« Looking tired and in need of a revamp »

I think this was my fourth stay at this hotel. Each time it looks more shabby despite not being a cheap place to stay ( but then where is in Carmel?) I understand they have been redecorating but it will take more than a coat of paint to revitalise this place. The carpet in our room was very dirty and the room only got a token cleaning whilst we were there. The breakfast is only for people in dire need of food. Pity as it has a good location but I doubt I would return again

    « Pleasant Accomodations »

The room and bed were comfortable. It seemed that the room had been refurbished. The bathroom was clean, though a little worn. The parking lot was tight and didn't seem to have enough spots for all the rooms. The name of the hotel is a misnomer...no bay view from our room, though perhaps from others. A bit of a hike to the water, but not far from town.

« One Night in an Incredible Town! »

This is a very reasonably priced motel if you stay in the standard queen. The grounds are lovely with hanging flower baskets. It is right at the end of Carmel-By-The-Sea so you can begin your walking adventure into to town and not miss anything. Breakfast is not that great, but there are so many places to eat in Carmel, it doesn't matter. Walk down to the end and sit on the beach. It is beautiful at this time of year.

    « Great stay »

At first I thought I wouldn't like the place as the room they gave me was next door to the lobby (#9). But I was wrong. My room: - powerful heater and warmed up the cold room quickly - fireplace with a switch to turn off/on - shower had hot water fast and water pressure wasn't bad - comfortable & clean bed - tv with worthwhile shows - room was quiet - besides the loud guests going to their rooms late night - short walk to Carmel's downtown and beach I felt very safe here and would definitely stay here again :)

    « Very pleasant stay »

So pleased we selected this charming hotel in Carmel Village. It exceeded our expectations and we would definitely stay again. We booked a "hilltop room" and were delighted with the expansive deck offering a distant but still-breathtaking ocean view. Our king bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom had been recently updated with double sinks and elegant modern touches and the living room with corner fireplace was cozy and comfy. Complimentary breakfast included everything we could ask for, including hot choices, cold cereals and make-your-own waffles. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, and the lobby is staffed 24 hours a day (with coffee and hot beverages available) Ocean Ave was just a few blocks away and walking down to the beach was delightful as well as invigorating. While not a Carmel boutique-type inn, the Best Western Plus was an excellent choice for our stay.

    « Nice quiet location »

I booked this property on A booking site and I was quite excited to check in. It was past 8pm and I was exhausted. I went into the room and I was disappointed with the room so I asked for a different one which was worse than the first so I went back to the original room. Eventually I checked my confirmation email and called the support team and it was confirmed that I had booked an ocean view, fireplace, balcony room and that is not what the clerk gave me. Make sure you know what you paid for and get that room or better. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, and there was a decent free breakfast.

    « Excellent value - with a spectular view! »

Stayed here for 2 nights - I picked this hotel based on price, everything else was about double. I was really pleased when we arrived in our room - we had a King Suite on the top floor, with a panoramic view of the bay. Fire place was a nice touch!

« Untrustworthy and dishonest staff at this hotel »

We stayed here for one night in a ocean view balcony room. Hotel is a basic motel, dated with maintenance problems associated with a building of its age. The room was very hot and stuffy no air con here necessitating the doors to balcony to be open. A lot of noise is going on nearby till late due to its location near to late bars and restaurants with out door areas and then again from 6 am when the garbage trucks come and spend an hour noisily doing what they do literally right in front of your open window. Breakfast, well if you like eating off plastic and styrofoam in a small crowded room then you will love it. The place is not suitable for anyone with a disability as the site is very steep so unless you want to drive to reception and town it's a no in my opinion. But what really gives you an idea of how poorly this hotel is run, is how it dealt with a left bag In our room after check out. I rang the hotel around 5pm on the Thursday we checked out from the next Best Western on our road trip to ask if they found a small bag weighing 7lbs containing important medical equipment in our room that morning. Francisco said he had no way of knowing as housekeeping had gone for the day. What no lost property book? Oh well no worries he would check In The morning and get back to me. He didn't, so I rang them at breakfast time, Spoke to Francisco again, yes it's here. I asked if they could forward it on to our next hotel in Long Beach I would of course pay for it to be sent fed ex or UPS. I leave my card details explaining it was important to get it as soon as possible and explained that we would actually be returning to England in 5 days. Yes fine they would arrange it, next day delivery, should be about 40 /50 bucks this is 9am Friday. I rang them to check when I still had not received it on Tuesday. Francisco, says the courier forgot to collect it I'll chase it up! This was the 5th day they had my urgent bag and I had to chase it. I find out it cost me 115 dollars and Fed ex did not "forget" to collect, the Best Western Carmel Bay View "forgot" to ring them! They have the records to prove it and it's was so expensive because by now it had to go top rate for me to even get it before I left the country. ! I think it had a first class seat from Monterey to Long Beach I hope it got a nice glass of California wine on its short hop. Now the tardiness in arranging the collection was bad but for them to pass the blame onto the courier, well that is just plain dishonest and I object to being lied to. So if you are happy to stay in a hotel who don't keep their promises then lie about it, then have the audacity to say well it was your own fault you should take better care of your stuff, it's not our responsibility, this is the place for you. I think I deserved better from the Best Western Carmel bay View and so do you. Stay elsewhere that have honest trustworthy reliable staff on thier front desk and are backed up by customer services that are not rude. Trust is everything.

    « A regular property »

Carmel is an overpriced place to stay considering hotel rates. In this sense, this hotel seemed to be a good deal, considering we paid under 200 usd. The rooms were dated, with old carpets that were a nightmare for a person with breathing sensibility. The free breakfast was served in a small room that was super crowded, making us to find out a more chaming place to enjoy our meal. Check in was seamless, but with an associate that wasn't that much engaged on providing any kind of elaborated service. He resumed to the basics (where to park and how to reach our room). Internet connection was very poor. Would I return? For one night, considering the outrageous hotel prices in Carmel, yes. If I could find anything more charming for a reasonable price, no.

« Nice hotel with friendly staff »

A very nice hotel with spacy rooms. The breakfast is not god though and it is served with plastic cutlery and paper plates and mugs! Terrible and not very environment friendly.... I thought I had seen this kind of irresponsible attitude towards recycling five years ago, whenI visited Best Western hotel in Florida, but obviously not.

    « Average Motel »

Nothing special about this motel. The location is nice. It's convenient to walk downtown. It's November and I find the room really stuffy and warm. There's no air conditioning or venting system. I had the windows open until it got dark. It was pretty noisy from people walking by and the refrigeration system from the market next door is pretty loud in this room. If I had it to do over, I would have been pickier about the room I got.

« Cute, nice location for walking to town »

After a long day of driving, we arrived at the Carmel Bay View Inn and first impressions were that it was really cute! The front desk staff was really pleasant and helpful. We booked a double, ocean view balcony room and were given room 43. The room had a very large balcony with a dining table and 2 lounge chairs. The view of the water was quite a ways in the distance, beyond a lot of buildings and such. The gas fireplace in the room had a book of matches next to it, but when we went to light the fire, the matches went out immediately upon lighting. We tried to light something quickly and then transfer a flame, but the matches wouldn't even allow that, so no fire for us... :( The room, although not new, had a nice modern look. The only open electrical outlet that we could find though, was on the base of the floor lamp across the room from the beds. The only other outlets, besides the ones in the bathroom, were full and behind furniture. In the morning, it was VERY loud. There were delivery trucks to the neighboring liquor store beginning at 4:30am. We were unfortunately there for trash day too and those trucks started arriving at 6:30am. Although the beds were comfortable, we didn't have a good night's sleep due to the noise ( which is out of the hotel's control). The location of the hotel was very convenient for walking into town where shops and restaurants were. Carmel is really a cute town with stores and eateries that look like little cottages. We enjoyed that! Breakfast in the morning started at 7:00 or 7:30am. The breakfast room was attractive with about 8-10 small tables inside and a few outside. It was the standard breakfast with Danish, items to toast ( the toaster is really slow), oatmeal, cold cereal, eggs, sausage, make your own waffles, yogurt, whole fruit, coffee, juice, etc. I would stay here again, but not sure I would pay extra again for the ocean view balcony since it was in the noisy location.

« Lovely rooms and great location! »

What a lovely Best Western! Please don't be put off that its a chain, the rooms are huge, the bathroom is huge with lovely amenities , the beds are comfortable, we had a room with a little fire and a huge tv. Tea and coffee facilities in the room and then a breakfast which is average but included! Very happy and would have liked to stay longer!

    « Great 3 night staym »

Recently stayed three at the Best Western Plus on Junipero in Carmel. Large room on the second floor with a nice fireplace and beautiful white shutters on the windows. Good breakfast, employees all seemgred to really care about doing their jobs well, great location, ample parking. Also right beside Bruno's Market, excellent grocery/deli.

    2
    « Poor amenities »

We stayed at this hotel and while the room was fine there were several really poor aspects. First of all there was no toilet to use when we tried to check in and we were sent to a public one in the park as our room wasn't ready. But the thing that we thought was particularly poor was the breakfast which was very poor and served on paper plates and with plastic cutlery. Also there were just not enough tables for the amount of guests staying. The room was basic but fine. The whole place was just soulless.

    5
    « Great location »

We upgraded and our room was gorgeous. Fireplace, chairs and table and a balcony with a bench. It was misty, so not a view of the ocean more brief glimpses. There was a convenience store next door and Carmel town was a 3 minute stroll away. The breakfast was the best we had during our entire visit! Wish we had stayed much longer.

« Lovely Room and View »

Really enjoyed staying at this hotel . It was in a great location-and an easy walk to shops and restaurants. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the parking was easy. Breakfast is all self-served and while ok the actual room is too small and poorly organized. It is a shame as this could be outstanding venue a better design.

    « Ocean Wedding »

Carmel Bay View Inn was very nice for a weekend wedding we attended in Carmel. Hotel was clean with a Great view from the 5th floor. Location was Great for shops, art galleries and restaurants . Prices are a little on the High side but worth the location.

