    « Great Chicago Value »

Close to everything in Chicago! Great value. Moderately priced parking. $25 Cross the street from a mega McDonalds. Walking distance to Michigan Ave (Miracle Mile). We have stayed here several times. Best value is Downtown Chicago!

    « Can't beat the parking convenience & location! »

This was our second time staying at Best Western River North and we really enjoyed our stay. The location is excellent, walking distance to so many different places & attractions. Also, you just cannot beat the parking situation for a downtown Chicago location. We had stayed here before when it was free, but I certainly don't mind the $25 charge. We price hunted around and couldn't find anywhere for less than $50-60 a night for parking, not to mention most other places it's valet with no access to your car! Here, we had the luxury of walking to our car as much as we'd like to place bags in the trunk so that we didn't' have to keep carrying them. Also, they are great in being flexible on times. We arrived in the morning before our room was ready and we were still allowed to park there, no problem. Our room was clean & updated, no complaints there. Overall, can't beat the location & value of parking with the Best Western! Would definitely stay again.

« Very nice, good location »

This was a very location for visiting tourist sites in the Chicago area. Near bus and train routes to airport and downtown. Andre and Wallace were great. There is a pool in the main building on the rooftop. We spent three days there and have no complaints. We would stay there again.

« Location, Service, Comfortable and A Great Value ! »

My wife and I were in Chicago for three days and 2 nights and stayed here for the first time. We loved the walk ability and access to Michigan Ave. and many restaurants. The rooms were well maintained with very comfortable mattresses. The parking was very reasonable for downtown Chicago @ $25 a day. It was well worth the stay.

« Amazing customer service for our 40th anniverary getaway »

My wife and I spend 4 days in the city for a little getaway before we headed off to our winter place in Florida. We landed upon Best Western River North Hotel and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Danielle was absolutely amazing and she made us at home from the moment we met her. Thank you to the entire Best Western River North staff and again Danielle deserves special recognition as she went above and beyond for us. We highly recommend this hotel if visiting Chicago as it's clean, friendly and location is prime for walking to the best restaurants in the city. Thanks again, Clyde and Sara

« Wonderful stay in Chicago »

Our stay at the Best Western was great. The pizza at the hotel restaurant, Pizzeria Oro, was fantastic! We ate there several times and ordered breakfast delivered by room service. The proximity to the red line was perfect and we even walked to Michigan Ave for shopping.

    « Excellent experience »

I had a bad experience at the Ohio House across the street. I called the Best Western to see if they had availability and they did. I walked across the street and checked in. It was awesome. Thank you

    « Nice Mid-priced Hotel »

First off, yes...this is an older hotel. It is a Best Western, not the Hyatt. There are little inconveniences like stairs to get into the lobby. ***ALSO*** They charge a $50 a day incidental fee UPFRONT. I just stayed there over the weekend and I was NOT expecting that. Nor was I expecting them to run the entire weekend UPFRONT either. Despite what they told me, not all Best Westerns do that, or charge that high of an incidental fee. Heart attack aside, they were very nice. I wasn't impressed with Anthony the concierge tho'. And yes, the street side is VERY noisy. Luckily the fan drowned out most of the noise. The bed was comfortable enough. The restaurant attached was nothing to scream about, but the food didn't suck. Call me a hick, but I missed the waffle iron. Everything downtown is with a $10 cab fare or less, distance. I bought a 24hr CTA pass. You can take all the trains, subways and buses you want. It can also take you to and from the O'Hare. I enjoyed seeing all the different scenery, from different vantage points. This what it does have...A great location, at a great price. Cabs were easy to get and there was plenty of places to eat at within walking distance. An no. I didn't eat at the Mega-McDonald's across the street.

    « At the heart! »

Location is everything... Just like every other best Western hotel this one also keeps up to the name. Right in front of rock and roll McDonald's it's a good hotel. Everything at walking distance. Rooms are good, small though. Staff is indeed awesome!!! Overall a stay and smiling faces...

« Excellent Location, Convenient Parking, Clean »

We love this hotel. Not a lot of frills, but convenient, safe and clean. We recognize staff from previous years and we always enjoy our time here. It's a 2 block walk to the "L" (subway/train) and very close to major shopping, bars, attractions. I do wish they still offered a continental breakfast or snacks and free parking - corners have been cut over the years - but it's still one of our favorite Chicago locations. It's conveniently located, parking is very reasonable, and it's clean. The indoor pool is also good-sized. Our son loves it.

    « Nice Place...Remember It's Best Western »

Chuckled at the "don't expect luxuries" review. It's a Best Western. We had nice large suites with a coffee maker and fridge. Excellent location within easy walking distance of tourist spots, shopping, etc.

« Great hotel for the price »

We loved this hotel. The staff was very friendly. The baggage hold service was great and we were able to sight see without having to take our luggage with us everywhere. We booked early and got a great price. The rooms were also updated, which was great. One issue with the hotel was that they don't have complimentary breakfast since they are connected to a restaurant. Our other issue was that the walls were paper thin. I could clearly hear the guests in the next room's conversation. Also, we could hear every step the guests that stayed above us took. It was very annoying when we were trying to sleep.

    3
« Ok hotel, don't expect any luxuries »

I stayed here for a couple of nights visiting a tradeshow. Hotel looks old on the outside and even though the rooms are well decorated, they can use some update, specially the bathroom. There is a restaurant at the lobby that offers room service. Prices and quality of the food were good. Overall ok hotel but expensive for your typical Best Western, specially because the breakfast was not included.

    4
« Good location. Great option. »

We used that hotel for the Chicago marathon weekend, and was a good idea. The start and the finish line to the marathon was near to the hotel. The saturday, for the International 5K run, the start line was ubicated at 6 blocks to the BWH. Are many and good restaurants and cultural places to go nearby. The restaurant has good plates (pizza, pasta and others options) and good options for everybody. The breakfast was really good.

« Two night stay for a concert »

Stayed here in early October for 2 nights when we flew to Chicago for a concert. The two of us shared a room with two double beds with a friend. The room was clean and in working order and big enough for three adults. The bathroom was fine as well, average size. The wifi worked well, staff was nice and the location was great as well...really close to major tourist attractions or the subway station to get you there. The biggest beef was the fact that breakfast wasn't included. We generally stay at BW due to points so we came to expect that most of them include breakfast. Maybe this is just not the case in Chicago in general. If you stay here and you are arriving on the blue line from O'Hare, please don't get off at the blue Grand station. That will put you nowhere near the hotel, and if you're coming with suitcases, you'll be more than a mile away from the hotel. You need to make a transfer to the red line and get off at the red Grand station. That is the one that is the closest to the hotel. We didn't know that and made that mistake when we arrived. Chicago has a slightly confusing way of naming their subway stations. They reuse the same station names on multiple colored lines and the stations are nowhere near each other so you can't transfer between them, as you'd suspect from other cities. Nevertheless, Chicago was very cool and we can't wait to go back. We would most likely stay at this hotel again.

« Very Old and Expensive »

VERY very old hotel. It looks bad from the outside and inside, the only area that looks nice is the lobby, other than that it looks like a very cheap motel. I had a very annoying buzzing noise coming from of the wall lights even after I closed it. Talked to the reception about it but nothing changed. Overall the room was ok, the bed was comfortable. When I came to check-in, the employee barely told me where my room was, she didn't bring up anything about where the facilities are located. One very annoying thing, I woke up and found that someone glided my checking-out receipt from the door!! I've never seen this anywhere before in my life.! But on the other hand, the location was ok. It had many restaurants around it and only 10 minutes walk from the Magnificent Mile. For people with cars, the hotel had parking for approximately $40/night which is considered very reasonable for Chicago.

    « An adequate hotel »

Staff were friendly especially Wallace the front man who did everything he possibly could to be helpful, even running out to redirect us when he thought we were going the wrong way. Room was clean, bed comfy. Our neighbours were extremely noisy at 2 am and despite ringing the desk to complain, nothing was done. Same happened the next night, Showers clean and good, Swimming pool fine. Would stay again, hotel was within easy reach of everywhere! Reasonably priced. Breakfast was fine again reasonable in price. We were given a token for the bar which also was reasonably priced. I think you can tell its all in the price for me.!!

    4
« Great staff, very helpful. Room was clean and comfortable »

Bed was very comfortable. Located within walking distance of Mag Mile and GREAT restaurants! The staff was very helpful when trying to navigate locations we wished to visit. Getting to the room was somewhat confusing but the staff helped a LOT!

    2
« Don't expect anything above and beyond »

The bed was nice is about all I can say about this hotel. Don't expect a lot. Make sure you are aware of any and all additional fees that they may add to your bill. Don't expect a working bathroom or a good view from the room. The bathroom is exceptionally tiny. and the entrance to the room is a tiny hallway that you have trouble maneuvering in.

    5
    « So I suppose you'll have that »

This was my second stay at this property and I plan to make it my go-to hotel when I am in Chicago. It's older (think 60's era motor court), but it's been tastefully updated and meticulously maintained. That heritage also means it was designed by an architect rather than an accountant. So the building layout makes ergonomic sense and the property has an intimate feel. You don't feel like you're tripping over every other guest. It's a great location, in the middle of an entertainment district, a few blocks from the Miracle Mile and the Clark/Lake ?L? station. There is a huge Mickey D's across the street and the attached Pizzeria Ora serves up perfectly acceptable meals in a relaxed atmosphere. Nice touches: Stairwells are carpeted and immaculate, which is good because there are only a few stories and you tend to use them. In-room safes The bell caption was orienting some first timers on how to use the ?L? when I arrived Stuff I never missed: In-room refrigerator (there was vending and an ice machine on the same floor) Free continental breakfast (I've never had one that was worth the calories) Soaring atrium The only con: The parking lot across the street is a staging area for motor coaches and the occupants were partying well into the wee hours. A few miles North, the Cubs were playing in the World Series, surrounded by 300,000 die-hard fans, so I suppose you'll have that.

« Excellent location at a reasonable price for Chicago »

This hotel wasn't inexpensive but by Chicago standards, it was reasonable. It's within walking distance of all the major attractions. They don't have a free breakfast buffet but their restaurant does have breakfast at a reasonable price. My only complaint was check-in. They claimed my room wasn't ready but I sat in my cousin's room across from my room for nearly an hour and no one came or went, and the room was suddenly available at 3pm. Also parking is not free as advertised in the AAA guide. There's a roof pool too.

    « vacation WE »

Excellent location. My second time in this hotel. Good and reflecting pricing. When the neighbors were loud at night, front desk came up promptly and took care of the problem. Would go back. Cleanliness acceptable. Hallways not so nice but I was not interested in them.

    « Quality »

Great hotel with restaurant on site and across the street from hop on hop off bus. Ideal for sightseeing. Staff are excellent and very friendly. All in all this made our first visit to Chicago perfect experience.

    « Second visit--excellent again. »

We chose to stay at the BWRN because of our excellent experience last June. The staff all remembered us and sincerely seemed to be glad we were back. Again, Wallace was right there at the door to greet us and make us feel welcome and valued. DeAndre got us into just the right room quickly and took care of our every request. Jamie and Danielle always met us with a pleasant demeanor and plenty of smiles. Dolores, the manager, made certain that we not only felt important, but that she genuinely cared about our visit. Justin, one of the building engineers remembered us as well, and checked to see if we had whatever we needed. This is a real value in the city considering the location to so many dining opportunities and the bus stops so close by. We had the King Deluxe room again, an extremely large room, with a refrig., and plenty of space. We are already looking forward to returning.

    5
    « Location, location »

Really can't beat the location of the hotel! Walking distance to most sites and shopping, not to mention great Chicago eats (Portillos, Al's beef are a few minutes walk). Affordable stay with friendly and accommodating staff. Overall, would recommend this hotel.

« Love the Best Western River North Hotel »

Stayed here 4 nights Oct. 2016 & highly recommend it. Safety & location were very important and this area was perfect-safe to walk in (wasn't out late at night) and good area near stores & eateries . Portillo's-unique Chicago eatery- very close (great food, blah service), Big 24 hour McDonald's, Walgreens , post office, even Anti Cruelty Society (go in and love on animals awaiting adoption) across the street-excellent location. Easy walk to Michigan Ave. too. Didn't need or ask for help with tourist tips but all staff were ALWAYS very nice, friendly &helpful-including by phone when made reservations-for any hotel related ?s. Nice lobby sitting area & convenient computers to use. Great view from 6th floor of the city-fun to see at night (since unfortunately the rooftop terrace was closed for renovations). Stayed in main bldg.-felt safer since 24 hour lobby registration desk there. Room comfy & good size. (2 beds). Indoor pool looked nice but didn't use . No panhandlers around like on Michigan Ave..

    « Good Hotel »

Being a rewards member we were given a free upgrade to a suite on the top floor. This sounds grander than it actually was, but it was appreciated for our two night stay. It was on the 3rd floor and consisted of a small sitting room. separate bedroom with king bed and bathroom. It was very clean and had a view of the city which was nice at night with all the lights. The corridor to the room had an odd layout as the room numbers didn't go in sequence. Renovation was being carried out during our visit, but this didn't impede our visit, although I was disappointed that the sundeck was closed during our visit. Being in the city we found it noisy at night which is to be expected. Within walking distance of Magnificent Mile and Navy Pier. Wallace, the concierge, sorted tickets for the hop on hop off trolley which picked up across the road from the hotel and we also did the night tour which was included. The Go Express shuttle collects and drops off at the hotel and is a cheaper option than taxi from the airport. Wallace also sorted this for us for our return to O'Hare. A good hotel in a convenient area

    5
    « Nice Place »

Hotel was in the ideal location with a good few eateries in the area. Very friendly helpful staff. Good size lobby with 2 computers & printer. There was also a tea/coffee marker there to. Room was clean & tidy, it was also a good size room. We used the CTA (metro) to get to/from airport which was only a short walk away (also had a lift to street level) but had to make 1 easy change on route. You can also walk to a lot of the attractions from here within reason.

    4
    « Nice hotel. »

Nice hotel in nice location of Chicago. Thought the price was a bit high, but that's to be expected for Chicago. Liked the contemporary look of the lobby and liked that free coffee was available at all times.

    4
    « Great location »

Loved the location of this hotel, as we could walk to many places during our visit to Chicago. Wish they had a hot tub, but the view from the pool was AWESOME and more than made up for it! I feel they closed the pool much too soon though. The staff were friendly, and we would gladly stay again.

    « WOW What a Great Place »

Awesome service first contact was Manager Sharliese she took all the time I needed to make sure my Anniversary trip was made properly never felt rushed at all. She is even took it upon herself to look up my rewards account to make sure I got credit for my stay. Spent the time to tell me exactly how close our dinner and concert venue was from the hotel. Stayed there many times before rooms clean service awesome you pretty much feel like your at a much higher priced resort. Sharliese Thank You for the great service!!!!!!!

« Good Place to Stay »

Our concierge WALLACE was the BEST. He made our first stay in Chicago go very well. He had many great recommendations. The rooms are just OK..but if you don't plan to spend alot of time in your room then you will be fine.

    5
    « Location Location Location »

Great location!!! Lots of choices to eat, also right across the street you can take the double decker tour bus which takes you every where. Big and clean rooms. Great customer service, did not have any problems. They even took care of our luggage so we can go sight seen before we can get into our room. Will stay here again.

    4
    « Good 3 night stay »

Stayed here for 3 nights on the 5th floor. It was fine for what we needed it for, place to sleep after being out all day. Decent size bed, clean, and nice staff. When getting a taxi back to airport just let front desk know and they put on a light on side of hotel taxi showed up with in a minute. Only thing that ruined it a bit for us was the absolute idiots arguing and slamming doors from about 3am for well over an hour. Would stay again if visiting Chicago.

« Comfortable stay in Chicago River North »

My family (2 seniors and 2 adults) and I enjoyed our 2 night stay at BW River North for our stay in Chicago. Surrounding the hotel are many choices for food w/ a McD right across the street 24-7. The location is a bit further compared to staying south of the river, but an extra 15 min walk away for a more economical yet good quality hotel was the trade-off. Excellent staff, pleasant and enjoyable to deal with. Our family also enjoyed taking a break in the lobby rest area where there are refreshments and seating.

