    « Family Fun »

Good sleep, good food. Fun times in the pool with a slid! Fun for our whole family, including our dogs ?? Staff were helpful for people like me that can't walk well. They opened up the pool at the entrance to accommodate me.

« Great location , great rooms and excellent service! »

This location is perfect.. just off the # 1 highway to Banff, close to downtown, coffee shops and restaurants. The room ( we stayed on adult floor 4 ) is comfy, spacious and very very clean. Reception was professional . This hotel offers free complimentary breakfast( check it out! ) .. there is a waterside and pool ( however this was not in service when we were there ) but the hotel did call us and let us know. They offer free tickets to the recreation centre in Canmore which has a pool . Definitely coming back !!

« Excellent value on short notice »

A few weeks ago we were in Calgary at a wedding reception on a Saturday evening. We intended to head out on time to get back home to Lacombe by about midnight, but when we walked out into the night air, I was hit by a sudden urge to head to the mountains instead. We had no reservations anywhere, but it was late fall, so we thought - what's to lose? AMA membership proved helpful in getting the names of a few motels in Canmore, and the first one we called was the Pocaterra Inn. They had a number of vacancies, so we booked a room and sort of accidentally, on purpose headed west instead of north. And what a nice surprise it was to find ourselves in that lovely room - really nicely appointed, spacious, tasteful, even a corner fireplace, and a little verandah outside. And of course, no hotel gets this kind of rating if the beds and the pillows are anything but perfect! The decor theme throughout the building was something else I liked - canoeing and exploring and voyageuring and mountaineering - with a lot of the pieces actually worth stopping in the corridor or the lobby to have a look at ... I loved the whole place. We were too late to enjoy the pool, but that too looked very attractive. The hot tub would have been the perfect place to relax as the autumn sun settled over the mountains across the valley! The entire hotel - it was just what we were looking for - and an excellent value too, especially on such short notice. Oh! And then there was the excellent, excellent breakfast room the next morning! Mmmm!

« Nice place to stay just outside of Banff »

This hotel was very clean, I like a clean bathroom and it was spotless. The pool was nice but a bit cool but again very clean. The breakfast was good with lots of choices. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The temperature in the room was too hot and the fan was broken.

    « Very Nice Hotel »

Stayed for three nights. Clean, roomy two Queen bed unit. Friendly staff and a quality breakfast with good variety. Price point was excellent relative to other hotels in Canmore. The pool facility looked wonderful although we didn't use it.

    « Large comfortable room. »

We were travelling in a group of 6 in mid-July and finishing up with a Rockies road trip. We stayed for two nights in 3 rooms. Rooms - rooms were large with two double sized beds each. They hotel was able to give us rooms close together so that was appreciated. Bed and linens were comfortable and very clean. Rooms had laminate floors were felt a lot cleaner than carpets. Bathrooms were large and clean. Noise - the doors were very heavy and seems to bang everytime someone goes in and out. They woke us up one morning when a couple rooms close to us were checking out very early. Location - good location. Next to the highway but no noise from outside. Next to McDonald's and Tim Hortons and a couple restaurants down the block for drinks at night (the hotel did not have a bar). We also walked one day from the centre of town (Canmore Gaucho Brazilian Barbecue) (20 min). Breakfast - basic and very busy. Check-in - Inefficient and the staff was very rude. Staff was very confused with the three rooms we booked. We booked 3 rooms for the first night under one name and 3 rooms for the second night under a different name in our party. It turned out to be a nightmare for the check in staff (and for us to having to deal with the behaviour for the staff). Not sure why the bookings were so confusing for him. We had even emailed months in advance to let them know we booked 3 rooms for 2 consecutive nights under two bookings and they responded with no problem. Unfortunately, this was not the case. Service training was definitely needed for that staff.

    « What a view! »

We traveled to Canmore for a mini vacation and choose this hotel mostly due to the excellent price we were offered when compared with other properties in Canmore but we will stay again because of the friendly staff, cleanliness and great view. We had a room on the back side with a balcony and were blown away by the absolutely stunning view of the mountains. Every staff member that we encountered was more than friendly, and always asked how are stay was and if we needed anything. To our delight upon check in we opted to do without housekeeping and were rewarded with a $5.00 gift card for either Starbucks or Tim Hortons. The property is easy to find and is located within walking distance of several restaurants.

    « Good family hotel »

The Best Western Pocaterra Inn was a good hotel for us to stay it. It was central for my husband to commute to for his conference and a good weekend getaway for the family. The kids enjoyed the indoor pool and it was nice that the hotel offered breakfast. Easy access to the highway. Good location.

    « Canadian Rockies »

This is a wonderful hotel. Our room had a gas fireplace. The furnishings were nice and comfy with hotel quality linens. We enjoyed wonderful hot breakfasts each morning with a change of egg combinations. A nice variety of other breakfast foods. This is close to Banff, without high prices. Lake Louise is within an hours drive.

« Good hotel great town »

Canmore is a beautiful town, and we were overwhelmed by it's beauty...The best western hotel is a nice and clean hotel with large rooms. Breakfast is ok...not bad and not great. Shops and supermarket are just 5 minutes away, by car.

    « Fabulous Mountain View! »

With a stunning mountain view from our balcony and a cosy fireplace in our room, this hotel had a very comfortable atmosphere! If you stay more than 3 days, you get a discounted room rate. If you opt not to have your room cleaned, you will receive a $5. Tim's card! The hot buffet breakfast ( included) was a good variety of fruit, yogurt, eggs , bacon, breads, etc. A memorable moment was waking early and seeing the early sunrise casting a pink cast on the mountains! It is only a short drive to the business district and the tourist bureau...also easy access to the trans Canada highway!

« Quiet luxury in pretty town »

Canmore is a short distance from Banff and offers much cheaper accommodation and dining. The Pocaterra Inn is a four star hotel with spacious rooms and a guest laundry. Our room even had a fireplace. The building is quite new and offers free car-parking just off the highway. Only a small charge is made for the washing machine and dryer. Good choice of restaurants in this very attractive town with soaring mountains at its edge. Staff were most helpful with suggestions. Breakfast is included and there is a wide selection to choose from. There is no evening dining service.

    4
    « Grumpy Old Man »

Service was very good and helpful. They have a very nice complimentary breakfast served in a nice open space. The larger rooms are very spacious, clean and nice comfortable beds. Close enough to the town if you enjoy a nice walk.

« Dated decor but great stay »

What we noticed as we walked into the lobby, was the dated decor. BUT, the desk clerk was friendly and welcoming. We asked for hiking trail suggestions and he wrote them down for us. He also said that he booked us in a room that faced The Three Sisters. Breakfast was excellent. We have been to many hotels that include a free breakfast but this is the only one that offered almond milk. For those of us with special diets, that was very much appreciated. Highly recommend this hotel.

    « Great setting »

Helpful and friendly staff. Comfortable room and bed, Beautiful location with great mountain view, Convenient and good breakfast. All amenities and restaurants close by. Would recommend to everyone. Reasonable price for what you get.

« Excellent get away in the mountains »

Booked this hotel using Airmiles. Only stayed the one night, but had a neat, clean and spacious room with king bed and gas fireplace. There almost seemed to be too much room, but if you were to go in the winter with all your ski/snowboard gear you would need it. The bathroom was clean with a large jetted tub.

    « Excellent stay! »

Very comfortable hotel .nice beds with great pillows! Complimentary breakfast was excellent with hot selections as well as pastries and fruit. There are also fresh cookies in the lobby! The hot tub and pool with waterslide make it great for families!

« Good location and great breakfast »

The young man at check in was very friendly and helpful. He booked us in a room with a window facing The Three Sisters. I asked for hiking trail suggestions and he recommended quite a few. Our room was clean and everything was in working condition but the decor needs updating. The floor in the elevator needs to be replaced. The hot breakfast was excellent. We have been to many hotels that offer a hot breakfast but this is the only one that offers Almond Milk. For those of us with special diets, this is much appreciated. I highly recommend this hotel.

    « Great place! »

We absolutely loved our 2 night stay here. It was relatively quiet (for a busy long weekend), the rooms were cozy and clean, and the breakfast buffet was delicious. I hope to stay here again next year!

« Great value, nice hotel »

Clean, large rooms w kitchenette. Great beds. Quiet hotel just down the road from Wendy's and McDonalds. Awesome hot brekkie w eggs & bacon, waffles. Pool and hot tub. All at significantly less than hotels in Banff. Free parking. Will def be back.

« Great breakfasts and very clean »

the room was very clean and wood floors were a bonus. If staying please request a room not on the same side as HWY 1 as it was noisy all night. Breakfasts were the best we have ever experienced, breakfast room very clean and great selection of food with lots of healthy options.

« Nice Hotel, Great Value »

Nice hotel with interior corridors. Our tastefully decorated room had granite countertops, fireplace, nice towels, comfy bed and pillows, and a separate area with microwave, fridge, and coffee maker. The weather during our stay was cool, however I was appreciative of the room air conditioner, which I ran during the night to keep the room temp comfortable for sleeping. There were hot items at breakfast in warmers that included: French toast fingers, sausage, eggs with cheese, potatoes. There were also pastries, breads, fruit, etc. They have a very nice indoor pool with water slide and hot tub with nice strong jets. The front desk was pleasant and helpful, providing directions and holding our luggage for us after checking out. I would stay here again.

« Pocaterra Inn in Canmore »

Comfortable with great view. My family and I enjoyed our 3-night stay at the Best Western Pocaterra Inn in Canmore. A beautiful place to visit in the fall. Room had great view with balcony that we enjoyed and fireplace that made the experience cozy. Breakfast was standard but still good to have. Room was clean but during the stay they didn't pick up all the dirty towels or wipe the floors, which needed to be done.

    5
    « Good Hotel »

This is a very nice, clean hotel. The location if great. Quick access to Banff. It had a good view from room. The pool is quite nice. The breakfast was normal and good for this type of hotel. Good hotel for one or two nights.

    5
    « Quaint »

THis town is nestled in the valley with mountains surrounding you on all sides. A beautiful scene to wake up to. And the stroll through the actual town was wonderful, lots of little unique stores and boutiques.

« Highest-priced Best Western ever encountered in decades of worldwide travel. »

Asked for a quiet room ... received room ten feet away from elevator and on busy access road. Large breakfast room crammed full of tables within inches of each other. Fortunately, we must have missed the billions bussed through the room each morning. Amazingly, the front door was on a steep incline with no steps or ramp. It was difficult to pull your wheeled luggage up to it ... and then there was no automatic door. The one elevator in this large motel had a mind of its own and you were never sure where you were going and how long it would take you to get there. The offerings in the breakfast room were dismal and cold but the staff was always willing to replenish them. The coffee wasn't.

« A good hotel on the strip »

We stayed one night at the BW Pocaterra Inn. The room was large and very clean. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Top notch. Wifi was strong and good parking around the hotel with easy access to the lobby. The breakfast room provided lots of choices. Oddly, there was no luggage rack and no recycling bin. The window opened but the highway is not far away and the trucks run all night long. This is the case for all of the hotels in that row, not just the BW. There are also some good restaurants within walking distance. A real plus.

    5
    « Excellent Lodging »

Booked last minute through walk-in, got a great rate even though the hotel was busy. Got great service from Theron at the front desk, really appreciate that. The room was large and clean, with a gas fireplace. The hotel had a great workout room that we took full advantage of. The rate included a decent breakfast with an assortment of foods to choose from. The hotel is well located, close to restaurants and other conveniences. Also, the whole place was in good shape, and very quiet, never heard a sound all night, slept very well.

« Great experience with BW »

Very good experience with Best Western compared with the other hotels of the travelling. The staff of BW are very friendly and helpful that I would like to mentioned. Keep the good job. I would definitely stay with BW for the next trip.

