« Great Accommodation Close to the Station »

I booked two nights in a quiet room and that's what I got. Very pleased with the room and the breakfast served hot food as well as the normal continental one. Had an issue the first morning which was very promptly addressed by the manager during the day, so can't fault the service.

    « Quite good »

Hotel i quite good, but there is noise in the room coming from the road by the train station. The area is typical for train station. There is a big, free parking. Breakfast is ok and the internet connection works correctly.

    « 1-night stop over »

Decent enough hotel for the price. Very friendly & helpful reception staff. Excellent English spoken. Family room for 4 was fine. TV had lots of channels! Walk to the central cathedral took 15 mins (with 2 kids). Breakfast option not taken so can't comment but the price did seem a little steep tbh. Location wise - directly opposite the SNCF, very easy to find by car too. The free parking was a real plus also. Overall, for a short stopover without frills, for business or pleasure, I'd recommend.

« A rather charmless... but just about adequate downtown hotel »

This Best Western Hotel Lafayette is located near to the station on the unattractively named Soviet Union Avenue. It has it's own little rear courtyard for parking off-street (free) and - for a "downtown" location in the middle of Clermont Ferrand - the price of €82 for a small nondescript double room is probably reasonable value.

« Mediocre at the best. »

Stayed here for a one night stop en route from the Cevennes to Brittany. 'Family' room was a standard double with a put you up settee. Air conditioning didn't work (extremely hot at the time) We didn't risk the breakfast. Staff were friendly.

« Decent value, would recommend »

This was an overnight stop, chosen specifically for the off road parking, which actually is very secure. Room was clean and breakfast spread OK. Staff friendly and helpful. No eateries nearby and a bit of a trek to the restaurant area in the town, through dark streets. Very handy if travelling by train. Worth recommending for brief stop overs.

« Good hotel for one night »

We stayed here for one night on our way to southern France. The hotel was good enough for one night. The most import thing (and the reason we choose this hotel) is the fact that they have a secure parking lot for free. You can park your car completely safe behind the hotel. The parking lot is locked during the night so only residents can enter it. The hotel room was decent. The rooms do have a bath, a small desk with a TV and a small bed. The bed is only 1m40 wide, a bit too small for two people, but because it was only for one night it was oke. The staff were friendly and efficient. We didn't take the breakfast but it looked good from what we saw. A good hotel for one night but definitely not a hotel to spend your holiday.

« One night en route »

Very helpful staff who arraged gluten free food for me in advance. Breakfast was excellent and the only disappointment was a slight smell of cigarette smoke in the room on arrival. Hotel is ideally located for those travelling by train as we were.

« poor value for money »

This hotel has a few saving graces. It has a secure par park that you have to specify when you book. The staff were lovely. The fittings and bed were fine but the room is very small and the skill and ingenuity used to squeeze a bath and shower into such a small space has to be admired.. But on the down side the room was noisy from other guests going to their rooms. no joke when a family with young kids is sharing two rooms! Call me an old curmudgeon but after 11:00 it should be quieter. The air con works, just but makes an infuriating noise all night. Also, on the plus side the breakfast was excellent and good value. Dinner is not served here but they recommend the restaurant next door which was pretty good if suffering from delusions of grandeur and a little expensive. Again lovely staff help save the evening, Compared to other better cheap hotels the room price is far too high. I expected better. its also in quite a rough area opposite the railway station, not that we felt threatened or anything but its not a very spruce part of Clermont. Hope this helps.

« Good hotel, friendly staff »

Good hotel. We went in a group of 6 persons, divided in 3 rooms. Some of those rooms had a renovated bathroom, one didn't. Rooms are small, but okay if you just want to sleep and visit the centre. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Free parking. Fairly long walk to the centre. I recommend taking the bus or car.

« Convenient for the station »

We stayed here for one night, a Friday. The hotel is close to the railway station is about 100 metres away. Check-in went smoothly by s receptionist who spoke good English. There is a car park at the rear of the hotel which seemed to get quite busy as the evening progressed - but we never used it. The room was fairly small but clean and modern. The TV wax maybe a little too large for the size of the room. Most channels are in French but there was BBC Workd news and CNBC in English. The bathroom was a little dated and could do with modernising. However, it was clean ( save for the few stray hairs around the bath). The hotel room had air-conditioning - a welcome relief from the hot Clermont temperatures in July. Breakfast was an extra 11 Euros and consisted of a buffet of standard European faryev- cheese, bread, ham, pastries etc. The Wi-Fi worked perfectly whilst we were there. We made full use of the 12:00 check out time and walked into Clermont Ferrand which took about 25 minutes (mostly uphill). There is a tram line about a 8 minute walk from the hotel where you can get a tram into town for 1.50 Euros.

    « Has changed a bit »

Last time I was here was my first trip to France maybe 15 years ago. This time I ended up here by accident but found everything to be OK. I had room that had been smoked in even though the hotel is nonsmoking since 2014. Otherwise my room was comfortable and modern. Breakfast was better than most places with a reasonable selection. The service was good and the parking is easy and convenient. It was almost full each night but I managed to find a spot. Right next to the gare so a little busy and loud but no problems once you close the windows. The price is right her for what you get.

    « super stop over »

we have used this hotel now 4 or 5 times for our stop over en route from the UK to Spain. Every time it's a wonderful experience. Particularly the cleanliness, sleep comfort, and the secure parking for the car make this a great stop over hotel.

« Best value & service for money »

If you need a hotel near the train station, this hotel should be your choice without hesitation. Friendly staff, clean and comfortable. The wifi did not work all the time for my phone, but the staff was very helpful to provide a new code