    5
    « Great stay »

Chose this hotel because of its good price and its location (within walking distance of many sights). The relatively cheap price gave me doubts but was very impressed with everything from the helpful friendly check in and housekeeping staff to the large well equipped clean and comfortable room. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Stayed Many Times...Not Again...Too Many Hidden Issues »

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times...Rooms always clean, housekeeping very friendly, as are the wonderful bellmen. Can't give enough praises to them..Nice Pool....Close to everything downtown, that we loved doing...However, I have two issues, on this visit...First being, we have always had free parking...we had not been informed in advance, that was no longer the case...be prepared for $30 per night, and that is only to keep your vehicle in the lot....if you choose to take it out, $35 per night..If you leave your vehicle in, and opt for the $35, you do not get refunded...Next being, charged $50 each night for incidentals...that I understand, however not prepared for...which we did not use, and were refunded.....Next being, we were told, our card would not be charged, when we checked out...if we chose to pay in cash...another huge issue, my daughter's bank was over drawn, including the $50 per night...causing a huge hassle, to get it all worked out...I would like to see the desk employees, to be a bit clearer, on these issues...We were there on Oct 4-7th, 2016

« Great location, comfortable rooms. »

As Best Western members we were upgraded to a suite which was nice. Provided couch and chairs were we were able to entertain a local friend for a few hours. The bed was comfortable. The rooms were quiet. The only problem we had was with the keys. At check-in we had to return to the lobby twice because the keys didn't work. Turned out it was a known problem that had not be noted for the front-desk staff. The keys to the second room didn't work when we returned to the room the next day. Still we would stay here again. It is a nice place.

    « River North Fun »

Have stayed here many times -- consistent, clean, great location, reasonable price (in an expensive area). Walking distance to many Chicago attractions. In-house restaurant is okay, but the hotel is near so many wonderful places to eat/drink/relax. Place has an indoor pool and exercise room.

    4
« Great area, fun trip »

This is just a great area to stay in..close to so many places, and walkable. The hotel is old, but the floor and room we stayed in were remodeled, clean and neat. The hotel used to have free parking, which was a reason I always used to recommend it highly..now the room cost and parking fee are comparable to several other places. The staff were friendly and helpful. Again, the number one reason to stay here would be the location. A not so nice part of the hotel is having to go outside to the parking lot to take the elevator to our room..definitely odd.

« Good base for exploring Chicago »

We stayed here for 4 nights. The hotel is really well situated, right opposite a McDonalds, Rainforest Cafe and Hard Rock Cafe, a Walgreens pharmacy and a number of other places to eat. You can easily walk to Magnificent Mile (the main shopping street) in a few blocks. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was on the 5th floor and was fine. The hotel looks a little run down from the outside but the room was nice. Two double beds and a small bathroom. We had a problem with a party happening in a room nearby and lots of loud music/shouting so we rang Reception and they sorted it out. We ordered room service breakfast one morning which was tasty. The WiFi was fine and worked well 80% of the time. We didn't use the pool as there was a sign up saying there was work happening on the roof terrace where the pool is situated. We guessed this meant that it wasn't open. The hotel will need a bit of a face lift in the near future to keep up with the competition (there is a lot in Chicago!) but is very well located for exploring the city. Recommended.

    « Meh »

The location is good. It's walking distance/short Uber ride from main Chicago touristy areas and more, but I don't think staying here was worth the money I saved. The room and hotel in general smelled extremely weird. The AC unit kicked on and off about once every 15 minutes. The staff member at the front desk basically ignored my boyfriend and I when we were the only ones there. He continued to write a long note on a sticky pad while we stood there waiting. It all seemed very strange, but we aren't really complainers so we just went with it. My friends stayed at a nicer hotel right down the street and I didn't want to leave their room for the Best Western. In the end, I saved $150 on a 3 night stay by picking BW over the Hilton, Dana and Hyatt Regency.

    « "Girls Trip" »

Each year the adult girls in our family take a trip to Chicago. We started taking the trip in October 1980 to get our mother away from home around the anniversary of the death of her husband and our father. Chicago is the place they met when he was serving in the military during World War II so that is why we selected Chicago for the trip. In the beginning we stayed in other hotels until a friend suggested that we stay at the Best Western River North. Our experience was good the first year and we have never been disappointed.

    4
    « Great Location »

Every time we visit Chicago, we usually stayed at BW River North. Great location, McDonald next door-perfect for quickly cold coffee. But since we get older...it became too noisy for us over night :) Rooms are clean, check in quick.

    3
    « Noisy at Night »

Our room was very nice in size on the 6th floor a king suite. However, all night long we were plagued by very loud sirens, which woke us numerous times. It is either right by a fire station, or, a very high crime area? We always felt safe walking in River North, so probably the first.

« Solo Trip to Attend a Wedding »

I was attending a wedding in Chicago by myself so being at a safe hotel was at the top of my list. Not only did I feel safe, I felt welcomed and at home. All of the staff was helpful and very friendly, especially Wallace!! I arrived early and was able to work out/swim then use the showers in that area before heading out for some shopping. Wallace assisted with my bags and held them until the room was ready. He was very kind, helpful, and had an overall positive and vibrant spirit. The next morning he assisted with my bags again and then helped me navigate my way to the blue line. I stayed in a King Room located in the "detached" portion of the hotel, on the second level that faced Ohio Street. There was city noise however it wasn't anything that bothered me, I am a pretty heavy sleeper though. In general the hotel was clean, close to Michigan Avenue and several of the train lines. Overall the hotel is updated although there are some areas that speak more to an older city hotel. I did not do much in the area so I cannot speak on the surround restaurants and such. I would highly recommend this establishment and would stay there again.

    « Good location »

This hotel is well located near Michigan Avenue. There atre plenty of bars and restaurants nearby. You are within walking distance of the River Walk, Navy Pier and Millenium Park and it is about six blocks from the CAT Airport line. Staff are very friendly and stored our luggage for the day of our evening flight. Rooms are ok, nothing specail and the a/c is very load. There is a great pool and sun deck which I recommend to use hiighly. Felt very safe walking around the area even at night. Reasonably priced for Chicago and would recommend

    « Stayed for work »

Ok hotel. Not my favorite in river north. Room was small and hotel felt dated. Many rooms are in a building next door. You have to exit the building with the front desk and reenter through the parking lot. Bed and bathroom were decent. Spent more on this room than i often spend at better places. My normal hotel was full.

    « Location, locatio, location! »

Great place to stay to be near Michigan Ave shopping, Theater District, Navy Pier, movie theaters, a comedy club on weekends and lots of great bars and restaurants. Close to Red Line an #22 bus. Recently remodeled lobby and rooms and is really looking good! Friendly and helpful staff. Very reasonably priced for Chicago. Stay here often.

« Clean and great location »

Great price, location and rooms were clean. It was difficult to find at first as it's not so obvious it was a Best Western. Maybe put improvements to exterior so it doesn't look to plain. Front desk was courteous and provide great service when needed. Room was roomy for the 4 guests we had.

spent 2 nights here after landing in America to start Route 66. Hotel Is nice enough, well stocked hotel bar, swimming pool and sun deck. Gym available but no air con so its unbearable in there. 25 USD per night for parking. Hotel is fairly central. Felt safe in the area walking around. We had booked 2 rooms, one for 3 people. On arriving we where informed that all rooms only had 1 bed in them and that we could pay extra for a rollaway bed. We agreed to this for the one room and cash was paid. However on getting home I noticed its also been charged to my credit card despite it having already been paid.

Our trip was for pleasure and my husband and I really enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful, and the location was great . . . right in the center of Downtown. We can always count on Best Western to be clean and have plenty of towels and pillows.

I stayed here for a business trip since it was the least expensive that showed up on our corporate travel website that was in guidelines. Its in a great location in that its close to a lot of good restaurants. I was able to walk to Eataly by myself around 7:30 pm and it was very safe and a lot of people walking around. The elevators at this place are extremely slow, there are only 2 for both buildings. The rooms do not have refrigerators and if you want to get Ice there is only one machine on the 4th floor. The shampoo, conditioner and bath soap are in a wall dispense mounted on the shower wall. Everything is very old and not in great condition - the faucet leaked every time I turned the water on. Make sure you don't get a room facing Ohio - you hear every firetruck, ambulance, car and motorcycle all night - the only thing you can do is turn on the very loud airconditioner to drown it out. its got your basic small one cup coffee machine, a safe and a hair dryer along with iron and board. There is a pool on the top floor but I didn't check it out. They provide decent coffee in the lobby so that was a plus after having the coffee in the room which was not so good. What I did like was that there were plenty of lights in the room so by turning them all on, it was nice and bright. Would I stay here again? Not unless I had to.

    « Great Location »

I was a little iffy when I booked my stay considering how much cheaper it was than other hotels in the area. I was extremely happy with my stay. The room smelled so clean when we arrived. Everything was very clean actually. All of the employees that we came across were extremely nice and helpful. We drove our own car and left it parked while during our stay. The parking was the cheapest around, which was great. This hotel is right across from Rainforest Cafe and Hard Rock Cafe. The only thing that I could possibly complain about is the A/C unit was extremely loud. realize that they A/C units in hotels are normally not the quietest, but this sucker was loud. I'm not sure if it was just our room or not though. Although our room was right on the Ohio St. the noise level was not even noticeable. Overall this was a great trip and great place to stay. For sure will stay here again when in Chicago.

Front desk staff were friendly, there are a lot of restaurants near the hotel, the pool was amazing, my room was very quiet and I am always going to come back. I liked everythingabout it! Thanks everyone

This hotel was in a great location! We could not have been happier with our stay! The staff was so helpful and friendly! We will defiantly stay here again! The express checkout was great and we were able to check in our bags until we left that evening!

    « Great location »

Room was clean. Loved the tub. Staff was friendly. This was my first trip to stay in Chicago so parking caught me of guard. I guess they have to charge something to park due to limited space. Location was EXCELLENT for taking bus tours. Tour busses stopped at McDonald's directly across the street. Hard rock cafe & Rain Forest cafe was right there as well. I'm not usually a "city" traveler but this was a very nice experience.

    « Great stay »

Great stay at a great location. Rooms looked to be newly renovated and were very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Lots of restaurants nearby, hop on hop off bus stop across the street. On site parking at 25.00 per night but parking anywhere else even more. We never moved car after we arrived. Walked to Magnificent Mile, 6 blocks, then down to the river for river cruise. Cab ride to museums only 13.75. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Well Situated »

Had a King Bed room on the 4th floor . Lots of updates going on at the time of my stay . New furniture , lamps, curtains etc . Very comfortable mattress, linens & pillows . Friendly helpful staff too . No complaints about cleanliness . Nice rooftop patio where we took a bottle of wine up with us at sunset . Pool up there too . Walking distance to everything . No breakfast which is unusual for Best Westerns but excellent coffee in the lobby. Not happy about having to pay for parking . Overall , I highly recommend it .

    « Nice time »

Stayed here for a family vacation. Room was clean and comfortable. Bathroom out dated. Staff was very friendly. Only problem we had was we called down for more toilet paper but after an hour I had to go track some down. Loved the pool area with the outside deck Some nice views. Price was very responsible compared to other hotels.

Nice, clean and comfortable hotel. Great location with very reasonable parking. Also a restaurant/bar on the property which is important to us. Staff was very friendly. Our room was clean and the bed very comfortable.

« Conveniently located downtown hotel »

The River North Hotel is conveniently located and whithin walking distance of most sights - if you like walking - it takes about 30 min to walk to Navy Pier, Sears-Tower is about 45min. The hotel itself is close to many food-place - a giant retro-style McDonalds just across from it and a nice Irish pub with good food about a block and a half away. Go for one of the larger rooms on the top floors - more comfortable and nicer view. Friendly staff, clean rooms, parking on site (fee applies).

« Great quality for the price in downtown Chicago »

We were exceptionally pleased with our room and the Pizzarea Ora restaurant attached to the hotel. Our arrival and departure were easy. We parked our car there for the three days at $25.00 a day which is comparable to other locations. A great place and convenient to downtown.

« Started out rocky, but what a nice experience in the end! »

I checked in on Tuesday, August 23rd with my sister and nephew. We were there to move him into Loyola and my sister and I stayed a few days to have some sister time! We arrived late, 11PM and went straight to our room. The room was really not satisfactory. Some of the furniture was beat up from what appeared to be the cleaning crew and the bathroom was yucky. Old toilet, peeling on the walls and floors. I took several pictures and went to the front desk the next morning to let them know we weren't satisfied and inquired about another room. The young lady at the desk, whose name I wish I could remember (started with a J, Jabid or something similar, was fantastic. She fell all over herself apologizing, let me know that the majority of the rooms had just undergone renovation and she had two rooms she wanted me to preview before choosing which one we preferred to move into. She is the definition of customer service. Extremely friendly, helpful and genuinely concerned for your comfort and satisfaction. We selected another room and were extremely happy with it. Very clean, considerably larger than the first one and quite comfortable. The location of the hotel is great, we walked to the river for dinner and then to Blue Chicago for an evening of dancing and great blues. The restaurant on site is nice too. Very reasonable prices, even for room service, which we had two morning we were there. Overall, the hotel was nice, the service impeccable and the location was good. Great place for the price! We'll stay here again!

« You get what you pay for »

Other than the clerk who checked me in and the gentleman that accompanied me to my room on the numerous failed attempts with my card to gain entry didn't work, the rest of the staff were rude and unfriendly to say the least. I made five complaints about my room key not working properly and was promised each time a mechanic would come....never came. Was offered free breakfast the next morning for my troubles but when I went to pick them up, they were reluctantly given to me. We allowed our son to go the next morning but when we checked out, I was glad to give the two unused ones back. What an insult! The bathroom was from the 1960's. The hallways are stuffy and musty just like the S-L-O-W elevator which was cramp and NOT air-conditioned. The front office looks nice but that's about it. The swimming area is in dire need for upgrades. The nice view outside the swimming pool closes at 10pm...really? And smokers are allowed to do their thing there. In closing, I know it is cost effective to have a shampoo, conditioner and shower gel dispenser but I would think that's better accepting in a hospital or somewhere personal like your home but not in a hotel. So bring your own toiletries. A dispenser was such a turn off, among everything else.

« Nice for the price »

We stayed two nights at the BW River North. We were impressed with the updated facilities. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The location is great and there is free parking (though we took the El instead). They gave us a complimentary newspaper also. We would definitely stay here again.

    « Wallace is Awesome! »

Wallace is the concierge at this hotel. He makes you want to come back--that's how great he did his job. The hotel's location was perfect for what we needed and wanted to do while in Chicago. The German Consulate and Navy Pier are within walking distance. This older hotel has been nicely renovated and our room was large. My mother and I liked it a lot. Although I highly recommend this hotel, I, unfortunately, cannot recommend this hotel for people in wheelchairs. The elevators are small, the hallways are narrow, and it's just not that easy to maneuver throughout the hotel. It was extremely difficult just getting onto the terrace to get a view of the skyline and it was not that easy trying to get into the hotel room.

    4
« Avoid The Third Floor »

Room was on the third floor (340) and could hear a lot of street noise, window view was of the Best Western sign and no refrigerator. Ice machine is on the fourth floor on the other end of building. (The whole third floor smelt like weed) Definitely recommend asking to be located away from the street and on a higher floor. Room was very nice and roomy and the staff were extremely friendly. Parking was convenient and there is a very nice restaurant next to the lobby.

    4
« Great location and price »

Enjoyed the convenience of this BW to downtown sights and closeness to transit. We flew to Chicago and were able to take transit easily to the hotel. Staff was friendly and helpful and accomodated to our needs several times. The loungebar/restaurant has good food and reasonably priced. The king sized room was clean and spacious. Good value for downtown location.

