« Totally depends on purpose of visit »

The hotel is past glory. The waterpark is totally vintage. The rooms are comfortable but tasteless. Now, I stayed at the hotel because of a meeting, which made sense. It is close to the airport (free shuttle). It is close to a decent size shopping mall (Sunridge). I prefered having my meals elsewhere, since I do not enjoy breakfast buffet or hotel food in general. The bar is a good option for a more informal meal and a cool drink. Angela is most amazing receptionist I have ever met. She is very service oriented, interested, smiley and helpful. In general the staff is very pleasant and well trained.

« Perfect hotel and location »

Stayed at BW Port O'Call for business. It was nice to be greeted with great smiles. The hotel lobby is very nice. My room was large and very clean. Ordered room service. It was quickly delivered and meal was good.

    « Greatplace »

Awesome amenities and comfort for people brining kids. Above and beyond along with great value. Pool area is fantastic. Staff is accommodating. Breakfast buffet is great so you don't have to leave the premises.

« Close to airport and highway »

The Port of Call was in Calgary when I lived here in the early 80's. It has been very tastefully up dated. The restaurant was good for both breakfast and dinner, and the prices are very much in line compared to some on the other hotels in the airport area

    « Nice surprise! »

We stayed in the honeymoon suite. A very comfortable and spacious room! The staff in this hotel are awesome, from the front desk to housekeeping, everyone we interacted with was so friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant and the service was fantastic and the food was delicious! We did hear airplanes (to be expected from an airport hotel) but it was not as loud as we expected it to be. The only complaint is there was only sheers on the windows and would have appreciated black out curtains to get a bit more sleep.

    « Calgary Trip »

Staff were very helpful and pleasant, bed was very comfy, Lounge was relaxing. We lived in Calgary for more than 10 years and have moved to BC in 2010, we never had any experience at this hotel whether it was for leisure or an event. Needless to say, we would definitely stay here again if we visit Calgary again.

« We stayed 3 nights in this lovely hotel »

Our stay was absolutely fabulous !!! The front desk people ( I'm sorry I cant recall your names ) go above and beyond !!! They pay close attention to details and always remembered our names when they spoke with us !!!!! Our room was spotlessly clean and fresh. The pool is outstanding!!! We ate several times in the Sky Harbour Restaurant, with the fabulous buffet available for any meal. We had the pleasure of meeting Ravi at the restaurant and he personally attended to our every need !! Ravi we love you !!! Our nine year old boy also enjoyed his stay.... something for everyone !!

« Good Pub, great gym and pool »

I stay here when I need to fly out of town. The amenities in the hotel are great, the rooms are always fresh. The heated underground parking is fantastic and reasonably priced. A must in a cold Calgary winter.

    5
    « Layover say »

I picked this hotel because I have stayed here many times before and the staff have always been more that helpful. The hotel is always well decorated and clean, the beds comfortable. I will use this hotel again.

    « Love this Hotel! »

We stay at this fabulous hotel whenever we are in town. It is usually whenever we are preparing to fly out somewhere but have stayed here for a couples weekend. Friendly staff and clean spacious rooms!! I highly recommend it ??

    « Port O'Call 1978 »

Was working at Chemex Labs (AB) Ltd since 1976 and was one of the original patrons of the pub and cabaret. We held many events at the Port including Stampede week and Christmas parties. Miss the Hot Irons and Popcorns cabarets! What a party in 1985. Just about drowned in the Jajuzzi suite. Sweet Memories.

    « What a wonderful hotel! »

Our son ( and then future) daughter-in-law, planned their wedding to happen in your hotel. They also asked for a block of rooms for guests. Well we were in those rooms this last week-end. Although we had a small problem with the main door on our room they quickly dealt with it and were so very good about it. I thank them so much for that. As for the rest of the hotel it was just amazing and can't say enough good things to say about it. The bed was so comfortable, the water park and downstairs pool/hot tub/steam room were wonderful. I even went down all slides. We went to the bar and shared natchos/calimari with our son which were delicious! and 3 mornings in a row..we would eat breakfast in your cafe. Virginia was very good and made us feel at home there.. many kudos to Virginia. Will add a pic of herself and I..she was so good to get her pic taken with me.If I was to offer any suggestions it would be to hold onto Virginia, shes a keeper! :-) Also the staff on the front desk, they were so good as well. We sure hope we get to stay in your hotel again and we are so happy our son and wife chose your hotel for their wedding.Thank you all so very much for the great hospitality and the wonderful service.

    « Business trip - 8 night stay »

Just returned from a 9 day stay at the Port O'Call while working nearby for business. Location was good for me as I was working fairly close by, however there wasn't much else close by in terms of amenities. the room was large with a nice big comfortable bed. Sleeping was never an issue. Close to the hotel yes, however no issue with plane noise. Breakfast was very good - the continental an offer was more than sufficient for a good start to the day, if a little cold on a couple of days. Reception staff was helpful and attentive. Used the airport shuttle bus once which runs once an hour for free, a nice touch. The Jets bar does really good chicken wings with a nice offer on during some sporting events. Fairly good beer selection as well. Only ate in the restaurant a couple of times due to other commitments, but found it to be good food. Large selection too. Never tried the pool area so can't comment, although I had feared the reception area would be overrun with kids, which it wasn't I was pleased to find. Overall a good stay - hotel looks a little dated from the outside however when inside it does all it needs to. Some extra storage/hangers would help though for the likes of myself who is staying for a number of nights. Big comfortable bed though was a bonus. I'd have no problems recommending this hotel for anybody travelling to the area for business for a few nights.

    « Ministry ambassador »

Stayed overnite Great accommodation. Love underground parking. Organized a hot breakfast 10 people. Great meal. Room was okay. Catering (Anne) our hostess was perfect Virginia in catering was helpful and an asset.. Reasonable price

    « Excellent hotel »

We had a large room with a king bed and sofa. The bed was very comfortable. The room was nicely decorated. We appreciated having an extra sink outside of the bathroom area. The countertops were modern-looking. Airplane noise was very minimal. Front desk staff were very helpful. We didn't have a chance to use the hot tubs but it was nice to know that there were two spa areas. They both looked inviting. There were a few restaurant options although no continental breakfast. The hotel was very easy to access when we arrived from the north (Deerfoot Trail) and it was very easy to find our way west along Stony Trail when we departed.

    5
« Awesome Fun, but cold pool! »

It was a wonderful experience. ALL the staff are friendly. The room service was great! Super clean! The pool is great fun. The only draw back is the pool room itself is freezing. Going up the stairs to the slides you FREEZE! And the pool water isnt overly warm either. Used the hot tub a lot to warm up quickly. But other then that it was perfect!

    5
« WEEKEND IN THE CITY »

Another good weekend in Calgary, kids love it with the water park and the optional second pool area. Nice to have underground parking and it is a great choice for families needing close proximity to the airport and shopping!

    5
    « Absolutely amazing »

This is certainly the "best" Best Western I have ever visited. I would have thought it was much more upscale brand. The rooms were lovely. The service staff was professional and friendly. The dining room was extremely well staffed and the food was marvelous.

« Excellant Stay for families »

We booked a room at this hotel last minute and upon arriving we asked if we could get a room close to our son and his family. The staff were very accomodating finding us a room across the hall. We checked out the next morning but realized a couple hours later we would need rooms for another night so went back and once again the staff was able to get us in rooms similar to what we had after checking with cleaning people. The hotel has a water park and a kiddies pool as well as 2 hot tubs which we enjoyed. All the staff greeted you with smiles and went over and above to make our stay an Excellant one we would definitely stay there again when in Calgary Also free underground parking.

    « Not impressed »

Was not impressed that both nights of our stay there was a small child banging on our door. I complained the first night but nothing was done as it continued. There were someone wearing dirty shoes in the pool area and there is a sign that says "no shoes" and 2 hotel employees were looking at him but said nothing. There was a kid skateboarding in the lobby when we checked out but the staff said nothing

    5
« Excellent choice for extended trips »

We were booked on a very early flight so we stayed overnight and left our car there. VERY REASONABLE!! They have bus shuttle to and from the airport. The return shuttle was too long of a wait so we took a cab ($25.00)

    5
« Best Hotel by the Airport »

We loved our one night stay at the Best Western Plus Port O' Call hotel. We booked the room on air miles so it was even FREE. The rooms were very large and comfortable and clean. The pool was a very big hit with my girls. Two waterslides and lots of other fun places to swim. We really enjoyed our stay and will be back when we pass through Calgary again.

    5
« Great stay at this hotel »

I have to start by saying that our first night at this hotel was a bit disappointing, due to smoking in an adjacent room. When we complained the following morning, it became evident why this is a highly rated hotel. Both staff person Robin and the hotel manager took our concerns very seriously, and went above and beyond to make sure the balance of our stay was exceptional. Problems and issues occur at every hotel...the difference is how it is handled. My husband and I left with a high regard for this hotel, and we will definitely be back.

    « Great Value »

Spent 2 nights at the POC hotel and was pleasantly surprised with the accommodations. The check in was quick and the staff were friendly . My room was spacious and very clean , and even though the hotel is located close to the airport , the noise from aircraft landing and taking off was minimal. I was on the 6th floor and really didn't notice most of the time. The fitness room was a 6 out of 10 ( one pce of equipment was out of order ) , but the large steam room was great , with a large supply of towels on hand in the change room. I didn't use the pool , jacuzzi or water slide , but the entire area was clean and looked enticing. All of the staff were friendly and helpful and made my stay all the more enjoyable. Room service was quick as was the service in the restaurants located in the hotel. Parking is available outdoors or in the hotel parkade underground. I would definitely stay at the POC again and would recommend it to my friends.

    « Very recommandable hotel »

We stayed in the hotel for one night before picking up our camper for a longer tour through Canada. They picked us up at the airport, transfer is every hour on request. The hotel is located in the vicinity of the airport, not downtown. Check-in went ok. We had two rooms and both were very spacious and clean. Bathroom was ok too. They are providing parking lots for free. We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel, as no other restaurant was close by in walking distance. The dinner was very good including service. Also the breakfast was very good, no only offering the standard american breakfast, but also fruits, cereals and others. They do have a large swimming area inside the hotel, mainly for kids entertainment. We used the pool in the basement instead, which was also very good. All in all, no complaints, a hotel was all amienties, a very good restaurant and an excellent service at a reasonable price.

    5
« Excellent choice, convenient to Calgary airport »

Nothing missing at this hotel! Loads of amenities here! They have everything you might want in a hotel, including clean and comfy beds. We took advantage of their airport shuttle service and were given late checkout privilege. Room rate was quite reasonable too. We especially recommend this hotel for families and seniors....also a good choice for business overnights.

