Best Western Plus Carpinteria Inn

Apparently there is a new manager that is not friendly at all. He makes his own rules and acts as we are working for him. He is rude and not interested to listen to the guest. He is saying he is there for over 29 years, we have been there many times and never seen him.!

It's a lovely looking place & the courtyard is beautiful & relaxing. We only stayed one night as that was our plan. Sadly there was no hot water in our room & we put off taking hot showers because of that. When it was time to check out we spoke with the regional manager Anthony who graciously refunded half of our room's cost. Carpenteria is a lovely place to visit & this is a comfortable & convenient place to stay.

Stayed for a business trip in the area. The hotel is readily accessible from the main road. It is also close to the beach and a quaint downtown area. All staff were very attentive and cordial. The room was well-appointed. It was spotless clean. The direct access to the courtyard from the room was a most welcomed bonus. The fitness room was spacious with all the equipment in working order for a good session. A hidden gem in the Carpinteria area.

Check your bed sheets on check in, ours had not been changed. Air conditioner/heater very noisy. Bar/Restaurant used to be much better. After check in you'll probably have to clean your own room, terrible service!

Comfortable beds, clean hallways and stairwells. Staff willing to help remedy any problems quickly. Small pool and jacuzzi. Working ice machines and snack dispensers. Great black out curtains. Near fwy access and easy walk to downtown Linden.

Good location. Friendly staff. All the three room had problems, ranging from broken a/c, no shower, TV malfunctioning. I stayed in three rooms over three nights because of these problems. I had hoped some adjustment would have been made to my bill at checkout. It was not.

This is the nicest Best Western! The architecture of the building, along with the courtyard layout, make it an exceptional place to stay. Our room had a balcony looking out to the courtyard with a view of the mountains, and I enjoyed the view every morning with my coffee. The room was spacious, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. Also, it was very easy to navigate Carp and Santa Barbara/Goleta from the hotel's location.

I dont think I'd stay here again. The room service menu was super disappointing. I paid extra for a courtyard view, but couldn't see the courtyard from my window.. just a potted plant. There was water damage on the ceiling.

The Best Western in Carpinteria never disappoints. We are always satisfied with the cleanliness of the hotel room. The kind, friendly, and welcoming staff always greet us and make us feel at home during our stay. We always look forward to our next visit!

2 nights on our way to San Francisco. No complimentary breakfast, but coffees including Cappuccino. Clean room. Tiny pool towards parking lot. Photos are misleading. Courtyard is more or less for those ground floor courtyard rooms. We booked a room via Expedia which showed balconies. BEWARE not all rooms have a balcony and we ended up with one of those. Windows also blocked by TV and desktop lamp.

This establishment is of high standards and all the staff involved highly professional. Outstanding in every aspect. This facility is one of the best hotels we stayed at on our 15 day motorcycle ride across several states.

BEWARE- this Best Western is the only one I have ever stayed at that does NOT have a complimentary breakfast. Disappointing - mainly because we count on that for a quick breakfast and then be on our way. The hotel itself is beautiful. Rooms are small, but clean and fine. The staff was fine - not overly personable.

Great choice with clean rooms and comfy beds when needing a place in Carp. Convenient with great restaurants nearby. Didn't get a balcony room but will next time. Close to the highway and beaches and very accessible to get to Santa Barbara quickly.

From start to finish this place is a jewel in Carpinteria! The staff were all so courteous, competent, kind, and helpful! And...I am a local. We were there only because we lost our hot water. I'm glad it happened because now I know that I can personally recommend this place!

When you enter the hotel, it's very nice and clean decorations were lovely. I'm glad they had an elevator. You need to go there and see it yourself what you think about this hotel. Also, it is close to everything.

I booked one night at this property online for July 26. When I didn't receive a confirmation after a couple weeks, I phoned them and was told that I had a reservation. They are now telling me that that contact was my first. I asked the person I spoke with to send me an email confirmation. None was received. I planned to follow up once I returned from my last trip. I was shocked to learn that they had my reservation for June 26, and charged my for a night I was not there. I learned this from a follow up email asking me about my stay. When I described my experience, they claimed that a confirmation was sent (the first email I received was the one seeking an evaluation). And they refused to refund the charge. I will never stay in a Best Western in the future.

I have stayed here for over 30 nights over the last year and if you leave and forget something in the room after check out, it will be lost forever. I have accidently left something and when I call the front desk requesting for help, they always say they will call you back, but never do. I checked the front desk several times on my last visit regarding a necklace left in my previous visit and they repeatedly promised to call me with information (which the never did). Very frustrating and unprofessional.

The beautiful lush courtyard makes this my favorite hotel in Southern California, especially with the colorful night lighting. Nice room, updated contemporary bathroom and friendly staff. A great location close to Santa Barbara but more low key.

Had a wonderful overnite stay w/ a friend. Room was comfortable and clean. Staff were exceptionally friendly and when I needed a toothbrush, it even came w/ the world's classiest toothpaste:Tom's! I needed a plug for the bathtub and it was produced instantly w/ a smile. The location in Carpinteria is terrific. What's not to like?!

They have Very clean and nice rooms. The staff was always very Friendly. There's a Beautiful courtyard with plants and places to sit. Great place to stay if you want to visit Santa Barbara and save money. There's plenty of parking and you don't have to pay extra for it.

Good place to stay while visiting the area. Easy to find, plenty of parking, rooms good size with 2 queen beds. Didn't eat at restaurant, just had coffee and hot chocolate. Close to downtown Carpinteria and all the shops/restaurants and the beach! Would stay there again!

Clean, comfy beds, great location !! My daughter and I chose to stay here.This was our first stop on a Southern California college trip. We couldn't have asked for a better start to our trip. We will definitely be back for a longer stay!

Very clean, pretty recently updated and pretty building. We loved this spot, it was close to the town but not walking distance exactly...at least in the rain. Warm and quiet. Our room was ground floor and the blackout curtains made it dark in the morning, so dark that we slept in accidentally! Open those before you go to sleep if you want morning light! Great stay. Only small thing, the front desk gal was not too friendly at check in, but I understand where she's coming from. just business, not too personal.

Great price for a nice room. Clean and quiet, nice area to work on my laptop. Only thing missing was a microwave. Also parking near an entrance closest to our room was a bonus, we didn't have to walk too far to our car.

Beautiful hotel and an amazing staff. Love the style of the building, the views into the courtyard, and the quality of the services, including the restaurant service and food.! My wife loved the look of the hotel and really enjoyed the stay.

Hotel is clean. Rooms and hall are very noisy. You can hear all conversations in the hall. Breakfast is not included (not even for rewards members). No bottled water in rooms. Something as simple as offering a bottled water is a nice gesture. Location is the best thing about this hotel.

This hotel looks nice from the outside but there were some things inside that need a little help. Our room had something wrong with the faucet handle that made it had to push up and down. Made lots of noise. Ordered room service and had to go pick it up in the restaurant. Check out staff was not very friendly, No good morning or thank you for staying with us. Won't be staying there again.

We had a fantastic stay at the Best Western Plus Carpinteria! The staff were friendly and helpful, the property is beautiful with plenty of amenities, and the location was perfect for exploring the local area. We would definitely recommend.

Nice enough hotel with free parking but rooms very small. We did use and enjoy the beautiful outside courtyard. We were on the first floor with a nice patio adjacent to the courtyard. Super convenient location right a the freeway ramp and close to town. Did try the restaurant on site. The hours and menu are very limited but one night we did sit at the bar and order the appetizer plate. Certainly not healthy, but really excellent. The two of us could not finish it, good as it was. Was a pity it wasn't busier.

My family always chooses to stay here when they visit me in Summerland. They accommodate late check ins, and have lots of parking. Plus it's close to SB. Very clean rooms, convenient, quiet, and nice and friendly staff. Recommended for anyone traveling with little ones.

Is an amazing place to stay! The room was nice, the bed was comfortable.Excellent service and the staff really kind and Attentive! Is in a great location, close to everything. Hope I can go back soon for another fun vacation

I came up to the area for a job interview. The staff treated me so well and the property is so beautiful. Deysi was as Rockstar! I especially liked the turtle out front and the gorgeous courtyard. I'll be back!

Reserved 3 rooms in April for stay this past weekend to attend family wedding. The three rooms were reserved with my cc. My two daughters occupied 2 rooms, my husband and I the third. Upon arrival I gave the front desk attendant my CC. Explicitly said charge all three rooms to my card. I signed approval. Upon their arrival my daughters each gave a cc number that hotel required for incidentals, which there were none. We checked out yesterday, and discovered their credit cards on file were charged for their rooms. One was a debit card, which pulled money from her bank account causing her to be overdrawn. They had no approval to charge those cards for anything other than incidentals, yet it happened anyway. Today I viewed my credit card and discovered not only my room charge, but also both daughters, plus another! Front desk attendants are clueless, and don't seem to understand the gravity. I have called multiple times today asked to speak to a supervisor twice, was transferred to a phone with a greeting that might've been the supervisor I'm just not sure because her name wasn't attached to it. Left a message and still have not heard back two hours later. This hotel was not worth this stay. Horrible customer service!

Amazing staff and friendly people. Liz and Ariana are the absolute best. Super friendly and great customer service. They helped fix a problem that we had with the utmost attention to detail. I highly recommend staying here. Liz and Ariana made our trip special and memorable.

Staff can not do anything about noise coming from room above. if you plan to saty at this hotel, make sure you ask for the higest floor. Their room are not sound proof rated between floor. I will not book this hotel again.

Do not pay extra for a courtyard room because when you do they will but you on the secind floor with a view a balcony with communal tables. Additional, when you get to your room in the evening do not assume that you can turn on a light, everything will be unplugged and you will have to fumble aroound in the dark. Also, if you are planning to reserve a block of rooms for an event, do not expect that the employees care about your guests. They will deliver items to rooms as agreed upon and will not try to accomodate their reasonable requests.

Nothing past the lobby was good. The old, dark, dirty, cramped, broken room cost as much as a nice, new one in most cities. We paid extra for a courtyard room, which had only a very tiny view of the courtyard. We were told nothing else was available. Bed & desk chair were saggy & old. Towels & sheets were ragged & old. Carpet was gross. Bathroom & bedroom were tiny. Hotel Was located on three sides by noisy freeway traffic. Would NOT RECOMMEND it to anyone.

The rooms were large and the bed was ok. The linens were clean but the floor was so dirty that I had to wear shoes to walk around. The phone on my room didn't work. The only 10/10 was the staff. They were helpful and accommodating.

I was visiting one of the universities for an overnight and this hotel is not too too far from the airport. It is an older building, recently remodeled, with a beautiful garden courtyard that was always empty, even in the nice weather. The place is a large maze, and if you don't mind walking to find your room, it wasn't bad at all. The room was adequate and clean, the breakfast was simple and nice, and most of all it is a short walk to the city beach and to good local coffee and restaurants, including Lucky Llama and Teddy's which are so amazing that the local people line up to go. There is a large encampment down by the water, yes there are homeless people living here, but this is America 2022 and living in California in a tent next to the misty ocean might be better than living in the dead cold urban streets of the East where some of us hail from. There is a strong natural vibe in this land. May peace come to all beings.

my wife and i moved from montecito ca about three years ago. when we come back to visit, most santa barbara hotels have been gouging its guests with ridiculously high rates. the best western plus in carpinteria has remained reasonable.

We will not return to this Best Western. This room was very small, and the bathroom small as a closet. My husband went to the lobby 3 different times for coffee and the carafe was empty. The staff said it was a busy morning. We asked for housekeeping and were told no because we were only staying 2 nights. The topper was that at 6:15am the last morning of our stay the smoke detector in our room started chirping due to a low battery, waking us up out of a sound sleep. The staff was indifferent to this. We will not be staying here again.

This is a very nice facility, rooms are clean and well kept. The courtyard rooms are well worth the extra few dollars. Very nice experience with the exception of they do not offer free breakfast, nor bottled water. I like the Hampton/ Hilton better at this price point.

The hotel could be lovely but it was overrun with construction company employees staying with multiple cement trucks and heavy equipment trucks parking lot, which took up all the parking spots. The trucks drove through the parking lot multiple times with the mixers turning making horrible noise, even very early in the am. The police were at the hotel both of the two nights we stayed - making us worry about safety. The rooms could use more attention and the shower had no pressure. I would not recommend for families or vacationers.

Quite nice, as always, but still coming out of COVID-19 problems. The room I usually stay in, # 235, has been refurbished since my last pre-Covid stay. The staff as usual are very nice. However, there were a few disappointing situations. Firstly, the vending machines are empty and/or out of order. That wouldn't be a problem during room service hours, but when I tried to call room service at 9pm on the evening of my stay (on a Thursday night), no one picked up. They close at 9:30 pm. I tried three more times, even the front desk tried patching me through, to no avail. Luckily, they did pick up in the morning at 7am for me to put in a breakfast order. The only other problem was that the room refrigerator made a high pitched constant noise. I made the front desk aware of that when I checked out. A pillow over my ears allowed me to sleep. Two other minor issues were the desk chair needs replacement, and the closet doors need adjustment as they stick. Otherwise a good stay, for a one visit to my Graduate School. I would stay here again if visiting my school.

Gotta say price was great.. the gym could use a little more dumbbells but overall satisfied with the quality of workout I was able to achieve.. the restaurant had amazing food although the bar could use a few more top shelf options and stay open past 9

Booked a wedding party at this hotel. Had multiple problems with equipment, service, and personnel. BEWARE. Master suite was rendered unusable by the bridal party by an air conditioning leak. Hotel response: no response. They did send a repairman. He did not fix the problem.

If you decide to stay here, make sure you get a courtyard room on the third floor; otherwise you'll be subject to freeway noise and noise from people walking above you. Our 3rd floor room was tired looking. The room had a bad odor that never went away. The carpet needed replacing. A tile in the bathroom fell off. The drain in the shower remained in the down position, meaning you had to take a shower in four inches of water. I asked for it to be fixed and it never was. Our room keys had to be recoded SIX times in four days. The friendly front desk person acknowledged that "the system is dated," and that that happened with some rooms. He said it was going to be fixed. Using Covid as the new excuse, your room will only be cleaned, we were told, if you ask 24 hours in advance. Which means you can't have your room cleaned after the first night because you can't give them 24 hours' notice. It's funny but I didn't notice any credit on the bill for reduced service. The restaurant was not always open because they didn't have the staff. The overworked waitress at breakfast (who was very nice) barely had time to do everything. Therefore we ate breakfast surrounded by dirty dishes on other tables because there was no one available to bus them. It's nice that management responds to these reviews but it would be more meaningful if they didn't simply cut and paste the same response to each one.

We had to switch rooms 2 time due to multiple spider webs on the ceiling. It seems these rooms were not cleaned above eye level and spider webs were common for rooms on the 3rd floor. We finally had to move to the 2nd floor (3rd room) to resolve this issue. The room was also noisy with foot steps from the above floor.

We usually camp at Carpinteria State Beach every year but decided to stay in a hotel close to the beach instead this year. This hotel exceeded my expectations. Staff was friendly, accommodating and room was spacious, roomy, and very clean. We were able to bike, walk, drive to the beach and local shops to meet with friends who were camping there and enjoy all the perks of camping minus sleeping in a tent/trailer. We will definitely be back next year.

Our pre-requested room wasn't ready when we arrived at 3:30pm--wouldn't be ready for another hour, we were told. This was unacceptable. Problems in the "quiet" room we were given: balcony useless, because of freeway noise and the fact that if you closed the balcony door, you couldn't get back inside. Hair in the bathroom, an orange on the bedroom floor. Man at front desk couldn't answer basic questions about the area. On the plus side: nice courtyard, good jacuzzi.

Hotel was only nice on the outside. Room was horrible. The door was jammed and had to be forced open each time. They never sent anyone to fix it after calling about the issue. The room smelled of cigarette and weed smoke and the staff said this was common with the shared balcony rooms…offered to ask whomever was smoking to stop if I was able to identify them?!? They claimed to have found and asked the person to stop (below us) but the smell continued throughout the stay and they said they couldn't move us. Room was dark and dingy. This was absolutely not what I was expecting from a best western plus, especially in a cute beach town! They also charged a premium. It was NOT worth it! Avoid this hotel if you can… if you have to stay for some reason, be sure not to get a shared balcony! Good luck!

It has a pleasing appearance with a very nice interior courtyard. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room and bathroom were very clean. HOWEVER, there is absolutely no insulation in the ceiling at all. If you are not on the top floor, you will think you're in a grape stomping world championship. You will NOT sleep if the room above you is occupied. Because of this, it's overpriced by about a hundred a night. Oh, and the coffee maker was broken.

Great hotel for a relaxing vacation. The staff is really friendly, you get free parking and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Be sure to get a courtyard room so you can look out into the lush gardens and listen to the peaceful fountain.

There was an odor in the room (bathroom), that was never fixed even though I requested help twice. Maybe I needed to be more persistent in trying to get it fixed. As long as the bathroom door was kept closed it was not too bad, but still wasn't great.

Just stopped in to break up our continuous travel time.. it served it's purpose but was way too much money for the quality. had I known I would maybe spend a little more at a much nicer hotel or spend less at a smaller inn that has the same service

The room smelled of mold, the bed was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever stayed in. The construction was a nuisance, they were fixing the roof so we could hear them above us from 9am-5pm. They was big construction trucks in the parking lot making it difficult to park and navigate. There was a compressor running at night. Then the sound of the freeway. We couldn't sleep because the windows didn't shut properly and we could hear the cars on the freeway ALL night long. The room wasn't very clean and the shower had no water pressure. The price is too much for what you get.

Beautiful courtyard with on site restaurant bar. The menu has changed since we visited a couple of years ago. The selections are limited these days and… they only had one type of beer! A decent exercise room with a rowing machine, cable machine and free weights. The hot tub/spa is small but much appreciated after a long motorcycle ride.

We love this hotel, we've been coming here for years. It's close to the freeway. Staff is professional and friendly. Rooms are very clean and comfortable. Close to shopping, restaurants and the beach.

On a family vacation down from Portland, OR. Figured we'd give Carpinteria a chance on the way down to Disneyland. This place looks very nice online but is not worth $400 a night for a double queen room. Warning: This place does not have complimentary hot breakfast. Instead, they have a restaurant onsite that was closed all except for one morning for breakfast. When we called to order, they would not answer the phone (front desk acted as if this was normal). When we went to go order in person, there wasn't a staff member in sight and only one table had their meal among 8 tables. The beds are HORRIBLE. I can feel the springs and both my husband and I had terrible back aches in the morning. The first morning we stayed, there were people up on the roof walking around...turns out that they are replacing the roof tiles while we are here. There are no microwaves in the rooms...you have to use a community microwave that are on the first and third floors. The pool is the size of a postage stamp and the smallest one I've ever seen at a Best Western. Thank goodness we're close to the beach. Pros: We have a courtyard room so that means we have a balcony which is nice to look out (if you don't mind hearing the freeway traffic). The room was also clean and tidy. During our three days here, we paid 36,000 points for our first night and $400 a night for the next two. NOT WORTH IT! We will never stay here again. Side note: we called the corporate number to file a complaint about how this listing is deceitful and they advised us to try to remedy with the site manager first while onsite and to call back if we were unsuccessful. When we called the manager, he was very non-apologetic and blamed it on short staffing "because no one wants to work", the pandemic and Best Western corporate for our experience. We will be calling corporate back in the morning to file a claim for misrepresentation. We would have never chosen this site knowing that we wouldn't be able to feed our kids onsite every morning.

