Very good hotel - would certainly use again. Very good value for money and service was excellent. Good food available nearby, good advice about the local area and close to a large shopping mall if you need any last minute items. Overlooking Humblot bay and close to 101. D. Lewis - 11/28/2016

« Great place to stay with Pets! »

Love that your hotel was clean and friendly. Breakfast was better than most hotels. Loved that they had fresh fruit. We were traveling with our dog and they had a great place to walk her just a block away.

    « Loved this Hotel! »

The hotel was very clean. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Close to several restaurants. Outdoor jacuzzi was nice and hot with good jets. Free continental breakfast. We had a great and restful time here. This was actually the nicest Best Western on our trip.

    « A luxury relaxing break »

We just stopped there for 4 night and it has been amazing! We had a room with a private Jacuzzi and it was superbe! Everything was perfect and it really worth the price! I enjoyed the breakfast, the swimming pool, the open and covered Jacuzzi, the sauna and everything was perfect! The staff is really kind, professional and always available.

    « Sketchy »

I stayed here on my way to LA because they say they are pet friendly. I got room 107 which seems to be well documented in the reviews on trip advisor. The room was big, and clean enough for one night, but not so clean that I wanted to use the spa or walk around barefoot on the carpet. One of my dogs was very interested in what was under the bed, and because the underside of the bed is boxed in, I couldn't tell what it was. The room was right across from housekeeping who made a lot of noise and right next to the road and party city parking lot. My dogs were already nervous on this trip but being surrounded by random noises, and with one of them fixated on something under the bed, I called the front desk to try to switch rooms. I received pushback from the front desk and I agreed to let housekeeping come in and check under the bed. They moved the mattress around and some of the pillows fell on the floor behind the mattress. They didn't find anything but when they left I found there was a bunch of gross fuzz stuck to the pillows that had fallen on the floor. Luckily I brought my own pillow. I paid about $90 for this room and I was still disappointed. There were sketchy people in the parking lot just hanging out for no reason. There was no place, and I mean absolutely no place, to take your dogs to do their necessary business. I kept taking them outside to the wood chips but one of my dog refused to go and it did not seem safe to walk around the area. I got up very early in the morning and drove my dogs 15 minutes to the dog park so they could go to the bathroom. I will never stay here again.

« This hotel is outstanding. »

This hotel I have come too for the last 14 years. I go up to see my grandson every month. There is a few that still remember me. It's nice to be remembered. The price now is great. When it goes to high, I go to other hotels. This staff is absolutely fit caring.

« We had stayed here three years ago & liked it, so tried it again. »

The room was spacious, comfortable and clean; however, the view was of the parking lot; they switched rooms on us upon arrival. I was tired and not aware that we wouldn't have the garden view I had requested over a month earlier. We enjoyed the hot tub in the evening. Get a garden view room. Air conditioning was noisy and tricky to operate in the dark. Check it out before retiring.

    « Just like home »

This hoel is so welcoming, making us feel like family the minute we walk through the door. It is very clean, bed is comfortable, breakfast is unbelievable. The staff are so friendly and helpful, always finding something fun to talk about and always helpful when answering questions. . It is one of the treasures we have found to enjoy on our CA vacations.

    « Traveling down hwy 101 sightseeing »

Avoid this Best Western at all costs. Room is priced like a Hilton but the accommodation's are a Motel 6. They say they are dog friendly, but wait until you see the room they put you in. People smoking all over the place in the parking lot and in chairs in front of their rooms. No place close to take your pet outside. And the area is not safe to walk your dog at night. Don't leave stuff in your car in the parking lot.

« Clean, quite room with a fireplace! »

We spent 2 nights at this hotel. At first I was a little concerned about noise at the motel with it's location being more in-town, next to a mall and an RV center; there was absolutely nothing to worry about. The room was clean and quiet, had a mini-fridge and a fireplace! It had been raining for most of our day and I was about to jokingly tell the family, "we can kick back with a pizza by the fireplace in the room", and it actually had one! The stay came with breakfast. It was a decent breakfast. I would stay here again.

As always our stay at this hotel was excellent!!! We have stayed at several Best Western hotels all over but this one excels above the rest!!! Their breakfast is always wonderful and filling!!! The staff are always helpful and courteous!! We plan on staying here again next year!!! I will recommend to friends and family!!!

« My complete appreciation continues... »

We come to Eureka once or twice a year to see family and we always book here at BW Bayshore Inn. We do our share of traveling and mostly look to Best Western first, and I think this one it tops, by far. From the friendly staff, to the cleanliness and value we love it. For the first time, I will say for Mgmt benefit, it might be time to consider a round of mattress purchase, we slept great, but they are becoming "auto-spoon", as we roll to the middle a bit. We still love the place...you will not be disappointed :)

    « Decent place - disappointing stay »

The facilities were acceptable although the room was on the main floor and quite noisy. Nice pool and fitness centre. Overall the stay was OK but the location, and clientele on the night that we stayed, was disappointing.

    5
    « Very pleased »

We had a room in the Garden Wing, which is in the back of the hotel (by the bay). Room was huge and had a whirlpool tub. Bed was very comfortable and hotel property very clean and well-maintained. The included breakfast was abundant with many choices. Hotel offers a discount to the Marie Calendars and Shamus T restaurants. Marie Calendars was good, Shamus T was not.

« Great place to unwind, not just a hotel! »

We stayed overnight, the place is so relaxing, calm, and the staffs are great. Great breakfast, the server noticed my juice was not fresh, she changed and brought me a fresh one, good catch! Great ambiance, love the fireplace, accessible coffee, clean pool and spa. We wil definitely come back again.

    5
« Excellent value for money »

We didn't have high expectations on arrival as the hotel is right beside Highway 101 however I got the best nights sleep of our whole trip. The room was huge, with 2 beds perhaps that's why I got a good nights sleep! There was a Jacuzzi, a fridge and a sink in the room. Fridges in the room are a pet hate of mine but this one you could turn right down so that it didn't make a noise all night. The room was well sound proofed so we didn't hear the highway in the night. Breakfast was included in the price. Lots of choice of hot and cold items. Altogether a good experience. Well done Best Western.

    « Best in Eureka »

This is a nice and affordable option in the North Coast area of California. We enjoyed the coffee and tea option available 24hrs. The room was nice and beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very good. Walking distance to the bay and the mall:) Will use this hotel again.

    5
    « Great staff »

This hotel was a great place to stay. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. The rooms were very nice and clean. Had a pool ,sauna business centre and laundry. The hotel is also pet friendly although we didn't have any pets . I would recommend this hotel for everyone.

« Visiting the redwoods in comfort »

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while visiting the Redwood Parks. We stayed in a king room in the Garden section with a view of the lovely garden and koi pond. The room was comfortable and nicely furnished with a fireplace, easy chair and ottoman, microwave and fridge, as well as a small table with 2 chairs. The bathroom was divided into 2 sections, one room with the toilet and tub shower, the other with the sink and a long counter where the coffemaker was, as well as an open closet area. We liked the feature that the entire bathroom area had a door between it and the bedroom, so that I could get up earlier than my husband and get ready and even make myself coffee without disturbing him. I booked this hotel over the other Best Western because I did not want to spend more money for a resort/spa area that I knew we would not use. And when we wanted to eat downtown, it was only a short drive. This hotel serves a great included breakfast! As well as all the standard fare, they always had bacon and sausage, as well as either omelets and scrambled eggs, or french toast as substitute for one of the egg choices. Some of the finer touches that I appreciated were several different kinds of coffee, cinnamon raisin bread, various toppings for yogurt or oatmeal, and not only USA Today, but also the local paper, both complementary. The breakfast area not only had seating in the buffet area, but also a large adjacent room for seating. The breakfast staff as well as all the other staff were excellent. Also at the end of the street, behind the BBQ restaurant, is the Hikshari' Trail, a pedestrian/bike trail that runs along the bay for over a mile, if you would rather get your exercise that way instead of in a fitness room. Also conveniently near is the Bayshore Mall with a WalMart as well as other stores and a food court. I know this is a rather long review, but this hotel exceeded my expectations, especially since we were there for more than a night or two.

« Great Place to Stay in Eureka »

I have stayed at the Best Western Bayshore several times, with and without pets. It's an older property, but extremely well maintained -- clean and fresh, which is not always the case with pet-friendly properties. I can highly recommend it. Close to a nice bay walking trail and next to a shopping center in case you forgot to pack something.

  • 5
    « Great hotel »

We liked this hotel. It's a great option in a small town with very few options. Parking is tough but being one of the nicer hotels in town, it's expected. It's walking distance to the bay where you can walk a trail along the water, is next door to several restaurants and close to the mall if you want to do some shopping. Good breakfast and a nice pool for the kids. We'll definitely stay again next time we are in town visiting family.

    4
    « Very nice hotel »

We stayed at this hotel without knowing much about it. We were looking for a pet friendly hotel while traveling north. The hotel was very nice, the rooms were decorated beautifully, the front desk staff was very helpful and the continental breakfast was amazing. Very clean facilities. The only down side was noise. Lots and lots of noise but the rooms have some sound proofing.

    5
« Wish We Could Have Stayed Longer »

After we checked in we went to our room that was clearly marked "no smoking" but when we got into the room you could clearly smell the smoke. We called the front desk from the smokey room and they immediately said that they would fix it and to come to the front desk for a new room. I waited by the car and luggage while my wife got the new room key. It wasn't but 5 minutes later that she came back. She said they were so apologetic and wanted us to be satisfied so they gave us an upgrade with no questions asked. It was too bad that we only stayed there one night. I told them when we checked out that we had stayed in a Hilton for about twice the price but didn't get near the same kind of fast response and service that we did here

    4
    « Great Stop-Over Location »

This Best Western was clean, the staff was friendly and the room we had was huge with a jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed the pool and hot tub as well as the full breakfast which was included. Noisy trucks woke us up in the middle of the night due to location on a busy street but otherwise our stay was great for a stop-over.

    5
« Amazing Pet Friendly Hotel »

For ALL dog owners, this is a must-book hotel. Not only is the facility beautiful, but the rooms are great. I stayed 2 nights with my husband and dog. As soon as we walked into the room we felt right at home. The room was clean (no sign of previous pet stays or carpet stains) had a refrigerator, microwave, wifi, coffee maker and shampoo, conditioner and soap dispenser attached to the wall of the shower and was very spacious. FOR THE LADIES, hotel provides a small make-up remover bag. Bag contains, a make-up remover wipe, cotton swabs, cuties and a towel (I have never seen this kit anywhere else). I will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. Oh there is also a 24 hour fitness room, laundry room and sauna. It also has an indoor and outdoor pool!!!

    4
    « Beat all expectations »

Hotel management made a good decision with the recent upgrades. The room was kept clean and very quiet at night. Breakfast offered included a wide variety of healthy foods. The front desk team was very friendly and very responsive. I would stay here again.

« Very nice place, quiet »

Okay views from rooms even on second floor you can see water but mainly just the parking lot. We stayed in the garden wing (private pool area) no kids/pets. Very quiet large rooms! Hot tub in garden area very nice and we got to visit when it was empty. We walked though main pool/spa area an interesting inside and outside half wall pool but looked very nice. Hotel is more of an open air feel you walk outside after you exit your room would be okay in nice weather but in the rain a pain to get to breakfast area which is all the way in the front of hotel near lobby. Tons of breakfast options usual waffles, bread, eggs, bacon but also fresh fruit salad, biscuits, sausage and gravy and 7ish different types of coffee. Free cookie with check in!! Who doesn't love a free cookie?

« nice stop on a twisty road »

Drove many hours up Calif 1 and 101 seeing the rugged coast and the magnificent redwoods, so great to find this very pleasant Best Western motel in Eureka. Staff and room quite nice, extensive hot breakfast and generous discount in nearby Marie Callendar's.

« Wonderful Stay at a Best Western Plus »

We just completed a four night stay in Room 341 at this Best Western Plus, our first stay at a Plus property. We really appreciate a large room with great amenities and service, and this property doesn't disappoint. The hotel seems quite new and the rooms and cleanliness are outstanding. Our room in the garden annex facing the bay had a small balcony, king bed, and electric fireplace, really quiet. Coffee in Room and full coffee bar at elevator entrance. Breakfast was full with standard fare, nothing special, but more than adequate. The desk and cleaning service are outstanding. Great location with two restuarants outside your door. Highly recommended.

« Great location, friendly staff, dog friendly »

2 humans and 2 dogs visited this nice hotel. The room was super nice and clean. The staff very friendly. The hotel was clean and in a great location. Just down the street there is a nice path to walk the pups.

    « Beautiful Hotel »

One of the better Best Western Pluses I have stayed in. Beautiful Hotel. Lovely decorated. Very pleased with the location. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Eureka area. All of my special requests were honored.

    « Great stay »

Arrived in Eureka late without reservations to find most hotels without vacancies. Bayshore Best Western had 3 Rooms/suites in their garden wing. What a treat. Quiet, clean & comfortable. Staff was great. Will definitely consider for future trips.

    « Helpful people »

Only a one night stay but we had picked up another traveller friend and asked if the had a suite. They did and the cost was reasonable. The suite had all the kitchen appliances as well so we ate in instead of going out. Breakfast also included and reasonable range. Great walking tracks within 200 yards of the hotel and handy to shops. Kitchen could have been a bit cleaner and no shower curtain so water went everywhere despite our care. But overall we were happy given their helpfulness. Parking inc.

    « Bad service »

This a beautiful hotel! Room was clean bed was super comfortable problem was when we turned the heat on nothing happened it wouldn't work. We called front desk they said they would send someone up. We waited for a hour and a half and no one showed up we called back and they said they had to come from across town so we go eat dinner come back and still no show. They finally show up at 11pm when we were asleep. My husband is handicapped so I couldn't let them in while he was asleep so we just stayed cold all night. I usually stay at best westerns but for the rest of our trip I stayed away from them

    5
    « Excellent Lodging »

This is one of the nicest Best Western hotels we've stayed at. Our 3rd floor room had a view overlooking the lovely central gardens with large koi pond and seating areas. The breakfast was complete with a fresh fruit bowl containing pineapple, grapes, cantaloupe and honey dew melon. Crispy bacon, sausage, bisquits, gravy, waffles and oatmeal, in addition to all the normal cereals and breads. Several coffee flavors.

    5
    « Reasonable pch stop »

Stopped here on our way up the PCH in order to get close to Redwood NP. The room and lobby were in great shape, and everything looked fairly new. The parking lot was a little tight, and people were stuck parking in compact spots with larger vehicles, but it all worked out for us. The garden view and pond were nice, but we didn't spend much time looking at those. It is a little farther from town, but driving over there was no issue. If ur looking for a nice clean stop on PCH, this fits the bill nicely.

