Greenery and gorgeousness are the main features of the BEST WESTERN Frensham Pond Hotel. . . a one-time home of the Bishop of Winchester! On the Surrey/Hampshire border, this exceptional accommodation overlooks Frensham Great Pond itself in our wonderfully secluded Farnham setting, which means you can look forward to staying in a tranquil location that belies its handy proximity to the motorway network (just ten minutes away). If you need to work we make the perfect conference venue with an excellent restaurant to cater for everyone. You'll find golf nearby for the chance to de-stress (although we take no responsibility for wayward tee shots), and the hotel's private outside terrace is ideal for reflecting on your round. Free Internet access means you can easily tell friends back home about the birdies and bedrooms you enjoy while you're here too! On weekends this hotel may have functions in the main restaurant. During these times an alternative room is used as the dining room or room service is provided.

« Beautiful setting excellent hotel »

    « Palm tree Karma »

Stayed here as arranged with business colleagues. A catchup meeting close by to a project we have in Surrey. Found everything to be very nice, lovely garden room that was an upgrade so definitely ask to stay in those. Diner was fine and what you would expect, nothing silly, just fine. What was astonishing was the bar. We all have a thing about Gin at the moment so we decided to conclude business matters with a G&T. Poor selection win Hendricks the only notable offering but astonishingly there was no cucumber. There was no lemon or lime either.. For a bar to offer Hendricks and have no cucumber, it needs closing.

    « Excellent »

My wife and I stayed here for three nights, not only to attend a family wedding but also a mini break for ourselves. What a find ! The staff are excellent, the food exceptional, the rooms were clean, tidy and quiet and the setting just adds more to the experience. We had a lovely stay and will certainly return, hopefully sooner rather than later.

« Great location, and staff »

Arrived late, and in the dark, so didn't get a feel for the location or the premises. Probably too tired to care! Dawn over the tranquil lake was glorious. Hotel is situated near the "pond" which is in fact a couple of large lakes. I would imagine that it would be heaving in the summer Excellent staff that were always willing to help, and obviously cared. Room was outstanding. Walk-in showers are always such a sensible and enjoyable addition. Gym was well appointed, though I was disappointed that there were no antibacterial wipes. I enjoyed it anyway Food was all delicious, and a welcome change. Crayfish, pink grapefruit salad was a subtle delight. Chips were properly cooked for once too Certainly glad that I have more work in the area so that I have an excuse to go back

« Excellent quality, friendly staff, lovely location »

Frensham Pond is a great place to stay. The facilities are very good, rooms are lovely and of very good quality. The staff are really helpful and welcoming. I have come here a lot over the last few years, and they are always making improvements. They really do seem to care about their guests.

« Excellent stay, great location, view from the restaurant scores highly »

The staff were very kind and welcoming. The main chap, Adriano I think his name was, could not have done more for us. Food was outstanding - for £25.50 for three courses, you'd easily pay £65++ in London for similar. Very easy to walk around the Great Pond to the beach. The pillows were very uncomfortable - it was a new refurbished area so maybe this had now been fixed. Newly refurbished rooms with multiple blinking lights and glow in the dark fittings. I have no idea why modern hotels do this, it is total madness.

« Just a little more attention to detail required now »

I stay on a regular basis at this hotel which is situated only a few minutes drive from where I organise events on a monthly basis. The staff are all very polite and helpful, but someone needs to take a walk around the hotel to identify the few areas which could do with some attention. A lot of work has been done and continues to be done, all for the better and I recommend the hotel to others and look forward to staying when travelling to the area.

    « Short break »

We came for two nights and was pleasantly surprised the hotel was very welcoming and was welcomed at the reception desk by a very friendly guy he made us feel welcome and put us in the right direction for room bar restaurant etc so a good start as we were having dinner the first night we paid a surcharge for sirloin steak and after reading that the steak was 28 days old and came from this that and the other we thought it was worth paying the extra but what a let down it's probably one of the worst steaks I've had and after complaining to the manager he took the cost off our bill and rightly so . Breakfast in the morning was faultless plenty of choice and cooked perfect and good staff also would like to say cosmin in the bar area is a true gent and he was so helpful even putting a table together in another room so we could watch football and a really nice guy as for the ponds it's a nice walk for an hour and then to sit by the open fire in the bar area with a pint or two is perfect it's a shame the atmosphere was a bit quite but we spoke to a couple from minehead so they travelled quite far as we are only 45mins away and must say we enjoyed our time

« Great place to stay »

Location was easily found with the Sat Nav. It is adjacent to the Great pond next to the sailing club. The hotel itself was welcoming, to the extent the our luggage was carried to our room. The room was lovely, clean, beautifully decorated, perfect bathroom and very large bath sheets. The restaurant provided a fine evening meal and breakfast, as both were pre booked they were priced at less than on the menu. We would go back if we were in the area.

« Amazing hotel, amazing staff! »

I stayed here with family for a wedding, we were not disappointed in ANY way, reception were so friendly and helpful, rooms were easy to find and absolutely gorgeous, big comfy beds, gorgeous bathroom, large flat screen TV at end of bed on wall! Breakfast on both mornings we were greeted by the most generous friendly manager any hotel could wish for who couldn't do more to make out breakfast more comfortable and it was all freshly cooked and yummy! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel To anyone, only downside is we were under impression that Northbrook hall was close by, it wasn't and cost £50 for a return taxj journey on wedding day!

« Excellent hotel great setting »

Had meeting in Farnham so booked here and was not disappointed. Check in was pleasant and friendly. My room was just a few meters from main hotel but my room was massive with sofa and huge bed. I had meal in the bar which was really good and not to busy. Breakfast was great with friendly staff on hand. I would recommend this hotel to all business and families.

    « Corporate Conference »

All aspects of a lunch time gathering, afternoon meeting and overnight stay for 35 important guests were handled very well by the staff of the Frensham Pond Hotel. The rooms were excellent and well equipped. The hotel is in a very nice quiet location.

    « Wedding »

We held our wedding here on the 29/10/16. The staff where amazing and so helpful couldn't do enough for us. Made us feel very welcome. The hotel itself is lovely inside and out. Beautiful scenery and very quiet. Our room was very nice and clean and had a decent shower. Definitely would recommend

« True hospitality, fantastic hotel »

From arrival to departure, we could not have been made more welcome and the staff could not have been more helpful and available. The team clearly care about people and the highest quality of service and this is evident at every touchpoint and interaction. Nothing is too much trouble, no matter what time of day or night. The room was exceptional, the food perfect and the hotel a real hidden gem in beautiful countryside. We left relaxed, happy and looking forward to a return visit.

    « A wonderful wedding weekend. »

We stayed at the Frensham Ponds Hotel over the weekend of our daughters wedding in Bentley. It was fabulous !! The staff were wonderful, from the receptionists to the bar staff, waiters and house keeping staff . The room was excellent and overlooking the garden. Great breakfast. The setting is amazing and I would highly recommend a stay there .

    « Good in parts »

A strange hotel. Rather a Raj appearance, but with a lot of grey wood inside, nice rooms, average dinners and institutional breakfasts. The evening meal was OK, the service quite charming, but the breakfast tomato juice was devastating!

    « What a Wonderful Place »

A treat! Probably not the cheapest, but worth the little extra. Comfortable room, excellent shower, a beautiful location for a walk, run or bicycle ride. We had dinner on both nights, food was very good and service was good overall. Although I found it unusual that I was asked if I would like to see the dessert menu whilst I was still eating my dinner? Would most definitely stay here again. Jules & Martin

« Fantastic stay at this hotel - highly recommend »

Stayed at the Frensham Pond Hotel 23rd-24th October 2016. Everything was fantastic about the Frensham Pond hotel. Its ideal tranquil location, great looking modern rooms and appealing exterior. Our room had so many nice finishing touches in, little details you don't get anywhere else. Received an upgrade also for no extra charge - would 10/10 recommend spending time here, it's a must!!

    « Relaxing Mini Break »

Just returned from a mini break at this fantastic little hotel. It is situated in the most picturesque tranquil setting overlooking Frensham Pond ideal for a truly relaxing 'getaway from it all' break which we were much in need of. Our room was magnificent overlooking the pond with a huge terraced area. The bathroom contained both a luxurious jacuzzi style bath and a separate shower. We had afternoon tea in the restaurant overlooking the pond which I'm sure would be wonderful outside on a summers day. The tea was perfect with a great selection of sandwiches, scones and a wide variety of mini cakes - much too much and beautifully presented. The staff were friendly and attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed dinner in the evening, again in the restaurant, but several guests were enjoying a meal in the bar area which was less formal. Although a relatively small menu I'm sure there was something to suit all tastes. The mushroom and chestnut soup was delicious as was the salmon and belly pork and the sticky toffee pudding and homemade ice cream. The buffet breakfast was ideal with a choice of continental or full English - perfect to set you up for the day. We had a truly wonderful break at this gem of a hotel and can't recommend it enough.

    « My Daughters wedding »

Cant recommend this place enough, we were fortunate enough to have our daughters wedding here. The customer care from the entire staff was outstanding, Marla the events manager was superb. The food was brilliant and the atmosphere of the whole hotel was wonderful. The location is beautiful with views across the lake and made a great back drop for photos. Would also highly recommend the resident DJ as well, performed a brilliant set for the evening reception. Thank you all for an incredible day and night

    « Great! »

Stayed here a few weeks ago, staff were brilliant, food was delicious! Staff were so attentive to us and couldn't fault anything about our stay. Had afternoon tea as well, disappointed I couldn't finish it all and Just wish it could have been longer!

« Quiet lovely room and great service »

We stayed here for only one night but came away agreeing it was the best hotel we had stayed in for years. The staff are very helpful and welcoming. The room was very pleasant and comfortable. It was quiet and the location was delightful. Our only criticism is that there was buffet breakfast, you could still get hot food and it wsa v good but that was little disappointing

« Great hotel with an excellent restaurant! »

We stayed at the Best Western Frensham Pond on the night before a relative's wedding. We were greeted in a warm and friendly manner at reception despite the late hour, where we were delighted to hear that 2 out of the 3 rooms we'd booked had been upgraded! The upgraded suites were huge and very comfortable. I stayed in the non-upgraded room but it was still pretty terrific - the beds were comfortable, the room was spacious with a sofa and additional sitting chairs, and the bathroom was very sleek and modern with a rain shower as well as a handheld shower with amazing water pressure! We did have a glitch in the middle of the night when I believe the simultaneous use of our hairdryer and kettle caused the circuit breaker to disconnect!! We sat in the dark for a while until we managed to find the night manager to talk to, who came and fixed the problem for us. He was very polite, apologetic and helpful. No other glitches, apart from a lack of minibar/fridge? We had nowhere to keep the bubbly cold :( but there was a wide range of tea and coffee available. We had an early start the next day which we began with breakfast at the hotel - a good selection of warm and cold breakfast foods and fresh coffee brought to our table. Everything we tried was delicious! We checked out the next morning very content and we'd definitely stay again if around the area. We also dined at the restaurant on the first night - we were given the choice of a three or two course menu with a selection of meat/fish/vegetarian options. The food was excellent! It was tasty as well as inspired, and the presentation was beautiful. Everything including coffee and dessert was perfect, and the service was great too. All in all our stay was great and the staff were very helpful throughout. It's a shame we were too busy to enjoy the pond!!

« Peaceful surroundings with fantastic staff - a superb venue for a break »

The hotel is only a few minutes drive from the main road but due to the trees around the large pond you cannot hear any traffic so it's very peaceful. Check in was quick and easy. The room was well equipped, with a fridge and a safe. There was a large large walk in shower. Wifi was freely available. We ate our evening meals in the restaurant and they were beautifully cooked and I would recommend the steak I was a bit disappointed to have exactly the same menu both nights and would have liked to see some daily specials. All staff were attentive throughout our stay and very helpful.

« Great quiet location, with a room overlooking the pond »

The hotel is located in a quiet area and we chose a room overlooking the pond. The room and bathroom were modern and refurbished .The breakfast can be delivered to your room or you can eat in the dining room. The staff are professional. Great place to stay and relax .

    « Highly recommend »

Staff excellent. Food excellent. Rooms, clean, comfortable. Will definitely be back again. Very peaceful location. Lots of local attractions to keep any family occupied. And if the weather is nice, then a walk around the pond is very relaxing

« Wells Cousins Reunion Weekend »

A lovely hotel all recently refurbished and in a beautiful setting. Our rooms were spacious and well stocked, with several opening onto the garden. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly, especially Dan who was marvellous organising our large booking of 11 rooms. The Dinner on Saturday night was especially good - the food was probably the best we have had in all 7 of these reunions we have held every other year over the last 15 years or so! All in all a great weekend!

    « Afternoon Tea »

Three friends and myself have decided that once a month we will have afternoon tea at different venues.To-day was the turn of Frensham Ponds. Cannot fault them, Onbooking lnformed them I was lactose free, as I do for any meal out, due note was made of this, I can assure you this doesn't happen everywhere, On arrival the server checked as to which member was lactose free, we all had the most enjoyable tea, I had as much choice of cake as my friends, very unusual. Most of all it was very, very good value.only one complaint, fast diet, go on holiday in 6 days! Thanks F. P.H. We will be back

« A bad experience made worse by the hotels poor response »

Whilst I am sure this is generally a good hotel, we had an extremely bad experience at the hotel and the way my complaints have been handled has led to my review. We were staying at this hotel as my nephew was getting married locally and we thought this hotel would make for a pleasant stay. When we arrived at the hotel we started with lunch in the bar as we knew we would not be eating till late, sadly when it finally arrived the soup was cold, the chips were cold, the sandwiches soggy and inedible. A complaint was made but no action was taken, due to time pressures we had to leave and could not take the matter any further (a refund was provided several weeks later). We checked into our room to find out that despite booking months in advance we had not been given a family room, instead a standard room with small sofa bed which was made into a bed whilst we were attending the wedding. When we arrived back at midnight we put our children to bed only to receive complaints that they were cold due to only being provided a single duvet. We called down to reception to request an additional duvet, 10 minutes later reception called back to say no duvets were available and would we like towels for the children to sleep under!! I informed them that this was not acceptable and told them to come back to me. 15 minutes later we finally received a duvet and the children could at last get to sleep. When you are paying £150 per night being offered a towel to sleep under is unacceptable. Having to wait 30 minutes before the children could go to sleep is unacceptable. The next morning we once again had to call reception, ironically this time it was for towels as only 2 had been provided for the 4 occupants that the room was booked for. Due to the disastrous lunch we decided to go for breakfast elsewhere as we wanted good food. Had we decided to eat in the hotel we discovered that despite our young children not eating anything like a full grown adult you still had to pay £15 for their breakfast as there are no concessions for children. When we came to check out despite booking a 4 person room they then tried to charge us an additional £15 for use of the sofa bed with a single Duvet. A complaint was made to the excellent Operations Manager and the sofa bed charge was removed. Since then I have been in touch with the Operations Manager and following a formal complaint we have received a refund on the poor quality lunch but despite paying £150 for a poor stay no refund/part refund has been offered. In fact the only thing that has been offered is a £33 discount on a suite if we decide to return. So they are saying that we messed up first time round so if you spend another £150 with us we will make it up to you!! Having wasted £150 on this hotel already I won't be making the same mistake again.

    « Weekend celebration »

This was a surprise visit to celebrate my birthday and it could not have been a better choice, the location, the hotel itself and the staff were absolutely wonderful. The refurbishment of the hotel has been very tastefully done and to a very high standard. We could not recommend the hotel enough if you were looking for a relaxing break. The scenery was fantastic and brought back to us some very happy memories of its location.

« THis Hotle keeps on Giving - Highly Recommended »

Very modern, clean, quiet and comfortable Hotel. Professional, efficient and friendly staff who a very attentive. WiFi is important during my visit and the staff always ensure that I am accommodated in a room with excellent WiFi reception. Although not requested, I was upgraded to a Garden Room which was very relaxing and enjoyable. Ideal for either business travel or a romantic break with your loved one.

    « A Family Challenge! »

My wife had discovered Frensham Pond in a book of picnics so it had been agreed to visit -the the challenge became to walk completely around the lake. It was some pleasant surprise went we spotted the hotel. We could see the place had been taken over by a wedding so we sat on the 'secret island' with its relaxing view. My daughter went inside and surprisingly easily ordered tea and biscuits which were speedily delivered over the small bridge. Wonderful service thank you for completing a lovely afternoon.

    4
« Not for the mobility challenged! »

What a great pity! The Frensham Pond hotel scores very well on pretty well on all criteria and we would have no hesitation about re-visiting it whenever we were in the area but wheelchair access is a no-no. 4 steps down from the reception area then a further 4 to the restaurant and bar level make it challenging to say the least. The alternative is to leave the hotel and walk round the road (unlighted at night) and then re-enter at restaurant level - not a very good idea when dry and certainly not in the rain. I ordered an easy access room which was duly provided and if only the requested grab rail had been in the walk-in shower had been there, all would have been well but sadly the holes were in the wall but no grab rail! Yes, we were offered an alternative by the helpful receptionist but it shouldn't have been necessary. The positives were many and included the furnishing throughout, the overall cleanliness and the setting, overlooking the Frensham Pond. The best feature was the very helpful staff who made us most welcome. To summarise: if you are able to walk, do not have the need for wi-fi in your room nor require a mobile signal then please use this hotel - you will be very pleased and comfortable. DPL80

    « Excellent Afternoon Tea »

We recently visited the hotel for afternoon tea. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food delicious and the views beautiful. I had asked for a milk and egg free serving to accommodate allergies and was really impressed with the food I was served. Would definitely recommend.

« Lovely hotel, just a few tweaks »

We were invited to a party here at the weekend and the hotel put on some lovely food and we all had a great time. Our room was nicely decorated with the usual TV, hairdryer and tea/coffee making facilities. The bathroom was of a good size with a vertical rain shower, one problem with this though was that the tray wasn't deep enough and over flowed onto the floor making it slippery, a towel stopped most of it. The bed was very comfortable. The morning breakfast was abit of a let down and for £14.95 a tad expensive. There was everything there but the likes of the scrambled egg was too runny, the bacon wasn't the best cut and the mushrooms were tinned. These little problems wouldn't dissuade us from going again as we had a lovely time.

