« Convenient good spot to stay »

Close to many restaurants, and shopping amenities Rooms are clean The free breakfast is a nice to have. Customer service was great I had an issue with the first room they gave me when I walked into it the bed was unmade and there were dirty towels in the bathtub It was clear this room had not been cleaned When I went down to front desk they were very apologetic and gave me a free upgrade They then checked once I went in new room to ensure all was satisfactory I have had this happen at other hotels and I did not get the same customer service There is a security guard on duty all night and the elevators are secured you need a room key to be able to have elevator move. I felt safe and appreciated The day I was leaving the breakfast was not quite open yet it opens at 600 and I was leaving around 545 the gentleman at the front desk brought me into the breakfast area and I was able to grab a coffee and some food before I left If you are looking for a clean, reasonable priced secure ,hotel and in a great area for shopping and restaurants with awesome customer service than this is the place to go

« Great Spot to Stay »

Downtown location, parking there....rooms were awesome....staff nice Room had a little kitchen area which was nice. Hotel was clean....Breakfast was better than average. No issues at all...rate was reasonable for a downtown hotel

    « Downtown Hotel »

Close to downtown, love the underground parking; breakfast is satisfactory but not the best I have had...though they do have fresh fruit, yogurt and various breads that you can toast. The breakfast staff is excellent.

    « Convenience »

I have stayed twice at this convenient hotel located downtown. Considering the location, having the free parking is a bonus. The complimentary breakfast is decent too and it's nice to have that option while needing to eat in a hurry in the morning. The furnishings and decor are dated but the service is overall helpful and friendly. We stayed about a week and rates varied wildly from one night to the next for the same room as we added days on to our stay (I understand there are variances due to demand and days of the week, but it was quite significant and we weren't informed of the large rate changes til we got our final bill). Overall the hotel was clean, convenient and easy to park, so I would recommend it to anyone looking to stay comfortably in downtown Calgary without breaking the bank.

    « Pleasantly surprised :) »

A super-friendly staff, comfy bed and tasty breakfast is enough to keep me coming back, but I also love the location and proximity to everything that DT Calgary has to offer. It's not the newest, shiniest hotel in the city, but it doesn't have to be to keep me happy and comfortable.

    « Comfortable, convenient & good value »

This hotel is conveniently located about 20 minutes walk from Downtown Calgary & only 10 minutes from the C-train, which provides a free service through the Downtown area. There is ample parking both above & underground. The staff were friendly & efficient throughout our stay & had helpfully e-mailed a map showing the hotel's location before we travelled. Our room was clean & comfortable with a good view of the Calgary skyline. The hotel has a small gym, which was more than adequate as I was the only user each time I visited it. In contrast the breakfast room was always busy & the breakfast was very good. In addition to the usual cereals, fruit & pastries, there were hot dishes & the facility to make fresh waffles (much appreciated after the gym!).

« Great stay, great people »

Love being greeted by the smiling staff on the front desk. After a long day of sight seeing the staff welcomes us back like family!! We only stay here when visiting Calgary, the convenience can't be beat, close to restaurants, the downtown core, transit. The reasonably priced for a downtown hotel.

    « Always a good stay »

It is always a good stay and the location is perfect for w.me working downtown. Also easy walks to restaurants and entertainment. Staff are friendly and helpful which makes for a very good stay. I haven't used the facilities or eaten the breakfast but otherwise it is all good

    « Great value »

Great value. Good location. Friendly staff. Everything was perfect and would definitely stay here again. Free breakfast is another bonus as well as free wifi and free parking. Very convenient for the guest traveling with car

    « Not a place I will visit again. »

If I had not been double charged and provided some sort of customer service this review could've gone a different way. I was completely charged the duration of my stay on the 5th November, no issue here and front desk clerk was nice. I woke up on the 7th and discovered there was another pending charge that had sucked up every last dollar in my account, this means I had to break my interest earning account to add funds, not impressed but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Spoke to front desk on the morning of the 6th and casually informed them that I had been charged, I was heading to the zoo for the day so I said I'll check on the progress on my return (ensure you check the zoo out and my review on here). I returned in the evening to a nice guy who had to investigate again, never seen the first girl again so I couldn't vent my disappointment. I informed him that if it's fixed by tonight I would be happy and left with the agreement that someone would inform once this had been corrected. This never happened so yet again I open my bank account the morning of the 8th to see this thing still pending and holding 500 AUD. Not impressed by I had a meeting that morning and just didn't have the time to speak to these unhelpful people. Skipping forward to the morning of the 9th, D Day (checkout day), I yet again confront 3 staff members, one of which charged me on my first and remembered me. They wanted my credit card again, no chance whatsoever, you charge me you fix your own mistake. SURPRISE!!! the girl finds it without my card, apparently it was declined so on their end I won't be charged, well if someone could've told me this like they said they would I wouldn't have had such a infuriating trip. You trust these places with your credit card, it is a mutual respect and to have a second charge and have to speak with over two people is disgusting service. This place just sucks do not waste your time here I'm sure they must be doing great to treat people with such disrespect. I have spent 5 weeks travelling through Canada and Calgary was my last long time stopover before heading home. They sucked 500 that I just couldn't budget for and I'm now heading to Vancouver with next to no money. I'm infuriated is an understatement, they ruined Calgary and my entire stopover. Petty people couldn't even muster up an apologise or a discount, what a joke of an establishment. I have posted all through my Facebook and Instagram, no one in my network will stay here so that's my experience with Best Western done. 1 star, it would be a zero if I had it my way.

« Great location, great room and staff. Wheelchair review l »

Booked this hotel because we were coming to Calgary for a concert. I booked a wheelchair accessible room over an Internet discount site. Approximately a week before our arrival date, the staff at the front desk called me to make sure the room that they were going to have available for me, would suit my needs. To ensure that I was able to have a comfortable and accessible stay. This has been some of the most amazing service I have ever received from hotel services. Parking was easy and available at all times of the day. It is free with your stay. Nice size and location for the wheelchair spots. Check in. Was very professional and friendly. They were prepared to show me the three types of rooms for me like they promised. I was good with the first accessibility suite they showed me. Not a roll in shower, a tub with sturdy and very well positioned hand rails throughout the bathroom and tub area and a shower chair in the room. No calling down and waiting for one as we were in a hurry to get to dinner reservations. This is the first hotel where they had it in the room. I loved this. It made me feel independent and not having to wait. Hotel staff. I found every staff member extremely friendly from maintenance to housekeeping. Check out. The most painless, fast and uncomplicated process I have ever experienced. Love it!! The Room. Very accessible. There in carpet so it was harder to push around. It was clean, no smell and a nice size. The room had a side and a small kitchen area with microwave and fridge. Nice linens. Colours and style a bit dated but not that it ever deter me from staying here again. For the two of us we were provided ample towels and face clothes. Our room was on the second floor. Quiet. Did not hear others quests at any time and I know we had neighbours as we bumped into them in the hall. No street noise. Only tiny downside was the hot water was not very hot, but I like my water extremely hot. The bed. The bed was very firm and this is not my preference. The mattress had a slight slope to one side of the bed which made it uncomfortable. The booking site that I used asked me for a review after the first night. I gave the hotel all happy faces and one sad face for the bed. As soon as we got back to the room front desk called me and asked if there was anything they could do to make the bed better for us; asking if we would like an extra duvet to make the mattress softer. We did not take them up on this but that is amazing customer service!! Security. Fabulous!! If you were wondering whether or not a downtown location would be a good choice this is why it would be ... to gain access the hotel after 11 pm you must tap your room key to enter and you must have a room key to allow the elevator to go to any floors. I felt safe walking around the property and for Blaine cold in each directions. Thought it was high security- and was wondering why it was needed. But I liked it and felt safe. Wifi. Was good. Did not need to use so I can't tell you how it worked. Instructions on how to log on in the room. My roaming data had full service as well. Breakfast. I was very impressed with the amount of options for a free breakfast. Waffles, eggs, sausages, cereal, hot oatmeal, fresh fruit and breads. You need your room card to enter. It was clean and ready to go. The girl minding the counter was friendly and kept it clean. Location. Can't beat it. Blocks away from amazing and fantastic shopping, restaurants and bars. Only $7.00 can ride to anywhere downtown. $$. I booked this hotel on a internet booking site for $105.00 per night. It was going to be less but we opted for the cancellation option. Location, room size, free parking / wifi / breakfast and the customer service. It was a great deal!! I was able to access all ears in my wheelchair and was able to be independent while on my own. We will stay here again when we come to Calgary!!