Stayed here for one night. The room was fairly nice however you can hear all the traffic from the freeway and noise from other rooms. Also, the vending machines were not working. I wanted to take a relaxing bath after a long day driving however the plug did not work so a shower was the only option.

Have been coming to Carpinteria for the past 35 years. Sometimes we camped, but if we didn't, we always chose to stay at the Bestwestern in Carpinteria. It's the only place we will stay. Their beautiful courtyard, nighttime lighting, and balconies are tranquil.

Terrible experience in Carpinteria. Booked online and they gave us the worst room in the hotel, Room 314. Avoid at all costs. Freeway adjacent, even double or triple paned windows did not deaden the incessant traffic and heavy truck noise. Had to run the AC unit all night. Maintenance issues: broken toilet seat and loose faucet. But the absolute worst issue was the foul rotten feces smell coming from the tap water. ABSOLUTELY repugnant, making the bathroom faucet unusable. Try brushing your teeth with feces smelling water!! Went down stairs to inquire about bottled water. Night manager Aaron less than helpful, no bottled water available, try the vending machines. OK, TWO broken vending machines. Try the gym, locked overnight and Aaron can not access either, doesn't have his digital key. When pressed hard OK locked inside manager's office is a 4 gallon bottle of sparklett's water which he was happy to share one glass, then two when begged. Worst Western Carpinteria should fully refund our $190, b ut no expectation they will. We will never stay there again and make sure to tell our friends of the horrific experience.

We did not enjoy our thee-night stay at this hotel because of all of the noise from Highway 101 (the hotel backs directly on the highway) and we could literally hear every footstep made by the person in the room above us. We could also hear very loudly the rush of water every time the room above turned on their shower. It was very difficult to get a good night sleep here and we will not stay here again.

No coffee offered in the lobby at anytime. No breakfast offered for your stay at this location. Requested an upper unit and was given a first floor room with a very small bathroom. Don't ever sty in room 120. Bathroom was very dated for the prices. Staff was holding a luggage cart behind the counter and no other one available for 30 min.

My husband and I stayed here one night. While the Inn itself is lovely, and the room was clean, there was too many problems with our room to make it a pleasant stay. 1 - the shower barely produced a stream of water making it impossible to take a shower. 2 - the outlet I plugged my laptop into didn't work, draining my battery leaving me unable to work on my laptop. 3 - the noise from the freeway made it difficult to fall and stay asleep. Worst of all is that I emailed and phoned the manager to discuss my bill, feeling that I should not have to pay for the room with these problems, and in 3 days I have yet to hear from him. Poor quality room, poor quality customer service.

No more payment necessary! You can park your car for free, sit in the spot next to your car and work with no shirt and no shoes with your laptop in a beach chair with wood stump as an ottoman all day and all night long. You can use all the wifi for free, inside bathrooms and tan yourself in the parking spot next to your dumpy car all for free! Front desk people will not bother you to leave at all. You can stay for 6 months or longer, nobody bothers you to leave at all! Why bother paying Best Western Anymore! Cool, Right?

upon booking we made a request for the quiet room. the stuff have never informed us about road construction and gave us room that is facing very busy road. even thought there were rooms available that faced the courtyard for those dates. beside the noise our room was very dark.

I've stayed at this property multiple times and have always been happy. The staff is professional, friendly and helpful. Aaron and Ariana were great! Rooms are always clean and the property itself is well maintained and in a good location. I highly recommend The Best Western Carpinteria Inn!

Very noisy. Smoke alarm battery started chirping at 4:30 am. Front desk was uncaring and unwilling to assist until I made 4 calls to the front desk. Hotel is right next to freeway and traffic was non stop

Just a quick getaway with ladies in my family. The hotel courtyard is lovely. The beds and room were comfortable. The hotel is very well situated. It is walking distance to a wonderful steakhouse with homemade pies, Clementine's, or very good Mexican food and margarita's at Delgado's. And a quick drive to Linden St., and thereabouts for shopping, and a very nice used book store on Carpinteria. The beach park is also beautiful. We had a very relaxing time.

The BW has always been our choice of hotels. The BW Carpinteria has a beautiful courtyard for this otherwise run of the mill hotel. As a Diamond BW Rewards member, I have demonstrated my brand loyalty and was disappointed with the lack of "Plus" amenities at the Carpinteria property. Complimentary coffee - nope (ok there is the in room brew but not an enjoyable cup). Complementary breakfast - nope. I suggest that BW corporate review the "Plus" status given to the Carpinteria hotel and drop the "Plus". That would at least tip off guests to lower their expectations.

We recently stayed at the Best Western Carpinteria Inn for four nights on a getaway to the Santa Barbara area. We selected this particular hotel based on price as hotels in Santa Barbara tend to be more expensive. I'm unsure what makes it a Best Western Plus as it seemed pretty consistent with other hotels without the “Plus” designation. Our room, 222 was on the second floor overlooking the courtyard, which was nice and certainly better than a room facing the 101 which I can only imagine would be rather loud. The room is pretty standard with TV, a desk, a refrigerator ( good size) , a single cup coffee maker, plenty of closet space ( not enough hangers, some were missing), air conditioner/ heater and a king size bed. Speaking of the bed, they definitely need to replace the mattress as we both kept sliding into a dip in the center and it wasn't comfortable. I woke each morning with painful shoulders and my husband's back hurt . The bathroom is small but adequate, the shower head could use some updating to something adjustable to height and a handheld would be nice. One thing that we did really like was that the hotel room was exceptionally clean. There is a restaurant on the property and it looked nice when we passed it but since there were so many restaurants off sight, we never ate there. Unlike many Best Westerns that I've stayed at, there is no included breakfast. The restaurant serves breakfast but the prices seemed a bit high. We must have misunderstood about microwaves as we believed the rooms had one but instead there are two microwaves, one on the first floor and another on the third floor near the vending machines. Since community microwaves in the days of Covid don't make sense, we avoided them. Currently there is no daily housekeeping so if one needs anything, one has to request it. Check in and checkout was easy. We hardly interacted with staff beyond that. Parking was plentiful but tight. The location was good for commuting to Santa Barbara and there were also restaurants, shops and beaches nearby in the Carpinteria area. Would I stay there again? Possibly but I might look for somewhere with a few more amenities. I would say this hotel is the definition of average.

Drove up the coast for a week day get away. Explored Carpenteria and Santa Barbara. Had a great time seeing new sites and enjoying the beauty of the area. The hotel was clean, conveniently located. Nice courtyard ,comfy bed and restaurant/ bar onsite though we didn't visit the bar we had breakfast in the cafe and it was lovely.

My room overlooked the courtyard with a fountain that will lull you into a peaceful state whether I am relaxing in my room or come down to the courtyard to in a nearby table. I have been staying at this particular hotel for a monthly get away for nearly a decade and they consistently provide the same experience.

No water pressure in tub/shower for bath/shower. In fairness to the staff, we did not complain to the front desk and we worked around it. Full water pressure in bathroom sink and the toilet. Room service breakfast is very good and priced at normal restaurant prices. Great location and price for the area with easy access to Santa Barbara.

We stayed 1 night while visiting family. The location is super handy although close enough to the highway that you can here it in the background. I used earplugs and didn't have a problem. It was noisier being by the exit door and hearing guests talk on their way out and in the parking lot. Didn't spend much time at the hotel, but it was clean and nice looking. Would definitely stay again for a quick trip.

Our room was clean, comfortable and relaxing. We used the hot tub and it was very nice and warm. We had a nice time hanging out in the room and enjoying how close restaurants, coffee shops and the beach were to the hotel. We would definitely come back and stay here!

We decided on a quick getaway at the last minute. The property and our room was very clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant was reasonably priced and breakfast was good. No complaints!

Room was noisy. Could hear even normal sounds from rooms next to us and above. Squeaky floors above. Restaurant is a joke. Food is blah. Service is terrible. Grounds are beautiful. Finding the ice machine was a like a maze. Staff just blames everything on Covid. Stay was to include breakfast and didn't. Heard another couple with the same complaint. Website said offerings might be modified. Nowhere did it say no breakfast. Would have stayed elsewhere. Happy hour in lounge is a joke. Offers a couple of drinks for discount, not so much as a carrot for food. Holiday Inn down the street is a much better choice.

Always a positive experience. This hotel is extremely charming, excellent customer service, and easy access to downtown Carpinteria and or Highway 101 to get to Santa Barbara. We rather stay here than in actual Santa Barbara because this hotel so much more quaint, clean and accommodating. Christmas decorations in the courtyard are a must see!

I was not happy staying here. There was a plumbing odor in my bathroom. The walls of the bathroom were covered in crusty residue. Another issue is that this Best Western does not have a coffee/water station. People kept coming into the fitness center to get water, interrupting my workout. Water & towels were never replenished! Whomever owns this hotel is cheap - hasn't renovated the place in years and does not keep the place clean. I told the front desk my concern about people coming in to the gym…they didn't care! It would cost less that $40 a day to have a water & coffee station for guests. Apparently this is too much for these lazy & cheap hotel owners.

One of my favorite Best Western locations. Staff is always friendly and exceed expectations. Location is great. There's guest laundry and a small restaurant on site. Courtyard is lovely and relaxing! Definitely my go-to place when I'm Carpinteria!

Very clean hotel. Fast check in and out. Friendly, helpful staff. Nice room with balcony. Pay breakfast - many choices. Oatmeal and strawberries was excellent. Great location near state beach and freeway on/off ramp.

The room is intolerable to stay in with the noise level of high way. So don't expect to sleep well. Prepare your own earplugs if you want to fall asleep. I have to stay in the bathroom to get a little peace moment.

This is so far is the worst Best Western managed hotel that I have stayed at, and I've stay at many all across California for business. As a Best Western Platinum member I would not stay at this hotel again. The hotel itself is decent, no free breakfast, the bed is old, the television small, the rooms do have a decent size refrigerator but no microwaves unless you get a junior suite or a suite. The room was booked via Expedia and when that happens they sort of treat you like an 2nd class guest. I tried to upgrade but nothing was available and I could not use my earned Best Western gift cards in their restaurant called Sunset Grill or anywhere else within the hotel. The first Tuesday once I checked in I called the front desk from the guest room phone but the phone kept ringing and the automated attendee kicks in and you press "1" or "0" and it rings the front desk again. I waited for at least 10 cycles and they finally answered the phone. The next day I called the front desk again from the guest room phone and this time it took longer than 20 minutes. I had 2 personal cell phones with me and dialed from my cell phones and they still would not answer, at this point I had 3 lines going and non being answered. When the front desk finally answered, I asked her why she didn't answer the phone and she answered, " she was busy with another guest at the front desk. So I asked her is it a policy to check in guest and not answer the guest phones when they call from their rooms? I mentioned of all the hotels that I've been at if the front desk is busy with a guest they usually just pick up the phone at least after 5 to 10 rings and asks if they can call the guest back once they are done or place them on hold. I asked for the manager to call me and to this Friday I still haven't recieved a call from the management. So if you like a decent hotel that is horribly managed this is the hotel for you.

We stayed here for 5 nights in October and viewed 3 rooms in this hotel. Overall it's prettier than average and the rates are certainly good but not good enough to return. Also, BW says they have a price match guarantee but when we tried to have them honor Groupon's rate, they were unable to match the price. This hotel seemed to have a lot of visiting contractors staying here during the week and then large groups of folks on the weekend. The contractors were fine but there was a lot of men smoking in the parking lot in the evenings which explains why our first room smelled like smoke. We requested and received another room on the ground floor pretty quickly. The hotel doors open automatically which was nice for handicap accessibility but they aren't locked at night. So, not only is there a security issue here (granted the neighborhood seems pretty safe), but the automatic doors opening at night seems surprisingly easy for anyone to stroll through the hotel. At a minimum, the automatic doors should be turned off at night I'd think. When I inquired about security, the first staffer told me the doors lock at night. When I called the front desk to ask what time they lock - so as to avoid a long walk to the front doors possibly, I was told they don't lock at all and the hotel was waiting for repairs or upgrades to fix this. hmmm. The Good: - Landscaping is very pretty here. The courtyard has a pretty, well lit fountain and seating areas. - The lobby area and the floors above it are also very pretty with seating areas on the 1st & 2nd floors. - The restaurant on the 3rd floor is nice, with tables with views of the courtyard. - All 3 rooms we were in were pretty quiet & beds were all good quality. - There is an electronic feature after logging into the internet that lets you make requests or report problems. That app/website worked great the one time we used it for a housekeeping request. Unfortunately, once you close the window/app, it seems impossible to get it back again, despite turning wifi or device on/off. - Laundry facilities on site were working & easy to use with an App download to pay via credit card if you don't have quarters. - The upper level rooms with decks were much brighter. - Housekeeping did not seem understaffed and they were always responsive and easy to locate. - Internet worked well - no problems. - Bathrooms were fine - standard but no issues. - Fitness center is small but fine. - Located right on the highway but noise wasn't too loud and only a 3-min drive from downtown Carpinteria where there's a lovely beachside boardwalk walking path. The Not So Good: - This hotel is seriously understaffed it seemed. There were about 7-8 calls to the front desk over the course of our 6 days that were never answered - all during daytime hours. At one point, I had to walk to the front desk to find someone and there was still no one there. I waited a few minutes and finally knocked on a nearby 'team members only' door and found someone. - There were a ton of broken things in our rooms. The coffee machine in one room worked great for the first cup of coffee but had issues after that every day; the outlet plugs on the lamps or wall were very sensitive & required lots of fidgeting to get them to work; one broken lamp in one room; the phone was broken in another room. - The tv worked fine but the menu/guide never worked once so there was no way to see what was on TV other than to scroll through all the channels. Finally we pulled up a guide on the Cox cable website and that worked. - Pool is small and full of leaves/dirt. - Hot tub is Super small. We never saw anyone in either the pool or hot tub all week. - The one night I went to order food from the restaurant, I called and called and no one answered. Finally I called the front desk and they said it closed for that night (a Thursday?). - The rooms were mostly clean but only if you didn't look too closely. In the room we stayed on our last night there were stains in several places on the floor and on a chair. Our other room on the first floor always smelled musty but that was after getting transferred from a room where someone obviously had been smoking so we were just glad not to be in that room anymore. When we got an upper level room, we found that musty smell wasn't there and wed' guess it's a first floor problem. Overall this place might have been OK given it's prices relative to other hotels near Santa Barbara if we'd only have stayed one or two nights. 5 was way too many here.

This is probably my favorite Best Western that I've stayed at. The building and courtyard are so nice that it feels like you're staying at a high end boutique. We had breakfast at the restaurant, which was just OK and the pool this time was littered with leaves. It's convenient to the highway but not noisy and just a couple of miles to the polo fields.

It was a nice start, with a clean lobby and self-opening doors, and a lighted bathroom mirror, but went downhill quickly after that. The bathtub drain was completely clogged and the underside of the bathtub soap dish was covered in dirt and hair (see photo). Maintenance came to clear the drain but they forgot to clean the hair so I ended up having to do that myself. Plus the hot and cold water lines were reversed on the tub valve, so the only way to get a somewhat hot shower was to turn the faucet on only barely, which also meant no water pressure. The faucet on the sink seemed to also be improperly installed because it was very difficult to operate and made an unusually loud squeaking noise when you moved the handle up or down. In the morning we walked up to the 3rd floor restaurant for breakfast and even though there were only two other groups in there they told us it would be at least a 45 minute wait for our food because they had a “really big group.” Needless to say we went to a nearby restaurant for breakfast and we will not be staying at this hotel again.

Nothing stands out of this property. Close to the freeway and you know it. World's smallest hotub. Nice courtyard and lobby tiled. Fitness arena fine. Rooms average. Full bar upstairs. Color and decor nice. Clean and oder free. Town is close to Santa Barbara.

Nice comfy hotel with a beautiful courtyard. Room was cozy and smelled very clean. Hot tub is tiny. We had a quick stay just to check in get ready, return to sleep & check out the next day. Fair amount of parking right off the freeway! Slept great!

Far exceeded expectations. I booked one day in advance on a Wednesday for one night. Easy for me as an infrequent traveler, older age, not computer experienced concerning hotel reservations. I was able to make a single phone call and talk to a person who made my reservation!

Prior to our stay we emailed, the manager (no reply) Then faxed, (no reply) then called and left him a voice mail (no reply) Just wanted to be on an a higher floor, and have an early check in so we can make our first day a beach day. Room was just ok, TV not working, Nick came and fixed it. Packing tape over smoke detector, and sprinkler, (we think previous guest may have been smoking) We are not smokers, both in our 70's, and my wife has COPD. Bathroom light not working, took 5 days and 5 requests to change a light bulb! On a ground floor courtyard room one guest with a dog just let it out to roam around, and didn't even pick up. Guests smoking in courtyard area close to our room, NON SMOKING HOTEL. One night at midnight a loud disturbance in the hallway, some one banged on our door, (we didn't answer.) So many issues, when we arrived home we emailed the manager, (no reply) then forwarded that email to the owner, (no reply.) Followed up with more emails to the owner, she never once responded. This used to be a great place to stay, but not now. Go to Carpinteria it is fantastic!!!!!!! but think twice about staying here until they start to care again.

pool dirty, bar of soap smashed blocking tub drain. They put $50 charge on credit card without telling you that would be used if you eat at restaurant. You get nothing if you don't eat breakfast at restaurant. Not worth the price of room to stay here. Won't be back.

Every time we stay here we say, “it'll be our last”, but we have family in Carpinteria so we have end up staying a lot simply for convenience. But no more chances, it's too expensive to continually have problems with noise and broken doorknobs and broken toilet seats and neighbors having phone conversations at 2am next door and it sounds like it's in my room! So sad we will never stay there again. Bring your earplugs if you have to stay there. You would be better off camping under the stars at the state beach!

The hotel and room was very nice however we had a problem with check in. We arrived at 4:50 PM and had reserved a room with a balcony which was our main reason for booking at this hotel. When we checked in they gave me my keys and said nothing about the room After going up to the 3rd floor I found out that the room they gave me was much bigger than the one I booked BUT NO BALCONY! I went to the front desk and told them that the room didn't have a balcony and I was told our balcony room was not available yet and wouldn't be ready for another 20 to 30 minutes even though check in is at 3PM and I checked in at 4:50 PM. I asked to see the manager and told him check in is 3 PM and it is almost 5PM and our room is still not available. He corrected me by saying check in is FROM 3PM! No where on the hotel website or my reservation was the word "FROM" 3 PM. He then apologized for the delay but due to the pandemic a lot of the housekeeping staff had not returned to work and that was causing the delay. He checked with housekeeping and said the room would be ready in about 15 minutes. We went outside to start loading our luggage, etc on the hotel cart and within the 15 minutes he did come out and say our room was ready. I asked him what kind of compensation was in order for the delay we experienced. He said he gave us an upgraded room - However, no one at the front desk explained this to us. They just let me go to the wrong room and find out myself that it didn't have a balcony. We didn't want an upgraded room, we wanted the balcony. He then offered to buy us a drink at the bar and I said well you should do something. He left and we NEVER saw him again. There was no further offer of a free drink or anything. I was expecting to receive a message or note in the room at some point but that never happened. Besides the delay in checking in the hotel was very nice and the room with balcony was just what we hoped for and the rest of our stay was enjoyable.

