Best Western Topaz Lake Inn

The room was very clean and all staff members were friendly. Staff were accommodating and provided extra toiletry at request. Breakfast was at it's best standard and all you can eat. Overall it was a great experience.

Easy check in. Front desk knows the area. Rooms are large,clean and comfortable. The views of the lake are excellent. Try to stay on the top floor since they are quieter and the view is better. We went to dinner just down the road from this property.

Beautiful view of the lake from our room. Also excellent restaurant just down the road with views of Lake Topaz. Prime Rib special on Monday Nights. Recommended by the staff at the hotel to arrive early. There is also a casino at the restaurant.

The rooms at this location are very large and spacious giving us extra room to enjoy time with our dog. There's a pet area right outside the room which was greatly appreciated. Bring food as there are limited dining options in the area.

We stayed at this hotel one night. This hotel is very close to Topaz Lake and mountains so the view is astounding. We love the peace and quiet here even it's a little far from restaurants. This hotel is well kept and clean. Staffs are very helpful.

Super comfy bed. Really quiet out by the lake nestled on side of mountains and only 20 minutes to town. About 90 minutes south to the summer entrance of Yosemite (Mountain passes all close in the winter except one by Reno and Carson City). Casino next door has many eating options for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but if you stay, you get many breakfast options at the hotel with eggs, sausage, toasts, assorted juices and hot/cold cereal and waffle maker. Soda and snack vending machine was well stocked. Really big rooms...bigger than most hotels. Laundry facilities are always nice at a hotel. Chevron gas station and charging station about 500 yards away. Friendly and helpful staff. All guests seemed to be enjoying it here, probably because it so quiet and peaceful. I would definitely stay again, but maybe not during a 50 year winter. I can't wait to come back in the fall for the changing colors of the Aspens. Bring your fishing pole, hiking shoes and binoculars. This is a great base camp for getting out and exploring.

Stayed at the Best Wester Topaz Lake on October 29, 2022. Found the staff to be very polite and helpful. Cathy at check-in suggested eating options in the area. She was very nice and checked us in quickly. We stayed in room 104, we found it to be very clean and comfortable, without the smell of smoke. Price was comparable to other hotels in the area. Breakfast was included with the price of the room and had several choices but unfortunately the scrambled eggs and sausage were cold and better skipped. Will definitely stay again next time we are in the area.

Shelly was awesome !!!!! Room had perfect view of Lake and Mountains ! Breakfast was very good and Staff was excellent ! Location and directions to motel were easy to follow . You have to go see this Motel for yourself for the true pleasure of being there.

We had an amazing stay. We are off readers, and there were a vast number of trail choices we could choose from. The hotel Manager is also an off reader with much information he shared. He even rode with us!! There was food and fuel nearby. It was a great choice for off readers, and we can't wait to go again!!!! We highly recommend staying there.

The biggest thing going for this Best Western was the beautiful lake view. The front desk clerk and breakfast clerks were very friendly. Coffee in the morning was very hot and better than most served at hotel breakfast bars, but the remaining offerings were mediocre at best. Our room had a very unpleasant odor, dead gnats covered the top of the AC unit which rattled when turned on, and so little water flowed from the shower head it was basically useless. This hotel needs some serious updating.

We stopped here as it was convenient. I try to use Best Western facilities when they are available to me. This one is a big disappointment in many ways. It is in need of serious maintenance including exterior painting, carpet replacement, water pressure repair, and full cleaning of amenities like extra blankets in the room. Breakfast was the average self-serve stuff. I would not stay again.

We resteed well in this hotel. It was spacious. We booked a room with a view. Worth it for a few bucks more. You can wake up with the sunrise. Breakfast iss the usual continental. I like that they wrap the bread and the pastries in ClingWrap to keep it fresh and from contamination. We'll come back again.

The nice thing about older hotels like this one, they tend to have larger rooms, and if renovated periodically, they can be quite advantageous. This property seems to have been given a recent update to the rooms, I particularly liked the quiet AC unit. And the location makes for a nice road trip stop, walkable to dining and casino. The one nitpick would be the typical thin sheets; increasingly hotels are going to comforters which would be especially appreciated in the cool winter months here.

Overall nice place to stay, room was clean, only concern was the wall plugs to charge phone and more are worn out and plugs would not stay in wall outlets. was nice to have the café and casino all in one location with gas station and general store.

Beautiful setting, friendly staff and well maintained rooms. Some pet friendly rooms are available but call the hotel directly to be sure they can be booked. Great stepping off point for Sierra adventures or just dividing up a trip along scenic 395. Fall color is typically at its peak in early October.

Very nice stay at an out of the way hotel at Lake Topaz. We enjoyed the room and check in was very easy. Staff was very friendly and personable. Very quiet location. There is one place to eat just down the road at a casino.

This is a satisfying Best Western in Topaz, CA. I wasn't expecting much since it's such a low populated area so why would it be maintained. But it is. The room is clean, pleasant to be in and has an excellent view of Lake Topaz. As a matter of fact all the rooms windows faces the lake.

motel was nice, hard to find. call ahead to get instructions of where property is located. not near a town so only place to eat was a casino 5 minutes away. nice view of lake topaz. no maid service for extended stays.

This last minute reservation was the best choice! The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the view of the lake from our window was so pretty and peaceful. If I were travelling 395 I would stay here again.

I travel to Bridgeport often for business and I just love getting the opportunity to stay at the Best Western. The management is kind and are willing to work with you to provide you the best stay possible.

We stayed here on our way to a family's memorial in CA and it was a very unpleasant experience with old Nasty looking bedding and old outdated rooms. They didn't have extra TP or blankets and the bathrooms didn't drain properly. Not what we expected after spending $300 on two rooms. Also don't take your pets because there is no grass or places for them to go potty. Only scrub brush.

We were touring National Parks and needed a place between Yosemite and Death Valley so we stayed at the BW Topaz Lake. It was right on the highway and had a restaurant and gas station right by it. The room was nice and the management wonderful. We loved the view of the lake from the room and had an awesome run rise view (see photo). Worked out great for us!

Nothing Special, Cold plain lobby over priced. Room was clean, dated furnishings, Had to put the ironing board next to the window, to block out the parking lot light as the room did not have closing curtains. This property is more in the Sure Stay Brand of BW's.

We were driving from Las Vegas to Sonora Pass and stopped to stay. We booked 2 beds. We arrived after midnight. The owner seemed pleasant - however he asked twice if we had pets (which we did not). We went to our car where the owner followed us out and paced back and forth. We went to the room that had an AC that kept us up - horrible noises and the room was not clean. The shower had no pressure. We left the next morning and checked out - the owner charged me for an extra person in the room - who was our child- which is why we got 2 beds. My other half would not sign the bill and we have disputed the additional charge. Never has a hotel done this to us with Best Western - and we have never been followed around. Best to probably have continued driving than to stay in a dirty hotel where the AC sounds like it is going to blow up.

Room had a smell to it when the water in the sink would back up! The phone in the room didn't work for 5 straight days (was told the whole 2nd floor was out) never fixed it. Told them about the sink stopping up! Again nothing. Trash cans in parking lot over flowing for days at a time. They would replace towels in the room, but no soap or toilet paper. That you had to walk down to the lobby for. Again, because phone did not work. Terrible stay.

Room was dirt and smelled had to use air freshener to make it livable. AC unit noise. Reservation for 3 yet room only set up for 2 with towels. Checked out early and no one on duty and luggage carts were all locked up requiring bag drag from 2nd floor with 2 out of 3 handicapped people. Best Western should review and pull franchise. Worst Best Western I've ever seen. Way overpriced for accommodations below Motel 6 standards.

This hotel was right off lake Topaz The room was comfortable with a nice view of the lake. We had the suite, The jacuzzi tub was in good working order. They had the AC off, so it took a while to cool the room down, but other than that, there were no issues. There was a small casino close by and they gave coupons for, which was nice. No pool or hot tub in use due to covid I would imagine. They did have good options for breakfast.

during these difficult times it was nice to see the friendly faces of shelly and shem. They always make our stay easy and relaxed. We stay here usually twice a year on are way up to Lake Almanor and it's always a pleasure.

I really liked this BW hotel. It's nice and cozy, pretty clean. Very quiet, so you can get a nice sleep there! Great experience for the price. I would definitely return to it if we decided to visit Lake Tahoe again!

