"Perfect location and service for downtown Ensenada"
karinfiddles, 26 Juin 2023

We stay here at least twice a year for our sport fishing trips with Sergios. Best prices, their massage therapists are phenomenal, service is so great, and it's in the middle of all the fun when you are ready to hit the town for the night.

"Clean, safe hotel in SUPERB location"
Rafa672, 31 Mai 2023

Stayed here many times. Overall, a great experience except for one man and the wifi. Gym is great. Tea selection is excellent. Excellent location too with ample parking. Staff were friendly and amazing- notably front desk young man Sebastian and short, healthy, hairy man that is middle aged. However sorry to share this but I have to, the one front desk man, Eduardo, was a red flag and rude. Even other co employees seemed disgruntled with him. I have always loved Mexico's people and warmth, except for this one man sadly who severely dragged the "service" score down. Eduardo was always very GRUMPY, always on his cellphone, and borderline rude. And these were encounters with him in separate days and shifts. He doesnt seem to be fit in the service and hospitality industry with a bad attitude like that. For example, he frowns when you ask something like "where's the other frappe coffee maker", he'd say "Hmmm!?" with a low, condescending tone. Check in was troublesome too as it took 20 mins. He insisted I had 3 reserved rooms, whereas I only had two since the other room was cancelled on Expedia. Terrible! He may excel at working at solo jobs with minimal human interaction. Eduardo seemed annoyed whenever you'd talk to him or even just greet him "Buenos Dias". He's that bad. He needs to be audited by a "mystery shopper". We're usually very forgiving and understanding cause he may have had a bad day or a big problem but he needs to leave these outside the door in the hospitality industry. His rudeness and stoicism have happened in many instances. You'd definitely lose customers and co-workers with such a ghastly attitude.:( Wifi is terribly slow at 3-4 MBPS, auto disconnects at night.:(

"Nice hotel, centrally located in the tourist district"
EdBavo, 02 Mai 2023

Everything was clean, room was good size, location makes it easy to walk to shops and restaurants. Although it'[s obviously an older hotel, everything worked, friendly staff, room service was quick to respond.

"Everything I needed & more!"
Jones2Travel, 25 Décembre 2022

Friendly bilingual staff, clean room, comfortable bed, but it's also in the best area for walking, eating and shopping, access to transportation, tours and the malecon are just a stroll away. I really wish I could have stayed another week or two!

"Horrible Owner and Management"
787brianaz, 06 Octobre 2022

The rooms were fine, a bit dated. Our biggest issue is the owner and the parking situation. The owner scratched our vehicle with his motorcycle and refuses to accept responsibility. His staff acted like they did not know the owner of the motorcycle until we involved police. Then it was revealed that the owner of the hotel is also the owner of the motorcycle that scratched up the entire passenger side of our car. The owner refused to come down from wherever he was hiding to speak to us or the police. We filed a police report and got access to cameras but yet the owner does not care. The worst part is, we were directed by employees to park by the motorcycle, therefore they should assume full responsibility. Since we are from out of town there is nothing we can do. DO NOT park in their parking lot. I will NEVER stay in this hotel ever again. Horrible management and employees that cover for their boss.

"Fantastic"
anaquezada60, 08 Septembre 2022

This hotel was definitely one I will be coming back to every single time I'm back in town. The staff was amazing always attending quickly for any needs or questions. Perfect location. And the restaurant down stairs was delicious as well.

"Very happy and satisfied"
lamonique33, 24 Décembre 2021

Satisfied and will reserve same hotel thank you love it so much service was awesome staff was good very clean was very comfortable but parking was to crowded the spaces are to small that was the only thing I didn't like but over all it was a nice stay

"Disappointed"
raulvR8243HZ, 23 Août 2021

When we arrived the clerk was very rude, we arrived at the hotel at 2:45 and we could not enter the room until 3 p.m. sharp. I had forgotten my wallet and had paid in advance and I had copies of my driver's license and passport on my phone, he would not accept this, and I had my vehicle registration as well, extremely rude. When we checked out they tried to charge us for water battles which were NEVER provided, we had to go buy water to drink outside the hotel. I cannot believe that they charge any money for drinking water for the rates they charge. They don't provide coffee either as tif this was a huge expense for them. Water and coffee are items generally provided by good hotels in every city and country I have ever traveled to. I would never recommend nor stay at this hotel ever again.

"Clean, convenient , Friendly, Good Price"
voyagerrosales, 17 Juillet 2021

Very friendly staff, room was very clean, shower & toilet like any other Five star hotel. Very convenient location right at the Riviera . Got a room with two large queens facing the Pool , I stay here before (best rooms are in the second floor 200 roll ) the Only thing the suck is the Internet Other than that, I give them a 4 1/2 Star . Note ; No elevator at the location.

"Great location"
astridesparza3, 01 Juillet 2021

The staff was friendly and attentive. The room exceeded our expectations and we had a great view plus easy access to the patio and pool. The room was clean and the location was very convenient as it is in the tourist area. My only complaint is the parking, as it is very hard for large cars to park there. Will definitely book this hotel again next time I'm in Ensenada

"Always been the best hotel in Ensenada."
Amadeus626, 02 Janvier 2021

Simply put, the best place to stay in Ensenada. The decor is fantastic. The rooms have a rustic feel to them but are actually very clean and well taken care of. It is centrally located on the Main Street. We loved having a balcony overlooking the street with views of the port. Great hotel and great value.

