Best Western Emporia

The staff on the property are wonderful and always willing too help. Even better when it's right next to the interstate. Also nice and quiet, never heard any loud noise or music. The property manager Pam is wonderful.

This is not a modern hotel. All your room entrances were outside instead of being in the interior of the hotel. Usually I don't book these. But the room was very clean and the mattresses were very comfortable. Plenty of towels in the bathroom. Was at the best hotel I've ever been in? No but I have been a whole lot worse than this. I would definitely stay here again. My biggest complaint would be the breakfast. It was very lacking, the eggs were very grainy and wet which is gross. There was a funky taste in the sausage patty that I ate. The best thing about breakfast was the coffee and the banana muffins. So I suggest staying at this hotel, but go to McDonald's next-door to get your breakfast when you're leaving. The hotel seem to be quiet and the outdoor lighting at night was very bright so I felt safe and secure in this area.

Needs updating in a big way. Adequate for one night traveling but could never stay there long term. The toilet paper holder was absolutely awful. I picked up small pieces of garbage on the floor, including A PILL of some sort.

I was checked out a day early after multiple times/days explaining and showing I was there and paid for 3 days not 2. Carpet was soaking wet from air conditioner, and the tile floors were slippery with soap scum, and u can see foot prints through out the tile.

After a long journey a quiet, clean and comfortable stay, with all needed accommodations available, made for a restful evening. Thank you so much for all that was done to give us a good stay! We will look to Best Western again.

We stayed here-1- night driving from Florida to Virginia. Decent hotel for us. Front desk night person was great. Very clean room and very close to everything. A lot of hotels to choose from in the area. Hotel had a pool which we didn't use. Decent hotel.

On a north to south road trip we started looking for hotels in the early afternoon. We usually stay at the HIE in Emporia but this time for the year prices are quite inflated and we decided to roll the dice on this BW, a place we've stayed at quite awhile ago, since it was quite a bit cheaper and we were going to get in late and really just needed a place to sleep. Check-in was quick (we booked with BW online) and we were able to park right outside our room, two positives so far. Unfortunately that's things got pretty negative after that. When I opened the room it was quite warm and humid inside. The air conditioner unit right by the entrance showed a glowing red 80. I immediately got the AC going and bumped it up to high, with constant fan. The room was a non-smoking room and nobody had smoked in there any time recently, but in a hotel more than 20 years old, in Virginia, I imagine every room used to be a smoking room - and some vestige of that smell will be around forever. There was also a low key dank smell that we were not looking forward to dealing with for the next 8 hours. We started getting settled and ready for bed and my wife noticed that the carpet felt damp. The worst part though, by far, was that the bed sheets and bedding actually felt damp. I gave the bedding a thorough sniff and was satisfied there was no dank-ness beyond the ambient air, but getting into bed and trying to fall asleep in damp sheets quite frankly sucked. We kept the bedding turned down so the cool, dry air could dry out the sheets, which eventually happened, but having the AC on high all night is not comfortable either. The place was busy and we weren't disturbed by any other guests, so that was one other positive thing we came up with. We skipped the breakfast, threw our stuff in the car, checked out and headed to Starbucks. Overall we won't be returning. The 70 or 80 dollars that we saved wasn't worth it. Granted, we're northerners who like it cool and dry, but this room was obviously left with minimal AC for way too long and I'm pretty sure getting into a cool, dry bed is something that is universally appreciated.

Very nice find. My wife and I stopped here for a night to split up our drive from Florida to Maine. This was perfect spot--and our well-trained dog was only another $15 for the evening (some hotels charge $100 for a pet). The hotel was clean. It has been around for awhile but it was very well taken care off-some minor rust on some of the bath fixtures but the property looked great. hotel check-in staff was very accommodating and friendly and told us where to shop and get something decent to eat nearby. Breakfast was standard scrambled eggs, biscuits, chicken patties, biscuits, cereal, etc but it was all good. A WalMart Superstore, Food Lion, McDonald's, Five Guys, Mexican, pizza, gas, buffet all within either a walk or short drive. This is going to be our go-to for future trips.

The poor cleanliness and hotel staff left me not wanting to return. There were bugs. The mattress was caved in. The floor was dirty. I should have searched for an air BNB as the price was not worth what we got. I won't return to this Best Western.

Our room smelled of mold and was filthy with dirt in the bathroom and hair all over on arrival and when we asked for another room the girl was VERY snotty! She acted like it was our fault her rooms were dirty and smelled.

I made a reservation thru expedia I called the hotel directly to confirm the reservation was made for a non-smoking room the night prior to checkin. At that time I spoke to a woman who confirmed it. After driving north for 12 hours I arrived. When I checked in I was assigned a smoking room. Brandon at the front desk refused to move me to a non smoking. He refused to escalate to a supervisor. He was obstinate and intentionally unhelpful. So then I called Expedia and Expedia called Brandon directly and told him to change it and again Brandon was obstinate and refused. The only resolution was for Expedia to refund me and then I had to go and find a new hotel at 11:00 p.m. after 12 hours of driving. It appears that all of the rooms are smoking rooms. the room I saw stinks like a dirty ashtray and was worn out, dark and dingy. People were hanging out along the balconies the stairways and in front of the rooms smoking and drinking making me feel unsafe. Plus the room was upstairs and was very difficult for me to get up there. Brandon told me to never use a third party like Expedia and only book directly with the hotel which I'm pretty sure is a policy violation so I've reported it to Expedia. Regardless of who made the reservation Brandon should have found a way to help. Instead Expedia will give me my money back and I will never stay in a Best Western again and I'll be writing corporate with this complaint.

I was rented a defective room. I got in late ordered late checkout. The maid walked in my room randomly at 9am, the Maintainance guy started knocking on the door at 9:30am, demanding he have access to my room. There was a complaint about the bathroom the day before, but I was still rented the room. I should have stayed in the DaysInn across the street.

Hotel was dirty, broken bathroom fan, toilet didn't flush properly, rotten food left in fridge. Staff had no interest in helping, breakfast was sour cream for coffee and stale pastries. I like Best western but this was the worst and I hated to stay there but it was late and at least the bed was clean.

We stay at a lot of Best Western's. Room was below Best Western standards. Stains on carpet, curtains and chair. Breakfast was good. Definitely could use some serious upgrade. The staff was friendly..

I have very mixed feelings about this location. Check-in staff & process was excellent! The breakfast…coffee, waffles, biscuits & gravy were better than Cracker Barrel's! Shower was good and hot!! BUT, since the hotel is very dog friendly our room smelled like dog disinfectant cleaner. Since we currently do not own any dogs we were very aware of the smell. Other than that, for the price, it was fine.

I arrived at 2am and checked out at 6am so it was a short stay, but the clerk was very kind and understanding to the nature of my travel and was extremely helpful. I was a little concerned about safety as I was traveling late at night alone and the room was around the back of the motel, but the clerk was reassuring that it was a safe location.

We stayed over at the Best Western on our way to spend Christmas with the family in PA. We had our dog so there were not many other choices. The rooms are old but clean. This is an older style with a large window facing the front of your room. Our dog alerts on noises outside so, He let us know every time someone walked by or closed their car door. We were hoping to get to sleep early but with guest arriving up to midnight it was hard. We could also hear the cars and footsteps, so room is not soundproof. Plus very hot water and a continental breakfast.

Clean rooms, pet friendly, and a decent price. The breakfast was adequate and included. The check in process was easy, though the desk clerk didn't look. like she wanted to be there. We would stay there again. Great Mexican restaurant across the street.

Room locations should be tailored to the customers. Seniors should have easily accessible rooms, close to parking. Breakfast should include warm and cold options. Eggs, bacon, sausages beans, toast etc., would be nice as well as the usual cereals, fruits, etc

Let me tell ya this little hotel has the best customer service . Pam the manager on days is the absolute best . My son was traveling away from home by himself for first time she helped him every way she could with rooms , rates and his stay she went out of her way to make things work for him on some other level I will always be grateful for that she don't know what that meant to me that I know my son is safe there and taken care of .

It is a motel. You park your car by your room to unload. That is actually a good thing for me. The motel is older, but it is very clean and a nice size room. The shower area is large. People working there were very friendly. Easy to get off and back on I-95. If in area, I would stay again.

Clean, friendly, close to 95. Free Breakfast was a perk. Shower was hot. Air conditioning was perfectly cold. Bed was super comfy. Would definitely stay there again if needed! Great stop if you are traveling!

We just left this hotel, stayed over night on the way to see friends. We arrived around 1am last night and was extremely tired. Unfortunately, most hotels were booked with the exception of this one. We assumed that the $150 price would give us a decent room for the night. Boy were we wrong. The king room that we purchased for the night turned out to be two doubles. No big deal. After getting unpacked, pajamas etc…. We decided to lay down. My husband went to pull the bedding back and the sheets were soiled! We were exhausted the other bed seemed ok and we didn't want to lid everything up and go back down to the desk. So we slept in the other bed. Next morning took a shower and it had hairs and stains in it. We weren't very satisfied so we decided when we were checking out to let them know. My husband went in and told the lady about the soil sheets and she replied “ this is the world we live in now. We can't get new sheets due to Covid and supply chain issues”. My husband looked at her and said the sheets are not clean. Showed her the picture and she looked away. She said sir you should have came down here last night and said something. She really honestly didn't seemed to concern. She did say we can give you a discount on your room if you want. It wasn't the discount that we wanted, we wanted to make them aware and she seemed to not really care. Never staying here again. Nasty! FYI…. The pillow was stained also.

Thank you for all you did to make our stay welcome. The hotel was easy to find off the interstate. We appreciated our comfort away from home and we will be visiting again soon! Thanks again for Best Western being a pleasurable experience....

I had made a nonrefundable reservation. Then I read some previous reviews. That left me a bit concerned about what I might encounter. Surprise! My room was just as clean and fresh as I could have imagined. All the fixtures were clean and in good working order. Linens were bright white. Bed was comfortable, with lots of pillows of varying softness. The shower had great water pressure to ease tired muscles. Breakfast was great, even the scrambled eggs, which I usually avoid. I did have a slight preference for the room in-room coffee over the breakfast room coffee. Every team member I encountered was smiling, friendly and asked about my stay and if I needed anything. I will be in Emporia a lot on business in the next few months. Best Western will be my go-to stay.

This was a nice place to stay. We slept very good. Room was nice a fresh. Pool was good and relaxing. Use the road behind the gas station to be able to pull in and out easy. There is a red light that helps with being able to get back on the road when you leave. Plenty of items to choice from for breakfast.

We were traveling from Florida to CT with two dogs and two cats. This place let us stay for a $15 pet fee. The room was basic, but not pet or smoke smelly. There was not a lot of space on the property to walk your dog, but there was an empty lot next door.

I stayed at the Best Western in April 2022.The staff was most courteous and helpful.The Hotel was very clean, and the room clean and spacious. The room even had a jacuzzi. There are many nice restaurants in the area for dinner. They offer a complimentary breakfast. But unlike other BW hotels, there are very few hot options. That is why I did not give it 5 stars.

Pubic hair left on dirt towels in the room and shower. Room smelled worse than any room I have been in ever please do not stay in this hotel ever it made my physically Ill. The children had to sleep in another room so they could breathe one child has asthma and had to do a breathing treatment immediately.

