« The nicest people I've ever met. »

My husband and I stayed here for five nights and four days (along with our two huskies). Let me begin by saying the staff here went out of there way to make this place somewhere that we'll never forget. We can't kennel one of our dogs because he panics and the hotel was completely ok with that as long as we left the do not disturb sign up. When we left there, I left behind a very sentimental stuff animal (one that's been all over the world with me). My husband called and asked if it had been found and at first they said no. He called again a couple of days later and they had found my stuffed animal. They ended up mailing it back to me and made the process as simple as possible. Thank you Best Western!

    « 1 night stay »

I only stayed 1 night in Gardiner and I really wish I stayed longer. The hotel looks better in person than the pictures which is part of the reason I stayed only 1 night. Our room was spacious and so was the bathroom. We were right on the water and it was so quiet and peaceful at night, which is exactly what I needed after a very long day of driving. The only complaint would be that the walls are thin and I could hear the couple in the room next to us fighting. But I would definitely give this place another shot.

« Great hotel near Yellowstone North Gate »

Convenient location about half mile mile from Yellowstone North Gate. Quiet. Updated hotel with big clean room overlooking the river. swimming pool and hot tub. Good service and easy check-in and out. Only steps away from good restaurants and bar. Rusty Rail Lounge Casino Bar across the street was wonderful. Included breakfast featuring: excellent choices good food plenty of it good service. Hotel blocks from grocery shopping plus touristy stores, liquor store, gas station, and many bars and restaurants.

« Good Place, Good Breakfast »

Lots of western-style details. Stairs to second floor, no elevator. Pool room looked nice but did not swim. Buffet breakfast was included in cozy restaurant, nice selection, even the coffee was good. Bar attached to dining room was a nice place for liquid refreshment.

« Great location and good room. would stay again. »

Originally booked for one night. But after our first day in Yellowstone NP decided to stay for the week because of easy access to the park via the North Entrance. Staff went out of their way to keep us in the same room. We got coupons for $7.95 off our breakfast tab. The breakfast was good - not great - but the price was right. Our room was comfortable. The best part was that it overlooked the Yellowstone River. We would stay her again.

    « Good as well as not-so-good »

My room was clean and I liked the restaurant, however, my clients/hosts had a less than satisfactory experience. Being in the hospitality business, I respect how paramount the customer perception is. Therefore, my positive stay was balanced by their negatives to produce a neutral review. My group's arrival was delayed due to a death in the family of the tour leader; the tour was being managed by a substitute so that last minute changes were made. The front desk and I were both made to wait for them to check-in while they had dinner first, unexpectedly. Thus, the front desk attitude toward them was less than cordial and baggage handling staff was inadequate. This was unfortunate but a good example of unavoidable curves in the industry: the customer is still "always right." Unfortunately, between that experience and a room that was less than clean as well as a room with a substandard carpet, my customers were less than happy. Thus, my mixed review. I was happy with the hotel.

« Nice 2 night stay with breakfast. »

Stayed here for 2 nights and it was fine, Nice big room decent shower and clean. Check in staff ok not over friendly or helpful. We stayed on the ground floor and only heard little noise from above Loads of deer on property which was nice. Close to a decent store about a 10min walk away which sold bear spray. Breakfast in attached restaurant which was good, doesn't start serving until 7 which is quite late when you want to be up and out. Lots of the restaurants had already closed for the season but the one here stays open and we had one dinner in here which was fine nothing great but nice enough burgers. We stayed on the ground floor and only heard little noise from above, overall its a good place to stay when you only need a bed and shower after a long day out exploring Yellowstone :)

    « OK but a bit worn »

Older facility that they gave a face lift to. Off the road so not too load if you are a light sleeper. Bed was comfortable enough. Shower could of used some cleaning so the build up wasn't so obvious and the curtain washing for the red mold at the bottom. Newer lodging in town if you prefer something more updated.

    « The worst. »

Lower price, cleaner room and a receptionist that knows something and is more helpful. Overpriced for a room that was not clean. The window with view of river was filthy. Room was dusty and found beer bottle cap on floor. No power outlet near table to plug in my computer. After registering I walk across parking lot and up stairs to room I was sent to. Key/card did not work, Walked back to office and ask for new key/cards (only got 1 the first time). Walked back to room and neither card worked. Walked back to office and was told sorry I was sent to wrong room and it was not available (after three walks across parking lot and three time up and down stairs). I was given a room at the other end of the building. TV would loose/find reception by walking across romm.

« One of the BEST Best Westerns in Montana »

This establishment is ideal for families and outdoor people, a unique experience with outdoor life is just outside the doors. An easy walk through town - and Yellowstone is simply over the bridge and across the river. Wildlife is abundant just outside the doors of this establishment.

« Awful experience- Extremely disappointed »

We stayed at the best western in gardiner on our way to Yellowstone from big sky, Montana. And we were extremely disappointed. We paid an insane price for a rundown hotel which was somewhat clean. We had just come from the lodge at big sky where we paid the same price and had a luxurious experience. Yellowstone park also had closed the Main Street to get to the south loop from mammoth hot springs which made getting to attractions in the park exhausting and long. Bad location, expensive price, and fine motel-like rooms. We cancelled our second night, at least the staff was friendly and cancelled without a problem. Definitely do not recommend this hotel.

    5
    « Montana's finest »

This motel has amazing views and there. are deer in the parking lot eating the grass. The breakfast buffet is wonderful with the best French Toast I have ever had. They have a large selection of foods and everyone is so nice there. Everyone at the motel goes out of their was to make your stay enjoyable.

« Best Western Gardiner MINUS »

I booked the best king suite in the hotel and three family members stayed there for five nights in early October. The price was not a bargain. The location is excellent to enter the North Gate to Yellowstone. The hotel was very clean but it was also very dated. They give their guests the "best breakfast in town" at the Yellowstone Mine restaurant which is on the property. That boast is a stretch because the same mediocre choices were on the buffet every morning. When I mentioned this at the front desk, I was told that "most people stay here only one night" so the restaurant does not need to change the menu. There was a problem in our second floor suite because occasionally a floor vibration took place which sounded like a tour bus running its engine under the room, which was right above the entrance to the hotel. I can't blame this on the hotel but in all fairness it was probably not the best time to go to Yellowstone because many of the amenities in the park and in Gardiner were shutting down. But to follow with a positive comment, the housekeeping staff was excellent and friendly. But if I I ever get back to Yellowstone, I'll stay in the park!

« Great location, clean and very comfortable. »

Great service from friendly staff. Rooms large, clean and comfortable. Close to Mammoth Hot Springs without all the queues, hassle and people. Plenty of good eating places nearby within walking distance and no waiting.

    3
« Good room at reasonable price for area »

We have stayed here before in the main building. This time we were in a separate building across the drive. It did offer a river view but I had rather have the quiet in the main building. We had people walking around on the floor above at all hours. You do get free buffet breakfast at the Yellowstone Mine restaurant next door. The food there was pretty good just depends on what you like. It would be best to come earlier when the food has not been sitting.

    4
    « Wonderful experience »

Great location close to the North Entrance of Yellowstone. We enjoyed the buffet breakfast and our room was clean and comfortable. Our view overlooked the mountains and we enjoyed watching the Deer in the parking lot each morning. We would recommend staying here as it was very convenient for our needs.

    4
« Close to Yellowstone, clean and cofortable »

We stayed here on 6/24 while traveling from Glacier NP to Yellowstone. This is an older BW but the rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable. The hotel is very close to the north entrance of Yellowstone. There is a restaurant associated with the hotel that is in walking distance. This is where you go for breakfast. We also had dinner there and it was very good. Being so close to Yellowstone, the hotel is expensive compared to most BW Plus but we found that true of all the lodging around Yellowstone. We'd stay here again.

    4
    « Impersonal but comfortable »

This hotel is not at Mammoth Hot Springs but in Gardiner near the north entrance of the Yellowstone - confusing! It is quite a large hotel and the corridors and the rooms are dark. They are however quite comfortable and a good size. Reception staff were helpful with a problem with a guide that we had arranged but do lack a bit of charm. All the rooms have TV and wifi. Breakfast and dinner (if you want it) are available in the adjacent restaurant. The hotel is quite big and the restaurant was crowded even at opening time. Breakfast is self service and American fried with some cereals. There is a nearby supermarket and The Raven is a good restaurant (not fine dining) a short distance drive. Not a great hotel considering the number of tourists.

    4
    « Close to Yellowstone »

The hotel is old, but the rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. The room has microwave, fridge and a desk. The hotel has a self serve laundry which came in handy because we stayed a week. Breakfast is provided at a nearby restaurant (buffet style, of course). A nearby grocery store (walking distance) made it nice to have a bite when not feeling like sprucing up for a restaurant meal. The staff bakes cookies in the evening.

« will not come back next time i came to Yellowstone »

The reception was awful. This is the most terrible reception we had in the US - we drove 2 hours from Bozeman and arrived at 9pm. The guy was very cold and indifferent, even a bit rude when asking for info of our reservation, not to mention a smile in his face. The bed uncomfortably soft did not support the back and spine at all. The pillows were messy on the bed -not even a motel standard?! The restaurant for breakfast buffet does not have capacity of taking the guests: long queue, crowded, food supply delay (we wait for the fruits for long and had to give up at last). Remember this is October which is not in a peak season. The ground floor rooms are right next the park lot - not quiet. Apart from the above, other aspects were average.

« Perfect room and destination for Yellow Stone »

I do like Best Western Plus. Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel is located in a lovely spot surrounded by a mountain drop but within walking distance of a few restaurants and small town shops in Gardiner. I loved Gardiner and its quirky Western feel. The hotel is in a perfect location 2 min drive from the Wyoming North Entrance gateway to Yellowstone. The Hotel has plenty of parking. The rooms are big, clean and fairly modern. The TV has all the channels you expect. The Pool is large but could do with some updating. Please remember the breakfast is very Western, biscuits and gravy with sausage, fruit and cereals and coffee and tea on tap. Don't expect too much but please remember where you are. Overall I am fussy and well travelled but the hotel met my expectations.

