground) which I absolutely like. Close to just about anything your looking for. The rooms are clean, beds are good - I always get a good nite sleep.

Well situated hotel near restaurants, museums and great view. The staff is friendly, smiling, were helpful to give information about restaurants and attractions and very welcoming. Rooms are clean and comfortable bed. Will definately stay again. Had a great time

Excellent hotel when visiting Ottawa. It's the view. The Ottawa River, Parliament, Museum of History, chateau Laurier and all from an armchair in a cosy room. Excellent breakfast and many great restaurants in Gatineau. Highly recommend with a 15 minute walk across Ottawa River to history.

We went to a wedding,very good location for us ,the wedding was at the Mosaic,in front walking distance. The room was excellent,clean smell good.The service was fantastic,hope to return one day ,on top the price is good .

My wife and I stayed recently while helping family move into the area. The hotel is well situated with beautiful views of the Ottawa river and Parliament buildings. The hotel us well run,clean and has a excellent restaurant. Well worth the visit while in the Ottawa area!.

Wow, We tried to find a room in Ottawa but......there was no rooms at the inns...lol The Best Western Plus was right across the road from the river affording it a wonderful view. The rooms were very clean, very comfortable and the price was very surprising...in a good way. There is a restaurant on the premises for all meals. Parking can be a challenge and be very careful of the exit to the side street. It is so steep, it could very easily take the bottom out of your car. That being said, the hotel staff were marvelous, helpful in every way. The location was perfect. The Museum of History was about a block away and the Mosaic Garden display was kitty-corner from the front door. We caught the water taxi to the bottom of the Rideau canal from the dock behind the museum. It will also drop you off a short distance from the new War Museum. One of the bridges to the Ottawa side was almost directly out of the parking lot.

Great location to visit Ottawa without all the hassle. Walking distant to amenities, restaurants, convenience store, all the main attractions in Ottawa, and right on the bike trail. The hotel offered bike lock up so we new our bikes were secure when we were not cycling. Our room was very spacious and included a kitchen and we had a lovely view of Gatineau and the hills. The staff were all extremely helpful.

Excellent staff. This is a very clean hotel, with a very good location and comfortable rooms. The room I took had a view on the river side and a balcony. This permits you to have a view on the parlement buildings situated on the other side of the river. I will certainly return to this hotel.

We chose the Best West because it was close to the Mosaicultures in Gatineau Park. Our room provided a great view of the park and was conveniently located just across the bridge to Ottawa. The neighborhood was great and it was a 10 minute walk over the bridge to Ottawa Parliament and Market area. The staff was friendly and courteous, the rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. We will choose the Best Western again on our next trip to Gatineau or Ottawa.

All was perfect except that breakfast is not included with hotel reservation. It would have been appreciated to be notified before registration. Breakfast at the hotel is becoming customs all over the world.

What started out as a bad situation, it soon turned into a very positive one with the guidance of the reception personnel. My gift cards had been disabled (had them over 2 years) which caught me by surprise and needless to say, I was very disappointed. The reception personnel were all very efficient, professional and very understanding. They instructed me how to get them activated and with their assistance cards were activated in a very timely fashion. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our room was very quietened clean with comfortable bed and pillows. Location was great with easy access to Ottawa where we were meeting with friends. All in all, I strongly recommend this hotel whether you are travelling for business or pleasure.

We had great time and enjoyed our stay at the Best Western hotel in Gatineau. The location is conveniently located close to many attractions especially if you are looking to take the kids to cultural attractions such as the children's museum. The rom was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

The staff at the front desk was very helpful and friendly upon our arrival and listened to our needs. The room was clean and bright and breakfast was great in the restaurant in the main lobby. When we had questions regarding location of restaurants and amenities, again the staff was very helpful and happy to help. The location is great as it is a short walk across the bridge to downtown Ottawa.

This was a short one night stay. Room was nice, bed comfirtable and about 20 minutes walk to byward market crossing Alexandra bridge. Did the job and next time I will dtay a few more days and visit the Canadian history museum and also the mosaicultures which are both 2 mijutes away.

BW is a dirty hotel with noisy air conditioners and fridges, paper thin walls crying out loud for renovation or major cleanup. Because of the noise of the small fridge, air conditioner and night partying people from room above us we could not sleep until 3:30 am. We unplugged the fridge, turned off the AC but smell of the old dirty carpet filled the room immediately. Beside the noise issue we had mold on ceiling in bathroom and old armchair with huge black stains on its sit with hole in a center was a cherry on top of the picture of room #236. No wonder staff did not ask "how was your stay" at the checkout, they don't want clients who is checking in to hear it. I would never stay at this hotel again and would never recommend it to my friends.

Very clean, nice and quiet hotel, even though it is older, it is very well kept up. Hotel restaurant was a great surprise, excellent food, and great service for very reasonable price. We had the ribs special and they were fall off the bone great!

from start to finish it was a complete package from booking to check in and helpful hints, the condition of the room, answers to questions for things to do in the surrounding area, restaurant advice, parking and check out. For sure will stay there again when back in that area.

Hotel offers a good access to the main attraction, Ottawa. With a balcony, you can have a very nice view of the river and the parliament. A small walk accross the bridge and you reach all the main attractions. Some interesting museums and activities are close to the hotel. For critics, The neighborhood lacks good restaurants in a close vinicity and, some sectors of Gatineau are more for young couples than for family's. (Nice partys...lol). During our stay, the A/C noise was evident. (A very hot time of the month) Overall, we would not hesitate to book a new stay at this hotel. And I'm not paid for this... garanteed

Very disappointing stay. Rooms were not very clean and musky smelling (we were in 302). Balcony with view of the river was nice but with both AC vents (ours and the neighbour's) venting onto the tiny balcony, it was too noisy and hot to really enjoy it. I was pleased we could at least open the window for fresh air (I am allergic to AC) but the noise of all the vents was deafening. It did quiet down at night which was nice. Really, if the hotel smelled better and was cleaner, I would have given it a better rating. The fridge in the room was also old and very noisy. Restaurant is dark and dingy (but friendly waiter), we did not stay there. Location is amazing, within walking distance to the river, Ottawa and old Hull (lovely restaurants in old Hull)

I was in Gatineau to celebrate a family reunion. Our room was located on the 6th floor with a lovely view of the Ottawa river and the parliament bldgs. The motel was within walking of market square and numerous historic monuments and numerous attractions. We had a memorable stay. Breakfast was served daily a provided lovely way to start the day.

Beautiful hotel and the stuff is awesome! We love coming to this hotel have not been disappointed yet! Strongly recommend. My husband and myself we are both seniors and enjoy travel.. we found this hotel On our visit to Ottawa. We were very happy at Best Western Plus Gatineau, breakfast was amazing and service very friendly and fast! The room was very clean every time we came to stay at this hotel. We love it and can't wait to come back!

Awesome hotel. I couldn't believe the view of the river and parliament buildings. We were able to watch the fireworks finals from our hotel room. All the main sight seeing spots were within walking distance but if you're not into walking the hop-on hop-off bus stop is across the road. Although this hotel is in Quebec everyone speaks English as well as French. As for the room, it was very clean. The staff was very friendly. Breakfast was not included but would have been appreciated.