    5
    « Convenience with a great view »

We stayed in a king corner room with a fireplace. Used the fireplace one morning due to chill in the October air (foggy morning). We had a S/W corner room with a nice patio where we ate lunch twice. Breakfast was included but was the usual BW breakfast, adequate but nothing to rave about. The Forge across the street is excellent for dinner and right next door is Bruno's Deli and Market (great sandwiches and salads). That is where we procured our lunch and ate it on our patio. Location just off the high end of Ocean Blvd is perfect. We enjoyed walking around town. Parking is very limited, but all the shops are within walking distance of the hotel.

    « Beautiful View! »

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in this hotel. I was nervous booking a Best Western, but the reviews looked good. We were not disappointed! A balcony with a view is what I cared about most and that's exactly what we got on the 5th floor, room 64. Breakfast was a bonus.

« One night stop on way to LA from SF »

We eventually found this place tucked away in Carmel having booked two days before on booking.com. We booked a Deluxe King Room with Ocean View and Fireplace total via inc all taxes for one night - $300. So in terms of the price tag we thought this would have to be spectacular. We had room 46 which was in the corner of the property on the 4th floor. The bathroom was pretty tiny but the bedroom and the view were very good although from a safety point of view the sliding doors need to have something on them to remind you they are closed. The carpets are a bit old and tired and need changing. It was unfortunate we couldn't enjoy the view that much due to a stormy evening. Parking for us was around the back of the property which was convenient to our room. The gas fireplace was a really nice feature which we used as the only other heating was a thermostatic heater in the wall. Breakfast for a property charging $300 a night inc breakfast needs to be much better than a pretty poorly stocked self service effort with a few tables on the 3rd floor. Just one maid clearing tables and topping things up is not good enough. The check out guy was helpful to post some postcards for us on payment of the postage. The girls behind the counter were about as useful as toothache though - may as well have an auto card reader as the card machine chomped up $300 without even a thank you from them!

« One night in Carmel, no bay view from our room anyway »

Left San Francisco and drove to Carmel for a night at the BWP Carmel Bay view, guess there is a room that views the bay, but not ours, we had the pool to look at. Glad it was not used as it would have been very noisy, free car park and free wifi. Amazing we have not paid for wifi on our entire 18 day trip, just like it should be in 2016. Breakfast was fine, but weird, it was like a silent room, you felt you should not talk, the lady in charge was a little to keen at clearing tables and cleared my drink whilst I was cooking a waffle. Carmel, been here before in 2011 but everything was closed as it was bank holiday, today before we left had a wonder for an hour, everything was open, but woo, pricey or what, this is definitely a place for the well off and people who like fine modern art at crazy prices.

« Great hotel, great view, reasonable. »

We had a King room on the 5th floor. We had a fireplace, balcony and as my husband said, a million dollar ocean view. I think the price is very reasonable. The room was "spic-n-span" clean. The staff very nice. The hotel is right in the middle of the village. We walked everywhere. There is a small market next door to hotel. We will absolutely stay here again.

    3
« Great location but that is all »

This is an overpriced hotel. Our room was very average, the decor was tired and did not have AC which was much needed as the temperature was in the 90s. We therefore had to have our window open which was on the front of the room by the walkway so we were woken up in the morning by other guests walking past.

    « Disappointing experience »

My husband & I have been traveling the PCH for days and booking hotels along the way. I mistakenly booked this hotel for a day earlier before our arrival. When we checked in, the clerk discovered the mistake. The manager refused to credit me for the previous night even though we were willing to pay a higher rate for the correct night. I know this was my booking error, but I felt their refusal to credit me for my dumb mistake was harsh. Since it was getting late, we felt we had no choice but to stay here anyway. Paying close to $400 total for a common room with cars whizzing by all night made me physically ill. Because of trying to stay on a budget, we split a salad for dinner. Thank goodness Great Western at least gives you breakfast !

    4
    « Great Location »

The location in Carmel was perfect for being able to walk anywhere in the downtown area or to the ocean. I highly recommend staying on the upper floor as you have view of the ocean from your own private balcony. There is a nice pool but no spa/tub which would have been nice.

    5
« An excellent stop over »

Stayed here for three nights. We had a room on the 5th floor with a balcony and views looking over the Pacific. A clean, large, well appointed room. There's a lift to every floor and ample parking, an attractive pool is a lovely extra. Breakfast, free, was a bit chaotic! Too many people and too few tables. Since our room was nearby, we took breakfast to our room. The hotel is right in the centre of Carmel so ideal for sightseeing.

    4
« Hotel is nice, clean and comfortable »

Hotel is nice, staff was not accomodating when we asked to use a restroom prior to check in. Also parking is not easy at this location. Breakfast was good and coffee was good. Overall a good experience.

« good place to stay »

Excellent hotel. Beautiful suite with 2 bedrooms and a huge bathroom. No minuses at all except parking spaces are really, really tight. But, it is free. Nicely located for seeing the attractions in Carmel.

« All rooms are NOT created equal!! »

What a disappointment! Great photos on the website, many great reviews here but our worst accommodation during our month long visit to the US. Based on other reviews, I can see how this establishment might be a pleasant place to stay if you have a room on an upper floor with ocean views, but we named our 2 bedroom 'family suite' the Batcave! Neither of the two bedrooms had a window, and the tiny living area had a sliding door which opened onto a public walkway so it couldn't be left open at night. With no Aircon either, it truly felt like an airless cell. The staff volunteered a fan to try and placate us. I could only guess that these were previously storage rooms that had been converted to squeeze more profit for the hotel. Located right next to the breakfast room which had hopelessly inadequate seating, we even had other guests sitting in at our rooms 'patio' furniture to eat. So the curtains to the cave had to remain closed, to avoid being an exhibit! Your greed is letting you down! Visit Best Western Plus Shore Cliff Lodge (our next stop) for tips on running a great establishment at the other end of the quality spectrum.

    « Good, not great »

Nice size room with a great view of the sea. No AC which was a disappointment. However the free breakfast was pretty decent and I'd happily return. As this was simply a stop off on our road trip it delivered well enough

    5
    « Outstanding »

King suite was massive and excellent. Unfortunately only booked one night and arrived after 5. No air con but two patio doors and lots of room. Main king bed was so comfortable. Bathroom really large. Would liked to have used pool but we were too late as fog moved in. Breakfast busy as expected but eat as much u like like so goo value. If i ever cone back to carmel this room is what i am staying in ( room 61 level 5) ??

    « Amazing »

Lovely room with huge balcony that overlooked the town and the sea. Conveniently placed to walk to the town, free parking and very friendly staff. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this hotel if you are staying in Carmel. Wish I could have stayed another day.

Absolutely Breathtaking when we arrived at this Motel, the sun setting etc, We were greeted by Michael who was excellent & very informative. Nice room beautiful view overall a beautiful place. « Overnight on Road Trip »

Used this place for an overnight stay for 3 during a California coast road trip. Overall thought it gave excellent value and in really beautiful area. Our balcony looked out over the bay. Suits were well equipped and clean and spacious. Wi-Fi was bit in and out in rooms further away from admin area. Could do with air con in all rooms as hot during day time but when sun went down rooms cooled down soon enough for comfortable sleep.

    4
« Clean, good location, free parking and breakfast »

Modern room with all the facilities you require. Very clean. Carmel is a small town and so your car is not required to get to the shops and restaurants. Breakfast was adequate - help yourself to yogurt, pastries, coffee and some cooked items - only "problem" is that breakfast room is very small so avoid popular times if you want a seat

    4
« Great location; great value »

This hotel was one of the most pleasant surprises on a recent family vacation in Northern California. The king suite we stayed in was modern, clean, comfortable and incredibly spacious. The bathroom was large enough to host a small party! We were on the fourth floor, which afforded us a bay view from the balcony. Because the hotel is built into a hillside, the fourth floor was ground level from the rear parking lot, which made moving in and out very easy. Parking was tight, but there was ample street parking adjacent to the rear lot for larger vehicles. The hotel also had a clean, heated, moderately-sized outdoor pool that offered a refreshing break from all of the walking we did around town. The hotel's location was fantastic. Just a few short blocks from the heart of Carmel and a 10-15 minute walk to the bay. Check-in/out was easy and the staff was very accommodating. Breakfast was included and adequate. We spent 2 enjoyable nights and look forward to our next stay there.

« Great location, great place to stay »

We have never been disappointed with our stay at the BW Plus Carmel Bay View Inn. The staff has always been professional, friendly, and attentive. The property and rooms have always been clean. The breakfast room is a bit small for seating but there are a few outdoor tables.

    « Quaint hotel. »

This hotel was very nice. Clean, friendly staff and great location. Free breakfast was good. The staff was very helpful with directions and information on local points of interest. The fireplace in the room was a great touch especially since the nights are cool.

    « A great trip, a great hotel »

I called a day ahead and asked if we could upgrade and we were able to book the last King room. Michael confirmed to me that I had made a good choice. He was so right because our room had a balcony that was so private we could keep the door open all night. No one could get up unless they were "Spiderman" or "Batman" that is how safe we felt. We could sit out and look at some of the most beautiful sunsets over the ocean. We had a great view of Carmel from the tops of the trees to the little shops in town. The upgrade was not that much more expensive however many hotels in the area would charge $$$$ for what we got for $$....What I especially found as a nice surprise was their pool. I am not one who will swim in any public or semipublic pool The hotel pool was crystal clear and clean with just the right temp. to go in even when it was a little cooler outside. I also want to compliment the housekeeping staff including breakfast staff. They were so good to make sure our room had everything we needed including a fresh room with fluffy towels. We will be back sooner than later....Thanks again BW for a good nights stay.

Very comfortable room , comfy bed with good linen. Good free Wifi . Rooms cleaned regularly. Tasty coffee ( but real milk rather than milk powder would be appreciated ) , satisfactory brekkies . Free parking. We would visit this hotel again, as its location is great !!!