« Dreadful hotel with a horrid breakfast in a sad little town »

This is a thoroughly dreadful place. I've never used that word in a review before. Staff was barely civil. We were on the second floor. NO elevator. We were in the building with an interior hallway that was so dimly lit that you couldn't see the room numbers until you were right up next to the door. Almost spooky, especially with the abundance of taxidermy lining the stairs. The room was clean(only plus) your standard small Best Western room. Our room looked out over what can only be described as a sort of shanty town with log cabins and old trucks. The breakfast was incredibly bad. The room was also very dimly lit. Had to go back THREE times to finally get a cup of coffee. first time through no coffee. Went back twice there was coffee but no cups. They weren't even remotely prepared to serve the people present. Gardiner is a very small town with limited services. Definitely go to West Yellowstone if possible.

    4
« Good place to stay near Yellowstone »

This was a nice place to stay in Gardiner, just outside of the north entrance to Yellowstone. Check-in was friendly with warm cookies available. We were in a separate building overlooking the creek or river. We were on the second floor, and there is no elevator, so request the first floor if you'd have trouble carrying your luggage up the stairs. The room was very nice, clean, updated, and with a comfy bed. Lots of choices on the TV. Very nice bathroom amenities. We had no problems with noise. Complimentary breakfast is offered at an adjacent restaurant. I would say the breakfast buffet was just OK. We also ate dinner there the first night, and didn't care to return for dinner our second night. There was a tour bus there one of the nights, so it's a popular stop for tour companies. I recommend this hotel if you are staying in Gardiner.

    3
« Clean room; awful restaurant »

If you are looking for a clean room and have low expectations for breakfast/dining, this hotel is for you! Our room was clean and ready when we arrived. The "clean" remote had goo on the end of it indicating that maybe it wasn't as clean as advertised. Other than the remote, all surfaces/linens appeared to be spotless. Breakfast is a standard buffet with no "to go" fruit. Restaurant staff is unprofessional and seem to be inconvenienced by diners.

    4
« Great option just outside of north yellowstone »

Stayed here 3 nights to explore North Yellowstone. Not a great fan of the franchised accommodation in the park and this facility just 5 miles or so north was a good option. Gardiner is a small town pretty much focussing on tourism, the hotel is at the northern end, the restaurant is perfectly good, the rooms nice and the option of a river view one we took. Breakfasts good and the bar handy- it's a bit focussed on the locals with a "locals only" happy hour which is a tad exclusive but that's America for you! Every equal, but...

    4
« Good location, spacious rooms »

We had a Family Kitchenette to accommodate us and our 3 kids. This is a two-story hotel; there is no elevator. Our room was huge--one room had a queen bed and pull out sofa. An adjoining area had a queen bed, large table/chairs and a full, well-stocked kitchen area .The bathroom had the toilet and bath/shower in one room with the sink outside. Room seemed clean but definitely older. Beds were comfortable. I'd have given this a better rating, but there was no means of ventilation in the room that housed the kitchen and one of the beds other than opening the window. The A/C was in the room with the queen bed and sofa and you'd have to freeze that room in order to cool the second room. There was a ceiling fan in the kitchen room which helped. Fortunately when we were there it wasn't very, hot and we had the windows open except when the smoke was blowing our way. The pool was very nice and spacious. Breakfast at the restaurant next door was very good--really excellent biscuits and French toast, pleasant servers...and a change in the menu daily. The river is behind the hotel--somewhat scenic! Restaurants and Wild West Raft are across the street--nice to be able to walk to these things.

    5
« Great start for Yellowstone Park »

The window of our room looked down on the Yellowstone River and looked up to Electric Peak. Each morning we watched the Prong Horns in the meadow across the river. It was magical. The breakfast was five stars.

    2
    « Not a plus »

During a recent trip to Yellowstone, we booked a night at this hotel. It is advertised as a Best Western Plus, but is not. Very disappointed for the price we paid. Desk clerk said they had been a plus, but lost it because they didn't have elevators. I find it very hard to believe it was ever a plus. Rooms are nice enough, but our view was of a wall. Hallway and lobby run down, dark and dingy. Pool was ok, but hot tub was cool and not working. Pool furniture was flimsy plastic chairs and no pool towels available. When we were given towels, They were thin, gray, and rough. There was an unexciting buffet breakfast at the restaurant next door. If I were in the area again, I would definitely pick another hotel.

    3
« close to north entrance of yellowstone »

three of us stayed here after visiting yellowstone. rooms were big and clean and comfortable. no elevator which can be a problem for someone who has problem with stairs. an older hotel. we only spent one night on way to northern Montana. breakfast buffet ,which was in a restaurant next to hotel, was very good. many choices. staff was friendly. hotel close to other restaurants.

    2
« Look for other places »

I like to go to Best Westerns because generally I can rely on the quality. This is the most expensive BW room I have ever paid for and one of the poorest quality BW I have ever stayed at. The staff was not welcoming, the cleaning was poor and it was terribly over priced for the quality of the room. I felt I had walked into a tourist trap and advise if you are planning a trip to Yellowstone, to check out other facilities. I made a one night reservation at the Old Faithful Inn at the same time I booked this BW and paid half the price for so much more.

  • 3
« Review of BW Gardiner »

Very expensive. Prices are usually far more inflated around Yellowstone but even allowing for that it was the most expensive on our trip by a long way. The hotel and staff were adequate and the breakfast was good but we stayed in far better hotels for a lot less money

    4
    « It's cookie-cutter, but in a good way! »

After "slumming" it for several nights in subpar lodgings inside Yellowstone with no TV or WiFi, checking into a Best Western felt like checking into the Waldorf Astoria. Okay, so that might be coloring my judgment a bit on this review. I know many people like to diss cookie-cutter chain hotels, but there are simply times when you really appreciate the consistency and reliability of clean rooms, linens and bathrooms offered by a chain. Everything in the room worked, and there's free in-room WiFi in addition to the TV. The lodgings inside national parks say they want you to enjoy nature and that you shouldn't be distracted by the TV or your devices. Sounds great, but in reality you're not exactly out enjoying nature during those hours after nightfall when it's still too early to go to bed. You can only read or converse with your family so much. Sometimes you just want to veg on the bed and watch Law & Order reruns. There's also a coin-operated laundry room on the property at a very reasonable price, so it was a relief to get some clothes washed. Breakfast is included and in a restaurant next to the hotel. The buffet selection is pretty varied, everything from artery-clogging biscuits & gravy to hot oatmeal and fresh fruit. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The room rate is on the steep side, but still less expensive than inside the park.

    5
« Better than the rest! »

We stayed at the Best Western Plus for 3 nights and it was great. Friendly and helpful check in staff, clean and comfy rooms, great view of Yellowstone River, delicious HOT breakfast included and after a long day of sightseeing there were lots of super places to eat within walking distance. Plus we even had a herd of beautiful deer right in the parking area.

    4
« 10 minutes from the North Yellowstone Park entrance. »

Friendly welcome, helpful staff. After reading another review here decided to book a river view room and were so pleased we did. We saw an osprey from our window. The river view rooms are on 3 floors with the river right below the rooms. We opted for a top floor to avoid noisy people above, but the bottom floor had a walkway in front of it with seats in front of each room looking over the river. Room a little dated but comfortable and with fridge, coffee machine, microwave, and good wifi. On site was a restaurant and bar where we ate breakfast with a voucher from the hotel. Usual free breakfast with hot and cold choices.

    5
    « Great Master Suite! »

The staff was very friendly. The evening staff at the restaurant were wonderful. Rooms very clean and spacious. The master suite was amazing. Needed a fireplace in the corner, tho! Be very careful to read the free breakfast card you get tho. It says 10:00 am. There is a BIG SIGN outside on the restaurant that says buffet open until 11:00 am. They are not pleased with you when you don't read their fine print. They have a wonderful fireplace (it snowed while we were there) and they turned it on so we'd feel cozy. We had to stay in two different rooms for two different days. They moved our things from one room to another. Very honest. Nothing missing. YAY MONTANA! Make sure to fill the bathtub up completely before starting the tub jets. Might shoot you otherwise. Surprised the heck out of my son in law. It's not as close to Yellowstone as the hotels IN the park. With one of the roads closed, it took quite a bit of time to get anywhere. We did see lots of buffalo, elk and one bear.

    2
« Adequate at $100 but you'll pay $250 and get to hear the laundry next door »

First Important lesson: It's a seller's market in the north/west Yellowstone area; our room had a reasonable, but not great, king bed. This hotel is really 3 separate strip hotel units:one strip has a good view of the mountains. One strip has a good view of the parking lot, and the third unit is part of the main hotel. Our room had no sofa or arm chair-just a bed and table with two dining chairs. Bathroom shower was an after-added plastic box, so tightly wedged that we had to turn sideways to get into it. We're skinny. There was a cheesy sunken tub in our room, just close enough to the bed to cause us to place luggage in between so we wouldn't fall into the tub at night. Upon inquiring whether a non- sunken tub room was available, front desk staff responded, " YOU REQUESTED THAT ROOM WITH A TUB"; actually, that is all that was available 4 months earlier. Our room was next to the public laundry, so we got to hear washing machine agitation every evening. Breakfast in the attached restaurant was okay. So, if you have to stay here, make sure you get a room in the mountain view strip.

    5
« Great for families visiting Yellowstone »

This is nicely situated in Gardiner just outside the northern park entrance. Rooms are located in a two story building around a free car park. There is an indoor pool and hot pool. The room we had two twin beds and we were given a roller bed when asked. The room had coffee and tea making facilities but no safe. The room was clean and the staff polite and helpful. Breakfast was included as a voucher from the next door restaurant. Breakfast started at 06.30 allowing an early start to exploring the park.

    4
    « Value for price »

Well maintained property. Within walking distance in a small town. Breakfast buffet comparable to those found in Las Vegas, included in hotel room price. Would not have paid market price for buffet. Friendly front desk staff.

    3
« Okay for one night but skip it for dinner »

The room was typical size. Both heating and cooling worked through the wall unit. A High tech shower with two heads required a user manual. The pillows were useless. Complementary breakfast in adjacent building. Breakfast: Good assortment with scrambled eggs that didn't taste like powdered. Stacked sausages in varying degrees of doneness. Cold French toast with excessive cinnamon. Dinner the previous night: As part of a group, we got mandatory trout almandine with breaded coating on top. I had to peel the fish from the skin. Although advertised as a fillet, bones and skin belied the description. The salad was tiny. I had to ask for straws for our soft drinks. Mixed veggies broccoli carrots pea pods all cold. Mixed rice also cold and bland. I wish I could have ordered from the menu but based on what I was served I wouldn't return.