« First Time in Frenham Pond »

Outstanding rooms, spectacular views, very professional and friendly staff - a great stay. This was out first visit and whilst we arrived very late in the evening we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very helpful. The garden room was wonderful and the bar / restaurant exceptional. I will be visiting again!

    « Super lake-side hotel »

We spent five nights at Frensham Pond Hotel in a garden room and were entirely happy with everything. Very comfortable king size bed, decent shower (not one of those nasty electric showers that are so common in the U.K.), clean as can be, efficient staff, buffet breakfast offering a good choice. Mobile connectivity rather feeble but, again, that's not uncommon in England!

We have just got married at this hotel and would love to share the wonderful experience we had here. Mala the Sales and events manager did us proud. All our contact with her was dealt with by her smiling, helpful and reassuring attitude. The rest of the staff need recognising too with the excellent manner that they Treat their guests with. The hotel has been beautifully renovated to a very high standard and the rooms are very clean and modern as a result. All in all, this hotel is superb and comes highly recommend by us.

    « Excellent »

Just returned from 5 night stay at Frensham Pond Hotel. The hotel is located next to Frensham Pond in a lovely setting. Stayed in an exective king with outside patio which is covered and has 2 chairs and table, perfect for sitting out and relaxing. Lovely room with comfortable very large bed and excellent walk in shower. Enjoyed the food in the Watermark Restaurant. Menu stays the same each day but we were able to order of bar menu or put in special requests. The staff were all very helpful and efficient.

    5
    « Overnight stay »

The room was comfortable and clean, a nice sized bed. The window overlooked the road, but even with it open there was very little traffic noise. Reasonable choice on dinner menu, which was well priced at £22 and food was tasty if not exceptional. Wifi was free, but did not work well in all parts of room, particularly if you sat back in the bed - OK at the foot of the bed.

    « Will be 5 star »

The most wonderful place the scenery , gardens , pond and decor , it will be superb WHEN all of the wonderful renovations have taken place, much is done and the rooms etc are excellent but work still in progress , not that affected our stay. It will be superb when completed the perfect venue for weddings or conferences

    « Lovely hotel »

My partner and I stayed at this hotel last night, while we waited for our dog do recover from an operation with the supervet. We found the staff to be extremely pleasant and helpful (especially Dan) The hotel is situated in a nice, quiet area and the views are stunning. The room was beautifully decorated with all the mod cons you could wish for. If I'm ever back in that part of the country, I shall definitely be staying there again!

« Stopped by for dinner »

Staff was warm, engaging and friendly. Lovely menu to choose from. The chorizo and mushroom starter was absolutely wonderful. For mains; the lamb was cooked perfectly, the chicken soft and tender. There was also a nice selection of vegetables which I enjoyed very much. For dessert; a creamy chocolate cake with delicious raspberry ice cream. The selection of cheeses was also highly enjoyed. We will most certainly come again.

    « Superb »

Stayed at The Best Western Frensham Pond 14-16 September 2016, met by warm and welcoming reception staff, our room was very clean and the kingsize bed so comfortable we felt very rested on waking. There is no lift but thats not a problem, the staircase is not large and its curve gives a lovely view of the reception area as you walk down, whilst there we ste in the restaurant, we got the 3 course deal and thoroughly enjoyed each course, definately recommend eating there, the food not only looked tasty, it was, refreshing to see each course taste as good as it looked. We also drank in the bar, prices not as high as some pubs, as with all wine wherever you go, it is best to think ahead and if more than 2 glasses will be ordered, buying the bottle may be the cheaper option, as each large glass £5.50. Our first day there we took a walk around the pond, so serene watching the pond and the wildlife, we enjoyed aftertoon tea in the hotel, the sandwich fingers each had different fillings (4 fingers) and plenty of small cakes & pastries all together on a quaint tiered cake stand, it is £17.95, but is enough food for 2 people, we just had an extra order of tea, it is worth it, a lovely afternoon tea in a lovely setting. We found the staff to be a credit to the hotel, so warm, friendly people, who are very hard working, giving time to engage with us. We definately recommend this hotel and we will be staying with them again. We had a lovely stay.

    « Best Best Western I've visited »

The best Best Western I've stayed at! Lovely location and recently refurbished (some works still going on when I stayed). We stayed in one of the chalet-style rooms, which were lovely. Each has a little balcony with seating and a bistro table. The room was well sized with good sized TV, air-conditioning and well appointed bathroom with Grohe/Villroy & Bosch fittings. The hotel reception/bar/restaurant is contemporary with comfy seating and views of the nearby lake. The food was good quality and the service excellent. We had lunch, dinner and breakfast. The hotel staff are friendly and professional and will go out of the way to make your stay a good one. There is a small business suite at the hotel which is useful for printing documents etc. Thoroughly recommended. I wish my business clients were closer by so so could stay more often!

« Good Hotel, Fantastic Location »

Stayed with three other couple for a friends wedding locally. I think the rooms have been refurbished and were clean, comfortable, a good size and ours had a king size bed. We only used the reception, bar and bedroom but from what we encountered, the staff were friendly and service very good. The hotel is located next to the lake which proved to be a bonus for a walk in the morning.

« Very comfortable hotel in lovely quiet surroundings »

Newly refurbished hotel in beautiful location on the edge of Frensham Pond. The rooms were modern and comfortable with a large comfy bed and a seating area. Bathroom had a walk in shower but no bath which suited us. Not sure if you can request a room with bath. The receptionist was charming and helpful. The bar was pleasant as was the outside seating overlooking the Great Pond. The artificial grass, though a surprise, looked remarkably good. The breakfast buffet was very good with a good selection of hot and cold food. This is the first hotel I have stayed in which had heated plates and piping hot food on the self service area which was frequently replenished. A lot of hotels often have only warm food on the buffets. Also the automatic toaster was set on maximum and actually toasted the bread properly on the first pass. Only small details but very noticeable.

Lovely hotel with ample parking. Clean and comfortable bedrooms and bathroom. Best of all was that the cleaning staff found my diamond bracelet which I'd left accidentally in the room and telephoned me to return it. Really appreciated their honesty. We would stay again if in the area.

    « Overall, very good »

There didn't appear to be a sign to reception. The reception staff were efficient and helpful, although at times it would have been helpful to have more than one receptionist. We couldn't fault the rooms, clean, comfortable and of a good size with functional shower room, adequate cupboards and good facilities. The food we had in the restaurant, dinner and breakfasts, was excellent; and the food from room service was also excellent and promptly served. Service at dinner was slow; one waiter was rude; and the wrong drinks were brought for breakfast, but replaced once pointed out. The steps to our building were unlit, which was dangerous at night. Overall, we enjoyed the stay, we would stay again, and we would expect that the service will improve.

    « Superb hotel! »

Beautiful hotel, newly refurbished with striking views over Frensham Great Pond. Only stayed one night but would definitely return. Set in luscious grounds we were lucky enough to stay in one of the hotel suites separate from the main hotel, . The suite is maintained to a very high standard and had only just been refurbished. Very luxurious Superking bed, tasteful decor and a gorgeous shower! Seating for two on small patio area overlooking the green was a bonus. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant, which was delicious and well worth a visit. We'd stayed here overnight to visit Frensham' s manmade beach as there was a mini heatwave in September and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! A perfect getaway and very highly recommended.

    « Very pleasant »

Stayed here for a wedding and I was pleased with it all. Room was a good size, with a large, comfortable bed, in a close location. Breakfast was buffet and there was plenty of choice. Would of given a full 5 stars if we didn't have to confront the bar staff for over charging on more than one occasion but I believe that was sorted by management in an appropriate manner. Can't fault the whole team for one persons stupidity. Other than that, a pleasant stay.

    « Lovely hotel »

Stayed for two nights with friends. Hotel is a bit out of the way about four miles outside of Farnham in a lovely peaceful spot, hotel has been refurbished to a good standard. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant one night and the food and service were good. Staff are attentive and efficient in the hotel, helpful reception and bar staff. We did not see anywhere else to go to eat near by so would need to take taxi or drive if you did not want to eat in the hotel. Hotel also provides packed lunches if you pre-order. Free wifi worked well.

« Lovely Hotel, in need of a polish »

I have stayed at the hotel three times in the past month and each time there has been a small issue that is promptly ironed out by the friendly helpful staff. I will be using the hotel again as it rooms, meals and staff far surpass others within the area.

    « Just lovely »

We stayed in a room in the main hotel area. It was well designed, with generous cupboard space and a large desk. Furnishings complemented the hotel, which is situated next to a beautiful pond., Some accommodation is offered closer to the water. There are also fabulous walking trails. The bar offered good service and beer on tap. Staff were friendly and helpful. They have their own restaurant and also offer room service. We thoroughly enjoyed our few nights stay and would recommend it to our friends.

    « Disappointing »

We only stayed for 1 night after a family event nearby. The location is lovely and would make a good base for a walking weekend. There is no lift. The hotel is let down by its staff. On arrival we ordered coffee, but after waiting 15 minutes for it, we went to look for the staff member. She had forgotten and was moving tables. Also our shower tray overflowed onto the bathroom floor because the drain was blocked with hairs. The bedroom and en suite were new, so it was something maintenance could easily keep an eye on.

    « Excellent »

The title of the review says it all ! I haven't stayed for nearly a year and the continuing improvements are obvious from the time you turn into the car park. The service was excellent from check in, bar, restaurant (dinner and breakfast) and check out. I decided to eat in the restaurant and the food was excellent (sorry I keep using this word) I had chorizo and mushroom followed by trio of lamb. The room was well appointed, bed comfortable, plenty of hot water and Text on the television. Good value for money too, I have already booked my next visit.

    « Perfect place for a wedding »

I have just come back from photographing a wedding at this venue. I also visited last week to get my bearings for today's events. I have to say that as far as the staff go, nothing is too much trouble for them. They are warm, accommodating and go that extra mile. The venue itself is absolutely stunning with lots of little details which makes for some lovely photographs. i didn't eat here but what I saw of the food looked amazing. The place is clean and well maintained and the service has been next to none. Would wholly recommend this venue.

    « Wonderful! »

Last week, my wife & i hosted a lunch for 50 of our family & closest friends at the hotel to celebrate her birthday. Not our first event there, as we have hosted two dinner & dances for our major birthdays, my fathers 70th birthday & my daughters wedding at the hotel to over the last 20 years. Kevin, he general manager has been there for all of them & we think of him as a friend. Mala, who did all the organisation for the lunch is delightful & ran everything perfectly. Since our last major event the owner of the hotel has spent millions on the place & it really shows especially in the bedrooms which are now modern, air conditioned & extremely comfortable. We had reception drinks on the little island in front of the hotel. This too has been completely refurbished & is now a magical setting. The food was excellent too & the chef & his brigade in the kitchen are a great asset to the hotel. In over 20 years of knowing the hotel ,this was,by far & away, the best event we have hosted.

This hotel is well presented and served excellent b/fast. I had a great room looking right over the lake which was wonderful to see the wildlife in the morning. The food at breakfast was excellent and the waitress I had was absolutely wonderful.

    « OKish. »

Hotel was clean, modern and in a great location. Service was a bit iffy. Twice I had to wait ages for service at reception despite furiously ringing the bell. The bar wasn't permanently staffed leading to queues and frustration.

Lovely room and shower room. Very fresh and modern. Would have liked some drawer space. Hotel has been recently refurbished and it looks good. Food was very good, and they catered well for gluten-free and vegetarian. Very friendly and helpful staff. Location and outlook from the hotel is superb with excellent walking in the area.

« Fantastic place to stay on our wedding night!!! »

I and my wife spend our wedding night here. Just had a standard room and it was brilliant, bed was massive, bathroom had a lovely big walk in shower, and room was tidy and very up to date. They let me park my car in the car park the day before as were being dropped off at 1am so we had a car the next morning. I asked to arrange a special breakfast for the morning on the pond which is something they do not do, however they were more than happy to do this for me and my new wife. It was amazing; we had a table on their deck with the pond, very special way to spend our first morning as husband and wife. Adriano, who I believe arranged this was incredible, gave us anything we wanted and made it extra special. The hotel overall was fantastic and would be a lovely break for anyone who is stopping in the area would highly recommended, the girl on reception (sadly didn't catch her name) was also lovely. Thank you so much for making it a lovely night stay and beautiful breakfast.

    « Little disappointed »

Stayed here for 1 night, hotel was immaculate and looked like a 5* hotel. The only thing that let it down was partly my fault, I left a expensive toothbrush (£100) in my room, when I noticed that night it was missing I emailed and they said they didn't not have it. Maybe the cleaner binned it or is now cleaning their teeth with it. Shame as I now have to buy another. :-(

    « Birthday treat »

Took my family, including two youngsters to lunch in the restaurant. Couldn't have been more impressed, especially with the staff. The head waiter was a gem, very attentive and accommodating. The food was excellent, and children were served first to keep them happy. Overall a great place for lunch and brilliant value. Highly recommended.

    « My only ccomplaint »

There was only one complaint I made and that was for breakfast on the first morning..Grilled bacon was just fatty pieces of bacon. I expect slices of lean bacon when grilled. I did not eat same but sent it back. I had just poached egg on toast instead. I made my feelings felt to reception and they dealt with the whole thing and apologised and later a head of staff spoke to me of my complaint and again full apologise were made.. having said this I will return to the hotel at some point and recommend it to my friends..

    « Perfect Weekend Away »

We recently stayed at Frensham Pond and right from the moment we checked in the staff were so helpful. We had a beautiful room looking right over the lake which was wonderful to see the wildlife in the morning. The food at breakfast and dinner was excellent and the waitress we had for both nights was absolutely wonderful. We defiantly recommend this hotel for a peaceful weekend!

    « Watermark Restaurant »

Took a friend and her elderly mother for birthday lunch in the Watermark Restaurant. Excellent choice of food from set menu and extremely good value. Staff were very kind, attentive and nothing was too much bother. If you are looking for somewhere different to eat rather than one of the many gastro style pubs in the area really do try this restaurant. Dined on a Monday and it was very quiet, however don't be put off, it was nice not to be surrounded by other diners especially with an elderly lady who is hard of hearing. Lovely setting by Frensham big pond and will certainly recommend restaurant to friends. You can always have a walk around the pond and then return for afternoon tea.

    « A beautiful retreat »

We stayed one night as a birthday treat. The room overlooked Frensham pond and was just lovely. We found out on arrival that a refurb of the pool had just started so we had a quiet drink on the terrace instead and watched the world go by. Dinner in the restaurant was very good and excellent value. All in all a lovely break.

« Birthday lunch in Watermark Restaurant »

I reserved a table for my mother-in-law's birthday and the staff could not have been kinder. The food was a very good standard with a good choice from the set menu (3 courses for £18.50). The service was excellent and we were highly delighted to receive complimentary Kir Royal to celebrate the birthday. Thank you to everyone - we will be back!

Fantastic setting overlooking the beautiful pond . Staff very pleasant and helpful . Dinner and breakfast very good . We had an executive room "Birch" overlooking the pond which was lovely . I think standard rooms are at the rear with obviously no view but still very nice . Will defiantly return !

« Restaurant: A very pleasant afternoon with good quality food close to the waters edge »

We went here the other day for a light meal at lunchtime / early afternoon. Top service and very good food at reasonable prices. We sat and watched the boats on the pond while having our lunch. I had the burger with chips and salad, others in our party had the caesar salad with chicken and bowl of chips. All were well presented and piping hot. You have to go into the bar to order the food. They then bring it out to your table. The drinks were hotel prices, so slightly higher than pub prices. Overall, an enjoyable afternoon out in the countryside.

    « Simply beautiful »

Set in a beautiful location this hotel was just perfect. Staff were very busy when we arrived with a wedding but this didn't stop them checking us in efficiently with a friendly manner. Both rooms were perfect, 1 in the main building overlooking the pond and the other a garden room with a terrace. Weather was glorious but due to a wedding we could not sit out by the pond as all the outdoor space was closed for a wedding from 1.00 pm till 7.00pm and most of the bar area was closed as well. Lovely for the wedding guests but not for hotel guests. Luckily staff were accommodating and brought 2 extra chairs to our terrace so we could all sit together although they could not serve afternoon tea at the same time as the wedding guests and had to wait nearly an hour for it to arrive. Had breakfast and 1 evening meal in the restaurant and couldn't fault the food or staff. Ate at cote french brasserie in frensham and an Indian restaurant in churt both would recommend. One thing to watch out for is the taxi prices as it didn't matter how short the journey was they charged £15 as they had to travel out to the hotel. Visited Thorpe park and chessington world of adventure while here both good days out. This is a beautiful hotel in a stunning location with excellent staff, especially Kayleigh on reception who went out of her way to help. Would definitely visit again but hotel need to be able to cater for a wedding and other hotel guests at the same time, if we hadn't had the garden room we would have had no where to sit.

« Absolutely Amazing Overnight Stay. »

I don't know where to start, because I feel there is a lot to be said for this Hotel.(So forgive me!)I had booked myself and my husband at this hotel for an overnight stay before returning back to Hertfordshire. After spending 3 day's(Friday to Sunday)on an Annual Islamic Convention in Alton.I had my reservations about this hotel, as it seemed like it was in the middle of no where. And when I am unable to monitor anything that is out of my control my anxiety levels tend to increase. But nevertheless when arriving at Best Western Frensham Pond Hotel. Klari (evening receptionist) had welcomed us, with good customer service, great smile, and reassurance. We requested a Taxi Service for the following morning and it was booked without any trouble. We had booked a double room, but due to the needs of the Hotel. We were very fortunate to be upgraded to Superior Room, without a fee courtesy of the Hotel. (Never has that happened to me before!)May I say THANK YOU for that!Because the room exceeded my expectations!Absolutely amazing decor/interior!Fantastic resources and facilities. Then the following morning, woke up from an amazing sleep! (First one in 3 days!) We had breakfast before leaving, again great staff, great welcome, good selection of food, fresh, and easy accessible. After we had breakfast,we had half hour before our Taxi was due to arrive so we decided to return to our room to pack the rest of our belongings.15 mins before we were due to leave. We received a call from the lovely Kaylee (Morning Receptionist) to say that our taxi has arrived. Now that is called prompt! So as we departured we said our goodbyes to Kaylee and begun our journey to London. So overall the experience was a really fantastic one, to the point that I am already looking forward to booking our stay for next year. This time for more then one night! But nevertheless this one nighter was a taster that I was happy to experience! All Staff At Frensham Pond should be pleased with their hospitality, because it is the staff that make the customers stay an amazing experience to remember. Please continue to do so. And to say the least it is not often noticeable when staying at other hotels in the UK how great the Hospitality is at a Hotel. :)

    « Faultl »

I've just spent a wonderful time at the Best Western Frensham Pond. We had a Superior Double room and it was faultless. From arrival at reception to the room, the food and staff the whole experience was a pleasure. The room was spotlessly clean, every item was in its place. A large room, nicely appointed furnishings and a bed I wanted to take home with me. Little things like the heated keep clear mirror, illuminated close up mirror in the bathroom and air conditioning that maintained the room at the perfect temperature just make the difference from an average stay to a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Breakfast has extensive choices all of which were fresh and delicious.