« Very nice, clean motel »

First you have to know I'm used to 4-5 star hotels. This reminded me of a very nice motel. Friends that recommended it said it wasn't fancy but it was clean and you could walk almost everywhere from it. That is all true. It just felt small and like a motel vs. spacious and luxurious hotel. Nothing really wrong here. I would say if I'd had a fancier hotel I might have stayed in Carmel longer. Some people say "how much time do you spend in your room anyway?" - well we like our rooms. And this Labor Day weekend was cloudy and cool so we did hang out there a bit. Innkeeper was very nice. Keurig coffeemaker in lobby for day and night use. Cleaning staff was timely and rooms done well. We ate breakfast out every day.

    3
    « Musty room »

The hotel seems to have been refurbished quite recently, though not to the highest standard. Our King size suite smelled musty and the lavatory blocked more than one occasion. Unusually, the room was not air conditioned, though when we visited in August, it was cool enough not to need it.

    5
    « Attended a Wedding »

Hotel was very nice, accommodations were made for early arrival, employees very nice. Loved the breakfast and how late they remain open, didn't feel rushed. Enjoyed the fireplace in room. Will definitely return.

« Good value for Carmel »

In many locations, over $200 per night would be expensive but in Carmel-by-the-Sea it is on the lower end. Despite this, the hotel was quite nice--close to Ocean Avenue, very clean, parking right outside our door, a distant view of the ocean from our balcony and an extremely helpful person at check-in. There was even a fireplace in our room. The breakfast was not lavish but enough to tide us over until we got to one of the local pastry shops and it was free. The beach is at a walk-able distance from the hotel, straight down Ocean Ave past all the quaint shops and restaurants. Hotel is also next door to Bruno's Market which we found to be handy. Would highly recommend this hotel for a no-frills stay in Carmel.

« Fine Hotel in Beautiful Carmel »

We just returned from a two-night visit in Carmel where we stayed at the Best Western Carmel Bay View Inn. The CBV Inn is a lovely, welcoming hotel with nice amenities and a great location. It is located on Junipero Dr just two short blocks from Ocean Ave. The shops, art galleries, and many restaurants are an easy walk from the Inn, even for seniors like us. If your objective is to hit the beach, you could walk to it, but on your return journey it will be uphill for several blocks. The hotel itself is in 5 levels stacked against a hillside. All floors are served by an elevator; however, guests with rooms on Floors 3, 4, and 5 may find it easier to park in the rear parking area. Our room (#50) was on the fourth floor, and we parked right outside our door. The room itself was large and comfortable with a gas fireplace, flat-screen television, large balcony, mini fridge, and king-size bed. The bathroom was smallish but very clean with granite countertops and spa-quality toiletries. The view was outstanding ? we could see over downtown Carmel to the bay. Our balcony was a wonderful place to relax with coffee and wine. Breakfast was included in the room rate. The breakfast room is on third floor. The buffet was typical of what you usually find in hotels?scrambled eggs, sausage, pastries, cereal, and make-it-yourself waffles. Between 8:00 to 9 a.m. the breakfast room was very congested, but guests were gracious about sharing their table and extra chairs. You may, however, want to walk to a better breakfast cafe like Friar Tuck's or the Cottage. There is a nice swimming pool, and some of the rooms open directly onto the patio surrounding the pool. Free coffee is available in the lobby, and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. The next time we are in Carmel we will make a return stay at the CBV Inn.

Nice rooms and romantic breakfast room. Comfortable beds and amenities. Close to shops and restaurant and beside a local super market. You can walk to downtown and restaurants. The staff is very helpful.

A lovely hotel right in the heart of the city. Rooms are comfortable, each with a balcony and a fireplace. Children love the pool! Great location - minutes from the beach with fantastic restaurants all around.

    « Carmel base. »

When you book a Best Western Hotel you pretty much know what you're going to get and we got what we expected. The rooms/bathrooms were fine and the hotel is close to the 'centre' of Carmel a few minutes walk away. So far so good. However the breakfast arrangements deserve comment. The breakfast room is a small, unappealing room with a very limited buffet. Not only that, disposable plates etc are used. It was awful. One guest took his plate outside to eat at a windy table, he returned inside for something at which time a seagull made off with his breakfast. At £580 (higher than the big international hotels in San Francisco)for two nights, it really was extremely poor value and should be better. I mentioned breakfast to the guy at checkout and he couldn't show less interest if he tried. I wouldn't go back.

    « Pleasant surprise »

While staying in Carmel, you are forced to pay top dollar and for this property, it was worth it. Beautiful large deck and comfy bed. The only 'complaint' is the size of the breakfast room. Pretty much every BW is the same and I so wish it were different. It's very uncomfortable squeezing around people to get your items and finding a place to sit at times is worthless. The eggs were not appetizing at all so I always just stick with the staples... toast, cereal, yogurt. Nothing special but it takes the morning hunger edge off.

    « Comfy Beds, View, Location+ »

For a motel, this was a good place to stay. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were very spacious. I paid $20 more to get a room with a view of the ocean and there was a decent size balcony and a gas fire place. A simple continental breakfast is offered in the lobby, along with coffee, tea and beverages available at all times. The staff at the fornt desk was friendly. My only complaint was that the air conditioning system did not allow you to control the temperature. As I like it cool when I sleep, I had to leave the windows open to get the room temperture to my comfort level. There is parking at the hotel and the location is great and within walking distance to quaint downtown area, shops and restaurants.

    « Happy Anniversary »

Really enjoyed my stay, walking distance to all our fun and I got an UBER ride easily. I liked how it was not a cookie cuter hotel, but had a unique design that fit right in with Carmel. The hotel staff were very helpful in making recommendations on places to eat.

    « Loved the location! »

An older hotel but kept up very nicely. Definitely had the seaside atmosphere. We were lucky to get on an upper floor with a balcony view of the Pacific Ocean. Very nice restaurants across the street and a market next door to pick up your food if so desired. Gave it a four-star because of the high price but I guess should be expected during the summer season. Some very unique shops within walking distance. Streets reminded us of a small European village.

« Excellente choice! Confortable, well located, really good service »

Confortable room, with fire place, well located and really good service. We were well received, the room was more then we expected. The location is perfect, forget about your car and enjoy the restaurants in the region. Breakfast is good. There is a suwiming pool eere you can stay and enjoy the environment which by the way is incredible.

    « Terrible manager- Joanna »

I booked a room at this hotel, and never received a confirmation email. I called later to check on my reservation and was told that I did not have one, so we made a reservation somewhere else. (Strange!) A week after our trip to Carmel we saw a charge from the Best Western... I called and spoke with manager Joanna who was so unhelpful! She told me that I needed to provide my cell phone records as proof that I called and then hung up on me!

« Great hotel in a great location »

Wonderful place to stay if you want to park your car at the hotel and walk everywhere....no need to take your car at this location. Room was spacious, with fireplace and huge deck. I don't know if I've ever seen a cleaner bathroom at any hotel I've stayed at.

    4
    « Good choice »

This was a good choice because of location - good for walking around Carmel - parking near our room, breakfast included, nice view, reasonable price considering the height of summer season. Front desk and housekeeping staff were helpful and friendly.

    « It's just OK »

The location is great! Other than that, this place is in serious need of a facelift. We were in a first floor room, so we had no ocean view and got lots of street noise. I had asked for an ocean view because I was celebrating a special birthday (which I put in the reservation notes when I booked) but oh well. Breakfast room is tiny and it's the usual waffle machine (when are hotels going to get rid of those??!!) nothing special at all.

    « Good choice »

Picked this location as a balance of price and location. Great spot. Nicely refurbished rooms. Wonderful breakfast. Quiet. Great location. Walk to most spots in main part of Carmel. Clean. Covered parking. Nice pool too. Many brooms have fireplace.

    « For $400 a night I don't see the value ... »

I know this is a high demand touristy location and absolutely the location is excellent (short walk to everything in Carmel-by-the-Sea), but I don't seen the value at $400 a night. We were in room 54. Our bed was uneven, we had wi-fi which didn't connect (unless you were sitting on the toilet seat!!!) and at 12.30am we complained about the noise of the kids jumping upstairs (ie floors transferred a lot of sound). To the credit of management and people upstairs they did keep it down after we complained and also notified management. Big bathroom a positive and water pressure was decent but it doesn't really air out well. I would say our view had a water "glimpse": my kids asked innocently as kids do, where is the bay view?!? Tried everything on wi-fi, called the management, called helpline, but suspect it is the room location as it is right on the end of the block. And we were trying to connect several different devices (Macbook, iPads, iPhone, android phones ...). Breakfast was amusing: pokey little room with about 6 tables and you had to queue. Service was interesting where my wife had a bit of a surly exchange with one of the cleaners. There is plenty of parking around town (or we found it okay) so you should probably get better value staying a few miles outside of town. Of course it may be different during dinner where the location and walk to restaurants hard to beat.

« Affordable with an Ocean View and Great Location! »

My husband and I had an enjoyable experience here. We had a 5th floor room with an ocean view, which on a clear day would have been fine. We had July gloom. The fireplace in the room is a nice touch. We used it everyday. The breakfast here is typical of Best Westerns. They have bacon, sausage, eggs, waffles, pastries and beverages. My one complaint is the pool. I called and they said it was heated to 80 degrees. Since the air temp wasn't going to be over 66 while we visited I thought great. One of the reasons I chose this hotel. Well the pool was barely warmer then the air temp. No one, not even the children staying there used the pool in the 3 days we visited. Everything else with this hotel was quite nice. The town of Carmel -By -The-Sea is extremely crowded during the summer season. Be prepared to walk everywhere in town. This hotel is nicely located for that and only 3 blocks from the beach. Also Bruno's Market in the shopping center next door is a great place to get freshly made sandwiches to take back to the room and not have to deal with the super crowded restaurants.