Stayed one night Aug 2018 with wife and son. Location is pretty convenient if you don't mind walking. We walked across the bridge to the Parliament buildings, Bauer Markt and Byward Market (FYI YOW rolls up the sidewalks at 1600h on Sundays- snooze fest). Took about 30mins Upon arrival you will quickly realize that he parking situation needs addressing. Only 24 spots. We arrived at 1930h and after a 22min check-in process a spot opened up. Was brutal trying to fit a crew cab longbox Ram into a spot made for a Civic. I honestly don't know where hey send others to park but paying for parking here is a joke Room was a decent size, mid-sized fridge was nice. Did NOT have a safe. Beds were very comfy. Room and guests were nice and quiet. The bathroom was a bit of a horror story. The walled tile in the tub was full of black mould, the tub was stained and very dirty as was the "white" shower curtain. Also very poorly laid out. The sink is right at the door so if one is brushing teeth, shaving or applying makeup no one can enter or leave without taking the door off the toes or heel. If we hadn't driven 9hrs, wasted 25mins checking in and wanting to visit the area we would have asked for a mouldless room. We were rushed and didn't want the hassle. If you're up to walking you get great views of OTT on Alexandra Bridge.

This hotel has been renovated, the staff are top-notch and the restaurant in particular is surprisingly good. I don't expect much from on-site restaurants but both the food and service here were top notch. Saved a tired family from driving around looking for a meal.

Great location, walking distance to the Parliament in Ottawa, and also a beautiful botanical garden across the street! Our rooms were great, a bit small but clean, plus we had a small balcony to enjoy the night air! Hotel staff were great, and helpful. Per staff suggestion, we bought tickets for the tour bus, which would pick us up very close to the hotel and tour Ottawa's museums, market place and Sparks street with some great tour guides ... money well spent!

I booked a river view room at the Gatineau Best Western. The room was great. My mother was able to watch the Casino lac de Leamy light show right from the room. The hotel was just a five minute walk from the museum of nature and the evening fireworks display. We were a two minute walk from the Gatineau Mosaicanada display. Great central location. Highly recommend it.

We were very happy with our stay and the location. We were on the 5th floor and had beautiful views of the river and parliament. The room was comfortable and everything was in good working order except for the wifi in the room. I was only able to get a signal on the balcony which was fine for us because that is where we spent most of our time. I would recommend and plan on staying here again in the future.

We're regulars of this hotel, and we love it. Conveniently located across the street from the Civilization/Children Museums, access to same is a breeze. A lot happening within walking distance: Parliament Hill, Mosaiculture, Fireworks, and then some. Friendly and helpful staff will most certainly make your stay enjoyable. Highly recommend *****

Great location, the price was decent. Went on a trip with my family, the hotel was very accommodating, friendly and courteous. Our room was upgraded at no cost and the view was spectacular. Very child friendly hotel. Definitely would stay here again, next time I plan a trip to Ottawa.

For the price we paid, and the view we had, you really can't beat the Best Western hotel where we stayed. We were very happy with our room, the view, the staff, and the amenities. Elevator was a bit slow...but we were not in a big rush!

We stayed for three nights. Great room, comfortable beds and excellent location. The last day for sone reason the room was not cleaned, when we arrived at night I went to the front desk and they apologized profusely and send us clean towels right away. The next day, the manager (a very pleasant gentleman which unfortunatelly I didn't get his name) waved the three days of parking fees. The service in the dining roomand reception was very good. We shall be back

Nice room. I was t traveling solo for a tournament, when they heard that they put in the express check out option so I could just leave in the morning Had a nice little kitchen and the staff was very friendly. Will situated, lots of parking around the hotel.

We really enjoyed this hotel. The staff were all very friendly. The room was a good size and very clean. The kids enjoyed the pool which was a kept quite clean for a hotel pool, and there was a lifeguard on duty which I'd never seen before at a hotel (and the lifeguards were very friendly too.) The location is excellent for visiting Ottawa. We would definitely stay again.

The hotel is one block away from Alexandra bridge. It is a 30 minute walk to Ottawa with an excellent view of the river. It is a great alternative if you do not find a hotel in Ottawa. Staff was very helpful. One day I needed change for a 50 dollar bill and the lady gave me smaller bills without any problem. Prior to my check out I asked for a taxi and they immediately reserved one. Check in and check out were fast and I found no problem at all. The only problem I found is that it is mainly a residential area and it is difficult to find groceries, specially something to drink or some snacks. There is a small grocery store one block from the hotel and a St. Hubert restaurant three blocks away. The other option to get some snacks is the hotel restaurant.

Was not convenient for getting ready for a wedding and no time to change rooms. There should be vanities and proper lighting in all washrooms regardless of price or whether it is wheel chair accessible. Problems also with checkin and check out.

Awesome staff,friendly and willing to help in order to make your stay as pleasant as possible, clean rooms and bathrooms and on top of that very good location (pretty close to major attraction points in Ottawa and Gatineau) ??. We stayed at this location while making our way home from the East Coast and also to visit Ottawa. The location worked well for our needs. The room we were in was quite dated, but we don't stay at hotels for the décor. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean. Our only issue was the air conditioning unit was so loud when the fan was on that we had to turn it off when we went to bed. The noise from the hallway filtered into the room from the gap underneath the door. We stayed in several Best Western's over the course of our two week trip and this was the loudest one we encountered.

My family stayed at the Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa on 7/11/18. I used BW Reward points for my stay and it was well worth it. We were upgraded upon arrival to a balcony room overlooking the Ottawa River and Parliament. This hotel has an exceptional view of Ottawa from across the river. Walking over to Ottawa was very easy over the pedestrian bridge. It took about 15 minutes but you will see the Rideau Canal/Locks as well as the monument honoring Canada's Unknown Soldier on the way. The hotel room included 2 double beds and excellent air conditioning. The Wi-Fi was a little spotty but was soon refreshed upon asking the front desk. You will have to pay $13 Canadian for parking and breakfast is not free either. They allowed me to charge my electric car in the hotel's parking garage which is always a plus. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is very well located and was easy to find. Clean and comfortable and I was especially impressed with how quiet the room was. Was impressed with how friendly the staff were in helping me and others in our group during our stay. We were lucky to get a river view room which was a bonus. Our sincere thank you to the Front Office manager Pierre and his Team for their awesome hospitality.

Ok this hotel is old, dirty, walls are paper thin, slum city is one street behind this hotel. Party people making rackets in hallways of the executive floors then hearing them bunk as if those guests were in my room is not my cup of tea. Guests are allowed to smoke on their balconies which means you can't open patio door or enjoy the balcony and view because smoke comes straight into room. Very old and slow elevators. No services. I do not recommend staying at this hotel at all. Bad bad hotel. With a complete tear down of the slum neighbourhood and complete demo of the hotel this would be prime real estate.

Let's start with the good. Great river-view room to see the Canada Day fireworks. We sat on the balcony and experienced a fabulous display of colorful lights and explosive sounds. Location is superb. Close to everything in the hub of the capital with just a short walk over the Alexandria bridge. Breakfast at the restaurant was very good and the staff were quite friendly. Took a while on one of the days for our meals to be served but we didn't mind that much. Okay, so let's get to the other items. The building looks quite new and shiny on the outside but the inside looks a bit tired, the hallways are small, elevators tiny. Our room smelled like an old vacuum cleaner and the bathroom was small with very little counter space. And for those of us who are taller than 5 1/2 feet, you need to duck below the shower head to wash your hair. Getting to the indoor pool was interesting - you have to take the elevator to the 1st floor ( which is above lobby level) and then take a maze of stairs going up, down and across - very unusual. Parking is available at an extra cost, but the main parking lot is small, however there is additional parking offsite. Word of caution though when driving in and out of the main lot as one of the entrances is quite steep. Although there were some positive highlights during our stay we felt the hotel fell a little bit short in overall quality.