« You can count on it every time »

Very comfortable. Well appointed rooms. All come with mini fridges. Extremely close to downtown. great meeting rooms with on site parking. Breakfast is great and included. Stay a few times and you feel like family.

« good location, nice staff »

It has a very good, central location. Good enough car park can accommodate larger trucks in downtown. The staff are very nice and helpful. Our room had a nice view of downtown lights. It was clean. They were too stingy about shampoo etc. They were not enough for 2 people for one day stay. Also I wish at least a simple breakfast would be included considering the amount of money paid.

« Excellent location and very friendly front desk staff »

My wife and I stayed here on Oct. 22, 2016 and were pleasantly surprised by its location (i.e., even though you research the location on Googlemaps ahead of time and have a sense of where it is, you really don't get a true feel for the place until you're on site). From the exterior, the hotel seemed a bit dated, but the inside was very clean. We appreciated the fact the hotel offered free parking in downtown Calgary, so we walked around everywhere. Our room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable (and no bedbugs ... we always check!). Another bonus is that the hotel offers a free breakfast to its guests, and while not the best quality or choice, for what they had it was very tasty and appreciated. Excellent value overall, and we would stay here again.

    5
    « Perfect Location »

Great hotel and a good value. This hotel is well located - closed to restaurants and shopping. Parking is free and either outside or underground - depending on the weather. Rooms are clean and well appointed. All in all - a great stay in downtown Calgary.

    3
« Good location, good stay »

We spent four days exploring Calgary. This hotel is in a very good location - a few streets from 17th Ave SW where there are wonderful shops and restaurants, and it's very close to the Lougheed house. It's an easy 10-15 minute walk to downtown. The front desk staff were friendly and knowledgeable, the breakfast very adequate, and our room very nice with a comfortable bed. We were on the 11th floor and had a nice view of the city. The cleaning staff could have done a better job in cleaning up our room. That was the only negative on an otherwise enjoyable stay. We would stay there again.

    2
« Hotel is very out dated »

Rooms are very out dated. Beds extreme uncomfortable. Upon checking in room my 1 yr old son found old fries on the floor. My 1 yr old puked in the bed (stain was very visible on sheets). We pulled all sheets off bed and put in a pile on the floor. Bed was remade with dirty sheets.

    4
« Walking distance to down town »

Free parking in front of the hotel. Warm welcome at the reception. Quick check-in at the frontdesk. Comfortable rooms. One elevator was defect and gave long waiting time. Breakfast room is very narrow and breakfast was simple.

    5
    « Great Hotel »

We stayed at this hotel in September 2016 and couldn't fault it for friendliness, cleanliness or comfort. It's Claxton lots of resteraunts and bars but is about a 15 minute fast walk to the trams for downtown.

« Not a great area of town »

We stayed in a standard room and found it to be quite a compact room - a little tight for 4 of us (2 kids, ages 5 and 11). But there was a little kitchenette with the basics (although not enough seats for us all at the table). Breakfast was included, but it was hard to find a table sometimes, especially for 4 people. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The location was reasonably convenient (transport, restaurants and supermarkets weren't too far away, but did require a bit of walking), but we didn't find it to be a great area of town (a bit rundown and lots of 'dodgy' looking people around). However our experience of Calgary in general was that a lot of areas in the city seemed to be like this. I don't think we'd stay here again if we came as a family, however this is more a reflection of the location rather than the hotel itself.

    « Decent Downtown BW »

No complaints about this Downtown Calgary BW. Seems/Feels like a little older/more residential part of downtown but it works. Hotel has newer styling/upgrades. And staff were very friendly/helpful. Nothing amazing, but this day and age I also had 0 complaints or Negative feelings. Great Views. I would recommend this property.

    3
    « Great Location »

The hotel was in a great location in downtown Calgary. The parking was great, beds were comfortable, kitchenette was a nice bonus but having NO Wi-Fi was a very big pain!! They said they were working on it when we checked in but I have a feeling nothing was being done about it as it was still not working when we left two days later.

    5
« Great Big Room; Great Big Value »

We arrived to the Best Western Plus Suites Downtown and got off the elevator on the 15th floor to a slightly dated hallway with low ceilings. However, the room itself was updated and very spacious, with a large, comfortable king-sized bed, oversized bedside tables, a seating area, and kitchenette. It was very clean and had nice views of downtown. Security at the hotel was tight, as you had to use your room key to get into the heated, indoor parking and onto any floor (except the lobby) via the elevator. Breakfast was more than ample, with nice options and extras and staff kept the area clean and filled. The hotel is located just a few blocks from the heart of downtown, and easy to get into/out of. Overall we found it to be a tremendous value in a fantastic city and would stay again in a heartbeat.

    5
    « Lovely stopover! »

I really enjoyed my stay here. The rooms was actually a huge apartment and was clean, attractive and comfortable. The staff members were super helpful and friendly, allowing me an early check in and also offering me a take-away breakfast when I had to leave at 5am to catch an early morning flight. The take-away breakfast was very much appreciated and a really nice touch. The hotel was also well located, within easy walking distance of the city centre and food outlets. Highly recommended!

    5
« Great hotel in a central downtown 17th Ave location!!! »

Stayed at the Best Western Plus Suites Downtown in Calgary last weekend. We stayed in a 2 bedroom unit which was great with a family. It had 2 separate bedrooms with a full kitchen. Lots of room. The location was excellent. Within walking distance to lots of restaurants. Requested extra bedding on 2 occasions and it was delivered within minutes. I would definitely go back!

    3
« Fine, but a little run down »

This is a 2.5 star hotel and it shows. It is run down, dated, etc. The windows all had a bad breeze. However, it wasn't dirty, the staff were helpful, free parking, and close to downtown. If you are looking for a cheap room for a short stay, sure stay here. I would return, but I would look elsewhere first.

    4
    « Nice room & breakfast »

Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and breakfast has lots of options. Please be aware that you should tell the front desk in advance to book a shuttle bus If you would like to get to the airport by shuttle bus.