This place is a dump! Do not stay there - bad neighborhood. The room was so bad I would have slept in the car, but that wasn't safe to do. The biggest problem is reservationcounter.com They lied to us telling us we would be very happy here after lying to us about another place they booked saying it was 7 minutes of the interstate and it was 3 hrs. They charged us for both rooms and we didn't stay at either and tried working with them but they pretty much laughed at us. Should be something done with this company.

After having a rough check-in our stay at this Best Western was nice. Due to lack of staff on Monday, check in was delayed until around 6:45 PM although we had completed the paperwork at 1:45 and had to wait or the keys. The breakfast was expertly maintained by one little lady with a pleasant attitude. Front desk personnel, although were overwhelmed Monday night were pleasant and tried to make a bad situation the best they could. Would stay there again if ever in Savannah

Right off the highway so convenient for a one night stop while on the road. Facility was a little worn down. Staff was attentive and helpful. Breakfast was ok to get us on the road with some variety though mostly prepackaged options. Several options for dinner nearby. A little noisy with trucks on highway.

We stayed at Best Western in Emporia VA on our trip from Florida to NY because it is about halfway for us. It was an old building that has been remodel Very comfortable and clean We liked having our car parked right next to our door.

When we do road trips, if we stay at a hotel we usually lean towards Best Western. Not real happy with the experience at this one. Housekeeping in the room was not up to snuff. Soap scum on walls of tub though the tub itself was clean. Mirror streaky and when we took a shower we could see where someone prior to us had written his name in the steamed up mirror. The mini fridge was not real cold and there was no adjustment to turn it down . Ice machine on our floor not working. Housekeeping knocked on door at 9 am before we were dressed to clean room (No Do Not Disturb sign to put on door) Check out was 11 am. Bed was comfortable and road noise minimal.

This is an old hotel, no doubt about it. We had a problem with the toilet which flooded the bathroom. Things happen which I understand but one would think housekeeping would have flushed the toilet at some point while cleaning. We were given another room quickly. The Hotel is very clean, our rooms (the first and the second) included. If we decide to make that trip again, I would consider staying there again.

Improve front desk reporting our ac and heating system leaking extremely. We went to eat after reporting and they did not send maintenance to look at it as requested, did not report this issue front desk knew nothing about our problem the next day. Ate at 7:30 am not enough food even ran out of pepper packets, no water, garbage cans overflowing. Not at all what we expected. Stayed at other Best Westerns and their food was great.

The rooms were smelly and the place needs an update ... The shower was terrible and not clean ... The take and go breakfast was less than go... if you know what I mean we will not be stopping at this BW again when we drive down and back

The front desk help were friendly and helpful. That is the only thing good. We were placed in a smoking room when checking in and charged $5 to move to a non smoking room. The room was very much in need of repair particularly the bathroom area. The mattresses were comfortable but the sheets were bare and looked very old. There was barely a blanket. Even though it as a quick stop on a trip we expect more from Best Western. Avoid this hotel.

Hotel right by 95. There was only one restaurant in the area that sold alcoholic beverages. It was a very good Mexican restaurant in a competitors lobby. The hotel was clean, the beds were very comfortable and parking was convenient. The breakfast area was very bright and airy and had good coffee, muffins, bagels, oatmeal and juice.

Very well situated when traveling over a long distance Pretty calm and quiet. A very clean room. It was an extremely cold night but I was happy that the heather system was efficient and appropriate for that type of weather. lot of quick services just beside the hotel including gas stations.and other quick services.

This is a decent hotel as an overnight stop for long trips. The room was comfortable, but housekeeping could be a little more attentive. There was a thick layer of dust behind the end table, as well as debris and toenail clippings. There was still hair left in the tub from a previous guest and hair and dust bunnies in the corners of the bathroom. It just leaves me to wonder if they cut corners with other areas of cleaning?

Fairly decent place. Clean with breakfast. It's a good spot for an overnighter. Dogs are free. Since I don't fly do yo airline restrictions.. gym was clean. There's a back grassy area for your fur ball to do his business……………………………………………..

The motel is convenient off I-95. The motel physically is OK. The room was clean which was important since many of the motels I checked had very bad reviews. The breakfast was disappointing. Only hot offering was a Jimmy Dean egg sausage biscuit which was edible. No hard boiled eggs or English muffins. Only bagels were offered. We were first given a smoking room when we requested a no smoking room.The room was changed after we complained.

Only booked this room for the pets welcome option. Had stayed in previous BWs so expected the average room. NOPE. It smelled like a pet room and the cleaner we all use to clean up after them. Also the bathroom door couldn't physically shut so that was fun when sharing with 3 other people. Every other pet friendly BW I tried was fully booked. So with only 3 hours of sleep and driving for 10 hours, I just needed a shower and rest so dealt with it. Almost forgot, besides the door not shutting, there were dark long hairs in the bathtub (I'm blonde) and floor so not sure how well it was cleaned…

When arrived, was met by nice desk clerk. Got a room quickly & moved in. Tired from about 13 hours of driving, all I really wanted was a quick dinner (already 8P) & to check on some work things. Moved the desk chair & was disgusted. Looked like someone had eaten crackers in it & left the debris. It was filthy. Was so tired I threw a towel over it & then attempted to get on the internet. Notice I said attempted. Kept getting thrown off. Checked the bed VERY carefully & went to sleep. When checking out in the morning, I mentioned it to the clerk (I always do in-person & get receipts). She 1st asked what time I arrived. Then she rather rudely informed me that I could have said something at the time & they could have moved me. That's not the point. The point is that it was FILTHY. On the way back home I deliberately SKIPPED stopping here even though tired. Best Western has been going down hill.

Significant amount of mold on the ceilings, a little on walls, and oddly one lamp shade was covered in it. Otherwise clean and a rare find with adjoining rooms. Check-in staff was very friendly and helpful.

The room was a double queen bed, worn but not bad. The place was quiet on a Tuesday night and I got a good night's rest there. The breakfast included a number of prepackaged muffins and other breakfast items, besides coffee, juice, bagels and yogurt. I didn't expect much and it was adequate. I travel with my dog, so it was just right for us. The location right off of I 95 is a bonus.

Room was not very clean. All this talk about how special the cleaning is and the room had dead bugs and confetti all over. Looks like nothing was vacuumed or wiped down. Just a little disappointment and would not use this place again.

Air conditioner was very loud and during the night the room got very humid. Thank goodness I had a small fan with me. We checked out around 3:45 am and the lobby was locked so we couldn't fill our travel mugs with coffee. We had to go back to the room to make coffee in the little pot. Not enough regular coffee for two mugs so the driver got the regular the passenger got the decaf

I will not recommend this hotel to anyone because it was unsatisfactory. I was not offer a partial refund nor was given one.This was not what I expected. The room was dirty, smelly and unsanitized. They should be reported to hotel management.

Our family needed a last minute place to spend the night in Emporia, Virginia. We checked in late and the check in staff was friendly. The room was clean, the linens looked new. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Even with the covid restrictions, the breakfast bar was well stocked and there was good quality food. We enjoyed our stay!

The excuse is that because of Covid BW is offering a modified breakfast. It is time to bring back the hot breakfasts. The difference now between a BW property and a motel 6 is about $40. Without the hot breakfast I can'tfigure out why I use BW at all.

This dog friendly hotel met our needs. The room was clean, the bed was good, and it was very comfortable. We liked that we could park outside our door on the ground floor. Every hotel's breakfast area is less than desirable now, post pandemic, and so is this one. The breakfast is meager, at best. So, on this trip we have stayed at 4 different hotels, some have stepped up their breakfast game to pre pandemic level. It's time for this one to do so, too.

Black mold on walls, carpet wet and sticky. Nasty smell. Room overall dirty. Air conditioner not working well. Room felt damp. Would not recommend this hotel. The neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy as well

This was our first stay at a Best Western hotel in over 5 years. This hotel did not meet what we can remember from past stays at a Best Western. Bath was very small, toilet was made for a child. Towels very not very clean. Shower water was hot. Did not notice any handicapped parking spots. Beds were not bad. On the positive, easy on and off from I-95 and US 58.

As always very satisfying. Clean Rooms and facility. Very friendly staff. The location is very convenient right of highway. Places to eat within walking distance. Gas stations are also near by. The whole stay experience was great.

Room was very dirty. Don't know how it could have been cleaned for Covid protocol when the basic cleaning was not done . Looks like post-renovation cleaning was never done . Very dusty from construction . bed was made but sheets did look clean. hairs in the tub .. I slept in my cloths and had to wear my shoes in the room. Lastly , some college age people had a party a few rooms down until 2 in morning playing loud music yelling both in their room and in the parking lot. This place is the worst hotel experience I have ever had.

Great that pets are welcome and staff was very nice, but room was filthy, shower was broken and after-hours noise in parking lot was sleep disturbing. Only stayed because we were tired and desperate. There was a dumpster outside out room in parking lot so might have been remodeling, but room was dusty, dirty. Did not want to use the bedding or broken dirty shower.

I attempted to register at the Best Western Emporia, I had a reservation through Booking.Com. The property is under renovation. It is a MESS. The lobby is not at all was it appears on listing. The property is dirty and trash is about. The rooms are NOT as they appear on listing, they are dingy and unappealing. I left. Terrible experience.

The Best Western Hotel Emporia Virginia is being worked on/renovated but that did not interfere with our stay at all. The rooms were very nice and comfortable and plenty of choices for dinning close by.

Although fairly new, I believe that a lot of kinks need to be addressed! AC unit in room sounds like a freight train! Only 2 small pillows on the king bed which had a top sheet only! Would never stay here again !

Front windows so dirty wasn't sure hotel was open. No way to get to room without walking thru construction debris due to remodeling. Sheet was torn and frayed. Had to literally beg for more pillows for king size bed; had only two wimpy ones. Though polite, front desk clerk lied and said there was no one there to get pillows. Upon urging she called a "co-owner" who brought some to lobby. Very poor ownership!!!

The hotel was very dirty. Our non smoking room smelled of smoke and the area around the room was littered with cigarettes and chicken bones. We found used dental floss on the floor of our room. We will never come back and certainly do not recommend this place to anyone. Not up to usual Best Western standards.

Driving back from Florida, needed a mid point place to stay. Run, drive away as fast as you can. Do not stay here. The place is disgusting. Walking into the lobby, we were overcome with noxious fumes from disinfectant. Smell got worse as we got to our room. Threadbare rug in the entry, heavy smell of mold throughout. No tissues, barely any toilet paper on the roll and no spare. We lasted 10 minutes, wearing N95 masks in the room, with window open, in 40 degree weather and had to check out. Front desk help was pleasant and he offered another room, but that also smelled. This place needs to be overhauled big time.

I have stayed at this Best Western several times over the past couple of years. Every time I've stayed, my room and bathroom have both been very clean and everything worked as it should. Heat, ac, TV, remote, and lighting, and a comfortable bed. Great location, easy access from 58, good rates, well-lit parking area, and excellent staff. Would stay again and recommend to my family and friends.

