« Easy shuttle to hotel; Easier Public Bus to get downtown. Exceptional Service. »

Found this through Trip Advisor and it the reviews justified its selection. Easy to catch the hotel shuttle bus from either Terminal 1 or 2. The wait, though, can be up to 30-40 minutes depending on when you land and get to the shuttle bus area. Once arrived, the check in was easy and flawless. Rooms were ready ahead of normal check in time and the staff was more than happy to accommodate our needs. Rooms spacious for European Standards and well appointed. Housekeeping flawless and quick. Hotel Staff recommended taking the local bus to Las Ramblas, which turned out to be both a bargain and very efficient. Bus leaves every 20 minutes. Return bus equally easy to catch, and the drivers are often bi-lingual and helpful to warn you of the drop off kiosk near the hotel. Breakfast very well stocked and varied. Typical higher end buffet style breakfast with fruit, cereal, hot beverages; cold cuts; eggs; bacon; ham; sausages of various types and from different countries. Coffee exceptional. Dining Wait staff very good. Decor very relaxing and easy on the mind.

    « Near airport »

We were able to check in before time and get started with seeing the city and they were nice enough to show us how to catch a public bus and where to get off at to see the city of Barcelona. We loved the free shuttle to the airport from here.

    « Disappointing »

We recently stayed in this hotel. I don't really know how they have 4 stars. First of all they offered free transfer which was the main reason for us to book it. Of course our plane was delayed and we wasn't sure we can make the bus so as soon as we landed we called them up. They said they can't wait for us and we need to get a taxi. Probably that is fair enough. But when you are abroad you just want to make sure you are not in some greedy can drivers' hands. Anyway we arrived at about 1 am. Still queue for check in. The room was really minimal and not too clean. We booked a double room and got a twin. But the real problem was the lack of soundproofing on the floor we stayed and that early in the morning the other guests were shouting and the chambermaids were hoovering. So we didn't have much sleep. We decided to have breakfast at 10 (it is available till 11). By the time we got there barely anything was available. We asked the waitress she said "it finished". All in all for a 1 night stay maybe, but probably it is worth to take a taxi or aerobus and go to a proper hotel in the centre of Barcelona.

« Ideal for quick stay »

We spent just one more night in Barcelona and needed to be by the airport. After a lengthy search, we selected Hotel Alfa for its airport shuttle (saving almost 25 Euros), proximity to the airport and on site restaurant. Not realizing we needed to schedule the shuttle to pick us up (in the states, am used to just having them on a loop), we grabbed a cab for the quick ride. We were met by a very friendly staff. Our first room, while nice, was far too hot (no AC). They were extremely accommodating and moved us to a cooler floor, which was most appreciated. Rooms are small but do the trick- great modern bathrooms too. The restaurant was definitely well-deserved of it's accolades but I wish they opened prior to 8pm. I understand dinners start later in Spain but given the dinner took nearly two hours and we had an early flight, it would have been nice for even a 7pm opening. Breakfast in the AM was most impressive- one of the best I've seen to date. All in all, would stay again if I need a hotel close to Barcelona airport.

    « GLEAMING, MODERN DECOR »

We needed an overnight hotel prior to our cruise and we found Hotel Alfa Aeropuerto. We called the hotel for the shuttle upon our arrival at the airport and it soon arrived to pickup us and our mountain of luggage. The tall palm trees that welcomed us as we arrived gave us that "on vacation feeling". The front desk staff was courteous and efficient. As we stood at the desk we noticed a pitcher full of ice water and lime slices to welcome guests ~ totally refreshing. The lobby was very clean and shiny with glass, stone, and chrome decor. The lounging area had chairs and sofas (not sink in cushy, but easy to get out of comfortable) which made a nice area to wait for other members of a group. The elevators were small ~ it held me and 2 large suitcases. My husband and son took the second one with their luggage. Our room was efficiently designed, not huge but adequate for us to comfortably move around. The twin beds were pushed together to form a king with the sheets tucked in to form the twins ~ great since it prevented by cover loving husband from uncovering me. The mattress was firm but unbelievably comfortable as were the pillows and the big body pillow. There was a mini frig and coffee maker in the room. The closet area had shelves on one side from floor to ceiling. The shelving area containeed extra bedding and a room safe. The bathroom was small by some standards but wonderfully arranged to seem spacious and was also decorated in glass, stone, and chrome. The shower had a wonderful rain head. A tray on the counter held a bathing sponge, shoe shine sponge, comb, and shower cap. NOTE: the sponge is necessary because European hotels do not always have washcloths. We were hungry and headed downstairs to the bar which offered pizza and a few other choices between the time that the full restaurant is closed. The restaurant closed at 4 PM and would reopen at 8:30 PM for their dinner hour. The pizza was great as was the very cold beer. We could have also opted to purchase snacks and sandwiches from the little convenience store located by the desk. A buffet breakfast was available for purchase between 5:30 AM and 11 AM. It was very good with fruit, croissants, eggs, cold cuts, cereals, and a variety of coffee strengths to mention some of the offerings. We would have loved to hang around longer and enjoy the pool and sauna they advertise but our transfer coach had arrived and we were off to see more of Barcelona. Definitely a hotel to consider if you are here.

« Perfect for near airport stay »

We chose this hotel as we were departing the next day from Barcelona. I want to ensure that whoever books is aware that this is not in Barcelona and not close to transportation for it but it is a great alternative for staying near the airport. The town el Prat is just a 10 min walk across where we had a fabulous meal on the main street at the brasserie. The staff at the hotel was super friendly, the restaurant and other facilities very clean. Would stay there again. They also offer a shuttle to/from the airport

    5
« Convenient to the Airport; surprisingly very good food! »

They have complimentary airport shuttle service, which will save you approximately 30 euros one way. Their food service includes a Restaurant and a "Cafeteria". The "Cafeteria" is not what it typically means in the USA. It is just a more informal dining area next to the Restaurant area. The food selection is excellent and was delicious. We patronized only the "Cafeteria" and were very please with it.

« Overnight stay for an early flight »

This is a handy hotel for the airport at Barcelona only trouble is it does not live up to normal best werern standards as I've stayed in many , service was poor food menu was poor and once received was of a poor quality , reception service was a joke , waited over 25 mins to get my room card changed as it didn't work initially ( wife was sat in the corridor with our bags all this time) so would not recommend this hotel and shall not be using best western for a while

    « By the airport »

« Perfect for a post cruise stay »

Hotel is located very close to the airport and has a free shuttle service to the airport. It is also close to a subway station (about 5 minute walk). We disembarked from the cruise ship and took a taxi to the hotel for 28 Euros. The hotel provided luggage storage for us since it was too early to check in. We then walked to the subway station and got to the centre of Barcelona in 15 to 20 minutes. We bought a 10-trip ticket for 12.5 Euros. The ticket can be used by multiple people and is therefore a great value. We had a great dinner in the town before returning to the hotel. We had a nice room with double bed. Amenities were basic and not luxurious. The room was clean, quiet, and had a nice view and the bed was comfortable. There was, unfortunately, no coffee maker in the room which I took for granted in most hotels. There was only hair/body liquid in the shower in a big dispensing bottle. There was no hair conditioner. Front desk staff was very helpful. There was no bellboy service. All in all we are happy with the experience. I recommend this hotel to those who is happy to settle for a little less luxury for a good value. The location is very convenient for us.

« Good hotel but could stand some work »

The hotel staff were very pleasant and professional. The bed was extremely comfortable. They hotel however needs to upgrade the inside interior walls as they looked poor. Paint and appearance needed help. Worth a stay.

    « Good preflight hotel »

Stayed 2 nights post cruise and pre flight home to Canada. Room on the small side ,bed very comfortable. Area very industrial and nothing for tourists. There is a bus #21 very close and will take you to the bottom end of Las Ramblas. More convenient to take a taxi. Will cost 17-20 Euros. 4 of us shared so this wasn't too bad. Breakfast buffet is very good, cost just under 11 euro.Very convenient on pre flight morning. Shuttle, you order the day before and chose time.It was prompt and appreciated! Would stay here one day pre flight ,but if staying to tour and see Barcelona would chose to stay closer to down town.

    « Very nice hotel »

Stayed one night before Mediterranean Cruise... Very clean.. Bathroom fixtures were great. No facecloth only 1sponge for 2people. We had to ask at the front desk how to turn on the lights. (Card key) We went down to the bar for a drink. Asked if we could get a light snack and they made us a toasted cheese sandwich which was nice because they were closing the grill. Everyone was very friendly and helpful.