"Don't waste your money here!"
7ceciliab, 04 Août 2020

Dump nothing works in room. cold showers, horrible "jacuzzi", total dump. really disappointed. Didn't reserve room ahead as we wanted to confirm there was ample & secure parking for our atvs and trailer. As soon as we confirmed every site online had "no rooms available" that should have been my 1st clue since they were almost empty. The second I told them about my online search ALL sites (expedia. booking and hotels.com were no longer available) We got 2 rooms. One for me and hubby the other for family members. Got the jacuzzi room with a king. Towel bar in bath immediately broke off the wall. Hairs in the jacuzzi. Then to fill it the hot water dripped out hot and took sooooo long to fill. Only 1 jet actually worked the other puttered out water and the jets sounded like I was working on a motorcycle. So loud. Decided to shower instead, nope! Ice cold water (probably from trying to fill the jacuzzi tub). 1 towel in room, apparently there were no more clean ones in the hotel so we were offered to use pool towels instead. (usually not a big deal but considering everything else I thought id add it too) Now im finally laying down to watch TV and of course the picture won't adjust its all garbled!! OMG this place is a joke!!! Check please!

"Great location"
Road271845, 14 Février 2020

Stayed here 5 nights. Clean, quiet, and convenient location. Staff very helpful. Secure parking. Will stay here again. Close to downtown. Many choices of restaurants. My visit was for dental surgery which was located nearby.

"Fee for being sick!!"
Jackiiee005, 13 Janvier 2020

Nice hotel , clean friendly close to everything comfy beds . The only thing that made me to never want to come and stay here again is the 35$ fee I had to pay at check out for my son getting sick in the middle of the night he threw up on the sheets and charged me for a washing me , like really I even offer to wash them myself and they wouldn't let me. They even charged a lady 10$ for having sand on a towel . I had never encounter these kind of ridiculous fees . I rather stay where I alway go . This is what we get for trying out a different hotel .

"Outstanding"
spanishintsd, 09 Octobre 2019

I would highly recommend the people from the front desk for tips on dinning, entertainment and general information about the area. I would also give great reviews to the maids and the rest of the hotel personnel for their great service and friendly ways.

"Bring earplugs. "
mvw2019, 22 Août 2019

Plus: Room is clean and bed is firm and comfortable for me Minus (and reason for 1-star). Street noise from nearby bar with blasting speakers is intolerable. Internet is below average with dropped connections. If you're jammed up and must stay here, ask for a room on back side.

"Elva"
elvaaide, 03 Août 2019

This hotel is great and it offers rooms with 2 king beds. Parking included. Located within walking distance from the pier and plenty stores and places to eat. Staff is very friendly and super welcoming.

"Nice Stay"
Roxana A, 27 Juillet 2019

Pro: clean rooms, fridge, spacious, very friendly staff, parking included. Cons: water cut off for a couple hours so we couldn't shower a day at the beach to go have dinner, WiFi never only worked for like 20mins on our day one and then it never worked for the rest of our stay.

"Surprisingly pleasant"
rcano728984, 13 Juillet 2019

Last minute getaway. About 2 1/2 blocks from the marina. Close to many restaurants including El Cid restaurant. Many places to shop nearby. Check in was a breeze. Friendly staff during stay with exception of check out. Older building but very well kept. Beautiful pool area. Secured parking. My room had a shared patio. Nice TV and AC. Nice bathroom with tub. Hair dryer and clean linens. Kitchenette with fridge and cofree maker with coffee packet. Fill cup provided with water to maker's reservoir to make your cup of coffee. Drinking water provided. Very comfortable stay!

"GREAT Hotel"
kennajanel, 12 Mai 2019

This is probably one of the best Best Westerns I've ever stayed in. It was cleaner and more quiet than some of the ones I've stayed in in the US, the staff was five star helpful all the time! The room was absolutely adorable like a little studio apartment. Mexican tile and authentic architecture made the cozy room with a luxury bathroom amazing for the price! The only downside I could find to this place was that the parking is very tight. But the location is perfect, even though it's right downtown our room was extremely quiet, the pool was very clean and comfortable and the little restaurant was absolutely perfect for breakfast.

"Great Room, Service and Food"
tatertot99, 01 Avril 2019

Don't miss El Cid! Very clean hotel in the middle of everything. Convenient, great staff and the breakfast was exceptional. They have a spa, but missed it this trip. Looking forward to returning soon! Thank you!

"Nice and cozy "
verclaco, 18 Mars 2019

Very nice hotel in downtown Ensenada close to everything. They also have a restaurant with good food (breakfast) I do recommend room price are very good. Staff is very helpful and nice. They also have a parking lot very convenient.

"Well located and impecble hotel"
MonicaNepomnaschy, 15 Mars 2019

This is a good option traditonal hot with an excellent custumer servce , good free parking and centrally located to walk to restaurants and closeto the bay. Therecis not a luxury hotl but a good and ean hotel with views to the street /bay ( more noise or indor pool , more quite).

"Centrally located"
Foreign-native, 17 Février 2019

The hotel is in the heart of the shopping district. Decent place, room was clean but the floors are creaky and the hallways echo. Parking spaces are cramped. Nice enough for a weekend getaway. Close to all amenities.

"The old Classics"
John P, 22 Novembre 2018

We entered this place because it has a very good location, but like the street, it seems to me that the whole building is very old and neglected, the kindness of its people made everything a little better, but in reality the rooms are already outdated and the price does not justify the stay either. I would not go back

"It's okay "
tissao, 16 Septembre 2018

I ordered the vegetarian omelet, which came with a heap of boiled vegetables on top. It really isn't difficult to make a vegetarian omelet which is flavoursome. The place has good potential if the chef explores and develops the current menu. Unfortunately, the vegetarian options are basic and boring, even the meat dishes could show a little more flair and detail to presentation. On the other hand, the staff were friendly and attentive. Thank you.