    « Couldn't ask for more »

My partner and I recently attended for a nearby wedding and we literally couldn't have asked for more. This attractive, well set out and sophisticatedly furnished hotel was not only very good value but was also set in beautiful grounds. The staff were attentive and engaging and even kept the kitchen and bar open literally as late as the wedding guests (who weren't even having the wedding at the hotel) wished for. A well equipped gym and free wifi that actually worked was well appreciated and for under 100 quid we were very impressed. We both commented how unfortunate it was we hadn't spent more time there and I have no doubt we will return.

« A lovely setting with great modern rooms »

The beautiful setting makes the hotel what it is. The rooms are lovely and modern and the decor of the hotel is lovely. Unfortunately the fire alarm went off at 10:30pm which was rather annoying as no one knew what was going on, but I'm sure that was just a one off incident. Also the shower was a little cold. Being able to sit outside to eat with the backdrop of the pond was really stunning. There is a lot of parking so getting there is no issue. Also the Wifi was very good quality. The bed we had in our room was massive and very very comfy - it was hard going back to my normal bed! Air conditioning in the rooms is also a bonus that you don't often get in British hotels. Overall, we had a lovely time and would definitely stay again.

« 2nd Wedding in the family to be held at this beautiful venue »

My mum and dad got married here 2 years ago, Mala and her team did an amazing job that when it was my turn to play bride - there was no doubt in my mind where I wanted my reception to be. Mala played her role for us again - and took charge of looking after us. I cannot fault the service. from the moment I stepped out of the car we were looked after. The food is fantastic - all my guests enjoyed the canapes, wedding breakfast and evening buffet. The staff did an excellent job of setting the room up beautifully with the decorations we supplied. My suppliers liaised with the hotel direct - which helped enormously. With the venue having a redecoration everywhere it felt fresh and new. The upgraded areas oustide are fantastic! (no soggy shoes to get that picture of the pond)! Its so nice to work with someone like Mala who is calm and organised as it really takes the stress out of the wedding planning. All in all our guests had an amazing day and I have been inundated with compliments for the hotel. My husband and I stayed the night and slept really well. The room was spacious. The breakfast was lovely - so nice to have so much choice. What more can i say - thanks for a great day Frensham! xxxx

I have just returned from Frensham Pond hotel where I had a very enjoyable afternoon sitting relaxing in the lounge and in the restaurant where we had the afternoon cream tea. « Overnight stay »

A lovely spot for a hotel. Unfortunately it was raining during our stay but what little of the gardens we saw looked beautiful. A lovely spacious, comfortable room & bathroom. Plenty of towels supplied along with a hairdrier, iron & ironing board (although we didn't use those!), toiletries in the bathroom & tea, coffee & hot chocolate making facilities. The bed was really comfortable and the shower was one of those big square headed ones that gives you a good soaking, not just a little dribble! Would certainly stay again if we were in that area. There is free wifi in the rooms but we found the signal a bit iffy. Actual phone signal was almost non-existant. Ok for a quiet overnight stay though.

« Excellent room. Will definitely stay again. »

A lovely hotel on a quiet lane with views over gardens & the lake. The room was spacious, the bed extremely comfortable and the 11am checkout time made for a pleasant leisurely start next day. The icing on the cake was the comfy sofa in the room. So many hotels do not provide somewhere to sit & relax, so thank you for this extra luxury. The bathroom was bright modern & spotless and the shower generous in size & water flow. Quality tea & coffee is provided in the room. The only drawback was the poor in-room wifi but having said that they do provide a business centre for those who need it. The mobile phone reception in this area is very poor but, of course this is nothing to do with the hotel. Some providers may be better than others. I'm with EE and had no reception in the room at all.

« Wonderful wedding last year »

From start to finish our experience of Frensham Pond Hotel was absolutely outstanding! I can not speak highly enough of Mala the events organiser who provides a highly professional, but also highly personal service. Communicating regularly with us via email and always extremely well organised. The day ran very smoothly and every detail was perfectly attended to with with great care by the hotel. The staff were friendly, polite and attentive throughout the day. Our guests commented on how delicious the food was and there was a tantalising selection of options to choose from when planning our menu. The setting of the hotel is beautifully picturesque and the owners have added great features such as the bridge and arbour which make the most of the stunning lakeside position of the hotel. Thank you again for a wonderful magical day and memories that will last a lifetime. I thoroughly recommended the hotel as a wedding venue.

« Disappointing, Would never stay again! »

We visited this hotel to attend a wedding. To begin with the hotel seemed very helpful offering early check-in rooms for a cost of £20. The wedding started at midday and the majority of the guests had a long way to come so this would booked by several of us. When we arrived, all with confirmation emails of the 10.30am check in the receptionist said it wasn't a guarantee and there weren't any rooms ready. They did manage to get one or two of the rooms ready by 11.15am but others had to change in the toilets. Luckily we were "let off" the £20 but the hotel had no intention of giving any other form of apology for the distress caused. 120 people attended the wedding and the bar in the hotel was manned by just one employee. This was brought to the attention of the hotel who did eventually (around 10.30pm) but another member of staff on the bar temporarily. In the morning we were informed that breakfast would finish at 9.30am as they had to prepare the room for another wedding. Due to this we missed breakfast. 9.30am to us seemed excessively early for a Sunday morning. The hotel had several opportunities to attempt to appease the numerous guests who had suffered all the above issues however the attitude was very much a "tough luck" one. The receptionist did finally get her manager as we were checking out and he too had a poor attitude. This is a franchise of Best Western I believe and I have stayed in others that were perfectly acceptable. This hotel doesn't understand the meaning of Customer Service or the value of return business. We most certainly WONT be returning.

    « Refurbished accommodation »

We've just.arrived and are very pleased with the standard of the room. (The Oak). This hotel by a boating lake is no sleepy backwater place resting on its laurels. The accommodation is finished to a very high standard. There`s also a well appointed, spacious gym. The staff are friendly and efficient. Let you know how the breakfast went tomorrow.

    « Superb experience »

Booked the honeymoon suite as a surprise for my parents. They were very impressed with the hotel and all it had to offer. Their room was amazing, very clean and spacious with its own private patio. We joined them for an afternoon tea on the terrace overlooking the pond. The afternoon tea consisted of mouth watering homemade scones, macaroons, dainty tartlets and much more. Peter provided excellent service and nothing was too much trouble. Thanks to all the staff that made their stay spectacular.

    « Lovely Place »

Great place and lovely setting, great price and fantastic breakfast. Loved the pontoon bit by the lake where you could sit and have a beer. I came here with work but would easily come here on a holiday. Only very slight problem was the gym that was close to my room, meaning the vibrations from people running on the treadmill were slightly annoying when watching TV. But otherwise fantastic place to stop at.

« Great location overall poor service »

A weekend stay. The hotel is situated in a fabulous location with the banks of the magnificent Frensham Pond, more like a very large lake only a few seconds away with a seating area here belonging to the hotel. The 'pond' was circumnavigated and is a great walk, with wooded and sanctuary areas together with a long stretch of sandy beach. Evidently the water is clean enough for swimming and a sailing club is nearby. All very atmospheric especially on a sunny early morning. There is a ' no smoking' stretch of 'plastic grass' at the side of the hotel facing the dining area with tables and sun umbrellas facing the pond. With only one member of staff evident in the bar area, the service here was not very good and one had to wait patiently for attention or else wait at the bar for a staff member. The customer facing staff at reception were smart, polite and attentive. I had a problem with the air con and a reception girl offered, and came to the room whilst sorting the matter. A family member had a broken toilet seat upon arrival and was told that there were no repair contractors available until the following Monday, so this problem was not fixed. There was no hair dryer in situ in this room either although one was made available. The room I stayed in for two days was facing Bacon Lane on the first floor, it was clean and included items one would expect, hair dryer, iron and ironing board, tv, air con, shampoo etc. Windows could be opened slightly with restrictors in place. I could see that corridors leading to my room area were shabby with no cleaning evident near to the ground floor entrance/exit glass doors, subsequently the areas did not look cared for. Breakfast I felt was a shambles. The staff here were not very attentive and forgetful after a request(s). A wedding reception had taken place on the Saturday evening and staff were still clearing and cleaning on the Sunday morning. On both Saturday and Sunday mornings breakfast tables were left uncleared and the dining area looked scruffy with a minimum of staff rushing around. The cooked breakfasts were warm, greasy and uninviting and not worth the money, although there was a continental breakfast of sorts available. Hotel car parking on a bend on Bacon Lane opposite the hotel means a trek with the luggage across what can be a busy vehicular and equine country road. There are some spaces at the rear of the premises. There is a cattery and kennels at the side of the hotel and the barking of dogs could be heard in the early hours. With chalets at the rear this could be irksome. Finale: Excellent location - inattentive staff other than reception - could be cleaner in communal areas - barking dogs at night - requires a handy person at weekends - breakfast should be improved upon.

    « No room available »

We have just returned from the hotel after what should of been a 2 night stay (Friday 22- Sunday 24th July). We were staying there as we were attending a wedding further up the road. Initially I reserved 3 rooms for the Saturday night, but then called to change the booking several weeks ago to just one room but for two nights. After asking for a confirmation by e mail to confirm the change, I was informed that it wasn't necessary as the person on reservations was making the changes as we were speaking. Upon our arrival and checking in on Friday afternoon, they could not find our booking. After going through a few different names, our booking was then found, but was the original booking for one night and three rooms. Unfortuantely as I did not have any e mail for confirmation, I did not have any proof of call. The hotel admitted that they had probably made a mistake, but they were fully booked for the Friday evening. Didn't really receive any apology from the staff. She went off to find a Manager, who didn't even have the decency to come out and talk to us. The receptionist did call a couple of hotels in the area and found us a room at the Bel and Dragon, which I have to say was fantastic. We then asked for an early check in for the next day as we were being collected from the hotel at 2.10 for the wedding. They offered us a midday check in which in the end was fine. Fortunately they cancelled our other rooms on the Friday, but this still should of been done weeks earlier. The hotel itself was fine, in a lovely setting and was comfortable. We came down for breakfast on Sunday morning about 9.15am and there was a limited choice of cooked food. Although breakfast finished at 10, we felt that they were removing the hot food and not replacing it, even though people were still coming down. There wasn't any bread and no plates. We thought the breakfast was a bit disappointing for a 4 star hotel. On checking out, I asked if there was any compensation for the booking error. The receptionist said she would pass my comments on to the head receptionist who would contact me on due course. WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!

« Tranquil lunch on the terrace »

I used to visit Frensham Great Pond with my children, now adult and haven't been there for some time. I was aware of the Hotel, but hadn't been there before for lunch. It was my friend's birthday and I suggested going there, as we wanted waterside, peaceful surroundings. it was a Friday. The weather was warm but skies were grey. None of that mattered as we sat very comfortably on the terrace, with a delicious bar menu lunch in the beautiful surroundings of the Pond. The service and food was excellent. There was plenty of choice on the menu and we opted for a main course. After a relaxed and peaceful lunch we ventured over the little bridge where a few tables were occupied for lunch, drinks, coffees and then a group for afternoon tea. We sat there for a little while then walked around the area. I fully recommend the Hotel for a meal and just as we were leaving a group of people were arriving with wedding hats and suit bags, presumably for a wedding on Saturday. I expect this hotel is the perfect wedding venue with exclusivity away from housing and traffic.

« Shame about disabled facilities »

Went with friends for a 4 night break. Lovely hotel and the staff were amazing. Regretfully our friend who has MS and needs a mobility scooter found it far to difficult to get around. From the ridge at the entrance to his room. The walk-in shower had no handled and very narrow for movement. But worse was the fact that he had to use the side entrance to the hotel and drive down the side road to get to the dining room. Ok in summer, but impossible if it is raining. The staff and especially the manager tried very hard to help, but after two nights we had to depart. Apparently the hotel is going to make further adjustments etc to accommodate, disabled guests. May we suggest that they employ a disabled person to advise as to what is required. The staff deserve the hotel to be brought up to standard.

« A truly relaxing and beautiful location »

The new extension building had some superby garden view rooms and each room had a seating area looking into the garden. The room was comfortable and spacious. The room was beautifully decorated with prints of the local area. The shower was spacious and modern. We also had afternoon tea which was served with delicate sandwiches, delicious cakes, freshly baked hot scones and service was excellent. After our tea we went for a short walk around the pond and there is seating overlooking the lake as well. I would definitely visit and recommend it to my friends.

« Excellent for an overnight, not so good for a longer stay »

I stayed here with my partner for a wedding in Farnham, lovely receptionist on duty and the room although the decor a little dated was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities you could need. We ordered some room service - I had the steak salad which was fantastic; best room service I have had for a while. Sadly it took us a while to order our room service as the phone didn't seem to connect to any of the numbers we dialed, lucky 0 for reception worked and we were transferred through. The other major issue I have with this hotel is the lack of wifi, now to some people this may not matter as they are away for a relaxing break sadly as someone who runs their own business good wifi is key. Also no phone signal to be found, although that's my providers fault not the hotels. All in all a pleasant hotel for a quick trip however people staying longer may find it difficult to organise plans due to no wifi and rack up quite a bill in taxi's

« Super hotel beautiful surroundings »

Great hotel currently being refurbished to what will be a high standard by the looks of what has been achieved so far with NO interference or noise by workmen. We stayed in the converted stables. Very nice room with a terrace to sit out in the evening. Restaurant food very good. We had an all inclusive rate and the menu choices were excellent and beautifully served. The breakfast buffet was cleared away promptly at 09:30 but at least we were told and could make further choices. Would recommend this hotel.

    « Peaceful break »

Stayed for two nights in the 'willow' honeymoon suite. I was a bit hesitant to book because there were no photos online of the private balcony and i didnt want it to be small, luckily i took the chance we were not disapointed it was huge! Amazing views only thing would of been nice to have a small table for two out there so you could enjoy eating on the balcony. The jacuzzi bath was excellent and we had breakfast which was good, lots of choice! Was unaware that we had to book dinner in the restaraunt in advance which was disapointing and having not much choice on the room service menu we had to order takeaway which was difficult given the remote location of the hotel and not many take aways around the area ! ! Room was spotless and air con in the room was brilliant as it was around 30degrees when we stayed! We enjoyed our stay but its a shame that there is not much to do in the area to fill time in the day! Even local shop is a fair distance so if stayig for more than one night make sure u have everything you need!

    « Beautifully stay »

Well what can I say, what a beautiful hotel with amazing scenery. The restaurant was out of this world, three courses went down a treat with my partner not usually enjoying a sweet treat but he couldn't get enough and the trio of lamb was delicious. The rooms are lovely with all the necessities needed and a brilliant shower, the air con was a godsend on the hot day we stayed. To top it all the staff were helpful and friendly, All in all couldn't of asked for a more beautiful hotel and a wonderful walk around the grounds.

    « Superbly relaxing stayover »

Booked this hotel for the night after Farnborough Air Show. Just knew this was going to be good as we drove into the car park. Situated by the side of a lake rather than a pond, it looks very nice indeed. The wife went to book in, while I started to unload the car, she came back and told me to put the gear back in the car. She said they have given us a free upgrade into a garden room, and they have there own car parking. Very impressed with the room, spotlessly clean beautifully presented, fitted out to a high standard, and had everything you could want in a hotel room, TV, fridge, safe, toiletries, coffee and tea, hot chocolate, air con that worked, a balcony, nice garden to look over if you wished. King size bed with proper pillows, not those bags of air. Round the front of the hotel is a large outdoor seating area with several tables all with umbrella's, and a further seating area by the side of the lake, which is where we sat and enjoyed a drink or few. Didn't use the dining room in the evening, but had breakfast there in the morning, and was just what I had expected, spot on Superb Hotel and staff and will certainly use again when anywhere near the area.

« Great lunch lovely location »

Had a lovely lunch today at Frensham Pond Hotel, the scenery is beautiful and on a sunny day it's picture perfect! We ordered from the bar and the food was great, very fresh and tasty, only thing I would say is the beef burger was slightly overdone and dry but next time I'll just ask for it to be cooked a little less. The service was really quick and friendly. Made a lovely day out and super lunch with friends. Definitely recommend

« Stunning location for a 25th Wedding anniversary mini break »

The hotel room was very spacious and clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We enjoyed our evening meal- there is a good choice of food on the menu. We were given complimentary Prosecco to enjoy with our meal, which was very welcome, thank you very much! The buffet breakfast was also very good, offering full english, as well as cereals and pastries. The outlook over the pond is stunning, and in front of the hotel there is a lovely area, the perfect place to enjoy drinks on a warm summer evening. We would definitely return, we loved it!

« All good. Nice hotel »

Really good location. Room was small but quite modern and recently refurbished to a good standard. Staff friendly. Would stay again. Bar could do with more choices of beer but still ok No need to say more other than trip advisor insisting on 200 characters

    « Amazing...... »

An amazing hotel. Room spotless, well presented and most importantly bed so comfortable. Food in the resturant was outstanding both my husband and I were not disapointed. Breakfast was also very good with a large selection. The location is outstanding and very peaceful. The staff were a credit to the hotel. All helpful and welcoming. This is somewhere we will be coming back too...