« Good Hotel Near Airport »

This hotel is within a short drive of the Calgary airport, located in the NE of the city. VERY enthusiastic welcome. The room, which was very clean, included a microwave and bar refrigerator. There is a separate sink and mirror located outside the bathroom, which would be very convenient if the room was being shared by two or more persons. There is a large indoor parking garage. Besides a "water park," with pool and hot tub, there is, on the basement level another hot tub and small pool with various kinds of exercise equipment. The "water park" may at times be awash - pun intended - in children, so the basement level can be quieter. I had two disappointments - I found the mattress FAR too firm for my comfort, and although the desk chair in the room was comfortable, neither of the two upholstered chairs were.

    « Great Hotel for a Family »

We stay at the Port o Call every summer because our children love the waterpark. Rooms are spacious and beds are nice. This hotel is very close to lots of restaurants and Cross Iron Mills. I'd recommend it!

    « No Hot Water!!! »

Right after checking in last night my partner took a two minute shower before the hot water completely ran out. I had to have a cold shower before bed and even when I got up this morning the water was still cold.

    « Excellent service! »

Had a birthday sleepover for my daughter. Everyone was patient with the kids, courteous, and the facilities were great! Rooms were clean and the staff were awesome. Nice to see management around as well.

« Wonderful place for families »

This is our 4 th time to stay at the BW Port O call. The water park is great for the children ( ours are ages 9 & 6). It gets very busy but the kids love it. We only live an hour away, but coming to this hotel is their special treat. They like it that much. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The room is always clean. The beds are comfortable. Altogether you can't go wrong.

    5
« Great Stay nicely renovated suites »

Stayed here with my daughter. The staff is welcoming and friendly. Rene at the front desk is a fun and fantastic person. He went out of his way to make sure that we were settled and had everything that we needed. Fantastic tubs in the rooms and the double sinks were a blessing for two women getting ready in the mornings. Large rooms and comfy beds. I will definitely be back if we need a place to stay.

    4
« Always feel taken care of! »

I usually end up here once a year. The service is always great. The food selection is great and at reasonable prices. The wings are fsntastic at Jetz Bar. There is also many food options nearby. There have been some renovations since he last time I was here. The tooms can use a bit of a facelift but overall it is clean!

    5
« Excellent place to hang your hat »

Excellent place to stay when in Calgary on the way out of the country or just arriving back in the country. My wife and I have stayed at this hotel several times and the quality of the product and the service are always top notch.

    5
    « Great Family Hotel »

We can in late at night because the other hotel we booked did not have parking for our family vehicle. We were offered a room right away and to our delight the hotel had a waterpark. The kids were so excited!!! We were very thankful! :)

    5
« First Class all the way »

This hotel and its staff are amazing. First class food, service, rooms and accommodations. They could not do enough for us. Amazing all the way. From the moment I checked in to the checkout everything was done with great care to make our meeting and conference go smoothly.

« Great hotel, pull out couches need to be replaced »

I love staying at this hotel with my family! We have three little girls and they love it there! We stayed in their nicest room (the suite) last time but have also stayed in the 2 queen room before too. Breakfast is awesome for the price!! The pool is great, staff is wonderful. The room was nice and clean. The only issue we had was the pull out couch. We have stayed at a lot of hotels and we expect a pull out couch to be a little uncomfortable because it's just a pull out couch but this one was painful! It was the worse pull out couch I've ever laid on and desperately needs to be replaced! I almost slept on the floor but ended up putting the couch back together and just squishing on there to sleep the first night. Staff took care of me for the next 2 nights and provided me with something more comfortable. It seems like the hotel is aware of how uncomfortable they are so I don't understand why they don't replace them or at least leave a memory foam on them so they are bearable to lay on. Everything else was great! We love this hotel... just really hope they replace those couches!

    5
    « Incredible! »

This hotel was so clean and modern. Beautiful view of nose hill park too. The water park was so awesome to top it off! I will definitely be back! The staff were also very friendly and professional. You could hear some of the airplanes taking off but it did not bother us or our baby at all.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

Spent a night here while on vacation with the kids. Good, clean hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Waterpark is excellent and tons of fun, 11yr old and 4yr old loved it. Breakfast is not included, other than that I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel.

« port o call inn calgary. Great hotel near airport »

I like to use Port O Call Inn as my last stay in Calgary before I return home. I usually stay 5-6 days because of the large balcony I reserve because it gives me space and a little bit of home feel. the rooms are always clean, fresh and comfortable. The internet connection has improved greatly without problems. The Jet bar / lounge is great and the food is as well. It Is close to everything I need and if I need to get south, Deerfoot is nearby. Great staff and always ready to help with results. I don't go anywhere else but here...

    4
    « Water slide »

This was a pleasure trip for my grandsons and I. Easy directions, great water slide. Breakfast buffet looked good however, was packaged foods that do not work with allergies. Staff was very nice from room staff to front desk.

    5
    « Wonderful hotel! »

My husband and I visited here for a 3 day weekend. We stayed in a king suite, with a delightful Jacuzzi tub. The shower had body jets and was very spacious. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we loved having such a nice sitting area in which to read or watch the large flat panel TV. Given the location of the hotel the end of the runway, you would think that the room would be noisy. But it wasn't at all noisy we slept very well. The waterpark was a blast, I had a great time on the waterslides. What a great place for a family to get away for the weekend. What some people didn't realize, is that there was another smaller swimming pool located next to the fitness center, which also had a hot tub. So there really is a good variety of activities at the hotel for both families and couples! The staff were very friendly, and helped make our stay very enjoyable. The parking was free, and plentiful. The restaurant offered a fantastic Sunday brunch. We will definitely be back to stay at the Port O Call in Calgary! My only regret in our stay at the hotel, was that we left soda and cider in the fridge, because we were in a hurry to check out. I hope somebody ended up enjoying it!

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

Wonderful hotel and always clean and staff is very professional. The waterpark is amazing and the restaurants have excellent food. Overall a very very good hotel. Whenever I stay in Calgary this is the hotel of choice

    4
    « Comfortable and spacious »

This is an older property with renovations to a portion of the hotel. Request for rooms on the tower side. Convenient underground parking with room key access. Only things not working in the room was the bathroom exhaust fan nor the blow dryer. Requested for a new blow dryer from front desk and it was promptly delivered. Conveniently located very near the airport but luckily you cannot hear airplane noise.

    5
    « Recent stay »

Since my last stay they have changed the shuttle, no longer long wait times. I absolutely love this hotel. Best buffet I ever had. Rooms are always clean. Check in is fast, and extremely friendly! Jets has the best steak dinner, give it a try you won't regret

    5
    « Excellent and caring »

I had a family emergency and had to rush to Calgary. I arrived late at night totally unprepared and distressed. Without going into details, the front desk were wonderful and very caring. The room was lovely and comfortable and breakfast was great, again with very nice staff. Thank you to all of the staff. Great job!

    5
    « Customer Service WOW »

Had rental car trouble that kept us in Calgary another night- rechecked in as we needed a place for the night. During check-in, related to the desk person the rental issues that delayed our travel. At the end of the process, she handed me a small white bag with treats, stating " I hope this sweetens your night". I almost broke down right there, it was most touching after a very difficult day! We have stayed at this Best Western each time we flew into Calgary at the start of our biennial Canadian Rockies vacations. It is close to the airport and rates are quite reasonable, rooms are comfortable and definitely the customer service is remarkable. I wish I paid more attention to the name tag of that remarkable desk staff( rechecked in Aug 28). She deserves commendation AND we will keep coming back to stay at this BW whenever in Calgary.

    5
« Best Staff in Calgary »

This is a great hotel with excellent clean amenities. The staff put this hotel over the top, seriously they are wonderful and will do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable. The waitress Pamela in the lounge is the best waitress i have come across in years.

    5
« great staff and care for their quests »

The needs of their quests are top priority all you have to do is ask and they will make you happy. Lots of amenties to suite all interest levels. I wil definitely be a return customer and have suggested my stay to others also.

    « Another excellent stay »

This is the second summer we have stayed at the hotel and the entire hotel is clean, the room is a nice size (I like that the desk faces the room instead of the wall), and the underground parking is great. It is a busy hotel with lots of kids running around so maybe not the best place for business travelers.

    5
« Awesome spot with kids! »

We have stayed here several times over the years. My 6 and 8 yr olds love the water park! The rooms r nice/clean, staff r always great, close to crossiron mills shopping, close to the airport, easy to get to, Loads of great restaurants all around. Will continue to stay here. .

    4
    « Fun pool »

We stayed 3 nights in a family room. The room was large and had a nice balcony. One bed was comfortable but the other was not. Unfortunately we put our two year old who wouldn't know the difference in the comfy bed and she wasn't switching. I can't say I loved what the hotel itself had to offer. No free coffee in the lobby (only a pay coffee bar that was only staffed until 1 p.m.). No breakfast (but an option for a $15 breakfast buffet). As I was checking out the front desk staff asked if my daughter wanted a juice then told me if we needed anything for the kids to ask the front desk (would have been nice to be told that at check in). I am fairly loyal to Holiday Inn and may have to continue that trend. We picked this hotel for the waterslides and they would be the only reason I would return.

    5
    « Great for Families »

Really great hotel. Sonia at the front desk greeted us so warmly and really made us feel welcome. She also made us awarw that the hotel offered discounted zoo tickets which was fantastic and saved us some cash to spend at the zoo. The hotel is clean, quiet, and all the staff was very helpful and friendly. The water park is excellent for the kids to burn some energy and the restaurant has a variety of moderately priced but very tasty food. The room was very clean and the fixtures were modern and the bathroom had a double sink area which made getting ready much easier. I would definitely stay here again and will recommend it to friends and family.

    « First Night Kickoff »

We stayed at this hotel on the first night of our BC vacation. We left Edmonton shortly after work and drove through as far as Calgary. We weren't here long enough for me to provide much of a review. The pool was EXCELLENT! Curious that they gave us arm bands for the pool, and then when we got down to the pool hardly anybody was wearing one. It really didn't seem to matter. We have a nice sleep and a quick continental breakfast, and hit the road again. Thanks Best Western!

« Would have given this 5 stars but... »

I loved just about everything with this hotel my only concern was when leaving the hotel the ramp was blocked by the shuttle and we needed to use it with the luggage cart and we had to push it off the curb and we spilled my baby's formula container and it was full after the spill it was almost empty and she is on a special formula that you can only get a certain places so travelling did not make that easy! Other than that everything was great would definetly stay again! Beds were comfy, water park was good but busy, parking was good and staff were great

    5
    « Awesome Family Experience »

A great place to stay with children. The waterpark is excellent and the staff are professional, friendly, and helpful. The location is easy to get to and convenient to the Airport as well as major routes to other parts of the city. The breakfast buffet was well laid out and I love that it was 1/2 price for kids. We'll be back.

    4
    « Awesome water park! »

We got in at 9 pm and our kids were in the water park by 9:15. It was busy, but the younger families started leaving and by 9:45 it was almost empty. Our kids (10, 13 & 15) all loved it! The room was very nice and we'd recommend it.