    4
« Good location, reasonable rates »

Good location in downtown Calgary. Easy walk to 17th street for restaurants etc and 10 minute walk to downtown core. Room was nice, bedding and towels etc above average. Older hotel, but clean. Included breakfast, which changed daily (omelettes/scrambled egg/bacon/sausages/waffles etc), nice when you are staying more than one day.. Room had small kitchen with mini fridge/microwave/hot plate etc if you wanted to do some light cooking. Staff we had contact with were all friendly and smiling, even in the hallways and elevators. Would stay again

    4
« Good economic value for groups or families. »

The location for us was perfect, within walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Large rooms with kitchenettes and free parking with a pretty good free breakfast. Good economic value for groups or families

« Great place to stay for business »

Clean hotel with friendly staff, central to Calgary sites and downtown, great for the business traveler. They offer a free breakfast that is very good and includes hot items and would be considered a full breakfast. Parking is included in your stay which is definitely a bonus as parking at other hotels is an extra charge. There are many good places to eat within a couple of blocks of this hotel. There is a London drugs just down the street which is handy if you have forgot anything on your trip

    4
« A nice hotel in the good location, friendly feel »

We stayed there just for one night though we had the full next day. It was nice to stay there at this property- they gave us a free upgrade and the suite was very nice and well equipped with all facilities, had a decent kitchenette with most everything you will need when staying away from home. Location wise was quite central and walkable from core downtown areas. Nice breakfast and staff was friendly. Will specially mention, Abhinav- who was very nice and he was the one at check-in when we reached the hotel. Very efficient and helpful with all the info we queried about. will certainly stay again, a little longer next time and will recommend to friends as well

    5
« GREAT PLACE TO STAY »

Excellent all around. Location, cleanliness, friendliness. We always stay here! Lots of great restaurants close by as well as shopping and downtown. A very central location to the whole city of Calgary, really.

    5
« Nice Hotel in Downtown Calgary »

Liked our stay at this property of Best Western Plus hotels. Very convenient. Good value for Money. Everything was nice, clean and comfy. Staff very nice specially liked Mr. Abhinav for his kind attention in answering all our queries with enthusiasm.

    3
« Great location, but dirty rooms »

The hotel is between 17th ave, which is the main restaurant and and pub stretch, and the downtown. A safeway grocery store is located 100 meters away. The staff is very friendly, but housekeeping is poor. Excellent breakfast.

    4
    « 7-day stay: zero complaints! »

We stayed in the king suite, which had a spacious living room, a dinning table for four, a full kitchen, including a full fridge, stove and oven, microwave, dish washer, sink, coffee make, and toaster. The suite we had also had two rooms: one with a king and one with a queen bed. The king bed was firm, but very comfortable. Also, the wifi was very good. The staff are extremely friendly, receptive and helpful and the complementary breakfast is among the best we've had at a Best Western. We used the laundry facilities, dry cleaning service, and the underground parking and all were satisfactory. The hotel is conveniently located -- a short walk from many restaurants on 17th Avenue SW.

    5
« Nice play to stay in Calgary »

exceptionally helpful staff, very comfortable rooms, bed and bathroom, good location kitchen facilities, walking distance of many places of interest. As we are walkers, we did everything walking. Restaurants and supermarket nearby. Parkin. Breskfast could have more choises.

    3
    « Location & suite size a bonus »

Fairly typical BW experience with dated room décor and marginal front-desk service, but the location is accessible and fantastic, the sizes of the 2-bed suites generous, and having a full kitchen and excellent Wi-Fi are very handy. Lots of free parking; however despite the suites all having balconies, none are usable. Beds are excellent though, sleep quality was terrific!

    4
    « Spacious comfortable stay »

Had a very comfortable stay with 2 queen beds and a kitchenette. Front desk was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good and included cereal, bagels, fruit salad, coffee and parking was free. Would recommend staying here.

    3
« Disappointment at the end »

While the hotel has several good features we were very unhappy at the end. During the last two weeks we had two different reservations as we travelled to Edmonton and then returned to Calgary to the same hotel. During our first check out the receptionist told me that for our next stay we are eligible for a CAD 50 discount if I register to their membership program. So I did. But surprisingly when we checked out of our second stay they said that I'm only eligible for the discount on the third stay. Later on I contacted BW customer service and they informed me that I'm not eligible at all because I made the reservations through a third party (booking.com). I think the only reason why the receptionist offered me the CAD 50 discount was to push me into their membership program. The other problem is the young, unprofessional cleaners who are shouting on the corridor, feel priority in the elevator and have no idea at all what housekeeping means. Training would be useful for both the receptionists and cleaners.

« Beautiful View of Torrential Deluge »

My wife and I stayed here for one night while vacationing in the Banff area. We had an excellent room up on the 8th floor which provided a splendid view of the downtown area. As well, that particular day saw a thunder storm that released an enormous amount of water on the Calgary streets. That in itself was quite a show from our hotel window. The room had great amenities such as a full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, tv with a DVD player, comfortable living room area, and a nice shower/bathtub. Definitely recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

    3
    « Stop over »

We took two nights to recover from flight. This hotel was good value and easy to walk to main areas of town. Large room and very comfortable big bed. Included breakfast gave limited choice but plenty to fill up for the day. Rather dated but more than adequate.

    4
    « Best Western, Calgary »

A nice hotel. Lovely room and a good breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful, we arrived late at night and they recommended a good bar which served food. I would visit again. They were happy for us to leave our luggage after we had checked out whilst visiting the city and before picking our car up.

    4
    « Better than anticipated »

The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable My friend (wheelchair) and myself checked into the hotel for 1 night stay while in calgary. The wheelchair accessible 4 oomph only had one bed They immediately offered the upgrade to a 2 bedroom. The handy man (sorry , I'm horrible with names) dropped what he was doing and showed us a couple of different room options. I was very impressed on the way they run things .... They really have heart here ... Thank you

« Best Western Plus Suites Downtown, Calgary, »

The hotel was clean and the staff were friendly. The house keeping staff do not speak or understand english very well. They know basic words like good morning but thats about it. The breakfast area was inviting and the food was good. There was a selection of hot and cold foods. the exercise equipment needs to be updated. Please add a spinning bike and hot tub or a pool to this property.

    4
« Best western hotel. Calgary »

Comfortable, clean, friendly. Close to downtown. Would stay again. Good service. Excellent security. Feel very safe. Would recommend. Includes breakfast. Do not like that rate changes per night as we stayed 3 nights and rate varied each night

    4
    « Good location »

This is a nice hotel in a good location close to the trendy 17th Ave district. A big plus is the ample free parking. Reasonable rates for standard room which are clean with good amenities. Can't comment on the quality of the breakfast because the room was too crowded (long line-up on Sunday morning at 9 am) and was so warm that it was uncomfortable.

    3
« Overnight in Calgary en route to the Parks »

This was a one-night stopover from Calgary airport to the Parks. We chose this thinking we would be able to experience a hopping major Alberta city within walking distance of the hotel but the area was dead. Presumably more of a business hotel but there were lots of kids and the breakfast experience was very unpleasant - kids spilling drinks on the carpet and wasting food and neither parents nor staff bothered by this. The TV was at high volume but neither I nor the staff could turn it completely down. Room was very comfortable for a nice "around-the-corner" kitchenette and table allowing one of us to sleep undisturbed while the other worked/ate.

« Nice place to stay in downtown Calgary! »

On vacation coming through Calgary and wanted to experience the downtown area on Saturday night. This motel is very convenient to restaurants and shops. Very nice staff that helped us choose a restaurant. Rooms were very clean and modern. Breakfast was very good also.

    5
    « Great stay »

Great downtown location. Room was very comfortable and clean. The hallway was a little dated looking but once we stepped in the room it was very nice and modern and clean. Breakfast was very good, everything was well stocked and the eating area was clean and tidy. We would stay here again for sure. Also there was free parking.

    « Between Downtown and 17th ave »

Not very long to reach downtown by walk. Free breakfast and parking. A little noisy late on the night on our floor. Room comfortable with plenty of space. Little kitchennette was useful and practible.

