    « Thanksgiving Getaway »

Close to family. Easy drive to brother's home. I made the reservation in August & this was the only motel in Carpinteria that met my ADA needs. The roll-in shower with seat was excellent although the countertop in sink area was too small. The pocket door to bathroom is a great idea but it wouldn't close.

« Old, needs renovation and rooms are tiny... »

First room I was given was so tiny you would have to go outside to change your mind!! Second room was a bit larger but still very small. Hotel needs a major upgrade. Bed was slanted it was so worn. I could go on and on but was just way below what I am use to in a BW Plus property...Internet was worthlessly slow... Won't stay here again.

« Better than it should be. »

We have stayed at the Best Western in Carpinteria before, went there again and this time I think it was even better. It is better than it should be for the inexpensive price they charge, especially when you get a coupon/discount offer from online sites if you watch for them. It is sooo clean. That's the first thing you will notice. Even the plants are clean. The rooms are spacious and ours had a fridge and coffeemaker and all the amenities you could want in a big name hotel. They also have a restaurant and happy hour. We went to another place in town for happy hour only to find out that the hotel bar and happy hour is preferred by the locals. We also received a continental breakfast that was very nice. You must go to the restaurant but our seats overlooked the gardens and it was lovely. Good coffee. Excellent service from the desk to the restaurant to the housekeepers you meet in the hallway. We stay here to go into Santa Barbara and go to the beach, galleries, dine. The money we save here we can put on a piece of art or dinner. It really is a hotel that we will go back to often. Oh, just thought of one negative. I had trouble manipulating the shower head to go to spray. I am not tall enough to get a good grasp of it. Anyone going to Santa Barbara or the Ventura Coast should definitely stay here.

« A fabulous hotel with great staff »

Warm and friendly staff make staying here a joy every time - I stay here once a month, and the staff efficiency and warmth is unparalleled. Rooms are good - basic hotel rooms, but the wifi is always working, no matter how many devices I'm using at a time. Highly recommend.

« Easy beach access and great food in a small town »

We discovered a small town Carpinteria earlier this year thanks to LivingSocial.com and were impressed with a great beach (easy parking and plenty of facilities) and plenty of good food restaurants - Sly's is well known and on OpenTable, and next door is a warm and welcoming Giannfranco trattoria - a family owned restaurant with amazing menu and quality of food. The BW hotel plus is conveniently located in a walking distance to those restaurants, and it has a good restaurant of its own on the 3d floor - it serves good breakfast, closed for lunch - and we never tried it for dinner. Yet. The hotel is decorated in Hispanic style, has plenty of flowers and a big fountain in the central patio with colored lights all night. We are a very senior couple and stayed at this hotel about six months ago on the way from the Bay Area to LA. We liked the area and came again with a great deal from the LivingSocial.com. At the check- in i specifically asked for a quiet room, but when we took all our luggage to the room 306, we learned that it is located at the very corner of the hotel complex OVERLOOKING THE FREE WAY!!! The front desk associate (Nathan?) was very reluctant to find us another room (probably because we came with LivingSocial vouchers) and tried to up-sell us claiming that any other room will be an upgrade and cost more! After a long begging, we got a room facing the fountain - it was not exactly a quiet solution but the sound of running water is better than the free way, so we did not complain. Nathan at the front desk was not welcoming at all! Other than that , our stay was satisfactory - the room was clean, bed - comfortable and all facilities working well. Free Breakfast was included and we tried it to our great dissatisfaction b/c there was no healthy items offered. From the breakfast menu, i ordered eggs Benedict and they were not bad except the potatoes (they tasted like two days old). Next morning a different server offered me cottage cheese instead potatoes, and it was much better option. The breakfast menu is big and can satisfy different tastes , but - again - free breakfast is a very poor offer and should be changed! Parking is free and easy at this hotel, WiFi worked well in the room.

    « Just OK »

Best Westerns are usually top notch; one of my favorite chains. This one was just OK compared to what i am used to. T'was medium priced with third party booking but a bit over-priced if direct for a next to freeway location. Was given an early room (ground floor-my request) and found the back location good for bicycle, easy unloading with hotel cart. Freeway behind wall but room was well insulated. Comfy, spacious room but no microwave. They have a restaurant upstairs and I guess they want you to eat there (food choices were good; great Cobb Salad and decent happy hour). Getting on Freeway northbound very difficult at this location due to numerous stop signs and roundabout way of getting to on ramp. Took me 12 minutes just to get on Freeway. Not real close to town, shopping or other restaurants except for a fast food and steakhouse. Housekeeping seems to own the hallways as cleaning carts are everywhere near back of hotel...along with constant animated conversation. Book higher front side rooms if you want to put space between their operations and your rest. All in all it was OK but for the price you might shop around.

« Clean Comfortable and Reasonably priced. »

My wife and I have stayed at this property twice over the last year and have been pleased both times. The rooms are clean (although a little small) and the bed is comfortable. The property seems to be well maintained. The staff is friendly. Although we didn't eat at their restaurant this trip we did previously and we were both pleased with our breakfasts. We have started staying in Carpinteria when visiting the Santa Barbara area because this is a much more pleasant hotel and a better value than some we have stayed at in recent years.

« THERE WAS A CAT UNDER MY BED »

I FOUND A CAT UNDER MY BED AFTER I HAD ALREADY SLEPT THERE A WHOLE NIGHT! And an other guest brought a boa SNAKE. And no one cared! They did nothing about the snake!! And they promised me the manager would call me about the cat, but no one called.

« Second trip just as good »

This was our second time staying here. The staff is professional and friendly. The grounds are very clean and well cared for. The lobby is elegant and there's always a large bowl filled with apples and a pitcher if ice water waiting for you. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The pool is small but good for the kiddos to burn off a little excess energy at the end of the day.

    « One nighter »

Our first night stop in the USA driving from LA to San Francisco. Really nice efficient young lady checked us in. The room was very big and comfortable. The hotel itself seemed very pleasant and well run. The only thing to be aware about is some rooms, the one we were in being one, are close to a busy road and it could effect your sleep, we had been awake traveling for over 26 hours so we would've slept anywhere!

« Do not stay here!!! »

The accommodations are horrible. Our room was old, dark and broken down. Dirty dishes were actually in front of our door when we checked in. The shower was stuck, the tiles on the floor were so broken, I had to place a towel on them. Cob webs and dirty kleenex were present in the room. Anyone from the outside can waltz right in, anytime- no security, doors are not locked. Stay somewhere else, its a ripoff here.

    « Beautiful property »

Lovely Spanish style building with lush interior courtyard. Tropical Landscaping. Easy on / off freeway. Restaurant on-site. Rooms were spacious with comfortable beds. Staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend. Would have rated a 5 if free breakfast :-)

    « The Plus is a Minus »

We went to Carpinteria to enjoy time with my granddaughter. The town is lovely, the beaches beautiful and this hotel is a disappointment. The lights in the room went on and off throughout our stay. We ended up sitting in the dark reading by the light of the cell phones! The internet service is so slow that we couldn't access YouTube or Netflix. The door on the room was out of alignment so it either stayed open or jammed closed so tightly that my granddaughter couldn't open it despite her athletic demeanor. The pool is scarcely the size of an inflatable home pool and our jacuzzi, not large, is LARGER than the one for the entire hotel! The staff was charming but helpless in the face of a deteriorating hotel

    5
    « Pleasantly surprised »

Comfortable, clean, attractive, friendly, reasonably priced.. The pool is smal, but nice. There is an early bird coffee bar & they offer flavored water in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again.

    « Anniversary Stay »

Great hotel, excellent customer service, great prices, great location, beautiful town.Very clean & cozy. Stay here you will enjoy. Good food at restaurant, nice bar , beautiful court yard, and close to tourist locations.

    « Noisy room »

Beautiful setting, right off the freeway, nice on site restaurant but my room was so noisy both from the freeway and from guests upstairs. I had the AC on but cat seems to mast the freeway traffic. Rooms are decent, clean and comfortable. Too bad it doesn't come with the standard free BW breakfast.

    5
    « Great stay »

Overall very nice. Easy on and off freeway. Short walk to downtown and beaches. No free breakfast, but plenty of nice places to eat close by. Beautiful courtyard layout. Rooms very comfortable. Nice new tv and ample cable offerings. Fast wifi.

« Best Western - Carpinteria; Good Value »

The rooms were clean, staff very friendly, and the restaurant was excellent and a good value. The freeway is VERY close, so the noise was a bit annoying - but overall the price for being so close to Santa Barbara was very good.

    3
    « Nice »

This was a nice hotel. It was clean and had a comfortable bed. The traffic is kind of loud because it's right off the freeway which isn't really bad if you want to be right off the freeway that's just what you get. The bathroom was clean and the entire facility was clean. The only complaint is the pool. It is very small, and the jacuzzi is even smaller. I was going to go in the jacuzzi but I saw 2 people in it and they looked uncomfortable.

    5
    « Once again! »

As you readers know, I have stayed at this Hotel many times, As a matter of fact, I have stayed hear for over 10 years once or twice a month and the hotel has only gained in charm! Now, it is completely remodeled and is even more lovely. The crew is professional and very friendly (except maybe one person in the bar!).

« Love the Court Yard Rooms »

I am a fan of the Best Western Hotel chains because of their reputation for good rooms at a reasonable rate but unfortunately, due to the Avon Breast Cancer walk in town, we paid double the rate. But I have to say that we really enjoyed our room with a small patio that opened up to the courtyard!

    1
    « Bad Hotel »

This is the worst designed hotel I have ever stayed in. It's surrounded by one of the most beautiful beach and mountainous area yet they built it in between the highway and the exit ramps. The views are terrible. They recently remodeled and put in fake Bird of Paradise plants. Really? Terrible decor. Really unfriendly restaurant staff, bad happy hour prices, and overall tacky restaurant with fatty food. The whole place should be demolished.