Want to know why when I checked in -the front desk couldn't price match from the Best Western website. The front desk staff wouldn't honor your website rate and actually made me go to my car and do an on line reservation in order to honor the rate - which was $10 cheaper

First We arrived and first thing receptionist asked without us even being inside the lobby How can I help you? Decided to wait to get to counter gave name and she asked to just sign form told her I didn't have my husband plate number and felt she was just rushing me out of the front desk by saying just signed. On our way to the room yes noticed there's a construction site but I didn't mind that Got to the room and first thing noticed room looks nothing like the website. Also noticed our king size bed only had 2 small regular pillows more for a twin Size bed! Called front desk and was asked to hold to see how many pillows she can get she picked up and said only ha e one small pillow left asked if she can send it to the room and she replied I cannot leave front desk alone. Also no luggage racks Ended up sleeping with a big gap between pillows and waking up every time I landed on it Hope part of the constructions is part of bettering themselves!

They where doing construction in the lobby still at 6:30pm on a Friday night, doing the dry walling, good that I had a mask on the dry wall dust was flying all over the lobby. I couldn't wait to get my key to get out of there. I felt sorry for the lady working the desk she was vary nice and had to sit there all day. The room was dirty they need to change the filthy rug. Dead bug on the floor and crap stuck on the upper inside of the toilet. For a king size bed we only had two pillows.

This hotel is located easily off of I-95. The room was spacious. The bathroom was rather small. The pool was closed down and there was no breakfast. The room did have a stale smell, like cigarettes, it was a non-smoking room. The room did do it's job we just needed a place to sleep for the night. Not sure if we would stay again tho.

When we travel, we always stay at a Best Western. They are all acceptable hotels, some more so than others. This one was acceptable, but we were disappointed in, of all things, the mattress. We expect a certain standard in BW's bedding, and this fell a little short. Otherwise, a nice place.

we usually stay at this hotel during our trips from ny to florida due to it being pet friendly . It is always a quick stay and the cleanliness is always just acceptable. On this trip we were hesitant to stay since the pandemic is still going on. The room was pretty much as always. there was no indication that any extra cleaning had been done. There was something on the wall in the bathroom (looked like someone had sneezed) that had not been cleaned. The room did not "feel clean", including the air that was coming out of the air conditioner - I'm guessing that the unit had not been cleaned in a very long time. I think we will look for a different hotel for future stays..

Great breakfast ...... easy check in and out room was a little smellie ... we had a small dog that was going crazy with the smell of the room ..... we only stayed the night I would do it again again really good breakfast

I was dissatisfied with my stay due to extreme cobwebs in the room at the head of the bed. Upon arrival in the room it was not obvious. It wasn't until we were getting in bed that we noticed in between the bed and night stand was dirty. As we looked closer, we could then see the cobwebs with dead bugs trapped in them!

We stayed at this hotel for a quick stay on our way home from vacation. It's a great location just off the highway, exterior hallways so we didn't disturb anyone when we came in late at night. Breakfast was decent, had the basics toast, waffle maker juice and coffee. Rooms were a good size, and beds were comfortable.

Very reasonably priced and VERY clean. My choice to overnight when driving from New England to Florida. Right of I-95. Very friendly staff. Southern hospitality starts manifesting. Pet friendly and close to gas stations, restaurants, Walmart, etc.

Came here for a quick overnight while traveling to Florida. Rooms are dated. Bed was very uncomfortable. The smoke detector was beeping ( battery) I'm assuming) the shower water was only luke warm. The lady in the breakfast area was a sweetheart ( from Binghamton)

Ok. So it was a company paid King room with a jacuzzi tub. I walked in and was looking forward to using the jacuzzi. The first thing that I noticed upon inspection was that the jacuzzi was filthy, and the rest of the room wasn't much cleaner. It was getting late, so I decided that it was not a hill that I was willing to die on that night. I was going to be there a few more days, so the next morning, I asked that the jacuzzi be cleaned and she took a note. When I returned later that evening, I noticed that it had been cleaned, but frankly, it looked like that was the ONLY thing that had been cleaned. However, I was satisfied and ran the water. I got in and turned it on and.........NOTHING! I was a bit fed up at that point and went to the front desk to ask if they could put me in another room. At first she said that she could not do it without double charging the company. She also said, "Yeah, the jacuzzi doesn't work in that room." I said that "Yeah, I know." She then said that she couldn't switch me to another jacuzzi room, because they were all sold out of King/jacuzzi rooms for the night, but she could just switch me to a regular room with no jacuzzi tub and they wouldn't double charge the company. I said OK, and took the new key. The new room was clean, so that was good, but I then got curious and went online to the website. I looked and noticed that they did indeed have King jacuzzi rooms available online even though she said they did not. That's what we call a lie. Now, I should have gone back down there and demanded another room, but instead, I decided to write this review. I have NEVER complained about a room before, but I'm trying to learn to treat MYSELF with the same respect that I deserve from other people. If I was a businessman, I would not have been treated this way, but I happen to be a truck driver. That does not, however, mean that I deserve a room with a ratty mattress, that hasn't been cleaned, and has amenities that do not work without being told that they do not work, and then be lied to about the availability of another room. I deserve better than that, regardless of what I do for a living, and for a hotel with the word "Best" in the name, the Emporia Best Western definitely did not live up to its name.

First room given to us smelled awful and heat/air conditioning was broken. Second room was a bit better but air conditioner was load. Too close to road. Bedding is so worn out and rooms old. Breakfast not appealing ..

This is the perfect half back place to stop between Florida and Pennsylvania. Easy on off hotel with a lot of privacy. We travel with two dogs and this hotel is very accommodating. Dog area with bags(wish everyone would use them) is a nice touch when traveling. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was adequate for the price paid. All the employees were super friendly and helpful. Will stay again for sure.

We were pleasantly surprised by this motel. The room was quiet and comfortable. The breakfast was better than advertised. Also, there are lots of restaurants nearby. It was an easy walk to 5 Guys. Overall a good experience.

Finding a pet friendly motel on our way to Florida from NY every year is never easy. This motel is an easy on/easy off I-95 place in south Virginia. The motel is under renovation and most rooms on our side were empty and being renovated. Our room was done and had new bathroom floors and new carpet in the room. However, everything else was old, i.e. curtains, furniture, walls, etc. and the room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned/dusted. Since we were there only overnight it was fine. Breakfast is a bonus. I wish motels wouldn't charge extra for pets but just because our pet doesn't make a mess of motel rooms I guess others do. OK place for a short stay.

Great customer service. The Hotel was convient and clean. Room was large and way cleaner than other Hotels I've stayed in during my travels.i would recommend staying here and will again. The Breakfast is also alot better than others. Hot eggs and sausage. Toast, fruit,yogart, juices waffles. All good and the young lady in the breakfast area was very accommodating, making sure the area was clean and you had whatever you needed

Get a room in the back unless you want to listen to trucks all night. Couldn't sleep at all for all the noise. Service was good and breakfast was ok. Room was clean and functional. Ice machine was broken as was clock in the room.

Property is old and outdated but clean. Staff friendly and breakfast was decent. If you stay here, get a room in the back. We didn't and all we heard all night was the truck traffic from the road in front of the hotel.

Our room 105 was clean and comfortable. Wi-Fi and TV worked perfectly. Needs updating. Very good free breakfast including scrambled eggs and sausage. Make your own waffles with fixings and assorted breads and danish. Great for an overnight stay during a road trip.

The room had seen better days. Beds were too soft, towels scratchy, and the stopper in the sink would neither open nor close. Place needs a lot of work. We did not bother with the breakfast to get an early start. There are much better places to stay.

I checked in and completed the process in record time. The desk clerk was prepared and waiting on my arrival. A quick signing of papers and I had my room keys and on my way; the checking took less than two minutes...amazing. I was impressed by the organization and preparedness.

Easy access to 95 with restaurants in the area. Renovations are in-progress, with our room being dated. Comfortable beds and surprisingly quiet - was expecting noise as we were at the top of the steps.

Upon arrival the lady cursed at me and told me to not break the fng door instead of saying ma'am I'm at the window over here. Very apologetic once I told her I'm, not drunk nor ghetto at 3am in the morning, I'm here for business and she really shouldn't talk to people like that. Oncoming staff were very professional. The bath tub was of shaved hair and the water would not drain properly. Nice Area.

Hotel staff was friendly and check in was quite easy. My room was older but some of them are being renovated. Standard Best Western breakfast. Only down side was the doors were locked before 6am, I'm guessing for breakfast set up. Hindered early check out because doors were locked.

Traveling south on 95 we decided to stay here for the night. Although there are signs that state they are refurbishing... this did not impact our stay. Rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable. Front desk clerks were extremely friendly and appeared very knowledgeable about the motel and what it offered. It's location is very convenient to Rt 95... with several eateries nearby

Driving to Florida with my dog, and needed a few hours of sleep. Check-in staff seemed totally uninterested in what I needed, bed cover in room had cigarette or cigar burns. Dingy atmosphere overall. I checked in at 4:30 a.m. and was charged $100. Other experience with Best Westerns much better. I'd skip this one.

There was a sign on the door that they were in the process of remodeling the hotel. Our room looked new and very clean, but I wasn't sure about the bathroom. There was new floor and a new tub, but the tub surround wasn't replaced and it looked like they just used a thick application of caulk to cover the mold or whatever. The toilet also needed replacing. There was a bug in the bathroom and also one in the microwave. They were not cockroaches, but I'm not sure what they were. I liked that the sink was not in the bathroom. There were three of us sharing the room - me, my husband, and my sister, so It made it easier getting ready in the morning. Some advice - make sure you are talking to Best Western when you call. I thought I was, but it turns I was talking to a 3rd party booker who would not give me an AARP discount and was going to charge me a $30 service fee. I hung up and called the right number and got the room much cheaper.

Traveling with two cats, was very pleased with the ease of access on and off the highway and nearby restaurant choices. Hotel room/premises was very clean and staff extremely pleasant and helpful. Breakfast selection was more than I expected and plenty of tables/chairs for people to sit. Highly recommend.

Positives: The check in clerk and staff were nice, dog friendly (Thanks!!) with a free average breakfast. The beds were comfortable. No lobby to get in the rooms, This is easier when traveling with a dog. Right off of the Hwy. Negatives: Our well -behaved dog started sniffing every inch of the room and would not settle down. I thought he was smelling other dogs from previous stays, we could not smell any. I found out why when we were packing up, both beds had a spot that looked blood about the size of a quarter on each end. Strange? Hopefully they were clean, When I turned on the air conditioner, The smell was so musty, I had to turn it off. The towels were old and dingy.

The lady who checked us in wasn't very happy or sociable but everything else was fine. Plenty of parking. Room was clean. Breakfast was good. The staff in the am was helpful and friendly. They appear to be renovating. Nothing grand but for a place to stay after driving all day it was just fine.

quick and easy, pricing good, for over night stay to north myrtle beach, close to 95 for easy on and off highway. several restaurants to choose from. were doing some renovations, but didn't seem to affect our stay. breakfast was quick, and was average. but saves from stopping down the road on long trip

Had reservations at another hotel that closed with only hours notice so I gave them a call to see if they had any rooms. They had only smoking rooms left but hey it was a bed for the night. The woman at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room did smell a little like an ashtray but not nearly as bad as I thought it would. It was very clean and nicely decorated. The beds were super soft and cozy. Very quiet hotel. The woman that checked us out was also very friendly. Highly recommend this hotel.