    5
    « nice stay »

Had stayed prior at this hotel, but was much more expensive then due to prime time (also had a toilet overflow during that stay, but attended to quickly). Location very convenient. This stay, MUCH better as rate was very competitive and love the walking path for the dogs. Also LOVE that the breakfast has enhanced water at the juice bar. Wi-Fi also the best I have had in recent stays. Highly recommended.

« We had a great room and it was so nice and BIG »

We were there one night only. The front desk staff were so wonderful. She was great in getting us a very nice large room with all the things we could ever way. The room was well taken care of and VERY clean. There are two great places to eat with in 200 yards of the Bayshore Inn. You get a 20% discount at one and 10% at the other one. The bed was so comfortable and it was quite. There is a shopping center close by if you want to do some walking or need something.

    « Best Western Eureka »

Great Hotel. Clean and great staff. Also restaurant close to hotel. The grounds are very clean and well kept. Love the Koi ponds in the inter-garden and all the plants. The hotel sets on the edge of down town. It is fairly quiet as apposed to being in down town where is can be a little noisy.

    « Excellent Experience »

I was pleasantly surprised at my experience at this Hotel. Comfortable room, comfy bed, great breakfast selections that were included in price and pleasant, friendly staff. We also had our pet with us and the room was wonderful!

    2
    « A real disappointment »

Although Best Western is a national chain, my experience has been that they very much more than other major brands. We had an unfortunate and disappointing experience. The hotel staff was courteous but a bit officious and definitely not helpful. The hotel has outside access only and although there was an elevator, it was far from our room. The room itself was small and minimally acceptable. We were told it would be quiet but it was right on a side street and across the street from a Walmart shopping center. A tractor-trailer truck started and ran his engine for about 45 minutes early in the morning. The hotel also had a number of long-term guests, mostly probably construction workers, who were on the noisy side. The outside lights for the parking lot and outside did not go on until quite late in the evening making the travel on the walkways more difficult than it needed to be. The breakfast was just okay. This hotel was definitely the worst experience of our trip.

    5
    « A trip to the redwoods »

We enjoyed our stay and very much enjoyed the breakfast service. It was part of why we chose to stay at Best Western because of the free breakfast bar. The food was good, hot and it was kept very clean. Very enjoyable

    « Overnight Stay »

My boyfriend and I were helping a friend move to Eureka when she booked us a night at this hotel. When we opened the door, we had a spacious, comfy King size bed, big TV and a gas fireplace! The bathroom amenities were something I had never seen before. A make-up remover pad, cotton balls, cotton swabs for your ears and even a black towel to remove your make-up. Even though the hotel parking lot was packed, we had a quiet night stay, which I was pretty happy with! We passed by the hot top and koi pond on our way out towards breakfast. Breakfast was good, waffles, bacon, sausage, eggs, toast, juice, fruit, yogurt and cereal. Next time we come up this way, I'm definitely going to be booking a room here. I just wish that the parking spots were a tad wider.

    4
« This is the place to stay in Eureka »

The room was nice and clean and they maintained the outside very well. The parking lot is a little crowded to get around and I'm not sure how they could improve it. Nice and quiet for us and great beds and spacious room. Breakfast was good (bacon was crisp and crazy good) and above average. We stayed on the main floor for good access to the outdoors. We had a pet friendly room and were very pleased with the ease of letting Andy outside.

    3
« Okay if you need to crash but too far from the waterfront tourist area »

It was getting late and we knew it was time to find a place to stay for the night. US101 cuts through the middle of Eureka and I saw the Bayshore Inn and it had vacancies. The staff was pleasant, the grounds and the small room well cared for, but the location was noisy and not well located for tourist and night life activities (far from the very attractive waterfront and Old Town). They sort of made up for these shortcomings with a better than average breakfast in the garden lounge. However, for me, location is everything and next time I'll book a room on the waterfront in old town.

    5
« Humorous & efficent front desk clerk »

I was traveling with extended family. We had 4 rooms. The evening check-in process was very efficient and personable. She made the end of our long traveling day not stressful. Hot cookies & coffee made our group more mellow. These rooms all opened to the outside, were simple and clean with a pretty teal/brown color scheme. Bathrooms had new shower/tub combo's and the granite counter-top/sink was separate. The breakfast had plenty of seating and an attendant was there at all times. I appreciated the hot real oatmeal with plenty of available add-ins. There was real bacon and eggs plus all the normal breakfast items. All 4 of our non-smoking rooms were perfect and I would stay again.

    4
    « Very Nice Stay »

We stopped here for one night on a trip up the coast. The location isn' t great with a mall across the street, tractor trailers and campers along the side street and many transient people around. We had a room facing the street/mall which was not a nice view, but we weren't bothered by noise. The room was large, well decorated, and clean. The bed was comfy. They were booked full so the breakfast room was busy, but they did a great job of keeping it stocked with many selections and the tables cleared. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant. We often choose BW because no matter the location or age of the building they seem to strive for cleanliness, good breakfast, and customer serv ice.

« Surprisingly Good Transit Stop »

We booked this as a transit stop on a drive from San Francisco to Seattle up Highway 101. We did not have time to use any of the hotel's facilities, and only wanted somewhere to get a good night's sleep. The hotel is right on Highway 101, so easy to find. The hotel was fully booked. We had booked months in advance and were disappointed on arrival by the limited and relatively poor choice of rooms - either backing onto the potentially noisy road, or a pet friendly room with potential dog smells, both on the ground floor. We chose the dog option. As it turned out, our room was fine. A typical 1970s style large room with dark decor and a comfortable king sized bed. Free WiFi was particularly good. We were pleasantly surprised that it was very quiet and we had a very good night's sleep. The hotel does not have a dinner restaurant, but there is an excellent steakhouse (Shamus's T Bone) at the back in easy walking distance. The hotel serves a good buffet breakfast. I think there is a swimming pool and some other facilities, but we never had time to test them. The hotel gave us exactly what we needed but was not one of those special places that we will remember for years to come.

    « overpriced for a motel »

Just an OK motel for a Best Western. For over $150.00 per night would expect better than just an ok motel. This is not a hotel....it is a motel with outside entrance doors. The only seating we had in room was a very small round table with 2 small kitchen like chairs. Parking spaces are scarce...they need more. Was also disappointed that they only had 1 washer & dryer for the amount of rooms they have. The mall is across the road & there is 2 restaurants within walking distance.

« nice place to stay »

A very clean and comfortable room. Near a couple of pretty nice restaurants, and a very lovely walk along the water just a couple of blocks from the hotel. A pretty good breakfast too. I'd be happy to stay here again if I'm in the area.

    5
    « Surprisingly great hotel!! »

I booked this hotel expecting a very average overnight stay, since it was to be just an overnight crash on our anniversary road-trip down the west coast. What a pleasant surprise! The room was large, with a great jacuzzi tub and included bottles of water. The bed and pillows were just right. I slept like a baby. My husband loved the breakfast (I slept in) and we left Eureka for Napa feeling great. A special note: when we got there, the clerk couldn't find our reservation. It turned out I had reserved the night before! It was totally my fault, yet the General Manager, Emily, was completely gracious and professional about it. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

« comfortable overnight and convenient location »

Our king garden view room with a wide-screen TV, and fireplace was clean and spacious. We were treated at the front desk with great cookies. Show your room key at Marie Calendar's, right next door, and receive a discount (also at the steakhouse at the back of the hotel property?). Free in-room internet and full breakfast were included.

    « Business trip »

Beautiful room with fireplace and hot tub.. Even through it was on the ground floor and on the end, we had a beautiful stay. It was in walking distance of the Mall near by and Marie Calendar next door.

« Awesome place, right in our town! »

This is a top notch hotel. We stayed in the back in the garden area and there was a beautiful koi pond and garden. It was truly amazing. So pleasant. There was a bonus for me that there was a piano in the lobby which I played and enjoyed thoroughly. I would recommend this place most highly. The adjacent restaurant is amazing. Best prime rib ever!

    « Quiet Overnight »

My daughter and I had a short stay overnight along with my 1 year old Maltese pup. I love that most Best Western hotels are accommodating to dogs. The room was quiet and clean, and the check-in very smooth and quick, which was appreciated late-night.

« room over looking the bay with balcony »

This was an awesome hotel. They have a pool, hot tub, suauna, and business center. We loved having a Jacuzzi in our room. The breakfast was really good had a little bit of everything and really enjoyed the breakfast sandwich. We were told at the front desk to walk to the historic park and it was just up the street very fun. It has a path talking about when solidiers were there and logging equipment used in the area.

    « Another great stay »

This property is making many changes to upgrade. The staff has new snazzy uniforms to match their snazzy personalities. Some of the changes are simple like not needing a gym key. My favorite is the new waffles machines. As always I was treated great by Rachel and Carlee this visit and welcomed back for the next. I need to find a new place to eat locally but the hotel and it's amenities more than suit my needs. Great job guys keep it up

« Quiet, easy to find »

Right off Highway 101. We were on the top/3rd floor at our request (after a sleepless night in another hotel due to noisy upstairs neighbors) and heard absolutely nothing from neighbors or the pool just down stairs. Looks like a new hotel and very clean, lots of parking, elevator. Buffet breakfast was good. Check in and check out was fast and friendly.

Greeted with friendly smiles and homemade cookies. Breakfast is included and is extensive and tasty. The rooms are comfortable, large TV screens, great mattress and beddings. Recently remodeled and well maintained. Great location near everything Eureka. Downtown 5 minutes in car.

« Depressed area, but great hotel! »

Not exactly a great location , but the hotel property was clean and the staff friendly and accommodating. Eureka, in my opinion, looks sadly depressed. The Best Western sits close to the main boulevard, next to Marie Callenders where they offer a 20% discount by showing your room card. Property was well lit, and remarkably it felt very safe.

    « Underrated!! »

Our experience at this hotel was nothing short of first class. Here's a list of what I was pleased with at this establishment: First, we arrived VERY early as we drove all night and into the morning. They allowed us to check in around 11am as the room was cleaned and ready. The staff was very nice and thoughtful... Almost as if their job was to serve customers.. Wild proposition I know. The room was very clean, fairly updated, the "fireplace" was a little corny because it was one of those moving picture fireplaces, as best I can describe it, but that is literally my only gripe. FREE breakfast was fantastic, although get there early as there are many hungry patrons. Or wait until the crowd has dispersed. The grounds were pretty cool. They had a decent hot tub and a koi pond area that's nice to look at. I've stayed at $700 a night hotels and I've stayed at $40 a night hotels, and from what I can see, BW Bayshore deserves a minimum 4 star overall rating. Thanks for reading.

« Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn, Eureka »

We decided to drive up and stay for our anniversary to get out of the heat in the valley. Had the McDonalds view along street with refrigerated trucks cycling all night. That was romantic !! Went to use the in room Jacuzzi, it didn't work, but the hotel still made us pay full price for the room. Woke up last day of stay to no hot water at all, nothing like a cold shower to wake you up. You get the homeless wandering thru parking lot looking to see what they can steal from your car. If you approach, they can be aggressive. Don't think about walking any where around hotel, you could throw a rock and hit at least 2 homeless people. Some things I can deal with, but when they happen at once it's sad. I know the homeless is not their fault, but it is their "problem" and it needs to be addressed. I've stayed in nicer hotels without these problems for half the price. They should have armed security on site !!

« Great hotel, great breakfast »

This is a great hotel. It has a very nice breakfast with hot and cold choices. It even has a "grab and go" bag that is ready if you need to just go quickly. Marie Colander's is on property and the Bayshore Mall is next door. You can walk a block to the bay and then take a nice stroll along the bay. There is also a steak house between the property and the bay so there are lots of options of nearby items.

    « Comfortable Stay »

We were on our way to San Francisco and this was a stop over. The hotel was pleasant and had a good breakfast. It was a good choice for a stop over on our road trip. The bed was comfortable and the room was a good size for the 3 adults in our group. The location was convenient for sight seeing in Eureka as well.

« Excellent Breakfast is Included »

We stayed here for only night on our way down the California Coast, in a 2 queen room. We arrived after the pool closed, so we were not able to make use of that. The parking lot was almost full, so my husband had to park illegally while we unloaded our bags. We had a second floor room that had a door facing the parking lot, and a window facing a beautiful courtyard in the back. We had breakfast about 8am, and as expected, it was packed. The hotel did a good job of handling the people, although I noticed some families had to split up at different tables. Our family of 4 shared a table with another couple. They had hot items, which they continuously ran out of for brief periods of time, 2 waffle makers with lots of toppings, and the standard continental fare. Enough drink choices as well. I helped interpret for a family that needed a gluten-free breakfast for their daughter (and they got it!). The sliding lock on our door did not work, but we did not call down to get it fixed because we were so tired we just wanted to sleep. The bolt did work, so we felt comfortable bolting the door and placing our huge duffle bag in front of it.

    « Wonderful stay »

We booked only one night at this hotel and wished we had booked a 2nd. It was totally booked, preventing an additional night's stay. The room we were given was in the "quiet" are with koi pond outside our door surrounded by lots of greenery. The room was very spacious and immaculate. The breakfast the next morning was very good. Staff were exceptional. It was walking distance to a sanctuary area with walking paths to view wildlife. All-in-all it was a perfect experience. However, can't say much for the Marie Calendars adjacent to the hotel. The service was horrible, the restaurant needed a good cleaning and updating and they were out of one of their specials at 5:30 PM!

    « Excellent Stay »

Our stay at the Bayshore Inn was better than expected. Even though our room was on the 3rd floor, we had an elevator and carts to take our luggage up with. The room was large and comfortable, with TVs and refrigerator and microwave. The bathroom was good and clean, and nearby restaurants were available. The parking was great, and the morning breakfast provided by the Bayshore Inn was fantastic.

« Best Western Bayshore Inn review »

Hotel is a very good value for price. Rooms range from simple to plush, and even simple is plenty adequate. Free breakfast is included and it is as good as you might expect for the price. The dining room gets crowded and noisy but there always seems to be an open table available. The hotel is well maintained with attractive grounds. Good restaurants are nearby. Downfall, not the fault of the hotel, the homeless problem in the vicinity of the hotel is terrible. I felt unsafe on nearby walks. If outside the hotel grounds, lock your car and mind your valuables. Location is close to attractions.

« Great place to stay, »

A very upscale hotel for a Best Western. Service was very good with bottled water in the room for guest (love that). Good location - easy to get to. clean and updated. We had a nice view of the inside courtyard better than most.