    5
    « Another great stay »

I've stayed at the Port O' Call many times for business and it never disappoints! The hotel is great for not only business travellers but families as well and has a fantastic pool/waterpark. The rooms are spacious, clean and really quiet; everything you'd want in a hotel room. The morning buffet is great and the service there is wonderful! The shuttle drivers are always cheerful! The front desk staff is warm and caring. Sonia checked me in and really took the time to accommodate my needs and made me feel at home. Everyone I came into contact with went above and beyond to make my stay wonderful.

This is a very enjoyable hotel to stay at. The rooms are very good. The restaurant has excellent service and the food is very good and reasonably priced. There is a waterpark on site a well as a separate pool and hot tub on another level. It would be nice if the separate one could be adults only.

An excellent hotel with extremely helpful and friendly staff. The water park is a great facility to the hotel helping children and adults relax prior to or after a long journey. The restaurant offers and excellent range of food for breakfast and the staff are very attentive allowing you to relax and enjoy your stay.

The honeymoon suite is amazing. Hot tub, steam shower, bar with high seats, very spacious. Comfy and relaxing if that's what you want or can get really fun and and a bit crazy if you like. Also two great pool areas.

    « Fantastic Hotel »

Hotel was very easy to find and staff were friendly and warm. We requested a quiet room and it was so quiet we felt like we were the only ones in the hotel. The pool was a bit hit with all the kids. The Sunday brunch was well worth the $24.00 price per person.. We will definitely stay here again and will recommend.

« Great stay, as usual »

Always a great stay at BW Port O'Call in Calgary. Staff and service is great. The restaurant, not sooo good. Prime Rib tough and chewy, Southern Chicken meal awful. 7 of us ate, the best thing ordered were the kids chicken fingers (and they were nothing special).

    « Beautiful pool! »

We loved our stay at the Port O' Call Beast Western Plus in Calgary. Beautiful Pool and workout areas; wish we would have had more time to enjoy this hotel. Dinning room looks wonderful;and staff were great. Great location for many Calgary adventures. We would return to this hotel again. Thank you so much.

This place is clean, comfortable and the location is excellent! The staff is friendly and warm and very willing to help in any way they can to make your stay great! The Sky Lounge has great buffetts and the service is great too.

Stayed one night following a family reunion. Clean, large room, microwave and fridge. Water park including two waterslides, hot tub and kiddies area. Bar and restaurant, we ate at bar, good burger. Shuttle to airport was included but they forgot us, no problem, hotel ordered taxi which they paid for. Looking forward to staying there next year

« Great hotel with awesome staff! »

This hotel is really worth a stay. Not far from the airport with quick transfers included but in a quiet surrounding. The hotel and the rooms are very clean and well maintained and the room was perfect to accommodate us four (two adults and two kids). Pricing is very good and parking is free if you arrive by car. My kids were crazy about the pool with waterslides ? lots of fun after a long trip. There is a restaurant on site where we had breakfast. Wow ? so much to choose from, very tasty and freshly made ? really amazing! But the best thing about this hotel are the people. It´s been a while that we met so friendly and helpful staff in a hotel or restaurant ? no matter who was on duty, which time it was and what questions we had. That is really awesome and exceptional! There are other hotels near the airport and some recently opened but we absolutely would prefer and recommend the Port O´ Call. We will be happy to stay here again in the near future. Thanks for the great time!

    « Huge hotel »

Stayed here with my boyfriend while on our way back home and it was great, they had indoor parking and a huge pool/water park. We stayed up on one of the higher floors and the room was nice and spacious and friendly staff. Would stay again and recommend.

    « Great hotel - awesome waterpark »

This is the third time we have been at the Port of Call and our family loves it. We have two boys - 10 and 13 and they enjoy the two water slide water park and the food. Especially the pizza from Jetz. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and spacious. The fridge and microwave are also a plus. The fact that the hotel is located near the airport is a plus for us. We enjoy the quieter location and do t mind the drive. It's about 20 minutes to Heritage Park, 30 to Calaway Park and 1.5 hours to Banff. We will be back!

« Excellent Hotel Especially for Families »

Booked 2 rooms right off the pool deck and brought our 5 grand kids ages 2-16. It was so handy being right there on the pool. We got rooms with a little balcony but they also had some right at the shallow kiddie pool. 2 water slides, nice pool, 2 hot tubs and a very good size kiddie pool. The rooms were very clean and updated. Beds were comfortable and the wifi worked well in the rooms. We had the buffet breakfast which was good. $14.95 for adults and $7.95 for kids 11 and under. The hotel offered zoo passes at half price which saved us a lot of money. There was plenty of Underground parking. Overall this was a great stay and we would definitely come back!

    « Typical hotel »

My son and I stayed at this hotel Friday for just one night. The rooms are spacious but dated. We heard doors slamming and loud noises all night so got very little sleep. We also ordered room service and it was burnt so we had to send it back. It took them 45 mins to come back so we cancelled our order. When we booked our room it stated free buffet breakfast but when we went to the restaurant the next morning they said our room category didn't have that option not would they even let me go grab my phone in our room to prove it so we just walked out. In my opinion the only selling feature of this hotel is the water slides. They were so much fun but extremely busy. We don't stay here again. I'll pick somewhere with better service.

    « Awesome swimming »

Great pool and water slides for the kids! Always a huge plus. When we arrived we weren't given a poolside room as we had booked. the staff quickly fixed the problem and we were promptly moved to a poolside one. The only complaint is we would have loved a freezer in our room. Otherwise other then the rooms being dated our stay was great. Also would have loved breakfast included in our rate. Will definitely recommend to others and stay here again if we go to Calgary.

« What an amazing place to stay with your family! »

Absolutely loved this place - very quiet room, very nice waterpark, hot tubs and pools. Bed was comfortable and I just found the entire experience for my family to be wonderful. From the staff who greeted us when we arrived, to discovering that they had the two hot tubs on the main floor, and then going downstairs and finding a quieter kidney shaped pool and another hot tub with waterfall feature - led to a great experience for the whole family. Absolutely recommend!

« Great One Night Stay for a Family »

We spent one night here at the end of our vacation before catching our plane home. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. Our dinner at the restaurant was very good (butter chicken and grilled chicken salad). If you are catching an early plane, the restaurant does not open very early on the weekend. There is a coffee bar near the lobby that also has limited hours, but there is a sign saying reception staff will serve you outside of working hours (not sure if this is true). There is a 24 h Tim Horton's a short walk, if you need food very early. The waterpark was a zoo (to be expected) but with a 2 year old we were able to enjoy the quiet toddler pool and waterslide. We used the shuttle to go to the airport. The service was prompt (be sure to speak to hotel staff about the schedule so as not to be disappointed in the frequency). All in all, it was a relaxing last day and we would definitely return here.

    « Wonderful Hotel »

This hotel was amazing. First off, despite it being close to many different things in Calgary (airport, zoo, etc), it was very quiet at night. Second of all, it had the most fun pool/waterpark ever. I completely understand how some people book birthday parties here, if we were local I would do the same! Two great slides, both different (1 tube, 1 not), that go into a warm pool. A little pool for small children with their own mini water slide. Two hot tubs in that same area as well! And if the idea of sharing a pool with a lot of excited kids is a turn off, Port O' Call has thought of that, too. On a different floor, they have a second pool, and a hot tub that has mini waterfalls emptying into it. This is a very quiet pool. Third, they had the most friendly lobby staff I've ever met. Fourth, the housekeeping was amazing. I recommend staying here, especially if you have children.

    « Great Family Hotel »

This is a great hotel for a family stay. The waterpark has two slides, and decent toddler area and two hot tubs. We stayed in a 2 queen + sofa bed room that was very clean and spacious. The hotel is near the airport so expect some air traffic, but it is really not that noticeable. The hotel is close enough to deerfoot and other major roads, so getting around isn't too bad...i.e. 5-10mins to the Zoo, 30 to Calaway park. The Breakfast buffet is good - it is not free like other Best Western's, but we added on a package to our room for something like $10-20 for the entire family and it was well worth it, however I didn't enjoy dinner there. Being a family hotel, there is some running and yelling kids, but nothing too bad. The gym is decent (universal, free weights, pull up/dip bar, cardio equipment) and there is a separate pool and hot tub next to it.

    5
    « Excellent Hotel »

Excellent service by all staff. Free parking. Very clean hotel. Kid friendly. The pool in the fitness centre was a nice retreat if you didn't want to be among all the activity in the waterpark. I would definitely stay here again. The only negative thing I would comment on is the prices in the restaurant. They are a bit high. We chose not to eat at the restaurant during our stay.

    5
    « Great Service - Nice Rooms »

We stayed here with family requiring 3 rooms which were next to each other as requested, this helped a lot with young kids. The rooms are spotless & appear to be recently remodelled, large bathroom, with extra sink outside the main bath area, lots of sitting area in the double queen rooms. The beds were comfortable and we had a great sleep. We had both supper & breakfast in the Sky Harbour Dining room - both were great and once again excellent service. There was a small mix up about included breakfast, which the front desk staff ( Sonia I think) and the manager rectified immediately, which was much appreciated. The kids had a great time in the water park, which is also very clean even though it was a extremely busy Saturday. We definitely will be back.

    « Go to »

This is our go to when we spend nights in Calgary. The pool and waterslides are awesome. The staff are courteous. They have a huge underground parking garage that you can keep your car in for the duration of your holiday. And they have poolside rooms with exits into the pool

Good stay however and the facility and the service was good however a little disappointing when the rate quoted over the phone was different from what I was charged.I did not expect that as I am a loyal gold member.

    « Lucky find »

Our flight out of Calgary was canceled, and hotel space was tight due to the Stampede. We flagged down the shuttle driver and asked if there were any rooms at his hotel. He promptly called the hotel, and there was one room left! Upon arrival he made sure the busy, friendly front desk staff knew we had arrived. We received only wonderful hospitality from the clerk, the maids, the restaurant staff, and also the morning shuttle driver. This hotel is very clean and well maintained!

« Great way to spend a birthday weekend »

First off, the staff here is wonderful. They are all welcoming, friendly, and pay attention to detail. Housekeeping is tops, spotless rooms, and they great you in the hallways with smiles. The water park here is great for kids. Everyone was having a blast. Parents could watch there young ones from the hot tub, great feature. The room was well equipped, two queen beds, bar fridge, large flat screen, and a view of a small green space (facing north). My only complaints would be that can hear people in next room and hallway quite clearly. The HVAC unit in the room has a tough time keeping a steady temperature. Either hot, or cold. Minor complaints, but definitely worth mentioning. Tips: - if you have kids, try to book a poolside room - don't try parking in underground parking with a large vehicle, impossible - request a room away from the ice machine - present your CAA or AMA card for a discount

    « Anniversary »

Right from check in service was impecible. Sonia checked us in. She was so ready to make sure our evening went off without a hitch. Wine and roses were sent to room after we had checked in. Manager brought them to room himself. Honeymoon suite was perfect. Stayed here a couple of times on our anniversary. Sunday breakfast was hot buffet style. Food was very good. That's why my wife and I keep coming back to this hotel. A perfect way to spend our anniversary.