    « Better than expected! »

We were looking for a convenient overnight hotel close to the airport as we were flying in on the Thursday and returning to the airport the following day to meet up with other family members. After reading mixed reviews I was not over confident that I had made the right choice. It was apparent that it was not on the "doorstep" of the hotel, but required a shuttle bus, however this was free and frequent so I wasn't over concerned. So, after ringing the hotel from the airport, we were given easy to follow directions as to where the bus would pick us up. Basically, out of the doors and turn right, 150 metres down the path. We easily spotted the white mini-bus with the Best Western logo on the side. The driver was polite and helpful. The journey was about ten minutes. Once at the hotel check -in was efficient and speedy. Our room was very clean, free wi-fi too. All required toiletries provided plus more! We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, which was not busy, although it didn't open till 8pm and we would have preferred a bit earlier. We chose the 3 course set price menu. (I think it was €19 pp) The quality of the food was excellent, way above our expectations! The service too was polite and attentive. We enjoyed a quiet and comfortable nights sleep Now the breakfast experience which from previous reviews I was very unsure of. It was superb! It was hot, it was plentiful, it was fresh, it was constantly being topped up and being a buffet one returned as often as one wished. I have noticed a mr Tobias responding to trip advisor reviews and when I saw the gentleman at reception I just had to speak to him. I have never met a member of staff so conscientious and concerned for the well being of his guests, it was a pleasure to meet him. In summary, this hotel did perfectly for us the job required, a decent, well priced, accessible hotel for a relaxing first night stopover to start our holiday. All the staff we met were courteous and efficient. I recommend this hotel!

« best designed bathroom EVER »

Hotel Alfa aka best western hotel alfa aeropuerto Barcelona We arrived late-ish at the end of a longish travel day and they were serving dinner until 11 pm. Had a perfectly adequate 19.5 euro prix fixe dinner just in under the kitchen closing. A welcome convenience as we were there b/c we were in transit between arriving from Granada and flying home to the US next morning. (Total length of stay: 12 hours). The room for 3 (traveling economically with our adult son) accommodated the third on a v. cool sideways murphy bed: much more comfortable than the foldaway or couch option. Room was v. small, which for a transit night was fine. More importantly, it was beautifully designed in every detail, which we appreciate, three architects traveling. In particular: the bathroom! Wow. Best designed bathroom ever. Clean lines, elegant shower, nicely detailed/thought through. The lobby had a number of amusing design features. I think my only objection is their promotion of themselves as the closest to the airport. A quick Google search suggests otherwise although the airport shuttle worked perfectly. It just seemed like the longest 5 km ever.

    « Nice Hotel »

Nice decent sized room. Restaurant very nice with attentive & friendly staff. The breakfast buffet, though a little expensive, had a very good selection & variety. The staff at the reception could have been a little more friendly.

    « Friendly staff! »

I liked my stay at Best Western Alfa in Barcelona mostly because the staff were so friendly and polite. The room was not spectacular but it was clean. The restaurant was also clean with nice food. It was very close to the airport and thats what made me choose this hotel. I did book a room (online) with a double bed and got two singles next to rachother... i could have asked to be moved to another room but i didnt want to make a big deal out of it. The downside is that the pool that was advertised in the pictures of the hotel does not seem to exist... not in the way it was shown. There was not glass ceiling above the pool and it is a very small pool. It was not the best hotel experience but i would recommend the hotel to others.

« Nice Hotel in Industrial Location of Barcelona »

We're arrived in Hotel Alfa Best Western in Barcelona. We've drove from Canne France to Hotel Alfa Best Western located in Barcelona, and first impression was Hotel in this industrial location? It was a little challenge to find this Hotel because we never expected to have Hotel around Industrial area which we saw so many Big Rig drive by. That was our first impression, however, other than first impression of this Hotel, it was quite nice to stay at this Hotel. We stayed 3 nights at this hotel and we used bus (21) to downtown everyday to enjoy the city of Barcelona and bus stop is right front of this hotel. Plus facilities of this hotel was very good, room was very modern, breakfast buffet was tasty, kind of small, pool, sauna, tiny gym was OK (better than no pool, sauna, and gym). Staff (Emaniel) was very friendly and knowledge around this area. Overall, we did pretty satisfied with stay in Hotel Alfa, just be careful if you're driving to this Hotel, like we said, never expect hotel in this location of Barcelona.

    « airport hotel barcelona »

stayed here one night between flights. directions to place of pick up for shuttle at terminal 1 were confusing. just follow signs for G, or ask someone how to get there. you leave the arrivals hall out door G, cross a long elevated hall, then take the elevator downstairs. do not take the first elevator down while still in the arrivals hall. once you leave the elevator, turn LEFT (website says turn right). walk past motorcycle parking until you see a row of angled parking where the hotel shuttle vans are waiting. it is across the street from the car parking garage. this hotel's van is white (as most of the vans are). the sign stating that it is for alfa aeropuerto is very small; either i missed it or the van never showed up for the 9:15 PM pickup. there are some other words on the van that may have caused me to think that the shuttle was not the correct one. regardless, i waited at the shuttle point from ~ 8:45-10:05 PM. i diligently checked every van that pulled in. it was an extremely frustrating experience to say the least, especially when i had been up well over 30 hours by that time. i was about to give up and return to the arrivals hall to search for a taxi when the van showed up. and i almost missed it at that time....the driver is supposed to walk up and down the loading area, announcing the hotel name; i am certain that she did not do this for the 9:15 pickup (if she actually arrived). i would not have missed the shuttle if she did the announcement. the room was fine, the bed nice and firm. the combo soap/shampoo product did not lather very well; i used my own shampoo. it appeared that there was AC? it was hard to tell--all automatic, could not adjust, and never came on. i slept with the window open; was a little stuffy, and noisy in the morning, but thanks to exhaustion and ambien, i slept well. the breakfast was good--self-serve espresso/coffee machine, breads/rolls/sweets, eggs, cheese, meats, yogurt/fresh and canned fruit, juice. i will be returning to this hotel twice more on this trip, so will add more comments if i feel that they might be useful.

« Not Close to the Airport »

We stayed here one night after an amazing 7 day cruise. Before leaving on our cruise we had stayed 2 nights in another hotel in the city center and loved it. We chose this hotel because it was advertised as being 4 star and near the airport (which is, in my opinion, very far from it). The front desk staff were very accommodating as we arrived pretty early for our check-in. They asked if we required a complimentary shuttle to the airport which we booked right away. What we didn't know is that the taxi we took to get to the Alpha probably costs the same thing to get to the airport from any city centre hotel. Yes the room price was cheaper and it seemed quiet but once you got in the room the flaws started showing. There are commercial grade soap dispensers (like you see in public bathrooms) in the bathroom and shower, which clashed horribly with their contemporary design (showing signs of wear and tear). The complimentary items in the bathroom included a packaged sponge that I was not sure should be used to wash myself or the floor with (see attached picture). The travel size tissue package had already been used and not replaced, and there was also a shoe shine sponge and hair comb (which were thankfully not opened). I will refrain from talking about the water drainage issues and ceiling stains, but they were present. The free wi-fi was very picky and would drop our connections constantly, it was ridiculously annoying. I was trying to upload pictures to Facebook and to my Dropbox and I kept getting error messages. I gave up trying to talk to my kids by video chat and waited till we got to the airport the next day. There was a safe available in the wardrobe for our use but we would have needed to ask the front desk a key for (it was not digital and unpractical). The cherry on the sundae was the fact that they seemed to have a nice restaurant but it was not open between 4:30pm and 9:30pm. When you have an early flight the next day you don't want to go to bed late on a full stomach! With no other places near to get something to eat they offered us a choice of 3 kinds of cold sandwiches or 3 types of pizzas. I have a friend who also has a room booked there next week and I have warned her to look for something else if she can.

This hotel is nice and have a good location in Moscow but needs some improvments for some rooms the staff is good and friendly but they need to learn more english they do their best but still need practicing . Room service the most bad thing in this hotel . Everything avilable in this hotel you do not need to go far away from it.....

    « Close to airport »

Excellent hotel Only spent 1 night but will stay again. Nothing too much trouble They booked us a taxi for the next morning to take us to the port Only thing we didn't sort out was arranging a pickup from the airport to the hotel so next time that will be in place

    « Unexpectedly nice! »

We missed flight had to stay in best western hotel Alfa for one night and were surprised how nice it was. Rooms are clean and spacious. Bathrooms are modern and beautiful. Food was very nice too! Service was excellent! It's located pretty close to airport and they have shuttle service. If you would like to go to Barcelona you can take a bus or taxi. It will take about 15-20 minutes to centre of Barcelona. However there is nowhere to go if you would like to take a walk. We would stay there again and recommend it.

    5
« Convenient to the airport »

We only stayed one night between flights. Room was clean, staff were friendly and helpful and the shuttle bus was very convenient to use. There is not much nearby in the way of restaurants etc, but you expect this at an airport hotel. The food in the restaurant and the breakfast is certainly sufficient.

    3
« Nothing to write home about »

I stayed here overnight after a flight delay. I suppose geographically it's close to the airport, but after the 20 minute shuttle bus ride it didn't feel like it. Hotel exterior and lobby and bland and poorly decorated, but the rooms are clean, big enough and the beds are OK. Breakfast was awful- nothing hot, diarrhea colored coffee, pre-packaged cold cereal for 10 Euros.