Excellent service, room and price with stunning views. 10 min walk across bridge and you are in Downtown Ottawa! Also near museums and tourist attractions in Gatineau. Thanks to staff. Only downside is that the indoor pool is only open from 6 to 9 pm.

My first day in Ottawa and we lucky enough to end up here. Staff were lovely and helped us with any questions we had.The hotel is clean and comfortable and the staff are amazing. I have extend my stay for another 3 nights Thanks a million

We had a very pleasant stay and enjoyed the fantastic view of the parliament buildings from our balcony. Our room was very comfortable, and the staff are very helpful. We will be staying here on our next trip to Ottawa.

The location of this property is directly across the river from Canadian Parliament Buildings. A great view of the Ottawa River and Parc Jaques Cartier. The Staff are wonderful, the hotel has received many upgrades. The restaurant had a great choice for breakfast. I would highly recommend this for tourist with families as well. They have a great pool and is next to the Museum of Civilization.

Very pleasant staff, they went out of their way to be helpful, clean and quiet room, beautiful view of Ottawa, (ask for view) and close enough to walk to...becoming our regular hotel as we go to area regularly...I recommend!

I stayed in the executive suite room with a river balcony view. The service of the front desk was exceptional, as the staff offered a map and popular attractions in the neighborhood. 10 minutes from Nordic Spa in Chelsea, QC. I would absolutely stay here again.

This was my recent experience at this hotel. The room was not clean and very dated. I asked to switch rooms and they claimed they had none. I was surprised and disappointed that this hotel did not come close to other people's description here.

This is our first choice when we going to Ottawa. Good location. Newly renovated. Uplifted new exterior. Nice Swimming pool and Good Breakfast. Very close to all Ottawa attractions. In My opinion the best view on Parliament hill.

I had a very enjoyable stay here while a few of my colleagues did not due to their own reasons. I found the check in service excellent. Staff were pleasant, helpful and accommodating. A good start. My clean room facing the Jacques Cartier Park and the Ottawa River was small but well appointed and had everything I would need including an excellent air-conditioner and a small fridge. I found the bed very comfortable with just the right amount of firmness. The maid was happy to bring me a few extras as needed. I had 2 very good meals; dinner and breakfast - in the hotel dining room. The hotel is close to the impressive Canadian History Museum, Children's Museum and The Montcalm Gallery. A tourist office is a 3 minute walk and 20 minutes further, across the bridge is another province...

I spent 3 nights while on business in Gatineau and the hotel was very comfortable. The rooms aren't huge, but the bed is very comfortable, the shower is great plus there was a fridge in the room. The hotel is quiet (with the exception of some neighbours) and in a good location. The Rideau Centre and Byward Market are only about 20-25 min walk across Alexandra Bridge. The bridge has walking and biking paths separate from the auto traffic.It offers a great walk and a spectacular view. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. I would stay there again!

Stayed a couple of nites around Ottawa marathon. Good location across the bridge. 20 min walk to start/finish line. Area very quiet. Location has great view of parliament buildings. Close to museum of history. Lots of running and cycling paths in the area. Overall nice stay. Only annoyance parking was $13- A little excess. Staff were very nice hotel clean, had some internet issues one nite, staff worked to fix.

I had an event taking place at the Canadian Museum of History and the Best Western Plus Gatineau was the perfect place to get ready for the event and go back to after. The room was very clean, comfortable and had a beautiful view of Ottawa. The staff were also very friendly and helpful.

Nice and affordable hotel. Views are magnificent and near to all attractions in the city. My two boys enjoyed swimming in a well kept hotel with a life guard. Costumer service were good great and the fast check out was easy.

I took my family for a sport event. We booked 40+ rooms. My room in particular was on the 2nd floor and a view of the River. Ask for the River view if you care. (small surcharge) Room was small but sufficient. If you are not going to spend a lot of time in it, it's in a great location. Walking distance to the Byward Market. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant had a great selection for breakfast, good evening drinks and we had the opportunity to snack on some food before we went out on the town. Great salad bowls!!! Parking was not included, however, most hotels charge for parking. We were notified of the parking fee (cheaper than other places) and we were ok with this. Great value for your money!

Handy to a bridge that crosses the river to Ottawa, this hotel offers rooms with spectacular views of the river action and of the Capital's beautiful public structures: the Parliament Buildings, the Supreme Court, the National Gallery, the Prime Minister's residence, and, almost beside the hotel, the Canadian Museum of History. All of these attractions are within easy walking distance. We cycled well-maintained bike paths along the river's banks to Aylmer, upriver, and to the lovely Lake Leamy Park. Beginning with Melissa, who took our reservation by phone, to Pierre, who helped us to store our bikes, without fail the hotel staff were welcoming and generously accommodating. Our room--actually a roomy suite, since we were upgraded on arrival,--would have been perfect had it been tidied after our first night. Overall, this is a minor complaint. I strongly recommend this hotel.

My team consisting of 13 people stayed at the hotel for four nights and met in the conference room for three days. Great location, great facility for our small group. Staff at the hotel were attentive to our needs. Short walk to downtown Ottawa with a spectacular view.

Overall OK destination. This is my third time here and will go back. Modern and clean. Rooms are nice with all modern amenities. But not sound proof and, for some reason, no U.S. TV networks available and no on screen TV guide! SLOWEST ELEVATORS EVER... So get a lower level room if you can so you can hop up a flight or 2 via the stairs. Also, except for breakfast, go eat elsewhere too. Much better food, service and reasonably priced restaurants within walking distance. A fully stocked convenience store is kiddy-corner across the street from the hotel. Very convenient.

This was my third time here. Love the staff, location, room decor and modern amenities. When booking online, I add a note that I would like room facing the river. The view of Ottawa accross the water with all the government buildings and parliament is spectacular. Even at night. The available indoor parking (extra) is nice too. Just a few things to know: 1. Sound proofing in rooms is not good. I had a snorrer in the next room that kept me awake 2. Elevators are painfully slow. Very painfully slow... 3. Although free, the outdoor parking has very few spaces.

I will start by saying I travel a lot... I stay in hotels across every budget and rarely am I actually disappointed.. This hotel is tired and drab. The carpets are dirty and the rooms have no appeal. The fitness centre is one small room in the basement with 4 machines in it. I don't expect an amazing gym in a small hotel but at least a half decent one? The location is not great - on the wrong side of the river and with little around it (I should have checked this more closely before booking). The food in the restaurant was ok, not great but the breakfast did the job... I can safely say that should I return to Ottawa I would sadly not return here. The staff were polite which was a saving grace.

I chose this hotel because of its location and price. The location is excellent, both for views across the river, and for the ease at getting to major Ottawa area museums, etc. It is easy to find, with parking on site. It was clean and quiet during my stay.

We picked this location for our trip to Ottawa because there was a great rate, good reviews and the location seemed okay. It wasn't until we arrived that we realized that the location was incredible. Right on the river across from parliament hill, accessible and adorable parking, beautiful park across the street - more than we expected! When we booked it we felt like we had "settled" on something that would do the job, and we arrived, felt like we had won the lottery. The employee at the front desk was super nice and made check in a breeze. She even upgraded us to a room with a view of the river. When we got to our room on the 8th floor and looked out the window, the view was jaw dropping. We would definitely stay again on our next visit to Ottawa.