« Clean, quiet and great staff »

I booked this hotel using my airline miles and specifically chose it because it was close to the airport the night before our flight out and had good reviews. My husband and I checked into the hotel and there was an issue that I won't go into details about, but the staff at the front desk fixed our issue immediately. I have to give them major kudos for immediately recognizing a problem, immediately taking the steps to fix that problem, and even offering to comp breakfast in the morning at their restaurant. We couldn't take them up on their offers as we recognized it was a mistake and it was fixed, but I really appreciated the gesture. That's the way a business, especially in the hospitality industry, should be run. Our room was very comfortable, spacious and clean. I also enjoyed the water slides. I have no shame as an adult to be a kid again! The actual fitness center was a level below the slides and appeared to be rather small, but had the standard equipment. In the morning, the airport shuttle was prompt and got us to the airport safely. We were also able to drop off our rental car the day before and use the shuttle, which saved us a bit of money and one less thing to worry about before our flight. I gave this hotel 5 stars because it met or exceeded my expectations for my personal hotel needs (clean, quiet, wifi and airport shuttle). While I did use airline miles to "pay" for the room, I know how much it typically would cost to stay here and would not have had a problem paying that. I understand travelers have different needs, but if your hotel needs are relatively close to mine, I do recommend staying here.

    « Excellent accomodation »

We were traveling through Calgary enroute to West Kelowna, BC. As Stampede was on the hotel rooms at hotels were limited. We chose Best Western Port o Call. They do have two sets of pools/hot tubs. One on main floor in front of Registration and one on basement floor by Gym that is equipped with steam room, showers etc. Registration neglected to tell us of the Gym level amenities. I would recommend to anyone needing a place to stay in Calgary.

« Pricey for what you get »

We live in Calgary and bought an on-line deal for this hotel because of the pool and waterslide. This part the kids really enjoyed, the water park is quite big. But I had on jeans and a hoodie and froze while sitting on the pool deck! They needed heat in that place. The room was spacious, but the bathroom is in need of updating. The carpet along the bathroom wall was completely soaked, like could not walk on it without shoes on. We let the front desk know, and someone came to look at it. They offered to move us, but we had already unpacked and were just staying the one night. I was not impressed how easy it was for my 7 year old to purchase a movie, for $21!! I called the front desk, and after a lengthy discussion they took off the charge and blocked movies for purchase from my room. If you stay here, be sure to ask for that. Staff friendly enough, but no one really went out of their way for us. The hotel is in a very industrial part of town, with nothing around it but loud trucks. I don't think we would return, with so many other hotels with waterparks in the area.

    « Awesome Hotel & Staff »

We were traveling as a school group and was stranded at the Calgary Airport due to inclement weather. The manager and staff at this Best Western accommodated the needs of our group exceptionally well! « Great Hotel. Clean, and friendly staff. »

The hotel is close to the airport but you will not hear any planes flying by. The location is very convenient and you're close to restaurants about a block away. Tim Hortons is just across the street if you have the Timmy's urge. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The highlight of our stay was the water-park in the hotel itself. My kids got to enjoy the pool the following day before checking out. Thanks to the staff and management for making our stay so pleasant.

« Good hotel, well situated »

We stayed here for three nights. The reception area is bright and airy and the desk staff are really welcoming, polite and helpful. We had a room on the 7th floor which was quiet, well decorated and very spacious and very clean. There is a water park for the kids which would keep them amused for hours. There is no complimentary breakfast here, but the adjoining Skyharbour grill can provide this. You are only ten minutes from the airport and twenty minutes from Calgary, so it is ideally placed and easy to get anywhere north of the city. The condition of the hotel, the friendliness of all its staff, the adjacent facilities and its position make this a " will stay again " hotel.

    4
    « Nice hotel! »

It is a nice hotel and the staff was very friendly. The location of the hotel was perfect. Close to the Zoo and Crossiron Mills shopping center. The kids enjoyed the pool. Only have few complaints. The biggest one was the smell of wet towels when we first got into our room. The bathroom smelled like they used a dirty cloth to wipe it down.

« Another good stay at Port O Call »

I stayed overnight at the Port O Call before travelling on to Edmonton. Staff very attentive. Although this was a business trip, there is an excellent indoor water facility for kids. I usually stay here when on business and am never disappointed.

« good choice for Airport Convenience »

I stayed at this property because I had a very early(6AM) flight out of the Calgary airport the next day. It is a very nice property with very helpful staff. The only issue was that the restaurant was closed (it was a Sunday night) but the bar was open - fewer choices for a vegetarian but not disappointing.

This hotel was excellent for us. From the moment we walked in wreckers greeted with a very friendly front desk staff (Angela) who was super friendly and made us feel get welcome. Room was perfect and my six year old loved the water slides! Hotel restaurant excellent but really it was the staff that made this place shine. Will definitely be back. Stayed in room 248 June 30 2016.

« The best family hotel you can imagine. We will be returning! »

My two kids and I had a great time last weekend at the Best Western Plus Port O' Call in Calgary. We booked it because we heard that the waterpark was fun, and that the service is great, and the hotel lived up to our expectations and more! Upon arrival, Angela at the front desk was super helpful. She had a small bag of toys for the kids. She treated us so well! We had a nice room with comfy beds. The bathrooms were great. We visited the waterpark 3 times on our two nights there for 2 hours each time. My kids could have even played for longer. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, room service, and in-room movie. It was a perfect mini vacation. My sister lives in Calgary with her husband and kids, and I plan on staying at the Port O' Call whenever I come to visit!

    « Ok - not great »

Stayed here, on a couple of occasions, over the past few months. The lobby and the restaurant are nice (good buffet). The rooms are basic and average at best. The gym is average to poor with good sized space but average equipment. At this price, I would expect breakfast included but...unfortunately not.

    « Great place »

We just stopped for the night on our way through town. Great for the kids to stretch out on the waterslide. Super professional staff, just amazing! Tones of restaurants close by. It's not a brand new hotel but it's very well kept. We found our new spot to stay every time we're through Calgary!

« Great hotel and Amazing staff »

Stayed at the Port O Call as my GF had a seminar/workshop nearby. We went the day before as I was in charge of looking after our 6 month old. Because she was in the seminar for 6 hours the next day, we were concerned that the checkout time would affect us and the baby. We asked the front desk if there was any way of extending the checkout as I didn't want to roam around for 5 hours with a 6 month old in a city without a place for her to nap and feed. They were AMAZING and accommodating to our plight. We got to stay way later than I thought they would let us. As we were going for breakfast that day we also noticed that our carriage's front wheel was locking due to dried mud. I believe either the manager on duty or general manager noticed and offered to get the baby carriage cleaned up while we ate!! That was incredible service. The rooms are very clean and the beds comfortable. The water park/kiddie pool was also very clean and pretty big for a hotel one. I would highly recommend not only for price but the staff actually care about your stay. It is a bit far from the downtown but if you have a vehicle it is very easy to get around. Kudos to the staff and especially front desk and manager (who cleaned the baby carriage) for a great experience.

Awful WIFI Have to pay for breakfast - and it is not cheap Little bit dated inside Great location Amazing staff Good TV's All in all a decent hotel, I have been in better and I have been in worse. Lack of vending machines however was a bit annoying and the restaurant/bar is quite expensive.

« The King Deluxe suite is awesome »

When we walked in the room, we were very impressed. Neither me or my wife had been in a room this big ever. The room had a living area with a TV, which unfortunately was mostly pay-per-view movies. The bed was very comfortable. The jacuzzi tub comfortably fit two and the large walk in shower was a nice feature. Overall, we were very satisfied with our stay.

    « Wedding Bliss »

I just want to write a review in regards to the amazing service I received from start to finish for holding my wedding at this hotel. They were very professional and quick to reply with all my questions I had. The information laid out and was very easy to decide on the details. We were able to taste the food before make any changes we needed. The Honeymoon Suite was very clean and beautiful. This hotel was so amazing to deal with a review does not quite cut it.

    5
    « Amazing pool »

The pool and water slides are amazing! Hotel room was clean, quiet and well maintained. It's very close to the airport and there is not much to do in the area. If the purpose of the trip is to see Calgary, a car is a must. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

    « Excellent hotel »

I have used this hotel probably close to 2 dozen times and they handle group reservations very well. The front desk staff is helpful and friendly and the dining room staff are exceptionally good, year after year and even remember me during my stays. Rooms are spacious and clean. Beds are comfortable and the internet even seems to work. Only downside is you are a bit isolated here with only the choices of the in house restaurant or bar / lounge for meals. Other than the usual fast food chains, it's a fair walk to any other decent restaurants, but like I said the food and the service at the dining room and the lounge are quite good.

    5
    « family gathering »

We had three family's meet at the hotel and had a birthday celebration. The kids are 3,5 and 10 and enjoyed the water slide. We went to the Calgary Zoo and bought tickets at the hotel at a 50% off discount. It was a good location to get around the city. The breakfast buffet was very good, and had lots of choices.

    « So ... so. Just average »

Just average hotel. Nice staff and clean. Restaurant average and close to the airport. Lots of parking. Rooms are a bit dated but very clean. The view and location is average. Nothing close by. Would stay again.

    « Very good stay. »

Stayed at this hotel for one night before flying back to the UK the next day. Would suggest this hotel to anyone was a very pleasant stay. The Air con in the room was very effective even though the sun was beating down the room remained nice and cool. The Buffet breakfast was well worth it. My only reservation was that the Evening meal was not the best.

    2
« Not up to "Plus" level »

As compared to other Best Western Plus properties, this one is well below par. We all's are so thin you can here everything next door. Linens, bed, room amenities were all below par. Head board banged on wall with every movement. Airport shuttle only runs hourly, so you better time it right, and don't arrive late at night. Other people properties include breakfast, but this I need charges $20 with tax. If you are looking for a Calgary airport hotel try the Best Western Premier for which I gave a raving review.

« Nice Staff, Room, But need some LIGHTS »

This hotel is within close proximity of Calgary Airport and has complimentary shuttle service that takes about 25 minutes to get back and forth to airport. The room is very comfortable, super bed and has the usual amenities (micro, fridge, etc.). However, they have to do something about the lighting in the bathroom. I guess if your a business man you can shave in that light, but a business woman needs more light to achieve that "sparkle". I don't really mind the low light in the room, but please lets amp up the bathroom lights. Perhaps they could invest in a lighted makeup mirror that I have seen in some hotels. The staff is super nice, ready to accommodate when every they can. I dealt with Mo and others at the front desk. Mo is very customer oriented and makes you feel like he cares you are staying there. The restaurant staff is also super nice, it's not their fault the food is pretty bad. Both times I ate there were uneventful. The order of some of "the best chicken wings" in Calgary I got were very salty and dry outer part and there wasn't much chicken on those bones. But this shouldn't deter you from staying here, it's a good hotel. One thing I should note is that I did not eat in the better of the two restaurants in the hotel, so I can't judge the quality of the food in both.