    4
    « Great affordable hotel! »

Clean, friendly, and close to the beach and town - and affordable! It is an older hotel, but well kept and has parking. There is a small market and deli next to the hotel. Walking to the beach, there is a small park and restaurants (especially Italian cuisine).

    « Lovely »

A lovely little hotel with nice managers. We were checked in by Mike I think who moved us to a room with a good view and a fireplace immediately without asking and later called to check that it was ok. The room was big with a fireplace and a massive bed and bathroom. Breakfast was good and the waffles were of a good standard. We only stopped for one night, paid about £115 which I thought was ok for Carmel with breakfast. Bed was very comfy too. We would happily go back.

    « Get away Celebration »

Great place to stay in Carmel. Very clean, centrally located, walking distance to shops restaurants and the beach for beautiful sunsets or to just relax . Do wear comfortable shoes for walking. This is the best Best Western I have ever stayed at. Customer service is very accomadating. Ask to stay on top floor (5th) for excellent views. Breakfast buffet is plentiful. Room is Relaxing, very clean, with comfy bed and soft sheets.Quaint patio with great views . Romantic warmth with a fireplace too. Enjoy your stay here. Will definitely stay here again.

    « Surprised at a Best Western... »

I am NOT a Best Western fan, however this one is very nice, inexpensive (for the area) and in the middle of everything. Great location, nice people and very clean... altogether a great surprise. The pool was a bonus.

    « Had to check out....room smelled »

Unfortunately we didn't stay. The room had a musty smell. The owner moved us to another room, although it was a nicer room it still had a smell. The owner said it was because it was an older property. The hotel is in need of complete renovation.....new furnishings and carpets etc.

« cute nicer motel in middle of carmel »

This is a Motel built in the 50s, recently refurbished. Location is in the middle of Carmel, with all the shops and eateries, small grocery store immediately next store (closing at 8pm on a Saturday, as did the hotel pool). Easy walk (10-15 min) down gentle slope to beach. Bathroom was small, nicely done, shower/tub, great hot water. Bed fine (saw a review when I was looking that the bed was hard, we did not feel so. Felt sheets were acceptable. Did not like the pillows). Wifi was spotty. Small fridge. Clean. I would feel that it's romantic, room was ok in size. Continental breakfast had fruit (bananas, apples, oranges), joghurt, waffles, eggs and bacon or sausage, cereal, oatmeal pastries that I would not eat, but I feel it provides something to start the day (then go off and buy an expensive good breakfast if your budget allows). Pretty typical run of the mill, but nicer setting. There are various types of rooms and sizes. Hotel booking sites will specify bed, fireplace (gas log w pilot light, not a switch) and if balcony/view. Obviously the ones with view/fireplace cost more. And, the cost increases on weekends and holidays. We paid for on the 4th floor with a private balcony which had some view (distant but nice) of the ocean. The private balconies are only on the 4th and 5th floor. About 10 min drive to Monterey, which has the great Aquarium, fisherman's wharf is tacky/touristy. Worth renting some real bikes and biking along the coast and up and down the streets toward Pacific Grove.

    « Nicest BW I've been to »

Well kept and newly renovated BW. Beautiful charming room felt more like a boutique hotel rather than a chain. In room fireplace, very nice bathroom and pretty bedding. Desk clerk was so nice and also gave us a great restaurant recommendation. I think the hotel being located in upscale Carmel called a need for a higher end establishment rather than a regular old roadside hotel. It may appear to have limited parking but there is a lot of customer parking in the back of the building, which is the 4th floor.

    « Always a Pleasure »

We have stayed here for a number of years to allow us to work at at a charity golf tournament. The rooms are always spotless and recently have been refurbished. The location is ideal for enjoying downtown Carmel and the beach as well as easy access to many restaurants in the area. We enjoy the views, the fireplaces, a small swimming pool. This is always our first choice when in the area.

« Perfect for overnight stay »

Stayed for one night whilst travelling down the Pacific Coast highway. Check in was quick and easy. Free car parking although spaces were tight to get into with a large car. Travelled as two couples and had rooms next door to each other. Rooms had a odd smell but once in the room you didn't really notice it. Coffee maker but no safe for valuables. Ample size bathroom with good shower. Bed was only a double so one of the smaller ones during our trip. Room came with free breakfast. There was ample choice of cereal, waffles, pastries, yoghurt, fruit, juices, tea and coffee, toast etc. There were also sausages and eggs. Yeah, it was paper plates and cups but the food was good. Hotel is perfectly suited for looking around Carmel. We were only there for one night before moving on and it was Memorial weekend so it was packed and restaurants had long waiting lists. We found a cafe at the top of the road near the motel which did lovely food and delicious cakes. Well worth a visit! Comfortable clean room and would recommend but if staying for a while you might want to ask if they have any bigger rooms.

    « Just Beachy! »

We came down for the weekend to Carmel for my mother in law's 80th birthday, (my first time in Carmel). Even though this hotel is not a spring chicken, the room was nicely furnished and clean with all the modern amenities. The bathroom was immaculate and nice. The continental breakfast was very well appointed, with a variety of breakfast foods. The hotel is centrally located well within walking distance of the boutiques, gallaries, restaurants, stores, and of course, the beach. A bit Pricey? Yes, but then consider the location

« Good location but hotel is showing it's age »

Booked this as part of our west coast road trip in June 2016. Hotel location was great and staff very attentive. We booked a bay view room but couldn't see the bay because it was so foggy. "June gloom" according to the locals, so time your trip carefully. Hotel was comfortable and breakfast good albeit a bit basic but filling and wholesome. The room we booked had a balcony with sea view (when it wasn't foggy). Hotel is in need of some refurbishment since bits of it are looking a bit tired, but did us fine for an overnight stay. Close to the local shops/restaurants and a short walk to the beach. Carmel (by the sea) is a really quaint town so worth a visit if you're in the area. Overall would recommend this place.

    « Birthday Weekend »

What a gem. We have been coming to Carmel for years but overlooked this place. Looked like they just remodeled the rooms. Stayed on the 5th floor with a private balcony. Had view of the ocean. The private balconies are only on the 4th and 5th floor. Just booked another two nights in Dec. with a fireplace. Can't wait. Walking distance to several restaurants. Can't beat it. Thanks for a beautiful birthday weekend!

    « central location »

June 2016. 5th floor king room was roomy, with an area for a table and two upholstered chairs, fireplace, a balcony and distant views of the ocean. The bed was comfortable and supportive. Old hotel style/architecture with an updated decor/finishings. Nice teak balcony furniture; great for watching the sun set in the evenings. Breakfast (included in price) pancakes, waffle maker, cereals, bacon, scrambled eggs, fruit, and yogurt. The breakfast room had access to a nice patio, but the room and the patio did not have enough seating availability, and was rather small considering the size of the hotel. The front desk staff were very helpful, kind, and accommodating, and available 24 hrs. a day. The hotel was central to the historic part of charming Carmel and everything is easily walkable.

Room was comfortable, breakfast was outstanding! Location was a plus as easy walk to shopping district. Although older hotel, we would recommend this highly. The staff was very friendly and ready to serve us. We felt safe and definitely would return to this hotel if traveling to Carmel in the future.

« nice one night stay as we were traveling through California »

TThey have done a nice job updating this motel. Was very pretty with lots of flowers all around the grounds and hanging from the roofs. The motel is spread out in 3 or 4 buildings. We arrived about 5:00 pm and had trouble finding a parking place. Finally got permission to park in handicap space. Nice large bathroom but not convenient for travelers as there is no place to put things. There is a small shelf outside the bathroom but it too is really too small and inconvenient. Breakfast was ok The room was clean and comfortable. My husband was surprised there was no a/c we found we didn't need it. If ever in the area again we would stay there again. And price was fair.

    5
« Cute hotel, spacious room »

Stayed only one night here in room 71. There is no view from our room however that's not important to us as we just needed a place to bunk. The room has 2 queen beds and plenty of space. The location is at the top of the hill, away from the shops along the Main Street however it is directly across the street from The Forge restaurant which is the cutest place ever! Check them out on Yelp! The hotel is clean, well kept and the staff is friendly.

« Location was great but not the room »

We have visited Carmel for 2 nights with my aunt son and mom. I was pregnant so i booked a room which says 4 people can stay which is not. We got a 1 sofa bed(which was really uncomfortable) and one king bed. When we call the front desk so that we can change the room with 2 queen bed they said they cannot provide us so we can check out if we did not like it. What kind of attitude is that? Is this the only solution they can give? Such a rude attitude... Other than that the location was great and room was really clean. Will i stay there again? No! And it is all because of the attitude.

    5
« Nice quiet hotel in a central location »

Stayed for 2 nights, nice large room with a nice featured gas fire. Cooked breakfast was included and was very good. The location was minutes from the centre of Carmel (which is a very small but quaint town).

« If you like rock hard beds you'll love it here! »

This isn't a bad place-but special it truly isn't. We paid almost $200 per night for a "deluxe, ocean view room". It's true-when the fog wasn't there you could see the ocean in the distance. And our balcony was spacious. The corner fireplace was nice-no warmth, but a bit of atmosphere in the evening. A bit of a bugger to start-you have to light the pilot rather than just turn on a switch. Long matches would have been nice. Bathroom was fine. But the bed.."oh vey"! Hard as a rock!! It wasn't even comfortable to sit on. There is just NO excuse for this. We almost dreaded going to sleep each night. The breakfast was nothing to rave about..tired scrambled eggs and pork sausage. The usual white bread/white sugar carbs to go with. For Carmel and the price I did expect better overall. Doubtful I'd return.