Stayed in an accessible room. Got in late, exhausted, was too tired to go complain and try to reason with the person out front. Room smelled nasty, like a dirty nursing home where someone may have crapped their pants and not been cleaned up after. Shower curtain didn't do the trick for taking a shower, water all over the floor, creating a slip/fall hazard. Had to use all the rest of the towels to mop it up. Thankfully sheets appeared to be clean, but have my doubts about the rest. Maybe other rooms are better, but ours was gross. Breakfast...went in to see if it was edible. Poured a cup of extra-weak coffee that tasted like battery acid and left to find decent food elsewhere. Was advertised as being in Gardnerville, but was actually considerably far from there.

Comfortable room, great size and with all amenities. Beautiful view of Lake Topaz. The breakfast in the morning had a great variety, and the staff was very nice and helpful. Great place to spend the night along 395, near Lake Tahoe and Mammoth area.

Our room was far from lobby, a long trek with my bad knee. I had requested room on 3rd floor - supposedly the best lake view - but was NOT told that the room would be at the very south end of the main building ... if I had known about the long trek, I would have requested a room closer to lobby/breakfast. Room was beautiful, reasonably quiet (upper building, so door opened out to road, window faced the lake (pretty). We had a king room, but saw a couple of 2-queen rooms: if you read in bed, ask for KING room, because bedside lighting in the rooms with 2 queen beds is woefully inadequate. The trek from our room to breakfast was so far that we just gave up on breakfast completely - which was a shame, because the hotel website indicated that there was a great breakfast.

Easy and fast check in and out. Breakfast as to be expected. Clean comfortable rooms. Very friendly sly staff. Ample parking. Very close to the lake and an easy drive to surrounding cities. Stayed here and drove an hour to Grover hot springs.

3 story motel with views of beautiful sunrises over lovely lake. We walked down to lake, about 2 miles round trip. Felt good after day in car. This hotel does a nice breakfast, with usual options. Very clean. Rooms were spacious and very clean. Staff nice. No restaurant for dinner within walking distance. However some nearby driving, I believe. This is in a semi remote spot. We saw all sorts of wildlife on our walk. Jack rabbits, quail, bats at dusk. Moonrise beautiful too. Our suite on 3rd floor was huge with big jacuzzi tub. Gorgeous view needed window washing. But good air conditioning and curtains. A successful rest.

I just had the best stay at the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn in Gardnerville, NV. I was in Nevada on a business trip. I work for the military and my duties have brought me back and forth here for several weeks. I have stayed in 4 different rooms during my stays here, all of which faced a picturesque view of Topaz Lake. And although all the rooms were clean, elegant, and comfortable my favorite room has to be the suite on the second floor. It had the largest windows for viewing, plenty of space, and a large jacuzzi tub! Along with the great rooms that are equipped with a fridge and microwave was the kind staff. The general manager Shyam and his wife Shelley were excellent. They made my stay enjoyable. They made me feel welcome and took the time to greet me during each visit. Last but certainly not least was the satisfying continental breakfast that was offered. With all the choices I was sure to find what I was craving from simple cereal and yogurt to delicious Belgian waffles, eggs, and sausage. I can't wait to stay here again!

Really nice hotel overlooking Topaz Lake. Beautiful setting. Great people to deal with at the hotel. Room was super, big, suite size, beds were great. Couldn't have asked for more. Check-in and check out was a breeze and the people there, Shelly and Sham were great!

Hotel was clean and the staff friendly. Some beautiful views from some areas. Close to the Casino which has a nice restaurant. The breakfast area is small but nice and I liked that the rooms, while accessed from the inside, open to the outside. Overall a nice place to stay.

This place has a well appointed, larger room. The bed and linens clean and comfortable. It has a rather wonky entrance with 3 outer doors to reach our room, but probably a good idea in cold weather. Very helpful staff worked to try to get WiFi working in room. But we couldn't stay connected, probably need a booster or boosted signal. Nice view, the lake really is topaz in sunshine. It was a pretty sunrise.

Shyam even had a party going for a group in the lobby at no charge! Great guys! Rooms clean, great atmosphere. We will definitely come back. Good customer service is hard to find these days and when you do is priceless

Rooms were very clean. Beds were very comfy. Breakfast was great. Had eggs, sausage and waffles. The area around the hotel was beautiful. We had a lake view room, and it was nice to wake up to that view. The check in staff could have been more friendly but overall our stay was wonderful. Definitely would stay here again.

Motel is Adequate. Clean room, comfortable bed. Nice view of lake. Looks like a good place to fish. Adequate bathroom counter space. Food in restaurant mediocre. Gambling on the premises if that is what you want to do.

Checking in was quick and easy, which was nice. Front desk staff was very nice and also helpful. It's been quite a while since we've stayed in a motel style building. The balcony was squeaky while you walked on it so I'm glad we were at the very end so we didn't have to listen to guests walking back and forth. Room was clean and rather on the large size. The view was beautiful!! The window actually slides wide open but since it was so hot, we kept it closed and the AC on, which I'm happy to say worked really well! There was a breakfast buffet offered but we did not partake. Not sure if we had any neighbors next to us but we didn't hear anything. There is no smoking allowed in the rooms but I guess it is allowed outside the rooms as there were ashtrays on the balcony rail. One more reason to be in the end room, so you don't have any smoke around you. Bed was comfy, shower head was nice but I needed to buy a new pillow (I forgot mine at home and I need to use a flat one, these were very fluffy). Only issue that we came across was the yuck on the outside of the bathtub and the shower curtain is in need of replacement. Inside of the tub was clean though. Overall, a decent place to stay.

Nice hotel nice people to deal with convenient location over looking Topaz Lake.Good cable channels and Internet never had an issue. Might be a little hard to find have to look up for the sign says below the hill.

This hotel was very nice. It was clean, the staff was professional and helpful, and the breakfast palatable and plentiful. Although the Internet was a bit slow, it would not likely be better anywhere else, as this is a remote area.

Nice place great view of Topaz Lake, enjoyed watching the sun go down & raise in the AM. Need to ask the clerk were to eat. "close by" ......Closest casino.........Ask the clerk for a room with safety bars for getting out of the tub & shower, if you need one. $$$

We booked in here on route from LA to Yellowstone. We were more than pleased. The hotel is styled well, it is clean and the staff are very friendly and enjoy a good conversation. The art it the lobby and rooms are tasteful and something we will likely recreate at home (we liked it that much). The price was reasonable. Check in and out was easy and pleasant. The breakfast was clean, replenished regularly and there was a good variety to choose from. Our view was lovely and we would have preferred a bit of extra time to explore the lake but were on too tight a schedule. Lovely place to stay!!

Modern, very nice facility in a very small town. The room was really large and pleasantly decorated with a comfortable bed. Clean and well maintained! Wish their blackout curtains were "more encompassing" and, unfortunately the morning we arose we could never get the TV working! Missed my morning news!

Always happy to stay here. A great stopping point for any long trip heading north. Clean rooms, grounds and lobby. Awesome views of Lake Topaz, even though we don't gamble it's nice to be able to walk down to the Casino for dinner.

We spent one night here on our way back home from Nevada in order to break up our drive into two days. Our room on the third floor was large, clean, and had everything we needed. There was even a sofa and coffee table. It had a great view of Topaz Lake with the snowcapped mountains in the background. It was quiet and sits down from the highway, so the sound of the highway was not bad at all. Plus, the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was good and had a lot of choices, and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It was the perfect place to relax and spend the night after our 7 hour drive during the day. The only two “negative” things I can think of are the shower head was REALLY high (I am short), and the water pressure in the shower could be improved. However, these are minor. We are happy we found this hotel!

Photos and reviews not reflective of the property. Beds/pillows comfortable. A/C loud, TV small, Jacuzzi closed, reception area cluttered, stained tub/shower, stairway dirty, elevator scary. The Topaz Lodge might be a better choice.

The views from the room are great. The people are very friendly who work there, too. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet also. The building is weird. You have to walk inside, then outside, then back inside; it's just a bit unusual. Regardless, the stay itself was good. Be aware that breakfast starts at 7am, which seems a bit late, especially for travelers like myself who are often on the road by 6am.

Fantastic service, clean big room, comfortable bed and nice view of Lake Topaz. My husband had business in Bridgeport unfortunately there was a blizzard going on. We stopped at the motel at 9:00 a.m. and asked for an early check in. The owner was very accommodating. I highly recommend this motel.