    « Excellent Stay »

The water park was excellent for my 6 year old. We spent a lot of our down time in the pools. It did get busy at times but was still very fun. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Restaurant had a great buffet option for breakfast and Saturday evening dinner. Room was very good. Nice to have a microwave and fridge and the bed was very comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone with young kids.

« Hotel - Went Beyond Our Expectations »

The Best Western PLUS Port O'Call Hotel went beyond our expectations. This hotel is conveniently located near the Calgary International Airport. It offers good value for our money. We even received a $25.00 discount as we are loyal to the Best Western Brand. My wife and I were warmly welcomed to the hotel by front desk personnel. We found our room to be spacious and very clean. We, particularly, appreciated the double sinks in the bathroom. We found the water park on the hotel premises to be a real bonus. As a senior citizen, I appreciated that young parents and their children were quite tolerant of this old guy. Finally, there is underground parking at no extra charge. Again, we found good value in this property. We have no hesitation in recommending this hotel for future visits to Calgary.

« A hotel staff that enjoys ensuring the comfort of their guests. »

I wondered whether the caring nature of the staff was due to a their experiences helping the victims of the Fort McMurray fires or whether these attitudes were there previously. Regardless of the reasons I felt that they were helpful because they enjoyed being helpful not because it was their job or that they would be rewarded for being helpful.

    « NICE HOTEL »

nice hotel with great service but the restaurants a snak bar and a sitted restaurant are very expensive... 24$ for breakfast...a little too much for me...The suite we had was great with the hot tub ... A little far from town but in walking distance (35 minutes) on a side of a busy street and even fartest from downtown Calgary... Nice pool for kids

    « Great for kids! »

Have stayed here 3 times within the 12 months. We enjoy for the Waterpark and that there is a smaller side for the small kids and big pool with 2 large water slides for adults and older kids. The rooms were clean and satisfactory for our needs. The restaurant I would rate about 3 stars out 5, The last time we were there, the gift shop had closed, it would be nice if they open one up, that way there is a quick stop for snacks, medications and other sundries as needed. There is a quick stop snack counter but the hours are very limited, I would only trust to grab a drink there or prepackaged food. There are surrounding restaurants to the hotel: Tim Hortons, Chili's and Moxies that are a quick drive too. Parking: there is both above and underground parking, we loved the underground parking in cold weather months. Will stay here again because it suitable for families.

    « OK, not great »

Hotel was nice. Rooms along the pool are exceptionally stuffy (no exterior window) and smell of chlorine and my daughter came up from the bottom of the pool with a giant clump of hair (not hers) wrapped around her arm. Front desk service was good. Easy access to most amenities and attractions in Calgary area.

    « GREAT for kids! »

We stayed here for one night and will definitely return. The pool area was the highlight for the kids - with two water slides and a pool with sprayers, it is ideal for kids ages 7+, and there is a wading pool with a small slide for the little ones. Poolside rooms are a bonus for families - although we found the room a bit dark due to being an interior room, it was clean and comfortable. The onsite restaurant is excellent with top-notch service from staff. Generous portions all around including the kids' menu. If you're in more of a hurry in the morning, there is a little coffee shop where you can grab something to take with you - but if you have time to stay for breakfast (we didn't) the buffet looks great. To be more competitive with other hotels, it would be nice if the room rates included breakfast - but unlike some other properties in the area, there was no add-on charge for parking or wifi.

This hotel has a waterslide and pools for our grandkids. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. There is excellent underground parking and it is easy to travel to events and family locations from here.

    « Kids and Waterslides »

It seems even the friends I have who have taken their kids to Disney Land always say the part the kids liked the best was the hotel pool. This hotel got it right. They are close to the Zoo, the space Science Centre and we even went to the Calgary Tower, but what the kids loved was the pool and the 2 waterslides one closed and one open. We travel with a child with Autism he loves the open slide, his brother loves the closed slide and their cousin who is 14 months loved the kiddie pool. The hotel was clean, quiet - and had a great breakfast buffet and evening supper restaurant. 5 stars we will stay here again!

« Great place to stay for a young family »

This hotel was fantastic. Very clean and modern looking. Rooms very spacious and beds very comfy. Great pool for kids of all ages. Good selection for food at numerous restaurant options. Very close to airport and highway so getting around to all of Calgary tourist hot spots very good. Going back this summer and have recommended to all family and friends.

« GREAT Family hotel ... but not exactly my cup of tea »

Traditionally, I tend to stay away from these Big Chain Hotels. However, I was travelling on business and this is where they put me. The hotel was clean, bed was comfortable and the staff was friendly. They had a small fresh snack bar (which was nice in the am). The big attraction seemed to be the water park! I spoke with a colleague who has an 8 year old daughter and she said that she travels to this hotel as a complete holiday! They travel with a couple other families and the kids prefer to stay at the hotel over visiting the Calgary Zoo! I, however, can be a bit of a hipster snob at times and prefer my hotels to be boutique, unique and filled with amenities such as roof top bars and craft cocktail lounges. The other drawback for me is that it was 20 minute drive to 17th ave (a trendier part of Calgary that has my preferred amenities). For a Best Western Style Experience 5 out of 5. For me, OK - 3 out of 5.

« Clean, affordable, great for famillies with kids that enjoy water slides. »

Clean rooms, comfortable beds, water park with water slides. Poolside rooms very handy for families with kids under 5. Hotel easily accessed from QE 11 highway 2. Easy to get to all Calgary attractions. Great Sunday brunch buffet!

« Best best western in Calgary. »

I come to Calgary every other week for business and this feels like my second home. Robin and all the front desk staff are great and will do anything to make your stay great. Beautiful room, nice indoor water park for the kids and under ground parking (is great in the winter) I highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Calgary.

Best Western Porto Call is the only hotel we use as its close to the airport and has free shuttle to and from the airport . It has very nice rooms and have always been super nice to us while we are there. We wouldn't go any where else have nothing but nice things to say about the hotel.

    « GREAT POOL »

nice hotel, great pool, but expect a ton of kids! two pools, good workout room. but at the front counter they never told us about the second pool, we found it for ourselves. don't park on the first level of underground parking, no elevator access must use stairs with your bags. great staff

    « Almost perfect... »

This hotel is great. Not too far from the places we were going to, yet not in the hustle and bustle of busy downtown. We had our boys (4&2) with us and I only have two complaints. The lighting in the rooms isn't practical. You can't just turn on the bathroom light, it turns on the light outside the door as well, waking everyone up, and can't be used as a nightlight. My other complaint is the prices and selection of the hotel food. I know I'm cheap but we had to go out for dinner because we couldn't afford the meals here. Good thing there's a Denny's not too far away. Other than that, the kids loved the water park. We loved having underground parking and very friendly and prompt staff. We had to call for extra blankets once, towels a different time and help to get the bathroom door unlocked as our 4 year old pushed the button and then closed it as he exited. :( Both were less than 3 minutes waiting, and we were on the very far end of the hotel. Always friendly and helpful! Love best western chain. We used Airmiles for this visit and it was definite worth it.

    « Fantastic! »

As flight crew I have spent many nights In the Best Western Plus Port O'Call Hotel. This Hotel runs off of an amazing and caring staff. For a While I was calling this hotel my second home and I always felt it was true. Thank you for being my home away from home I have never felt so well taken care of. From the front desk to the two restaurant options to the shuttle services and of course management well done!

This hotel is the only one we stay at when flying out of or into Calgary. The reception staff are both professional and friendly. The room was clean and neat. All the amenities were in good working order. The restaurant and lounge both have plentiful choices on their menu. The breakfast buffet is excellent, too. The only downfall we have is that you are charged for breakfast as in other BW locations you get a voucher for complimentary buffet breakfast.

    « Fabulous »

What a wonderful experience. We stayed here the first time because it was a random booking and the best price. The rooms were great and the service was wonderful. When we booked the second time about 2 weeks later the girl at the front counter remembered us by name. Our dog got sick at the last minute so we called to cancel because we couldn't take our dog. They told us they had a sister hotel under another company that allowed pets. They cancelled our reservation at the last minute and gave us the number to book with their sister company. Our kids had been looking forward to the first class water park for weeks and they were sad we couldn't go back to the same hotel so even though we weren't guests at the Best Western they gave us full access to the waterpark at no charge. Better rates then half the other hotels for more quality. As far as we're concerned there is no other hotel in Calgary.

The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and well maintained. I've stayed at this hotel many times for those very reasons. It's a great hotel if you are coming to stay business purpose. It's also a great place to stay with the family. The waterslides are a big hit with the kids.

This was an excellent hotel. Buffet breakfast was lovely. Close to the city but away from the noise and easy to find your way around.Rooms are very comfortable with excellent bathrooms. Free airport shuttle was ideal especially as we arrived at 2355 and driver was very helpful, he even went and got coffee and hot chocolate for myself and my husband which we greatly appreciated. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

    « A great stay »

I flew in from Vancouver for the weekend to visit family. From check-in to check-out my stay was very pleasant. The hotel shuttle & front desk staff were so thoughtful. I was allowed to check-in 3 hours early and was given complimentary passes to the water park for my 2 young grandchildren. The room was extremely comfortable, spotless with all the amenities expected included lots of good coffee. Free Wifi and a soaker tub were really nice. I noticed the extra security lock on the inside of the door wasn't working properly and 2 very pleasant maintenance staff came and fixed it immediately. We spent from 9am-4pm in the pool/waterpark. The water was cold to start with but by noon it had heated up & was perfect, mind you the children hardly noticed the water temperature. It was grandma that needed the hottub! Endless towels, a hottub pool and water slides; perfect for younger children & guardians. Room service and all the food I ate from the restaurant was excellent. The beds were sooo comfortable. I ended up checking out a bit late but that didn't seem to be a problem. All in all the staff were all so friendly and ready to help in any way they could. I'll definitely be staying here again.