    4
« Great for a short local vacay »

We drove up, spent one night. Room and bed are OK. Location is good. Can walk to beach (just under a mile). We took the train to Santa Barbara, had a meal and wandered around State Street. Then took it back. That was the highlight for the kids! Overall clean, nice courtyard. Pool is busy and fun, although small. Good value for price.

    5
    « Great Stay »

I came to Carpinteria on a business trip and was pleasantly surprised at the level of customer service and cleanliness of the hotel. They were very professional and overall the stay exceeded my expectations.

    4
    « Oasis? »

The beautiful facility and the location of the Inn offer a viable less expensive choice for visitors to Santa Barbara and Goleta. For those on a more relaxed schedule, Santa Barbara is 25 minutes away by car unless one encounters heavier than usual traffic. As frequent travelers to SB, we decided to try it on this trip. Our room is nice. The hotel is larger and has more rooms than we expected. The neighborhood offers a lot of dining options, if one decides to not take the drive into SB vicinity. The Sunset Grill in house restaurant has reasonable priced menu and good food in generous proportions. Breakfast is busy. If you drive or walk to Linden Avenue, there are many cafes or coffee shops to choose from. We like Esau's Cafe. We did enjoy breakfast, happy hour and dinner at the in house Sunset Grille. Other notables: 1. Ana at the front desk is great, always helpful to all guests with a pleasant smile. 2. The house keeping workers all seem to work hard. However communication in English could be limited with some and may require indirect communication through another person if needed. 3. This is a nonsmoking hotel but we were exposed to a lot of second hand smoke from some staff and hotel guests smoking outside. It might be helpful to have some designated smoking areas for the smokers. 4. Hummingbirds in the courtyard were a bonus sight within the overhead shelter.

    3
    « Carpinteria BW »

Exterior looks very good, interior kind of small. The court yard rooms are not better than rooms facing out. Good that most of rooms have balcony, otherwise you fell like you are stuffed in the room. good for business trip, single person in the room. Two is a crowded in the room. Circa 10 by 10 ft pool, good for kids playing.

    « Would recommend »

I would definitely recommend this cute hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Beautiful courtyard and nice restaurant for breakfast. The town is close to Santa Barbara but not as pricey. We walked around downtown and to the beach in the afternoon and drove to Santa Barbara for dinner.

    « annual stay »

I have never had a problem at this location. I sat here once a year for the last 6 years. The staff is friendly the rooms are clean. It is quite even though it is right along the 101 freeway. on my last visit I found I was in Need of a computer and printer and was happy to see they have a business center for guest to use.

    « Best Hotel Restaurant of 2016 »

Quick overnight trip to take Grandaughter #2 on a tour of UCSB. Great overnight stay and approx $50 less expensive than properties in Santa Barbara or Goleta. Arrived late, tired and check in literally took under 2 minutes. Room was clean, on the high floor that I requested, with an outdoor patio. Beds were comfy and woke up to coffee on that outdoor patio. We could actually see the ocean. The real find was the restaurant. Locals should eat her too because the prices were very reasonable, fabulous omelets for $8.95 and amazing service. Coffee and water were kept full. The waitress overheard me wishing my daughter a happy birthday and they sang to her and served her a huge piece of chocolate cheesecake! It was a great trip!

    « Clean and Nice »

Stayed here a few times. Its a traditional Mission style looking southern CA hotel. Some updates have been done. Guest room bathroom was ok but getting dated. The bathroom had 3" tile counters with grout. The staff were very pleasant at check-in and checkout .

    « Just ok, barely »

I'd give this 2.5 stars if I was able. We stayed here as a quick overnight to get past LA before driving to Big Sur the next morning. We arrived at 10PM on a Sunday evening and were greeted by a lovely young woman at check in. That was the highlight of our trip. When we got up to the room, we had numerous issues: Remote on television not working, called to front desk but the phone was not working, only 2 bath towels and one washcloth in the bathroom though it was a room with 2 double beds. Oh, and the 2 huge spiders I had to kill when they were crawling over my daughter's bedspread didn't help either. And the a/c was cycling on and off all night very loudly. I was relieved to get up in the morning and get on the road much earlier than expected just to get out of there.

    « Awful experience »

Stayed there last night and this place was awful. We got in from the parking lot through a side door, with no lock or key required to enter the hotel at all. After a long weekend of work, I went to take a shower at about 11 PM, only to find a bunch of hairs scattered around in the bathtub (see photo for a sample of the hair I found). I called down to the front desk. - on my cell phone because the phone in the room wasn't working either - and they sent a guy up to clean it. Then, when I climbed into bed - another hair! Definitely not mine. I was grossed out, but also so exhausted that all I could do was turn off the light and go to sleep. The next morning, I went down to the front desk to talk to them about what happened, and to let them know that I expected some kind of consideration for the situation last night. They offered me 20% off, which I accepted, although I really would have preferred they comp the room entirely. The young woman at the front desk, named Ana, was quite rude and cold to me. To top it off, a friend of ours was also staying there, and she had fallen earlier in the day and hit her head. She was waiting to be picked up at 2:30 PM to go to the airport, and they refused to let her extend her stay in her room until then unless she paid for an additional half day, even though they knew that she was having a medical situation. They claimed the hotel was totally booked, but when we called from outside to try and book a room for today, it was clear they had lied because they had room for a new booking. It would have been so easy for them to let her stay an extra couple of hours in her room, while she recovered from her injury, and earn the gratitude of a customer who would say wonderful things about them in the future. Instead they were cheap, and didn't care. What idiots. Bad customer service, bad public relations, and a crappy cleaning crew who leave hairs in the bathtub. I will definitely never stay there again.

    5
    « Clean, Quiet »

My stay was as expected. The room was clean and quiet. Even the HVAC was relatively quiet and did not disturb my sleep at all. I have stayed at this hotel off and on since 1995. The rooms have been upgraded and are very pleasant. Because of the conference I attended and the rate that had been negotiated with the conference organizers, the price was great for the Santa Barbara area.

    5
« Nice place to stay »

Always comfortable and friendly. We always stay here in a courtyard room and enjoy the peace and quiet. Located near town center and quick access to freeway. The staff is always caring and attentive. Check in and check out are a breeze. They always seem happy to see us. This is a good place to stay.

    3
« They don't tell you everything upfront »

Hotel was very nice and clean. They did not tell you that this was a no smoking or E-cig town which anytime you are caught it is a $500 fine every time. I was charge extra on my card at time of check in and was told that this was not going to happen (I asked). I understand that this extra charge is refunded at time of check out but it can be day's to see it back in your account. I will not be going back to this place even those the town and beach was great

    4
    « I like this place »

Tourist from Europe first good thing is this place is easy to find. Right off exit 87 of route 101. Town sucks everthing shuts up at 9pm. Beach good but we got oil on all our shoes and feet. Hotel is well woth plus status. Clean and comfortable. Staff all so genuine and friendly except they shut down the bar and dining so quick at 9 its rude. Stayed for 4 nights. I wouls advise asking for a room in the courtyard area as freewwy 101 is very noisy. Food was good both for breakfast and dinner. Facilities pool etc all good. I would go back.

« Place to stay in Carpenteria »

This hotel is very cute looking from the outside. The staff are helpful and friendly. THere is a cute little courtyard inside the hotel which is quiet and nice place just to sit and read. The rooms are a bit dated but I noticed that toilets are being upgraded and I hope they can update the rooms a bit. It's not cheap but your close to the beach and the cute little town. It's my favorite place to stay in Carp and hopefully will continue to do so.

    5
    « Wonderful! »

Love to stay at Best Western when we travel. So many of these hotels have free, very tasty breakfast options. Making reservations online is super easy too. We will definitely use Best Western again on our future trips.

    4
    « Felt Safe »

my wife and I rode our motorcycles for a three day tip in the Santa Barbara area. we felt safe leaving our bikes in the well lit parking lot. We didn't get the chance to take advantage of the Happy Hour offered, but will do next time. The hotel also offers a nice ambiance.

    5
    « Great stay »

Enjoyed our stay at The Best Western. We booked a courtyard room and paid extra for it but were disappointed that we didn't have either a balcony or patio as promised in the description. The room was nice, quiet interior room, king size bed. There is a small pool and very small hot tub but adequate for our needs, we enjoyed the stay, clean rooms everything we needed.

  • 2
« The best I can say is it is fairly clean.... »

It's a good thing the great pictures of this property don't show the rooms, or at least not room 150! With a "view" of the underside of a stairway, you never know whether it is day or night outside. The room smells. My wife thought it might be bleach. Let's just say I hope that is all it was. They have these horrible little postage-stamp sized pillows and no matter how many of them you pile up, you can't get comfortable to sleep. The noise level was atrocious. This is the first time I ever left a hotel late at night to find an all-night drug store with ear plugs.

    5
    « Quiet and Relaxing »

Hotel and city are both quiet and relaxing. Easy to find and within walking distance to the beach and restaurants. We had planned to stay in Santa Barbara but found that area to be congested and less appealing.

    3
« Pretty hotel, but lacking a few amenities »

I am a big fan of the Best Western chain, but this location was a bit of a disappointment. I didn't book this reservation, so I can only complain a little. First off, our room faced Hwy 101, and was incredibly loud. We opened the window for some fresh air, and it was impossible to hear anything on the TV. The room was fine, bed was comfortable. I was unhappy that breakfast wasn't free, but was told that there was coffee in the lobby in the morning. My husband went down at 8am only to be told the free coffee ended at 7am. Next morning he went down at 6:45, and there was only 1 creamer left. WTH? Fortunately we found a great breakfast place nearby called Hugos. I do want to mention the nice courtyard in the middle of the hotel itself. Nice fountain, and tables to sit at, and there are balconies on the second floor that are easy to access that also have tables and chairs. Some of the rooms face the courtyard, and I would recommend them over outside rooms.