Just to say thank you to your team for doing a wonderful job looking after us all yesterday. The lunch went off without a hitch, your deputy even going out to fetch candles for the cake which I had forgotten! All the staff were polite and helpful. Great job!

    « Comfy large room »

We just stayed for one night for a friends wedding. Arrived early and luckily our room was ready so we could check in early. Didn't get to really experience the food or bar as wasn't there long enough. Large comfy beds! A little expensive but worth it for the nice, clean and comfortable rooms.

« Quiet rooms and good food »

Located in the country the area around the hotel is quiet as are the rooms. We couldn't hear any noise from the rooms around us which were all occupied. The food was excellent. Helpful staff. On the down side - no rubber mat for the shower. Internet in the rooms is intermittent depending on where your room is located. We were in the building across the way and wi-fi kept cutting out - if we went out in the hall it worked find. Be sure to try the Hogs Back lager on tap in the lounge. It is excellent.

« Excellent lunch and friendly service! »

I booked Frensham Pond Hotel for a reception and lunch for a large group (60 people). The drinks reception was great, with a free drink and the opportunity for people to buy more from the bar. We had a private room (the Garden Suite) for the lunch which opened out onto the garden area - luckily the sun came out after lunch so we could use it! The lunch was delicious and all the dietary requirements were well catered for. Thanks very much!

    « Excellent , beautifull . Friendly »

I love this hotel , my partner and I have stayed a few times just for a night away . I love it there . The hotel has just under gone a refit and is beautifull . The rooms are amazing . Very spacious and the beds are really comfortable and big ! There are no bad points about this hotel , it's location , the decor , the food and the staff are all brilliant . Amy on reception goes above and beyond her duties to help you if there's any sort of problem , ie we booked a twin instead of a double by mistake . Within 30 minutes she had sorted it for us , and to her it's no trouble at all . The food is lovely , we have tried a few things on the menu and liked all of them . If you want a bit of luxury in the countryside , stay here , it's beatifull .

    « A very enjoyable visit. »

The hotel is situated in a perfect location with very impressive views over a large lake. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was very comfortable and the food in the restaurant was excellent and sensibly priced.

« lovely room and helpful staff »

very comfy bed, good shower, great we could open the windows. Location of the hotel is a little bit out from Farnham, however, the surroundings are stunning. Nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff. We stayed in one of the newly done out rooms '23' over looking the grass area, very nice

    « Attending a wedding nearby »

Lovely hotel. Lovely staff. Great breakfast. I was attending a friends wedding at a venue nearby and this hotel was recommended by the bride to be. Nice and clean. Good car parking. Easy to find and a thoroughly good experience all around. No view of the ponds but can't complain as did not have time to take in the view in any event

« We would stay here again! »

Very pleasant water side location with plenty of opportunity to sit outside. Comfortable bed, clean room with the best towels. Atmosphere a little lacking, my fish dish very satisfactory but my husband's steak was tough. However, overall I felt it deserves my four stars!

« Too many things wrong for a 4 star hotel »

This hotel may be a Best Western, but the decor has distinctly eastern flavour. Let's look at the positives first, because there are many. The location of the hotel is absolutely idyllic, and a walk around the area is highly recommended. Take your camera. The layout is of the whole place great - it doesn't have that crowded hotel feel about it, even though - judging by the parking lot - the hotel was pretty full while we were there. The rooms are a nice size and decently laid out. Everything was very clean. The staff are absolutely lovely and very helpful. On the flip side, there were three lightbulbs not working in our room. One was replaced by the manager, the other two (in the bathroom) would require the services of an electrician. The door into the hotel was clearly on a go-slow, taking aaaages to open and close. Apparently this problem had already been repaired once and had recurred. Most crucially, there were simply not enough staff. Several people seemed to be pulling double shifts, and covering more than one base, leaving guests waiting to be served at the bar, for example, which was temporarily unmanned while something else was being attended to. There is absolutely zero phone signal in the area. There is free wifi throughout the hotel, but the signal didn't reach all the way into our room - in order to access it, I had to stand in the corridor. A couple of extra boosters might be a good investment. Also, there was no bin in the bathroom and only a very small one in the bedroom. I recommend moving the little one into the bathroom and getting a decent sized waste paper basket for the bedroom.

    « 'special' Anniversary celebration »

I booked this hotel as my wife & I were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary; we had a suite overlooking the pond and had dinner in the hotel. I was 'warned' upon booking that a school 'prom' was being hosted there that night, but we needn't have worried. The VERY professional and friendly staff ensured that we took the correct route to our room, which was very nice, and during dinner in the 'alternative' dining room we received exemplary service. My wife's dietary requirement were met with a 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude. Thanks to all the staff at the Frensham Pond for making our special day, extra special.

    « Three's a crowd »

The island area is pleasant for a drink but we were periodically joined by a rat looking for food under the tables. The door in the room was a poor fit and rattled all night if the wind blew or someone walked past, we had to wedge it with a folder coaster. The statue of buddha and other people's gods (on the reception desk) are not to my taste - would not have booked had we known.

    « A fabulous place! »

Booked an executive room with Patio for a weekend break with my Partner. Room was comfortable and well equipped, Patio was a lovely addition, able to sit outside with a cuppa when we arrived! Kingsize bed was extremely comfortable, lovely infact! Bedding was fresh and clean, apart from a small stain on one of the pillowcases not really a big issue, just had to turn it over! Few little housekeeping issues that I wouldn't have expected from a 4 star hotel.... only one saucer with two cups! No bin in bedroom to throw used teabags in after making a cuppa, had to throw in bin in Bathroom. Flush on toilet had fingermarks on, and the heated towel rail had watermarks all over it. Evening meal was delightful, I had Lamb, beautifully cooked and presented. My partner had the Pork, and was very impressed. One thing I would say, the Restaurant in my opinion, was very plain and uninspiring, could really do with a facelift, to match the wonderful food! Service in the restaurant was excellent, attentive but unobtrusive. All in all, a very comfortable, restful stay. The staff were professional and very helpful. Would highly recommend and we will be going back!

    « Nice retreat »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night but it was such a nice treat to be away from the city. The view was picturesque and the ambiance was so peaceful. The hotel overall was very nice, rooms were clean. They didn't have any washcloths in the bathrooms which was annoying other than it was fine. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant and offer outside sitting on the pond which was just lovely. They also catered to my gluten free request which is always a plus in my books. I would definitely go there again and would recommend if you are seeking some peace and quiet.

« Visit to go to Goodwood FOS »

« Peaceful surroundings; beautiful view from terrace »

People have worked hard to upgrade this previously rather tired hotel into one which lives up to the standard its surroundings suggest. Comfortable and well equipped room; nice bar and dining area and the creme de la creme - the view of Frensham Pond from the terrace and dining room. A minor niggle: the hospitality tray is very badly situated so you have to bend double to make coffee, and hit your head on a very sharp cupboard when returning to upright!

    « Comfy bed! »

Had to stay for a night for work. I arrived in a rainstorm and struggled to get to reception with a briefcase laptop overnight bag and several folders and the receptionist watched me fight withe door trying to get in! Check in was quick but the number of my room was announced loudly to those checking in behind me which I am not happy about when I'm travelling alone......despite the inauspicious start the room was comfy , there was a place to work and plenty of tea! Dinner was in a small room of the main restaurant as a school prom was taking place. I had been warned about this in advance and it was fine. The dinner and the service was fantastic! The best bit of the stay had to be the really comfy bed and the 8 hours sleep in the middle of a couple of hardworking days away from home!

    « Good stay »

Nice location. Greeted by friendly staff. Rooms are to a good standard with comfortable bed. Bathrooms are also modern but a bit of style over practical. Usual water problems from walk in shower. We had 4 rooms some had mini fridges and some not. The same for alarm clocks. Breakfast had a good choice and quality of food was very good. Please could you provide cereal bowls that are large enough, two weetabix do for fit. Did not try and meals other than breakfast. Overall a very good place to stay.

    « One Night Only »

We stayed at Frensham Pond to celebrate our Wedding Anniversary. We booked a Superior Room with breakfast and 2 course evening meal. My husband sent an email in advance indicating it was our anniversary and asking for a table at 8pm. We arrived around 6pm and settled into the 'Oak' room. The room was very well equipped with the usual tea, coffee, biscuits etc The furnishings were of high quality. In the bathroom there was a large walk in shower with rainfall shower head and separate attachment, the usual complimentary shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and an illuminated magnifying mirror which proved useful. Once changed for dinner we headed for the bar for celebratory drinks, only to find that they had no bitter. The only pump was out and there were no bottled alternatives. My husband only drinks bitter! Needless to say this did not go down well with him, or me, especially when the barmaid seemed uninterested and just shrugged her shoulders.... We then went outside to sit. There were tables, chairs and parasols and a wonderful view overlooking the pond. Unfortunately there were also lots of insects flying around so we didn't stay outside long. Next was dinner. There were some lovely tables situated by the window looking out over the pond. These were full and we were seated more toward the back of the room. Service was good, although there were some communication problems. I chose the chicken terrine which was delicious and my husband had the soup, which he said was average. We both then chose steak at a supplement of £4.95 each plus £2 for a sauce. Both my rib-eye and husband's steak were tough to cut but delicious upon eating. We were too full for desert unfortunately, but the one's that were served to the table nearby looked good! Going back to the bar, it lacked any atmosphere (and bitter) so we retired to our room. Neither of us slept well. Not due to the bed - that was extremely comfortable. There seemed to be some sort of motor going all night and a lot of light near the main door. Breakfast and we were surprised to see how many people were actually staying at the hotel. There was a selection of juices and cereals, some pastries, but theses were not replenished often, Greek yogurt, fruit etc. You could make your own toast as you wanted and the waiter/waitress brought you tea/coffee and cooked breakfast on request. However, based on other hotel stays, I do not believe the breakfast warrants £14.95 per person. On reflection we enjoyed our stay at Frensham Pond Hotel but it did feel as though it lacked something, and not just bitter! .......and it would have been nice, if at some point, someone would have acknowledged our anniversary...

« Best kept little gem »

I booked the hotel room at the last minute and boy am i glad I did. It's more like a boutique hotel than some places I have stayed. The staff are great the surrounding area is stunning and the rooms are really good. I wasn't expecting much but as soon as I was through the door I thought "this can't be right" it looked better than I had ever imagined and had lots to offer. The pond, more like a lake is great for a walk to unwind after a busy day. And the waterside seating area is great to soak up the view over a cold beverage. Overall I rate this place highly and will.definitely be back there soon.

« Private Dinner and Dance »

We are so glad we chose this venue for our Dinner and Dance event! The three-course dinner was delicious, perfectly executed and presented by the chefs, the table settings looked lovely, DJ and music great, and it was an overall success. Thank you to Mala and her staff for serving us so well from start to finish.

    « Perfect Wedding Venue »

Myself and my now husband got married here on the 3rd June. I can't rate this hotel enough. The staff were extremely tentative/professional and made our day perfect. We dealt with Mala mainly and she was amazing. She kept us informed regularly and made our wedding planning effortless. The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings, perfect for your wedding pictures and the refurbishment of the inside of the hotel made it feel very welcoming. The bedrooms are beautiful and beds extremely comfortable. Excellent value for money.

« Beautiful setting. Lovely Food. »

Stayed here for the 2nd year running whilst attending Royal Ascot. The hotel is set opposite a beautiful 'pond', more the size of a lake. The staff are friendly and professional, the rooms are immaculate. The food is of a very high standard. The mobile and wifi signals however are not great, but this is the only negative thing. Beautiful place to stay and looking forward to my return trip.

    « Overnight stay »

No one at reception when we arrived which is not a good start and when the trainee appeared it was to tell us that the hotel had been full the previous night and that our room wasn't ready - I wasn't given a chance to say that I was aware we were 20 minutes early for our pre booked early check in! Asked for directions to the bar which was similarly unmanned.... eventually managed to order coffee! Apart from the elusive staff on arrival the room was good with the usual amenities although only two tea bags on the hospitality tray. Taxi ordered for us by receptionist turned up on schedule; breakfast as expected and no complaints on the location of the hotel which is picturesque. When the staff were in evidence they were polite, friendly and helpful.

    « Fabulous Hotel »

Second visit to Farnham Ponds, stayed two nights for a visit to Royal Ascot and couldn't have asked for a better reception. This is the second year that we have stayed here. The hotel is really lovely and the staff are absolutely fantastic. All in all I would recommend this hotel to all of my friends

    « Wonderful Place »

Stayed for two nights with family and friends to visit Royal Ascot. The hotel is set in a very peaceful part of the world, with scenery that you can get lost in. Rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious. Food was exquisite, with staff that made us feel welcome even before we arrived. The team of staff here go above and beyond to make sure your stay is a good one. I look forward to next years trip, but would definitely like to return before that for a relaxing stay. Thank You all.

    « Loved it here! »

Myself and my partner stayed here this week for just the one night after finding this hidden gem 3wks ago. I booked a double garden room which has its own small terrace with table and chairs on it overlooking the garden area. It had all the amenities you'd expect (hairdryer/safe/tea and coffee making facility/robes and slippers/iron etc....) It was spacious and had a lovely bathroom with a rain shower aswell as a powerful hand held one. My only gripe with the room would be that it's a bit dark even during the day and there was a few 'hairs' in the shower from the previous guest ?? Apart from that I loved it! We sat outside on their terrace overlooking the pond for a few hours before eating at the restaurant and have to say the mains and desserts we had were great...no complaints there either. I'd like to give a special thank you to one of the waiting staff Kristian who graciously went to his room to get his phone charger as my partners phone had gone flat and he charged it up for him...thank you. All the staff were friendly and polite and we can't wait to stay there again very soon!!!

« Fantastic meal at Frensham Pond Hotel »

We would like to thank Kevin and all his staff for a warm welcome and fabulous food when we visited. Set in a stunning location with wonderful views over Frensham Pond. Time to stop is rare so it's important that all the boxes were ticked and they were. I would certainly recommend.

« Good Rooms and good service »

Having stayed here before it was pleasant surprise to find that the rooms and hotel were recently renovated - this has turned a nice hotel in a great location into a great hotel in a great location. The staff across the hotel are very helpful and friendly but reception staff's communication skill's were confused- only something small but spoilt other wise perfect stay.

    « Service improvements needed »

We recently had a one night stay and decided to book for dinner, bed and breakfast and afternoon tea! We stayed in room 53 which was comfortable, but we could not get the air con to work and the sofa in the room was a rather odd colour/shade of orange. The sheets were clean, but the bed spread was heavily stained. All that said, we had an enjoyable stay and found the food to be of a good standard on the whole. We did find that the hotel let itself down with the service standards i.e. afternoon tea - we decide to eat outside by the pond, but were sat at a dirty table. They cleaned away the glasses but never cleaned the table. At dinner we asked questions about the menu, but our server not did know the answers and when I asked her about a dish, she said it is very good, but then proceeded to tell me that she has never actually eaten it! Check in and check out were smooth. The hotel has good free WIFI and car parking.

« Wonderful hotel in quiet location »

We have stayed here multiple times and love it. The rooms are great, clean comfortable, spacious with all you need. Staff are hit and miss friendly wise but location more than makes up for this. When recuperating from a back injury this place was wonderful to relax in. Only downside is when a wedding/function is on there is no private space to go and not enough space/seating and noisy. Otherwise is a fantastic hotel to stay in and highly recommend.

« Overnight break for two »

My partner and I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel last night. Our expectations were exceeded. The steak was cooked to perfection and our executive suite was to an exceptional standard with a lovely outdoor seating area for two. Despite the hotel having a function on, the team of staff coped admirably with the guests. We would welcome the opportunity to stay at the hotel again. Highly recommend to couples looking for a relaxing break with superb food.

« Watch out for hidden costs! »

We've just returned from four days at this hotel. The food was delicious and the room was perfect. The only criticism I have is that there was a coach party there as well, and we did have to wait quite a while to be served. Also, we think it unusual to be charged for tea and coffee at the end of the meal, which was included in our booking!

« Food poisoning symptoms after starter and main course and taken really ill »

Our three night stay was ruined by me being taken ill in the restaurant after two courses. I was the only one in our party to have the goat's cheese starter and pork main so can only assume one of these affected me. I've never felt so ill with severe vomiting, tummy pain, chills, sore joints and muscles and terrible sweats through the night. Diarrhoea started the next day and lasted four days. I'm only just getting back on my feet after two weeks. On the plus side I've lost 8lbs in weight! Though I would not recommend getting food poisoning. Pity really as this was such a lovely hotel, spacious and worthy of a five star rating. We loved the elephant statues outside the entrance and the horse and cart statue and that there was plenty of car parking. The entrance was automatic which helped my disabled wife, but she found the next set of doors, which you had to push, to be heavy and painful to use. Despite adding to our booking form that my wife was disabled and found stairs painful we were given a room on the first floor, sadly with no lift. The receptionist did offer to give us a room in the chalets, but as it was raining my wife chose the painful stairs as she wanted to be in the comfort of a hotel. Unfortunately we then learnt that to get to the bar or restaurant she would have another, though smaller, flight of stairs, again no lift or ramp. Disabled access was in the rain and round the back and involved walking on the road. The room was lovely though, a generous sized bed with lovely soft linen and pillows. It was air conditioned (which proved handy for the night sweats from the apparent food poisoning) and the walk in shower was huge. There was generous supply of items to make hot drinks and some tasty biscuits were also supplied. This huge room had a desk and comfy sofa. Everywhere was spotless and we enjoyed the great smelling toiletries. The owner has thoughtfully paid attention to night noise and the fire doors are soft closed to ensure guests have a good night's sleep. Breakfasts are freshly made with a good choice, and until I took ill with food poisoning symptoms, we enjoyed a full English and we paid the small supplement for eggs benedict. There was also a full range of fruit juices, cereals, cheese and cold meat platter. We particularly enjoyed the fresh fruit salad and yoghurts. All washed down with generous servings of coffee and tea. Special mention goes to the staff who we found most courteous and helpful: a very efficient team. Sadly, when my wife told the manager that I was taken ill through the night, in-case others were similarly inflicted and to alert them that our room would need a deep clean, I was taken to a conference room and quizzed, when all I wanted to do was get to the toilet again to throw up. I was unable to answer his questions well because I had lost my voice from vomiting through the night. I then had to listen to him tell me all about how clean their kitchens were and what tests they had passed. Within minutes I was given a Without Prejudice letter! Despite being unable to talk the manager kept phoning me during the weekend, not appropriate. As the carer for my wife I cannot afford to be ill and unfortunately being over 600 miles away from home my wife had to do the driving for the next few days. She finds such activities painful. Getting food poisoning made our next planned hotel stay awful and I've had to take two weeks off work. Not a pleasant stay due to being ill and sorry to say we won't return, hence the 1 star review. I don't think we will be staying in another Best Western Hotel again.