    4
« Convenient, gas fireplace in room, heated pool »

Don't let this hotel being a Best Western put you off. All hotels in Carmel are older and about the same price and quality. You just need to choose your location. All rooms have gas fireplaces and wall heaters. No air conditioning (but no one has air conditioning in Carmel). Heated pool. Rooms open to outside. Housekeeping did a great job. Parking was no problem, some spaces are covered. Elevator. Walls are thin, but to be expected in an older property (like I said, all hotels are older in Carmel). There is a Keurig for coffee in the lobby. Breakfast included, but we always went out for breakfast. Free wifi, slow, but got the job done. Be sure when you are choosing hotels, keep in mind there are hefty taxes. 2 doors down from Bruno's market. Easy walk to shops and restaurants. We also walked to the beach. Our room overlooked the pool. each room had 2 chairs and a small end table right outside the door on the covered walkway. We would stay here again. Great place to start your drive down the PCH. Close to Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove, Big Sur, and Monterey. We flew into San Jose airport.

    « Noisy and sub-par beds »

Thump, thump, thump was my experience of my room at the Best Western Plus Carmel Bay View Inn. The thumping was noise from the room above. The building has thin walls and ceilings with little noise isolation. I could also frequently hear people talking in other rooms. Though the noisiest experience was the loud rumble the maid cart made as it went up and down the halls. Other issues are the mattress was not very comfortable or supportive and the sheets were scratchy. Additionally, the wifi went completely down from hours. All these flaws put this establishment below my expectations for what a Best Western Plus should be. The good points of the hotel are the decor is to a high standard, fireplace in the room, cleanliness is excellent and the bathroom is nice and modern. Additionally, the location of the hotel very convenient to all the shops and restaurants on ocean ave in Carmel. Accommodations in Carmel are in general expensive so I never expect to feel like I'm getting a great value. But this Best Western Plus doesn't meet the bar even factoring in the Carmel premium.

    3
« The location saves this place. »

This is a very old, antiquated hotel whose infrastructure is in dire need of updating. They throw a little carpet and tile on this place from time to time but basically the place has seen better days. In a typical urban/suburban city this would get a grade C rank and about $50 per night but in Carmel By the Sea, it gets better results because of its location, proximity to the ocean and off street parking (which is at a premium here). The next time in town, we will forego the conveniences and stay someplace with nicer appointments even though we may have to "cab" into town. Beware of the elevator, I think it is a product of the 1930s with few upgrades.

« Friendly Staff, comfy rooms »

We stayed a night here on our way down the coast. Carmel is a charming place and having stayed in quite a few hotels in this city I'd definitely recommend this hotel. Pretty good value for money and the location is spot on. Across the street is a great restaurant called The Forge. And if you fancy a great big brunch you can't miss Katy's Place which is right opposite!

This hotel was a very affordable find in the heart of Carmel, CA... where most of the hotels were way out of the range that we normally budget for a hotel stay. It was just a little over $200 for a king size bed with an ocean view balcony... overlooking Carmel and the coast. The rate included breakfast. It is within walking distance to several restaurants and shops in Carmel.

This Hotel is well-placed at the upper end of Ocean Ave., the main shopping and dining road in Carmel. The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were large and ours had a built-in gas fireplace. The bathroom was modern and spacious. The breakfast room was fully stocked even at 10am. Landscaping was beautiful. Just a block from a nice grocery and gift shop - both well stocked. We enjoyed our stay.

« Great Value and Caring Staff »

Wonderful product for the value. Establishment is fresh and clean. The breakfast is more than adequate. The general manager, Joanna could not have been more kind and accommodating. It's so unusual these days to find individuals in the hospitality business who are truly sincere about the overall guest experience. She along with the assistant manager, Michael, are truly committed to excellent customer service. The rest of the staff we encountered were very pleasant and accommodating as well. Great value for Carmel. Would definitely endorse this establishment without hesitation. And having spent several years working in three and four diamond properties, I consider my standard to be a little more discriminating than most. Thank you all for a wonderful stay.

    « 25th anniversary trip »

The hotel was very nice and comfortable. It was very well maintained. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and helpful. they provided us with information about services directly around the hotel. Once we go to our room, they called to make sure everything in the room was acceptable, which it was. the room was on the 5th floor and thankfully there was an elevator, although it was a little slow. There is just enough parking to accommodate one vehicle per room. Hopefully your vehicle is not a large truck. parking is tight. From our room, we had a partial view of the ocean in the distance. the water was only a couple of blocks away. The hotel is a little hard to find, and the street signs in Carmel are difficult to see sometimes. The streets are narrow. I would have loved to stayed a couple of days and explored Carmel, but we could not. The cost of the hotel was reasonable for the room and area. Would stay there again.

    « Cute & quaint »

« Peaceful Walking Distance to Town »

I reserved a King Suite for myself, my sister, and my adult son. Upon check in I asked about the pull out bed for my son. The reservations host immediately gave me a choice of two upgrades, at no cost, for two bedroom suites. He was easy to to with and if I didn't know better, I would have thought he was the owner of the property. Our suite had a private outdoor patio and I could see other rooms with large private balconies. Our room was clean, I repeat, Clean...Breakfast was indoors or outdoors with a nice choice of cereals, eggs, waffles, banana, etc. Walk to almost everywhere in town, including the beautiful white sand beach at the end of Ocean Ave. Of course being in Carmel is a treat in itself, but our stay at Best Western Plus was the icing on the cake.

« Not much Carmel charm »

Our room was nice but overlooked the roof fans of the business next door. The hotel is on different levels so is a bit disjointed. It's on the far side of Juniper. A close walk to downtown Carmel but not in the center of things. We visited in early September. It was unusually hot. Our room was SO HOT. We could not get a cross breeze without leaving our door open. the fans from the next building were loud but we had to leave the wind open. The staff was very pleasant and helpful.Parking is crowded but there is parking which is good for a place in Carmel.

« Fantastic Location for a Short Stay in Carmel »

We recently stayed at the Carmel Bay View Inn on a road trip down the Pacific Coast Highway. It was a simple clean hotel in a fabulous location within walking distance of the all the restaurants and Scenic View Drive. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room, although small, was perfectly adequate for our 2 night stay. We only had a standard room that overlooked the small car park, but it was clean and comfortable. We stayed during slow season and had no trouble finding a parking space, however, this may be more challenging in 'high season'. The included breakfast is simple and the breakfast room small but for the price I wouldn't complain! Would happily stay here again.

    « Great Little Hotel! »

Was a little hard to find at night, though on a very main street, Junipero. Hotel upgraded us to a room with a fireplace & looking out to the ocean, but too far from ocean to really see it well. Property is older, but great care has been taken to bring it up to modern standards. Flower pots & window boxes are on each room & the flowers are well tended & beautiful. Front desk staff is great, especially Michael, who practically flagged us down on the street when we couldn't find the hotel late at night, because as beautiful as Carmel is, the sidewalks roll up at dark. Breakfast is very good & served in a cute breakfast room on the 3rd floor...elevators function great!

« Clean nice place but noisy »

I liked this hotel because it was clean and right down town within walking distance to all the cool shops and restaurants and just a stone's throw away from a little deli and market But if you are noise sensitive then this is not the place for you. I was on the bottom floor and it was quite noisy-you could even hear a guy snoring-walls are paper thin-otherwise it's a nice place to stay

« Extremely helpful and friendly staff »

The person at the front desk was so helpful....He changed with no problem and with a smile the room we booked on the internet (even though we already moved in and used some towels). I really felt that everybody there wanted to make our stay the most enjoyable possible. Thanks again for your help.

    « Awesome!!!! »

We stayed at this cozy little motel while at Carmel by the Sea. Our room was clean, a little small but perfect. It had a fireplace that we actually used due to chilly evening. Perfect Italian restaurant across the street and down the block to Vesuvio. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Oh and the continental breakfast was delicious. Thank you...

« Great Location but Walls Are Thin »

The room was fantastic. The location was fantastic. BUT the walls were extremely thin. We could hear the entire conversation of the people above us word for word. I know there was a family above us but because there is no sound buffer it felt like 20 people walking because we could hear each and every step they took.

« Ok for the price »

We stayed in the hotel for a quick one night stop and for that, it was ok. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The pool is heated. The location is great for the town and it's about 10 min walk to the beach. The Internet doesn't work and we had one look at the breakfast and went elsewhere.

    5
    « Beautiful view & location »

The location is what gets us to come back to this hotel. It's right in the center of town and within walking distance to everything. The view from our room was amazing, the entire bay. Additionally, the unit had a patio with chairs and table.

    « personal experience »

location is good, but very noisy, street noise, deli market below noisy deliveries in am. customers coming and going all day and at night until 8 pm. lots of different levels, but chopped up, to get to various amenities. elevator available but still lots of walking from one place to another on hotel grounds. not recommended for us older folks. but you should know that before booking. room was updated and clean, bathroom also updated but small and cramped. Breakfast room was ok and food also OK.

    « Summer Vacation »

Forget breakfast unless you're in a hurry. Cold bathroom, no heater. WIFI rarely worked. No microwave. Small round table barely fit 2 computers. Chairs had no arms, not good for TV watching. Small rooms and very small bathroom. Not all rooms have ocean view, ask before booking! Otherwise, good location, easy access to shops. Must drive to beach unless you don't mind long distance walking. Would not describe as luxury accommodations, but IS reasonably priced.

    « No complaints here »

Needed just a 1 night stay in Monterey area and this Best Western was the only one that helped me with this. It is nicely situated in beautiful Carmel, friendly, nice breakfast included, close to everything.

« Good location, a bit dated, limited parking, crowded breakfast »

The hotel is within walking distance of everything in Carmel Village, and its prices are reasonable for Carmel. It is an older property which has been kept attractive but is dated. The bathrooms are small. Although parking is free, there are fewer parking spaces than rooms. We drove to dinner and returned to find all the spaces occupied. We had to park on the street, where parking is restricted to 2 hours beginning at 8 AM. Carmel is often foggy and chilly in the morning, and it would be uncomfortable to eat breakfast on the outside patio in those conditions. Seating space in the indoor breakfast room is limited. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. The standard food offerings were good. The small elevator provides the only access to breakfast, and it was too full to accommodate everyone waiting for it. My overall impression of the hotel was that a lot of guests were squeezed into a small space.