We have stayed at BW's across the country. This is the first where we had to pay extra for breakfast and parking. Although we knew this in advance of our stay, it still did not reflect the $$$ efficiency we have come to associate with BW. The advertised price on Trip Advisor does not reflect the actual per night stay. Add about $13 parking and about $10 pp breakfast.

Hotel has all amenities, was disappointed to realize that there was no breakfast bar or teas in the room. But rather a restaurant.... definitely not what I am use to from a Best Western. That said I had a great view of the river and Ottawa. Was close enough to walk to both the office and take a stroll on Parliament Hill.

I support all the previous positive comments. Many thanks to Mr. Pierre Beaudry and his excellent team. They were outstanding and so kind for my mother's 88 years old anniversary. As suggested by Mr. Beaudry, we had the Parliament Suite on the 9th floor (river view with a balcony). My mother found on the bed Birthday wishes from Mr. Beaudry & team and a nice bamboo plant as a gift. This was very thoughtful! We definitely recommend this hotel for his excellent & courteous service and the river view on the 9th floor...simply WOW!

Property was clean and in good repair, with nicely appointed rooms. A very comfortable stay and staff were welcoming. The best feature: the view of the capital across the river from the room. 9th floor offered a great vantage and the view was serene - great value for the price point and this property's definitely a consideration for a return trip.

We stayed here for 3 nights the last weekend of Winterlude. Fantastic location just on the otherside of the bridge linking Gatineau and Ottawa. Getting to locations in both Ottawa and Gatineau was a breeze. We had a king room with a mini fridge and a great view of parliament. The room was basic but clean. Perfect place to grab a nights sleep. We paid for breakfast in the morning at the hotel restaurant and were not disappointed. The front desk staff checking us in could not have been friendlier. Parking was a bit tricky but were able to find an underground space every night. All positives with this one. Would recommend to someone with tempered expectations.

There is only so much you can say about a hotel - but Ive stayed at this location more than a half dozen times, different rooms, dates and times and have always had a great stay. Staff have always been welcoming and accommodating with my requests - thus for this reason I keep coming back.

Awesome location for the Winter Festival. Within walking distance to the park right across the street, Ottawa proper, and the Canadian Civilization Museum. Staff was helpful and friendly. Room was clean and fresh. Have stayed here several times and have never been disappointed!

Awesome location! Our room face the snow sculptures that were lit up at night, and parliament hill. We were able to walk into Ottawa it take the winterlude bus. Hotel was clean and staff were friendly and helpful. Our only complaint is the restaurant. We went for breakfast sat ourselves and five mins later waiter noticed us and brought coffee. We sat for 15 min and watch other people arrive and have their orders taken. We told a waitress that this was happening she in return told the waiter and he just walk into the back. Horrible service! We left money for our coffee and had to go to the front desk and get names of restaurants to drive too so we could have breakfast . I should add the restaurant was not busy

Our family had a great stay in Gatineau-Ottawa. I wish I could rate the hotel better as there were some positives, but unfortunately the negatives weighed heavily: Some issues: - our plan was to enjoy parts of our stay by the pool, but on a Sat-Sun-Mon (Family day holiday in Ontario) the pool was closed almost all of Sunday (closed at 1 pm for some reason??) and didn't open until 6pm on the holiday Monday (after checkout - we were long gone by that time). This was an important part of choosing this hotel (several hotels in the area didn't have a pool) and it was disappointing to not be able to make better use of this amenity. - The room we had was very tired. Stains and wear on chairs, carpet was quite old. A bit smelly. On last day of stay no hot water for a shower. We didn't have anybody come clean our room on the Sunday (despite being out of the room all day). It wasn't just our room, we had friends in another room at the same hotel and they had similar issues. - The hotel restaurant was really understaffed despite it being a busy weekend for the hotel. I felt bad for the restaurant staff as they really tried their best, but we waited a really long time to get in to the restaurant and a long time for our food. The food however was reasonably priced and of good quality. There were some positives: - The location is the best (A+) you can get being outside of downtown Ottawa - we walked across the pedestrian bridge to the city and were in the heart of downtown Ottawa in 20 minutes. It probably would have taken more time to drive and find parking. - The view of Ottawa was great from the hotel and the outside of the hotel looks great. - The price we paid was a decent value for the location. Parking at $12 a day was very reasonable. Though walking from the parking to the hotel was a bit treacherous as the sidewalks are coated in thick ice. there was some underground parking which we didn't use. - Though I mentioned the hotel was understaffed the people who worked at the hotel were helpful and kind (and very willing to speak english as our french is lacking) . - Though this doesn't relate to the hotel there are some awesome restaurants and attractions just a short walk from the hotel. I probably wouldn't stay here again (though if the interior of the hotel got an update and the pool hours were made more reasonable I would reconsider).

This hotel is a prefect location for Winterlude events. Walking distance to snow sculptures and tubing, shuttle to other events right nearby! All 4 of our rooms had river & city/parliament views, as well as a view of the sculptures lit at night, just magical! The hotel staff was very professional and extremely helpful with our many requests (early check-in, special arrangements for 4 rooms....etc). Clean and well maintained hotel. We had a wonderful stay, thank you!

Went to the Winterlude activities and stayed at the BW+ again in Gatineau. This is our go-to place when in Ottawa as it is so close to all the activities. This is located right across the street from Jacque Cartier Park ( I think that is right) which had the Snowflake Kingdom display. We got our usual riverside view and had a great view of the park and the sculptures. With underground parking here, it was great as the snow made the parking lots a bit difficult in some cases. Front desk staff great as always. As we are repeat customers, sometimes things don't always go as expected. The toilet flush handle broke but I am a handy guy so this was quickly fixed. Somehow the rubber chain was a bit short so a hard flush pulled it off. We were good the rest of the stay. We had dinner at the restaurant on the second night and the food was satisfactory. The prices are reasonable and the quality was not great, but was edible. The express check-out is a definite plus. This is a great service as we checked out, leaving the access cards in the room and headed directly to the parking garage. In summary, another pleasant stay at our "second home" I think this makes it stay number 6?? We will definitely be back in the spring/summer for our yearly bike tour of the area.

I have stayed here several times over the past two years. The hotel is recently renovated, it is clean, comfortable, and has nice views on the river side. On a nice day, relax and have take out dinner in the park across the street. Above all, it is the staff that makes this hotel great. They are always 100% professional, courtious and friendly. I feel very welcomed. A good price or good location will bring you in to a hotel for the first time, but great customer service will keep you coming back again and again as I do here. Before I found Best Western Plus, I stayed at many different hotels in the Ottawa/Gatineau area. Now I have only this one hotel that I stay in.

We went for Winterlude and this location was in close proximity to most of the events. Easy to get to and Jacques Cartier park was right across the road where they had ice sculptures and events for children. Rooms were clean and service was excellent. Parking rate was reasonable. Good sized pool. We really enjoyed our stay.

This is our second time at this fabulous location in Hull. We went to see the Mosaivernales this time, which is just across the street. Also close to Parliament buildings and the History museum, which we visited last summer, also within walking distance. After crossing the bridge we were in the Byward Market and dropped in to one of Ottawa's oldest taverns called the Lafayette. After a night of fun, we got back to the hotel and relaxed very comfortably in a nice room with a view of the river and Parliament buildings. Staff was great and very helpful with our stay. Loved it and would go back tomorrow. Lyne

We stayed at this hotel so we could be close to the Nordic Spa. It was so close, so very convenient. Wonderful, friendly staff made you feel welcome the minute you step in. Such Comfortable beds made you go right to sleep. Beautiful decor and very clean hotel. The views of the River and all the Christmas lights around made for such a beautiful getaway. I will definitely be back for a stay here, looking forward to it. Thank you for making a short vacation so enjoyable. Regards ??