    3
« Everything Was Great Except Road Noise--Very Reasonably Priced »

This really is a very well located hotel with nice rooms (on the small side but that didn't bother us--could bother others if you're hanging out int he room or like spacious accommodations). Part of the location is that it's on Ohio Street which is the feeder from I 90/94 so constantly busy with fast moving traffic including motorcycles throughout the night--which we heard. Regular traffic noise was pretty loud and clear--those bikes were awfully bad.

« So Many Better Options »

I am a lifelong Chicagoan now living in the suburbs, but wanted to have a last of the summer weekend with my family. I waited a bit too long to book, so ended up booking here because I know the other Best Western (which is what I thought I HAD booked) had many positive reviews (closer to Northwestern Hospital). No big deal. We were doing the Hop-On, Hop-Off Bus Tours (Fantastic!!) and there was a stop here, so it was not a problem. Well, we arrived a little early and parked our car. The lot is no longer free. The overnight parking is $25, but in an outside (covered) lot. Not super secure, but that was ok. What wasn't cool to me was that people from the street could walk directly into the hotel and to the elevator and go to the floors even late at night without having to be buzzed in or having to swipe their card to access the entry. This is the city! Anyway, when we got up to our room, the room we had reserved for 4 was a king sz bed (we knew that) and a pull out couch (also knew that), but the pull out bed was no bigger than TWIN size--not nearly big enough for the 4th person. So I went down and informed them of the issue. they were nice enough about it (very young and inexperienced staff at the desk-but polite). Took about 30 minutes or so for us to be moved to the new room, but it was fine. The room was large and clean. Let me just say that this place is OLD. It wasn't dirty or nasty. It wasn't old like in a cool, architecturally unique style that Chicago is known for. There just are gazillions of impressive hotels in Chicago, and this is not one of them, especially for $250 a night. Now, yes, this was Ohio Street--one of the busier streets. But what was REALLY loud was a massive A/C unit in our room that sounded like a freight train going on every 5 or 10 minutes because this hotel doesn't have central air conditioning. Yes, this was like a WINDOW unit. Add the street noises of endless sirens and bachelor parties and it just wasn't a quiet place for sleeping. The bed (the King) was comfortable, but the pull out--not so much. We had to ask for pillows for it (they brought one) and we used the couch cushions to place in the gaps to lift the mattress up at the head so my teens did not sink in. The shower was not the greatest, with a mounted soap dispenser like at a motel. That was odd. No on-site restaurant, but a tasty place nearby (Mele?) that was at River North prices ($90 for breakfast for 4 people). Yikes! Overall, just ok but would not stay here again.

    3
« You get what you pay for »

It was an ok location. Easy to walk/uber to where we needed to be. Loud at night with McDonalds glowing arches beaming through our window. Interestingly it is two separate buildings so after check-in (up four stairs after you enter the building ...with no ramp seems surprising for a hotel that should assume guests are coming to check-in/out with luggage) we had to leave the building and walk through the parking lot to get access to the elevator for our room.

    5
« Helpful staff, great pool and rooftop deck »

We loved our time in Chicago. Used the swimming pool every day and relaxed on the deck outside the pool area. The room size exceeded our expectations. Only two blocks from the Red Line and lots of great restaurants within walking distance. Extremely helpful staff at front desk and lobby. Would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Location, location, location »

It's not fancy or high-class, but it works. Definite value. Nice-sized, clean room. The parking was cheap. The pool was fine. The best part about it is its location. Four blocks from the Magnificent Mile. Within walking distance to many restaurants. I would stay here again!

« Good hotel in a great location! »

My husband and I stayed at the BW River North to celebrate my birthday. It was my first time in Chicago. The hotel was great. We stayed in a suite with a king bed. It was great to have a living space separate from the bed, space to spread out while escaping the Chicago heat. The bathroom was clean, but a little small. The pool seemed clean enough, and the outside patio gave great views of the city. At night there were lots of people hanging out enjoying the views and a beer. The service at the hotel was very good, reception was quick and courteous. The location of this hotel is what will bring us back. Close to public transportation and walkable to the riverwalk. There were also so many great restaurant and bar choices within walking distance. Overall a great value and an excellent location to explore Chicago!

    4
    « Enjoyable »

Nice, friendly staff, clean room, safe, nice view from the sun deck toward the south skyline of Chicago .. Very good value. It was prudent for the hotel to offer the option to have new sheets daily or do the home style and use them more than one day. Close to rapid transit. Stayed at this hotel in the past, nice remodel with the rooms.

    5
« Great downtown location for price. »

We have stayed at this hotel many times. Parking used to be free. Not its $25 which is still a great deal. Rooftop indoor pool and outdoor seating is the best part. Rooms have been renovated. We got a king and it was more of a suite - tons of room for downtown Chicago. Very close to the L and Michigan Ave.

    4
« Great hotel for cost »

    « Location, Location, Location »

This is not the fanciest or the newest hotel downtown, but it is centrally located. It is very easy to get to and from the freeway. Many sights are within walking distance with several bus stops in the area and the red line entrance just a few blocks away. Staff will help you with directions to where you need to go. Clean, comfortable rooms.

    « Excellent all around »

We stayed here on the recommendation of family in Chicago. We were not disappointed with their recommendation. The rooms were clean and well maintained. The internet was as advertised, fast. The location was ideal for eating with well known brands within a block ranging from the cheap to the moderate. Navy Pier was a long walk or short taxi ride while Michigan Avenue was an easy stroll. Special mention must be made of the staff who were extremely helpful and knowledgeable. This is especially true of the concierge who in every respect went out of his way to help us during our stay. Indeed on or last day (with a two year old in tow) he made checking out, getting a taxi to O'Hare and ensuring that we had breakfast a seamless exercise which would put staff in far more expensive establishments to shame. When in Chicago again this will be my first choice hotel. Thank you.

« Affordable three star hotel with good amenities, friendly staff and a quirky interior. »

At the northwest edge of downtown, the location is fine for the price, with easy access from the freeway, good, affordable parking, and around the corner from the Clark St. restaurant row. An easy walk to most tourist venues. The E-shaped building is a warren of narrow darkish corridors fed by three small widely separated elevators leading to comfortable rooms, all recently renovated. On the sixth floor is a good pool, a small roof deck and an exercise room. A fine place for children to let off steam. We stayed three nights. No problems, would happily book in again. There's an in house restaurant and bar I didn't use. Good coffee in the lobby, but no free breakfast.

« Ok place to stay »

We were staying downtown and there were a lot going on downtown Chicago . It was hard to find a cheap room. This was the least expensive room but it was 260.00 a night. Overpriced in my opinion. These rooms have been as low as 89.00 a night. That would be a great price. Great location. Cheap parking. One elevator did not work. You have to walk through the parking lot to get to the elevators and you need your key to get into the room with the elevators. We checked out and had to walk down the parking ramp to get our car because we could not get to the elevator. In the rooms you can hear everything in the halls. Staff was very helpful and friendly. There is a safe in the room. For a cheaper price, I would stay here again. It was very clean too.

« Best hotel in Chicago »

This is the only hotel we stay at when visiting Chicago. Easy to get to when driving and a short cab ride from Union Station. Awesome bar with the best lunch special in town. The hotel staff has been there for a long time. They know you by name and treat you better than family.

    « Family vacation »

We took our two children to this hotel for our Chicago vacation. We would definitely stay here again. Excellent customer service. Clean room. Loved the pool and the roof deck. Most hotels in this price range do not have a pool. Close to everything we wanted to see and do. We walked the 5 blocks to Michigan Ave. The hotel is 2 blocks to a local grocery store. McDonalds is across the street and other nice restaurants within a couple blocks. Close to the free trolley to the Pier and the train. The bus lines run within a block of the hotel. The hotel does not have a free breakfast but I couldn't find any in this price range that did. The staff here were very nice and helpful!! There is no free parking at this hotel any longer. They charge $25 per night for parking, which I hear is still lower than most hotels. The free coffee in the lobby was excellent! Very good value especially for Chicago.

    « GREAT HOTEL! »

This hotel was a nice surprise. Awesome location..couldn't ask for more in this regard. Lobby was beautiful/modern and rooms were nicely decorated as well and clean. Kids really enjoyed the pool area as well. The double queen suites we had were very spacious. The complimentary morning coffee provided at in the lobby was a nice treat. However, complimentary breakfast, like some other BW hotels do would've been very nice and convenient, esp. for those with kids. Overall a great stay..nice facilities and great staff :)

« Would stay again! 5 Star staff! »

We would definitely stay here again. Excellent customer service. Loved the pool and the roof deck. Close to everything we wanted to see and do. Close to the free trolley to the Pier and the train. When you google the website it does say free breakfast but there was not, still 5 stars because the people here were so nice!! The breakfast in the restaurant was amazing and a great price, free coffee was also very good! Thanks for a great stay!

    « Would Stay Again! »

I was about to find this gem hotel through their website (I was also comparing prices with other websites and surprisingly, their price was cheaper compared to a third party like Expedia). I was surprised that every morning, the hotel would deliver newspaper to each and every one of their guests (it was nice gesture). For those who are in a budget, I would recommend this hotel because it is not that far from the heart of Chicago. And there are transportation within the block or two from the hotel, which was very convenient for me and my sister. We got a King-sized bed room; it wasn't that big but it was doable for the two of us especially since we just need a place to sleep and shower -- loved the water pressure from the shower head! I would come back here again, if the price is right, of course =)

« Great Value and Great Location »

Overall the hotel was nice, looks like it was recently updated. Lobby was inviting and clean. Staff was friendly except I had to ask multiple times for a crib in my room for my daughter before it was finally delivered later in the evening. First one they gave us was broken. Hotel room was clean and updated. Location was great, walking distance to a lot of good restaurants. The tour bus stop was right around the corner which was very convenient. We walked home from Navy Pier which was only about a mile. Definitely a great place to stay for the money and parking is the cheapest in the city!

    « Chicago Stay »

Our recent Chicago trip was based at the Best Western River North Hotel and that was secured on line, sight unseen, but turned out to be a great choice. It was affordable, close to a great number of restaurants, transportation options, tour guide stop and the operation of a number of very good desk staff, staffing of the lobby area and employees who kept our room very clean and made it our six day home. The mattresses were good, the shower and bath a little small, but very serviceable and an easy access location. It is not a luxury hotel, but for families, friends and others I have no trouble in recommending BW River North.

    « Would stay again »

Good location close to Michigan Ave.shopping and many restaurants. Easiest to use and best priced parking I've found in the area. Room is small but functional and comfortable. « Good Location as long as the price is good too! »

Let me explain the title! Location is pretty good cause there's 20minute walk to john hancock observatory now known as 360! About 25 minutes to Navy Pier. It is surrounded by many places to eat! There's a Rainforest Cafe and Mcdonald across the street and Walgreens a street further! They do charge 25$ for parking overnight or 35$ for in and out priviledge! Which is funny to me cause what's the big deal if i leave once or twice, now you gonna charge me 10$ more? So i did took basic 25$ overnight parking, and we just walked everywhere! Call it a stroll around town! They don't have fridge or microwave in a room but if you want fridge that will be extra 10$ per night! We needed one so here! On top of the stay we paid 35$ extra per night for things that are usually given in a hotel price! We paid 125$ per night plus taxes which was okay with me but then that extra 35$ that started putting strain on my wallet but still good location! Just go and sightsee! Out of curiosity i checked prices for same room same time, 2 days before my arrival and they were asking over 200$ plus taxes and parking that's just a rip off cause things aren't that spectacular! First elevators are small and slow! Elevator #3 is plain dangerous! Closes on people as they walk in, rooms are small and no breakfast! I didn't get a chance to checkout their wifi, but on the positive note they got nice deck and pool on top of the hotel! Pool is between 3-8 feet! To sum it up: i would only stay here if the max price was around 130$ anything over that i would keep looking! Heard there was nice Hostel for around 70$ nearby, big city! Plenty of choices! Go with your gut!

« River North Best Western »

Free parking at the time of stay! Unheard of anywhere else in Chicago. This has now changed unfortunately. This hotel gets 5 stars simply based on the outstanding, warm staff and free parking and tremendous location. View of the famous 2 storey McDonald's a neat trip plus. Hotel is clean and cozy. Loved our stay so much, however, a bad experience anywhere in this beautiful city seems impossible.

    « Best Location »

This hotel doesn't look like much on the outside, but the rooms are excellent. Even better is the location for the price. We walked everywhere (except when it was too hot and we took a cab). We stay here every time we come to Chicago. It's reliably clean, the staff is helpful and the location is perfect.

    « Was a 10 then dropped to a 4!! »

So this trip was great and this hotel had it all. It was a gem for what we paid for and it's top location. The pool upstairs was great and so was the staff and restaurant but the reason why this hotel went from a 10 to a 4 was because there was a bedbug on my pillow that bit me?? I informed the staff and didn't make a big deal about it because we were in town for two more nights. They brought in the engineers to scoop out the room and new beddings. While I'm grateful for that, but they didn't offer us anything and they left the same pillow that the bug was on in the room. It's a shame cause this hotel was prefect...

My husband & I stayed here two nights to attend Cubs games. Our room was very comfortable & clean. The front desk was very helpful & always polite. They allowed us to store our luggage prior to checkin & after checkout. They were also helpful in getting taxis. The hotel is closest to the Redline Grand station. It's within walking distance of lots of fabulous restaurants as well as shopping. We would stay again.

« Clean, friendly, great location »

Room was excellent- very clean, updated and modern, and had a good view from the window. The only negative about our room was that the bathroom is divided by a door separating the sink from the toilet and the bathtub, and the bathtub/toilet area is TINY with hardly any room to stand while you open the door to leave the shower. Otherwise, the room is excellent. The location is great- super close to all the touristy things that my husband and I wanted to do (museums, aquarium, Sears/Willis tower, etc) and super close to delicious restaurants. Lastly- the staff at the hotel was friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay here again when we visit Chicago!

    « Can't beat the value »

It's definitely an older, dated hotel, but if you're there to explore the city and won't be spending a lot of time in your room, you can't go wrong here. A great location, being about a 10 minute walk to the magnificent mile and about 20 mins to the Bean. Several great restaurants nearby, including classic spots for deep dish pizza or steak. $25 per night for parking ($35 for in and out, but you do NOT need this option because - the city is very walkable). Cleanliness, bed, wifi and noise levels are all average. The slight road noise was not bothersome for us. We didn't use the amenities (pool) as we were out most of the day. The staff are very friendly and helpful with getting oriented with the city and offering suggestions. The best value hotel in the area you will find. Would definitely stay again

    « Excellent Hotel »

Very nice hotel in all respects. We parked our car in the hotel parking lot and walked or took public transportation to the museums, restaurants, etc. My only complaint is the noise on Ohio Street. We needed ear plugs to sleep at night. Be aware that the room rate goes up and down like a yo-yo. The rate can vary by as much as $100 per night, depending on day of the week, season, time of booking, etc..

« Great value, great location »

Good place within walking distance of Willis Tower (1 mile, roughly 11 blocks). Near Rainforest Café. Would have been nice if they would have allowed my parked car to remain later than noon though. Public parking across the street, beside McDonalds, for $12/2 hrs.

    « Large rooms »

We normally stay in Best Western hotels due to the good rewards. We booked this one as we traveled to see a concert and wanted to stay somewhere in the middle of the city. Well the rooms were clean and quiet and the air conditioning was superb. The rooms are very spacious and the noise you will hear comes from outside city noises. They were also clean and the bed was comfortable. We parked there and used lyft to travel around the city. Good stay!

    « Good hotel »

Stayed just overnight. Decently priced, right in the center of the city. The property was under renovation when I checked in...hence seom noise during my stay and not all places were accessible. They have a separate entrance which was difficult to locate.