    « Excellent stay »

The room was clean and spacious. Everything you would expect from a newer best western. Our room seemed newly redone. Great A/C in each room therefore allowing for the windows to be closed and a quiet stay. Breakfast was also good. Great price for what you get, which is a quiet, clean place to stay. Two slight negatives. 1. Caulk along the top of the bathtub in room 327 needs to be redone as there is mildew underneath it. 2. They put a $20 incidental charge on your card that they return in 2-3 days if nothing is wrong. This seems unnecessary when they have your card on file that they can charge for an room damages.

« Great place with wonderful staff »

A wonderful hotel that has welcoming staff, clean and comfortable rooms and extremely comfortable beds. The amenities are good quality and set in a nice basket on the vanity along with a small black towel labelled 'makeup' which is a really nice touch. It's next door to 2 restaurants and a plaza with a TJ Max. The only negative comment is that the breakfast area is really small and cramped without enough seating and it gets REALLY crowded so I advise you to go early.

« Wonderful hotel but cramped breakfast area »

The staff was very welcoming and the hotel was very clean and comfortable. The only somewhat negative comment I have is on the breakfast area as it's way too small with not enough seating as is the area where you get your food...extremely cramped and crowded.

    « great place »

I can honestly say that I enjoyed my stay here at this Best Western. The room was very decent and the breakfast was great! One more thing that I can say made me also give them a 5 rating, is their awesome customer service. Ashley checked us in and out, she is so sweet and friendly, but also everyone we experienced in the front lobby were of great assistance. Will definitely stay here again.

« Lovely Room and Filling Breakfast »

The purpose of our trip was to visit Redwood National and State Parks, which was about 42 miles north, so it was a bit far to drive everyday. However, anywhere closer was more expensive, so this BW Plus Bayshore Inn was a good compromise. First, the room was very clean and in good order, and the furnishings rather new and comfortable. Next, the breakfasts were quite copious with good variety--cereals, waffles, eggs, sausages, bacon, oatmeal, and fruit. A great idea was the "Grab & Go" bags which contained fruit, small water, and a granola bar. Little touches make the difference. My last compliment, but not least, goes out to the staff. Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. I especially appreciate the hard-working maids, kitchen, and breakfast room staff. They work so hard, but no one really acknowledges them. I made sure to leave the breakfast room staff a tip everyday, and I left a tip for the room cleaning staff. The room was spotless, and there was no shortage of tasty food in the breakfast room. Nice job, Best Western Bayshore Inn.

Best Western, Bayshore Inn is a great place to stop for an overnight or extended stay. The rooms are clean and spacious. In a great location if you want to go to the beach or just explore. The staff is friendly and their breakfast has a nice variety of items available. It is a dog friendly hotel with 1st floor access for the dogs. They even offer a little treat bag for you doggie friend. I recommend staying here for anyone coming to the area.

    « curbside appeal »

hotel has curbside appeal. We asked for a non smoking room. Upon entering, the room wreaked of smoke. The clerk apologized and upgraded us to a garden suite. We were just hoping for a clean smelling room and were most appreciative of the garden suite. The historic district was quaint but the rest of the area along Rt. 101 was pretty run down. We were very disappointed that the former Carson Mansion is now under private ownership and no longer offers tours.

« Awesome staff and admenities »

Room is always clean and staff is friendly. Mall is across the street and the bay is in view of the room. Pool is nice and the area is very relaxing. There is a place to hike, run, swim and just enjoy the area.

    « Good Hotel »

The hotel itself is fine. All staff we spoke to were friendly & helpful. Had an issue with our door card not working when we got there, but were told not to keep it near our mobile/cell phone or other cards with magnetic strips on. We had a nice big room on the ground floor as well. Seamaus T Bones just down from the hotel is great and there is a little walk along the sea front where you can see pelicans diving for fish, which is quite nice after a meal. There is a shopping Mall next to it, but unfortunately its not very good really. We were in and out within about 15 minutes max. The following isn't a reflection on the hotel at all, as I have always found Best Western Hotels good, but Eureka itself is not the best place we stayed. Im afraid we found it quite run down in 90% of the areas and the through traffic is very heavy. Finally be aware that there are 2 Best Westerns in Town. The other one is Down Town and near the Victorian Part of the town. That part was pleasant enough, but very quiet, especially as we went down there on a Friday night and expected it to be busier. Hotel I would recommend to all if you need to stay in Eureka, but Eureka itself....I would give it a miss

« When in Eureka, CA »

When we visit the area we stay here because the rooms in the back section have bay views & a fireplace too. The garden area is lovely and nice large hot tub to relax in. We have stayed here 3 times so far and plan to come back soon.

« Far Better Than Expected! »

We booked this for a stopover night on our way from the Bay Area to the Oregon coast. We didn't need anything great, just a decent place to sleep. Eureka was a convenient place to stop and the online price was right. For the price, I didn't expect much. But was I pleasantly surprised! The room was very large, very well appointed and nicely updated. The complex itself was clean & well cared for. The staff was very friendly. It definitely surpassed my expectations.

    « Excellent »

Homemade cookies at check-in, bottled water in your room, secure high-speed internet, electric fireplace in your room, a view of the garden and the bay, and a delicious steakhouse on premises. I was a little leary of the area, but all corridors are gated off and you need a room key to enter. Coined laundry on premises, carafes of several types of coffee with fresh fruit and pastries at various stations for the taking. A beautiful garden, huge koi pond and a hot tub in the middle. A welcome sight after a long day on the road.

Dont hold parking spaces for an event. The event had about 15 cars but there was still 15 blank spaces and I could have parked there and not on the street where cars get broken into!! I think it was a great hotel otherwise. Good breakfast great bacon and gluten free options

« This hotel changed my opinion on staying at Best Westerns »

After a really bad experience at a Best Western years ago (think willing to sleep in the car instead of hotel), we have avoided all of them. This trip we had 2 different locations where they seemed to be the only reasonable choice, we relied heavily on tripadvisor reviews, and they didn't let us down. Best Western Plus Bayshore was a pleasant treat, the room was larger than most, very clean, with comfortable beds. As seems typical with most Best Westerns, there are no interior corridors, room doors open directly to the outside, with the office and breakfast area in one building and rooms in others. Breakfast was very good with more options than at many hotels. After many years of avoiding the chain we will now consider them as an option, depending on their specific reviews.

    « Such a nice place »

It was nice. The rooms were really comfy. The breakfast is phenomenal! They have almost everything you can think of at the buffet. The bathrooms were clean and they have a really nice pool, gym, business center, and sauna. They are also pet friendly too! The pool is only open from 9-9 which is a bit early. Usually I like it 9-10. I felt like it could have had a few more things to give it the whole "plus" feeling but it was still nice. The staff were NICE AND EXTREMELY HELPFUL. This lady named rachel helped us who was super professional and quite funny.

Nice hotel, clean and friendly Had to walk from room door to office 2 times because keys did not work. On the second visit the clerk acted as if I did not know how to properly use the key. 3rd floor with a nice garden view but our keys would not open the door to the garden.

    « great stay »

our room was very clean, all the hotel staff were very accommodating and courtesy. Breakfast was better than average hotel breakfast food, the ladies in the breakfast area were always keeping everything well stocked, if something was it wasn't long before they replenished it. I would definitely stay here again!

    « Great stay! »

The Best Western in Eureka is a great hotel while traveling along the California coast. The hotel is extremely kid-friendly and offers a very cool area for a swimming pool and hot tub. The hotel provides clean rooms, a nice workout facility and offers a decent breakfast. The front desk staff was very friendly and welcoming (Michelle? ? I think). We strongly recommend the Best Western in Eureka ? they also have limo service.

« Geographically convenient glorified roadhouse »

A perfectly serviceable bed for the night but deeply uninspiring in most regards. The rooms are spacious enough and shower products, wifi and breakfast (such as it was) are included which is a plus but there's no getting away from the fact it's in a semi industrial area and next to a prefab out of town mall. The quality of breakfast can be summarised by the fact it was a buffet using paper plates and plastic cutlery. Yeah, that. See the redwoods, use this place to sleep, get up and go.

    5
    « Excellent Customer Service »

The hotel its self is very clean and comfortable, and the customer service at this property was exceptional. On our second night's stay we were looking for a taxi company to take us into town. As the area of Eureka is rather small, taxi companies are few and far between. The front desk agent who was on at the time not only located a taxi company for us, but went as far as booking one for us with pick up right outside our room. I highly recommend this property to anyone visiting the northern California coast.

    « Nice night's stay »

Friendly staff, clean rooms (although very dark - more lighting would be a plus!). Great free hot breakfast! Popular hotel - sells out quickly during busy season - don't wait to book! Close to several restaurants and a McDonalds. Fridge and microwave in the room.

« Very clean and well-equipped room plus a good free breakfast »

Our group of 5 (me, my husband, adult daughter, adult son, and his girlfriend) stayed here last month in a 2-room suite (2 queens in the main room and a 3rd queen in a separate room), and 1 bathroom. Each room had a TV and the main room also had a mini fridge, microwave, and coffeemaker. The rooms were very clean. The beds were comfortable and each one had 4 soft pillows. The bathroom had a hair dryer, dispensers for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, a small bottle of lotion, make-up remover wipes, cotton balls & q-tips, a shower cap, and a nail file. The free breakfast included waffles (with toppings?strawberry, blueberry, and whipped cream), eggs, bacon, sausage, egg burritos, oatmeal, bread, bagels, mini donuts, pastries, coffee, teas, juices, flavored waters, and hot chocolate. We only got 4 breakfast ?tickets? because the technical limit for the room was 4 adults (I don't know why), but it wasn't a problem because our kids are not big breakfast eaters, so only the girlfriend joined my husband and me. They have a pool, hot tub, fitness center, and laundromat, but we didn't use any of these. There is a mall across the street that had a Walmart which was convenient to stock up on drinks, snacks, and other supplies for our multi-day trek up the coast to Vancouver. Overall, we were very pleased with the accommodations.

« The Best, Best Western I have visited! »

This hotel exceeded my expectations by a long shot. The staff is super nice and will go above and beyond to help you. The rooms are ultra clean and offer every amenity you can think of, the breakfast is good and the grounds are beautiful! They even have a coy pond. This hotel is very safe and secure, yet offers easy access from two parking lots. If you don't want to go to the breakfast room in the morning, they leave coffe carafes, pastries/ muffins & fruit near the elevator of the west wing. The service is amazing -- I highly recommend staying here.

    4
    « Huge Room »

Stayed here one night passing through town. Was surprised to walk into our room that had a completely separate living room area. I just thought I booked a king room with a pullout sofa. This was like a little apartment which was a great surprise. Hot breakfast was good, and close to other dining options. Would stay here again.

    4
« Worht the Plus Designation »

The night before last, we stayed at a Best Western Plus and it was not worthy of the designation (I reviewed that property). This place, the Bayshore Inn in Eureka was well worth the Plus designation. The room was large, quiet and very clean. The bathroom was more than adequate and the assessories were plentiful. The beds were very comfortable and the TV was large. This is a very good place to say when in the area.

    « Great night sleep »

My husband and I had been traveling for many days from Seattle, Oregon and then to CA, when we stayed in Eureka. Check in was easy and quick. We got a king size bedroom on the 3rd floor. The room is average size and the bathroom has the sink area separate from the shower/toilet area. The thing that may sound simple, but if you've stayed in lots of different hotels you'll understand, the air conditioner was THE quietest we have EVER experienced. It was great. No waking up continuously all night long because of the racket! They also offer a much better free breakfast than what we had seen anywhere, not just on this trip. Fresh berries was my favorite.

    5
« Stay in the garden area. »

What a lovely experience. Everyone was so nice and efficient. I had stayed here before but hadn't seen the garden area. Wow. A koi pond, a large hot tub, grass, plants, no little yippy dogs (or any animals, for that matter), no smoking, and no screaming kids. Heaven. It was oh so quiet and peaceful.

    1
« Lots of smokers and noise »

We stayed here one night on our way down the coast. We found that the room smelled of badly and the bathroom even worse. While the staff said that it was not used by people allowed to use medical marijuana or smokers, the smell was strong. The staff did not offer any solutions. The rooms open onto a walkway deck where many people choose to smoke. It drifts into the nearby rooms. Also, there is noise from people and suitcases going by the room windows--particularly in the early morning. We would not stay here again.

    4
    « Very attractive setting »

This a large hotel with very a pretty garden and coi fish pond. I'm sure they try hard but at peak periods they seems to struggle with the workload. The staff are efficient but rushed off their feet at times. They don't have time (or the energy) to take much interest in individual guests. This hotel has the potential to be great. Perhaps at less busy times it is.

    4
    « Beautiful, safe oasis »

Eureka is a depressed city with an extreme indigent population. Not just pan handlers, full on crazy with big intact dogs on virtually every block. We stayed here because it's clean & safe. Just don't walk your dog outside the complex. Food is close by, shopping mall - great breakfast.

« Visiting a new area that I have never been to before. »

The Bay side view is of the Bay, a parking lot and the restaurant located there. Having said that it is the best view of the entire establishment. The doors to the room do not slam when you close them. It is very very quiet. Never heard anything. The room I was in was a suite and it was great. Fireplace and Jacuzzi. The air-conditioner did its trick and what I really liked about it was it didn't cycle on and off which creates warmth, than cool and the changing of the sound can be disrupting to sleep. There is a large Koi pond with lots of huge Koi. There is a tray with different types of food like muffins and apples along with enormous amounts of coffee on the ground floor by the vending machines. Food goes fast though. Staff wasn't overly friendly, but professional. The free morning breakfast was packed with people. There was a lot of variety but I thought the food was just okay. They also have newspapers available if anyone is interested at the morning breakfast or on the ground floor by the pastries and vending machines. The steak house located behind where you get a 10% discount on just the entrée only was somewhat overpriced and just okay. The only issue that I had was on the cleaning of the room. They give you a card on how you want the room cleaned. My wife didn't want to have them wash the linens everyday so just marked the spot for change towels dump garbage and that is all they ended up doing. There wasn't a more precise comment on what we would liked to have done to the the room. To our surprise they didn't do any cleaning in the sink of the bathroom and left the bed unmade. I would expect that to be one even if nothing else was done. It is in kind of a less desirable part of Eureka, but I really really liked it!

    « so suprised »

This hotel is beautiful inside and out. Front desk on check in was fast and professional. Room was perfect. Except the bed was old, lumpy and difficult to sleep on. When we pulled the covers back you could see where the mattress dipped down in holes through out the mattress. Worst night of sleep ever.

Very good motel. The Garden Terrace rooms were very nice. Great Koi pond, oversized jacuzzi, plenty of seating, free coffee and vending machines. Rooms were spacious and clean. The lighting was good. I didn't care for the dispensers in the shower but it makes things easy if you have all that at your finger tips.