    « 80th Birthday Lunch »

My mother and I booked a private room at the hotel to host lunch for 19 people to celebrate my father's 80th birthday. Pre-lunch drinks were served in the bar which felt private and very relaxed. We had dropped table decorations the day before and had to leave it to Mala and her team to set the table up as we wanted - they did a great job! We had arranged a set menu which several guests said was well chosen; we were looked after by Antonio and his team on the day and it all ran very smoothly. My father had a wonderful celebration surrounded by family and friends at a venue that not only meant a lot to him but is quite charming in its own right. I am sure we will return for another family celebration in the future.

« Good hotel but would be great if it had a USP »

This hotel is lovely. We had an executive room with a private patio. The room was lavish and had everything just right. The bed was clean and extremely comfortable. Bathroom was shower only but was very stylish and functional. Check in was friendly, a little slow due to everything being printed and folded. However, the way that breakfast was offered to us was quite awful. We were told that if we wanted it we needed to pay now or it would go up by £4 in the morning. We had no idea what the breakfast consisted of and we were not shown a menu. Breakfast was already at £11 per head and for this amount it would have been nice to know that it is delicious and cooked using local produce/freshly baked bread, that's what I wanted to hear. Hotel breakfasts should be good and tasty as one is away from home and it's a good way to start the day in a relaxed manner. As the receptionist only mentioned the cost and I was not going to feel intimidated so we opted out of breakfast and drove to country market just down the road for a good hearty breakfast. Sadly due to the weather not being great and the time of year we were not able to take in long evening walks as planned due to the air being swamped with midges. The hotel seems to struggle when guests ordered meals at the bar and panic sets in but the food served was very good. Apart from the random Buddha statues the hotel is a delight to enter and it has a good quality feel about it. Overall we had a lovely stay and slept very well indeed. The room was utterly delightful. We even found a super curry restaurant in Churt.

    « Afternoon Tea for 3 »

As there was a wedding on they hadn't made provision for us, so put as in a soulless room by the back of the bar. The table wasn't laid and was done in front of us. Cheap nasty coffee , sandwiches made out of thick sliced bread and cakes looked shop bought, although they were nice. The scones were homemade although over cooked! We were then abandoned , no top ups of drinks offered! Had to then find someone to pay, probably could have walked straight out without doing so! Although they are now a 4 star hotel they are still in 3 star mode, so need to up their game! If they had informed us there was a wedding on we would have booked elsewhere or another time.

We had our wedding at the frensham pond hotel, Mala and the rest of the staff were absolutely amazing giving us a wonderful day that we will never forget. The setting is beautiful and the work done on the hotel and the grounds has made this a must visit if you are looking for somewhere to stay in the area.

First class room, very quiet. Excellent food with a wide choice of breakfast. Excellent service from all staff. The location is superb with the opportunity for a evening walk around the lake after your evening meal.

« Lovely peaceful setting - lovely rooms - happy staff (but check for weddings!) »

This is the second time I have stayed at Frensham ponds for a couple of nights over a weekend. The location is idyllic by the large pond (more of a lake really). Rooms are fabulous and comfortable and the restaurant overlooks the lake. This time I stayed on Friday and Saturday nights on both of which there was a very large wedding gathering so the whole place was swamped with wedding guests occupying all the lovely features, so not being one of those throngs, I was kind of "annexed" to the outer lying looms (still very nice) and the back room restaurant (no view or atmosphere) and the staff were so per-occupied I found myself begging for attention at the bar and reception or go and seek someone out to attend to what I was wanting. So very very lovely place and staff, etc but just be warned - if there's a wedding party - be prepared to be in second class.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable with all the amenities we needed. Food in the dining room was delicious. Surroundings were beautiful and service was good. Very happy with our stay.

« Fabulous to say the least »

Arrived last Sunday to a lovely friendly welcome by the receptionist. I can't remember her name ..... The room was just lovely. Very very clean and spacious. Comfort DEFINATELY came into it!!!! Loved everything about the room. A small fridge would have been a bonus but I certainly would use this hotel again. Food second to none. Room service was fast efficient and polite....... Bar area is beautifully decorated and peaceful. Views to die for and the walks just amazing. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay .... I'll definitely be back

« Beautifully designed hotel in a great location with exceptional food and service. »

What a lovely place to celebrate our 30th Anniversary. The hotel has clearly been refurbished to very high and modern standard. We stayed in the Willow honeymoon suite with a beautiful view across the pond and a spacious and private veranda in which to sit and enjoy a very peaceful stay. The room was beautifully done with a very modern bathroom including a jacuzzi bath and double shower...all very well thought out in a very stylish design. All the staff were exceptional, very helpful and friendly and made us feel like very special guests. The food was outstanding not only in presentation but taste, enjoying the pond view added to the occasion. Would highly recommend.

« Who said Friday the 13th was bad luck? »

I had the pleasure of having dinner at the hotel and it was a brilliant night. The food was delicious and served with care as orders were dealt with efficiently and showed great skill. The atmosphere created was relaxed and friendly. As usual there was great care taken to ensure a good service and good food. The hotel has really come into its own with the renovations adding something special to the visit. It truly encompasses the feel of a country hotel but with a modern edge.

« Disappointed in attitude of staff »

Stopped off here to have a coffee and pick up a brochure for a friend. Asked for brochure but was advised by bored receptionist that all bookings were done on line and therefore they did not have a brochure. I asked how older guests without computers should book and receptionist just shrugged her shoulders. Surely it is possible to hand out a card with at least telephone number on it??? Had hoped to have a coffee by lake but no outside service and no one available to take order. We have stayed at this hotel in the past and stopped visiting as service was so awful. Seems nothing has changed. Very disappointing attitude of reception and bar staff.

    « Bridal Suite - Exceptional »

My Director is not on Trip Advisor and wanted to leave a review so I am doing this for him. He stayed at the Frensham Pond in the Bridal Suite. He says its a SUPER room, he had his own private terrace over looking the lake, a Jacuzzi in the bathroom and an English breakfast 2nd to none! The staff were friendly, polite and helpful they couldn't be faulted. Would whole heartedly recommend.

« Great hotel - but watch those extra charges. »

The Frensham Pond Hotel is newly refurbished and the new 'garden rooms' are of a high standard. The beds are super-comfortable. The staff try hard and the service was good, as was the food. That said, some small things are missed. A small pile (literally) of dried coffee, chocolate, sugar etc. in our room did not contain any tea bags, as we discovered in the morning to our dismay. However the biggest issue for me was the service charge applied to my dinner bill on what was supposed to be an inclusive dinner, bed& breakfast rate. This added around £15 over 2 nights. In addition, there is a rash of 'supplements' to the breakfast menu. The cost of the 'full English' breakfast is shown as £14.75, but you have to pay an extra £2.50 for scrambled eggs and salmon on toast or for Eggs Benedict, apparently making the cost of these items £17.20! Most hotels offer them for free. This is all a shame as the hotel is actually very good and our stay was relaxed. So would I recommend this hotel? Yes - but just watch out for those extra charges.....

« One of the Best »

This hotel is an oasis in the Surrey countryside, the standard of accommodation, service and food is excellent!! I've stayed in many hotels and this rates as one of the best. The decor, modern Asian may not please everybody but the rooms are large, very comfortable and have all you would need with quality fixtures and fittings. The service is attentive but without being overpowering. The breakfast is high quality with extensive choice all freshly cooked. The evening meal has an excellent choice, is well presented and prepared, I especially liked the scallop and haggis starter! This place really is a gem.

    « Lovely hotel »

So after a day at a spa I booked for myself and my boyfriend a couple nights at the Frensham Ponds Hotel. Time to get away from the daily grind. On approach to the hotel we were really happy as its in the most beautiful surroundings and it's quiet... Plenty of car parking spaces which is great! It's easy to check in and the entrance to the hotel is stunning, cleaning and inviting.. We had booked a executive double with private patio... Our room looked that new that no one had slept in it yet! It was very clean and bathroom definitely a wow feature... Plenty of tea, coffee etc. Fab touch!! However was slightly disappointed that there was no seats to be able to sit out and enjoy the view (part of the reason why we booked that type of room) also our kettle wasn't working. But must say after a quick trip to reception with our little issues rectified immediately. Very impressed. Chairs delivered straight away and a working kettle and then a follow up call from reception to make sure we were happy. Breakfast the next morning we were slightly late but they still tended to us and gave fab service the full English was beautiful and very tasty. And wasn't rushed. The view whilst eating was across the pond. If your there to chill then I highly recommend just going for a walk and getting lost as the countryside is amazing. We chilled on the terrace and drink prices are reasonable and not rushed to move on after finished. In the evening we decided rather than go out to have a bar meal. I asked if fish was fresh. Was told yes so ordered the fish and chips. Was so excited... My other half ordered the chicken curry. When my fish arrived it was soggy I cut it open it was clearly still raw as it was grey and mushy not white like it should be and was cold to touch. The fish was also clearly out of a box (rectangle factory cut piece!!). I complained to the bar man that my fish wasn't cooked. He took it straight back to the kitchen a few mins passed him and another man in a suit returned to inform me that the chef said it was cooked! I wasn't very happy as the attitude was "this is how the chef is cooking it" so I opted for the curry instead. I am a mum of 4 kids I also have very good knowledge of when fish is cooked and that wasn't!! I was made to wait ages for my curry my other half had finished his dinner and his drink by the time mine had arrived! I wasn't pleased with the whole attitude when something clearly wasn't right... We decided to have pudding and must say they were the best thing ever! The hotel has so much potential and is beautiful they need to actually finish some jobs around the hotel like outside the chalet room wires sticking out! The fake grass around the trees not trimmed... Boulders along the edge still piled up. Myself and my boyfriend had a great stay and would come back but probably wouldn't eat there again which is disappointing.

    « A Happy Return »

After 18 months on, on my return to the Frensham area and the Frensham Ponds Hotel, I was very touched by the lovely welcome I received from restaurant supervisor, Simona, who remembered me. I was able to enjoy morning tea overlooking the ponds and watch the swans in flight and beautiful reflections upon the water, while in the comfort and warmth of the refurbished bar area. I want to thank the staff at Frensham Ponds Hotel for their friendliness and service and for lovely morning teas, which have meant so much to me.

« Slightly off the beaten track but well worth travelling to »

This hotel, which has undergone extensive and complete refurbishment recently, is a little gem in the Best Western brand and easily stands should to shoulder, if not above, many of the larger brand hotels. It is a bit off the beaten track but it is well worth a little bit more of a drive to get to. The setting is tranquil and pleasant; overlooking Frensham Great Pond and the sailing club. The grounds are clean, well ordered and well maintained. Staff were friendly, welcoming and smartly dressed in all the departments I had interaction with. The decor is fresh, bright and modern and they have thought of many of the little details bigger chains often overlook e.g. USB charging points integrated into sockets by the desk and bedside tables in the rooms. The Watermark restaurant and bar are small but welcoming; the former appears to be 'carved out' from of a larger function room used for weddings and the such and some tables take advantage of the full length windows giving a great view of the Pond. It can seems sparse if there are only a couple of diners but when the restaurant is busy the atmosphere is sedate but pleasant. The bar is complemented by an outside seating area. Food is really good value and well executed. It also attracts a number of locals for the 2- or 3-course Table d'Hote menus. Breakfast is a combination of Continental buffet and made to order hot items; choice was good, plentifully stocked and good quality . The woods nearby have some excellent walks if you're inclined to stretch your legs and get some light exercise. Overall, I'm glad I stumbled upon this hotel. It's most definitely one I can happily recommend and one I will use again - despite being a little further than others I could use.

« May meeting at Frensham Pond »

Good quality room, public areas were a little quiet? Excellent breakfast. Didn't eat in as it appeared to be very quiet and we wanted to see a few people around this is not necessarily a bad thing, but it was very quiet with appeared to be only a handful of guests eating in. It is a short drive out of Farnham where we found a good little restaurant.

    « Beautiful hotel »

Myself, my husband and 1 year old son stayed here over the bank weekend as we were attending my husbands great aunts 95th birthday party in a nearby town. This hotel was perfect for us and we could not have been happier with our choice to stay here. Our room was lovely, very clean and well maintained the bed so comfy and the shower amazing. The staff were all very friendly and happy to help nothing was to much trouble I would differently recommend this hotel to friends and family Thank you for a wonderful stay

    « Fantastic »

Newly renovated and set in very pleasant surroundings! The room was comfortable & spacious, the bathroom was clean and tidy also (as you will expect I guess as its brand new) I didn't eat in the hotel though in favour of going to the local Indian which was fairly good by the way.

    « a long stay »

I used a variety of rooms on a long stay. I was impressed with all the rooms and the pleasant and helpful nature of staff. I fully recommend the restuarant that produces good quality food, well presented and hot. The introduction of a second menu Monday to Thursday peovides a welcome change from the same main menu. After one and half years it is about time re-firbishment was completed including snagging. While all the build work has ended other than on the leisure complex finishing touches are still not done. The bar still lacks pictures and other wall decorations. This has been finished refurbishment for over a year but these touches have not been given and makes it a place one does not want to sir in for a drink, coffee or bar meal. The outside lights to the garden roons are still missing. Signage in reception to the fitness room is missing. Lots of little final touches are still not completed. The car park is very off putting, with building materials and rubbish. This spoils the great impression on first gets on arriving at the hotel

    « Full of Potential »

Firstly the good things. Great location next to a stunning boating lake, this complemented an excellent breakfast where I sat overlooking the scenery. The Staff are excellent, well drilled and polite, ever attentive, cheerful and eager to accommodate. The rooms have a retro decor which was nice enough and fitted the hotel although it did tend to lend its self to a Motel feel. There are rooms available as chalets which surround a central green, these would be great in the summer but maybe cold in the winter. Bad things, the wifi was terrible, as a business customer I need a good connection but found I was on the edge of reception (Room 7) and often dropped out. Bizarrely you need a username and password which expires after one day. I thought this would be fine but it seems they are printed early in the morning and so I need to ring reception at 6am for a new code. The hotel is isolated so hardly a issue to be inundated with unauthorised users surely? The evening meal was disappointing. I had a sirloin steak which was tough and thin. I'm sure the meat was probably supermarket bought. The sauce was tasteless but the chips were lovely. They had one real ale on, Traditional English Ale (TEA), which in fairness is a local Farnham brew. I'm not sure if the barrel was off but it was pretty sour for my taste and I had to resort to Boddingtons. The next morning at checkout I was presented with a bill that included someone else's meal! After explaining to the trainee on reception, she went through the receipts and resolved the issue as I had not signed the rouge receipts. The hotel did have some work going on and it would have been nice to have a heads up when I booked. I paid over £100 for the night including breakfast but felt my stay was worth no more than £80. For this reason I have given this 3 stars. Ill be back at some point as Im sure these were one offs.

    « Very comfortable »

A little off the beaten track, this is a lovely hotel with room comfort to rival many of better known chains. The welcome from the staff (including 2 French interns) was charming and warm. Good parking behind the hotel. Breakfast optiins were good, though coffee could be better. Really pleased wit ths find and if the restaurant looks up to its attractive menu, would like to eat in next time. The only downside is the absence of mobile phone signal......you need to go outside to hope of a connection. Firtunately, the wifi seems to work well. We had read that certain reviewers were not pleased with a room having a car park view....a little picky, though I imagine a view over the lake would be very pleasant. Our rooms were perfectly good. Nice touch was the local Farham newspaper.....and a chance to see ge outrageous local house prices!

    « Excellent afternoon tea »

A birthday treat for a friends birthday, afternoon tea at Frensham Pond Hotel did not disappoint. The tea itself was very well presented and the service was first class. The restaurant overlooks Frensham Pond so the view was both relaxing and beautiful. Would certainly return again.

« Quiet country retreat next to a small lake »

This hotel has always been good for eating, and currently is in the throes of finishing off a refurbishment of it's rooms and facilities. On arrival in reception you are met by a clean and grand new reception where the French speaking staff quickly check you in. The hotel has all the usual Best Western amenities as well as an excellent restaurant and for the not so hungry a bar with a wide range of bar food and drinks. The rooms which have been refurbished are tastefully decorated as well as having a comfortable bed and excellent free WiFi. Situated about 5 miles to the south of Farnham, this hotel is the ideal getaway for either a romantic,or a lazy relaxing weekend.

    « 90th birthday lunch! »

Excellent Ju l preordered as party of 25. Chose two wines also very good. Service was very attentive and we had the resturant to ourselves as Saturday lunchtime and no wedding that day. Staff were wonderful and one took our family group photo which turned out to be a great picture. Little area just across the road to accompany children to feed the ducks on the lake. We didn't use hotel accommodation but a friend stayed recently and said his room was eye good having been recently refurbished.

    « Stay there »

An exceptional hotel, with all round superb service. A car park for senior citizen which must be unique in British hotels. A very friendly and helpful staff and management. A request for an extra chair in our room was quickly actioned. The odd bit of building updating did not affect our star and was very discreet. Thanks all round.

    « A pleasant place to stay »

Located on the side of the lake, this hotel is in a very pleasant location. It has been recently refurbished and we stayed in a superior room. It was very well appointed. It is conveniently located in an attractive part of Surrey near Guildford and Farnham

« Comfortable stay in peaceful location »

The recently upgraded room was spotless, although rather chilly on this occasion. Extremely comfortable mattress, roomy bathroom with rain shower and good tea/coffee facilities all combined to make a memorable stay. Breakfast was delicious , with good, prompt service. The fresh fruit juices were imaginative and tasty. However, the evening bar is clearly a work in progress and currently lacks ambience.