We got here at 9 and thought the pool would be finished but were surprised to see it open until 10pm. we enjoyed a warm much needed swim. The room was moderately clean, towels a bit sketchy. Nice big fridge and cool to have a microwave. Gas stations right next store, walkable and convenient. Had waffle maker at breakfast, bit of a wait if you go later.overall enjoyable overnight stay. Air conditioner worked well,shower a bit low pressure but lots of heat water.coffee and shampoo,soap provided. Nice touch. Would return but more expensive than other nearby choices that looked sketchier on line.

Traveling from Florida to CT, needed a pet friendly room , which was available. Found the room the be not cleaned, cobwebs on walls over mirror, floor dirty, not throughly vacuumed and and a dirty sock under the desk. I'm not picky about about most throngs but come on clean the room appropriately. I hate to think of what I didn't see that wasn't cleaned appropriately. If the room was throughly cleaned one would not of left behind a dirty sock and visibly soiled carpet.. could of been better for 95$. Breakfast was suitable and coffee good.

This is an older two-story property, (no elevator) but some of the rooms seem to be in the process of being renovated. They have a wonderful Continental breakfast with many hot items. The staff keeps it updated. The property is off interstate 95 with easy on-off access. It is far enough away to reduce road noise. Several gas stations nearby make for easy fueling. Nemours restaurants in the vicinity.

Love my Best Western!! Only stay at these hotels and I have used them for the past 20 years!! I have always found Best Westerns to be clean, friendly, helpful and nice to stay in. They are also easy to find off the highway

This place was an absolute dump! Our room had a musty reek that set our allergies off immediately. The clock was flashing, lights didn't work. The buildings structure was falling apart. The lobby breakfast was uneatable: from the watery coffee to the stale, disgusting “pastries.” Our 1st clue should have been that the lobby is locked from dusk to dawn & you have to conduct your business through a prison-hole-speaker-window on a side wall. Save Yourselves, Do Not Stop Here!!!!

I was in route to Va. Beach and found out that there had been a mix-up in my check-in dated so I stopped in Emporia. I had stayed at a couple of Best Western Plus locations lately and like the improvements the chain had made, so I picked this hotel. I was just there one night, but the room was clean, the layout was good, and it had the amenities I like (coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator, and an easy chair). The free breakfast was also good. The room was quiet and everything was in working order.

Liked this hotel, was with in walking distance to a couple of restaurants, we had a small pet and there were plenty of places to walk our dog. Everything was well lit, so I didn't mind walking our pet after dark. The pool was crystal blue and very clean. Breakfast had a few different choices and everything tasted fresh.

We were traveling from Florida to New York and it was a convenient stop. Used the travel coupon book at Welcome center, but we had enough reward points for a free stay. It was an older hotel but several nearby restaurants.Staff was very friendly and helpful.

This place needs some serious updating.Upon check in I had to talk through a small window from outside as the lobby was locked up. This should of been my first clue not to stay there. Smoke alarm/ carbon monoxide dector went off at four in the morning. I then shut off the air conditioner as there was a car running outside, and after sometime the dector shut off. So at that point I didn't use the air condtioner. After showering I turned the air condtioner back on and the dector began to go off again. I had to carry my luggage upstairs to get to room, no elevator. Staff there act like you are a bother to them!! No one was friendly. Avoid this place at all costs.

Have stayed at this hotel and actually gave it a good review. I'm not sure what happened between our last stay and now. Asked for a king handicap room and was assigned a smoking room. The woman at the front desk was very nice and said she didn't have another room where you could park in front of the room with a king bed so gave us a room with 2 queens. It was 1:00 am and we also had to wait because this poor woman was doing everything. When we went to our room there was a man in it which I'm sure I scared him as much as he scared me. I was then given a non smoking handicap room. This room is beyond gross. I have no idea what the smell is but I had a can of air freshener and I sprayed it several times and it still smells. The bed is all saggy with wrinkled up sheets, the floor is sticky feeling so I have to wear my flip flops to walk across it. There is a chair in the room that looks like it came from good will that my dog keeps sniffing the end of it so I'm sure another dog marked it. The "white" towels are grey and dingy and the bathroom is beyond disgusting. We always have used Best Western because they are pet friendly and with a pet prefer the outside corridor. During the last week we stayed at 2 different Best Westerns and both were terrible. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I am currently in this room and it is making me itch just looking around

A convenient choice for an overnight stopover. Clean, comfortable, and just a tad depressing -- room was well laid out but dark, no elevator (short walk up ). Bed was comfortable, pillows were just OK, towels were (again) adequate but far from luxurious. Didn't have the free breakfast but it was generic OK.

Room was only adequate. Room was situated with outside entrance only. Needed to walk outside to lobby for breakfast. Beds were comfortable. The fridge did not work at all. It was not the quality we had expected from a Best Western!

This hotel was the #1 most abysmal hotel experience I have ever had. Room #1 reeked of cigarettes. Shuffling heavy bags up the stairs to the room change revealed a toilet bowl full of human excrement. (Pause now to barf in your mouth.) Which begged the question: was this room even cleaned? Disgusting. And not only that: the walls, the plumbing, the furnishings: old, decrepit, FILTHY. Corporate management needs a MAJOR intervention in this Best Western in Emporia, VA.

1st room smelled soooo bad. They let us move rooms and the 2nd room still smelled bad, but wasn't gagging like I was in the 1st room. Never again. We travel back and forth to NJ and FL all the time. Will never stay here again unless they renovate.

The rooms were not clean and out of date. Overall the smell around the hotel and in the rooms were damp. The setting of this hotel was more little a motel. I have stayed at Best Western so many times but this one is one of the worst

We stay here twice a year and everything is always great. Front desk people are great.Room is always clean. When we use the breakfast service it is very good. The pool is not opened, but the website does say that it is seasonal.

Stayed one night on the way from Florida to Kingston. While realizing this is a "budget" hotel, still expect the rooms to be clean. The shower stall had black marks - possibly mold, and the overall room condition was old and tired.

For the traveler going from Florida to Northeast U.S. on I-95, a good overnight stay is the Best Western in Emporia, VA. It's clean and accessible with good service. A free breakfast—eggs, cereal, fruit, waffles, toast, yogurt—is included in room fee.

Selected this property because of reasonable price and pet policy. Big mistake. Although the staff was friendly and the breakfast decent, the site needs a substantial cleaning and refurbishing. Our room was quite dirty. All around the edge of the room dust was caked on the carpet. The carpet felt grimy to the touch. The bathroom floor was sticky with little spots like urine splashes and there was mold on the bathroom ceiling. The towels were dingy and worn and the bed linens were uncomfortable as was the bed. The closet door was broken so the closet could not be used. The parking lot was full of mud so it was impossible to not track it into the room or car. It's too bad because the room could be nice. It's large and nicely designed. Hopefully management will realize the shortcomings and deep clean the place soon.

This hotel succeeds at the basic level - the bed was comfortable, it was easy to set the a/c unit, no excessive noise from the nearby highway. On the downside, the lighting is very dim - perhaps that was necessary in the incandescent lighting days but now with low energy choices it's annoying.

We stayed at the Best Western Emporia last night to break up our drive from Maine to Myrtle Beach. The hotel is right off I95 and there are restaurants and gas stations right there. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. A hot breakfast was included. Scrambled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, assorted cereals, bread, and juices. The 11 AM checkout was a plus.

We try as a rule to stay at Best Western Plus when travelling. We generally don't stay at this type of hotel( 2 story,enter from outside) but they passed the #1 test when travelling. A comfortable bed. After this everything becomes secondary. The breakfast was good. There was a good assortment of food and you can never go wrong with biscuits and gravy. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. In a pinch, We would stay here again.

We stayed at the Best Western Emporia this past weekend during our scuba diving open water certification up at Lake Phoenix, VA. It's a less than 30-minute drive away, so it was pretty convenient. Our room was comfortable and I really appreciated the nice hot shower after freezing up at the lake. We enjoyed the breakfast with many options in the a.m. before we headed to the lake. The desk attendants and the breakfast assistants were all very pleasant. We would definitely stay here again if we are ever back in the area.

Hotel locomotion is really very good. The people working there are very friendly, I would like to recommend people to stay there, despite the building is really very old it's a nice place to stay. The weather was not so good but it was not your fault

Very accessible for geriatric parents as they can walk a few steps from car to room. Between the four of us we had 3 80 lb dogs. A fifteen dollar fee. No weight max on dogs. Beds kind of firm as were pillows but nice when u r a snowbird and don't need much! Nice field next door to walk dogs. No baggies or waste receptacles though. Staff was extremely nice and very efficient

This hotel has been doing renovations to their property. I had a renovated room that had a king size bed. What a great room. I rate the room 4.5 - would have been 5 if they could have increased the bathroom. Breakfast had hot eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes besides ceral, coffee, etc.. Rated this 5. The staff was friendly and professional. Price was outstanding. Highly recommend.

This is a nice place to stay with a very god breakfast buffet that starts at 6 am. My only and significant issue was that someone has obviously smoked in the room the smell was strong enough to make my eyes water.

I always stop at the Best Western in Emporia, VA because I know I will get a clean room, a hot breakfast and am able to take my two dogs with me. I can have two queens beds which I share with my son who is my designated driver on my way to South Carolina,

I liked the stay for the most part. The smell of the room took some getting used to. I like that I can check in whenever and I wasn't limited to a specific time. What really irked was people knocking on the door twice during the last 15 minutes of the stay. First, I'm not from this area and I don't know you so I'm not too comfortable with opening the door at all. If they want to check if I'm leaving, they should communicate with the front desk and not worry me. That's not my job to let you know that.

Good hotel for a over night stop. Easy access off I95. Clean rooms comfortable beds. Good breakfast for a free start to the day. Lady working in the breakfast area was very hospitable. Topping off your coffee from a fresh pot. Front desk staff were excellent quick and efficient. Good quality room for the price.

Although not a new hotel, was well kept, staff were fantastic and the continental breakfast was excellent. We would definitely stay there again. We had everything we needed to make our stop enjoyable.

This motel is overpriced. My husband and I sleep in a king bed at home so we paid $5 extra for the umm privilege. Desk staff was very nice and check in was easy. The area behind the front desk and beyond let's you know the place is in decline. The two stars are because of the stains on the carpet, the hideousness of the jacuzzi tub, they would have had to pay me to use. Bathroom around the toilet area flooring looked sketchy. With taxes the room was $100 bucks way too much. We'll pay the extra $20-30 bucks next time for Holiday Inn.

Aftwer driving several hundred miles toward our destination it was A PLEASURE TO GET ACCOMODATIONS AT THE HOTEL. We stayed there several times in our travels so it was no suprise to us what to nexpect. A great value for the money.

I recently started staying at the Best Western's for several reasons , #1 their pet friendly and they charge a flat fee versus per animal, the rooms are up to date , clean and the beds are extremely comfortable with top notch linens. I always get a great nights sleep when I stay. It's my new favorite hotel and I've stay a many throughout the east coast

We stopped at the Best Western in Emporia on our way south New Year's day. The facility is not new, and is showing its age some, but the staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The hot breakfast is about what you would expect for a roadside hotel, but the person attending it could not have been more helpful or friendlier. Brightened my day. Pet frindly.

This hotel is not well-managed. The rooms are out-dated, peeling ceiling in the bathroom, lack of cleanliness in common areas: dog excrement on the stairwell. The attendant at breakfast was helpful, that's about all I can say on a positive note. We spent over $100. Should have been in the $50-60 range.