    3
« bittersweet not Best Western quality »

You get what you pay for and maybe less. If you want what they offer on website you may not get. what can I tell you about this hotel plus they should advertise that breakfast is extra. Very nice front lobby beautiful surroundings these palm trees and banana trees in the courtyard near the cafe are lovely some very nice places to just walk and think. Here are the good things breakfast is delicious although it is very expensive for a buffet especially when American hotels offer the same breakfast with your stay for complimentary. The water for the bathtub was very hot however the showers did not work the blow dryer in the room did not work the air conditioning is slow and rattles as yet we were able to eventually the room however electricity does not work without the card in there so very slow rolling down the room in August 2016. Website says that the pool is heated however it is not ... it is extremely cold this was refreshing after you get used to it specially after walking Barcelona all day in the August Sun in the city however it was an extremely cold pool not heated. The pool area is extremely dangerous to walk around esoecially the steps. As my husband slipped down the stairs and when I reported it to the office but they were just surprise and they didn't do anything did not make a report for him. I had to get ice from the bar so that I could help the swelling go down. I was a little bit surprised by the response from the staff when he hurt himself especially because they were so friendly when we arrived and they gave us a room right away even though it was before check-in. The beds were hard as rocks but however everything was clean towels Linens sheets very fresh and there was no problem in the room especially with cleanliness of the room. But The shower didn't work which was dissapointing. I Was disappointed when the blow dryer didn't work and there was no replacement from the front desk I had to dry my hair overnight and air dry it in the morning not my preference. The staff seem to be very good at working and keeping things clean i saw a lady clean the front and sweep everything whilel I ate breakfast in the morning she seemed to be the hardest-working person on this day. She was very impressive. The guy at the bar was so wonderful on Friday August 26th when we checked in and made me a delicious espresso and was so nice. I expected that the name and quality to be congruent with the Best Western quality that I receive in the United States of however I was mistaken it is not the same qualities that Americans are used to with Best Western so beware of that it is inexpensive close to the airport so you get what you pay for it's an average at best hotel.

    « Enjoyed our stay »

We spent one night in Hotel Alfa, we felt welcome by the staff. Everybody was very corteous. Food at their cafe was delicious! Highly reccomend it. Very close to the airport also there is a bus stop at the corner to get to town it's only about 20min.

Got to the hotel @ 6am to spend a day in Barcelona Spain. Was able to get a room relativity quickly :). The young lady @ your front desk was polite , Kind and helpful. rooms were clean and comfortable. WE decided to tax a Bus to town (2.15 Euro's) and about 23 min. it was a direct run. and dropped us off in town by Not far from World Trade center. Had a shuttle to the airport and a wake up call . had a Nice time. would go back again

« Nice hotel but far from town »

The staff here (ex - Sylvia) are WONDERFUL! So helpful, polite, and knowledgeable. The only problem is that this hotel is in an industrial area snd a 20 Euro taxi ride from downtown. But the rooms are great (really new and clean) and the food is good!

« Very good for visitors in Mercabarna »

The Mercabarna wholesale market of fruits its just in the back, you can see it from the window and walk 50 meters to the main gate. Subway station is 800m from the Hotel and brings you to downtown or airport. You can rent bikes to seightseen in the river near by. Room is well decorated and modern for a business travaller. Breakfast is typical for an European hotel, nothing extra. Free shuttle bus to the Airport. I think it was overpriced as a 5 stars Renaissance in down town was charging the same.

« perfect roons for traveling guys »

We went to a trip to Barcelona. Sightseeing and beach was the aim. The o the other was to find a airport close hotel. The first surprising service was a fee free transfer from the airport. We weren't able to check in in the early morning but it was no problem to find a room for dressing and storing the luggage. After a long day in the city we approached to the hotels and our room. All was clean and very comfortable. The third bed we needed was prepared and we had a sweet silent dream. Thank you very much for the great service!

this is a clean hotel offering shuttle service from airport. we arrived at a busy time and had to wait several minutes for the shuttle. The service at the hotel was above average. Good hotel for price. not close to any attractions or good food

« Best destination if you have flight »

I've been in the hotel only one night, i made it my final destination before my return flight to my country, because it is close to airport and also they have Airport shuttle, so I guarantee my ride to Barcelona Airport, the hotel is nice I couldn't take pictures because I was very tired the room is nice and clean, the stuff are helpful nice I like to thanks them all

    4
« Close to the airport »

I stayed in this hotel for one night only, as I needed to take a flight early on the next morning. I had the possibility to reserve the hotel by phone: really useful. They have a shuttle that leave on every 30 minutes that have to be reserved. They leave you in front of the departure hall. I will return in case

    « A good airport hotel! »

For our last night in Barcelona after our cruise, my cousin and I chose Best Western Alfa Aeropuerto. I must say we were pleasantly surprised. While the airport hotel part may be a bit misleading (you have to get a free shuttle to the hotel---more about that later), its still a nice little hotel, especially for the price. The staff was very friendly and helpful with any questions we had or any information we needed. They also gave me change for 20 euros so that I could ride the bus into the city center. The air conditioning worked well (which was nice after another hotel we stayed in pre-cruise) and the room was clean with a nice big bathroom and walk-in shower. The hotel would be perfect except for the location. However, if you are willing to ride a bus or take a taxi into the city and spend more for transportation, its worth looking into. To be honest, I would consider it next time just for the air conditioning! The hotel offers drinks and snacks for sale (high priced of course) and there is a restaurant bar that you can order and room service, though we never tried either. Concerning the shuttle: The hotel is about 15 minutes or so from the airport. This was the biggest issue I had with the hotel. I don't mind getting a shuttle to the hotel and the shuttle is free, which is nice. The problem was that we had to wait over 30 minutes in the hot sun for the shuttle to finally come around. After a flight from Athens, we just wanted to get to our room and relax! Other shuttles were coming around every 15 minutes or less but we finally had to call to make certain when the shuttle was coming. Once we got into the shuttle, it was a quick ride. For the return trip in the morning, be sure and let them know in the morning what time you leave and they will schedule a shuttle for you to leave for the airport. Bottom line: Great price, not-so great location unless your willing to travel via bus/taxi. Good air conditioning and clean rooms with a good-sized bathroom.

Needed to stay overnight for an early flight. We were exhausted. The room was great. The bathroom was so nice. For a best western...it was fancy. They have a shuttle to a different from the airport. Little mini market in hotel.

    « One night stay »

Room was clean, perfect for resting and recharging before going on a cruise! They also have a restaurant and bar downstairs which is great bc there's not many options for food nearby. And the food isn't bad either! I had a goat cheese and pepper pizza and it was great. It is a little loud outside so don't plan on sleeping with the windows open. It was also a little hot in the room too. There is a free shuttle from the airport to this hotel because it is not directly. The shuttle comes around every 30 minutes or so, but there is no timetable, so you just kind of have to stand outside the shuttle area and wait, but it will come I promise. Taxi fee to the port was like 27 € if I remember correctly. Good option for convenience.

« Great amenities make this a great value! »

This hotel is close to the airport, provides an airport shuttle, has a cafeteria and a restaurant and a swimming pool and sauna. Although the area is more industrial, there are walking/bike paths along the delta and El Prat Park. Bikes are available to rent from the hotel. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful.

« Great stay, great service »

We were there to sleep before travelling to Menorca island and the service as a whole is perfect for the needs we had. They have a free shuttle service that takes us to the airport (in check-in they tell you what time you need to reserve), a great breakfast buffet, very friendly staff, nice and spacious rooms. Additionally the have a little shop just behind reception in which they sell bath related items (cream for shaving, ), souvenirs and chocolates. Recommended.

« Not an airport hotel »

It all starts at the airport. Hotel Alfa profiles itself as an airport hotel, but it isn't actually connected to the building (not even close!). So one needs to use the free shuttle service. Finding this is a challenge. The signs at the airport are clear enough. But once at the shuttle bus place there's no time table and no assigned parking spots. Guests have to randomly run around to check if the shuttle bus that stops belongs to their hotel of choice. The shuttle bus from the Alfa Hotel had a story to tell. Literally! The "check engine" light was on all the time. Also the "oil" warning was on, requesting the driver to stop, immediately. When I said something about this, the driver simply replied the warning lights where broken rather than the engine. Still, if the engine really breaks down the vehicle will loose braking power and steering power and that's frightening. Even faulty warning lights should have been checked right away! Aside from this, the Hotel Alfa is a decent place. The inside looks modern and clean. For a remote hotel (it isn't close to the airport or the city centre) it offers a lot of services and facilities. My room (#401) also looked modern and clean. One thing that needs improvement is sound insulation, because I couldn't just hear the people in the other room talk I could even hear every sound of their smartphones! When a PLING sounded, I thought it was a message arriving on my phone while in fact it was the neighbour's phone. Breakfast is very relaxed: it's available until 11 am, so one can sleep in late and still enjoy breakfast.