    3
    « two day stay »

I was surprised to find only one bath towel provided for two people. I need to contact front desk to request additional towels. The so called high speed internet was slow. When trying to allow a software update the connection kept shutting off making the update imposable Also, unlike previous visits to this property no breakfast was provided

    2
    « Don't believe the website! »

We went to the coast so my granddaughter could swim and spend time with me in a nice hotel. The website showed multiple images of pools, some with different backgrounds as well as a butterfly shaped jacuzzi. The ONE pool is a joke, maybe 16' square, about the size of a backyard above ground pool. The jacuzzi is smaller than the one at home. The working lights in the room went on and off at will. Door was VERY difficult to open. I do NOT recommend this location and will never return. Other than the manager, the staff was great but they can't change the website nor do the repairs themselves. Seriously, the door was an extreme fire hazard, the lights and wifi a bad joke and the "pool" is false advertising

    3
« Disappointing stay, and rooms were super-expensive due to Fiesta celebrations in Santa Barbara »

Pros:free parking/wifi, no resort fee, Sunset Grill happy hour pricing, short drive to beach, convenient to US101. Cons: uncomfortable beds & pillows (each queen bed gets 4 tiny pillows & they will NOT exchange them for 1 King pillow), sub-par housekeeping - no shower curtain upon check-in, stopped-up sink, low batteries in safe. These issues resulted in housekeeping coming to room & 2 additional visits by facilities. Also, I accidentally left an entire drawer of clothes in the room and called the hotel to report it within 4 hours but housekeeping never 'found' them when cleaning the room. I've left a few small items behind in other hotels in the past and housekeeping/the hotel has called ME to let me know they found them before I had realized it. This time, it was an entire drawer of clothes, and they never turned up!? We had a 'shared' balcony (3 rooms on 2nd and 3rd floor share one balcony, which I didn't know when I requested a balcony). each room gets 2 chairs and one small table. With a shared balcony, you cannot leave the curtain on the door open, else the others can walk by and see in the room. So you get no sunlight as there are no windows. One night, the guests next door to us sat outside playing music, drinking, talking loudly and laughing until midnight, and we had an early wake-up call, so this was irritating. However, the A/C unit is loud, so we eventually turned this on to drown them out, even though we were comfortable without it on. Overall, this hotel, was not worth the escalated prices (>$300/night) paid due to the Fiesta celebrations in nearby Santa Barbara. I would definitely research other options next time.

    5
« Nice place to stay, nice room, great feel »

The exterior of the hotel is beautiful. The room was great and bed was comfy. Staff were friendly. Interior courtyard is nice and a great gathering place for a few drinks. Restaurant on the 3rd floor is a great convenience. I'll do it again.

    3
« Four Season Price but not quality »

I have a hard time paying almost $300 for a room that is subpar in my opinion. The hotel is tired and run down. The staff upon check in informed me that even though I requested a roll away it wasn't guaranteed. Then when the room they wanted to give us couldn't accommodate a roll away we were relegated to a corner room in the back. The only other option was to upgrade to $359 for two queen beds facing the courtyard. Not great customer service. This hotel commands this price because they are the only ones of this kind in the market.

    5
« Fourth of July weekend »

We stayed here for Fourth of July weekend. The rates were pretty much double that weekend so we ended up paying a lot, but we honestly thought it was worth it. It's a very beautiful hotel. The rooms are very modern and have their own balcony. The grounds are very landscaped and peaceful. The only thing I wish was that it was a little closer to the ocean or the Main Street. We had to drive everywhere. They said it was only like a 20 minute walk to the restaurants though. Would definitely stay here again!

    4
« Very nice, clean and quite place to stay on your way to Big Sur »

We've are family of 4 spent 1 night at this place. It is definitely much cheaper than equivalent place at Santa Barbara. At the same time - if you like to spend some time in SB - there are only 10 minutes drive there. I would definitely recommend that place to the travelling families or even for business people

  • 5
« YOU DO NOT WANT TO LEAVE! »

Loved the bed, the balcony overlooking the court yard. Staff is amazing and very caring. If you plan on staying here make it more than a day because one day is not enough to enjoy your stay at this beautiful hotel!

    2
« Something is always amiss at this motel »

There is toxic mold in the lobby plants. Odor is quite detectable on entry to the building. The exterior of this motel is nice but the rooms are another story. Something is always broken or not quite in workig order. I would expect housekeeping to report problems as they are in the room and see all that is going on but they don't apparently. I have to stay there as I'm with a program that houses us there 4 times / year. I really don't look forward to this stay.

« Clean Hotel but if you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs »

This hotel was very clean, however if you are a light sleeper its off a major highway and the trucks going by can be loud. I always recommend bringing earplugs for situations such as this. My first room was under the hotel outdoor lights, i asked to move and thankfully they had another room to place me in. I can block out the noise, but bright lights are difficult.

« Cute lobby! Average rooms »

We stopped here for 1 night on our way back to LA from Monterey. The photos online made it look super updated and we liked the close proximity to the beach and restaurants. This place definitely has curb appeal with the Spanish style balconies covered in beautiful flowers, an adorable courtyard and a beautifully updated lobby. Unfortunately they stopped renovating in the lobby....there was nothing "plus" about the rooms, and nothing about the hotel to justify the cost. The rooms are small (like the king sized bed was way too big for the space) and the bathrooms are outdated. The pool is tiny, which is fine with the beach a mere 5 minute drive away, but they don't provide beach towels (although you can borrow from the pool towels). The staff Is super friendly, check in was quick and easy, and the on site restaurant's breakfast was reasonably priced and decent. This is an ok place to spend a night if you get a good deal on the price.

    « Beach Vacation »

The hotel is close to the beach; a five minute drive. The rooms are clean and decorated nicely. The hotel is attractive from the inside and out. Pool and spa could be larger. They have a restaurant, but there are also nearby restaurants as well. Fair price for the location and the time of year we stayed there; end of July.

    « Master Suite=Sweet Stay »

We planned a brief get away to Carpinteria and BW did not disappoint. We stayed from Wed-Fri and found our room on the first floor very quiet and spacious. Our room was clean and our son didn't mind sleeping on the pull-out sofa. The beds are amazingly comfortable. We felt the staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one.

« The staff needs customer service training! »

What an awful experience with the staff! While the rooms are adequate...certainly not worth $300 which is what we were charged even though we were quoted $236 over the phone. Our family was getting out of town due to a horrendous fire in our neighborhood and in the chaos didn't pay attention to the confirmation. We booked over the phone. While we should have double checked, the lack of empathy or shady practice between the quoted reservation and the actual amount charged will make us never visit again. I showed a text with the quoted rate and the flippant night manager, who sounds like another complaint here has dealt with here on trip advisor, was so callous and just replied that it wasn't his fault and we signed a contract. Enjoy your $600 Best Western "plus" (2 rooms) because you won't be seeing another dime from our family!!!

    « Quick trip »

Very nice hotel. Beautiful grounds. However one major security flaw. Although the doors are heavy and automatically close behind you. They do not fully shut! We unknowingly left our door ajar all night. And in the morning walking down the hallway noticed many others were just like it. I believe the front desk clerks should let everybody know to fully close the doors behind them. One other issue I had. There is not any coffee or tea in the lobby. Guest would love to grab one on the way out, I am sure. Great location and will stay here again.

« Refreshing Staff and Garden style »

I enjoyed my 3 night stay and found the hotel to be well located. The rooms were clean and all the amenities functioning. My adult son and I shared a room on the 3rd floor with two comfortable queen beds. We didn't get in each other's way. My son smokes and this is a smoke free zone/hotel/city. I don't smoke and wish he would quit. Don't even think about trying it as there are hefty fines. The air conditioning unit worked very well, but my son and I both had sore throats by the 2nd day, potentially from the air-con air filter. The room was clean and appeared dust free. The room had low light, possibly darker than the garden facing rooms. There was a coffee maker in the bathroom...maybe not the best looking place, a fridge - very handy. The pillows were fluffy and the linen clean.

« Nice hotel in a perfect location »

This is a nice, clean hotel, perfectly located near the main street of Carpinteria. The Staff are truly friendly, warm and attuned to the needs of guests. Directions and recommendations re: restaurants etc. given with a smile. This left us with a nice memories of our first visit to Carpinteria.

« Perfect for Beach Wedding »

Stayed at this hotel for my son's wedding which took place close by on the beach so it was very convenient. Only wish they offered a newlywed package that we could have added to their room because we were from out of state and did not know of any local vendors to obtain flowers or champagne for their room. Staff was very polite and professional. Lounge area was small with the amount of friends and family to meet up with prior to going out for rehearsal dinner. Overall experience was excellent and close to Stella Mares where we held the rehearsal dinner and the beach for the wedding and Rincon Beach Club for the wedding dinner and party. Was a bit pricey but since it was over the 4th of July weekend and so close to the beach it was expected for California (vs Tennessee)

    2
    « Family Get Together »

I would never recommend this place. The rooms were dirty and the restaurant hours are extremely limited. We were there for a family get together that involved kids and adults and the restaurant was not open at lunch time, and provided only limited breakfast and dinner hours. The rooms (we had three of them) look like the only cleaning they did was to vacuum through the middle of the room. Not all trash cans were emptied upon our arrival and there was still trash of the floor from the previous occupant.

    « Carpe e deum indeed! »

We have stayed in this particular Best Western many times over the past 14 years. It is a real gem! Very cosy and eclectic in ways--the bar and restaurant are on the third floor and the design is such that you can have a group in one section and an intimate dinner going on without a clash. The staff are pleasant, the landscaping is lush and lovely, the price reasonable. The only "negative" would be the rooms are on the small side.

    5
« Another visit to Carpinteria! »

This Hotel has undergone a major improvement effort! Everything is new! New flat screens, serious wireless internet improvement, totally new lobby, rooms have been refurbished, the restaurant/bar/gym/business center are modernized.....a total joy!

    5
« Welcoming Environment and Crew »

Great staff provided a warm and gracious welcome during check-in and check-out. Even during the stay, the staff was proactive in welcoming a person and making the resident feel good about his or her experience. Well done.