The location was very convenient for our visits to family and friends in Ottawa. I loved the view from our room of the Christmas lights in the park across the street, the frozen Ottawa river and Parliament. It was especially magical on New Year's Eve to see the fireworks at the Parliament building from the warmth of our room on the 9th floor. The room decor was pleasant and the bed was comfortable. Even though there were 3 busloads of hockey youngsters staying at the hotel, everything seemed to stay clean and orderly. The front desk staff was helpful and friendly in calling cabs for us and making sure they arrived. They were patient in teaching us how to use the key to get to the 9th floor. They also made sure that we were able to stay in the same room for all 6 nights, even though there were 2 reservations--2 nights on points and 4 paid nights. The restaurant had reasonable prices, a good selection of items that were well presented and prepared, and friendly service.

The hotel is OK for the price paid, but there are some annoying parts. Firstly, having to pay for parking seemed excessive. Also, the pool was only open between 6 to 10 pm on weeknights. Plus, there were no robes in the rooms and no complimentary breakfast. I have stayed in many hotels in the past few years, and everyone provides some form of breakfast! I was surprised. On the positive side, I appreciated the free WiFi, our room had a balcony and a great view of Parliament buildings. Additionally, the hotel is conveniently located to a nice park, the Canadian Museum of History, and a convenience store.

Room was kept clean every day with new supplies. Well done especially with the snow and extreme cold. Restaurant open and used for breakfast which was prepared as requested. Friendly workers and good service. Being with hockey teams and going to games in Ottawa other restaurant service was difficult. Would like to visit in warmer weather.

Great service and good restaurant. Interior needs updating. Rooms are clean but dingy. No plugs for phone chargers on the night stand! And pay for parking. Also the cancellation policy is way to much notice required.

Very good hotel with many amenities and excellent service in both official languages as well. It as both an outdoor and indoor parking facility, closed to restaurants for delivery or take out orders. Front facing rooms have a beautiful view of a a park, the Ottawa river, and downtown Ottawa including a back view of the parliament buildings showing the library and the peace tower.

We received a friendly greeting and got a quiet room that we asked for in our advance booking. The room was at the end of the hall and had a balcony and large window in the bathroom which was great. It was clean and came with two double beds, not two queens. The bathroom was on the small side and needed some attention to trim. The pool, though heated, was a little on the cool side but ok. You have to go down stairs to get to it so it may be an issue for people with mobility difficulties. You have to pay for breakfast and there is no restaurant close by. The hotel is right at the bridge to Ottawa and it is an inexpensive ride to the market and parliament. I would go back if the price was right.

Rooms seem to be only double beds and not queens, so if sleeping two in bed then maybe not that comfortable. Good access to Ottawa and Parliament of Canada. It is a older hotel and rooms hallways show it.

Friendly staff, good price, and clean rooms are all a plus. The location is great for seeing the Parliament buildings and other Ottawa attractions. However, the restaurant isn't available in the evenings, and while you could walk to other restaurants in the summer, it's not very convenient during a cold and snowy Ottawa night.

The hotel and the staff were very pleasant. After my long journey this was so important. I enjoyed my stay immensely. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. The location of this hotel is perfect for business in the downtown area.

This Best Western is very well located. It is clean and quiet. Always well received by staff. Restaurant and food very nice and good. We have stayed here before and have always been well treated. Would recommend to friends and will return.

There is no bar or restaurant at thus hotel and getting a taxi us a case of luck. Staff are friendly. But best to avoid unless you want a cheap stay and have a car to get you around. The website does not tell you this!

After being up all night at an Ottawa Travelodge with noisy guests I called the Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa as it looked good on the website. Martin and his staff got us into a nice room with a view of the Parliament Buildings on Grey Cup weekend.

While on a business trip to Ottawa, one of our employees fell seriously ill in the early morning hours. The BW Gatineau General Manager and Staff immediately contacted an ambulance to transport him to the hospital for medical attention. They then gathered his belongings and held them in secure storage awaiting further instructions. They also assisted in returning his rental car and graciously took his belongings to him later once he was moved to the general ward of the hospital. Their quick action, effective communication and compassion for his condition was extremely helpful in getting the help he needed and following through to ensure all his needs were met afterwards. Our company is very appreciative of their exceptional customer service. I must add, another very admirable thing about this experience was that the General Manager gave his staff full credit for their performance in this time of crisis.

I chose a suite as I had lots of work to do at night. I didn't get a suite: it was a room with a bid kitchen, no couch no separate area for the TV, just a bed and a desk. Very of with a new appearance on the outside. Bad service at the front desk. Located in a residentail neighbourhood, so no restaurat choice within walking distance.

It was my very first stay at this property as I was travelling to Gatineau for a business conference. The desk and restaurant staff were all very friendly and I was upgraded automatically to the Executive floor. The king size bed had a super comfortable luxury pillow top mattress and pillows that my head just sunk into after a late night flight. Breakfast was delicious as well and was served quickly despite the fact that there were many others in the restaurant. Thank you!

I stayed here for a week 13-17 Nov attending business in Gatineau. Decided to stay on the Hull/Gatineau side instead of fight the traffic of the bridges each morning. To be quite honest I would have rather stayed at the Ramada or the Plaza as it's closer to downtown, shops and restaurants. The Best Western is near none of those things. You will need to travel for everything. There are a few restaurants around but pickings are slim. This hotel isn't all bad though, it is near parks and walking trails, near museums and the parliament. It surely would be convenient for all those things but not for what was looking for. On top of all my negativity, I still had to pay for parking, an extra $12 a night. Seemed ridiculous to me but what's a person to do, park on the street and come out to a towed vehicle in the morning? Again, it's going to depend on what you are looking for in convenience of a hotel, this wasn't what I was "entirely" looking for. Not the hotels fault truly, I should have done more research and booking my hotel earlier would have helped.

This hotel is at an excellent location and in close proximity to Ottawa's downtown core as well as various locations in Gatineau. As soon as we walked in, the staff member on-site, (Marie-C), made us feel very welcome and took a personal approach to our interaction. She genuinely seemed to care. She was very thorough explaining to us all the amenities of the hotel as well as the express checkout available. After explaining to her the inability to add my CAA card online to obtain an additional discount on the room, she graciously upgraded us to a room with a view of the canal at no extra cost! This was an amazing gesture on her part and really made our night. The room is quiet, clean and comfortable with everything you may need. There is an ice machine in the basement as well as basic gym and, a few vending machines for those late night munchies!! Upon checkout we were greeted with a very friendly gentleman that was very well versed in both official languages and was quite humorous in nature. Another positive interaction. Although this is an older building, you can tell that the Management really cares and is continually trying to upgrade where they can and offer a high level of service. In the future, I will always come to this hotel when in the area, even if it is slightly out of the way. It is worth it!

In addition to the good service and good room, this hotel offers the best in convenient location. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a river-view room with a balcony. We could lay in bed in the morning with the drapes open and enjoy a view of the Pont Alexandre and the Parliament Buildings. For the three nights we were staying in Gatineau/Ottawa, we ate in Old Gatineau. The tourist bureau is to be complimented for a simple idea to help travellers find their way. They have painted a red line on the sidewalk that traces the route through the downtown. It starts right outside the hotel. We simply followed the line and found delicious restaurants along the way. The only negative about the hotel, and maybe it was that we were there in November, but the pool was only open from 6:00 - 9:00 in the evening. Not convenient times for a quick swim before heading out for dinner. Again, the location was perfect for getting around Ottawa - just a quick drive along rue Laurier to one of the bridges which then drop you near your destination. In warmer weather, the Byward Market is a short walk across the bridge.