    « walk to everywhere »

This hotel was easy to find. It was small but mighty. The daily breakfast was good and included muffins, hard boiled eggs, yogurt, cereal, fruit, and juices. They had an outside patio upstairs where you could eat and see the ocean. The queen beds were extremely cozy with four pillows each. We could walk everywhere including across the street was the post office for mailing our post cards, a deli to pick up sandwiches for the beach, and the visitor's center with maps and trip ideas. Our favorite trip was Mission Ranch restaurant where we saw Clint Eastwood walk through the bar. It is down the street from the mission which is lovely.

    « Nice Stay in Carmel - »

The hotel was very busy when we checked in - the young man on reception was efficient and helpful, giving us a small map to help us find the parking lot and the breakfast room. Parking and breakfast both free. Nice and close to the centre of Carmel - room clean and comfortable, though the bathroom was a bit dated. Quiet considering how busy it was. Would stay again.

    « Pleasant stay »

We enjoyed our stay at the Carmel BW Plus. The property and room were very clean and the fireplace in our room was a nice touch. The bed was comfy but the shower not well positioned for easy use. The room chairs and table seemed dated, but it was still nice. The breakfast food was ok but the dining area a bit small. Overall a good visit and fun trip to Carmel. Friendly and helpful staff too.

    « Room with a View »

I have mixed reviews about this hotel. We had a room on the 5th floor, so we could see the ocean from a distance. We arrived on a cold, rainy, windy day and the cold air came into the room through the louvered windows and the frame of the door, where weather striping was needed. There is a heater on the wall and it makes a horrible noise, when it's on. The gas fireplace is a nice touch, but doesn't produce any heat. The bathroom has been updated, but the room could use some new carpet. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The hotel location allows you to walk to the shops, restaurants, and the ocean. Basically this is a mid century "motel" with an updated bathroom in a great area of town.

    5
    « Charm in Carmel »

This motel is in the heart of downtown Carmel. It is a well maintained facility. Very good breakfast and the staff is well trained. It is also within walking distance to the ocean. Plenty of parking on site.

« Great budget lodging in Carmel »

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western on a weekend trip to Carmel - we picked this motel due to price and location. Carmel lodging can be quite pricey, and we didn't want to pay a fortune, but also wanted to be in Carmel Village so that we could walk to shops, restaurants and the ocean. The location of this BW is at the "top" of Carmel Village - up the hill from the beach (15 min walk) and close to shops and restaurants. I didn't expect much from the BW - I expected basic lodging, maybe bit worn and dated - but was pleasantly surprised. The property is well cared for, our room was very clean and comfortable, the bathroom was newly remodeled, we had a gas fireplace - it was all quite nice. Wifi worked great. The staff was very helpful and gracious - much better service than we generally see at budget motels, and even at some nicer ones. And we had a view of the ocean. The only downside to this hotel is that parking can be tight. We didn't have any issues with the parking, but we did have to drive up and around to the secondary parking and ride the elevator back down to our room - only a slight inconvenience. I can see that it might be more of an issue in the summertime.

    « Best Western's Best »

This was a pleasant surprise...a gas fireplace in the room, which was well-decorated and spacious. Loved the large bathroom, too! The location is perfect for walking to shopping and restaurants. We stay in Best Westerns frequently, but feel this is one of the best. The only concern was finding the breakfast...an elevator to the third floor, which I hadn't known existed!

« Great location with THE WORST BED EVER »

This is more of a motel than a hotel, with rooms sprawled over the property and a pretty basic standard. That could have been ok since Carmel is rustic and quaintly casual and we did not expect Versailles. We booked a suite with a fireplace and ocean view, so we expected something cozy. Our room did have a working gas fireplace and an ocean view, but it was super basic and charmless with cheap ugly furnishings, much too expensive for what it was. The heaters in each room were crazy loud. The bathroom was newly remodeled, so while not pretty, it was large and comfortable with a double sink. Here comes the deal breaker: we were two couples so we booked a suite with a queen size bed in the bedroom and a queen-size pullout in the living room. We were told by the Best Western booking agent that it would accommodate our party perfectly. The bedding was thin, flimsy and sub-standard, but it was the pullout that killed us. The mattress was super thin and felt like springs wrapped in a sheet. I AM NOT EXAGGERATING. We could not lie on our sides or move at all or the vertical bars would dig into our back and even without moving you could feel every spring underneath. We barely slept, had to get up a few times during the night and woke up crazy sore. When we complained the next day the staff were non plussed. No discount was offered or much care shown in our complaints. I would not stay here again. What good is a hotel (hm.. motel) if you can't get a good night's sleep in it?

« Worst Place I've stayed at in Years! »

I am a regular customer at BW - I chose this place for that very reason. The Internet pics we're misleading - it was dirty smelly and overpriced. I had to change my room right out of the gate because of a water saturated carpet (and the room stank) - the room they put me in stunk of a chemical smell and was old, worn and dusty, the only positive was ease of access to the breakfast because it was the second room down from where they served it - did mention it was noisy! I average 110+ nights out a year for Business and 10 to 20 for personal - this hotel was by far the worst place I've stayed at in a very very long time. Over priced crap with uncaring staff that does not deserve the BW PLUS rating!

« Pleasant stay in Carmel »

Pleased to find such a good location for a reasonable price in very pricey Carmel. The hotel itself, blended right in with the atmosphere of this very charming little city. The people at reception were welcoming & helpful, the room was more than adequate (with the minor exception of hardly any room in the bathroom to put anything), breakfast was ample with several choices, & shops, restaurants & beach were all within easy walking distance. Would definitely stay there again should we have occasion to return to Carmel.

    4
    « Fifth Floor View »

Nice place to stay. The staff is friendly. We stayed on the 5th floor. It had a private balcony and an ocean view. The place is built on a hill. Access to the 4th and 5th floors is up a block, but the access to the room is much easier that way. It was quiet and the room was nice, very clean. It was hard to tell what kind of view the other rooms would offer. There were some room located around the pool, and if you like pool access, it looked great. It is on the street level, so you might get street noise, I'm not sure. It is centrally located and easy walking to downtown. We would stay there again.

« Great hotel and great location »

This was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. The friendly staff and beautiful flowers greeted us as we entered the hotel. Our room was on the top floor and we could see the Pacific Ocean while reading on the balcony. The location was very near the shopping and eating areas in Carmel so that made it so easy to wander the city then come back and rest. The breakfast was very nice and had a wide variety of selections. We would definitely staff here if we ever return to this amazing city!

    3
« An Ok place nothing more nothing less »

Carmel by itself is an amazing place. Just a magical spot with great energy and breathtaking views. The hotel is more of a motel than a hotel. The room is old and noisy. You can hear the cars passing by, the doors slamming and people talking. The heating has a cool look of a fire place, but it's not too efficient. The bed cover has a weird texture and had to use an extra cover. The bathroom was very clean! The good things - free parking and breakfast is included, although, very dull and nothing to write home about.

    5
« Best Western Bay View Inn, Carmel, CA »

Excellent location, facility, and views of Carmel and the Bay from 4th and 5th Floor balconies! Reasonable rates for the location, facilities, and services. There was a lovely natural gas fireplace in the room that was particularly appreciated when the power went out for an hour one night! However, the pool is not heated during the "off" season of February, although temperature outside was 72 degrees and it was sunny.

    4
« Great location, good value and even a view! »

We stay here for the easy location, value and for our impulsive, last-minute getaways to Carmel. It's within a block of great restaurants and shops. This is an older motel, like most in Carmel, but can't beat to convenience and availability. They can usually fit us in, even on a busy weekend. Many of the rooms have balconies with views of the ocean! The breakfast is good for all the quick basics and more. It's been a loyal friend.

    3
    « Great location »

This place is a plus for walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in Carmel. Downside is no air just ceiling fan. Carpet in our room is pretty worn. Room is Clean and friendly staff. Pool outside our room is pretty and clean but heater is broke.

    « Great stay »

Pleasant surprise, super clean rooms, great location. Loved the charming look of the hotel. Michael was very knowledgeable and friendly. ( Would of been nice if the pool was heated, too chilly for a swim ; ) )

« Great Location With Very Friendly Staff »

My wife and I had a very nice stay at this hotel. Very nice breakfast set up with good coffee. The hotel was right around the corner from great shops and restaurants. Very nice pool and the view was great. We could see the Pacific Ocean when we looked out.

« Clean, comfortable and close to Carmel »

We loved the convenience of the grocery and wine, the access to downtown and the comfort of the hotel. We stayed in the junior suite with a Sleep away couch which we used for the kids. They had their own space..we had ours. It was perfect for our quick stay. It was very clean. The beach was just blocks away! We will return!

    5
« Great hotel in a cool town.... »

This hotel was perfect for what I like in a place, park at the door, great bedding and plenty of room. We had a suite which came with a full size living room, with a small gas log fireplace, along with a nice sized bedroom and a large renovated bathroom. Sitting in the LR with the fire going and the doors open was fabulous. Both the LR and BR open on to a large balcony which overlooks the village and a glimpse of the ocean. The breakfast looked ok; we ate out every meal since the hotel is so close to everything both on Ocean Avenue and off the side streets. If you love Carmel this is the best place to be.

    4
« Good stay for the price »

Stayed 2 nights. Location is excellent, near the ocean avenue. restraunts all around & boutique shops. Room are fine, with a fireplace. they are functional room - nothing fancy. Overall good as it had a ht breakfast also.

    « Very Nice Sta »

We had a comfortable room with more space than many hotels in Carmel. Would stay there again. They offer breakfast also, but it is just so so. It's in a great location allowing one to walk to nearby shops and restaurants.

    5
    « Wonderful place to stay !! »

Just a wonderful place...A throwback to the good old days when service, cleanliness, and overall experience counted for something. This is not a "cookie-cutter" motel-it's way, way better. Book a stay here before everybody else finds it !!!