« Very good for the value »

We stayed there for 2 nights. The hotel room is very clean and beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is free and sufficient. We have 2 queen size beds with fire place. Very good value for the money. Will definitely stayed there again

    « Clean with Views »

It was clean, good free breakfast, with views in every direction. There is a family style restaurant located right next door and a McDonald's close by. The beds were comfy. It is quiet at night even with the windows open.

    5
    « Great service »

From the great staff to the wonderful breakfast provided every day this is one hotel we come back to when staying in Canmore. The breakfast offers gluten free options which can be very important to many people especially when travelling. They also put out cookis and iced tea out every afternoon.

    « Nice town »

Nice room, bed good, pillows to soft for me,A/C was good..Not many TV channels, had alittle issue with TV, Nelsen came & helped us out with it & A/C,very nice & gave us some good tips on where to go ...do appreciate that.Breakfast at 7am..alittle late for us.. & it was ok..& very crowded & a tight area to get food, everyone in each others way..Hot water ,since I drink tea or use it for oatmeal, is that they use the container for coffee,it has that taste in it,I don't like that..I can tell right away & usually won't use it. Its not a big deal...Good location, town is really nice...we walked to it..takes 10-15 min

« Great location, AMAZING service! »

In August of 2016, my family and I stayed at the Best Western Pocaterra Inn in Canmore on our way to Fairmont, BC, as it was one of the few places that accommodate a family of five in one room. After checking out and making our way to be, my wife checked her voicemail and found that the Best Western had called us to let us know we'd left our portable hard drive behind in drawer, and would hold it until we returned. As you can imagine, we were stunned since in this day and age, you'd typically expect to never see something of this kind of value ever again. We happened to be staying there again a few days later on our way back from Fairmont and after we checked in, it was promptly delivered to our room by the friendly staff. The rooms are clean and modern, the water slide is a great way to tire your kids out (and it's fun for adults too!) and it's in easy walking distance to several restaurants. I can't recommend it enough!

    3
    « average stay »

The room was clean. The breakfast was good. The furnishing in our room (drapes, upholstery etc) were worn. When we checked in we asked if we could have a quiet room. The response was "all of our rooms are quiet" and we did not find this to be the case. There was traffic noise. Without the ac running, this would have been a problem for us but the ac blocked a lot of the noise. We thought our stay was average. Not remarkable in any way (good or bad).

    « Surprisingly great »

I wasn't expecting much from our stay at the Best Western, and I thought it would be a simple hotel as we passed through Canmore. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The hotel is of moderate size and quite updated. Our room was fantastic, and huge! There was so much space to move around. We had a single king room and we had a nook by the window with a desk, a fireplace with two chairs, a small kitchenette area (sink, microwave and mini-fridge), a dresser and large bathroom. The TV was a huge hi-def flat screen, and probably the nicest I have ever seen in a hotel. The bathroom had nice touches like Rocky Mountain Soap Company products, and even had Epsom salts for a bath. The bed was very comfortable and my husband and I both slept like rocks. Breakfast was good, with a wide range of hot and cold food, and real plates and flatware instead of the usual plastic and paper I see at hotels with complimentary breakfast. The price per night was fairly high, coming to about $280 for the night with tax, but this may be because of a couple of cycling and running events that happened to be occurring that same weekend in Canmore. The hotel is off the highway on Mountain Avenue, and not downtown. It's about 1 km to the downtown area, and is probably walk-able, but be sure to check a map if being in the middle of the action is important to you. I'd love to revisit in the winter, coming back to the big cozy bed and fireplace would be lovely.

« Stayed twice, would've rated higher after first trip, but second visit not as good »

So stayed first night in King suite Room 408. It was amazing. Everything was perfect including view, jacuzzi tub in bathroom, quiet facing mountains, more than we expected. So good we choose to stay again on way out of town. A little disappointed second time around. Room 401. Cool shower for both husband and me. Room did not have nice view. Heard highway 1 from room, but not so bad it disturbed sleep. Room itself was nice, but not as nice as suite. Disappointed in cool shower. We told staff on way out to fix. They apologized and said it was a first they heard that, but we had shower water fully cranked to hot, and had cool showers. Waterside seems great for kids. Breakfast included and average hotel buffet. If we stayed again, we would book room 408 suite again. Staff nice.

« Lovely hotel. And free breakfast! »

The hotels here are not cheap. Probably due to being close to Banff... Any how we went door to door, or hotel to hotel looking for the best value. We visited about 6 along the main strip. We went back to the Best Western. They had really clean, and quite fancy, rooms with nice furniture and even a fire place. (And a large TV!) They have a great swimming pool with a large water slide. And they have a wonderful breakfast! Important. They did all this for a bit less than their competitors. Although their competitors did not have slides or a free breakfast!

« It's clear why this hotel is so highly rated! »

The Pocaterra Inn is probably the nicest Best Western hotel my wife and I have ever stayed at. Very modern, tastefully decorated and extremely clean. Our room was very quiet and had a nice attached balcony to sit out on and enjoy the mountain views. We especially appreciated the option to forego room/towel service in exchange for Tim Horton's gift cards we used later at the airport. The inn is located just outside the Canmore business area and close to many good restaurants (The Iron Goat and Georgetown Inn are very good). Another pleasant surprise was the complimentary breakfast -- scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, diced potatoes, cereals, waffles, pastries and fresh fruit were just among some of the daily offerings. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful; the staff maintaining the breakfast room were especially nice and did their best to keep the tables clean and items well stocked.

« Perfect hotel for Banff Holiday »

The hotel is right off the Trans Canada Highway with mountain views on both sides. It is extremely well maintained with a pool and slide and one of the best breakfast set ups I have ever seen at a Best Western. There was even cookies available in the afternoon! It is 10 to 15 minute walk to Main Street and along the way you will find all the typical infostructure you might need for your holiday including a huge Canadian Tire. Directly beside the hotel is a Tim Hortons, Wendy's and McDonalds so for families it is the best of locations. A Boston Pizza is about a 5 minute walk. The town of Canmore is not to be missed either as the trails and views around the town are beautiful especially with the signature mountain range called the 3 Sisters. Our room was very comfy and we even got a balcony although you really don't need one as there is so much to see and do outside your room. The Town of Banff is 18km away, Lake Louise is 70 Km There is also a bus system in Canmore although we did not use it. I would strongly recommend this hotel and I thank them for making my milestone birthday visit even more special. These pictures were all taken in Canmore

« Nice place, comfortable and clean »

We stayed here for one night driving from Jasper back to Calgary and it was a pleasant stay. I really liked that the guest rooms didn't have carpet but flooring. I wish more hotels did that, it just seems cleaner. The room was a nice size with an electric fireplace. We didn't use it though. There is a nice looking pool but our stay was mainly to sleep as we got in late so we didn't use many amenities. The free breakfast the next morning was one of the better hotel ones I have had. Nice crispy bacon, potato wedges, and French toasts sticks were what I filled up on. The only thing missing was a waffle maker, which I love in hotels, but the nice food variety made up for it. Overall a quick and pleasant stay. The guy at the front desk was great too, very friendly.

    « Was not impressed »

I have a booking for Thanksgiving long weekend at this hotel and so I was on my way to Banff this Sept long weekend and was excited to check the hotel out as I have never stayed there before. I went upto front desk and asked the girl a couple of questions telling her I am booked for 5 days in Oct. She made me it obvious she didn't want to answer my questions and very cold as she wanted to go back to eating her bagel! Was not impressed with the service at all and now dreading having booked there!

    « Delightful Surprise »

We made reservations as we travelled across country and were coming up with very little until we snagged reservations at the Best Western in Canmore. Our room was extremely comfortable and inviting with a fireplace, king size bed and a patio that looked out on the mountains. The restroom looked as if it was created to accommodate wheelchairs with the beautiful glass, french doors and roominess. The Best Western family were professional, helpful and welcoming. When my husband's phone was left behind in the room, they kindly mailed it to us with no problems. All in all, Best Western provided a wonderful experience. We plan to stay at this motel again and to recommend it to our friends.

« Very good, well maintained hotel »

Overall the hotel is very clean...the rooms are comfortable complete with aircon, fridge and microwave...breakfast is good but could be better..location is mins away from Canmore center...check-in is a bit late at 4:00PM

« Good rate, nice hotel »

We stayed here for 2 nights on the long weekend. They were completely sold out but still offered a good rate (Costco card rate). The room was clean, beds were comfortable. The continental breakfast was very nice. It makes a stay so much easier when you can grab a warm or cold breakfast right at your hotel before you head out for the day. We even got a $5 gc for not having our room cleaned for each day.

    2
« Not helpful at all »

I called the hotel to book a room for the Thursday, 1st of September. I made the mistake of calling the hotel directly instead of going through the reservation line. I said to the clerk the correct date. He sent me the confirmation letter and I did see the 1st of September. Much to my surprise, when i went to check in; it was made for the 31st of August. Management was not helpful at all over the mistake. I was told they were sold out last night and could have sold the room and it was a lost of funds on my part. They offered a room for us for $160.00 plus all taxes; a special from $250.00. We walked out and will NOT return to this BW again. I have stayed at this hotel once before and I was not overly impressed with the front desk staff the last time; unfriendly and unhelpful about what to see and do in Canmore; breakfast was OK, nothing to rave about and my Diamond status got me nowhere with them unlike other BW that I have stayed at that where it has. i wanted to give them a second chance as it is a good half way point to where I was going. Needless to say; it will be the last time.

« I've fallen a little and it wouldn't take much to get up »

We has a two night stay earlier this week at this fine facility. We liked what we saw and enjoyed our room. We had a little brush with cheapness when we went down to the pool. It was very dim. Overhead bulbs had not been replaced. The hot tub had no railing; a recipe for who knows what? Worst things have happened but that should be an easy fix. Next morning the breakfast cattle call was in progress. People were waiting for tables to sit down. Every square foot was occupied with tables and chairs. I kept an eye out for exits. Was easy to get blocked in. It was like a moving maze. Tables were often left sticky and uncleaned between guests. This area was terribly understaffed. Waiting for food to become available was the rule. Speaking about food - it was not even close to being delicious. I can't believe any staff have had an opportunity to taste this stuff. It was not good. I did not go back there the second morning. It turned out to be a great disappointment to me. Again, the money has been spent for all this food. Surely someone there knows how to manage this process and can be given the personnel resources to accomplish this task. I don't believe this would break the hotel's budget to properly address this issue. You're so close BW!

« Great views, OK hotel »

This is an older hotel with an updated interior. The rooms are smaller than the ones in the US and looked crammed with furniture. The wifi was intermittent and breakfast was nothing special. Ice machines were on the first and fourth floors, too far away for me.. This hotel works as a stopover to Banff but bot for long stays.

« Interesting Choice for Cleaning »

Long, tiring day after flying into Calgary. Hotel was typical of more up-to-date Best Westerns. Front desk person could have been friendlier, but was competent. Maybe we were just over tired from a long day of travel. Room was large, clean, and quiet. Wifi was adequate. Lots of people in town, and lots of tour buses. Breakfast was usual fare, but plentiful in a clean dining room. One thing I noticed: There was a sign in the elevator offering a gift certificate to anyone who would forego having their room cleaned in the morning. Really??? You wouldn't want your room cleaned?

    « August Stay »

Canmore is a beautiful town. Hotel is located close to Banff (less than 15 mins drive) with adequate breakfast to start the day. Front Desk staff not friendly & not helpful, don't offer information about the attractions & getting around the area in contrast with other Best Western locations I have stayed in. Housekeeping does not consistently replenish toiletries. Overall, good value for the stay but unsure if I will stay here again in the future.