Very nice hotel, walking distance from beach and all restaurants. Excellent service. They do have a restaurant which makes it convenient. The courtyard is very nice and excellent place to relax. The kitchen suite is great if one is avoiding outside dinning. Very clean and neat rooms.

We've stayed at this location since 2009. Always clean and the staff is warm and friendly. Our room is always tidy with working appliances and fresh bedding and towels. The restaurant has great service as well. The garden area is great retreat for morning coffee or late relaxed lunch. The fitness room is a little small yet has everything needed for a workout away from home. I almost don't want to tell anyone about this little gem so that we always have a room available for us lol.

In general, the staff was very helpful, informative and supportive. However, most of the patio of our room was taken up with building/roofing materials. The handle on the bathroom door was near falling off and it took quite a while for someone to come and simply tighten the screws. Additionally, the room smelled of smoke and whenever the sink was used, it sounded like the pipes were going to burst in the wall. Beds were okay, but the small square pillows were annoying.

I had a wonderful time exploring the SB area but I must say my stay here was probably the worst part of the trip. I dont really understand how this place has such a high rating. I feel mislead by the pictures. I read through the reviews after checking in and was shocked to find all the problems people had with this place were very similar to mine. A piece of advice if you do end up here,ask for a room on the upper floors.

Although I paid for a courtyard balcony, no balcony rooms were available although my reservation was maid 6 months in advance… and during COVID. Torn shower curtain, and non working bedside lamp didn't help. Was charged for 3 coffees although we had ordered and received only two… btw… skip the coffee… undrinkable. Other family stayed at Holiday Inn… much better experience A shame as it was my sons wedding and we had several guests there… oh and don't bother asking for a block rate as they never returned our calls

The exterior and courtyard of this hotel are beautiful. Not sure I can say the same about the room. The water pressure was terrible and our toilet would not stop running. Any time you needed to use the bathroom you had to take the back off the toilet and push the stopper down for the tank to fill up. This was reported but never fixed.

My family and I stayed here for one night. The entry of the hotel is nice but the rest needs an update. My only request was for a room not next to the stairs since I have young children and didn't want the noise to keep us up. Unfortunately, we were placed next to the stairs. The stair noise and the creaky floors above us woke us up many times. The AC would run but not cool the room. The room lights were a flickering light at the entry and ONE lamp in the corner (no bedside lamp). Under the bed was trash (big cereal box and bunch of little things) - a safety hazard with kids. I let the front desk person know about issues in the morning. Didn't seem liked she cared and just said she'll let maintenance know. I would not recommend this place for a restful night or a safe place for families.

This is a very nice hotel, clean, comfort rooms, comfortable bed. Many rooms with balconies. There is a nice courtyard that is attractively lit in the evenings. The hotel does not offer breakfast of any kind, and half the machines in the guest laundry were out of order.

1 out of 10 over 1/2 their rooms over look the freeway or on-ramp to 101. At 200+ a night find somewhere else to stay. I book in April of 2021 making a reservation when hotels were hoping for return travel. I checked in at check in time and put overlooking the on-ramp to the 101. I had many hotel choices at the time I booked had I know that half of the rooms are looking at a freeway I would of booked else where. No where on the hotel site do they tell you this point. Other people who booked last minute received a better room than I . I heard the lovely sounds of trucks at night going down the 101. Not the calming sounds of a beach vacation. I wrote to the corporate management and local management no one has offered a refund, or a partial refund for such a neglect of information on their web site when booking.

With all of the issues in our unit - I don't believe we will ever be back. We reached out to the GM & AM on July 3rd and have yet to receive a response. We didn't even complain about all of the other issues when we were there as we were just giving them a chance to correct the non sleeping due to the ceiling creaking because of people walking above. We've been to many hotels and this was the worst ever - the noise was so loud. We also understand when you hear footsteps above (which we're totally okay with) but the loud noise from the creaking of the ceiling was horrific. The other issues with our room - an outlet totally didn't work, the bathroom sink was clogged so every time we tried to use it - it would take a while to go down, they don't clean that well since there was a sock left and was visibly seen & the safe was locked already and we couldn't access it. Hopefully they will respond back soon as I was told they'd be in on July 4th but I guess it wasn't important to them that guests couldn't sleep and were upset.

I wish this hotel had been available for our 3 nights stay in the Santa Barbara area. Unfortunately it was only available for one night. The hotel with the beautiful courtyard was delightful. We stayed on the third floor, with a highly recommended, courtyard view. The beds were very comfortable and the room was clean and beautifully furnished. I will stay here, on any future trips to the area, but will make sure I plan ahead, so there is availability.

The outside of this hotel Is cute but unfortunately the rooms are worn and dirty. Our original room we checked into was unacceptable (see pictures). Holes in the walls, dirty walls, black hairs in the bathrooms, broken things. The fact that we paid $270 for one night was even more frustrating. We went to the front desk and shared our frustration and we received a new room and the current rate of $170. The new room was only slightly better than the first however we were grateful that they gave us the better rate. Overall it felt like at motel 6.

We always stay at this hotel. When we come to see our daughter because nice location the beach is close by along with many places to eat. Everyone is nice. The rooms are rooms. Recommend the room with court yard view and balcony. This time we didn't have one and we were bummed but we were only staying 1 night Pool and gym was by appointment due to covid

You will love the peace and tranquility of this hotel. The fountain in their beautiful courtyard makes you feel relaxed and well-rested. They maintain high standards for COVID safety practices and the parking lot is free and very safe.

The location is close to downtown and overall the hotel courtyard is beautiful. Room is a bit small and bed is not as firm as we like. We do enjoy the town and the beach. Everything is conveniently located. We will stay here again if we visit Carpentaria next time.

This is a lovely property in a darling beachside town, Carpinteria! Highly recommend! It is safe, clean and has easy access to the beach, great dining options, and is a quick drive or train ride to Santa Barbara for museums, shopping and more upscale experiences.

In room 107 the light in the table did not work everything else was excellent kids had a great time and everything watch TV internet they had a great time at the pool the employers were excellent and the guess were very polite and excited to show you where the things were

Homeless people around the parking lot area. Couldn't sleep at night do to people screaming and cursing in the parking lot. I called the front desk and after the third call they answered with an attitude. Hotel around a school and apartments. Lastly, we forgot a Disney shopping bag with all kinds of merchandise and still waiting on an update. Would not stay here ever, ever again! Didn't enjoy my vacation.

Minus working outlets, minus jacuzzi, minus USB charging port, minus 'heated' pool, minus clean room (actual pizza left in the room), minus maid service, minus properly fitted shower faucet, minus potable sink water (smelled like sewage), minus peace and quiet through the night, minus a corporate policy to effectively deal with drunk, fighting guests that does not put the staff in danger. The staff is lovely... and way overworked. I feel sorry for them - they are doing the best they can. Never, ever again for me. They have lost a customer.

The property is beautiful with a wonderful courtyard. Walking distance to restaurants and the beach. We didn't experience any issues with road/construction noise. Loved the room service option for breakfast!

I sure won't be coming to this best western again, friendly receptionist but did not resolve my issue at all our check in time was 3 I had reserve my stay a day before and we were ask to wait 2 hours or so because our room was not ready. I used my rewards pints for this stayed and was a total lost of points ..

We are glad we only booked one night! What a nightmare. We booked this hotel for 1 night, close to Santa Barbara, but somewhat cheaper than the hotels there. I don't expect much from a hotel: the room needs to be clean (which it was), it needs to be quiet (no, this is the nightmare part), my car needs to be safe (it was) and the price needs to be fair (not at all!) From the reviews, I had learned to book a room facing the courtyard, so our room wouldn't be facing the freeway. We did that, and we got that. So far so good. We got a room on the first floor. You need to know that this building is old, and anybody walking on the floor above you, will be very loud. Unfortunately, the family staying in the room above us, was just insane. They were not watching TV from their beds, they were running, screaming, jumping and stomping, and it sounded like they were going to come crashing through the ceiling at any time. I didn't want to say anything or complain at first, but when things hadn't calmed down by 10:30pm, I called the front desk. Things got better for 5 minutes, but then all hell broke loose again. We had showered, were in bed, and were exhausted from a long day and I didn't want to go through the hassle of asking for another room and moving. Things did calm down a bit around 11:15pm, and we finally were able to fall asleep. Mind you, the noise was not only coming from the room above us. The courtyard is very pretty, but a lot of rooms have balconies, and people talking and laughing from their balconies bounces of the walls and gets LOUD! Things were quiet during the night, but in the morning, some families had their kids running and screaming across the courtyard. There was simply no way to sleep through that. We got up and left, totally exhausted. At checkout, the front desk attendant didn't even look at me or say anything. I gave the room keys, I said "checking out" and after 10 seconds they quietly responded with "you are all set" without looking up from their computer or asking how our stay was. What a joke! And I didn't even mention that the shower had barely any water coming out of it. We had stayed at a Holiday Inn Express the night before which cost $100 less and was a 10/10 experience. I would avoid this place like the plague.

I have been coming to the Best Western Plus for years - a favorite for its location and its wonderful courtyard - but this year in particular, when traveling has been stressful and even dangerous, this hotel is the one place I have felt safe. The staff is fantastic and each person does their best to accommodate and help their guests. The rooms are beautifully cleaned, they've followed all safety protocols, and they've done a great job with takeout and room service from their restaurant. In particular, though I'd like to salute Anicya, who went above and beyond on my last trip to get me the room I'd requested. Jeff, the manager, and Amelia are also fantastic. Highly recommend.

First of all the court yard area was cute and relaxing. Loved having a balcony that overlooked the court yard. The bartender Erica was awesome! The room service meals were good. With that being said our stay there was terrible! The room above us had guest who were inconsiderate. We heard stomping and jumping every night and every morning for 2 days!! I called and complained each day but the front desk was no help because they were fully booked. For 2 days we got little sleep. It was so bad that our hotel neighbors started banging on the ceiling in response to the stomping. At check out I complained to the front desk and she claimed she would have the manager call me but I never received a phone call from anyone. If you plan to stay here book the 3rd floor.

Front desk has amazing staff. Friendly courteous fast. Rooms are beautiful high-class vaulted ceilings comfy beds and a beautiful terrace. Courtyard is beautiful with lights at night. MUST STAY ❤️❤️❤️

My partner and I are from Santa Barbara and were looking for a weekend getaway where we could try something new and different. We had never visited Carpinteria before and were excited after learning there were some great places to get food and drinks around town. After doing some research and comparing the few options around, we went this Best Western and were not disappointed! Everything about this place was perfect for us. Check in/out was safe and quick. Everyone was friendly and the manager kindly asked us about our stay and made us feel so welcome! We were able to walk to a wine tasting room and breweries around, and even walked across the street for dinner. It seemed like it was in the middle of the town and perfect for those who like being able to walk to all of the local attractions like we do. Their staff had some great local recommendations for us too! Our room was small and cozy, which was perfect for us. We didn't spend too much time in our room. When we did, we noticed some special touches like a welcome bag with snacks and some waters for us. The rooms smelled and looked clean, which I was the most concerned about. There wasn't a trace of anyone staying there before us! In the morning, we ordered breakfast at the restaurant there. The omelettes, pancakes, and breakfast burritos were great. Perfect for us to enjoy before heading home. We walked around and found the beautiful courtyard which we didn't have enough time to enjoy, but we definitely will take advantage of next time. We are so excited to be back here in the near future. We would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking to explore Carpinteria!

I just loved the atmosphere, the friendliness of the staff. and the place! I was able to go to the beach walking. And those places to go shopping, from antiques stores to groceries and restaurants. I think I will go back before summer is over. This was my Spring Break!

I had an enjoyable stay at Best Western!!! Staff was pleasant, helpful and properly and room was clean... Loved the balcony!!! Only thing that wasn't nice was the pandemic limitations and construction on the freeway that wasn't any fault of Best Western, Thank You, I will recommend this Hotel!!!

You will feel very safe staying at this hotel during COVID. They go above and beyond when it comes to safety protocols for your protection. I feel so very relaxed and peaceful each and every time I stay (pre-COVID I would consider it as my home away from home during my monthly getaways. Also, you know your car will be safe in the parking lot during your stay.

Best Wester Carpenteria is our place to relax and escape. Staff is super friendly, rooms and facility are always clean, plenty of parking. On site Sunset Grill restaurant food is fresh, fast and reasonable if you just want to stay in.

I loved everything about this hotel; the location, the staff, the room and especially the beautiful courtyard. I walked to the downtown area and the beach. it's a short drive to many other attractions and cities. I will definitely stay there again.

Best Western in Carpinteria is our favorite get-away spot. The facility and location are excellent and we've always had good experiences there. We esoecially loe the courtyard area and thepatios and balconies that face it.

I've been coming to this hotel for a lot of years , I was shocked to see how much it has declined over the years. This hotel states is a non smoking property but in fact it is. My room smelled like smoke. The rooms next to me were smoking in the room and outside in the balcony which made my stay terrible. I have a asthmatic daughter and she couldn't enjoy her stay because of this. Staff didn't do anything about it.

Overall this is a decent hotel but a very good value for the Santa Barbara area Pros: - staff at the front desk was very helpful and accommodated changes in our stay - bathrooms have been recently remodeled - garden/patio area in the center of the hotel is pleasant - price is a good value for the Santa Barbara area - easy access to hwy 101 Cons - quirky layout of the building, e.g. restaurant area on the 3rd floor - a little run down

Hotel is 3 stories with elevator or stairs, didn't see any restrictions on number of people allowed in elevator at one time. There is refrigerator and safe in room which is good sized. Not sure why if everything is sanitized they would give one person a room with 2 beds, making more room for housekeeping. There is a grill/bar on 3rd floor that has a limited menu but food was good, they do not deal with cash, everything goes on room account. Room door is interesting as there is a large enough gap to see out to hallway through, not at all a tight fit. There is construction in area so if you are a light sleeper you'll hear the noises.

every time I stay at this hotel, its always a wonderful experience, I feel safe and comfortable, the balcony area is so peaceful and beautiful always welcoming experience. the lobby and the court yard are just beautiful and it gives you the feeling like you are in Europe.

Perfect setting to gather with family. Patio setting. Balcony for each room. Rooms were clean & comfy. Sad that fitness center was not available right now during certain shutdowns. Pool was open for certain times for guests.

Gorgeous property in a wonderful location just outside Santa Barbara, incredible value. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place. This is my third location with this company this weekend alone. Right off the bat was giving an amazing welcome by Anecya. Turned my weekend around to be honest for the better. She really took the time to answer my questions and genuinely cared.Anthony and Jeff are also amazing and very helpful. Again hands down the best experience so far. Thank you guys!

Great customer service from the front desk! Great location! Yummy breakfast from the hotels cafe! The deco of the hotel is super charming! With the Spanish architecture and the lovely courtyard this is a great little vacation getaway that close to Santa Barbra without all congestion the city comes with.

I stayed here for a weekend trip. When I checked in, the staff told me that there wouldn't be daily housekeeping because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but they did offer to bring fresh towels or other things I needed. Since I my stay was fairly short (four nights) I didn't have much of a problem with this. The front desk provided a printed map of the rooms, which I suggest you hold on to: The hallways have turns and the rooms are numbered a bit weirdly in my view, so could get a bit lost. There is a refrigerator in the room but no microwave oven, although there is a common microwave on the first floor next to the vending machine (you'll need to go outside into the courtyard to get to it). The Internet/Wi-Fi connection was reasonably good. The hotel does not provide complimentary breakfast, but there is a restaurant on the third floor where you can get a decent meal. (Indoor dining is allowed with limited capacity under the COVID-19 restrictions in the area, although the restaurant offered a to-go option too.) The listed hours were 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM (breakfast) and 5:30 PM to 9:30 PM (dinner). The hotel is located about half a mile from the downtown area.

Upon arrival, I did not enter my room, checked in and went to dinner. I requested a crib in my room and when I got to the room I had a corner room with NO VIEW of the courtyard, which I had requested during my reservation. No crib was in my room. So I had to wait. I called the front desk to complain about my room and was not offered any kind of compensation or to try and make me happy. Secondly, I was in the shower and housekeeping tried to enter my room TWICE! I'm a single mother with two daughters, no one knocked to announce themselves. Check out is at 12 and these people kept trying to enter my room at 11. I'm a frequent to the area and have stayed at this hotel 4 times and each time it keeps going down hill! I will never stay at this hotel ever again! Best western lost a loyal customer

Due to being a young female I was targeted by a man in the parking lot. When trying to move my luggage inside he kept getting closer and closer. When I told the front desk about the safety reason she mention it just happens a lot. I ended up never going into the room and the team never gave partial refund. AWFUL experience! Would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone.

I really wanted to like this place. When we arrived to check in a woman was complaining that there was hair in her room and that the room smelled musty. Which is exactly why a previous reviewer said on Tripadvisor, only reinforcing the previous reviewer's testimony. We stayed in our 1-night room and everything seemed decent...as we were making the bed before our check out, we noticed there was a FECES STAIN on the BED AND upon further inspection of the room ON THE WALL as well. When we told the front desk, they said that nothing could be comped because we already had received the "First Responder's" discount. The woman at the front desk said she was the manager and that she would add points as compensation. After us finding out during already precarious COVID times that we stayed in a bed with feces, I was livid by this seemingly apathetic response from the manager. Complete HEALTH HAZARD during COVID pandemic. PS: When I went to the Best Western South Coast Inn a few weeks later, they said there were no points added by this hotel. I highly recommend the BW South Coast Inn though. Night and day compared to this place. Great customer service, super accommodating, kind staff and clean rooms at BW South Coast Inn. Hidden Gem!

i have started to expect a certain level of quality from best western plus locations, but unfortunately, this property was a disappointment compared to the others. for one thing, the maintenance employees were NOT wearing the covid masks like all the customers are expected to wear. the bathroom light never did work. and the place was pretty noisy in the morning, i think some carpet-cleaning was going on pretty early. shouldn't this be done after 11 am or something like that? i expect this sort of thing at the motel-6, but not when paying this kind of money.

A bit more basic and run down than we've come to expect of Best Western Pluses. For example, the shower curtain was a bit ripped and the coffee maker was missing an essential piece. Clean and quiet though, and it was nice to sit outside the room eating our breakfast snacks. The courtyard looked very nice, and right at the main entrance there was a small fountain with fish and turtles, which was a hit with our four-year-old.

Front desk staff is wonderful, room service is available, the room was clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom faucet smelled horribly of sulpher and once they get it fixed, I would stay again. Beautiful courtyard and great location make this a nice stay away from the other hotels in town. Super close to Linden Ave which is where most of the fun in town is.