    4
    « A bit overpriced »

Dated property but we did have a nice large room with a view of the river. Breakfast was held in the restaurant on site, a nice change from the typical small breakfast rooms offered. I feel it is over priced but understand why, being close to Yellowstone. Town is sort of sad and not very lively. But I did love the deer everywhere!

« Best Western Mammoth Hot Springs treats you like Family »

We truly love this hotel. Gardiner is special to us. The folks at this hotel have come to know us and treat us like family. The setting is great. The accommodations are wonderful. But the staff is the best!

    4
« River, mountains, good breakfast »

Love this place, the hotel has 2 buildings, 1 facing has the river view, 1 main building has the mountain view. We stayed at the river view room and loved it. The breakfast was at the next door Yellowstone Mines, a very interesting decor that tells you Gardiner was a mining town. Lovely breakfast. The hotel ground has several old wagon as decor outside, good for photos. Absolutely recommend.

    4
    « Clean & Comfortable »

Booked this hotel for a three night stay while we toured Yellowstone. Hotel is very convenient to the North entrance of the park. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Our room was comfortable and clean. We left a note asking housekeeping to leave extra coffee (we are heavy coffee drinkers) and they were generous with the coffee and the condiments. I would stay here again without hesitation.

    4
« Friendly staff makes you feel welcome. »

The caring staff at the Best Western in Mammoth made our Yellowstone adventure a pleasant experience. The location next to the entrance to Yellowstone was perfect. The rooms were clean and it was quiet. We will be back.

    « Excellent Location »

Very nice and comfortable hotel. Also very friendly staff!! I did not experience breakfast so I can't comment on that. The bed was comfortable the room was clean and I was able to open a window for fresh air without any noise concerns. I highly recommend this hotel if you're staying in the area. I also arrived a bit early and they made it a priority to get my room ready!!! Thanks!!!

    5
« Best hotel in town! »

The rooms are big, and have river views. Comfortable beds, lots of outlets, heat lamp in bathroom, great shower, great pillows, self controlled AC/heat, and wildlife! Bald eagles, elk, pronghorns and deer right out the window. Breakfast buffet included with the room. All my requisites for a good stay.

    5
« A Top Place to stay while visiting Yellowstone NTL Park »

The Gardiner Best Western Hotel is a top value and great place to stay while visiting Yellowstone Park. A considerable number of hotel rooms front the river making for a scenic stay and some awesome sunsets. The hotel is aligned with the adjoining Yellowstone Mine Restaurant which offers a virtual full complimentary breakfast and wide assortment of choices for your dinner enjoyment, all without having to get into your car and drive somewhere after a day of traveling or sight seeing. The Yellowstone Mine's Chefs like to mingle with their customers each morning during your breakfast. This was a most enjoyable experience.

« Average room, great view, horrible breakfast »

We specifically asked for a room with a river view and the view was admittedly gorgeous - saw both beautiful sunset and sunrise. The room was honest, sacrificed bathroom space but it didn't put us to any inconvenience for such a short stay. What is absolutely atrocious is the "free breakfast". It just looks old, like it's been on the counters for ages. Location is good, just on the outskirts of walkable Gardiner's main road and relatively close to a food store to stock up for the Yellowstone adventures! (And double up on breakfast)

    « Nice one-night stay »

Very comfortable and clean. Maybe not a 5 star hotel but very solid accommodations. There are great views of the Yellowstone river. One of the best Best Westerns of the Best Westerns. Might be THE best Best Western.

    « Great location »

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed the property and food nearby. The proximity to Yellowstone is great. Kids liked the pool. Saw some elk right behind the hotel. Beautiful view of the mountains and river behind hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful.

    « Pricey but comfortable....crummy breakfast »

Stayed one night as location is good very near the north entrance to Yellowstone. Friendly and efficient check-in. No elevator, but guy at the desk offered to help carry our bags up. Room was clean, good lighting, very comfortable bed. Reasonably quiet. They include breakfast at the Yellowstone Mine restaurant attached, but that was awful. Eggs and French toast were cold, sausage links were almost inedible they were so overdone and tasted reheated from 3 days ago. Even the pastries were dried out and tasteless. Go elsewhere for breakfast.

« I am not crazy- They drove me crazy »

I can not express how awful of an experience I had staying at this complete dump. The "free" breakfast was just the icing on the cake to my nightmare of a stay. It all started with my own mistake of booking my rooms a week early and being charged $563.00 for not showing up (I admit fault) but the front desk 12-year-old staff was unwilling to even work with me or allow me to even speak to a manger. Instead they bickered among themselves like siblings who needed to be disciplined by their mother. I sucked up my error and paid again for two more rooms. Now spending $1000.00 for a motel with rusted bathroom walls, peeling carpet and stained comforters. Then the next day they continued to hit my credit card with charge after charge after charge. Their reasoning was because my card declined a room charge because they did not realized that I checked out for two rooms at once. Thank goodness I did not trust this place and used my CC that had a really stringent purchasing restrictions. I called to see what was going on and the woman only said "This happens all the time." and blamed the desk clerks instead of taking ownership since she was the one who was running the charges. It is now Tuesday, 4 days after my stay and the charges are still not right. Why not pick up a phone and call someone???? Wait that is right, they are so back woods and ignorant to know how to work one.

    « Disappointing facility »

This location was disappointing for the price we paid. The staff was not very welcoming at check in or when consulted for information. The room was shabbily appointed and obviously needing updates. The hot breakfast provided was well presented and tasty.

« Average for the area »

The property had its high points- breakfast was much better than expected. The pool was nice size but the hot tub could scarcely fit 4 adults. We had a suite, which was very spacious, large sink and fridge. I suspect a regular room would be relatively spacious from looking at the suite. It's the first time I've ever stayed in a hotel that had NO BLACK OUT CURTAINS to speak of, just sheer curtains on each window. Strange. We stayed in a suite and this was true in each bedroom. I'm a sound sleeper and never pay attention to reviews when people complain of noise. Being by the pool disturbed my sleep a little bit so definitely avoid if you're a light sleeper. Staff quite unfriendly when time to leave the pool but at check in and on phone were awesome. I get it. It gets old kicking folks out of the pool ever night at 10 pm but shutting the lights off at 10:03 to a group of adults when we said we were looking for a pool toy and saying that it will 'be here in the morning' is really unprofessional. We even mentioned that someone left their shoes and this individual muttered 'I don't care' under their breath. Guess it's hard to find good help. Shower head was broken but usable. breakfast was most redeeming quality aside from nice sized pool and Convenience of river rafters meeting right there.

    « Decent place »

Parking tough, especially for late arrivals. Breakfast included at nearby restaurant was excellent and good service for a very busy place. Beds were clean and comfy; did have a river view, but not impressive. Courteous staff and reasonably quiet. Primary downside was the exorbitant price, which seems typical for accommodations around major national parks these days--ouch. Oh, hotel staff may offer discounts if you book direct, but they can't save you anything if you book through tripadvisor. Suggest you make direct arrangements.

« Great location, good breakfast »

The room was basic but comfortable, and the location is STUNNING. (Maybe we were just wowed by the beauty of the Yellowstone area!) So glad they accept pets, and we had no issues at all with our dogs. Breakfast was yummy, have to walk next door to restaurant, but we didn't mind. TIP: It's TOTALLY WORTH IT to get up early and drive into Mammoth Hot Springs--we saw a whole heard of elk just grazing in town, plus we got to visit the hot springs before the large crowds hit.

    4
« Stay at the hotel for the view but eat breakfast somewhere else »

Super views, friendly staff, and great internet make staying at this hotel worth the money. We actually had an elk wander through the property while were were there. It was a real treat to open our window and hear the roar of the Yellowstone river. I have read other reviews that raved about the breakfast..... That was not my experience. Indifferent staff and burnt/overcooked food do not make a great breakfast experience.

    4
« Kids Loved the pool and hot tub »

Everyone was friendly and informative. The grand kids loved the pool and hot tub. It was close to the river where we rafted and the grand kids zip lined. The restaurant had very good breakfast, where we got free breakfast with our stay at the Best Western. There were elk right out by river and deer were in the lot right outside.

    3
    « Super Staff! »

Clean newer rooms. Nice beds that were very comfortable and not hard. Lots of pillows. No elevator. Dont waste your money on a river view. The mountain view was fine. Besides after a long day in Yellowstone how long are you really going to look out window? When we checked in I asked if we could have a room on 1st floor because we didn't want to carry all luggage to room. They didn't have any but would carry all of our stuff for us.....We thanked them and did it ourselves and it really wasn't all that bad. We left early and didn't eat the free breakfast so no comment on that. I would stay here again.

« A room with a view of the river »

This property is very well kept and we were lucky enough to get a room overlooking the river that flowed by the motel. We were able to watch kayaks and tubes run the rapids just outside our door. The motel has an agreement with the restaurant adjacent to their property to provide breakfast for their clients. We were supplied vouchers for each day of our stay and got to enjoy a buffet meal that had so many choices, it was hard to pick. The food, pastries were delicious and the staff were friendly and helpful. The hot tub and pool were very clean and relaxing especially after ad day of hiking in Yellowstone. While pricey, it is prime tourist season and everything was worth the price.

    3
« Overnight Stay for Yellowstone »

We were looking for a last minute room for one night so we could spend two days in Yellowstone without driving 2 hrs back/forth from the ranch we were staying at. This Best Western was not fancy, but we were all surprised at how comfortable and clean it was. We paid abt $225 for the night. The furnishings were decent and the beds were comfortable. They also had a complimentary breakfast buffet at the adjacent restaurant that was decent. As I said, definitely nothing fancy, but it worked for what we needed!

    4
    « North Yellowstone »

The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. One thing I found a little off ...on the site it appeared to be a hotel with inside entrances. Our room had and outside entrance but to be fair it also had and inside hall entrance. I was traveling with my teenage niece and I make it a habit to never stay where there is an outside room entrance. Fortunately we were there only one night. Breakfast was included but was not very good at the local restaurant.