When checking in, we were informed by another patron in the lobby that the place is known for car break-ins and to be sure to remove all valuables in the car. This gentlemen went on to tell us to leave fast food wrappers in the car so that the car looks "junky" and people will pass it by. One member of the team went into her room and the back porch area faced a side portion of the parking lot, and the door had been permanently bolted shut. The room also smelled like cigarette smoke. I spent some time getting the room switched over so that it was more inside the hallway, less exposed, not by the entrance or back lot. More than one homeless person was wandering the parking lot for quite some time. They came in and out of the building where are rooms were. There was at least one car that appeared to be lived in, near the building. The rooms were in a separate building and though the rooms had a hallway, they had back sliding door entrances which were not secure.The building itself was not locked but rather anyone could come and go. In fact, there was a man that knocked on the door of my co-workers room a couple times, calling out for Jose. She remained quiet in the room until he left. The room across the hallway had pot smoke leaking out. We decided to go to dinner early at 5 pm so that we could back in our rooms before dark. No business center. bad internet connectivity.

The managers of the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn were outstanding. We were stressed because our rental RV broke down, when we were checking into the hotel for the night. They were very understanding and accommodating.

The proprietors of this property took my last minute reservation, and provided me a clean and comfortable room during my time in the area. I have stayed in many Best Western properties, and found this one to be a gem in the high desert.

The hotel was clean and quiet with large rooms. Enjoyed stopping here for a night after a trip to Lake Tahoe. Good breakfast. Best experience with Best Western chain so far:) The lady serving breakfast was super nice.

Although the staff was friendly, I had issues with the room. The pillows had some gross dark old blood spot on it about the size of a quarter (will upload picture if site allows), the fridge had food in it from previous guests, and the phone in the room wasn't working. I was bothered because I booked 2 rooms well in advance, one for my husband and I and the other for my kids requesting adjoining room. Although, I understand it is not guaranteed my kids room was on a different floor. I asked them to please move us closer and the finally put them on the same floor as us but 7 rooms apart. Definitely, the worst Best Western I have ever stayed at.

Located along US 395 overlooking Topaz Lake this motel makes a great option for those exploring the Eastern Sierra Nevada region. The rooms are immaculate, the complimentary breakfast is excellent and the staff is friendly.

The rooms are very large and clean, updated and modern. Microwave, large mini fridge, tv with Direct TV. The king sized bed was nice and big and the only complaint I would have about the room would be that the bed needs a pillow top. It's too hard. The grounds are kept and clean and the hot tub was very nice. The breakfast was great! Waffle and Pancake makers, various breads and pastries as well as eggs and sausage. Plenty for us. For the money, this place is great. The staff are very nice and accommodating. We had need to call for service and it didn't take very long at all for them to get there.

we have stayed at this hotel at least 4 times, and everytime we stay we notice more changes and upgrades.the rooms are large and have a great view of topaz lake. this property is always very clean and neat. this is a very comfortable and quiet place to stay.

I am usually impressed with Best Western hotels, but not this time. We were tired and trying to find a room in a hurry. I called the hotel directly and she put me on hold for over five minutes. I tried to call back and it was busy so I booked through a travel app. The room was alright but the breakfast was not good. Most of the food was cold or they had not put any more out. Very disappointed!

Stayed here twice on our trip, first for 2 days on way up to Oregon and a further day on the way back. King Bed (6 ft. across) Big Room with Aircon, good Bath/Shower, T.V.fridge, microwave, coffee maker, and Wi-Fi. No pool but a hot tub to the rear. Really good breakfast, Hot and Continental. Some rooms have big T.V. and no sofa, others small T.V. but sofa. Super friendly staff. Lovely Location.

I picked this place for the Lake View. We had a long detour to get there because of a wreck but once we got there it was very nice. We had a great view and I enjoyed just sitting by the large window seeing night fall over the lake. The lady who checked us in was very friendly and her husband checked us out the next morning. I have no complaints and would stay here again.

We were surprised to discover this hotel was 20 miles south of Gardnerville rather than in the town. The hotel overlooks Topaz Lake and is next to an RV park and casino. The rooms were comfortable and good sized and we had a partial view looking over the lake and snow capped mountains in the distance. While the hotel is really in the middle of nowhere, we enjoyed our stay and the wonderful dinner we had at the steak house in the casino. It was a pleasant surprise and we would stay here again.

We enjoyed our overnight, much more peaceful than a motel in Reno. Beautiful view of Lake Topaz, totally quiet, a family business, very friendly and helpful. We had an excellent dinner and outstanding service (again with a lake view) in the steak house in the nearby casino. Will stay here again when we drive down scenic highway 395 along the eastern slope of the Sierras.

This motel was a pleasure. It was CLEAN, well maintained, affordable, and had great views of the lake. It also was very close to a small casino with an excellent restaurant (can walk down the trail or drive around). The staff were friendly and welcoming. We will definitely stay here when we come through again next year.

I was very happy with my stay. No improvement needed. Clean spacious rooms with a view, amazing staff and a good breakfast. The staff were knowledgeable and helpful and service was quick. Reasonable price.

This is a very clean, quiet place to sleep, but not a great value for a Monday at a very slow time of the year. Right next to a tiny casino and a couple of closed businesses. There is Topaz lake nearby. Not too scenic but ok scenery.

This place was a great surprise. Close to home but far enough away to feel like a vacation. The rooms are clean, the furnishings and carpet are new and the management is great! The breakfast was hot! The view is outstanding and the hiking is limitless. Thank you for a wonderful rest.

Good to read these reviews from Dec 20017. We were at Topaz Lake this summer and the Best Western Inn was closed. So apparently they are seasonal. We always enjoy staying at Best Westerns because we have found them to be clean, comfortable and affordable. The free breakfast are such a big plus. Apparently they are open during the winter so I suggest calling for reservations so you are not disappointed.

When I asked to be compensated for my stay I was refused and nothing else was offered. I was planning to stay a second night but I did not feel safe and checked out. When I called to complain the guests in the next room were making a racket and woke me from a sound sleep I got an answering machine. When I called down at 8 in the morning the man on the desk found it funny. I had a nice stay at Carson Valley Inn in Gardnerville. The Topaz in lists itself as being in Gardnerville but is actually 18 miles south of Gardnerville.

My husband and I decided to get away for a night Thanksgiving weekend. We picked the room with a full view of Topaz lake and whirlpool. The sunset in the morning was amazing! I suggest getting a room on the top floor of any hotel for quiet and privacy. It is always worth the extra cost for us. The room was clean and perfect for our night stay. The hotel staff was friendly and made sure we were happy when we left, thank you for making our stay relaxing.

Make it a habit of staying at the Gardnerville BW because of the management and service. The owners are great folks who go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one. Friendly, accommodating and great hospitality

this unit was listed as a Garnerville address yet it is 20 miles away. A method to mislead online booking for an area that has no BW. When I arrived they refused to upgrade room even though my award level states that it should be offered if available. It was available. The TV had very poor reception. They stated it was a problem with the service company. At breakfast there were no papers an TV was inop. Staff not apologetic. No BW pens were available for guests to steal. How cheap! BW online is at fault for misleading the location. I will be using another motel chain even though I am a diamond rewards member. They do not seem to care. I have not received my points on several stays this year.

Hotels in the area are limited and where there are a few older motels nearby, I prefer a brand rather than a 'surprise'. The hotel is clean and newer, easy access and a very friendly staff. The overlook for the lake is beautiful so grab your camera and head out at daybreak to catch the sunrise.

We have stayed near Topaz Lake many times in the past but this was our first time at Best Western Topaz Lake Inn. We didn't realize they have a few pet-friendly rooms and we usually travel with our dog. We were impressed. Our room was large, very clean and comfortable. The Inn is close to Hwy 395 but our room on the bottom floor was very quiet. We ate dinner at the Lake View Café next door inside the casino. For breakfast, we stayed at the BW since breakfast was included in the stay. We were expecting a continental breakfast but it was so much more. There were omelets, sausage, cereal, yogurt, muffins, pancakes, juices, coffee and about everything else you would possibly want. The breakfast exceeded our expectations. It was delicious. The Manager Shyam treated us like family and was very helpful and informative. We had a wonderful experience and will definitely stay here in the future. Lake Topaz has become our home away from home.

Great place all around, love the rooms, the view and really appreciate how clean everything is. Staff is great and very accommodating. This is a great in between place for people that like exploring ghost towns like Bodie, CA and Virginia.

Can not say enough good stuff about this property's management. They went out of their way to make sure we were happy with everything. They feel more like family after just one visit than the family I was with. I have found a new home when in the Topaz area.

Beautiful, spacious and clean rooms, with great products, surpassed only by the caring and helpfulness of the owner/manager. We will continue to bring people & clients to this hotel as long as Shyam is there.

Very nice room! Really nice clean large room. Nice size refrigerator. Lots of room for a porta crib. Not much of a view of the lake on the bottom floor, but 2nd and 3rd floor would be great! Beautiful drive over the pass. Lots of selections for the breakfast options.