« Super comfy and good value, shame about the waste »

We found this hotel to be excellent in many ways- friendly and helpful staff, beautiful luxurious rooms, super comfortable beds and plenty of room for a family of 5 with teenagers, all in the same room. Unfortunately there was a shocking use of disposable products used by the hotel, in preference to items that could be washed or recycled. The breakfast only had plastic cutlery and paper plates available, and most food items also had disposable packaging. What a shame when cutlery and crockery would be so much more pleasant to eat from, and so much better for the planet too.

    « Very nice stay »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western Plus Bayshore. Our room was spacious, clean, quiet, and comfortable. We appreciated the elevator, as our room was on the second floor. There were plenty of dining options, some just across the parking lot. The included hot breakfast buffet was excellent. Parking was a minor issue but we were able to find a reasonably close space. We would certainly not hesitate to stay here again.

What a wonderful place to stay! The staff was fun and friendly. The room was clean, well maintained, and the beds were very comfy. There was a yummy restaurant behind the motel overlooking the bay that served delicious smoked ribs, steak, and hamburgers. The motel also included a free breakfast with just about anything you wanted. We will definitely stay there again.

    « Nice Amenities! »

Our truck broke down while making the trek from Oregon to Texas and we were fortunate to be close to this hotel. It's very nice, and the staff was great. The room was wonderful and had a microwave and refrigerator. They have fresh baked cookies at the reception counter and 24 hour coffee, tea, and hot chocolate. Would stay here again if we ever find ourselves in Eureka.

« Clean room, good breakfast »

We stayed here on our recent road trip. We had the two room suite, which has three queens. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable. We played in the pool a bit, it wasn't too crowded. Our objective was to visit the Northern CA. coast. Our grandsons, 8 yrs. and 12 yrs. were excited! We found the perfect hotel! Very clean and attractive inside and out! Excellent clean, comfortable bedding and beds! We all raved about the complimentary breakfasts! WONDERFUL! Large variety! Fresh and delicious! Great swimming pool for the boys. Hotel is situated perfectly for travelling up the highway to Trinidad Bay, Patrick's Point, Dry Lagoon, etc. We all had a great time! The boys are talking about the same trip next year and coming back here again! (*.*)

We enjoyed our 4 day stay at this hotel. The room was clean and the breakfast was better than most and stayed well stocked until the very end. The ladies that cleaned our room would fold our kids blankets and arrange their stuffed animals on the beds. We would stay here again without hesitation.

« Decent hotel in a not great strip of town »

The hotel is clean with a good level of basic amenities. We had a king room with separate living room. This is a good set up. Quite roomy and the sofa pulls out to a queen bed. Large bathroom area and good level of in-room storage. The employees are above average. They worked hard to solve any issues and be of assistance. There is a neat pool kids will enjoy and a small workout area. Parking can be a bit tight but there is enough. Skip the free breakfast and just spend a few bucks. The downside is the part of town. It is right on the freeway beside a relatively new mall. Other than the mall, everything else is run down with a lot of rundown people cruising the streets. Looks like a pretty serious problem with drinking and meth in this area. The downtown area is a better part of town. Near the hospital is a better place as well in terms of eating.

    « Highly recomment »

We stayed here for almost a week. It was our first time visiting the area and we would definitely recommend this BW. Our rooms were clean and quiet. The breakfasts had a wonderful variety and were delicious. Can't go wrong staying here. We'll definitely be back in the future.

    « Consistency »

I've been staying at this motel for a work trip every year for the past 10 years and it remains consistently clean and well maintained, complimentary breakfast offers many options and the breakfast area is kept clean and staff are welcoming. I will keep coming back.

« Best Western and best stay in Eureka »

This is one of the more expensive places in Eureka, but is one of the nicest without a doubt. I has earned it's plus rating with quiet rooms though the hotel was full, a fairly good breakfast spread and quick service when had questions. Will stay again.

    « Nice hotel »

The hotel is very nice and they give you a 10% off discount at the BBQ restaurant next door as well as Marie Callendar's. There is a beautiful Koi pond in the "adult area". The rooms are spacious. The breakfast is so so. The only issue I had is the area. There are several homeless people that hang out near by and try to get into the hotel. I also didn't like that they charged my credit card for the room a full week before we even arrived.

    « Great Hotel »

Checked in for 1 night with husband and 2 sons (25&22) while traveling the west coast. We got 2 queen beds on 3rd floor, per my request. Room was spacious, clean, and quiet. Breakfast had lots of variety and plenty of room to sit and eat. My only issue was the internet was down that night and next morning. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone traveling up or down Hwy 101.

    « A gem in Eureka! »

We were very pleased with the amenities and cleanliness of the hotel. It fit our needs as a family just right. The breakfast spread was quite extensive. We had a great night's sleep in a comfortable bed and quiet surroundings.

    « Awesome Rest »

We stayed in one of the garden suites with the king bed and the in-room jacuzzi after a week of touring Highway 1. It was quiet, good food was close by, and the jacuzzi was awesome after a week of hiking. We called the hotel direct and got a great rate. The view isn't the greatest, but the rest was sublime.

« Very clean, nice hotel »

Recently stayed for 3 nights while visiting Redwood National and State parks. The hotel was very clean and nicely appointed with a gorgeous courtyard garden. Breakfast was good with plenty of options. Room-wise, our accommodation was clean, roomy, and comfortable. We had a "bay view" room, but we mainly had a view of an industrial area and a restaurant. But, I suppose technical it is a bay view. The only other potential downside, depending on what you want, is that you have to drive to downtown Eureka for bars and dining. Having said that, there are plenty of chain restaurants choices within walking distance of the hotel (fast food, Marie Callander, a steak house), and the mall is across the street. Overall, we are very glad we stayed here and strongly recommend it.

    « Great hotel »

This hotel was very beautiful I was surprised and the rooms where Incredible. The bed was so comfortable -the pillows were a little on the small side but when you stack them their fine. The staff was very friendly which always helps. I would recommend this hotel to anyone

« Pet Friendly Easy Stop »

Friendly check in. Pet friendly. Good wifi. Spacious, clean rooms. Fridge and microwave. Free hot breakfast with eggs, waffles etc. Nothing fancy - just an easy stop on the 101N. Do not recommend the TBone restaurant in the parking lot even though you get a discount.

« Good hotel and good location »

Stayed here one night on our way to Yosemite, good location and amenities at the hotel. Rooms clean and tidy and suited our needs. Staff friendly and helpful, good breakfast to help us on our way. Would stay here again.

« I feel like I hit the jackpot here! »

Wow, this is just a great hotel! We had a patio room looking out to the water, and opened up to an amazing patio complete with a koi pond, biggest koi I ever saw! Very relaxing water falls too! But the room - very large, bed (king) so comfortable! Very nice sized bathroom area, 2 part sink and closet, then tub and toilet. Fireplace in room, flat screen, comfy chair. Coffee station with 6 varietiesin each section, (that also earns extra points) breakfast Buffett included. Promise you can't miss here!!

« GREAT PLACE IN EUREKA »

We stay in Eureka at least 4 times a year and we really liked staying at the Best Western. It was clean, quite and had an attractive large rooms. The breakfast was surprisingly good. I asked for special eggs and they were happy to make my wish come true.

    5
« Among the best if not the best hotel in Eureka »

CLEAN rooms, clean pool and hot tub, great selection of breakfast items more than just your continental breakfast. Friendly, professional, accommodating and helpful staff. Located at the end of the south side of 101 and only 3 min (driving) from downtown. Next to Eureka shopping mall.

    4
    « Deceptive appearance »

We partially selected this location because of website pictures. However, inner rooms and courtyard are restricted to children and pets. We were disappointed with the access. Also, there are no good pet areas outdoors.

    5
« Very well mainted, excellent staff, beautiful garden »

Where to begin? Check in was a breeze. The desk was very friendly and got us checked in extremely quick. We were informed our room was around back, with a bay view. We drove around back and unloaded our luggage. Entrance was made through one of three locked doors, opened with our room key card. We were greeted by a beautiful garden with a large koi pond. Near the entrance to the elevator on the first floor was kiosk loaded with coffee, hot water for tea, and pastries, all complementary. Also next to the elevator was a workout room, for those so inclined. When we got out of the elevator we were greeted by a view of the garden from the third floor. Our room was a couple of doors down. It was very large, had a flat screen TV, which we didn't use. We had a balcony with a view of the bay. In room coffee, hair dryer, flat screen TV, microwave and refrigerator. We had a king size bed that was very comfortable and the pillows were awesome. The electric fireplace provided an added ambience. In the morning, they serve a buffet style breakfast from 6am to 10am. It consists of scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, cold cereal, different breads for toasting, hot waffles with different toppings to choose from, several different coffees to choose from, juice, hot chocolate, hot tea and a specialty item. That item was french toast on one day and breakfast burritos on another. A Marie Callendar's was on site, and adjacent was Shamus T Bones, a steak and ribs place. Not all rooms have fireplaces, and some rooms have whirlpool bathtubs. The westernmost rooms have the best view of the bay and balconies. Also, the wonderful garden and koi pond is just outside the door. The frogs will serenade you to sleep. there is a hot tub located in the garden area, too! The inn also had a large indoor-outdoor pool, sauna and exercise rooms.

    4
« Awesome Koi pond and lovely surroundings »

All-in-all, the stay was very good. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are very well insulated from each other. The garden area is beautiful with a lovely Koi pond. There are rooms that over-look the bay, which is where we stayed. The bay is in the distance and the window overlooks the parking lot and restaurant. Not sure I would spend the extra money for the bay view next time, when the garden view would be just as pretty. The wing we were in was very quiet and we did not know until breakfast how many children were at the hotel. Very quiet. I would not hesitate to recommend or return.

    « BEST western »

I have found Best Westerns to be fairly predictable good stopovers on the road. This property, however, is the nicest Best Western I have stayed at. It is very well maintained, has a nice hot/pool area and the staff is very nice. Eureka seems to be struggling, but it has some nice shops and restaurants and this is a good stopover if you find yourself in town.

    4
    « NIce Place »

Very clean, nice breakfast, friendly staff. Water pressure in shower excellent. Pool small, but kids enjoyed it. chairs in room uncomfortable and bed too high and soft. Close to Humboldt Bay and the walk along it. Well worth the time. Do not use either of the restaurant adjacent; they are a waste of time and money.

    5
    « Excellent facility & staff »

The evening staff at check-in and throughout our stay was wonderful, helpful, efficient and very knowledgable about what to do in the area. The front desk had staff quickly deliver a chair with no arms for us to use with table in room. Got a nice room on the 3rd floor with 2 comfy beds and a fireplace.

    4
    « Best breakfast »

This Best Western has the best breakfast choices of several I have stayed with. Especially liked the various toppings for the typical waffles They also offer fresh scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy as well as the typical basics. Made it a great option, even though there is a discount for the adjacent Marie Callender's. The indoor/outdoor pool is is a fun experience for kids. I like that Best Western has some family suite options that make traveling with teenagers or older family members more enjoyable for everyone. Only suggestion.put the coffee maker in the common area and not in one of the bedrooms.

    5
« Best hotel of the road trip »

Stayed here with my family of 4 on our way up the coast. Rooms were big and clean. Staff was super friendly. Pool was heated and it was an indoor/outdoor pool. The garden area was beautiful and brought in hummingbirds that we watched while out by the pond. Breakfast was hot and filling. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    « Dog friendly but... »

You if have to stay in Eureka I would recommend this hotel (as there are not many that are dog friendly) however... Good- -Outstanding free, buffett breakfast with potatoes, eggs, breakfast sandwiches, egg burritos cereal, pastries, bacon, sausage, oatmeal, yogurt, waffles etc. This was the best, impressive breakfast we had on our entire trip! -We stayed in room #107 (dog friendly). It was very large, updated, room. It was very clean, had soft towels, fireplace, jacuzzi tub, and a kitchen and a comfortable king bed. -The hotel is next to the large mall with many stores (PetCo, Kohl's, Party City, Ulta, TJ Maxx, etc.). -The staff was friendly and helpful at the front desk, breakfast area, laundry service. -A nice dog friendly, patio restaurant (in old downtown Eureka is Jack's Seafood). Their patio is right on the bay. Clam chowder is to die for! Beware though, old downtown Eureka has many bums around the bay so be careful. Beware- -Although our room (#107) was a newer, pet friendly room it was at the end of the hotel hallway. The room is right next to the busy street that runs next to the mall. Every night and morning there are semi trucks parked along the street. Our view out of our window was semi trucks and a street. -Unlike other hotels there is not a pet friendly place to take your dog to go potty. We were told by the front desk staff we would need to take our dogs across the street into the mall area parking lot/dry grass area. Really? At 5am in the morning or late at night? This town is not very safe to begin with. -Pets AND kids are NOT allowed in the nice, garden, koi area. In fact there are no pet friendly rooms with a view of the garden. We were reminded many times by the front desk staff we were not allowed to take the dogs into the garden (yes, we understand the policy and saw the signs). They didn't want to scan our keys (to allow us access to the garden/adult hot tub area so we could use it). My husband had to finally tell them has a bad back and needed to use the adult hot tub. He was not taking the dogs in there. We understood the rules. They finally agreed end to scan his card to allow him access. It depends on what kind of hotel you want in Eureka. I can tell you Oregon is very dog friendly (hotels, restaurants, etc). We travel there often.

« Clean and modern hotel »

The garden rooms with a sea view are light and airy. The non garden rooms are dark and dingy. A modern hotel located about ten minutes drive from the old town and next to a shopping mall. A comfortable stop for one night.

    5
    « Fantastic service »

This hotel went above and beyond to make sure there was parking for the tour bus. They provided 5people to unload the bus and take luggage to the rooms. They did the opposite in the morning. Best service we have had. Meals were great. Rooms were top notch. I highly recommend this hotel.

    5
« Comfortable, clean, friendly staff and excellent complimentary breakfast »

Good location, just outside the main town, close to walk along the lagoon shore and Fort Humboldt State Park, which is 5 minutes walk, uphill, and well worth visit. We had a room overlooking the garden which was peaceful. Only negative was the cost of the guest laundry - other Best Westerns are much more reasonable. Complimentary breakfast was extensive, good quality, and was continuously refreshed.

« Eureka! We found a great hotel!! »

We have a larger family and this Best Western was well suited for a very comfortable stay for our family of teens, young adults and adults. The pool was great, the breakfast was nice too and the staff was very friendly and accommodating.

    « Must stay »

New building! There is an adult wing that is very quiet. Our room was very clean, really comfortable king bed, spacious rooms, great breakfast, reasonable rates, friendly staff and ...... Not a homeless shelter! What a plus! Highly recommend .

    « California Coast Trip »

This was one of our favorite hotels along our trip up the coast. It is right next to the beach and has a nice pedestrian bridge to view the ocean. Each room on the ground floor has a little patio with two chairs so you can sit and watch the waves roll in. They have several fire pits on a large patio at the back of the hotel. These were great after walking in the cold water. The room is very nice and clean.