    « Great location! »

This hotel is located in the heart of the city. Within walking distance to many restaurants and local grocery stores. The added value of a breakfast on the main floor daily is a nice treat and very convenient.

    « Great hotel "downtown" »

We were disappointed to find that we were not in the middle of downtown Calgary...but that lasted 10 minutes when we learned that the central business district is primarily big buildings. We were 3 blocks from the hip 17th Avenue restaurant street, 3 blocks from a Safeway, and 6 from the free cross-town trolley. It would have been a 20+ walk to the beautiful Bow River walkway but parking is free after 6 so you can take your stroll after 6! The hotel is newly rennovated, has a mini-kitchen, free breakfast (hot and cold), free WIFI, and free parking. Perfect for our 3 day stay.

« Efficient staff, clean, and good location »

This hotel seemed on the older side, and the staff were efficient if not overly friendly. They certainly were not unfriendly, and they were helpful if I asked a question, they just were not super friendly. The room was clean and all was in working order, though to me, the bed was pretty uncomfortable. Very firm and you could feel the springs. The location is great if you want to be in the middle of downtown! It was overall a good place for one night when we had to go to the airport the next day, but not sure I would pick it for more than just a convenient one night.

    « Downtown Calgary »

We enjoyed our stay in Calgary, experiencing downtown was exceptional as we were in walking distance of Eau Claire and the downtown core. The hotel staff was excellent and the breakfast was so tasty. The beds were AMAZING. We will be back!

    « Surpisingly good »

Great location and reasonable price for a hotel in Calgary. It's only a few blocks away from 17 Ave where you can find tons of restaurants, cafes and shops. Plenty of people watching to be had. Our room was clean & spacious and came with a kitchenette! Bonus for those who prefer to make their own meals while away. The rooms come with complimentary Continental breakfast and free parking!

    « Best Western Stay »

Room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Ample parking and location is close to the ammenities. I would reccommend this hotel to anyone requiring a clean and comfortable stay while having to stay downtown for business or pleasure.

    « A great stay in a great location »

Upon arrival at the Best Western Plus Suites Downtown I was immediately impressed with the location. It is close to one of my favourite Brewpubs, Last Best Brewery. Also, it is close to Craft Beer Market and many other great places. The lobby is nice and the desk clerk was courteous and efficient. We were checked in quickly. The room was well appointed with modern furnishings. It was also quite spacious! If we were staying for longer, the kitchenette would have come in handy. The bathrooms were nicely renovated with granite. I love that the parking is free. I dislike getting dinged for that at too many other hotels downtown. There is breakfast included, which is the standard free breakfast fare. Not my favourite kind of stuff, but that's okay, Calgary has plenty of amazing brunch locations within walking distance. Check out National for brunch within walking distance if you are looking for something really good. Checkout was quick and efficient. I highly recommend The Best Western Plus Suites Downtown Calgary. I am excited for my next return there.

    « Great Stay but... »

Our rooms were very spacious and we enjoyed having a kitchen, but the only major downfall was that the balcony door is permanently sealed and no windows open! There were many times we definitely wanted to let in fresh air and couldn't. Also the wifi drops repeatedly. The breakfast is very good and the cleaning staff was also very good. Overall it is a great place to stay if you can live without fresh air.

    « Great Quick Stay »

Had a great stay here for a weekend while we were in town. Room and beds were perfect, kitchenette was a nice touch. Staff was friendly and helpful. So nice to not have to pay for parking or wifi. Breakfast was ok. All around great stay though!

    5
« Bent over backwards for us »

We always stop here when we are in Calgary. It is close to relatives and many cafes/restaurants we like to frequent. The room was very comfortable with a little kichenette. Lots of charger ports and a fast wifi.

« Great hjotel to stay at when in Calgary »

We have been staying at your hotel for 20 to 25 years - generally we come to the Calgary Stampede every second year. Your staff are courteous and helpful; the rooms are clean and comfortable. Your hotel is located close to downtown Calgary and within blocks of a large number of restaurants. The complementary breakfast is always fresh with a great variety of food items to choose from.

    3
    « Loud air conditioning »

Fan on air conditioning so loud I had to turn it off at night so not a good sleep in hot, stuffy room. Nice location and free parking. Good sized room but not really a suite per se. Don't plan on doing any real cooking on their hot plate. Not the cleanest bathroom, and the lobby is a bit shabby.

    5
    « Pleasantly Surprised »

Great stay. Clean rooms with convenient kitchenette. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good. Doesn't look great from the outside but is cozy and clean inside. I would have stayed additional nights if my stay was longer.

    3
    « few choices »

It's tired but close to downtown. Value is average, rooms could be cleaner with more attention to little maintenance items.Be careful outside at night, a little sketchy in this area after dark. Never tried the gym facility, breakfast is pretty good. Staff are helpful and professional.

    4
    « Stampede »

I booked 5-6 months early and asked to be on same floor as two other families we were traveling with. I even called the week prior to remind them, they assured me this would be done. When I arrived we were all placed on separate floors, they did manage to switch things around and get two of us on the same floor. Free parking, parking garage (which was nice in the rain to keep everyone dry. People were pleasant, breakfast was standard hotel breakfast, seemed fresh and replaced quickly when empty. Rooms clean, 2 bedroom suite definitely the way to go, large living room and large bedrooms. Small kitchen but we really didn't use it anyway.

    5
    « wonderful stay »

I stayed here for business purpose and found the hotel very nice and comfortable, great beds to sleep on ...free high speed internet and free parking as well.... breakfast was great, all around staff as I walked in were very professional and pleasant. right of 17th ave were all the pubs and restaurant are . will recommend this hotel to friend and family and will be back again.

    « Need more elevators »

Paid US$350 a night during Calgary Stampede. Steep price but I guess they charge as much as they can during the 10 day event. Plus: Big suite, strong wifi Cons: 20 min walking distance to downtown (Calgary Tower) and 30 min to Stampede. Not fun when rain is bucketting down. Taxi without traffic was US$10 and with traffic double. The airport shuttle won't pick up here if you have an early morning flight. Ours was 6:30am so needed a 4am pick up. The earliest they will do is 4:30am so taxi again. There are only 2 elevators, every morning, you will see the cleaners with their towels and cleaning trolleys in the hallways waiting together with the guests. There should be a separate service lift for them.

    3
« Good room but spoilt »

The room was very spacious but the whole trip was spoilt by the atrocious breakfast. The room itself was tiny with lots of people crammed together. The food was almost inedible served on cardboard plates reminiscent of the workhouse. For the price they charge this aspect plus the indifferent attitude of reception staff made it overpriced. Won't be going back!

    « CALGARY VISIT »

Just loveed all the staff who always smiled and helped me with directions and questions. The front desk staff were just great. They called me cabs in an efficient way, kept me up to date with the arrival, offered to help with bags, etc.

« Excellent hotel - walking distance to centre and stampede ground »

Welcome from staff was very good and we arrived late from long flight from Scotland. Free of charge breakfast was excellent. Good range of foods on offer - a must try is making your own waffles. Check out smooth and good advice on how to get to airport. Would recommend this hotel.

great place to stay near to everything you might need, walking is a good options but the stampede grounds is like 12 blocks, train is a good options, lots of cabs.we walked to the parade three blocks, the rodeo grounds is farther burt went on 17th lots of placws to stop to rest or eat or drink, felt safe

    « Nice to stay »

Nice rooms with small practical kitchenette space. Comfortable for travelling business people and within walking distance to several restaurants, drugstore, and shops. Beds are comfortable and spacious working desk available along with small dining table for two to relax.