Great place to stay between flights or en route to another destination. Super staycation location for Calgary area families. I cannot say enough about how courteous and helpful all staff were. « Super Friendly Staff »

A great place to stay and also great food. One of the best hamburgers I've ever had was in the Jetz lounge. I can't remember the name but it had an egg in it, very good. The free shuttle to and from the airport and free wifi is also a big bonus. The two ladies that served the breakfast brunch were super friendly and efficient, my coffee never went empty once. Right from check in until I left I was well looked after. I will be back for sure. :))

We booked through travelzoo on a deal. Was for a night's stay with up to 14 day free parking and shuttle to airport. Everything was explained in detail when checking in. Stayed here for a few nights over spring break. Used our SUTP coupon for a good rate that included the great buffet breakfast that typically is extra. Pros: Pool areas with slides & hot tubs. « Relaxing and Fun »

Well, I needed a night to get away, here in the city. My granddaughter and I decided to spend a night somewhere, where there was a pool. BW Port O call came to mind and I called in to see if we could book that night there. Much to my surprise they were not busy. Then the dreaded question I always ask...Do you take debit? I do have a Visa but it is a pay as you go, and the lady on the other end was so awesome, she responded yes. Yay....Being unemployed I do not have the luxury of credit, but have cash. Anyway, she was an awesome host, took my information and allowed us to stay the night. Which of course had a WATER PARK....yay. My granddaughter spent 4 hours there. It was awesome...I invited my son and brother to tag along and we sat by the pool and watched my GD have a blast. The pool area was loud due to all the kids, having a blast. It was loud in there but, the fun my little Angel had was worth it. I loved the front desk staff and Sonjia or Sophia (I will get her name right) was amazing. Very sweet, kind and friendly. I loved my stay and will for sure book another night!! Take yer swimsuit and have fun...

« Lovely room, incredible service! »

Our king-size room was very spacious, with a comfortable sitting area with sofa and armchair. But the thing that set this hotel apart from most others was the staff, who genuinely seemed to be enjoying their job. The service was first class, from the moment we walked through the door Everybody from the cleaners to reception staff to servers were super-friendly and helpful and always had a smile on their face. What a difference that makes! Also, the buffet breakfast was amazing. We will definitely return.

    « Great Waterpark »

Stayed her for one night for a family getaway. The rooms were okay and clean. Little run down but definitely not terrible. We thoroughly enjoyed the Waterpark. The hotel lobby was also tastefully renovated. The Waterpark alone is worth staying here if you have children you need to occupy

    « Birthday Gift »

We take each of our grandchildren overnight to a hotel with a swimming pool for their birthday gift. The Port O'Call Hotel with their fun, warm water water park, and hot tubs made us look like heroes in our 6 year old grandson's eyes. The staff was wonderful and we had a ton of fun. We would highly recommend this hotel.

This is a great hotel for families with children. Our 3 children (ages 4 and under) had a blast with the swimming pool and slides and my husband commented that it felt like a resort. We hope to return again soon.

    « Calgary family Trip »

The only thing that would have made the hotel PERFECT for us was if it included breakfast!!! 14$ a person for breakfast, especially when the children don't eat much, is ridiculous. the underground parking was so nice to have, the pool and water slides the kids loved and said after holiday that it was their favourite.

    « pleasantly surprised »

okay, so i was a bit nervous initially booking. we were here for a stopover and my kids really wanted to stay in a hotel with a waterslide. the hotel rate was decent... but I was very surprised, as i actually liked the hotel. the hotel is very quiet and is definitely working on renovating and updating. The pool area was VERY CLEAN and did not have a strong chlorine smell. the slides were fun for the kids. we had a family room which was not "newly" updated, but was spacious, clean and comfortable. the housekeeping staff were very friendly, greeting us in the hallway and making conversation with our boys. the hotel is VERY CONVENIENT and close to EVERYTHING. It is just minutes to the airport AND tons of restaurants and shopping.

« Best hotel when travelling with Kids. »

One word - Pool. Specifically a pool with an area to accommodate small children/toddlers. Heck yes! Also, the breakfast buffet is great! The staff are very friendly, especially the night staff which I frequently saw thanks to a little one who didn't want to settle. Rooms were clean, service was good and we feel we got good value for our money.

We needed a hotel close to the airport after our ski trip in BC as we had an early flight back home in the morning. This was a perfect location and the kids had a blast in the waterpark. « Would not return »

Have travelled all over the world - although only started doing reviews here in the last few years. Have never walked out of a hotel before til now. Our flight was late. We had a reservation but they said there was only one room left. It was by the pool and said we have to warn you there is a strong chlorine smell in the room. I said at that point that won't work though. My son already has asthma. No. - that was ALL they had. We went to look at it. It was very obvious this was an old room. It was almost toxic - the overwhelming chlorine odour would not have been bearable for a night. We immediately went back to the desk and said no. Another person appeared and said there were other rooms. Other arrivals were expected - someone else could have that room. They would put us somewhere else. Already a confusing scenario here. We were clearly told nothing else was available. I have a few hotel loyalty cards. I do have a Best Western one. We thought a BW plus brand would have a better room. We had previously received an email welcome and hotel info- that was appreciated. A manager also came out to our vehicle and took the luggage cart back which was appreciated - especially given it was after midnight and we had to get to another hotel. Great to hear they are renovating because what we saw clearly doesn't resemble the brand. Old carpet, old wood door on room and the terrible standard of that room and exposing customers to airborne chemicals is unacceptable. That room should be taken out of customer options. Left the hotel unimpressed. Won't return.

    4
    « Excellent customer service »

Great room and great time staying at the port of call. But the best was the customer service-we had an unfortunate event happen and the hotel front end staff was kind, compassionate and extremely helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

« RENOVATED Best Western Plus - Port o Call Hotel »

I am back again twice in a month to my ?go to? business hotel in Calgary, Alberta. STILL ? the best in price, great service amenities and the most genuine greetings that I have ever experienced. And believe me, I travel a lot in North America & Internationally. Now this property is in the final stages of lobby, coffee shop, and business centre renovation. There also select rooms upgraded as I was recently in one with new washrooms and etc. That is also a good sign especially when they are all done. Special features that I use are the free shuttle from Calgary Airport, enjoy the pool/gym/sauna, free parking, free internet and a very convenient lobby business centre. As a treat, while I am working in the lobby, the the front desk staff will pop over and offer me a coffee or water. I also enjoy the perfect buffet breakfast with my favorite fruits and homemade muesli. Highly recommended if you are doing business at the airport. Otherwise, it is about 20 minutes downtown by taxi. Very convenient. Drop me a note if any questions. Safe travels & hope these tips help MikeN

We arrived Thursday night around 5pm. Check in.was.easy and fast. We were located on third floor. Room was partially renovated. Old carpet old couch and super soft mattress. Room was specious. We had microwave and fridge. Pool was nice but way to cold on Thursday night. I think AC was running not heat. It was very busy as it was easter weekend. Second pool in the basement is quiet most of the time. It's nice to have two. Hotel is nice. Main area is nicely renovated. We didn't use any of their restaurants so I can't tell you if food was good. We would go back..

I found the hotel to be quite nice! The hotel staff were very friendly even though it was a busy weekend. I had an issue with my key-card and they happily resolved it in no time at all! The conference facilities were also very good and the staff who served the food were very pleasant. They even made accommodations for dietary restrictions and waited around until the last person finished their meal. Great Service!

    « After a long day »

My hubby and I checked in around 1am after being picked up from the airport. Can't say enough about the service we received. Quickly checked in and up to our room which was a great surprise, very large with a sitting area and office desk. The bathroom was large, modern and fully stocked. Good nights sleep, I had requested a late check out which was given without any issue - really appreciated after a very long day. Check out was even better as Prem went out of his way to make sure our bill was correct and that we received our Best Western points ( did not have our card, but he took the time to find our number). This hotel allowed us to park our vehicle for up to 2 weeks and dropped us off and picked us up from the airport- excellent option if you are flying!

Arrived at Hotel at 7 pm. My son and his two friends we decided to get the room for the night so they could use the slide and swim. Service at front desk was perfect. I wish i got her name. She was super nice to me and the kids. We go up to our room. Bed were soooo comfy and clean, I love the welcoming bag if you sign up for Best Western points. I love love love the bathtub. Coolest one i have seen in any hotel anywhere. Went to the pool. Lots of fun. Got up for breakfast and the guy who was there his name started with an F. He was incredible. He was so friendly and went above and beyond for myself, my son and his two friends. Tried to go to pool after but it was closed. So the boys went in hot tubs. Will be coming back in April :) Highly recommend.

Other than Airport pickup service timing this was a great venue. The hotel check in process after airport pick up was excellent. The young lady from Brazil went out of her way to make out stay a pleasure. We traveled with another couple and we were equally please with the visit and made use of both the restaurant and bar for meals and were pleased with both.

« Great place to stay »

Overall this is a great place to stay in Calgary. I've traveled for work and regularly flew out of Calgary. Stayed here all the time except for a couple times they were full. Great and friendly staff who tend to the guests needs. Room service staff, the ones ignored most of the time, are great at keeping the rooms clean. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone doing business on the north end of Calgary.

    « Another Great Stay »

Our second stay at this hotel, we stay here so the grandkids can enjoy the Double Waterslide and the small pool for toddlers. The rooms are tastefully decorated and clean with comfortable beds. We also like the heated underground parking it is nice to get into a warm car during the winter months. This is a great location close to Calgary's airport and they offer shuttles to and from airport.

We arrived here somewhat bedraggled and with a tired and grumpy diabetic toddler. The woman who checked us in, Angela, was so friendly and accommodating and really made our stay relaxing for us. Our two older kids loved the pool. The room was spacious and quiet and even had a balcony. Bi booked another stopover here before we left.

    « clean and comfortable »

I have stayed here many times in the past few years. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and offers both outdoor and underground parking at a reasonable fee if you need to leave your car during a trip. My biggest beef is that the airport shuttle leaves only once an hour on the hour from the hotel and once an hour on the half hour from the airport. This usually means having to leave to too early in the morning or having to wait too long coming back. Overall, I do like this hotel and prefer to use it for travel plans since we have to drive from Medicine Hat for our flights. Although they serve an excellent breakfast for a price, it starts too late if you have an early flight. A complimentary continental breakfast available to early travellers would be greatly appreciated.

    5
    « Excellent as always »

The rooms are spotless and the beds are very comfortable. The bonus is the shuttle service to the airport. Parking at the hotel is free with a one night stay. The food is always good and kids are allowed in one of the lounges. The staff do a great job and are very professional.

    « Good Location »

We stayed here before and after our vacation. I chose this hotel for its location to the airport, free shuttle and many recommendations from friends. The rooms are a good size and clean. The shuttle to the airport was very handy. We booked it the night we arrived, and it took 10 minutes to get from the hotel to the airport in the morning. We phoned for the shuttle as we were picking up our luggage and it was there in 15 min for the shuttle. This was a great place to stay, and if we fly out of Calgary agai we will stay here.

    « Fantastic Service! »

We booked two adjoining rooms for our kids and I, one room with two queens and the other with one king. Both rooms were extremely generous in size, very comfortable and clean. Huge water park pool area- It was super busy and VERY loud! We ended up going down to the basement pool (where the gym is) It is small but very quiet and beautiful! We purchased the breakfast buffet with or room which was really good for what we paid, however if we would have paid full price for the four of us we would have been really disappointed. Unpleasantly surprised to be charged extra for coffee at a breakfast buffet. The hotel seems to be going through some renovations which didn't interfere at all with our pleasant stay. We will definitely keep this hotel in mind for future Calgary visits.