Checked in and asked if I could get an additional room. The front desk accommodated all our requests. They made a boring business trip nicer. I will stay there again because of staff, location and how the place is maintained

My wife and I stopped heading south and were VERY disappointed in the motel. Rooms accessed from the outside. Very dirty outside. Room was not dirty, but not clean, either. Bathroom floor tiles messy where they hit the walls...caulking not complete. Ceiling in bathroom spotted with mold. Reminds me of the cheapest motels in the past when we didn't want to pay much. Will not make this mistake again. Pay the money for an upgrade to Hampton Inn or similar, or choose another "off brand".

Clean rooms, friendly staff and lots of choices for dining and shopping near by. This is a traditional outside entrance style hotel where you can back up to your room which is important for us with a limited mobility family member.

PROS: The facility was in generally good condition. It looks to be solidly built: noise from above our ground-floor room was non-existent. The room's furnishings were mostly in good condition. The mattress was comfortable but not the best. There were some issues with the room – see below. The breakfast options were good. CONS: The lobby desk was unmanned when we arrived at about 4 PM. A handwritten note stated “Back soon”. We had to wait about 5 minutes. The middle-aged woman who checked us in was efficient but surly (note that the different woman who checked us out was very friendly and equally efficient). In response to my request for a room in the back (also made at the time of making the reservation) I was pretty much told that those rooms were only for paying guests (it happens that we were using our points for this particular stay). To be fair, our room fronting on U.S. 58 turned out to be pretty quiet anyway. The lockset on our door was in poor condition. It was very difficult to get it to lock and we were concerned, I think legitimately, that the lock could be easily overridden from the outside. We had no choice but to put all valuables back in their car when we went out for dinner. Also, the deadbolt was not functional. We had to rely on the interior security lock. For additional safety or warning, we also propped a piece of furniture against the door when we went to bed. With some reluctance, we decided that we did not want the hassle of changing rooms. The toilet required a deft touch with the trip lever to get it to stop running when re-filling. The bathroom in general is in need of maintenance or updating. The A/C had only two settings: 59 degrees and 70 degrees – obviously, one too cold and the other too warm. However, it otherwise worked effectively and was not too loud. COMMENTS: Others complain about the noise. We have stayed here a number of times over the years – ground floor, top floor, front, back. Maybe we've been lucky, but we have never had any undue problems with noise here. Although there is less road noise at the back, the back is where all the larger vehicles park and in our experience they make more noise in their comings and goings (often very early AM) than does the highway. WRAP-UP: It happens that Emporia works well for us for an overnight travel stop. This is not at all our best Best Western experience but we still think that it is the price/performance choice for Emporia.

We stopped here for an overnight on our way to Georgia. This hotel was clean and quiet. Nothing fancy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was well stocked, there was a nice variety. You access your rooms from the outside, and there are plenty of spaces in front of the rooms for easy unloading. I was very pleased and would stay here again.

This place is the worst BW we've stayed at! No one swimming in this green pool full of algae, that should have been enough for us to select another hotel! (But we werent planning in swimming anyway) No Elevators, outdoor Motel with very loud traffic noise all night (bring earplugs). The front door was impossible to open. Housekeeping did a nice job cleaning our rooms, but our room smelled awful, like mold (& hunting dogs were in several rooms). There were also spiders in bathroom & bugs on floors. This place needs a serious remodel. Beds werent comfortable (no pillowtops here) & AC runs awful (looks like its 50yrs old).

I stayed here recently and was charged over $700 in charges that I did not authorize or was aware of until I looked at my bank statement. When I went to the bank to check with them the 700 had already cleared. I put the bank on the phone with the front desk manager who argued and said that they could not see where I had been charged that much and that it had to be the banks fault. When my banker told her that they charged my card and it had already cleared she still argued. I travel for work and have never had a problem like this. I am filing a dispute and will also be in touch with the better business bureau.

First stop on long trip to Florida. Very tired. Had booked 2 rooms in advance. Pros: Good location for both food and gas. Cons: Unfriendly check in staff. No elevator. Soaked carpet in ground floor room. Yellow water in toilet (NOT URINE). Very poor flush power. Lumpy bed. Small lumpy pillows. Do not recommend.

Was a little disappointed in the pool as my kids had been waiting to get in all day and they got in for about 5 minutes, but said it was dirty so they didn't want to stay in any longer. It had rained earlier in the day and one side of the pool couldn't even walk by as the rain water wouldn't drain. Only place to sit with an umbrella that wasn't in the wet zone had beer cans and other trash under the table. Also the phones were down and were told they wouldn't be back up during our stay. As for sleep the bed was comfortable, once the pool emptied out it was much quieter. Do be aware this is an outside motel where you walk up the stairs and you can here people talking and walking bye so if a light sleeper bring ear plugs.

Pleasant place to stay. We did not have any significant problems. The bed was comfortable. The area seemed to be quiet. Kids were enjoying the outdoor pool. There were several places to eat nearby, mostly fast food type places. Evidently the internet password changes at midnight the first of the month so we had no service the next morning. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time.

Arrived after 11pm and lobby was locked. Check-in was done via walk up window which made it difficult to hear. Staff indicated room was on first floor but not at what part of the building. Outside room entrances with no directional signs. It took 10 minutes to find the room. A cockroach the size of a quarter greeted us which my husband had to kill. Reservation was for 4 and non-smoking but only 3 towels were supplied and room was smoking. Rooms were not as shown on website. Fire alarm in room went off at 2am. Desk did send someone to change the batteries. Breakfast the next day was good which brightened the stay a bit. I would not stay there again.

this was a great overnight stay on our way to our weeks vacation from PA to North Myrtle Beach. easy on and off to Rt. 95, and clean and easy to deal with folks, plus complimentary breakfast so you can get on the road to your next destination.

Traveling down south with family (including four-legged member) we stayed at the Best Western based upon prior reviews. In the first room the toilet overflowed feces and water flooded the room. After given another room the dissatisfaction continued... hair in the shower stall, moldy smell in the bathroom, filthy carpet with dirt and thick dust in every corner. Room infested with gnats, black bug on wall near bed and in bathroom. (Not sure what it was, but it was the size of a roach.) Will not come back. I do not mind old, but dirty is unacceptable. The only positive, was that we were given a pet credit and the hotel had a very accommodating front desk and breakfast staff.

Got off I-95 at 10:00 pm, and needed two adjoining rooms. They easily accommodated us at a fair price. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds and pillows. Breakfast was pretty typical how ever the lady taking care was exceptionally nice, as was the checkout.

We booked this hotel last minute. The location of the hotel is close to I-95, The Check in process was quick but not friendly. The room door did not close tightly, the bedskirt was stained and the chair, although comfortable was faded/discolored. An odd item in the room was a black porcelain jacuzzi. The bed was comfortable and the facilities worked (although the air conditioner was noisier than some we have experienced). In my opinion, the place needs care or renovation. The bright spots were the checkout clerk and breakfast bar attendant who were capable, friendly and professional.

I like traditional motels with external corridors, and this Best Western, across the far side of the freeway from the town seemed just what I liked. I walked in, the receptionist looked at me, turned away and shuffled a pile of papers. I waited. "Excuse me?" I said. She turned round sharply, "Yes?" "I'm looking for a room for the night." "We don't have any left on the first floor" she said, sharply, and turned back to her papers. So, I thought, I'm not wanted, and walked out.

we stay here on our drive from NY to FL - we have a dog so we need a pet friendly hotel - this one completely fits our needs - very friendly staff, clean rooms and breakfast - our only complaint is that the pillows are small and square!

I was traveling north and needed a place for the night near the I-95 highway. This was just right. Plenty of convenient places in the area for gasoline or whatever, but not a really good selection of restaurants around.

This motel features a great location,very comfortable beds, friendly service, and one of the best complimentary breakfasts I've ever had at any motel. We would definitely consider staying here again if in this area.

Easy access on and off I-95. First floor rooms available and there's a large field within 100 yards of the hotel that's perfect for dog walking and exercise. The staff is so friendly and the rooms are basic but nice.

Arrived about 6:30 pm on Saturday on the way back to Florida. Check-In was easy enough. Front-desk clerk waved off my offering of driver's license and credit card I had on file. Must've been my sweet face. No ice in our floor's ice machine-had to go down to ground floor. Beds touted as queen-sized were not... only doubles. Would've opted for single king if I'd known but at least the doubles were clean and comfortable. Breakfast next morning was the usual fare-waffles, eggs and some sort of potato casserole. Eggs were watery but everything else okay. Breakfast attendant had a tip basket out-something I've never seen before nor did I oblige by contributing. Best Western needs to take a look at this practice. Check-out was smooth making for a fair stay overall.

I usually always select Best Western for my one night stays. The value and service are normally consistent. This was an eye opener. Small in-room issues like pillow quality and A/C noise, small bathroom and overall appearance were noted. I don't like the addition of $10 fee to see if I incurred any additional costs from my original room rate that they say will be returned once they clean the room. I am not a rock band.

We stayed here one night on our way to Florida.This motel is reasonably priced. Very clean. Convenient location. Rooms very roomy. I highly recommend this Best Western if you are traveling, north or south. Right off Interstate 95. Also free breakfast very good and enjoyable.

Poor quality of room, light did not work and front desk did nothing. They said that there was no maintenance person on the premises. I had to move some lamps into the bathroom area in order to see. There was urine stains around the floor of the toilet. Fruit in breakfast was rotten.

We have been regulars at Best Western Hotels for years, and they never fail to deliver for us. We travel with a pet, and my wife has mobility issues; Mary, our concierge made special arrangements for a 1st floor room. Not unexpected, but appreciated nonetheless. Great place to stay with a pet. The beds were very comfortable, and the staff was helpful. My only concern was that I prefer hotels with inside entrances to the rooms, but I didn't feel at all unsafe here. There were a lot of construction workers staying here. There were fast food options nearby. I will stay again.

As with all Best Western hotels we have stayed at, clean, convenient and inexpensive. All the staff were friendly and very helpful, and of prime importance to us, the hotel is pet friendly. Personal preference - when travelling with dogs - I would prefer a room that is not carpeted - wood, laminate or vinyl would be better - more hygienic!

Stayed here on our way back from Florida to NY. Bed was comfortable, room was clean but a little dated. Hotel is pet friendly and we were able to get the bottom floor and park in front of our room which was easy with pets and luggage. Down the road a 1/2 a mile there is an Applebee's which is open until 12:30 am if you need a late night option for food. Easy on off to I-95 and beds are comfortable. We would stay there again for a night when traveling back and forth to FL and NY.

The location is great - right off I95 BUT that could be an issue if you're a light sleeper - constant truck noise. Mary at the front desk is very nice and helpful. I needed her help because there was no shampoo in the room. She provided me with some. The room is nice. The only amenity lacking was a USB port so I was unable to charge my GPS whose battery had drained. It was extremely cold - 10 degrees and the heating unit wasn't plugged in. There are plenty of eateries right nearby. Stop at a rest area on the way down and look for a booklet with a discount coupon that gives you a better rate than any other you could get.

If your are looking for new or modern decor I would not recommend. However, it was clean, friendly, allowed pets for a fee, it was right of highway and they had a Great breakfast with helpful staff. They had everything that we needed.