This Best Western Plus does NOT offer complimentary breakfast in any form whether we're in the middle of a pandemic, or not. Because of Covid, there is no daily housekeeping. They will bring you fresh towels and sheets, but you gotta make your own bed and clean up after yourself. You can leave your garbage outside your room and they will pick it up. The restaurant has an extremely limited menu (if you are vegetarian, you're going to go hungry). The bar serves sodas, beer, and wine, again because of covid. So if you want hard alcohol, bring your own. There's a fridge in the room but no microwave. The microwave is in the vending machine room. Fitness center is closed, but the very small pool is available by appointment only. You can reserve a one hour time and the pool closes at 6pm. I definitely suggest the courtyard view with balcony. It was nice to sit out there in the evenings and have cocktails. This Best Western was satisfactory, it would be so much better after we get out of this pandemic mess. Its very convenient right off the freeway, and a very pleasant 10-15 minute walk to the downtown area and beach. Go for ice cream at Rori's...so good!! The pasta at Guicho's was amazing as well. And you can get a pretty darn good margarita at Oaxaca Fresh.

We've stayed here many times for my husband's work assignments in Carp. Staff is nice and rooms are reasonably priced. I can tell the staff disinfect high traffic areas. My favorite rooms are those on the 3rd floor. They have high ceilings. Staff does what they can to accommodate special requests.

Pros: 1. Free slow to average speed WiFi 2. Dated but clean room 3. Clean bathroom with rain shower head 4. Balcony access with table and chairs 5. Hotel cafe available room service for take out only. 6. Freeway access Cons: 1. In-room safe door came off. 2. Loud and sticking entry door to room difficult to open. 3. No USB ports in the room or anywhere else, a standard in most hotels these days 4. No sleep timer on room TV 5. Loud in-room air conditioner, not good for night use. I could also hear when the one next door started throughout the night. 6. Older room Furniture FYI: Accidently left a valuble diamond ring in a room there a few years ago. It never showed up!

We were checking out the hotel before we booked the room and were delighted about the friendliness of the staff and how the outside of the hotel looked like. It has a small courtyard and it is best to book a courtyard room and venue better if you are on the first floor than you have a small seating area outside. The pool was still closed due to COVID but we could order room service from the on site restaurant for dinner and breakfast which was great.

*Safety Alert* I stayed at the Best Western Plus in Carpinteria from 7/26- 7/29. The first two nights were great. On the last night, shortly after 3:00 AM my family and I were awakened by loud knocking on our door. I jumped out of bed and through the peephole a man in his early twenties dressed in all black. I ran to the phone, started calling the front desk and the phone died. Loud knocking continued and my two young kids woke up scared. The phone rang seconds later, I picked it up but it died again. I wanted to call 911 but by then the knocking had stopped. My two kids were wide awake and scared. I had to google the hotel phone number on my cell phone to call the hotel front desk. After several rings they answered. The employee apologized and said it was a misunderstanding and they were with the person. I stayed up all morning, even though I had to drive out of town in a few hours because I was very uneasy and scared. In the morning, I checked out and the front office employee was nowhere to be found. When I called out after a few minutes she appeared and apologized. She said she will inform her manager about the phone. I was SO grateful there was someone on duty at the front at 3:00 AM otherwise 911 would have been my only option. I have never had anything like this happen through about 20 booking on Hotels.com before. *Please stay alert and check Hotel safety protocols, working phones, etc.*. Keep your families safe.

Property is located right off the freeway, close to the shops and a few blocks away from the beach. This stay left a lot to be desired though. Revived a check in email the day prior to arrival. I mentioned I was a diamond select and asked about upgrade and early check in, perks of the status. Didn't end up trying to check in early as I was told that began at 12:30... if rooms are available the night before via vacancy you would think I'd be able to check in at any time. 330pm or so arrived but at check in was not acknowledged as a diamond select or provided any welcome gift or option for extra points. Again both perks from the diamond select status. Immediately upon entering the room when to the restroom and noticed a long hair on the toilet! Due to covid-19 there should be extra precaution and stringent cleaning going on. If a hair is left behind how good of a cleaning job was actually done? I called to report and front desk agent said they could send someone up, but the last thing we wanted was to come into close contact with others. Besides they had a chance to clean the room and double check the next day since apparently rooms are being kept unoccupied for some time after a checkout. The room I was assigned to had a balcony unfortunately the room next to mine also shared this balcony. I was told at check in that rooms were not all being used so that after a stay a room would stay vacant for a few days. It would make sense that rooms that share balconies not both be in use at the same time for social distance measures. We didn't feel comfortable sitting in the balcony as there were two ladies out there having wine when we took a look. Another issue is that pool reservations are required and was told that 5 people maximum at a time. I tried making a reservation when I did the email check in the previous day but was told I could not do that.We had a reservation for the pool from 11-12 this morning and then a family of 4 joined, 2 of us + 4 = 6 which would be over the stated capacity. Other amenities not offered, use of the fitness center and spa/jacuzzi.

When I was ready to go to bed the sheets had blood stains or some kind of stains and I called the front desk and all they could do is give me new sheets and change them ourselves and could not give us another room. Very inconvenient and unsanitary . I took pictures of it. It was very gross.

6/2/20 I stayed here for one night in room 230. My room was clean, with the necessary amenities. I got the room closest to the freeway, but was asked if that was ok from the receptionist. I don't mind the noise so I took that room. The bathroom had a great shower head for an even better showering experience. I loved the courtyard as it was the most beautiful setup I've ever encountered. Unfortunately due to covid-19, fitness, pool and spa were all still closed. But my bed was comfortable and bed bug free, and I got my sleep and was well rested. I will most definitely stay here again if and when in the area. Such a beautiful hotel inside and out.

Courtney made our visit so great. We showed up early she took our luggage and bicycle up to the room for us while we were out. Left a nice note. I think asked if she had a charger for my bike lights. She charged them and brought to our room. I gave a tip and she resisted it. I left it on the counter. When we returned home she had left us a nice note and left the tip in our room. Courtney is fantastic and takes great pride in her work

This is a conveniently located within walking distance of the beach. It is well run with a competent, friendly staff. It is clean, comfortable & well maintained. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate the guests. The Sunset Grill & Bar is a great value.

Not worth the money. Stay in a regular BW. No breakfast included with stay (usually standard at BW hotels). The room was very small and the small things were not taken care of with this stay that I am used to when I have used BW in the past.

This property is a hidden secret for road warriors or anyone that wants to escape for a few nights. Close to beaches, a small town feel and onsite restaurant that is open for breakfast and dinner, and its great. We stayed for two nights on a saturday and sunday, and it broke up our trip home nicely. In fact, we hated to leave. The small courtyard has a fountain and offers a tropical feel for a drink or two, or three.

I've stayed here five separate times and have always had a good experience. The room is quiet and there are blackout curtains. Good service at the desk. There is a fridge in the room and the rooms are spacious and comfortable and have fast easy internet connection. Good value.

Good evening, so far my stay has been disappointing. First our air conditioning was blowing out a horrible smell and couldn't use it made it tough to sleep. Also mattress seemed to be sunk in a bit in the middle, last the fire alarm went off at 6 am made our first night worst. I reported my problem in where I was told a manager would contact me and it has yet to happen. Not happy with my stay. I never or dont recall ever giving a bad review before I usually thought it out but this was a special getaway for my wife's 50th birthday and wasnt a great experience like planned. Also when o got to hotel I checked price on my phone and it was $356 vs $387 that I am being charged by hotels.com that's $30 less if I would have gone directly through hotel.

We were traveling for business and rented several rooms for several nights. Each room was very comfortable and my entire crew was happy with our hotel choice. The location is very convenient for easy on and off access to the highway. It would be my first choice when returning to the area.

Best Western Carpinteria is my hotel of choice when visiting the Santa Barbara area. It has all the comforts of home, a friendly staff, and is close enough to SB to enjoy all that SB has to offer. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are always clean. The hotel is close to downtown Carpinteria and blocks from the beach. You are able to enjoy the comfort of a small town feel within minutes of major attractions. The local restaurants and shops are a joy to visit

We stayed at this hotel recently for a family vacation. What a beautiful place! The location is great, within walking distance to a great downtown that had nice shops and great restaurants. It's also very close to the ocean and just a short drive to Santa Barbara. The hotel itself is great. The rates are really good. The rooms are very nice and the courtyard is beautiful. The on-site restaurant was a great surprise. I give this hotel five stars across the board. We travel to this area quite a bit to see family and this will definitely be our “go to” for a place to stay on future trips.

BW Plus in Carpinteria is consistently attempting to provide upgrades and improvements to their property and hospitality. I have stayed here monthly for over five years and have noticed consistent improvements all around. They are invested in making your experience the best it can be. The price, depending on season, seems a bit steep for what the amenities are. However, location is ideal. One is paying for accessibility and not the steeper Santa Barbara pricing.

We have always driven by Carpinteria, but we decided to break up a long road trip with a stay here. This was a gorgeous property. We had a courtyard view room. From the balcony, we overlooked the lush courtyard, with fountains and flowers. This was lit beautifully at night with colored lights. In the daytime, the courtyard was verdant with greenery, and the mountains were visible beyond the hotel. The room was clean and modern, with a very comfortable bed. Staff was charming. Overall, a delightful surprise.

Expected more of what I got, room too close to the freeway, our room was located on the first floor. The room upstairs and room next door was like the guests were with us, unable to rest and relax so sad the bed was very comfortable but grounds needed more upkeep

The hotel was beautiful; however, when we arrived at checkin time, there was a two hour delay because rooms were not cleaned. We were told they had computer problems. We had a nice dinner and returned to the hotel two hours later and were checked in. Rooms nice. However, all night we heard people walking/stomping upstairs and car doors closing, etc. There is no sound proofing in this hotel. Will not stay there again.

The room was nice and the patio furniture was nice. The water fountain on the patio was very relaxing. The restaurant on the third floor was nice. The food was good and happy hour was nice. A perfect place for a vacation.

This property is well maintained and is served by a friendly staff. The location is convenient to the freeway and is within walking distance to coffee shops and restaurants. I grew up in Carpinteria and return to the area often on business. I highly recommend this hotel.

Visiting for a 3 day weekend from LA. Krysta took my reservation on the phone and greeted me by name every time I saw her at the Front Desk. Tido was the waiter in the very nice restaurant on the 3rd floor. I walked there Fri and Sat and ordered food to take back to the room. He had it prepared and packaged within a few minutes. Both of them were professional, attentive and courteous. They had big smiles and seem sincerely interested in making our stay as nice as possible. This is the only hotel I will stay in when visiting Carpinteria.

We were on a work trip so not able to change our reservation if it adds cost. I am sure there are good rooms but this ain't one. Woke up at 5am because the customer in the room above us was packing or otherwise getting ready for the day. It was not that person's fault, these floors/ceilings are just noisy. The room is dark with no natural light even at this sunny time of day. Dark and depressing. 2 twin mattresses stacked outside our window, which also looks into someone's office. Also the electrical outlet for the desk did not work so no lamp, no laptop charging etc. at the desk. I called the front desk to ask about a repair or room switch- no answer. When I walked through later the front desk person was busy on the phone. I think other rooms with balconies, looking out at the mountains or otherwise better situated must be nice. If you stay here ask carefully about noise natural light etc. Good luck.

The property is quite nice, the rooms are clean, and it is a great location. Unfortunately, several issues and the staff response were inadequate. We arranged for a late check-out, but when we went back to our room the keys had stopped working. When I notified the front desk, they were were very rude and told me they don't give late check outs, despite my having arranged it upon arrival. Additionally, someone near our room was smoking and we had a good deal of smoke coming into our room. We were particularly concerned because we were traveling with our toddler. The front desk told me that it could not be possible because it was a non smoking hotel. I understand that you cannot control all guest behavior, but don't tell your guests that they are lying. Despite the many positives, I cannot recommend this Best Western. I would recommend going somewhere else that values their guests.

Modern rooms, elegant lobby, friendly staff, restaurant/bar with variety of food and drink options and reasonable prices. There is a gorgeous courtyard in the middle of the inn. The motel is conveniently located right off the freeway in a nice neighborhood.

This hotel is clean and spacious. The staff is friendly and helpful. Great location and easy to find! The work out room is good also. The hot tub is very small so we did not use that! The fruit water in the lobby was great!

We stayed in this hotel for one night on a road trip from San Francisco to LA. As the hotel was next to the freeway we did not have high expectations that it would be quiet in our room but it was with the window closed. The room was tastefully decorated and the bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. Breakfast wasn't included but we had a very nice low cost breakfast at the hotel's beautifully appointed restaurant and bar and also had dinner there which was also well priced with good food and service. The grounds of the hotel are lush and well kept and there is a beautiful inner courtyard with a fountain. And the staff here very helpful and polite. This was the last and best hotel that we stayed at on our four week trip to the US and I would highly recommend it.

My family lives in Santa Barbara. Each time I visit, I stay in Carpinteria at the Best Western. It is my home away from home. It is always clean, comfortable,and the staff is amazing! I have written a review during previous stays. This hotel deserves another 5 star review. I will continue to stay here in the future. I appreciate that there is a small pool to use- even though we are blocks from the beach.

It was a great place to stay the price is a little high but you get what you pay for very good staff and good breakfast it's very close to the beach and to town overall a great stay and we had a great time

My husband and i were coming home from a business trip very tired and exhausted. We decided to spend the night at Carpinteria's BW the night before and booked this hotel. We were pleased when we drove up to this property. Very clean and pretty. The desk clerk made us feel at home and treated us like we weerre special. The experience only improved. The room was extremely cofortable and clean. I would highly recomend this property to everyone.

Our room had a balcony and overlooked a courtyard patio with a fountain. We left our window open all night and enjoyed the soothing sound of flowing water. Although breakfast was not included in the price of the room, we enjoyed a reasonably priced full breakfast in the dining room that was one floor up from our room, which also looked out on the patio and fountain. This hotel has nice amenities, such as help-yourself, ice cold lemon or cucumber water in the lobby.

One problem with choice of guest room was resolved the day after our arrival. Guest room options/choices need to be clearly outlined on the web site. I requested a courtyard room thinking there would be a patio as I had before but this was not the case. Secondly, night staff had no clue how to handle protocol in case of emergency. Poorly trained to answer guest needs.

I have stayed here many times. This is the go to hotel for us! When we don't have time to visit one of the many coffee shops downtown for breakfast the hotel Restaurant is always consistent. I've actually had dinner there as well. The menu isn't extensive but there should be something there you'll like. The rooms are clean and if you can get a patio room on the ground floor I highly recommend it. People sit out at night and have cocktails. It's quite social. The gym is well stocked with equipment too. The jacuzzi is tiny but it is separated from the pool so it's nice to relax in & not worry about kids being kids. This is a great property to spend a few days at.

Great location, very nice patio area & courtyard. Feels like you're in a Spanish villa. Staff very friendly & professional. Why 3 stars? This is the only BW I've stayed at that doesn't offer free breakfast. At at minimum include free coffee & fruit in the lobby area and a half price voucher for the onsite restaurant. The bed was hard & the pillows were half the size of a regular pillow. The hallway carpeting was due for changing 2 years ago.

Nice looking property from the exterior and the rooms are well-appointed but too pricey (even with our AAA rate) -- a room facing the lush interior garden courtyard will cost you a bit more if you like a nice view and not one of the surrounding parking areas. There's a restaurant called Sunset Grille on the 3rd floor, which I guess was the reason there was no complimentary breakfast included at most "Plus" properties. Staff was very nice overall. I'm a BW Rewards member and upon checkout Krista helped me with my option to receive points for my stay or get a snack bag (why one or the other? And who would want a snack bag filled with chips, etc., instead of points?) On the other hand, my rewards program status was never acknowledged by staff at check-in. Also, there was a strong odor of cigarette smoke in the hallways and lobby -- I'm guessing from the side lobby door remaining open from the time we checked in (7 p.m.) to the time we returned from dinner (10 p.m.) -- not to mention the security issue that it raises. On a final note, just a couple of minor "Minuses": the pool was the smallest we've ever seen in proportion to the size of the property, and one of our rooms had a second random desk chair in the corner instead of a nicer cushioned-chair w/ottoman.

We were particularly disappointed by the amount of noise at night, even on the side away from the highway. We were on the first floor and the floors above us were incredibly squeaky - so much so that we could clearly hear even the lightest footstep from our upstairs neighbors. Someone above us happened to be very active between the hours of 3am and 5am (potentially an employee?), so we were up from 3am to 5am. This made it a very poor stay for us. Also note that the jacuzzi is not much larger than a bathtub and was extremely dirty as well as locked. If the pool/jacuzzi is something you're looking forward to, I think it'd be best to stay somewhere else. Also our room was pretty cramped and dark compared to other Best Westerns we've stayed at.

Last second booking for an overnight stay in Carpinteria on a Saturday night and one room left so we ended up paying a Hetty price of $ 300 bucks. The price for a last minute change of plans I guess. But Hey , it's not just a BW , it's a BW plus !!!! Not sure what the plus stands for ??? Arriving late, both water jugs were empty, hard to find room and room was very ordinary, even on the small side. I have stayed in much better for a lot less. On a positive side the bathroom was big and nice, courtyard that we discovered when were Leaving looked very Nice. Csnt comment on the restaurant, was closed when we arrived and not open yet when we left the next day

This hotel is super clean, the employees are super friendly and very helpful, always making sure to greet you. The maid service is the best - we were very lucky to have Alicia as our maid and absolutely loved her. Rooms are nicely decorated. The landscaping around the hotel is so beautiful. I would highly recommend this hotel. I travel quite a bit and this is the first time I have ever felt the need to comment on this site. That's how much we loved this place. Restaurant and bar was also great and super convenient. The best!!

My job requires going up and down the coast, I stay at various hotels and this one is by far your worst. Not only was I treated with no respect but NO ROOMS WHERE READY!! I came in at 3 and absolutely no rooms were ready and told me to wait an additional hour for them to get ready. I waited and came back at 4. STILL WEREN'T READY!!! How are paying customers supposed stay in rooms that aren't ready??????

The room we stayed in was adjacent to a shared balcony. There were two drunk men sitting and having a loud conversation at 2:30 AM. They were practically up against our window. A fellow hotel guest confronted them on their noise, and they eventually returned to their rooms. I called and registered a complaint with the front desk. When I informed the manager the next morning, he said it wasn't the hotel's responsibility for loud guests, and that nothing can be done. He was also somewhat confrontational and did not want to address the issue. He made me feel as if I was the problem. As a veteran, I do appreciate the veteran and military discounts, but as a loyal customer and human being, I deserve more respect and professionalism.

Starting with checking in, I was celebrating our anniversary. I made room reservation for a king bed. Went to the room and it look like two full beds were there. Went back to front desk where I was told there were no other rooms. I felt the manager Michael Reardon did nothing. He pretty much said take it or leave it. We had already driven for almost three hours. Room was ok but it did have a weird smell. I could not complain because there supposedly were no other rooms. Again not happy...

Clean and safe if you are staying in Carpinteria. I would have liked a bigger pool and spa. Also since it's not right on the beach , bicycles would be a nice amenity to make it easier. Overall a beautiful property and front desk staff were helpful and friendly

The room was better than expected for a BW and desk service was friendly. But, while having nachos and a beer at the lounge, I witnessed a horrible event. The bartender turned rude and aggressive against a trio of hispanic millenials. He threatened them and told them to leave his bar. They did nothing wrong other than call him on his inappropriate comments to them. The bartender then enlisted a couple of his "regulars" (yes, amazing that locals would go to this lounge) to threaten and intimidate the trio (and threatened me, middle-aged white guy, after I told the bartender that I didn't think his behavior was OK). I wouldn't give one star if this incident was ever handled well. I called the General Manager the following day and he was not interested in hearing anything about the incident and he said that he's already known all he needs to know. If they didn't fire the bartender, they get one star.