    « FAMILY TRIP »

Nice hotel ..beautiful view and away from town and noise. a little pricey for what you got but in a tourist town it was fair. love the town and restaurant was right in front of hotel and service was very friendly. great place to stay in if going to Yellowstone Park.

    4
« Easy access to Yellowstone and good value »

Nice clean rooms with a view of the Yellowstone river and mountains. Location is great for restaurants and local color! Breakfast included at the rusty nail is awful and suggest you don't even bother but go to the Yellowstone grill or Rosie's.

    3
    « Yellowstone Trip »

Hotel appeared significantly nicer on internet than in person. Room was not as nice as expected, but beds and bedding were immaculately clean and very comfortable. Room was stuffy, unable to open windows for fresh air. Lovely view of Yellowstone River from our window. Breakfast restaurant was borderline shabby. Food was edible, coffee was not potable.

    3
    « Just ok... »

We stayed here for two nights...our room had a funny smell and the carpet had stains on it...maybe that was the source of the smell...it sounded like a herd of elephants when everyone was leaving for the day. You have to walk to the Yellowstone Mine Restaurant for the breakfast buffet which wasn't great...Won't be back...

    4
« Nice stay after a day at Yellowstone! »

The river flows right in front of the river that is beautiful. We had a suite room that was extra spacious and clean. The staff were friendly and courteous. Close to some good restaurants. Coupons are given for a great breakfast at the adjacent restaurant that is free.

    5
    « Excellent All Around »

Our family (13 people) stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. We found it to be excellent all-around. All the facilities worked well --- no problems. More importantly the staff was accommodating in every respect and clearly wanted to be helpful. The breakfast which was included in the room rate was far better than the usual "free" hotel breakfast. It is very conveniently located close to the northern entrance to Yellowstone. This hotel is highly recommended.

    2
    « Summer vacation »

Not what we expected with Best Western. We arrived at 9:30 and restaurant was closed. We went across the street for pizza. Next time we will stay in Mammoth Hot Springs. Services available were limited. Lobby did have coffee.

« Decent Hotel but expensive in the high season »

The hotel has two buildings. One overlooks the river and appears to have a very nice view. We stayed in the other building and our window overlooked a wall. Not a big deal as we didn't plan on spending much time in the room and were only there for one night. Location is good as Gardiner is a small town and you are right in the thick of it. The room was clean, big and pretty basic - no complaints. Breakfast was mediocre. This is a $150 per night hotel room that charges $225 in the high season. There is no getting around that as all the hotels around Yellowstone understandably do the same.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

At yellow stone this is the best hotel you can think of. They provide you excellent customer service. Rooms are very large and clean. Internet (wi fi connectivity) was great without any disturbances. Breakfast was really great and there was almost everything one can think of in breakfast. I got a bit delayed while checking out in the morning but front desk was very helpful.

    5
« Great hotel right outside the north entrance to Yellowstone. »

I am never disappointed with Best Western., Clean rooms, great view, relaxing grounds. Nice indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. Those cooking breakfast could use more practice, but not something that would keep me away in the future. Lots of food! I'd stay here again.

    3
« Basic and OK clean »

While the place is not a 5-star hotel, it is reasonably clean and bed is comfortable (toilet flushes fine!). The breakfast is served at next door restaurant - it is a hot buffet breakfast. The location is close to north entrance of Yellowstone National Park but at the far end from most restaurants and shops. There are a western and Chinese restaurants across from the hotel.

    2
    « Dirty and Outdated »

This is the third time we've stayed at this hotel. It just keeps getting older and older and repairs are non existent. The baggage buggy was broken. There was no hot water in the morning. We had to get housekeeping (who was actually the desk clerk) to come and clean the bathroom floor. It was covered with fluff and long black hairs. The security door lock is broken so anyone could enter. No key required. The hallway rugs were dirty. Just all in all not a good experience.

    1
    « Awful stay - couldn't sleep! »

Don't stay here!. Outside appearance of this property was old and worn. Our mattress was so old and uncomfortable, it made loud noise every time we moved an inch. Could not sleep all night. Told front desk man and he rolled his eyes and never even apologized. Rug at front door was torn up, looked like rodents may have eaten through it. Coffee near front desk was so old it tasted like battery acid. Can't believe this dump receieved a "Plus" designation!

    3
« Clean older motel with just ok breakfast »

Hotel room was clean. Great location to Yellowstone NP north entrance. Some of the other reviews complained about flying insects. At night there are flying insects outside that are attracted to the light right outside our door. Knowing that others complained about them getting into their room, we made a point of quickly entering our room at night. So we did not have a problem with them getting into our room. I did see one on our wall but we left him alone and he left us alone. The breakfast is located in a restaurant on the street close to the hotel. The food was just ok. Their was the typical scrambled eggs in a pan that you scoop out with a spoon, French toast, sausage links, gravy and biscuits, cereals, mixed fruit, casserole with egg, bread and ham, yogurt etc... What they did not have was bananas, apples or oranges or yogurt in individual containers. We like to take a piece of fresh fruit and/or yogurt for later but could not do this here. According to the book in the room, breakfast is at 7 am however the restaurant opens at 6:30am. for hotel guests. Also there is coffee in the hotel conference room at 5:30 am for those that are early risers like me. We did not see the pool.

    3
    « Gorgeous location but... »

This hotel is set in one of the most gorgeous places ever. The price is painfully high and the breakfast was a nightmare. The rooms are a little outdated considering your spending almost $300 but they can charge it cause it's close to the park. Right on the river. The breakfast was icky but again the scenery makes up for that too.

    3
« Ok hotel but avoid the breakfast »

This is an older property but clean. The breakfast buffet was free but served a bunch of RAW sausage and the gravy was on the sour. If you in the Yellowstone area and need a place to stay it is an ok option.

    4
« Lovely place to stay but the breakfast, not so much »

Booked this hotel due to recommendations on Trip Advisor. We chose a top floor room overlooking the river and hills - a great choice. The room was clean and comfortable, amenities were quite good, the bed comfy and nice towels. I did learn to not leave the door open because the pesky little bugs were flying around the room (but that was my fault). On the property, there are several places to sit outside and enjoy the scenery and wild animals (yes they do show up). There were only 2 things that detracted from giving this BW a 5 star rating: 1. We were in the non-smoking building, but the hotel puts benches outside of every room and people sit outside their door and smoke so you get the odor and drift smoke in your room. NOT happy about that. 2. The free breakfast buffet in the Yellow Mine restaurant was not good. The help couldn't keep up with the crush of people coming for their meals, the food was cold and unappetizing, frequently there wasn't enough re-supply of items and the coffee pots kept running out. The other reviewers liked the breakfast, so maybe we were there on a bad day (mid-week). You are close to the Yellowstone entrance, however be prepared for a line of cars, even if you are early. Even though I didn't care for the breakfast and smokers, I'd definitely stay here again for the fabulous room and wonderful grounds.

    « Great location »

This hotel is near the north entrance to Yellowstone. Very quiet location. Adequate space in the room. I wasn't crazy about the pillows. I look for a softer and normally, there are choices, but everyone else in my party (one adult, two children) had no complaint. The restaurant next door provides the free breakfast and their buffet was one of the best I've experienced. The sausage and eggs were fresh, not frozen. Absolutely delicious. S

« Clean, Comfortable Best Western »

We stayed at the Best Western Mammoth Hot Springs in Gardiner Montana, minutes from the North entrance to Yellowstone National Park. We could not have been happier with the comfortable, clean room, amazing view (1st floor has a gorgeous view of the river, which the other floors do not have) and the breakfast was very good, the size of the dining room was large and the lines moved very quickly even when busy. Would recommend to friends, or go again with my family. We were all very comfortable

    5
    « Peaceful Retreat »

We stayed in Gardiner on our last trip to Yellowstone, and enjoyed this hotel so much that we decided to stay here again. This time we were in the main hotel building, because the riverside building was booked. Our room had 2 Queen size beds that were very comfortable, a nice bathroom, and the other usual features. There was a hand-written note from housekeeping welcoming us, and mints on the bed after they'd been in to clean.

    4
« Excellent location for exploring Yellowstone »

We stayed here as part of our trip to Yellowstone National Park. The location is brilliant, being very close to the north entrance. The hotel was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is served in the adjacent restaurant which was good and set us up for the day. This is luxury lodging but is a fraction of the price of staying in Yellowstone itself.

    4
    « Very convenient »

This is a great location to stay very close to the north entrance of Yellowstone. This main street of Kalispell has all the conveniences to prepare you for a great Yellowstone visit. Our room was spacious and clean and breakfast was quite good. The view of the river was wonderful right from our room. I would recommend getting a top floor room to avoid listening to the pacing of people above you (common in these types of older wood frame hotels).

    3
    « Beautiful view--and they have a pool »

We arrived at the Best Western around 9:00 pm, after spending the day in Yellowstone. We drove up from Jackson Hole, WY, toured the Tetons and stayed in Gardiner, MT for the night. This hotel was a basic Best Western, nothing special about the room itself, but our view was amazing! My sister and nephew enjoyed the pool while we went in search for dinner. We thought the restaurant attached to the hotel was a bar, but when we had our hot breakfast there the next morning, we wished we had grabbed dinner there. The hot breakfast buffet is up the parking lot ramp and at the restaurant that is attached to the hotel. It would be nice if there was a more direct route to it, rather than having to walk where the vehicles drive. You receive a ticket for breakfast when you check in, one per person.

    3
« Nice to view but... »

The structure is beautiful, great location right on the river, with views from the rooms on the hill. Unfortunately everything is dated, we should make some improvements. a bit noisy rooms in Motel style. Breakfast is served in an adjacent restaurant, note the opening times. The staff here is very kind and helpful, but, at the reception is not reigned quite happy. Being in a strategic position to enter or stay out of the park, that is the advice to stay there. Beware though, the price paid is not worth the services rendered.

    1
    « Stay somewhere else! »

Smelly, noisy, air conditioning problems, unprofessional & incorrect reservation process. My credit card was charged incorrectly to the extent that it was frozen because of suspicious activity and had to be credited, which after a week still has not shown up on my account. Would not recommend staying at this property.