We pre-booked a room which is handicapped accessible on our trip driving from New England to Florida. After nine hours of driving we are exhausted and needed our room and bed desperately. The room is comfortable with a king size bed, a huge bathroom a walk-in shower, a handicapped toilet, large TV, blow dryer, frige, coffee and pot, just so comfortable for two tired people.

A good experience at this hotel. Front desk staff was friendly and professional. Room was clean and comfortable. Room furniture in this hotel is a bit dated, but not off-putting. Bed was comfortable. Wi-fi worked well. The heater worked very well (important because the temperature had dipped to 20 degrees the night we stayed there). Our only issue was a broken coffee maker, which we took to the front desk and they kindly replaced, after being super apologetic about it not working. Couldn't have been nicer! Smoking rooms are available at this hotel. This is also a pet friendly hotel -- good to know the next time when we travel with our dog.

Great location near I 95 over the Virginia border As well as restaurants and assorted gas station. Also, very pet friendly, breakfast is good. Shopping available in the area. Gas prices are a little high.

This BW was noisy and not as up to date with room but average. Staff was pleasant and breakfast was hot or cold choices. Easy on and off intersatate 95 . We will use Best Western again when we travel.

This is a comfortable hotel about mid way between New England and Florida. If you want to travel two days either way this is the place to stay. It used to take 21/2 days before I stayed here. Value is good and so is the breakfast.

When I searched on the internet for the phone number to make a reservation at this hotel, I was led, unknowingly, to a Priceline number for, "Best Western" I wound up, not only paying more than if I had phoned the hotel directly, but also had to pay in advance.

Bed was hard as a rock. Got in late, did not request a new room as I didn't know the bed was uncomfortable until I was ready to go to sleep. If I new earlier I would have changed roims. Room was clean, bathroom was clean, shower worked.

The hotel certainly served its purpose, BUT, I could hardly get the door open, had to really push it in, the hair dryer didn't work, the access to the rooms was inconvenient. But the rooms were clean and nice, other amenities in room were great. Breakfast food was fantastic. It certainly serves the purpose when just stopping over on a long drive.

The hotel is a very good Best Western. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. My room was very quiet which was important as we were traveling thru from Florida to NY. Breakfast was the usual Best Western fare. The only knock on the place was that the bathrooms were dated and the shower head was broken but worked.

I needed a place to stay for one night, pet friendly,while travelling south down I95. Id chosen BW ahead of time due to my good past experience with BW. Checkin was a breeze, room was right off the parking lot as Id asked. The decor for the room was dated, as if I was in a 2 star hotel, but it was clean! Wifi works but its slow. After a good nights sleep I went to check out at 05:30 but the lobby was locked and nobody at the window to take my key. So much for a check out experience. All in all an ok stay, and I would stay again, although a bit pricey for the type of room ($100 with a pet).

We stop here once a year, about the same time every year and each time we have seen the same staff. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we recommend this place to friends who are driving through this area.

This was our second stop at this venue and we will return. Friendly people, good rooms, lots of AC outlets, hot breakfast in the dining area, a good value for the price. It is a 2 story building with stairs to the second level. Plenty of parking all around the building. Gas stations,restaurants are nearby and the Exits to-95 is only a few 100 feet away. A good choice in Emoria, Va

Room a/c didn't cool - just fan working. Scratchy bottom sheet on a hard mattress (a fluffy mattress cover would help) The best thing is the extremely attentive breakfast lady. She is wonderful. The best we have seen at any hotel.

We excepted more from Best Western than a very humid room with a weird smell. Bathroom is a bit rusty and I hate when the sink is on the outside of the bathroom! Good thing the beds were comfortable and clean and breakfast was enjoyable.

Clean ourside and very easy from the highway to get to hotel. Lady at desk was so very kind, helpful and overall nice. Room was nice, clean, bed very comfortable. Interbet little slow but good overall. Everything worked properly in room and quiet overall. I will be bacl soon and enjoyed my stay.

When we pulled up to the hotel, wasn't sure I wanted to stay here at the Best Western in Emporia. The clerk at the Reservation Desk was unfriendly. At first she told us she had 1 room with a king bed on 2nd floor, then she had 2 doubles on the first floor. No elevator. She gave us a room on the first floor right by the pool which was very noisy. The AC was not working, so she transferred us to another room. All of a sudden, these rooms became available. We only were staying 1 night as we were driving down south, so we stayed.

Staff polite and helpful, but building is a little shabby and fixtures in room were somewhat worn. Closet door would not open so I could not hang my clothing. The sink's faucet handle was so loose it nearly came off in my hands. The room's carpet felt somewhat sticky.

I had a terrible experience staying at this hotel my kids were uncomfortable they never cleaned the room the whole time we were there,the breakfast was good. When we complained about the room we were told that they would clean it the next day but never did. Never ever again

Nothing good to say except it is a convenient location. Outlets didn't work and were cracked and not secure. Definitely fire hazard. Front desk said nothing when I complained. Room was very musty and was old.

This is a motel we use for a rest stop on the way to Myrtle Beach - we are not looking for a palace - this Motel was clean - the Lobby was clean and bright the free breakfast was tasty and well stocked - it is right off I-95 south of Richmond - cheap gas and eats were close by - perfect for a rest stop

I was on my way to the beach and needed a rest stop free of the DC/Richmond traffic. The location of this motel is perfect, close to the highway and in a low traffic part of 95. The rooms are clean and has a decent free breakfast. I found the value to be above what the ratings reflect and would absolutely stay here again.

The hotel is easy to find just off the I-95 and has a nice exterior look. The reception area is large and very clean with the breakfast bar to your right. The rooms are very clean and the decor was dated but not shabby. The shower worked well and powerful. Location is within walking distance of a couple of good food outlets. The bed was a let down, but overall a very pleasant stay. The breakfast was outstanding. The food was hot tasted great and there was plenty of it, for seconds!

This is a horrible place to stay overnight or a quarter of a night..Imagine falling asleep and waking up to a room full of furry mold all over the carpet & worst of all it had accumulated on the comforter we were sleeping under..unless you're intospores & penicillin magnified X's 3 this is not the hotel for you..I'm suprised this place hasn't been condemned..Traveler's BEWARE!!..there will be mold to greet you or say farwell to you on you're departure..

we were welcomed by a very nice check in clerk who recommended good food in the area. the room was clean and beds were comfortable. couldn't ask for more on a one night stay!! we found parking near our room and the area was quiet and well lit.

Front desk person was very nice and helpful. Room was right by the pool. A little noisy. Room was clean. Beds were horrible. The hardest I have ever slept on. TV was just OK. Wifi internet was pretty slow. Breakfast was also OK. Eggs and sausage, waffles and good coffee. I won't be staying there again for that price.

When on a road trip, I always look for easy-on, easy-off hotels. Best Western Emporia is just that. My room was ready when I arrived at 2 pm. There are lots of fast food and sit-down restaurants within close proximity. Although the truck stop close by made it a bit noisy, the noise seemed to dissipate by midnight and started up again by 6 am. Requesting a room in the rear, might alleviate the noise factor. There was ample parking and the rooms were accessed by outside corridors. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful and the reception area inviting. The room was spacious, with carpeted floors, microwave and refrigerator and big screen television. The Wi-Fi was iffy and the room relatively clean. I considered the hotel to be adequate and competitively priced. Overall, no complaints.

We usually stay at Red Roof because of their generous pet policy. However, I booked the Best Western because it had better reviews. Mistake. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but clearly there had been smokers in it previously. The worst was the sink was stopped up. How do you clean a room and not notice that the sink is not draining??? Called the front desk and was told that maintenance was gone for the day but we could come down and get a plunger. Hubby did & cleared the clog, but it was really disgusting. Sorry, but we will stay at the Red Roof on our next trip north. It really can't be any worse! And there will be no additional charge for our little dog.

Nice room, good breakfast, nice pool, good staff. Good value for the money. Get a room on the back side of the hotel. Rooms on front side a little noisy from road noise. Not to far from a Walmart store.

Needed a pet friendly hotel close to RT 95 on our drive from FL to NH. This was by far the best hotel for that purpose that we have found. Close to highway, room was clean, beds were comfortable. We like the walk up to your door style as it was easier to bring the cat in. Breakfast was better than expected. I would recommend this to travelers who needs a nights sleep while traveling.

Although the staff was efficient at the front desk, not overly friendly. Lobby was clean and breakfast was about the same as most Best Westerns we have stayed at in the past, the room was clean, however badly in need of updating and a little shabby. We were heading south for vacation and had hoped to swim, but the pool out front was not open yet and very yucky to look at. (not good look for out front of the building where everyone has to drive by to check in!)

The hotel is very nice and clean and was very quiet at night. It was nice to have a frig and microwave in the room. Check in and out was fast and easy. Breakfast was great! Get up, eat, and be on your way! It was very easy to get off and back on I95.

We had a reservation in advance for our stay at this facility and had no way of knowing that this facility does not have elevators. We were given a second floor room and couldn't get a ground level room because they were full. The fact that they don't have elevators should be disclosed at time of reservation. so a ground floor level room could be requested in advance. We are senior citizens and had difficulty carrying our luggage upstairs. The person who checked us in obviously wasn't about to put forth any effort to help us. We are Platinum members of Best Western

I've stayed at this hotel several times and It's s always friendly and clean. The carpets and chairs are start so see some wear and stains, but clean comfortable beds. Bathrooms are cleaner than most, not perfect, but definitely doable. As for breakfast, it's a warming experience, there is a nice selection of hot food, and the lady who oversees the breakfast room is absolutely delightful; she is eager to fill your coffee cup, get you juice or milk, make you a waffle, or get you anything else which you might want. Just a completely pleasant experience!

as member of best western there are times when I am not able to preplan a reservation and have to "wing" a stay and I usually look for best western. with the experience had here on the car ride to new York, the return trip I avoided this best western. stay at Selma, NC last year much better hotel.

We always stay here on our trips to the south. It is the perfect location for our first night's stay from Delaware to South Carolina. We always ask for the same room and generally get it (a handicapped room) for ease of parking and the maneuverability in the bathroom. I would recommend it for any Best Western fan. There are several motels in the area, but this is always our best choice.

Excellent hotel, service and comfort. Great experience. We were traveling to South Carolina for a wedding and this stop over was perfect. We enjoyed the room and proximity to the highway. Easy access and booking experience was easy.

Staff seemed pretty friendly. Hotel was clean for the most part. Rooms were decent. Linen on and around bed was not the best. Repairs needed to be made in the rooms including a leaking sink. Toilet not flushing properly. Horrible internet.

We were on our way home to Mass from South Carolina. Needed a place to stay for one night. This place was great. Conveniently off the highway, clean, friendly staff and a great breakfast. There are a few places to dine in the area. We chose Five guys.

We use Best Western all the time + always get our money worth. We always enjoy the breakfast as it save us time when we are traveling. Most of time they have a news paper. Most of the time the motels are close to the express way.

The hotel needs updating and is over priced for what you get. It was very quiet. I had a pet friendly room and it was just okay. My dog could smell everything that had been there before. The breakfast was suffient.

The hotel is in a good location. Easy off and easy back on to continue your trip.Check in was great. personnel very nice and helpful. Room was nice beside the outside pool which we did not use as was just in the process of being opened. Kind of cool to par take at this time. Nice pool through. Rooms very nice with microwave and frig. Beds very nice and supplied a great nights sleep. Breakfast was very good with a good selection of hot and cold food and drink. There are some dining places in the area and more about a half mile up the road. This hotel was a very nice stay.