Room was dark, things broken or didnt work, slow internet, noisy fan in the bathroom (came on @7:30 am), main door didnt close properly, onsite restaurant had poor service, served us very dry rolls, old lettuce, chicken entree was dry with no evidence of wine sauce for dinner. ..breakfast the next morning had bad tasting orange juice, overdone eggs and burned pancakes.. avoid this restaurant ....I love Best Westerns but will never stay at this location again....it turned out to be a nightmare anniversary celebration . ..thanks Best Western Carpenteria.

From the time I checked in, through dinner and breakfast, through getting directions for a fun afternoon, I must say that I really enjoyed my stay. The atmosphere was quiet yet upbeat, all staff were most helpful and the location made adventuring quite easy!

The hotel was very nice. Our room was clean. The center court yard is very pretty I wish we had a one of the rooms that opened out into the courtyard. The rooms at the back are a little noisy because they back up to the Freeway. They did warn me but I wanted a room on the 3rd floor and that was all that was available.I would stay there again

The room was clean and the staff on Check in and Check out was fine. Old Technology as far as sound proofing the room. IT NEEDS an upgrade to be a place I would recommend. Parking was good and the overall appearance of the OLD Motel/hotel was pretty well maintained.

Stayed here for one night on our way to Venice Beach. Really enjoyed the stay, the hotel was clean and tidy, the room was large and comfortable and breakfast which was included in the price was delicious. Everyone at the hotel was courteous and friendly. I also liked Carpinteria which has a fab beach. I would recommend a stay here and just to advise the hotel has a central courtyard which is worth having a relax in.

Horrible experience. I stayed three nights. I was bitten by bugs. I reached out to the manager. Never got a response. DO NOT USE THE BLANKET IN THE CLOSET! Be careful saying here, it's a health hazard!

My German friend of 60 years and her spouse visited us in SoCal, and we took them to see our granddaughter in Carpinteria. Understanding the importance of this visit, the hotel staff assigned us *adjacent rooms* with a *shared balcony* overlooking the *courtyard*. It could not have been a more perfect set-up, thank you!! My husband and I look forward to future stays at your beautiful hotel.

Stayed for one night and feel the glitz of the outside doesn't match the tired interior. Had to pay for breakfast. Then found our credit card had mysteriously disappeared once we left the hotel. We did call to enquire but the front desk informed us that the restaurant was closed so we couldn't speak to any staff from the restaurant. Less than helpful. Added stress we could have done without. I wouldn't stay here again.

Very noisy, no free breakfast, poor in room a/c Close to other places to see and eat and shop. Disappointing added stress to a very stressful day already. Felt that the front desk was just listening to me but had no intention of really helping me.

A very nice hotel, much better than we expected, located just outside Santa Barbara, which thankfully we didn't stay at. The hotel had excellent facilities the rooms are really nice and the double queen size beds delightful. The only downside was the 5am call we received, assumed it was programmed from the previous occupants.

This hotel is a little on the expensive side, but it's a very nice property that doesn't feel like it's part of a chain. When we checked in we were given a room on the first floor facing the courtyard with a patio, which was great, but the next morning we were woken up at 8am by the person above us moving around. I'm normally not that sensitive to noise but the floorboards must have been pretty old and creaky, because it was LOUD. Fortunately when we bought it up to the front desk staff they were totally accommodating and moved us right away into a new room on the third floor which was perfect. The bar staff was friendly (as were the drink prices) and the breakfast at the restaurant was good. The pool and spa are both small (the spa's maximum capacity is 3 people) but still enjoyable, and the pool area does have chairs you can layout on. There's also a small but well-equipped gym that has lots of cardio equipment as well as free weights and a weight machine. The location is also great; Carpenteria is a small town so it just takes about a 10 minute walk along the main street to get into the downtown area, and about just as long to get to the train station or the beach. The only thing to note is that the hotel is pretty close to the freeway. While we did not hear any noise from it in our room, if you had a room with a city view it might impact you. All in all we had an enjoyable stay and would recommend this hotel (just request a courtyard room on the top floor!).

The hotel is older and it seemed a little overpriced for what you get but I'm guessing it's because it's in the Santa Barbara area which is pricey. I would probably rate it 3 1/2 stars if that were an option. The outside looks nice at night with all the lights. The courtyard also looked very nice. Room appeared clean but dated. The room has a refrigerator but no microwave. The refrigerator was turned off though with a note attached about saving energy, which is fine but it was a little annoying to have to move things around and pull it out to reach the cord and outlet to plug it in. They have a restaurant on site but for the price of the room, some sort of breakfast should have been included. It's about a 5 minute drive to the beach. Very nice area.

Very nice grounds and courtyard which are lit up at night. Good parking and friendly front counter staff. Rooms on the small side and bed was not comfortable. Carpeting is very old both in rooms and throughout halls. Nice large fridge although would have liked a microwave. Overall a charming hotel but would love to see money spent on some basic upgrades, especially new beds and carpeting.

Friendly and accommodating staff. Hotel property is very nicely maintained. The rooms are tastefully furnished and everything appeared in good condition and in working order. They have a very nice courtyard with a fountain and everything lights up in the evening. I ate a breakfast and a dinner at the hotel restaurant and found the food and service very good. They also have a litter bar area and a daily happy hour. I did not sit at the bar but it draws a good crowd in the evening. Overall great experience at this property and will definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

This hotel was a very good value. The hotel was super clean and the staff was extremely honest and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel when you are in the Santa Barbara area. We will definitely return to this hotel.

We can to the hotel which had a large group checking in. The hotel knew they were coming but still did not manage to have all the rooms ready. Poor planning for such a large hotel. Rooms are small and beds a little soft for us.

Great for our romantic weekend getaway. Room was clean and staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was perfect for the beach activities we had booked. There were also some great little restaurants a short driving distance for us to explore. We have a lovely time!

Upon checking into the room and unpacking my few belongings, I got ready for a shower and sleep. This was to be a quick and short stay. 6 hours total. I opened the bathroom door and was absolutely disgusted to find it filled with gnats/ fruit flies. DISGUSTING. It was already so late and I only had a few precious moments to sleep, I didn't go through the process to pack my stuff and switch rooms. I don't understand how maintenance and housekeeping didn't notice this after turning the room over after the last guest. I could have paid about 1/3 the price for a room in a flea bag in. Did not expect such conditions for the price i was paying. It didn't end there either. At 5AM I was woken up by a persistent loud banging noise from above. I couldn't even imagine what could be causing and creating this. I called the front desk as I wanted to sleep the few moments I had left. Nothing was done. I continued to be woken up repeatedly until I checked out.

We enjoyed our stay very much. A great place to visit. It's a beautiful town and beach. We particularly enjoyed the hotel courtyard. It's a wonderful retreat. The staff were very helpful and took good care of us.

I was in town for a business presentation, and this hotel was extremely handy. Good location, easy access to the freeway, easy walking distance into charming Carpinteria. Room was small, but really nice. I would stay here again.

We've been staying at the Best Western for years mainly for the customer service and amenities. Over the years we've accumulated points for our stay which even made our bill less. For this, we have always been a loyal customer of Best Western.

I have stayed at this hotel many times during the past 25 years. I am sorry to say that both the service, cleanliness and comfort of the rooms has gone way down hill over time. The lobby has been renovated but the rest is not up to standards. The first night I had a room near the freeway. It was very noisy, the bathroom fan was broken and could not be turned off. The sheets smelled like they had not been changed and when I looked closely, there was hair and stains on them!! There were hairs left in the bath tub and on the towels. I do not believe they had bothered to clean the room. I asked for another room the next day and it was better. The front desk staff range from very nice and helpful to nasty and horrible. Checking in late in the evening, the young woman was horrible! She acted like we were bothering her by checking in and could barely explain or answer questions. When I asked about check-in times (regarding a friend the next day) she said they didn't have a time and it depended on housekeeping and how was she supposed to know when the rooms were ready? I was shocked at her response. Most hotels have a check in time, like after 4:00 or something. She acted like I was making some impossible demand on her asking for a check-in time. Very rude. I am so surprised since the day time staff are so very nice and accommodating. The manager was working the day I checked out and although he was efficient, he was not at all friendly.

Nice Hotel with-in walking distance to downtown.except one of the only BW I have stayed at with no comp breakfast included. Had to travel to downtown for breakfast which was a nice morning walk,Staff at hotel was very nice. rooms are fairly new, no negatives.

By chance our hotel was south of the 101 closure because of rain. Our room was small but held our wine tasting group. Found a local resturant that was OK not as good as our Chase on State in Santa Barabra which we had to cancel because of the rain-out on 101 freeway.

We were surprised when we arrived at this property. While it is in a city setting, it really seems like a place on its own. The atmosphere is very cozy. We had a room in the corner with a private balcony overlooking the courtyard, a little closet, and a large bathroom with two sinks. Unfortunately, it was rainy, so we did not get to enjoy the private balcony. The room was right around the corner from the restaurant on the third floor, which serves breakfast and dinner. The portions were large enough to share, but the meal preparation was a little iffy. The first day was not so good; the second day a big improvement. Overall, for a short getaway, this place is perfect.

Over all our experience was very good. Though I had asked for a blow 2 times without any results. Also the in room safe did not work so we had to carry our valuables with us everywhere we went. Safe was never fixed.

The hotel felt so festive with the beautiful decorations, Christmas trees, and Christmas lights in the courtyard. The staff is warm and caring so my 5-day stay mid-December was an exceptional experience.

The best western plus is a prime location in Carpinteria as it is a short walk to the shops and beach area. My room is always clean, the general areas are tidy with a nice patio. Staff at this location are very helpful and will go the extra mile if needed to make you comfortable. I come here for business but I wouldn't mind staying again for leisure. Side note: the food at the restaurant upstairs has delicious food. They of course do room service which makes it that much better.

A group of six of us stayed at the BW in Carpenteria and this was an excellent place to stay. Very friendly staff and clean with very comfortable beds. Breakfast was included and it was a full breakfast with eggs, protein, pancakes and juice or coffee or greatA group of us stayed at the BW in carpenteria and I highly recommend it. The hotel is beautiful and very clean. Staff could not have been friendlier to us and we enjoyed it. Beds were very comfy. Only negative was that it is right off the highway so there was a bit of noise. I will definitely be back as I loved it.

I moved here from the top-rated Carpinteria hotel, the Holiday Inn Express, which was fine, but this BW is exceptional. The inner courtyard courtyard garden is beautifully planted, and has a central fountain whose gentle sounds fill the air. I hardly ever wanted to close the french doors to this music. There are shaded tables placed around it. I enjoyed several (take-out) meals here. Noise from the adjacent freeway is completely absent. Even the stonework of the entryway is artful and pleasing. Service was devoted and competent, and to my mind beyond the call of duty. I arrived in the morning. Arline at the front desk helped me choose a room (don't know whether Diamond BW status helped there--I had my pick.) She took my reservation, and promised me a call when it became available. She provided me a map to the beach, which is a few minutes walk away. She did phone, three hours before official check-in, so my stay here began early. Other reviewers criticized the small hot tub. It *is* small, but it is good and hot, nicely tiled, and the jets are strong. I had it completely to myself for an evening's tubbing, until just as I was leaving, when a family of three arrived. My room was noteworthy only for its french doors onto the courtyard, which let in lots of daylight and fountain sounds when wanted. There is an oversized fridge, no microwave--although Arline said one was available on each floor. The bathroom is utilitarian, but all fixtures are well-designed and maintained. Bed, lighting similar. Plenty of space. Clean. Quiet, functioning heat/ac. The location is about equidistant from the beach and downtown, both easy walks. I was without a car here, and had no problems getting around on foot.

Great hotel, great service. The Manager, Michael Reardon couldn't have been nicer. Had a computer related issue and he spent at least 45 minutes helping me out. The rest of his team was also extremely helpful!

Bed bugs in my bed. Reported to clerk. Offered another room which I did not want. I was leaving and wanted a refund. She could not authorize refund that I would need to contact Manager tomorrow. Called the next morning Manager not available, left a detailed message, requested a refund and a call back. No call back. Called again at 4:00 pm did reach Manager. She claimed she knew nothing about bed bugs and had not had time to listen to my voice mail message. Gave me my refund and said maybe housekeeping was aware but she had not had a chance to talk to them. Cannot believe the Manager was not notified immediately of a bed bug infestation.

stayed one night while taking our daughter to visit Westmont College. Beautiful hotel. Clean rooms, great price in a group on deal. Our room came with a great breakfast. Beds were comfortable and lots of pillows. We will be back

We love staying in Carpenteria and this hotel is a highlight of our stay. Carpenteria beach is the BEST! We have stayed at the hotel many times and every time we have been extremely satisfied. The property is immaculate and so beautiful. The garden courtyard is so enjoable and relaxing, we love to just sit on the patio and admire the surroundings. The hotel offers easy access to the beach, shopping and restaurants as well as a easy short drive to Santa Barbara. We will continue to revisit this special property.

This was the worst experience ever, and I travel a ton. They turned the electricity off at night without notice and said it would be off for two hours. I have five kids with me that practically screamed for two straight hours terrified and the front desk guy “Peter” was the rudest and most unprofessional ever. I'll never stay at a Best Western again and you shouldn't either. The most unprofessional and unsafe hotel I've ever stayed at.

Lovely service - nice clean hotel but nothing fancy. It's just a nice cute hotel with great staff and nice small restaurant. I would recommend it for a reasonably priced hotel in a very expensive area.

This was the first stay of our California vacation...at check in we were given an "upgrade" which we found out at 8:30am was right above the construction wing! Nice!! After a 12 hour travel day we were looking forward to a sleep in but no luck there! Thanks for the upgrade. After numerous calls to management who either didn't answer or call me back I finally got through and she defended the room upgrade saying the construction wasn't immediately underneath us..omg seriously.! And were offered a 30% discount! Well it gets better..husband goes to have a shower at 11am and there is no water. Apparently the crew cut the water usage for their construction. Water never did get turned back on...management was absolutely useless...handled the situationa so poorly. The icing on the cake was we got stuck in their elevator only to find out after getting out that front desk and management knew they weren't working right and never even thought to inform us. BRUTAL! Asked for GM to call us and no word yet... 48 hours later. Be cautious about choosing this hotel. We will never again.

The interior courtyard is beautifully landscaped - these are the higher ticket rooms. The less expensive rooms are on the exterior and there is some freeway traffic noise. Also the walls are rather thin - we had someone next to us that ranted for 2 hours straight in the early morning. I liked the location - we had a nice walk to downtown carpinteria for breakfast. I would stay here again - easy access to Montecito & Santa Barbara without as much expense.

Nice hotel, pleasant common areas, room fairly standard. We were in a room at the back of the hotel right on the highway and it was very noisy. Asked to be moved but we're told that wasn't possible, so noise impacted negatively on our stay. Given that, I'd say it is not good value for money. I may have a different opinion if we were in a different room. I didn't realise this hotel was quite a distance from Santa Barbara. All eateries around this area appear to close at 9pm.

The BW Plus Carpinteria Inn looks very nice and the front desk staff was nice too. Parking was limited. The upstairs restaurant opens for breakfast at 7 pm with 3 or 4 meals available to guest. Bring ear plugs because of the freeway noise and potential construction noise inside the hotel.

This hotel is so beautiful and quaint. The restaurant and lounge are convenient, food was decent. The staff was friendly and helpful. This a must stay if in the Carpentaria, Santa Barbara area. You would not be disappointed.

Great accommodations and a great on site restaurant !! The staff was very helpful in both the hotel & restaurant. The décor gives you a sense of quality throughout the property. Guest room was spacious and the bathroom fixtures top quality.

This place was about 20mins drive to Santa Barbara & about 10min walk from Carpinteria beach, eating places. There is on site dining & lounge. Nice friendly staff on check in & nice reception area. Room was not to small & was nice clean. Was given chose room which had a balcony, as there was building work taking place. This work was only during the day. There is plenty parking & a nice tropical garden to sit out in. Good quick check out.

We only stayed here for one night and arrived at dusk and set off on our journey next morning but during our short stay staff were very friendly and room was nice, hotel had a lovely courtyard but we never got chance to explore fully unfortunately

The rooms were very small. It said queen size beds and they were the smallest double beds I've ever been in. The bathroom was awful. It had a giant hole cutout in the ceiling with a fixture hanging, very dated and dirty. No towels or washcloths were in the room either. It was as if they didn't have the staff to clean up. Went to the hotel restaurant and bar and the food was over priced and adequate at best. Thankfully it was just a pass through hotel on our way to San Fran, but 12 hours was more than enough for me.

I called the Best Western Plus Carpenteria Inn and was going to cancel my reservations that I had made and was going to reschedule at a later date. The clerk that answered that phone on 9/1/2018 at 7pm informed me I would need to call Expedia as the reservations had been made through them she informed me. Obviously she saw the reservations. I feel it was very poor customer service to not assist in my needed cancellation. Now I will never stay at this hotel nor would I mention it to any one else as they have such poor customer service and I hadn't even checked in. Then I called Expedia who informed me that the reservations were made through Hotels.com. I called them and was told that they could not find the confirmation number I had been given via email. Not to mention they were answering the call from the Philippines! This morning I called and cancelled my credit card to as not to be charged since the entire ordeal was so questionable!!

This is a great place to stay and explore the beach town of Carpinteria. It is also close enough to stay if you plan to visit Santa Barbara. The hotel is near a major highway, however it is walking distance to the main street (Linden) which can be walked all the way to the shore.

My sister and I were on a trip to Santa Barbara and recently stayed in this Best Western. The room was clean and quiet, and the hotel staff was helpful upon arrival. It was very close to the highway with easy access and when I left something in the room, I called and they accommodated me going back in to retrieve my forgotten item. All in all a decent stay, close to Santa Barbara.

We've stayed here many times and have always had only good things to say... it's clean, the staff are welcoming and it's close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. They also have a restaurant on site.

Terrible customer service!! Was fighting with front desk employees to have our reward points credited back since we had no room for half a day. There was eye rolling & whispering from front desk. Most unfriendly place. Best Western should have credited more then one days worth of rewards points back to us. Can't wait to use the rest of our points & never stay at a Best Western again.

We only stayed here one night on our trip down from San Francisco to Los Angeles. This is a lovely hotel that was quite noisy on the outside (right next to Highway 101), however, we had rooms overlooking the beautiful central courtyard which was really tranquil. Our room included a shared balcony with the adjoining room that our teenage daughters were staying in (might not have been quite so good if sharing with strangers)! There is a small restaurant on the third floor which works perfectly for hotel guests particularly those staying for just one night and the staff were really helpful and nice. Clean, tidy and with in-house laundry facilities - only 3 of the 6 hotels we stayed in on this holiday had this extra facility which we really needed!!!