Hotel is well kept. Facilities were well maintained. Beds were very comfortable. A huge consideration when travelling. Linens and towels were of good quality. Great pool for anyone who has kids. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

    « A great hotel for families »

We stayed in room 209 which was really clean and the beds were really comfortable. Great mountain views. The kids loved the swimming pool with the slide which was ideal as the weather wasn't great. Staff friendly and helpful and check-in was easy. Would stay here again.

« Great hotel - wished I knew more beforehand »

Really liked this place. The staff were amazing so was the breakfast, my kids loved all the choices! Only complaint was that the pool was very deep for little kids and when I searched it out online in was unable to find this info. It was clean and maintained well and the kids loved the slide! Well come back for sure!

« Nice place in a great city close to Banff »

This was a nice place to stay. Clean, comfortable and friendly front desk staff. It's just a short drive to Banff. Also, a very nice area for biking and walking around town. There's a great paved trail between Canmore and Banff for bikers.

    « Amazing views »

We stayed here for 4 nights while travelling from Vancouver to Calgary. The hotel has a great location with stunning mountain views. Our room was gorgeous and spacious. With two adults and two children we had plenty of space. The pool with slides was a great bonus after a long day out. Breakfast was quite manic and quite busy, but it was the height of summer. Definitely recommend

    « Canadian Adventure »

My mom picked this hotel for us to stay in while we were in Canmore. It is located right off the highway if you are heading East. It looks like it is privacy fairly new and it is well kept. The rooms were beautiful and felt nice to be in. The wifi didn't always work well for some reason even when it said it did, but I've had this happen in many places so I'm not sure that is the hotels fault. Like most Canadian hotels, it has a water slide which we didn't use because we don't have kids. The hotel is located five minutes from town. The town is adorable. The hotel is really close to everything but you have to take some of the frontage or back roads to figure that out. The staff were great. A special shoutout to Nico for helping us carry a cooler without being asked! It is located next to Tim Hortons which is a definite benefit and they give you a gift card if you stay multiple nights and don't get your room cleaned. The views are incredible and it's not too far from Banff National Park. Breakfast is okay... Nothing special, but typical hotel breakfast food. We would stay here again.

« Relaxing hotel with super views but no bar or restaurant »

Came here for 3 nights. Ideal hotel for the family on holiday in Rockies . Lovely view from window see photo . great choice at breakfast everything you could want to eat . Clean and tidy hotel. Just shame there is no bar/restaurant on site for evening meal when tired after long day hiking.

Clean hotel, conveniently located near many restaurants and also close to the Trans Canada, hotel set amidst beautiful scenic mountains, delicious continental breakfast with many options, awesome pool/hot tub area, helpful staff. Very pleased.

« Wished could have stayed longer »

We stayed in the king suite with jacuzzi. Great bed in separate room, jacuzzi felt great after long day. Suite itself was clean, just wished the windows weren't streaky so we could have seen the beautiful view. There is a breakfast offered but left too early to enjoy.

Honestly, an amazing hotel. Great breakfast, pool, staff, and rooms. Check in was smooth and the manager could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. We lived out brief stay and would definitely return.

    « Great hotel »

We enjoyed very much our stay of 4 nights at the end of July 2016. Best free breakfast ever seen, nice breakfast room. Clean and quiet room with good size, wooden floor, nice view on Three Sisters mountains (on the Bow Valley Trail side). Laundry room available. Canmore seems to be the best base to visit Banff National Park at lower cost. The only suggestion I would have would be to start breakfast earlier than 7am; 6:30 am would be better to then reach Lake Louise or Moraine Lake earlier and have a parking spot there as the area is incredibly busy this summer, even in the morning.

« Very good place to stay for National Parks »

We stayed here in a standard room for 3 nights, then stayed up in Jasper, then came back for one more night in a Jacuzzi suite before leaving for Calgary airport. The standard room was very comfortable, clean, and roomy enough. The complimentary breakfast was a nice way to start each day, and it included hot items like eggs, sausage, and french toast sticks. The suite was huge, like an apartment! It included a living room with a fireplace, a large bedroom with a fireplace, a half bath, and a huge bathroom that was lovely. It was a great way to end our trip to the Canadian Rockies! Also, Canmore is a great place to stay. It's a cute little town with much to do and good restaurants within walking distance from this hotel, while having easy access to the highway and Banff National Park.

    « A great weekend! »

The BW Pocaterra hosted our 75+ person family reunion and provided us with an exceptional venue to reconnect and relax! The rooms are spacious, immaculate and have all the conveniences you could ask for. The staff was friendly and helpful - going above and beyond expectations on several occasions. The breakfasts, pool area and general hotel amenities were excellent. We enjoyed our stay here immensely!

    « Family gathering »

Fabulous hotel! All rooms have wonderful view. Several out door seating areas with mountain views. Staff was friendly and courteous. The rooms & halls were clean. Extra facilities like laundry were appreciated for long distance travelers. The breakfast was wonderful. Excellent gathering facilities. Thank you Randy. It was best ever.

« Good base for exploring Banff National Park »

We stayed here for four nights while visiting Banff National Park. This hotel is located at the edge of town, so it's very quick to get onto the highway. It worked well for us and my kids really like the pool. The hotel décor could use an update, but everything was in good condition and very clean. Our room was a pretty good size and quiet. Hotel breakfast here is pretty average and the dining area gets very busy in the mornings. Overall, we are happy with our stay here and would come again.

    4
    « Cozy rooms! »

Opted to stay in Canmore for a family wedding. Great location, views were incredible! One thing to be noted is that during a couple nights, people's kids decided it was a great idea to run up and down the halls screaming. I can't wait to come back I the winter time!

    « Family reunion here »

This place is amazing for service and very clean. All the staff were very friendly - Randy did a great job taking care of our group. I do many events in my job - this would rate as the best over all by far - thanks to all the staff there

    « Nice but expensive »

This hotel is beautiful and I am sure in the winter even more so. Our room was large and very clean. Had a/c and a gas fireplace for winter. Breakfast is included if you can get a seat. The breakfast room is large but it is a high tourist area and was packed with standing room only ( I stood beside our table as there were no more chairs). Hard to get into the hotel as it is fronted by a oneway street. Again a high tourist area made our room almost $300 for the night. All in all it was a nice night.

    5
« Very good base for Rockies »

Generous sized rooms. Clean and with a reasonable breakfast. Easy access to highway makes this a good bet for a Rockies base. Banff is 20 mins. Calgary about an hour. Canmore is a smaller town, with perhaps less bustle than Banff, but still pretty with the mountain background. No on-site restaurant, but many good options within a ten minutes walk.

    « Beautiful Stay »

We stayed on the adult only floor in a beautiful suite with a fireplace, huge bathroom, balcony and king bed, it was perfect. Very clean and very quiet. Staff at check in and check out was very professional, polite and friendly. Wifi worked great. The breakfast included was excellent! Elevator was a little slow but that is literally the only thing wrong and really, it was not a big deal at all. We will definitely stay here again and highly recommend it.

    5
    « Family Gathering »

The pool and water slide kept the kids busy for hours while parents visited around the perimeter. Conference room in the basement was a great space for group buffet-style meals and group meetings. Location is within comfortable walking distance of numerous coffee spots and restaurants - including those downtown. The manager was very helpful and accommodating.

    5
    « Pricey »

Spent two nights here and although it's a little on the pricey side, we enjoyed our stay. Most Best Westerns provide a complimentary breakfast and this one was no different. The night desk clerk actually opened the breakfast area so that we could get our morning coffee before the breakfast room opened for business. He also gave us a few tips on what to see in the area, which we appreciated greatly.

    5
« Great hotel alternative in Banff Natl Park »

This hotel was far superior to hotels we've used previously in Banff. The room was huge with balcony, large bath, and office area. Close enough to the park to get out early and see wildlife. Adjacent McDonalds and Tim Hortons for spouse's morning gourmet caffeine fix. Canmore offers outstanding supermarkets for getting free fruits and veggies, which this hotel allows us to store. Didn't advise us to register for Best Western promotion, so we did not earn the gift cards despite repeat stays.

    5
    « Great stay »

Our 4 night stay was amazing. Tasty complimentary breakfast, clean room and great service. The front desk staff was warm and welcoming from check in to check out and the breakfast room staff were friendly and helpful every morning. I would recommend it to anyone.

    « A Great Place to Stay »

    « Great stay! »

This was a wonderful place to stay - the staff was delightful from reserving by phone, to checking in...large, clean and comfortable rooms...very close to restaurants if you are walking. Breakfast - above the norm for motel stays. Nice to be away from the many tourists in Banff, but close enough to all you want to see in the area. Canmore is beautiful!

    4
    « Consistent service »

Have stayed here a few times and it is consistently good. Friendly helpful staff and a pretty good breakfast included. Better than the Best Western in Three Hill Alberta. It has a pool for the kids and hot tub. Good size rooms

    « A Nice Find »

We left it too late to book anything in Banff and looked just outside and found this gem in Canmore. We booked two nights and weren't disappointed. We could have been paying the same prices (very high in summer and winter high seasons!) for hotels in Banff, WITHOUT air conditioning. We didn't want to chance that and glad we didn't as it was a hot week when we were there. Check in was friendly, smooth and easy. Our room was fine, two double beds and good sized bathroom facing Mountain Rd. There is an indoor pool with a water slide which is perfect for the kids. Good sized hot tub too. The complimentary breakfast is a nice feature, especially when travelling and the idea of going out for yet ANOTHER meal is tiring. We love Canmore and will defininately stay at the Pocaterra Inn again!

    4
« Great hotel close to Banff »

Banff hotels were either sold out, or non air conditioned so we chose to stay in Canmore. Price wise, it was MUCH more than we expected to stay for two nights but you have no choice during summer and winter high seasons. Hotel is clean, and welcoming. Rooms were nice and well stocked. Pool and waterslide was great for the kids. Having a hot breakfast (free!) on site every morning certainly helped make up for the cost of this hotel. Definately would stay here again.

    « Great location »

Enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Service was excellent and any issues resolved quickly. Theran at the desk did a fabulous job of checking us in. Cookies and iced tea, fruit offered in the afternoon. Room was quiet - couldn't hear any of the highway noise that some have reported. We faced the back (Mountain Ave.). While the hotel is older, there has been some renovation done. Good variety of options for the breakfast buffet. Some suggestions for improvement - wifi needs to be upgraded (was terribly slow and kept getting booted out), non-instant oatmeal at breakfast would have been a nice option, more laundry facilities (many were waiting for use of the 2 washers and dryers), decor and carpets in the hallways needs some updating. Overall, a good stay.

    « Great hotel »

I was there with my family and we have a baby so I requested the main floor room and no questions asked they really gave me that floor room as I had stayed couple times in 2009 and 2010 2011. I always choose this hotel not just because of a location but also their service is exceptional from booking to front desk to food and beverage to departure to etc etc. I love this location cause I like the Canmore town too cause not so busy and just few minutes away from Banff and lake louse . The breakfast deal is always great as my baby always gets up early morning and that made me have our breakfast in their restaurant every morning. Good food . I will definitely go back again as o love this hotel. I will be booking soon to go to October hope I find a good deal and my same room. Ha ha Cheers Ivo

« Good location for Banff »

We spent three nights here as we explored Banff. The town is just a few minutes south of Banff village and a great gateway to explore the national park. You miss the crowds and prices of Banff proper, but you are still close enough for anything you want to do. While there we bathed in the Banff springs, saw the lakes and glaciers, had fancy lunches in Banff and Lake Louise and then returned home to more modest digs at the end of the day. In the summer, days are very long so we often didn't get back to the hotel until 10 pm. There's a nice asian restaurant next door that took care of us the night we checked in.