    « Great Stey »

This hotel has a great location, nice and helpful staff, clean rooms, and a great value. We did not use the hotel parking, instead we used an app. called Parking Whiz and saved quite a bit. The location was perfect. We never moved our car the whole stay. We walked to CTA locations and every major attraction from this spot. Never walked over a mile, even to Navy Pier. If walking short distances to the attraction or to public transportation isn't for you, neither is Chicago. The weather was great, always a cool breeze off the water. The staff helped us out so much with directions and recommendations. The room was large enough and clean. Was the street noisy? Yes, we were in downtown Chicago! The hotel is only 6 stories, so yea but it never woke me up. Our room had no cosmetic damage. Was it state of the art, no but I didn't pay for Ritz Carlton accommodations either. Besides, we slept there. We didn't stay in the room all day. However, it was right in the middle of everything so we did come back and rest our feet a time or two. The value can't be beat. When you start comparing prices, it's the only one that makes since. We used Priceline where they pick the hotel and you pick the area and star level. I researched enough to know this would be the one picked. We were very happy with our stay and would stay there again every time. They leave you a USA today at your door every morning. Upon checking in, they give you half price drink coupons for 1/2 off at the hotel restaurant. Great deal. Also, restaurant serves all three meals. It's not on the menu, but it's on a sign outside about their breakfast deal: 2 pancakes, eggs, and bacon or sausage for $6.95. You can't beat that a McDonalds (which is directly across the street.) Also, on the same block as hotel, directly behind the hotel is Blue Chicago, one of the best blues bars in town. I'm telling you, great hotel!!! Make sure you go to the roof top even if you don't want to swim. There's a great outdoor patio with a beautiful view of the city at night!

« Enjoyed our stay at Best Western River North »

For the price this was a very nice hotel! It is older, but was comfortable. Stayed 5 nights and were close to many of the attractions we wanted to see. Big Bus is located near by so easy access. Restaurant on site, which was good. Had fridge but wish microwave was included in price vs extra charge. Parking was easy and very affordable.

« Not Much To Look At; Great Location »

We stayed here in early July and if I were staying in Chicago again, I'd be 95% sure I'd just stay here again. The place isn't much to look at from the outside or the corridors inside but the rooms appear to have been renovated recently and the in room experience was fantastic. The price isn't cheap but it isn't expensive for Chicago but the location is perfect.

« Okay for the Money »

The hotel staff are quite nice and knowledgeable about the city. The room was cleanish and the bathroom was a different story. There was yellow residue at the bottom of the tub, cracked walls, the shower spout was not attached to the wall and showed a very large gap and the door in the bathroom was very filthy. The air conditioner did not work properly and it took about five hours to get it down three degrees. The bedding was itchy but the decor of the room was lovely.

    « Great Location & Value »

My husband and I were a little nervous after reading the mixed reviews; however, we stayed because of the location and price. Many reviews talked about construction and loud noise; however, the construction is complete. You can tell the hotel has recently been updated as it looks very modern inside. The room was clean, hotel staff were friendly and location was great! It was an easy walk to anywhere we wanted to go. We would definitely stay here again!

    « Good service »

It was a nice little hotel perfect for a short visit, to Chicago town. Near to all the nice stores downtown. Stuff is very Friendly. If you are driving be prepare to spend a lot of money in parking spaces. Gets a little overwhelming but Chicago is a great city. I won't recommend to drive. If you drive pay the hotel 35 dlls parking fee it's as cheap as it gets and you get to take your car in and out. Everything is walking distance from the hotel but is a must to have a good walking shoes.

    « Anniversary visit »

The hotel has been around for over 40 years. Originally it was the Mart Inn. It has been upgraded since we were last there. We found it comfortable and clean and the parking reasonable. We could walk many places without along taxi's. My only complaint was no Coca Cola products available

    « Great location! »

We were traveling on a budget so this hotel was perfect! It was affordable (only $25/night for parking which is excellent for Chicago) and was located very centrally. You can walk to Navy Pier or the Art Institute of Chicago in about 20 minutes. Michigan Avenue is probably less than 10 minutes. The room was very clean and the front desk staff was great. They even give you coupons for half off drinks at the restaurant. The bathroom is tight but the rest of the room is a nice size. The elevator system is confusing but you get the hang of it after a few times. Would definitely stay again!

    « Good Stay - Great Service »

It is the great staff that make the stay one to remember! The staff answered all questions about the area, shopping, and Food places. Food places and activities were described and the staff gave directions and times for museums as well. Very helpful staff with an invitation to return upon departure.

    « Great Location »

We chose this hotel because of the location, and it was even better than we thought. Everything we wanted to do was in walking distance except for Wrigley Field which was a short cab ride. Everyone who worked at the hotel were very nice and friendly. The room was small, but comfortable and clean. The kids liked the pool, and the view from the patio was nice. We would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

« Working hard and it shows! »

Somewhat dated and lots of work being done, but the rooms were clean, comfortable and in a great location. Easy walk to Navy Pier, Magnificent Mile, Willis Tower (all within less than two miles). We would definitely stay again! Lots of places to eat nearby...we parked when we got there and walked everywhere!

« Nice Room, Cold Pool »

Room was nice. Clean and comfortable. Indoor pool managed to be quite cold, not sure if it was recently filled or what the reasoning behind this was. The price mixed with the locations made it a pretty decent value all in all.

    4
« Good Hotel bad Wifi »

This is a nice hotel but there are a few issues, first the wifi was terrible so business travelers beware. Second, no breakfast included so keep that in mind, the restaurant has a decent breakfast. Room was also very small so anyone traveling multiple people keep that in mind, for a single person it would be plenty of room. The room itself was nicely decorated (looked freshly remodeled). Staff was pleasant.

    3
    « Not impressed after 2 visits »

Yes, the hotel is nicely situated, but not the best for business travelers. I stayed in both sections of their hotel on two visits. The room I had above the parking had such a loud AC it was hard to sleep. My colleague slept with his off and woke up all sweaty each morning. In the main section, on my second stay, I got no Wifi in my room and had to go to the lobby to connect. And then the elevator broke down. I walked up to the 6th floor 4 or 5 times. I was glad they discounted my room a bit and gave me a breakfast voucher, but for a room over $240/night I expect more.

« Good value, great staff »

This hotel is convenient to both the red and blue train lines. There are a number of restaurants nearby, as well as a Whole Foods Market, Walgreens and Jewel market. There is good secure parking on site at a reasonable cost. The hotel is clean. The beds are comfortable. The amenities are average for a mid range Best Western. The staff is really outstanding and friendly. For a downtown Chicago hotel, the price is reasonable. Our only complaint was the substantial street noise echoing all night long from Ohio Street and the thin walls. Bring earplugs.

« Great value, staff, room, location. »

We have been stayed at the same hotel near Lincoln Park eight times in the past, but when the rates became too high for the value received, we decided to look around. We chose the BWRN because of the price and its having a pool, and we were extremely pleased with our decision. Wallace, the concierge was right there at the door to greet us and make us feel welcome. His consistent greetings, jokes, and careful attention to our needs and wants made us feel important and valued. Shayla and DeAndre took great pains to get us into our room quickly and went to even more trouble to switch rooms for us after we found that the original one was not the one we wanted. All of this was done with a smiling, professional, and caring demeanor. We also were well-served by Justin, one of the engineers of the hotel, who gave us information about the property and was extremely cordial. Every one of the staff members were polite and made certain our stay was pleasant. Our room was large and had a king bed, sofa sleeper, refrigerator, three easy chairs, end tables, coffee table, and of course a desk and office chair. We were on the 5th floor and faced Ohio St., we kept the fan on continuously to muffle the street sounds and we were not disturbed. The BWRN has an excellent location with McDonald's across the street, Portillio's a block away, and many dining choices close by. The bus to the Loop is around the corner and the 22 Clark North bus is two short blocks away. The indoor pool was clean and we used it often. One of the nice things about this hotel is the rooftop deck. While it is only a 7 story building, the placement of the hotel offers a gorgeous view of the city. The parking is a real bargain at $25 per 24 hours. With all of the amenities, this is a genuine value for lodging in the city. We found no fault in this hotel and we are excited to go back soon.

« Convienet location, parking onsite, and »

Best Western RIver North is conveniently located near the blue (Clark/Lake) train station, which connects to O'Hare. This property is in walking distance to Michigan Avenue, Merchandise Mart, and Millennium Park. For those driving into the city it is great to know that there is parking on-site! The hotel lobby has been updated, and rooms are good, but could use an update. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Depending on the events going on in the area this location can be extra noisy due to street pedestrians (using the window A/C unit is a good way to add white noise and drown out street noise). I recommend Best Western RIver North for those driving into the city and making a visit to Merchandise Mart.

    « Great Stay! »

We came in town for a Cubs game and we wanted to stay downtown. This hotel is close to many things and had paid parking in its lot. Very close to red line and we were able to hop train to Wrigley. Front desk was very courteous and helpful. Room was not big but clean and updated. Comfortable beds. We will definitely stay here again. Perfect place to just sleep and tour the city.

« Good location, frendly staff, clean »

This hotel appears to be slowly upgrading most of the property. I was given a third floor suite which is essentially a long thin room with a bathroom cutting it into two, witha bed on one side and a sitting area on the other. I had two small windows witha view of the parking lot. The bed was comfortable, the furniture was solid and new, the paint and fixtures were relatively new, and it was clean. The free wireless internet was decently fast (4mbs up and down) and the breakfast was real and not bad (if a tad small for the scrambled eggs and one sausauge option). Fresh coffee was available ad libitum in the lobby although half and half was not provided, just liquid whitener. The ac unit in my room had not been updated and was a large, very noissy wimdow unit that did not work. I.e. It was hot and by the time i noticed i was ready for bed and so did not attempt to change rooms. There was some noise coming from the adjacent parking lot when i stayed. And there was a single elevator that was rather slow leading to Significant wait times on occasion (yeah, take the stairs). Overall, it was a decent place and perhaps good value.

« Nice location, Nice hotel »

This hotel, was nicely and conveniently located to various restaurants and stores, and Michigan avenue. The parking area lot was not the greatest, but it served it's purpose. I would definitely consider staying here again for any future visits.

    « Good Experience! »

I booked 2 nights of my 4 night Chicago vacation at River North. Now I wish I had stayed all 4 nights here. Its everything that I could have wanted in a Chicago hotel. The location was perfect for walking to downtown landmarks. I didn't have to move my car for the whole 2 days! And I loved the heated indoor pool and rooftop deck! They also have a nice restaurant and bar on site. It was nice to go down and have a drink and a shrimp cocktail without even leaving the hotel.

« Average may be too nice a description »

I normally don't stay at Best Westerns in Chicago (or anywhere much), but this one was in the right area and rooms were hard to find at a "decent" price with several large conferences in town. The hotel reminds me of a 1980's sterile corporate apartment, lots of room but very out dated, not welcoming, and quite frankly dark and a little creepy. Everything needed updating, but the room was clean, although the bed was not comfortable, too hard and lumpy. The "bathroom" was an area part of the gigantic room, but the toilet and shower in a separate little room were tiny. The elevator was tiny and dark, and the hallways were also sort of dark and narrow. The front desk people were excellent, and they changed my room after I requested as I was in a handicapped-accessible room for some reason, big enough to teach yoga in but very empty and just odd. The hotel had a hot water problem the first morning that was corrected during the day. My complaint is that this hotel charged the same rate as much nicer, updated, more comfortable-feeling hotels, approximately $300 a night all in. I stayed the weekend before this hotel on my dime at a much nicer place for the same amount. There was no business center, just a little seating area in the lobby. I did not use the restaurant and did not venture to see the exercise room. There were no rooms available at other hotels that weren't $500+ so I just stayed here, Couldn't even decide what I would have complained about to a manager other than it just wasn't that nice. All in all as a woman travelling alone for business this place just creeped me out a bit. I would not go back.

    3
    « Comfy but noisy »

The room was updated and comfortable, with the exception of the tiny room that held the toilet and shower. That area was barely big enough to turn around in. We were in a room fronting on Ohio Street, and there was a lot of street noise. The House of Blues is just around the corner, so people were yelling in the street for some time after the bar closed. The ice machine was down the hall, but we could still hear the noise every time someone got ice. The final straw was the room AC unit , which was loud and cycled on and off frequently. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room did not come with breakfast, but there is a restaurant adjoining the hotel. Food was good and reasonable. There is also a huge McDonalds across the street if all you want is an Egg McMuffin.

    « 30 years »

I have stayed at this hotel multiple times over 30 years... It hasn't changed much. New mattresses, linens, pillows, etc. but it's still the same. It's a good value for the money. Excellent location. Cheap parking. When visiting Chicago, a hotel room is just a place to rest your head. It serves it's purpose.

    4
« Great value with surprsiing good location »

Stayed here during a conference when all other hotels were booked. Where the average price of a Chicago hotel is in the $350-$400+ range, this Best Western was about $250. It is about a 8 minute walk to Michigan Avenue and about a 5 minute walk to restaurants like the Weber Grill and Fleming's. If you have kids the Rainforest Cafe is right across the street. Thus the location is much better than one might think. It was also clean and the staff were excellent. Free coffee too. If you want a great value this is a great choice.

    3
« Best Western River North Chicago »

Just an average hotel, somewhat dated,. Has more of a motel like feeling. Did not see breakfast offered like other Best Western properties stayed at in the past. Staff was courteous and nice. There are several restaurants near by to eat at. Did not go shopping so the location was convenient for my business purposes.

    3
« Good location for visitors »

Rooms were updated, still an older hotel but the rate was cheaper than hotels right on Michigan Ave. Just remember to tack on approx $50 for taxes per night. Location is centrally located to most everything in the north loop/Gold Coast area. We were no more than 10-15 mins from about everything we wanted to do. I would recommend a room not facing Ohio just for noise.

    3
    « Overpriced »

Great location. We spent 3 nights on a weekend. Terribly loud and poor air conditioner in the room. The room would go from warm, to jet-taking-off-loud, to cold and silent, rotating about every hour. Room is very small, single sink, bathroom has no fan and is outdated. Anywhere else this room would be less than $100/night and I spent $250+taxes.

    5
« Staff is very kind »

Would advise this hotel to anyone, the staff is kind especially the gentlemen in the lounge. I believe they must be the owners. The food is excellent in the restaurant, and many other things to do in this area. The building is a little older but the rooms are great with updated furniture. Would definitely recommend this hotel. We continue to go back to this location.

Noise from road, noise from air conditioner, broken hair dryer, clogged drain in tub/shower. Bad coffee in restaurant. No elongated toilets. Rooms recently upgraded, but only a bandage for other problems.

« Pass on this hotel »

I chose this hotel because it was for business and it was reasonably priced choice for a very well attended trade show in Chicago. I booked originally on Orbitz, but had to amend my stay, and I ended up paying $280, which was much higher. Total bill was $341.71. I was in some sort of annex, a very long walk from the front entrance, scary elevator, anf a really awful building. When I got to my room after a very long day, just wanting to go to sleep, i discovered the curtains were missing...yes MISSING, torn out of the wall from the window. Of course I am on the ground floor! I called the desk.. They were sending security?? to assist me with a move. I ended up falling asleep, in my clothes, and woke up 3 hours later at 2am and no one had shown up. Horrible service and just a nasty room all together. Never again!

    « Location is key! »

We stayed here for 3 nights and the location couldn't have been better. Didn't move the car once...20 minute walk to Navy Pier, Chicago Art Institute, Millennium Park and less of a walk to Magnificent Mile , Willis Tower and Water tower. Loads of shopping and great restaurants all around!! Rooms were a good size, beds comfy and clean. Rates were reasonable in an expensive city. Self on site parking for a fee but compared to other hotels in area fee was reasonable as well. Would definitely stay again when in Chicago-for us simply couldn't beat prize, cleanliness and location!

« Nice Hotel in the City »

I've been there during a business trip and beside sleeping I did't spent too much time in my room. The hotel is super close the Michigan Avenue and therefor a good starting point for people how want to explore the city. Since the hotel is across the Mc Donalds drive thru it's sometimes a bit noisy which didn't bother me at all. If you want a hotel in the middle of the city, this is a good choice!

    4
    « Fun Area »

This hotel is a more reasonably priced hotel in the Chicago area. The outside, hallways, and elevator are dated, but the rooms are nice. The bathroom is small, but the mirror/vanity area is adequate. Our king size bed was comfortable, and the room was clean. This hotel is close to many restaurants and shopping centers. Right across the street from McDonald's, Rain Forest Cafe, and Hard Rock Cafe. Close to Nordstroms Shopping Mall.