    5
« Liked this Inn so much, chose to return on 2nd Trip »

With friends, we motorcycle tour various highways in Northern California. Regardless of which way we are going, Eureka seems to work out for one overnight stay. We once had a larger group, but now we are three. On a trip in 2015 and now 2016, June, we stayed at this inn. They gave us a family sweet which is three queen beds, perfect for three guys on a road trip. Great place to stay and restaurants are walking distance.

« Worth staying just for the breakfast! »

We stayed here while traveling on 101 up to Oregon. The hotel is right on 101 but the rooms are quiet. We stayed in the regular part and not the "garden" section. The front desk staff was welcoming and friendly when checking in. The king room we had was spacious, nice décor inside the room, bed was comfortable and the room was clean. The room came with a microwave and fridge that had an actual freezer so if you're traveling with an ice pack, that was very handy. Not all hotels that even have fridges have freezers with them. The Wi-Fi was very dependable. The breakfast runs from 6 to 10 so if you need to get on the road early, you can catch it before you leave, or if you're just on vacation, you have the option of sleeping in a bit. The breakfast is fantastic with a wide variety of fruit toppings for waffles, toppings for oatmeal, mini Denver omelets, various breads, eggs, yogurt, bacon and sausage, fruit. A similar breakfast at a restaurant would cost at least $10 to $15 per person.

    « Very attractive property »

Our room was in the "garden" section (which means that no kids or other pets were allowed). The noisiest beast in the area was a frog. The room was quite nice. The only concern I had was about the area in which breakfast was served. It seemed too small and not well designed for the large number of people who could stay at this hotel.

    5
« Nice Place To Stay »

This is a really nice hotel. Buckeye_Traveller summed it up real well. We had a room that accepts pets, but you would never know it. Everything was nice and clean. The breakfast was the best I've seen. It would rival the buffet at most restaurants. One thing that I found unhandy was not having soap by the sink. The shower has dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash, but to wash your hands at the sink you need to go to the shower and get the soap. Highly recommended.

    4
    « Pleasant night's stay »

Stayed one night during a Redwoods trip - easy, friendly check-in, modern room, with 2 restaurant options within walking distance AND with hotel discount. Fridge and microwave in room, odd to have a 2 queen room with a small table but only one chair (where did the other go?). Lots of hot options at breakfast, which was a plus.

    5
« business trips also family trips »

As always the rooms are very nice and clean. The security system for the facility is a 5 we always stay in the newer addition which is to the back side all guests must use a pass card to enter the area, it's very relaxing area matter fact it is shown on the picture above the hot tub and koi pond probably some of the largest I've ever seen then in the evening time you hear frogs that are very loud then all the sudden they stop I've asked employees if they're really frogs and they say yes but I find that a little hard to believe I think it's a recording because it doesn't so frequently but it doesn't matter it's a very nice and relaxing . The rooms come with fireplaces in the upper levels comfortable beds nice if you ask for the west side youll be able view the Humboldt Bay. The rooms are very quiet you not hear your neighbors. The only negative thing I have to say is we stayed in April and they already had increased their rates to their summer rates schools are not out for summer vacation yet in California or Oregon or Washington so I feel the rate should have still been in winter rates until May. I will continue to return, I enjoyed this hotel very much so but there is competition moving in down the street a brand new Holiday Inn that will be giving them competition. Some consideration in raising the rates so soon need to maybe rethink the time of the Season in reality in raising the rates. I believe I've been staying at this establishment probably for the last 5 plus years on and off anywhere from 2 to 3 times a year. I I believe I stayed before December again in April and then also this past week during this time December through June three separate times one was for one day going up to Oregon and then on one night on the return trip . I spent 3 nights with my wife in April when we live 2 hours North of San Francisco which is 3 hours south of Eureka but we would rather go to Eureka and spend time then drive down to the big city and spend time I believe the rate should be considered when you spend more than one night or two nights at the hotel and it shouldn't count if it's a weekend or weekday. The lates stay was only June 13 and 14th what is a graduation from the College of the Redwoods Police Academy. So in the next statement and ask what sort of trick is this for me I fit all those some of its business some of the couples stay some is going to see family friends or just to get out of town. So until the next time

    « Nicest Best Western »

My family and I stayed at the Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn in Eureka, California in June 2016. The hotel sits near the bay, and has parking in the front and back, with 3 restaurants adjacent. The hotel has a beautiful courtyard with a fish pond and creek. They also have a free coffee stand with snacks at the hotel building. At the separate lobby building out front, they have one of the best included breakfasts that I have ever had at a hotel, with a great staff maintaining it. The staff was very friendly to guests and each other. Our room looked in almost new condition, was clean and had queen beds, a flat screen TV, refrigerator/microwave, desk with a chair, plus a separate table and 2 chairs. The included internet was a good speed for what we needed. I did not see a swimming pool, but there was a nice sized jacuzzi in the courtyard area. Since we were not swimming, I did not ask about a pool. Other than that, I highly recommend this hotel if you are in the Eureka area.

    « Choose wisely 'grasshopper' »

Nice/modern hotel. However distinctly different room experiences. Some rooms have large view windows -- light and air. Other rooms are dark having only a small window looking at the exterior walkway. Choose wisely grasshopper.

« Top Hotel in Eureka »

Use the Best Western PLUS Bayshore Inn as your headquarters for your visit to the Redwood National State Park. Eureka is centrally located between the northern and southern potions of the park. You'll love the BW Bayshore...clean and comfortable.

« Nicer than I thought it would be »

This Best Western was clean, although dark and needs some updating. The staff was super nice and the breakfast was decent. We had the 3 bed room which was great for us. We were on the end, 1st floor. Again, this was perfect for us and my 86 year old grandmother traveling s us.

    4
« Great experience at Bayshore Inn »

The 2 bedroom suite was uncomfortable not having two bathrooms for 4 adults. Half way through our visit we switched to a King Suite. The King Suite with fireplace was fantastic. The accommodations were clean. Breakfast was great.

    5
    « Wonderful stay »

Very comfortable room. Super staff! We stayed in one of the Family Suite rooms so that our third person had her own room with her own TV. This location has the best breakfast that we had at ANY hotel ever! We were so happy with this hotel, which was the first one we stayed at on our vacation, we decided to stay here again on the last night of our vacation as we headed home.

« Good option for overnight stay »

We liked that it was just on the edge of the town, but we wouldn't recommend the town at all. The room comfortable and clean, and the price was reasonable. We were happy with the hotel, and we would recommend it as an overnight stay.

    « Road Trip »

Arrived June 1, was greeted by a very friendly and helpful hostess. We were booked in the back in the no kids or pet area which provided a peaceful setting along with a hot tub and large koi pond. The motel appeared to be only a few years old and was in great shape . The rooms were large enough with a king bed, desk, table with 2 chairs and a chair for relaxing in. What was eye catching was a coffee bar outside on the first level that had about 10 Air Pots with different coffees, doughnuts, yogurt for your taking along with serving a hot breakfast at the office. Another nice feature was our area was only accessible with a key/card from the outside. My only complaint is the frogs are noises by the koi pond at night, but I tuned them out. I would recommend this motel if your traveling to the area.

    5
    « Stay on roadtrip »

    « Great Vacation »

    « Average »

I would rank this average, nothing bad but nothing special. The breakfast was the usual stuff. Oatmeal was a little pasty, but fine. It was nice to have dried cranberries to add. Location was not ideal if you were going to the historic downtown. There isn't a light on Hwy 101 and getting out was a pain.

    4
« Nice pet friendly hotel »

My friend and I stayed at this hotel one night and found it a nice place. We had an accessible room and had a small dog with us. Room had plenty of space, clean - breakfast was same as the other Best Westerns we stayed at.

    « Vacationing Sisters »

I am from Texas. I stay at this hotel whenever I am in town. When I have all my Grandkids I stay up front. This time it was just me taking my Sister on a retirement trip through California. We stayed in the Garden area. The rooms are very spacious...comfy beds...very clean. The garden area is child free, quiet and we enjoyed the hot tub. We met several other happy travelers. As always the breakfast had a wide variety. It is nice that Marie Callendar's Restraunt will deliver room service; but we chose to go there for our evening pie. My sister and I are in our 60's and we felt pampered and safe throughout our whole stay.

    5
    « Great overall hotel »

We stayed one night on a road trip, so Bayshore Inn was one of many Best Westerns for us this trip. Of those it is right up there in the top 2 with overall best places of its type to stay. Location was perfect, check in fast, and room on top floor with a garden view. Employees all friendly and helpful. The garden includes a large koi pond with a bridge. When we got back after dinner all the frogs were singing! We could even hear them from inside our room for awhile, which we loved. Good variety of breakfast choices, food tasty, and lots of attractive areas to eat. An added nice touch were coffee, tea, juice and pastry stations outside off the main corridors. Room spacious, well-arranged and clean. We enjoyed our stay and definitely would return if up Eureka way again.

« The Finest in Best Western Hotels »

We have stayed at many hotels over the years. This was one of the finest Best Western hotels we have ever visited. Normally, I would not give 5 Stars, but this place earned them. The hotel was clean, quiet, and very well maintained. The breakfast was delicious. The staff was efficient and friendly. If you are passing through Eureka, this is the place to stay!

« No Electronic TV Guide, and a dark room »

This hotel is just fine, what you might expect of BW. But as is too often the case, there was no electronic TV Guide so one could not scan to see what was on the TV that evening / night. And since we didn't watch TV, we thought about reading, but the room ad so little light that was not a good option either.

« "Plus" doesn't even begin to describe this hotel!! »

This is one of the nicest hotels we've every spent a night at. The attention to detail is outstanding - from the extra luggage rack space, the 24 hour coffee (and even pastries in the morning) in the vending/elevator area, the upgrade to a bay view fireplace room in the garden section due to Best Western rewards status, to an indoor/outdoor pool that was warmer than the indoor pools we've been using. The garden area with a koi pond and outdoor spa was filled with green grass and flowers. Everything was spotless and all staff were friendly and helpful The breakfast was tasty, plentiful and served in a very nice setting.. There is a nice black top walking path along the bay easily accessible from the back of the hotel.

    5
    « Great service »

As always the best place to stay in the area. The back section is an escape from travelers facilitated by the friendly staff that strive to make your stay enjoyable. Whether it resturant ideas or fun conversations about the are you can't go wrong. I try to make it up there every month when possible and when I do I'm greeted like Norm from cheers. I stay alot and if more hotels had employees like Rachel and Carlee staying out of town would be more enjoyable.

    « Pacific Ocean »

Room was a little "tired' and needed some remodeling. Wife thought that the room was somewhat dirty. Slept with the windows open to get the ocean breeze at night. Wife was woken with what thought were dogs barking. Turned out to be Harbor Seals. Seen otters along with the seals

« Spacious rooms great breakfast »

I would have rated a 4 but they didn't clean our room for the multiple days we stayed and we had the sign they provided us on the door! So the was a huge disappointment vacation means not having to clean but! The breakfast was complimentary and had a ton of choices that tasted great! Comfy and clean room/beds and a big jetted tub which I loved! So overall I'd stay again because of the good qualities it did have.

    4
    « Good faciliities »

This was a clean and comfortable motel with a laundry room, which was very helpful for us as we on a road trip. No complaints about the room, which was clean and comfortable. There is a pool with hot tub which we didn't use. It is an easy walk into the old area of Eureka, which was interesting. Although we didn't use this service, the hotel offered to drive/collect guests from restaurants in the town.

« Wonderful stay during HSU graduation »

My husband chose this place on reading reviews. Spot on...comfy, nice large room, beautiful view of Koi pond. Breakfast is part of the deal, many choices, hot or cold. Staff were helpful. We Enjoyed our stay and would stay again if in the area and recommend to anyone... Check in and out were easy.

« Good room, comfortable, clean, good price. »

To be honest, we weren't expecting too much seeing it's location at quite a busy road. But to our surprise the room was recently updated. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and it looked out at the garden with pond. Very happy the road noise was none existent and we were able to keep the sliding door open for fresh air until very late. The only thing for us was the noise at night from the frogs(?) at the garden pond. The noise!! But that's nature.. And so we slept soundly with the sliding door close. If you're a very light sleeper i can imagine you'd might want a room as far away from the frogs as possible. Good breakfast, friendly staff.

    « Best in Eureka »

Hotel is clean, quiet, user friendly. Breakfast's are good, staff is helpful. Stayed here many times over the past couple of years. Best hotel for parents of HSU students. Prices can be testy, but I found it to be the most obvious place to stay in Eureka.

    « Good Stay »

I stayed here with my husband not too long ago. Good hotel - clean and comfortable. Beautiful koi pond! Easy to navigate. My only problem was one of the staff who walked around at night was loudly, and I mean loudly, talking about all the drugs he has and still takes to another staff member... That definitely made me feel a little uneasy about him being there. He looked around my age, probably in his mid-50's and appeared o.k when walking around, but getting a closer look at him made me think otherwise... Will stay again sometime in the future - the rest of the staff was very accommodating, just maybe hope they don't have any more staff members loudly proclaiming all the types of drugs they are taking when guests are around...

    « Outstanding »

This Hotel has always been the most comfort and clean. The Staff works in a Excellent Manner. Very clean and I have never seen anything that would make me not want to stay. The hotel is also in a very nice Area in Eureka. Walking distance to the Mall. A Steak Restaurant a block away, and a Coffee Shop on Premises. Very nice and Clean Pool and Hot Tub that you can also relax in. I highly recommend. Prices do go up in Summer Time, but the rest of the year is very reasonable

« Our stays over past 2 years »

Our grandson attended HSU we stayed here first trip and always went back over the last two years. Staff and cleaning staff very nice. Not real fancy but clean, quite grounds keep up and parked our cars there without worrying. Prices are reasonable (except graduation) but who care no one is gona miss graduation. It's a nice place.

    5
    « Impressed! »

We came up for my brother's graduation and I have to admit that I was a bit put out to pay over $300 for a room at a Best Western, but I have to admit I was really pleasantly surprised. It is a very nice hotel, with many thoughtful amenities in the room (complimentary bottled water, makeup remover, etc). The pool/spa is nice and very kid friendly. The staff is super helpful and polite. We arrived earlier than expected and they got our room ready in 30 minutes and let us check in early. As I said, it was graduation weekend for CSU Humboldt, so I think the rates were higher than normal. We travel quite a bit and I would honestly say it is as nice as many of the 3 star hotels we have stayed in. It's not the Ritz or the Four Seasons, but it's also not a regular Best Western.