"Good but not great"
biglaura, 20 Juillet 2018

It has no elevator. Tight parking lot but there was someone looking out for the parking. The bathroom door was squeaky. Excellent location. Friendly staff. Good view from our balcony. Overall it was a nice stay.

"Rustic style, but good Hotel"
Nivardo, 21 Juin 2018

This place is an old Local Hotel remodeled and in excellent condition, it kept their "rustic/western" style, do not expect a modern design. Staff is very helpful and have no issue with English, they have good security. Rooms are good (still on the rustic style) and very clean. The AC has a couple of switches that you need to turn on. It is fairly close to the main night venues, but also faily away that you will sleep without street noise. The restaurant is right next to the main entrance, very good food in there.

"Worst stay in Ensenada"
lauragH4510GL, 28 Mai 2018

The Best Western has got to be the worst place I have stayed at. Arrived Friday afternoon. If you want to pay in cash you must wait until the end of your stay to pay. If you wish to pay there they charge 25 dollars to cancel the card that you used to reserve your stay with. They hold your payment a whole 2 months before your stay. We arrive to our hotel and the hotels are a bit more modern then others we've stayed at. Saturday we go out to breakfast right next door called El Cid (not the greatest food) leave for about 3 hours. We come to find no towels in our hotel room. They had take all the towels and left us none. The beds were not cleaned, trash was not taken out, nothing had been done. Called room service to ask for towels waited 30 minutes. Later that night I turn on faucet and it smells like sewer. The pool is underneath a big old tree. They clean the pool in the morning but throughout the day leaves fall on the pool and don't clean it. You have to wait for someone to buzz in to park in the structure. Worst service we have ever received. Never staying here again.

"Was just OK"
Pjveetwin, 04 Mai 2018

Although I have stayed in Ensenada many times, this was my first time here as I booked my rooms late and my normal spots were booked. So the staff was very friendly and accommodating, rooms were clean and spacious. Each room had a fridge and a bar sink. So my main complaint was we had serious issues with the room charge for more than we agreed on. We agreed on $87. out the door, then we were charged $123. After having spent too much time trying to correct it, it was lowered to $97. A major pain. Then the Wifi totally sucked everywhere. Was never corrected during my 2 night stay. Probably will not be back....

"Didn't stay just had lunch"
sjklesh, 24 Avril 2018

Stopped in here for lunch while in Ensenada for the day. The food was pretty good and the best part it was super cheap! I had a Sol and I can't remember what I had to eat. It was delicious though and i'd return.

"DON'T BE FOOLED NOT a Best Westrn Hotel"
DeniseB731611, 28 Mars 2018

My family and I were headed to Ensenada for a mini-vacation, on Saturday, 2/17/2018. I first called the hotel to find out if there were any availability, the person that answered stated that there was no vacancy available do to the long Presidents' holiday weekend. I then looked on Cheaptickets and to my surprise it stated that only one room was available, I went ahead and made the reservation. We arrived at the hotel around 10 pm. The person at the reception was very helpful with getting us checked in. When we got to the room, the key card was not working, I went back to the reception and told the man that the key card was not working. He then escorted me to the room and opened the room with the master key and told me that he will re-program the key card and bring it to me. In meantime, my husband after driving 5 hrs from Los Angeles wanted to take a warm shower. While he was showering he told me there was no hot water and no soap/shampoo/ conditioner. I immediately went back to the reception and told the man. He told me that the lever for the hot water needed to be moved a couple times and that the soap/shampoo/conditioner was inside the shower and it was a 3-in-1. He also stated that unfortunately the IT guy was not available to reprogram my key card and therefore not provide me with one. So I asked him, how was I supposed to go in to my hotel room. He then apologized and said that he would have to escort me EVERY TIME I needed the room opened. I felt this was an inconvenience and requested another room, however was told no other room was available. I had no choice but to stay in the room. And that is exactly how all night and the next morning went, every time we left the room we were escorted to the room to have someone open it for us. Attached are pictures of the 3-in-1 soap when clearly this is a hand soap and not amenities that are at the standards of a best western hotel. In the pictures you will also see that the tv was not working, since it had no signal. I reached out to managers, Jose Rendon and Patricia Campuzano the next day via email and as of today, neither one has reached out to me.

"Comfortable for Business"
Mauricio N, 28 Mars 2018

The hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. The internet was extremely slow and not always available. If you have difficulty with stairs do not book this hotel as there is no elevator. There are no amenities provided.

"Great Stay & Customer Service "
Fdelidude, 17 Mars 2018

First stay and we will be back! Juan at the front desk is the best! Nice rooms we picked back patio to avoid street noise. Facility was clean, very well maintained & classic ambiance ONLY disappointment was the price—- guess we paid for the central location and secure parking.

"Amazing Accommodations and Service in the Heart of Downtown "
tatertot99, 07 Mars 2018

Don't miss this hotel if you are in Ensenada. The entire staff is very welcoming and friendly. They make you feel like you are the only people in the hotel! They also have a restaurant with a great wine list- there are so many options in Ensenada, but this place is special. Can't wait to go back! Thank you El CID for a great stay!!