We wanted to go to Carpinteria for an overnight to celebrate a birthday and there are really only two hotels to choose from so we stayed here. We did not book directly with the hotel & were given an "accessible" room on the first floor. We did not object and the room was clean although there was a slightly "musty" smell. the furniture is about ready for replacement, wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom & it was definitely in need of updating. The bed was comfortable with nice linens, good TV, noisy air conditioner and adequate lighting for reading. We were looking forward to a hot tub but there was none although the pool was the size of one. Not sure I've ever seen a pool that small! We didn't eat at the restaurant so I can't comment, but we did go there for "happy hour" but didn't stay as it didn't appeal to us. The front desk staff were very pleasant & efficient. The location is right off the freeway but our room overlooked the parking lot so we didn't hear a lot of noise. Overall I'd say this hotel is decent but very overpriced.

I stay in hotels in many parts of California, U.S. and the world. I have stayed in this Hotel a few times mainly because it is across from my Aunt's apartment and easy location. But my experience has been similar. Rooms are old, Beds (except a few rooms) are very OLD and uncomfortable. I got back ache the next day in my last visit (hence this review). The sheets were smelly, My wife could not even rest on them. I wish I remembered to take a picture, but there were broken power outlet, the Bathroom door was damaged and looked like a bad paint job, room did not feel clean and there were a few hair in the Tub. NOISE: is a major problem; Rooms are not quite, in fact you can hear next door or above neighbor whenever they flush or walk or talk. And if you are unlucky to end up on the rooms close to the freeway... Good Luck! First floor Ice machine was broken, I had to go to second floor They have a nice spanish style yard. but that is all I can say. Staff are O.K. I did not interact with them much so it would be unfair to comment. These were my observation. And for over $380 a night, I believe this is a bad deal (they are probably cheaper on low season). If you can drive a few miles to the south or north you may find a better hotel or deal. If you have to stay in Carpenteria, for a few dollar more, Holiday Inn may be a better choice. The price of hotels in Carpenteria absolutely makes no sense to me. Maybe it is because of the popularity of the beach and lack of competition!! I doubt I stay at this hotel anymore.

When we arrived, we got given a room downstairs and were a bit shocked about the situation. The room felt moist and not clean at all. There was a stain on the wall from water probably from a previous leak. The coffee maker was on top of the toilet which doesn't seem sanitary at all. Also the door of the bathroom was broken and didn't close. We stayed at many other hotels during our road trip, but this was the worst room we had. After complaining about the door, we got an other room upstairs which was much nicer. It was a normal, clean room and it even had a balcony. The service in the hotel was very friendly, they helped us right away. I don't know if it only was that one room, that wasn't ok or if there are more rooms that are not clean. Some people complained about the noise from the highway. We didn't hear it as we had a room facing the other side.

Best Western Plus ~ Carpinteria Inn front desk staff were very understanding and accommodating. Since my 2nd floor room I had booked for five nights was not ready when I arrived, I was given a 3rd floor room. It was a great bit of luck since it was at the far side (albeit within earshot of the freeway) and opened onto the hallway with a view of the festive inner courtyard. The pool is small, but well-maintained. The breakfast was wholesome. The beach and downtown amenities were both within a reasonable walking distance and public transportation available from right across the street. Very Cali-style.

Left Legoland to stay on the coast. By the advertising, we thought it was a few minutes walk from hotel to beach, but it was a 20 minutes walk to the beach. It is a 5 minute DRIVE to the beach area, which turned out to be fine. The Carpinteria State Beach is a winner. PROS: Hotel clean, staff accommodating, and food is great. Breakfast was included and we had a Taco Tuesday meal, which hit the mark. CONS: Swimming pool ?? very small and spa barely holds 2 people. Don't get a room by the freeway as it is very noisy at night. Yes, I would stay there again if they had a special deal and if I could get a room away from the freeway. The hotel was full.

I stayed at this hotel for a wedding and liked the location. It was about a 20 minute drive from the Santa Barbara airport and just a couple minutes from the Polo grounds. The hotel has a great garden area located in the middle of the property. The only con is that the restaurant has set hours for only breakfast and dinner. Not that big of a deal but worth noting. Also note the pool and hot tub are located in different areas. I would definitely recommend this property for couples, solo travelers, and business trips.

It is a beautiful Hotel in Carpinteria close to Sta Barbara, non expensive but with a great quality Rooms, it has a wonderful garden inside and the rooms around, the restaurant face the garden, for a lovely meal nice beds and clean bathroom.

We were on a college tour with our daughter checking out UCSB, so we were only interested in a place to sleep and be on our way. It served that purpose. The property, the grounds a nice and there is a SB vibe. The room was OK it's more than a bit dated overall and despite any renovations I've read about here. The Bathroom of in good condition and very clean. It seemed to have been what was renovated. Funny thing, the toilet is situated in the little alcove and is off center! More funny than anything. it is a little too close to the wall on one side so..... well you get the idea.

The room looking into the courtyard seems its a better fit if you are sensitive the noise of the freeway. But they are more expensive. My husband and I stayed at the hotel. (June 30) one night. To my disappointment our Mountain View room picked up the noise from the freeway. To make it worse the vent from the bathroom never turned off. I didn't sleep well all night since I'm very sensitive to that kind of sound, the air conditioned is very noisy as well reason why I didn't turned it on. There were buckets of plaster on the hallway. Some rooms have shared balcony but you can't go out. When I mentioned to employee at the counter she said she will let know the maintenance department and there was nothing she can do about it. I was expecting some kind of compensation. She gave me your card for me to take my time to e-mail you. I was under the expectation that they will do something about it. It is not the first time we stay in this hotel. I didn't had any problem on our previous stays.

My stay was not at all a pleasant one. I was given a room on the corner, which was Courtside, but no door to the court. If I opened the curtains, anyone checking in at the front desk could look right into the room. It was like staying in a cave. Since the room was on the first floor and in the corner, the cell phone service was terrible. The Motel 6 North will be worth the money. This was expensive and not worth the money. There is not a continental breakfast as well, but a restaurant in the hotel.

Wive and I stayed mid-week and we were thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Although the pool was a bit of a let down. It is about the size of a postage stamp. The facilities are very nice and it looks like they are in the process of remodelling much of the property. The staff were very helpful and the restaurant and bar offer a great happy hour and a decent breakfast.

I tend to like Best Western Plus hotels as I spend more of my time away from the hotel than in it but when I come back - I'd like it to be clean, fairly quiet and feel like I can get help from the staff if needed. I'm also a big fan of non-vallet ample parking when traveling. The Best Western Plus Carpinteria is all of those things. The rooms are a little dated but they are typically clean and fairly quiet (considering it is right next to the 101 and a freeway exit/entrance).

Service and staff is excellent. The facility is well kept, though a bit aging. But, it has been kept up and very clean. It is a beautiful area and close to lots of restaurants and the ocean! I would recommend it to anyone wanting to stay in a small, but beautiful city.

great and easy location, parking and ease for a busy business stay. Just ask or be aware that some rooms share balconies with neighboring rooms, so if other guests are out there, it may be troublesome with added noise & privacy into your space if you open doors/windows .

No one even tried to accommodate my request of a microwave, much less went out of their way. As a Diamond Select member and someone who stays in Hotels 200+ nights a year, I was told when I called the desk that no microwaves were in the rooms or available. When I went back down to the desk the second girl said she talked to the Manager and that it would be $50.00 more per night for a room with a microwave. Not only do I stay at Best Western and Best Western Plus's often. I have never received less than great service and have always given straight 10's across the board on the surveys.

On our recent trip to The USA, we stopped at Best Western where ever we went. This particular Best Western is an exception . From the time you drive in you fell welcome and relaxed. We were on level three but wished we were on the ground level, simply because the courtyard garden area was a sight. So relaxing. We looked out onto it every meal time. The staff are friendly and polite. The service is spot on. The rooms are very comfortable, as we're the beds. If we were to travel that way again, we would definitely make it a point to stay here. We could not speak highly enough of it.

I liked the location and cost but hotel is being remodeled and a lot of noice. Close to the beach and we eat at a good restruarant. we were there for a family weekend. We had a service dog and they accepted pets.

We let the hotel know we would be arriving later in the evening and received likely the worst room in the hotel as a result. The large carpet stain in the middle of the room and peeling wallpaper was unsightly, but the worst part was that the only thing separating our room from the busy freeway was a few parked cars and a large trash dumpster. The noise level in room 230 is completely unacceptable and it never should should have been given to a paying guest. I immediately called the desk to request a different room but was told they were booked. We spent a sleepless night there and was changed to a beautiful, quiet room for our second night. It was like being in a different hotel, such a difference. Thank you for our beautiful room on Saturday night, but shame on you for actually putting a paying guest in room 230. Wish I could have given you a better review.

5 stars, thanks to Ana the manager, BUT the staff didn't know what the "do not disturb" hanger on the door meant. The cleaning lady opened the door at about 11:00, then busted in again at 2:00pm. It's a good thing wife and i were just cuddling, and not "cuddling". I loved the hotel grounds. Fitness room was great. Towels felt old, and the bathroom smelt like B.O. the restaurant was nice, and the bar felt like a real bar with sports on and everything.

What a great place. Beds are comfy. Staff is friendly. Pool and jacuzzi just right. Staff is super friendly. Rates vary and can be somewhat high but during the week it's a plus :) Just the right fit with business center and lots of amenities. Really impressed as they just recently remodeled.

Average chain hotel located conveniently near a freeway off-ramp so it should be impossible to get lost. The hotel looks very inviting with its Spanish architecture and pretty landscaping, but while the public spaces have been updated, our room seemed tired. But, the bedding was comfortable, our room was clean and quiet, and the staff were great. We were warned when we checked in that construction work would be going on near our room the following morning, but luckily, the crew waited until 11:30 to get started that Sunday. Our second-floor room had a balcony that adjoined all the other rooms along that side of the building, and didn't seem very secure. There was no window other than the narrow balcony door, so it was impossible to get any fresh air without leaving the balcony door open. This hotel has the tiniest hot tub I have ever seen. This had been a draw for us, so we were very disappointed to find that the 3-person maximum meant that we had to wait 15 minutes to get in, and then could only stay a short while because by that time, two other families were lined up waiting, and this was at 9 in the evening. The hotel should put up signage regarding drinking alcohol in the hot tub, because several of the guests did not seem to be aware that this is a safety issue.

Great clean comfortable rooms. Nice little pool & Spa. I stay here often & always a nice experience. located just a couple blocks away from the beach & the restaurants. Nice hotel for business or personal travel. Good for kids.

I have a job going on at the Santana Barbara Airport at night , and choose to stay in Carpentiera Best Western. Have not had 1 issue with being able to sleep during the day , I talked to Anna and asked if we could get rooms away from the front which is normally the loudest during the day. She took care of my crew and can not complain. Work or play definitely the place to stay in Carpentiera and Santana Barbara area.

The hotel was beautiful, except for the construction going on in the floor we were staying at made the room smell like fresh paint... The rollaway bed we asked for couldn't be more uncomfortable, so much so that we ended up sleeping on the floor (NEVER ask for one, its unfair to the person sleeping in it!

This is probably one of the nicest best western properties in the united states! The old world spanish decor fused with modern styling, and the location close to everything canot be beat.The rooms are spacious and nice, with some rooms having balconies to enjoy the morning or evening.

I've traveled for many years, all over the world, and never been blatantly lied to by front desk staff as I was here. I've also never come close to having to call the police about actions take by the hotel itself. I have reported this to Best Western and here is the content of my complaint. Read on if interested but save yourself time and grief by simply not staying here. I'd already asked for a room change because of noise. My second room faced the interior courtyard, which was quieter from a street/freeway noise perspective, but I subsequently found out the room directly above me was under construction. I received a letter upon check-in stating, “Daily bathroom renovation will start on Sunday, February 18th and will run through March 6th, and will be between 9:00am – 5:00pm.” Since I was going to be working during the day I decided this wouldn't impact me. However, when I returned to the room at 5:30 Monday evening the construction was still ongoing; I could hear impact drivers, banging, squealing, scraping—typical construction sounds. I called the front desk and was informed, “They got permission from our manager to go until six.” I went out to dinner. Returning later in the evening, I thought I could still hear some noise and spoke to the front desk again. This time, the woman at the front desk said she'd “call the people in the room next door and tell them to keep it down.” At ten pm, the noise was continuing, sounded like construction (drills, impact drivers, etc. as noted above), and was clearly coming from above me, not the people next door. I changed back out of my pajamas and walked upstairs where I saw individuals engaged in construction activities including sanding drywall. I went down to the front desk, quite angry at this point. I said that if it didn't stop I'd call the police. This was in clear violation of local noise ordinances in addition to human decency. Plus, they'd lied to my face earlier on multiple occasions. In addition you should know that the hotel left back and side doors open and/or unlocked all night, not secure at all. I ate one dinner in the restaurant and that was terrible as well. A "steak sandwich" was unrecognizable, gristly strips of "meat" in a greasy, thick sauce. Yuck. I was clearly, blatantly lied to several times and checked out the next morning.

The hotel is a nice, clean one with a good restaurant upstairs on the second floor. I arranged for a late checkout on the date of my departure. The pool is miniscule and the so is the jacuzzi. The late checkout was approved by the front desk staff upon my call to the desk from the phone in the room. However, on the departure date at the regular check out time, I heard a few loud bangs on my hotel room door. I did not answer, as I was not expecting anyone. A few minutes later, I heard someone trying to forcibly enter the room with a key. I had to get up from working on my laptop to meet them at the door. I was puzzled and offended when a male staff member, accompanied by a woman questioned why I was still in the room. I assured them that I had arranged for a late checkout and would be leaving as soon as my work was done. Without apology they both left and I closed the door to resume my work until the proper extended checkout time. Very unprofessional. Very rude of the staff. At checkout I mentioned to the front desk manager that I didn't feel it was necessary. Still, no apology. Just a sad and sorry excuse. I won't be staying here again. I can do much better.

This was a quick overnight for a sporting event so we did not enjoy much time here. It was quaint with the rooms overlooking a quaint courtyard. The rooms themselves were somewhat average and, while clean and well-maintained, are somewhat dark and due for an upgrade. However, our stay was satisfactory and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient. Given the price we paid for one-night in the off-season, value could have been better.

We stayed here last week and were underwhelmed. We booked a Groupon stay and got a very good rate, but I am still not sure if it was worth it. Our stay included breakfast for two each morning in the restaurant, but with a limited menu of items from which to choose. The breakfast items were good, as was the service. I should also note that if you book through Groupon, your room choice is limited as well. Our room was next to the staircase that leads from the parking lot and pool. Though I had asked for a quiet location, this wasn't really quiet as people use that staircase frequently so the door is always opening and closing. It is important to note that no room key is required to open that particular door so security is an issue. When we were walking into the lobby upon our return from dinner there was a homeless woman with her sleeping bag demanding to use the swimming pool (the front desk staff did not allow this, of course). Another issue is the state of the rooms themselves. When we first arrived in our room BOTH of the lamp lightbulbs on either side of the bed were burned out. The room is dark to begin with, so this made it worse while we waited for replacement bulbs. The edge of the shower showed quite a bit of rust, as did the bathroom vent. The desk lampshade was stained in several places, and their were french fries under the bed that were not ours. There was white residue on the desk from the previous occupants that could have been easily cleaned prior to our arrival but was not. It rained during the night both nights we were there and the rain dropping off the roof landed on the outside of the air conditioning unit for our room, which sounded like water torture. While the lobby and courtyard areas are well maintained, I would probably refrain from staying here again and opt for somewhere where the rooms are better looked after.

Lovely hotel. Clean. Really comfortable beds. Just beside highway 101, but quiet...didn't hear traffic at all during the night. Sly's restaurant was recommended for seafood, steak etc. Very pricy. Should have suggested less expensive eatery given that we were 3 women dressed quite casually.

Check in a breeze, front desk super helpful and accommodating, parking around building and enough for everyone. Room not large but has two beds and beds are very comfortable, room has a desk and good wifi, large screen TV. Bathroom clean and a bit tight but ok. Room clean and bright enough when drapes are open. All in all I recommend the hotel. Restaurants are in walking distance from hotel, Albertsons is about a mile, I had no trouble walking.

Staff are wonderful, friendly, and attentive, lobby and courtyard are beautiful, and rooms are basic, clean, and in need of a facelift. Our bathroom was missing one tile and the vanity light was burned out, not replaced during the trip. Overall, our experience was positive and I'd stay here again.

It happens everywhere that you might encounter problems... Front desk can't help you to solve a problem and they suggest to talk to manager ..... who is not there.... not on duty .... will be back in 15 minutes... what a service What a policy....

We got evacuated to the Best Western from Pacifica Graduate Institute during the recent mudslide and they took such good care of us. The staff made great efforts to come to work and everyone pitched in. Despite their personal hardships we were made to feel safe and comfortable.

Came for one night and the great staff and great looking hotel made me wish I could stay longer. Hot water in the shower didn't last very long though. It took quite a while to get it warm only for it to suddenly disappear.

Best western has had the personal rating out of the other hotels that I have stayed at, with that being said I recommend this hotel to anyone who just needs one night to relax. I also like the rewards system it has.

My family reserved several rooms in Carpinteria, California. The staff was exceptional, especially during the Santa Barbara/Ventura fire. We were fortunate to have firefighters staying at the hotel and we got to thank them for their dedication. The rooms were comfy, the restaurant was excellent and our visit was pleasant.

The Inn was inviting and warm. The front desk had an ever present smile and welcomed me in. The rooms were spacious and had a wonderful balcony overlooking the courtyard. The spiral staircase was a nice touch and pleasant way to get to my room and the lounge.

The staff is friendly. I thought it will be noisy because of the highway, but it wasn't an issue at all. I'd suggest you pick a room that's not on the highway side of the hotel, though. The courtyard is beautiful. The beach is about 10 minutes walk.

My friends and I are long distance cyclists who go to California to ride double centuries(two hundred miles in one day). We like to find hotels that have everything we need either on the premises or nearby. We enjoyed the hotel but we couldn't believe the quality of the food at the 3rd floor restaurant and bar. The food was outstanding and the prices were very reasonable. We were there for three nights and ate every dinner there! Everything was delicious. The wait staff were attentive and very personable. We've decided we will always stay here when we do any events in the area.

This hotel blew us away - expected a mid-range, average stay and everything was perfect from the friendliness of the check-in staff to the comfy beds and beautiful courtyard. This is one of the best Best Western's I have ever stayed at - stay here for sure!

Breakfast was good in the hotel and the service was excellent. Didn't try any other meal service. Our room was clean, pleasant .Courtyard was a good place for other family members to wait for us to join them. Courtyard room has balcony with chairs.Free delicious apples and iced water dispenser in the lobby. Check the room prices close to arrival date. Prices change often and they might be lower than your original reservation. They lowered our price when I checked on line and found it less expensive the day before we were to arrive.

Very Beautiful and clean hotel. Room I had was a little small BUT I am fine with that as long as it is clean and the room was VERY CLEAN and we had a beautiful view of the courtyard. Hotel is only a 5 minute drive from the beach and just a couple minutes to downtown area/restaurants. We walked to downtown area one evening and it was nice 15 min. walk and the area felt safe and nice.