« Average seems to be $150/ night »

Went here and learned some things. If a place is pet friendly and you don't have pets with you ask for a pet free room, it doesn't need as much disinfectant if the previous tenant was careless. Always check for a Costco discount if you're a member. Rooms in the back of this place are quiet with little traffic noise. Rooms are clean and beds comfortable. Staff is friendly and attentive. Downsides are paper cups for coffee. Plastic utensils and paper plates for breakfast. No wine openers in room .

    « Honeymoon »

excellent views, convenient location, nice amenities, good breakfast, friendly staff, comfortable beds. Nice courtyard/garden area. We were there on our honeymoon and spent our time exploring the Redwoods, this was a great home base for the many beautiful National and State Parks we came specifically to see.

    « Breakfast with Brian »

As with many hotel chains, a good breakfast is served between 6 and 9 AM. Being a business traveler, I often need to be out and on the road well before there is anything available to eat. This is never the case at the Bayshore inn. Although advertised as a 6- 9 am or possibly 10 am breakfast, I routinely grabbing a hot meal at 5:30 or before, and it is greatly appreciated. My thanks to Brian, the shift supervisor at the Bayshore Inn. Carl

    5
    « Worth the stay »

The price was a bit higher than what I expected, but the hotel staff were polite and professional, the room was very nice, and I had a good nights rest. There are two restaurants within walking distance that give discounts for staying, and the full breakfast was more than adequate. It is very likely I would stay here again if I find myself in the area in the future.

« Beauty by the Bay »

What a great Hotel. Convienient location at the South end of town. The courtyard was very nice and the frogs croaking in the pond was a nice touch. The restaurant next to the property was very good and friendly. I'll be back!

« Stayed 1 night and super pleased »

Making our way from Southern Cal to BC by way of the 101. Stayed here 1 night after reading TA reviews. My take: excellent value and CLEAN (I'm a hotel snob). Breakfast was full warm self serve and staff was very friendly. There is a Marie Callendars in parking lot that gives you a 20% discount if you eat there or also does room service! A plus after a long day exploring redwoods! Hotel has elevators and accepts pets! There is another Best Western a but further north of this one. We drove by it on our way out of town and it looked like the area was pretty sketchy. I was traveling alone w/teenage daughter and felt very safe at this location. I would not have at the other.

« Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn Eureka CA GREAT »

Very lovely well appointed clean rooms. Very quiet in rooms even busy roadside. Best breakfast so far found in any Best Western. Nice amenities: Sauna great, laundry helpful, fun pool! Great to have an elevator and rolling carts to transport luggage.

    5
    « Great Place »

The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms are nice, clean and spacious. Beautiful KOI pond. If you get a chance try Shamus behind the Inn. The Breakfast Buffet was very good and offered waffles. Across the street from the Bayshore Mall.

« Clean property and convenient »

I've stayed in a lot of Best Westerns but this was by far the newest and cleanest of them all. Convenient location. Very quiet. In the evening all I could hear were the frogs in the garden. Breakfast was great. This location has a lot to offer like omelets, bacon, sausage, waffles, Fr toast, cereal, bagels, juice etc. There are restaurants in front and behind the BW as well as a shopping mall next door.

« One of the better BWs. »

Great hot breakfast. Rooms with clean and luxurious bedding and appointment. Good television. Well sized bath. Fun garden area and koy pond. Nice walking path following bay shore behind our building. Adjacent to a shopping mall. Staff was great, especially Rachael.

« Still Good, but not Great »

This used to be our "go-to" motel when visiting family in Eureka, but it is no longer our "default" motel. Prices have risen greatly in the past 2 years, and the quality has not matched the increase in price. We have found that to be true overall with Best Western. We used to stay exclusively at Best Western, but now, for the price, we look elsewhere as well, and do comparative shopping for accommodations. It is still a good place, but no longer for us the best place. That being said, there is still a substantial breakfast included in the price of a room, usually very comfortable beds, although not this trip, regretfully. But it is a reliable brand, and I don't take that lightly.

    « GREAT hotel experience! »

I don't normally post reviews, but wanted all the travelers out there to know if you happen to need a hotel in Eureka, this is a really nice one and well worth the money. We stayed in the back "adults only" section with a 3rd floor balcony room and waterfront view. The room was exceptionally clean, really enjoyed the coffee bar by the pool and the staff were outstandingI will stay here again without a doubt.

    5
    « Excellent stay »

I loved my stay here. I got a quiet room on the third floor with an ocean view. The sleep quality was excellent and the room very clean and spacious. The breakfast was OK but nothing special. The spa pool looked nice although a bit crowded. The location next to the mall was good for me who needed to do some shopping.

    4
« Nice place to stay »

We had a first floor room right by the garden and koi pond, which were delightful. The room seemed dark, even with the lights on ... and the bathroom door that separated the toilet/tub area from the sink seemed to get in the way a lot. But the price was great, they had fresh cookies at check-in, and our rate included a hot full breakfast. Not far behind the hotel was a long walk that bordered the bay. If you take it, go during daylight since there are no lights.

    5
« Best Western Bayshore, Eureka »

Stayed in the garden view area, and always enjoy it there. Free snacks, coffee, newspaper etc., plus the added enjoyment of the garden environment with the koi pond. Very pleasant and relaxing. Well worth it. Breakfast leaves a little to be desired.

    « Customer Service »

From the minute I walked in the door Rachael greeted me. She made me feel like I was her most important customer of the day. She was fast and efficient with my registration. She suggested places to eat and see in the area. She is worth a MILLION DOLLARS in my book. She is the reason I will return someday to this hotel. If not to stay but maybe just to say hello and thank you for making this the most MEMORABLE stay of my entire vacation. You need to stay here if you want the type of hotel stay that can only be described as a perfect stay..

    « Careful with dogs »

We wanted to stay here as part of a family road trip with our dog, but when we arrived they told us they had no available pet friendly rooms despite our reservation. Probably a great hotel, but I would reconfirm your reservation. We were very lucky another hotel in town had a room for us.

    5
« Comforts right next to the mall »

Spend the night and shop till you drop. Centrally located to the mall and all kinds of restaurants in Eureka. The internet was very fast, rooms, very clean and check out is at noon, which I prefer. You can walk to the mall and all kinds of restaurants, no need to drive and park. The Eureka Health food is great for munchies in your room.

    « bike packing trip »

I stayed here one night while bicycling the ACA Pacific Coast route. It is a nice, clean, comfortable motel with a guest laundry (an essential for bike packing trips). The food at the adjacent Marie Calendars was not of the quality I remember from years back when the chain first formed; better offerings may be had elsewhere. Overall this is an excellent place to stay and reset for the next day of riding.

    5
« Great for the rate! »

I stay for several nights at a time about 4 times a year at this venue, and have never been disappointed. The rooms are always clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff is warm, professional and helpful. It's centrally located to surrounding towns where I do business, and not too long a drive to any. I'm not personally a fan of chain restaurants, but Marie Calendars is next door for those who are looking for something like that. WiFi is free and easily accessed.

« Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn, Eureka, Ca. »

Staff above and beyond outstanding. Friendly and so willing to help with anything. Hotel grounds impeccable. Room was so neat and clean. Looked recently remodeled. But wasn't. It was beautiful. Smelled fresh. Bed comfortable. Sheets and pillows soft. View was breathtaking. Over looking the Bay. I would definitely stay there again in a heartbeat.

« Top notch all the way. »

We stayed in the Garden Section last Sunday. Lovely rooms. Very clean and well appointed. Everything about the room and the property that we noticed was impeccable. We had a very restful, enjoyable stay for the night we were there. The breakfast was ample and tasty. There were pastries, juice, coffee and newspapers near our rooms. I really can't find anything negative to say. A big shout-out to Ashley who went above and beyond to assist us. Our son, who was recovering from shoulder surgery, was accommodated so that he could rest. I only wish that we could have stayed longer. There will be a next time, though! Thanks to the staff of Bayshore Plus.

    « Great room & garden »

had a deluxe room on second floor overlooking courtyard garden with Koi pool & hot tub. quiet, spacious, well equipped including Jacuzzi tub. the breakfast was well served in a comfy setting, view of the ocean from a private balcony was icing on the cake.

« Great Road Trip Hotel »

My boyfriend and I stayed here while passing through on a road trip from Seattle to San Francisco because it was a good stopping point. The hotel was clean, staff was nice, free breakfast was awesome with so many choices, free parking, quiet. Basically everything we needed.

    5
« The BEST Best Western »

This is the best hotel in the Eureka area. The rooms are nice and very clean. The property is eco-friendy. The breakfast is better than the local restaurants. Pets are welcome in some rooms... other rooms are pet free for those with allergies. I've stayed at higher ranked hotels that didn't offer half of the service of this property.

    3
« Just not the same »

We have stayed at the Bayshore BW several times & it just seems that the quality has gone down. If you step off the property there are numerous either homeless or vagrant people hanging around. Not a good area anymore.

    « Great stay! »

Our stay was actually April 2014, but we've been hoping to come back soon. Best hotel stay we've had (great place when setting the Redwoods). Comfortable beds, clean rooms and the best continental breakfast we've ever had. Didn't use the pool or hot tubs, but hope to next time. We've recommended this hotel to many and can't wait to come back!

    « Clean and Correct »

My stay was for one night, in our trip down South on 101. This is a good option with a newly renovated hotel, ample parking space and a honest breakfast included. We were assigned the non smoking, no pets and no kids wing, which is much more silent. The room is large (king) and a very ample bathroom. All very clean and crisp. The attendants at the reception were courteous and efficient. There is noise from the street due to the heavy trucks parking overnight on the side of the hotel. A good option for dinner is very close with the Shamus steakhouse. Texas style barbecue and very good.

    5
« Top of the line motel »

This place gets a five from me. Giving it five stars for the category of motels. It is pretty. We had the two room suites which was only $8 more that a king room. The pool was indoor/outdoor and the rooms were very nice and roomy. The breakfast was not your average continental breakfast dut a full on hot breakfast

    « Fantastic »

This is a great value and location. It is quiet, the staff is polite and the surrounding area has great options to eat, walk, shop...cant say enough great things about this location. I was in town to visit HSU with my daughter and was pleasantly surprised at how beautiful and clean everything is. I expected a bunch of pot smoking dreadlock hippies wearing nasty sandals and crusty feet...nope, I was way wrong this place is beautiful!

    3
« Ok not much better than a motel! »

I found this to be a motel with a few extras. The swimming pool was a welcome facility although quite small. Room was comfortable although quite dark. Free breakfast was a bit of a free for all and with plastic plates and cutlery it felt a bit cheap. Quite expensive for what it is at $95/night.

    4
« Excellent hotel in Eureka »

Loved the breakfast, friendliness of staff, homemade cookies upon check in and overall cleanliness and location of this hotel. We brought our pet and even our dog friendly room was very clean and well maintained.

    5
« Nicer than average motel »

We have been staying at different hotels during a 10 day trip to Oregon and the northern Cali Redwood parks. This hotel was under $100 but really has the quality of a nicer hotel. Room was updated, immaculate. Bathroom was deluxe. Fantastic breakfast buffet. This was the nicest hotel on our trip, way nicer than the price. Very convenient to the Humboldt redwoods and those to the north.

    « Great Customer Service »

This was a last minute reservation for my family during Spring Break, and the staff went above and beyond to be accommodating! Rooms were clean, nothing fancy, but good for the value! Breakfast was average, but a good plus when feeding a family, plenty of options to choose from. Great location across the street from the beach, with easy access.

    « Recommended Stay »

After traveling 10 hours, from northern Oregon, this hotel was a welcomed sight. We asked for a quiet room and were given the top floor, with our window looking out to a Koi Pond. The room was clean and quiet. The bed was great. We left before breakfast was served, and they gave us a "breakfast to go" bag....bottle of water, apple & granola bar. Very nice gesture.

« Great place to stay in Eureka »

Great place to stay. The complimentary breakfast is one of the best! 2 great restaurants within less than a block. I recommend staying in the back in the courtyard area. It's beautiful & quieter. Probably the best hotel in Eureka.

    « Wonderful Stay »

We stayed one night, on our trip back from Southern California. After the disgusting and loud hotel we stayed in the night before and the 10 hour drive we had just finished, this hotel was like heaven. It was beautiful inside and CLEAN. The staff honored our request for a top floor room and I was so thankful. We got to relax fully and get a full night's sleep. The breakfast was really good with lots of options (fresh fruit, waffles, oatmeal, eggs, sausage, pastries, etc.). I would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone thinking of staying here.

« Great place to stay! »

We were passing through Eureka on our way back to Southern Oregon and decided to take the coastal route home instead of Interstate 5. Eureka is definitely an out of the way place, and they don't have a lot of hotels to choose from, but this place did not disappoint. The front desk clerk was over the top friendly and knowledgeable, and so professional. I had booked my room over the phone not knowing anything about the hotel, and was very surprised at the comfort and convenience of the room. Everything looked very new, as if this hotel was recently built. We stayed in the king room with a Jacuzzi tub and a fireplace, plus it also had a kitchen with dishes and everything needed to cook a meal. My husband and son enjoyed the pool and they have a great continental breakfast in the morning with more food than I have ever seen at a hotel breakfast. Also, they give a 20% discount at the Marie Calendars restaurant next door if you show them your room key, so that was a nice bonus. Overall, I will definitely go back to this hotel if I am visiting or passing through Eureka!

    5
« Wonderful staff, consistent quality »

We stayed at this hotel for a total of 17 days during two visits, and found all the staff extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were very comfortable. Breakfast offers a good variety of hot and cold foods, and the quality was very good. This Best Western is our number one choice when staying in Eureka.

    2
« Full amenities, but not full access for families. Very disappointing stay. Won't return. »

We choose this more expensive option of Best Western of the other one in town, due to the pictures and review online. The price was considerable more at check in, but being the beginning of spring break we were tired and ready to relax after driving all day. The gentleman at checkin was very friendly and helpful. After that, the other staff was aloof. We took our very well behaved children to see the koi pond that was on the map only to be told to leave by staff. It seems that the rear buildings are for even higher paying guests that don't want to be bothered by kids or pets. I can completely respect that, bit wold have appreciated the notice beforehand. At check in, on the door entering the koi area, or even on the map would have been considerate. Instead the staff choose to offend us by asking us to leave the area. I would have rather my children not even have known that it was there than to be treated like they did something wrong. Be aware the the pictures presented online represent this "off limits" area. The hotel also did little to quiet the crazy man repeatedly yelling for "Becca" and pounding on doors at 3am. The only saving grace of the stay was the amazing staff at the Marie Calendars restaurant located in front of the hotel. The hotel breakfast was phenomenal. It's too bad the attitude of the staff at checkout did not match. Sometimes a simple acknowledgement and apology go along way. I've had much better service at less than the $225 this location charged. Definitely not a highlight of our family vacation. Very disappointed.