    « Great Stay »

Clean and fresh room, nice amenities, welcoming people and service. Overall, this hotel has everything you could ask for, the pool even includes a waterslide which is a great bonus and a sauna is also in the hotel which is yet another great bonus, this hotel has everything you could ask for and more.

« Very Nice Hotel That Tries »

This is a great hotel, not sure why it isn't considered to be a Best Western Plus, as it certainly seemed like it to us. So, first off, the 'bad': -a noisy, busy pool. Plan to visit it in the morning if possible. -tight parking spaces -noisy at night. Perhaps if we were facing away from the highway, it would have been a different story? I recommend to future travelers to request a room facing away from the highway. Nothing the hotel staff can do about this, but my husband had trouble sleeping at night. I brought ear plugs and was fine, so that is another option. The Good: -very friendly staff -amazing housekeeping - absolutely immaculate. The rooms, general areas including the pool, were always very clean -large room -good environmental program - you can choose to skip housekeeping for a night or two, and get a $5 Tim Horton's or Starbucks gift card -at 4 pm the hotel staff set out drinks, fruit and cookies. One day we had white chocolate macademia nut, the other night we got double chocolate. Both were fantastic. -great breakfast buffets with lots of choices. I wrote down the hot food choices each day we were there, specifically for this review. The breakfast hot foods alternated between cheese omelet, home fries, bacon and french toast fingers on one day, cheese omelet, spicy home fries, sausages, waffles on another day; and scrambled eggs, bacon, french toast fingers and home fries on a third day. On all days, oatmeal, make your own yogourt parfait stations, a variety of delicious (read: not stale) pastries, whole fruit and fruit cup, bagels etc. were offered. Cheese omelet and spicy home fries were my least favourite, but there were many options. Coffee, hot chocolate and hot apple cider packs, and orange, apple, cranberry juices were also served, as well as water and milk. The verdict? I would happily stay here again, because of the great breakfast, fabulous housekeeping and large room. The bad things are mostly not in their control, and some can be fixed (bring ear plugs!).

    « Top notch accommodation »

Lovely property. Very comfortable and large rooms. Excellent beds. The complimentary breakfasts provided good food, nice selection. « Great stay in Canmore! »

We were accommodated at last minute,it was raining on our motorcycles on way to Yoho park.Front desk was very understanding, excellent room, comfy, hot tub was great! very hot! just what a body needs after on the road all day. A little pricey but that's Canmore. P.S. fresh cookies were a nice touch. Hey after-all it's holiday season!

« Loved our stay in Canmore! »

We loved our stay here! Rooms were really nice and spacious. Bathroom was nice and roomy, nice when you have small children. Pool was very nice & clean. Hot tub was big and hot. Not just warm like some hot tubs. Felt good on the body after hiking in Banff. We loved the steam room as well. Fresh cookies & ice tea were a hit with our children! Also if you don't need your room cleaned they offered you a $5 Tim Hortons gift card/Starbucks which we took a couple days. This hotel is in a very convenient area in Canmore as well! Hotel is a bit on the pricey side. We would stay here again! Loved it and the mountain views out our window.

    4
« Affordable Gateway To Banff National Park »

A little older than advertised but very adequate and affordable lodging. Canmore is only 15 minutes from Banff and is a nice town itself. Very good breakfast is offered and hotel is just off Highway 1.

    « Mixed Review »

This was a two week trip with 8 nights at various Best Western hotel's. As stated by other reviewers the view from each room is beautiful, surrounded by mountains, the room are very clean! Loved the large room, fireplace (although didn't use as it is summer), laminate floors instead of carpet, beds and pillows were comfy, bathroom was very clean also. Location is also a plus. Now the other side of the coin. The two gentleman working the check in must have been having a bad day as neither one bothered to welcome us to the Best Western. Both seemed rather indifferent to the fact that we had chosen this hotel to stay at. Check out was not a lot better. The breakfast was far below the standard Best Western quality level.

    5
    « Friendliest staff ever!!! »

The staff in this hotel are the nicest and most helpful we've come across on our trip. We really appreciated the great service. A special thank you to Theran who was especially helpful at check-in and provided us with tips on where to book white water rafting, cave excursions, etc. The hotel and room was very clean and comfortable. I also liked the included breakfast, the guest laundry and the laminate flooring in our room. We would definitely stay here again. Great job to all staff! Thank you!

« Hotel is great. Rooms are comfortable and modern decor »

At first we were a bit worried that the hotel was so close to the highway but you did not hear any noise at all. It actually made it easier to go on outings to Banff, Lake Louise, etc., because you are close to the highway. The rooms are lovely. Spacious and comfortable and beautiful décor. Easy walk to downtown Canmore. Staff were great. The breakfast was typical hotel breakfast, not my favourite but good if your in rush to leave in the morning.

    « Nice Basic Hotel »

Really no complaints. Place was clean and well maintained. Would stay here again without hesitation. Easy to get to from highway. There is a Tim Hortons right next door for a quick breakfast. Plenty of parking.

    « Excellent »

This is a great Best Western. I love Best Western for their good rates, complementary breakfast, and great rewards program. This one is clean, very up to date, and stylish. It has an indoor pool with water slide, steam room, and fitness center. Staff was friendly and helpful. They have free fruit and cookies to snack on as well. Standard room was large and had a fireplace in it. I would definitely stay here again.

    4
    « Good Location »

The room was beautiful! My only regret was that it was too warm to use the fireplace. Only a few minor issues such as missing a laundry bag, wifi was on the slow side, and the cot we requested wasn't set up. All little things. My only real complaint was the amount of time the guest laundry took, that dryer made me get to bed really late that night. All in all, I would definitely stay here again. The location was great and the staff was very friendly and professional.

« A nice retreat among the mountains. »

Greatly surprised by what we got. Really nice large room with balcony and fireplace. Did not deter being on the parking lot- it was heaven after hiking all day in the mountains. Staff are exceptional and it just has a real nice layout. Would definitely stay here again. Mountain views next time.

« Excellent place to stay during Banff vacation! »

We stayed here for three nights, July 6-9. I booked the room using Air Miles and paid $10 extra per night for an upgraded room that included a balcony (2nd floor). The view from each room is beautiful, surrounded by mountains. I'm a picky hotel'er so believe me when I say this room was clean! Loved the large room, fireplace (although didn't use as it is summer), laminate floors instead of carpet, beds and pillows were super comfy, bathroom was very clean too. As others have commented, if you opt out of the daily housecleaning, you can pick up your $5 Tim Hortons or Starbucks gift card each night at the front desk. Nice incentive to reduce overhead costs and the environment impact. We used the hot tub which was super hot (instead of luke warm hot tubs you sometimes get). There is a steam room and sauna too, which looked fine but we didn't use. Our first night we are dinner in Canmore. Day two we toured Banff which is only about an easy 15-20 minute drive away. We left the hotel in the morning, came back for an afternoon nap and then headed back to Banff for supper. Day three we drove to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. We loved the slower pace of the Bow Valley Parkway and even saw a bear on the way. That drive was about 45 minutes from the hotel. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in Canmore again. It would be nice to stay right in Banff and be walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping but the high price of hotels there restricted us from doing that. We were very happy with our decision to be at the BW Pocaterra Inn instead. It certainly met all of our needs and then some. Breakfast each day was typical Best Western food such as alternating days of scrambled eggs or omelet, waffle or French toast. But I must say it was the most clean and organized of any BW I've stayed at. Loved the fruit salad too.

    5
    « Well Situated. »

This is a very welcoming hotel, all the staff are friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and well appointed with plenty of space, a balcony and a mountain view. Great to sit there and just look at the view. The breakfast room was large, clean and well maintained and the breakfast was very good and catered for most tastes. It is well situated if you want somewhere in between the Rockies and Calgary, twenty minutes to Banff, and just over the hour either way to Lake Louise or Calgary, with plenty of places in-between to stop and explore. We have stayed in several places in and around Canmore and to date this is the best. We would certainly stay here again.

« Family Wedding in Mountains »

We had an amazing setting for my niece's wedding and with many of us staying at the Best Western Pocaterra Inn for a reasonable rate given a long weekend in Canmore, we were thrilled with our accommodations, great breakfast, and great staff at this hotel.

    « Excellent Hotel »

We reserved about 6-7 months before our trip. We received very good rate to stay 6 nights. The hotel facility is awesome, in-door swimming pool, Jacuzzi, water slide, sauna, gym, etc. It's about 12 minutes driving to Banff town, but we only pay half of those hotels in Banff. The staffs are extremely friendly. We just had one problem. Fire alarm evacuation in the morning of the day we checked-out. It took all of us evacuated outside of hotel for about 45 minutes.

    5
    « Loved it!!! »

We stayed at the Best Western Pocaterra for 3 nights on a trip out west and wished we had stayed here for the whole week. It was amazing. The view of the mountains from our balcony was nothing short of magical. The room was clean and lovely with French doors going into the bathroom to a jacuzzi tub with a picture window over it that also has a mountain view. We had a fireplace, a frig and microwave, and a keurig coffee maker, everything we needed. The breakfast was included and was the best breakfast we have ever had at a Best Western with bacon, eggs, hash brown potatoes, pancakes, cereals, yogurts and a huge bowl of fresh fruit for anyone that wanted a healthier choice. The breakfast staff were very friendly and efficient keeping everything full constantly. We were given the choice to make our own beds and re use our towels and not have a maid come in, which we chose. In turn we were given a $5 Tim card everyday which was right beside and very useful when going for a drive to see the sights. The staff was more than accommodating if we needed shampoos or soaps at any point of the day. They had fresh baked cookies in the lobby later in the day, which my husband looked forward to running down to get some as soon as we were back to the hotel. We travel a fair bit and highly recommend this hotel. We will definitely return if ever in Alberta again.

« Swimming pool is great for the kids! »

Nice hotel and room with incredible view of the mountains. The swimming pool and water slide was great for the kids. They offered free cookies, coffee and ice water upon check in which the kids love. Nice lobby area and outdoor patio. Best Western beds are not comfortable. The service was average. The hot complimentary breakfast was also very average in terms of food quality. Parking is included. There are washers and dryers for use at a minimal cost which was great. Although Canmore is very small, being downtown would have been nice. This hotel is a little out of the way. It was a great option for the price compared to other available properties.

    « Nice Hotel »

Stayed for 4 nights on a road trip to the Rockies, nice comfortable hotel, great rooms on 4th floor, big bathroom , nice bed and all amenities required for your stay, had a problem with the blind in the bathroom which was promptly replaced, excellent service from all the staff, nice indoor pool with a gym and sauna. Good selection of food for breakfast with enough choices for all . Would fully recommend this hotel.

« Very good value for money to visit the Banff area »

As the hotels in Banff were quite expensive we have booked this Best Western in the next city. It is more or less 30 minutes drive from the centre of Banff but you get much more value for your money! For us it was the perfect stop after visiting Banff National park and it is also perfect if you would like to drive to Glacier National park the day after (or vice versa). Also a very nice breakfast!

    5
    « Location- location -location »

This hotel is clean ,nice size rooms and beds were comfortable, staff helpful and friendly. Because you are staying at a international tourist area the cost for the room is more expensive compared to the exact same quality in other Best Western Hotels in other less famous locations!!!! Breakfast was the exception We were offered excellent variety, good quality food , and all freshly made . Over -all location and Breakfast made it worth the stay.

    « Popular motel - very busy »

Stayed 2 nights from 28 May 2016 Busy place ? nice rooms with good beds and shower. Generous sized bathroom and nicely appointed room with a gas fire - too warm to use it though. My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the indoor pool and water slide. Just a short drive into Banff and much better prices out at Canmore. Various food options close by too.