    « Lovely »

Stayed here for 2 nights, very nice stay, room has everything you would need, fridge which is stocked with drinks daily, nice bottle of wine left in our room as it was my friends birthday, beds comfy, very close to public transport, bus stop right outside the hotel that will take you direct to Barcelona, staff are lovely and helpful, would stay here again :)

    « Long stay »

Hotel was nice. Staff very friendly. Stayed for 13 days on business Room was spacious , clean and comfortable. Hotel is not in the greatest area but there is a bus just outside the door of hotel and a metro stop 10min walk . My only complaint was restaurant is open 12-4p and 830p-11p. For non Europeans dinner times might be too late and nothing around hotel as far as dining options

« Barcelona long weekend stay. »

Hotel was good but no where to go near it. You could however get to the main part of Barcelona, Las Ramblas etc by using the No 21 bus with the bus stop right outside the hotel or a 10 minute walk up the road to get onto the metro.

    « Airport Hotel »

This hotel is not a really fancy one. But the location is good! it is close to the airport. you can get to the airport by free airport shuttle. The room was quite good, clean, and comfortable. Wifi was free and quite fast!

« good hotel close to airport »

Hotel was reasonably priced and close to airport with free airport shuttle. Bathroom was nice and clean. Ate sandwiches at bar area and they were ok to good. there is not much in the immediate area so without a car restaurant/bar is really only option. We would probably stay there again if we needed a hotel close to the airport.

« Overnight stay for next day flight »

Hotel was nice and staff friendly, not all staff could speak English. Shuttle bus and wifi was very good and free which was a bonus. Breakfast was included in the price we paid (€10 approx) but not much hot left only bacon which looked greasy anyway. Opted for dinky crusty roll with ham and cheese but ran out so 4 dinky rolls had to feed 3 of us. We asked for more but they said they had ran out. No other options unless you like thick white bread or cereal with milk (not chilled so quite warm). No croissants left either. We ate in the restaurant €19.50 for a set menu (3 courses) which was nice but if you opt for the normal menu it can be quite expensive.

« Very comfortable and efficient airport hotel »

My husband and I stayed at this hotel before taking a morning flight out of Barcelona. After reading some of the reviews on trip advisor we were surprised to find the hotel so nice and accommodating. The staff were all efficient and friendly, the room was very nice with modern fixtures and large for a European hotel. The shuttle to the airport was efficient and on time. The restaurant was fine.

« Great Price, Close to Airport and Accesible to the City »

Great price, close to a Metro Station, Great connection to Airport via Free Shutte Bus. Restaurant has a good variety. Pizza is a must. Staff is good and speaks Spanish and English fluently. There is a market near the hotel. Will return to this hotel definitely.

« Shame the Shuttle Lets Them Down! »

Stayed at this hotel for one night pre cruise. Easy check in and check out on departure. Reception desk staff friendly and helpful. Our room was nicely appointed, very clean with a good bathroom and very good water pressure. WiFi worked very well. Although the hotel is in an industrial area, if you go out the hotel, turn left and walk about 5 minutes to where the market area is, you will find quite a few bars and restaurants to eat in. Some of them stay open 24 hours a day!! We did this as we didn't want to wait until 8.30pm for the hotel dining room to open. Although we didn't eat in the hotel, the menus and pricing looked very acceptable. The Airport shuttle service definitely needs to be improved. We had to wait for 45 minutes from when we called the hotel, which on a hot day, with nowhere to sit or shelter from the sun, is not acceptable. Shuttles from other hotels arrived 2 or 3 times whilst we were waiting. This seems a common complaint for this hotel. It would be better not to offer the service if it cannot be improved. Next day, the taxi from the hotel to the cruise port cost 30€ (no hotel shuttle available). Overall we had a good stay at his hotel and would use it again, especially if the shuttle service was improved.

« Good Airport Hotel With Shuttle Service »

We needed a hotel to stay at for 2 nights while we waited for our Cruise departure. The Best Western Alfa met our needs in two ways, it had a convenient shuttle from the airport and there was a bus stop into downtown Barcelona right in front of the hotel. The hotel itself was not a usual airport hotel, it was over 20 minutes away in a totally commercial and truck stop area and isolated from any services. Hotel did however have a good restaurant that opened late in evening and had passable food. If you need a good inexpensive airport hotel in Barcelona, give the Best Western Alfa try.

    « Nice Stay »

Rooms are very nice and the Restaurant was very nice too. Stayed here for two nights on business and ate in the hotel restaurant both nights. The food was excellent and staff very friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable. The hotel offers a free bus to Barcelona town and transit from the airport very helpful.

« Not Your Typical Best Western Hotel »

Located in an isolated part of Barcelona. Far away from shops and restaurants. Very disappointed in food service within the hotel. Food service staff were unfriendly and uninterested in their customers. An icy wecome to any and all that ate there. Very tiny guest service area.

« Nice hotel close to airport »

We finished our transatlantic cruise from Tampa to Barcelona, and were looking for a hotel to fly out the next morning. Many of the downtown hotels were booked, so we decided on the Hotel Alfa Aeropuerto in order to make sure we made our flight out. We were dropped off at the airport after our tour of Barcelona, and called to get the shuttle. Unfortunately the shuttle wasn't marked very well -- it said "FONT" in big orange letters, and "Alfa" on some papers taped to the windows of the shuttle. We were expecting to see the "Best Western" logo, so we missed it once, and almost missed it again. Partly our fault, partly their fault. The hotel itself doesn't look like much from the outside. It is in an industrial area near the airport. Once we got to the hotel, checking in was fine. We got a room over the kitchen (124), which was a bit noisy until around midnight. Fortunately our white noise apps covered most of the noises. However, consider asking for a room away from the over the kitchen. The room itself was very nice. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was very modern. I went down and looked at the pool and sauna; would have used them if I had more time. We wanted to have an early dinner due to our morning flight. No dice on the restaurant -- it started serving dinner at 8:30pm. I know that Spain eats late, but not all hotel customers are from the local area. They did have food for sale next to the front desk. There was also a gas station with some groceries and sandwiches for sale, which were actually very good. Other than that, you are pretty much landlocked in this hotel. One item of surprise was that there is a subway station about 800 metres from the hotel. With enough time, one could stay at this hotel and use the subway system to go to downtown, restaurants, or even the airport. Definitely worth remembering for later trips to Barcelona. The staff were all friendly, spoke English, and were always smiling.

« Business or Overnight Stay »

We needed a hotel near the airport so we could return the next day to meet friends. Seemed to fit the bill. We assumed it was close to the airport and a shuttle was provided. Shuttle directions were good and we found it right away. 20 min. drive which you could have never have found on your own. Hotel is in the middle of a commercial area, nothing of interest close by. Spent the evening having a drink and dinner in the lounge which was very nice and reasonably priced. Room was nice, very modern bathroom with tub. Good buffet breakfast was extra. Easy shuttle back to the airport in the morning. (Must be reserved)

    « Nice hotel »

Nice, inexpensive hotel outside of the city. If you take public transportation, you need to allow about an hour to get to the city, but the price makes it a good option. The bus stop is right outside of the hotel. Friendly, helpful staff.

« Getting up is difficult except in the morning »

I am not sure if this is a feature of the hotel to make sure no one is late for the morning airport shuttles but trying to get close to your partner in the provided king bed (i.e. two singles push together) was impossible. Any amorous approach towards my wife resulted in an ever-widening chasm between the easily shifting beds. The fear of falling into an abyss of dust-bunnies, or the remains of previous bed users tempered any thoughts of "last night in Spain" fireworks. Perhaps it was his knowledge of what was not going to transpire that evening which made the bartender so deadpan when I asked him to uncork a bottle of wine for our planned soiree.

« Great Hotel, Bad Reservation Service »

Tried to book this hotel for my parents through "Gala Hotels." They provided me a reservation, room, confirmation code, and charged my credit card--only to then later email and state I did not have a room or reservation. They would give me a room at another hotel once I replied. I replied within ten minutes but they said they could not give me a room at that hotel for the rate they quoted. My parents meanwhile went to the lobby at the Best Western Alfa Aeropuerto and said the hotel looked great and the staff was amazing. I would recommend they stop using Gala Hotels as a booking agent.

« Convenient for the airport »

I chose this hotel as I had an early morning flight for a day trip to Switzerland. Check-in was straight forward and the staff extremely friendly. Great facilities for food, small shop, wi-fi and printing. The shuttle service which I used a few times was excellent and always on time. The room was well equipment and the bathroom was of a high standard. There was quite a bit of road and train noise with the window open but that was to be expected close to the airport and at night was not a problem. The only issue I had was that on the last morning I woke up with about 14 insect bites on my face, arms and legs. I did not have the window open so these can only have come from something in the room. Unfortunately this turned what was an enjoyable stay into a disappointing one.