    « Eureka, CA »

Family vacation to the Redwoods. It was nice to have a room with 3 beds verses booking 2 rooms to accommodate family of 5. room was clean and I appreciated the complimentary body soap, shampoo and conditioner dispensers in the shower. We were disappointed the pool closed early and opened at 12- check out time. Breakfast had a variety of items: Eggs, Sausage, bacon cereal, yogurt etc.

« Great place and good value! »

Got there in the middle of the evening rush and excellent staff (esp Rachel) handled a line out the door and 2-3 phone calls in a very pro and expedient manner. Rooms were clean and well appointed. 20% discount at Marie Callender's (onsite) worked out well for us.

    « A high 4 »

We recently spent 5 nights on a road trip from Vancouver to San Francisco - we stayed here our second night and it was our best stay. The room was large and in good shape - it was clean and the breakfast was good. It is in a good area but no where too exciting.

« Very Busy Hotel but Comfortable bed »

Was in Eureka on business for two nights. Room was comfortable and the bed was terrific. The walls are kind of thin but everyone around me was quiet for the most part. Parking lot has a lot of activity late into the evening. Large Homeless problem in Eureka and there were panhandlers that ventured into the hotel parking lot. Restaurant adjacent to hotel (Marie Calendars) Full breakfast available at the hotel. Thanks for the nice stay.

    « Always a favorite »

The Bayshore Inn in Eureka is one of my favorite places to stay. The rooms are nice, the staff is helpful and friendly. Prices during peak season are a bit high, but it is a great overall experience. It is located very conveniently and is a very well maintained property. The breakfast is one of the best I have found in the Best Western chain. Shopping, entertainment, food, virtually everything you need is located with a very short distance, much of it within walking distance.

    « Great hotel! »

I stayed for neither business nor pleasure -- it was necessity. I live in Eureka, and a skunk got under my home and sprayed. Breathing in my house -- NOT AN OPTION! lol I arrived after a long day and felt like a big cloud of green stink. The ladies at check in were very pleasant and efficient, and got me to my room quickly. Cookies were available, and good. Your room key gets you a 20% discount at the Marie Calendars next to the hotel. While checking in, I noticed a security camera display of the parking area. The monitor was huge and it was easy to see activity on the screen. My room was in the Garden. You need to use your room key to access the garden area. That entire area is non smoking and non pet friendly. It is a large courtyard with hot tub and koi pond, and some of the largest koi I have ever seen. The entire area is extremely well maintained and landscaped, and very relaxing. There is even coffee, tea, and hot chocolate available, and in the morning, pastries and juice, and a newspapers. The stay includes breakfast, and the items are rotated daily. Mini omelettes, french toast, biscuits and gravy -- and the gravy is very tasty! -- and waffles and available every day, with blueberry, strawberry or apple toppings and whipped cream. I believe it was six different types of coffee that were available, and two types of juice. Other standard options are also available. The room was very well appointed, with the sink/dressing/closet area behind a separate door, and the bathroom a door inside of there. The entry light is on a dimmer switch, and the mini fridge and microwave are hidden inside the lower area of the television. And the bed was just what I needed. DEFINITELY a great place to stay.

    « BEST Western »

After travelling around the western USA for a few months, and staying in many different places, this is the best place we've stayed yet. The front desk staff was friendly and upgraded us to a larger room with a fireplace and ocean view. The room (and entire hotel) was spotless, had a very comfortable bed and a nice, large bathroom. The included breakfast was fresh and tasty, with lots of options. The free parking was convenient to our room and the wifi signal was strong. Stay here, you won't be disappointed.

    « Trip to Eureka »

This hotel is conveniently located near restaurants and shopping. Facility is very nice and rooms have plenty of room and are comfortable. Only negative was that there are not enough electrical outlets in the room for electronic devices, lights, etc., which is not unusual in hotels these days.

    4
« Staff Is Fantastic - Hotel Itself Is Over Crowded »

Stayed for 1 night Staff was exceptionally welcoming Rooms and beds are excellent comfort Parking was easy Amenties such as complimentary hot breakfast and pool/hot tub sounded like a great idea but never tried either, there was way too many people at any given time...it was truly overwhelming. So for the fact of not being able to take full advantage of amenties paid for in room-rate I do not see myself returning to this supremely comfortable hotel...strange I know but it was unbelievably crowded. We were thankful it was pet friendly, but it was over ran by screaming kids and not very well behaved barking dogs

    5
    « Clean, Comfortable & Courteous »

The room was spotlessly clean and the beds comfortable. The sheets weren't cheap/rough but nice for the price of the room. The staff is super friendly! I asked to change my room at check in (I was sick and switched to 2 queen beds rather than 1 king). The room had been freshly painted and the front desk employee took the time to go to the room to make sure it didn't smell like paint fumes. It was fine and I appreciated this extra gesture. I don't eat breakfast so I can't comment on that but there were a lot of options -- much nicer than the continental breakfast you would expect. It was packed so get there early if you are a breakfast person. I'm a total hotel snob, I've never stayed at a Best Western. I'd definitely stay here again.

    5
    « Spacious Corner Room »

This is my 2nd stay at this property in the last two weeks as I enjoyed the first very much. I love the BW whirlpool tubs and this corner rooms was even much more spacious than the last. Had a large wall bar area, fireplace, small balcony with sliding doors which looked out to an interior courtyard with hot tub and pond. Very quiet and comfortable. I would definitely only stay here when in Eureka-nice senior rate too! Also BW's are all so very spotlessly clean these days.

    3
    « So so »

The staff was amazing. They realized we had a ground floor room next to the pool (before we did) and moved us to the upper floors, away from potential noise. It was still noisy with people wandering up and down stairs, and even someone coming home drunk at 2am. But that is the nature of hotels on major highways with good amenities like indoor pools for kids and dog friendly rooms. Just so so. Though the staff was helpful. One more thing - sorry to be so critical about this but we did have a good laugh. The decor, paint, curtains, art work, was pretty awful. The outside and the inside must have been designed by different folks!

« Monthly Family Fix Trip »

Went up to visit daughter to get our "family fix" since she moved back to Eureka and we had the best stay. Room was wonderful. It was clean, wonderfully decorated and the breakfast bar was excellent. It had a wide selection and everything was fresh, especially the coffee. Staff could not of been more friendly and helpful. We even ran into a young man who works the night shift there that our children grew up with in school in Eureka. Thank you for such a memorable stay and since I know we will be back once a month for our family fix, we will definitely be staying here!

    « A good stay in Eureka »

The staff was exceptional. The facility was well kept, clean and up to date. The near bye dining opportunities were great. The view of the bay was nice. I would stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family.

« First Question .....PET FRIENDLY? YES!! »

We stayed here....because we could include our pet poodle, she's our family! You can only stay on the ground floor if you are travelling with a pet. Not my favorite, but we are used to getting the dog room. Very clean accommodation, decent size rooms, the next door room had heavy smokers, yes they were outside , but almost in front of our door. I had to close the door and windows....it was awful. Every time we stepped out they were smoking.....sorry but choked on their smoke. That's my only complaint about this nice hotel.....my suggestion....make a smoking area away from other paying guests or ban smoking from their property. All in all, would stay here again, on our return north. I hate being negative, but just relating our experience. Overall positive stay!

« Another great Best Western »

Top floor away from elevator. Great beds, dynamite breakfast...lots to choose from. Great staff. Nice hot tubs (2) and nice pool. Good deal. We have been traveling for several weeks and depending on tripadvisor for hotels. Good place with shopping right next door if you wish.

« Good hotel for family with kids »

I booked two rooms for myself and five kids/teenagers. Plenty of parking, although a little tight. Quick, pleasant check in. More pleasant because there were freshly baked chocolate chip cookies - yay! Our rooms weren't ready (check in time was 4 and we got there around 3:30), so we zipped to the beach to wait it out. I asked the front desk for recommendations for a good beach and they directed me to a wonderfully private, easy to reach beach in Samoa. Location was great. Near decent restaurants, the mall, etc. The teenagers loved it. The rooms were spacious. The beds were very comfortable, the view out to the small koi pond was fine, they had good coffee, a microwave, mini-fridge, good quality products - lotion, soap, etc. All the basics but very nice. The breakfast was served from 6-10 and was very good. Tons of choices for all of us - eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, toast, waffles, yogurt, juices, coffees, cereals, etc. I definitely will stay here again.

    « Great Hotel »

Great time and very clean hotel with room service from Marie Calendars next door and discount cards for the local Samoa Cook house and a hot breakfast in the morning to wake up to. We will be returning again really soon. I will recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

    « Great Getaway »

We came to Eureka to look at Humboldt State University and the surrounding area. The hotel and grounds were clean/well-kept. The staff was friendly and professional. They were extremely helpful. The breakfasts were delicious and well stocked. We were there on a holiday weekend and even though the hotel was packed, it was still reasonably quiet. I would definitely stay here again.

« Welcoming and Relaxing Stay »

We stayed twice at the Bayshore Inn on our road trip down the West Coast - once going down and then coming back home. Both times we found our room to be comfortable and the staff welcoming. The breakfast selection was excellent and the cookies in the lobby in the evening are addictive. Would highly recommend the hotel for a variety of types of travel.

« Fantastic facilities at good price »

We stayed there several times in the last two years. Everything is great, spacious rooms, cleanliness and good customer services. Facilities are fantastic : two 24-hr gym rooms, two guest laundry rooms, pool and hot tubs. You can even get great deals if you visit at off-season.

« Best hotel in Eureka »

We enjoyed everything about this hotel, one of the best that we have stayed at. Check in and check out were easy. The breakfast is wonderful and plenty of room. Complementary newspapers are good. Great location next to the mall and easy access to travel north and south on 101. We have stayed here previously and will undoubtedly stay here again in the future.

« Perfectly fine place to stay »

A decent, pet friendly place isn't always easy to find. On our annual trip south, we overnighted in Eureka. This hotel was clean and comfortable with secure parking for our loaded vehicle. Our dog was welcome. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Morning breakfast was varied and nicely laid out. The hotel was busy. No surprise as it's a good choice to spend the night.

    2
    « loud room »

Stayed in this hotel didn't sleep because of loud banging noise in room # 225. It was clean and nice, however, sleep trumps it all at the end of the day. The hotel is at the beginning of town so you do have to drive into town for other venues. There is a Marie Calendars and an expensive steak house behind the hotel.

    5
    « Great stay »

This hotel is located in a great area of town, close to shopping, close to food and gas. Its always clean inside and out. Staff is always very friendly and helpful. You get a 20% discount at Marie Callanders and 10% on the steakhouse behind the hotel. Historic Fort Humboldt is located within walking distance if you're interested in history.

« Stay at Best Western Bayshore Inn Eureka »

The Bayshore is the best place to stay in Eureka, we enjoyed our over night stay and will be sure to stay there on future trips. The Bayshore is great location in Eureka and close to eveything you would need.

    « Excellent Choice »

The Bayshore Inn is a very nice Best Western hotel. The quality of the rooms is very high and they are nice sized rooms. The staff is attentive and professional. Definitely an excellent choice. One of my favorite stops!

    « HOTEL STAY »

Overall, my experience at the Eureka Inn was very good! However, they could very well improve on their "WAKE UP CALL POLICY" as they forgot to call me when I requested specifically they do so! Too bad!

    « Bestest of Best »

Well run hotel chain at least for Best Western Plus hotels. Very clean with good amenities for the price. Nice breakfast which is free, although they need to get rid of the pork and serve turkey, so everyone can have a hot breakfast free.

« Excellent Best Western Hotel »

Terrific hotel with a variety of rooms available. Grounds are immaculate and the garden area is complete with huge koi fish in the pond. Room was a Jacuzzi suite with both the Jacuzzi and a fireplace. Beds was perfect and extremely comfortable.. The only reason for the 4 rating is I was unable to use the fitness facilities due key problems. After twice getting the key, I gave up due ran out of time.

    « good stopover place »

bit of a stuff up with checking in as the assigned room hadn't been cleaned but quickly sorted out by helpful front desks staff - rooms clean, good size and well equipped - large property but pretty quiet and far enough off main road

« Best Western PLUS Bayshore Inn, Eureka, CALIFORNIA »

Excellent value and comfort. No road noise and very close to the Eureka Bay Shore Mall. This Best Western had one of the best breakfasts for a Best Western. It also has a Marie Calendar Restaurant located right on the property and if you are staying at the Best Western you get a 20% food discount.

« Probably the best place to stay in Eureka »

We have stayed in several other chain motels/hotels in Eureka over the years, one was even highly rated by AAA. All of them were grossly outdated, musty smelling, and some of their non-smoking rooms stank of cigarette smoke. Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn, is by far the nicest place we have ever stayed while in Eureka. The rooms are modern, updated, well maintained and very clean. The complimentary breakfast was tasty and well stocked. If you drive a large full size car, SUV or pickup you will find parking challenging, but manageable. Keep in mind this is Eureka, not San Francisco and the Best Western Plus Bayshore Inn is a motel/hotel and not the Westin (the likes of which you will not find in Eureka), but it is by far the best place to stay in town. We highly recommend it and will be staying there again the next time we are in town.

    5
    « Nice Economical Hotel »

Easy check in, clean modern room, everything worked, WiFi was fast and reliable, staff were helpful. Hotel is just up the street from a supermarket. This is a well-run example of a Best Western, i.e., a nothing fancy, relatively low cost motel, but without the negative features one can expect in cheaper places.

    « My review »

My son and I, loved this motel except for the fact the spa, pool area and breakfast closed to early for us to enjoy and I had trouble getting into bed the first night because of my shortness. We enjoyed the fact our beloved lab could join us and it would be nice to have a larger place to potty them. Otherwise, we were very satisfied.

    « Excellent Property »

Stayed over New Year's and loved it. Room was spacious and clean, front desk staff very friendly and the free full breakfast was yummy and plentiful with plenty of tables for groups small and large to eat. A lot of parking is available. In room free Wi-fi was excellent, always working. Marie Callenders even delivers though they are located on the property.

    4
« Convenient to what we needed..... although the walk to the Bay was interesting.... »

A good serviceable hotel. We stayed for 3 days while visiting the tall trees in the area. The rooms were clean and well kept. The breakfast (free) was good. The only problem with the hotel is there is a homeless encampment near the bay so that made walking on the paths down there interesting.... not bad but a little odd.... and they sometimes tried to help themselves to breakfast....

    5
« Nice stop in Eureka »

Very comfortable hotel with a beautiful private garden area. Good location for the Eureka area and all the natural wonder northern California has to offer. If you are willing to explore a little you will find a nice little park on the bay just a few steps from the hotel, it's a great place to watch the sun set if there isn't fog or enjoy the fog if there is.