    5
« Nice Hotel, Convenient Location »

Great place to stay in the heart of the social side of downtown. Lots of shopping and eating to be had nearby. Hotel offers free underground secure parking, which was greatly appreciated. Staff were very friendly, with the exception of the Waffle Nazi in the dining hall.

    5
« Confortable hotel with private parking »

Very good hotel with complimentary breakfast and parking.Very comfortables beds. Close to 17th Ave, a nice area with a lot of restaurants and bars. Perfect for a short stay in Calgary on the way to Banff National Park

    « Excellent Location/Great Rooms »

The outside street side looked run down. The inside was a pleasant surprise as the rooms are large, everything in the hotel was clean, the elevators were fast and secure with room key. Walking distance to Seventeenth street and the Calgary Tower. 3 Washers and dryers in basement very very clean and working. Stayed here two nights. Would stay again

    4
« Great location & good size suites with kitchen facilities »

We stayed here as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids) in the one bedroom suite. Great size accommodation. The kids shared a sofa bed and we also had a roll-away bed put into the room for the older kid. Lots of space and air conditioning in all the rooms which was essential as it was warm and dry. The kitchen had a sink, fridge, microwave, toaster, with plates, cutlery, cups and glasses. Housekeeping was very efficient and we had a great city view. Breakfast is included although I also brought additional food for eating in the room - which given the facilities, was easy to do. The hotel is close to 17 Ave with a range of different eateries, but also only 20 mins away from the downtown area which we walked to, and went up the Calgary tower. Kids all walked there and it was easy enough. Free parking is a bonus - and I'd definitely book to stay there again.

« Below our expectations for a big chain and compared to other Best Western's we've stayed in. »

Building is in a good location however very dingy with average customer service. The cleaniliness in main areas was poor. The room itself was nice with a good view. Beds in all best westerns are uncomfortable. Parking was included. The quality of food in the complimentary breakfast was very average.

« Best Bang For Buck! »

I always stay at Best Western when one is available where we are travelling to. BW has never let us down; be it Canada, USA or Italy. Yes Italy, we have stayed at BW in Venice and Rome. When we travel, which we often do, across country (or overseas) we always book in advance and have never suffered any inconvenience. When driving throughout North America we usually have our dog with us and sh has always been as welcome at BW as we are.

    « Very Good Location »

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel. We enjoyed our suite very much and appreciated all the room we had. Even though this hotel is located downtown, it didn't seem like it was downtown - there were some nice tree-lined streets nearby and there was very little traffic noise. We thought the variety available at breakfast was good and staff there seemed very attentive. We would stay there again the next time we are in Calgary.

    4
    « My stay »

Stay was good for the price. Very clean and comfy. Breakfast sausage was bad one day. Fitness centre was basic. There wasn't much more. Staff were very friendly. Room was very comfy. I could used pay per view movies.

    4
« Great Location and Staff - but skip the breakie »

This is my go to for downtown Calgary work - easy, convenient and excellent staff. Be sure to book your breakfast off site - the warmed over meal here is rarely mediocre and the hashbrowns were cold and stale two mornings in a role. The meat option is over-salted. A sad blemish on an otherwise great hotel.

    4
« Good Location with Free Parking, Breakfast and wifi »

Stayed in a King Room which besides being a bit dates was good option for my business trip. Room has a couch, coffee table, desk area and a comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit small but worked fine for my stay. There is also a coffee maker, fridge and microwave in a small kitchen area. The hotel provides free parking for registered guests which is a nice perk in the Calgary downtown area. The free breakfast has quite a few options including eggs, potatoes, sausages, waffles, cereal, toast/muffins/pastries, yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. The location of the hotel is close to many restaurants all within walking distance. Would recommend this hotel if you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in the downtown area.

    5
« Thanks to hotel staff »

Nice hotel with free parking, breakfast & wifi in core downtown. Very nice & helpful staff, I really enjoyed my stay there & would love to go there again. Thanks to Krista for the free upgrade. The hotel has all the facilities near by, 17th Ave is a good location for all types of food & drinks & it is very close as well.

    4
« Great location and friendly staff »

On checking in we received a complimentary upgrade. Lovely start to our stay! The room had a kit here, separate sitting area and bedroom with a bath and shower. Spacious with great views of the city. Location great. Walking distance to shopping and entertainment precinct on 17th st. Coin operated laundry facilities on site which really helped us. Hot buffet breakfast included and free wi fi. Would definitely stay here again

    5
« Extremely clean hotel in a great location »

This hotel looks to have been recently refurbished and has been done very well. It is very clean and functional, the rooms were spacious and well designed. The complimentary breakfast was taken in a clean area that provided good options. All the staff were friendly and efficient.

    5
    « Good location downtown »

Staff was very good. They upgraded us to a larger room because the first room key didn't work. We enjoyed the room and all of the aminities. The location was good and the internet was fast. The breakfast was as good as can be expected for the kind of breakfast.

    4
    « Downtown Accommodation »

Being BW Rewards people, we were very pleased with the upgrade we received to the 2 bdrm suite since it was 3 adults sharing. The person we had at check-in was polite but more standoffish while the person at check out was polite and friendly. Our accommodation was acceptable with comfortable beds. The second bedroom could have used a TV. The bathroom could be enlarged as it really only accommodated 1 person at a time. The breakfast items were adequate. This hotel is one we would recommend if you wish to be downtown and is close to many eateries, cafes, and tourist attractions.

    5
    « Lovely as usual »

This downtown core BW is consistently top drawer. While a hotel of a certain age, it is well cared for and constantly being updated. Our room had marble counter tops through out. I appreciated the addition of a range hood fan in the room for those of us whom actually cook in the room. The room had been completely redecorated. Absolutely no surprises as usual. Check out the Japanese restaurant down the block ... one of the best in Calgary. Go left as you go out the front door. Walk halfway down the next block. It is not all raw fish. Lovely noodle dishes, miso soup, bento boxes (box B is our favorite) but we have not found anything we don't like. Having said that, we have not tried any of the sushi.

  • 4
    « Good Value Downtown »

Stayed here the May long weekend for my son's bball tournament. The free parking is a big perk. Room was clean if a bit oddly laid out but more importantly the bed was comfortable. Free breakfast was just ok -- pretty sure the eggs were powdered or if they weren't they were awful but the rest was fine. Is good value.

    3
« Easy to get to, downtown location »

Location is good for eating at the close trendier restaurants, and new GoodLife Fitness only a block away was very convenient. My room was clean, comfortable and the small kitchenette a bonus. However, the location also poses a problem in the evening for people wandering in the parking lot, drunk and loud. I checked out as scheduled at 5:30 am, and was surprised to see a large security guard at the entrance (for what I assume was making sure no unauthorized guests came in) No issues, and my 2 night stay was fine.

    3
« Okay but not great! »

Older remodelled apartments, can't go on the balconies in the suites. Great soft comforters and pillows. Older rooms nice new carpets. Good variety in the free breakfast. Trying to park underground was a challenge key card did not work and I had to backup the ramp in an SUV. Staff at front desk were friendly.

    3
« Not up to Best Western standards! »

First off the staff were great as was the location with free parking. However there were things that made it less than I expect from a Best Western. The facility needs some serious upgrading. Our windows and balcony doors were not clean, and bolted shut. The air conditioner loud and uncontrollable. We were upgraded to a two bedroom that had only a small couch for sitting on, the tv so far away you had to use a dining room or office chair to get close enough to see the tv. I was disappointed in the fact that the breakfast facilities used disposable cutlery, plates cups etc-not acceptable in this day and age.