« Ideally located for a Banff visit »

Situated close to the Trans Canada Highway (but far enough from traffic noises), the Pocaterra Inn is a perfect spot for those looking to visit Banff and yet not pay the higher hotel fees in Banff. It takes about 20 mins to get to Banff and you could continue to drive further west if you are going to visit other places such as Lake Louise. Back to the hotel. We were four adults and a 3 year old in a room, so I might be biased when I say the room was just sufficient. Facilities wise, the room comes with a Microwave, a Fridge and a coffee maker. Would have loved a kitchenette, considering that the hotel doesn't have any restaurant and most restaurants are in the core Canmore area. The morning buffet breakfast is ample and the staff are prompt in restocking. We didn't have any issues with the breakfast area overcrowding, but I do see that happening during the peak season. The waterslide, pool and spa-pool is a nice bonus. They are well serviced by nearby changing rooms and sufficient towels. A quick swim before breakfast helps to build a good appetite and load up on the sugar. The sugar rush doesn't have to stop - later in the day, fruits and cookies are available near the reception. (Traveller Tip - don't miss the cookies, they are delicious) Parking & WiFi are free. If you wanted to relax and watch TV, you have a decent bouquet to choose from. If you want to stock up on snacks, there is a Safeway supermarket, which is open about a kilometer from the hotel. Would recommend this hotel to folks planning to visit Banff/Lake Louise for being a pretty good hotel that gives you freedom to explore without having to drive too far.

« Great choice for a multi-day visit in Canmore. »

This property is fresh and nicer than many Best Western's (which can be variable). The staff was helpful, professional and pleasant. Our room (118) was very clean and well equipped. Of note the HVAC was quiet and did continually switch on and off. The breakfast area was refreshingly spacious, with a good choices. The breakfast staff kept right on top of the food and the clean-up. As has been mentioned before, the parking spaces are a little small, if you are in a rental car and concerned about new door dents. I would definitely stay here on my next visit to Canmore.

Travelling with two labrador dogs it is exceptional to be welcomed so well into a first class hotel with excellent roomy and tasteful accomodation quickly and with no fuss.Location is convenient to the highway and b uilding with balconies easy to access. A fireplace in the room adds to the comfort. A very good breakfast comers with thr room along with a selection of papers to read. All in all one of the best places to stay in Canmore.

    « Nice hotel - lovely rooms - get a high floor »

Poor check in - I was waiting 5 mins before the check in person got someone else to help. No acknowledgment of wait and no explanation of where facilities were. Room was on first floor facing highway 1 - balcony was directly by the main entrance so we didn't feel able to sit out unless we wanted to be directly in front of a coach tour group or all the people checking in. I would suggest facing away from highway 1 at the pool end of the hotel. The room itself was lovely - recently renovated and finished to a high standard. Beds were really comfortable and everything was clean. Fireplace was a nice touch and I imagine in winter would be great. We competed with the tour group at breakfast so it was difficult to get a table but there was plenty of food to go around so we weren't left hungry! Overall it's a good hotel - check in needs work and I personally wouldn't pick a hotel with coach parties as it gets too busy when they arrive and leave but the room we had was great - Canmore is only 10km outside Banff so perfect as a base. All in all the room more than made up for the small inconveniences and for one night was a good choice.

« Most comfortable bed I have ever slept in »

We were so pleasantly surprised with this hotel. Breakfast was delicious, location was perfect, staff were friendly, and the bed was amazing. It was seriously the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. Wished we would have stayed more nights. Highly recommend!!

    « Canadian Park Vacation »

The hotel had many useable amenities, but that wasn't the purpose of our visit. We were out more than we were in. So, we didn't use the amenities which probably cause the price. The front staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The breakfast staff was too busy to say much and their warm serving wasn't. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay and a very nice hotel otherwise. One suggestion would be to make the spaces in the parking lot wider. Not everyone is good at staying inside the lines.

    « A great place to stay »

We were really pleased with the accommodation and facilities. The hotel was spotless and comfortable and we appreciated all the attention to details. We did not use housekeeping as we were delighted to make use of the $5 Tim Hortons gift card instead - what a good idea! There were free cookies, fruit and a cold drink available mid afternoon in the Reception area. Although there were safety deposit boxes at Reception, we would have preferred one in our room. A special mention is needed for the breakfast choices and the staff that constantly worked hard, keeping everything replenished. It was a lovely start to the day. We stayed on the 3rd floor, with a magnificent view of the mountains. It was nice to be able to open the window to get some of the fresh air. We would not hesitate to choose the Best Western again when we return to Canmore.

« Looking for Hotel on a Budget? Search No More! »

Normally when we hear about Best Western we think about budget chain hotels, but this one is really quite different. Set within walking distance to the main part of Canmore (or most likely you'll be driving anyway), Best Western Pocaterra feels more exquisite compared to the other hotels of this series. I'm not sure about the other rooms, but the room we had got was facing the main road (not the highway, but the road where you turn into the hotel) and (despite that) overlooking the Rockies. It was our first night into the Rockies and we had driven in in the evening, so imagine our pleasant surprise when we woke up to see the majestic mountains looming over us. Breakfast was another memorable affair. Sumptuous and definitely contains the best range that we had had throughout our Rockies tour. Other essentials that were provided were fast wifi and free parking right at the lobby doorsteps. Only complaint I have is that the coffee machine was quite dirty, so we stuck to tap water instead. Overall though we're very impressed with this hotel (once again it stands up particularly against other Best Westerns), and were lamenting not staying for more nights because of this.

An excellent experience--The room was very comfortable. The fireplace added a special touch. The staff were most helpful in every way. The breakfast was bountiful with many choices. An ideal place for a return visit.

« comfortable stay, friendly staff »

Friendly staff, clean rooms. I really liked that is was "wood" flooring in the rooms and not carpet. Rooms were spasious and had a kitchenette. We will definitely we staying here next time we are in Canmore. Hotel is a good value for your money. There is a pool with a slide as well as a hot tube. I think the sauna and steam room are not quite up to par, but nice to have them as options. Breakfast staff was always on the ball and kept the hot food stocked quickly, and kept the dining room clean and organized. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

« Comfortable and ready to please »

4 of us stayed here on a mini vacation to Banff. The view of the mountains all around the hotel is a sight to behold. Close to Banff only 10 minutes away. Room was not what we had asked for, but was changed to the proper room immediately. The pool had a water slide that was great for the kids and a large hot tub for us older folks. Breakfast in the morning was good with a good variety. Could have had the eggs and sausages in a warmer holding bin but it was buffet style .....that says it all.

    « Decent stay. »

When we first arrived at our room, I noticed the door wasn't actually fully closed - I was able to push it open without the key. We made note of this for the rest of the stay and made sure the door was pulled closed all the time. The rooms were clean and quiet with large bathrooms and comfortable beds. We had a room on the third floor facing the highway and never had any problem with the traffic noise. I liked that you could let the front desk know if you didn't want your room made up. We only stayed 2 nights, seems a waste to have the sheets and towels replaced for that.

    « Overnight on a long drive »

Hotel is conveniently located near the Trans Canada Highway and is easy to locate. pretty typical of a Best Western property. Rooms are clean and quiet. Large, well run breakfast room. Only problem noticed was that one is forbidden from taking any food or drink from the eating area. We stay in many Best Western hotels and my wife doesn't always like the breakfast room crowds early so usually take a tray up to the room and return when done, never a problem anywhere else.

« good spot (15 mins to banff), nice clean hotel, cheaper than banff: worth it! »

-great breakfast -close to banff (15 minute drive) -super nice staff -worth staying here and paying less, than in town -free parking: only negative is the fact that the parking spots are TINY! We had an suv and were continuously nervous when parking it in the half-a-car-spots. -clean, large rooms, clean bathrooms Overall, a nice experience, i would stay here again and recommend it to anyone!

    « Wonderful Breakfast! »

We just stayed at the Canmore Pocaterra Inn for a couple of nights. We were pleasantly surprised by the selection and quality of the breakfast provided. Something for many tastes and preferences. The fruit salad was very good, along with many choices of hot or cold breakfast options. Loved the lavender and lemon natural soap in the bathroom in our room. Comfortable sleep and great views of the mountains.

    « Awesome »

My wife and I came for 2 nights to the best Western to celebrate our anniversary. When booking our room we asked for the fourth floor room 404 which is a beautiful spacious suite with an awesome view. When entering into the room it has all the amenities you will ever need. Gas fireplace in 2 rooms, two large screen TVs, en suite bath room with Jacuzzi tub, double sink, shower. Even the TV remote controls are sanitized and wrapped. The hot buffet breakfast downstairs truly is the best breakfast buffet that we have been to! Everything you want or need for breakfast is there at your fingertips. The city of Canmore has many fine restaurants to eat and other restaurants that are quite inexpensive. If you want Safeway and save on foods is close by to bring a meal up or groceries to your room. Check in with fast convenient and friendly. The room was very clean and The king size canopy bed comfortable. An awesome stay which we will come back!

« This is a great hotel and great value. »

This is the 4th or 5th time we have stayed at this hotel. We love the rooms. King size bed, fireplace, and some of the rooms have a jacuzzi tub. It is great for a romantic weekend away. The breakfast is included and it is stellar with hot and cold food - so much choice. Very friendly staff.

« Good stay all around »

our stay this past weekend was a good one, the staff run the property with care and take care of your needs, from the cookies in the afternoon to the 4 hour breakfast, a person can get a second eating session in if they choose, the only complaint i have really is the parking lot, very cramped, can hardly get in nor out of your vehicle, other than that good stuff.

On check in, we were given a below ground facing a straight on drive way. A ventilation fan right out side our door that blew till midnight. The walls are so thin you can here the folks next talking among other things.

    « Great Stay! »

Love this property! Great location if you want to stay away from the train tracks that go through town. Great Staff! Room was clean and had fridge/microwave/coffeemaker. Lots of room and good size bathroom. The fireplace wasn't working so we asked for assistance and a gentleman came up right away and fixed it. However, we went out for the day and when we tried to turn it on after getting back to the room it didn't work again. I decided to not call for a repair again because thought it would probably not work again after turning it off. So...didn't use the fireplace. Also, you can not bring food from the Breakfast Room back to your room (this would be nice when you don't want to eat in that room). Still had a great stay!

Great place to stay and not on the tracks! :) modern hotel, good breakfast, would definitely recommend, for family the water slide is great. Walking distance to many good restaurants. If you want an easy hike try the grassy lakes hike, takes about 60 minutes up and back.

    « Top 10? »

I am so shocked this hotel is in the top 10 list of hotels in Canmore AB. I have stayed in many hotels in many different categories and this is by far one of the very worst hotels I have ever stayed in. Check in was absolutely horrendous. As we were travelling with 2 small children we requested an early check in which was denied--in fact it was late. The pool and area was disgustingly filthy and the staff were not accommodating or polite. The manager's "I-can-do-no-wrong" attitude is very evident in all of their replies on this website, as a matter of fact. I witnessed it in person but when I read the responses on every negative entry on trip advisor, the condescending attitude of the management is very noticeable. Rooms were covered in the previous people's hair and the free breakfast was microwaved frozen food. No thanks! Never again in my life would I ever stay here or recommend it to anyone. I'm looking forward to being belittled in their response to this negative review. Ready. Set. Go!