We booked a room with a view of the Ottawa River, it was such a beautiful view especially in the morning watching the sun rise.We enjoyed our stay very much. The staff was very friendly.The bed was very comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

We chose this hotel for its location, perfect walking distance to parliament hill and Byward market. We got a room with a view - museum of history, the river, back of parliament. We enjoyed our short stay there!

The service we received from the reception desk was excellent. We found our room a little noisy and in need of an update. Staff mentioned that they are planning a renovation of the interior after the busy season which will be great. The exterior was recently renovated and looks really nice. More upscale than before. Nice and close to downtown Ottawa and walking distance to the Canadian Museum of History.

Able to put our two rooms near each other as well as answer our queries about parking. One of the rooms had a balcony with a beautiful view which overlooked the Mosaic Garden, and able to even see some of the Parliament Builidings. The rooms were clean and stocked with enough toiletries. Was able to enjoy quiet night. Breakfast was delivered quickly and the food was good.

Great hotel right on the border Gatineau - Ottawa, across the street to a beautiful park and the river, our view from the room was spectacular, saw all of the parliament buildings, walking distance to great restaurants, By Ward market, & not to far from the Casin Lac Leamy. We had a great stay.

My husband and I needed one night hotel while passing through Ottawa. We chose this hotel as they promised a balcony with a view of the Parliament Buildings. When we arrived, we were offered a room with a King Bed but not with the view of the Parliament or a balcony. The room was small, dated and quite noisy. The business centre is claustrophobic and the printer did not work. No complimentary breakfast as we have come to expect at Best Western. On checkout, we were overcharged approx $46 on our bill. The hotel did adjust the bill after I proved I had a reservation at a lower rate. This hotel will meet your needs but won't wow you in any ways. We will find alternative accommodations if we ever come back to Ottawa.

One night stay for business. Great service throughout from check-in, breakfast, guest room cleanliness, business center privacy and express check-out. Very conveniently located a shot walk across the bridge from Ottawa downtown.

Beautiful view of the Parliament buildings across the river. Easy to access and close to Ottawa. Friendly and helpful staff that were bi-lingual. I would recommend to a business traveler. There was a indoor pool but I did not use it over my stay.

The staff was friendly and gave a great service. Hallway was smelling so bad all the three nights I stayed there. Room doesn't have water, you must purchase water and other beverages on other floor. The hotel itself really need some renovations. You don't get what you paid for.

We came to Gatineau for a vacation, and to view the last weekend of the beautiful topiaries at Parc Jacques Cartier. The hotel is right across the street, so the view was terrific. All of the staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. We were able to check our bicycles in, which was a great plus. We felt comfortable the whole time, and wish to thank the staff for their extra efforts. Also - a short walk to Ottawa over the bridge! What more could we ask for.......

A good location but with a disgusting smell in the elevators, corridors and the room. Employees smoke in the property although is supposed to be a smoke free hotel. The state of dirty and disrepair of the property is outraging.

Friendly helpful staff, but outdated hotel in need of renovation. Rooms & hallways are small although very clean, and comfortable beds. Walls are too thin, lots of noise coming from hallways and guests next door using bathrooms.

My wife and I celebrated our 44 th wedding anniversary at this great hotel. The staff were all extremely accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. Our room had a fabulous view of The Canada 150 Mosaic and Parliament Hill.Our over all experience was awesome and we will definitely stay here again when we return to Gatineau-Ottawa!

There were extras that are not in many hotels - a salt-water pool with life guard on duty in evenings, Room had a rubber bath mat for safety in tub, Parking near door was available for disabled. Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa Gatineau B/W Gatineau Experience 530004029 My wife and I were on business to Ottawa and selected the B/W Plus in Gatineau QC for our 2 night stay. Our room, restaurant and lobby were clean and large. Being uni-lingual in English I thought might be an issue but hotel staff easily switched languages without hesitation and were proficient. I can recommend this hotel as Ottawa is so very close that being in Quebec is no more than 5 minutes from Ottawa. You can easily walk into Ottawa if you like. Gatineau has fine eateries and shopping and again everywhere we shopped and ate staff were bilingual. I will definitely stay there again.

We booked a nice room with balcony overlooking the river and Parliament Hill. Comfy beds. Bathroom a bit on the small side. Restaurant was closed for diner. It opened for breakfast but not to our liking. Detached waiting staff. Paid small parking lot. 25 min walk to Parliament Hill.

Great room, view of other buildings, but the bed was very comfortable, we had a good night of sleep! The staff was great in the evening and the next morning, very friendly and helpful with indications for things to do.

Breakfast was not included but there was a nice separate breakfast area on site for a reasonable price with a good selection of food. Room was clean and tidy. Great location near the Museum of History and botanical garden. Good view of Parliament buildings and walkable distance to the National Art Gallery and downtown Ottawa.

We stayed at this hotel over this past weekend as a getaway for our 41st wedding anniversary. It is a good location to go to the mosaic attraction and Canadian history museum. Just short walk to parliament building. However, we spent our anniversary there and we told central reservations and the front desk upon checking, so it would have been nice if hotel management would have acknowledged that, even with a free bottle of sparkling water. For the price, breakfast, even continental would have been nice. Rooms clean.

This hotel was awful and not worth the money we spent to stay here. The front desk was rude, the hall way smelled like cat pee, parking was terrible (and not included). It cost so much to stay here and it was gross.

Location is great. Staff terrific but...Room 922, an executive balcony King room, was assigned to me apparently because I was a preferred customer. The room had an unusual odor. The room had some sort of odor eliminationg machine sitting on the desk so I turned it on. I tried to get the air conditioning/heater to work but it didn't work so I opened the balcony door and bathroom window so I could get some fresh air. I went to bed but I awoke a couple of hours later with my eyes and throat irritated. I packed up and requested a new room which was granted. The staff did a wonderful job accomodating me but I am disappointed that management would actually rent out that room.

Had meetings in Ottawa but couldn't afford the $300+ so stayed here. A nice 25 min walk across the bridge. Hotel is dated and needs a refresh but is quiet. Right across from PARC Jacques Cartier and Canadian history Hall if you are a tourist.

Clean, pleasant environment, attractive decor, convenient location. Short walk to Museum of History, across the street from Jacques Cartier Park. Convenient access to Byward Market, Rideau Centre, Parliament Hill and other Ottawa attractions via Alexandra Bridge.

Our stay was overall ok. Parking was an issue and it is something we paid for. We had 2 vehicles and it appears as thought we paid for 3 as my nephew paid cash for one parking. This was not noticed until after we left. Location to the garden is perfect but very close to the hotel we visited a convenience store and there were a lot of shady people. I do not believe the money we paid for the hotel is worth it.

My Mom and I came to Gateneau for Mosiaculture at Jacque Cariter park ( Sept. 2017) and asked for a view overlooking the park and the river and they did not disappoint. We were on the 8th floor with a fantastic view of the area. Within a 10 minute was to the Museum of Canadian History which the front clerk mentioned was free on Thursdays after 5pm so that was a bonus! The breakfast menu is extremely varied, was on the upper price level but well worth it. You had a full meal, wonderfully presented, with great servers that would keep you full well into the afternoon. Also if you are looking for a reasonly priced dinner option the Green Papaya ( roughly across the street from the museum) is a wonderful choice for Thai food (casual dining, no reservations needed) I wouldn't say it is geared for little kids but there was a extended family with 2 well behaved little ones in tow.