"Relax"
MeGusta O, 03 Mars 2018

Come often to Ensenada to relax and try different restsurants and hotels. El Cid is centrally located and walking distance to all. Booked online and average pricing. Checked in to friendly staff. Small secured parking. Rooms small but cute. Bathroom has some real shabby looking tile and no toiletries except the dispenser like a gym. Refrig is nice but first day no coffeemaker and then next day coffeemaker without caraffe so pretty useless. Overall its ok and will stay just for convenience to all.

"Cute hotel"
EmaSaloma, 02 Mars 2018

Best Western is cute, old hotel in the heart of downtown Ensenada surrounded with restaurants and shops. Our room was small but with Mexican charm and we had access to a terrace which was nice. Walls between rooms are so thin and we could hear what a neighbors were doing in a middle of the night....funny but embarrassing. I like hospitality of people working here but next time we will look for a different hotel in Ensenada.

"Great customer service at reception desk."
LA-travelers-to-go, 22 Janvier 2018

A year and a few months later from my first stay and hotel review and I spent this past Friday night at El Cid. So as a repeat customer to this hotel it tells that I would recommend this hotel. A big shout out to the reception desk both checking in and checking out, great friendly staff. The rooms are clean and the beds just firm enough making for a great nights sleep. Had a little issue with figuring out the two remote controls for the use of the television but a call to the front desk and in a few moments the bell man came and got it going. As I stated back in December 2016 yes I will return to the El Cid on future visits to Ensenada.

"Cozy hotel with excellent customer service"
T W, 26 Décembre 2017

We checked in at 12/24/17 and checked out on 12/26/17. The customer service is excellent. The hotel is cozy. The design is classic and the room is clean. Our room has a balcony where can see the cruise ship and the street view. The hotel is located at the center zone, close to everything. We highly recommended this hotel.

"Confy"
Malenitalucy, 13 Novembre 2017

the beds are comfortable and big. Nice view to the pool, kind and helpful staff, clean place. It's got this very Mexican deco location is great right in the heart of centro. They had no shampoo and wifi signal was really bad. Other than that, we enjoyed our short stay.

"Great experience"
Gema Y. Martin F, 20 Octobre 2017

We expend 3 nights at BW El Cid, and it was a great experience, friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable bed, nice pool, and close to everything.. We escaped to Ensenada just for relax and we really enjoyed this hotel. Next door restaurant was great for breakfast (to start the day with full energy), also close to famous "carretas" to enjoy delicious seafood, we recomend this hotel.

"Reservation caution!!"
Ana F, 07 Octobre 2017

The location of this hotel is within walking distance to all the popular spots in Ensenada. The rooms and rates are a lot more reasonably priced compared to hotels in the States. In June, I was looking online for hotels for a stay at the end of July. I did not find any available online. I phoned the hotel and asked regarding availability for my travel dates, I was pleased to hear that they did have rooms available, but that they were Junior Suites, I reserved two Jr Suites. I was given a confirmation number, plus I asked the name of the person with whom I was speaking with, Juan Canpusano. Arrived to the hotel on my travel date and the reservations were not located. The hotel staff did ask if I was willing to take a single room, I did. The staff did not apologize or admit to losing my reservations. I planned an additional trip to Ensenada in September, a Sunday and Monday stay. I booked online this time through Hotels.com, a rare finding. My friend did book on time, so I thought I would just call and book a room for him. Again, Juan Canpusano was the reservation agent. I asked for one room, I informed Juan that I had booked one room online through Hotels.com, and to please not lose this reservation. Juan stated he would attach the new reservation with the online reservation, perfect! Check out, I'm given a bill for my room. I informed the staff that room was booked through Hotels.com and that the room was paid in full. I did not not sign the payment slip, I provided my name and number so that the manager could contact me. The credit card that I provided for the trip in July was charged for the September booking. I used my Navy Federal in July, and Fidelity in September. Is this legal????????? I am disputing charges. Travelers, use extra caution when booking at this hotel, not a BestWestern.

"Very clean room and helpful staff"
Sean G, 04 Octobre 2017

I enjoyed my stay here and the staff was great. They have off street parking which is a bonus and my surf board was left on the car when in the parking lot. I never had a issue. The rooms were well appointed and it was not too noisy. When in Ensenada this is an affordable option.

"Our 4-month reservation cancelled"
jojojam31, 04 Octobre 2017

Our friend was getting married this past weekend so we all booked a hotel 4-months in advance, we call a week before our check in date to make sure everything is good to go. We arrived early and were told to come back after noon to check in, once we are back they tell us our reservation was cancelled!!! WTH!! We complained that how was this possible when we had confirmed our reservation a week ago and the man just said "it was cancelled 3 days ago you should've called then". They did not even try calling to let us know it was cancelled. We were the first of our group to arrive. We were so upset, we told them that we had another group of reservations and we hope they do NOT do the same to them. We notify our friends of the situation and the hotel had just called (after we told them they better not have done the same to them) and told them their reservation was cancelled. It was a big mess, they were obviously cancelled our reservations because we had gotten a lower rate and they had since gone up. We ended up in a different hotel room paying higher rates.