    « good visit »

comfortable, close to eateries, Marie Callenders next store and got a 20% discount for staying at hotel.plenty of parking for not only a car but I had a 26 foot truck and was pleased with parking on street.

« Large comfortable rooms at a great price »

Easy to locate when coming in on 101 from the south. Out of the main town but no bad thing in night time eureka considering the large number of homeless people who aren't shy at night! Very welcoming and efficient desk. Rooms very comfortable and of a good size. Free tv and wifi. Breakfast excellent. Two restaurants within touching distance. Lots of free parking. Recommended all round.

« Great place to stay »

Very helpful front desk who helped me with a room booked through Hotels.com. Required a phone call to the owner but all worked out for myself and my pet. Room was very clean and bright and cheerful. A real pleasure to land here after a long day on the road. Extra special soap & body wash, shampoo at this BW. Makes a hot bath or shower feel great! Decent amount of towels which were better than average thickness and actually white. Breakfast was well laid out, with lots of options. For their Dog Friendly option, they do give you a Baggie and some treats. However there is really no place to walk-only across the road a a strip mall. Not a problem for my dog as I came prepared with a roll of bags... but I'm surprised the mall owner allows this to continue. Generally a quiet hotel, although the walls are not sound insulated. I could hear the lady in the next room at night with her smoker's cough-woke me up. Next time I would wear ear plugs & suggest others consider doing so. Seems a good value for the money.

« Great place to stay »

I have been here a few times. I will definitely always come back to this hotel when I am on the coast. It is clean, very neat grounds, and beautiful décor. The staff is very friendly, and helpful. I love that they have a whole section that is private no kids no pets. It's super nice for a couple on a romantic trip.

« Hotel Snob that ??Eureka's Best Western »

Decided to stay here on our way home to Marin from Oregon. The hotel advertised "in room jacuzzi" which sounded great to our old creaking backs. We were met by two friendly young ladies at the front desk who were very helpful and quick to get us checked in. The grounds were very pretty and clean with a Koi pond in the center of the hotel. The biggest surprise was the size of the room and the in room jacuzzi. It was huge! I could've done 3 cartwheels (ok, maybe not me but someone could!) across the room and there was enough room for two in the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was also set up in the corner of the room so you had plenty of room without drenching everything in sight. There was a nice electric fireplace in the room also which was a nice little touch. Another nice convenience was having Marie Calendar"s basically in the same front parking lot and Shamus T Bones directly behind the back parking lot. I'll have to write a separate review for Shamus' but I will say it was an excellent dinner with a very friendly wait staff! Best Westerns may not be known for being a "luxury" or "romantic" hotel chain but I have stayed Luxury hotels that came up far shorter than this Best Western. I'll be the first to admit, I may have been a little judgmental (snobby) when it came to Best Westerns in the past but that is a mistake I am willing to admit and correct!

« Good base for exploring the area »

Stayed here for 2 nights and proved a good choice. Decent size room, clean and well kept. Good breakfast and local restaurants or just a short drive into town for bigger choice. Staff were good as well. Must do is the bayside trail from the end of the road.

    5
« Well maintained, clean, friendly staff »

Our room had 2 Queen size beds and still felt spacious. We requested a room close to an elevator and our request was honored. We also had a view of the beautiful koi pond. I was expecting a cold continental type breakfast in the morning , and that is so far from the truth !! This hotel does a very nice hot buffet breakfast , bacon, eggs, the works ....and if you are running on the late end to breakfast , they still put out fresh hot food, they don't stop cooking 30 minutes before breakfast ends like many places.

    5
« Very solid motel -- breakfast was excellent »

Great-looking buildings, well-maintained. Excellent pool (1/2 indoor 1/2 outdoor), and many different breakfast choices. Staff was friendly, location in Eureka very convenient. All in all, a great stay

    2
    « Disappointed »

Room had two beds -- cramped, dark, very small work table, no soft chairs. Lobby only for check in and out -- not available to guests for watching TV, fire, reading, conversing with others. Very clean and staff extraordinarily friendly and helpful, physical plant not up to expected standards

    5
    « Clean »

Staff was very helpful at all times of the day and night. The hotel was clean and the room was very clean and updated. The Breakfast was Awesome, they have gluten-free items on request. The neighborhood had a few homeless hanging around but I never once seen them enter the grounds.

    5
« Visiting the Redwood Country »

Well located. Good service. Adequate amenities since the purpose of the trip was to visit the Redwood Forests and only sleep in the hotel. Very good steak restaurant walking distance. Close to downtown and on US 101. Too many politically correct instructions all over the hotel and rooms, but I suppose that is California. NO Pets are allowed....not pet friendly.

    5
    « Best Breakfast »

We have stayed at many Best Western's, And not only are all aspects of the stay are excellent, but this is by far the best breakfast of any. They actually cook most of the food in their kitchen, not just heat it up. We prefer to eat there than going out to a restaurant.

    « Pleasant Stay »

Arrive late, tired & hungry. Ate next door. All was good. Nice room, soft bed, clean bathroom. Breakfast has several options. No need to go away hungry. All I needed for a very nice stay. The front desk personnel were very helpful in giving directions towards my next stop.

« Best Western in Eureka »

The Best Western in Eureka is a nice, new hotel. The rooms were very clean. It is located really close to Humboldt Bay and the Bayside Mall but there are lots of homeless folks in the area, especially along the bay shore trail.

    « So surprised! »

We were traveling with our dog and had stayed in so-so hotels up to our arrival in Eureka. This hotel looks like every other Best Western upon approach, but all those same olds flew out the window upon entering the lobby. The front desk staff greeted us warmly, with big smiles and good cheer. We asked about the pet friendly rooms available to us, and we were offered an escorted tour of 3 different rooms and locations, wow, thank you! Our room was huge, clean, not overly disinfected and beautiful. Really so impressed. The location was right off the main road, but was quiet and beautifully landscaped. Short walk to the water and great path to walk the dog or bike a distance. Pool, spa, sauna and workout room available. Breakfast was so good, lots of choices and well stocked, two rooms to sit down, so no mass of people stuffed into a small space. Shamus-T-Bones, a BBQ restaurant just down the block offered 10% off with your room key, and it was good eating. Marie Callander's offered 20%. This was one of the best hotels I have stayed in, I highly recommend this property.

    5
« Very nice hotel. Too bad we only stayed 1 night »

Stayed 1 night after an 8-hour drive up the coast from Oakland. We were hungry and tired when we arrived. The hotel room was nice and large, clean, comfortable. There is an elevator and that was very nice (get tired of carrying the suitcase up the stairs) We did not have any view from the room, but we were leaving early in the morning, so I did not check into other available rooms with a view of the bay. The hotel staff were helpful and friendly. There were a couple restaurants within a very short walking distance. Would happily stay here again.

    5
    « Work »

If I have to stay away from home when I travel for work, there is no better place than this. The staff makes me feel like this is my home away from home. Thank you Best Western for taking such great care of me!

    5
« The service is great »

I stay here often for work and it never fails the service always give me the green light to come back and stay again. The superstar of the property is Rachel A. And she believes in friendly customer service. Her coworkers in the evening are great and they are always helpful and cracking me up with humor. What a great place to stay especially in the back section if you are traveling on business and you need a quiet place to rest and recharge. I come here for work every month but I have plans to come here on vacation soon. Good job bayshore bravo!

    « Nice well-kept hotel »

After spending a day driving through the redwoods and the Avenue of the Giants we decided to stay in Eureka. We stopped at the Best Western Inn cuz it was the first inviting looking hotel coming in from the south. The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating nice big clean rooms comfortable beds good breakfast easy access good location

    4
« We always enjoy staying at Best Western Plus locations and this was no exception »

Our room was large, modern, and very clean with a king size bed and a fireplace. We stayed in the quiet section set aside for adults- with no children- and it was very peaceful. The complimentary breakfast buffet had a full selection of hot and cold items: yogurts and cereals to waffles and egg casseroles with breakfast meats. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again if we ever travel back to the Eureka area. The hotel grounds seemed safe enough, but the area is known to have a large homeless community nearby so I would not recommend an evening stroll outside the hotel property. All in all, a very nice place to stay at a reasonable price.

    5
« This is 5-stars for the price »

A very nice property, especially for the price. Well-located with lots of room and a great breakfast area. Gym is surprisingly nice, too (though the ventilation needed to be better). Pool area is especially swanky. Internet worked well; room had great water pressure; comfy bed; decent parking.

    « Overall, a good stay »

We stayed here for 2 nights on a road trip & had a king, non-smoking room on the 3rd floor of the original building. Breakfast has plenty of options to fill your stomach for a busy day of sightseeing. This was one of the quietest accommodations we're ever experienced while traveling, even though we were next to the elevator. Everyone was cordial & check in/out was efficient. Two concerns: 1.) water in the indoor/outdoor pool was so cold I couldn't use it & 2.) access to the courtyard with its koi pond & hot tub was not available because we didn't stay in the new building with its apparently higher room rates. This isn't clearly stated on their website & I think it's unreasonable to charge more for that. Will probably try the other BW in Eureka next time.

    « Pleasant Surpirse »

This hotel was fantastic the room we had was excellent. We had free parking and breakfast was included. Staff we very friendly and accommodating. We were given discounts at neighbouring restaurants. If I lived near here I would definitely come back.

    « Outstanding Eureka hotel »

Well kept property, super clean with very good customer service from the staff. Room was large. clean and well appointed. Hotel surrounds a pleasant courtyard, a coffee bar was located near the elevator saving me a trip to get more coffee. Overall a very pleasant stay and would recommend to others.

« cant wait ti come back »

We were there on a much needed weekend getaway with some ladies from the church. This hotel was clean, friendly, efficient, so very nice. If I ever needed to stay in Eureka again there is no question that we would be staying at the Bayshore Inn.

Enjoyed accessibility to a ground floor dog friendly room off the parking lot. Easy to access hotel from highway. Comfortable room with dog. Breakfast options good at hotel. Nearby grass areas to walk dog.

« This hotel does it right!!! »

If you need pampering after a long drive, this is the place to go! The staff was friendly and very helpful, the location is good, the rooms are large, mine even had a fireplace, bar and Jacuzzi! The view of the bay is limited but the garden area and koi pond are beautiful and well kept up. Breakfast was very good. I loved the coffee, juice and pastries located by the elevators -- what a fabulous and convenient idea! This hotel should give lessons to other hotels on how to pamper their guests! I highly recommend it!

« Great Place to stay »

I have nothing negative to say. I rated this hotel an excellent in every category. A view of the bay, private balcony, and a fireplace in the clean, modern, room makes it perfectly cozy. Free coffee (really good coffee) in multiple locations. Free hot breakfast. The general manager came to my rescue when I discovered I had left my car keys in the local restaurant the night before. She had my keys back in my hand in 20 min. I am so grateful for her help.

« Good place to stop »

Nice place to stop. Quiet. I got there really late when it was dark, it's kind of in a sketchy part of town. Normally I don't like outdoor entrance places, but I felt safe, it was quiet. They upgraded my room. I'd stay there again.

    3
« You can't see the bay from the Bayshore! »

The friendly staff make this place. Check in was great. The room was very nice and it was super clean. Breakfast was good but crowded. Move this hotel to a better location and it goes to a 4+ rating in a heartbeat. This was a great place for a quick stay on a redwoods trip. Security wise it needs better neighbors....

« Great Hotel in Eureka »

We got back from a 4 night trip to Eureka to see the sights. I highly recommend this place. Be aware there are two different Best Westerns in Eureka and this is the one I would recommend. The other one didn't look as nice. Pluses: Good room rates Spotlessly clean rooms Good (fast) wifi Extensive breakfast selections Free local paper and USA Today Great walking trail behind the hotel Next to shopping mall and restaurants Excellent shower Friendly staff Very quiet Minuses Bed too soft for my taste Room cleaned at 5 p.m. (when we got back from sightseeing the maid was cleaning our room) From what I saw, this appears to be one of the nicest hotels in Eureka.

« Nice and not so nice »

The motel was a nice one and the location was great, but there was sketchy moments at times. We were doing a mini PCH road trip and eureka was a stopping point for a night in late September. we were on the third floor corner room kinda far from the elevator with bags but close to the stairs and pool. When we check in and get to our non smoking room, a man was squatting smoking at the top of stairs which was close to our room. After dropping our stuff we decided to go to the mall and he was gone. We left to the mall (where my husband witnessed a shoplifting incident) maybe less than an hour and went back to our room and the guy was there again. Kinda made us not want to venture out again. The breakfast was nice and the room was clean. Unsure if we will be visiting eureka again, but if we did, it's possible we would stay again.

« Loved the pool room! »

Always get a hotel with free breakfast! My kids loved it. Waffles with strawberry sauce and fruit. We enjoyed a morning walk to the bay. Next door to Marie Calendars. Koi in the pond. Great jacuzzi/ pool room with lovely hanging ferns.

« Good for overnight stay »

Stayed overnight on our way from Portland to the coast. We arrived at approximately 9.30pm on a Sunday evening, tired and hungry. Check in was straightforward. Staff were helpful and friendly. Room was OK for an overnight stay. We'd booked a room with two beds and rollaway and I have to say the rollaway was very comfortable once we'd set it up. A bit of a tight squeeze for the three of us (three mature ladies) and our luggage but fine for just the one night. The restaurant/bar was due to close at 9.30 but the manager very kindly stayed open for us (we were very hungry!). Location was really good - easy access to the 101 but nothing much else in the local area. Breakfast was served in a separate room which wasn't too busy and there was a good choice of the usual items.

« Great place to stay »

I can only say good things about this hotel. There were absolutely NO problems. Check in was a swift friendly experience. Everything needed was in the room. The beds were heavenly. Breakfast was full, complete, and delicious. Check out was a breeze. Extremely nice people running the operation.

    « I love this hotel »

The Best Western Bayshore hotel is a wonderful hotel. I was really surprised. This hotel has a beautiful layout. It is spacious with good parking. It has beautiful landscaping and a large Koi pond. There are two pools, one is a beautiful indoor pool and spa. The rooms are large and have new furnishings. The bed was comfortable and the room also has an electric fireplace that was a nice touch. The hotel is located between two nice restaurants and a mall is within walking distance. There is free breakfast in the lobby but I chose a free Continental breakfast that was offered in my section of the hotel. This hotel just does everything right and I definitely be back!

« Wow! This is a great place! »

We wish we could have stayed longer! Nicest place we have stayed in a while. Cookies and hot chocolate/tea/coffee at check-in. Comfortable beds. Very clean. The breakfast had a ton of options including bacon, eggs, waffles, sausage, bagels, toast, cereal, fruit, biscuits and gravy. They had it all! We wished we'd had time to swim - the pool was half indoors and half outdoors.