    4
    « Good value »

Great location and view of the ocean in downtown Carmel. The top floor rooms are worth the price, clean older facility. Only criticism is they need to replace the roof, the cedar shakes have served their time. A new pressed metal shake like roof would be a nice replacement

« SAME TIME NEXT YEAR and EVERY YEAR »

This Hotel is the ideal getaway address for Carmel in every category. I mentioned it on Trip Advisor last year as well. Next door is Surf and Sand where we had a delightful dinner with the winemaker of FRANCISCAN WINES in Napa Valley. 5 Courses, 5 wines tax and tip included for $49. You cannot beat this price anywhere. This Hotel offers an excellent breakfast, sunset views on our balcony and peace and quiet 24/7.

    5
    « Nice getaway »

My husband and I really enjoyed the hotel. It was nice and clean witha a really enjoyable breakfast. We also really liked the location because we like to walk for excercise because and this was a few blocks from the beach, only a couple blocks to main part of town and there were shops and restaurants all around.

    3
« Not up to expectations »

Great central location in Carmel. Room 47, corner unit has excellent large deck and south and west views. Highlight of the unit. Don't expect anything else to reach this level. Furniture, drapes and carpet have seen better days and any walking around causes the windows and sliding door to vibrate. Bathroom has been updated and staff cleans the room well. Light your match first before turning on gas log, as there are no instructions to warn you the flame is not ignited automatically when gas is turned on. Big whoof! Parking is right outside so you hear people warming up their car for their 4am departure. Breakfast selections are just so so. These are not inexpensive cost rooms, so you don't receive the expected value, just OK.

    5
« Very nice and comfortable »

The reception here was warm, courteous and friendly. The staff all made us feel like we were very welcome guests. The room was well appointed, clean and very comfortable. There is a fireplace in each room! No microwave though so be aware of that. They serve a full breakfast and it is included in the room rate. It looked like the room we were in was recently renovated. The furniture was in very good condition and except for a couple stains on the carpet (hard to avoid such things I'm sure) it was by no means a deal killer. The location in Carmel is convenient to everything.

    5
    « Our go-to place in Carmel-By-The-Sea »

Rooms are always clean. The service is excellent and the breakfast is better than most. I am always impressed by the staff in the breakfast food. There is this one lady who quickly wipes down and cleans the table as soon as it is vacated.

    5
    « New Years Celebration »

Excellent location. Easy walk to all restaurants and shops. Next door to local market and spirit store which both had great selections and good prices. The motel has very nice rooms and offers a very nice variety of items on their free continental breakfast. We will definitely return to this motel.

    4
    « Payroll Accountant »

This hotel needs some update. I was expecting more quality for a Best Western Plus. Nice location in the middle of the city of Carmel. It would be nice if they provide a microwage in the 2 bedroom suite.

« Great place to stay! »

My boyfriend and I stayed here for the night and the room was super cute and a great size. We also got a fireplace which was super nice. It was right downtown and walking distance to restaurants, shops and the beach. The continental breakfast was also great compared to other hotels we've stayed at. Will for sure stay here again soon!

    3
    « Nice hotel »

This was a nice hotel, but cold. We got a room with a fireplace and even though we're from MN and used to cold, this room was cold. We left the fireplace and heater on full blast all night and woke up cold. The room was also supposed to be Oceanview, and you could barely see it at all, probably 1/2 a mile away and lots of businesses in the way. A bit disappointed, wish we would have paid double and gotten a luxury suite with a real oceanview somewhere else.

    4
    « A Guaranteed stay »

Over the past 30 years we have been going to Carmel, Ca up our coast. We have stayed at a many lovely places. BWBayview Inn is affordable, clean, comfortable and close to everything. WE can walk everywhere. The staff and management is very hospitable. It's always our #1 choice.

    5
« Really, and this is a BEst Western? »

Room #67!!!! This room had an awesome view of the ocean, a fireplace, and balcony. It was clean, and newly renovated. This little gem was on par with high end Marriott experiences I have had. The hotel is quiet, clean, and friendly. It is in the action, and had ample parking. Would most certainly stay there again. Awesome value!

    5
    « Beautiful Hotel »

Absolutely beautiful hotel and exceptionally clean. The people at the front desk were very helpful with questions about Carmel and places to eat. We had a beautiufl view of the ocean to boot! The location is perfect for walking around Carmel. Cannot recommend highly enough!

    2
« Dated, Awful Breakfast, Large Rooms, No Air-Con, Fairly Good Location »

The word "Best" in Best Western is definitely misleading. If this is the "best" they do then this chain are certainly behind with the rest. The rooms were a good size, but set in the 80's. Parking is available but felt a little lucky to get a space. No air con, so the shutters were open to loud music coming from the bars over the road. Breakfasts are served on paper plates, terrible powered scrambled eggs, bad coffee and a restricted choice. Go for the muffins - better yet, go somewhere else. Given how up-market Carmel is, this just felt a million miles away from my expectations. Stayed two nights but one would have been enough to make me not go back. As the room was large, fairly clean and free wifi, it stopped me putting 1* and terrible.

    3
« Clean, close to shops »

I would stay here again. The room was spacious and clean. The hotel was close to shops. The beach is a 10 minute walk down a big hill, so it's a bit of a hike back up to the hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful but they didn't have wine glasses or a bottle opener. The breakfast was included and adequate. We went during a busy time so it was expensive for an average hotel.

    4
« Pleasant Surprise and Best kept Secret of Carmel »

After looking at many hotel and B&B options in Carmel stayed here for one night based on reviews. Although I normally stay at more upscale brands, this was a winner. Friendly staff at check-in, free parking for guests, and the best part is that it is in the middle of downtown and we had an ocean view- all for under $200 a night. The room even had a cozy fireplace. Even had a complimentary breakfast. Not the highest quality, but perfect for a quick bite before we checked out to travel down the coast. Would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Great Place »

Friendly and helpful office staff who gave me 5 star service. The location was great too. The room was exceptionally clean and the decor attractive. The bathroom was large and beautiful. The only drawback was the loud heater and crowded breakfast room. I liked the little fireplace in the room too. By the way, loved "The Forge" across the street for dinner.

    5
« Good choice for our family! »

Roomy, super-clean rooms, great king mattress and bedding, good and adequate breakfast, great office staff, super convenient location! Plus gorgeous plants and flowers all around the property. They worked with us to accommodate three generations in multiple rooms.

    « A Great find »

excellent and quiet and romantic hide-a-way near carmel's shops and restaurants. the room was very clean and newly decorated with a view of the ocean from the balcony. the hot breakfast (included) had fresh fruit and an assortment of pastries.

    « Cozy Carmel Get-a-way »

This is the perfect cozy get-a-way, with a beautiful romantic in room fireplace. It was walking distance to all the little shops in town, and only a short drive to Monterey and 17mile drive. I loved my stay and will be back soon.

    3
« Good Location and Friendly Staff »

The Location is right in the heart of Carmel. The staff are friendly and the rooms are clean. It looks like the bathrooms have been recently renovated. Breakfast starts at 7 am is pretty good. The parking is motel style but the spots are very narrow but at least it's free. The room we had was average but the beds are good. The shower was an inconsistent temperature (turns cold after 1 minute) and the pressure is so so. Overall probably good value for the location.

    4
« Carmel Bay View Inn »

Great location and very good week day value (weekend cost doubles). Room and bathroom clean; however, carpet is old. Staff very helpful and cleaning staff is very good. Overall a very good value. Easy 2-6 block walk to restaurants & shops.

    « Carmel Getaway »

Enjoyed the fireplace....lovely perk! Tv was fine for basic stations but movie rental with DVD/on demand was not an option. Found a movie on TV after town shut down around 6pm. Water views were a view from 3 blocks away in the distance.... barely water views but fine for our quick one night stay. Breakfast muffins were great!

    5
« Ask for Ocean View »

Nicely maintained older typical dated inn for the region with wonderful view of Pacific Ocean 3/4 mile away. Multi-levels with no view from lower levels, so ask for room with a view if that is what you want. Clean and comfortable room. Walking distance to what you want to visit in this rare gem of a hamlet.

    5
    « Warm and cozy »

I am very pleased with my stay in BW Bay view hotel. Nice size room with fireplace, clean bathroom with a big bathtub, lovely breakfast room, close to downtown and a short walk to the beach, covered free parking - all of this on a top of very budget friendly price! Will come back and recommend to anybody. You cannot go wrong with this choice! Loved it!

    3
    « Convenient location but that's it »

Fairly tired rooms. Wifi not good. Breakfast unremarkable but good location with car parking. Expensive for what it is, but this is Carmel! And there are limited options. Quick reception but that is all you see of the staff! A solitary experience.

    4
« Love to stay here »

It's a nice hotel .. Not too expensive and clean .. I like the green tea amenities and they provide breakfast too .. Not too far from the shopping area and if you bring car, you dont have to pay for parking .. When i return to carmel, would love to stay at this hotel.

    4
« Good location, basic room. »

The room could use some updating. The carpet was stained. The bathroom, however, was clean. The breakfast was typical, but adequate. The hotel's location is great, with free parking. The gas fireplace lends a cozy touch.

    « Wonderful accomodations! »

Our Thanksgiving stay was wonderful! The inn is attractive, clean, comfortable and in a perfect Carmel location! The only disappointment was the complimentary breakfast. The gas fireplace in the room was a lovely touch! Our room was over the pool and the flowers in the boxes outside the door added to the charm of this inn. We will return!

« Just for one night »

The hotel location is OK, but no quality at all. WiFi didn't work, breakfast simply Ok. Nice people in the lobby. Just for one night no for longer stays. Free parking inside. The city and the beach wonderful.

    « good Carmel hotel »

The room overlooking the ocean with a balcony was very comfortable and quiet. I specifically asked for a quiet location and my request was honored. Very nice property and staff. The location was convenient to walk all around Carmel and down to the ocean. The parking, which is tight in Carmel, was right next to the room.