"El Cid nice quaint"
Roadking818, 30 Septembre 2017

I had one night at El Cid while working in Ensenada this past week. My client selected the hotel. El CID is located in an upscale area of the city near the port. It is an older hotel but it has a good amount of charm. The rooms are clean, but dated. Furniture is large and have a heavy wooden look. My room overlooked the pool from the 3rd floor from the side of the property so there was no noise from the street, as pointed out in other reviews. The room was spacious and furniture included a work desk, bar area with stools, night stands, lamps and small refrigerator. The bathroom was very small and the door opened inward, not fully, hitting the bathtub. This was a bit annoying. Toilet was very small and quite low to the ground. Shower was ample size but with two concerns. The plastic shower curtain was soiled at the bottom (possibly mold, not 100% sure). In the morning, the hot water needed to run for a minimum of 15 minutes before I got warm water to be able to shower. This annoyed me as I was in a hurry. The hotel does not have an elevator. There were three front desk persons, and without having to be asked, one happily carried my hefty bag up the three flights of stairs. I am fully capable, but this is a nice touch for older guests or ladies (chivalry is still something I practice). There is free and secure parking within the courtyard that the hotel surrounds. There was a guard when we arrived and again in the morning when we left. We did not eat breakfast, nor am I sure that there was a breakfast dining area. We were out before 7:00am. I do recommend this hotel if you are one or two nights in Ensenada.

"Only knew the restaurant "
Jean-Yves L, 23 Septembre 2017

The restaurant is open later than others, that's the reason why we landed there. The food is so so: Caesar salad, octopus are really average. We had dinner on the terrace with a band of Mexican musicians on Sept 15th eve. Waiter is a nice guy, slow service but he was alone.

"Well located, very helpful staff"
SanFranciscoDreaming, 07 Septembre 2017

We stayed here only one night mid week in early September 2017. Had a lovely room facing the street, and though it was supposed to be noisy, the guitar from street ended by 11pm. Might be different on weekend and in season. We had to stay past check out in the lobby due to a necessary car repair before heading back to US. Not only did they let us use their wifi in the lobby, but gave us a big water bottle. Made some calls for us as well and looked up directions for everyplace we needed. Room was clean and had character, 2 king beds. Frig and sink area. I would definitely stay here again!!

"Another great stay"
musicben, 01 Août 2017

Didn't realise I wrote a review 5 years ago but just had another great stay and wanted to thank the staff. The hotel itself is great. The only negatives might be a small pool and the fact that they no longer seem to have a breakfast buffet at the attached restaurant but the positives more than compensate. The staff were all excellent though Nicadeemus particularly sticks out in my memory for thanks. Go to the award winning seafood stall next door for phenomenal food and I also recommend organising a day trip around the nearby wine region

"Beautiful Room, good nights rest"
JerryCNX, 17 Juin 2017

We were in Ensanada the day before the Baja 500 (not intended). Anyway we stayed at the Best Western El Cid. The room was beautiful with lots of Mexican tiles. The bed was comfortable and the staff was great

"Nice older hotel, perfect location..."
tczack, 21 Mai 2017

We really enjoyed our stay. Friendly staff. Clean room. Perfect location near shops, restaurants, bars, etc. Hotel is older but charming. We would stay here again. Has parking, easy access to marina as well.

"This hotel DID not honor the price I agreed to pay when I booked it on the web!!!"
7ContinentGal, 11 Avril 2017

This hotel was booked from a second party website for $225 for three nights including taxes ,but they charged me $252 because and REFUSED to honor the second parties website price and basically said TOUGH crap!!! So they essentially STOLE $27 from me. The pool is NOT heated and has a ugly motel like ambiance as well as being freezing!!!!!!! Each room is different and some are grungy as Hell!! Our bathroom had black and green mold in the shower tiles and the sink for the room is in the kitchen area!!!!!!!Our view was hideous and we had to ask them to clean the room! Some of the rooms are nicely redone with tiled floors and new bathrooms but ours looked a nicer version of a Bates Motel!!! Best Western has poor quality control on their products so of course quality varies at each hotel!!! Restaurant was tasty and very well priced but NO WAY in Hell would I stay there again!!!! Also no screens on the balcony and a huge green bug jumped into my friends bed and she had to kill it with a shoe. Also bedding looks old and has seen better days!! In fairness to the hotel they are trying to spruce up and add a fresh coat of paint to the hall walls outside the rooms!!! Book the hotel thru a second party site because they charge 30% more for walk in customers!!!Only good thing I can say about this hotel is that the location is good!!!!!

"Mexican getaway!"
Rick D, 01 Avril 2017

The Best Western is right in the middle of the Red Zone, where all the bars and cafe's are. Clean, friendly staff, nice rooms. Parking a bit tight, so don't bring your RV. Value was good. The best breakfast was 5 blocks away at Maru, on avienda Miramar, across from Juarez Plaza. Look for the three Hermanos store on corner as the big landmark.

"Road trip with daughter March 2017"
Angie R, 20 Mars 2017

Really great staff, everyone was professional and super friendly. I have stayed at a lot of places and this is one I would go back to and would recommend without hesitation. The building has old character and history, it's clean and everything works. I didn't get a massage at the spa, but it's on my list to do. I wouldn't stay any other place in Ensenada. DO NOT STAY at the place across the street, I checked in there first and they had bugs crawling on the beds. I promptly checked us right back out and ran over to El Cid and I said "I am soooo glad I changed hotels" about 20 times that night!!

"Dreadful Internet connection "
Jacqui M, 13 Mars 2017

At first sight, this very attractive Mexican-style hotel promised a lot. The staff were friendly and welcoming; our room was spacious, on 2 levels. Unfortunately we had a street view and this did not promise a good night's sleep. Cars and motorbikes seemed to enjoy revving up, people shouted from outside as well as inside the hotel. The guests in the room above us seemed to be stomping or jumping around, causing the smoke alarm on our ceiling to fall off. Worse to come was the Internet connection which was excruciatingly slow and intermittent. Often, we couldn't connect or were cut off after what seemed like abs to connect. Not good enough for a modern hotel.