    « Great renovations! »

Best Western you did not disappoint! Your renovations looks spectacular. The family really enjoyed staying in the poolside room! The room service tasted great and we loved that we could eat it on the deck outside the room by the pool! The staff was as friendly as ever... We recommend it for anybody wanting clean rooms, fun water slides and friendly service!!

    « Enjoyable break »

I had business meetings in Calgary, and since the kids had the week off school we decided to make it a family trip. The kids loved the waterslides, and while I was in meetings, the rest of the family made use of the discounts for visiting the Zoo and Telus Spark. Room was clean and beds very comfortable. Some aircraft noise, but not bad. All in all we had an enjoyable winter break.

If your kids like waterslides this is the hotel to be at. Excellent pool area with Hot Tub and kiddies pool. Staff were great. We had a wonderful 2 nights. Great food at the Restaurant and prices are not that bad. Close to Airport, Downtown and malls

« Excellent hotel, with comfortable spacious rooms and great service »

We stayed here for two nights mid February and got a reasonable price when booking through a third party website. The Best Western Plus Port O'Call is a great place to stay and we feel exceptional value. We had a large spacious room, with two queen beds, which was very well appointed. Great beds with good quality bed linen so we slept well. The bathroom was in excellent order, very clean and had an additional sink nearby. Free Wi-Fi was fast and reliable. All staff were professional, friendly and helpful throughout our stay, especially Sonia and the duty manager on the main reception desk when we checked-in. thank-you both. There are many other facilities available throughout the hotel property and the smaller bar which closes at 10pm was a relaxed place to enjoy drinks and food. The hotel was attractive and is in the process of being renovated in part. There is a nice business area in the lobby which you can use for free and a nice gentleman came over to me to ask whether I wanted a hot drink or a fruit juice which was a nice touch. The pool area looks wonderful for children and adults alike. Free transfer is available to and from the airport. We requested a late check-out as we were flying at 20.15 and the hotel allowed us to stay in our room until 4pm which was amazing and very much appreciated. We would highly recommend this hotel and would have no hesitation in staying again.

« First time in a long time »

I stayed at the old Port o Call years ago before it was a Best Western. While travelling to Calgary on business this week I noticed the Port o Call had a strong aeroplan offer on rocketmiles, so I booked in for three nights. I was pleased to discover recent major renovations, the room is spacious and clean with two sinks, one in the washroom and one just outside, which is convenient. They have an airport shuttle (free) that runs every 45 minutes or hourly. Room service quick, menu at Jetz (lounge/bar) is concise, food good. Had the breakfast buffet one morning, also very good. There is a water slide/pool here and on the Sunday there were a ton of family's partaking, so the hotel was a little loud, but Monday the hotel was back to normal. Cheerful helpful staff, I like this place.

Staff at Best Western Port O Call are amazing. They are very friendly and accommodating. The pool area is beautiful and clean. The kids spent hours playing in the water. The rooms are very inviting and clean. I would definitely go back

    « Best is Right »

Best definitely describes this BW location. Very friendly staff, clean and nice looking rooms. I did not get a chance to use the pool but the people in it seemed to be enjoying. Lastly a very convenient location, close to zoo and all amenities.

    « Great stop over »

We stayed here between flights. It was nice that we got in in time for the kids to use the waterpark before it closed - a great amenity and lotsa fun! Our room was large with two double beds and a couch-bed. Lots of space for a bigger family, room was clean etc. Win-Win! They are making hotel improvements/renovations and it's a really nice place. Front desk staff was friendly & helpful at check in. We ended up eating in the Jetz Lounge on site which is a great place too - fish & chips, pilot burger and pizza were all really good (not all consumed by me!!!) We were a bit unimpressed with the morning shuttle. They say it runs 24 hrs but to be more specific, its once every hour on the hour. (And pick up at airport is on the half hour) We ended up booking a taxi the night before to pick us up at 3:30am. We specified that it had to be a van and fit 6. Of course we get to the lobby the next morning and they tell us that the van is busy and we would need to pay for two cabs. Not happening. We ended up pressing for the van and got it, 10 mins later than the booked time but all was well. Frustrating though that at that early hour, they can't accomodate the shuttle service being that there are no airport pick ups until probably 6am. The shuttle just sat in front of the doors the entire time... Regardless, we were impressed with this hotel and would stay here again :)

    « Retired Xray »

Being members of the Rewards Program, we tend to mostly stay with BW. We stay in this hotel for the convenience to the airport. The shuttle service is good. During this stay the buffet restaurant was undergoing some changes which meant going to the lounge/restaurant for dinner. We had good food and good service. Our room met all of our needs in cleanliness, comfort, and appearance. Overall, we would recommend this hotel at stay at.

    « Fun Staycation! »

Stayed here New Years eve. Kids had fun in the pools, however the water was somewhat cold. Room was clean, front desk people were friendly. Downside - New Years Eve brings out a lot of crazy kids running the hallways until 2 am. Security tried to control them but the kids parents were not even at the hotel with them. Very bust place on New Years eve.

« Overnight stay to be close to the Airport »

Free shuttle, parking available for a week while we were in Cuba. Great service, large lounge to wait for the shuttle with small continental breakfast. Currently renovating and I'll be back to see the results.

« Great hotel, great service! »

I love this hotel, staff is so helpful! My husband had to live at this hotel for almost two years, and we always stay there even when I have things to do on the south side of Calgary. :) This hotel has it all, great for business travel or traveling with kids!

Rooms were clean, water park had two slides which were so fun. Sunday breakfast is award winning for a reason! So yummy! Hotel had lots of suggestion of what to do and eat. Has a pub named Jetz and the staff were all really nice. Never tried the salon but props for having one!

    « Good Family Value »

The hotel is not necessarily fancy or does it have luxurious amenities, however if you have a family with kids then this hotel is the best bang for your buck. Its simple with clean rooms and kid friendly amenities. And the best buffet in Calgary.

    « Close to airport »

Close to airport with shuttle service. Renovations are in progress in and around the reception area, but the room was quiet. The reception staff were all very friendly, engaged and helpful. Our room backed on to the pool area and it was very noisy with children. But it quieted down at 10:00 pm when the pool closed. If you are not going to use the pool, and prefer quiet, request a room not adjacent to the pool. Underground parking is a perk and we left our vehicle there while out of the country on vacation. I'll be back! Especially when I need to come to Calgary a day early to catch an early flight.

    « Family Friendly »

We recently stayed at the hotel for just one night, but had experienced this hotel in the past. Overall, while no Fairmont, the hotel is overall in good shape and what you would hope for in a family friendly hotel.. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the waterpark is definitely a feature. Unfortunately during our most recent stay there was problems with the heater and the pool was so cold it was pretty much unusable - to the point our children asked to leave after about 30 minutes. I have to say I never thought I would see the day my kids would ask to leave a waterpark - last time we had stayed here we had to bribe our kids to leave. Fortunately we had stayed before so we knew that this cold temperature was not the status quo for this hotel - I did contact the hotel and let them know - and I was extremely impressed with their genuine concern and their offer of remediation. In fact, it was how professionally they handled the situation that prompted me to provide a review. They showed me they truly do care about the comfort and enjoyment of their hotel guests - I think this is an important feature of any hotel property.

    4
    « Under Construction »

Rooms in great shape nice and clean. Swimming / slides area for the kids was awesome. Food was great too. The lobby construction is less to be desired and can be a little dangerous. Great place for the whole team to stay!

    « Clean Room! »

We took our young daughters to the Port O' Call hotel for an overnight mini getaway to celebrate our middle daughter's 6th birthday. Our room was clean and much bigger than we expected with a microwave and a fridge in the room. We had chosen the Port O' Call for the water park and it is clean and attractive. The water was very cold however and we did not stay very long in the larger pool. The toddler pool was a welcome diversion for our young children. Actually, our family preferred the downstairs pool as it was significantly warmer and quieter. The beds were very comfortable, one of the best nights sleep that I've had in a hotel in quite some time! My one complaint is the lack of supervision in the water park. While there are clearly stated safety rules, such as no running, one person on the slide at a time, there is no one enforcing these rules. While we were in the pool we were constantly being splashed and narrowly missed by unsupervised adolescents. There were two hotel staff present but they did not approach any of the young people who were clearly violating the posted rules. This was even a problem in the toddler pool as a group of young teens were playing tag, racing up and down the toddler pool stairs, and making it difficult for my four year old to play safely.

    « Solid Hotel »

Great hotel for business or pleasure. My stays are more business so I have the choice of kicking back in Jetz lounge or dining in the restaurant which is great too. Rooms are always clean and staff are always professional, courteous, and most of all friendly. Great people, great experience!

« Lobby upgrade false impression of dated oom »

Booked hotel through Best Western call centre. Not informed of major renovation to lobby. Dust and chemicals permeated the air on main and second floor. Stayed in two queen bed suite with pullout on second floor. Room and furnishings were dated and carpet was worn. Hallway noise was very clear and did not allow a good sound sleep. No complimentary breakfast. Location poor as limited amenities in vicinity.

« Great Hotel close to the Airport »

We have stayed her a number of times and each time I am happy that we did. The hotel is easy to find and close to the airport. The rooms have always been clean and the staff has been friendly. They are one of the only hotels close to the airport that has underground heated parking which is nice to leave your car at when you are travelling in the winter. They do have a swimming pool there although I have never actually been to it, it looks nice! I have been to their lounge which is a nice small lounge to be able to relax. They have a few VLT's in there which we enjoyed and you can also order pub food and drinks! I will definitely be staying here again!

    « Amazing hotel »

This was an amazing hotel! The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. We stayed in the Spa Suite and it was perfect. It was very clean and well stocked. The buffet the next day was one of the best that I have ever been to and was not expensive. Location is not the greatest if you want to walk around but it is within close driving distance of many shops and restaurants. I would highly recommend this hotel.

    4
    « Always a Good Choice »

This is the third time that I've stayed at the Port o Call. Friendly service and clean rooms. I particularly like that the rooms are very very quiet. The underground parking is a excellent option as my car is clean and warm for the morning. The Sky Harbour restaruant provides a great dinner and the breakfast buffet is above average. I will return.

« Excellent stay at the Port O'Call »

Spent the night here more as a couples getaway than anything but it had the added benefit of being near my morning flight to work. Excellent location near the airport and relatively close to downtown. There were several nice dining options available here and also a Tim Horton's very close by, 3 minute walk perhaps. There is an awesome water park inside this hotel, really impressive for a hotel, definitely a fun time for the kids. We had a very large, clean, comfortable room on the 7th floor - the elevators were super fast. I would highly recommend this location and can pretty much guarantee that we will be back, likely in the very near future.