« The shuttle bus service isn't the best »

The rooms are comfortable and modern to be expected of a best western chain. However, it's a airport hotel, they should focus more on it providing better shuttle service to and from airport. The pickup is a short walk away from carpark G, which is where all the hotel shuttles pick people up from. On our booking form, it told us to call when we reached, not giving us the place. After the 5th call, someone finally pick up and gave us where the pickup was, shouldn't this information be readily available on the site ? I'm lucky I had a local SIM card, but imagine if other won't have it, it'll be a nightmare just to call in. The pickup isn't sheltered, so you're at the mercy of the sun. We waited half an hour before it arrived. The hotel is 10-15 minutes away, the front desk knew we arrived, why couldn't she send the shuttle earlier. The fixed time reasoning is nonsense because we left at a very odd time when the shuttle finally arrived. He didn't wait for anyone else after he picked all of us up. That's my only complaint, as an airport hotel, their focus should be ease of transferring guests to and from the airport.

    « April trip »

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night as we had the previous night booked for us through work. On arrival to the hotel we was greated by a lovely man on the reception. He was very friendly and very helpful. We arrives 4 hrs early than the recomended check in time and they gave us access to the rooms straight away. They explained where everything was and explained about the shuttle service. The kind gentleman pointed out to us that there is a metro station down the road. About 15 minute walk. We dumped our bags in the room and went out. The room was warm but we just turned the air con up so it was cooler. It was a basic room but it was exactly what we needed. The room was clean. The only down side was the floor was very worn. The bed seemed comfy and the bathroom was clean. When we returned in the evening after a very long day we was able to skype our son back home using the wifi in the lobby. The staff were very kind to let us do this and we ensures we didnt interupt any other guess. The wifi only worked in the lobby as noted in the handbooks in the rooms. We had a few drinks and got food in our room as we were very tired. Staff were lovely. They took a while to serve us but they were brilliant. Food was very nice also. The next day we checked out and the staff were very kind. Later that day i realised i had left my bording pass on the bed. The staff did everything in there power to help me. Highly recommended place to stay.

« Frustrated at shuttle service »

I would rated this hotel very high because room and hotel facility are fantastic. It included free wifi that is stable and fast. My problem was with hotel shuttle. The hotel shuttle gave us a spook. We were waiting at the designated stop for almost 45 minutes and still no show. I asked the other shuttle driver and told me that they arrive every 15 minutes. Well not in our case. We went back inside the airport terminal and called the number listed on the website but it was busy. I even asked the staff at the Tourist information to dial the number for us and it was really busy. I asked them too about taking a taxi but told us that taxis don't go in the hotel's neighborhood. That was just frustrating. So we have no choice but to wait for the shuttle outside again and thank goodness it finally arrived. The feeling when you're waiting for something and you don't even know when will it arrive or arrive at all is simply awful. The hotel should provide a working phone to call when you arrive the the airport.

« Airport hotel not very close to airport »

This hotel is listed as an Airport hotel but the taxi cost more than when we took a taxi from the airport into the centre of the city because we were charged an airport surcharge. It took us about half an hour at 4:00 am with not much traffic. The hotel is very nice and has a lounge and restaurant on site which is good because it is located in a commercial district with no restaurants nearby.

« A bit worn, but friendly helpful staff »

We found the hotel great for a short stay. There is convenient shuttle service from the airport to the hotel every 45 minutes. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get there on the shuttle. The front desk staff are very warm and helpful. I am glad we chose the breakfast option because the ham selection was wonderful and all the other food was very good. The beds were great. I was tired, but slept uninterrupted the entire night. The rooms were clean but needed some upkeep. The plaster and paint on the outside wall was cracked and peeling. You can print your boarding tickets in the lobby or online tickets to events you are attending for free.

« Convenient, friendly and comfortable for a night in transit »

Hotel is a modern design, with spacious guest rooms and a very competent and welcoming staff. As the location is a little outside the city it is more convenient for overnight stays before an early flight of a cruise line sailing. taxi fare from airport cam etc €20 and to port about the same. Hotel offers a shuttle bus in the early morning but late night service is only every 45min or longer so you may want a taxi. Eating in hotel is a good option to a trip downtown, with a choice of a cafe or restaurant style meal. We had patatas braves and a good glass of wine in the cafe and it was competent of not exciting. Breakfast buffet very god value with a wide assortment of offerings for €10. Free wifi was available and was high speed. Stayed on 5th floor and the room was very clean with a great bathroom design. There is a city bus service to town from near the hotel and there were a couple of bikes for rent to explore locally. All in all a great place to rest up if you don't need to spend the night partying in the city.

    « Conveniet »

This hotel had a free airport shuttle that made it so convientient (remember to call for pick up). It was right next to a public bus stop which was a 15/20 min. ride to Barcelona city center and the port. Staff were friendly and helpful. Downside, only one bathsponge when two people are registered. Also, a coffee maker was included on my first stay, but when returning there was no coffee maker.

    « Good Location »

Found this hotel when I was looking for a place to stay that was inexpensive, close to the port and close to public transportation. Alfa served all three criteria that I needed, There is a bus stop right outside of the gate that will take you right into town. It is about 8-10 mins from the port if you want to spend a night before going on your cruise and they offer a shuttle service to and from the airport. The price was pretty reasonable as well, we paid about $80 per night. The staff were courteous and the rooms were clean. The WiFi could have been a bit better but we only needed a place for the night. Would consider this hotel again if I was to go back to Barcelona depending on my needs.

« Post Cruise Day Room »

Stayed here after a cruise as our Flight was not until 9pm, arrived around 1015am were checked straight in by very helpful and welcoming Staff, Room was Clean Comfortable and well Furnished, with TV Kettle and Coffee Provided, Bathroom consists of a very Modern Style Shower and Fittings. Area is an Industrial type location with nothing much around, however for a Day Room or Overnight Stay we would use this Hotel again no problem. We used the onsite Bar/Restaurant for a meal and it was freshly Cooked and reasonable value. Free Airport Shuttle was pre-Booked and arrived on Time and was excellent, overall a great stay and very helpful Staff.

« Best option for late night flight arrivals »

Room was very clean and tidy, although the lack of lighting in the bathroom meant it felt like I was in small and confined space. This hotel appears very modern and the service at reception was very helpful with a smile. Cannot fault this hotel.

« Best option to overnight near the airport! »

I've been here several times now, and still very happy with the service and staff is so friendly and helpful! Manuel, the receptionist is very professional and just lovely! I always feel like at home! I entirely recommend this hotel as a best option to overnight near the airport! They offer a shuttle bus for free which picks you up from the airport and drops you off there if needed. The service starts at 5am. Great food too!! See you again soon! Gracias por todo una vez mas!

« Good hotel for business »

Good size rooms, free shuttle bus to and from the airport, even after you have checked out. Very good quality food in the restaurant. Only 20 minutes walk to work. The rooms on the main road side can be a bit noisy if the windows are open. Secure car park on site

    « Excellent for a short stay »

The service is very good, from the booking, to checking out. I stayed one night on my way to Calpe. -They have a bus that picks you up from the airport and takes you back, I didn't find a booth in the airport where you can call them, I used my personal cell phone, spending extra money. -Breakfast costs €10.90, and it is very decent. -Everybody was very nice and helpful. -Internet is included and it is very good. -price is very reasonable. -rooms are small, but good enough. -I didn't turn on the TV, since I stayed only one night. I am planning to go back at the end of this month.

    « Very nice for a stop-over »

Clean tidy hotel and very pleasant staff. Ideal for a quick stop over hotel. The indoor pool is a nice touch, but a bit small. The bar food was also very nice. I had a steak sa Sandwich which had very large pieces of steak in it. This was well cooked and well presented. Overall the hotel was good for business or pleasure.

    « amazing service »

My husband and teenage daughter and I are currently staying here in Barcelona. Although it is a 15 minute drive from the main city- well worth the trip (As we have a rental car). the staff here are ALL super friendly, helpful and so kind. The resturant on site and room service are a nice break form the tourist attractions of our day. On site parking and ease of access to the highway make this a great out of the city option. the free hotel shuttle can be utilized as well. There is a small pool and sauna on site as well as a small store with basic needs 24/7. Nice sitting area, free internet...very enjoyable stay at an affordable rate. we would definitely return!