"Comfort and Location"
Z4809BByvonnec, 28 Février 2017

In contrast to some of the other experiences related here, my room was very clean, comfortable (well, except for the hard mattress that others mention), and spacious. The room opened onto a large patio overlooking a pool, and the location was great for walking to restaurants, shops, and the bus station. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. Milos arranged a wine tour for us to fill an extra day we got courtesy of a storm that grounded our flight to Guerrero Negro. We got an excellent rate on booking.com and would definitely choose this hotel for another stay.

"An urban oasis , centrally located! Best Dentist!"
robertnkenn, 28 Novembre 2016

This is the fourth time I am returning to Ensenada. The reason is simple, Excellent dental care by the best dentist I have ever encountered in my life! Dr Ortiz, Clinica del Puerto is centrally located and is walking distance from the El Cid. The hotel has safe free parking and a dedicated staff! Sometimes there is an employee that doesn't seem to fit in, but one finds that everywhere . The rooms are spacious and clean and most have a mini fridge and wet bar! Don't miss the open air fish market and the taco stands nearby! The drive is easy going down, but a little difficult to navigate on the return when you are at the end of the highway and trying to figure out how to get into the fastness/medical lane. The town is safe day and night and the natives are veery friendly!

"Sports Trip"
Marilu2016-123, 31 Octobre 2016

It was a Basketball Tournament with Nephews, Hotel was in the right spot, at walking distance to shops, restaurants. Hotel needs an upgrade, specially the bathroom. Overall we were comfortable and would stay here again.

"Excellent Location, Clean and Budget Friendly!"
El-Guapo-de-La-Noche, 11 Octobre 2016

This is one of the oldest hotels in Ensenada, and has been maintained in very good condition. Has a very nice pool area in the back, free parking, and free bottled water in the rooms as well. We had a 3rd floor unit overlooking the main street with a small balcony. Street noise was not an issue. Rooms are very clean, beds very comfortable, and staff very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. One of the great benefits in booking with El Cid, is the Medical Border Pass you get as a bonus. Reduces your border wait to about 1/2 hour. This feature alone is worth 4 hours of your time that your not wasting in line...Enjoy!

"Great location"
Kimberly R, 06 Octobre 2016

This hotel is just a block off of the main tourist zone. The hotel was in a great location. There are restaurants and shopping all within a few blocks. The front desk was very friendly and gave us great advice of a reasonable restaurant. The decor is nice and room was spacious.

"One night "
Benedict C, 02 Octobre 2016

This hotel is convenient if you would like something very close to, or in the Tourist Zone. It has free parking. I found sleeping there difficult, it is dated with few updates. The toiletries are only a liquid soap. The carpets are old and can be cleaner. If I ha seen the sheets in the light of the day I would have requested that they be changed. They were an off white grayish in tone.

"El Cid to the rescue!"
T-NutsP-Nuts, 02 Octobre 2016

Located on the main backpackers/vacationers thoroughfare El Cid combines comfort and style with Baja Mexico charm. Clean and comfy the hotel was one of few that had a room available during the busy Ensenada Wine Festival season. After countless tries to find vacancy at other hotels/motels around the area we finally stumbled upon El Cid. Other hotels stated there would be no way we would find lodging for that evening. Well, El Cid proved them wrong. Long live El Cid!!!!!!!!!

"Ensenada Family Vacation 8/2016"

"Surprise, Surprise!"
Lina M, 29 Août 2016

I just want to say I was very impressed with this hotel! This was a last minute trip I took a chance in going to Ensenada without a room booked and I have 5 other people coming with me! I was very surprised to have found a room on the same day considering it was a busy weekend in Baja. Well first thing they give AAA members a 10% discount, a plus! The hotel is located where all the shops, restaurant, and bars are walking distance, another plus! They let us look at the rooms before we booked and were very impressed! We had to get two rooms one room was a Jr. Suite and it had the best view! It had the view of the main blvd where all the action is! The rooms were clean and well kept up! The other room was a Suite with a jacuzzi tub the view was overlooking the pool! The view was ok not as nice as the Jr. Suite overlooking the blvd. but we comprised the view for the jacuzzi tub in our room. The jacuzzi tub was a decent size a little loud but it was suffice! It was a nice, clean and spacious room! The staff was very helpful and accommodating! Had a pleasant nights stay at this hotel and I thought it was pretty reasonable for the quality of service and cleanliness of the rooms! Me and my fiancé will be staying there again next time around! Also they also give you the fast lane pass when its time to head home! Fast Lane pass cuts your waiting time at the border from 3 hours to maybe 1 hour!

"Good Hotel, Great Location"
Zareski, 21 Août 2016

The El Cid was a good choice for us first-timers to Ensenada. The location is great, right in the middle of the tourist zone. Within walking distance, you have all types of shops, cafes, restaurants, and street-food vendors. Less than 10 minutes down to the Malecon or Fish Market. To the beach, it's a 30 minute walk. The staff at reception was friendly and helpful. Housekeeping was above average. There is coffee/water in the lobby all day and bananas or apples/granola bars/tea/and an espresso machine in the morning for breakfast. That's it, but that was fine for us. We made a point of going to a supermarket each night so we would have pastries/sweet bread in the morning. The room was just what we needed: comfy beds, good shower, fridge, sink, and table. We had a street view, which included a nice view of the bay and the giant Mexican flag on the waterfront. I'm sure this was nicer than the views from rooms in the side wings of the hotel. At the same time, there was some noise from the street late at night if you are a light sleeper. The parking area was small, but we were always able to get in/out quick enough. Like other reviews have mentioned, the WiFi is not good. There is a cafe across the street where our daughter went 1 night for her internet fix. You can pay less in Ensenada, but we were happy with what we got. We would probably return.