    « Not as expected »

The best things about our one night visit was the front desk agent, Ana, and the balcony to sit on off our second floor room. We went there b/c it had the highest rating of the hotels in the area. The room was very small and layout was confining and 'old' (meaning it was tough for two to be in bathroom b/c shower was behind door, get it?) The balcony was not clean...webs, bugs, and such. The room was dark. It was okay for one night, with free, plentiful parking, and easy on/off access to freeway. A plus was the restaurant (w/happy hour) on 3rd floor. We didn't eat or drink there, but it was easy for 'to go' coffee and juice in a.m. They did have chilled waters available and apples in the lobby. We would not stay there again because of the room negatives.

    « Fabulous Stay! »

This is a great hotel RIGHT off the freeway and less than 10 miles from Santa Barbara. It's clean, plenty of parking, and has a wonderful courtyard to enjoy. The town of Carpinteria is adorable and this hotel is right in the middle of it all (minutes from the beach). Loved it!

    « Too short a stay »

Stayed only one night but very pleased overall. The hotel is beautifully designed and the room was comfortable, if not large. Reasonably priced compared to those similar in Santa barbara. Very easy to locate, just off highway 101. Free parking and wifi ( good reception). Staff were all very accommodating and professional. The restaurant on the third floor is delightfully designed, into sections. The food was good and reasonable. My only grudge was that in the evening, and next to the bar, it was very noisy with bar customers who only wanted to shout. Breakfast next day was excellent. I have stayed in several Best Westerns and this is one of the best I have experienced. A very good choice if you are in the area and at a favourable price. But why don't some of these hotels provide tea in rooms? Always coffee only! I always bring my own but there are SOME Americans who drink tea, believe it or not.

« The newly renovated hotel is truly beautiful. »

What a nice Hotel!! The courtyard in the middle of the hotel is a 5 Star setting. We enjoyed sitting there every morning while we have our Starbucks coffee. We were pleasantly surprised with the room, it was very clean and nicely decorated. The restaurant serves one of the best hamburgers I have ever had. We loved Carpentaria Beach, it has become one of our favorite.

    « Relaxing stay »

My daughter and I decided to stop in Carpinteria for a visit. I checked with Best Western and was pleasantly surprised to find a great rate on a room in the summer months. Our room had all the things I require for a great stay, clean, quiet, and comfortable beds. The friendly staff was a bonus! I had not stayed at this particular Best Western for many years, I am glad I stayed and will more than likely stay again!

    « Great hotel »

We were impressed at appearance of hotel as we arrived. The lobby was just as nice as was the unexpected interior patio area. Was unusual and very welcoming. Very nice room and bath. Didn't have breakfast but had a nice restaurant overlooking the interior patio.

« Comfort and Beauty ~ this is it! »

I stay at BW Carpinteria whenever I visit my daughter in SB. Comfortable, affordable and well-maintained. The service is great and the staff caring. It's nice to sit in the hot tub and enjoy the stars at night!

    « Nice place to stay, but. . . »

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights as our base for visiting the Santa Barbara Wine Country. The hotel was clean and well kept but, 1. Housekeeping was erratic and annoying. One day the housekeeper knocked on our door at 8AM. Another day she came at 4:30 in the afternoon. Then on the last night the room next door was being vacuumed at 10 PM! 2. This hotel has absolutely the smallest pool and smallest whirlppol I have ever seen in a hotel. The pool was about 15 ft by 15 ft. As a base for the wine tasting, this was a bit further than I would have preferred. I would search Los Olivos carefully as it is in the heart of the wine country.

« Nice location and well kept »

The Best Western PLUS Carpinteria Inn, in Carpinteria, is centrally located and well maintained. The staff was professional and the experience overall lived up to the Best Western standard. The negatives to the stay included a slight odor to the room when I first got in but I took care of that just by airing out the room. I don't know what the source of the odor was, whether cleaning solutions or sewer gas but it was a first floor room so it could have come from anything sewer system I imagine. The other issue was a broken ironing board which I adapted to and left a note for housekeeping. I hope it was taken care of, I wish whomever had used it before me would have done the same for me. Overall it was a very nice Inn. I am not sure why but when I see a price on line and walk in, the price always seems to be a lot more - this is the same for every place I go - even when I book online the advertised price doesn't match the final price (I do take taxes into consideration)

    4
    « Great area »

The hotel is newly renovated. It has close beach access. A great place to visit. We will definitely be back. The beach is clean and the city is about 10 miles from Santa Barbara. A great value. My family loved it.

    « Carpinteria's best kept secret »

Beautiful hotel in great location, able to walk to a restaurant nearby, and also ate in the restaurant in hotel that overlooked the inner garden. All rooms have balconies, and very quiet, clean, and comfortable. Surrounded by a wall, feels very safe. The staff are professional, quiet, and attentive. The restaurant even let us stay after they closed and went home. Left the lights on for us.

    « Bealtifull Grounds »

The place is quite bealtiful, the garden part was the one that called my attention when looking for a place to stay. Carpinteria is a small place near the ocean; it has nice restaurants, good drinking brewers and best of all (Best Western Plus Carpinteria Inn.

    « really pretty place »

this hotel is very easy to get to, with in walking distance to a great beach. It is pretty and comfortable. The pool is tiny and barely a pool so don't plan on that, and the hot tub is also super tiny, and OLD. The restaurant upstair is expensive and not great.

    3
« Not bad for a Best Western »

I stayed here 2 nights in August 2015 on a business visit to Carpinteria. The decor and style of the hotel was nice for a Best Western motel. I guess it is the best hotel in Carpinteria.... And it is clean and adequate, though it is loud directly on the highway 101. The pool is barely bigger than a hot tub and located basically on the parking lot - not a place to relax. You can walk to the beach from here, but it is a pretty long walk on busy streets. Not a vacation destination or a luxury hotel by any means but a clean place to stay if you need to be in Carpinteria on business. I found the food in the restaurant heavy, disappointing, as coming from Europe, I prefer while in California to enjoy natural, California-style healthy cuisine and not heavy fatty flavourless overcooked American food. But I guess it is a Best Western so one should not expect gourmet. It sufficed.

    « Near Santa Barbara »

1st time visit here. Did not realize how close it was to the 101 freeway. Due to proximity, some noise was likely inevitable. 1st room was insufferable re freeway noise. Chose another - front desk was nice in accommodating a transfer. Cracked a window a bit (otherwise room gets too stuffy), but no window restrictors (which allow window only to be opened so far). Meager breakfast, about which staff seemed overly protective (it seemed they wanted to ensure we didn't eat too much). Bathroom sink emptied poorly. Blanket marginally insufficient re warmth. Business room with computer access was nice. Swimming pool very small.

    1
    « Don't stay here!! »

What a rip off! For $300 they said we could have a small room under the stairs! The lady was nice, but the men at the front desk were rude and should not be dealing with the public! The restroom in the lobby was dirty and falling apart. I highly recommend avoiding this place! We left!

    « Comfortable and convenient »

I've stayed here several times when we've gone to Carpinteria. There's only 3 choices for hotels here. The Best Western is the middle-priced and a good value for the accommodations. They've recently done some remodeling. The hotel has a very pleasant feel to it. The rooms are nicely decorated and most have balconies. The beds were quite comfortable with a selection of pillows. The nicely tiled bathroom was a good size. The big plus here is that it's right across the street from Clementine's which is the best place to eat in town. It doesn't have a free breakfast but does offer a nice room service breakfast or you can eat in the Grille for very reasonable prices and they don't gouge you on the room service. It is close to the freeway and some of the rooms do get some noise but not too bad.

    5
« Great place to stay »

Excellent service and the Inn is very nice and well maintained. Will stay here again. Front desk greeting was very professional and got an upgrade because of my loyalty to Best Western, Very nice view and maid service was very nice and helpful.

« Clean, updated and comfortable. »

My wife and I were in a handicapped room on the first floor this Spring. The room had been nicely updated. It was clean, comfortable, spacious and quiet. It had a very nice patio that opened onto a nice courtyard. The lobby and hallways leading to our room had all been updated since our last stay. In room coffee was good, and management was very accommodating with requests for additional brew packs of "Coffees of Java Trading Co." There is a small outdoor pool and a nice exercise room.

    « Christmas getaway »

The hotel had an oldish charm to it. Construction wise it was indeed old. BUT I LOVE this hotel. The age somewhat added to the charm. It was clean ,staff was great, and the restaurant upstairs served up a great Christmas dinner special. I am very satisfied with this hotel and will definitely stay here every time I head out to Santa Barbara which is 25-30 minutes away.

« Comfy and great price »

We stayed at the Inn to watch the Tour of California that was coming through town. The inn is located on the edge of Carpinteria but an easy walk to downtown. There is a cafe in the hotel that dies a good job with food and beverages. The rooms are nicely appointed with all you need as a traveler. The price point is great and makes for a nice launch pad for area attractions including Santa Barbara. You probably need a car but public transportation is mostly likely available. The beaches are nearby. Great fir walking or a biking base. The rooms on the courtyard are very nice and have patio seating and a fountain. There is a pool and small jacuzzi. The staff are friendly and accommodating. Good spot!

« THE value hotel in Carpenteria »

We've stayed here many times. And my wife almost lived here at points in time during her career. It is a great value and very attractively-appointed. And they keep upgrading it slowly but surely. My only criticism of it is that noise from the upper floors can creak into your room. If "lead foot Larry" is jumping around upstairs you will hear him IF you have a room on a lower floor. But one of the best things about it is the inside courtyard. Get a room on the first floor and enjoy that bottle of wine on your patio in their fabulous courtyard. And the wonderful agents at their front check-in desk are anxious to please.