Stayed here for a work trip that extended to a personal trip. The location is awesome, great view of Parliament hill from the north side of the river, walking distance (maybe 10-15 min) to Byward market, right across the street from the Mosaic gardens, and maybe 3 minutes walking to the history museum. Rooms and lobby are nice, hallways are a bit dingy, but fine. Breakfast at the hotel is simple but surprisingly good - nice and fresh, not very greasy, gluten free bread. Staff was really great. There was an error with our booking and they worked hard to make sure we were accommodated as best as possible. Would stay here again for sure.

Took the spouse and kids for 4 days to our nations capital. Loved the view of Parliament from across the river. Loved the little bit of Gatineau we were able to see. Right across from Mosiac exhibit at Jacques Cartier Park. Walking across the bridge to Ottawa was good for us, but would be challenging for some. Staff was very nice and friendly. Hotel was mostly clean and tidy. Bed was comfortable. Pool was nice (if a bit small for more than 1 family at a time). Elevators were a bit small and slow. Overall was a very decent place to stay. I would come again.

Great location close to Mosaiccanada and walking distance to the National History Museum and all the attractions in downtown Ottawa. The room was up to date and clean. Staff was friendly. We will be back again when we do some exploring in Gatineau Park.

The location was really good, we just walk across the road to see Mosaicanada at Jacques-Cartier Park, also walking distance to Capital Cruises tours on Ottawa River. Close to restaurants and Alexandra Bridge to Ottawa. The rooms were comfortable, large and clean, breakfast coffee was available at lobby. We enjoy that, would be happy to return again.

We fell into this hotel by chance and total blind faith in GPS. Driving down from Mont Tremblant and aiming for for the hills of Gatineau, little did we think that Gatineau included downtown Hull and all the area across the river from Ottawa. So following GPS' dulcet voice we pulled into this great urban experience. There are so many neighbouring spots of interest; and with the river on your doorstep, you will not find a comparable in Ottawa.

My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and decided to go to Gatineau for a few reasons. After scoping a few different hotels we opted to stay at Best Western....great spot for so many reasons. First highlight was an upgrade when they realized it was our anniversary....lovely surprise! The staff are very friendly and helpful. We don't speak french but that did not cause an barriers in how well we were treated. Rooms are very clean and well maintained. Lovely pool. Restaurant on location. Location is A1....walking distance to many things to do. Although you are downtown, the rooms are very quiet. Absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone.

Breakfast was lovely, there were facilities in the hotel including a pool and gym (although I didn't have time to use them, they looked lovely). Staff was friendly and able to provide me information regarding a restaurant in the area.

Look great outside and in lobby. Rooms seem a little dated. Be advised, breakfast and parking is NOT INCLUDED. I book via an Airline website which uses Expedia as the search engine and was told that was why the breakfast was not included. But I am very frequent Best Western guest and always book the same way and never had this issue.

Stayed at the best Western in Gatineau for one night. Wanted to see the Canada 150 Mosaic Gardens, which turned out to be across the road. could not have chosen a better spot. All staff were very kind and helpful. They pointed us to local restaurants and other site. Had a problem with the A/C in the room. Repairs were made with 20 minutes of problem notification. Location was also great. Walked across the bridge to the Parliament building, and various other sites.

Our first time staying in Gatineau and we lucked into choosing Best Western! Great location, modern clean room, courteous staff, excellent restaurant facilities and a lovely supervised salt water pool that was a hit with our grandson. We'll be back!

We, family of 4 with 2 school aged kids, stayed at the Best Western Plus for 3 nights. 1 night in a standard double queen room on 2nd floor. Room was basic but had a fridge, a mini balcony and a view to the parliament buildings. We had booked a junior suite for the next two nights but were upgraded to the Gatineau view room on the 9 th floor. This suite was perfect. Comfortable king bed in a large room. 2 TVs. Pull out for the kids in the living room with a typically crappy mattress but the kids still slept fine. The views of Gatineau including sunsets and thunderstorms were fantastic. Very close to Canada 150 events. Walkable distance to Rideau locks, Parliment, Jacques Cartier park, History museum, War museum, Byward Market. We were able to park our compact rental car underground. We got permission to leave it there until 3 pm even though check out 11 am. Staff were extremely helpful. Kids enjoyed the pool. Bathrooms could be upgraded from older model jetted tubs but were adequate. Our friends stayed 3 nights in a junior suite on 5 th floor. No complaints.

the hotel looks great from the outside, it's due to the facelift; however it isn't complete and some of the floors aren't done yet so are pretty tired. The location is pretty good and the rate as well, however if you are looking for a property with a restaurant, it seems to be open only for breakfast. The parking is limited. My biggest turnoff was after signing the line explaining the smoking policy i walked into my room only to smell that old smoke smell and worse the bedding smelled of it as well. If you are a smoker, I guess they wont act on the non smoking policy or if they do, they don't clean the room, just charge you. I won't stay there again.

I was given inaccurate information about the booking and its procedure at least 5 times by different staff from the same Front desk.. They need EXTENSIVE training to sync with hotel policieis and themselves

They advertise to have a restaurant but there is none. We paid for the parking and we had to put our car in the street. I will never go back there and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Would had been much better hotel around the city center.

He hotel is very well located. Minutes away from downtown Ottawa, in fact right across the bridge. Parliament buildings are 10 minutes away. The main drawback is parking is limited. They do manage to find a place for everyone, even 2 45 foot charter coaches. Staff is excellent and knowledgeable.

The hotel itself was nice. Beds and room were clean and comfortable. The staff were attentive. Unfortunately we had to park in a parking lot near the rear of the hotel across the street. This parking lot was poorly lit and there were homeless people nearby, drinking. Our vehicle remained safe however. Room was comfortable enough. The free breakfast the next morning was served to us and was delicious, however not all items on menu are complimentary (our children's chocolate milk was $3 each). The hotel would be within walking distance (for adults) to many attractions in the area, but would be too far for children. The view of our room was awesome as it overlooked the river and the Parliament buildings.

Nice view, but a microwave would have been nice since breakfast was not available during our stay as restaurant was closed. Weight machine was good. My son enjoyed the pool. The elevators were a bit slow.

This is a good hotel but definitely not 4 stars. It is a solid 3 stars hotel. It is beautiful from the outside but less inside, especially the common areas that should be renovated. Location: It has a great location being very close to the History Museum and near the river. However, the area is a bit rough. Rooms: The rooms differ in size. The best ones of course are the ones facing the parliament, the view being amazing. The beds are very comfortable. Rooms were overall very clean and recently renovated. The downside is the bathroom, which would benefit from additional redesign and renovation. The windows were old and did not match the rest of the room design. Pool and gym: The pool was nice but the walls would benefit from re-painting. The gym is very small and not well equipped. Restaurant: I cannot comment as I did not try it. Parking: 12$ per day, outside or inside, the inside one is the best option. Wifi: free and the connection was very good. Overall a good clean hotel, 3 stars in my opinion. A good option in the Ottawa-Gatineau area.

Ordinary "chain hotel" with clean mostly comfortable rooms - beds on the firm side - located within convenient walking distance of downtown Ottawa and Gatineau. Bathroom small but sufficient, housekeeping could be better. Paid for parking adequate. Helpful and friendly front of house staff. Breakfast included with some packages was good - nothing fancy but executed well avoids what would otherwise be significant hassle find breakfast elsewhere.