My room was spacious and clean, with a nice view of Topaz Lake. The bed was very comfortable. Staff was helpful and friendly. In the morning there was a good breakfast with a vast selection to choose from. Restaurant next door at the casino. The only downside was noise from adjoining rooms - both from the guests and the AC unit. If you are not a light sleeper, then this won't be an issue.

Around this area, it's either this hotel or Super 8. The room was clean and it came with a complimentary breakfast. The only thing is that the dining area was very small and we had to wait for people to get done eating in order for us to get a table. Their breakfast is okay. The waffles weren't too good. It was just an okay breakfast.

Whether you are traveling north or south on 395, this is a great place to stop! Friendly staff, clean, comfortable rooms, and at a great price! Extra plus having a hot tub to relax after a long days drive. Casino just minutes walk where you can get a great meal for a decent buck. Very popular with the locals, so might have to wait a bit on a busy night to get a seat.

Had a bad experience in Lee Vining and found this hotel in a pinch. I recommend if traveling on the 395 to plan your stay here. Clean and very friendly front desk. Had a terrific view of Topaz Lake the mountains which made for a great sunset.

We choose this place based on the recent positive TripAdvisor reviews and they were right on. We booked online and got the BW member rate. Coming from the North we stopped at the Walmart in Gardnerville and picked up some food items as we did not want to eat at the nearby casino (the only option). We stayed in room 306, which is a bit of a walk from the elevator but with a luggage cart easy to manage. We really liked the smart, modern furniture, decor and size of our room which had a great view of the lake and mountains. The room had a comfortable couch and coffee table. There was a desk with a quality office chair. The room had lots of outlets on the nightstand lights and desk. Everything was very clean. The fridge was a good size and the microwave worked well. The hotel is changing the TV provider, so there were no cable news channel that night. Not a big deal. The internet was great and that was important to us. The bathroom was of a good size with a separate sink counter. There were great toiletries and good towels. The bed was very comfortable. The check-in person was very helpful and I enjoyed my chat with the owner at check-out. The lounge and breakfast area is bright and clean. The breakfast choices worked well for us. The only improvement I would like to see is better signage on 395 for this motel, turn left before the now closed conference center.

I've stayed in Bridgeport, Lee Vining, and Mammoth Lakes, and this is where I now ALWAYS stop on Highway 395, several times a year. The facility is clean, reasonably priced,has incredibly easy access, and is walking distance from a restaurant/casino. Let's face it, on 395 you are either coming or going somewhere, and the Best Western at Topaz Lake is the perfect spot. The staff are great, the facility is great, why do anywhere else?

Very nice place to stay when traveling north or south on Hwy 395. Shem and Shelley make us feel at home and welcome whenever we stay here. It's quiet, has great views of Topaz Lake and the internet service is easily available and well maintained.

Fresh, clean, and large room in a fairly new hotel. We had one dog along, and the room was great with plenty room for all. Hotel staff was efficient. Breakfast had a good selection. On a road trip up the Hwy 395 we stayed at 4 hotels; this one was the nicest and most comfortable of the lot. We took a drive through the mountains to Markleeville and hiked to waterfalls nearby.

Very friendly staff who answered all questions. Room was very clean and very large. Nice view of Lake Topaz and mountains. Wish balcony face the lake instead of the road as it would have been nice to sit outside with the view. Breakfast was hot and very tasty. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone heading up Rt. 395. Laundry service available along with wi-fi, spa and ice machine. Elevator to get to 2nd and 3rd floors. Adequate parking facilities.

The property was very clean, room was nice and large and clean. Personnel very friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Lake Topaz beautiful in the background. Price competitive for the area. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I was helping a disabled friend move to CA from TX. I made all reservations in advance at Best Western since we were traveling with a cat and a dog and most are pet friendly. We arrived here after a long day of driving and were told no cats allowed and that we would not get a refund due to the fact that we did not cancel in advance. I persisted and we were refunded 50%. This BE needs to make it clear that cats are not accepted. Cats are pets too. Also, we should have been refunded 100% due to that fact.

Quiet Hotel. Beautiful location and close to many vacation spots. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Mr. Shyam Patel, manager is an asset to BW. Rooms were very clean. Grounds too were clean. Beds were very comfortable. Even though the location was off a main road, the hotel was very quiet. Complimentary breakfast was offered. Great place to stay and will stay there again.

The first thing you notice is that the rooms are big and comfortable. There is lots of space is move around in. Even the shower room (which usually tend to be closet-size) was roomy. The rooms have a view of the Lake, they are nicely furnished, and the beautiful photographs on the walls were hand-picked by the owner and are of the local area. Furniture in the room included a bench, a desk and a large upholstered chair and ottoman. Breakfast is served in the large lobby which also has a view of the Lake when you step out on the balcony. A beautiful place to stay.

A great hotel to stop at. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Super views over the lake and hills. The laundry was good. Nice hot tub to relax in after a swim in the lake. A couple of restaurants nearby in a casino. Hotel owner and staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very good.

The breakfast was well stocked and the hot items were kept hot and replenished frequently. The breakfast area was also kept very clean. We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

My stay at Topaz Lake Inn was really very nice and The Hotel Staff were Pleasant and also accommodating. My Co-Worker and I were in the area and stopped by and were informed that all rooms were booked and to please come back the following night and stay. The Lake view was stunning and very beautiful from all the rooms that we had been in on past visits. Mr. Patel, The Manager, was helpful during our stay and made sure that our Best Western Rewards were applied and also given to us for the stay. They have a super Hot Tub/Sauna next to a lovely garden in back away from the other guests. There is a Casino down the road within walking distance in Gardnerville, in case you have a drink during spaghetti night for $5.99 all you can eat. The breakfast is very good and pleasant. Check out is a breeze.

Wish I could remember the woman/operators name, she was so nice. We talked about her garden out by the hot tub which by the way was small but very clean. Great place to feel at home while on the road.

Great little pet friendly Hotel for the price, though not much in the way of food choices close by. We used at a base of operations for trips to Tioga Pass, Bodie and Mono Lake. It was hot out but it seem like Topaz lake didn't have a lot to offer other than a lake.

We had a great stay here! We got in late and left early - it was literally just a place to crash but it was very clean and had everything we needed. The room was very roomy - in fact, I suggest they add a pull-out couch; there's plenty of room for that! The bathroom is a little small considering the overall size of the room, but it was clean and everything worked great. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was just okay, but had something for everyone. Eggs, cereal, sausage, muffins, danish, yogurt, etc. Definitely sufficient! Would stay again if we were in the area.

Stayed here for one night during a road trip. Rooms were standard, appeared to have newer fixtures. Room had an amazing view of Topaz lake. There is not much in and around the area, so I would recommend it for those who need to make a pit stop during a long drive.

Excellent hotel, very helpful and caring staff, breakfast was better than normal BW breakfasts. Location is excellent, right near Topaz Lake, all rooms facing the Lake. It is a perfect getaway for a weekend or longer. We had a great family time at this hotel.

We stayed at this property a couple years ago and visited again this weekend. While we enjoyed our previous stay, we were pleased to find some upgrades on this trip. The lobby and reception area have been modernized with granite table tops, mountain themed artwork and new lighting. The business center has been expanded and also has granite tops. The breakfast area has been expanded and the menu upgraded to include eggs, sausage and waffle maker that is common in mid to higher priced hotels. The owner was excited to show these improvements and really has a passion for making his property shine.

This is a great little hotel. The rooms are very clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms have a great view of Lake Topaz and are very quiet. If you want to gamble, Topaz Lodge is right next door, a 5 min walk through the RV park.

We really appreciated how our room at this hotel looked and smelled so clean. The room was spacious, had comfortable bed, pillows and furnishings. Coffee maker in room, tv worked great and pretty good breakfast in the morning included. All the rooms have windows facing the lake but ask for a room on the second or third floor. Ours was on the first which had a view of the parking lot and tiny bit of the lake. The hotel location is about 20 miles south of Gardnerville so no restaurants or shopping nearby unless you want to drive. We opted to walk over to the Topaz Lake Casino. Had some wine in their bar, played a little video poker and took in a spectacular view of Topaz Lake, and dinner in the cafe. One thing nice about the first floor room was that the entrance was off a large rocked patio area that had a few tables with benches so we sat out there for awhile in the evening. Even though the hotel is on Hwy. 395 it was very quiet. We never heard any neighbors either, even though the hotel was at capacity. Staff was very nice. Overall a good experience.