    3
    « Good downtown location »

Good place to stay if you need to be right downtown. The breakfast is excellent. There is a small hotplate and a fridge in the room if you want to make yourself a bite to eat during the day. My only complaint was that whoever does their laundry doesn't press the sheets, which results in bedding that is so wrinkly it looks at though it has already been slept in.

    5
    « Great hotel »

Great place to stay - free parking and short walk downtown. Breakfast also included and friendly staff. Easy to find and get to. Large rooms and with a small full kitchen as a standard. Stayed three consecutive times in last few months.

« One night stay for Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo »

Unable to remember when the last stay at a Best Western was, the "newly renovated" BW PLUS Suites Downtown was chosen as it was close to Stampede Park for the CCEE. Convenient downtown location ... complimentary amenities such as parking, WiFi and a nicely varied breakfast buffet ... genuinely friendly staff ... notable renovations to the guest room with a somewhat firm but comfortable mattress. Overall ...quite impressed with BW and this location.

    « Room 206, April 13, 2016 »

Stayed in room 206 on April 13, 2016. The room was very clean and well appointed, contained a kitchenette. The only thing that I found not the best is that there was a bit of light coming in from the parking lot as the room is on the second floor, however this said the window coverings were pretty good when they were adjusted. All of the staff were very friendly as well, my work collogue (how was in room 204) also commented on how friendly the staff were as well. These is a free hot breakfast which was also pretty good. This hotel is in a great down town location and I would stay here again for sure.

    « Overnight before flight. »

Other than wifi being out of service, nice 2 bedroom suite. Close enough to downtown attractions made for easy cab rides. Airport shuttle a bit price for family of 4 at $10/ head. Clean rooms, easy parking. Continental breakfast ok, coffee terrible. Staff were friendly.

    5
    « Comic Con Weekend »

Stayed here for comic con weekend. It was perfect location. Super close to stampede grounds. Free parking. And lots of restaurants around. They have a wicked continental breakfast that was delish. I would definitely stay here for next year's comic Con!

« Another great stay at BW Suites »

Second time at this hotel. They upgraded me for free to a jacuzzi suite which was a very nice gesture. Room is spacious and very quiet, beds are comfortable, free wifi is very fast and great if you need to do work at night. Free parking is always a plus as well. The free breakfast is great, the sausages are particularly good. They also offer express check-out if you would like too. Will be back again!

« Nice Hotel and Friendly Staff »

The hotel is conveniently located with around 10 minutes walk to nearest LRT station. The entire staff is very friendly and helpful. They have a very limited but sufficient buffet breakfast menu which was okay from our perspective. We enjoyed our stay in the hotel.

« Nice hotel not far from downtown »

I stayed here recently on a work visit to the city. I found this hotel a great place to stay. Usually I stay in hotels right downtown but options were not available for me, so I chose to stay in this hotel. This is a 2 km walk from right downtown (Core Centre area). The walk was a nice way to start the day and end the day in the office. I found the hotel staff anxious to please. The suite had a kitchen with a fridge and dining room table for 2. There was a little gym with gym equipment in the basement. A full breakfast was provided each day. The only negative - I found the kitchen in my suite was very old and worn looking. Ultimately I didn't use the kitchen other than for putting milk in the fridge - so it wasn't a burden. I would gladly stay here again - I loved the neighbourhood. I felt safe walking around in the evening. It was far better than the "concrete jungle" feeling of staying right downtown.

We were quite impressed with the room, very convenient having a kitchen with some dishes & a microwave. Also loved that we could walk to a liquor store and a grocery store, about a block from the hotel. Many good restaurants nearby, too.

« Upgraded, spacious and clean... Very close to trendy 17 ave »

My son's hockey team (15-18 years old) and their families stayed at this location over a weekend during a tournament. We loved the upgrades to this hotel. Our rooms were very spacious and the hotel staff were always very courteous and helpful. While we were at breakfast (maybe 30 mins) the cleaning staff cleaned our suite -- it was a nice surprise to come back to a clean room.

    5
    « Great location »

Fabulous staff, clean room, great location. I have a consistently great stay every time I stay here. Its the only hotel I stay at when I travel to Calgary. Would recommend this hotel for business or pleasure.

    5
    « Nice hotel »

Location of hotel is good plus there is free parking which is hard to find downtown. Rooms were nice and clean. There was a small fridge with the option to use a hotstove if you are staying longer. Utensils, plates and cups included. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is free and was quite good. The rate for the hotel is also good considering you are downtown.

    5
    « Great value »

Jason the sales rep was helpful and flexible in our group's booking. We found great value with the rooms, breakfast and location. All in all a good place for our group and being an annual event will not have to shop around next year!

    « Enjoyable stay »

Great value. Huge clean comfortable room with kitchen. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Good quality breakfast with reasonable variety. Location is a bit distant from downtown for walking, however there is a big supermarket close to the hotel, which was very convenient.

    « A Jewel in Downtown Calgary »

Over the years, we have stayed at a wide array of hotels in Calgary. The Best Western Plus Downtown Suites proved to be one of the finest hotel properties in Calgary. It offers superior value for your money. I am a platinum member of the Best Western Rewards program, and my wife and I received a significant room up-grade. The two bedroom suite was outstanding. It was a very large suite with a full kitchen. This property is not in the downtown core, but it is within walking distance of well known businesses and attractions. I should also mention that the hotel offers free underground parking and a free breakfast to all of its patrons. We, very much, enjoyed our stay and have not hesitation of recommending this property to others.

    4
« Meets our family needs »

We stayed at this hotel a second time in March 2016 because it is one of the few hotels in Calgary that offer a family suite (two bedrooms with a kitchen and dining area). I also like the parking arrangement. If you have a car, it has underground parking; if you have a large truck, as we did, it also has a large above ground parking lot. For our family, the continental breakfast was good enough, I have had a lot worse at other hotels/motels. Whenever we go to Calgary as a family, we will always stay here until we have a bad experience.

« Thank you for your warm hospitality »

Great Staff, from Front desk to Housekeeping friendly and always with a smile. Rooms have kitchenettes, come fully equipped with everything you would have at home Free parking underground or top level, Internet is Free, I normally pay extra for that Breakfast is open at 6;00, as I am on the road by 6:30, very convenient for people that are off to an early start to the day. I have stayed here on many occasion , this is great place to stay. Thank you again George.

    « Great location »

We stayed here during the Easter long weekend because I had to work. The room was large and very comfortable. The staff was great, hospitable and flexible. The location was wonderful, close to 17th Ave where my wife shopped many trendy shops and we ate fine meals. Our only qualm is with the room wifi, it was at times slow or not at all. Overall it was a pleasant stay and we will return! Thank you.

Would recommend for anyone visiting Calgary on a trip

Not a bad place. Room is a little dated but comfortable. Stayed here for a week. Staff is very friendly. Breakfast is great. Lots to choose from. Lots to do around the area with a short cab ride. Free parking with the hotel room on site. Rates are pretty reasonable as well.

    « good experience »

Overall a good experience, good value twin queen bed room. Conveniently located between downtown and the 17th avenue uptown restaurant district. Very helpful staff, who let us baggage drop early, and late on departure. They also helped sort our daily travel on the transit system for us. Breakfast was self service, but a good choice of items were available.