    5
    « Always a favorite »

Whenever we make a trip down to Calgary, this is the hotel we always stay at. Our daughter LOVES the water park. Brunch in the restaurant is always excellent and so are the staff. They cater to families that want a room that backs onto the pool for their own private entrance. The underground parkade is also a nice perk for the cold winter months.

    4
« One sleep close to airport »

This is a very clean and comfortable hotel. I have stayed in this hotel before because it is close to the airport and I have always had a good night's sleep. I wasn't there long enough to check out any of the amenities.

« Well Kept Hotel, Spacious Rooms »

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. I booked the 'family' suite which had 2 queen beds and a sofa bed (sitting area). It was so spacious! Even with the sofa bed out as a bed, still plenty of room for our family of 4. I also liked the tiled area when you entered the room, again very helpful getting outdoor gear off/on. The room was very quiet at night, although we were at the end of the hall which helped. The water park is definitely unique with the tot pool, 2 water slides and 2 hot tubs. This may be being picky but the temperature of the pool deck and non-hot tub water is on the colder side. We found it hard to stay longer than 30 minutes both times we went because we were just so cold! Again, being picky perhaps, but there is no breakfast included with a normal room (I believe there are some packages which include it.) There is breakfast at the restaurant that can be charged to your room, but it would have been over $40/day for our family so we opted to eat elsewhere. I was aware of this when I booked the room, but I'm just pointing that I wish breakfast was included in the price of the room. The front staff are very friendly and were very helpful. I hope my review helps you make your decision!

« Nice hotel and waterpark »

Nice and clean hotel, very friendly staff. Water park is so nice and my kids liked it. Breakfast is very nice with many varieties. Free underground parking is good to use in winter. Rooms are clean and quiet. Rooms have microwave, fridge and coffee maker.

    3
« Great location, friendly staff and awesome pool! »

Stayed here for with a large group over the weekend. If your kids love the water be prepared to have to drag them out of the pool. The pool is out dated and could really stand to use some upgrades, but kids don't care about that stuff! My only suggestion is that you book a pool side room early or at least a room close to the pool. We were way back on the opposite side of the hotel and the elevator is really slow so it was a small annoyance to get back and forth to the pool (esp if you forgot something)

    4
    « Overnight stay »

Stayed at the property as an overnight in Calgary before our next day flight. Lobby was being renovated, but no big deal. Tried using my key, as instructed, to park underground, but it would not work...it was late so didn't bother going back to the front desk, it wasn't cold so just parked outside. The room was nice and comfortable. Our rate included buffet breakfast - it's a nice one. Good selection and good quality. We also made last minute use of the hair salon located in the hotel. She was nice and did a decent job.

    5
    « Large Cozy Room: »

Close to the airport. Large, clean comfortable rooms. King size bed was so comfortable. Small couch and table. Bathroom large with an extra wash station from the toilet and tub. Lobby is under construction but that didn't stop our quick check in and out. Free heated under ground parking. They also have airport shuttle service.

    « Luxury at a value price »

top notch, recommend this hotel to families with kids. The water park is worth the extra expense. Very nice private pool for when the kids are asleep. The king suite has a very nice bed and couch pull out for the kids.

« Home Away From Home »

We recently stayed here one night prior to catching a flight out the next morning. This is our preferred hotel at the Calgary airport. We booked through AMA and the $140+tax rate gave us accommodation for one night plus free outside parking for 2 weeks while we were on vacation. The hotel also has complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant in the evening and the food was excellent. The hotel staff has always been professional and friendly.

    1
« Not Sure What Others See »

We stayed here one night for a trip out of town. The parking charge is extra which was a surprise, and the shuttle didn't come, so we took a cab back to the hotel after standing outside at the airport for a 1/2 hour. If you need a hotel that is close to the airport, pick a different one.

    5
« Great service and attention to detail »

Excellent place to stay. Near the airport. Easy access to highways, nearby restaurants and services. Clean. Great service. The Manager really sets the pace on customer service for all the staff. Highly recommend this hotel.

« Great place for our one night stay. »

We went Christmas shopping in Calgary and booked the Port of Call for the night. Had our grandkids and daughter with us. Had a cabana room right beside the waterpark. Great location for the kids and it made it easy to supervise and still enjoy visiting as adults. The breakfast buffet was excellent and service was very good. The only negative was that the hotel was under renovation.

    « Consistently good »

I've stayed at this hotel a number of times and it's never been a disappointment. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, and the breakfast is great. The only downside is that the in-room wifi cuts in and out. I've yet to experience hotel wifi that isn't though.

« Ho hum .... Not that great »

$36.00 for a breakfast that consisted of 2 pieces of toast, a muffin, coffee and orange juice! ( for two). What's with that? Bed was ok, there was toothpaste on the rim of the sink, couldn't figure out how to work the TV (no instructions). Just wanted to watch the news! ..... Thought I was going to end up renting a movie....... Somebody reviewed. " breakfast included!"?. VERY NOISY. Definitely won't be at the top of my list next time we're in Calgary.

    « Amazing Staff »

I was booked into the hotel for a week of training in Calgary, and must say from the front desk welcome, to the house keeping staff and everyone in between, they are the most accommodating and always friendly staff! I am an individual with celiac so eating out can be a challenging experience to say the least. The chef came out everyday to go over the brunch options that were acceptable for me, and offered to make me something when brunch menu was limited for my condition. The water park was closed for renos so was probably quieter than usual. Its a short ride by shuttle from the airport and close to our office so a great location for me. Thank you so much for a great stay!

« VERY clean! Fun Water Park! »

I recently stayed at this hotel for one night with my son. We have stayed here in the past (for 4 nights) which is why we chose to stay again. This hotel is always so clean; floors, furniture, bathrooms... clean, clean clean. They have a fabulous water park with 2 slides, 2 hot tubs, kid pool and regular pool which provides hours of fun for kids. The lounge has great food and kids are allowed in there during dinner hours and the Sky Harbor restaurant is also very good (recommend the breakfast buffet for sure!). We don't get to Calgary very often but when we do go we always choose to stay here. If you get a chance while staying at this hotel, walk across the street to the Aerospace Museum, lots to learn here and another place kids would love to see.

After 25 hours of travelling from the UK to arriving in this great hotel, the welcome could not have been better.Front desk staff were brilliant, made special arrangements so that we wouldn't have to vacate our room until late the next day. The breakfast was inspiring, great choice, staff could not have been more friendly. We decided there & then that our last two nights in Canada would be at The Port o Call. Again,we were not disappointed, well looked after, great room, good food and well priced for the location. Well done Best Western, this hotel is a credit to you.

« I felt like they truly welcomed me »

I stayed here on the last night of my trip to the Canadian Rockies. From check in to check out, the stay was wonderful. My check in was expedient and the clerk went out of his way to help me with directions to the airport so that I could drop off my rental car, and he scheduled for a shuttle to pick me up for my return to the hotel as well as my shuttle back to the airport the next morning. The room was spacious, modern, clean, and had a comfortable bed. WiFi connection was solid and the hotel was quiet. As far as breakfast buffets at a hotel go, this one was among the best that I've seen. I didn't have time to enjoy it as I was running late for my shuttle, but was grateful that one of the staff went out of her way to get me some yogurt for the road. I'll be returning to the Canadian Rockies next May and I'll again spend my last night of the trip at this hotel.

    « Wonderful Stay! »

Read the reviews on this place before coking and indeed it certainly is a 4 star plus! Spacious, richly decorated, solidly built, quite sound proof, conveniently located near the airport and right off Desrfoot Trail. The morning buffets are amazing and the Sunday brunch outstanding! I had all the fresh fruit I could ever desire, chia and flax seeds, soy milk and so much more! The variety is incredible! Our server( sorry I forgot the name) was so attentive, polite and accommodating. This was at the Sky Harbour Restaurant. There is also a little cafe where I enjoyed a latte to my liking because it was very hot. The beds are super comfy and rooms spacious . I used the weight room, sauna and pool but not the water slides. It's a wonderful place for families because the kids get to have fun in the slides. The front desk staff are wonderful as was the shurtle driver. Very respectful and so polite! So were the chamber maids. Really all of the staff are friendly, polite., and helpful The only thing I can suggest for this wonderful hotel is to get softer kleenex and toilet paper and to lower the heat in the sauna as it was way too hot. Otherwise, awesome place fo stay and eat and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone! Would return in a heart beat. Thanks for a lovely stay!

    « Very Comfortable Room »

We stay at this hotel whenever we are in Calgary to get a flight for a vacation-once or twice a year and it is always excellent. The rooms are always clean and quiet. And the front desk always helpful and the shuttle and parking work seamlessly every time. This last stay however was just over the top. In the special requests section I had asked for a room on a higher floor away from the pool area, tends to be quieter....and they gave us a king suite on the 7th floor. It was so awesome! Tons of rooms, and a brand new jetted tub, and the tub itself heated up. It was so nice. A very nice quiet night in a very comfortable room. We highly recommend this hotel.

The hunting outfitter recommended that we stay at the Best Western Port O'Call Hotel in Calgary overnight as we had an early-morning flight out the next day. They were easy to locate, clean, attractive, comfortable, friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs was enjoyable, and the food was pretty good. We didn't have anything more than appetizers really, but they were good. There was a good variety offered on the menu though! If in Calgary, we would stay there again.

This hotel seems to be primarily a stop over for airplane travel, but it offers so much more. The world class zoo, shopping and dining all so very close. All that and a waterpark with two very decent slides, a separate small pool and three hot tubs. Also included is a great fitness room complete with steam room. A restaurant and lounge are available for dining although we choose to eat out. Gluten free pizza is offered on the lounge menu and a coffee bar with pastry and treats. One thing I do miss is the normal Best Western free buffet breakfast. Great stay for a getaway. Will certainly be back.

I recommend this hotel for anyone coming to Calgary for either a business trip or for a family vacation. It's very clean, free internet, underground parking and close to all amenities. The pool and waterslides are a hit with the kids.

We went to Calgary for a short break in the fast pace of retired life and stayed in a Best Western as usual. We found the hotel to be well situated for us having come from a northerly direction. Our room had a great view of downtown and the Rockies. The hotel had all of the things that Best Western prides itself on-clean, friendly and well thought out. We were quite surprised to go into their lounge at 5 PM for a snack and drink and find that we were the only customers. We soon found out why! The bartender disappeared from behind the bar on our arrival and did not reappear to serve us for 5 minutes. We asked about a menu for the snack we wanted and were informed that the restaurant was open straight down the hall. We exited the lounge and the hotel and went where our cash and smiling faces were appreciated. On returning about 9 PM we checked the lounge and found the bartender had done his job and there was only one table occupied. This was a Saturday night and the other places we had visited were very busy. Perhaps there is a problem in this lounge.