Nice accommodations overlooking beautiful Lake Topaz. We received a coupon for a couple dollars off at the casino and restaurant next to the hotel. Although we were there only 1 night, we enjoyed our stay. Everything seemed so clean and comfortable.

On our way north on Highway 395 through the Eastern Sierras, we decided to take a look at this hotel before deciding whether to stop for the night. It's new and clean. The clerk at check in gave us a king bed room with a lake view for the internet price (and our AAA discount). He also directed us to the nearest "beach area" on Topaz Lake for a quick swim at the end of the afternoon. We could walk to the Topaz Lodge Casino for drinks and dinner (note: an HOUR+ wait to be seated in the coffee shop). Very comfortable bed and large room. We woke up refreshed and glad we stayed one more night on the road before heading for home.

The hotel was very nice. The staff was amazing, went out of their way at times for us. Great view of Topaz Lake (3rd floor). There is no question this will be a future hotel for me. Our big group was checked in and out very quick.

Only stayed one night and it was ok. Service could have been better, especially at check in. Room was fairly large and it looked clean. Bed was not the best so we did not get the best nights sleep. Shower lacked pressure. Wish we had been on the second floor so we could have enjoyed the lake view. Not a restaurant close by.

Beautiful lake view from every room and the room is surprisingly modern and nice. Very kind staff ! Just be sure to get directions to access the hotel driveway beforehand if you're arriving in the dark as there is no phone coverage if you get lost...

Stayed overnight on a trip. Nice facility. Our room was very clean, large, and had a nice view of the lake. Road noise, surprisingly, wasn't a problem even though the highway is right next to it. The continental breakfast was a bit average based on our Best Western experiences. The staff were generally quite friendly, and interested in any expressed needs. We arrived on a particularly warm day (about 104 degress), and it would have been nice to have the room cooler for our arrival. The A/C was off entirely, so took some time for the room to cool down. Leaving it on at even 75 would have been welcoming, knowing the room is reserved. The laundry area is apparently not air conditioned (though, curiously there are vents) and consequently was very warm when we used the guest laundry. We did also have a power blip that cancelled our dryer time, and which we did not receive a refund for. Be aware, there appears to be little selection in food close by other than the casino, which was average to us. There is a small convenience store, gas station next door too. But, more options would have us driving into Gardnerville. Would likely stay here again.

This hotel is very good considering you don't have many choices in the area. I had business in Coleville, so it worked for me. The staff are very friendly, but good eating places are 20 miles away, Gardnerville!

A large clean quiet room with a lovely view of lake Topaz. One of the most friendly owner and staff we have ever stayed with. Breakfast is the normal for a Best Western, although the attendance keep the food from running out and the counters very clean. Gardnerville is just up the road with antique shops and places to eat and spend your hard earned money. A Casino is in walking distance. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner, and a gas station is on the property. We were visiting friends and family and will stay again without hesitation.

Great views, the staff overall was great but we arrived rally early and the gal at the front desk was not very nice but she was very busy. All we wanted to know is if we could check in and that is all but she seemed annoyed but was very nice ti us the remainder of our stay. Did not affect our stay..

If you want to stop at Topaz Lake for any reason, this motel is a god place to stay.The place is clean and well cared for...and the folks that work there are friendly. There isnt much to do in the area unless you are visiting the lake or just passing thru. The breakfast is nice. The rooms are very large and very clean.

When we checked in there was no power, but was expected in 2 hours. Never happened! Hotel did not tell us there also was no water. When checking out in the am the Hotel promised a refund because of the inconvenience, but that did not happen because we booked through an agent and not directly with the hotel. Will avoid BW Topaz Lake in the future!!!

Very nice hotel with helpful staff, great view and nice breakfast. It was quiet, clean and nicely decorated. We stayed at several Best Western Hotels in California over a two week period and this was the BEST one.

The casino is within walking distance from the hotel. If you don't mind walking down a dirt path and through an RV parking lot, then you don't need a car to get to the casino. The casino has a great restaurant with excellent food. Best Western does not offer lunch or dinner but it does offer both hot and cold breakfast at no cost.

We were passing through the area and this was a great stopping point on our trip. Great value/pricing, clean and comfortable room, needs a bit of upgrading but still great value and would stay here again. There is a little bit of walking if you are on upper floors; nice view of lake; friendly staff. Close to casino and restaurant.

A clean and comfortable hotel right off 395 at Topaz Lake. Pet rooms are available and convenient for walking the dog. I loved the roses in front and the other plantings around the hotel. Food at the nearby Casino wasn't bad if a bit pricey.

The room was very clean and comfortable. We had the first floor. We recommend the second floor only because of a better view of the lake and the rambucious running of a child or children above us early in the morning for about 2 hours. We were in room 107. They put in a nice gazebo since our last visit that is overlooking the lake which had a nice breeze and it was very quite and enjoyable.

You can tell this family puts their heart into this place. I enjoyed every minute of my stay. It was literally the CLEANEST hotel I've ever stayed in. You can tell they put their best foot forth. The family even went out of their way to talk to us and visit with us! I rank this place through the roof!!!

One of the best Best Western Hotels I have stayed. An incredible view of Topaz Lake out of my rooms window. Very nice rooms with friendly staff. A hot breakfast is included in the rate and served each morning. Easy check in and with the express checkout, leaving is a breeze. Just leave the key in the room and go. Very reasonable rates for the time of year I stayed. Highly recommended.

I have stayed several times at the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn. Due to different travel plans the last two years I had not been there. Was I surprised! They had recently updated the rooms, they look great! The place was always nice but is a gem of a hotel. The rooms always clean, staff always pleasant and helpful. I have stayed several times during all seasons of the year and the level is service and cleanliness of the rooms always spot on. If in the area it's a great stay, comfortable beds, very large rooms, quiet and peaceful!

We were pleasantly surprised when we pulled into the Best Western at Topaz Lake. We had a beautiful view of the lake from our room. The service was EXCELLENT. The room was really big and quiet. I would give this hotel 5 stars but the breakfast was only average.

My family has stayed at the Topaz Lake Best Western a dozen times since 2003, while visiting the area or going to and from camping trips, and we will definitely stay there again when we pass through the area.

Our room overlooked the lake and was able to open the window and enjoy the fresh air. The staff was friendly and inviting. Our housekeeping service was great! Nice to have a breakfast available to start your day.

We stop here on our motorcycle trips. Nice large rooms with a view of the lake, outfitted with a comfy chair and ottoman to sit in while drinking your morning coffee and taking in the view of that lake, a desk with cushy chair, handy for whoever is with you for taking in the view of the lake, great bed and pillows for getting a good night's sleep, and a spacious bath with the sink area separate so that two can get ready at once. There's also an outdoor spa, which is such a wonderful way to relax after a long drive. But the best are the owners! So friendly and ready to help with anything. Even though they were fully booked, we were able to get a third floor room at the end of the building -- very quiet. When we were enjoying the spa, the owner came by and asked if the temperature was good or if we wanted it turned up. (It was perfect.) After we accidentally locked ourselves out of our room while packing up, they were quickly able to help us get back in. Just the nicest people! There is a breakfast included, but I can't comment on that as we are not breakfast eaters. The coffee was good -- and was available even when we checked in at 5:00 p.m. You can walk next door to eat at the casino. There is a steakhouse (closed Mondays and Tuesdays) and a coffee-shop restaurant, both with views of the lake. The food is tasty and reasonably priced. If you are in the area, don't hesitate to pull in and spend the night.

Best Western in Gardnerville is our home away from home. It is always clean, welcoming and a very helpful team of staff. Also, improvements are always being made. Words can not express how grateful our family is to have such accommodations when visiting the area. We have stayed at other hotels in the area and there is simply no comparison. We stayed at BW Garnderville several times and we are continually satisfied.

I stay at this hotel every other month for about a week while working at the marine base about 20 miles away. It the best place to stay in the area. Fast internet, friendly owners, clean rooms, good view.

The Best Western at Topaz Lake is a great stop if you are driving up 395. It is bran new and rooms are large and overlook lake. It is hard to access from road so be sure to follow signs. Breakfast could have been better

Without question, I would stay at this motel again. The rooms were quiet, clean, comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable and as well as the pillows. I would verify what time breakfast is served so there isn't any confusion.

Great quiet atmosphere with great bed and plenty of pillows. It's the best sleep I've had at a hotel in years. I came back and stayed an extra night. I will stay at this hotel anytime I'm in the area. Microwave and refrigerator inside the room. Provided nice smelling lotion, conditioner, soap, and shampoo. They even provided a make up removing cloth. The owner even provided breakfast early on Saturday when he heard me come in the lobby! I couldn't ask for better experience. Awesome

This BW is one of the nicest ones we've stayed in. It's not old in any way. Very neat and clean and modern. Very nice staff. Beatiful pictures on the walls. Nice view of Topaz Lake. We definately recommend it.