« Lovely Two Night Stay »

We usually stay in Ventura or Santa Barbara, but we wanted to try something different yet still close by. There are several choices in Carpenteria and having never spent the night we were not sure what hotel to choose. The Best Western Plus Carpenteria Inn was the perfect choice for us. The lobby is elegant and spacious, the staff were friendly and welcoming. Our room was quite lovely and well equipped with a flat screen TV and mini fridge. WiFi excellent! This hotel is right off the freeway, but we had a courtyard room on the first floor and it was quiet. Even though it is near the end of the Blvd., you can walk to the downtown area. We did not, with two toddlers in tow. But, it is doable. There is a restaurant on the premises, as well as a hot tub and - a HEATED pool!! The heated pool was perfect after all day activities at the beach. They do have rooms with balconies that face out onto an oceanview, but with two little ones we didn't want to tempt fate...so the ground floor courtyard room was perfect. The only thing I can say negative about this room was there is no microwave. There is one microwave at the hotel in the Vending Machine-Ice machine area. But not in your room. We didn't miss it this trip, but in the past it has been handy. So...nice clean room and bathroom, friendly staff and a heated pool...we will stay here again!

    « Usual wonderful staff »

This hotel offers phenomenal staff and excellent customer service - the staff are quick to assist you with anything you need. While I had trouble sleeping due to the elephantfolk above me, the room was clean and large, the in room wifi worked very well (I had a number of work documents to deal with and had no trouble), and the staff are quick to smile and offer help. I definitely recommend this hotel.

    « Beautiful California/Spanish exterior and grounds »

Planned to spend a day in Santa Barbara, we booked a room in less expensive Carpenteria, CA. This hotel was a nice surprise. Positives: room was nice size, clean, comfortable bed and amenities. Good breakfast. Quiet with easy access to freeways, etc. Close to quaint beach area for good food (recommend Esau's Cafe at 507 Linden Ave.) Helpful staff.

« mold in rooms, broken furniture, poor beds »

I have stayed in this Best Western 5 times in the last year and there is always a problem. The staff are very nice and switch my room but there is no consistency in the rooms. Some are falling apart and have mold issues. The only consistency is the poor quality of the beds. The internet works fine. The exterior of the facility looks nice but I never know what I will get in terms of a room. Unfortunately I have had to stay here for business and in Carpinteria this is supposedly the best accommodations.

    5
    « Carpinteria Visit »

Enjoyed the visit very much. Hotel was tops! The courtyard was especially pleasant. It was only the missing Security Lock on the door which made one member somewhat anxious, (Rm 329) and the door to Rm 120 did not "self close" as expected.

    2
« Good location but hotel in poor repair »

Love Carpinteria! Good location for access to Santa Barbara and the coast. If you stay here, ask for a room facing the central courtyard. It may help to cut down on the incessant freeway noise. Property looks nice from the outside, but our room was in poor repair -- tiles coming loose from shower surround, pieces of grout coming out from between floor tiles, mildew on curtains on balcony door. Breakfast was rather expensive and service was poor. For the price, there are many much better properties in the area. We visit the area fairly frequently, and would not stay here again.

    3
    « Pretty but not a plus »

When we booked a Plus hotel we thought we would get a pillow top mattress, microwave in the room and the complimentary breakfast - not in this hotel. It is clean and there is a pretty garden but makes it makes us wonder what is standard criteria to achieve a Plus rating?

    5
    « Santa Barbara vacation »

Older property completely remodeled and well maintained. Employees are exceptional in all areas. Comfort was top notch and property is close to area beach and restaurants. I will again say how well the employees treat you with a smile and respect. They are all professionally dressed. The employees reminded me of being in a business hotel in downtown Chicago

    3
« Nice place with free parking. »

Clean, quiet and friendly with an in-house restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner (no free breakfast). A beautiful enclosed garden lush with greenery and flowers is something to see and enjoy. Close to a beautiful beach and all amenities offered in this quaint town. 15 minutes from Santa Barbara which makes it an economical choice for budget minded folks. A small pool and a jacuzzi is available. The pool is small and ok for kids. I got a 'stomach flu' and my prime suspect is the jacuzzi (the only thing I did and my wife didn't - otherwise we ate same food, etc). But I could be wrong so just a heads up to you. A minor annoyance is that our room keys kept getting de-magnetized.

    4
    « Good Best Western »

This place is nice. Seems a bit old, but loved what they have done with the building. The room was fine - fridge and coffee machine both worked great. Bed was comfy, but could hear the neighbour's TV. The gym was very small but adequate.

    « Vacation »

We enjoyed our stay at the Best Western PLUS Carpinteria, Ca. We think the prices have gone up a lot in the last year. We stay at this Best Western every year. And the prices have increased quite a bit since the last time we were here. We like this hotel because it is quiet and not a lot of crowds.

« Close to Hwy. and nice courtyard to relax in after a day of traveling »

Have stayed at this hotel several times while in Carp. area. The staff are friendly and efficient. The rooms are clean, the bed comfortable and you get a choice of pillows which I like, since many hotel pillows make it hard to sleep for me. There is no breakfast included, but I have eaten at the third floor restaurant ant it was good. There is a pool to splash around in and a hot tub to sooth aching muscles from driving. The in room fridge was helpful but for the microwave you have to travel outside to the vending area. I do plan to stay here again when in the area.

    3
« Decent hotel, but overpriced »

We stopped for one night in this old hotel. The location is very convenient, close to the freeway and only 10 min. from Santa Barbara, and at the same time within walking distance to Carpinteria downtown. Best Western makes an effort to maintain this old building. The common areas look good, especially the courtyard. If you are lucky, you will get a room with courtyard balcony. However, the rooms are clearly dated. Walls are thin and no amount of lipstick can help this pig. We had breakfast at the restaurant on the third floor. Food was OK and service was friendly, but very slow. I suggest you walk to one of the many places in downtown. In the end, we paid $200 a night for a room with two queen beds in what feels like an old motel and we don't feel like the value is there. If that's of any consolation, the free WiFi was excellent.

    5
« Great Place to Stay Just Outside of Santa Barbara »

This hotel is an affordable, clean, and efficient alternative to pricey Santa Barbara hotels and it is only about 10 miles south of town in Carpinteria. My brother and his wife recommended it and we were pleasantly surprised by the great location (freeway close) and quaint atmosphere. We will definitely be staying here again.

    « beautiful hotel »

We always try to stay at this hotel when in Carpinteria. It has a beautiful courtyard to sit and relax in. It has a restaurant and bar which has some very good food and cocktails and the staff is great. It's nice to to be able to relax and have a nightcap after a day at the beach.

« Good value, nice hotel »

This review is from our Hwy 101 and CA 1 coastal trip beginning in Astoria, OR at the Washington-Oregon border. We drove 1450 miles to Huntington Beach. Lots to do along the way and fabulous scenery. Best Western Carpenteria. Really a very good value. This is a nice hotel and is continuing to remodel the rooms. (Ours had not been remodeled but was good). Attractive lobby and is served by an elevator to upper floor rooms. We found it a very comfortable place to stay at a very reasonable price.

    3
    « Decent Accommodations »

The good - the courtyard is beautiful and a wonderful place for groups staying in separate rooms to meet together and lounge. The pool was clean albeit rather small, don't expect to be able to do laps. The bad - Grill staff speed was awful; room coffee maker still had coffee from previous guest in it; fridge was unplugged and caused my food to sour - the sign said to turn it on, not plug it in (I'm all for energy savings, but be accurate in your signage); lack of community trash cans made the courtyard and front parking area look disheveled.

« Old mattress, thin floors, clueless staffs »

It is a beautiful place with individual patio with clean room, I will give it that much. During my stay, I came across about 10 staffs. Everything they do seem to be busy work without proper training. Location of the restaurant seems like an after thought, and staff are nice enough but clueless and doesn't pay attention. We were placed to sit near a side door which they used often. We asked them to keep the door closed because of the cold air and the multiple request to different staffs seems not to resonate because we had to get up and keep closing it ourselves. I ordered yogurt with granola and got tiny yogurt with plain pecans. Lobby was under construction and tools and materials were piled in the walkway. Once settled into the room for the night, I was confronted with an old spring mattress that dipped into the center and heard every foot steps of the neighbor above and from the staircase next to us. The noise from the fridge is loud and shakes the casework when it stops at the set temperature. What a waste of a beautiful building. I definitely will discourage fellow readers to go there.

« Last minute business meeting »

Great value, service and location for our 1 day stay. Had a last minute trip and booked online. Got to the hotel after 10PM. The gentleman at the front desk was professional and pleasant. Check in was a breeze. Room was nicely appointed but may have not been booked in several days. Countertops visibly dusty but overall the room and bathroom were in good condition. Had a room with a courtyard view with a seating area which was very nice. Even though close to the freeway the ground level room was extremely quiet. Would not hesitate to book this location again. Staff and checkout very polite and friendly as well.

    3
    « Not a great value »

It is one of those properties that rest its reputation on its location not its service.... Small dated dirty rooms....many items in the room were broken or not functional. No complimentary breakfast...yikes no coffee Overall, a poor midweek value @ $130 a night

    « Bad customer service »

would not recommend you stay at this best western save your money and go elsewhere the rooms look like they haven't been updated for like 20 years the tile is come off the walls and the bathroom fan had no switch to turn on or off no fan in bathroom

    « Quite getaway »

Just left this friendly hotel which I booked with two vouchers from livingsocial.com. it's conveniently located near 405. Our room 202 was not on a freeway side, so we had good night sleep. Bed was comfortable with adequate sheers and plenty of pillows, balcony door opened for a light breeze. Bathroom had ample counter top with small toiletries and coffeemaker. No tea bags, though. Plenty of lamps with plug-ins convenient for charging get our multiple devices. WiFi strong and easy to set up. We did not have too many contacts with the staff b/c everything worked in the room and on premises; check in and check out was fast. Two-three people we met were friendly. We recommend the restaurant on the 3d floor for breakfast (after we compared it with our usual IHOP senior menu), it's clean, reasonably-priced with a great menu and fast service.