Room was clean, breakfast was good. Easy on/off from I-95. Only issue was fly and bug in the room. Front desk was concerned at check out and reduced room rate. They said they would ask their exterminator to pay special attention to the room.

This motel is what it is and that's clean, convenient, efficient, and good value. For that it probably deserves 5 stars but it obviously is not competing in the 5 star category. It wins no awards for elegance or first class service. But it gets my vote because it took 5 minutes to get me checked into a decent, clean room that cost $75. Badabing!

Great place to rest on your way North or South! Convenient and close to 95 and fast food close by! The staff was efficient and friendly, and the.breakfast was good! The breakfast lady was lovely and helpful.

This hotel was a clean, comfortable stop off of I95 on our way home. The price for the two of us and our dogs was well under$100. This is a very basic place. It is no frills but safe. The room was pleasant but the toilet in the bathroom was a bit slow.

This hotel has been has gone from about 3-4 star down to 2 star over the past few years. Price is going up, quality going down. We've been staying there for 10 years on our trips to and from Florida. The price keeps rising and the quality keeps falling. The last few years there are always small nagging problems. Since we arrive later in the evening, we don't want to be bothered with service people, so we just put upwith it, FOR NOW!!!

We were tired after a long drive. First the tub would not hold water. I called the front office and maintenance couldn't be called. On closer look, the tub was dirty. The heating/AC wasn't working. The next morning, our bill noted a 10% discount. I asked for 50% and received it. The building needs an outside facelift.

Room was shabby. Exterior was poorly maintained. Room was noisy. Breakfast so so. Stayed on trip to summer home and did not like this place one bit. It appears that Best Western has increased their prices but lowered their quality. I will be finding another hotel company in the future.

We appreciated the easy access to the Best Western off of I-95 after a long day on the road. It was nice to be able to park directly in front of our ground floor room, which was clean and comfortable and spacious enough for an overnight stay. We especially appreciated the lighting in the room which allowed for easy reading after dark. The bed and bedding made for a good night's sleep. The refrigerator was a welcome plus as were the microwave and coffee maker. In spite of the location near the highway, our room was quiet. We could walk to several choices of restaurants for a bite to eat and we chose the Five Guys hamburger place across the road. We were greeted in the morning by the neighborhood cat who seems to make a point of welcoming everyone as they pack their cars to leave. Breakfast was good and I was especially delighted to find a heart imprinted on my waffle when I took it out of the waffle-maker! Linda, in the breakfast room, was the most attentive attendant we have ever met in a motel! She made certain that everyone was well taken care of.

Good location, but I am sorry to say that our room smelled bad and their was a big stain on the rug. I did not ask for a different room as I carry a portable air cleaner with us and it was next door to my sister's room. I would probably not stay here again.

The Hotel was actually ( good ) it is the reception staff ( front desk ) that need customer service training. I did not get my e-mail confirmation, the morning after my stay I went to confirm my e-mail address because I need the Invoice sent. The reception confirmed it , I have had to call this Best Western to re-confirm my e-mail which really bothered them ... I only want an e-mail I am still waiting. during the call I clarified and confirmed my e-mail 3 times , what is it going to take ??

I was so tired. Had been driving for hours... all the lamp shades were very dirty.. the carpet needs redone. Sketchy area. Had a few places around to eat. Bathroom could have been redone. But it'll do for tonight.

cleaner room, and the musky smell, remove stains off walls. The Gym was disgusting!!!!(filthy mirrors, stink, no air flow, extremely dirty mirrors, and pumpkin seeds spit all over the mirror and floor, cups everywhere. Just unbelievable.

After staying in a BW in Lumberton NC (also a 2 diamond) that was wonderful, this was a letdown. The rooms were shabby and in dire need of refurbishing and it was $20 more! The king bed sagged in the middle, which did not lend itself to a decent night's sleep. The check-in clerk sauntered over to the counter from where she was sitting in the dining area texting. No greeting or smile, just a "Yeah?" I said we have a reservation and she said "name". Never a smile and when I made sure we were on the top floor, she said yep arournd the back of the building. We parked there and discovered we were on the side of the building meaning we had to repark the car to be closer to those stairs. The bathroom toilet tub area was smaller than an airplane bathroom. Very hard to get in and actually close the door. The room looked clean, but really shabby. The closet door did not open and there was no microwave which was supposed to be there. Breakfast was good, however, and the check out clerk was much nicer.

Not a bad place for the night. However, the room was dark and carpet felt damp. The light over the sink was broken. Breakfast was good for a hotel breakfast. Easy access off I95. Shoney's across the street.

Enjoyed our stay. Staff was great. We travel up and down the East coast twice a year and we are planning a trip to California and Hawaii. We do like to stay in Best Western hotels because we know they have a good value and are dependable. For the most part, they are clean and updated.

We stayed here one night on our way to Williamsburg Va. It was a Very Good Motel, Clean, Good Firm Bed as both of us have Back problems. The Breakfast selection was only average, but the food was good. The motel is very easy to find.

This hotel is OK for staying l night - as we did going North, then South back home - the bed was OK - our room lacked all the towels we needed for morning - only enough for ONE person and there were 2 of us - A/C worked good and parking in the rear was excellent -

This is the forth year I stayed here and it has been perfect every time, Very friendly staff, Good breakfast, Good Parking, Clean nice rooms, Flat screen TV and I will stay there nest trip up to Pennsylvania from Florida

We stayed over night and had a very nice stay. Bed was comfortable, AC was great, room was clean and it was quiet. Breakfast was great Lee Ann was very nice and helpful. We will come back when we can stay longer. Very happy with staff and stay.

I can't complain about anything. My experience at Best Western Emporia has always been great one. I had a very nice stay overall this last visit as I always do. Employees are great. The pool is nice. The rooms are always clean.

Stopover for 1 night sleep. Arrived after 11 which meant had to check in the outdoor service window. However it went quick. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable. Pillows were small and lumpy. A/C was quiet and efficient. Shower was fine. Continental breakfast had everything needed. All in all a good place to stay for a night.

Spent one night here several years ago, it was OK. A budget choice, OK for people traveling north or south on I-95 who wanted a quick and inexpensive room for one night. On our recent visit we learned that this place has been going downhill. Rooms starting to look dumpy, the air conditioning machine in the room was working but it wheezes all night. The mold on the shower tiles was too much for my wife- she says never again. I hope for the hotel staff's sake the owners spend some money to fix this place up.

Staff was great. Quality of the hotel rooms were bad. Our door barely shut and you could tell it was damaged. Carpet in the room was sticky and whatever it was on the carpet got on the bottom of my shoes. Room was poor quality especially for the price.

First impression was not good. Arrived 12:30am and found the lobby doors locked. For security you register through a service window. It keeps the hotel staff safe but leaves you standing alone outside. Otherwise the hotel and staff were a good deal for the price.

Nice comfortable room and great free breakfast. Bathroom could have been cleaned better as there were hairs in tub and on floor. Staff was very professional and efficient. Nice pool, too. Climate control was quiet and efficient.

I chose this motel because of location and price, and got just what I expected. While traveling north from Georgia with the grandkids we were looking for a for a stay approximately 5 hours from the Lewes- Cape May NJ ferry. This motel is quick access to I-95 so for location it couldn't be any better. We got a room with two queen size beds that was ample in size. The major negative was the carpeting was in need of a good shampooing. If not for this I would have given it 4-stars.

The drive from Augusta to Annapolis is too much for us and our two dogs, so we stop at a motel on the way home. We'd been stopping at a motel in Petersburg, but this time decided to try a different place. The location of the Best Western is excellent. It's adjacent to several gas stations, convenience stores, and restaurants Across the road there are even more restaurants to try. The room itself was roomy and comfortable with two queen beds and a chair with Ottoman. There was also a small microwave, a mini fridge, and an iron. The beds weren't luxurious but comfortable enough for us to get a restful sleep for the night. In the morning the free breakfast is a welcome extra. Our stay was quiet with the dogs seldom having any excuse to bark. All staff were very friendly and courteous. Our toilet stopped up once. When I went to the office to ask for the plunger, the lady immediately gave me one and apologized profusely. After the one plunge there were no more problems. The bathroom is small but nice. There was no fan in the bathroom We'll be stopping here again on our next trip.

We decided to stay at the Emporia Best Western mostly because of its location and positive experience with other Best Westerns. The facilities located within walking distance are terrific. It's a very quiet motel with very friendly and helpful staff. Its not the Ritz, but we were very pleased with the accomodations.

Told us when we called hours in advance they only had one room left. When we arrived they offered us 1st or 2nd floor. We chose 2nd floor when we went to the room the a/c didn't work . Put us in another room...thought they only had one room left? Otherwise so so B/W place needs update. o.k. for a night.

We checked on May 27-30 on vacation. The rooms were nice, breakfast was good and the most part the staff was friendly. But when I asked who appeared to be the head housekeeper for "2" towels it obviously was a problem because she ignored me and walked away. If I'm not mistaken the name on her tag read "Lucille". But another housekeeper stepped in and was very helpful. Overall it was a nice stay but next time we might just bring our own towels. Maybe the owner should have a talk with management about better customer service.

We stopped here for a quick stay on our way to North Carolina. We chose it because we could stay there with our dog. The room was tidy and clean, and adequate for our purposes. However, it had a dog odor, the room felt musty and the bathroom was small. Fine for someone traveling with a pet.

This is a clean, comfortable hotel. If you're heading south stop here for the night. Beds comfortable, rooms clean. Breakfast good. Restaurants close by gas,stations. Quiet area. Going to stop here on way home.

We have been staying at this Best Western for quite a few years. We stay whenever we are traveling to NY for family events, and we have always been very happy with the employees as well as with the quality of the rooms. This is also a pet-friendly business which also appealed to us for many years.

Not for the fussy. Basic clean room for an inexpensive overnight conveniently located on the I-95 corridor. Gas stations and restaurants closeby. They have breakfast included, but we are on the road before its available. Ice, refrigerator, pool, wifi.

I've stayed at many Best Westerns along the east coast, this one how ever was not the best or even up to par with the others. Hotel needs a major face lift, old, tired and shabby. Carpet was dirty and needs at minimum a cleaning, really should be replaced. never once put my bare feet on it. Breakfast was lackluster to say the least. Employees were friendly and helpful.

We always stop there for the past 3 years when we are traveling to other states. we like the breakfast buffet and also many restaurant to choose from for dinner, and gas station to fill up. Everyone should check it out. We enjoy this place very much

Our choice of motel is always the Best Western in Emporia, Va when we travel to and from Florida. Where else can you get a wonderfully clean and modern room with an awesome bed, and breakfast, too, for $71.99 plus tax. None better!

I stayed at this hotel for approx. 3 weeks and found it comfortable and safe. The breakfast was always hot and very good. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, it was clean and comfortable. Staff was very courteous and helpful in every way. They would go out of there way to make sure I was comfortable. I will definitely stay here again if my travels bring me through.