    « Quick Spring getaway »

This hotel was very convenient and a decent price. Check in was quick and easy, although we were not able to check in early. Front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel was very clean and tidy. Free wi-fi which worked fine Our room had a lovely mountain view with a balcony with a table and 2 chairs. A wonderful surprise was that there wasn't any carpet, all laminate and tile. Great for my son and husband who suffer from allergies. Also, so much cleaner. The room itself was very clean. The cleanliness of the bathroom was impecible. Bed sheets, blankets and pillows not only looked clean but smelled freshly washed as well. Room was a good size, no couch but had 2 beds and a table with 2 chairs. All seemed to be in good condition. The beds and pillows, however, were very uncomfortable. WAY to soft, no support whatsoever. My husband and I did not sleep very well because of this. Our son slept fine but he is 7 and can sleep anywhere. We were next to the elevator and didn't hear any noise. Rooms seemed pretty sound proof. Water pressure is not great for hair washing but I am used to this in hotels and was prepared for it. Breakfast buffet was wonderful! Many, many options. Both healthy and not healthy. the area was kept very clean and fully stocked. Fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, dry cereal, oatmeal, bacon, scrambled eggs, sausage, waffles, breads and pasteries, tea, coffee, juice, water. The water was really good. It is an odd thing to compliment but I was pleasantly surprised, haha. GYm area was small but very clean and everything worked. Pool was a big hit. The waterslide was lots of fun and a big hit with my son. Hot tub is a good size as well. Lots of places to sit but beware of inconsiderate guests who stake claim to most of them even if they do not need them. 2 washers and 2 dryers worked fine and took a loonie and a quarter each. Parking places seemed a little small but we have a bit of a wider vehicle. Tim Hortons and McDonalds/Esso gas station are right next door. Also, a restraunt called Craigs however we could never seem to catch that open, even at 5:00pm and it didnt have any hours of operation in the the door so dont rely on that place. There is also a small playground next door on the opposite side for smaller children. This hotel is close to the highway so getting in and out of Canmore is quick. Check out was also quick and easy and friendly. TIP: Elevator is the slowest thing I have ever seen. If you dont need to use it, take the stairs. Take advantage of the $5 Tims/Starbucks gift card option and dont have your room cleaned every day. Overall, great stay but will probably not stay again simply because we did not sleep due to the uncomfortableness of the beds/pillows.

Very friendly and inviting staff. Therran was working the front desk when we arrived and was the most helpful and caring he could be. Also, the lady training the new employee was very helpful. She went out of her way to make us a tea and coffee in the front lobby. Very impressed with how the staff handles their guests. Would recommend for anyone in canmore. Amazing rooms by the way!

« Nice BW with Character »

Very well located and unique BW property. Large rooms with fireplace, some with balcony, comfy beds clean and very well lit rooms. Full hot free breakfast, indoor pool and internet that works, you really can't ask for anything more than that. Great stay in a unique hotel and by the way they are pet friendly which is a huge bonus for us. Only downside is parking is less than adequate later in the day. We will be back!

    « Great Value »

We stay at this hotel quite often as it is great for the entire family. The kids love the pool and water slide. We also get a hot and fresh breakfast each morning!! Very clean and nice hotel. It is within walking distance to other places to eat as well. Parking can get tight if arriving into the evening.

« Happy Birthdy to you too Randy, whenever that is. »

Last minute overnight Pre-Birthday gift from a friend. We called from Calgary before noon to book the more than reasonable online rate. Got $5 off for calling! My friend yelled Happy Birthday when I verbally confirmed the reservation. Randy said Happy Birthday to me too and when I asked what time we could check in he said the room was ready for us whenever we arrived. Without breaking any speed laws, we gathered our things and arrived just after 2:00. Randy greeted me by name and said welcome back. Check in was less than 5 minutes. That included an upgrade to a room with a balcony and fireplace. God bless you, Randy! Turning to go to our room, I commented to my friend that I forgot my bathrobe for walking to the pool so would have to do the unfasionable T shirt thing in the halls and elevator. Because my purple fluffy bathrobe is so fasionable! Randy had 2 robes delivered to our room before the "who gets which bed" coin toss. The rooms all have hardwood floors. Sooo much cleaner and cleaner feeling. Carpets are often shiny and crunch when you walk on them. Beds (2 Queen) had 4 pillows each, super soft sheets and duvet, many towels and much product in the bathroom, Microwave, fridge and coffeemaker. After asking the next nice young man at the front desk after Randy left (sorry, not wearing my glasses) he let us fetch a few plates and forks from the breakfast room for our later snacking needs. On the way to the pool we encountered 3 seperate staff members who each said a friendly hello and asked if there was anything they could do for us. Unfortunatly I didn't wear my glasses to the pool so I cannot name them but they answered our questions about the food festival going on at the time and somehow also knew to wish me a Happy Birthday. I've never been here before during low occupancy and the staff was just as nice as always. We chatted with various staff members and they are so sincerily dedicated to their work. There was obviously a Spring Cleaning going on, but the little details they were attending to (scrubbing those corners in the ends of hallways, changing linens in rooms unoccupied for more than X number of days for example) really impressed us. Obviously we had the pool and sauna and steam room to ourselves so plenty of towels and all areas were spotless. My friend was wildly impressed by the breakfast. As a past CP employee (Jasper, Banff Springs, Palliser) he really appriciated the food presentation from the perspective of cleanliness. Tastiness too. Food is presented in a manner that encourages use of tongs instead of fingers and kept at proper temperatures. For example, the fruit salad is kept chilled and the dry cereal is in dispeners. The breakfast room is bright and well organized. The fact there is not a restaurant onsite is actually a plus for this location. Restaurant troubles can wreck everything for everyone. Why compete with all the wonderful food available nearby and in town when you don't have to? There are cookies and fruit and coffee/tea/hot chocolate available in the lobby and a very good variety of vending machine options It really was such a treat to be here when the place is not packed to the rafters. The service is always at an excellent standard but it was so nice to actually talk to people knowing we were not keeping them from attending to other guests or interfering with their work. We had such a nice stay. The entire property was immaculate. I look forward to my next visit.

« Great place in mountains »

We stayed at this location in April and found the price to be awesome. In summer however, it almost doubles and we wouldn't pay that much for this hotel. It is right near a restaurant, mcdonalds, gas station but is a little bit of a walk to the towns center... not much but a bit.

« Good hotel if you have chidren »

We were very happy with our room and service. The only problem we had was the amount of children in the hotel running up and down the hallways. This is not the problem with the hotel but with the parents.

    « Spring break getaway »

Upon arriving at the hotel, I was concerned at the close proximity to Hwy 1, however, once inside it was not noticeable. The exterior of the hotel looks a little tired, but inside is completely different. We spent most of our visit submerged in the pool (which is great for kids), and relaxing playing games in our King Suite room. Two things to bear in mind, the elevator is extremely slow, and seems to enjoy visiting every floor, despite no one being at that level to get in (or else they gave up waiting and left)! Aside from with luggage, if you are able bodied, take the stairs. This next part is VERY important. When visiting the pool, there are comfortable chairs around all sides. Unless you like being in a major splash zone (all of you and your belongings will get washed everytime a teenager or adult exit the slide) DO NOT park yourself and belongings directly opposite the end of the waterslide. As 'entertaining' as it is watching people unknowingly enter the splash zone (unmarked) do the decent thing and tell them to move quickly!

« Perfect for the family »

We have are a family of 3. Our 6.5 year old son Loves this hotel because of the pool and slide. I think it would be hard to beat this location and atmosphere when it comes to family oriented. The breakfast room is staff with 3 earnest staff who work hard to make sure all the food is fresh, filled and the area is clean. The breakfast spread is plentiful and I was able to find gluten and dairy free foods. It's an unexpected treat to also have a different spread made each morning. The work out room is CLEAN, and all the equipment seems new and well maintained; I just used the mat area ( I have my own 3lbs weights I brought as they do not have free weights here, but I believe it's due to a safety/theft issue). They offer a great incentive of $5 Tim Hortons or Starbucks gift cards when you opt out of housecleaning for the next morning, but being someone who likes their coffee black, the 100% Columbian coffee they brew in the morning is just as good or better so we are saving those for food, not coffee (they offer to go coffee cups). The lobby area is large and open comfy leather seating with a new pile of The National to read at your leisure, and in the afternoon offers free cookies and juice (while quantities last). The front desk staff are friendly curtious and knowledgeable about Canmore and Banff locations and events. The hotel doesn't have a playground, but with the neighbouring one hosting a decent one, we walked right over and enjoy the fresh air. On the other side of the hotel there is access to Tim Hotons and McDonalds (no playground at this McDonalds as it is tiny). The last aspect I'm going to talk about is our room. They only have 2 of the queen and Single bed rooms, one is pet friendly, and one is not. We stayed in the non pet room (this is our second stay at the hotel in the same room). I love this room as it's also considered accessible and the bathroom is extremely large. It's so large that when we put our son to sleep, we hamper down in there with two chairs and the bench (to put our feet up) and play on our iPads while our son is in the dark room nestling in his bed. There is a lovely fireplace and arm chair in this room that allow for cozy night readings. The balcony off this room make unpacking and repacking the vehicle easy as the parking lot is right there. And after, we enjoy a lovely lunch on the bistro set over looking the Three Sisters Mountain. One thing, which may be worth mentioning if you have longlocks like mine are to bring your own blow dryer, the one provided will not do the job. But if that's the only suggestion, I'd have to say that this hotel is an A!

    « fun stay »

My family of 5 and another family (4) stayed at this hotel as part of a weekend getaway to Banff. My family skied all day at Sushine the Saturday with plans for both families to go tubing the next day at Norquay. Check in was quick and staff were very friendly. The room was a large enough size for a cot (which the fellow at the front desk brought as he was laving from his shift! Very accommodating) and as we also had our 2 dogs, the kennel as well. We chose this location for its proximity to Banff without being in the park where rooms seem to be quite a bit more expensive. Also, considered was that it had a pool with a slide, which the kids really enjoyed! While the adults had a dip in the hot tub (pool?). This location had a complimentary breakfast, always appreciated when travelling with kids and another family. This way the early risers aren't starving while while waiting for the low pokes to get up. It was decent, with all the usual offerings (sausage, scrambled eggs, French toast, yoghurt, pastries, juices, coffee, tea, milk, etc). check out was also quick and again the staff friendly. Good stay!

Very pleasant stay, staff very friendly. Breakfast fantastic, eggs, bacon, breads, muffins, bagels, yogurt, fruit, cereals. We don't normally stay at a Best Western as we find them a little over priced for what you get, but not the case with this one, we booked with 1395 air miles.

They were quick to help us with anything we needed and I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Thank you!!!

    « Pocaterra's Piece of Heaven »

After a long trip with many hotels without rooms available, I returned, once again, to the Pocaterra in Canmore. The staff were so pleasant and pleased that a guest picked their hotel. I was upgraded to a lovely suite on the Adult Only floor which was absolutely wonderful. The bed was so comfy. The breakfast was fabulous. All around, this is always a great place to stay with very reasonable rates!

« Clean, Friendly and excellent value »

The hotel was better than I had thought. Staff were great. Room was a great size for our party of four adults. Bathroom was big and very clean. Breakfast had a large variety of food, eggs, bacon, hash browns, muffins, toast, bagels, juices, coffee and tea. We had one person with dietary needs and they were happy to accommodate. The bed was a bit too hard for me but that is a personal preference. We did not use the water slide or hot tub but I can see it being great if you travel with your children. It looked well looked after. The location was good with just a short 5 minute drive to downtown Canmore. Great value for the money.

« Clean, Friendly, quiet and Great location, excellent value! »

Pleasantly surprised! This hotel was very clean, updated and nicely laid out. Not only greeted with friendly desk staff, but also warm cookies! We stayed only one night but would consider a longer stay now that we've tried it out. We drove from Calgary for a family night away. The room had a nice view, fireplace, mini-bar and Countertop which was useful for kids snacks and a few light food items we had. The beds were comfy and I liked that the pillows were a few different sizes to accommodate kids and adults. The pool was very clean, warm and had a waterslide! Kids loved it, and took full advantage, so much so that we lost track of time & checked out late! The staff were understanding and kind and didn't make us feel rushed, whew! We enjoyed the breakfast (included) which featured not just cereal and cold options but also hot food. Eggs, sausages, waffles and potatoes which were warm and tasted good. We were a very short walk to McDonald's, Tim Horton's and snack shops too. Overall, we would recommend this hotel.