We have used Best Western Plus hotels on several holidays in the USA. This one was smaller than others we have stayed in but it was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was on the ground floor at the front of the hotel so we did not experience any noise from the highway. We ate in the restaurant, Sunset Grill on one occasion which proved to be a real disappointment. I was given the wrong meal and after some discussion it was removed and a short time later the correct meal arrived. It was inedible, the potatoes were cold, the vegetables were undercooked and cold, the chicken was barely warm. I mentioned to the server that the meal was inedible but there was no response so we paid and left!!

This little Best Western was a hidden gem. A great surprise. It's clean and seems newly renovated. The front desk was so helpful. The location is close to the Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are. They even have an on-site grill. The price is extremely affordable so we were expecting to get what we paid for but It was beyond expectations.

I have been a member of the Best Western loyalty program for decades and generally I am positive about the accommodations. But not this time. We booked a week here for October 2017, a quiet week, well ahead of time. The booking was made through my profile at the Best Western website, so it was a regular price and not through a second tier agency. When we arrived they had only one room for us. A small room right next to the pool. We asked if we could move and were told it wasn't possible today, but maybe tomorrow. But the news was the same the next day. Further more, the room did not get serviced. Probably because it is so small, hidden from view in the hallway. They did, with some complaint, service the room before we went out for dinner, but it was grudgingly done. I wouldn't stay here again. Try somewhere else.

Cute hotel in Carpinteria just off the freeway. Beautiful and inviting courtyard. On site restaurant with decent food and friendly servers. Rooms are outdated, but clean. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but room was large with a shared balcony. The staff is very friendly and professional. I was given a room across from the elevator and near stairs and wanted to change and they were very accommodating. Small pool and hot tub. On site parking. Hotel is near freeway but the noise isn't too bad.

Carpenteria is not exactly a tourist stop, so we were impressed with the beautiful building and room. The on site restaurant made for a real breakfast rather then the package items of other hotels. We have friends in Carpenteria and will definitely stay here again.

This hotel is convenient for our business, so we've stayed there a couple of times. Last stay was marred by HORRIBLE electrical problems. Phones didn't charge overnight, after working fine when first plugged in. Refrigerator needed maintenance to get working, and then it froze everything for 2 days with constant adjustments. Ice machine is in the central courtyard and not convenient for anyone on the first floor, it seems. Oh, and avoid the in-hotel restaurant on the 3rd floor. It may seem convenient, but it's average bar food AT BEST.

Convenient, clean and little noise, (i e traffic and room above) The front desk was efficient and friendly. The bar/lounge had excellent food. The bar tender was a bit indifferent though, she could of been a little more attentive.

Nothing really memorable about this hotel. Just decent, clean, and nice staff, good food and easy location. If you are looking to get through the night you'll like it and the lobby is updated and good coffee in the am complimentary until 7am...thats my only real complaint..why take the lobby coffee bar and start charging for a fresh cup at 7?? Just keep it in the lobby for guests wondering from their rooms.

The service was very nice. The room was nice and clean. The check out was fast. The overall location is in a nice area. Th hotel is very clean and beautiful. The trees on the property is nice. I had a great experience.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights and had a great time. The courtyard looks like an oasis and puts you in a relaxed mood right away. The hotel is close enough to Santa Barbara's main attractions if you don't mind a short car ride. Same goes for the beach. It's a great alternative to overpriced hotels in the region. The rooms offer all the comfort you would expect. We had a great time here and we strongly recommend this hotel!

It's a sad story to tell, but someone has got to tell it.... so here goes: It all began with hopes of a lovely outside property. A beautiful white building with dark brown wood balconies and almost an European feel. The lobby is lovely with a spiral staircase up to the second floor. But this my friends is the cover and we all know one cannot judge by that. Our room bestowed upon us did not have the common balcony. Additionally, it came with an odor we could not describe. It might have been from the fact that this is a handicap room (we did not request) and someone was not as clean as... well you know what I mean. Nothing ever felt truly clean. Well as some of you know, I do frequent the gym. To my initial surprise, their were no Clorox wipes or alcohol rub. Both were out. To top that off the water cooler provided was not functioning. And to Top that off, Frank Sinatra and Doris Day were serenading me to sleep form the tunes on the speaker. What??? Luckily the equipment worked just fine. But the real SHOCKER came when I went to grab me a towel and mouse poop: Yes you read me right... MOUSE POOP fell out from the middle. Yikes!!! I did find a towel that lacked this treasure. After my workout, I went to inform the front desk that they might have mice. The assistant manager told me: Well I don't see how that's possible when there is no door to the outside. I told him that there was a door and w/o weather stripping on it. He just looked at me puzzled. I returned to the room to get ready to shower. Now guess what my partner and I found in the sheets??? More mouse dung. Omg!!! I wasn't sure if it fell off of me or was there all along. Still my partner found more in her bath towel. Sure enough, the laundry is situated near the parking lot doors which the staff leaves open. My partner went to the front desk to discuss the health hazards of poop in our towels. The assistant manager offered to have our sheets cleaned in our room. BUT no apology to her. He later apologized to me. He asked if we wanted to check out. Since we had only one night left, we said no. But what a surprise, no offer of compensation. Cray cray. Sleeping with mice and drying off where they hung out???? I'm like, not exactly on my agenda. When we went to check out today, a different manager said they checked the towels and said it wasn't poop at all, rather "strings" from other laundry items. NOT!!! I'll post some pics and my partner grew up between a ranch and a farm. She knows. What we don't get is the attitude and denial. That's the part that's upsetting. Don't come unless your okay with it all. Others posted here about the roaches. Mice? Roaches? Omg!!!! Sleeping with these devils. Ugh.

Carpinteria is our favorite beach so we appreciate having this very nice hotel when we stay here. We can shop in Carpinteria, walk on the beach, play in the water, and even drive in to Santa Barbara for a movie and more shopping.

Avoid this hotel !! When you have to find a drug store for nasal spray in order to sleep you shouldn't stay there !!!! Cob webs hanging off plants ! Serious mold/mildew problem ! Staff offered to clean room and/or change room but after checking out 5 other rooms the front desk clerk admitted she's had other complaints ! Needed to be in the area but left early cause it was too much !!!

Staff and general upkeep were good. Got a good night's sleep. However, for the cost I would expect more updates and maintenance, particularly in the bathroom. Ours was very outdated and had missing tile.

You will be amazed at the beautiful courtyard setting at the hotel. The fountain and Spanish courtyard provide a very relaxing setting to experience. The entire staff are friendly and helpful & the restaurant serves delicious food. It is the perfect place to unwind.

Wasn't able to obtain a Best Western reservation in San Barbara for 1 night as we passed through to LA. Fortunately, one hotel recommended Carpinteria and the Best Western Plus. One reviewer, thought it was over priced for being right off the highway...the whole quaint town is right off the highway. The hotel was a great location. Very convenient to walk downtown, people watch, grab some tacos and follow with a scoop of ice cream! Reasonable Friday night rates. Being platinum members, we were upgraded to king suite and given the welcome bag and 500 extra points. Room large and clean, bathroom was a little dark and dated in comparison to the rest of the tastefully decorated cathedral ceiling suite but clean. Only staying one night but well worth the stop. One minor thing, no continental breakfast as we've become accustomed to at BW but looking forward to a walk on the beach with a pastry and coffee in the morning! Not a a bad start to the day, right!

On October 4, 2017 I was a guest at the Best Western in Carpinteria when a fire began. Firstly, the fire alarm, which sounded more like a doorbell than a fire alarm, sounded in the hotel for approximately one minute before turning off. Due to the extreme brevity of the alarm, I did not realize that there was an emergency in the building. It was only after looking out of my hotel room door, which was only a few doors down from the fire, did I realize that a fire had started due to the smoke that was billowing from the area. Secondly, I was not told to evacuate the building for some time. I called the front desk to ask if I should evacuate. It was not until approximately ten minutes after the alarm bell rang that someone came to my door and told me to leave the building. Upon arriving in the parking lot, there was no manager to assist guests. In fact, only a group of cleaning staff was outside of the building. I eventually left the parking lot but only after approaching a fire representative and asking if it was possible to drive past the fire truck that was blocking the hotel's only entrance. The next day I walked past the kitchen, where the fire supposedly started, and observed employees preparing food there. I was not offered a reduction of my bill or any other settlement from the management of the hotel even though I lost use of my hotel room and was severely inconvenienced. Upon checking out, the woman at the front desk asked how my stay had been. I responded that there had been a fire to which she shrugged and said that it couldn't be helped. This response was unacceptable as was the entire ordeal.

This place looked grand upon entry but the room was a let down. It was dirty under the bathroom vanity (massive hairballs caught up under the pipework) and in the shower/bath but the biggest let down was the additiinal rollaway we requested. The mattress felt literally like a slab of springs covered by a piece of thin fabric. IF there was any foam or padding between the fabric and the mattress structure, it was obviously ridiculously disintegrated. No other rooms available so we sent it back and had 3 of us sleep in the same bed. Missing artwork from the wall as per photo. Restaurant was good food though.

Cute little surprise in Carpinteria! My husband and I decided to take a last minute jaunt to Santa Barbara which is only an an hour and half away from our home. Literally that same afternoon booked this hotel in Carpinteria within hours of leaving. It's only 9 miles south of Santa Barbara and just off the freeway. We only booked one night because it was just an overnight getaway. The hotel is right off the freeway so very convenient. It's an old mission style building with white stucco and dark brown wood exterior which lends to the total ambiance of the hotel. There is an inner courtyard surrounded by 3 stories of dark brown wooden balconies and red umbrellas on the first floor. Most rooms shared their balcony with another room but it is large enough to give you a sense of privacy. Our room faced the courtyard with a king sized bed. It was a very simple and clean room but also had that same mission style feel with slanted wood beam ceilings. It had a very nice size mini fridge and tv. Our 3rd floor room was also on the same floor as the lounge restaurant which was also well appointed with white leather chairs and bar. We took advantage of their nightly happy hour and for drinks but not food - although the menu looked good and so did the food other customers were ordering. We opted to have a dinner at a restaurant half a mile away near Linden Street which is the street into the state park beach lined with stores and restaurants. We decided to walk the half mile to the restaurant. This was also a nice feature of the hotel being in close proximity to the beach and main drag in Carpinteria which is a quaint little beach town. We ate at the Nugget which was a disappointment due to the poor service and lackluster food. The one in Santa Barbara may be better. After dinner we went into the Palms Restaurant for a nightcap. I had a crab cocktail too which turned out to be great! Unusual restaurant where you grill your meat at a center community grill. Have to try it next time. Palms was a local hang out since there were young and old patrons alike. We walked the Carpinteria beach the next morning before getting breakfast at the Summerland Beach House restaurant which was incredible. We checked out of the hotel and headed to Santa Barbara. We wished we stayed and longer and will definitely come back. This hotel had a great overall atmosphere and location. Highly recommend it to anyone for a weekend beach retreat!

This is a very cute Spanish style hotel with lots of character and a very lovely courtyard with a water fountain. Easy access on/off the freeway. We stayed one Thursday night during a family reunion. Staff let us check in a little bit early. The King bed room was very nice - on the small side, but well designed and equipped. Bathroom lighting was bright, shower pressure good with Pantene shampoo/conditioners and generous counter space. Coffeemaker was in the bathroom. The mini fridge was a good size and cooled quickly. Reading lamps bright. Bed a bit soft for my taste, but I slept well. Several outlets in bedside lamps and on desk. A/C cooled adequately and wasn't too loud. We had an end room facing the street. It was fairly quiet except for the sound of the occasional train whistle. We were able to enjoy some quiet family time with a bottle of wine on one of the public balcony tables. We enjoyed a very decent breakfast in the coffee shop early the next morning prior to checking out. I would recommend this hotel and would definitely return here on future visits to Santa Barbara. Much more affordable than in Santa Barbara proper.

Very nice, clean, probably the best in Carpenteria. Needed a place for an event in town. It was comfortable and feel good. Great little restrarant bar upstairs also. The website was misleading and gave us a “garden room” with no patio, but all other garden rooms had a patio, so they did change our rate after a bit of protest.

I can't say enough good things about this attractive hotel and its staff. The hotel is right off a freeway exit for Carpinteria, but the water fountains in the inner courtyard mask any noise from those rooms facing that lovely space. Our double-queen room was spacious and tastefully decorated and included a small lanai with two chairs and a table overlooking the courtyard. . Food and atmosphere in the dining room were wonderful. We spent five unplanned days here due to an unforeseen medical situation, and everything exceeded our expectations. This is the nicest Best Western we have stayed in, and we've been to many. We highly recommend this Carpinteria jewel.

A nice place but hwy 101 noise on third floor. Staff is friendly but no complimentary breakfast like Goleta! This is a very expensive hotel for what you get especially when you have to stay 3 night minimum before you can use your BW membership points...

We stayed here along with many of our extended family and friends over the weekend leading up to our wedding. The rooms were simple and clean, and the hotel staff was very nice. There is no complimentary breakfast, but the restaurant was serviceable. Our favorite feature of the hotel was the garden courtyard. We all hung out there together often and it was very comfortable. The location is walking distance or a short drive away from all the good stuff in Carpinteria, and is a good home base if you're heading up to Santa Barbara.

this is an excellent hotel. a group of us stayed in rooms and were very comfortable. the only flaw is a lack of signs to find the whirlpool spa. It is accessible only from the parking lot on the side of the building, not next to the pool. It is located approx. 1/2 mile from the main street (Linden).

The Best Western in Carpinteria is a good spot for an overnight stop on the way up the coast. The accommodation was a lot more affordable than Santa Barbara which is just 15 minutes up the road. The hotel itself is dated but clean and comfortable.

The exterior of this hotel is unarguably beautiful, as well as the lobby, foliage and landscaping. But the rooms and bathrooms I was greatly disappointed to find far from the same. I was very uncomfortable with the cleanliness of my bedsheets and the very outdated counters, showers, and floors of the bathrooom. To me, it felt like 2-star hotel quality and I thought I was paying for 3-star. The experience of my trip took a toll, as well as my sleep. I won't be revisiting this hotel unless they update their rooms and service standards. For this, I give them a poor rating.

Guest service at this hotel is the worst. General Manager was never available and the managers were rude and were no help at all. I had mold in my room and housekeeping manager was saying to his staff how demanding I was and what a jerk in Spanish. My wife and I had dinner at the sunset grille and food was terrible. The manager was no help and we could not understand what she was saying. She tried to speak English but it was obvious she could not communicate with us. Finally the bartender Erika came over and took care of everything. Not sure why she is the manager and not Erika.

We visited Carpenteria for the first time this past weekend for a family wedding. The staff at this location were friendly and helpful. The hotel was well maintained with beautiful flowers all over the grounds. The restaurant on-site offered delicious breakfast and dinner. The servers were attentive and nice.

for $135/ per night I expected a clean bathroom. Other than that the property was functional. I still dont understand rooms with patios or balconies that don't allow smoking''. People were nice and the location is good. Not many choices in the area

The hotel is beautifully landscaped but that does not fullfil all needs at a hotel. The staff was not helpful. They did not go out of their way to be helpful. The person at checkout claimed he did not have the code to apply a travel card. We had to return to hotel to hotel later in the day get a final bill. This location does not provide breakfast. First time at a bw where breakfast was not provided. Definitely reduced.

I stay here regularly for grad school sessions. The staff are always very friendly. The rooms and hotel overall are always very clean. Courtyard view rooms are beautiful. I take advantage of all amenities: lounge/restaurant, fitness, business center, jazuzzi, and pool. Location is a more mellow part of Santa Barbara. Walking distance to the beach with a few restaurants and shops along the way. There's a Farmers market Thursdays during the summer nearby.

Hotel was very nice and clean, and the service was very good. The location was good. I thought the price was very high for a Best Western Hotel but kept it since I thought it included breakfast. However, it did not.

We stayed for 1 night of Labor Day weekend. Room was fine. Only drawback was the noise from the onramp and highway next to the hotel. Ac fan blocked some of noise & husband slept fine; I was up & down with the noise. I'd stay again, but only if I could get an inside, courtside room. We didn't try the restaurant (brft & dinner only), but menu looked good.

I enjoyed my stay. It was just for the night but the room was very clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable. The air conditioning had a fan that I could run 24/7. This is hard to find but helpful for ppl that normally sleep with a fan. There was also a courtyard that was super cute with a fountain. My only complaint was that there was a strange smell in the hallways.

We booked five rooms and the rate for two of the rooms was $20 per night more expensive and the Manager Daisy Velasco would not correct the discrepancy so our team will stay elsewhere for upcoming trips to the area.

This motel tries to give the appearance of being upscale but it doesn't cut it. There are too many disfigured (run down) in appearance and dysfunctioning aspects, appliances, the safe, the lights that are motion sensored which keep shutting off when you are trying to get work done, etc. The restaurant food is good and the service has greatly improved in the last year. I have to stay here due to proximity of my trips, but not my first choice.

They have a really nice Courtyard , Unfortunately all the tables and seats are only for the Court yard rooms.. The rooms really need some sprucing up, It was clean and I suppose that's what matters however for the money you would expect more, the room was the smallest I think I have ever stayed in, the bathroom was ridiculously small with cracked floor tiles and the look of needing a serious amount of work. The room was extremely noisy, between the Freeway, Santa Yanez Blvd and the employees power washing different things in the parking lot kind of trashed the idea of sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine and enjoying some peace and quiet. Carpentaria is a nice place to visit, but I think you can do better in finding a place to stay..

In a beautiful ocean side city there's Carpinteria, California where the beautiful Best Western Plus sits. If one is just passing by or needing a place to enjoy with the family this is your place. This property is very well taken care of from it's immaculate interior and exterior along with their professional staff. I highly recommend this Best Western.

Finally found my notes from our February 2017 stay and from recent reviews seems not much has changed. We asked for a quiet room and our room was on the first floor near the pool and spa, which was quiet unless someone was using them. There was poor soundproofing between the floors and someone walking across the room upstairs was even disturbing, not to mention the party that jumped and thudded until 2 am. Our room was outdated but was told the bathrooms were being redone this year. When we checked in, the clerk mentioned that there was a restaurant on the third floor, but didn't mention the bar, which was nice since it was a rainy weekend and we didn't want to go out. Service for breakfast was very slow--took 20 minutes to be served lukewarm eggs and there was only one other couple in the restaurant. The next day service was better. It's pricey for the convenience--$35 for two breakfast orders and coffee. As others have mentioned the lobby and the courtyard are very nice, and our room was larger than expected. When I checked out, all the nights were different rates, and one was much higher than expected. When you reserve ask for an e-mail confirming each day's rate, not just a summary.

We stayed there for 3 nights and were not really impressed by the service. The appliances were mostly either very old or were not functioning properly. The coffee machine requires special instructions to get started, the AC was malfunctioning, TV remote control was not working. We ordered ICE in our room and they forget for 45 minutes. Server is definitely not good and they are not willing to make their customers happy.

Upon arrival, I was told that I had been upgraded to a suite. I was happy about that but when I saw the room I was in disbelief of how nice the room they upgraded me to was. It was like a one bedroom apartment or time share. The bed was so comfortable I overslept but I was very rested and happy when I arose. You people made me one happy camper. Thank you.