This hotel was not only well within our price range for the area, it was extremely clean, had all the amenities you would look for and the staff were ALL happy, helpful and knowledgeable. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!

we do a lot of traveling for pleasure, we always look for a Best Western hotel and will go a few extra miles to get to one. Only time we do not use Best Western is if there is none close by. We had to stay in two other motels this trip and they just do not measure up for price and service!!

The room was exceptionally clean. Nice. So, we "thought" when we woke up the breakfast would be from good to great as well. WRONG. Not one bite was good enough to eat. If we "could have had" the waffles, it might have been okay. But dietary restrictions limited our choices to the scrambled eggs and sausage: both of which tasted "fake" to say the least!

For those traveling between NE such as NY, NJ, CT etc. this is a great stop heading to and from FL. The hotel is literally within distance from i95. Great rate, super clean room without smell, good quick hot breakfast to get you started. Staff were also great. Not fancy but my family felt comfortable and safe at this stop.

We arrived late in the evening on our way down 95. We had stopped at this rest area the last time, but chose a different chain. We were very satisfied with the service at the late hour. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever had in a highway hotel.

My boyfriend and I tried to stop here on our way back from Florida. DO NOT STAY HERE. The lobby wasn't open at 12am and there was a random guy near us being strange as we checked in. We got to our room and the door barely opened and then it barely locked from the inside. We left and got a refund. Not a good area or place to stay at.

Needed a place near 95. This was right off the exit. Lobby nice and clean and checkin was very fast. Room was clean and beds comfortable. No whacky smells. Breakfast was good with plenty of hot and cold choices. I would stay here again especially for the nearness to 95.

This hotel was clean but rather run down. Had we known that there was no elevator and that the rooms all opened to the outside, we would not have stayed here. The noise woke us up at 5:30 and continued non stop. Our room door, which oped out onto ground level did not close properly.

Traveling up and down I-95 from CT to FL is a long trip. We stayed at this Best Western one night. It was reasonably priced, very clean, and had a friendly staff. Breakfast in the morning is included in the price which is a big plus. I will definitely stay here again in the future.

My son and I were taking a trip and I knew we'd need to stop over and get some rest. I reserved this room via the website and turns out it was the best decision ever. Nice and quiet. Bed slept like a dream and our waffles at breakfast were pretty tasty too.

Comfortable hotel--easy access to I-95--pleased this hotel was selected for this trip stop over.Will probably select this hotel on future trips southbound. This was first experience with the Best Western Hotel grouping, will not hesitate to use them again.

we are very happy with them even after we complain about a dog that was barking who wouldn't stop with nobody in the rooms the clerk change our room and gave a suite for the same price. We will go again because we were treated very well thank you again

We are so glad we chose this hotel. It was very clean and modern and right off 95 in a quiet area. There is a Shoney's across the street with a great salad bar. Emporia is the perfect midway point if you are traveling from New England to Florida.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Beds were comfortable and had a good nights rest. Breakfast was good and not bad food selection. I would stay here again. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends.

The room was overpriced for what was provided. The door handle didn't open the door without a lot of wiggling and jiggling to get the door to open. The water pressure in the shower was very poor. The toilet didn't flush properly and barely went down after several flushes. The closet door rubbed on the carpet and wouldn't open or close without forcing it hard.

Good location off Interstate 95, Clean rooms and good breakfast. Fast Internet access. Very friendly and efficient staff. Very comfort sleeping accommodation with good amenities. Should definitely stay there again and recommend the Hotel to others.

This is an older hotel, with no accessible parking near the office door, a limited breakfast bar and very small, dated rooms....Staff were all great but everything else, in the hotel needs an upgrade. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it, when there are comparably priced hotels nearby, that are much nicer.

wonderful staff clean im on the road a lot. this is a nice place to stay breakfast was fresh my husband likes a comfortable chair to sit in one was in room. the lady at the breakfast actually came to our table to refill our coffe cups

Frontdesk cleck wasn't welcoming, breakfast awful but cleck in morning room gave good service and smile, room was ok but old fashion comfort, modern tv...bathroom ok but not great. One of the worst Best Western I've ever visited.

best western is my favorite for pet friendly hotels because it is clean, roomy and comfortable while still allowing pets. also quiet and in good neighborhoods. thanks for the excellent service and pet friendly environment. also, great free breakfast saved us about $20/ day.

We had travelled a long way and were just coming off Interstate when we saw the sign. Pouring rain made our drive a lot more stressful than usual. This hotel was just fine. We had nice comfy beds and it was neat and clean. Mary at the front desk was very pleasant to us. Didn't sample the breakfast as we left early. All in all it was just what we needed for a quick overnight stay on the way to Florida.

Used my points for a free night. Room was ok except that bi-fold door on closet was not adjusted correctly and would not open. Shower control had a major leak and spurted water straight out of the control and this made the shower itself weak. Beds were very comfortable but pillows were awful. Luckily I had my own pillow from home. My wife did not and she was very unhappy with the pillows.Breakfast was very good with a great variety of items to eat and drink. Hotel is right off I-95 and easy to get to. Several restaurants nearby and also a shopping center with a food market. Very quiet location.

Glad we chose this motel. So easy to find. We were given a room in the back. We are seniors too and, like the other person who reviewed said, we like being able to park right outside the room. The room was quiet, had lots of room, good internet access, and was clean. The free breakfast was in the lobby and it exceeded our expectations by even having scrambled eggs, sausages and make your own waffles. A lady was looking after it and she was doing a good job seeing that things were full. The only thing that could have been better was the coffee.

Nothing fancy but clean and very quiet. We prefer hotels/motels that we can drive right up to our door as we're both older adults and it's much easier to unload and reload our car without dragging things through a lobby, into an elevator and down a hall. We found the beds comfortable, the bathroom was spotlessly clean. Would definitely recommend, especially for those who still like this type of motel. We wish more chains would bring these types back.

This particular hotel was clean, no repairs were needed and the staff was courteous and very helpful. The breakfast was good and always kept fresh and filled. Will stop here again! We are seniors and the front desk person made sure that our room was easy to get to and the breakfast lady was spectacular!

We were not satisfied with this hotel due to the fact that when my husband, children and I went to lay down a roach ran across the nightstand and we don't know if there were more. Because of that we were disgusted and couldn't sleep. We still had another 5 hours to drive to complete our trip so it was extremely aggravating to get no sleep. The appearance wasn't so great either. Never again! Especially for that price!

Was a good stay overall. As expected for the reasonable price. We arrived late, tired from driving all day. The staff was professional and welcoming. The room was clean and well equipped. Continental breakfast the next morning was not great but adequate, made much better by a super friendly older lady with a charming southern accent that was constantly making sure everything was stocked and checking on the guests to fill our coffee.

We were traveling home from a Florida vacation and saw the sign for this Best Western. We are members of the Best Western Club and usually stay at a Best Western Plus or Premier hotel. This is their bottom tier hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel was very clean but dated. I would consider it average. We got off the road from a long day of traveling and it was fine for one night. The beds were very hard and my wife and I did not sleep well on them. I would tell them to consider new mattresses for comfort. They served a full breakfast in the morning which was good and what we expected. I would not consider it for an extended stay.

We stayed 1 night Nov 16, 2016 Easy on & off 95. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. There were several restaurants nearby.Being on a main road it was a little noisy but OK. The Breakfast was good large variety of selections. Staff was courteous. Only complaint was the door to the room was hard to operate had to swipe the card a few times & my husband had to push hard to open & close.

I ALWAYS try to find a Best Western when traveling and need a place to spend the night. The reason I do this, is because I know the rooms will be clean, the breakfast will be good and the wifi is free. Everyone is always helpful and nice too! Why chance stopping just anywhere when I can stop at a Best Western and be confident of the value and cleanliness!

Just as before, we found a clean spacious room. The bed was very comfortable. Everything was in good condition and good working order, with all courtesy supplies available. We had a delicious breakfast, with fresh ingredients. All this at a reasonable price. This is the second time we stayed here, and we will definitely do so again. The hotel is located right off I-95 which is ideal for us.

Good overnight stop. Room was clean and comfortable bed. Liked the parking in front of room. HBO channel didn't work. Staff very accommodating with special request for room on lst floor and parking in front. Breakfast was ok - nothing special.

Great value - easy on easy off of 95 with nice rooms great beds and a good selection for breakfast. internet worked well and there was a great work table in the room for me to work. The room was very clean with plenty of new towels and had one of the biggest refrigerators I have seen in a Best western. Shared my room with my elderly parents who were seasoned travelers as well and for the price it was perfect for our half way point to our Savannah trip. Exterior and the landscaping were very well maintained and the staff were Very friendly.

Stopped here for an overnight rest while heading north. The woman at check in had the personality of a door knob, but that's ok....can deal with that....upon entering our room, the door was wide open...we called the front desk to make sure that was our room, and was told " sometimes the doors don't shut completely.." oh well, we just made sure to shut it tight as we left for dinner....came back, slept ok . BUT ! After getting out of the shower the next morning, something caught my eye and lo and behold ! Cockroaches crawling up the wall by the closet !!! Ugh ! Needless to say, we very quickly got dressed, hoped none crawled into our bags, and decided to have a quick cup of coffee and a bite before we hit the road..( thinking of it now, that was a brave move, who knows what was crawling in the kitchen area ! ) my husband grabbed a biscuit, was hard as a rock, and the waffle maker was disgustingly dirty....we could not get out of there fast enough ! We mentioned the cockroaches to the desk clerk while checking out, her reply ?"Sorry bout that ma'am "..never even looking up from the computer...I 95 never looked so good ! Never will stop there again...we were really surprised at this because we've never had a problem with any other Best Westerns...

leaving altoona pa at 915 am 10 28 ..and 8 hour of driving.....needed sleep so pull into this motel... have been here 5 times before...always had good room for a good price...after a pizza from sal's ny style pizza .....went to sleep....room 110 was very nice......after nice sleep and free breakfast we left at 800am heading south to next hotel in richmond hill ga

Desk staff more concerned with their personal phone calls than with answering questions. Traffic noise was bad at night. Not up to a Best Western quality. The fitness room was the only good thing about the hotel.

spend the extra $25 and go somewhere else. We had 3 rooms they were clean but the beds are terrible. the 1/2 pillows are a terrible idea. they must have sprayed a bottle of air freshener in the room to cover what smell?? had ti fix the sink drain also.for a Best Western I expected a lot more.

Nice sized room with 2 comfortable queen beds and multiple pillows. The location has pluses and minuses. It is convenient to I-95, but all the rooms face and are somewhat close to US 58, which is busy and noisy (with trucks) until about 11PM. Noise resumes about 6:30AM, but we were up and ready for the free breakfast. Breakfast was good enough, but I've had better choices at some other hotels. Overall, this was a satisfactory hotel for an unplanned and unreserved overnight stay. A coupon in a rest area guide made the cost $60.95 (plus tax).

The facility was recently renovated and my room was in great condition and clean. The front desk staff made check in and check a breeze. The hotel is located close to restaurants and just off of the Interstate for convenience when traveling.

This was the nastiest, dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed at. The room smelled like mold and mildew. The furniture was so stained and scuzzy I had to cover it with the bedding before I could even sit down. I found several species of bugs in the room and bathroom which was in need of a good scrubbing to remove the black mildew..it was disgusting! The only reason I did not leave was that my elderly father was settled into the handicapped room next door. Oh - did I mention the non-existing wi-FI? Or rooms stocked with decaf coffee only?