    « Very good »

We were able to check in early which was nice our daughter was able to go and enjoy the pool. We were on ground level which was nice and close to the pool. Room was nice, clean, renovated and specious. Breakfast was great. Lots of choices and they offered gluten free cereal. We enjoyed it every morning. There it two things we didn't like about the hotel. I asked the front desk about the fan in the bathroom and they said they would send someone to look at it. Two days later I asked the front desk about it and the guy at the front desk told me sorry we don't have fans in the bathrooms so I am not sure why someone told you they would look at it. Fan is in the bathroom so I am not sure if they disconnected it and don't use them any more. They need working fans in the bathroom... Also our house keeper came in changed garbage and made our beds but didn't sweep or wash the floor. After being there for 2 days we needed a vacuum. Brown laminate floors show everything. Swimming pool is nice and warm. Slide is great and hot time is good size. Best part about the hotel is free cookies and hot chocolate they offer for everyone at the lobby around 4:00p.m Great snack after skiing or swimming. We will return to the hotel

We stayed here as a group 20 rooms booked approx. hotel offered free breakfast and also allowed us to use the same room as an informal hospitality suite. Kids loved the water slide and pool. I stayed here a few months ago while I attended a conference in Banff. The commute to and from Banff was nothing, well worth the savings that I was able to get over staying at the location of the conference. Luxury vinyl flooring was great, much prefer it over carpet. The room was a good size with everything that a business traveller would need. Solid wifi, blu tooth radio, flat screen TV with HD channels and a pool!. Would definitely stay here again.

We booked for the reading week break to enjoy both Canmore and take side trips to Banff...great idea. The location of the hotel is away from the railway line which makes for a quiet stay. Our room which had a fireplace was spacious with comfortable beds and the laminate flooring was a nice change. The hot breakfast buffet which is included is fantastic for our family while the pool area with water slide and hot tub, gym, dry sauna and steam room were added bonuses to this location. For an added perk, and environmental benefits let the front desk know if you don't need housekeeping the next day and get a $5 gift card to Tim Hortons or Star Bucks....nice! Staff was very gracious and kind during our entire visit....

« Our favorite in Canmore »

This is our hotel of choice in Canmore. We've stayed at several and the kids prefer the waterslide here. The hot tub is huge. Breakfast is great. Lots of choice. Cereals/Toasts/Bacon/Eggs/FrenchToast. Rooms are always clean and updated.

    « Very nice. »

Really nice hotel. 5 nights here was my Christmas bonus this year, and I doubt I would pay so much for a stay here. The pool and wifi are good and the breakfast is nice. It's not a continental, it's a full breakfast. - 1 because our room was a bit noisy, but not unacceptable.

    « Excellent »

Great hotel, really enjoyed the clean room and great breakfast. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. We will be back for sure! We stayed for two nights and found everything to be great. The room was really clean with wood floor, no rug which was nice. It had a fireplace in the corner that we could adjust the heat. A microwave and fridge came in handy for our snacks and drinks.

    « Friendly staff & great location »

Hotel is located in an awesome spot close to restaurants and the shopping areas, but also not in the middle of all the craziness. The check in and check out was awesome and the staff member that helped us was very friendly and personable. Breakfast was great but the eggs in these kinds of breakfasts are always a little funky. ( doesnt really matter where you go ) Parking is congested so if you have a larger vehicle and the hotel is booked up you may have to park somewhere else and walk over because the spots that get left are small enough for a smart car ( haha )

    « Wonderful Stay! »

Such a great stay! The pool and waterslide was great and the room was awesome! The breakfast that was included in the room was very good as well. The staff was very friendly and hotel was very clean. Will return again next time family is in town!

« Great Best Western Hotel »

This was our second stay at this facility in the past four months, we loved it both times. Very large, modern and clean rooms, together with an excellent hot/cold continental breakfast, its also reasonably priced. It has a wonderful pool and hot tub, that we enjoyed on several occasions. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, and being close to Banff makes this B.W. a very desirable location.

    « Great Hotel! »

This hotel was great location to everything and not far from banff! The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The breakfast had many different options the pool was a little cold for a baby but good for adults, and the rooms was a great size.

    « Never again! »

Took my daughters and grand-children for a day in Banff and Canmore and stayed at the Best Western Pocaterra in Canmore. We had two rooms. The fireplace, air conditioner, bar fridge and blowdryer failed to work in one room and the other room had no heat. The lack of air conditioning and the lack of heat were both only discovered in the wee hours. When we reported this to the front desk in the morning, they said we "should have called in the middle of the night." No apology was ever received. The attitude of every person we encountered was dismissive and full of attitude. They offered a 15% discount on our next visit. There will be no next visit!

« Amazing hotel for conferences & retreats »

I have booked conferences and retreats at the Pocaterra for years now. They staff are always fabulous, although seems that management is hard to come by (they rotate people through often). The rooms are well maintained and very clean. Breakfast is fabulous (HOT continental) but on weekend mornings it can get crowded and busy. My kids love the water slide and the hot tub is a great size, able to accommodate many.

    « Amazing Rooms »

I loved how Louie and his housekeeping team was so wonderful; our rooms were amazing! We where at Best Western for the holiday season and i never saw a room so clean. The front desk agent and its Supervisors looked a bit confused when we asked simple question but the lobby; pool and breakfast was amazing Best Western is the best place to stay in Canmore

    « Good Value »

We have stayed here previously as it is pet friendly, clean and has pool and hot tub we use. Some breakfast items were put out everyday so were dry, but fresh and packaged options were also available. Friendly helpful staff.

« Excellent stay for a busy time of the year »

Overall a great experience. Friendly and professional staff, clean and beautifully decorated hotel. Conveniently located and easy to find. Room decor is very contemporary and the fireplace accents the rustic, mountain character.

    « Nice Hotel »

We decided to spend our Christmas holidays skiing. The Western plus was our choice. Nice hotel clean and organized. Breakfast does not offer a great variety, no cheese selection, but it was enough to start an adventurous day. The hotel offers an indoor swimming pool with a waterslide, however the chlorine in the water was so much that its smell was reaching the reception area. Parking is at no extra charge. All in all it was a good stay, but the front desk staff seamed to be over stressed and were nit too friendly! Maybe it was the Christmas rush!

« A pleasant surprise with super views »

Our last night in the Rockies and we did not know what to expect from Canmore. we were very pleasantly surprised. The quality of the hotel was good, the room was big enough and the breakfast has a good variety. What really makes this hotel is the view..... stunning!

    3
    « Good For Families »

We stayed at this hotel a few times and it has been consistently good, but not great. The rooms are larger. The cable sucks. It has like 15 channels. The free breakfast is great. I think it's slightly over prices during the high season. 180$/night is too much.

    5
« Best Western in the Rockies. »

Outstanding in every respect. An awesome hotel in a beautiful environment. Well done Best Western. Pocatello is #1 in every way. Thanks to the staff for making our stay enjoyable. The pool is an excellent facility for the family. Rooms are exceptionally well done with a great decor. Canmore is a beautiful spot for all to take in.

« An overnight stay on a wintery day »

The service and staff at the hotel are excellent. What attracted me to the hotel was the reviews stated on this site and I have to agree with all that was said. We had a restful night with no noticeable noise (maybe we were lucky because one or two inconsiderable guests can mess that up). While the address for the hotel is on Mountain Avenue the entrance is actually on Bow Valley Trail. This caused a problem with the app on my IPhone as their directions did not work. So stay on Bow Valley Trail and you'll find it on the north side just west of the Boston Pizza

    « Day after departure »

The weather was damn cold with a fresh snowfall. The parking lot was slowed and the sidewalks shovelled. We found our room to be very clean and tidy. The staff were all pleasant and polite and very helpful! Breakfast was great and hot! We'll definitely be back here again!

« Good room, good price. »

As we were here before the busy ski season the price was very good, I arrived with no reservation and got a good price. Pleasantly surprised by the room, was very nice indeed. Large room and the fireplace was a nice touch. The bathroom was very clean and the bed and linens were top quality. The flooring is the new hardwood looking vinyl, which I can understand is probably a lot less hassle than carpet, however there should be a boot mat at the entrance closet so you don't track in snow and dirt on you shoes. You end up with water puddles at the door or at worst all over the room as people carry in their cases. When I wiped up the snow and water the dirt on the paper towel was quite noticeable. I used the rubber shower mat for a boot mat until they dried off. So unless this flooring is washed everytime the room is used it is just as dirty as carpet. This is the second hotel in the last 6 months that has this flooring and it was the same problem at the other hotel which is not the same chain. The hotel has indoor pool facilities which we did not use and they also have a breakfast that unfortunately we also did not have time to enjoy. Close to dining spots on the street in front and a few minutes from the downtown with larger stores, bank, etc. This facility is right on the service road off the Trans Canada Highway so you do get a small amount of road noise in the morning as the traffic picks up but that is just the way it is.

« Great Place to Stay »

From the check in to the check out, This hotel is a very warm friendly place to stay. The firplace in the room makes you feel at home. I recommend this hotel to everyone. I travel through this area 7 - 9 times a year and always stay here.

« Clean, comfortable, family and pet friendly. »

Room was clean and comfortable. We appreciated the fireplace. Free breakfast was appreciated and adequate. Pool with water slide and hot tub were enjoyed by many families with children. We were glad to bring our pet. This hotel is near the outskirts of town, not near the Main Street area.

« We seem to have missed the good staff »

Do have to say I love the town and the people here are amazing. The mountain air is a great way to start the day, only wish breakfast way as delicious as the view.. I have no idea why you can't get a drink mid afternoon here and hear slot about how the owner doesn't play well with others . Front desk and housekeeping is great , management could use a re vamp however . The place smells disgusting in the morning's I had to wake up however the smell disintegrated throughout the day, and came back the very next morning ...