    « Grayjen »

We held our Golden Wedding lunch here in 'Drakes', and we were extremely satisfied with the venue, the food, attention from the staff and the service. We could highly recommend Frensham Pond Hotel for a similar function. There was a wedding being held at the same time, but the staff coped admirably, and we did not feel that we were neglected at all. The events manager could not have done more for us.

    « Great find!! »

Booked this hotel for a flying visit whilst in area. Decided to go for a hotel with a good reviews, hoping to get something a little better than a typical franchised operation. This place was a great find! Just about finished a refurb (this did not affect my stay in anyway). It had everything I look for in a hotel, being a frequenter of hotels: Room was lovely, bed extremely comfortable, great shower, good food, excellent service & in a cracking rural location. If I am ever in this area, I would absolutely ensure I stayed here again!

« Delightful Rural Retreat, with all 'Mod.Cons'. »

Well-appointed room, just as quiet as that which one had requested; the warmest of welcomes, with offers of help and discreetly charming greetings from the attentive staff; flexible service, and excellent, reasonably-priced meals teas or snacks available in the comfortably appointed bar. And to top it all, a view to die for !What more could one wish ! The proximity of the Wild-life Sanctuary means that there is constant entertainment from the very tame ducks, geese, swans and other water-fowl. This is somewhere to come back to, especially if you need to Seriously Chill Out !

    « Hidden gem »

Stayed here last night with my mother in law. Was absolutely lovely the room was spotlessly clean, staff were pleasant, comfy bed and a lovely huge shower! The location is absolutely stunning and would be lovely on a sunny day and can imagine it would make a great wedding venue.

« Well worth the money »

A very nice hotel. Well appointed, nice location, friendly and helpful staff, nice breakfast. Taxi from there to anywhere is astronomically expensive, but then I guess this is the cost of staying out in the sticks in Surrey.

« Perfect day when we had our wedding here. »

When we went to look round the hotel they were right in the middle of refurbishments but we trusted Mala when she described the finished place and our trust was definitely well placed. The hotel looks amazing now really high spec, beautiful rooms, none of our family or friends were disappointed. Mala was incredible sorted everything out for us and the staff on the day could not do enough. I can't remember the guys name but he was kind of a master of ceremony after Mala left and he was equally amazing, really felt like everyone wanted out day to be special which it was, can't wait to come back for the anniversary meal. Thanks again guys.

This hotel was my first and only choice for holding a surprise 40th party for my husband as we got married there in 2008 and had a brilliant day It. Was. AWESOME! The room looked fantastic, the food was beautiful and the service was flawless. The DJ was great and very tolerant of our requests (Thriller one minute, the Hokey Cokey the next!).  Mala the events manager was completely brilliant - I've been so impressed with her organisation, creative ideas and dedication (esp. calling in to see us arrive on her day off). She's a total gem.

    « A little disappointing »

The room was lovely, however the view over the car park was less so. We travelled a long way to find this place which looked lovely in the brochures. A long staircase in the main building, with no lift and no help for luggage, and then the room seemed to be the last at the end of a very long corridor, although the hotel seemed to be nearly empty. Reception was warm and friendly, the bar dinner was so so, they did not have the dish I had ordered, but to be fair, storm Katie had wreaked some havoc the night before. Breakfast was excellent, both the buffet and the full English, and the staff were warm and caring. The room was really well equipped, spacious, and the bathroom with a large shower was good. Came away though with a slight 'let down' feeling, mainly I think because of the lack of view in a beautiful setting. Apparently there are now rooms in the new wing, on the ground floor, for those with walking difficulties, but it needs to be mentioned in advance.

    « Excellent quality lunch »

Four of us had a very enjoyable lunch overlooking the beautiful Frensham Pond on a sunny Friday in tranquil surroundings. The service was excellent and good quality food and presentation. The hotel is ideal for special occasions.

    « Lovely setting »

We stayed in a "Superior Suite with Pond View with double occupancy" called "Birch". Well worth it for the view. Nice room, great bathroom and nice sitting room, good flat screens in both rooms. Not cheap (£156 for the night and no breakfast) but we were happy to pay. Staff were great. Bar was so so but the restaurant was nice particularly if you book a window table.

« Friendly, high quality hotel »

I have stayed at Frensham Ponds a lot over the last few years. The thing that really strikes me is how friendly the staff are, and how the hotel is always trying to make improvements so that they provide the best quality service and facilities.

« A most enjoyable lunch at a modest price. »

My wife and I had lunch here today, the set menu was a bit sparse but adequate for our needs. The food was excellent apart from the vegetables which could have been better cooked. The ambiance of the hotel is excellent and the view across the lake from our table was a joy. Nice to have a tablecloth and napkins, makes a pleasant change. Two courses, a glass of wine and a pint of lager plus 10% on the bill for £43.62 was good value in our opinion. recommended.

    5
    « High quality accommodation »

Have stayed many times on business and more recently in the refurbished rooms. Stayed in the garden rooms this time and found outstanding. Rooms are finished to a high standard in contemporary decor. Hotel location is excellent and very friendly staff.

    « Location Location »

This hotel is ideally located in the Surrey Hills and is quiet and picturesque. Just a great location for a quiet day or two with access to beautiful walks and views. The hotel has been recently refurbished and the rooms are modern, clean and contain all the amenities, with one exception being a refrigerator. Beware, the online price when I booked is £40 less than that offered over the phone at their reservation department. The rooms are very quiet and the bed very comfortable. Expect a good nights sleep. Restaurant: The restaurant is on the ground floor, of two levels, with lovely views across the pond. The menu has a small number of selections, however appropriate given its size. We ordered a starter of mushroom and chorizo in a red wine ju. It was very tasteful. However, the main (sirloin steak) was dreadful (leather comes to mind) and I suspect it was the cut, rather than the preparation and cooking. In saying that the restaurant should be responsible all the same. Hotel Staff: Friendly and efficient. Restaurant Staff: Attentive and professional. Thank you.

Stayed here for two nights to attend a wedding and absolutely adored the venue. I stayed in one of the recently refurbished rooms and found it clean, spacious and well-stocked with everything I need. It was incredibly serene and peaceful and the surrounding open area including the lake made for some incredible views.

    « Recently Refurbished Hotel »

Stayed at the Best Western Frensham Pond for one night whilst attending a wedding locally. The Hotel is off the beaten track tucked away next to Frensham Ponds which I'm sure looks lovely when it's not raining! The hotel is spread out over the site with some rooms in different buildings so if the weather isn't terribly great be prepared for a soggy dash to reception/breakfast/your room. The hotel has recently been refurbished and so internally is of a high standard, there is still work being done externally but that didn't affect my stay at all. Despite booking a twin room, confirmed at checkin, when I arrived at the room it had been set up as a double. A quick damp trip back to reception and the helpful staff swiftly remedied their error. The room itself was large, spacious clean and well finished. The ensuite bathroom included a large shower. Free wifi is provided which was most helpful as I had zero mobile phone signal anywhere in Frensham which made liaising with other guest going to the same event a tad tricky. The beds were very comfortable and there appeared to be quite a high tech and efficient air con/heating system in the room. We passed a comfortable night although there was a lot of noise from the room next door. I'm not sure if they were just particularly shouty or if there is a slight issue with sound proofing between rooms, but the blazing row at 2am and again at 6am woke me up. Breakfast the next morning was interesting, I'm not sure if the event they were hosting that day meant staff were focussed elsewhere. It was a public holiday and the room key chitty indicated that breakfast was served until 10 on a public holiday, however reception informed me that it was only served until 9:30. There was a decent selection of continental goods, pastries, muffins, yoghurt, fruit and cereals as well as the cooked breakfast items on hotplates. We did go down to breakfast towards the end of the service but the hot items did appear quite tired, like they'd been out for a while and we had to ask staff for milk and plates as both had run out. It also wasn't clear how to order vegetarian items which were listed on the menu and as there didn't appear to be many staff around we gave up trying and made do with what was left out. The staff did check we'd finished before clearing away the hot food though which was nice. Both check in and check out were speedy and the staff very friendly and helpful. I'd be happy to stay at this hotel again should the need arise

« Peaceful and tranquil setting »

We stayed here whilst attending a wedding at a nearby venue and I have to say we were pleasantly surprised. We had expected the hotel to be slightly dated but this was not the case at all. Our room was spacious and well equipped. The staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful. The setting is lovely, positioned on the side of the lake with lovely views. We only had a bar snack and drinks but this was all very good

« Good value, nice room. Food mixed experience... »

I stayed on a two night business trip with colleagues whilst we interviewed nearby. My room was good - spacious, well equipped and with a large walk in shower in the en-suite bathroom. There was free Wi-Fi in both public areas and in the room. I was in the main building and the room looked like it had been re-done in the not distant past. Only minor point was that there was a bit of wall paper peeling - just needs a bit of glue to put back. Bathrobes and slippers were provided, mineral water and biscuits. Tea and coffee choice was a bit limited - Nescafe or Tetley and there was no minibar or fridge. I ate in the restaurant for both breakfast and dinner - twice each. First night I had a steak which I ordered medium rare and came very well done and slightly tough. Nice flavour but a 5 / 10 steak. Chips with it were lovely though. Breakfast on day one was cooked to order and very good - lots of choice on the cold section and juice bar. Day two I had a fully loaded burger which was nice for dinner. Breakfast though had switched to a buffet arrangement and had gone from 8/10 to 4/10 for the cooked section - undercooked bacon, overcooked fried eggs and generally not appetising choice. We got an all inclusive rate which made the stay good value, but drinks were quite pricey and the range of beers was weak - no proper beers on a handpull (both off) and normal fare of stella vier, john smiths type offer. I would stay again given location and value but overall rating would be improved by a better F&B experience.

    « Peaceful ! »

I spent a wonderful night in this dream location, as a parenthesis of calm and serenity. A special thanks to Benjamin that gave me a warm and personal welcome and made me feel like a VIP. He even brought my suitcase to my room. In the morning again, he had a very kind and smily welcome to me, wishing me a good day and breakfast. I had my breakfast in the veranda, just in front of the lake, watching at the dukes and swans wake up in the early morning lake fog announcing a sunny day... Can you imagine a better day start before a business meeting ?

    « Return visit »

My wife and I like this hotel because of its location and standard of service, and this time was no exception. Kayleigh was very welcoming at reception, and the room was good for us, well stocked with everything. We had a light meal on the bar area, which was well presented. Next morning we arrived for breakfast and a table by the window overlooking the lake was prepared quickly for us. What can surpass having a relaxing meal while watching the water fowl going about their daily activity? Staff were very attentive, although there was one niggle, which when queried with Adriano the operations manager, was rapidly sorted out. Other notable mentions, Dan and Siddiqa. Altogether, a relaxing couple of days.

    « A pleasant surprise »

This hotel was suggested to us as location was near to an organised family event. Wasn't really expecting too much but couldn't have been more wrong. Staff were friendly and helpful, our room was clean and good size, breakfast was also excellent with pleasant views over the pond. Perfect if you need to be in this area, we enjoyed a very pleasant 2 night stay.

    « Disappointed »

The hotel is set within a beautiful setting and the reception staff are extremely friendly and welcoming. However the room itself was not at all what I was expecting. I had booked a suite with pond view . Unfortunately I can only describe the room as a standard bedroom with a very small additional area with a desk and settee, most definitely not worth the extra money. The room was situated at the front of the hotel, which was covered in scaffolding and the pond view was therefore spoilt. The room itself did not have central heating, but two very old heaters were placed in the room . The bathroom had a very strange smell. The carpet was very dirty. The breakfast was good. I would also suggest that you check your bill when you leave as I was charged extra for the breakfasts, despite my booking having been made and confirmed with breakfast included. I queried this with the manager who asked me to provide my booking confirmation. Thankfully I had this with me. All in all a very disappointing stay and one that I most definitely will not repeat.

    « Check your Bill! »

This was an exceptionally good hotel, all the staff were smart and professional, and offered excellent customer care, the food in the bar was very good, and the breakfast could not be faulted, the rooms we had were all very clean and modern and comfortable. So after the first night I was worried I must have made a mistake with the price, and checked my booking details, no the price was what I thought, and was cheaper than the nearest Travelodge, unbelievable!

Mum's favourite place to enjoy a special lunch in a great location looking out over the pond whilst savouring a lovely meal and having great service by warm welcoming attentive staff. Good value and well presented food. Highly recommended.

    « Picturesque setting »

This hotel is in a lovely setting adjacent to a large pond full of ducks and geese - which is the view from the restaurant. The rooms are of good size, very comfortable and the staff are particularly friendly and helpful.

    « Wedding excitement »

So we got married at the beginning of February this year and they could not have been more helpful. From the very beginning they catered to our needs and were more than happy to answer all questions we had. All the staff on the day were amazing, they kept the day lively and were so good with drinks and food. Adriano was our master of ceremonies and he was beyond a life saver, he kept things light and lively in the small moments people were coming down and was very good about keeping things flowing. The food was so good, we couldn't have asked for anything better. Mala was our go to woman and she thought of everything and set us up, even coming in on her day off to see how we were doing, she was so helpful and a total rock in the stressful lead up to our day. The evening was perfectly topped off with the bridal suite (which has an amazing jacuzzi) which was so comfortable and spacious. We want to thank everyone who played a part on the day, it was magical and couldn't have done it without the amazing and wonderful team here.

    « Consistantly good... »

Stayed here a few times now on business. Quick check-in anytime of day or night, rooms clean tidy and fresh, food exceptional so far (4 stays so far!). Overall a great hotel in a great setting, and only 30 mins from either the A3 or M3. Great for me for work as it's not too busy in the area for commuting. I've stayed in both the newer part and the old part of the hotel. I prefer the modern newer part, purely for business use. As other reviewers have stated, no mobile phone signal in the area, but the free WiFi is great.

« Beautiful hotel with very good service »

Stayed at the Frensham Pond Hotel a several years ago and I loved it back then too however the hotel's new design is extremely good. Had been welcomed by the General Manager himself upon our arrival :) was good to see he did not change a bit still as charming as ever :) the food in the restaurant is good and the service is welcoming Would recommend the Frensham Pond Hotel to anyone who wants to have a little break in the countryside

« Sneaky Few Days Away!! »

The location is outstanding, on the edge of Frensham Pond and only a stones throw from Farnham. The hotel is in the middle of refurbishment and it is of a very good standard. The room is large and has a very good bathroom. The shower is very good. Breakfast was quite exceptional, last night we had a bar meal which was also very good.

« Friendly Hotel in a nice location »

Stayed here many times on business. Nice quiet location and hotel rooms refurbished to a high standard. I ate in the bar area and the menu had enough choices and the food was good. The seating in this area is limited though so you may have to wait unless its summer and you can dine outside overlooking the pond. There is still some work going on at the hotel but this wont disturb you and it looks to be finally coming to an end. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Phone signal is pretty poor at the hotel so the free wifi is good to have and worked well for me.

« Nice stay with some issues »

The hotel is located in a beautiful place and is nicely looked after. The deor is nice and the room was cosy. The breakfast was also reasonably good and the staff was friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, we had some issues: the wifi and the TV never worked in the room plus no hot water during the night.

« Jeans and Top 'never found by staff' »

Hello, I stayed here in summer of 2014 towards the end of July. I've been meaning to get around to writing this review (hence it being old - I had to pick 2015 in the drop down menu) and today remembered the beautiful and expensive pair of Paige denim jeans and vintage top that were 'never found by hotel cleaning staff' after I'd checked. I only realised my error a few days later as I had a lot going on - I 100% knew they had been left at the hotel. I called up very distraught and was told by hotel staff very nonchalantly that they had not been found by cleaning staff. I've stayed in hotels all over the world and left items like this and never had an issue with the items being returned. It was upsetting and disappointed to think they have such dishonest staff there. re; the rest of the hotel. I stayed 1 night and like a lot of BW hotels it was very tired looking and quite dirty. Room were old and dark. Don't be fooled by the pretty location there are nicer B&B's in the area.

« Friendliest hotel in the loveliest location »

I regularly go to this hotel on business and I have found that every time the staff are friendly and helpful. The welcome really does make a difference. The rooms are very well appointed and the views are gorgeous.

    « A Valentine to remember »

It has been a while since my last visit and I must say the changes in the hotel are spectacular. Incorporating the old with the new effortlessly. It's a beautiful gem in the middle of the countryside. Dinner was on the mark. The presentation was beautiful and had a polished look and feel of a four star hotel. The service was as excellent, with things arriving and cleared away with immediacy and control. Nothing was too much trouble and everyone was well catered for. Even the music catered for everyone. Well done to the hotel on a fabulous show that made the evening with my loved one, even more special that it was. I look forward to seeing what else you have to offer.

    « Excellent staff »

All in all the staff make the hotel, they're friendly and attentive to the point they can't do enough for you. The recent refurb makes for a bijou feel, the bedrooms spacey and plush. However I did notice a little damp appearing on the bottom of the wall adjoining the bathroom behind the wall paper. Only ate breakfast, which was ok but my preference would be crisped bacon and black pudding, and although not awash with oil, it appeared to have been brushed with it. Fortunately on arrival we were told of a wedding party taking place the next day, so changed our booking to one night only.

    « Disappointed »

The gracious comfortable hotel I remember from childhood visits has vanished, the only remaining front facade gives a glimpse of what it looked like. Good points: lovely quiet location overlooking pond. Very helpful and apologetic staff who tried to rectify problems. Good size room with double shower. Bad points: greeted with garish lme green decor on entering reception.different colour schemes throughout. Rooms in dark colours and typical of any central city hotel. bathroom not heated so always damp towels and steamed up. There was no hairdryet in the first room. Bar area open plan with no carpets or curtains,so felt quite draughty and noisy, with nowhere çosy to sit. Bar meals available but disappointing in quality and quantity. The television in our room did not work but we were not able to move room until following afternoon. Problems with heating setting in new room, and quite a noise of running water intermittently from nearby (wr were in room 38.) All in all a great disappointment.