« Jabig and Wallace are amazing! »

Was there for the NRA show and stayed at this Best Western! Jabig and Wallace were very welcoming and informative. They help us out with what to do and where to go. Thank you! Only downfall to this hotel it is on a very very busy street and you can hear everything. Including other people in their room.

« Great prices, great bed »

This hotel is conveniently located in the River North district of Chicago, close to the Magnificent Mile, Navy Pier and many great restaurants. The hotel is being updated (it's in an older building) but our room was very modern and spacious. The bed was great. I slept better there than I do in my own bed at home. The bathroom was roomy, with a great shower with good water pressure and plenty of hot water. My only complaint with the shower is that I couldn't adjust my shower head. The walls of the hotel are fairly thin and I could hear my neighbors and housekeeping doing laundry. But this was only during the day. The hotel was very quiet in the evening and at night. The layout of the hotel is a little odd and doesn't "flow.". Rooms aren't in numerical order in some spots, but the little alcoves account for that. There are 2 elevators and we never had to wait long for one. I really enjoyed this hotel and if I return to Chicago, I plan on staying here. There is roof top seating which is really nice, a nice indoor pool and workout area. There is parking available if you need it. This location also has a restaurant but we never ate there. The free coffee in the morning is actually very, very good for hotel coffee.

    3
    « Great Location »

This hotel is being updated. We were in a newly updated room so the room felt fresh. However, there were no signs up to find the room. Since there were multiple hallways, it took us a while to find our room. We had a double bed room. Beds were full and not queen. We didn't use the pool, but it looked nice. There was a small 3 piece gym as well. A deck/balcony off of the pool area was nice and had beautiful views. Elevators were extremely small and slow. We opted for the stairs most times. Parking was nicely priced for Chicago ($25/night or $35/night if you want to go in/out). We called multiple times the morning of checkout to see if we could get a late checkout; however, no one would answer the phone. We went down to the front desk, everyone was in the back room. They eventually came out and gave us a late checkout (12 pm) which was great as we had 2 people who were running the Chicago Half Marathon and needed to take showers.

« Awesome Trip-Best Hotel we ever stayed in while in Chicago. »

I have to admit that I was a bit nervous when we checked in and I saw some construction going on, plus towels hanging in the bathroom were dirty, and our room had no refrigerator like I had requested. However one stop down at the front desk and right away the towels were replaced along with extra towels given, refrigerator and microwave were put into our room at no charge, and construction was never a problem for us. We were on the sixth floor and not once did I hear anything. Front desk was so helpful and friendly. Anything we needed or any questions we had were answered and taken care of right away. Room was kept clean and tidy. Never had to complain about anything going on in the room. Room was well taken care of. Housekeeping was awesome and very helpful. Also door men were great with helping with luggage and bags throughout the week. Parking was never an issue. Parking fees were very cheap and reasonable for the Downtown Chicago area. Parking attendants were very helpful and friendly. Gave us directions on many of occasions. Pool was very clean and great to swim in. A bit of the windy days it was cold but still refreshing. I swam all eight days we were there. Work out room wasn't very big but had three pieces of equipment that got the job done. My husband used it every day. Deck area off the pool had an amazing view and was an awesome place to see the city at night. Hotel is right off of the double decker tour bus stop, within walking distance of almost everything. We only moved on our car one time the whole eight days we were there. Breakfast is not included in the stay, but there is a nice little restaurant attached to the hotel and plenty of other places near by. Recommend this hotel to everyone and anyone staying in Chicago. Made our vacation awesome. Only downfall is the elevator is very small and very slow. Recommend taking the steps when you can.

« Easy to get to »

I had reserved two king rooms. One was ready at 230p.m. when we arrived for check in, the other was almost ready. we all went to the first room, very large, spacious, very nice. When the second room was ready my husband and I went to it. HALF the size of the other one. SAME PRICE. The rooms were very clean. They are painting the interior, which will be very nice when complete. Area was easy to walk to many things as I did not want to pay to park at several places. Hotel does charge to park.

    « Better than expected »

We have stayed in a few Best Westerns in recent years and have not been overly impressed in most cases. We were going to stay here a couple of years ago, when we noted there were no parking charges. This has since changed so we made the decision to delay picking up our rental car until the day we left Chicago. The outside of the hotel is nothing special but the lobby was nicely decorated and the staff very friendly and helpful. The room was a bit drab with old furnishings and bathroom but it was very clean and the bed was comfortable. Our room was next to an elevator which normally concerns me due to additional noise but this was not an issue. Being in a big city there is a considerable amount of traffic noise (particularly sirens!) but we still managed to sleep very well. We ate breakfast at Pizzeria Ora for each of the four mornings of our stay and found the food and service to be good. The location of the hotel is great, within easy walking distance to Michigan Avenue, close to public transport (which was really easy to use) and just across the road from the Hard Rock Cafe and Rainforest Cafe. Other restaurants, including Pizzeria Uno, were nearby. This is a no-frills hotel but it served as an excellent base for exploring Chicago and we would definitely stay here again if we were fortunate enough to come back to Chicago - they just need to sort out the elevator which had a tendency to break down!

    2
    « Not impressed »

We chose to stay at this hotel for simple fact that it was the closest hotel to where we needed to be that had a pool. Linens and whatnot seemed clean, but carpeting, curtains, etc. have seen better days. Ice machine was broken and there was no where to get beverages, so my husband ended up having to walk to a store to get us some bottles of water. Many areas of the hotel had a skunky smell and felt very dark and claustrophobic. The elevator was the same way. We took it a couple of times, but I felt like one of my worst fears would be realized and I would get trapped. Being 8 months pregnant, I didn't want to chance it so we took the stairs the remainder of our one night stay. We did go to the pool, which was fine. There isn't controlled access though, so anyone could come into the pool area even if they weren't a hotel guest. It was also pretty chilly as far as water and air temperature go. I also ended up with pink eye the next day. I can't say for sure that I got it at the hotel, but you never know. Thank goodness we were only there for one night. For the nearly $300 price tag for a one-night stay in a King room, I think there are much better options out there.

    2
    « Noise Problems »

The overall stay was okay, but the people in the room next to us were excessively loud until around 3am. Nothing was done when this was reported. I reported them again during checkout. We were unable to sleep during most of our stay here due to this. The room was clean, but for the price, and the staffs inability help us with our noise problem, I would not recommend this hotel.

« Great value in a great location! »

The location of this hotel and the reasonable rates make this hotel and excellent value. The lobby and many of the rooms have been recently renovated and are very nice! The proximity to Moody Bible Institute makes this hotel a perfect choice for our family while in Chicago visiting our son while he was in school. Friendly staff too! Would definitely stay here again!

The room was clean and modern (bathroom was 'retro' but still clean). Staff was friendly and helpful. While comparing hotels for our stay it was evident that the Best Western offered very reasonable room and parking rates for such a great location. When we booked the room we were aware of the ongoing renovations however, we were never bothered by any of it. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

« Would have been ok except for the construction. »

PROS - friendly staff - great location - good price - parking was expensive - no breakfast - they were completely reno-ing our entire floor. They were paiinting and sawing and hammering from 7 AM - around 9 PM

« Not Impressed with hidden Fees »

We drove over 4 hours from a small town in Michigan to a major city, Chicago, to celebrate Mother's Day. I took the wife and our 5 kids with us for a fun day at the zoo and other attractions. However, upon arrival at the hotel, I was told I would have to pay an extra $25 for parking if I didn't go anywhere, and $35 if I wanted to leave and come back. This was a shock to me as I did not see anywhere where I would be charged for parking or if it did, just the generic, "blah blah blah and parking fee may be extra," but nowhere of the cost. This was not pleasing as I set aside a budget for this trip for it was pretty costly with the whole family. I am not used to the Big City and in Grand Rapids where we stay often, we are not charged for parking. The charge is not the issue, its the hidden cost that is not transparent or stated anywhere that is the problem for me. The room was Amazing! It was clean, spacious, and lots of windows where the kids could get up on the ledges and look at the city building all around. The pool was great as well. I am not that impressed with the extra and unknown cost I experienced on this trip that took away from our family experience in doing activities.

« Great stay in River North »

Very nice hotel at reasonable price in Chicago. Staff were professional and friendly; a call about "broken" tub drain (actually our misunderstanding on how it worked) resulted in someone at our room in less than 10 minutes. Even though we were in one of the rooms that hadn't been remodeled yet, it was clean and contemporary.

    « Great »

It was a quick trip to Chicago for our son's graduation from Loyola University. The coordination of room and the surrounding area was outstanding. I would have to say I will be back to this hotel. Everything went very well. It was a late arrival but we had a great room and it has very comfortable.

    « Quiet Convenient Stay »

Very nice stay. Parking is a bit expensive but probably the going rate in Chicago. Within walking distance of many places. Nice restaurant and bar. Did not use the restaurant, but saw food being served that looked very good. Staff was extremely friendly and customer service orientated. Not sure if there is a complimentary breakfast.

    « Pleasant Stay »

Very comfortable. Staff quite responsive and attentive. This is our hotel of choice when in Chicago. Lends itself to easy in and out of the Chicago Loop. Good value for price. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and associates.

    « Customer Service - Front Desk »

This review is solely for the front desk representative, Dawon. He is very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and kind. He was able to answer each and every question i had without loosing patience, not once (and we had been on the phone for 20+ minutes). I hope that upon my arrival for my stay this upcoming memorial day weekend, he will be there, so i can thank him in person. His managers need to know that they have a true asset on their team. PROMOTE HIM!

    « Location...Location...Location »

This is a wonderfully modern and clean property right in the heart of many terrific must-see Chicago destinations. Besides the inhouse restaurant...there are many others--ranging from upscale to drive-thrus--in the immediate vicinity. [Hard Rock Cafe/Rainforest Cafe/Gino's East/Portillos/McDonalds...to name just a few.] When we arrived to check in we were notified that we had been given a complimentary upgrade to a suite based on my loyalty status. What an absolutely pleasant surprise considering I was traveling with a very small person and we were on vacation for several days in Chicago...very much appreciated. The room was bright and spacious and appeared to be newly renovated. Side note: this property is currently undergoing some very non-invasive modernizations throughout. We wouldn't have even known had we not seen a few painting items in an area near the ice machine. The room had a separate living area with an additional television which came in handy in the evenings after my little one's bedtime. The bed was comfortable and inviting...linens fresh and clean. Decor was nice...with attention to detail. The bathroom had a funky black and white tile design...and an at least semi-rubber floor...very smart when it comes to slippery/wet post-shower splashes. Shampoo/body wash/conditioner are in the shower in a dispenser. Bath linens were of good quality and plush. Other suite features were: an armoire/in-room safe/single-cup [not Keurig] coffee maker/mini fridge/individually controlled heating/AC unit/work desk and chair. The indoor pool and small fitness room are located on the top floor of the hotel. This makes for some pretty stunning views while relaxing poolside. [There is no hot tub.] Right off of the pool is a rooftop patio where you can overlook a few different views of the area...lots to see. My only complaint is that there weren't any chairs or tables out there...would've been nice to sit and soak in the sun for a bit. The pool area is large and the pool itself gets fairly deep...8 feet at its deepest...easy to do laps in. Although the hotel doesn't offer complimentary breakfast...there is an attached restaurant: Pizzeria Ora...which does serve breakfast/lunch/dinner...and has a full bar. We only had breakfast once while staying. We weren't overly pleased as the food seemed dry and/or overcooked. I had the Eggs Benedict and the sauce tasted more like a spiced cheese than a hollandaise sauce...gave it an off flavor. Eggs were cooked perfectly though. We had to ask our server for a children's menu after a regular one was offered instead. Just seemed like we were somewhat a burden to our server...or maybe he was new? Either way...not memorable service. We did order a traditional deep dish Chicago style pizza on a different night and it too was nothing to write home about. Again though...manymany choices nearby. They do offer complimentary 24-hour coffee in the lobby...along with guest-use computers/printers. There is a pay parking ramp onsite...with valet parking available. While we didn't use this service...I believe it was a straight fee of $25.00/daily...or $35.00/daily with in/out privileges. We did ask the staff to call taxis for us on a few occasions and they were outside almost as quickly as we were...no waiting! This property is very well located...so much to see and do within a reasonable walking distance...or just a short cab ride. Within the immediate area are both a Walgreens and a Jewel grocery store...which we took advantage of. Navy Pier was just a cheap city bus ride away and Michigan Avenue is not more than 9 blocks down the street. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring our temporary neighborhood. All staff...from the front desk...to housekeeping to the parking and lobby attendants were just superb. All very welcoming and helpful. The property appears to be divided up into two separate...yet connected buildings. We found this a bit confusing when venturing out for ice or sodas. Nothing too inconvenient...just different. It is probably one of the cleanest hotels I've been to in some time. It seemed no matter what time of the day or night...housekeeping staff was always visible in some area cleaning or tending to something. Very nice to see that they take such pride in their hotel. I would absolutely stay at this location again...and recommend it enthusiastically. We hope to return sooner than later!

« "IDEAL" so look no further »

"Best Western R.N." offer "Best" deal in this area. Decently priced gives your wallet a break. Easy access from airport via subway. Exit Clark/Lake stop is a 10 minute walk or 3 minute cab ride $5. Upon entering hotel, very clean, contemporary lobby. Staff, Danielle, DeAndree and Stephanie were right "on it". Extremely polite and friendly with a smile. Very efficient. Within a few minutes, was checked in. Early arrival so room was not ready. However, was secured within a reasonable time. Decided to relax and have a nice, hot cup of coffee which was very welcoming; set up off to the side, in the brightly lit lobby area with very nice seating. A nice respite with the large windows overlooking an intersection of Ohio St. A morning paper is offered to the guests which is a nice touch. While waiting for the room, decided to make plans for the 2 full days in Chicago. The Concierge, Wallace, was "the man". His friendly, competent demeanor was "spot on". Having talked to Anthony prior to leaving home, was primed with information how to enjoy Chicago with a limited time frame. Anthony suggested a bus tour one day; and, a boat tour the other day. Perfect. Instructed us to see "Wallace" when we arrived. And, so we did. He make all the arrangements and gave a few extra pointers as well. Armed with a city map, we were all set. Coming and going through the hotel, when Wallace saw us always inquired as to how we were doing and if he could help additionally in any way, just ask. The room was large and very clean as was the large bathroom. A little dated; BUT, everything worked well with plenty of hot water and little amenities made it feel like we were in our own homes. Room was in back of the main building which I preferred as we were two senior ladies travelling. Would certainly stay here again because of the location, price, safety and easy walk to anything worth while seeing or just a lovely stroll. Kudos to this hotel and their staff. An asset, for sure.

    « Good Value Stay »

I stayed at this hotel with my husband and 5 year old for two nights and thought the hotel was clean and good value that included a pool. Parking reasonable for the area. We did not experience any construction noise due to renovations, but our room was in front of the ice machine and vending. After I asked, the front desk had our luggage moved to another room while we were out. A large suite that was very quiet. Great location and staff. Not super fancy, but new decor and furniture. Indoor pool good for family time and great location. A Best Western, but I would rather enjoy my time in the city.

    « Best Western Hotel April 27, 2015 »

Conveniently located hotel for a one-day conference I attended about a block away, at a reasonable nightly rate. Desk staff were very courteous and professional. Hotel rooms and the hotel itself are dated, but have been rehabilitated. Rooms are comfortable, but there is much outside traffic noise coming through the windows and ventilation units. Parking was free, but now is $25 per night, and $35 with in-out privileges. You can keep your car parked there all day for no additional cost.

« Great little hotel in downtown Chicago »

We loved this hotel in Chicago! It was nice and clean, even though they are in the middle of renovating. The staff was great from check in to check out. One night there was a lot of noise from the room above us at 2am and after calling down to the front desk it was taken care of. We so appreciated it since we had my 1 yr old niece with us. The hotel was a great location for walking to the mag mile for shopping. The parking was pretty inexpensive, also!