"Location, location, location"
IGH3Rat, 19 Juillet 2016

We stayed in El Cid on our way north after wandering around Baja for a week. This place has been on our list of hotels for a while. Very glad that we were able to book rooms for our stop. The location is wonderful. Close to the touristy things in Ensenada, plus within short driving times for the Ruta de Vino, La Bufadora, and Ojos Negro. The rooms are well appointed and very comfortable. The bathrooms are above norm...and very clean. Our room opened on to a large patio which overlooked the sparkling pool. Parking was adequate even for our pickup truck. The only item that we found could be better is the wifi. Access early in the morning is adequate, but as other customers wake up it gets sketchy. Fortunately most places along the street also have wifi.

"Nice hotel, nice location, but has some problems"
Jesus R C, 19 Juillet 2016

I stayed with my wife in this hotel for three nights. I traveled for business purposes, but my wife was on vacation. The hotel is very centric. There are a lot of restaurants, café and bar near the hotel. The room was clean, with a fridge, a mini-split air conditiones and a flat screen with cable. The only two problems I had were the crappy WiFi, which was very unstable and the hot water. I had to wait around 10 minutes to take a shower, because that was the time the hot water come out. I recommend this hotel, but you better travel with your own data service.

"Great Staff"
robertnkenn, 20 Juin 2016

Hotel is centrally located with safe parking, the room was comfortable and the staff went out of their way to make things enjoyable. The staff was LGBT friendly and recommended great restaurants near by. Will stay there again. Ensenada is a very safe town and was the drive from the Border!

"Ensenada is booming!"
martinmU9821EO, 10 Juin 2016

Clean & safe. Excellent wineries and restaurant in Valle de Guadalupe. The Ensenada fish market is an interesting sight with lots of fresh fish and about every type of seafood to eat right there or take with you. The hotel in located in an ideal city location. Its close to the harbor, city and very quiet. The building is older, but not rundown. Enjoy!

"What a fantastic stay "
Thomas H, 08 Juin 2016

The hotels really charming the rooms are clean plenty of towels great view from my sliding glass window of the day, the maids are really sweet, everybody's very helpful, it's in the heart of everything The workers are really cute. There's restaurants everywhere because you're in the center of Ensinoda. Great places for breakfast all around, the 51 club at the top of the street is fantastic, everything on the street that the hotels on great

"Old classic hotel"
Gilberto A, 25 Mai 2016

nice place to spend a night, old hotel, but very clean and great staff. Room was on 5 floor no elevator. Parking was good. Did not like the way the room was setup, it has a 2 step difference from the entrance to the rest of the room.

"Over charged and still waiting for $280"
Marcela Q, 24 Mai 2016

We stayed May 6th. It was a busy weekend and we had few options. First, they wouldn't honor the price on TripAdvisor. Second, they ran our card twice and said it didn't go through. Tried our second card on a second machine and it worked. What a scam. We are still waiting for the two charges on the first card of $280. They said they'd return it in two weeks. Then, they said we weren't on their records. Now, they want proof that we didn't get three rooms.

"Nice get away "
Wallace T, 05 Mai 2016

Enjoyed the room and balcony could listen to the music from the down, the street great bed lots of room nice location in the heart of downtown easy to walk any where and very clean and safe staff was very friendly and helpful

"Pretty cool"
flight000, 01 Mai 2016

Stayed here a while ago, a lil run down, the carpet definatly showed it's age, but clean and nice staff, close to restaurants and walking around. Ensenada is a pretty cool town. We had a great time. Pretty scenery.

"Vacation"
Fabiolajulia, 25 Avril 2016

My sister and i had a fabulous vacation at el Cid. hotel was clean and the employees extremely helpful and very attentive. Would stay here anytime. close to everything and you can bring your dog with you. Ensenada is a beautiful place to visit.

"On the way home."
camines4me, 12 Avril 2016

El Cid is an older hotel with room that are super big and super clean. The rooms are dated and need to be remodeled. With that being said, the staff is one of the best in all of Mexico. They see to your every need and make sure that you are happy. The Wifi is fast with reception all in the right places. I would stay her again any time.

"Great Customer Service!"
Lorena H, 14 Mars 2016

We stayed at the hotel 3/5/16. Great location to walk around downtown. Very secure parking. Our room was very clean. Great view of the pool. The rooms are a bit dated but we loved the colonial, old town feel. Absolutely love the customer service we were given by Nico & Eduardo? at the front desk. They make you feel so welcome and are able to answer all of your questions. I definitely will be returning!

"Enjoy the TV I the next room?"
Jj K, 07 Mars 2016

Friendly place but the walls are not so sound proof. I couldn't get the sound of the soap opera on tv next door to leave my head. Also hearing the sounds from upstairs coming through the ceiling. Bed was good, decor is very 1980s Mexican retro. Won't stay here again.

"Welcoming is Just the Beginning"
Jim S, 03 Mars 2016

This is a rare, higher-end hotel in the heart of the city. Comfortable setting, large rooms with views or pool access, wonderfully caring staff, 24/7 security, access to a growing array of restaurants, shopping, close to "normal" day-to-day Ensenada life. The hotel has a pool, ac/heat in all rooms, a deck overlooking the pool and town, secured parking, a spa/massage on site, and continental breakfast each morning. A real find and never disappointing.