    « A pleasant surprise once inside »

We were put here by an airline after being rerouted, stuck, etc and traveling for 15+ hours. The hotel shuttle came to get us with a very courteous driver and we were greeted mid-day by a lovely man working the front desk. We only had a few hours there, but they served us a very nice lunch of a much higher quality than we expected upon driving up and provided very comfortable rooms (and beds) for us to sleep in for a bit. The hotel and neighborhood are a bit off-putting from the outside, but the decor/renovations inside were nice and the restaurant was designed in such a way that you feel like you are somewhere totally different and serene. We did not get to use the pool and sauna facility but would have liked to. Being that the airline had lost our bags too, it would have been nice to have standard toiletries like actual shampoo (vs the hair/body foam dispensed), conditioner and lotion, but we were grateful for the warm shower, nice large towels, and a dark, quiet, comfortable room, and lovely staff. They also provided free, functioning wifi which was super. If we had an early flight or an airport layover in Barcelona again, we would likely stay here. It is super close to the airport, the quality is good and the staff was very hospitable. The restaurant hours are a bit odd for non-Spaniards, but I think room service is an option outside of the restaurant hours.

« Great hotel for one night »

Clean room, fast and easy check-in, courteous staff, and the pool was great for my son and I to fool around in before dinner. They have a shuttle to the airport, which is the reason we chose it. The one thing was that the location, while close to the airport, wasn't close to much in the way of shopping or restaurants, and the hotel restaurant was expensive for dinner (we're budget travellers), BUT, if you go out the front doors of the hotel, turn left and keep going around to your left onto the street that runs up the side of the hotel (it's called Carrer Major on a map) you'll come to a bar/ restaurant called La Pera about two blocks up. The neighbourhood is a huge industrial park, but don't let that deter you. If you pass the toll booths for the highway, you're going the right way. The food is excellent, the service fast, the prices low, and if you don't mind eating in a noisy bar full of working men, you won't be disappointed.

« Excellent for early morning flight and shorter stay in Barcelona. »

Unlike some other rewievers I think i it very good hotel for what I needed. I stayed there for one night bacause we had early morning flight. The staff was very helpful and they spoke much better english than in most other places in Spain. We had free shuttle at 5,30 am, they phoned us 10-15 minutes before to remind us on the shuttle. Rooms are very good with some of the best beds in hotels in Spain - they were wide enough ( in some hotels we had "queen bed" only 140 cm wide) and the mattress was very comfortable. Neighbourhood is not attractive at all, but metro station is very close and bus station is in front of the hotel. Wifi is very good and fast.

« Ok for one night only »

The only reason to stay at this hotel is because you have an early morning flight out of Barcelona or, you get bumped off your flight. It is in the middle of nowhere with limited public transport. On the positive side, the hotel was very clean and staff were mostly helpful and friendly. The main reason I have given the hotel a 2-star rating is the room itself. The beds were extremely uncomfortable and need to be replaced - i.e, lumpy, soft and with depressions in the middle so that you had to sleep on a slant. Every time I would get up from the bed, it took about 1 minute for the noise of the springs to stop - which was most annoying in the middle of the night for my partner. Also, while this may not be a big deal for some, they do not provide any toiletries with the exception of two foaming soap dispensers - one beside the sink in the bathroom and one in the shower. The foam soap is supposed to double as shampoo. They do provide a sponge for the soap (weird) and a shoe polishing pad. But, I think they would do better to just provide a small bar of soap and some shampoo. The door leading to the bathroom is a sliding glass door so, again, this makes quite a bit of noise at night. Another issue for me were the hours/prices of the onsite restaurant and bar. Because the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, you have no choice but to eat onsite which would be fine if the restaurant opened for dinner before 8:30 pm. While most Spaniards eat dinner at this time, many tourists (who I'm assuming are the ones staying at an airport hotel) do not. Moreover, because flights leave and arrive at all hours of the day/night, it would be considerate for the guests if the dining facilities' hours were more flexible. There is a bar and room service with better hours, but the selection of food is very limited, expensive and there was only one person serving behind the bar (and helping with room service) when I ordered around 7 pm at night. I sum, I could survive one night at this hotel, but not more.

    « Awaiting your flight. »

Decent experience. Hotel was older but clean. Shuttle to airport had limited hours. We booked here for the shuttle but out 6:45 am flight did not have a shuttle running yet so we had to get a taxi. Didn't try the food but the WiFi was good and the fastest of our 5 spain hotels all of which were a higher start rating. Location is remote in an industrial area. But it was not too noisy. A bus line (bus 21) will take you to (just in front of the hotel)/from(drops across the street from the hotel) the parallel subway station in 20 min. (Ticket can be purchased on the bus.). AC didn't work (probably still turned off in March).

    2
    « Not for everybody »

United put us in this hotel when they cancelled the flight due to mechanical problems. If you are used to the Hilton you cannot stay here. The accommodations are fine but the hotel smells like it has just been sprayed by bug repellent. Close to airport. Nice people that are helpful. But I could not stay here.

    3
    « Bad Location »

The hotel was fine. Nice people and they did a good job. The hotel itself was a little outdated, but still fine. The worst was the area. it is on a industry area, where there is nothing to do. We had to take a cab to the city centre

« Thank you Best Western. Thank you Señor Tobias and staff. »

This is a slightly different review from the usual. It is very personal and deals with how we were treated by this hotel while we were stranded in Barcelona. I cannot praise this hotel enough! Not so much for the hotel itself - although it is comfortable, fairly stylish and only 10 minutes walk to the metro. It was also relatively inexpensive at €150 for 3 nights on-line. The reason I have given this hotel four stars is the staff. We arrived at the Hotel in the late afternoon exhausted and stressed after a morning dealing with the Police, having had our passports stolen at 7 am on the way to the airport to fly back to Scotland, and then an afternoon trying to convince various airlines (unsuccessfully) that we were who we are and could be trusted on one of their planes. We had been treated appallingly by Ryanair staff (don't worry Ryanair, you'll get your review - but not until I am calm enough to avoid litigation) and we were anticipating more hassle at the hotel. Nothing could have been further from the truth. The Duty Manager, Señor Luis Tobias, was calm, sympathetic and extremely helpful. His attitude was all about getting us settled in, safe and comfortable. He used the ID we had on us to accept us as guests, rather than insist on passports. He basically offered the services of the hotel to resolve any difficulties we might have. He was like a soothing ointment after the bruises of the day. His staff were equally service focussed Leslie, one of the desk clerks, (I didn't catch her second name) helped us to book return flights home and went beyond my reasonable expectations to do this for me, finding the correct number for the Brussels Airways helpline (that's right NOT Ryanair - Brussels Airlines actually appear to know how to treat their customers!), translating the answering machine messages to get me onto an English speaking operative and offering any further help I might need. Even the bar staff in the hotel seemed to bend over backwards to be helpful. The best thing is that I don't think it was a specific response to our situation. I think this is how they treat all of their guests. Thank you Best Western. Thank you Señor Tobias and staff.

    « Excellent Hotel »

I stayed in the hotel for four nights two weeks ago with my family. We had a good size family room for 3. Excellent services at reception, free transfer service to airport and very convenient to all transport. Bus stop to go to down town is just out of the hotel and metro station about 7 minutes walk from the hotel. Very good cleaning services as well. I would recommend this hotel for stay and will book again if plan to go to Barcelona.

    « Convenient to airport »

Room small but clean, bed and pillows comfortable, bathroom modern, staff at reception friendly and helpful. Excellent WiFi. We had a room on the backside and it was quiet even with the window open. There was no clock or coffee maker in the room and no coffee in the lobby. It was available in the bar, but that is inconvenient for anyone wanting coffee while working in the room, and can get expensive. The shuttle to the airport was great. We spent two days at the hotel and found it easy to get into Barcelona by taking the shuttle to the airport and then the train from the airport. There is also a bus stop just out the hotel entrance and the staff at reception gives good advice about using the bus. In the dining room we found the service very friendly and fast. Food was nicely presented, but on the bland side. There are a few places around the hotel that serve quite good and very inexpensive lunches. All in all, good value for the money.

    « Good hotel »

Good hotel, just a couple comments. The hotel is currently under remodel (at least some rooms are). They do stop construction before night. Beware of the airport shuttle driver! She was rude. She insisted on being right when she declared that she asked us previously as to which terminal to take us to. We didn't even know which terminal ourselves, so how could we have told her?!?! Also, the gym (as listed as a hotel amenity) is 2 machines. :) You have no control over the ventilation system so when we opened the window to let in fresh air, the heater kicked on. It was a good stay overall. I would recommend.

« Not bad for the price. »

Clean rooms and friendly service is a plus. It is not walking distance to any food places but they do serve food at the hotel. Plus there is a bar. There is a bus but we took a taxi for central town which came to around 20 euros. Beds not to comfy but again not bad for the money. We had 2 rooms and no problems. They do have shuttles to and from the airport. Rooms on 4th floor was quiet. Free wifi as well.

    « Great! »

Good price considering the value. Staff are helpful. The transport is reliable to the airport. Rooms are large with all the extras of a typical 4 star hotel - nice linen, clean towels etc. Restaurant is great too.

    « super attention »

We had an excellent reception, very good service, rooms were very comfortable. and a very well organized shuttle bus service connecting with the airport in no more than 10 minutes. Easy access. The cafeteria was very decent price.