    3
« Quality has gone down in 2 years »

Have stayed at this BW previously and was very happy with our stay then. Staff did not seem knowledgable with the area (about dining) and the pool and hot tub needed some sprucing up. The trees needed pruning-was hard to enter the one door without getting branches in the way.

    3
« Great River View; otherwise somewhat tired and deficient »

stayed here 2 nites going in/out of Yellowstone. First nite = OK, but this place needs updating. 2nd nite we had their only suite room next to office. Issues: theres only 1 AC unit for 3 rooms, bedroom ceiling fans all made noise on every turn, and the carpet had just been cleaned and was still damp when we arrived and stayed that way for our stay. No box fan available to help the drying process. And we paid over $300 for the nite in the damp, noisy room. Our expectations are higher for the "premium" room at this place. Breakfast is good, except when the bus trip folks arrive enmasse.

    « No worries »

Such a nice relaxing stay, clean, and fun with beautiful views. Had a wonderful time at the pool although only one jet works in the hot tub. Nice staff, they answer questions and you just feel good about staying there. The complimentary breakfast is within walking distance not in the hotel itself but by far the best free breakfast you can get these days.

« Ok for one night with kids »

Arrived in Mammoth after a couple days in West Yellowstone and needed a place to stay with the family (3 kids+ 2 adults). Reserved a one bedroom with 2 queens. Planning on one kid on the floor in an aerobed. Was unimpressed upon arrival (kind of sketchy) but room was clean, motel like (ground floor/car entrance to room), had a decent indoor pool and hottub kids loved and a view of the Montana skyline that is picturesque. Didn't stay at hotel long before heading up to main town for dinner. Was fine for a quick night but was really tight room for us 5.

    4
« Great location for our Yellowstone Adventure »

Our motel room was very clean and quite spacious. The tub/shower and toilet were together in a very large space with a heat lamp in the ceiling. The vanity sink was in its own area so two people could get ready at the same time (could use higher wattage bulbs). A fridge, microwave and coffee maker are in the room. The beds and linens are very comfortable. Cleaned thoroughly every day. Our room was on the first floor with parking outside the door. Very quiet with the river not far away. The location close to the park was perfect. We loved driving through Mammoth each day and watching what the elk were up to. Good breakfast buffet included. Friendly servers at the restaurant. Quaint little town.

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

The rooms were very clean with very cold air. The front desk attendants were great in helping us with everything. Breakfast was served at a restaurant up on the hill above the hotel. It was great to be served real eggs for the first time in 7 days of traveling. The view from the swings in front of the hotel along the banks of the river was wonderful. We spent an hour out there in the evening hours just enjoying the views. Definitely would stay there again.

    5
« Home base for yellowstone »

Stayed here for a week while exploring Yellowstone. Rooms were clean, comfortable and quiet despite hotel being full during our stay. Northern entrance to park was only minutes from hotel. Close to restaurants, gas stations, and convenience stores. Views from hotel were amazing in all directions. We had a room facing the water and mountains which we would highly recommend. We could see pronghorn grazing on the other side of the water from our window. Will definitely try to stay here again in the future.

« Don't let the look fool you! »

We arrived very late at night and when I saw this place, I was irritated at first. It is expensive and I thought it looked horrible. I then realized we had a view of the beautiful river and mountains. Then when I opened the room, it was the cleanest and freshest smelling of our entire 2 week trip. The shower wasn't that great due to the water pressure, but otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay. Gardiner is a very quaint place! The breakfast is AWESOME---- it's at a real restaurant and the buffet has eggs, hashbrowns, sausage, pancakes, lots of fresh fruit salad, cereals, pastries, juices, coffee, and so much more! The waitresses couldn't have been sweeter. It was a nice surprise!

    3
« Best Western, Gardiner, MT »

Gardiner is just outside the northern entrance to Yellowstone Nat'l Park. This motel is a little dated but clean and convenient. Provide a laundry room for travelers on extended trips. Free breakfast provided in the Yellowstone Inn adjacent to the motel. Great view of the snow covered mountains. Had deer and elk roaming on the grounds of this motel each day on the banks of the Yellowstone River.

    5
« Great stay while visiting Yellowstone! »

We spent one night here when Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel wasn't available and thoroughly enjoyed our stay (after 4 days in the park, it was nice to have some of the amenities not offered at the hotels within Yellowstone (internet and TV, for example)). The north entrance to Yellowstone (Roosevelt Arch) is literally about a minute's drive from the hotel. The room was very spacious and clean. Would stay here again if ever back in Yellowstone. It was a little on the pricey side for a Best Western, but I'm sure that the proximity to the park is the reason.

    5
« Best Western, Gardiner, Mont. »

The only problem with this visit was the air conditioner was slow in cooling the room. The staff was excellent in trying to make us more comfortable. We were very lucky to have obtained the last 2 rooms available for the night, and appreciated the helpfulness of Best Western personnel.

    3
« Great starting place to Yellowstone »

It's an older place but everything is very clean. The river view rooms are really nice. The breakfast is a short walk but it's very good. The location is great. I highly recommend this place as the starting point at Yellowstone.

  • 3
    « Yellowstone visit »

Only giving 3 stars because you have to walk across the parking lot to get your breakfast. The shower was very clean and inviting with 2 shower heads, which was very satisfying after a day spent in Yellowstone. Had a nice view of the river with sitting areas.

    4
    « A view forgives minor problems »

Yes this hotel is old, but..... A very nice young man named Phillip checked us in with a smile and conversation. We were in a room in the building next to the Yellowstone River with a view of the mountains! Although the outside of the building needs some cosmetic work our room was great and looked relatively new. As I write this review I am lying in bed with the window open listening to the river and watching the clouds come down over the mountains. We have a small table and two chairs in the room plus a desk. Each of the bedside lamps have outlets that will hold two electronic chargers! There is a vanity area off the bathroom with new fixtures. Breakfast is a typical hotel breakfast. My only gripe is their wonky WiFi. Emails will go out quickly but not ones with photos. The server kicks you off every five minutes. They need to upgrade their system. I have 5 bars on my phone.

    3
    « Small »

Hotel staff was young and rude, restaurant where you have breakfast is small couldn't eat second day, overall for the price you pay NOT worth it!! Phone didn't work in the room. TV was hard to hear, had no way to let room service know we didn't need service came back to our stuff moved yet no extra coffee or towels. The best thing about this hotel was the view!

    3
    « Expensive »

Price dictated by location and available lodging--at entrance to Yellowstone National Park and verybusy time of the year. You have to pay for the convenience. This motel was surprisingly quiet and conveniently located.

    5
« Great Place to Stay »

This place is convenient to Yellowstone. If you are not able to get reservations in the park then this is the next best thing. Breakfast was good and also the wifi. The staff was nice and helpful. They even had cookies in the evening.

    5
« Comfortable, clean and quiet »

We were greeted by friendly and professional staff. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is located just off the street but it was very quiet with a nice stream flowing by the parking lot. We enjoyed our stay very much.

    2
    « Not good. »

We had several complaints about this hotel, but the main issue was cleanliness. Our room had a kitchen with a small set of dishes and cooking utensils. Many of them were just not clean. We didn't end up using the kitchen at all. The rest of the room was dusty and just not well kept. After our first night the beds were made but nothing else was cleaned. Overall a bad experience. All this for peak season rates of over $300 per night.

    4
« Good location for Yellowstone »

The hotel location was very convenient for the northern entrance to the park, we booked for a 5 night stay. Had a ground floor room which suited us fine as I could park my vehicle right outside our door each evening. The only time had any staff dealings was at check-in and check-out, very friendly and helpful on both occasions. Everything worked fine for us and certainly enjoyed breakfast at the Yellowstone Mine restaurant next door, available from 6:30 and such friendly service. I really liked their sausage. The only downside was when someone on the floor above was having a shower in the middle of the night. Not great. It is also fair to say that the hotel rate was a bit high given the room standard, but you are paying for the location more than anything.

    5
    « Trust Me »

Ok, this is an older hotel. But before you balk at the idea, whatever it lacks in newness the area makes up for! This hotel is right on the Yellowstone River and they have wooden swings set up for the guests to sit and enjoy for hours. If you are lucky enough the deer or some other wildlife will walk through while you are there. My room was very clean! The bed was comfy- I mean after a long day of hiking in Yellowstone all day it didn't take much to fall asleep after. The staff was very friendly and really- I wish I could have stayed longer!

    5
    « BEAUTIFUL Suite! »

We've stayed several times in Gardiner and in other places in and around Yellowstone over the past 25+ years, but nothing has matched the suite we had at the Best Western in Gardiner! I'll definitely be staying there again.

« Second time staying here. Great place to stay! »

I have enjoyed my stay here both times I have traveled to Yellowstone National Park. Jan 04-09, 2016 and now June 04-11 2016. The location is very convenient to the North Entrance of YNP an a short drive from Bozeman Airport. The staff some what let me down this time, I had a package overnighted to me here and when my wife called to find out the address and how to overnight it to me, the person in the office did not tell her you could not use USPS to mail here because the mail only goes to their po box! She mailed it to their physical address and include my name and room number but it's still only went to the post office. So a word to the wise only use Fedex or UPS to send your gear here! I am out $85 for the overnight fee and have to go to the Post Office to try to locate my package. This ruined two days of my plans.... Other than that, this is the only place I will stay in Gardiner,MT. BTW I love their restaurant and breakfast buffet!

Older hotel, but nicely kept. Large comfortable room. Good for overnight stay. Large breakfast in separate restaurant, o.k. food. Right on river. Nice pool and spa. Rate very high, but location close to Park.

    « Room with a river view! »

The rooms were dated but very clean. On our morning of departure, we did experience a little electrical problem with the bathroom light going out when I unplugged the hair dryer on the opposite wall near the sink. I played with the outlet a little bit by unplugging and resetting the plug on the coffee maker and the hairdryer until the light came back on in the bathroom. It seems the outlet had a short and we reported it to the front desk at check out. Staff said they would inform maintenance right away. Make sure you ask for a river view, it is beautiful. Free breakfast buffet was located next door and was good. They had breakfast items of scrambled eggs, sausage, toast, hash browns, juice, cereal and fruit. If you left hungry, it is your fault. Overall, the staff was friendly and the stay was good.