    4
    « Great time »

Stayed for 3 nights. Great location for Hotel. Friendly staff. Few times cleaning staff called to see what time they come to clean the room, which helped us to schedule better. Wireless network was good, I finished some of my work. Loved close walk to restaurants and the beach. My wife and I enjoy Carmel very much due to small city and you can walk everywhere don't have to drive a car. Great food and great service.

« Great stay in Carmel by the Sea »

we stayed at this hotel for 3 days on a chilly November week! The hotel is close to all the shops and restaurants, It is very well maintained and the room was great, as it had a nice fireplace we used nightly! The view from our balcony was breathtaking and the warm morning breakfast was a real treat for two people who usually skip it! This place is a gem in Carmel!

« Best Western PLUS Carmel Bay View Inn »

Cute, Clean and comfortable. Rooms can be noisy because it is an older hotel with thin walls and non-sound proof floors. The neighborhood is quiet, but people walking above your room can be very loud. Staff is great, kind, professional - really could not be better. Location is great, real close to everything. There are limited views of the water from the top floor rooms. On-site parking is wonderful. No air-conditioning, but windows open for fresh air. Natural gas fireplace is a nice feature. Beds are very comfortable and linens are soft and nice. Decor is older, but classy, the wife loved it.

    4
« Reasonable lodging in a high end town »

As Carmel's famous former Mayor might say. 'You feelin' lucky'? If you get in the front unit.....you will be. Reports of rooms in the 'high rise' are not so complimentary but ours was off the street and it was quiet with free parking by the door. And, in a town with no street numbers your GPS will have a migraine so just call the human GPS, Mike, and he'll bring you in just like a bi-plane in a snowstorm. The breakfast was more than expected. The beach was a bit farther than expected but we were here for Laguna Seca and the beach was merely a distraction. An enjoyable one, but not our focus.

    3
« Fine for a night in the fall »

This hotel is in a great location. Many restaurants and shops nearby. 20 minute stroll to the beach. The room décor was fine but the floor was dated. Room 42 over looks the building next door and their refrigeration unit drones very loudly 24 hours a day. Thankfully it was cool outside and we could keep the windows closed. I can't imagine using that room if it wasn't cool outside as there is no air conditioning. I expected more for a Best Western Plus. Free parking is certainly a bonus. Would stay again in a different room.

« Does what it says on the Tin!! »

I stayed here but I would only stay again if all the other hotels were full....... Room was good enough standard. But noisy as we were behind pool near road. Breakfast was actually very good. But really! There are too many good nicer hotels in Carmel. We took it because it was late and it was reasonable. We had been going to book it the previous weekend but it was too expensive. Glad about that! Don't pay over the top for this. The reception staff spent the whole time I was with them trying to sell me a more expensive room...... the previous hotel we stayed in the staff were just into helping us, not getting more money out of us. Do they really have an Ocean view that far back in the town????

« Just for an overnight stay. »

We stayed here overnight with our 2 yr old wasn't bad, we had a 2 room suite it was very spacious with a fireplace and huge balcony that over looked the beach. Some things in the room were outdated but it was clean and served its purpose. I'd stay here again.

The cottage-like appearance and the atmosphere with lots of plants made the walk to our room very relaxing. Once in the room, the fireplace, the spacious balcony with an ocean view, the orchid on the table, the two chairs & table along with a very comfortable bed made our stay perfect. It was great having a deli next to the hotel and an Italian restaurant close by.

« good bits and bad bits »

The good part is the location which is central. Rooms are reasonable size... and are clean. Bathroom is ok . Fireplace is a nice feature. No AC so good for the ceiling fan which cooled the room down. ( would not stay in summer) What is horrible is that when the man in the next room sneezed, It was like he sat next to me. I was on the first floor and the people above were up at 6am and it was so noisy and no insulation in the floor that I heard everything even including bits of conversation. The walkway is noisy. I expected more for the price. It's noisy.

« Great location, terrible breakfast »

Fantastic location, free car parking, free wifi, friendly and helpful reception staff. Room was adequate. This hotel is let down by its terrible breakfast offering. The bedroom could also have been done with being cleaned more thoroughly. There were dirty plastic cups down behind the bedside table.

« Much nicer than expected »

For an old motel, our room was really nice. Loved the fireplace. Lots of room and totally updated. Only room issue was the bathroom screen was very torn and the vent in the bathroom was very noisy. Please note: there is NO a/c in the rooms....totally missed that detail when booking. Breakfast was okay, nothing great. Keep in mind that you may need to open windows if the room is warm and it can get very noisy at night or in the morning when the garbage truck comes.

« Great value for Carmel »

This hotel is in the heart of Carmel, making it walkable to just about everything Carmel has to offer. As such you might expect it to be quite pricey, but it was actually pretty good value. The room was a good size with a comfortable bed. The lack of aircon is certainly a negative, particularly as it was quite warm while we were there. Leaving the window open to get some cool air overnight did mean we were disturbed by the bin collection trucks at around 6am. The breakfast was ok, nothing spectacular but not bad either despite the paper plates and plastic cutlery. The car park is also not that big, so if you get back late as we did one evening, you'll need to park on the street outside where we found plenty of spaces.

« Great value, Great Place »

We spent 2 nights at the Best Western Inn. The rooms are very clean, well maintained and spacious. We had a room with ocean view and it was worth it. The shops and restaurants are just one block from the inn. I would recommend this Inn to everyone, great service and very friendly, and completely smoke free. The breakfast room could do with a bit more space, the breakfast is oke, not High standing but your money's worth. The Wifi is free and superb. Again a great place to stay.

    « Bad Accommodation »

We arrived late and whilst there was one person in attendance at reception he could not have been more unhelpful. We stayed in Room 29. The main bed mattress was very uncomfortable. The second bed - the sofabed was just terrible. May have been better sleeping on the floor. The whole room was on a slope. Unbelievable. And to top if off whilst we did not hold out any great expectations the breakfast was awful. Pity as Carmel is nice. The hotel was third world standard. Never ever again.

« Excellent location in the heart of Carmel »

We chose to stay at the Best Western for our return visit to Carmel and were not disappointed. Our room was located adjacent to the pool, with parking immediately at the back door and a lovely balcony overlooking the street. The room was large, clean and well appointed with coffee/tea maker, mini fridge and a gas fireplace. Ocean Avenue and all the best that Carmel has to offer in shopping and browsing was a 5 minute walk. As usual, finding a restaurant for dinner in Carmel without a booking is a nightmare, however we lucked on finding Le Saint Tropez nearby and couldn't have been more delighted. We highly recommend the Best Western Plus - for their friendly welcome, clean and comfortable rooms and complimentary breakfast.

    « Everything was perfect! »

We stayed here one night before going to Pebble Beach. It was perfect. From the moment we drove up and saw the beautiful flower baskets everywhere. The host was so friendly and helpful. Our room was immaculate. Comfy king size bed, white shutters, ceiling fan, fireplace, good lighting, chairs, coffee, big TV, little frig, plenty of mirrors and lighting. Bathroom was spotless and looked brand new. Toiletries for us. The room was big enough for us, all our bags, and the golf clubs. And it within walking distance of everything. We will definitely stay here again

« Ok hotel, clean but noisy and I wouldn't recommend the breakfast »

The Hotel was clean and the internet worked fine. The staff was friendly and it was easy to park. Good location. But on the other side, it was noisy, the bed was not comfortable and the breakfast was served on paper plates and with plastic forks and knives. It was OK, but I would stay somewhere else if I go back to Carmel.

« nice experience at the best western plus in Carmel »

2 couples spent just one night here. We were upgraded to king size bed with fireplace and balcony with ocean view upon arrival. Very nice gesture. Staff was professional and polite. Free breakfast was quite good

« The King Suite with Ocean view gave you a great view of the bay »

This hotel had a very nice staff, the hotel was clean and organized, and the bed was very comfortable. It was very convenient to many shops and restaurants. There is even a small grocery market right next door.

    « Perfect Carmel Location! »

This hotel is located on a rise overlooking Carmel and the bay. It is right downtown, so within easy walking distance of everything in Carmel. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, and the rooms on the upper levels have especially good views.

    « Had a great time here »

Just spent one night, got a suite, it was really nice, clean, quiet, couldn't ask for more. Maybe a better breakfast but that's not why we came so that's somewhat unimportant to me. We were driving down Hwy1 and it got dark, so instead of continuing South past Lucia we drove back to Carmel and found vacancy here.

« Noisy, tired, and so am I! »

Vacationing in CA and came to Carmel after a stay at a top notch Best Western in Santa Barbara. Foolishly expected that our experience here would be the same...not! This place is old, tired, and noisy, which unfortunately is a buzz kill for its location just across the road from shops and restaurants. The parade of the rolling suitcases begins around 5AM. With no A/C in the hotel open windows are the only cooling source at night and that means you hear every footstep and every suitcase wheel as early departing guests leave the hotel. Plumbing must all be intertwined somehow because when any shower anywhere in the hotel is turned on you hear it loud and clear. Well hidden (and awful) complimentary breakfast is well hidden on a third floor....only way UP is on an elevator unless you want to walk out of your room around the front of the hotel and THEN approach the breakfast room that way. Do yourself a favor and find one of the many wonderful bakeries or coffee shops downtown...maybe even run into a friendly Carmel firefighter and ask about egress laws for area hotels.

« Location trumps noisy for this place! »

Walkable distance to town, so a big thumbs up on convenience. Parking is sparse, breakfast is well hidden on a third floor and althoug its included in your room rate, do yourself a favor and find one of the great bakeries or coffee shops downtown. The hotel place is tired and quire honestly so am I! Suitcases start rolling down the outdoor tiled walkways at 5AM and since there's no air conditioning and windows need to be opened the early AM foot traffic is a killer for anyone looking to sleep in on vacation. Between the clatter of rolling suitcase wheels and being jarred awake anytime anyone anywhere in the hotel turns on a shower faucet, do yourself a favor and check into one of the many other options in Carmel.