Stayed at a few Best Westerns across the US since becoming a rewards member and this one in Carpenteria is a very nice one. Staff is friendly and cordial and amenities are good. Location is close to Fwy(101), but not too close to have a noise issue and the town of Carpenteria is quaint and seems very safe for families. Not too far from local colleges (reason for visit) and offer special rates college visitors.

« Enjoyable Getaway to Carpenteria »

We stayed 2 days in Carpenteria for a quick vacation with our young boys. We chose the Best Western because Living Social was offering a great deal. We had a wonderful stay there. We needed a room with 2 queen beds and chose a room on the 2nd floor with an outside balcony. We loved it!! There were chairs on the balcony and we sat there each morning and breathed in the sea air. The room was very quiet, clean, very pretty and had everything we needed - flatscreen tv, tall fridge with freezer. Washer and dryer were down the hall, microwave upstairs. We did have a view of the 101 freeway, the mountains and Carl's Jr., but it didn't matter. We couldn't hear the freeway at all when we were in the room. It was just relaxing to have the option of being in the room or outside. The courtyard was also really beautiful with a fountain and night time lights. There were plenty of common places with tables and chairs to sit in the courtyard or on a balcony overlooking the courtyard to relax. Some inner rooms had their own courtyard balcony too. We ate in the hotel restaurant/bar 2 nights. The food was quite good and the prices were reasonable. They even had happy hour with 1/2 price well drinks. It was really nice being able to have our kids with us and to have a drink too. We also ate the Continental breakfast one morning and was so impressed with the presentation. They served us at the table and brought everything out in regular china dinnerware. Yogurt, cereal and milk, warm pastries, orange juice.

    « Frequent Guest »

I've stayed at this hotel many times. Staff is great. Restaurant good and affordable. Remodeled lobby is really nice. The bathrooms are dated but other than that, décor is nice. Always clean - which is VERY important. About a mile (or so) from the beach.

    « Beautiful Hotel/Amazing value »

It was hard to believe this was a best western property. Adorable lounge/bar on site. Gorgeous, relaxing gardens in the middle of the property. I wish the decor could be updated inside the rooms and I wish the pool were bigger. But this hotel is a great value and find for the price!

    « CARPINTERIA VISIT »

This is an excellent place to stay, with a new twist to the Best Western Plus rating. They have a fun restaurant and bar on the third floor. The food was great and so was the bar/lounge. If you are considering a place near California's coast, you might want to check this location.

    2
    « Best Western Minus »

The thin walls and gaps around the door meant I could hear every word of every conversation in the hall and next door. The world's oldest and slowest ice maker. And no microwave to heat up leftovers or make popcorn?? Even Motel 6 has that.

« Perfect for me and my 3 kids »

I stayed here for one night with my three kids and it was perfect. I called ahead of time and they were able to get me a room near the pool & gym as I requested? They have a small pool and hot tub that the kids enjoyed. The gym was nice for a hotel. They had cardio machines, free weights, and a smith machine with pull up bars. We had a 2 double room and it was nice and clean with a mini fridge. The next morning we went upstairs for breakfast and every came out as ordered. The food was reasonable and priced like Denny's. All in all I will stay here again next time I go visit Santa Barbara

    « A treasure in Carpenteria! »

I was extremely impressed with this hotel from the moment I stepped into the lobby until I departed. Very friendly, professional & caring staff. The hotel was spotless & I loved the décor of the lobby, hallways & rooms. I ordered Room Service for dinner & it was brought very quickly, still hot & tasted delicious. I would highly recommend this hotel to my family & friends.

    « Beautiful Gem »

I booked this hotel, through a Living Social voucher, for a mid week stay. We were very surprised by the beauty of the property. We will be back. Great value. Centrally located to the Santa Barbara area.

« Great hotel for your stay in Carp/SB »

This hotel never disappoints. Close to everything, beautifully decorated, moderately priced and the staff is lovely. I always stay here when I visit Carp and will definitely stay here again. Make sure to check out the courtyard- beautiful!

« Clean, Comfortable, Good Value. »

Pros: The hotel has a good pool and good bar. Our room was clean, quiet + comfortable. There were french doors in our room that led onto a cute balcony which was quaint. Well maintained grounds. Staff were friendly. Cons: Location is a bit out of the way.

« Carpenteria Inn Best Western Plus, Carpenteria, Ca »

Great staff, beautiful hotel, fantastic food at their on-site restaurant the Sunset Grill, price of food excellent. Rates great for room. Received a free upgrade to the courtyard. Clean rooms. I would stay again for sure!

« Decent, but not worth writing home about »

The hotel looks nice from the outside, but the rooms are very mediocre. The bed wasn't that comfortable at all, and it took me a long time to go to sleep. The floors also need to be redone as you can hear (and feel) the floor creek in the hallways when you're walking around. Overall it's an okay hotel, but if you have the extra money to spend, I'd stay elsewhere.

    5
    « Good value »

Stopped in late on a road trip from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara. It's only about 15 minutes from Santa Barbara and more reasonably priced. Night manager David was very hospitable. Will definitely look to stay again. Room was spacious and well appointed.

« Best Western Plus, Carpinteria. »

A very pleasant stay at this garden hotel which is situated close to all amenities and comfortable. There is a small pool located on the first floor, a gym and a guest laundry where it costs $1.50 to use the washing machine and $1 for the dryer. I thought the room was a little dark but very clean. Our room although to the front of the hotel overlooking the car park was found to be quiet. I would be happy to use this hotel again should we re-visit.

    3
    « Budget Surfer Hotel »

Decent place you can sometimes get for under $100 bucks. Stayed here a few weeks back with the wife for a valentines surf trip and it was clean and comfortable enough. Definitely nothing high class and you could tell the updates and maintenance were done in a timely manner and not to a very high standard. I'd recommend this hotel to a budget traveler not looking for anything fancy.

    3
« Clean but outdated property »

Nice, clean rooms. Very noisy air return vent in hallway. Moved rooms. Second room had stains near AC unit and on ceiling. No continental breakfast and no discounts in the hotel restaurant. Fairly affordable.

    4
    « Courtyard was a Beautiful Oasis »

The pictures of the courtyard were what sold me on booking a room at this hotel. The gardens are as beautiful as they are in the photos. Courtyard rooms are pricier but if you have a room on the second floor, there is a balcony where you can sit or there are steps down to a table and chairs where you can relax and view the fountain and beautiful plants. The 3rd floor rooms do not offer this balcony. Breakfast was not included in the price of the room but parking is free. We just felt it was odd to have the coffee maker in the bathroom. We were able to walk to downtown Carpinteria's restaurants within 10 minutes but the hotel is next to a busy highway which is the only drawback I can see about this location. Our room on the second floor faced the highway. Rooms were up to date and comfortable.

    « My happy place. »

I love this hotel. It is an easy walking distance from downtown Carpinteria. The service is excellent. The rooms on the courtyard are especially tranquil. Easy freeway access. I always look forward to my stay here.

    4
    « Mostly great.... »

Our first night we were in a room at the back of the hotel and the freeway noise is atrocious. Our remaining two nights were in a room on the inner courtyard and there is no comparison. The latter room is a delight. The rooms are clean modern and comfortable, wifi was good with excellent speed. Staff are helpful and overall I was very impressed.

    3
    « No Breakfast »

I expected more from the Best Western Plus. It would have been nice to have had a complimentary breakfast. I will probably travel a little farther next time for a hotel with a breakfast. Best Western Plus should have complimentary breakfast since you are paying more money. Of course you can spend more money and eat at their hotel restaurant.

    5
    « Nice property »

We really enjoyed our overnight here. Beautiful property and courtyard is great. The hotel is well appointed and the room was very large with a big bath as well. Located in a small community just outside of Santa Barbara - this is a great quiet choice IMO. Just 10 minutes to Santa Barbara downtown and port. The only thing I would like to see the hotel do is to secure the doors to the outdoors in the rear of the hotel - not that it is dangerous per se - but it was a wide open invitation to anyone not staying at the hotel.

    5
    « Hotel Stay »

This hotel has been recently renovated. The changes in ambience are remarkable. We have stayed at this hotel fairly often. The new decor and feel f the hotel have improved the quality of total experience. What a great improvement in the look and feel of the place!

    « Jem in Carpentina »

Great little hotel but the bartender ,Rachel, needs some attitude adjustment training and better communication skills. she needs to rethink how she handles and explains their happy hour program. Other than her this place was a pleasure and front desk people were awesome. I'd return, just not to Rachel!

    5
    « A very enjoyable experience »

This was the first time that I've stayed in a hotel in Carpinteria, and I'm so glad it was a Best Western Plus. The room was very nice and clean and the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. I was very impressed and I look forward to my next stay at this hotel.,

    4
« enjoyed most of the 2 day visit »

Very clean and nice rooms. Bed seemed new. Enjoyed the the patio doors to the inside courtyard and sleeping with doors open and to the sound of the water fountain. The one issue for us was noise from the room overhead. All footsteps resonated into the room and conversation upstairs could be clearly heard. The squeaky noises from from walking around in above room took place from about 11 pm to midnight and from about 6 am to 7 am.

    5
    « Just what I needed »

A very nice, very clean and very quiet room! Slept great on a comfy bed. I was okay with there being no free breakfast (though there is a restaurant) because I like to go out for that meal anyway, but was wishing I had a microwave in the room.

    4
    « Adequate »

To expensive for a hotel next to the freeway on valentines weekend. Didn't offer a continental bkfst. I've stayed at other Best Western hotels in san diego for less rate per night and it included a bkfst voucher and a room with a view.

    « Very nice »

We booked this place a couple days before we arrived and we had until 3pm the day before to make any changes if needed, which was nice. Was somewhat easy to get to. When we arrived we thought we were going to have a room looking towards the ocean and found out we had two options one on the second or third floor both facing the courtyard. We took the second floor room. In the end it was really nice. Great view of the courtyard! We had a made a great choice in the end. When I had to go out to the vehicle I could hear the traffic noise from the highway and when I got back to the room I told my husband we made the right choice or we would have been listening to the highway and not the beautiful waterfall that was in the courtyard. The room was nice. All up to what was said on the website. Breakfast wasn't complementary, but was good and easy to get to on the third floor. The gym they have was nice. They did have one treadmill that wasn't working. Overall a really nice place! I would stay here again!