« With promo pricing it is one of the best deals in Calgary »

This is the 6th time that we have stayed at this hotel. We made a mistake staying somewhere else one other time. This hotel has a great location that is about 15 minutes walking to downtown with free parking. They upgraded us to a lovely suite that was spacious but I was concerned because they put us on the other side of the hotel facing the busy street. It was not an issue, we did not hear the traffic at all. Everybody at the hotel was pleasant and helpful. The new person running the breakfast room always had a smile on her face. Since Jan we stayed at BW in Revelstoke, BW in Fernie and this BW in Calgary. The breakfasts were better in both Revy and Fernie but we would not let that stop us from staying at here again.

    « fantastic location »

I attend the RV Expo at the BMO centre every year and have stayed on MacLeod near the Stampede ground in 4 different hotels because I thought they were convenient. So I was apprehensive about staying downtown, worried about parking and getting around in general. I was able to find my hotel with no problem, there was plenty of parking above ground and an underground parkade too. It is 2 blocks from 17th Ave which is where there are numerous restaurants, bars, shops and pretty much any take out you could wish for. Then on top of that i could see the Saddledome from the corner of 17th and 8th. I was 8 blocks away and walked to work the next day. Check in was as pleasant as you'd expect and I soon went to my room to find a clean room with everything you'd expect in it. I thought the layout was a little strange to start with but after getting unpacked and looking around properly I realized how nice it was. So guided tour for you: as I enter, there is a closet on the right with a hanging rail and ironing board etc in it. on my left is a wall that extends into the room by about 10ft. The other wall that started where the closet ended has a door in it that leads to a typical hotel bathroom, everything worked and looked good. opposite the bathroom door and at the end of the wall I turn left and see that behind it is a queen bed, with the bedside table between it and another queen bed. the chest of drawers for the room is opposite the second bed with a big tv on. Against the window wall is a desk with the usual complimentary stationary. So carrying along the window wall was a table with 2 chairs and opposite those a kitchen! with all the plates and cutlery, hot plate, microwave. and everything I need to live cheap while there. Breakfast was good and had many options including gluten free. All in all a great place to stay that will now be my choice of hotel when I head to Calgary Stampede ground for the RV Expo or the Comic Expo.

    « Laundry Stop »

We stayed here as they had a laundry room in which me made good use of after being on the road for so long. They also have a little gym and sauna. The room was huge and had a small kitchen. I noticed lots of hairs in the bathroom when we first arrived but apart from that it was fairly clean. Hotel was very quiet except for the people next door having a screaming fight before sunrise one night. Breakfast was good but other guests had very poor hygiene in the breakfast room making it less appealing.

Had a fabulous experience in my stay. It was really great as compared to my previous experiences in other Hotels around the world. Very much friendly staff, much more help, absolute care of the guests made my stay a blissful experience. I really enjoyed my 18 days of stay here! Thanks to best western!

    « Exquisite hotel »

The hotel is fabulous right in the heart of the snow city, Calgary,Alberta. The food is great and the rooms spacious and clinically clean. The staff are always on hand to assist guest, however, I would like to suggest value added services such as pick up from and to the airport would boost high patronage . It was quite an experience during my stay

« Great Value for money »

Great hotel in a decent location downtown. The cost of the hotel was great especially considering it includes free breakfast, wifi and parking. The room was massive, lots of space and includes a kitchen. Would definitely stay here again.

    « Walker's Delight »

The hotel was in the Beltline 'hood, close to Lougheed House. 20 minutes walk to Calgary Tower,5 more minutes to Glenbow Museum. The immediate location , has interesting shopping, restaurants and cafes. The hotel staff were very helpful and personable; my room was newly decorated and had a kitchenette with all dishes, and utensils, only thing missing was a wine glass. I would recommend it and Calgary's +15 for keeping warm in the winter.

    « Great hotel »

We stayed here for 3 nights 2 in December and one in January. The hotel is in a great location for downtown or going to the saddledome. There are plenty of restaurants nearby on 17th avenue that are easy walking distance. The rooms are big and roomy with a kitchenette an the rooms we stayed in had great views of the city skyline. The staff are very friendly and the breakfast is a very good meal that would cost at least $15 per person in this area. Would definitely recommend this hotel and the price for is very reasonable for a downtown hotel.

« huge rooms, excellent service and location »

We stayed in a two bedroom suite and it was the size of a large apartment with a huge living room. Staff was very helpful. Location is great since it is easy walking distance to many restaurants. The free, very complete breakfast has long hours which is great

« Great service and room size »

We were upgraded to a two bedroom suite, it was so big and handy to have the kitchen as it saved us going out for all our meals. The only down side was the noise, our room was on the same side as the road and we could always hear sirens and the traffic, so maybe ask for a room facing the other way.

« Great service and very good location »

loved the service, very friendly staff , good breakfast. arrived there at 2AM was greeted very nice and front desk staff up graded my room to a suite without extra charge , they gave us two bedroom suite . Loved the place, looking forward to go back for next year.

    « Outstanding Employees »

Beyond a doubt, the hospitality provided by every single employee that we encountered during our stay, is what sets this property apart for most of the pack. We chose this property because of the suite style rooms and our entire family (grandchildren included) thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

« Had all services and features we wanted »

this hotel has free parking (outdoor and indoor), free buffet breakfast (good food and good variety), convenient location walking distance to downtown, and good service. Our room was a standard room but was large with two sinks.

« Great Location, Friendly, and Comfortable »

Perfect location between the 17th Avenue restaurants/shops and downtown. Great views facing East. Request an upper level floor. Had a corner king room and was very comfortable, clean, and well laid out. Excellent range of morning complimentary continental breakfast offerings. Wouldn't hesitate to return back here again. There could be some further attention to detail in the common areas - there was a bag of used towels in the hall in the afternoon which remained in the hallway in the morning.

« Good value for your money »

The hotel is downtown in a good location. Super friendly staff. Nice breakfast with something for all. Rooms are clean and roomy. Underground parking which is safe and convenient. We visit our son in Calgary and stay at this hotel all the time.

« Very Good Location & Value for Money »

The Bestwestern Downtown Calgary is in an excellent downtown location close to dining and interesting places. The hot breakfast is excellent and well presented. Clean rooms, excellent professional staff. The breakfast room needs more cleaning especially the ceiling. All in all, this is a very good hotel if you want a decent, value for money hotel in the downtown Calgary area

« Staying near downtown Calgary »

Had delivery of parts near the downtown area so this very handy It's is a nice hotel and the staff are very helpful . The Breakfast eating area is set & decorated very nice. They had very thing you can think of to eat. It was nice to have free parking.

    « Downtown Calgary »

Right downtown, ample on-site parking above and below ground. Walking distance to 17th Ave SW where you will find many restaurants, bars, shops, grocery, pharmacies, convenience stores. I stayed in room 1480 with a great view on the city. All rooms have full width windows. This is a very clean hotel with friendly staff. WIFI was strong and even worked from the bar across the street. Breakfast was 9 out of 10 (add potatoes to the menu, to accompany the scrambled eggs & bacon, and you've got a 10). I was there on business but, I imagine this would be a great location for the during the Stampede as the site is 10 blocks away. The same goes for hockey fans wanting to see their team play against the Flames at the Saddledome. The Core Shopping Ctr and Calgary tower are minutes away. I would book this hotel again.

« Business Visit (Great Experiance) »

Great location, friendly staff and very quite and clean environment. The thing that I loved the most was parking, it is right next to the hotel building and it is included with booking. Also, the free wifi and breakfast just makes things even better. The staff at the hotel is very professional and they know how to provide a great customer service. A big shout out for Abhi at the front desk for making my stay so pleasant and taking care of everything during my stay. I would highly recommend this hotel for business or personal stay.