    « Room for improvement »

Stayed at this Hotel for a wedding along with many other wedding guests. We had booked and paid for the rooms way in advance and yet reception on booking in had no record and they insisted on payment before handing over keys. The whole issue was embarrassing in front of other guests waiting to check in. It was not until I retrieved the paperwork from the car and showed the receptionist that the keys were reluctantly handed to us. My sister also had her reservation completely wrong. One room was not booked at all and the specific rooms booked were not available due to building works despite assertions only days before that they were available. We were not told that we had to book a table for the evening meal in the restaurant and had to make do with tables pushed together in the bar. Other guest had to do the same despite numerous empty tables in the restaurant. Building works were intrusive and cars in the carpark were covered in ash from the builders fire. On the positive side the wedding arrangements were excellent as was the catering and the refurbished rooms were of a good standard. The Bar area however lacks and style or character. Detailed feedback given to the management but not replied too until a reminder was sent. Overall disappointing.

I have stayed here many times, but now the refit is virtually complete it has gone from strength to strength. The surroundings are as wonderful as ever but the rooms have been refurbished to a very high standard. The major improvement was the staff. It has always been a friendly place but has gone to a new level. So thanks Kaylee, Ben, Simona and everyone else

    « Overnight stay »

Stayed for 1 night as we visited the Farnham area. Newly renovated with work still underway. Comfortable and very well equipped room. Took us a while to get the temperature right in the room, and there is no hearing in the bathroom which Is a bit of a design flaw. Eventually the hearing from the room, after leaving the bathroom door open, managed to heat up the bathroom for a morning shower. Although the shower did go through a few phases of very cold then very hot water. Free wifi which worked for all devices without a problem. Good value for an overnight stay Good food at the bar and excellent breakfast although both are a bit in the expensive side. Staff were friendly and very helpful. A real plus for the hotel.

« A Friday night at the Frensham pond hotel »

Upon arrival I could see from the outset this hotel has just had a refurbishment, the fresh paint smell and bright interior. There was a lot of building work going on but as it was a Friday afternoon so tools were put down. I walked into the hotel lobby which was very modern, clean and well presented as I approached the main reception desk I was met with a very smart and friendly face with a massive smile and great greeting, I already felt special and this continued through my stay. The gentleman's name was Dan Prochazka the front of house manager, so helpful very professional and offered me world class customer service. I had arrived at the hotel by myself as I wanted to put some gifts into the room for the arrival of my girlfriend later that day, Dan booked me in also placing an order for an evening meal for two at eight, I couldn't decide whether to seat at seven or eight so Dan booked me for both and said just cancel one once you've decided, going that extra mile made all the difference. I was shown to my room which was really lovely, fresh, clean with a huge bed and TV. I returned later that afternoon with my girlfriend and her surprise look was priceless, perfect location by the pond for a romantic break. The evening meal was fantastic, food was second to none the service world class again.. The breakfast the following morning was perfect, offering lots of various options, coffee was great. I can't recommend this hotel enough, I would definitely go back and I'm already planning our next stay

I stayed here in a standard double room the night before my wedding. The staff were so attentive and met and exceeded every expectation I had. « Newly refurbished - elephants everywhere »

We stayed here last week - is still in the process of refurbishment. Our room was superb - I think we may have been the first ones in there. We were seeing friends so didn't eat there in the evening , but the breakfast was great in the morning. The elephants are the trade mark of the owners - I just found it a little off putting to find them everywhere.

« Ok could be great »

Stayed in an executive twin might as well been a double they were that close maybe a 2 inch gap, not heat source in bathrooms so they are all ways cold and you need new towels every day. Got charged for breakfast that we never went for which they did refund.food was really quite good, staff very polite and friendly.

« What's become a regular place to stay when I'm working in the south of England »

I have been staying quite regularly over the last few months, I did stay here before it was modernised and it was good then. I stay in at least 3 hotels a week and this is in my opinion now it's been modernised its one of the best hotels in the UK. From a friendly greeting by the reception staff, lovely rooms with bed linen of the utmost quality to the restaurant which serves 5* food at reasonable prices.

« Very pretty setting and lovely hotel »

We stayed here overnight with a Groupon voucher. The superior room was brilliant-spacious and newly refurbished. The hotel is still undergoing some refurb but this didn't spoil our stay in any way. The staff were extremely attentive and polite and couldn't do enough for us - ensuring we were happy with our room by calling us once we had settled in and checking our food was ok during every course. We thoroughly recommend this hotel.

« Beautiful setting, lovely hotel »

The setting was beautiful, despite the poor weather. The staff were so pleasant and helpful. We had a really good night's sleep in a comfortable, classy room. The location was quiet and peaceful, but easy access to M3 and thus M25. Very reasonable rates for high class establishment.

I visited on business and was extremely impressed with the service I received, from the moment you walk through the door, the staff are so helpful and friendly. I also had dinner and breakfast in the Hotel - only downside was the hollandaise on the eggs Benedict had split but everything else was wonderful'

    « Beautifully Refurbished Venue »

We held our wedding and reception here in June 2015, the staff were attentive and looked after all our guests. Every little detail was looked after, the staff decorated the venue just how we wanted it with little direction from ourselves. The food was incredible for 65 guests! All our guests that stayed over enjoyed the newly refurbished rooms and gardens. The chef even made a starter up for one of our guests who didn't want the one we had picked. We have even booked in for our 1 year anniversary this year and we are really looking forward to seeing the staff and venue again. Thank you Mala and Team!!

« New look... New Menu »

Having recently visited for an excellent afternoon tea decided to go and try out the new evening meal menu with some friends. We were not disappointed! The new menu offers a choice of tempting and innovative dishes. Goats cheese panna cotta, chorizo and mushrooms in a red wine sauce or scallops with Haggis, neeps and tatties to start were all delicious. Corn fed chicken with truffle mash and the trio of lamb - cutlet, slow cooked rump and a mini shepards pie were beautifully served. Wanted to try all the desserts but settled for a white chocolate torte with a champagne jelly served with raspberry sorbet! The whole experience was in keeping with the great new contemporary style throughout the hotel but pleased to say that it has not lost the friendly attentive service provided by all the staff. Looking for an excuse to visit again soon!

    « Fantastic hotel! »

I have stayed in the Best Western Frensham Pond for 3 consecutive weekends with my partner whilst he has been on a course. The first weekend I visited I arrived in the dark but it made an impression immediately. Beautiful location alongside the pond and the rooms are gorgeous. Modern rooms, comfy beds (great nights sleep everytime), nice flat screen tv on the wall and the shower was to die for! I was seriously impressed. I was then even more impressed having breakfast the following day sat in the window whilst overlooking the ponds and watching the wildlife. Breakfast is gorgeous - could not fault it. Lots of choice for both continental and cooked. The staff are friendly and accommodating and provide top notch service. I was expecting to find some faults after staying in the hotel for 6 nights altogether but I really cannot think of one. It is gorgeous. We loved walking around the ponds on a Sunday and loved strolling around Farnham itself which is a lovely little town with lots of nice restaurants and a few bars and pubs. We will definitely return one day in the future and I would recommend this hotel to anybody.

« The wedding weekend we wanted and more! »

29th November 2015 Finding our wedding venue was meant to be a tricky affair right - wrong...Frensham ponds hotel was everything that we wanted and more. With complete faith in Mala, our expectations were not only met but exceeded! Was a truly amazing day (well technically weekend as we were booked in for the weekend!) and can't thank Mala and all the staff enough for making it all so special. Nothing was to much trouble, both the food & drink brilliant and the refurb immense: - I just wish the time didn't go so quick!! Still we are lucky to be local to this fantastic location that we can - well have - been back to since! There is nothing from our day we would change so any brides2b out there, get yourself down to Frensham Ponds Hotel, it was the perfect choice for the start of our first chapter as Mr & Mrs!! x

    « Overnight stay »

A beautifully sited, traditionally built hotel which has been very disappointingly developed. Very helpful staff, excellent breakfast. Problems with heating - the room was very cold & we had to get help to turn it on - apparently cleaners turn it off when they finish - we would have liked the room to be at least luke warm on arrival, not freezing cold! No spare bedding in cupboard where there should have been. Someone needs to be checking rooms. Nowhere to hang towels up. Bed was clearly newish but too soft for our likeing (I now have a bad back). We will not return.

    « Christmas 2015 »

We spent a thoroughly enjoyable 2 night break at this hotel. Excellent professional service. Good food with everything we could want. The restaurant has views over Frensham Pond so must try and get there in summer! The whole Christmas period was well organised with friendly staff who were most helpful. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel is situated on quiet roads with walks all around.

« For us, just not as good as it could/should be »

Superb spot, within an hour of ferries and cruises. Overall well worth the cost and you should not feel you have had less than good value for money. But whilst the conversion and expansion to a modern interior is to be applauded, as a significant attempt to provide guests with a good experience, we really do feel the owners and management have and continue to miss the point! Most of what is on offer is excellent and in our opinion the style and taste of decoration should not significantly detract from the quality of a hotel stay providing all other needs are met. Unfortunately in this case there are, at this time, significant shortcomings that could and should be dealt with but which I feel will not be because of complacency on behalf of those in control! These shortcomings include, direction signage that is difficult to read because of colour matches, total lack of suitable furnishings in the bar area, some restaurant tables too small, small plates too small when trying to butter a slice of toast and probably the most glaring omission, no heating provided in the en-suite bathrooms! This last point seems incredible, when you consider we are discussing a UK hotel with tiled bathroom floors and forced air heating in their bedrooms. Forced air provides a fast warm-up for a visitor but does not provide continuous background heat which might, just might, have made the no-heat bathrooms tolerable! In summary, we will visit again, as the positives do outweigh the negatives by some margin, and we will continue to provide constructive criticism which hopefully will benefit all in the longer term!

« Let down by the restaurant! »

Stayed here for one night on business. The location is in a lovely spot next to a lake but in the height of winter I did not have time to enjoy. The rooms and shared spaces have been revamped and I enjoyed a very spacious and comfortable room which contained a king size bed and large shower. The staff were very attentive and polite, however for me the hotel was let down by the quality of my evening meal, which given I was the only one eating when I sat down was very poor. An overlooked piece of fish with microwaved heated vegetables. I was not aware of an alternative within walking distance.

« Afternoon Tea in Style »

Fed up with this endless wet and windy weather we took ourselves for a delicious afternoon tea at the newly refurbished hotel. Despite the rain we enjoyed our view of the Pond from our window seat in the restaurant. Delicious choice of sandwiches in fresh locally baked bread followed by warm scones with cream and jam and pieces of fruit and carrot cake and mouthwatering chocolate eclairs oozing with cream. Good choice of teas as well as coffee. Even the biggest of appetites was defeated. Great way to treat your Mum or to finish a family walk around the Pond.

    « awful refurbishment »

This hotel is in one of the most idyllic country locations in the English countryside. A recent refurbishment has totally missed the mark however and left me hugely disappointed when I walked in after the promise offered on the approach to the hotel. The website says; ?Built as a private residence in the 15th century and a source of hospitality since the 1700's, the Hotel combines a unique blend of English country house charm coupled with all the advantages of modern convenience.? If that evokes the idea of a warm and comfortable place with roaring fire to envelop you after a freezing winter's country walk, forget it, the reality totally jars with that description. There is zero ?English country house charm? as the style is entirely modern in the public areas with a cold green colour scheme, characterless art on the walls, uncomfortable minimalist furniture with hints of Asia rather than English country side. I imagine the refurbishment was expensive but the effect is cheap and it's not clear who their target market is. I was there for business and even in an area inviting business there are only two plugs for laptops and the, albeit reasonable, coffee was served in a tiny cup reinforcing a depressing cold feeling rather than the warm welcome promised from outside. Instead of staying for the planned day and having lunch my colleague and I escaped after our single serving coffee and found a wonderful pub nearby voted the best in the country for the good reason that it was a warm and charming with the modern convenience of wifi. As we didn't eat I can't comment on the food. The redeeming feature, after picturesque setting - the staff who were themselves very warm and helpful.

« GREAT NEW YEARS EVE »

Stayed for New Years Eve. The hotel has been refurbished since our last stay and our room "Rowan" was lovely with a pond view. All the staff were welcoming and they had worked so hard to make the evening enjoyable. Afternoon tea, dinner and breakfast were all good with plenty of choice. Looking forward to going back for the Valentines evening.

« Great choice, good value »

Stayed here a couple of nights while visiting family in the area. Loved the quiet location and the beautiful views of the pond and wildlife. Very comfortable, clean room; no bath but for those who enjoy them, a superb walk-in shower. Breakfast was more than ample and a good choice available. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We only ate breakfast here but looked at the menu for afternoon tea - at £17.95, we thought it was expensive. Drinks at the bar were reasonable though and we will be back next time we're visiting.

« Christmas at Frensham Pond Hotel »

My husband and I have just spent a delightful Christmas Holiday at the Frensham Pond Hotel. We have visited the Hotel on many occasions over many years but this is the first time we have spent the Christmas Holiday there. I can only say that nothing was too much trouble for the friendly staff who really put great efforts into making the break a Christmas celebration. The Manager, Kevin Halsted, has obviously put great effort into choosing his hotel and restaurant staff, and was on hand to ensure everything ran smoothly along with Events Organiser, Mala. We stayed for 3 days and every breakfast, lunch and dinner was superb - a great variety and choice at each meal - the diet now begins! And the little touches - Christmas Card, Gift of Chocolates and special Crackers and the Christmas Menu tied as a scroll. All these things make such a difference. Choice of wine was good - even the lovely Muscat desert wine Beaumes de Venise was available, which was enjoyed with Christmas Pudding. The bedrooms have been beautifully updated and designed with comfortable bed and lovely decor and feel very spacious. And the remainder of the hotel which has also been refurbished is light and modern but combines well with some of the elements of the original old building. And the lovely walks surrounding the lake and countryside make it even more of a special break. Frensham Pond is a delight. Highly recommended. Jill Starnes

    « Christmas package »

My friend and I stayed at Frensham pond hotel for the three days over Christmas, the hotel has just been refurbished so everything was new and stylish, our room was lovely with a large flat screen to and lovely products which were replenished daily. The staff were really exceptional nothing was too much trouble for them. The food was outstanding far better than we have had at other hotels at Christmas. There was different entertainment on all three evenings and each night was lovely we really enjoyed ourselves. Kevin, the manager, was visible all the time and asking us if we're enjoying ourselves, he really cared. Mala who oversaw the entertainment and everything else was really lovely from the time I spoke with her to enquire about the package and was there throughout our stay too, would really recommend this hotel. We will be returning.

« Great hotel and wedding venue »

Stayed here earlier this year for my cousins wedding. We also booked a room to stay the night. The rooms had just been refurbished so were beautiful. The shower was AMAZING and the beds really comfy. Rooms were very clean and staff very helpful. Really lovely venue for a wedding. My cousin had the perfect day :)

    « Customer service wonderful »

Came down to Surrey to visit family, and what a great idea it was to stay at the frensham pond best western. The staff were very friendly and gave us a complementary upgrade! Very nice rooms of a surprising standard. Breakfast was excellent also. Well worth it!

    « Great hotel »

We arrived at this beautiful hotel and on arrival we were informed of our upgrade! The setting is lovely, right next to the pond/lake. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay, and the woods around the area provide a great area to walk. Nice, friendly staff and a good hearty breakfast to boot. All in all, a great visit.

    « Return after modernisation »

Having stayed in the hotel last year, while all the refurbisnment was going on, it was a very nice surprise to return to the hotel and find it completed, except for the garden rooms. It now has a clean and modern interior where great thought has been paid to comfort and design in the bedroom. I had a Festive Dinner and was one of the best i have tasted this year with both the table and meal very well presents and top service. In my view all the negitive feed back in Trip Advisor is now out of date and the hotel is really moving forward. I really enjoyed my stay and will be returning for longer in January. A lot of the old staff have gone but the new staff are polite, friendly and helpful. For those that stayed during the building work, a return visit would show that in spite of the disruption at the time, it was worth it to get the hotel up to such a good standard Graham Alexander

« Chamber of Commerce Christmas Party, 17 December 2015 »

Once again, Kevin and his team provided the ideal party atmosphere, with excellent food, understated but attentive service and good music. The refurbishment is a definite improvement too, providing a classier backdrop for the party. A good night - and definitely recommended!

« Christmas Dinner and Dance »

I attended a works dinner and dance on 11th December and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. The food was tasty and satisfying, the service was spot on and the disco was great fun. The hotel looks stunning after its recent refurbishment and I cant wait to return for another fabulous event in the future.

« Fabulous Dinner and atmosphere »

Last night my wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal, both in terms of quality and value, with a large group of friends. Its the little things you notice, the vegetables cooked really well, hot but not over cooked accompanying a lovely main course. Superb local cheeseboard, and overall just a really pleasant evening with friends.

« Golden Wedding Anniversary Luncheon »

Mala, the Events Manager, organised a first class luncheon party for 50 people for our Golden Wedding Anniversary. It was a huge success and we have had a big response from our guests saying how much they enjoyed it. We were very impressed with the professionalism of the staff, who were all very helpful and polite. The meal was delicious, piping hot food and so well presented. We stayed in the hotel for 2 days and some of our guests stayed for 1 night, but we all agreed it was first class accommodation.

    « Office Christmas Party »

We booked our christmas party at Frensham Pond Hotel several months ago. Every thing went very well. We were given a very nice room for welcome drinks where staff served us prosecco and soft drinks. We sat down to eat at 8pm. Every one enjoyed their meal and if needed anything else the waiting staff and managers were very helfpul to organise this. The disco was good fun, so plenty of dancing. Some members of staff stayed at the hotel. They told me that the rooms were lovely escpecially the bath room with an amazing shower. I have had really good feed back form our staff who have said that they would like to go back next year. Thank you for an excellent Christmas party.