« General Manager Cancelled our Reservation-Disgraceful Customer Service »

We have been planning our trip from Ontario to Banff Alberta for over a year as a Christmas present for our family. I researched and planned our trip well in advance and booked six days of our vacation at Best Western Plus Pocaterra Inn. Before I begin, we have been loyal Best Western Customers for over 15 years and have always been pleased. I booked our accommodations in May and was quite pleased with the reservation staff. They were professional, pleasant and offered excellent customer service, helping us to plan our vacation. Approximately a week ago, one of the desk staff called our home to confirm our CC number as they had changed computer systems and lost ours. They asked for me and thought my son was me (although I am female) and proceeded to tell him they were calling from Best Western, Canmore Alberta for our booking in Dec. I was very disappointed and sad as it was supposed to be a surprise. I told the individual how disappointed I was. He was extremely apologetic and repeatedly asked what he could do to repair the situation. I called back days later to see if they could compensate us in any way, ex. a room upgrade or National Park passes etc? I was told to speak to the General Manager, Martine Rousseau. When I called she put me on speaker phone and said she had three people in the room. I asked her to take me off so I could hear her better. I began to explain the situation and she said she had already been apprised of the situation. She went on how no harm had been done, and how they speak with customers all the time and my son should have identified himself better. She also said that there was no intent of ill will, which I agreed. I told her Jordan had been exceptional in his apologies and customer service but that he recommended I contact the General Manager. She asked me my date of arrival and then told me if I wasn't happy I could cancel my reservation. I indicated that I did not want my reservation cancelled and that I was shocked that that was her solution/response. I said I had never experienced such poor customer service, that she did not even allow me to discuss our situation etc. She then asked me how I had been given such a good rate. I said probably because I booked in May and they had matched online rates and she proceeded to say that as the General Manager she reserved the right to cancel my reservation as she "did not feel it was a good fit". I said this is unbelievable and I do not want my reservation cancelled. She said she had made up her mind and hung up the phone on me. I called back and attempted to speak to her again. I asked who I could speak to at Best Western and she indicated her husband was the owner and they are all independently owned and that the General Manager reserved the right to cancel all reservations. I called Best Western Customer service and worked with two lovely individuals. At this point I was in tears and extremely stressed as I know Christmas is a busy and expensive time of year and I would never have left my reservations to the last minute. They each attempted to contact her to understand what had happened and to reinstate my reservation. They said how sorry they were, "we sounded like a lovely family" but she was not willing even to listen to them and that the owner did reserve the right and as she was married to the owner there was nothing they could do to convince her other wise. Two different customer service people called to speak with her. I never imagined that this was possible. I did not realize until now that Best Western was independently owned. It was so outrageous that I honestly thought someone was going to tell me that it was a joke. I will say Customer Service which overseas Best Western was amazing to deal with. They worked very hard to try to find us new accommodations at the same rate. Unfortunately, Best Western accommodations are limited in Canmore and Banff but were able to assist us in other ways. SO we were left with no accommodations for six days and this close to Christmas when everything is very expensive and booked. I feel that once she saw the great rate I had received, she knew she could cancel it and open it up and therefore rent out the rooms for much more. The location appears to be beautiful and the front desk staff was exceptional and even apologetic for her behaviour. It is unfortunate that she has so little regard for her customers and customer service. Lastly, this really is a trip of a lifetime for our family. We have planned and saved and dreamed of this vacation and it is very unfortunate that the Martine R, General Manager cares so little and has completely lost the true definition of Customer Service. It is great for her family that the property receives such great reviews and that she has amazing people on the desk, answering phones and obviously business is doing so well that she does not need our family's six day reservation. I am taking the time to post this as I hope no family ever has to deal with this.

« Canmore Best Western Pocaterra »

We would definitely go back. Pet friendly and affordable. Excellent location and a fantastic breakfast included! We requested an early check-in and we were pleasantly surprised to get our room BEFORE noon! It gave us time to settle in and then have a full day to explore The Nordic Centre and go for a nice hike early in the afternoon. The location is close to restaurants, convenience stores, pubs etc. You can walk over to Tim Horton's/Wendy's for a quick bite. The pool and waterside was great and super clean!

« Welcoming Pet Friendly full service hotel »

Arriving from Regina by car about 4PM it wass a pleasure to be so welcomed by the staff at the desk who were prompt with our reservation and very friendly. The room was on the larger size, very well appointed and furnished, very clean with super comfortable beds

    « clean, current »

Very pleasantly surprised by my stay here. Good value - clean, beautiful rooms (new beds, fireplace, newly renoed). Whirlpool and pool are nice - only wish is that they were kept open till 11pm instead of 10. Free breakfast was plentiful and well done (eggs, omelets, waffles, french toast, pastries, cereal, yogurt, tea, coffee, juice) - by far the largest continental spread I've had. They also put out beverages and cookies in the day. Small things: parking spots are very tight for bigger trucks/suvs. Like many newer hotels, there is no bathroom fan....there should be.

    « Excellent Value »

Pros: Rooms very nice with wood floor and fireplace Beautiful view of mountains Nice balconies and doors to balconies Hallways looked good, not banged up Pool area attractive Breakfast included, generous, available until 11am Close to some restaurants Cons: located between busy roads so a lot of traffic noise located away from center of town breakfast mainly prepared foods, scrambled eggs had a unusual texture only one bedside table

« Nice clean comfortable room with stunning views of the Rockies to wake up to. »

The Best Western is a great place to stay in Canmore. The staff are great, the rooms are clean and more than adequate. The breakfasts are also very good and plentiful with a lot of choices. In room 118 we had a balcony and it was brilliant to be able to sit outside drinking our morning coffee just looking at the Three Sisters, and more. We would highly recommend this place to anyone. Thank you to all the staff for your assistance. Gail and Mike (UK)

« Excellent choice for mid priced hotel. »

We have stayed in this hotel several times while on business. It is in a lovely setting with mountain views, access to everything Canmore has to offer. Most impressed with their rooms with Pets as we had our two Cotons with us. The rooms were spotless, no dog smells and the floors were laminate. Bedding was new and spotless. No dusty comforters on these beds. Access to outdoors for dog walks as we were on the main floor level. Considering there are trains nearby and Highway # 1 we were not disturbed through the night. Full breakfast offered as well.

    « Weekend with friends »

This charming and nice hotel is perfect for family, business, couples or solo. Rooms are very clean with hardwood floors and beds so comfortable. The view we had from our room was amazing ~ Rockies in pictures! Kids loved the pool which was open from 7AM to 10PM with a super slide. The hotel offer a very good complimentary breakfast with lots of choice. The staff were very helpful and polite. The hotel is perfectly well situated in center of the city. We will come back for sure!

    « What a great weekend! »

This hotel is great! The room was clean, comfortable, the view was awesome! I like the fact there is no carpet in the rooms. The staff was nice and helpful. The breakfast was good and there is a good variety of food. The kids really enjoy the pool. I recommend this great hotel!

    5
« Some minor things but a lot of pluses »

I brought a small dog and it was probably the best place I have stayed from the pet perspective. We had a patio off the room which was below grade with a 4 foot wall. The dog could run around out there with no risk of falling off the balcony or getting away. The complimentary breakfast was up there for the best I have had at a hotel. Not as many tv channels as I would like, the door did not always close when we left, and the sauna was not very hot are the only complaints I can think of. The rooms were large with a microwave, fridge and gas fireplace. Sauna, hot tub, steam room, indoor pool, waterslide, and fitness center.

    « Weekend away »

Hotel is very nice. Kids love the pool. We checked in early with no problems. In centre of town close to all amenities. Room very nice, no carpet which was really nice...no weird old carpet smells. Will stay again.

    « Pleasantly surprised. »

We haven't stayed here for years and were very pleased to see the upgrades that had been done to the rooms. The room we stayed in had been totally redone from top to bottom. The breakfast room was very pleasant , with a good selection of food offered. There is a great indoor pool for kids. Downtown Canmore would be about a half hour walk. There are also good biking paths around the town.

« Great stay! Helpful staff! »

We were pleasantly surprise during our stay here in BW Pocatera Inn. Like your regular hotel, they have all the basic ametinities. I was impressed that the rooms have hardwood floors which was great! (I hate the stinky carpet smell of hotel rooms). Nice that there was microwave, fridge and keurig coffee maker with complementary coffee pods in the room which was a plus. There is also a vending making and ice dispenser in the basement. There is also a gym and pool which was a hit for family travelling with kids. I do like the fact that there is a lot of restaurants in driving distance. Fastfood chains like Mcdonalds and A&W are just your neighbor, it thats your thing. Free breakfast is just okay, nothing spectacular. I was personally happy during our stay because of the helpful staff, I didnt have a marker which i usually have during our trip to organize our souvenirs, i borrowed from front desk and they gladly gave me. Also at one point we run out of canadian dollars and we wanted to use the vending machine, I asked the front desk if them exchange my us dollars to canadian so we can use the vending machine which they gladly did as well. Will definitely recommend for travellers. Thumbs up!

« Manager Never there to solve problems »

Being charged $21 per night for a cot in a room was outrageous. If they would have told us there was a charge for a cot we could have at least made an informed decision whether or not we would pay for a cot in the room. The manager (Martine) was never in and even when I phoned back twice to get it resolved the manager was not in. We came home to a message on our answering machine that they were not willing to reverse the charge. Phoned again and they put me thru to the managers voice mail and guess what the mailbox was FULL. very poor customer service. Never ever again will we stay there.

    « Surprisingly good »

I am beyond surprised that this is a decent Best Western Inn I have ever been into in the last couple of years. The place is clean and well maintained. The amenities are okay. Breakfast and lunch was really really good. The amazing view outside the hotel is to die for. The only downside of this hotel is it smelled of pool chlorine the moment you step the entrance doors. Other than that, this small hotel just feels homey and all.

    5
    « No Carpet!!!! Seriously!!!! »

To my surprise,as I never thought it possible!!! There are no carpets in the guest rooms! Clean and comfortable and so very modern! As we finished our complimentary breakfast, I spoke to an employee and told him how lucky he was to work with this view; the mountains literally wrap around this little town like a big majestic quilt! He agreed and said I should see the sunrise in August as the sun paints it's picture by adding more pinks than any other time of year. If you are not impressed with the accommodations you will be with the scenery. Loved our stay and will be back.

    « Great fall weekend »

I stayed in the king room for two nights in the fall. My room was ready and I was greeted and seen to immediately. My room was clean, large, and cozy. The fireplace with the chairs is such a nice touch. Breakfast was good and everything was ready for when they opened at 7am. I chose to forgo maid service and recurred a gift card instead. I chose to stay in Canmore over Banff mostly because it is less busy and I was very happy with my decision.

    4
    « Good »

I stay at the best western if possible. Have found a lot of different in the operation of each motel. Most times if there is a problem the staff will correct it. Cleaning seem to be a problem, and feel that you need a person to check on the cleaning staff performers.

    5
    « Highly Recommended »

Very friendly, helpful staff; immaculate, modern rooms; excellent breakfast and breakfast room - plenty of space; and the Inn is at a great central location. Our son loved the heated, indoor pool and waterslide. The Inn was very clean. Value for money - especially since it is a short drive to higher priced Banff. Downtown Canmore is really pretty, with a variety of shops - lot less crowded than Banff. Would definitely stay here again.

« Our room not reserved!! »

We had booked all our hotels as a travel package for our Canada trip. So on our last night we arrived in Canmore in the evening expecting to check straight in. However, we were shocked to find that they did not have a reservation for us despite U.S. Having a voucher from our agents confirming the room. After a while the receptionist note the agents who had secured the room and he suggested this was the problem as they no longer took bookings from this agent due to payment problems. Fortunately they had vacancies and we were able to secure a room albeit we would have to pay despite having paid our agent in the UK. This unfortunate episode was not dealt with in the most helpful fashion by the young man on reception, but following an email and telephone communication with our UK agent all was suitably resolved. The young lady on reception the next morning was more helpful and produced paperwork to show our card being debited and credited for our peace of mind. There are no dining facilities at this hotel apart from a breakfast room. Breakfast was continental and included but was run along the lines of a college canteen so you felt it just a place to eat and drink quickly and get out, certainly not a relaxing experience.

« Nice place but a parking nightmare »

Canmore is a great alternative to Banff. Nice little town. The BW Canmore is an older hotel but the rooms are very nice. They have a very good, much above average, breakfast in the morning. The staff is friendly and they are doing the best they can with the parking situation. The parking spaces are very narrow. In fact, it's almost impossible to get out of your car if someone is parked on both sides of you. I saw several people struggling to get out without dinging the adjacent car. People of size would be SOL.

    « Great find »

The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room spacious and the breakfast had good variety. Within walking distance to restaurants and supermarket. Short drive to center of town. Would definitly stay at this hotel again.

« Very nice and good value »

We had a great stay at the Best Western Pocaterra Inn. We always enjoy finding a pet friendly hotel. The room was comfortable and clean. We loved the fireplace, its a very nice touch. The staff were friendly and helpful when help was needed ( I foolishly spilled wine at 1am and it was dealt with within 15 minutes). The included breakfast was also enjoyable. Overall, great and our preferred choice when staying in the Canmore/Banff area.