Hotel has a beautiful view. The building is old and not BW quality. Bed was fine. Room was extremely warm when we arrived. Refrigerator ran with load noise all night. Breakfast ok. We would not stay there again for the price.

We stayed one night on the way to Lake Tahoe. The staff were very helpful, even though it was 1:00 am. The room was large and very clean. The view of Lake Topaz in the morning was icing on the cake. We'll stay here again.

Beautiful area, love the drive to Topaz Lake. Property was very clean and they offer breakfast with pancake and waffle maker, so that's cool. We had views of Topaz Lake. There's a casino and resturant real close and the place was packed, they had country music and food was good or OK. I didn't see any other places to eat, if Casino's aren't your thing, eat before your arrival. Only problem is they're not very friendly, you kind of feel awkward.

We stayed at the Topaz Lake Best Western as the last part of our 4 week stay in the Yosemite area. We found it to be very nice, well landscaped outside, large comfortable rooms and a very good value. A small but fine breakfast was included and the staff was very kind. I would be happy to stay here again..

A quaint little place on the way to Yosemite National Park from Lake Tahoe. The rooms are big, clean, well furnished and the bathrooms are nice and clean. We spent only one night there but it was worth it. Comfortable sleep and a good breakfast in the morning. Mr. Patel was there to help us all the time. Our room was overlooking the Topaz lake. Very beautiful.

This is one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. The breakfast was good. The bed was comfortable. The room was spacious and well furnished. All the staff we came in contact with were gracious, courteous, and professional. We will definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone who asks us where to stay in this area.

We chose this hotel because of its web page mentioning that all rooms had lake and mountain views, we also thought it would be quieter than Tahoe. We weren't disappointed with the view, only on the one day (out of three) when they were painting outside our room and so the window was taped up. But they cleared it out of the way as quickly as possible. We did appreciate that the rooms were all newly decorated and everything was clean. When the exterior work is done it's all going to look very good. Lovely spacious and comfortable room. Very friendly staff. Great breakfast. We ate a couple of times at the casino, the cafe there was okay, being over 55 we got a 10% discount so that was good! We discovered also that there was a small general store next to the casino, otherwise it's a long drive to buy anything.

Dirty along corridors. Building smelled like curry. Breakfast was terrible. Food like eggs and meat, not available sometimes. No napkins once. Sticky sugar and creamer containers. Coffee Thermos Dirty. I had popcorn first night watching TV. Bits fell to floor. Never got vacuumed up by staff. Wind blew in around my door on windy days, which made a annoying noise. The A/C fan runs always no matter your setting, unless off. They never replaced burned out light bulb by bed lighting after I requested. Cobwebs along stairwell and hallways. Dirty floors at base corners. Laundry area very scary looking. I've stayed at many Best Westerns. I average 60 plus days a year. This place Hands Down, worst Best Western experience ever. A poor reflection of the company brand.

Our room consisted of two queen size beds with free wifi, refrigerator, microwave, desk and office chair and a nice size bathroom. It was furnished with nice warm tone colors, everything looked quite new in our room, the carpets were great to walk on which made one feel almost at home. Clean & had a great touch of feeling comfy and relaxed. The host that greeted us as we checked in, mentioned that the painters were painting the outside of this property, which was a great choice in colors by the way! The painters were courteous and wanted to make sure they weren't bothering us, which was so thoughtful of them. Nice to see this Inn's proprietors taking great steps to improve many things on their property. For their free continental breakfast, it contained fresh fruit, a variety of cold cereals, yogurt, even thin bacon, good hot coffee, and our most favorite, was the make it yourself waffles.....nice and thick ones! Would of loved strawberries or blueberries and whip cream to have gone with them, but that is just my choice of preference. As we stayed for just one night, and were packing our bags in the trunk of our vehicle a sweet elderly man who we believe was related to the owners of this property, cut a beautiful red rose to take on our journey. Such a nice gesture on his part! Plenty of parking, noise factor average, but sometimes noisy as other guests slam their room doors upon coming and going. Our room faced the parking lot, and was on the second floor, so there was quite a bit of noise early morning from guests talking outside. We stayed for one night, and would come back to stay here again! Thank you for the nice renovation of your rooms and continuing to do so with the exterior building.....

Very average place to stay. I think it was a little overpriced for the area I guess because it is overlooking a lake. This motel was being painted so it didn't look that great. Landscaping could have been much better with yard debris swept up.

The hotel sits on the downhill side of the road and is obscured by a small conference center. We drove past it twice. The hotel is currently undergoing painting of the exterior and some internal renovations. Our room (103) had new paint, carpet, and furnishings. It is a nice property. Aside from the casino down the street, there are not restaurants or other retail establishments within 9 miles. WiFi service was good.

We stopped here on way to Lake tahoe from death valley. The location is nice with a nice lake view. Rooms are big, clean and comfortable. We had a nice hassle free stay here. This is relatively less expensive than staying in lake tahoe

This is a dog friendly hotel. Dog loved it. It has a covered walk way, that the dog could lay on outside. Staff was friendly and breakfast was good. The view from everyone room was great looking over the lake with large windows. You can walk to Topaz Inn Casino and gamble or have a reasonable coast meal. You can walk to the lake from this hotel.

Stayed 1 night enroute to South Lake Tahoe. Very nice and newly decorated hotel with amazing room size. We had a view over lake Tahoe which was nice to see the sun going down. Staff were all excellent and breakfast was great too. There is a lift to the various floors and a hot tub, small (I mean small!) exercise room, but no pool. Casino 5 min walk away does nice food. Definitely would stay again...

Really nice place to stay close to the lake. Clean big rooms! Wish it had a swimming pool only had a hot tub. Would stay here again if in the area. The staff were friendly and helpful. A couple of choices for places to eat within walking distance and the food was very good. We had a group of eight and everyone enjoyed their stay.

Great modern rooms, good view of the lake, good breakfast will return and recommend to friends, the rooms and grounds are very clean the front desk worked with us for an early check in talked with the owner in the morning and his attention to detail was outstanding.

Excellent hotel, great caring staff. They went out of their way to ensure I had a pleasant stay. Amazing views of the lake from the rooms and a short minute drive to the lake and gas station nearby. The rooms have been remodeled and everything is very modern. The beds are super comfy as well.

Everything I wanted in a hotel following a week-long backpacking trip in Yosemite. The owner is a wonderful person who is committed to the comfort of his guests. I had such a good experience, I felt that I needed to share… Five-stars on service and accommodations. An oasis in the desert.

Our room on the third floor had a splendid view of Topaz Lake. Loved the room! Lots of room to spread out and a comfy sofa with a coffee table. Everything worked fine. Shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. We slept in and skipped the free breakfast. My biggest problem was there was no convenient walking path to the Topaz Lodge Casino where we went for dinner. Although it was literally next door, walking along 395 was too dangerous, day or night.

If you are just looking to sleep and have your basic needs met, this place will work just fine. The bed was very comfortable, the view of the lake was nice... Continental breakfast worked out just fine. Made for a good place to stay since was near an area that I wanted to explore.

I had a special situation, and called last week, the front desk asked me to call this week. So called the front desk, worst experience forever, nothing they can do, nothing they want to do to make some arrangement.

After camping in the Sierras we pulled into BW Topaz Lake ready to clean up and reorganize before heading to the airport. We found the room spacious, clean and inviting. There was plenty of room for 4 people to repack bags, unpack backpacks and relax in comfort. Beds were great and the hotel staff friendly and helpful.

Fantastic hotel at a very good price. Ideal location with a nice view on the lake, friendly staff and included breakfast. The room was very nice, everything worked just fine. The free wifi included is super good, very fast, best you'll ever see for "wifi included". No complaints at all, would recommend it to everyone passing trough.

Best of everything -- Located between Lake Tahoe and Mammoth Mountain , the location provides it all - great views of the lake , star gazing, sun and moon rise over the mountains , newly remodeled rooms that are clean, safe and secure., for both yourself and all your vehicles motorcycles & RV's .

Awesome place. Rooms are ok but always have a great time. Sometimes pet rooms smell like smoke. Great scenery and customer service is spot on!!!!!!! Upgrade would defiantly help but don't want prices to soar either. It's a trade off. Best Friday soup ever. Love the cafe. Tables are ok depending on the crowd.