« Comfortable, efficient airport hotel with a personal touch »

Close to the airport with a regular shuttle bus and parking in its own car park, The BW Alfa hotel offers what most travellers want. The rooms are spacious, the bathroom ultra modern, the beds very comfortable. Snacks & light meals are available in the bar where prices were what you'd expect in a hotel, The restaurant seemed pricey but I didn't try it. Wifi worked well in my room and public areas. A hand written note from a member of the staff was placed by my bed wishing me a plesant night's sleep (in English) which was a nice gesture.I will definitely use this hotel again. English is spoken to a high standard should you need to discuss anything. .

« Everything great but the room service »

This is a great place to stay if you are on your way our of Barcelona. We stayed one night and it was perfect for the fact of the location and they have a free shuttle to the airport. It was our last night in Barcelona and we were exhausted so we ordered room service, there was a problem with communication and what was available in the kitchen so we had to go down to the front desk to order, which kind of defeats the purpose of room service. Once our food arrived it was cold so we had to send it back. It came back hot so that was good. The other two great things about this hotel was the bathtub and the sauna! Overall good stay minus the room service ordeal. Good breakfast in the morning but it is not included in your stay.

    « BW Alfa Aeropuerto »

The proximity to the airport was my main consideration. The free airport shuttle was a well-organized service with perfect timing. The room was a bit tight as was the bathroom, but it was clean and quiet. Good Wi-Fi signal. The front desk was excellent, very helpful and with good command of English. There's a scale in the lobby if you need to weigh your suitcases, it costs €1.

« Onemore night in Spain »

We have decided to stay one more night in Barcelona, such our trip has been to short. our previous hotel was located near Sarria metro station. Since we decide to stay close to the airport Best Western was the best option. Transport from the airport has been arranged by shuttle bus. Good experience

« Ideal Stopover for Airport - Top marks for customer service »

Not ideal perhaps for a holiday but If you need a hotel ready for a flight the next morning this is spot on. We have friends who live in Barcelona who winced when I said I was staying here, they said its in the middle of an industrial estate - which it is. But, it is a really modern, immaculate hotel, nice spacious room, crisp linen and the staff were excellent. We had to get up at 4.30am so we were too early for breakfast, but they insisted we took away a packed breakfast,....and free shuttle to the airport, 10 minutes away. Top marks for an airport stop

    3
« Staff excellent, first class if you use the hotel for their airport taxi service. Overnight stay fine but not longer. »

Hotel is situated on an industrial estate . About a mile to El prat town ? Food in restaurant excellent sea bass fantastic. We stayed 5 nights but hired a car to travel . Not suitable for children. Many miles to city centre.

« Great Hotel with Airport Shuttle, but don't expect restaurants or shopping to be close. »

A GREAT Hotel at a great price. Very spacious, clean room. Nice bathroom with rainfall shower head in the tile shower. Comfortable bed (Although only a double) Prompt airport shuttle (But be prepared for a 5+ minute walk to the pickup location). BUT: It's on the edge of a large industrial area with no restaurants, shopping, or anything else close. There was a cafe inside though, and they had a GREAT Breakfast spread for $10 pp fee. (Cafe was a bit expensive) AND: There is a bus stop right out front that goes directly to the City Center for under e2.15. We had an incident with housekeeping walking into the room at an awkward moment, but when I went to the manager he was VERY apologetic, comped our breakfast, end he even carried our luggage to the shuttle himself. So, I have to give service an A+. ALSO: There is a special rate for cruise passengers, before or after your cruise. We normally use Booking, but Hotels was the only site we saw that rate on, so we used them. If you know the Barcelona transportation system, and are coming from a cruise, cab is e39. If you want the cheaper method, take the T3 PORTBUS out of the port to the Christopher Columbus statue. Catch the N1 bus right to the hotel. DO NOT try to walk from the ship. We did, and my wife was about to kill me. It was a LONG strenuous walk. Pay the e3 and take the shuttle out. If you do not know the Barcelona transportation system, DON'T risk it, take the taxi. We will definitely stay here again if we need a Barcelona Airport hotel.

« convenient hotel close to BCN airport »

Clean hotel, at very short distance to El Pratt airport. Located in a very industrial area, it's convenient just to stay overnight to catch your flight next day. Comfortable and clean. No complaints. Friendly staff.

    « Pleasant Airport Hotel »

I chose this hotel over others near the airport because it got good reviews and offered shuttle service. The staff were very friendly, and helped with a prompt wake up call. The public areas and the room were clean and nicely furnished. The restaurant and lounge were quite nice and the food was also very good, with fresh ingredients used. The shuttle left on time. The hotel is at a busy intersection but the sounds of traffic were not too loud as to be annoying.

    « Great Airport Hotel »

This hotel suited our needs exactly, and we had a late arrival and early departure, and needed a convenient layover spot. The shuttle to and from the airport was much appreciated, and the staff was very friendly and professional. Location is perfect for an airport stop; probably not so good if you want to tour the city without a car, as it is not near the major attractions. But in our case, we found it an excellent place for a 10-hour stopover. It is very modern and clean, with a nice on-site restaurant that was open late (a lifesaver for tired, hungry people arriving late). We especially liked the hi-tech and ultra-modern bathroom; taking a shower is like operating a nuclear submarine! In all, it was very nice. We would return with no hesitation.

    « So easy »

This hotel makes it so easy when you have early flights to the States from Barcelona. They have nice rooms, indoor pool and a shuttle to the airport. The food in the bar is good if you want something light the night before. We have been using this hotel for over 25 years now.

    « Very personable »

Welcoming and very friendly staff. Very willing to help and advise about how to get into the city . Also found and secured me excellent accommodation in Santander . Rooms spacious luxury ensuite , immaculate condition . Bus stop next to the hotel 20 minute ride to the metro , location good if you require easy access to the airport . Secure parking . great breakfast selection .

« Nice hotel before heading to the airport »

We stayed here for two nights after returning from a cruise. I would recommend it if you were just staying the night, but if you don't have a car, it isn't a location I would choose. There is nothing around the area, although there is a nice restaurant and mini-market in the hotel. The room was very nice and clean, and the shower was very good. The television selection did not include any channels at all in English, so unless you speak Spanish, you won't be watching the TV. We did find we could change the settings on some channels to English, but not being able to watch even BBC was disappointing. The staff was very nice, and the breakfast (9.9 Euros) was very good.

    3
« Shuttle from airport included »

It was convenient with the shuttle to and from the airport. Staff was friendly. The restaurant and breakfast had long opening hours from 5:30 in the morning which is good when you have an early flight. We had a family room which was very large with two rooms. The beds are Spanish standard, floorboard like ;). They had arranged a brilliant gluten free breakfast for us!!! Overall the standard is medium compared to the price.

« Ticked All The Boxes. »

The hotel is situated on the edge of a huge industrial area, so there is a lot of traffic, but this is not a problem if you let the green man tell you when to cross the road. It is surprisingly quiet. There are public buses handy that will take you into the city. Through the toll gates and 200 metres up the road are several restaurants. But all are closed on the weekend. A 15 minute walk takes you into the small town of El Prat which has a plethora of restaurants, bars and cafes. Another 15 minutes takes you to the airport viewing area where passing planes fly over your head. The hotel is comfortable and quiet. The restaurant is quite expensive. Basic stores can be bought at reception. My bedroom was large and well fitted; the bathroom excellent. The staff were very helpful, and pleased to assist. Next time I am in Barcelona (I wish) I will stay there again.

    4
« Great Location to the Airport »

Room was comfortable and bathroom is clean. great price value for your money and there is a bus you can take. The staff was nice and no complaints. Quiet area and the floors are quiet. Computer and shuttle is very useful and convenient.

« Easy Peasy Airport Hotel »

The hotel looks newly renovated. The room was quite nice, posh bathroom, no complaints. No free food. Free airport shuttle pickup and drop off. For travellers to Barcelona, its good to know that Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are NOT close to each other and its important to know which terminal your flight leaves from.

    « I was happy!!! »

I'm very surprised at the extremely negative review!!!! I am so sorry she/he had such a bad stay. I am not sure what they were expecting however? I booked this hotel for the same reason as most everyone else, because I had an early flight the next day. The hotel was great, completely served my purpose of staying there. I did not find the hotel dirty at ALL. The shuttle was fantastic, took me to the airport free of charge the next day. The bus to downtown was great. Yes a 20 minute ride but who cares...it took me to downtown and I had a fun last night in Barcelona and took the bus back to the hotel with no problems at all. I'm not really sure why people have to complain so much....this is an "airport" hotel and if you do your research you shouldn't be surprised or disappointed. It's not in the heart of the city. But I knew this and was fine taking the bus. I was extremely happy at this hotel and would stay again if needed! Thanks for a pleasant and easy last night of my trip! My wifi worked perfectly. My TV worked perfectly. I had hot water. I slept with the windows open and slept perfectly. I suppose everyone's experiences are different but I was completely satisfied.