    « Yellowstone National Park »

This hotel is located in Gardiner MT, right outside the North Entrance to Yellowstone NP. The rooms are clean and spacious. Laundry facility is right there on the property which makes it really nice. There is cool little Bar and Grill called the Rusty Rail and the Yellowstone Mine restaurant located right in front of the property. The hotel offers a buffet breakfast at the Yellowstone Mine for everyone staying at the hotel.

    « Clean/Helpful »

The hotel was very clean and well taken care of. The front desk clerk was very friendly and very helpful, she was very knowledgeable about the area and willing to help us find the restaurants that we would enjoy. The indoor pool is kept at 88 degrees which appeals to cold blooded people like me. Would definitely recommend.

« Nice, clean, comfortable big rooms!! »

The hotel was very adequate and the service great. I didn't know to ask for a view room and my view was not good, but when I went outside the mountain view was just beautiful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when in the area! The breakfast was complimentary and it was very good. The location is convenient to the Yellowstone National Park.

    « Best BW View »

We spent one night in this hotel, after a day spent in nearby YNP. The room was very spacious and contained the usual BW ensemble of a fridge and microwave which we used. The view we had from the 2nd floor was second to none with evening wildlife, coupled with views of the Middle Rocky Mountains. We ate dinner in the Yellowstone Mine which we both enjoyed, if the service a little perfunctory. Would stay here again, given it's prime location.

    « 2 Bedrooms and a Kitchen »

We were traveling with another couple and got a 2 bedroom suite. It was very spacious and pretty comfortable. We only stayed one night and then we weren't in the room for anything more than sleeping so it was more than sufficient for our needs. It is in a great location that is close to Yellowstone. The breakfast was okay. My only real complaint? The light in the bathroom automatically started a very LOUD fan and you couldn't see anything if you didn't turn on the light. I found that annoying.

    « North Yellowstone »

Although I did not inspect all rooms, mine (101A) could use updating. Not sure what makes this property a "Plus," but in my opinion, it is just a run of the mill Best Western. Walls and floors are paper thin so anyone walking in room above or in the hallway could be easily heard. Parking was difficult if you came back late in the evening. The Internet service was disappointing/ I was only three rooms away from the router, and could barely connect on either PC or Ipad. I listed as no Wi-Fi, because I could hardly receive the signal. I noted that several routers were in the hallway, but the Ethernet cable was cut. The breakfast, well probably the best thing going was the eggs. They were real. The sausages seemed to be cooked in a deep fat fryer, greasy and overcooked. The Hash Browns just overcooked sitting in the chaffing dish. The coffee was very weak. Just some comments, it was what it was.

    « Great place!! »

Room had two doors; one to the outside so I could park the car close by and one to the hallway where I could get to the pool and hot tub without getting cold. Hot tub was nice... could have been a bit hotter and timer longer. Good channels on the TV. One day of check out, housekeepers kept knocking on the door 3 times starting at 9 am.

Very comfortable room. Excellent beds. Very good value. Hmmmm.... I need another 145 characters in order to submit the survey. OK. The location is very convenient to restaurants and to Yellowstone National Park.

« Loved the view from our window »

This is an outstanding motel, with a super breakfast. Our room overlooked the Yellowstone River and we saw antelope on the hills to the southwest. The room was super clean and the bed was comfortable. We can't wait to get back up to Yellowstone, so we can stay here again.

« Small town feel with big adventure »

This was our 4th year in a row staying at this hotel. We bring our entire family and rent 3 to 4 rooms each year. Gardiner is a bustling small town with quaint local shops during the day and some nightlife as well. *Something to note* ???This hotel is called Best Western Mammoth Springs, however it is at least a 5 mile winding road through mountainous terrain from actual Mammoth Springs. It is actually located in Gardiner, Montana which is the North entrance to the park and the closest to Lamar Valley which is where most of the animals are. ??? It's set back off the road, down a small drive and right on the river. I do love it here, and will return again and again. I've included a few pics from my room view and a pic of the shops at the north entrance. *spend the extra money for the river view*

« On Excellent place to stay when visiting Yellowstone »

Clean rooms, friendly staff and and a good value made this visit memorable. I stayed at the Old Faithful Snow lodge on this trip and I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western much more. The complimentary hot breakfast was one of the best complementary hotel breakfasts I've ever had.

    « Nice Surprise! »

Clean, decently-appointed room, incredible view and friendly staff. Very luck to find a vacancy just outside Yellowstone with no reservations having been made. The restaurant and lounge next door were also nice and very friendly staff. And a full breakfast before you head-out for a day exploring in Yellowstone was a very pleasant surprise.

    5
    « Excellent customer service »

The entire staff was accommodating and courteous. The restaurant staff was also friendly and competent. There is an on site saloon and bar and gift shop . All of which make a stop over enjoyable and convenient. the front desk staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was most comfortable and the housekeeping staff insured our rooms were kept clean in a timely manner.

« Great location with poor reception »

Our reservations were made online at the hotel's website. All confirmations and correspondence have been easy and as expected before arrival. Upon arrival, reception was busy, and the attendant that checked us in was not experienced, and lack of experience and much misinformation caused confusion and an unpleasant checkin for our party. The other staff member was also extremely busy and too flustered to help and also did not properly address the unfortunate experience that we had with this untrained staff member. Upon checkout two days later, the manager took note of our complaints, apologized for the untrained staff member and for our unfortunate experience at check in. The room was clean. The best part of staying at this location was getting a river view room on the lower level. The river is loud, but the vista is amazingly beautiful.

« Very close to park gate »

Just stayed here, our room was clean, and they have everything you need for your stay. Beautiful views and close to the park gate. We will definitely stay there next year, the staff was very friendly.

« stay here by the park »

This place was a nice place to stay. The restaurant next to BW is very expensive for the few items on the menu. Breakfast was a nice breakfast but some of the food was burn and or cold. 9 rating on the hotel 5 rating on the restaurant next to it

« Great choice for Gardiner! »

The room was clean, the bathroom shower had two very large shower heads, lots of hot water, bed very comfortable. We requested and received a king room overlooking the river and mountains and they delivered!! It was great! All staff members we encountered were friendly, well trained and were obviously interested in our comfort. We brought our dog and they were very accommodating in that regard as well!

« Good Value in a Seasonal Community »

Hubby (age 67) and myself (age 62) spent one night here. We had a riverside room with a king bed. +Large room +More than adequate furniture (room had a small desk/writing area, another table w/chair and two side chairs) +Microwave and fridge +Comfortable bed +Very Clean Bath: +Vanity separated from lavatory/shower unit so it's more flexible +/-A step-over tub; doesn't bother us but if you need a walk-in shower you should maybe check with the front desk +Very clean +More than adequate towels Pool/spa/sauna: +Pool clean +Spa clean but uninspiring +Both restrooms nearby and include saunas -Get pool towels at front desk instead of right there near the pool -No windows in pool area Breakfast: +/- O.k., this is the only reason I don't give it five stars. "Includes buffet breakfast" +Breakfast is served in a restaurant adjacent to the hotel, just short walk -"Buffet" is using the term loosely. Think breakfast like you'd get at any mid-range motel/hotel. Think scrambled eggs and sausage in chafing dishes NOT a restaurant type buffet. +At least the atmosphere for breakfast is more interesting than the typical conference room turned breakfast area +You get REALflatware, plates, coffee mugs (can't stand my morning coffee out of a styrofoam cup!) Remember that Gardiner is a small community, reliant on Yellowstone for much of its traffic and many businesses are seasonal. For the money we paid in this location, it was adequate.

« Two "Reading" Chairs! Great Views! »

The views of the mountains, wildlife, and river are the best in Gardiner. Roomy, COMFORTABLE, clean, pleasant room. The room had a good supportive desk chair AND a good arm chair, as well as a small table with two dining chairs. I appreciated the fact that neither of us had to spread out on the bed - or stand!! - to read and relax in the room.

« Great experiance at Yellowstone front door! »

Enjoy sleeping soundly with a reasonable room rate with Yellowstone Park's entrance only minutes away! The complementary breakfast is delicious along with the happy service. Best Western at Gardiner, Montana is a great place to stay when visiting Yellowstone Park especially in the off season!

« Best place to stay hands down! »

This hotel is just great, the breakfast in the mornings is exceptional, i cant say enough about the awesome staff, great location with strip mall right across the street, many restaurants within walking distance. The Restaurant/Lounge next door has awesome food, (get the steak strips) and also has a Big Wheel to spin once a day to win prizes! Nothing but good times await you here! Stay Here!

    « Good »

A comfortable rustic old hotel, close to Yellow Stone NP, about 15 minutes by road from Mammoth Hot Springs. The rooms are large and clean, the beds comfortable, the curtains/carpets old. The rooms have the usual amenities - microwave, refrigerator, cable, and free wifi. Plenty of parking and a decent hot free breakfast. There is also a pool and jacuzzi. For the area this is a decent hotel with a great location. Rooms are expensive in the area, including this one, so plan and book early if you are heading to Yellowstone.