We ended up staying here last minute because we found the hotel we had reserved in Bridgeport unsatisfactory. This hotel and location were a very pleasant surprise! The rooms are newly renovated, very clean, and spacious. The lake is quite pretty and there is a funky, kind of run down casino next door. We really enjoyed this unplanned detour from our trip. This hotel is obviously cared for and we highly recommend it!

The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. It only has 30 rooms which makes it very nice and over looks Topaz Lake. Calming spot. Employees are great. Plenty of parking. Casino close by with good restaurants. The hotel is actualy about 20 miles outside of the town of Gardnerville but worth it.

We really were surprised at this hotel since it was out in the middle of nowhere. The staff was great , rooms newly remodeled and the property was very clean and well maintained. Breakfast was great, very clean and many selections. Thanks for the great stay !

Stayed here June 6th. Very clean, very large room in excellent condition. I am very picky. My husband and I was surprised to find this little hidden gem. You will not be disappointed. Service was excellent.

The manager is upgrading amenities and curb appeal throughout the hotel. It is very nice and worth the extra few miles you might drive to get there past Reno and Carson City heading East. you want to be on the 3rd floor for the view of Topaz Lake, a real jewel in the desert landscape. The breakfast was adequate having a croissant sandwich instead of scrambled eggs and sausage. It was good though and the coffee and other offerings, very good. Clean, comfortable, well equipped and quiet. The elevator seemed to always be there waiting for me - how do they do that? Kudos to Shyam the manager.

The room had a lovely view of Topaz Lake. It was spacious with a couch in it. It had a microwave and refrigerator and coffee maker. It also had a hair dryer and iron and ironing board. The staff were all pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was continental and ok. The price was lower then Gardnerville.

Had only one night after a drive down Monitor Pass from Markleeville. Hotel was right on the highway, so easy to find. Rooms face Topaz Lake, which is a big plus. It was the start of the Memorial Day weekend, and hotel was full, but no noise whatsoever. Room was on the second floor. There is a large elevator so mobility is not a problem. Room is also very large. Beds very comfortable. Sink area separate from toilet and shower, so you get a bit more space. Staff was engaging and personable, from check-in to check-out. Breakfast room is small but adequate. Only had bagels and coffee, so can't comment on what else was there. Internet worked just fine. Would definitely stay there again.

The location was great, beds very comfortable. Everything was clean. The breakfast was fine - waffles, cereals, various microwave breakfast items, yogurt, bananas. Walking distance to the lake and the casino restaurant (the only restaurant in town).

Facility was nice, clean and comfortable, but be sure you get directions if you make your reservations through the 800 phone number....the hotel post office address is 25 miles away from the location of the hotel and you need to know which way to go at the Rt 208 intersection....we wasted 50 miles at the end of a long day!! When we got there, it was a pleasant stay and could eat right next door.

Don't miss the Monitor Pass drive from Markleeville to the Best Western Topaz Lake. When I arrived the lake was lit by moonlight and I was delighted by the gorgeous view from the third floor in the light of day. The room is very large and immaculate, the staff is friendly allowed me to stay an extra hour. I made my own waffle for breakfast which is fun for adults and kids. I was using Waze as a GPS and it got me there though it would be hard to miss as the street is not clearly marked.

After leaving Yosemite and traveling over the Sierra's we needed a hotel before heading down Hwy 395. Since we travel with a Canine Companion for Independent puppy in training, we need hotels that are pet friendly. We use BW hotels a lot as they normally waive the pet fee. This hotel is a step above the average BW. The rooms are large, clean, and updated. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Yes, the grounds lack the landscape and have a large rock area outside the rooms, but are clean considering the weather this area is subject to. Would definitely stay here again when traveling through the area.

We stayed in a king suite with a great view of the lake. The bed was awesome, and there was lots of room to move around and plenty of seating choices. The sound on the TV was poor and not worth watching.

This is a great little hotel with a good view of the lake just over the Nevada border on highway 395. The entrance is a bit hard to find if approaching from the south. Go past the entrance with the chain across and turn on the next road to the right (past the Convention Centre) and it will lead you to the entrance which is around the other side of the hotel. A lovely peaceful spot. You can get take out meals from the Casino next door and heat them up in the microwave.

This facility is very modern, well maintained, and has a very caring staff. The rooms are oversized, spacious, and have lots of lamps to make it well lit. The furniture was very comfortable with one reasonably sized large chair with matching ottoman, two good sized side chairs (plus an additional large ottoman, and a regular sized chair. The breakfast was quite adequate with a large variety of items. It's a great place to relax and use as a home base to visit surrounding countryside. We would definitely recommend it to anyone wanting great value and all the comforts of home.

On a camping trip from Tahoe to Bishop in our tent camper we ran into terrible weather just outside of Topaz Lake so decided to spend the night in a tried and true hotel, and the next BW on the GPS was BW Topaz Lake, so I pulled in and grabbed a room for myself my wife and our 2 year old granddaughter. The room was warm and comfy, and they even made accommodations for our dog when our granddaughter cried about leaving her in the RV. I t was a very nice stay over, and the next day was so nice we decided to just stay at the Topaz Lake RV park.

I was sent here for business recently. Couple of things I loved. this one is extremely clean, newer furniture, very quiet, owners will go out of their way to help. While staying I was able to utilize the weight room and exercise. Breakfast is great pancakes and waffles! First time I have ever seen a pancake machine. Very impressed I felt right at home unlike other hotels. Definitely one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Co workers also were very happy with it as well! 5/5 stars!

Pluses: Location beautiful. Room large. Staff pleasant and attentive. Free continental breakfast showed good effort with waffles and hard boiled eggs. Cheerful bright eating space. Fridge and microwave. Updated bathroom with tub. Two sittable chairs and an end table, possible to plink together a pleasant dinner of sandwiches and a glass of wine in the room. Minuses: Low ceilings and "industrial" looking gravel back side of hotel made the ambiance a bit dim. View of the lake out the front cures that in the morning. Only place to eat is the Topaz Lodge casino a block away. The menu looked overpriced and I wasn't ready for casino racket last night, so we'll try it for breakfast. Conclusion: Beautiful peaceful setting, good value, would stop here again as a stopover.

I have stayed before, but it was a few years ago. The place has been renovated, and looks great! Friendly staff and great location. Plus, free breakfast. If you're in the area, definitely take this place into consideration. I included pics of our bed and the view from our room.

Located next to Lake Topaz, nice hotel on the way to Las Vegas. Rooms are clean and inviting. Large bathrooms and very nice beds to sleep in. New carpets had just been installed, so there was a slight new carpet scent. If you need to do a stop over from SF to LV. Stop here. Good restaurant and Casino 5 minute walk from hotel.

While needing a place to stay in the area for a family funeral, we decided to stay here at Best Western - Topaz Lake. We found that not only is the area beautiful but the location of the hotel is pleasing as well as the property takes great advantage of the scenery. Each room has a view of the lake and surrounding mountains. The hotel was very clean and the rooms recently renovated. It was very clear the owners/managers pay attention to detail and take great pride in their business. The newly carpeted rooms even had what seemed like double padding in the floors which was nice to walk on and also reduced floor noise. The only downside was that the community has very few places to eat especially after 8pm but you could not blame Best Western for this. The up side was a great breakfast in the morning and good coffee too. If you are in the area be sure to stay here. You'll feel safe and enjoy the clean atmosphere provided by this exceptional management. Thank you Best Western for having a clean and comforting place for my family to stay in our difficult times.

They call it Gardnerville because it's in the Town Limits....but it is really 16 miles south at Topaz Lake. BIG improvement.....Gardnerville does not have a Lake. Restful, GREAT view & service. I normally stay in Carson City, but it is worth the few more minutes, for me, to 'get back to nature. Did I say this was VERY restful?

The hotel was very accommodating to our needs! Our room was very clean and smelled wonderful! They had great services! All of the workers were very nice to my whole family! Overall we had a wonderful stay at the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn!

Make sure you stay at the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn when driving north from LA or South from Reno on the395 , or even if you plan on staying in Lake Tahoe for shows ,skiing or gambling . Even if you are in the area , heading to a Car show , Hot August Nites , some Horse shows or Rodeos , pull into the BW Topaz Lake Inn for the most relaxing , scenic stop along the Eastern Sierras . The hotel has the cleanest of rooms, all modernized with new carpet , draperies ,and furniture. The continental breakfast is the ticket . Put this hotel on your list if you want the "best western" value around. Awesome Hotel for tourists , business ,contractors ,car collectors , retiree's , treasure hunters ,sightseeing and vacationers !!