    4
« Good Value in Magnificent Mile area »

Stayed for two nights. There are lots of renovations when we were there but I have to say that the noise never bothered us a bit. Hotel is dated, and the layout could be tricky, elevator is slow, wi-fi is a bit spotty. Still, I would say we are pleased with our experience. We got good value considering the rates for other hotel in the area, most especially that we have a vehicle. This property has one of the cheapset overnight parking rate in the area. Pool is OK (although I would advise be familiar with the floor plan before going there), staff are OK, Pizzeria/Lounge on site is also OK. Overall, we would consider this hotel if we would be back in the Chicago Loop.

    3
    « Comfortable and convenient »

This hotel offered a comfortable room, very friendly and accommodating staff and a very nice in-house restaurant. We would definitely stay there again, The only drawback to this room was the amount of noise coming from the street below.

« Bang for you buck »

We have stayed at this hotel a few times in the past so when they had a great deal we decided to jump on the price. It's in a great location for our shopping and food needs. We checked in kinda later but was problem at all getting us a parking spot and into our room fairly quickly. Was a little disappointed that parking wasn't free anymore, that was the highlight of this hotel and a big reason why we choose stay here. Who wouldn't jump on free parking. It was only $25 cheapest by far from a lot of areas but still disappointed being a loyal customer to this hotel and having extra charges. Our room was upgraded into a king suite vs just a king room and it was very nice. Couldn't believe all the room and love the retro bathrooms they still have. Overall we had a great stay with just parking being an unexpected factor and another thing our room was on the corner and very loud for city traffic. If your not used to it be prepared to be up most of the night as every water main hole was hit by every passing car. Being on third floor was convenient but very loud. Maybe have a better way to block noise in such an amazing room would help. We'd definitely stay here when we are downtown again but request another floor/rooms away from roadway.

« Great location, great staff and a great Hotel!! »

At a reasonable price with an indoor pool and a concierge named Wallace that can't be beat. For a relaxing stay in the heart of downtown Chicago this hotel must be one of the best! Close to the bus and subway lines. Great restaurants are close by and the variety excels.

    2
« Great location, ok amenities »

Ups: The location is great! Right in the heart of some great restaurants and easy access. Very friendly staff, and always accommodating. Downs: I had to walk outside to get to the lobby from my room. Wifi signal was very weak in my room, and I had to stream my business conference from the bathroom for a signal. AC unit is loud and rattled. Drain in bathtub was slow, so you are standing in a pool the whole time. The beds weren't the most comfortable and the sheets, though clean were stiff and scratchy. An overall fair deal for the price.

    3
« No access to pillows, blankets and sheets until morning. »

Staff was great in contacting me and making sure that I was able to check in late and did their best to accommodate our request to have our two rooms close together. However there was no extra pillows in the room for those who are using the pull out sofa, we did not realize this until after we had return back from our outing. I called down to the front desk and was told that there was no pillow and no sheets, because housekeeping was not there, and there will no be access until the morning. Elevators are small, but parking attendant and check in staff was friendly and helpful.

« Great place for price »

Great staff, rooms are satisfactory and meet the basic essentials. Arrived during midnight for business trip and staff was very helpful and were able to accommadate 15+ plus people. We had a slight confusion on room placement and night staff was able to figure it out and get things sorted out in a timely manner. Would definitely recommend for people visiting for business trips and looking for a place near the loop area.

    « Always a great experience »

Convenient location, terrific staff, nice rooms. Quiet in my backside room. Nice pool deck and outdoor patio. Enjoy a beer at the restaurant/bar. Plenty of eating options within walking distance (many local choices make it a tough decision on where to eat).

« Excellent Service and Rooms very nice »

Loved the room we stayed in and the welcoming by the Door guys and the restaurant employees and the food was great and the hotel was very clean and location was very convenient. We will for sure stay at this hotel again. We felt very welcomed and safe.

    « Great Stay »

The BW River North is in a great location, with very nice amenities and a great staff. No other place in Chicago to really choose but this hotel. It is close to everything and very reasonably priced. If you are looking for a great place to stay, choose this hotel.

    3
« Great Staff not so Great Rooms »

Upon entering the hotel the lobby is very clean and stylish. All of the staff from the front desk associate to the concierge were extremely nice and friendly! The room on the other hand was a total 360 from the lobby. It was extremely outdated and needs a fresh coat of paint. It was very barren and dull. There were marks along the walls and weird almost like wax or gum stains on the floor. The room was clean ( I think) but it definitely needs some upkeep. That being said I would like to reiterate that the staff was amazing!!

    3
« Great location, the staff is very helpful. I recommend. »

The hotel was in the middle of renovations for updates, but there were no noise problems. The only complaint I have is that the elevator is way too slow and it gets confused easily. With that said, I wouldn't hesitate to book this hotel again because of the great location and the friendly, helpul staff. We liked the location because it's very walkable to all the best things that downtown Chicago has to offer. If the place you're going is too far, then the parking lot attendant (sorry, we didn't get his name) is right there to flag down a cab.

« Convenient location, needs some work »

We chose this hotel for its location, it was close to a meeting site. I liked that it was easy to get to. It was also across the street from the Hard Rock Cafe and Rain Forest Cafe. Parking was an extra $25 for valet parking overnight. Our room was on the second floor and the hallway and some of the rooms were being renovated. The hallway was in definite need of repair. The elevators were rickety and there was no elevator to the second floor from the lobby. We had to exit the lobby and go out the parking garage to get to the elevator. Our room was nice and clean except we tracked dirt from the carpet into the bed. The bed was comfortable. Nothing super fancy, but completely adequate and all we needed. The bathroom was clean ( except the vent above the shower). It could use some updates at some point. On site restaurant was pretty good. Italian sandwich was great and Chicago style pizza was good. Tip: do not order a specialty pizza and make substitutions, you will be charged the price of the pizza plus an extra $1.35 per subbed topping. Somehow we paid over $21 for a pizza that was $15.95 in the menu.

« Very sufficient for the price »

I stayed here while visiting Chicago two weeks ago with my two kids for the first time. Overall it was a good experience. We were staying on 3rd floor, which was under construction. The only inconvenience with that was walking on tarps and around some workers during the day. We were only in the hotel room in the evenings though, and for that time it was peaceful. It was clean, but the room had a certain smell, which we rectified by getting an air freshener at Walgreens across the street. The beds were okay. The TV channels were poor signal and not many to choose from. There was no sort of continental breakfast provided, but the restaurant on site has a good breakfast available at a reasonable price. The highlight for us was the very large pool on the top floor and the cool view at night time. The roof top deck looked nice too, maybe next time we visit in warmer weather. The parking attendants were helpful and the price of parking was reasonable. The location was also great and had many restaurants, etc nearby. It's not a 5 star, but when you don't want to take out a loan for a hotel room, it certainly does the trick. I would go back.

    5
« Good time in Chicago ... again »

Always enjoy staying here. Great location in downtown Chicago. Rooms are clean. Front desk has always been helpful. Parking is available at one of the cheapest rates of any hotel downtown. Overall, it's our go-to for any trip we make to the Windy City.

    2
« Certainly not the best stay »

I would avoid this hotel at all costs unless you don't mind cleaning your own hotel room and are ok with the staff trying to increase the rate at check-in. The staff was very friendly but they seemed to be less than knowledgeable about check-in and the cleaning staff failed to clean the room properly before our stay and made little attempts to do so while we were there. The modern room decor looks good but there is construction going on in every wing of the building and we had to walk over tarps for 2 days to get to our room. I would not recommend this location/chain to anyone.

    4
    « Chicago »

Very small rooms. Construction was also going on. Room was neat and clean but extremely tight quarters. Beds were very comfortable but did not have many TV channels. Great location in downtown Chicago.

    3
« Parking is no longer included in stay »

I was disappointed I wasn't allowed to cancel my stay that I booked online not knowing parking was no longer included in stay. If I would have know I would have booked a hotel on a 3rd party site and it would have been at 4star or higher for cheaper than what I paid to stay at Best Western.

    3
    « Second time we've stayed here »

It was maybe three years ago when they offered free parking and their rooms were less. The suites are great for families IF you bring blow up beds which we did. Lots of room for them and still able to get around. Bathrooms are small but sink is outside it so two people can get ready at same time. We were in room 546 and the pull out sofa was not comfortable and was broken. So grandkids slept on just sofa part. We were 5 in the room and it worked. I was surprised I didn't hear traffic but I listen to audio book on headphone at night. Probably stay again. Staff very nice.

    2
    « Chose another hotel »

The king-size room was small and uncomfortable. The bathroom arrangement was awkward. There was hair in the ice bucket, the toilet did not flush properly, and the sink was clogged. Free parking was recently eliminated though 3rd party sites still list it as a feature.

    4
« great place heart of Chicago »

I would stay there on travel - great location. The outside of the building looks shabby BUT the hotel is very nice and clean. Staff is fun and very helpful. Lots of walkable activities - food, music, etc. the area is safe and easy to find.

    5
    « Awesome Stay »

Once again BW River North is the place to stay. Hotel Staff is awesome, Wallace is the Best, and Pizza Ora staff is great. We came in for the St. Patrick's Day Celebration and the location is great. Wallace lead us right down to the "spot" where they dyed the river. Gave us tips on where to go, and always gives us a laugh. He followed up with us as we checked out. renovations look great, sofa bed in Room 542 needs a lot of attention, I can assure you it has NOT been renovated. My favorite hotel in Chicago, will be back very soon.

    « Celebrated My 21st »

We loved the experience! There were 6 of us girls in a group and we had such a great stay! We had the biggest room in the hotel and it fit us perfectly! We went to a club that was 2 blocks away. There is so much to do around the hotel (eating and going out) and it always has people out and about whether it is 3 in the afternoon or 3 in the morning! The hotel was very nice, the lounge area was very nice and smelt great! We didn't get to go into the bar area but wish we could have sounded like people were having a great time in there! While us girls were leaving we were already planning our next stay!!!!

    « Excellent »

The service and decor were wonderful. The staff was nothing but friendly and helpful, the stay here made our 3 day weekend go smoothly and was pleasant. It is centrally located and we were able to walk to almost everything. They watched our luggage for us after checkout until our train left. We needed toothpaste and room service and both employees were prompt and friendly. We were upgraded for no reason and the new hotel renovations are beautiful,

    « Just ok »

Stayed here since other hotels were super expensive. My room was recently refurbished. Modern, clean, comfortable. Noisy since I was by elevator. Close to shopping and trains. Good restaurants nearby. Wish I could have turned off the fan to the heater.

    « Bad experience »

checked into your hotel yesterday on a one night stay around 4pm. We were staying here as a celebration of anniversary and a work promotion. When we got up to the 5th floor where our room was located we were surprised at the construction and floors covered in paint tarp and tools. Something you'd want to mention when someone was reserving. When we came back to our room after dinner, we wanted to rent a movie only to find that our room had no remote for our tv, that prompted a call to the front desk and a 15m wait for someone to bring it up. Then on the morning of 3/2 we were woken at 7:00a by your construction crew again working in the hallways, then about 8:15a we get a knock on the door from house keeping, are you kidding me? It was a one night stay, we have until 12 to check out so why on earth would we need our room cleaned? All in all I will not recommend your hotel nor will I book here again.

I have stayed in this hotel for over 20 yrs....hotel is in a great location for shopping, restaurants, bars and any experience you want downtown Chicago. The hotel is clean, safe & just a cab ride/walk away from many wonderful stores & venues. Blue Chicago is next door and has some of the best live Blues Chicago can offer. Parking is a good deal as well.

« It is what it is »

My friends and I went to enjoy the nightlife and the location of this place is ideal. The property is old but reasonably well maintained. Mattresses leave some to be desired, way too soft for my taste. Check in was a headache. I had requested an early check in in advance and not only was I not able to get that our rooms were not available for over an hour past the normal check in time. I was not happy with the 120 dollar bar tab that was a result of our wait. Bring bathing suits, the pool on the top floor is worth a visit for the views. The only thing that makes this place worth a look is the staff. Very friendly, very helpful. The pizza restaurant inside the hotel is also staffed by great people.

    « BW River North »

Great value for the location of this hotel. Parking lot isn't the biggest but they accommodate very well. Elevators are slow but overall the hotel itself is worth it while visiting the city. Staff has been very helpful and polite every time I've stayed at this hotel.

« More pros than cons »

I will start with the fact that, with my AAA discount i paid $129.00 to stay here on a Saturday night ($25 of that was for parking in their private lot). For this location i find that price incredible. The room was nice, two queen beds, a chair and ottoman, and a desk and chair. Very clean, no issues there. The rooftop pool (with towels provided) was clean and decent sized, even has a deep end if you want to jump in or swim laps. Nice little workout room with elliptical, treadmill and weider-type weight machine. Free use of lobby computers and printers too. The location is fantastic. So many great destinations within a few blocks -- gino's east, eggsperience, hard rock cafe just to name a few. Pizzeria Ora is attached to the hotel and their appetizers and stuffed pizza satisfied our dinner needs. The true gem of this hotel is Wallace, the parking lot attendant. Great personality and really helpful. Need a recommendation or opinion from a local? Wallace is the man to see. There are a few cons. First and foremost: the thin walls and floors. You will hear people walking in the rooms and hallways above you. You will hear their music. Know where you are--in an area of the city where people are going to be partying and going out drinking. We had some of them above us. We heard them and their music as we were going to bed and again when they got back. We were just a little unlucky in that regard, but it didn't ruin our stay. Parking is limited, and it used to be free but now is $25, an extra $10 if you want to come and go as you please. If their private lot is full you have to park across the street for $35 (?). The pool is tricky to find, as only one elevator goes to the pool level. We had were on the 3rd floor. Had to take stairs/elevator to 4th floor, navigate thru the hallway to get to elevator #1 and then up to the pool level.

« Good Hotel Gone Bad »

My family used to stay at this hotel a couple times each year. We will never stay there again after our last trip. We attempted to call the front desk 6 times with no one answering our call. There were no clean towels in the pool area but the dirty bin was overflowing. There was no hotel map and not every elevator takes you to the same place so we roamed the halls and rode every elevator just to find the pool. Although search engines say parking is free, it now costs to park. But the garage you pay for is closed. We ended up squeezing in between a large pole and an SUV where we had trouble getting out with our bags and the hotel still charged us the parking fee.

    « Belated birthday trip »

I enjoyed my stay at the Best Western River North. The staff was friendly and helpful and the hotel is clean. It's within walking distance of a lot of good restaurants and attractions. The only downside to my stay is I had to request more lotion because it wasn't replaced after I had used up the first bottle. I would recommend the hotel to anyone who is looking for a nice hotel that isn't expensive.

« Great place to stay in the River North area »

We stayed here for one night over Valentines weekend, and we wish we would have stayed here for the whole 4 nights we were in Chicago. It was in a great location, right across from Hard Rock, and less than a ten minute walk to Magnificent Mile. The lobby and room seem to have been recently updated. The staff were very friendly. The room was a descent size and the bed was very comfortable. It was relatively quiet and nicely decorated. Parking was only $25 a night, compared to the $60 a night we had to pay at our other accommodations. Only downfalls were noises of construction every now and then, but it really wasn't that bad. We would stay here again if we decided to stay in the River North area again.

Renovations are about finished here and the results are beautiful. Clean rooms, beautiful decor, new beds, new carpets, and a great staff. Our stay was enjoyable and the location can't be beat due to the proximity to dining and entertainment amenities. Good value for the price.

« Best place to stay for Moody Founder's Week »

We stay at this hotel whenever we come to Chicago in February for Moody's Founder's Week conference. They give a wonderful discount and their service is excellent. It's clean and even has a pool. The shuttle picks you up right outside for all the meetings. We usually see many friends at this hotel who are attending the same conference. Very friendly to help and serve here. Beds are very comfortable.

    4
    « Great Location/Reasonable Price »

We chose this because it was close to our conference location, the price was great, and there was a shuttle to our conference. We were very pleased over all. The hot water pressure was adequate, but a little on the low side. I was amazed at how many restaurants are in this area now! Parking was adequate but cramped. There are ongoing renovations that would have been annoying if we had been staying in our rooms much during daytime, but they don't start before 9 am so we were unaffected.