    « Christmas lunch »

From initial enquiry to enjoying the last bit of the Christmas pudding , the hotel and the staff always went that extra little bit to make the experience a pleasure. The hotel had been refurbished after our last lunch and is now very impressive. I have to say in all honesty that having had many Christmas lunches at a wide variety of restauraunts and hotels that this has to be up there with the best. Thanks Mala and all the staff

« Christmas Lunch for Our U3A Rambling Group »

We arranged to have Christmas lunch for 45 members of our U3A rambling group at this hotel. The pre-event process was very smooth and efficient, thanks to event organiser Mala On the day the food was excellent and the service very good. The function room and public areas were very nicely appointed and festively decorated. The hotel has just undergone extensive refurbishment. Finally, but not least, it was extremely good value for money.

« Our wedding at Frensham »

Would like to thank the staff at Frensham Pond Hotel especially Mala for all their hard work in making our wedding such a special day! We arrived the night before the wedding to find there had been a leak in the roof which had ruined the bar area, but the next day a lot of people didn't notice so that was good!! The food was exceptional with a lot of great comments and the room was done up brilliantly. Thank you for such a great day!

    « Great location »

Lovely hotel set out in the country, i would imagine it is stunning in the summer. The hotel itself is very modern with good size rooms and good internet access. The food was ok but i admit i wasn't looking to be adventurous an stuck to the bar menu. The drinks available at the bar were limited with no real ale available but it was mid week and a quite time of year a bottle alternative would've been nice. The staff were friendly and the service good, i would use this hotel again no problem.

    « U3A Christmas Lunch event »

Extremely pleased with all aspects of our visit . We had 45 sit down to Christmas lunch. The food was very good, served well, and promptly. Staff most helpful and all for a very reasonable price per head. Would recommend this venue for a meal for large numbers. This was my second visit for a meal with numbers of 35-45 and I was not disappointed.

« Our Golden Wedding Lunch. »

We had our Golden Wedding Lunch at the Frensham Pond Hotel on the 15th of November. We were exceptionally pleased with every aspect of the occasion. The pre- lunch drinks, the room, the table settings, the service, the quality of the meal, all delivered to a superb standard. Also, the attention to detail was meticulous. All our guests were very impressed by the whole experience. Our thanks to Mala, and all the team at the Hotel.

The bathroom is ultra modern with state of the art shower and hot tub.The suite also has a breathtaking view of the pond. We were made to feel especially welcome by the receptionist katele along with prenessa who waited on us in the restaurant. The food was well presented and delectable with breakfast offering a wide and varied options. The staff in General was very attentive and did help to make our weekend very special. Thanking you all. « A Delightful Return Visit »

It has been some time since I have been at this hotel, if in the area no other will do. Created by name at the reception and booking in was quick and efficient. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment but that did not cause any issues. The rooms are excellent with very good wifi and room to work or relax. Ate in the bar but it was in no-way a lesser service than the restaurant and the beer on offer was perfect. Good wifi in the bar as well. Breakfast was a mix of self service and waitress service - good menu and no waiting. The area is quiet, scenic and comfortable even in the rain. The refurbishment is of a very high standard across the site, the Garden Rooms are currently being fully refurbish as I write.

    « Wedding Venue »

We held our daughters wedding reception here. it is the most beautiful setting for a wedding reception, held on the 31st October. The weather was warm and sunny and with the backdrop of the trees and the changing colours of the leaves it was quite magical. Mala and her team did an exceptional job, everything ran smoothly and efficiently - all the staff were first class. i can thoroughly recommend this venue especially as it has just recently had a major refurbishment which makes it even more attractive.

« Ongoing refurbishment lacks personality »

In a quiet location adjacent to lovely lake this hotel is currently undergoing refurbishment which has been done does so far not give the hotel any personality and with a strange choice of lime green as a main part of the colour scheme. The bar area does not give any warmth although the restaurant is better with views our over the lake. We booked one of the top rooms and this was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was generally well appointed except there was no towel rail. When we returned to our room in the evening the wet towels were still damp as they had been neatly stacked. There was a persistent hum from the air conditioning system that was particular problem when trying to sleep and the disco in the restaurant was also audible. Staff however were attentive and food was good.

« Beautiful setting, pleasantly surprised with our room »

Stayed here for one night as attending a wedding reception and we weren't really expecting much, but it was lovely. It looks like the reception area has been refurbed fairly recently and also our room was in a new block and had a lovely fresh smell of wood. The room was lovely and the bathroom had the best shower ever - a massive shower head above you as well as a very powerful hand held shower head and a non-steaming mirror. Would definitely recommend.

    « Hidden Gem »

Needed a hotel for a business trip and came across this one. The hotel is undergoing some renovation but from what I saw almost complete The experience was flawless, check in was polite, welcoming and quick. The room was very well appointed. One of the best beds I have slept in for a long while and excellent shower Food in the resturant was good and the sticky toffee pudding divine I didn't get the chance to explore very much but the setting on the pond is lovely and I am sure more is available should you wish to get out and about This is one to be filed in the " to be used again" category

    « Good Overnight Stay »

Overnight Stay at the Frensham Pond for one evening, location very good, hotel is clean and comfortable, food in Bar / restaurant excellent, good nights stay, could not fault anything, would definitely stay again if in the area

    4
    « Informal lunch »

The hotel is in the midst of renovation, we sat in an informal dining area overlooking the pond (which is very tranquil). My companion and I had food from the bar menu, both the cheese burger and fish and chips were well presented and well cooked. Above all the service was excellent. We had a desert from the a la carte menu which was also very nice and reasonably priced. All in all a very good find!

    2
    « Frensham Pond Hotel »

Lovely location however the decor inside is dated and off-putting. The friendliness of the staff especially on reception is also very poor. I wouldn't stay here again as i felt it was a cold and unfriendly environment. The room had the most awful browny yellow leather sofa with orange scatter cushions that were stained. There was no hair drier. The information stated if you need an extra pillow or blanket then please phone reception. I did this in order to get an extra blanket and the man on the phone did not understand what i meant. He then delivered a sheet. When I said it was not a blanket he came back with a duvet. I rang for room service and no one answered. I then rang reception and they tried to get me to phone another number. When I eventually got through to someone they reluctantly took my order and I got charged £4.50 on top of the order just for ordering room service. I did not want to order anything else as I did not want to pay another £4.50 for the privilege. On the plus side the bed was comfortable and the food was good. I would not stay there again however as the staff were so unfriendly?overall.

    « 65th Wedding Anniversary Lunch »

What a brilliant location. Set right on the lake with stunning views. Shame it wasn't warmer weather, it must be very nice to sit outside right on the lakeside. We pre-ordered our meal from a good varied choice of dishes. The restaurant manager and staff were very attentive. Nothing was too much trouble to ensure the party had a good time. Would certainly recommend this hotel for any occasion.

« Exceptional Sunday lunch in the wonderful Surrey countryside »

This is an excellent hotel, set in the country garden of Surrey, with a spacious restaurant serving delicious food with quality customer service. Sunday lunch for under £20 on the shore of the National Trust Frensham Ponds is an experience not to be missed. The staff are polite and the English faire served as Sunday lunch will never disappoint. The dishes are beautifully presented, delicious and hot. If you want quality at a reasonable place, look no further. After coffee, walk around Frencham Ponds (35 mins. at a slow pace) and enjoy the splendour of the evergreen English countryside. If you wish to walk more, Not far away is the National Trust gardens of Winkworth Arboretum in Godolming. I will be back and hope others enjoy a day at Frensham Ponds as much as I did. I hope the photos give you a glimpse of what you will enjoy.

« A very pleasant stay in a very pleasant location »

My wife and I really enjoyed the location of this hotel set in a beautifully treed area overlooking a magnificent lake. It was so serene and beautiful with all of the Autumn leaves and fresh air. It really was a relaxing location. I wish we could have spent longer here. The room was reasonably spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable as well. There was no lift to get bags up to the upper floor and the wifi took A LOT of fooling around to get it working with a number of visits to reception, finally got it going...this needs to be sorted. When you are travelling for twelve weeks and have stayed in 37 hotels with no wifi trouble this could have been better here. I do recommend this hotel, the staff are very obliging, a lovely hotel indeed.

    « Great location - newly updated »

An ideal place for a weekend away or in the area generally. Lots of parking, the ponds are pretty and provide good walking opportunities. There was some upgrading going on with the kitchens in September so the food service was a little compromised. Great friendly staff and very nice rooms with a sofa, comfy beds and a general feeling of luxury.

« Perfect wedding, thank you! »

We have just had the most perfect wedding reception at this hotel. It was above and beyond what we had imagined it to be. From the start and throughout mala has been extremely helpful and on the ball to help make our day perfect, she is a lovely lovely lady, and after seeing the room set out for our reception, a perfectionist too, it was beautiful. Thank you. The staff throughout the hotel were lovely, friendly, polite and so attentive throughout the wedding breakfast. Adriano was in charge for the reception, he is a lovely guy, and excellent toastmaster, he ensured everything ran to time and was very organised, thank you to! The food was AMAZING, defiantly 5star, everyone commented on this, all 3 courses were delicious with generous portions as was the evening buffet, so many thanks to the chef and all the kitchen staff. Breakfast the next day was great, it was so lovely to have all our family seated together , they even played our first dance song when we came in which was a really nice thought. This place has the beautiful setting for a wedding and the refurbishment is very tasteful and to a high standard, the hotel has a lovely warm and cosy atmosphere, and the rooms are gorgeous, the beds are really comfy! This a very well organised and managed hotel, we would like to thank all the staff for making our day PERFECT!

This is a stunning location with great atmosphere. I couldn't have wished for a better place or service for my wedding. Very efficiently organised, food and staff excellent. « Really impressed for the price »

We stayed here for one night as we attended a wedding nearby. Although we didn't stay long (arrived midnight after wedding and checked out 10am) we were very impressed with the service, facilities, decor and room which was very well decorated. The staff were very friendly. Breakfast was very nice. Only comment I would make is that I thought breakfast finished quite early at 9.30am. Maybe it is later at the weekend for non-business trade? The breakfast selection was a good hotel standard. Usual hot buffet selection for cooked breakfast, fruit, pastries, cereals, juice bar (this included a vegetable juice option which I thought was unusual and very welcome). The room was very nice, bathroom was excellant. Looked recently refurbished/new. Nice shower, contemporary decor. Bed was comfy, tea/coffee etc and good sound insulation. Very quiet but we overlooked the road (admitedly it is a quiet country road). The hotel is set in very nice surroundings. Restaurant has views over the Frensham ponds. Weather was awful on days we visited the area, but you could see that the setting was beautiful. Wifi was available and worked well which is important as mobile phone signal was non-existent for me (EE). Overall a very good hotel for the price we paid. We will definitely return again and recommend to others.

« Needed to have finished the refurb »

Stayed as part of a wedding celebration. Location is lovely, overlooking Frensham Pond. Ideal spot for ceremony. In fact whole days arrangements were well coordinated. However, public rooms were unfinished, at last stage of refurbishment. No pictures on walls still needed to be painted! Felt like they had rushed the event through before they were ready. Staff seemed untrained, unaware of roles. Just took the edge off a pleasant day.

    4
    « Wonderful location »

Wonderful location, down wooded country lanes and next to large pond. On the first evening a wedding party rather took over restaurant and bar, but the next day I had the restaurant to myself. Room was large and very quiet, not in main building.

    « Perfect Wedding Venue »

We had our wedding at this venue (ceremony and reception). We thoroughly recommend this venue! The day went perfectly with no issues. All the staff were professional and friendly. The food was presented beautifully, perfectly cooked and tasted amazing! Our guests commented all day on how beautiful the venue and setting was, and also how much they loved the food! A lot of our guests stayed at the hotel the night of the wedding and they all mentioned how lovely the rooms are. Mala was fantastic with the planning and answering my many (MANY) questions before the day! Thank you Frensham Pond Hotel for making our Wedding Day perfect and unforgettable :)

    « Good in parts »

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment to its public areas. I arrived late and the room (Room 37) cannot be faulted. Despite having been advised that there would be a room menu, if I was arriving after the kitchen's closed at 2130 hrs, the majority of items listed on the room menu were not available. My beef sandwich was not to be, and I was offered egg, cheese or tuna sandwiches which I did not want. After several more minutes, some packet ham was found and a little later a ham sandwich was gratefully accepted. Breakfast was disappointing, an undercooked poached egg with liquid albumen beneath its white exterior was unacceptable (perhaps something of a curate's egg?) as was the black pudding which appeared cooked to one side only. Staff were extremely helpful (and apologetic). Probably would go back, but from my experience, the kitchen requires some attention. Management should take note.

    « Afternoon tea »

Went today to celebrate mums 70th birthday. Just a small party 7 for afternoon tea. Food was lovely and bought out just at the right time. If we wanted for anything, which we didn't, we only had to ask. Staff were on hand and retained distance to give us privacy. All staff were extremely polite and couldn't help enough. The setting in the restaurant is lovely with beautiful views over frensham pond. Great venue great food great staff. Thanks for making mums day special!

« Difficult to rate whilst under refurbishment »

The hotel is obviously undergoing a major refurbishment and therefore is a little bare in places. However, it offers value for money, is set in a wonderful location and the staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast was freshly prepared and served in a room overlooking one of the ponds. My bedroom was a good size with a huge, comfortable bed and a nice bathroom with two-head walk-in shower. Overall the room seemed very clean. The only criticism I can raise on what I saw is that the vacuum cleaners used for the stairs and corridor could be a bit more powerful as the carpets always looked liked they could do with a decent hoover. No doubt having the builders in did not help. Would definitely stay again.

« Beautifully situated, but it fails to hit the spot »

This extensively refurbished small hotel is exploiting its beautiful situation to provide wedding and function services, which inevitably impinge on the hospitality provided to the hotel guests. A single, hard working waitress served guests a very average quality dinner on small tables in a temporarily converted room. The buffet breakfast was unmemorable. We had a nice bedroom with a large comfortable bed, but the designer of its small new shower room has concentrated on glitzy initial appearances, with no thought being given to its use. There was not a shelf or single flat surface for guests' toiletries; there was nowhere to hang wet towels and there was only tepid water! Thankfully we were only staying one night, as some fine tuning is needed to enable the guests to fully enjoy this hotel.

    « Wedding reception »

We recently held our wedding reception at Frensham Ponds Hotel, we absolutely could not have wished for a better venue. Our wedding organiser Mala was great and although she was away at the time of our reception the duty Manager Richard was brilliant. During the afternoon and evening event Richard was always very attentive and everything was perfect. Credit must also go to the chef and all of the kitchen staff because the food exceeded ours and our guests expectations, everyone commented on how delicious the food was. Thank you to the whole team at Frensham Ponds Hotel for making our special day even more special. John & Alison

« Nostalgic visit to the past »

Frensham Pond Hotel provided a great luncheon party for 12 of my old friends from Farnham. I now live in California but my husband and I had Sunday lunch almost every week over the past 25 years. This recent visit was perfect in every respect. Wide choice of excellent food served by a very caring staff.

    « A really good Best Western »

Best Westerns seem to often deliver less than one might expect ,well this one is different. Although at the moment in the middle of a refurb depending where you are on the property you may encounter some problems ,but by the end of Oct all should be well. The parts that have been done look very nice and modern. What seems to make this venue are the staff ,all seem only too happy to please . Hotel food can also be hit and miss ,here from my one dinner experience a real hit. A good menu choice and they must have a really good chef as the comments I heard from the tables near me echoed my own positive thoughts. I didn't have breakfast ,but hopefully next time and there will be one ,I won't have to leave so early. Having stayed in a few properties around this area over the years ,this was a really nice surprise. Congratulations to the management team you have got it right.

Me and my wife stayed here for our 25th wedding anniversary. On arrival we were made very welcome. All staff were helpful and pleasant all weekend and service was excellent. Food was outstanding and plenty of it. The room was spacious and well kept. Even though there is building work going on the hotel was kept clean and dust free and no noise.

« Quirky and far better than any Best Western I have stayed in previously »

Stayed for two nights while working away. I have stayed in Best Western hotels before and always been disappointed, especially with the food. This time the hotel was close to my work place and I liked the idea of the lake so I thought sod it... lets try it. Booked a patio garden suite (which was in a kind of old fashioned 'terrace' of suites separate from the main hotel), as being able to just step outside from my room is a big bonus in my book. Check-in was easy and quick and the room was perfect for me; looking out over a large lawn and the odd (remember I said it was quirky) horse and cart sculpture! Oh, there are also elephant statues on the main entrances... I loved them! Dinner in the bar was ordered with trepidation but turned out to be excellent, so much appreciation went to their chef. It wasn't expensive either, which was a nice change but neither was it simple bar food... very tasty tempura prawns one night and a superb vege burger with cheddar cheese the next night. So... definite thumbs up for the food and drink (a local cider went down very well with my partner too). The water was plentiful and very hot, perfect for lounging in the bath. Bed was comfy, as were the pillows and the towels were huge and fluffy!! Really, the only negative thing I have to say about this hotel was the décor. Ok they are in the midst of refurbishment now so hopefully this will change soon, but the public areas of the hotel (bar, restraint, reception) were too bright and painted in 'cold' colours. It didn't make you want to spend much time in the bar, which in my mind should always be snug and welcoming. Luckily, the main draw of this hotel is right outside the bar.... THE LAKE! So we had our meals outside in the evening, listening to the moorhens on the water and watching the bats fly overhead. Bliss. It was quiet, relaxing and the hotel didn't seem too busy which was a plus. Oh and the staff were really friendly and helpful too. Over all, I definitely recommend the Frensham Pond Hotel. If you need the simple things to be got right then they certainly did. I would go back happily if I was in that area again.

« Great place for a quiet stay - excellent wedding venue. »

Stayed here October 2015 for my daughter´s wedding. Couldn´t have been more impressed. Staff very friendly, efficient and always on hand. The hotel has been recently refurbished and what a good job they´ve done - modern rooms, a good size, large plasma tv´s in every room, big walk in showers, large comfy beds. There were 60 of us for the wedding reception and usually the food quality suffers with that number, but not here. The food was excellent and served hot and quickly. Next morning we had the buffet breakfast - again top quality and piping hot. The location is superb, right on the banks of the big pond so you can have a leisurely walk or jog round to work up an appetite or just sit outside with a drink and watch the swans and ducks with a relaxing drink. Will definitely stay here again, was so impressed with everything.