    4
    « Really good value »

Well, I suppose value is what you pay, for what you get. The intricacies of BW Plus to BW is beyond me, so I will simply give my impressions of my stay. The room we had overlooked the river and was in a building away from the main part of the hotel; it was much quieter because of that, and all we heard at night was the Yellowstone river, beneath our window. Lovely. The receptionist was excellent in her approach and helpfulness. The room was spacious, well lit, comfortable, had a new carpet and was clean (although the inside of the windows are desperate to be washed). Breakfast is in a restaurant/diner type place which takes coupons from the hotel to the value of $7.95 per person. Food is typical diner breakfast and we found it a change to be away from the soulless breakfast eating areas usually found in mid range hotels. This place is also a ten minute walk to town and I found it a good all round place to stay. Recommended

    « what a view »

« Clean, But Could Use Some Maintenance »

My wife and I took a quick trip to the north entrance of Yellowstone Nat. Park over the weekend. We chose to get a reservation for one night at the BEST WESTERN PLUS By Mammoth Hot Springs located in Gardiner, Montana. This property is part of a small complex that includes a gift shop, restaurant, and several motel buildings. The complex is located on the bank of the Yellowstone River as it runs through Gardiner. There are river-view and mountain-view rooms available for an extra cost. We opted for one of the least expensive rooms and paid about $89 for one night. The window in our room looked out to a concrete embankment about 3 feet from the window. It gave some day light and I guess I could look on the bright side and say it gave a lot of privacy. The lobby is fairly small but nicely decorated with paintings and sculptures of western motif. The desk clerk was friendly and helpful in getting us checked in. The large parking lot is off the main street and well protected from both local foot and car traffic. The hall way was clean and the carpet seemed clean as well. Similarly, our room was clean. One of the things that makes us feel as if a room is clean is if we feel we can walk barefoot on the carpet without concern. The carpet here was very clean. The room was organized similar to most motel rooms. Ours had two queen beds, a TV of approx 40" with "clean" remote, one corner lamp, one table lamp, and a desk with a couple of chairs. There was a coffee maker and a clothes iron. The shower and toilet were in a separate room from the lavatory. The fixtures, shower insert, and toilet were all in good working condition. The water pressure and temperature were very satisfactory. My only complaint about the bath facilities is that the shower insert had not been installed with a proper under-layment. As I would move around in the shower the floor of the tub would squeak and groan. The beds were nicely firm and I did not notice any sag in the bed. The sheets were clean and there were four hypo allergenic pillows for each bed. Some of the pillows were softer than others which did help with sleeping when I finally found the one that fit me best. As in many motels, water running in nearby rooms, or those on the floors above, could be heard as it drained through the pipes. The same occurred here but it did not seem as bad I have sometimes encountered. But, there not very many clients at the motel the evening we were there. Probably, my biggest complaint was the creaking floor boards. The floor in our room creaked as we walked across it. I was not concerned because we were on the ground floor so I knew that no clients were in rooms below us to be annoyed by us walking on the creaky floors. However, the floor in the room above us creaked a lot as the people in it walked around and so that was a bit annoying. We could tell they were walking normally and not "stomping" but the floor still creaked. The room fee included a continental buffet-style breakfast typical of what is found in most motels of this caliber. We didn't arrive until breakfast was nearly done being served but the food didn't seem to be of very good quality. Friends we were with also thought the food to be of lower quality for a BW+. The staff persons were all very friendly and helpful. Even though we stayed in the lower cost rooms, I think this BW barely qualifies for the BW+ classification. It is more likely a very nice BW but I would consider it a only low end BW+. The breakfast I would rate as a 2 or 3. The creaking floors and water noise in the pipes would make want to rate it as a 3. Overall, I give the motel a 4 rating based on cleanliness.

    « Smelly Room! »

Front desk staff was friendly. The breakfast buffet was really nice, but - we had multiple problems with this room: smell, remote, broken towel bars and a shower head that came off the wall. They moved us to another room that, again, had a horrible smell!

« Nice, clean, convenient hotel »

Nice hotel. Clean, comfortable beds, very accommodating for us and our pooch. We wanted a convenient hotel close to restaurants for going into the Lamar Valley early in the winter morning and this suited us very well. Thank you!

« very good hotel , restaurant not so good »

The hotel was good enough clean , the only thing was there was no elevator, the front dest lady was nice to give us a room that was away but possible noise that disturbs my husband during sleep. we were given a river view room which was really nice, my husband worried that the sound of the river will keep him awake, so he slept away from the window

    « A Nice Place, a Bit Too Pricey »

Well located hotel in a convenient jump off point for Yellowstone NP. More a converted motel as the rooms have outdoor and indoor entrances. Comfortable room with the normal amenities. Cable TV service erratic, but that may not be the hotel's fault. Fridge in room which is always welcome. Free breakfast buffet at the adjoining restaurant very good. Parking excellent. Only knock I have is that it's a little overpriced.

« Enjoyable 4 night stay with GREAT RIVERSIDE MOUNTAIN VIEWS »

while we were not out in the great outdoors, we enjoyed the view from our room, always something new to see when the sun came up. Watching the deer, elk, and Bison come to graze on the beautiful mountain side was very relaxing. The hotel was clean and comfortable, bedding and pillows adequate. It was a little noisy from loud people coming back from the bar, but nothing turning up your television wouldn't drown out, HEE HEE. Breakfast was nice. not just cold stuff and fruit. Hot sausage, sausage and biscuit, and real eggs, even a hash brown casserole. The casino next door was a joke, as probably most in the area are. If you want to win any money, it won't be here. We adored the little store annexed to the bar and dining area, I found my customary souvenir spoon, magnet and shot glass at a reasonable price, and they had some expensive classy stuff there as well, for those who like to spend a little more $$$.

    4
    « Good Accomodations and Restaurant/Bar »

Spent one night here on a recent Yellowstone Snowmobile Adventure. The rooms are large and nicely appointed. Very clean. Comfortable mattresses and good bathroom towels. Easy to access bar/restaurant on site. Good menu - lots of locals on Friday night so that is an endorsement. Good Happy Hour.

    « North Entrance Visit »

Centrally located, fast check in, room was massive for the three of us, loved the fridge and microwave, great for a three night weekend! Room and sheets were super clean "I am a freak about this"! Nice hot shower after a day in the park, used the washer and dryer "don't like taking home dirty clothes", and it was only $3.00 total. Stunning view of river from our non river view facing room. Love that the horse and ski-doo rentals are right there. The pool and hot tub were clean as well. Limited tv channels however. Loved that the breakfast buffet is included in the price to the diner next door, the staff there are awesome also. Don't miss the spirits and the lounge either. We will stay here going forward. Only negative if there was one, neighbor had tv up loud and when I complained the staff came right down to see which room it was, but then after they did so our neighbor still had it up loud, so I called back a second time to the front desk and then within moments it was all peace and quiet thank goodness. The housekeeping did a stay over refresh and refilled our coffee bar and shampoo type items.

« est Western at Mammoth Hot Springs »

The Best Western at Mammoth Hot Springs in Gardiner, MT offers clean quality rooms with a helpful staff in extremely close proximity to The North Entrance to Yellowstone Park, (if you are feeling adventurous, you could walk 1.3 miles to the entrance!) Some of the rooms offer up fantastic views of the Yellowstone River and the magnificent Electric Peak! Lots of parking is available and the stores are a short walk away.

« Good value and close to the park »

I found this hotel through the Yellowstone Year Round Safari company. We booked a snowmobile tour with them and it was great. I found out from the office at the Best Western that the road through the park to Cooke city is open during the winter. I didn't see that on the NP website. We wanted to be able to drive around and look for wildlife. Staying in Gardiner worked great for us and is much cheaper that staying at a NP Lodge. We enjoyed renting a car in Bozeman and have the flexibility of driving on our own. You can snowshoe or hike with crampons on some of the groomed trials. We hiked the trail to Tower falls. We had a river view room at the Best Western and it was nice. The staff is very helpful. If you have questions just call them. The free breakfast was just okay.

    « A winter stay »

I had a two night stay at this hotel in January. The staff was all wonderful and the room was clean and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone going to Yellowstone as it is just outside the north entrance. The wildlife is just out your door at the hotel. Beautiful!

    « Yellowstone Surprise »

Well, it's not really a surprise because we always stay at the Gardthe best!iner Best Western in the winter (which is at least once a year.) You can't beat the views, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable, the price is right, the free breakfast buffet is exceptional and it's the best place to stay when visiting Yellowstone Park in the winter. « Great Hotel - nice room - hard beds »

My family enjoyed our visit over the weekend. We had a large suite with full kitchen and such. The room was clean and view was good. The only issue for me was the mattress - a bit hard. Furniture was nice. Temperature control was a bit hard as we would not read were to turn up or down. Room was cold then we got way to hot. Finally got it leveled out. Staff was always nice - pool, hot tub and hot saunas were clean and fun.

    2
    « Very average »

We stay here to do the Yellowstone snow mobile tour (which is great), it was more convenient as the tour is starting from the hotel, but except that hotel is very average... Internet connection is slow and disconnecting all the time, they have printer but no ink and the staff if not very helpful !

    « I couldn't sleep better »

We stayed 2 nights here. The rooms are simple, but clean and spacious. Ours had mountain and river view, and this choice was great. I loved the sound of the river while we were relaxing. There is a indoor heated pool, what was great. The hotel is near the North entrance to the Yellowstone, so you don't waste your precious time going back to the park.

    5
    « Beautiful views »

I would highly recommend this Hotel. Very Clean The Restaurant provides a great breakfast, lunch and Dinner. Their Lounge is set up like a Sports Bar serving good food and service. We stay here anytime we are in the area. Deer and Elk roaming the property.

    « beautiful sceneary »

the Mammoth Springs hotel was really nice, we did not make a reservation in advance and we went to Yellowstone south side and it was so.. very convenient to the park. the breakfast was not located at the hotel but just few stairs away and it was excellent. you could actually order off the menu and get a good hot breakfast! Also the wildlife from the parking lot was as good if not better than what we saw in the park. Elk right at your back door. Awesome!

    « Very nice place »

Absolutely wonderful staff!! A hotel is a hotel. Rooms, beds, etc. The staff can make or break it. This staff made our stay wonderful and we will certainly return to this hotel!! The rooms were nice, the decor nice, the area nice. Food was great. Thanks to all the PEOPLE there that were so nice.

« Wonderful service in a great location.... »

Easy to find after a long day's drive and terrific check-in service. Our room was clean and tidy on arrival. The old family restaurant beside the property is a real treat with great BBQ. Access to the Park is straight through town so this a great starting point for your Yellowstone adventure.

    2
« Poor condition of the facility »

The room, exterior doors and general appearance was poor. WE found a large spot and toenail clippings on the carpet. The window opened on a concrete wall. The mechanisms to lock the exterior doors were not working. The pool looked dirty. Complimentary breakfast at the restaurant next door was the only saving virtue.

  • 2
    « Trashy motel--literally »

There was trash still in the garbage cans and water in the shower when we arrived, so housekeeping did not do a good job at all. I didn't realize this is actually a motel, not a hotel, and I was not happy to find that out after checking in. The restaurant attached was beyond horrible and shouldn't be in business anymore--the food tasted stale and greasy and the service lacked a lot. I couldn't even finish the free breakfast.

    5
« River view and close to Yellowstone »

We spent 2 nights here and enjoyed it quite a bit. Warm cookies at the desk, free breakfast (not very good!) free wi-fi, and an excellent river view that was a $10 upgrade per night. It is only 5 minutes to the park entrance from here. We'll be back!