    5
    « Nice »

Our room appeared to be recently updated. It was very adequate, clean and attractive. It was very convenient for getting to the conference at Moody. Construction was going on throughout the day updating other rooms on our floor, but the noise and dust was minimal. I would stay here again.

« Really pleased with service and location »

This is the second time we have stayed at this location. The staff was friendly and helpful. The location is perfect. We could walk to the American Girl store, Gino's East, Maggiano's, the Hard Rock Cafe, the Rain Forest Cafe, different shopping centers and restaurants, etc. The only thing I was disappointed about is that they are now charging $25/night for parking. However, compared to area parking this is a reasonable rate and it makes sense that the hotel is charging since it is such a great location. They are renovating their under-ground parking garage which is another reason they told me they are now charging.

« We used to love this hotel... »

My family has stayed at this property for over twenty years. In the past we tolerated the paper thin walls and lack of updates because it is in a great location and the parking was free. Well, no more. Now you pay for parking and the hotel is undergoing some much needed updates. The staff are mostly pleasant, but we were disappointed after paying $25 for parking that we were not permitted to leave our vehicle in the lot for an additional couple of hours (we were only there for less than 17 hours). We won't be back.

    3
    « Location and Budget »

This is a great hotel if you want to be located near the center of the city and not spend a lot of money. Hotel is not very fancy, but offers a pool and observation deck. Staff is helpful and request for additional blankets and pillows was resolved promptly. Parking is available at the hotel lot which is handy and for a large city not too expensive at $25 daily.

    4
« Good value in a good location, no frills »

It is located very close to the Manificient Mile. Many food and shopping nearby. I rarely use all the amenities in a hotel so this is perfect. My room was very large and comfortable. The price was very reasonable. There is no bar or restaurant on site.

    5
    « Well Done! »

I stay here whenever I'm in Chicago. It is so convenient to downtown; you can easily walk anywhere. The rooms are comfortable, clean and the value is tremendous. The staff have been very helpful - it's my first pick when I stay in Chicago.

    5
    « My Birthday Tradition »

This was my second year at this hotel to celebrate my birthday. The location is PERFECT! They have been doing renovations, and the place is looking very modern. They are now charging for parking, but it is worth it, as I feel safe when I need to go to my car. There is always someone out there in the parking area. The rooms are very clean and the staff is awesome! I work at a hotel in Northern Michigan so it's great to find another hotel in my 2nd favorite city that meets my expectations. I LOVE the Best Western River North!

    4
    « Good experience »

We were greeted by friendly employee's and the rooms are clean and comfortable.I would recommend a stay here for anyone that has a few days worth of business in downtown Chicago and wants a place that's affordable.Keep in mind, being in downtown you will hear some traffic but its not that bad.I will for sure stay here again for business or pleasure!

    5
    « Love this hotel & staff! »

We have stayed at this hotel more than once, and have always been impressed with the helpful and polite staff. Concierge Wallace is the best! This hotel's location is central to much of what our family enjoys in Chicago. This is my "home away from home" while in the City!

    5
    « Our Stay »

we come to Chicago fairly often. When we do come down, this is always the hotel we try and book. It is right in the middle of everything, has free parking, and a very clean room.I have stayed here a couple of times now and every time it is clean and nice.

    4
« Staying for the night »

This hotels have great customer service. The front desk was very friendly and able to check in early. I was very appreciate it. My three friends and I stay there for leisure time. We went to go out and enjoy our day. I would recommended this hotel to everyone who comes in Chicago to book this hotel.

    5
    « Another Great Stay »

This is our 3rd time staying at the River North, we wouldn't stay anywhere else while visiting Chicago! The hotel wasn't busy as it was a couple days before Christmas, Brenden, at the front desk upgraded us to a suite at no charge! He was great during our stay, friendly and very personable! Great neighborhood, close to everything you need. All staff we encountered were helpful, and the room was spacious and clean. Thanks for another enjoyable stay!!

« Better than Average, Nice Services »

I'm annoyed they now charge for parking in an uncovered lot in the winter, but I'll still stay here. The price is right and the service is good. Room service is available and worth the price. Best value in the city.

    4
    « Great Location »

Stayed in room 525- King Suite. Room was supposed to accommodate 4 with a pullout and king bed. Pullout was a twin size so a rollaway was necessary. Room was clean. Staff was great. Large room for a downtown Chicago hotel. Pool was a little cool for my taste but adequate for the kids. Free parking is no longer offered but parking is offered and inexpensive for Chicago $35 for in/out $25 if not. I have stayed before and would stay again. There is construction but we did not hear it and it did not hinder our stay as mentioned by others.

    4
« Good value, but renovations ongoing »

This hotel is still renovating the parking garage and lobby. Overall, we had a very good stay but having to use 2 elevators during renovations was confusing and tiring at times. This should be much nicer when the renovations are done. Our family enjoyed the pool and fitness center several times.

    5
    « "Mini Moon" »

When we checked in they were doing some construction and upgraded our room to a suite at no charge. Clean rooms. Helpful and friendly people. Pool was perfect temperature. Close to food and entertainment. Price was right. I recommend this hotel.

    5
« Still a Good place to stay. »

We have stayed here many times and were surprised when we arrived to find out parking is no longer free. But $25/day is still cheaper than anywhere else. This was a family trip so we got a room with a pull out. The pull out didn't work but we were given a roll a way bed that worked just fine. The hotel was under renovation but the staff was excellent to keep us informed and still make our stay very nice. **Cant say enough about the staff. Wally was there as always and everyone else is always very nice and so helpful.

« ode to the previous management -- choose somewhere else now »

This has been one of our favorite hotels for a Christmas outing for years but the change of management is a true tragedy. They are unfriendly and almost annoyed you are actually staying at their hotel. With the exception of the valet (who was great!) they did not want to help us in any way. They had construction which went past the dates listed on their website and significantly influenced parking, main entrances, stairwells, elevator access, etc. and they had no concern for visitors at all. We're sad because it's been a tradition to go here but we're definitely pursing other options and would recommend you do as well.

    5
    « 12/21/2015 »

We were pleasantly surprised with the spaciousness of the rooms. Room to gather with our traveling friends and not be crowed. The hotel service was wonderful, attentive and always available. The attached bar/ restaurant was great! Good Food, reasonable prices.

    2
« No parking and loud construction »

We were only looking for a place for the night and choose Best Western River North because it was within walking distance around downtown and free parking but reasonably priced for just wanting a bed. Got to the hotel and there was no free parking like it stated when booked, nor was there any room in their lot because it was being ripped apart for construction. Right outside our window. Room was clean but old and the bed was super stiff. Shower barely worked. Definitely not worth the $190 we paid, would have rather paid an extra $60 and stayed at the Hyatt.

    1
    « Very upset »

Very upset with my visit. Booked my room through Priceline which bases all of their information off of the hotels site information which had free parking. End up driving 4 hours for a room I picked specifically for free parking only to find out they don't have free parking due to the renovations and haven't since May. Both websites at the time had guaranteed free Parking. When I called Priceline to get my 48 dollars for parking back, the hotel would not cooperate with them and refused to give me my money back. Also the person beneath my room was smoking marijuana which I did not appreciate coming up through my bathroom vents. Will NOT be coming here again or recommending it to anyone I know.

    4
    « Just One Night »

I stayed at the hotel for just one night after a business dinner. The room was spacious and I liked that it had a refrigerator and guest sitting. The bed was comfortable, but the hallways need some updating.

  • 4
    « Excellent Location - Reasonable Price »

Old-style property that was clean and reasonably well appointed, particularly for the price. A little confusing on whether or not parking was available, (It wasn't because they were doing construction. We had to pay $35/day to park at the McDonald's across the street!) but the location was great and the price cheaper than most. We walked to places like the Hancock Tower, State Street and Millennium Park from the hotel and took short cab rides to places like the Field Museum of Natural History and the Shedd Aquarium. There is no free continental breakfast that we were aware of, but there is a pizza restaurant on site that serves a decent breakfast. Overall positive experience with only minor inconveniences. (Like the parking, ice machines that weren't functional, etc.)

    1
« Totally NO REASON to ever stay here anymore »

I have stayed in this hotel 8 or 10 times in the past 15 years. It is clean. Caught TOTALLY by surprise on this stay that the do NOT offer free parking anymore! That makes it official that there is absolutely NO REASON to ever stay here again. This was all they had going for them. There are many many other hotels that are much better located to "the action" and are CHEAPER than this hotel. If you're going to have to pay $25 - $30 per night parking anyway, don't stay here!

    4
    « Our stay »

We had a very pleasant stay in Chicago. This hotel was in a great location - just blocks from public transportation. After we parked, we didn't bother using the car at all. The only drawback was that google and AAA both showed that parking was free when in fact they did have a daily charge. It would have been nice to have free breakfast but there are lots of restaurants close by. Breakfast in the hotel was a bit lacking but prices weren't too bad. Construction was happening at the hotel - lots of noise during the day but since we were gone in the morning before it started and back after they finished for the day, it was not a problem. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

    4
    « Shopping in Chicago »

Great location and great service. The staff at Best Western River North is always very friendly. Unfortunately, the shower was very weak. Probably the worst I've had at a hotel Too bad because everything else is nice at this Hotel.

    « NOISE !! »

This Hotel was booked for a conference months in advance. After a 9 hour journey with tons of paper work, I was very shocked to find out about "construction' work taking place by the cleaner and some signs on the door. I received no email, no phone call and not even told on checking in by the staff. The drilling started at 9 am and other work noises started prior at 8:30 am. The noise literally went through into bedroom and the whole room was vibrating. I could barley do any work or ever have a lie in. It was almost like noise torture. I had to for most of the time I went in really early or after the conference took my work to a near by Starbucks. Despite telling staff about this, they seemed little phased about it and expected me to just accept it. I am very angry still about the whole experience. The location was perfect for being close to main downtown area and also getting to work related locations. The bedroom was clean and wifi access was good. If you are looking at facilities there are no milk/ cream for coffee. No fridge. The safe worked fine. Oh also if you have a heavy suit case bare in mind the check in desk and where you maybe staying could be on a completely different side so don't drag your bags up the stairs till you know! Avoid this hotel if you can, in particular the next couple of weeks or find out when the work has ended!

    2
« stay away until construction is over »

Parking area is being torn out with bulldozers and jack hammers during daylight hours. Don't stay here if you want to sleep in. Rooms not very sound proof. Lots of noise from room above with stomping around at 2am.

    3
« Noisy renovation was a nasty surprise »

They are undergoing a major parking renovation with jackhammers, drilling and dust from 09:00-19:00 daily. I had booked months before- really think the rates should be reduced during this time or the management let you know before- I arrived late on a Saturday night off an international flight and was not going to start looking for alternative accommodation. I was in a single room, clean but basic with a dodgy shower control and the loudest air conditioner I have ever heard- if you need quiet to sleep this is not a good option. On the plus side it's conveniently situated and is a brisk 15 min walk from Michigan avenue. Also the staff are very friendly, helpful and efficient.

    3
    « Clean, old, basic »

Room was clean, staff friendly and helpful, limited amenities, needs updated, if all you need is a place to sleep, this will do. No extras here, if you want a small refrigerator in your room you can have it....for a fee!

    3
    « Reasonable »

Stay because reasonable price, not great, not bad. Was construction so a bit dusty, but to be expected. Room was comfortable. Had to go through what seemed like another building to get to my room. Again, nothing special, but would stay again.

    5
« Great accommodations, free parking - great value, highly recommended »

I loved the interior design and furnishings in this hotel - 1920s style, maybe? It felt like another world, which is a great feeling when you are on vacation. Comfortable room (though small), and a gigantic swimming pool with an outside sun porch on the top floor. Free parking, and a great location - we stayed for 3 nights and did not move our car once. Walking distance to Pizzeria Uno, Magnificent Mile, Millennial Park, etc. Would definitely stay here again!

  • 5
    « Pleasantly surprised »

I booked a room in this hotel because I was getting a discount with the conference. I did not have any expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the accommodations for the price. The front desk area looks neat, the staff is friendly, we got an unexpected complimentary breakfast, and a suite. The bed was very comfortable and the room clean. Will come back!

    4
« Nice hotel but get all costs upfront. »

Went to book hotel and got a price I had to be approved for my county board since this a work related conference stay. After I received a price when I booked the reservation I was charged an additional $25 per night to park and then charged an additional 20% to cover any service I might use during my stay. My original price of 232.78 turned into $282.78 and then my debit card was charged $339.34 during my stay. Be careful if you are on a budget.

    5
    « Service »

Great service. Great staff. Very friendly and accommodating. The hotel parking garage is under re-construction, so it is pretty noisy during the day 9 - 4, but thankfully, construction was only during the day and not during the night. The construction didn't really affect us as we were out and about during the day. We really liked the "complementary" breakfast as it turned out to be a full service breakfast with staff that waited on us - as opposed to a breakfast bar. Also, the front desk staff was friendly with an "I can help you with that" attitude!

    5
« Went there for a getaway weekend »

We loved our stay there, the rooms were nice , the people were GREAT. It was in a great location. We will be back next year . One person that was working up front was the best ever, his name is Wallace, if you need anything or have any questions ask him. See you all in 2016 .

    5
« Outstanding location and service! »

This location was awesome, the rooms were spotless and roomy! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The hotel was close to restaurants and a 4 minute walk to Michigan Ave and less then 25 minutes from the airport. It was easy to get a taxi or Uber and close to everything that I wanted to do in Chicago! I highly recommend the Best Western New River North and I will be staying there again when I have my next Chicago trip. The breakfast and service in the restaurant was great and convenient! The hotel also has a indoor pool which is always fun when you know it is chilly out!

    5
    « Fantastic Hotel...Great Location...Fabulous Staff!!! »

This hotel is at a great spot when you are visiting Chicago. About a $7.00 cab ride to Michigan Ave. The staff is great at answering questions about touring around, calling you a cab, in general very helpful! The room we had was spacious and exactly what we needed for 2 nights here. Definitely will be staying here again next time we visit!

    5
« The Perfect Location & Perfect for Family »

Any time we visit Chicago, we stay with our kids at the Best Western River North. Why? Because we got the Directors Suite which offered ALOT of room for the four of us. Also because of the free parking included in its own lot. But most of all it's because of the ideal location. It is right across the street from a large McDonalds, kitty-corner from Rainforest Cafe and right around the block from Potbellys Sandwiches. It is also a reasonable walk from the Magnificent Mile, which is a terrific shopping and strolling district in this great town. The staff is friendly and it has a big pool on the top floor, complete with a beautiful patio area in which you can enjoy the skyline. Our kids love it and so will yours.

    1
    « Worst Experience Ever »

This was the worst stay I have experienced with a chain hotel. Price was higher than expected, the parking was unrealistic and completely inconvenient, staff was rude, the bed had lost its springs, and the rooms weren't marked clearly.

    4
« Good Hotel, Superb Staff »

Booked this hotel because the price was good and it was close to everything. It was just blocks from Michigan Ave. and everywhere you want to be. Just a 10 min. walk to all of the shopping, restaurants and only 15min. from Navy Pier. GREAT Location. From the moment we walked into the hotel until the time we left, The staff was superb!! We were welcomed by Wallace, the Concierge, and he was nothing short of amazing. He immediately helped us map out an itinerary, helped us decide on a restaurant by asking quesitons and then made our reservations and our dinner was exactly what he promised. The service he provided is what you would expect at a 5 star luxury hotel. The room itself was nice. The hotel is older but the lobby and the room were modern and very clean. The only thing I would suggest is to get softer mattresses. The bed was quite hard. We had a great time and would definately stay there again.

    4
    « Another great stay »

I have stayed at this hotel many times over the years and have yet to be disappointed. Stayed here on a Friday night. Yes, there is construction going on, but it was quite Friday afternoon when we checked in and through Saturday when we left. Always love the free parking which we did not get this time due to construction. Easy parking across the street at $35 per day. Again, not happy to pay for it, but if you have stayed anywhere else in Chicago you can easily pay up to $75 per night to park. Planning on another stay at Best Western River North during Christmas. Updates to the hotel are looking great.