Fantastic location for those wanting to experience the tourist sites of Ottawa/Gatineau. Just a 10 minute walk across Alexandra Bridge and you're right in the heart of Ottawa. Room was sufficient, though lacked the "finishing touches" in the decor I expected for a "suite" and the price. Only a handful of English TV channels, and "high speed" WIFI was nothing close to "high speed". Overall, a great experience.

Clean, friendly and family oriented. Check in and check out was done in a record time....less than 2 minutes tops! Very patient with all my questions about directions and where to go/what to do. We wanted to get 6 access cards for each member of our family - no problem - no impatient from their end. Overall a GREAT experience.

We needed a place close to parliament on a busy weekend. The rates were increased due to time of year but on par with other hotels. Additional fees for parking. Breakfast was also additional cost, but with great menu options. The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and accommodating.

I recommend the rooms on a high floor overlooking the Ottawa River and parliament buildings. That was really the only highlight to the hotel stay. It's also directly across the street from the Jacques Cartier park and is a must see attraction this year. The hotel itself could use some renovations. The furniture in the lobby is very dated and old/worn looking. The rooms serve it's purpose but don't have microwaves, don't have closet doors, and the shelf in the closet is a painted piece of plywood. No hot tub, but there is a pool. To get to the pool is quite the walk though. A bit of a maze to get there up and down stairs. The restaurant serves a delicious breakfast but cost a family of 4 $80. We ended up getting breakfast out after the first day. Like I said, hotel serves it's purpose, but below the usual standard you see in other hotels. It is only a $10 taxi ride to the Ottawa attractions so it's close to everything.

Only stayed one night. WiFi would connect but not let ua receive any data. Great pool with lifeguard. Walking distance to History Museum and restaurants. Nearby store with excellent selection of wines and beer.

The Best Western Plus Gatineau-Ottawa offers great value for the cost. It is centrally located for walking and/or bicycling to nearby attractions, museums, shopping, and restaurants in Ottawa and Gatineau. The hotel staff are all bilingual and all are very friendly, helpful, considerate, and eager to answer any questions. The facility itself was very clean and well maintained. I especially recommend the river view rooms with balcony overlooking the Ottawa River and Ottawa skyline. Parking is a bit cramped but there are adequate overflow parking lots just a short walk away from the main entrance.. The hotel provides a locked/secure area for bicycle storage that is accessible only with staff supervision. Overall, our stay was very pleasant at the BW Plus Gatineau-Ottawa and we would recommend it to others looking for economical, clean, and comfortable lodging in the Gatineau/Ottawa area.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to museums, the parliament, the Byward market, restaurants, etc Enjoyed the fact that we could park the vehicle and walk everywhere for 3 days. The staff was very welcoming, the room was clean and to top it all our room had a complete kitchen including fridge, stove, cookware and dishes. We will definitely stay here on our next visit.

I brought my daughter & grand-daughters to tour Ottawa-Gatineau. We could not have had a better experience. The staff was polite, courteous, friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. We're going back but with the rest of the family.

Just across the bridge from Ottawa [short walk or cab ride to all the attractions. Far better value!! Spend part of your savings for a room with a balcony overlooking the park, river and city - fantastic view! Restaurant was good, but too small an operation to handle the crowd.

Restaurant for dinner advised: surprise, restaurant closed! Halls are dirty. Price for room and breakfast much too high for quality. Walls are thin...so i could hear morning " jambes en l'air" in the next room.

My stay at the Fredericton, NB, Best Western Plus (and later at Cornwall, Ontario) was so good that I was stunned at my substandard experience at the Gatineau Best Western. No hotel, let alone a Best Western, should have a room that does not smell nor feel clean. Even though the staff kindly quickly installed a cleaned shower curtain when we reported a stinky one, the room still felt and smelled stale at best. I know that this $368 CD hotel rate for a small room with 2 double beds was intended to be commensurate with the July 1 holiday, but the Best Western Plus name does not merit such an unpleasant experience. The quality of the staff was generally helpful, We were road-weary, though, and it was not enjoyable finding a tiny underground parking garage, with the only other alternative to hunt for parking spaces on hotel-owned spaces not right on the hotel's main property. How unfortunate that such a poor experience is located in such an attractive neighborhood.

Stayed at the hotel just after Canada Day and really enjoyed the location really close to the Alexandra Bridge, Museum of Natural History and Jacques-Cartier Park. Ottawa-Gatineau is such a walkable area and there are so many awesome sights to see. The staff were really friendly and helped us find everything we needed.

I stayed for a week at the Best Western Plus of Gatineau and a a room right in front of the Ottawa River and Parliament Hill for Canada 150. WHAT A BLAST! This hotel was THE spot to be to have the front row seats for the festivities and fireworks!

We booked this Best Western for Canada Day, especially to watch the fireworks from our room. We were not disappointed! The rooms overlook the river directly across from where the fireworks were being let off. It is an excellent hotel to stay at while visiting Ottawa, just an easy walk across the bridge. As an added bonus, the gardens at Jacques Cartier Park were right across the street. Staff were very helpful, food was good, room was clean and comfortable, and St. Hubert was a short walk away. Parking was free and available.

We enjoyed the opportunity to be on the Quebec, Gatineau side of the River and to see the sights and views of Ottawa from the hotel. The proximity to the riverbank provided wonderful opportunities to leisurely walk along the riverbank. It was well located and easily reached through Uber from Ottawa Airport

No movie channels. Only 3 English speaking cable channels. So if you plan on chilling in your room, only understand English, and you only understand English. You're screwed. Guess they expect us to do the streaming. Anyway... Everything else was great though. Nice room, staff was great. Won't go back though. We wanted to relax in our room, order in and watch movies. You can't do this here.

Our teacher group spent two nights at the Best Western Plus Gatineau - Ottawa. The lobby is quite attractive. Even though the hotel was large, it had the feeling of a small hotel. The staff seemed to work well together. I found them quite helpful. The hotel is in a great location to see the major sights on both sides of the river on foot! The walking bridge between Gatineau and Ottawa is kitty corner from the hotel. Across the street from the hotel is the statue of Maurice Richard. Kitty - corner from the hotel is the Canadian Museum of History. The equally excellent War Museum is not that far away. Walking over the bridge into Ottawa takes you to the National Gallery of Canada. Once over the bridge, after the National Gallery, look to your left to see Notre Dame. Keep on walking to the right and you will be on your way to Parliament. Go to the left to head to Byward Market... If you had to take a taxi back to the hotel, the drivers all knew how to get you back even if you did not remember the address! The hotel is a landmark in itself. Returning on foot late at night was not a problem. Before setting out every day after morning sessions in the conference room, our group was served breakfast and snack right in the conference room itself. The staff member working with us was very kind. Although I try to avoid bacon, the bacon was cooked well and smelled wonderful (Yes, I admit I tasted some. Very good.) The rhubarb muffins we had were delicious. The rooms were pleasant and homey. The air conditioning and fan worked fine. I appreciated having a refrigerator in the room.The shower pressure was really nice. The beds were extremely comfortable. I am pleased to note that each night I had a more than decent night's sleep. I would recommend that the room decor be updated soon. It had definitely gotten a lot of use.The room, though very clean, needed airing out when we arrived. Perhaps that was due to the time of the year/humidity and rain. On the last day I had to return to the hotel to take care of a problem that needed to be dealt with right away. One staff member took me under her wing and helped me. I am extremely grateful. I would stay there again.