    3
« Clean, Quite but Old »

Clean, quite not a bad location, but showing it's age. Make sure you check your bill carefully when you check-out and get the promised rate -- I was a walk-in without reservations and paid more that quoted at check-in -- my mistake for not checking the bill :(

    1
« Don't Waste Your Money For a Sleepless Night »

Beds are like boards and the insulation between floors is so poor you'll hear every conversation, TV show watched, and footstep (with creaking floor noises) of those above you. Maybe if you got a top floor room it would help. Since we had the jacuzzi room, and paid a higher price, we expected to at least have a quiet night's sleep...NOT SO! Also, the outside wooden stairs to the second floor were on the other side of our wall and they were so noisy whenever people went up or down it woke us up. We stayed there because we've always had good experiences with Best Western at other locations and this one was near Yellowstone National Park. We definitely won't stay at this BW again!

    2
« Not worth the money »

I know that it is the entrance to Yellow Stone but this hotel is overpriced. The reception upon arrival and departure is dismal. 12 minutes on the phone talking to somebody before bothering to talk to us. Rooms are furnished with "tired' furniture. Breakfast in the adjacent diner is not great. WiFi does not work in the room. Have to go on the balcony !!! This hotel lives with busloads of noisy tourist and obviously does not care about couples. Way overpriced. A poor member of BW. I will never go back there.

    5
« Best hotel for a Yellowstone vacation. »

Loved our stay at Gardiner, MT. Great location, breakfast is awesome. Nice rooms, clean and comfortable. Service was great . Can't think of anything to improve it. Will definitely go back and recommend BW Mammoth Hot Springs hotel.

    4
« Get a room overlooking the river on the ground floor for great views »

This motel is your typical Best Western which is not all bad. The location in Gardiner is very good but you may not have to leave as their onsite restaurant is top notch and decorated like an old west mining area. We saw elk and moose grazing across the river and had a mostly tame rabbit below our railing. I would stay here again.

    1
    « Buyer Beware »

Don't make a mistake on your reservations!!!!! Accidentally booked a day early and when we showed up I owed 405.00 already billed on my card. Still had to wait for rooms to be cleaned even though it was evening. After LOTS of discussion manager met me half way. I know it was my mistake but geez have a heart for humans and good business!! Never again! Don't even ask about the night clerk!!

    3
    « Hotel policy disagreement »

Stayed 4 nights. Had argument over room not being serviced after the first night. Came back to the room to find it untouched. The (unwritten) policy is that the room is not serviced if ANY item of personal property is left on the bed (including nightclothes). We had to place all personal items together on a small table to ensure on every other night this did not happen again, which felt very strange. Been all over the world and not encountered this one. They gave us some money back for that night, but we were left feeling uncomfortable in a situation that we could not possibly have known about. Standard sort of motel, reasonable room.

    4
    « Yellowstone Trip 2015 »

The hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet was great and had a variety to choose from. The beds were very comfortable. The only complaint was the room seemed a little musky but was alright after the air was turned on.

« Good motel on northern boundary of Yellowstone »

Good BW motel with clean room and bed was comfortable. Includes breakfast at nearby restaurant. Office staff was friendly. We had a river view but honestly not really anything special but there were a few couples sitting outside in the evening.

    4
    « Excellent location,just outside Yellowstone »

We stayed three nights at this hotel for its excellent location, as we knew this place from 4 years ago : much more affordable than staying inside the NP.Although we knew that this was the end of the season, it was still fully booked and that explains maybe the less friendly reception we received here, which is atypical for most BW's. The location, quality of the rooms, wifi etc are however very good , as well as breakfast next door ; good choice overall !

    5
« Convenient and comfortable with a western flair »

Starting our visit to Yellowstone on a north to south route, we had a great beginning at this hotel. The access to the hotel itself is actually from the back of the property; a casino and restaurant are on streetside. From the moment we walked into the lobby, the proprietors were most welcoming. Arriving late there was precious little parking left, but they showed us a space next to grazing deer. Because they have no elevator and our room was on the second floor, they offered to help us with our luggage. None was needed, but the offer was nonetheless appreciated. They said they gave us a room with a view and so they did; come morning the riverside view was sparkling with frost as the sun breached the mountain. They provided a voucher for free breakfast at the associated restaurant a short walk from the room. We enjoyed the buffet thoroughly. Although it was very busy ? wait staff were hustling to bus tables and serve coffee, there was plenty of room for everyone, and the food was a notch above standard Best Western fare. The western theme was nice although we did find the herd of elk heads at the top of the stairwell a bit disconcerting as we headed out to breakfast. . Oh yes, the room was quite comfortable, quiet, and clean, and appeared to have been recently renovated. And 15 minutes from Yellowstone sealed the deal with a great location. We would definitely stay again.

« Great Place to stay »

When we arrived here there were two young men in reception and after our experience at the last hotel we expected the worst. However this was not the case. They could not have been more welcoming ,friendly and helpful, a very good start. The room we had been given 420 was on the riverside complex on the top floor and end of the block, good views of the mountains outside the door and great views of the river and the surrounding countryside from the room window with the added bonus of Pronghorn grazing most mornings. The room was large and unusually really well lit. It was very clean and well decorated with the usual amenities. We had no noise problems whatsoever. Breakfast was in the Yellowstone mine restaurant,a two minute walk, for which you recieved vouchers to present on seating. The buffet breakfast was very good and varied, well presented and set out, there was table service for tea and coffee. It is set on the west side of town so you have to negotiate the roadworks to get there and there is no access to the Roosevelt arch at this point in time.We would heartily reccommend staying here.

    « Great Hotel »

My family and I stayed at this hotel for five days in the middle of winter, and it was wonderful. The hotel has a great location, and is a walking distance to everywhere. The rooms are clean, and pets are allowed, which was wonderful, for we brought our dog with us. The breakfast was very tasty, and there was a large selection of foods to choose from. The staff was very nice, and it was overall a nice place to stay.

« Excellent view right on the river, great breakfast, comfy beds! »

I was so impressed with this little gem! We had a room right on the river, I would definitely recommend asking to stay on the first floor with the river view. Our bed was comfortable, everything was very clean and nice with great little shampoos and even make-up remover! The little coffee maker was perfect, and I loved that the buffet breakfast was included. Breakfast had a ton of options and everything was very fresh and tasty. Really friendly staff too! Plus deer walking all around when we were walking to and from breakfast and dinner. Right in the middle of town, perfect for our drive to Yellowstone! I'm so glad we decided to stay here - it really made our stay so perfect.

    « Nice Hotel - Thin Walls »

Nice hotel - Check in was very slow even with two people there. Both helping the same customer - couldnt quite tell why the lady couldnt have helped us but oh well. The room was clean, nice size and comfortable beds. We didnt spend much time in the room as we were there for Yellowstone. In fact I dont remember seeing the hotel during daylight hours. We were right next to the drink machines in the first floor hallways. I couldnt hear those but I could hear people stomping up and down the hallway and laughing through the night. Very expensive for having to deal with that. Probably wont stay here again. Not so much a review for the hotel but the entire front of the city (from Yellowstone) is under construction. All roads ripped up and town is hard to navigate if you havent been before.

The only ADA w/roll in shower has a permanent bench that takes up room in the stall and the shower has a lip that does not allow for you to roll in. Could not use shower for ADA person. However, toilet location and bathroom size was great! Next door is a great restaurant. You are given, as part of your room rate, tickets for breakfast. The restaurant in on the same property as hotel

We were quoted a rate of less than $100/night when we made the reservation over the phone. We requested a email confirm with the rate and she said she was not equipped to send the email. Upon Checking out our rate was $179.00. The manager gave us a rate of $154/night,but not less than $100. The room was fine, the coffee was good and the place was very clean. We called corporate, but it was to no avail. Bottom line, quoted 91/night had to pay $154. No way to treat a disabled Veteran. Shame on Best Western. Them to

« overpriced, ada room not really! »

Overpriced for a very basic room. When you are wheelchair-bound, you need more than just bars around toilet. Plus, toilet seat was broken. We reported it, but nothing was done. Room so cramped with furniture, no room to maneuver wheelchair. Two of the three nights, a big pickup without handicapped hangtag parked in the one handicapped spot. Staff just shrugged. So hard to get wheelchair out of trunk and get into it in a regular parking spot. The staff was young and inexperienced. We won't be coming back here. We will look for another place in Gardiner.

    « Good value »

Don't let the exterior fool you. Lobby and rooms were excellent. We were pleased with the location and price of the room. We felt it was a good value. Room was clean and appeared to be recently renovated. We skipped the complimentary breakfast after the first morning. Limited options and the staff at the restaurant was not as friendly as the staff at the hotel.

« Good Location for Yellowstone, Nice Outdoor Ambiance »

The hotel has some rooms with interior corridors and some without. We were in a room on the second floor with exterior corridor (no elevator), but I didn't feel unsafe. Gardiner is a small cowboy town with lots of character. The hotel is on the Yellowstone River and has old wagons, swings and other western items next to the parking lot. Parking is sufficient. Breakfast buffet is in the restaurant just above the hotel. It was adequate, similar to other hotel chain buffets. The morning we left, a mama elk and her calf grazed on the lawn next to the parking lot. The hotel was a little dated but clean; however, the second day, the cleaning staff must have been interrupted because the trash was not thrown out and clean towels were not provided, although dirty ones were taken. The dirty towels were left on the chairs outside the rooms. It appeared young men (late teens or early 20s) were the housekeeping staff and night desk staff, which I thought was unusual. I probably would stay here again, if I visit Yellowstone, because it is so close to the north entrance to Yellowstone.

« Clean, great breakfast and walking distance to several restaurants »

We stayed in Gardnier, MT because we could not find a place in Yellowstone. Well if I could not stay in the park, this is the next best place. The hotel is at the beginning of town, but there were restaurants within walking distance. The employees were really nice and check in was a breeze. They also let us park the motorcycle under the covered lobby check in so it would be safe and dry. Breakfast was buffet style in the restaurant above the motel and it was quick and satisfying. The town is cool and we rode into it (2 miles) and walked around. There are several shops, restaurants and bars by in town and we had a good time walking around.