« Ok hotel friendly staff clean »

Room was clean but bath is small and outdated . Room is noisy can hear rooms around you. Note pool is closed did not let me know till I say a note in lobby. Best part was I got free parking with the site I booked the room . But others paid 25 a day.not the best hotel in river north not the worst jus ok . Very old would not stay again.

    4
    « Under construction »

This hotel should be a good one to stay at once they are done with their construction. Room was small, but very clean and the staff was very friendly. Can't speak to their pool and fitness center, since they were both closed due to construction.

    1
    « Never again »

My wife and I stayed one night to experience Chicago. The room had a hole in the floor under the carpet between the bed and the TV. There wasn't enough hot water to last for a 5 min shower. The parking was being remodeled which was a big inconvenience not to mention I was charged $25 to park that we were not informed of when reserving. There is no breakfast but there is a restaurant attached to the hotel. The road noise in the room was very loud. The picture quality of the TV was poor at best. Someone should tell the manager that there is HD TV available. All the staff were friendly.

    1
    « customer service stinks »

Hotel is old and dated. Bathroom is very small. Wall heating and air units are loud but you need to keep it on to drown out the sirens and street noise below. We were on the fifth floor and still had noise issues. Don't bother using the elevator unless you have a lot of time to burn. Check your credit card statement as well. We ended up getting billed for 3 extra nights for a duplicate room that was never used and customer service couldn't figure out how to correct. If you want to feel like an idiot, try to get them to correct one of their own mistakes. I'll stay in a tent before I ever go back to that place.

    5
« River North Best Western »

Conveniently located to many of Chicago's attractions, I try to stay at River North whenever possible. The rates are very fair, the rooms are gorgeous and well-maintained, and the staff are very friendly. This round they were undergoing renovations, however I have used the pool in the past and was supremely satisfied with the other amenities. I will definitely be staying there again in the future.

    2
« Maybe it will be better after renovation »

Lots of problems with this hotel: No handicapped access, awkward hotel entrances, difficult short-term parking for registration/check-out. Rooms and decor in serious need of updating. Fitness center not available, not all elevators go to main floor. Friendly staff helped make this visit tolerable.

    3
« NOT like it used to be... »

for the last 10 years we only stay at this hotel, if we can't get it-we change our date. VERY DISAPPOINTING of the changes. GREAT staff but prices have SKY ROCKETED, was NOT told we would not have the pool to use, park elsewhere and pay for it, NO fridge/micro as before, COLD breakfast. VERY SAD because this was an INCREDIBLE place in the past

    4
« Good Place, Good Stay »

Nice hotel in great location (Magnificent Mile is only blocks away) with restaurants and convenience stores all around. The staff was very nice and friendly upon arrival and departure. The lobby is clean and large enough to sit around and rest if you want to get out of the room for a while. The elevator does take some time to get to you but there aren't too many floors so it's not too bad. Only real complaint is that housekeeping didn't get to my room until after 4 p.m. on one of the days I was there. I had to sit around waiting in the lobby to give them time. I finally went up and still, the room hadn't been cleaned. This was in contrast to the day before when they knocked on my room at 8 a.m. Overall, though, it was a pleasant stay for a great price. Would probably stay here again.

    5
« Fantastic could not have ask for better. »

Fantastic hotel, location is really central, rooms are clean and spacious. Stayed here with my 2 daughters on a birthday treat to Chicago. Staff where excellent and very friendly, could walk to Millennium Mile and Navy Pier. Lovely little restaurant and bar in hotel with a good variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Rated in our guide book as the number 1 budget hotel in Chicago and I total agree with this on all levels. Local bus and gangster tour actually picks up across the road by the McDonalds very handy. Thanks to all the staff at the hotel we had a fab time in Chicago. Joan

« Wait for Remodeling to Be FInished! »

Excellent location, reasonable price, comfortable room with clean linens and good free internet. Faucet regulation and noise above us were annoyances in our room. Attractive breakfast was served quickly by waiters with several menu choices, but limited fruit and only one gluten free option. Staff was helpful and cheerful. HOWEVER major renovation of garage and auto entrance area resulted in dust, battering jackhammer noise during the day (even on our third floor), and having to wrestle suitcases up several steps to register, down again and opening and closing three sets of doors to reach the elevator. Without the construction I would rate the hotel higher.

  • 5
    « general »

excellent service and accomodations I would recommend it to anyone else.It was very close to the university where I was havi ng a conference only five walking blocks away. we were able to also do siteseeing and go to a famous restaurant.

« No Cancellation day of »

Flight changed, could not be in Chicago for night of reservation. Called hotel at 1:35PM and they would not cancel, saying it required a days notice (6PM day before arrival). In this day and age and airports things change for business travellers frequently and unpredictably. Stay in hotels 120+ nights a year and others have always been accommodating. Not so much here. Just a heads up for corporate travellers!

    3
    « Average »

The staff is very accomodating. The prices were high for the rooms as they were tiny. The walls were thin, the neighboring rooms above and below can be heard. The heat went out but the staff came and immediatley fixed it. The locations is great if you are looking to be downtown and want a reasonable room rate but don't expect anything much from the room.

    3
    « Under construction »

This hotel is usually very good but this fall it's under construction and we were not advised or compensated for a very loud, limited and inconvenient stay. Ask about parking, the construction and if the pool/fitness areas are open.

    2
« Wow.. dont plan on sleeping in. »

My wife and I were in Chicago for a concert and looking for a reasonably priced room to sleep in. When we arrived at the Best Western we were told the hotel had some construction going on from 9:00 am to 7 pm. We thought it wasn't a big deal until we actually got to our room. The jackhammers are so loud you can hear your TV let alone sleep or rest after a long drive. They also rattle the walls. We were also surprised when we were woke up at 8:30 am to the jackhammers starting early. We were told by the front desk the foreman had a time constraint on the dumpsters so they needed to get an early start. We were offered a 10% discount. Rooms were what to expect from a Best Western. I would have defiantly spent the extra $50 for a nice hotel if I would have known about the construction ahead of time.

    2
« Dirty room, broken shower, tons of noise »

OK for the price, this hotel isn't bad. It's a great location for a good price. The room overall isn't bad. My bathroom shower was dirty upon arrival. I was only staying overnight so I didn't bring it up. The shower had water flying everywhere. To top it all off the noise from construction the next day was insane. Staff was nice! Gave me a later checkout

    3
    « Location Main Plus »

We were here for just one night. The staff we encountered were all friendly, check in was a breeze. The building is old but clean, our room was on the smaller side and had a pretty crappy view of an alley and the back of a building. Yes there is construction noise lasting until 7pm, and the parking garage is closed as a result; I can't really fault the hotel for doing upgrades though. They do have surface parking available right next to the hotel. Did not eat on site, but have eaten there in the past and was pretty good. The location is fantastic, close to many downtown attractions and business.

    4
« Good vacation hotel for Chicage »

Well located, pricey but within the given levels of Chicago. Nice location downtown with easy access to many of the local attractions. The hotel is also fairly well insulated to noise Isn't unreasonable

    4
    « Decent »

We had stayed here before. Great location. Comfortable and safe hotel. Nice interior. It just seemed that there was a bit of false advertising. Pool and free parking were advertised which is why we choose this hotel. While making the reservation, neither were mentioned that they were under construction. Parking was across the street and $35 a night. Which we had to pay.

    2
« the location is the only good thing »

Stayed here for 1 night. There was jackhammering going on right under my room from 9am until 7pm, really lod and vibrated the room. I was unable to make calls from my room as it was hard to hear. Was not told about this until we arrived at the hotel. There is no parking available. The hotel itself is very tight, tired, small rooms and old fixtures. No idea how long the construction will be, but it is a major project underway. It is near W Hubbard St that is great for bars and clubs. It is a good location generally, that is the best and only good part of my experience.

  • 4
    « A bit noisey »

We needed a place within walking distance of everything! It was inexpensive, clean, close to most places we wanted to go. I would definitely stay here again. We stayed in a "room" that had a king bed in 1 room, 2 queens in another, and a couch in the "living area"--Very accommodating space for a big party of people!

Stayed here for one night after a drive up from Cincinnati as a stop over for a flight back to the UK. The location of the hotel is great and the parking lot is quite cheap compared to other hotels in Chicago. The staff were very friendly and check in was smooth and hassle free, everything was explained to us. There was some renovation work going on between 9am and 7pm down in the parking lot which was a bit noisy but we were warned about that so no hassle. The room was big and clean which is pretty much all I ask for, the room facilities were fine, good coffee maker, tv etc.. We went out and had a walk downtown to the lakeside, took about 20 mins, the large shopping mall Nord something or other was very close by. Across the road was the Hard Rock Cafe which served excellent food. If I were to return to Chicago in the future this would be the hotel I would choose. it pretty much ticks all boxes for value for money, location and cleanliness. great stay, thanks for looking after us.

While the location of this hotel was excellent, The attitude of the staff was somewhat arrogant. Did not follow what was advertised in the 2015 AAA travel guide. We were charged for parking, there was no complementary breakfast and a strange odor permeated the room.

The River North location is perfect for first time or long time visitors to Chicago. You are close to Michigan Avenue, restaurants and a short block away to the subway. We have stayed here three times now in the last few years.

« First Rate service in an excellent location »

We picked the Best Western River North to stay when we decided to take a week and vacation/discover the Chicago area, where we had never been - appeared to be very central, and I am a fan of Best Westerns. This turned out to be a great choice - the reception staff at the hotel were extremely welcoming and helpful at all times. The concierge/bellman, Wallace - was amazing - helping us with directions, setting up tours ( some very intersting tours to be done here) phoning places to check schedules - and then the next day checking with us to make sure everything went well, and asking what else he could do to help - a truly genuine helper !! Decor of rooms is nothing special - a bit dated as this is an older hotel, however everything was clean and working. We had a King Suite which was huge! There is a restaurant (Pizziera Ora) on main floor, which we found very handy for breakfasts - very quick service. Very nice pool, and an outdoor rooftop patio (seventh floor) provides a great spot to sit and soak up the view. When we looked at maps it initially appeared that places like the Magnificent Mile were quite a long way - after our initial Hop on Hop Off bus tour (which stops a block from the hotel) to get a lay of the land we discovered it to be easy walking distance. Hotel is a block off Clark St. - entertainment district loaded with restaurants, bars, etc. There is a great little Blues Club, Blue Chicago, just around the corner. For MacDonalds fans there is a huge (two story) one right across the street as well. We spent four days, then left Chicago to go touring for a couple of days - we then returned to Chicago and did not even consider trying out a different hotel but came striaght back to the BW - first words from Matt at check in - "welcome back !" Truly felt like a comfortable home away from home.

« Good value in River North area »

This was a good one night stay. Rooms were relatively well-updated and larger than most rooms I've had in downtown Chicago. The price was the lowest I have paid in that area. Service was very friendly. Good availability of computers and good coffee. Nothing to complain about. I would stay here again.

« Great location, brutal renovations... »

My husband and I just returned from the Best Western River North Hotel after a 4 night stay. It was our first time in Chicago and our experience was a complete mixed bag from start to finish. Pros: - Front Desk associates were friendly and helpful throughout our stay - The location of this hotel is great, especially for what we were doing (normal touristy things) We were able to walk to Millennium Park (20 mins), Navy Pier (30 mins), the river (7 mins) for brunch and our architectural boat cruise. Also close to a pharmacy and grocery store which we found convenient. - The bar/lounge was nice to have onsite- did not eat in the restaurant. Now to where things take a turn... Cons: - Our first morning we woke up to head out to breakfast, kept the Do Not Disturb sign on our door since we wouldn't be gone long, and left. Upon our return, the sign was no longer on the door, the room had been entered and cleaned and the door had been left AJAR! yup, the door was just sitting there open with no one around. Nothing was missing but that is just sketchy. (side note-if you are looking for breakfast Meli's is it. A quick 3 min walk and you will not be disappointed) - Construction- all day long, super loud banging and jack hammering right underneath the hotel. Good thing we were out of our rooms almost all day as staying in there would have been almost unbearable. I understand the need for construction, but be warned, it's loud. - Went to the fitness center one morning, not happy to find it was seemingly 100 degrees in there and the only treadmills face away from the tv? Just not a great layout and the heat, yikes. All in all definitely not the worst place i have stayed but for what we paid per night to stay there with the construction and them leaving the door to our room wide open for who knows how long I do not think we would return.

« Good location, okay as a base. »

Located within a 10 to 15 minute walk of the CTA Blue Line from O'Hare, so easy to get to. Very good deep-dish pizza place attached to hotel. Room was comfortable, above average, and cheaper than most in area. No complaints. Bring earplugs for street noise.

    « Excellent Hotel »

. The hotel was a wonderful part of our Chicago experience. Overall, all of the staff was wonderful. There was, however, one that really stood out as exceptional - the gentleman's name is Wallace. He was the icing on the cake. He was so helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. Also, the marvelous, central location of the hotel, the lovely condition of the hotel/rooms (very clean and up to date décor, spacious rooms) - we will definitely be back! The only inconvenience was the uncertainty of parking spots while the parkade was under construction. So, we just took the Amtrak in, instead of dealing with a car - turns out we didn't need a car, anyway, as the location was within walking distance of most things! Thank you very much for a wonderful stay! (PS. Priceline advertises continental breakfast - we were advised by the hotel, just by chance during a phone call, that there is no breakfast. It would probably be a good idea to clear that up with them, so they don't mislead any other customers.)

« This was a great location for a trip to Chicago. »

If you want to walk and shop on Michigan Ave this was a perfect place. There were a lot of places to eat close by. We walked to the John Hancock Tower and took a bus to Navy Pier. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The pool was huge and had restrooms complete with a shower including soap, shampoo and conditioner.

    « Well... »

We did enjoy our room. It was very nice, except for the fact that it had a cup wedged in between the wires under the desk. We were warned about construction & it stopped at 7pm. However, instead of a regular security deposit, they charge you an EXTRA $100 to authorize your stay. If you don't agree with that, they shut off your tv and all the perks besides wifi. They also double-booked our room and we were woken up by someone trying to get into our room at 4:30 in the morning.

Easy to walk to stores and restaurants. The staff was friendly and helpful. We got a renovated room which was nice. There was loud construction noises which ended at 5pm. The salt water pool was nice, but could have been 10 degrees warmer. The view at night from the roof top pool was great.

This is a great location to be able to walk around Chicago. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There are a lot of places to eat around the hotel. Right across the street is a must see McDonald's, two story with bakery upstairs. Also has neat old car sitting out in a building to see.

« There is no reason to torture yourself by staying here »

The one good thing about this hotel is that the staff are friendly and as helpful as they can be. Unfortunately, this is a terrible hotel. Getting to your room is a challenge, as the elevators are off the parking outside the lobby. The rooms are musty, stinky, and the AC AC filter must have been full of allergens. The beds are hard and they make noise when you move in them. The shower is lukewarm at best, and the bathroom is not clean. Other peoples hair, gross. And, there is the jackhammering. I could not stand more than one night there so we moved to the Fairfield Magnificent Mile, where the rate was $20 higher and the parking is $38 (instead of $25). If I could have paid somebody $33 to have saved me a terrible nights sleep and these red swollen eyes-- what a no-brainer. I will not make that mistake again. At the Fairfield Inn I've had a hot shower, soft towels, and actually looked forward to coming in for the day. Breakfast is free. My clothes still smell from the one night at Best Western. Stay away - there are other moderate hotels nearby.

Major leak in the bathroom sink area, advised front desk upon check out, really didn't care, got the impression they already knew about it. Wasn't offered any type of discount, "perk" for the next visit. oh well

« Wonderful hotel in prime location! »

This was my first time staying at Best Western I was referred to them by Moody Bible Institute. The hotel was true to pictures online. It was in a great location within walking distance to EVERYTHING in downtown Chicago. I didn't have to drive anywhere. The staff was super friendly and helpful and thee rooms were amazing. While there was construction going on it only took place during the times when I wasn't in my room, so it didn't bother me at all. I will definitely return and the FREE parking is a huge plus!