    « Very good »

I started a new job that requires me to travel to Calgary many times throughout the year. I was looking for a place to stay when I am in Calgary on business. I have settled on this place. Nice rooms and spotless, I tried to find dirt, etc and none was found. They offer what they call a continental breakfast but it was much more lots of hot food plus fruit and yogurt as well as toast and coffee. Front desk staff were very accommodating. I would highly recommend.

« Great location and great staff »

I enjoyed my stay here for the weekend. The location was perfect, the rooms were well maintained and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were well trained and greeted me as I walked in and out of the hotel each time. definitely recommend this place.

    « Good business hotel »

Hotel was nice and clean and centrally located enough for downtown accessibility. Fitness centre is not bad and the complimentary breakfast is good. Nice hotel for a business stay. Room was very large and comfortable. Had the room next to the elevator and couldn't hear a thing.

« overpriced and dirty tub »

this was disappointing. The jets in the soaker tub were full of mildew. but the location was good it was central and I could walk to pretty much everything down town. There were restaurants and nite clubs around so there was plenty to do at night.

    « Nice property »

This was a business trip the location was Great. staff were very helpful. The bed was a too firm for my taste. and the road noise was more the I was used to. The room rate was a good Value The breakfast was plus. I would stay at that Best Western again.

last week in Calgary, my wife and I forgot cellphone in the hotel, call back and staff help me find it one friend in Calgary help me to pick it up quick response and great willing to help. Very appreciated !!

« Good Value and Quality »

Despite the dated and somewhat weathered outer appearance of the hotel, my wife and I were pleasantly satisfied with the hotel in general and especially, the recently renovated king suite room we were given. The hotel honoured our request for an upper level room which I recommend given the downtown location.

    3
    « Aging but clean »

This hotel was clean and aging. Our room was across from the elevator and we could not hear it. The air conditioning worked. The beds and pillows were fantastic. There is plenty of shopping and dining options in the area. The hotel had a free hot breakfast, fast internet ad free parking which is a treat when in an downtown area.

« Budget Hotel with some good points »

I chose this hotel because it was a very short distance from a meeting I was attending. The price was very inexpensive for Calgary and it was in a convenient location even if you are going right downtown. Free breakfast (which was fine), free wifi (which is good) and free parking (which was great) plus location make this a good deal. This is not a five star hotel so don't expect those features. If you need a pleasant , clean and comfortable place to spend an evening or two in Calgary, the Best Western Plus just might be your answer.

« Great Stay in Calgary »

Clean rooms, free wi-fi and breakfast...cant beat that!!! Staff were friendly not too talkative but answered questions politely. Parking was also free which is great for staying downtown. Lots of security as you need your card to get through any door and even to push buttons in elevator!!

« Good Hotel for Business »

I've stayed at this hotel at least once before. I like this hotel for several reasons. First, it's well run and I had no complaints about the hotel room or the staff. Second, unlike many of the downtown hotels there is easy surface parking available and there is no need to wait for valet parking. This is very handy. Finally, the hotel is close enough to walk to both the downtown office area and the beltline.

« 15th floor room great views of calgary at sunrise and sunset »

using public transport catch the number 300 from the airport to downtown $3.15 takes 40mins (get a transfer) catch the tram to 8th street to the sandman hotel then you can either walk 6mins or catch the number 2 bus which stops outside the hotel. the hotel room was fine. tea and coffee making fridge microwave small cooker with pans. bed was large and clean. the breakfast was good with a good choice of food. front desk staff were very helpful and friendly.

    « Great »

The room (especially the kitchenette) was a bit dated but other then that a great place to stay in downtown Calgary. Excellent breakfast in the morning, close to everything (especially transit) I would definitely stay here again when I return to Calgary.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

A great hotel to stay at typical Best Western staff friendly and as helpful as ever. My suite on the 15th floor was absolutely huge (The lounge area is bigger than the one in my house) , 2 bedrooms each with a queen size bed and a kitchen area , one of the rooms overlooked downtown which was an amazing view, And only a 10-15 minute walk from the downtown core itself. Definitely a hotel worth thinking about using if you're visiting Calgary

    « Weekend getaway »

The location and the amenities were great. The room was perfect for the three of us. Even though it was very dated. The room could have been cleaner, mostly there was dust on most of the ledges etc. The breakfast fell alittle short. I have stayed in a lot of BW hotels and this breakfast did not measure up. Would I stay there again? I would. The room we had was well worth the money.

    « A pleasant stay »

Staff is friendly and helpful. Room is spacious with everything a traveler needs. The suite has pots and pans for cooking too. Room rate includes breakfast and free parking. Downtown location closes to everything. Convenient store, supermarket and coffee shop are next door.

    « Pleasant and comfortable »

This was our final night stay, of a 2 week Calgary to Vancouver round trip vacation, with many overnight stays in between. This hotel was definitely one of our favorites, and we were disappointed that we only had the one evening to enjoy it. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, and the service was excellent. The only minor issue that we had with our stay, was the bathroom felt a little small for more than one person at a time, to be getting ready in the morning. A minor issue compared to the overall experience.

    « Comfortable stay »

I stayed for two nights and it was a comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and conveniently located near 17th ave with easy access to main roads. This hotel includes free parking (which is a huge plus for a downtown hotel in Calgary) and a free breakfast (which was very adequate, tasty, and had plenty of options). Our room was clean and comfortable and was equipped with a small kitchenette. The only negative I have to say were the dishes in the cupboards were very dirty and clearly were not washed; these should be checked by the staff routinely when people check out. Other than that, I would definitely stay here again.

    « Excellent Stay »

Room comes with kitchenette and lots of space in the rooms, Great and friendly staff. Breakfast is great and price free. Excellent hotel to stay at. Underground heated parking, been coming to this establishment for last 20 years ,I would not stay any where else when come to Calgary. price and service is better the any other hotels in the Downtown. 10 minutes away to any business in the Downtown core. .Entertainment and Restaurantsts are all with walking distance Parking is FREE, most places charge BIG $$$$

    « Disappointed »

We have stayed here before but was very noisy facing 8th Street S.W., so this time I asked for a quiet room. Big mistake. Our room was as requested 2 Queen Beds, it also had a partial small kitchen. The fridge woobled badly when you opened it, the microwave didn't look safe to use, we didn't need to use it thank goodness. The beds were so hard we did not get a good sleep in all of our 3 nights we were there. The worst about this room was the bathroom, it was so crowded and small you could not even close the door without being squished, absolutely horrible. The closet was so small you could hardly hang up your clothes nor get them out. There is no pool to offer. Very boring, not the greatest places to eat on 17th Avenue. Breakfast was o.k. Positive notes were the room was very clean and cleaned each day. Wifi was excellent. Staff are incredible, can't do enough for you. They were so nice, it was hard to tell them we were not happy with our room. Parking is included which is a real bonus being so close to downtown. For the cost of the room we have stayed in much better rooms for half the price, very disappointed, we will probably not stay here again.

« good chain hotel with good location »

The hotel has a good location with free parking that is very unusual at downtown. We had a room with a full equipped kitchen. From the hotel it possibly to walk 300 meters to the free transportation to the city center. Good location, helpful staff and convenient price

    « Excellent! »

Helpful staff, lovely big too. With two queen beds and fully equipped kitchen area. Comfortable, clean and easy access to shops and restaurants. Only the breakfast was sub standard but hey, no big deal. Free wi-if and parking which is easy to access. Taxi to airport should cost no more than $45. Would recommend and would stay again if visiting Calgary.