« If you love cold showers in the morning - and listening to cars on the motorway all evening - this is hotel is for you! »

This is a very deceptive hotel to stay at. The shuttle was great - a little hard to find from Terminal 1 (You have to go to the outside parking area "Parking - "G'.) It's about a 20 minute ride to the hotel. They never have one than one person at the desk...so be prepared to wait if there were a number of people on your bus in order to check in. Here's where your hotel experience turns bad at this hotel. After you check in (be prepared to wait another 15-20 minutes) you get to your room as the process is so slow with one clerk. The hallways are filthy - it's almost like walking through a dungeon. The walls are chipped and scuffed with bad hallway lighting. I had a single room, which was small, but adequate. I couldn't open the door. I inserted my key at least 5 times and the door handle would finally open. This happened repeatedly throughout my stay. There is a single bed against the wall and a very small desk, which you barely have enough room to lay out your tablet as it is so cramped. They have very contemporary bathroom fixtures, which I considered strange due to how old the rest of the hotel looks. Turning on the sink to wash my face, I was a bit concerned the best I could get was "warm" rather than "hot" water. I wasn't so concerned, but that became a HUGE issue the next morning as the water would stay lukewarm and never even get to hot for my shower! It was horrible! Forget operating the TV, no matter what I did, it wouldn't on. WIFI worked OK, but due to the lack of space on the desk (the TV was on it) it was impossible to get any work done. You get one pillow and one comforter per bed. And, if you have a room facing the motorway, you'll hear cars all night as their is not sound proofing in the room. I will say, on a positive note, the staff is extremely and friendly and accommodating. Food in their bar was good, service was prompt and pricing was fair. The issue is, they have no power to fix any problems unless management is there - which is only during the hours of 0900-1700. I complained the next morning, all the clerk could do was issue an apology and tell me she'd alert management. I did receive an email back offering me a free room on my next stay a this hotel - Ha! Like I would want to stay in this hell-hole again? My advise: spend another 10 Euros at one of the other hotels nearby as you will be as unhappy as I if you stay at this hotel.

« Excellent Service and a Great Room »

We had a quick overnight before catching an international flight and were very pleased with this hotel. If you read their website the tell you exactly how to avoid any issues that may result in the negative comments I have read. The shuttle picked us up at the airport, the receptionist asked if we wanted it booked the next morning, the room was clean, quite, and modern. The dinner was great and the shuttle back to the airport was easy and efficient. Even had a wakeup call in English (they pay attention to the details) Would highly recommend and will return. PS great value for service and quality of the room.

    « Airport convenience »

I booked 1 night at this hotel, in order to stay the night before my early-morning flight home from Barcelona. The hotel is reasonably close to the airport, but still a 10 minute taxi ride away (which at 04:30 cost about 32 euros.) My taxi driver taking me to the hotel had some trouble at night, finding the entrance driveway; it appeared (in the dark) somewhat hidden by large hedges, but eventually we got there. Check-in staff was very friendly and proficiently bilingual (my Spanish is very insufficient!) I'd already had an early dinner before arrival, so I didn't get to try the hotel restaurant (which opens for dinner I believe at 20:00.) My room was on the first floor (2 elevators serve the building) and was plenty large enough for me, and nicely appointed with tv, wardrobe, safe, and what appeared to be good room-darkening drapes. (It was dark when I checked in, and dark when I checked out, so I never saw sunlight while at the hotel!) The bathroom was sleek and contemporary with a "rainfall" type showerhead. Wifi was excellent in the room. The hotel appears to face a main highway (I couldn't quite tell in the dark) -- I always travel with earplugs for sleeping, so I didn't have any noise problems, personally.

« There is great scope for improvement »

Staff did not have a clean Queen sized room ready as was reserved. The air conditioning of the rooms did not work on either of the two nights, despite reporting the problem the first night. The room wasn't cleaned on the second day as requested, the sign/ banner for cleaning that was placed on the door knob was turned by somebody to show "Please do not clean".

    4
    « Nice hotel! »

This hotel is modern, clean and comfortable with excellent service. It is quite aways from Barcelona, but a bus stops outside the door to take you straight into the city. It's close to a little down-at-the-heels suburban town, but the interesting thing is the river with walking/cycling paths all the way out to the ocean! The hotel offers bicycles to rent, which we used. Not much else around this hotel really, but an economical and quiet place to stay.

« Make sure to confirm all aspects of stay on arrival! »

I had high hopes for the Alfa property, given its close location to the airport and included shuttle option. The shuttle is at no cost and can be reserved ahead of time at various times. The room was small and adequate for a short stay. Shower was good with plenty of hot water. While wifi is free, my room at the extreme end of the building did not have service - avoid room 625 or other far end rooms for better signal. I also prepaid my room in full and at sign-in you are asked to sign acknowledgement for any fees (mine was denoted as $0.00). But I was shocked in the morning at checkout to be billed for a hidden city tax, separate from the room charge and not otherwise identified on arrival. I found this to be extremely dishonest - beware and make sure to confirm any hidden fees when you check in. Staff were not able to explain why there was a discrepancy with the zero charge acknowledgement I signed. Hard to recommend this property - I most likely will not stay again on a future visit.

« Good hotel near airport, not much else »

We stayed one night at the family room (one bedroom, one living room with two sofa-beds, one bathroom) at 130EUR, breakfast not included. Rooms were large and clean, quiet despite location. Many storage options, many electric outlets. Bathroom was very large- the tub was almost too large and deep for children, and had 3 steps leading to it. Probably a treat for most people but children needed a hand. Staff was friendly although a bit slow at reception. Breakfast buffet at 10EUR per person was generous and good. Free shuttle service to and from the airport was the only down-side: while efficient and free, shuttles left every 30-45 mins and when we arrived some of the time-slots were already full, so we had to wait. Wish they ran more often.

    3
    « Badic »

Basic rooms with good wifi. Maintenance of the rooms a reasonable. Safe in the room - by surcharge. Front desk staff very warm and useful. Good breakfast. In the middle of the airport logistical area- nowhere to go out to. 15 minutes drive from the airport. Free shuttle but it runs every 45 minutes only.

    5
    « Exceptional »

From start to finish an excellent stay at the best western. Never stayed at a best western before but will definitely book again with no hesitation. We only stayed overnight in Barcelona and did not take full advantage of the swimming pool and other facilities but we have no doubt they were top notch too.

    3
« Lovely staff, average premises »

If this hotel was in accordance with its front desk stuff, it would be a 5 star hotel in the heart of Barcelona. The front desk receptionists are simply delightful, we checked in after the shuttle picked us up, (almost right away), along with a few more passengers. Despite of quickly getting crowded and busy at the front desk upon our arrival, we were checked in prompt and graciously, with nothing but smiles and a very helpful disposition to answer our questions. Along with the card keys, you are given a sheet of paper with information regarding buses timetables, breakfast, locations, etc.., so there is no need to bomb the receptionist, as we did, with questions. There is a bus that stops almost at the Hotel's doorstep that runs every 20 minutes and takes you to the city center. It runs until 10 p.m., after 10 p.m., you have the N1 that runs all night until 6 a.m., and leaves you at Plaza Catalunya. The ride costs 2 Euro and takes about 20 minutes. Our room was 303, I need to always have the windows open and found out that it can get really noisy, specially at night, all night. As the hotel is located within an industrial area, it is mostly heavy traffic running, at all times. This did not particularly bothered us, since we ended up being so tired anyways after walking all day visiting the city, but it could be a problem for other travelers more sensitive to noise, maybe the rooms located at the back of the hotel are quieter as they do not face a major road. You will need to bring your own shampoo, etc, as only a foamy hand soap dispenser is provided. The bathtub was not cleaned on our last day of stay. Breakfast is 10 Euro for the buffet, which is pretty decent, or 5 Euro if you just want a small cold croissant, juice and a coffee. The best of this hotel are the front desk agents, all of them, and the most helpful person I have met, that was simply standing around when we arrived, looking to answer any questions we may have had. This hotel has a million dollar staff, I would be good if the rest of the facilities within the premises catch up to the front desk area. If service is important then this hotel is recommended, just don't expect a great room.

« Good hotel for airport, but shuttle may not work for you »

The hotel is clean and the rooms are a nice size. It is a good value. The staff was helpful and friendly. However, we did not use the shuttle to or from the airport which is the main reason we picked this hotel. My flight got in late, and I just missed the last shuttle. I did not want to wait 45 minutes for the next shuttle after my day of travel, so I took a taxi which was worth the $25E. Then we left too early for the shuttle in the morning which starts at 5am, and we needed to leave no later than 4:30am. The shuttle probably is fine for most people's schedules but did not work for us.

    5
    « Excellent »

Rooms were pretty swanky by our standards. We only stayed one night on our way to our main holiday destination, but everything about our stay went smoothly and was enjoyable. We had breakfast - nice choice of hot and cold items. Would happily stay here again.