We stopped at this hotel on a leisure trip, where we were just trying to get away from a storm in Reno. This hotel was great in all aspects, except that I believe they should not close the outside hot tub for winter. A lot of people like me love to go in hot tubs when it is cold outside. Skiers LOVE hot tubs, as well as any other type of active winter people. Other than the hot tub being closed, everything else was great about this hotel and staff.

I found the Topaz Lake Inn to be spacious with sparkling new appointments and friendly staff. I stayed in March, when the place was virtually empty. Everything you would expect in an upscale motel, including a simple continental breakfast (standard waffle iron for fresh waffles, but nothing exceptional). The one negative was that they had closed the hot tub for the season, which is wierd because March is a great time for an outdoor hot tub in this part of Nevada.

We headed out for an overnight visit to Gardnerville, Nevada, about 55 miles from our home. We had a reservation at the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn, Gardnerville. However much to our surprise the address of this fine Inn is somewhat misleading as it actually exists 20 miles South of Gardnerville, located above Topaz Lake which is a small lake bordering Nevada-California. However we were very pleased to see that the Inn looked out over the beautiful lake and was not situated directly on US 395. Our room was huge with a very comfortable bed, immaculately clean and we were met at the front desk by a most friendly host. She noted that the Inn was 13 years old and was undergoing some renovation, such as new carpeting. Our room had not yet been redone but the existing carpet looked new! We found our experience to be a quite room, no noise from other rooms or traffic from the highway and it included a generous complimentary breakfast. We highly recommend the Best Western Topaz Lake Inn to anyone looking for quiet, peace and serenity in their travels on US 395.

The hotel was undergoing a tasteful renovation which did not interfere with our stay. The access to the hotel from US395 was a bit confusing even in the daytime. Our room was comfortable and nicely furnished, with a view onto Topaz Lake. The walls allowed for an argument next door to intrude, but that seems to be the norm for motels. This motel is a safe bet for a reasonably priced stay. Breakfast was included which included coffee, tea, fresh OJ, cereal, waffles, yogurt and danish. The owners were very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here in the off-season so our stay was a pleasant and very quiet one with a room overlooking Topaz Lake. The hotel is very clean and the continental breakfast they serve has a very good selection of breakfast items. Definitely a good choice when traveling on US395.

For the cost per night this is a good hotel to stay in. I have been here several times and have never had an issue. The hotel is next to the a small casino on Lake Topaz and is very quite for the most part.

Winter time at Lake Topaz is most enjoyable , especially when staying at the Best Western -Topaz Lake Inn . Convenience abounds from check in to departure. Morning continental breakfasts are awesome- anything you need ( especially when enjoying Shyam's hot coffee wake up.) With all the El Nino snow , you are close to all local ski resorts at Lake Tahoe / Reno area. Even closer, snow covered mountains are great for snowmobiles, quads, off roaders, and outdoorsman. Topaz Lake is like glass, open for fishing and all the local contests , plus boating and recreation. Most importantly , once you have stayed at the Best Western At Topaz Lake , you realize you have found the BEST !!

At a great location on US 395, very near the midpoint of Las Vegas or Death Valley and the Bay Area, this is a great option for those taking the scenic route, and wishing to break it up into two days. The hotel is a typical Best Western - interiors have improved in recent years, and are quite adequate and comfortable - exterior looking a bit worn. The rooms are large, I found my bed comfortable enough, although I would have preferred an extra blanket, being winter, so I might turn off the noisy heater. The toilet in my bathroom ran continuously, an annoyance that shows lack of attention to maintenance (308). Though the lake view is a bit overrated, I did like the proximity to the restaurant/casino, which can be walked to without going up to the main road, and provides a bit of entertainment to those so inclined (including table games) in this otherwise isolated location.

This is a cute but simple hotel with spacious rooms and some decent amenities. The staff were polite and provided good service. They were dog friendly but the room didn't smell like dog or anything. There was also lots of space to walk your dog outside. The room was very large and clean. It is near a lake and a few casino/lodges. Topaz Lake is a bit of a barren view in general, but with a fresh dusting of snow, it makes for a beautiful sight. Lastly, the breakfast was a pleasant surprise. While I expected bagels and cereals, it was actually breakfast sandwiches, waffles, and much more. Overall, I would say this place is good for someone looking for a good but affordable hotel in the area.

Excellent place to stay with beautiful Lake View.Good place to stay on the way to Lake Tahoe when coming from LA. Very scenic, quiet, comfortable King Room with very friendly staff and amenities. Worth a weekend getaway.

We spent 1 night here when returning from the Owens Valley. Good service and room but remember if you are coming in at night, the entrance is hard to make out and negotiate. Take it slow. We also ate at the Steakhouse in the Casino (Casino is the only place to eat) and it was very good at a reasonable price.

We stayed at the Best Western Topaz Lake on Oct 17. Our room requirements are simple. We want a clean room, good quiet nights sleep on a firm bed. Our room 308 was larger than we expected. It had a microwave and mini fridge. I normally like the wash basin inside the bathroom because I can then use the basin early morning without disturbing my spouse. In room 308, the wash basin was outside the bathroom, but was well positioned in the room, so that the wash basin light did not disturb persons sleeping. Our king size mattress was firm so I got a good nights sleep. The lighting in our room was good. Internet access was free and simple. The general location is convenient for travelers, next to 395 but not a factor for this room. From room 308, we had a great view of Topaz Lake. The breakfast was continental plus and included boiled eggs, waffles. Nothing fancy. Note that there is no ATT cell phone coverage in the hotel. All things considered, we had a good stay and would recommend this hotel to a friend.

When we made reservations, the person didn't tell us there was no place to eat except a smokey motel/casino down the road. However, she made a big point of telling us there was a 24 hour cancellation policy--not much help when you're on the road and looking for a place to stay that same night. Guess that should have been our first red flag. The rooms are nice, the staff--not so much. Not mean, just not invested in you as a guest.

We stayed 1 night at the BW Topaz Lake Inn and found it to be very basic, but clean and in a good location. The breakfast room was pleasant and well stocked with a good selection of foods and beverage.

Topaz Lake was a convenient stopping place for us and this hotel offered a beautiful view. The hotel was easy to find and the staff at the front desk was very helpful at check in and checkout. Nothing fancy or deluxe, but very clean and provided everything we needed.

This review is for what it is and WHERE it is. There is one other place to stay, the Super 8 at the casino. The rating would be lower in a competitive location. The facility is well maintained and the rooms are clean and spacious with the usual amenities. Each room faces the lake, but the window size is not panoramic and, in our room [third floor], was so dirty as to make the view obscure. The included breakfast is minimal with no hot or warm items other than the waffle maker and what you put in the microwave. Two juices, cereals, breads and assorted pastries are what's available.

We had been looking forward to staying here but sadly the experience was disappointing. The hotel is in a lovely position on the lake with great views from the room. The room was large but had a funny smell. The bed was uncomfortable and the pillows must be years old - very lumpy. The bathroom had a plastic shower unit in it which was quite grubby. The breakfast was awful - stale cereal, DIY waffles and packets of bread goods to heat up in a microwave. Quite a big hotel - everyone gets the breakfast included but there are only about 4 tables in the canteen/lobby. Hmm. We left as soon as we could!

This is a nice hotel, easy to find, good parking facilities, easy access to the elevators to reach the upper floor, the room was very nice and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The views across Topaz Lake are very nice and the colours change as the daylight changes. The staff were helpful and friendly, however when we arrived the reception desk was unattended, we had to call someone on the telephone to get checked in. The lady when she did appear said "Sorry for the delay, I was bored and went to talk to one of the other guests". Overall not bad, we would stay here again if we are in the area.

This hotel is biker friendly. They have great ideas for roads that you might not otherwise take. The breakfest was good, and they made sure we did not have to wait to get the rolling in the morning. Thanks

Stayed here two nights in September. Check in was efficient, room was very large, ac worked great, had a view of the lake. Beds were comfy, tv was big, Room was pretty clean- did find a hair on bathroom floor, but I survived. Was too late for breakfast on Saturday, too early on Sunday, so I cannot comment on it. Not many choices here for food- the casino a 1/4 mile down the road is about it. If you are into smoke and penny slots- it's ok (they did have a really good singer in the lounge). All in all- this hotel was fine if you have some reason to stay near Topaz Lake.

And the rooms have a great view of Topaz Lake. The rooms are large and well appointed. Very comfortable with plenty of chairs and space for a comfortable roadtrip evening. The nearest food is at the casino nearby. It's a little too far of a walk on the highway, but we drove on a back street that the manager told us about. The food there was good, and also had views of the lake. (Pretty fun casino, too!)