    « Nightmare of a hotel »

Nightmare of a hotel so avoid if you can.We were allocated a dark dingy room with atrocious traffic noise from outside. The sink blocked & we told reception 3 times but they were completely disinterested. The room had a strong damp smell also.Socket hanging off wall, broken headboard. We changed rooms next morning only to find the tap for the bath water does not work so can only use shower.Disappointed

    « Hot & Cold »

Overall this is a nice hotel. The grounds are clean and the lobby is newly remodeled. Most of the staff is nice and friendly. The location of this hotel is great, close to downtown Carpinteria, beach and only 12 miles from Santa Barbara. My biggest complaint with this hotel is the mattress and pillows, to me they are so uncomfortable. My advice........bring your own pillow

    4
    « Clean, Friendly Staff »

Room was clean and tidy. Had no complaints aside from being able to hear other people go up and down the stairwell from our room. I would also like to thank David who was managing the front counter during the night, he provides exceptional service and clearly anticipates the needs of his guests. All other front desk agents were also polite and friendly. Would definitely stay again. :)

    « Birthday getaway »

Excellent experience, clean, modern hotel. Great location, will definately return. The staff went the "extra mile" to answer any questions & fulfill any requests. The hotel & it's rooms were modern. We especially liked the courtyard, very clean & peaceful. It had a "home" feel to it.

    5
    « Old California »

A charming hotel, clean, and with friendly staff. I particularly enjoyed the little balcony which faced the old fashioned courtyard. Breakfast was not included in the price but there was a restaurant on site. The carpet in the hallway was being replaced during our stay, not attractive but surely not an ongoing inconvenience. Parking and wifi were free. A good choice for accommodation, would stay again.

« Best western Carpenteria Cali »

Everyone on staff was very friendly! The rooms were amazing and very comfy. The rooms were very clean! The area was very nice, not to far from the ocean! I would go back year after year if I could! I loved every bit of this hotel!

« Ok for overnight stay »

We booked this hotel so that we could see Carpinteria. The location of the hotel is great, it's not far from the Main Street and handy for all the bars and restaurants. The hotel is really pretty, we chose a king room but it was so small, we had two suitcases and hand luggage and found we were stepping over them on the floor. Maybe we just chose the wrong room!! Breakfast was served in the on site restaurant, it was very enjoyable but there was a charge. We have stayed in other Best Western Plus hotels and the breakfast was complimentary ??

    5
« clean quiet and cozy »

we have stayed here a couple of times the rooms are super clean the staff friendly and the facilities are excellent . Whenever we plan to get away for a couple of days excellent location the local food is good and reasonable the state beach park and farmers market make this a great place to unwind and relax

« Great Place and Fantastic Manager! »

I have never felt compelled to write a review for a hotel until now! I checked in and Kyle was the most gracious and patient manager that I have dealt with! I had to change rooms a few times and he gladly helped me without complaint. I went from having an OK trip to an excellent and memorable trip because of him! Beautiful grounds too!

« A great place to stay if you are in the area »

Best Western Plus at Carpinteria was a perfect place to stay for a nearby conference. The room was clean, nicely furnished, had easy to use internet, and easy parking. The staff was warm and professional.

    « Nice place »

This is an very hotel. The rooms are quiet, good wifi and a tiny but usable fitness room made this place perfect for my business trip. The carpeting was being redone while I was there which needed the upgrade. The free morning paper was a nice touch.

    « Recommend »

We will be returning here. Front desk was very accommodating. The hotel was re-carpeting the hallway of our room and we did not have access and right away received a complimentary upgraded room. Did not have high expectations for the room service but it was actually really quick and the food was pretty good. Updated rooms and our patio had really nice furniture. We

    « Hiking Weekend »

We love Best Western Plus, Carpenteria! The first time we accidentally came across it was during one of our hiking weekends, we stayed at there and have never even considered another hotel for our future weekends in that area since. The hotel is amazing, Kevin the manager is wonderful and the bed in room 120 is heavenly!

    4
« Great Area and Value »

The hotel is going through a major interior renovation, which will make it even more enjoyable. Close to shopping, restaurants and beach. Friendly and helpful staff. Very nice amenities in room. Would recommend to friends traveling in the area.

    5
    « Friendly restaurant staff! »

The restaurant and bar employees are great, especially Barbara and Pat. The hot tub at this hotel is a little small, but nice. There is a remodel project going on at the moment. I have stayed here every month for the last two years on business trips and have enjoyed my time at this hotel.

    3
    « Disappointed »

This Best Western did not meet our expectations. Old fixtures and furnishings, needs remodeling, flaking drywall, no soap in bathroom. Exterior looked great, location was perfect, easy check-in and check-out...the staff was wonderful. Best Western wrote us and apologized.

    4
    « Very nice hotel »

Great staff, great location, good value and is undergoing renovation. This is a very pleasant place to spend for business or with family. Close to Santa Barbara, and the ocean is very near. The restaurant is average, and the bar is as well, but it's a great place to stay to visit the beaches and Santa Barbara's night life and beach life. Simple, clean, affordable, well run.

    4
« could have been better for the money spent »

the property is beautiful and well maintained the staff professional and friendly room clean, jacuzzi hot and accessable, my complaint is the toilet tank lid was broken into 3 pieces needed to be replaced or at the very least glued back together and when given choice of upstairs or down we were not informed of the construction that was happening directly outside our room in the hallway, very noisy hammering and drilling etc, the rooms are a bit pricey, overall the room was comfortable and cozy and clean. the location perfect.

    5
    « old ,but modern »

This hotel build in the old Moorish style with the attention to small details.Very nice courtyard with the beautiful fountain and small garden. All rooms have balconies and refrigerators. The restaurant on site has breakfast and dinner menu with affordable prices.

« Close to Santa Barbara »

Pros: I stayed on 2nd fl. Clean room served most basic needed as I expected. Cons: One towel was dirty. My room did not have a microwave. Externally, Hall way was sting. I tried their breakfast in the restaurant on 3rd fl. I expected a hearty breakfast, but it was not and pricy.

    1
    « Noisy! »

We were in the ground floor in this hotel and we heard walking noises from the floor above all the time, even late in the night and early in the morning. This made it difficult to sleep. The hotel is rated 3 starts but really it should be 2 stars. Had some smell in the room.

    5
    « GREAT HOTEL »

I have been to Santa Barbara many times but never thought of staying there until there was a Travelzoo deal. Loved it! Staff was great. Parking was free. I don't really care to be right in the middle of downtown Santa Barbara so Carpinteria was perfect. Especially for getting to the beach. I upgraded to a suite. The kitchen was a bit outdated but very clean. Room was huge. Bed was a bit soft but I like really firm beds so it would probably be perfect for everyone else.

    2
    « Needs work »

The Best Western Plus needs some work. Our rooms smelled like old smoke and body odor. The lobby was without any place to sit and smelled strongly of bleach. The restaurant is terrible in terms of the food and service.

    4
    « Carpenteria Experience »

A good room with a comfortable bed in an excellent location near the beach in Carpenteria. . It was a good value for the money. However, providing breakfast would have made my stay a much better experience..

    4
« Great stay near Santa Barbara »

We booked through a deal on LivingSocial, which was super easy and great value. What was great about this hotel is that it was easy access to the 101 and 15 away from Santa Barbara. Free parking (plenty of open spots) and wifi. Do ask for a "quiet" room because apparently some rooms face the expressway and can be noisy (we had to take a room with 2 queens rather than 1 king to do this). My only complaint is that we were staying 2 nights and after the first night, both of our room keys stopped working. I went to the front desk and there was a 10 minute wait to get the room key fixed because they only have 1 person at the desk at a time. But we would definitely stay again.

    2
    « Noisy »

The rooms were nice but walls were paper thin and we had a terrible night's sleep due to constant foot traffic above us. I would suggest getting a third floor room to avoid the noise or request not being placed under families with children.

    5
    « Anniversary »

Very clean, very festive at this time of year. The staff went out of their way to make our check in easy. Our room was cozy and over looked the courtyard. So pretty all decorated. We have stayed her before and never have had a bad experience.

    4
« A greaty value for money in Carpinteria »

Have stayed her for a week, and the rooms are adequately appointed. the restaurant is good and fairly priced. the housekeeping service is attentive, the front desk staff are very good and helpful, the hotel is undergoing total renovation this month, so it is a little "disheveled" but the courtyard is beautiful, the rooms nicely sized, and when the remodel is over, it will be a really great choice when you look at the prices of cheaper motels (motel 6) and more expensive (Holiday Inn Express). This is a great value and will be greater after said remodel is done

    3
    « Positive »

Lovely helpful people, clean amenities. Uncormfortable beds. Its a great value for the money and the location. The space is amazing, close to the beach, close to food and entertainment. Just far too soft beds!

« ALWAYS A GREAT PLACE TO STAY »

I've stayed at this property 12-15 times. Great value. Lobby was under construction and wish I would have known. beds are really comfortable, and staff is attentive. I really like this property, as its close to Santa Barbara yet in the quaint town of carpenteria.

    4
    « Very nice hotel »

I stayed with friends in March and really enjoyed my short stay here. Rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom had good facilities and a range of toiletries. It was easy to get to and from friend's rooms and the upstairs bar was great'

    3
« Nice staff, noisy neighbours »

We stayed here for 2 nights. It was easy to find the hotel and there was plenty of parking. We arrived after the restaurant closed at the end of the day, so we just walked to Carl's Jr next door for a bite to eat. Location was really good. The room itself was comfortable and clean. The decor was a bit outdated, but you could tell different parts of the hotel were being redone. We stayed on the 2nd floor, but the 3rd floor was getting the walls painted. On our 2nd night, one of our neighbours started playing music really loud and singing along to it. It look a couple of calls to the reception to have them stop. Other than that the stay was average.