"Tired but secure in its place because of location, parking avail but tight, check prices"
Walter J, 03 Mars 2016

I've gotten roped into stayin here once before cuz its big and centrally located. We (couple) stayed Feb, 2016 and tried 3 other smaller places but no space or couldn't park large vehicle. Had to stay El Cid again. It's tired and no elevator, we had to make 3 trips cuz bellman was busy. You can open windows and there's a/c. Our room had short steps up to 'bar' and bathroom which was tricky at night. Inside halls so safe and secure, that's about all I can say. How a beat up hotel can get over $100 a night when I can stay at a nice moderate hotel in San Diego for less is beyond me. I'll try santo tomas next time I'm in the area.

"Valentines Day with Family."
citi786, 17 Février 2016

Excellent stay, staff was extremely nice and helpfull. They have changed a lot from where they were before. Staff is extremely helpful and spoke decent english. Rooms are very spacious and clean. Parking maybe a bit challenging depending on their occupancy

"Great stay"
Hugh W, 07 Février 2016

Two days in Ensanada. Stayed here the rooms very clean staff very friendly. Parking a little tight but secure and off street. The area was fun. Do not get a room on the street side can get a little noisy at night.

"Rooms are nice but staff struggle with English"
RGlenn88, 04 Janvier 2016

Rooms are very nice, clean and comfortable. Desk staff struggle with English and are unable to help you should you have any questions or problems. They are nice enough though! The rooms are a little pricey in this time of economic downturn.

"One block off highway"
hondarider1925, 15 Décembre 2015

Located in the tourist district this is pretty standard Best Western with secure of street parking and so-so Best Western breakfast but less than a block to Sol REy (Gourmet Pepita) restaurant which is excellent. Had delightful dinner at Sol Rey, really gourmet food with great piano music.and good margaritas.

"Gustavo made the experience above average"
RickGuerito, 08 Décembre 2015

This is an nice older hotel. We had planned to head back that night, but it got late so we decided to stay in Ensenada and leave early the next morning. The rate seemed a little high, but the location is convenient and I kinda trusted the Best Western name. Gustavo at the front desk went above and beyond and made our stay awesome. The hotel room was clean, old, and the bed a little stiff. We got a good night sleep. So this worked out real well for us. Did I mention Gustavo was awesome!

"Won't stay there again ever!!!"
Ana G, 28 Novembre 2015

First no elevator in a five story building, no heater, and the room was very cold. And in the morning when we wanted a hot shower, no hot water!!! Sorry but I'm not going to stay there for another night. And won't recommend it to anyone!!!!!!!!!!

"great stay"
jdbayo, 20 Novembre 2015

Stayed at El Cid 2 nites. Room was on the 5th floor - no elevator. It was not a problem for me but could be for others. Room was clean, large. Had balcony overlooking the main street but sliding door kept all the noise out. Room had a mini-fridge and wet-bar?? There was one odd thing - the closet had a sliding panel that opened into the bathroom. There was no way to lock it from either the bathroom side or the closet side. Again, not a problem for me but could be for others. Flat screen TV with a lot of English channels. Air-conditioned. Staff was very nice & helpful. Parking available on the grounds. Large swimming pool. Coffee/tea, apples/bananas were available in the mornings by the reception desk. There was a restaurant next door but I didn't not use it. Great location. I would stay there again.

"El Cid "
David S, 21 Octobre 2015

Been there a few times, received a great service. A person by the name Nicodemus such a helpful and very friendly guy in the day shift. Night shift receptionist by the name of Erik, also very helpful , great customer service and great attitude. Wish every body be the same as them two. Thank you

"Good location , but very poor room"
Richard C, 26 Août 2015

In general, good location , but don't expect too much in this one bcs some fundamental issues , like internet speed or access cannot match your expectation, AC not working well as well. I also lost two T-shirts. For business, you had better be prepared your way to survive.

"In the center of everything"
JanRostkowski, 16 Août 2015

Nice hotel with good service, spacious rooms, ours on the top floor had a bar in addition to the usual bed etc. and a partial view of the port. Friendly and helpful staff. No elevator and no cont. b/fast. However in the same building is TIA Restaurant which serves a nice b/fast (you order from a menu, no buffet). Secured parking at no extra charge.

"Great location but..."
647JonS, 11 Août 2015

This hotel is right where the action is and as close as you can get to the restaurants and shopping. The hotel has friendly and helpful personnel. The problem lies with the rooms. They are old Spanish style rooms which we like but the air condition made the worst noise and was hard to sleep. Please replace your bath towels. They smelt so bad I didn't want to dry myself with them. The bed was ok but it got real hot and was uncomfortable all night. And the last bad thing was we were on the 5th floor and they didn't have an elevator. I came to relax and not do a workout everytime I had to go to the room.

"Overall Ok"
BenGiu, 07 Août 2015

Average Hotel, was expecting something more but it didn't trig me that wow experience. Rooms are ok, cleaning could be improved and bed are fine. I just stay overnight, maybe a longer stay could have trigged in different evaluation.

"Right in the middle of everything."
Kellen007, 02 Juillet 2015

This was a very last minute planned trip and we always get a good room here. Yes the hotel is dated, yes there is not much flare to it. However you can not beet the customer service, private parking, and the recently remodeled guest hall ways. Go to Ensenda for the fun, stay at the El Cid for convenience.