Family of 5 stayed in a suite one night. We were not very happy with our stay. There were grease on the counter in the kitchen, and the matresses on the sofa bed and on the roll out bed were really terrible! You could feel the matress springs with your hands. Image how it was to sleep on them. You really should try to lay on them yourselves so you know what you offer your customers :( Actually I want my money back. The room was next to the laundry room, so it felt like we had been put in the basement. Not a good feeling. We had dinner in the restaurant, and it was ok. We understand why we were almost alone. But the waitress did her best to help us out, so that was the best part of the stay. Parking and wifi is free.

A quality 3 star family hotel, great for a short stay with kids. Excellent proximity to Santa Barbara, great value, lovely rooms with a balcony, great central gardens, pool is small but functional for kids.We stayed two nights, having a restaurant on site in very useful, breakfast was great dinner was good. Wine and beer available.

Had a few days to play, not far from home, with my bike, book, knitting, sew, and room to play, explore and what the beach. Carpinteria, CA is a delightful place. The people are so nice, so real and down to earth, there are many restaurants to pick from and excellent cuisine. People, family, children, pet friendly no less. And a Farmer's Market on Thursday afternoons, summer family movies under the stars Thurs. nites, concerts at the gallery on Linden, the 3rd Friday of the month. The beach is comfortable, safe, easy, beautiful at dusk, great bogey boarding and so many colorful people on the beach, took me back to childhood, in Huntington Beach, CA. We had a marvelously sweet time and will return. The Best Western staff were excellent, my room big, clean, comfy and spacious. The setting is quite visualizing pleasing and with lovely courtyard.

Had 2 rooms for 4 nights. Stayed there while some other family members camped at the beach and more were in a beach front condo. Decided to jump in on the fun a little to late to book anything closer to the beach. It's not far from the beach, but parking can be difficult near the beach in the summer. We were happy to have second floor rooms with a balcony. The fresh air was great and the extra sitting space was nice for the kids. A cousin had a first floor room, next to the laundry, and complained about the noise and how there was no outside access. The pool is SMALL and the hot tub SMALLER (3 person capacity). We thought a nice hot tub after the beach would be fun, but it was just so small and the jets didn't work, so we only used it one night. The restaurant was tasty, but kind of pricey too. There are a lot of places to eat though. We walked to a tasty Mexican restaurant down the street, Delgado's. There are also tons of places for food on the main drag, Linden, leading down to the ocean. The shower in one of the rooms was almost impossible to turn on. My mom, who has arthritis in her hand, couldn't do it. I thought I was going to pull the thing out of the wall, but it eventually turned on. It's conveniently located for a beach hotel. It's in an attractive old Spanish style with a lovely courtyard in the center. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would stay there again if going to Carpinteria, but definitely make sure to get a room with a balcony.

The bed was so uncomfortable with heavy bedding, and stiff pillows that we had a hard night of sleep. Did not offer breakfast buffet but the restaurant food on the third floor was good, well priced with excellent service.

The rooms located in the back are right next to the highway and it's really loud. Not even the noisy AC helped and we spent 3 sleepless night. Otherwise it is a nice hotel with great staff and close to the beach.

The room was dirty, there was a strange dampness in the air, and the tub did not drain. The room was dark and had cracks in the plaster. Additionally, the wifi was abysmal. We did not report these conditions because we were only there for one night and spent most of the time out of the room. However, I would not stay there again. On the positive side, the staff was friendly and welcoming when we arrived and friendly when we checked out. They were accommodating and allowed us to check in early (which was helpful as we were coming from out of town and wanted to shower and rest before we went out to meet the rest of our group). My only negative comment about the service was that they took a very long time to respond to our request for additional towels in the room.

The Best Western Plus Hotel in Carpinteria, CA is excellent. This hotel has excellent amenities: Pool, Restaurant, Beautiful and Relaxing Courtyard, Fluffy white towels, soft sheets, impeccable rooms, and excellent customer service. A truly comfortable and pleasing stay ... you won't be disappointed!

Clean functional rooms, comfortable bed which is the most important thing. Unfortunately our room was next to the freeway and so was very noisy-they couldn't move us. Good location for the town and beach. Swimming pool very small. Breakfast was not good - orange juice should never have foam on it!!!

Great Value for the area, friendly staff, close to beach and convenient to other locations. My son was attending a baseball camp at nearby Westmont College. If he is fortunate enough to attend school there we will be staying at this location in the future.

Slept good. Had expected breakfast. I also lost my wallet in the room and they mailed it back to me. Nice people. Beach Town. Nothing to complain about. Surfing in this town is below average. It is better than going to Santa Barbara

Property was clean, close to restaurants and store (restaurant/ bar on the property, staff very friendly. Only complaint would be the tiny pool, but the beach is less than 5 minutes away so not really much need for it. The double bed room was comfortable enough for 2 adults and 2 children. I would definitely stay again.

I didn't have a huge expectation of a Best Western but the outside of the property was pretty nice and we figured it couldn't be that bad considering what we paid for it. The room was pretty straight forward; no frills or thrills. The bathroom was awful. The tile on the floor was coming up. The water went from hot to cold to hot randomly. There was no fan so if you took a shower that was slightly warm it fogged the whole bathroom up. The beds were ok. The A/C worked well. I probably wouldn't stay here again but to each their own.

The hotel is close to the beaches. It's near the freeway, but we heard no traffic noise. The Spanish style décor is well done. The courtyard rooms are pretty and quiet. The pool and spa could be bigger, but you're there for the beach.

I have visited this hotel before and it always works well when traveling to the area on business or for personal time off in the area. Carpinteria is a nice slow lifestyle and great place to visit. Love the courtyard area at this location to sit and relax. Enjoy breakfast in the restaurant or a cool beverage after hours.

Very pleased with the overall appearance of the property and the friendliness of the staff. The location was easy to reach despite the area. I would definitely staff again and I would also recommend to my family and friends travelling to the area.

It was all fun and games when we got here. I did advance perchance so was told I will be charged only $50 on my credit card for any damage. Ok good so far right. Day 2 of our stay I checked my bank and what do I see? A 180 and 230 pending charge from the best western. But why? There was only going to be that $50. So I called down to the front desk and the girl who helped me was so nice, she was new so she would have to ask the manager. The manager that was on shift NEVER got on the phone to help they just had this poor girl run back and forth confused like me. My husband ended up going down there to talk to him and come to find out the advance perchance is just som bs game they play. They didn't take the money out when we reserved the room, I guess I'll just not assume that advance perchance means that ur purchasing ur room in advance. ANYWAY that was the big one but there was also dirty halls and the bathroom smelled like a port-a-potty. The pool is the smallest pool I've seen for a hotel. I think a kids pool is bigger from target and if you dare go to the hot tub you will find the worlds smallest hot tub it's like the built it just to say they had one. Yikes

price gouge on weekends. No complementary coffee, etc. for early risers. Does not have the wonderful complementary breakfasts provided by the many Best Westerns we have stayed in for many, many years and trips.

Awesome Hotel! Staff and accommodations are excellent! We had a great stay! Definitely recommend this hotel! Close enough to walk to the beach and downtown Carpinteria. Spa could be bigger that would be my only complaint.

I have stayed at this location many nights for business. Great staff and restaurant is very convenient with great food and drink. I would highly recommend the Best Western Carpinteria Inn for a comfortable restful stay.

Roaches... all over the bathroom and room. Front desk staff unwilling to help. No other room or compensation offered. Front desk staff was both rude and matter of fact about the situation and did not offer as much as an apology. It really sucks because we have come here for years and only had good experiences. Sad.

Good spot, rooms are ok. have to drive a little ways to grab something to eat. bathrooms were average to below - tile on floor was broken, all jacked up. Other than that it's fine for what I needed it for.

Will return again and again. Carpinteria is a friendly and welcoming beach town. Santa Barbara is a fifteen minute drive, with Solvang and wine country just a little over an hour away. One outstanding feature of this Hotel is the beautiful inner courtyard, shld you choose such a room. I fully recommend it!

We have stayed at this hotel multiple times and we love staying there. Beautiful courtyard, friendly staff, excellent on site restaurant. Great location. Clean rooms with comfortable beds. Unique decor both inside and out.

I stay at this hotel on a regular basis so it almost feels like a home away from home. The rooms are not fancy and the building might need some upgrading, but this is a clean and relatively attractive property with excellent staff. If you are sleeping on the freeway side, consider the hum to be white noise. Try for a room facing west or east.

Check in was smooth. There are some side and back entrances that make it easy to take luggage from your car. The location is about 10 minutes south of Santa Barbara just off of the motorway. We had a ground floor room with a glass door that opened into a beautiful courtyard. The only problem is that you have to leave the door open because it locks if you close it and your key will not let you back into your room. Beds were very comfortable and had four pillows on each bed. There is a restaurant and bar at the hotel.

Nice rooms, balcony or patio. Bathroom tile & counter tops need an update badly. Really enjoyed having the patio. Busy streets/highway but very quiet in room. Beautiful courtyard, nice landscaping everywhere. Nice pool area. Separate worlds smallest & cute Jacuzzi. Nice restaurant with good food.

yes close to the fwy. other reviews helped immensely. the big thing was fwy noise and noise from abovre. i asked for a room furthest away from the back of the motel (where the fwy is) w no one anove us and overlooking the courtyard. we got it in room 329. also its the only room w a completely private balcony/patio. do whrn u sit there u cant see the courtyard which we liked bc it also meant no one could c us. thx other travelers for ur helpful reviews!

I have stayed here before and returned because it is a very well maintained property and it is convenient. However, it is expensive ($140) and that does not include a complimentary breakfast. On this trip I also stayed at the Best Western in Ventura, CA. It is an older property, but the rooms have been recently remodeled, they serve a nice complimentary breakfast and the staff was much more personable and not as formal as the Carpenteria property. Oh, and the rate was $107 as opposed to $140!

Escaping the heatwave in Carpenteria. We've stayed here about four times over the years. Great location by freeway, but close enough to walk or ride to beach. No free breakfast, but there's an onsite restaurant and plenty of places to dine on Linden or in Santa Barbara.

This is a Plus Plus property. Friendly staff, nice rooms. I like how I was greeted everytime I went by the front desk. The Courtyard and Fountain are nice touches. I like having a real bar and restaurant on the property too. I will definitely be back

My husband and I have been to Carpinteria twice this year. The first time we stayed at the Holiday Inn on the side that faces 101. So, this time we chose the BW Plus and chose a courtyard room and were pleased that we could not hear hardly any freeway noise. The rooms are clean and the customer service was quite good. A nice bonus is that they have a great happy hour in the afternoons. A drawback is that they do not have free coffee in the restaurant or lobby in the morning (that's such a nice touch). We aren't 100% sure if we would stay here again because my husband and I are both swimmers and the pool is Tiny (much smaller than it appears in the photos). If not for that this would definitely be our top choice.

Friendly, knowledgeable, obliging staff were helpful throughout my stay. The room had a silly timer or motion-control cutoff to the desk lamp. They should have chosen a different light to have on the entrance switch. Lavatory faucet drew no cold water because improperly installed. Some lav wallpaper was peeling, and mold had grown underneath. Good quality mattress and bedding.

I have attached pictures. Enough said about the disrepair. The place is very much in need of work. The most upsetting disrepair was the door jam, where it looked like someone had broken the door down and it was just glued back together. We asked for a quiet room away from the freeway and ended up next to an exterior entry door that was broken. After the broken slamming door woke us up at night 3 times, they finally propped it open. The next morning someone removed the prop, and we were awaken at 7:30 AM. Choose another place!

The staff was so accommodating, thoughtful and cheerful. Beds were a little soft. Unfortunately, we were on the ground floor and the ceiling insulation seems to be non-existent. LOTs of noise form the room above us. We will stay there again but will stay on the third floor.

The fountain in the courtyard of this hotel provides a peaceful and tranquil experience. There is a koi pond in the front of the hotel and the water features are an excellent touch. The entire staff is friendly and want to make sure you have a great stay.

The staff was helpful. The courtyard is beautiful, very pretty at night when the lights are on. The balconies are an extra perk. The remodeled bathroom was nice & bed was comfortable. Quiet location. The pool is not in the center of the hotel, it is in the front on one side of the hotel.

I made reservations 3 months in advance of our trip asking for 2 rooms that were adjoining. When we arrived, the rooms were divided by another room, having maintenance one. When we went to the room, the veranda was being used as a construction zone with saws and tools everywhere. The dust and noise were awful. We went back down and were told we would have to split up our party snd move to opposite sides of the hotel including one room on the freeway. Finally, when I asked for the manager, we were given and upgrade and adjoining rooms. We should not have to experience this type of service. From the beginning, we should have been given the upgrade and avoided the hassle!

The property appearance is great, the staff was friendly and courteous. However the rooms are in serious need of updating and upgrading. The bed was uncomfortable and the rooms decor was very dated. Especially for price for the weekend rate, which was almost $100 more.

From the receptionist to the room to the check-out was great. Unfortunately do not believe the pictures on the website or any other site about the pool and jacuzzi. The pool is very small only like 5 people can fit before too crowded. Jacuzzi was dirty with debris, and took 5 minutes for the jet bubbles to turn on. Then was extremely (more than usual) temperature in the water.

I've learned to check out the mattress at hotels before moving in so that's the first thing I did and found the mattress to be unsupportive and essentially worn out. I contacted the front desk and they were very accommodating and moved us to another room. Still the same problem though but I just decided to live with it. Every night I tossed and turned trying to find a good sleeping position and every morning I woke up with a stiff back. For the price of the room I expected a top quality mattress. Not this time!

A great stop that was cheaper than staying in the city. We had a nice quiet room facing the courtyard. Food/drinks at the restaurant was perfect and allowed us to stay put after travelling a long day. Overall a very good experience. Highly recommended.

Our stay at this hotel was greatly enhanced by our interactions with the late evening staff who made sure we were in a quiet room. They were friendly, funny and fabulous. Thank you evening staff on May 30, 2017.

Checked it and went up to our room , found that we had been given a double room not the king I had reserved 3 months ahead of time , called down to front desk and was told that was all that was available. The room was poorly cleaned , the tub stopper didn't work the sent someone up to repair ( waited almost 2 hours ) , the door to the balcony was impossible for my wife to open it stuck so bad , I had to pull as hard as I could to get it open , will not stay here again !

Checked in Sunday May 28th with friends for a Memorial Day getaway at the beach. The normal rate for this property is $140.00. Due to the Holiday the rate for one night was $260.00 plus tax. Upon check in we noticed the bathroom sink was blocked up and looked like it was filled with sewage. Called the front desk 5 times over the course of 24hours. During the night whatever the plumbing issue was it caused the water to back up into the bedroom next to the bed which I stepped in during the night. To add to this the noise from upstairs started at 5am. Stomping and slamming doors. We are extremely disappointed with our stay and what should have been a nice trip was horrible. Poor customer service.

We checked in at 00:30 am on monday May 30, 2017. The room number is #255. At 6:30 am while my husband and I are still sleeping in this room due to the long journey, rattling noise woke us up from above our room. Loud noises like things dropping on the floor, walking footsteps. We could not sleep anymore. We are right now distressed. Upon enquiry, we discovered that there is a restaurant situated right above our room. What is going on? We talked to front desk and the morning crew told us that the night workers who checked us in should have warned us before renting the room. Now are we being punished or what? No sleep. Please let us know what is the remedy

Above average for a Best Western. Rooms are fairly big and clean. Three stars because it can be noisy. Guests in the hallway and on balconies can disturb others. Food is OK. But local restaurants (Carl's Jr and IHOP) are also good for breakfast.

I can't stay away from the Carpinteria Inn! Just when I thought there is nothing more to upgrade - they are doing even more! A perfect place for Business, Family outings or simply checking out from your daily "rat race"!

When I saw the view of the courtyard online, I liked it immediately. Then to learn that the interior rooms came with a balcony overlooking it, I was sold.The in-house breakfast was delicious and just a few steps from our room. The house cleaning staff was efficient and went about their work in a non-intrusive way. My only suggestion would be to upgrade the mattresses.

Carpenteria area and town rocks. Less crowds and lower priced hotels and diners than Santa Barbara and walk to the beach. Drive to wineries and Downtown S.B. is less than 30 minutes away. Good clean and modern Great Western.

Stayed one night last Wed. as a stopover from Orange County to Santa Barbara. The goods: 4 stars for location. This is a good location if you want a place close to SB for half or a 3rd of the price. 4 stars for comfortable beds with 4 fluffy pillows each in a double queen room. This hotel is right next to the freeway and can be a little noisy; it was hard for me to fall asleep even after 3 hours drive. Service and general stay: 3 stars or less. Was somewhat disappointed with this supposedly "Plus" place of Best Western. Been to many Best Westerns before, to name a few: in San Diego a few times, in Washington DC, in Carmel etc. This place was the worst experience. Service was sub-par both at check in late at night and check out around 8 AM. The walls were thin, showers noisy, and the coffee they give in the room was down right cheap. Don't get me wrong I am very easy going, but when I'm paying for a Best Western Plus I expected a tiny little bit more. In the morning at 8 AM i was hoping to get some coffee from the lobby before hitting the road. When I asked front desk if they could show me where the coffee was, the lady frankly announced, oh, we have coffee you can buy at the kitchen. Wow... the night before I notice empty coffee pots and water things empty (but not cleaned). Thought they would tidy it up and serve guests the minimum of complimentary coffee, but no. They don't care. I feel like the staff there don't care and have no pride of their work. They don't care for repeat customers. Should learn a thing or two from Best Western Harbor Yatch in San Diego.

We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights and it was great. Called the day before for an early check in so we could unload the car and head to the beach, they were ready for us thank you. We had a courtyard view room 2nd floor. Good size fridge so you take all you need to make a lunch for a full day at the beach if like us that is your thing. Or 2 good markets close by to buy your stuff here. Short drive or you can walk to both. Lots of hotel parking, or beach is in walking distance if you prefer. Good morning run to the beach and back or nice gym. Pool area not so good but who needs it at the beach? ( maybe if you have children with you ) Coffee in the lobby till 7am however when we went down last Sunday at 6-55 it had been taken away a bit annoying but not the end of the world. Our balcony was shared with the room next door and a bit small, we were close to each other but it was fine for us. Carpinteria is a great place for a vacation, mini break or a weekend getaway. Only thing we did not like was that on our first night after an afternoon at the beach we stopped of at the store for a nice bottle on wine to enjoy a glass on our balcony after showering before dinner at ths Sunset Grill, but when I went to the bar to ask for 2 wine glasses I was told NO CHANCE! they had zero customers at the time. I had to go to the front desk so they could call the young lady at the bar and instruct her to give me 2 wine glasses. Our wine was very nice, but we made it a point to eat out all of the 5 days we were there. Plenty of nice restaurants in walking distance of the hotel, no idea about the food at the hotel we have seen mixed reviews but wanted to give it a try for ourselves, but not when people do care about their customers sorry. We are both Platinum Best Western rewards members and loved our stay and we will be back.

We stayed here both coming and going from Fresno. Clean, well-maintained & right at the gates of the airport . Hotel shuttle picked us up quickly when we arrived. Car drop-off when leaving was a cinch. Friendly, helpful staff ; good breakfast choices.

Very accommodating staff and convenient location. Room was clean but in need of some new wallpaper and furnishings. Daily newspapers were available but coffee in lobby area in the morning was limited.