    4
    « Comfy Inn »

I have stayed at this property several times and in general have a pleasant experience with each stay. The price range is always between $99 and $219 depending on the time of year with summer being the most popular. Close to the beach and not a very long drive to the central coast wine country. The restaurant is small but serves good food and the staff is very friendly.

    2
« Disappointed with our stay »

We had asked for a quiet room and were given a room facing a busy street and train tracks. We were unable to connect to wifi in our room. We had to go to the lobby or the restaurant to get connection. Lastly, we were not informed during our booking that the lobby was being renovated.

    4
« Thanksgiving trip to the beach »

Staff is very friendly & helpful. Lobby was in process of renovation. Excellent location. If you get room in the back of the hotel the traffic noise from freeway is very loud. Prices are good and room is good size. Bed comfortable and lots of pillows. Bathroom was a little small.

    2
« Under Construction and Under Staffed »

When I arrived with my guest for our stay, the entire hotel was under renovation. There were paint splotches on all the walls and flooring being replaced. This was not mentioned on the website anywhere. The hot tub and the pool are on two different sides of the hotel. The hot tub requires a separate key that is not mentioned at time of check-in and is so small it is nearly impossible to fit more than 2 people in it. When we returned to our room we had to call for service twice. First, the air conditioning unit was not working and second the knob used to make the water in the shower come out of the shower head was completely stuck. We had to call for service at 10:30pm in order to take a shower. Upon check-out no compensation was offered until we asked and received 10%. I will NEVER stay there again and have already advised friends to avoid the hotel.

    4
« Great comfortable place to stay! »

I like this hotel very much. The external decor is attractive and fitting with the Santa Barbara general area. The room are comfortable, always very clean and pleasant. This is a great location to stay on my frequent trips from Northern California to the San Diego area.

    5
« great place to stop on a coastal road trip »

Great service, very pretty, easy to find, good location. We landed here by accident while driving all of Cal -- exhausted -- and room service was fast with hot food! And a very nice handicap-accessble room, which we needed. Good spot indeed.

    4
    « Convenient Freeway Access »

This is a very nice stop right off the 101. We were surprised to find the lobby under major renovation, which was a little messy and noisy, but will certainly be very nice for future guests. The construction did not really effect our visit as our room was away from any noise on the third floor, but the smell of fresh paint permeated the hallways. Our room opened up onto a court yard with a fountain and might be a romantic place to spend an evening.

« Great courtyard and room! »

A hotel close to Santa Barbara with plenty of charm! The room was well appointed and folks were friendly. They are diligently continuing to renovate in some areas, but it was very quiet when we were there. Would definitely return!

    4
    « Cute place »

We were visiting friends here so figured this would be a good place to stay. The room was great and I love the atmosphere of the hotel. You would think they would avoid giving people the room with a very noisy hwy noise, but I guess not. I don't think our room had been used in awhile because there was dust and crap all inside our coffee maker, which I didn't notice until the coffee had been made (and I had to dump out), plus our fridge was turned off when we got in. Why is it hotels use that crappy foam type blankets for bedding. All of them do it (except Disney properties). Nice hotel though and very convenient to everything.

    5
    « Nice quiet hotel »

I stayed here for just one night as part of a tour heading from San Fran to LA. The hotel itself is very quiet, had a lovely heated pool, small restaurant and a bar which was reasonably priced. Our room was very clean and fairly big, lots of light and plenty of mirrors!!! I'm a little unsure of the location in all honesty as I don't know the area and I wasn't there long enough to get a good grasp of the area. This was a lovely hotel and the staff were friendly.

    4
    « Lovely »

This is a lovely hotel for the price. Cosy and clean we stayed at this hotel 2 nights when we were passing through on a road trip. I would definitely recommend this hotel as a cheap yet comfortable stay.

    5
« Quiet Cozy Comfort Off The 101 »

Despite remodeling underway, there wasn't any inconvenience at all during my stay. Room extremely comfortable (first night next to The 101, so a bit noisy but expected), great patio areas to escape to and pleasant experience overall. Meals and beverages for the cafe/bar quite reasonable to boot. Whether for business or pleasure, it is well worth the drive from overpriced Santa Barbara or the slight frantic pace of Ventura to stay here.

« Best stay of the trip! »

Easy to find, and very easy on the eye. This is a beautiful property, convient to Santa Barbara, and 90 minutes to Hollywood. The Staff, the rooms, the restaurant were just very nice. Love this place!

« Excellent place near Santa Barbara »

Exceptional option if you have a car and can drive quickly to Santa Barbara. I would stay here again in the future. Every detail was satisfied. Just avoid rooms facing the highway and you can have more breakfast options if you go to Santa Barbara. Also you can go to nice beaches between Santa Barbara and Carpinteria.

    « Excelent »

We came earlier and lady at check in offered us room what we really appreciate after long way from Georgia. The room was super clean, little bit worn but with no influence to our stay. The bed was comfortable and the hotel itself is next to highway 101, 2 km from beach, about 20 km from Santa Barbara.... so perfect position. I really want to go back.

Found this deal on LivingSocial. For the price and proximity to SB, this was a good deal. The rooms were a bit dated but clean. The balcony overlooking the courtyard was lovely. The service was prompt and friendly. The hotel is right off the FWY which was extremely convenient, and approx. a 10-15min drive to State Street. Overall, I'd stay here again.

This is a nice building with nice features, They are remodeling soon and I will miss the carpet that makes you feel drunk. I have stayed in many of the rooms some are great some are not so great. I feel they have many one time visitors so they do not notice when a BW member or repeat visitor is returning each year. It is a good place if you are not doing the tourist thing in Santa Barbara. I have had some snafu's but they are good about things and nice folks. I usually get a great night sleep.

Nice looking hotel, nice room, not huge. Lighting okay, but dark would ceilings and facing courtyard made it seem a little darker. Witching walking distance of town and restaurants. Nice size bathroom. Negatives for us - no microwave, no free breakfast. There is a restaurant in the hotel, but a little pricey. We stayed here and drove to Santa Barbara to avoid the high hotel prices there. Good stay and would return.

« WORST HOTEL CUSTOMER SERVICE »

I would choose no stars but it won't let me. I will neVer stay there again. This hotel is supposed to be a over 200 dollar establishment. We got this on a livingsocial for 130. We travel alot and I've stayed in better hotels for 80 bucks. They can't even serve complimentary coffee. The manager was a dead fish when I asked for extra shampoo and conditioner. Apparently you can't ask for any housekeeping items because the door is locked and noone works until 830 am on the busiest day to check out sunday. When I complained to the manager she just gave attitude and unprofessional responses. NEVER NEVER STAY HERE. IT'S NOT WORTH IT.

I like this hotel very much. I come to Carpinteria at least once a year and stay at the Best Western. I like every thing about this Hotel. I like the court yard very much. And I like having a resturant and bar on the premises.

« Great value for Area »

This is hotel has beautiful grounds and is in an ideal location for us. The only complaint is that it seems to have thin walls, as I recall reading in other reviews. But it was quiet when we were there. The nearby highway provided great white noise and was not really a problem. The room was clean-that is my number one priority! They have a restaurant so do not offer a free breakfast, but there is a refrigerator and microwave and we were able to eat in our room. I would stay here again. I would also request a room with a balcony.

Here I am again in Carp (interia)! Lovely place, lovely people. Even though this time it was raining, I enjoyed myself. They really need the rain anyways. Otherwise my comments are as usual! Have a nice day!

    « Second visit »

This is the second time I have stayed here, both times I have enjoyed it and would book again. The hotel is in Carpinteria, with not that much happening around about, however it is a short drive into Santa Barbara which is convenient and staying here is a fraction of the cost. The hotel itself has a lovely courtyard area which you can sit out in, day or night. Rooms are spacious, a little tired but clean and comfortable. Service was friendly and the hotel was nice and quiet, allowing for a good nights sleep. My only negatives were that the wifi wasn't great, but it's not a major problem. If you are looking for something close to Santa Barbara, I would recommend considering here, it's great value!

« Always nice to stay here! »

It has been a while since I last stayed here but when entering the lobby it was a good feeling to be back. Service at the reception is always good. Rooms are well equipped and the little balcony is a nice touch. In-room WIFI is of good quality and speed. Breakfast (a la carte; paid) is available but we did not make use of that. Overall a short but good stay and I will be back in the future!

Love this hotel. Easy for the family and nice for the business person. It is a nice, clean, beautiful hotel with restaurant bar. It has everything you like about a hotel without a big hotel crowd. Excellent beach hotel.

    « Amazing Sleep! »

The bed and room were so comfortable that we slept through check-out which we never do in a hotel. Great hotel overall. The balconies are not private but shared with the room next door which is odd but overall a great place to stay.

Check in was slow , non interested check in staff Room was ok , on the ground floor with door out to car park No shower curtain in the bathroom , called reception was replaced The tiny bar up on the 3rd floor was interesting opens at 4:30pm but happy hour not until 5pm , wasn't told Went out to eat at a Thai in the town as food didn't look too appetising Came back to room , TV couldn't be fixed after an hour of trying so they moved us up onto 3rd floor with a balcony The smell of cigarette smoke was disgusting being dragged in through the AC Breakfast in the morning was awful Took 30 minutes and all received at different times with only us 3 in there On checkout was asked how our stay was , they were not interested in our stay Shame as the hotel could be nice with a new team and a paint job

« We will come here again! »

We were very pleased with the room we were given. We were upgraded to a courtyard view with a balcony upon arrival. Very quiet even though it is right off of the freeway. Must have been the courtyard view. Lush garden with a soothing fountain that lights up at night. The only negative barely worth mentioning was the size of the room. It was on the small side where two people could not pass each other between the bed and the furniture, but we went there to hang out at the beach and restaurants so it was fine for sleeping and hanging on the balcony. We will go again!
